GE is a very reliable name brand with history to back it up. I’ve used their washing machines for years and only changed out once due to newer features. I had Thebes first washer for at least 10 years, maybe a little more. It only needed one part replaced, that was the capacitor, otherwise it was still usable. I am not an in depth handy person but I will read and do my research and found directions doable. Additionally, I found the service help desk very informative and that’s how I discovered it was the capacitor that had gone bad after washing clothes for so many years, and believe me, I did a lot of cycles with my kids and family. I feel I got more than my money's worth. Lastly, I’m still using their products to this day. I may not have the frequency because we are empty nesters but I still believe in their products,

Each time we have a power outage, the washer must be reset. Then, the water level button must be pushed for at least 30 seconds and it still doesn't reach mfg set super wash load level. This is one of the last washing machines made with an actual agitator, so I will keep using until it won't work. Washers should last at least 10 years. This is only 3. The extended warranty was canceled and refunded due to lack of service techs in my area.

After considering so many brands to replace a 30 year old Kenmore, I chose the GE. It had all the features I wanted, was energy star rated, and had great Consumer reviews. And it has proven equal to both heavy duty and very delicate washes. It is also very quiet, so the lovely chime to remind me a load is finished is much appreciated, and a huge improvement over the aggravatingly loud buzzer on my old set up! Highly recommended.

The GE washing machine is nice because it washes the clothes really well. It cleans very well. You can program the washing machine so it fills up with water automatically depending on the amount of clothes which is a good feature. You don't have to program the water level every time you put in a load. The negative thing is that sometimes if you need to add more clothes once you've turned it on the door gets locked and it becomes very difficult to actually get the door to unlock so you can open the door. I've tried turning the washing machine off and there is a wait for the door to unlock and sometimes you have to turn it on and off a couple of times so it unlocks. I recommended the GE washing machine highly.

The washing machine is extremely easy to get unbalanced and it sounds like the house is falling down. It can also be very difficult to determine how much detergent is optimal- both too much and too little detergent leave the laundry with a weird white powdery coating. For the most part though everything works great! No complaints about the dryer!

It only comes with a few different cycles but I found that it was strange for type of water, the options it gave was tap cold, cold, cool, warm, tap hot or hot. Never saw that on a machine before. I wash always in cold. Better for clothes in the long run and your pocketbook.

I will never buy a GE product again for as long as I live. Unless you want a nightmare of issues with your appliances, I suggest you do the same. This all started close to a month ago when moving into our new home. It is a beautiful home, but it came with no appliances. We were trying to keep cost low, but still have a reliable product. As you know, buying a home isn’t cheap and the cost can rack up fast.

I had a link for GE’s clearance items through my work. So, I thought I’d give a look at the products and pricing. After a little research, I discover a washer/dryer combo. The pricing is fair and the product seems reliable. Appliances were one of many issues to take care of, as we all know other issues arise closing on a home. Oh, and also in the middle of all this my girlfriend started a new role at her job, and I work in the health industry which is now like the rest of the world experiencing a pandemic. Needless to say, other issues were on our mind. At least the appliances were taken care of.

Fast forward to move in day. All day we haven’t received a call from the delivery team coming the next day. Seems odd, so we decide to call and make sure everything is ok. My girlfriend spends 30 minutes on the phone only to be told that the items were cancelled. What? How can this be I never received any notification? Oh, I did actually now that I check... They sent me an email, around midnight the night before! I could not believe it. I take the phone to try and get clarification, and the customer service rep tells me that their clearance items go to the first come first serve and if I wanted to avoid this issue, I should've gotten new products. I’m angry, and frustrated but that won’t solve anything. Against my better judgement and with millions of other issues to worry about, I follow the rude reps advice and bite the bullet on getting a new pair from Home Depot.

After over a week of waiting they’re finally here! Everything goes as planned, but the gas dryer kit hose isn’t long enough. Well, at least that’s an easy fix (you would think). It took all day to find the kit, but when the day was over, I had a washer/dryer. That night we noticed the dryer was making a very loud sound upon rotating. Like something was winding up/grinding. So much so you could hear it through the door and into our bedroom. We call to see what our options are, and they suggest we pay for a repairman, or get a new unit since we’re still within our warranty date. So, we just go with a new unit. The problem is our current model is on backorder for 2 months. They suggest a sub model instead. Ok, fine. How long will that take? About a week. So we live with this for a week.

Receive no call, so we call them. Oh, they messed up your order so they had to cancel it. They re-order it. Pushes it back a week. We get a call that the delivery is cancelled this time, with no reason. So we call, again... “This is the wrong dryer. They switched it to where you were getting the one on back order, sorry. I have no idea why they (or we in this case GE) would do that.”

So this pushes it back again, and the soonest they have for delivery now is on a Tuesday. I’ll be at work and so will my girlfriend. I ask my dad if he can come, taking precaution because of COVID, and he obliges. Hopefully this will all be over after this. I should’ve known better. “Nope, they don’t have any orders in here to stack the washer and dryer, just to deliver it. “We were supposed to remove one too? We can’t just do that, we’ll be liable for all of it. GE should’ve put an order in.” Ridiculous.

While I’m trying to limit foot traffic in my home GE is increasing it through incompetence. I have a faulty gas dryer. One that I’m just trying to replace so my home doesn't explode and I can have dry clothes. We call GE. After another wonderful experience with the customer service team that takes a little over 45 min to an hour (average every time), they say they will fix the issue and deliver it next week. Fast forward to today. “This dryer is not compatible with your washer sir.” He’s right. You can clearly see that the stacking kit will not align. You’ve got to be kidding me. Something we’ve made clear to them multiple times on every “call" is that we have the units stacked. If you’re going to give us a sub model it HAS to be compatible.

Now I have a dryer on my floor that I can’t get back into place myself, an infuriated girlfriend, and a confused/disappointed delivery man. I call and after being on hold for 40 minutes get told that “they” screwed up our order again, and that “they don’t know why they would’ve ordered that model as it’s not compatible.” I feel like I’m in a twilight zone episode titled “Customer Service Hell. Stories from the GE service department.” Now, “Kat” the highest returns/service rep that I could talk to told me (very snarkingly) that I accept the lesser model that “is compatible,” or not. She said I could call to discuss some small form of reimbursement after, if I even “qualify for it.” Seriously the worst customer service I’ve ever had with any device ever.

You can google search my name and look at my history. I’ve never left a “review,” or “complaint” ever in my life for any product or service. I’m not that type of person. This is it though. The camel that broke my back. Considering I will never touch another product of theirs in my life, I figure the least I can do is warn others negotiating doing the same.

The button does not work at all and the repair man that came told me GE disabled this feature. The only way you can get half a tub of water is to put it on bulky which helps but then the spin is slow and your clothes take longer to dry because they are so wet still. The agitator is so weak it will not pull the clothes down and some remain dry during the wash. I put in 2 single sheets to wash and I have pictures to prove at the end there were still dry spots. Don’t buy this. On another note the nice man at Canadian appliance that sold me this set said if I had any problems to call warranty line and not the store. Now I wonder what he knew that I didn’t. We ordered the GE top load washer because we wanted the center agitation. I’m so disappointed in this machine; GTW335. It was not advertised as a high efficiency machine and it does not put enough water to clean the clothes. I have washed 4 loads and have had to babysit it because it has gotten off balanced every time. Needless to say we are returning it and looking elsewhere for a machine that actually works! I wouldn’t waste your time on this machine!

Nothing but regrets! I don't have much time to write reviews, but the fact that I have to live with this machine for years to come, makes me want to drop off this machine at the entrance of GE and never look back! I wish I could download the video for other consumers to be aware! I miss my old machine and I am sure GE made a great trade by taking my old quiet and functional machine over this piece of crap that does not clean my clothing, moves, shakes, rattles and makes horrific and extremely loud noise on almost every cycle!!! Had technicians coming over on 4 different visits to fix many issues while unit was still under warranty. I was told at one point that I was better off requesting a replacement and yet, he did not write it on his report thus customer service simply closed the case and considered all problems solved. Well...PROBLEMS ARE NOT SOLVED and WILL NEVER BE until I replace this unit!

I exchanged SEVERAL messages with customer support while unit was still under warranty and explained problem not solved and yet, all pleads ignored. Note: It seems as this site does not give an option to download the video showing proof of how the unit performs. If needed, I can provide one or many! Wish there was a department that could assist consumers with this type of issues. Shame on you GE!

I bought a brand new GE washing machine after my very old machine died after 20 years. I absolutely hate this new machine and makes doing laundry an even more unpleasant task than usual. For one I cannot stand that you cannot open the lid while the machine is on and if you do have to stop it it takes a very long time to stop before you can finally open the lid.

The most frustrating aspect of this machine is if the clothes are not balanced perfectly it makes a huge repeating bumping noise until you take the 2 to 4 times it takes to rebalance the clothes. No matter how level my washing machine is it does not matter. For such a large basin I find that I can only fill it about a quarter of the way or the machine has a lot of difficulty working properly. It is made of flimsy metal. Within a month of owning the corresponding dryer the top dented from the pressure of a fairly light laundry basket. I do not recommend any GE products. They are shoddy and cheap and I doubt these things will even last a year before they break down.

Guarantee Or Warranty Issues. Bought a new GE washing machine. After three months it stopped spinning. A GE REPAIRMAN CAME FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES, DECLARED IT FIXED, BUT IT WAS NOT. GE washer purchased 4/29/2019. It never worked correctly on bulk detergent dispenser. After three months it stopped spinning out water and clothes smelled terrible. Lowes sent a loaner for me because we couldn't get service in a timely manner. The repairman declared it fixed, but it wasn't. Someone came out 4 times, but the clothes came out grimy and with dirty streaks. GE said they would not try anymore because they said it was working as designed. Lowes wouldn't refund me for this "Lemon" because it was out of the 30-day return period but still within manufacturer's warranty. I argued with Lowes Headquarters, but they said it was my problem and they would not help me.

Finally, out of desperation, I purchased a Kenmore washer from Sears and it was delivered on September 13, the Friday before my sick husband went in the hospital with two massive subdural hematomas and subsequently died three weeks later. He was on home hospice and a washer was essential to keep him clean. The Sears machine has been great. Lowes and GE have been evil and selfish. I bought a lemon washing machine and they refused to refund or replace it, even though my extended warranty said "fix it fast or replaced free. "Their "policy" is you must return something within 30 days and after that it is under manufacturer's warranty for a year. The technicians they sent had bad attitudes and wouldn't even try to help me.

I am now a widow after a grueling, month long ordeal taking care of a dying man. They have no compassion for my dilemma, but my personal problems aside, they sold me a bad machine which broke after only three months. The GE "repairman" did not properly diagnose the problem and I was forced to buy another washing machine because GE would not stand behind their warranty, and Lowes would not help me either. Their idea of testing is to put it on a speed wash, but that doesn't illustrate the lack of cleaning by a defective machine. Last night I filed a complaint with the BBB against GE (I filed one on Lowes too, but they brushed me off as an irritant.).

11/20/2019 I received a call from Wendy ** from the Executive Offices of GE Appliances in Louisville, Kentucky in response to my BBB complaint. She says they will not refund my money because the “technician” says there is nothing wrong with the machine. She says it is probably my well water that is causing the problem, even though I told her I have a water softener system and a whole-house filtration system. I said that they only tested it on a “speed wash” and they couldn’t tell what the clothes were like after a full wash. She said “The technicians don’t have TIME to spend two hours waiting for a load of clothes to wash.” Apparently, it is my word against his and HE is the one they believe.

I have lived here 24 years and never had a problem with my water. Because GE only had one technician in my area, Lowes loaned me a Maytag for a month, which worked beautifully. I finally became desperate and bought a Kenmore from Sears. It works perfectly. All I want is a refund and to see GE and Lowes in my rear view mirror.

The repairman has been out 6 times, replacing everything possible but yet.... TODAY, it still won't spin/wash correctly. HE detergent residue left in the comforter ended up washing it twice. A load that should take 1:06, takes twice as long because the machine keeps trying to rebalance load and adds time back on the display. This has been the WoRST experience, what does it take to get this remedied??? DONT BUY GE - unless you are up for many, many calls without a permanent solution.

My husband and I purchased a brand new GE washer when we moved into our new house. It has been unreliable to say the least. It has a one years manufacturer's warranty, and 8 months in and it has broken AGAIN. The last time it was broken, it took them over 4 weeks to fix it because they were waiting on a part. This time, I asked to schedule a repair on a Saturday, because my husband and I both work full time. They gave us an 8-5 window for Saturday, and we waited. About 2:00, I tried to call the number for the repair company to get an update. The number was disconnected. Upon further research, the company's site said it no longer operated in Michigan. When I called GE, the extremely rude customer sales rep told me the appointment was for sure confirmed and I should just wait.

Well, I waited for the whole 9 hour window and no one showed up. I wasted the entire day and still have a broken washer. I told GE that I believe I got a lemon, and I would just like the washer replaced. They don't seem to care and in the meantime, I have to cart my family's laundry all over town because my expensive washer does not work yet again. It has been such a hassle and I have spent hours and hours on the phone with GE and Home Depot trying to get this resolved. They bat me back and forth between each other, and no one will fix the problem or replace the washer. Terrible product, terrible customer service. I think they are just stringing me along until the manufacturer's warranty is up and I will be stuck with the lemon of a washer and all the repairs that come with it.

This GE Hydrowave washing machine is THE WORST appliance imaginable! Supposedly, it has a "Deep Fill" option. Deep fill is NEVER even HALFway to the top. I try to get more water by waiting to put the clothes in after the machine fills, but then it doesn't put in enough for the rinse cycle. Also, even on "Delicate" cycle, it agitates frantically. What part of "delicate" does it not understand? I have literally had to carry gallons of water filled in the sink to add to the washer in order to wash a blanket or pillows. Why even make a full-sized machine if there is NO WAY to get it to fill with water? The result - I have to wash a few items at a time and do 2-3 times as many loads as should be necessary.

Also, after adding water to the wash, the machine will not put enough water for the rinse either, so I have to monitor it and add water AGAIN! Even with very little soap, there is still a soap residue on the clothes after they are "clean" and sometimes I have to do a second rinse. This is the WORST washing machine I've ever used! It's only a couple of years old but we are fed up with it and considering replacing it, although are afraid will end up with another lemon...we are never, ever buying anything GE again!

We bought a brand-new matching front loader washer and dryer in January 2017. Within the first year, we noticed that our clothes were starting to smell. It wasn’t until months later that we put it together. The problem was the washer. Our extended warranty company would not do anything because the washer worked, and they do not cover mold. We contacted GE, who after much hesitation sent out their service technician. Bear in mind, that we had thrown out hundreds of dollars in clothes before we know what was wrong. Our clothing smelled awful!

The service technician came out, he stated that this is a common problem. That owners were not properly maintaining their washers. It is a sad affair when you must have a maintenance program for an appliance. We reviewed what he, the service technician said that we needed to do. And for the most part, we were doing what he said. Dialogue with GE continued. This all happened from the latter part of 2018, until they GE, agreed to replace all the hoses, gaskets and the pump. This was the recommendation of their own service technician! GE supplied the parts; we paid the labor of $151.66.

At this point the washer should be under their warranty, as they said that this should solve the problem. It did, for about 2 months. The same smell returned, we contacted GE. They offered to give us a nominal discount if we bought a new GE washer. Really… Didn’t we just buy a new washer 2 years ago? We pushed for GE to do more; GE in turn shut us out. They do not respond to our emails, and if we call, our numbers go straight to the service department to schedule for a pay service call. Yes, we have the emails and the paid receipt. JK

The standard answer after plugging in their computer is that there’s nothing wrong with the machine because the last 10 washes were completed. Of course the computer doesn’t factor in that I had stopped the machine to reposition the load each time, so I’m stuck with a lousy machine that I have to constantly shut off, reposition the load and pray. By the way this machine does not let you know when the load is finished. Buyer Beware. I had to look for a technician, call GE with part #, they would then send part to me and the tech would have to come back to fix. I could not find a repairman that would do it so after a week of hassle, they said the model # and serial # did not match so I had to take a pic of it and send it to them. Trying to shorten story... hassle for weeks, sent a new dryer. New dryer is okay, but I am now seeing black grease marks on edges of pillow cases, sheets, so I think it's from the dryer. Washer is the worst I have ever had. Model #GTW680BSJWS does not clean the clothes. Very little water and it sprays out so lightly is practically drips out. Clothes after washing often have lint, dog hair, detergent residue on them and wrinkled.

Also, a few times with liquid detergent stains on our t-shirts. I am a clean person, I clean my washer, and follow the directions. Have tried multiple detergents, and all different settings and the clothes come out dingy, dirty, stains are not removed. No agitator and a top load with glass lid so I am able to see how it works. When it agitates, it barely moves the clothes back and forth, and hardly any water. I have tried small loads and large, but it does not matter as even my whites in a small load do not come clean. I have never been so disappointed and I am just stunned at such a poor design. I'm sure nothing will be done, but I just put in a complaint to see if someone can help me. I just had it serviced AGAIN today and the GE tech replaced the Inverter Machine Control Board and drain pump since it was leaking liquid. After he left, I put a load of 5 towels in and 1 hour and 45 minutes later the machine shut itself off and towels still soaking wet. The dryer (GFDR48SEF7RR) caught fire because of a faulty circuit board. It was smoking. Thank goodness we were home. I have pictures and kept the burnt circuit board as reference. The spin cycle tangles clothes so bad that even after putting in the dryer they still have wrinkles. You will definitely be doing more ironing. Plus the water sucks out from the bottom and it is fraying a lot of the clothes. This is where you will be spending a lot more money buying clothes because it will ruin them. Also if you do blankets or even sheets it becomes unbalanced and will walk itself right out of your laundry room and literally right through the door. If I had to do over this would not be my washer. I've given myself almost six months to try and find things to appreciate with my brand new GE Deep Fill High Efficiency Turbo washing machine, model GTW460ASJ9WW. Unfortunately, I'm at a loss and regret the day I purchased it. Why do I hate it? Let me count the ways!

    1. It will not provide enough water to wash anything but a small load of clothes. What was once one super large load for my old GE machine has to be accomplished in three "super" loads for my new machine. Even then, clothes come out of the wash with dirty lint adhering to the folds. The drum is large and roomy causing you to believe it can handle a regular large load. Alas. It is a lie. Even the owner's reference guide claims there are three water levels with the highest showing the water raising to the top of the agitator. Lies. The "Deep Fill" option does little if anything to address the problem.

    2. You have to program your cycle upfront and cannot change it midstream without starting the entire cycle over again. My old machine allowed me to easily back-up and repeat one individual cycle of rinse or spin without having to go through the entire wash cycle once again.

    3. I know I'm paying extra money for unnecessary bells and whistles. Does one really need your machine to play you a song when it begins the wash cycle and when it ends? How in the world did I figure out my washing machine was starting and ending the wash cycle for the previous 40+ years I've been doing laundry? I know if the computer chip malfunctions, the repair cost for these machines will be stupidly high.

    4. It has trouble remaining balanced when washing heavier items like blankets and mattress pads. The machine practically becomes a walking monster, threatening to charge out the door and quit its awful job!

In summary, stay away from this machine. I wish I had my old machine. Grandma's wringer washer worked better than this one!

I don't know who changes everything to make things "better" but this washer, and most brands from what my friends have suggested, are worse than ever. This washer will NOT spin things such as bath rugs or a blanket or other things even on heavy duty or bulky setting. I have had to run several cycles to luck up on one that actually spins so that it isn't so heavy and dripping with water and so heavy that you can't even lift it out of the tub!!! It has happened over and over!!!

I have run several loads, not even a full load, and put the setting on deep fill, and when I pull my clothes out, (which I just did, thus this review that is overdue from the week I first got it 3 yrs. ago and $650) and places on the clothes are as dry as a bone :(. Even deep fill won't wash your clothes. I hate this washer! And if you want to add something, the darn lid locks so you have to pause and wait until it decides to unlock to add. I like to add my powder detergent after the water is in the tub so you have to babysit it until that happens, otherwise the detergent cakes on the side of the tub and there it sits, wash after wash unless by chance the waterline HAPPENS to reach that level. Bottom line.... Do not buy this washer.... You will want your old one back even if it is broken. We had a refrigerator by GE that we bought in 1979 and it lasted for about 25 years and we loved it so much. Wish we had loved this purchase that much.

I have had this washer just over a year. Why you shouldn't buy this model: It takes forever to wash a load. It stops constantly to "check" the water level. It is loud. My home office is right beside the laundry room - has been for years. It is loud for every cycle. The clothes come out a tangled mess. Socks in sleeves and wadded all together. Everything needs ironed. The clothes come out with soap on them. (We put soap in 1st and add extra water.) I can't open the lid without it stopping the washer and having to restart it. It has a musty smell when not in use. I have run vinegar through the lines and empty loads, in 30+ years- I have never smelled stale water from the washer.

My advice to anyone... Do NOT ever, EVER buy a GE washer. It's garbage. I bought a GTW485AJS. It puts almost NO water in the basket, and the agitator cranks on nothing by damp clothing, literally SHREDDING the stuff because there is hardly any water. The "rinse" is just a spin while spraying water. All my older (classic) washers did that too, it's an efficient way to rinse the clothing. But this thing spins the clothes hard against the barrel, then sprays DOWN THE AGITATOR. So all the spray water missed the clothing, and goes down the drain. In other words it's actually WASTING THE WATER.

For 60+ years, washer manufacturers made machines that would rinse correctly. But suddenly GE is loaded with incompetent engineers who can't design a quality unit... After two tears of complaining, and them sending third party service people out to look at it, I gave up. All the third party service people EVER told me was "Yeah, everyone is complaining about these. That's just the way they are."

I bought this washing machine last year and have been miserable with this machine ever since! The worst feature of this machine is that the clothes come out terribly wrinkled! You will have to iron everything including sheets, towels, and clothing. The sheets are so wrinkled beyond belief! Also, the clothes do not get completely wet while being washed and some of the clothes are still partly dry from when you put them in. ALso, when washing towels or sheets, they shift to one side which causes the washer to "walk out" from the wall and you will have to push the washer back against the wall because it has come away from the wall by 2 feet. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK unless you LOVE to iron!

I did not get this lemon back to Lowe’s in 30 days, my bad, thought extended warranty covered me there, it does not. Lowe's fail to warn me of this detail in VERY FINE PRINT. TRIED TO USE THIS MACHINE 6 times at our cabin, it failed miserably all six times. In essence, use the use the check system of what it is SUPPOSED TO DO, and then check off what it DID NOT DO, WHICH WAS ALL OF THE ABOVE. NOW, this is a HE Machine mind you.

Tried to return this item, but no, I had to have it checked out before I could replace it with another lemon. I did have it checked out, techs said this just the way it worked!!! Which is pure BS WHEN YOU SPEND THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR A TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE appliance. What happened to the old type of machines where it filled with water to cover the clothes, and got them clean, it rinsed all the soap out, it spun your clothes dry. Voila!

So now I am at a crossroad with no really good option. Arrived at a solution, going to Salvation Army and DONATE THIS DAMNED THING, surely the Lord won’t hold it against me since I did not lie about it like GE did to me. I only said I did not like it, and was not going to use it. And that is not a lie. Kudos here is that I have a receipt, and can deduct it off of 2019 tax write off.

FYI BUY A Speed Queen, even if you have to finance it, it will pay you back 10 fold. Washers are guaranteed for 15 years, dryers for 25. I have them in my home. Buy LW 432Sp115Tw01, they changed the way these work in 2019. Dont buy those, you want the 2017 model, for a good reason. THEY WORK and without sensors, old fashioned type.

If this was on display on the store it definitely would not sell. It sounds like something is loudly rubbing and will wear something. I ended up purchasing a service contract (which I rarely buy) from the repairman as I thought I would probably need it as this sound seems wearing. I've always been pleased with GE appliances and we have the profile micro, dishwasher and glass top stove but I will never buy GE again as I don't believe this noise is in all their washers as the technician said. I wish I had kept the washer I had before this one. I bought the pair of GE Profile series washer and dryer. I have never had a problem with the dryer but the washing machine is a different story. It sounded like an airplane when it was running from day one. It does not have the regular type agitator. This one is suppose to save on water but NEVER puts enough water to wash the clothes. I always have to add water from a pitcher I keep in the stationary tub in the utility room.

In order to start the washer there is a little button on the panel. You almost need to use your knuckle to push it in to start it. This button had to be replaced twice since I had it. This washer right now sounds like it is dying - my opinion is that it is straining to run because of the low water level it puts in. I want to buy a new washer but the cost of a new decent one has held me back and also this one is rusting out on the top where you put the bleach in. I never had one that did this either. I will not buy another one without the regular agitator - I hope they still have them available. No more GE washers for me.

Approximately a few months after warranty on dryer timer went. Of course nothing would be. It is the most expensive part to replace. $250- not elect not heat up. Washer is great. I can’t believe the repairs will cost 1/2 the price of dryer.

To me this unacceptable. Will never buy GE product again. Very sad. The quality of everything is so poor. Everyone I spoke to said you're forced to buy warranties, nothing is good quality, even much more expensive appliances. I guess I should buy older appliances that will last last for years. We have a brand new GE washing machine that was installed September 2018. It is Feb 2019 and we are on our SECOND repair call THIS MONTH. 2/1/2018 they sent someone out to repair the machine because it dragged a blanket down into the drain area of the machine. I never knew this was possible but there we were. Of course CS does not care and I have to wait days to get someone out. (Side note, the dryer also had to be repaired at that time for faulty start button).

Now on 2/22/2019 the same washing machine stopped after the wash cycle, failed to continue to rinse and spin and turned off. It was at this time that we discovered a horrible burning smell coming from the machine and that the tub has filled with BLACK water. Yes this means an entire load of clothes has been turned black and is sitting in black water. We unplugged the machine, checked for fires and started our odyssey of trying to get GE to actually care.

Since it is the weekend no one seems to think this is an emergency worth anyone's time or attention. Of course we can get a service call on Monday afternoon - the last available service call for a few weeks BTW. When we owned a Maytag we had service within the day EVEN ON WEEKENDS. We did not choose GE. They came with a new home we had built. And I think I can say that I do not think I will ever buy GE products again and may even set this one by the curb with "Ask me about my GE washing machine" on it and buy something else.

The low water level, which is not adjustable, does not move the clothing around enough for a good washing for stained items. I found the items washed didn’t rinse enough, so everything I wash has to have an extra rinse. I do use the proper detergent for these machines and measure accurately. I love the hand wash cycle on this washer and use it regularly. I have had this washer for almost 11 years and have never needed any service. I will buy GE again. Then you have to open the top/faceplate/control panel where there is a clear tube on the left. Unhook tube, BLOW into tube and it might work if you start a new wash cycle. Call GE to order the part connected to tube because that’s what’s bad, they REFUSE to help. Want to send a tech at $90 per hour. Won’t tell you part number. Won’t stand behind warranty.

All the dial choices make you think you’ll have choices for the amount of water for your load. NOT! With all settings - except “Bulky” the machine fills with 4 to 6 inches of water. With “Bulky” it fills almost to the top. So... conserving water is a laugh - unless you only wash a couple items - in 4 inches of water. The only “go around” I’ve found is to start with the “Bulky” setting, stand & wait ‘til it fills to desired level then pause machine, change to any other setting, then I un-pause, it’ll wash at that level. Then - during the rinse cycle- do the same - pause - switch to “Bulky” wait for desired water level to fill - pause- switch to another cycle - un-pause. How convenient is that!

This is not a great machine for anyone washing more than some socks & shirts. If the idea is to save water- then they’re fooling no-one- extra loads to complete your laundry or completely filling the machine each time is not efficient - for the user anyway. The one positive feature I can offer is it spins dry the clothes very well - not using the dryer for very long - that’s a plus.

They advised they had designed the washers to spin at 800 revolutions per minute instead of 400 as their method of spinning more water out of clothes. This increase in the RPMs is primarily responsible for the problem. Prior to this purchase I had never even contacted a Washer Mfg for any problems. It dances all over the floor, no matter whether it's loaded with a lot of clothes or a few. It sounds like a helicopter taking off when it goes into the spin cycle.

So I bought the GE washer from Lowe's in April 2018. I've had 3 control panels replaced. Now, 3rd party GE authorized repair dealers refuse to come back. They are telling me that GE tech line is telling them the machine is working? No one has been here over the current problems. The Bulky, Jean's and activewear settings are dead, will not work and now the machine will fill with cold water only. I'm starting to think they are afraid of losing their GE contract. What's far worse is GE tech line making false statements, because no one has been here for these recent problems. I don't know what game GE is playing at but as far as I'm concerned these 3rd party companies nor GE will get away with it! The washer worked for the first 5 months. Now every time I turn around it's something else. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office for refusal to make a service call on a washer that is under warranty, and for making false statements.

Updated on 03/31/2019: Okay, back in January, I was told that they would send me a $50 check for my troubles. Tomorrow will be April 1 and still no check. I have responded to their original email (Teresa at customer service) and they have sent an auto-response telling me that a representative will get back to me soon. I've gotten three of these and yet, no one ever contacts me. Yeah...no check. So, not only is the product a large piece of garbage, but Customer Service will also lie to you by making promises and not fulfilling them. I don't care about the $50 but not it's a matter of principle. I won't let this go. GE... You really do suck.

Original Review: The washer, a G/E, purchased in June of 2017, was spewing oil into the tub during the cycles. We noticed it last month (Dec. 2018) but thought that maybe it was just something mixed in with the laundry. Nope. We called G/E yesterday and she immediately said: "Oh, that sounds like the bearings, we get a lot of calls about that." She then said, "Unfortunately, your washer is out of warranty." Wait! It's only 18 months old, the bearings are shot and G/E knows about this but yet there is no recall? Nope! So, $99 for the service call plus parts and labor so probably around $400 to get it fixed.

On January 10, I received a call from Customer Service who told me that the person I spoke with would get more training. She also sent me an e-mail with a synopsis of our conversation: "Thank you for contacting GE Appliances with your concerns. I am with Consumer Relations and am happy to help you with your washer. I know that I too would feel upset if my 18-month-old washer was having issues. It was nice speaking with you. I sincerely regret that you already replaced the unit due to poor customer service.

Because we at GE Appliances do understand your frustration, I am empowered to send you a $50 check for lunch on GE Appliances. Please verify your mailing address and I can get that submitted. You stated that you still have the current unit. If you choose to have it repaired and sell it, we will still cover the cost of parts. You would be responsible for the home call fee and all labor. The tech would give you labor pricing when he has examined the unit." So... they are willing to provide this low-cost part but I still have to pay for the service call, diagnostics, and the repair. Yeah, no thanks. Amazing how they think a check for $50 and a $20 part would resolve the problem. They need to do a recall!

We bought this washer 2 years ago. It started running at night with the pump and motor grinding away. My wife woke up and said "it's hailing outside". Lucky we were home to shut it off. No lights on the panel, no functions working, the only way to stop it was to unplug it. Have now read many reports of the same problem which had a recall of 200,000 units several years before. But the new models don't have any recall for the same problem. The motherboard cost $195.00 alone with no labor or service call! What a disappointing performance by what I thought was a reputable company. And if it is fixed, how long will the next board last?

I bought this 3 years ago. It had good reviews and agitator and top load. Well you can't even re-rinse something without choosing a cycle. It is loud and no matter how many adjustments when it spins it moves way too much. I've had issues with sediment build up in a valve/filter. Had plumber put filter on water pump. The build-up would cause minimal cold water to come into washer. Once cleaned it's fine. I do believe this may be the reason it began dripping after the laundry done. The valve/filter needed to be replaced. The final issue, the washer began running on its own... sounded just like going through cycle with NO water. Fortunately, I was home that day. What if I had been away, that could have burnt it up, caused a fire. Regardless there is issue with the computer 'motherboard' and the repairs will cost more than a new washer.

Turns out without warning, my GE washer tore itself apart. The frame is bent. It turned itself sideways, ripped out hoses and drainage pipes and poured water all over as well as pieces of the washer. Prior to this, it ran quietly, contacted GE and got no response, contacted Lowe's Service Advantage. Am supposed to have visit with repair man 01/04/2019 Friday. Did send jpeg of serial number to Fast Appliance repair of Reading, PA as well as jpeg of the destroyed machine. Will let you know how we fare. Hopefully better than everyone else here. I have had service contract for over thirty years and they changed from GE to Assurant and stated that nothing changed except the name, never sending any changes in writing. Well today I called and asked and was told the same thing.

My problem is that Ervin, Supervisor tells me that because the washing machine they gave me rusted (all inside behind the broken bowl) and bowl is broken which myself as a customer would have no knowledge of. In essence they are saying they will not do anything for me, when the service contract I have had all these years says if they cannot repair it they will replace it. I have all of these new parts down in my basement they ordered and would not take because the screws are too rusty for them to get out without breaking other rusty parts. Never again will I buy a GE product because they do not stand behind them. HOW IS THE CUSTOMER SUPPOSE TO KNOW ABOUT THE BACK OF THE INSIDE OF YOUR PRODUCT RUSTING.

WE bought a brand new GE washer in March, 2017. I fell in love with it. It dropped our water bill dramatically and we could do 3 loads of laundry in one sitting. Unfortunately, this week, November 2018, we have had 2 repair come over to look at our washer. It started with a lid-lock issue. A simple programming adjustment and we're back on track. Now we are onto a water valve issue and lastly, replacing the control panel. The washer fills part way and stops, fills over the top and doesn't start, gets off balance almost pulling the plugs out of the wall, and collects mildew. Regardless of monthly washings (I followed the cleaning instructions to the letter "T") I can never get rid of the smell.

Because the salesman at KNIE never mentioned (nor offered) an extended warranty, we are out of luck. The cost to repair all of this for 1 1/2 year-old washer will run us over 500$. Not far from full price of paying for the new washer. KNIE told us "no warranty, you pay". GE customer service told us pretty much the same. We were told this was a "known issue" with the appliance. Why did nobody inform on of this? Needless to say, we are not paying that much money for a repair when in another year or two we will be in the same position. DO NOT BUY GE.

I called to confirm the appt with Customer Service and waited for the next week. Appt day rolls around and nobody shows up. I call customer service to find out what’s going on and customer service proceeds to tell me that they had called me earlier in the week to inform me that the part that they ordered was not available. This is an outright lie. Nobody ever called. And it gets even better from there, now they tell me the part will not be available until December 3rd. This means I will be out of a washer for almost a month.

Each person you talk to gives a different story, most all of the customer service reps act like you’re putting them out, and the manager “Chris” has the same attitude! The only thing he did do was ask for a replacement machine but for some reason won’t know if this can be done until tomorrow. This has been a living nightmare. God only knows what’s going to happen to the matching dryer and side by side refrigerator I bought at the same time. I wish I never bought a GE. Think twice before buying one yourself. New GE Washing Machine, purchased in February 2018 (less than 9 months in service) was causing electrical surges in my home. Had a dedicated electrical outlet. GE Technicians responded 2 times to my request for repair and blamed everything on me. I had to download the O&M Manuals & wiring diagrams from the open web since GE Repair did not have them. The technicians claimed did not have available nor did the corporate have. I questioned how they can service washing machines and not have access to O&M Manuals. Since I am a professional engineer and reviewed the diagrams, I questioned the technicians about their testing equipment and they had became belligerent and left my home while failing to acknowledge that the agitator cycle was in fact causing surges in my home.

After numerous visits to the store where the machine was purchased, the store managers agreed to take back the machine and I purchased an LG (approx.$980) from the store. I paid approx. $400 more for the LG. The new LG works perfectly with no electrical surges. It appears that GE has not be willing to acknowledge design flaws in the VFD motor drives and/or the clutch in the drive.

After 2 months of use my daughter noticed what looked like spots of rust all around the top 3 inches of the stainless steel washer tub. I called for service and the opinion of the GE Service person was that it was mold, not rust. He said GE would not cover rust anyway and "that they don't make 'em like they used to." Mind you, I have only had this unit for 2 months. I called Home Depot where I purchased it and explained I was not happy and that GE was not going to do anything. In addition I also discovered I was sold a 2014 model! I found this out when they could not find the serial number for my service call. No one will address this situation, I just want them to replace the entire unit. I will never purchase another GE appliance or any major appliance from Home Depot.

    Update:

I must say that Eva from the Home Depot Service Plan center has been totally amazing, going above and beyond! She has been working with me on this issue since October. Please note that my service plan does not kick in for 12 months after I’ve had the machine, GE should be taking care of any repairs at this time. Although we have not come to a resolution yet the only offer from GE is to (1) Sell me a new washtub at a discounted price. My Service Plan will then kick in, as a courtesy, and reimburse me for the wash tub and pay for the service call. Or (2) GE will sell me a new machine at a discounted price. This would replace the ‘old’ unit they sold me in July that is rusted. Seriously!?!? I simply want the machine that I purchased, a current model, without rust. I shouldn’t have to repair a machine that was given to me with rust on it or purchase a new machine that I should have gotten in the first place! Am I the only one who sees the total disregard for customer service here? GE has totally dropped the ball on this. I really don’t know where to go from here. I thought so much more of GE then this, not anymore.

According to Google, the average washing machine lasts 10 to 14 years. That is what we were planning on when we bought the GE top loader washer. We figured the GE brand was a good one and the machine would live up to its heritage. Not so. The first week the machine dumped water all over our floor and ruined a room full of carpet (which GE did replace; we simply had the hassle of having workmen in our house for a few days).

Six years later the machine started putting black streaks on our clothes when they were washed. The repairman said that the transmission was broken and had to be replaced in the washer. That would cost $400 for the repair (parts and labor). The repair company (which does not sell appliances) recommended that we buy a new washer rather than repair the GE. So much for our machine lasting 10 to 14 years. Needless to say, we will buy another washing machine and it won't be a GE. Neither will we be buying anything else from GE.

Last night we were watching tv when we heard a loud unfamiliar sound. Turns out that our washing machine just decided to turn itself on. Not completely, no water was pumping into the unit but the motor was in fact running. It would not turn off so I had to unplug it. I looked it up last night and found to my surprise that GE had to recall over 200 thousand GE Profile washers for this same problem and that they were concerned about fires. Of course those were GE Profile washers and my model is not included in that recall of a few years ago. So GE had to replace 200 thousand mother boards. What did they do with all those expensive defective mother boards?

Here's my question, I'm not accusing GE of doing anything unscrupulous but just raising the question. Would an American company who is now manufacturing their products in Mexico reuse expensive defective mother boards in a less expensive model. Because its less expensive is there no longer a fire concern? Is this not the same situation? I was told today that my unit which was installed on November 25 2016 less than 2 years ago is out of warranty. Apparently defective equipment is only covered for 12 months as well.

It sounds like I am running a small airport in my hallway, where the GE front-loading washer (from Lowe's, but I am sure it isn't their fault) about four years ago. An "energy saver" it says, but I have ZERO idea how that can even be possible. The dryer takes just as long as the washer and so an average wash and dry cycle takes just over FOUR HOURS total. My mom still has her 20+ year old Kenmore washer/dryer, and both work just fine, washing a full load and drying the same in under 1.5 hours total.

HOWEVER, the GE product is a pile of crap. We have had the repairman out several times -- close to a dozen -- even the home warranty folks, I have given up trying, and given up fearing for our lives every time we use this pile of junk! Expensive piece of excrement. I would NEVER recommend this product -- either the washer or the dryer. They look good, when not running -- so much so, that when contemplating a move out of state, we were going to leave the lot with the new buyers. Haier Group will sell you the same poor replacement parts at their cost and you will have to fit the bill for the $450 repair labor. Then the unit will fail again in 3 to 4 years because they use the same poorly made Chinese parts as replacements. The unit cost to repair is not worth the price. Now I see why GE is failing so bad. The Service rep came on Aug 27 (day 4 without a washer) and could not fix it. Said he had to get parts, either the brain or a pump needed to be replaced.

Authorized Appliance is the name of the company in Phoenix AZ who performs this service. I called Assurant on Sep 1 (day 8 without a washer) to find out the status. They said they could provide no info and we had to follow up with the local repair company "Authorized Appliance". On calling their number, they would not answer the phone and basically forced you to write them an email. In response to the email, they replied on Sep 4 (day 12 without a washer) "The parts are back ordered causing a delay. I have sent a request to the distributor to see if they have an ETA and I will call you once they respond". Then we got a call saying parts will be available end of Sep.

That meant we should plan on 30+ days without a washer. This is extremely poor service support in my mind. The problem lies with the GE company who are not providing adequate spares on parts that are obviously failing too often. So first a bad design, then poor availability of parts so customers basically will never come back. This is definitely the last GE appliance I have bought. No more GE poor quality and poor service products for me any more.

We loved the large stainless steel drum and seemed to have ample capacity for clothes. Everything seems to function well on it, no problem with the water level controls, albeit my wife insists on using the deep fill (highest setting) for even small loads. Then, we started noticing small holes in our tee shirts or other clothes. My wife thought it was cockroaches doing it.

But then she brought me some of our towels and brand new rugs where the machine shredded them along the edges and made a mess inside the washer. I checked the agitator in the drum and found the agitator fins are quite sharp. And there is just enough room under these fins for articles to get caught under. Aside from that, the washer works great. But, the cost of replacing clothes, towels, and rugs makes this an economic nightmare. Thus, a one star rating. Remember. This is me and my wife's clothing only being done. No work Rags whatsoever. That is why if you look it only it has one and a half star ratings and a lot of complaints. Our GE washer, model #GTW460ASJ6WW, needed repair. They first tried to walk me through re-setting the washer, but that didn't work and it needed to have a technician sent out to repair it. It was one month out of warranty, however, the very nice gentleman on the phone stated that since it was just one month out of warranty, they would send someone out 'no charge'. Some other companies wouldn't have done this one month out of warranty, so I think GE deserves a shout out.

From day one of trying to use my NEW washer, it has constantly bounced all over the place when attempting to spin at any time during the wash. Have tried to have it replaced due to it never working unless the load is so small that I could have hand washed them better or if there were no clothes in it at all. I have been told by customer relations that the machine has to be repaired four times before they can deem it irreparable and then and only then will they replace my new non-working machine. The repairman and technician from GE blamed the problem on how I loaded the clothes to an uneven floor. This is not the case as my second opinion repairman confirmed that these are of the issue.

I am regretting buying anything from GE. They will not work with you to quickly make sure you have a functioning appliance. The last two loads of clothes I attempted in this machine had to be wrung out by hand as the spin would not work correctly. If I had not been sitting babysitting the machine, it would have broke through the housing and damaged itself along with my home. Very disappointed that they will not work reasonably with you to replace the obviously defective machine.

The washer Tub Gear Set went out the same time the shocks failed - that was within 2 years of purchase. Cost more to repair than it was worth. As for the Dryer, it too failed with failing bearings and very poor build that made the gaskets fail. These things are built with the thinnest metal and are fabricated very poorly. Seriously, what pieces of crap. Buyer beware, I would highly suggest you look at another manufacturer's products as these will just make you very angry and wasting your money.

It's been 50 Days and GE has NOT fixed my Washer!!! At first I was thinking all these reviews cannot be real!? But then I quickly realized its True!!! I will make this review very simple (I give GE Negative Stars). I reached-out to GE because my washer was malfunctioning/NOT working. It took 1 Week to send a technician to my house... when he "tries to fix the washer" he tells me we need to order parts. Ok sooo that's what we agreed to do (at this point everything was going fine)... another week passes-by. Another tech was sent to my house and to my horror he tells me GE sent the wrong part(s)!! I then call the "Consumer Relations Dept." that is a JOKE... I was on hold for a LONG LONG time 40-50 minutes... Yes!! Sooo unprofessional.

Its July 20th and the parts still remains on Back-order!? REALLY... The Call center keeps telling me the parts are not available, just keep waiting! I been WAITING FOR more than a MONTH!!! They sent me a check for 50 bucks? What the hell! That's NOT enough to cover my dry-cleaner/washing expenses. This is such an inconvenience to me and my family!

Today I called and some lady basically told me. The part is NOT ready because of a warehouse delay?? (They keep saying the SAME thing over and over) I am sooo disappointed because I bought 5 GE products about a year-ago. I regret purchasing GE products! This has been a nightmare!!! I'm still in shock about the simple fact that GE call Center shows NO empathy, just careless about the whole issue. I normally do not do reviews like this... but this calls for a FULL Review. I even offered to pay extra money to help expedite the process or pick-up parts - anything I could do to help the process move-along. I been patient all this time... but now I am just ready to replace my Washer with another brand. I won't be purchasing any GE products. NEVER AGAIN!!! P.S Washer still broken... Parts still on Back-order.

Repairman told me it was because there was too much lint in the trap. Two days later same thing. Waited over a week for the guy to come back. He had to order parts. Took 4 WEEKS to get a repairman to my house to fix it. Then, about 8 weeks later, the washer goes - bouncing all over and not spinning out clothes - 2 weeks later (earliest apt that they had) guy comes - "you have 5 Errors on your machine - all regarding balance." Tells me he did "Update" that should have been done at the factory and that now it was fine - ONE WEEK LATER - same thing - unbalanced and dancing all over the place. Spent hours on the phone with both P.C. Richards and G.E., and multiple trips to the store - both parties refuse to replace machine. Insist I have to wait until it is deemed by them to be "unrepairable."

They tell me someone would be at my house yesterday between 2 and 5 P.M. Stayed home all day waiting. At 3 P.M. I get a call saying the repairman went home sick and that I would have to wait another 4 days for a repairman. Between the washer and dryer, both G.E. models, I have spent hours at the laundromat wasting time and money when I have brand new machines sitting in my kitchen. When I asked to have money taken off what I owed on the machines I was told the only thing they could do was give me a $50.00 gift card for P.C. Richards. Like I would ever buy ANYTHING from them again.

I have spent at least $80.00 at laundromat with new machines that don't work - I don't need anything from P.C Richards except the machines I already bought. GE and P.C. Richards have lost a 30-year customer - BUYER BEWARE!!! Don't buy ANYTHING GE!!! BTW, the girl at P.C. We called the warranty number and the repair person began the process of ordering the part. We got a call last week that the part won't be in until after August. That is, if I haven't decided to do something else (her words), like maybe just buy a new washer for instance? Not even one year, but the warranty is almost out.

GE dishwasher was our builder's install. Leaking water through the air dryer onto my hardwood floors. Failed repair twice by GE and they told us the first one didn't count and they needed a third visit to do the same thing instead of replacing it. I had it hauled out of here like the trash that it is and replaced with a unit that is made in America. Having these two experiences so closely together tells me that they know they build an inadequate product and they refuse to repair or order parts so they can do their business in bulk rather than loyalty. I am stuck with other GE appliances because of my builder, but I will never buy from them again.

He diagnosed it as faulty water valve intake. Had to order the part. Another repair person came 6/16/18 to repair the washer only to discover the first repair person misdiagnosed the problem. This guy said it's the main board and will have to order the part. I just found out last week the part is on back order and will not be available until 8/6/18. GE Customer Services has been no help. I had a service man (under the manufacturer's warranty) come to the house and he made some adjustment and stated that the shaking and the noise level is "normal". I complained again to GE and they sent another repairman who made some more 'adjustments'.

However, it is still very noisy towards the end of the spin cycle. Our previous washer (Kenmore) lasted 16 years and it was never as noisy. Furthermore, none of my friends that have washing machines state that the noise and the shaking of the drum is unusual. I have an extended warranty that lasts to July 2023, although I doubt that the machine lasts that long, and I am very reluctant to buy another GE product. I purchase this new washer GTW460ASJ8WW based on a GE Video and the sales persons claims that it could fill to the top of the holes in the tub. If the water level was lower than desired, "just press the deep fill button" for more water. It will fill up to the top of the holes in tub. It barely fills halfway in the tub! I put a normal large load of towels and half of the load doesn't even get wet! The towels are getting worn due to the friction & lack of water. They don't smell clean and feel dirty and rough on the skin like a towel that was never washed and used over and over again. I was told that is the way the NEW washer work.

I've asked other people that have other brands & they said the water does cover their towels. GE said they will charge me $100 to send a technician out if they find it is the way that the washer is suppose to function. Bottom line IT DOESN'T CLEAN MY TOWELS AND SHEETS! THAT IS WHAT A WASHER IS SUPPOSED TO DO. So if they tell me that is the way it is suppose to work they cover themselves and charge me $100 for a washer that doesn't clean. They are sending a technician out. I will keep you posted.

Updated on 04/25/2018: GE washer GTW460ASJ8WW - Following up from April 9th review. GE sent a tech guy who said the machine works as designed. DETAILS: The tech saw how little water entered the machine with a load of towels. He commented that it looked low with the water even after he hit DEEP FILL. After hooking up to his computer and calling someone at GE he said the machine worked as designed! I thought the design of a washer was to wash clothes to be CLEAN and not RIP UP my towels or wear out clothes! I told GE that I was not happy with this machine and they said I could get another model for about $427.00! They would not credit me for the washer I purchased. I will never do business with GE.

I wish I knew they sold this company to China and is the same brand now as Haier (Junk). I have asked others about their new washers and I was told Whirlpool was good. As far as the GE brand, all JUNK. My brother-in-law purchased a GE refrigerator for $2,000+ and it broke down in 3 years. The cost to fix was not worth it. He bought a Whirlpool. Our problem was that since we live in New Mexico and hang our laundry out to dry for free we were at fault. All we have to do is use a dryer with a lint filter. All worked well for about a year, then it began making terrible banging noises just as it would go to spin, so I would have to go and open it and position the clothes around the drum to get it to balance. Most of the time, I would end up removing clothes till almost nothing is in the machine, and then it MIGHT spin properly. It also fails to properly wash the clothes. It leaves stains on the clothes of dirt and detergent that has not been removed. In all the junk machines, I have ever used throughout my life this one is the worst offender. I know there is no warranty on it now, even though it has little use.

I always assumed the reason you bought a washing machine was to stop washing clothes by hand. This one is a good lemon in the corner. Before we spend $400 on repairs, we might like to review other new machines and consider throwing this one out the door if my husband cannot fix it. It is no wonder GE's share pricing is falling in the stock markets for the shoddy products they are selling people. This machine apparently has a mind of its own beyond the control of the user. User normally has to stop the machine for added clothes or bleach and I know full well the rules about holding the three second button to stop then re-pressing it to start again. Yet, sometimes it just wants to drain all the hot or cold water out when restarting although that is not desired. Such a waste and not environmentally friendly. I just want to fault the person(s) that developed the logic system for these machines.

I have my own degree in industrial controls technology and myself an expert after working 30 years in the field from servohydraulics to pneumatic logic design and troubleshooting as a leader and hands on worker. A user should be able to stop and start the machine at will, yet this is not possible. Please --- your logic designer is a failure. I would fire or retrain them. The shame is on the engineer that signed off on this unpredictable monster. I give the designer and engineer failing grades. GE should be ashamed to put this product out there in the public sphere. I've had this machine long enough to hate it and know it can't be returned but if GE can send me a schematic of the logic or updated logic board I will personally redesign it the way it should have been done in the first place. I find that if you leave it to the machine the clothes do not get cleaned. My only solution has been to add water to the washer from the sink in the kitchen. This is a very tedious, tiring, exasperating, infuriating chore for someone who is supposedly RETIRED. I am handicapped and it is very difficult to do normal everyday things. The Golden Years are not so Golden because of a company like "GE" that puts inferior products in Senior Citizen Apartments. Shame on you GE!!!

I previously posted a complaint about my GE washer. I contacted GE and they sent me a replacement main board at a very discounted price. I was able to install it myself and so far the washer is working great. I was very pleased with their service.

I purchased a GE washer model GTW460ASJ5WW in September 2016. The main board has gone out according to the repairman. I did not get the extended warranty so I had to pay $65 for him to check it. It will cost $200 for new board plus installation cost. This is ridiculous, a washer should last longer than 2 years. I will never purchase a GE appliance again.

I had to call three different times to get an appointment scheduled for when I could actually make it -- one person gave me a day that didn't work and told me to call again; the second said she scheduled an appointment but didn't; the third actually scheduled it. On the day of the appointment, I got a voicemail saying the technician was finishing up a job and would be at my place shortly. I called 2 hours later to learn that the technician didn't come because I hadn't answered the phone. (The message did not say I needed to call back to confirm.) I then spent an hour on the phone with Carly, a very nice and competent person in consumer affairs, who tried in vain to get me an appointment that same day (the technician said he couldn't fit me in, even though he was supposed to see me that day). Carly kindly offered to reimburse me for the costs of washing my clothes.

NO MORE GE. THEIR APPLIANCES ARE SUBSTANDARD. I HOPE THEIR HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT IS BETTER FOR OUR AMERICAN PATIENTS!!!!

I bought this dryer and it was leaking gas, and shutting off in mid cycle less than 2 weeks after I bought it. I spoke with GE and they suck!!! I told them the gas company red flagged the dryer for leaking gas. They set me up an appointment with a technician a week later. On the morning of my appointment the tech called me and said that I needed a specific part and it wasn't available for 3 weeks. I asked how could he know this without looking at my dryer and he said he just knew. I told him I still wanted him to come out and look at it and he said, "Ok," but never showed.

When I called GE and asked them about why he didn't show they started making excuses and saying he needed a certain meter and now he was rescheduled and couldn't get back out to me. I also asked them if he knew what part I needed without coming out why didn't they tell me this a week ago and order the part instead of scheduling an appointment a week later and then telling me this. Pretty much wasting another week and making me lose a day of work. I finally spoke to another person at GE and she told me to exchange the appliance where I bought it. I spoke with Home Depot and they said it wasn't their policy (which I knew) and GE knew. I explained that GE had told me to call you knowing that Depot wouldn't exchange it. I am now waiting to see if Home Depot is able to get a tech out to look at my GE dryer.

The incompetence GE showed me I would never recommend another product from them EVER. I'm not saying their products are inferior, but, GE's customer service is atrocious. I felt I was patient in waiting a week for a tech. But to get a call and tell me he won't be coming and he knows what's wrong with my dryer over the phone is ridiculous. The fact that I wasted a whole day sitting at home and took a day off work infuriated me even more. Then speaking with customer service after being on hold for over 15 minutes and them telling me that the tech is correct when the knew for a week what was wrong made things even worse. So buyer beware when you get a GE product. Remember you don't just buy the product you buy the service and in my opinion GE's customer service is horrible.

My husband purchased a G.E. washer and dryer for my 50th birthday and the washer is a lemon and dryer knobs are cheap. 4 repairs later and refusal to replace by Lowe's and G.E. on products still under warranty, I have decided they deserve 0 stars and will never buy their products again! Warranty is a joke also!

My wife bought this GE GTW330bmkww Washing Machine in April, 2017 and have had serious shaking/agitation noise and movement. It also drains and spins sporadically. We have had two service calls and the technician indicated that we need to load it full and run on a delicate cycle to try to minimize the way it operates. I would not recommend this product to anyone and will likely end up junking this one and getting something that works.

We purchased a top load model (#GTW460ASJ8WW) from Lowe's on December 31, 2017 and installed it the next day. It took a little getting used to, but we wanted a washer that we could manually set water levels. We have our own well, so water saving is not an issue. We managed to do four (4) loads of laundry before the machine stopped working. The fifth time we tried to use the machine it would simply pour water into the tub and drain it out. The tub cannot fill with water. We did all the troubleshooting and re-booting. Nothing worked. Worse, the "pause/stop" button function is dead. The only way to shut the machine off is to unplug it. This machine lasted 6 days. We wish we had seen the reviews on this site before buying. We are not going to bother with the warranty and trying to get it fixed as it seems that is just more wasted time.

We only have 14 days to return this lemon to Lowe's. The folks at our Lowe's are really nice. They offered to replace the unit - but why bother? If a new product from GE fails that fast, I want nothing to do with anything they make. From the other reviews on this site, our problem is not unique. Our old washer, a top loading GE from 2005 sits out back. It will be more cost-effective to have that machine rebuilt than to bother with anything made today. That old unit was a warrior.

In October, amid the recent losses of two family members, my washing machine stopped working. Since I knew I would be flying back and forth to Charleston, IL for funerals and estate matters, I opted to go for the "sure bet" HOME DEPOT for my appliance needs. I opened a credit account with them which offered 0% for 6 mos., one-year "hassle-free" returns, and purchased a GE GTW330ASK (for help) 2WW. Home Depot delivered and installed the washer and from the moment I pushed "play/pause" on this machine the LOUD onslaught of troubles began. Before 90 days were over, it had completely stopped working. To add insult to injury, I placed a call for an appointment for repair with Erica for Tuesday, January, 2. I had to wait weeks!

Two days later I received another call from GE service canceling my appointment and asking ME what was "wrong with my washing machine". NOT being a professional appliance repairman, I could only reply that it does NOT work. To which the dispatcher placed an order for "a part" based on what I said (it's almost laughable as I write this except that I lived it) and informed me that the technician could not come till "the part arrived" and rescheduled for January 5th. The infamous "part" arrived the following day and was met with my call to a GE dispatcher for a technician to come ASAP. I was given back my original appoint date (January 2) at a later hour.

Two, not one, technicians came to my home. They plugged in a laptop and said the hot water was never turned on. HOME DEPOT delivered and installed the machine and tested it before leaving. This could not be possible having done "white" loads in the machine and my habit of rinsing the soap I dispense from the cup I used. The water WAS HOT... I don't know what your tech was vaping in the truck. I could have scripted the rest.

Needless to say, "the part" was NOT the right part... HOW COULD IT BE based SOLELY on my assessment and not a professional FIRST. After spending what was at least 30 minutes the lead tech declared that it was something else and I would have wait again to order the part and then have the tech come back again. Weeks of waiting produced NOTHING. This morning, sick with a cold, I spent the entire morning doing load after load of laundry at the nearby laundromat having just spent $450 for a brand new washing machine. UNACCEPTABLE! I have absolutely NO CONFIDENCE in GE products much less the technicians they dispatch to service them. It's almost unfathomable to think that after spending $450 for a washing machine that it breaks in less than 90 days.

I will never buy another GE product, which is unfortunate because they used to make GREAT THINGS! I will be returning this machine today to the Davie Florida store nearby. I do not want this in my home another minute. My hope was that HOME DEPOT would take care of its customers, ME, and honor the "hassle-free" return. I do NOT wish to spend 2018 with GE technicians fixing new appliances. This is a travesty.

GE Profile Washing Machine (GTW680BSJ1WS) - Bought this washing machine back in Feb 2016, a couple months after owning it stopped spinning. Called GE and had a service tech come out and replace the main board and the sensor for the tub only after going back and forth. Meanwhile we were without a machine for almost 2 weeks. Now it's doing it again, and not spinning. Now I have to pay to get a 2 year old machine serviced. I would not recommend a GE washing machine at all and the customer service at GE is lacking. I ended up calling a local company directly and so far have received better service over the phone as GE was going to charge $100 just to have someone come out. For the price I paid 2 years ago I should not be having this issue, they need to have better parts, better warranties and way better customer service. Stay away from GE profile top loading washer machines, they aren't worth the hassle.

Purchased on May 17, 2017 from Lowe’s a large capacity, heavy duty GE washer with extended warranty. The washer continually malfunctions and goes off balance. It cannot handle any kind of load without being thrown off balance. The washer is barely 6 months old and the repairman came in today to service it said he had to “update the sensors“ and replace the lid lock. He promised the machine should work now if I keep it on second rinse for all loads despite the fact that it’s advertised as energy efficient. I just washed a second load which consisted of one full size flat sheet, fitted sheet, and two pillowcases and the machine went off-balance again. Horrible machine and substandard repair service. Extremely disappointed!
