Everytime we wash any kind of heavy items in our washer such as towels or jeans they always smell like mildew when they come out. We were told to put a cup of bleach in the wash and run it through a cycle but didn't help at all. I also had a shirt get ripped apart in the wash and leaving a little spots on our clothes from bleach staying in the washer. I think this is were the tiny holes in our clothes are coming from as well.

Bought the high end GE Profile washing machine. Twice in one year the motor failed. Once the pump failed, and then a printed circuit board failed. It showed on the schematic, but GE couldn't figure out what it was! They tried to convince me (I'm an appliance repair serviceman) that there was no such part! Finally when they admitted I was right they told me that part was NLA. The Profile wall mount microwave stuck on and nearly burned up! To anyone thinking of GE products I tell them DON'T BUY GE ANYTHING!

I purchased a GE front load washer and dryer in JUNE 07 and spent more money than I could really afford at the time. After reading about how energy efficient they are supposed to be since I have a family of 5 and do a lot of laundry, I went for it . WELL WHAT I MISTAKE I MADE! Mm towels have a HORRIBLE MILDEW SMELL; they are washed in hot water with plenty of detergent. I contacted GE about this problem; of course, there is no explanation. MY white laundry is also disgusting--never in my life have I HAD GRAY WHITES. THERE IS SOMETHING TERRIBLY WRONG WITH THIS MACHINE . I AM VERY DISGUSTED, AND I WANT SOME ANSWERS TO THESE PROBLEMS.

I purchased a GE washer Model 6260F and Dryer 515EF1 in April 2006. To date, 11/24/2007, the washer has had 4 service calls (a leak, noises, a moldy smell and not working) and the dryer has had 8 service calls (overheat/running way too hot and leaving black marks on materials and some of the marks can only be removed with Krud Kutter but not all marks can be removed). GE replaced the dryer in 9/2007 with the same model and it has the same problems and I have returned it within 2 months. I will never ever purchase another GE product ever again. Way too many problems.
The dryer has ruined 6 high quality bath towels ($85/ea), 4 high quality bath mats ($120 ea), and 3 sets of Ralph Lauren sheets and pillowcases, not to mention all the clothing items.

I bought a GE front load washer, and all of my clothes smell like mildew. There is a mold that is in the washer. I called GE and they said to put bleach in the washer and run it through a cycle. I do that often and my clothes still smell sour. I have had many top load washers and have never had this problem.

I purchased a GE frontloader on or about 10/19/07. Since then I have had a repair man out 4 times to replace the motherboard, waterpump, struts and seal. That did not work so they brought me a new one that is doing the same thing (will not spin out). I have asked for a refund, and they said it is now past my 30 days and they can not give me one. The problem is that it took them that long to deal with the problem, and now it is my fault it is past 30 days. Also, has anyone figured out what those storage drawers are for because they are too big to hold laundry detergent bottles they are to big. So I paid $200 extra to make it look good.

We purchased a GE clothes washer approximately 4 years ago. Only a couple of months before the warranty ran out, the transmission in it imploded. It was covered under the transmission warranty (but only the parts). After an almost $200 labor bill, we again had a working washer. Now the transmission has apparently gone kaput again. The dryer we purchased at the same time gave us fits, too. We replaced it about 2 years ago when we found that the GE dryer was eating clothes. Of course, it was out of warranty as well.
What ever happened to major home appliances lasting any time? This is not my first set of problems with GE-- but with any luck, will be my last . I do not intend to give GE any more business. We are out the $200 labor, $350 for replaced dryer, and $500 for damaged clothes--plus invaluable time to take care of these issues.

Five years ago, we renovated our kitchen and replaced our appliances with all GE appliances. This has been a disaster. The refrigerator's ice maker has been replaced 3 times, still does not work properly. The washer and dryer has had numerous problems that had to have a service man repair, the microwave oven had to be replaced completely. THEN Thursday, 11/15, while I am baking for Thanksgiving (expecting 8 family members from out of town at my house for the week) my bottom element to my stove with the convection oven burns out.

We purchased a model 6240 front load washer from Lowe's with an extended service plan.
A couple months after installing the machine it quit draining. The service man took off the front, unscrewed a trap of some sort and the washer drained. A few months later the same thing occurred. We were told they would clean it out again but from now on they wouldn't do it because it is considered a customer maintenance function.
I have never owned a washing machine that I have to unscrew and remove panels to access a drain assembly (dumping water all over the bottom drawer and floor) so the washer will drain.
Both Lowe's and GE shrug their shoulders and refuse to resolve this issue for me, so guess where I won't be buying my next NON-GE appliance?

From early September until now my GE front loader washer, purchased in Feb '07, is not working. Since May i have endured 6 or 7 service calls. They replaced everything but the front door and yesterday replaced the inverter that controls motor speeds. Last night i was astonished to watch this machine spin out of control and launch into the adjacent dryer. I think its time for a new machine. Ge service reps are clueless .They don't know what is the real problem so they throw parts at the problem. Does GE read our complaints?

We have only been using our GE front load washer for 5 months. Already had 2 serious issues and 1 fix able issue. First one the not-friendly Sears customer service person said we were using the wrong detergent. It would not get out spin cycle. We were using the right detergent. That was an hour conversation.
Turns out the discharge tube was pushed too far into the piping. Easy fix. It took Sears 2 weeks to come out and do this for us. Now we are waiting for the service person to come and fix the washer because it is leaking somewhere on the bottom of the machine. Realized it was leaking through the subfloor into the basement. AND the last load that we did tore up three shirts. I thought the front loaders were easier on your clothes because they didn't have an agitate cycle?
Sears was so concerned they said they would have someone out in the next 2 weeks. AND, we have to make sure we are available between 8AM and 5PM. That is garbage!!! The long and short of it; I will never shop at Sears again (TERRIBLE customer service), and I will never purchase GE again.
Saturated sub-floor. Less than a year old machine breaking down. Three torn shirts.

We own all GE aplliances and purchased them new in 2004. Our washing machine has not completed the second spin cycle in over a year. It seems it would cost almost as much to have the problem repaired as it would to purchase a new machine during a sale. It is crazy, spending all this money on appliances just for them to break down. I will never purchace another appliance from GE!

In April 2005, we purchased the GE front loading washer and dryer at a cost of around $1600. Within one month, we needed service on the dryer.
The technician "fixed it" by rubbing a bar of soap on the belt. Needless to say, this did not fix the problem. THIRTEEN technician visits later, we finally go the entire inside of the dryer replaced. But, guess what-it still makes the same noise! I have been told, by the techs, that it is just the way it is.
The washing machine now has a huge whole in the gasket and is inoperable. I have been using a laundry mat for weeks.
You would think the parts on new appliances would be in stock, but I guess GE runs out quickly.

My husband and I bought a brand new front load washer and dryer. They cost way more than we wanted to spend, but we figured they would pay for them selves with all the energy saving hype. Well, they both eat our clothes! No matter what you put in there, something gets stuck between the spinning part and the still part of each.
According to the service technician that came out, there is too much play between each and that causes our clothes to get stuck, twist up a million times and then rip. We have had over 400.00 worth of our items ruined, including out sheets. GE says we are putting to much clothes in each load. Are you kidding me! Not done fighting this.

They all cant be lemons can they? The unit will go into pause all by itself. It takes a day to do one load. The first unit we had the door decided that it was not going to close anymore so my wife had to lean on the machine to get it to work. What a mess.

We purchased a GE Profile front loader washing machine in April 06. The electronics are bad on it. It won't cycle correctly, stops several times mid-cycle, won't spin, sometimes won't agitate, freezes mid-cycle with the door locked and won't open, and always has water in it even though the pump runs constantly to drain it. I have been 2.5 weeks without my washer. GE won't send anyone to repair it because the authorized repair persons are all too far away (more than 50 miles).
We requested a return authorization over 10 days ago. We received no response from them. We went to the Nebr. Furniture Mart from whom we purchased the machine and asked them to work with GE. They have been unable to make any progress either. GE tells them they will deal only with the consumer (LIE...they didn't do anything for us for over two weeks). They told the store that they were processing the request for a return authorization but then they had the wrong serial number and would have to re-process the request. I am five months pregnant and have a tear in my abdominal wall for which I am having surgery next Wednesday, Nov. 15. I HAVE to have a functioning washing machine before then because I cannot lift anything greater than 10lb for four weeks. There is no way I'll be able to carry loads of clothes to/from a laundromat.

I purchased a GE washer (WSXH208) and GE dryer - approximately 3 1/2 years ago. I never fell in love with the washer, it always smells inside, sour smell. Several days ago it started making a very loud noise when spinning, which by the way usually is extremely quit. I called GE and they sent a repair man to look at the unit, I wasn't impressed with his ability. I think they're just parts changers. He gave me an estimate of $470.00 to repair the unit, which by the way the parts are covered under GE. So....that's just for the labor. I could buy a new unit for what they want to charge me for labor?? I called to speak to a supervisor, which didn't care what I had to say. She stated well that's the price the technician quotes the price. I then cancelled my appointment to repair the unit. I've owned many washers over the years and they have lasted for many, many years without problems. So 3 1/2 years scares me to ever purchase a GE unit again.

Also the clothes would be so hot that they would burn my hands. My dryer first broke in February of 06 there was no heat at all. We purchased a new home in 2002 and at that time we asked the builder if we could have other appliances than GE, the answer was NO. We have a long history of not just bad luck with GE, but just REALLY THE VERY WORST PRODUCTS for the past 8 years and were hoping not to have to deal with GE anymore. Unfortunatelly, the GE Profile refrigerator has been serviced once and now it broke totally, the Washer in making terrible noises. The microway is not working properly either (the piece that holds the turning table melted while making pop corn)
Since when do we the consumers have to insure everything we own? We expect a new appliance to last a while since it is new. Why can the appliances be just manufartured correctly?

In Aug. 2005, I bought the top of the line washer and dryer that cost 2100.00. A month after having it the dryer breaks down, it took a week to replace (the switch or something was wrong), three weeks later it happens again (another week to fix it, the guys comes and he reset it). A month or so later again, it needs a new motor (the guy gets it to work, but new parts are on the way). Now Second week of January again it breaks down. We just want our money back. I dont want to deal with it anymore, I bought new, supposed quality so I can wash my clothes and dry but that isn't happening. Two thousand dollars for a washer and dryer is a lot of money.
We have had to go do our laundry at the public ones, carry the clothes we have a household of 6 people including three kids. We bought these dryers because they were suppose to work with us not against us. We dont have time to spend three hours at a laundry mat, or have energy to carry the big buckets thats why we bought a washer and dryer.

I called once again to order the correct part and they researched it further and told me I was correct there were two parts that superceded the part number I gave them, so they sent out the most recent. When I received the package, all that was in the box were wires and a relay and a capacitor, NO motor. I called GE once again to DESPERATELY try and order the part that I documented at the appliance parts store and was given a hard time about how I need to call a technician and schedule a service call. I told her that this is the part I need; I have already talked with a technician. Finally, she agreed and said she would send that part right out.
I received the part and again, it was the wrong motor. I called GE immediately and was given a hard time once again and I explained that I gave her the correct part number and the lady sent the wrong one. This lady found what I was explaining to her to be correct and that she would research it further. She found that right before her eyes that a new part number had superceded the superceded part! I could not believe my ears. She said that she would research this with the parts department and send out my part priority FEDEX and call me back. She did not do either one. Two days later I called to find out what was going on and was notified that they could no longer do anything for me, they would not send out any more parts and I would have to schedule a service call with GE at my expense. I know this is a lengthy complaint, however, it is really a condensed version of the problem that I have experienced with GE.
I feel that GE is trying to force me to schedule a service call. They have humiliated me and brought me to tears. I know the part number I need, and now I have been told that they will not send any more parts to my home unless a service technician visits my home and calls them with the correct part number(at my expense). I have been without a washing machine for 21 days. I have had to wash clothes by hand and at the laundromat. This has been a terrible experience.

I purchased a GE washing machine in 5/98. In 12/2000 the transmission went. I contacted GE for the repair and I had to pay $50 some odd dollars for the service call. The transmission is under a 5 year warranty and was replaced. Now in 1/2002 the transmission has gone again after 12 1/2 months. I contacted GE at 800-432-2737 and was told I would have to pay another service call and the labor on this 5 year warranty item. I then contacted the GE consumer office at 800-386-1215 was told the same thing and asked to speak with a supervisor. I spoke with Vicky at ext 2697. She offered me a voucher of $75 towards the labor cost on this 5 year warranty item plus I would have to pay another service call of $54.00.
I stated I am not paying for this. It is 12 1/2 months old. I want a replacement washer because this one is obviously defective. She offered me 40% off a new unit. Why would I want to buy another GE product? Bottom line is this would be the 3rd. transmission that would be installed in this 3 1/2 year old machine. Something is wrong. I asked for a replacment. Today I called Vicky and left a message (1/25) and she never returned my call. I then called the 800 number again and asked for her supervisor. I am now on the list of having a case manager contact me within the next 48 hours. No one seems to understand this unit is DEFECTIVE.
The transmission has a 5 year warranty which has already been replaced twice. The original and the one I paid for. I want a replacement unit. I would like an upgrade for fear that this will happen again but I am willing to take the same model. This is basically like the Lemon Law on cars. I received a lemon washing machine. I do not feel that I should have to pay anything. My last washer was 17 years old -- a Whirlpool.

In the past 3 years we have had the transmission replaced twice and now the water problem is back. It looks like we are looking at have the transmission replaced for a third time.
If GE thinks that they do not have a problem they are sadly mistaken. Do I replace the part again or do I just get rid of this piece of junk? If this is the type of support that a major company gives its consumer then I wish them luck because they will not stay in business in our competitive market for much longer. We bought our washing machine on June 3, 1996 and installed the same day -- General Electric Model # GJSR2080T2WW, it is a heavy duty model. Our household just had the transmission replaced on January 18, 2001, by a Camco approved technician. The part was under warranty, but the labour was $138.00 Canadian for about 45 minutes work by the technician.
The washer started to exhibit problems last fall, when we discovered water in the floor during a wash cycle. After removing the front access door of the washing machine we observed water exiting an overflow tube at the back/left of the machine. When we opened the hatch, of course it stopped rotating, it looked like it was free spinning. So we put half a clothes peg in the safety switch hole to simulate the hatch as closed. What we observed during a wash aggitation cycle was the drum accelerating into a spin. The action of the spin velocity caused the water to "crawl up" the drum by centrifical force, low and behold water started pouring out the overflow tube.
Anyway, the transmission was replaced, the technician left, but my wife discovered a "Service Bulletin" from General Electric Company, Appliance Park, Louisville, KY 40225. It was dated September, 1999. Titled "FULL SIZE WASHER, WASHER LEAKS AND TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENTS HL 8/99" Here is the text of the first paragraph: "As a result of the cooperation and efforts of our field technicians, our engineering department has been able to examine hundreds or returned transmissions. This has allowed us to understand and correct the problems that causes transmission failures. The quality or the transmission that is being built now is better then ever."
It seems to me that GE Appliances was fully aware of an engineering and design problem with their washing machines' drum/transmission/braking system well before September, 1999. We did not get an advisory from GE concerning the defective transmission. We purchsed GE because a perceived quality image, but that is quickly eroding the further I investigate the issue.

GE cover up. Anyone who has bought a GE/HOTPOINT/RCA/ OR PROFILE WASHING MACHINE manufactured in the US between 1995 and 1997 is susceptible to failure. Their scheme is to charge the general labor for parts they know are bad.

The lid switch went bad on the machine and it was replaced. The next problem that occurred was that the tub came off its supports, causing a very loud banging sound and the clothes not properly washing, rinsing or spinning. That problem was fixed several times. I then noticed a small amount of water draining from the bottom of the machine, just a trickle at first then a stream. My clothes had spots of an oil like substance on them as well. I called a repair man to my home only to be told that the "transmission had gone out." He said the part should be covered by GE but that the labor cost was probably about as much or more than the part.
This is not to count the cost of my clothes that were ruined, the floor tile that was ruined under the machine, the service charges through the years and now this big expense that we have to inccur. The service man told us that GE washers namely this model is well known for this problem. I tried looking on the Internet for General Electric to file a complaint and try to locate a way to speak to someone about the problem. I obtained a number but so far have been unable to reach anyone to help me. I will keep trying this week. I feel that they do not care about their products since they are selling faulty merchandise so frequently.

I have a washing machine manufactured in 1997. I am not sure of date of purchase, I lost receipt. Every time I use it, water pours out of the bottom of it and floods my kitchen. My repair man came and told me (without doing anything ) that it is the transmission. The part is $175 plus the service call and labor.
I called G.E., to find out the warranty. The transmission is warrantied for 5 years. But once again they want labor and service charge to be paid by me. I can buy a new washing machine for the cost of that. My repair man said they are having major problems with these units. First the transmission goes and next is the water pump.
He suggests buying Maytag. Which I will do.
I have water damage to my wall and pantry area where my washing machine is. I am not sure of the extent of damage to my ceramic tile, or my cupboards, seeing that my house has been flooded so many times by this washing machine. I take it as a loss and buy a new one, NOT G.E.
