LG top load wt 1101cw - This machine is less than a year and a half old, and we have the same problem as most of the other people with this model. After speaking to LG customer service, they tell me the same thing that the book does and after doing the smartphone diagnosis, they will gladly send out a tech to tell me what is wrong with it. The machine will give the UE code with nothing in tub but water!!! And then say they don't have a problem......

Takes all day to do laundry. Goes off balance all the time no matter how I separate and arrange things. This summer will look for another brand.

This washer is not a true balance washer as stated. It will pause with the UE code so I can redistribute the clothes or fill with water and try to re balance on its own adding an additional 10 min to 3 hours worth of wash time every single load. It will display UE regardless of light, medium or heavy loads. It won't even allow me to do the full tub clean option without pausing with the UE. No kidding!! I have called LG in regards to this matter and they state that the washer must not be balanced (and I assure you it is and has been checked with a level to see if I am losing my mind.) I do not understand why this washer is being sold still and not recalled. This is in regards to the LG Model WT4870CW Washer.

I have a front-load washer that has made me and my family very sick. Before I bought the front-load washer, I called LG customer service to get details on how to not have smell/mold problems in my machine. I was very diligent in cleaning it. I cleaned around the rubber area in the door, I drained the old water, cleaned the filter, cleaned inside the soap area and the took the soap dispenser out and cleaned that too, as well as running the tub clean cycle - using afresh, running it with bleach, running it with vinegar, leaving the door open, using HE soap, etc. I called LG to see what they could do because the smell was in my "clean" clothes. An LG tech came out to look at the machine regarding the smell and found that I did everything humanly possible to keep it clean. He called LG and they told him to take the tub to a car wash and spray it down (ridiculous).
The tech went further, because he knew this would do nothing, and got approval to replace some parts (the back part of the tub had been discontinued???). In cleaning the machine, I watched as black mold and bacteria came out of the hoses and it was on the back of the tub. I took this information to the corporate level and I was told immediately that it was maintenance. I was shocked as to how Tish could tell me that it was my fault immediately without talking to the tech. It was only after I told her that the tech said that it was going to come back again, that she called him. After being left on hold for 15 mins., she got back on the phone and said that she spoke to the tech, his manager, and her manager, and that they were going to review my case.
Well 1 week later I called back; Tish told me that they weren't going to do anything. She said after talking to their legal department they decided that it was a maintenance issue. They said I misused the washing machine...HUH?? I have had allergic conjunctivitis so bad that my eye doctor and my specialist have told me to go 2 hrs. away to UVA because after 2-3 years of misery and steroid eye drops, dermatologist testing, allergy testing and numerous visits to doctors, they don't know what is wrong with me.
Funny how now that the tub in my washer has been replaced and many parts steam cleaned, I don't have the "zombie" look anymore. It is still in the clothes and the sheets that we sleep in, but it has improved. Bottom line, LG corporate is programmed to blame the consumer, even if they have a defective product. They don't stand behind their name at all. BUY A SAMSUNG!!!

Have finally narrowed down the clothes washing machine that would best suit our family needs. Our choice was the LG 5680HVAS. Unfortunately, or actually luckily, my wife decided to "dry run" the washer by attempting to simulate retrieving clothes once washed. She discovered, at 5' 3", she could not reach the bottom of the tub. We then went on to investigate the Maytag designs as well as the Samsung, and GE. We did not review any others. It appears that all of the HE designs have incorporated a physically "taller" design to facilitate the deeper drum. Bottom line, if you are 5' 5" or physically shorter, don't buy one of these machines as you will be greatly inconvenienced every time you use it.

I am terribly disappointed with this machine. First of all my clothes are dull and whites are GRAY. I have followed both the company's recommendations and the store where I purchased the machine’s advice. And they are still dull/gray. My other problem is that I have to constantly readjust the clothes... this last load took 12 times pulling the wet clothes out and rearranging them. This washing machine won't even do a tub clean without the uneven light code coming on. I have called LG numerous times and can barely understand the person that I am speaking to. The repair person has come out twice and once replaced the whole motor, but this has not solved the uneven/balance problem. I'm terribly upset with the performance of this expensive machine and I don't know what to do about it. My advice is to not even think about purchasing this LG top loading washing machine.

I just bought my first LG appliance, a washing machine, WM3050C. Much to my disgust, the clothes come out too wet. I called tech services and she ran the machines through tests and concluded it was working correctly. I have only used the cold or eco warm cycle which does not allow you to change the spin cycle to higher speed. Therefore, I did a warm wash which allows the highest spin and switched from a tablet to a liquid detergent as advised by the tech, but it still took over two hours to dry a medium size wash with only one towel. I have contacted the company again and am awaiting a response. I want to get rid of this machine!

LG Washer WT5001C - This washer was recommended by Home Depot. I had no idea it was a Korean made machine. I was told it was a GE brand that had great reviews. Shame on me for not checking. Luckily I purchased the 4 year extended warranty. It is by far the WORST machine I have ever had. I have had repeated service because it is never in balance and ALWAYS take over 90 minutes to do a simple load. I have been told, I put too few items in the machine. Next service call told I put too many clothes in the machine, next service call I was told I didn't know how to load a machine. Seriously I have been washing clothes for over 35 years!
Finally a good local service company was assigned to come out and they replaced the Core control board and the Display board. NO CHANGE. Finally called again for warranty service only to find out there is a major part recall on many of the models so if you haven't checked you might want to. Of course finding someone "authorized" by LG to come out is the next joke. Their service departments are as bad as their washers. This is simply a poorly built product that should be totally recalled and no longer sold. Major retailers should be ashamed selling this to consumers. There is no doubt I will be donating this machine as soon as I get close to the expiration of the extended warranty. I would gladly participate in a class action against this company.

When you dial the control to hot or very hot on the washing machine the net result is warm water or cold water. The washer instead of delivering hot water, mixes cold water with the hot water and you get warm or cold water in any cycle. I have had the technician out twice and he said he can't do anything to make it change no matter how many parts he changes. I have it on audio recording. He said LG will not exchange the machine and I have to live with the problem. I paid $1,100 for the washer and similar amount for the dryer. I ran the LG dryer yesterday with one queen size comforter and after redrying it four times it was partially damp.

LG 5070CW washer - wash cycle temps are way low compared to info LG provided - Cold is suppose to be 66 degrees, ours runs 50 - Hot is suppose to be 120 degrees, ours runs 75. Called LG and they said it was because it was a top fill washer, and that I needed to use some of the specialized cycles to get hotter temps - basically makes half of the cycle choices not usable. The manual doesn't mention anything about this issue. LG supervisor said they are "looking into some "typos"" in the manual to help with this issue. I spent $800+ on this washer and feel that we were duped. LG doesn't seem to care at all about the errors in their manual.

Save yourself a lot of problems and do not buy this machine! I purchased a Top Loader LG washing machine from Best Buy and I'm very upset that I did. I've had nothing but problems with machine stopping because clothes are uneven. It has taken me hours to do one load. The service guy told me after four visit that nothing was wrong with the machine. I will have to put more clothes in the washer! It was a medium size load! Best Buy should have told me it will not do small/medium size loads and LG or any other company should not sell a machine that only does large loads without telling the consumer. I'm now stuck with this machine. I absolutely hate, hate this machine!

I bought my washer and dryer a few years ago. About a month, maybe less from the first use my washer would drain out all over the floor. I couldn't figure out why. I read the troubleshooting manual and found it had a drain. So now every other day I drain it in a bucket so it doesn't leak ALL over my floor. I shouldn't have to drain my washer... it shouldn't leak. A few weeks after my washer started leaking my dryer stopped drying. I did all the vent cleaning and it didn't help. I found one setting that will dry my clothes. I have to put it on cotton/towels for 1 hr to dry a small load or a large load. That is the only setting that works.
Now my dryer has been making a loud noise for months, my clothes have also been getting caught and all my tank tops straps get stretched and ripped. I just took a good look inside and the drum is not only cracked, a big piece is broken off. After reading all the trouble people have trying to get help from LG I will not bother. I am going to buy a new set NOT MADE BY LG... I can no longer deal with trying to get laundry done for a family of 5 with useless appliances.

We bought a new LG Top Load Washer and it started to leak water from the bottom. I called LG because it was under the manufacture warranty. We have had the repair people out 5x already and each time they have failed to fix the issue. I have called LG several times to explain that is has been a MONTH with no washer and that I have an immuno-compromised child that needs clean clothes. I cannot bring the clothes somewhere to do them because they could become contaminated and make my child sick. LG customer service has not been any help in resolving the issue. They continue to say that they will send the repair people out again and will not replace the machine.
If the repair people could not fix it in 5 tries and a month later, then LG needs to replace the lemon of a washer they manufactured. I have a sick child and they have no consideration for that. I called Home Depot where I bought the machine and an extended warranty, but they cannot do anything because they have to wait until the manufacturer's warranty runs out! I will never buy any LG products again!

Even my underwear doesn't come clean and they are delicate but I wash them on hot and regular wash rather than delicate! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not buy an LG washer and dryer! I purchased a high end type LG washer and dryer in Nov. 2013 and have had to have both of them repaired at least two to three times in the first year. At least during the 1 year warranty, LG did pay for the repair costs, however now that this warranty is over, I guess I am looking at spending $300.00 or more per year in repair costs to keep the units operating. LG Customer Service states that they will not extend the 1 year warranty or replace either of units. Buyers should consider other manufactures such as Kenmore, Westinghouse, etc. My past experience with Kenmore has been very good, and I am now sorry we did not buy Kenmore units. The dryer model number is: DLEX5170W and the washer is: WT5070CW.

Had nothing but problems from this machine, and with the service provided. Pump broke after 3 months, took 6 weeks to get someone over to fix it. Said they had no service in my area. Took 3 weeks to make an appointment, said computer would not accept, and to call back later. Finally talked to a service man on the phone, told him that I thought it was the pump, he said he thought so to. Shows up next day, yep it’s the pump. (Why not bring one with you)! Got to order one. Be back next week.
Pump took 2 weeks to get here. Then another week to get them out to fix it. (Somewhere in the process. I went out and bought a cheaper washer, just to please the wife). The old pump had a straight pin in it, shut it down. Ok, now, after having the washer for over a year, the washer will never just wash the cloths, it stops with a UE error about every time. Took the wife 8 hrs to wash 1 load the other day. Got my service man on the way to try to fix this problem. Let you know how it turns out.

Just move along, people, move along. Nothing to look at here... keep on moving, over to the other part of the appliance department, the area that has anything BUT LG. You have worked hard for your money, don't waste it on LG's products that offer a huge warranty on the motor, but rust out in under a year. Sure, they're cute, they sing to you, they are curvy where your last washer/dryer was boxy... don't be deceived.
In under a year this washer has gone from being the superstar of the house, to a tired shadow of its former self. The bleach dispenser rusted almost immediately and now, the appliance can only be used to wash dark clothes, ones that the rust stains will not show upon. That's real nice, an $1,100 machine that can only do 1/3 of my wash. Maybe when I replace it - which will be very soon - the motor with its warranty can be re-purposed to drive a pottery wheel. Ultimately, it was designed for it - making everything it touches dirty instead of clean. Skip this washer, the dryer too. Go with Costco. At least there is some semblance of customer satisfaction there AND you needn't speak Tagalog to get it.

Bought a LG top load washer in 2013 and I hate it. It's a constant battle with the machine flashing messages and being unbalanced and constantly refilling with water and not wanting to spin. Totally wastes tons of water which we have to pay for living with a cistern and ironically I bought it because it was supposed to use less water, what a joke. I have never had to stand and watch a washing machine until I bought this evil machine. Oh why do I have to watch it so it doesn't waste all our water when it starts flashing the unbalanced code so then I have to stop it and try to move the wet clothes around so the stupid thing will continue on. I wouldn't wish this machine on anyone even if they were my enemy, it's horrible. I'm going back to a top loading Kenmore with a normal agitator that actually cleans the clothes. The only positive is that I bought the LG dryer at the same time and I've actually had no problems with that.

Model WD-10165FU - I am a South African customer and we have a 9 year old LG Front Loader washing machine (in excellent condition) which has been giving trouble for some time. The problem has been intermittent completion of wash/rinse/spin cycle. I had to resort to taking back cover off and manually coaxing the pulley/V belt to turn the drum. At times during the wash cycle the water would drain out but no amount of 'coaxing' would induce the machine to spin.
Today I called out an L.G. Electronics technician who, after checking the brushes in the motor, told me that the problem lay with the P.C. board but then informed me that P.C. boards for this model had been discontinued and there was no other P.C. board which would work. And then the 'coup de grace' - he said I would have to buy a new washing machine. Is there any reason for me to feel totally dissatisfied with L.G. products! I feel that L.G. Electronics have erred badly by not ensuring that such an important part is readily available. I now have to discard an otherwise perfectly working washing machine and outlay big money for a replacement, which most certainly will not be another L.G.!

I went (5) weeks waiting for one of the 6 parts to come in and every time I would call the repair place was being blamed.
It finally slipped out that the part was held up. I was told not to call back until I have been without a washer for a month and then they would replace it. I would be responsible for paying delivery, having it installed and the price difference since it has depreciated. Well the part arrive 2 days prior to the one month period. The front panel was replaced, put in my first load, washed it, second load the signal came on that the front panel was not working. I am in the same place I started a month ago. LG WT4670CW Clothes Washer - This machine is alleged to be self balancing. If it fails to spin in out of balance, it refills the tub, churns a bit and tries again. It may do this several times and not succeed. At which point it leaves it up to the user to shuffle clothes or remove clothes to continue. It is likely to fail again and go through additional cycles attempting to balance. This uses immense amounts of water and time. If it fails completely it may leave the tub full of water with no manual way of emptying it to start over. This machine is supposed to allow the washing of 10 pair of jeans or your bed spread or whatever. Good luck. This particular model is quite poorly designed. At something over $500 this item is a one year throwaway. We replaced an old front loading Gibson with this that was ten times the machine this is. We paid $100 bucks for it at a yard sale. The cast aluminum 'spider' connecting the motor to the stainless steel tub in LG front load washers disintegrates due to electrolytic action in a moist and warm environment, necessitating a repair that costs almost as much as a new machine. The part only has a one-year warranty. LG knows about this design flaw, but still persists fabricating machines with it. They would do well to have a recall on all the machines with this design flaw. Check out the image of my defective LG spider below. I ended up spending around 8 hours dismantling the whole machine and installing a new [doomed to fail] spider. I am lucky to have these skills, but most people don't. Other than the spider connector, the machine has been fine.

I bought one of your top loading washing machines a little over 3 years ago. Why I haven't complained before? I have had repair on it a couple of times, never resolved the fact it didn't cleaned my clothes. I have learned to manipulate the machine to hopefully have better results. For example, use the bulky bedding cycle to get enough water to even cover the clothes, stop the washer when it has water in it and start a new cycle. I SOAK EVERYTHING I WASH. Still it is the worst washer I have ever had. After doing some research and speaking with those that repair these washers it is the same.... they do not clean your clothes. I find it unconscionable your company can continue selling these inferior products!
I had a Kenmore top loader for 24 years, at the point they never made a part again I had to replace it. I so wish I would have found another top loader with agitator, or chosen a front loader. This belongs in a junk yard! I have problems with its balance system when rinsing and have had it take 2+ hours to get a load done!!!!! So much for saving water, energy and convenience! What will you do to resolve this problem? I purchased it at Home Depot 11/20/2011. I have the extended warranty plan. I do have a copy of the receipt as well. I have pictures of items that have been washed with still dirt on them and debris on them. I will wait for your response. Thank You!

After 2.5 months the valves and baskets and other parts (a solenoid that shuts the water off) required replacement. Even with the additional warranty we still owed 350.00 each time. Our washer required authorized repair parts and authorized service people so we had to wait weeks for the appointment, weeks for the parts to be ordered then weeks for a follow up appointment. We called LG Customer Service and were told in so many words---too bad but it is your problem.
We have been Honda car owners for 30 years and cannot say enough good about their customer service and working WITH us when any problems occurred. As a result, we have told many others to buy Honda and they will NEVER be disappointed. We were just told by a repairman that the control panel is bad and needs to be replaced to the tune of $234.00. This on a washer that is now about 15 months old. Quality control must not be existent at LG. In this case, we WILL tell all those we know NEVER to buy a LG product of any sort.

This is strictly a review. I purchased this washer (LG Washer WT110CW) as to the high standard that Consumer Reports gave it. I hate it. Your standard wash cycle is 57 minutes. There is a load for bulky, whites, etc. but some have a cycle up to 113 minutes. They do have a quick load of 35 minutes, but that's the least. Then it spins to the point of almost drying and your clothes by then are so wrinkled, that the dryer will not take them out and now I have to iron these items. It was over $600 with tax, so I just can't go buy another one. Way too much computerized options that take forever. Noticed rust around dispenser drawer and filter door. There has been no misuse or spillage, this seems to be happening due to over sloshing as dispenser is emptying during wash cycle. Also we saw on other reviews where this is happening to other washer brands as well and I would agree with one service man’s opinion that cutting corners on paint seems to be the problem as the paint is extremely thin on this machine. This is clearly obvious as the area where the problem occurred had to be sanded in order to stop the rust from running down the face of the machine and spreading rust all over my floor.
I paid a huge amount of money for this machine and the matching dryer and pedestals when we remodeled our home, I wanted high-end look for the resale of our home. We have sold our home and personally I will not buy a new set for the home we are building even though I loved the performance of the machines, too bad they ruined their wonderful products by cutting corners on a simple thing like paint. I have changed detergents, added less or more, used large loads and small ones, and nothing helps. I have to wash the load a second and sometimes third time without detergent to get it clean. Another problem is that if I wash anything with my darks that is even slightly lighter than black or brown, the dark dye is transferred to the clothes and ruins them. I have done the same thing for years with other machines without problems, but this one for some reason causes the dyes to transfer. I think both problems are caused by too little water being used. Left one day with washer running, when we returned it had stopped with error code, washer had not drained. Looked at error code which said that hose was possibly crimped. Pulled washer away from wall and insured that they was nothing wrong. Called LG and girl had me do the over the phone diagnostics. Bottom line, she said that it needed service and they would schedule in 3-5 business days.
Only call we received from them was a company name & phone # left on answering machine, with no further information. Sent a email asking what the hell is this, you are supposed to be scheduling the service, not me. Couple of days later this service company called and left messages on the answering machine, wanted us to call them to schedule a service appointment. I called on Friday afternoon, and they would have a service tech our way on Wed. I inquired what if it needs parts will they be able to repair by Fri. reply: no way as they would have to order parts. I inquired if they provide service after 4:30 pm or on weekends as we were both returning to work next week. She says no; in other words they wanted us to take time off from work to repair a product under warranty. I told her to forget it I would recall LG, which I did and explained to the girl that they needed to find a service company that can accommodate our work scheduled, she said that she would call back for scheduled service in 3-5 business days.
Last we have heard from them and Home Depot says we just sold you the washer you, LG delivered it and any issues you have you have to take up with LG. WRONG answer, Bottom line you have three choices: 1) Insure that we receive repair on the existing washer , 2) Come get the washer as you haven't been completely paid for it yet and refund what you have been paid, 3) give us a new replacement or once again you don't get the balance. All 3 scenarios is that it is still under warranty and you were paid the money not LG. I contacted LG and they said not to worry that it would be covered as a lifetime coverage. Great! Next problem I bought this off of co-worker and his partner that they had it for about a year prior but was going into a home foreclosure and sold it to me. So as I am speaking with the LG Rep on the phone, she takes my info and then says "okay I have everything I need", now we just need your tech to call in the repair call so it can be further processed. I explained the whole story as I did not have receipt and that it was never called in as I was the owner. She said that's okay, not to worry, that wouldn't be an issue. My friend calls in the problem to them, they tell him okay; it's covered but all they need is a proof of purchase.
Not so easy, the co-worker's partner had passed a year ago and there was no remembering what CC was used to purchase or what phone number so Home depot has no way to track it. Needless to say months later, still no washer and now since I am on a fix budget as a single mom, I now have to use a laundry mat to do our laundry, very hard after many years. It's the freaking drum that is cover and I can show them exactly which store the Serial Numbered Washer was purchased from but that is not good enough after one rep said it wasn't a problem. I have told my friends and family, not to waste their time with LG Products as they too will run into POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Nothing but a run around and ** just to get out of the lifetime coverage. The BAD - no matter whether you wash one thing or a giant load, it will wash and wash and wash because the load becomes uneven and it is trying to even out the load. After 20 years and replacing many parts on my trustworthy but not flawless Maytag washer and dryer, I finally convinced my wife we should invest in a new set. Unfortunately, we didn't do our homework... she liked the LG set she saw at Home Depot, and away we went. I have to say, I've made more expensive mistakes in my life, but not many.
There's not much to add that hasn't already been said here, regarding the uneven load syndrome and the fact that it takes all day and probably hundreds of gallons of water to finish what should be a 50 minute load on a "water saving" machine. Unlike others on this or other forums, I have NOT called LG. Based on all the horror stories I read on every repair site online, it seems pointless to even try. There seems to be NO recognition by LG at the vast extent of this problem with their products, and from what I see, no recourse by consumers. Of those who have gotten repair work done, many incurred significant expense for something that never should have happened in the first place. And for many, the repair (software, new circuit board, etc) was ineffective. The sad part is, I see no responsibility shared by any of the major retailers who sell these products.
I'm with everyone else - I will never purchase another LG product as long as I live, and I'm really stuck with a decision of throwing away a washer that is under a year old, or living with this stupid thing until it craps out. It's apparent I will NEVER get my "money's worth" out of it, so it seems pointless to hang onto it any longer really. The best we can do, I feel, is write to the retailers from whom we purchased these LG products and tell them about the issues, and let them know we're not happy with their continued decision to sell LG products.

We started cleaning the front gasket and kept using the clean drum feature with bleach and still kept building up MOLD. Now I see that other people are having the same problem as me. Thanks LG. Will NEVER buy a LG product again.

Bought LG washer and had nothing but trouble from the minute this washer arrived. The motor and tub fell out at our front door and had to get another machine. Then when the new machine got to our house - had ongoing water leaks and still is leaking water. LG will not fix it or repair it because they say it's out of warranty now even though it was just fixed. Apparently there is no warranty on work performed by a service center? Shame on LG for not taking care of its customers, will be buying a different brand for sure.

About 5 years ago I spent thousands on an LG double door fridge/freezer and the washer/dryer combo. The fridge motor died 2 xmases ago and as they were shut, we lost $4-500 worth of food. Then there was an issue with the washer within 2 yrs., can't remember exactly what. Had that fixed. A few days ago I noticed one of the internal arms inside the washer had come off. I thought it was just a case of hubby screwing it back in. NO. The whole machine has to be taken apart to fix. The other arms are loose too. It's cheaper for us to buy a new washing machine. It's 5 yrs old. I'm beyond furious. Never buy LG. It's JUNK.

My washer quit before completing its cycle. When I opened it to unload my laundry, it was still full of water. I closed the door and pressed the rinse/spin button. But it stopped again before completion, and the same thing again. This time I couldn't even open the door. Nothing seemed to work. Finally, after pushing buttons, it went completely through the rinse/spin cycle. I don't want to call La Mesa Appliance who is a factory approved service for LG, because I called them some months ago when the softener cup held water after the washer had completed its cycle. The repairman said this was normal, but it hadn't done this before, so I don't believe that. Meanwhile, I pull the drawer out and empty it after each wash. I'm unsure whom to call for repairs.

Bought the washer and dryer in August 2011 (washer is WaveForce top loader). At first I loved it! I have 2 small kids and a dog so I wash a load daily at least. Got the software update notice so had that done. Noticed I would get the uE or UE code fairly often after that. Then one day no matter what setting I used it would get to the rinse cycle and never put water in it, wouldn't dispense my fabric softener, and just flash 22 min and then after a while stop and give me the UE code. So then I have to stop the unit, choose rinse/spin and then the fabric softener will be dispensed. Then when that is done, my clothes are still way too wet, so I have to choose spin only to try to get more water out. Sometimes I run it a few times and it's still too wet. Called LG several times, downloaded the app to figure out what was wrong. Couldn't figure it out.
Finally had LG repair place come to figure out what's wrong. $50 later I was told I need a new main board. So today 12-12-14 I had the repair guy out and he replaced the board. He ran his test washes (with an empty washer mind you) and it seemed fine. He left and I needed to wash what I had let pile up some because I knew it would be fixed...first load a light blanket. Washed it a hundred times before. Washer gave me same error codes at the same time. I called the company and was told service guy is out still. I called the cell phone of the service guy because he called when he arrived and left 2 vm's and no reply back.
Called LG to complain and am so tired of some idiot overseas talking in circles from a manual!!! So it was $190 today and it's been almost 5 hours since they left and I just started a smaller load #3. I have 10 people that will be here over holiday and this is what I have to worry about! Towels and clothes starting to have a weird smell. They aren't getting clean or spun out enough. And when I can't spin enough water it makes my dryer work harder. That's next I bet. Worst experience with LG. Wish I would've seen this before. I always assumed LG was good. Never, ever, ever again!! Buyer beware!

WM2050CW - We purchased this machine in 2010 and it seemed the answer to all our prayers. It worked great, cleaned well and the clothes were almost dry when they were done - very little time in the dryer to get them done. The machine wasn't cheap but it would save energy and use less water and of course cut down on dryer time. Then this year problems arose and it was out of warranty. No problem, I thought, just call a repairman and all will be good. WRONG. Found out most will not work on the Korean made LG's. The parts are hard to get and expensive and the service from LG itself is horrible. This coming from the tech that we finally found to come out and work on it.
"Great" we thought, "get it fixed and back to washing." WRONG again. Pump was shot and the supports on the center drum were beginning to go. "Okay how much to fix?" We asked. $400 for the pump which could take up to two weeks to even get and up to a $1000 to replace the supports. OUCH!!!! Needless to say repairs were not done. Called several repair businesses to get a recommendation for a replacement. All came up with the same answer...... DON'T buy another front loader. Reason: not built to last, parts are expensive, and some brands like LG nobody will work on. So we went back to the good old top loader and it is a Speed Queen and it has a 3 year warranty and according to all the repair people we talked to it is one of the most dependable out there. The best part it is made here in the good ole USA..... If you think front loaders are great look them up on youtube and see what happens when the supports go............ SCARY.

I started being extremely careful in the way I load it and I would only receive the error occasionally (can't wash a mixed of heavy and light weight items-really? My husband washed three loads of laundry this past weekend and he also received the ue error. He said it is a piece of junk! It was a buck but what the heck, it's a new dryer everything should work right. LG says the bulb isn't covered by warranty and that I can "purchase" it from them. WHAT? A brand new Washer Dryer for $1800 has a $1 busted bulb which they claims isn't covered under warranty. I ask why not and the answer I get is that the bulb is a "consumable". A consumable, like a detergent or lint paper?
To get to this bulb I have to unhinge the door, unscrew the cover inside the dryer and then replace. I thought consumables are something you use all the time, not have to open a screw and unhinge stuff to get to. So essentially they expect bulbs (and I wonder what else? belts? heating element? motor?) to keep failing in their dryer and they get away by saying it's a consumable. LG has the WORST customer service ever and NEVER believe their warranty. BTW it took me 8 tries to get someone to "Review" the case that's 2 hours of effort to get someone to review an "active" warranty. Would you ever want to spend $1800 and be told the warranty is useless?

My wife had put on a fairly average load of laundry into our LG Washer (approx 3.5 years old) on Saturday, November 22, 2014. My wife and I had to drop off our special-needs son at his group home, and we had to run to the grocery store. My other son had errands, so he too had left the house. Upon returning from his errands (approx. one hour after we had left), my son tried to enter the laundry room via the garage entrance. He was unable to get past the door opening, as the washing machine was found in the middle of the walkway of the laundry room, water covered the floor, and holes were present in two adjacent walls.
After entering the house through the front door, my son only made it to the middle of the hallway before he noticed the carpet was soaking wet. He proceeded to find the hall bathroom as well as entryway and closets of the bedrooms to be soaked with water with some rooms worse than others. The washing machine at roughly 90 degrees off from where it should be. The sides and back of the washer were pushed out and plastic washing machine parts were strewn across the laundry room floor and hallway (up to almost 12 ft. away at entrance to master bedroom). Whatever occurred, it had to have been a violent shaking with an explosion of parts as it produced holes in walls, denting of the drier, and water to flood multiple rooms.
My concern is this could have occurred while we were present in the home and near the laundry room. This is particularly concerning as, prior to leaving, my special-needs son had had spent the night with us, and he was previously in the bedrooms and hallway adjacent the laundry room while the machine was running. This should be a concern for anyone who owns an LG washer or any other washing machine that is capable of such destruction.
At this point, the damage to the house and appliances has been approximated to at least $6,000. It is possible the number will increase, should the carpet have to be replaced in multiple rooms. The washing machine has been without any known mechanical issues, since we purchased it from Sears (approx 3.5 years ago). This is the first time we have had any incident with the machine, let alone something of such significance.

After about a year, small spots of rust around the bleach dispenser (don't use bleach), now that rust has progressed and it is also rusting around the bottom lip of the tub by the soap dispenser. We had purchased a LG washing machine from Best Buy less than a year ago and have had constant problems with it since. Soon after we installed it in our new house we had it leak water throughout the night from the front of the washing machine. After contacting LG about it they did a test on it (over the phone, as it was a smart washing) and said it was OK to use. Against the better judgement of my wife she went ahead and used it and the same thing happened again, but this time worse. The water created about $8600.00 in damages, had floor damage, water in the vents that collapsed the AC vent under the house, and mold starting to appear on our walls. Fortunately we had our own house insurance which covered out expense, and we had to pay a small $250.00 deductible. After explaining the situation to LG, they asked us to send them a damage report and all the information which we did, they refused to replace the washing machine and instead sent a technician out to fix it, who came out four separate times to fix it. He said that there was a fault with the machine and we were afraid that it would happen again. LG also told us that because the washing machine was a display model that we purchased it was not under warranty.
When I called through customer service to ask them if I purchased a display model from Best Buy would it be covered by warranty, they said yes (a direct contradiction to what was told.) I asked them for a transcript to verify that which they sent. After 4 attempts to fix the problem they still wouldn't change the machine or give us our money back, and we ended up having to pay out of our pocket for the technician to come out. To this day we still have a faulty washing machine. After calling them several times to try and get my deductible back from LG's own insurance company they kept telling me that they would call me in two days, and never did. This happened three separate occasions and it has been about 6 months since the accident happened, and they have been in possession of all the documentation for around 3-4 months and have done nothing about it. We are very disappointed in their service and do not expect them to do anything about our situation. This is the first time I've complained online to any company, but I feel that other consumers need to know.

My husband purchased this set less than 5 years ago. Our clothes smell horrible, like mold and mildew. We have tried the tub clean cycle on the washing machine, have bought products designed to clean the washer, and we leave the door and detergent drawer wide open when not in use to try to keep mold from growing. Absolutely nothing works! I contacted LG customer support and they said I had to get someone to service it. Why should I pay someone to do what I have already tried? There is nothing they can do that we haven't already attempted. Like others have noted, the thing also will not stay level. My washer is on a top floor and it sounds like an earthquake when the spin cycle is going.
The dryer is no better. The clothes are rarely even close to dry when it stops and I have to continuously keep running it for multiple cycles to get them to dry. I should have just kept my top loading Maytag instead of wasting a lot of money on this piece of junk. I never had to buy products to clean out mold and mildew from the top loading Maytag, much less pay someone to service it.

I bought a LG washer model number WT507OCW from Lowe's Jan 2014. A few days ago I tried to use it, pushed the power button, made a clicking noise and shut down. I called Lowe's. They would not do anything so I called LG because the washer is still under warranty. After about an hour they set me up with a company in my area to fix it and told me to call them. I called and they refused to come out and repair the washer. I called LG back and told them what happened. LG said they will call me back within 3 days.
On the 4th day without a call back, I called LG again. They tried to set me up with the same people who have already refused to repair the washer. When I told them that they again told me I would be called back in 3 days, I told them that was not acceptable and to replace the washer. LG has refused to honor the warranty. I ended up calling a repair service and paying for the repairs myself and LG refusing to reimburse me for the repairs. DO NOT BUY LG.

Had told me no part order was placed, the repair guy gave me invoice numbers for the parts order. The countless phone call to LG were a joke. Last one they tried tell me the the repair was cancelled, right after the repair company left my house. Tried the dryer and call them to tell them it still was not working. Asking for a supervisor and being disconnected twice, he told me the service provider was a third party. LG was the one's who set up the repair in the first place. I ruined over $400.00 worth of clothing, because LG told me to use time dry. Was not a good idea! I asked for a replacement and LG refused to condemn the dryer. I purchased an LG washer/dryer pair from Lowe's in Glendale, AZ the week before Labor Day, 2014. Install occurred about 10 days later, because the item wasn't in stock. Washer was front loader, Dryer is gas. Dryer is fine. Washer (Model WM3570H*A) began leaking within 4 days - first a little, then a lot. Called Lowe'; they sent out a technician to "observe" the unit in cycle. Didn't find a leak. Next day, starts leaking again. Call Lowes and demand a replacement. To their credit, they send a Maytag "loaner" unit out while they take the LG back to figure out what is going wrong.
I had the loaner for about 6 weeks - apparently they had to mine the ore to make the steel to make the machine. My replacement unit arrived yesterday, 10/22/2014, nearly 2 MONTHS after the original purchase. Washing load number 3 following "new" install, the floor is covered with about a quart of water. No leak from the front - it is coming from under the body of the washer somewhere. So tomorrow, I will call them to take the machines back, refund my money, and go elsewhere to purchase a reliable washer/dryer pair. The rating sites online have this all wrong - LG sucks!!!

I have three pets and we need to wash large comforters and blankets often; the washing machine did a great job and was easy to use. Then a freak accident occurred within just a couple of months of owning the machine. The washing machine pulled a sheet into the drain at the bottom of the tub and I had to call a technician. Since then, the machine has been operating well until all of a sudden, it stopped two weeks ago and gave me an error message 'PE'. That means the water sensors aren't working. I was leaving town and asked my adult daughter to please call and arrange a service call but she said she called the customer service number multiple times and wasn't able to get an appointment set.
I called when I returned home and was told that 1) LG couldn't get in touch with four different companies that service their appliances, 2) there are no LG technicians available to help me, 3) that I'd have to wait 3-5 days for someone to call me back. I called again today - same story. I told the operator that the wait time for a service call is unacceptable, especially since now we're moving in to our third week without a washing machine. I would NOT purchase this machine again. I'm sure there are other options out there that clean as well as this one does and are more reliable.

Here is what I did about my problem. I went to Home Depot and bought what is called a Mini-Rester - $10.83 - one each for hot and cold. This is a device that attaches between your water lines and the washer. It has a tube with air in it. When the water shuts off abruptly the air in the tube takes the shock and drastically reduces the water hammer. If you have high water pressure as I do you will need these. You may have to adjust the water down some through the knob on the wall for both hot and cold but eventually you can find a happy medium.

My LG front load washer scares the hell out me. From day one the machines has had what I think is a problem. When the wash cycle starts, valves in the machine turn off and on several times letting water in. The problem is when these valves close, they close instantly and this causes a severe water hammer throughout my house. It literally jars the fixtures upstairs. I had one of the lines feeding a toilet tank break and flood part of the house. I believe this was caused by this water hammer. Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing?

I bought a top loading LG washer and dryer in May 2013 washing machine model WT1101CW. In September of 2014 the washing machine wouldn't drain the water halfway through a cycle. Called LG and was told that it was out our warranty and there was nothing they could do. I said it was 3 months out of warranty and told the lady overseas to give me a supervisor. The supervisor extended my warranty after scanning my receipts to him, now this is where the problems start.
The part ordered was the drain motor, it took 2 weeks to get after calling trying to get information about the part. The part came in, the service company installed it and it did not fix the problem so a drain pump was ordered. The drain pump took another 2 weeks to get in and was installed and it still did not fix the problem. The service company has now ordered a control panel and has requested that LG overnight the part but they will not do that. I called LG customer service again, talked to another lady from overseas and was told they do not overnight parts. I asked to speak to a supervisor and told her I had been without a washing machine for going on 6 weeks now and needed this part overnighted. She stated that they do. It overnight parts and it would be 3 to 5 business days which means another 1 to 2 weeks to get the part and have it installed.
I asked to speak to her supervisor and was told they are all supervisors in that department and her direct superior does not take phone calls. I do not believe that the control panel will fix the problem and that the washer is completely fried. I am still waiting for the outcome of my washing machine debacle but have no hope that it will be fixed and work properly. The customer service given by LG is the worst that I have ever dealt with and will NEVER buy another LG product and will share my story with anyone who will listen.

I bought the WM1814CW in January of 2006 and several times it has leaked water underneath over the past 5-6 years. Not a lot of water, but in my opinion, any water leak is too much! Whenever this has happened, I check the rear drain hose and the pump filter underneath. I have never seen any evidence of leaking at the rear drain hose. A few times, the pump filter had "some" hair or lint, but never enough to completely clog the filter. I just noticed a sickening mold/scum lining within the inner part of the gray door seal. Wow, both little notches on this inner seal appeared to be clogged with scum/mold. I took a toothbrush and hydrogen peroxide and cleaned the notches (vent holes). At least, now the vent holes are clear. I got some of the mold and scum off the seal, but it is not all gone. Really LG, WTH?
Your engineers must have failed their fluid dynamics classes in college (or high school/trade school). I wish the LG folks would have told us, "the consumers", to wipe down the inner part of the seal after every wash and keep the door open for adequate ventilation. I hope that will resolve the leak issue. I checked my drain pump filter the last time it leaked and it was pretty clean. My machine does not have the self cleaning cycle, so now I will be running a quick wash load at HOT with bleach once a week. Apparently, all the major brands have this mold/mildew issue with side/front loaders due to INADEQUATE drainage and ventilation of the door seal... Score one for the top loaders!!!

I purchased a whole house full of LG appliances in October of 2011 (Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher, Stove, Microwave/hood, and refrigerator). I have had many issues with the washer. The washer worked fine initially and gradually started having issues from unbalanced loads to not spinning enough and leaving the clothes soaked requiring extra spin cycles. I purchased this particular model for the load capacity. You would think it would be able to handle what it was made for. In August of 2013 LG sent out a recall for unbalanced load issue. An Authorized repair company came out and did the software update.
Frankly the full of clothes and water with the lid locked from no power. They replaced the board (reluctantly) and we were operational until April of 2014 when the board blew again. Our first course of action was to call the authorized repair company back, but they would not talk to us over the phone and wanted to come out and charge us for a service call to service the machine as well as labor to replace the part, if in fact they felt they should warranty it. LG also no help at this point, the machine was out of warranty and not their problem. Since we knew what the problem was and were not fond of repair company anyway, we ordered the part ourselves online and put it in. This one lasted all the way to almost the end of September 2014, again blowing with the machine full of clothes.
I have now purchased a new machine (not LG) and will be sending LG copies of all the paperwork, from original purchase all the way to current purchase. I doubt they will do anything for me, the machine is clearly a piece of junk sitting in my garage. Unfortunately, this is not the only one of their appliances I have had issues with. The microwave has had just about every part in it replaced in the span of a couple months, some of the parts multiple times. This was also a big hassle to get repaired. The LG tech "fixed" it the first 2 times and then it got pushed to yet another authorized repair company, for multiple visits changing out a part at a time. It would have been cheaper for them to just give me a new one.
LG is now banned from my house. I will never purchase another one of their products, no matter what it is. I also recommend to everyone I know, to stay away from the "Large Garbage". So far they have not stood by their products. I did not purchase an extended warranty, but I have never had issues like this with any appliance I have ever purchased and they have lasted well over 3 years. Not to mention these dealers want to charge at least 1/2 of the purchase price for these extended warranties, which is ridiculous.

I purchased my washer 7/17/2014. On or about 3 weeks ago I noticed a little puddle of water on the floor. I called Lowe's, Moreno Valley, California where I purchased the machine, and told my salesperson what had happened. he stated, "Let's just bring out a new one". That sounded like a good idea since the machine was less than 2 months old. Then I was told, "We have to have a tech come out and see what the problem is, before we can do an exchange".
Ok, well the tech was scheduled for the next week. I work, so I had to arrange for someone to be at my house for the tech. (in the meantime - Lowe's did send out a loaner machine, I have to do laundry. So the tech came out, and because the machine was not hooked up, he said he couldn't do anything and Lowe's would have to have someone come and put the washer back in the laundry room. I called and spoke with my salesperson. So now they are going to send another tech out and will have their people come and hook up the washer.
The men that came out and took the loaner away and put my washer in the laundry room, managed to put a scratch on the front of my washer. The next day the tech arrives, he tells me there is a hole in the pump, and he will have to order the part. I call Lowe's, and am once again told that they will send out a loaner until my washer can be repaired, so here it is Friday 3 weeks later, no washer, and told that Lowe's will have someone come out and paint the scratch. First the manager said he would knock of 10% of what I paid for the machine. Is he crazy? I had a new machine, looks like a used one. My complaint is with both LG and Lowe's. Machine was working and stopped, quit. No power whatsoever in the middle of the load!! When your LG washing machine quits working, as it will and locks the door with water in it with your nice clothes that will smell bad if you do not get them out. Here is how you can unlock the door without any power source to the machine.
Step 1: First get soft flat kitchen spatula and use it between top of washer and front panel, on each side or corner there is a latch or tab that will allow you to get the complete top up and have access to the lid or door and also the drum.
Step 2: There should be a red string on the side of the latch underneath the door or lid, pull on string on right side of lock and push up on lid or door and this should release your lid.
Step 3 You will need a shop vac wet/dry or a sump pump to get the bad smelling water out so your house does not stink for the next week or two before the repair person shows up.
This worked for us, when we could not find any site that told you how to do this so we wanted to tell anybody that may need help. We were told it would be a week or more before repairman would be here and did not want to throw away all of our clothes to mold and stink water. Hope this helps!!

Purchased a very expensive LG washing machine. The leak had been ongoing for a couple of years and was caused by a very cheap neoprene gasket (20p to replace) behind the soap draw, this in turn leaked onto the main PCB at the bottom front left of the machine causing this board to fail with a loud bang. The reason why I am not going to buy an LG appliance again is two fold. Very well made appliance (mostly) yet a small cheap component failed after just 2 years which then lead to a major component failure with no real noticeable warning. Replacement parts are as expensive as a new cheaper machine. Customer services is diabolical I had to email the UK CEO just to get customer services to call me back and yes of course the problem was denied (despite many other cases on the internet) as a known fault. 7 years ago (nov 2007) we bought a top of the line LG front loading washer dryer pair "on sale" for $2936.40 (TROMM STEAM HM2688HWM).. Though never really happy with the cleaning performance -- especially on towels and bedding we finally compromised on using bleach and "oxy clean" on everything to increase the cleaning efficiency, always used steam, and sent everything else out. Our laundry bill is about $200 a month for a family of three. Additionally we have had to cut back on load size as it doesn't do a good job cleaning if "loaded" up to anywhere near capacity.
Like "disappointed" we also did a lot of research different brands and found LG was very highly-rated. Obviously they don't include the total life cycle reviews as the feedback on LG would be enough to scare you off ever buying one. LG has failed to take notice of and correct some serious design flaws with their washer and now "we" have a machine that cannot be fixed because the aluminum door hinges (attached with steel screws to the steel frame) are so corroded from leakage from the additive drawer that after 4 hours the service guy was unable to remove the 6 screws using hand tools, rust sprays, and impact drivers. He just left after letting us know it's "un-repairable”.
The response from LG-- THEY will send an "LG" technician -- sorry LG wouldn't provide us a contact number -- so no idea what firm -- if it's different than the licensed guys they sent last time? To re-assess the licensed LG service guy's finding -- at the cost of another $89 USD payable once again by me. After which if he is unable to remove the door hinges we will get a review from second level (see comments "disappointed" and others on successful outcome from second level -- e.g. "slim" and "None").
As an Engineer and vintage car guy, I could potentially drill out the corroded screws holding the door hinges in place and then use larger metal screws with an LG replacement hinge but that is a big job and may not succeed using OEM equipment. The root cause of the corrosion is clearly due to the gap between the additive tray housing and the front plastic cover allowing leakage from the tray to pour down on the hinges, and sheet metal causing rust, corrosion and other issues like "Mould/ Mold" and mildew in areas you can't really get in to clean or dry out. Frankly it's a poor design and has been for some time, the 2014 units have the same flaw.
The service folks I polled said the best fix would be to run a bead of silicon on the gap between tray housing and front panel.. would have been good to know 6 years ago. Actually what they said was "never" buy LG washers as they are prone to problems -- though the service manager said it keep them very busy. How LG CANNOT notice is a mystery. This problem and other design issues for LG washers have been covered on so many blogs and complaint bulletin boards. Perhaps the design team in Korea ignores English postings or is so worried about their war with Samsung that they can't be bothered about "consumers" and life cycle reliability or even simple "fixes" like the silicon in the gap. .
Be warned when measuring cleaning, these "Review labs" use much different yardsticks than the rest of us... this is power per cycle with little real world understanding of what "clean" means to consumers. When you have to wash things twice or more, triple the chemical additives, and use smaller than typical loads to get things "clean" and avoid mildewy smells in 'fresh towels' there isn't really any savings. Wonder if there is a back door arrangement with the guys (Proctor Gamble others) who make washing additives, as it certainly requires much more additives than any top loader I have had all in the name of "HE-High efficiency."
Who wants to be flooded out of their second floor laundry room by door leaks. Now I know why in Europe they always had the washer in the bathroom -- oh yeah a floor drain!! Foolishly I thought that sold in America they would have fixed some of the hereditary issues from Europe.. Not really! If you don't mind giving your clothes two washings loaded up with chemicals, having to introduce scent additives in both washer and dryer with sheets and tablets, and the inevitable quadruple maintenance and cleaning, then looks like LG front loaders are for you! Though for my mind all the savings in electricity go out the window when compared to redundant cycles, massive chemical and additive costs, and excessive maintenance.. HE seems a little more like HYPED (false) ECONOMY than high efficiency..
WE WILL SEE IF LG REPLACE THE MACHINE AS SUGGESTED BY THE LADY FROM MANILA THAT ANSWERS THE 24 HOUR SERVICE LINE. . BUT LIKE "DISAPPOINTED" I'M NOT EXPECTING MUCH. Nor should you!

My towels are now being held hostage in the washer full of water and locked in!! This washer is a piece of crap and LG sucks! Never going to buy another LG product AGAIN!! I have emailed pictures to LG only to be told I did service my washer machine. How do you service a washer machine for rust? LG notified me to contact Home Depot for them to fix it or just buy spray paint to cover the rust. Home Depot stated it is a defect, that LG needs to repair it if not replace it due to defect product. After making numerous calls, I have come to the point neither stands by their product. This isn't a cosmetic issue. It is called junk defected product. Anyone looking to buy anything from LG don't do it. There is better out there. I purchased the LG washer/dryer stackable. I have had other front load washers with less features and smaller, this washer is a real disappointment. The clothes do not come clean and they smell like the washer. I have cleaned this washer monthly and still it smells. The cycles are long and certainly not energy efficient. I have counted LG and they try to say that is the soap. I have tried all the soaps, the problem is the same, the clothes are not clean. We are a retired couple so the clothes I am washing do not have grass stains or played football in them, and they still are not clean.
I purchased this washer February 2014 and the store or the manufacturer will not do anything. What an expensive loss. I will only by American if that is possible. Also these machines stacked are not for short people I am only 5'0" so I need a stool to turn it on and set the controls. At 61 this makes my husband nervous because I am always using the stool. LG Top Load Washing Machine WT4801CW - The main PCB board went brain dead during mid wash cycle. This machine is 2 years old and has been used infrequently (2nd home). This appears to be a very common issue. I ordered part EBR75131701 and replaced it - which has resolved the problem. Contacting LG support was of no benefit to me.

Let me say first, I always like to give anybody a chance to resolve issues and I am really patient with giving multiple chances to do so! After four years of horrible service and a machine which is unusable with heavy laundry I finally had it, I feel everybody should know! This washer is unable to spin heavy loads! Washing half a load is impossible, it cannot balance a half load! If you fill the washer up with towels and bed linens it sometimes spins, but often it does not!! It will display in the screen that the load is unbalanced. THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS TAKING THE TOTALLY WET LOAD OUT OF THE MACHINE, PUT A PART OF THE LOAD BACK IN THE MACHINE AND THEN IT CAN SPIN TWO OR THREE SMALL LOADS, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!!
The problem exists already from the beginning, it's stupid from me that I have dealt with it for so long. I am just too busy! I started to take action after the warranty was expired. So LG was "nice" and extended the warranty. But before someone came to our house I had to listen to their "UNBELIEVABLE ADVICE:" I was only supposed to put 4 towels in the washer, I was supposed to put jeans on one side and t-shirts on the other in the same load??? And then a tech told me this machine was not made for heavy loads! On top of that I was told that I should only use the towel program for towels and other programs were not made for it! But I wanted to use the hygiene program that gives hot steam as well! Later I was told that this was all not true and that the machine should be able to do it all!
They eventually decided that the drum was warped and that it needed to be replaced. So a tech came, but the poor man barely could do the work. He was sweating profusely had trouble to sit on his knees and it took him many hours. Then he noticed a screw was not working well from the new outer drum so he decided to put the new inner drum inside of the old outer drum. He convinced me the problem was solved, BUT THAT WAS NOT TRUE, THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE!!!!
Now THE PROBLEM WAS EVEN WORSE, after the repair THE MACHINE DID NOT SPIN AND DID NOT DRAIN ANYMORE!! I was beyond myself! It took forever before the next tech came, a very nice man, but he said he had no time to fix it and that another tech would come instead. Weeks went by and a totally arrogant man showed up on the wrong day, when only my husband was home. He said he was going to fix it his way and it was up to him to decide what he was going to do. The fact that a manager of LG had decided to replace the full drum this time, he totally ignored!! He "repaired" a few things and decided it was now really fixed.
Lots of email correspondence later with a manager from LG, to my utmost frustration the problem is still there!! Appointments were cancelled due to weather and scheduling problems and one tech just did not show up! I can hardly believe it but THE WASHER IS STILL NOT SPINNING WITH HEAVY LOADS AND EVEN WITH SMALLER LOADS IT BANGS AND IT MADE EVEN MY KIDS WONDER WHERE THE NOISE IS COMING FROM!! I am so frustrated and don't know what to do!! I approached another department to seek for real help but they came back to me with a few ridiculous statements, like changing my laundry detergent to 'he' what I always have done even with the much better washer I had before from kitchenaid.
I AM SEEKING FOR HELP, THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE WASHER $1199!! I have saved every e-mail correspondence I had with them. So I have proof that my story is true! I am so done with this machine and want to make sure that other people never have to go through the same issues I have! THEREFORE THIS WARNING: NEVER EVER BUY AN LG!!

WT5001CW - We are still having significant problems with our LG washer. The latest issue involves the troubled spin cycle particularly when washing items in the Towel Setting. While trying to wash just 3 bath towels along with several smaller items, our washer will become unbalanced during the spin cycle subsequently causing our machine to stop operating! After having to stop, adjust, and rearrange items, the machine will resume the spin cycle only to have the washer once again cease normal operation requiring me to repeat the process of pulling out these wet items. As I indicated previously, I believe this chronic balance problem is due to a defective LG software issue rendering our washer unsuitable for the ordinary purpose for which it was sold to us. LG WASHER WT5001CW SERIAL 006KWWZ00297 - We purchased this EXPENSIVE washer in December 2010 before my auto accident and I had a great job. We loved it while it was working properly!!!! Now 4 1/2 years later, I am disabled and my wife of 32 years left. I live on very little thru no fault of my own and now this washer has been down for 5 weeks. Approx a year ago, we started having trouble with excessive vibration thru all cycles. This machine does not have an agitator and is a top load wave force washer. We called LG and found out it was under recall.
LG sent techs out and changed out the main computer board free of charge. We noticed that the cycles got longer and we still had a vibration although it was better. We were told that it would get better over time. It did not so we just lived with it. Then 5 weeks ago my daughter came to wash clothes for me. During a rinse cycle, it sounded like the world came to an end. Upon inspection, the entire pulsator assy. came apart (bottom plate, center cap and center bolt) and hit the glass top.
After dealing with LG multiple times, finally, a tech was sent out. It was the same guy who had previously change out the computer board. He got on the phone with his company and scheduled a repair tech. A week later, he shows up wanting an upfront payment (NOT!!!!!) so he left. I called LG. Now they say there is no record of our contacting them. I have begged these folks for help. Finally I got a number of an authorized LG repair person locally. Now it seems that the main bearing has gone out and most likely for what it's gonna cost to fix this washer is over half what I paid for it - SERIOUSLY????????? The machine is 4 1/2 years old and if this is what service and longevity LG products now have, then I have bought my last one - I can go back to a brand new standard washer for what it will cost to fix this thing. I actually LOVE my LG Tromm Washer and Dryer and have had very good luck with the company. I'm responding because I've seen numerous complaints about clothes and towels smelly moldy. I too had this problem with bath towels. It's not the fault of the washer, but rather it is using too much detergent and/or not using HE detergent.
Here's what you need to do to get rid of the smell, but it will require two cycles: 1) Wash items with 1 cup of vinegar and no detergent. Add vinegar directly to load not the dispenser; and 2) Wash items again using 1 cup of baking soda and no detergent adding it to the load not dispenser. Wash items on the hottest setting possible. The moldy smell should be gone. From here on out ensure that you're using HE detergent and use the absolute bare minimum as HE detergent is highly concentrated. Any residue left on clothing or towels will act as a binding agent, hence the moldy smells. Good luck!

I just gave up and have been dealing with this washer for about 4 years now, waiting till it completely dies and I can buy a new washer. I sure do miss my old Kenmore that had a ringer in the middle. That one got my clothes clean. There is never enough water to get the clothes really clean, if and when it finishes washing which takes double time because it stops and starts over. The only setting I use is the bulky/bedding one because it uses the most water. I can never leave the house once I start a load, because it would never finish. We have also noticed horrible spots which has ruined in excess of $500 worth of clothing and linens. Our house guests think our white towels resemble cows. The recommended amounts of liquid detergent don't come close to getting the clothes clean smelling so I must assume they aren't clean. We paid a fortune for this washer. It is an LG Wave Force True Balance top load. As another consumer stated, you cannot wash a small or a very large load without the UE code showing on the display. The machine constantly tries to balance itself. To me, 1 or 2 things is a small load. I've washed 10-12 articles of clothing and I still get a UE. I go in readjust the load, press start. 10 minutes later I get UE again. It takes me 2 hours to wash a load of clothes. The repairman came out twice. We had a discussion over the "small load" issue.
So now my unfortunate solution has been to change to a slower spin speed (which often does not work either) or to wash pants, shirts, towels and under garments all together so I can come up with a load size that the machine will take. Very poor design. I will never buy an LG washer again. It was a waste of money.

I own the LG WT5101HW top load washer. I purchased 3yrs ago from Best Buy. We have a family of 5 so I hoped the extra large capacity would be a great option. Unfortunately we have benefited from this option due to it throwing it off balance and giving an UE code. We received a recall letter and had the LG repair guy change the part (I believe the circuit board) in September 2013. It's no ones fault but mine that I've waited 9mo to complain about the fact that the problems have been worse since the repair was done, but in my defense it didn't happen right away. The knob for the settings however did not get put back correctly and does not spin freely like it used to, but I tried to overlook that since it would cost me a day of work to have the repair guy come back out to fix it.
The unbalance code would occur only about 2 or 3 times a month in the past and we just thought it was overloaded or honestly unbalanced, but when we checked it the clothes were not shifted in a way that should've caused it to be out of balance in my opinion. In the last 2 months however the code goes off more often, to the point where it's every other load it seems even on a small load. The drum is very violent and causes the machine to shake around a lot. And when you move the clothes around and push the start button again even if it says only 1minute is left, it will run for an hour if you don't stop it. We have had to just turn it off and put in the dryer. Thankfully it has not ripped apart as I've seen in videos, but at this rate it seems it's any day now.
When I called LG about the on going issue, they said that a repairman could come look at it, but it would be at my expense since it's out of warranty. Doesn't matter that it is the same problem from the recall nor did it matter only 9mo have passed since the recall repair was done. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was given the same speech. I have been a huge LG fan for years after buying my first flat screen t.v. from them, but our family will never own another LG product after this and I will spread the word about LG's lack of concern involving a very expensive washing machine that last less than 3yrs. I'd rather have my old Whirlpool washer with over sprayed paint to cover the rust at this point!

After only three years this thing, like all the others reviewed here, throws up the UE (uneven) trouble code, and smells like a sweaty billy goat even with routine cleaning/preventative maintenance. Our clothes also have the same odor after being "washed" in this contraption, especially the towels.
The first recall reprogramming was done shy of a year after delivery, so we never got to see it self destruct, although now I kind of wish it had because it would have at least provided some good entertainment considering how much this pos cost!! $800 for any sort of appliance that can't make it even 3 years without repairs, and can't perform the tasks it claims to = LEMON in my book. But the worst part of it all is, the company contracted to repair it is either heavily burdened with fixing these overgrown paperweights, or horribly understaffed, because there's apparently a two-week window in between each time they can get to me to diagnose and repair, with parts having to be sent from some God-forsaken dirt stain way out somewhere!
Maybe I should feel fortunate that so far we haven't been duped into dumping more money into this HE pit, but I shouldn't be having to take off from work for bs like this; I still lose money if I don't go to work, right?! I'm firmly starting to believe that there is nothing new that's worth owning. Maybe you should too! There is no difference between tap water and cold setting if you live in any of the warmer states such as AZ. The machine does not differentiate as for LG's customer service. They are as frustrated as you are since they cannot help you and know the machines are lemons. If you are able, try to argue for a return to the seller...

I have a HE washer that has needed repairs over the years and since I bought it from Sears with the extended warranty, the repairs were covered. Finally it got the death sentence: $2300 to fix, so Sears is giving me replacement value towards a new washer. I was trying to decide between a Kenmore and an LG model. So many of you have talked about getting a Kenmore instead of any other. Thanks for helping me decide to stick with Sears' brand. Oh, and I am paying the $$ for the extended warranty on that one, too. Thanks!
