I had a good experience with Mohawk Flooring. The distributor was very helpful, too. I had some Oak Shale hardwood installed to match the existing flooring at one of my jobs. It matched just right, but not originally with the color.

There are a lot of carpets out there and we definitely looked, although not extensively, at a few different brands. We just compared the prices and colors. Mohawk Flooring had a good price and felt great, so we ended up picking them. We had the carpet installed in the two bedrooms in our home. What we liked about it was a combination of the color, the tuftedness, like how thick and comfortable it was. It has held up pretty well. It's only been a couple of months but everything looks great. It's consistent, and it cleans up and vacuums well. Unfortunately, it stains easily because we got a white color, but that's not the fault of Mohawk. That's just how white carpet stands out in terms of getting dirt on it. However, it has met our expectations and has not disappointed us. I'd definitely recommend the carpet.

I've done some research online as to the quality of the flooring and I'm familiar with Mohawk's product already. They have a pretty good reputation so I went with them. We got wood flooring and carpet and we had it installed in the bedrooms, office, living and dining rooms. We like the look of our flooring, it's really beautiful and has met our expectations. We would recommend them to anyone.

We had hickory hardwood flooring from Mohawk installed into a single room in February 2016. The retailer was "Floors USA" located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. A few days after the installation we started noticing tiny piles of wood dust in various spots in the room. It took us a few weeks to finally figure out that there were holes in the wood under these piles and that they were actually exit holes where beetles were boring out of the planks (we found a few dead beetles on the surface of the floor). We called an exterminator who came and looked at the floor and beetles and identified them as being in the 'powder-post beetle' family. At that time we also went into our unfinished cement basement where we had stored flooring remnants left over from the installation.
When we re-opened the box, we found live beetles and evidence of wood-boring activity (tunnels, holes, wood dust). One of the remnants was cut during the installation and the cut goes through about 20 tunnels. The exterminator sprayed the remnant planks and provided a receipt indicating powder-post beetles were in the flooring planks. He did not spray the floor in the room because the finished surface would not allow the solution to penetrate into the boards. We went to the retailer, explained the situation, and provided pictures and the exterminator's receipt. The retailer filed a claim with Mohawk and provided us with the claim number and the Mohawk claims phone number.
After a few days I called the Mohawk claims department to check on the status. The claims worker told me the beetles could not possibly come from their wood and that they must have already been in my house. I told her about our remnants and the exterminator receipt and she said he was not qualified to indicate the beetles originated in the planks. She explained that there were certified wood inspectors that could do that. I asked her to send such an inspector. The next day I was informed by the retailer that Mohawk had denied the claim, without doing any investigation.
After many conversations, the retailer agreed to send a wood inspector. The inspector came and examined the flooring, the remnants, and the sub-floor and joists. He also took a sample remnant that contained boring tunnels/holes. It took several weeks for him to supply a report to the retailer. I had to request the retailer to provide the report to us. The report indicated that our house (flooring, joists, air) did not contain the moisture levels usually necessary to support a powder-post beetle infestation. The report also indicated that the depth of the bore holes was shorter than the depth of the flooring planks (inferring that the beetles did not bore up though the planks from the sub-floor). The report included pictures of the holes in the installed flooring and the boring activity in the remnants. Unfortunately, the last line of the report says "It is inconclusive where this infestation occurred.".
The retailer said that they supplied this report to Mohawk, who again denied the claim. I emailed Mohawk asking for the basis of their denial. They replied that they can not communicate with me and that all updates must be communicated through the retailer. I have gotten no details from the retailer. All of the above events have occurred over 4 months. Meanwhile, the flooring with its active infestation has remained intact in our house. After receiving no relief from Mohawk or Floors USA, we finally had the flooring removed this week at our expense.

I had Mohawk Flooring installed in our living area. I got the SmartStrand silk and it was discounted. I liked that guy that installed our carpet 'cause he was very professional. I like the wearability of the flooring. It's supposed to be pretty durable. I also liked the idea that the cleaning stuff was already pre-made into it instead of sprayed on. We're happy with it although the furs keep coming out and I don't know how long it's gonna be.

I went to a flooring store and there were tons of brands. The cost and quality of Mohawk products are good. I had used an American Cherry flooring from them previously, which still looked good after 5 years, and got the same thing to redo the flooring. The only downside is it absorbs moisture a little bit quicker than I would hope.

I just built a new construction home and specified the Mohawk laminate wood flooring. It's awful. It scratches if you look at it wrong. I'm slightly exaggerating but it is a nightmare to maintain. And to compound matters there is nothing that will adhere to camouflage the scratches. I would NEVER buy it again or recommend it to anyone. If I had to do it over, I would buy a tile that resembles a wood floor.
Do not waste your money on Mohawk wood flooring. This is my experience after spending thousands of dollars on this product. My wife live in this house without small children or pets. We are very particular on having proper cushions on chair legs and sorts so I cannot even imagine what it would be like to have these Mohawk wood floors if we live hard or had a lot of activity in this house. Do not waste your hard earned money on Mohawk wood laminate flooring.

I chose Karastan because of its reputation, and can say nothing bad about its appearance or feel. But still, I hate every moment of living with it. My living room and hall are carpeted with their Exceptional Approach, a very fine fiber carpet that has the unwanted ability to accumulate a static charge even on a 76 humid day. And, it can do that when I'm barefoot. So if I walk from the kitchen to the living room and touch metal I will be shocked. Had I not paid over $4000 for the carpet, and were I not living on a fixed income I would be replacing it with carpet that a human being would be comfortable living with.
And that problem is on top of the fact that the carpet fibers are so fine that a good quality vacuum cleaner like a Dyson cannot be used because it will not pass the air needed to remove the dirt. Instead, the vacuum hunkers down and seals to the carpet like a giant suction cup, making it impossible to move. What in the HELL were they thinking.
I'm very sorry again, Jay! Take care-- Laura

We got a tile from Mohawk Flooring because Home Depot and Lowe's couldn't do the work since it was for a manufactured home. It only had tile when we bought it. They had those big 20-inch squares which were too big for that floor system and had cracks. It was too big a product versus the 13 to 13's we went to which don't have any cracks. They put down some kind of sub level other than the regular backer board. They had a system, an underlayment that wouldn't allow the tile to crack. It creaks and pops, but other than that it seems alright. We had it installed in our kitchen. I've been in the construction and contracting business for 33 years. Sometimes you could get what you pay for and sometimes you get a little less. But Mohawk Flooring was good and I can say well-behaved. They live not far from me so if I need anything out of them, I go check their door. Other than that, the office with the displays and the customer service was excellent.

Mohawk Flooring installed Maple hardwood floor on our home's main room. I like Mohawk the most among other brands I considered. I liked the feel of the wood-- the solidness and the quality. I have a problem with the installers but not with the materials. The siding when the floor hits the sides of the door wasn't a big piece but they had to put two pieces of wood instead of one flat one. I don't understand why it can't be all in one piece or a thicker siding. I'm not sure if that's because there was no correct length as to the siding and so if that's the case then my suggestion would be to increase the sizes that are available. But I really like how the flooring looks, it's really pretty.

Received a hard sell on SmartStrand at Lowe's. It's been installed only about 4 years, and looks worse than other brand carpets I've had for over 12 years! Despite all the assurance & hype at the Lowe's store about how this carpet would resist stains, it began picking up stains immediately after installation. I chose a lighter taupe color of carpet, based on the fact that the SmartStrand fibers were supposed to resist stains. I have "professionally cleaned" the carpet myself with appropriate products, therefore, according to the manufacturer the warranty is void. In past years I've had a variety of other carpets, and frequent pet stains that have cleaned off it with little effort. We now have no pets, and wear only indoor shoes on the carpet. My contact with Mohawk's Customer Service to notify them of the problem early after installation achieved nothing other than a rep telling me to spray "Goo Gone" on the carpet. Really?
It was my intention to choose a SmartStrand carpet prior to receiving the hard sell for this carpet, and I feel my money has been totally wasted. The carpet not only looks filthy and stained with foot traffic (indoor shoes only) from two seniors, but the fibers on the embossed carpet are really thin. We purchased quality cushion pad, had the carpet professionally installed, and have vacuumed with one of the recommended types of cleaners. Not only are we totally disgusted by Mohawk's lack of concern about the SmartStrand carpet problems (as reported by many consumers), but we are also looking into taking some kind of legal action following misrepresentation by Mohawk about this carpet's capabilities.
Updated on 5/19/2016: For some strange reason my recent post regarding all the problems reported with Smartstrand carpet has a notation saying "resolution is in progress" - it is not. If like me, and many others, you report a problem with Smartstrand carpet do not expect any resolution. Mohawk is in total denial that there are any problems at all with the carpet. I was contacted by Mohawk following the negative review that I left, and asked to complete their online form with details of the carpet. I provided yet more details via their online form.
This morning they contacted me via e-mail to say that since I didn't have receipts for professional cleanings, their so-called warranty is void. So, despite noting that already in my original review, they made me jump through hoops and waste more time, with the pretense that their own "Consumer Affairs Dept." was going to look into this. Whoever wrote to me didn't even have the courage to put their name to their message. I stand by my original review - as do the others who have experienced the exact same type of problems with Smartstrand carpet.
Per Mohawk, their carpet is "highly stain resistant". Wrong - foot traffic from two people wearing indoor-only shoes does not leave permanent stains on carpet that has stain-resisting qualities! According to those consumers that have had the Smartstrand carpet professionally cleaned, it hasn't made any difference and the stains have remained. Mohawk claims the fibers of their Smartstrand carpet do not allow any spills or marks to travel down the fibers to the carpet backing - wrong again! All these issues reported by a variety of consumers should tell Mohawk that there is a serious manufacturing problem with the Smartstrand carpet. Once again, the carpet's qualities & capabilities has been totally misrepresented in Mohawk's marketing materials - as proven by consumers who have spent hard-earned money installing this carpet.
Mohawk has been made aware of the fact that the Smartstrand carpet does not live up to their own advertising claims, yet adamantly refuses to do anything to correct the problems. I will be looking into the legal implications of the failure to stand behind their product, and whether this meets the requirements for a Class Action Lawsuit against Mohawk.

The flooring is supposed to have a warranty. There are many places and it is getting worse that are affected with discolorations/fading. These places are not near any windows. I have talked to Carlos ** at Carpet Wagon whom Mohawk says I need to go through and also have received emails through Carlos from Jennifer ** at Mohawk. They do not follow through and what they said they will do is not going to take care of the growing problems.

We’ve had hardwood floor before. We purchased a house that had all carpet, and we decided that we’re going to go back to hardwood floor. We went with Mohawk because we really liked the color and the design of the flooring that we saw. We called them because we were going try to have it delivered at a big-box store and they said that they wouldn’t do that because they only offer this to the small Mom-and-Pop stores. That’s when we started shopping around for who all had it, and we found one about 20 miles from here.
The price varies quite a bit and what we purchased was $5.00 at other stores and we found one store where it was $2.50, so that's where we went with. The cost was good because the product that we purchased is one of those specialty store products. We had the wood floor installed and that's awesome. The flooring looks nice. I have spoken to several carpet salespeople since having the rug installed and they all tell me to stay away from SmartStrand. The only reason they carry it is because people ask for it. This carpet is a slightly different SmartStrand style than the others, with a longer loop. The carpet store replaced it with the same material - and the same problem occurred. Mohawk now refuses to take any action. The room is rarely used and it stretches credulity to think we did something different in this room (twice!) than the others. It did not peel until a couple of months later. So then we decided not to go all over the house but leave it in the dining and the living rooms.

The salesperson in the store that I went into indicated that Mohawk was the best for my needs. They were having a sale that time, so the price seemed reasonable and the quality seemed good. With regards to the carpet, the reason I purchased it was largely because of its durability. It's stain resistant and that is a positive aspect of that carpet. With regard to the hardwood flooring, it just looks good. The finish is good and hard. Mohawk did very well meet my expectations. My experience was excellent.

We carpeted all of our bedrooms with Mohawk SmartStrand with the understanding that the carpet is extremely stain-resistant and stains easily lift. We've not had this experience at all. We've followed their instructions without success. We had a sticky substance (some sort of dirt from someone's shoe) and in spite of multiple attempts, it won't come off. The Mohawk inspector came here, assured us distilled water would work, and yet... It didn't. He wasn't able to lift the stain nor were we. This is less stain resistant than the other carpeting we've purchase with Scotchgard (which also was about 1/2 as much).

The worst! I have had Mohawk SmartStrand for two years. I paid $5000 for my living room, two hallways, and a small den, very expensive. When I first bought it no one told me I had to have a special vacuum cleaner so I bought a new shark which wouldn't even move on the carpet. I later found out I needed a special vacuum for $350 so I had to buy that, also. Almost every stain is permanent and it always looks dirty because after I vacuum the foot prints show with every step and my dog's paw prints look like dirty spots. I'm replacing this as soon as possible. I think it is hands down the worst carpet I have ever owned and the most expensive by far! I am replacing it as soon as I can afford to.

Mohawk SmartStrand Carpet - I purchased this carpeting a few years ago. The carpet is buckling in every room it was installed in. There is also a quarter size hole in the carpet where there are no fibers at all. Contacting Mohawk and filing a claim was a joke. They denied the claim and when I asked to speak to a Supervisor, the customer service agent hung up on me! What kind of company does that? I will never buy a Mohawk carpet again. There is no customer service standing behind it and the product is very poor quality. This carpet looks 20 years old and was one of the worst purchases I have ever made! Due to color considerations for the client, I chose Mohawk Flooring over other manufacturers. Their installation needs to be discussed before a new installer goes in and installs the easy lock. It is so easy to install but if you've done laminate floors before, the typical click-lock system that a laminate floor has is an issue, where you have to use rubber mallets and kind of force it. And my initial go around with Mohawk was trying to adjust the way it's been done before. Mohawk is very easy to install but it's very delicate that if you force this product, you ruin the board and you lose the hook. But that being said, it was a breeze to put in through the way it's boxed. Overall, it's a good product.

We have experienced problems with seams lifting and poor wear. We have been in actual residence of our seasonal unit for a total of less 12 months. Poor customer service from the dealer along with poor quality carpet has produced a very unhappy consumer. From trying to file a claim to the way it has been handled has been a very unsatisfactory experience. Ultimately I am left with carpet that has performed in a very unsatisfactory manner and no one to stand behind it. From looking at previous reviews other consumers have experienced similar issues. I've always bought Karastan since I like its quality. The woman who sold it to me told me that it has this new thing called SmartStrand by DuPont. It prevents fading and if something's spilled on it, it wipes up. Apparently, Karastan is one of the only two brands who carry it. Installation was flawless and the installers were great. We put it in the living room and all through the upstairs and the stairs. I like the way it looks. It's very plush and I'm sure it will last a long time. It's wonderful.

We saw the flooring in our local flooring store and loved the look. The wood was delivered and sat for 5 days before installation. The installer was very meticulous with the way he put each board down. When he was finished, we noticed that there wasn't a single board longer than 2 feet and most were a lot shorter than that. The Mohawk rep came to look at the floor and agreed that the boards were all short. While the flooring was being taken up, we noticed that there were red Xs on the backs of the boards as if they were discarded from other boxes.
We waited another month and soon the new floor was installed. Ten months after the floor was put down, we noticed long cracks down some of the boards and some delamination. Mohawk sent a rep and they decided that they didn't have to honor their warranty because of humidity levels. We have a new air/ humidity system in the home so that seemed unlikely. We had an independent inspector come in to tell us if there really could have been a humidity problem. He said there was not. This has been a long and disappointing process. We spent more on the floor because we thought it was a good quality. I don't know if it was the type of wood that was a problem or the brand, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We only have a dog and thought maybe we were overbuying but we wanted carpet that would last and trusted the Mohawk brand. Our satisfaction turned to great disappointment in a short time. The seams came undone after a few months. Our dealer came right out. It was found the backing at the seams was delaminating and was in many other places as well. We were told that the carpet was part of a bad batch and would be replaced.
Here we are two years later and the seams are doing the same thing again. The carpet looks brand new but in any area you examine, the layers of the backing pull apart with little effort, just like before. This time the manufacturer claims the carpet has been damaged by "a faint presence of urethra". Not only do I think this carpet is defective as well, I think the advertised claims about this product were blatantly false and a horrible misrepresentation of the durability and quality of this product. Based on my experience, I would recommend against the purchase of a Mohawk product.

This carpet has zero resilience, once it is crushed, it will not come back up - not even with steam. Also the seaming process is a challenge for an experienced installer. It took 3 separate shipments of carpet from Mohawk (over a three month period) for a small installation to receive an undamaged (No Crush Type Marks) piece of carpet. We moved into our brand new home around three years ago and paid for quite a few upgrades, with upgraded Mohawk carpet being one of them. Within the first year we noticed that the carpet looked years old with wear patterns so we called the company that had installed the carpet during the building process. Upon inspection they contacted Mohawk because it appeared that in our dining room area a large area of the carpet had come away from the backing. An inspector was sent who in turn sent a sample to Mohawk, to their credit they agreed to replace the carpet. Fast forward to installation day, all of our furniture is moved out of all of the bedrooms, living room, dining room, etc..
Once all of the old carpet is removed the new carpet is unwrapped and it is determined that part of the backing is already detached on the new carpet. A phone call is made and the decision is to put all of the old carpet back down while we wait for another "upgrade" for our inconvenience. After 2-3 hours the old carpet is back down and the furniture is back in place (vacation day wasted). Once the new carpet is in stock we schedule another day with the installers (another vacation day). The process of furniture removal, old carpet removal, new carpet placement, furniture put back into place takes several hours. The carpet looked great for around a month. I noticed that every time we vacuumed there would be strands sticking up everywhere, we decided that it was probably because the carpet was new and went about our business.
I started noticing distinct lines in the carpet that turned into full separation so I contacted the installer again and sent pictures, they in turn sent the pictures to Mohawk. Another "independent" inspector was sent to look at the carpet. I explained what had happened the first time with the separation on the first batch and the replacement that was new on the truck and was told that all carpets experience separation on the ends and that it is not at all unusual. I thought it was odd that he would start defending Mohawk as soon as he arrived. Anyway, the claim was denied and I was told that the seams need to be redone. I'm angry, frustrated, and seriously considering getting legal advice as to how to remedy this. It's horrible that I've lived in this home that we had built for around three years, I'm on my third batch of Mohawk carpet and I'm embarrassed to have people come over because of how our carpet looks.

I wasn't really concerned about the cost but more about how it's treated with the corn sugar versus being sprayed chemically with Scotchgard. It's one of the big things that pushed me to buy from Mohawk Flooring aside from the quality of their product. I don't want the carpet in my house with chemicals when I have kids crawling around on the floor. So far the flooring is good and looks great. I hope it holds up with three kids and a dog.

It feels good to walk on, and the only thing about it was that the room was bigger than the size of the rolls. And because it was patterned, it was very hard to match. But the guys who installed it worked very hard to get it right.

Nielsen Carpets a superb carpet dealer. It's not the first time that we dealt with them and they always steer us right. They've been business for many years and my parents used to buy carpets from them. We went into the store and asked what would be good. I saw this particular carpet from Mohawk and the store owner said, “Oh, that would be superb.” The carpet is beautiful, exquisite in our boat and were very happy with it. We have wool runners in our boat and the carpet has beautiful color tones the same as our runners. The only problem is one piece of the carpet came in defective. The store owner is dealing with it. We have had a few family emergencies and my husband hasn’t talked to him in a month but I’m sure we’ll resolve it.

Ordered our Mohawk Smartstrand Ultra Carpet from Belmont Carpet & Flooring Anaheim California. We waited 2 weeks for the carpet to be made. We received it only to discover it was very yellow and not the color I choose. We're now less than 2 weeks before Christmas with many family & friends coming to our home. We are having guests through the end of January. We have already moved 15 years of our family's life's collections. So much stuff! So much work trying to move everything out of the way. Ron our sales guy from Belmont Carpet said we should go ahead and install this carpet as the installers already removed much of our old upstairs carpet before we saw the color difference. We agreed to install the wrong shade (like we really had no other choice). They said we could wait until after Christmas or when we're ready they would install the correct carpet at no charge.
Today is January 25th 2016. This carpet is terrible, with lots of issues! The first issue is the quality of the carpet, it's already showing wear up our stairs and some of the loops already have come apart. I have tried to vacuum this carpet on the raised high setting and it does not glide easy on it. Even borrowed my neighbor's fancy vacuum only to have the same problem, it just will not easily glide across this carpet! I have many photos showing the issues. I also have the original sample board showing the differences in color which is very apparent. Even the installers stated this is a big difference in color. The installers are another story, I DO NOT want them back in our home at all. They left behind many tacks and staples. I have them in a zip lock bag with photos of all of this mess (lots of tacks).
As we had several small children and one baby over for Christmas and fortunately we found the tacks and staples before they embedded in their little bodies. Poor craftsmanship. We own vintage and family inherited furniture and now finding them very rickety and some scratching on my furniture. Also scratches on our walls and doors which are all new. There is much more about these installers and what we went through with them! Back to the carpet, I don't see how another roll of this same carpet is going to be better, other than the color. After what our family has went through, I do not want this carpet and would like my money back to purchase quality carpet for our home. Belmont Carpet and Flooring installed our wood flooring a few months back and did a excellent job with the wood flooring being my favorite. Totally different installers too!!! PLEASE we just want our life to get back to normal, hope you can help us! Thank you!

Within the first two-three weeks, the carpet began to look extremely worn. Lowe's flooring manager came and said it shouldn't be wearing this much. I went into a local reputable dealer, looked at a bunch of different things and ended up with a carpet from Mohawk Flooring which we had installed in the living, dining, stairs, all upstairs, bedrooms and hallway, anywhere that there were carpets. The ones that I was considering are right around in the same ballpark but I wanted to make sure they're builder-grade and something that would last. I also looked at ones which are more of a synthetic kind that is somewhat new on the market and all the rage. However to me it hasn't been around long enough so I don't know what's going to happen in 15 years down the road. I wanted some quality so I went with Mohawk's product. I also chose them because of the feel, density and color of their carpet. The guys that installed it also moved stuff for us, worked darn quick and vacuumed when they were done. We've always had the flat ones because I don't like vacuum marks on top of the carpeting, but this one has all this shading and shows vacuum marks. However, it feels a little warmer with the shading and is not as flat and cold, so we like that feature of it. We built a new semi-custom home in early 2014. We upgraded our carpet and (pads) from the builder's basic to Mohawk Frieze. The carpet was installed only on the stairs and in the 5 bedrooms of our new home (no carpet in the main downstairs living areas). After about 6 months, the carpet was extremely worn and looked much more like 6 YEARS old. There only 2 adults and 2 youth age children and 1 (12lb) dog (that doesn't shed) that live in our home. I vacuumed the carpets weekly (sometimes 2x per week) with a high quality vacuum.
At our one year inspection with our builder, I included the bad carpeting but they denied replacing it b/c an independent inspector determined no manufacturing related issues. Therefore, the carpet is just poor quality. We have a over a half a million dollar new, beautiful home, but the carpet looks like it's in a $50K home. I would like Mohawk to replace my carpets or give me the value to replace them with something of much higher quality. The frieze style carpet should not be sold anymore. It does not withstand any use-period.

Tufts have continued to come out of our Mohawk Truly Tender III carpet since installation in the summer of 2013, with extreme crushing in areas of use. The area sales rep and an inspector both looked at the carpet shortly after installation saying it was normal and that we should expect the tufts to cease to come up and out after 6 months or so. The tufts continue to come up and out and the crushing is much worse in this carpet than the traffic area of the 20 year old carpet in an adjacent room. Regular sweeping is ineffective in the areas of crushing.
A couple months ago, Mohawk consumer affairs told me our only recourse was to pay for and get an independent inspection report and submit it to our retailer, which we did. The report was forwarded to the retailer on 11/20/15, who said he would get it to the area sales rep for handling. To date there has been no response. The analysis from the independent inspector report states "The sprouted tufts observed are not a normal characteristic of the style selected. The condition does not appear to be related to improper use or maintenance. This condition appears to be manufacturing related due to low tuft bind." A house guest was recently overheard looking at the carpet, asking another guest "what's wrong with this carpet?"

The flooring has met my expectations and more. It was really a hard job for this guy to do because the rug has a pattern. He put the pattern on and it’s like he did one solid piece on the whole top floor. The pattern runs in the same direction. There’s no flaw at all and it’s incredible.

Why I was recommended this product I have no idea. There are so many track marks, my two-week old carpet looks easily ten years old and constantly stained. It creates such a messy look in my newly remodeled home. I'm embarrassed to have people over to look at all the other work we've had done.
Please don't even get me started on the fact that no one warned me the $300 specialty super lightweight vacuum that was purchased to accommodate my shoulder injury would not work on this carpet. An injury that flared up after one vacuuming attempt on the Mohawk carpet, might I add. I have literally shed tears over this carpet, I'm so unhappy. I've been told there's nothing that can be done and that a claim cannot be submitted for this reason. Apparently customer satisfaction is not high on Mohawk's list of concerns. I like Mohawk Flooring's products. I've had new carpet done by Mohawk Flooring in two bedrooms of my house. It's a nice carpet and I like the feel of it. It's very soft and pretty. It cleans nice because I have little dogs, so I thought it was a technological improvement on carpet and fiber from nylon, cotton, and polyester. But since I upgraded to a very plush, thicker carpet (one of the better ones) I didn't know that it would show a lot of footprints which no one ever told me. I also didn't realize that my vacuum was going to have a hard time sucking on such thick carpets, so it's hard to push around and I don't know what I'm going to do about it. I might have to buy a new vacuum cleaner that has more adjustments.
Aside from that, it was very bad that the place where we purchased the carpet from never told me about the rebate that we could get from purchasing the carpet. The only way I found out was reading about it in the newspaper one day and it was a rather hefty purchase. They also need to talk to their dealers about being more forthcoming.

I purchased a frieze style carpet from an authorized retailer. I have had it 5 years. We had the best carpet and pad available installed. There are two of us in the residence. The carpet has began unraveling in traffic areas. It appears 15 years old. Anywhere out of the traffic looks as good as new. We cleaned it as required. This is the worst floor covering I have seen for durability ever. Mohawk is very poor in the customer service area and has made no written responses to my request. Don't even bother with the phone number they give you. It has never been answered no matter the time I call. It appears I will have to seek legal remedies.

I went to a store in Temecula, CA, The Homeplace Flooring & Design, and the owner, Mike **, knew exactly what I described liking from Home Depot. He was very knowledgeable and helpful, and despite some installation complications, we were very pleased with it for about 7-8 months. It always was difficult to vacuum, but has gotten so flattened and worn after 3 years, it does not even lift or fluff after a good vacuuming. It looks dingy and dirty even after a professional steam cleaning.
Under the couch and beds, it's great, but what about normal pathways from only two people living here with two small dogs. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED AND UNHAPPY I CANNOT PUT INTO WORDS! This was supposed to be the BEST fiber available for the 20-year warranty in all the categories, like "texture retention" and "durability" and "fade resistance" and "limited lifetime stain" and a few others. We did NOT even get a decent wear for ONE year on this MUCH LESS 20! I have a call into the store we purchased from, but have not heard back from them yet. Fantastic ultra-plush and ultra-soft carpet. We have lived in our home now for 2 years and the carpet is as good as the day we moved in. We have had 2 doggie accidents that cleaned up with ease (no chemicals or soaps, just water). These were pretty foul accidents yet the carpet cleaned easy and left zero odor behind. We have them professionally cleaned once a year and this has proved to keep them at their tip top. I've never experienced a carpet this fine and durable. The only downside we've experienced is finding a vacuum that works on such a dense and plush product. Our Dyson (even after modification) wouldn't work at all. We went with several other top brands and models with the same results. So far the cheap Wind Tunnels are ok, they are just poorly constructed and a pain to deal with. So if anyone from Mohawk can point me to a quality vacuum to properly care for my carpet, I'd really appreciate it. Either way, this isn't a deal breaker at all. We have had this carpet in our home for almost 2 years now and it looks and feels like we just put it in yesterday! It is by far the softest carpet you will EVER feel, and people just love touching it, laying on it, and walking on it with bare feet!
My only concern has been that the higher pile, better, and higher priced version that we put in our master bedroom definitely has a higher tendency to show movement. Meaning, it's not wearing down, but when you "brush" it one way it's lighter and yet much darker the other way so you can really tell when it's been freshly vacuumed and then when someone has walked on it. It's not THAT big of a deal, but to some people it might be.
Otherwise, I really appreciate the free cleaning solution that I get from the store that I purchased the carpet from (because you're only supposed to use the one kind) and it's really easy to clean up spills, pet accidents, etc. and I haven't had ANY stains or anything yet!

I didn't have high expectations for this product, having tried many tile and grout cleaners to no avail. My white tile is original for the house„@15 years old and the light gray grout is very discolored in some areas. I had already done part of the floor when I remembered a friend had given me some of this to try and I am so glad I did. It's not hard to clean the ceramic tiles„most soil just wipes off, but grout is another thing entirely. I sprayed the product on down the grout seams and did a little scrubbing with a couple different brushes. An old tooth brush worked best. I could see discolored cleaner coming up and was delighted to see the difference when I wiped up any excess liquid. The product is clear and has a light lemon scent. It worked so well I was a little concerned that it might bother my hands but they were fine. Spray, scrub, wipe... Fabulous!

I spent a very long time researching carpets, and I finally told my wife that I think we should buy smartstrand silk. We are both retired now ....living on fixed incomes....so we wanted a carpet that would last a long time. Also, we have always had 2 Siamese cats in our 42 years of marriage and these are our 3rd pair...guess we liked Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young,s song that said "with 2 cats in the yard ...life used to be so hard....now everything is easy cause of you". Sooooooooo I found out that there is NO carpet sold that will warrant against cat vomit. But smartstrand silk seemed to be the best choice for cleaning it up. I was also concerned about offgassing and environmental polluting ..Well...so far I can attest to the ease in cleaning up cat puke. Three times so far.....and it came up with ease.......kind of laid on the carpet instead of sinking into it. It was easy to scoop off and wipe and dry with a paper towel. There was also no offgassing as far as I could smell....might be because the installer had our brand in stock ,.but I tried to keep the windows open as long as possible for 3 days like they suggested.. And since 1/3 of the carpet is made from corn, I felt like we had done our share for the environment too. We have had many compliments on the new carpet.....especially on how soft it is......even tho we got the carpet with the smallest height of thickness.....using the smartcushion seemed to make the carpet feel thick and soft. So my wife and I are very satisfied with our purchase and want to thank you.

I called the place we got it from and they came out in June and looked at it and told me it was supposed to look this way. It is awful looking and they won't do anything. It is flat and worn. We are doing some remodelling and they asked if we wanted to replace the carpet since it was looking "shabby" - I cried. I spend almost 10k getting this carpet and it looks just awful. We had Mohawk Smartstrand carpet installed in our house approx. 3-1/2 years ago. The carpet has a 20 or 25 year warranty on retaining its color, texture, etc. Within a year it began to show wear, losing fiber definition in areas of foot traffic. Our household consists only of my wife and myself, so it does not get much wear and tear, especially when compared to households with larger families.
This past April, we filed a claim with the installer of the carpet, Cloud Carpet One of Las Vegas. They sent an inspector out who took photos, a sample of the carpet, and then he was going to write a report. Months went by, and after some prompting, Mohawk arranged to have a supposed outside inspector come out to examine the carpet. Again, photos and measurements were taken, with a report to be forthcoming. After further inquiries from us, we finally were told in early October the carpet claim had been denied as it was "normal wear and tear." The inspector determined that on a texture scale of 1.0 - 5.0, our carpet in areas was rated a 3.0. This was conveniently the lowest level that was deemed acceptable by the manufacturer and thus, the warranty claim was denied.
The builder's grade carpet originally in the house lasted 10 years, and outside of it showing the traffic paths, had held up much better than the Smartstrand carpet after only 3 years. Even with the warranty, I never expected this carpet (or any carpet for that matter) to last 20 years. I did expect this carpet to at least last as long as the original carpet installed by the builder had. For the carpet to show the wear that it is exhibiting after only 3-1/2 years and have the manufacturer say everything is fine is inexcusable.
The carpet was (and is) very soft, and did look nice new. The durability of the Smartstrand is horrible. We had the carpet cleaned as recommended, and vacuumed it on a regular basis. For Mohawk to deny the claim, basing it on a subjective 3.0 determination from an inspector that they had arranged for, shows they do not stand behind their product. A 3.0 (if it was a 3.0) after 3 years is not acceptable for a carpet that cost as much as this one did. Avoid Smartstrand and Mohawk. The carpet is not durable and the manufacturer will not honor the warranty.

I'm going to follow up with our Consumer Affairs team regarding your claim, and I'll send you a private message about potential next steps. I apologize again for your experience, Michael. My wife and I moved to a new city and decided to build our dream home. This would be our first, and hopefully last build as we wanted the home to be perfect. Throughout the process of construction, the builder was attentive to our needs and for the most part supplied us with information to make informed decisions. The carpet was a big choice as over 3000 sq.ft. of the home was getting it. We decided on the Mohawk Simply Soft carpet because of how soft and luxurious it felt to the touch. In addition, the Mohawk Simply Soft carpet was rated high in durability and stain resistance. Definitely needed with two small children running around.
When we were doing the final walkthrough of the house before we took possession, my wife and I noticed that the Mohawk Simply Soft carpet no longer felt soft and luxurious. In fact, I got on all fours and proceeded to crawl on the carpet realizing that it hurt my knees. It felt as if I was crawling on cheap drop rug on hardwood flooring. I questioned the builder several time and they stated that a standard 8lbs. underlay was used. This qualifies under the minimum requirements of Mohawk for their product, but we are now left with a disappointing carpet in our million dollar dream home. We feel we spent a lot of money on this home and we did not get the quality, luxurious carpet we were looking for.
My thoughts are the builder did not do enough research on the type of carpet and underlay that should have been used. During my limited research I have found that the Mohawk Simply Soft carpet needs a thicker, softer, more supportive underlay than what was provided to us. Minimum requirements were met but is there not a recommended underlay builders should be inquiring about. Please help us as we feel helpless in our new home.
