I bought my washer back in 2010 knowing I have 10 yrs warranty on the motor but got fooled by warranty sticker and come to know when my washer stop working I called LG for tech support and it was code error which clearly means motor is bad. Yes LG will honor the warranty but will charge me $302 labor... I am not stupid to pay LG to fix 6 yrs old washer where I can easily replace something for little more money and if I add few more dollars I should be able to buy latest technology washer. I warn all consumer not to be fooled by warranty because it's worthless. I am shopping for new washer and never ever will buy or let any of my friends or family member buy LG product. Their corporate supervisor was very unprofessional and rude.

Extremely unhappy is a understatement! Started rusting after a couple of years surrounding the bleach dispenser and now at just 5 years old it is continuing to rust around the entire washer to the soap dispenser. I've never seen anything like this happen ever in any washer I've previously owned. Not every cycle washes correctly! I would call it a manufacturers defect but LG does not see it that way! After this experience I will never purchase another LG product again!

I purchased the LG "Smart Drum" top-loading washing machine a few years ago. The clothes come out very wrinkled. I now put almost all my laundry in the dryer; it helps remove the severe wrinkling. I used to just hang clothes up after washing them. Now it takes more energy: my own, and the electricity. I just finished ironing a top which I have had for well over a decade, used to just remove it, nice and clean, from my beloved Kenmore front loader, and hang it up. This was the case with all my clothes. I purchased my machine at The Brick, had to leave the country for a few months, and when I returned it was too late to have the unit replaced. Can't really fault The Brick, but they should know these machines are not-so-great. I have read the other reviews on this site, and my experience is not as truly awful as many others. But I will stay well away from LG in the future, and do more homework before purchasing.

UE codes frequently have to balance the load again and again. The machine just keeps wasting water - when it attempts to balance - all the way to the top and then pumps it down the drain and wastes our limited California water. You should do your job and force them to offer a software upgrade online. The machine have the modem cell phone link and customers could upgrade this dumb wasteful software without some LG moron coming out to tell lies and you what you already know. Force them to open the source code and let someone savvy fix the software - other than LG. They should be fined for the water wasting in a drought. This is huge capacity machine that cannot balance a light load.

I purchase the LG High-Efficiency washer and Electric dryer in 2011. For the past several years the bleach dispenser has become increasingly rusted, and now it is to the point where the clothes washed when the bleach dispenser is used are coming out with rust stains. I thought it might help if I left the washer top open after each wash to allow it to dry out, but this has not helped, and the top is becoming so rusted it will soon be unusable. The dryer no longer completes a full cycle on most of the settings - it will begin and then shut down within a few minutes. I am very disappointed in this product and will not purchase another LG set again.

My LG top loader is the biggest piece of crap I've ever owned. Sometimes it takes literally all day to finish one load. Just last night it filled up 6 times after me manually balancing the clothes. There have been times I've put sopping wet clothes in my dryer because I get so sick of the endless cycles. I hate this washer and can't even sell it cause I'd feel like a dirtbag handing it over to someone else. "High efficiency" my butt. I am dissatisfied with my LG top load washer. It is only 3 yrs old and constantly giving UE and UE error code especially on special wash cycles. I had an appliance tech over and paid the $50.00 service charge and they are pointing to the computer and possibly the stator or both. I am scheduled to have an "Authorized LG Repair company next week analyze the problem. This visit will cost $75.00 and it can be applied to the total repair. This is not an isolated problem and I am sure LG is aware of it and they don't care! There is a class action lawsuit against LG for certain models with the same problem but mine is not included. What? Give me a damn break LG. Do you know that you have lost me a future customer and I am now warning others to stay away from your washers! I will let you know if I am going to get it fixed or junk it later.

Purchased LG front load washer model WM2301HW 01/03/2011. Could not get thru cycle without repeated UE error codes, drum not spinning & water leaking all over. 2015 tech replaced board control and other parts. Now I have the exact problem as before. Machine is JUNK. This weekend had to purchase a new washer because warranties much less good customer service or products to say the very least do not mean anything to LG. Out of curiosity checked reviews for LG front load washer & what do you know... Hundreds of other innocent consumers has had to put up with the same abuse from your LG company. We need to all band together and fight the unjustified ethics of LG. I've contacted an attorney; we'll see what happens. P.S... and YES the clothes & washer do stink just like LG company. To the couple of reviews who said their clothes do not smell... You had better get your "smeller" fixed!!

This washer was purchased in late 2013. Within the first year I was experiencing issues with codes like LE and UE and complete freezes of the control panel. The washer would stop in an unknown cycle at that time and basically force you to rewash the clothes. Calling LG support was no help at that time and I simply lived with it until recently when I was constantly getting unbalanced load errors uE, UE. It got to where I could not complete a cycle at all. I had to go into special mode and try to spin the clothes which was in the end impossible. I called LG several times over the years with nothing ever coming of it. Finally in late August 2016, I was forced to purchase a service contract for $275 just to get one of their certified technicians to come look at the washer.

The first tech replaced a part on the bottom of the washer that contained lots of magnets. Sorry I don't remember the part name. This seemed like it made it worst. A second technician arrived several days later and called an engineer in Alabama to diagnose the problem and they immediately decided it was in need of a software update or circuit board change. They opted for the board change because the tech told the engineer he did not have the capabilities of the software update so he would order a board. He basically told me he lied to the engineer to force them to change the board. I suppose it was to my benefit to rule out the board being bad if the software update didn't fix it. I'll never know if the software update would have fixed it. The board arrived the next day and 4 days later he replaced it and now the machine is working fine.

My problem with this is they should have suspected the board or software from the first phone call I made. Clearly there is a known issue with this machine and the software. They forced me to purchase a service contract I should not have had to purchase. I have read of many instances of the same problem with this machine. I tried and failed to get them to refund my money.

I bought the washer and dryer three years ago. Six months after the purchase the hot water stopped going into the washer so I just washed with cold. I had two techs check out this machine. One couldn't figure out what was wrong and the second told me I need a whole control panel. That was to the tune of $400.00 plus service call. Now you are wondering why I didn't get this cared for during the first six months. Well I had brain surgery and even had to learn to walk again so that washer was not my priority at that time. Guess I'll continue with cold water. Never again!!!

First LG purchase was in Nov. 2009 with a convection oven/stove and dishwasher. Bought them at hhgregg and purchased the extended warranty. Moved out of that home in May 2010 and left the appliances there as I had planned on renting out that home. The end of May (for my new place) I purchased an LG front loader washer and dryer (Home Depot with extended 5 yr warranty) because it seemed like LG was a good brand from all the reviews I had read. Got renters in the next month for my old house and they were in there about a year. We left the house empty with someone checking on it every couple days for a year and a half. We moved back in Dec. 2012. We moved out again in March of 2014 to a larger home but took the stove with us.

The dishwasher started having issues in July of 2014 for our new tenants. Our extended warranty covered it and the repairs ended up costing more than it was to buy a new one so it was completely replaced by the warranty. All in all, the dishwasher was used for about 3 of those 5 years before needing replacement. In December 2014 my dryer won't power on at all and I have to call Home Depot for the repair. They tell me it's the motherboard and it gets replaced. This ends up being about a $200+ repair covered by the warranty.

That same month, my LG oven won't heat up. The display says it's 350 but I can easily touch the racks, and food is not cooking. My stove is no longer under warranty so the expense is on me. I call a repair guy out who tells me it's one of the heating elements. $125 later everything seemed fine until 8 months later when now my washing machine won't drain and my stove has another issue. Neither are under warranty. The washing machine needs a new pump at about $200. My stove's motherboard gets replaced at about $200.

Fast forward to April 2016. Stove not heating up again. Had appliance guy out who tried telling me we don't have enough electricity coming into our house after charging me $200 for some electrical part he said was bad and it didn't solve the problem. I called electric company who checked everything and house had plenty of juice. Got part of my money back from the appliance guy since he misdiagnosed the stove and cost me more money. Husband replaced the second heating element (there's two in this particular model) and everything seemed fine until August of this year.

Washing machine is giving pump failure message again, dryer's display is not working right (can't see how many minutes left -- digital display unreadable), and the stove went out again. Stove was approx 5 years old before we started replacing part after part. Washer and dryer were 5 years old before we started having issues. I have an LG fridge and dishwasher (purchased Dec. 2014), but I think these will be my last appliance purchases from LG. 3 appliances getting replaced is ridiculous in one month. Quality is just not important anymore to these companies. I don't expect them to last forever, but 7-8 years would have been nice. Will not purchase another LG appliance.

For four years I operated my LG Top-Loading Washer, Model #WT4801CW, using only HE detergent, managing the size of loads, etc. It worked well. However, over the years the bleach dispenser clogged, a two-inch crack developed in the top of the washer's casing, and then in mid-cycle, the wash plate and cap popped off - bouncing around inside of the barrel and failing to agitate. Of course, LG offered the extended coverage (using another company, I later found). I could either spend close to $300 and receive two months of coverage or for almost double that amount, receive a full year's coverage. I elected to buy the two month's policy.

After about a week, a tech from a local repair company came out, evaluated my machine, and sent them a report, including pictures of the damage. This seemed correct and the tech was personable. However, after another week, I called to find the status of my repair. They told me that I had to call LG. Of course, after extended conversations with a number of customer service reps, I was finally passed to LG's sub-contractor who actually administers this coverage. They, based upon the report of the visiting tech, determined that I had abused my LG Top-Loading Washing Machine and they had cancelled my policy. How, I asked, did they determine that I was as fault and abusive for the wash plate and cap popping off and bouncing around in the machine in mid-cycle?

In short, nothing that I could say made any difference. They had made a partial refund of my coverage amount, and therefore the case was closed. So here I sit, fuming that there is nothing that I can do to refute this action and LG Customer Service refuses to take any action either because the coverage is with their sub-contractor. I'm out $100, now branded as a WASHING MACHINE ABUSER, and no closer to a repaired machine than before. I highly recommend that you refuse any extended coverage based upon my experience. Otherwise, "I TOLD YOU SO." Let the buyer be aware.

Well, I'm thoroughly disappointed with my Tromm washer and dryer. The latest failure was the last straw. I have now officially paid more for repairs than I paid for the appliances, and they have been banished to the garage, and hopefully I'll find a buyer, but the word must be out about LG, because I've had no takers. The washer never has cleaned well, and took forever to do that. The technician said to get a top-load domestic brand, so I went to Lowe's and purchased the largest top loader with a spindle that GE makes.

I'm through with LG, and the repairman said Samsung is no better. So, I guess you could say I'm through with Korean products. Thank you very much Korea. Isn't it hysterical that the pendulum has finally swung back towards American products being more reliable and well-built? The way it used to be when I was growing up. Here's the really ironic part. When I bought the Tromm, I sold a Kenmore Series 80 pair to a friend for $100.00. She is still using them and has never had to have a repair. I want them back! I guess the "joke" is on me, but you know what they say: "Fool me once..."

Bought my machine from Home Depot on June 14, 2013. It has never gotten clothes clean or rinsed (unless I run a second rinse) them properly. I thought it was me, my detergent, or water. Changed detergents, added baking soda, and purchased a water softener. Today I was so frustrated with the rust on the bleach dispenser and LG's response to it that I went online to check for other "rust" complaints. Lo and behold, aloof the problem were listed, including that it takes too long to wash and tangles clothes, particularly any type of pant, terribly. I suspect that's why it gets so many balance errors. Worse part now is rust all around bleach dispenser. LG tells me it's because I spill detergent and don't wipe up. You could eat out of my washer and dryer. I keep them so clean. I've seen many, many "rust" reviews. This is an issue with the product. It has nothing to do with not wiping up a spill. If there is a class action suit, I'd like to join!

LG Ultra Capacity WM2101HW Washer Garbage. I purchased this LG washer based upon the reviews of Consumer Reports - BIG MISTAKE. This washer has been loud from day 1 and started leaking about 4 months later. As others have said it unbalances and gives error codes often. I had it repaired once because it stopped draining. A technician visit and parts cost $400 -- that is when I learned that you actually have to drain it yourself. Who designs such a washer in this day and age? Now brown liquid is coming out of the back of the machine and my clothes and sheets smell like sewer after they have been through a complete cycle. I unplugged it to try to reset it and when I plugged it in again it was completely dead and the clothes were still locked inside with a lot of water. The repairman from Sears (where we bought it) said it needed a new control board and the cost of the repair would be $661. We can buy a new machine for not much more so we declined. The specifications on my LG washer state it will pump up to 96 inches high. It does not, and leaves water in the bottom of the tub. It is a LG WM3575 CW, Serial #: 602PNGX2H359, purchased on May 6 2016. It was delivered, installed on May 9 2016. The washer has not drained properly since. I emailed LG on June 2, 2016 about my complaint. I received no response. I submitted an email again on June 7th. I still did not receive a response. After several phone calls, a technician was scheduled to come out on June 17th. He took photos and determined the product was not working as designed from day one and was installed properly. His recommendation was a pedestal or add a check valve to the drain pipe.

I contacted LG everyday the following week. Each time I was told I would get a return call. After several calls, it was determined that the photos taken by the technician never made it to the office. I had to take my own photos, and email on June 30th. Now they are saying maybe the extra bend in the hose is the problem. The hose has to bend to go up and it has to bend to turn down into the drain. That is normal and is exactly what the pictures look like on the install diagrams.

On August 4th I had another technician inspect the washer, and he gave the same diagnosis as the last technician. I have an open case with BBB # **. The case opened in July, and LG has until August 12th. I called customer executive services to give LG an opportunity to provide a resolution. The representative Robert, supervisor # ** assisted me. He provided the best customer service he could. He researched the information and spoke with technicians and supervisors in order to provide a resolution to the satisfy the customer. I suggested LG provide me a pedestal to determine if that would resolve the issue. LG stated they do not manufacture pedestals, so they cannot provide one. What a failure on your part LG. I will not buy LG again!

Asked if it was purchased over a year ago and when I said yes I was pushed off to a retailer that supports their product at my own expense of course. I told her that it's sad that others are having issues with the washers and that you pawn them off once the year warranty is up. The high reviews that are online need to removed or at least state the constant issues with the machine. Spending over $1000 on a washer that doesn't perform up to par and becomes useless in 2-3 years should have some type of recall for manufacturing defects!

Needless to say not very long after we end up having an issue that the UE goes on then the machine starts to go back to 20 minutes when there was only 5 minutes left. It does this 6 times and 2 hours later still messing with it, I call for service again. Well, again we need another part.

Now a few months later, which brings us to this month July 2016 we have UE and the washer is now turning its lights on like it is going to start up without having any laundry in it and nobody being in the room. If it does successfully get a load done it will not turn the lights off. Service out again and another order for more parts. Gee, you would think LG would want to keep up good business practices and recall the washers. If a business backs its mistakes, it makes you want to purchase their brand again but if they don't then you run far away and tell anyone that will listen. My electric is sky high to begin with because it is Toledo Edison and now with the washer issues it is even worse. Nobody should have to wait 2 hours on a quick wash. I personally will not buy LG anymore and will make sure to tell people when I see them in stores shopping for washers to find another brand.

We purchased the LG washing machine and dryer from Spencers. I am dissatisfied with our salesman in that he should have made us aware that this washer is a large capacity machine with no capability to wash smaller loads. They want you to buy another machine to sit underneath the main washer. The dryer is a mess. I spent $1,000 for a dryer that doesn't sense the dryness of sheets!!! It shuts off early leaving the corners of the sheets wet. I called the technician who said that's the way it is and I should use the manual dry time and estimate how long it needs to dry completely... Really... Really... that's the way dryers operated in 1958! Don't waste your money on this piece of junk.

This is a beautiful, very large washer. Had great reviews and ratings in consumer magazines, etc. For 10 months or so it functioned well, handling large quantities of laundry, including towels and bedding. Then nearing the 1 year mark, the UE symbol, meaning it can't spin out the water from your clothing was a regular occurrence. I was told to use the "tub clean cycle". It may have helped it balance for a few uneventful loads. But it was short lived. If you like standing over the top of a washer watching to see if it will spin, etc., but seeing it add 20 or more minutes over and over, then this is the one for you. A big disappointment.

Updated on 1/23/2017: Whenever I have called LG about the frequent (Out of balance) issue they always say run the tub clean cycle, which I suppose tries to re-balance or reset without any clothes in it. It even get off balance empty!! Why does this washer get such good reviews in consumer reports, etc.

We have had the washer and dryer several years. Both units give the worse performance of any washer - dryer combo we have ever owned. The washer has three issues; one, it does not get the clothes clean; two, if you run a load with bleach you have to run an empty load to clean all of the bleach out; three, after every wash you must wipe the door ring out to prevent any odor. The dryer has two issues; one, it does not dry clothes well; two, More lint goes outside than the lint screen catches (we had representative over to look at it and he stated that this is just the way it is with the new dryers). The Customer support responses treat us like children when we get a response. Bottom line, we despise the units and do not recommend to any of our friends.

We had a service company come and look at it, and it needs software update, but when we call Customer Service that is a very expensive cost, not backed by LG. NEVER BUY AN LG WASHING MACHINE. We bought an LG washer and dryer set in November of 2010. The washing machine has had a foul odor since about a year or so after we bought it. We leave the door open, dry the gaskets, etc. It doesn't work, it still stinks! There is always water in the soap/softener dispensers and at the way back of them when I pull them out weekly to clean, they are moldy, yes, moldy dark black, slimy mold. For about a year we had been wondering why our clothes had these weird stains appearing and we pinpointed it to our washer about 6-7 months ago.

Randomly, a load of clothes will come out with either gray grease-looking spots on them or brownish spots (looks like someone threw a Pepsi in the machine). The stains will not come out of the clothes no matter what we try. I don't even know where to begin with the amount of money that has been wasted on ruined clothes in this machine. We have done the affresh washing machine cleaner, just running the tub clean cycle that is on the machine itself and just tried running the machine through regular cycles with and without any soap. Nothing works! I have gone 'round and 'round with LG customer support and also a corporate supervisor today which all they say is "try this, try that, we can get you in touch with a technician in your area" at my expense of course!

I just can't believe that the washing machine cost over $1000.00 when we purchased it and this is the thanks we get when we try to have LG help us. They don't care what we think or have to say and I brought up the point that I am one of millions of people with these problems (as they have had lawsuits over this) and I just want to come to a fair agreement for both myself and them and they just don't even care. Honestly, I felt like all they cared about was getting me off of the phone. They couldn't even so much as offer me a discount on a new washer or to pay a portion of the service on the machine to get it cleaned because they keep saying it just needs to be cleaned between the drums and that would be something a serviceman would have to complete, you wouldn't be able to do it on your own, etc.

Don't make the same mistake that we did, never buy an LG FRONT LOAD WASHER! Go online, google their reviews and the lawsuits that they've been a part of. Plus, the customer service reviews are terrible (which I have realized myself in the past two weeks when I have contacted them)! Go with a company built on service and value, not LG who has neither of these qualities!!

I bought an LG front-loading washing machine. Within 2 years, the cycle stopped repeatedly in the middle of a wash. An internal part had broken. I had to replace it at cost. The same replacement broke the next year. I replaced it at cost. That same replacement broke. Same story. I asked myself if it was part of LG's plan to make faulty parts so the consumer would have to pay every year to replace them.

After 6 years, the programming motherboard broke (don't ask me what it is called -- it manages all the settings on the machine) completely broke down. The wash stopped repeatedly during a cycle so I had to restart again and again and a 30-minute wash would take 2 hours. Many times it never finishing the final spin. LG said the replacement part would be $150.

BUT then they called back and said since the machine is 6 years old, they won't supply the part anymore. They wanted me to buy a new washing machine after 6 years! I told them I would never buy another LG product. Instead I found the part from a third party supplier, and I hope my machine will last another 10 years so I don't have to spend on a completely new machine. My advice: NEVER BUY from LG unless you plan to replace parts every year and replace your entire expensive appliance every 5-6 years. Since they stop supplying parts, you will need a new machine.

Technician calls on the afternoon prior and says he is going to come at 3p-5p because coming between 8a-12p would make all of the other customers wait due to the amount of time it will take to fix my washer. So this becomes my problem?! Then the technician gets angry with me because I called LG to see if they can reschedule and then tells me he is not coming out to fix my washer. I was nothing but professional with him, but there was no way he was coming into my house to fix my washer now.

I spent nearly 4 hours of my day dealing with LG - waiting on hold, negotiating with them, trying to get a replacement technician, etc, until I finally decided that getting a refund for $260 repair bill would be better spent on a new washer and dryer (which didn't need to be replaced). I'll give you one guess as to which brand I DIDN'T buy! I got a brand new Maytag washer and dryer for $1700, which means I'll never have to deal with LG again. I will never own another LG product. LG, if you're reading this, your customer service is the worst experience I've ever had with a customer care team. I guess it says a lot that I would rather spend $1700 than give you $260 for a repair on a product that served me well for nearly 9 years. This happens in spite of my doing everything I can to keep the tub and door clean: regularly washing the tub using the 'tub-clean' cycle with appropriate cleaners, always leaving the door and dispenser drawer open, draining and cleaning the pump filter (although this always entails water all over my floor since the drain is much too low to put an adequate container underneath to catch all the water)... It's no use! I could even live with the machine's constant struggles to be balanced enough to do a proper spin, but this dirtying of what I'm expecting to get clean is just too much. The first year I had this machine I would get a UE Code on the machine occasionally! I would readjust clothes and finally get the machine to spin. It got worse and worse over the next year up until the point I would quit washing clothes and my husband would take over where he would use his level and make sure the tub was level so the clothes would spin. My washer is in the basement so he would get missing for awhile and I knew he was waiting on the washer to spin, because if you don't wait the machine would fill up and try to rebalance its load (what is smart about that). I have called the "helpful" customer service only to be told it would cost $90 for a service tech!

My husband would get frustrated and I would take over and so it went! Today for the first time I washed 4 or 5 loads of clothes without 1 error! Actually it has gotten better over the last month. What did I do? I stopped using commercial liquid soap! I found a recipe on Pinterest. My theory is the soap gums up and throws the computer off. I hope this helps someone who felt as though they we going insane as I was. The washer keeps tripping GFI which indicates a current leakage problem, that is, a DESIGN PROBLEM. Local techs and LG keep writing this up as an electrical breaker tripping which is a problem of shorting out, or over-amping, not current leakage. GFI breakers are required by electrical code in areas where water is present. The local techs and LG want to "solve" this problem by removing the GFI, thus violating electrical code in order to make their product work. Current leakage design problems don't improve, they get worse over time, further endangering customer safety.

I will NEVER buy any LG appliance again. The top-loading HE washer I bought at HHGregg in August of 2012 (Model WT5170HV) has been nothing but a disappointment. LG customer service is terrible! They blame the owner for any problems. Apparently, quality means nothing to them. The area around the bleach dispenser rusted when it was two years old. They did replace the top but when the service tech arrived he just laughed. "I do a lot of this," he said with a smile. "Your new top will do the same thing in a year or two." Gee, what a vote of confidence.

I purchased an extended service plan and I'm glad I did. The washer controls do not work. Two new system boards are on order. The repairman told me that without the warranty it would be an expensive repair. He noticed the rust and told me I needed to call LG and get an APM# so the top can be replaced. Just waiting on the new system boards and taking my laundry to the laundromat. Now, just two years later the rust is back but now it is even worse. The washer is rusting around the bleach dispenser and the entire top of the lid opening.

Rust is falling into the wash. I phoned LG and was told that they only replace the top once. I must be getting water and bleach on the metal and that I should be wiping it every time I complete a wash. I told the customer service advisor that this was impossible since the rust was under the top. I got nowhere with them and was advised I could get it replaced at my expense. Do you want rust on your clothes? Really? Then why does use water and bleach! Is no liquid is ever supposed to touch it? LG told me the rust "is just a cosmetic issue."

After owning this washer a little over three years, it breaks! I cannot use it at all! I paid a large amount of money for this machine thinking I was buying the best "Top of the Line." What a joke! Serviceman told me after he repairs it I will be lucky to get five years; the average lifespan of this washer. The washer displays proudly on the front a "10-year warranty," but it only covers the motor. I will NEVER PURCHASE another LG product. Buyer beware LG. Do yourself a favor. Buy an inexpensive machine without all the bells and whistle. You will be much better off. The service tech offered that advice.

Our old washer keeps on breaking down, so we bought an inverter washing machine from LG for around 305USD. The features are awesome. It calculates how much water is needed based on the weight of clothes that you put in the tub. You can set what kind of wash you want it to do depending on the type of clothes you want to wash (heavy, furry, light, undies, etc). You just put your clothes, turn it on, press a few buttons and wait for it to finish.

If I could travel all 50 states and warn people about this crappy machine I would... Horrible customer service. Model WT4970CW LG WaveForce "True Balance". Just read several complaints about the LG washing machine. Bought in June 2013 from Best Buy and has consistently had an EU error on more than off. Tried balancing it with a leveler but as soon as it didn't like a load (light loads mostly), it would rattle loudly and move!!! Yes I put up with it for this long but when I went to ConsumerAffairs and saw all the complaints on this model. I called LG who promptly told me it was out of warranty and I could buy a one year warranty for $349.00 or a 60 day warranty for $224.00. After reading the continuing problems after repair, we are going to put this money into a new washer. I'm going back to Maytag. Had it for over 15 years and never a problem!!! I agree LG=lousy garbage. This appliance needs to be taken off the market!!!

I found the number for support in my area (Ottawa, ONT) and called. No one answered and I left a message. I did not get a callback so called again, same message service, same no response. After numerous calls I gave up. If a company is going to restrict trade by limiting their replacement parts they better have a good service. LG missed the boat, I will never buy a LG product again, nor should you. Fair disclosure, the washer worked fine for 8 years, it's the support network that is broken.

I purchased a new LG washer WT1201CW and dryer DLEY1201W when we moved to a new home recently. In all my 50 years washing clothes, I have never had such a poorly designed machine. The washer is so deep that I have to half hang inside the machine to reach the clothes at the bottom (I am 5'4). The machine doesn't fill with enough water to sufficiently clean the clothes and I end up with spots and streaks. The dryer also performs poorly, not fluffing the clothes and bunching them so they end up wrinkled. I am very dissatisfied and will never purchase anything from LG again.

Updated on 05/25/2016: I received a reply with only a portion of my complaint answered and the answer was ridiculous. I am posting this to warn others, don't purchase a top loading washer and matching dryer from LG. I called LG back and the woman told me that my drum and rotators was not part of the 10 year warranty and therefore I would have to pay for the labor and repairs. I explained that in my manual that LG would honor my warranty if the machine was diagnosis as a drum and rotator issue according to my warranty. I will never...I repeat, NEVER buy any LG appliance again. The top-loading HE washer I bought 2 years ago (Model WT4870C) has been nothing but a disappointment. To call it a piece of junk would be an insult to junk. And LG customer service is terrible! Don't think you will get any sympathy or help from the company. They've got your money, and that's all they care about. Apparently, quality means nothing to them. First of all, the area around the bleach dispenser rusted. Do you want rust on your clothes? Me either. That's why I called customer service. Instead of agreement that rust in a washing machine is not acceptable, I was told, "If liquid gets on the metal, it can rust." Really? Then why does it say to put liquid bleach there (in the dispenser!) if no liquid is supposed to touch it? And besides, in their opinion, the rust "is a cosmetic issue."

When I complained that rust can ruin clothes, they told me that I could send them my damaged clothes, and they would review them, and "possibly" issue some compensation FOR THE CLOTHES! Now, only 2 years into owning this washer, it breaks! I cannot use it at all! It was running when suddenly a terrible noise was heard coming from it (not the normal terrible noises it usually makes), and the tub could not stop. Natural frictional force caused it to finally come to a stop. But now it cannot spin at all. Even though the washer displays proudly on the front a "10-year warranty," that only covers the motor. And guess what: You have to pay for a technician to come out to determine whether it is the motor or not. So you are out a service charge no matter what! (Oh, and even if it is the motor, you still have to pay labor charges out of pocket.) (FYI: The photo attached shows the dispenser after I removed the plastic surround.)

Err, WHAT!? The second call we were told we were out of the service area, funny; we had asked that from Home Depot BEFORE we bought it. But after a few emails to LG they did find someone and he came out and replaced the computer. Now the machine does finish the load IF and only IF it's happy and in a good mood. Balance is really critical and it tries for a long time to rebalance it before giving up. I don't believe there is anything wrong with the washer at this point, it is just a BAD design, STAY AWAY. I've had the top loading high efficiency washer for about a year and it is truly the worst purchase I've ever made. I'm almost inclined to buy a new washer and chalk up an expensive loss for the sake of my own sanity. The washer gives a "UE" (uneven load?) error on a fairly regular basis. This stops the already very long cycle and makes me have to reset things to finish the load. Most wash cycles take over 90 minutes. Even just a spin-only cycle is 13 minutes and it will sit "weighing" the load or something stupid and useless for 5 minutes before one even starts to hear it spin. The only good thing is the large size of the tub. Overall, this washer is horrible.

Fortunately, I had purchased a Geek Squad protection plan. We went through the troubleshooting routine on the phone, to no avail, so they scheduled a repairman within 48 hours.

Prior to the visit, I hit the start button on the machine and it started up again. The repairman came to take a look and couldn't see anything wrong with the washer. It ran fine for about a month and repeated same scenario. This time, repair man replaced the control panel. Ran fine for another month and began failing mid-cycle, sporadically, will reset after one, two or three tries at unplugging and replugging machine. Tonight, I've had to reset the washer four times to get through a medium load of towels. Previously, this has happened with light and heavy loads on various cycles. I have another date with the Geek Squad.

I would give this washer zero stars if I could. I'm tired of having to climb over this washer to unplug, re-plug, tired of finding the machine hasn't finished washing, tired of having to set up dates where I can wait around for a tech to check out my washer. I'm done with LG after this. When the machine works, I've had fabric softener marks left on my dark clothes, using the 'Pure Color' cycle, requiring a second rinse. The 'Bright Whites' cycle has turned my 800 thread count Egyptian cotton, king sized sheets a dingy yellow color. There is never enough water in the machine to completely submerge any load of laundry. I wonder how clean my clothes really are. I really hate this washer.

(I'm sorry that I didn't have more dirty clothing to wash at that time. Apparently, they expected me to pull clean clothes out of my closet to balance the load!) When I operated the washer with no clothing in the machine, I realized the problem was with the washer - not my loading technique.

After my water bill TRIPLED because of the huge amount of water used to attempt to balance the loads, I requested a service call. The technician informed me that the problem was due to a KNOWN software issue and all that was needed to fix the problem was a software update. I have no issue with this. What I do have an issue with is that LG Electronics failed to form consumers of this simple fix! Apparently, LG Electronics doesn't care about consumers- they just like to sell products. This washer and dryer replaced Kenmore's that were 25 years old, and still running. Quality means a lot to me. I expect these LG's to last at least as long as my 25 year old Kenmore's since engineering and technology MUST have improved in the last 25 years. After a year, I am very happy with the LG's. Occasionally, the washer can't balance the load and I have to redistribute the washer contents. Note that the basin spins at over 1000 rpm, so a balanced load is critical. That's okay. I thought the vast number of washing options were way too many, so too the dryer. But I guess some owners will use options that I don't. The clothes load size is really big. You will need very long arms to reach the bottom of the washer to pull out all the items.

WM4270H and DLEX4070. Cleaner clothes than the horrible Maytag Neptune/dryer is done before next load in washer. Units are 4 years old. Very quiet operation. Wanted a dryer with a steam fresh option which this LG does have. Washer does not wear out clothes as previous Maytag unit. Regular repairs and quality of construction, very important to me. Unit still looks brand new after 4 years of use and not the first problem with units. I had nice shirts that were stained with grease. Previous unit did not remove those stains so used shirts for the lawn. Used the sanitary cycle on the LG washer with no change in detergents and stains were removed. I am assuming this is due to the LG heating up the water that dissolve the grease.

I have an LG front load fairly new machine and I absolutely hate it. I loved the fact it's suppose to save money as it is and helps the environment. I have had the machine 5 years now. The only thing I like is the lights during the washing procedure. I was looking for efficiency but there is nothing efficient about a heavy soiled load of clothes taking over an hour to wash. The machine does not let you soak or pre soak clothes. With muddy clothing, sometimes things need to soak. The machine smells like mildew or mold all the time. The rubber seal is disgusting to look at and clean. Not sure who came up with this brilliant machine but I think it's awful. There is barely any water on the clothing when washing. I don't like it at all and with it being 2,000 I feel like I got ripped off. My dryer is a Samsung steam or dry dryer. Never lost an article of clothing in it. The dryer works great. So far no issues.

The machine takes forever to wash. The clothes dry quick because they barely get wet. But they do spin fast. I hate the fact there is still pet hair on my uniform pants and some types of fabrics which really makes me mad. Also I cannot soak soiled clothes. The machine drains out any excess water. I am so not a fan of this machine. I am so annoyed with it. I would trade it off for an older top loading machine in a heartbeat.

LG Tromm. Well reviewed. No experience with the brand, so it was the first time. It was very expensive 11 years ago, but seems to have come down in price. Extremely satisfied with all the options, for e.g., delay wash, hand wash. The only problem was the mould around the rubber seals. I can't seem to get rid of it, even though I've tried everything suggested, both by professionals and on the internet. The capacity was large enough to wash a King duvet and clothing for a family of 5. It needed to be energy efficient because we do 3 full loads a week. It had excellent reviews. Repairs are our main concern. Although we bought extended warranties for the pair (washing machine and dryer), it doesn't cover all parts or repairs, but for most. I wish the sales associate gave us the pros and cons of these machines. We have more pros when reviewing the LG Tromm, but more information about the mould problem would have helped.

Cost was the purchase factor. I don't care for the ability on choosing cycles. I look for the material that the tub is made from. Also prefer top load over front load. I will never purchase a Maytag or Sears brand product. For me a lot depends on the amount of attention and service I get with sales rep and delivery. That's why Sears is dead to me! Top loader LG w/ stainless steel tub/ non stackable - I feel the value of my LG products are in line with the going rate. Cleans well. Don't care for the tangled and knotted clothes at the end of the cycle. Finish quality and look of the appliances all OK.

My model is an LG top loading washing machine WT4870C. I bought this brand based on a recommendation from Consumer Reports. I like the many options such as water temperature, spin speed, and the quietness of the machine when it's working. This machine also has sounds for things such as when the load is finished, and when the drum is unbalanced. Since my washer/dryer space is limited, size is the first consideration. Brand reputation is the second consideration. It can be a hassle to get a repair person at a time that is convenient. If the washer was noisy, that could be a deal breaker. This machine does well when washing heavy loads as well as light loads. Sometimes the estimated time shown on the washer isn't close enough to the actual washing time, so if you are in a hurry, wash later.

How fast they will come out and repair if it breaks down. I look for quality and price has to enter in on it. Most expensive is not always what I want. It may not have the features I want. I want and need large size that keeps working.

I purchased my wife a RED LG front loader with steam cleaning as well as many other features and a dryer with a host of features as well. Cost $1000 for the Washer and $1500 for the dryer. The main reason for buying them was my wife wanted the front loaders and the color. I like the color best and personally they work well for standard cleaning. BUT the features have not stood up - for example the dryers only dries thing completely if you use the timed dry option (which is available on any dryer)... The other options meant to reduce energy or prevent wrinkling leave the clothes damp - so, what's the point.

My wife thinks the dryer is just broken, but we had the motherboard replaced three times under warranty and the experience was results never changed... The servicemen btw - said the dryer diagnostics indicated the PCB wasn't working properly - hence the repair. Sooo, all the fancy gadgets we paid for, did not work as advertised. BTW - the "sanitize" features must be working correctly, it takes over two hours to run, but it does get things really clean... So kudos to LG for that feature in the washer.

I think after this set, my wife will want a different brand since the features never satisfied her (guess who takes the heat... I won't be involved in the purchase or repair of future W&D's I can assure you that.) BUT, I suspect she'll focus on Brand Reputation - we ALWAYS read reviews to get other people's opinions, as well as websites like CNET or Consumer Reports.

I think the next purchase we make will be closely monitored by my wife and any repairs or failures to deliver the service promised will be a bad day for the person receiving her call. We own a Toyota, Apple, and Sony products so we expect carefree, totally reliable service from our products... We like that kind of thing and it compensates for the high cost.

I've defined the product pretty clearly up to this point, but they are LG front loading W&D's with stands... They're a very pretty red and we purchased them in 2007 so hopefully LG has learned something from the past equipment... specifically to improve reliability and features to work as one would expect them to. I know WE won't be purchasing another LG appliance for the rest of lives based on the experience we had with these... 10 years is too long to live with something that has never delivered what was promised and too short a time to rebuy them in hopes of getting something that works as promised.

I wouldn't buy a 2nd home from the same builder if the doors didn't close or the AC didn't work and I wouldn't buy the same model car again if I found out the Manufacturer LIED on the EPA standards to save themselves some money while lying to the consumer about the cars EPA Mileage. Someday corporations will learn there is no recovering from being too cheap to do the right thing. Take Toyota for instance, when they found out they had a bad transmission, they owned up to it and offered a solution... You don't have to make everything right all the time, but you do have to stand behind what you produce and not expect those who invested in your company to cover your failures.

We purchased an LG washer. I love the fact that without the middle paddle you can wash large items like king size spreads and comforters and all the clothes actually are treated more gently. I do not like buying new if the old is still working. Being able to get parts and having really good people who can and will work to keep the old model going. Regular repairs is a nightmare. Been there and done that, days without your appliance and you have to wash most days to keep the family in clean clothes and towels etc. Also low quality construction, which usually means noise pollution and the appliance walking all over the floor or pulling loose from the connections and the room being flooded.

This LG washer that I bought was the same price as for the Maytag that I had purchased 20 years before. It is high quality construction, stays where it is supposed to when it spins. Large size drum that washes very small loads with much less soap and water, or very large items like winter coats, king size bedding, comforters, etc. One thing I do not like is that everything rinses in cold water no matter which setting you use, and I like to be able to decide what temperature I want for the wash cycle and the temperature I want for the rinse. But all in all, that is the only thing I do not like about these computer controlled washers.

It should be easy to remove to prevent mold etc. The model we have even though you can place a large quilt inside it is still wet after the first spin. You have to do a drain and spin in order to get the excess water out. Maybe it would work better if it was a top loader without the agitator inside.

Options were priority #1 but cost vs options was a big consideration. Loved the steam dryer feature but wasn't a fan of the track record that front loading washers have with having to be cleaned regularly. However, that's been a minimal issue since we purchased them two years ago. Brand reputation and capacity is a plus as we have 2 kids and very busy schedules. Our need is to do large loads fast. So far that's been the result.

Regular repair and low quality construction would be instant turn-offs for my wife and I. But we likely wouldn't look at anything that would fall into those categories anyway. We have the two red LG front loading washer and dryer set with the steam dry option. We're able to load the washer up with large amounts of clothes regularly and wash them quickly, and we actually saw a drop in our water bill after we brought them home. We opted against the pedestals, but we're reconsidering that thought as they are a little short for a guy who is 6'3" and does his own washing. So far, not a single major issue.

Regulatory repairs would be deal breaker for me on an appliance because these days they are so cheap that one repair would be the cost of a new one. I really liked the fact that the digital controls have different settings and the ability to delay a wash until morning. I also like the quietness of it.

LG direct drive front loading washer and dryer pair - Both are super capacity, high efficiency, quiet and were a very acceptable cost. Loads of settings to choose from. One thing I disliked is the cost of the stacking kit. This kit consists of two strips of stamped metal and some screws for almost $200. It was also a 'special' order item that had to be ordered separately from the units. With a household of 8 people we needed super capacity in the washer and dryer as well as highly energy efficient and quiet. We do most loads at night due to time of day energy billing so many are sleeping during wash and dryer cycles. This is with a main floor laundry area so there is only one floor between the units and the bedrooms. We also did a lot of research into the various brands and were very impressed with LG's reviews.

A deal breaker is high cost, low energy efficiency with many undue repairs. I expect my appliances to last at a minimum of 15 years. Any less than that and they are a waste of money. Noisy units are also a no-no, there is no reason sound deadening can be incorporated into any unit these days. Poor quality of manufacture from ANY country of origin is a deal breaker for me.

We have had these units for about 4 years now and do laundry every day and several times on weekends due to a family of 8. They are the stackable units and we got the stacking kit. I am very unimpressed at the cost of the stacking kit compared to what it contains. Both are super capacity, direct drive, high efficiency units. The gasket for the washer door is a little difficult to clean but tends to not have to be cleaned very often. In the summer we find that spending time at the beach and washing towels and such the drain on the washer clogs with sand settling in it. The washer has a handy door and plug to get at the drain so it can be cleared. It was a pain the first time we discovered this but knowing it now it is fine.

I believe we paid about $1300 CAD for the pair. The add on 'special' order stacking kit was $200, very costly and overpriced. Try to make a deal when buying the pair to get the stacking kit thrown in if you can or at a discount at least. Overall we have had NO service issues or needed any service at all on the units. We did get an extended warranty for them both due to the price of the units and the value of the extended warranty. Washing and drying is quick, quiet, and they do use less water and energy to run. These days that is a big plus to us. Stacking was easy with the kit. You only need two people to lift the dryer on top of the washer once part of the kit is installed. We have had the kit installed for about 3 years now and have had no issues with it loosening off or causing any issues. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. I am also looking into other LG appliances in the future when our other major appliances finally fail.

It has Direct Drive Inverter (10 year warranty!!!) and the steam option. It has an optional platform for both the washer and dryer, which I highly recommend (if you value your buck). The washer is extremely user friendly, even for those of us who are technologically challenged. But, if you ever do need to troubleshoot a problem, the washer can talk directly to LG via your smartphone. :)

We purchased an LG washer and dryer set. The dryer works well, but the washer is a disaster. Our towels have an unpleasant musty smell just 1 day after they are washed. The rubber sleeve between the front panel and the drum is literally designed to trap moisture and grow mold. What a horrible design! We miss our old top loader Amana. That washer worked wonders on spots and dirtier clothes like playground pants with grass on the knees. Our front loader LG, on the other hand, is a piece of cr@p. We are waiting for this thing to develop any problem so we can replace it with a Bosch. Dryers works well. Washer doesn't get the clothes clean. It uses less water than our old washer but what good are water savings when the clothes don't get clean? We will check Amazon customer reviews to see which models to AVOID like the plague.

Before buying this LG washer we were focused on efficiency but with LG efficiency came at the cost of less than clean clothes and smelly towels. Reliability is important but effectiveness is a very close second. A reliable, highly efficient washer is junk if it doesn't get the job done. To reiterate, stay away from LG clothes washers. The design of the drum, pump, and the drum seal is defective. It traps moisture and promotes mold growth. Also, the pump/filter assembly on these washers holds about 12 OZ of water at all times. We forgot to drain the filter assembly before going on a 3-week vacation. When we came back, the whole downstairs of the house smelled like sewer. The stench was coming from our wonderful LG washing machine. I had to flush it with 2 gallons of bleach! Stay away from LG washers! They are toxic!

LG High Efficiency front loading washer and dryer - Great reviews. Good recommendations from other owners who are friends and family. Good brand reputation. We've had the set for less than six months but have been very happy thus far. They were marketed to be water efficient and quiet and they've delivered on both promises. The only thing I wished could be changed, and it's not a deal breaker, is that on our units, which purposely sit side by side, the door on the washer cannot be reversed to better transfer laundry to the dryer given our space configuration (so we couldn't have it changed to open from left to right, for example). It's not the end of the world to lift the laundry up and over the door to be put into the dryer, but it would have been simply more convenient in terms of repetitive motion for us.

We looked for energy and water efficiency this time around; load capacity was an important factor though not the primary. Given the fact that our last brand did not last as long as we felt it should, we were really intent on researching consumer confidence in this brand and model... Both which seemed to get high ratings. The deal breaker would be an appliance that did not wash or heat as well as it should and if it were regularly needing attention/repairs. It seems that now, the appliances are essentially computers which makes it nearly impossible to afford service and when you call the service providers - they tell you that it would be cheaper to just go buy a new one! The old way of thinking, that appliances are an investment, might just be an antiquated memory.

Our LG front loading high efficiency washer and dryer use less water and energy and do their jobs well. Our models are white and sit side by side. We did not opt to buy the optional pedestal drawers. They are incredibly quiet, do not move around and have a wide-variety of options for both cleaning and drying customization. The cost reasonable and around $1450 or so before tax or other related expenses. The overall price was potentially offset by various energy and water rebates but since we are townhouse dwellers, those are not available to us.

Chlorine bleach is corrosive & will erode the finish if not cleaned immediately. If any spills should happen make sure to wipe it up immediately & the area cleaned with warm water & a soft cloth. Touch-up paint may be used to cover the area, if not service may be necessary."

Think twice before buying a washing machine or any LG product!!! I got this machine back in the summer of 2011. It seemed to be a great product and you had the ability to washing extremely large loads of laundry at a time. But once something goes wrong then you are in trouble! The washing machine began throwing an error code nonstop during a laundry cycle which made doing a single load of laundry next to impossible. It would take me 3-4 hours to do ONE SINGLE LOAD due to the error code. It constantly kept refilling the tub with water and attempting to continue the cycle then it would knock itself off balance and start all over again.

Finally I had enough and called LG to see what the issue was. Talk about an awful customer service. I could barely understand the person and finally was able to get that there was a recall which was a software update from what the person had said and that they would contact a technician around my area to come service the machine (do the software update). That was fine by me and so I waited around to hear from the technician. A few days later I got a call from the technician in my area and they said that LG had contacted them and once they received the part they would come out and fix it. How in the world I went from needing a software update to ordered a part when no one had even come and looked at the washer was beyond me but I simply said ok and went about my day.

Here is when my nightmare with LG really began. The part apparently was on back order and they told me after going a month without being able to use the machine that the part would be in within the next few weeks. After the date they had given me was passed I decided to call them back to find out what in the world was going on which they would only reply saying that the part wouldn't be in until the end of the next month. I'm sorry but I can't go without a washing machine for over a month and they wanted me to go without one for over 2 months?!! To make this story short after getting absolutely nowhere with their terrible customer service I ended up making a phone call to Sears who did have the part and sent it out to me that same day. I got the part and was able to get my washer fixed (hopefully for good fingers crossed).

LG was not pleased that I got the part from another source and tried to convince me to cancel the order by stating that it could be the wrong part even though it was the same part that they claimed was the issue for the machine not working in the first place. Since I refused to cancel the order and wait on them to decide when they wanted to ship the part out, they refused to reimburse me for the part and were very rude. Please do some research before deciding on purchasing ANY PRODUCT from LG. I have dealt with plenty of customer service centers and this is by far the worst service center ever! The people you get connected to are nothing but rude and not one bit helpful if you have an issue with a product (especially washing machines!). They should really change their slogan from "Life's Good" to "Life's Greedy" because that is exactly what this company is!

This washing machine is total junk and I ended up spending a lot of money (on top of the cost of the washing machine) to fix this piece of crap that is truly not all that old. The parts for this machine are apparently always on back order and next to impossible to get to fix these junky products. I have had multiple places tell me that they no longer service LG appliances because it is too difficult to get the parts to work on them and that LG is a difficult company to work with and I sure learned my lesson after having to deal with them multiple times!

They do not care about their customers like they claim and have no problem making junky appliances and putting ridiculous price tags on them. I wish that I would have did even a quick search about the products before I had purchased this machine but I now know for future reference and will not be making the same mistake again. I recommend buying a different brand and staying away from LG!!! It will save you money and stress I promise!!!

Our Washer Model WT1101 ran great for 18 months and we joined the rest of you with the constant UE error message, long wash times, noisy, etc. Call local authorized LG appliance repair service and they immediately replaced the Rotor assembly which is located below the tub. A 20 minute fix, our out of pocket was the service call, $140. Rotor replacement was a warranty fix. Since then the machine runs fine, no issues.

Bought LG washer & dryer a little over 2 years ago at Lowe's. The washer just failed. Hundreds of dollars for new electronics board / labor. I wrote polite complaint email to customer service. Got a prompt reply leading off with the phrase “Life is Good". Then, a poorly constructed email telling me off. Rude. No question about what failed, how it failures, where I bought it, how I could get it fixed, how often I used the washer (very little--btw). NADA! If you luck out your LG product will not fail! If something goes wrong, you now own the new LG product line An LG Boat Anchor. Life is good! Don't trust this company! OK, OK, if you like masochism LG is your company! Enjoy!

We purchased a new upscale LG washer and dryer when we recently moved. Dryer works great. The washing machine does not provide enough water to cover the clothes unless one pushes the button for additional water but that is not the primary gripe. Without an agitator the clothes get all tangled up on the bottom of the machine and we don't believe the clothes get as clean as with an agitator. Who designed these machines without an agitator?? That was a proven design and has worked well for many years. Would not buy another one.

LG Washing machine model #wm4270hwa. Purchased this unit from Best Buy on 2-19-15. Ran flawlessly for 8 months, then it started to sound like a jet engine. Called LG on 1-5-16 and after transmitting tones to a tech over the phone he informed me that I needed to run the tub clean cycle. Ran the tub clean and no help. Called back and was informed that the unit was out of warranty. Spoke to two separate supervisors to no avail. LG will not help, Best Buy will not help. I called a local appliance repair, $180.00 to walk in. Repairman took a look and told me it was a catastrophic failure. Bearings, tub, stator, tub seals etc. were bad. So here I am, stuck with a thousand dollar washing machine that will cost as much if not more than I paid to repair. Will never buy anything from LG, also, I will tell my story to everyone! Please share.

About 4 years ago, my wife and I purchased a top load LG washer/dryer set from Lowe's for~ $1400 after our MAYTAG washer died after 20 YEARS. They worked fine for about 2 years. After that time, the washer started to get the UE error more frequently, and started to growl and squeal. For weeks, I tried to get a service appointment from LG under warranty. None of the listed repair shops would touch this thing for less than $90 service call. In talking to the tech, evidently, this is a common issue with these products and costs around $450-$500 to repair. I considered fixing it myself, but the expense of the part(s) and special tools required made it not viable.

As a mechanical engineer, there is no way this device should fail so quickly. We do maybe 6 loads of wash/week of normal clothes and towels. Bottom line, I will NEVER buy LG again!!! That includes phones and electronics. We just purchased and old school agitator machine from a domestic manufacturer. AND when in the market for a flat screen TV and phone, didn't even consider LG!

The insurance adjuster was the most difficult person I have ever worked with and was constantly yelling at me on the phone, telling me how this issue was not his problem and LG would not accept liability. It almost never completes a load of laundry without stopping at least one time and flashing UE, refilling the tub and starting over. It is not like I load the washer with towels on one side and socks on the other, I am not a moron. No matter how hard I try or how big or small the load, I can count on this pile of crap to make what should be an easy task a frustrating one. I purchased an LG top load washer in the summer of 2014. This machine has been the cause of so many headaches and so much frustration. My daughter texts me every time she uses the machine to tell me how much she hates it. I have had the technician to the house three times in the past year and a half. They have replaced the motherboard, motor, rotor, power cord and on and on... and it still does not work. It gives UE, OE and IE messages with every load. I have read the manual. Made sure everything was level, all water filters are clean and clear of debris and have researched these problems on the Internet. There is no solution. The machine is a lemon, a piece of junk. It has been since Day 1. It is the single biggest waste of money in the 20 years I have owned a home! LG has permanently lost this customer FOR LIFE! If I could leave zero stars, I would.

Did a few loads with bleach and wiped around rubber sealant weekly. The clothes do not seem "clean" to me. I have adjusted the water levels, amount of detergent, the cycle is way over an hour and the results are not good. The control panel shut down and now I have to spend $500 to replace it. I purchased a Front Load LG WM4270HWA along with matching dryer from Standard Appliance in Portland, Oregon, after reading good ratings online from Consumer Reports for these front loading machines. I had my Asko Asea dryer go out for the third time which I purchased in 2003. I was under pressure because of a pending breast cancer surgery within a week and was told by their repair group that they likely could not get parts on the older Asko. I ordered the new LG set needing sterile clean sheets and nightie after sterile prep before surgery. The repair company called and said five days later they could get the parts to repair the dryer, but it was too late, I had ordered the LG set to be delivered the next day.

My first run was one queen set of sheets, nightie and one towel. I immediately got the infamous UE signal and called the LG service number and was told to wash only one type of item at one time. I kept rearranging the load to no avail. I was then told to wash only one sheet at a time. I ran the spin and dry cycle several times to no avail. I then put the very wet sheets in the dryer with over an hour of drying. During the night I was sickened by the smell of sheets and nightie and had to change everything before my surgery.

After surgery recovery three weeks later, I attempted to run three different loads of laundry. All kept giving the UE signal. I have severe osteoarthritis (knees and shoulders) and had to travel up and down the stairs to keep reloading the machine because of balance errors. None of the loads came out clean the way my working Asko had cleaned. I then read the ConsumerAffairs report on the machine to find out these machines were not worth keeping especially since I have an extreme mold sensitivity (I am the worst HLA type for mold causing many chronic illnesses).

Standard agreed to take the machines back and although they could not retrieve and repair my old set as they had already parted out, for an additional 900 dollars (10% restocking fee plus added cost of Askos) they would send me a new set of Asko washer and dryers. Not the best solution for someone on a fixed income but much better than keeping a mold hazard. Asko was one of the few front loaders not included in the mold class action suits. It should be required to tell customers of pending class action suits before the purchase of expensive appliances. Mold is a life threatening issue for many people. Twenty five percent of the population do not clear toxins from their bodies. I am disappointed that Standard did not tell me of the mold issue but they did take back the machines which I appreciate.

This is our first time purchase LG. We bought this LG washing machine from Home Depot 2 months ago. It haven't worked right until now. All the machine have is hot water came out even I choose to use cool wash. I called Home Depot 4 times; they pick and transfer my call at least twice per time. They got my number and promise to solve but never call back. I keep follow up but all I got is to call LG myself. LG WARNED me they are going to charge me service fee if I didn't got their number from Home Depot.

The same day, I have to go in to Home Depot store and ask for LG's number. I called LG back, the same guy picked up my phone call (same voice, same accent), he got all the information: the model type, if I still have my receipt, if I still have my warranty, and told me IT MIGHT BECAUSE THEIR INSTALLATION PERSON PLUGGED THE COLD AND HOT WATER OPPOSITE WAY AND TOLD ME TO FIX IT MYSELF! Can you all believe that?

I have never done things like this. What if I break it? Will they reject to fix it for free because the machine broke by human factor? What if I changed it and it's still not working right? I reject their "suggest"; they leave me a number and told me to contact with service MYSELF, again! When I require to speak to a manager, they refuse my request a euphemistic way which is I don't need a manager because he can help me! I really feel like neither Home Depot and LG want to help me with it at all. They push their responsibility away. If they can't push them away then they will set up a lot trouble. They just sell me their product and treat me like a nut. I have my schedule; I have my job. I had enough. I will never by their product again.

This WT5075CW washer is completely useless. I am going to have to replace it, and I have only had it a little over a year, but I can't take it anymore. It gets unbalanced on the spin cycle for no apparent reason. I only was like weight and size clothes together. I rearrange the clothes when it gets unbalanced and then restart. It starts filling with water again and stops unbalanced again. I try the Spin Only cycle. Same thing. I was the same loads every week and it is completely random as to which load will have this problem.

Last week, it was the delicates – how can they cause an unbalance???!!! I am left with an entire load of sopping wet clothes that I have to drain over the top of the washer, hang out on the patio until the dripping stops and then dry in the dryer for over an hour. I called my BrandsMart extended warranty repair team out and they said that is how the washer was designed and charged me $60.

I will never ever buy another LG product of any kind. I purchased my washing machine almost five years ago and have been fighting with it ever since. At ok never point I discovered that the machine had actually been recalled. The machine was known to vibrate across the floor. The techs have been out numerous times but when Home Depot called they said they were only out twice, once a no power issue. They are so misinformed. I had the motherboard replaced and other issues. Now if I wash a quilt the machine stops and flashes. Then when I put it on Spin Only it shoots out water!! So I am left with soggy blankets. I am so furious and disappointed. They should have designated this a lemon four years ago. I think someone needs to instigate a class-action lawsuit against LG. Why are we putting up with this??? I plan to have my lawyer look into this. The techs are coming again on Friday. They will say the same nonsense. I will tell them it is time to sue.

I have an LG washing machine that is 1 year old. It cost $700. Every week the machine becomes unbalanced, the tub fills with 25 gallons of water and I have to reset the spin cycle to finish the cycle. This is wasteful and causes a big water bill but is mostly annoying to have to stand and waste my time watching a machine wash my clothes. The top has True Balance written on the top and is star rated for efficiency. It is not efficient nor does it stay balanced. It has a "smart diagnosis" which is a joke as the people who are supposed to diagnose the problem don't speak understandable English nor do they know how to fix the machine over a phone. This machine needs to be recalled until they can fix the balancing problem on it.

The first was when the motherboard went out in the middle of a cycle, locking clothes and standing water inside. After almost 3 weeks of waiting, the board was replaced and our stinky clothes were free. Now 2 years later every single load has issues spinning. It will spin for a minute or two and then flash UE. I rearrange and it does the same thing 2 minutes later. After a few weeks of this I shut it off and let the dryer do more of the work with a complete load of wet clothes. I strongly don't recommend this set to anyone unless do not have anything better to do but sit in the laundry room and watch the washer. Horrible set for the price!!!

However the new machines, neither fill properly with water or agitate like the older models and therefore clothes, towels, sheets do not come clean. We were told by LG to use the permanent press cycle as it uses the most water. In addition, select prewash, extra rinse and heavy duty (for amount of soil). All this take over 1.5 hours. It does use a bit more water and clothing is much cleaner but not 100%. All our whites have slowly greyed after using this washer for 6 months. Yes they can advertise that they use less water but they sure cannot advertise that the washer does its job.

I have owned an LG washing machine for almost two years. It seems to clean just fine; however, I have had to develop a method for making it finish a complete cleaning cycle. After the machine is loaded, I set a timer for the minutes indicated on the display. That alerts me to begin watching for the final spin cycle, which goes and goes and goes if I don't intervene. This is when I turn off the water to keep the machine from continually filling up to achieve proper balance. I then go to "special cycles," where I click the "spin only" function. Many times I have to repeat this procedure to avoid having to put a soggy load of clothes in the dryer. It reminds me of when my mother used a wringer washer to clean our clothes. It has to be constantly monitored.

Have had a technician visit us three times and he made sure the machine is level, has a new board with updated firmware and still we have problems. Even more telling is the fact that a tub clean cycle (water only) cannot finish without the machine stopping to display "UE". I've given up. LG here you go. I will give credit where credit is due. I have owned an LG washer and dryer front loader for 11 years now. No repair issues as of yet. Only one complaint is the dryer lint filter. I do agree probably a design flaw. It grabs my clothes and snake rolls them. So I did order a new filter and will see how that fixes the issue. I only have one thing to say to those that are furious about your machines. The technology in the digital control panel is crazy. We are not playing with 3-4 dials with resistors to control them (very reliable). If you want to use 50 gallons of water to wash your clothes then buy a basic top loader.

By the way enjoy spending 3 times as long doing it. I have the 4.5 cu. ft. washer and enjoy the fact I can wash 15 large towels in it at one shot and dry them usually in 1 auto setting on the dryer. Lastly you can only heat up and cool off a dryer element so many times before it craps out. Like a hair dryer. Most people are angry when writing their review, and some I may understand your frustration. The warranty can't be any more obvious 1 yr parts and labor. Buy an extended warranty if you want more warranty, but they are usually a ripoff. I love my LG and wouldn't swap it for a made in Mexico Whirlpool or Maytag.
