Refrigerator - The freezer of the refrigerator would randomly leak on the floor. When I had it repaired on 12/30/14, at a cost of $253.97, the repairman showed me the defective part. He confirmed the online reports that the leaking was caused by a defective part. The defective part had been used because it was cheaper. Now the repaired refrigerator works well. Last month, the control panel on the dishwasher stopped working. According to the online reviews, this is a frequent problem requiring that a new control board be installed.

Like many of the other complaints, control panel lights up but dishwasher will not start. It has had minimal use and is less than two years old. For a product purchased for around $800, it should have lasted far longer. Repairs will cost close to the cost of replacing entire unit. Do not buy Maytag. Their reputation is ruined in my eyes.

We purchased a high-end stainless steel interior/exterior unit in January '15. It is now July '15 and we have not been able to get any use out of it. Day 1 washer leaked. Full day off for service. Guy told us we were using the wrong soap. It leaked on the very next wash. Called again. They forgot to check the soap dispenser. Another service/day off. Leaked again! Another service call/day off. They replace the dispenser & seal. Now washer no longer leaks but the dishes are dirty and wet even days later. Another service call. Another new part. And now we are waiting for our 5th service call. We paid for a new unit and have a refurbished cobbled together piece of junk. Maytag stubbornly refuse to replace this unit.

In 2011 we purchased a complete appliance grouping at Home Depot by Maytag to include the dishwasher. For some reason we neglected to purchase an extended warranty on the dishwasher. Lo and behold in 2013 our control panel went bad and the cost to repair it was almost as much as purchasing a new dishwasher. Thinking this was a fluke we were dumb enough to purchase another Maytag from Home Depot due to the loyalty "made in the USA".

MDB77495852 - I purchased a brand new Maytag dishwasher 2 years ago from Sears. A year later it broke down with what was apparent moisture in the control panel. Thankfully it was covered under warranty. Well guess what... it broke down again a year later and now just missed a year. But not it matters, the retailer (Sears) said it was not covered so I'm supposed to pay about $300.00 to get it repaired. And figure I will have to do so next year also. I was told there is a Lemon Law for appliances but it does not kick in for 4 years. So after $900 in repairs I could get a replacement... REALLY? I think a recall is in order!

My fairly new Maytag dishwasher took a "break" and stopped working. No lights on the control panel although there was power to the appliance. First repair call, I needed a new computer board. Then when the part arrived and was replaced, no lights on the control panel! Fuse checked out ok and now waiting for a control panel replacement. Really??? Dependable Maytag? No way and never again to purchase from this company (Whirlpool).

1 1/2 years was all it lasted before control panel & key pad problems started so that the machine won't start. Maytag denies any universal similar problems and only will offer to send a serviceman out with a projected cost that equals 1/2 of the original cost. We will never buy another Maytag anything as they will not stand by their products. SO GOODBYE.

After speaking to a "Kim" today... I'm more than angry. The control panel on my dishwasher is broken. Had repair come out and they told me a few months past warranty. "Kim" tells me the only thing still under warranty are the racks?! I'm extremely angry at the poor service we are receiving but pleased as we have cancelled the washer and dryer (Maytag). If you're thinking of going Maytag or Whirlpool, cancel! Not worth the headaches or cost.

My Maytag dishwasher Model No. MDB7759AWS1 caught on fire last night, inside the control panel on the top of the door. This was very alarming as it filled the house with smoke and caused some fire damage on the bottom of the countertop also. This could have easily caused a house fire and is very disturbing. When I called Maytag, they say this model is not recalled. In my opinion it needs to be. This is a huge accident waiting to happen in other peoples' homes. Please beware. If the countertop would have caught on fire entirely, the house would have gone up in flames.

We bought a new home with all new Maytag appliances. Our Maytag dishwasher has had 3 new handles, 1 inside tub and now needs a new touch panel. Our Maytag oven/stove has needed three ignitors and the oven door has never been right! The microwave is the only appliance that we have not had a service call. Appliances are expensive along with parts and labor for service calls. I will not be purchasing any more Maytag appliances. The standard comment by repairman: "They don't make them like they used to." How sad is that!!

We bought this dishwasher on 7/8/2013 which is my wife's birthday and boy was that a mistake in many ways! I had 5 service calls on my Maytag Dishwasher MDB7749SBM1 before it went out of warranty. It has issues with the ribbon cable and controller and the control lights are like a disco on the keypad. Now it gets so hot I can't touch the door when it's running. So I have had to turn off the power and go get a new dishwasher next weekend which WILL NOT be a Maytag!

We bought MDB7759AWB Maytag dishwasher in 2011. It worked decently until now when it stopped delivering water to the upper rack. The cleaning quality on the lower rack also dropped significantly although it might be due to the lack of water delivery to the upper rack. Apparently there is something wrong with the internal pump. The Maytag service offered a repair for $300+ which I rejected because this is a ridiculous cost and I would rather buy a different dishwasher. My conclusion is that if you buy Maytag dishwasher you need to factor about $300+ for the repair(s) in 5 years as apparently they do when they sell you this product. Anyway, even though Maytag was a decent brand a long time ago (probably in the past century), it is not reliable anymore. It does not mean it has to be much worse than many others but if you are looking for something better than those others I would not recommend Maytag.

We purchased a $500.00 Maytag dishwasher, Model #MDB7749SBW, in August 2013. In December 2014, a little over a year of owning it, the pump failed. We called Maytag and they had a service company come out and replace it. We paid $181.00 for this service call. In July 2015, the control panel failed so we called Maytag to see if they would replace it at their cost. All they are willing to do is to send another service guy out at our expense. The service call is $89.95 and that doesn't include the labor! The total with tax will be close to $200.00 again!!!

My dishwasher, purchased in 2013 sings the same tune as many of these complaints...stopped working correctly, turned on whenever it wanted to, etc. Thought it was the cpu...no. Called Whirlpool and they gave me the same runaround that they give everyone...more money for a temporary fix. Did some more research that led me here and discovered that the ribbon cable leading to the control panel was fried due to heat and moisture. Easy to check for yourself... looks like brown crap on the cable...if you have a meter, you can easily check it. Tried to repair it, very difficult, but I tried. NEWS?...I wrote a complaint to the Better Business B... and mentioned that this is a safety issue, which it is.

Like many people here, I have a Maytag Dishwasher Model # MDB7749SBW3 Serial # F40107007. We have had this dishwasher for about 12 months to 18 months. The first indication that there was a problem was some of the lights were acting strange. Then the dishwasher starting going nuts. I removed power from the unit thinking that maybe the controller became confused. The problem persisted. I would hit buttons and either nothing would happen or something completely different would happen.

I bought a Maytag MDB8959SBS2 December 2013 with several major appliances for our new home while they were all deeply discounted and bundled with cabinets etc from Lowe's. Moved in June 2014. Said dishwasher crapped out last month (May 2015). Buttons all fouled up, push "normal" and 6 other lights come on. Tried different resets, reboots, power down all no good. I ordered parts to repair, control board, control box, no luck. No warranty because purchase date was December 2013. This thing didn't last 11 months of use, and it's just my wife and I running maybe 2 loads per week. I will certainly do more research and buy a foreign make/model or at least one not made by Maytag or affiliated brand. Unfortunately this supposed Made in the USA sticker sure doesn't stand for quality with this company.

13 months after purchasing MDB7749SBM3 dishwasher this lights started making no sense. For me the buttons still work, but it seems like only a matter of time until they stop working too. Like many others, I opened up the door and found the corroded ribbon connector (see photo). It wasn't damp so since the corrosion happened at the point where a ridge of plastic presses the ribbon against the hot handle, I suspect heat. Obviously a design flaw. Come on Maytag. Recall?

Do NOT purchase a Maytag dishwasher. What happened to the Maytag repairman being so lonely. Now he has lots of company in the way of angry consumers. Purchased a Maytag dishwasher and less than a year later the control panel failed. It was still under warranty but the service person just tweaked it instead of replacing it. Now, less than a year later it has failed and will cost over $200 to replace and repair. This is disgusting.

I own a Maytag dishwasher model number MDB7749cBM 2. The panel on the dishwasher stopped working. It is only a year old. It's too new to break down. Will contact Maytag today. There are so many complaints. Why not a recall?

In July 2001 my husband and I purchased a 6-year old home. We are still here. We have replaced the refrigerator, oven and microwave - all in stainless steel. I am still waiting for the Maytag dishwasher to wear out. It has never been repaired because it has never broken down. Cleans dishes and silverware great.

My Maytag dishwasher model MDB7749SBM2 was two months out of one year warranty and the Whirlpool control panel went out. We replaced it for 80.00. 3 months later same issue. We had that replaced for free. 4 months later same issue. We had to fight but got that replaced for free. Now 2 months later same problem. It cleaned wonderful when it worked. I will never buy another Maytag or Whirlpool. I used to buy nothing but Maytag. We threw it out tonight. Tired of a dishwasher that is only part time.

Just passed warranty period and Maytag dishwasher broke. It would not start. Called and was allowed to purchase extended warranty for $135.00. A new panel was shipped and dishwasher lasted just under one more year with same issue. Another extended warranty was offered for $199.00. Needless to say we are buying a new dishwasher and not a Maytag or Whirlpool. The panels are notorious for rusting out. Hmmm moisture of a dishwasher and parts easily corrode.

Not long after dishwasher MDB7609AWB2 was out of warranty the START switch on the keyboard would not work. Called dealer and they sent someone out to check for a charge not quite $100. Could not fix it so said it needed a new control panel which with labor was almost $200. Doesn't work so get it fixed. Now less than 3 years later the same thing has happened - won't start. Lousy engineering and part probably made in China to save Maytag money, I feel is the cause. This is happening over and over to those of us who purchased in good faith what used to be a reliable product from a reliable company.

I purchased Maytag dishwasher Model #MDB7749SBW in November of 2013. The front touch panel no longer works. Everytime I push the selection for wash it automatically jumps to Cancel. This dishwasher is less than 2 years old. I didn't purchase the extended warranty simply because I thought I was purchasing a very reliable product. "Lonely Maytag Repairman" of old. Ha Ha. I am very disappointed and am telling friends about this and all of the reviews I've read that are similar complaints. I would never purchase a Maytag product again.

Two in a row make it just over a year then the control panel goes out. You call a Maytag repairman and they say the control panel is bad! #1 it should last more than a year and a half. #2 a part shouldn't cost you as much as the darn dishwasher! Do not recommend nor would I ever buy another Maytag.

I am also frustrated with Maytag for the same exact problem... The control panel and the dishwasher not working just after our year warranty went out. I purchased this product because we had a good experience with a Maytag Dishwasher lasting about 20 years, only to get fooled that the quality is not there any longer. This seems like BAD business on Maytag, Whirlpool, and Home Depot! How can we get an official complaint to someone who can fix this? Another example of big businesses that do not care to take care of customers! Why would a company like Home Depot continue to support this business!!

I have the same complaint as everyone else. I have had my dishwasher since April 2013. Less than 9 months after having it the control panel went out and they came and replaced it. Now June 2015, 2 years and 2 months after purchasing and a year and a half after the control panel was replaced, none of the buttons work except the cancel button. How is it that these machines, as expensive as they are, crap out after 2 years! Such a waste on money!! Maytag has lost my business forever!!

The serial number is MDB8979SBWD. Just a few months before warranty expired the buttons were being flaky. Eventually it would not start. We brought it to the dealer because they wanted $150 to come to the house. They replaced the front panel. It lasted less than a year and stopped working again. Being out of warranty and being a technician I took off the panel and saw that there was no insulation in so the humidity would build up. The wires in the ribbon wire were corroded. I looked up the price of the panel and it was $150. The dealer wanted $150. I did not want to replace it because of the possibility that was not the only problem. We paid $400 for it on sale, (a mistake I know better than to buy stuff on close outs.) FYI to get the dealer to deal with it it would cost $300! From reading these complaints this panel seems to be a real problem with this and Maytag is not supporting this LEMON. I see a lawsuit here. Too bad Maytag is only out for profit.

We purchased a Maytag Jet Clean Plus in August of 2013. Within 8 months the control panel stopped working. Though it was replaced by one of their technicians it now after 9 months is broke again. How can this be such a crappy product??? Over 800 dollars for a dishwasher to have to go out twice in less than 2 yrs is just wrong. The company needs to stand behind their products!!! I will never buy Maytag again and will advise anyone looking to not waste their money!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

DISHWASHER MDB7749AWM - We purchased this dishwasher from Home Depot on 10/15/2011 for $630.00 for my birthday and yesterday the start button stopped working (cycle lights still work). We went online to look for more troubleshooting options and we found lots of complaints about faulty control panels. Sounds like that's what we have. VERY disappointed in Maytag for not correcting known issue. My dishwasher is only 3.5 years old and there are only 2 adults in our home. We run the dishwasher 1 to 2 times per week meaning this Maytag dishwasher will only last for about 200 wash cycles. Shame on you Maytag!

mod-mdb6769pabo 2yrs old. Beeper and lights weren't nuts finally quit working. Nothing. I really thought I was buying the best out there. Was I wrong. Anyway after reading the guy from texas helped me. In the control panel the flat wire bungs was all corroded from steam. Wired brushed them and on the round one's used a torch tip cleaner on them. Then used silicon after plugging back in. Reset worked great. I don't know how long. We will see. Anyway further investigating there is a exhaust on the front panel that joins to the back in between the two. There is a rubber gasket. It was put in mine very poorly so steam was entering inside the control panel. Very poor workmanship. I hope this fix will take care of it for a good 10+ yrs for what I paid for it. I hope this helped somebody out. As for Maytag I will see how long this will last.

Model mdb7749sbm. Unit is just over 1 year old and fails in the same way everybody else in complaining about. Here is my question, this failure mode is obviously a designed in feature providing planned obsolescence to the device. Why is this company not being held to account for the damages in this case? Are all the judges that bought that no suit can be brought?

I can't believe the electrical touch panel died again. Maytag replaced it once within the first 6 months of owning it. I think it's been less than a year since Maytag replaced the panel. Once again, if you push Normal Wash something else will light up. Now, nothing will light up. When I see how many other people are reporting the same thing I can't believe Maytag is not doing something. Maytag are you listening? My husband wanted to buy a Samsung, the salesman was pushing Bosch and I stayed loyal to Maytag. Why? I'll call Maytag Customer Service and hope for the best.

We purchased a MDB8949SAW dishwasher in 2013. 1 month after the warranty expired the touch buttons went on it. If you selected normal it would opt for something else like rinse only. We researched online and my husband followed instruction online to take the door off and seal the moisture to prevent this from happening. This worked for about 2 months and now back to the same thing. We paid $500 for this and just living with the problem for now. All we can do is warn others.

This dishwasher's start button stopped working after 1 1/2 years. We did not buy the Extended service warranty. So we are responsible for the service call and the replacement of the control panel. Ridiculous. I called Maytag to file a complaint and they never returned my call. I will NEVER buy Maytag again. There are enough problems posted to know better. This company should be ashamed!!!

I bought a Maytag dishwasher (MDB7749SBM) and 1 yr and 4 months the control panel went out and all Maytag would do is tell me that they will pay for the parts, and I have to pay for the labor. I remember when Maytag had the best Warranty on their appliances. I am very disappointing with paying for labor. They also offer an extended plan of $269.00 for a year. What a joke!!!

I had noticed the lights, such as for sanitizing cycle, hot water cycle, etc, would go out intermittently, but since the washer still ran, I was down with that. Loaded it up last Sunday, pressed the button to start and El Zippo. Nothing works. So here we go again with another crap product from Maytag. Yes, I have had this dishwasher, which was a pricier model but closeout priced, at Lowe's in 2008, BUT I live alone, so how many dishes do I wash. At the same time this is the third time had a repairman out (with no help from Maytag other than trying to sell me an extended warranty for nearly $400) and these machines ought to last a lot longer than this. The part online is bad enough, $150, can't wait for the repairman to call me back tomorrow and see how much they are going to hose me for.

Purchased a Maytag - MDB7749AWM1 dishwasher in 2011 from Home Depot. The door seal has failed several times and been replaced by a serviceman. The warranty has since run out but the seal continues to fall out every time you run the dishwasher and open the door. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I have considered gluing the seal in place but can't find a glue that will handle the temperature. I'm sure that Maytag will say they have never seen this problem before. Maytag is off my purchase list forever!!!

Our Maytag dishwasher was purchased new in December 2013. Less than a year later, the control panel needed to be completely replaced. While this first repair was under warranty, the next Complete control panel replacement was not. 8 months later, the same problem and this time the expense of over $300 is out of pocket! The company had no comment and was of no help at all with my customer complaint call. I wish I listened to the warning reviews and never bought a Maytag. Do not buy!

Control Panel MDB8949SBB - I purchased my dishwasher in August of 2013. The control panel has stopped working and Maytag refuses to discuss the issue with us. Regardless of how many complaints they receive they are in denial about their product. They now offer a Repair +1 program which costs $260 for a repair and an additional 1 year warranty. If I do that I will get 1 year out of it before I run into the same problems. Any ideas?

This is beyond one of the most disappointing purchases I have ever made! It has been about 15 months since purchasing this dishwasher, and as of today it is not working! Blinking start button. I see from the hundreds of disappointed customer comments that I am not alone. With this many people complaining of the same issue, that Maytag should have a recall... I paid about $550. I get that quality does not supersede the almighty dollar, but come on!

We purchased a Maytag Jetclean Plus Dishwasher in June 2013. It worked well enough initially. We bought it because it had a large capacity and built in disposal. By August 2014, just after the warranty expired, the front panel gave out. To have someone even look at it cost $150. By following instructions from internet discussion groups by other people facing similar issues, we were able to get it to "run" in random mode. Programs were no longer indicated or selectable but dishes generally still got cleaned. Two months later a wheel fell off the "premium rack glides".

There should be something that we can do. My EXPENSIVE stainless steel Maytag MDB7749SBM was purchased in August on 2013. The old dishwasher was working fine, a Kenmore. I just redid my kitchen and wanted SS appliances. The control panel is shot. Can't get it to even turn on. Sometimes the lights come on for no reason. What a piece of junk. At the same time I bought a Maytag washer and a Maytag dryer. Also junk. The washer does not clean the clothes, the dryer does not dry the clothes. Other than that, they're okay. I'll never, ever, ever buy another Maytag unless they do something about recalling this junk that they now sell. What happened to Maytag? Retired, so can't really afford to keep fixing this junk.

Control panel stopped working 2 years after we purchased the machine. There are only 2 of us in the household. No way should it have broken. We only use it approx. once a week. I can honestly say I will never buy a Maytag product again. No wonder people are switching to LG!

We just had the same problem as most of you have posted. The control panel malfunction. Model MDB7749SBM. Our issue started after only 18 months when the dishwasher would start on its own and/or cancel a wash on its own. I think this is a major issue if a home appliance can start on its own from the off position and run through multiple cycles. I think this could be dangerous if you are out of town. Our cost to replace the panel was more than 1/2 of the original purchase price. This is a major defect and should be handled by Maytag if they are a company with any integrity.

We have had this dishwasher [Model MDB7749SBW2] for about 1 1/2 years now, and gave had a lot of trouble with it. It will run a cycle on its own without anyone even touching a button. My current problem is the start button won't work. I reset the dishwasher by pushing the series of buttons I found online to do a reset, and the start light lit up, but after the reset cycle was finished I tried to run a wash cycle and couldn't get the start button to do anything. I've seen a lot of reviews online on this being common with Maytag brand dishwashers this old. I will NEVER buy a Maytag product again nor would I recommend it to anyone as a good product. I am very frustrated and disappointed in Maytag!!!

I bought a Maytag dishwasher from Home Depot in February 2012, $700. After a few months, the buttons stopped working and the machine was unresponsive. I called Home Depot and they fixed it under the warranty. This continued to happen every 2-3 months. After a year of dealing with this, the warranty expired and I had to purchase the manufacturer extended warranty with Maytag, $240 for 5-years of coverage. The problem continued, and every few months, the thing would stop working and I would have to call for service - 2 to 4 weeks without a dishwasher waiting for service appointment then parts and another appointment for the repair.

My wife & I purchased our Maytag dishwasher model # MDBH979SAB1 on 3/8/13 from homedepot.com. Approximately 24.5 months later our dishwasher experienced control panel light button malfunctions similar in description to the many other consumer complaints on this & other forums. I would like to share some additional information based on my research about this issue and possible fix. The source of Whirlpools control panel issue is design related. The issue is caused from moisture which induces oxidation on the Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) cable that is integrated with the control panel and connects via connector to the electronic control box. The issue usually manifests itself on the cable just where it bends coming out of the touch membrane panel.

Maytag Dishwasher, mdb7749sam1 - I got this dishwasher new in Feb. 2013 for my new house. I thought that Maytag was supposed to be a very good appliance company. (I just found out that Whirlpool bought them! I don't like their dishwashers, either! I've had 3 whirlpools that only lasted about 2-4 years each.) My dishwasher worked great until the control panel buttons started blinking and going crazy! Then, it just stopped working altogether. I called Maytag about this part, and found out that it is only covered the first year, and the so-called 10-year warranty doesn't cover it. What good is the extended 10-year warranty if it doesn't cover all the parts!? I researched this dishwasher before I bought it. It got fairly good reviews at the time. Now when I look it up, it gets these terrible reviews! I am so disappointed with this situation. I have other Maytag appliances that have performed great. I'm not sure why their dishwashers can't be made the same way.

First dishwasher was overheating fried control panel, turns out there was a recall. Got another Maytag at a discount. Thanks for nothing, little over a year, it's fried too. Will never own another Maytag product again.

I bought a Maytag model MDB8959SBW0 in beginning of 2013. I think it was February. It looks like the control panel went out because only a few light come on and sometimes when you walk by it it will beep and lights come on by themselves. It looks like all the other reviews are from around the same time that I bought mine. Looks like Maytag had a bad year. I'm very frustrated with this. I don't have the money to have it fixed and I don't have the money to try and fix it myself. I wish Maytag would admit they made crap and pay to have them fixed. If I have to get another one or get anything I will stay away from Maytag.

My dishwasher is less than 2 years old. Dishwasher will go on when we are not in the house. Can't control the panel. The control panel lights all come, have to cancel to stop the machine. This could be a fire hazard.

Add me to the ridiculously long list of unhappy consumers who have a defective control panel. 16 months after purchasing the machine, my control panel went out. It would cost me 30% of the original cost to replace the part. As with the other consumers, Maytag has lost my business and I will do my best to blow up any social media site to make sure that others know the appliances and the customer service from Maytag are a very poor choice and should be avoided at all cost! Oh and BTW, "Our system is down" and has been for three hours.

MCBH979SAB0 - I am also frustrated with Maytag for the same exact problem... the control panel and the dishwasher not working just after our year warranty went out. I purchased this product because of a recall on my former Maytag dishwasher. I was told I should purchase this new model to replace it, only to get fooled again. This seems like BAD business on Maytag! How can we get an official complaint to someone who can fix this? Why would a company like Home Depot continue to support this business!!

I've owned the stainless steel version of the Maytag dishwasher model MDB7749SBM purchased on Sept 6th 2013. July of 2014, my first control panel went out. Lights not responding. Was within the 1 year warranty period. Now, that panel is acting up again. I called Platinum Factory service and they wanted to charge me for a new panel and the labor. Well, I used a few choice words on how I felt and the customer service person said the part would be free. Well, nothings free as I scheduled a visit by the Platinum Factory Service. They of course call 5 times to make sure you are home. The day of the service, the tech calls me to see if I'm home. I of course said I am... then, he goes to tell me the labor charge for him to come out and hourly rate will come to $189!!! I said screw it and don't bother. Maytag's quality and engineering SUCK. Avoid them...

We got our Maytag dishwasher in 2011. We've experienced a lot of the same problems other people have mentioned. Control Panel was the first thing to go out. Now it has a foul odor coming from it and it doesn't get the dishes clean. The heating coil has stopped working and is rusting. This dishwasher is junk and I'm very disappointed. I will never buy Maytag again nor any company related to them.

Maytag may have pay to replace defective controls. 1-866-931-7384 is the number to call. I have owned my maytag dishwasher for about 18 months. It's control panel was never great, but now my dishwasher won't work at all. Apparently, the tiny inside the control panel rust away because they aren't sealed.

DB7749SAM1 Maytag Stainless Steel Dishwasher worked great for 14 months then lights went crazy. My last machine was 30 years old before its motor died. I should have fixed it. Maytag needs to step up and fix this. I will make sure everyone knows from here on out, social media is a wonderful thing. I have not even used it that much - still looks brand new and this is unbelievable. I have seen so many bad reviews now on how Maytag has built poorly designed appliances and then to add insult to injury they will not fix their mistakes.

Maytag MDBH979SAM1 w/ Steam - I purchased this dishwasher Jan 2014 as a scratch or dent at the Sears Outlet. The dishwasher worked great until 4-5-2015. About 3 months after the warranty ran out I called Sears and asked if there was any extended warranty coverage since I used the Sears card. They said No, but recommended I call MasterCard since my card had the MC emblem. MC says that they do extend the warranty up to 12 months. I just filed a claim and hopefully will get a paid for repair. So, if you used a credit card, you may have a warranty extension like me. Check it out. 2 stars because the dishwater is a great unit except for the control board. What a shame Maytag.

We spent $600 on a Maytag Jet Steam Plus dishwasher and it's junk. We bought it in May of 2013 and the top panel is burnt out and the ribbon or control wires is corroded. Maytag won't pay for replacement parts and I wouldn't recommend anyone buy Maytag again. I thought it was supposedly a good brand but it's nothing but garbage.

Purchased Maytag dishwasher 09/13, electrical panel now broken. Home Depot recommended this model to us, and it is garbage. Called Maytag, and they required $100 just to come and look at it, let alone fix it. So many people have this issue, what's wrong with you, Maytag? You make a defective product and owe your consumers a real explanation.

Wish I would have read the many, many, many reviews on the Maytag MDB8959SBS dishwasher before buying it. As noted by others, the touch control buttons stopped working 1 month after the 1 year warranty expired and Maytag won't do anything about it. BE WARY OF THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY CLAIM - IT DOESN'T COVER THIS PROBLEM. Maytag should issue a recall on this product and do the right thing - take care of customers like they used to.

Add me to the long list of disgruntled buyers of a Maytag Dishwasher. Just like the other 488 people that similarly filed an unsatisfactory rating on this site I too am now on that list. And no surprise - the control panel ceased to function 13 months after I purchased the unit and one month after the manufacturer's warranty expired. After brief inspection the problem was obviously a design error leading to premature wear of the electric ribbon in the handle. Phoned Maytag and they advised me it was the first they'd heard of this problem with the model.

Like so many others, I now discover, we are having a ridiculously frustrating problem with our Maytag dishwasher, bought one and a half years ago. Last week, the control panel stopped working -- we press "normal" and a whole bunch of other lights come on; try to press other cleaning options and entirely different ones light up again. Sometimes we can get it, with luck, to quick wash or super clean and thus have our dishes cleaned (which the machine never did that effectively anyway); sometimes we can't. I haven't called the company yet, but given what I've read, I'm unsure if it would do any good. Judging from all the similar comments, Maytag is clearly selling a radically inferior product and care nothing much about this. We will surely never, ever buy another one of their products.

After 15 months of use the Maytag Dishwasher MDB8959SBS2 the control panel start malfunction. I read very carefully about the Home Depot Customer reports before purchasing this built in stainless steel dishwasher, and supposed to be one of the top notch on the market, around $850 retail price. It becomes a big disappointment. After three months of use, the top rack handle broken but it still under manufacture warranty, so we get it fixed by Maytag contractor. Then 15 months after regular use for a family of five, the control panel start malfunction, few bottoms will not start anymore. We are out of luck with one year manufacture warranty and working towards our VISA card extended warranty to try to get it fixed.

14 year old Maytag dishwasher keeps on. When I purchased this dishwasher it was because ALL of my pans would fit, even my turkey roaster and my oversized dutch oven! The only repair for this appliance in all of these years up to this year has been the seal, and that was just last year. I broke the hinge this year. It has always cleaned my dishes wonderfully. Great job Maytag. :) Same with my washer and drier that are 29 years old!!!! Just DON'T ask me about my refrigerator or stove. See that in another review.

Within 2 months of 1 year warranty running out, the control panel went wacky - does all kinds of weird things except work right. Called to see if there is any suggestions or work arounds and was told they would be glad to set up a service call for between $70 and $100, where they could tell me how much it would cost to fix. As with the other 100s of folks with the same problem, they basically said "gee, you should have bought an extended warranty." If you have this many people with the same problem then it is Maytag's problem, not the poor sucker consumer who got stuck with it. If you are considering this dishwasher, run, don't walk, as far from a Maytag or Westinghouse product as you can get. If anyone starts a class action suit against this product, please count us in!

Purchased what was supposed to be a good dishwasher. In less than 3 years the control panel went out. It would cost more to replace the panel than to buy a new dishwasher. I will never buy another Maytag product.

We bought a new Whirlpool dishwasher, and it was a nightmare. So after four years of that we tried their sister company Maytag's dishwasher. I have to say that I think these two old American brands have been ruined. This Maytag dishwasher is always making my dishes smell like rotten fish or a dead animal. I have to dump bleach and or vinegar down in the bottom constantly to keep the stink down. And I have looked and there is no food laying in the grinder. Then we started to lose wash cycles, and the buttons (not real buttons but a cheapo control panel) started to malfunction after 2 years. Now, 3 years into it the plastic adjusters in the top rack are broken, control panel has gone totally haywire, and still smells terrible. I remember when American appliances were sturdy and reliable because they were designed by engineers. Now they must be designed by accountants and shareholders. Goodbye Maytag and Whirlpool.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher just 15 months ago. Worked fine for the first 12 months. Then literally, a few short weeks after the warranty expired, the buttons on the control panel started acting up. The normal button, when pushed, would light up the delay hours. The light cycle would make the rinse only come to life. It was beyond frustrating. My husband would unplug it to reset it and that worked for two weeks but now, nothing. It won't work at all. I'm FURIOUS, considering we spent $450 on this thing and now its useless. I had a Kitchen-Aid that I loved but due to cost, decided to get this hunk of junk. I learned my lesson..Maytag, you should be ashamed you make such horrible products.

We purchased this brand new Maytag dishwasher (Model MDB7749) from Home Depot July 30, 2013. Now a little more than 18 months after purchase the control panel is out. Some lights blink, several go on at the same time. Tried resetting by removing then reinserting power plug (that worked once before, a couple of months ago,) but nothing works. Pretty much the same defect and problem I am seeing with other folks with these Maytag dishwashers. I saw online that a Sears outlet was selling these same model Maytag units for 48% off...Well, now I know why.

I have several rental properties and every Maytag dishwasher I have installed in the past three years does not work. It is crazy that a national class action lawsuit has not been filed. There would have to be a large sum of money in fees for the firm that takes the case on. I am not usually for class action lawsuits but this is a known problem that Maytag refuses to acknowledge.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher with a control panel in September of 2013. In August of 2014, the control panel died and did not allow me to run the washer. In March of 2015, the piece which was replaced died. When contacting Maytag, even when they did the repair the first time, said they were unable to cover the cost because it was now out of warranty. I've seen several class action lawsuits around the product with Maytag. Do not buy a Maytag. It used to be a quality brand, but is now terrible.

We purchased a Maytag dishwasher model number mdb7749sbm in April 2013. March of 2015 the controls stopped working completely. We looked online and instantly found it was a problem among many others, and said it was a result of corroded ribbon cable. We opened the panel and, sure enough, inside the ribbon cable the electrical wires were completely rusted through!

We bought a Maytag dishwasher in August, 2014, and already the touchpad is malfunctioning and we can't start the dishwasher! I am very disgruntled and frustrated by this! I should have kept the old Kitchen Aid dishwasher that we bought in 1995! At least it never malfunctioned!

Do not buy this dishwasher unless you get the extended warranty. We purchased this dishwasher in Jan 2014. The first one delivered was completely busted up (which was probably the delivery company's fault for not handling it correctly). Then we had to wait for the replacement one to come in to get installed. In Sept 2014 the control panel stopped working. It was repaired under the warranty but it took several weeks for the authorized repair shop to be able to come out, diagnose, order part, and then come back to fix it. Now March 2015 (5 months later) we had the same exact problem with the control panel. The repair company was unwilling to order the part to bring with them even though they already had it in their records what we needed due to the previous repair. It was going to $300 to repair it since they only warranty the repair for 90 days. We decided to replace our 14-month old dishwasher rather than put any more money into it.

I purchased a complete Maytag set for my kitchen (fridge, double oven, microwave, dishwasher) from Home Depot on November 22nd 2012. About two months ago I noticed the dishwasher started to glitch here and there, but was still functional. I removed the panel and found that the wiring was completely corroded and would need to be replaced. I put everything back together and have managed to make it almost a month on the same cable. In the mean time, I searched for my receipts, my manuals, and anything else to show my purchase given the 10 YEAR WARRANTY Maytag wants to mention as a sale point. Aside from Home Depot not being able to find my order information to duplicate the receipt, I managed to find where I had ordered my set online and was emailed a copy.

Purchased my Maytag Dishwasher MDB7749SBM on 5/13. 3 weeks ago the panel went out! I found others have had the same complaint on their Maytag Dishwashers too! I also learned this model was discontinued from Home Depot. Is this because Maytag knows this Dishwasher was JUNK and that they allowed consumers to buy this model knowing it had these problems - I believe so! Model MDB7749AWM2. Paid over $700.00. Figure I would get a good dishwasher so it would last and clean dishes. I was wrong. I replaced all new appliances for kitchen in house we had purchase 3 years ago. I replaced door switch 4 times, front door panel where screws go in broke off. Salesman at Lowe’s said Maytag was a good dishwasher. It is a stainless front and stainless inside. I have had cheaper models and never had problems with.

Purchased model MDB7749SBM from Pacific Sales, 8/2/13. Used in a unit with one person. After a year and five months it was found to be leaking water. We called service. They said it was beyond repair and could not be fixed. Total cost of machine, delivery and installation was over $700. Now I have a worthless piece of junk. Maytag used to be a high quality product. Now they make junk. Never buy another Maytag.

Purchased a Maytag dishwasher in 2009 then had it repaired for a leak in 2010 (just past the 12-month warranty); next another leak in Nov 2013 so purchased another Maytag as repair appliance company said it wasn't worth fixing. I purchased a Maytag dishwasher in 2013 and the control panel needed replaced within the warranty period. About a year later, the control panel started to malfunction again, this time out of warranty and I'm told it will cost over $350 to repair. I paid a lot for this dishwasher and thought I would get years of use out of it. I plan on buying a new cheaper one (not Maytag) for a little more that the cost to repair the Maytag. I'm very disappointed and will not purchase another Maytag. I also read online that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.

Dishes did not get clean. Bowls would stand up when you placed them in the dishwasher, then fall over when the door closed and came out dirty. The rims of glasses were not clean. I had several 3 service calls and changed dishwasher soap several times per their suggestions. I contacted Maytag and was told that the only warranty was for mechanical problems and since the problem was not mechanical there was no warranty. I then went through the Better Business Bureau. The ultimate decision from Whirlpool was "It has been determined there are no defects with the dishwasher and the issue is use and care. Mrs. **'s request for a refund is respectfully denied." I have purchased a new dishwasher which does clean the dishes and the Maytag is sitting in my garage gathering dust.

My Maytag dishwasher is not working after 1 years & 60 months. I called Sears, where I got it. Then, Maytag company. It looks like I need to spend $167 for an electronic controller (the push buttons will not turn on) if I do myself (I doubt if I can go it, but I can try). If not, how much will I pay a tech for coming (I was told $59) plus the labor if I let him fix it. So I'm looking at a total of approx $400 plus to fix a 1 1/2 yr old Maytag dishwasher. I purchased a Maytag dishwasher delivered in dec 2012. We are snowbird Canadians and the dishwasher is only used 5 months per year. Jan 2015 the control panel quit working and the repairman tells me the wires on the control panel have started to melt down. He called Maytag and was told they had extended the warranty on this machine for one more year. Missed it by 2 months. Considering this was only really used one year, I am very disappointed. How can an extended warranty on a safety issue only be for one year? This is my first Maytag product and will be my last. I only purchased it because I was told Whirlpool bought them out and I have never had a problem with Whirlpool.

After 18 months of use Our Maytag Dishwasher (MDB7749) has the same control panel problem as a lot of other user complaints. I wish I too had read the consumer reviews before my purchase. We will never buy another Whirlpool product!!

Maytag Jetclean Plus - This thing is less than 2 years old and the control panel is out! From the sounds of the rest of the reviews, I don't expect to get much help on this. I guess a new panel costs $250.00! Ridiculous!

We bought a new Maytag dishwasher MDB7609 as part of the 2010 recall. Within the first twelve months the black skirt at the bottom of the door collapsed to the floor. It was in small pieces and brittle as though exposed to excess heat. The repairman fixed it free but made the point it was not covered under warranty. Next the heated dry cycle baked the water onto the dishes forming a white crusty layer. We have a water softener that works very well. We stopped using heated dry because it is too hot. Last night before bed, I was standing in the kitchen and I smelled something burning. My wife had mistakenly programmed heated dry into the cycle. Obviously this dishwasher is as much a fire hazard as the one it replaced but no recall has been issued yet.

I think so much about Maytag dishwasher with electronic controls that I decided to fix up my Maytag mdb3700awx by replacing the motor. It has an old fashion timer. It was trouble free for 10 years until the water supply line fail and sprayed water on the motor and shorted it out. I got a use motor and pump from eBay for 40 dollars. The dishwasher should last 20 more years. Too bad Maytag don't make them like they use to.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher in Sept. 2013. This dishwasher looks great, but it leaves glasses stained with a cloudy haze. It also does NOT dry, even on jet steam dry mode. Bottom line, after a little research, I was the one who bought it, so I took accountability and just rolled with it. Well, the control panel stopped working this week (won't light up). I called maytag and the lady told me they would cover a service call and parts even though it's not under warranty. When the service company called me, they said maytag will NOT cover cost, totally contradicting what the Maytag lady told me. After reading these other posts, I wish I would have visited this site before I bought this headache of a machine. I will never buy Maytag again!

We purchased a Maytag dishwasher & installed Aug 15 2012. After installation the control panel wasn't working & Lowe's replaced the dishwasher with the same model. After the years warranty was up I started having trouble with the second dishwasher panel. I limped along with it for months until I could not get it to work at all. A repairman came and said that the touchpad & board was damaged. He said it wasn't hooked up properly. After an estimate of over three hundred dollars we decided to rid ourselves of it and purchased another, cheaper brand. Was out 79 dollars for the repair estimate & over 500.00 for the Maytag dishwasher. Plus a new one installed for 700.00. Had the use of this appliance less than two years.

MDB7609AWS2 - Same as a lot of the other people on this site. I have replaced control panel several times and the soap dispenser. It has rarely worked since I got it.. I saw in another report that there is a Class Action lawsuit in California. Does anyone know about one that can help all of us SUCKERS WHO BOUGHT A DEFECTIVE MAYTAG???????? I can not even afford the warranty service. It has went up so much like approx. 300 or more. I guess they were tired of sending out the repairman also.

We purchased our Maytag dishwasher from Nebraska Furniture Mart in February 2013. The touch panel on our Maytag dishwasher quit working in December 2014, several lights would come on or flash or not work at all. The first repairman that we had come out took the panel apart, cleaned it up and put it back together ($100). It started working again but a few days later it started doing the same thing again. So I called the repairman back and he said the touch panel would need to be replaced. He called all over Omaha and no one had the part in stock. He called the Chicago Maytag warehouse and was told by them that they were out of them because there were so many defective dishwashers that they used them all. Now they are trying to find a new manufacturer to make them. It could be months before they get them in.

We purchased the Maytag MDB8959SAS0 dishwasher about 2.5 years ago. A couple of days ago, the lights on the control panel started blinking and beeping erratically. I contacted Maytag and they said the control board likely needs to be replaced to the tune of around $250, not including labor! We spent $800 on this dishwasher and it can't even last 3 years?? Ridiculous. The only other advice the service rep. had was that "we should have bought the extended warranty". Gee, thanks. I guess with Maytag, you really DO need that extended warranty because their products are junk. I think I will just scrap this dishwasher and go with a Bosch. We also have a Maytag range that needed servicing after owning it for only 18 mos. And a Maytag dryer that needed servicing after a month (at least that was under warranty). I will NEVER buy a Maytag product again... they are complete junk.

We bought what was supposed to be the top of the line Maytag dishwasher as part of a kitchen remodel in 2011. Well tonight it has quit working for the 3rd time! I think this is the last straw for us! Tired of spending all this money having it fixed. We also bought a Maytag microwave at the same time that has been nothing but trouble from day 1, but not as bad as the dishwasher. I can promise you we will never buy another Maytag product ever. Heck at this point, I would not accept a free Maytag machine of any kind! Stay away from Maytag!! Just to be more specific, the first time the dishwasher quit it was the board and cost us half as much as the dishwasher. I see lots of mentions of boards going out early.

So we purchased a whole package in sept 2014 for our newly constructed home. In Nov we received the CO and that's when everything was finally professionally installed. After its first wash the dishwasher broke and there was a flood in the house and soaked 20% of the newly installed high quality cabinets. We cleaned up everything and called Maytag to have someone inspect it to see what needs to be fixed. The gentleman came about a week or two later and said that the machine isn't worth fixing and to try to get Maytag to replace the whole machine, but he still listed all the parts that were needed to fix it.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher because they are supposed to be known to be a good brand. But my dishwasher is 3 years old and it started rusting around a steam vent on the outside of the door! This issue has been ongoing but as I've been busy, I haven't had the time to address the problem with Maytag since it's out of warranty anyway. But I feel like this should not be a warranty issue to begin with, it should be a recall issue. I had a plumber look at this, and he said that it was caused because the vent was not properly sealed during manufacturing. Now it looks as though mold spores are growing inside the steam vent! Maytag will not stand behind their product, so why should I invest anymore money into it?! I would rather purchase another dishwasher (OTHER THAN THIS BRAND) than dump another penny into this garbage dishwasher!

Model MDB7749AWB2 Dishwasher - we purchased this dishwasher 3 years ago on 12/23/2011 and it appears to be falling apart. We have replaced two thermo fuses, one door latch/switch and now need the front control panel and handle because two mounting locations for the six screws have broken off. I truly expected a much longer product life than three years when I purchased a Maytag. So much plastic in crucial high stress areas must have slipped by the engineering folks. Or was it just cost cuts. I believe it will be a long time before I consider a Maytag product again based on this one. Thank you.

Two and a half years ago I bought a Maytag dishwasher thinking it was time to upgrade from my Ge. After a year and a half the control panel went out in in it! So For a little over a $100 I replaced it. Now, a year later, the panel has gone out again!!!! What is this? Every year I have to spend over a $100 to repair this thing!! I think it is time to find a new dishwasher!

This is a horrible product. Do not buy one. In fact, do not buy any appliance made by Maytag. I purchased a Maytag Jetclean Plus Series MDB8959AWS brand new on 2/22/12 and had it installed. The machine stopped working not even three years later. The control panel does not light up at all. There are pages and pages of complaints on the Internet about this dishwasher and Maytag. There is a class action lawsuit against Maytag in California for faulty control panels. Maytag needs to be taken to court to be held financially accountable for making false claims and selling defective products. I will never, ever again buy any product made by Maytag.

I put a lot of thought into my new dishwasher and decided to go with what I thought was one of the best. At just over the 1 year mark the rinse aid stopped dispensing product. Now after another 6 months the controls are not working. Being a widow living alone on a limited budget, I am not putting hundreds of dollars into getting this piece of junk repaired. No more Maytag for me.

Maytag Model # MDB8959SBB I bought it at Home Depot on April 24th, 2014. I had to have the control panel replaced after 4 months. Now 4 months after that it is leaking on to my new wood floor. Slow little drip leak and yes my floor is now warped! That is why I bought a new dishwasher so I did not have issues like this. So only owned it 8 months and 2 major issues. The repair person called me and said there are known issues with this model and they need to order the part for the repair. Lovely! I asked the repair person who was sort of impatient with me if there are any other KNOWN ISSUES as we might as well have them addressed NOW before it catches on fire or something. What the hell... if there are known issues what are they waiting for??? Whirlpool and Maytag has lost me as a customer forever!!!

One year and 1 month after purchasing dishwasher, the lights on the control panel would move around and if I close the door all the way it will begin to wash. I have not contacted distributor about repairs. After reading all the reviews, I think I will just use it until it quits. Will never buy another Maytag.

Didn't get the CO until 3 mo. ago and already having same problem with the keyboard flashing and not working properly. The plastic top rack adjusters broke, and although the unit advertises a 10-year warranty including the racks, the rack adjusters are not covered. Bad design, bad service, fraudulent warranty. Maytag/Whirlpool this is criminal behavior! Will never buy from you again!

Model # MD87749SAMO: Second failure of the control panel. This is such a common theme in almost every review on Maytag dishwashers no matter where the review is published. I purchased the machine in December of 2012. In the first week the controls stopped working. When the repair man took the panel apart the entire control panel electrical strip was dangling inside the door because it had not been installed properly at the factory. After it was reinstalled, the machine worked quite well for the next year and a half and then the panel failed again. Currently, it only rinses the dishes. So, to keep it limping along until I receive the new control panel electrical strip I will just twice-rinse the dishes with detergent. It does clean the dishes but it certainly is not a very good solution to the problem. What I will probably do is buy two control panel wiring strips and keep one as a spare and install it myself the next time it fails. This isn't an elegant solution nor does it get Maytag to address the issue. But it does allow me some control over scheduling repairs. I will also find out if there is a reason why the strips have such a high failure rate, such as condensation/moisture corrosion in the door cavity, and see if I can remedy it myself.

Maytag MBD7749SB - We purchased this dishwasher for close to $800 at Home Depot. After close to 1 year we had to replace control panel. After another 5 months we have to replace control panel again, but product warranty is only 1 year. Now we have to either buy new warranty for ~$250 or replace control panel for same amount. Customer service: terrible. We will not buy product from Maytag again.

I have always hated soft touch control panels so I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher with old style push buttons. IT DID NOT CLEAN THE DISHES, so Lowe's took it back and I was convinced to UPGRADE to an MDB7749SBB0 and was told this machine was top of the line, although it was VERY temperamental from the start. I guess I should have done my homework. I see now several complaints about the control panels not working. I was told that MAYTAG was a very reputable company and that they stand behind their product. WRONG!. The company KNOWS these panels have problems and should replace them free of charge as it is obviously a defect. Nope, first they offer to send someone out (In a week) to repair it at $80 just to look at it and the panel is over $100 to replace, and when I complained they tried to sell me extra coverage for $250. REALLY? What is the purpose of purchasing a "QUALITY" dishwasher? I might as well purchase a cheap dishwasher and replace it when it breaks. I think you should be responsible for your product when you have several complaints on a specific part.

I always purchased Maytag products but no more. After 16 months of ownership of the MDB7749SAM1. For the last three weeks I have been washing my dishes by hand. This unit has so many defects that it should be recalled. Sick of buying parts!!!

I am sorry I purchased this machine. It was meant to replace a 17-year-old Maytag dishwasher that was not repairable. I figured they were good machines. Wrong. Perhaps I have a lemon, I do not know. I bought the machine on the 23rd of November and it was installed on the 29th of November. Here it is December 12th and I am sick to my stomach. I have already had to contact Maytag customer support and have a repairman coming. This machine does not clean worth a damn! My glasses look worse coming out of the machine than when they went in. I have run two loads with the machine so far. The auto-sense cycle is a joke. It took over four hours to complete and things did not come out clean. Last night I tried the normal cycle. It came up with a run time of 2:36. The first "rinse" was cold water. The detergent cup was open and empty at 20 minutes in.

I only use it a couple of times a week. Now on 4th repair for front panel. I purchased an extra warranty plan and I'm covered to 2016. However, I am not happy and had two panels replaced this year. Twice it has broken down at Christmas time and it takes 3 weeks or so to get a part from US to Canada.

I purchase the Maytag dishwasher Model: MDB7749SBM from Home Depot in Plano Tx around June of 2013. The start/resume and cancel/drain button lights either flash or won't turn off and keeps trying to restart the wash cycle. I have only had this DW for 1 1/2 years. That’s pathetic! I went through the manual and tried everything it recommended but it didn't work. So far the unit still cleans dishes. Based on all the reviews I have seen on these Maytag dishwashers with the same issue, you would think there would be a recall. All the appliances in my home are Maytags and Whirlpools. Maytag and Whirlpool are now the same company. Depending on how they handle this issue will determine which appliances I buy in the future.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher in June 2011. Loved it .... until the buttons on top to start the cycles started to malfunction. By this I mean blinking lights and skipping certain cycles. On Jan. 2014 I had to replace an electronic board at the price of $200.00 on top of the $900.00 purchase. This part has gone bad after less than a year!!! I called an 800 number which put me on hold for forty five minutes and hung up on once. I wish people stood behind their products like they used to.

Same issue as everyone else. After about 15 months the control panel on my Maytag dishwasher model#MDBH979SAM1 has malfunctioned. First it would only let me choose the rinse option but now all the lights are turning on and the dishwasher will not stop washing but yet the dishes are still dirty. I called Maytag and they quoted me 249.00 to fix the issue. But if it's a common problem with this make and model why do I have to pay to replace the panel. They should recall this model or replace the panel with an updated one that won't have the same issues! I can't imagine paying 249.99 every year to replace this panel that seems to malfunction no matter what you do!!! I paid around 550.00 at the home Depot for this dishwasher! It did not even last me two years!!! I want a lawsuit filed against this company and I want my money back or my dishwasher replaced with one that works and won't have the same issues!!!

Bought the dishwasher (model MDB8969SDM0) at Lowe's Burlington Canada beginning of September. After two months of use, the plastic pins and attachment to the drum, top rack broke and cracked in several places. Called Whirlpool Canada for repairs many times and got the run around, spent hours on the phone and still not resolved as of December 12, 2014. This model has a problem with the plastic and breaks continuously as seen by many reviews on the internet. The technician said that this is a problem with this newest model. I have now been waiting for over two weeks for the parts with no end in sight since they claim that the parts are back ordered. Called again today and was told that it would be another week to see if they can find the pieces. This is ridiculous, I paid over $ l,000 dollars for this model and it looks like now that I will not have it repaired by Christmas. Lowes refuses to help me because they have washed their hands since it broke after one month.

The dishwasher is only one and a half years old and like many others are having trouble with the control panel. The model is MDB89495AWO which cost nearly $800. The dishwasher does not shutdown after an operating cycle. On contacting Maytag with the symptoms they advised that they have never heard of a similar problem. On reading the comments/experience of other Maytag owners I am undecided whether to "scrap" this unit and buy another make!

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher on Oct. 12, 2013. The control panel failed in July 2013 and had to be replaced. I was unable to program a wash cycle and the lights would move all around the front. After the first failure, I was told that the control panel would only be covered for 3 months - the original purchase date for the washer, NOT the date of the NEW control panel. I was then talked into an extended service plan. Now, four months later, the control panel has failed again and I am unable to program a normal wash. A repair man is not scheduled to come for another 9 days. As a single homeowner, this product is not used even on a daily basis. I will never purchase another Maytag washer. They do not back their product with appropriate repairs.

I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher in April of 2011 - I've had four control panels in that time and the panel gone again - in fact, one panel came out of the box nonfunctional (I counted that one as it was installed although the tech removed it when it quickly became apparently that it wasn't working). I've got a complaint in to Maytag but I have low expectations as to a satisfactory conclusion. What I'd like is for Maytag to buy this lemon back from me for around $400 - I paid nearly $600 (including installation). Again, I doubt this will happen. From my research online it appears that the control panel issue is a latent defect which Maytag knows about but either won't or can't figure out how to deal with it or correct it. I have a scan of the receipt which I'll see if I can upload later. I know about one class action lawsuit for CA residents. I wonder if it's been expanded.

Model MDB7749SBM1, Complete FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and GARBAGE. Let me explain. Maytag clearly claims this dishwasher is stainless steel on the inside and out... FALSE, BOGUS CLAIM. Please check for yourself, tried a magnet to it everywhere and the magnet stuck everywhere. I have had this dishwasher for 15 months. The keypad frequently stuck. When I called Maytag, they told me if it's usable, there is no defect. 15 months after purchase and 3 months after WARRANTY ran OUT on Thanksgiving Day with 25 guest. The keypad finally quit for good. I called the Friday afterward and was told no service for a week. I called and received local service but they told me it would need a keypad, which I waited to call on Monday since Maytag is closed on weekends how ironic. I was told they won't cover anything since a certified person didn't come out even though nothing was ever fixed and they blatantly lied to the consumer. Tried to sell me an extended service plan. I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER MAYTAG PRODUCT AS LONG AS I LIVE AND WHEN I'M IN LOWE'S OR HOME DEPOT, I WILL TELL EVERYONE IN THERE SHOPPING THE SAME THING, DON'T BUY MAYTAG IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU.

We bought the Maytag new several months after the warranty expired. The start/resume button stopped working. Maytag paid for the part. After speaking with several people, I had to pay labor.... 6 months later guess what happened, that's right, start/resume button does not work. WOW MAYTAG maybe you should spend less money on your commercials and more money on your products! I will never buy a Maytag product again nor will anyone I come in contact with let it be known! Very bad product!

Dishwasher worked fine for the first 12.5 months, and lo and behold 1 month after the warranty expired, I had my first repair, a new motor. A few months later, I had my second problem, the thermostat. A few months later, I called Maytag because I thought that the control panel was probably shot (based on my previous Maytag for which I replaced the control panel 4 times, before Maytag finally agreed to get me a new dishwasher). At that point they sold me an extended warranty which for 300 they would make this repair, and any other repairs for the next year. They have been out 7, yes 7 times, in 4 months. They would probably be out more often, but since it has been difficult to get a repair person out here, more time than not I'm washing dishes by hand.

As with everyone else here I have had my second control panel go here. In the five years I have owned it the first was covered by an extended warranty that I had purchased when I bought it, the tough part is I was forced to buy another Maytag at a higher price because of a recall for dishwashers catching on fire. I found out about this by 'accident'.

This is the third control panel failure since I got the machine a little over a year ago. The last issue, whereas the lock on the panel would not unlock, occurred in July. One month before the warranty was up. They replaced the control panel. Now, 4 months later, the same thing has happened. Now, they want me to pay almost $400.00 for a new panel. The repairman came when I wasn't home and my friend paid him $119.71 for a service call. I never authorized that payment, nor was I told I would have to pay for them to tell me what was wrong. I KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG. I thought he was coming to fix it.

I purchased this Maytag Dishwasher Model MDB8949SBM on November 23, 2013 and installed dishwasher in late January after new cabinets/countertops were installed. After four months the control board failed. I live out in the country and Maytag does not pay for a repairman to make a special trip for repairs, so we had to wait 2 weeks when the repairman was in the area. We purchased this dishwasher on reviews which seemed pretty good, but never bothered to check on complaints of Maytag dishwashers.

In March 2014 I purchased all my kitchen appliances from Home Depot. Everything was Whirlpool except the dishwasher, a Maytag. The floor in my kitchen is wood, and I noticed that the finish was coming up in the area around the dishwasher. I called an accredited service company and the technician said the appliance was not level and proceeded to do that. Next, tech #2 - dishwasher not level, fixed it - different company. Tech #3 - dishwasher not level, fixed it, said perhaps I did not load the appliance properly and water splashed out! Dishwasher continued to leak, floor continued to warp. Came back as #4 and decided it was the control in door. Ordered new one, installed it - dishwasher leaked. Called Maytag at that point. They refuse to accept that it is defective merchandise, will not replace it on my word. They need a tech to certify that it is unfixable. Tune in tomorrow. This will be #5. My best advise at this time is Do Not Buy a Maytag appliance. They will not stand behind their products! Home Depot order # below.. Appliance model #MDB8959SBS.

We purchased a Maytag dishwasher MDB7609AWS2 in October of 2010. It first stopped working about 2 years ago. Since it was only 2 years old, we were disgusted and decided to let it sit and do dishes by hand. About 2 months after it had stopped, we tried it on a fluke and it worked. It stayed working for about 2 years. It finally stopped again, so we did the same thing, just let it sit. Every once in a while we try it to see if it works. It just recently started working again. We are wondering, what is up with this. We are not sure why or how the sitting works, and it is ridiculous that you have to have an appliance that you can't use periodically. We were too stubborn to have it fixed or buy a new one at this level of newness. We will get by in this manner for at least another few years, so as not to have lost all of our investment in a dishwasher, but we have sworn off Maytag appliances forever.

We are in the process of replacing the 2nd control board in the past 2 years (have has this dishwasher for 3 yrs) on our Maytag dishwasher model MD87749AWW1. The lights on the panel completely quit working mid cycle. At $175 per replacement, we are into repairs for half of what we paid for the dishwasher. Bought Maytag because it is "made in the USA" but found out that a majority of the parts are imported from China? Very disappointing.

Mine is the same sad story as all the others. Bought our Maytag dishwasher in 2013 (model MDB7749) and 15 months later, the control panel went out. We have contacted Maytag and they basically told us it could be our fault it doesn't work, so they won't fix it. Now we have learned that this is an issue that A LOT of people are having. We called their special number for this problem and were told they still wouldn't fix it since we called BEFORE having it repaired. So my question is, how is this legal and why aren't they recalling this product? I know that there was a class action lawsuit against Maytag for this problem. Why don't we hold them accountable as well? This is bad business and we shouldn't allow them to take advantage of hard working people like this.

The dishwasher doesn't clean and the dishes and silverware come out greasy. What a piece of crap.

Maytag Dishwasher MDB77495 - We bought this dishwasher September of 2013. April 2013 when you pressed the option I wanted the options auto clean, rinse only, steam sanitize and delay hours. The thing would work when pressing start but I have no idea what it is doing. The repair man replaced the board and all was good for a couple of months then it happened again. The board was replaced again and in two more months it failed again. The repair man told me that moisture was getting to the board and there was corrosion on the ribbon mentioned in another review here. He contacted Maytag both times and gave them my contact information but they never called me + they told him that they have never heard of this happening with this machine. We had a Maytag machine 8 years ago where the board actually melted but like an idiot decided to try them again. I will never buy a Maytag again.

This dishwasher was here when we bought our home. It has been heating up way too much on the drying cycle. I turn it off and air dry the dishes but today I noticed it melted my plastic measuring cup. I had the heat turned off and opened it as soon as it started the drying cycle.

We paid over $800 (more with installation) for this "quality dishwasher". Within one year we began to experience problems with this unit. The top control panel easily becomes water logged causing the device to fail.

Approx. 3 year old Maytag Dishwasher Control Panel lights blinking with Dishwasher inoperable. Repair part (new Control Panel) costs approx. $180 plus tax. When you add the cost of a service repairman you are nearly at the price of a new dishwasher. I am completely unhappy with this Maytag Product and will never buy another Maytag Product again.

My husband and I bought a Maytag dishwasher, Stove and Fridge. We were very reluctant because at our prior home we had Maytag appliances and they kept going out. Against our better judgement when we moved into our new home we decided to go with Maytag once again. First the dishwasher front panel stopped working. We had it replaced and it cost over 250.00 with replacement part and labor. Not a week later went by when our Fridge went out, that cost us another 300.00 plus to fix. Keep in mind we had only had these appliances for about 14 months. Less than a year of replacing the dishwasher panel it has gone out again. This is very frustrating and expensive. I don't usually write comments, but felt the public needed to know that Maytag has poorly made appliances. I recommend you spend the extra couple of hundred bucks and buy the better brands and warranties. Thank you.

Control panel on front of dishwasher quit. Unit is 15 months old. Bought extended warranty through Home Depot. Took two hours on the phone to finally get to the correct department, they set an appt. for the following Wednesday between 10-2. Had to take a vacation day. Get a call from the appliance repair co. the night before stating they cant live by Depot's schedule, they wont be out til the following Monday between 9-1. Schedule a vacation day. They come out then have to order parts, they wont be in for 7-10 business days. After 12 business days, I call back and they set appt. between 10-2. Schedule vacation day. They come out and the control panel the warranty company sent is the wrong one. Now I have to start the whole process over again. DON'T BUY MAYTAG AND DON'T BUY WARRANTY OR APPLIANCE THROUGH HOME DEPOT.

I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher (MDB7749) in 2012 and one day before my 1 year warranty was up, my start button on the control panel wouldn't work. I called P.C. Richard and they sent a repairman who fixed it. This was in June of 2013. Here I am now hand washing again 1 year and 4 months after the repair. I called P.C. Richard again and was told that all brands have their weak points and because I got it on sale in the first place, I should not feel angry.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher, when I bought my house (7/2010). I live alone and I use my dishwasher only once a week or once every two weeks. After 3 years of working perfect, it stopped working. I had someone come look at it. After troubleshooting with the basic steps, making sure the water was correctly hooked up, a fuse was not the problem. The dishwasher door was shut completely. He took the racks and all movable parts, & thought something, a piece of glass, etc, was stuck in the drain. Nope.

Maytag dishwasher mdb7749awm2 - It appears that everybody who bought one of these dishwashers has run into this issue at one time or another, and it usually takes one full year of use before the control panel goes out on these units, and in most cases, it has to do with moisture getting on the thin strip of wires leading from the control board to the control panel. It usually occurs right where the strip enters the control panel... There is nice little gap for moisture to rest right on the wires, which will eventually lead to corrosion. I included an image of what to look for (see the nice black rust areas on the wires? That was my problem, and probably yours, too). If you have some very, very fine sandpaper, and have patience, then you can get the rust off the wire, but be very, very careful, or you could take the small thin wire off in the process!

Bought Maytag dishwasher 2007 at Lowe's. Model mdbtt60aww-37837606ll manufactured in Benton harbor, Michigan. First got a recall that something was faulty, could cause fire, needed replacement. Took 2/3 weeks to get repaired. So couldn't use. Never quite cleaned good - many times had to rewash silverware, glasses. Never took off food unless very well rinsed. Today the control panel went. Called a local repair he said, "Don't even fix. Toss and get a new one because it's too costly to repair". I asked what should I get. He said no GE, they are getting out of appliances, no Samsung. He's got whirlpool so guess I'll give that a try. In the past I've had dishwashers 20 years, appliances 20 years. This junk lasts a year or two. Plastic cracks. None of these appliances are great anymore. Doesn't matter who you buy. Someone needs to get some quality control on what these companies are peddling .

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher model number MDB7749SBM in May of 2013. In August the dishwasher control panel stuck on Rinse only cycle. It has been stuck on this cycle for a month. I contacted Maytag and they walked me through a reset. It has not worked. It looks to me as if the control panel has failed. This seems to be a common problem with the Maytag dishwashers. As soon as the warranty expires, so does the dishwasher. I purchased this dishwasher from Home Depot for over $600 thinking I was buying a quality product. My previous dishwasher was also a Maytag, even a lower end one that lasted almost 14 years! This one has not even lasted 14 months!!

There was a maytag dishwasher in the house we bought 11 yrs ago. The only problem we have had is a recall on the rinse aid dispenser which was replaced by a service man but never worked again. We are completely satisfied with the operation of the unit, our only disappointment is the wire racks. The original racks plastic coating broke at the end nubs and became rusty and swollen. We found someone selling a unit and we just took the racks and left the unit for him to resell rackless. Unfortunately not two yrs later the same thing has happened to those racks. Even tried these little plastic covers that are made specifically for this problem. They were virtually impossible to get on and didn’t last more than a few months.

We have had our Maytag dishwasher MDB9100AWQ only 5 years and now it keeps shutting off. I see there is plenty of this complaint. I will not purchase another Maytag product after reading all these reviews and experiencing it.

MDBH979SAM0 - Same old. Buttons not working. Control panel out. Repair cost total to be the same as the cost of the dishwasher. It's been over a year since we have extended warranty. Purchased from Home Depot. I am filing a complaint with the Consumer fraud unit of Washington State to get a State Action pursued on this.

MDB7609AWB1 - I purchased this dishwasher about 14 months ago. Power on button will not light up. It seems this is a big problem with 100% of the Maytags and I'm sure the Whirlpools. These cheap companies are having their products made in China to make bigger profits. The years of keeping your appliances for 10-15 is gone. Spend $650 and it doesn't even last 2 years before it breaks is totally ridiculous. Of course they won't fix it but they DO know about the problem. If enough people complain maybe consumers affairs will make them recall them. Send them letters, emails, flood their inbox, tell them you're pissed and will never buy a Maytag again. I hope they go out of business.

Purchased this unit in 2011. 1.5 years it broke. Front control panel stopped working. I did purchase the extended warranty and they did fix it. Well 1 year later it is broken again. Now after they fixed it once and I was told by the repairman "this is the only thing I fix on these." I again must go through the same thing. I have had problems with every one of my appliances from Maytag, bought them all together. I would not recommend buying anything from them in the future.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher less than 2 years ago through Home Depot and did not purchase the extended warranty. The start button has stopped working and is not lighting up. I was referred by Pacific Sales, the appliance sales company at Home Depot, directly to Maytag to schedule repairs which I am willing to pay for. After a nearly hour long call between hold times and conversations I was told the service would be scheduled for Thursday or Friday of this week. As we were scheduling the appointment, I was told the computer for scheduling had gone down and to call the next day to schedule.
