I purchased a Bravo 300 MVWB400VQ in 2009. I knew in 6 months that I had made a huge mistake. The clothes began coming out soaking wet - the dark clothes have lint, pet hair, and rings on them. The large capacity drum is just that... a big drum. If I wash bedding in it, it becomes off balance and sounds like it's fallen over. I have used only HE detergents, and I wash the washer (yes, wash the washer, does that tell you anything?) before the light comes on. Now the machine sounds like it's full of loose parts or rocks in it when it begins to fill up. It's even worse when the water starts to pump out. Now that I've read all the other complaints, I realize that I'm doomed. All of these trusting people have been cheated out of nearly a thousand dollars for a piece of junk. What good is Consumer Affairs if there is nothing done when there are so many complaints? I will join any lawsuit against Maytag if ever there is one. This is another lemon that promised everything and delivered nothing.

Washer goes off-balance even when clothes are evenly distributed in tub. When it is turned off to rearrange clothes (which may have to be performed a couple of times), washer goes back to starting cycle which means more water. Afraid to do laundry unattended.

After less than 3 years the interior lip of the machine is rusting. I found this when I was cleaning the interior of the machine because my white clothes were coming out with black soot on them. I can estimate that bleach was used in the dispenser 3-4 times tops over these 3 years. Very disappointed in the equipment. I've submitted a complaint to Maytag with hopes of a favorable response. This should not be a warranty item...it's defective design.

We purchased a Maytag dryer in Dec 2012 and several days ago the heating unit failed (mid April 2014). I did a quick search on this site and a few others where I saw numerous such issues with Maytag dryers. I realized that I was 4 months beyond the warranty period but took a shot at calling their customer service line to voice my displeasure only to get the company line that they could do nothing. My wife and I have been married 27 years this year and this was the 4th dryer we have purchased (1st and last Maytag) which obviously did not last like the other brands or like we expected. I definitely do not recommend this brand!

To anyone out there who is considering purchasing a Maytag washer. My husband & I purchased a Maytag Bravo top loader washer from Sears Hardware here in Columbus, OH. We had always received great review regarding Maytag products. This washer is expensive & does not work. We started having problems from the day we purchased & had Sears come out three times for repairs. This washer has a built in scale which is extremely sensitive. We are very disappointed in this washer. It takes an entire day to do 3 loads of laundry.

The washer goes off balance on every load. It doesn't do a god job cleaning the laundry. I do not suggest the Bravos series to anyone consider purchasing this product. It is a piece of JUNK! We purchased in Aug 2010 and the washer will need to be replaced within the next several months. Keep in mind that more expensive & lots of fancy extras doesn't mean a better quality washer or dryer. Stay away from Maytag or you will have the Old Maytag repair guy @ your door frequently.

This washer is no better than a glorified garbage can. Maytag AKA Whirlpool should be ashamed to put their name on this product. Like others before me on this website my washing machine sounds like a jet is taking off in my basement. When I contacted a serviceman, he told me the drum seal is broken and the bearings are shot. I have the machine since April 11, 2011. Not even three years to date! I do not have an extended warranty so shame on me to believe that a 900.00 machine should last well beyond 3 years. Unfortunately, I am getting the run around from Whirlpool as all of you have experienced. This is criminal. Not only are we as consumers being defrauded by irresponsible manufacturing but these huge hunks of metal and plastic are polluting our environment.

Our parents had washing machines and dryers for as long as 20 to 25 years and they actually cleaned clothes. We now have high efficiency machines that destroy our clothing and leave them dirty and wrinkled. They are now made to break in 5 years and from what I see on this website the average for breakdown is becoming 3 years. Do you think that this is not by design? The service call turns out to be more than the value of the machine, so the repairman doesn't even profit as consumers refrain from costly repair and repurchase. The only profitability is gained by the manufacturers that keep pushing out junk to the consumer. These manufacturers should be accountable like the American auto-manufacturers became accountable for the junk they manufactured at the expense of a whole city, Detroit.

The big problem is Lowe's and Home Dopey, I mean Depot. I am an appliance repairman for 30 years. Their machines are built to a lower spec. Buying same machine from mom n pop store will help! Will cost you more but it will last longer with less repairs! P.S., While Maytag does make some of their own appliances, when Whirlpool bought Maytag years ago they shut down the Newton, Iowa plant. Whirlpool builds that washer and puts Maytag's name on it. If you want a good washer buy a Speed Queen, go online and check their reviews! One more thing, LG and Samsung build terrible appliances. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them, just saying!

About 3 years ago we purchased the Maytag Bravos from our local Home Depot. According to the salesman, this was the latest and greatest machine from Maytag. It worked great for about 6 months. Since then we had to replace the water pump 3 times after we had water leaking on our floor, and since then we had to have a brand new circuit board installed without change from Maytag, but we had to pay the installers price. Now it won't operate again. This is the worst machine on the market and I don't recommend it to anyone.

The set lasted almost 20 years so when they died, we researched different options and decided to spend the extra money and buy a top-of-the-line Maytag Bravos 300 Quiet series. Wow, what a difference, 2 years in and the shaft and bearing is shot and needs replaced. I ordered the parts and installed the parts myself to save some cash. Now the washer is giving me a F72 error. Worst washing machine!!! I purchased the top loader Maytag Bravos washer HE in 2011 and they are the worst!!! It has been repaired three times already and now is making such a loud noise and I have been told it is the bearings. I did purchase the extended warranty and it expired. The reason I did not get a renewal is Maytag & Home Depot do not allow the the extended warranty company to let you know the warranty is ending. So now I have a 3 1/2 year old washer that needs bearings and will cost $500 + for repairs. Will not be spending anymore money on this absolute piece of junk. I had a Maytag that was 22 years old that I replaced and thought I was buying the same quality but never again another Maytag. This company may want to employ only repairmen because you will need only them because no one should buy a new one going forward.

No chance. We had only 2 good yrs. Now, at 2 yrs old, it is so so loud during the spin cycle that it sounds like an airplane (757) is flying overhead at 50 ft above the roof... No way can we possibly use the washer if anyone in the house is sleeping. Repairs cost more than the initial price of the washer. Please do yourself a huge favor and buy another brand. There are too many complaints about Maytag to even consider purchasing one. Not worth the aggravation!!

I had no issues with my washer. The best thing I ever did was stop using Sabrina softener in it and made the switch to vinegar. The worst thing I ever did was think that paying $900+ for a nice washer would get me more than a year! What a joke! I started noticing small leaks when my hardwood floors started lifting and once my husband looked into this, we realized there is no seal around the top of the drum. So there is no barrier between the drum and your floors basically. Then one day we had a flood.

As we watched the cycle run, we noticed that when the water was filling into the bleach and fabric softener compartments it was coming in at such a high rate, it was spilling over the sides down to the floor. So we went to the internet and found a few complaints about this, but no answers. Thankfully we found one guy who had the exact same problem and even had pictures that matched ours. Luckily a real appliance tech answered him and he couldn't even figure it out but took a guess at what I might be: the water inlet valve. But that was just a guess.

So we called around to find the part and talked with a few sales persons. One was so nice to even ask a technician standing in line. And he said that there was no way this could be it. But then we decided to take a gamble. We also noticed that both compartments were filling up at the same time, but the bleach should fill during the wash cycle and the fabric softener during the rinse cycle. So it was either the $104 water inlet valve. Or the $200+ circuit board. These are my options after already spending $900+.. So we went with the valve and thank goodness it worked!!!!

It is so disappointing that after a short time, this washer broke and cause more damage to my floors. It is an awful design. I bought myself the nicest front loaders for my first house. When that broke 7 years later, I bought this washer because I liked the no agitator design without the smell of a front loader. Now when this one breaks again, I'm not buying another HE machine. The majority of people I talked with today said that these HE machines are breaking down faster and faster as the get "better and better". I am so beyond disappointed, angry and in shock that this washer failed in less than a year and a half time. My hope is that this review will give the answers we couldn't find without paying an arm and a leg. Is this what passes for quality these days???

A couple of months after the warranty expired, my dryer broke: it stopped heating, made a lot of noise & needed a new thermostat. I believe the belt caused the problem. The second time it emitted an odor of carbon monoxide & the gas company shut it off. I believe the belt was part of/or cause of the problem then. Last week it again began making a lot of noise & I can't use it. I have to pay for the service call each time. This time Maytag said they would pay for the part but not the call & I have to again use the authorized service company. I've never been happy with the washer either because it badly twists the clothes & leaves wrinkles. I've had washers/dryers for 50 years with no problems (had Maytag in the past, also). I live alone and rarely do more than 3 small loads a week. I tried to get Maytag to stand behind the dryer but they will only agree to pay for the part (which is probably the fan belt).

Our Maytag Bravos Top loader with no agitator is headed to the junk pile after 1.5 years of BAD service. I honestly believe that whoever writes a good review on this machine is NOT an actual owner. Let's start with how it NEVER cleaned our clothes... The washer uses barely enough water to get the clothes wet. Soap remains in the clothes so the family is constantly itchy! If you add 3 additional rinse cycles, it's still not nearly enough to get out the detergent and you're left asking yourself, "What about the HIGH EFFICIENCY"???? Next there's the issue of the water never being hot ENOUGH to kill bacteria (we're back to the itchy thing). It's suppose to be an energy saver, but at what expense? It's not QUIET like promised (well maybe for the first few months). But upon opening the lid, you realize it was quiet because not a lot was happening to get the clothes clean.

Now let's talk about the horrible smell... I don't know where it's coming from... It occurs during the wash cycle and smells almost like a natural gas type odor. This is NOT because the washer wasn't cleaned once per month! Maybe it's the bright orange RUST near the bleach dispenser or all along the inside rim of the lid... Remember it's ONLY 1 and 1/2 years old. Before I get to the ISSUE that finally did this machine in... I have to mention the machine's UNEVEN load response.. Brace yourself, it sounds like 1000 tribal drums... and if you don't readjust the 200 lb water logged load, it will just keep on filling up with water and draining indefinitely (so don't leave the house if you're washing jeans, blankets or sheets!).

The FINALE of our machine is what I kind of always suspected it would be... the lid lock!!!! One day it stopped in the middle of a cycle and the door remained locked... After unplugging and retrying, the door unlocked, the buttons all worked, but the machine will not fill up with water or start a cycle. To be honest... I am so GRATEFUL! I get to buy a new machine and although I'm pretty pissed that the machine died after just 1.5 years, we can finally have CLEAN clothes again, peaceful laundry days and get rid of the ITCHIES!!!! Bye bye FOREVER Maytag!!!!!!

I purchased a Maytag Bravos 5 months ago. I had trouble at first with unbalanced loads. The repair man came to look at it twice. One thing that can unbalance your loads is if small pieces of laundry such as a sock gets outside the basket. Sometimes the basket has to be taken all the way out because small pieces can be lodged under the basket. This happens when you fill the machine too full and those small pieces float to the top.

The suspension on my machine ended up needing to be replaced. I have read lots of reviews about soap rings in the clothes. That happens from using too much soap. Make sure you are using HE detergent for one. I cut way back on my soap and my laundry gets clean and no problems with residual soap on my clothes. I was very unhappy with my machine at first but now I absolutely love it!

Coins and etc. constantly kept getting under flippers and couldn't be easily removed. I found that it was impossible to remove the plastic flipper without breaking a plastic mounting tab. On my first call to customer the Maytag Customer Loyalty Team, aka Customer Service (CS), I was told that the plastic flippers were not available as a separate part, and that the entire tub assembly with plastic flippers would need to be replaced. WHAT???????? THAT'S LUDICROUS. After temporarily securing the broken flipper to the tub, I thought I'd call again about a week later to see if the previous answer was correct. On this call, the customer service lady (whose name I have), said the flippers are available and that she would send two at no charge. A few days later two flippers arrived, but were not the correct ones. I then decided to drill two holes in the tub and remounted the broken flipper with two stainless screws as a permanent solution.

Two pumps needed to be replaced. One was replaced under warranty and one by myself. The one replaced by me was damaged by a coin that made its way from the tub to the pump. Other washer manufacturers provide a means of trapping such objects before they get to the pump. The wash cycle stopped unexpectedly numerous times without reason, after which the code 5d was displayed. I called Maytag Customer service. The representative didn't know what 5d code meant. Her suggestion was to call a service man. Again, I called later to ask and was told 5d meant excessive suds which wasn't the cause. Might this have been a control problem?

There were three incidents of water discharging onto the floor from under the washer over the last two months, which caused water to cover an area of approximately 5 by 12 resulting in extensive cleanup in addition to damage to stored items. Since these occurrences were weeks apart and unpredictable, I knew the problem would be difficult, if not impossible, to diagnose, even by a serviceman. I concluded that it was probably a problem with the control; either filling too long or not emptying the tub before refilling for the next cycle. That's when I decided to send this troublesome Maytag piece of junk to the landfill.

We bought this Maytag Bravos 300 Quiet series top loading washer 3 years ago. Maytag was always the top brand to buy so I thought it was the style washer but now I believe Maytag has failed to keep their standard of quality high. My clothes come out of the washer almost dry and full of lint. Even though I use the HE wash soap, it does rinse out of the clothes. Dark clothes come out with a noticeable scum so I suppose the lighter clothes do, as well, I just can't see it. I always have to double rinse them which defeats the whole economy issue. I'm not happy with this washer and would not recommend anyone to buy a Maytag brand washer. I absolutely HATE this Maytag Washer. DO NOT buy it. I would rate it less than one star however they did not offer a 1/2 star. If there is class action lawsuit please include me.

I purchased a Maytag Bravos XL washer and dryer at Best Buy (Pacific Sales) in March 2013 at Best Buy. I also purchased extended warranty on both machines. A few months into owning the machines, the washer started giving us a UL error light. It wouldn't finish the wash cycle and had to be restarted multiple times before it would do so. I called Best Buy and they sent out a repairman. He said the set-up cycle had not be run correctly by their own installation team (which I paid for), and he said that he had fixed it.

A few months later the problem started reoccurring again. Best Buy sent out repairman again who claimed there was nothing wrong with the machine. He left and the problem started reoccurring soon thereafter. I called again, and Best Buy said they couldn't do anything about it because Maytag could only work on the machine (it was now getting an F:51 error message as well). Maytag sent someone out who watched it run for 15 minutes and diagnosed that it was fine and left. I told him that the error didn't occur until the end of the cycle, but this seemed to make no difference to him (he didn't want to wait).

Same thing happened again (might run five to ten loads without an error and then it pops up again), and I called Best Buy again. They sent out the Maytag repairman again (different repairman). He spent about the same amount of time as the previous Maytag repairman. His conclusion was that the machine was fine; he told us that this particular washer (the top-of-the-line for Maytag) gets out of balance frequently and that we would simply need to live with it. Like his colleague, though I told him that the error message doesn't occur until the end of the cycle, he didn't stay that long.

Not long after he left, the problem started occurring again. I called Best Buy and indicated that they've had plenty of chances to repair the machine and that I wanted a new one. They said someone would call. The response: another call to schedule a repair visit. I called them back and told them that I didn't want another repairman but rather a new machine (we've wasted hours and hours of our time giving them a chance to make the purchase right). They then had someone from the Geek Squad call, who swore that he'd put his best guy on it and that he would actually work on it this time (ordered parts). He was supposed to show up this past Friday but called in sick (now rescheduled for this coming Friday). In the meantime, the machine (last night) quit working altogether. I have a pile of wet laundry and am faced with going to the laundry mat today.

I'm at an utter loss of words for this experience. It is truly the most frustrating consumer experience that I've ever had. I've watched Best Buy, Pacific Sales, and Maytag play pingpong back and forth across the table for months. I paid good money for top-of-the-line washer but have gotten bottom-of-the-line service. Surely, at this juncture, Maytag and Best Buy will finally do the right thing. I am going down to the Best Buy store this morning to visit with the store manager (and then to the laundry mat...not exactly how I wanted to spend my Sunday). If not, then next steps will be to figure out how to find representation to force the issue of the lemon law. Exasperated.

We purchased a Maytag Front Load Washer in April 2011. We did not purchase an extended warranty. From the beginning, it didn't seem to clean as well as our 12 year old top load Whirlpool had. Then in Summer 2013 it began to create fabric pulls in fine fabrics - tablecloths, blouses, etc. Whirlpool sent a repairman who charged $90 to tell us that the drum needed to be replaced because of a rough spot. He ordered a new drum and we understood that it would be replaced because it was within the 5 year manufacturer's warranty on drums, but we would have to pay for installation. 2 months later, Whirlpool informed us they could not supply the new drum. Why are replacement parts not available for a 2 year old machine?

The customer service rep told me that they would replace the machine for 15 percent of the cost of a new machine. All I needed to do would be to pick out a machine and let customer service know the model number and they would make arrangements and contact me re: payment of the 15%. When I contacted them again I was told that I would be expected to pay $508.00. That is 15% of a $3000.00 machine. It it completely unfair. Later, I was told that the first rep I spoke to must have been wrong because they don't pro rate replacements on a percentage basis. I told them that I was not interested and they have lost a good Whirlpool customer. In the last 15 years we have purchased 7 appliances made by Whirlpool. Never again! We had purchased the warranty (which we had never done before) so Lowe's gave us the choice of machines and we decided to go with the Maytag Bravos. Lo and behold, we're still getting holes in clothes. Several repairman told us the issue is common and is caused by the force of the water flowing into the machines plus the rapid spin cycle which pushes the clothes through the punched holes in the tub and the clothes catch on the metal on opposite side of the tub. Turns out sister-in-law had the same problem with her Duet and (not knowing I bought the Bravos and had the same issues) bought the Bravos and also is still getting holes. So I know it's not just me.

We also have problem with the machine not putting in enough water so clothes do not come out clean. The washing Machine doesn't dispense enough water to wash. I have taken clothes out of the washer and the items are dry in spots, most times you can smell the mustiness of a dish towel after it's been washed.

I used the steam clean dryer to fresh in up the curtains and the panels came out different lengths. Not eager to try that feature again. This is our 2nd dryer set purchase, the last set was 10 yrs old. I couldn't find anyone willing to repair it. I was told they don't make machines like they used to and they are all designed to last 10 yrs and you’re lucky if it lasts 15 yrs. Yes, we contacted Maytag and yes, like the many other folks who have shared their stories we also got the run around. Sad to say we are going to do our research and will be looking for a new machine. I'm going to shamefully donate the set to a charitable organization and use the receipt as a tax write off. IF you’re doing your research, DO NOT BUY A MAYTAG.

Purchased a new Maytag washer (MAH5500BWW) and matching dryer along with the pedestal that they sit on in late November of 2003. Spent well over $1900.00 for everything including the delivery charge. I noticed the build up of mold/mildew inside the washer starting in early 2005 but cleaned it every week or so and it seemed to go away. As time went along the mold/mildew smell got stronger even after each cleaning that I did with bleach. Nothing seemed to help.

It wasn't until 3 days ago when I had my dryer vent cleaned by a professional company that the technician looked over at the washer and said "You know that washer was recalled and that there was a class action lawsuit against Maytag about mold/mildew issues involving that model." He opened up the washer door and looked and was shocked. He told me that he himself had the same Maytag model washer and was notified by Maytag years ago about the class action lawsuit. He told me that he had received what he called a buy back check from Maytag. I wondered why I had not been notified since I had purchased both units new and registered both with Maytag after my purchase.

I decided to do a search for my washer model number and looked for mold/mildew issues and was shocked to find thousands of complaints involving this issue with this model of washer. I then called Maytag/Whirlpool and this is where the fun begins. I called and explained to the customer service rep at Maytag/Whirlpool what the problem was with my washer and asked her why I was never notified of any recall or class action lawsuit involving my washer. After thinking for a minute or two she says that she is unaware of any problems with my model of washer and asked me to recheck my model number. I do this and again she says that she is unaware of any problems associated with my washer. I explain to her about the thousands of complaints on the internet about this mold/mildew problem and she then says "I shouldn't believe everything I read on the internet."

At this point I ask to speak to her supervisor which she says she transfers me to and the fun continues. The supervisor then tells me that the customer service rep whom I was speaking with is new and doesn't remember the issues with my model of Maytag washer but she herself does remember the issue of mold/mildew build up inside the washer. I ask her why wouldn't this issue of mold/mildew in this washer be in your system for this rep to be able to refer to? She then says that since this issue was so long ago it's not in their system anymore. Huh???

She asks me if I was part of the class action lawsuit involving this washer and I explain to her that I was never notified of any such lawsuit so I couldn't have been part of it. She then says that "Maytag has since settled this issue long ago and since I missed signing up for the class action lawsuit I was just out of luck." Somehow it's now my fault for them not notifying me about the class action lawsuit years ago!

She then offers to send out a repair person to look at my washer and to look at the mold/mildew problem. I ask her if the service call was free and she snickered and said "no, why would it be free?" I tell her I thought it should be free because I paid nearly $2000.00 for these machines because I was looking to get the top of the line machines. Now I have a mold/mildew infested Maytag washer that smells and looks so bad its a assumed health risk. She again tells me that the service call will not be free and asks if I want her to schedule it now. I quickly decline!

She then tries explain to me in some odd fashion that I should be happy that I got 10 years of service from my washer/dryer and hoped that I would continue to purchase Maytag. What??? Are you crazy woman!? Now it's me who is laughing at this point. I almost say some very bad things to her but better judgment takes hold and I just hang up. Now you have heard my story and I'm now looking for another washer/dryer so I can remove this health hazard from my home. I purchased my Maytag Neptune pair on Jan. 24, 2005. I was unaware of the problems and lawsuit related to these items. Luckily, I didn't have any problems with them until May of this year. At that time, I spent $337.00 for a new control panel for the dryer. (Just because I didn't want to split up my "set".) I expected them to last me for the rest of my life. Of course, the washer had started to do something even the repair man had never heard of before, right about the same time. I told him that the tub would fill up with gallons of water, and "surprise" me when I opened the door on various occasions, flooding my laundry room and the basement downstairs. Mind you, this would occur even with the water supply cut off to the machine, no hot or cold running to it.

He performed a diagnostic test on it and said everything showed up fine. Of course, it didn't overflow while he was here. He is the one who told me about all the trouble and the lawsuits. I had wondered why I didn't see them for sale anymore. I have been keeping the water turned off except when I need to use it after all this time. It still happens! The repairman thought I was senile or something. I don't have a mold problem, no trouble with the door lock (yet), and out of all the comments and complaints I've read online today, only this site had one with a problem of it flooding the house. My husband and I are on a fixed income, and here is this unit (that I thought would be my last) rotting out my floor and wall in the laundry room, and flooding my basement. Not to mention it rusting out the inside of the washer and its pedestal. I would like to hear from anyone else who had this water problem, and what it took to fix it.

The washer, of course, is under warranty (about 90 days). Finally a repairman came out from Appliance Doctor. He had no clue what he was doing. The company was rude. Then Maytag said High Tech was coming out yesterday, Monday, Dec 16, 2013 between 8 and noon. It never happened and when I called High Tech, he was rude and said it was not on his calendar.

Maytag will not give my money back or a new machine or provide a competent repair company to fix it. I will be giving away the 1000.00 washing machine for someone else to fix and buying another brand. I would never buy Maytag anything after this experience. Clothes smell like mildew if you leave them in the washer even just a couple of hours. I'm 50 and had a few washer/dryers and these take the cake. I've used the washing machine cleaner/refresher (something I have never done on washers in the past) and still a mildew smell. The dryer has lint on both sides of the lint screen. And as stated before if you don't untangle your clothes they come out in a big knot, partially un-dried & very wrinkled. The lint on both sides of the screen concern me - I've never had a dryer do that before. It's not much lint on one side but enough to think something is not right.

I sometimes have to wet the clothes down to get them clean and I always have to double rinse them which defeats the whole economy issue. I'm not happy with this washer and would not recommend anyone to buy a Maytag brand washer.

We bought our Maytag Neptune washer in 2005. We chose Maytag because of their reputation, their headquarters in Michigan, and because looking at the machines in the store, they seemed to be well built. Were we ever wrong! You would think paying $1000 for a machine would get you a product that lasts longer than 8 years! Our other washer (a Whirlpool) lasted 20 years and was still working. I'm now consistently getting a 3e error code. In searching online, I found that this is a pretty universal problem and thought maybe Maytag had a recall on it. What a waste of valuable time. I did find out the machine was actually a Samsung. This seems like fraud. If I wanted a Samsung, that's what I would have purchased!

Contacting Maytag Customer Service was like Land of the Stupid. After getting the runaround and being sent to a phone number and website that only covered Samsung I called Maytag again. I was put in contact with another person who could supposedly help me with the recall. Even though I told him what the problem was, he gave me the robot response about sending the GFCI plugin and told me, "That should make your washer safe to operate." Seriously??? I replied, "This won't fix the problem because THE WASHER DOESN'T WORK and we got the recall part long ago." He then wanted to schedule a repair appointment. Not doing that, considering how stupid the Maytag reps I had talked to so far had been. Putting the hubby on the case, luckily he's pretty handy. On the upside, it was fun responding to the Maytag customer service survey that night, LOL. All of our other appliances are Maytag and they have all been great, but this washer is an unreliable piece of junk.

I had a Maytag washing machine replaced under warranty back in 2011 via Maytags Extended Service Plan. This took me several months to get done because of back and forth issues with Maytag not wanting to honor the replacement. Executive Support had to get involved after I wrote a complaint on this site. When they replaced this, they sent me forms to extend my warranty, which I did. They never changed the model or serial number so I've been paying for 2 years now for an extended warranty on a machine I do not own.

The new washer broke and I called in for service on 11/18/13. Active Appliance was sent out, said it was an easy fix but they needed to order a part. On 11/20/13 they contacted me to tell me I needed to speak to Maytag because my Model/Serial didn't match with my warranty records. I double-checked these and called Maytag Extended Service and was told that I would need to speak to sales at 866-730-6094. I spoke to someone named Lindsey there who told me that I would need to send a letter in to cancel my policy and request a refund for the 2 years I'd been paying for a non-existent unit and that they could start a new policy for me and get a service order in without issue. My call was disconnected during this and when I called back, I was told to call back in the morning to get back to Lindsey because the office was closing and they couldn't do callbacks.

I called back on 11/21/13 and spoke to Sam who verified that the letter was needed to cancel and refund but that I would have to pay for the repair to the washer myself and they'd tack on the cost of the new warranty onto that bill so I'd be covered AFTER THE FACT. Because the unit wasn't covered under warranty, I'd have to cover the costs myself and it had been MY responsibility, not theirs, to make sure that the correct model/serial was on the coverage.

Maytag sent me the forms and I would expect them to have added the new information on it...not send me forms with my original washing machine information. Especially as this had been escalated to Executive Support and the person I dealt with there had gone over everything to make sure it all got handled in a satisfactory matter. So for now, I'm waiting for a callback from the original rep, Lindsey, but Maytag tends to Stonewall and not return calls so I'm dreading how long this entire process is going to take and cost.

Called a local appliance repair service who said that there had been numerous issues with the Bravos series and to call Maytag to inquire about a recall. After 45 minutes on the phone with a very sweet naive young lady, she told me that the "new" models did indeed have a 10-year limited warranty on parts. However my 3-1/2 year old washer was not grandfathered into the warranty. I could (a) pay the $150 service charge to have someone come to inspect it or (b) buy a new one. I will be purchasing a new one but it will not be a Maytag or Whirlpool product. Now we know why the commercial for the Maytag repairman is not running... When I bought my washer, I also purchased an extended warranty not knowing that if the washer were to breakdown to many times, Maytag would refuse to repair under the service plan that I purchased because now they are telling me that by letting the coins fall through is abuse of the washer. New tech, new parts, new appointment, this was what happened throughout September and October. Tech was not happy with his job, stated that to me, would not do anything but install part, even if it didn't work. He took parts with him. The washer still not extracting.

Last Thursday he didn't even have all the parts, made the decision to replace machine without discussing it with me. Told me Sears would call me in 48 hours. Received call today Tuesday. Go to Sears to have it replaced. None of the machines they offered are compatible with mine. I will have to purchase the pedestal for the new machine, plus pay the overage to get the comparable machine. Service appointment people were horrible, cold and rude. Sear store at the mall where I purchased my washer said that it was not their problem. "Once we sell it you are in their hands." Have had Maytag for over 30 years. Will never buy it again. I felt I was going to be a great husband and purchase the top of the line Maytag Neptune washer for my bride of many decades. Purchased from Sears the first generation MAH3000AWW washer for $1k. All I can say is never again. I had service call after service call under warranty. The main control boards were known to be bad and they would all burn out in the same area. The mold was real bad. I had all the updates done with new better parts, so they said. Then the bearing went out in the tub, sounded like a jet taking off during spin. Maytag was not willing to cover the cost of the replacement tub alone if I did the install/labor. So I accepted a token $80 refund of my cost on the new drum.

At this point we were on our THIRD main control board. I knew it was only a matter of time until that one fails. I also learned that Maytag changed the main control board with a newer updated version less prone to the same failure. The problem was this new board was NOT compatible with the old washing machine motor. Therefore to repair out of warranty, you would have to purchase both parts.

Therefore the Neptune washer being out of warranty, I figured I would take a different approach. The Neptune washer in whole was out of warranty. Yet the motor is warrantied much longer, get the idea ;) A call to Maytag and push them not only to cover the cost of the new updated motor. I also told them I would need the new compatible main control board since the old was not compatible. Maytag emailed me some purchase order info. I found the parts locally at a distributor and picked them up, gave the info from Maytag to the distributor. Paid nothing this time for those parts. Installed them, knock on wood no further main control board failures since, going on five + years.

Therefore, keep in mind many times the main washer motor may be covered under a longer warranty than the machine itself. Kind of like the heat exchanger of a furnace. With all the communications I had with Maytag, with all the parts they set to our address for repairs & attempted fixes in and out of warranty. They never contacted us about the settlement. I just know learned about it. We have been at this same address for 20 years. Never again, Maytag or any brand that is owns Maytag as the new owners could have reached out to us.

I purchased a Maytag Bravos 500 Series HE washer. 3/2013. The machine sensor started giving problems less than 2 years after purchase. The sensor is not working. The wash lights stays on, and the clothes are not cleaned. I have to manually turn the dial to put in on the rinse cycle and then turn the dial to the spin cycle. It's a piece of junk. I called Maytag twice and the only thing the representatives on the phone say: "I will send a certified technician to see what's the problem." Price: $129.00 service call and additional costs for labor, parts, etc. Maytag had a very good reputation for its products. Will never buy anything Maytag or any products that fall under that brand.

We purchased our Maytag Bravos washer/dryer in January of 2012. In October of 2013, I noticed that the lid would not close properly. In examining the lid, we discovered that the screws were in tact but the information panel on the inside of the lid had come unglued causing the lid to be obstructed from closing properly. After calling Maytag we were told that they make a quality product and, in what I consider to be a condescending reply, could not help us. Replacement of the lid with the service call would cost almost the cost of this expensive washer. So disappointed in what we thought was a wise purchase!

Lets see... my complaints are the same as the others. I purchased the Maytag Bravos set. They were the "higher end units". At first, the machine was very quiet. I quickly had a control board go out. Got that fixed. Now the washer gets off balance on every load.... Every time it spins, it stop. The gears whine very loudly... Louder than any other machine I've ever heard. I agree with the comments on wrinkled clothes. It also does not clean heavily soiled clothes as well either. Overall, a bad decision.

I bought a Maytag Bravos from Home Depot back for around $1000 in Nov. 07. After 3 yrs, the whole tub assembly had to be replaced but I had bought a warranty so that was taken care of but it was out of service for about 2 months while I waited for parts. Now every time I use it, I get the OL on the control panel and it won't spin without getting out of control and stopping. Washers in the past have lasted me at least 15 yrs and cost less than half that much. I will never buy another Maytag ever. This is what happens when companies merge and quality is no longer important. I think the stock market ruins companies. I'm currently looking for the best quality, large capacity washer on the market. I will pay more for quality but that's what I thought last time.

The washer sounds like a jet plane, gives off fouls odors, has black tar like residue after each wash and clothes never smell clean. Maytag has no complaint process, except an online chat that tells you to buy the prepay. Maytag has dumped a lemon on consumers and arrogantly expects us to pay for their garbage. I have not had any problems with either the washer or dryer. No mold, no smell, nothing. I did laundry for 2 children and 2 adults, 6 to 8 loads per week with half being heavily soiled work clothes. I still wash 3-4 times a week. I was able to wash & dry king size blankets and comforters for the first time with this set. Washer and dryer are located on the main floor of house and are the quietest units I have ever owned. They may quit tomorrow, but they have done the job that they were designed to do. I am well satisfied with the quality and performance of both units and would not hesitate to purchase Maytag appliances again.

We bought the Maytag Washer and Dryer set about two years ago from Home Depot. We have had to have the washer repaired several times in that two years, most recently for a cracked mother board controller unit. The same day we had to have the washer repaired, we also had to have the dryer repaired. Lint and dust is not properly filtered out by the filter and accumulates inside the dryer where it should not be, up against the gas heating unit.

The repairman indicated that it was badly scorched and that we were lucky it had not caught on fire. Another customer of his had the same unit, which burst into flames one day when she had left the house with the dryer going, causing a house fire. The quality of these items is highly questionable. Having to spend nearly $600 to replace a cracked mother board only two years after purchase simply is unacceptable.

I attempted over and over just to swap out washing machines. I originally purchased a washer and dryer because of a defect in the top load they delivered. They talked me in to the frontload Neptune instead. Within months I started having daily reactions to mold and to my disgust found out it was from my washing machine. I begged to switch back to the top load I originally ordered and the store would not let me and referred me to Maytag who sent me some tablets and would help me no further.

Apparently, the Maytag repairman wasn't lonely anymore if a product had to be manufactured and ready for complaint calls. Well I used the product. I used vinegar and baking soda. I have used hot water and bleach. I have left the door open to dry...It is the most cared for item in our family and the one that makes me ill literally. I cannot afford to buy a different one and would be interested to know if my husband’s declining health issues have anything to do with our mold issue or if it is just depression...

Anyway, I was very discouraged to find out that other people in other states had washing machines replaced, but why didn't I? I would be happy if they could buy back my old Maytag that I had prior to this Neptune, I am sure it is making someone very happy somewhere. Why couldn't they have respected my very true complaint? I was not trying to get something for nothing. I paid for something to keep us cleaner and free from allergens and instead wash my clothes in mold and have mold spores leaching into the air in my home. Please help.

I have not found one feature that impresses me. Clothes do not always get clean (folds of debris). They do not spin dry enough. The cycle choices are ridiculously complicated. You can't add any clothes once the load has started. You have to wash the machine on a regular basis at about $3 per month. To get more water in the machine, you have to elect the Bulky cycle. Small amounts of bleach is so concentrated that clothing elastic is deteriorating and small holes may appear.

The clothing most often comes out of the machine like twisted up tangled donuts. The cycles take about an hour and no longer match up to the dryer time - more trips up and down per load. The cycle guide is way too complicated - Normal Heavy, Heavy Duty Regular - what's the difference? Two service calls tell me there is nothing wrong with the machine - get used to it. I would much prefer the old agitator machine.

I am not dissatisfied with hhgregg, but with Maytag products. I purchased the Maytag Centennial Top Load Washer and Maytag Centennial Dryer to match. I was a bit leery of the new "energy star" models that use "he" only type detergent, but decided that was the newest and greatest thing out, so how could it be wrong? For the past two months, I have been sooooo very disappointed in Maytag. Neither of these brand new machines are worthy of being considered brand new. The washer takes extremely too long to wash a normal load, too noisy, and has ruined several items of clothing, due to malfunctioning distribution of bleach, fabric softener released after clothes are through washing.

There has also been several times that the load wash is complete and the clothes are not even wet (like they were never involved in a wash cycle). As for the dryer, you have to run it through two 40 minutes cycles to get the load of clothes completely dry, so much for "energy-saving". This is my first complaint to anyone, but after reading several reviews on Maytag's website, I am reassured I am not alone. There are hundreds of other dissatisfied consumers of this Maytag product. I will be writing a letter to Maytag, requesting a refund.

No real problems with the dryer, HOWEVER, may with the Washer. Had the pump go out in 2/2010 to the tune of $199.20 due to a small object in the pump. The repairman said it would just take a very inexpensive part from Maytag to prevent this. In 6/2012 washer not draining, clogged pump.

All right, new to HE Washers, so told to use less detergent than detergent manufacturer recommends. $79.13 to fix clogged drain. Even though being careful with items in pockets, loose buttons, etc. AGAIN had pump go in 1/13, $214.22 (same problem cheaper in 2010, repair inflation). We'd noticed it was loud on the spin cycle (like a rocket going off) and were told at that visit the bearings would need to be replaced, and quoted approximately $280 to repair those. Haven't fixed, waiting for something else to go wrong and then decide what to do with it. So in 4 years paying almost the purchase price of the unit (if I fixed bearings also). Crazy. If you bought a house and had to pay 4/5 of the house to repair it in that short of a time, no one would own a house!!!

I purchased a Maytag Washer Bravos Quiet series 300 & a Dryer Bravos Quiet series 400 w/ steam in June 2009 from Lowe's. I can't express my dissatisfaction in strong enough language with these products. From the time they were installed there were problems.

The Bravos series 300 washer: Quiet? Never. The thing sounds like a huge motor whirring around my laundry room. Several times, a coin got stuck in the motor and created a clanking sound that had to be fixed. I've never had a washer that allowed coins to enter the motor. I can't close the lid on the washer until the whole unit is dry because of the mold problem. I don't feel the washer really gets clothes clean. When we purchased the unit, the Lowe's salesman stressed that we could fit a large bedspread into the oversized tub and get it clean. This didn't turn out to be true. The clothes tangle terribly and the unit is off-balance with any kind of a larger load. I've been forced to purchase the extended warranty because of the complete & total lack of confidence I have in this awful washer (same goes with the dryer).

The Bravos series 400 Dryer: This unit never dries. All the setting that should be used with the sensor never work which causes a huge problem. I start out on a particular setting with a stated time limit say, for instance 45 minutes. 45 minutes later, I look at the dryer and there's 1 hr of time still left to go! The dryer just runs on and on. I've taken to using only the timed dry and I start out at 1 hr, then check it every 10 minutes or so. This is very hard on the fabrics and has caused the useful life of my clothes to be greatly diminished. Also, the stupid thing will start to beep and I can't figure out why. Using this dryer has increased the electricity costs to us.

I can't stress enough to STAY away from these products. I purchased Maytag because of their prior good reputation. That reputation is in tatters now. They should recall this product and replace it with products that actually do what they advertise!

Our Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 300 is anything but quiet. Within two years of purchasing it, we now hear an F18 jet fighter taking off from our laundry room. Neighbors near and far come running to avoid getting injured when the spin cycle kicks into after burner. Seriously though, this looked to be a nice machine and operated flawlessly until a month ago when the spin cycle started sounding like a jet fighter taking off. I am "handy" and often fix appliances and things around the house. From reading reviews here on Consumer Affairs and other places, I am finding that the noise problems are more common than not. Investing $400+ into a replacement tub/bearing set would further support Whirlpool/Maytag and the sucking sound they make to get at my wallet. From what I have read, I am likely to have more problems after fixing this one (it will likely break again).

I am going to quit while I am ahead and purchase a new washer. Whirlpool/Maytag will never see my business again. It's ludicrous to have an expensive appliance like a washer only last two years. BTW, I just spent $200 to replace the control panel on my 4-year old Maytag dishwasher. A cheap and horrible design. The part probably cost $10 to make. BOHICA. (bend over, here it comes again). FYI: Whirlpool owns and sells its products under several other appliance names. Names that include, Kenmore (yes, Sears), Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Gladiator GarageWorks, Inglis, Estate, Brastemp, Bauknecht and Consul (Wikipedia source). Like a Lotto Scratcher, peel the Whirlpool or Maytag name sticker off and underneath you will find the real name... CRAP! We purchased the set from Fry's and registered it as I do all appliances. The washer has ALWAYS had issues with the weather stripping around the door or the seal gasket. Not a week went by that I was not standing on my head cleaning this stupid gasket because if I did not, it would mold and smell and - well who wants to wash their clothes in that? What would be the purpose? I contacted Fry's and they said they had received no complaints but suggested I contact Maytag.

I contacted Maytag and they stated I was the only complaint they had received. She suggested I wipe it out after use, and leave the door open to dry. Hmm sounds like an okie fix to me. So that is what I did for YEARS. Then one day when I was thoroughly fed up, I began searching on the web and found that there was a recall for this very reason! I registered my product - why weren't we contacted? We have not moved so...? Lucky me, I thought wow, I found this and there really is a problem! So I immediately contacted Maytag - and they said that I would have had to file a claim back I think in 2004 or 5. I was so angry I wrote them informing them I HAD complained and I HAD filled out the warranty registration card so why can't they fix my washer?

I was again told I was past the date they would have had to fix it. I say Bull - Why is this all on me? I filled out the stupid card, I called your CSR and complained about the smell, later found the recall and because they don't "have" to honor it, they won't. Hmmm, keep this up and that poor Maytag repairman who always had nothing to do will even have less to do because based on this experience, I can say I will not buy another of their products. I also will tell everyone who will listen. You may as well lay off that poor Maytag man. He never will have anything to fix or repair. Time for retirement, Mr. Maytag guy!

Also, I have to take the pump apart at least once a year due to the fact that sometimes, no matter how you check your pockets, change still gets left behind and they don't make a screen or filter that will keep the change out of the pump. It is not hard to do, but the first year I had it, it were in the service center as much as it was home. I was glad when someone told me what was happening because I fix it myself in like 15 minutes and move on. But it should come with a self service manual showing how to do this procedure to save people money.

I purchased by Maytag Bravo from Lowes exactly 1 year ago when the gearbox failed. There was a loud grinding sound as the washer tried to shift from wash to spin. Reading through some on-line reviews and complaints it turns out that this is not a new problem and has been known to Maytag for some time. I specifically bought a Maytag because of their prior reputation for quality. Unfortunately, my information was out of date. It is so sad that a company would compromise such an outstanding reputation.

I purchased a Maytag Bravos XL at the end of June 2013 because my washer of 14 years finally quit. On the 2nd load of laundry I ran, the machine began making a terrible grinding noise. It sounds as if I am washing a load of rocks while it's on the "wash cycle". I immediately called the local store I purchased it from and they sent a technician out to look at the machine. He couldn't figure out why it was making this noise, so he called Maytag's techs for assistance.

They had him run a battery of tests and they finally determined they needed to replace the motor. Are you kidding me? On a brand new machine?! Now I'm thinking I have a lemon for sure. They replaced the motor and the machine continues to make the same noise. I've called Maytag's Customer Service to let them know about the garbage they're producing and all I got was attitude. The warranty only covers parts and does not replace machines, so I'm stuck in the song and dance of let's try to figure this out and see how they can make this piece of junk work.

I then asked to speak to a manager. She offered me a 6 month extended warranty for free. I guess that's a big sign that I'm going to need it since what they are producing is garbage. Whatever happened to customer satisfaction? It's now just the "too bad" attitude. Now, I feel like I'm being held hostage by my machine because I have to take time off of work for appointments with service technicians. Where's Maytag's compensation for my time and the hassle of having to deal with this?

I paid $1000 for something and I guess it's too much to ask for it to actually work. I am all for buying American (the machine had a sticker, proudly made in Ohio) but if this is the quality of work that they are producing they should be embarrassed to work for this company. I will never buy a Maytag again and am making it my mission to warn others of my expensive mistake!

I have a Maytag Centennial washer & dryer put into service in August 2011. The washer has recently gotten quite noisy, so I had a repairman out to look at it. He found that the bearings are going out & estimated repair costs at $360. He actually did not recommend repair, as the repair costs approach half the price of a new washer. I am very angry about this, as this is quite a new washer & was not a cheap model. There are only 2 of us in the house, so I only wash an average of half a dozen loads a week. I never jam the tub full, basically baby the washer so it will last. Much good that has done! I'm old enough to remember when Maytag was the best in laundry appliances, expected to last for many years. I bought the Maytag because my last (top-of-the-line) Whirlpool set required a number of repairs, not realizing that Whirlpool had purchased Maytag. I will be using this washer until the bearing seize & then I will be buying a non-Whirlpool product I'm afraid that will mean a foreign brand. I really prefer to buy American, but apparently, thanks to Whirlpool, that is no longer possible!

Two days later it quit working again I had to have another repairman out and found that the gear shifter had popped off so he put it back on and charged us 85.00. Luckily my husband watched him repair it and knew what to do if it happened again, which it does just about every 2 or 3 loads so I have to pull it out and pop the ring back on.

I waste more water than I save with this machine. I have to drain the water so I can move the machine out and start all over because they didn't wash, and that wastes more soap. The washer started making rapid clicking sounds and finally the lid lock stopped working altogether. The repairman could not get his computer to even do a diagnostic. Instead he calls his boss who says it must be the motherboard, a $300 part. My research indicates that Maytag almost always says replace motherboard and customers find that doesn't work either. I've never had a washer last less than 10 years. Three years for a high-priced washer is mind boggling. I've also never had a repairman make things worse by installing new part but that happened. It washes clothes okay, but is a bit rough on them. I found that it has ripped some of my more delicate items. When I contacted Maytag, they sent me an email with contact information to purchase a maintenance contract for $395 which would cover the machine for only 1 year. My husband is very mechanical and took the washer apart thinking the seal/gasket may have come off. He cleaned up the seal and the area around it, and put the seal back on. It did not help. He also noticed that the drive shaft to the motor was beginning to RUST! This machine is only 2 1/2 years old! So, if you are noticing that your whites are getting orange spots on them, this is probably happening to your washer, as well. Maytag should step up to the plate and recall this machine.

On August 25, 2011, we purchased a Maytag washing machine (Model Number MVVYC400XW2) at the Lowe's Saugus, MA, store. Initially, we had no performance problems with it; however, on January 12, 2012, the washing machine wouldn't start. That day, I called Maytag for service on the machine, and it was fixed. Then on August 18, 2012, the same thing happened. A serviceman was called for the second time, and was repaired. Ironically, the Maytag 1- year warranty was expiring on August 24.

Prior to the expiration of the Maytag warranty, I had been contacted by mail about an extended warranty plan, which I thought was being offered by Maytag, which it wasn't. The offer was being made by Federal Warranty Service Corporation. I purchased a 5-year extended warranty, expiring on August 25, 2017, the reason to have coverage for what seems to be a faulty machine. I would probably need it.

Dealing with Federal Warranty has been nothing but grief. In 2012, the washing machine, had required 3 service calls, one with a Supervisor explaining my frustration with the number of service calls I have had made for the washing machine, but nothing has changed. Thus far in 2013, I have made two (2) additional calls for service on the same washing machine. Not only are there the numerous service calls made but the inconvenience of not having a washing machine, and the additional costs for outside laundering, during that time has to be taken into consideration. Additionally, my wife is 68 years old, and I'm 71 (72 in August). Going up and down the stairs to the basement isn't something we should be doing, especially to find an inoperable washing machine.

I purchased the matching Bravos Washer and Dryer in April 2010 at Lowes. I also purchased the extended warranty to have coverage for 4 years after purchase date. I noticed the dryer sensor is not very accurate. The purpose of the sensor is to detect when clothes are dry and then end the drying cycle automatically. However, it fails in both ways. When the dryer stops on its own, the clothes are still damp. I have the setting on NORMAL>LOW HEAT>NORMAL DRYNESS (the reason for the low heat is not to fade/shrink clothes) and even though the heat is on low, it should still keep running until the clothes are dry. So when I open the door and feel the clothes, they are still damp; I turn it back on to run again. If I don't check on it every 10 minutes, the dryer just keeps running and the clothes are bone dry. The sensor should detect this. Once, I decided to test it to see how long it would run with dry clothes and it ran for an HOUR before it shut off. Talk about a waste of electricity.

The washer also has issues. First is the SHEETS setting. This setting is supposed to prevent sheets from tangling/balling up. Every time I use the sheets setting, my washer stops with the UL error - uneven load. Meaning, I have to babysit the washer because otherwise, it will stop and wait until I pull out the sheets and loosen them up. I am only washing 1 fitted full size sheet, 2 flat full size sheets, and 4 pillow cases. The reason I bought this machine was because it is supposed to handle king size bedding. Apparently, this washer cannot even handle full size bedding and I refuse to wash each item individually - the machine is supposed to save energy, not require extra loads.

The second issue I am having, which resulted in me calling to utilize my extended warranty, is tiny rust dots on my clothes! About 3 months ago, I noticed one of my t-shirts had 4 tan spots smaller than the size of a dime. I assumed I spilled something on myself. About a month later, I noticed it was on another top. Then I assumed it was something on the back of my chair at work causing the spots. It seems to happen every couple of weeks because another article of clothing had these mysterious dots on them. Once, it appeared on my towels and sheets. I realized it was not me spilling anything on myself, nor was it from anything on my chairs. Now, I wasn't sure whether it was the washer or dryer, but I noticed when I pulled out a white sweater from the washer, there were 3 dots on it in the front, and I definitely would have noticed these before, which is how I came to the conclusion it’s from the washer.

I cannot see any rust inside of the washer basket so I don't know where it's coming from, but I am certain it is not from other articles of clothing (such as zippers or snaps); and the reason I know this is because I do not wash towels with clothes and also, I am 8 months pregnant and have been wearing maternity clothes for the past 5 months and they do NOT contain any zippers or snaps. I took pictures of the rust stains on various items and combined to 1 image. Now, I called my extended warranty to have a service technician come assess these three problems. We'll see what happens.

We purchased our Maytag dryer at Home Depot a couple of months ago. We just called Home Depot for the second time because the dryer handle broke off while opening the front load door. We called Maytag and they tell us to call Home Depot and the only thing they are willing to do again is fix the door handle which will probably break off again while I'm in the middle of laundry and can't retrieve clothes from the dryer because there isn't a handle to open it.

I'm convinced the dryer has a defective handle, and the dryer should be replaced considering what we paid for it. But Maytag or Home Depot doesn't want to do that. I will never buy Maytag products again and thinking of buying products at small appliance stores who stand behind their products, instead of Home Depot who could easily turn our dryer over to the insurance company as defective for the loss.

My clothes have never looked clean with this machine. And yes, I use very good detergents and everything else to try to help with no luck! The dryer just takes forever to dry anything. Dryer was 8 months old when it stopped spinning. It took 4 days to get the appointment correctly after rearranging three work mornings. (Service is farmed out to a local appliance company and BTW, Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool.) They will not come to service the machine without serial and model # so they know what machine they need to repair. It makes sense. So the technician comes four days later and says, "Oh, the belt burned out. I don't have one for this machine, so I have to order it." How brilliant was this? My husband knew it was the belt before the appliance guy arrived. What is the point of providing them with the serial # and model # when they arrive without machine parts? Any novice would have come with a belt. Now, we have to wait several more days for them to order it and schedule another appointment. Bottom line, forget the Maytag man. Never again!

We purchased the Maytag Atlantis used (4 years old); it looked like new. When I opened the lid, I noticed a terrible smell like some left the clothes in the washer for days. I used white vinegar, baking soda, bleach, anything to try and get rid of the smell. Nothing worked. Finally, my husband took out the agitator and then the drum. Inside and around the drum was lint from all the years of washing clothes. He scraped it all off and bleached it and put it back together and it was okay for a while. It now smells again and I am afraid we will have to keep doing this or our clothes will always smell. I also leave the lid open after a wash so I'm not attacked by the smell when we open it. I also had the Maytag Neptune front loader years ago, and the water pooled by the gasket on the door. That smelled too! We will be redoing our laundry area soon and will be shopping for a new washer and dryer. It will not be a Maytag!

Five months later, the wash machine needed a new gear case because it was making this horrible loud noise when it was washing and spinning. The service guy came over and replaced this part. Now, the washer does not want to spin. The clothes are soaked, and I have to stand there and manually turn the knob to spin it; and it still doesn't spin right. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with a washing machine, and I regret ever buying this Maytag. They should recall this series of washers because there is something really wrong when you have to have it repaired twice, and it is not even a year old!

I have had trouble since I bought the Maytag Bravo washer. It first started out with the motherboard putting up crazy numbers. It took 2 different motherboards before that problem was fixed. Then it started with not wanting to drain; that was caused from the washer machine sucking up small clothes items in the drain plug. I had to call the Maytag repairman 4 times until I was told I had to put the small items in a laundry bag for this to stop. Now it is going off level on every wash, even when it has only 2 pieces of clothes in the machine. I am about ready to throw it out. Btw, all of my appliances are Maytag and I will never buy another Maytag appliance again or I will never recommend a Maytag to anyone.

I kept getting the UL error code. I called a certified appliance person to come out to find out what was wrong. I do not believe any of the appliance people know what to do for these machines.

First, I was told it was the control board that needed to be replaced, then I was told the motor had a crack in it and it needed to be replaced, and then the springs needed to be replaced. So they replaced the springs. This was a Tuesday afternoon. It worked fine until Wednesday of the next week and I started getting the F51 code. Just let me say if you cannot stand behind your parts on a $1,100 washer that is only two years old, then something is very wrong. I am in for $159 on repairs so far. Who knows what the cost will be to finally get the machine repaired.

I purchased my Bravos washer and dryer in about July of 2012. So far I have no complaints about the dryer but I hate the washing machine as do two friends of mine. My husband specifically wanted something energy efficient which is why we didn't purchase the basic traditional style washer we've always used. From the first time I used the washer, I was amazed and disappointed at the noise level. Because the lid is glass, I could observe the water level during each part of the laundry cycle. The water did not cover the laundry in the washer.

When I mentioned this to one of my friends, she said that she has to wash some of her clothes twice. How is this energy efficient? I finally figured out that using the heavy duty wash cycle and heavy soil setting usually results in more water but requires an hour to wash and rinse the clothes. The downside is that the heavy duty cycle is too hard on some of my more delicate items so I have to hand wash many more clothes than I did with my old style washer that allowed me to select the water level I wanted.

Most recently, when I washed a bulky mattress pad with a few other items, the water level never covered the pad because the load of laundry was so lightweight. At the end of the cycle, parts of the mattress pad were bone dry so I will have to take it to the laundromat if I cannot make the washing machine fill up with water high enough to cover the mattress pad. I don't want to spend the amount of time hand washing so much of my clothing, monitoring the water level in the washing machine and rewashing loads of laundry. After reading many of these comments, it appears that I have many more issues to look forward to. When this washer starts to break down, I will go back to an old style machine and a different brand.

Sounds wonderful. That's what I thought when I let my son have my 20-year-old, still running older washer. I wanted a new one. It worked good for 3 years and then one night I went to throw the clothes in the dryer and it's full of water. After the last rinse and spin, it filled again and stopped. So I tried it on every cycle and got the same results. I thought, "No problem. We have a great, honest repairman. I'll call him the next day and he'll fix it." When I called and told him what type of washer it was, he was surprised it was working at all. Seems they had a problem with water leaking into the transmission. Apparently, I was lucky that mine had worked for as long as it did. Like I said, I'm lucky to have an honest repairman.

He told me he could charge me to put in a new timer and solve that problem, but I shouldn't waste my money since it is just a matter of time before it goes bad. Seems they were all bad and Maytag never made good on them. Told me the smartest thing to do would just to go ahead, bite the bullet and get another. It will be here Tuesday morning. Hopefully, this will be the last one I have to buy (keeping my fingers crossed since I had hoped the Maytag was going to be the last). My old machine is still running great for my son. Over 30 years my repairman has had to fix quite a few things for me - ice makers, dishwashers and even a timer on my old washer. Thank goodness he was honest enough to not fix my washer.

I don't know if there are even any Maytag products around now, but if there are, they will never get my business. I spent a fortune on a machine that should have lasted the rest of my life. I've had child's toys that lasted longer. My advice is do not buy Maytag.

Now we are having issues with the lid lock not allowing you to get to the clothes. This machine tries to spin three times and then locks up. It literally locks the lid and will not allow you to get to your clothes! For a machine to fail just four months out of warranty is a joke! After investigating the problems with the machine, it will cost us more to repair than what we originally paid for the washer in the first place. Give me a break! There should be a recall and Maytag should have their feet held to the fire to replace these "less than adequate" high-dollar machines!

Every now and then, one of us leaves a coin in the pocket by mistake. I did purchase the extended warranty on the set. The repairperson that comes to my house is great. I would, however, not want to have to keep leaving work to meet repairmen. The machines are not quiet. If you need quiet from your appliances, this is not the set for you. If you do not clean the washer with Affresh or Clorox product, your clothes and your room smells. The clothes are always so tangled after washing; they tend to wear out quickly. Second, it's not even over 2 years old and the main bearing is going out, a $200 fix. This cost way too much for it to die this soon. Their customer service lacks, to say the least. I can only suggest not buying from Maytag or Whirlpool as they are not willing to step up and cover what is just a plain shabby product. Bye bye, Maytag. May you go belly up like your machine.

When the wash goes into spin cycle, it makes a loud clicking noise and takes a few minutes to start spinning. I called service repair and he told me that it was the ball bearing and to talk with them as he has dealt with quite a few high end machines from Maytag that are breaking down after warranty. I should have realized there was a problem when we kept coming up with white spots on our clean laundry and would have to re-rinse clean clothes. This kind of defeats the water saver that is advertised with the machine.

Do not buy this product. For a high end washer and dryer, there are many problems. Maybe that is why the Maytag guy is not shown sleeping in commercials any longer. He's too busy fixing all these machines. Btw, they won't cover the part even though I offered to pay for the service. The best they can do is give me 25% off. Yippee! Even though I use the HE detergent and I've even cut down the amount with no results, it leaves gobs of soap/lint residue on most of my darks and I wind up having to either rewash on clear or rinse by hand to get rid of the stuff.

I've also noticed some snagging on some brand new towels, but I attributed that to possibly the brand. Well, then I had an issue with some very expensive bottom sheets shredding and raveling and still didn't catch on. Today I noticed a different towel with similar problems, which led me here and walah! I see I'm not the only one having these issues… Darn! Warranty is expired and I'm stuck!

The delicate cycle hardly works... that started after about a year. It just freezes up and stops. I have to open and close it. The dryer knob does not work properly. I set my setting and pull the knob out, and it doesn't come on. I have to do it several times or change the setting or put it on 30 minutes only... very frustrating! I never had these problems with my Kenmores! I wish I did not switch brands. Magtag Bravos Washer top load Model MVWX700XW1 - I purchased my washer in June 2011 with the understanding that this was the best washer for my money and needs. I have family of 4, and laundry is a continual cycle at our home. I had the washer delivered and installed by the store where it was purchased. I was pleased with the machine even though the clothes were extremely wrinkled after each cycle, but the salesman was kind enough to tell me this would be so. 21 months into use, I had a water leak from the internal cold water valve. It’s not covered by warranty; I had the valve replaced.

Within 2 weeks, the machine would not spin out the clothes; if it did, they were still wet, or would stop mid-spin cycle and start rinsing again. It took 2 hours to wash a 37 minute hand washables load this past Saturday, 4/6/2013, not to mention the other 4 hours washing to regular loads just to get the machine to rinse and spin. The service technician has spent the past 2 days at my home trying to repair my machine to tell me today that it is not the lid lock, but the master control panel which is still not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. To say the least, I now have to purchase a new washer as I have invested $250.00 for a valve and the control panel is $275.55 plus labor.

This machine is the biggest waste of money that I have ever spent. I have been a loyal Whirlpool customer having owned two other Whirlpool machines, each lasting 17-18 years each. I do not abuse my appliances, overload or in any other manner try to destroy a machine for personal gain. I do, however, feel that Whirlpool/Maytag needs to recall these washers or cover the parts beyond what is written. I have read numerous accounts of these and similar issues by others, yet the company will not stand behind their appliances. Really!

Labor costs would cost between $350 - $500.00. This is without the initial service call and diagnosis cost between $100 - $125.00. The determined parts list cost would be $700 - 50% for Whirlpool internal cost + shipping be approximately $425.00. This is more than the cost of a new unit or the value of three-year depreciation value of the existing unit. This does not make any financial sense. Whirlpool should provide a new replacement unit at their costs.

It has been three months and with no successful outcome. Also, via web research, there are many complaints about Maytag/Whirlpool and I am not the first in regards to rust issue. Therefore, Whirlpool is attempting to limit their financial exposure by only offering parts that they have to agree upon because the labor costs will not support this additional investment in a three-year unit.
