    Customer satisfaction should begin with Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QA/QC). Sliding Glass Door arrived without weather stripping or door bumpers. The service representative that brought the weather stripping did not bring the door bumpers and suggest we cut a piece of wood for a bumper. The second service call forgot the door bumpers and said they will order and send them to me and I can install them. An incomplete assembly is a QA/QC problem, responsible employees are not checking their work.

    One of the French Door sets was not checked for closure prior to shipping. The doors were installed and the weather stripping did not fit. New doors had to be made and reinstalled later in the project. The pine clad doors require coating in of which will cost another $200 (approximately, the work is not complete). This cost is picked up by the owner for something that should have never left your shop with adequate QA/QC. Two upper level windows, one Awning and one Casement, were missing parts. This is also a QA/QC problem. The product representative, Manzanita Lumber, did nothing to help with the above problems. We received no notification or communication regarding the repairs. I, the owner, had to call Milgard and request a manager to get a response and even at that the service response took months. I can send back up Schedule and Progress Reports regarding timing of notifications and requests.

    The first service persons who worked on the Sliding Glass door on December 31, 2018, were uniformed and, at first, were reluctant to do anything. I repeatedly stated that the weather stripping/seal did not come with the original door. I was finally able to convince them of what was missing and the installed the weather stripping. However, they did not install the door bumpers. The first service visit was prompt and covered most of the window and door problems. However, the date set for repairs and reinstallation was missed by a month. We were told service and repairs would be made on 12/15 or 12/16/2018 and they occurred on 01/14/1019. We are pleased with the doors and the service personnel of 01/14/2019. They were friendly, efficient and thorough. They explained how all of the doors and windows work and rekeyed the replacement doors so one key would fit all doors.

    In conclusion, and not to tell you how to run your business, but so much of the heart burn and multiple trips and my additional cost for recoating could have been avoided by having an effective QA/QC procedure. I have known Milgard since the days of aluminum windows and sliders and was recognized for the most inexpensive products. The company has come a long way. You are Oregon's own company and that's important to me that you represent our state as a quality supplier. In fact as a past member and chair of the City of Portland Design Commission, I was part of the approval process that saw vinyl windows used in mid to high rise buildings in the Pearl District. I hope my critique is helpful and I am hopeful that we will have years of trouble free access to our home and studio.

    Disappointed that new installation is not a priority and we had to wait 2 months to have the french doors. Installation took place 11/19, claim made 11/20 no response to request for almost 30 days. Following my needed response with a promise of contact within 1 business day that never happened. 1 week later, I called and my information still had not been gathered to set service visit. Service call was today, 1/11/19. My doors are finally fixed and I am happy now. Service person was friendly and competent and made things right. I would recommend better customer service as this is the 2nd time we had an issue with no response to claim request. Both times we had to make calls just to get service. Love your products but cannot give you high stars as there is a lack of customer service.

    Casement windows with broken plastic inserts in locking mechanism. Awning window with disconnect of opening mechanism. I managed to fix myself after several days of thinking about it. Technician was great. He did not know why the service call I made had been so negative. Would have willing fixed awning window as a warranty item. Original call to service was disappointing. Essentially pressed to deny service saying not on warranty. I complained to local manager. This is second time they have come and fixed things. I have recommended Migard to friends based on those experiences.

    The Balancer broke on one of the windows and had 2 windows that had broke their seals. Contacted Milgard about the problem and they made appointment to repair the problem. All I had to do was get the information from the windows. They also replaced the balancer on 3 other windows, as was told if the one broke the others proably were due for the same problems in time. Very nice the company is looking ahead to future problems. That is customer service.

    The broken window casing was fixed at the seams so it would open/close and lock properly. 2nd time this had to be fixed. The backslider is very hard to open and close. I asked for this to be treated so it would slide more easily and the tech worked on it but no noticeable difference. Not happy with this slider at all. I have to use two hands and all my weight to open and close the door.

    A builder installed 39 Milgard windows in a brand new home in 2017. When customer service was contacted recently, a case # was generated to address an issue with one window on the 2nd floor. All information to identify the specific window was submitted. Since the case was generated, customer service was contacted regarding additional windows on the 2nd floor not operating properly. The rep requested info to identify these windows. I suggested that a sales or service rep come to the property to determine exactly what the problem is and how to resolve it.

    I was told that they're scheduling 4-6 weeks out, and then it would take another 4-6 weeks after that initial visit before the windows would be repaired! It's winter and the beginning of the rainy season! I have since reached out to the customer service manager, leaving multiple voicemail messages. I'm still waiting for a return call. I'm amazed that a reputable company like Milgard finds it acceptable to have such low standards when it comes to customer service.

    I ordered my Milgard Tuscany Series Vinyl windows in the first week of November 2018 and was given a delivery date of December 5th. The windows arrived on time but 4 of the 17 windows had the incorrect grid pattern. Also, the delivery guy came earlier than expected and decided to leave the windows in the mud and rain next to the house instead of inside - even though the house was wide open with no front door. Mistakes happen and even though this was going to push our schedule back (an expensive inconvenience when building a house) I was willing to forget it as long as they rushed the delivery of the correct windows I had already paid for.

    I ended up ordering 2 additional windows and it took them a little over three weeks to deliver. Five of the six windows in the second delivery had the wrong grid pattern again! I couldn't believe it. The dealer I purchased the windows through drew everything perfectly and Milgard had the correct grid pattern on the majority of the windows in the first order so I can't understand how they keep messing this up. It is the second week of January and I have no idea when I'm going to receive the correct windows I've ordered and paid for over two months ago. This is costing me a lot of money and time. If you would like this sort of window buying experience please buy Milgard.

    The window looks great, but leaked like a sieve in one corner during the last LA storm. The worst part of the customer experiences was having to wait 4 weeks to have the window inspected. Then only to discover they hadn’t booked it on their end - they misplaced my 1st request. Now I have to wait another 4 weeks. Just so you all know, the hub in Simi Valley handles all of Southern And mid California repair calls. Therefore, if Milgard doesn’t get the window right, expect to wait a long time for them to fix your problem. The tech who assembled my window obviously wasn’t paying attention to their work.

    I ordered two sliding glass doors this fall through Home Depot. Once I received them in October, one was not the door I ordered, it was missing the retractable screen. Home Depot required me to install the door in order to get the warranty. It took over two months before Milgard could take a look at the door. Even though the retractable screen is supposed to be built in at the factory, the Milgard representative worked hard to route out the door and install the screen. We won't really get a feel for it until next spring but it looks like he was successful. Thank you!

    I ordered 13 windows from Milgard and all of them arrived damaged. The windows were scratched, several locks were bad, and the windows were very dirty. The workmanship was also poor. The welding on the corners was really bad, they were very thick and protruded. I expected more from Milgard since everyone I spoke to recommended their windows. I’m guessing they were once very good, now they are terrible. Did manage to return the windows to the store I purchased them from. Now I don’t know if I should give them another chance to earn my business.

    We built a new home in 2011 and the builder (D.R. Horton) used Milgard windows. During the first year, we noticed many of our windows had gaps on the edges (between the window and its frame). The edges of the window appeared to sag, exposing the gap. We submitted a warranty claim and Milgard responded quickly. The service rep explained the problem and said it was a manufacturing error. He showed us the exact part and how it was misplaced. He spent three or more hours resetting most of our main level windows.

    He said others were not as bad but would need to be reset in the future. Submitted claim in July, 2018, because the other windows were developing large gaps. After repeated, monthly contacts, a Milgard service rep finally came at the end of November. Milgard now says the problem is not theirs, but due to "builder's grade" windows and incorrect installation. From the start we were disappointed in the quality of these windows, and now equally disappointed with their customer service.

    I called Sun City Glass of St. George, Utah in October 2018. They were the installers of the five, (72 W x 60 H) replacement sliders in my home in the summer of 2012. The windows operate and look great, and offer a darkening protection from the very strong sun's rays we get on that side of the house. A bird must have struck one window pane and created a tiny crack (small 1" circular crack in outer pane) which we didn't notice until we were doing a routine wash. Sun City Glass referred me to you (Milgard) to get the paperwork going.

    After about 6 weeks the replacement glass was sent to Sun City and they set up an appointment for the install. Their installer (Kevin) was in and out in less than an hour, did a very neat job, and the replacement was completed.     We built a new house in 2007 and installed all Milgard windows and patio doors. About 5 years ago the windows started spontaneously exploding. The 1st window to explode was in the garage. The inside pane on the slider shattered. We replaced it at our expense because Milgard told us their warranty did not cover breakage. Approximately one year later the 2nd window was the outside fixed pane on the same window. That was followed by the 3rd window an outside fixed pane on an upstairs window of the same size. The 4th window was an outside pane on a bedroom slider that exploded with a loud bang. My wife was sitting directly below when the window blew.

    All the windows are of similar small size and all were replaced at our expense. At about 1:40 am last night the 5th window shattered with a loud boom right above our heads where we were sleeping. Fortunately, it was an outside pane or the glass shards would have rained down on our heads. Milgard does not accept the fact that this is not a breakage problem but is a problem with a defective product. There is a manufacturing defect in these windows causing them to explode. We have several more windows of similar size and are just waiting for the next to explode. As an aside we live in the country, so it was not a stray baseball, golf ball or thrown rock that caused the breakage. Perhaps Milgard will blame meteorites as a probable cause for shirking responsibility for selling us defective windows. Milgard makes great claims about their products and customer service. DON’T BELIEVE THEM!

    When my slider was originally installed, the two caps on the bottom of the slider that adjusts the wheels were missing along with the door keep in the middle of the door. In addition there was a flaw in the glass. The guys that installed the slider and the guys that did the repairs were outstanding.     We purchased Quiet Line windows for our bedroom and recognized something was wrong due to loud popping and cracking noises coming from some of them. We notified the installer in February 2018 who inspected the windows and connected us with Milgard. A representative came out and attempted to fix the windows, which was not effective. The noise continued and Milgard came out again and showed me defects in the windows that he said he didn’t notice before. He is coming again to attempt another repair. In the meantime we’ve endured disruption of life as our bedroom is filled with the popping/cracking noises coming from these expensive windows.

    The gentleman that came to my home took the time to go through my house and identify all the Milgard windows I have. The window with the broken seal was not one of them. It was very helpful to find out this information. After he left I did a thorough search of building records and identified EPI windows.     The guys that do the work are great but the office seems to have trouble. I contacted Milgard in Aug and technician came out to measure. I didn’t hear anything so called and was told that they called and left a message and I never got back to them. While I was on the phone I was scrolling through my messages and saw something from Milgard and apologized and then they made me a new appointment for November. When I hung up I went back to read the email and it was the email from the very first time they came, so NO I did not get a email.

    The day before my appointment no one had called so I called the office to confirm and was told they be here at 9 am, not 2:00 pm like I was told. I had just finished getting dressed at 8:30 and here come the guys. I made the comment that they were early and they said no their timeframe was between 7:30 and 9 AM. Does the office just change the times randomly and not tell the homeowner? Guys that show up are great but you need to tighten up the office staff.

    We had a new Milgard aluminum slider door installed. The handle/strike plate design has changed recently.     We had all our windows replaced in our two story home with Milgard windows and doors because we had read about their quality and warranty. We spent over $7,000 on Milgard Windows including 2 door sliders and 2 octagon windows (20 windows in all) which was not cheap. A short time later we discovered one of the octagon windows had a 3" crack in it. I contacted Milgard right away (June 25, 2018). Two Milgard technicians came out (36 days later) on August 2, 2018 and scratching their heads said "we brought the WRONG replacement window". They had brought out a square window REALLY! A square window is not the same as a octagon window even a third grader knows that. I was told they needed to take a measurement and would be back with the new window but could not gave me a return date.

    On September 20, 2018 (49 more days) Milgard technicians again came out and told us "we don't have your window. We need to take out the broken one and make a cardboard template and then have them make a new window". Now my octagon window now has this ugly red tape all over it and it has been 89 days (going on 3 months) and still no replacement window and no clue from any Milgard person as to when we will get the replacement window fixed. There is a reason I paid more $$$ for Milgard windows but to my surprise they have not acted in a professional manner at all.

    The person we called today knew absolutely nothing and could not give us any information at all other than "possibly" October 25 for a new window which I refuse to believe. In hindsight, I would NOT recommend Milgard at all. We are extremely disappointed with their LACK OF FOLLOW UP SERVICE. I would strongly recommend to others to not go down this rabbit hole, there are better window and door options out there for the money. Milgard in our experience is totally unreliable and unprofessional. Avoid Milgard at all cost.

    Update: October 2018 - 2 Milgard service men came out today and tried to replace the window but told us “the factory measured it wrong. They did not follow our template so we can’t help you”. They could not tell us WHEN they would be back with the right window! Update: November 8 2018, Milgard was scheduled to come out today to replace the broken window. They just now called and canceled the appointment because, “the factory did not deliver the replacement window to us so we do not have it to replace”. These people are just horrible. Never again will I buy or recommend Milgard to ANYONE!!!

    Our experience with the service technicians that came to install was excellent. They worked hard, and completed the windows in a timely and efficient manner. They were polite and respectful, and offered to clean up after installing windows. The reason that we rate this less than 5-stars is the customer service in the office. We contacted the office the first time before July 4th weekend. It took until the end of October to get the windows installed. We had to measure all the windows in the house twice, because the customer service did not believe us the first time. Then they sent a technician out to verify measurements.

    Why even ask the customer to measure the windows if you are going to send a technician anyways? Even after the windows were measured by a technician, it took us having to call again several times to get an actual appointment and for the windows to get ordered. It felt like an effort to get us to stop calling and forget about the order to be honest. It was very disappointing to say the least. I hope that you read this and take the message to heart. We appreciate the windows and the warranty replacement policy, but really, make it easier on your customers.

    The first replacement for this work order was done on 8/31/18 by Rudy **. He was on time and did a good job. But he noticed the grids for the kitchen pane were not correct and had to be redone.     Milgard used to be a good company. It is no longer. In 2006 my wife and I bought a number of windows from Milgard. We were happy with the product and with the installation. The windows carried a lifetime warranty. In December of 2016 one of the windows failed. We called it in to the company on December 14, and it was successfully replaced on May 18, 2017. All contacts with their personnel were positive, and we had only waited until spring for the replacement because we live in wintry Utah.

    Later that year, however, the company’s behavior changed. In September a second window failed. I notified Milgard of its failure on September 18 and made arrangements for the replacement to be installed on October 31, 2017. The installer arrived as scheduled, but the window he brought had the wrong dimensions. I rescheduled with for April 27, 2018, again waiting until the Utah winter was well over. The installer arrived as scheduled, but again the window he brought had the wrong dimensions. Before he left he assured us that he had this time taken careful measurements, so the window brought a third time would be correct.

    I arranged the third appointment for July 18, 2018. Twice burned, I called the company about two weeks ahead of time to be sure the correct window would be ready and on hand. I was assured that all was in order. About thirty minutes before the installer was to arrive, however, Milgard called to say they could not find the window and had no idea where it was.

    Three failures. Surely a fourth would succeed. I arranged the fourth appointment for October 3, 2018. Again I called about two weeks ahead of time to be sure all was in order, and again I was assured that it was. The installer arrived as scheduled, but instead of coming with the right window to install, he said to me, “I’m here to measure for a new window installation.” I did not let him enter my house.

    Four appointments. Four failures. The last simply insulting. All demonstrating utter incompetence.     Half a year from acceptance of claim to actual replacement?? My claim for replacing a window where the seal had failed accepted JUNE. Tech comes out to measure, AUGUST. Installer comes out to install replacement, OCTOBER. Unfortunately his phone service would not allow me to return his call even after 7 tries. So he leaves before I can open the gate to let him in. Leaves message because he didn't hear back from me. He left and I'd have to reschedule. Called to Reschedule, earlier was NOVEMBER 30th. This is no exaggeration. Deserves a 1 star, but giving it 2 star only as I remain optimistic it will get replaced before I die of old age.

    I have rarely experienced such inept and horrible "customer service". It took me 4 months and numerous e-mails for Milgard to fix a broken lock on a sliding glass door. The part Milgard ordered was the wrong part and, luckily, the technician had the correct part in his truck. None of the e-mails from Milgard were signed so I asked with whom I was communicating. No response. This person should immediately be moved to another department where he/she has NO contact with customers! The service technician was superb! Professional, polite, experienced. I retired from selling real estate for 27 years, and recommended Milgard numerous times to my clients. Due to my recent experience with them, I would no longer recommend Milgard. This is not the company I have known for many years. So sad!!!

    Placed an order for window and door package August 22nd. We were told the lead time was 7 working days. After the order was placed we were told that they were mistaken and our order needed to come from Oregon and not Tacoma, so instead of the first week of September, it would be October 2nd. That day came and went with no delivery. After many calls and rescheduling installers, we finally got a partial delivery, but the slider frame came in a box with no glass for it. More calls and waiting around. Finally they found 1 of the glass panels but can't find the other one. No effort to find the other panel and get them delivered, so we can install before rain starts. We may have to go to the credit card company to cancel the charge. We're also not sure if we will have to have our own screens made on top of all this.

    I used Milgard on 2 homes before, but it's not the same company anymore apparently. We are now at almost 2 months past the original date we were told and nobody cares. We are now on our 3rd week past their revised delivery date, and they still don't care. They won't deliver, and they don't respond. It's a disappointment and hassle. I don't think I can recommend them to anyone again. We were really planning to get this done before winter set in.

    The glass replacement was fine. The sliding door works and was screwed back together. The doors still do not line up properly when closed. The bottom hits before the top hits. When opened, the reveal is way off when looking at the slider in comparison to the stationary door. It seems to me that the left side roller still needs to be adjusted up.

    For the life of me I can't figure out why any engineer would design a window that cost bloody hands to raise to acquire fresh air! There is a latch on the top of the sliding window and you press and hold the latch down to release it from the catching lip. Then you proceed to slide it up and there is another lip that you cannot see on the opposite side of the window from you. The trick is to pull the window toward you while pressing down on the latch while lifting the window up all at the same time. After about 50x tries you might get it to open. And lucky me I bought a house with these windows installed in every room. Suffice it to say that some rooms will never get fresh air because after opening 2 windows my arm muscles are beyond fatigued and I am a 270lb 6'2 very strong man. Stay away!!

    I cannot think of a more frustrating experience buying something in my entire life. Product showed up from Tacoma plant defective. Two French in swing doors with sidelights. The sidelights have asymmetrical gaps, one set of swinging doors didn’t open and close properly. Light showed through the gaps. Handles/hardware jiggle cheaply. One set of doors I had to lean into to close, worse than the ones I am replacing. Customer service takes forever and I don’t seem to speak to the same person twice. Making an appointment to schedule warranty repairs is a take it or leave it with regard to dates. I was practically threatened to take a time in the middle of the day in a week or forced to take an appointment months out. Repair technicians nice but customer service on phone is rude, defensive and doesn’t know the product on several occasions.

    I can’t tell you the level of frustration I experienced. You should do an episode of undercover boss to witness. Buying these doors cost me more than they are worth with the amount of missed days of work. Even after “Warranty” repairs were done both sets of French doors must be removed and replaced. The asymmetrical sidelights cannot be repaired in place. I am holding Milgard accountable for all the cost of installation and the product. I am considering taking legal action and/or contacting consumer protection agency. How can you push someone into warranty repair for a defectively manufactured product?

    I even tried to get them fixed before they were installed. I was told nothing could be done to repair until they are installed. Once installed it was insinuated that my installation was out of spec for problems that have nothing to do with 1/4 plumb. Some of the swinging doors weren’t even square which is a quality control issue from Tacoma plant. I am exhausted. Someone is supposed to call me Monday to talk. This has been a six month or more process since I bought the doors. Feel free to contact me.

    My Milgard windows were installed by my contractor in '93 so I don't have the paperwork on them. I am, however, the original owner. There are several problems with the windows. Some have failed and others have gaps between the frame and the glass. I originally tried to get an appointment with the local authorized dealer. After around 1 month of trying to get a hold of them (they didn't always answer the phone and would not return voicemails), they told me that I had to submit a ticket directly to Milgard. (In the past we could call an authorized dealer directly.) They also told me that they would not come out to my area anyway - even if I paid them.

    I submitted a ticket on Milgard's website on September 25. When I did not hear back from Milgard, I tried the 800 number. I called on Thursday, September 27 at around 11:20 a.m. and was transferred to the Sacramento office. The person who answered was not helpful at all. I explained that there were several problems with the windows but I did not have the original paperwork. The front windows go up two stories - over 20 feet. The windows aren't standard sizes - the highest one is a trapezoid.

    The person that I spoke with said that they would not send someone out to inspect the windows. They would only come out once with any product necessary to make the repairs or replacements. She said that I would have to do the measurements myself, tell them what was wrong with the windows, and supply the scaffolding! They would only come out if they knew everything about the windows. I was very upset that she expected me to climb over 20 feet in the air to take measurements. I thought it was very unreasonable that Milgard would rely on the homeowner to be able to take perfect measurements and also be able to diagnose the problems with the windows. Also, if they didn't like the scaffold (that I don't have) they wouldn't work on the windows.

    I was very upset and complained about the service. I also told her that I would never buy from Milgard again. Instead of trying to give me better service, she hung up on me! I called back but the receptionist put me through to voicemail. On September 28 at around 10:57 a.m. I called the Sacramento office directly. I told the receptionist that I wanted to speak with the supervisor of the customer service people. I was put through to the voicemail of Tsai ** (?). I left a message saying that I needed service and that the last person I spoke with hung up on me. I also submitted a new service request ticket as well as giving feedback on the website.

    I have heard nothing back at all from Milgard. Not a phone call or an email. Even if they need more information from me, they haven't contacted me to let me know. It's been very frustrating dealing with them. The house is in a more rural area that gets harder winters. We are worried about damage to the house. I think I may have to get a lawyer if I really want Milgard to stand by their warranty.

    In Colorado Springs, I used an independent contractor for 3 Northern Climate Milgard Tuscany windows. I completed the warranty information using the red Milgard labels affixed to the windows after installation. Milgard told me I do NOT have Northern Climate Milgard Tuscany windows as stated in the contract, the windows I have are NO ENERGY STAR ZONE Requirements Met. No Aragon gas. The independent contractor and Milgard Distributor (Liberty Sash Colorado Springs) are blaming each other, and the Milgard manufacturer in Denver is of no help.

The secondary door seems OK, but it is seldom used. The primary door started dragging again. The hinge was replaced that would not adjust. It started dragging again within a couple of hours.     I just got home and checked the door. The door has not been fixed. I first called on August 2. The technician came on August 14. The technician who look at the door said: 1) The latchbolt was not retracting far enough and that is why the door is either hard to open or will not open at all. He compared the latchbolt on the door on the other side of the room. The latchbolt retracts all the way into the door. This one does not. He said he was going to order a new handle and lock and install that when the part comes in. I looked at the door tonight and it is clear he never replaced the handle and lock. The latchbolt is still the same one which does not retract properly. I have sent two videos to Milgard. The first video is of the lock that is defective and does not retract properly. The second video is of the lock on the opposite Milgard door that does operate properly.

    2) The middle hinge had a stripped adjustment screw. He said he was going to replace that. He did not. It is the same hinge. We called in this problem on August 2. We have waited 2 months to fix an inoperable front door. It still is not fixed. It is frustrating that the items that were promised have not been done. There is no reason these parts cannot be flown in and fixed immediately. Please contact me. ** I look forward to hearing from you.

    The service person that came to my home today was excellent. He deserves above 5 stars. He explained to me that the continual problem we are having with our doors being out of alignment could be due to faulty hinges and they need to be replaced. Unfortunately, he did not have the hinges. He once again adjusted the doors so we can use them again. When they become inoperable again he said to request that the hinges be replaced.

    The customer service representative that answers the phone when I originally called for service was rude and hostile. When she asked for the numbers on the door and I tried to explain there was only a date on them she said “Work with me”. I said I was, and that Milgard has been out many times to service these same doors, there must be a record of it. She said “Hold on” and I honestly thought she had hung up on me. Eventually she came back and scheduled the appointment.

    Why after multiple visits for this very same problem are hinges being mentioned now? Why don’t the technicians have them available when they come for a service call?
