My Kenmore 19.2 cu ft chest freezer stopped working (bad compressor) less than 20 months after purchase. I paid 1400.00 for a product that should last longer. Not to mention the nearly 1500.00 of beef that spoiled. Talk about insult to injury and having to pay to have hauled off. 4000.00 loss total! Called Lowe's only to get run around and given warranty number. No help there as well. Never again will I purchase Kenmore product. I shouldn't have to call warranty department after 20 months. Poor workmanship and service.

Buyer beware!! Purchased an upright freezer with extra warranty. It died and Sears sent out a repairman. Cool! It is the freezer defrost heater. Easy! Tech ordered the part. Here is where the issues start. It has been 5 months and no part. They have canceled the part the tech has ordered and sent other parts that were not correct. They say the part is backordered and they are at the mercy of the manufacturer. Sears PartsDirect website says the part is “In stock”, but it is backordered? What?! They just altered my status page and the original tech order part number is now gone as well as the part “cancelled” wording for each time they cancelled it. They tried to tell me the tech places the order for a heat shield,..I told them, "NO. Your people changed it." They argued they did not. They will tell you they will “escalate” the issue they will not. Again…5 months of this.

I finally get someone who doesn’t have the noise of a HUGE call center in the background and they are acting like I am the issue. So the tech cannot get sent out without a part…The part never shows up so you reschedule…so your appliance never gets fixed. I requested a new freezer since they cannot fix it…They sold me an appliance that there is no part for. I am told they cannot replace the freezer because the part is back ordered. See the scam! There is no part! There is no escalation! Nobody will call you! Nobody will update you! They sit back and just hope you give up and eat it. They finally told me they will NOT send me a replacement freezer unless the tech annotates there is no part to fix it with and he suggests they send me/reimburse me for the cost of the freezer. BUT wait…The tech won’t come out without a part. Hmmm….see the scam!!

The poor tech has been out over 4 times twice for a random part they changed and sent. Now he comes out today and I need to get the tech to tell Sears it cannot be repaired because there is no part available. The last time the tech came out he said Sears needs to send me a new freezer and that this is ridiculous so hopefully, again, he has nonissue updating the work order as I said. Fingers crossed Sears doesn’t come back and say this part is on backorder so they cannot replace it. Never again will I purchase a Kenmore appliance not even through a big box store. Why? It all goes back to Sears and any warranty will still have to get those “backordered” Parts. I cannot be the only one this has happened to. I feel they know the issue and just keep selling them knowing they can’t fix it.

The frost free freezer is more like an ice machine. The rubber gasket does not seal on the top, due to the new POOR design. Getting a repairperson out has been a major task. I just get automated responses. He was here once and only heated the gasket and said that should work. I have had Kenmore appliances for years and now? Worse is the customer service!

So disappointed and dissatisfied. This is for a Kenmore upright freezer Model 111.21202910 purchased through Sears. Bought it in Nov. 2019. Broke down in May 2021. Sears tech. came out to look at it. Said it is the fan and when he moved a wire the fan worked, one day later still not freezing, another tech. came and said it might be the thermostat and the cost is $400, which is half of the price of the freezer or a full price for a smaller one, just do not buy Kenmore freezers and if you do, buy the extended warranty or you will lose a lot of money.

I love my upright freezer. Easy to see and reach food. Only thing that maybe can be improved is the soft-service door. It is a bit unstable flimsy. Maybe by design door is light-weighted to allow some freezing for butter/ice cream, wine etc., but it flops down too easily. Perhaps a better latch will be the least cost effective.

I bought this freezer to store not only extra store-bought frozen food, but also for bulk-cooked meals. It has performed admirably, quiet; efficient; low operating cost; easy to defrost (chest); space-saving design. 15 years of trouble-free operation; and counting.

The ice maker broke a year into it. The outside of the appliance rust easily. Do not see keeping this 5 years. Never another Kenmore! It is little wonder Sears has gone out of business! The brand name Kenmore stood for quality long ago. Sad really, if they would have kept producing quality they may still be around!

Extra freezer has been a very useful buy for me, Being a frugal shopper, like to stock up on fresh vegetables in season for use in times when either not available or high priced in off season. Additionally an avid gardener, home grown vegetables my pride, joy & accomplishments stored.

This 17cubic foot frost free upright freezer was purchased in 2012 and has held vegetables and meats that fed hundreds of people in my community. When I was bringing it home it fell over because it was not secured properly. I was fearful that it had been destroyed. I managed to lift and secure it well. I have only changed the lightbulb inside once. It has been a wonderful appliance to own. It has stored donations for a soup kitchen and hungry family members. If it could talk I believe it would say, ‘I like feeding the people.” Kenmore last longer than any appliance purchased by me. My freezer has allowed many meals to be prepared and fed many people.
