Initially, we were told that our move would take about a week. We brought two weeks' necessities with us, just in case. We did not receive our furniture/ household goods for 4 LONG weeks. In the meantime, we had to make numerous calls to International Van Lines to find out where our shipment was, but with no luck. It was not till we wrote to the CEO of the company twice that we finally got some response. When our household goods FINALLY arrived, there were over 100 items that were damaged, many beyond repairs. The insurance company that International Van Lines used was equally poor. The claiming process was a nightmare, and they ended up covering for next to nothing after many months of frustration. Even with the basic insurance what they paid was shameless for shattered entertainment set glass, broken printer, artwork, and 100+ other items.
Hello Susie,
I am very sorry to read this, and hope we can help resolve these issues.

My family moved from NY to FL last month, and we hired IVL. Our decision to work with IVL was based on a few things, with reputation being number one. They also provided us with the moving dates we needed and the cost was fair. I thought their communication was good, and the movers did an excellent job packing & loading all of our stuff. We had a great experience with them and would use them again. I have also recommended them to a few people already.
Thank you for your feedback. We greatly appreciate your review and feel free to reach out with any questions.

I’ve used IVL in the past for an out-of-state move. They did an excellent job with my first move, so I gave them a shot on the second one. The move was more complicated this time since I’ve accumulated more stuff and had a car in the mix. We ended up paying them to pack everything because we didn’t want to deal with it. They packed our three-bedroom house in about 7 hours, and everything was loaded the same day. I was very impressed with how they worked and got the job done quickly and efficiently. My delivery also went well, with no issues regarding damage or loss of items. I think IVL is a great moving company, and I would definitely use them again and refer them to anyone moving out of state.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to leave us your feedback. We appreciate the kind words and happy to see that things went well with your move.

International Van Lines was my first choice because my parents used them last year for their move, and it went well. I called the same salesperson, Alex, who dealt with their move, and he was great! His communication and the way he explained things made me feel comfortable through the stressful time of moving. I had no choice but to ensure my move went well because I was starting a new job on a specific date. The guys did a great job with the move, and they met my timelines and provided all of the services they sold me on, so I would use them again!

I hired International Van Lines for my out-of-state move (2000 miles). It was a big move that required a lot of planning, prepping, and organization. Finding the right moving company to handle my move was a daunting task. I had a conversation with half a dozen moving companies, which all promised me the world and told me whatever I wanted to hear. The reality is they were trying to get my money because, after research, I read oceans of nasty things.
IVL maintains one of the best reputations in the industry, and they were easy to work with. Getting a quote took minutes; my sales rep Justin was good with getting back to me, and the movers showed up at my door within the requested time frame. This move was for a 6 bedroom home that required a lot of packing. It took the moving crew three days to get everything done, which they had estimated, and my delivery was done within a week's time. The IVL team on delivery was a different crew, but equally, they did a great job and were a delight to work with. They set up each room, unpacked all my boxes, and we settled in the new home quickly. I was very impressed with the level of service I received from International Van Lines and would consider them again for a move.
Thank you for your feedback, we greatly appreciate the kind words, and feel free to reach out with any questions.

I gave a good synopsis of how much was gonna be taken from the boxes but it weighed over. I don't know if it was in the contract with International Van Lines that after the initial weigh-in, if it was anything over, I would have to cover that. Also, the crew had to switch all the items from a big truck to a smaller truck on a U-Haul truck. So those were two expenses that I was not expecting. The price in the end changed by almost an additional $1,000 so I wasn't too happy about that. But the crew was good and very communicative.

I moved to California from New York for a job opportunity. It was a company-paid move, and I was on time crunch. The company I work for gave me a list of three movers they recommend, and IVL was at the top of the list, so I gave them a shot. They made the moving process very easy for us. Getting a quote took minutes, and booking a moving date, I did right online. The movers showed up on time and did everything they needed to do to ensure I was out of my house the same day. My delivery was done in a week, and I had no problems throughout the process of the move. I was happy everything turned out and would use them again.

I spent about a month researching moving companies and came across IVL, listed as the top-rated mover on the Forbes website, so I called them. After speaking with various companies and getting a few quotes, I decided on IVL based on my level of comfort. I was not looking for the least expensive mover but the one who could perform according to the plan and IVL did that. They were straightforward to work with and got the job done so they get 5 stars from me.

The running theme from other reviews of a lack of communications is true still. The rep told me it would likely be 5 days. At two weeks of no communications. I emailed for an update. They acted like I was being unreasonable and emailed me the timeframe of 3 to 21 days that is on the quote. I pointed out I hadn't heard from them in two weeks and that 21 days is three weeks so they were up against their own deadline. The next day my move was scheduled. I swear they forgot about me. When I did get my belongings the boxes were wet and my bed frame had clearly been dragged and badly damaged. The water wasn't just a little bit. One of my plastic bins that wasn't damaged had standing water on top. It wasn't raining when they picked up or delivered my items. Maybe a leak in the roof or warehouse? Never again.
We sincerely apologize for your experience and would like to have an opportunity to make things right. It's never our intention for a move not to go according to plan. I will notify the GM and I will have him reach out so we can discuss the details and work on a resolution.

Moving to another state is stressful on many levels, and there is a lack of quality moving companies, making it a challenge. After researching movers for a few weeks, I randomly came across International Van Lines on the Forbes website. They are listed as the number one mover in the US, so I called them. I spoke with a sales rep named Christian. He set up a virtual tour and gave me a binding rate. The cost was about $5500 to move a 3 bedroom home, which I thought was good. I booked my moving date for a couple of weeks later and the guys showed up in a nice IVL truck and proceeded to pack all of my stuff. The movers were great! They were in and out pretty quickly and got the job done with no damage or any complaints. My experience with IVL went well, so they got a positive review from me, and I will be referring them.

I used International Van Lines back in 2015, 2020, and recently for a move from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City. My company paid for the move this time, so I had them provide professional packing on everything along with premium insurance coverage. My move took place on October 7th and was delivered to my new home on October 9th. They were good with the timing and provided me with everything that was part of our contract.
The moving team, Steve, Fluke, Irvin, and Dell, did a fantastic job. I spoke to each of them personally as they were working and they were a great group of guys that take pride in the level of service they offer. Also, My salesperson Christian and customer service rep Danisha were very kind and easy to work with. They ensured my wife was kept up to date with everything going on. All of my goods were recorded and without any loss or damage. This is the third time I've used IVL, and I would use them again if I were planning a move.

They waived the shuttle fee which is a good start. Let's see if that is actually the case upon delivery.

Terrible experience. Had a cross country move booked with this company and they blatantly LIED and told me that they would be able to deliver my items in a truck under 53 feet (I live in a gated community so made it clear before booking with them that this would be a requirement). I passed on other moving companies specifically because I was told that this move could be done and would not require additional delivery shuttles etc. Upon my move day, the movers told me that my point of contact Christian and Danisha ** blatantly lied to me and that the delivery would indeed require a shuttle which means over $500 of extra fees. When I contacted Danisha, she was incredibly rude and dismissive and told me she would contact me a week later. What a joke. How is this acceptable customer service, to blatantly LIE to your customers?! Will post far and wide about what a terrible, unreliable and rude company this is. They will never see another dollar from me!

I hired International Van Lines (IVL) for our move from Houston to Ft. Lauderdale, including packing a three-bedroom house, garage items, and patio furniture. IVL handled packing and furniture assembly. The movers stuck to the schedule, finishing within a week. Compared to other movers, IVL's reputation stands out for good reason. I was pleased with the outcome of the move and would choose to work with the people at IVL again if I needed to.

Moving sucks, and finding a moving company sucks even more. There are scams after scams in the moving industry, and it's horrifying. I spent about a month researching companies, mostly brokers, which I didn't want. I finally came across International Van Lines listed as the number one mover on Better Homes and Gardens and I can see why. They did a great job with customer service, providing me a cost quickly and getting my move set up in a short time. They packed and loaded our three-bedroom house into a few houses, and the delivery was done cross-country in a week. I had no hiccups or complaints regarding the service.
The only pain in the butt is they will not accept credit cards for the balance of the move. I would also like to thank my sales rep Alex, who was great! He spent a lot of time with me and made sure to relieve all of the stress I was dealing with. I think IVL is probably one of the best movers in the US, and I would recommend them to anyone moving out of state or cross country.

I don’t spend much time leaving reviews for companies, but IVL deserves some praise considering how well things went for my complicated move. I have a rather large home, with tow cars, grand piano and tractor. They managed to get things packed and loaded in a couple of days and did a great job. The move took about 11 days from New York to LA and everything went well with the delivery part of the move.

Update 11-3-23: IVL reached out to us to apologize and provide compensation. We learned that the bill of lading signed at delivery should have included all the missing items. They also vowed to follow up on all the issues to prevent anything like this from re-occurring for future customers.
Original Review: Nov. 2, 2023
Shipper Beware! We had 31 of 297 items missing at delivery and Baker insurance, recommended by IVL, would not cover missing items. They would also only cover what IVL packed. IVL packed everything in just 1 day instead of the allocated 2 days by throwing everything into large boxes. Silverware and fragile items were thrown in under heavy pots, resulting in damages. In a hurry to finish, tall items were left uncovered and were damaged.
READ THE INVENTORY LIST AND THE SYMBOLS BEFORE YOU SIGN OFF! We naively trusted the packer/mover and signed without asking what the acronyms for each item meant. The inventory indicated PBO (Packed by Owner) for most of the boxes, even though they packed them. The box descriptions did not list content, just box size, making it difficult to identify upon arrival and to claim for insurance. ALL furniture items were marked “SC5” for “Scratched Left”. If you do not know your final destination at pickup, choose another mover. Our items were stored at the IVL warehouse during a historic flood in their area and many items, including furniture, had mold damage. They denied water intrusion and Baker does not cover atmospheric conditions.

I called International Van Lines and got some information about what the process would look like and how much it might cost. Then, I talked to a couple of other companies and I felt like IVL were the best value and that they were very trustworthy. After I talked to one of the representatives, we agreed on a date. I FaceTimed with someone from their organization and I walked through my house and showed them the things that would be part of the move. On moving day, the guys got there a little before eight o'clock. It was a team of three who were kind of dedicated to that truck and they had two additional team members come over from Atlanta. It took them four hours to pack us up and they clearly knew exactly what they were doing.
There were some issues that didn't really come to light until later, though. There was a little bit of an underestimation of what we had and they misunderstood a couple of categories of box sizes and how many of each we would have. I had up until three business days before the move to add things and I did that. But I had a fairly large closet that I had put 11 packed boxes. There were two pieces of furniture that were still in boxes, two small pieces of furniture, and a wardrobe box, and a vacuum cleaner. I showed that to the movers so they knew that everything in that closet was to go.
But after they had left, I asked my husband if he'd seen the vacuum cleaner and he hadn't. I called our daughter who still lives in that house and she opened that closet door and they'd forgotten everything in there. They couldn't have gotten it on the truck anyway because the truck was completely packed. Other than that, they were incredibly efficient and I was impressed with all of the personnel that I worked with. I got a real sense of professionalism from them. The three men who were the primary moving team were exceptional.

Jordan, the gentleman that I worked with, was very good and responsive. He always answered my questions and called me back or texted me. He was very good at setting up the actual move. But that was where the positive things ended. I was supposed to have a moving van come and load our things and it was supposed to have four or five guys. They thought they could do it in a day and a half but they didn't come on my requested date. They came the next day, which wasn't a huge deal, but we organized things for that date. They showed up in a box truck with two guys that were supposed to load our house and they didn't arrive till 4:00 in the afternoon. They worked hard. But it was not what I expected at all.
They were not able to get it done in the time that they were supposed to because there were only two guys. Things were through the door, but they got everything in. They took it to Houston and I was hoping they would just leave it on the box truck because they packed it really nicely. But they didn't and they reloaded it on another truck and we were the last people on that truck. They couldn't get it all on the truck. So they had to put the balance on another truck. I had two trucks coming and I had no idea what was on the first truck and what they couldn't get on and it was on the second truck. So, it was just a mess. It took almost over a week for us to get it. This is our 11th move and it was the worst by far. The first truck didn't get here till 2:00 in the afternoon, and then the second truck came at 8:30 at night.
When they were unloading things and I saw this thing that looked like a gurney, but it wasn't. So I asked them what that was and they had broken a granite piece, the waterfall that both of the ends were totally snapped off. I started unpacking and they did not use one shred of bubble wrap on anything. I had so much breakage. You can't put a ceramic item in the bottom of a box with one sheet of paper around it and then pack stuff on it and not expect breakage. I've never experienced this before and it really was due to the packing. Now that I have everything unpacked, I'll be filing a claim.
I was told that you had a chance to speak with one of the managers in regard to a resolution. We sincerely apologize if we didn't live up to expectations, and we will do what's needed to make things right. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we look forward to resolving it for you.

This mover is incompetent, misleading, and NEVER communicates after your items are picked up. Their salesperson told me that 9 days is about the longest I should expect my move to take, so I marked my first available delivery date and move-in date based on that information. That date has came and went, and both of my contacts refuse to answer the phone, voicemails, or emails. The only information I was able to get is on the customer service line, where I am repeatedly told that "the truck is still loading" with no specific details.
My items have been sitting in the same truck at the original location for 11 days now. They also hired a cheap subcontractor to load my items, and they fraudulently claim that they are a carrier when they are obviously brokering random moving companies and trying to hide it. Never use IVL for a move. They will ghost you after your items are picked up and will leave you in the dark about what's going on, because they likely don't even know where your stuff is themselves.
I read your review and first want to apologize for any miscommunication. The first available date for delivery is not the same as the delivery date. The reason why we ask for the first available date is so we don't show up early and you're not available to receive your household goods. However, we will still take full responsibility if that is not communicated to you properly. I will have my manager reach out to you to discuss the chain of events and see what we can do to resolve the issues.

I contracted IVL to move my belongings from the US to Turkey. It wasn't a huge shipment, 48 boxes and no furniture. It took 6 1/2 months to get my shipment. During this time, getting them to respond to my emails was difficult and calls were impossible. I was also given information one time that proved to be false the next, it happened often. And, after each long pause between email exchanges, they came back with stories telling me the person I was communicating with had a serious personal issue to deal with that caused the delay. This happened three times, twice with the same person.
The difference between IVL offices in the US and the local company they contracted here (Turkovaz) was night and day. Turkovaz gave me updates every step of the way and rushed to get my shipment through customs and delivered to me earlier than they estimated. And, I was going to help the delivery guy, but he refused and lumped my whole shipment himself. Turkovaz is the only reason I gave 2 stars, IVL deserves 0.

Thanks, Findel. We appreciate the kind feedback and we're happy to see that things went well with your move.

International Van Lines was the best at communicating back with me, hurrying up and getting me a quote, and adjusting it. Very pleasant to work with. I talked to Britney on my cell phone and walked through my rooms. I offered pictures, but she didn't need that. I started telling her, "We have a 6-foot sofa. We have a 60-inch TV." I went through the rooms, she typed it up, emailed it to me and I double-checked it. And we went a bit back and forth on it just to make sure it was right.
Moving day, the guys called me on the road and told me they would be six hours out, which was very accurate. So, we were ready for them. There were three guys that came and they were like a hurricane. They worked hard and wrapped everything up and put it in the truck, and were careful. There was one guy that checked everything and put that label on it. And each piece was recorded. At the end, he took me in and showed me how much of my stuff was there, what the actual total would be, and I was happy with it.
Our plans changed. When they picked up the truck, we knew that we were in limbo. So, they stored it back in San Jose. They went back to San Jose, came down from San Jose, and went back to San Jose. We had a week of limbo deciding what would happen with our situation and our situation changed and we had to go to Idaho. We had 30 days of storage, so we stored our stuff until we could get the house here in Idaho. And we started calling for our stuff.
The drop off was interesting because it was a different company that was hired by IVL. They contracted another company to put everything in. Those guys were confident, amazing, on time, came here, got to work. But to put together the furniture that they didn't wrap up was challenging. And there were some pieces they couldn't assemble that are still unassembled. They don't know how to put them together. And it makes sense because they didn't take them apart.
They should do something different with that or whoever wraps it up should wrap all the things inside. Because all they did was one parts box with all the parts in there mixed in. And this poor guy had to go in the parts box and figure out what goes with the mirrors and what goes with what. I felt bad for them because there were no instructions. That part was stressful. So, it took them a long time to put my house back together and they did the best they could. My only issue was the not putting everything back together because we paid the full price. But considering that we changed our mind and had to go to a different state and IVL was able to accommodate us, I'd still give them credit.

I had the easiest experience as far as getting the call and scheduling with International Van Lines. It was very nice customer service. They came to pick up promptly and the movers packed everything. But the estimate that they give you could be a little confusing because you're paying for the cubic fee. At the same time, it appears that I was overestimated because they had a couple of items that were on their van already before me. It was about $1,600 more.
The items were damaged when I received them. You can tell that when they put it on the truck, they took it off and put it on another truck. The way they packed things, they tried to squeeze everything onto the truck so they could charge for the cubic fee. There was no resolution on the broken items. I looked it up and saw it was gonna be a headache for me to even try to get reimbursement. So, I decided not to do anything. I had a brand-new Samsung washer and dryer and they put some other material on top of the washer and the dryer because the washer was damaged. I have a sculpture that was also broken and damaged, and they weren’t cheap.

We moved from Florida to Minnesota and it ended up being four months that we stored. And International Van Lines stored our things in Florida. We tried to schedule a date well in advance to get the delivery in Minnesota and they ignored us completely. It took us three weeks to get our things beyond the date that we needed them in Minnesota. I emailed many times and did everything imaginable and IVL kept putting us off in terms of delivery date to Minnesota. We knew when our closing was gonna be on our house well in advance and they knew about it. They ignored it and then, we had to wait.
When we loaded, the staff were great. I did all my own packing and they wrapped everything over my wraps and upholstery. But they broke so many things. We don’t know where it was broken. We suspect that it was unloaded at their warehouse in Florida and handled quite a few times. We got into the house and we had to get beds and things when we were temporarily in an apartment. They broke a wooden leg off a chair in our living room and casters off our sofa. They punched holes in a wardrobe that I had to have fixed. They dented and scratched just about every surface of wood that we had. They broke a tile piece off our tile top table with a porcelain tile top table. And they put a hole in a nesting table. It's two tables and they fit together. Fortunately, the hole is on the part that's underneath the top table. It was a total disaster.
We got a settlement from IVL but there were certain things that I didn't even submit because it's just gonna be more hassle than it is worth. I chose the things that were most important that I couldn't fix myself and submitted a claim on those. We didn't have special insurance, so they just paid on the poundage, which is what dictates in interstate transport. I have a brother-in-law who works for a moving company in Wisconsin. So, he provided us with some of this information especially about the law that's been in place. It dictates how much the customer is going to get in return for damages when they don't spend a lot of money on separate insurance for the move. It's some ridiculous amount of money per pound. So you hardly get anything. People should absolutely, positively, unequivocally not use IVL.
We're sorry to hear about your experience. Based on our records, we resolved this issue, and you sent us an email confirming that. One of our managers tried reaching out to you with no luck. We will try again to reach you to speak about the chain of events and come to a resolution.

Jack, the guy who came to do the packing, was nice and helpful. But Natasha, the one who initiated the setup, disappeared completely because of so many things going on. I paid the money to move the washer and dryer so she could send someone. And she didn't send anyone. So, I had to call International Van Lines again and arrange for the same day. But no one came. Then finally, someone arranged something, because Natasha didn't mention to anyone about that thing. When we came here, they also didn't know that they were supposed to come and assemble or do my washer and dryer. I had to call the guy who came in North Carolina. This is the worst move ever for us.
The driver rushed. He broke the stuff and just spent one day, and didn't finish it. I had to pay $1,000 to my handyman. I asked the lady if International Van Lines could refund me because she said she would be refunding the amount I was paying from my own pocket because their guys said they could not do the job. And no one has come back to me. I tried to follow up a couple of times and she didn't reply back. I was promised by email that I'd be getting my money back and I’m still waiting for it. I would never ever recommend International Van Lines to anyone.

I must first say that the guys who picked up our belongings and packed the first truck were pros and took great care of our things. It seems, however, that whomever transferred our things to a new truck and certainly the guys who delivered our things couldn’t be bothered to care for their safe handling. Before any of our belongings were even brought into our house we watched one of the movers just throw our bedspring from the bed of the semi truck to the ground. Then the first items they tried to bring into the house belonged to some other unfortunate customer of theirs.
We had several pieces of wooden furniture that had major damage with legs snapped clean off and backs broken. And we had a large art pack with several pieces of art that was not delivered and was never relocated. On top of that there were many boxes that were crushed - some to the point of being half torn open. The delivery movers never even apologized for the broken items and couldn’t get away fast enough. I couldn’t feel any more strongly that the safe handling and passage of my belongings was of minor importance to this company. Giant disappointment after spending almost $8k.
IVL saw my review and responded immediately to address my concerns. They did so to my complete satisfaction. I appreciate their attention to my issues.

We used International Van Lines for two moves. The first one was a smaller move and it was about 1,400 cubic square feet from things that had already been packed up and put into storage. The crew that picked up in Southampton was very good. But I was very unhappy with the two-man crew who delivered them in Austin. The foreman had a bad attitude and did not have enough experience as a driver to get into my neighborhood. So, I was forced to pay an extra $1,400 for them to shuttle the truck. He's a bad driver because, subsequently in the bigger move, the guy who had the same sized truck had no problem getting it there.
I was told by my neighborhood HOA manager that I shouldn't expect to have a problem getting an 18-wheeler into our neighborhood. So, I was surprised. And this guy with his bad attitude insisted that he could not get the truck in and that he would have to shuttle. So, that's what they did and it was a two-and-a-half-hour delay. They got here and it was just two men on the team for 1,400 cubic square feet, which was not enough. It was a long day. They ended up refusing to put together a king-size bed that I needed to sleep in the house that night.
At the end of the day, when I was reviewing everything that was coming out of the truck, I realized that several rugs were missing. One in particular, a large one. And they said they had parked in a parking lot. They had a weird attitude about it. They suggested I follow them to the Target parking lot where the 18-wheeler was. We got to the truck and they went in. They said the rug was not there. I panicked and insisted on getting in the truck. I got into the truck and it was very hot. I did not see the rug. They asked how it was wrapped but I didn't remember.
There was a large empty space in the middle of the truck and there were items packed to the ceiling on both ends. I did not see the rug. I got very upset and the guy did not handle it very well, which made me more upset. I lost my temper and screamed at him. Something weird was happening and I got out of the truck because I was gonna call somebody. All of a sudden, the rug materialized, as well as two other small rugs that I had. So, I had them put them in my car because I didn't want them coming back to my house. I came very close to canceling the second move based on that experience because it made me so nervous. But I ended up not canceling mainly because the crew that picked up in Southampton was good. So, I didn't wanna rock the boat too much.
The subsequent big move that I had went spectacularly well from start to finish. The foreman was the one who packed up my house in East Hampton and that crew was great. He had a good rapport with the crew, which is important in these situations. They were very professional and on time. Everything went well. The crew who delivered was also spectacularly good. Cisco, the driver, was able to get the 18-wheeler into the neighborhood and his crew was great. They put together everything that I needed and rolled down rugs. Both crews went above and beyond.

I used IVL for a cross-country move from Los Angeles all the way to Florida, then I used them again for a move from Florida all the way up to Nashville. I made a point to ask all the questions I could think of and they were very good about answering them. So ultimately, on the days of the moves, they went the way I expected them to go. They hire good people locally, so everybody is going to have a slightly different experience depending on which local area they're in. Also, there was something I wanted to do on the site that I couldn't do. But otherwise, it was useful.
There weren't any surprises, even though the amount increased for the first one. But I was expecting it. As for the price of the second move, it decreased. This one was also different because I was going very fast and the move was done within a week. And I had them pack for me, which I had never done before. I was very impressed with the packing. They sent a team of women to do it and they were very conscientious. The next day, a team of men showed up to do all the heavy lifting and it was a good match between the teams. Any issues or concerns I had, they were really good about getting somebody to me on the phone to straighten things out. Or if there was a confusion or a delay, there was somebody who got me on the phone and we were able to work things out. On delivery, almost nothing was broken or lost, compared to all the horror stories I read online.

They also gave me a little bit of a discount on something. But I had three items break - two were the glass of a picture frame, so I have to replace the glass. The other is a clock that should have been packed a lot better. It's a family heirloom antique banjo clock that's in pieces. The driver drove off the road in a couple of spots in Tennessee. So he had to wait for someone to come and put his trailer back on the road. Also, our grill was bent. It was like they had set something really heavy on top of it. There were also a few scrapes on things. Plus, our refrigerator no longer worked though I don't wanna necessarily blame that on them.
We could tell that the delivery crew didn't like each other. They didn't talk to each other. When the driver wanted to leave, the crew did not help him navigate out. My husband had to go help him. He also drove over a sewer cover and damaged that.

I also had boxes and they were antique medical glass and medical urns inside, and one of them broke. The box had old medicine in it. So the contents broke and it was liquid. The guy contacted me and let me know, which was really nice. That was great. He was totally nice about that. We also had a very nice, antique, Chinese garden stool. I thousands of dollars for this move only to have most of my belongings destroyed.
Additionally, their movers are very unfriendly, unprofessional, and try to extract as much money from you as they can. They added an additional $500 to my unloading because they said they couldn't get the moving truck to my apartment and had to use a shuttle. The day before I had seen a semi moving truck right outside my building moving someone else in. One of the drivers was texting me for my address as well. I was extremely confused why the driver would need to ask me for my address when I have provided all of that information to dispatch. There is also misalignment on payment method between what dispatch communicates and what the movers expect. Nice sales team but tricky everything else.
Movers are shady and seem disgruntled with their company because they exaggerate reporting size, weight and effort to their management in the back office, may be to squeeze them to pay more. On your side, the customers, they are utterly unprofessional and deliberately inflict drama and damage on your furniture and property. Let alone the scenery they create for you in the neighborhood with their unprofessionalism, attitude and incompetency. Every minute they come to you, this stuff is heavy or it cannot fit in the elevator or door "what do you want us to do boss" in order to avoid removing a leg from a headboard, a handle from a fridge, etc. And when you tell them it is their call, they are the movers, just figure out what other movers did when they brought it in, they leave your stuff outside of your property in a lobby or take it back to their warehouse then expect and pressure you to sign that it is delivered.
Basically, they expect you to get involved as a mover or deal with losses and damages. Get ready. Movers created a scene on how our ~$5000 standard size fridge does not get through a cargo elevator door. Threatened they would leave it outside our property in a lobby. They let a neighbor bystander remove the handles for them so it could fit, brought the fridge upstairs in the condition of the pictures, said they are not responsible for putting it back (their boss in the office reiterated) and it took us a few calls and emails with pictures to sales to get the rest of shelves delivered to inside the property. The fridge shelves were scratched, and some parts are still missing.
They used a rented Enterprise truck with two guys that claims the furniture is oversized, does not fit into an elevator or a doorway when it is not, leave their truck in the middle of the road and get on the phone for tens of minutes, refuse to place your furniture in the right rooms, then leave you to unwrap the damages, lost items and hardware.
Movers did not label/inventory where everything goes and kept asking and mixing up items and rooms then started to put everything in the living room and behind the door when they were asked to place furniture in appropriate rooms they said they will do it later, only to video the place crowded then tell their boss they cannot do anything anymore because there is no room and get ready to leave us in disarray with many heavy items at risk of falling and hurting someone, we had to lay these down right after they left (see pics and vids).
As they picked up furniture from origin point, they asked for the delivery date, we gave the date that coordinate with everything else being delivered. We did not hear from them at all, then they came two days later on a Friday at 4ish pm to ask that someone will be in the house in the next business day, Monday, else they would slap us with warehouse fees etc. and delay our delivery further. At our work, there is no way you could ask for a Monday on Friday at 4pm, we explained that to the scheduling lady but she was aggressive and inconsiderate enough to force us to call sales who were able to postpone it a day so we can give work a notice.
The rest on how the stuff was delivered, the attitude of the movers and quality of their work and wrapping is above. In a nutshell, if they allow a negative review, this would have been a minus and if you have things to worry about in your move run for your life to Atlas or Gentle Giants. I had no issue or relationship with them at all just a customer.
Thank you for sending this over. I will look into this issue and reach out to you today.

This was my first International move so as you can imagine I was concerned about the process. I spent weeks searching online for a company based in the US and U.K. and found IVL. I decided on them based on a friends reference, their reviews and my relocation coordinator Julie. Julie did an fantastic job explaining the process with customs, packing and time frame. It took a solid 6 weeks to get my stuff to Denver which is what I expected. I ended up with one end table getting damaged, but it wasn’t a big deal and I moved on. I appreciate companies like IVL that sell a service that they actually offer as opposed to getting taken for a ride. Thanks Julie, Jason and to all of the movers that were involved in my moving process.

We hired IVL due exemplary reviews by what I thought to be reputable companies. I’ve moved many times in my life and this company comes in dead last in cost and service. We were upcharged on multiple occasions, making us feel our things were being held for ransom, when we finally got delivery (a month late) the crew was late by a few hours and so could only load our belongings into our garage to be carried into the house by us. This was a large and expensive move, I’m missing two leather sofas, a queen sized mattress, a large painting, and assorted smaller items presumably in boxes. Our inventory is very hard to read, light and ineligible but also when they inventory “box” that doesn’t say much about the contents. I’ve tried being patient, I’ve tried contacting them for further assistance. I’m told my items were found but I have no idea if all was found or some, and have no idea when the missing things will arrive.
I’m getting a bit anxious as I have no living room furniture which is quite expensive to replace especially in light of our move costing several thousand dollars more than the estimate. I was told I’d receive a claim form for my missing and broken items but still no word on that form. I’ve tried contacting the company via customer service, as well as the many different contacts I worked with over the lengthy time I had to deal with them. They also packed poorly resulting in broken items and because they charge by volume it seems apparent that they made sure our volume was as high as possible, some boxes were mostly filled with paper. We had expected delivery about June 1st but our delivery date was July 6th, several hours late, the crew was at my house till near midnight. Do yourself a favor and go with a different carrier. I should have gone with Bekins.

I’m not much of a reviewer, but IVL asked for my feedback and I’m happy to provide it since all went well with the move. First, moving to a new state is stressful and finding a mover is equally as crazy. There are so many scammers out there, so we went with IVL based on my agent Alex and how he handled our situation. They picked up my stuff from Atlanta on 8/1/2023 and delivered to my home in Buffalo on 8/6/2023. The movers worked hard and they all deserve a raise in my opinion. They helped get everything organized in the new home and put together all of our furniture without a hitch. I was in shock as to how easy e-weighing was and they really made the transition simple for us.

My family contracted IVL for our out of state move from Dallas, TX to Saint Louis, MO. They were suggested to us by a friend that used their service in the past which is why I chose them. I dealt with Justin ** and Karin ** for my moving estimate and customer service. They were both very kind and did a wonderful job keeping me updated on the status of my move.
The packers came out the day before the loading to ensure all my clothes, books and shoes were boxed up. The loading crew was also great. They went above an beyond I decided to tip them all well and bought them lunch. On the day of delivery the driver called me an hour before arrival and showed up with 4 movers who unloaded everything and assembled all my furniture. Moving is very stressful and I hope never to have to do it again, but if I did I would call IVL again.

IVL sent me an email with multiple places to leave a review about my experience. I’m not much of a review person, but in this case I was pleasantly surprised with how good my move went. The reason I say that is because I’ve had really bad experiences in the past. They handled every aspect of our move from Staten Island, NY to Dallas. I packed the majority of my personal items and IVL protected all of my furniture. They gave me a two day window for pickup and delivery which they nailed. The main guy Sean and my sales rep Justin did a fine job keeping me in the loop. I just want to say thanks to IVL and the whole team for providing us with a good service.

IVLs customer service team reached out to ask me how my move went. I was happy to offer a review since there were no issues with the move. I have a family of 4 and we hired IVL to move our house from Boca Raton, Fl to Los Angeles for a new position. The process was pretty simple. They gave me a virtual tour through my phone then proceeded to give me a quote. I worked with Natasha and Justin who always picked up their phones and were great. It took over a week to get my stuff from Fl to CA but that’s what I expected. The unloading took a bit longer than expected but there were no issues. I’m not much of a review person but I’m happy to leave my feedback. I’d recommend IVL to anyone moving out of state.

I felt compelled to leave a review because of experiences I’ve had in the past with other moving companies. It took me over a week to make a decision and chose IVL based on my comfort level with my rep Diego. My move was from Florida to Arizona. We moved a 3 bedroom house which required packing, loading and shipping a grand piano. The packer were very kind and worked their butts off in the Florida heat. The move took about 8 hours and then we were off. I got my stuff in 10 days. It was a different crew on delivery but they did a fine job as well. I was very stressed out about the whole process, but IVL came through. They get my review and referral.

I have made this multi-state move before and this experience was frustrating and upsetting and wound up costing me 3K more. I had a 1BR, 800ft2 apt in NYC and it took 2 days to pack it. The staff complained to my super about the stairs (I had a very tiny elevator), packed excessive paper in my boxes and didn't label the boxes. The packing team would disappear for extended periods of time and smelled like weed when they returned.
Upon delivery in my new state, the driver called me and asked me to help get him a shuttle truck because U-Haul was having issues with their computers. (and 18-wheeler could not be accommodated). I was appalled. My bed had screws broken in the holes, they did not secure any shelving inside chests, my boxes were beat up and my hydrow rower showed up day 2 bungeed on the back of an 18 wheeler. These are just a few examples.
The 3rd party claim company offered me a settlement of $75 for all of the above, a missing cart, broken desk and broken lead crystal champagne flute, as well as all of these issues I put up with. IVL said that everything had been done right and I deserved no audit refund. Customers do not mean anything. Customer service is non-existent, you cannot get people to return calls or emails for days and weeks. If they are OOO they tell you not to leave more than one message or you will go back to the end of the line. I don't write reviews but save yourself. I have pics and paperwork backing all of this up. I don't know how Forbes and other sites have them in the top 5 if this is the service they deliver. Maybe they deleted their bad reviews. At any rate, this is not acceptable!

International Van Lines (IVL) is not the moving company that Forbes rates as number 1. I have moved multiple times cross-country with national movers, and this ended up being my WORST experience. Transparency is not there. I was lied to over and over again. They stated that they would personally carry our household belongings to our house with no storage and no moving them on and off the semi-truck. They did the opposite. Our belongings were handled so many times that they broke and damaged 6 pieces of furniture, including breaking a leg off our piano, and breaking the bottom piece off an antique bookcase. They also “lost” our 6-foot ladder and broke a floor lamp past repair.
When it came time for the delivery, they said the semi would not fit in our area, though I had cleared it with the city and the department manager. Since moving in, I have seen several 18-wheel semi-trucks in our area. Instead, IVL held our belongings hostage until we paid an additional $1600.00. It is correct that IVL will not provide a guaranteed price quote. They just keep adding charges, for example charging me a fee for handling an upright piano. The pick-up crew at origin of the move added additional charges for the piano because they had forgotten a ramp to get the piano onto the truck.
The delivery crew came with no knowledge of handling our items and only 1 crew member spoke and understood English. They again threatened to add charges because they could not park immediately outside our front door. I yelled “no”. I was done! The crew came without a box cutter and asked to borrow ours; they brought all the boxes in first so had to maneuver the furniture and keep moving the boxes; AND they did not know there was another group of personal belongings that was targeted for storage so had to return a few days later.
The final straw came when I went to file a claim on the damages. I did not have 3rd party coverage, only the little bit that IVL provided. They outsource their claims department. The claim form was extensive and no one to talk with regarding questions. When I reached the end of the form that required a signature, they had a paragraph in small print. One of the phrases read, “Carrier reserves the right to salvage items cashed out at maximum coverage rate.” I contacted IVL directly to get an explanation. Several personnel stated they would get back to me. They did NOT. I contacted an attorney, and they advised me not to sign the form since IVL could take my belongings if I did sign. Hence, we were unable to file a claim with IVL for all the damages. The furniture is now repaired at a cost of $2000.00 to me. International Van Lines does NOT live up to its standing with Forbes of being No. 1.

Upon signing I requested a delivery date. Once deposited paid and inquiring about my delivery. I am told to check the document "delivery can take between 2 to 21 days." Why is this not told to the customer while discussing delivery? Simple, no decency. I tried numerous time to call and email asking for a delivery date no one reply even though they state they will get back to you within 24 hours and that does not included weekend so if you need help on the weekend, forget getting help. Check out Better Business Bureau complaints before using IVL. I would recommend hire a truck, paying movers to pack and unpack and drive to your destination with your vehicle in tow. It will cost you half and you will have your delivery on time.

From day 1 it has been an absolute NIGHTMARE. I picked them because there was an article by FORBES that ranked them highly - please believe I’m messaging Forbes to complain - IVL must have paid them to list them because if I could give them 0 stars I would.
1. There is NEVER anyone available to talk to you. You call the 18556747447 number and there is never anyone available to answer so you leave a voicemail that no one EVER ANSWERS.(the only time they may pick up the phone is when they are trying to get your initial business).
2. They are not a moving company as they imply - meaning that they are only a brokerage firm; they just connect you to movers etc.
3. Loading Nightmare - this is the email that I sent - "Good Afternoon **,Just wanted to bring up an item of concern. There are supposed to be at least 4 movers for my 3 bedroom apartment. When they arrived there were 4 guys but 2 were outsourced contractors. When they got here they went outside and had an audible dispute about compensation and they did not agree and the 2 contractors left leaving only 2 men to pack and move my entire apartment. There is no way they will get done today and at this rate I’m not sure if they will be done tomorrow. For the amount that I’m paying I would expect at least 4 guys to do this efficiently. It’s disconcerting that the payment amount for the contractors was not solidified before they arrived. How can this be remedied? Will we be able to have more help tomorrow?" NO RESPONSE from IVL.
4. Unloading - They have you give a date for first available delivery. (Beware - they are supposed to give you 24hrs notice- crazy when you consider working, needing to take time off etc)My given date was THE 10th. See email that I sent - "Hi, You never got a confirmation from me about a delivery date. I never received a call or a text. Per previous communication it was to be available on the 10th, but then I got a text message saying they would deliver on the 9th and when I told them I was available on the 10th. I never even got notified yesterday or the day prior about this. ** This is the most unprofessional experience I have ever had. I would like to know how to submit a formal complaint. I am on my way to my honeymoon and this is ridiculous."
5. Finally move in day - I tried calling and emailing multiple times, my mother called, my husband called. All I wanted was an updated estimate of delivery. Each time you call unless you want to purchase their “moving services” no one answers only voicemail. My husband finally got through to someone by acting like he was purchasing and they had no idea what was going on with my move and also the system did not show an updated move in date.
6. Move in day - (2 personal items were damaged but I chose to let it go 2/2 my frustration with IVL and not wanting to have to deal with the company again) BUT the moving company DAMAGED the building. See email - "Good Morning ** or **. My apartment building property manager told us that the movers damaged the outside railing by using tape to hold the doors open and also left debris along the walkways. They want us to cover the cost to repair the damage but I didn’t damage the property, this should be covered by the actual moving company/movers insurance since they damaged the building. Photos are attached. They have cameras and the property managers took photos before and after the move. What are my next steps? I would like to get this remedied ASAP."
7. Also the estimate they give isn’t binding - whichever contractor they chose can make up any number of extra charges to add to the move.
NO RESPONSE. For THOUSANDS SPENT IN MOVING COSTS?!? Absolutely horrible, unprofessional, non existent customer service. DO NOT Chose IVL. You will regret it. NO RESPONSE is their theme. I regret listening to the Forbes review. NEVER EVER AGAIN.

We hired IVL believing they were a reputable company. We are experienced movers; we have lived in more than 10 states between us and overseas. This has been the worst, most needlessly stressful, and most costly experience I could imagine. We have been arguing for six weeks with their "compliance" department to get them to take responsibility for their egregious unprofessionalism, irresponsible contracting to Yellow Eagle, unapologetic damage to goods, increased cost after we removed items, basic failure to complete the stated job, horrific and aggressive communication on site and at corporate, unexplained use of rental and personal equipment on the job, leaving rooms and areas unpacked, leaving packed boxes on site, failure to walk through before departing work sites, stranding items and garbage. These are red flags as described by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (**). Do not use this company. When I tried to pay by Venmo, Venmo rejected payment as a flagged scam. I wish Venmo has interjected earlier. Sure feels like a Scam

IVL comes in as the lowest quote that you will find in the market market. The reason for this is that they are a broker. They will tell you they are not, but when you look up how they are registered, they are. If they contract out with reputable movers, you may have a good experience, if not- beware. We had a good experience up until after IVL (they sent Mayflower to do our packing) collected our stuff. After we moved from AZ to ME it took a full month for our things to leave the state of AZ. I am currently waiting for our things to arrive after paying the full contracted balance. I received a call a few hours ago saying I owe an additional $850 when the drivers arrive. This info came from Roadrunner Transit, the company contracted to deliver our things. They said this is due to having to move our stuff into a smaller truck since it wouldn’t fit on our road/driveway.
I assured the person that called that a 75 foot truck would fit. As a matter of fact, four 75 foot trucks could fit in front of our place. The man on the phone said that if I don’t pay, I don’t get my stuff. I called the dispatch manager who said that they had to transfer my things due to bridges and roads on the way to my house that a large truck couldn’t travel on (different from what the first man said). We live in a well populated area right off a major interstate. I am now in the position of having to pay this money or my things will be held hostage. I will, of course, try to recover these funds after the fact, but have little faith that that will happen. IVL has been very difficult to communicate with since the move. It is nearly impossible to get someone on the phone and email responses are slow at best. Beware of dealing with IVL. They are the lowest quote you will come across for a reason.

2) On-line Tracker - Even though my furniture was delivered 3 weeks ago, the tracker still shows it is being staged near the origin and not even in-transit.
3) Are missing a couple of boxes, but no way to prove it as the stickers were attached to other boxes. I actually had several boxes with 2 stickers & one with 3 stickers which make tracking anything impossible.
4) They are a broker, so you have no idea who or what companies will actually be moving your furniture at either end.

DO NOT EVER use International Van Lines in Coral Springs, Florida to help you move. I recently had the terrible misfortune of doing so and it was BY FAR THE WORST customer experience I have ever had in my life. Across the board, from the company itself, to Account Manager Vanessa, Relocation Specialist Rick, Dispatch Manager Sean, Dispatch Claims Jeremy and Erika in accounting, my entire experience was below board and shady AF. Once they get your deposit and signature, they don’t care about you or your belongings. They were often extremely slow to respond to inquiries as to when my belongings were going to be delivered, either by phone or e-mail, and many replies I received were more like vague, non-replies.
Also, they were very slow to deliver my belongings. They picked up my belongings on May 2, 2023 and I didn’t receive delivery until May 23, 2023. And they weren’t even the ones that delivered my belongings, they had contracted it out to another carrier I’d never heard of. One of my belongings was an antique Grandfather clock, which I had already had boxed up good for safe transport. As a part of my total moving costs, I was charged $150 for them to take special care of my Grandfather clock. When I unpacked my Grandfather clock on Friday, May 26, I was mortified and literally sick to my stomach at the extent of the damage done to my clock while under their custody and care. It was clearly dropped on its top, a position it should NEVER have been put in.
I filed a claim for the damages, and they came back with an offer of $300 if I would sign a release agreement. Wanting to put an end to this experience, I agreed and signed and returned the agreement on June 7, 2023. They replied that accounting would process the refund on June 15. I still hadn’t received anything by the last week of June so I inquired several times to get a status update. Via e-mail, Jeremy asked if Id checked my card. I told him that the debit card I used for the initial down payment was no longer a good card as that was a card that was linked to my checking account in Florida that I’d closed 2 months ago upon relocating back to Wisconsin. Still not having received a status update, I reached out again on Monday, July 3. Late Monday, July 3, 2023, I receive an auto-reply that they’d processed the refund to the card I’d told them was no longer a valid card to use.
After going back and forth via e-mail for a week, they continue to insist that my former bank has the $300 and I should reach out to them for it. There is absolutely ZERO chance that my former bank in Florida processed and accepted this refund transaction to a debit card that they immediately deactivated when I closed my checking account with them in early May, 2023. Clearly they had NO intent of ever refunding me $300 for the damages they did to my antique Grandfather clock. Oh, and the legal e-mail address that was being included in this back and forth exchange from July 4, 2023 to July 11, 2023, was a g-mail address. Yeah, nothing sketchy to see there.
DO NOT believe any of these ** paid for 5-star reviews. Pay attention to and read all of the one-star reviews and see how very similar our miserable experiences with International Van Lines were. I’d have given them a negative star review if that had been an option. Again, my experience was below board and shady AF. If you need to hire movers, hire ANYBODY BUT International Van Lines in Coral Springs, Florida.

International Van Lines is not actually a moving company. They book moves and then they subcontract them out to smaller moving companies. That's why you haven't seen their trucks out on the road. My move got subcontracted out to a small company that has simply been holding my stuff in storage for over two weeks waiting to book another move that is "along the way." The smaller company places profit above customer service and doing the job they committed to doing in the first place.
They really get you by taking one-third deposit before booking the move, then one-third at pickup, and before you can complain they are screwing you --- like me --- they have two-thirds of your money and all of your stuff. Avoid at all costs. We have paid for three weeks at a hotel with no end in sight. They may seem cheaper, but this move exploded by an additional 7K by the time they hit us with extra cubic footage charges, and all of our hotel charges. Go with a big company that actually moves people.

We chose IVL because they seemed to be great with responsiveness and competitive on price. They told us 3-9 days but said it would be closer to the 3 since we were moving East. All communication stopped on moving day. After that things got really strange. Some guys showed up in a small truck and were hours late and took until after dark to load up. They said they had to charge us extra for things that were agreed to ahead of time. For the first time we were told that our stuff was going to be sent to a houston and put in storage and it would take from 2-20 days from our pre communicated delivery date (not pick up date). Then no one answered calls or emails for 6 days where we tried to call to find out what was true.
More strange stuff happens. First at pick up we had to give them a cashier's check so they would take our stuff. Shady. Then that guy wrote a new bill of lading that was $5k higher than the estimate even though we sold a lot of furniture and moved less than when we got the estimate. They know people have to get out on move out dates so they have you. Since then it’s been 2 weeks. No one calls us back and the one email we got back said that they were waiting on a truck and couldn’t give us any estimate on when that would happen only that after it gets there it takes another 3 days to load and then an undetermined amount of time to drive and deliver. Everyone I’ve talked to says they had better experiences with Allied or Mayflower. I should have asked them first.

We had International Van Line (IVL) move us half way across the country. It has been a terrible experience. IVL uses subcontractors. So we dealt with IVL to set up the move, IVL subcontracted with another company to pick our move, and then IVL contracted with another company to deliver our possessions and still another company to manage our complaint against IVL. No one has been willing to take responsibility for the poor move that resulted in us not even getting some of our possessions, such as, a 12 foot extension ladder, an antique spring rocking horse, etc., and the multiple items that were broken and damaged.
The company that IVL contracts with to managed complaints against IVL offered us a $91 settlement. Doesn't even cover the cost of the ladder we never received, let alone the other items that were either never delivered or damaged and broken. I will never again work with IVL for moving, or any other moving company that subcontracts the work. Feels like it's a way for no one to take responsibility for anything that goes wrong. I will only use a company that they themselves pick up my possessions up, moves them and delivers them. IVL is not such a company. I would caution anyone from using them.

I have NO intention of using IVL again in the future. Here is my unfortunate experience with IVL: My belongings were picked up in Missouri on 05/12 by a broker associated with IVL. The driver told me that my items would be stored in a warehouse in Missouri. Initially, I had scheduled the first available delivery date for Connecticut as 06/03. IVL's customer service representative assured me over the phone that they were known for their punctuality and rarely cause any delays. However, as the week of 06/12 approached (ONE MONTH AFTER PICKUP DATE), I still hadn't received any updates. Concerned, I decided to call and inquire about the status of my items. Tried many time to contact IVL and eventually heard a response. Shockingly, I was informed that my belongings were still sitting in the Missouri warehouse, untouched and without even being loaded onto a trailer.
To this day (40 DAYS AFTER PICKUP), I have no idea where my items are without any communication from IVL regarding the status of my order. Despite my numerous attempts to reach out via emails, calls, and voicemail messages, they have remained unresponsive. This lack of communication and accountability has left me extremely dissatisfied with their services. In my personal experience, after signing the contract with IVL, I found that it took numerous attempts, typically around 10 calls or emails, to receive a single response from them. This delay has caused significant inconvenience as I am currently sleeping on the floor with limited clothing change and without access to essential items such as my books and other belongings necessary for my trip and for my work.
I was officially responded by IVL that "Routes are created based on how many moves we have in a specific area, first available delivery request, and the size of the move." Does this mean that if there are fewer orders being moved from the Midwest to the East Coast, my delivery will be indefinitely delayed until a sufficient number of orders are accumulated for this route?!

Only after my husband talked to the local office the final price was clarified.
It was not clear that we have to pay for the tape and other packing materials, Natasha did not prepare us for this as well. On the moving day I called another moving coordinator Nancy, who assured me that it is OK to add one more piece of furniture, which was not true and after that neither Natasha, neither Customer Service were available no matter how many times I called. I also asked Natasha several times what kind of truck to expect, and if this truck will bring our furniture direct to CA or the furniture will be reloaded. I was told that it will be a direct truck, which was not the truth.
Two movers, Freddie and Henry, were very polite, nice and did a good job packing so far. I believe all the misunderstanding and stress could’ve been avoided if the coordinator ( who is in Florida) have more details or connect me with local (WA State) office before move. I will update my review after the furniture arrives to CA.

I hired IVL for an international move and my stuff was picked up at the end of July 2022 from my apartment in CA. There is no update coming from this company, so I had to send an email for an update every month. I finally hear back something in September 2022 that it was in some storage facility across the content in NJ. I send them an email every month for an update. They completely ghosted me until one day in March 2023 they decided to respond and get things moving. No apologies, or explanations whatsoever.
Once our stuff was on the vessel and landed in Rotterdam, the moving company in the EU was good at least in terms of communication and punctuality. The only thing is I paid over $5000 for DOOR to DOOR service and this moving company in the EU was asking for 100 EUR for an "elevator fee" for using the elevator in our apartment building. I emailed IVL if this is something IVL can pay, but the answer is that "yes I did pay for Door to Door service but" it's in the contract details that says it could change. WFH, when I paid for a door-to-door service, the company should be responsible and take care of it. I am glad I finally got my stuff after almost a year, but it was truly a HORRIBLE experience. DO NOT HIRE IVL FOR INTERNATIONAL MOVES. There are way better options.

I used International Van Lines to move across the country. When asking for a quote, I asked when would my stuff be delivered. I was told between 3-7 days after it goes into transit. I asked what does "in transit" mean. I got no answer. After I got my items loaded onto the truck, I learned that it could be between 2-21 days before my shipment would be in transit. When my stuff was delivered to my new apartment, there was only one employee that came with. I had to help unload my bed, sofa, loveseats, desk, armoire, and grandfather clock since the one guy couldn't do it himself. When I'm paying them so much, I would have expected that they would have gotten a second person to help unload.
After everything was unloaded, I noticed that several items were damaged. I called and complained about having to help unload and they said that the driver claimed that I didn't help him with anything. The driver completely lied to them. I eventually demanded a partial refund because nowhere in the contract did it say that I was responsible for helping unload the truck which they complained about but eventually relented and paid me back. To complete the task of moving, especially long distance interstate moving, can be time consuming, stressful and costly. We would like to share our experience with the moving company, International Van Lines, via the following review. We first searched online to find several companies based on reviews. After a few phone calls we decided to choose IVL because of the excellent communications with the Relocation Specialist, Rick **, who served the coordinator throughout our entire moving process.
We would like to emphasize that Rick was not only responsive to ALL our questions and requests very promptly by either replying to our emails or calling back upon receiving our voice messages, but also very patient about explaining everything in detail to ensure our understanding. He was articulate and made it easy for us to understand their volume based charges per cubic foot (some companies charge differently by weight) with boxes of small/medium/large and special items in different sizes. Thanks to his upfront clear explanations, we were able to provide relatively accurate information on the numbers and sizes of all our boxes. In addition, he pulled our house on MLS listing with photos while talking to us to make accurate estimate of all pieces of furniture to be moved.
This in turn, according to Rick, made it easier for him to give us a more accurate overall estimate. As a result, there was no unexpected extra charge when the pickup team came. (This is one of the complaints found in online reviews of different moving companies.) And we think the actual cost of the moving is fair compared to quotes from other companies.
Rick’s job did not stop here, He coordinated the whole process very well. Everything happed, in sequence, was exactly as he described. We received an email and phone call from Lisa, the account manager and one of the team members, the day before pick up with all the details. She helped us with minor modification of the number of boxes and finalized the bill. The pickup team arrived within the window frame as specified by Lisa. During the transit, we received emails with updates from Carlina of the dispatch service. We received phone calls from the delivery team 2 days prior to the scheduled delivery.
When the weather changed unexpectedly on the planned unloading day, the delivery team communicated with their main office and got back to us with the decision to postpone unloading to the next day out of concern of possible damage to the furniture in heavy rain. Again, Rick was making the calls for the rearrangement and communicated back to us very promptly. The whole process was seamless. We also would like to mention that both the pickup and delivery teams were very professional and handled all the items with care.
Again, Rick’s job did not stop here, he went above and beyond. We received a call from him during the unloading process and another follow-up call the day after delivery to make sure all was taken care of timely and appropriately. My wife and I expressed our hearty thanks to Rick and his team and we shared our experience with Rick.
We both agreed that it is the team work that satisfies both parties. And the key to working as a team is COMMUNICATION, COMMUNICATION, and COMMUNICATION! But we also would like to emphasize that it’s Rick’s customer-oriented attitude, patience and excellent communication skills that makes him exceptional. As he puts it: “I’m the specialist and you (my customers) are special”. We highly recommend the Relocation Specialist, Rick **, of International Van Lines, to anyone who is planning to move, especially long-distance interstate moving. We also would like to suggest preparing a list of commonly asked questions related to moving before making calls to moving companies.

After having done online searching for a good moving, IVL was on the top choice on my list. It was a big mistake. After going through inventory check room by room, I was told the estimate was under $6000. In the pickup day, someone from HeartLand Relocation services (then I realized IVL was just functioning as a broker) told me the estimate was away off the mark. I had to make a hard decision to throw out many pieces of furniture away (not moving). Even though the total cost was $8421. The story did not stop here. When the furniture arrived, I found many pieces of the furniture accessories were missing and some furniture got damaged. The cost was supposed to include unpacking and re-assembling of the furniture. However, the delivery company (Cargo-express) just left much of furniture unassembled due to missing parts.
When I contacted IVL, they said I must contact the mover (HRS), but the latter just gave me a website for filing a complaint. It has been over 1 month; I have not heard anything yet. There is no response from HRS either. It has been very bad experience with IVL and its partners. Before having signed a contract, they acted like the best caring businesspeople in the world. Once having got customers' money, they all disappeared. My experience could serve a reminder “don’t trust some online review”. I hope this industry should be closely monitored and regulated.

It was exactly like the other 1 star reviews. Furniture arrived filthy and broken, half of my bed frame was missing, several boxes were damaged. Electronics all died within 1 week of arrival. I filed a claim for damage, which has not been paid despite several attempts to get reimbursement at the lowest rate. My only resort is small claims court. They only accept cash or certified check, so that you can't stop payment or get a refund. The actual movers are whatever contractors they can find. The guys who delivered my items were in a locally rented Uhaul, and had no moving equipment other than their bare hands.

I sought an estimate from International Van Lines and explained that I have photos of all of the items to move from CA to TX. They gave a bid and refused to review my photos for an exact bid, then said they could not help me move when I pressed for an exact bid based on the photos. This tells me that they are not professional - professionals are happy to give an exact estimate based on the exact items to be shipped. The most common problem with shipping companies is bait-and-switch and I know this as a lawyer. This company REFUSED to give an exact bid and this is a red flag for this type of bait-and-switch intent. Trish took the customer complaint call I made on 12.6.22 and was beyond rude, and questioned me when I explained how much time I have spent going back and forth with IVL in emails and calls with Gloria ** trying to get a professional and proper bid.
Professionals do not behave this way so now I question how they even got the high ranking they have online. I was told by another shipping company that they paid for their ranking (and I know this is true of the lawyer ratings - they are all bought and paid for because my husband and I - both lawyers - get solicitations for lawyer rating scams all the time, i.e., if we pay, we will get rated highly - ridiculous).

When you pay 5k or more for a "professional" move, you expect good work. The movers showed up 4 hours late then they said they would when they arrived. They had no tools to disassemble furniture/assemble furniture despite contract clearing stating that is a part of their job. We had to wait for them to go around neighborhood to find tools for them to do their job. My family and I did the packing for them. They just simply loaded items on truck. They still charged us their "packing material usage" fee. I do not mind paying it however, if I am doing their job for them because they cannot show up on time or have necessary tools for job then I should not be paying.
I called 4 different times to file a complaint. I sent one email. Finally someone picked up and we were able to discuss concerns. I have waited a week for an ETA of when stuff will arrived. I understand it takes time and know arrival date will "be worked towards however not guaranteed." However not having any estimate ETA or communication with an entire household full of personal property is not appropriate. The customers should be top priority as they are paying good money for "good" business. Overall, I give them 1 out of 5 stars. I have moved 12 times. This is by far the WORSE company I have ever moved with. I would not give them a single dime of money again.

I used IVL after reading some reviews that seemed positive, now I realize all the positive reviews were likely paid reviews. IVL promised a price and date for my move from Chicago to Las Vegas which was all handled professionally, but that's where the positive experience ends.
- When they are looking to sign you up, they'll say anything to get the contract. Jeremy claimed they don't use subcontractors for delivery, and if you read through some reviews, you'll realize they basically only use subcontractors. One driver who made the delivery said I needed to pay cash or get a money order to his trucking company as it was contracted out to him.
- IVL packed my furniture as per the agreement so they took apart some of the furniture and packed the parts and said they would put it back together on delivery. But on delivery, the driver was adamant on not doing that even after I showed him the paperwork that showed, it was promised unless I paid him more money to do it. This turned out to be a moot point as all the parts for my furniture was lost during the delivery. Now I'm left with over 20k in furniture without parts to put it back together. Seems they also lost some other boxes along the way.
- As things were getting unpacked, I noticed that most of the heavy furniture was dinged. Also a $1200 end table was smashed into pieces and a $5k dining table's base was cracked and will no longer sit level. So I started the claims process which really made me upset. IVL said they were sorry and wanted to offer $400 as compensation, if I waive the claims process and not write any negative reviews about my experience.
I obviously did not that the "deal", as I think it's more important for me to warn other prospective movers to avoid IVL. At the end of the day saving a thousand dollars for the moving cost will end up costing you 5x the saving once factoring in the broken/missing things from your move.

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY - I felt SCAMMED. I arranged to use IVL for a simple move from Dallas, TX to North Carolina. They were extremely responsive in the beginning with returning calls and providing information. The packing and loading went well. The problem occurred on delivery. I had specified from day one before any papers were signed that I required the movers to unpack my boxes and to include it in my quote. I was told this would be included in the move total on numerous occasions as this was very important to me.
When I mentioned to the driver they would need to unpack the boxes, he told me he had not been informed of this and was not planning to unpack the boxes. I promptly called IVL and they proceeded to tell me it would cost an additional $500 to have my boxes unpacked. This was such a SCAM!!! This was even detailed out on my invoice as included in the costs. They would not answer my calls and I was told by the driver he was the person in charge of my load. I was able to discuss with IVL, but only on his phone and they were adamant that if I wanted my boxes unpacked, I had to pay an additional $500. In the meantime, the driver told the hired hands they would have to stay and unpack the boxes for no extra pay and a whole new fight broke out in my front yard. This was extremely stressful and embarrassing and unfair to me as I had been led to believe I had already paid for the unpacking.
In the end, I did not pay them the $500 and I had to unpack the boxes myself. The driver insisted I sign the delivery papers with no opportunity to check the inventory, and he promptly left. I later figured out that he must not have completely unloaded the truck. As soon as I signed the papers, he slammed the doors closed on the truck and left. I am now left with approximately $2300 in undelivered items. There is no form on their website to claim a loss, nor will anyone return my message as I have left several. DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!

International Van Line's quote was a bit less than some of the larger well known moving companies and reviews seemed good, so we decided to go with them. I'll be honest, a month ago I would have recommended IVL. We had a great pickup experience and the moving team that packed our belongings and loaded them on to their truck was fantastic (so nice). They did do an inventory and did not estimate correctly, so we did end up needing more space in the truck and it ended up being a bit more (which we heard can happen and planned for). They also were ambitious with how long it would take to pack and load... Ended up having to come back the next day and our bed was already packed, but overall a pretty good experience. I thought we were one of the lucky ones. Now... I'm not confident we will see our things for quite some time.
We had our belongings in storage for a couple months and gave them a month heads-up of when we would want our belongings. They said they would "try" to make the delivery date (after 2 weeks of silence). They replied that they can deliver up to 21 days after the delivery date as they try to consolidate moves (OK, get it, we knew that was in the contract), but we get 24 hours notice once our things are loaded into a truck (THAT was not in our contract). The communication is now non existent. We're past delivery date and now getting copy and pasted emails of our contract. No updates. After reading some other reviews I'm concerned we won't be getting our things for quite some time. My advice, pay a little extra for a well known company. DO NOT use these guys if your items are going to go into storage and you want them within a reasonable timeframe after. I hope to update my review after the delivery, but If I could go back in time I would make a different decision.

My initial conversation with Justin, the sales rep, was based on their own website advice: Justin assured me they would not contract out; the entire move would be handled by IVL only. FALSE. Justin assured me that our items would not be stored or moved from the initial truck. FALSE. On the day of move, a moving company, Yellow Eagle, showed up. Said they were an affiliate of IVL. It was not International Van Lines as promised. We contacted IVL and they confirmed this but again, it was not IVL as promised. For drop off at our new home, we got a call from a moving company, Alheet Trucking LLC. We'd never heard of them. They told us us to make out a cashier's check for final balance ($4000+) to them. Our instructions were to make the check out to IVL. This man had never heard of them and was not going to deliver without a cashier's check made out to his company.
The IVL team was entirely unresponsive when we contacted them by phone and email to help us resolve the issue; we had to resolve on our own with Alheet. Moving company showed up at 9:15 pm. The team consisted of exactly two men (the packing team was a team 4). My husband and I helped them unload and worked just as hard as they did for the low cost of $4,000+ dollars (as the final balance due). They were only going to leave the boxes in one area and not disperse in the house nor were they going to assemble the furniture the original team disassembled for moving. My husband and I had to haul boxes into the house.
IVL was not forthright in providing the details we needed, such as the name of EACH moving company that would be handling our things and they were deceptive. IVL became unresponsive when we needed their help and we haven't heard from them since. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY despite the positive reviews you may read. Don’t Hire International Van Lines! WORST Moving Experience EVER! Damaged and Missing Items, Surprise Up-Charges that Doubled the Original Estimate, and worst of all, NO ACCOUNTABILITY! Save yourself the hassle and heartache! RUN!!! We moved from Southern California to New England in June of 2022. We had lived in a 7000-square-foot house in L.A. for more than 17 years and had amassed a lot of stuff during that time, so we knew moving would be a daunting task—especially over such a long distance.
I did my due diligence, scouring the internet for days to find the most reputable company to handle our move. I ultimately picked International Van Lines (IVL) because the firm came recommended by Forbes Magazine as one that was capable of moving families with lots of high-value belongings over long distances. I now shudder to think of the experiences others may have had as the result of this disastrously inaccurate recommendation by Forbes.
Our initial estimate was handled by an IVL desk lackey in Florida over Zoom. I had concerns about this, since it seemed unlikely that he could appreciate the sheer size and scope of the move over a Zoom call, but he assured me that because of the pandemic, this was the new standard practice industry-wide. I made sure to visit every room in our home, highlighting the contents of drawers and closets and cabinets as we went, so he could give the best estimate possible (full disclosure: we had had an L.A.-based local mover come to the house and walk around for 2+ hours prior to this Zoom call, so I’m not sure the “industry-wide” standard is a standard at all).
At any rate, our man in Florida came up with an initial estimate of roughly $25K, including two days of packing prior to departure from L.A. This was on the low end of several other estimates in that ballpark, and we elected to go with IVL because, in addition to its endorsement by Forbes, we figured they could offer a more competitive price because of higher demand for what must be superior quality service. Oh, how wrong we were!
Never once did IVL’s estimator alert us to the fact that no one from IVL was actually going to handle our move. We were under the impression that a team from IVL would be packing and transporting our belongings, up until the day the movers arrived to the house. As it turns out, IVL subcontracts out its moving jobs to smaller—and in our case, careless and disreputable—movers. The firm IVL contracted with to carry our belongings, BMR Moving, was absolutely dreadful. When they arrived to the house, the owner’s son began by insisting we pay him—up front—an additional $7000 before the workers would even begin to pack up our things. We were shocked. When we questioned this, we were told “you have a lot of stuff.” There was no itemized breakdown of the charge, and no coordination with the estimator from IVL.
This was shocking to us, but we complied because, at that point, what else could we do? We had scheduled the move weeks in advance and had time-critical commitments to keep in NH, not to mention the hassle we would incur if we had to re-book our flights, since we were traveling with our pets on board the plane. BMR Moving had us hostage at that point, and they knew it. We paid half up front and agreed to the balance of the $7000 at delivery. Needless to say, this soured us on them from the start. It only got worse from there.
Our situation was unusual in one respect, since we had spent more than 5 months in escrow and had to reschedule the move several times because the sellers couldn’t resolve aspects of their divorce in time to deliver us clear title to the house. As a result, I had begun packing up my entire wardrobe of designer clothing back in January. I have spent more than 20 years amassing a valuable collection, and I was loathe to leave it to movers to cram my designer dresses into boxes themselves. I took great care over several weeks to make sure it was all properly packed into more than 20 wardrobe boxes, labeled clearly and sealed with clear packing tape. When the movers arrived to deliver our things to our new home, I saw that all of these boxes had been opened and re-taped with brown tape.
This was instantly alarming, so I began to open them, only to find—in EVERY BOX—smaller, often filthy boxes containing all sorts of stuff from my attic like Christmas ornaments, tools, and books, stuffed inside (see videos, attached to this review). All the dresses were shoved aside, some off their hangers and wadded into balls, to accommodate the space these dirty boxes occupied. I was furious. I confronted the BMR driver (Rodrigo, who I believe is the owner of that company) about this, since it was his team that packed us up in L.A., but he didn’t care. He and his crew were rushing to empty the truck, so much so that they just started throwing the boxes haphazardly into the closest rooms, regardless of what their correct destination should be.
Boxes of linens for my daughter’s room were in the carriage house; kitchen items in a bedroom, etc. There was absolutely no thought or consideration given to making it easy for us to unpack, especially when some of the boxes with dishes were really heavy and hard for us to lift and relocate later ourselves. As a parting gift, the team of movers here in New England littered the road in front of our house with the trash from the pizza lunch we bought them to say thank you for their help. So the first night in our new home was spent picking up discarded pizza boxes and empty plastic soda bottles that were left on the street and thoughtlessly thrown into the woods on our property. We were so embarrassed to begin our residence in the neighborhood this way.
I have since opened all of the boxes we received, there are multiple missing items. I cannot find several of my coats and sweaters. More importantly, my 86-year-old father, who lives with us, is missing his hearing aids and a briefcase with important legal documents including his will and powers-of-attorney. When the BMR movers came to pack our house, my dad spent most of the day in his recliner with our dog, trying not to get in their way. They never once alerted him that they were busy in his room, and packed up ALL of his prescription medications and his hearing aids. You would think that, given his advanced age and seeing the bottles and aids out on the counter, they might ask if he needed them and set them aside for him to pack in his suitcase. But no. They packed them. My dad only realized they were missing once they had put everything on the truck.
We had to arrange for him to replace every medication, at his cost, once we arrived in New England, since Medicare would not pay for prescriptions that he had recently filled (which were packed on the truck). My father is also functionally deaf and his hearing aids are a vital part of his ability to participate in our family conversations and to get along in society. He was initially alarmed not to have them, but we figured we could wait to find them in the boxes from his bathroom once they arrived at the new house. They were not in any of the boxes of his things. We continued to be patient and search, since many, many of the items packed in one location in our California house were found in boxes from an entirely different location, almost always mislabeled (“pillows” turned out to be the contents of our downstairs guest bathroom and “small appliances” had only the contents of our spice cabinet, for instance).
But I have opened and sorted the contents of all the boxes, and I can tell you for certain that Dad’s hearing aids are nowhere to be found. They were kept in a small box the size of a phone or laptop charger, attached to a power cord that plugged into his bathroom wall outlet. I find it incredible that they were not among the items packed up in his bathroom that day—indeed, that they weren’t in the box of his medications (that we found in the carriage house, far from his bedroom, BTW), since they were located in the cabinet right next to the wall outlet containing the plug for the hearing aids. But they weren’t.
We have been in our new home for a few months now, and I have to yell at my dad every time I want to speak to him. When I asked the customer service representative at IVL about filing a claim so Dad could replace the hearing aids, she told us that we had to deal with filing a claim against BMR directly, but that they would only be responsible for $0.60 PER POUND of missing or damaged items. The hearing aids weigh just a few ounces, but cost thousands of dollars. Essentially, she said, you’re screwed.
I pressed the issue, and sent videos of all the damage BMR had done to our things. I am only guessing, but I suspect that after hearing all my complaints, the situation was so egregious and appalling that she offered to reach out to Rodrigo from BMR Moving to see if somehow, he might be willing to negotiate a fairer compensation with us. She arranged for me to speak to him by phone directly.
Rodrigo and I spoke for almost an hour, and I detailed the multiple issues that plagued our move. I explained to him that, despite all of the problems and missing and broken items, I would be satisfied if he would merely agree to cover the cost of replacing my dad’s hearing aids—about $6500. He admitted during the call that “my guys screwed up,” and acted like we had a deal. And days later he responded with a written offer of only $2500, and the IVL agent attached to it a non-disclosure agreement that would prevent me and my husband from ever telling this story or writing a negative review of BMR or International Van Lines. IVL accepted NO accountability for any of this. They washed their hands of the entire thing, and refused to make it right, even when it was obvious that we sustained damages that weren’t our fault. The whole thing felt crooked. IVL is a scam. RUN!

Holy smokes. What a train wreck. Avoid at all costs, go with an actual one with a reputation and one that will give you at least a video quote. These guys are straight up gangsters and you’ll regret the headaches and anxiety as you wonder what the hell is going on. I feel dumb because their slick marketers make it look legit and I thought I took the better deal. What’s more fascinating about these guys is that it’s completely unnecessary and self inflicted. From the packer threatening us to their completely cutting off all contact, all it would have taken is some basic courtesy to make it smooth. In the end, I’m going to be charged just under 18k to live out of suitcases and on floors for almost month.
First, you can’t tell them anything because they will use it against you. I told them I tentatively planned to arrive on a date around two weeks, when the furniture should arrive. What do they do? They use that date as the date to store all your stuff as long as possible then don’t do a thing until that date, then start the clock, effectively buying them weeks more time during which time they do nothing at all and answer no emails.
The first red flag is they offer a quote, without looking with the assurance that as long as we are thorough it should be close to reality. I describe everything in detail - the quote is slightly on the high side, but I figure IVL is a reputable carrier maybe it's okay. They also told me it would not be outsourced and would be IVL doing the move since Houston is a “hub.” Then when they show up the red flags start going up.
The muscular-looking packing team lead guy suddenly says we owe $3,000 more (on a $15k quote), and points to an empty bicycle case and some empty plastic cases, as well as the number of items is higher than they thought. He says this with a straight face as I see them individually numbering each shelf component and tiny loose item (increasing the number of items) and emptying out plastic containers to pack them in other containers (effectively doubling the space). When we ask him about it, his inner Philly Teamster accent comes out, he turns red and angry, and starts going “want me to really calculate this huh?” and comes up with some other astronomical number and threatens to walk away. He ends up with $2k more and leaves in a huff.
Then the communication stops with IVL completely. I ask about an approximate time, nothing. A week's worth of emails, nothing. I get ONE text with literally ”we’re working on it” and nothing else. Our family of five is in and out of hotels, and eventually in the empty house two weeks later, with no notice of what is happening, and my continuing emails just unanswered. At some point, I realize this might be a scam so I let them know I’m going report my stuff stolen, and lo and behold, a reply -- except one with no information except it’s being unloaded and reloaded someplace else, with no times or estimates or anything, and they can’t tell me where it is. As far as I’m concerned, if they don’t know where it is then by definition they effectively lost all our stuff so I said I’d report it lost and whoever comes up with it might have stolen it.
Suddenly, another reply. Their justification is that the date I mentioned we need the stuff by is the date they used as their “we don’t do anything until” date. They sat on our belongings and stuck it in a storage facility (sounds like they unloaded and reloaded it maybe a few times) for two weeks and only proceeded to move, thus making the move more like a 4 week move (but only a few days according to their calculations) during which time our families cancelled their vacations over Labor Day, we slept on floors and had to just sit in the dark and hope.
As we speak, we are on Day 17 since they picked our stuff up, our kids have spent a week at a hotel, three days at a friend's house, and a week on the floor of the home we are renting, and the approximate arrival date has changed 3 times, now supposedly “next week”, but then again, according to them it takes 4 days to get from Arkansas to Oklahoma without stopping. I saw another review of a person who wrote their review on the 56th day or something, no doubt they made the same mistakes I did. Last time I moved from Seattle to Houston, another moving company said 4 days and showed with our furniture up in 4 days. Here, it doesn’t matter what you say or pay, you’re going to end up in limbo for weeks on end.
I’m posting this rather prematurely because who knows when it will arrive, but I think based on the reviews there could be grounds for some kind of class action on their pattern of benefitting from leaving people in the dark and them adding more and more pickup and drop-offs to their schedule, all they have to do is conveniently come up with excuses to hold you at bay. I have no idea who is writing these positive reviews but they're clearly not normal customers, some laughably so (especially the ones that say "I know the CEO Josh, he's a stand up guy" which sounds like less of a product review than something someone named Josh would write).

The driver was supposed to pick up my car on Aug 19, and the driver told me that he canceled my order 3 hours before the pick-up time. The conversation over the phone with the driver was rude, which included ** words, and without providing the proper cancellation reason. I tried to call the Internation Van Lines, but I had difficulty reaching out to the operator, where the dedicated operator was out, and her backup person couldn't be reached. I told the customer service call center that I wanted to escalate the issue due to my urgency, and she ignored my request and kept putting on the line to the backup person.
After trying for 1hr, only the backup person reached back to me and tried to get another driver to pick up my car. With his conversation, I was told that my car could be left in the parking spot and the car key could be left somewhere hidden, where I didn't need to be present for the driver to pick up my car, but this info was conflicted with the later information.
Another car shipping service company reached out to me and said that they would pick up my car on Aug 22. However, I was told by my neighbor that my car hadn't been picked up on Aug 23, which was one day delayed. My wife called to car shipping service company, and they only told us that they couldn't get a driver, which they never informed us so that we could rearrange our schedule. The driver picked up our car on Aug 25, which was 7 days delayed at this point. After the pick-up, we were told that the car would be delivered to our place on Aug 31 or Sept 1. However, on Sept 1, we were informed that the arrival of the car would be delayed again to Sept 2, and arrived at 10 pm after our calling.
We had no visibility on the car shipping and only found out the fact after we called their service with multiple tries each time. The car should arrive on Aug 25, but it came on Sept 2, which was 7 days delayed. We had to spend an additional ~$700 to rent the car for another week. No reply from the dedicated operator after writing the complaint email and CEO was also included in the email. International Van lines have poor customer service and bad drivers. The entire process didn't provide clear visibility to the customer. Would highly not recommend to their service.

I was lucky enough to come across International Van Lines and arranged my move with them. From the first call to the last box coming off the truck, I was impressed. Not only were the men professional, they were polite and very efficient. I was also very happy with the final price as I was not overcharged. Since the move, I have recommended this company to two other people. Great work!!

Although this company did refund my deposit initially when I had to cancel then rebook, all other interactions have been a nightmare, including the move (still in the works). They don't tell you they are a broker until the day before scheduled pick-up when they identify another company actually doing the move. I had researched for a reputable firm, picked IVL, and ended up with a company I never heard of that has been impossible to deal with. IVL was also the only moving company of the 6 I contacted who did no visual review, virtual or live, of the items to move. When the other company showed up, they wanted to tack on lots of extra charges, and were very cagey about details. I still can't get a date for delivery or a location where my stuff is sitting 2 weeks later. IVL has done nothing to help and washed their hands of the entire transaction. So, the only reason they get one star is because they did refund my initial deposit.

Updated on 12/15/2022: I could go into horrendous details, but suffice it to say that International Van Lines picked up my possessions on March 30, 2022, and it’s December 15, 2022, and I am still waiting for them. They have been in the care of a holding company in Rotterdam for the last five months. I never contracted this company to help with the transmission of my possessions. International Van Lines did that. Now the company in Rotterdam wants to charge me an additional €1500 for demurrage fees. But all the online reviews say that this company is unreliable at best, and other people pay the fees never see that possessions again, or else receive damaged or partial goods. I rue the day I hired International Van Lines. Please do not make the same mistake!
Original Review: When they told me six weeks for delivery, I figured it would be longer than that. I didn’t think that after five full months my possessions would still be in their storage facility in New Jersey. Nor did I think that for the first four months all of my emails and calls to customer service would go unanswered. Now I’ve finally got someone there who writes me back. She has gone to enormous trouble to get my thing into a boat leaving in early September, landing in Rotterdam. Then it awaits customs check. How my possessions then get from Rotterdam to London is still a mystery. If I get my things by the end of the year I’ll be surprised. I’m hiring an attorney to try and speed things up and get some accountability, but I am not optimistic. Not sure even a lawyer can break through the iron walls protecting their customer service from the outside.

I specifically asked the IVL salesperson if they were a broker -- the answer I was given was that they were not. The next thing I was told was that the move would take four days because they were based in Illinois and would pick up my move on the way down. The day of my move, a different company showed up to pick up my move. They told me they were a "partner." When the truck was all loaded they informed me that the "broker" had misquoted based on weight and that they needed to charge based on cu. ft. which increased the price by 50% over the initial quote. I had no choice but to accept.
I waited 6+ weeks for the delivery. This exceeded the agreement. IVL never provided updates; they took 3-4 days to reply to my emails. Emails were sent in bold, red, nasty replies which simply copied portions of previous documents. No communication. I had to call the "partner" who told me they were busy and I just needed to wait. (At least they took my calls and were polite).
When the move finally arrived, I had 3 broken floor lamps, a missing headboard to a platform bed (makes the bed useless), and two missing boxes. They are still "looking" for these and simply sent me a claim form. One of the delivery men did not know how to assemble a basic bed frame and asked if I could teach him. As far as I am concerned all IVL did was take my money, deceive me, and treat me with lack of respect and rude replies. They provided zero support or assistance.

I interviewed multiple companies for an interstate move. It was a fast timeline so I needed a full pack. I spoke with Joey ** at IVL. He was a great salesperson, could do the dates I needed and his pricing came in a little lower than two other companies I called. Joey was highly responsive and said he would be with me every step of the way. And he was - until my items were picked up. Once we got to that point, he forwarded everything to Melissa who ran the operations of the move. Before I knew it, I was in contact with the company IVL subcontracted to handle my move. This is my fault, but I thought they ran their own moves. If they get a good company as a subcontractor, you're golden. If not (like me), you will end up with a lot of damaged items.
I opted for the basic coverage which I misunderstood to be $0.60 on the $1.00 - it's actually $0.60 per pound per article. So my antique dresser that has a huge gash through it won't be repaired by them. They toss a few bucks my way and call it a day. While this is on me, I would have really appreciated a better explanation. (Every other move I've done - and there have been a lot - has at a minimum included repair of damaged items if possible. Again, my fault. It wasn't until I got to the Claims department that anyone said, "it's best to get more insurance your high-value items.")
The movers they chose to complete my pack were a mix of good and bad. They were very nice, they worked really slowly and one guy just didn't care. That's where all the damage came in. I have so many broken items due to poor packing. It looked like one guy just threw items in a box and taped it up. Three boxes were missing. Because they don't make an inventory of what they packed, they estimate weight and give you the money based on that. So a small box has a limit of say 25 pounds so you'll get $15 for the box they lost. And you hope you can recall everything you own so you know what's missing.
The final part for me was the run-around I consistently got from Joey. I rarely lose it with people, but I did with him. He just doesn't listen. He answers questions that weren't asked and doesn't try to clarify what's being asked. His whole purpose is to protect IVL and his communication reflects that. I had a horrific experience with IVL and the company they subcontracted with. If you choose to move forward with them, noting that "hey, every company has a bad move," check to see who they will sub with and check them out. Ensure you are clear on what is being contracted and when. Good luck!

Their ratings by Forbes and others are complete fabrication or paid for. This company is a brokerage company for moves that is committed to cost overruns, scam services, and completely incompetent service. We were supposed to receive packing and full move on 7/30 and 7/31. They called on Friday at 5 pm to say, "Actually, it'll be sometime next week." This disrupted our moving help on other end, our house closing, etc. And, then when they showed up on evening of 08/02, they claimed our estimated move of $13k would actually be $30k. They were the "pros" who built the estimate with us, and their third party insisted on cash for entire move. We walked away and have been fighting with them ever since on receiving a full refund on initial deposit, which we will litigate if necessary. Avoid at all costs.

It's hard to imagine worse moving company. They lie to you from the moment you start talking to them. First of all, they are a broker company, they hire some cheap companies to do their work for cheap but charge you premium for the brand. They would tell you to hire them because they are "best in market" but in reality they hire whoever is the cheapest.
Second, before you pay them money they would tell you things like "your move will take maximum 5 days, we put in a contract 21 just in case of some extraordinary situation happens", in reality, as soon as you pay them money, they say things like "you signed a contract, we have 21 business days to deliver your thing". So be prepared to stay one month in a hotel if you hire this company. When I called customer service a guy would say things like "you changed your delivery date so many times", "6K is not much money, just wait 21 days". Absolutely disgusting customer service.
Third, non existent customer service. You can never reach them. You can call/email/leave the message, but they just don't respond to you. The only people who are available are the ones who take your money and make you sign up, after getting your money, good luck talking to anyone. Fourth, every single piece of our furniture was damaged! They also made a hole in our wall, damaged a staircase! We had a new house, just renovated, and movers came in with zero regard for our furniture or our house, made a literal hole in the wall. Please tell me how much worse it could be?
Fifth, they will charge you so much more money than they initially tell you. They charge by sq. ft, so they would pack something tiny in the big box and charge you extra. Also, they ask if 18 wheeler can come to the place and deliver furniture. We found out from neighbors and HOA that 18 wheeler will have no issues, however movers told us that "we cannot maneuver" and they asked for more money to get Uhaul and deliver things on a smaller truck. Sixth, on delivery they didn't assemble majority of our furniture and said "they had other deliveries". To sum up: broken furniture, damaged house, overcharged move, and horrible customer service. Please, please, please, do yourself a favor and avoid this company!

I cannot express enough how incredibly unprofessional my experience has been through International Van Lines through Cosmos and ultimately Fair and Square Transportations LLC. After 6 months of well researched, multiple quotes and lastly a Forbes article - we selected the highly rated International Van Lines for our TN to GA move in February 2022. 3 days before our move, IVL assigned our move to Cosmos Van Lines who then assigned our move to Fair and Square Transportation LLC. The owner of this company arrived at 8PM and tries to charge us ten thousand dollars more than our binding quote! Through the entire ordeal, I have concluded through documented evidence that the mover is unethical, racist, and unsafe. Every step of our horrific process has been documented and emailed to IVL but yet I have never received an apology nor an official response.
Specifically, at 8PM, within less than an hour of meeting my family and 3 days before we had to vacate our home, the mover said that he was not Russian but from Soviet Union, that the reason people are dying in Ukraine is because they don't believe in God and that gay people should suffer and lastly, that (since I am originally from Taiwan) China will eventually take over Taiwan and I should just know that... We had no choice but to move forward with our move due to IVL's last minute outsourcing. Not only did we experience bait & switch (mover wants to add $10K to our Binding Quote because the 3 IVL estimates were a "joke" and we were threatened that he’d leave a portion of our household items).
In addition to the harassment, threats of leaving our belongings behind and complete lack of disregard of customer service, we experienced the following unfathomable events:- The mover engaged in a heated argument (yelling and shouting) in front of myself and my grade school children where it ended with the local working crew storming out of the home and off the job.
- A heated debate where the movers knowingly packed and loaded onto the truck our specifically identified and state registered weapons/ammunition (which we discussed we would self move) then denied knowledge of it during loading process.
- Lied about hiring local helpers instead posted Craigslist's and got random, unvetted - no background checked workers (did I mention we have 2 school grade children).
- Only had 2 people working late into the night - asked us to use our shower - then slept 2 nights in the the truck on our street.
- Continued to call the local contracted movers "them **" and expressed to us that they were "lazy" even though we had specifically told him their names... And we observed that they took very few breaks and were hustling the entire time.
Finally, when our household items were being delivered, they called the night before and wanted to deliver at 6PM and unload throughout the night and even begged us to pick up one of their helpers from 40 miles away at a bus stop… The mover also refused to provide carpet protection, citing that it has always been the homeowner’s responsibility. We all know this is inaccurate, but since we just installed carpet the day before, we did what we needed to do to get the nightmare behind us…. I have moved nearly a dozen times via corporate and private moves and this scenario is completely unacceptable and this particular business SHOULD NOT be allowed to operate.

We had IVL pack us up in the Bay Area. They were supposed to arrive between 8-10 AM, but didn't show up until 12 PM. Boxes were not marked with contents, so you didn't know what was in it, They did not create a "toolbox" for screws or other items to put things back together at the other end. Our wardrobe boxes had towels, shoes, and clothing dumped in the bottom of the packs, which meant we had to wash everything. In order to remove the content of the wardrobe boxes, we had to turn them upside down to find them. Items from the living room were combined with items from the storage shed. Nothing really broken except for one large item. We are now trying for a month to get them to respond to our claim. The packing company points us to the delivery company and so far no response to our insurance company and no processing of our claim. Would not recommend them in the Bay Area in California.

We made the mistake of trusting International Van Lines with our cross-country move. The biggest problems were: 1) the final cost was 60% higher than the quote, and 2) they will not send a final invoice. The price of the move was raised by about 35% two days before our move when we had no other choice but to move forward with it (our house had already sold and we needed to be in the state for work). The cost was raised another 25% on moving day after our belongings were loaded onto the truck. They demanded payment by cash or check.
We did not receive invoices reflecting the cost increases and have requested a final invoice multiple times in writing. There was a chance we could be reimbursed for the move by our employer, but we needed a paid invoice. We explained this to IVL, but it did not make a difference, they will not send an invoice. Additionally, there were many issues with customer service after they had our money, and careless movers did serious damage to our belongings. Beware International Van Lines.

I hired the most expensive best ranked for the peace of mind. However, I am writing, so everyone else can save themself from this company move experience nightmare we encountered. The packaging crew was 1000 times worse than any bad job we have ever received. We will be scared to hire any moving company in future, because of this experience. Following are some of the listed experiences:
The moving crew was late in the evening, and as soon as the crew leader entered the first room, he looked at 3 materials (sofa, TV, and entertainment table) already listed in the line item and started harassing me to charge me more than 3 to 4 thousand without even looking at other items listed. Later, the other item was examined.
When I pointed out that he just wanted to take money, I was not interested in extra payment (due to the trust he gained), even if I didn't have to ship. Therefore, we had to remove 20-30% of the costly items already mentioned in the list of items and garbage them due to the unfair torture the crew leader kept putting us through. Prices for the items I was able to take are less than moving services.
The man broke my office table and shipped half of it, we noticed a broken wall clock and bench of dining table while opening the package. In front of me, the crew leader took out the key to the treadmill and threw it in the pile of garbage. I went to collect the key to keep with me, and I informed him that without it, the treadmill would not work.
We have yet to locate all the screws for the bed frame, and Entertainment table, and despite opening all the boxes. Therefore, our entire home is a mess because we cannot assemble any of those items despite having paid 1.5K extra for a full relocation package including boxing, unpacking and assembly. To save me time and to forget this extremely bad experience as soon as possible, we will not file a claim or follow up further.

I've had a lot of problems with International Van Lines. I booked with them months before my move and was essentially fed lies to get my business. I was told that I needed to provide 2 potential pick up days but that I was basically guaranteed my preferred day and was told the second day is only in the case of an emergency. I was also told that my things would be delivered in a week and it is rare for the delivery to take longer than that. My belongings were not picked up on the day I requested. I was given a window of 8-10a for the second day but no one showed up during that time. I tried calling 20+ times before I was able to get ahold of anyone. They did sort out the issue and movers came at noon to get my stuff.
Living in a high-rise apartment complex, this delay presented challenges with securing an elevator in my building since the freight elevator needs to be booked in advance. My items were picked up on 6/24 and as I write this review on 7/12, I still have not received a delivery estimate. I have paid for my move in full, but cannot reach anyone to discuss when I can expect an update. No one answers the phone or answers email. Terrible company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They make a lot of promises/guarantees that are not kept. We were given a 2-day guaranteed window for pickup of our items- The day before the window started we were told the movers would come on Day 1. After the window on Day 1 had opened, we were told that they had to bump our move to the morning Day 2 of the window. By the afternoon on Day 2, we had not heard from anyone at IVL or the carrier that they contracted our move out to; nobody at IVL answered the phone despite multiple calls, voicemails, and emails, and we were never provided contact information from the contracted carrier.
The movers finally showed up after 6pm on Day 2, but said they could ‘only wrap’ our furniture but not load the truck since they’d already worked too much that day. They ultimately did not finish loading our truck until Day 3 (despite our ‘guaranteed’ 2-day window). Not only that, but after everything was loaded on the truck, they decided we needed to pay another thousand dollars since ‘it looked like we went over the limit’… very predatory since we were not in a position to tell them ‘no’ and start from scratch! The movers even told us that companies like IVL will give low quotes to suck people in, even though they’ll end up paying more once it’s too late.
After this ordeal, it has been like pulling teeth trying to get someone from IVL to talk to us. We’ve tried calling multiple people in their company and leaving voicemails, as well as sending emails, all of which have still not been responded to weeks later! Do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! Despite their good ratings, read through actual customer reviews on trusted websites like the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, Yelp, etc. to know what you can truly expect.

Hiring IVL was hands-down the worst purchasing decision of my life. I moved cross-country (CA to NY) and IVL farmed me out to a subcontractor TWO DAYS before the move. That subcontractor has a 1-star rating and is among the worst reviewed movers in America. IVL knows this, and they still give them work. If you were to book directly with that subcontractor, you'd pay a lot less (given their reputation) and understand the risks you're taking. But with IVL, they make you believe you are hiring THEM directly, and charge you as such. Then they subcontract you to firms they KNOW are absolutely awful, and pocket a handsome finder's fee.
What's worse - given I was notified just 2 days before the move, I'd ALREADY made my insurance decision based on belief IVL would be handling my move directly. My move was 6 weeks late with several fully missing items (value: well over $1000) that were never recovered. Working with IVL to get so much as an update on where my things were was absolute hell that probably took years off my life. IVL is a dishonest company that claims to be something they are not, in order to profit off your trust (that they will then abuse). I worked with Melissa (sales), Jason (ops), Daisja (compliance), Julie (compliance), and also emailed the company founders (Josh and Jay). I've seen this company for what it is. I have full receipts of all communication as proof of their negligence and incompetence. Absolutely do not give them your business.

I generally do not write derogatory reviews but rather vote with my pocket and elect not to give my business to them as my experience can be an outlier. However, this company seems to capitalize on the fact that repeat customers, especially for international moving, is not a part of their business plan and they treat you as such. I was moving from Ohio to Quebec, a distance of around 500 miles, a move size of a small 2 bedroom apartment. Cost was on the higher side, 6000 but I elected for this as the reviews were great. We enjoyed our initial talk with the manager Nico, who helped us set up the move 5 months before the move date. He had iterated on multiple occasions that the move will take 3-5 days (which was later clarified as 3-5 business days, which we understood and took it as a mea culpa).
Long story short, it took 25 days of miserable calling, poor customer support and “you will get your shipment when we are ready” attitude. Had we been treated humanely, I actually would have understood this delay. However, a few things frustrated me: IVL was a broker in my case without me knowing. I paid 2500 to them and they hired a company with the worst reviews I could find on Google and one I actively avoided (AMS transportation, to whom I paid 3500). I would not have minded this if I was told about this at the time I signed the contract as when these smaller companies work for larger companies, they tend to behave better.
I complained to Nico about this delay and the unresponsiveness of AMS. Nico was nice enough on the phone and over email and also said the timeline is ridiculous for a 500 mile trip, he will find out what is going on and get back to me. He did not get back to me on all 3 occasions where he promised to investigate what is going on. I was told when signing the final contract on my moving day that the “shipping delivery date” should be left empty as the exact date cannot be specified. But if I had discussed something with the dispatch, it will be honored. 25 days later, I saw this same contract that I signed and I now see “carrier’s convenience” written over the delivery date.
Long story short, my experience was that IVL is a broker who takes a large sum of money without providing adequate support or responsibility of their hired company. Once they have your money and furniture, they don’t care at all as the chance for repeat business in this industry is low anyways. If you have no choice but to go with IVL, I would advise that: you do not make the full payment until your goods are delivered. Write in every empty part of the contract as they will write things in there AFTER you have signed. Once you have signed, request a copy of the contract to avoid these illegal alterations.

After contracting with International Van Lines, we received notice that their "preferred carrier, COSMO VAN LINES" would be handling our move. From the start, the Cosmos Van Lines office crew was an unprofessional mess. There seemed to be no logic or system at all to their scheduling process – for either pickup or delivery – so, unfortunately, we had to be in contact a lot. Once in a while we reached someone who at least tried to be helpful but most of the time we spoke with the same recalcitrant person who quickly became agitated and, on some occasions, actually swore at us in Spanish. Did she think we wouldn’t understand?
When a crew finally showed up, of the three who did our packing, only one seemed to have a grasp of proper ways to do so. The others seemed untrained and unaware of how to handle things. They also arrived with a truck much too small for the job so it had to be done over two days. We waited in a half-packed house while the moving crew drove the first batch to storage, unloaded, and came back with the same truck.
When Cosmos finally scheduled delivery, only half of our belongings arrived. In addition to being disappointed and upset for obvious reasons, we thought paying only half the delivery balance was entirely reasonable. When the driver phoned his boss to discuss this point, the boss told us if we didn’t pay up, he’d have our belongings “thrown in a river somewhere.” Seriously.
In addition, we had no advanced notice of delivery from Cosmos only a call from the driver saying they were an hour out. To get the second half of our belongings, about 3 weeks later, we had to contact the packing crew directly as the office staff were entirely unhelpful. Though all mattresses were to be wrapped, the only one that was had been done in advance by us. ALL others were received uncovered. Some came ripped and dirty, as did box springs.
Our leather couch arrived with small puncture holes. Nearly all our furniture now has new dents and scratches; some has corners chipped off. A large wooden cabinet was obviously broken and pieces were glued back on; one of the drawer faces was replaced upside-down with the handle facing in the wrong direction.Closet boxes were filled 2/3 with other items in the bottom so clothing on hangers arrived crushed and crumpled; some of these boxes were packed with shoes so the clothing was also dirty.
Clothes that were neatly folded and in drawers were dumped randomly into boxes with other items. We received all the packed clothing rumpled, wadded, and wrinkled. Picture frames were stored under large and heavy piles of linens and came with frames and glass broken. Shelves and free-standing mirror were left poorly reassembled and wobbly. Several wood and wicker items were packed with items much too heavy for them to hold; they arrived cracked, damaged, and/or crushed. Overall, this is a very small sample of the damages and frustration we suffered at the hands of Cosmos Van Lines. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from both companies.

Threated to leave when i had to move out that day. Did not send movers and packer until day before and proceed to charged me 7k$ more then quote. Did not pick up phone during move. Wanted money "cash" only up front. Broke things never followed up. Improperly packed. Lost parts to tables and beds. Damaged home with or regard. Worst company ever. Do not use these criminals. They were professional, kind, and able to thoughtfully and thoroughly answer my questions and address my concerns. Henry was professional and managed the process well. Alexander, my driver, and his crew took extra care to protect the flooring and my items while packing and unloading. I also appreciate that Henry was able to schedule delivery within four days of loading. It minimized the time I had to spend in a hotel and prevented me from taking an extra day off of work.

We cannot get customer service to respond. International Van Lines is MIA.
We would like to share our experience with CEO of International Van Lines Josh Morales. Per his bio on the website, “I’m always open to speaking with customers regarding any issue and will always do my best to fix the problem.” While that sounds reassuring on the website, good luck finding an email to request assistance or getting customer service to respond to multiple inquiries. Josh, if you are out there and listening, please contact us! We are still sleeping on the floor. You need to understand what is going on at ground level. I obtained what I later realized was just an estimate from this company using an exact list of items and sizes. My quote was subcontracted to A to Z moving from Nevada. On moving day they wanted $2000 more than the written original quote for the same items I had carefully detailed to International Van Lines. I had to downsize the items on moving day. On arrival, multiple items were severely damaged including a small antique desk and dresser which the movers were supposed to make safe for the move. It appears the items were dropped and are unrepairable.

My experience with International Van Lines has been nothing short of terrible. I leave this review a month after my belongings were picked up, only to find that they are still sitting in a warehouse at the origin. IVL is a broker who pawned me off to a third party, without disclosing that information to me. In fact I only learned who my actual movers were when they called asking for a cash payment at pickup less than 24 hours before they came to collect my belongings. Since then, I have called IVL on a weekly basis, only to be told each time that they are “working on a schedule,” and to call back. My most recent call was the most infuriating as the rep was unapologetic and unhelpful. I am starting to wonder if I will ever receive my belongings. The reviews for IVL are highly inflated. For the sake of your sanity, and if you ever want to see your belongings again, please go to a different moving company.

We didn't have ANY furniture. We just had a couple of wardrobes, kitchen stuff, and a Bowflex Max Trainer (expensive workout equipment), one full-size bed.
On the day of packing the movers charged us $800 more and they didn't take the bed because they said it'll cost $200 more to take that!!! After 21 days our stuff arrived and we realized two of my handbags are missing (a Kate Spade and a Michael Kors). The workout equipment charger is smashed!! One of my shoes has only one pair now! I am shocked at the level of incompetence shown by this company. I went with them for my move from Chicago to NYC because they are highly rated online (by sites like Forbes). And they were the most expensive so I figured they must know what they are doing. WRONG. Maybe they are fine for a residential move involving going from one suburb to another. Who knows. I can tell you they are awful when it comes to moving to and from a big city. And I understand a big city move is a different kind of beast - but I specifically asked them about their experience with big city moves when making my decision about who to hire and I was told they do it every day and have tons of experience. So that, in combination with their overall positive reviews, made me go with them.
My experience from the get-go was awful. First I told them they needed to get a parking permit for Chicago. This comes from the city and would block the parking in front of my house on the day of the move so that no one can park there minus my movers or you could get towed. They told me the customer is responsible for that. Nope. Not in Chicago. You are not allowed to request that kind of no parking permit as a regular resident - the moving company has to do it. It’s clear on the City’s website and I even called to check (and confirmed IVL had an account already with the city making this process even more easy).
I told them that and then it was like - oh yeah, we reached out to our person and Chicago and you’re right. So they said they would handle it. 1 day before the move I get a call that the movers were coming the next day. “Where’s the parking permit?” I ask. After some back and forth they tell me they thought I was getting it and there had been a misunderstanding. WTF?! Luckily, I live on a pretty wide 1-way street in the city and I asked my neighbors if they would mind moving their cars for my movers. If I hadn’t had this particular situation, it could have been a nightmare. As you can see, things aren’t going well and we haven’t even made it out of Chicago.
Fast forward to 3 months later when I am ready to have my items delivered to me in NYC. I live in a midrise building in NYC. I was told I needed a certificate of insurance from the movers (a very, very common request). I told IVL about this a month in advance of the delivery. Considering how badly they mucked up the pick up I figured the more time I give them, the better. Here is how that whole process went:
1) 1 month before first possible delivery date- I tell them I need a COI and provide the requirements (and that my building doesn’t allow weekend moves). I am told they noted both requirements.2) 1 week before - I ask them for an update on the COI since I have heard nothing. They ask me to send them the requirements again.
3) a few days before - I ask again. Nothing. I then get an email updating me my delivery is on the way. I tell them over the phone and email I need the COI or no delivery can happen.
4) day before - mover calls me and tells me he can deliver as soon as Saturday. Remember that other requirement???? No weekend delivery. Guess no one told him. I tell him and I tell him I have no COI so we cannot schedule the delivery yet.
I know this is a godawful long review so I’ll try to wrap it up now. I literally asked for a COI at least 5x from different people. They literally kept asking me to send them the requirements as if they had never heard of it before. Not kidding. I was calling and emailing constantly over a 24-48 hour timeframe as I was driving to NYC. I had to take on the job of coordinating with the delivery guy because no one was doing their job. I finally got that COI at 5:30pm on a Friday night. I had to beg my building manager to review it over the weekend so that the mover could come on Monday. Oh and there were all kinds of extra charges that the delivery guy charged me that was never mentioned up front when I signed my contract.
It all ended up kind of okay in that I got my stuff and it was generally in okay shape. But the move only happened because I did their job for them. I paid them to coordinate this move and I did all the coordination. They are seriously the biggest bunch of incompetent people I’ve ever dealt with. And no one ever followed up to ask me how the move went, if the COI was ironed out, how my experience was, etc. I think it’s pretty obvious why this company doesn’t ask for reviews.
Moving is one of the most stressful things you can do. They made it 100x more stressful. I would never recommend this company to anyone - unless you enjoy stress, wasting your time saying the same thing over and over again to a brick wall, and calling and checking your email every 10 minutes praying someone will do their job and help you.

Moved furniture and miscellaneous items from our home to our daughter in Texas. Upon arrival we noticed that oak furniture was broken and handle bars on bike was broken, which would require a fair amount of force and poor packing in order to damage items to this extent. We immediately contacted the company and reported the damage and have reported it several times, but have not had any reimbursement or offer of repair of damage. IVL was the most expensive estimate, but we decided to go with them, due to the supposed good ratings; however, it appears that our "budge" movers that we used on our last move, would have been a better deal, since it was much less and there was no damage, despite being all the way to Hawaii, versus this move was only to Texas. I would not recommend IVL based on my experience of being the highest estimate and the least responsive to damages from their poor packing.

This was the worst moving experience, I ended up having to rent a Uhaul and take an additional 4 days off work to complete my move despite paying them a lot of money and having a contract. To start with the company is just a middleman, they contract out with smaller movers to do the work. The mover they contracted with for my move had different rates and policies than what I had agreed to and tried to bully me into agreeing to them. Never once in the process of getting a quote from IVL did they tell me they contracted with other companies or talk to me about overage potential and what would happen.
I itemized every piece of furniture and item I had in my house and it was on their contracted inventory. Yet the day of the move the mover would not take my items claiming there was no space despite them being on the inventory. They tried to force me sign an agreement to pay more to move items I had told them about. The company is trying to claim that that my items are oversized and trust me when I say they are not. They did not pack an entire room of my home despite paying for packing service. After the truck was loaded, I could not get any response on my inquiry for a delivery update for over a week and a half and then I was given less than 24h notice prior to the delivery.
The moving company they outsourced to was rude and unprofessional. Their cost was the highest bid I received but because they could confirm a pickup date I went with them. Stupidly I thought I was also paying for quality service but I was so badly mistaken. I filed a complaint and they have completely ignored all the information I gave them and dismissed me. I am fortunate that I had options and wasn't stuck being forced to pay an extra $5000 the day of the move. This company will lie to you and try to extort money from you the day of the move. Do not hire them. It is not worth it, you are better off selling everything you own and starting over.

Do yourself a favor and find other movers. After they had about 3k of my money for a deposit all customer service became dismissive and patronizing. What happened to me has happened to several others from this company. They wait until your cancellation window has passed to tell you that your move will be delayed and sub contracted to movers with horrible reputations, and expect you to just follow through with it since it’s too late to be refunded or find new movers.
When you are first signing that contract the salesperson does not once mention the potential for outsourcing and downplays the possibility of a delay, saying the secondary date is just in case but not likely to happen. They have the audacity to move your date out, but that does not apply to your cancellation window. You can only cancel 48 hours before first move date you wanted, not what they push you to.
Based on what I’ve seen get out as soon as you can, take some time to really do some research and read some verified reviews on Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. CANCEL their services the second you think something is off and get your money back. I am discussing course of action with a business lawyer about a Deceptive Business Practice claim, anyone that has had a similar experience should as well.

The movers who showed up were unprofessional in the way they handled my items, and arrived in a box truck stacking my fragile boxes with all others. Safeway asked me to pay via wire prior to me receiving my goods. I refused. Once another box truck arrived instead of a long-haul truck suitable for moving household goods, I saw the extensive damage done to my household belongings.
Surfboard had holes, cracked tip. Armoire had a massive chunk removed from the wood facing. An original oil painting had slashes through it as if a forklift had punctured the canvas. After moving several times on my own. Renting a U-Haul and doing it myself this last time (Dec 2021) I decided to trust an actual moving company. I chose IVL due to their ratings which was a HUGE mistake. They damaged a new dresser and new chest....they damaged my daughter's baby crib that I have had now for 36 years to pass down to my grandbabies...they also lost (stole) a toolbox w/ tools in it that belonged to my father who had passed away in 2019 from Alzheimer's so, needless to say, the crib and toolbox can't even be replaced. After receiving my things and when the men left so I could start unpacking is when I realized the damages. When they unpacked neither of the two that drove my things up from FL to VA mentioned any of it. The whole time they were unloading the truck I continued to inquire about the toolbox since they had already unloaded a second one I had.
In short, I reached out to my 2 account managers that were in charge of my move and after 2 emails to each of them as well as leaving 2 voicemails for each of them...neither would reply to my emails or give me a callback. I continued to reach out to anyone I could eventually receiving an email from the claims department once I reported the incident with BBB, however, of all the damages and missing item they state I am only entitled to $168!!! Are they kidding?!?! Nope, they aren't. I even provided photos of the 2 guys that were packing and loading my things. The one guy which was to be documenting and tagging all item was Facetiming with his family the whole time while the other guy was off in another room packing and loading the truck prior to anything being tagged. Trying to confirm items being delivered was impossible. Nothing matched on the checkoff list.
I finally reached out to a law firm but what it will cost me to hire an attorney outweighs the loss and, of course, does not come with any guarantees. It's terrible how they work. Unprofessional, rude, and don't appreciate their customers. It's, unfortunately, ONLY about the money. And those that work with IVL must have no heart of conscience since they reject claims just because that's their job. Lesson learned....ratings mean nothing! I will continue to move my things on my own!
IVL or any other moving company are not to be trusted. They will not take any responsible for damages or loss item and, per the law firm, there are so many lawsuits against moving companies that they simply don't even care. Most will even ignore letters sent by attorneys. I've been offered $400 to close my complaint due to the claim process could take 30-90 days. I've agreed to this so I can put this all behind me but now I can't even get them to provide me the release to close end this so I can move one. THINK TWICE...about hiring any professional moving company. If you are able and capable to do it yourself that is what you need to consider.

Reading through other 1 star ratings, I see common experiences to ours. We've moved multiple times over a 40 year career, all have been corporate moves. Our "final" move from Kentucky to Kansas was to be paid by us, so like others, I did what I thought was due diligence, checked reviews, and had multiple bids. Selected IVL because they "were lower than others and promised our stuff would be stored in temperature controlled warehouses".
Packing day arrives - truck driver in a regular moving truck (not the semi I expected), and 3 "professional" packers that had absolutely no idea what they were doing. Turns out, they packed everything, including many food items on the "prohibited list" (that was quite a ripe box to open after 3 months of storage in the humid and hot south). About 3/4 into the day, the drivers tells me "we need a bigger truck" (duh) and they proceed to move stuff to a local warehouse (where I suspect it was also stored for us) vs. the "temperature controlled" warehouse I thought I was getting. Anyway, all packed up and we head to our final destination to look for a new house. I enquire about the amount of packing we did vs. our "professional" packers and what kind of cost deduction I could see...crickets. Turns out ALL of the items we self packed arrived with no issues, not so for the stuff packed by our "professionals".
Once we found a new house and I communicated our closing date, I got bounced between IVL and our "contracted" company (Cosmos Transport). Not hearing a delivery date, I enquired once again and got a "WE'LL NOTIFY YOU WHEN WE ARE READY" email, yes, all caps. Delivery day, truck shows as planned and again, "professional" helpers that had no clue about moving stuff into a house. Then the fun begins - broken dining room chair, chipped china cabinet, gouges in the wall, etc. Start to unpack stuff and find what I call the "box o pots", all pots and pans, no paper, just thrown in. Discover that an entire dishpack with wife's cooking stuff (mixing bowls, rolling pins, mixer, etc) is missing - we are convinced that in the process of moving in/out of storage the box broke open and they said "** it" and left the stuff there.
I had purchased moving insurance from Baker and we reached a reasonable settlement on the damages. I realized in the very, very fine print that IVL does show they are a broker. Not really sure where the 4 and 5 star reviews are coming from, but it's obviously not from anyone that had their move "brokered out".Final thought - use the name brands that use only their own people and vehicles, I wish I had. If you are considering IVL - run, very fast

We provided the representative with a list of everything we intended on moving. The second hint of a scam was the moving truck didn't arrive on the promised day. After their "sub-contracted" movers begin the loading process, they flag the customers' phone numbers and will not answer the customer tries to call. They sub-contract all of their work. All of their sub-contractors drive 26' rental trucks because the driver does not have to have a CDL (Commercial Drivers License). They are a Florida-based company (only). They do not have any offices or moving facilities other than the one that is Florida-based. As far as I have been able to determine, International Van Lines does not own ONE truck.
In short, I ended up paying much more than originally quoted and part of my property was left in New Jersey. Thank GOD I work for the US DOD. This move was work-related and I have been assigned an attorney based in Florida. We have finished our homework on this SHAM company and will be filing my lawsuit in the next three weeks. They have SCAMMED many people and it is my intent to SHUT THIS CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE DOWN.

An absolutely fantastic moving company. I hired them a few weeks out from my move. They showed up promptly, put down a ton of protective stuff on the stairs in my new home, and knocked out the move quickly. Really professional and awesome!

We recently moved out of state and hired International Van Lines to move our 3-bed, 2-bath home from Southern California to Texas. As we’re finally catching our breath from the move, I wanted to take the time to inform others of what you can really expect when moving with this company. Their service was by far the most unprofessional, disorganized and seemingly unethical process we’d ever experienced. About our Move. We opted to go with International Van Lines due to both their 4.8 star rating on several sites as well as their original estimated cost. We were slated to move the last weekend in October – Loading on the 29th and officially departing from our old house early on the 30th.
Working with IVL. The initial estimate we received on the fly was $9500(+/-). This would include a “full service” move where movers would load everything we have and relocate all our belongings from California to Texas. Delivery would likely take place in 2-10 days. The next step was to get a more accurate estimate. In doing so, I was asked to walk from room to room and state “what won’t fit in a box” and at the end, we were asked for a “total box count”. These two requests are what was used to get us a more accurate estimate. In doing so, it brought our price down to $8000(+/-). A $2500 deposit was collected at this time.
At this point, all of our correspondence had been handled by a “Relocation Specialist”. After paying our initial $2500 deposit, we were then assigned an “Account Manager” that was to be our point of contact to help us along the way regarding our move. So they said. Over the next 48 hours our box count increased as we were still packing. Per their request, we gave an updated box count the day before they arrived and our new estimate escalated up to $10,454 for seemingly an insignificant amount of additional boxes. We paid another $576 deposit because of the increase in box count.
The evening before we they were to arrive we received an obscure, unformatted email from a different moving company (LD Moving & Storage) stating their time of arrival the following morning. Almost at the same time the email arrived, we received a call from a rude person at LD Moving & Storage stating we needed to have $3682 in cash, money order or cashier's check ready for the driver. It literally felt like we were being robbed of money. I questioned who they were and who our original contract was with and they assured me they were the same company. Rest assured, it was very unsettling having someone other than IVL contacting us, asking for $3682. Cash.
In digging further that evening, it was clear that IVL had sub-contracted us to a company with only 1.8 star reviews. After reading the reviews for LD Moving & Storage, we were now concerned about our items getting damaged or making it there at all. I reached out to our Account Manager, addressed our concerns and she assured me that all of their “partners” are properly vetted, etc. I clearly caught her off-guard and she rebutted my concerns with senseless fluff, hoping to put my mind at ease. She didn’t. This was the first and last correspondence with our Account Manager.
The morning of pickup, a standard moving truck arrives – NOT the semi-truck we expected to see taking our house cross-country. Our belongings were now to be loaded onto this smaller truck, then later unloaded and reloaded onto the actual semi-truck which was International Van Lines. This means our belongings were being moved twice, before they even left the state.
The bigger shock was once LD Moving & Storage was on-site and assessed what was to be moved, the price went up again to a total of $13,625. They recalculated all our belongings and felt it was more than what was originally quoted to IVL. Given that we had to be out of our house and they were already there, we had no choice but to move forward. We were then told our delivery would be in 2-30 days (possibly 20 days longer than quoted).
A little over a week, we received a call from another new person – the driver for IVL. He said they were in Austin and would deliver in 1-3 days. He also expressed concern that they would not be able to get a semi-truck down our street and we would need to pay another $1700 for a shuttle service. The shuttle would then move our belongings from the semi-truck, back to a smaller moving truck and then to our house. So now, our belongings had been loaded/unloaded yet another time, leaving more room for damage to take place.
I had insisted that semi-trucks (especially moving) routinely park on the street to move people in/out and we didn’t require the shuttle. Despite my opinion and observations, the shuttle had to be used either way. Having to shuffle from truck to truck added a few more days for delivery. This new cost of $1700 for the shuttle was never documented, never made it to a receipt, etc. To my knowledge, it was an arbitrary number set forth by the semi-driver. In addition to the $1700, I needed to have the total delivery amount of $7700 ready in the form of a USPS money order. Specifically “USPS”. It should be known that to acquire $7700 in money orders one has to go to their bank and withdraw that amount in cash. Then, head to your local USPS and request 8 money orders ($1000 is the max).
A few days later, a new person from the third moving company (The Blue Husky) reaches out via text, indicating an estimated time of arrival. They arrive with our belongings in 3 vehicles: 1 Uhaul truck and 2 personal pickups. After paying a total of $15k for a move, to see our belongings in the back of pickup trucks was hard to swallow. What was even more unsettling was 3 of the team members, at 3 separate times stating, “We didn’t need a shuttle, they could have parked the semi on this street”. In short, making it clear, we forked over $1700 for a shuttle service we didn’t need.
To Recap• Our moving price went from: $9500 > $8000 > $10454 > $13625 + $1700 = $15,325.
• Our timing from pickup to delivery was 12 days (CA to TX).
•From start to finish, we were reached out to by 6 different people between the three moving companies, all with limited knowledge of what was taking place. We had zero assistance or correspondence from our “Case Manager” and nothing with regard to organizing or managing our move was in place.
In the end, our belongings were delivered and arrived with modest damage. We do have scratches and scuffs on most of the items THEY packed/wrapped but in the end, if the moving experience was this much of an unorganized nightmare, I can only imagine the process of getting items replaced or fixed. We’ve already been through more anxiety and stress with this company than we care to go through again.
Again, the purpose of this review is to inform others of what they are getting into. Sadly, reviews like this are a drop in the bucket for large companies such as International Van Lines and will likely go unaddressed. The truth is, companies like IVL pay for their reviews and rankings through third parties and knowing people don’t relocate often, most of their customers are not repeat business. In turn, this allows them the luxury of conducting business this way with no repercussions. Jeff M **

Josh is the owner, and he is trustworthy, bright and kind. He was straightforward with me from the starting and helped me save money on the move. The move ended up costly, MUCH less than the other company quoted, and the entire staff was full of integrity. John crew is excellent, and he treats them generously (pays them fairly, doesn't demand over time, and brings them lunch!), which makes a difference in the crew's professionalism. I am so happy we went with International Van Line.

I never leave bad reviews and try to give people the benefit of the doubt. However this time I must speak of the complete negligence and unprofessionalism of International Van Lines. We have moved professionally 5 times. Those moves were handled professionally and with care. Unfortunately International Van Lines has been the most horrible experience we have ever had. To start they told us the day before our movers were to arrive that they did not service New Mexico so they would be contracting out our move. Why they waited to let me know the day before when I booked the move way in advance not sure but very unprofessional.
I was working with Lisa and her response was she is only required to give me 24 hrs notice that they would be contracting out our move. Requirements and customer service are 2 very different things. We had a 2200 sq ft 3 car garage home. When the movers arrived they were from American Knight and it was only 2 people and a truck that wasn’t large enough to hold our household goods. They also had to add quite a bit to our bill in the end. The mover said this is done regularly to give a low quote and then jack up the price. Price isn’t the issue however. I don’t mind paying for a professional move. We did not receive a professional move. They had to pack and then put our things in a warehouse and come back.
All our other moves we were sent a team of 5 or 6 people to pack. Our items would be placed on a truck and that truck would then deliver our items. Not with this move. (Our items were left in some warehouse. Items left unpacked on the ground pieces of items completely disorganized. How do I know this. The delivery driver told me that’s how he found our things in the warehouse when he went to pick them up for delivery. I saw in his truck also our items loose and strewn about.) Needless to say it took 2 full days into the night to get us packed. Once we moved we did not see any of our items from Oct. 12 until Dec. 1. As we waited for our delivery I heard nothing from Lisa or anyone else from IVL about when we might get our delivery. I had to email them and they would refer me to American Knights.
I tried to be patient with all that is going on in the world. When we finally got our delivery it was a complete disaster. I haven’t even unpacked yet and have found lots of damage. My coffee table leg broken, our NordicTrack bike cord/electric box missing, Pilates machine pieces all over truck, somehow they broke my recliner chair. It was obvious care was not taken of our items. I have no idea what I will find once I unpack. We paid $26,000 for a professional move and we got 2 guys hired off the street with a truck.
First I emailed IVL about our terrible experience and did not hear back. Then I called and left a message and did not hear back. So I went to the website and contacted customer service. Lisa called me right away after that. Lisa did not seem to care much about my situation, showed no empathy or apology and just kept repeating to fill out damages and submit it to the proper dept. She said that wasn’t her dept. She also said American Knights had to pay and they will pay .60 cents per pound. In other words not much. IVL is taking no responsibility for hiring unprofessional movers on our behalf and not informing us that we would be paying for a professional move but they would be sending unprofessional inexperienced people. I did try to get insurance but the cost was over $8000. My homeowners insurance was less than $2000 for an entire year! So that seemed excessive or fraudulent.
Our items were not well taken care of left who knows where for 2 months and IVL whom we paid $26,000 for a professional move took our money and doesn’t care. I would highly recommend YOU DO NOT USE IVL for any of your move. They are unprofessional dishonest. I plan to leave a review for American Knight Movers also. People need to know the poor quality of both companies. I am planning to fill out complaints with the Better Business Bureau as well as consumer affairs govt agency. If for no other reason to warn others.

If you value your belongings--if you want any sanity left after moving, DO NOT USE INTERNATIONAL VAN LINES. We are NOT inexperienced movers. As an international executive, my husband, has had to move the family several times during the course of 40 years. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A WORST EXPERIENCE. You make arrangements and pay top dollar to International Van Lines and a few days before, after a large deposit has been made, they informed you they are SUB CONTRACTING the move to some smaller, less reputable movers. We got SO CAL MOVING ENTERPRISE.
From the very start, they were unreliable. Did not come the day scheduled and came late the next day. Movers were not professionals, did not speak English, had no idea of proper handling. We had to stay at a hotel for two days. Worst--our furniture was ruined and my dishes BROKEN. The absolutely worst was moving in to new place. Damage on walls and falls and since they did know how to carry the furniture - tears in chairs, scratches on wood furniture, etc. Good dishes smashed. We filed claim with them - tried contacting them endlessly. You guessed it--NO Response. DO NOT USE INTERNATIONAL VAN LINES or SO CAL.

This company is by far the best moving company I’ve ever used. I have moved three times, so I’m going off of my past experiences. They wrapped all my furniture in plastic wrap and made sure to bring it to my house without any damage.

They moved everything with care. I expected they would finish my unit in about 3 hours but actually 2 only. I heard many moving companies will move as slow as they can because customers pay by hours. But they are actually not the ones. They did a great job, and those two movers are very friendly as well. (Sorry, I have a hard time remembering people names.) If you are moving to a small or medium-size home, you should give them a try!
