Waiting on repair for now 3 months. Refrigerator stopped cooling in May and is covered under warranty. Bought the appliance from Best Buy. That took 3 weeks for first tech to diagnose the problem but they couldn't work on it. Called LG and Customer service not helpful at all in trying to expedite the service call. Once part gets here then we have to schedule the appointment. So now looking at probably 4 months without a refrigerator or freezer. Will never recommend or buy another LG product.

I have never known that it is possible to make a refrigerator that is so bad and literally a piece of junk!.. If you want a refrigerator to make ice, for you, don't even think about buying this refrigerator! I have never seen such a small icemaker and taking so long to make ice! A family of two it will not keep up!... Within the first three months, I got a code that the fans were bad and it wasn't not cooling. I called up LG and get somebody overseas that has trouble speaking English and trying to oversee this! I was told that I should unplug it and plug it back in and it should be OK. Anyway, you know that it would not help it. Then they told me to unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours and let it defrost as if you had an extra refrigerator to put the food in!

Needless to say that did not and I did not do that...anyway they finally Call a repair service which called me and I gave them the code on the door and they say this happens all the time your fans are bad and they all know this! Then it ended up They had to call LG and order the fans because they won't let them keep them on hand, even though they know this is a major problem... Anyway, they did put the fans in and that's been OK .... Besides the icemaker, not Making ice it is so slow then the thing jammed up and would not release Any ice. After about 45 minutes on the telephone, they finally realized There is a reset switch in there that's not marked and hard to find! That did release the ice!... Anyway, I've had three problems and just a little over a year!

LG Linear Compressor died after five years. LG support said they would send a request to the one repair company and I’d only have to pay a flat fee of $354 as it's out of warranty; however, falls under the 10 year warranty for the compressor. Was told to be patient and wait. Two weeks later I call and they said the repair company wouldn’t accept the flat out of warranty rate. This was known ages ago and LG does not follow up or inform you of this. Then sent me to a different repair company an hour away, but you do all the work yourself anyway so no point even going through them. Waste of $2000.

Bought an LG French door fridge in 2020. Model #LRMNC1803S. Was told at time of purchase that LG learned from their mistake re class action lawsuit against them for installing faulty compressor in the refrigerators. Was told they are the best refrigerator now. Well… 4 years after paying $2000 for what is supposed to be a top product the fridge stays at 50 degs and the freezer can’t freeze water in ice cube trays. My extended warranty got in touch with LG who will replace the compressor…not the labour of about $500…. My extended warranty says they will cover the labour costs.

4 year old fridge…just a big brick sitting in my kitchen. Will the new compressor warranty start over again? Am I expected to pay $500 every 4 years or less for faulty product? Very disappointed. It will be very unlikely I will ever purchase another LG refrigerator if this is their quality. I have other LG products…washer, dryer, a/c….I am now doubting myself for putting my trust …and money…. into their products.

Bought an LG Sept 2023. Here we are August 2024. 11 months and we have major issues with this lemon. Have received error messages several time since purchase. Customer service says unplug it for 30 seconds. Error messages goes away for a while. Now fan started getting louder and louder, stopped working. Unit now makes grinding and growling sounds. LG service contacted on 7/30/24. Was told we would hear from someone within 24 hours. 24 hours later, received a text stating we would hear from someone within 24 hours. So now it is Thursday. Called customer service again. Told they were having a hard time locating a certified tech to come out. The population in my town is over 300,000 people, we do not live in the boondocks. Friday still nothing. Contacted them again, told they had expedited the request, and we should hear from someone in 3-5 days. Unbelievable, worst customer service ever.

I had this LG model LG LMXS30776 refrigerator for 8 years. During this period icemaker was changed 3 times. The linear compressor broke down, apparently there was a class action suit for compressor and they sent me new one but I had to pay the labor at a tune of $900. Then the plastic on the walls started cracking. They became so bad that the cold air sent to freezer and the icemaker was escaping into the refrigerator. So Icemaker stopped working again. I had to place duct tape on each crack to have a semi working refrigerator. Finally I returned it today.

I bought a LG Refrigerator on August 22, 2022. The last few weeks it has been displaying a code FFE and I cannot get ice or water from it. I call LG and they told me my warranty is up with them, so I have to call the company that I bought the extended warranty from. I called Best Electronics who is my warranty company. They came out yesterday and the person that they sent was useless. He pulled the refrigerator out unplugged it then plugged it back in and claimed he reset it. He also told I have to buy a surge protector or adapter and plug it in the outlet then plug the refrigerator. He claimed it is constantly running and it get hot and chip out. I said to him a refrigerator supposed to run constantly that is the purpose of it. He was in such a rush he did not even care to write up a report. He told me he saw about 7 customers with the same problem. So I guess this is a manufacturer problem, but LG is not doing anything to help customers like myself.

I paid $3,500 plus I bought 5 years warranty and still cannot get proper service. BUYERS BEWARE. Today I came home from work and it is displaying the same code again. I'm going to try and find out how I can escalate this to the higher ups. I refused to settle for this. Somebody need to check LG. I bought this fridge from Lowes and this Best Electronics is their warranty company that they provide me with. I have called them all, and got no help. They were quick to take my money, but now when I need them they turn their back on me. I would never buy LG products again.

Now at 9 years we have a freon leak and tech has told us it might or might not be repairable. He indicated that his experience with LG is about ten years and then have to replace. Very happy with all items and with the quick fix of the dishwasher’s main board. The refrigerator was great for 5 years and then the compressor failed. Unfortunately I purchased another LG refrigerator thinking it was a fluke. This one lasted 11 months. But this time after 3 weeks of chat communication and waiting I was finally told they could not find anyone to service the unit which was under warranty. We live 3-4 hours away from service centers. I have never left a review for an appliance before, but my experience with my LG refrigerator has been so horrible, I feel compelled to. My ice maker and freezer went out on my 3 1/2 year old refrigerator in June. After waiting a week for the scheduled appointment, the contractor never showed. When I contacted them, I was told that they had an emergency and had cancelled. Unfortunately, they never bothered to tell me so I had already waited at home throughout the entire five hour slot. Finally received a technician a few days later. He replaced both my compressor and ice maker.

Four weeks later my refrigerator went out again. I called customer service on a Saturday and was scheduled for repair on the following Friday. On Thursday I text the contractor to confirm my appointment. Nope. Not only can they not come tomorrow, but they are booked through next week as well. This is terrible customer service and obviously a lousy product as well as their customer service and support center. I will NEVER, EVER purchase ANYTHING LG ever again. Don’t waste your money on an LG refrigerator. I bought a brand new fridge and within one year the compressor went out. LG did come and fix it at no cost however we are now just over the 5 year mark and the compressor has gone out again. I scheduled service for a Thursday with LG which they make you prepay over $500.00 for. The technician was at my house for literally 21 minutes. He replaced the compressor and said to give it 8-12 hours to cool the fridge. I got up the next morning which was Friday and the fridge temp was 75° even though it was set at 34°.

I called the service company and was told that he ran diagnostics after the service and nothing showed up. I also asked them to come back out to get it working again and they cannot come till the following Tuesday. That’s an additional 5 days without a refrigerator. This has not been a pleasant experience and I've got 2 more days before they come back. LG has known about these compressor issues for years and there are multiple lawsuits as a result yet still they use the same compressor in their product.

LG gets 1 star for building a piece of crap that initially looks ok to the consumer but has absolutely no backbone in terms of warranty coverage. My story is like others, bought an LG Refrigerator (Model LFXS26596S-01) on 8/20/2019. Delivered and put into service 8/22/2019. At roughly 2-years into service it quit making ice in the freezer. Not a big problem for us but truthfully the unit should last much longer. What really changed my feelings about this company and its appliance was when at 4-yrs 10-months of age it began to show a problem with proper cooling (ice cream melting, frozen items soft, etc.) and a request for service was made via LG.com portal.

What most frustrated me is discovering that LG had settled a class action suit 2-3 years prior, the suit related to defective sealed system/compressor, that LG continued to sell thus defective design post settlement and in the process of attempting to obtain warranty service LG absolutely gave me a complete run around with respect to my described issue, knowing it was the byproduct of the defective sealed system/compressor as evidenced by their text to my phone produced by onboard diagnostics and suggesting problem with that component. Instead of servicing my fridge, LG wasted hours of my time troubleshooting the fridge and arising from having no authorized service providers in my local (city of 400,000 population) willing to perform contract work for LG, ultimately failed to honor the labor component of its warranty.

Sometimes I learn the hard way with my own experiences and I’m able to help keep my clients from going through the same. My LG refrigerator is less than 10 years old, but they only warranty it for five years, except the condenser, which is 10 years. It’s a one unit piece so even when something else that is part of the condenser or main unit, they don’t cover that.

I had an appliance company that I had a maintenance contract with Tell me that my refrigerator was not repairable and LG should buy me a new one because it was a one unit piece. LG Sent out a repairman and he said it was a coil that was part of the condenser but still LG said they didn’t cover it so I paid for him to fix the icemaker and replace the coil. I lost over $1000 of food and paid him $700 plus in repairs. It didn’t work LG sent out another guy who told me what my guy had said. To begin with that it was unfixable and the LG should replace it for me, but they wouldn’t. The first guy that they sent out, didn’t give me a receipt of what I paid! So now it’s been going on and on to try to get that money back so that I can buy a new refrigerator which definitely won’t be an LG!

We bought an LG model LF30S8210S.ASTCNA0, serial #308KRKSL3797 from Costco at the beginning of the year (six months ago). The unit was fine in the beginning but would shut itself off occasionally. That began within a month of buying the unit. I'd check the breaker and it was fine. I'd unplugged the fridge and plugged it back in and it would work. The fridge self powering down was happening more and more. Then one day it began to blow the breaker. I followed the instructions of the LG people and noted you could hear a sizzling sound from the plug when it was plugged in. That began in month three of ownership.

I called for service. Service number one happened and the guy told me it was my outlet. We called our electrician and they checked the wiring. This is a dedicated refrigerator circuit put in by these guys, one of the top electrical companies in our area. The electricians changed out the breaker and outlet at my request (and my cost). Result, the sizzling was still there and the circuit would blow. Service number. I received a board at my house and the LG techs showed up to replace it. They went through a litany of tests and called a senior tech at LG during the service call. It was on speaker phone and I could hear the whole thing. They couldn't figure it out and told me it was the electrical system in my building. I called the electricians back and they have no idea what LG is talking about. Everything looks and tests out perfectly.

At this point the fridge doesn't respond at all even with the new board and LG is insisting it's my building's fault. I'm in the middle of round three and I'm getting texts requesting all the information they already have. This is a run a round and it gotten old. The issue is LG has clearly put in a crap power supply but is trying to blame me for their failed product engineering. At this point I don't know if I'm just stuck with this boat anchor and out the money or what but it's been a very negative experience for my family and myself. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM LG. I also recommend dumping Costco, they no longer stand behind what they sell.

I bought an LG Double Door Refrigerator back on 9/15/2016 from Best Buy. Three years into my warranty the compressor failed and a replacement was done. Five years later my compressor has failed again. Now, I am outside of my warranty from Best Buy, but I still have the ten year manufacturer’s warranty. So I contacted LG to have it replaced with the understanding that I would have to pay the cost for the labor. To my surprise the labor cost to make the repair is almost $500, which is absurd! They are adding other parts and the cost of a diagnostic test which has already been done by Best Buy. Also, it is about the same cost of the compressor.

After telling them the diagnostic has already been done by Best Buy, I was told it didn’t matter and that it is a set price. Best Buy only charges $149.99 for the labor cost to replace the compressors in their other brands, but unfortunately, the LG Compressors have to be done by an LG Authorized Repair Service, which by the way, charges the same cost because of LG. If this is the kind of service that LG provides, I won’t be buying another LG product.

I called Customer Service and complained that I had been l using an igloo for my refrigerated items and I needed to have someone come as soon as possible. I could not wait till Saturday as it is. I already took off work on the day I was scheduled I had physical therapy. I canceled that for another day I had a long time dermatology appointment that was needed that had to be rescheduled after waiting two weeks for that appointment now just because he has unforeseen circumstances I have to do an appointment on Saturday which I also had prior engagements.. I was furious.

The customer service representative tried to schedule me with the authorized representative here in Las Vegas, and they gave me the name of Mr. Appliance and said they would be emailing them paperwork to fill out so that they could come and repair my refrigerator the next day I called and they said they had done the emailing and hadn’t heard back from Mr. appliance.. I was told to contact Mr. Appliance and ask them to hurry up and fill out the paperwork so that this could get on schedule however, they told me they never received any email from LG nor do they do any warranty work and the LG would need to contact them.

When I called back to LG again, I’m speaking to somebody else they know nothing about this. They said they do not call Mr. appliance that Mr. appliance needs to call them so again I called Mr. appliance and relayed that message, and when they said they do not call I had to call back LG again speak to another person.! At this point, I am ready to have a nervous breakdown because nothing had been done nor does anyone know anything. Save yourself time and angered issues and loss. never buy anything made by LG. They do not stand behind their product. They do not follow up with repairs. They do nothing and take blame for nothing nor apologize for being so stupid and reckless.

They said I can use a local technician and LG can give the parts to them too, but they wouldn't give me the parts directly, which was fine. One problem though - No local tech would work on it! We purchased our French door LG refrigerator (LFDS225020S) 10 months ago. The linear compressor went out 3 weeks ago and has been deemed unrepairable. We were unaware that this is a common problem with LG refrigerators (there was actually a lawsuit brought against LG that settled in 2020, and another suit is currently pending due to fraud). We have been without a refrigerator for the last 3 weeks and have been getting the run around from LG. First they lost my repair request, so we had to start over. We've talked to a different rep everytime we call and get a different answer and promise that the next rep nullifies. When the servicer indicated the unit was not repairable (and had been here twice already), LG wanted them to return to try something different, which included cutting open the refrigerator. I was told if the servicer could not return by day 16 (04/03/2024), they would refund the cost of the refrigerator.

I also learned today that they have yet to contact the servicer to inform them of this next step. Today when I called LG, our case was escalated to the LG Presidential Liaison who said she will call me back on Friday after she receives a copy of my receipt from the store where we bought the unit. Dealing with LG customer service has been a nightmare. Their communication is extremely poor (even with the servicer). They do not follow up on promises made, and they are unyielding related to the hoops they want you to jump through. If you insist on purchasing this refrigerator, please do thorough research. LG continues to sell these refrigerators knowing full well that the linear compressor will most likely fail (that's what the second lawsuit is claiming). Save your time, money, food and patience ... Go with a different brand. FYI, Kenmore has the same compressor problems as LG makes Kenmores.

Was a big fan of LG, so all my home appliances were from them, but recently, around 5 years into ownership, both my fridge and dishwasher failed and needed to be fixed by a technician. Thank goodness I was still in LG's flat price program, as the technicians came in total 3 times, twice to fix the fridge and once to fix the motor of the dishwasher. Another complaint that I realized during this process is that, even if LG gives you that 10 year warranty on the direct drive motor or what not during marketing, you won't know what is wrong until a technician is called. So even if it was under warranty, you would logically just pay the flat fee because you have no idea if it's the part that is under warranty that is causing you issues and they don't reimburse you afterwards when they find out it is indeed because of the part under warranty.

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the substandard quality of the LG refrigerator I purchased less than a year ago, as well as the appalling level of customer service I have experienced throughout this ordeal. LG refrigerator malfunctioned within a year of purchase, leaving me without essential refrigeration for perishable goods. Upon contacting LG customer service, I was advised to defrost the refrigerator for eight hours as a potential solution to the issue. Despite adhering to this instruction meticulously, the refrigerator remained inoperable.

Following my subsequent contact with customer service, a technician was dispatched to assess the problem. Upon inspection, the technician confirmed that the fan was indeed broken. While I appreciate the technician's prompt attention to the issue, the repair was not completed until the following day, resulting in a total downtime of four days.

The inconvenience and financial losses incurred during this period were exacerbated by the dismissive and unsympathetic response I received when seeking compensation for the food items I had to discard due to the refrigerator malfunction. When I contacted customer service to request a rebate for the spoiled food, I was met with incredulity and resistance. The representative even went as far as to question whether I had a spare refrigerator in my household, implying that I should have been prepared for such an eventuality.

Furthermore, the customer service representative attempted to diminish my valid claim for compensation by arguing that the repair was completed within three days and therefore, I was not entitled to reimbursement for food spoilage. This arbitrary and illogical reasoning is entirely unacceptable. It is evident that the refrigerator malfunction caused significant inconvenience and financial loss, regardless of the precise duration of the repair process. The lack of accountability and empathy demonstrated by LG's customer service team is unacceptable and does not align with the standards of customer care expected from a reputable company.

A 2014 LG double-door refrigerator with water/ice dispenser in the door was professionally moved from one house to another. While the appliance company movers were installing the fridge, something went amiss with the water line. A leak was noticed and they said that it would be no problem to order just a new water line to make the repair. On the repeat visit, the technician was unable to thread the waterline through the door, saying that LG fridge doors have some kind of foam insulation in them that makes it impossible to just replace a water line, but now an entire door was needed (part cost at $650).

So, we gave the go-ahead for the appliance company to order the part. When they came to install, they had the WRONG part! They had a door from LG, but there were no 'guts' inside it! The manager of the appliance company had to do some detective work to figure out who was responsible for ordering the wrong part. It appears that it was LG. That's when they informed us that the part was 'on backorder' at the factory, with an estimated delivery time of about 4 to 8 weeks.

We were surprised to learn that the door arrived in less than 8 weeks, and asked the appliance company to examine the door BEFORE they come out to install. We are sure glad that we made that request! LG sent the WRONG door again! Again it was another door WITHOUT all the working parts inside! The manager at the appliance company has tried to interest us in buying a similar model used LG fridge, because it sounds like they may have concern as to whether they will even succeed at receiving the proper part to make the repair! Refrigerators should last better than a measly 9-1/2 years (the waterline busted in 2023) and something so simple as a waterline should be able to be replaced WITHOUT needing an an entire door! I HAVE ZERO CONFIDENCE IN LG PRODUCTS over this experience.

Since this company had so many problems with cooling and compress over the years and failing to honor warranties only offering 15% toward their new refrigerator is not acceptable. I paid over $2300.00 and almost ten years later I have a broken appliance. I am 81 years old on fixed income and I DO NOT have the money for a new one. I am very disappointed in the quality of service I received; I was transferred to numerous representatives from the USA to the Philippines without any sensible resolution. I don't believe that their compressor problems will ever be solved. and customer service could care less and that doesn't say much about the company's reputation. I feel I have been cheated by LG the company!!!!

With so many complaints about the exact same issues, it is shocking that they have not addressed and fixed those issues prior to selling the appliances, or that they don't do something immediately when people put in for a service request. They should know their "quick fix" solutions for the consumer do not work.

I bought an LG fridge in 2016 that failed. I foolishly bought another LG to replace it 2021 and it too has failed. The 2021 purchase was under warranty so after 4 visits to repair it, LG agreed to replace it. The four repair events took place over many months and none of the repairs lasted. I was given the choice of a refund or credits toward another LG. This process was tedious and convoluted involving much waiting on hold for very long periods of time. In fact, this process was more than 3 weeks long and as of this writing is still ongoing.

The credits toward a new LG they offered were of what appeared to be of greater value than the refund. They also made the credits option seem to be much easier and faster than the refund. I should add that the credits option required that I use the LG online store. For these reasons I foolishly opted to buy another LG from the online store.

After selecting the model fridge that I wanted I was given a delivery date, no time or window just a date. Guess what, no fridge! I called their support team and was told that the date had been changed to 4 days later. I received no call no email no nothing. If I had not contacted them no one would have told me that the fridge was to come 4 days late. LG did not take responsibility for this but blamed their contract delivery service.

I contacted their delivery service and they blamed LG telling me that the fridge had not been made available to them to deliver. You can guess who I blame. The whole process belongs to LG and LG alone. As of this writing, I am still not in receipt of my fridge In sum, I am full of self-loathing for having anything to do with LG. I will never buy another LG product of any kind.

I called both companies and they both said that they no longer service LG products because LG doesn't pay them for the parts that they agree to cover under warranty. I called back LG and was told I had to wait a week for in house tech. The Customer service rep was rude and sarcastic in tone. I will never buy another LG product of any kind. We were told that a repair person would not be available until Monday, October 2, 2023. We were without the use of our refrigerator for 5 days. All of our food in the refrigerator and freezer had to been discarded. The compressor was replaced on Monday. It seems as this is a regular occurrence with LG that the compressor does not last. The LG approved Maintenance Company MGR Appliances promptly diagnosed the problem as a failed Compressor but they could not fix the problem until they did some preventive maintenance which would cost $150 and involved vacuuming some fuzz in the rear of the unit...which is an area we vacuum every 6-9 months. The manual makes no reference to this. Both Home Depot and LG sees this as an acceptable practice. Be aware that a maintenance contract is worthless unless you challenge it Legally. It malfunctioned right after purchase, and I've had to deal with an absolute circus of technicians visiting my home repeatedly, shoving various replacement parts into my fridge, all to no avail!

And now, to make matters worse, I've just been told that I need to wait until September 11th for another technician to come out. This is utterly unacceptable! I've already endured weeks of this nightmare, and I refuse to wait any longer. To top it all off, I was informed that "there is a high chance a refund may not be approved." Are you kidding me? After all the trouble and inconvenience I've been through, you're telling me a refund might not be approved? This is beyond infuriating!

I demand a full refund immediately! My trust in LG products has been utterly obliterated, and I'm seriously contemplating never buying anything from LG ever again. I don't want excuses; I want action! I expect an immediate response and a resolution that can somewhat make up for this infuriating nightmare that LG has subjected me to. Please refund me. If I read the reviews on this page, I may have a different opinion today but I didn’t. I bought a house in 2022 with a French door refrigerator of 2020. The fridge broke down six weeks ago. I invited a local shop to repair, they informed me that the compressor was bad and that no technician was available in the area to fix a new one even if I decided to get a new compressor, as LG recently changed their technology. A day after, LG contacted me and asked me to purchase another one and send the bill of lading along with the sticker of the old fridge. They would pay me $743 and also take away the old fridge. It took me a while to decide but I finally agreed to that proposal.

Two weeks after their confirmation the fridge is still in my garage and they have not dispatched the cheque. The last conversation I had with LG, they said that I should expect the cheque within 6-8 weeks (within Canada?). No date as to when the fridge will move out of my garage. I regret accepting that deal. I would have tried another product after my encounter with the local technician. Avoid LG fridge for now. Both product and customer service are below average.

The Fridge purchased Feb 2015 came with a 10 year warranty on the compressor parts. 1 Jun 2023 Initial call about the fridge and freezer not cooling was a clear compressor issue. We were told they will get back to us within 8 days (but since it is a fridge put a urgency on it) if they have service for our location. If they don't have a service person they would have a great offer instead of repair.

We called after 6 days to see if there is some one coming out. Answer was that our claim was denied since the fridge was close to 10 years old and out of warranty and there is no service in our area. Their offer was to bring it to a service station 1 1/2 hrs. drive to get repaired and they would pay for parts or they credit us 10% towards a new fridge.

    Warranty:
    - They did not call use, we had to call them.
    - They did deny warranty flat fee rate due to the location we live even so we would have to bring the fridge to their service location. (Not just did not offer service in our area but also denied an offer we would be entitled to if we live in a service area they come to our house).

    - Offered 10% towards a LG fridge only where as there is still 2 years warranty out of 10 year left. By my calculations this would mean min. 20% paid out would be the minimum for the 20 years.

In my opinion: it is hard to purchase a fridge in stock to get what we need and it might not be possible to get an LG. 10% is a poor offer and it should be on replacement cost and 8 years out of 10 means 20%.

I am super mad that LOWE'S obviously knows they are selling bad appliances because they stopped taking returns in March 2023. You have to have it back in store in 48 hours or NO REFUND! It was a weekend after I purchased it and I did not contact them until the following Tuesday to discuss returning the broken fridge. THEY HAVE to know they are selling bad products. Why else would they say NO to a refund of a brand new appliance? LG has sent repair man out 2x. New compressor didn't fix it so he is now going to replace the motherboard and condenser because I requested a buyout from LG and they won't give me my money back until there have been two repairs on the same part.

I guess they just replace all the parts to force you to keep it longer even though it don't work, Lowe's gets to keep interest on my money and I have NO fridge at all. This model has a 2% failure...I would guess it's much higher, but the repairman said this model has known issues in 2% of them. Not only am I out that money sitting in Lowe's bank account, but I have had to miss 2 full days of work for repairs and it is still waiting for more days of repairs to come. I called lg customer service and was told the refrigerator stopped making ice because it needed a software update. There is nothing in the manual stating this might be the issue, nor did I receive any notification from lg that this was a mandatory update to keep the refrigerator running properly. One week later, craft ice is working but ice machine in door is not working. Again, nothing in the manual or lg website for troubleshooting this issue.

Called lg customer service and was told to unplug the refrigerator for 10 seconds then replug. Craft ice is working, ice indoor is making ice but not dispensing. When I press the reset button, the ice tray empties and fills with water. Nothing is caked with ice and the sensor arm works effortlessly. Called lg this morning and was told they have no way of knowing what is wrong and that I will have to coordinate with an lg service representative to come out and figure out what is wrong. Of course this $4,000 refrigerator is 18 months old so there is no warranty and all costs (which they could not provide) will be my responsibility. The customer service guy, ken, was rude, condescending and of no help at all, only to inform me that it was my problem. So disappointed, and felt extremely disrespected. Horrible experience.

Refrigerators arrived on or about Feb 15th 2023 but the optional ice makers were backed ordered.. Ice makers arrive 1st April and installed as accordance to LG instructions. Instructions state it sometimes takes 24 to 48 hours to make ice. After 72 hours no ice. Go back to retail we purchased from to inform and they sent technicians to investigate. They were unable to resolve the issue. Next step LG sends their authorized technician and his conclusion was the the plug and play wire harness was defective and that no current was feeding the servo that supplied water to the ice maker.

I personally have spent over 10 hours of my time, multiple trips back to the retailer and logged more than 11 phone calls to LG attempting without success to get someone of authority at LG to resolve our issues. As of today’s date I am still waiting. Customer service is a crap shoot. NO IT'S NOT! Again, I didn't have this problem with Samsung or Frigidaire. It's LG's awful product! Don't by LG refrigerators customers. It's possible that this water can do something to your health. I feel, the wrong compressor was installed where new problems surfaced after replacement of compressor. I would not recommend LG refrigerator to anyone. This refrigerator should have been recalled due to compressor issues and not adequate keeping normal refrigerator temperatures.

After only 9 months of use we cut our losses and got rid of our new LG refrigerator (model # LMWC23626S). The reasons are twofold: poor product performance and even worse aftermarket service. Due to pandemic supply issues the appliance was ordered in November 2020 and delivered late January 2021. This was a proactive approach for a home we were building. The refrigerator was securely stored in its shipping box till its installation in March 2022 (home construction was delayed due to the pandemic). Within a month the fridge stopped working, registering a “FF” (freezer fan) error code. Rebooting the appliance only led to a repeat of the same error code.

We were able to contact a LG warranty technician after a lengthy navigation through their automated customer service phone system. He spent a short time trying to figure out the problem and said we needed a service visit. We were then notified that the appliance was no longer under warranty. After discussion we were awarded a 1 month “courtesy” warranty. An in home service visit was scheduled for 7 days through LG’s contracted service and repair company. They were a no show on the scheduled day. We later learned that the technician noted that no one was home, even though we spent the allotted service window (8AM-5PM) at home.

The next “earliest available” appointment was 5 weeks out. By that time we had to purchase a “rescue” fridge. The night before the appointment we plugged the fridge back in and the error code did not reappear. The next day the technician said the fridge was working fine but did no diagnostic testing (other than looking at the display) nor took any temperature readings of either the fridge or freezer compartments.

Two months later we came to the conclusion that the fridge was not cooling. Even on the lowest settings (fridge 32, freezer -7) the fridge would not go below 40 and the freezer below 20. Since we were now out of warranty and did not want to wait 5 weeks for a repair we contacted an independent appliance repairman. He diagnosed a faulty evaporator fan. He ordered an OEM fan but this took 12 weeks (the first LG fan delivered was defective). Following this repair we still did not have a fridge that would cool even close to specs and decided to replace it with a model from another brand.

We cannot recommend an LG refrigerator. First the product was defective out of the box but navigating the byzantine LG customer service was both time consuming, frustrating and disappointing. Second, LG contracts repairs through a Sears subsidiary (A&E Factory Service) for which they have only one technician in SW Virginia. He awarded us only a cursory, incomplete and subpar visit. Also it is virtually impossible to talk with a live person and we were at the mercy of an incomplete automated system that provided misleading information.

My refrigerator is less than 5 years old and 8 months ago, my refrigerator and freezer both failed. The LG certified technician said the compressor, evaporator, and filter/drier needed to be replaced. He told me that there had been a Chinese made compressor that was widespread failing in many of their refrigerators. The repair was done on March 16, 2022. LG refused to cover my food losses, saying the 5 days my refrigerator was down shouldn't have resulted in lost food. On November 27, 2022 both freezer and and refrigerator have failed again, and the soonest the repair service call could be scheduled was for tomorrow November 30th. I never had a refrigerator stop working ever and I'm currently in my 60s... LG was represented as a reliable brand, and I hope we can all get the word out on what is happening.

Our brand new refrigerator came with a factory defect and trying to get LG to repair or replace it has been a frustrating and time consuming effort. Their solution - give me a refund, take my refrigerator and the be without a refrigerator for 3-6 weeks while we wait for another refrigerator to be delivered. REALLY? Be without a refrigerator for weeks is their solution? Bottom line - they got our money and they do not care whether we have a product that is 100% functional. 2015 fridge stopped cooling and found 10 year parts warranty still applicable, YAY. However no labor is covered. This is an inline compressor - not something one fixes themselves and the labor cost is 1/3 the cost of new fridge. I called LG and asked for anyone who could offer a rebate, discount or other compensatory incentive to alleviate the painful labor cost. NOTHING not a coupon, discount, nothing. I had already purchased a new LG fridge and out of desperation, I took what was in stock (so many places make you order and do not have stock).

The new LG fridge was very similar to old fridge with door-in door, 2 icemakers etc. But I soon found many sad differences. 1. The door-in-door space is smaller 2. Craft icemaker in the bottom freezer (at 6 balls of ice in 24 hrs, why not put the craft icemaker in the smaller door space - I loved my 5lb of ice in the bottom freezer and now it is just wasted space with 6 balls of ice). BTW - craft ice maker stopped working in 90 days. 3. The shelf configuration is limited. My old LG had a better variety of configuration options.

The Positive is the large middle-flex drawer, but honestly, the old fridge had a similar drawer (large enough to hold a pizza) it just didn't have the flex freezer/fridge capability. I am debating paying for the labor to fix the old fridge because I loved the utility of it- particularly the 2 icemakers. So disappointed with the new fridge. Buyer be wary. For those with >5 year fridge, there is a parts warranty for 7 years and compressors for 10 years, FYI it is in the manual and is covered for parts only. :)

I have one of the refrigerators with the know compressor issue, purchased less than 5 years ago. It went out at least 2 weeks ago (I wasn't home). I called LG for service 2 weeks ago. 1 week went by and I hadn't heard back so I called again. At first I was told that a repair person was scheduled to come out that day, I was confused because no one had contacted me to schedule. I was then told that was a mistake, they'd sent the request to the field service dept and it had been sent back to LG due to no technicians available.

Someone dropped the ball and didn't contact me. I stated that if repair could not be scheduled, I needed a replacement. I was assured the issue was being escalated and if the repair couldn't be done in the policy window of 15 day a replacement was an option. Several calls, emails, text messages of scheduling, canceling and rescheduling I'm told that LG no longer offers replacement but only a retroactive payment depending on the age of the fridge. Finally, I have an appointment scheduled but it's outside of the 15 day window and At this point I learn that the 15 day window is fluid, depending on the inability of LG to schedule a tech, it could be 30 days! From someone in the Vice-presidents office, the policy changed 2 weeks ago, being the day I initially called.

How is it ethical to sell someone a product with stated warranty information, have lawsuits for the same known failure and when someone raises the issue the policies are changed to suit the company's needs? Shouldn't new policies and warranty changes be applied to newly purchased items? I've lost between $500-$600 in groceries, frozen meat and medication, as well as spending another $15-$25 dining out and trying to keep medications (human and pet) on ice, for over 2 weeks.

I'm already out an average of $830 and may or may not actually have my warranty repair done in 2 days, as currently scheduled on a known faulty compressor. I know you see a ton of bad reviews because people are angry for one reason or another but PLEASE escalated issues such as this. A warranty is supposed to be legally binding, as published on date of purchase. Not some "fluid" policy that is constantly altered to fit the needs of a company that cannot figure out how to properly address their known shortcomings.

TL;DR: LG is in several class action law suits over the same issue. Reviews posted with 5 star reviews are misleading and paint a rosy picture of the first 6-12 months. The compressors give out and it is a ** to get someone to repair a LG refrigerator. After two years, I came home to a puddle on the bottom of my LG fridge. I called a handyman who immediately pointed me to LG since it was a fairly new fridge to have compressor issues.

I call LG and right away they say they will send someone out. The first company never shows, and LG makes me wait and wait and wait. It's two weeks before they start escalating the case. At this point they send out another service tech out who keeps saying to me "due to emergency" they won't be making it after all. LG now says that nothing they can do. Lg says they have to wait certain amount of time before they even consider just replacing the dud refrigerator. At this point I've taken several days off work waiting for a tech to show up (BTW these LG certified techs that they are sending do not answer calls for some reason).

On the 4th week LG changes the repair company again. This time someone shows up after hours on hold begging for service. The tech advises that it might be my house's power and not actually the refrigerator (it wasn't). They order parts... more waiting. The part arrives and must wait even longer for them to have time to install. When they finally change the board... it's not the board at all. Tech says LG will have the choice to rebuild or replace and that the latter is cheaper and more likely. Already beyond frustrated and eating out of a cooler for weeks I keep being patient. LG finally decides that they will not replace the unit and rather they will rebuild... so now we have to wait for all the parts and start the waiting again. On the 7th weeks everything is set up tech finally shows up and hours later we have refrigeration.

I believe that hundreds of dollars on lost food and the stress of being in this situation is not worth it and will never buy LG again. This won't affect them, plenty of people still shop there, But if someone is here looking for pros and cons, this is it. These refrigerators are not built to last, LG does not care that they cause harm to their clients. They rather make you lose your mind in frustration than simply replace an item that they know is busted. See it's not just me, there is a whole class action lawsuit (more than one according to the tech) over compressor issues for refrigerators that do not work. TL;DR LG REFRIGERATOR WILL LAST TWO YEARS OR LESS, AVOID IF POSSIBLE.

There is no update on our complaint, and they are saying that this issue will take approximately 3-4 more weeks. They are telling us not to call them.. They are treating us badly.. August 21, 2021 our son bought ($1,750), a LG door-in-door refrigerator, for us, in Home Depot. A few months, in March 2022, the refrigerator stop cooling. We contacted the LG service and a one weak later technician come and change a compressor. Three month later, in June 2022, the refrigerator made quiet noise, for a few days, and then we noticed that cooling in the freezer is very weak.

June 24, 2022, we again contacted the LG service to find out that our model was manufactured in 2014. Based on this we practically did not have the warranty. I have demanded to send my complaint to a specific department. So the representative did. I am waiting for the LG respond for mine complaint. How it is possible that manufactured item in 2014 has been place for selling in 2021? Please, be aware of this fact when you make any LG purchase. I am very unhappy with the quality of the LG refrigerator and terms of manufacture (2014)-selling (2021) data.

Looks like the problem was with the A&E Factory service! They rescheduled my Saturday appt to Monday & didn’t show up to that either!!! They claimed I canceled the appt & gave me the same nonsense story that LG hasn’t approved the warranty for compressor!

I called LG & told them I need a resolution & asked to talk to a supervisor. They promised to resolve the matter by Wednesday & they did send a repairman from Dave’s appliance repairs. This time he replaced the compressor & said if any issues within 30 days, they will came back to resolve it.

So the whole problem was from a crooked repair company called a&e factory service. Still disappointed with my lg fridge barely working six years, but glad the warranty worked & hope I thus time it works a bit longer.

    Original Review: June 23, 2022

Bought model LSC22991ST in 2016. Last week stopped cooling. Called LG since I figured the compressor failed & 10yr compressor warranty should cover the repair. They set up a service call by A&E factory service & told me if the compressor has failed, lg will cover the cost of parts & I just pay for labor. So far so good. Yesterday the tech comes & confirms it’s the compressor & gives me a $1,200 estimate!!! He says lg didn’t send them a warranty approval & I have to contact them before he can order the part. So I paid $99 service call fee for nothing!

Called lg the next day & was told A&E should have ordered the part & it’s covered! Called A&E again. They said lg has to set up another service call for that!!! To make the long story short I’ve spent well over TWO hours getting nowhere talking to incompetent reps with weird accents! Now I have to wait for another tech visit this Saturday under a so called WARRANTY visit so they can HOPEFULLY order the compressor under warranty! May end up paying another $99 visit charge! All this should have been done & resolved yesterday!!! Will keep you posted, but stay away from lg fridge. Apparently they have had issues with this linear compressor for years & still kept selling it!

Site suggested turn off for 5-10 minutes and no change. Tried 5 days, no change. Youtube suggested change compressor starter relay so did that and still doesn't work. I bought a brand new french door refrigerator from LG in early March 2022 and was required to "install" and put on the door handles myself. The french door handles attached well, but the freezer drawer/door handle will not attach because of the very specific and delicate inset screws that do not stay in place. I have called LG support more than 10 times now, each time receiving a new case number and they still have not sent a new part or a repair person to fix the defective handle. I am told the same "we'll help you this time" story and "it's being shipped right now" story, but it has been three months now!! It is out of the return window, but they will not honor the guarantee. So I have this very expensive fridge with a freezer drawer/door that is very difficult to open. Customer Service gives me the same lies each time.

Took advantage [at least we thought we were] of a 4th of July sale at a local Home Depot when the fridge we had, was hanging on by a thread. Narrowed it down to a Home Depot exclusive LG Model with the bottom freezer option. Wasn't a great deal at the time, but just needed one, on stock and delivered quickly. It became an even less of a deal about a 10 months in and it started making some awful noises randomly and the vegetable bin frame work, which is entirely plastic with recessed glass panels, cracked without any level of impact or stress, just the cold seemed to affect the cheap plastic.

One of the clear door shelves also started showing crackage...and spread significantly in a week's time. Such so, called LG to see if it was warranteed. They sent a new door shelf, the bin frame was on backorder with zero ETA. The shelf too 2 months to arrive. Then the fateful day arrived when opening the freezer revealed everything has thawed...The compressor was cycling and lost about 300 dollars worth of contents.

Called LG, they ran through a series of over the phone diagnostics. Nothing worked...and was told this was a Home Depot model that was made selectively for them, and parts were tricky, as he also stated it had a sealed compressor system and were expensive to fix. After an hour on the phone, he stated it was not under warranty and they could arrange a LG approved repair and was 6 weeks out. Told them it was unacceptable...as he also stated the compressors were sealed and very expensive to repair [1,000 bucks ++]. So lesson learned and decided to move on.

The lesson being, to never buy a store exclusive model, look more into the compressor system. If it's sealed, run don't walk away from these. The plastic they use is cheap, and the model selected was necessarily cheap, just ended up being a waste of time and money. Ended up replacing the frame work on Sears Parts Direct 3 weeks before the refrigerator died, to add insult to injury.

Replaced with a Fisher and Paykel and couldn't be happier. I would never buy another LG appliance based on the quality, the price or the fact that it had a sealed compressor unit. 1200 for the fridge, 225 for parts thrown into it to essentially became landfill fodder. The part of it all that's rings so hollow is LG states their refrigerators last 25 years. I barely got 4 or 5.

Fridge (French door double drawer freezer under) was delivered on 12/23/21. In March 2022 we came home to a mess of water all over the floor, water inside the fridge and under the fridge, we had to shut the water off to the fridge to prevent any further damage to our home, LG was called and they sent a technician out to arrive within a 4 hour window (he was 2 hrs past the 4 hour window). A whole day was lost waiting. The technician took a panel off the right door, pushed a hose back in and called it fixed, I asked him, "Is this going to happen again? Does it need any parts replaced?" He assured me it was fixed and the same problem would not happen again. Jump forward almost 45 days and the same issue, again LG was called. The customer service person really didn’t care. LG needs to replace this fridge. It has done enough damage to our home and we don’t trust the repair technician. Why do we not make anything in America? Tired of this.

I have had this refrigerator for almost exactly one year, and I've had to get it serviced twice already. This refrigerator came with the house I purchased, so I cannot speak to the buying process or why the previous homeowner purchased it, but it has been nothing but a problem since I assumed ownership. It makes an incredibly loud, very annoying whirring sound periodically, which I have come to learn is ice buildup on the cooling motor. In the first six months of owning it, I had a service technician come out and "manually defrost" the freezer. Then, a couple of weeks ago, the noise started again. I called LG and they again sent someone out. The customer support rep said it was covered under warranty, but when the service tech came out, they said it was not covered and they charged me $400.

In trying to connect with LG, the online chat was absolutely no help (I chatted with 5 TV support reps) so I had to call. In speaking with the refrigerator support rep (finally), I was informed that the previous rep did not put in the notes that the refrigerator was under warranty (insinuated that I was lying). All in all, it was a horrible experience, and I will never buy another LG refrigerator again.

Last Saturday April 9th the refrigerator started leaking and the temperature went up quickly causing the loss of all food in the fridge and freezer. We were unable to fix the issue so we called LG directly because we were so disgusted. They referred us to a service company called A&E who booked our service for the earliest possible date of Thursday April 14th.

On the evening of Wednesday April 13th A&E called to cancel the appointment and they informed me they would not be able to come out until April 22nd leaving me without a refrigerator, freezer or ice maker for another 8 days. I expect a refrigerator to last for at least 10 years but this one was replaced after only 1 year and now it has again stopped working for a 2nd time in 3 years. DO NOT buy LG products unless you want colossal headaches. I will never again purchase an LG Product. When I called ABT they informed me of a class action lawsuit filed against LG because of problems with their refrigerators. My model is one of the units covered in the lawsuit. On 11-2-2021 I purchased one from Costco. I was very happy with most of the features, until it started making ice. Within a few days the door ice maker would not drop any ice. Upon checking I found that the ice in the small door ice maker were clumped together. Reading the instructions I had to break the clumps so the ice would come down the chute. In thirty years I had never encountered such a problem. I have a fifteen year old Maytag still working and prior to that a Sears which never gave me any problems with the ice maker. I cannot understand how Consumer Reports would have given the LG such high reviews that testing an actual use of the unit would have shown the problems with the door ice maker. I saw later that other consumers of the LG refrigerators have experience the same problems I did.

    Update 1/27/2022:

On 20 Jan 2022, LG contacted me and related that they are looking for a provider to service my Refrigerator. My initial complaint was sent to them on 19 Jan 2022. On 25 Jan 2022 (six days later) I received a call/voicemail from "Provider" (someone hired by LG to service my refrigerator) asking me to call them back to set-up an appointment to evaluate/service my unit. I researched the phone number, identified the provider and observed that their one page (80% functional) web presence identified that they serviced refrigerators (from their site: Refrigerator Repair: Cleaning the Condenser; Cleaning the drain line; Cleaning the drip pan; Manually defrosting ice build ups; Replacing air damper seals; Adjustment or replacement of door or door gaskets). Absolutely no where did they reference diagnostics; systems evaluations; cooling system trouble-shooting and repair, Nothing.

So, using the email address depicted on their site, I emailed them. Asked for them to verify that they did indeed have the necessary training and certifications to service my refrigerator. I also stated that I would need to validate their business (License; certifications; insurance; etc.). On 26 Jan 2022, late in the day, I receive an obscure robo call relating that "My parts have been ordered and that once the parts come in that they would contact me and establish a time for a technician to return and repair my refrigerator, and if I had any questions, refer to "Provider's" website (by name)". Wow, no one has been at my house, let alone evaluated my refrigerator.

Needless to say, I am livid. LG not only produces Sub-standard products; fails at responding effectively to the customer in a timely manner; they completely lack any form of integrity. Imaging the unmitigated gaul it takes, for a Multimillion Dollar Company, to "Search" for a provider with the technical training/certifications, history of certified good service, that are licensed/bonded and insured meeting their (LG's) "High Standards" and come up with a company, that has two locatable addresses, both resolving to Apartment complexes, with a single faulty web page for an internet presence, a page of which does not identify any technical repairs (refer above), is not certified/trained to do the technical aspects required to repair a Refrigerator (nor do they profess to this), nor do they have any verifiable insurance covering the conduct of their business, absolutely NO information relating to their business, anywhere. In other words they (LG) simply looked for anyone willing to do the warranty work, did not vet the business or conduct any action to verify that the business they "Hired" were capable of doing the job let alone legitimate.

You have to ask yourself: What type of a business simply hands out their warranty work to ANYONE who responds saying "I can do that, Trust Me - wink, wink" and hand them the contract?; Imagine allowing people who are "complete unknowns" with NO certifiable background, into your home to service your $3,000 refrigerator, because LG fully backs them as an LG certified service provider. ARE YOU KIDDING ME.

Please note that there are Dozens of Certified/insured/very reputable appliance services in Colorado Springs; hundreds in the Denver Area.... Yep LG really did their research. We can pull up certified providers in seconds on the internet, it only took LG six days to find a business that could not perform the job.

An LG technician came in and told me he had bad news for me, he could not work in the unit due to Sulfur Contamination and his company advised him not to fix the unit. When I asked him, what could cause such contamination, he said it is because the "Chinese Drywalls". Our refrigerator Model #LSXS26366D is in the list of defective linear compressors in the LG Class Action Lawsuit. Our previous refrigerator was plugged in the same area for 13 years and never had a problem. We moved the old refrigerator to the garage, and it is still working under heat and humidity in a Florida garage. Our Air condition company certified that all our lines are clean with no contamination. All the appliances in our house are working properly, including our LG Washer and Dryer.

Today I called a specialized company in the Chinese drywall detection and they never heard of a refrigerator failing due to Chinese drywalls. This is not possible. Also, they mentioned that a Technician can't diagnose a contamination without testing the particles. I work in a power plant company in Florida and all the Engineers stated that the compressor is in a sealed environment with no co-relation to the outside elements. I have called the LG Customer Service multiple times requesting a written service call invoice as the Technician did not leave a written diagnose. LG refused to produce the document and the customer service rep hanged up on me.

The second customer service told me to call a third-party repair company a pay out of my pocket. Today another rep offered 20% rebate on a new purchase. Again, the refrigerator is three years old and under warranty for five years under a Class Action Settlement for this Unit. There is no proof and no explanation on writing of the cause of failure. Yesterday we called again, and the customer service rep said that our refrigerator is irreparable. I purchased this refrigerator 5 years and 6 months ago and it stopped cooling after 2 years of purchase. According to the technician, both the compressor and the evaporator need to be replaced due to the quality issue. It took over 10 days to get it fixed and I had to throw all my food in the refrigerator. It caused a lot of trouble during that period.

After it was fixed in 2019, it was not cooling again in 2021, only 2 years after it was fixed. This time, unfortunately, it is more than 5 years warranty time so I have to pay $270 for the same issue and I threw all my food again. Very frustrated with the LG product which I have been purchasing for many years. Will not buy LG products anymore.

The freezer compartment of the LG fridge (model #LRFXS2503S) we purchased in April of 2021 was not working properly. It was not making ice or keeping food frozen. The company contracted to repair the fridge came, and "repaired" it. The next day the entire unit quit working - no fridge - no freezer. I fought with the repair company, and they came out again the next day and "repaired" it again. Same thing - no fridge - no freezer. Unbelievable. The repair person told me he did not think it could be repaired - this was two weeks ago. I called LG, and they want the repair person to try to repair it AGAIN. LG also told me it was not their responsibility to replace the fridge - just repair it. Unbelievable - going on three weeks with no fridge over Christmas. AVOID buying any LG fridge. Ours lasted about six months, and the company has been no help in getting it fixed or replacing it. They don't care about you once they have sold you their product.

When a customer places an order why is it my responsibility to ensure I get my order? It should be your responsibility to ensure the customer gets their order once you accept payment. Now in 2021, I fought in vain for LG to pay for the freezer fan failure which happened again. They should have changed the fan in 2019 itself when the unit was under warranty. Having paid for the freezer fan mused and losing all my food, now the compressor has failed again. The executive department of LG - no one is even answering the phone. Voice of the customer/ office of the President is a joke. They don’t care about customer sentiment and bulldoze you. I complained to Texas Attorney General earlier in 2021 During the freezer fan fiasco. Then LG offered to pay $275 which I denied as it didn’t cover the cost of repairing the fan. Now the compressor from 2019 is broke again. No one to talk to at LG! Pathetic.

I purchased an LG refrigerator with a pull-out freezer in 2016. I have purchased a lot of LG products and been fairly satisfied until now. At the beginning of the Global Pandemic the compressor on the fridge broke. I waited several weeks for someone to repair it. I had just done a fairly extensive grocery shop because we were headed into lockdown. I lost a lot of food and it was impossible to even purchase a small bar fridge or freezer - everything was out of stock. LG's customer service was horrible.

They call you back in 3-5 business days with an appointment for a technician to come fix it. And you are waiting another week or more for that appointment - all with no fridge! I think I was 3 weeks without a working fridge. The fridge did get fixed but the technician didn’t protect my hardwood floors so I have about a dozen floorboards that got damaged and it took about a year to get that resolved.

Well here we are Friday, Dec 17, 2021, and the compressor is shot again! I speak to their customer service and someone will call me back in 3-5 business days to book me a technician to fix it. Unreal. This will be the 3 rd compressor in a fridge not even 10 years old. I do not recommend LG. This LG fridge is complete garbage. In an age where we need to be mindful of adding more crap to our landfills, I think LG (and any other company that produces garbage products) should be held accountable ie a fine, for producing such crappy products. I did some research when the first compressor died and there are lots of people in my shoes. Buyer beware. And their customer service is worse! I will never ever buy LG again.

We noticed LG refrigerator was stopped cooling and freezing on October 10th. We were told the option would be to repair or refund the cost of the LG refrigerator when we initially spoke with customer service on 10/10/2021, but a service technician would have to come and evaluate refrigerator first. On Oct 25th, a LG refrigerator repair was completed. We were offered a $200 spoiled food compensation which we have not received to date. On Nov 12th, the LG refrigerator stopped cooling and freezing: keep on mind it was repaired 2 1/2 weeks earlier. So, I called LG and requested a refund of the cost to replace it with a new refrigerator. Obviously the refrigerator and/or LG part is defective. The LG rep told me LG would not authorize a refund until another repair was done per LG PROCESS. I asked to speak with a LG supervisor who offered me a 15% rebate towards purchase of another LG refrigerator.

I told the LG rep that was absolutely unacceptable, and asked to speak with whoever would authorize a full refund. The LG rep said that her department does not authorize refunds, and could not proceed with my request per LG process. The only option i was given is to set up a second repair appointment on Nov 18th with same service company A&E. I was then told by the LG rep that after the second service appointment, if LG refrigerator is still not working, then they would be able to proceed with a refund request. I again asked for a second spoiled food compensation, and was told this was only offered once a year. Therefore, we would not be compensated for second set of spoiled food.

I went ahead and set up second service appointment on Nov 18th, while I figure out our next step. I spoke with A&E to try to get a sooner appointment, and queried whether they were using a new or refurbished part for my repair. I was told the part is ordered directly from LG to complete the service repair. So again, the defect is in the LG parts.

I bought a 4 door LG refrigerator. It's a French door on top with 2 freeze drawers in the bottom. I paid about $50 more to get a counter depth which is fantastic for the space in my modular home with an air vent in front of the space. This model has plenty of space in the refrigerator compartment. It looks like changing the water filter will be easy and convenient.

It does have a drawer at the bottom which is nice but it would have been a better design if it would slide out when only one door is open on the refrigerator. You have to have both doors open to utilize the space. The same with the right side drawer that holds produce. You can't get it open all the way before the left edge hits the center strip of the left side French door. I have only had it a month so will have to do another review after 5 years. This LG is a replacement for a 4 1/2 year Samsung that had constant problems with the ice maker freezing up.. I Will never buy Samsung products again. Their Customer Service is atrocious.

Updated on 11/29/2021: LG kitchen appliance buyer please beware. Again, based on my experience, any potential buyer should do research on the dependability of the product and any posted customer experience comments before purchasing any LG kitchen appliance. I made a post 2 months ago on the unreliable refrigerator I purchased and the lack of customer service from LG. Shortly after that post I got action, but it has turned out to be just lip service. I have provided everything LG requested to get a prorated reimbursement for the refrigerator. I have been told on several occasions the reimbursement is approved and the check has been mailed.

To this date, 11/29/21, I still have not received the check and I still have an unreliable LG refrigerator. The “promises” of me receiving a reimbursement, which come from as high up of the “liaison of the president”, apparently are meaningless. Bottom line is if you are planning to purchase kitchen appliances please, please consider my situation in order to avoid hours and hours of wasted time and frustration as well as money if you go with LG.

Original Review: LG kitchen appliance buyer please beware. Based on my experience, any potential buyer should do research on the dependability of the product and the customer experience comments when something does not work like it should. We purchased the French door refrigerator in November 2019. We started having a problem with the freezer compartment getting too warm in April 2021. This is October 2, 2021 and the problem still exists.

The customer service department scheduled repairs. Nine technicians from two different companies have worked on the refrigerator. Many components have been replaced including thermostats, rear cover panel and the mother board that controls everything. The problem revolves around the defrost cycle and the unit not being able to recover from defrosting. The compartment gets too warm, 41 degrees. The refrigerator compartment also gets to 41 degrees. Multiple times everything in the freezer has thawed and turned to liquid. Ice melts in the ice dispenser and runs on the floor. The issue has been escalated 4 times now. Three of those have been to the Defective Returns Department. They rejected the claim first due to “improper submission of the claim by their representative” and a second time because “the person handling the claim no longer works for the company”.

I have emailed the President twice without a response even though his webpage says he will respond. My experience has been extremely poor and I still have a defective refrigerator. For $3,100 I expected a unit that would perform and last for a number of years. The company has no doubt spent near that amount of failed repair attempts. I’ve been told that my unit qualifies for either replacement or refund due to the number of repairs and due to the failure of the company to schedule repair within 14 days. This problem is a nightmare and has no resolution within sight. Life’s Not So Good with this kind of customer service and a company that does not stand behind its product. Buyer beware!

This review is for LG LFX28968ST French door model with a linear compressor whose last four letters/model number end with LANA. Looks like I missed the lawsuit window as mine was purchased in 2013. The fridge had icemaker issues (bad design) throughout the life of usage. Overall a good looking fridge and this compressor failure and follow on process with LG customer service has made me rethink this company. Let's see, LG TV won't be replaced with LG, Washer and Dryer, I will take my business elsewhere, AC unit, never again. LG could have done the right thing and compensated me somehow but they chose not to. I have a great looking fridge but it doesn't perform its basic function due to a badly designed compressor.

Not one single tech is willing to come out and the ones that do want $1000 to fix it in the Chicago area. LG customer service is silent and all they do is keep sending me 5 techs in my area. I even said to provide me the parts and I will find a handy guy who can help me install it (I am quite familiar with the dangers of R134a to the environment and want someone to recover it and do it right). I am tired of hearing all of these manufacturers don't build them like they used to but LG's reputation on its linear compressors has suffered and they're not doing anything about it. Well, customer service is what differentiates you and LG is not doing that. Your move LG. I leave it to you if you want to retain me as a customer but do it quickly.

Meanwhile all the techs said this is going to go out again because they had issues with this model.

I accepted the refund - I'm still waiting for that too. All the advertisements and sites are all false - LG does not stand by their products and definitely does not care how the consumer. I have owned an LG refrigerator for five years, and have now had 3 times where it stopped sufficiently cooling due to a well known issue with the compressor and other internal components. There is even a class action lawsuit that covers numerous models. Part of the class-action lawsuit requires them to extend the warranty up to 5 years. Since I am now about 7 months past that 5 years warranty, LG will cover the parts to repair, but not the labor. Since the repair is quite involved, it is expensive and therefore not worth it, especially since this would have been the THIRD time to replace the compressor and other parts, and there is no guarantee it would be a durable repair.

If the third failure of the compressor had happened just 7 months earlier, I would have been entitled, per the terms of the settlement, to compensation. I realize at this point LG is not obligated to do anything beyond the terms of the class action settlement, but it is infuriating to me that a company would produce a product like this, need to have a class action lawsuit to do right by its customers, and seems content to leave me with a product they know is faulty and refuse to take responsibility based essentially on a technicality. It's disgraceful. Avoid LG products. This is a nightmare.
