I have never had problems with any contractor that I hired from Home Advisor or Angie’s List. I think Home Advisor has gotten too complicated. I liked how Angie’s List would just give me a list of people to call. HA’s cost estimator is useless and their efforts at trying to get you to hire specific people seems intrusive.

Went to Home Advisor to shop for price/contractors. Easy to use on the categories. Home Advisor displayed multiple options for what I needed to get done. This wasn't the first project I used Home Advisor for, will be returning again.

I did get a call from Home Advisor to see if my job was taken care of, but it was about 2 weeks after the initial inquiry. Would have liked a call a little sooner. Very satisfied with the company I used.

Approximately 200 ft.² of laminate flooring installed in the family room. There was some furniture to be moved in order to complete the job. There was direct access to the work area from the back door. They arrived on time and completed the job in the minimum time.

Within 10 minutes I had two pros on the line, and the next day San's Tree Service in the Asheville, NC. quoted and scheduled. Today, the job was completed as quoted and was the most professional service we have ever had. We received follow up phone calls from Home Advisor making sure were got what we asked for and were satisfied. We are happy to have found Home Advisor and San's Tree Service. We will remember Home Advisor the next time we have a project that is too big for us to do alone.

When I requested a referral for someone to reglaze my kitchen sink, I heard immediately from Home Advisor recommending Cali Reglazing Inc. Thank you for your prompt response. This firm was exceptional in the promptness, professionalism and work ethic. I would certainly recommend them to anyone. The young that did the work is Rene. He is an outstanding job. We received a good referral for a great wood fence builder through Home Advisor. The contractor was great to work with. They built a fence to our specifications and were timely, skillful, and pleasant to work with. I would not have located them without Home Advisor. Used the Home Advisor to setup a weekly lawn maintenance at an office building. First they didn’t show up. They automatically rescheduled a week later. Then they didn’t perform the service because I was supposedly not “home” in a four story medical office building. They refused to give me my money back. Beware this scam.

I hired a Home Advisor "Pro" yesterday for a project on my home... It was a terrible experience, as the person was at my house for 6 hours (thankfully the work was on the exterior of the home, hanging Christmas lights). I've done this job myself over the past few year, and it is a only a 2.5 - 3 hour project. After 6 hours, of him arguing with his wife (who as he said had to come due to his driver's license being suspended), the two of them swearing profanities, discussing and I how the husband might drive an hour away to get a "FIX" and leave the wife here. Which blow my mind because they know we have outside cameras that record sound and picture (as I found it unusual when they pulled into my driveway that this was one of the first items they commented on when they looked over the house).

The heating system in my sister-in-law’s house was malfunctioning - the pilot light went out and could not be re-ignited. Lopez P & H Mechanical LLC sent Frankie out who arrived when promised. He was well prepared and completed the repair in a reasonable amount of time period to my satisfaction. I am happy with Home Advisor’s service and would recommend it.

It was my first experience with Home Advisor, but had good recommendations from friends. It was a bit confusing at first as I received many calls and text messages from potential repairmen. It wasn't clear who was assigned to my case. Luckily that was straightened out with service rep. I was charged at first by someone claiming to be the repairman, who came unannounced. I was apprehensive about using this service, but in the end the refund was made and I am satisfied.

I was given wrong information from Home Advisors and didn’t want to do business with them, but I received a call from one of the repair company and they said I was given wrong information. The person at home advisors said we had to supply materials and they would supply the name of someone to do the job. I didn’t want to do business through Home Advisor again, but Paul at the company who did our job made it all turn out good.

The company acted with a true sense of urgency. I will call Home Advisor again because not only did they do a good job but the contractors presented and completed his job professionally which reflects on Home Advisor in addition to himself.

HomeAdvisor offered a discount but did not honor it, nor did they answer my email. I asked the company that did the work and they did not know why I did get it. I got an email from home advisor asking how my project is going and I responded, asking about my discount and I got no response.

In doing work with HomeAdvisor I would use only on a job by job basis, do not use the option of paying for a job by letting them pick out someone themselves to come do the work. You as the home owner should let home advisor send you a list of contractors and you pick one and get an estimate to do the job. Realize that the contractor you use has to pay home advisor for the work they perform so it drive up the cost a bit.

Placed interest on Home Advisor website for sliding glass door repairs. Within the first two hours I received 4 calls to bid on the job. I hired one of the first companies due to their professionality on the phone. The company came out the same day and did a very good job repairing nine sliding doors. I will use Home Advisor again.

Complete repair of a four hundred square foot deck including sealant. They arrived on time, completed the project ahead of the estimated time. Work was flawless, Deck looks brand new. Master carpenter was professional and very talented. Jack came out to inspect the work and made sure everything met McFee standards of quality.

Got quite a few recommendations for estimates. The reviews seem very accurate. Phillip Stephens Construction is worth every penny. The score and reviews are very accurate. I like getting emails with additional companies estimating in the project. There is a lot of variety to choose from. It was very easy to get the project estimated and also get some feedback on the potential costs. That way you are not going on blind when getting an estimate on a project when you may not know a lot about the work that goes into it.

My heater would not come on. Mechanical Monster came out to assess the problem on a Tuesday and on Wednesday the job was finished. The technicians were knowledgeable and professional. Great job! I would recommend Mechanical Monster to service other homeowners because of their quick and professional service. They also gave me advice on how to maintain my heater. Therefore, I recommend that home owners purchase the service plan in Oder to insure that her heat continues to work efficiently.

Home Advisor is a great way to get a project started. There are so many companies out there, and sometimes you don't know where to turn. They give you some very useful information about who to choose from others who have had the same problems, and how they were helped.

Main sewage pipe from the house to the street was clogged. A set fee to snake the drain was not discussed. Service plan was pushed to snake and hydro jet the drain. Work was performed well but was not expecting to pay for a service plan upfront.

Oil furnace maintenance, they completely took furnace apart to clean and maintain machine. Very professional workers. Very knowledgeable in what they do. I would recommend that anyone needing their furnace worked on that they use Home Advisor. I am very pleased with using Home Advisor.

I appreciate the service with HomeAdvisor.com when it comes to availability of quality pros, mostly. I've had two experiences with them that I wasn't happy with... gutter cleaner and exterminator. On one hand HA took care of the exterminator... But, on the other hand I find I can't go back and find information on people I've listed at times. If I list someone, and they don't work out, it becomes difficult to find that same group again. It's frustrating if you liked two, had one come out and the work not satisfactory but can't go back and find the second one. They've been substituted and no way to find them or why they're not listed any longer on your request. Other than that I've had some good responses and excellent work... On the other hand I've been disappointed by the responding pro. I guess that happens everywhere. Caveat Emptor.

My roll up door crumpled in half. Wouldn’t go up or down. Every place I called wanted a trip charge. Some would apply that trip charge to the repair, others wouldn’t. I reached Miguel and he was so patient with me and his prices were very fair. It was around 5 PM so he asked if he could come over in the morning. He was very prompt!! Not only did he fix the door but he checked other parts of it to make sure everything was working and it’s beautiful. Lance was able to keep his date for the tree removal on the 3rd try but the morning they came, about six people, the work was done. Francisco D., a Guatemalan, did the climbing and he sent all the limbs down in about 45 minutes. They cut up the branches, did a good job cleaning up and then the stump grinder came, removed the stump and another one left by another company. Excellent job, fine folks. I will call them again if I have any tree issues.

This was a targeted assignment, so I didn’t need all the extra recommendations for related activity and the emails that inevitable follow. However, I’m very happy with the end result and so are my tenants.

While researching pool companies, Home Advisor was highly recommending a company that they had already been notified was going bankrupt due to fraud. Unfortunately for us, we trusted the reviews on Home Advisor - and lost over $40k. Bottom line, they really don’t have an oversight mechanism, they’re simply posting whoever pays them. Never trust the reviews.

I appreciate the information and contact info for various companies - but then I felt bombarded with emails and phone calls from HomeAdvisor. Did I hire - who did I hire - how was it - and almost all before 24 hrs. I hadn’t even talked to the pros yet - and visits needed to be scheduled. One phone call from HA got dropped in mid-scheduling - Some company was showing up on Thursday and I had no idea who! The HA consultant didn't call me back. I tried calling back - talked to 3 people to no avail. The Pro I hired was exceptional and I am grateful - but HA was frustrating.

There was only one dealer out of three who was more concerned about customer service than money and price and that was Don **, DK Heating who was a credit. The other two more interested in recouping money from leads in site.

Needed three jobs to be finished. Rewiring of electrical panel. Estimates for insects damage, and replace sidings. All three jobs required to call Home Advisor. I have used Home Advisor for over 10 years and very happy with their pro service.

Have used Home Advisor for many years. Always provide at least three vendors to interview and get estimates from. Always had good or great results with good price. Beats asking a friend or neighbor for one recommendation. Only problem I've had is that quite often the same outfit is too busy or too pricey the next time I want to use them. But H/A always comes up with others.

Locating a reputable professional to replace and up-grade a recalled breaker panel. We were new in the area and were not familiar with professionals in the area. Called water store to repair or replace the water conditioner. Quick service, polite, well trained technician. 2 other businesses tried to sell me a new conditioner. The Pettyjon tech took the cover off and tested the operation of the conditioner. He concluded it could be repaired and did so in a timely manner.

Generally pleased though one of the contractors was a bit confusing to deal with. It was not clear which of three different company names was the actual company responsible for the work and where they were located. Their price was unbelievably high. Dealing with them was a waste of my time.

We hired Home Advisor to send a pro to tuck point our chimney for $500. The mason showed up without a ladder, bringing only a paint tray and a bottle of Bondo. We loaned him our ladder and my husband had to make himself available to assist the worker getting to the chimney. After he went to buy mortar, the work seemed to be well-done (we asked him to take pictures of the completed work) but for $500 for a half-day labor we expected an experienced professional to show up with their own tools and also to bring any assistant that would be needed. Home advisor charged professional mason rates for the level of service I would expect from a handyman.

I had issues with trying to register and making a deposit payment. After 3 days and talking to numerous reps I was able to get it worked out. The reps appeared to be unable and/or unwilling to help. The system was not user friendly.

I was happy that this contractor was signed up with HomeAdvisor. I would never have found them on my own. There was 1 roofing company that was totally unprofessional in my opinion. I threw away their card. I was called, lost connection. They never called back. I called them back Appointment was set up, no show, they called a 1 hour 1/2 later and set up appointment again. Waited at site for 2 hours. Finally showed. Demanded to see other bids I had gotten. Never did send me a bid.

Hardscaping project: boulder retaining wall- 5 foot high x 40 foot long. Excavated, leveled, stone base and hand built using cranes. Project took 2 weeks beginning to end with some nasty weather in between. Workers were professionally dressed and trucks and equipment looked great. Fantastic communication throughout the project.

So my experience with the contractor who repaired the dishwasher was stellar. My experience with HomeAdvisor was scary as hell. Used the website and got to a page that I qualified for a Fixed Price repair and the page said it was for almost $430.... for a dishwasher repair, I can buy a new one for $600. I closed the webpage and moved on to another app (Thumbtack) because I wanted no part of that. I did receive some emails and phone calls from HomeAdvisor but again with them 'quoting' $430 I wanted no part of that. When the contractor called me I answered and worked with him no problems. Go to say, that saved this rating. My guess is that the people can contacted me from HomeAdvisor would have been just as helpful but that price scared me from your service.

Lagunas painting did a fabulous job painting my kitchen cabinets. He kept me apprised every step of the way. They sanded and primed the cabinets before painting to ensure great quality. The color is exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier.

D&M Quality Construction gave a fair price and we received First Class Service. And we would highly recommend Daniel for Electrical Service. Daniel cleaned the area after installing the Electrical Panel. Quick and Efficient. Daniel also corrected ground issues on my hot water heater.

We had a leaky and damaged bay window gutter. They removed the old gutter and installed the new gutter plus sealed the seams and corners. They came on time and went right to work. I had a 5" gutter and they replaced it with a 6" gutter and down spout with no additional charge. They also hauled the old gutter off.

I liked having the freedom to search and compare various professionals and find the one that worked best for me and I've found some really awesome ones that I continue to work with. Sadly Home Advisor now limits one's ability to do any research and tries to force you into paying for service professionals through them who never bother to call or show up.

HomeAdvisor is a good site for home projects when you not sure where to look or hire for projects that need to be done around the home. I feel they know the companies that are out there that can do any job.

To begin, our sales consultant Patrick ** lied to us from the beginning, and he got the spelling of my name wrong, which in return held up my background check. He told us we would receive an inflated amount of leads each month and promised us a free lead when we signed up, which we never did receive. I made it clear that we did not want our home address on our profile, and it ended up there for customers to see. We had to call and have it removed, which took 20 minutes or more to get that corrected. I tried to update the credit card on file to a new card, and the system wouldn't let me saying I had to call, which took another 20 minutes to get that fixed. I have gotten five spam texts about house cleaning, which isn't even one of our services. Then the only lead we get turns out to be a joke.

Termite control and replacing damaged wood. The termites had damaged a lot of the wood around a window and facia boards. After the termite treatment, the crew painted and replaced all the damaged wood. We were very pleased with their work, and that it was done in such a short amount of time. I have used and will continue to use HA. My only concern is the ability to communicate directly with HA. On the part you make $ on it's great. But if I have a concern you are invisible. I have twice tried to arrange a partial bathroom remodel, new shower box, pan and rile time shower and tub. You repeatedly suggest a bathroom remodel around $10k yet on this partial the quotes run $15k - $28k - on a partial. Why the extreme discrepancy? I feel like your remodelers are trying to rip us off. Why would a partial remodel, nothing special, be $28 when you suggest the a complete remodel in my area is around $10k?

After booking an appointment I then got 2-3 more text messages from HomeAdvisor that my job was being sent out for additional quotes. Why would I want additional quotes after I already booked someone?

Kitchen drain needed to be cleaned out. My use of plunger was ineffective. Exterior hose bib needed to be used for flushing water but had to be replaced because it was inoperative. After flushing the system, drainage was still emitting material. The roof vent was snaked from the roof inlet which cleared the vent and allowed the drain system to operate normally..

He put in a water softener system for me and offered to give me a reverse osmosis system for the sink for free. He allowed me to decide what to do about our water heater, which we decided to wait on, because of other projects we were already doing, and when we do decide on a water heater, I am contacting him to do it.
