The water pressure was low and it was time to change the water filter. I requested for a service through the Kinetico app and put in my information there but nobody called. I had to contact them after a few days. But after I called, they sent someone out right away. The tech that came out did a good job. He was great.

I inquired about Kinetico and the rep called right away and answered all the questions. We went through a demonstration, and he came to my house and also did their water test. So everything was very thorough. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He was really nice. I got the salt softener system and a reverse osmosis system. The installation was pretty good. Since having the system, I noticed a difference in the feel of the water.

The system is doing its job, so we don't have iron deposits throughout the house anymore. We had to have a repair done about two weeks ago because some valve broke, and it's okay now. We're happy with Kinetico, and we've recommended it.

I have no issue with the Kinetico system. I like that that it is gear-driven and there is no electricity involved. It's not costing me any extra electricity to run the water for the Kinetico system to work. Every so many times the gear spins around, it clicks over to the other tank and washes the other one out, and it's just set on the gear system, so I don't need any electricity which is cool. I had a lot of iron in my water. It would stain stuff orangey. I don't know how well the system is supposed to work, but it cleaned my water up, so that's a plus, but the water still got a weird smell to it, and I don't know what to do with that. I guess that's just from the water. I'm wondering if it has to do with the salt tank thing.
The guy told me to keep it around halfway, and I filled it up before. But one time, it was really hard and I had to smash it up with something because it wasn't working right because it solidified. The salt thing is kind of awkward. I think that could work better. Other than that, the system did what it was supposed to do. It's still a good system.

I've always lived in a city, and we just bought a property and had a well for the first time. I did not know anything about a well. When I heard about Kinetico through a friend, I chose to have a salesperson come and tell me about the product, and the water test that I was given was great. I got a whole house water system, and I'm happy with it. My water is being filtered.

So far, Kinetico has been great. We have their water softener for the whole home. The presentation was perfect. I got all the information I needed. There have been times when I felt we've had to add salt to our reservoir to make the water not taste like salt. But otherwise, it's been a good. Our water is softer.

With the Kinetico system, you don't have to have electricity and it uses much less water than the other systems. The company also offered us the option of installing it and renting it, and either permanently or after a year, we could buy it and they would apply the rent that we paid for that first year towards the purchase price. So we did that and we've been pretty happy with it. We also had to replace our first system within the last year. It leaked all the water out and made a big mess in the garage. The system just collapsed and we replaced it with another Kinetico system. It was much more expensive, but that made a number of improvements in the system over the years. And we decided to stick with Kinetico even though this new system was much more expensive than the first.
It removes the contaminants from the water and with the water softener system, when you take your showers, you notice the difference in the way the water feels. It feels slick and some people really hate that, but it doesn't bother us any. It also takes less soap to clean dishes and clothes. Plus, you don't have a hard water taste in the water. It's expensive, but it's a good system. And because it uses less salt, there's no salty taste in the water like you do with some systems. I would highly recommend it.

I got a water softener and an RO system from Kinetico. All my questions were answered. The installers were quick and professional. They did a good job. There was nothing out of place. They did it within the time frame. They did everything they said they were gonna do. They didn't leave a mess, too.

I purchased the Q85 for the home and it has the salt and chlorine. When the water softener is working, the water is softer and better, it rinses quicker, there's more lathering with the soap when we're washing, we have better smelling clothes, and flowers last longer. But my frustration is that I figured I was paying a premium for a better product and that has not been my experience yet.

After two years of having the diseased water, we finally got it working correctly. When I spoke to one of Kinetico's officers, he said, “I never heard of any problems at all with the system. It works very well.” We never thought it would be the water. It was the water going through the machine, and it had bacteria on it. I paid to avoid having bacteria that come through the water, but Kinetico never said anything about it, or I didn't make any complaints about it. I should have. My wife suffered for two years. She was afraid to go anywhere and get caught shorthanded without a woman's toilet somewhere.
We told Kinetico about it and they kept sending guys out, but it wasn't corrected until they got the right guy. Only one guy knew exactly what the problem was. He knew what to fix, and told us not to drink any water or turn any water on for 24 hours, and he fixed around there. That's the guy who collected the whole thing for me. Sure enough, there were no bacteria. But it’s total bacteria in the system. I feel sorry for these people that have businesses. It must be tough for them getting decent help today. I know it's not easy. But if I was a good customer and I paid my bills on time, I would expect to be serviced at the right time. But we're getting clear water now.

My husband and I had a Kinetico system when we had a previous home and it was a great product. We never had any problem with it. I dealt with a few reps and they were always very customer-oriented, helpful and professional. I had a concern about whether it was working correctly and they were able to do a water test. Everything was good. The installation team here was very professional and helpful too. They made sure that I knew everything I needed to know about the system for when they were done and walked away. It was very good from start to finish. The water is soft and it feels good. There is no chemical smell and my drinking water tastes wonderful.

Setting up the appointment with Kinetico was quick and I got the total home water softener within a few days. The reps were on time and prompt when I needed service. They got what I needed and verified if the system was working or not. I had a good interaction with the installation team, especially with the plumber. My place is a brand-new build so before I used the water here, I got the Kinetico. But my previous apartment had hard water and it's a huge difference. Kinetico is the best water softener available and is extremely needed in Texas.

We've had a Kinetico soft water system for 30 years. Back when we first bought them, we had family members that had Kinetico, way back when we lived in the Chicago area. It was a portable one that we've moved four times with us until last year. It was a really good product and it proved itself very well. We set up one appointment recently and the sales reps weren't pushy. We knew what we wanted and they gave us what we wanted. They didn't ever try to push us to anything we knew we didn't need. They came when they were supposed to right on time. The techs also gave me some good instructions.
Even when we've had trouble in the past, we've had to have our old one worked on, and they were right there. Nothing ever took long to have them come out. My son and daughter-in-law just moved, so we recommended a Kinetico water system to them, and they just had one installed. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for. We've had really good experiences.

I have the whole house water filtration with Kinetico and I love it. It was expensive but I got my money’s worth. You know you're getting a good product when you're paying through the nose. I just got my Social Security so I had money. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to afford it. Clean water is the most important thing you can have to prevent Alzheimer's or Dementia and I place that high value in a good system. And Kinetico seems to be the best system I've seen. The water tastes clear and better. I've used my own TDS meter so I know it's clean. I know I'm showering with water that has no chlorine in it. And especially for COVID, I wanna make sure I'm healthy.

The vendor that I used in Pennsylvania was very easy to work with and they were able to schedule things online. They had a little app that you could do that with. The vendor that I currently use here in Ohio does not have that capability. But if I just call their office and they schedule us right away. We got water tests from three different companies and when it came down to the particulates and the chemicals that were in our water, Kinetico was the one that got it out the best. They had a better water test system.
Kinetico is your only choice. The representative was always positive and understanding, answered questions and was very knowledgeable about the products. I have a rental that has the same system that I have here in Ohio. The installation team in Pennsylvania was great because they took care of everything and rerouted a lot of different water lines so that they would fit properly. Since I got the system, the water is super soft so I don't have to worry about hard water buildup on my faucets and the damage that it does to my washer or even my refrigerator. Where I moved in Ohio, they had a high chlorine and high calcium deposit buildup. So, when we first moved in, all of our faucets were covered in nasty, cruddy grossness.
Thanks for the great review Veronia!
We do have an app that can be used to order filters and salt. Your Kinetico equipment must be installed before the app can be used.

I gave the reps my card at the home show and they called me. It was a great experience. The reps were very efficient. They came in and did a water test and showed me how bad my water was. The installers were two young guys and they were super nice. They took their picture when they were done and left the work area very clean. They were very qualified. I got the water system for our whole house. It was $7,000. It clears the whole system and keeps your water soft. When you shower, the water is good and your hair feels soft. You just flip a tap on your sink and drink your own water. It's convenient to have your water tap right in your kitchen. No more bottled water. That's bad for you. This is your water and it's all clear.
Kinetico is worth every penny. It's excellent. It's expensive but it works. It’s an unusual project and it wasn’t like you could compare prices. It was not like buying a TV or a commode. I've talked to a few people who have the system and they've all been good, so far. I love it. It's the best thing I ever did. My neighbors did it, too. They saw them at my house so they got nosy. It's one of the things you do when you can afford it. It was the right time for me.

I had a Kinetico sales rep come over and demonstrated the system. He did some tests on our water, showed me exactly what the readings were as far as the different levels of chlorine, and showed me how how the system would work if it was in place. Then it took me a month or so, but I eventually purchased the K5 Drinking System from him. It seemed like it was pretty easy to install, maintain and keep up with. And since having the system installed, I've had a rep come over twice to change filters. The first time was free and for the second time, they charged me. But they showed me how to do it, so I've done it myself since. With Kinetico, our water is much better than the standard tap water. It doesn't have a chemical smell and I can tell a difference whenever I'm just washing dishes versus getting the water out of the Kinetico faucet. Overall, our experience has been great.

We purchased the whole house system from Kinetico and we’ve been using them for 45 years. We like the ease of the product. We're retired so it's nice to have something that's not going to regenerate because of the time of day instead by how much water is being used. We love the way the system works. It’s excellent quality. This is one of the best and excellent systems you can buy on the market. It's a little pricey though.

The gentleman I bought the house from put the Kinetico softener in and the big chlorine tank. But I was out of salt. I looked at the paperwork and called Kinetico and they said there’s an office in the north side of Indy. I called and I talked to the girls and they were wonderful. I told them I wanted to start the system back up and they told me it was six bucks a month. I’ve never had a softener at home before and I have no idea how much salt I’m gonna use. I said I would pay for six bags and they said they would send a rep down.
Two guys came and they cleaned out the softener, put the salt in and educated me about what I got. They asked if I got heart problems and I told them I had four attacks and surgery. They told me I couldn’t drink the water in the sink because it was purified saltwater. My dad always told me that and he was an air conditioner guy and he always had a softener at home. But he had another faucet on the side for us kids to use and not drink the other big one. He did that back in the '60s and '70s. And I forgot about that. I thanked the reps for telling me and asked what my options were. The guy said they have a water softener system that they could put underneath my sink and it comes out to the right side. I told them I would pay in cash and asked if they could do it the next day. One of the guys said he would come back. He did and I paid him 3,100 and some tax and put in the system.
The system has been working like a dream and I use it every day for everything. I don't use the main water now at the sink. There's no chlorine or odor from the city water. That's the big difference. The guy said if I ever have a problem, they'll come and put a new filter in it or fix it. But it's self-maintaining and there are no leaks. I check it once every six months. I'll look down there and it's dry. It was a four-hour job by Kinetico. They came in clean, the floor was clean and they wore booties. They were very nice and answered questions. The system was installed the same day and ready to go. You can't beat that.

The rep was great. He was quick to get out there and very knowledgeable of everything. He was able to work with me on a few things, give me some good recommendations on where to place the system, what system was best, and answered all my questions very well. I got a softener, and we ended up putting in a reverse osmosis drinking water system as well. The price was very comparable and even cheaper than most other offerings we have around here. It was a good deal. Kinetico got the installs done very quickly and on short notice because it was a new build. It was only a couple weeks, and it would have been even sooner. They were willing to come out almost immediately, but they were not allowed in the house at the time.
Apart from adding salt to the system, I swap out the filters every couple of months and clean them. It's easy, and it does really well. I heard there's a lot of iron in the water in our area and not having any system at all, we would be in big trouble. We hardly have any iron issues. There's no staining except for a little whenever we're not cleaning the toilets as often or using that iron out stuff, but even then, it's easy to clean.

Kinetico was absolutely fantastic. My wife who was my girlfriend back then was complaining about her hair feeling brittle and not fantastic, so I called Kinetico and got a quote for a water system. They came out, did a test, and the rep was super professional, but also really down-to-earth. We talked and it was a lot more of just a man-to-man conversation. It was really relatable. I signed some paperwork, and they installed the system a couple of days later. Since the installation, I no longer see soap scum buildup in my shower. My shower head stays clean, and I'm not having to de-calcify it every four months. Also, my wife is not yelling at me that her hair is all nasty anymore, and the water tastes better in the house, not that I drink too much tap water.
I have recommended Kinetico to a few people and explained to them the process, what it cost me and what it was worth in the end. My cousin lives out in the country, and he's got a well. I told him that for a couple of thousand dollars of investment in his house, the system is worth putting in. He'll notice a big difference and he will question whether or not he could drink his tap water. The system is also something that he could take with him if you wanted or it adds a bit of resale value to the house. It's really low maintenance, at least for me, because I have city water to begin with.
I have a hard water filtration system that makes the water a little more pure. It removes a lot of the hardness, calcium buildup, and iron deposits. My upkeep is supposed to be flush a filter once every six months or replace the filter depending on which filter I have and make sure that my salt hopper is topped off. I've had the system going on two years now, and I've pulled the filter twice, which is way longer than I should have. However, my filter is usually clean, which tells me the quality of water coming into the system is not terrible. I bought 20 bags of salt when I first got the system, and I still have 18.
This is great, Christopher!

Everything was great with the installers and since then, our water is better tasting and has less chlorine taste.

The initial sales guy was phenomenal. He's been in the water industry for 30 some years, selling Kinetico for a good chunk of that. He was extremely knowledgeable. He came out and did our water test to make sure we had the right system size. The installation was seamless. We already had the soft water loop in the garage so they just had to tie into that. It was a quick deal. The install is nice, clean and compact overall. As far as under the sink goes, right off the bat, we had one little issue with the pressure in the system. They came back out within a day and made an adjustment on the system.
Kinetico is a good water system. In Arizona, we have hard water. It was an instant change on showers, laundry and the buildup of calcium on the sinks. The RO system for the drinking water is a night and day difference versus tap water. Kinetico is one of the most expensive systems on the market. But knowing that my parents had one installed for 15 years without any issues, it's worth it. My only complaint is when we call for service or for getting new filters for the RO system, I've yet to get somebody on the phone. It's leaving a voicemail. Sometimes it takes a day for them to get back on some stuff. It's not horrible, but it sounds like there's one person that handles repair and work orders.

This product will flood your house. This product has at least two design flaw I have found that will cause a slow leak and sudden failure and flood. First is it leaks from the diaphragm into the spring housing slowly from the water shock absorber due to insufficient design of a screw that passes through the diaphragm and is intended to sandwich it between 2 pieces of plastic. Second flaw is in the material and design used for the diaphragm. The diaphragm cracks and splits and ruptures catastrophically over time due to low quality rubber used in the diaphragm and bad design. Water hammer arrestors design to do the same thing will last indefinitely and this lasted about 10 years but flooded the kitchen when it failed causing damage to the cabinets and flooring.
Yes, like all manufactured products, Kinetico water treatment systems can experience wear and tear and even occasionally, warranted failure. The photos provided, including the one omitted; do not support the description of catastrophic damage. But any water using appliance does have the potential to cause catastrophic damage.
This item in question was brought to Kinetico's attention after its 10 year Manufacturer's Limited Warranty had expired.
Matt Cobabe of Cobabe Bros Plumbing requested that Kinetico provide him replacement product components along with new cabinetry. Kinetico advised Mr. Cobabe of the steps to take to complete the product's repair, process a potential warranty exchange and a potential insurance claim.
Mr. Cobabe's response was to again request that we simply provide him product, cabinetry and now flooring without question. His closing remark was 'bad reviews can kill a company'.
Certainly, Cobabe Brother's Plumbing has protocol for handling warranty exchanges and property damage and would never concede to such a demand.
Mr. Cobabe, please refer back to the email correspondence for next steps so that this matter can be resolved.

Getting my appointment set up and that first appointment were great. A lady named Mandy came and met me out of my house. She tested my water and let me know that we definitely needed to get a system. She walked me through everything right then and there. Then, we got to installation and the installation itself went really well, or so we thought. The gentleman stayed until very late at night just to make sure he could get it all done in one day, which was really cool. But four or five months in, our kitchen flooded all of a sudden. Water started spewing out the bottom of the pipes.
Kinetico came out and confirmed that they mis-installed an O-ring inside of one of the pieces of pipes, which caused it to burst because the water would get hot and cold. That was a big bump in the road. Then, they didn't turn it on and we found out several months later that this filtration was only filtering my outside hose spigot and none of the water inside of my house. They had been out three times to my home since and another company figured that out for us. My experience started off well but it's gotten progressively worse. The water test result said it was in the desired range but the water is extremely soft. I have some older in-laws that live with me who don't like it. We had a very nice salesman from Kinetico. He was very pleasant to talk with. He didn't seem to be pushing us into purchasing Kinetico, but he supplied us with plenty of information. We liked him. I'm happy with the water system to a degree. But I'm not completely satisfied. In a general water supply to the house, we have the Kinetico filter, and we use that water for showering, and washing clothes and dishes. Around the door to my shower, there is a lip there. The water collects in that lip. If I don't clean that lip with every shower, it will build up a red residue. That's the toxicity. So that toxicity isn't completely being taken away to my satisfaction. But the water that we drink is purified even further. So, I'm happy with that water. But there's still a question in my mind as to how safe are we with this water system and I'm not 100% guaranteed.
We called the serviceman to come because the faucet for our drinking water only allows about two gallons of water at a time and we came down to just a trickle. The water just stopped. We figured that we needed a new filter. It alleviated the problem at that time. But sometimes the water will still stop and you have to wait for the tank to refill again. It doesn't seem like it should be that way.

I was concerned that a water softener that's 21 years old that's been outside would have a limited shelf life. I purchased the same one that was in the house, just an updated version of the same model. It's working fine and it's very good.

The installation did not go well because they mixed up the cold and and hot water pipes, and it caused a big issue. The plumbers blamed it on Kinetico. But Kinetico blamed it on the plumbers. We couldn’t figure out on a new home build why we had a lot of grime on our sinks, faucets, and essentially tarnished a lot of the hardware on the sinks and faucets. So, it was truly a headache. It was horrific because everybody blamed each other. They eventually got it right, but it took time.
Hello Richard,
We reviewed this matter with your area dealer who also involved the builder. We are sorry for your experience with your new home build.
The builder, the Kinetico dealer and the plumber are all in agreement with you that there was a mix up with your cold and hot water lines. However, that is not a result of the installation of a water softener or the services provided by the Kinetico dealer.
We would ask that you call Kinetico Quality Water Systems of Indianapolis or your builder to gain an understanding of the plumbing lines and then respectfully ask that you adjust this review as the issues are not related to the installation of the Kinetico products, the performance of the Kinetico products or the services provided by your Kinetico dealer. Quite the opposite as the Kinetico dealer went through great expense in facilitating a resolution this matter.
Your area dealer remains committed to maintaining your confidence as a valued customer.

The sales rep had a very good presentation, and showing us how the water quality could be improved was impressive. That sold me on Kinetico, but on rethinking it, I would not have put the system in. It's rather complicated and expensive to maintain. They offered to pay for the replacement filters and the salt that I needed for last year, but the water we have here in Hixson, Tennessee is some of the best water. We don't get it from the Tennessee River. We get it from an underground aquifer. It's the second biggest one in Tennessee, and it has very clean and fresh water. We overdid it. Another thing is that the installation was somewhat complicated because they had to take out a part of the water system I already had in and replaced it with something they came up with.
Hi John,
We are glad to see that the independent, authorized Kinetico dealer has treated you so well, provided you a year of free materials at their loss and that your equipment is functioning as designed.
We are sorry that you do not feel you conducted your full due diligence before making your purchase.
We apologize, but are not certain how this translates to a 2 star review for Kinetico.
There is a great after market for these products. Perhaps you can recoup some of your investment through a private sale and get back to enjoying your great Hixson water.

We talked to someone from Kinetico over the phone, and setup was easy. The reps explained everything really well. Kinetico told us what day they were coming out to our cabin, and they came and looked everything up. It was simple. They did a water test, then they came out after installing our water treatment system. They also come out once a year and change the filters. We're on a well and our water treatment system cleans out the water very well. It tastes a lot better than it did before. Overall, Kinetico works really well, and I'd recommend it. They have a good product.

Kinetico's system looks good, but it wastes so much water. That's how the system works to remove some minerals from the water. And after I started using it, my water bill increased. And when I look at the sump pump, it discharges a lot of water. The filter is also expensive. The drinking system and softener filters are not available anywhere outside Kinetico. Those are ongoing expenses on the top of the initial payment for the system. That is something I would ask Kinetico to give more discounts. It was like a hidden cost, which comes every after three or five months, or depending on my consumption.
The water is different from the previous without using the system. Even from the taste, I can differentiate. For example, on the food that was cooked without the water system and with the same food with a filtered water, I could make some difference. And before using this softener, after I wash my body, I feel like I cleared my body. But after I use this system, it would look like I need to keep washing my body. It keeps my body smooth. For drinking, it looks like it's clean. I told my friends that were looking for a softener, but I told them that my concern is about the costs for the filter and the water bill because it wastes a lot of water just to filter one gallon of water. It has wasted four gallons.

When we built our house, we went to our local in-county furniture store and bought furniture and appliances and Kinetico was recommended by our salesman to save our water pipes and corrosion and appliances by having a water softener. It was very expensive, but we took a chance and we did it. For the first 36 years, I had no problem with them. We did have a couple of times when I thought I didn't have soft water. So we called for repair and we were told that we should have a new water softener. We got a new one, and it was the same kind from Kinetico because that one lasted so long. I was highly disappointed with the rep that came out to the house this last time. But I like the Kinetico products, so I bought it anyway. When Kinetico did the installation, they had to do some adjusting with the water valves and put their own stuff on it.

So, I updated the system and, physically, it's smaller, but it's doing a great job. This one uses a little less salt. But when it was installed initially, they told me it most likely would use less salt, but it was using a lot less salt and it wasn't installed right the first time. I had to get another tech out and he adjusted everything. I have very hard water and I never noticed a problem but I lifted up the lid where the salt goes and I'm like, "Jeez, this hasn't moved down very far." It's working fine now.

Having the system is nice 'cause before I only had a kitchen sink filter water. Now I can just go from my bedroom to my bathroom and fill up my water without having to run downstairs to the kitchen. The water before was actually building up and clogging our spigots. Also, we don't have the hardness we used to have. Kinetico did everything they promised and everything they were supposed to do. The sales guy was annoying. I wanted to get a non-electric water softener and have it installed a certain way or find a certain spot to install it. He kept talking about how I should get the system, and I already knew that. I already did the research and just wanted to have an installer come look and figure out how it was gonna go. The sales representative acted like a salesman as opposed to a rep to just take care of it. He also had handwritten notepads with all these testimonials. I highly doubt that anyone called 10 years later saying how great the product was. It was typical salesman-type stuff, and I didn't appreciate that.
I was irritated that I was already gonna buy the product and Kinetico sent that guy out. It was a waste of my time. I wanted talk to somebody else. This was a year ago, and I had to go back and forth for a bit, then I finally got ahold of a technician who came out and made an extra trip to see if things could work the way I wanted. The technician and installers from the company were awesome. I even tipped them for going above and beyond and putting the water softener where I wanted it and finding out a way to make it work by just doing some extra plumbing. Other than the sales guy, Kinetico is a great company. The system works fine, and I've enjoyed it. I haven't had any issues with it. Now, I'm getting ready for the annual service.

I got Kinetico's salt water softener, and we also put in their water purifying system for drinking water. They told me the day the tech would be there, then he came out. We had a unit already, and he removed our old one, then he installed the new one, ran the lines, and did a quick test. He showed me the installation, how everything functions, and provided me a test kit that we were to do after a couple of weeks to send back to Kinetico to ensure the system was working properly. It was very nice to have that verification that it's working. It wasn't just, "Hey, we installed it. You're good."
The first test that we sent back, Kinetico called and let me know the machine was not functioning. They sent out a tech who had to replace a part on the machine and then gave me another sample kit. I mailed that one back and it worked. Everything was functioning properly. After they fixed the system and it was working, I noticed a lot softer water that allowed more bubbling of the suds when I shower. I can tell there's a difference when I run out of salt now. I also use a lot less salt like they advertised.
On the water filtration system they put in, my family has loved that. When the salesman said, "You'll become water snobs," I laughed at it, but it's very true. My wife and kids have now become water snobs with the new filtration system. When they taste other water, they go "Ugh, this doesn't taste as good." When we compare the price tag to everything else, Kinetico is not the cheapest system, but overall, we get quality for it.

I found this guy from Southeastern Water Systems in Versailles, Indiana that sold Kinetico and he came down and took a look at our unit. He tried to fix it first and it didn't end up working. The water filter works well. What they do not tell you is that for every gallon of water that you filter, 1 to 2 gallons of water is wasted. I found this out accidentally when the unit had to be disconnected to move our water heater. I called Gordon Brothers (the company that installed the unit) to find out why a hose was placed into a drain pipe and why water was running continuously into the drain. It was then that I learned the truth about how the system works. Had I known how environmentally unfriendly this system is, I never would have installed it.
Hello Mark,
We are sorry for the confusion you have experienced. Water treatment processes are not intentionally hidden. All water treatment, regardless the brand or manufacturer; use water to make water.
Water softeners use brine solution to regenerate the resin that softens the water. That brine solution is then sent to drain. Problem water backwashing filters must use water to clean the media in the tanks so that they continue to filter. That is then sent to drain.
Reverse osmosis and distillation are the 2 best methods of producing drinking water. There is waste water to produce product water. The waste water containing the filtered contaminants is sent to drain.
This is still far more efficient and environmentally friendly than buying bottled water. Reverse osmosis is typically more efficient than distillation. And the Kinetico reverse osmosis is usually more efficient than other brands and offers more options and benefits that other brands.

With the Kinetico water softener system, the water is soft and we don't have any buildup at all. There's no buildup on the showerhead and on any of the fixtures. It's a lot easier to clean because soap activates much better. Then, I have a giant tank of carbon which sits in front of the softener. The carbon removes chlorine and prolongs the life of the softener. I also have a reverse osmosis drinking water system that creates drinking water, which is pure water, and then it feeds up into my refrigerator to a spigot. There's nothing better on the market than the K5, which is the Kinetico reverse osmosis system, especially for drinking water. It's phenomenal. And if you really want your life to improve, then get a Kinetico water softener. The only thing I wish I had done was get a larger one because my water pressure dropped ever so slightly.

I purchased their whole filtration system and the biggest satisfaction we have right straightforward is that we do not have that egg smell anymore. I know the difference between the soft and the hard water. It still feels a little slippery on your skin after you've rinsed off, but that's good. The system is doing its job.

They filled it up with salt when they left which was fantastic. I like that the system doesn't run off electricity. It's also less scum. I don't have to put so much work into cleaning it. It comes off better and my appliances don't have that hard water deposit on it. My water's softer. I get bubbles when I take a shower and I do a bubble bath. Before, I don't get bubbles.
The process of building it inside my garage was clean and one can't even tell it's there. They also called me a month then three months later to ask me how it was going and how I liked it. If I were to move out of my home, they would come pick that up for me and install it in my new home. It is a little spendy, but it's worth the money. I have referred three people to Kinetico. I told them that they're quick and proficient, and they got a good payment plan if they need one.

Our water now is 100% better. I saw the difference as soon as I put soap on my hair in the shower. As soon as I take glasses out of the sink, they're clearer. One year after installation, I finally have soft water. It seems the "shop" had to install a disc into the system to match the hardness the salesman verified. This disc was never installed and my water (unknowingly) was still hard. The salesman never asked me if I wanted the job inspected (permit pulled) and therefore would add $100 for the permit. I'll get back to that. When the install guys showed up, they tried to convince me of where the main water line came into the house. I told them where, they tried it their way and I was proven right. Now I have busted up drywall over this. When trenching under the driveway, they ran out of gas and began prepping to leave. I said the gas station is right down the street, a 1/4 mile away.
As they went on their way I asked them if they were coming out the next day, or when. They said the office will call me. I was informed by the office the next visit will be one month out. You can imagine how livid I was. The first crew did install the reverse osmosis system under my kitchen sink, but that was it. The guys did not say anything about the unit to educate me. I had to look on Youtube to learn how to turn on & charge the system.
How I found out my water is still hard is no silky feeling on my skin with soap use and from the mister line I installed on my A/C condenser, there was a heavy deposit over time of calcium. I called about 1 week after my 1 year warranty expired to request for them to check out my problem. They wanted to charge me, I fought it claiming the system had not worked from the day of install due to an error on their part. The kid that came over was an idiot. Because his tests proved the cold was partially soft and the hot was not at all, he claimed there must be a second main coming to the heater avoiding the softener. I am a former licensed plumber and know darn well any home has only one main coming in. So the next tech comes over to assess even further. He discovers the disc issue and explains how the shop dropped the ball. After his work, I finally have soft water.
I am not done yet. As I said before about not being offered a permit, I found out it must be performed, so I requested for Kinetico to pull the permit. The dig crew had to come back twice to get the trench to 12" deep in solid rock most of the way. The inspector did not like the depth or how the pipe was assembled the first inspection visit. They also had to remove the rock and back fill the trench with play ground sand.
While all this is going on, I discovered their communication to be the worst of any company I have dealt with. They would never be professional and call me to let me know when a visit will happen, they just show up. I have to call and force info from them. The vibe I get from this company is "we have your money now so, we'll get to you when we're good and ready" I would have installed the system from another manufacturer myself if not for a motorcycle crash. I need soft water for my skin and needed it then 'NOW'. It killed me to pay someone else to do what I used to do. FYI: need parts? Kinetico is proprietary technology and protected. They have a monopoly on parts and service. Other manufacturers have parts available from multiple companies. STAY AWAY FROM KINETICO San Antonio

I drink the reverse osmosis water every single day and it tastes good. I'm extremely happy with everything. The only portion was a little unexpected was the cost to replace filters. But it's hard to close a sale when you're telling somebody the cost would be $400 a year. If you're doing all four, then it's 800 bucks every year, depending on your usage.
The water pressure through the system that they have on creates the kinetic energy needed to run the system. So, I'm not drawing on my power usage here at the house. All the other systems, I had to have power because my system's outside on the side of the home. So, it's right next to where my water main comes into the house. And if it was going to be another system and it was placed in the same area, I would have had to have electrician come in and bring power if I didn't have power close enough for them. That was a nice piece as well, just being in an area in the world where everyone could use to be as sustainable as possible. And the system is something that gets used every time we turn the water on inside of our home. So, it's very important.
Kinetico's installers had to come twice to get the equipment completely installed. But I stayed out of the way and they did what they had to do. It was pretty painless and the product takes up a little bit of space underneath the sink for the reverse osmosis. The installers also explained well on what it costs to buy those filters that come with the reverse osmosis system. There are four different slots for filters and you can use one or you can use four. I chose which ones I wanted when I got the system. One filter puts minerals and nutrients back in the water, so it helps the taste of the water. Then the other one’s a high VOC filter, which is important. That really gets your water clean. The filters can be used for six to eight months and they cost 400 bucks. If you value your water, then it's worth it.

The Kinetico sales rep wasn't pushy and was honest that their prices are a little higher, but that their product is a lot better than most of the other companies that we had come over to quote. The installation was quick and easy. They did it all in one day. I like the system. I haven't had any issues with it. It's a nice thing because of the technology. Our water will still be softened even if the power is out. It's a good product and they provided good service.

We got a whole house system and an under-the-sink system, and we got an additional alkalinizing filter system or filters from Kinetico. The installation team did a great job. When we go over to friends' homes that live in the same neighborhood, I find that I like my water 10 times more than theirs. The taste is different and the feel seems different. We got a softener and a reverse osmosis system from Kinetico. They came with two guys to install the equipment and run the lines. One of the lines was a little bit difficult to run, but that was due to our build and not really anything to do with the installers. We have to change the one filter on the softener, then we have to put salt in the softener. The reverse osmosis has an indicator on it and we have to change the filters when that indicator goes through. We have a family of four, so it lasted almost a year before we had to change the filters in the reverse osmosis. The softened water is really good for your skin and your hair. Also, we were on really hard city water before coming out here but with the reverse osmosis, it's like having bottled water coming out. I'd recommend Kinetico. We had an easy install and the product pretty much runs itself with the exception of the replacements, but it indicates when you need to do that.

I had a Culligan and it wasn't working. I called Kinetico and they put the power head in and that didn't do anything. So, they came and took it and I got a whole water system now. I love the water softener system. It comes in the house and chlorinates to water, and then goes into a big 125-gallon storage tank. When it comes out it de-chlorinates it and then runs through the softener and into my house. I had a couple of issues trying to adjust it, but they were right out here. Kinetico is an awesome company.

The sales rep was informative, and installation was extremely smooth. The system is a little on the more expensive side, but the value is there. So far, it gives us peace of mind that the water is of high quality for my family and I don't have to think about it much. It's very easy to maintain and it's just there in the background doing what it needs to do.

I called Kinetico, I knew what I wanted, and they were out here the next day installing the system. It was fabulous. The tech was here four hours. I got a whole home system and two of the under-sink drinking water systems, and I love them. My only complaint is that with the drinking water systems, Kinetico should find a way to make the water cold. Other than that, my water feels nicer. I have heavy iron water, and while it's not perfect, the system has made a big difference in that. The systems are easy to maintain too. I have to regenerate my tanks and I can do that on my own.

We rent our system through Gordon Water Service, and there's an extremely high turnover there. Setting up the appointment was a botched process because the salesman who came out to our house ended up quitting two days later. It was my second time using Kinetico with the same company, and each time, it was a brand-new installation guy who didn't know what he was doing. They tried to come out and rectify the problem, but they had already sent me someone who should not have been installing something independently. I plan to get rid of the system as soon as I can and I'm switching to another one. I like the product, but it's expensive and I've been told there are others out there that can do the same job for a fraction.

Setting up the appointment with Kinetico was super smooth and very convenient. They had very pleasant and knowledgeable staff. The techs showed up on time and cleaned up after themselves. It was a good experience. I got the dual tank water softener and RO system. I like that Kinetico’s is water drip and it doesn't have any electronic parts. So, it was not dependent upon power, which was a positive thing. This is the second one I purchased from them and it works as advertised. The water is soft and the RO water is crystal clear. They're a pricier system but it's worth it. You get what you pay for.

I purchased Kinetico because of their reputation for longevity. The cost of my unit was approximately $2k at the time of purchase. Living in an area with only slightly hard water and no other issues, I was led to believe that the unit would last 15-20 years. At 9 years old, the main control valve failed, and I was informed that the resin in the softener tanks needed to be replaced. I saw the gooey resin mess inside the tanks. A rebuild of the 2 tanks was quoted at a stunning $1,500! Since there is some labor involved in rebuilding a tank, I also requested a quote for 2 new tanks. An absolutely jaw dropping $3k!
All of the assemblies and connections outside of the tanks are built out of cheap plastic. The gaskets inside the assemblies sitting on top of the resin tanks are exceedingly cheap, and I was advised that the gaskets cannot be replaced unless one gets a full tank rebuild at minimum. Unbelievable! My best advice is to stay away from Kinetico. Expensive to buy, expensive to service/replace and poor longevity. And the cost of the salt that Kinetico dealers sell is a ripoff as well.
Hello Richard,
The unit you purchased is installed with a 5 year Manufacturer's Limited Warranty. We have products that have double the Limited Warranty. We reviewed the history with your installer. Here is their response:
This is a Signature 735. We originally agreed with him to only replace resin for $425 but gave him the other options of rebuild and replace.
He came into the store last Wednesday (the day before we were going to reinstall the system with new resin) and asked several questions about the rebuild. Mr. Stan approved the rebuild which we have done and re-installed the system this morning.
The $3K was a new softener.
We did not tell him the main control valve failed...the Mach Bypass had failed.
We told him all of the "wear" parts in the control valve would be replaced in the rebuild along with the resin and brine valve in the salt tank.
I gave him a 3 year parts and one year labor warranty. He seemed satisfied with all that. I just spoke with the Tech that reinstalled it this morning and he said Mr. Stan was fine and everything went well. I'm surprised he left this review.

It appealed to us that Kinetico doesn't use electricity. We buy the potassium instead of the normal stuff for our water softener. So it uses less and the price of that stuff has gone from $21 a bag up to $35 a bag. We only use about one bag a month instead of two. I haven't noticed any type of reduction in the water being soft, so I'm very pleased. The Kinetico reps were very helpful and told us exactly what we needed to do. They were able to install it the next day and that pleased us a lot. The other thing I like about Kinetico is it takes up less space. My previous system had two tanks in the garage and Kinetico only has one. It only softens the water as it's used. So it doesn't require the transfer of something from one tank to another.

We had a Culligan reverse osmosis system in our house in New Jersey, which we were perfectly happy with. But our builder strongly recommended that we go to Kinetico. They had worked with them in the past on new construction. We could have gone any way we wanted to, but we decided to go with their recommendation. I spoke with a rep on the phone. We were living in New Jersey at the time we were building our home.
I had interactions with the guys that did the installation of the system and they were great. They came out and they did their thing. We built a new home and they installed it while the house was being built. They asked questions before they did stuff to make sure they were installing them in the right place. Not all contractors ask questions before they do stuff. Some of them do things and then ask questions. When we had some water supply issues with our refrigerator that could have been the fault of the Kinetico unit, which turned out it wasn't, they came out and doublechecked their work. They were terrific to work with. They went beyond the call of duty. We had some other water problems with appliances. It's hooked up to the refrigerator and three other faucets in the house. Whatever we needed, they delivered on it.
Kinetico is an expensive system. In principle, it's the same unit as the one we had in New Jersey. It's a reverse osmosis water purifier. But this one has a larger capacity and it works at a higher pressure. It will filter more water per unit time than the Culligan unit would. It has a storage tank and if the tank ever runs out, it will replenish it faster than the one we had.

So every faucet except for the external ones is hooked up to the water softener. Also, our drinking water is reverse osmosis water. Since I've had the system, it's night and day as far as hard water. Now, it feels normal and it doesn't use very much salt. Every three months, I have to add a 40-pound bag of salt. And for the reverse osmosis system, I change the filter once a year. I went with a soft water system and a regular filter. The installers were good guys. Working with Kinetico was easy. Everybody was good.

Our house was a new build and so as soon as we were ready for the water softener, Kinetico came and installed it. So, timing was great and they were fantastic. After the installer put it in, he walked me through everything and I didn't have any questions when he left. They did the reverse osmosis thing for us and it's so good. It's the best water we've ever had and I love the drinking water in the kitchen. I also love the soft water in the shower. I could not be happier with the system.

I've always had good luck with Kinetico's techs. They are very responsive when I have an issue. They come out within a day or so and sometimes, on the same day. Also, everything seems to be working fine with the system. I don't get any more rust stains or anything like that.
Hi Dan,
Thanks for sharing this message. I would like to temper this that a normal service lead time is 3 - 7 days. Post covid era, most of our dealers are short handed.
We appreciate you.Diana

We have well water at our cottage and it was discolored and had a rusty look to it. They said it was a lot of tannins in the water and it was probably safe to drink, but we didn't want it staining the laundry and the toilets. And it looks gross. The reps came out, explained everything and answered all my questions. They were helpful. We're happy with the Kinetico system. It’s great for well water because sometimes there are issues with well water. And it's nice to have something in place that can get it to where you want the water to be.

I've had a Kinetico system for years, and I just got a brand-new one put in last year. Install was slick as a button, and the system goes all the way through the home.

I wanted to get the filter changed but they don't have anybody to cover it. They gave me a day next month on the 5th of July. But I'm not using the filter anymore because the water doesn't taste good and I'm just buying water cases. That's a hassle. But overall, everything has been okay. I had an issue once and I called in. They told me that a guy would call me within 10 minutes and he did. We did a live video call and he fixed my issue. Kinetico's system is really easy to use. For service, I can just call them and they come over and fix it. They were really helpful and the product is good.

Kinetico's reps came into our house and did a test. Then, they gave us information on the results and did a sales pitch. They did very well and we ended up purchasing a water softener and the reverse osmosis faucet. Their installation took several hours and it went very smoothly. Someone came and put the equipment in in the garage, then he did the thing through the granite and put in the reverse osmosis faucet. The installer was not insanely friendly, but he did his job. He also told us about changing the filter every year at the faucet and about the salt. We signed up for the salt delivery and one time, they opened up the equipment and found that we were out of salt. We hadn't checked. So, they put a couple of bags in for us. Since we started using Kinetico, the water's softer and there's less buildup at our faucet.

I had a good experience with the sales rep of Kinetico. I upgraded the water softener and iron filter. I was happy.
Hi Shad,
Thanks for sticking with the brand and going with the upgrade. Wishing you many years of great water!

We called Kinetico and asked for the system. We were looking for a saltless system. We didn't wanna change the salt in the tank all the time. But the guy came out and explained to us how that works. It doesn't purify the water for the whole house if you don't do the salt, so he got us all set up with a great system, tested the water in the house, showed us the pH levels, showed us with it, without it. He was only here for half an hour, but we learned a ton about it all, so it was great.
The installation was great. One guy showed up. He was here for an hour and a half. In and out. The guy called and followed up 30 days later, wanted to see if we had any questions. The little spigot that was by the sink that has the extra purified water was a smidge off center with the rubber washer underneath. So we told the rep, and he said, “It shouldn't be like that. I'll get a guy out.” The guy came out the next day, was there for 20 minutes, fixed it, in and out. No bill.
We had to get the three filters changed in the system under the sink. You gotta change them every year. We hit our year, and I drove down to the office. A lady walked me through how to do it. They had a sample there. She showed me how to click them in and out. That saved us 100 bucks from instead of having somebody come out and do it. We have soft water now for the whole house, which has been nice. We got the extra filter for the kitchen, so better water for the showers, and cleaner clothes when we do laundry. Look into Kinetico and see if the system works for whatever house and money you have. They are the best guys we've dealt with.

I got Kinetico's osmosis product. I like it. It works good. It's the second one. We've had one for several years. We had to get another one because they couldn't get filters for the one we had. We got a lot better water pressure with the newer one. As far as them getting it set up, they were very good, except I didn't like the first installer. He didn't put it in right.
