In 2006, my husband and I purchased all new LG appliances from Home Depot and paid for the 4-year extended warranty. We have the WM2077CW washing machine, LFX25960ST French Door Refrigerator, DLG3788W Dryer, LDF6810ST Dishwasher and LRG30355ST Gas Range. We have had problems with every single appliance, have had the extended warranty repairs done on each one, and continue to have problems. The latest is the washer has stopped draining and the drain pump motor is broken. Our warranty expired on 14 Apr 11 and both Home Depot and LG will do nothing. The refrigerator is now leaking water all over our kitchen floor, and the knobs on the gas stove are cracked again--they have been replaced twice already!

Please do not purchase anything from LG! I know we should have been worried when the washer broke the first week we got it home, the dishwasher leaked and the refrigerator water dispenser has never worked properly, even after multiple service calls. Even the extended warranty hasn't saved us from having to replace parts that "aren't covered." I wish we never bought LG, and Home Depot hasn't stood behind them.

I absolutely could not get anyone to answer my calls. I purchased a washing machine in 2005 and it was starting to smell terrible by 2006. In 2009, it produced error readings so I purchased a new pump. In 2011, it started making noise. I took it upon myself and found out that the support brace that holds the inner drum rotted and broke off in three places. I have soft water and am a registered master plumber. The material used in this brace was no more than cast aluminum or pot metal (neither of the two should be used in a piece of equipment like this). The drum is stainless. What a waste.

I purchased an LG Washer and Dryer a year ago. After reading all the complaints, I think I am lucky. I just hope I don't experience the problems others have. My problem is cosmetic. l love the washer but the lip on the washer is disintegrating. I contacted LG with pictures and was told that the product was not defective. They blamed it on customer abuse.

We purchased a new LG Front Loader along with the gas dryer about four months ago. For the last four weeks, we've been noticing that our closing is having a mold smell. I was advised about cleaning it out when done and leaving the door open until next load to help prevent the mold from growing. We have tried everything but nothing works; just smelling like mold in the Florida heat.

After several months of intermittent stopping and then working, and several visits by various repair people, Sears finally eliminated the problem by replacing the electronic board (at a cost of $35 plus labor). The washer has been working perfectly for 6 months. I wished that someone could have told me this when I was experiencing the problem.

I have an LG washer and the detergent/fabric softener drawer would not open at all. I looked online to see if anyone else had problems with this. There is a list of them.

What is happening is, the cover on the fabric softener portion in the drawer is lifting up and getting stuck. Same problem everyone else is having.

There should be a recall on this. Very poor design. This is through not fault of my own. I am hoping you can help us. Thank you.

Approximately 2 years ago, I purchased an LG front loader washing machine from PC Richards in NYC. I called LG one year later complaining of a moldy smell in my machine and on my clothing. They told me to do weekly maintenance and keep the door open. I have NEVER heard of such a thing and believe that a customer MUST be told about this prior to purchasing the machine. I did as LG told me because as a working mother, it was easier to just do it than to call and complain again. I was so angry after I spoke with them and listened to the "uh huh, uh huh" bad attitude.

Last week my 7-year old son, walking from his bedroom into mine, walked into the door in the middle of the night (my son cut his leg). I am furious! I called LG to tell them I want a different machine or my money back. Nothing! This is something that must be told to customers prior to purchasing the machine, not after.

My LG washer turned itself on when I was not at home. It filled up with water and because it was not in a cycle the door wasn't locked so the pressure from the water pushed the door open and the water continued to pour out. I came home to my house being flooded, water went through my vents and into my crawlspace. When the repairman came he witnessed the washer doing it all over again! I called LG, they told me to get 2 estimates, send them pictures, fill out documents and send them my old parts and I did. I thought they were going to help. I am now going into my 6th week of them leading me on to believe they are going to help me.

They keep saying they have to do testing then they said they had to send the main control panel to Korea for further testing. I have over 30,000 in damages, my daughter is allergic to mold and not one person at LG gives a hoot! I am setting my LG washer & dryer at the end of my driveway (it's 3 years old) I will never ever purchase anything with those initials on it again! Their customer service is as bad as their product! Oh it also leaks water from underneath during wash cycle too. The lady asked me at one point "what cycle was your washer in when it leaked". I said AGAIN my washer was not in a CYCLE and it did not LEAK. It turned itself on, filled with water and sent out about 70 gallons of water. If you want to know what cycle my washer was in.... ask the washer! I had it on OFF!

I purchased an LG washer a little over a year ago. Six months after the purchase, the clothes washed in the washer started to smell like mildew. Since then, I have purchased many different washing machine cleaner products, and attempted every suggestion provided by the LG representatives and people online suffering the same problems to get rid of the smell.

LG also sent a technician out while the washer was under warranty; who said there was nothing wrong with the machine, and he could smell no odor.

Now the warranty is up; LG claims that, "nothing can be done."

I purchased an LG Washer & Dryer less than 4 years ago. I purchased the warranty as well as an extended warranty. 5 weeks and 3 days ago (on a Wednesday night), I ran a load of clothes through the washer. No more problems than usual. I left my house at 8:30 a.m. the next morning, went through laundry room, no problem. My daughter came home from summer school and called me to say our house is flooded (I have 10,000 wood floors throughout the main level) and our washer door is open. I said I will be there a.s.a.p. I came home with water all over my laundry room, kitchen, breakfast nook, family room, bathroom and hallway. My husband sucked up over 40 gallons of water with a shop-vac. It also went into my vents and down into the crawlspace.

I called to have a repairman come out. He pushed some buttons to get the error code in the window so he could figure out the problem. He turned it off. There were no lights, no power - nothing. While standing there talking to him, the drum just started spinning. We heard the water valves open up and then the water started to fill again. All right before our eyes! He said the main control board went out. It filled with water and because it wasn't in a cycle, the door wasn't locked so the pressure from the water pushed the door open.

I called LG that night and told them, they gave me a case number. For the next 4 days, I called them to see what they were going to do about it. Finally on the 4th day, I said I am running out of patience and I need a person that can help me NOW. They gave me a number to their legal department. From there, I got a lady who asked me to provide her with things such as pictures, 2 estimates, my old washer parts that were removed by the repairman and a completed form that she e-mailed. I sent everything to her within 24 hours except the estimates. I ended up getting 4 estimates and all of them were within a few hundred dollars of each other - I have 30,000 in DAMAGES.

For a couple of weeks, I dealt with the legal department with them saying they had to test my old parts. The third week, I was informed that my case was transferred to their insurance company and my control board was sent to Korea. By this time, I have probably put in over 100 hours communicating, researching, meeting with contractors, etc. So everyday I kept e-mailing asking them to please tell me my test results. I have begged and pleaded because my daughter is HIGHLY allergic to mold and I fear the longer I wait, the better the chances are that I am going to have mold. I have cried, screamed, stressed, fought with my husband because we are so stressed out and don't know why they can't simply acknowledge what has happened and take responsibility for this.

So I googled President of LG, found a phone number, called it and I got connected to his secretary's voice mail. I, of course, left a message. On Monday, I got a call from their insurance company saying ok this is what we can do. In order to do more tests, they have to "open" the control panel. And by doing that, it will destroy that part and no further testing can be done; Or we can send the part to the United States. You can find, hire and pay for your own expert and we can have our expert and your expert test it together; Or we can give you 50% of your claim and you can live with it.

I said I will make a couple of calls and call you back. After talking with whom I needed, I decided to tell them keep the part in Korea, do what you have to do. I know the part is bad so continue your testing. I did it that way because how would I EVER be able to tell that is MY part that they sent back. The next day she calls me again and says our attorney will prepare a Product Testing Agreement and Waiver for you to sign and send it to you Fed EX. I am so angry at this point and I am not sure what to do. My daughter is not feeling well due to her allergies, I am sure. She also has asthma and now she has headaches, her chest has been hurting and now she is telling me that her nose burns.

LG, you need to stop making products. Period. You don't care about your customers, you care about the almighty dollar! An outstanding company would stand behind their products and take care of their customers so they would continue to be a customer. I will never buy anything with those initials on it ever again and I will make sure everyone I know doesn't own an LG product as well. To go through something like this has been extremely upsetting, but to continue to go through unnecessary crap to prove your washer malfunctioned (I even have the repairman that witnessed it) is the worst customer service I have ever heard of. At one point, like 3 weeks into this, the legal department asked me "what cycle was your washer in when it leaked?". I wanted to pull her through the computer and choke her! I said: First of all, it wasn't in a CYCLE and it didn't LEAK. It turned itself on, filled with water, pushed the door open and continued to poor water into my house. If you want to know what CYCLE my washer was IN, ask the WASHER! I HAD IT ON OFF!!!!!!!!!!

Fairly new front loader, LG wm2801hwa, opened its door mid-cycle. I had a flooded kitchen and laundry room. When it was discovered, the machine was observed to continuously flooding water out of its (then open) front door. The water valves had to be closed and the machine had to be unplugged. LG was contacted directly and a service man was sent out. The D.G. Appliance representative indicated that the machine had an assortment of problems, including the main controller. The machine even flooded the kitchen and laundry room again, as the payment for the service call was being processed, for he left the valves on after his inspection.

I consider this machine new since it was purchesed about a year and a half ago. I expected LG to step up to the plate here and provide a reasonable response. The door on a front loader should never open like that. Much property damage was avoided only by luck in discovering the flood in time, and diverting the water away from wood and carpeted areas. I followed up with D.G. later that afternoon and learned that they didn't bother reporting the problem to LG. I called LG (again) and found no relief, since the machine was out of warranty.

I returned the original to Sears within three weeks of having bought it. It won't spin water out of the machine and my clothes were sopping wet. The replacement unit continued to have problems with spinning properly. Last week, I noticed that the rug in my basement (just outside laundry area) got completely soaked with water. After five days with fans constantly running, I've started ripping up my carpet. The pad is soaked through. It is a disaster in my basement now. And I have my house on the market. A couple of months ago it began making a terrible sound during the spin cycle. I called the repairman, who said it would cost $800 to fix it. The bearing and rollers and tub shaft were going out. His statement was "they are designed to fail between 3 and 5 years". I called LG and spoke to two different individuals, who were very nice, but basically said, sorry. Two days after having it delivered and installed by Home Depot we go to do our first load of laundry and get an error code on the front of the machine. The manual says to call for service, so we call LG's service number listed in the manual. The young lady I spoke with at LG was most unhelpful, her response was because the washer was less than 30 days old they would not service it that I had to return it to the store for an exchange. I purchased an LG Tromm steam washer and dryer (WM2487 & DLE7177) in Sept. 2007. Somehow, I was spared the stinky mold/smell problem. However, the washer is making a racket during the spin cycle. This developed into a burning smell which eventually produced an error message of "LE". I phoned a tech. He told us to unplug machine and let the motherboard cool for half an hour, depress the arrow button and re-start the cycle. This didn't work. I was told that the proper use of machine requires a wait of 15-30 minutes between loads to allow the board to cool (No problem, I have nothing but time in my hands).

LG tech came out in a very fancy van and told us that we have soft water in our area and should've only used 2 tbsp of soap per load. Since too much detergent was used, it crystallized somewhere and caused the bearings to go bad. The repair would cost $1,200 and since we didn't buy the extended warranty, it's cheaper to buy a new machine. The two machines cost us $2,337.74 in 2007. We didn't buy the extended warranty because my engineer husband didn't think we'd need it (me neither). My parents' top load machine lasted 25+ years.

Like a **, I went back to Home Depot and ordered a newer version of LG steam washer. Sales person told us we didn't need to buy a new pedestal and that we could use the one we have. A delivery company came out and said we could not use the old pedestal, it was against liability rules established by Home Depot and besides, design change for new pedestal. Washing machine had to be put back on the truck. I was told that the machine and pedestal must arrive at the same time for installation or forget it. What a dirty racket. I am forced to buy a warranty and a new pedestal each time for a machine that doesn't last for 4 years. I looked at Consumer Reports today and they say LG has the best reliability rating. LG Tromm dryer takes forever to dry towels.

I bought an LG front load dryer because of the good reputation that LG had. I had the dryer for less than two years and it began to trip the house circuit breaker. After a week of this, it completely shut off. I had a repairman come out to fix it and discovered that internal wires had shaken loose onto the drum of the dryer and melted through until it shorted out when one of the metal zippers came into contact with the drum. This fried the whole motherboard and destroyed the machine.

Further inspection showed that the circuit breaker prevented the dryer from catching on fire. The very expensive product failed us and nearly caused a fire. This is an extremely hazardous flaw that LG needs to fix so that the wires do not come in contact with the drum. This product really should be recalled for the consumers' protection.

We purchased a model WM 2301H washer along with a dryer in October of 09 from Home Depot. In February 11 we called a repair company to service our washer which had stopped spinning. The repair company talked with the LG tech support on several occasions and replaced motor, stator, control board; then forgetting to order parts for us, we had to contact LG for parts at which time the control board was replaced again and our washer was repaired finally March 25, 2011. Then on June 12, 2011 the washer began making noises and would not engage in spin cycle. We called another repair company who said the motor was bad and we would have to call LG to authorize repairs or we would have again have to pay for repairs. The motor has a ten-year warranty. We contacted LG who stated they had no history on our washer and that we would have to send in materials documenting that we had purchased the machine and had repairs done.

I faxed the materials I had to them and had to call back three days later to confirm they had received the fax, and then had to call back four days later to find out what their decision was. They requested a history from the first repair man because the repair invoices from that repair man were insufficient. After considerable discussion they authorized repair parts (which were under warranty anyway) but said we would have to come up with more documentation as to why the motor was replaced in the first place. The previous company we had repairs done from has changed owners and no longer does repairs, so I cannot come up with additional documentation other than my receipt for purchasing the washer, the shipping labels for parts sent from LG and repair invoices.

We spent over two thousand dollars for a washer and dryer less than twenty months ago. During that time it has cost us over two hundred dollars in repairs. Four weeks without a washer the first time resulting in two forty mile round trips and seventy five dollars at the laundry mat, not to mention the time having to stay at home waiting for service men to show up and multiple phone calls to LG for service.

This time so far it has cost me one forty mile round trip to the laundry mat, thirty dollars at the laundry mat and a cash outlay for soap as the machines do not use the soap like I use at home. And so far instead of getting work done, I have had to spend two hours on the phone with LG just to get the authorization for warrantied parts to be replaced. Home Depot no longer carries LG washers and dryers because of the large number of problems their customers have had with them. I firmly believe LG is aware of the electrical problem they have with their product but does not want to offer help to their customers. I am afraid to pay for repairs again because I do not trust that the company has a fix for the problem and if I have to shell out another two hundred for repairs after this. I might as well purchase a new washer and save myself the hassle of dealing with this mess.

After research, I bought the front-loading stackable top of the line washer and dryer, along with (thankfully) an extended parts/service warranty. My previous machines had worked for almost 15 years without a problem. Within a few months, the washer was leaking water through the seal and had several episodes of various electrical messages. The tech had to replace the board and then just propped his feet against the front of the washer and pulled the drum to the front, saying this is a common problem with LG. Also, my dryer has never worked right at all despite the tech telling me it is fine. "Very dry" is not, and "low" on timed dry is much hotter than I would expect.

The dryer started going thunk thunk, so out came the tech again. This time, under the extended warranty. Like others, the weld was broken on the drum. How does that happened? So it got replaced and a year or so later, just out of the 5-year warranty by less than 30 days, it is thunking again. To think that I was getting ready to buy an LG refrigerator. Silly me. I am sorry that LG won't fess up to these problems and just fix them. I would have been a customer for life.

Several times now, I have discovered this problem and rewashed my clothes, cleaned them, tested for mold spores professionally, and even opened up the wall in the closet to search for mold. No mold was found in the tests as well as in the walls.

I just recently read about black mold growing in the gasket of front loader washing machines.

I have an LG front loader I purchased brand new in 2006, 5 years ago from Home Depot in Helena Montana. Over the years, I have noticed that my clothes did not smell very clean after washing them. I noticed what looked like soap marks on the clothes. I thought this was due to my soap. I only use a eco friendly laundry detergent and a very small amount and always run as an extra rinse . I never have used fabric softeners. Just plain bio clean or Armond hammer powered detergent. After spending hundreds of dollars in trying to find the mold problem in the house, not having any idea that the problem might be from the washing machine. Just last April 28 2011, I have discovered several cases on the internet that talk about black mold as a problem growing in the front loader of washing machines. Most of the complaints were about the washers smelling. I have discovered a black like substance in the washer gasket. I have cleaned it out not knowing it may have been mold. Now I realize this my be the very cause of mold problem that has been such a mystery to my health, that I have been living, sleeping in on with my clothes and sheets for a number of years.

I would like to ask if you know of any information or sights that explain more about health problems with washing machines as to the mold growing on clothes. Can mold grow on the clothes after drying the clothes? If so, is it possible to ever get the mold out of the clothes? I have heard that black mold does not smell. Do you know if this is true? I wash my clothes with bio clean detergent and use no fabric softener. When I put the clothes away, I see them clean. It is not until weeks later that I discover what looks like mold on my clothes. There is plenty of air flow in the closet. The mold tests that were done a month ago in several rooms in the house show no mold. Even after the test was done a month ago, just last week, once again I discovered what looked mold on many of my clothes.

I appreciate any information you may share with me to solve this problem. For nearly four years, I have had constant skin rashes not knowing where the problem came from and joint problems on an off. Mold and fungus has often been diagnosed as an issue effecting my health, yet I have not been able to solve the problem. For the past year and a half now, I have been discovering what looks like mold on my dry clothes. Several times I have rewashed the clothes and taken apart my very dry closet and wall searching for mold, as well as having the house professionally tested and even taken out the dry wall to see if mold was growing in the walls. Now I am at my wits end with health problems of chronic sinus infections, skin rashes around the eyes as well, itching, inflamed joints and foggy brain and digestion problems. No matter what I have done to solve this problem, my symptoms are still present. Just a few days ago, I first discovered the information about mold in washers. I have cleaned the black slimy substance of what looked like mold from the gasket before not realizing this is black mold. Based on the hundreds of cases I am reading about LG washers, I would like to join a class action law suit and have the washer replaced and have some compensation for much loss due to ill health. Please let me know what are the most effective steps to take to have my case heard and just compensation for damages to health and clothes and not at present even using the machine. Thank you for you help in concerning these matters.

I purchased the washer and dryer for around $2,500 in January 2010. I noticed right away the very long cycles to wash and dry with poor results. It didn't get dog hair off clothes, towels, cloths, and most clothes still smelt dirty--a permanent moldy mildew smell exists in almost all my laundry. I did regular maintenance as per manual and wiped seals down drained hose, etc., to no improvement. My huge concern is that last week--April 2011--I could smell something burning. I had my washer on tub clean with nothing in it--no clothes or soap as per manual.

I opened the basement door to find my washer shorted out somehow and was full of smoke! I am six months pregnant with a three-year old. My one year and four-month old washer should not be about to start fire. The LG rep came out and had no idea why the power board melted down. The parts will be covered but the labor is $100 (I am still waiting to hear for the repair date). The top of the washer's inside when the back panel was removed is dark and smoky and the repairman noticed the smell too even when he came four days after it happened!

Shame on you LG! Someone's house will burn down one day because of this ** washing machine--I have no doubt. I am thankful that I was home to turn off the breaker and unplug this hazard. I hope that a lawsuit comes to Canada to recall these defective machines.

I purchased an LG Combo Washer and Dryer from Home Depot just over 2 years ago. They are still like brand new; the washer a WM2455HG started making noise so I called for service. LG has the worst customer service and warranty department. I had to call back 6 times in 2 days and after finally having the unit looked at the parts that caused the problem are under warranty but the additional parts that were damaged when the other ones failed are not. It is now going to cost over $500 to repair. I never had the smell or mold problem as my wife took really good care of the door seal.

After having the repairman out to look at the unit he asked why I bought LG and told me they are the one of the worst. Most of the repair companies in my area stopped handling LG repair work because of how hard it is to work with LG for service work. Since it is going to cost me over $500 out of my pocket it’s going to be cheaper for me to buy a new unit, and it will not be an LG.

Nothing in the manual states that socks cannot be washed in that model. Supervisor told me they will take product to their location and test it but never did. We bought an LG Tromm WD-1431RD combination washer/dryer unit in 2006. We only used it for 2 months a year, when we visit in Peru. So, it has been used only for 12 months. It looks like new. Oddly, we have not had the mildew/odor problem so many people complain of, but we have had to have the technician out twice because it didn't dry adequately. Each time he tinkered with it, the problem seemed to be okay. At least we could live with it, though clothes were never really dry.

Well this time, it stopped drying the clothes at all, even though the dryer air is hot. The technician came out and checked the machine and said he doesn't know what it is, but it will have to go to the shop. They will have to keep it for at least 2 weeks, and it will probably cost around $150. We paid him for the call and called the laundry to come get our clothes. Whatever is wrong, it shouldn't be wrong already, even though the 1 year warranty is expired. Tomorrow we will go shopping for new equipment that doesn't have to be repaired every 2-3 months. Now, how to get rid of this very expensive piece of LG junk?

This is a two-part story about what I thought was the best washer and dryer in the world when I purchased them from Home Depot in 2007. Exactly one month following the warranty expiration, the LG Washer (Model: WM2487HWM) had the main pump go bad. I was very upset considering what I paid for these top-of-the-line appliances. It took over eight weeks to get the part, and two service companies later to get the job done--all at a premium for Northern NJ Appliance Serviceman rates.

The washer has worked flawlessly since, and I am content with its trouble free operation since that time. Now, fast forward to 2010, my LG Dryer (Model: DLE3777W) starts making a thump while it is running. Now, in late 2010, I finally can see the reason with this ever-growing crack in the stainless steel drum. So I called LG tonight. They now have in place a five-year drum warranty that supersedes the units and they are making arrangements to come repair this one at no cost.

This is still a complaint about shoddy workmanship and poor quality. However, I am impressed that they are standing behind the product. Times are tough right now, and the last thing I want to have to do is replace this washer and dryer. I am not in the same position to buy a top-of-the-line front loader. Our clothing is never clean, smells musty at best and totally mildewy at worst. When we dry off with towels, we rub the mildewy smell all over our bodies. I have done all of the recommended maintenance and care, and used all the right products. I wipe down the door seal, drain the front hose and filter, and leave the door open, all to no avail. Bottom line, there is a design problem with this washer. There are things you can do to make the smell better, but it will never go away. When I take my husband's shirts out of the dryer, after a 2-hour intense wash cycle, his shirts still smell of his cologne. How clean is that?

We are sick that we spent this kind of money for such a terrible product. Someone needs to stop LG from ripping people off. These appliances worked okay for the first couple of years, then (after the warranty ran out) the washer began to leak around the door. This was gradual at first but has gotten to the point that you have to stand by with a wet/dry vacuum to catch the water as it runs out the door. In contacting LG about the problem, all they did was refer me to some service agencies about setting up an appointment to have the machine repaired. I've worked on major appliances for the better part of my life and know how to repair them most of the time, but this monstrosity has defied being repaired.

The gasket against which it seals is in good condition, so that's not the problem. The door itself seems to be the problem in that there is a lot of top and bottom slack and play when it is closed and there are no internal adjustments to correct this. At nearly $1000 for the washer and dryer, you would think that they shouldn't have any major problems such as this as quickly as they have. Being retired now and on an income that's fixed we can't afford to shell out that kind of money every few years. Judging from the complaints seen here on this web site I will never put my trust in another LG appliance. They might do okay when it comes to items such as cell phones, but they need to leave major appliances such as this washer and dryer to the big boys who know how to build quality and longevity into their consumer products.

After realizing that the mold that was accumulating in the gray rubber gasket of my LG front loading washing machine was not going to go away, I finally went online to see if other complaints had been logged about this issue.

As others have posted, this problem began soon after (two months) I purchased this machine. After each wash, I would try to clean out the gasket as best as I could and leave the door open but it has not been enough to keep the mold/gunk problem at bay and much of the inner folds of the gasket are now permanently stained from the mold. The thought that this is the device that is actually serving to "clean" my clothes is unsettling.

Furthermore, my family and I are being exposed to mold which is a known toxin. I agree with others: this is a class action suit in the making. There’s unknown physical damage, but I imagine that it would be very easy to prove that mold exposure is toxic. Many home owners insurance plans covers construction costs associated with the removal of mold in the home. While perhaps the exposure here is not on the same scale, it is exposure nonetheless.

The first time, they told me to dig up 25 feet of my yard and put in a French drain saying the vent was too close to standing water (that didn't help). The second time, they replaced circuit board (didn't do it either). The 3rd time, the tech talked to LG and LG said my wife doesn't know what she is doing and there is nothing wrong.

They say unless the tech deems it un-repairable, they won't do that. But the tech can't deem it un-repairable because they don't know what is wrong with it. Now the machine is out of warranty and still the clothes are damp.

I tried to keep climbing the ladder, but they are well trained to not let anyone speak to anyone that can really do anything.

I want to reiterate the comments made about the LG front loading washer gaskets. There is clearly a design flaw in the washer door gasket and clearly the customer service reps just hold the party line. Mold, link and essentially particle build-up are rampant and it is up to the purchaser of these units to clean them as best you can without being able to really access the area where the real problem is occurring. So much for modern design and modern technology. I'm sorry I bought an LG washer.

We purchased it in 2009 and it's wonderful, we follow the instructions by not using too much detergent or softener and I wipe out the seal every time I'm done with my days worth of laundry. And I leave the door open overnight. No mildew smell, no leaks, just the cleanest set of clothes I've ever had from a washer. And the washer is quiet. I'm happy, and based on all the complaints here. On 1/27/07, we bought both the LG front Load Washer and Dryer from Home Depot. at almost $2,000.00. We thought it would last forever. Wrong! On August 24, 2010, the washer starting making a horrible noise. We called a local LG service representative, and he came out and looked at it. And when I say he looked at it, that's all he did was look. He did not take it apart or anything else.

He called an LG tech at the 800 number and then he informed us it was going to cost $600.00 to repair. I immediately called LG customer service and told them the problem. They explained to me that I did not have the extended warranty. Well, I did not give up. They put in claim and informed me that a committee would review it and I would hear back in 24 hours. Well, 48 hours went by and I still did not hear anything. My wife called and she was told they did receive the information and it was under review. We should hear something in 24 hours.

We just kept after them, finally, after a week, we got a call at about 9:15 pm and said that it was approved for parts only. Part are cheap. labor is not. It was still going to cost us about $350.00 to fix. Well, we called the authorized service center and gave them the authorization number for the parts and they said they would order them and call us when they came in to set up an appointment. Then a hour later, they called back and said they did not want to fix the washer. We would need to find another authorized service center because they did not want to be involved in a law suit.

Well, that just set me off. I was back on the phone with LG so many time and all they can say is I am sorry. Well, I am sorry too that I ever bought a LG product. They advised me to call another authorized service center and pay again for another service call so that the parts could be ordered. I just don't understand why if someone already came out and got paid to tell me what the problem is, why I need to pay again for someone to do that. I cannot tell you how many hours I have spent on the phone with LG. Well, LG has finally won cause even though I cannot afford it, I am going to go a buy, a new washer and you can bet it will not be an LG. I think a class action lawsuit is definitely in order.

Neither Best Buy nor LG will help us despite the fact that we purchased a 5-year warranty. They did replace it once but the same thing happened again so they refused to replace it, maintaining that it is our fault. It is a design problem. Note, we did use the right detergent, the right amount and drain water etc. Didn't know I would have to buy a pair every other year if I wanted to not have leaks.

I bought LG Washing Machine 8019 PR -7 kg -fully automatic machine thru Ahmedabad (Gujarat-India) dealer Ms. Harsha Electronics dated 7-8-2010. We got two times demo for machine but my wife couldn't satisfy with the same. After that my wife had submitted demo request on 14-8-2010 and today 18-8-2010. After 4 days time, the company demo guy visited my home and given demo. So if the given customer deem request than 4 days would require for demo? It is not acceptable.

Our complaints are 1) Machine is not working fully automatically 2) average time to wash - as per salesman told us is 90 min but sorry to say that machine takes 3 hours and each individual functions are not working 3) after wash function again my wife need to check machine and machine show error 4) same way after rise and spin function it has repeating again and clothes aren't spin properly. Also machine take 3 hours to wash the clothes and after that time clothes didn't get washed and complete waste of time, effort, energy and electric bill. We lived in a joint family and as per my family need, we bought this machine as I have high brand value for LG but after this experience it has lost.

From 7th Aug until date 18th August, almost 11 days, my wife found very unusual and embarrassing situation. The machine has been installed at 1st floor and our kitchen is at ground floor. So in this 11 days, she has gone up at first floor and come down at kitchen 7 to 9 times every day during the time of cloth washing. I have twin baby boy kids in my home and it is very unusual condition for my wife to manage every time. So she is completely lost and fed up with LG product. Today, the demo guy came to my home and during the demo guy Mr. **** found that machine is faulty and not working properly and have manufacturing problems. After that, I have contacted 24 hours customer service-toll free number and all have not given me proper answer.

I felt that I am setting on roller-coaster ride and nothing in my control. So as a customer it is my mistake to buy LG washing machine. I also contacted Ahmedabad based Customer Care person Ms.**** and Technical Head Mr. Dhiraj **** and both have attended me and taken my complaint and asked me to replace the machine. But within this, complete buying experience is lost, nobody has taken care for customer buying experience nor apologies for the same. My question for the company is why such faulty-defected machine has been delivered at my home. I took the decision to buy LG product after comparing with other competing brands. Is there any quality check process at factory level? With this experience, I have lost my working man-hours with this problem because my wife is calling me during my office hours 5 to 6 times in a day since last 11 days except Sunday.

As a customer, I am facing this difficulty since last 11 days and nobody is taking care of it! Even the customer care toll free number every day is asking on my cell if I am satisfied with LG product and at the same time I am relaying this problem but it isn’t solved. So why such customer care calls to customer? At customer care division, nobody is updating this to the concerned head? I am working with FMCG Company as Brand Manager and know entire funds of branding-marketing-customer satisfaction. So post buying experience is completely lost and highly disappointed. When I bought the product and paid on the same day and I got the machine delivery on same day, now with such incident I will get the machine replacement after 4 to 5 days.

What is the customer’s fault? Until today, nobody is asking for post buying experience to customer or product experience and apologies for such incident? To be honest LG brand strength is there but I am unsatisfied customer. I would expect that this will not happen with any other customer. Guess if the company will sell this product to a rural customer. How the rural customers can react? We all are living in technology and at least company need to take corrective action and to satisfy to customer over a phone or send some person at customer’s home to apologize for hardship and to give confidence in brand deliverables. I would expect them to attend to my complaint and revert me as soon as possible.

The washing machine has gotten to the point that I cannot seem to get rid of the odor. We have not contacted LG or Home Depot regarding these issues.

Upon researching the problem online and seeing the multitude of complaints, it became obvious the washing machine has a serious design flaw and no one has any adequate remedies. I have tried several recommendations, such as running a cycle of bleach without clothes, running a cycle of vinegar without clothes , using Affresh Washer Cleaner tablets for Front Load Washers and keeping the door open when the washer isn't running. I've owned an LG Tron washer and dryer for 2 years. I use only products for HE washers but I have had numerous problems with the washer. After visiting this site I now realize I'm not the only one! When I first got this machine, water leaked out underneath on several occasions. I can't imagine why. Then I noticed dark gray/black spots on some clothing. I took a look at the trap and it was filled with black, oily smelling liquid. After emptying it I had no other problems with the black spots on my clothing. Then an unpleasant odor developed inside the washer which caused my clothing to smell unclean. It didn't smell like mold or mildew but more like dirty, stale smelling dampness.

I clean the seal thoroughly and regularly, but it doesn't help with the odor. I now have to keep the door open after using and I use Fabreze Odor Eliminator on my clothing to make them smell better. It really helps a lot. It's all very disappointing as this machine cost me a bundle. As if this wasn't enough, my laundry is not getting clean. I have to pre treat everything and put bleach directly on every single spot on any white clothing. Also, I must run the machine at the longest cycle to get the clothes cleaner, even though my clothing is not heavily soiled to begin with. Often I have to run it through another rinse cycle. Especially towels, which often come out soapy/stiff and dingy.

Half the time the bleach will not dispense. It's unpredictable so I had to quit using the dispenser because if I don't notice the bleach remains in the dispenser it could dispense on a load of colored clothing and ruin everything! I now have to put the bleach in with the detergent. The worst of all is that my cotton clothing is getting peeled! I believe this is caused from the clothing rubbing together without much water. I can't afford to buy another washer right now but if I ever do, it will be a good old top loader.

The LG tech rep's way of fixing it was to unplug it and plug it back in to reset the system. LG has very poor service and I would not recommend their products.

My 4 yr old $1100 LG Tromm, WM2277HW washer has been out of commission now for 4 weeks with a "DE" error. The machine will wash, but not drain. Repairmen are rare. Response time slow, and week-long waits between visits. The repairman initially diagnosed a failed drain motor. Part was ordered, installed a week later, and the machine promptly failed after 3 loads. Reported immediately.

10 days later, he suction pumped some sand and dirt, no improvement. For his next visit, if I choose to hang on, he thinks he'll take off the front, and check something more thoroughly in the belly of the machine. I am $230 into this repair, & the Mom & Pop store is waiting my decision on how to proceed. I sense at this point I can be just as effective attempting to fix it myself with online research/support. We do have hard well water. I did not overload the machine. I used HE soap sparingly. I leave the door open after each use. The soap drawer drains water down the front when opened. The machine has had an awful mildew smell from the beginning, regardless of deep cleaning efforts. I cannot recommend LG at all. Faulty product, yet big bucks.

I purchased an LG washer and dryer from home depot about 2008, and have had no clean clothes especially the whites. I have contacted Home Depot first, then LG and followed their instructions and called a service man. He was about 20 years old and knew not much about the washer. He replaced some parts and said it should clean better. Well, it did not. Called LG again after washing a few months more and then my husband said boy, my white tee shirts are getting dingy. That's was the last straw.

Called another service company and they could not find a problem even when I showed the the corrosion in the hinges from something leaking on the hinges. I also showed him the brown wash cloth I put through the washer with the bleach and white clothes and it remained brown with no bleach spots.I was convinced the bleach does not reach the whites. By the way, I use Clorox HE bleach and Tide HE soap and always washed the whites once with hot water and soap and then again with bleach and soap.

I then called LG for the third time and basically got nowhere. So again, I called another service man from county wide and he said there was nothing wrong with the machine even though I showed him the white towels that did not even close to getting clean. By the way, when I go to Florida for the winter, I use a coin operated machine and by the time a month has passed, my clothes come whiter than when I use my $2800 outfit home. Today I went to look for another washer and dryer because I can no longer use mine because I don't trust the cleanliness of my whites or colored. I then found out about the LG class action law suit. I hope I can join in as I have from the beginning hated what these machines stand for. The dryer takes too long to dry. Sometimes I have to dry twice. Where's the savings? There is so much more I could say negative about this expensive purchase we made, but I have not got the time or nerves to do so. Please let me know if I can become a part of this issue. Thank you.

My LG Washer under warranty quit working on the weekend of the 12-13th of June. I called the 800 number on Monday 14th and I was told it would be at least a week before they could get a service guy here. A week later, LG service guy comes out and says your filter is dirty, cleans filter runs bleach through washer and says it’s fixed. I put in a small load, came down 1 1/2 hrs later and the washer stopped at the 9 minute mark, the exact place it was the 1st time I called the repair service. I had talked to the LG repairman about the possibility of the problem being a bad drain pump.

Well, I called the warranty department back and explained the problem. I said that I have a bad pump and I know the drive repairman that was just here has one on his truck as we had a discussion about this. Can you please get this guy back here? This person insisted that they must call another repairman. Well, the repairman from expert Appliance Repair was out the next day. Guess what, he said, “You need a new Drain Pump. We will order it. It will take 3 to 4 days.” Well, this was 6/22/10, I called them on Friday, 6/25. I did my part. I asked if it come in yet. He replied, “No sir, it has not.”

So I call LG. I talk to call center and ask for a supervisor whose name is Stan. Stan tells me a mistake has been made and sees no order for my part. He assured me that my part will be air mailed in overnight, so I can have my washer working by Monday or Tuesday. I called Expert Appliance Monday part has not arrived. I called Stan. Stan does not know why part has not arrived. Stan will call back Expert Appliance and work on tracking number. I called Expert Appliance today, Tuesday the 29th. Expert Appliance has no good news for me. Unfortunately, they have not heard from Stan and will come out as soon as my part arrives.

Since my washer has been down, we have made 4 trips to the Laundry Mat. Each trip has cost us over 20 dollars. Stan said they will reimburse $15.00 a week for our problems. LG better take a good look at what washers and dryers cost at these places for families of 4. Anyway, I looked on the internet and I could have had this part delivered in 2 days regular freight for 45 bucks plus $7.95 shipping. Now, I’m going into the third week and do not know if I will ever get this thing fixed.

I would not recommend anybody buying a LG washer. This was bought at Home Depot. I myself have a physical disability, so I cannot go to the Laundry Mat to do our clothes. My wife works 5 to 6 days a week and doesn’t have time to run to a Laundry Mat after work. We have spent over 100 dollars as of today, when our next load has to be taken outside the house. And everybody has better things to do with their time than to deal with call centers who don’t [care] about who calls. LG has not heard the last of this. I still do not know if my washer will be fixed.

In 2007, I bought a new top load LG washing machine. When we talked to the LG representative, we explained that we are a family of six who does a lot of laundry. I asked how full we could fill the washer. He stated that we could fill it full and the clothes would get clean. Well, the clothes did not get cleaned and I had cut back on how full I fill the machine. Thus, having to do more loads of laundry with fewer clothes. I then had problems with a smell. I did purchase those tablet but felt that was not being efficient since I had to run the washer with no clothes and had to buy tablets which is an added expense.

I was still having smell problems so I was told to run an empty machine with 1 cup of bleach; which is still not saving me water. I now can only put about ten to twelve pieces of clothes in the washer in order for the washer to complete a cycle. If I put more than that, the washer will not complete the cycle and I have to start over; thus wasting more time and water. I am very dissatisfied with this washer and feel that the representative was not truthful with me.

I wipe down the seal after each wash and empty the drain once a week yet it continues to smell.

I ask the extended warranty company to take the machine apart to see if there is something that is deep within the machine and they refuse to do it. I pay for this warranty and they do nothing to help with the situation. The LG Tromm is not a cheap machine and the company should do something to resolve this ongoing issue. I spoke to Scott a supervisor from Head office in Mississauga Ontario about this issue. He just kept saying their scripted lines of how it must be you that is doing something wrong because there are no problems with the machine itself. Yet I explained all the things that I'm doing to keep the machine clean. The water stinks when I don't use the machine for a few days then it smells like rotten eggs. Scott then tried to tell me it is my detergent that I'm using which is Ecos HE. I feel that it’s never the manufactures problem it’s the customer’s problem.

I know that I had Sears’s products for many years with none of these issues. All so the warranty service from sears is much better than from the Brick. I do not use dryer sheets and I rarely use the dryer. I prefer my clothes line.

I put baking soda in my wash and use vinegar instead of bleach. Both these items along with cleaning the seal out should control the smell but it does not. Less than a year after purchasing I had to have the entire drum inside replaced. I got bounced around with customer service from LG and Best Buy and I wouldn't call it "customer service". Finally, after several weeks of trying to get my machine repaired I am still dissatisfied. I learned that there is only 1 service center near me that had repairmen that worked on LG machines. I had to contact this repair center several times because they would not return my calls due to waiting on LG to contact them to let them know if they would repair the machine or replace it. My whole point of purchasing this machine was for efficiency and that I would save a lot of time doing laundry by being able to wash larger loads of clothes, but to my disappointment it is just another chore added to my list because the machine requires weekly maintenance.

The smell of mildew in my machine is horrific. Not only do we all smell sour from washing our clothes in this machine, but we get to walk into our home and smell the aroma of mold and mildew coming from this machine. I am constantly pulling lint, dirt, and dog hair from around the rubber gasket to keep water from sitting on the bottom and not being able to drain through the holes that the water is "supposed" to be able to drain. I have tried everything to get rid of the smell, but nothing seems to work. The compartment where I pour the "he" laundry detergent and "he" softener stays wet and then starts to mildew. Again, another weekly maintenance. I have to leave the compartment and the door to the machine open all the time to dry out, but the problem still seems to persist. I would love to be able to go drop it off in the showroom where I purchased it from, because they obviously back the product up, and let them deal with the smell, but unfortunately I paid a lot of money for this machine so now I am stuck. So much for economical and efficient!

My LG front load washer and dryer were purchased May 25, 2005. The washer gives us the code LE at least twice per month. When I call LG they give me different ways to correct the problem. One is to unplug the washer for 30 minutes, then hold the on button for 5 seconds before pushing the no spin code and let the machine pump out the water, then hit the rinse and spin cycle. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. Once I get it working again, then it will work for a couple of weeks. This week the washing machine is still unplugged as it does not want to work. It fills with water and then gives me the LE code. The appliance company that repairs LG in my area is a small family owned business that does not give service. The daughters man the phones and they are so rude. I refuse to call them again. I will purchase a top load washer from someone else before I will have their "LG tech" come back into my home.

The dryer was running 2-3 hours to dry a normal load. I finally pulled the dryer out and was shocked to see the tube was packed with wet lint. I have never had a dryer do this. We clean the vent after every dry cycle. Now the dryer sounds like metal is rubbing against metal when you turn it on. As for the sour smell, the washer and dryer both have the bad smell. I am returning to front load washer. I have only owned 2 other W/D sets and they worked well for many, many years. I would still have them if I had not moved. I overpaid for the LG front load appliances. I also purchased an LG dishwasher. I had to have the motor replaced before the warranty ran out but LG does not pay for labor, so I paid $160.00 for an $80.00 part. Now the dishwasher is drying so hot that it is melting the rubber seal around the door. LG does not seem to care when I call and ask for help with these problems. I refuse to ever purchase another LG product.

Over the course of the first year, while it's still under warranty, I called the service center (which is very hard to reach) and spoke to the service people to schedule appointments. The appointments would have to take off an entire morning or afternoon from work to meet with them and sometimes they didn't show up!

They said that the washer shouldn't be upstairs, although it was set on a wet bed tile flooring that held 2 other models of washers before that, without shaking the entire house. They said that I used too much soap, 2 tablespoons being the allowable limit and otherwise the washer would leak. I now dribble a small amount of soap into the washer and most loads have to be washed twice to get them clean. The washer still shakes the entire house although they have "balanced" the machine. I will never purchase an LG appliance again. Please avoid them and that's all my advice! Good luck if you do.

I would like to make complaint on the poor function of LG washing machine. At the same mail, I have to express my extreme disappointment of LG Customer Care complaint resolution. I bought a washing machine with the model WF-T700 in December 2007. After several usages, I found out that the washing machine could not spin well and always stopped working. Besides, the machine whistled when drying. Still, it doesn't dry completely. At the same time, it doesn't clean as claimed, which leaves powder detergent on the clothes after washing.

I contacted LG Customer Care Line for help and have been given a reference number. Few checkings have been done from LG service technicians, but the problems were never solved. The descriptions of fault were washing machine is "sensitive" but the symptoms are "normal." The technicians told me that the washing machine could not function well if the quantity of clothes water-detergent level is below than L. At the same time, they did tell me that they never face such problem on others.

I kept calling, and lastly, I've been given the second reference number However, by sending numbers of technician, the machine never improved functioning. I need to wash my clothes with my own hands after purchasing an RM1000 washing machine! I've made complaints, and LG now states that I am refusing service, when in fact I am begging for service.

LG is not able to provide warranty service, then I want a refund which they promptly refused. The technician came again yesterday and stated that the sensor was lost. Ms. ** quoted me the cost of repair. I do not think this is reasonable, as this problem has been dragged for some time since it was still under the warranty period. I sincerely wish LG could settle the stated problems, and there should be no charge on the repair for the unsatisfactory product quality.

I purchased an LG Washer approximately 15 months ago. Since the date of purchase, I have had problems with the machine. The latest issue is the rubber around the inside of the door washer that has torn or possibly overheated therefore during wash cycle the machine leaks. I paid over $1300 for this machine. Also it continues to have an order. Though the warranty was only a year, I feel as though the cost of this product is ridiculous if you can't guarantee more than a year warranty. I should not have to pay for a serviceman to come out at my expense. I will never purchase another LG product. They should be embarrassed .

Three weeks ago, I placed a call to the Home Depot Extended Warranty company regarding my LG washing machine that I purchased at Home Depot in November 2007. Several days later, the company, Superior Electronics, came to my house and informed me that the part needed to repair my washing machine was not in-stock and that it would take at least one and a half weeks. When I complained that this is crazy, both the warranty company and the technician indicated that it is extremely difficult to get parts to fix the LG washing machine. If that is the case, why are these washing machines still being sold?

Yesterday, I waited patiently for the technician to fix my machine only to find out that the problem was misdiagnosed and so I begin the waiting game again. This time they tell me the part is in stock so hopefully they should have it in a couple of days. I've called the warranty company, the store I purchased it at and the Home Depot Customer Care Center and was told by all that there is nothing they can do about it.

It's completely insane that a washing machine that is not even three years old needs to be repaired and even crazier that no one will take responsibility. I will not shop at Home Depot and suggest that if you have even thinking of purchasing an LG washing machine, you think again. I am not a happy customer and hopefully will have a working washing machine before four weeks have passed.

I have an LG Tromm front loader washing machine which is only a few years old. I have already had to replace the drain pump, the drain hose about a year ago, and now, it is squeaking and not turning properly. It also has terrible mold smells on our clothes, and they end up with holds and tears in our clothes. I have thrown away so many towels due to mold because it doesn't come out.

No one in the Orlando area will even service the machines due to parts not being readily available. So I have had to become a technician myself. I now have to spend more money on parts for this machine. The most common codes are LE, UE, and FE codes that it returns. I have a friend who has the same machine with the same issues happening to her now.

I should add that I regularly clean the bottom of the rubber ring very meticulously, which is very inconvenient and time consuming. I can validate the issue of the dancing washing machine. If it becomes unbalanced during the spin cycle, it does not have an automatic shutoff. It is very dangerous and a major design flaw. It is very difficult to know how to keep this from happening. In trying varied remedies, the best I have been able to do is to reduce the spin cycle to low or medium, but yesterday it did not help. I washed two ordinary bathroom rugs and the rubber gasket twisted up around the seal with the addition of frantic jumping around and banging into walls. This happened with the spin cycle on low! I would love to join a class action lawsuit against LG. This is absolutely the worst and the third, I have ever owned.

Consumer Reports led me to this one and I am so mad. I bought it from Best Buy too. I never had one that would not shut off when unbalanced. The repairman who came out last week, to tell me nothing was wrong with it, told me how to avoid the "dancing" machine. I don't know what to do now. Customer service insists that it must be unbalanced on the floor. Even the repairman said it was sitting on the floor as it should. What about it, LG? Are you going to recall these lemons? Somebody out there must hear us! This is money out of pocket. I cannot leave the home while the washer is on due to this problem. House could flood if it pulls too far from wall.

No matter how many times I run the tub cycle or run bleach through my washer, it smells of mold and mildew. If you close the door for more then 24 hours it smells of mold and mildew. I just washed a load of white clothes that were cleaner when I put them into the washer than when I took them out. I took out the white and thought what was all over them. I started looking around and pulled back the seal and about died. I could not believe it mold everywhere. No wonder, no matter what you do you cannot get it clean or the smell to stop.

I called LG and they told me I have to do monthly maintenance on my washer. What? I have to do monthly maintenance, I have owned other washers and dryers that did not cost nearly the amount I paid for these and I never had to do monthly service, yet I have to preform monthly maintenance on these and every time I do a load, I have to pull back the seal and dry it out with a towel so it does not get mold and mildew. Really? So I will never have all of my laundry done because I always have to use a towel to dry out the seal that does not properly drain and makes my house and clothes stink. Yes, say's LG, it is all in the owners manual. Are you kidding me?! Please tell me how this is my fault and why I have to do extra maintenance every time I wash clothes because of their seal?

My son has had hives and been in the ER twice and we cannot, for the lives of it, figure it out. Well, I think I just did. My husband is very allergic to mold and cannot take certain prescriptions because of it, yet, he has gone to the doctor numbers of times not feeling well or right and they cannot figure it out. I think I just did. LG stinks and I do not recommend them to anyone! LG did say they would call out one of their service techs but I would have to flip the bill for it. Really? Because I am pretty sure it will be cheaper to buy a new washer that I do not have to do a monthly service on to maintain it! LG also went and found a product called "Whirlout", which is not made by them to help get the mold smell out.

Really? LG goes and finds a product and tells you, you can buy it at any hardware store yet they don't believe they have a problem, Why would anyone go find a product and recommend it if they do not have a problem? I will never spend another dime on any of their products! They are not helpful! P.S., I have had my dryer fixed 3 times in 3 years. The dryer takes double the time to dry at least and even the LG maintenance said they had a problem with the dryer drums. Yet, they have had no recalls and are not willing to do anything. What a company! Clothes are ruined, my son has been in the ER twice with hives, my husband is allergic to mold and cannot take certain prescriptions and he has not been feeling or right.

I bought my washer and my dryer on 2007. I was so happy because of all of the new technology that I was bringing home, without knowing the nightmare that I was about to get into. For the last 20 years, I have had front loader washers and I had never had to let the door open to avoid the bad smell. I never had the need to take a course to learn how to operate a washer what it seems I need to do now. My clothes come out dirty after almost two hours in the washer. I have tried different soaps, less or more quantity of soap. I have bought the new soaps that they sell now to keep the drum clean. I have Clorox to clean the drum, after doing my laundry.

I have called LG several times and I have gotten the same answers that I have read here. I called the technician because I also bought the extended warranty and the technician even told me that for the issue that I called him, he should have charged me because there was nothing wrong with my washer. He even told me that my washer is clean, so the bad smell was not caused due to lack of cleaning. I have been really desperate because I spent an amount of money that I was hoping was going to last me for at least 10 to 15 years. After looking for alternatives on people that is having the same problem (and I have to say that there are many people with the same problem and LG doesn't want to address it), somebody wrote that the problem was caused due to the small amount of water that this washer use to wash.

This person recommended to add 1 gallon of water during the washing cycle and to always use the extra rinse cycle. After three years using my washer for the first time, two weeks ago, I feel that my clothes is coming out of the washer clean. You don't buy new appliances to go through all of this problem. What is more sad is that they know about this problem and they don't give the support to their customers that they are supposed to give. We trust their products and we should get our trust back. Really disappointing.

Well Protek Industries were nice enough to send a service tech out and he determined that the thermostat was bad but he wasn't sure if his boss Protek would order the part due to the past history of LG accounting not paying them in the past. Well they ordered the part anyway (great customer service).

I just called LG customer service and was told that they just contacted Protek and that they were waiting for the part! How stupid is that? I knew that Protek was waiting for the part. I want to know if and when the part was shipped from LG! Well the customer service person put me on hold again while he contacted his parts people and lo and behold, they (LG) hadn't sent the part because their accounting department was waiting for Protek to call them. I purchased a front loading LG Tromm Steam Washer and matching dryer from Home Depot about 3 years ago. I had a Sears Kenmore washer/dryer from 1980, yes, 1980, wedding presents, that still performed. It had been repaired a few times, but nothing so major it warranted a new machine. The matching drying took awhile to dry the clothes, but it still worked only having a few thermostats replaced over the years. The last time it was repaired, the repairman said, "Don't ever get rid of these--" (Yeah, he just wants job security, I thought) because the new washers and dryers are junk.”

But, my husband thought it was time to upgrade in light of all the new technological advancements. Unfortunately, the mold/mildew smell has never completely gone away, and the smell that has diminished is only due to continually leaving the washer door completely opened when not in use and the persistent maintenance on my part; otherwise, I would be paying for a "certified LG technician" to "maintain" the machine, even with my extended warranty. I have had a certified LG technician out for the smell one time; "the professional" answer: wipe down the gasket and glass door and leave the door open. The tech was also here to repair the dryer, which was taking anywhere from two - three hours to dry one normal household load of clothes: a couple of towels, underwear, socks, t-shirts, etc.

It worked for a while but seems again to taking an extended period of time to dry the clothes. I can live with the dryer problem, but the washer is a whole different story. I cannot stand the smell of mildew/mold on what should be "clean" clothes. When toweling off after a shower/bath, the moisture seems to reactivate the mildew/mold smell, so now, not only does the towel reek, I have transferred the smell to my "clean" body. Yuck! Lesson learned: try to snag a towel that doesn't smell bad before anyone else--what a way to live! Clearly, LG Tromm has a design issue with the washer. However, rather than acknowledge the issue, like Toyota finally did, and replace the gaskets with a better design, they have buried their heads in the piles of money they have received due to the thousands of products sold.

If you want to speak to a customer service representative supervisor, you must call Monday to Friday, 8-5, which doesn't mean you will actually get one of them on the phone, but that's their standard work hours. I guess all those unsupervised customer service reps just run rampant at night and on the weekends. Imagine not having one boss there with all of those workers--it must be utter chaos! Now, when your only option is an underling, the company has instructed the customer service representative to basically read from a script: "Empty the drain line, remove and clean the filter, using a bleach and water solution, and another bucket of only water and a towel, wipe down the gasket but don't use straight bleach because you will damage the gasket. Pull the gasket toward you to get to the scum and mold. Use a brush. Use a large paint brush, the kind you use to paint your house.”

Of course the suggestions go on and on. My response is, "You still don't know the part I'm trying to clean!". The gray rubber gasket is one large piece, but it visually appears to be two - three pieces. Cleaning the section farthest from the steel tub is no problem. You put your thumb on the indentation and pull toward you, wipe, solution, rinse, and dry--good so far. Moving in toward the tub, the next section appears to be an inch raised ridge, this is where you meet your nemesis. The next section, at first glance, looks like three rectangular boxes were cut out, but when you pull it toward you; you find that it is actually a cut out, leaving two tabs in the middle with the remainder of the gasket continuing on both sides.

So, you try to pull up the tabs to get all the gunk you've discovered. But, the miniscule amount you can lift the tabs only allows you to get a quick peek at the washer tub and the opening where the tub sits. Under the tabs in my case, is a mixture of dirt, lint, mildew, dog hair, soap scum, and mold. Let me tell you, that is not pleasant smell! So, how to get that "environmentally hazardous stuff" out of there? First, I tried a washcloth--nope; next, I tried a narrow kitchen sponge--nope; next, I tried a narrow, less dense children's paint sponge with a handle--nope; next, I tried a toothbrush—nope.

When I told the customer service rep that I didn't think that he understood the location I was trying to clean, he assured me that he did and followed with, "I'm looking at three visual diagrams of the problem and the suggested solution." Okay, great! I'm thinking, and then I asked, "Would you email those three visuals to me, so I can see exactly what you are talking about and make sure that this is the same location I'm asking about. " Again, he read from the script, "No, I can't send you these; it goes against company policy; we are not allowed to let you see these visuals."

And ending with, "If you can't get to the location, you will need to schedule a customer service technician to come out and maintain the machine. You will have to pay for this service because it is not provided for in your warranty.” My response: "No, I won't be paying someone to perform maintenance on your product, which clearly has a bad design that's LG's problem. Why can't you email me a copy of the visuals? Is it a secret or something? I'm the consumer that bought the product--.I'm the one that has the problem with the product, so why can't I have the visual of the product with the suggestions for me to remedy my situation?".

His response--the same script. So, if LG wants consumers to continue to purchase their products, and more importantly wants to produce the best product, why won't they listen to all of the consumer complaints, redesign the gasket, have a recall on them, repair the problem, and show some goodwill to the consumers? Heck, they might even be able to sell more products if they can earn the consumers trust again. During these lean economic times, consumers cannot afford to purchase their "top-of-the-line products" and then discover the products are poorly designed and do not perform as they are advertized/represented. This really smacks of a class action suit if you ask me. I'm stuck with an expensive washer that leaves my clothes and myself reeking of mildew.

I purchased an LG Washer and Dryer at PC Richard on 10/05/03. I have been paying for extended service contracts through PC Richard since I purchased the set. Right from the beginning, the washer had molds around the rubber in the front of the machine. It has been replaced at my expense because it was not covered under the extended service contract. Now, I have to clean it with Clorox in order to alleviate some of the mold smell but the black is still there. The dryer has been a problem from day one. The circuit board had been replaced a number of times because it wasn't drying properly and the timed drying was off. It was drying delicates over 60 minutes when it should have been drying at 30-32. All the other settings were off also.

After a number of service calls and circuit board replacements, the machine was replaced because it could not be fixed. I was given another LG and according to the serviceman, the issues were supposedly addressed by LG. The same problems happened since day one. Again, the circuit board was replaced a number of times. Thankfully, I had my extended warranty. Now, I've been told LG is not offering the warranty through PC Richard (that's what PC Richard tells me).

My last service call on the extended warranty was on 3/1/2010 and it was for, once again, the circuit board. It was replaced and the service guy said the old one was very hot when he removed it. Thankfully, the part has a warranty of 90 days and today, 3/25/2010, while using the dryer it started to smell like something was burning. I'm afraid that this machine is going to catch fire. The service guy will come and replace the circuit board again for the last time and I'll be right back where I was before but now without a service contract. And I'll have to pay out of pocket for a situation that will never be resolved because LG has not addressed the problem. It's time for a recall of these dryers!

In March 2009, I purchased a LG front loader washer and dryer from H.H. Gregg with the assurances from the salesman that they were the best on the market. This was a $2,000 purchase that I had to think long and hard about. After delivery, the dryer whistled when drying. The repairmen looked at it, started it and listened to the whistle. The dryer was replaced. Still, even though the whistle is gone, the dryer doesn't dry completely and the technician told me we would normally have to run the drying cycle at least twice to completely dry the clothes.

The washing machine is another story. It doesn't clean as claimed, leaves dirt and lint on top of the door glass after washing, will not rinse the small amount of HE soap we use out of our clothes and takes a tremendously long time to wash the same clothes our 15 year old Whirlpool did better and quicker. (We actually use the recommended amount of HE soap when washing.) The lint trap stays soapy and no amount of rinsing seems to be able to take care of this.

During the two or three service calls that were made on the washing machine, all the repairman did was clean up against the dryer, brag about how good he was and how the other appliance manufacturers were begging him to come back to service their appliances. With his knee pads on and carrying a tool pouch, he looked as though he was going to work. The only tool he used was a flashlight to look inside the washing drum and told me that by using liquid detergents, I had gummed up the insides so it wouldn't clean.

He stated that I needed to use powder detergents and stop using liquid softeners, switching to dryer sheets instead. He also stated that my clothes were to dirty for the LG washer and I needed to go to Lowe's and purchase a $50 trade-in to wash my work clothes. His statement that my LG wasn't able to clean my clothes is laughable and repugnant. During the last service call, he was more interested in the new refrigerator I was having installed, chatting with the installers and trying to hire them as repairmen working for him.

I have contacted LG six times in the past week trying to get one final attempt at service before the warranty runs out. Speaking with customer service representatives, I have been given the names of three or four other repairmen who were on their list of authorized servicers, but in fact none were. The only one who is authorized is the blowhard braggart who has been here previously and has not turned the first nut or screw to try to rectify the problem. Now a supervisor who claims to be the highest I can contact says that I can get service, only it has to be the repairman who doesn't repair.

LG now states that I am refusing service when in fact I am begging for service, just not the bozo who simply brags about how good he is. Evidently, this repairman has a monopoly on servicing LG appliances in my area and LG refuses to have someone else from another area come to look at my washing machine.

I stated that if LG is not able to provide warranty service then I want a refund which they promptly refused. Their answer was that I would have to go to H.H. Gregg for a refund. Or, if H.H. Gregg could provide a repairman, then LG would have to authorize him for warranty service. All I am asking for is service. If service can't or won't be provided, then I want a refund so I can purchase another brand that I can actually have serviced when required.

I have been searching all morning for info on an issue I have been having with an LG washing machine. Although I have not found any info on exactly what I am looking for, I did see plenty of basic complaints about LG laundry products. Now, let me start by saying that I am not advocating for LG, but there are defect issues listed that are caused by consumers. For instance, the horrid smell of mildew! Did you know that an overuse of detergent, fabric softener, etc. will cause build up inside the machine? A lot of the time, not even clean cycles and hot water, bleach, etc. will not fix the problem.

So here is the solution...stop using so much. The mixture of the different scents that we all love makes for a stinky cocktail after sitting in your machine and not dissolving. HE machines are so because of the tiny consumption of energy and especially water. Smaller amounts of water require smaller amounts of detergent. The 1 line on your detergent's cap is plenty to accomplish your fullest heaviest load. Try it.

So, once we have developed proper soap, etc. usage, then we can start to have effectiveness in clean cycles, etc. And people, leave that washer door cracked when not in use. You do realize that it is a water-tight seal with the door closed. And all washers hold water in the pumps, so leave the door open and let it dry out or at least start to until next load.

Another is the "out of balance" issue. I have encountered quite a few circumstances when it comes to this. Yes, being off-grade will have a big impact on stability. So reinforce your washer by placing at least 3/4-inch plywood under both washer and dryer(if side-by-side) and screw it down.

Also, loads of mixed items, or too much and not enough will cause vibration. Front-load washers centrifuge (or axis drum rotates on) is vertical; meaning, when your machine is in full spin, it is dispersing the weight up and down and not side to side like on your traditional top-load washer. This is going to cause vibrations, period. The main thing is to make sure that your machine is leveled and all lock nuts are locked on your leveling legs. Leveled does not mean 100% flat on all corners. I like to have a slight lean backwards on my washers to keep the weight of the clothes from shifting to the front during wash and spin.

Now for dryers. Long dry times? Check your vent outside. The same amount of air blowing out the back of the dryer should be outside. If not, then there are some type of restrictions in your vent (water, lint, or maybe just a kinked vent tubing behind the machine).

Clothes still damp after a cycle complete on auto or sensing cycles? Clean your sensing bars. These bars are on the inside right side of the lint trap. Two stainless bars. Over time they develop build up of all your excess detergent (from what I mentioned above), etc. which mainly consists of wax( which repels water). To clean, simply take sand paper or anything abrasive (nail file) and etch those sensing bars up. In most cases, that will correct the problem!

This info I have provided will not only work on your LG laundry products but on all front-load washer and dryers.

I did and they only had one service company in my area. I was familiar with them and knew it would be a hassle. They never returned my call (this is normal for them) so I ordered the part from a local appliance part store who carries LG parts. The cold water valve was the culprit.

It cost me $78 for the valve and it was fixed and able to be used on Tuesday 03/16/2010. I had clothes to wash you know, it's not like I could wait for 2 weeks to get it fixed and Best Buy wouldn't replace it. I called LG and asked them to reimburse me for the valve and I would send the faulty one along with the receipt. They not only said no, they said I voided my warranty by fixing it myself! I called my handyman, he also has front loaders. He helped me level the machine again and lock it down. No change to the bouncing. At one point, it walked 2 feet across the floor during a medium spin cycle.

I've had LG service techs out about 5 times. Their first response was that I had put too much detergent (huh?) into the machine. Then they said that I had probably loaded jeans and t-shirts into the machine together and since the jeans are heavier than the t-shirts, well that caused the washer to walk. After I pointed out that it was walking even if I ran one towel through, then they said that it was because my house is built on a crawl space and front loaders are not meant to run over a crawl space (of course, no one at Home Depot has ever heard that one).

The LG service guy suggested that I have my laundry room floor rebuilt and reinforced. It just so happens that I was re-doing the kitchen anyway, so I had the floors reinforced and had a floor jack installed directly under the washer. It still walks around if I use the normal cycle. I have to wash everything on the delicate cycle, or the thrashing is so extreme that I'm afraid it's going to damage the walls or pull out the hose.

I had a GE service guy out to fix my new microwave at the same time I was running a load of clothes. The GE service guy (who was great - love my GE appliances!) told me that front loaders may have issues with crawl spaces, but not anywhere near the amount of vibration that I was experiencing. In his opinion, I had a lemon. Of course, LG blames all issues on my crawl space, so they will not replace the unit.

I will never buy another LG appliance as long as I live.
