I was impressed with the customer service. I do have one problem. I sent an e-mail last week asking how long do I have to return 2 unused boxes of flooring. I have not received a reply. I would like to know how long I have to return the unused boxes. I can't find my order number. My delivery document is **, BW Maple 3/4x2 - 1/4", 21 boxes, Car # 1,211.71 lb.

We're constantly renovating and we've made several purchases at Lumber Liquidators over the course of many years. We've always been happy with what we purchased. They offer a good value for the products that they sell. Their sales rep has helped us over many visits where I was shopping for either deals or interesting products. They're always pleasant, very honest, and don't mind answering questions, so I appreciate that. They're also friendly, cooperative, and confident. I would recommend them.

Salesman was knowledgeable and helpful. The flooring we bought was as odd lot closeout special of Maple Bellawood. There were damaged pieces but the closeout was an excellent price and we bought more than needed because of the good price. We did it ourselves with no real experience in this type of floors. It fit and cut well. It looks great on the first room. Will take a break before doing the second room.

I was so glad to have found this store after my flooring order fell through at another store. The flooring was the wrong size and I was pressed for time. I got excellent advice, service and help from the sales guy. I forget his name. I got the new engineered bamboo flooring. It is tough and the adhesive is very good. My contractor wished he knew about it before he did his own flooring. It costs more but so worth it.

I needed to match up some old flooring when I added a little section and I was able to get a pretty good match at Lumber Liquidators. Everything went smoothly with them. They helped me pick it out and a week later, I have the flooring which I am satisfied with. I had a good experience and I'd recommend them to a friend.

My troubles with an initial order of hardwood flooring were solved quickly by contacting the "Customer Care" office at the L.L. Headquarters. After that, my second order of hardwood flooring went seamlessly. The staff at local stores do not know what to do with building permits that exempt the purchaser from local tax. You have to contact HQ to get a straight answer but they follow through completely. Also, prices are good if you shop the sales.
Original Review: Jan. 9, 2017
Although I am satisfied with the price of the flooring, the Longmont Store manager overcharged us sales tax. When I made this purchase in November, I gave him a copy of the building permit which states that I do not have to pay local sales tax and he promised me he would resolve this with the HQ office and refund the overcharge. I called him several times to remind him and he said he was "working on it". He now no longer works for L.L. To make matters worse, another employee, Tony, tried to convince me that I had only been charged FEDERAL tax. Of course, I told Tony there is no such thing as a federal sales tax and made him give me the number of the Customer Service staff to resolve this. Tonya was very helpful on the phone.

I bought and paid for 58.5 sq. feet of SELECT red oak 3/4 X 2 1/4" flooring. When I got home I noticed it said Common #2 on the labels at the end of each bundle. So I went back to the store to show them the mistake. Other than giving me the difference in price refund I received no apology at all. I got the strong feeling the product switch was intentional.

My floor looks great and my wife was super happy with her Christmas present! My 14 year old son turned into a champ floor nailer, and he pretty much finished the thing all by himself. It's easy to clean, and its a huge improvement from that crappy linoleum floor. I'll be back when I have enough money to move into the living room with more hardwood.

I ordered some flooring May 24, 2015. I paid the amount I was told by the Sales Associate to pay. The Sales Associate checked and re-checked my order to make sure all was correct. I left the store content with my purchase. A few minutes later the Sales Associate called to tell me that she made an error and that they will charge my credit card an additional amount. Well, you guess it, I was not happy about this experience. I had no choice, but to concede and have her charge my credit card the extra dollar amount. If Lumber Liquidators made a final sale and allowed me to leave the store, they should honor the contractual price and not call me back requesting additional money. Now, do I, as customer, have any recourse, I ask myself?

I've purchased from Lumber Liquidators six years ago and recently, I bought 614 square foot of Bellawood, the 100-year guarantee hardwood, three quarter inch oak. Their sales reps have been helpful and knowledgeable. They told me the difference between some of the different products so I was happy with the way everything went. The salesman gave the rate and helped me go through the two products that I had picked out and told me which one was the better deal. The whole process went smoothly. I would need help to get online and register the warranty on it, but other than that, I'm very happy with it.
The stuff I bought has excellent quality and I bought it on sale, so it was a good buy. And out of all that I had there, I had only six running feet of wood that I couldn’t use because it had a couple of cracks, so I’m not complaining about it. The store I bought it from was quite a ways away, but when I returned the two cases that I didn’t use, they took it at the store closer to the house, so I didn’t have to go all the way out there. They worked with me pretty well. One of my nephews installed it for a closet and a 24 x 26 foot living room and it went down very easily. I'd recommend it.

I bought a product from Lumber Liquidators last year and I did majority of my house. This year I decided to extend it to a couple of other rooms so I went back there. I wasn’t expecting it was going to be a different color because it was going to be a different dye lot from what I bought last year. It was the same product but when I bought the six boxes I needed, and took them home, they were garbage. Half of them weren’t sprayed properly and weren't even the color. The texture was wrong like they weren’t even the same finish. My team that came in and opened up a box and couldn’t do anything. They had to leave and come back another day.
I called Lumber Liquidators and they came back. I had two guys open up box by box so we could go through this product to find what I could use. I still have another room and this weekend I’m going back there and they’re going to go through it with me, hopefully, so I can go through the pallet that they have and pick out ten more boxes that I need because I’m thinking down the road I’m going to have a problem getting this product again when I do my next renovation. Overall I was satisfied with Lumber Liquidators but their head office needs to deal with the company that they’re getting the supply from.

I purchased 900 sqft of New England pine through the customer service sales number and spoke with Hayley. I asked the difference in cost to have it delivered to my house. Hayley told me my flooring was in Bellevue (3.5 hours away from my location). It cost $260 to have it delivered and I also had to do a direct deposit through my checking account to pay for all of the material 100% up front.
I asked Hayley when my material would be delivered. She said she would have a firm date as soon as the order went through. My order went through. I had no delivery date. I emailed Hayley. Didn't hear back. 2 days go by she emails me a tracking number for some carrier. I track it for two days. It just says "in transit." I was told Through email that it should arrive by the end of the week as it's shipping on Tuesday. It's been a full week now. My flooring hasn't showed up. Homeowner isn't happy about the delay and neither am I. When I explained this to Hayley she told me my material was in transit. After emails and phone conversations Hayley calls me to inform me they sent my material from WA to OR to send it back to WA again.
I was told my material would be here by now. I am still waiting. Lumber Liquidators just handed off the delivery to someone else and now they have no responsibility over it apparently. Meanwhile my account was charged $2,000 instantly. It's amazing I spent $260 to have it shipped to Oregon. I wonder how much it would of cost to have it shipped to my house... 3.5 hours via highway from the department store where it was. As a general contractor this was my first time dealing with lumber liquidators. I will not order through them again just given the fact that they have no care to help now that they've placed my material on a third party delivery truck. I was told by Hayley delivery wouldn't be a problem which is why I did it. Terrible way of operating.

I went to Lumber Liquidators, talked to two people there, purchased Gunstock Oak hardwood floors for my house, and made arrangements for my contractor to pick them up. It's cheaper at Lumber Liquidators than some of the other places around here. I got the 99-cent laminate there before but it wasn't good. It bubbled and warped when I put it down. My recent experience was good, though and my contractor installed the flooring.

Service at the store was good. But the installation service I purchased from Lumber Liquidators was poor. They installed a portion of my bedroom incorrectly. After hesitation, they agreed to come back out and repair the section of the hardwood. However, they asked me to go get material for them to do the repair and then left the job incomplete by not finishing the baseboard. The installers asked me to finish caulking the baseboard by myself. I found this unprofessional to ask a customer to finish a job I paid a premium to have done. I paid for the hardwood and baseboard installation.
UPDATED ON 03/09/2017: February 13th - they come back out to fix another area of the hardwood. When they came back to do the repair, they didn't have the right tools or materials. They tried to do the repair with the wrong tools and cheap glue - glue that the store said wouldn't work. The floor looks worse than before. March 3rd - they come back out again. Same experience. Poor job done. The contractor leaves dings, scratches and cracked hardwood.

Cameron, the store manager at Santa Clarita worked closely with me to get exactly what I needed. He was welcoming and helpful in the store. The product I ordered was on clearance; to get the quantity I needed that meant Cameron had to get it from multiple locations and have it shipped to my home. He followed up by phone to let me know that all items from all locations were shipped. When one shipment was delayed, he went out of his way to find out why (weather) and to assure me that it was, in fact, coming. The floor itself, which is click-lock cork, came in excellent condition. They sold me an adhesive and sealant by Bostik for concrete flooring and sales person warranted that no moisture would penetrate the bamboo. Few months later after installation brought to my attention that flooring was cupping. I reported and was told by LLI that I should have had a moisture test for any warranty to take effect. Many areas throughout my floor have hollow sounds when you walk over it. I also have a plank that clicks when you step on it. The transition on the doors were not installed properly and they utilize long nails on the new baseboards. The long nails scratches the pocket door that leads to my bathroom now. I'm concerned that I may have issues in the future as the floor may want to expand in areas where there was inadequate glue placed. We went to the store on Glisan to order our flooring materials. The initial purchase went fine except that I had asked for quarter round and it was never added to my order. The floor was in stock so we picked up a few boxes on the spot but the rest we had to come back for. I called the store the same day we purchased and told them I would be back the next day early afternoon to pick up more of the order. I got there and was told they had no power and would not release my order to me and that I should have called to see if they had power (how would I know this?). I asked if I could just sign my receipt for the boxes since the day prior nobody even confirmed or had me sign for how many I took. My response from the manager was very rude and told me no. He eventually said "It’s your lucky day. I will allow you to just sign for the boxes you take.” Several trips later we get our material.
The manager was rude to us and made nasty comments about me to his coworker. We realized the manager never got us the quarter round so we go back to the store 2 weeks later and find out it needs to be ordered but it took over an hour just for the guy to even figure out how to place the order. He kept leaving to help others during our transaction. He said he was new and didn't know how to order and the other guy in the store would finish the order but this never happened and we waited for another 30 minutes while our sales guy just left us standing there while he went to help others. The manager of the store is not knowledgeable about floors and in fact was giving incorrect information. The store is run so poor that I would never return to that location ever. I am still waiting for the quarter round that has not arrived yet to my house. What a nightmare this place was!!!

My home kitchen and utility rooms had linoleum on it and it was all tearing and getting bad so I bought some manufactured hardwood from Lumber Liquidators. The reps were very accommodating, and answered all my questions. When I got there the sales person showed me several different items and he knew I was wanting something inexpensive out of pocket. I was really pleased with the cost because I thought I would be getting laminate floor which wasn't my first choice but I couldn't afford something more. And this was a discontinued item and they had seven boxes left. It was very inexpensive so the sales person really helped out by getting the better quality as far as price-wise for a less expensive price. Then he told me what other things I may need to put it down.
A pastor friend of mine over in Arizona did the installation, he is a very meticulous person and he said it was really easy for him to do, but we had a number of odd corners and circles, especially in the utility room. Also, I really appreciated going over there and getting the product and being able to take it home right away. And I've already recommended Lumber Liquidators to a couple of people.

Lumber Liquidators provided a product and when it was installed, we realized that there were only short boards and I had many boxes like that when I was supposed to receive wood close to five feet long. It was my first time doing wood floors. I was unaware of how to mitigate a problem right then and there when it's happening. When I reported it, they told me, "Well the sales staff who sold you the product, they can tell you whatever they want. But you signed the documents." I'm like, "Okay, you can't just say they can tell you whatever they want with the sale when they're representing that contract." So that's misleading to a contract and now there's an issue.
I was irate on the phone and felt bad. I said, "When you're talking about thousands of dollars as someone's purchase and you're telling me that someone could tell you whatever they want when there's a serious problem, that's when you're gonna find someone absolutely pissed off." I could have taken it legally but I didn't. At the end of the day, the sales staff was very good but I prefer to have honest service. But I think they were only doing their job. When there is a problem, corporate tried to figure out a way to mitigate for themselves. They were able to offer me something to make things work as best as possible. I got $500 back but I had over $1500 in problems. We had to rip out and re-do the wood floors but it ended up working out in the end. Ultimately, I'm happy with what happened. They did what was right as best as they could with whatever resources they could and the problem is solved.
If we didn't have this problem, I would say great sales, great delivery, great everything. It's pre-finished floor and I'm happy with the pricing. But I don't think I'll use them again. The project was something that we did last winter and should have been done in April of last year but it was not. It definitely was a pain especially when I'm spending money. But it's been solved and we're happy with how it worked out. And now, we're enjoying our floors.

I'm a remodeler so I do quite a bit of flooring and I recently purchased a lot of flooring and accessories for molding from Lumber Liquidators. My sales rep is in the commercial side out of Virginia and she is absolutely wonderful. I can call her and tell her what I need and it's never a big issue. She gets the paperwork done and she gets my order put in. She tells me it's going to be somewhere at a certain time and it's there. The quality of the flooring has been good. In fact, its cost is in line with its quality. I installed the flooring myself. The flooring that I've been using is a lock install bamboo and it's the easiest floor I ever had to put in.
Overall, it's been an awesome experience. They're always great. They know I’m in the business and I can call them I'm coming by to pick up items and when I get there, they have it ready and all I do is pull up and they’ll load me up and get me out of there. And if I do have a problem, they're always right there and they take care of it immediately.

The sales reps at Lumber Liquidators were all very helpful and I was surprised at the amount of inventory they had for a smaller store. I had gone to another warehouse store and they didn’t have at all what I needed. The only snag that we ran into was we had to drive a few hours to pick up the flooring because it wasn’t available in the store that we needed it. I called to confirm that the order was ready and that all the boxes hat I had ordered were there, then about 15 minutes before I got to the store, they told me that they were short two boxes. They got the flooring shipped out to the store closer to me so I could pick it up there. The problem with that is with wood, I want it to sit in the house a couple of weeks prior to putting it in. But everything worked out fine and they were very professional.
We purchased Patagonian Rosewood flooring from Lumber Liquidators and it was a different color than the sample in the showroom. We expected it to be a lot darker and it was quite light with a lot of stripes on it, but from what I understand, that is the type of wood that we got and it's supposed to darken over time. The installer was great and I would recommend him.

The bamboo was pretty but I felt regrets during the first day of install. Even though it was glued down the floor made noises like pops and squeaks when we walked on the crack between 2 boards. It took over 1 year later, following up with customer service almost weekly, to get the floor replaced with oak. I'm in love with my dark oak floors. I should have selected them in the first place. Do your research and be 100% sure you want bamboo. I think a floating bamboo floor might be okay but do not glue it down to a concrete slab, based on my experience.

The sales rep from Lumber Liquidators was good. We were looking at a couple of different floors as they were done with all sorts of styles, and he explained how they were going to hold up, so that we could pick which one we liked. The floor quality is good, so far. There were a number of boards sold that we did tongue and groove at 3/4-inch oak. However, there was a number of miscuts where the tongues were missing or messed up, and it was the same with the grooves. Also, there were a number of boards that had black streaks on them that almost looked like grease streaks. There was a good percentage that we threw out because of that, or cut up when we didn't need to--four percent shipped and not usable. The product was good, and reasonably priced. However, quality check should have caught these boards. Those are ones that shouldn't have been packed.
I installed the flooring myself, and it was easy to work with. There were a few warped boards, but I didn't throw them out. However, I was very surprised that there were no installation instructions. That was very disappointing. I expected a copy in every box, or pre-printed on the side. I found myself looking through YouTube. There were no cleaning instructions at all, too. That should be on or inside the box as well. And then my threshold, which I ordered to go down the stairs, arrived almost a month after my floor. I had to call three times until they finally said they've got one at a different store, which they said they will send out on that day or the next. On the other hand, I really like the wood and I'm not an unhappy customer by any stretch. I'd recommend Lumber Liquidators, but with a caveat.

I didn't have a very good experience at all with Lumber Liquidators. I recently purchased their porcelain tile. We were updating our cabinets and doing a semi-remodel. Samantha was the store manager of the Flooring Liquidators store in Chula Vista which 3 blocks away from my house. The prices were very low yet, the product was really impressive. The quality of the flooring was great. Their flyer also said that they do installation and that it'd feel comfortable for them installing. I scheduled someone to go to my home to just give me a quote. But then I received the email saying that they don't serve my area. I find it puzzling when they have a store in that Chula Vista area and yet there was no one to install my flooring. So I got someone else to install it.
My husband went to go pick the flooring up in the back's loading dock, and on that same pallet was exactly the same amount of flooring that the store manager told us that we were short. We went back in the store and the store manager told me it was for another customer that they were supposed to be picking it up by that afternoon, as well. However, we were first there and we had the most flooring of that order. She was not very cooperative with us. She sent us to Miramar to pick up our flooring and she compensated us just for our gas.
Just then, Samantha said they will do the flooring so I agreed with her and fired that one was going to originally install my flooring. But in the long run they called me or emailed me and said, "Oh, we're not serving your area." Also, their brochure says "Convenient one-stop solution. Quality Flooring," and "Delivery and Professional Installation." But they never gave me an option of delivery. They weren't a one-stop solution. I had to stop from my day on a Saturday and go all the way down on Miramar to pick another pallet of flooring. It wasn't convenient for me at all. I've already complained maybe to 30 people already because I was so dissatisfied with the store. I actually wrote a letter to a manager whom and I'm going to call her back again. She's never respond to my emails. They've never called me to acknowledge my letter that I wrote them.

We live in Oklahoma and most of the homes are on slabs. We had a pipe burst in the slab and there was no basement to access so we had to chop a hole in that slab to get down to the pipe to fix it. That put us in the position of needing to put a new floor in that room. I went to Lumber Liquidators' location on South MacArthur Street and I dealt with two different people. Chris was the first gentleman who helped me and he did a really good job. He explained the different engineered floors to me and what their attributes were. We wound up picking a particular Chestnut Oak flooring for our family room. I brought the measurements and that helped me calculate the flooring I needed. Everybody did a great job.
The only thing was I wrote a check and bought the flooring. I've also purchased the Seal-N-Grip Bostik glue for it. When they shipped it in, I got my three pails of glue but one pail contained dried up glue. It was 8:45 in the evening. When the contractor was trying to finish up, we were short of glue. I had to dash around at the last minute and go to Lowe's and buy some different type of glue because they didn't have the Bostik to finish the job up. The next day, I took a can of the dried up glue back to the Lumber Liquidators store to get reimbursed. I had to go through the system where they're going to write me a check in three to five weeks. I received the vent covers relatively fast but they showed up just wrapped in shipping saran wrap only, no protection.
Once I unwrapped them they were completely damaged. I called the store and they told me that I could return them to the Nashua store because it was more local to me. They also said that they would locate and ship to me undamaged ones. I received the shipment a little slower then the first time and this time around they shipped three vent covers, two of them were the same and the last one was different. The two that are the same have small openings for the air to come out and will create a loud airflow noise. The other one that got shipped was the one I was interested in.
I drove back to the Woburn store to explain the issue and one of the managers told me he would tell his manager and take care of it. He told me that they would return and credit me but the issue is that it has put a hold on my flooring project, no one contacted me for six days to give me an update and when I was asked him about the refund of the shipping cost he gave me a story about how they don't usually refund the shipping cost because it costs them but didn't take into consideration the two trips I had to take to try and get the correct product I purchased, the multiple times calling the store and waiting for someone to pick up the phone and the inconvenience of holding up the project.

I purchased stair tops and natural wood for the landings. We told the lady at the front we needed wood for the landings. She gave a cost and I paid for it. Never once said it was second hand material. I don't ever like to buy second hand material because you ALWAYS HAVE ISSUES. When we fit the material it was bundled up so of course you can't break it apart at the warehouse. The material was not opened for a couple weeks since we were not ready for the stairs yet.
When we were ready we open up the bundles and it was very poor quality. Lots of holes and knots in the wood. For sure the material could not be used especially in a small area. No room for cuts. We did not open up the second bundle for the reason that the first bundle was really bad quality and thought it would be the same. We went back to the store with the open bundle and showed the guy at the front the bundle. He said "you should have known you purchased secondhand material, and since you opened the bundle we cannot take it back or exchange it for better quality material." I could not believe it. I told him that no one ever told me it was secondhand and if they had told me it was secondhand I would not have purchased it.
My question is how am I supposed to know that it is secondhand when no one mentions it and the bundle is bundled up. There is no way of knowing until you open that bundle. He would not budge and acted as though he did not care and I should have known. So the material I bought there was a waste and I had to eat it. What a waste of time and money. Great Product. I bought unfinished utility grade Oak, 99 cents per square foot and I had quite a bit of waste which is what was advised in the description. I used this product to build the top of a work bench and was quite picky about the boards I kept. Overall very satisfied and it resulted in a really nice bench.

The process of dealing with LL's HSS was a bit rocky, people not showing up or calling, no response when I wrote, no follow up when I called. The flooring itself is pretty but it's of a different quality than the last time I ordered it. It doesn't feel as "cushy" as when I purchased it 4 years ago. Kyle and company did a great job but they could've handled some of the corners better. I didn't notice the gaps at corners until after the job was complete. But they were friendly and fast. Overall, it looks really great!

When I go back if she is not working I will not be getting anything. The two boys that worked there was too busy talking to their friends to help with anything at all even when we loaded my truck. They just stood and watched a old man and a very small young women do all the work. If I was the boss they would not be there anymore.

While I love the flooring that I purchased, the customer service at pickup was awful. I have bought large things at many other hardware stores and they have always helped me with loading and tying down. They do reiterate that they aren't responsible if something happens. At the Lumber Liquidators Store that I picked up in, the associate dropped the flooring in my truck with the lift and said, "Have a nice day." I had straps and tie downs, that I didn't know how to use. It was my 10-year-old son and myself (a female). He came back to sign and when I asked for help with the tie downs, I was told he wasn't allowed and he went back in the store and left me.
Now I understand policy is policy but a little customer service goes a long way. Just a little guidance with the straps would have been nice and I would have done the actual work. Needless to say, this was a tiny foyer area that I was completing. I am now working on a 1200 sq ft area and will be going to Lowe's or Home Depot where I have always had great service!

I recently bought engineered hardwood flooring from Lumber Liquidators. Actually, I've been through the whole house with their products. I did my living room and hallway with their flooring. In one bedroom, we glued down three inch hardwood, and in the remaining two bedrooms, I did engineered hardwood. All these with flooring purchased from Empire. I decided to update the flooring because I had glue down, engineered flooring in, and it was getting pretty weathered, and it was time to replace it. So, I took all that out since I didn't like carpets in the house either.
The sales reps explained and went through pretty good all about the products and the warranty, and the different brands that I had to pick from. But I already knew what I wanted when I went into the store. I like the quality of the flooring that I got. Everybody pays compliments whenever they come in. The first thing you see when you open the door is the hardwood floor. It catches your eye. It looks good because my furniture matches up well with the color of the floor.
I put the flooring in myself and it was really easy to put down. The glue down was harder to work with because of the three inch boards. They don't make it anymore in cherry. I noticed that the long cuts had a little bit of a warp to them, and it was kind of hard to keep the gaps out of them. But as far as the engineering, the lock and the groove, that was the easiest to put down, and that's what I'd recommend to anybody to put down. In fact, I wish I had put that down throughout the whole house. Overall, I like the experience that I've had with Empire, and I have nothing negative to say about it at all.

We were installing a hardwood floor in our new pantry. It's not a big room but we wanted to put the finished oak in it. So I purchased a box of pre-finished two and a quarter inch wide oak flooring from Lumber Liquidator. Our contractor installed it and it looks perfectly good. When I came in their store, I told their sales rep what I wanted and they showed me some alternate options. We picked the middle-grade flooring because it's going into a pantry and didn't need the most expensive or the least expensive flooring. We also picked the color that we wanted. My whole interaction with their salesperson took less than four minutes. Then he told me to drive around the back of the building and the guy came out and loaded it in the back of the car.
I've done a lot of work in houses, especially my house, over the years including installing a lot of floors. So it was only a matter of picking with a very narrow range of what product I want because I've already conceptualized what I need in my head. They sold me the product I needed as quick and painlessly as possible. It was so painless that my charming wife didn't even need to get out of the car and come into their store.

They were really helpful.
We did the installation ourselves with the help of a friend that used to do it as a business. Our friend showed us how to get the flooring lined up. Once we got the hang of it, we took it from there. It was pretty easy. We just finished putting down the last part of the flooring and so far, we really like it. We're gonna do another room and a hallway probably after the holidays and finish out. We purchased this flooring based on the salesperson telling myself and my husband that the floor would not scratch. We have German Shepherd and we were concerned, as I had done research prior and everything I read stated it would scratch. The salesperson showed both myself and my husband how it would not scratch by taking a piece of the flooring and a large rock and rubbing and knocking the rock back and forth to prove to us, it would not scratch. He also told us he had the same kind of dog and flooring and he did not have any scratches on his floor. Based on this we went ahead and purchased the flooring.
Two weeks after the install, there were noticeable scratches. I went into the store, told the manager but was basically ignored, asked if there was a filler or something I could buy and was told no. Based on being sold something that turned out not to be what we were told we would be getting, I am extremely dissatisfied and cannot recommend Lumber Liquidators to anyone. We arrived asking for unfinished seconds on your hardwood flooring not knowing there is a difference between seconds and utility grade flooring. Most likely because we are not in the business of laying floors and the products you sell. The gentleman behind the counter sold us 900 feet of utility grade flooring. We struggled with the first 20 bundles or so trying to find pieces that would be good enough to fit together and once filled in and sanded, the completed project would look nice. We were not in any way under the impression that we would receive the best wood but we certainly didn't know we were getting utility grade or should I say pieces that should be in a landfill somewhere until we finally went through 3 bundles and found very very very little that was usable. And I'm not a picky person!
Then we saw on the back was stamped 3rd and 4ths. It was pitiful. I called and told the man I felt cheated to which he kept repeating over and over "I told you utility grade wasn't very good." But if someone asks for seconds how can he not tell us the difference between seconds and utility grade because there is a huge difference!!! He said "I tried to tell you" but never once in the store did he state the difference. We thought we were buying seconds and he must have heard utility I guess.
Although he did tell us the difference when I called back angry as all get out. He did hold his tongue which I do have to say I probably wouldn't have done as well but his attitude was an "I told you so and just what do you think I should do. I can't do anymore than 10 cents cheaper than what you paid." You know all I guess I wanted was someone who when asked, would take the time to maybe bring a piece out and say "hey this is seconds and this is utility" before the purchase and not after the purchase! I'm done... I will go back to Home Depot where I belong.

Michelle, (customer service rep at Lumber Liquidators) I was present - at home - on day 1 when your installers showed up! I was here all day, I was working from my home office. The installers spent most of the day prepping the floor and steps. Later in the afternoon, 1 of the installers started on the steps. I Told him that did not look right and he kept on working. As you can see in the pictures they only did a couple steps. On day 2 my wife was home when the installers arrived. She told them do not do any more on the steps, as it was the wrong wood and they tried to tell her that is the way it's done nowadays - as if we came from the stone age?? So the installers moved to the bath and bedroom and started in the closet. Using my wood I had left over from doing the other part of our house. So things were matching at that point using my wood.
Then the installers started using Lumber Liquidators' WRONG wood. My wife call me and said the Lumber Liquidators' wood is terribly wrong and the wood doesn't come close to what we picked out. Your Installers gave us the same song and dance story that wood will vary - blah blah blah. We told them the wood is not what we picked out and no need to come back till the correct wood is delivered. They agreed and have not heard from them since. This is totally a botched job from Lumber Liquidators, and we want it corrected.
We have a family member's wedding coming up in October, which was the reason we chose Lumber Liquidators to work with us getting the wood floors in. This has been a nightmare! So your email you sent today is completely WRONG and we want our money returned and we have another wood floor provider that will do what we ask and in a timely manner. I bought Acacia hardwood floor from Lumber Liquidators more than a year ago and also asked it to be installed by their professional installers. Since I was investing lot of money, I wanted to do it right way. Right after installation there was lot of squeaky noise and lot of gaps. I told installer and he told me that it will go away with time i.e., expand and contrast of wood because of climate. As time went by, it became worst both gaps and squeaky noise. I contacted Customer Care at Home Service Store. They had installer come back. Installer checked and tried to fix it using wood filler for gap and nail gun for squeaky noise. Both looks bad, wood filler started showing dust on top of it and nail gun holes, looked ugly on smooth floor. After sometime, squeaky noise and gaps started showing at many other places. This time we agreed to have an inspector come over.
Inspector came over and I showed him the gaps and squeaky noise. I made sure to invest enough time before inspector shows up so that I don't miss anything. Gaps were so big that I could fold papers 3 or 4 times and was able to insert it in gaps. I did it for at least 50 places so that Inspector gets an idea of gaps. I showed him all the gaps and squeaky noise but after a week, when I got the call from Home Service saying that inspector reports says that there are some places where nails are missing and that would solve squeaky noise. And when I asked about gaps, she said inspector didn't put anything on gaps. I said that can't be true, I have showed him lot of gaps. So I felt like they are trying to hide something.
Then customer care called. Inspected again and then she says "yes now I see gaps related issue as well" and as per inspector gaps are because of the moisture and steam mop which we used like every 2 weeks to keep floor clean. So they asked me to stop using mop but it didn't help gap. It's more than 9 month after that, gaps are still there and wood squeaks at many other places. Installer came and replaced part of the floor and tried everything. We still have gaps and it makes squeaky noise. It is so frustrating that even after doing everything right from my end, I still have to go through all this. Now I have decided to go with an independent Wood Inspector to come down and let me know what's the exact issue. I am sure, it is either installation issue or something wrong with wood.

I have been a loyal DIY customer with Lumber Liquidators for the past 20 years or so. Unfortunately that has changed with my most recent purchase and I will no longer use them in the future. Everything started off great in that I had a great salesperson that went out of his way to get me a product sample, follow-up on my purchase decision and even get a .30 cent discount per sq. ft. for my purchase. Unfortunately, things went downhill after that.
I ordered 56 boxes of Casa de Color Espresso Oak 3/4" x 5" made by Builder's Pride and have experienced the most horrible quality control with a pre-finished wood floor of any install that I have made. The boxes of flooring consistently have 50% of the boards with one or more of the following problems: (1) split and/or missing tongues, (2) split and/or damaged grooves, (3) knot holes that result in missing and/or damaged surface finish, (4) random mars and/or gauges on the finish, (5) missing stain on the edges/bevels of the face, (6) powder post beetle holes that go completely through the planks and finish, (7) missing bevels/edges on the wood.
Initially, I was very pleased with how the problem was being handled in that the local store replaced my entire order after I showed them the problems that I mentioned above. However, the second order was no better and I still have 50% of the boards in boxes that have a defect. Based upon the commitment from my local salesperson, I agreed to "cherry pick" the best boards out of each box and they would swap out the defective boards that I brought back. I even went to great lengths to accept boards that were cosmetically defective and would use a colored pencil and/or wood putty to fill in damage and blemishes. After installing about 1/3 of the product, I attempted to bring back 11 boxes (out of the 56) and was told they did not have any of the floor and I needed to go through "Corporate".
After contacting Corporate I was told I needed to file a warranty claim and was emailed paperwork that I needed to fill out and a representative was assigned to my case. The representative then told me this process was lengthy and based upon the product being defective before install it needed to be handled by the local store. She then contacted the store to let them know what needed to be done. The store emailed me later in the day saying that they had the product and to come by and swap it out.
The next day I went to the store and after explaining my problems for the 5th time they finally agreed to the swap. I also asked to speak to a manager about possibly getting a discount for the issues with the product as it was clear I had been given a 2nd or 3rd rate inferior product and one with powder post beetles to boot. Both the salesperson and the store manager mentioned that they would likely put the product out on their sidewalk for drastic clearance/sale so I had brought up a 20% discount as fair for the sheer effort it was taking to go through all the boards and to "fix" them with colored pencils and wood putty.
Unfortunately, the manager referred me again back to "Corporate" because his store did not have any money to give. I could not quite understand that since I had paid with a credit card and it would have made sense to just issue a credit for $1200. He was nice enough to offer me a $10 floor cleaning kit which I promptly turned down. I did try to buy some spline/slip tongues but alas they did not have any in-stock!
I will certainly be escalating my case/situation to the Lumber Liquidators Corporate offices but I do not have any hope that they are going to help based upon my experience thus far. I wanted to share my experience in hope that it helps someone else avoid the hassle I have went through. To be fair, the store manager offered me a full refund for the product that I had not yet installed but with 1/3 already installed it would not make sense to have two different products side-by-side.
I was trying to be a good customer and work with the product and a commitment that had been. Lumber Liquidators really should empower the local store to handle these issues at the lowest level of the organization instead of bouncing the customer off to "Corporate". At Lumber Liquidators, the customer no longer has any type of advocacy once a purchase is made so caveat emptor - please make sure you know what you are getting into when buying from them. Good luck.
