LG will not support you if one of their products fail. I have had a LG refrigerator for 4 years and the compressor just went bad. I’ve been waiting for two months to get it serviced. LG says they are waiting to hear from the service provider and nothing ever comes from it. They refuse to give any type of refund or money towards a new purchase since I don’t have an original receipt. Mind you this company makes 64 Billion in revenue annually. I will never buy LG again.

Purchased a LG French door refrigerator in July 2021 - it was installed October 2021 - unit is in our second home in Florida- drove down for Thanksgiving on 11-19-25 to find the refrigerator had kick the breaker and lock up the compressor and not been running for some time - maggots and the smell was horrible- spent hours cleaning the nasty food out of the unit - had to spend the next two nights with friends for health issues with smell and maggot’s. Not what you want to see after 12 hours of driving.
LG refuses to take responsibility for a 4-year-old unit that failed, knowing that have compressor failure issue with their units. Have one in main home and it will, be replaced as we cannot afford to have this happen again. So lost food and had to purchase a new unit to replace the failed LG and sanitize our kitchen area. They said the failed united need to be inspected for reason of failure. Really keep a maggot-infested refrigerator in your home until they can get a Services tech out - who knows how long that will take. Please be aware that LG DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. LG needs to stand behind their product.

I can see why LG has such a poor rating. We purchased $6000 worth of appliances on Nov. 10th. Scheduled for delivery on the 28th. Delivery company texted me yesterday to say they would be here Friday between 10 & 2. Got a text from LG saying shipment was rescheduled for Dec. 12th. Called LG, and after a painstaking journey thru their automated system, I finally got to speak to someone from who knows where. Spent quite a while on hold, to find out, none of the appliances are in stock. They're scheduled to be delivered to the warehouse on Dec. 15th. So much for getting them on the 12th. Needless to say I canceled the order.

I am so very upset about the way your company DID NOT handle my situation. I have a 10 year warranty and my refrigerator is 9 years old. This is the 3rd time I've had to contact LG as my ice maker has broken 3 times. No one called me within the timeframe you stated in your text back to me. Not ONLY will I never PURCHASE another single item from L.G. I'm making sure, through posting on social media how such a big company as yourselves would EVER treat your (use to be) customers. I am also making sure that L.G. receives a 1 star rating toward your company. Happy Thanksgiving. Very unsatisfied former customer. 😡 😡😡

Bought a LG Refrigerator in June, 2021. Recently the icemaker had water running out of it so we called a repairman. After he checked it he said it was not the icemaker and was a manufacturers defect because it was leaking between the insulation and door making it not repairable. After speaking with LG over a couple of weeks they came to the conclusion that it was not under warranty. I told them I knew it was out of warranty but due to the defect it was not repairable. I told them so you want your company to be known for making a refrigerator that was only good for four years and they really did not care. Customer service was poor and would never call you back and had the audacity to send me a coupon for 10 0r 20% off a new refrigerator. Will never purchase again. Our repairman also told us he did not recommend LG.

Bought a brand new LG fridge. Got it delivered and installed October 6th. It is now November 17th and I still don’t have a working fridge. LG first said they don’t have a repair person near me… I am an hour outside of Boston… really! They finally found someone and they have come twice now. Once to replace the computer board, 3 days later still not working. Then they came and replaced the compressor, worked for less than 2 weeks. I just asked for a replacement at first but now I just want the POS gone and my money back. LG is saying they will send it up the ladder to the next group and I should hear back in a couple of days to see what they can do… ugh!!!! Never ever buy an LG again.

I think LG makes these refrigerators so cheaply so they do break down so you have to pay to have it replaced or buy new. Ours is 4 years old, first the icemaker stopped working then the freezer the next day, then the entire fridge doesn’t cool. However, the Lights do come on! WTF! They don’t make them like they used to! Remember when our Grandparent’s had their fridge for 25+ Years! THIS SUCKS! LG SUCK!

The brand new refrigerator purchased from Home Depot was installed and turned on, but within a few days, I noticed it wasn’t cooling. The technician diagnosed the issue as a leaking compressor. LG sent a technician but he would not remove any panels to inspect properly saying there shouldn’t be a leak inside. That is exactly the problem! Well sorry this isn't about their TV, it's about their high dollar huge French door knock knock refrigerator. Paid almost 4 grand for this. They've had technicians at the house four times in the last two and a half years. Three months into it the compressor went bad. 5 months later the crapped ice went bad. 8 months later the craft ice went bad again. Then they wanted to send me a new circuit board which they did. I installed it and guess what it was the wrong circuit board. They had to send me another one.
Another 5 months go by in the craft ice went out again. Then about 2 months ago the refrigerator quit working again I contacted them to look if there's another problem with refrigerator major. I want a new refrigerator and they assured me that if there's something wrong they would replace it. The technician that was out here the first time came out again and guess what the compressor and the whole internal refrigeration coils were bad. Now 10 phone calls, 15 pictures and eight emails later they still are not doing anything about replacing my refrigerator. They're trying to offer me a prorated amount which I'm not going to accept. This refrigerator was a lemon from the beginning. I want a new refrigerator. I would never ever recommend LG to anyone ever again. Ronald M ** USMC retired

We bought a LG Smart Instaview refrigerator and loved it - the first two years. Then when the regular warranty expired, the ice maker that dispensed in the door quit working. No big deal, we used the secondary ice maker in the freezer. A short time later, on July 25 the entire refrigerator quit cooling, but yeah! There is a 10 year warranty on the compressor!
We contacted LG and they scheduled a repair with an authorized dealer in our area, and were charged $434. September 18, refrigerator is still not repaired, another call was placed. October 18, I logged on and it said repair was canceled. After a 2 hour phone call, we were able to reschedule the repair. 6 hour later, I get an email saying 'Repair was canceled'. October 21 another 2 hour phone call trying to find out why, all they could tell me was that there were no authorized repair in our area. So, we've been without a refrigerator since July 25, it's now October 22, having been promised all this time that a repair would be forthcoming, to now be told, no repair, even though there is a 10 year warranty on the compressor. Just a 'sorry' but nothing we can do. Beyond frustrating.

Our LG refrigerator needed repair. I went online and scheduled a repair and LG set a date of 8/10. The technician scheduled the parts to be directly shipped to us. The parts did not arrive. The reply from LG was that the parts were back-ordered and that they had no further updates. This went on for an additional 6 weeks with LG repeating no updates. When the work was finally completed after 7 weeks. The bill had an additional 15% due to complex repair. I asked to speak to a supervisor and their reply was that they had no supervisor(?) which I challenged, but they would not transfer me to anyone to discuss the added charge or any billing details. My suggestion is DO NOT buy a LG refrigerator at any cost. But if you do own an LG refrigerator and it needs repair, do not try to get it repair, buy a new refrigerator.

My door won’t shut properly and all this was supposed to be fixed the first time around. They only give you three month warranty so I believe the technician they send out will fix something and also break something to have you keep calling every few months.
Now I’m having the same problems and they will not send a technician back to fix the same problems. I have to pay another $399 plus tax just to have them come out here again. Horrible technician, horrible staff. Horrible brands. Do not ever purchase any LG refrigerator. It’s a shame LG has a continued issue with their compressors and lack of true customer service because otherwise loved the product! Beware of LG refrigerators due to compressor failures and lack of LG standing behind their products. Nothing is changing. Within 3 weeks of each other, my parents LG refrigerator compressor and our LG refrigerator's compressor, died. While shopping to replace my LG on my first day at the Big Box store, I found myself with 5 other LG owners who just had their compressors die as well! Combined, our refrigerators ranged from 6 months to 8 years old. While LG will tell you the compressor has a 10 year warranty 9keep in mind this is parts only/not labor), what they won't tell you is that you most likely won't find anyone to service/replace the compressor LG will send you. All companies, except one, in our area flat out declined to work on an LG refrigerator.
The one that was willing to work on them was straightforward, and before coming out, told us that they were willing to evaluate the refrigerator and fix anything on the LG, except the compressor. Of course, it was the compressor that had gone bad. The reason they'd all been unwilling to work on LG compressors is that they guaranteed their service and they'd been burned over and over because the replacement compressors failed as well.
One man at the Big Box store had said that he had received a partial refund from LG but this was only after 6 weeks of constantly calls with LG as he and LG tried unsuccessfully to secure anyone in our area to service the compressor. So he and his family went 6 weeks without a refrigerator and was just then able to start shopping. The customer service agent I spoke to was polite but not helpful. I'm sure if all I did all day, day after day, was take 'dead compressor' complaints from LG customers, I'm not sure how helpful I'd be either.

I bought a LG refrigerator. I spent over $4000 for it within four months. I had to have a repair done and they didn’t fix the right thing. They replaced the compressor on it the fans on it and thankfully I had a two-year extended warranty after that, and they kept replacing the same part and as soon as my warranty went out in the same thing goes out, they refuse to do anything about it, even though the Refrigerator had the same problem that it had when I bought it and instead of replacing the computer board in the heater so the evaporator coils don’t keep freezing up.
They just kept replacing the fan motor until it went out of their warranty so I called and LG man said, "Oh yeah they’ll give you a one time courtesy call because of this issue and I called in, they absolutely refused." Customer service is horrible and do not buy an LG refrigerator. Stay with Whirlpool. LG is not life‘s good. It is the opposite of that, please do not buy an LG refrigerator. LG advertises premium refrigerators, but mine has been nothing but repeated breakdowns. Over seven repair visits in under three years, thousands in spoiled food and medicine, weeks without a working unit, and no replacement offered. If I could give zero stars I would! This is the worst refrigerator I have ever owned! It is about 9 am and my son just noticed everything in our freezer is partially thawed. To my knowledge we didn't have any power outage this time at all. Clocks are still set. • September 2025: The replacement compressor has already failed (Service Ticket: **).
• Despite this being a known defective part (LG’s linear compressors have been the subject of previous class action lawsuits), LG refuses to fully cover the repair — offering only a flat-rate $399 + Tax labor fee.
• That flat-rate repair includes just a 90-day warranty, meaning there's a high likelihood the substandard replacement part could fail again, forcing another costly repair — all while still technically under a “10-year parts warranty.”
• Due to the compressor failure, I was forced to discard a full refrigerator and freezer’s worth of food — a significant loss LG does not compensate for.
I've escalated the issue through LG executives and the Presidential Liaison team, but the responses have been dismissive and unhelpful. I’m now pursuing complaints with the Texas Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
________________________________________
⚠️ If you’re considering an LG refrigerator with a linear compressor, be aware:
• These units have a documented history of early failure.
• The “10-year warranty” is misleading — labor costs are not covered, and you may be stuck with repeat repairs at your own expense.
• The replacement parts carry only a 90-day warranty, even if they’re known to be unreliable.
Consumers deserve better from a company of this size. I hope my experience helps others make a more informed decision.

And if you cannot change the filter, you may void your warrant. I contacted Home Depot where we bought it, then the insurance plan I paid for, then customer service at LG. She not too politely told me that their concern is if it mismanufactured. It probably is, or why would this basic function not work. I love it, but I cannot change that filter. After reading LG customer experiences regarding service by LG, I quickly saw it can take two weeks for them to get a technician to your home. Then, one to several more weeks for needed parts to arrive. Then, another appointment needs scheduling. The action I took was to order a Frigidaire from Lowe's since they could get it delivered within two days. It's the night before delivery day and I had to put everything in ice chests. We are on our second LG refrigerator in 10 years. The first one only lasted about 4 years. We liked the features so, unfortunately, we bought another one because they told us they had improved the compressor in the newer model and extended the warranty. After about 6 years, the freezer and ice maker stopped working in this one but the compressor is fine so not covered by warranty. My husband called customer service to get it repaired and they said the first appointment was 10 days out and gave us 3 approved repair people to call in our area. Not one of them has called us back after 10 days and now LG says they can't send a repair person either so we have a non-working freezer, a fridge that is barely holding 40 degrees, no ice maker and no one to repair.
LG does nothing but repeatedly re-read a script when we call and has been useless in helping us find a repair person. We would have been happy to pay someone to repair it but we can't even find anyone who can do it. Extremely unreliable product and even worse customer service! Never again! They also texted me saying someone was on their way between 4-6. I do have to say he fix my fridge. And it was the compressor. But keep in mind. A family of 5 had to live out of coolers until it got fixed. And school was about to start. 1500$ on a fridge that doesn't last but only 3.5 years. There is a problem with the icemakers on this model and LG will do everything they can (sending multiple repair techs) but replace or refund their product. If you want ice on a regular basis, save your money & buy a cheaper refrigerator!
The refrigerator did not make ice when delivered. I was told to wait a few days for the freezer to reach a temperature for ice and it would work. It didn't. My first contact with LG was thru their Chatbot. I was given a link to YouTube and shown how to hit the rest button for both icemakers. Then they started working. Within a week, the door icemaker stopped. The only way to get it working is to open the icemaker door, take out the catch tray and hit the reset button. Then it works 1-2 days, then stops. See picture of the tray in the stuck position.
Lowe's return policy is only a week, so we now have to deal directly with LG. We have contacted LG on several occasions. First time they were to send me a new icemakers but it never arrived. Upon follow up, they sent another one and said I was to replace it myself. That icemaker worked a few days a day also stopped working, requiring me to hit the reset button almost on a daily basis. The 3rd time we contacted LG, they sent out a technician (saying the tech will have to determine if the frig was unrepairable before they'd elevate the issue). The technician scheduled a visit, only to say he didn't have the icemaker in stock and needed to order it. Another week goes by, and he comes to replace the icemaker. It didn't last a day.
We are now fighting with LG to just refund or replace the refrigerator. They want to send another technician. We feel it's a defect in this refrigerator and we don't want to have to go "through their process" of sending multiple technicians, to probably replace multiple parts & continue to inconvenience us, before they'll just take the fridge back.

My husband and I purchased the half French Door LG refrigerator, model #LMXC23796D/00 in 2017. Funny thing, when we first bought it, my brother in law said they had bought the same model and it broke down immediately. He made the vendor come and take it out of the house and he purchased an entirely different brand. That was a warning.
Within the first three years, the freezer fan had to be replaced. Thankfully it was covered under my extended service warranty. In the beginning of this year, the freezer started making the same noise as before. My husband took everything out and ice had built up along the the back, interfering with it and we had to use the hair dryer to melt it away. It took hours. Within the last few months, it started to take its last breaths. First the noise that sounded like the fan again, We called the LG service # and the repairman said was from too much cat hair. He vacuumed it for a cost of $450. That was late April. This week, June 23, the whole thing just died. Called service, they replaced the compressor but said there was a leak in the line. they said it wasn't fixable. We had the thing 8 years and it cost $3,000. Maybe some people think $3,000 isn't a lot of money but we do not agree. I had to throw out so much food. Wasteful.
Let me make a comment about the companies used for the extended service plan. The first time the freezer fan went, the repairman replaced the wrong item. I don't know what he did but the noise in the freezer stopped for a day, then once again started. I called and arranged for another service visit and requested that they not send the idiot who doesn't know what he is doing (or perhaps he does as he gets paid for the service whether he did a proper job or not). The second company was much better and did the job. But the fridge/freezer was not that old. I don't have my receipt, sadly but I am attaching the receipt from the serviceman saying "Replaced compressor and drier, leak is unrepairable." In summary, for those of you who love your new LG refrigerator, get ready, you won't love it for long. We purchased a new refrigerator yesterday and it is not an LG. Never, ever LG.

Installed a new switch panel and motherboard. Working for about 30 days. I was drying close. I smelled a burning smell. The dryer was stuck on again. I contacted lg and asked for manager. They refused to put one on the phone and was arguing with me and refused to put one on the phone and hung up on me. Nobody speaks English. I will keep this brief—one year after purchase, I lament that this product is the worst investment my family has made. The fridge has temperature issues. More than half of the time the freezer’s gears are either frozen, or they thaw out every item with above freezing temperatures. When I use the mechanism for water, it is either not working or lukewarm. The mechanism for ice does not work, or—in the seldom occasion that it is does—exhausts a glop of warm water before the ice drops. Technicians have attempted to repair this fridge, highlighting a burned fan and compressor, to which I am skeptical of this third party input, but must concede that—based on the continued issues of the fridge—would not leave me surprised. There is also noise, which I’m unsure suggests other issues of the fridge that I have overlooked in this summary.
Overall, I am uncertain how it is legal to market and sell a product as a fridge, despite that is basically a relatively loud and moderately chilled closet, expensing +$3,000 and supplemental $2,000 in third party repairs—yet currently remains with multiple issues. Please, save your money, and look into a different brand of refrigerator.

We have our LG Think Q refrigerator for 3 years and paid over $2500. It went out on us 1.5 weeks ago. I called LG for technical support and was told it was out of warranty, they offered flat rate fee of $458 for repair. I had paid in full before they scheduled repair appointment which was a week later. On the day of the repair, technician showed up without part because the part he had ordered not yet arrived. Same afternoon, part arrived at our house so I contacted the technician to schedule the install. I was told his schedule was completed book till 7 days later. Very disappointed and regretfully to buy a fridge cost $2500 and last 3 years. Then had to pay $458 for repair that took almost 2 weeks.
When the technician finally showed up, he roughly spent 15 mins to replace only one part (two arrived to our door). It made me wonder if something is going to break sometime soon. He assumed to parts were needing to replace but only did the bare minimum. More than $3000 spent on a fridge, not confident it will make it another year. I will never buy another LG fridge ever again. If you plan on buying one, just look at the review - 80% customers gave one star review. The customer service support team doesn’t care about what you have to say, rude and unprofessional. (The call center are located in Philippines, you can hear all of the background noise. Said it was the same compressor. Said if I had questions to call customer serv. Later the one in Mexico went bad also. Same problem. I tried everything to get help. Finally, customer service lg America told it to me straight, "The warranty is void if you took the refrigerator to Mexico."
I found the compressor and asked cust. serv. if new compressor would last longer? She said, "No. Is the same product." She told me that fridges had 10 yr. warranty. I asked her; "Then why did it break in 2 years?" She replied, "Well nothing last 10 yrs. no more." I told her I had a Philips refrigerator that lasted 25 yrs. with no issues, so now I own 2 fridges one expecting compressor failure within 2 yrs. and another that it's not going to get fixed ever in Mexico. My french door ThinQ LG refrigerator was delivered 9/7/2022 and on 4/6/2022 after coming home from a day out, we find it's not running. The maintenance tech locates the problem to find the flow meter isn't working. He contacts LG and it is determined that it's a product failure. In my mind, that means it should be on their end to replace. But even though the appliance is 2 1/2 years old, was never abused and only myself used the ice maker, it's out of warranty and they won't pay for the part replacement.
When I call the company, the agent only spews out the warranty policy to me (I had my copy right in front of me along with my receipt $2900.00) even though they admitted to the problem being on their end. I look at the web site and found it incredible to see they have a message to LG owners: "We are committed to making your product experience as enjoyable as possible, from purchase to the life of the product." Had I known that was 2 1/2 years, there would no way I would have bought. Clearly, LG does not stand behind their products and probably know they won't last since they only put a 1 year warranty on them.

We had this same problem December 29th, 2023 and took LG's flat rate deal to get it fixed from an LG recommended service representative in our area. They fixed it on Jan 05/2024. I called LG service rep and talked to her about the problem. Because it was past the 1 year warranty on the work, they would only offer a flat rate serve of $499. We had paid $359 just over a year ago for the same issue! I told the LG service rep- At this rate we can buy a new fridge Because we had just gone through this, just over our warranty amount of time, she was going to recommend our situation to higher ups that could give us a one time courtesy appointment, but it was subject to approval. I then contacted LG service through the website and after another conversation with a service rep. When LGs technicians would not work on it I enlisted a local service repairman authorized to do business with them. After several phone calls between the local technician and LG they sent some parts for him to repair the fridge but then it did not solve the issue (the fridge would not cool).
LG deemed the unit “unrepairable” and again went back to the missing sticker on the inside of the unit (the sticker came off through normal cleaning of the fridge). Remember the outside of the fridge had a sticker with the same information and I had the original purchase order.. If the sticker on the inside of the fridge is so important I suggest they make it where it cannot come off with normal household cleaner. The customer service is not great, how many different departments do I need to speak with to get a service tech, who resides in the area I live, scheduled to come look at my unit.
Also, I get pre-charged a $400 amount which may be covered under warranty if it so happens it is the compressor which is faulty. If it is, then I am responsible for calling back to request a refund. LG won't just automatically look at the service tech's notes and refund my card. In what world does that make sense? Can you imagine if a predominantly English speaking person in a call center in America, provided service in broken, barely discernable Spanish, French, Mandarin, etc.? People would be upset! My husband reached out to LG and they informed us we had warranty left on the refrigerator. They sent out a repairman, the repair lasted for over a year.
A few months after the work warranty had expired, we returned home again to find the food in the freezer section was defrosted and getting warm. We called LG, they instructed us that we would have to pay for the repair, but they would cover the parts. They sent a repairman out, we paid the $400 plus repair. The repairman replaced the exact same parts as the previous time, compressor and dryer. Within 45 days of the repair we came home and our freezer was defrosted. While it's not completely hot, it's not keeping the food to frozen temperatures. We had the repairman back out a 3rd time, where he said it was low on freon and added freon. I also called LG again and they were no assistance except to offer me 10% off for my next Lg product. Two weeks later I received text messages from the service technician. We scheduled appointment for 1/20 between 9-11 am. No one showed up.
I sent text messages to the service technician. A response in the afternoon claiming it was too far for the tech to travel. Lack of communication! I reached out to LG again and they said that my work order was complete and that my refrigerator was repair. No it was not! It has been three weeks and no repairs or communication. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated. And no refunds after I requested. I would never purchase LG products.

We purchased a LG Thin Q French Door Frig/Freezer a little over 4 years ago. The compressor stopped working, unit not cooling. I had to call about 12 appliance repair companies to finally get someone out to diagnose what the problem was - no one would touch the LG product. If you go online to LG support, they want to know the part number that is having the issue. You can't get that until you have a pro look at it. $150 later I had the part number. You have to have LG schedule the repair with their people otherwise, it takes twice as long, you need a letter approved by God, etc. if you want someone locally.
Even with that, it took a week for the repair. I lost all the contents in my freezer (and we shop Costco meats). They would only offer $250 as a "courtesy" in food loss. Yeah, in this economy. I will never load up my freezer again with this unit and I will never buy another LG product again. Yeah, we had issues with the LG stove and dishwasher also but I am stuck with this package for a few more years...

We bought a LG refrigerator in Oct. I like the way the ice maker didn't take up a lot of room and that it had two freezer drawers. I also wanted filtered water so that I didn't need bottled water or a separate water filter. Ever since I got the refrigerator, the water tasted horrible. I've called LG customer service multiple times. They blamed the filter and the water line. We've changed both 3 times. They said to get a plumber because the problem must be with our water. It wasn't. They plumber said it was with the filtration system because the filter won't click in and no water comes out of the filter. LG's response, we'll sent another filter. LG has the worse customer service of any company I've dealt with. Don't buy from this company!

If I could, I will give zero stars for product and service. This has been the worst experience with a new product i.e. refrigerator. I bought the refrigerator at Home Depot exactly 18 months ago. A couple of weeks ago I found my kitchen floor next to the refrigerator full of water, I looked around and notice that the water was leaking from the door ice maker, when I opened the door, I noticed an error message displayed lE and to call LG tech support. When I called, I was asked to provide a credit information for a charge of $450 since the one-year warranty has expired, since I wanted it fixed, I did.
They scheduled a tech to come over and fix the problem and they mailed out a part to me. When the tech showed up, and when he tried to replace the part he couldn’t since it was the wrong part, that same scenario repeated itself one more time. I received the wrong part and supposedly another part was ordered and I received a text to confirm an appointment on Dec. 24. I did but no one has showed up so I tried to reschedule and got a text that it was set up for Dec. 27. I still don’t know why I must pay for a faulty part within an expect reasonable time of purchase of a new product.

Avoid LG Products! Here's Why: I’m sharing my experience to save others from the nightmare we’ve endured. Over three months ago, while my wife and I were out of town, our LG refrigerator broke down, causing us to lose all our food. When we returned, we contacted LG and discovered that part of our 5-year-old unit was still under warranty. LG scheduled an appointment with one of their authorized service companies, A-Fix Service. Over a span of 1.5 months, A-Fix canceled on us twice and sent out three different technicians, none of whom could fix the fridge. Frustrated, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in New Jersey, where LG USA is headquartered.
Following this, LG sent one of their own technicians. After three visits, the fridge finally worked—though only for a week. By then, LG had assigned me a special customer service representative. When I reported that the fridge had stopped working again, the representative claimed the issue was due to a rodent infestation and insisted we call pest control. Though this claim was absurd, I complied. Pest control confirmed what I already knew: there were no rodents in my home. Despite this, I demanded LG send a different technician. This time, LG sent another authorized servicer, who managed to get the fridge working. But, like before, it only lasted a week.
At this point, I informed both LG and the BBB that it was clear the unit could not be repaired and requested a full replacement. Four days later, the LG representative informed me that the last technician had reported a roach infestation and that my case was closed. This was completely untrue, and now, my fight continues. The only reason I haven’t replaced this refrigerator is because of how unjust this situation is. As an advocate, I want LG to be held responsible. I will keep fighting and sharing my story to ensure no one else has to go through this.

Later on the same day, an authorized appliance repair company, Total Appliance Solutions contacted us to set up an appointment for the next day.
A technician came as scheduled (even called before arriving), replaced the compressor on the spot and gave us a follow up call the following day to ensure that the refrigerator was cooling. We had thought that it would have taken longer between setting up the appointment and getting the parts to repairing but pleasantly surprised that the process was fast, efficient and smooth, in 2 days I had a working refrigerator back. After spending far too much time with LG chat to resolve the situation - their solution was to send new screws. Really? When asked what the warranty on that suitable compressor was, I was assuming it would have a 10 year just like the original. Nope! The warranty stays with the original even if replaced. So had I replaced the compressor with the substitute, it would only have 2 years left on the warranty. WTH? So much for their 10 year warranty on sealed system parts.
Last straw was no reimbursement of any kind for food loss, or fridge failure under warranty. Do yourself a favor. Walk right on by LG refrigerators (Thin IQ), they have the worst customer service you can imagine to start with. I have been without a refrigerator for almost 3 weeks. They do not care either. I’ve only had the unit for a year. I began having problems in December of last year (FF EE code). The many times I called the service line I was told, "It was just frost. Put your food in a cooler or coolers and defrost it for 8 hours." They were kind enough to send a YouTube link with instructions. I went through this process multiple times with the blame being put on me for just not doing it right according to customer service.
This last Thursday was different, I didn’t mention this earlier this is a smart refrigerator, I get notifications on my phone when it is malfunctioning. This time I didn’t get a notification, when I get home I go into the freezer for some ice it’s melted, I contact customer service once again, I was greeted with call this service person they will fix it, I called had the problem diagnosed fan motor is done needs a new one, ok here’s where it gets nuts. I’m told it’s out of coverage for that the parts over $200 and another $300 and change to fix it. I called customer service. Once again I was told no. They are gonna cover it. They have to go another route. Someone will call me by Saturday, nobody called. I call them again. "We’re gonna escalate this. They will reach out to you. Give them 48 hours." Until Monday no call.
Monday reach out again to customer service. This time they did actually have them call me. "A tech was scheduled to come out Friday for you." 7 days without a fridge now. Now that all the food is defrosted. We cooked what we could and had toss a lot of food and medications that had to be refrigerated. Friday comes the tech shows up. Looks at it. Says I can’t fix this. Mind you I took time off work for this, I’m told I don’t have that part. What we know what the problem was why don’t you have the part, customer service neglected to tell home what part he needed. He can order it and be here by Wednesday. Now I call customer service. They tell me the tech lied. He knew what he needed.
I requested a manager. I was greeted by a rude foreign woman by the name of Jin which was hard to get out of her, she asked me what my problem was. We have it on record the part was ordered. I said he was supposed to have the part when he came. We already diagnosed the issue, the part ordered, that’s when I asked her name. That’s when she asked me if I was stupid because she told me when she took over the call. Now I’m livid. I told them I reporting them to BBB, her response, "I don’t care. Go ahead." This is exactly what I did with, I was contacted by the liaison to the president of LG via text who won’t give you a number to call her. She’s working on it.
Now Wednesday is here. No notification from the repair man so I reach out, "When are you coming?" "Can’t make it. I’ll be there Monday," day 2 missed of work, now here we are Monday waiting. No call. No show. Contact them again. "Sorry. Can’t make it." Oh by the way their repair window is from 8am-5pm, if you’re counting this is the third day I’ve had to alter or miss work for them. Now I’m currently sitting in limbo. Possible this Wednesday they will come. Nobody knows. Read all the reviews on LG refrigerators before buying. This was my biggest mistake. Not doing my research. This was supposed to be an upgrade. My Whirlpool was 16 years old. Never once had to repair it. This was a big mistake.

It took 3 visits and 5 weeks to finally get the condenser fan replaced. After 2nd visit the repairman said to unplug it so I was a few of weeks with no refrigerator. I made over a dozen calls myself to find another repair company but nobody would work on a LG (or Samsung).

My Aunt who is grieving over the loss of my Uncle had the unfortunate coincidence of having her LG refrigerator fail after less than two years of ownership and purchase price of over $3,000. Retailer who sold it won’t support it and I’m two weeks into “pushing a rope” with outsourced phone support to a foreign country with people who don’t fully understand English and are clearly reading from a script. I’ve been promised three follow up phone calls none of which happened. I too had a new LG refrigerator with the dreaded linear compressor fail within the first year of ownership. If I could give -1 star, I would. HIGHLY advise against LG refrigerators unless you’re a masochist and like paying for expensive crap with a high likelihood of failure.

Do not buy an LG refrigerator! We’ve had one for about four years and does not cool properly or freeze properly. Also about a week and a half ago we noticed there’s mold on the bottom drawer coming out from the bottom of the refrigerator. See pics below! I called LG. They did not care. Just said, "You’re outside of the warranty and there’s nothing we can do!" LG is horrible!! I will never Buy an LG again and I’ll tell everyone I know how horrible they are. Paid over $2000 for refrigerator and it doesn’t work. Unacceptable.

I purchased LG refrigerators for my new house and for the new built rental home based on review that it was good brand. A week after delivery the brand new refrigerator started to make a motor sound noise. Home Depot sent 2 technician to check, it was determined that LG should take it back and replaced with new one. I called HD customer service and forwarded to LG Customer Service. The Warranty Dept promised that it will be replaced but need the technician to look into it. Technician came but cannot figure out the problem and he will come back. Technician never showed up to followed up and never answer the call. I called multiple times and have to describe the same problem over and over again. I do not see them taking notes and recording the issue. I will not buy LG again and will not recommend this brand.

I bought an LG French door refrigerator six years ago and it just went kaput. It will not keep anything cold. Ice cream melted and the milk spoiled. I found out that I have the infamous linear compressor that a class action suit was won on. I called LG who said they would pay for the compressor but I would have to pay for labor. I decided that it would not be worth spending 400-500 dollars for labor to only have this refrigerator break down again. I won’t be buying an LG product ever again.

Beware. LG split refrigerator with freezer on the bottom and craft ice. Had ff e code in first year. LG trouble shooting recommends unplugging and/or throwing the breaker and/or full defrosting. Problem is defective fan motor and is a common issue. We did all the steps LG recommended, multiple times, and over several months. It was ok for a few weeks then repeat steps. NOW the fan has failed and LG will not replace as it is several months out of warranty. We followed THEIR recommendations and it took us past the one year warranty. Fifteen months old and now looking at a $500 repair. DO NOT BUY LG. Google and you find EVERYONE has issues with LG’s fan and LG KNOWS IT IS A FAULTY PART.

We bought LG Refrigerator (LRFCS2503S) in 2022 and the Compressor died after two years. LG support asked us to contact a repair company. Though the LG limited warranty says - compressor parts and labour is covered for 5 years duration BUT they said that is only valid in US and not in CANADA. The product is same, then why the warranty is different in US and CANADA. We had to pay a flat fee of $360 CAD as per LG it was out of warranty.
Th repair company charged us $111 CAD separately for the inspection call, which they said will get adjusted in the final invoice but now they are saying $360 CAD goes to LG, repair company will charge separately. LG product quality is so bad that the Compressor stopped working within 2 years of purchase. Then the product is not covered under limited warranty as well as per LG, though their documents say warranty for parts and labour covered for x years... So this is all a SCAM!!! If the same product is sold in CANADA, do the LG products become inferior that they will not fall under the warranty? Highly disappointed with the level of service and quality of product from LG.

Updated on 08/28/2024: I wouldn’t really say our issue was resolved but they did give us a portion of our $400 service fee back. I feel they should have returned the entire amount. There was no way they could have helped us, so why should we pay anything. Everything else I wrote still stands.
Original Review: We bought an LG fridge eight years ago and it has been freezing the food in the fridge section for about a year, so we called to have a service person come to look at it. To me what happened next is unbelievable and unconscionable. I was told that our fridge is good in every way except that a sensor/chip had malfunctioned, so we said we would pay to have the chip replaced, only to be told they don’t make them anymore. Why would they not make a chip for a fridge that is only eight years old when the fridge is supposed to last years longer than that!
I researched the LG fridge and found that the issue of freezing food is a common one. Not only is a relatively new fridge now deemed useless, but we had to pay approximately $400 to have the service person come to tell us there was nothing he could do. We were out of luck. They also told us that they wouldn’t refund us the amount we paid for the service visit even though the service person said they no longer make the chip. We are out a fridge and $400. This company is not to be trusted. They treat their customers and the environment poorly. Another fridge is headed to the landfill. Stay clear and buy any other brand, just not this one.

This was the worst service experience we ever experienced. We had purchased an LG refrigerator and right away it was making noise, a loud buzzing sound and also motor kept cycling on and off. LG service tech was extremely rude and condescending. When we described problem he told us that we didn't know what we were talking about and we should not read the manual furnished by LG which described problem. He did some test, said he could not find anything wrong, and told us to call if problem happened again. He never pushed our refrigerator back into position. My wife asked him to do so, and shockingly, he said, "Do it yourself!"
When we called LG customer service to tell them about our experience, no one answered and no one ever responded to our numerous calls and messages. We also tried calling the LG Sales Rep and he never returned our calls. Terrible service all the way with LG! The tech's name was Jim. We later called the number furnished with our maintenance plan and they sent a tech out. This was AAA Appliance Services, and the tech they sent, Rob, listened to us, diagnosed and fixed the problems within minutes. He also said that if any other problems happen, just call and he would be the tech that would come out. AAA was outstanding! I would never in my life ever buy another LG appliance! Their service as well as customer service was the absolute worst we have experienced in our entire lives. Beware of LG!

We bought a fridge for almost 2000$ about a year ago. The compressor stopped working which shouldn’t be an issue because it comes with insurance. At least we thought. We asked the repair people to come in and 400$ up for the repair about 2 weeks ago. A couple days ago they came to our house only to inspect the fridge without having the part even though we clearly stated it was the compressor. They still haven’t gotten back to us. This is also the same sentiment multiple people are going through. The compressed on the newer models are the most unreliable thing on the market. Overall 0/5, I would give negative stars if I could. You're better off getting a 200$ fridge from Kijiji than to have your fridge break for over 2 weeks with no end in site. Terrible.
