I purchased a new GE front load dryer from Lowe's in June 2017. Every time we used we smelled gas outside by the vent intermittently. Had the service tech out for it and of course the smell wouldn't show up. He gave some recommendations to reduce some elbows (8) in the exhaust as it was possibly exhaust smell but pipes clean and airflow strong. I know the difference between gas and the exhaust smell... As of today 10-13-17, we now are getting the exhaust smell. I've reduced the elbows in the rigid exhaust and find no lint buildup whatsoever. I'm baffled on how the smell could be happening if the ducts are clean and airflow strong unless it's built up in the dryer. Calling service tech again today. A new dryer shouldn't have these problems. Stay away from GE people.

Bought Model GTW460ASJWW July 2016, impossible to keep it in balance. Sounds like a locomotive approaching in the spin cycle. If you select a delicate cycle for gentle laundry, hardly moves during wash cycle, but spins so hard you have to peel clothes off wall of machine. Purchased at Lowe's, called them first time shortly after purchase when it danced across floor and cut off. Explained the loud noise, and appliance rep stated "that's your government's fault". I am a nervous wreck every time I wash. Stand there during spin cycle holding each front corner and afraid it's going to come apart one day.
It seems you get no help from Lowe's once product is purchased. No more GE, no more appliances from Lowe's. Additionally, Lowe's printout of register receipt is so pale it will eventually fade and be unreadable. I made enlarged, darker copies for proof of my 3 year warranty purchased. It would be to Lowe's advantage to listen more carefully to customer complaints and attempt to help customer's resolve problems, and possibly not carry GE appliances.

Bought the new washer (GTW460ASJ6WW) on 7-9-2017. Here it is 9/19/2017 and it won't work. I have to wait three weeks for a service call. I bought this at Lowe's and they will not help either since it is beyond thirty days. Why doesn't GE care about their reputation? Why would you not take care of a customer with a less than three month old machine that isn't working??? My advice do not buy GE if you want a company that stands behind their products.

Within 7 mos the motor goes out on Hotpoint dryer that was purchased in Feb, 2017. (Aug 20) Serviceman puts in new motor. 3 weeks later, motor goes out again. Replaced with 2nd motor and it does not work. Another week later, still nothing. I was under the impression he was ordering another motor, but that did not happen. Serviceman expected 9/23/17. He won't have a motor so that means another week. Over a month and GE cannot repair dryer. I have requested a new dryer be delivered. No one will respond! Have talked to several people, but I am only referred to the Consumer Support phone # and I get nowhere with any of the GE personnel. Don't expect the big Corporation of GE to be of any assistance if you receive a product that is poor workmanship!

I decided to buy a new washer and dryer because mine was 21 years old. I had to have a machine that has an agitator so, GE had a deal on and I bought the set... model number GTW460ASJ0WW... The first day it was delivered it leaked and would not work. Then it would not turn on at all. Called GE. They sent a repairman, who replaced the motherboard. Up to today I've had the machine almost a year and have had to call the repair guy in 8 times...
Damn machine has me so upset, washer fills with water and won't wash, won't drain. I have to bail out water with a milk jug. When it works hey it washes better than most but you don't even hardly have a chance to use the wash cycle! I hate this machine... Repair guy is coming again next week sometime, I am demanding a new machine this time. So sick of this and I'm easy on my machine, light loads, I'm single so I do 1-3 loads on weekends. I strongly advise that you not buy this machine. Spend the $2,000.00 or even $4,000.00 and get a proper set! I'll never buy GE again!

One fell in and due to could going around damaged coil. A machine like this should not have issues after 18 months. GE has a serious quality control issue. Overall good washer that works well.

GE and their products are definitely not what they used to be. We purchased top load washer GE GTWN4250DWH 2 years ago to replace the Kenmore which also used to be a good product in old days but not anymore. The reason we purchased it that it had good features and the water level that you can control yourself which is hard to find in these days (not sure why manufactures think if you just wet your laundry it will come out clean). The machine was working fine for the first year and after that the electronic board started to act up: sometimes it works on some cycles and sometimes it does not!
We called GE to see what can be done since machine is only 2 years old and in the past they used to last 10-15 years or even longer and of course we had been told since we do not have an extended warranty we are pretty much on our own. It's like they know that their products are junk after the first year or two and forcing you to buy extended warranty. First, we did schedule an appointment with GE to come and fix it but the more we thought how they do not stand behind their product and who knows what can break next we decided to cancel the service call and purchased Speed Queen top load washer that has great reviews and comes with 3 years manufacture warranty, I guess they do stand behind their product. Do not think we will be purchasing anything else made by GE.

I begin experiencing problems that I notice with my GE Top Load washing machine last year. When I notice little holes in my tops (blouses, tees, etc). I didn't realize how bad it was until an inspection of my clothing turned up this problem in the same spot, lower middle of the article. I googled this problem and I saw where I was not the only one experiencing it. I have had my machine for at least 5 years and I'm sure GE will not make any adjustments but I want other buyers to know what will happen if they purchase this machine, model # GTWN4250D0WS.

GE 4.8 Cu Ft Top Load Washer GTW485BMKWS - We have had our GE Washer for 8 months and within the first four months it started to experience many problems. The warranty service folks have fixed it three times already and are coming back next week for the fourth time. The transmission and computer board has been replaced. They are replacing the drain hose next week and a belt has been replaced. It seems to have problems even washing four towels at a time without draining or starting. I think the computer board or sensing unit has a problem because it is unable to adjust to some loads.
We have lost hope and GE seems very eager to constantly send the repair folks until the warranty expires in 4 months. The repair person told us that he repairs this same model several times a week and we do not even live in a large city - population of 72,000 so the model must be quite problematic. I wrote to GE public relations and they just replied stating the GE Appliances was sold to Haier last year - I would strongly recommend avoiding this brand.

I purchased a GE frontload Right Height washer 7/24/15. Model GFWR2700H1WW. When they delivered the washer they could not install because it was defective. I waited 3 weeks for 2nd washer to be installed. This washer began having problems a few weeks ago. It is so load in the spin cycle, it vibrates my walls. It sounds like a jet. I am afraid something dangerous could happen if I keep using it. A GE repair tech diagnosed it as needing a new tub and bearings. The labor alone is $505. The parts are over $600. GE said they would waive the parts cost but the labor charge is equal to a new machine. These parts are defective. They are no fault of mine. I have taken good care of this washer. These parts should last more than 2 years.
GE will only offer a new machine for $829 or repair for $505. This is unacceptable. This machine was made in China. Now they supposedly make them in the US. If this machine has been improved in the last couple of years they should repair these defective parts free of charge or replace the machine. If this company wants satisfied customers they should offer products that last more than 2 years. I will never buy GE again. You lost me as a customer. I will recommend you to no one!

I purchased this washing machine GE Model GLWN2800D1WS for my mother because it was a simple top loader and she is up in age. Lowe's is where I purchased it and they passed me off to GE who couldn't care less whether I was happy or not with the machine. After reimbursement for the clothes the machine ruined by chewing them up. They still never fixed the machine. After a second tech came out the solution he had given me was "not to put any good clothes in the machine." Now after not being willing to replace the machine it is making a horrible noise when it runs the spin cycle and now leaking on the floor from somewhere other than the hoses. Bottom Line... I will never, ever purchase another GE product. I will also not purchase any expensive appliance from Lowe's. They can't be bothered with customer service.

GE GFW450SSKWW Front Load Washer - This is the biggest piece of junk and I suggest you don't buy one, a brand new front loading washer and dryer that has issues the very first day! The washing machine's pump hums so loud I can hear it upstairs, and the dryer door is misaligned and does not close without lifting it up to meet the latch. The clothes are wet when the spin cycle is finished beyond what is expected of a normally functioning washing machine, so I called the first day to set up a service appointment only to have six unsolicited e-mails and calls from customer service individuals who think they can diagnose a problem over the phone.
FYI, I am an Engineer and when I suggest we have a problem then we have a problem. The icing on the cake was a phone call from service at five p.m. on Friday from "Amanda" saying that she was canceling my appointment and had to reschedule? Rude, condescending and lacking professional decorum defines the conversation! Run and do not even consider this company or product, take my word for it!

I have had this washer (GE front loader GFW680SPKDG) for about a month, and I'm extremely disappointed. So much so that I'm going to contact the local appliance store that I bought it from and see if I can trade it on the Speed Queen that I was contemplating buying when I bought this one. After a lot of research on front loaders and GE (I have 4 other GE appliances that I have been very happy with, and researched this model washer prior to buying)... I opted for this machine. So far, I have had some loads taking 2 HOURS longer to wash as it will keep resetting the time during the cycle. Some loads come out very wet. The fabric softener dispenser is full of water after most loads that I do (caused by "natural siphoning" when the load spins out), so I have to use paper towels to suck up the water to put more in the dispenser for the next load. Oh, and it's been leaking from the left rear of the machine during some loads.
So before contacting the store I bought it from to get a repair person out, I read my owners manual. All of these are "NORMAL". I am using HE detergent, recommended amount. It's normal for the cycle to take longer if it has to reset due to "unbalancing". I bought a front loader instead of a top loader to minimize the unbalancing problem. If I use too much detergent, it will leak from the left rear of the machine. I am putting the right amount in the dispenser and using HE detergent. Sometimes the loads don't spin all the water out (which again is "normal"), so in that case just hit drain and spin to spin out again. Hmmm. I already waited an extra hour for the cycle to finish. And now I have to wait longer to get it to spin out properly?
Unfortunately, when doing my research, I did not come across this website because I did not see any bad reviews for this particular model washer, which is what I put in the search engine when researching. Hopefully someone considering this washer will see this and think twice. And reading over and over again how bad their customer service is will really make me reconsider ever buying an appliance from GE again, despite being happy with the other GE appliances I have. Wake up corporate America. People are tired of spending our hard earned dollars on your products and getting crap and attitude when you don't stand behind your product.

I purchased a GE Stacked Laundry Unit from Lowe's. The first few times I used it, I knew something was wrong with it. So I called GE, they sent a tech from GE to look at it. I explained to him how terrible the machine sounded when I turned it on. It sounded like it was going to blow up any minute. The tech took the front panel off, looked at it for a second and said there's nothing wrong with it. It's supposed to sound like that. He was there for less than 5 minutes. So I had to trust he knew what he was doing, since he was a GE technician.
The machine sounded so bad that I couldn't do laundry when I was home. It was terribly loud. Well it happened. It leaked all over my floor, causing me to now replace the floors, in my brand new home. Repairman came and looked at the machine, said it will be $1,300 to fix because there are so many things wrong with it. He agrees that the machine was faulty from the start. GE doesn't care. It's out of warranty and it doesn't matter to them. They offered to sell me a new machine, the same one, at a discounted price. I am extremely unhappy with GE. They should stand behind their products. This machine was used for a year and a half. Doing laundry for the first year for one person, a girl. So clearly it's lightly used. I wish GE would do something, replace my washer or pay to have my floors fixed. So angry and upset.

Do not buy anything from GE. I bought a top load GE washer last year and the electronic control board failed within a year. I got an endless runaround from the company until the retailer finally intervened on my behalf and got it repaired on warranty. That all took weeks, during which my family had to use a commercial laundry. Less than three months later, the control board has failed again in exactly the same way. GE will do nothing about this except offer a small discount on the (obviously faulty) part and charge me for installing it.
What a great racket: sell people defective junk, then charge them over and over for "repairing" it with the same faulty electronics. Quite separately, during the few months it actually worked, it vibrated violently and walked all over the place, in spite of being perfectly level and very carefully loaded to equalize the weight. GE is defrauding the public. If we had anything resembling consumer protection in this country they would be forced out of business.

GE stackable washer/dryer model#GUD27ESMJWW - Less than a month after purchasing my washer/dryer from Lowe's in Newmarket, the motor stopped working. Appliance services came out to advise that I had a defective motor and the part would have to be ordered. 2 weeks later they notified me the part was in and Appliance services said they would "fit me in." The second time the repairman came out the motor was installed but the "light was flashing." I was told the IT would have to be called to obtain a "code." From day one this GE washer, model # GTW330ASK0WW, jumped up & down, moved to the right and left and forward during spinning. GE sent me 4 pads to install under the legs as it looks like they knew about its lemon washer. That helped a bit for very light loads. But for bulky and heavy loads the washer goes crazy with loud scary noise. It has broken 2 of my refrigerators handles so far and has created deep dents on its side and upper frames.
GE sent its own technician on 7/28/17 and he installed new legs and removed the old ones along with the 4 rubber pads sent to me in the first week of purchase. Since the tech installed new legs and removed the rubber pads, the washer goes more crazy and will than before and turn around to the point that put strain on the hot and cold lines connected to the valves, plug in electrical wire and drainage hose. Although it is still under warranty, GE is not willing to exchange it for a new one and is sending another technician to look at it next week. I have taken both pictures and videos while it is jumping up and down and move like a mad cow and would probably ends up in court before it explodes as Samsung's did. I have no doubt that GE is fully aware of this problem due the fact they have designed new legs for it and provide customers with rubber pads to be installed under the legs to lessen the movement. Do not buy this model for free!!!!
Updated on 09/08/2017: GE has sent his technicians 3 times and they have not been able to fix it. The last technician told me the machine needs new shocks. GE emailed me and gave me an offer that they would fix it if I pay for the labor while they would send the part. This situation has been going on for 11 months while the machine vibration and movement has caused damages to my neighboring refrigerator and upper and lower part of the washer. Once it moved so much, during rinse and spin sounding like a jet engine noise, that ripped off the hot water line and caused flooding on the garage floor.
The customer relation service is very dishonest and unreliable. The contractors are in cahoot with GE. They set me up with Saddleback appliance 2 times and Saddleback refused to do the job for them. I called the company while waiting for their service tech to come and I was told 2 times that they do not with GE anymore. Most probably because they did not want to be pushed around and to be dishonest and unfair to the customer. Finally I took the matter to small claim court for now and I am hoping that it goes to a class A action in the future.

I have never dried a bathing suit, towel or sock without washing it first. My husband & I are seniors so rest assured, we are bringing a lot of sand home. Less than 2 yrs ago, I purchased a GE Topload washer, GTW460ASJ3 (WW). This appliance has got to be the worse washer I have ever had. The problems with the washer are numerous: 1. Water levels that don't cover clothes unless you load less than a normal load. While there is a setting for "Super" and "Precise fill," neither seem sufficient. 2. The tub never fully fills, even on Super. In short a large load is not large at all. Again requiring the necessity of loading a smaller load than one would thing. 3. Nos 1 & 2 create both a time and financial issue. Washing smaller loads means more time to do laundry, plus the cost of using more water.
4. Clothes don't get clean. Even "white" article of clothing I own is now gray... every single sock is gray, pants, shirts, blouses. EVERYTHING. It's as if dirt is being redeposited on the clothes. Other soiled/stained articles of clothing, come out just as they did prior to washing. It does not matter the stain; outside dirt, oil food, whatever. There is some luck if you work on the spot/stain prior to washing, but removal just by washing is a bust. 5. Locking lid. At some point in the wash/spin cycle, the lid locks. No effort will release the lid, if for no other reason than to check the "health" of the load. 6. It appears that at the end of the wash cycle, the washer drains and rinses at the same time... Not sure that's possible, but it happens.
I call customer service to get some advice, as well to see if they could offer a remedy. I was asked/ told to, change detergent, add a water conditioner, add a water softener tank (as if), make smaller loads, sort clothes by color, add bleach to whites (of course doing this regularly breaks down cloth) all of the things anyone would consider doing.
"Customer Care" offered to send a technician, offering to cover any parts, but assigned the service call to me. This offer is not helpful. Why should I have to pay for a faulty appliance? Furthermore, I am certain that the reason GE offers to pay for parts and not the service fee is because, at the end of the day, this is a bad, faulty appliance, so there won't be a need to replace parts; however, the service "visit" is a given. The bottom line is that am left with higher than average monthly water bills because I have to wash smaller loads, the need to replace clothing, the need to replace a practically new washer because I have a washer that does not perform. My advice to anyone considering this product/product line is DON'T DO IT!!!

I have purchased several washers and dryers under different names but they were all made by Whirlpool. I have never seen such garbage in my life! The dryer door handles break and they aren't covered by warranty. Why would they be when they charge $50 each for them. What a cash cow they have made for themselves. The door latch is stronger than the hooks and tabs that hold the handle to the door. They break, the handle falls off and you have to buy another one. $50 is simply crazy for that little piece of plastic. Their washing machines aren't any better. You can start the machine but it won't keep running. I have to stop it, unplug it for 60 seconds and restart it. It works for a little while then stops. Sometimes it just sets and soaks and never does start again.
I'm sick of these machines. The dumb lawmakers in this country are making manufacturers build machines that use little or no water. How do you clean clothes with no water? You don't! It's too bad Whirlpool is making everyone's machines. There used to be competition among the manufacturers and now that Whirlpool is making everyone's junk, there is no competition. What a lot of folks seem to not understand is that buying a different brand washer will not solve the problems. The root of the problem is (1) The EPA regulations and government bureaucracy will not allow any manufacturer to make a washer that washes clothes properly, (2) There are only a scant few actual manufacturers of appliances, most are made by the same companies with different names, (3) We are sold on the idea of "features" and electronics on appliances - (and vehicles - but don't get me started there) that we do not really need and cause us nothing but trouble and expense, and (4) The manufacturers have sunk so much money in research and development to attempt to make a functioning washer that will meet government regs that the actual materials put into building them is cheap. I have been there, done that with electronic front load Kenmore (made by Whirlpool).
As stated by someone else, I would not spend my money on any new washer except maybe a Speed Queen, not sure how badly the new ones are affected by government rules, though. I solved my problem by picking up good working 15-25 year old basic top-loader washers. I can usually fix them myself, and parts seem to still be readily available. Used to be, you went to Sears, bought a new top-load basic washer, it lasted trouble-free for 10-15 years, maybe longer, when it broke, you went back to Sears, bought another that lasted 10-15 years, repeat. Now you pay $1000.00 or more for one, lucky if it lasts a year with no problems.

DO NOT BUY! Top load GE washer with no agitator. This is the worst design ever. Clothes do not get clean, in fact half the clothes on top are still dry never even get wet. Everything is all in knots no matter what size the load is. The clothes end up in one side of the washer and it shakes like Elvis Presley. It also walks across the room. In order to get clean clothes I have it set to deep fill every time and add an extra spend every time. I cannot leave my home if I have a load of clothes in the washer. I am so disappointed. This is the first new washer I have had in many years!!!

Do not buy GE products because I am in the maintenance field and our company bought all GE appliances and we have an astronomical amount of these cheap made appliances that don't last as long as the warranty carries out and it cost a ton in parts and time consumed in just trying to have a working appliance. This company has shamed America and should be a lawsuit on them for fraud due to the sale of overpriced products made to not last. Parts are cheaply made and price is outrageous to replace or fix. Shame on GE, they have sold out America!!!

Purchased machine on 6/15/2015. In December, 2016, the machine made a very loud whining sound, then stopped working. It would not even turn on! The resulting repair was to replace the motherboard and another repair to the pump. I was without the machine for 2 weeks. This repair cost me half of the cost of the machine. I paid it, because when this machine works, it cleans very well, and has lots of options. Six months later, June, 2017, the machine fails again. Again, it lets out a loud whining noise, and the basket will not rotate. It was diagnosed today as either the motor, or a board that controls the motor. The replacement part/s will take another week to arrive! I signed up for an extended warranty program after the first repair, but using this extended warranty makes the repair take so much longer! I now hate this washing machine!

Top Line GE Monogram Clothes Washer is Practically Useless. For 2 years I've been thinking. I'm washing clothes in this machine but nothing ever smelled clean and clothes looked older with each wash. Yesterday I pulled up a stool, washed clothes all day and watched everything the machine did and didn't do. The water level doesn't cover the clothes and during the wash cycle it just slowly moves clothes back and forth across a plastic arm at the bottom of the tub which just rubs the same spot on each garment. This rubbing is not sufficient to actually clean the entire item and the soapy water doesn't penetrate through the entire garment. It spends more actual time "Sensing" and "Filling" and "Spinning" than it does washing.
I tricked it into filling over the tops of clothes but the swishing action was still slow and meager like wringer machines from the 1940's. Today I just tried to wash a thin, washable comforter and the machine simply filled with water (Using my trick), "Sensed" and right away proceeded to empty! It didn't even try to swish and wash even though it was on a "Comforter" setting. It "Rinsed" the same way (Twice) and I realize now that for anything except t-shirts and shorts, I'll need to wash by hand or continue to just wet clothes, leave accumulated soap still in the fabric and call it clean. I had a Kenmore with an up and down chugging action for 30 years and it was far better than this expensive tank. I realize the GE appliances are all pretty much deemed trash by the consumers which says a lot about today's engineers. I wish I had my old Kenmore back from Goodwill!

But I bought extended warranty from Sears for 2 yrs. So now Sears has to come and service it and GE didn't seem to care. I am contacting Better Business Bureau next. I hate these new washers. I was under the impression that GE was reputable company and that they manufactured solid products. As a result I purchased a GE stainless steel dishwasher, front load right height dryer (last month) and front load right height washing machine (2 yrs. ago). Last week my washing machine started making a sound that definitely indicated something had gone south. Sounded like a bad bearing type of noise. I called a local appliance repair guy and he took a look. He said he had bad news and really bad news (never a good scenario). Bad News - He said that a bearing had in fact gone bad. Really Bad News - It was going to cost almost as much to fix as it would be to buy a new washer. I spent $1399 for this washer from Home Depot. I was excited to get it and felt it would be a solid machine that would last years. WRONG!!! You would think a washer of this so called "caliber" would last longer than 2 yrs.
Regardless, I was positive GE would realize that this was an unacceptable result and thus certainly stand behind their product. I was wrong again... When I finally got in touch with someone from GE - don't even get me started on how frustrating that was. It's almost impossible to get through the maze of GE-CARES numbers etc. And when I finally did through to someone they could've cared less!!! In all of the frustration of not having a functioning washer it was the attitude of GE that was the kicker. And to think I purchased 3 high dollar appliances from this company. I think it's safe to say, my next purchase is NOT going to be a GE appliance!! I knew I should have gone with MAYTAG washer and dryer!!!

I recently purchased a GE Hotpoint Washing Machine HTW200ASKOWW Serial Number: RG162585H at Lowe's. We were looking at a Samsung Front Load but the salesman said that this machine wasn't any good because of a supposed fire risk. I'm not sure which is worse... allowing him to influence our purchase or the fact that we were stupid enough to buy it!!! We have had nothing but trouble with it. EVERY LOAD ends up leaving a white residue on the clothes that is next to impossible to remove.
At first I thought that it was caused by having towels in with other clothes but we separated them, making sure that there wasn't anything that would leave lint. Since I am writing this it obviously didn't work. I went online and read the different suggestions to prevent the residue... Again still writing, Didn't work. The other problem is that it doesn't wring the clothes out. There was so much water on the clothes that I was literally able to wring water out of them by hand. We had a Maytag Front Load that lasted for almost 20 years. We paid a good bit for it (at the time) but it was absolutely worth it!!! If this stops even 1 person from making the same mistake that we did when we bought this GE then it was well worth the time spent writing it!!!

We purchased our GE top loading high efficiency washer from our local Sears one year ago on May 31, 2016. This is the worst washer EVER. Doesn't get your items clean. Doesn't stay balanced. Sheets come out all knotted up. Can't get enough water. A small load gives you 4" of water, a med load gives you 4-1/2" of water, a large load gives you 5" of water and a super size load gives you 6" of water. Seriously. And this is a washer with an extra deep tub? What's the point of an extra deep tub when you can only get 6" of water? I paid $539 for the washer and an additional $169 for a 3-yr warranty through Sears. Never buy a warranty through Sears, but that's a whole other story.
So, we've got $813 w/ tax, wrapped up in this washer. We have a water softener, our hot water tank is turned up much higher than normal, and I use good detergent, so there's no good reason this washer won't clean our laundry. But ALL of our laundry stinks... clothing, towels, bedding, you name it, it stinks. It doesn't even feel clean... it feels just slightly greasy. My guess is it doesn't get all of the detergent out. Anyway, in the first year of ownership, the Sears repair tech has been here 6 times. GE has sent someone out here twice. I keep telling them I don't want the washer... it's the design of the machine that's no damn good.
Here's how it works: I set the washer on a super size load, on hot water, with a 2 hour soak, and I use the heavy whites cycle because that's the longest running cycle on that machine, and I set it on a deep rinse or a second rinse and start the washer. Add detergent and put the clothes in. It twists the clothes around for a few minutes, and stops, so it can sit through the 2 hour soak. When 2 hours is up, the machine starts washing. It gets through the cycle and shuts off. Throw your clothes in the dryer, and when they're dry, you hang them up. Oops, that shirt is stained.. .pre-treat it and set it aside. Oops, another stain. Pre-treat it and set it aside. Fold some socks, etc. Oops, another stained shirt. Pre-treat it and set it aside. Nearly every single time I wash. So, I virtually have this pile of stained laundry that I have to re-wash. And usually re-wash for the third time.
Just how efficient is a washer when you are doing your laundry over and over and over and over?? Sears will not stand behind this machine. The only thing GE will do is replace the machine, so since we paid for it on a credit card, I called the credit card company. They said the machine is a year old so they can't do anything about this particular machine, but if I let GE replace it with a new machine, they might be able to do something about it. So, that's the next step.
If the credit card company cannot get our $813 back so I can go elsewhere and buy a NON HIGH EFFICIENCY machine, I'll haul the washer out to be junked and chalk it up to a lesson learned. Never shop at a Sears (not hard to figure out why Sears are closing all over the place), never buy a Sears warranty because they're worthless, and NEVER buy a GE appliance. I cannot believe that two companies as well known as Sears and GE have turned their back on customers this way. Shame on them.

I called on 5/12/17, to be told that it takes 3 business days to process claims but that since it was less than a year old it would be a manufacturer warranty. They would have to contact GE. I was told to call back on Monday since this was on a Friday. I called back on Monday and they told me they couldn't tell me anything because the 3 business days wouldn't be up until Wednesday because Friday isn't counted as a business day. Not sure why not!?! I asked them for the number for GE to call them directly.
I called GE on Wednesday and they told me there weren't any service techs in our area but they had 48 hours to look for one. I was told they referred it to a service subcontractor by the name of Service Power to try and find a service tech. I called Service Power and they said they had no request from GE to find a service tech for our area and that I am not supposed to contact them. It is supposed to come from GE. I called GE back and was told that it showed I had a service call on 5/16/17. I was home all day and nobody came to my house, let alone call me to set anything up. Not sure how they could show I had a service call when Service Power was the subcontractor and Service Power said they had no referral for it? I asked GE that since there was not a service tech in our area to replace it. I was informed that was not possible until I called and talked to their customer relations dept and they were not open on the weekends.
So now I am having to wait until Monday to talk to GE customer relations for I'm sure another run around. I purchased a GE washer in 2000. It was great. If it was out of balance, it automatically, immediately self-corrected. I never had any problems with it. I wish I had it back. July 2015, after reading and hearing about the "new" agitatorless washers, I decided I had better get a new one with an agitator before they were no longer available. I bought another GE -- big mistake! I should have read this blog site before I bought one. The options indicated wash temps of: hot, warm, cold. Big lie. I called tech service, sent out a repair technician. He tells me that due to government regulations all washers are now required to have a sensor that controls how "hot" the water can be. The "hot" setting produces what I call "warm" water; the "warm" setting produces barely warm; and "cold" setting, is as it says "cold".
The tub will only fill half full -- another government regulation. Therefore, clothes wear out quicker due to not being able to move freely -- unless you only put about one-third a normal load. No energy efficiency there! Clothes don't come clean. The washer does not spin the wash water out -- just pumps it out and immediately starts running the rinse water! So, a good bit of the dirty wash water is mixed with the rinse water! Good grief! The agitator veins aren't attached to the agitator base. Long sleeve shirt sleeves or any other "strings" get wedged tightly under the veins. This happened several times -- the sleeve was tight and twisted under three of the veins. It took ten minutes to get them out! All clothes come out twisted and wrinkled. I used to hang clothes on the line in nice weather. No more, these have to be dried in the dryer to get the wrinkles out. No energy saving there.
The "out of balance" issue that many others complain about: OH MY GOSH! It bounces all across the floor!!! Scares you to death! Sounds like an earthquake. No matter how well you balance when you load the clothes, they won't be balanced when it is finally ready to spin -- after the rinse cycle. In March 2017, after only 20 months of use, I could deal with it no longer. As I began my research, I could see by this blog site that there was no point in calling GE (or Lowe's, it wasn't their problem).
After much research I found that the Speed Queen is the only washer that has HOT water, will run a FULL tub of water, spins the wash water out, and doesn't get out of balance. It cost $1000.00! At that point, I would have paid more! I bought one. I LOVE IT! It is a joy to do my laundry now. I can't wait to get a load to do. What to do with the GE? I wouldn't think about charging anyone for that piece of junk. I am giving it to someone who can't possibly purchase a new machine. I have pointed out the problems. They are ok with that. I hope they don't regret it.

Bought a new house and this house came with all GE products and the washer has been a disaster from the beginning. Every time I'm doing laundry the washing machine would just shake to a point where I thought there was an earthquake. I go in and I see the washing machine just shaking and moving itself across the room.
I call GE and someone comes out, tells me it had some bolts that weren't screwed in and yet the issue is still present. And until then I call 3 more times and 3 more technicians come by and cannot solve the problem. As frustrated as I am I call GE asking for a replacement because OBVIOUSLY this product is FAULTY from the beginning. They tell me another technician needs to come out and see that the product is unrepairable and I make an appointment and on the day of the appointment I get a phone call that the technician cannot come out today. I wasted my day and time for a technician that does not tell me ahead of time. I stay patient and they reschedule for the next day.
The technician comes the next day and tells me if I have no laundry in the machine there is no shaking but with laundry there is and that this shaking is normal. How is this normal? Am I supposed to do laundry with no clothes in the laundry machine? And he starts talking about how these "newer products" are not good as the older machines. And basically tells me I should have kept my old washer instead of buying a new one. And he leaves without fixing the machine.
I call GE (again) and tell them this product does not seem to be fixable. And they tell me they need to speak with the technician and they put me on hold and GE tells me that the technician did not see an issue with the machine and that it is just a "minor" shake. How is this a "minor" shake. I can feel the washer shaking from across the room! Obviously this isn't my first washer and my old washer. I had that machine for 10 years. NEVER did I experience a shake like that! I constantly tell them this is a faulty machine and this shaking is not normal and they deny it. I have ANOTHER appointment next week. Let's see what kind of excuses they make up this time! I have recordings of this machine. Sucks I can't upload them. Just take my advice and DO NOT PURCHASE GE! SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND STRESS!

I purchased a GE Infusor Washing Machine (top loader) in July 2011. Was told by sales person that this was an energy efficient washer and would save me money because it uses less water, blah, blah, blah. Well this machine has been nothing but a nightmare! You have to start the washer, add detergent, let the water run a bit, add clothes, one layer at a time until water is over top of all clothes. In between layering the clothes, you have to close the lid so machine runs. Clothes came out dirty because water never even touched them. They had white spots all over them. Had to rewash them. Also, the machine makes a swooshing noise when it washes. Sounds like it is falling apart.
Unfortunately, GE wouldn't do anything about it. I decided to accept the fact that I had purchased a piece of garbage. Then in 2013, the machine stopped working. GE service guy came out and told me the motor had gone out. $300.00. I should have told him to take his machine and put it where the sun doesn't shine. But, I purchased a new motor. Owning this machine has been an absolute nightmare. We purchased this machine at the end of Dec 2016 and it has been nothing but trouble ever since. Since we purchased this machine, we had used it twice. Both times, the clothes came out soaking wet after the cycle. The third time we used it (mid-January), the machine sensed an imbalance and locked up. We called GE to troubleshoot and after a few unsuccessful attempts of trying to get the lid to release, they agreed to send a technician out.
The technician showed up and took less than 10 minutes to tell us that the issue was with the motherboard and that it needed to be replaced. We soon found out that they had no motherboard in stock and it would not be until the beginning of February before we could get a new one. This was a 3 week wait. We were unhappy as this is a brand new machine (around 1 month old) and it had already failed. After waiting the 3 weeks, the technician arrived and had the motherboard to change out of the machine. They changed the motherboard on the machine and it still did not work. They had no idea what was wrong with it.
We had to contact GE to finally get them to replace the machine as we had lost trust in the product. Unfortunately, even with this resolution, they said it would take another 2 weeks before they could deliver the washing machine. By this time, we were so frustrated with the product that our issue was escalated and we were speaking with a member from their office of the president. This is where the poor customer service truly escalates. We wait the two week period and see the delivery truck come with the new washing machine. They bring down the machine and unpack the box and the machine is dented and in such bad shape, that the delivery guys had said they aren't going to deliver the product because it won't work and it's pointless to install another defective machine.
At that point, we called the direct line to the member every day. Every day it went to his voicemail, and we left a message for him to call us back to discuss what the new solution would need to be. After all, we've already waited over 5 weeks for them to get us a working product. His voicemail always stated that he was in the office and that he would call back if we left a message. He never did. Eventually, we received a call from the delivery person to say that a replacement was available, but we had never received a call back to update us or even to let us know to call the regular support line letting us know that a replacement was on the way.
I've lost a lot of trust in GE as a company. It's very upsetting to see a company that used to have such great products and a great reputation to be treating their customers like this. I understand that a product can fail at any time because of all the parts that go into creating a product, but to not call a client back to at least offer an update is extremely upsetting and disrespectful. The amount of time that my family and I had put into this and the lack of courtesy that the company had offered towards our situation is very disrespectful and sounds like a company that only cares about the dollars and not about how their product and services can enrich a family's lives.

I purchased a new GE washer and dryer in January 2015. In June 2015, I started to have issues with the Dryer. I called in and they took care of it under warranty. In December 2015 I started having even worse issues with the washer and I called it in and they dragged their feet and didn't send anyone out till near my expiration date of warranty. I complained that the person did not fix my washer and they informed me that I would have to pay for the service call because my warranty was now up. Just barely up and had they fixed it when I first called I wouldn't have had the issues! I could have called them back in my warranty time. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER purchase any other type of GE product nor will I recommend them to anyone. I now have a brand new, broken, washer that I paid around $1500 for the set.

I told retailer and someone came and says nothing's wrong!!! I have to literally lay my body over it when it spins!!! I don't like that it puts how much water in it that it wants to, don't like the lid locking or anything about it but color white. I'm not usually a mean speaking person but I'm writing this as my body is literally draped across top of machine to hold machine in place as I do my laundry!!! Do not buy this product (GE front load washer model #WCVH4800K2WW)! If you do you had better get an extended warranty and have lots of time. I have had it for only a little over 3 years. The washer drawer has had problems with leaking twice now. It takes the GE service technicians 4-5 visits to fix the issue (the part costs over $400). I just had my 5th visit to fix the drawer and they switched the water hoses so it now rinses all loads with very hot water. I notified GE within 2 hours of the repair but they cannot come back for a week (another half day off to wait around for service). Terrible product and service. Ability to clean clothes is fair. The dryer that matches this product balls up the clothes and only works well with light loads - sheets end up in knots and half dry. GE consumer advocate was of no help. I will avoid all GE products in the future.

I have had no issues with my GE front loading Washer and Dryer that I purchased in 2004, until last month. The washer needed a small part that wore out replaced. Last year I had 2 old dogs and this year I have 2 puppies so for the last 12 months the washer and dryer have been run almost every day. Prior to that they were run at least once a week for hours at a time. The washer is operated by pushing fake buttons on the plastic. The only issue at this point is that the plastic fronts are cracking (probably from old age). When I need to buy again I will have no issue looking at GE models.

I love the washer. It has a deep fill option if you like more water but it really does work with minimal water. I watch through the glass lid and all the clothes move through the cycle. I wish there was an option to slow down the spin cycle for delicates. It still spins at full speed, just for a shorter time. The one thing I hate, is sometimes it leaves lint build up on the black clothes. Most of it comes off in the dryer, but on the clothes I just hang up to dry, I have to manually rub the lint away. Pain. The deep rinse option may help with this.

The cooktop failed and had to be replaced within 3 months (getting it replaced required contacting the GE CEO's office). Within 9 months the pump on the dishwasher had to be replaced and the refrigerator had to be repaired. 2 years later the range hood is not working properly, the front loading washer has to be repaired at a cost of $650 or be replaced and the dryer stopped operating properly a week ago and will need to be repaired. Last night the microwave started smoking and part of the inside wall melted. Top Loading Model GTW680BSJ - We just purchased a new home, built by LENNAR, that included all GE appliances. The very first time I used the washing machine water poured out of the bottom. Technician found the tank had a hole in it and when he contacted GE they informed him it was a known problem cited in an internal bulletin HL08-16. They claim the unit is repairable, but the GE technician said repairing it would mean completely disassembling the machine. We all know that if you have to take something completely apart, it rarely works as it should. GE Customer Service has been dragging their feet for 2 weeks rejecting out of hand my request to replace the machine with a new one. And they do not seem to be able to send anyone to fix it either. The other complaints folks have regarding their customer service I have also experienced to the max.
It would seem that if they provided a new washing machine out of the box and it had a known defect that is pretty massive, they would step up and provide a new one. But the Service Representative told me, "There is no way we will give you a new washer -- it is repairable and we will repair it." I went to Lowe's and purchased a Maytag washer, had it delivered in one day, and have put the GE machine in the garage for them to come and fix it when they can seem to decide how they are going to do it. All they do is call me every 2 days and tell me they are working it.
In the meantime, I will be working towards filing legal action against GE and LENNAR for providing something with a known defect and not disclosing that during the sale. Probably the most interesting thing was a comment the GE Customer Service Representative told me -- "We only read the data, we don't know anything about GE bulletins and we don't care. We don't talk to the technical team at GE. We don't have defective products -- we will fix it 100 times if we need to."

This same thing happened again after the one year warranty was up and I had to pay to fix it. When I would put the clothes into the dryer, there were times that the clothes did not get dry and I would have to start the process again. RE: GE Clothes washer No: GTW485ASJWS - PURCHASED April, 2016. Totally unsatisfactory. Very loud, washer jumps and jerks while spinning, moves constantly and has to be pushed back into place after each wash. Not enough rinse water used even with deep fill and dark clothes when dried show residue from detergent. Must use extra spin on all wash cycles. Bulky items can't be washed without stopping washer and rearranging clothes several times. Sheets finish in knots. At times all cycles work, then they don't and then they work. Three service calls with GE. "Nothing wrong. Nature of washer" so the technician said. He said cheap washer and I agree with that. Paid $539.99 on sale.
However one technician did put in a new computer but that didn't help the jumping and knocking of the machine. Do not recommend this washer or any GE product as GE has not stood behind this problem. Their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I'm sure GE has spent more on service calls than I paid for the washer, but will not give me another washer. GE washer with fill sensor GTW485ASJ0WS - Worst idea ever. You are supposed to put in your detergent, then clothes then start 'er up. It locks, and spends between 3-5 minutes trying to figure out how much water to add. I'm serious. During that time the washer is locked and it's not filling - it's just thinking, squirting a little water in, thinking some more. Eventually it starts filling up and then unlocks. This is when I add the soap. So - I have to wait 3-5 minutes, after I've loaded and started the cycle, for the machine to unlock and add soap. Stupid. Another stupid thing... Much soap do you add if you don't know how much water the machine will decide to use. I opened the machine one time, paused it to see what was going on. The load was big, but it was lighter wt - sweats, tees, socks, etc... Because the clothing was light wt, the machine had decided the load needed less water. Because it was a big load, I had decided the load needed a large load serving of soap.
Another stupid thing... After loading up a load of jeans, I shut the lid, prepared to wait the required 3-5 minutes before the water started flowing, the lid unlocked and I could add soap. I shut the lid... And saw that the cycle was on delicates. I turned the knob to jeans. Now at this point there was barely any water filled yet. The machine decides that it has to drain the washer, spin out the water, and try to reassess how much to fill the machine. But somewhere along the way, it got confused and just kept trying to drain. It did this even after I unloaded it completely and unplugged it. So - after multiple tries, I unplugged it again, and left the room for 1/2 hour.
Came back and plugged it in, and apparently 1/2 hour was long enough for it to forget what it had been trying to do & just start over again. So - hear this - to get one load started, where I mistakenly had the cycle set wrong and switched it before the machine was full or washing even - it took about 40 minutes. Thanks GE. Your product stinks.

Washing machine model GTWN4250M1WS - Do NOT buy a GE! This damnable machine, <5yrs old, is supposedly energy efficient. Not when EVERY load has to have an extra rinse, it isn't, no matter HOW little laundry soap's used! Sometimes it leaves clumps of powdered laundry soap - AFTER the cycle finishes - so what's happening with the liquid soap I occasionally try? Once it fills it won't accept ANY settings changes - when I've tried, it instead empties all the soap and clean water, NEVER agitating.
Only if set on "Gentle" will it - sometimes - not twist all the pants/LS shirts into sausages. If I put it on fill with no clothes in it - even if not on the auto-sensing - and leave for even a second too long, it will "fill to less than 8", not nearly enough for the XL load of waiting clothes, & no changes of the dial will get it to put in more. We had a Maytag in our last home and will look for another when we can kick GE to the curb!

They contacted a warranty repair and set up an appointment - the first appointment was the following week (time I had to take off work). The repairman came to tell me that they had to replace the sensor. That took a week and a half to receive. In the meantime I took time off again to contact GE's consumer affairs (their hours are M-F 9 to 5). After waiting an hour and a half on hold I was basically told I could file my issue but there was nothing they could do to rectify the issue.
I was out of town for work and could not take off to wait for the repairman so it has been over a month without my washer. We went back to where we bought them and they put us through to GE customer service where the gentleman on the other end made us feel like total morons. It's like we never did a load of laundry before.
They eventually sent a repairman about a week later and he came in and saw the issue and ordered a new Motherboard and set of dials. And yet another 9 days of waiting for parts. And yet another phone call to the repair place on Monday Jan 16 and the service guy will not be here until Jan. 24th. I hate, loathe, and despise this "high-efficiency" washer. As others have related, despite the use of HE liquid detergent, the washer leaves a white residue on dark clothes that is nearly impossible to remove. Even using the extra rinse cycle does not guarantee that the residue is washed off, and since the idea of HE is to use less water, having to use a second rinse defeats that questionable purpose. Since the machine uses a minimal amount of water, the clothes are not very clean, and there is obviously soap residue left on/in the fabrics. If I could give this washer no stars, I would.

After 5 years of use on the washing machine we started to have major problems (the washer Has NEVER been abused and is still to this day in like new condition). Come to find out there was a major recall where the drum comes completely off during spin (which is what happened to our unit). MODEL: WPDH8800J0WW/SERIAL: SR20095OT. In 2013 when the machine was 5yrs old GE techs came and performed the recall. Going forward we had techs come back because the drum never spun right again. Spun so fast we thought it was gonna blast off to the moon! Techs hooked up their machine and put it to their computer test and could not duplicate any problems! I even made a recording to show the tech! Again still no help or fix but they were so kind (sarcastic) not to charge us a trip call!
Finally this week a tech comes again (3rd time is a charm), and now says "I've never seen this before but when I took the top off the drum and weights have come off again". All related to original problem! After talking with his home base he said it'll be $400 min to repair OR they'll probably make you a great deal on something new! I called customer service and gotta say they're horrible to talk to also! Terrible customer service on every level and immediately was turned off by their nonchalant attitude at helping make me whole again and standing by their product!
They offered me a new machine Model: GFW480SSKWW for the low cost of $1,140.98 and a matching dryer for the same price also! (Since the matching dryer I have computer syncs with the old washer is no good anymore due to technology advancements.) For a grand total of 2,281.96 before taxes etc! Needless to say I have NEVER felt so taken advantage of and will NEVER buy another GE appliance if possible due to this experience alone! I have turned to ConsumerAffairs in hopes to warn of this issue and anyone else who may be dealing with the same product! In August 2015 we bought a matching washer (GTW810SSJ0W) and dryer (GTD81GSSJ0WS). The dryer broke a belt after the third load. When the factory tech repaired the belt, he discovered the computer interface board was also bad. Once everything was fixed the dryer still would not dry clothes because it was spinning the clothes too fast. GE claimed it was working within spec. 7 weeks without a dryer and tired of fighting with GE we went back to the dealer and he got the GE Sales rep to send us a new dryer. The new dryer had a slight model number change to GTD81GSSJ1WS. That tells me the GE knew there was a problem too. So far the dryer has been working.
Fast forward to October 2016, our washer started making clicking noise in the drive/transmission. Remember we were going to the laundromat for 7 weeks while the dryer was broke so we really did not get 15 months of use out of the washer. Since it was now out of warranty we decided to run it to failure which it has done this week. I believed that the Mode Shifter (depending which part site you visit) is what is broken but I will not spend the money to find out.
The washer also would have long run times and leave soap stains on clothes. The reason for the stains is because the lack of an agitator would not pull the clothes under the water. The HE feature only fills the tub 80% full based on weight therefore you never know how much soap to put in because you never know the amount of water that will be filled into the tub. The rinse cycle is based on the amount of soap it detects and will keep rising until clean, thus the long run times. This is another reason to get rid of the washer instead of attempting a repair.
Since the repair is estimated to be more than half of a new low end washer and that it is obvious that GE appliances are not built last, we opted to replace it with a non-GE washer. Our salesman noted that most appliance makers are changing model numbers every 6 to 9 months. I do not know if this is a fact but it makes it hard to compare apples to apples for reviews or finding long term trends with failures. I suspect that is true since an internet search only found one matching failure (the same GE dryer out of the box).
My point of this review is not only that GE produces junk but it is more of a warning against online reviews. Most reviews are written days after first use and they do not ensure long term reliability. I am basically saying that the online reviews are helpful but should be written 6 months after use to give more reliable feedback. I am not going waste my time looking for my receipt but will gladly find them for any GE rep that want to dispute my facts.

First service guy, Ken from Diamond Factory Service, came out and insulted us by stating perhaps we didn't know how to properly load the machine. I started taking videos of the machine being loaded, and throughout the cycle, with different types of loads (mixed, sheets, etc.) as proof of the problem. Next service guy was from RAS. Didn't care to see the videos and didn't want to do an actual load.
Our case was "escalated" to consumer relations supervisor, Antonicia (1-800-386-1215 Ext. **). However, after leaving her numerous messages ("your call will be returned within 24-48 hours"), she never returned the calls. Home Depot will "let" us return the machine for a 15% restocking fee. This is by far the worst experience with a company ever. GE should be ashamed. The washer was cheap and simple. Nobody needs 50 options to clean your clothing. We thought this would be great. The Thing made a tremendous amount of noise but cleaned clothes great for a short period. Within the first month the washer was broken. Communication was difficult but somebody was coming to help. The repairman smoked a million cigarettes and didn't take a shower for a week before he came over. He came, made a few adjustments, the thing worked for 5 to 10 loads and stopped again. Same worker back after another 2 week waiting period. More adjustments, worked for a while. This became a pattern with the added time of ordering parts from GE, two weeks here and a month there.
Today a new control panel from the GE repairman. The warranty company hung up on my wife as she was losing her mind so they are not allowed in the neighborhood anymore. Control panel should have fixed it. Nope same place as before. No drain, no spin. Wondering why my wife lost it. 10 months of ownership, 8 visits from smokey joe the warranty dude, maybe 50 loads of laundry with a washer in our house, over 100 in the laundromat, hours on hold waiting for GE to get on the phone, Zero email replies. On Oct 28th, I went looking for a new washer and dryer cause my 6 year old Amana set went out. (They were a cheap brand so I wasn't too upset.) Decided this time we were gonna buy us a set of high efficiency GE washer and dryer. Went to Home Depot and picked out a set that costs us 1354.53 total. They got delivered on Wednesday, Nov 2nd. They plug in washer, it works perfect. They plug in dryer and it shuts off, unplug it and replug it, shuts off. Then no power at all. So we denied this delivery and returned it. Kept the washer.
Decided if the new dryer couldn't work on day one we didn't need that one, so we completely canceled it and got our money back. Come home from a trip Sunday the 6th and try to do laundry and the washer agitator was shaking so violently, it was pushing the metal out the side walls. Called Home Depot and immediately returned washer. Went to 4 different stores to find a different set that was in stock, and ended up with a set that's not GE.
I was highly disappointed I took off work on the 2nd to get 2 machines that didn't work, then on Sunday afternoon I had to spend 3 hours driving around to find a set so we could do laundry for the week. I even bought the 5 yrs extended warranty at the store cause I figured hey maybe in 3 years something might go wrong. But no it didn't even make it through 4 days.

I purchased an apartment sized gas washer-dryer. Dryer works fine. The washer, however, uses so little water (which is the energy saving component of the unit) it does not get clothes clean. The clothes are barely covered and the "agitator" barely agitates. My family performs physical work in the dirt. Let me just say that the only time, now, that anyone's white socks are clean is when they are fresh from the store. This washing machine doesn't get anything white clean. I have to manually increase the water or else wash a smaller load in a larger sized setting so that there is sufficient water to get socks, t-shirts clean and even then it's questionable. So I wash a small load in a medium setting set manually. Because the 'agitator' moves in short little bursts which doesn't really agitate the clothes I have to wash everything on the longest setting possible.
I can't help wondering... Doesn't GE test their appliances before putting them out on the market? I've got this machine ($1500.00) now and I'm stuck with it. But I hope you don't purchase one and waste your money. Buy a better machine. The whole purpose is to get your clothes clean, right? The model number I purchased is GTUN275GM1WW, 27" wide Spacesaver energy efficient washer-dryer unit (not stackables).
And I will also say this (in case GE is paying attention): I just hate the electronic controls. They serve no purpose other than to make operation more difficult and frustrating. It is much more convenient to have manual controls that I can manipulate as to my needs at the time. Electronic and digital is not more helpful, not easier to use and is much more expensive to fix when repair is needed. Over-engineering does not endear you to the public.

Landlords purchased a GUD24ESSJWW washer dryer stackable unit 5 weeks ago... 2 weeks into running the dryer stopped working, made a grinding noise, and we were told to call Appliance Rescue in San Diego... they sent a tech out the next week... 3 weeks ago who said motor was burned out and it would take 10 to 14 days to get parts. I called GE and acquired a customer advocate who assured me that she could get the parts sooner than 10 days delivered to us. 2 weeks later no parts or some parts but no motor which is what we were supposed to get. Got a call 2 days ago from Appliance Rescue and they said their tech had the parts. Called the tech and he did not know what we were talking about and thought we had the parts. I said I wanted a different tech. Called GE and they were astounded that we did not have the parts.
Appliance Rescue called back and said they would have their tech (different tech, Saturday tech) pick up the parts for us and come out to fix the dryer on Saturday the 29th today... the new tech came out and took the dryer apart and said the motor was not burned out as the first tech had indicated but mal-aligned probably during set up. Apparently fixed the dryer (not) and left assuring us that things were ok. Came home tonight to dry some clothes and the dryer is making the same noise. NO SUCH THING AS GE CUSTOMER SERVICE. IT IS AN OXYMORON. DO NOT PUT GE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IN SAME SENTENCE.
Endless stalling, lying, unkept promises, confusion and a downright incompetent San Diego repair svc offered by Home Depot who washed their hands of the product 24 hours after purchasing... will never buy a GE product again and will see what small claims court can do for me... time is money... and I have not been unable to dry my clothes for 3 weeks.

As I read all the reviews, I've got everyone beat. My washer and dryer are three months old. I live alone and air dry all my clothes except sheets and towels. I used my dryer three times. It stopped working. Repair person out three times. The entire motor was bad and they replaced it. It took a month since I reported it not working.
I started washing as soon as they left because I hadn't done laundry in a month. The last time I used the washer, I used bleach on my towels for the very first time in this washer. A month later I did darks. All my clothes were ruined with bleach stains that had obviously been left over from the last wash a month ago. I had already started colors when I noticed this. I ran and whipped out sopping colors onto the ground and hoped they weren't ruined. I put in whites without bleach, hoping another run would wash the rest of the bleach out. Put the soggy colors back in and was horrified when all my color clothes were ruined with bleach stains. My washer and dryer are three months old.

I had purchased a front loading GE washer (MODEL GFWR4800F0WW) in June of 2014. Looked great on the advertisement. About 6 months after using the washer machine, I noticed an odor that I wasn't able to figure out what it was. I switched detergents, I used hot and cold water and I even washed smaller amounts of clothes at a time. It wasn't until a year later that I somehow saw mold on the inside of the front gray rubber boot that seals the door. Nothing but bleach worked to remove the blackened mold. The boot is still stained but the mold is gone.
After each load, I leave the front door open as well as the soap dispenser tray but mold continues to grow in the rubber boot. Therefore, each month I have to clean the boot out with bleach. It is such a hassle for such an expensive washing machine!!! I know I need to clean the rubber boot each month because "washed" laundry starts to smell like it's been sitting for days even though it's only been sitting for a few minutes. So disappointed with the GE front loading machine. I would NOT recommend buying the GE front loading washer machine.

The washer will go through the whole wash/rinse/spin cycle with the lid up. The washer won't immediately stop if I push the knob in; it will agitate very quickly for a few seconds, even with the lid up. When I pull the knob back out to restart the machine, it takes at least a full minute for it to restart. I also don't like the water levels. I have to do 2 loads in this machine compared to one with my previous machine. Sometimes I have to spin heavier items 2-3 times even with power rinse on so the water doesn't pour from the item. I will not buy a GE washer again. I think this washer is very unsafe and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Beginning of August, 2016, stackable laundry unit was leaking. It is approx. fifteen months old! Official service rep for GE in my city came and diagnosed a new bearing was needed. Aug 29, 2016, bearing could not be fitted properly, two metal parts on bottom of tub fused together. New tub insert ordered from through Sears. September, new insert arrived, fitted by service rep. It was very difficult to fit because it had not been filed down after it was made. He had to remove some burrs on the tub. Fitted tub, checked out washer, good to go? Apparently not. One load of laundry later, machine stopped, all lights flashing.
Service rep back next day, needed new lid lock! September 29, 2016, rep arrived with new part, installed it, machine still not working! He spent a great deal of time on phone with technicians in the US, they did not know how to fix it either! New parts ordered again, control board, wire harness and thermal actuator. I do not know how long it will take to get these parts sent to Kamloops, or if they will work when they arrive. I have an extended warrant so it will not cost me anything. However, it is past being inconvenient now, I have been relying in neighbours for laundry facilities, and laundromat. It is getting costly to do four loads of laundry and dry them every week. It has cost almost a thousand dollars so far in parts and labour! The machine was approx. $1400 new!
Why do I have to keep being inconvenienced by GE? I would like a buy out, obviously the machine I bought is a lemon! I do not trust it now, I need something reliable, not something that constantly needs fixing. I am tired of waiting for parts, I am tired of the whole issue and if it is not resolved in the next two weeks, I will have the machine removed and taken back to the store in Kamloops. I will then purchase a different laundry unit from a different store. I will not deal with Sears again, nor will I ever buy a GE product. I expect to be compensated for my time trouble, I expect to be given whatever the machine is worth after fifteen months of use. At the moment, I am thinking of going to the media with this debacle. All I get from Sears, here in Canada and the US is the run around. Would someone please do something constructive for me and stop wasting my time and money.

It's now Sept 23, 2016. My husband and I have American Home Shield protection. When my Kenmore washer became beyond repair AHS said they were going to replace it. I looked at my husband and said "Cool, I don't even care if it's a GE." Damn, they sent a new GE. It was a tad over one year old when it broke in July of 2016. 2 repair guys from Sears came over on 8/2/2016; they ordered parts. The parts came in so 3 guys from Sears came back on 8/11/2016. They ordered more parts and came back on 8/17/16. The parts came in so 1 guy came on Sept 9.
Sears gave up so a guy from GE came over on 9/23/16 and ordered more parts. He can't come back until 10/3/16. So I will fold and buy a new washer/dryer at my own expense. Thankfully we were home and were able to shut off the machine but not before it smoked the entire house. We frequently set a load and leave, had we done that this time our house would have burned to the ground.

This washer also uses so little water, I have to use deep fill to get my clothes clean and even then on most cycles you can't baptize a canary in the amount of water. It twists the sheets into tight ropes that are almost impossible to untangle. I don't know what engineer designed this monster, but evidently they had never washed a load of clothes. If any piece of laundry has the slightest weak seam or even a fold, such as the hem of a pillowcase, it will be opened up and ragged. If I pause and open the lid, no matter what cycle it is on, even spin, it will shoot two streams of water into the washer when I close the lid.
The stupid little tunes it plays are irritating, to say the least. So we are sold a defective piece of appliance that both manufacturer and seller know about but not disclose to buyer? Some ethics. Am told they will send some type of software module to plug into the back to reset computer. Well that interaction was another story of its own; epic fail in customer service on behalf of Sears.
Two weeks later this module is delivered. Oh surprise, problem persists. Called Sears again. Tech coming tomorrow. But sounds like under no conditions are they going to take this appliance back. Big wonder! Why would THEY want a defective appliance?! This will be our last purchase of any GE appliance (did search today and read the large volume of complaints on GE products) nor will we be doing business with Sears in the future. Sad. I just purchased GE washer/dryer... not thinking before I bought it, "just like toilets, stoves, and all other appliances that I bought within the last eight years" mostly GE... that our government... yes the same government who can't seem to protect us and the EPA are now in the appliance business! After loading my washer and waiting for the wash to begin, I opened the hood to watch the wash "like we all do" thinking that if I put about a quarter worth of clothes, that the water would be about a half or at least a quarter full with water - not even close. You get maybe a quart of water now for a small load!
Forget that it doesn't even come close to soaping up anymore. I now have to add a bucket of water to every wash... for $1500.00 I would rather do my wash down at the river! Never again will I buy GE. We all wonder why nothing works anymore, why paint is $60.00 a gallon, toilets don't flush, washers use almost no water... and the uneducated blame corporate greed... what will the EPA screw up next?

It doesn't wash or rinse my clothes thoroughly...they even smell dirty when done. Without the washer even being turned on hot water poured into the washer until it overflowed and flooded my laundry room floor. I called GE for a service call and when the tech came he had no clue what caused it to do that. His response was, "If it does it again just call and schedule another service call". I am done with Sears and GE!!!! It's total BS to treat a trusting customer this way.

On-going problem with GE dryer, purchased for good money in Home Depot under 2 years ago. Won't start sometimes, maybe due to back-to-back use (overheating? just not sure). We are family of 3, so our usage is pretty normal and dryer is well maintained. Yet about 5-6 months back, it started exhibiting this symptom where it just won't start... it will creak and groan but just won't start for hours on end with a full wet load sitting inside and during attempts it would even interfere with TV signal.
A few days later it ends up working OK. One such time that it failed, I filed a service request through AHS (American Home Shield) and it was assigned to GE Application Service/Support, so I was thrilled! A couple of days later GE Technician walks in. Presses start button, works. Tells, it works, wants to take his $75 AHS fee and walk out. What the??? You got to be kidding me? Does my company pay me for nothing? How about some inquisitive questions - when does it happen? What happens? How many times in the last 5-6 months? Etc etc... Nothing. Was advised by AHS to take a video of the issue and show it and "hope" that the next time, they'll "actually do some work" for the money they expect to be paid. GE Application Service is a joke as are their dryers.

GTWN3000M1WS - Absolutely the worst washing machine I have ever used. About 2 years ago our 15+ year old Kenmore died. Besides advances in washing machine technology the HIGHER prices on a new Kenmore sparked our curiosity about some of the other brands that are around. Wasn't really needing a lot of fancy options, Just needing a washing machine that worked right. Within the first week that we had this thing I had a repairman visit because I wasn't sure that things were right with this washer. It sounded odd. Loud, creaky, draggy? The guy assured me that everything was good and that the noises are normal. The thing has the longest wash cycle of any washer I have ever used. About 40 minutes on a short wash. The thing spins so fast it practically dries the clothes before putting them into the dryer. That might sound great to some people, but believe me it is not a good thing.
The extreme, drying spin sets wrinkles into the clothes. Therefore adding extra work to the whole chore of doing laundry. Sometimes you can shake each and every piece of clothing before putting it into the dryer and that kind of helps, but usually you are going to have to break out the iron or else wear wrinkled clothes. And if for some reason you aren't able to promptly remove your almost dry, wrinkled clothes, the wrinkles are set in so bad that the only remedy is to remove the clothing, shake each piece out, and then put them back into the washer and rewash them. But, I dealt with our new washing machine and the new ways I had to do laundry. Then about 6 months ago, the washer was only 1 1/2 years old at the time, I started noticing a bit of water coming out from under the washer. It wasn't a lot at first, so I just tried washing smaller loads, different cycles, fewer loads, etc.
I had no idea that there was a bottom that held water at the bottom of the washer. When we took the front panel off about a month ago all of the rust was shocking. The bottom panel is capable of holding onto about 2 inches of water before it starts leaking out of a couple little holes that sit up higher than any point on this bottom panel. Therefore as the majority of the water is evaporating into the interior or the washer, you may go forever not knowing that you have a bad seal, everything will just slowly keep on rusting away, load after load, week after week. Until after about 2 years you have to get a new washer again. Not worth buying unless you have lots of time and money to either repair or replace after a short amount of time. After this experience I will never buy another GE product again.

The shirts certainly weren't like that prior to this load being washed.
We have inspected the units and find several areas where the plastic parts are very sharp and rough and could have caused this damage. Needless to say, we don't dare order another unit for fear that every time we wash something knit, which most of our clothes are today, it will be damaged beyond repair, just like these items have been. It was a GE top load, agitator model. The last model, made for Home Depot. We used the machine for a total of 18 months. I noticed our things were torn and shredded. I thought we were old people with old things that were wearing out. Then, one day it was undeniable that the machine was doing it. We looked at the local appliance shop rather than the box box store. The cost might have been more, but it was apparent Home Depot did not look at the quality of the product or stand behind it. I looked for a completely mechanical unit to replace it, with no electronic components. I also looked for a unit that did not attempt to save water. I can save that much water in other ways very easily. In my case, the washer severely damaged a sheet that was part of a $250 set. I knew it was not torn when it went in, and it has 3 four inch rips when I took it out.
I read up on the major American appliance manufacturers as I choose the replacement. It is clear that Whirlpool, GE and Maytag have merged, closed plants, downsized and rightsized until they are no longer distinguishable. Some even screwed their workers out of pensions on the way. We had our Maytag dishwasher repaired and the replacement panel came in a Whirlpool labeled box. These companies do not offer a product worth buying. None of them. My Maytag washer lasted 25 years. No way that will happen now. I bought Speed Queen. I paid a lot more, but I don't expect to buy another. It should see me out. It is completely mechanical and does not try to save me any water. I enjoy doing laundry now.

After having read that those GE "Profile" models were recommended by Consumer Reports, I chose them. The cost & purported reliability were factors that weighed heavily in choosing that brand and the model. The price was definitely a selling feature as I have little concern regarding aesthetics in such devices, as they sit unseen. Energy, capacity, and ease of use and reliability are all considers that are meaningful when buying major appliances that should last a very long time. Unreliability and failure to perform as advertised would certainly be deal breakers. The dryer has performed well, but the washer doesn't seem to have a lint filter and it needs one.
These were two white pairs, a washer and dryer. Both Profile models made by GE, which were highly recommended by C.R.. The only problem has been with the washer which will not fill properly if the "double rinse" cycle is chosen. The water just barely dribbles in, so it becomes necessary to avoid choosing that very handy cycle as it might never get filled for the second rinse.

At least my clothes have a semi chance of getting clean. We play hard in our garden and get pretty dirty.
Like I said we have been buying the older models until they break. They get our clothes clean. Hate the new top loaders. Would one day maybe consider new front loaders if they ever start to let you add water to your load if need be. Like I said, the new washers don't put enough water on the clothes and you can't add water if you want to. And the new agitators just don't get my clothes clean. We have sent back two. Our major concern was to find a large capacity 27" stackable washer/dryer to fit in the space we had. It absolutely could NOT be a Whirlpool brand, as we have already purchase 2 of them in 10 years. Frigidaire would have been my first choice, but not available here. GE was my next choice (I went by REVIEWS on the internet), and it was the only stackable unit that fit in the space allotted.
We have had it for a few months now, and are very happy. It is QUIET :). The capacity isn't as large as I would have liked, but OK. It doesn't have the pull out hanging rack (I miss that), & the person that installed it didn't balance it properly, so the dryer door won't stay open. Other than that we are very satisfied. Owned over a year. Dryer does not do the best job of drying large loads and takes a really long time to dry them. Washing machine works fine, but select dial has come loose, so you have to turn it from the plate rather than the dial or the dial just spins around without moving the settings. I look for energy efficiency, that it works as designed, is long lasting and has gotten good reviews. Cost is also a major factor. I want my appliances to last at least ten to fifteen years without having to repair or replace them. I am easy on appliances so if they break after two years, then I know they were put together poorly and will not purchase again.
I have a small space, so was looking into a standard washer and dryer that did not use a lot of energy or fill a lot of space. The GE Washer Dryer combo has been good, though not great. The washer does a good job of washing clothes, but it has had a few parts come loose and not work as well, like the selection dial and the center drain pipe, both of which worked loose. If I could afford better, I would buy better, but these both work. The dryer seems to take longer to dry... often have to add another thirty minutes to dry a regular load of heavy clothes (like jackets and jeans) and the lint trap lets lint escape back under the dryer so it has to be cleaned too often to prevent build-up. Little irritants, but worth the price paid.

If I am spending $1000 on an appliance, I would expect them to be trouble free for at least 7 years. Since these came with the house, I did not have a say in choosing them. That being said, the ability to adjust the appliance for load size, type of garment, and water temperature are important. Also, features like steam dry to de-wrinkle are nice to have.

Insignificant scratch and dent, under new warranty, no repairs like my 'relic now' with her untarnished history. Also, a quiet wash w/o all the 'bells and whistles' in wash options. I doubt anyone would want my size capacity 'historic' machine, though it has served my family well over the past 36 yrs in its simplistic way with no repairs.

GE HE Washer, GE Dryer - models from 5 years ago. At first, I was excited about the HE feature of the washer but as time continued, the HE feature of the washer is its worst feature. The dryer is fair but I have to run all load twice to completely dry; regardless, is it is 3 towels or 10 towels. I would avoid buying a HE washer. When it comes to washing clothes in cold water and hang drying, this machine is HORRIBLE. I have to wash only 4 items at a time with the "Super" load setting. The washer leaves lint and residue on clothing. I have developed a washing plan to wash by hang-dry clothes. It sucks! When washing clothes that can be placed in the dryer, the washer is fine. The drying cycle removes lint and residue. GE dryer (unsure of model number - unit from 5 years ago) is a fair dryer. I have to dry each load twice. This ensures that all clothes are dry and that all lint and residue is removed. I would avoid purchasing this dryer as well.

We bought a GE top loading washing machine about 3 years ago. It has had a very loud spin cycle. We paid 600.00 for it and got the stainless tub. Well it got so loud that my husband who is very mechanical took it apart and he found that the rods that held it level were bad in the back. The bearing was also bad and worn. GE did send us parts that we had to pay for. He then saw that there was a plastic tub inside the stainless one and the plastic was cracked where the bearing was housed. There is also bricks in the bottom. This machine is a complete lemon with a complete bad setup. You just don't put a bearing in a plastic housing that is spinning and running in water. The washing machine can't be used and the GE company said there is nothing they can do. We feel that we are out all our money for this machine. We didn't use it very much at all since there is only the two of us. No one should buy a GE washing machine. They are just a piece of junk.

I have had the GE GTWN4250DWS washer for 1 3/4 yrs. now and no complaints with how it works and using the various functions it offers. Only thing is that it still seems to regulate itself on how much water to use to fill up the basket with. The Extra Large and Super loads seems to be about the same amount of water and much less than my previous 15 yr. old washer used. I guess that's why they are more of a water saving machine. I have never had issues with spotting my clothes; not wringing out enough - absorbs all the water out extremely well. Mine came with an agitator, which I prefer to the ones that don't have any or a very small one at the base of the basket.

I purchased a hotpoint washing machine 4 years ago at Sears. And now after only 4 years of having the washing machine it is leaking oil and I have been told that the motor is going on the machine. I called for service on the machine and was told that I have to pay 109.99 diagnostic fee plus whatever the parts May be. Which most likely would be the same cost of a new machine. I am very disappointed and this machine. And I would like it to be replaced at a reasonable cost due to manufacturer's malfunction.

After washing dog blankets and or bedding, I have dog hair all around the inside of the washing machine drum to accumulate on the next load. This is even though I have brush off as much as possible and used tacky tapes. Washing towels has to be last because the amount of lint and fuzz on the walls of the washer sticks on any load after the towels.

Horrible products and customer service and repairmen. We wasted a lot of money on older model machines not knowing they were discontinued. Customer service is nothing more than a call center with uneducated and unprofessional girls "axing" us questions. Repairmen are no better. Never once honored a service call time frame/window. Evidently only two GE repairmen in our region. Neither knew what they were doing, did more damage than good. "Orlando" even tried to smoke a cigarette not knowing we were in the area where he was supposed to be working and fixing our machines. Wish we had read Consumer Affairs reviews.

I bought 6 new GE appliances at the end of July, 2014 for house I bought that was being renovated. All 6 appliances were installed at the end of OCT. and we moved in in NOV. First the Washer had to be repaired 3 times. The Refrigerator 2 times. And the dishwasher 1. Now, in Feb. 2016 we [Repairman] discovered the Drum was cracked. It was making a rubbing sound. Called GE and explained the problem. They told me that because it was out of warranty the best they could do was give me a discount on my parts even though I was told it came that way defected. Now I am stuck with a 285.37 repair bill on a year and one half old 1000.00 Dryer, that was used for a year and 4 months.
The last call [after the Dryer was fixed] to the Complaint Dept. told me there was no further action they "would" take and there was nothing else or no one else I could talk to make a formal Complaint. I would say that if this is the case and their policy that people should be aware and Beware of All General Electric equipment. I plan on pursuing this further and am going to inform the place where I purchased them, which is Home Depot that I expect more out of the products they represent. Buyer Beware.

I purchased a new GE Adora Dryer and Washer set after years of saving up. I was thrilled to have these Bronze Beauties adorn my laundry room! This was right before the holidays and I looked forward to washing every item in my home before the guests arrived! Three days before Christmas I threw a load in my sparkling new dryer hit the start button... and nothing happened. Was in shock, called GE and was told I would have a two week window before they could get anyone out. I had my kids, grandbabies, elderly parents and multiple four legged guests coming to stay for a week!
I owned this set no longer than a week before the problems started! I could not get anyone from GE to understand or care about the situation I was in. I had to go to the local store, buy ANOTHER DRYER (not GE) and place it in my laundry room between my new "Bronze Beauties" (renamed brown beauties). It has now been a little over one year, I have had 5 service calls for the same problem, months of a having a broken dryer and weeks of waiting for the serviceman and his 5 hour window! The same fuse blows every two months, the same serviceman comes, replaces some random part because he says he has no idea what is wrong and leaves saying "they should give you a new dryer, see you in a few months".
Calling GE is like calling the IRS... after all of the hundreds of calls I have made to this company I have never once talked to anyone that was courteous, caring, empathetic, or just plain nice! They have all been miserable, demeaning, judgmental and just plain rude! THEY DO NOT CARE and refuse to make a WRONG RIGHT! I will never buy a GE product again and am on a mission to spread the word to their future unsuspecting customers about the horrible treatment and apathetic attitude this company has towards the people that have PURCHASED their products.

Purchased this GE Washer - model# GTW46OASJWW because it's apparently the only one remaining with an actual agitator and the option of letting you pick the water level. After the first load, my clothes were still wet and sudsy. Thinking I may have pushed an incorrect button, I ran the load through a second time. Still quite wet, less sudsy. Ran the DRAIN and SPIN cycle. Water still remaining in the tub. I consider myself a pretty intelligent person, at least bright enough to operate a washing machine, but this one seems to be smarter than I!!! Returning this machine ASAP!

GE Washer GHWN4250D1WW - Poor Product. I bought this washer 04/11/14 and after it was delivered and set up I and my wife both thought it was a bit louder than our previous washer in the spin cycle. Since our laundry room is on the first floor we bought this machine because it was advertised as a very quiet running machine. We thought that we would just accept this and decided to keep it instead of dealing with the inconvenience of replacing it. (Big mistake!) After 15 months (out of warranty!), we noticed it getting louder in the spin cycle. I went online and started troubleshooting. I was told it was probably the tub bearing (actually a flanged bushing) so I read the article and watched the video on how to replace it. It looked like a major job so I decided to check about having a service person do it. I searched and found that it was very expensive so we put off having it done and we just struggled with the loud noise.
Of course it kept getting louder and louder (started to sound like a jet engine). It became so loud that we would stop it if we wanted to watch TV or talk on the phone. I decided to try and repair it myself. I bought the tub bearing ($20.20), tub seal ($5.99), spanner wrench ($17.14), drive belt ($14.49) and got started. I watched the video and took plenty of notes. When I removed the top panel I noticed that one of the 4 dampening straps was not bolted down (no screw, trust me I looked). I'm thinking this may have been the culprit that started the problem. I finished disassembling and when I removed the drive shaft and tube assembly, I manually spun the shaft and heard a grinding noise. I knew then that I still had more problems so I went back to the store and bought the shaft and tube assembly ($115.03, I have all the receipts). I re-assembled the machine and so far after 1 week it's working fine. (I think it's quieter now than when we bought it).
Bottom line, I understand that in assembling a product like this mistakes (missing dampening strap bolt) happen. I would like a response from a GE representative to help satisfy me before I would purchase another GE product. Finally, I spent a total of $172.65 in parts and quite a few hours (good thing I'm retired) to repair this washer. Thanks for reading and I hope this will help someone who may have a similar problem.

GE front load Washer/Dryer Set. Purchased 5 years ago from Home Depot. Washer delivery service caused a huge scratch in the plastic window. Offered $100 off. Told them to bring new one. Over 30 days to obtain. Finally arrived. Within 1st 2 weeks door gasket failed. Found out new upgrade gasket was available and it was installed. Gasket leaked, operation became extremely noisy, flooded my laundry room. Returned and replaced gasket. Leaked again. Offered upgrade floor model for exchange. Installed and worked well for about 6 months. Same problem with spinning and leaking. Repaired under service contract. Worked for about 6 months. Repaired again, worked for 6 months, same spinning and leaking. Complained to Home Depot.
Dryer operational for 2 months. Serviced by warranty people as noise and out of balance tumbling were very irritating. For about 2 years it was adequate. Failed after 2 years, bearing replaced. Many garments ruined by dryer. Clothes get stuck in drum. Worked for a while and more grinding, squealing, etc. Now about 5 years old. Dryer eats clothing and makes loud, irritating groans, squeals and wobbles. No warranty taken. Cost of warranty barely covers repairs. 1st off, I have NEVER complained about anything like this before. I also know that NOTHING will be done, and I understand that. However, I have a washing machine that I paid good money for. The funny thing is, this machine WILL NOT GET MY CLOTHES CLEAN and has been this way since I got it. I did entertain the thought that it was the machine. Then quickly I dismissed that, after all, this is a GE, I mean they don't make faulty washers, do they? So off I went, I purchased stain removers, over and over. Different soap, I always used Tide, but thought, maybe it wasn't working well, after all these years. Oxy Boosters, everything one could think of to get my clothes clean. To no avail!!!
So I did a test myself, I took a brand new white wash rag, bend town, and wiped up my floor. The washrag, had a off color grayish streak running down the rag. I put it in the machine, with a cup of detergent, and hot water. I put a few more items in the wash, and put a safety pin where the stain was. The wash was over and the washrag came out with a STAIN on the entire area I had marked. People, this is unacceptable, not only is it not getting things cleaned, it is ruining the new things. If I was to pay to have it fixed, what would they fix? I realize we are in the age of throw away printers, fax ,machines, even throw away phones. But goodness, are we at that point where it is "throw away washing machines?" Please tell me what to do. I need to get my clothes clean!!!

Bought this GHWN4250DWW washer 10/9/2014 - it worked great until a few weeks ago. When it is on the spin cycle, the washer literally sounds like an airplane is taking off inside my house. The "click" that you're only supposed to hear at the beginning of end of a cycle... my machine is making that sound during the entire agitator cycle. It sounds like someone is smacking a metal ruler against the side of the washer. Does not fill up to "set" load type, leaves marks on clean clothes and does not get all the soap out of the clothes!!! Paid $547 at home depot for the machine. From what I'm seeing so far, looks like I'll be purchasing another washer (not Ge) very soon.
I called the GE consumer line, the rep was helpful, and did grant me a waive for the 99.95 fee to have someone come out and diagnosis the problem and allowed the parts to be free, but the labor I would have to pay for. No one in my area until next week Thursday from 8-5, that's 6 more days away. At any rate, while I was on the phone waiting for 10 minutes to get the approval to have the fee waived since I was only out of warranty by 3 months, I came across this page and started reading everyone else's issues (which are the same as mine).
The rep came back on the line, apologized for the hold, told me they would waive the fee. I thanked her and then I said "So, I noticed this particular model has been discontinued and according to the consumeraffairs website there are almost 800 complaints about this washer. Why hasn't there been some kind of recall on this machine if everyone is complaining about the same problem?" Her response "Ok, we'll have the repairman in your area next week on Thursday between 8-5 to diagnose the problem with your machine." Question disregarded. Period, end of story, goodbye. I will update on the progress next week. And I'm going to start saving money for a Kenmore, Samsung, anything OTHER than GE.

1000M3WW - Gave up my working washer for their washing machine that doesn't work. Rinse cycle will not fill up which then your clothes are washed. Your clothes end up in a super very tight ball. The clothes of mine, it has ripped up or stretched out of shape which in turn pushes the agitator off center distorting the bottom water seal, which leaks all over like the Titanic then leaks on the spin cycle motor destroying it. Their repair company A&E is more like the Keystone cops. One screw up after screw up. It hasn't worked for three weeks. Their motto on their operating states "Laundry Your Way", that refers to a working unit. Something they don't care if we the customer has or not. This is the second unit of theirs all not even lasting a year. If I wasn't on guard to assure the rinse cycle had enough water to cover the it would have been very much sooner on break down.
It doesn't even have a spin after the wash which leaves your clothes very nasty on top of their thimble of water on the rinse cycle. Not a true washer. It just transfer nasty filth to your cleaner clothes. I'm a retiree, seems a rock on the Missouri River will be my new source of water with that old nasty river brown shade to sport on my clothes. Dang shame it's not a set and forget washer, the old wringer type washer is preferred to this Titanic disaster.

GCVH6260HWOW upright washing machine began not following proper cycles. Did not wash properly, then did not drain, eventually did nothing. Called the local repairman (we live in a rural area) he attempted to repair but said he had no access to the codes that came up. Apparently GE sold the codes to someone in a foreign country and you would have to purchase them, which he was not willing to do. Called the GE service centre in Winnipeg and they only do house calls. They would not travel the 100 KMS, and they do not have a shop where I could drop off machine. I then called GE directly and they basically told me, "tough luck". I then contacted Barkman Appliance Repair in Steinbach. Nice people. Delivered my washer to them.
