I purchased Maytag dishwasher model mdb4651aww serial #10307358gr 10/05 paid $549.39. The control board/touch panel had to be replaced 10/07, 7/09, 8/09, 7/10, and 10/10. I requested a replacement machine because the same part keeps failing. I believe there must be a problem with the way the control pad is sealed because it keeps shorting out. Maytag says that they wouldn't count the total number of times the part had to be replaced because the first service contract was for three years and then I extended it for another three years and they count the incidents separately.

Ditto the complaints on dishes coming out dirty, gritty and filmy. Very frustrating. Kerry of NJ describes our problem best. Is there a health hazard in any or all of these situations? The mold problem sounds particularly troubling. I say we go to every consumer/distributor website and rate the KitchenAid dishwasher with these very unfavorable ratings. Maybe even do a video for YouTube. Let's put pressure on the distributors as well. We bought ours from Sears 4 years ago so they should have known about these problems. I'm going to post comments at Sears in hopes that others don't get ripped off. There has to be a way to get KitchenAid to do right by the consumer. A few years ago, Maytag had a problem with front loading washing machines resulting in a class action lawsuit.

I was notified by Maytag of the dishwasher recall due to fire hazard. I submitted required information; rebate forms were to arrive within 7-10 days. I contacted Maytag Rebate Department 7 times during the 39-day period informing them that the rebate form had not arrived. During each contact, I was informed the forms were in the mail. On 1 October (day 39), a complaint was sent to CEO of Whirlpool (Jeff M. Fettig) informing him of situation. Day 44 Rebate Department called to tell me the form was in the mail. On 12 October (day 50), a letter sent to Whirlpool (Jeff M. Fettig) stating my complaint would be sent to Consumer Affairs, BBB, FTC, and Michigan AG.

My Maytag dishwasher is a fire hazard. My Maytag dishwasher model MDBH968AWB started sparking from the top of the dishwasher. It has the number NY2212286 on the side. Luckily, my wife and I were only feet away from it and were able to turn off the power when we saw the smoke coming out of it. Otherwise, we would of had major fire damage to our kitchen and possibly our house.

I found out that Maytag currently has over 1.7 million dishwashers on recall right now. I was told that this model is not one of them. I could not believe it. They do not want to help me. I told Maytag that I am requesting a new dishwasher. They want to send a repairman to fix this one. I have no faith in this product. Heck, it almost caused a major fire in my home. They currently are refusing to give me a $250 rebate for a defective product. I need some help. I have been dealing with this problem since August 30, 2010.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher model no. MDB9601AWS in February 2007, and I had four major repairs on it within the first two years. The dishwasher has now stopped working for a fifth time, and Maytag is not willing to take any action to replace or repair the dishwasher. I waited on the phone for more than an hour on 8/30, and the agent told me that I could pay $129 to have the repair company diagnose the problem. When the repairman came out today, he told me that the panel needed to be replaced before he could even begin to figure out why the dishes are still dirty.

He told me that the part needed to be ordered through Maytag, and that if I called them, they would have the part number and order the part for me. Today, after waiting half an hour for customer service, I was told that I need to get the part number to Maytag myself. They were only willing to offer half of the cost of the part and would not consider replacing the dishwasher or paying for the cost of the repair. I was told that Maytag cannot help me in any other way, and that only if the machine is deemed irreparable by a Maytag repairman, will they consider any replacement. While the agent was polite, he ended the call when I asked about making a complaint against Maytag.

I received a recall letter about a heater. Per the letter, I shut the dishwasher off at the breaker. The heater was replaced today, but now the dishwasher will not start. The technician said the control panel had gone bad and nothing they did on the recall could have caused it. I called Maytag and they offered a 25% discount on parts. My position is it was working fine, they did the recall and now it does not work. I paid $500.00 for a dish washer less than 2 years ago and the technician says the key pads go bad because of humidity. One would expect that a panel for a dishwasher would take into account humidity as we all know when you open the door, hot humid air comes out. I am 71, on SS, and cannot afford to pay for repairs that magically appear after a recall is fixed.

I am not pleased that there was a recall on a my dish washer on June 3 and I only now got the letter dated August 19. I'm also not pleased that a defective machine that I paid over $500 for is worth only $150 to you. Furthermore, I work nearly 60 hours a week and now, on my one day off I have to sit at home for a five hour period to wait for your repairman (or at least some repairman, because I guess there really isn't a Maytag repair man anymore) to show up. I think holding me hostage for five hours is excessively poor service for a product I didn't get my money's worth. I am glad my family didn't suffer through a fire while waiting for the recall letter but I will not have confidence in my machine or in any Maytag product or service agreement again. I am glad I waited until now before buying the Maytag washer and dryer I've been wanting.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher model MDB7601AWQ on 1/04/06. The $300 sensor panel was replaced under warranty on 5/3/07. The second sensor board failed on 12/01/08. This time, after lengthy negotiation, Maytag agreed to cover the $300 cost of the board and only part of the cost of service. The third sensor board failed on 8/04/10. This time, Maytag would not cover any of the $159 service charge. Furthermore, Maytag consistently denies that the sensor board is a defective product. Three failures of the same board in 6 years is Maytag's standard. They have refused to provide information as to the reliability of the board, claiming that this is proprietary information and is only available if there is a government recall. Does this failure represents a potential safety hazard? If the board is unreliable, is Maytag's safety mechanism subject to the safety defects?

I bought a dishwasher from Home Depot about 3 weeks ago, it never worked. I called Maytag customer services on the same day; they told me that they will send someone to take a look on it 10 days later. When he came, he found that some part is defective, so he told me that this part will be shipped to my home 3-4 days later. Now it's one week later and I got a call telling me that it will take additional week, and it could also take another week to schedule the actual repair and who knows what else could happen! I paid more than $540 for a dishwasher and I am almost a month now without a dishwasher. This is very bad!

I filed an email complaint yesterday (July 28) about a Maytag (owned by Whirlpool) dishwasher and received a response from you that it would be published within 48 hours.

I don't know if it was the result of some form of action taken as a result of that complaint or just coincidence, but the supervisor I have been waiting on a call from for almost a week, Julie ** (I had the last name wrong before) finally called me. I have been advised that they are going to replace the unit with the same or similar model most likely within the next 2 weeks. I am to expect a call by next Tuesday (Aug 3) with the details.

I was also advised that it will result in a new 1-year manufacture warranty. I still believe that this whole ordeal was more than the average consumer should have to endure in order to receive satisfaction from a purchased piece of equipment. I thank you.

We have a Maytag Dishwasher Model MDBH945AWW3, Serial E71195. Maytag is owned by Whirlpool. It was purchased and installed late July 2009. MFR warranted until August 16, 2010 per their customer service records. It broke in mid August and worked intermittently, sort of until we called on August 20th 2009; it wouldn't turn on at all. It came on automatically one night, but then nothing. I notified Maytag who dispatched Al's Appliance out of Spring Valley, MN, now closed and gone.

An individual came out, looked at and tested the unit and stated he would have to order 2 parts, the main board and the interface board. After a month of no response, I called Al's. Finally, they called back after a few days and recommended we call Maytag to order parts as we would get them faster. I was told what parts to order, and I contacted Maytag. After the usual run-around, the parts were ordered and received within a week. I notified Al's and the unit was finally repaired in October with both boards replaced.

In April 2010, the unit again failed and refused to operate. I notified Maytag and a repairman from A & E Appliances from Iowa came to repair, ordered 5 or 6 parts including a main board and interface board. He replaced various parts as well as the main board and interface board (again). The unit was repaired after about 2-1/2 weeks of not functioning.

In July 15th, 2010, the unit again quit working. I called Maytag who again notified A & E Appliance who sent out the same individual as before. He arrived, pushed a button and the unit started. He tested various things, but as the unit was now working, he couldn't identify the problem. The next day it quit again. The following day it once again began working. Two days later, it quit again. I notified Maytag again and was told they need 2 separate replacements and another confirmed breakage before they can do anything about replacing the unit. I explained that the problem is intermittent and I cannot guarantee that the unit will still be unusable when a technician comes out. I was basically told that it's their policy and I have to live with it.

They stated that they would try to send a different company technician out. I told them it wasn't going to be easy as our town is located approximately 1 mile above the Iowa border and 30+ miles from any town with over 1,200 people, the towns being Austin and Rochester, MN, Osage and Cresco, IA, and most people don't want to drive 70+ miles round trip for a single call. They insisted and contacted Bob's in Rochester on July 23rd, 2010. I then requested to speak to a supervisor and to advise her that we have no confidence in this machine and because we're retired people on a fixed income, we cannot afford to continue to replace main board and interface boards every 4 to 5 months out of warranty. I guess she didn't get it because she advised me that once replaced, they carry a 90-day warranty which certainly doesn't help and seems awfully convenient for them. The supervisor was Julie ** at 866-640-7146 extension 7771 who said she would review this case with their replacement board and get back to me either later on July 23rd or on July 26th. Today is July 28th and I still have not heard from her. I think I've been blown off.

On Monday, July 26, 2010, I received a call from Bob's stating they had tried to contact Maytag and tell them that Bob's does not service my zip code, but couldn't get through so he was calling me to let me know. I attempted twice to get through to Julie but only got her voicemail, but I did leave messages.

After the second attempt, I called customer service again. I was advised about Bob's coming out at which time I advised the representative that Bob's doesn't service our zip code. He stated that they are listed as servicing my zip code, but he insisted. He attempted to call Bob's while I was on the phone and couldn't get through. I then acquired the number that Bob's had called me on and passed that on which he called and left a message.

I told the representative I had no problem with A & E, and due to our location, that was probably all he could do so he has again set me up with a service call for this Friday, July 30th. I still have not heard from the supervisor, Julie ** regarding the replacing of the unit and I placed another call about 15 minutes ago, leaving a message as before. I realized the unit has gone down 6 times in the past 2 weeks, usually working the next day or so. On the past 2 occasions, we've could only pressed the 2 hour delay for it to work, the start button would not.

I feel this is out of hand and totally unacceptable for Maytag. They appear not to listen to the complaints and, instead, push their agenda upon us. In the meantime, we have a $500 piece of equipment that has been down for more than 3 months for repairs in less than 1 year. At best, I figure they'll simply replace the same parts as before, the unit might start working and that will be that as their warranty will then run out and we're stuck with a machine that, historically, will break again within 4 to 5 months.

My wife has physical limitations which was one of the considerations for purchasing the dishwasher. Her shoulders and back are, again, bothering her as a result of standing over the sink doing dishes. Both of us have had back fusion at L4, L5 and prolonged standing bothers us both. I spent $500 for a piece of equipment that won't even last a year or so; very unacceptable. I would like Maytag to replace this unreliable unit with another unit.

I purchased a $500 Maytag dishwasher in Spring of 2008, believing the claims that they "Are Built Strong to Last". In January of 2009, the control panel stopped working and needed to be replaced and now in July of 2010 the door latch has broken.

Once again, this $500 Maytag dishwasher is not working. I called Maytag to complain and they really had no interest in the fact the dishwasher keeps breaking down but they did tell me that there is a safety recall on the dishwasher because the heating element can catch on fire. They offered to send someone out to replace the heating element but that does no good if I cannot open the door.

I bought this dishwasher believing that I would have at least five years of uninterrupted service and unfortunately, the dishwasher seems to be breaking down every year and Maytag is absolutely no help. I really expected better quality from Maytag and am extremely disappointed in their attitude.

Three years ago we heard that our dishwasher was recalled by Maytag. We had it replaced by one of their recommended service contractors at no cost to us. Now, I just found out that the replacement dishwasher is being recalled for exactly the same problem. The unit could catch fire because of too much nickle in the heating element. Interestingly, that was not why I had called the company. I was having a problem with the control panel of the unit. And, after much research online, found that the problem is quite common. The control panels are poorly designed and moisture from the dishwasher gets into the panel and fries the circuits.

I was told that I could either have the unit repaired or receive $150 - $250 rebate on the purchase of a new machine (prices from $499 for the $150 rebate and $699 for the $250 rebate). This does not include the cost of delivery, installation and haul away (for which we must supply proof b/c it is a dangerous machine). If I opt for repair, they will only cover the cost of the replacement of the element. Yet, the control panel is just as serious a fire hazard as the heating element.

And, they won't do the repair if the unit is not working. I tried explaining the dangers of faulty electrical systems and the number of other consumers who have experienced exactly the same problem. But the customer service department doesn't want to deal with this problem. The customer service dept. appears to be trained monkeys with a script and no ability to handle real problems.

My complaint is in regard to a Magtag Quiet Series 300 dishwasher, (model MDBH970AWW). I purchased the appliance from Home Depot in Nov. 2003. By the end of 2009, the dishwasher had ceased to clean the dishes, was very loud, and the handle of the dishwasher was broken for the second time. More surprisingly, beginning in 2007, the tines of both the upper and lower racks of the dishwasher were rusted though. The rusty tines were scratching and ruining my dishes. I contacted Maytag Customer Service.

Customer Service told me that the racks were not covered under their warranty, because they were not the premium "DuraGuard" racks. A new replacement rack would cost $70. Maytag Customer Service also suggested a repair kit for fixing the racks, available at Maytag Service Repair Shops. I took a rack to a Maytag Shop located in Redmond, WA. I hoped that if personnel saw the condition of my racks, they might be able to assist me in replacing them. The Maytag shop was as unwilling to help me replace my rusted dishwasher racks as Maytag Customer Service had been. I was shocked at the deterioration and breakdown that occurred to the racks under normal use, and surprised that I even had to think about an appliance's parts dissolving.

I consider this problem a manufacturer's defect that should be covered under warranty. I received no assistance whatsoever from Maytag customer service for the problem I experienced with the dissolving coating on the tines of their dishwasher racks. The dishwasher did not hold up well; the handle broke twice, the coating on the racks was faulty, and ultimately, the dishwasher mechanically ceased to perform. I expected the lifespan of the Maytag Quiet Series 300 to be longer than it was, and for the materials the product was made from to hold up better than they did. Due to the lack of durability in all aspects of this model, I will not purchase or recommend a Maytag dishwasher again. When I was forced to purchase a new dishwasher, I bypassed the Maytag models and chose a competitor's dishwasher. I had to purchase a new dishwasher for $659(+tax) and pay $100 extra for installation.

The dishwasher has never worked properly. I've had 2 repairmen here as soon as it was purchased. According to them, there is nothing wrong. It has not worked at all since 2009.

The microwave's turntable does not work at all. That's been over a year and it smells like tires burning and does not heat. Now on the fridge, when you close the fridge door, the freezer door pops open. I paid a lot of money for these appliances to only last 3-1/2 years. I am a widow and I live alone. These appliances were not overly used or slammed around. I expected better quality and longevity from Maytag appliances. All widows feel like they get screwed over. I bought a Maytag dishwasher 18 months ago from Boscov's department store. I paid $420.00. In the 18 months, it has already had one repair (didn't close right). I saw the news on TV that it is being recalled as it can catch fire. Naturally, my model is one of the recalls. When I called the company, the most they can offer me is they will repair it. I do not want or trust that. The other is they will give me $150.00 towards another Maytag and then, only certain models. That's big of them. I paid $420.00 18 months ago! They will give $250.00, only if you buy a Maytag priced over $700.00. I am willing to settle with the $250.00. That seems fair since my dishwasher is 18 months old, but I think I should be able to decide what I want to purchase with my money! I am willing to buy a product that is under the Maytag umbrella. I know that Whirlpool bought Maytag and makes the Whirlpool, KitchenAid, among others.

I am very willing to take the $250.00, but I like to pick what I want and not be dictated as to what I must buy. Maytag seems to forget who the customer is. When you're on the phone, they listen politely and then "pass the buck" and give you another phone number and another "supervisor". They promise to call in 48 hours and they don't. It's a lousy way to treat a customer. With the way things are in the world, you can't exactly trust these big companies. Profits mean more than human life. So what if their dishwasher can catch fire? They told me to shut off my circuit breaker for the dishwasher. I don't want that piece in my house. It seems like the consumer is getting it up the ** again, for a change.

All I want is $250.00 and I'm willing to purchase a product in the Whirlpool umbrella of products. It should be my choice. I think that's reasonable since it is my money. I do not feel $150.00 is a fair amount for a dishwasher that is 18 months old, bought at a reputable store. Their product is at fault and they're dictating to me what I can buy with my money. I can't be the only angry person in the same boat. It's funny, I read that their CEO, Jeff Fettig, cuts the costs of Maytag products so that their profits would go up. Hmm?

In 2006 or 07', I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher quiet series 200 Model#: MDB4651AWB SERIAL#: 10317350GV for about $275.00 if memory serves me right. It worked great for about 2 years, then started leaking water, I did not realize it for sometime until my brand new $1000 (for the damaged section) kitchen cabinets started to crumble. After noticing the damage, I removed the front floor panel to the dishwasher, ran it and saw the leak which was now able to pour onto the kitchen floor. I ran it with a pan for about six months before calling Maytag to find out about parts. I ordered a new lower door seal $5 or so.

A few weeks later, made new parts for the kitchen cabinets, removed the damaged parts, fixed the seal on the dishwasher, and re-leveled everything, and put the front floor panel on the dishwasher. Everything worked great for about 2 months, then drip once again, this time onto the floor, I guess back to the pan. Well this morning I'm watching the news and a butch of Maytag Dishwashers were recalled for leaking, and electrical shorting. I got all excited thinking maybe. I called the number they mentioned gave them the model and serial # but mine was not on the list as it should be, after all it has the same issues. 2-days labor, and when I get around to replacing my new damaged kitchen cabinets, another $1000 for new cabinets. I purchased my Maytag quite series in November 2009 at Home Depot. They sent out one of their subcontractors (ADE) to install the dishwasher. They hardly spoke any English and didn't understand what they were supposed to do. They accomplished kinking the faucet's copper piping, causing it to break. They said they were done with the installation and left. However, they left the hot hose not connected to the main water line. They only connected the cold line. The water leaked all night under my cabinet and floor from the hole in the copper pipe. I called them the next day when I realized what had happened. They said they would not be able to come out till the following week because they were booked and were coming from San Jose.

I ended up calling Serve-Pro and Rosenthal Plumbing to fix the damage to the cabinets and complete the dishwasher installation. A week later the keypad goes out. I called Maytag and they couldn't send someone out for two weeks. Finally when the tech came out, he ordered the part and it came in 3 days to my home. A new tech came to install it a couple days later. It turned out that the first guy ordered the wrong part. So, the second guy reordered the part and again came rather quickly but the tech was not available for another week. Finally the first guy that ordered the wrong part came out the third time to install.

I was finally relieved that everything was fine. Two weeks later the keypad went out again. I called Maytag. They couldn't get anyone out to me for 3 weeks. They gave me a list of numbers for service providers they use. I called Mr. Appliance in Salinas and the guy came out on Feb. 12. I ordered the part. I called again today Feb. 22. George at Mr. Appliance would not be able to come out for two weeks. In the meantime, Maytag would not return the unit or assist me with a better service provider. I was told that Maytag would have to have a total of 5 service orders in order to consider returning the unit. I think my issues constitute that! I’m still waiting to use my dishwasher. The consequences are cabinet damage, faucet damage, and possible subfloor damage. And also time away from work and grief.

I contacted them to make them aware that I had a Maytag representative come to my house to confirm that I have a "hole" in my Dishwasher. I proceeded to ask them what I needed to do to proceed to fulfill my warranty. The warranty states on page 11 of the Users Guide Dishwasher: MDB that"Full Twenty-Year Warranty from the date of original purchase through the twentieth year, should the tub develop a water leak in normal home use, the dishwasher itself will be replaced free of charge.

I purchased my dishwasher March 29, 2003. It is not even 7 years old. The customer service representative proceeded to tell me that they would replace the "tub". She said the company had been sold and they now have a replacement part. That is not what my owners manual states. It states I would receive new dishwasher. This is a binding contract and I don't understand how they then cannot fulfill their legal obligation. I have never been sent any information stating that they had been bought and going forward all contracts are void and new terms have been set?

Upon returning in October, I continued using the washer once a week. Today, the dishwasher stopped working. I have only been able to clean 20 loads of dishes since its installment date. It will be at least 2 weeks before the machine can be serviced under the warranty, and based on other customers' complaints, more time may pass before it is working again. Had this dishwasher been used once a day from the time it was installed, it would not have lasted even 3 weeks. The Maytag brand name should not be used a standard for quality.

I purchased a dishwasher Model #MDBTT79AWB on 9/8/04. On 11/02/05, upper roller on rack broke. I called and requested they send me a total of (4) because these look like something that will continue to be a problem. She agreed and did. (These were about 5 cent parts to manufacturer.) Those 4 rollers lasted until 02/06/07 at which time I called to get more, either under a warranty because of a known problem or I'd pay for them. I was informed the rollers were no longer available. I must order an entire new rack with redesigned rollers for $128 plus tax and shipping or redesigned rack adjusters including rollers, but they were back-ordered.

I lived with two broken rollers for 1-1/2 year. During that time, the door latch and handle broke. I ordered replacement from Repair Clinic.com on 12/13/07 and replaced for $30.23. On 12/06/08, I ordered replacement rack from ServAll in Maumee, Ohio for $140.55, and I picked it up 28 miles each way. Three weeks later, unit was not getting dishes clean. I performed field service test and discovered the turbidity sensor had an error. I elected to not replace because it was another $32. I uninstalled, bench-tested with water supply, and drained tub. All operations and modes seemed to be functioning. I reinstalled and operated till 10/26/09 (Thanksgiving). Dishes were not clean (like never washed) when complete.

I determined wash motor/pump is bad (common problem). Replacement motor is approximately $130 plus tax and shipping. This was 2-1/2 months after the 5-year "Jetclean wash system" warranty expired. I called Maytag service, and they will do nothing despite the fact they got $140 of my money for a rack that could have been fixed with $1 worth of rollers. I will not purchase any more Maytag (Whirlpool) appliances for my home, and I will be sure to pass along to my family and friends my concerns with this brand. (Also had a Maytag Neptune!)

The front loading Whirlpool washing machine is now loose and knocking, so I'm fixing that myself at this time and hope it's just a loose bearing. It's only 6 months old. Good thing I kept my 10-year-old dryer. It's the only thing still working w/o problems. They are throw away, cheap bean counters, they design things to have a certain life span and they are falling short. I hope and pray the company fails. 100% failure rate is not the way to treat us little people. I can't have a 2% failure rate in my company or I go negative. On May 8, 2008, I purchased a Maytag dishwasher Model # MDB8601AWB. On June 29, 2009, I called the Maytag 800 number to report that the control panel on the dishwasher was not responding when touched. The service representative referred me to Matt's Appliance for service for my dishwasher and told me that Matt's would be in touch with me later on in the day to schedule an appointment. I didn't hear from Matt's for three hours, so I called them myself, explaining what the problem was.

On June 30th, Matt's representative came out to diagnose the problem, a short in the membrane panel, and would order the part. On July 16th, I called Matt's for a status report and was told the part should be in next week. On July 29th, I called again for a status report and complained about the length of time that had already passed, one month to be exact. I was told that the part was in but that a second part was due in that day and I was scheduled for repair on July 30th between 1:00pm and 5:00pm. I waited until 5:30pm on July 30th, and Matt's Appliance was a no show and no call. So I called the Maytag hotline to file a complaint and to see if there were any other certified Maytag repair people I could call, because, quite frankly, I was not happy about Matt's Appliance's cavalier attitude. I feel I had been quite patient up to this point.

I was told that Matt's had already been paid to service my dishwasher and that there wasn't any other representative in my area. Maytag called Matt's and left a message expressing my concerns. I heard from Matt's at 6:13pm that evening to say they wouldn't make their July 30th appointment time and that someone would call me in the morning to reschedule. I finally heard from someone at Matt's at 11:00am the following morning and was told that the next available date for service was August 4th, between the hours of 3:00pm and 5:00pm. Needless to say, I was furious that I had to wait yet another week for repair to my dishwasher. I called Maytag to lodge yet another complaint. The customer service representative at Maytag called Matt's Appliance and was told an entirely different story as to why they failed to show up for the scheduled repair and that I was being difficult.

Matt's Appliance finally showed up on August 4th, spending 15 minutes to fix the dishwasher and left. Just a little over 30 days after the service, the dishwasher has failed again with the same problem - the control panel isn't responding when touched. I have not called Maytag back and decided to send a letter to the address furnished in the owner's manual in Cleveland, TN. I received the letter back - return to sender, unable to forward. In the interim, I received a letter asking me to extend my manufacturer's warranty for another period of time. Why would I want to pay to extend a warranty for service I know I am not going to receive? Needless to say, I will make it my mission in life to never again recommend any Maytag or Whirlpool product.

At this point, we had been without a dishwasher for a month.

I then called Sears, which scheduled an appointment 5 days out to come and service our dishwasher. They did come on the date they were scheduled and were very professional. We were told that the control panel would have to be replaced, and we gave the serviceman over $200.00 for a new one. We were told that the part would be in in about a week and were scheduled for another appointment to repair our dishwasher when our part arrived (This was supposed to be shipped to our home address.).

A week went by, and we had to cancel the repair appointment, because the part, which was ordered from Maytag, did not arrive. So we rescheduled for the next week. The part still did not arrive the second week it was promised. So at my urging, the people at Sears looked into it and told me that the control panel for my 2-year-old dishwasher was on back order.

It has now been an additional 5 weeks (a total of 7 weeks since the Sears repairman came to our home and we gave him a check for the part that was needed for repair). In the last 5 weeks, I have not heard from Maytag. Also, I have not heard from Sears, and where my part is. I would certainly not buy another Maytag appliance. This is my saga: I have a Maytag dishwasher: MDBH950AWW Serial # 12936916AT. We arranged for a new part to be installed through the Advantage Appliance Repair shop in West Springfield, MA.

The repair man came and took the dishwasher apart on or about June 16th, and then could not complete the heater installation because he did not have all the parts. My husband asked the man to make it functional again until he returns. The repair man told my husband he could not put the dishwasher back together because it was a fire hazard. I called the parts folks and they could not help with obtaining the parts as they were coming from the factory. After days of hand washing, I called Ashley at your corporation at 800-253-1301 to ask that my dishwasher be fixed by Friday, 6/26, or I would have to order a new dishwasher. Ashley was told the parts are on back order until mid July and it was impossible to fix. This was confirmed by her supervisor, Wendy. With that answer, I ordered a new dishwasher that was delivered and installed in less than 24 hours.

I believe I should be compensated for having my dishwasher dismantled and left for an extended period not working. Why run a business this way? Why not be sure you have all the parts in the box before sending a person to fix something? I certainly regret participating in allowing you to fix my dishwasher.

On July 1st, Ava called me again at work because she heard I was dissatisfied. I told her the issue and she could not believe they handled things as they did. She said she would see if I could be compensated and spoke to her supervisor, Mitzi **. Ava came back on the phone and said there was nothing the company could do and reminded me this was a voluntary decision.

I feel the initiation of your company cold calling me to involve me in this poorly planned heater swaps is dishonest. Why call? Why my husband was told this was a fire hazard? If this is true why give me a choice to have it fixed? Do you have another motive? Did you not care I was living with a fire hazard? I have the original heater and plan to keep it until I can understand what the issues are. Again, I believe I should be compensated for the stress of dealing with your company, the loss of my dishwasher and the realization I was living with a dishwasher that was a fire hazard. I had to purchase a new dishwasher. Thank you for responding to my frustration working with your company.

I received a notice for Maytag repair regarding the possible fire in the dishwasher. Maytag scheduled a repair tech. The tech replaced the door, and when done, water went into the tub but the dishwasher wouldn't run nor would it drain water out. The tech left, and I had to drain the tub myself. Maytag sent another tech with a control board, saying this should fix the problem. The tech replaced the control board, and there's no change. The dishwasher still would not run. He suggested another door kit. I said okay, but this is getting ridiculous.

I called and complained to Maytag and the service company. They noted my complaint and said they would make sure I would have a working dishwasher when they were done. I told them I didn't want to wait any further and that I want a new dishwasher now, since I didn't have any faith they would get my dishwasher fixed and that if they did, it would probably never work "right" again.

Anyway, I agreed to another visit to replace the control board again. The tech came out and replaced it, and this time, not only would the dishwasher not run, the door was so tight that it takes 2 hands to slam it shut and 2 hands to release the tension to open it! I called Maytag again and complained, and they said, "Let's just wait and see if a 2nd control board fixes the problem before we do anything else." I told them I was really unhappy with the way things were going and did not want to wait any longer and that I wanted a replacement dishwasher now.

The person I was speaking with in the Safety and Recall department said since my dishwasher was almost 10 years old, it was considered "end of life," and therefore, the most Maytag would do for me was give me a $75 voucher towards a new dishwasher. I was incensed at this and told her my dishwasher was working fine before they started to "fix" it and that her attempted resolution was unacceptable. She said again, "Let's see what happens when the tech comes out." I agreed to that.

The tech came out the following Monday and replaced the control board for a 2nd time. It did not solve the problem. He had no clue as to what to do about the door not being able to close, but that is irrelevant since the dishwasher doesn't work anyway. So, I called Shirlene, the Maytag Recall and Safety program person; and she offered right off to give me a new mid-range dishwasher but that I would have to pay $125. I told her I didn't understand nor like the fact that they were asking me to pay $125 for a new dishwasher that I had no hand in damaging and Maytag did.

Additionally, my family had been without a dishwasher for over 6 weeks, and it was a major inconvenience. She said, "You have to pay something." I told her I would think about it and call her back. She said I have a week. All told, we have been without a dishwasher for 7 weeks!

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher, model MDB6000 AWA, which was recalled in Dec. ‘07-Jan. ‘08 for: "Liquid rinse-aid can leak from the dispenser of certain Maytag brand dishwashers and come into contact with the dishwasher's internal wiring which can short-circuit and ignite, posing a fire hazard." I had already seen and smelled smoke coming from my dishwasher in Dec. 1995 before the recall. I called a repairman who said, “It sounds like it needs a new motor.” He ordered one, installed it, turned the dishwasher on and there was still "smoke and the odor of smoke". He took the door off and said the wiring was all burned and "repaired it with new wiring." He said it did not need a new motor.

After repairing the wiring, he said I would not be able to use the rinse-aid. It had caused the wiring burning, but the dishwasher should work properly. So, I did not have rinse-aid use for the next couple of years. I paid $127.62 for this "semi-repair" job. When a Maytag recall was issued (printed in the newspaper), I contacted Maytag. They sent the "replacement part" by mail and several months later, a repairman came and installed the new part. My instructions from the repairman were "You may have to 'bump' the door shut for a few weeks." Not only did I have to indefinitely "bump" the door shut, I had to constantly replace the ring or cord every time I opened the dishwasher door; it didn't stay in place while in use.

The water decided to not drain every time I used the dishwasher, which is about twice a week (with only 2 people in the household). There is now discoloring and "swelling" in the door and around the control buttons in the control panel. I called Maytag (one of their many numbers) because I think they should be responsible to refund the original repair I paid for, since it was part of the recall issue. I do not think the dishwasher was properly repaired by the "recall repairman". I called Maytag because I did not have any receipt of the repair they authorized and asked them the name of the company that had replaced the door for them. When Maytag gave me the name of the repair company, I called the repair company. They said, "Oh, these are different issues than the recall issues; we'll be glad to come out, but it will be $85 for the service call."

I am very angry because I believe I have paid for an original repair that I shouldn't have had to cover and I don't believe the Maytag recall repair has been taken care of properly that Maytag supposedly has covered. A friend recently told me that when her dishwasher wouldn't drain, it was because the repairman had "kinked" the hose when putting the dishwasher back into place after her repair. Since there was still a "smoke smell" the last few times I used the dishwasher, and because of the door and control panel being "swollen" and "off color", I am wondering if I was still not supposed to use rinse-aid after Maytag supposedly repaired the door. The repairman did not give any instructions as well as not leave me any kind of receipt.

Am I the only dissatisfied Maytag customer you have heard from? Do you think Maytag should be responsible for the two repair jobs and come and repair in properly now? I can't bring myself to contact another repairman and have additional costs that all totaled may be more expensive than just going out and buying a new dishwasher (which also is not in my budget.) On March 23, 2009, our Maytag dishwasher (model # MDB4100AWB) caught fire due to a wire harness short. Our cabinets were charred and a piece of flooring was ripped up because part of the unit was melted to the floor. When the fire department came, they cut the water line to remove the unit so I had $45 worth piping that I had to repair. I also have a $500 bill that I owe to the fire department. When I contacted Maytag (Whirlpool), they said the unit was under a recall, apologized and then offered me $125. Are you serious? We had a fire, damages, and all I asked was that the unit be replaced and the fire bill be covered. I was never notified of the recall and the unit was registered. I feel like a helpless victim of total negligence on their part.

If you go to one of Whirlpool's (the current owner of Maytag) websites, at the top it lists some of their values. Responsibility is one of those values. What a joke! We are soon to be a family of five with one modest income living paycheck to paycheck (barely), and I am trying to be as reasonable as possible and big business is screwing my family. If there are any actions I can take, please let me know. I am sure that there is a little bit of money available from a company that pays its executives millions. All I want is to be reimbursed for the dishwasher and the $500 fire run bill. Any help is greatly and sincerely appreciated.

M-63 Benton Harbor, MI 49022-2692 RE Maytag dishwasher: Model MDB6600AWW Serial Number 12924318AT Dear Mr. Fettig: Customer satisfaction is priceless. All executives should want to know when customer dissatisfaction with their product line overtakes customer satisfaction and recommendation. My wife and I have in the past owned several Maytag clothes washers and dryers, as well as earlier Maytag dishwashers during our 44 years of marriage. I want you to know that we are more than unhappy with the above dishwasher. The dishwasher will not even clean butter off dinner knives. All items going into the dishwasher have to be rinsed and scrubbed thoroughly before being placed in the dishwasher if there is to be any semblance of cleanliness after a wash cycle. Even with the rinsing and pre-scrubbing, the dishes and silverware are left with dishwasher streaks. We are at a point of frustration where we are seriously considering replacing the dishwasher, though the machine should have a longer life than what we have experienced (and it has never cleaned properly). Certainly, with the degree of frustration we are experiencing, Maytag or Whirlpool products are not replacements to consider. It will be difficult to recommend your companies products to others, and it is easy to express our disappointment with people, fellow consumers. Sincerely, Buzz Kalkowski

It wasn't part of the recall, but it was leaking buckets. Three service calls later, you finally agreed to replace the seal on the door and spray arm. In July 08, my control panel stopped working. Maytag sent over A&E service factory. The technician advised that the part I wouldn't have to pay for, just the service call. I did. One month later, they finally came back with the part and installed it. As of yesterday, 10/22, the control stopped working again. I called and spoke with Beverly at the customer service office at Maytag. She put me on hold and advised that I did not need to pay for the service call or the part. The service call was set up for today. The technician from A&E service factory came out. He said I would have to pay for a new part. I told him no. I asked if there was a warranty on parts. He said no. There is just the original warranty on the unit itself. He told me to call Maytag while he was there. I did and the supervisor was useless. I called the parts department after I told the technician to leave and hung up with customer service. I spoke with Jaime and she was very helpful. She called A&E service factory for me and came back and said the technician was wrong and that they will come back, free of charge with a new part but I have to wait until his information is downloaded. If I do not hear back, I will be calling again tomorrow. If this is not taken care of I am going to purchase another dishwasher but from a different company liek GE or an international co. I will never purchase another MAYTAG applianace again and I will never recommend to another to purchase Maytag. In fact, I am going to post my story on the internet to let everyone know the lack of knowledge from your authorized technicians, lack of quality in product and lack of quality in parts. It is a crime to produce a product that only lasts a little over 2 years when you should be getting at least 8-10 out of it. I might have even been satisified with 5 years, but 2 is ridiculous. They never notified me, although they DID cash both checks promptly. In March, when I noticed the duplicate payment, I attempted to get one of the amounts back - I had no luck in getting them to admit to having a duplicate until I cancelled the extended warranty completely. THEN the 'fun' began.

I was told I'd get my money back in 8 to 10 weeks - but still, no one 'admitted' to my duplicate payment. I started calling & emailing to try to get my moneys back in March; I received the first refund check in the first week of August, the second one on Aug. 13th. They held my moneys all that time, making me badger them and spend my time and effort trying to get a legit answer as to when I could expect my refunds, for over FOUR MONTHS.

I'm convinced if I hadn't threatened to make a formal complaint to the State of Fla.'s Atty General about this 'theft', that I wouldn't have my moneys back now. I will NEVER buy another Maytag product, NEVER. I lost the use of my $215.00 from sometime in February until Aug. 13 of this year; the worst 'cost' was in time, effort, anger and frustration of dealing with a dishonourable company that promised, after much effort on my part, to refund my moneys in an exhorbitantly long time, yet still it was so very much longer.

We bought a new Maytag dishwasher and had it delivered on 8/8/08. When it was hooked up it leaked out the bottom. My husband checked and said it was coming from the middle of the tub underneath - not by any hose connections. We went back to Home Depot where we bought it and they called Maytag only to be told that Maytag would not take it back until they came and confirmed it was faulty. This was frustrating as now my husband had to take another vacation day to be home for the repairman to come, not to mention I was now in my second week without a dishwasher.

A Maytag repairman came yesterday and said it was indeed defective and unrepairable and needed to be replaced. I went back to Home Depot and they said they would order a new one and pick the old one up next week - which I agreed to.

This morning a woman called from the Maytag repair shop and said she had just spoken with Maytag and they would not replace the dishwasher but would order the part and have it repaired. I informed her I would not accept a repaired new dishwasher - I wanted a new one as I had not even used this one. She informed me that Whirlpool/Maytag's policy as of this Monday is not to take back defective appliances but to fix them. I called Home Depot and they are going to take back the defective appliance and supply us with a new one. Why they should have to take over for the poor craftsmanship of Maytag/Whirlpool is nice, but unacceptable to me as a consumer. If indeed this is Maytag's policy, which I was informed it is from a Maytag repairman's shop - they must have quite a few bad machines - so where is their quality control and accountability to the public.

My husband will have to now be off work for a third day so we can get the new dishwasher. Home Depot is the one who is out financially on the machine - Maytag will not stand by their own appliances. I will certainly NEVER buy another Maytag/Whirlpool appliance and will tell everyone I can find to listen and tell them about Maytag's policy before they buy one.

(fascinating name under the circumstances!) wrote that "a man-made machine failing is not out of the realm of possibility". What I do not agree with is that "failing" should mean that the machine does not do the dishes, not that it starts a fire! This is NOT a typical appliance in a typical house. This was a machine that was known to have caused numerous fires and killed someone. Since the fire did not spread to the house and we were not seriously injurred, all I asked for was the cost of replacing the dishwasher ($800).

We purchased a stainless steel dishwasher from Maytag (now Whirlpool) 2 years ago. Model #MDB9750AWS. From the beginning it didn't work well and often left the dishes dirty and greasy. We also arrived home several times to a large amount of water all over our kitchen floor after running the machine. Twice we had the same technician in who claimed the issue was with the seal on the door and that our water wasn't hot enough (a cop out to say the least). And twice they replaced the seal. Now how many times have you heard of a brand new dishwasher needing its seal changed in the first 2 years? NEVER!

After another major flood in the kitchen Whirlpool sent a different technician to look at the machine. This time he realized that there had been a manufacturing defect in which a hole had been drilled through the actual tub of the dishwasher therefore leading to the water leakage. Needless to say our cabinets around the dishwasher have been extensively damaged and will need to be replaced. We've been attempting to get a new dishwasher from Whirlpool to replace this piece of garbage. All was fine and dandy when they delivered the new one - except it wasn't the correct model. This wasn't noted until the technician had arrived to do the install. Even he was frustrated and got right on the phone to Whirlpool and asked them to expedite the delivery of another model. Ya right!

It's been another 2 weeks and Whirlpool claims that the paperwork was never processed for this (yep, someone definitely dropped the ball) and we'll MAYBE get the right model in the next 10-15 days. I'm not holding my breath. My biggest issue is with their customer service department who don't care in the least about the situation. Nobody is held responsible for their wrongdoing - and of course we have yet to receive an apology. It seems that everyone in their customer service department just backs one and another up and refuses to pass you onto someone who oversees complaints ("No, they will not speak to you. You must deal with me, and only me".)

Gabriel is by far the worst. He likes to talk down to you and make you feel like you're incredibly stupid. I'll NEVER EVER buy another product from Maytag/Whirlpool. If something goes wrong with an item I can live with it and will understand, as long as I'm receiving appropriate customer service. This is obviously not the case with Whirlpool Canada.

The company is insisting I provide the serial number of the appliance to them; I don't have it because the machine was hauled off after the fire.

Luckily I was home at the time of the incident and called 911. The fire in the dishwasher burned itself out, although there was a terrible electrical fire in the house for several hours after. I had to replace the appliance at he cost of approx. $900.00.

In May 2005, I purchased a Maytag Dish Washer. By September it had broken 3 or 4 times, and I was on the phone for over a month with customer service. I asked for another one, and was told they did not replace them, only fixed them. I finally got a manager, who agreed to replace it, which they did. By October 2006, it happened again - the same problem. They came over and looked at it, and again had to order the part, which is why they came more than 1 time. They fixed it and again in October of 2007 it happened again, and when the Tech came over, he said that if the touch pad gets wet it shorts out, which I found unbelievable, because it is a DishWasher, and it deals with water. They ordered the parts, and it took about 2 weeks to get them. They (different Tech came out) repaired it and I asked about the pad getting wet, and this Tech said the same thing. I don't know at this point what I can do. I do have a 3 year extended warranty on it, and am glad I did have that. I believe the washer cost me somewhere between $500 and $800 and I will never buy another Maytag product again. I also purchased a Jenn Aire from the same people, also owned by the people who make Maytag..and I am not happy with that either, but at least it cooks, even though the bottom panel is falling off, and my warranty does not cover that.

I received a Recall letter from Maytag stating. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with Maytag Corp. has voluntarily recalled 2.3 million Maytag and Jenn-Air brand dishwashers due to fire hazard. Liquid rinse-aid can leak from its dispenser and come into contact with the dishwasher's internal wiring, which can short-circuit and ignite, posing a fire hazard.

I called as instucted and received a box with replacement part within a week, and was instructed to call one of the local installers they referred. I called and scheduled an appointment. The tech arrived on 8/15/2007. Replaced the part and left. That evening, I noticed the dishwasher would not stay on. I called the installer again. Another tech came out and pointed out that the previous tech had broke some parts when installing replacement parts. He had to order new parts. Parts could take 7 to 10 days to arrive. Here it is 10/4/2007 (49 days) later and I still don't have a working dishwasher.

I've called the company that did the Installation, Speedy Appliance Repair (That's A Joke), muliple times and each time they either say, the parts should be here today or the part should be here tomorrow. I've called Maytag three times (including Today) and all they say is, we will look into this and someone will get back to you. This is worse than ridiculous.

Wanting to retire with good quality appliances in our new home we furnished it with MayTag washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwaave and refrigerator. We thought we would have years of carefree service without repair bills. What a joke. In less than three years we have had over $800.00 of repair bills and much more to come. The built-in mocrowave died after only 16 months, the dishwasher is broke, the washer is making strange noises and the refrigerator has been repaired recently only to last three weeks before the compressor went out. I have been without it for a week and can't get it fixed for another two. I would really like to throw something at the television when the MayTag lonely repairman comes on.

I purchased a new Maytag dishwasher in 2003. It never worked properly. There was always water left in the bottom of the pan and the top dishes never seemed to clean properly. Recently the unit completely stopped. I called maytag and they gave me the number of A&E Factory service. I set up an appointment for the next morning appointment. The night before I received a recorded message on my telephone repeating my time of appointment between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm.

By 12:15 pm I still had not seen or heard from the repairman. I called A&E and was told the computers were down and it was causing the repairmen to be delayed. I called two hours later and was told that there was two people before me. At 5:15, the repairman showed up.

When I asked why he was so late, he told me that he had me down from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. It took him 10 minutes to tell me that my motor was bad and that it would cost me over $300.00 to replace it. Then charged me $69. for the service call. I spent my whole day waiting - how much is my time worth? I called A&E and said I wanted to file a complaint. The person on the line said that someone will call me. that was 4 days ago. I will not purchase another Maytag.

I bought a Maytag JetClean series dishwasher in 2005 for about $600. Almost two years later, to the date, I am forced to pay $200 to replace the adjustable middle rack because the two small pieces on which the rack slides in and out along the rails have failed.

I am deeply disappointed at having two critical pieces of plastic fail within two years of normal use (family of 3). The paltry 1-year warranty should have been a clue!

Our Maytag dishwasher (4 years old) had been temparamental for a while , until it just stopped working in September 2006. We called an authorized service ctr. and they replaced the control board . It worked ok for a couple of months and again started giving us problems around Feb 2007 . It would not start consistently . By March , it stopped working ( would not start at all). We called the same appliance repair shop ( Davidson's Appliances), and after a lot of scheduling goof-ups they replaced the control panel again. The machine worked ONCE after that and stopped again!

I spent around $210 in the past 8 months on trying to repair the dishwasher , and am finally giving up and buying a new one.

In June 2005 we purchased a Maytag dishwasher, model #MDBH965AWQ. Had approximately three visits the first year. The wheels that held the upper rack in place kept breaking. In June 2006 purchased extended warranty (Maytag Dependability Plus). Had more visits for the upper rack. Maytag finally re-designed the mechanism, originally it was plastic, and now is metal.

Due to the visits this past year under the extended warranty, for the upper rack, our extended warranty has maxed out, and they will no longer cover the dishwasher, even though the warranty was for three years. We now have a new problem of the dishwasher not filling with water.

I have talked to three different customer service reps from Maytag, and two from Maytag Dependability Plus. Maytag's stand they have done their job, the dishwasher was covered for the first year under the manufacturer warranty. The warranty company claims they have done their part as stated in the the warranty agreement.

I have a barely 2-year-old dishwasher, with multiple service calls, a maxed out extended warranty (which cost me 94.47), and a dishwasher that does not work. The original purchase price of the dishwasher was $450.00

My dishwasher was part of the Maytag recall. On March 5th I received a letter said that the part was sent. After numerous calls the part was actually sent and installed on May 5th. In the process the control panel was broken. That part has been ordered twice. Per discussion with Maytag employee in parts department on May 31, the control panels are on backorder and will not be available until mid July.

I don't use the third rack as my dishes don't come clean. Have had it repaired 3 times. Water leaks from the freezer seal on my fridge. They say that is normal. I have the Neptune front loading machine and my towels stink really badly. They say to run bleach through, wash around the seal take the light out and leave the door open. Maytag appliances are not made like they used to and I will never buy these products again as I have not had any self satisfaction in receiving good working appliances that I paid for.

I bought a Maytag Dishwasher and Maytag Neptune Laundry Machine. My mom had Maytag machines for 20 plus years and I never knew of a problem. We moved to a new house and I bought some new appliances shortly there after. Maytag seemed like a good choice at the time. I wish I had done the research at that time. We bought the top of the line in both the Laundry and Dishwasher lines. I do not need to tell you about the Neptune nightmare.

The dishwasher was an even worse experience if you can believe it. In the first two years it was broken over 20 times. There is a constant sludge in the bottom of the machine. The dishes come out dirtier than when they went it. Sometimes the machine will not pump any water in before it runs so it just bakes the grime on the dishes. I called Maytag to discuss the problem. It is said that the downfall of a company is evident long before the fall in the response you see from the employees. If that is true Maytag's days are numbered. The people know the products are garbage and are tired of hearing it from other people. They are programmed to say, "I am sorry, there is nothing we can do." If you are looking for an appliance I would stear clear of anything Maytag, and now Whirlpool, since they are one and the same.

One Lowe's serviceman said my water was not hot enough, the next one told me not to keep the dishwasher detergent under the sink. Next I called MAYTAG service. Their serviceman tested my water for hardness and leveled the dishwasher as he said that it was not properly installed by LOWE'S. I purchased a Maytag dishwasher model number MDB8600AWB just over a year ago. The dishwasher has never worked. The dishes are often dirtier when they come out then when they went in. I must wash the dishes before and after use of the dishwasher. With this same complaint, I have had four service calls with various items replaced, no change in the original problem.

When I called custoemr service to request escalation of this problem, the supervisor I spoke with told me nothing could be done unless the problem was determined to be unfixable. She then transferred me to non working number at Maytag and disconnected me. I have also filed a complaint through the Maytag website and the Better Business Bureau.

I spent $500 on a dishwasher that does not perform the basic cleaning of dishes.

I requested service on my 20-year-old Maytag dishwasher. Three days later the repairman came. He said two parts could be at fault but couldn't narrow it to one. We had to order both to be covered for the problem. When the parts arrived there was another three-day delay before he installed them. One of the new parts, the timer, was defective. He had to order another timer. When it came we were told the earliest appointment was six days in the future. Despite bringing a defective part previously and despite complaints to corporate consumer affairs at Maytag they would not set an earlier date. This is NOT an example of good service so I wish you would take this company off your list of responsive companies.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher locally on January 25, 2001. On April 16, 2001 (2 1/2 months later), it died. Since it was under warranty, I called an appliance repair company. They came out, called Maytag and were told to order and replace the motor. A week later, they did that. It didn't work. They were told to order and replace the control panel. A week later, they did that. It still doesn't work.

Now they have to order a new gasket and latch - probably another week. I called the dealer that I talked to Maytag after the motor didn't work and said I want a new dishwasher. They said no - but would give me an extended warranty. After the control panel didn't work, I called Maytag again and asked for a new dishwasher. They said, let's go ahead and fix it again and after six months, if it breaks again, they will give me a new dishwasher. I said no - I want a new dishwasher now. She said the warranty didn't cover replacement - only repairs - although she had just told me they would replace it in another six months if it broke again. Disgusted, I hung up. I have had use of a three month old dishwasher for barely two months.
