I purchased laminate flooring from our store here in Jackson Mississippi. After installing, I began having very bad asthma attacks. I would wake up in the middle of the night unable to catch my breath. I have never had any type of breathing problems until now. My wife and 3 year old have also been showing symptoms with watery eyes and sneezing. My one year old has been running fever off and on ever since we moved back in. This company is knowingly selling laminate that has high level of formaldehyde in it. This is harming my family and I am beyond furious. Also, our dog has been having breathing problems 3 to 4 times a day and struggles to catch his breath. I wouldn't recommend using this company for anything. It's sad that a business loves money so much that they are willing to put children at risk to be able to make an extra 10 percent in profit.

Very happy to say that I am getting a Full Refund.

I went to Lumber Liquidators to buy maple wood flooring. When my contractor arrived at the warehouse, he called me to advise that the flooring would not work in my old house because the floors were not leveled. At that time he proceeded to give the phone to the same salesman that sold me the floor and said they would process my refund. When I got the paperwork from my contractor, I saw that $700 had been deducted for restocking fee. I think it is outrageous that companies like lumber liquidators are allowed to rob the general public. I work very hard for my money and I have to work an entire week to make the $700 that was robbed from me at lumber liquidators. Live and learn to never shop there again. BUYERS BEWARE!!

Purchased and installed flooring from Lumber Liquidators in 2009. We have leftover unopened boxes, that say "made in China". We ordered the flooring at our local Lumber Liquidators store, and paid cash. We don't have the receipt after 6 years, possibly LL has records of orders placed in store. Regardless, we are still living on these floors. Purchased and tested our air quality. Report came back 4/9/15, formaldehyde level: elevated, concentration: 82 ng/L (65 ppb). Very concerned about 6 years of exposure, at what I'm sure were much higher levels when first installed. We have had ongoing health issues, as well as our pets. What do we do about and or with these floors, while officials are deciding on possible recalls and or class actions? Most people, including myself, can't afford to remove and replace this stuff. Also not sure how to safely dispose of it. Kind of in limbo about what steps to take next.

I purchased flooring from lumber liquidators for my living room. I bought bamboo flooring. After taking it home I opened one box and every piece in the box was cracked! I returned the flooring the following weekend and took the new boxes of flooring back home. A week later I saw my same flooring on 60 min and with having small dogs in my home I became very worried so I decided to return it. I was told that the flooring I purchased was out of the 30 day return mark when it wasn't. From the time I had to return the flooring I still had 3 days left and that I would have to pay 20% restocking fee! Instead of trying to be understanding that I was scared about my flooring the manager of the Charlotte location on Thomasboro Drive was a complete jerk and slammed his hand on the counter at me and told me I would have to call corporate to have my return approved!
The whole time I was in the store he would go to the back and come back out and make rude comments to my dad. He was VERY unprofessional. Now it has been 4 almost 5 weeks since I submitted my return I have called over and over to see if it’s been processed. I called them again today to be told “it’s still in processing”!! Not only did they do nothing to really help me know when I would receive a check but the 2 people I talked to were so rude..... I WILL NEVER WORK WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
Working in the service industry I will make sure I tell everyone about my experience and to spend the extra money and go to Lowe’s or home depot, anywhere else just don't use Lumber Liquidators. They don't care about the people that spend money with them as long as they get you to spend it. NO ONE took the time to talk to me to help me understand about my flooring and all the formaldehyde in it or to ease the situation knowing I was scared! Please make sure you do all the research on the flooring you buy if you decide to purchase flooring from them because most of all the flooring they have, unless it’s real wood, has high amounts of formaldehyde in it! I wish I would have before purchasing the flooring because it has been a huge headache to deal with these people!

I purchased Morningstar Forbidden City bamboo flooring for our home. I let the floor acclimate for 2 weeks in our home before installing the floor. A couple weeks after installation my son dropped a matchbox car from about 6 inches on the floor and chipped the floor. I thought it was a fluke, so I tried it in an area where we had a rug and it did the same thing. After a couple of weeks we had chips all over the room. I was going to contact the manufacturer and found that it took me right to Lumber Liquidators' website. That could only mean that it was manufactured by them. I contacted Lumber Liquidators and they said I should file a claim. I did that along with submitting pictures of the floor. This was all before the 60 minutes story on the company.
The person that took care of my claim came back and said that I installed the floor incorrectly and that is why I was having problems and they would not do anything about it. I used the glue that they recommended and the underlayment. I have installed many wood floors before so I knew what I was doing. When I was not satisfied with their conclusion I contacted the person that was handling my claim again. He said I could hire an independent inspector and if they found that I installed the floor correctly they would give me a refund. I contacted an inspector and he said that he was pretty sure that I installed the floor correctly. He said he had some experience with others that have had the same problem and no one got any resolution from Lumber Liquidators. He said, "They will fight it and claim that if your home is too dry then you need a humidifier, and if it is too wet then you need a dehumidifier."
I completed a product review on their website, but they will not publish it, which I think is wrong. They will not even respond to me at this point. I found this site and was surprised by the number of people that have the same problems with the company. About the 60 minutes story on the company. They said that the chemicals are trapped in the floor during manufacturing. However, boards are cut to size exposing the layers and releasing chemicals into the air.

I'm sorry but I never complain like this, but I have a issue with my floor that we had put down in June. I have been calling and emailing the company's customer service for about a month in a half, and I have yet to get a simple "I will help you". All that keeps happening is "i will transfer or the the person is on another call". Last week I asked to talk to a supervisor, of course he was on another call. So I left a message, I have yet to hear back from him. So I now I have turned a complaint into the better business bureau, and tomorrow I'm sitting down with a lawyer to discuss my next steps. My floor which has a 30 year warranty is gaping more than 3 inches from my walls and edges, and is bucking up in the middle and separating altogether. I believe that something is wrong with the morning star bamboo I received, and I can't seem to get anyone's help.

We purchased about $3200 of Kensington Manor Golden Teak 12-mm Handscraped Laminate Flooring from Lumber Liquidators from Nov 2013 to Jan 2014. My husband cut and installed the flooring entirely himself over the course of several months. While installing we were disappointed that many pieces had damaged finishes and required trips back to store for replacement. Recently, after hearing about the 60 minutes report, we hired a professional certified air quality company (cost of $295) to come do an indoor air quality test in our home including a formaldehyde test. The results were alarming. The NIOSH recommended exposure limit is 20 ng/L or less (equivalent to 16 parts per billion). The formaldehyde level in our home was 110 ng/L (85 ppb).
When calling the store they tried to say it was other factors in our home, that it wasn't their flooring and referred me to corporate. Corporate is impossible to get through to and only says they will send us a test kit. I don't need a test kit. It is my opinion that your company, in thirst for money, has put people's safety over profits. I'm angry and disappointed that you won't admit your mistake and try to make it right by all the people you have sold cheap Chinese flooring to that is unhealthy and in many of the reviews, not living up to the quality standards you claim. I wished there was a negative rating available. Please folks, do not do business with Lumber Liquidators.

I purchased nearly $5,000 in hand scraped hardwood flooring for a new home in Colorado. Sales associate instructed us to allow at least 48 hours for flooring to acclimate; we waited 7 full days. I paid for the upgraded underlayment padding and installed exactly as instructed. I am a licensed professional engineer and was very careful about the installation.
In less than 1 year we have at least 6 locations in the flooring that have separated from each other. This particular model of floor uses no glue and no nails (floating). There is no easy way to repair the gapping without removing and replacing the entire floor. This would also require pulling all the shoe molding attached to the toe boards along the entire perimeter. It turns out that "Virginia Millworks Co." imports all their wood from China.
After filing the required 6 page disclosure with pictures of the damage, it has been two weeks and I've heard nothing from my assigned "case worker". Repeated calls to the Customer Service desk have gone unanswered. At this point, it would seem that the best case scenario may get me my purchase price back for the flooring which means I'm out two weeks of installation time, and hundreds of dollars in replacement trim, paint, moulding, etc. Very disappointed all the way around.

We had flooring installed 2 days before the law suit about the formaldehyde was made public on the news, ever since then I have been trying to get a test kit and have even... received an e-mail from the 3rd party saying it was shipped, and we would receive it in 1-3 business days. Well that's been over 2 weeks and the "customer care" department from lumber liquidators have been no help with trying to track the test kit down. I have spoke with the store manager and to no avail not a single person can tell me what's going on nor can they track my package with the test kit. In the mean while I sit in lawn chairs waiting to buy new furniture for our home which we do not want to do if we have to remove our floor... come on people, get it together. REALLY.

We purchased Morning Star solid bamboo flooring for our home. The look is beautiful but the clear coat finish is scratching terribly and leaving bright white permanent lines all over our house. Boards came out of the box defective in the finish. So much for highly durable! I contacted Customer Service immediately and filed my official paperwork with photos. They eventually wanted a box of our floor to test for manufacturer’s defects. We were told we would be reimbursed for the box via store credit. They highly insinuated that we were at fault, we did everything wrong and that even the glue we used (purchased at Lumber Liquidators) was suspect. They even criticized their own employees at our local store and said they did wrong by us.
After several weeks I contacted them again. They told me it was scheduled to be tested the next day and I would be contacted promptly. We have had no updates and cannot get through to anyone and also never received reimbursement for the box they sent for. They recommended having a certified hard wood inspector look at it with the possibility we would eat the expense. However when I contacted the National Wood Floors Association there is not an inspector in our state. What their professional did explain to me though certainly was not favorable of the product we purchased or Lumber Liquidators as a whole. We are so sad that our purchase to create value and enjoyment for our home backfired on us. What happened to being honorable and helping your customers? We are 2 months into the process and it's our word against theirs. How will we ever know the true findings of their "test"?

We purchased the Tranquility 5 mm Golden Teak Luxury Vinyl Planking from the Lumber Liquidators location in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The folks at the store highly recommended this product for our particular situation, a basement that occasionally flooded but had no ongoing moisture issues. The situation was explained in full to the employees and they said this product was perfect for what we needed and included a warranty for water issues (but again, not ongoing moisture). In the event of water in the basement, all we would need to do was pull up the flooring to dry out the underlayment and reinstall, no problems.
We purchased the flooring in two separate stages, as we finished the smaller room in the basement first, followed by the remainder of the space a few months later. The product installed easily and looked fantastic. All recommendations for acclimation were followed and the warranty was reviewed prior to installation. Flash forward several months to a minor basement flood. The flooring was carefully pulled up and placed aside out of the wet areas and the underlayment was allowed to dry. Two weeks later we attempted to reinstall the floor. As we did so, the tongues snapped off. We were unable to reinstall the flooring as it became clear that at best a third of the floor wasn't going to be usable and that potentially all of it was ruined. And so we started the process to put in a complaint and make a warranty claim.
The basement water issue was in late August. The complaint process was started in September. It is now nearly April and there is no resolution. Calls and emails have not been returned since January. Lumber Liquidators has left me with stacks and stacks of unusable flooring, a basement with nothing but underlayment down and thousands of wasted dollars. And they won't return a phone call. I actively warn people about the bad products and awful customer service to prevent them from making a similar mistake.

I purchased $1000 worth of this cheap laminate flooring from LL that they bought from China for pennies on the dollar back in Dec 2014. For the last 4 months I put down 2 bedrooms myself. Ever since I started this project I have had all the symptoms of formaldehyde poisoning. In my own home, I have cut and installed and breathed and slept in it for 4 months now. I am sick with headaches, red eyes, shortness of breath, cough and sneezing. Please if anyone is thinking of buying any laminate flooring from LL you had better think again.
So now I am miserably sick with 2 bedrooms done and 20 more boxes unopened sitting in my house, not about to put down anymore. Was going to do the whole house. So now my house is a disaster with no help from LL. They can only say their product is 100% safe. What a load of **. See they are in a major lawsuit all over the country. That is what they are supposed to say. Admit no guilt. Even if I were to try and sell my house who in their right mind would want to buy a house that is contaminated with unacceptable levels of formaldehyde that will make them sick or that could lead to uhhh...cancer? Please anyone with a reply thank you. I need help for what am I supposed to do? But it isn't coming from LL.

Purchased and had a Lumber Liquidators installer install my new floors and after only one month it is separating all over the place. Now this is a vinyl floor. No wood whatsoever. It is 4mm click/floating floor, no glue required. They are saying that it could possibly be humidity or something like that. We think it could be the fact that they nailed the shoe molding into the floors, hence being not able to float??? Flooring upstairs is not separating and we think that is because we removed the molding before install and did not have to use shoe molding because they were able to re-put on the existing molding. Waiting for installer to visit us next week to assess the problem! Worried!

We installed laminate flooring purchased at Lumber Liquidators July 2014. Our cat (only 9 yrs old) suddenly developed a respiratory problem and died within months of the installation. We then started suffering from joint pains. After five months my wife started getting regular nosebleeds that gushed like a faucet for an hour at a time, the ENT is asking what has changed in the household recently. Last month we saw the 60 minutes program about concerns of high levels of formaldehyde purchased from Lumber Liquidators and quickly ordered our own formaldehyde test kit from a reputable lab. We followed instructions and conducted our tests both upstairs and downstairs. The flooring was put in only downstairs (over 1400 sq ft) but the results are in - HIGH levels of formaldehyde BOTH up and downstairs.
We have made several calls to both the store that the product was purchased and to Lumber Liquidators representatives, there is clearly a lack of unwillingness to engage to resolve the safety concerns about their unsafe product towards me and my family. I am equally concerned about the safety to the public that has installed any of their products. In fact, Lumber Liquidators has not responded to my phone calls or email about placing my family lives in jeopardy due to the tested high levels of formaldehyde. People can listen to what they post and say about what Lumber Liquidators is reporting but you must get your own air quality test to prove if your house is safe or not. To: Tom Sullivan (Founder & Chairman) you seriously claim your products are 100% safe, our test results clearly contradict you. We are removing this floor as soon as possible and are very disappointed with your company its handling of people lives.

After getting our square footage needed for the new bamboo floor our contractor was installing, we took that to the nearest store to purchase that amount plus an additional box, since it was only sold in full boxes. While at the store we trusted the employees to sell us the square footage needed, since the products are stored in the warehouse, that we needed. Instead after completion of the floor we had to return 4 full boxes and 1 roll each of underlayment and tube of glue, and was charged a restocking fee for their miscalculation. I didn't think too much about this until later when I have been talking to other people who have had the same problem. I am beginning to think that this is common practice.

Two years ago we ordered Morning Star bamboo flooring for our home from Lumber Liquidators. After the fourth week of acclimation we began to install our flooring (in late June). In August we went on vacation to return two floors that had shrunk from the quarter round by about 1/2 of an inch. My husband and I discussed the issue and decided that we would add extra molding between the baseboard and the quarter round. This would add close to 3/4 of an inch for coverage. We thought surely there is no way the flooring would shrink beyond that point. We shopped for a solution finally we added a piece of chair rail (about 1/2 of an inch in thickness) against the baseboard then added the quarter round which cover any shrinkage. We also added extra pieces of the flooring under the door frames to cover the areas of shrinkage.
It has yet again shrunk so much so that now there about a 1/4 of an inch gap due to shrinkage from the edge of the flooring to the quarter round. We contacted our local Lumber Liquidators store to be directed to the warranty department. Photos were sent with a explanation of how we tried to repair/cover the shrinkage prior to submitting a complaint. We were told gaps are to be expected. Also they implied that our room size was too large not to have a t-molding piece in the middle. This problem is not an installation issue, it is 100% a product issue. This company was quick to sell their product by using the warranty, but don't you dare mention warranty when you are having a problem.
Of course your warranty doesn't cover that. With all that being said morning star bamboo floors are beautiful in looks but suck in quality. Lumber Liquidators doesn't stand behind their products. I would never recommend this company for the purchase of anything. Saving a few dollars up front will surely catch up with you in the end.

Laying out the material it was brought to my attention substantial grade difference in what I had purchased. Local installer I knew immediately stated that this is utility grade wood. The comparison to the #2 red oak previously installed was stark.
Called the Lumber Liquidators store and was advised that different mills have different Material rating system. I was not shown a sample of the material that would be delivered to my home. As a consumer I was not aware that the rating system was individual tailored by the mill of choice. I have not been able to get an answer as to where this mill is located.
After $300.00 in additional delivery charge to get the correct grade of material delivered and two more weeks of acclimating the wood it was finally install. 75% of installed product from Lumber Liquidators is Defective! July 29, 2014; we bought hardwood flooring from Lumber Liquidators in Mississauga (Ontario, Canada), the brand is (Golden Teak Acacia Hardwood Flooring 3/4') with 30-year warranty. We based our decision to purchase the hardwood on certain samples at retail store showroom, which we examined before committing ourselves to the purchase.
After acclimated the product at our house for more than 5 months and used a moisture barrier, which they are selling to keep our warranty valid. We also followed all manufacturer regulations and recommendations. Unfortunately, during installation and reached of 85% of the process, we noticed there were some defecates mostly at the ends of the boards, which is more than the expected 5% range that our invoice mentioned when we bought the flooring.
Jan 2015; We informed LL about the flooring issue and filled disclosure forms, the store manager came out to the site to view the floor and he requested to get everything on hold, acknowledged there was a defect (in this patch) of product, and the arrangements were made to ship samples and box of unopened material to the head office in Virginia, USA for inspection.
LLs acts of fraudulent concealment, using improper warranty tactics and commissioning sham inspection from INSPECT SOLUTIONS to our flooring in response to complaints in order to "mislead consumers into believing that the defect could be traced to shoddy installation," and to exonerate Lumber Liquidators from any responsibility.
LL markets and warrants that the Product is durable and further markets and warrants that the Product has a thirty (30) year warranty. LL provided a reasonable expectation to consumers and the industry that the Product would have a usable lifetime of at least thirty (30) years. The Products various modes of failure potentially cause damage to other building components and render the Product susceptible to premature failure.
LL did not honor its warranty and denial our claim. It's amazing to us that a company is so adamant about taking no responsibility for such a poor product (75% defect) which is marketed to be "durable" with 30 years warranty, but it seems there is no quality control had been done at all for this product before wrapping and delivery. We had to hire 3rd party independent inspector licensed by National Wood and Flooring Association (NWFA), he mentioned the mill actually attempted to fuse cracks with glue and then fill them with putty, the manufacturer did this intentionally. His conclusion is (Manufacturing Defects).
LL has been notified of its breach of written warranties and has failed to adequately cure those breaches. As a direct and proximate result of Defendants breaches of its Written warranties, engaged in unlawful business practices in that Defendant represented, through its advertising, warranties and other express representations that the Product had characteristics it did not actually have. We are requiring LL to compensation for financial losses associated with the purchase of the flooring. These losses include: Installation costs, Removal costs, Loss of use, Diminished property value, Remediation costs.

Purchased over 1000 square feet of Bellawood engineered hickory and the expensive Bellawood padding to go with it. We were replacing the existing maple hardwood flooring that had been installed in the house when built 10 years ago. The maple flooring had begun to split and crack as the previous owner was not aware regular hardwood and radiant do not mix. We did our homework and made sure our radiant temperature was within the proper ranges and researched what species of engineered was best over radiant so we then chose Bellawood engineered hickory. All instructions were followed to a "T" to include acclimating the floor for a week prior in the room it was to be installed in and hired a professional. We spent the time and money as this was to be the last flooring we wanted to install.
This was installed in May when radiant was not in use per instructions. We started noticing small almost like blisters in random areas of the floor and upon closer inspection many of these blisters were turning into hairline cracks. I immediately contacted Lumber Liquidators, upon which I was told I would receive a packet that needed to be completed along with pictures which I have done. It's been two weeks and still no response even to say they received my documentation that was sent via several emails per their instruction. I have tried to call twice and get put on hold only to get a recording that they are experiencing high call volume and if I leave message and number, they will call back. Needless to say, no call back yet.
Please keep in mind that the salesman, who I believe was the assistant manager, assured us this product was great for radiant heat users, especially hickory and Bellawood which was top of the line, and highly suggested the Bellawood premium underlayment to assure a great outcome which we purchased 800 dollars worth. Totally sick about whole ordeal.

Purchased Morning Star Bamboo Flooring from these guys, and the product was originally installed by one person from All Wood Flooring. Were told it was an acceptable product for our house. About 6 months after install, we starting experiencing board separation in our foyer and by the staircase to the second floor. We had to have the people from Lumber Liquidators come out and inspect. We were told that it was an "installation" issue. To resolve the problem, they had the installer, from All Wood Flooring (the original installers), come out and essentially re-install the floor back down in those two areas.
By the next winter, approximately 9 months after the "re-installation", we started experiencing additional separation issues between the boards now in the living room, at the juncture of the dining and living room, as well as by the door to the back deck. We re-contacted the people at Lumber Liquidators and the people at All Wood Flooring and were told that we now have to have a national flooring inspector come out to the house, of which there are 5 in the state of Maryland. If that person deemed it was an issue with installation, their cost, which is between $750.00 and $1500.00 to do the inspection, would be covered. If it was an issue with the product in the house, we would eat the cost of the inspection and be left without coverage.
We had a separate hardwood installer come out to the house last week and take a look at what was going on. Rather than an installation issue, he thought the problem was due to the boards shrinking in all 4 directions rather than just along the long axis. He also mentioned that the bamboo product of Morning Star is notorious for this issue. He essentially said that this product should not have been used in our house to begin with.

We reached out to our local store. They referred us to an 800 number. The number was automated, and my phone battery died after 20+ minutes of waiting prior to. The company is out there publicly stating that they would test the flooring and replace it if unsafe. However, they aren't making themselves accessible to customers who have been affected by their toxic products.
Sorry to hear you had trouble getting through. There were several publications about the Free Test Kit that led non-LL customers to request air quality test kits meant only for those laminate customers where recent media suggested they were potentially unsafe, a position we disagree with because the testing method used to make this allegation was questionable. The home test kits are being provided as a step for customers with our laminate floors to help reassure them that their floor as installed is safe, not open for the general public to receive free testing.
Lumber Liquidators implemented an online tool for screening test kits to expedite the testing process.
To reassure our customers, we are providing indoor air quality testing at no cost to qualifying customers as the fastest, most effective way to measure the total level of formaldehyde in the home. The testing is being administered and the results produced by an independent, accredited lab. The customer is in control of the process, with clear instructions on the test and its results. Never buy from Lumber Liquidators but if you do, please understand they stand behind their "Terms and Conditions" and NOT their product. If you have found this site before purchasing please consider yourself lucky - like "hitting the lottery for whatever you were about to pay for your floor" kind of lucky. Like many others we purchased a lot of Morning Star Hand Scraped Strand Anji Bamboo and had a professional installer put it in - well at least we had him start putting it in. We started noticing problems on day 3 of the installation. The floor that was squeaky and parts of it had separated from the 1st day's batch. On day 2 and 3 we had a big rain so the air was humid and we started investigating things. That's when we found out the horrible decision we had made. Complaint after complaint and then class action on our product. We even tried to return the portion of the floor still in the box. Once again LL stood behind their "policy" not their product.

The service at Lumber Liquidators was great. **, from the NY Westbury store, was patient, helpful and had good customer service. I only wish the product was as good as the service. I purchased over 3200 sq feet of Hardwood flooring, VMHS Old World Oak, it appeared beautiful in the store and in my Tutor home it would replace 100 year old wood flooring. I hire a professional wood installation company that has a excellent rate and came highly recommended.
Let the installation begin - the floors were properly acclimated, the wood was disturbed to the rooms it would be installed and was there longer than the required acclimation time due to scheduling and rain days. The installer explained the importance of not rushing to make sure the moisture and humidity was right for the floor. They installed plywood and leveled the slant in my floor to make sure all floors were level. The floor looked AWESOME!!!
About one month past the floors being installed, my son ran to me crying - he had a splinter in his foot. The wood floor had splintered off and became embedded in his foot. This was the first of many splinters. Then abnormal, very large gaps started to appear everywhere in the 1763.10 square feet we had already installed. Additionally the floor appeared to be cracking from the 'Shrinkage" and caused addition splintering of the top layer of the wood. Before anyone can say: "shrinkage is normal," I know I had wood floors and lived thru small cracks, I know about maintaining humidity, I have a built-in humidifier in my heating system (and yes it was working). The shrinkage was excessive, the splinters too many to count and damn they hurt!!! My poor golden doodle was bleeding all over the floor from one... And in other area stain appears to just crack off the floor, in non traffic areas.
The saying "Looks aren't everything" is so true. After visiting the Architectural design show in NY last year Lumber Liquidators' representative explained; "that the quality of their product has change for the better and that they guarantee it!!!" We will see. I have filed a grievance with the quality control department. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! The pink sticking notes are marking cracks and splinter in just one room!!!

We put this floor in our living room, dining room, hallway, and all bedrooms in 2012. The only nice thing I can say about it is that it is pretty, the parts that aren't damaged. This floor has absolutely zero tolerance to any moisture, i.e. if you come out of the bathroom and 1/2 tsp water drips onto one of the cracks and you don't get it wiped up, you will have a permanent bubble in your floor. If you drop something with any weight to it, you will have a chip out of your floor. They are impossible to keep clean. The moment a foot or paw touches your clean floor, you will be able to see it in the light.
I attributed this to our mistake of picking a dark floor with a shine to it, but I've read several online reviews where others believe there is a flaw in the finish. Finally I just discovered that this is one of the floors included in the formaldehyde controversy and worry about our health. Super disappointed. It took us years to save the money to put these floors in. I submitted this same review to the LL website and they did not post. If you read the fine print, when you submit a review, it says "your review MAY be shared on our website." Their overall review compared to this site and amazon.com differs greatly.

Purchased floors from Lumber Liquidators (wood), they lasted six weeks and they buckled and split. Spent 15k, used their contractor to install. Did every thing they said to and they keep blaming it on moisture issue, the installer used the wrong glue when installed and have the engineer report to prove it and the insurance company report. This issue has been going on since November 20th 2014, had floor installed September 28th 2014. This company is very hard to deal with. They have a warranty designed never to pay a claim.
Worst company I have ever had to work with. We now have to turn the case over to our attorney and go to court witch is going to cost me 5k but I will not let them get away with this!!! I should have read the reviews before I decide to use them!!! I will never make that mistake again. Whoever sees this, do not buy from Lumber Liquidators!!! Not a good company!!! Read reviews before choosing them and you will see what I mean.

We purchased and installed two rooms of the Morning Star Bamboo flooring this past fall. The sales agent stated it was touted as being the hardest flooring available and care free...Ours is cupping in one 9 row section in our living room and about half of the dining room floor. Scratches abound as well. LL refuses to come look and have only sent a letter stating we must have done something wrong or have a water leak in our foundation. They wouldn't answer if it could perhaps be that they received a BAD BATCH from China? LL does not stand behind their product. We don't have any water pipes in our foundation (mani-block system). We don't have humidity issues since we have a Lennox A/C-heater system that maintains it at 40% typically year round.
We used their Bostik glue product to place it down...We use the cleaning products and process they told us to follow as well. Our home has never had any water or moisture concerns, though simply looking at pictures we sent to them, they say we do. Still, about 6 weeks after it was laid down, cupping began... Now, after $4800, LL states it MUST be our problem.
The salespeople NEVER brought up the need to moisture check anything as well. That's because the tool costs a couple hundred $$ as well! When we contacted the 2 inspection companies LL sent us info on, one was honest enough to tell me that LL still denies the claims...This saved me another $350-450 for them to do a useless after-the-fact test...at least someone was honest! We liked the green aspects, but have wasted $4K doing it...

Seven years ago (we have the receipt) my husband and I purchased 2000 sq ft of laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators. We also installed it ourselves subjecting us to the constant dust. Our two children lived at home and were 20 and 19 and living at home during college and my purebred Siamese cats have developed unexplained breathing and eye problems. My husband has COPD and cancer and I've been unable to work for a year due to joint and body pain and severe fatigue. My 25-year old son just moved out March 1st and our daughter about 2 years ago. After seeing and reading about the 60 minutes investigation I think there is a serious issue with the flooring produced in China under the Lumber Liquidators corporation. Ever since getting the flooring installed throughout our entire home our family has had nothing by respiratory issues that were never present before. We installed the flooring in 2011. The product is St. Brazilian Koa 12mm and the label on the box that I kept states it is certified level 1. We made a conscious effort to eliminate as many indoor air contaminants as possible, formaldehyde being one of them. Our home was a sustainable built home and we intended to keep it that way. Shame on them for lacking the necessary oversight and trusting Chinese factories.

The flooring in the front rooms was removed and tile installed by Home Depot.
NOW it's alleged that the flooring materials made in China contains an illegal amount of formaldehyde. The 3 flooring mills in China admitted that the sold flooring contained higher than California safety standards. The U.S. Department of Justice may file criminal charges for violations in Import Laws. New laws are about to be passed regarding acceptable levels of formaldehyde by our Government. I'm about to replace all the laminate in my bedroom because now I can account for my pulmonary problems. I have labels for the boxes, communications, and pictures etc.

We purchased Morning Star Bamboo from LL in May 2014. Left it a month to acclimatize in our house before having a certified contractor install it. By October the boards had separated and cracked leaving 1/2 inch gaps in between them. We contacted LL to be told it was a humidity problem although the humidifier was set at the recommended 30%. We reset it to 50% but it made no difference. We have spend the last 4 months trying to get LL to rectify the problem with no success. The 30-year warranty that comes with this product is useless as they do not stand by the flooring they sell. I have now joined a class action lawsuit against Lumber Liquidators as I was sick of getting the run around from them when all I wanted was help.

After tallying excess of a hundred marks, dents and chips, I sent them pictures and my detailed findings. They sent me information regarding flooring and how to care for your floor. I find comical due to the fact we have been following everything recommended from the beginning. We are two adults in the house. We have paved walkways and drive. Our entry ways are tiled and we take our shoes off at the door. I dropped a key ring with one key on it and it left a dent and chipped the surface. I received no response in writing to validate my claims or any resolution. Their unwillingness to correct the defects is why I write this. My recommendation is to find a reputable company willing to stand behind their product, Lumber Liquidators is not it.

I had the flooring installed by Lumber Liquidators and within 2 months the flooring was separating. A second installer came to check my floors several months after my initial complaint, and I am still waiting to hear from the corporate office what they are planning to do. My advice would be, research before shopping so a known bad product doesn't end up in your home.

We installed ourselves, following the instructions to a T... my husband is a meticulous finish carpenter and knows what he's doing... Over the last two months, it has started separating... huge gaps, some almost an inch wide... It's also pulled away from the walls... it seems it has shrunk so much that the purple underlayment is showing. I'm sick about it and we can't afford to replace it - it sounds like others have taken it up and tried to re-install, which is what we were planning to do since LL won't stand by this product... but now I'm not sure if it's worth the time and energy. We purchased the Morning Star Peking Antique Bamboo flooring back in September 2014. We were given fantastic instructions by the sales associate that we purchased from and followed all instructions to the T. We purchased this product for the majority of our entire first floor. The floor was very easy to install and looked beautiful! However, approximately 2-months later we notices gapping in our foyer so I contacted LL customer care and was able to speak with a master installer. He told me that he has seen this type of situation before and has had to go back to jobs to fix such issues and gave me his recommendations.
We followed his recommendation of taking the flooring up to that point, inspecting for any type of fracture of the specific board and then my husband replaced and re-installed flooring. (Again, the floor has only been down for 2-months!) So, since re-installing the floor, within the next week there continued to be areas of gapping and separating of boards, which are now in multiple areas/rooms of the floor. It is now completely unlocking and giving, which has caused some of the boards to crack. The disclosure statement clearly states that after receiving/reviewing the information, I would hear from a representative within 24-hrs.
I did not speak with anyone until I had to call 3-days later after I submitted my forms. This has been a complete nightmare and we are completely dissatisfied with the outcome of this entire situation! I have been sending multiple pictures to better clarify what is happening. It is a disgrace that we paid all of this money on this product and are now being asked to spend more money to get an inspection performed. This new floor was purchased to upgrade the value of our home and is now just bringing down the value... This is completely unacceptable!! Where do we go from here???

We used a Lumber Liquidator's, "prescreened, independent, licensed, insured, authorized, flooring specialist." What we got was a man who claimed to be a general contractor who wasn't present on site during or after installation, who sent a crew who knew very little about the product they were installing (untrained), and were unable to perform the job as described in LL advertisements.
Before the initial installation, the owner of the installation company told me the flooring needed to be acclimated in my home for 10 days. When we called him because he was over an hour late delivering the flooring, I asked about acclimation because they couldn't make the delivery until the next day - he told me 9 days acclimation would be fine. (Found out later he couldn't have possibly known that without testing the material with a moisture meter).
I also found out during the install from one of the installers that the reason why he missed the delivery was his septic backed up onto the lawn which was where his workers were that day. My husband took off of work that day to be home for the delivery. It was extremely unprofessional that he didn't call us before the delivery to reschedule, and that we had to track him down.
During the install, the owner of the installation company never showed up, only his crew who I asked 3 times if the subfloor was okay to lay product over, and if they were sure. They assured me it was fine, which turned out not to be true. They couldn't identify subfloor conditions that should have warranted immediate halting of installation of the flooring (per LL and Morning Star literature). They used inadequate perimeter spacing. They didn't install crucial expansion strips that were required for the floor to perform and for the warranty to be valid.
They failed to eliminate boards with obvious defects (one with a bright red birthmark and one with a bubble gum looking and brown putty mark. They took my molding/expansion strips they failed to install without telling me. The owner of the company used unrelated specifications (information meant to describe acceptable un-levelness of an entire floor area) to justify his crews decision to proceed with the install over the damaged subfloor citing the padding was the solution. The actual installers told me the only concern would be raised areas, like a raised seam, and that dips were of no worry because of the product's rigidness. The gouges were firework patterns of various sizes, widths, and depths over large areas of the floor.
When the owner of the company (who failed to guide his crew) came to look at the problems two weeks post install, he verbalized intent to secure moving boards length wise with "f" molding, (they weren't locking on the narrow ends). This would have prevented the floor from expanding so it was inappropriate. He also saw, but didn't mention that his crew didn't install expansion strips in entry/door ways (7 total) (demonstrating an unwillingness to notify me of warranty issues his crew created).
When I told him it seemed like his crew was rushed and that they installed flooring over a heating vent, he said that wasn't that unusual. When the gapping in the doorways began to show at three weeks post install, and I told him, he voiced intent to only put expansion strips in the doorways by the floor problems, not all doorways.
After he had viewed the installation problems, and I hadn't heard from him, he told HSS he was waiting for the flooring to arrive (his excuse as to why he didn't call). When he called to arrange repair/installation, 18 days later for flooring that was in stock, he wanted to do it in 5 days. Again, blatant disregard for acclimation. I began to wonder how HSS determines who is qualified to be a "professional flooring specialist." I did a web search for history on my installer and found basically dead ends as far as the company goes and no indication that they had interaction with the public.
The "business" is registered with the state as a LLC, and local chamber the of commerce, but no website, no ratings, only information showing someone else owned the company two years ago. My contractor took control of it on Oct 29, 2012. (Experience?) It again calls to question an advertised representation that the contractors they use are licensed, professional, prescreened, and flooring specialists.
When discussing the repairs, my "experienced professional" wouldn't consider any other manner to fix the subfloor, despite not seeing the subfloor yet himself, except to replace the subfloor @ $4.69sf. This would have been a nice option during the install when services were suppose to occur and subfloor conditions addressed. Now he wants to make money off his failure to be competent, as agreed upon, during the install.
This whole Lumber Liquidators process opens itself up to abuse. What would stop an installer from having multiple unprofessional installations- and simply use his time to go around making repairs to the mistakes from those jobs? I would like to know how many jobs my contractor has done for Lumber Liquidators- especially how many since I reported my installer for misapplying material and verbalizing intent to incorrectly apply more material?
HSS keeps referring to the installer's right to fix the work in the contract. Where is my right, as a precursor to that contract, to the preconditions stated by Lumber Liquidators to be an "authorized installer"? Where's my right to have a professional, qualified, flooring specialist do the work?
What if he does something else that voids the contract while "fixing" it- because he "didn't know," and I find out about it after the one year installation warranty? It's disturbing that despite the facts, HSS wants to continue to treat the installer as if he's qualified to do the work, more or less suggesting he continues to fit Lumber Liquidator's agreed upon and advertised standards as a professional?
You'd think that between pictures, texts, and things the installer had said to me, the only real resolution is to have the entire floor removed, subfloor properly inspected and repaired, padding taped (I don't believe the crew did that), proper perimeter spacing completed, expansion strips installed, all with properly moisture meter tested material (including the subfloor as directed by Morning Star). They didn't use moisture meters.
How can I as an uneducated lay person, in such a short time, understand more, than a group of men who claim to be "professionals"? What did I pay for if I have to tell "Professionals" that they are doing something wrong? Am I suppose to argue with them and risk losing my money if they don't agree and they're right because they knew something I was unaware of as a professional?
I am not sure what the process HSS uses to determine how Lumber Liquidator's "authorized" installers are qualified, but I do know that whatever the case, when I called to raise concerns about my contractor, a representative named "Amanda" actually made excuses for conflicting things my installer texted to me that made little sense and conflicted with things HE told HSS. I asked Amanda at HSS, "How do you know this?" She awkwardly stated, "I assumed." I asked, "Is that your job to assume for the contractor?”
It just made me really uncomfortable that HSS was dismissive of something that could be a huge contributing factor to materials failing due to insufficient acclimation, and made me ask- why aren't they concerned about these "independent contractors" installing product in a manner that will void the flooring's warranty? Lumber Liquidator's hired HSS to handle this, why isn't HSS acting in a protective manner toward Lumber Liquidator's flooring products?
Isn't their priority proper installation of Lumber Liquidator's products instead of securing their contractors jobs? There is a HUGE conflict of interest. Don't they want to reduce complaints that initially come to them looking like product performance failures, but are install errors? Wouldn't that save them time, money, and avoid unnecessary angry customers? It raises a lot of questions.
I had another flooring installation issue 10 years ago. The manufacturer of the product flew a representative in from out of state to see the floor. He saw it and exposed the flooring store for hiring untrained workers to do the install. The store tried to label the installation as "professional," but upon inspection the work itself demonstrated the unprofessional installation. The flooring company cared about how their product performed, they wanted to know WHY it was failing, and they believed in their product- and defended it.
When the owner of the HSS referred installation company did his quote for the installation, I briefly told him about dealing with a bad installer and the floor warranty being voided. I told him I did NOT want to go thru that again and didn't want anything done that would void the warranty of the floor. He clearly was not worried at all about HSS or about the consequences from LL regarding his company's misapplication of the product, or about his agreement with me to perform the work at the highest standards as agreed upon in his contract with me. He did nothing to prepare and educate his crew, or himself with the Morning Star installation information.
I believe, the installation of my flooring, has defined the installer's lack of experience or work ethic and capacity for deception. He chose to send a crew that wasn't capable of performing the standard or scope of work needed or promised. I voiced a desire with HSS to reverse the charges to my credit card based on "a failure to perform."
HSS still wants a "punch list" from me- trying to reserve the contractor's right to cure despite his negligence, and demonstrated intent to misapply more material. I believe this is a statement on behalf of HSS illustrating their lack of interest to prioritize a proper professional installation for the sake of performance of the product, over their interests in maintaining the sale of a service that was ill gotten.
I trusted HSS to assist me in choosing an installer because I assumed they had a interest in helping Lumber Liquidator's avoid unnecessary product complaints. I assumed they would choose installers that would have knowledge of products, valued representing the Lumber Liquidator's brand, and would do nothing to put that relationship at risk by carelessly applying product. It appears that the only risk to installers is to have to do repairs on problems that can be attributed to installation, within a year's period of time.
If I hadn't known what my subfloor damage looked like, they would have floored over it, not told me, and no doubt blamed the problems I am having on something other than installation. How many other people have had subfloor issues that the installer floored over and didn't tell them? HSS advertised they had some process that would be relevant to choosing "professional flooring specialists," to determine they were experienced, independent businesses, that were professional and competent, and who's references and backgrounds were checked.
These are all things as a consumer you'd expect a huge corporation to do, claiming to find "professional, pre-screened, licensed, and experienced, floor specialists" for their prospective customers. The implication made within the advertisements is that these contractors, although their own businesses, had to agree and meet certain conditions, to be an authorized Lumber Liquidator's installer, and in order for HSS to refer customers to them. HSS's email address even includes "TRUSTHSS" in its email address (trust home store).
Their advertisements lead the reasonable consumer to believe that using Lumber Liquidator's/HSS selected independent contractors is a benefit- not some cloaked disclaimer intended to warn customers that because they are independent contractors by IRS definitions that HSS has no control over them or the standards of their work and because of this they hold no responsibility to notify a new customer if an installer they are referring does bad work or doesn't meet the standards or expectations outlined in their advertised literature. How are uneducated consumers suppose to know this?
The advertisements do state there is an agreed standard of performance. The reasonable consumer is assuming installers will not be used if they demonstrate that they are negligent to follow those accepted standards. I realize there are disclaimers in the event bad actions occur, but it isn't written as permission by the customer to knowingly be exposed to it - or to accept a higher risk of it or to eliminate HSS obligation to notify the customer if their referred installer has done work inconsistent with the standards advertised are agreed to.
The customer has a right to be aware of inconsistencies- especially those that might affect the warranty- so they can confront their installer if the installer uses their "professional" advice, in a deceptive or inappropriate manner. It's one thing to have a Professional installer make a mistake and fix it, but it is a whole other matter to call someone a professional who can't demonstrate proper knowledge of the product or its application, and who verbalizes intent to misapply product, and to tell the customer they should allow that individual to fix a problem.
Allowing such an individual to a fix a mistake, gives them a legitimacy that they haven't earned and don't deserve after they've stripped themselves of their credibility. Arranging new jobs for them through Lumber Liquidator's is unethical, unimaginable, and inexplicable if they keep using them. It causes concern because any work that this contractor has done in the past, comes into question. Product problems being attributed to environmental issues very well could be due to this installer's work.
New customers shouldn't be exposed to this, and old customers should have the right to know when dealing with potential claims that this installer has a history of poor workmanship and negligence. What also is bad is if improper acclimation issues (due to installation) were the source- because that's hard to prove once the material acclimates. If the installer was negligent to address moisture of the material (testing numerous planks and parts of the subfloor) during install - how do you blame the installer?
There are also questions about the use of the term "independent contractor" when the contractor is heavily reliant on Lumber Liquidator's for most of their work, but doesn't really do work for the general public. (Is that independent?). Lumber Liquidator's advertising certainly doesn't imply that "professional flooring specialist" is a useless term not intended to give the customer any sense of reassurance regarding the installer, the work they perform, or their warranty. The advertisements aren't of the nature that they are warning you--that if you use their suggested installers and if do your job with unqualified workers--you will be expected to let them do the repair work.
The whole contract is based on the premise that trained, experienced, professional, flooring experts will be doing the work. If work is not done as such, it's a failure to perform issue. Plain and simple. Deception isn't something the customer agrees to and anyone with integrity doesn't ask the consumer to expose themselves to more just because they were foolish enough to not consider that Lumber Liquidator's/HSS might actually expect them to.
Contract execution requires both parties to honor the agreement. When one side fails, the other side isn't forced to honor a broken agreement. I kind of feel like this is what HSS wants me to do, to expose myself to more headaches, risk, and a void warranty because the installer is careless and negligent. To make matters worse, when trying to determine the "experience" of my HSS installer, I googled the owners name. His unique name matches the records of a court case held in the same city where the defendant had multiple felonies used against his credibility in a Federal Court Case, where he lied to authorities numerous times to hide things. In the case the defendant was convicted of possessing a firearm by a felon. I suppose there is a chance it's not him if there are two people with the same last name, same middle initial, and same indicator of number of generation (for example, Jeff M. Smithers III, Jeff M. Smithers IV), living in the same area, but what are the chances of that?
Before I was aware of all of this, during the installation one of the workers had asked me if I worked at the jail, because he said "I looked like someone who worked there." It was a weird question, but I quickly convinced myself that maybe they did a job there... but now it makes me angry because I am a woman with a small child- how do I know who was in my house? You'd think a large chain store providing a referral service in reality, asking you to "trust HSS," would not mislead you to believe you can trust them if that is not what they want you to do.
I should have been notified if felons were working in my house so I could have had my husband home if that was the case. If Lumber Liquidators is alerted to specific installers misapplying product, and they passively allow HSS to make all issues "between the installer and customer" citing the warranty- aren't in effect facilitating a situation that helps them AVOID having to act to remove bad installers from their "authorized list" (because what they don't know they can't be responsible for- right? ) and at the same time DECREASING their future responsibility for warranties by increasing the likelihood of voided warranties due to installation errors?
I don't want to believe this, but I emailed a Matthew from Lumber Liquidator's about this, and my concern about HSS using installers that will likely void their long term warranties because the installations aren't being done correctly- he said it was between the installer and the customer. He did not indicate a concern about the overall misrepresentation of Morning Star's performance failing due to improper application by installers referred on behalf of Lumber Liquidator's.
I asked him about chipping I am now experiencing along with my installation problems, and asked for a Morning Star representative to view the floor- he refused citing pictures that he had regarding the installation, and avoided my concern about the new chipping I have experiencing. The HSS in my opinion does not put the performance of the LL products as a priority when it comes to selecting installers. I am so disappointed that I did everything right to try and avoid this. I shouldn't have had to go thru this.

My experience slap stunk. I drove all the way to Birmingham from Cullman to purchase laminate floor that Lumber Liquidators are blowing up their ad about. $0.49 of laminate that they don't even have there when I show up. A waste of my time and money. If you are not ready for business why even have an ad for it. I probably could have save money and time. If I would have just bought it at Lowe's instead of going to that rat hole of a store L.L. IN B-HAM.

We were shopping for flooring at Home Depot and Lowe's, but our installers suggested we buy the laminate wooden flooring from Lumber Liquidators situated at Toms River, NJ in November 2014. It's called KM Glacier Peak Poplar 12mm. That's the biggest mistake we did ever in terms of choosing a company that doesn't care for its customers.
After the floor was professionally installed, the surface of the laminate wood started peeling off. It had come with 20 years guarantee and we have the receipts and the guarantee document. By the way, when the boxes were being loaded in our van, the salesperson had to keep aside a number of them which were damaged. We should have got a hint from it that scrap is being sold. Hence wrote to the Manager of Lumber Liquidators at Toms River, NJ who can sense when they receive such letters of complaint and hence just did not possibly accept it. Followed it with a Certified Letter but they don't care. Thinking of filing a suit at Ocean County Civil Court. What a waste of over $800 dollars in material plus additional amount for installation. Beware. Worth shopping at Home Depot or Lowe's.

4 months ago I had this floor (Tranquility vinyl floating plank) installed by a LL contractor. A few days later 2 cracks appeared at the entrance of the bathroom. I contacted the installer and asked to have the planks replaced. After several attempts to get a reply, he just never got back to me to schedule a day. He even agreed to do this, but wouldn't schedule a day. Somehow this installer got approved for Angieslist. I vacuum this floor. Normally this is no big deal, but this floor scratches very easily just by vacuuming!
I contacted customer service, filled out all requested forms, took pictures, spoke to someone on the phone. Just yesterday I got a letter suggesting it was my fault and the way I live. They even copy/pasted and italicized a part of the warranty stating a list of issues that could cause scratches. This list is of everyday living scenarios! I'm not done with them to say the very least. I want a replacement or full refund of product and installation .

Well I put a laminate floor in on a continuous run in 3 rooms of my home. About 1 year later we had 3 boards that started to swell around the edges. One of the boards that swelled is adjacent to another that is still fine. We called LL customer service and filed a claim. Long story short it was an awful experience. They did not send any representative out to look at the floor. They basically asked us a million questions just looking for a way to not be responsible for the 3 boards.
So even though my floor was professionally installed, no water sources around, 1st floor with full basement underneath, the rest of the floor is cleaned in the same manner every time, I keep 30% humidity in that area all year round with humidity gauges present, no pets, no small kids, no water leaks anywhere as the rest of the floor is perfect... are you starting to see a pattern here? The problem is not the 3 boards, I have extra, it's just that I have to pay the contractor to replace those 3 boards which will take some work.
They basically sent me back a letter to inform me after waiting many months, that humidity in my home caused it, I can hire their inspector at my expense, use your own extra flooring for the repair... etc... etc. My contractor believes that because these floors are made under such high pressure that these boards somehow are defective form the beginning, and are now swelling up. As I said one board along a bad one is still perfect so it proves water did not get in there otherwise both sides would be bad. If normal humidity conditions were causing it to swell, then the product is not quality at all and should not be sold in humid climates.
The gal that was the customer service rep (Maria **) sounded like she was 13. She giggled during the entire interview and was clearly reading from a prepared question list and had to correct herself many time... with a giggle of course. There was not professional interaction at all. I knew more about flooring than she did by far. I will never buy another product for LL ever again. The least they could have done was to send me another box of product for my trouble. From now on I will use Lowes or Home Dept for my flooring as I know they stand behind their services from hearing others talk about it. LL is a disgrace, and couldn't even take the time or concern to help with with this matter. We love the floor so much and were devastated when this imperfection showed up. It's right in the middle of the kitchen to where is most visible.

When we came in the next morning they had all come up, the glue did not adhere to the prepared floor and all the edges came up. Only about 5 % had affixed to the floor. I called the store they sent me to head office to file a complaint to get some money back. I sent pictures and filed all necessary paperwork as instructed. Maggie (terrible talks over you and won't listen to complaints) gave me the major run around. She lied about the product.
I will never go back to this company. They sell inferior products then they don't stand behind their inventory. It's better to go to a company who will work with customers. I would tell anyone who is looking for flooring it's better to pay a little more upfront than to be sold a bill of goods then be lied to and cheated.

I bought the five-inch plank oak hardwood floors in the cappuccino stain. The wood was not at all like the sample. The variations were night and day. It was supposed to be a nice solid brown stain but the wood that came was almost black, only 20 percent were the stain that I had ordered. Not only were there variations in the stain, but the top coat had bubbles all throughout it. There were bleach specs all through it and damaged pieces. The top coat has bubbles all throughout it. It almost looks like a sticker goes on top of the wood and peels off and bubble up. The floor have been installed for 2 months and the stain is peeling up majorly. I am very unhappy. My builder tells me that if one of their specialist come out, they will not make a claim and in their dealings with them, they have never done anything about the problems consumers have. I am very unhappy with my floors and really want to sell my house because I can't afford 15k for new floors. I paid $5.99 a sq foot for ugly wood floors that don't even look like real wood. Do not trust the samples! Your disclosure pretty much says you can get all types of variations and spots and you have to keep it! On top of that, I have huge gaps because the floors shrunk majorly a month after being installed.
Hi Kristen,
Very sorry to hear there's been a problem and I viewed the Customer Care system and see no record of you contacting our office to share any concerns. We will reach out to you today. For the record, samples displayed in the store are cut from the same material in the warehouse used to fill orders, not from a different stock of flooring. I'm not sure why you would proceed with the installation if the material was different as our instructions ask that you call the store right away if there's a problem to avoid reaching a point of installation where the products deemed "accepted". The photos attached show signs of damage and moisture problems. Your builders comments are unfounded and absolutely untrue. Reality is the photos I viewed show what are installation concerns which the builder would be responsible for so this is likely why he is not willing to pursue the matter. I will ask a member of our Customer Relations team to solve this problem by way of third party inspection. This independent assessment of the floor will remove both LL and the Builder from the problem so a proper assessment can be made independently. If fault with the manufacturing of the product is found we will gladly hold the manufacturer accountable to correct the floor. If this is an installation issue, your builder will become the responsible party. If there is a combination of the two, LL will work with the builder to supply product with the understanding the builder needs to offer the labor required to correct the floor. The gaps in the floor are a telltale sign something has gone wrong and the disclaimer you mention is not meant for extreme variations to suggest a mix of two different products were delivered, so the best advice once you received the materials would have been to call the store so we could investigate and swap out material versus moving forward with the installation for a product you are ultimately not happy with. We will contact you today and apologize for this turning into a negative experience. We will work with you and your builder to reach a better place.

We purchased the floor in the early part of last year. At first everything seemed fine. In August we noticed that floor was coming apart and curling on the corners. We called to have them come back to fix it. Trying to get a hold of the installer is very hard and it is same with trying to get a return phone call. When the repairman got there, he did not have the paperwork needed to be signed before he could do the work. He had someone email it my work, which I had to print off and have my elderly mother drive to my house.
They told us it was our fault that it is pulling apart and curling at the ends. They replace the section of the flooring with panels that sat in my cold basement that was not the same temp as my other flooring. He was 2 hours and I was charged $100. Even though he only did 15 mins of work. I feel if he was better prepared I would not be out $100. At first I told customer service that I was somewhat satisfied with the work. Then the last few weeks we noticed that more of the wood is starting to curl in the corners. I have called and left message with no return calls. I love my hardwood floors. I purchased Tranquility vinyl laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators for my business. My choice was based on their recommendation. The materials were installed by a licensed contractor. The flooring has a 50 residential/20 year commercial warranty. It started to break after 3 months and it has gotten worse - I have broken pieces everywhere.
I submitted a warranty claim and photos to Lumber Liquidators. Without anyone looking at the floor, they denied the claim saying I must have dragged something heavy across it. This is a specialty grocery store with only foot traffic. After repeated contacts through the Better Business Bureau, LL sent an "independent" inspector to look at the floor. She reported that the issues were due to the installation. Multiple contractors have looked at the floor and laughed at her conclusion.
Not long after I opened my store (2 years ago), a salon located four doors down the street opened with the exact same flooring. On 7/17/14 ** had more questions in her "investigation". However, before I could address them, the very next morning on 7/18/14 ** sent an email indicating that "Chipping can be the result of the installer forcefully tapping the planks together with a mallet or tapping block, improper maintenance, dropped objects or an excessive amount of topical moisture intrusion. Not all impact damage is completely visible during installation but appears over time as the floor is being occupied." Essentially indicating that the damage was my fault and that Lumber Liquidators flooring isn't long lasting. Apparently after just a few months I should expect my floors to fall apart. It is very apparent that a decision had been made prior to the completion of this so-called "investigation".
On 7/20/14 I notified ** of my extreme disappointment and my unwillingness to throw away thousands of our hard earned dollars on defective flooring. I am highly dissatisfied with this purchase. Next year or in 2016 my last room will be our kitchen and I will officially have done the whole house. 450 sq living room, all 3 bedrooms and miscellaneous hallways. We love our hickory and imitation pine, Australian cypress --- looks like pine but better in our eyes with our 90 lb. dog who isn't fragile with the floors, ha ha. We purchase approximately 1000 square feet of laminate flooring and had it professionally installed. After 4 months of having floor we noticed that it was bubbling at seams in over 65 areas throughout the floor. We contacted lumber liquidators customer service, filed all required documents as per their instructions, sent photos and waited 2 weeks for them to tell us that the damage was moisture entrapment and was not covered by warranty. They mentioned this was the consumer’s problem and there is nothing they can do. How can a floor 4 months old installed per their instructions have a moisture entrapment problem in more than half the floor? This is unacceptable and should have been handled with better customer service. I will never buy or refer anyone to lumber liquidators. Make sure you fully understand the warranty and do not take a verbal acceptance for coverage from their salesperson. We did not but noticed that the claims filed were due to warranty issues and not reading the fine print. This was a floor 4 months old and it looks as if it has been installed years ago.

We bought laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators a year and a half ago. Since then we have several scratches and dents. This is all caused from just normal walking on the floor. All the furniture have felt pads on the bottoms and we've only used products to clean the floor that were made for laminate. We've had laminate in the past and never had these problems. When we file the claim we were told that scratches were not covered. And had I read the fine print you can't walk on the product with shoes. Really? Nailing it down was a snap with the nail gun purchased with the order. The floor looked beautiful. Now 3 years later it looks even more fantastic as the golden color has darkened a bit with sunlight exposure. The installation was in a lakeside home so the natural pine fits in well with the area. It turned out GREAT and I am VERY HAPPY with the results. Be sure to estimate the amount you'll need so you buy enough flooring and don't run out. I had to make 2 extra trips to get more and the 2nd trip was for 2 boxes. I entered in after visiting many big name stores that sold flooring, and never felt as at home as I did at LL. The gentleman who helped me out, Shawn, was phenomenal. He walked me through laminates and hardwoods, and took the time to explain that not all laminates are created equal. He mentioned that LL had contractors who could do the installation at a great price, but when I mentioned to him I wanted to do the work myself, he instilled the confidence in me that I could actually do it. The entire team was friendly, knowledgeable, and cooperative. I walked a week later, and Shawn looked up, and addressed me by name.
I ended up getting the 12 mm vintners reserve laminate, but not before taking a box home to see how it would lay out in our newly purchased condo. There is no guess work figuring your needs and no phrases like "limited quantities" or "2 at this price." I find this approach most satisfying. I purchased my retirement home on July 29, 2014. Based on recommendations from family members who used and installed products from LL, we purchased $10,000 of Morning Star Bamboo 5/8"x6' floor with Morning Star adhesive. Based on directions from store staff; we placed the packaging of flooring on studs in our house for 30 days and cut the ends off each end of the box to allow acclimation. I added a floor fan for air circulation and left the ceiling fan on 24 x 7 days a week. Temperatures outside here were 90-110 degrees; with the inside set at a constant 78 degrees (desert in S.Ca.).
After labor day, I paid a licensed flooring contractor with 25 yrs experience and highly recommended to install the flooring. The flooring was floated with MS adhesive on the concrete pad. A week later the install was complete and additional $4,000 for the install. 2 weeks after installation, cupping began in various places. Expansion points were left around edges of flooring 1/4"-5/8" as he has done in past installs.
After writing a letter to LL customer service with photos, their response was "SORRY but we are not responsible for moisture issues in the wood which is the cause of the problem." I have had 2 different licensed flooring contractors review the installation and they contend there was nothing done incorrectly by the installer. They stated moisture in the bamboo was the cause; likely because the product was milled and left with too much moisture in it which is a characteristic of bamboo. LL sold me 2 pallets of WET bamboo not KILN dried properly. My next step is to write the CEO.

I was extremely dissatisfied with the quality of the flooring. The flooring was clearly milled incorrectly and the varying widths caused severe gaps. There were several pieces that shattered as my installer nailed them. Also, many knots filled with a polyresin caused a terrible inconsistent finish. I contacted Lumber Liquidators and got the run around between corporate and the local store. The local store manager Bob, was absolutely wonderful and cooperative; however, his hands were tied and he referred me to corporate. The woman at the corporate office was extremely unpleasant. I informed her that I am in the process of building a brand new home and this defective flooring has postponed my move in date of 12/23. I needed an answer immediately on how I was to proceed with this flooring; however, they cannot help me until Monday, December 8th. She said it will take 10 days to investigate.
Clearly, I am disgruntled. My lease runs out on 12/31 and I will be homeless. I had to pay an installer to install a defective product and NOW I have to pay him to tear it out, and then buy a new floor over. I expect to be fully compensated for this terrible mill run floor from China. After spending over $8000.00 in flooring, I would expect better customer support. I would expect to have this situation remedied immediately, not have to wait 10 days for them to investigate. I regret buying from Lumber Liquidators. If I bought this from Home Depot or Lowe's and had issues, they would have given me my money back immediately. DON'T waste your time or your money taking a chance with Lumber Liquidators.

We bought Bellawood Bronze Ultra-Strand Bamboo from Lumber Liquidators. This Bellawood Bronze Ultra-Strand Bamboo SKU# 10027684 is not what you think it is. While it is true that is a solid hardwood, the grain pattern is printed on the surface like a cheap laminate. Perhaps some would not find a problem with that. Most I'm sure would expect the beauty of a natural bamboo finish especially at a premium price, not some printed pattern like a cheap $.69 laminate. The printing is of such poor quality and noticeable. The "grain" repeats itself precisely every 47 1/4". I returned this fake to this store and got "whacked" with a 20% restock. Really?
The store manager refused to look at my "evidence" and discounted the fact that it was printed, stating no Bellawood product is printed. Even discounting the fact that the "grain" repeats itself with exacting detail. It would be impossible in nature. Take a clump of shredded grass (bamboo is a grass), glue it together, then saw it into planks and have the same exact pattern on every board in every carton. Funny how the in-store display sample and the take home sample are not "fake" and printed. Classic case of bait and switch. What a joke. If you have this junk in your house, break out your tape measure and loupe and take a look for yourself. Disclaimer: I have been in the printing industry over 20 years. I have an idea of what printed product looks like and the processes involved.

We purchased St. James 12mm Nantucket Beach laminated from LL in Bolingbrook, Il. We installed 144sqft over a concrete floor in our family room. We used the blue moisture barrier over the concrete. We have had this for several years and it is still fine. It is not easy to install and there were a few pieces that we could not use. That is true of any flooring. You have to work at getting the joints "snapped" together. In the family room the main floor is covered with an area rug. There is no blistering, no pulling apart, no discoloring. We installed the same in a 6ft x 14ft hallway; this was laid over the old tile. This is about 1 1/2 year old and looks great. The people in the store were nice and even helped ship some extras to a store in Rockford for my son to pick up. We have since done a 10ft x 16ft room in the bamboo finish of the same material and are planning to do our living room/dinning room of about 400 sqft in the same Beach. We are very pleased.

What I originally thought was a great deal on a small lot purchase became a huge liability when a home inspector during a real estate sale identified the naturally occurring defects in the wood were the result of a Wood Destroying Insect infestation. An active WDI infestation can cause damage to the flooring and wood structure of a home. I spent $135.00 to hire an entomologist to determine that the infestation was inactive. Lumber Liquidator's customer service declared it an installation error even though the manager and assistant manager in the store in Cleveland OH admitted that this was the first time they had seen a (Wood Destroying Insect) Powder Post Beetle infestation. Which brings me to my original assumption; this was an uncommon occurrence and this was a defective product.
Unfortunately Lumber Liquidator corporate takes the stance that once the box is opened it is non-returnable due to installation error. Yes you can find a great deal from this company, but let the buyer beware. I would suggest that you check each box on the dock. I am including a picture of a Powder Post Beetle (Wood Destroying Insect) infestation.

The advertisement showed one several "sale" items are $2.50 a sq foot for hardwood flooring. They get you in and none of the sale items is available. They create a perception of scarcity. I got upsold to a product for twice the price and half the quality. When I got it home I found what was in the boxes was the product I told the manager I did not want. I am stuck with 500 feet of substandard flooring.

We purchased 400-500 square feet of black bamboo flooring from Lumber Liquidators for our kitchen and bathroom. After two years, we have a MESS in our house. Our "black" floors are now streaked with natural bamboo color and the whole thing will have to be sanded to remove the finish. That will be both messy AND expensive. LL says it's all our fault because WE MOPPED THE FLOORS with something other than the product they sell. Not only were we not told about their product, there's nothing about how to clean the floors in the flooring box literature either. So we used mild vinegar-water solution recommended on lots of websites. All we asked for was to be reimbursed for the cost of refinishing the floors. All they will offer is more of the product to replace what's damaged. Since only parts of the floor have lost their finish, we would have to trust that the rest of the finish won't fail in the future. None of this matters to LL. I have photos of the damaged areas on our floors and the letter from LL to prove they are happy to hold us totally responsible for what happened with their product.

I did not end up purchasing from Lumber Liquidators. I wanted to purchase the Silver Strand bamboo. I was assured the product would work well with evaporative cooling by a sales rep. For some reason I felt he really didn't know and did my own research online. I returned to ask further questions. If I decided to purchase, I wanted to purchase during a widely advertised sale to save money. The Silver Strand was on sale but they had raised their prices first so there really wasn't much of a sale and the savings were not what they would have been.

We have been trying to get Lumber Liquidators from the Denver, Colorado area to come out and do an estimate for a wood flooring job. We started 3 weeks ago. After calling this estimator back he told me he never got the email. He then said he didn't need the pictures now and that he would have one of his estimators contact me for an appointment.
A week goes by and I hear nothing. I call the Lone Tree Colorado store and tell them about the issues I am having in getting an estimate. The guy represents himself as the store manager and is completely confrontational with me. He makes me feel A complete jerk and then after belittling me for 5 minutes he gives the number of the Manager of installs. He tells me to call him. It's about a week later and still no contact. After all the good things the DIY and Home Improvement TV shows have been saying about bamboo, we purchased (from Lumber Liquidators in San Antonio, TX) the silver strand Morning Star Bamboo for two offices in my home to replace the Pergo laminate we had for 13 years (Pergo had NO issues). We added a subfloor of 3/4 good plywood (not particle or cheap-grade ply). Ply was glued and "shot" w/ nails into the concrete. Bamboo was acclimated in my home for several weeks and then installed using the glue down method. Space was left around the perimeter for breathing of the materials.
About 3 months after professional install, one area has lifted off the sub floor (buckling), the rest of the floor looks to be lifting/swelling at the joints (cupping). I can hear "hollow" pockets in other areas. I'm so perplexed how this material can get such RAVE reviews but then have SO many issues. I'm not going to bother contacting Lumber Liquidators because they will only blame the installer. I witnessed personally the entire process and materials and method used. It was the approved standard. For those reading considering bamboo, I'm not sure if it's the brand (was not cheapest at $5+ per sq ft) or the humidity in San Antonio (we have a lot) but I'd make sure to do intensive and repeated moisture testing of the air (RH) and subfloor before installing.

We purchased St. James 12 mil. laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators. We installed the flooring in every room of our condo using Lumber Liquidators premium padding/moisture barrier. The installation instructions were worthless, but we did manage to install the flooring and it looked beautiful, for about 2 weeks. After that very short period of time and over $5000 later we started to notice blistering. We went back to Lumber Liquidators and were told we would have to contact the manufacturer. We asked for the name of the manufacturer and were given a number.
We called the number repeatedly and received no response. We looked up the warranty online, we were told and had in writing, a very brief 30-year residence and 5-year commercial warranty. We were told or given their actual warranty. Lumber Liquidators warranty only covers if the finish is worn down to the paper. The flooring also has to have more than 5% of the square footage damaged. Our floor has scattered blistering, separation at the edges and chips where there is no cause. Lumber Liquidators does not cover "moisture damage".
When I complained I was told by their sales staff that it had to do with moisture! Not one person will look at our floor. If it is moisture damage should it not be contained to the moist areas of our home? Lumber Liquidators should be held accountable for their defective products. Our floor is one year one month old and if I could afford to replace it, I would.

I paid 2000 for this floor so I called Lumber Liquidators office and spoke to Olesya. She was very kind and seem to be helpful, asked me what I wanted. What I wanted was a beautiful hardwood floor, not a piece of crap floor that I got. You can't walk on it or is it has foot prints all over it from your feet. I had people over and I'm talking no children, people over 55. When they left, there were so many marks all over the floor it was embarrassing.

We ordered some wood flooring by phone with lumber liquidators and the woman I spoke to sounded very nice and helpful. The problem was, she wasn't honest. In addition, after emailing me the confirmation of order, she wouldn't respond to any further communication from me. She told me the flooring was at the store location, but the transition pieces were being ordered and the store would call when they came in. We specifically spoke about us going to pick up the flooring so we could get started. When I called the store to let them know we were coming and get an update since no one had contacted us, they told us the flooring would not arrive for at least 2 weeks. However, the gentleman called another store and said they had the flooring and arranged for us to pick it up there. When I called ahead to make sure it was okay that the order was in my name but my husband was going to pick it up - the representative was rude and unhelpful and very clearly indicated he couldn't be bothered.
When my husband arrived they gave him boxes that had clearly been damaged in areas and one box was completely ripped open. They insisted these were the only boxes of the product that they had and refused to replace the damaged boxes. After much insisting and argument, they finally agreed to note the receipt that the boxes were damaged. If you know about wood floors, then you know, you are not supposed to open the boxes until ready to install the floor so that it is not exposed to moisture or elements that could warp or deface the product. My husband said the store was filthy and the representative acted like it was a trial to do his job. We'll see when we go to install the floor if it's damaged from their incompetency or not. Hopefully we really will receive the transition in 2 weeks like they said, but if I had to take odds, I would bet against that going smoothly in any way.

A very unpleasant experience. Lumber Liquidators (Store #1301) did not deliver all the wood we paid for; they delivered a little more than half. I didn't realize this until the next week when my carpenter came out to install. He said I should have 23 bundles. I only had 14.5 bundles. When I called the manager he asked me if my wood was secure during that week. YES. We signed the delivery paperwork. YES, BUT the paperwork does NOT state how many bundles there was. How are we supposed to know what 455 s.f. looks like. His answer? "Who doesn't think to ask?" That was seriously his answer. Their delivery guy missed the window and we had to reschedule for later in the day. I told the manager that wood was on and off the truck (b/c a different truck delivered) and some must have been left off. He said it wasn't on and off a truck. But, it was b/c the driver told me that the wood was going off his truck and would be delivered later.
Manager told me that since we signed papers, everything 'checks out' and we did get all the wood delivered. NO WE DIDN'T. I submitted claim to Visa. Lumber Liquidators countered. I countered Lumber Liquidator's counter and Visa sided with us. The manager handled this very poorly. Someone wasn't telling the truth. Lumber Liquidators did not support their customer, and this took entirely too much time and my part.
Update: My mother-in-law sent me a text w/in five minutes of the delivery with a PICTURE (letting me know the wood was delivered). 14.5 bundles. JUST LIKE WE SAID. I found this text w/ picture later. I have that picture, with the date and time. Picture is ATTACHED. The Customer WAS right. Lumber Liquidators provided very sub-par service. Both with delivery AND Customer Service. My wife and I purchased a bamboo floor with a floating installation. We hired a professional installer, who laid the floor. We followed all the guidelines about storing the floor and acclimating the product and using all the materials that were recommended. This product was installed using the same subfloor that was carpeted before. Nothing was installed without the thick pad under lament. None of the house was new construction. The house is 30 years old, so any additional settling would be minimal and it is a FLOATING floor.
The floor was installed in October and by December we were noticing some gaps. By January, the gaps were getting larger. A few weeks later, the floor was buckling up in 3 or 4 places, coming off the floor at least an inch or two, like little teepees all over. We called the store and got the usual runaround. Had to call LL customer care, send in paperwork and photos, and received a packet of info on how to fix the issue, but it was not their issue- they would not send a rep to examine anything. We called the installer to come and look. He has been laying floor for 30 years - had never seen anything like it. He removed the floor, pulled out all the broken teepee pieces, replaced them with new, and re-laid the flooring, which we could then put the trim on.
The floor was fine for about 6 weeks, then started to buckle again, no gaps this time. It went right to the teepee again, an upside down V. Now it's actually splitting the wood, not at the seam but next to it. We have called and called and called to anyone and anyone to get this floor looked at. LL has sent us a list of inspectors that WE CAN PAY FOR to get our flooring looked at.
This company is a joke. They have no customer service and they could care less about a repeat customer. This is one of worst experiences of a simple remodeling project. It has held up finishing for months and keeps costing us money all the time. We recently bought a new house and were ripping out all of the flooring. We spoke at length with a salesman at Lumber Liquidators on every aspect of the current flooring, sub-flooring, our lifestyle (we have a big dog that sheds and has thick nails), you name it. We ended up buying dark bamboo strand floors - the salesman assured us this was the most durable. He also assured us we'd have to glue the flooring down, even though it's click strand, because we were covering such a large area with no transitions - fine, until the flooring glue cost us over $1,000 in addition to the $6,000+ I was already spending on flooring.
By the time we got all of the current flooring ripped out and new sub-flooring put down, we clicked together all of the flooring only to notice how spongy and springboard-like it was. We had two contractors stop by our house and BOTH advised to not use the glue as it wouldn't fix the problem - it just wouldn't take to the areas that were spongy/springy. When I inquired about returning the glue, I was told I couldn't because it was past the 30-day return period. I e-mailed corporate (Tom Sullivan, chairman - except it just goes to "office of Tom Sullivan") hoping they'd consider helping me out in this debacle since I spent so much money.
After an initial response claiming they were turning my request over to an Order Support Group Specialist, I have not a heard a THING from them and it's been 3 weeks - I've sent several additional follow-up e-mails asking them to advise on status. NOTHING. In the meantime, we now cannot install the $40k in kitchen cabinetry because our contractor refuses to install over top of the current flooring because of the poor quality, telling us we will have nothing but issues and it will compromise all of our cabinetry. Awesome. I still have 60 boxes of unopened flooring we haven't put down yet, and I cannot return those, either.
This has been an absolute nightmare. In addition to writing e-mails to their corporate office, I've also written a letter to HGTV since LL advertises so heavily with them, yet refuses to take accountability when they've advised a customer inaccurately or provided an incompatible solution. It is unacceptable. I advise any of you who have similar issues consider contacting HGTV - until they hear the horror stories from how many DIYers and other customers who are HGTV fans have been screwed over by Lumber Liquidators, we will continue to have to sickeningly put up with their lousy advertisements, which personally make me want to vomit every time I see one.

I regret ever setting foot in this place. I had gone in asking for unfinished floor and told the salesperson I wanted the hardest wood I could afford. I told the salesperson that I have four kids, two cats, and maybe a dog someday and that I was looking for something as durable as possible. The salesperson told me that what I should not get unfinished flooring, that what I should get is prefinished bamboo Bellawood. He told me that if I get unfinished flooring and have it finished that the polyurethane will be easily scratched. He went as far as saying something like, "I'll sell you whatever you want, but if you want something durable, this is what you need". He convinced me.
The best looking color in my price range and in stock was a dark brown which was a lot darker than I had envisioned or wanted but I purchased it. Since it was installed I've been having nothing but problems with the floor. It has not been durable at all. Within three weeks of installation, it had 10+ chips in the finish, and scratches also. More have appeared since then. Pretty much every time something falls on the floor, there is a new chip. The floor is extremely high maintenance, cheap, and the opposite of durable.
I contacted corporate but they will not help me, they say, because I've used a steam vacuum on the floor. LL says you are not supposed to use any water to clean it. Impossible. The floor constantly looks dirty because of the dark color and high traffic in my house. That would have been a good thing for the salesperson to tell me before purchasing. The steam vacuum I use leaves very minimal water on the floor also. After contacting corporate, I was told that there are specific care instructions that can void your warranty if you don't follow, but I was never told where to find these instructions. The store does not provide the customer with them or even tell the customer they exist. Shady, shady, shady.
I've since read numerous consumer reviews, one of which from a former LL branch manager stating how shady the company is. I wasted thousands on flooring that is extremely CHEAP, and completely wrong for my lifestyle. Oh, and when I tried to contact Bellawood directly to see if they would help, guess what I found out? He did not use the typical humidity excuse as told him I had all my trim replaced in the home and said if it was humidity all the pine trim would be shrinking.
I also had an OAK floor installed in the kitchen, Perfect condition, No problem. He had nothing to say and his Karma days are going to come around someday. He's on the payroll. Anyway, GE Capital wanted their $$ and closed the dispute without getting any results from LL and their inspectors. Seems LL customer service would not return their calls either. So back to Square 1. We all need to band together and fight these Rip Offs. If I did this in my business, I'd be out of business. Their Business practices are the worst. Even if you have NO $$$ left for lawyers, contact the Better Business Bureau. Contact your State Attorney General, Contact your local politician.
I'd like to call the Police to charge them with stealing, false misrepresentation and downright lying. I thought I bought the best, was not afraid to spent extra for 30-year warranty of a care-free flooring, didn't last 30 weeks. There are a few case action suits I am going to try and get in on. You should too... We all need to band together. I am going to start a Facebook page Lumber Liquid Ripped Us Off or better yet Lumber Ripanators. If we get enough people, then maybe someone would listen. Can you image 10 disgruntled customers in every store they operate on a busy Saturday, telling potential customers their experiences? I think LL has taken advantage of enough of us that we can make it happen. You can cry about the loss of $$, and vent here on the web, or we can take control of the situation, band together and get want we want - a good product for the good $$ we spent. We are all out thousands of $$$, countless hours of useless talking, writing emailing, etc... So taking a few hours to make your voice heard, is as they say PRICELESS.... We asked Lumber Liquidators to recommend installers. We also asked the approximate cost of installation. We were told it would be about $2 per sq ft. The installers quoted $5. We got a second quote and found that the installers not only over charged but told us we needed 550 feet of wood when in actuality we need 325 feet. When we complained to lumber liquidators they were not surprised and offered to see if they could get the installers to "come down". Looks like they are making money off unaware customers who trust them.

I purchased $6000 of morningstar bamboo from Lumber Liquidators in Jan 2012 and $3000 more in adjacent room on same floor in April 2012. Approximately 6 months after installation the $6000 floor began to show gaps and shrinkage. The 2nd installation has been trouble free. I contacted the LL store and they said not our problem. Contacted LL customer service and they told me it was my fault due to humidity levels in my home. If that were the case the $3000 floor would also show gaps and shrinkage since they are next to each other! Their salesman never mentioned any problem with this wood and humidity. Salesman said the wood was "tougher than oak". What a lie! It scratches plenty! They offered $200 on a $1000 repair contingent on me waving any future claims. What a joke!

Buyer Beware and I can't stress this more! If you buy this flooring, you will be sorry. My husband and I purchased about 500 square feet of this flooring for our dining room and living room in June 2013. Within 2 months, the floor started to separate and became unclicked from the locking mechanism. This floor was installed without the baseboard. After 2 months, I now have a 1 1/2 inch gap that runs along my entire wall when measured from the baseboard, not from the wall. I also have 3 other gaps right in the middle of the floor. Six months later, installers (which were referred by Lumber Liquidators) came back and added a transition in my hallway which I did not want but let them do it if it would solve the problem. Not more than 3 months after that, my floor is still separating. This is obviously a defective floor. I have contacted Lumber Liquidators and they have more loopholes than you can imagine to wash their hands of the situation. I have done everything by the guidelines, buying a humidifier, cleaning of the floor and have baby sat this floor from the day it was installed. Lumber Liquidators will do everything and anything to prove it's not their responsibility. They are "NOT" a reputable company. After this experience, I wouldn't recommend buying any type of flooring from Lumber Liquidators.

On April 27, 2013, in good faith, I placed a $2,000 deposit on Lumber Liquidators Brazilian Teak Bellawood Flooring at their lower Manhattan store months before it was to be delivered. On June 27, 2013, I paid the balance in full of $7,032.11 in advance of the delivery on July 1, 2013. The flooring was delivered to a New York Apartment where I do not reside. Lumber Liquidators knew I would not be there to sign for it or inspect the materials. Yet they assured me it would be delivered perfectly and put into the corner of the empty apartment. The building manager gave them access to my apartment. His signature merely indicated the flooring was delivered by them and placed inside the apartment by them. They said I inspected it and signed for it. I was in PA, which they knew and had called me there for the credit card information.
Lumber Liquidators delivered flooring was defective, wet and damaged, in broken boxes that registered a very high moisture level, even months later, by contractors as well as one of Lumber Liquidators' own flooring installer. As further proof that defective flooring was delivered, Freightstar, the confirmed delivery company, listed on the Bill of Lading, adamantly denied making the delivery.
I contacted Lumber Liquidators numerous times via phone. Then each person referred me to someone else and told me to contact him or her, and/or that the call would be returned. The most troubling thing was (and I realize now it worked to my disadvantage and misplaced trust) that each person I spoke with - Diego, Danny, Yolanda, Sedina, Irving, Marlon - was very nice and acted quite shocked about the situation and promised to "look into it and get back to" me. And I was silly enough to wait and trust. I'm smarter than that. But I also could not believe a company would get away with this and still be allowed to stay in business.
I sent emails, photos, details, affidavits, and bar codes as they requested, after which they promised "to take care of it." They kept requesting the same information. I kept requesting that they pick up the flooring, all still in the original broken, damaged boxes, and refund the $9,032.11. They promised to refund it once they received the documents. But they delayed, deflected, diverted and denied. Now they're lying about everything, including receiving phone calls, complaints and the delivery.
Run! Don't Walk! Away from any Lumber Liquidators store and save yourself years of aggravation. I live in PA but the flooring was purchased and delivered in NY. Anyone interested in a class action suit, please feel free to contact me. They have to stop getting away with fraud and be shut down once and for by the Attorneys General of each state in which they try to do business.

I bought almost 1000 sq ft of their top-of-the-line bamboo flooring in March/April 2013. It acclimated in the house for almost 1 month prior to installing. It was installed exactly as the directions stated. Before purchasing, I was assured by the manager of the store that there was a 30-year warranty - if there was any problems, they would replace the floor. The floor looked beautiful until Jan. 2014 when gaps started to appear. The store told me to purchase their colored caulk & fill in the gaps. I did. The gaps continued to grow.
When I called customer service from the store in March, they told me the manager had to file a complaint. He did. The corporate offices sent me a set of papers to fill out, send in pictures & a sample of my floor. I had the manager come to the house. He said the floor was defective & needed to be replaced, took his pictures, my pictures of the install in progress & finished so they could see the progression. A piece of my floor 6' x 1' was removed & sent to corporate the next day. 3 weeks later, I received a notice that they were going to close out the complaint since they hadn't received the form, pictures, or sample.
I called, left messages, & e-mailed informing them that everything had been sent in. The store manager did the same. I asked to have someone contact me immediately. The store manager said they aren't returning his calls. When I called & asked to speak with a supervisor, they said he was on the phone. I said I would wait. I was told that wasn't permitted & sent me to a voice-mail asking for a return call. I have called several times over the last 2 months. They claim they have only one call recorded & I had to talk to the claims person. She never returns calls or e-mails.
I finally received a letter back saying that shrinkage was to be expected & the house needed to be kept between 60-80 degrees with 30-50% humidity at all times & suggested I purchase a whole house humidifier - I live in CO - this is not acceptable - I also don't have a/c. I asked the store manager about this claim & why wasn't I informed of this requirement. He stated he had never been told that & couldn't have known. There is nothing in the paperwork I received that stated this or I would NEVER have purchased it.
I also have different wood floors in other parts of my house - they haven't shrunk. The manager had an installer come by & I was told they could put T-joints in the middle of the floor & fill in some of the gaps but this would just be a short term solution that the floor would continue to shrink. I had an independent flooring contractor come out to look at the problem. He wrote down that the floor was defective & should be replaced & the T- joint is not the answer. I tried calling corporate again - the claims person's phone went to Voice-mail. I asked to speak with a manager. They were "all in meetings & couldn't be disturbed". I left voice-messages for a manager & claims person & was told that the customer service rep would send both e-mails asking them to return my calls. I asked to be transferred to the President of Lumber Liquidator or his secretary and was told they weren't allowed to do that nor could they give out the phone number.
The rejection of my claim stated I could get an independent evaluation through a certified and licensed wood specialist - I called & was told that they would need to write up an estimate which would require 1/2 payment up front & 1/2 when they finished their report. I spent at least $10K on flooring from Lumber Liquidators. I shouldn't have to pay for an inspector when their own manager saw & stated the floor was defective. He called his regional manager & was told there was nothing the regional manager could do.
At this point all I want is my money back - they can have the floor. I am furious with the absolute lack of response by the corporation. I was also told in March by the store manager that he was having numerous complaints about this product doing the same thing. Buyer beware: they don't stand behind their product or warranties and don't return phone calls. I have included just a few pictures of some of the problem areas. It is now almost 6 months since I first notified the store of the problem & more than 3 months since the manager came to my house & notified corporate of the problem. I still have not received a single phone call back from the corporate offices & the store manager says they don't return his calls either.

In January of 2013 we purchased 545 sqft of their St. James Collection Szechuan Ming Bamboo laminate that has a 12mm pad attached. We installed this product as directed under the supervision of a contractor friend. We let the product sit in the room it was being installed in for 1 week. The instructions said we only had to wait 48 hrs. Since installing this product, we have had to replace many planks that chipped when things were dropped on them. We even had to change several out after a friend came over and wore high heels and the floor chipped where she walked. The final straw was when we returned from an overnight trip and found over half of the boards in our kitchen curled on the edges. We had a family member stay while we were gone. When we came in the door, we could hardly open the door because the planks were so curled. The family member said nothing had been spilled on the floor. We went to the local store to discuss the "30year warranty" that the product carries.
The staff at the store was very unprofessional and rude. When we showed them a picture he instantly said it was water damage and not covered under any warranty. We told him that nothing had been spilled on the floor and for as much damage as there was that there would had to been a very large puddle. I have spilled water on the floor before and wiped it up and never had this happen, so why now? We told him that the only fluids that have been on the floor was Bona laminate floor cleaner and he said that's why then because it is a water product. We have been using this product for a long time and never had this problem. I asked him then how were we suppose to clean the floor and he said that they sell a cleaning kit and pointed at it. And guess what, the kit contains a bottle of fluid for cleaning the floor. He said that there was nothing he could do and we could try and call customer care and see what they said. He leaned on the counter in the store for almost the entire time.
Customer Care was contacted when we got home and they asked questions about where it was installed, how it was installed and stuff like that, then said that we had to fill out these forms and emailed them to me. When I got the forms, they all asked the same questions we already answered. They even wanted to know if we had homeowners/renters insurance and if we filed a claim. These forms were completed and emailed back. We are waiting to hear back.

However, an inspector from Lumber Liquidators detailed and photo documents of discoloration, open grains in multiple areas on the face of the boards and there was no stain in the open voids of the boards. I asked them if the reason is the storage conditions and they said no, the humidity and temperature in this room are perfect.
I asked them if they saw before this kind of defect and they said yes, they saw 3 times. I sent all the forms and pictures required by their customer support and after two months my complain was denied with the resolution that me, the customer, I did something, they don't know what, so I am responsible. This is Bellawood, 100 years structural warranty. At the time of installation I purchased, materials for about $1000 that can be returned for refund in 30 days. In July 2013, I purchased approx. 300 sq ft of bamboo flooring Lumber Liquidators with the expressed requirement that it be solid flooring. I did not want a floating floor and I was advised that the product that I have chosen is not for a floating floor. When installing, they discovered under the rug tiles. They stated that the floor could not be glued but must be installed using a better method with better weather protection, self adhesive underlay. I was assured at the time that it would lay flat and be solid to the floor.
At that time, I noticed that it was not flat to the floor but floating with hallow sounds. I was again told it would be solid to the floor in a few months. I waited a few months and it seemed to get worse. Made a complaint, someone came out from the company that did the installation and was advised that it would lie flat and that had one year to make another complaint and that I should wait.
In April 2014, seeing no improvement and getting worse, I made the second complaint. A company named All Flooring came out, made the inspection and reported to the company and me that the floor was consistent with a floating floor. I did not want a floating floor and made that request to all involved. Both the company making the installation and Lumber Liquidators state that they will have no further action with this complaint. In the meantime, the LL installer came to our house to measure and informed us that the floor we had purchased was not able to be floated, it had to be glued and installation was going to be double what we had expected. When the installer measured he also told us that we were going to need 4 more boxes of flooring than we originally ordered. Also, the installer said they were going to charge us $600 to tear our carpeting up and haul it away, ridiculous. The salesman at the store was emphatic that the floor we purchased could be floated. My husband and I went to Lumber Liquidators to pick out flooring for our master bedroom. We spent 3 hours in the store with a sales person because I went there thinking I wanted cork flooring, however when I saw all the hardwood options I changed my mind. First of all they were sold out of all the flooring that were promoted as great discounts everyday on my television for the past several weeks and pop ups all over the internet. Fine, I walked through pulling samples and looking. Every time I pulled a sample the sales person would say, "Well for you that price isn't xyz it will be 123" and it would be reduced from what was shown. In addition he would run into the back and return and say "yes we have that." Not sure why he couldn't in this day and age check the computer.
I finally made a decision and as I was paying reconfirmed that the flooring would be ready for my husband to pick up the next morning. We had my daughter and mother with us and arrived by car and couldn't take it with us rather than drive the 40 minutes back that day we said we would return the next morning. The next morning arrives, my husband drove to Lumber Liquidators and he is told "We don't have your flooring. It will not be here for 10 days based on shipping." My husband explained that we purchased it with the understanding that it was in stock and would be ready for us to pick up. They said "Sorry but we don't have anything to give you. We will call you in 10 to 15 days once it has arrived." My husband said "I want to let you know that once I tell my wife she will be calling."
He came home, told me what transpired and I was livid. I should let you in know that we purchased the flooring on Tuesday, it is now Wednesday and we needed to be on schedule with installing the floor Saturday. I called the store. Man answered the phone and after I identified myself he said “Oh, your husband was here. He said you would be calling. How can I help you?” I said “You can help me by having my flooring, which I paid for available for my husband to pick up.” He said (By the way, the sales person who sold us the flooring was unavailable, of course) "I do not have what you purchased but I will be happy to call you within 15 to 20 days when it arrives." I said “Not good enough. We need the flooring I paid for by Friday morning.” He said "That is impossible, even if I called another store close to our location the earliest it would arrive might be next Tuesday or Wednesday and I can't promise that."
I said “It is 2014 and your store is an hour from Wilmington, less than 2 hours from Charleston and 4 hours from Charlotte. Call one and arrange it to arrive by tomorrow.” He said "Our shipping doesn't work that quickly. The normal is 10 to 15 days and if I request a rush it would be 5 to 7 days". I said “In this day and age that is ridiculous. Even if you are using the original "Pony Express" those horses could get here quicker. Said "I don't know what else I can do for you." After going back and forth I finally said "What you are going to do is give me flooring that is equivalent in the color I chose and the quality I chose that will be ready to put into my husband's truck when he arrives in an hour. And keep in mind I will not pay one penny more for this flooring because you all created this error. I understand mistakes happen but you handled this as if you just didn't care. After all you already had my money."
They did end up providing us a new product. They claim it's a better quality. Is it better or something they had that they wanted to get rid of? But who knows, I will never believe what they say ever again. Very sad for them because I will never return and I have a family room, dining room and kitchen as well as 2 more bedrooms all needing new flooring in our remodel. But after this I will pay higher prices to someone else instead of being aggravated by being lied to which caused a great deal of my time to reach a resolution and really just gave me a huge headache! I wasn't even provided new or corrected documentation regarding the new flooring that I received. Funny I received an email regarding installation tips and new sales coming up but not one email asking me to provide feedback on my shopping experience.

I used to be a store manager for LL and I'm not disgruntled over my leaving them at all. But I am here to warn the public about them. They are extremely shady when it comes to warranty information - 10 out of 10 times they will not back up their claims. They will always blame the installers or you. It is very far and few that actually get a floor replaced. While we are extremely knowledgeable in the flooring we sell, we don't tell you everything you need know. Like bamboo - great product extremely durable but it scratches easily, Bella Premium and Bella Platinum underlayment are exactly the same product and you don't need to put it down with a laminate that already has a pad. It actually does not quiet it down. Never pay full price, it's a swap meet in the store, ask for discounts they will give it to you, and if they don't tell them you'll go down the street they will make concessions and give you a better price.
Don't worry about sales, go in the day after hell the week after and demand the price that it was marked at. Never pay a restocking fee for products you overbought, stick to your guns and tell them you want your money back. Bellawood isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, sure it's solid and sure it's refinish able but it's not any higher grade than any other floor. Read the reviews on the individual stores, 95% of them are true and just so you know we don't care about you, they just want your money and to get you for everything we possibly can. Again watch out, review what you are purchasing, ask a ton of questions and be knowledgeable in what you are purchasing. Good luck.

When we returned to the store the manager told us that there were problems like this and that he was told to tell us call the corporate office. Apparently corporate know how to make you jump through hoops... After repeated phone calls, emails pictures, they sent an independent inspector out to the house.
The idiot inspector states in his report that we didn't leave an expansion space. The problem is we have too much spaces. He further states the humidity in our house is too dry. That our home needs to have "30-50% humidity and a temperature range of 60-80 degrees F". Apparently you're not allowed to open your windows with this product. Purchased at least 1000 sq ft of Tranquility Black Mountain Maple 4mm click-connect flooring. Like other reviewers, we have been working with LL HQ Customer Service for well over 6 weeks now related to separating floors throughout our home. My worst suspicions are relayed in many reviews herein. We actually reached a human being on the first call to LL; however, it's been uphill & devious from there. We are receiving inbound emails they forward to us, such as the 'disclosure form', which I would describe as questions designed to set us up for a denial of refund. We were also advised verbally, and written in the cover letter of the disclosure form, was not to send floor pictures in too large an attachment, allegedly because larger files route directly to their junk mail. OK, that wasn't too unreasonable a request, so I PDF'd individual files and even compressed each when saving, and only emailed one at a time, to ensure the file size would route appropriately.
Not surprising given the reviews on this site, we emailed the disclosure form and floor images three different times, each time giving "Na Tasha" several days to response with a confirmation that she received them. The ONE time we finally got a response, it was to advise that nothing transmitted or was received, presumably under the guise that I sent too large a file in the email so it was my fault. When I replied back advising that one of the emails contained nothing more than the single disclosure form (a simple Word document) sent me originally & that it did not 'bounce back to me', there was NO response. Not to be defeated easily, I opted to take the old fashion route and mailed the disclosure form and floor pics via USPS, but this time with a return receipt and tracking.
The unwitting customer service clerk that my call routed to confirmed the name of the signature on my return rcpt is an employee in the mailroom - bingo! Although I now have documentation that they received the mail, the merry go round continues... as each time before, Na Tasha has allegedly been out ill and is working to clear her backlog of mail. I left her a VM 3 days ago, and no surprise, there has been NO response. Going to reach out one last time for a supervisor or manager level person, but don't hold out much hope that we'll get satisfaction for the defective product purchased. However, I'm undeterred and on a mission now and will likely escalate this to BBB, our Attorney General's Consumer Affairs office, and any other trade oversight authority I can come up with, as available.

We purchased $3600.00 of the Bellawood Golden Teak flooring from Lumber Liquidators for our living room. We also purchased the recommended high-priced stuff to go under it. We had it in the house for 3 months before the contractor could install it. When he began to install it, many of the pieces were bowed, short, and narrower on one end so it had cracks in the flooring. When we called Lumber Liquidators, they referred us to customer service. Because we waited 3 months before installing, they will not fix the problem. All we asked is that they replace what we couldn't use. We had no idea we were getting poor quality wood. I wish I had checked with the Better Business Bureau before purchasing this poor quality wood. They told us this was one of their harder woods.

My husband and I are looking to install hardwood flooring in our home. We were shopping a variety of locations and he suggested we try Lumber Liquidators. We visited them and chose a wood that we both liked, Morning Star Bamboo Flooring. The customer service rep highly recommended this flooring. Fortunately we were still shopping. After speaking with another company for estimates, they alerted us to the lawsuits against Lumber Liquidators in reference to that same Bamboo product. Needless to say they will not be getting our business.

Lost first level contents and flooring from Sandy. January 2013, made purchase of 800 sq ft of Morning Star Bamboo, $3661.78. Had their installers, Palermo to home to inspect and recommend how and when to install (another $1100). Had delivery, allowed floor to acclimate for specified 3-5 days. Their installers returned to install. By end of March, had some gaps. Called Lumber Liquidators, they called installers. Was assured that with full year of warranty for installation and product, allow it to go thru summer months.
July noticed scratches. While scratches are normal, these were white, not the bamboo color. Made claim to LL, was told to mail balance of floor for inspection. They received, said floor not at fault, never returned floor. Dec 2013, gaps grew to over 1/2 inch, separation from walls. Called Lumber Liquidators. Made claim on Dec. 2, repeated claim on Dec 13, 2013. January 17th, began follow up and no one called us. Googled issue online. Found we were one of many. Inspections began from LL and their installers, Palermo. They agreed separation not normal - many homes in area with issue.
Went to two of the LL stores. They agreed with issue and fault of floor and had numerous issues with customers and made changes to how they sell and allow acclimation of product. Three inspections were done, no issue at home cited. March inspection found moisture level now low in home. They are now blaming us. No one has record of 3 other inspections. Our gaps are all thru home from the front door on. As large as 1 inch in some spots. Unsightly and embarrassing. We had none of these issues with our floor before Sandy in its 5 year life. It is not our home, it is the product. Lumber Liquidators knows it. Every salesperson you ask in their store in my NY area cautions the purchaser not to buy this product. I don't know if the product was too wet when manufactured, or too dry or from endangered Tiger habitat as stated online, but we are so frustrated and embarrassed by our home's floor every day.

The first shipment of cherry wood was defective. One pallet had to be returned/replaced because it was mis-milled (off by 1/8-1/4"). Within six months of installation, the wood had shrunk, causing gaps in the flooring. Also, the water-based polyurethane protective coating had begun to peel away on the edges of the floorboards. I reported this to Lumber Liquidators on 2/14/14 and finally, on 3/28/14, they sent an independent flooring inspector to assess the cause. His report indicated that the causes were due to environmental issues: The home environment humidity level was not kept to 30-50%, which caused the wood to contract and the flooring coating to peel.
The requirement to keep my home at 30-50% humidity level was never disclosed to me PRIOR to purchase during the marketing/sales/research process; instead I was advised of it AFTER the installation was complete, being expected to sign a form that I was advised of this. I had no choice at that point. I would NEVER have purchased this product had I known this. This information cannot be correct, because prior to having this flooring installed, I had oak hardwood installed for 17 years that never cracked, peeled or gapped. I contend that the wood, that carries a 100-year warranty, is defective. It failed within 6 months and they found an obscure cause that they are now blaming for this peeling.
Despite repeated attempts to get information from Lumber Liquidators, with help from HSS VP, Kristen **, to get me in contact with Brian **, Customer Solutions Call Center Director, no one had contacted me. I followed up again today, 4/18/14, by calling the call center, spoke with Robert, who said that a letter was sent yesterday to me saying that the inspection report stated that the coating peeling was not a manufacturer's defect. I disagree. Furthermore, if the environment should have been kept to 30-50% humidity as they stated it should have been, this information should have been disclosed to me prior to (during the 9-month research time when I made repeated inquiries about this wood from both Patricia and the Lone Tree store), and upon purchase of this wood. This requirement would have been a critical fact in my decision-making process. In Colorado, the dry climate would have required installation of a central humidifier, which I never would have purchased. This requirement is NOT stated anywhere in any of the marketing material that I have.
Lumber Liquidators is hiding behind this hidden requirement, knowing full-well that this is their practice. I have heard countless stories with other people (former employees, homeowners, customers) who have similar complaints about the Lumber Liquidator products. Furthermore, just take a look at all of the BBB complaints against LL. LLs employees engage in fraudulent activity to meet their $1 Billion revenue goal, selling inferior products, touting superior quality, yet never delivering on their promise.
This is a Class Action Lawsuit situation. They should deliver on their promise of a superior quality product that can support a 100-year warranty claim, and treat customers honestly and fairly or get out of business. The negative PR alone against this company is costing them a decline in future product sales and positive public perception. Negative public perception runs rampant and is growing. I feel horribly deceived by this company. It has cost me $25,000 plus endless lost time, energy, aggravation in trying to get what I purchased. Furthermore, now that I am selling my home, the defective flooring is now a huge liability, rather than an asset. I invested in it to improve the value of my home asset. LL engages in deceptive Marketing tactics to secure customers and does not fulfill on its warranty.
I share this with consumers to protect you from facing this formidable situation. Shop elsewhere; get recommendations from satisfied consumers. Friends who hear this story and have hardwood floors all agree that this coating peeling and shrinkage problem has not happened to them. They DID NOT buy from Lumber Liquidators. Run far, far away from Lumber Liquidators and protect your family and friends from encountering the unscrupulous Business Practices used by Lumber Liquidators.

Bought bamboo flooring and installed it myself. It looks beautiful. There were 3 boards that had been damaged by being lifted with a forklift. Took them back for a refund and was told that I needed to return only full boxes. So you are apparently supposed to stop your job in the middle of it, take out every board and inspect them for damage, pack it up and take it back and bargain for what you can. They tried to sell me some cleaner at a discount for the bad boards (which their careless handling had caused). So because they mishandle your flooring, you are supposed to buy something else from them! These people are a joke. I would never buy anything from them again. They don't give a rat's rear end about the customer.... only their money.

In June 2013, we went into Lumber Liquidators in Kennesaw to purchase Acacia wood to have installed in our new home. Their employee Clifford ** insisted that the MS Bamboo Floating Floor was a much better product and we should purchase that. The flooring has a 30 year warranty. 796.4 square feet of wood was purchased on July 3rd, 2013 for $3,550.39 including tax, and the wood was picked up and placed in our home July 17th, 2013, over two weeks prior to installation so it could acclimate for the amount of time recommended by the salesperson. Lumber Liquidators gave us the name of their recommended installer, Precision Flooring, which we used. We also brought the best insulation layer that was recommended, the Bellawood Premium Underlayment. It cost us an additional $1,613.40 for the installation. By the second week in November our floors were separating.
On November 13, 2013, we called the Kennesaw store and spoke with Dwayne, who told us to contact their Customer Care Line. We called it at 1-800-427-3966, spoke to "Carrie," who instructed us to fill out a General Disclosure Statement report and send it and photos of the floors to "Matthew **". We were told "Matthew **" would be our representative. We were told Matthew would get back to us in two to three business days. Not only did Matthew not get back to us, he would not return telephone calls. We once again called the local Lumber Liquidators store on November 26, 2013 and spoke with Cliff, who once again suggested that we call the Customer Care Line. That same day we called the Customer Care line and spoke with "Vickie" at 9:25 am. She never got back to us. We then called the installation company.
The owner of Precision Floors, Joel Negron, came out and looked at our floors. He took a moisture reading and told us that there was too much moisture in the wood, and he believed we have a defective product. He told us to get another box of wood and he would have his installers come back in and take up the damaged wood and replace it with new, and he hoped that would take care of the problem. This repair happened December 6th, 2013. Our floors now are coming away from the walls in nine different areas of our home. It is obvious that we have a defective product and that our floor will need replacing. We visited the local store February 17th and spoke to the manager, Scott **. He assured us that the problem would be taken care of, and mentioned that he sees us in our church Sanctuary. Shortly after that we finally got a telephone call from Matthew **, who said the problem had to be with installation, because there was nothing wrong with the wood.
Matthew called back on March 19th to tell us that the installer had gone out of business, and said he would be getting back to us. We called the manager Scott again on March 27, and he said he was still looking into it and would be sending inspectors to look at our floors. Yesterday we spoke to the installer recommended by Lumber Liquidators. Joel Negron had bankrupted the company that put in our floors, and now owns Metro Atl Floors. He said that in his opinion we would need all new floors, but from his experience he knew that Lumber Liquidators would do nothing but blame the installer, then blame us for our lifestyle tearing up the floors. He said it was too bad, but we had no choice but to accept that Lumber Liquidators sold us a defective product. I really wish I would have come across this site before I did business with such a company. Lumber Liquidators has left us with an unsightly flooring that poses a tripping hazard, and will not stand by their word nor their warranty.

Drove about 85 miles one way from small rural town to Raleigh, NC store# 047 to price/purchase hardwood flooring. We were told no shipping and paid almost $2500.00 cash for the product selected. When e-invoice was sent, shipping charges attached. When we called the store about this, we were told busy with "customers" and would call us back. No return call as promised that day. We called the customer care number and were told the order was cancelled and sent notice to the store to cancel our order and refund our money.
We refused shipment of the finishing moldings that were shipped from a place in Pennsylvania. We have yet to get all of our money back. We refused shipment of the molding, it has been signed for back in PA, yet the store manager, Jason advises that he doesn't know how to return our money. He said we should have accepted the shipment and then bring it back to the store (which would have involved about 170 mile round trip). That has been over three weeks ago. I have called customer service, emailed the "chairman" and have still have not gotten my money back. Any interaction/communication related to this is initiated by me and never by Lumber Liquidators. I would never do business with them again. All I want is my cash money back and the excuse that they are too busy with customers in the store and can't figure out how to refund me is lame, at best.

We had flooring installed in June 2013, Mission Olive Laminate 12 mm with attached pad. Paid over $8000 for floor and install by installer picked by LL. I am beside myself at what the floor is doing. It is cupping, blistering in bedroom and cupping at seams thru the house. I was also given the kiss off letter they send out to everyone. I am a Christian woman; if I did something to the floor I would just fix it myself. I talked to Dennis a supervisor. He suggested I spilled something in the master bedroom. The floor is blistering in a place you could not spill liquid. We do not eat or drink under a dresser! I now can see that customers are being had, now that I have read all the complaints. How odd that it is always the same issues no matter which floor you purchase! I am not going to let this go. I now have to worry about the rest of the house. It is just my husband and me. I clean the floor according to what I was told by LL. I purchased all cleaning products from LL. I spray the Bellawood cleaner onto the mop head as directed. This has to somehow change for the consumer! What can we all do to help each other?

I purchased $4000 worth of strand bamboo click flooring in April 2013. The flooring sat in my home from May thru June to acclimate. I hired the recommended installer. I followed closely all the instructions for cleaning and maintenance. No one informed me that humidity was an issue. I asked if there were any problems with this floor and if moisture was a concern. I was told "No" that strand bamboo was extremely durable and there had not been any problems with this flooring. In Dec. I noticed a small gap in the hall and at one bedroom entrance way.
By mid Jan. there was a very large gap and I began to notice several others throughout my home. Then I saw that the floors had pulled away from all the walls that ran the length of the boards in every room. This gap was at least 1/4 inch outside of the baseboards! I contacted Lumber liquidators and placed a complaint. I waited 2 weeks and heard nothing. I went to the store. The salesman sent an email to LL and was reprimanded for doing so. They responded that they had not received my photos nor disclaimer. I had never been given any instructions by them so how could I do so? They called the next week and I sent them everything. Then I received a call from their home service folks who said they would sent an inspector to look at the floor.
The inspector was the installer who stated that the winter had been very cold and that I mustn't have maintained my humidity well and that there were many others with complaints about this bamboo flooring. He said it was a new product and there were no quality guidelines. He said he would replace at my expense for the product needed. He also said that it was recommended that T moldings be used in doorways. He did not put any in my home nor did and did he discuss doing so at the time of installation. I then received a call from the Home Services who recommended him and was told not to let him repair the floor since humidity may solve the problem. Now what was I to do?
The installer says the product is at fault and never recommends a humidifier to the consumer. The Home service folks say I should have one now. Just received a call from Home services today (April) and they did agree to send a third party flooring inspector out. LL has been silent and their person has not responded to my email. I am also going to seek legal advice. This company isn't worth doing any type of business with and I am telling everyone I come in contact with about it. Don't waste your money. Their warranty is worthless!

I purchased Lumber Liquidators' Morning Star Bamboo Flooring March 2013. I have had nothing but problems with this floor. The installer has been here 4X and again is coming Monday. It is usually a different installer each time. At first, I felt that the problem was the installer's fault, but after turning on my heat, the separations seems to be getting worse. I contacted the installer and he recommended a humidifier. I went out and bought one. Nothing is helping. I went to the store and complained. They said that now LL will be providing their "own" installers and not subcontracting.
Well that is great news for the future LL buyers but what about my floor? I mentioned that the installer used my "extra box I purchased" to repair the floor. They gave me a box for free. Oh gee, I thought that should put a smile on my face and fix the problem - I think not. Again he is coming out Monday. I have no idea what line of crap he is going to tell me. The floor is separating all over in different spots. Calling and dealing with LL is a joke. They want pics, they want receipts, measurements - really?
Just send someone over and get this information. See first hand. I would never ever recommend LL to anyone. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. I also bought Tranquility floor for my kitchen. It took them 4X to get that right - but I am not holding my breath - I inspect it every day for separation. Can anyone help me/direct me as to what I can do? Don't be fooled by my email name - I am not cheap - I just want the best product for the money I spend. Please help.

I purchased a floor on March 27th 2014 and was told I would be able to pick up the flooring within a week. About a week later I heard nothing so I called them. I was told to wait until Tuesday, April 8th and my floor should be in. Later that day I received a call that the floor I bought was not available and does not even exist. I paid a $2000 cash deposit on a product that Lumber Liquidators does not have. How can you sell a product if you don't have it? I called customer service to request my money back so I could buy a floor somewhere else and a rude woman told me that I could wait and see if she can find me another floor, which could take several days or wait 3 to 5 weeks for a refund check to come in the mail.
In the meantime, I have no flooring and I have to shell out additional money to buy the floor somewhere else. Not fair! The contract talks about refunds after receipt of the product which never happened in this case. I asked Lumber Liquidators to perhaps upgrade my purchase or at least find me a floor of the same value, but it seems that they won't consider this an option. Thank You.

I purchased $3,900 worth of Tobacco Road handscraped engineered flooring in April 2013. It was on sale and I knew I wouldn't be installing it until June, so I brought it into the house and scattered it throughout. I installed in the first part of June with the 5% waste. I had a few pieces left over. Soon after I noticed one board delaminating on the edge. Then there was another, then one more. I contacted LL about this and got their canned answer. They offered me $300+ in store credit. I received the offer on a Thursday, contacted my attorney and on Friday, the offer was rescinded because they hadn't heard from me.
The email was dated the following Monday, but wasn't sent until Thursday. I have had their "inspector" come and review the problems, two of which I glued back myself. They said they had a problem with a glue run at the factory on the specific product I bought. They said the floor was not flat (it isn't but it's flat enough) and the humidity was too low (again, I live in the SW where it is low humidity). They did agree to give me almost full purchase price in an in store credit. I don't want their inferior products and refused and I am going to sue for purchase price, installation time (self-installed) as well as time to remove, if I can. They had their chance and I have not heard back from them. I would not recommend Lumber Liquidators. Never. It's too bad they can't stand behind their products.

Our contractor purchased bamboo flooring from Lumber Liquidators for a floating floor. Shortly after installation, the floor starting coming apart in different locations, and bending in two places where the floor sinks when you step on it. I was asked to send in pictures and video, which I did, only to have our contractor notified that there is nothing LL can or will do for us. We asked if they could send someone out to look at the floor and make a suggestion as to how to remedy it and they said they didn't have anyone to send out. Then they sent our contractor some legal verbiage that basically makes them not have to stand behind their warranty. After reading all these bad reviews, it is apparent to me that what we really need to do is band together and file a class action lawsuit. LL should not be allowed to get away with this deceptive behavior and keep selling inferior products they don't stand behind. Anyone know of a lawyer who would be willing to help?

Licensed and experienced contractor (who works for LL) installed flooring and it looked beautiful. Within 3-4 weeks, it started gapping and cupping. Not just a little. A manager of the store came to my home to evaluate the flooring. He was very nice and professional. He stated that there was a definite problem and they would stand by their product and replace my floor. Ha ha. On March 17th, I received a letter from Corporate that they denied my claim because it is a "non-warrantied" claim. REALLY??? So much for the manager's word and a 30-year warranty. I did receive a very nice Xerox copy of "Flooring 101". I will be glad to forward that to their own installer. So... A licensed flooring inspector and attorney later, hopefully this will end the "right" way. AWFUL.
