DO NOT BUY! Water and ice tastes terrible. They refuse to fix problem. Customer service is TERRIBLE. They want to interact on text instead of calling. I called and sat on hold and when you do get an actual person they give you the run around and never fix the issue. Purchased appliance on May 31 from Lowes. Delivered my new appliances on June 26, 2025. I have called 4-5 times, been given case numbers, have been told what I need to fix my issue, but they have yet to set up a time to come change out my water line in the rear of my refrigerator.

Just spent $700 to replace the compressor on my 9-year old LG refrigerator. This has been the worst refrigerator I have ever been around. After a couple of years the compressor started making random buzzing sounds. It has always cooled well but the ice maker started giving me minor problems after a few years. I will never believe any Consumer Reports reviews ever again.

Spent over $1900.00 for a new Refrigerator at ABT 6 years ago. Before Xmas the refrigerator stopped working. ABT tech came out charged $200.00 to diagnose the problem and was advised that the compressor and coil needed replacing for an additional $1400.00. I bought a new Frigidaire refrigerator for less than that at Nick's Appliances in Waukegan Illinois. I have an GE fridge and a Kenmore in my garage for more than 20 years and they are still working like new. Stay away from LG products. They are no good at all.

We bought a LG French door refrigerator 5 years ago. The compressor died shortly before Thanksgiving this year. A tech came out through their "LG flat rate" service for repair. He diagnosed a bad a compressor and replaced it with a new one. It lasted 3-4 weeks before it stopped working. Here we are, the day before Christmas Eve, scrambling to save all the food in our fridge. We chatted with an LG representative, who said it was against company policy to give a supervisor's name and phone number, after all she could offer was sending another tech out to diagnose the problem. LG refused to reimburse the cost of the defective compressor they recently installed, insisting all they could do was send a new tech out. LG does not care about their customers and they are selling an expensive defective product to consumers. Search their various lawsuits before buying.

LG Refrigerator Repair Nightmare – Weeks Without a Fridge, No Resolution or Accountability. I am submitting this complaint to document an ongoing and extremely frustrating repair experience with LG that began on November 30 and remains unresolved. Our LG refrigerator stopped working on November 30. We submitted a repair request directly through LG’s website and were assigned Unique Repair Services. From the start, the process has been plagued by missed appointments, misleading information, and a complete lack of follow-through.

The first repair appointment on December 1 was a no-show with no communication. When I followed up, the repair company blamed LG, and LG blamed the repair company. The appointment was rescheduled for December 8. When I called to confirm the arrival window, I was told the appointment had been canceled and that a voicemail had been left for me. No voicemail was ever received. I was also told the required part was on order and would be delivered on December 9. At that time, I was told to expect a supervisor call from the repair company — which never happened. I contacted LG and was again told to expect a supervisor follow-up. That call never came either.

On December 10, I called again because I had been told the part should have already been delivered and we should be able to schedule the repair. I was then informed the part had never shipped and would arrive in 24–48 hours. Shortly after, I received an email from the repair company stating the part was actually on backorder, directly contradicting previous information. Most concerning, LG later informed me that Unique Repair Services does not service LG products and has not for over a year, and that we should never have been assigned to them — despite the repair being scheduled through LG’s own website.

On December 12, after spending over an hour and a half on the phone, I finally reached an LG supervisor. I was told the issue has been escalated “higher up,” but there is still no resolution. The part is backordered with no estimated availability, and LG cannot provide a timeline for repair or next steps. Once again, I was told to expect follow-up. Given the repeated promises of supervisor callbacks throughout this process — from both LG and the repair company — that never occurred, I am not confident that I will hear back this time either.

As a result, we have experienced:
    • Weeks without a functioning refrigerator
    • Significant food loss
    • Additional out-of-pocket costs for replacement food and eating out
    • Lost time and missed work due to repeated calls and scheduling issues

    • Ongoing misleading and conflicting information

This situation reflects serious failures in LG’s service coordination and customer support. I am posting this review to document the experience, warn other consumers, and urge LG to take accountability and provide a fair resolution.

We purchased the LG French door refrigerator 2018 because of the style and height. The refrigerator preformed how it should for the first 7 years with no issues. The refrigerator stopped working and we lost the food that was in the fridge. We were thinking this shouldn’t be a problem because this should be under warranty so we contacted the service department.

After providing our model / serial numbers they had us perform a few tests and told us the compressor was bad. But not to worry because it was covered under the 10 year warranty. They provide us with 3 appliance repair companies. After talking with all three of those contractors they informed us that we were out of their service areas and to contact a local company. The repairs cost over 1k to repair on a 7 year old refrigerator. Very disappointed with LG lack of responsibility and willingness to fix their problem! LG LOST OUR BUSINESS and we purchased a new GE refrigerator. Don’t purchase LG appliances.

I paid a lot for this fridge a while ago to replace a 16 year old Kenmore as we thought LG would last as long or longer based on company reviews. Two years ago, the plastic around the glass shelves started cracking. At first, we thought it was due to overstocking the shelves and made sure we did not (and have not) put too much stuff in the fridge. The door plastic shelves started cracking first. Then the plastic surrounds on glass shelving started cracking. The d and found broken plastic pieces in the fridge and on the floor.

I called LG and they said the fridge is out of warranty and CANNOT help me AT ALL with any replacement parts. I find it very interesting that the shelves started cracking shortly after the warranty ran out. I feel the plastic is designed to deteriorate and to force you to buy parts from LG as they are not available aftermarket. Never, ever buying an LG product ever again.

They refuse to give any type of refund or money towards a new purchase since I don’t have an original receipt. Mind you this company makes 64 Billion in revenue annually. I will never buy LG again.

Purchased a LG French door refrigerator in July 2021 - it was installed October 2021 - unit is in our second home in Florida- drove down for Thanksgiving on 11-19-25 to find the refrigerator had kick the breaker and lock up the compressor and not been running for some time - maggots and the smell was horrible- spent hours cleaning the nasty food out of the unit - had to spend the next two nights with friends for health issues with smell and maggot’s. Not what you want to see after 12 hours of driving.

LG refuses to take responsibility for a 4-year-old unit that failed, knowing that have compressor failure issue with their units. Have one in main home and it will, be replaced as we cannot afford to have this happen again. So lost food and had to purchase a new unit to replace the failed LG and sanitize our kitchen area. They said the failed united need to be inspected for reason of failure. Really keep a maggot-infested refrigerator in your home until they can get a Services tech out - who knows how long that will take. Please be aware that LG DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. LG needs to stand behind their product.

I can see why LG has such a poor rating. We purchased $6000 worth of appliances on Nov. 10th. Scheduled for delivery on the 28th. Delivery company texted me yesterday to say they would be here Friday between 10 & 2. Got a text from LG saying shipment was rescheduled for Dec. 12th. Called LG, and after a painstaking journey thru their automated system, I finally got to speak to someone from who knows where. Spent quite a while on hold, to find out, none of the appliances are in stock. They're scheduled to be delivered to the warehouse on Dec. 15th. So much for getting them on the 12th. Needless to say I canceled the order.

Bought a LG Refrigerator in June, 2021. Recently the icemaker had water running out of it so we called a repairman. After he checked it he said it was not the icemaker and was a manufacturers defect because it was leaking between the insulation and door making it not repairable. After speaking with LG over a couple of weeks they came to the conclusion that it was not under warranty. I told them I knew it was out of warranty but due to the defect it was not repairable. I told them so you want your company to be known for making a refrigerator that was only good for four years and they really did not care. Customer service was poor and would never call you back and had the audacity to send me a coupon for 10 0r 20% off a new refrigerator. Will never purchase again. Our repairman also told us he did not recommend LG.

LG sent a technician but he would not remove any panels to inspect properly saying there shouldn’t be a leak inside. That is exactly the problem! Well sorry this isn't about their TV, it's about their high dollar huge French door knock knock refrigerator. Paid almost 4 grand for this. They've had technicians at the house four times in the last two and a half years. Three months into it the compressor went bad. 5 months later the crapped ice went bad. 8 months later the craft ice went bad again. Then they wanted to send me a new circuit board which they did. I installed it and guess what it was the wrong circuit board. They had to send me another one.

Another 5 months go by in the craft ice went out again. Then about 2 months ago the refrigerator quit working again I contacted them to look if there's another problem with refrigerator major. I want a new refrigerator and they assured me that if there's something wrong they would replace it. The technician that was out here the first time came out again and guess what the compressor and the whole internal refrigeration coils were bad. Now 10 phone calls, 15 pictures and eight emails later they still are not doing anything about replacing my refrigerator. They're trying to offer me a prorated amount which I'm not going to accept. This refrigerator was a lemon from the beginning. I want a new refrigerator. I would never ever recommend LG to anyone ever again. Ronald M ** USMC retired

We bought a LG Smart Instaview refrigerator and loved it - the first two years. Then when the regular warranty expired, the ice maker that dispensed in the door quit working. No big deal, we used the secondary ice maker in the freezer. A short time later, on July 25 the entire refrigerator quit cooling, but yeah! There is a 10 year warranty on the compressor!

We contacted LG and they scheduled a repair with an authorized dealer in our area, and were charged $434. September 18, refrigerator is still not repaired, another call was placed. October 18, I logged on and it said repair was canceled. After a 2 hour phone call, we were able to reschedule the repair. 6 hour later, I get an email saying 'Repair was canceled'. October 21 another 2 hour phone call trying to find out why, all they could tell me was that there were no authorized repair in our area. So, we've been without a refrigerator since July 25, it's now October 22, having been promised all this time that a repair would be forthcoming, to now be told, no repair, even though there is a 10 year warranty on the compressor. Just a 'sorry' but nothing we can do. Beyond frustrating.

When the work was finally completed after 7 weeks. The bill had an additional 15% due to complex repair. I asked to speak to a supervisor and their reply was that they had no supervisor(?) which I challenged, but they would not transfer me to anyone to discuss the added charge or any billing details. My suggestion is DO NOT buy a LG refrigerator at any cost. But if you do own an LG refrigerator and it needs repair, do not try to get it repair, buy a new refrigerator.
