The sales rep from Empire was very nice and warm. Our flooring is dark beige, toffee color and a nice pile. It came with the padding. The flooring's very soft to the feet. I like going barefoot. So, it's very nice. We had done it on one of their 50/50/50 deals. The installation was very quick. The installers came when they said they were coming. They installed it, cleaned everything up and left in a short time. They were easy to work with and they did their job well. I would recommend Empire.

I had flooring installed in my family room and living room. The installers did the job in a day. But they had to come back because I didn't like the way they pieced the boarding together. Plus, they had to come back twice because the boarding kept lifting up. When you would step on it, it didn't go all the way down. It still does that but I haven't called back. Other than that, it's clean and it looks nice. I like the design.

The sales rep from Empire today was new to the position but he was okay. We had laminate flooring installed in three bedrooms and I like the color, thickness and durability of the new flooring. The four guys were here probably for eight hours. But the installation is still ongoing. The thresholds that they put down were supposed to match the old woodwork that's in the hallways now. But only one out of four matched. They said they would match it as close as they could and it was not even close.

The flooring was put in in July and we're still struggling. It was hard to even get people to answer my phone call back. It's not over yet and I'm quite disappointed with Empire. The product looks great and the installers did a great job. But I need them to come back and finish it. It is the follow-up. Empire seems to have a hard time picking up that phone when you call or get back to you. They made me take pictures and send them in. And I did that. They're supposed to be coming but I haven't heard anything yet.

We're new to Florida, and we needed new flooring. We called up Empire Today, and they sent a guy out, then we chose our color. It was really quick. They had it down in one day. My husband and I reserved a motel room because we figured it'd take them two or three days, and we got in. My husband's full-time wheelchair, and a handicap room was not very good. The installers called and said, "Hey, we'll be done by 6:00." I asked the foreman, "Can we come home?" He said, "Absolutely," so I told my husband, "Great. Let's go home." We got our floor, and we are so happy with our service and the floors and the crew. Everyone was awesome. They were very courteous and very aware of furniture. They took good care of everything. We appreciate them. Empire Today is also right in the market's pricing, and sometimes they're lower, but the quality is awesome.

My wife decided she wanted to install a new floor in our home to replace our carpet. She wanted to see the different styles and options available as well as the prices so she could make a decision. I went ahead and made an appointment for Monday 9/18/23 for 3 PM for Empire Today in which my wife took off work early so she could meet the salesperson and get all this information. This person arrived to my house at the scheduled time and no matter how many questions my wife asked about Empire today and their products he would refuse to answer, stating that he can only give information to both of us together even though my wife is the only person interested and is making the decision if she likes it or not.

Bottom line everything seemed sketchy with his questions more in a personal level and nothing to do with a business presentation. No matter how many times and questions my wife asked he did not want to answer…Felt like you're being tricked or something. Made my wife feel uncomfortable. Waste of time! My wife took off of work for nothing. That is not the way to do business! Would not recommend! There are plenty of other good places to go.

I had Empire do the flooring in the kitchen, three bathrooms, two hallways, and a living room. This was done for my father who is older. The installers came in one day and they did the vinyl first. They moved all the furniture into the kitchen and did that part. This took nine hours. The next day, a different crew came back and moved the furniture from the kitchen area and did those. This took about eight to nine hours as well. Once they were done, they cleaned up and they moved everything back. The work was excellent. Everything looks to be very streamlined, seamless, and very professional looking. It doesn't seem like my father's having any issues.

The reason I ended up going with Empire is because I had my stuff from them two years ago. Before we moved to our new house, I changed the complete downstairs from carpet to vinyl plank flooring. Everything was done really great. The crew was really nice and they got things done. I still love it. They said not to soak the floor and just take a Swiffer. When it was time to do someone else's floors, I went with the same company. Go with Empire for ease and their salespeople are amazing. The prices are really great and the quality of their work is excellent.

The final product looks good. We had to have our bathroom fixed, but it was fixed within the same week. They installed the floor wrong. They sent a different crew out to fix it a couple of days later.

Empire Today came out, and I liked what they had to say. We had them put in carpet in the bedrooms. The installation team was really good. The only thing is I can't see where they put the seam together. So, I'm keeping an eye on that to see if it comes apart any more than it already is. If it doesn't get any worse, I'm okay with it. But if it gets worse, they're gonna have to do something. The overall quality has been great. I love it. Empire is really good for carpet. I got a quote for flooring, and they were way out of the ballpark.

Our new flooring is durable. The carpet is very soft. It is very impressionable. It was nice that when people came in, they were very impressed to see it. They thought it is good-looking and up-to-date. I really like the hardwood that we put in our hallway upstairs. I would tell others to give Empire a try. The prices were reasonable.

Carpet every 10 years is normal to replace it and that's what I've done. I know I've used Empire Today at least three times because I had the woman look up and see what I had last time. I even recommended them to my cousin across the road and they had their house done. I was real happy with them or else I wouldn't be using them for 30 years. Most recently, the installers were good but a couple of things needed fixing. I knew they were gonna have trouble with the house vacuum. When the guy was putting it back in, it snapped. But I got it fixed and they took care of me. I called in and the guy told me to get an estimate. Instead of getting an estimate, I just had it fixed and sent it to him. He mailed me a check for what it cost. Also, the carpet is not holding up to my dog. He snags and it's making the carpet stringy. I can just trim it, but there's only so much I can trim.

I was surprised at how efficient they were and how they followed through. They even compensated me for the inconvenience of them not being prepared to do everything that they were contracted to do. That delayed the installation a little bit. But we were very happy with the installer. The guy who headed the crew was very personable. They didn't rush the job. We're very happy with the carpet.

I used Empire in the past and I used to like them. I wasn't happy this time. They always have these ads on TV about how they're having a big sale. I called them but the rep said, "Oh, what you want isn't on sale.” I asked what was the best deal I could get and I wasn't thrilled with the price. We had to haggle a bit. The installers were very nice but the padding feels like I'm walking on the sidewalk. With my other carpeting, I felt like I was walking on a cloud. They told me I got the best padding. I said, “No, I didn't. Because I’ve bought from you before. So either your quality has gone to crap or that's not true."

I know they're not gonna come in and rip everything out and redo it because that's a huge expense. But they weren't even nice enough to say, “Hey, if you use us again, we'll knock 20% off your bill. We wanna make up for this." When I called to bring it up, the rep was very like, “Oh, well. Too bad. It's already done.” That wasn't a very nice attitude and it left a bad taste in my mouth. She could have turned it around. So I said, "All right. Next time, I'll call Home Depot before I call y'all.”

We had LVP installed in our new home in 10/2021. We were sold a floor we did not want because the style we chose was "stuck in a shipping container" and did not have an estimated date of arrival. We needed to have a floor installed in our new home before we moved in with our toddler and newborn. Therefore, we had to choose a second option although Empire Today guaranteed they would install our floor before we moved in. We were told there was a lifetime warranty on the floors we purchased. We started experiencing lifting of the floorboards by 01/2022. When contacting the company they said the warranty had expired and we would have to go through the distributor of the floor product.

At this time I now have at least 20 spots where the floor is lifting, multiple scratches and even a floorboard that is CHIPPED. When the representative came to our home he said the "moisture" reading was too high and this caused the issues with the floor. However, the moisture level in the children's rooms read appropriately and floor boards are lifting in there. We have laminate in our bedroom and there is NOT ONE ISSUE. This is disgusting customer service. The representative said he would need to take out a FULL circle of the flooring and have us pay to fix it. We want Empire Today to pay to fix it and pay a NEW company for NEW flooring because of how TERRIBLE they are. WORST decision EVER.

Carpet Installation Fiasco with Empire Today. On 8/15/23 at approximately 12:15 pm, Eric, an installer with Empire Today arrived to install carpet for my three bedrooms.

Problem #1: Upon the pre-walkthrough, he did a remeasurement of the rooms and stated that he did not have enough carpet materials (including padding) to complete the job. He called his supervisor, Jamie, to discuss the matter with her. I also called the Customer Service Department and spoke with Tiffany. She completed two service tickets—one for material shortages (**) and the other for next day-same day service (**). I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager. Tiffany transferred my call to Shannon, which was no help at all. She basically just reiterated what Tiffany stated and offered the number to the Installation Manager, Jamie (877/588-2894 EXT **).

    My Recommended Solution:
    A. I asked if I could pay towards the remaining balance due of $2,117.50 and allow the installer to complete the job with the materials he had on hand and reschedule a date for him to complete the job. (Note: I was willing to pay $1,000.00.) I was told that according to Empire’s protocol that that was not an option.

    B. I asked if I could cancel. I was told that I could only cancel within three days of the initial contract date. So, basically, I will forfeit a chunk of my initial $1,000 deposit.

Moreover, I called my Sales Representative, Cole. However, it was to no avail. He basically stated that once the sale was made, my account was delegated to the next department to handle and that his hands were tied. I informed the installer that I will proceed with the installation and paid the remaining balance of $2,117.50 and received an authorization number of 347804. However, to date, I have not received an email confirmation of the payment transaction from Empire Today.

Problem #2: The installer proceeded to install the carpet in the second bedroom. I was watching a movie in the living room and noticed frayed pieces of what appeared to be gray carpet that dropped on the floor. I proceeded to the second bedroom to further investigate. As I suspected, it was indeed GRAY, which was NOT what I initially ordered. I ordered Elliston Atrio, which is a brownish color to match the color scheme already established for the bedrooms. Also, the texture of the carpet that was installed was not plush as the sample that the sales representative provided on the date of the sale (7/29/23). I suspect that the carpet delivered is a lower grade and I am a victim of a “bait and switch” sales tactic.

I called Customer Service for the second time and spoke with Sherry. I informed her that the carpet that was delivered and installed in the second bedroom is NOT what I ordered. She apologized and completed a service ticket (**) and stated that my account would be escalated to a manager and that a manager would call me back. In addition, the installer called his Supervisor, Jamie, and informed her of this second dilemma. Since no form of management was returning my calls, I asked the installer if I may speak to Jamie on his phone to determine a resolution—a new carpet installation date. Upon speaking with Jamie, she stated that the earliest that she could get the CORRECT carpet (Elliston Atrio) would be Friday (8/18/23) and that I would be scheduled for a morning appointment.

On 8/16/23 at approximately 9:55 am, I called Customer Service to confirm the NEW carpet installation appointment. I spoke with Ben; he confirmed that the NEW carpet installation date is August 18, 2023, in the morning. I also stated to Ben that I have not received a call from any form of management regarding my several complaints Tuesday. He apologized and transferred me to Anisa (Customer Service Supervisor). I informed her that I spoke to Shannon (Customer Service Supervisor) Tuesday and that I needed to speak to a higher form of management.

She transferred the call to Austin, Sales Manager in the Memphis, TN, region. I discussed my several grievances with Austin and texted him a picture of the INCORRECT gray carpet that was delivered and partially installed on 8/15/23 at the number he provided. He apologized and confirmed that the new carpet had been ordered and that my installation is scheduled for August 18, 2023, in the morning.

On 8/18/23 at approximately 8:05 am, Eric, the installer arrived to install what was supposed to be the CORRECT carpet that I initially ordered. Upon inspection of the carpet, it was NOT the same color or grade of carpet that the salesperson (Cole) sold me. This appears to be a bait-and-switch tactic. I asked the installer to call his supervisor to discuss this matter. Meanwhile, I called customer service and spoke to Rama. I immediately asked for a supervisor, so he transferred the call to Shannon, who was NOT helpful from the previous call on 8/15/23. I tried explaining my situation to her and she kept talking over me. The conversation escalated, and Shannon hung up on me.

I called back and spoke to Kelsie and informed her that I wanted to cancel and preferred NOT to do business with Empire Today. She informed me that Empire Today would TAKE 25% of the total cost of the project ($3,117.51), which equates to $779.38. She stated that a manager would be contacting me in 24 hours and that I should receive an email regarding the cancellation of the order. I informed Kelsie that her words were NOT reassuring, seeming that I have NOT received a call from ANY form of management regarding the fiasco on 8/15/23.

This injustice continued to gnaw at me, so I called back and spoke to Alex and reiterated the whole story for the umpteenth time. He stated that my account had been forwarded to the “main office” and gave me a reference number for my cancellation of service request (**). Thus, I am FORCED to ACCEPT the gray carpet that I DID NOT order, as the installer had already disposed of my previous carpet on 8/15/23. Also, Empire Today is confiscating nearly $800 of my money because I cancelled outside of the “three-day” timeframe. Empire Today's unprofessional service coupled with gross errors are the reasons why I decided to cancel and take my business elsewhere. This is all out ROBBERY! The level of customer service at all levels, especially management and sales, is by far the WORST that I have ever encountered. LOUSY! I hate that I was ever referred to this company and will NEVER consider them for any future projects!

Empire Today came out on 8-10-23 to give us an estimate on new carpet. After salesman called his boss we all agreed at a price of $3000 total with an 8 lb pad. The salesman said he needed a deposit of $1048.80 which we provided via a check. It was agreed install would be on 8-16-23. Salesman never advised us we would lose our total deposit if cancel contract. When contract came via email, it was 12 pages and the total price listed was $4195.18 and after subtracting our provided deposit we would owe on day of install $3146.38.

I called the salesman and pointed out the pad listed is wrong and the balance should be a total of $3000 not $3146.38. The salesman said a change order would be sent which we received but the same wrong pad and amount was still listed. I did not sign this change order nor did I send it back. On 8-16-23 the installer arrived with the wrong carpet and pad. We refused both, installer notified his boss and he left. We called salesman who never called us back. We spoke to a manager who advised their carpet samples don’t always match what is delivered. He recalled that we wanted the 8 lb pad.

8-17-23 spoke with Empire corporate “Crystal” who we advised we were canceling our contract due to questionable practices of Empire and we wanted deposit back. Was told per page 10 of contract we will not get deposit back. She asked what she could do to make this right? We wanted our deposit. Was told if she was paying $3000 she would have read the contract and we should read contracts in the future. At first we said since you are keeping our deposit we have no choice but to go with empire and she’d send out a salesman. Then I called her back advising we refuse to be held hostage to Empire and we would see what we can do to file the appropriate complaints against Empire Today.

I called for 2+ hours and spoke to anyone and everyone that would listen and got absolutely nowhere with only a "someone will call you back within 24 hours." Alfred was the absolute worst customer service manager I have ever run across in any business and needs severe training before running off all customers. I was basically told, "Sorry, no one can get out there for another two days, we will not discount $1 for the inconvenience." I was told I could cancel but would lose my entire deposit of $1k. Needless to say I will NEVER use nor recommend this company to anyone. Please do your research as they have multiple negative reviews and I am just another one on the pile.

We purchased the vinyl plank flooring and it was installed on two stair areas, a hallway and two bedrooms. I knew that with Empire Today, we could make our decision and get the flooring installed in a short period of time, and that's what we needed. Empire told us to plan for a four-day window. The sales rep said they would probably get it done in three. But just in case, because I had contractors lined up back to back painting and tile, they said to leave four days. The crew came in and did it in two days. So, we had two extra days on our hands. We couldn't believe how fast, efficient and well done they did it in two days. They were great.

This was a 2007 townhome and the sales rep said the baseboards were those skinny old ones. And he said, "They're not gonna be able to take those off the way we do other baseboards. So, they're probably gonna have to use this little round kind of filler around the baseboards." He also said the painters would come in. So, they could paint them the same color as the baseboards, but that's what we would have to do. When the installers got there, the head guy said, "You're sure you don't want us just to take these baseboards off?" I said, "We were told you couldn't." He said, "Of course we can, especially if you're gonna have them painted." So, it was a better look and installation that they did that. And I appreciated him not just following the work order and asking me for sure if I didn't want those baseboards taken off and put back on. I'm very happy with that.

The flooring looks amazing. It matched the tile perfectly that was already in the kitchen and bathroom. Here's the only downside. It was very dirty when it was installed. They installed it and I knew that there would be dust on it. But walking around with no shoes on, your feet were black. It was so dirty. So, we've had to mop it many times to get it clean. But we got a good video that talked about the cleaning instructions. They said, "Don't put a heavy cleaner fluid on it. Dilute it."

The salesman with Empire Today explained the process to us and gave us recommendations on which room we should do. He did all the measuring. When he found out what direction we were thinking of going, he went out to his truck and brought samples in. He helped us pick out something that would go with the rest of the floors. We went with a waterproof laminate flooring.

On that particular day, the installers had one install ahead of us. They were very late in coming. I didn't think they were gonna make it that day. But they called me and said if it was okay, they would like to still come. We were expecting them by noon but they didn't get there till 7 o'clock in the evening. They worked till 10 o'clock and had the kitchen, the laundry room, and the pantry completely done. The living room was almost done. They weren't able to come back till a couple of days later and had it done within an hour or two. I've been pleased how fast it was. They had somebody that was sweeping up, somebody that was removing the carpeting and somebody removing the baseboards. The flooring is beautiful.

We had looked at flooring at other retailers. But because of Empire Today's in-home service, that made it a lot easier with lighting. The reps were knowledgeable, friendly, and showed up when they were supposed to. They installed it fine. They were done by the same day. The only thing that we were not happy about was where the seams of the carpet were. But the installer said that they had to follow the directions of the engineered papers they received from the person that measured. So, it wasn't them, and they couldn't change. Otherwise, if they ran out of carpet for some reason or they changed it, it would be on their plate to pay for that. So, wherever the measurer put the seam, somehow the computer told her to do it. But it was not in a good spot. We were not very happy with that. We could still see them a bit. But the installers did their best to make the seam look the best they could. The installers not only cracked the new drywall corners 5 in up the walls (visible beyond wall trim) but installed soiled carpeting. There are dark soiled marks in every room of the beige carpeting from either greasy tool stains or dirty shoes. Also, the installer left behind a 7-11 coffee cup without a lid, leaving a cup stain on the ledge of brand-new drywall in the hall where there is a faint blue hue in the carpet where the installer spilled his coffee onto the brand-new carpet and cleaned it up with one of my towels that was left in the bathroom. I have called customer service for 10 days now and every day I leave a voicemail which does not get returned.

After threatening to take this faulty company to small claims, I finally received a phone call from service manager, John **, claiming that he would take care of our complaints after I sent him pictures of the damages. The sales rep from Empire Today got me financing and he was able to get me deductions. The installers were amazing. They came two days later and I was given the window from 9:00 to 12:00, but they were here at 8:00 and done by 8:45. It was very super impressive. Empire Today went well above my expectations. We have a neighborhood group where people are often asking for recommendations and I'd absolutely recommend them. I'd say that they were very fast, they have quality products, and they have the best prices. It was so no fuss, no muss. Also, I didn't pick the most expensive carpet. I picked the rather cheaper carpet, but it's still an upgrade from what we had before and the room looks really beautiful.

I appreciate Empire Today so much. They've always been a tried-true company. We called them a long time ago to get quotes for carpet in our basement and even then, it was very reasonable. We ended up not carpeting the basement, but I am so pleased with how great a job and how wonderful the porch looks. And there's been no problems with the carpet. I asked for them to leave the remnant carpets because people had cleaned up my garage and, apparently, when my dad put in the carpet in the porch before, he saved the remnants and put them up on the ledge in the garage so if you put furniture and stuff up there, you have protection. And so, they happily left me the remnants. They were so wonderful with everything they did and they were very skilled at what they did. I've had a lot of contractor experiences and this is, by far, the best.

If we leave it, we'll have to cut a notch on your floor and you will be able to see that notch. But since you're not using that cable, we can cut it off and your floor will be perfect. There won't be a mark there." He cut the cable off. And I couldn't see that there was anything there.

He walked me around everything. We looked at the baseboards. We looked everywhere. And he said, "Is there anything that you don't like or have a problem with? We will come back out and we will fix it for free." They cleaned up everything. They mopped all the floors. They even took out the carpet and turned it upside down, and walked on the back of it so they wouldn't scrape any of the floors. My floor had three different sizes of wood. This one has two, but the color is perfect. It's so nice to mop the floor with the Swiffer.

The first guys that came were tremendous. They filled in all the holes and what was left when they pulled stuff up, and they moved furniture. They did a great job. We were more than pleased with them. We loved them. So, I asked to get them back the second time, but we didn't get them. We got this other guy that came by himself, and he wasn't as good, but he got the flooring down. He didn't have to pull anything out, so all he did was come in and put the flooring down. He got on his phone the whole time, and he had it on speaker. He was talking to somebody the whole time he's working. It wasn't as good of an experience. He wasn't as professional. There were some holes in the floor, and I asked him, "Are you gonna fill those in or something?" He said, "Oh, you don't have to do that. They're fine." The floor is in, and it looks great. We're more than happy with the floor. The overall quality is great.

But Empire Today was supposed to check and see on some of the stuff they didn't do. They started to get into a couple of the rooms, and there was asbestos. I had to get it abated. The abatement guys had to take the carpet up, then the other dudes didn't have to take the carpet up. Empire said we wouldn't have to pay their guys to take the carpet up. So, they would take that off our bill.

When the first crew came, we had this linoleum in our kitchen and our dining room area, and they said they couldn't take it up because it was glued down too hard. So, they were just gonna put the plank over the top so that they wouldn't charge us for pulling that up. Our salesman said he was gonna talk to somebody named Sarah, and they would take that off our bill, too. I never heard back about the adjustments, and it doesn't look like our account has ever gone down as well. I just never heard back how they were gonna adjust our balance. Maybe they're still working on it.

While the customer service representative was professional and curious, the resolution to a carpet installation issue was horrible. Empire Today's solution was to charge me $600 for carpet re-stretch instead of standing by their installer workmanship. Empire's warranty is 12 months. The buckling of the carpet is located in areas where there is a seam, which became apparent 15 months after install. Facts: carpet install was 15 months ago, carpet is low traffic (2 people at home), no pets, no steam cleaning, no furniture moves, home temperature 75 degrees. Company should be held accountable for poor workmanship.

The rep was the most positive experience that I had with Empire Today. But if I had to do it again, I wouldn't go with them. I had a laminate floor done in my living room and on the stoop heading up the stairs to my bedroom. I didn't think I would go with Empire Today because the prices are high with them. I met with a representative. Very friendly, customer-oriented, and our dog loved her. She came once, I said, "Nope." She came another time, I said, "Nope." She came a third time and I said, "Okay. What can you do for me?" And she pulled some tricks out of her bag and that I'd be financed. I have 12 months from the time I put the floor in to pay it off. For the size of the room that I got, I spent $4,000. And they said that they offered a special. "No, honey. No." So, if I had to do it again, I would wait. But I couldn't stand my floors in my living room and I wanted them done. I'm gonna pay it off.

The installers were very efficient until they got to my stoop. It took them almost an hour and a half to figure out how to put the wood on a stoop. They finally got it done. I'm very happy with it. But it shouldn't have taken almost two and a half hours to do it because it's the size of a dog crate. They were supposed to be professional installers. They should come in, boom, boom, boom, and be done.

But they covered up the furnace vents. It was a mistake because you have to have the vents open. So, we had to call the installers back to take care of that. Also, I called because I wanted another project, but they never got back to me. The rep said he would send something in the email about how many square feet there would be, but he never did. Empire Today's salesman helped me pick the right carpet for my home. The quality is good. The installers called 10 minutes out. When the two gentlemen came in, I said, "You know you have to move the sofa and the high bench table." But they said, "We don't move furniture." So, I had to go on to my phone and pull the contract and download it, print it out and show them where I had paid for them to move three pieces of furniture that I can move by myself, but I said, "I'm not going to do that because I don't wanna be moving it from left to right when they are doing it." I paid for them to move furniture. But when the installer came in, they tried to say that was not something that they do. They hemmed and hawed, but they went ahead and did it.

I've had other people who ordered from them, and they had the same challenge about the furniture moving. So it's something within Empire and the installers that we're paying for people to move. I have recommended Empire to several people and even my neighbor had the same experience as far as the installers not wanting to move furniture, and she paid for it. She's not as vocal. So, she called me over there to move her furniture. But I didn't know she had paid for it until after the fact. But everything else was good.

We had laminate flooring installed 2 years ago in our kitchen and connecting hallway & bathroom 2 years ago (2/20/21), and we have issues starting a couple months after it was installed. Instead of pulling up our vinyl flooring before laying down the new floor, as was described in the contract, the installers said it would be better to install over our existing vinyl flooring. They are the “experts”, so I did not argue. Now, instead of the kitchen floor looking "solid”, sections of flooring have been shifting, leaving gaps in multiple places in our flooring.

They recently sent out 2 different people to “assess” the issue. I heard back today with their assessment; this morning and it is absurd. They claim that the issue is caused "where the locking mechanisms have been damaged due to impact".... What does that even mean? There are gaps in 10 different locations on our floor...My wife and I live alone with our cat. She has a heart condition and I have Multiple Sclerosis, so what "impact" could we have caused? And now they want $3,370 to fix an issue that THEIR installers caused with their poor-quality work. I would never use Empire again and will be making my dissatisfaction known to as many people as I can.

My flooring install was scheduled for June 29th and 30th. The carpet was finally installed July 15th. We are still waiting for repairs on the improper tile install. They sold me tile that I later learned was unavailable (backordered for weeks), made me pay prior to install even though my contract specifically stated the balance was due on job completion (now I know why), the teams that came out had one guy that knew what he was doing - the rest, according to them, had never installed tile before. The installers made rude remarks about my family in Spanish which I unfortunately understood.

They knew nothing about the State of MD Dept of Ag quarantine zone and, from what I gathered after asking them, did not secure permits to dispose of the old flooring material. They left unsecured carpet and raw tile edges in my father's house for weeks - which was dangerous with his medical and mobility issues. There doesn’t seem to be anyone in charge of finishing the projects. Once I paid my salesman, Isaac **, he ghosted me and wouldn’t return my calls.

The tile installers had the kitchen, dining, entryway and 2 small bathrooms to complete but they were there for 14 hours. There were tiles turned the wrong way, large gaps (1/2 inch and more) left between the new floor and the trim, there was a copious amount of tile adhesive left on the tile. We had to hire a cleaning service to get that cleaned up so we wouldn’t be tripping over it. And still we are waiting for an inspector(?) to come look at the tile defects and fix them, or at least that’s what I was told at one point. The calls and e-mails I have sent to the office go unanswered and unreturned. Save yourself these troubles and go with another company.

We got vinyl flooring and carpet from Empire Today. I started the process online, then someone came out, showed us samples and the measurements, and gave us an estimate. Both of the guys we dealt with were really nice. For the vinyl flooring, the installation was super easy. The installers were in and out in less than an hour. It was put in a half bath, so it was a small room. Also, our subfloor was creaky and they got it to where it wasn't doing that anymore. So far, the new flooring looks great.

Then, we had carpet installed in three rooms and there was one guy there who was pretty much doing everything most of the time. Then, near the end, he had someone come and help him. I was really surprised at how fast they got everything done. We put the carpet in a different house that we own, and now, after seeing it, we think we should put that in our house as well. If we do any flooring, we'll probably go with Empire again. We've had nothing but good experiences with them. They were efficient and they gave us a decent price. The product is good, too, so I would highly recommend them to family and friends.

    Reviewed July 18, 2023

I checked with Empire Today first because of their reputation and they've been around forever. Then when I called to get information from them, they were right out and took care of all my questions and showed me what was there, and got it all rolling. I had carpet installed in three bedrooms, a den, a dining room and a living room. I went with the least expensive one because I'm not rolling in dough. And now I've got a big fat payment. The two guys who did the installation were great. They helped quite a bit. The hardest part of the whole thing was having to empty my house. But that's not their fault. Literally, it was like moving since I was doing all the rooms. The house was basically vacant but they got it done in good time and did a good clean-up.

My daughter and I had taken the closet doors down so they would be out of their way and when they were done, they asked if we wanted them to put them back up. And we said we could do it. When we put them up, we found out that the installers hadn't taken the carpet or padding out underneath the strip, so none of my closets would open or shut because it was too tight. We adjusted them all the way out, up at the top and at the bottom, and there was just no way. So, I ended up having to complain a little bit. If they would have installed them differently, they would be okay. They were trying to tell me how you need to trim the door. But this type of door is made out of metal. They had to come back and I suggested they cut the carpet just underneath the strip so the strip sets down farther, which was what they did. And it worked. They completed it and they all worked perfectly after they left the second time.

The customer service set up the appointments and did the kind of things you'd expect them to do. A couple of installers brought someone who didn’t speak or understand English. It was no big deal. It’s just that it was uncomfortable because I had to keep asking the other guy all the questions. But that's the way the world is now, so I didn’t take it too seriously. They were very professional and accommodating. When the guy came back the second time, there was a little bit of an argument between him and me. He said there was nothing they could do to fix the closet doors and that it was not part of what they do. I said I just paid $6,000 and I'd hoped he would do it. So, we started troubleshooting.

My daughter came up because she lives next door and she had to get the doors off. Because the guy was so short, he was having a hard time lifting it enough to pop it off so he could work on it. But once we got those off, everything was good. He even told me that he'd been doing it for 30 years and that he was thankful because now he knew something that he didn't know before. They had never cut that strip out. I got the idea from seeing somebody do it and I knew what it was. The customer service rep told me that, if necessary, they would give me the bottom strip that it guides in. I asked if the guy was gonna have them so that if something happens, he's got them with him. And the rep said the guy carries them on the truck.

The installers weren't planning on putting new strips on, only redoing mine. Mine were screwed down and he removed all the screws and nailed them down. I asked him why he would do that and he said it's because the screw head sticks up too much. It's been in there all these years and we're unable to adjust them ourselves because they're nails. He totally worked to please me. But there was a little bit of back and forth. I didn't appreciate him changing it over to nails because the reason you have screws is so you can adjust them up or down.

I started out saying the service was great and I made it sound bad but it wasn't. But there were challenges that I had. I had to pay extra but there were five items that we left in the house because they had a way of being able to move it around. And you pay extra to have the installers move anything that's too heavy for me to take out. So, that was helpful. I had three beds, one in each bedroom that they moved out of the way until they did the room and then moved it back in. The guy was very nice to save my room for last.

I have used Empire in the past and had great results but the company has obviously changed and not for the better. I had new LVP flooring installed in 2021. The installation was done horribly and the floor looks atrocious after spending $10,000!! I have had them out multiple times before my warranty expired. The first gentleman agreed that it was an installation issue and even described the people who installed it saying they have had to repair a lot of the floors they installed and they no longer work there. But they never wrote a ticket for the buckling of the floors until after the expiration of the warranty and are now blatantly lying about the cause.

In one area they said the floor is buckling because I use it as an office with a roller char. I do not own a roller chair. Another area they are blaming on moisture although the moisture reading showed 0.00. Another area is due to my 1973 house settling so much over the last year even though my windows and doors close perfectly which would also be an issue with tremendous settling of the foundation. The quarter round is separating from the wall which was blamed on me walking through the house. I am 5’6” and weigh 160.

So according to their assessment, you cannot walk on their floors, have a lightweight dining room chair on the floor and cannot clean the floors or they will blame you for the buckling. I paid for an assessment from a floor installer as well as a foundation company that greatly differs from their assessment. Do NOT use this company. I do not want anyone to experience what I have had to go through and want to warn everyone. $10,000 is too much money to still be dealing with this. I wish I could attach pictures. I recorded the gentleman who came out for the assessment and his words do not match the end result. In summary, they are very expensive and you will not get what you pay for with Empire.

I regret the decision every day I look at my floors. Maybe they only take advantage of single women who have a disability but trust me when I say it is not worth the risk of losing as much money as I have lost. And if you have already procured their services, I would add the extended warranty because of the horrible install they do. If you plan to clean your floor, or if you want to walk on them and put furniture on them then you will need the extended warranty. I am debating contacting an attorney with my inspection reports and the video of the assessment that shows no moisture and shows the gentleman saying we cannot tell fully until we pull the floor up but they have decided. I suppose he did not think this old lady would have a go pro but she does!! I cannot stress enough to make a better decision than I did and go with a different company!!

I said I told him it was up to the landlord and he wasn't gonna go for anything more than he was willing to pay. I patted the guy on the shoulder and he said, “Don't touch me.” I got in touch with Empire Today the second time and the rep managed to come up with a price that the guy said he could do it.

The installation was awkward because the carpet guys came and then, the tile guys came. They left carpet that I was tripping over but I finally got my neighbor to take one of the little remnants. The installers also left a bag and I’m gonna see if my landlord or the guy next door wants it. I was upset about their leaving remnants, things, and carpet. But I'm gonna use some of it on the patio. In any event, it's done and I like the carpet. They're nice and soft. But when the guys are putting in the carpet, they should wear booties or something on their shoes so they're not getting any outside dirt on the new carpet. My landlord came by and he said he liked the tiles but I don't. The lady didn't have any tile samples to show me so what I thought I was getting wasn't what I got. Other than that, I would recommend Empire to anybody because they gave us a good deal and the installation was done in a day so I wouldn't have to be too inconvenienced.

But I had to have the quarter round shoe molding changed because they put white down and it didn't go well with the wood grain floor. Other than that, I love my new flooring. If you're in a hurry, call Empire. They were quick about getting the job done.

I had tiles installed in my family room and the bathroom, and it was installed by two people. It took over eight hours and I called them back because the tile didn't look flat. But they said it was flat to them. So, I called Empire Today and they sent the same guys that put the tile down back to check it. So, I called and asked them why they would send the same people down. They said it’s what they do to check the work. It could have been the grout that the installers put down. It could have been uneven. But the carpet in my family room was installed by a lady and she came with a young man. I was totally shocked because when she came to the door, I asked if the man was coming to help her and she said no. She took her time and I liked the way she did her work. I don't even know if she took a break. It took all day and even until the night. She had to pick up the old carpet and moved the furniture around. She was excellent.

The carpet has grayish colors in it and it makes the room look elegant. I was pleased with it and I would recommend Empire Today to do the carpet. They did the carpet for me years ago and it was a good job. But for the tile, people need to look for other people because I wasn't too happy with it. It's a beautiful tile and I've seen it laid at other people’s houses. But I’m not totally satisfied because I don't see that.

We had used Empire Today previously. This time around, we got carpet for our daughter's town home. The sales rep was great. We didn't have any issues with the sales rep, but Empire hires third-party installers, and the installers were an absolute disaster. The process to notify you of when they're coming all the way through the installation process with an installer is not done well. I have already advised Empire that the process was poor. We specifically told them when we purchased, and it was on the paperwork. The sales rep did represent us correctly, but we were very clear that we needed to be present for the installation. So, we needed sufficient notice so that we could be there. We were 30 minutes away from where the installation was taking place.

We got no notice other than when they called and said, "We'll be at your home in 15 minutes." They woke me up out of sleep which is fine. I understand they start early in the morning but they could have called the night before and say, "We're coming in tomorrow." I asked specifically, "Are we the first stop, the last stop? Can you ballpark me a time?" They could not give me any answer. So, I accepted that and moved on. At 7 o'clock in the morning, when I got a call saying, "We're 15 minutes out" and they were not supposed to start until 8:00 AM, and it's 7 o'clock in the morning, I can't move that fast even if I wanted to.

When I spoke to Empire, they explained, "Well, we're very sorry. We didn't mean for that to happen. That happened because we do hire third-party contractors this, that and the other." I said, “Well, that's all fine and dandy, but you need to figure out a way to work that communication out.” My daughter is now in the town home by herself, and she was really hoping for our guidance. We were flying down the road trying to get there. We just told our daughter, "Don't let them start until we get there." We didn't know what else to do.

Then the problem got even worse because the installer showed up. He spoke very little English. He walked in the house with my daughter and said, "Oh, by the way, I brought my wife." It was weird and fine because his wife ended up being "his helper". But when you watch videos and you receive commercial reviews and other reviews for Empire, that's not the image that is portrayed to you when somebody shows up with their wife and says, "I'm here to install your carpet." It was just a little bit weird. It's acceptable if this particular installer's wife was his helper. Instead of saying, "I brought my wife," he should have said, "My helper and I are ready to get started." We moved past that.

All this took place while we were on the phone on our way to our daughter's town home. Our daughter called back and said they said they don't take apart furniture. That was when I really got angry because we had the discussion with the sales rep, and we specifically said there's no furniture in the home as you can see. It was literally the day after settlement. There was no furniture in the home. We asked the sales rep, "Is it okay if we put my daughter's bed up, just the bed so that she has a place to sleep for the next morning?" We explained the bed to him, and he said, they can move furniture. We watched the preparation video that Empire sent us, which clearly spelled out that they will move pieces of furniture. They explained how they do it.

The installer got upstairs with his wife and took a look at the bed and said, "Well, we don't take apart furniture." So now my daughter was standing there going very confused because she was there when the sales rep said it. It was written on the paperwork and in the contract that they do do it. Then the process was then delayed because now my husband and I were rushing to get there so that my husband can run up the stairs and take a bed apart. So, the installation went poorly because of that.

The carpet was installed beautifully. He did a nice job. His helper wife cleaned up everything. There was a couple little spots on the stairs where we asked him to make some changes to how the carpet was installed. But other than that, the installation in and of itself was done fine. The carpet is beautiful. There were no issues with that. The problem is with Empire hiring third-party representatives that come in and install. Empire has to work harder to get a communication system in place so that more feedback is given to the customer as to what to expect and when to expect it. Even the sales rep called me back after the install and said, “That should never have happened because your contract says they will do that.” That was very disappointing. They owned up to it though.

Empire had the best price. The salesperson did fine and was personable and knowledgeable. The installation was fine. It took two days. I think they didn't have a lot of people there. Two people showed up on a Saturday and did about half of it, and they ended up coming back on Sunday, but it was only one person that really did the work. The guy that was there on Saturday had already had some prearrangement. So, he couldn't come back with the guy that came back on Sunday. I don't know if they didn't realize it was gonna be as big as it was because I would have thought they would have come with like four people, but they didn't. The only complaint I might have is that, unfortunately, the installers didn't speak very good English, so it made it a little difficult to communicate with them. Outside of that, it was fine. The carpet is good. I got what I paid for.

I had a problem with the contract in the beginning because the representative put figures down that were very questionable. He corrected it but they showed up later when I got the contract through email. That made me feel leery about dealing with Empire but they corrected that. Also, they didn't have the carpet I chose in stock and they didn't let me know until the day of the installation. Things started bumpy and I wasn't expecting to incur all of this.

The installation schedule was on a Saturday and they sent someone out to bring us some more floor samples so we could choose something that they could install that Tuesday. Everything got put in and the installation went off okay. The installers did a great job and it was done in less than a day. The carpet looks good and we're satisfied with what we eventually got. But those things that happened in the beginning was crucial because it led me to believe that maybe I should have not even dealt with Empire. I would recommend them but I would have some ifs.

When the installers came down, they did not have the required amount of product to install all on one day. They got it partially done the first day, then they had to come back the second day and finish it up. They couldn't understand me and I couldn't understand them. With the exception of the installation crew and their screw-up in not bringing enough product, everything was great. I like the flooring. The quality is so far, so good.

She was able to give us some incentives such that if we booked that day, we would get a discount. We worked the price down to something we could afford. We got laminate flooring and once we booked, the installers were here four days later. The installation was a little difficult but they were done within one day.

Because the new flooring is water resistant, we had a couple of incidents where it bubbled when we were washing the floor. Also, there are a couple of nicks on the floor from baby toys being dropped. We were told that wouldn't happen but it did. Other than that, the quality of the floor is good.

Empire Today came over and talked to us and they showed us samples and we didn't have to run around to the store. Then they could do it right away. We didn't have to wait for contractors. It was quick. We had a kitchen flooring put in and it was like a linoleum. Everything went good with the exception of when the guy came over, he told us we would have to have the stove moved out, and disconnected from the gas, which was fine so we did. But he didn't tell us we had to move the refrigerator.

When the installation guys came, they kind of spoke a different language and it was hard to understand what they were saying. But they were upset with me because the refrigerator wasn't moved. The rep told me if there was anything else to move, they would move it. When I turned around and look, they were digging in my fridge and taking all my food out and putting it out on the counters. I understand that they were trying to move the fridge. They said it was too heavy to move with all the food in it. But I really didn't like strangers digging in my refrigerator, touching all my food, which was kind of gross. They put all the food in the sink and all over the place. They were nice that they did it, but I wish the guy would have told us ahead of time because we would have done it ourselves.

When they were done, they didn't put the trim on. We picked out a nice yellow trim and ordered it. But they said, “Oh, well, there's nothing on here about trim.” I said, “We ordered trim, we picked out the color.” They had some funny white trim out in their car that they wanted to put on, and I did not want that because white would show all the dirt and be gross. So they made phone calls and then they had to go to a warehouse. They didn't get the color I wanted, but it was close enough. Other than that, everything was fine. They were pleasant and nice. They were fast and they did a nice job. We like the flooring. It looks good and we're happy with it. So we had a pretty good experience.

We did wall-to-wall carpet and the installation was okay. But there were a couple of things that we weren't super happy with. We didn't get too much of a heads-up on the installers' arrival. Also, when they arrived, it was in a beat-up van that didn't have Empire on it. The installers worked hard and quickly but they didn't speak any English. So, it was hard to communicate with them in terms of any notes about the projects. I wanted to just tell them to be careful about certain things, but they couldn't understand what I was saying. So, that part was a bit tricky.

The installation also took a lot longer than we were told upfront. When we communicated with Empire, they said it might take four hours but it ended up taking two hours more than that. That was a little disappointing. Other than a couple of spots that aren't fantastic, the installation ultimately was good. The quality of our new flooring seems good. But it's easy to see where the seams are. I was under the impression that it would be a bit more seamless.

This wasn't the best experience I've had with flooring. I ended up getting vinyl and the sales rep was really nice. I told her what I wanted and I didn't want to break the bank. But flooring is not cheap. Doing the sales visit at home sucks 'cause I didn't get to see a lot of samples. But I was happy with what I picked and the installation was nice. The techs didn't have to rip up the floor in the living room but it took them the entire day. So it seemed like it took a really long time to lay vinyl in two rooms. In the living room, there were some spots where the vinyl was cut roughly and it didn't match up to the wall and the floor. Other than that, the bathroom was fine. It looked great. But whoever's gonna use Empire Today needs to ask a lot of questions and really be on top of it.

The thing that really got me is the amount of vinyl that I had left over. It pissed me off. Why did they order that much? Why did I pay for that much vinyl? It's completely useless. There was a roll and half of vinyl. Did they not measure? It did not make sense to me. I was a little upset about that.

He was like, "Oh, I didn't do it." I said, "Look, that wasn't broken. Nothing was broken before you came. So that needs to be fixed." They fixed that but I knew that if I hadn't addressed that, it wouldn't have been. Other than that, the flooring was great. They did an excellent job. The floor is beautiful. Empire did a good job of installing the tiles in the master bath with an attached walk-in closet but I was disappointed because the tile floor was left dirty and had grout on it. I had to get down and scrub them. There was also grout on the baseboards. But the flooring looks good and the quality seems fine.

Empire Today did a great job. It's the second time I've used them, and it's amazing how the competition wants to beat Empire up. Empire's product and their people were good and the price was very good as well. The only thing I found that they didn't do well was they were bundling up old stuff, extra pieces of carpet, and weren't paying attention and tossed a bunch of them next to my walkway, right into my planting bed. That aggravated me a little. They were putting it out there, then kicked it to the side, and I had to clean up my planting bed a bit.

They did a great job, and I love the flooring. I just wish that they did the stairs, because now, I have to look for someone to do it. Other than that, the warranty is good. I felt much more comfortable with Anthony, who was the guy from Empire Today that came out to show us the product, and to help with financing which was another key factor along with the actual installers, who I felt treated us like royalty. They were so helpful. They moved things. Before they would start work on a particular area, they'd make sure that I knew what area they would work in, if I needed to come that way, or how long it would be before they would be finished with that particular area. They were very considerate of my comfort, my time, and how things were going for me.

My floors are beautiful. It increased the value of my home. It has been a spectacular experience. As soon as we take care of this one, we're going to have our dining room done. And we'll come back to Empire for that. I was very pleased to be able to tell others that we did ours through Empire. They couldn't go wrong. I have been dealing with this company for MANY years, and NEVER had an issue, UNTIL I moved to Ohio. I had Empire come out and install flooring in my upstairs and the staircase of my home (Dec 2021). Shortly after (little less than a month) I noticed (in the staircase) that the flooring was separating and or coming apart and some stairs it was really loose, I called customer service and spoke with "Paul?" I was told that he would "look into it and get back with me" a week and a half went by, no news, no phone call, no email, I called "Paul" back got his VM and left a msg. 63 days later I get a VM from "Paul" apologizing profusely and explaining a family emergency was to blame and how I wasn't forgotten. Never heard from Paul after that.

3 months maybe went by and I called Paul, and got a recorded msg saying, "Your extension is not available?". Okay, so I called the main CS # and spoke with a "Beverly" long story, short, the EXACT same bs that happened with Paul, happened with Beverly. This has now been about 9 months since my flooring was installed. I call customer service again, THIS TIME, I get "Victoria" and so many apologies and excuses about management and being short-handed and hows she's been there for many years blah blah blah "I'm so very sorry, I'm not going to let this happen again to you, I'm going to look into this and get installs to come out and take a look" 3 months went by... Nothing!! See the pattern??? I surely didn't!

Fast forward to beginning of May 2023 Customer service and I are on the phone and I get a date for the "assessors" to come out and take a look at my flooring to make a decision on whether or not they'll be able to apply my warranty to the job they did back in 2021. I explain to the woman in the phone, that I don't get off work till 11am and could she put that in my notes since there's NO TIMEFRAME she could give me other than a "2 hour window" that they'll call and tell you they're on their way. (That didn't happen. They showed up at my home while I was at work, calling my cell, saying, were going to have to set up another time to come out since I'm not there) WTH??? Nothing in my notes I guess.

Again fast forward to TODAY! I get approved for them to fix the flooring and today is install day (YEAH) I get a phone call from a Thomas (while I'm at work) saying that "your assessment didn't come through and your flooring is not in and we can't find out what we're supposed to do, and to please call him back ASAP" YOUVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!?!! So the woman (Kendra) who set up the assessment, install and product delivery TOLD ME, "We have everything we need to fix your flooring. They'll be out on 6/12 to install and I'll make a note on here that you're at work till 10" COMPLETELY DROPPED THE BALL! So I check my email (from Kendra) just to make sure I'm not getting my stuff mixed up, I see a phone # with an ext# directly to her desk. I call the # is another person's ext (what happened to Kendra???) So Thomas left me with saying, "I'm going to look into this, and see what I can find out, give me 1 week."

Empire did some flooring for me years ago and they did good work. I used them this time around too and had them install a wood product. They're planks. My sales rep was new and I was his first client. He seemed nice and accommodating. He answered my questions. If he didn't know the answer, he would call his boss. I could hear both sides of the conversation and it's pretty interesting. I was his last client on this one because he got promoted to a residential business. When he heard that I was gonna get some more flooring, he asked if he could take it.

The installer was very nice and accommodating. He did the work in a day and he did good work. He went a little beyond the call of duty in making the floor look really nice. He cleaned up afterwards. It looked really good. I like the flooring and it was exactly like the rep explained it to me. Just looking at the pictures, it was in the laminate family and wondered if I should wax it. The installer explained to me that I can just Swiffer it. I have one of those.

A couple of my friends asked me who did my floors and I told them. They mentioned that they saw the commercials on TV and maybe they might use Empire. One thing that I was a little bit confused about was their advertisement that said, "$99 a room". When I got my second order, the person said their deal is you don't have to pay for the material. You pay for the installation. When they called me about it, the person mentioned the $99 a room for the material. But when the appointment time came, he didn't show up. Nobody called. I texted back a few hours later asking, "Is it that you want to reschedule?"

It was longer than a couple days when somebody else called me and wanted to know if I wanted to reschedule. This was when the person said to me also about just paying for the installation. But the guy that came out that talked to me said they've already removed that stuff. When my appointment time came around, the promotion was gone. That felt weird. If they had come out when I had the initial appointment, it would have been within that margin. I didn't feel good about that. But I had really planned for that little space to get done and taken care of. All in all if I take away that little mishap, I really like the person that came and explained things. I really like the installer as well.

We had a couple of different products picked out from different companies and the rep was trying to work pricing with us. He talked us through financing and made that super easy. So overall, he was very friendly. When he came out, another gentleman showed up who was in training. They had never met before and so we kind of got to listen to him training the other gentleman. That was pretty cool.

With the installation of the carpet, the gentleman called before showing up. The installers showed up on time and totally courteous. Unfortunately, they had run out of carpet so they had to contact their person. We're in Fayetteville, North Carolina and they had to go up to Boston to get more. They were awesome about rescheduling. We had the carpet installed on Friday and they came up Monday and did the install of the last room, which was great. That Monday morning, they called again before they showed up. They showed us the product. So that was fantastic. The crew was very courteous. Everything was wonderful.

We had the vinyl flooring put in our kitchen on a Saturday. Those gentlemen did not call before they came. They showed up early in the morning but I let them in because I wanted my flooring done. They were quick. They were gentle with all of our furniture. They did a fantastic job. The only thing was that none of them spoke very clear English. The one gentleman who was trying to do most of the communicating had to reach out to somebody else to speak to me. It wasn't necessarily a horrible thing, but it can be a safety issue for them and for us. But they were nice, courteous, clean, and respectful. We love the flooring. We are totally satisfied. The product that came was exactly the product that was shown to us. There was no variation in color or texture. Everything was fantastic. My only suggestion would be to put at least one person on the crew that could communicate more effectively.

When I had my new floors put in, I used Empire again. They had to completely replace my whole floor because of problems but I still had a problem afterwards. I had to have the installer come back and fix a few things, and there are a few things I'm still taking care of. The installer said that everything would be fine for now, and that they could come back and fix the rest later. There are a few places where it doesn't seem like the flooring is lying flat. It seems a little puffy. There were also places where the trim they put in didn't meet properly. I could have done better than this, and I don't do woodworking.

I had a spot where they put in the trim piece that went over the top of the stair that goes downstairs. The nail went through, and I ripped my finger open on it. I shouldn't have had to check to make sure there were no nails sticking through. The floor squeaks at the top of the stairs. The installer said that's my underlayment. I've been in this house for 35 years and my floors never squeaked. I'm not happy with that and they didn’t do anything about that.

The carpet is beautiful, but we wanted something that was more dense. When you walk on it, you could feel that another person had walked on it. It does not come back up. I am very busy running a dog training business out of the home and I needed somebody that could come to me and bring me samples. I liked that Empire's website had a little option where I could take pictures. They kind of did this virtual overlay that gave me an idea of what the flooring might look like in the room even before the consultant guy came out with the samples. I liked him a lot. He was really good and prepared. I gave him my thoughts about looking online and what I was looking for. He showed me those and a few other options. In the end, we found a nice medium meeting ground place for what I wanted versus what my husband wanted as far as price point and quality.

I had two different spaces done and for safety reasons, I stuck with replacing the carpet on the stairway itself and for the master bedroom and the upstairs hallway, they pulled the carpet and had the engineered hardwood flooring installed. I had two different crews -- one was the wood crew and one was the carpet crew. The installation had to be scheduled on different days and I was trying to get the bedroom taken care of before I went out of the country. The wood was done before the staircase carpet and the only issue was that at the very top where the carpet installer did the transition, he felt he could have done that better if the staircase was done first. The wood guys didn't wanna leave their job not finished so they put a little cap over and the carpet guy had to work around the cap instead of going under it. It looks great but from his point of view, he would have liked to have done the carpet first.

They were very professional and did a good job. The only thing I wasn't anticipating was that my dogs would have to be crated the entire time. When they were working upstairs, I figured I could just secure and keep them downstairs but they needed to be able to go in and out of the house and saw outside instead of in my room. It totally made sense. I just wasn't mentally prepared for that. One of the dogs is my seizure alert service dog and having to crate him could have been problematic but I just stayed in the room where he was. It was fine. I understand why they needed to do that. Also, when they had their lunch break, they took lunch outside so that I could let the dogs out and told me to let them know when I'm ready. They were really accommodating with that.

I'm liking the flooring a lot. The carpet is much nicer than the carpet that I had before. It was a different texture so that the dogs weren't trying to paw at it like they were with the last one. And I love the engineered hardwood floor. I was concerned at first because the boards are thicker. There was a thinner option but the consultant said that this exact same floor and a wider board was on sale. It was a difference of close to $3,000. He said he felt that this would be a good option for me and he was right. I am happy with it. I've got three other bedrooms and I'm gonna have them put the same engineered hardwood in those because I was very happy with them.

We purchased carpet flooring for the home. We chose Empire Today because of how soon they were able to come out, and their turnaround time was really appealing. It was beneficial for us because we were looking to make a change fairly quickly. The installation was good. But it was a little rocky. The installers that came out didn't really speak very good English. So it made it a little difficult to communicate with them on what we needed. Also, there were some concerns with the baseboards when they installed them. It's a brand-new house so the baseboards were all secured to the wall. But after they installed them, there were issues where the baseboards were popping out. So trying to communicate to them to fix that was a little challenging, but nothing that we weren't ultimately able to rectify. The cost and quality were right in line with what we were looking for.

I had four bedrooms done with carpet and the remainder of the house was done in porcelain tile. The cost was roughly around the same vicinity as other companies. But with Empire, they actually sent a tech to the house to measure everything and go over the whole process with us. So that was kind of nice. One of the sales reps came out and walked us through what the process would be. The tech brought samples of everything with them. They had different types of tile, colors, carpeting and padding.

The removal process was dirty and dusty. So we took precautions ahead of time to wrap our cabinets and made it a little easier for them to get in and remove it. We moved some of the furniture to different rooms for them. So we were proactive towards it. The first crew that came out was the tile installers. They demoed the tile that was existing, and removed all the baseboards. So we did get new baseboards as well. Then they cleaned everything up, and made sure it was level and they mopped it up. Then they started laying their tile immediately. Once that happened, it was about five days later when we had the carpet installers come in. Those guys were efficient. There were two of them and they did four rooms in just a couple of hours. It was unbelievable.

The only issue that I had was with the baseboard installer. I have oak cabinets, and he came and did some quarter round molding around there that was not satisfactory at all. So I did have to call the company and talk about it. Then they came out and fixed that. The baseboard that was installed was claimed to be that you don't need to paint it. But it is starting to delaminate already and I've only had it for a month. Other than that, everything is gorgeous. This porcelain 36-inch plank tile changed the entire dynamic of the home. We didn't do anything to the wall or paint but the tile makes it look brand new and very nice.

During the installation, my wife and I took everything out with the kids. We stripped all the baseboards down 'cause I didn't want them to have to do all that. Three techs came over and measured it all out. They knocked the job out pretty quickly. They took away all the old carpet. They were super polite and easygoing guys. I like the density of the new carpet. It looks good when it's all vacuumed up. My Roomba goes over it simply.

Saved. On 5/2/23 I had Empire to come out for the $99 special they were running. When Chris the salesman arrived I asked him about the $99 deal, I asked what is the labor and padding cost for my room, he never quoted on that and didn't want to talk about the $99 deal. After several attempts to get information about that deal out of him with no results I expressed to him that I am a 30+ year salesman in what I do and that the $99 deal is just to get before the customer to up sale.. His reply was, and I quote "YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT AND IF YOU KNEW THAT WHY AM I OUT HERE WASTING MY TIME AND YOURS." I was floored when he told me that, so essentially there is no $99 special but Chris is such a smooth talker. He brought me back around and like an idiot I bought from him.

Chris brought samples of carpet in from his car, I expressed, this seems very thin and could matte easily, he assured me that it wouldn't and went on to explain the padding I would be getting makes all the difference and the technology of the carpet would not allow it to matte because it springs back once stepped on. I bought it hook, line and sinker..

After the carpet was installed I was very dissatisfied. The padding made no difference at all, when walking on it especially without shoes it is the equivalent of thin carpet laid over a field of dirt with pebbles in it. I can feel every padding seam and padding lumps, in some places my feet sinks to the concrete sub floor and tac strips sting the bottom of my feet at entrance ways. Two of my neighbors came over to walk on the carpet and they both agreed with me, one of them stepped on a tack strip and her foot bled out.

I called Empire to express my concerns wanting what I had spent to go towards better carpet, I spoke to Michelle the manager, she accused me of having buyers remorse and wanting something for free, I never asked for anything free, I was willing to pay more if I could get an adjustment for the crappy carpet. Michelle told me I would be responsible to pay full price for new carpet and no price adjustments would be made. At this point I'm fed up so I sent Michelle an email asking to come get the carpet and give me a refund, she told me that wasn't going to happen.

Had Chris brought a sample of padding and carpet for me to step on I would not have bought it. The carpet is now matted in the traffic areas, I've vacuumed to no avail. It looks like two different types of carpet was installed, traffic areas verses low traffic areas. Empire will not do anything about it. No customer satisfaction or customer service at all.. THIS CARPET IS PATHETIC AND THEY'RE MAKING ME LIVE WITH IT.. I was lied to about the performance of the carpet.

They were just polite and thorough. They found possible asbestos in three of the rooms and two months later, I still haven't finished having my floor installed. They've installed about 60% of the flooring. The installers won't disturb anywhere where there might be asbestos.

I need to find someone to abate and Empire didn't give me anybody. I had to find someone for the testing myself. Once they came back, I had to find the person for the pavement myself. Just trying to get things scheduled for after the abatement and trying to get some of the customer service staff to call me back was painful. That aside, I love my flooring.

The vinyl sheet flooring is measured in two parts. The wear part on top that wears away when you step on it and the backing. But online, they don't tell you how many millimeters each product is as you look at it. They don't have the price per square foot either. Basically, you get an estimate from a estimator who comes to your house, and it's all-inclusive price, with installation too.

The guy had some samples to show me and I was able to pick out the ones that he said were the ones they had on sale. There wasn't a lot to choose from and the carpet was cheap and thin. You get what you pay for. I had carpet installed downstairs in one room.

Two guys came out and installed the carpet. When they showed up, they said, “The guy didn't include the stairs.” I said I requested the stairs going downstairs and behind my bar. They didn't have enough carpet to do the stairs so they had to order more carpet. When they came behind the bar, they said they didn't have enough carpet for behind the bar. This was a second time. They had leftover carpet so I just rolled it up behind the bar, but it's not laid. It's not quite enough. I was disappointed with that.

But then when the guys called the salesperson, he said, “You told me that you were going to end up putting flooring instead behind the bar.” I said, “No. I decided to put it behind the bar, too.” I didn't want to sit there and argue about it so I said, “Just whatever.” They did the stairs and the downstairs. Behind the bar, I rolled what they had left over but it was not down with a pad.

Empire was okay. You get what you paid for $1,200. My friend warned me against going with Empire because she said somebody else she knows had an experience where they didn't lay the carpet down properly. It was coming up. When they called to get it fixed, they were not being very accommodating. But I said I was just gonna go with them because I bought the carpet from Home Depot supposedly but they delivered the carpet from these two guys that came from Detroit. They were contractors.

Also, the floor tile in the kitchen came out good. The installers saw a couple of issues with the upstairs and they fixed it while they were here at no additional charge. It was awesome for them to go above and beyond for us and they got it finished within two days. The quality of the flooring was very good, especially with the kitchen. You got heavy appliances in there and the majority of my stuff slides good on it and doesn't scruff up the flooring. Empire Today did the financing through Wells Fargo and we did a down payment so, we have 5,000 left to pay off on the floor. I've dealt with Wells Fargo before and they know my payment history. So, it wasn't that much of an issue to put out there and approve it.

I would recommend Empire because of the professionalism not only of the sales rep but also of the installers, where they were trying to be quick and showed concern because we have indoor animals that can't go outside.
