I will never purchase another front load washer again. You apparently are unable to off set problems with a load when it becomes unbalanced. I continually stop the washer, readjust the load but it will not complete a final spin on many items, mattress covers and various sizes of rugs or blankets. With a top load, you are able to redistribute the items and it continues the cycle with no problems!

I purchased the unit approximately 5 years ago. Last fall, it started getting LE error codes. I did some internet research and found this site. Wow, had I known they sell the same crap in Canada as elsewhere and service is no better here, I never would have purchased this had I known. Anyway, I replaced the hull sensor thanks to the internet and saved hundreds on a service call. By the way, it is a major defect with these machines. Even though that was done, I still had the same LE code. I checked the internet again and found that the water pump is also an issue with drain tube clogging or pump malfunctioning. Also, the reason for the smell is that pump is below the tub, which means it never drains completely and leaves water and junk in pump. Hence, the smell. The only way to completely empty water from tub is to remove drain plug on tubing (coin access from front) and draining it manually or go through the speed cycle. Anyway, for expensive machines, they are not built to last and customer service is horrible. Shame on LG!

I purchased my LG washer (WT5001C) at my local Home Depot on 7/2/2011. On 2/6/12, it wouldn't spin out the water. I called and they gave me the phone number of A & E Services. I spoke with them on 2/27/12 and they couldn't look at it until 3/8/12 when they told me the motor and the mainboard in the computer were gone. They said it would take another week and a half to get the parts (if they were in stock) because they were coming from Korea. I don't think I would ever buy another LG product!

Well, it seems that every time I turn around now something goes wrong with my machine (LG washer). At first, I thought it was the best investment ever. After the warranty expired, it seemed that the rubber that goes in front of the machine that seals the door closed has a slit on it. New part would be around $100.00 plus labor. It seems that we need to have someone out here all the time. We just had it repaired because the computer needed to be reset. We have had it serviced 4 times. Really, why are they so expensive if they are going to need all these repairs after 4 or 5 years of purchase?

From day 1, my machine leaked. I called and was told it was due to using too much detergent. I thought that may be the problem and used below the normal line every cycle. Still sporadically, there are leaks below the machine. As I called and was told over and over again, my machine is fine. I let my machine go out of warranty. Now beyond leaking, it stops mid-cycle often so I have to sit next to the machine while washing clothes to restart it and finish cycles. Beyond that, sometimes it gets stuck at 9 minutes left and starts spinning and stops spinning over and over again. Beyond that, when it is filling up, the valves close so quickly it causes all the pipes in my house to shake and bang causing leaks in pipes. Something needs to be done about this. LG should stand behind their product.

Model # wm2688HWM: We bought this washer from HH Gregg 5 years ago. The extended warranty was for 5 years. The door on the front of the machine is broken or is not sealed right, 4 different times in the last 5 years. Now, it is doing it again, both leaking water and not sealing. Now, there is no warranty. I feel that LG should replace this washer due to the trouble that we have had with this $1,200 unit. I have receipts on all that was done. This is a lemon!

I purchased an LG washing machine in Oct. 2007 at Best Buy. The washing machine rubber seal showed signs of mold within the first 6 months. I was told to keep the door open, but with animals and children here, this is impossible to do. The smell of mold is not pleasant. In 2010, I began to have electronic issues with the machine flashing the code "le". I had 3 service calls for this problem (August, September, and December of 2010). The service tech would check the machine and circuit board for each call. This cost me $68.50 per visit. The same electronic issue code, "le", began again in 2011.
I have had 2 service calls (March and December). The same "fix it" job checked the circuit board. Again, the cost was $68.50 per visit. Now, in 2012, I have had 2 more service calls (February and March) for the same electronic issue, which cost me $68.50 and $119.00 respectively, for labor fees, to have the service tech do a full load of laundry! I was told that I needed to put heavier loads of laundry? After the tech left, I did a heavy load of laundry, and the machine again flashed the same electronic code, "le"!
I have another service call tomorrow. They will now replace the circuit board (for around $300.00), but they told me that it might be another problem, like the motor. The total cost is around $461.50. LG does not produce good products. My advice to anyone looking at this brand is the old saying, "buyers, beware!”. Shop for another brand!

We also splurged and purchased the LG combo after being told they were the best. We had them 4 months and the washer began to leak. We had the service people out 7 times. Of course, it would not leak when they were here. We also had the disgusting odor and high-pitched scream when filling with water. The service men informed us that it could no way be their problem--it had to be something we did. They also had no idea how to get rid of the smell.
We were still under warranty at the time. I had to keep taking off time from work to be here when they were here. The last time they were here, though, I walked in on one of them talking to their dispatcher complaining that they had been here several times and they were making no money on this call. Isn't that great? I have a faulty washer and dryer and they are worried about money? What about the money we spent on these relics?
Needless to say, that was the last time they were here. I just happened to ask a sales lady at Home Depot about the odor and she told me about the front panel and draining that tube and actually running Clorox bleach through the machine. She also said do not use Downy whatever you do as it builds up on the drum and does not come off and always leave the washer door open. But, now, there’s a new problem: the light never goes off in the washer. It used to. I emailed LG and their response was you need a service call. Are you kidding? If there is a class action suit, I want in. I have not talked to one person that is happy with their machine!

On June 6, 2010 I bought an LG wm2301hr washer from Best Buy. Today we found that this washer had a slow leak in a faulty valve at the top of this unit that must have been leaking for a while. It was just a slow steady drip for a long time until today 3-2-2012. The way we found was that there’s a moldy smell in the closet behind the wash room with lots of black mold growing under the baseboards. Now, we have ruined carpet, ruined clothes, ruined sheetrock and baseboards and a washer that I have to fix myself. I expected a lot more quality for an $1100.00 washer. Best Buy said sorry. LG said sorry out of warranty. Wow, with the water dripping on the motor, I don’t even know if the machine is safe to put back in service. Any help would be great!

I purchased the LG WM0642H from Home Depot on Feb. 12, 2007. We were told it was the best and most efficient energy and water saving machine. It has left the towels dirty and musty/moldy odor. The towels can only be used one time and they have to be washed again. I use all the right HE products. I quit using liquid Downy, thinking that was the cause of the build up.
I use the washer cleaner that Tide makes and it does no good. All these products just cost more to operate the machine. We have the vibration in the adjoining rooms that shake the walls, during the spin cycle. We paid for an extended warranty that ended 2010, but when I had them out during that time, they couldn't find any problems. They just reprimanded me to use the HE products; although that is all I use.
Truly, when is this product going to be taken off the market and the truth be told? I will certainly use the word of mouth to all that will listen. This is a blight on America to sell something this inferior. The next machine I buy will be the tried and true top loading with plenty of water and it will surely clean the clothes.

We have had our LG 2301HR Direct Drive Front Loading washer going on two years. First of all, when the washer starts its water loading process, the valves close so forcefully and quickly that the water pipes throughout the house clang, bang and shake. You can not only hear them but you can feel them. To make matters worse, the closing of the valves are frequent and many throughout a wash cycle. This is a major design flaw.
Secondly, I am replacing today the cold water inlet tri-valve system due to a water leak that developed in one of the valves (most likely due to the water loading process). I believe this will fix the water leak but unfortunately it will not affect the rapid shutoff process that created it. Hence, the part is only 35 bucks but that is with me doing the work and finding the problem. Too soon to be having problems with repair or replacement and I feel this solution to be only palliative.
Third, yes I, too, have the same problems with all clothing having a moldy, musky odor. This has been since day one. We have tried and are still trying ways mentioned by the other reviewers with little to no resolution. The clothes do not smell clean because of the mold problem and it is obvious some soil is remaining in the clothing. Overall, the initial price tag of the washer made it a big decision for our family. It, too, was a replacement for our older top loader that worked just fine.
We were sold on the idea that it was much more energy efficient and would pay for itself in time with the energy and water savings. LG is making inferior washing machines at the cost of our ignorance or belief that we are buying a better product. They are deemed defective presented by the problematic facts as testified by the reviewers/owners. The health issue alone (mold and mildew) should be enough for the Federal Health Dept to intervene.
What about the BBB (Better Business Bureau)? Someone getting paid off?! What happened to our rights as consumers? Our forefathers are turning over in their graves. My "seasonal allergies" have become year-round chronic and come to think of it...it has been for the last two years. Go figure.

My LG washer and dryer are pieces of junk. The washer stinks like mold and mildew. It does not get the clothes clean. I have to start the load, let it run about 5 to 10 minutes to get everything wet and soapy then I stop the load to let it soak for an hour. That's the only thing that helps get the clothes clean or I have to soak them in the sink before washing them in the washer. It's supposed to be a large capacity washer but I have to keep the loads small. I've pulled out things that don't even feel wet and still smell dirty after running through a cycle. There's also rust around the place where the soap goes and chunks of rusty metal are starting to fall off into the loads. The dryer almost immediately started messing up. The lint tray had a felt-like edge around the rim that's supposed to stop lint from going outside the tray. That peeled off within a month and it doesn't stop all the lint now. It runs really hot, so if you use the auto settings it will just turn off. I have to use the time buttons to get it to stay on. It can't be run any higher than low or it will cook your clothes. I'm sure it's a fire hazard. I'm saving up money so I can get a new set and it will definitely not be an LG set!

LG needs to have a class action lawsuit filed against them or we all need to file claims against them in small claims court. We have most of the same issues as everyone else: Tromm LG washer and dryer. Washer model WM2277HW and dryer model DLG5988W. The washer smells like mold and always has. Slimy, moldy gasket, towels and bathroom rugs come out smelling like a barn, especially the washcloths. Soap dispenser does not drain properly; dryer does not dry. We have had multiple service calls and nothing gets more than a temporary fix or they declare they can't find anything wrong. These units were supposed to be the best and we have been putting up with them far too long.

My LG Tromm washing machine has been one problem after another from Day 1. It shakes so much that the floor vibrates and shakes the walls and has done this since I did my very first load of laundry in it. I have had 3 technicians come out to try to "level" the machine or fix the problem with no success. Secondly, the mildew smell that I have on my clothes will not go away. I leave my door open after every wash, clean the tub and rubber seals with bleach daily, and the odor is still very apparent. I purchased my washer and dryer in 2005, and I have hated it every single day I have used it. What's even worse, I paid nearly $4000 for the machines and the pedestals. What a joke! Class action lawsuit all the way!

We replaced older but well-functioning washer and dryer with the upright LG. We were told by the salespersons that this was the best although expensive system. The research we read also led us to believe we were making a great investment. Wrong! The smell and mold that builds up is unbearable. Our room downstairs smells moldy ever since we began using our machine. The washer shakes horribly. We also had an LG serviceman come twice. We paid for his time, travel and service to adjust the legs of the machine. It still shakes and now leaks. Of course, this all started happening once the year warranty expired.
When I contacted the LG company directly about the problems, I was directed to use the LG service repair. Beyond disappointed and frustrated. We are worried about the negative impact we may experience with our health with the constant mold that continues to plague the machine. After reading all the logs, something needs to be done about this problem! LG WM2233HW.

I purchased an LG washer and dryer at Sears in Overland Park, KS. I have had service out twice complaining about dirty, dingy clothes and a loud banging sound when the washer is "filling" with water.
Both times, I was told to use a high efficiency detergent and 1-2 tablespoons of detergent. I have complied. My clothes are still dirty and dingy. We have taken to soaking the whites in the sink in a Clorox solution to bring them back. I feel as though I might as well get a washboard out and do the laundry by hand.
I replaced my upright washer, which was doing a fine job, so that I could have a quiet washer. The noise is louder and the clothes are embarrassingly dirty to the point where I cannot wear them.
Nothing has changed in our laundry, same clothes, same people and same amount of wear. We do not perform any manual labor that would create unusually dirty clothes. My husband uses his washables to lie on the couch and watch television. I am a homemaker who hires out all of the dirty work. We both do workout, regularly. In theory, we are a washing machine's dream customers.
I hired a plumber to deal with the loud bang in the pipes and he told me it was the solenoid. Today, the solenoids were replaced and there is no change in the loud banging in the pipes. If anyone in the house is asleep, the washer cannot be operated because of the very loud bangs.

LG front load washer (WM0642HW) - The washer vibrates horribly when in the spin cycles! Our whole house shakes! You can hear the vibration outside the home! The floor vibrates when washer is in spin cycle! We have bought several different kinds/brands of "shock-absorbers" and installed them under each "leg" of the washer. Still no help! This is obviously a manufacturing defect. We called LG and they sent a certified LG appliance repair man to our home. All he would tell us was: "LG makes a great product and use less than half the recommended amount of detergent to control the ‘smell’.” This is my second contact to you. Do you have other complaints against LG for this same problem? LG should replace my unit. I am willing to trade down just to get rid of this vibration! I have matching dryer. Together, these appliances were $1900.00!

I purchased an LG front loader washer in 2006. We have been dealing with the smell, but more importantly the mold. You can smell it on your clothing and towels after each wash. We have tried everything possible to get rid of both. I have developed many health problems, especially respiratory, in the past 5 years. I can not believe from reading all the complaints about the mold in the washers, that nobody has done a thing about it. Mold causes very serious heath problems in humans, especially children. I don't know about you all, but I'm going to sue LG. You should too. If you're getting ill, that mold in your washer could be causing it.

Since the first week I had LG, it made my clothes smell. Despite calling LG, and having a service company come out, the smell won't go away. I have a sick person with cancer, and they cannot lay on the sheets, because it makes them nauseous. I have to take the wash to my son's house. This is totally unacceptable. I have allergies, and the smell is giving me headaches. LG needs to take this machine back, because there is something gravely wrong. The reason is it does not empty all the water out, and sits in the machine. The water gets smelly, and goes into the clothes.
To sit on the floor and empty the water after each wash, is unacceptable. Bleaching and numerous cleaning doesn't help, as long as it holds at least a gallon of water all the time. Please recall the LG front load model WM042HW/01. According to LG, this is normal, and are trying to say it is the soap/detergent that is the problem. This is not so. It is a water problem that always remains in the machine getting musty.

The Sears tech put in a new heater unit, it made no difference. It did spin counterclockwise. Of course, the warranty ended three and a half months prior to this problem. The technician told me he reconnected the bolt on the inside and it should be good for a few days. He told me that he assumed that I washed large loads. Why wouldn't I wash large loads? That is why I bought a large capacity washer. Stupid assumption! Anyway, he told me it would cost $350 to replace and repair the part. I purchased an LG Front Load Washer (model:WM2688HWM) on 8/19/06 from Best Buy, for $1,349.99, plus pedestal for $179, 2-pack of hoses for $26.99=$1,555.98 plus $101.14 for tax. My total payment was $1,657.12. In addition, we purchased the 5 year service plan from Best Buy for $199.99. Our total investment was $1,857.11. The unit was delivered on 9/15/06. Exactly 5 years and one month after delivery and 1st use in 2006, on 10/15/2011, our machine flashed "tE" on the display, and we could not use the machine, and we were out of warranty by 1 month. An authorized LG technician was called, and he came out, ordered a new thermostat, and replaced it on 10/24/11. 3 weeks later, on 11/18/11, the machine stopped, and again flashed "tE" on the display panel. The technician was not able to come out right away, so a new thermostat was installed on 12/3/11.
On 1/31/2012, the machine flashed "tE", is not working, and again I am waiting for the Authorized Technician to come. I called LG Customer Service this morning, (1-800-243-0000). The rep I spoke to was very nice, but could only give the answers he is trained to give. I then spoke to a very nice supervisor, who was also well trained to give non-helpful answers to the consumers. My first washer lasted 22 years, and it was not an LG. I never had a service call for a thermostat problem on that washer, but did replace it once on the dryer.
At that time we were a family of 6. The children played sports. We did a lot of laundry, but the machine was made well, and I paid a fair price for a product that was predicted to last 20 years, but lasted longer. With all the laundry we did, I would have been thrilled had it lasted only 15. This LG has cost much more money. Our youngest was a senior in high school, and then left for college when we bought it, so basically I have done laundry for my husband and I, who don't get terribly dirty, and the machine was used 2 or 3 times a week.
The repair man is now here, and the new thermostat he has installed is still flashing "tE". He said he has spoken to the company, and was told that " the problem could not possibly be the 'main board', that it has to be the thermostat". He is on the phone with them now. I will pay for another service call today, but as soon as I send this email, I am going to start researching and determine what washing machines have a better service record. I have been told that LG has such great technology, but what benefit is good technology, if it cannot be incorporated into a product that will work for a reasonable length of time?

After my husband returned home from Iraq, we thought we deserved an upgrade of our 15 year old hand-me-down washer and dryer. We purchased the LG front loading washer (model # WM2487HRM). It began smelling horribly, not long after. We have had to leave the door and the dispenser drawer open, put dryer sheets in to help with smell in between washes, regularly try to "wipe out" the disgusting rubber seal, after every wash, because of the remaining water, and still it stinks. The printing on the machines is rubbing off, and the "seams" on the exterior of the dryer seem to be disintegrating.
Every time I wipe it clean, the color of the machine (red) wipes off! We also have terrible vibrations with it. On January 18, 2012, we had a "service technician" come to check why it sounded like it was so far off balance, that it was going to crack the interior. Of course, the extended warranty provider, Federal Warranty Service Corporation, sent out the repair company of their choosing. He checked that the machine was indeed level (we already tried that), still it shook so bad that he had to remove the top of the washer, and proceeded to tell me "wow! You should see how bad it is! That thing was going "crazy" inside there!" He said the "bearing" was bad, and warned that with continued use, it might seize up.
He also said that he wouldn't even attempt to replace it, because of the man hours it would require, and they only pay him a flat fee of $95 to repair it. It just wasn't worth his time. He said he would contact the service contract provider with the recommendation, to replace the machine altogether, and even recommended that we get a top loader next time! We still haven't gotten any resolution, and our washer is worse than ever! LG, Home Depot, and Federal Warranty Service Corporation should all be ashamed of themselves for producing, selling, and attempting to maintain service contracts on this washing machine! Fix for mildew smell in LG washer: Use a half cup or so of plain old cheap vinegar in every load. It takes the smell away. Add it with the detergent you use. We use 2 or 3 cups in heavy loads of towels. Our old top loader, my mother's front loader, and our new LG all needed it. Nothing we ever did took the smell away. For us it was a combination of the water in our town and our washers. Just try it. Your clothes will not smell like vinegar. We hated that smell and this fixed it. Anytime we forget to add it, we get the smell again. A gallon of cheap vinegar costs 2, maybe 3 bucks at the most? Seriously, try it on a few loads of towels and you'll be happy.

One day later, it's burned again then they changed again and now it's getting burned for the third time. Three times within two years is really unacceptable. It cost me a lot almost $1000 so I really need to be compensated by a new one or I will raise and file official complaint against your company in front of the Egyptian courts.

I have read through almost every comment on here and have to agree with how dissatisfied I am and what a disappointment these machines are. Class action suit please! I have the squeaky tub and mildew/musty smell I can't get rid of. Additionally, hot water is non-existent. It seems in my machine and I can't seem to select 'Sanitize' no matter what I press. Oh, and bleach? I can't tell you how many loads of clothes have been ruined because the bleach does not fully wash out of the dispenser in one wash. It leaks into other loads afterwards.
Seriously, a class-action suit needs to be started. How is it that a company / product has so many widespread complaints and concerns with mostly nothing being done about these problems and yet are still able to market their products without any consequences? Lastly, "Sandy" who has commented on this page is obviously affiliated with LG. His advise; First, he adjusted the front feet so the machine sloped slightly back so the front gasket drains fully, then he showed me how to drain the washer by using the dials (no one explained this to me!). Turn on machine, don't touch the main dial, go to spin speed button and press it. Display should read 13 minutes, then start washer. This will completely drain any standing water! Good luck **. He also recommended to use half a cup dish washing detergent in the drum, wash on full hot cycle. Do this at your own discretion, I am trying this tonight!

I have posted here before about the smell from my LG Tromm washer. I have been reading other posts regarding leaving the door open and peeling paint. I have always left the door of my washer open and, as I've posted before, still get that awful smell. We are at the point now of needing to replace the washing machine after 3 years because our clothes smell so bad. We have tried all the front-loading washing machine cleaners we can find and have used bleach in the tub clean as per the owner's manual.
One of the worst smelling items is our wonderful towels. After showering, we have to remember not to breathe deeply while drying our faces! And I just noticed the paint is peeling off the front of the machine, near one of the “seams”. It is almost like the way wet latex paint will just wipe off if. It is painted over an oil-based paint. What can we do about this? I really can't afford to buy another washing machine already.

The service person I talked to said that the printing coming off was not covered by the warranty. To me that is not the point.
In this day and age with the technology we have as a country, you should be able to buy a washer that when cleaning, the printing doesn't wipe off. The washer manual say that the outside of the machine can be cleaned with warm water and mild, non abrasive household detergent. Immediately wipe off any spills with a soft, damp cloth. I guess LG doesn't care about the consumer. I'm so disappointed in their non-response to problems people are having with such expensive washers and dryers. I purchased the LG HE top loader (machine # WT 4801CW) in December 2011. It has never effectively cleaned a single load of clothes. Shirts come out of the wash still smelling of perfume/cologne; sheets come out with large dry spots where they never got wet. Washing in cold or hot water does not matter, nor does setting the washer on the highest level for soil and the extra high level of spin speed. I do not use a clothes dryer, so I use fabric softener but the clothes are so wrinkled even if I remove them the instant the cycle stops that every single item would need to be ironed. Even when washing very small loads (one pair jeans, 2 shirts, 2 pairs socks) there are dry spots on the clothes until the final rinse cycle, so they are obviously not getting clean.
This machine will not remove any stain at all, no matter how minor. It also takes over 60 minutes to wash one load and has increased the number of loads I do a week despite having a much larger capacity than my previous washer. Luckily, when we bought it at Best Buy, they provided a 30-day return policy. My new washer will arrive this weekend. I'm back to a front load Frigidaire, which is what I had before. I never had a single complaint about that machine. It lasted 18 years and never had a single service call, cleaned every single thing we ever put in it, and was very inexpensive to operate as well as having a much more reasonable price than anything else we saw on the market.

I purchased LG washing machine model #WT5101HW on 6-26-2011. In December, I realized that the "hot"/"cold" cycle was not hot. The water was really not even warm. I called LG and after speaking to numerous people, they agreed to send a tech out. On December 20, 2011, the tech arrived only to inform me that it was an ongoing problem and there was nothing he could do. It was the way LG designed the machine. On the hot cycle, it adds both hot and cold water so that is why it is not hot. I was furious!
I called LG and they informed me that if I wanted to wash my clothes in hot water to use the sanitary cycle which is a 3 hour cycle or the bright whites cycle. My washing machine has an internal heater that is supposed to heat the water to 122 degrees on bright whites and 158 on sanitary. On my bright whites, it is only 90 degrees and not sure what it is on sanitary. LG is advertising that they have a hot cycle when in fact it is not hot and it makes no sense to add cold water to perfectly good hot water and then heat it back up! How is this energy efficient?
I called LG again today and now I am being informed that the heater only works on sanitary and if I want hotter water on my cycles, I need to turn up my hot water heater. On page 7 on the instruction manual, it clearly says, "the heater increases water temperature and provides better cleaning for sanitary and bright whites.” So, even LG is admitting hotter water cleans better! This machine is a complete joke. LG should not be able to advertise that this machine has a hot cycle when it fact it does not.

Every other load, this HE top load machine (wt5001cw) goes off balance. At the end of the spin cycle, the machine repeats the rinse/spin cycle over and over until it goes off balance or I manually stop it. This causes the clothes to never spin fully dry. I've contacted LG and they won't do anything, because I can't find the original bill of sale from Sears - although Sears did give me a printout showing a summary of my purchase from 10/3/2010 which includes the model number of the LG Washer, but not the purchase price.
According to a repair estimate, the parts and labor for just a new control panel will be over $400, which still does not solve the balance problem. The machine is only 14 months old and LG doesn't care. By the way, I've been using a family member's new Whirlpool HE top loader and its working great, washing the same clothes without ever going off balance. I only say this because LG will probably blame the balancing issue on the clothes or me.

We have had nothing but problems with our LG front loader. Any "efficiency" savings were eaten up in repairs and having to wash on super duty just to get stuff cleaned. The odor problem is the absolute worst. I just pulled out the detergent area and it was absolutely caked with black mold. It was the worst on the areas where the water is dispensed through. This means that no "solutions" of solvents would ever get to that source because it's before the detergent area entry.
We use the special detergents and they take care of he smell for only a few days. Who wants to spend all that time and money maintaining a washing machine. It is supposed to help us simplify our lives. I also had to drain it many times manually to remove the small items that get into and clog the drainage system. How does that possibly happen? That is a seriously flawed design problem. I have read many of the other complaints and they are all the same. At what point can we file a class action lawsuit against this company which has a very poor quality product?

When I bought the washer at Pacific Sales in San Dimas Ca, I purchased an extended warranty. Just recently, the washer began to leak water again. I contacted the warranty department and notified them of the problem. They sent a technician out and he deemed the washer unrepairable since it had been repaired for the same thing several times. I then contacted LG and told them that they needed to replace my washer or give me my money back. This washer is a lemon. They told me that I was out of warranty and that I had to deal with my extended warranty company. They act like they care, they tell you they care, they express their sorrow, but they won't fix the issue. They do absolutely nothing! They expressed to me that I must continually dry that area. "In the manual it tells you to keep it dry! "
Not that the design is bad, not that the dish should not leak, but that by not constantly drying that area it could rust! I asked if they ever heard of this happening and they said no. They appear randomly and we are unable to remove them.
It has been very expensive and time-consuming to run extra empty loads to try and keep the washer clean, get rid of the smell and hopefully get rid of whatever is causing the stains. The biggest expense for us has been the ruined clothes.

I found this site while researching LG FL washers. I have had an LG WM2010CW washer for years now. I went through the mold issue and solved it with common sense. I'm not disparaging anyone here with mold issues but these suggestions fixed my issue which was minor in comparison.
Clean out the filter at the bottom of the machine; then run a clean cycle with a cup of vinegar. Pour it into the dispenser for detergent, not the bleach dispenser. When the cycle is done, re-clean the filter and wipe out interior with vinegar. Get out the goop manually. Remove the dispenser drawer and wipe out the entire compartment with vinegar. Allow to air dry overnight leaving out the drawer. Replace the drawer and run a rinse to remove the vinegar. Quit using fabric softener or dryer sheets and switch to an unscented powder detergent. You need to be able to smell the machine. Use 2 tbsp. per load for moderate water, 1 if your water is soft. Adjust up or down as needed from there. Fill the softener compartment with white vinegar. Run an extra rinse on every load to work on the buildup.
If you are using scented detergent and it's still strong-smelling after the cycle, it isn't rinsing out. To monitor rinsing, add a gallon of water through dispenser drawer during rinse cycle, or more if needed, to see water. If detergent isn't rinsing out, either the oil or dirt is in your clothes. Do this for a month or so as every load of clothes will be reintroducing mold to your machine. Fabric softener is made from animal fat and will get rancid and breed mold. It also leaves fatty, greasy residue on your clothes that detergent must cut through. Detergents are alkaline so the mold in your washer needs that environment. The vinegar is a mild acid. Once your washer is back to normal and you have detergent dosage worked out, use a max of a tbsp. of softener or mix softener (50/50) with vinegar. The clean cycle on your washer is for maintenance. It isn't designed to eradicate a major problem. It took awhile for the machine to get in such bad shape and it will take time to fix it.

At times, I will find disgusting streaks of the smelly slime on clothing (especially sheets). Our clothes and towels have a permanent smell.
Our whites are yellow and if there is any staining on our clothing I know it will not come out in the wash. With my Bosch and Miele machines our whites were pristine and if there was a heavy stain that didn't fully come out in the wash. I knew that the staining would disappear next time I washed the item. My towels smell like someone urinated on them. I have had service out here and nothing is fixed. I was sold tablets to wash the drum with; did not fix the problem.
This was the biggest waste of money I ever spent. I want my old Kenmore back. There is no quality any more, the dishwasher I bought from Sears is of poor quality too. It had a leaking Tromm front loader. This ruined my 180 sq. ft. of ash hardwood flooring costing approximately $2000.00. After the floor was replaced and a pan placed under the machine, I have noticed that it fills up about once a week. This leak is coming from the dispenser tray! I noticed water and soap residue on the inside of the front panel that had also caused the door hinge to start rusting. After closer inspection of the dispenser during operation, I can see water hitting the angled section of the tray and running over the side. LG said a repair tech would have to fix this, but without a newly designed part, it will just do the same thing again. This is not caused by too much soap as some might suggest because it does this with or without adding soap! The only solution I see is to buy another brand after spending over $1000.00 a year for a poorly designed product.

Luckily, Best Buy exchanged it for a new one without hesitation and it was almost as if they had already been down this path before with several customers. Fast forward less than five years later and the same thing has happened. We just spent $640 on repairs including a new water pump, a new water valve and a new memory board for this hunk of junk of a washer. The LG steam washer I purchased about 3 years ago has been problematic and I would strongly advise against purchasing one of these units. The malodorous tub in this front loader is likely secondary to the water retention within the gasket Despite leaving the door open to dry, something unnecessary in any top loader, the musty black mildew persists! Obviously an engineering design flaw, the tub cannot empty completely. Despite leveling this machine on a concrete floor with the drawer pedestal, the machine shakes and rattles and dances over the concrete floor. The machine will never stay in one place despite attempts to keep it there irrespective of load weights. This machine is a piece of junk and LG will not listen to these complaints. The constant nightmare in dealing with mold buildup in the machine has truly been astounding. We have tried everything from leveling the machine since water never gets fully drained, to scrubbing the front flap , to draining water and cleaning reservoir and bleach cycle--nothing works. This is the first and last LG product we ever buy. They put this thing on the market knowing full well of the problems with it. Thank heaven for Lestoil!
I do not use bleach, but have found what look like bleach spots on my towels. This is very disheartening as we recently remodeled our bathrooms and all my towels are new. I'm embarrassed to let guests use them because they look terrible. Now, a new problem has arisen. My "clean" laundry comes out of the washer with large gray blotches that look like they were splashed with muddy water. And if I don't take them out of the washer immediately after the cycle is finished, my laundry has a hundred small, dirt spots on them (the same size as the holes on the drum). At invitation via email from LG, I spent quite a long time writing a careful, truthful evaluation of my fancy still-under-warranty LG washer WM3875HVCA, which has had about seven or eight service visits. Both computer panels have been changed out; the water valve has been replaced; the door latch has been replaced; and still, the thing locks when I try to open the door post-cycle. Also, water continues to leak into the drawer serviced by the water valves, and the supposed anti-wrinkle option, which an LG representative told me directly on the phone is supposed to be constant for the eight hours as indicated, appears to do nothing. It is never on, whenever I check on it after a cycle.
I had written a grammatically correct, no swear words, truthful review, and picked only two starts out of five. Would anyone like to guess how LG responded? They denied allowing my review to be published on their site, supposedly claiming it did not meet their guidelines. Um, would those guidelines include singing only praises of their products (i.e.. if you give a negative review, they don't want to hear it, publish it, or know of it)?
I am completely disgusted with this situation. LG's email denying my review's acceptance told me to 'submit another review' as if anything similarly negative would receive their approval for site-publication.
As long as I don't rave about this washer, I suspect they are never going to allow anyone to see what my experience has been because then, prospective buyers would take a pause before considering a similar purchase. Indeed, the only reviews, which I read, on LG's site are all glowing about my washer. Ha.

I have an LG Tromm Washer and Dryer. I have only had it for a few years. As others have complained, the washer has a foul smell due to the mold that grows as a result of the water getting trapped in the rubber door seal (poor design/manufacturer defect). It's not like LG did not know about it. Look at all of the complaints. There is definitely negligence on their part at this point. At the very least, there should have been a label put on the machine that warns you not to use it in a small space, which is unrealistic since most laundry rooms are not large. How come this product has not been recalled due to the health hazard?
In addition now, I can't find the reason why the dryer does not make any noise (although it does turn on) and the washer won't even turn on! Maybe this is a blessing in disguise to get rid of these machines. Unfortunately, most people are being duped out of a small fortune to buy them without being fully informed of the health hazard. This may need additional legal action.

But within the 8th month, our PCB went out of order. He neither gave me a cash memo nor did he re-attend to my complaint but he answered me on phone that for a replacement PCB I would have to spend another 1800 plus service charges.

I purchased an LG washer and dryer several years ago. I absolutely hate them, but they cost a small fortune, so I am not ready to buy new ones. Here are my complaints: my clothes never get cleaned; it doesn't use enough water to get them cleaned! They always have a mildew smell. Now my detergent draw will not open. It is stuck for about a month, but it would eventually open. From all the complaints I have been reading, why has the Better Business Bureau (BBB) not gotten involved? My sister bought an LG refrigerator, and she also had multiple problems with it! I will not be buying another LG product!

We purchased the front load washer and dryer in December 2010. The pretty red ones! What a mistake! Actually, no problems with the dryer, except it doesn't seem to dry as well as it did in the beginning. I always have to add a click or two to the automatic dry time.
The washer broke this June 2011. We had Geek Squad come out, it took four weeks for them to get back to replace the drum and three other pieces that attach to the drum. Four weeks! Then it broke again six weeks later.
Same thing, we tried to get Geek Squad out again and they are so hard to work with to schedule a time. They should realize people have jobs! I called Best Buy to get help and they gave me LG's direct line. She was very helpful and friendly. But then the service tech called and his first words were, "Do you agree to pay for this service call?" and told us it was not the drum, it was a shock absorber.
He hadn't even been to the house! He just told us this by the description. He wasn't coming out until we agreed on the phone to pay for the service call. Forget it. We are going to buy a new washer tonight. It will not be an LG. Such a hassle and disappointment, $1000.00 wasted. Pretty red machine...too bad it is a piece of crap!

The LG TROMM washing machine is a horrible waste of money. LG must have put all their efforts into making a machine that 'appears' to be a high tech, environmentally friendly machine without actually testing it. The clothes stink when they come out so you have to run empty clean cycles frequently which, of course, waste water and energy (hot water cycle). The safety latch errors outweigh too much. Their customer service department (barely spoke English when I called) told me to unplug it and wait for five minutes. I will not buy another LG product and I will encourage everyone I can to do the same.

They sold me an LG Washing Machine and a dryer. But the washing machine has been nothing but trouble--it broke three times in five years. This time, it spun completely off the rim from the inside! It completely destroyed the inside of the machine and Home Depot says that they sell them, not fix them. LG won't even return our calls! The repairman says that it will be about $1,000 to fix it. Are you all crazy?

We have a 7-year old LG front load washer. An authorized repairman has been to our home three times to repair the unit. He has talked to LG tech engineers three or four times and they have sent the new parts three times to repair the unit. However, it still prompted an error message. They now tell us that it is all they can do for us. They offered us $74 for the trouble. I told them I am willing to pay for the repair cost just to fix it. They have manufactured these unit with manufacturing problems and they are not standing behind their product. If it is not repairable due to an engineering error, I should be entitled to a discounted cost for purchasing a new unit.

We purchased the LG Front Load Inverter Direct Drive Washing Machine (Model: WM2301HR) and Dryer. I paid a pretty penny for them both. After a little over a year, our washing machine and clothes smelled rotten and mildewy. My husband looked at the machine and noticed molds on the bottom and in its parts. There should be a recall on this machine. It's gross and unhealthy for a household. The dryer takes two cycles now to dry a load. Of course, it's past the one-year warranty so we are ** now. Don't buy these machines. It's a waste of money and it looks like there have been many similar complaints on these machines in the past.

LG Washer has mold and mildew inside the washer and does not come out. The machine is defective and I would like to return it for a full refund. The store should return it to the manufacturer. We all know the results of mold and mildew. It's permanently in our clothing and it has caused allergies.

I bought my LG Top Load Washer 5101 in March. Within a few days, I noticed scratches on the lid. I have no kids, no cats, nothing rough that I put on the lid. I called LG and they acted surprised that such a thing could happen. I asked for a new lid but they refused. So I returned the machine to Best Buy and got another one (I really liked how it cleaned). It's now August and even though I've been super careful and have only put a plastic laundry basket on the lid, the strip closest to the glass has scratches all over it (and no, I don't have any mice).
I was going to buy the matching dryer but now hesitate. I would love to be in contact with the woman who said her problems were cosmetic, too.

LG won't warranty a two-month old $1,100 washer that is having the same UE code and spin/rinse problems that many others are having. The difference is that, in my case, I bought it from a friend that went with a stackable set of machines. And they were saying that LG's warranty is not transferable! They will only stand behind their products if you purchase them new and have the receipt! Pretty sneaky, if you ask me. The service rep actually said, "Well, it's in the fine print!" I will never own anything made by LG again! What a rip off! I will make sure that everyone possibly know about their warranty being highly unfair! If everyone knows how bad it is, nobody in their right mind would buy this LG junk!

I purchased an LG Washer and Dryer set on March 2007. After paying over $2,300 for them and being the laughing stock by my parents for making a foolish purchase, at first I was with dealing the crazy smell from the washer, and now, the ** is leaking water. I will never purchase another product from LG again. Sometimes cute, new, and fancy isn't worth a hill of beans. My grandparents top load machine has skipped a beat in over 25 years. That's just crazy to me.

LG is offering no solution to correct a huge problem in my front load washer which is just over a year old. It smells terrible and the tub clean cycle does not work because the dispenser will not dispense the bleach.
I know several people with the same washer and the same problem. Help! They tell me I must call a repair person, but I don't think there is a "fix" for this defect and the washers should be recalled.

Is this level of service LG intends to provide? We visited LG PEL and New Allied Gujranwala, Pakistan regarding our one LG washing machine (product model: wd80150) issue, but both were saying, “We are not providing LG after sale service.” I even sent 5 emails to LG customer service on August 17, 2011, and they did issue a complaint reference number **. I received what I felt was extremely poor service, and I felt I should write and inform you. They did issue a complaint reference number **; still, they are saying that they do not have LG parts and testing equipment. I'm sure that this isn't the level of service you intend to provide. I would like to continue being a customer of LG, but I feel this type of after sale service makes it easy for your customers to simply never do business with you again. I look forward to hearing from you.

I bought an LG washer and dryer based on consumer reports/reviews, but I was sorely disappointed. Number 1 problem: Any and all clothing regardless of age, material content, or color emerges from the wash cycle looking like **. I never ever have experienced such rapid and profound deterioration of clothing and linens! It is heartbreaking to see my family's entire wardrobe worn away to the point where I am embarrassed to dress my children. These were items which looked brand new with repeated washing in my old machine and brand new high quality clothing never worn by anyone yet ever! It has extreme wash wear even with minimal HE detergent in a medium size load with extra water and slow spin speed on delicate ones.
In addition, when it arrived, it was poorly color matched so the two appliances looked awful side by side (one crisp white and one grayish white). For the first week of washing, the machine stank like chemicals and it transferred to the clothing/linens. I managed to clear that up with repeated scrubbing of the gasket and religious maintenance schedule of hot bleach washes, leaving the door and detergent drawer open at all times when not in use. It was way too much work and heartbreak, especially considering the positive recommendations it gets from consumer sites and the price to buy it!

LG front-load Tromm washer is the biggest waste of good money a home owner can spend.
In 2006, company said we were using too much laundry soap so we cut back to 1/4 of the recommended amount from 1/2--no difference. The mold continued to grow despite bleaching, drying, etc. I gave up! LG sucks. Rubber ring is stained with black mold, all it does now is hold up the in efficient dryer.
I am now using my old Kenmore top loader that is in the garage hooked up to laundry sink.

My LG washing machine stopped working after 3 months! It is not able to complete a spin cycle and does not drain, leaving mildewy water sitting at the bottom on the washer. We called for an LG repair man who arrived at our home 3 days later. He walked in and pressed a few buttons then charged me $150 before leaving and doing nothing! The machine is still under warranty, yet, whenever we try to call them to actually fix the ** thing they inform us they will be charging us more. I do not understand why LG has a warranty system going, if they are going to charge us for a problem that we have not caused. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing anything with the initials LG from now on, and will do my best to persuade others to do the same. This company's ethics are deplorable. It should be ashamed of itself.
