I thought I would give HomeAdvisor a try after hearing about friends' experience with Angie's List and/or trying to find a contractor on their own. I have to say I was very pleased... I put my information in, potential contractors names were provided. I called the folks up and estimates (sometimes same day) were obtained. Out the of the process, I have found a flooring contractor that I trust and will stick with, which is a huge win for me. Go HA!!!

Very helpful and directed me to the company that I eventually used for my driveway project.

Very professional and highest quality of workmanship. Excellent value for money also. Would recommend to anyone wanting professional installation of audio, video, or security equipment.

Central vac install into an existing house, or retrofit. Difficult job. Very prompt and professional on both the in house quote and the install itself.

I've been using HomeAdvisor for home repairs and improvements for over 3 years and have never been disappointed. The site is easy to navigate and I always get a list of several businesses to choose from. I appreciate the reviews as well. I've never used Angie's List because I don't believe I should have to be a member to receive a trustworthy list of potential businesses to work with. A solid home improvement website should be able to back up quality claims without requiring a membership. Thanks for keeping it simple!

Really glad I used HomeAdvisor. Got a great contractor to do the work I needed done and plan to use it again for future projects. Best of all, it didn't cost me a monthly fee for something I may only use two or three times.

Fixed roof leak, caulked areas which needed it, Removed moss from use by chemical cleaning, installed ridge vent, pressure washed vinyl siding and brick veneer, cleaned clogged gutters and installed new gutter guards.

HomeAdvisor provided good leads for various local contractors used during a home renovation. Contractors hired were all responsive, on time for scheduled appointments, provided fair estimates, exceeded expectations on work, and used good materials.

Have used HomeAdvisor for 2 jobs in my house. Both companies were very professional. My experience with HomeAdvisor has been top notch. Have recommended this site to my friends & family.

HomeAdvisor is the best way to get quotes on your home repair/improvement projects. I have used them twice and both projects were done to my expectations.

I was skeptical about using HomeAdvisor, as are most people I know. After calling over a dozen companies, with no reply, I gave it a try. I received a call in less than 30 minutes! The company that did my work were very nice and did an excellent job! I am convinced. I will keep HomeAdvisor in mind when it's time for my next project! It was almost too easy!

Each time I used the service the response was almost immediate. Much help to locate needed home repairs and service. I will use it regularly for my needs.

Three vendor options were presented by HomeAdvisor. Two of them returned the call right away. Both were helpful, but one was way better on price -- the one who does just garage doors. Prior experience with HomeAdvisor is similar. The people who sign up with them are serious about growing their businesses.

I feel the company has researched the companies they recommend and thus far have not failed to find a winner for me. Nice to know I can trust someone without having to pay a fee to access their information. Thank you!

HomeAdvisor referred a handyman service named DNA Maintenance. HomeAdvisor claims their ratings ares based on reviews from the business's customers. However, what they don't tell you is they manipulate the ratings by omitting some negative reviews from the rating score. HomeAdvisor bills the contractor every time they send a referral so it is in their interest to keep the ratings artificially high. The rating score for this business was high. I hired them based on their rating but the service and quality was the worst of any contractor I've ever used.

It was quick and easy to navigate the HA website to find the repair I needed.

I saw HomeAdvisor advertised on TV. It's not easy finding quality help, but with HomeAdvisor, it simplified my search. After I submitted the repair I needed, I received a call within that day, and my repair was done within the week by a quality professional.

After looking for contractors myself on the internet, I also remembered HomeAdvisor and got recommendations there. We contacted several companies for estimates and we're most pleased (in terms of professionalism and price) with the lead from HomeAdvisor, ultimately ending up using that company for our project.

Had entire house painted, as well as needing carpeting removal and installation in the Master Bedroom. HomeAdvisor connected us with the professionals to complete the job and made it a successful and great experience.

Had two out of 4 plumbers contact me regarding my requests for help. The first that called wasn't very helpful and charged a fee to just come out. I went with the second one that called and could come out that day.

I was pleased the ability to find local contractors to do the work I needed.

I had no luck finding a local plumber who would call me back, so I turned to Home Advisor out of desperation, for lack of a better word. Their process was simple, quick, FREE, and I found my guy all in the same day. We had a proposal and went ahead and scheduled the job. The entire process from start to completion took less than a week, and I wouldn't hesitate to use the service again.

I'm new to the area and don't have many resources for finding out which contractors to call for different projects. I belong to Angie's List, but found HomeAdvisor.com the most helpful for finding the perfect electrician who focuses on standby generator installation. Other electricians and plumbers we spoke to would only do part of the job and not help with getting the needed permits, so the referral from HomeAdvisor was the most helpful. I am very happy with the results.

I've had to hire everything from a general contractor, a person to set up home entertainment systems, a locksmith and painters. I've never been disappointed and I've re-hired the same referrals over and over again. I would be lost without HomeAdvisor.

HomeAdvisor is the BEST Service out there for any homeowner. I will always use this service.

So you homeowners insist on passing the buck onto the contractors?? Home Advisor is nothing more than a parasite. Contractors have to pay them exorbitant amounts just for the privilege to bid your job. That undercuts the contractor in the long run and you will be affected by poor quality. Genuine contractors advertise and get contracts through word of mouth. If you use or continue to use this service you are lazy, impatient and naive.

The locksmith I hired through HomeAdvisor was fine. The duct cleaning people I hired left something to be desired, and one duct cleaning guy I called through HomeAdvisor said I wasn't even close enough for him to want to do the job. So my experience was inconsistent.

This is my second experience with HomeAdvisor and am truly amazed at the accuracy of their ability to match me with the perfect contractors. I strongly recommended anyone needing any type of home repairs to stop at HomeAdvisor first!!! It will save you massive headaches later on!!! AWESOME, AWESOME service!!!

I needed to find a reputable tree removal person who could work in tight quarters. I found the reviews for person I worked with to be consistent with the work I had performed. We were extremely satisfied with the job Arid Plant Designs did in totally landscaping our yard. From the choice of plants to the creative design everything exceeded our expectations. Customer service was first rate.

This company did a fantastic job cleaning up acorns and leaves on a good size piece of property. Workers were very hard workers. Worked well alongside of one another. Would recommend them definitely to other people who cannot care for their lawns either because of age or just because they don't have the time. Great investment.

My first experience with another job did not pan out with contractors contacting me or following up when they said they would. This time was much better as I was contacted by all three service providers within 24 hours. One came through with an estimate the same day, another took a few days. However I had already decided to go with the most responsive and he did good work.

Only 1 of the 3 referrals from HomeAdvisor was honest. IB Construction gave me a very fair estimate for me repairs and did a very good job on the repair. The other 2 did not even bother climbing on the roof to give me an estimate. One said he did not want to do the repair because he thought the roof was improperly installed and would give me an estimate for a complete new roof. The other was very high in his pricing and said it could go higher once they get on the roof to do the job. 2 out of 3 incompetent references is not a very good average in my book. But, thank you for the 1 good one.

I was able to research my need, submit for a quote and arranged an appointment in less than half an hour. I was very impressed by the quality of the vendor and services provided.

Once I made a decision to call two companies, I called but no response was given on answering machines. I waited one week and recalled both companies. One co. was not willing to do what I asked but offered to build a new fence instead of repair the current one. The price was very high and much more than I anticipated. He promised an email the next am but the monetary estimate was not avail for three days. Consequently, I called the other and was quite pleased with the promptness and feedback. It pays to get more than one estimate!

HomeAdvisor was an excellent source for finding local services/professionals. We are new to the area so we relied on Home Advisor to find a Pest Control and tree service. Both were excellent.

Very satisfied with finding a service provider and the provider was great, but not happy that HomeAdvisor calling me at work asking to do a survey on provider. Email survey's fine, but I don't appreciate phone calls. Especially on work telephone while I am working.

He called me through HomeAdvisor, had an appointment to meet him at my new apartment, had all papers and price. Was right to paint my apartment, met second time, showed paint chart, signed contract he was bonded maybe was doing job. Next day never showed up, cashed check made out to business. He went to check cashing place, took $, closed his phone and business telephone. I was scammed. Name of company (which had a great website) was Painting Time and Remodeling, LLC West Palm Beach, FL. Please submit this scam with this company on your website.

Hot water heater - Homeadvisor answered my request within a few minutes. I would not recommend x-spurts to anyone. I still haven't heard from them. Even after I called them she said someone would call me back, still has not called.

Glad we consulted HomeAdvisor for our roofing needs. We received info on three companies... two of whom submitted bids. We contacted a third company not listed by HomeAdvisor. We selected Roof Smart LLC, which was one recommended by HomeAdvisor, to do our job and couldn't be more pleased. Will go to HomeAdvisor again.

I saw the advertisement on HGTV and recently brought a home, so I have been using them for handyman services. I feel I can't accomplish on my own. The service has been great and most of the contractors are very professional. This is a handy tool for everyone who needs work done around your home.

I used HomeAdvisor to find a local outfit, for fall clean up of my yard. I hired one of their recommended companies and was very pleased with the results. After contacting the recommended company, they responded quickly, came out the next day, surveyed the project and quoted an extremely reasonable price. The company showed up on time, of the scheduled date and did a fantastic job. This was my first experience using HomeAdvisor and I will not hesitate to use them again to find a company for other projects I might have in the future.

He came & measured, went over price. Then ordered the doors as they were an odd size so they had to be make. He called to let us know they weren't in yet after a week as promised. But they did come in a few days later & were installed & they are great.

HomeAdvisor responded immediately to my online request. They followed up on the vendors responses/non-responses. In the instance of my 3rd attempt to reach a vendor, he called me immediately. I was skeptical about the ads I saw on TV, but now I'm a believer. Better and easier to use than the other service I joined.

I found the listings of local businesses very helpful, and the website easy to use to contact contractors for bid proposals. The only shortcoming was an unsolicited call from another listed company wanting to bid.

I also like the general articles provided regarding general home improvement subjects such as cost, what to expect from certain workmen such as handyman and what type of workman is needed for a particular project.

I saw the ad for Home Advisor and gave it a try. They gave me a few options for my area. I settled on one and they promptly called to set up a connection to the plumber. I went to HomeAdvisor and was "trolled" by this company. My heating unit was blowing out cold air. Steve looked at the unit, disabled it without my permission or knowledge. $8000 replacement recommendation given.

Everyone needs to understand that while HA is free to the homeowner, it is not free to the service professional. HA charges anywhere from $14 to $50 for every lead sent to the contractor. Not only that, they charge a yearly fee of around $300 just to be on their site. Every time a consumer requests a professional, HA will send that request to 2-5 contractors and charge every one of them a fee. It does not matter if the professional gets the job or not. They are charged. My experience has been 1 in 10 leads actually turn into jobs. I get more no call backs than returns. I can truthfully say that my business has increase because of HomeAdvisor, but my profit margins is nominal. So, please, call the service person back when using HA. It is free for you, not for me.

47-year old cast iron pipe was almost completely clogged up. Replaced about 20 feet with 21st. century materials. Drain went from the kitchen to the main drain leading to the septic tank. I was so impressed with their work that I decided to have the rest of the antique plumbing replaced.

The website is easy to use and I received call backs right away. I did become annoyed with the amount of emails asking me how things were going when we were still in the planning stage, which does take some time. I called and requested less emails and appreciated that.

Contacted HomeAdvisor for a situation with my well water. I was contacted rapidly and put in touch with a vendor, in this case Aqua Max. They got in touch with me and had someone assessing my problem. I was worried about what was going on and they put me at ease and had a service rep on site the next day. Very good experience.

In my quest for a local contractor to fix my well pump, I came across HomeAdvisor. The site steered me to a local contractor who performed the work very well and fairly. I will keep this site in mind.

Using HomeAdvisor gives me a level of comfort that I wouldn't otherwise have when hiring a contractor. I know that the business is legitimate and the contractor has been vetted. I have been very satisfied with the results of both of the projects done using contractors recommended by HomeAdvisor.

My wife and I recently moved into a new home that required some minor work (painting, carpeting, etc.). I used HomeAdvisor to find the right people to do the job. What I like about the site is that you see real, up-to-date reviews from real customers that have recently used the people/company that HA recommends. Best part is that it's free!

Roofing repair - Problem was taken care of quickly (same day). Biggest problem in this area is getting someone to show up and do the job within a reasonable period of time.

HomeAdvisor Corp. is a company that cheats on smaller companies that want to grow, promising jobs that do not exist. HomeAdvisor Corp. makes you pay a subscription, with the promise of getting hired which is not true. Then they sent me via email customers which are false. I have 25 customers assumptions, which not answer. I already lost $1,500 with them and they still want to deposit $299.00 for the past three customers who sent me which do not give me an appointment to visit it. HomeAdvisor Corp threatening to send me to a collection agency.

We needed to hire a housekeeper, and being new to the area, I couldn't rely on a recommendation. I was very pleased with the woman I spoke to on the phone and she explained the process that HomeAdvisor goes through to give us the best companies for the job. We were very pleased with the outcome of the service and will continue to use Aspen House Cleaners for our bi-weekly cleanings. We will also come back to HomeAdvisor for other projects we need done in the spring.

Needed a heating expert immediately. I searched HomeAdvisor and put in my request to find someone. I read the comments. Was contacted and resolved by the next day by knowledgeable people in my area. Was happy with the end result and will use the site again.

Each time I've hired someone from HomeAdvisor (3 times), they have always been easy to schedule the job with, always on time and the costs are fine. I appreciate being able to wait til the last minute for a job and having it get done!

After a bad experience with a chimney sweep, he never showed or called for an appointment. I called and hired a wallpaperer and painter. This put HomeAdvisor over the top, I received an excellent price and contractor. HomeAdvisor is bookmarked and will be used in the future.

Our water heater failed on a Saturday morning. I reviewed resources on HomeAdvisor, talked with 2 prospects, and hired one of them. He provided 3 options - levels of repair and replacement. Given the age of our water heater, I chose replacement. The technician arrived 2 hours later and within 2 hours he was finished. This is our second, recent, experience with HomeAdvisor. Our prior experience was for a technician to help us untangle our music/video system(s). Also a pleasant, satisfying experience.

Had receptacle/switch problem. The circuit breaker kept popping off. The electrician came at the time he said he would be there. Found the problem, corrected it and explained everything thoroughly to me. Cleaned & swept up the area he was working on. Very friendly person. I would definitely recommend and call them again.

Had roof cleaned, some foam applied to sides where awnings attach to mobile home, and then had sealant applied. Very pleased with the work done.

I logged on to HomeAdvisor and entered what I needed. An appliance repair place called me in less than 2 hours, and set up an appointment for that day. I found HomeAdvisor easy to use, and the repair service they sent me to, Cross Road Appliance, was excellent. I will definitely use HomeAdvisor again.

I loved the quick results I got and ended up with a good company whose did nice work on my job, but I think it's crappy that HomeAdvisor doesn't tell you that the companies get charged for every request or inquiry you put in, regardless of if they felt the job. I didn't know that until the contractor told me. Good for him that I hired him, and good for everyone else I didn't just put in a bunch of requests everywhere. That's sneaky and I think underhanded not to let you know that.

I was given 3 contractors and was so impressed by the first. I did not need to search others. It was all very quick and easy to use and Ayers called me the next morning. The repairs are done and we are very satisfied. Will be using them again if the need arises and am glad HomeAdvisor had them listed.

I've used HomeAdvisor on several occasions and found that the vast majority of their recommendations were very appropriate. The one bad experience I had, was not HomeAdvisor's fault. A contractor they had recommended actually passed along the work to another less skilled contractor.

I am a contractor in California. I contacted a sales rep about signing on with the company and gave him all my personal and business information. He asked for a credit card no. just to do a credit check. I told him specifically not to sign me up with the co. until I spoke with my wife, this was on Friday July 3, 2015. He assured me he would not bind me until I gave him the green light on the following Monday. Come Monday I see several e-mails from the company welcoming me with several work leads. I e-mailed the individual that was in charge of billing me and explained the situation that I had NOT formally agreed with the sales rep and to remove all my credit card charges. He removed only the lead charges but left the approx. $300 contract fee.

I have used HomeAdvisor twice and have been very pleased with the contractors they have sent.

I was skeptical of an online review site as I had never used one before. Something told me to give this one a chance and I'm glad I did. The company that this site recommended to me was professional and honest, and kept me from spending $1,000+ on a new refrigerator. Instead I spent $140 repairing an older unit. Great site, will use it again if needed.

On 11/2/2015 I submitted a dissatisfied review on a roofing contractor they recommended for me and to date it has not been posted. The response was it needed to be verified - I have no idea what that means. Not only did HomeAdvisor contractor not help us but HomeAdvisor themselves will not print unsatisfied reviews. They are selectively posting satisfied reviews and not posting bad reviews therefore misleading people searching for services.

The service providers listed by HomeAdvisor have been responsive and reliable. It makes getting help much easier and less stressful.

I was debating between fixing my washer or buying a new one. Someone recommended HomeAdvisor on Facebook so, I just looked in to it just for kicks since is FREE. HomeAdvisor pass my information to a top rated company to get a quote (That I request), I got a phone call almost immediately and indeed it turn out a great experience with an amazing outcome! It turned out that I ended up fixing both of my washers that weren't working for a very fair price and on the same day. I broke the freezer control stem. It was fixed, however, I told the technician that the food in my freezer may have been thawing and refreezing, and swings in temperature. He said to wait and let freezer stabilize. If still wide temp swing, call back. I wouldn't be charged the travel charge. He came back, and tested the freezer, but couldn't fix it then. He had to order parts. Then he came out a third time (no travel charge) and put in a new temperature controller. It's seems it is fixed.

I used HomeAdvisor for the first time twice this week. I needed to have a couple inspections done on a house I'm buying and didn't know who to contact that would be reliable and reasonably priced. I had seen tv commercials for HomeAdvisor and thought I would check them out. I am so glad I did. I found 2 businesses that I am totally impressed with through them. I will be contacting other contractors I need from HomeAdvisor.

This company is a big scam. They the sale rep going to tell you that your phone will not going to stop ringing and then he make up numbers of client that call every month for the same service. After you pay them they tell you that you did not understand what he say. I am with them for a month and did not receive even one phone call from a client and they sale rep don't reply to me calls or emails.

Just filled out the short form and I was connected with a contractor in less than 10 minutes. The contractor arrived on time, identified and repaired the issue quickly. I'll be using HomeAdvisor again.

I answered HomeAdvisor's email offer for referrals when I needed my hot tub repaired. I had 2 choices... give me a list of companies or have them contact me. I wanted to research them myself, so I picked the first option. I had barely pushed "send" and my phone began ringing with people looking to do my job. Needless to say, I was annoyed. To make matters worse, the first guy to call was someone I'd hired, on my own, recently, who I would NEVER use again. He was the reason I turned to HomeAdvisor. To have him be the first guy to call me made me wonder how good the other guys would be. I did end up hiring the second guy who called and had a very good experience.

Over the past few years I've used HomeAdvisor for work from installing ceramic tile to repairing an evaporative cooler. I always get a number of professionals and have never been disappointed with their work.

I was looking for help with drywall repair and cleaning/staining a deck. I received a call almost immediately and scheduled a visit within a week. I got a bid promptly and was able to schedule the job within a couple of weeks. The crew did a great job from start to finish. I'm glad I took a chance and used HomeAdvisor. Small business owners Beware of Home Advisor. This service is a money pit. It will cost you more than it will make you. When they offer the service it sounds great, they send you leads and they tell you that you will only pay for viable leads. They also said that you will get customers calling you directly. This is not the case. In our situation, we have not had one customer call directly. We had received 5 leads the first week; however, only 2 of them were viable. In the weeks to come this became more and more lopsided with leads that did not produce a thing. Regardless of whether leads are viable, you are still charged for all of them. We have a small appliance business where we service and sell used appliances consisting of stoves, washers, dryers, and fridges (we do not repair compressors or coolants).

Locate electric problems and repaired and replaced breakers. We use HomeAdvisor for all our repair and maintenance jobs and have good experience each time.
