We’ve used HomeAdvisor 3 times now when we needed work done on our home. Can’t say enough about their professionalism and quick response to our needs. The companies they recommended have been top notch. We highly recommend to any homeowner that needs work done.

I am a contractor using HomeAdvisor/Angie's List (owned by HA now). I have had many instances where a customer's info is sent to me and who knows how many other companies. The customer is required to put in their personal information BEFORE being allowed to search this site. The reason is so they can send your info out to 3 or more different companies and charge us for the info. Called a "lead". Unfortunately this is NOT told to the customer, so if they are just price shopping, multiple companies and getting charges anywhere from $10 to$100 depending on the service they are looking for. We know it's not your fault as a customer but this does need to be noted somewhere.

I was interrupted during my search on HomeAdvisor, but the person they put me in touch with was the best service repair person I have ever had in my house. He kept me informed about what he was doing, how the machine works and what he thought I should get done and what didn't need to be done yet. Great service!

In the past, I have had trouble with the people I have hired. HomeAdvisor has REAL reviews and only recommend the best. With a click of a button you will have qualified companies contacting you. I use this web site for all my home needs.

Leak repair where roof flashing attaches to the wall. The contractor used a tape which is used to cover existing flashing and then they painted the tape black. There nothing else I can add, simply the repair was so insignificant.

The Amazon Prime of Home Repairs - Title says it all, fast, reliable, and reasonable. Not only did I receive a call from the contractor within seconds of requesting a list of plumbers, I also received a call later from HA to ask how I was getting along and if I needed any additional assistance. How can you not like that? Resolved a water heater replacement in a few hours from going onto HA to having the water tank installed and working again.

HomeAdvisor has been a great help. Smart service! It sends out queries to available "pros" who subscribe to their service and if they're available and interested they can connect to you immediately. Goes Yelp a few steps better by adding speed and interest on the part of the pro for a customer's available work.

HomeAdvisor recommended three companies to be contacted for my dryer vent cleaning. I did business with one of them, and HomeAdvisor followed up by contacting me for an evaluation. I believe they want to serve the public well by making available a list of reputable companies that the average homeowner can use.

Most of the professional people we knew in this area were dead or retired so we turned to HomeAdvisor to find a reputable electrician to help us with a home project. We went online looking at around 4 p.m. and by 10 a.m. the next morning the job was finished. I don't think we have ever had better service than that. Thanks HomeAdvisor.

The reviews that different companies and contractors receive on their website are accurate and fair. With HomeAdvisor, we've learned about many good companies that we wouldn't have learned of without this referral agency. It can pre-screen contractors in a way that we can't. We really appreciate this company.

I have a home inspection business. I was with HomeAdvisor for a year. I tried to cancel multiple times. They offer free leads to get you to stick around and now I'm stuck paying for another year because it auto renewed. My fault for forgetting to cancel, however the lead system is flawed. I have complained multiple times to them but it will never change. Any contractor that signs up for this service will be dreading it in less than a month. They pin you against other pros to basically cold call these potential clients, who never answer the phone, or get pissed at you for calling. The only one making profit at HomeAdvisor, is HomeAdvisor. I could go on for days as to why this service is bogus. The only way to make HomeAdvisor go away is for people to stop using them! I bet 1000 bucks this review won't even show up on their "Consumer Affairs" review site.

Sent the right kind of person to help me and I found out for the first time where a filter was for my second furnace that has never been cleaned for 10 years! He told me how to clean it and I washed it and let it dry overnight and replaced it so I can breathe easier.

Bathtub refinish - They arrived when they said they would and got right to work. They had a tube, to stick out of a window to reduce some of the strong odor from getting trapped in the house. The final product looked great, even if it took longer than they anticipated... I will use them again!

I have paid and paid and paid HomeAdvisor and they do take our money but their customers are only looking for prices or something for next to nothing. We have to pay for each and every lead and now the scam is they (HomeAdvisor) says we have an appointment with possible customer X but we did not make an appointment with that customer or any customer and we are billed for it... I have tried to end our relationship but they are NON Responsive. Except for their billing... They bill alright but we just don't get work from it. I do not or will not ever recommend Home Advisor to anyone. They take but do not deliver.

I went on HomeAdvisor for an electrician. He was very quick to reply and give me an estimate. I went back on HomeAdvisor to get another estimate so I could compare the two. I did not receive any responses from the 2nd request. Then the next day I tried again, and did not hear back from anyone. I wound up going on Google and getting a random electrician to give me my 2nd estimate. I did use the one I received from Home Advisor who was excellent, but I don't understand why no one else contacted me.

I was pleased with the service I had on snow removal at our Filly Lane residence. It snowed, he came, it was clear. Easy as that. He will bill us monthly for his services. Twenty-five dollars each time. We are happy with this arrangement since we are both in our mid-seventies and need this help.

I would like to start by saying that I am a single mom with 6 kids who works really hard for her money to provide for her family. I started my own company and received many marketing offers. I did briefly looked for reviews and I made the mistake of signing up with HomeAdvisor. They took over $100 dollars from me. They send me a bunch of leads and 9 out 10 of the leads were fake people. Never agreed to be contacted and they were not in the market to get any services. I talked to many people. Try to reason with them. Make them understand how much harm was causing to my family. They don't care. They just take everything from you and will take you to depression because you can't even provide for your family as they take your money. Please do your research before making my mistake. Your family will appreciate being able to have a roof over their head and a plate of food in their tables???

If you’re a contractor do not sign on with Home Advisor. This company will rob you blind at signup. They lie of what they offer and then once signed on you get stale leads and you get charge for leads that you never could get a hold of. On top of these ridiculous fees they will place you in collections for the ridiculous dead end leads they sent you! If you’re a contractor steer away from signing up with these companies. All they do is rob you of your hard earned money! The only one that benefits are these consumers that are just shopping around and are not required to pay any fees!

I will use Home Advisor again for any needs that arise in the future. I contacted Home Advisor when I needed some electrical work done and they provided me with names of companies who were in my area. I chose one of those recommendations and was very happy with the work that was done and the price that I paid. I also appreciate the e-mails that they send concerning other projects and their approx. cost. Home Advisor was recommended to me and I will certainly recommend this site to others.

Almost immediately, I receive the list of highly rated specialists, who perform the projects. I got recommendations on roofers from friends,and went to HomeAdvisor to check them out. NEVER filed a form. Getting endless calls from roofers.The first roofer I told I never submitted anything. Gave me a number to HomeAdvisor. They say I have no file open. Well at least we agree on something! Now all of a sudden we are getting calls from roofers who have appointment times! I NEVER made appointments. I just know one of them is going to show up at my door. Who gave the authority for that??? I am beyond frustrated and HomeAdvisor cannot help me. Don't use them!!!

Definitely liked the feature of HA providing recommended contractors. It provided ease and simplicity with our selection of a contractor. It also allowed us to communicate immediately. However, I did not like how it appears HA sends out text messages on the customer's behalf.

Was voicing my frustrations to a coworker about being new to the area and I couldn't find a contractor to do anything. I couldn't even get anybody to show up and I was wasting so much time trying to find somebody. I've been a member for a week today. I have had my garage door modified to allow installation of a car lift, a tree cut down, and wiring done on my house to add 220V plug to my garage. They couldn't get me a plumber for my broken tankless water heater, however, I'm really happy with this. HomeAdvisor has become a common term in our house. Thanks.

The person I spoke to at HomeAdvisor was courteous and prompt. Zuhlke Tree Service got the job done for $500. Two men took down a 50 foot tall spruce that was leaning in toward the house. It was definitely a difficult job. The workers were strong, courteous, and competent. I would use the service again.

While there were not many recommendations (I believe there were 2 but one was a national company that did not have reviews on local repairmen), the bottom line is they gave me what I needed quickly and I was very happy with their recommendation.

HomeAdvisor first charges over $400 for just membership, yearly. Expensive for a small business. Each lead then costs an additional 30-60% of the total cost of the job. When you hire a pro through HomeAdvisor, HomeAdvisor themselves is criminally keeping most of the money from your job. The typical lead cost is anywhere from 25-50$ just for a TV mount lead. In addition to that, HomeAdvisor submits that lead to many contractors, each of which is paying the absurdly high lead cost and HomeAdvisor ends up profiting FAR more than any of the pros. For a typical TV mounting, we charge $100-150. HomeAdvisor leads cost us (usually) $35.55. And that is regardless of whether or not the customer chooses our service, or even if we can get in contact with them.

I was told I will be getting new breaker, but I noticed he reuses other breaker he salvaged on my job. Not happy about it. He also break several holes in my wall that cost me a lot of money to patch. And he seems very aggressive (verbal abusive) with his worker. He is late to the work on two days he worked on my project. Overall I am somewhat satisfied because he gets the work done. Not sure I'd hire him again.

I hired Coombs Creek Maintenance, LLC, to initially remove mold and after opening the wall we discovered extensive termite damage. Larry, the owner and his crew got to work quickly to remove damaged wood and rebuild the wall quickly so that I was only inconvenienced a short period of time. I believe they did an outstanding job and keep the work space very clean. I would highly recommend his company who values quality work at reasonable rates.

Excellent source for local craftsmen. We have been very pleased with every contractor that we got through Home Advisor. We have used them five times in the last year and are totally satisfied with every job from masonry to pressure washing to window cleaning and gutter cleaning.

If you own a business and you are not open 24/7, HomeAdvisor will tell you you have the ability to turn your leads off at night and turn them back on during the day when you are open. At least that’s how it used to work. For the last month I have not received any leads as a contractor while paying HomeAdvisor for their service. And by that I mean zero leads. After complaining to customer service several times I finally talked to someone and found out that because I actually use one of their features, the one where you could turn your leads on and off, that my leads are not going to work when on. I was told that when you turn them off, and then turn them back on, that they may take up to two days for them to actually start back up. Well if they are not going to come on when I turn them on, then why am I paying them for anything at all.

Our work was done to budget, on time, and on short notice for an antenna that improved my reception from 20 channels that came in to 56, very pleased and wish I did this years ago. Norm and his helper were very professional and offered several other products and services I will consider in the future through Custom Security and Communications.

Rudy and team did a FANTASTIC job. They poured just over 300’ of 12’ wide driveway, a 30’ X 50’ parking pad and a 14’ X 24’ car port pad. Access to my property was not easy but he and his team made it work. They were not the cheapest and by far not the most expensive, the low bid is not always the best way to go. Rudy made two trips to visit the site and then brought one of his supervisors for a visit, all pre-bid! By Rudy showing that much interest in the bid, he set the bar real high for the other 4 contractors. The weather did not cooperate and it threw him off schedule a couple of days, but the attention to detail and his great workers got the job done. New Frontier Construction Services will be on the top of my list for my next concrete job and I will recommend them to my friends.

Broken links, bad emails, calls from unwanted pros - I love MY CHOICE, however, it seems that you guys had your own agenda. It sounded like you wanted me to pick another pro and you called me and emailed me and then you had them email and call me. Not cool.

I hired the highest rated guy, and I'm very satisfied with the whole process. I trust Home Advisor's verified reviews and ratings. I will continue to make Home Advisor my go-to source.

Replace dryer vent - I got bids from HomeAdvisor and a Collin County home services guide. I went with the Home Advisor handyman because he spent more time and effort to give me a free estimate and explain exactly what he was going to do. He came to my house to look over the job then went home and emailed me a written estimate. I chose him and he worked especially hard to do a job that will last so I will never have to do it again.

This was my first experience with Home Advisor. Was pleased with the contacts given and from that I was able to choose a local company. This company OVER THE TOP ROOFING was amazing. They were on time for work. Good clean work. And HONEST. Plan on having them do my garage roof in a year or two.

Gas burner repair - The Doctor plumbers were efficient and professional. They gave us an estimate then reduced the payment. They gave us a time frame for the work and finished in that time. We were without heat and a few hours later, we were warm again. We are definitely going to call them on a regular basis when needed. I would highly recommend to friends and family.

Removed old mattress and box springs. They were prompt, in fact, they called and said they could come out sooner, which was great! They were courteous and offering to take more of our junk if I needed them to. I will definitely use again!

Aluminum fence repair - I received a couple of options from Home Advisor for this job. After receiving quotes from two companies, I had the work done by one of them. The only negative comment I have is that one quote was more than double the other. I’m pretty sure that company is used to doing commercial jobs as opposed to residential work. My take away is, always do your homework and be diligent before selecting a contractor, even if they are recommended by anyone including Home Advisor.

Electric storm shutter jumped track due to loose motor. The shutter unrolled completely outside the track. This was a very large shutter. The cover the hide the shutter when completely rolled up was partially dislodged and bent. The motor was reinstalled and cover was straighten as mush as possible and restalled. Shutter was rolled back in the housing.

There were no pop-ups, no excessive emails, no spamming. The website allowed me to just enter my info, get my quotes, and get my job completed. I have been waiting for a site like this for years. Very nice job!

I was a little leery about hiring a contractor with my experience this summer with work done outside. I found HomeAdvisor and AMV Remodeling and met with owner, Adam ** a few times. I couldn't of found a better contractor for my total bathroom remodel. His work ethic, quality of work was top notch down to every detail. He takes pride in his work and his employee Matt is a great asset to his company. My bathroom turned out beautiful and I am looking forward to seeing him in February to do my downstairs bathroom. I've used Home Advisor about 5 times over the last two years for plumbing, patio build, and outside ant removal. All have been satisfactory. I would prefer that HA keep me abreast of when I've met my qualification for $50.

On my first attempt to find a repair technician, the technician scheduled a time to look at my system. He contacted me the day prior to the appointment and said he would have to delay and would contact me to reschedule. I did not hear from him again. A year later I contacted two different contractors who both indicated they were not willing to attempt the repair. I tried again with Home Advisor and was contacted by Simply Efficient Solar. I hired Simply Efficient Solar and am completely satisfied with the work performed.

I needed a quick turnaround to get my gutters cleaned. HomeAdvisor made it so easy to get quotes. I got a response from three contractors within minutes. They were courteous and professional. I would recommend them to others for prompt response.

Electrical panel upgrade. They upgraded the panel to 200 amp service, ran a new circuit to the kitchen and placed and wired a 60 amp sub panel in the attic. They were nice people to work with and the owner, Sam, was in constant contact before, during and after the project.

Here is my story: I signed up to HomeAdvisor, I do not need the work right now but I did just to see how it works, the recruiter (account manager) was pretty forceful and told me that I wouldn't be charged for any leads I did not want. After a few conversations I thought I might as well try it. She told me to just say yes to everything in the prompt and work through talk prompt. She even jumped in a few times to tell me what to do. I did what she said. About 2 weeks later I was reviewing my expenses and seen that I had multiple charges.

I was very pleased that I could edit my initial negative review since the company tried to be prompt and efficient after a delay in shipping. The app allowed me to update my review and my initial negative review caused the vendor to get on the stick and finish the job.

I needed a sheetrock repairman for multiple areas of wall damage that I thought would be a smaller job than it actually was. I received two responses only, so I hired one of the two and I am so pleased with the results, the price, and the communication and respect for my time the business displayed. Super happy and not sure if I would have chosen this company without HomeAdvisor.

Had a back flowing/clogged garage drain. I had tried a few other plumbers and had gotten no callbacks, so I tried Home Advisor. I had a call within 5 minutes of my submission and the plumber was amazing. He was there within a few hours and took care of the problem quickly. Reasonable cost and would use him again. I will look at Home Advisor now first.

Large appliance repair. It was very easy to use their website. The whole experience went very well. Hired the first company suggested and we are happy. Later that same day another user called my cell phone and wanted a quote from me to fix something. I told her it must have been a mistake from HomeAdvisor. No one else called us so all's well that ends well.

They removed all cabinet doors. Then sanded front, sides of all cabinets that were in kitchen. All of the cabinets then were lightly painted and wiped down so grain of wood could be seen. After paint dried they glazed the cabinets. At the shop the cabinet doors were cleaned, sanded, painted and glazed, laying flat so a thick coat of glaze would not run. After all doors, cabinets were dry, they brought the door back to my home and installed all the doors back to the cabinets. They made sure all hardware was replaced level and correct. They then cleaned the kitchen and floors. Left area as they found it.

They give me a list of contractors, I read over the reviews and then I make my selections on contractors from whom to obtain estimates. It's up to me to select the best suited based upon my criteria.

Promptly connected us to an electrician. The electrician was available at short notice to install a new stove and we felt that the work was excellent. Our only complaints were that they worked fewer hours than was initially estimated and that they wanted to charge more than was initially estimated ($620 rather than $500). We paid the $500.

I request credit on leads I am unable to reach if they don't return calls or emails. I asked to speak to a supervisor today and asked why 2 recent leads ineligible for credit. She told me I am paying for advertising NOT leads. After a long back and forth, I requested a transcript of my call as I am considering contacting the AG in CT (where I do business) and she told me I would have to subpoena it if I want one! All their calls are recorded but you have to hire a lawyer to get a transcript? Is it a lead if you can't connect? I have seen so many negative reviews from the contractor side that I am amazed that they are not being investigated for unfair business practices.

HomeAdvisor doesn't post all reviews. I have put in reviews for companies that don't follow up and they wil not post the review. They only post reviews for companies you pay. As a customers I want to know why people didn't choose a company too. I have posted a review on a company I did pay and that did a horrible job but they did not approve the posting. It was a professional posting that stated the facts so I'm curious to know why. Do pros pay extra to have all posting approved by them?

Gave several companies to work with, and provided good follow up. Nice to have several reviews for each company suggested to make choice easy. I liked it showed what companies were listed with BBB. Will use HomeAdvisor in the future.

HomeAdvisor now offers two or three firms to for you to select. Much better arrangement than years ago when your name was given out to all businesses and then you had calls from dozens of firms and for weeks after.

I used to pay for Angie's List but the service I receive from HomeAdvisor is just as good, if not better. I have yet to receive the $50 bonus for completing 3 jobs with them, but hopefully that will be a pain free and easy process.

I ended up staying with the initial contractor and got a really good deal on my repairs... hundreds of dollars less than I anticipated.

Great job completed. Super accommodating our timing due to multiple rescheduling due to countertop installers delays. They came out and shut off gas and electric for old gas and electric connections. Adjustments required for gas line down draft on new cooktop. Installed new cooktop and we're all now set. Will definitely keep Frank's number on my phone.

Plumbing - This was a very pleasant experience. The team showed up on time, neatly dressed, in a clearly identified vehicle. There was an issued with a customer supplied part, which the team took on themselves to contact the manufacturer and they provided a replacement. NO CHARGE. They did a great job and were pleasant to work with.

Working group and equipment was on time to wash 900 sq ft of driveway and sidewalk plus some stucco walls. Very fast and efficient leaving private residence beautiful. Also I might add their boss, Sean **, described exactly what he was going to do and was very friendly.

Closet doors - I had to post this job three times on H.A. before someone actually completed it. Not sure why nobody wanted to do it, it seemed like a fairly simple job. MJA Construction finally did it and I couldn't be happier with the results.

I was able to get my sub-woofer repaired with a walk-in. James was extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. His fee was also extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend James for any electronic repair work you might need. He is the only repair facility in Santa Barbara that does the work on either at his shop or in your home.

I wouldn't recommend using HomeAdvisor for servicing properties or any other services relating to home needs. Pros: It is like a one stop shop when your information is shared to all contractors for services. Cons: Most of the contractors in HomeAdvisor are newly in business or aren't license to operate in that field. They are just marketing themselves. I was able to speak with a HomeAdvisor customer support and was advised that HomeAdvisor does not do a thorough background check on the contractors or requests proof if the contractors have licenses or certificate unless it is State require. Most contractors charge you upon the day of appointment. Which is terrible because they should have inform the customer of any related fees upfront. In the future, I prefer speaking with an actual company for my home services.

I have never worked with anything like HomeAdvisor before and found their service to be logically arranged, easy to use, and very effective. They had several vendors to select from and I chose one that turned out to be excellent.

I contacted HomeAdvisor for an electrical problem I've been having for years. Again, not a week but minimum since 2017. When the electrician came he told me right away, "You need new amperage." I was shocked because when Baldwin Electric did my wiring - they took the cheapest way out!

We are a new business that just started and looked to your company to provide us leads. Right now we are going to have to shut down the doors due to the excessive overcharges and misleading business practices on part of HomeAdvisor. The understanding when we signed up with your business development person was very simple. We would be sent leads that only directly relate to our product or service. If we found leads not valid that we would be credited. Our Cap was $1000 a month.

Demoed carpet, picked up vinyl planking from Lumber Liquidators and trim, installed and removed old plus clean up completely. Were on time each day, communicated throughout the day, removed demoed carpet and did a complete cleanup and walk through!

Called, one day and all the work was done within two days. Three jobs all completed. Chimney work, two doors (fire rated) replaced and Masonry work on stairs with railing repair. Didn't but should have had the electrical work also done (gfic plugs).

I inquired why it was not posted and they stated they have the right to not post certain reviews. My review was very fair and listed only the facts. They stated it would not be posted, but they would watch for additional reviews of the company to decide if they would continue to keep them as part of their services they promote. I just want people who use HomeAdvisor to be aware that not all NEGATIVE reviews are posted by them, which makes me inclined to not use their services. This filtering does those who trust HomeAdvisor for their honesty a real disservice.

I signed up for this. $300 just to join. They send you so many leads, all of them cost you money. Zero of these leads turned into customers. I lost almost a thousand dollars in a month with these people. The leads are so bad they even give refunds for many of these leads. Our company cleans houses. There is no way to profit from a $50 job if it cost $20-$40 just to get the lead. These sales person on the phone will lie and say the leads are cheaper than they really are. Please just research HomeAdvisor scam in google and you will see millions of complaints. Really worried about the integrity of this website and the BBB. Somehow they don't see all the 1 star reviews. If HomeAdvisor was on eBay or Amazon they would have been permanently banned a long time ago. Run and don't look back people.

I paid a membership to this company: HomeAdvisor Pro. I notice that if you open a lid to see it, they charged you. I decided to call them and cancelled my membership, also I sent them an email. They keep sending email after cancellation and I open one email from them and immediately they charged $115.00 to my account. I called them again and asked them about charges after cancellation and they refused to refund my funds. Just be careful people.

HomeAdvisor sales bids that were already closed out by other competitors so in other words they will sell you a bid that another contractor already won a bid closed out and collected on the job. When I called them out on this they said it was a technical error in their computer system which I believe is a lie. They also pulled $287 out of my checking account for annual renewal after I already closed and cancelled my subscription with them with verified confirmation number. I plan on taking them to court and suing them for taking money out of my account after I already closed my HomeAdvisor subscription due to the unethical bids they would sell multiple times after they were closed out. Be warned. Do not mess with HomeAdvisor. They are a crooked company. They just want your money and they charge you for all kinds of ridiculous things. Sincerely ** HomeAdvisor.

The site was quite simple to use and informative though at the conclusion of entering info, it said only one company was available but I subsequently received two additional calls; one of which I hired for the job. Satisfied but a bit of communication that was unexpected.

Hakim ** is a very honest man, good at what he does. I like that about him. He is not a handyman. He will not take any other jobs even if you offer to him. For window repair or replacement he is the one.

However, the cost seemed a bit excessive for the complexity of the project. The technician was very knowledgeable, courteous, and kind. The workmanship was excellent. Would strongly recommend to others.

Started using HomeAdvisor for three large projects at my house. When I started They said I would get 50.00 after third project. I called after third one and they said they stopped that. I could not believe what I heard. After spending over 11000 dollars a big company like HomeAdvisor could not give me 50.00 when they charge 40% to companies that use them. I recommend that no one should use them.
