Bought this washer in August 2014. Within 18 months, the washer started throwing constant error codes. After trying for 6 months to fix the washer using steps outlined by LG, the problem has only gotten worse. LG offered to send a repair service out to fix the washer for nearly $500, which is almost as much as the washer cost. When I mentioned that the problem seems widespread online and that LG was offering no-cost service calls to others experiencing the same problem (it appears to be a consistent and easy fix of replacing the board and stator), they refused to offer the same service and insisted the repair would include a hefty fee. I would rather spend my money on a brand that stands by its products.

So.. this machine was given to me and now I know why! This damn machine sucks BIG TIME! I must get rid of it too because it does absolutely nothing but soaks my clothes in filthy water and in slow motion, rotates it mid circle (to the left and right). When loads are "done," vagina discharge on my panties and deodorant stain on my blouses! Sorry... I know that's tmi, but it's the truth. This ** washer is a waste of space. LG... y'all suck!

I purchased the LG Direct Drive washer model number WT1101CW a couple of years ago. It worked great the first six months. Now virtually every load you wash throws a U.E code meaning load is uneven while in the spin cycle. If you don't pull the load out and place it by weight around the tub it either shuts off until you do or fills back up with water over and over again. Rarely does it solve the problem itself. I would rather have a bottom of the line washer than this piece of junk. I don't understand how it received the Energy Star Rating when it waste gallons of water on every load not to mention the extra electricity. It makes you wonder if the Energy Star Rating means anything on products. Whoever is in charge of it obviously didn't do much testing on this unit. Companies like LG and Samsung make great electronics but when it comes to appliances not so much.

I bought an LG Washer and dryer less than 4 years ago. I have a protection plan for them, contacted Home Depot where I purchased it. They said it sounds like a manufacturer defect. Gave me the number of LG. Told them my Washer was peeling and rust was falling on my clothes, They told me they do not cover manufacture defects and rust, and it is cosmetic. How can they say it is cosmetic if it is dropping rust on my clothes? They did offer to send out a tech to my house for a charge to order a new piece but I would have to pay for it. I thought LG was better than this and would stand behind their products. Never again will buy an LG product again!

If there was a way to give this LG True Balance Top-load Washer less than one star I would do it. I absolutely HATE HATE HATE this machine. There is no sized load, small or large, that goes thru a complete cycle without the unbalanced signal going on. This is NOT a washer you can leave alone for any length of time. I am constantly standing over it to "readjust" the clothing in the load to prevent yet another rinse and the washer's attempt to even out the load before the spin. Unless there is a fix for this, I will NEVER buy another LG product.

Got this LG top of the line unit October 2015. Within a month the water began filling through the detergent AND softener trays simultaneously. Did the digital wifi help thing dozens of times with my cellphone, they said nothing wrong, clean your inlet filters. What??? By December the tub failed to fill with enough water at all to wash anything, regardless which tray side was filling from. A load of Pure Colors came out literally with dry spots in the clothing! Add to that, the balancer within the direct drive unit was slipping badly, somewhat similar to a bad car clutch, and any size load on any cycle was being violently bashed against the inside frame. Sounded like my front door was being kicked in. So, to sum up, I have $878 worth of scrap in my house that will not fill properly, wash properly or spin properly. I still have 7 more months on the financial contract, and I'm sick about it.
LG finally hooked me up with an in house service guy --- he never replied to the 2 service calls that were set up --- and closed out both tickets saying customer reported solved. Really? By the way, the name of this place was "Al's TV and Model Railroad" so that about sums up the quality of LG service!!! My lawyer is requesting certified copies of LG's warranty, the financial contract, and my phone and web interactions. I don't want to feel as if my only option is legal action, but I will if LG leaves me no other option.

After the first year of ownership, what I thought was an investment of a lifetime, has evolved into the mistake of a lifetime. This washing machine (LG WT1201C) is depositing some kind of a black substance all over my entire wash. When rubbing this deposit while wet it dissolves into some kind of oily residue. I had three different service technicians from three different companies all of which said I needed to clean the machine more. Really??? One technician went as far as to say it had something to do with the drain line.
I have used every product imaginable to clean the tub to include bleach, vinegar, tub clean from Affresh, and Tide, none of which has resolved the problem. I have even removed the drain hose from the machine, and washed it out (which should not have to be done). The slime inside the hose is not the same substance which is being deposited on my clothes. I had a very expensive set of sheets ruined on the first experience, not to mention having to drive across town to wash my clothes.
The problem seemed to have subsided for a while, but now it is back with a vengeance. I called LG to set up a service call and spoke with Cyrus on 6-6-16 who informed me I would have to call back and schedule an appointment with Sears and was given the phone number of 800-905-9505. Cyrus stated these people were trained to work on LG products. I called the number provided on June 11th speaking with Donald and set the appointment for Monday June 20th and was given the repair ticket # **. On June 20th the technician didn't bother to show up or call, after I had taken the day off from work for this repair. I called LG in regards to this matter and spoke with Tori ID#**, who informed me they (Sears Center) had treated her just as poorly when questioning why the technician had not shown up or called.
To make matters worse the Scheduling Department took it upon themselves to schedule an appointment for the next day, Tuesday. Again I placed a call to the Service Center to cancel this service call as I had not made the appointment and would not be available due to my work schedule. I explained, to the male on the phone, not to schedule any appointments as I would call back when I had time available. The following day I received another automated call to inform me a technician would be arriving on Thursday. Again I had to place a call to cancel this appointment.
To escalate this matter even more on 6-27-16 I called the Sears Service Center, and was informed they could not schedule a service call for Saturday, as this was a warranty call and they do not do warranty work on Saturday, just non-warranty work, and I was informed, by Sears I would have to call LG back as my repair order had been cancelled, which I did, and spoke with Heather, who informed me they have no control over when Sears schedules their technician.
On 6-29-16 I started the calling game all over again placing a call to 800-905-9505, and the female answering the phone said she could not schedule any appointments for any Saturday. I then asked to speak with the supervisor and spoke with Robert for the second time. When he started to say they didn't have any Saturdays available I advised him I had already spoken to him and knew he was not telling the truth. All of a sudden magic happened. I was given the date of July 9th with a service # of **. When asking Robert where this call center was he stated it was Columbia.

This has been the worst washer ever. Like so many reviews before me the washing machine never shuts off. I have been washing one blanket since 9:00 this morning. I just told it to spin out so it would stop. I read many of the reviews on this LG waveforce washer yesterday and felt it wasn't worth the time and money to work with it. Cost me $2000 today to replace the washer and dryer because I wanted them to match. I am actually going to set the pair in garage hoping that there is a class action suit and I get my money back.

LG Waveforce Top Load Washer - I have not been happy with this product since day 1. After careful and close observation, I have come to the conclusion that this machine corrects for its inefficiencies by doubling and tripling some of the rinse and spin cycles, thereby making it MORE inefficient than the center-agitator style washing machine. I mean, really, it tells you a load will be 53 minutes and it ends up taking an hour and 53 minutes because of the extra cycles it runs itself thru just to balance and re-balance. When this thing dies (hurry, hurry) I'm going back to the center-agitator style washer if they're still on the market. So much for "energy and water efficient" washing machines. Geez, just clean my clothes without all this computer controlled inefficiency - paleeze.

Made the mistake of buying LG (Front Loading Washing Machine) assuming that the quality would be good, worked well for about 3 years then constant problem with all that cool stuff going out. We called LG, paid the $300.00 flat rate fee to have someone come fix it and 6 weeks later we are still waiting for it to be repaired correctly. They sent out a guy that diagnosed it. Told us parts were on back order then 3 weeks later he came, installed the parts, told us it was working fine and got the same error code on the first cycle. We are still waiting for the guy to show up with the new parts. We won't be buying another LG.

I purchased LG front load washer. The gasket where the cleaning liquid, bleach and fabric softener is placed is always full of mold. Also when the gasket is removed, the location where gasket is inserted is full of mold plus the front section of the washer. Contacted LG several times and they say it is a consumer issue and not a company issue. Absolutely disappointed with their service. They are currently under a class action lawsuit for front load washers with this same issue for those that were purchased between 2000-2006 but since mine was purchased 2012 it doesn't apply. It's amazing to me how they won't acknowledge same issue they are in court for. I own LG washer, dryer, refrigerator and TVs and I would never purchase an LG product again.

LG T9577TEELJ 8.5 kg Top Loading Washing Machine - I have bought this machine recently around 5 months back and have tried everything and even LG has sent people for resolving the issue but they also failed in their attempts. Even if you wash clothes separately the lint on clothes stays along with washing powder patches. The inbuilt filter even if cleaned adds no value. Thus it's a waste of money and LG doesn't have any solution to this except for generating service request again and again. Would recommend guys not to go for this machine.

Purchased unit new approx. 15 months ago; one of the benefits of this unit was the high-speed tub helping to dry clothes-- reducing dryer loads. While in use with only a queen-sized mattress pad the tub broke away from drive unit during spin cycle and sent the unit literally bouncing-off the 2 nearest walls (destroying drywall). The unit top and rear panels were separated from the body, and the body walls were expanded (rounded outward). The unit wouldn't fit through door frame. This could present potential safety issue!!! Beware!!!

I purchased a new LG TrueBalance washer. I hate it. Example: I just tried to do a short wash with two pairs of slacks, a men's shirt, and a tee-top. After 1 hour of having the washer stop due to "off balance" signal 5 times, repositioning contents each time, and restarting cycle and still not getting any further along -- I pulled the clothes out and am now trying to get the washer to finish cycle empty. This was not a unique experience. Unless I jam the washer full so that nothing can virtually move -- it takes me an entire day (at minimum 12 hours) to do 6 loads of clothes. I would never ever again purchase a washer without a center agitator, the ability to fill washer and leave for overnight soaking (which I can't now), and get rid of all of this computer bologna! UPDATE: The "off balance" signal just went off again with the washer empty! If you are shopping for a washer -- do not get blinded by all the new/many bells and whistles.

I bought an LG "True Steam Balance" washer and dryer 2 years ago. Without a doubt, my 30 year old agitator washer and dryer in our house "up north" function much better. I purchased on the strength of Consumer Reports recommendation and because I thought the steam option would be useful. Consumer Reports really blew this one or else the report was written by some young person who considers wrinkles a fashion statement.
EVERYTHING and I include towels, comes out so wrinkled that it requires touching up with an iron. I cannot WAIT to get rid of this washer and dryer; it makes life harder, not easier. I can't fault the cleaning; the clothes are cleaned just fine, but I believe that the washer spins with such ferocity that wrinkles are "set" into the clothes and no amount of tumbling, or taking them out of the dryer while damp, will eradicate the wrinkles.

Purchased a LG front load washing machine that has been leaking water for the past 4 months. Machine is still under warranty: 3 different service technicians visited home over 5 times and have been unable to repair the machine. The technicians initially claimed we were using too much detergent, till the last technician found a crack in the discharge hose and replaced it. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only problem as the machine is still leaking, but now worse than before. And now the leak is so bad, it resulted in water damage to our new construction home. Not only that, but the once quiet machine now sounds worse than before and the technician scratched up our unit.
I informed LG again but still no result. From the very beginning, I pleaded with them to send a different service company to our home, but LG refused. I talked to customer service reps and even folks in their executive services department to no avail. After the first few visits, I began to ask for LG to replace the unit, again LG refused. After the leak caused water damage, I asked again for LG to replace the unit, but again LG refused. The machine is still under warranty, the service technicians have been unable to repair the unit, but LG still refuses to replace it even though the terms of the warranty indicate that replacement is an option.

I spent $2000 on this front loading brand new LG wash machine. I bought this machine in July 2016 - delivered in September 2016 - power stopped in February. I had electrician come out - nothing wrong with my power. Called LG again - sent me to Appliance Doctor. They do not call back. Had to write to LG again and complain. I wish for a Samsung like I had before. These people need to give me my money back.

LG Waveforce washer is constantly off balance. The manual will tell you that you cannot do a small load. Believe them!! Unless you are willing to put 2 sheets in with your delicates, and that sometimes doesn't work, it is impossible to wash a small load. It takes hours to complete a wash load due to the off balance signal. You actually have to babysit the washer. I often take the wash out still heavily wet to hang on a line. Would never buy this product again.

I bought a top loading LG washer from Home Depot in March 2016. By October 2016 it was smelling like mold & mildew. I did everything I was suppose to: use washer cleaner in it and run cleaner cycle once a month, it continued to get worse. I contacted LG Customer Service & Tech Support in December 2016, they scheduled a repairman to come out. He put cleaner in it & ran a cycle, and confirmed the smell. I called a week later, complained again. They sent repairmen out 5 times over the next 3 months who each did the same thing and confirmed the washer stinks, at this it reeks, and each time they said it was unrepairable. But, LG would not deem it unrepairable over the phone on Tech Support with the repairman and this is the only way you can get a new washer.
Two different repair services were coming out at this point and both refused LG request after multiple visits to my house. So 3.5 months later I had wasted 5 work days waiting on repairmen time windows of 5 to 6 hours to come to my house, pour cleaner in my washer (which I am a very competent, college-educated person who can pour cleaner in a washer and press a button) & then have both repair companies tell me they will no longer waste their time coming to my house. I also has a plumber come out and inspect my lines and hookups ($114.00) cost to me and tell me the smell was definitely coming from washer.
Now, LG says nothing else they can do!! I was sold a lemon, had it less than six months, and started having issues. LG is the worse company I have ever dealt with. They make you jump through hoops like a circus dog and beat you down hoping you will just give up. This company needs to be held accountable for their non-actions. Please do not buy LG products!

I bought an LG top loading washing machine with direct drive a couple of years back. Perhaps a year later, I began to regularly get "UE" error messages (uneven load) which would stop the cycle. I would have to open the door, try to redistribute the wet laundry and then restart the cycle. Sometimes multiple times for 1 load. It would often TAKE LITERALLY 3-5 HOURS to do a single load of laundry!!! Sometimes, the machine will try to correct the idiotic error by automatically refilling the tub with water... I guess in an effort to redistribute the load. This never works. The machine has gotten progressively worse with this "UE" issue to the point that now it stops on 80-90% of the cycles! I often end up having to stand by the machine during the spin cycle until it either stops and gives the error message or begins to refill the tub, then I have to turn off the machine and put the soaking wet clothes into the dryer.
As I write this, it is 11 pm and I just put a soaking wet load of laundry that started at 630 pm into the dryer. It doesn't matter if I put in a tiny load or a big load. It doesn't matter if I adjust the spin speed to low or medium. It still gives the "UE" error on most of the loads. What's more, the machine has a "spin only" option - one might think that this means "spin only." Nope. I've tried selecting that option to empty the tub after several "UE" errors, but it will inevitably start filling with water again. How "spin only" turns into filling the tub with water is beyond me. Absolutely ridiculous. This machine is supposed to be energy efficient, but It Wastes energy by running and re-running for hours on end, WASTES WATER BY SENSELESSLY REFILLING FOR NO REASON AND WASTES ITS OWNERS VALUABLE TIME. WASTE OF MONEY! Do NOT buy LG Top load washer!!!

I really like my LG washing machine and dryer. It doesn't look as upgraded as some of Samsung's new dryers but it gets the job done. But I would have preferred more color choices without having to spend an additional couple hundred dollars. I love that there is not an agitator and it has an extra large capacity. I can easily fit my king size comforters in the basin. I love the turbo speed function that allows you to wash your clothes at a reduced time. You also save a lot of water because it only puts in enough water to cover the clothes.
The machine does a 'survey' for the weight and size of the load to determine the amount of water to use. I normally only need the smallest amount of detergent in most loads, so you save money there too. There are plenty of cycles types to select from and some you can customize. My dryer has an awesome steam feature! This really reduces wrinkles in dress clothing! I also love the sensing feature on the dryer. I rarely have to add more time or dry a second time. It also has a large capacity. The signal indicating both the washer and dryer could be louder.
There is also an app with the units that you can get laundry tips. I would have preferred to be able to start and stop functions and/or time left on loads with the app. You can also use your cell phone to diagnose errors on the units. You hold the phone to the unit and it sends codes to help with troubleshooting. The washing machine could be more quiet. I can definitely hear the wash if I'm in rooms next door. My washer is just over 3 yrs old and the bearing went. When I called LG to explain the problem they told me that the parts were under warranty but the service call wasn't. So they would charge me for a service call and the labor!! And then they went on saying and if it is something else other than the motor/bearing or parts that are covered then we will be responsible for the parts. All that is wrong is a bearing went and it should be covered a 100%. She goes on saying "if you read page in your owner's manual it goes over what is covered and that we don't cover service calls or labor."
She was very rude and no help at all. I feel a washer should last longer than 3 yrs. I take exceptionally good care of my things and LG just falls apart. I am now looking into other companies that do repairs on appliances cause after reading other people's horror stories I don't want any of their rude, unprofessional, crappy employers stepping foot into my home. My main objection about the washing machine is that the gasket that goes around the front door, collects a lot of grime and it sits underneath where you can't see it. If it is not cleaned out frequently the black gunk is spread on the load of cloths. Also, water sits at the bottom of the gasket and mold begins to build from one wash to the next. Needs a better way to seal the gasket and stop it from leave it wet when done.

Had been noticing small (and some large too) particles on my clothes. Blamed it on everything else except the washing machine. Read book and was instructed to clean tub with bleach or a tub clean. Cleaned it and the large particles became small particles. In the beginning I rewashed everything which didn't help. So now I have to shake the clothes outside, rinse and spin again, put in dryer and shake clothes outside or pick or roll off the particles. Have to be very careful when clothing is wet because the particle will smear and leave a mark on the clothes. Does not clean the clothes as well either.
I called company and was given foreign representative who read from a script saying to set the washer on a certain number she gave me and put phone near the machine. She said it is okay and had no error codes. Spoke to another person who said to have someone come in to check it. When reading the website about this machine, it has the identical problem with many other consumers. One person described the problem as having a can of Pepsi explode in machine. Many have had techs come to fix with no such help to the problem, just a large bill to pay. This is sad. I have a top loader bought in 2015.
The front loaders appear to also have a smell which I seemed to combat with the bleach and leaving the top open. It is indescribable and I do intend to write to the State Attorney General as this does not seem to be something that should happen with a brand new machine and the company takes no responsibility for the problem. Too many consumers have this problem. I could go on but I get extremely upset and my daughter bought in 2016 a front loader and I'm sure it will happen to her. My husband researched on computer and we have to try to get more of these particles dissolved which we are going to try with vinegar. Bleach breaks up the sediment which you cannot see but the vinegar supposedly dissolves it. I am 69 years old and have never had such a problem with a washing machine. This is a disgrace!!!

Here you go: 1) There is a terribly designed trap door at the bottom left where you are supposed to a) clean your filter and b) drain your tub out if pump breaks or any other problem with water remaining in tub. Well, if the tub gets full of water and doesn't drain out, the tube doesn't work and you open the lint cleaner and water goes all over your floor. It is horrible. I really hate this washing machine. Absolutely TERRIBLE machine - LG Washing Machine-Model WT1101CW. Bought this washing machine 3 yrs ago. Broke 4 months ago. Used SEARS Home Repair to fix (I bought washer from them). 5 technicians, 4 major parts replaced, 7 service calls later machine still broken - unbalance load indicator goes on stopping machine from running and then if you get the unbalanced load indicator to go out (at least 6 tries), it then goes thru 3 spin/rinse cycles, refilling the tub each time, even if the machine is EMPTY. Takes 3-4 HOURS for a "normal" no frills cotton wash cycle (using default settings) to complete. Absolutely ridiculous. My old GE and Whirlpool worked like a Timex for 12 years. I can't sell it because it's defective. I wouldn't even give this machine to charity.
SEARS won't stand behind its 90 day service warranty. The technicians would NEVER let me run a FULL load through a cycle to test it. $600 dollars in repairs/service calls and it still doesn't work right! They won't give me my money back for the service calls that did nothing to fix the problems, even though the Techs promised the new parts would fix it. HA! DON'T BUY FROM SEARS or LG. This is the worst machine ever. They are now selling a 2 year old machine at local flea markets to see if a sucker will buy it. True Balance means it will never truly balance and will not wash one load of clothing without it taking you hours. This machine might work on cement and only cement because if it is on a wood flooring it will not work.
I have found that if I load clothes, it keeps trying to sense the clothing, then I shut it off, restart and let it go. I can get half a cycle done until it spins then is off balance again. Then you shut it off, turn it back on to spin. Shut it off, then restart with rinse and spin... You can sometimes get it to work. The worst design ever for this high priced piece of junk.
LG is not a company I will ever purchase from again. Do not buy this machine and do not take this machine if it is given to you for free. All other comments are true. It will not wash clothes. It just spins around and uses endless amounts of water to balance. Hours upon hours for 1 small load. If you have this machine do what I listed above. Have the exact same type of clothing, start a cycle, let it get it wet, when it gives you the error message shut it off, restart when clothes are wet, then when it does the IE shut it off, restart on spin, then restart on rinse/spin. You can get one load done if you are lucky.
LG is a horrible company. My LG phone failed after a year, the Washer has never worked... and other items. No more LG. Life is not Good with LG. Life stinks with LG and you pay the price. In 2013 I purchased a set of LG large capacity washer and dryer. I was excited when I got my new machines. At first I was amazed, as it did not seem my clothes had been washed so clean and dried so efficiently in years, compared to my old washer and dryer. After a few months, it seemed the washer would stop itself more and more often, with a UE flashing on the screen and required opening the machine and rearrange heavy wet clothing until it would spin through.
About that time I received a notice of a recall that affected my machine. I called the recall hotline number and a technician was sent to replace the faulty parts. This solved the problem with balance and wash cycle, but left the washer with few choices for temperature. You have the choice of warm/warm, regardless of the setting other than tap cold. Cold/cold runs warm/warm. At least the machine was operating and cleaning the clothes. I was told it may happen again and that, if it did, to keep the number for the recall hotline. I have always made a special point of taking large blankets or anything other than regular clothing or bedding/towels, to a public laundry.
Recently, once again, the machine has been throwing the clothing to the side and refusing to complete the load without the struggle of reaching in and rearranging the load, reading unbalanced several times before the load would finish. The last load I did was two regular bed sheets and a few wash clothes and it stopped twice before completed the cycle.
I called the recall hotline from my paperwork and a tech was sent to our home, today. I was at work, so my husband greeted the repair technician. After trying the machine on its cycle, running on empty, he called me at work to tell me it tested normal. I assured him it was far from normal. The technician proceeded to tell me it is very important with this delicate machine, to only wash light loads of the same clothing, such as sheets only, towels only, light cotton with like size and fabric and jeans or heavier clothing, with only a few at a time and no other clothing. He stated he wanted to run a load of laundry to test the machine.
My husband started putting clothes into the washer when the technician stopped him and told him to select only a few items of like size and fabric. The technician ran the load and called to inform me the machine had no problems and he was closing the ticket on the repair. I told the repairman to go home and ask his wife if she would be satisfied to do her laundry under the specifications he was informing me, this delicate machine (large capacity, supposed high power) requires.
All of this to say, LG does not stand behind their product, the parts are sub quality and the massive recall on this machine only served to put a band-aid on a major problem. The machines should have been replaced and the customer should have been satisfied, instead of spending $850 on a machine that has lasted a total of 3 years. Model WT1101CW - I was so excited when I bought our LG top loading HE washer in July 2014. I was impressed w/ the features and the fact that it was SUPPOSED to have TRUE BALANCE. What a bunch of crock! Everything was wonderful for the first year and half and then we started getting the UE error message for unbalanced loads on the spin cycle. This problem got progressively worse as time went on no matter how many times I redistributed the clothes, meticulously sorted clothes so that I only washed towels or heavy things at a time.
Now I can't even get one load done in a day, b/c it keeps adding water to REBALANCE the load, or I have to stand over it to watch it spin and turn it off so it won't add more water or, constantly monitor the weight of the wet clothes, or have to run my dryer for hours to get the clothes dry b/c the clothes never fully went through a whole spin cycle and were still very wet. This machine has actually used more water, and electricity with the all day washing or extra drying.
Every problem expressed by previous reviews is on point. I can't believe that I had to call customer service after ONLY 2 1/2 years of owning this appliance. PATHETIC. And customer service was joke quoting me $280-$340 for a tech to come out, after the REMOTE DIAGNOSTIC didn't DIAGNOSE the problem. This was a selling feature by the way, but required me to call during certain hours and press certain buttons. So I will NEVER buy another LG product again, and also think that I am going back to regular Agitator washing machines. My old washing machine gave out and I invested in what I thought was going to be a good washer. I decided to splurge a bit in order to get a "good" washer. I purchased from a 3rd party (JCPenney) so it took 4 weeks plus an additional 2 weeks because it was on back order. So for 6 weeks I was going to the laundromat. I took the day off work to be available for delivery. The delivery guys dropped it off, hooked it up and checked it and it was working. I did my first load of laundry and it would not complete a load. It gave me an error message. All day long I tried different ways around it and nothing. My husband changed the water hoses since it said it was the water pressure and nothing. We called LG that evening and basically was told because it was the water pressure in our home that they would not send a repairman. Our house is very new and our old washer worked fine water pressure wise. We told them to just take it back then and they agreed.
Very long story short they would tell us they would take it back and or send a repairman and nothing would happen. We would call back and same promises and nothing. JCPenney has called them various times to have them send someone to repair and they refuse. Now it's 2 weeks out and we, JCPenney and even the delivery people have called various times to get it repaired or returned and they refuse. It's insane we're having to go through this kind of trouble when it's brand new out of the box and we bought warranties on it. I'm extremely disappointed in the way LG is handling this situation and I will never buy another LG appliance in my life nor will I recommend to anyone that they do either. This review of LG washers is more a review of LG customer service and a warning to prospective customers. I have owned my LG washer for about three years now. It has True Balance, a feature that consumes water in an attempt to balance the load. The washer is absolutely level. However it rarely completes a load because True Balance is unable to get the load balanced enough to get through the spin cycle. So I have to turn the water off. Balance it by hand. Then maybe it will get through the cycle. Often the items are too soaked to put in the 30-year old Kenmore dryer. So I have to hang them.
My water bill has increased 25% since getting the washer. Have complained to LG. Initially they told me to level the washer. Now they just ignore me. Apparently because I (a person who has tested at a mechanical level in the upper 2% of the population) am unable to level a washer. I was however able to rebuild the Kenmore Dryer twice to keep that running. That's not a recommendation of Kenmore because Kenmore isn't Kenmore anymore.

I purchased this product as reviews had been good, and the price was right. It has been the worst machine I have ever owned. In spite of trying various settings, and contacting the manufacturer, clothes just don't get clean, and even today, linens that I took out had more stains on them than when they went in. The clothes don't agitate, and even if you use a setting that adds more water, the clothes just don't move around.
They come out in the same position as when you loaded the machine. Forget using a water-saving setting - the clothes are barely damp. The machine will go off balance if there is anything, even one item, that is of a different weight. It resets itself endlessly. I miss my old Maytag and can't wait for a reason to get rid of the LG Washer. The drier is also a problem, but I guess I can live with wrinkled clothes more than I can with dirty ones. Don't buy an LG.

TrueBalance Washing Machine - Top Loader WT1501CW - We recently got this washer (purchased new) & within a week I knew we made a big mistake. At first I thought we just needed to adjust to this type of machine (we've used a front loader with no problems for years). We bought a extra large capacity but can't put but a small load in because it doesn't move the clothes. I've washed on bulky load hoping it would wash better but it didn't help. Clothes on top stay in top & our clothes doesn't get clean.
I sweat a lot & it's bad when you put clothes on that smell like they already been worn for three days. My daughter works in a factory & her pants always look dirty with grease. I wash my clothes I wash small loads, with color bleach, Biz stain & odor eliminator, Downy with odor defence, & Wisk deep clean detergent & Downy fabric softener on stain care option & prewash. It never puts enough water to cover the clothes even when we use the extra water feature. Worst purchase we have ever made. I can't say this enough...don't waste your money.

Our direct drive, load self-balancing, year and a half old machine has been exhibiting all the unbalanced load problems frequently mentioned in reviews that I found after my wife told me that she keeps getting "EU" code indicating an unbalanced load which she redistributes by hand, followed by standing over the machine and holding it as steady as possible in order to finish the loads. When I tried to change the spin speed to low, the machine spun as fast as ever. After reading the other reviewer's experience with LG's customer relations I intend to go out tomorrow and buy a non-LG washing machine and try to support any class action lawsuits that are inevitable (I hope). Maybe after their exploding cell phone problems are over, they will take care of their appliance customers. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, it seems as if LG didn't do their due diligence when it comes to product testing prior to bringing to market.

Bought this in 2014. Had never washed worth a darn. I paid over $900 on this piece of junk. The fact that I have to start out on the bulky setting till it fills up, then turn it off, restarting it on power cleanse to get the clothes to move around makes it not so energy efficient! If not used in this manner, the lack of water causes the clothing to rub against each other causing pilling of the material. Doesn't clean properly either. You have to pre treat, and wash 4 times to get any kind of stain out. I'm buying a new machine this year and it won't be an LG. What a waste of hard earned money! I'm so frustrated!

The "IE" error comes on after each and every wash making the process longer as I have to reset it to 'Spin Only" in order to get the clothing wrung out. Purchased this machine in 2010 for over $800. I was told it was fabulous. It was - for a few months. But then we noticed that our clothes were no longer smelling clean. In fact they come out smelling worse than when they went in dirty. There is just nothing that can prepare you for getting out of the shower, grabbing a "clean" towel and experiencing a smell so sour and disgusting, that you feel as though you need to shower again.
They told us that we need to "maintain" our machine every month. What??? Is this a joke? The "energy efficient" "uses less water" machine they bragged about - we are now being told we should run 1 to 3 cleaning cycles, with special, expensive chemicals, EVERY month. EVERY MONTH for the life of the machine. I must do this in order to have clean laundry. Am I the only person who finds this absolutely insane??? I now have to take more effort and money every month to maintain my machine, then it actually took to do my laundry with my old machine.
If doing my laundry with an LG washer is going to take this much effort... I might as well drag my laundry down to the creek and scrub it on some rocks. That would actually be quicker and more cost effective and, work better!!! I have called customer service (a bunch of foreign speaking people) numerous times. This last time was the last straw. They do not care for your opinion. They speak to you as though you are the problem. When I explained to the guy that the entire area around my bleach cup has completely rusted - guess what - that's right - it is my fault, and no one else on the planet has had this problem.
I called knowing that my warranty is long gone but I told him I just wanted to give them feedback from a consumer about how I felt about their product. But, as you already know he doesn't care. He kept telling me to wash out my machine, and that I don't understand how to maintain my machine. I guess judging from the 100's of 1- star reviews, and similar complaints no one else on Earth knows how to do that either.
So here is the bottom line. I own a business cleaning resort units. I have dealt with every machine known to man. I have only ever seen one other machine as junkie as this. I will NEVER buy another LG washer. I will go back to old school, agitator... where my clothes are actually coming out clean, and I never, ever, ever had to wash my machine to keep my laundry coming out the way it is suppose to. PS - you will want to avoid the Whirlpool/Maytag (both the same company now) top loaders as well. They are just as big of a nightmare!!

Besides all the cabinet parts and pieces rusting, it appears that most, if not all the internal screws, nuts, and washer holding it together are also severely rusted and especially concerning, the arms that the tub hang on are well rusted and three of four mounting washers for these arms (they support the wash tub, liner, and motor) are so severely rusted that I expect the supports to fail any day. Years ago, I purchased matching LG Front Load Washing Machine (2233H) & Gas Dryer; cost approx. $2500. At first, my biggest issue was that the Dryer (largest capacity), could not/still cannot effectively tumble my California King sheets. As such, I still have to stop the cycle mid-way, untangle then fluff the sheets and restart the cycle! With my OLD top loading basic Whirlpool machine, I never had this problem. As for LG Washing Machine (2233H), after about a year, I developed serious and long-standing sinus issues but never thought of my washing machine being the source of the problem, until it began to smell funky and I did some online research. I found that this machine and other front loaders have issues with mold; however, I thought I was exempt from this since I always a) always keep the door open; b) frequently run the 'tub clean' option' and c) regularly clean the rubber rim!
One day, I was reading an article about children, who had been admitted to the same hospital and later died; it was proven that these already ill children were given linens with mold spores on them. With already comprised immune systems, the mold spores entered these children's sinus cavity then attacked their brains and, in turn, killed them! The laundry facility that was used by the hospital was found to have a mold problem!! So, I became more diligent with my washing machine. I took bleach and vinegar and tried to clean not just the rubber rim but further inside.
Tonight, I was also fed up with the fact that bleach and softener never dispense. So, I went online and found an article stating that this part might be 'clogged' and to take the dispenser drawer out then clean it. To my surprise, I found BLACK MOLD on the underside of the drawer as well as in the machine opening [where the drawer fits into]. It is so ingrained into the top underside of the opening that I can't get it off. I am now more alarmed about health issues that this washing machine Black Mold problem has been causing and might still be causing. So, I went online again and find that LG and other front load manufacturers have just settled class-action suits for this issue but not admitted any fault!!!!
LG never sent any notice to me and the deadline has just expired. Furthermore, the settlement to each machine owner is pathetic, especially, considering 1) initial cost of these machines and 2) replacement cost for a new machine [as you will never get rid of the black mold throughout the existing machine]. Government needs to protect consumers from big corporations abuse since attorneys of class actions are the only ones who benefit.
For this specific issue, people need to contact their local politicians to work on behalf of their constituents to get 'lemon laws' passed in respect to these defective machines, which manufacturers continued to produce and sell with full knowledge of the serious potential and probable health risks to consumers [adults, seniors, children] due to exposure to common black mold formation. Manufacturers of machine models found to have black mold should be mandated to replace each of these machines with top loaders of the consumer choice.

Washing clothes is an all day affair at times and I wash clothes by hand sometimes to avoid using this hated washer. When it becomes "off balance" it will drain the water out and refill again and again so any savings on low water usage are non-existent. I started a load at 6:00 am this morning and it should have taken 57 minutes. (It is now 7:45.) I purchased my LG washing machine 1 1/2 years ago. It is a model WT1101CW. It is constantly saying it's unbalanced and has rattled my bathroom floor apart. The tiles are now badly cracked. Not only that, but in the last several months it has developed an issue where it can't run for more than a minute or two at a time without giving me the UE (unbalanced) error code. I called the LG recall line after seeing that some similar LG machines have been recalled for the same issues, but was told that based on my machine's serial number, my machine isn't one of those recalled. I was then transferred to customer service who again told me to make sure that the machine is level. The machine is perfectly level. I have cleaned the tub often, and also tried unplugging it and pressing start and pause as LG's customer service department has also suggested.
I was also told by their customer service department that I could try adding a cycle option such as "add fabric softener" to increase the amount of water in the tub. Since it only has water in it during the "tub clean" cycle when it also gives an unbalance signal every few minutes, this isn't going to help. It also defeats the purpose of the machine being energy efficient. Today I have spent 9 1/2 hours so far doing a tub clean with just vinegar as they suggested. Every minute or two it gives me the unbalance error code and I have had to restart it. It still has water in it and hasn't finished. It is now 8:30 pm and I started it at 9 am this morning.
I just called LG's customer service department for the 6th time in the last few days and was told that since my 1 1/2 year old machine is out of warranty, it will cost a minimum of $299 for a service call! When I objected to the exorbitant price, the representative offered to let me pay with "three easy payments". I can buy a new machine for not much more than that. I am 60 years old and have to say that this is the WORST washing machine I have ever owned, and the WORST customer service I have ever received. Also, I believe this model machine needs to be recalled as well. There is definitely an issue with it, and I see from the other complaints on here that I am not the only one having problems with this model. WORST PRODUCT AND WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!

Unless you use the bulky setting, you get next to NO water in the tub. And the very WORST PART is that it has RUINED countless shirts, pants, and shorts. We bought a LG washer (top loading.) and dryer set at Best Buy, 20 June 2016. They looked like quality products, but we were very mistaken. The washer spends a lot of time load sensing, almost as much as washing. A lot of clicking going on, and the tub jiggles back and forth for a few minutes before the washing cycle starts. Even with "Extra Water," selected, it is barely enough to get the clothes thoroughly wet in the wash cycle. The clothes in the very middle of the tub never hardly move during the agitation, so they do not really get washed good. Then during this last week the washer goes from wash cycle to spin cycle. It forgets the rinse cycle. Also, we can only get hot water, never warm. For some reason the warm setting is always cold. It also takes a long time just to wash a load of clothes. The dryer will not dry our clothes completely, but we work around that problem, and we shouldn't have to.
We had a Kenmore washer and dryer set for thirteen years, and never had many problems. I worked as a product designer for many years, and our company had strict rules for testing and designing before any new product was introduced to the market. Guess they will go out of business if they had to honor their warranty for all the POS's they are unloading on the consumers. No customer service or ethics to this company. No stars for this company. Will never buy LG brands again!!!

LG WT1101CW Washing Machine. Don't Buy LG. Warranty Not Honored. I purchased an LG top loading washing machine a year and a half ago after my twenty-year-old Maytag machine made of steel with a solid lid that finally needed to be replaced. Within months of buying this machine, the plastic around the hinges of the lid began to crack and started to crumble at the hinges. The plastic is not holding up to the opening and closing of the lid on my unit. I had the lid and hinges replaced four times for the same problem. Once the plastic around the hinges starts to crack and disintegrate, the lid cannot close, and you cannot use the machine at all.
Customer service assured me after the fourth repair for the same problem that the unit would be replaced as defective. The plastic on the new lid after 5 months is starting to crack again, so I called and found out that my case was directed to the "Defective Return Team" and they rejected the claim. They told me it has been over a year since the purchase and it is now out of warranty.
I have been repairing this brand new machine within a few months of purchasing it. Home Depot says it's out of their hands, it's up to LG but LG has not adhered to their own policy that after three visits to repair the same problem, it is considered unrepairable and is considered to be a defective machine and will be replaced. They will now send a technician out for a fifth time for the same repair. It's not fixing the problem! The lid keeps cracking around the hinges on both sides. Poor quality, poor workmanship, cheap materials and they will not replace the machine, and now that it is out of warranty, they may not replace the lid when it cracks again and I will have a machine I cannot use that I paid almost $700 for. After experiencing this, I will never buy another LG product again.

LG Front Loader Washer Model: WM3170CW. Purchased this washer from Lowe's. After the first wash, the inside seal was giving off a smell. So paranoid about this, I made sure to wipe the inside door glass, seal after every wash. This unit leaves water in the soap tray after every wash, so I take out the tray and drain it and allow that to dry. I also have to get down and open the door with the drain tube. I drain out all the water that is - I guess - still inside the washer?! A lot of water comes out. This washer is a major pain. After continuing to do ALL of this after every use - my washer smells horribly musty and moldy. Totally unacceptable. I have put cleaning tablets in it - and even run bleach through it on the clean cycle. Still smells. This washer is a lemon. Do not purchase it. I deserve a new washer - but a different model! I expected this to be a good washer - being an LG. They used to have a good reputation. I paid $750.00 for this washer.

I have purchased an LG washer dryer model FH4U1JBH2N for £839.00, and I have received the appliance with a manufacturer defect. The washer dryer does not have the right control panel (no Drying option available on screen). No other option was offered apart from keeping the washer dryer and sending a technician to fix the defect. Imagine you purchase a cabrio car after checking the photos, the store and reviews. But you receive a regular family car... the manufacturer states that they can only come to you and cut the car open to transform it into a cabrio. In other word, you purchase a new machine, and it comes with a defect, and the manufacturer are not dependable for not meeting the specifications.
What sort of company is LG? Would you like to do business with a company that does not care of the consumer/customer? Feels like, that what they see are just numbers... making profit out of people who trust a brand. DO NOT PURCHASE AN LG PRODUCT unless you want to face poor customer care, poor after sales care, poor manners over the phone, poor quality of the product and most importantly 0 dependability. I had the washer-fake-dryer since the end of August 2016 and it's useless as it does not do the job I purchased it for. The retailer does not want to recollect the product as they state it is LG which has to approve the recollection. LG states it is not their issue.

Bought this machine in 2011 from Conn's. We never had a problem, but the only thing was where the bleach dispenser it started rusting and I would just clean it. I did buy warranty, but before it expired I called to tell them about the rust. Conn's said that is a manufacture problem, they only repair. So I didn't renew it. Now the tub makes horrible noise when washing rinsing. And clothes comes out soggy. I called LG yesterday, I thought maybe they could do the Smart Diagnostic and let me know what machine needs. They said if they did the diagnostic it would mess up the machine?? For them to send a Tech out it will cost $414 with one year maintenance or $302 for 60 day warranty. So disappointed, I might as well go buy a new one.

I purchased an LG washer and dryer from Home Depot about 18 months ago. I got their top model at the time top loading. After about 15 months I noticed the paint around bleach dispenser beginning to bubble up and so I removed the blue tray only to find machine has been rusting. I thought perhaps it's because when pouring bleach we sometimes get it between the plastic and machine. Then when looking under, I noticed the entire machine has massive rust buildup to where it's flaking and falling on the plastic edges of the drum.
After contacting LG about this issue they pretty much said I'm out of warranty and oh well. At the rate of the rust I'm guessing another 2 years and metal clips / screws will pretty much break during a spin cycle and nothing I can do about it except share this troubling issue to save someone else thousands of dollars on LG's poorly protected product against moisture. That 10 year warranty sticker is such a gimmick since these won't make it past 5 years with the crazy rust buildup. I did some research online and found that many other users have gone through the same frustration. I hope all the negative reviews will get LG to better insulate metal surfaces in their machines. Even my car comes with 10 year 100,000 mile warranty against rust yet washer has no rust warranty?

We purchased the LG Smart Drum thinking this was a great investment. It was the worst decision we made. It takes hours to wash one load. It constantly errors with UE no matter what load is in there. Even during the clean tub cycle where they recommend nothing in the washer. We have to constantly reload heavy wet clothes to rebalance eventually have to go directly to the spin cycle and shutting off the water just to get it over with. I am lucky to get two loads of laundry done in one whole damn day.
I can't get anything else accomplished because I am babysitting a damn washer. It has caused so much frustration among our entire family because no one can get their laundry done and over in a reasonable amount of time. I am going out this weekend and buying a new washer. It won't be a LG that's for sure. From all the other reviews it appears the washer is a lemon and LG knows it but they don't care. Also, the app they say you can get is not available either. They should be sued for falsely claiming things this washer can do and it doesn't. True balance my butt... this machine is the worst. Buyers beware. You will be sorry.

We bought a set about a year ago the LG washer inverter direct drive/true balance anti-vibration system with steam technology and the LG sensor dry with steam technology. I thought it might be too technical but it's easy to use and my water bill is 7 to 10 dollars a month cheaper and we use a 1/4 of the detergent that we did before. And the options are many and it plays a musical tune when it's done not a buzz that scares you and it large enough to do anything. I got the extended warranty because of the electronic board.
Only one problem was the washer is so deep my wife has to use grabbers to get the laundry out of the washer. I think this was money well spent on and I like that the door on the dryer can pull down or from the side, the washer has a glass top that's called diamond glass and a soap and softener dispenser. I did wish they had it in something more than white and I'm still learning thing about it like I can connect it to my phone to let me know when it's done but I really have to say that's pretty lazy. We bought an LG washer and dryer in March of 2014 from Lowe's. Fortunate for us, we bought the extended warranty. In that time until now both machines have been serviced by at least 5 different visits. The washer is the main culprit. It will not complete an entire wash cycle without errors or not washing them at all. The technicians who come and repair them stated these machines are the worst to repair. They really could not find a certain problem but continue to throw parts at them.
The dryer would not heat or dry clothes but seems to be doing better for now. The washer decided to give us a new code last night when it it began to quit yet again, "OE." Reading online this is an error with pump malfunction, kinked drain tube or filter. Now after checking tube and drain, neither is clogged, but now the washer will not drain and has foul smelling water in it. At this point we are done with these machines.
We are going to look for a new washer today, preferably with manual controls. We will keep the dryer until it breaks again, which is likely. These machines being a little over two years old should not be breaking down so often. I will not buy another, ever again, and warning others to do the same. The warranty is almost up and rather having to sit around all day on the appointment day waiting for a technician arrive, we will just take the loss and get another washer. We have had this machine for almost two years, but being very busy in our lives have never actually watched the machine go through a full wash cycle, until I did it just recently. I put an average load of clothes in it and started a "normal" cycle. A little later I looked in to see that the clothes were only about half-immersed in water during the "wash". Clearly, this was not good. I see that many people online have complained about this same problem. I find that the washer will only truly fill if the "Bulky/bedding" cycle is selected. Otherwise it simply will not put sufficient water in the tub for a proper wash. My fix to "fool" the machine is: start the load on "Bulky", wait till it fills to the desired level, pause, change to "normal" and proceed. This will not make the rinse cycle fill up, but if you happen to catch it you can do the same for rinse. Sort of makes a joke of this "high-tech automatic machine" doesn't it?

I have had to have a repairman out twice and the long and short of it is the transmission & electric board went at the tune of $533.00 for parts and labor. Um I paid $629 for the machine new. I called LG several times. The 1st few times they said there was nothing they could do. Wrong answer! So I called a 3rd time & they offered me an "extended warranty" on parts and labor for 1 year for that repair for $385.00. So they would charge me more than half of what I paid for it??? No thanks. There is no telling what else will go wrong with it.
It's a ripoff when you pay over $600 for a washing machine and it doesn't even LAST 4 YEARS. I read numerous complaints about LG like mine and worse. LG washing machine WT4870CW. What a piece of junk this machine is, $727.99 and less than two years old. This machine sometimes has a smell to it, take forever to do a load of wash and puts pulls in my clothing and now it leaks water out over the tub. (A computer problem with the amount of water being put into the machine.) When I originally took it apart to check where the water was coming from I was shocked at how cheap it was built. They advertise stainless steel DRUM but they don't tell you is the outside tub which holds the water is plastic, look like a big water cooler jug, you can see right thru it. They also make a big deal out of the ten year warranty on the direct drive motor because they know the machine won't last that long.
Called customer service for help with my problem, what a joke, had some guy with an accent reading from a book and so much noise in the background I could hardly hear him. He gave me the number for the local repair place in my area and told me I would have to pay for labor but the parts were free. I called them and nothing was free and they didn't even like working on them because they have problems getting parts, most times they have to order them for Korea and they take a very long time to get. In fact the company who repairs them doesn't even sell them because they have so many problems. (They don't like Samsung either, both made in the same country.)
I decided I wasn't putting more good money into a bad product so I'm just going to take my loss. I bought a new Speed Queen with an agitator and all manual controls, I don't need a computer operated washing machine, I have ten good fingers and can turn three dials, and hit one switch. (Top rated machine on the market, fewest repairs.) I will never buy anything made by LG again, I'm keeping my paper work on the old machine in case they ever have a class action suit against them. I hope everyone who has problems with this machine tells all their friends to stay away from LG.
