Some of our maintenance issues have decreased compared to our old water. So the system must be working okay. But my biggest complaint is the salt. Somehow it turns into one big rock in a tank and we're constantly having to do maintenance on it.
Hi Geoffrey,
We are sorry to hear of the issues with the salt bridges. Unfortunately, this is really more site related than it is brand related.
If it's possible to keep the temperature and humidity around the salt tank consistent, that helps. You can also fill the tank just 1/2 way rather than full.
Please check back with your installer for other tips they may have found to be of value based on their experience in the area.

It's a good system. It’s worth doing because it will increase your health. I've noticed that I get better water. The water tastes better and it doesn’t have minerals in there that can make you feel bad. The upkeep of the system is really easy. I just add a little bit of rock salt once every two months.

I got Kinetico back when I bought my home from the neighborhood association. The home had a water softener in it. The water was soft but they tested the water. They had this drinking water, and all of it was hooked in together, and the drinking water was no good. I ain't satisfied with the payment plan, though. I've been paying for it for five years. The system cost me $5,000 and they say I still owe 3,500. I don't get it.

I'm not really happy with Kinetico and I never have been. I don't like the way it works. It makes a lot of noise. It uses a lot of water. It's running half the time. Then nobody ever calls to make sure that I have enough salt.
Hi Sandra,
Is the management team of LTM Water aware of these concerns? We'll reach out to them to have them follow up with you.
Kinetico offers the Kinex Salt Monitor which will notify you and your dealer when your softener is ready to have salt added. We'll suggest that they review the Kinex salt monitor and the Kinetico apps with you.

In my first home in Rockford, I did my research about water softeners and systems for reverse osmosis and I came across Kinetico. I liked the fact that it did not require any electricity and that it was highly effective. There was a price that you have to pay extra but the system worked like a charm. It was worth it and I'm highly satisfied.
When we were building our first house, the builder wanted to place a different system for water softener. But after he installed everything related to Kinetico, that was the system he had been trying to use for every single deal he made. He was impressed with our system. When I moved to the area where I live now, I didn't have any doubt and I just got a new Kinetico system for drinking, reverse osmosis as well as water softener.

Our Kinetico water system was installed four years ago, and any time we have issues, they come out and fix them, ‘cause we rent it. It cycles through itself and it’s maintenance-free. Our water tastes good. It doesn't have any weird taste to it, and it's nice and clear. Our toilets are clean and clear too. I would tell friends that they should stop shopping around and just to go with Kinetico because it's very reliable.

The vendor has been responsive but I'm not happy with the Kinetico system. Always, after it charges, we get a saline taste in the water. They've been out here three times, made adjustments, thought it was fine but they can't seem to fix it. I'm tired of calling and having them out here. My recourse will be to replace it with a different product in the next few years.

We have a 20-foot well that we didn't use anymore where it’s right in the backyard. They filled it up and put extra dirt on top. If it's settled, it has dirt to take care of it. However, that mound of dirt is not settling very fast. I'm wondering if we should start leveling it out or not. Other than that, I'm happy with the system. I'd highly recommend Kinetico.

The people from Mohr Soft Water here in Red Bud, Illinois have a good reputation for the products that they sell and they recommended Kinetico. Red Bud, Illinois is notorious for having subpar water. We got the whole shebang from Kinetico. We have the drinking water carbon filter business and the whole house water softener treatment system. Our water is clean now that we have Kinetico. It doesn't have an odor. It's just what you want. It's soft. Previously, we had a system that took electricity from the whole house system. The Kinetico system does not use electricity, which is a plus.

Working with Kinetico went pretty well. My only complaint with them would be that for a while, the filtration cartridges were hard to come by. If someone was to ask me what I thought about the system, it's great. The only thing is that the filtration cartridges are fairly overpriced.

Our Kinetico system keeps everything a lot cleaner. The water is usable now to where before, it wasn't and you can drink it now. The upkeep of the system has been really simple. My nine-year-old daughter could do it. We keep the salt in the system and change filters. The salt depends on the water usage, and we change the filter once a month.

Kinetico's customer service is very nice and they’re right on the ball. They do everything they can for you. I have to drink an awful lot of water because I have kidney problems. So, I love my Kinetico. I wouldn't be without it and I just had a new one put in the garage. I feel safe when I can drink my water. I had the system serviced every year for a long time and the guy who owned Kinetico here in St. George came and told me that I don't use water for cooking and I don't have a house full of people, so I only need to change the filters for the one in the kitchen every two years, which was very good of him because he was honest. He could have said that I need it serviced every year and charge me to do nothing.
I just had the system in the kitchen serviced a couple of months ago. But the one in the garage didn't have to be serviced. It's a brand-new one. The system was quite expensive but that's okay. It doesn't need filters so, I'm set there. But I keep up on servicing everything. If they say a year, I have it done every year. People should get the Kinetico system if they can afford it. It's an investment. When the guy came two years ago, he said the one in the garage was kaput. I told him to put in a new one. I didn't even think about it. It has been here 20 years. It has lasted a long time.

When they tested our water, they said it had such high levels of both sulfur and iron. When you first turned the faucet on, it smelled like rotten eggs in the whole house. But that's been gone ever since the Kinetico system was installed. The best part of the system is it's maintenance free. You put some salt in it and it's good to go.

I looked at Kinetico, went to the home show, walked up to a guy and said, "Hey, I've done my research, I want you to install a system. This is gonna be the easiest sale ever. Ours is 20 years old. It's gotta go. Drinking water system softener." He said, "I will call you," he showed up and it has been good. The water quality is good. I've just been noticing our shower heads are getting scaly. Against my better judgment, he said, "I don't think we need to do a water test because I just did one down the road about five miles." But there's something going on and it needs a tweak to run it a little more often per gallon. And our water was different. I was about to get on the app and shoot him a message to see if he could come out and test my water because we never tested it just to see if I'm a little harder than what was preset on the unit and get that dialed in.
I like that we don't have to think about our system. It's easy to use. It just does its own thing. I like that it runs whenever it needs to run and we've got the dual tank so it can run during the day and we still get processed water out of the other tank. All I have to do is add salt whenever I needed it. I wish my system was even smarter and it had a connection to the app right from my system so that I could see how it's doing. But maybe that's the next version of the system, meaning it's got a WiFi connection that connects to my home, and I could see how everything is doing versus have to manually look. The next advancement in my drinking water house softener system would be to make it "smart" where it could say, "Here's my drinking water filters, their remaining life, my softener status, and when it's running."
It would be cool for the guy that installed it to get alerts from the system versus from me. Because my furnace and air conditioner have that. If there's a problem, it sends the company that installed it a notification about what's going on, and they call me and say, "Hey, this is going on. Can we come out and take a look?" versus me going, "I didn't even know that." Because he installed drinking water, reverse osmosis, and the softener. If Kinetico could go to that next leap and monitor that for me or for itself, that would be cool.
Hi Eric,
We appreciate this feed back. Kinetico's claim to fame is non-electric products. It's difficult for you or the dealer to be notified of the product's performance.
Kinetico is making advanced in the IoT arena and Connected Products. We do have a line of electric products that connect to an App. We have the salt monitor, which is non-electric that communicates with the app with the customer. The electric softeners connect with an app and also our leak detection system.
Stay tuned!

We purchased a system, and installation was very easy. They sent a technician to the house and they took care of it all. I like that it's self-powered so you don't have to have electricity to the system, and it softens the water. My wife's skin is very dry, so she has soft water. We got the system that has no downtime to it, because it has two processing tanks. It would swap over whenever the other one is rinsing. It's a great system, and I will always have a Kinetico in whatever houses I own. We've had a system for so long, I don't know what it's like to live without one. We feel cleaner, and our clothes are cleaner coming out of the washer. We don't get any calcium buildup on our showerhead or any of our faucets anymore. Those are the main things.

We've had several Kinetico products, and we keep buying them. It’s a good service. The techs show up when they say they would, and they do their testing. It’s great. The last one we purchased was a unit for a 4,000 square-foot home, under air, in Guilford Connecticut. And we have two filtration systems under the sink. There’s one for the house, which is based on a sodium ion exchange. It seemed to make a lot of sense that we didn’t waste a lot of salt, and we didn't have periods of time where we wished we had soft water. And they never break. They just do their job. I love it. It’s a great system and worth every penny. But I wish it wasn't so expensive. We're having another house built in Florida so we talked to somebody down there. That would be a whole house RO system that would cover six different outlets in the house.

The only thing they offered was to contact the installer about the problem but that was a useless gesture since it was a factory defect. Zero accountability. This is not how you should treat your customers.
Hi Michael,
We confirmed that your product is 3.5 years old and still covered by the Factory Warranty. However, as discussed with Kinetico's Customer Support team, this Limited Warranty does not cover the dealer's cost of service.
Most Kinetico dealers offer a 1 year service warranty, not all; but most. Had your installing dealer been notified that you were experiencing salt water intrusion from a product malfunction within the 1st year, their cost of service would probably have been covered.
We are very sorry that the name Kinetico has not lived up to your or our expectations. Please feel free to connect with Kinetico's customer support team with any additional questions at 800.944.9283 or customersupport@kinetico.com

Kinetico's initial explanation of what was going on was really helpful. They educated the consumer, which is something we really tried to do in our businesses. The product has done a good job. We do save money on salt because it does not use up salt very quickly, which is good. That's been effective as far as helping us to save on our budget. It's just we live in an older house and I do think that there's some residue and stuff inside of our pipes that keep it from making our water rust-free. It is a little bit frustrating given the price of the system. Our water's much better, but it's not by any means perfect. I did have an issue that I wanted Kinetico to come out and look at it. I'm less than two miles from the Kinetico facility and they have no problem sending somebody out when they want to sell the system to you. But they were going to charge me $100 just to come out and do a water test for me. That did not sit very well with me. It was an $800 system and I've only had it for two and a half years. Kinetico refuses to sell to the public in the US and the service companies charge anywhere from $150-$200 for a service call (at least in my area). Then on top of that my filters are another $300. The installer and salesperson will never tell you this. We are a family of 5, so we typically go through 500 gallons every 4 months. This system is costing me nearly $1500 a year to operate, I also have an r/O system in front of the K5, so I also have salt cost on top of this. I would never recommend a Kinetico system based on the operating cost alone. I will also say that the local installer for me also caused me more than a few issues. As soon as I have the money saved up I will rip this system out and replace it with another brand who does not use proprietary hardware.
Hello Chris,
We checked with Infinity Water, your area Kinetico dealer. They confirmed with us that they have many customers that change their own filters. Most of their customers do have a technician walk them through the first filter change then continue on their own after.
You are correct that Kinetico Incorporated does not sell to the public. We are a manufacturing facility that does not have the resources available to include all the staffing and warehousing involved in Direct to Consumer sales.

I always had a water filtration system growing up. When we lived in apartments, we couldn't have them so my laundry and my body were just yucky. The water filtration system was one of the very first things we did when we bought our house. Not quite a year after we moved in, we got the reverse osmosis because we were doing a Britta thing and it was so dumb because it was like pour-it-and-fill-her thing then the next day, it was empty. We were spending a lot of money.
When my grandma moved up here from Southern Minnesota, I always heard her refer to Kinetico. I saw that it was family-owned and super close to our house. We called there and never had a problem. Their people were wonderful and super friendly. We were having issues with our softener and the salt wasn't going down. They came out that day to check it. In here, we installed a low pressure water showerhead and theirguys said, “Everything is looking good. It's just you're not using as much salt because you're not using as much water.”
We rent our water heater and reverse osmosis drinking water. It's nice to be able to turn on the drinking water faucet and not worry about filling the Britta and waiting a few minutes until a full glass of water drips down and is filtered. The reverse osmosis works differently and we liked the idea that it would remove more impurities with four filters instead of one little one. The water is really good. It’s just fresh and clean.
Thank you for sharing your Kinetico experience Bridget!

I'm not at all that excited about the system because it's doing a job that doesn't need to be done. I had no problem with our water, but my wife decided to be a health nut and didn't want to have anything that might potentially be bad. We had to buy the system through Home Depot and I had all the money, but I decided to do the payments. Home Depot’s process was interest free, and they didn’t let me know when that ended. I ended up paying all the interest on top of it all, and I was not a happy camper ‘cause if I would have known that, I would have paid it off quicker. I was charged more and that was a very bad taste in my mouth. I was not pleased. Other than that, Kinetico is good. We have really bad water. I have really sensitive skin, and my body just itched from the water. The water is a lot better since I put the system in than it was before, and at least we have drinking water now, too. We just add salt to the system when we’re out of salt then the periodic scheduled visits are done. That's really sweet. They reinstalled it a long time ago too.

We had single tank system and we had some complaints about that. So they switched us to the dual tank system and that seemed to alleviate some of the problems. Although we have been somewhat satisfied, our water has never been as soft as it was with the previous manufacturer. It's much softer than it would be without a softener, but it's not as soft. The required maintenance of the system has been very low. Although, we stopped calling about the water not quite as soft because they came a couple of times and it never improved. So I just came to the realization that this is as soft as it gets with this system. I can live with it, although it ticks me off a little bit about water spots because I've always felt with a water softener, I shouldn't have to hand dry my dishes to keep the spots off. But the dependability of the Kinetico system is excellent.

We had our plumber redo the work that Kinetico did and let management know and told them how much the bill was. They gave us salt to pay for the plumbing. It was $180 worth of salt. That was nice because they didn't have to do that. It was nice that they were able to work out a deal with us.
Hi Julie,
Unfortunately, most homes hose bids are tied in to the plumbing after the main that comes in to the home. There is an additional cost of labor and materials for the installer to route the soft water around or after the hose bibs.

The installers did a good job. The only issue I have is that we got a filter system on it and it should have been more permanent. But it's hanging off the side. When I try to turn the filter cartridges off to change the cartridge, all the connections spin so I'm constantly getting things back together. I also have to constantly putty things up so they don't leak.
Other than that, I'm satisfied with my system. The biggest thing is that it doesn't use electricity and it rejuvenates on utilization instead of being set to where it's got to be done every night. It doesn't use as much salt. It's also durable and it has made it through the winter. We had nothing freeze and I have it in a good-sized pump house and I keep it warm. But it's convenient and has far less maintenance. If I have a timing issue, it's simple to reset it myself. We have no smell, taste, or rust in our water. So it's doing what it's supposed to.

The rep went over everything with me, and then I settled on the products that I wanted to buy. They had it installed within three weeks. I did a home water system for hard water, a water softener for the whole house. I also got a unit that removes all the chlorine from the city water for the whole house. I purchased a K5 water filtration system for drinking water in the kitchen sink.
It's been a great system and it does wonders for the city water that we get. The hard water stains have disappeared from everything. One of the things that I liked about it was that it's not electric. It's just mechanical. It seems like there's much less to break and I haven't had any issues with it. It costs a lot of money, but it's a one-time thing and I own it. So if I move, I can take it with me. It's one of the best things that I've purchased for the house. I've been really happy with it.
There were a couple of issues that popped up when I was changing filters on my K5 system that, for some reason, it wouldn't start working again. Every time there's ever been an issue or I needed to change something, they come right out and do it, and I don't even think they charged me for any of that stuff. We talked about different systems that would fit our need, and my wife and I decided on what we wanted, and they came in and installed it relatively quickly. The system we have has an ion exchange, a water softener, and a resin filter. We can tell a difference in our water. We had iron in the water, and we're not getting a staining issue. My water was also fairly hard, and the softener has helped with that.
I just had service where Kinetico's techs had to clean the valves on one of the tanks. When I called for service, they were a couple of weeks out. They were busy. But the guy called, let me know he was coming and showed up on time. I was under the house with him while he was doing the stuff. The installation was easy and they took care of everything. I like the RO system because it purifies the water. But we're more disappointed in the water softener because with the previous electric brand we had, we could adjust the salt level so that the water could be softer. The Kinetico is just a one-size-fits-all. We wish that we had that ability.
For a water softener, go with our previous brand if you want water that is extremely soft. We wanted water that you could tell there was a noticeable difference when you got in the shower. To us, it just seemed like regular water now versus very soft water.

We have the reverse osmosis system in our house as well for our ice and drinking water and we're very pleased with that.
Also, their customer service has been good. Everything I've ever needed, they've taken care of. They have exceeded my expectations of how fast they can get to us.

I like Kinetico. When I felt that the tank under the house wasn't big enough, they came back and fixed it. When I felt that there was a little bit of iron coming into the thing, they came back again and switched the system around at no charge. They've been a good company. With the system, my toilets are clean and at the back of the toilet where the water is being pumped into, there's no rust. I don't have to wipe it out every three days like I had to do before. And as long as I change my filters, which I do every four days to keep a clean filter in there, I don't have a problem with it. The water has been coming out clear. Plus, I bought a little water tester, and it always stays up into the 90s. It goes to 100 and I've never been under 96.

My decision to purchase Kinetico was based on energy consumption. It doesn't use electricity. It runs off your demand. So the more you use, the more it will regenerate. The less you use, the less it regenerates. I don’t have to worry about power outages, resetting times. Customer service has been good. The sales rep came out and checked the water and confirmed what we needed. Also confirmed what the hardness reading was so that they could do the setup on the system to make sure that it didn't consume more salt than it needed. The installation was easy. They set up an appointment with the installer within a couple of days.
It's been a good water system. I had some problems at first. The system wasn’t operating properly. I found out that the unit that would be installed was a discontinued model because they had problems with it. Once I went to the district manager, all that got resolved, and I got a new unit to replace the old one at no cost. Overall, I'm happy with it.

We got a water softener when Kinetico first came out. Then, we also got a reverse osmosis system. We now have the K5 reverse osmosis system, which is the newer one. The water softener is great because we don't have all the little gunk that collects from hard water around your faucets and on all of your appliances that use water. And with the reverse osmosis system, our drinking water tastes a lot better. I wouldn't want to drink water from the faucet anymore now that we have it. There's a lot of people in my neighborhood who do not have Kinetico and they're always complaining on social media about brown water. But Kinetico has got a great filter system out there and we don't have brown water. Only one time did we have brown water and that was because it was time for them to change the filters. After Kinetico came and changed them, it was clear again.

I enjoy Kinetico for my laundry and bath but you have to watch the salt and having all that correct because, over the summer last year, I was drinking a ton of water from our under-the-counter water filter here at the sink and my mouth broke out. I don't know if it was the pH or something was off. So, we called Kinetico and had them come and change it. The people who installed the water filter came and put a new one in, but the pressure has been messed up since then and I've got to call them back about that. But other than that, it's wonderful. The installers were good and knew everything about all of it and told me what to do. The guy said it may need some readjusting but I haven't called him back to get him back out here for the pressure part. Because if the pressure part could work out, then we'd be cooking.
Thank God we have the water filter for our bathtub. My children take baths every night and we were taking baths in orange water when we first moved in. So, that has gotten better. But I wish that the under-the-counter water filter was better so I could drink it and feel comfortable drinking it. Since then, I haven't been drinking out of it. I drink bottled water.

There are many other cheaper units out there made by some of their competitors but Kinetico has been good to me. I could go to the place and get the filters, and I can go to Home Depot or Lowe's or the hardware to get my salt. So everything just tied into where I live and made it convenient. My mom went to buy filters and they told her they were $150 (She is deaf, so did not hear fully) so when she got them home, I took receipt out of bag and it showed $217. So I called and they stated the filters are now $199 (WHICH IS **, I understand a 10% but almost a 50% that is ROBBERY). So I told her to take them back. She is on a LIMITED income. He just gave us information, let us make our decisions, worked with the situation we had to work with, and did it well. Kinetico is everything we could have asked for. Having glued in numerous places that were known for major water problems, the number one thing when I moved into this house was to get a whole house water filtration system. After interviewing any of the companies that sold this equipment in my area and could install it in a reasonable amount of time, Kinetico came out number one. The person who was selling the system for Kinetico was an excellent salesman. He came to the house right away. He brought me a taste of a filtered water, and it was delicious. But after that, I had a lot of problems getting whoever was the local guy that was installing to show up and do what they were supposed to do. I had to make a lot of phone calls to finally get to the guy who owned the franchise.
I love the taste of the water with the Kinetico system. My refrigerator keeps yelling at me that I need to switch the filter, but I don't need to switch the filter because the water that's coming in is already filtered by Kinetico. I don't have to be suckered into buying a $65 filter from GE, which I like. I would wholeheartedly tell anybody to buy this system. It is efficient and effective. When they came to the house, the demonstration was pretty good. So, I was happy and I'm still happy with them. The water tastes way better. With the food, it’s way better. The huge difference is with the coffee, the skin and the shower. Even my hair has a nice improvement.

Our experience with the rep who came out was great. I purchased the water filter and the one for underneath the sink. My girlfriend can taste the difference in waters, and our water tastes a lot better now.
