Have used HomeAdvisor from time to time and have always found very good specialists for both our homes. They are extremely efficient and one gets to choose from a set of three specialists. They do follow up but do not hassle you with unwanted follow up calls for marketing etc. It would be useful to get an estimate for the job to be done because it becomes difficult to choose a specialist without getting a comparable price offer for which most times one has to pay estimate fees. This forces one to pick one just based on price without knowing if that is what the others were quoting for as well.

It's December 23 and there's a leak in the basement. It's just a pinhole leak in a copper pipe, but I don't have all the necessary tools and not feeling like dropping $200 at HD for everything I need to cut & weld some pipe. Went on HomeAdvisor, and Rafael called in 5 minutes and came out an hour later. One quick trip to the store to get a part and he had everything fixed within 2 hours for $170. He was an extremely nice guy, honest, easy to talk to and interesting. A total no brainer to call him. The best $170 I ever spent. Thanks Rafael, Merry Christmas!

I have used this service time and time again because not only is it free to use, it provides me access to hundreds of well qualified contractors. I can also read reviews of the contractors from previous customers, which helps me to understand the quality of these professionals when making a hiring decision. I also get personal follow up phone calls from HomeAdvisor support staff and they are always super friendly and helpful about providing me support for what I need. I would use HomeAdvisor any day over Angie's List.

I contacted HomeAdvisor on Dec 17, 2015 about a leaky shower/tub faucet that I was having trouble getting a plumber to repair. I tried to get one from Lowe's and Home Depot, but was unsuccessful. No one responded to my inquires that I contacted. I finally contacted HomeAdvisor (heard about them from local PBS station). I was immediately connected with My Legacy Plumbing in Vacaville who said they were interested in the job and were amazing available to do the job that day. We communicated by phone and e-mail. Randy from My Legacy Plumbing (Vacaville, CA) was able to make it to my house by 4 pm. He assessed the situation and told me that I needed to replace the faucet since it was corroded with mineral deposits.

My experience was great. I submitted the request online and was presented with 3 options. I received returns calls from 2 of the 3. The first person had a $65 diagnostic fee, not including service. Modern Air did not charge a diagnostic fee and I decided to go that route. I am so glad that I did. Charles showed up on time. He quickly diagnosed the problem and was done within an hour. I plan to make Modern Air my go to company for any future maintenance and repairs.

I've not used the internet successfully before to find in-home services. I was glad not to be bombarded with simultaneous ads or celebrity posts, etc. The listing of truly local service providers made it a useful site. Others I've gone to included unrelated services and services that were out of territory so, first, I had to cull out the chaff before finding a service provider or just gave up and went to the phone book. I will use your site again.

I was in desperate need of someone to repair my garage door opener immediately. I typed in what I was looking for and three companies were recommended. I called two and chose the least expensive one and the one that had a same day opening.

Used to use Angie's List but was tired of paying fee and decided to try HomeAdvisor.com. They wouldn't do anything until I put in name, address and contact information. I clicked on the button requesting that vendors would NOT contact me directly and I went on to their site and found a vendor on my own. Unfortunately I am getting NON-STOP calls from vendors asking me if they can do my work (even though I explicitly noted I didn't want vendors to call). It's been 15 minutes since I got online and have received 6 calls so far!!! Very shady operation.

I had some hardwood floors to be refinished and I did not know any in my area so I contacted HomeAdvisor and received a couple of returned calls and proposals very quickly. The contractor that I used had a good price and he showed up on time as scheduled and completed the work as scheduled and did a professional job. I will use HomeAdvisor for any future work.

I "Googled" for local electricians. HomeAdvisor was one of the sites that was recommended by verified users. This site is free and lists almost every contracting/building profession known. It took the information I provided and gave me three names with their address, phone number and customer rating. I will use again and recommend it.

First time using the site. Logged on and listed the projects I needed to do. Was supplied a list of qualified contractors and chose HIME. Called HIME and left a message. They returned my call within 5 mins. Were out the same day with an estimate and we scheduled the work 2 days later. They completed the work in 3 hours, cleaned up and were very professional.

I went to unsubscribe from this site and you can't do it. They give you a virus when you hit their unsubscribe. They take weeks to get back to you. First I recommend you don't use their site. Second if you do they share your personal info for money from other sites. Third if you want to stop their emails... they never stop sending them, plus their unsubscribe has a virus. Don't use this site. I would like them to stop emailing and calling me.

We have gone the route of getting recommendations from friends and family, and we haven't always been satisfied. Sometimes the work was not what we expected. I hired someone recommended on Home Advisor through their site and was extremely satisfied.

The response was immediate, and the professional had the work thoroughly done within a week-and-a-half at a very reasonable price!! I would not hesitate to call him again in the future. A&A Electrical did quality work but the price seemed high to replace 5 outlets.

I used a contractor to build my deck with very good reviews published by HomeAdvisor (decks, patios and more). The contractor was horrible (cost me several thousands of dollars, did poor work and never finished the project). I would suggest that HomeAdvisor spend more time when they publish a recommended contractor. It turns out that the contractor they had good reviews on was on a list in my city for fraud and numerous complaints at the Better Business Bureau. The owner had spent time in jail!!

Some of the doors did not close smoothly after the new carpet was put down. The carpet was much thicker than the old carpet - thus the doors had to be shaved off at the bottom so they would close smoothly. In addition, Joe had to reinstall a lower guide unit for the sliding doors for the closet - the guide was not reinstalled by the carpet layers due to thickness of carpet.

To the extent that HomeAdvisor has some companies listed that are good companies, then they are going to be helpful. Also, as long as honest reviews are put up.

Project was to replace driveway, add two new patios, two walkways, drainage and rain gutters. Also removed large tree stumps and roots, and hauled debris and excess soil. Thoroughly cleaned up the job site at the end. HomeAdvisor made it easy to find a quality contractor to serve our needs.

I had a leak in my roof. I contacted HomeAdvisor and promptly received a both a call and an email with the names, numbers, and reviews of five vendors. Two called back and came to look at my problem. I believe both could have taken care of my problem. I chose the one who could do it the soonest. I am quite satisfied with the whole process and will use HomeAdvisor again when I need it!

Carpet stretching and cleaning - The best referral and final product I could have ever expected.

Third time I have found a contractor or repairman through HomeAdvisor, and I have been pleased all three times. The first was for aluminum gutter installation, the second was for repair of an above ground hot tub, and the third was for the installation of a new public sidewalk (Seattle City right of way).

I was able to use HomeAdvisor to search for a local licensed electrician very easily. The 11 5-star reviews convinced me to hire him. The online appointment process was simple and convenient.

We used this service for many years, when my husband (the contractor) had a small stroke and was unable to work. I paused the leads (they only allow a two week pause) to give him time to see if he would be able to return to work. While we were paused, my mother died. Between the death and the funeral, the leads turned back on (I had obviously forgotten). I immediately contacted them, gave them the circumstances, and they said they would re-pause the leads for a month and credit us for the 4 leads that had come (in one day).

The chosen contractor did a great job, and I would recommend them, and using Home Advisor, to anyone to simplify the process of finding a good contractor. In fact, I will use them again on another project.

Of the two contracting experiences I have had I ended up with both ends of the rating scale. My roofing contractor was a 5 star rating and did an outstanding job. My other experience with an interior contractor to remove the popcorn ceiling in my house and repaint was the extreme worst and it is apparent this is not their strong suite.

We bought this 2-storey house earlier this year and somehow didn't pay too much attention to the fact that there were some cracks on the outside wall, thinking that they were minimal and would require only some caulking and that would be it. Our 6 year old ice maker quit and wife cannot live w/o ice. I logged onto the website just looking for info and had a call-back within an hour, probably much less. The tech came out the next day, diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and installed it the next day. For $200, a very fair price and certainly not worth the aggravation doing the repair myself would have caused me - if I could even get the part! I will use them again should the need arise.

The business called back within an hour of the time I submitted our request. Not all business respond so quickly. They were also able to start the job the next day.

I prefer to be able to view and contact the contractors in the area on my own. So I was disappointed that I was provided with only three contractors. I was more disappointed when I discovered after the fact that they made more contractor listings available after I had used one of the original three. I was forced to use one contractor as he was the only one that showed availability in a reasonable time frame. And it seemed I had to make an appointment online rather than being able to talk to them first. I did NOT like that. As it worked out the contractor I selected was excellent and I was quite happy with him. I would be well pleased with the service if I could see the entire list of contractors up front, in HomeAdvisor's ranking order would be fine and then be able to contact them in advance before having to make the appointment.

So far it has been a good experience. It took a day or two to get someone to respond to my request but overall we are pleased with the service.

This is the second time that I've used HomeAdvisor. Both times I have had top-notch professionals and been extremely satisfied with the work they've performed for me. I do have one issue with HomeAdvisor, however. Both times I've inquired about a particular type of work, I've asked only for the names and contact information for the contractors in my area and requested to not be called. And both times, my phone started ringing within 5-10 minutes. I would rather get the information, have an opportunity to look over it, do a little research on my own, and contact the contractor of my choice. Instead of seeing which one of them can beat the others to the phone to try to win my business. I even had one of them call me at 7:00am the next morning! He's lucky I didn't get his day off to a really BAD start, but I knew it wasn't his fault.

Mr. ** was able to come out that same day and provide me with great customer service. He was able to coordinate with PG&E and California Solar in a timely manner and get us back up and running by the end of the week.

HomeAdvisor helped me to find a good company to replace a water heater/install a new one. I am very happy with the installation. I don't like being inundated with email after the fact, but understand it is marketing and typical. I have requested to have that curtailed. Otherwise, I was happy to find a good company and reviews.

I initially got on the website to see who the contractors were in Ft. Collins. I had no plans on being contacted immediately since I wanted to wait until spring to do the job. I was contacted by 3 of the contractors immediately which was a bit unnerving. They all wanted to jump on the project immediately. There should be a place where people can look at contractors without being hassled immediately so they can make an informed decision.

I am very pleased with the speedy recovery of my computer and printer. I will call the shop before it gets that bad again and have them come online with me (from the shop) and make the adjustment (I'm sure it will be something I clicked by error) so that I will not get THAT stressed out again.

They did a terrific job but the weather was not cooperative. Our tank is down hill and it had rained hard so all ground surface was not accessible. They had to get more hose to reach our tank. They came back as soon as they got what they needed and finished the job. Very pleased with Mr. **. This is our second time with his service.

My use of HomeAdvisor was generally worthwhile. Although one of the recommended contractors misled me, the other was straightforward and eventually performed the work. Using HomeAdvisor was definitely better than rifling through the telephone book, but I would also recommend that all users of Home Advisor make sure that they get at least 2 recommended sources for their work. If I had relied on only the first company, I would have spent over $400 more for a repair that only cost $130.

I think three of four is good. The one I didn't hire was a no call, no show which disturbed me. The others have been great. I had to have a lot of work done quick and I got estimates on Monday and the work will be finished by the end of the day today.
