Replacement of 3 Failed Window. The warranty claim process through the Sacramento Office took too long. The claim was submitted online on May 27th and the replacement windows were not installed until July 22. There was confusion in Milgard's correspondence to us about the number of windows to be replaced. The telephone wait time to speak to a representative is not acceptable. In addition, about 8 windows have failed in the 14 years since we built our home. The representatives we dealt with were fine but the process was not good.

I'm so sorry to hear about the delay in warranty service. We take all customer feedback very seriously. I will look up your case number and provide it to the service team in Sacramento so they can make improvements to their processes. Thank you for taking the time to let us know this occurred.

Our Milgard sliding glass door was really sticking and seemed to have lost its original "fit." Even though the company that installed this door was no longer in business, Milgard support sent out someone and fixed it so it is working like new! Maybe even better than new! We changed all of our windows and doors 16 years ago and are pleased that Milgard stands by its guarantee. Thanks! Lynne

Lock was replaced before and this worked fine for a couple of months, then would not work. Tech found that hole in the bottom was plugged and would not let the lock work. I felt kind of stupid for not looking at this myself. Chuck was great.

Appreciated the on time arrival and professionalism of men. It is very difficult to get an appointment, lengthy wait time on phone to speak to representative. I waited 45 minutes last time I called. I waited several weeks to have someone come out to look at the windows, and a lengthy time to have replacement work done. All customer service people were very good!

Installed these windows as a renovation project in our house. I can say their warranty service is top notch. We have had these windows for 15+ years and as with many products small items like hinges and handles break over time. Milgard has stood behind the windows every time with timely remedies including two windows where the gas seal broke. The installer was on time and very professional. I am grateful for the great service from Milgard.

This review is more about the lack of customer service than the windows themselves.I live in Scottsdale AZ and had all my windows recently replaced with Milgard Ultra windows 21 & 22 June. On the final day the spare bedroom window was found to be missing a sash (25/50/25 window). I was there when the installer opened the sealed box from the factory, no sash inside. Also, my master bedroom and bathroom windows were missing hardware.
The contractor made all the notes and delivered them to Lowe's who promptly sent the information to Milgard. I received an email from Milgard the following Monday (24 June) assigning me a case number (**) advising me that someone would be contacting me to remedy the situation; I patiently waited. I never received a call or email after which prompted me to call Milgard in Temecula 1 July. In speaking to their customer service representative and providing my case number, the young lady repeatedly told me that she had never heard of or saw where a window was missing out of the package. I assured her it was but she decided to repeat her same comments five more times.
At the end of the conversation she told me that I needed to contact LOWE'S, this was not Milgard's problem. I asked her if it was not their problem then why did I have a case # assigned. She stated there was nothing in my case file and that she did not know why I had a case file. To say I was irritated is an understatement. I contacted LOWE'S here in Scottsdale and they immediately started making calls which I really appreciated. I received 3 calls from Milgard "Leads" after who did not leave names and were requesting I call them back with information regarding their windows, blew my mind!
I called and spoke to "Denette" from Milgard on 9 July who was very nice. She reached out to Lowe's and finally figured out what was going on. She advised me that my window and hardware was a Milgard issue and could be installed 5 AUGUST! 42 days after they were notified of the issue! I advised them that that did not work so they did me a favor and offered 2 Aug!
I have had a window boarded up in my house and another that can be lifted out with ease since 22 June! Not what I would call safe or reassuring; I will not even mention the 110 degree weather, I'm sure that board is keeping the cool air in. Waiting to see what kind of mess I will have now that Monsoon season is here! ** This is what $14K gets you from Milgard. ** To the executives and Sr. managers at Milgard, Jilliane **, Kevin **, Chris ** and Kathy **, I pray I am the only person your company treats like this. As a retired Military veteran and current Firefighter, I am proud that I never treated or will treat my customers as you have me.

6th window where the seal leaked and the panes needed to be replaced. In all service calls, the repair persons were polite, did a good job, and cleaned up their debris. Took 3 trips to get the last one - 1) manufacturing did not add the 1 inch to the pane measurements 2) window broke in transit 3) completed.

My lock was loose and not locking correctly and the handle was loose. The Milgard repair was very quick and efficient. He repaired the problem. I am very pleased with the Milgard service. I recommend Milgard to EVERYONE! I will NOT use any other company! Milgard is the BEST.

I submitted my warranty request and received a confirmation email then and had no response for a month only to find out that none of my information went through when I followed up. Then I had to continually resend information via email which was extremely frustrating. The repair person was EXCELLENT! He put HIS EYES on the issues and repaired them immediately... IT SEEMS the online and the emails before it were worthless. As soon as your guys has eyes on it problem solved.

I was thoroughly impressed. I bought my windows 30 years ago. They’ve obviously lasted well until I had an issue with the seal on one. With the warranty still in effect, it was replaced free of charge. I would definitely recommend Milgard to anyone buying new windows.

Scheduling department was very nice and helpful. The service technician called before arriving and was extremely professional and fixed all issues with our sliders. While I would not have expected to have issues with a brand new door, they were resolved and repairs completed.

French Door repair. The technician sent named Ed was great. He fixed the issue and provided guidance on the door that we didn’t have knowledge about to properly lock it. He also assured us to call with any type of problem which reinforced Milgard’s customer service theme.

Spring mechanism broke on one double hung window. The Milgard technician replaced the spring mechanisms on all six windows in the house, all on the lifetime warranty (no charge). All six windows done in 20 minutes. Outstanding service from Milgard and the technician.

Two windows, roughly 15 years old, were repaired under lifetime warranty. I was very pleasantly surprised by this warranty service. My only minor complaint was the difficulty in getting through your phone queues, but I did always receive a callback.

We had a new patio door installed and needed to resolve some issues with the frame. Milgard was very quick to respond and schedule service. The tech who came out was fast and thorough. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is he left sticker residue on the frame and didn’t clean the door before he left. But overall, they had a good response and good customer service.

Repair sliding glass door. The person who came to the job was extremely nice and apologized for being very late. His attitude diffused my frustration for having to wait at home all afternoon. My negative review would go to the phone line for the repair services in Sacramento. I was put in a 45 min callback and no one returned my call.

We have probably 15 windows in our house and one of them didn't look right, it appeared like hard water stains on the inside. 1 call to Milgard and within a week a technician came out and replaces the glass. Quick and professional.

I had to have 12 windows replaced within the time frame of 7 years on a new construction. Milgard talked me through all of the information that I needed to provide for each window, and I scheduled an appointment. Milgard came and replaced all 12 windows within an hour and a half. I am very pleased with the results. I hope that these windows last longer than the previous ones.

Service technician named Ramon came on time and installed 2 new windows at no charge (great warranty) because the seals had leaked. He and all they other technicians who’ve had to come out have always been on time and very professional and helpful. The only negative thing was that I had to wait for close to 8 weeks for the appointment and they only offer Tuesdays for service and no other days, so I had to stay home from work.

Sorry to hear about the delay in service and it's good to know that Ramon did a great job for you under the warranty. We will do our best to make improvements to our service times going forward. Thank you for your feedback.

Excellent, professional service. The installation/repair team was friendly and personable. They worked well together to quickly get the job done. I asked a question about the latch mechanism of another window (wondering if it needed a service call). Within five minutes after taking a look at it, the window was working perfectly. The outer glass on a patio door had shattered. When I called to get a quote on the replacement I was told that it was covered under warranty. The door was replaced today the installers were polite and quickly replaced the glass assembly. They also cleaned all of the area. I would give you a 10+ for your outstanding service.

Nice, respectful and on time. The only problem was.that I received a text message saying arrival time was. Between 7-9 AM. When service techs did not show up by 10:00 I called customer service, was, on hold for 30 minutes only to be told the text message was wrong! Needless to say I was a little upset since I got up at the crack of dawn in case they showed at 7. Actual time was between 1-3.

Edgar was super kind and courteous. He took the time to analyze the window even if it wasn’t that off track. He decided it’s best to re glaze and reset the window. We spent thousand of dollars redoing our entire house with brand new upscale Milgard windows. We did not install the sliding glass door screen until recently. Apparently, you have 2 weeks to let them know that they sent you a screen door that was the wrong fit. I waited on the phone for over a hour to have someone tell me, "Sorry, you will have to go to Lowe's or Home Depot and figure it out." Should have bought all my windows through them as their customer service has got to be better than this. Very disappointed since I have been referring my clients to Milgard for the past 30 years.

Overall, Milgard was very good in responding to replacing my two windows that leaked over the winter. The only negative to report is that the tech scheduled originally did not make the appointment and another date had to be scheduled. Otherwise, the scheduling staff and on site techs did a great job.

We bought 5 Milgard windows which came incorrect from what we ordered. Then had issues with the windows. I wrote a review. It was reviewed, it was DENIED!. I was TOLD it could be CENSORED to be REVIEWED again.... Milgard DOES NOT POST THEIR NEGATIVE REVIEWS!! BEWARE!!

The young man who came by to install my new parts on my sliding glass door called to ask if he could come early - which worked great for me - and then he promptly removed my old hardware and installed the new door lock which had previously broken. All in all a very satisfactory experience.

This is our 5th time with replacement since original Oct. 2003 install. Glad we had the lifetime warranty! All employees involved were friendly and helpful. The team of Rachel at the order desk and Nick and Arron, installers were professional quick and proficient! The length of time from request to install was a bit long. 86 days total.

Bought Lux Tuscany French doors, but contractor unable to close gap when adjusting it. Service guys came in and adjusted it in 5 minutes. They answered my questions and explained how the mechanisms in my door worked. Personable and knowledgeable, I would recommend!!

We have continued to buy Milgard windows over the years because of their quality. We have had to have Milgard come out and replace a broken window. Obviously, we needed to pay for it, but sometimes things do happen and the window fails. The warranty was amazing. They hold true to the warranty. Also, the installers were very professional and efficient. Definitely recommend Milgard to everyone.

Accidentally broke a window installed a year ago. Called installer and received immediate email, case number and phone call from Milgard. The technician arrived today and replaced the window. In all less than 2 weeks. Excellent service.

Outswing clad door would not properly lock and the 3 point lock hardware would not operate. Rob from Milgard was on time, even a little early and quickly remedied the problem. He raised the door panels, cut away some redundant weatherstripping and loosened some hardware that was over-tightened at the factory. Fix took approx. 15 minutes and he was great. Only complaint, the fix took about 15 days to complete after the original call to Milgard. This was an issue because this was the only locking entrance to the cabin.

Ordered quite a few windows from Valley Oak Builders Supply. Had them professionally installed by a licensed general contractor. One of them developed a fracture in the first three days after install. Valley Oak called Milgard and we got a service call claim and appt set. The process couldn't have been more smooth and professional. We are very happy.

My ratings are for the service provided by the customer service representatives, and not the product. Specifically, the Milgard service technician was punctual and very professional. Due to the chronic discoloration of the double-pane windows that were installed 10-years ago, I have a feeling that I will be see more of the service technicians in the near future.

The on site personnel showed up early, quickly replaced the windows. Happy with the experience. Had some issues locating my original order from 15 yrs prior. Had to contact dealer since Milgard couldn't find my order in system with my name, phone or address. System should be robust in tracking if you offer lifetime warranty. Original manufacturer install labels on windows don't hold up to sunfade.

Milgard notified me two days prior to my appointment with a two hour arrival window. The service techs arrived on time at beginning of the two hour window. They were friendly, pleasant, and efficient. They completed the replacements in about twenty minutes. Very satisfied.

Finally, Milgard reps that had answers and was able to resolve repeated complaints regarding new door installed approximately two months ago. Tim ** (Territory Mgr) and Dell ** (technician) were true professionals! In 45 - 60 minutes these two professional corrected discrepancies that we were told by more than one person that "those discrepancies were normal." Just disappointed that it got to the point that required these two individuals to resolve our issues. Up to this point I could not honestly give my experience with Milgard even one star.

Services technicians were great! On time and fixed problem right away. Getting a technician was more difficult. No schedule date or follow up number provided via e-mail. The 800 number had 6 hour wait, then sent me to the Simi Valley office. Had to be redirected to Sacramento office, Once we connected to Sacramento office, things went well.

It was incredibly helpful to be able to leave the sliding portion of our window on the porch for the tech to look at the locking mechanism. This meant that I didn't need to take time off work and wait around for an issue that took the tech maybe ten minutes to fix. I left a little note on the window thanking the tech, it brought a smile to me to see when I got home that the tech not only fixed the lock but also wrote "You're welcome" on the note. I continue to be very impressed with Milgard's service.

I destroyed the spring mechanism in my new double hung window when trying to adjust it myself. Milgard scheduled a repair session with no questions asked other than a picture of the affected area, technician showed up right on time and repaired the window in less than 20 minutes. Octagon dual pane window. Initial response seemed very slow. It took over 30 days and a second email before I heard a response. Then the install team showed up with a square window. Today the installer showed up with the correct window and had the replacement installed is less than an hour.

The service tech came out to fix a couple locks that I could not get working on my new sliding doors. He fixed them quickly and showed me what he did so that I could hopefully fix them correctly next time when I install other doors.

Window replacement went well (2nd time). When the order was placed for the new window; the tech that took my call should have asked more questions; like: what is the location of the window - does it need to be tempered? That way, only one trip would have been necessary.

Our screen door had popped out, and was scraping the rail. We tried to put it back in, but were not successful. The technician was great, he called because he was ahead of schedule, and wanted to come early. He was in and out quickly, and explained what was happening and assured me if I had issues again, just call and they would send someone out. Also showed he how to fix this issue (easy 10 seconds max) so I don’t have to wait for service next time.

The two guys that came were very pleasant. They were able to adjust the doors and everything works. The one thing that I find hard to believe was that when we called in to set up a service call we were told to basically adjust it ourself or asked if we had done it on a yearly basis. After watching these two guys adjust the door there was no way I would have been able to adjust the doors but the instructions given on your website.

We had two sets of 13 year old sliding doors that never interlocked properly. Our first visit by a tech diagnosed that the sliding door panels were not sized properly and the interlocks would not reach each other. He ordered replacement door panels and they were installed on appointment several weeks later. Techs were professional with their work and communicated well with me given I was not home during the work and they had to enter and exit on their own. The whole process was highly professional and I really appreciate a manufacturer that services its own products and truly lives by their life-time warranty. Milgard is highly recommended for superior customer focus and commitment to warranty despite the original door sizing problem.

Apparently there was too much gas in the patio door and the installer was worried about it. The Milgard man explained that he could fix it or not, our decision. We chose to leave it alone. We also had a track that kept popping up. He fixed that. He also explained how to clean the tracks and the screens. He was very helpful. Actually, two Milgard workers showed up, they were both very pleasant and helpful.

When my window was finally replaced, it was a good experience. The technician was very professional. Only complaints are: the extreme delay in the arrival of the replacement window. Milgard cancelled my service on 4 separate occasions. I was told that the window broke each time. Also, when the technician finally arrived, he did not call me beforehand. He called when he arrived at my house, but did not leave a message. I was literally five minutes from the house, so I had to reschedule again!! Many frustrations with Milgard's scheduling/rescheduling and arrival.

Efficiently replaced 2 windows, adjusted track on slider door. Took number on an additional window needing replacement. Warranty office said they would be able to place a work order for this window. The guys said no. I had to call it in. Called it in and they couldn't find a record of purchase for that window. Had the same experience with the original order, but diligent searching did find the original order. Hopefully this will be straightened out. Two separate fix glass panels along side sliding patio door failed. Moisture got on the inside and seem to fog and grow some mold. I first called and left a message but there was no call back. I then went to the website and filled out the questionnaire for warranty work. I was called about three weeks later and sent requested photos and dimensions in. About a week later I was called with an appointment time to replace the two window panels. I was surprised by their great response once I filled out their questionnaire on these field windows.
Installers showed up on time and were courteous and professional and efficient. The two window panels were replaced. I commend Milgard for stepping up for this warrantee replacement at no cost to me. So many of today’s businesses do not respond well or at all to warranty claims. I told many of my friends of this positive experience with Milgard and how they stood by their product after about 15 years. That builds a solid reputation!

Technicians called while on the way and arrived in a timely manner, with replacement part for window lock. Checked out the problem and tried adjustment to resolve the problem. Finally decided that part replacement was necessary, which they proceeded to do. Adjusted the system for easy of operation, but suggested that if opening and closing was still too difficult for my wife we might contact Home Depot to replace the thumb screws with small levers. I would have been happier if they had just offered to send me the small lever handles.

Repair sticky latches - Very quick and friendly service. The latches on 2 windows were hanging up and the repairman trimmed the pieces and applied silicone to the tracks. They now operate with ease and lock securely. Very pleased with the result.

Warranty repair and replacement door. The men who are here today installing the door were fantastic. But I think it’s taken a year to get it fixed. I replaced the lock once then I had to wait three months for a service call again. And then decided to replace the door. It was another at least three month wait. I contacted Milgard because I was having difficulty opening and closing my single hung windows. My windows were installed 28 years ago when we built our custom home. Two repairmen came out and measured my windows and ordered new side parts for 14 windows. They came back today and installed the new parts. This was all covered under the Lifetime Warranty. I am extremely happy with the professional way the service was conducted. I would highly recommend Milgard windows to anyone who is looking for windows for their home.

We purchased a home with Milgard windows a little more than a year ago and ALL 3 of the large daylight windows all have the rainbow discoloring from a bad seal and our slider is starting to do this. Our house is only 13 years old but since we are not the original owners we are 3 years too late for the warranty but they would have offered a lifetime to the original owners. I understand warranties and I get all of this but seriously all 3 of the same type size windows in our house are bad - seems like maybe an issue with the lot of windows they used considering its .004, .008, .009 serial numbers and .012 for the slider and to only be good for 13 years? Not to mention I felt like customer service was just a little less than sympathetic. We will never replace with or recommend using Milgard windows to anyone.

Updated on 06/28/2019: I posted in May issues I had with Milgard in getting replacement balancers for broken windows. They quickly responded on this site with an email and someone to contact. I did so. The rep was very kind and told me they would have the issues resolved quickly. I was contacted by Milgard telling me that the balancers were on their way. Several weeks later, they have not shown up and the rep is at a loss for why this is happening. I see so many good reviews, I'm at a loss why this is happening. It shouldn't take 2 months+ to get a replacement part for a faulty window.
Original Review: My Milgard windows are approximately 13 years old. Recently they have all slowly been failing. The balancers coils and/or cords have been breaking. I have about 4 windows in my house that are inoperable. As easy as Milgard makes it to replace these parts, they make getting the parts very difficult. I've been filling out the online forms, responding to emails about dimensions of the windows and after close to 90 days of this am still no closer to getting the parts replaced. AND I'm trying to BUY them. Looked at 3rd party websites to get parts but cannot determine proper part numbers so I'm stuck.

I left a note on the door for Tye to help himself to the deck in back of house to replace slider glass - when I came home on lunch break glass was replaced beautifully and he had left ME a note on the door saying he was done and to have a nice weekend! :) That was very good customer service and a welcomed site. My only complaint would be that the email that was sent out said that we had to remove the blinds, which was done and then all of his work was outside. My wife and I purchase a property in Julian CA to reside full time in from Point Loma in San Diego CA. We had remodeled our Point Loma home about 20 years ago and had installed all Milgard windows and were happy with the subsequent service that the windows and sliding doors required. So when we moved we decided to purchase and install 10 clad bottom awning windows, 2 wood interior windows and 5 wood interior doors. What a disaster!
First the windows and doors did not arrive on time. When they finally did arrive they were short a door. This door took an additional 2 months to arrive. Trying to get information was like pulling teeth. This over summer/fall/winter 2017. A really great time of year to have your home remodel ground to a halt. The subs finally had to leave for other jobs. So finally they all arrived and were installed and we were able to move in January 2018. Little did we know, our troubles were just beginning.
First, the screens for the awning windows all arrived bent as the quality of the build was poor. Additionally, one of the doors would not latch tightly. I then spent a year, yes a year contacting my customer service rep in Temecula CA "Manuel" trying to get a better hinged version. In the meantime, they have been out twice to attend to the door and it still has 1/4 inch of play!! When it's shut you can hear and see the wind whistling thru the seal! Back to the screens, they have scheduled an install 3 times in 2018 and each time I took a vacation day off to be home and they called me that morning to inform me that the wrong screens had arrived. It's now May 2019 and I have called Milgard 3 times in the last 2 weeks and left messages with my cell number and have yet to hear from anyone. Do yourself a favor, don't pick these guys. If you do expect nothing but lip service for their "lifetime" guarantee.

The second visit, a month later, was scheduled for between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM with your representative arriving at our residence at 9:30 AM. They had a “fog” that screened the windows and you couldn’t see clearly through the glass. I called to find out what we can do to replace the windows. Jim came to our house to replace a window that had been damaged and discolored as a result of moisture intrusion. We live about a mile from the beach so there is dampness every morning from the ocean. Jim came prepared with a new window. The process of replacement took less than 10 or 11-minutes because as I recall, he was interrupted by a call from his boss. Jim explained that the window was installed backwards in the frame from the factory in Simi Valley. The E-coating was on the wrong side and exposed to the damp moisture in the morning air. Lucky for us the Milgard warranty covered defective windows. Good job all around. We are satisfied.

We got 18 zbar replacement windows and three sliding glass doors installed. Two of the doors were damaged in shipping and the third door had a broken lock. We had two service calls and the techs were excellent. We are hopeful it's smooth sailing from here. If not, the service folks have been great.

Milgard continues to awe us with their excellent customer service. Today we had two door locks repaired. One door was a French door bought about 2 years ago. It is better than new now. The other door is a slider bought way back in 1995!!! It also is better than new. Since 1995 we have never bought any window or door that is not Milgard because of their excellent service. The servicemen were incredible. They always make me feel that the decision to buy Milgard can never go wrong. Thanks again to everyone involved!

I had a defective brand new window that was fixed by Milgard rep. I mentioned several of my windows were extremely hard to close ever since we got them brand new when we built the house 12 years ago. He said in fact the springs in those windows was defective and recalled. I was dismayed that I wasn't notified years back, but was thrilled he would take care of my entire house of windows at no charge. They work so effortlessly now. Thanks.

The lifetime warranty Milgard provides is extremely valuable. I've owned my Milgard windows for 14 years and I've had two windows where the glass cracked and those were not covered under the warranty, but I'm glad they cover glass discoloration because I've had 7 windows that Milgard replaced under warranty. I like that I can go on the website and request service. It's much more convenient than trying to do it by phone.

I am extremely pleased with the outcome of my service call. The technicians were great. They worked quickly and did a perfect job. My only complaint was that my order and service call was rescheduled twice because the part was incorrect. This was inconvenient but ultimately it was worth the wait to get everything completed so well.

Door replacement - The install went great, Felix was very professional and courteous. I did notice after the install was completed that the "outside" portion, (glass) on the stationary side of the slider is "flexing". I called and was informed that this is "normal". I hope this is correct as none of the other surfaces do this.

He was friendly, courteous and even cleaned the window and transferred back my kid's window sticker in the same corner. He was pleasant when I asked about the warranty. Very nice experience!!!

Excess silicone on one window, and screens on kitchen window with "LOCKING" pins that are darn near impossible to use. True, as pointed out by Milgard's service technician, the screens fit snuggly without the pins. But if the pins are there shouldn't they be easily used? Severely underwhelmed by poor quality control.

I had some window glass replaced under warranty. That was much appreciated. My complaints: 1) long wait times on the business office telephone and some disorganization in locating my order, and 2) an unfriendly first installer (but a nice second installer.) After all, the finished product was worth it!

The frame of at least three windows was separating from the glass. We noticed that 3-4 other windows are separating, but are within manufacturer's parameters, and was suggested to make another appointment when they separate more.

The service tech was great. Really nice and very efficient. The process to get him out to fix 2 windows was a nightmare. I started contacting Milgard in February. Way too many emails, phone calls and rude customer service people. I was made appointments I never agreed to, I was first told Milgard only came to Auburn on Tuesdays, then I was told a Saturday could be made. I never heard anything, I called to add the second window and was told there were NO Saturdays because no one wanted to work on Saturday! So my only option was a Tuesday, I watch my granddaughter on Tuesdays so my son had to take a day off work so I could be here. The very nice service person who came told me they would have and should have made an acceptation for a Friday or Saturday appointment. The last female I talked with on the phone back in the end of March was very rude. Not a way I feel customer service should be handled.

We had a single window seal (out of about 13 windows installed) fail. We called and you sent an expert technician to repair. Tech showed up as scheduled, repaired the window, and was on his way; he was cheerful, professional, and competent. We could not be more pleased with our purchase and with warranty. We will highly recommend Milgard because they stand by their products and their customers.

Mike, from Fruita, Colorado was due on site between 1 & 3PM. I was glad that I drove all the way from Grand Junction to Montrose to meet Mike because my Contractor was not there to let Mike into the house. Surprisingly my Contractor did show up. My Contractor makes appointments he does not keep so that's why I was there, to make sure Mike could complete his job. Mike arrived at 1PM and made the necessary repairs. He showed me how to use the French Sliding glass door. He was wonderful and thorough. Very professional, nice, friendly, experienced, quick and very eager to do everything to satisfy me and to make sure all of my questions and concerns were answered. From what I could see, Mike did quality work. He is the very best of the best repair men I have had. Thank you for hiring such a terrific person like Mike.

We bought our home in Gig Harbor in 2013, it was built in 2007. Yes, the windows have a lifetime warranty if you are the original homeowner. However, the windows have a 10 year warranty (after installation) if you are not the original homeowner. As of 2019, we have had 8 windows lose their seal and are expecting to have to replace at least 15 more in the next 5 years. We are looking at $2-3K per year for window replacement with no end in sight. We previously owned a home with all Andersen windows and never had a single one lose its seal in 27 years. Milgard produces a cheap product, clearly has a quality control issue and they will not stand behind their product. If you buy a home with Milgard windows, be prepared to replace them all over the next 5-10 years.

2 stars only because the repair people are wonderful. No stars for Milgard’s quality control. My review is mixed. I ordered 2 sets of French doors with sidelights in November 2017, they were due 2018, but came in very poor condition. I had to wait for 6 more weeks for redos. When the redos arrived they were also not up to the standards I had purchased. My door rep had a Milgard rep come to inspect them. The Milgard rep said... “Well, they are better than the last set”. I was shocked, and replied, 1. I didn't order "better than the last“ doors, I ordered NEW doors, 2. I told him he should be embarrassed by his comment. "I couldn’t believe Milgard would approve of your comment." - The second set of doors were installed May 2018 as an order went in for a 3rd set to replaced another 6+ weeks, the third set was replaced summer of 2018. These were fine.
At that point - I was annoyed, and stuck with these doors. So a back seal came off one main door, and in the opposite panel a wood panel bubbled. When they came to inspect they said it was bubbling because I didn’t seal the wood. They replaced the back seal... Two weeks later the back seal came off again. I called the service department and explained that at the piece came off again & I asked for a supervisor, none were available, each time I called, I explained that each time a door was replaced I would have to pay someone to seal the door, since I have the doors replaced multiple times in a year it would have cost me several hundred of dollars if I sealed the doors each time they installed another set of doors.
I have ordered doors before - with no issues after being installed. This is not the case with these Milgard Doors. Finally, a supervisor called & agreed to replace the door panel, I asked if it is normal for a customer to be constantly calling to service their doors? I explained my frustration, I also told her the Milgard rep story. I thanked her for agreeing to replace the door. But she didn’t seem fazed by my complaints. Basically, they do stand behind their lifetime warranty on doors, but I spent a lot of money on these doors. I have gotten no compensation for my time dealing with the problems. My lifetime will probably be shorter because of the stress it has put on me. I am not sure how this company has remained in business. I will not be buying from Milgard again...
My next replacement will be windows. But for now I have called monthly for one thing or another. The service people are nice. I just think - do it right the first time - then you are good. Keep the lifetime warranty. Do a full unit check 6 month/1 year & 5 year check package for a standard seal/hinge check/replacement. It’s been a stressful and unnecessary process. Sorry Milgard, your 1++ year business practice/quality control is costing you money. I can’t imagine a CFO/CEO thinks this is good - no other business runs this way. Customers do your due diligence - I thought I had, but clearly, I missed something.
Today is April 2: last Thursday Milgard was to install another replacement door for the downstairs set. When they arrived and we went to meet them, they had a chip of wood in their hand that had come off the door. But they replied, that wasn’t actually the problem. The problem was the door was not the correct size, it had been entered in the system incorrectly. So they literally drove here to tell us that. WTH!
I called and left a message w/ Kiim...a supervisor, the conversation concluded with, apologies (of course - I get lots of those) and a promise she would send me an email with the dimensions which would be followed up with a phone call with a date for the door installation. With the understanding that I am also going to continue the discussion about the fact that I am still having to pay AGAIN, to stain these doors which is not cheap. FRIDAY- no email, no call. Monday- no email, no call.
Finally a supervisor has confirmed a replacement door will come & will be inspected - the install will be April 30. Today 4/29/19, I get a call from the supervisor - the door is not good, they will need to make another door, I will be getting a call once it’s completed to set up an installation date. REALLY!!!! This is ridiculous. How is this ok? How is it that things can be wrong? What do I do - I don’t want these doors anymore! I will research my options.

The plastic track cover that you walk over when you go in and out of the door cracked after a few years of very light service. We contacted Milgard for a warranty repair and offered to install the track ourselves. We were told the cracked track was not covered under warranty and that I could not even purchase a replacement track cover from them.
They gave me a number for a plastics repairman who apparently does a lot of these repairs. He told me he purchases the track from Milgard and bonds a second piece of plastic to the back of it to strengthen it as the original track cover is thin and fails often. He told me he has made this repair to a lot of Milgard sliding glass doors. The cost of having him repair the track was crazy expensive. He said it was because he has to take the sliding glass door panel out to get to the part and then bond a new piece of plastic to the back of it for it to last. Milgard's warranty is pretty poor if it does not cover a design error like the plastic cover track being too thin to last.

Excessive force such as moving furniture through a door by dragging it can cause damage. I'm sorry that this does not fall under a defect in materials or workmanship. This is the 3rd time we have had a window replaced due to cracking/ breakage due to heat/cold reaction. We don’t even open these windows that are above our kitchen sink. The center window had to be replaced due to condensation. Each time I had to take off early from work for the installation. We just had every window and French doors replaced with Milgard windows and I am hoping we don’t have any problems like we have had in the kitchen.

We purchased our house 3 years ago and they had put Milgard windows throughout. I have had them come out a few times since we have lived here to replace the windows because the seals have broken and the inside of the window looks like it had scratches. I now how (3) more windows that this has happened to. I sent in a service request but was told that the transfer warranty is up and they cannot be replaced that I would have to go through a local vendor that carries those windows. I am reading on this website that another customer who had the experience was offered new windows but they had to pay for the labor. That was not an option that was offered to me. I have been a loyal customer of Milgard - we had them installed throughout my previous house. I am requesting that same service, I will pay for the labor, I just want the windows replaced. The windows look terrible and I would like them replaced. Looking forward to hearing from someone -
