WE bought a brand new GE washer in March, 2017. I fell in love with it. It dropped our water bill dramatically and we could do 3 loads of laundry in one sitting. Unfortunately, this week, November 2018, we have had 2 repair come over to look at our washer. It started with a lid-lock issue. A simple programming adjustment and we're back on track. Now we are onto a water valve issue and lastly, replacing the control panel. The washer fills part way and stops, fills over the top and doesn't start, gets off balance almost pulling the plugs out of the wall, and collects mildew. Regardless of monthly washings (I followed the cleaning instructions to the letter "T") I can never get rid of the smell.
Because the salesman at KNIE never mentioned (nor offered) an extended warranty, we are out of luck. The cost to repair all of this for 1 1/2 year-old washer will run us over 500$. Not far from full price of paying for the new washer. KNIE told us "no warranty, you pay". GE customer service told us pretty much the same. We were told this was a "known issue" with the appliance. Why did nobody inform on of this? Needless to say, we are not paying that much money for a repair when in another year or two we will be in the same position. DO NOT BUY GE.
I bought a GE refrigerator, dryer and washer (model GTD65GBSJWS) from Home Depot in March, 2018. Less than 8 months later the washer has stopped working. A GE service guy came out on November 8th and determined one of the electrical boards was bad. He said he’d be back the following Thursday between 8-12 am with the part to fix my machine. I called to confirm the appt with Customer Service and waited for the next week. Appt day rolls around and nobody shows up. I call customer service to find out what’s going on and customer service proceeds to tell me that they had called me earlier in the week to inform me that the part that they ordered was not available. This is an outright lie. Nobody ever called. And it gets even better from there, now they tell me the part will not be available until December 3rd. This means I will be out of a washer for almost a month.
Each person you talk to gives a different story, most all of the customer service reps act like you’re putting them out, and the manager “Chris” has the same attitude! The only thing he did do was ask for a replacement machine but for some reason won’t know if this can be done until tomorrow. This has been a living nightmare. God only knows what’s going to happen to the matching dryer and side by side refrigerator I bought at the same time. I wish I never bought a GE. Think twice before buying one yourself. And GE - tell your customer service reps to get an attitude adjustment. GE customer service - if you’re that miserable working there, get a different job! Single worst experience dealing with these morons!
New GE Washing Machine, purchased in February 2018 (less than 9 months in service) was causing electrical surges in my home. Had a dedicated electrical outlet. GE Technicians responded 2 times to my request for repair and blamed everything on me. I had to download the O&M Manuals & wiring diagrams from the open web since GE Repair did not have them. The technicians claimed did not have available nor did the corporate have. I questioned how they can service washing machines and not have access to O&M Manuals. Since I am a professional engineer and reviewed the diagrams, I questioned the technicians about their testing equipment and they had became belligerent and left my home while failing to acknowledge that the agitator cycle was in fact causing surges in my home.
After numerous visits to the store where the machine was purchased, the store managers agreed to take back the machine and I purchased an LG (approx.$980) from the store. I paid approx. $400 more for the LG. The new LG works perfectly with no electrical surges. It appears that GE has not be willing to acknowledge design flaws in the VFD motor drives and/or the clutch in the drive.
After 2 months of use my daughter noticed what looked like spots of rust all around the top 3 inches of the stainless steel washer tub. I called for service and the opinion of the GE Service person was that it was mold, not rust. He said GE would not cover rust anyway and "that they don't make 'em like they used to." Mind you, I have only had this unit for 2 months. I called Home Depot where I purchased it and explained I was not happy and that GE was not going to do anything. In addition I also discovered I was sold a 2014 model! I found this out when they could not find the serial number for my service call. No one will address this situation, I just want them to replace the entire unit. I will never purchase another GE appliance or any major appliance from Home Depot.
Update:
I must say that Eva from the Home Depot Service Plan center has been totally amazing, going above and beyond! She has been working with me on this issue since October. Please note that my service plan does not kick in for 12 months after I’ve had the machine, GE should be taking care of any repairs at this time. Although we have not come to a resolution yet the only offer from GE is to (1) Sell me a new washtub at a discounted price. My Service Plan will then kick in, as a courtesy, and reimburse me for the wash tub and pay for the service call. Or (2) GE will sell me a new machine at a discounted price. This would replace the ‘old’ unit they sold me in July that is rusted. Seriously!?!? I simply want the machine that I purchased, a current model, without rust. I shouldn’t have to repair a machine that was given to me with rust on it or purchase a new machine that I should have gotten in the first place! Am I the only one who sees the total disregard for customer service here? GE has totally dropped the ball on this. I really don’t know where to go from here. I thought so much more of GE then this, not anymore.
According to Google, the average washing machine lasts 10 to 14 years. That is what we were planning on when we bought the GE top loader washer. We figured the GE brand was a good one and the machine would live up to its heritage. Not so. The first week the machine dumped water all over our floor and ruined a room full of carpet (which GE did replace; we simply had the hassle of having workmen in our house for a few days).
Six years later the machine started putting black streaks on our clothes when they were washed. The repairman said that the transmission was broken and had to be replaced in the washer. That would cost $400 for the repair (parts and labor). The repair company (which does not sell appliances) recommended that we buy a new washer rather than repair the GE. So much for our machine lasting 10 to 14 years. Needless to say, we will buy another washing machine and it won't be a GE. Neither will we be buying anything else from GE.
Last night we were watching tv when we heard a loud unfamiliar sound. Turns out that our washing machine just decided to turn itself on. Not completely, no water was pumping into the unit but the motor was in fact running. It would not turn off so I had to unplug it. I looked it up last night and found to my surprise that GE had to recall over 200 thousand GE Profile washers for this same problem and that they were concerned about fires. Of course those were GE Profile washers and my model is not included in that recall of a few years ago. So GE had to replace 200 thousand mother boards. What did they do with all those expensive defective mother boards?
Here's my question, I'm not accusing GE of doing anything unscrupulous but just raising the question. Would an American company who is now manufacturing their products in Mexico reuse expensive defective mother boards in a less expensive model. Because its less expensive is there no longer a fire concern? Is this not the same situation? I was told today that my unit which was installed on November 25 2016 less than 2 years ago is out of warranty. Apparently defective equipment is only covered for 12 months as well.
Oct 15 - bought a stackable washer and dryer 3 months ago. I have used it 3 times. The first time, after 3 loads the dryer broke down, so I called and then waited 1 week for a repairman who made an adjustment. The second time after 1 load, the dryer broke down so again I called and waited another week for a repairman who determined the bearings needed replacing, so I waited 2 weeks for a repairman. Then I did 3 loads of laundry and lo and behold halfway through drying the 3rd load, it just quit. Won't turn on, so again, phone for repair and this time I told the GE representative I want a new unit. She said my warranty does not cover replacement. I am a senior and can't afford to just go and buy another unit, I live out of town and just can't get up and go to a laundromat, which is a crazy thought anyway as I have a brand new unit in my home.
Oct 25 so the repairman is here, got it running but sounds like the motor is going. Nov 9 Still not fixed, still, can't do laundry, paid 1000 3.5 months ago for a machine that doesn't work. GE tells me they are sorry but they have procedures to follow. Personally, their procedures are not my problem. My problem is, in good faith, I purchased the product. However, the product is defective, unrepairable, and now after 3.5 months, I have to wait for their procedures. I will never recommend GE to anyone. I will never so much as buy a GE lightbulb in the future, and everyone is going to eventually know how rotten the product, the customer service and the product is. So now what? Still can't do laundry. Their precious procedures are more important than their customers.
Purchased a GE washer and dryer at Lowe's in July 2017, and an extended warranty. Fourteen months later the washer started making noises like metal grinding on metal. We also bought an extended Warranty. A frustrating five weeks later fighting with the Warranty Company found out after going out to Lowe's that the washer needed a belt, nuts, gear and likely a new transmission. They finally bought it out after the Asst. Mgr. at Lowe's fought with them. Will NEVER buy another GE product. Have never had a washer that didn't last at least 6-7 years. Now have a Maytag, hoping that this was made better.
We purchased this product based on sales rep sales pitch and because I considered GE makes lots of machines that are rebranded and would not release a product that was not reliable. Apparently I was wrong. The washer top, not the lid but the bezel cracked after one year of normal use. The repairman replaced the top bezel/cover under warranty and it cracked as he was replacing it. He replaced it a second time. The new cover cracked after a few months and warranty was not covering replacement. So we kept running it and the top is falling apart at the seams.
Now in its 4th year the transmission is leaking oil and water. These machines are going to landfill and I would not give them to anyone. So much for High efficiency and green, and energy-star... This product is made not to last. Shopping for a new product and it won't be GE or manufactured by GE. I did complain to them with no reply, so much for customer service.
OMG, I would add more to this review, but EVERYONE else here has summed up the problem EXACTLY. It sounds like I am running a small airport in my hallway, where the GE front-loading washer (from Lowe's, but I am sure it isn't their fault) about four years ago. An "energy saver" it says, but I have ZERO idea how that can even be possible. The dryer takes just as long as the washer and so an average wash and dry cycle takes just over FOUR HOURS total. My mom still has her 20+ year old Kenmore washer/dryer, and both work just fine, washing a full load and drying the same in under 1.5 hours total.
HOWEVER, the GE product is a pile of crap. We have had the repairman out several times -- close to a dozen -- even the home warranty folks, I have given up trying, and given up fearing for our lives every time we use this pile of junk! Expensive piece of excrement. I would NEVER recommend this product -- either the washer or the dryer. They look good, when not running -- so much so, that when contemplating a move out of state, we were going to leave the lot with the new buyers. Mom's Kenmore both perfect washer and dryer set that work much better and save much more energy. I am replacing both of these machines for Christmas -- or Hanukkah, since it comes sooner.
I come home from work and the GE washing machine that I bought from Lowe's 4 years old filled my house full of smoke. I open the lid and it shot Flames out in my face. Good thing I showed up when I did or my house would have been burnt down. My house still has a burnt wiring smell to it. Washing machine has a hole in the bottom of the tub because it got so hot from burning. I will never buy another GE appliance again.
Purchased a GE washer model# GTWN4250D1WS on 5-24-14. Only lasted 4 years. I just had to buy a new washer because the GE died in the middle of a load of laundry. I had many issues with this machine since the day I bought it. My clothes got caught under the agitator and torn. My towels frayed along the edges at a rapid rate. The water level sensor never prouced enough water and left soap on my clothes. If I used less detergent, my clothes would be not cleaned. The automatic balancer stopped working about year ago. So disappointed in this washer. I thought GE was supposed to be a reputable manufacturer. The only good thing about it is that I dont have to use it any more. I gave it two stars because it was a large capacity and could do a lot of laundry in one load.
Purchased a top load washing machine in December 2017. I have never had a load that was not horrendously wrinkled. I have tried every setting imaginable and it's still horrible. First tech downloaded a "repair" to the washing machine computer. The 2nd tech just plugged into the machine and said it appears to be fine. If there was a repair that needed to be downloaded, then obviously it was created because many people were having the same problem. I was then told that the spin cycle is the exact same for every setting (including delicate)! Are you kidding me! Then I was told the machine is functioning fine...and my case was closed. I was just dismissed. Do they think this is customer satisfaction!!! Quite the opposite. GE has been a huge disappointment. I will never buy any product from them in the future. Do NOT even consider using them!
Bottom line, do not buy a GE appliance. No product support and the washer only last 2 to 4 years before a complete mechanical failure. GE sold their appliance division to Haier Group China. Haier Group will sell you the same poor replacement parts at their cost and you will have to fit the bill for the $450 repair labor. Then the unit will fail again in 3 to 4 years because they use the same poorly made Chinese parts as replacements. The unit cost to repair is not worth the price. Now I see why GE is failing so bad. Poor products and even poorer customer support.
On Aug 23, 2018 our GE washer stopped working 18 months after purchase of a new unit. Model number is GFW480SSK0WW. It would lock the door and make a sound like it was running, but nothing would happen. After some time (30-60 min) it would stop. We called the Assurant repair service line and made an appointment. The Service rep came on Aug 27 (day 4 without a washer) and could not fix it. Said he had to get parts, either the brain or a pump needed to be replaced.
Authorized Appliance is the name of the company in Phoenix AZ who performs this service. I called Assurant on Sep 1 (day 8 without a washer) to find out the status. They said they could provide no info and we had to follow up with the local repair company "Authorized Appliance". On calling their number, they would not answer the phone and basically forced you to write them an email. In response to the email, they replied on Sep 4 (day 12 without a washer) "The parts are back ordered causing a delay. I have sent a request to the distributor to see if they have an ETA and I will call you once they respond". Then we got a call saying parts will be available end of Sep.
That meant we should plan on 30+ days without a washer. This is extremely poor service support in my mind. The problem lies with the GE company who are not providing adequate spares on parts that are obviously failing too often. So first a bad design, then poor availability of parts so customers basically will never come back. This is definitely the last GE appliance I have bought. No more GE poor quality and poor service products for me any more.
I bought this washer one-year-old used. Should have done my research! It has way more negative comments than positive, which should have been a red flag. We loved the large stainless steel drum and seemed to have ample capacity for clothes. Everything seems to function well on it, no problem with the water level controls, albeit my wife insists on using the deep fill (highest setting) for even small loads. Then, we started noticing small holes in our tee shirts or other clothes. My wife thought it was cockroaches doing it.
But then she brought me some of our towels and brand new rugs where the machine shredded them along the edges and made a mess inside the washer. I checked the agitator in the drum and found the agitator fins are quite sharp. And there is just enough room under these fins for articles to get caught under. Aside from that, the washer works great. But, the cost of replacing clothes, towels, and rugs makes this an economic nightmare. Thus, a one star rating. We all need a class action suit for their crap design.
Do not buy a GE washer. They simply don’t honor their warranty. If you are willing to spend 10 hours trying to get service, they may send someone in between 30-60 days. Even that is not guaranteed. Our washer broke less than 7 months after it was installed. Our complaints and requests have been ignored. We went up the chain and each time they say there is nothing they can do. They have finally offered $50 for our inconvenience but no fix. If you buy any GE product, be prepared for no warranty service.
Purchase this washer less than 20 months ago and it is already broke. Didn't buy the extended warranty. Figured that was a three and a five. There's only two of us in this house so that washer is not used that frequent. It is junk. A lot of complaints about it. You will never want to purchase a GE product. They offered to send a technician out for a charge. No thanks. We have another set of washer and dryer. Whirlpool. It's not a digital one like just junk. You can go to the settings that you need to set on. We have a cleaning service and we do two to three loads a day with those washer and dryers from Whirlpool.
Had it for at least 12 years. Never had a problem with it. So you need to read all ratings and complaints about GE products. As far as I'm concerned they do not stand behind their products. Remember. This is me and my wife's clothing only being done. No work Rags whatsoever. That is why if you look it only it has one and a half star ratings and a lot of complaints. Thank you for reading my rating.
Our GE washer, model #GTW460ASJ6WW, needed repair. They first tried to walk me through re-setting the washer, but that didn't work and it needed to have a technician sent out to repair it. It was one month out of warranty, however, the very nice gentleman on the phone stated that since it was just one month out of warranty, they would send someone out 'no charge'. Some other companies wouldn't have done this one month out of warranty, so I think GE deserves a shout out.
From day one of trying to use my NEW washer, it has constantly bounced all over the place when attempting to spin at any time during the wash. Have tried to have it replaced due to it never working unless the load is so small that I could have hand washed them better or if there were no clothes in it at all. I have been told by customer relations that the machine has to be repaired four times before they can deem it irreparable and then and only then will they replace my new non-working machine. The repairman and technician from GE blamed the problem on how I loaded the clothes to an uneven floor. This is not the case as my second opinion repairman confirmed that these are of the issue.
I am regretting buying anything from GE. They will not work with you to quickly make sure you have a functioning appliance. The last two loads of clothes I attempted in this machine had to be wrung out by hand as the spin would not work correctly. If I had not been sitting babysitting the machine, it would have broke through the housing and damaged itself along with my home. Very disappointed that they will not work reasonably with you to replace the obviously defective machine.
I purchased an expensive Electronic sensing washer and dryer set by General Electric. This was the first and last set I will ever purchase from this company. The washer Tub Gear Set went out the same time the shocks failed - that was within 2 years of purchase. Cost more to repair than it was worth. As for the Dryer, it too failed with failing bearings and very poor build that made the gaskets fail. These things are built with the thinnest metal and are fabricated very poorly. Seriously, what pieces of crap. Buyer beware, I would highly suggest you look at another manufacturer's products as these will just make you very angry and wasting your money.
After replacing part after part, this washer keeps shutting itself off. Too many garbage sensors, and who knows what else electronic bullcrap in this unit. Top load 2.5 yr. old only! I hate this thing, and I just want a BASIC washer that will wash clothes. GE, and similar models put all this ** in their units to make you spend tons of cash to keep them going a year more IF LUCKY. Go to hell GE!!!!
It's been 50 Days and GE has NOT fixed my Washer!!! At first I was thinking all these reviews cannot be real!? But then I quickly realized its True!!! I will make this review very simple (I give GE Negative Stars). I reached-out to GE because my washer was malfunctioning/NOT working. It took 1 Week to send a technician to my house... when he "tries to fix the washer" he tells me we need to order parts. Ok sooo that's what we agreed to do (at this point everything was going fine)... another week passes-by. Another tech was sent to my house and to my horror he tells me GE sent the wrong part(s)!! I then call the "Consumer Relations Dept." that is a JOKE... I was on hold for a LONG LONG time 40-50 minutes... Yes!! Sooo unprofessional.
Its July 20th and the parts still remains on Back-order!? REALLY... The Call center keeps telling me the parts are not available, just keep waiting! I been WAITING FOR more than a MONTH!!! They sent me a check for 50 bucks? What the hell! That's NOT enough to cover my dry-cleaner/washing expenses. This is such an inconvenience to me and my family!
Today I called and some lady basically told me. The part is NOT ready because of a warehouse delay?? (They keep saying the SAME thing over and over) I am sooo disappointed because I bought 5 GE products about a year-ago. I regret purchasing GE products! This has been a nightmare!!! I'm still in shock about the simple fact that GE call Center shows NO empathy, just careless about the whole issue. I normally do not do reviews like this... but this calls for a FULL Review. I even offered to pay extra money to help expedite the process or pick-up parts - anything I could do to help the process move-along. I been patient all this time... but now I am just ready to replace my Washer with another brand. I won't be purchasing any GE products. NEVER AGAIN!!! P.S Washer still broken... Parts still on Back-order.
GE top loader No Agitator Model GTW680BSJWS: Bought this and matching dryer from PC Richards 3/12/2018. The dryer broke within a week. Repairman told me it was because there was too much lint in the trap. Two days later same thing. Waited over a week for the guy to come back. He had to order parts. Took 4 WEEKS to get a repairman to my house to fix it. Then, about 8 weeks later, the washer goes - bouncing all over and not spinning out clothes - 2 weeks later (earliest apt that they had) guy comes - "you have 5 Errors on your machine - all regarding balance." Tells me he did "Update" that should have been done at the factory and that now it was fine - ONE WEEK LATER - same thing - unbalanced and dancing all over the place. Spent hours on the phone with both P.C. Richards and G.E., and multiple trips to the store - both parties refuse to replace machine. Insist I have to wait until it is deemed by them to be "unrepairable."
They tell me someone would be at my house yesterday between 2 and 5 P.M. Stayed home all day waiting. At 3 P.M. I get a call saying the repairman went home sick and that I would have to wait another 4 days for a repairman. Between the washer and dryer, both G.E. models, I have spent hours at the laundromat wasting time and money when I have brand new machines sitting in my kitchen. When I asked to have money taken off what I owed on the machines I was told the only thing they could do was give me a $50.00 gift card for P.C. Richards. Like I would ever buy ANYTHING from them again.
I have spent at least $80.00 at laundromat with new machines that don't work - I don't need anything from P.C Richards except the machines I already bought. GE and P.C. Richards have lost a 30-year customer - BUYER BEWARE!!! Don't buy ANYTHING GE!!! BTW, the girl at P.C. Richards told me the other day that I never should have gotten a GE washer because they always break - she has customers complaining all the time - then... why do they carry it and sell it to unsuspecting customers???
Save yourself money, aggravation, and buyer's remorse. Impossible to launder two bed sheets and other small articles at the same time. The sheets smother items and put the basket out of balance. The machine (GE Washer G010) "walks," actually walks and rumbles away from the wall. Noisy, sounds like rocks grinding! G101 lid locks! Who the H. decided to lock the lid? No going back to toss in one more item. GE could put a lock on their refrigerators, but on a washing machine? The product is insane! And, I'm stuck with a monster!
We purchased A GE washer (Model # GHWN4250DWW) three years ago and it has begun leaking from the bottom. I checked the drain hose and that is not the problem. I would expect a clothes washer to last much longer than three years especially since we are a two person household. Sadly disappointed with GE.
We purchased a new washer a year ago in August. It has been steadily dripping water inside since month three. We called the warranty number and the repair person began the process of ordering the part. We got a call last week that the part won't be in until after August. That is, if I haven't decided to do something else (her words), like maybe just buy a new washer for instance? Not even one year, but the warranty is almost out.
GE dishwasher was our builder's install. Leaking water through the air dryer onto my hardwood floors. Failed repair twice by GE and they told us the first one didn't count and they needed a third visit to do the same thing instead of replacing it. I had it hauled out of here like the trash that it is and replaced with a unit that is made in America. Having these two experiences so closely together tells me that they know they build an inadequate product and they refuse to repair or order parts so they can do their business in bulk rather than loyalty. I am stuck with other GE appliances because of my builder, but I will never buy from them again.
GE delivered a brand new washing machine and pedestal and took the defective one on 7/13/18. I am a happy lady now! I appreciate Danielle, who was assigned to my case, for all her help in getting this issue resolved in a favorable manner.
Purchased a GE Washer and dryer for our lake house. They were delivered 4/27/18. The washer stopped working 5/25/18. GE sent a repair person out on 5/31/18. He diagnosed it as faulty water valve intake. Had to order the part. Another repair person came 6/16/18 to repair the washer only to discover the first repair person misdiagnosed the problem. This guy said it's the main board and will have to order the part. I just found out last week the part is on back order and will not be available until 8/6/18. GE Customer Services has been no help. All they have offered is sympathy. Sympathy does not wash my clothes. I have asked for a new washer but they have not responded to my request. Consumers are at the mercy of GE. I will NEVER buy another GE product, EVER!
I purchased washer (GE 5.3 Washing machine model GTW680BMMDG) at the end of May 2016 from 'Bad Boy' store in Burlington ON Canada. I noticed that the machine in the last few minutes of the spin cycle is very noisy and the drum was shaking. I had a service man (under the manufacturer's warranty) come to the house and he made some adjustment and stated that the shaking and the noise level is "normal". I complained again to GE and they sent another repairman who made some more 'adjustments'.
However, it is still very noisy towards the end of the spin cycle. Our previous washer (Kenmore) lasted 16 years and it was never as noisy. Furthermore, none of my friends that have washing machines state that the noise and the shaking of the drum is unusual. I have an extended warranty that lasts to July 2023, although I doubt that the machine lasts that long, and I am very reluctant to buy another GE product. Furthermore, the salesperson at the store did not point out the unusual noise.
I bought this machine 3 years ago. Heavier load ever done was 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2 terry cloth bath mats using the extra large setting. Average of 4 loads per week. Bearings were destroyed after 3 years of use. Part was replaced ($300 btw labor and part). 3 months later it is broken again. Called new repairman thinking the first one was not competent. New repairman said "I would never touch this piece of junk. They are worthless and I won't tarnish my reputation trying to fix it." If you want to waste your money, go ahead and buy it.
One morning trying to get washed I realized I had no hot water. I went to my basement to see if there was something wrong with my hot water heater. To my surprise my washing machine was on with hot water running into it. No matter what I did I could not turn off the washer, so I shut off the water. The next day my son came to look at it and thank GOD he did. We went to the basement and the machine was on with no water and with the smell of the motor burning. This could have been a tragedy if we did not see this when we did. Also as I notice in other reviews I have had the same, not enough water, wash ends too fast, etc. I am going to send a letter to GE also.
GE is great if your appliances do not need repairs. But our 4 year old washing machine stopped working mid-cycle. After two hours on hold with the GE repair service, my husband tried to get help online. Repairman came out to "fix" machine and only rebooted the electrical board, charging us $270. He did not check to see if the machine would work. We have tried for over a week to get someone out to fix it. They were scheduled for today, and now have told us they cannot come and will come next week. That would be almost 3 weeks with not working washing machine, for a family of 5. Do yourself a favor and do not by from GE. The headaches and dirty laundry are not worth it!
The GE Hydrowave washer is horrendous!!! 1) Auto-load sensing is way off, NEVER enough water no matter what size load you're washing. 2) Half the time I use it, I have to use the "rinse & spin" or "drain & spin" option, sometimes more than once because it doesn't drain! Note: why would they have those options anyway? My guess is they knew about that problem. 3) Clothes gets all tangled and twisted and sometimes stuck in the bottom of the agitator. 4) DO NOT BUY. Or you will be sorry. It's total crap.
I purchased a new GE washer model #GTWN4250D2WS on 9/25/2015. And since day 1 - I have been unsatisfied with this machine! This machine will only give me 10.5" of water on a full load. How do I get clothes clean with only that much water? I can't do a full load because the top clothes come out dry and unwashed. I have to do a bunch of small loads of laundry, to get my laundry done. So what's the use of having the nice large washer that I purchased? I have had the top control panel replaced 2x and my service man tells me that it's normal for this machine only to have this amount of water! What good is it??? I will never buy another GE product again!!!
I bought matching GE appliances. Washer & Dryer from a big box store. Free delivery. Deliveryman noticed some damage on one of the pieces. They were very professional and quick. So far so good. I've had the two for only a couple of months and they are both pretty quiet machines.
Purchased washer and dryer in 2003 and never had a problem with either of them. Washer does great job and dryer only takes 30 min for a full load. When the time comes I would only purchase GE.
This style machine does not have the agitator “tower” in the middle of the tub and this causes the wash to become twisted around each other and tangled. It requires a lot of work to sort them out to put them in the dryer and if you wash large items, towels, sheets, quilts, etc. you can always expect that these items will caused the tub to become unbalanced and the washer will shake all over the laundry room and sound like someone beating on a metal drum with a hammer! The clothes come out “adequately” clean, but the trouble you go through is not worth it! I would NOT recommend this product to anyone!
Bought a new GE stacked washer dryer for our lake house last fall. From the start so little water many items do not get wet. Have to add water and push the clothes down. Not sure how well they wash as I have watched them just go back and forth and stay in the same place. It take 2 loads as you cannot put in many items if you want them washed even poorly. The old machines had good washing action. When on spin it makes a very loud ticking noise, have to leave the room and close the door. A call to GE said this was normal--really! There was no mention of it being a GE machine on any literature or the machine itself. If so we would have not purchased it after all the reviews. Not sure why they would design an item that will not do its intended job. Just junk!
I purchased a GE washer last year. The next day they had to bring a new one out. Sensors were bad. Had the second one less than 7 months and had to call a repairman out. He had to update the sensors. It acted up again in less than 2 months. When he came out it was checking out as ok. It seems this model has intermittent sensor issues. I will never buy another GE washer!
Bought this GE washer from Home Depot (big mistake... They don't take returns on appliances) two months ago. Problems from the get-go with unbalanced loads, machine moving across the floor and then not filling with water. The control panel has been changed out once, but problems persist. This is the worst piece of junk I have ever owned and I am surprised that the company is still in business, and that Home Depot and Lowe's are still selling it. We are pursuing a refund through our credit card company.
I purchase this new washer GTW460ASJ8WW based on a GE Video and the sales persons claims that it could fill to the top of the holes in the tub. If the water level was lower than desired, "just press the deep fill button" for more water. It will fill up to the top of the holes in tub. It barely fills halfway in the tub! I put a normal large load of towels and half of the load doesn't even get wet! The towels are getting worn due to the friction & lack of water. They don't smell clean and feel dirty and rough on the skin like a towel that was never washed and used over and over again. I was told that is the way the NEW washer work.
I've asked other people that have other brands & they said the water does cover their towels. GE said they will charge me $100 to send a technician out if they find it is the way that the washer is suppose to function. Bottom line IT DOESN'T CLEAN MY TOWELS AND SHEETS! THAT IS WHAT A WASHER IS SUPPOSED TO DO. So if they tell me that is the way it is suppose to work they cover themselves and charge me $100 for a washer that doesn't clean. They are sending a technician out. I will keep you posted.
Updated on 04/25/2018: GE washer GTW460ASJ8WW - Following up from April 9th review. GE sent a tech guy who said the machine works as designed. DETAILS: The tech saw how little water entered the machine with a load of towels. He commented that it looked low with the water even after he hit DEEP FILL. After hooking up to his computer and calling someone at GE he said the machine worked as designed! I thought the design of a washer was to wash clothes to be CLEAN and not RIP UP my towels or wear out clothes! I told GE that I was not happy with this machine and they said I could get another model for about $427.00! They would not credit me for the washer I purchased. I will never do business with GE.
I wish I knew they sold this company to China and is the same brand now as Haier (Junk). I have asked others about their new washers and I was told Whirlpool was good. As far as the GE brand, all JUNK. My brother-in-law purchased a GE refrigerator for $2,000+ and it broke down in 3 years. The cost to fix was not worth it. He bought a Whirlpool. He has Whirlpool and Maytag and said he is happy with his washer and refrigerator now. DON'T BUY GE ON ANYTHING. UNETHICAL COMPANY THAT DOESN'T STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS.
Very dissatisfied. Not able to jump in or skip ahead two specific settings of washing machine. Very frustrating to troubleshoot, diagnose or get repaired. Would not recommend to anyone who would like to have their washing machine work for more than a year.
We had a GE washing machine for 20 years, I remember it broke down 5 years ago, I made a phone call, the controller broke down, I am surprised they still have parts, which stopped me from purchasing a fancy looking washing machine...
This Hydrowave washing machine has a very nice deep stainless steel tub, the problem is that if the water level barely covers the clothes, the agitator just goes swish, swish, meaning it doesn't actually clean anything. I've tried Tide, with and without Bleach. DON'T BUY THIS, IT'S THE WORST MACHINE I'VE EVER SEEN!! Really shocking that they made this thing. Now I have to get rid of the lousy thing, and purchase a new machine. I'm just glad I found out before I bought all my new appliances for the kitchen, and for my son's new house also. GE is a waste of $$. Wow.
Had a new GE GTW810SSJWS28 washer delivered 8/8/17 and we have not had a clean wash since day one. ALL loads come out with major swaths of lint attached to the clothing and most of our laundry comes out looking dirtier than when it went in because of these clumps. Just so any of you are thinking, as some of the other customers who have posted seem to think, that GE Appliances is an American company, perish the thought. It has been sold to China like so many others.
My wife and I bought the machine thinking we were dealing with the old, American, GE. We were told "Oh no you can't use softener anymore. You will have to run the extra rinse cycle. You will have to use high spin cycle. You will have to run the deep rinse cycle. We followed all suggestions and after two separate repair technicians came to the house we were told that there was nothing wrong with the machine, that it must be us and we would be charged for any other repair visits because there was nothing wrong with the machine. Our problem was that since we live in New Mexico and hang our laundry out to dry for free we were at fault. All we have to do is use a dryer with a lint filter. We have calculated that with all the extra cycles and using the dryer we will have been paying 5 times more to use this new "Energy Star" washer than we had been with our old washer.
I purchased a Washer and Dryer from Lowe's about two years ago. I didn't purchased an extended warranty because I'm from the "old school" and believe that an American made product should last at least 10 years. But, no, it started failing soon after it was delivered. It left the clothes wet, and would bounce around. No matter how many times that I would balance it and adjust the feet on the washer it would continue to bounce. Now, the spin balance no longer works. I called and was told that GE didn't service my area and that I would have to find local repairs on my own from my Yellow Pages. Please, if you are reading these reviews, they are true and from really frustrated homeowners that only want to use their appliances. Only by NOT buying GE products will we get this massive company up and off the couch once again and start making quality products again. Shame on GE and shame on American made products, shame, shame, shame!
I initially scheduled my repair for my washer which is almost a year old now online. I scheduled it for a Saturday because that is the only day that I will be home. I received a call on Thursday, through a third party (my boyfriend). He stated that the technician wanted to know if he could stop by which no one was present at that time. That was out. Then the dispatcher stated that he would come on Saturday. I told the dispatcher that I had an appointment at noon and would need to leave the house by then.
On Saturday, I called the Service Tech. at 11:45 a.m. He stated that he was in Naples at the time which is a good 40 minutes away from me and that he only works half-days on Saturday. Therefore, he is telling me that he will not be available to make it so we reschedule for next Saturday. Today I received a voicemail from GE stating that they are rescheduling my appointment to next Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. First and foremost, do not reschedule any appointment without confirming with me that I am available which I am not and have clearly stated this to them. I am a single mother and work Monday through Friday. I am only off on Saturdays. I have told them this over and over, what are they not getting.
I called Customer Service and was told to call Customer Relations. I am sure John Flannery does not know that his Service Dept. really sucks. I will make sure that he knows by filing a complaint and getting a hold of all of the 1,000's of customers to see if they would be amenable to filing a Class Action Suit against GE's Service Dept. and how they handle their scheduling. If anyone is interested, contact me.
We bought this washing machine (GE Allura) and we did not use it for nine months. My husband kept telling me to scrap the old machine and fit this new one. Eventually, we did. All worked well for about a year, then it began making terrible banging noises just as it would go to spin, so I would have to go and open it and position the clothes around the drum to get it to balance. Most of the time, I would end up removing clothes till almost nothing is in the machine, and then it MIGHT spin properly. It also fails to properly wash the clothes. It leaves stains on the clothes of dirt and detergent that has not been removed. In all the junk machines, I have ever used throughout my life this one is the worst offender. I know there is no warranty on it now, even though it has little use.
I always assumed the reason you bought a washing machine was to stop washing clothes by hand. This one is a good lemon in the corner. My husband is a mechanic, and I will get him to take a look and see if there is something he can do to make it work. Before we spend $400 on repairs, we might like to review other new machines and consider throwing this one out the door if my husband cannot fix it. It is no wonder GE's share pricing is falling in the stock markets for the shoddy products they are selling people. Not sure why the Consumer Watchdog, or the Ombudsman is not challenging this company for selling (Disposing) of dodgy goods to customers.
Bought a new GE Dryer in August and it has 3 heat settings. Only one temperature on all 3 settings. Takes over 160 minutes to dry a load of towels on cotton setting. Four times GE has come out to look at the dryer and they keep saying it's energy efficient. If it's energy efficient it wouldn't take over 2 hours to dry a load of towels. Using more gas and electric to run this dryer. No one is listening to me that for a 3 cycle dryer, there is no difference in temperature if it's on the delicate cycle versus the cotton cycle. SAME TEMPERATURE.
2 and a half years ago I purchased a GE washer and dryer from the local Home Depot. Day 1 we had issues with the control panel on the washer. Service tech showed up about a week later, stated he wasn't familiar with the model we had. We were told that we need a new panel board which would take about a week to get. That was 2 and a half years ago and we have never seen or heard anything from GE. Both the washer and dryer suck. I would never purchase another GE appliance nor will I recommend the brand to anyone.
This machine apparently has a mind of its own beyond the control of the user. User normally has to stop the machine for added clothes or bleach and I know full well the rules about holding the three second button to stop then re-pressing it to start again. Yet, sometimes it just wants to drain all the hot or cold water out when restarting although that is not desired. Such a waste and not environmentally friendly. I just want to fault the person(s) that developed the logic system for these machines.
I have my own degree in industrial controls technology and myself an expert after working 30 years in the field from servohydraulics to pneumatic logic design and troubleshooting as a leader and hands on worker. A user should be able to stop and start the machine at will, yet this is not possible. Please --- your logic designer is a failure. I would fire or retrain them. The shame is on the engineer that signed off on this unpredictable monster. I give the designer and engineer failing grades. GE should be ashamed to put this product out there in the public sphere. I've had this machine long enough to hate it and know it can't be returned but if GE can send me a schematic of the logic or updated logic board I will personally redesign it the way it should have been done in the first place. Shameful.
I am a retired senior citizen 70 years young living in an apartment. I rented this apartment because it had all appliances provided. I have owned a home and bought many appliances in my lifetime. The GE washer in the apartment model GCWN4950D1WS, serial number ZA195124G is a worthless piece of junk!!! It is "supposed to sense" the water level needed to clean your clothes. I find that if you leave it to the machine the clothes do not get cleaned. My only solution has been to add water to the washer from the sink in the kitchen. This is a very tedious, tiring, exasperating, infuriating chore for someone who is supposedly RETIRED. I am handicapped and it is very difficult to do normal everyday things. The Golden Years are not so Golden because of a company like "GE" that puts inferior products in Senior Citizen Apartments. Shame on you GE!!!
I previously posted a complaint about my GE washer. I contacted GE and they sent me a replacement main board at a very discounted price. I was able to install it myself and so far the washer is working great. I was very pleased with their service.
I purchased a GE washer model GTW460ASJ5WW in September 2016. The main board has gone out according to the repairman. I did not get the extended warranty so I had to pay $65 for him to check it. It will cost $200 for new board plus installation cost. This is ridiculous, a washer should last longer than 2 years. I will never purchase a GE appliance again.
I had to call three different times to get an appointment scheduled for when I could actually make it -- one person gave me a day that didn't work and told me to call again; the second said she scheduled an appointment but didn't; the third actually scheduled it. On the day of the appointment, I got a voicemail saying the technician was finishing up a job and would be at my place shortly. I called 2 hours later to learn that the technician didn't come because I hadn't answered the phone. (The message did not say I needed to call back to confirm.) I then spent an hour on the phone with Carly, a very nice and competent person in consumer affairs, who tried in vain to get me an appointment that same day (the technician said he couldn't fit me in, even though he was supposed to see me that day). Carly kindly offered to reimburse me for the costs of washing my clothes.
I replaced the motherboard after the machine was only 2 years old. I had to pay for the part and pay to have it installed. It failed again within one year. I replaced the machine with a LG. NO MORE GE. THEIR APPLIANCES ARE SUBSTANDARD. I HOPE THEIR HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT IS BETTER FOR OUR AMERICAN PATIENTS!!!!
I bought this dryer and it was leaking gas, and shutting off in mid cycle less than 2 weeks after I bought it. I spoke with GE and they suck!!! I told them the gas company red flagged the dryer for leaking gas. They set me up an appointment with a technician a week later. On the morning of my appointment the tech called me and said that I needed a specific part and it wasn't available for 3 weeks. I asked how could he know this without looking at my dryer and he said he just knew. I told him I still wanted him to come out and look at it and he said, "Ok," but never showed.
When I called GE and asked them about why he didn't show they started making excuses and saying he needed a certain meter and now he was rescheduled and couldn't get back out to me. I also asked them if he knew what part I needed without coming out why didn't they tell me this a week ago and order the part instead of scheduling an appointment a week later and then telling me this. Pretty much wasting another week and making me lose a day of work. I finally spoke to another person at GE and she told me to exchange the appliance where I bought it. I spoke with Home Depot and they said it wasn't their policy (which I knew) and GE knew. I explained that GE had told me to call you knowing that Depot wouldn't exchange it. I am now waiting to see if Home Depot is able to get a tech out to look at my GE dryer.
The incompetence GE showed me I would never recommend another product from them EVER. I'm not saying their products are inferior, but, GE's customer service is atrocious. I felt I was patient in waiting a week for a tech. But to get a call and tell me he won't be coming and he knows what's wrong with my dryer over the phone is ridiculous. The fact that I wasted a whole day sitting at home and took a day off work infuriated me even more. Then speaking with customer service after being on hold for over 15 minutes and them telling me that the tech is correct when the knew for a week what was wrong made things even worse. So buyer beware when you get a GE product. Remember you don't just buy the product you buy the service and in my opinion GE's customer service is horrible.
My husband purchased a G.E. washer and dryer for my 50th birthday and the washer is a lemon and dryer knobs are cheap. 4 repairs later and refusal to replace by Lowe's and G.E. on products still under warranty, I have decided they deserve 0 stars and will never buy their products again! Warranty is a joke also!
My wife bought this GE GTW330bmkww Washing Machine in April, 2017 and have had serious shaking/agitation noise and movement. It also drains and spins sporadically. We have had two service calls and the technician indicated that we need to load it full and run on a delicate cycle to try to minimize the way it operates. I would not recommend this product to anyone and will likely end up junking this one and getting something that works.
We purchased a top load model (#GTW460ASJ8WW) from Lowe's on December 31, 2017 and installed it the next day. It took a little getting used to, but we wanted a washer that we could manually set water levels. We have our own well, so water saving is not an issue. We managed to do four (4) loads of laundry before the machine stopped working. The fifth time we tried to use the machine it would simply pour water into the tub and drain it out. The tub cannot fill with water. We did all the troubleshooting and re-booting. Nothing worked. Worse, the "pause/stop" button function is dead. The only way to shut the machine off is to unplug it. This machine lasted 6 days. We wish we had seen the reviews on this site before buying. We are not going to bother with the warranty and trying to get it fixed as it seems that is just more wasted time.
We only have 14 days to return this lemon to Lowe's. The folks at our Lowe's are really nice. They offered to replace the unit - but why bother? If a new product from GE fails that fast, I want nothing to do with anything they make. From the other reviews on this site, our problem is not unique. Our old washer, a top loading GE from 2005 sits out back. It will be more cost-effective to have that machine rebuilt than to bother with anything made today. That old unit was a warrior.
In October, amid the recent losses of two family members, my washing machine stopped working. Since I knew I would be flying back and forth to Charleston, IL for funerals and estate matters, I opted to go for the "sure bet" HOME DEPOT for my appliance needs. I opened a credit account with them which offered 0% for 6 mos., one-year "hassle-free" returns, and purchased a GE GTW330ASK (for help) 2WW. Home Depot delivered and installed the washer and from the moment I pushed "play/pause" on this machine the LOUD onslaught of troubles began. Before 90 days were over, it had completely stopped working. To add insult to injury, I placed a call for an appointment for repair with Erica for Tuesday, January, 2. I had to wait weeks!
Two days later I received another call from GE service canceling my appointment and asking ME what was "wrong with my washing machine". NOT being a professional appliance repairman, I could only reply that it does NOT work. To which the dispatcher placed an order for "a part" based on what I said (it's almost laughable as I write this except that I lived it) and informed me that the technician could not come till "the part arrived" and rescheduled for January 5th. The infamous "part" arrived the following day and was met with my call to a GE dispatcher for a technician to come ASAP. I was given back my original appoint date (January 2) at a later hour.
Two, not one, technicians came to my home. They plugged in a laptop and said the hot water was never turned on. HOME DEPOT delivered and installed the machine and tested it before leaving. This could not be possible having done "white" loads in the machine and my habit of rinsing the soap I dispense from the cup I used. The water WAS HOT... I don't know what your tech was vaping in the truck. I could have scripted the rest.
Needless to say, "the part" was NOT the right part... HOW COULD IT BE based SOLELY on my assessment and not a professional FIRST. After spending what was at least 30 minutes the lead tech declared that it was something else and I would have wait again to order the part and then have the tech come back again. Weeks of waiting produced NOTHING. This morning, sick with a cold, I spent the entire morning doing load after load of laundry at the nearby laundromat having just spent $450 for a brand new washing machine. UNACCEPTABLE! I have absolutely NO CONFIDENCE in GE products much less the technicians they dispatch to service them. It's almost unfathomable to think that after spending $450 for a washing machine that it breaks in less than 90 days.
I will never buy another GE product, which is unfortunate because they used to make GREAT THINGS! I will be returning this machine today to the Davie Florida store nearby. I do not want this in my home another minute. My hope was that HOME DEPOT would take care of its customers, ME, and honor the "hassle-free" return. I do NOT wish to spend 2018 with GE technicians fixing new appliances. This is a travesty.
GE Profile Washing Machine (GTW680BSJ1WS) - Bought this washing machine back in Feb 2016, a couple months after owning it stopped spinning. Called GE and had a service tech come out and replace the main board and the sensor for the tub only after going back and forth. Meanwhile we were without a machine for almost 2 weeks. Now it's doing it again, and not spinning. Now I have to pay to get a 2 year old machine serviced. I would not recommend a GE washing machine at all and the customer service at GE is lacking. I ended up calling a local company directly and so far have received better service over the phone as GE was going to charge $100 just to have someone come out. For the price I paid 2 years ago I should not be having this issue, they need to have better parts, better warranties and way better customer service. Stay away from GE profile top loading washer machines, they aren't worth the hassle.
Purchased on May 17, 2017 from Lowe’s a large capacity, heavy duty GE washer with extended warranty. The washer continually malfunctions and goes off balance. It cannot handle any kind of load without being thrown off balance. The washer is barely 6 months old and the repairman came in today to service it said he had to “update the sensors“ and replace the lid lock. He promised the machine should work now if I keep it on second rinse for all loads despite the fact that it’s advertised as energy efficient. I just washed a second load which consisted of one full size flat sheet, fitted sheet, and two pillowcases and the machine went off-balance again. Horrible machine and substandard repair service. Extremely disappointed!
GE WASHING MACHINE GTW46ASJ0WW - DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. This is the worst machine I have EVER owned! It is loud, it shakes and bounces like a rocket ship taking off as soon as you wash bulkier items and if the machine is off balance - just shuts off without giving you the chance to re-distribute the items. The fabric softener dispenser leaks so that there are always spots of it all over your clothes. The water level sensor doesn't even put enough water to cover the clothes so they are never clean and after 2 YEARS I had to pay $400.00 to change the control board because it was malfunctioning (the machine would not stop running - turning on by itself in the middle of the night). DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!!
Bought this washing machine a week ago, it was installed yesterday, and if there's so much as one T-shirt in the drum, all the water drains directly into the floor. Customer service is crap, got the run around, got hung up on, got told it wasn't their problem, got told that they weren't responsible for products after they're sold, and that the warranty only covers until the end of business the day after purchase, or the day after delivery, or several other contradictory claims. Was forced to rush home to give them a serial number, then hung up on when I called back to give them the serial number, then told the serial number wasn't important when I called back again. Spent 10 hours on the phone with them, and have a technician scheduled to come take a look at it on Friday. Overpriced garbage, sold by a garbage company, with garbage customer service.
I purchased GE Adora top loader washer model GHWN8355D0MC 2 years ago and the is basically a piece of garbage. It does not wash clothing and it actually gets it dirtier. I will never buy any GE product again.
My daughter purchased a washing machine for my birthday 6/7/2016. I will never purchase a GE washing machine ever again. It has been a problem ever since. When GE repairman came out he didn’t fix the problem as it still isn’t wringing out clothes. I didn’t purchase extended warranty so I’m screwed. I never had a problem with my old Maytag in all the years that I owned a Maytag washer machine. None of my friends will ever purchase a GE washer again.
Machine is only 2 years old and doesn't get clothes clean. Cycle times out - starts draining water and does not agitate. The only cycle that seems to work is soak cycle. I have read many reviews that say they have had service person come and try to fix but issues continue. At this point, simply going to buy a new washer. So, so disappointed in GE. Will NEVER buy one of their products again.
My GE washer and dryer are probably 20 years old and still going strong. Purchased from Sears and have never has a problem with either one of them. They are not "cool" looking like new models but they take care of my needs very well.
We purchased GE washer model no GTW460ASJ4WW and matching dryer. The dryer had to be repaired during the warranty period, but now this washer YOU WON'T BELIEVE HOW CHEAPLY MADE it is... Last night I tried to wash a microfleece blanket (you know how sleek this material is when wet). So all of a sudden I hear this loud noise while it was spinning. I paused the cycle and look inside. The "auger" which is the arm attached to the agitator was off flopping around! Come to find out these two parts are not one piece! There is an agitator is a basket bolted in the bottom and auger just screws on! With four L shape pieces that less than an inch in size, I have seen sturdier parts on model car kits! Thats the ONLY THING that screws this auger on and connects it! How cheaply made is that! I will NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GE APPLIANCE! Come on GE you need a new design team!!!
I bought a GE front load washer and a GE dryer from Lowe's in 2016. Only a year after purchase the Washer (GFWR2700HWW) is making a very loud noise (like an airplane taking off). I call GE and they said that they can only cover parts, but I would be responsible for labor and diagnostics service. Why would I want to pay hundreds of dollars for a 1 year old machine? It cost me $800 last year to buy it brand new. I had a Whirlpool for 10 years and It worked fine. I have an LG fridge that is 11 years old and it's still working like the day I purchased it, GE has bad products, they don't want to take responsibility for their faulty machines. I am never buying GE again and I will make sure none of my friends and family make the same mistake.
My machine broke down around the 1st of October 2017. I called GE repair and they sent out a repairman. He has been out to replace parts 3 times since then and is scheduled to come out for a 4th visit after yet another part is ordered. I have been without a washing machine for a month. How long can this go on? My warranty will be up in January. Will they continue to replace parts until then and just cast me aside? So far they have replaced: The motor, transmission, agitator, clutch and electrical board. Now, they are going to replace the transmission again because maybe the first one they replace was defective? I will never, ever buy another GE machine again. I thought they were solid and reputable, but things obviously have changed. They are refusing to just give me another machine. I failed to mention that my machine is just 8 months old. Customers beware of GE's service department
Our GE Adora washing machine was purchased to replace the one we'd had for about 15 years. After about 9 months, it started making horrendous noise on spin cycle. This happens no matter WHAT cycle - delicate, jeans, whites, etc. I will NEVER purchase GE appliances again. We cannot even have a conversation while the thing is spinning. Terrible.
I am sitting at home and missed a day of work because the GE Appliance Repair Tech was to be here 10/24/17 between 8am to 12pm. I called the service number at 11:50am and they told me that they could not do anything until after 12pm. I called at 12:15pm and I was on hold for over 3 hours. Finally GE called and said that their tech could not make it and, "He has been trying to call you." I told GE that the tech didn't call my cellphone because I have been on hold with them for over 3 hours and I am still on hold with them on the other line. The other number that was on my ticket was my work number. You may ask yourself how is it that someone in their right mind who has an appointment at someone's home to repair their dryer would call their work number. I will let you know when I return to work tomorrow if the tech called me at work and what time if any!
This is totally unacceptable, unprofessional and dishonest as an organization. Also, the customer service rep that called me was just as bad because she told me that the tech said that he called me. She was adamant about the tech calling me. Why would I have stayed home and missed a entire day of work if I wasn't going to answer the phone? I rescheduled my appointment for Thursday 10/26/17 from 1pm to 5pm. By the way I just purchased the dryer on 9/9/17 and I have been without a dryer for over two weeks…what's another week. I would love for GE to give me a call about this situation! I am awaiting their call! I will let you know how the appointment goes on Thursday, 10/26/17.
My 3 year old GE front loader died a couple of weeks ago. The service technician said the timer had failed and would need to be replaced. He informed me that he ordered the part and it should ship to my home in 3-5 business days. It never arrived so I followed up with GE. They told me that there was no record of a part being ordered. They ordered the part again and told me it should arrive in 3-5 day. Waited a week, still no part. Called yet again to complain but all they could do was contact dispatch and have someone call me. Never heard from them either. This has been a very frustrating experience. I'm without a machine for over 2 weeks and I have 3 kids! I will once again be inconvenienced by having to wait for another technician. I'm disappointed that the timer died after only 3 years and now dealing with an incompetent customer service team.
The GE dryers (which I didn’t realize at time of purchase!) are all made with a “defect”! The inside of the door at top inside, is not smooth! There are many crevices that catch the clothes while drying and burn, tear, rip, and hold the clothing inside one of many crevices while the dryer is turning!!! Hundreds of my clothes, pillowcases etc. have been ruined!! I bought a new dryer today (not a GE!!), and I physically inspected each and every brand they had (6 different brands, 16 dryers!). EVERY SINGLE GE HAD THE SAME CREVICES INSIDE TOP OF DOOR!! NONE OF THE OTHER BRANDS... NONE are with ANY CREVICE!! Every single brand is smooth!!! All other brands besides GE are smooth inside top of door! GE owes me a refund and needs to recall all dryers and learn to make a dryer!
I purchased a new GE front load dryer from Lowe's in June 2017. Every time we used we smelled gas outside by the vent intermittently. Had the service tech out for it and of course the smell wouldn't show up. He gave some recommendations to reduce some elbows (8) in the exhaust as it was possibly exhaust smell but pipes clean and airflow strong. I know the difference between gas and the exhaust smell... As of today 10-13-17, we now are getting the exhaust smell. I've reduced the elbows in the rigid exhaust and find no lint buildup whatsoever. I'm baffled on how the smell could be happening if the ducts are clean and airflow strong unless it's built up in the dryer. Calling service tech again today. A new dryer shouldn't have these problems. Stay away from GE people.
Bought Model GTW460ASJWW July 2016, impossible to keep it in balance. Sounds like a locomotive approaching in the spin cycle. If you select a delicate cycle for gentle laundry, hardly moves during wash cycle, but spins so hard you have to peel clothes off wall of machine. Purchased at Lowe's, called them first time shortly after purchase when it danced across floor and cut off. Explained the loud noise, and appliance rep stated "that's your government's fault". I am a nervous wreck every time I wash. Stand there during spin cycle holding each front corner and afraid it's going to come apart one day.
It seems you get no help from Lowe's once product is purchased. No more GE, no more appliances from Lowe's. Additionally, Lowe's printout of register receipt is so pale it will eventually fade and be unreadable. I made enlarged, darker copies for proof of my 3 year warranty purchased. It would be to Lowe's advantage to listen more carefully to customer complaints and attempt to help customer's resolve problems, and possibly not carry GE appliances.
Bought the new washer (GTW460ASJ6WW) on 7-9-2017. Here it is 9/19/2017 and it won't work. I have to wait three weeks for a service call. I bought this at Lowe's and they will not help either since it is beyond thirty days. Why doesn't GE care about their reputation? Why would you not take care of a customer with a less than three month old machine that isn't working??? My advice do not buy GE if you want a company that stands behind their products.
Within 7 mos the motor goes out on Hotpoint dryer that was purchased in Feb, 2017. (Aug 20) Serviceman puts in new motor. 3 weeks later, motor goes out again. Replaced with 2nd motor and it does not work. Another week later, still nothing. I was under the impression he was ordering another motor, but that did not happen. Serviceman expected 9/23/17. He won't have a motor so that means another week. Over a month and GE cannot repair dryer. I have requested a new dryer be delivered. No one will respond! Have talked to several people, but I am only referred to the Consumer Support phone # and I get nowhere with any of the GE personnel. Don't expect the big Corporation of GE to be of any assistance if you receive a product that is poor workmanship!
I decided to buy a new washer and dryer because mine was 21 years old. I had to have a machine that has an agitator so, GE had a deal on and I bought the set... model number GTW460ASJ0WW... The first day it was delivered it leaked and would not work. Then it would not turn on at all. Called GE. They sent a repairman, who replaced the motherboard. Up to today I've had the machine almost a year and have had to call the repair guy in 8 times...
Damn machine has me so upset, washer fills with water and won't wash, won't drain. I have to bail out water with a milk jug. When it works hey it washes better than most but you don't even hardly have a chance to use the wash cycle! I hate this machine... Repair guy is coming again next week sometime, I am demanding a new machine this time. So sick of this and I'm easy on my machine, light loads, I'm single so I do 1-3 loads on weekends. I strongly advise that you not buy this machine. Spend the $2,000.00 or even $4,000.00 and get a proper set! I'll never buy GE again!
Not thrilled with the GE Profile line but particularly the dryer that has been shedding its skin down to bare metal for a few years now... The washing machine that sits right next to it is fine. Just a very strange occurrence and shame on me for not addressing it with appliance paint etc...
I bought the GE Direct Drive with my new house. I have had no issues for 18 months. Repairman came in and found all screws holding the magnet to the could lose. One fell in and due to could going around damaged coil. A machine like this should not have issues after 18 months. GE has a serious quality control issue. Overall good washer that works well.
GE and their products are definitely not what they used to be. We purchased top load washer GE GTWN4250DWH 2 years ago to replace the Kenmore which also used to be a good product in old days but not anymore. The reason we purchased it that it had good features and the water level that you can control yourself which is hard to find in these days (not sure why manufactures think if you just wet your laundry it will come out clean). The machine was working fine for the first year and after that the electronic board started to act up: sometimes it works on some cycles and sometimes it does not!
We called GE to see what can be done since machine is only 2 years old and in the past they used to last 10-15 years or even longer and of course we had been told since we do not have an extended warranty we are pretty much on our own. It's like they know that their products are junk after the first year or two and forcing you to buy extended warranty. First, we did schedule an appointment with GE to come and fix it but the more we thought how they do not stand behind their product and who knows what can break next we decided to cancel the service call and purchased Speed Queen top load washer that has great reviews and comes with 3 years manufacture warranty, I guess they do stand behind their product. Do not think we will be purchasing anything else made by GE.
I begin experiencing problems that I notice with my GE Top Load washing machine last year. When I notice little holes in my tops (blouses, tees, etc). I didn't realize how bad it was until an inspection of my clothing turned up this problem in the same spot, lower middle of the article. I googled this problem and I saw where I was not the only one experiencing it. I have had my machine for at least 5 years and I'm sure GE will not make any adjustments but I want other buyers to know what will happen if they purchase this machine, model # GTWN4250D0WS.
GE washer model number gfws3505lms - Thank Goodness no one can buy this. It's been discontinued. It's garbage!! Mine is only 2 1/2 years old and it will not run. The power comes on but the door will not lock and it just starts counting down the time in seconds. Had the repairman in and it cost me 90 bucks to be told it would cost me $600 to fix it!!! **!!! Don't EVER EVER EVER EVER BUY A PRODUCT FROM GE!!!
GE 4.8 Cu Ft Top Load Washer GTW485BMKWS - We have had our GE Washer for 8 months and within the first four months it started to experience many problems. The warranty service folks have fixed it three times already and are coming back next week for the fourth time. The transmission and computer board has been replaced. They are replacing the drain hose next week and a belt has been replaced. It seems to have problems even washing four towels at a time without draining or starting. I think the computer board or sensing unit has a problem because it is unable to adjust to some loads.
We have lost hope and GE seems very eager to constantly send the repair folks until the warranty expires in 4 months. The repair person told us that he repairs this same model several times a week and we do not even live in a large city - population of 72,000 so the model must be quite problematic. I wrote to GE public relations and they just replied stating the GE Appliances was sold to Haier last year - I would strongly recommend avoiding this brand.
I have the washer and dryer for more than 14 year and continue like is was new. Without a doubt, the equipment it is a helpful part in our life. On the other hand, I recommend GE appliances.
I purchased a GE frontload Right Height washer 7/24/15. Model GFWR2700H1WW. When they delivered the washer they could not install because it was defective. I waited 3 weeks for 2nd washer to be installed. This washer began having problems a few weeks ago. It is so load in the spin cycle, it vibrates my walls. It sounds like a jet. I am afraid something dangerous could happen if I keep using it. A GE repair tech diagnosed it as needing a new tub and bearings. The labor alone is $505. The parts are over $600. GE said they would waive the parts cost but the labor charge is equal to a new machine. These parts are defective. They are no fault of mine. I have taken good care of this washer. These parts should last more than 2 years.
GE will only offer a new machine for $829 or repair for $505. This is unacceptable. This machine was made in China. Now they supposedly make them in the US. If this machine has been improved in the last couple of years they should repair these defective parts free of charge or replace the machine. If this company wants satisfied customers they should offer products that last more than 2 years. I will never buy GE again. You lost me as a customer. I will recommend you to no one!
I purchased this washing machine GE Model GLWN2800D1WS for my mother because it was a simple top loader and she is up in age. Lowe's is where I purchased it and they passed me off to GE who couldn't care less whether I was happy or not with the machine. After reimbursement for the clothes the machine ruined by chewing them up. They still never fixed the machine. After a second tech came out the solution he had given me was "not to put any good clothes in the machine." Now after not being willing to replace the machine it is making a horrible noise when it runs the spin cycle and now leaking on the floor from somewhere other than the hoses. Bottom Line... I will never, ever purchase another GE product. I will also not purchase any expensive appliance from Lowe's. They can't be bothered with customer service.
GE GFW450SSKWW Front Load Washer - This is the biggest piece of junk and I suggest you don't buy one, a brand new front loading washer and dryer that has issues the very first day! The washing machine's pump hums so loud I can hear it upstairs, and the dryer door is misaligned and does not close without lifting it up to meet the latch. The clothes are wet when the spin cycle is finished beyond what is expected of a normally functioning washing machine, so I called the first day to set up a service appointment only to have six unsolicited e-mails and calls from customer service individuals who think they can diagnose a problem over the phone.
FYI, I am an Engineer and when I suggest we have a problem then we have a problem. The icing on the cake was a phone call from service at five p.m. on Friday from "Amanda" saying that she was canceling my appointment and had to reschedule? Rude, condescending and lacking professional decorum defines the conversation! Run and do not even consider this company or product, take my word for it!
I bought GE 460 model. Had machine less than 1 month and I am returning it. Machine cuts off and doesn't complete washing cycle. Today I have been trying to wash the same load of clothes for over 3 hours and it keeps stopping. VERY DISSATISFIED AND DISAPPOINTED with this purchase. Turned me off from GE products for life. Waste of money and time.
I have had this washer (GE front loader GFW680SPKDG) for about a month, and I'm extremely disappointed. So much so that I'm going to contact the local appliance store that I bought it from and see if I can trade it on the Speed Queen that I was contemplating buying when I bought this one. After a lot of research on front loaders and GE (I have 4 other GE appliances that I have been very happy with, and researched this model washer prior to buying)... I opted for this machine. So far, I have had some loads taking 2 HOURS longer to wash as it will keep resetting the time during the cycle. Some loads come out very wet. The fabric softener dispenser is full of water after most loads that I do (caused by "natural siphoning" when the load spins out), so I have to use paper towels to suck up the water to put more in the dispenser for the next load. Oh, and it's been leaking from the left rear of the machine during some loads.
So before contacting the store I bought it from to get a repair person out, I read my owners manual. All of these are "NORMAL". I am using HE detergent, recommended amount. It's normal for the cycle to take longer if it has to reset due to "unbalancing". I bought a front loader instead of a top loader to minimize the unbalancing problem. If I use too much detergent, it will leak from the left rear of the machine. I am putting the right amount in the dispenser and using HE detergent. Sometimes the loads don't spin all the water out (which again is "normal"), so in that case just hit drain and spin to spin out again. Hmmm. I already waited an extra hour for the cycle to finish. And now I have to wait longer to get it to spin out properly?
Unfortunately, when doing my research, I did not come across this website because I did not see any bad reviews for this particular model washer, which is what I put in the search engine when researching. Hopefully someone considering this washer will see this and think twice. And reading over and over again how bad their customer service is will really make me reconsider ever buying an appliance from GE again, despite being happy with the other GE appliances I have. Wake up corporate America. People are tired of spending our hard earned dollars on your products and getting crap and attitude when you don't stand behind your product.
I purchased a GE Stacked Laundry Unit from Lowe's. The first few times I used it, I knew something was wrong with it. So I called GE, they sent a tech from GE to look at it. I explained to him how terrible the machine sounded when I turned it on. It sounded like it was going to blow up any minute. The tech took the front panel off, looked at it for a second and said there's nothing wrong with it. It's supposed to sound like that. He was there for less than 5 minutes. So I had to trust he knew what he was doing, since he was a GE technician.
The machine sounded so bad that I couldn't do laundry when I was home. It was terribly loud. Well it happened. It leaked all over my floor, causing me to now replace the floors, in my brand new home. Repairman came and looked at the machine, said it will be $1,300 to fix because there are so many things wrong with it. He agrees that the machine was faulty from the start. GE doesn't care. It's out of warranty and it doesn't matter to them. They offered to sell me a new machine, the same one, at a discounted price. I am extremely unhappy with GE. They should stand behind their products. This machine was used for a year and a half. Doing laundry for the first year for one person, a girl. So clearly it's lightly used. I wish GE would do something, replace my washer or pay to have my floors fixed. So angry and upset.
Do not buy anything from GE. I bought a top load GE washer last year and the electronic control board failed within a year. I got an endless runaround from the company until the retailer finally intervened on my behalf and got it repaired on warranty. That all took weeks, during which my family had to use a commercial laundry. Less than three months later, the control board has failed again in exactly the same way. GE will do nothing about this except offer a small discount on the (obviously faulty) part and charge me for installing it.
What a great racket: sell people defective junk, then charge them over and over for "repairing" it with the same faulty electronics. Quite separately, during the few months it actually worked, it vibrated violently and walked all over the place, in spite of being perfectly level and very carefully loaded to equalize the weight. GE is defrauding the public. If we had anything resembling consumer protection in this country they would be forced out of business.
I am very dissatisfied with my purchase of GE Top Loading Large Basket Washer... My Washer sounded like an explosion had happened in Spin Cycle! Waiting on Parts... Spent so far at Laundromat 140$ so far! My Washer is only a year old! Don't Buy One Of These Washers!!! I wish I had read the reviews here first! Then I Would Not Own this Washer!!!
I bought a GE washer model # GTW330ASK0WW, serial# HG107380G. It never worked. When I press start the machine fills to required level then starts to wash for 5 seconds and then shuts down. Give it a few minutes and press start again. It washes for 5 seconds and it shuts down again. Ok so I put it on spin and the pump comes on and drains out the water, it starts to spin and in 5 seconds it shuts down. All led lights go blank but lid lock led remains on. I know someone who bought one and the same thing happens out of the box. Can any technician tell me if it is the timer or motor causing this problem? We need Ge to put up a video on youtube showing us how to repair their machines.
GE stackable washer/dryer model#GUD27ESMJWW - Less than a month after purchasing my washer/dryer from Lowe's in Newmarket, the motor stopped working. Appliance services came out to advise that I had a defective motor and the part would have to be ordered. 2 weeks later they notified me the part was in and Appliance services said they would "fit me in." The second time the repairman came out the motor was installed but the "light was flashing." I was told the IT would have to be called to obtain a "code." I stated that I was obviously sold a lemon and wished to exchange the product for another. The repair said GE would never do this! So I am waiting for a call from Lowe's to return this manufacturer defect. I will never get the same product. Don't ever buy the GE stackable! I bought it because I thought it was made in America but they are going to have to convince me in future that American products are worth it.
From day one this GE washer, model # GTW330ASK0WW, jumped up & down, moved to the right and left and forward during spinning. GE sent me 4 pads to install under the legs as it looks like they knew about its lemon washer. That helped a bit for very light loads. But for bulky and heavy loads the washer goes crazy with loud scary noise. It has broken 2 of my refrigerators handles so far and has created deep dents on its side and upper frames.
GE sent its own technician on 7/28/17 and he installed new legs and removed the old ones along with the 4 rubber pads sent to me in the first week of purchase. Since the tech installed new legs and removed the rubber pads, the washer goes more crazy and will than before and turn around to the point that put strain on the hot and cold lines connected to the valves, plug in electrical wire and drainage hose. Although it is still under warranty, GE is not willing to exchange it for a new one and is sending another technician to look at it next week. I have taken both pictures and videos while it is jumping up and down and move like a mad cow and would probably ends up in court before it explodes as Samsung's did. I have no doubt that GE is fully aware of this problem due the fact they have designed new legs for it and provide customers with rubber pads to be installed under the legs to lessen the movement. Do not buy this model for free!!!!
Updated on 09/08/2017: GE has sent his technicians 3 times and they have not been able to fix it. The last technician told me the machine needs new shocks. GE emailed me and gave me an offer that they would fix it if I pay for the labor while they would send the part. This situation has been going on for 11 months while the machine vibration and movement has caused damages to my neighboring refrigerator and upper and lower part of the washer. Once it moved so much, during rinse and spin sounding like a jet engine noise, that ripped off the hot water line and caused flooding on the garage floor.
The customer relation service is very dishonest and unreliable. The contractors are in cahoot with GE. They set me up with Saddleback appliance 2 times and Saddleback refused to do the job for them. I called the company while waiting for their service tech to come and I was told 2 times that they do not with GE anymore. Most probably because they did not want to be pushed around and to be dishonest and unfair to the customer. Finally I took the matter to small claim court for now and I am hoping that it goes to a class A action in the future.
My new GE gas dryer has ruined every set of white sheets, my husband's golf shorts and expensive white jeans and tops. White clothes come out of the dryer with black grease marks and GE claims it's the result of sand in the dryer. If the washer washed there would not be sand in the dryer. I have never dried a bathing suit, towel or sock without washing it first. My husband & I are seniors so rest assured, we are bringing a lot of sand home. I have owned & used dryers for 30 plus years and have never had this outcome when drying whites. It's ludicrous that a brand new dryer can ruin your clothes and GE Appliances, a brand of Chinese conglomerate Haier could care less. So much for consumer satisfaction.
My washer starts to make a fancy noise and I call the warranty of my washer is from 2016 January. I'm so frustrated because from February until today 07/28/2017 they are not resolved this matter. Can you believe are they send me 2 different companies and is unbelievable the way they handles this. What happens with the quality of the products. Where is the customer’s satisfaction. Is that the way the big companies steal the consumer’s money??? Who help us from this people!!! When somebody will do something about this!!!
I purchased a GE Profile Harmony washing machine #PTWN8050MWW only 5 years ago. The top loading area is already rusted, around the part that the bleach is loaded and all around the rim. I do not use bleach and I always leave it open to dry after each use. I tried calling customer service at GE and they suggested that I sand and paint the rusted area, that is not an option for me. I have never had a washer that rust like this and painting is not going to solve the issue. Very disappointed that GE did not offer any options that were fair or acceptable to me. I will not be purchasing and of their appliances.
Washer bangs and walks across room. They have been out 4 times so far. Replace drum. Still banging. They say they will keep coming out til warranty expires. So I have to be here every time. How many times should I have to do this before they just replace it.
Less than 2 yrs ago, I purchased a GE Topload washer, GTW460ASJ3 (WW). This appliance has got to be the worse washer I have ever had. The problems with the washer are numerous: 1. Water levels that don't cover clothes unless you load less than a normal load. While there is a setting for "Super" and "Precise fill," neither seem sufficient. 2. The tub never fully fills, even on Super. In short a large load is not large at all. Again requiring the necessity of loading a smaller load than one would thing. 3. Nos 1 & 2 create both a time and financial issue. Washing smaller loads means more time to do laundry, plus the cost of using more water.
4. Clothes don't get clean. Even "white" article of clothing I own is now gray... every single sock is gray, pants, shirts, blouses. EVERYTHING. It's as if dirt is being redeposited on the clothes. Other soiled/stained articles of clothing, come out just as they did prior to washing. It does not matter the stain; outside dirt, oil food, whatever. There is some luck if you work on the spot/stain prior to washing, but removal just by washing is a bust. 5. Locking lid. At some point in the wash/spin cycle, the lid locks. No effort will release the lid, if for no other reason than to check the "health" of the load. 6. It appears that at the end of the wash cycle, the washer drains and rinses at the same time... Not sure that's possible, but it happens.
I call customer service to get some advice, as well to see if they could offer a remedy. I was asked/ told to, change detergent, add a water conditioner, add a water softener tank (as if), make smaller loads, sort clothes by color, add bleach to whites (of course doing this regularly breaks down cloth) all of the things anyone would consider doing.
"Customer Care" offered to send a technician, offering to cover any parts, but assigned the service call to me. This offer is not helpful. Why should I have to pay for a faulty appliance? Furthermore, I am certain that the reason GE offers to pay for parts and not the service fee is because, at the end of the day, this is a bad, faulty appliance, so there won't be a need to replace parts; however, the service "visit" is a given. The bottom line is that am left with higher than average monthly water bills because I have to wash smaller loads, the need to replace clothing, the need to replace a practically new washer because I have a washer that does not perform. My advice to anyone considering this product/product line is DON'T DO IT!!!
I have purchased several washers and dryers under different names but they were all made by Whirlpool. I have never seen such garbage in my life! The dryer door handles break and they aren't covered by warranty. Why would they be when they charge $50 each for them. What a cash cow they have made for themselves. The door latch is stronger than the hooks and tabs that hold the handle to the door. They break, the handle falls off and you have to buy another one. $50 is simply crazy for that little piece of plastic. Their washing machines aren't any better. You can start the machine but it won't keep running. I have to stop it, unplug it for 60 seconds and restart it. It works for a little while then stops. Sometimes it just sets and soaks and never does start again.
I'm sick of these machines. The dumb lawmakers in this country are making manufacturers build machines that use little or no water. How do you clean clothes with no water? You don't! It's too bad Whirlpool is making everyone's machines. There used to be competition among the manufacturers and now that Whirlpool is making everyone's junk, there is no competition. Their customer service is the worst and I will never buy another Whirlpool manufactured appliance ever again! LG is looking pretty good!
GE Dryer Model DCVH480EK0WW - When drying clothes the dryer just wads them in a big wad if there is more than 2-3 items. Forget sheets. They just ball up in a big ball and are wet on the inside of the ball. The dryer keeps items wadded together and causes extra wrinkles. The clothes take FOREVER to dry as well even when drying a standard load from the matching washer. Do yourself a favor. Don't purchase this dryer.
This the worse product I have ever purchased. I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before spending so much money. The prior reviews have said it all. Shame on GE. So sad that the consumer is held hostage to the manufacturer as well as the retailer, Lowe's. No one cares. I have been telling everyone I know and some I do not. Lowe's replaced another machine, a GE, not the same style, after much agitation, with this one which I chose. This review is on the G006. Torn clothes and expensive sheets. Clothes that smell after washing. I cannot afford it!!!
Bought GE washer mod. GTW460ASJ4WW 11/22/16. It quit running 7 months later. This machine will not let you wash the way you want to. It takes forever to do a small load. The water levels are a joke. Too many dials and settings. What happened to just load size, water temp, and wash cycle, keep it SIMPLE! We called GE for a warranty repair. That took almost a week to have them look at it. So far we have waited 3 weeks for the parts that they think they need. Meantime bought a older used Amana that has 3 dials and works great. We will never buy another GE appliance. The products are junk and the warranty service is terrible. I bet that the people who design these washers have never had to do laundry for a family. They don't a have a clue. Why would you need a washer with a computer?
What a lot of folks seem to not understand is that buying a different brand washer will not solve the problems. The root of the problem is (1) The EPA regulations and government bureaucracy will not allow any manufacturer to make a washer that washes clothes properly, (2) There are only a scant few actual manufacturers of appliances, most are made by the same companies with different names, (3) We are sold on the idea of "features" and electronics on appliances - (and vehicles - but don't get me started there) that we do not really need and cause us nothing but trouble and expense, and (4) The manufacturers have sunk so much money in research and development to attempt to make a functioning washer that will meet government regs that the actual materials put into building them is cheap. I have been there, done that with electronic front load Kenmore (made by Whirlpool).
As stated by someone else, I would not spend my money on any new washer except maybe a Speed Queen, not sure how badly the new ones are affected by government rules, though. I solved my problem by picking up good working 15-25 year old basic top-loader washers. I can usually fix them myself, and parts seem to still be readily available. Used to be, you went to Sears, bought a new top-load basic washer, it lasted trouble-free for 10-15 years, maybe longer, when it broke, you went back to Sears, bought another that lasted 10-15 years, repeat. Now you pay $1000.00 or more for one, lucky if it lasts a year with no problems.
After two and a half years of owning a GE Washer (model gtwn4250d0ws), my second one because I listen to my husband. The first one had issues. The second one has a broken mode shifter. Repairman was out today and quoted more money than I wanted to spend to fix it. However, I will not ever recommend a GE Washer and even the repairman said, "Steer clear away from this brand". My problem first started with a loud grinding type noise and the drum was not spinning. This is very disappointing to spend this much money for two and a half years of use, GE needs to do something to better their appliances instead of sell junk to consumers.
DO NOT BUY! Top load GE washer with no agitator. This is the worst design ever. Clothes do not get clean, in fact half the clothes on top are still dry never even get wet. Everything is all in knots no matter what size the load is. The clothes end up in one side of the washer and it shakes like Elvis Presley. It also walks across the room. In order to get clean clothes I have it set to deep fill every time and add an extra spend every time. I cannot leave my home if I have a load of clothes in the washer. I am so disappointed. This is the first new washer I have had in many years!!!
Do not buy GE products because I am in the maintenance field and our company bought all GE appliances and we have an astronomical amount of these cheap made appliances that don't last as long as the warranty carries out and it cost a ton in parts and time consumed in just trying to have a working appliance. This company has shamed America and should be a lawsuit on them for fraud due to the sale of overpriced products made to not last. Parts are cheaply made and price is outrageous to replace or fix. Shame on GE, they have sold out America!!!
Purchased machine on 6/15/2015. In December, 2016, the machine made a very loud whining sound, then stopped working. It would not even turn on! The resulting repair was to replace the motherboard and another repair to the pump. I was without the machine for 2 weeks. This repair cost me half of the cost of the machine. I paid it, because when this machine works, it cleans very well, and has lots of options. Six months later, June, 2017, the machine fails again. Again, it lets out a loud whining noise, and the basket will not rotate. It was diagnosed today as either the motor, or a board that controls the motor. The replacement part/s will take another week to arrive! I signed up for an extended warranty program after the first repair, but using this extended warranty makes the repair take so much longer! I now hate this washing machine!
Top Line GE Monogram Clothes Washer is Practically Useless. For 2 years I've been thinking. I'm washing clothes in this machine but nothing ever smelled clean and clothes looked older with each wash. Yesterday I pulled up a stool, washed clothes all day and watched everything the machine did and didn't do. The water level doesn't cover the clothes and during the wash cycle it just slowly moves clothes back and forth across a plastic arm at the bottom of the tub which just rubs the same spot on each garment. This rubbing is not sufficient to actually clean the entire item and the soapy water doesn't penetrate through the entire garment. It spends more actual time "Sensing" and "Filling" and "Spinning" than it does washing.
I tricked it into filling over the tops of clothes but the swishing action was still slow and meager like wringer machines from the 1940's. Today I just tried to wash a thin, washable comforter and the machine simply filled with water (Using my trick), "Sensed" and right away proceeded to empty! It didn't even try to swish and wash even though it was on a "Comforter" setting. It "Rinsed" the same way (Twice) and I realize now that for anything except t-shirts and shorts, I'll need to wash by hand or continue to just wet clothes, leave accumulated soap still in the fabric and call it clean. I had a Kenmore with an up and down chugging action for 30 years and it was far better than this expensive tank. I realize the GE appliances are all pretty much deemed trash by the consumers which says a lot about today's engineers. I wish I had my old Kenmore back from Goodwill!
Didn't seem to care. Yes I have had GE top load big basket washer for over 1 yr and 3 services. Basket is out of sync with computer. They even put a bracket in it to control basket. No luck and still out of sync with computer. 1 load takes 1 1\2 hrs, when machines says time should be 60 mins. Totally disgusted. It is out of warranty with GE. But I bought extended warranty from Sears for 2 yrs. So now Sears has to come and service it and GE didn't seem to care. I am contacting Better Business Bureau next. I hate these new washers. Wish I had my old one that ran a cycle in 1\2 hr.
I was under the impression that GE was reputable company and that they manufactured solid products. As a result I purchased a GE stainless steel dishwasher, front load right height dryer (last month) and front load right height washing machine (2 yrs. ago). Last week my washing machine started making a sound that definitely indicated something had gone south. Sounded like a bad bearing type of noise. I called a local appliance repair guy and he took a look. He said he had bad news and really bad news (never a good scenario). Bad News - He said that a bearing had in fact gone bad. Really Bad News - It was going to cost almost as much to fix as it would be to buy a new washer. I spent $1399 for this washer from Home Depot. I was excited to get it and felt it would be a solid machine that would last years. WRONG!!! You would think a washer of this so called "caliber" would last longer than 2 yrs.
Regardless, I was positive GE would realize that this was an unacceptable result and thus certainly stand behind their product. I was wrong again... When I finally got in touch with someone from GE - don't even get me started on how frustrating that was. It's almost impossible to get through the maze of GE-CARES numbers etc. And when I finally did through to someone they could've cared less!!! In all of the frustration of not having a functioning washer it was the attitude of GE that was the kicker. And to think I purchased 3 high dollar appliances from this company. I think it's safe to say, my next purchase is NOT going to be a GE appliance!! I knew I should have gone with MAYTAG washer and dryer!!!
I recently purchased a GE Hotpoint Washing Machine HTW200ASKOWW Serial Number: RG162585H at Lowe's. We were looking at a Samsung Front Load but the salesman said that this machine wasn't any good because of a supposed fire risk. I'm not sure which is worse... allowing him to influence our purchase or the fact that we were stupid enough to buy it!!! We have had nothing but trouble with it. EVERY LOAD ends up leaving a white residue on the clothes that is next to impossible to remove.
At first I thought that it was caused by having towels in with other clothes but we separated them, making sure that there wasn't anything that would leave lint. Since I am writing this it obviously didn't work. I went online and read the different suggestions to prevent the residue... Again still writing, Didn't work. The other problem is that it doesn't wring the clothes out. There was so much water on the clothes that I was literally able to wring water out of them by hand. We had a Maytag Front Load that lasted for almost 20 years. We paid a good bit for it (at the time) but it was absolutely worth it!!! If this stops even 1 person from making the same mistake that we did when we bought this GE then it was well worth the time spent writing it!!!
We bought the washing machine in April 2012. The circuit board was replaced in 2015 and 2016--the unit was still under warranty. The warranty expired in April. Guess what? The circuit board is malfunctioning AGAIN! Of course, since it is conveniently out of warranty, no "lemon law" applies to it. I will have to pay to replace the circuit board--which may last another year if I'm lucky.
We purchased our GE top loading high efficiency washer from our local Sears one year ago on May 31, 2016. This is the worst washer EVER. Doesn't get your items clean. Doesn't stay balanced. Sheets come out all knotted up. Can't get enough water. A small load gives you 4" of water, a med load gives you 4-1/2" of water, a large load gives you 5" of water and a super size load gives you 6" of water. Seriously. And this is a washer with an extra deep tub? What's the point of an extra deep tub when you can only get 6" of water? I paid $539 for the washer and an additional $169 for a 3-yr warranty through Sears. Never buy a warranty through Sears, but that's a whole other story.
So, we've got $813 w/ tax, wrapped up in this washer. We have a water softener, our hot water tank is turned up much higher than normal, and I use good detergent, so there's no good reason this washer won't clean our laundry. But ALL of our laundry stinks... clothing, towels, bedding, you name it, it stinks. It doesn't even feel clean... it feels just slightly greasy. My guess is it doesn't get all of the detergent out. Anyway, in the first year of ownership, the Sears repair tech has been here 6 times. GE has sent someone out here twice. I keep telling them I don't want the washer... it's the design of the machine that's no damn good.
Here's how it works: I set the washer on a super size load, on hot water, with a 2 hour soak, and I use the heavy whites cycle because that's the longest running cycle on that machine, and I set it on a deep rinse or a second rinse and start the washer. Add detergent and put the clothes in. It twists the clothes around for a few minutes, and stops, so it can sit through the 2 hour soak. When 2 hours is up, the machine starts washing. It gets through the cycle and shuts off. Throw your clothes in the dryer, and when they're dry, you hang them up. Oops, that shirt is stained.. .pre-treat it and set it aside. Oops, another stain. Pre-treat it and set it aside. Fold some socks, etc. Oops, another stained shirt. Pre-treat it and set it aside. Nearly every single time I wash. So, I virtually have this pile of stained laundry that I have to re-wash. And usually re-wash for the third time.
Just how efficient is a washer when you are doing your laundry over and over and over and over?? Sears will not stand behind this machine. The only thing GE will do is replace the machine, so since we paid for it on a credit card, I called the credit card company. They said the machine is a year old so they can't do anything about this particular machine, but if I let GE replace it with a new machine, they might be able to do something about it. So, that's the next step.
If the credit card company cannot get our $813 back so I can go elsewhere and buy a NON HIGH EFFICIENCY machine, I'll haul the washer out to be junked and chalk it up to a lesson learned. Never shop at a Sears (not hard to figure out why Sears are closing all over the place), never buy a Sears warranty because they're worthless, and NEVER buy a GE appliance. I cannot believe that two companies as well known as Sears and GE have turned their back on customers this way. Shame on them.
I bought the washer and dry machine on December 2016 on Lowe's. On the first month I had problems I think was normal because I change from different brand and system. I call to Lowe's because was a month old. They did not help me and for almost 2 months still had problems again - just stopped working, wouldn't fill or finish the cycle, make noise, lock in lock, it's so crazy. I read the reviews and is the same problem. I recommend to the company General Electric replace the whole washers. I'm not interesting had those problems again.
We purchased this stacked washer dryer unit (GUD27ESSJ0WW) as a result of needing to accommodate a tight space in our laundry room. We needed to have the washing machine serviced within the first year of owning it due to motor issues. Although, we like the size, we would have hoped for more durability out of this machine than we have received. It is now, just out of warranty, and stopped working but then came back on a week later. Have not had much luck with appliances purchased within the last two years.
I purchased a Top Load GE washer in Nov 2016. It is now May and it has been dead for the past four weeks. Three weeks for a repairman to arrive with a broken part. Two more days for a different repairman to 'fix' it. Put a load of laundry. Washer lasted long enough to soak clothes and quit yet again. 100% do NOT recommend purchasing a GE product. Customer service is extremely poor.
I bought an electric dryer 7/4/16 from Lowe's along with a 3 year extended warranty for it. I've had it for 10 months and it completely quit working. It will not do anything. My husband checked our house breakers along with the electrical outlet it was plugged in to, nothing wrong there. I still have the receipt with the number on it to call for the warranty.
I called on 5/12/17, to be told that it takes 3 business days to process claims but that since it was less than a year old it would be a manufacturer warranty. They would have to contact GE. I was told to call back on Monday since this was on a Friday. I called back on Monday and they told me they couldn't tell me anything because the 3 business days wouldn't be up until Wednesday because Friday isn't counted as a business day. Not sure why not!?! I asked them for the number for GE to call them directly.
I called GE on Wednesday and they told me there weren't any service techs in our area but they had 48 hours to look for one. I was told they referred it to a service subcontractor by the name of Service Power to try and find a service tech. I called Service Power and they said they had no request from GE to find a service tech for our area and that I am not supposed to contact them. It is supposed to come from GE. I called GE back and was told that it showed I had a service call on 5/16/17. I was home all day and nobody came to my house, let alone call me to set anything up. Not sure how they could show I had a service call when Service Power was the subcontractor and Service Power said they had no referral for it? I asked GE that since there was not a service tech in our area to replace it. I was informed that was not possible until I called and talked to their customer relations dept and they were not open on the weekends.
So now I am having to wait until Monday to talk to GE customer relations for I'm sure another run around. I have gotten the run around from GE, Lowe's extended warranty program company and Service Power with which no one knows what the other is doing. Nobody can give me an answer on when a service tech can come out or when it will be replaced. I will NEVER buy another GE product again. This is ridiculous!
I made the mistake of purchasing and washer WHRE5550K2WW. This piece of garbage stopped the agitation and spin cycles. After trying to fix it based on the VOLUME of negative reviews we realized that clearly GE feels we are all rich and can afford to throw away $600. PLUS the service fees of a technician to tell us it will cost more to repair than replace. GE - Happy to share your poor quality across social media. Your products and quality have caused me to never recommend or buy from you again.
My mother just purchased a top load GE Washer from JC Penney's. She started her first load of wash and the machine was bouncing all over the place. We thought maybe too many clothes but that wasn't the problem. Nothing we have done with stop this machine from vibrating and moving around. We went to JC Penney's and they sent out a tech. He said it's level and will send out a new machine. We filled this machine up (no clothes) and switched the machine to "drain and spin". Remember there are NO clothes in this washer and this machine was vibrating and shaking her floor so bad we thought it would fly out of the laundry room. If this next machine does not work out we're going back to JC Penney's and telling them to come and get this JUNK. My poor mom is 89 years old and just wants to wash clothes!!!
I bought a GE washer the same model I had before in a year. It has broke 3 time. The control panel and the spindle in the middle keeps eating my shirt towels, etc. spreading my clothes. I'm fed up and they are not help. The machine is a defect and they keep repairing a machine that is a piece of **... I'm tired of it eating my good clothes.
I purchased a GE front loading washer from Sears in Oct '15. In Jan '16 it stopped working (wouldn't fill or finish cycle, just lock and unlock door). Called Sears, they came and fixed it. About 4 months go by, and AGAIN, it has the same problem; this time I called GE. They sent a repairman out, they had to order parts, came back a few days later fixed it. End of Aug early Sep '16 it had the SAME DAMN PROBLEM, called GE again, they came out and had to order parts, few days later fixed it. Jan '17 SAME DAMN PROBLEM called, they gave me a letter of commitment came out, ordered parts, fixed about a week later. Now, here we are, May 1st 2017 and I'm having, yup, THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM!
Contacted them again today, brought up how many times they've come out for the SAME problem and the girl, Valencia, said there was no record of my previous problems until Jan of this year! UTTER B.S. They are sending someone out again tomorrow. I WILL NEVER, EVER BUY A GE APPLIANCE AGAIN AND WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO NEVER BUY FROM THEM EITHER! In my opinion they should have replaced the whole damn washer instead of constantly wasting my time.
Washing machine has had 4 repairs in the time we have owned it. The machine is noisy, does not get clothes clean, tears sheets, towels, shirts, shorts and this are his quality garments. Machine vibrates and "walks" away from wall. We are a family of two in our early 60's. Not tough on clothes. I have just purchased another machine and am donating this one. It really is a disappointment. Shame on GE.
My last two washing machines & dryers have been made by GE. I have had trouble with knobs on dryers & washing machine timer, compression ring, & knob on both washing machines. Both washers are top load bought at Lowe's. I thought maybe there had been recall on washers so I visited Lowe's. The person gave me their parts store card. Boy that was a mistake. One knob cost me nearly $9 plus $7 shipping & took over a week to get. Found out later the timer & compression ring were also bad. I happened to think this was same thing I fixed on other GE washer. Where the slots in knob & timer meet are plastic & they crack out. I called GE parts this time & got a price. I thought the price sounded high so I went online & bought the same new part for about 1/2 of what GE asked for it. GE sells a piece of junk & then wants you to pay an inflated price for the defective part. I will have a hard time buying GE again especially from Lowe's.
I purchased a GE washer in 2000. It was great. If it was out of balance, it automatically, immediately self-corrected. I never had any problems with it. I wish I had it back. July 2015, after reading and hearing about the "new" agitatorless washers, I decided I had better get a new one with an agitator before they were no longer available. I bought another GE -- big mistake! I should have read this blog site before I bought one. The options indicated wash temps of: hot, warm, cold. Big lie. I called tech service, sent out a repair technician. He tells me that due to government regulations all washers are now required to have a sensor that controls how "hot" the water can be. The "hot" setting produces what I call "warm" water; the "warm" setting produces barely warm; and "cold" setting, is as it says "cold".
The tub will only fill half full -- another government regulation. Therefore, clothes wear out quicker due to not being able to move freely -- unless you only put about one-third a normal load. No energy efficiency there! Clothes don't come clean. The washer does not spin the wash water out -- just pumps it out and immediately starts running the rinse water! So, a good bit of the dirty wash water is mixed with the rinse water! Good grief! The agitator veins aren't attached to the agitator base. Long sleeve shirt sleeves or any other "strings" get wedged tightly under the veins. This happened several times -- the sleeve was tight and twisted under three of the veins. It took ten minutes to get them out! All clothes come out twisted and wrinkled. I used to hang clothes on the line in nice weather. No more, these have to be dried in the dryer to get the wrinkles out. No energy saving there.
The "out of balance" issue that many others complain about: OH MY GOSH! It bounces all across the floor!!! Scares you to death! Sounds like an earthquake. No matter how well you balance when you load the clothes, they won't be balanced when it is finally ready to spin -- after the rinse cycle. In March 2017, after only 20 months of use, I could deal with it no longer. As I began my research, I could see by this blog site that there was no point in calling GE (or Lowe's, it wasn't their problem).
After much research I found that the Speed Queen is the only washer that has HOT water, will run a FULL tub of water, spins the wash water out, and doesn't get out of balance. It cost $1000.00! At that point, I would have paid more! I bought one. I LOVE IT! It is a joy to do my laundry now. I can't wait to get a load to do. What to do with the GE? I wouldn't think about charging anyone for that piece of junk. I am giving it to someone who can't possibly purchase a new machine. I have pointed out the problems. They are ok with that. I hope they don't regret it.
Bought a new house and this house came with all GE products and the washer has been a disaster from the beginning. Every time I'm doing laundry the washing machine would just shake to a point where I thought there was an earthquake. I go in and I see the washing machine just shaking and moving itself across the room.
I call GE and someone comes out, tells me it had some bolts that weren't screwed in and yet the issue is still present. And until then I call 3 more times and 3 more technicians come by and cannot solve the problem. As frustrated as I am I call GE asking for a replacement because OBVIOUSLY this product is FAULTY from the beginning. They tell me another technician needs to come out and see that the product is unrepairable and I make an appointment and on the day of the appointment I get a phone call that the technician cannot come out today. I wasted my day and time for a technician that does not tell me ahead of time. I stay patient and they reschedule for the next day.
The technician comes the next day and tells me if I have no laundry in the machine there is no shaking but with laundry there is and that this shaking is normal. How is this normal? Am I supposed to do laundry with no clothes in the laundry machine? And he starts talking about how these "newer products" are not good as the older machines. And basically tells me I should have kept my old washer instead of buying a new one. And he leaves without fixing the machine.
I call GE (again) and tell them this product does not seem to be fixable. And they tell me they need to speak with the technician and they put me on hold and GE tells me that the technician did not see an issue with the machine and that it is just a "minor" shake. How is this a "minor" shake. I can feel the washer shaking from across the room! Obviously this isn't my first washer and my old washer. I had that machine for 10 years. NEVER did I experience a shake like that! I constantly tell them this is a faulty machine and this shaking is not normal and they deny it. I have ANOTHER appointment next week. Let's see what kind of excuses they make up this time! I have recordings of this machine. Sucks I can't upload them. Just take my advice and DO NOT PURCHASE GE! SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND STRESS!
GE Washing Machine GFWR2700HWW -- At the end of the cycle lots of water remains in tub and would have to run rinse/spin cycle. The machine would pause and NOT restart, and the basket clean cycle would not function. Repair technicians had no clue to reasons, except tub very sensitive to weight and balance. GE offered $100 rebate to buy new machine. Original price $1100. Will never buy GE again.
We purchased a new GE dryer in June 2016, delivered on July 1st. To date it was broken down twice and now it does not turn off and the thermostat must have gone out as well as it either does not get warm at all or the clothes are so hot you can't hold them. As it is a warranty issue you must use an "authorized" repairman, and it takes about two weeks for them to show up, diagnose the problem, then they leave and have to order parts (another week to two weeks). This is the worst product we have ever purchased and there should be a way to give a product negative stars. I will NEVER buy another GE product. All of the internal parts are made of plastic or neoprene. This product is JUNK.
I purchased a GE Infusor Washing Machine (top loader) in July 2011. Was told by sales person that this was an energy efficient washer and would save me money because it uses less water, blah, blah, blah. Well this machine has been nothing but a nightmare! You have to start the washer, add detergent, let the water run a bit, add clothes, one layer at a time until water is over top of all clothes. In between layering the clothes, you have to close the lid so machine runs. Clothes came out dirty because water never even touched them. They had white spots all over them. Had to rewash them. Also, the machine makes a swooshing noise when it washes. Sounds like it is falling apart.
Unfortunately, GE wouldn't do anything about it. I decided to accept the fact that I had purchased a piece of garbage. Then in 2013, the machine stopped working. GE service guy came out and told me the motor had gone out. $300.00. I should have told him to take his machine and put it where the sun doesn't shine. But, I purchased a new motor. The stupid machine has cost me nearly $700.00 and it doesn't clean the clothes. I cringe whenever I have to do a load of laundry. I just wish GE would give "us" some kind of rebate or refund of some kind. I purchased a Kenmore (which I should have bought instead of this crap). I am going to donate this one and just take my loss.
DO NOT BUY! Top load GE washer no agitator. I actually have not had any problems with my washer. My complaint is I can't believe they would actually put a wash like this in stores for sale. This is the worst design ever. Clothes do not get clean, in fact half the clothes on top are still dry never even get wet. Everything is all in knots no matter what size the load is. In order to get clean clothes I have it set to deep fill and extra rinse and heavy soiled so how can this be energy efficient??? Everything is made of plastic, they are all junk. We are getting ripped off by these companies and someone needs to do something. It is ridiculous to spend 600 to 900 on a washer that will last maybe 5 yrs if you're lucky! What the heck. Where has the quality and workmanship gone? Out the door I guess, it's really sad nobody cares anymore about their products only about how much $$ can they make.
In 2016 we purchased a top load. We came home with a water saver model. THAT washer wouldn't put more than 6 inches or so in the washer and after all of the cycles my husband's jeans would still be muddy on top and had hardly even gotten wet. We immediately returned that model and I found this GE top load model G188. I am very happy with its simple operation. It will fill up and wash a big load with plenty of water. My complaint is the 3 cycle choices: darks, whites or permanent press? What happened to a Gentle cycle? Who cares what color it is! All 3 cycles end up with shirt sleeves twisted like pretzels and entwined like braided. Nothing has been ruined yet, but I've yet to figure out the difference between the cycles and the manual is no help.
Owning this machine has been an absolute nightmare. We purchased this machine at the end of Dec 2016 and it has been nothing but trouble ever since. Since we purchased this machine, we had used it twice. Both times, the clothes came out soaking wet after the cycle. The third time we used it (mid-January), the machine sensed an imbalance and locked up. We called GE to troubleshoot and after a few unsuccessful attempts of trying to get the lid to release, they agreed to send a technician out.
The technician showed up and took less than 10 minutes to tell us that the issue was with the motherboard and that it needed to be replaced. We soon found out that they had no motherboard in stock and it would not be until the beginning of February before we could get a new one. This was a 3 week wait. We were unhappy as this is a brand new machine (around 1 month old) and it had already failed. After waiting the 3 weeks, the technician arrived and had the motherboard to change out of the machine. They changed the motherboard on the machine and it still did not work. They had no idea what was wrong with it.
We had to contact GE to finally get them to replace the machine as we had lost trust in the product. Unfortunately, even with this resolution, they said it would take another 2 weeks before they could deliver the washing machine. By this time, we were so frustrated with the product that our issue was escalated and we were speaking with a member from their office of the president. This is where the poor customer service truly escalates. We wait the two week period and see the delivery truck come with the new washing machine. They bring down the machine and unpack the box and the machine is dented and in such bad shape, that the delivery guys had said they aren't going to deliver the product because it won't work and it's pointless to install another defective machine.
At that point, we called the direct line to the member every day. Every day it went to his voicemail, and we left a message for him to call us back to discuss what the new solution would need to be. After all, we've already waited over 5 weeks for them to get us a working product. His voicemail always stated that he was in the office and that he would call back if we left a message. He never did. Eventually, we received a call from the delivery person to say that a replacement was available, but we had never received a call back to update us or even to let us know to call the regular support line letting us know that a replacement was on the way.
I've lost a lot of trust in GE as a company. It's very upsetting to see a company that used to have such great products and a great reputation to be treating their customers like this. I understand that a product can fail at any time because of all the parts that go into creating a product, but to not call a client back to at least offer an update is extremely upsetting and disrespectful. The amount of time that my family and I had put into this and the lack of courtesy that the company had offered towards our situation is very disrespectful and sounds like a company that only cares about the dollars and not about how their product and services can enrich a family's lives.
I purchased a GE Profile Washer and dryer a few years ago. Barely five years and had to have a repairman. Over $700 to repair clutch. Thought would last a while but couple years happened again. Paid again. Now last week it broke down again! This time they want over $1,000 to do repair! Seriously! I had my last GE washer for over 25 years and no repairs! My son took to his place did some minor upgrade and still has it running. For over 45 years was a faithful consumer of GE products. My husband at one point worked for GE. Had a great reputation. Now, I wouldn't touch another GE product. Most appliances today unfortunately are junk and cost a fortune. I was told by a salesman that most appliances only are meant to last at most 5 years! How sad is that! Is there any way to get compensation for such a very expensive washer that was touted as the best of the best!?
I purchased a washer and dryer from GE March of 2016. We have had service tickets on our washer 5 times and the washer continues to give us trouble. We have to go to the laundromat multiple times. GE products suck. I'm in the process of buying a home, in need of a stove and refrigerator. WHIRLPOOL, HERE I COME. GE, my family has been buying your product for more than 27 yrs. NEVER AGAIN!!!
I purchased a new GE washer and dryer in January 2015. In June 2015, I started to have issues with the Dryer. I called in and they took care of it under warranty. In December 2015 I started having even worse issues with the washer and I called it in and they dragged their feet and didn't send anyone out till near my expiration date of warranty. I complained that the person did not fix my washer and they informed me that I would have to pay for the service call because my warranty was now up. Just barely up and had they fixed it when I first called I wouldn't have had the issues! I could have called them back in my warranty time. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER purchase any other type of GE product nor will I recommend them to anyone. I now have a brand new, broken, washer that I paid around $1500 for the set.
I purchased a GE Gtwn7450h1ww top load washer in April 2015. It's run fine until tonight when all of a sudden the door lock won't lock!! Now I have a load of semi-wet clothes I must lug to the laundry mat! The actual motor works but because the stupid lid won't lock, now I have a piece of crap! Lately our clothes haven't been getting real clean either. Not sure if these 2 things connect, but I'm not very happy to have a less than 2 year old appliance fail like this!!!
I would have given no stars but then I couldn't have continued to speak my mind!!! I wish I could give a video I took of this sorry washer dancing around my laundry room!!! It is less than 2 years old and I only got it because it was the only one with an agitator anymore!!! I have had the water hose come undone so much that flooring needs to be replaced!!! It bangs around like it's off balance on every type of load no matter the size, water level or soap I use!!! It is sorry!
I told retailer and someone came and says nothing's wrong!!! I have to literally lay my body over it when it spins!!! I don't like that it puts how much water in it that it wants to, don't like the lid locking or anything about it but color white. I'm not usually a mean speaking person but I'm writing this as my body is literally draped across top of machine to hold machine in place as I do my laundry!!! I know that no one will contact me or cares if I like my washer or not but I feel a bit better for letting others know NOT to buy this product!!! Now if I could only find a new machine that worked like the good old days!!!
I've had my washer for two years and didn't buy the warranty but that should not matter because it was a piece since I purchased it. The water doesn't fill to the top. It can only wash six towels and really doesn't clean the clothes well. I bought it from Lowe's. It's model number GTWN4250D1WS, SERIAL # TD133653G. I NEED TO BUY ANOTHER WASHER, BECAUSE I HAVE TO JUNK THIS ONE. Lost my receipt but Lowe's should have record purchased on Lowe's credit card.
Do not buy this product (GE front load washer model #WCVH4800K2WW)! If you do you had better get an extended warranty and have lots of time. I have had it for only a little over 3 years. The washer drawer has had problems with leaking twice now. It takes the GE service technicians 4-5 visits to fix the issue (the part costs over $400). I just had my 5th visit to fix the drawer and they switched the water hoses so it now rinses all loads with very hot water. I notified GE within 2 hours of the repair but they cannot come back for a week (another half day off to wait around for service). Terrible product and service. Ability to clean clothes is fair. The dryer that matches this product balls up the clothes and only works well with light loads - sheets end up in knots and half dry. GE consumer advocate was of no help. I will avoid all GE products in the future.
I have had no issues with my GE front loading Washer and Dryer that I purchased in 2004, until last month. The washer needed a small part that wore out replaced. Last year I had 2 old dogs and this year I have 2 puppies so for the last 12 months the washer and dryer have been run almost every day. Prior to that they were run at least once a week for hours at a time. The washer is operated by pushing fake buttons on the plastic. The only issue at this point is that the plastic fronts are cracking (probably from old age). When I need to buy again I will have no issue looking at GE models.
I love the washer. It has a deep fill option if you like more water but it really does work with minimal water. I watch through the glass lid and all the clothes move through the cycle. I wish there was an option to slow down the spin cycle for delicates. It still spins at full speed, just for a shorter time. The one thing I hate, is sometimes it leaves lint build up on the black clothes. Most of it comes off in the dryer, but on the clothes I just hang up to dry, I have to manually rub the lint away. Pain. The deep rinse option may help with this.
In December 2014 I moved into my newly built home and furnished it with 8 GE Profile appliances: washer, dryer, refrigerator, microwave, oven, cooktop, hood, and dishwasher. The cooktop failed and had to be replaced within 3 months (getting it replaced required contacting the GE CEO's office). Within 9 months the pump on the dishwasher had to be replaced and the refrigerator had to be repaired. 2 years later the range hood is not working properly, the front loading washer has to be repaired at a cost of $650 or be replaced and the dryer stopped operating properly a week ago and will need to be repaired. Last night the microwave started smoking and part of the inside wall melted. The 1 year warranty ran out and now I have to spend thousands of dollars to repair and replace the appliances. 7 out of 8 appliances were defective. I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy another GE product. This company is a disgrace.
Top Loading Model GTW680BSJ - We just purchased a new home, built by LENNAR, that included all GE appliances. The very first time I used the washing machine water poured out of the bottom. Technician found the tank had a hole in it and when he contacted GE they informed him it was a known problem cited in an internal bulletin HL08-16. They claim the unit is repairable, but the GE technician said repairing it would mean completely disassembling the machine. We all know that if you have to take something completely apart, it rarely works as it should. GE Customer Service has been dragging their feet for 2 weeks rejecting out of hand my request to replace the machine with a new one. And they do not seem to be able to send anyone to fix it either. The other complaints folks have regarding their customer service I have also experienced to the max.
It would seem that if they provided a new washing machine out of the box and it had a known defect that is pretty massive, they would step up and provide a new one. But the Service Representative told me, "There is no way we will give you a new washer -- it is repairable and we will repair it." I went to Lowe's and purchased a Maytag washer, had it delivered in one day, and have put the GE machine in the garage for them to come and fix it when they can seem to decide how they are going to do it. All they do is call me every 2 days and tell me they are working it.
In the meantime, I will be working towards filing legal action against GE and LENNAR for providing something with a known defect and not disclosing that during the sale. Probably the most interesting thing was a comment the GE Customer Service Representative told me -- "We only read the data, we don't know anything about GE bulletins and we don't care. We don't talk to the technical team at GE. We don't have defective products -- we will fix it 100 times if we need to."
Having purchased a G.E. Washer & Dryer last year, I was totally unprepared for the events that followed that purchase. About 6 months afterward, the washer would simply just stop. I called G.E. and since I still had the warranty, they sent someone out. I didn't quite understand what the guy said but he mentioned that this had apparently happened to other machines. This same thing happened again after the one year warranty was up and I had to pay to fix it. When I would put the clothes into the dryer, there were times that the clothes did not get dry and I would have to start the process again. This happened twice after the warranty was up - no one seemed to know why this was happening. I can only say that I am looking for a new washer & dryer and definitely not a GE.
RE: GE Clothes washer No: GTW485ASJWS - PURCHASED April, 2016. Totally unsatisfactory. Very loud, washer jumps and jerks while spinning, moves constantly and has to be pushed back into place after each wash. Not enough rinse water used even with deep fill and dark clothes when dried show residue from detergent. Must use extra spin on all wash cycles. Bulky items can't be washed without stopping washer and rearranging clothes several times. Sheets finish in knots. At times all cycles work, then they don't and then they work. Three service calls with GE. "Nothing wrong. Nature of washer" so the technician said. He said cheap washer and I agree with that. Paid $539.99 on sale.
However one technician did put in a new computer but that didn't help the jumping and knocking of the machine. Do not recommend this washer or any GE product as GE has not stood behind this problem. Their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I'm sure GE has spent more on service calls than I paid for the washer, but will not give me another washer. Their solution - "Since you are unhappy with your new washer just throw that washer out if you don't think you can use it" and GE will give me a 25% discount on another GE washer of my choice. No thanks!!!
Last October I purchased a extra large capacity GE washer. Hoping that it would be able to handle bulky loads. I always have to adjust cycles to make sure there is enough water. Finally... After I get it washing correctly. The spin cycle bumps around... then I have to adjust the clothes. Which by the way are now in knots tied to each other??? I am not happy with this investment of nearly $600.00.
GE washer with fill sensor GTW485ASJ0WS - Worst idea ever. You are supposed to put in your detergent, then clothes then start 'er up. It locks, and spends between 3-5 minutes trying to figure out how much water to add. I'm serious. During that time the washer is locked and it's not filling - it's just thinking, squirting a little water in, thinking some more. Eventually it starts filling up and then unlocks. This is when I add the soap. So - I have to wait 3-5 minutes, after I've loaded and started the cycle, for the machine to unlock and add soap. Stupid. Another stupid thing... Much soap do you add if you don't know how much water the machine will decide to use. I opened the machine one time, paused it to see what was going on. The load was big, but it was lighter wt - sweats, tees, socks, etc... Because the clothing was light wt, the machine had decided the load needed less water. Because it was a big load, I had decided the load needed a large load serving of soap.
Another stupid thing... After loading up a load of jeans, I shut the lid, prepared to wait the required 3-5 minutes before the water started flowing, the lid unlocked and I could add soap. I shut the lid... And saw that the cycle was on delicates. I turned the knob to jeans. Now at this point there was barely any water filled yet. The machine decides that it has to drain the washer, spin out the water, and try to reassess how much to fill the machine. But somewhere along the way, it got confused and just kept trying to drain. It did this even after I unloaded it completely and unplugged it. So - after multiple tries, I unplugged it again, and left the room for 1/2 hour.
Came back and plugged it in, and apparently 1/2 hour was long enough for it to forget what it had been trying to do & just start over again. So - hear this - to get one load started, where I mistakenly had the cycle set wrong and switched it before the machine was full or washing even - it took about 40 minutes. Thanks GE. Your product stinks.
Washing machine model GTWN4250M1WS - Do NOT buy a GE! This damnable machine, <5yrs old, is supposedly energy efficient. Not when EVERY load has to have an extra rinse, it isn't, no matter HOW little laundry soap's used! Sometimes it leaves clumps of powdered laundry soap - AFTER the cycle finishes - so what's happening with the liquid soap I occasionally try? Once it fills it won't accept ANY settings changes - when I've tried, it instead empties all the soap and clean water, NEVER agitating.
Only if set on "Gentle" will it - sometimes - not twist all the pants/LS shirts into sausages. If I put it on fill with no clothes in it - even if not on the auto-sensing - and leave for even a second too long, it will "fill to less than 8", not nearly enough for the XL load of waiting clothes, & no changes of the dial will get it to put in more. We had a Maytag in our last home and will look for another when we can kick GE to the curb!
We too bought a GE top loading washer in 2016 and have been having trouble with it for months. It does not spin out properly. We have had the repairman out on four occasions. The motherboard and drain sensor have been replaced. It worked for three days and then stopped again. Repairman is scheduled to come out again today. It is a lemon.
I bought a washer the end of March 2016. Mid-December my washer lid would not lock and I could not do laundry. I contacted the number on my manual only to be put on hold and then a recording that said this product is not covered by warranty. Desperate - I contacted Lowe's where I had purchased the item. They contacted a warranty repair and set up an appointment - the first appointment was the following week (time I had to take off work). The repairman came to tell me that they had to replace the sensor. That took a week and a half to receive. In the meantime I took time off again to contact GE's consumer affairs (their hours are M-F 9 to 5). After waiting an hour and a half on hold I was basically told I could file my issue but there was nothing they could do to rectify the issue.
I was out of town for work and could not take off to wait for the repairman so it has been over a month without my washer. This is a huge inconvenience as well as having to take several days off work and the issue is still not rectified. I would NOT recommend any GE products to anyone. They have inferior products and do not stand behind them.
My 4th GE Profile washer and dryer. This time surprised that the finish rusted, 1st year. Tried to fix but did not work. Called customer service, they would not help. Guess I need to look at better options!!! Not good for GE.
We had bought a new GE top load washer and dryer with the bigger drum since we have 5 in the house. Bought them Nov. 20/16 and received them about 2 weeks later in early December. My wife used them for about three loads and complained about the noise and the fact that it went through 2 wash cycles and 4 rinse cycles. Not very good for a "HE" washer. We went back to where we bought them and they put us through to GE customer service where the gentleman on the other end made us feel like total morons. It's like we never did a load of laundry before.
They eventually sent a repairman about a week later and he came in and saw the issue and ordered a new Motherboard and set of dials. And yet another 9 days of waiting for parts. The washer now has the "SPIN" light flashing and the machine shakes violently with just 4 light sweaters in it. And yet another phone call to the repair place on Monday Jan 16 and the service guy will not be here until Jan. 24th. I do not blame the Store where we bought it, but I am at wit's end with this "POS". The dryer works fantastic. We got rid of a perfectly working 26 year old Maytag for this nightmare. DON'T BUY G.E.
I hate, loathe, and despise this "high-efficiency" washer. As others have related, despite the use of HE liquid detergent, the washer leaves a white residue on dark clothes that is nearly impossible to remove. Even using the extra rinse cycle does not guarantee that the residue is washed off, and since the idea of HE is to use less water, having to use a second rinse defeats that questionable purpose. Since the machine uses a minimal amount of water, the clothes are not very clean, and there is obviously soap residue left on/in the fabrics. If I could give this washer no stars, I would.
Bought a front load GE washing machine and dryer "combo" with pedestals in Dec 2008 for 4K as a Christmas present for my wife. After 5 years of use on the washing machine we started to have major problems (the washer Has NEVER been abused and is still to this day in like new condition). Come to find out there was a major recall where the drum comes completely off during spin (which is what happened to our unit). MODEL: WPDH8800J0WW/SERIAL: SR20095OT. In 2013 when the machine was 5yrs old GE techs came and performed the recall. Going forward we had techs come back because the drum never spun right again. Spun so fast we thought it was gonna blast off to the moon! Techs hooked up their machine and put it to their computer test and could not duplicate any problems! I even made a recording to show the tech! Again still no help or fix but they were so kind (sarcastic) not to charge us a trip call!
Finally this week a tech comes again (3rd time is a charm), and now says "I've never seen this before but when I took the top off the drum and weights have come off again". All related to original problem! After talking with his home base he said it'll be $400 min to repair OR they'll probably make you a great deal on something new! I called customer service and gotta say they're horrible to talk to also! Terrible customer service on every level and immediately was turned off by their nonchalant attitude at helping make me whole again and standing by their product!
They offered me a new machine Model: GFW480SSKWW for the low cost of $1,140.98 and a matching dryer for the same price also! (Since the matching dryer I have computer syncs with the old washer is no good anymore due to technology advancements.) For a grand total of 2,281.96 before taxes etc! Needless to say I have NEVER felt so taken advantage of and will NEVER buy another GE appliance if possible due to this experience alone! I have turned to ConsumerAffairs in hopes to warn of this issue and anyone else who may be dealing with the same product! Today I will start my journey in finding a new washing machine and dryer and it won't be a GE.
In May of 2016 we purchased a brand new set of laundry mates (GE) from Sears. From day 1 it has been nothing but troubles with the washer. The GE repairman has replaced the motherboard at least 3 times because it will not work or when it does it locks up and does not spin out. The clothes are not clean and it is hard on the clothing. Please check our account and see how many times we have had the serviceman out for the stupid machine. We are not happy with the dryer either because it takes forever to dry a load of clothes but the washer by far is the worst problem.
We have had so many trouble calls from GE service and they will not do anything for us any more so we called Sears where we bought it and told them of our dilemma. They are supposedly sending over another repairman. I have made many trips to the Laundromat to do my washing. This is not fair to the consumer to be stuck with such a lemon. We have requested they give us our money back so we can purchase another set but it definitely will not be GE
I purchased a GE washer, model GTW330ASK0WW on 12-22-2016. It was a mistake. The washing machine shakes, vibrates and makes loud noises due to the violent shaking during the spin cycle. Did I mention the violent spin cycle? It makes one think that it will break very soon.
I bought a new washer model gtw460asj2ww. It takes a long time to wash a load of laundry. I have to check when it is done filling with water because the computer does not always fill correctly with a large load. The soap was still in the clothes and family was having skin irritation. Energy saving or not, I won't buy another water saving washer.
