Jordan came out to the house last night and wrote a bunch of chicken scratch down on the back of the "Pricing Worksheet". Did not have the samples I asked for on the phone when I set up the visit. Told me I needed 47 cartons to cover the area and said it would be $22,230 but they were having a 50% off sale as advertised and that it would only be $13,655. I'm not a math wizard but half of 22 is 11? I got an "urgent message" from the "Offer Team" so I scanned the sheet of paper with the chicken scratch and told them I had no clue what any of it meant. Needless to say, they never replied.

I called the "Offer Team" and spoke to two different call takers, neither of which had a clue. One told me 47 cartons is about 1,000 sf. So I asked her why it was $22.23 a sf and she had no clue but told me they messed and can do it for much less at $12,000 by her calculations which would be $24,000 at full price. She got confused when I told her that was more. I can do what I'm trying to for about half of their 50% offer at the competitors full price.

I purchased vinyl from Empire Today 2 and 1/2 years ago. Initially it had to be totally reinstalled because the installers did an extremely poor job. Now the vinyl is cracking and getting wear holes because it is so soft and cannot withstand normal kitchen usage. My husband and I are senior citizens, we have no small children and don't wear stiletto heels! I have lived in homes where vinyl lasted 15-20 years. This vinyl is not even making it to three years! Even though Empire advertises lifetime warranties on the products it sells, they have informed me that because they no longer carry this pattern. They can't do anything about this situation. It is completely unacceptable that a product is wearing out even before it is completely paid for!

I had carpet installed and was like walking on rocks from bad pad. They reinstalled new carpet. Same problems not as lumpy but you can feel bad spots by walking on it. Plus it is coming up in a lot of areas. They sent someone out a PRO that said it was my floor. Really my old carpet was fine on my floor. My old carpet I wish I had back was a lot better than this. Saved a long time to replace my carpet in my whole house. I hate it. They charged me for the second installation that I was making payments on even though they should have paid it and they turned me into collections. First time in my whole life I have always paid my bills on time. My kitchen was torn up twice with new flooring and still looks bad. They are a terrible company and I would never recommend them to anybody. Their products are cheap junk. You get what you pay for. I will never be able to save enough to this again. I made a BIG MISTAKE using EMPIRE.

I chose Empire Today over other brands because they can do the installation the next day. I had carpet on the stairs and had them install a vinyl floor, but they were planks, not peel-and-stick. I've been meaning to call them to ask them to come back out because they have to fix my threshold because when they put the floor, it was higher than the carpet. They just stuck the threshold there and I can't shut the door.

Showed up with wrong supplies, left and never returned that day. Waited 8 hours. Once tile installed it was uneven, grout thick and thin, one tile loose after a week, and the area was a mess with handprints all over the walls. Installation Manager admitted a horrible job however has yet to settle the situation. Installation was in October. Supposedly an area manager was going to call me. Waiting two weeks now with no one returning my calls. They have been paid in full already.

11/5 Carpet install for four rooms. One room not available. Asked that I not pay for the room I wasn't receiving until I actually get it. $1180.08 removed from bill. 11/7 Called sales rep to inform him I was unhappy with one of the rooms carpet as well as item missing from daughter's room. 11/13 Sales rep scheduled to meet with me at 10 am. 10:45 no sales rep. Call him, he won't be able to get to house for another 45 minutes. Had to go back to work so scheduled a 6pm appt. 6pm sales rep gets to house, takes pictures of carpet and discuss missing item from daughter's room. Nothing he can do but contact his managers. Asked for a breakdown of each room. Still no 4 room carpet.

11/14 Email from sales rep stating he sent out an email to all managers at Empire Regional and I should hear from someone by Monday. 11/17 Sent email to sales rep informing I haven't heard from anyone. Asked again for a breakdown of each room. That evening get breakdown from sales rep. Come to find out the 4th room of carpet that I wasn't paying for until I received it was actually $ 2076.20 not $1180.08. Still no 4th room carpet.

11/18 Called customer service number @ 8:12 am, spoke with Sarah at 8:20 am, explained situation. Tell her I don't want the 4th room carpet, no one has responded to my complaints, I want my money returned. Sarah transfers me to Kathy. Kathy gets on the phone and tells me the carpet is in and when did I want it installed? Seriously? Why did I just talk to Sarah? I again explain to Kathy I don't want Empire carpet in my house and I want my money refunded for the carpet I didn't receive.

After 138 minutes on the phone with Empire and being told I didn't pay for the 4th room carpet, that carpet was special order (never told it was special order and not marked special order on the forms) explaining how much was owed me, I finally was told a refund of $1041.45 would be sent out in 7-10 days. 11/19 Get an Email asking how I like my carpet from Reece **, customer support specialist. Send Reece a long email about how unhappy I am and what a terrible experience this has been. Never got a response. Although it states if I have any concerns to contact.

12/3 Melissa from customer service tells me the refund was sent back today and didn't go out because it was for the wrong amount. I asked her how much it was for and she believed it was for $1180.08. So, not only was my disappointment with my carpet ignored, the missing item from my daughter's room ignored, that fact that I paid for carpet I never got and was led to believe I wasn't paying for but now my refund doesn't get sent out and Empire doesn't notify me and I have no idea when to expect it.

We had a flooring installation scheduled for today. I waited and waited. We had never heard anything after the initial appointment was set up, so maybe it's my fault for not calling sooner. I called the company and they said there was no record of an installation being scheduled! I already had taken the day off work! Now my husband has to take a different day off work for the installation that is now supposedly scheduled for the 8th. I'm pretty angry. If we can find better pricing we may cancel before the install is supposed to occur. The initial estimation went very well, but now I'm not sure I even want to deal with this company.

I first of all want to say that in 2010 we had our entire 1875 sq. foot house outfitted with ceramic tile. This was a large purchase and was completely satisfied. I use to refer people to Empire Flooring. In September of this year, we decide to re-carpet our upstairs bonus room and stairs. This was a small job. We picked out a special order style of carpet with the understanding it would be two weeks before an install date could be made. Within that initial two weeks, I was contacted twice with an install date. The first date 9/22/15, I took vacation off of work to accommodate the install. The second time 10/8/15, I had to take a personal day. The excuse I was given both times was "well, it's a special order carpet and we will call you when it comes in." Why did you schedule the install if the carpet was not available??

We finally got a good install date of 10/12/15. The crew came out, removed the old carpet and began installing the new carpet. Problem is they didn’t bring enough carpet to finish the job. They left my stairs exposed with nails sticking up. Why would you start a job if you don’t have all the resources? The carpet that was purchased is no longer available and cannot be ordered. The sales guy had to come back out and let us pick a new style of carpet. Again, we did pick a special order carpet with an understanding of a two week window for getting it in. Unsure if we picked cheaper carpet than what we paid for originally or which is more expensive. I found out from a representative after a week of no contact that the sales guy waited four days to turn in the order. It took four weeks to get the carpet in.

On November 11th, the installers came out with the new carpet for the install. They were nice and came ready to work. Well, two days after the install, we find one of the seams on the stairs popped. Further visual inspection appeared the piece was not cut long enough and was attempted to be stretched. There are also places on the stairs where the carpet is not tight around the edges and showing frays. Empire sent out another installer to inspect the situation. He agreed that a piece of carpet would need to be ordered to fix the one issue and he would clean up the other areas once the new carpet arrived.

I spoke with the Empire representative the same day and was told a new piece would be ordered. It has now been five days without any updates. I have had to reach out to Empire 95% of the time just to either find out that I don't have an install date or what the status of the current order is. I've also spoken with a sales manager in Chicago and got nowhere. Empire has lost all control of their operations. They do not know who is working on what and does not follow up with their customers to ensure everything is in order. I will NOT be using Empire flooring in the future. They have proven multiple times they do not care about their employees or their customers. Buyers beware.

We purchased our carpet from Empire 2 years ago for our bedrooms. The salesman who came to our home was very confident when he promised we would be happy with our carpet that came with a lifetime warranty. I noticed a few months ago our carpet is looking very worn down, areas that we walk on are obviously smashed down and frazzled, parts are clumping together and it is beginning to look like it will need to be replaced. The carpet is in our home where only my husband and I live with our toddler and we take very good care of it, we don't wear shoes inside, I vacuum at least once a week with a Dyson vacuum, there are no stains or any other damage other than it looks very worn down in the places we walk.

I contacted Empire's customer service line and after a few weeks of playing phone tag with a service representative who seems to never answer her phone, I sent an email with photos of our carpet. The representative called me and told me that the way the carpet looks is "natural texture" and not included in the warranty. She did offer us a discounted rate if we wanted to pay to replace the carpet. This is very frustrating! I don't think it's fair that Empire is selling carpet promising high quality and a lifetime guarantee and not standing by its guarantee.

It's obvious that the carpet is beginning to fall apart but I don't want to pay for new carpet that we just replaced 2 years ago with a carpet that is supposed to last a lifetime. We are a new family with a toddler and our second baby on the way and it's not reasonable to change our carpet every 2 years. I asked to speak with a manager and the representative said she was a manager and there was nothing more we could do. This is very disappointing service and I'm so dissatisfied I will continue spreading the word to friends and family and social media about my experience with Empire's quality and customer service.

We ordered carpeting for a foyer and living room. The salesperson was nice and fairly prompt and not very pushy. The carpeting was for my elderly aunt (89 yrs. old) living in Brooklyn NY who is about an hour and a half away from me. The carpet was either to be glued down if possible or put down with padding if that wasn't possible. These instructions were explicitly written on the sales form. I was told that since it was a small Job we would probably be looking at an afternoon installation and to call the morning of the installation and the dispatcher could give me a smaller window than approximately 6 am to 8 pm. I called that morning and was giving the script answer that if the installer wasn't there by 10:30 to call again. I explained I was coming from over an hour away and would need some lead time.

After going back and forth a few times with the scripted answers I asked for a supervisor and I was told that he would call the installer directly and tell him to call me when he got to the job BEFORE mine, give me a time estimate and I would meet him there. This sounded great except it didn't happen. The installer calls me at about 1:00 pm and tells me he is in front of my aunt's house. He said he never was called and told to get in touch with me when he arrived at the job before mine. I told him to go to his next job and then come back to my aunt's house. He said OK and that that job should take 2-3 hours and we could meet at my aunt's after that. Although I was annoyed that someone dropped the ball and would call to find out how things weren't terrible yet. I called my elderly aunt and told her it would be a few more hours, but not to worry. She wasn't thrilled.

I called Empire and asked what happened. Why didn't the installer know to call me from the job before mine. I was told he was called and they left him a voice message that he mustn't have picked up... Are they kidding me! Next thing I know the installer calls me again asking why I just called Empire, he was a bit pissed, saying that will affect his relationship with them, etc. I tried to explain that I needed to know why they said they called him and what went awry, but he wasn't too happy. We agreed to meet between 4 and 5 pm. I call him when I was about a half hour away and he now tells me it will be many more hours, maybe another 2-3 hours. I wasn't happy at all. I get to my aunt's house and she is tired as she had just come out of the hospital 3 weeks prior after having a heart attack. 8:00 pm rolls around and I call him, he says he will be leaving the other job in 10 minutes, but suggests doing the installation the next day.

I say no and he says he will be there soon. Soon turned into 9:15. My aunt falls asleep and has to be woken up when he finally shows up. If that wasn't bad enough, after 15 minutes of looking at the job he tells me he can't do the job!! He said he can't glue it down. I told him to look at the invoice where it says to use padding if it can't be glued. He sees it and says he doesn't have padding because the warehouse didn't give him any for the job. OMG... Are they kidding me! After 45 minutes on the phone with customer service (I recorded some of these calls) nothing could be done and we reschedule after I wasted my whole afternoon and evening and still had to drive home on a Saturday night (another 1 1/2 hours). We reschedule for another Saturday and I made it abundantly clear to Empire that I wanted to be the first install around 8:30 am.

After arguing with numerous people and agreed to my being first and it should be around that time within an hour. OK Fine. I explain about the need for padding again and they assure me "no problem". I call them that morning to confirm the time, my being first and the padding. I also asked the representative to call the warehouse and the driver to confirm his having padding and she says she will. I get a call from the new installer and we meet at the house around 8:30. BUT HE DOESN'T HAVE PADDING!!!

He said the warehouse said it was a glue down job and didn't give him padding. I ask if he had gotten the call earlier before he left the warehouse about the padding and he said he had gotten it but he was already at his FIRST STOP by the time he got it!!! He said I was the second stop!!! I WAS READY TO EXPLODE!!! After nearly an hour on the phone Empire agrees to let him use the padding from another job and go to Home Depot later to get more. I was furious!!! I spoke to Empire and they were annoyed with me. Imagine that!!! So Unprofessional!!!

I ordered carpeting for two rooms, a 4' x 4' square of hardwood for an entryway and wall base board for those rooms a month before my first scheduled installation. When the day came for installation on a Monday the pad for the carpet was not available so I was rescheduled for Wednesday. On Wednesday they came out and they did not have enough carpet because based of the original drawings from the salesman the amount of carpet they came with would end up with several more seams than necessary. So again I rescheduled for that Friday. On Friday they came out and AGAIN there was not enough carpet but we went ahead with the wood installation only to find out that they would have to come back after the carpet as well since apparently the carpet people don't do baseboard installation.

So today (Saturday), they came out and actually had enough carpet this time. The base board was then supposed to be installed after but no surprise something else went wrong with the communication at this company and now I will have to wait until next week because I can't take any more days off work. 5 days is completely unreasonable for getting such a simple job done and to ask for me to be available from 8 to 6 for that many days is absurd.

Though the product that has been installed has been fine, I am incredibly disappointed with how this order is going and would definitely not recommend. The installers seem to be the only one at this company capable of doing their jobs. The scheduling and communication between the sales, hardwood installation, and carpet installation is non-existent and the fact that I have to relay information between each the different installers shows a major disconnect in this company. If I could give a 0 star review for my experience I would.

I didn't want to do that. I was charged for the old floor being removed in the original contract $989. He told me I would receive a credit for about $1000. I then received a phone call from the Empire 1800 number. Said his name was Craig. Told me same thing while the installers were standing in my kitchen. They left the product in front entry and said to call him and let him know what I decided and they would come back in morning.

After discussing it with my husband, we reluctantly agreed to just have it put over top of the old floor and expected to get a credit on the credit card we used to finance the project. There was no credit after a few days so I called the next week and asked about it. They said I would get a call early the next week. On the next Wednesday I got a message saying I would get $45 back. Doesn't sound right. I called back the next day. Was on hold for 20 minutes. Finally got to speak to Orlando. He put me on hold several times. Said he talked to salesman and he said he charged us $3 a sq ft not .25 that they were refunding. Told me Marla would call me. Said he told her it was urgent since I have already been trying to figure this out long enough. I asked for a copy of invoice mailed to me, emailed to me. He gives me confirmation number... It has been 2 weeks now, no emails, no invoice.

The salesman called me the next day. Left message saying he doesn't know how much anything cost and can't tell me anything. No one else calls me. I call back 3 days later. Talk to Mario after being on hold for 20 minutes. He tells me he has to call the market. They are not answering and he is leaving a message for them. He tells me someone from there will call me. I ask for an extension number or something so I can call myself. He says no, he is the interface. I'm wondering what the customer service is even for at this point since they always tell me someone will call back. NO ONE CALLS AGAIN!!

I wait a few more days. Call again. Get Joselyn this time. On hold for 15-20 minutes. She says Andrea will call me back. I say, "No way. I want to know what is going on." She yells at me that the installer should not have told me an amount back and says this Craig person (her words, this Craig person) shouldn't have told me that either and they are trying to talk to them and see what to do. I tell her, "It doesn't matter. I made an agreement with someone in the company on cost and why am I being charged for a job that wasn't done?" She gives me an extension for Andrea. I give her an hour to call me. She doesn't so I try extension.

I just get a foreign language speaking back to me, obviously extensions are not meant to be used with 800 number. I wait for customer service and they put me through to extension. Of course I get voice mail, and her mail box is full. It's been almost another week, I am still waiting for her to call me... I have called the credit card company that I am using to finance this and they said they would try to resolve it on my behalf. As far as the product, I'm not sure how I feel about the lvp. It seems cheap to me. They left my baseboards a mess, left pencil marks all over everything and did not fill in between the wall and the waterlines to the toilets. There is just a hole there all the way to the wall!! I would like to have someone come out to fix that but am a little nervous to try to bother with it!

The customer service I have received has been horrendous!! I don't know how these people can work there. They should be embarrassed!! I definitely regret using this company! I have learned my lesson I guess. I will read a thousand reviews before ever making a large purchase like this again! My floor was put in on the 30th of October and it is now November 26th and I still haven't even gotten the $45 credit that Joe said I would get. Oh, and the card was charged an extra $200 over what the contract says it would be charged!! I wonder why. I guess I have to call on Friday and see if they can have someone call me back about that one.

Our Salesman, Dominick, couldn't have been sweeter. He assured my husband that the installers were "very professional". However, after we signed to have carpet installed in our living room and hallway, the drama began! Two installers showed up in an unmarked vehicle, no I.D., no paperwork. They began by taking my new leather couches & throwing one on top of the other (damaging the leg of one). Then they tied my drapes in knots to get them off the floor! They were using the old tacks from the old carpet when we were promised new. They took the padding and laid it out on the street in front of my house to cut it!

Do you want a huge pad that has been laid out all over the street then brought in your house? When my husband voiced concern, they, without a word picked up their tools & left... no conversation, no explanation. I, then, "tried" to call customer service and was give a run around for more than an hour! No one seemed really concerned. Today, a new crew is coming back to, hopefully, "fix things". We'll see. In addition one of them used my bathroom, w/o permission, peed on the floor & did not flush! I would never use this company ever!

We had Empire install carpet in two rooms and up the stairs. When we had a warranty issue, we called the company. After 20 minutes on hold, they answered and gave us a date when they would come. Not a time window, just a date. On that date, they called and said we'll come at X time, which conflicted with an unexpected doctor appointment. So we cancelled.

Next day, another call, another 20 minutes on hold. Same story - they can give us a date, not a time, not even a time window. Just "we'll call." My wife said that doesn't work for us - can't you at least give us a window. Finally, after consulting a supervisor, we got a time: 8:30 in the morning. At 11:30 we called again and got a boatload of excuses on why they weren't there. Oh, but now that you've waited all morning, they can tell you they will come for sure between 1 and 4. So even when they reluctantly give you a window, they don't meet it. Poor customer service. They just don't get customer service.

Everything with Empire Today went well. They were polite and were well-mannered. However, I want to get the color that I asked for. I got musk when I had put down mink on my piece of paper. I was so sure it was mink. They sent an email or a fax to my son's house, and I wrote it down plus the amount. I don't know how I would write mink compared to musk. I don't even like the name musk and I feel it's mud. I hope I could see the sample board that they brought. It's still beautiful carpeting though. I would recommend it to friend. We had tile installed a month ago. The installers left behind a mess in the showers and on the walls of the three rooms they were doing. The next day we saw that the tile was cracked in two of the rooms and we contacted the warranty department and it has taken us till today the 23rd to get the tile fixed. We have spent weeks sending pictures and making phone calls and getting the run around only to have them make an appointment then change the date and then they show up today and try to say that they only have the order to fix the bathroom.

I said no way, it has always been both places and they are suppose to fix our transition that was cut incorrectly and they are saying they were not told to fix that and they don't have the part. They don't do the transitions, that is someone. The saleslady and the carpet installers were great but I have nothing good to say about the tile installers. I will not recommend Empire Today for tile. We are very disappointed in the service we have received for our tile installation.

I had to call back 4 hours later to find out no cancellations. Asked what kind of compensation I would get and they told me to ask the installer when they got there.

Talked to the guy who sold me the carpet on Monday, said he would get back to me. Have yet to hear back from him. Carpet was installed Saturday, 2 gentlemen did a great job. No compensation on what I owed when I paid the bill. The salesman wanted us to install the carpet the next day, said warehouse had all carpets. How can they overbook for a job scheduled 3 weeks in advance? No one returns phones calls and no one knows what each department is doing.

I am beyond upset I had purchased carpet and tile for my house. I scheduled installation for Thursday and Friday. Thursday no one called to tell me that the installation date had been changed, so I had to wait until Friday. Friday arrived and the installers were awesome. Only problem was there was no carpet for one of the bedrooms, so when I called the lady representative I originally spoke to was so rude, told me complaining didn't help, I just need to find a new date so I refuse to talk to her. She got the salesman that sold me the carpet on the phone who apologized for her behavior. He attempted to make things calmer and said the installers would take care of us Friday but we had to reschedule for the other room to be completed. I complained that someone should have told me so that me or hubby could figure out work schedules, so he explained that carpet would be in on Saturday and they would wrap everything up on Sunday.

Now Sunday created a work schedule issue for me and hubby but we dealt with the decision and made preparation to be available on Sunday. Oh and I was told we would be priority and if I had any other problems to call him. Sunday comes undamaged and after several hours of waiting I contacted customer service to see what was the hold up and if we could get a time frame since this is what I was informed through the confirmation email that was sent out on October 19 and 20th. The representative attempted to call installer but was unable to reach him, so I had to just wait. I attempted to call the salesman like he said but he never called me back. After waiting several more hours, it was getting closer to me needing to be at work so I called again, representatives attempted to call installer again, no response. This time representative said installer had until 6pm to come, so I called for my husband to relieve me.

At 5:48pm, I called Empire back to asked if installer was still coming, she again attempted to call with no response. At this point there was nothing left I could do. Just beyond frustrated because I am not able to take off anymore and my husband's job is very rigid so he will have to take off and receive a discipline report. Oh and I have family arriving tonight for Holiday and the room they were suppose to sleep in is completely empty and bed broken down, furniture everywhere in my recreation room. I just wanna cry. At this moment I am just over it. If I could cancel I would but it is impossible at this moment. Thanks Empire... Happy Holiday.

My wife called Empire for replacement carpet in our family room, stairs, and upstairs landing/hallway area. At least the salesman arrived on time for his appointment. After she agreed to a $3300.00 with a change order to bring the price to $1900.00, odd but that is how they do discounting? Appointment for installation was set before the salesman left with her $200.00 deposit, for the following Tuesday before noon... Well that did not happen.

Installer called and said was the last job of the day and would be there between 3-4 pm. At 4:45 pm I called the installer on his cell phone. He said they had a tough install and would call after 5 pm. I then called the installation department, and they told me that there was no way that my install will take place as it was too late to start another one. Hence the installer lied to me, as he knew he would not be coming to do the install. Called the install department back, they arranged to do the install the following Friday, and agreed to be the first install of the day.

On Thursday, I get a call from the install department saying that they don't have enough installers for Friday, and could they reschedule for 1st thing Saturday morning. I agreed to this to get it done, but when I had no call no show on Saturday, I again called the install department to inquire as to when or if an install would happen. When I asked what percentage chance there was of an install happening today (Saturday) the install manager said zero percent. I am so done with this company. I gave one star since there is no way to give less! Do yourself a favor and never fall for this company's BS.

I got carpet and some flooring in our bathrooms. Minor issues when they were installing the flooring but all was made right and the installers even helped out by fixing a part of the floor near the bathtub that rotted. All in all the installation went well. Not even 1 year later as I was vacuuming and I realized the carpet was separating in a section. Just a straight line ripped like a seam. Not only there but upstairs it's in a spot, it was doing the same thing. We called Empire and after a wait they sent an inspector out. Then after another wait finally they agree to come out and replace all of the carpet. I thought wow, what great service.

Then we get to now. Not even a year later and the carpet is doing the same thing again near the same area it did the first time. Wow this sucks, but let's call Empire. After an even longer wait the inspector came out. Then after another wait we get the call that the inspector found dog urine at the location of the tear and that the urine caused it to rip. So to get this right they are trying to tell me that the carpet is tearing the exact same way it did the first time they had to come out and replace it, but this time they found dog urine at the area so that must be the cause of the carpet ripping.

Needless to say I am very disappointed. I have a lot of tile downstairs that I was planning to get replaced with wood flooring and after the great service the first time around I was planning on using no one else besides Empire. But instead I am going to have to go thru arbitration to get them to fix their defaulting carpet they sold me. Would not recommend if you have animals to go through Empire. Their carpet cannot stand up to urine.

I signed a contract to have a laminate flooring installed by Empire Today. The worst experience I ever had with a company. The installation was scheduled on October 16, 2015. On that date, the installers were unable to conclude the job because some of the laminate boxes were damaged. As agreed, they would conclude the installation on October 17, 2015.

However, the timing did not work and was re-scheduled for October 18, 2015. On said date, another installer showed up at my house to conclude the job. At the time he concluded the installation, I noticed that the laminate he installed was too short and the baseboard would fall in between the wall and the laminate. The installer acknowledged the issue and replaced the pieces he cut too short. As I reviewed the rest of the house, there were other pieces too short. I addressed the issue with him. However, he responded that he was sent just to complete the installation and that he did not install the other areas. He called his "boss," but the call went to his voicemail. I made a notation of the issue on the Certificate of Completion.

In an attempt to have the issue resolved, I made numerous calls to (800) 588-2300, spoke to different people, who placed me on hold for long periods of time while they tried to contact someone from the installation department, but they never reached someone and nothing was resolved. I received a reference number, which did not help at all. After many phone calls, Mr. **, Installer Coordinator, contacted me and indicated that he would take care of the issue... Still waiting...

Once again, I continued making numerous calls to (800) 588-2300. On November 4, 2015, I was told that Ms. **, Resolution Specialist, was going to contact me, but she did not, instead Mr. ** called me. Ever since, I have e-mailed him pictures, sent him e-mails, and made phone calls. Finally, we scheduled an appointment for the installers to make the needed repairs on November 17, 2015. According to Mr. **, the installers would call me prior to arrival on said date. I am still waiting... I will NEVER use this company again and for sure I would NEVER recommend it. For the contrary I WILL spread the word of how unprofessional they are.

I had heard good things about Empire. My daughter down in Texas had used them and the salesman was really nice and the carpet looked like it would be suitable. So I had them install a new carpet for me. The installers were really nice about everything. They've done their job. The new flooring met my expectations to a certain extent. I'm just a little bit dissatisfied. I'm handicapped and wheels of my walker make marks and I’m not happy with the way it looks. I called the salesman and he said it'll come back up when I vacuum, and it does.

I had to put things on all the chairs on the dining area. However, it's taken care of now. After they put the new flooring, it was level.

I had an install appointment, but no one ever showed up. The sales person I dealt with (Mike) had been a great person to work with. Apparently, there was a miscommunication between the Indianapolis office and Chicago office (At least that was what I was told). I took the day off from work and waited, but no call no show. I spoke to a person who identified himself as a district manager (David) who was least professional. He was shocked by the amount of $$ I was giving up while waiting on them. He even took the time to let me know that I make too much money. I think he expected I should jump on the 1st offer he gave me and should have been grateful. The least to say, I will take my business else where. One suggestion to Empire, maybe you should train your managers to interact better with clients. Mike had worked very hard to secure this sale and the district manager (David) lost the business because of his poor attitude.

I saw Empire's advertisement for "50% Off Carpet & Flooring, 50% Off Padding & Materials and 50% Off Installation". I made an appointment online and was called to confirm. The salesman "Ben" showed up on-time and was as nice as he could be. We shared stories and he gave me the normal sales pitch and then took measurements of the living room, hall and the guest bedroom.

About that time my wife had returned home and we sat down and looked at three different carpet brands/qualities samples. He also brought in a sample of the padding. I insisted that I wanted the best padding and he said he had a higher quality but never showed it to me nor mentioned the additional cost. To me padding is of the upmost importance considering my home is over 100 years old and the old wood floors get very cold in the winter. The thicker the padding the more insulation. {I even considered keeping my original padding since it was purchased in 2009 and adding another layer}.

After my wife choose the carpet she liked we started discussing the price. He initially quoted {Wrote down the number on a blank sheet of paper} "$4750". I asked how many square feet and after he said about 7-8 hundred square feet. I nailed him down to 726 square feet. I took out my calculator and that came out to $6.54 a sq/ft which we both "Choked" on. He immediately came back with $3750 which is $5.16 sq/ft. That is when I asked the actual price per square foot for the carpet and for the padding each.

He hymn-hawed about this and that and said he might get us a better deal if we would commit to buying tonight and that he would call his supervisor to see about a better deal. We were not ready to commit and I sure as hell was not going to sign anything till it was itemized and could see in writing the actual "50% Off Carpet & Flooring, 50% Off Padding & Materials and 50% Off Installation". During the entire conversation my wife & I both said numerous times that we intended on getting quotes from other companies for our new carpet. I even took pictures of the carpet and the descriptions of the samples so we could compare "Apples To Apples".

After an hour of our evening discussing that we must have something in writing and that we did intend on getting other quotes, Ben was continuously adamant about getting a commitment and calling his supervisor for better pricing. We {my wife & I} came to the conclusion that the sale was not going to happen until we had other quotes and one in writing from Empire. Again, Ben was a real gentleman and was a joy to meet and is welcome back in our home anytime to have a glass of sweet tea and share stories.

This morning I received a call from Empire about additional savings. I discussed having quote in writing and was told that they never give quotes in writing. My concern is if a company is offering a sale such as "50% Off Carpet & Flooring, 50% Off Padding & Materials and 50% Off Installation", as a consumer, I would expect to actually see the initial price and the sale price on the item being offered. I HONESTLY BELIEVE THE ADVERTISING IS NOT ONLY FALSE BUT COULD BE CONSIDERED FRAUD if the salesperson cannot physically show it to the consumer.

It is so sad that a salesperson is put in the position that his integrity can be questioned because he does not have a means of backing up his pricing with physical documentation. I am sure that Ben is a man of high integrity but due to his inability to prove his pricing due to corporate policy, he was unable to actually close on this sale.

Around 11 am on my install date I had not heard from the installer with a time window, even though they said they would call the morning of the install. I had to call my salesman to get someone to call with a time window.

They finally called around 1 pm to let me know they would arrive at 2 pm. They showed up at 230. They said the install would take 4 hours. Originally 2 workers arrived but then the second one left shortly after arriving. They did not finish the installation until 10:40 PM!!! It took more than twice as long. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! I called the 800 number on the "We strive for PERFECT 10 performances and your complete satisfaction" paper they left for me. I was transferred over to Hank. I have left 2 messages asking him to call me back and have heard nothing. They don't strive for perfect 10 performances... They don't even make an effort. Again the install was canceled on the day cause they were overbooked. Then you try to speak to anyone about it and all they can do is say sorry. Good thing I'm retired military and I don't work but if I did that's missing time for work. Then you move everything and find out it was a waste. At this point I would recommend on the product but far as customer service I would not recommend.

The salesman were truly professional. They were here on Thursday and they drove up in a beat-up truck and thought, "No, that's not them." Two kids got out, dragged out the flooring, put it on the ground, rolled it out and said, "Does that look like your floor?" I said, "Yeah." They brought it in and I thought, "Oh, what did I get myself into?" from the time I saw the beat-up truck.

Once they started working right to finish, nothing but professional. I absolutely love my floor and it's exactly what I thought it was going to be. They did such a professional job that I noticed how it was different from the way it was done before. That goes with the molding that goes right around the corner instead of stopping and starting again at the seam. They did a fabulous job and they were very polite young men. I even told them I had a problem with a piece of wood outside. They said they had an extra piece of wood for me and gave it to me. He went right ahead and sawed off a little piece of board and gave it to me instead of throwing it out or taking it with them.

When I got to the beauty salon where I work, everybody is concerned about my floor. I said, "I could cry, it's so beautiful. They showed up with a beat-up truck." The lady sitting in the chair getting her hair done yelled out, "Empire!". Turns out they did her floor, too and she goes, "I love it." She was as amazed as I was. It was humorous and unbelievable.

I always tell everybody I love my floor. I show my floor off with my pictures on my phone and I'm telling people all over, "You want a floor done? This is how you want it done." They see it and they say, "Oh, my God! That is beautiful." I know what it's like to get bad contractors. It's really a gamble when you call somebody and you've never had them and I never had any family members that had Empire either. I was, "Oh, God, I hope this is right." and they were.

I had a living room carpet and the acacia hardwood engineered floor installed by Empire Today. I love our new floor. We had the carpets pulled out to have the wood flooring put down in three different rooms. One of the things I noticed is I haven't had to dust any glass tables or anything since I've had the floor down. I'm very happy with them.

The guys that came in did a fantastic job. However they had to dig up the linoleum that was in the kitchen, which caused it to look like they had cut sheet rock in my house. And I had to spend two days cleaning every picture frame, every counter. I even had to wash all the dishes in my pantry because they took the door off there because they had to get in there to work under the floor. I think they should have come in and covered up with tarps so I cleared most of the stuff out.

Another thing is that we do pay for having the furniture moved. And they told me that they would bring our furniture back in. I moved a lot of the stuff myself that they could have moved because it was bigger stuff. But I did it and they were ready to go out the door at 8:30 at night and I had to say "hey, could you guys maybe bring the recliner and stuff in because I don't want to drag that across the floor". I pay for that and they're not doing it. Of course, I know they were tired and they had worked until 8:30.

And then at this other time, when the serviceman was putting the floor down, we were going to have the big formal living room carpeted the next day. When he put the molding up from the dining room he said "I just want you to know that this molding stops right here and then you've got your old molding in the living room" which doesn't really match up, so it's kind of odd. And I said, "can we buy more molding to match that?" He said, "I don't know." And so I called my husband and I told the guy, "I've got my paperwork and we did pay for all these others to be done in the big living room." He hadn't a clue. He did not read his instructions or it was not clear to him.

When I talked to our salesman about what a horrible mess I had in my kitchen after they were done, I said that it was really unacceptable. Nobody wants to have beautiful floors and have to wash everything in the walls and the counters. It was horrible. And so he said "well they're supposed to bring in tarps and cover stuff up", but they did not. I know they get guys that don't understand a lot of English. I had a hard time communicating with some of the guys. I had to ask him three or four times "could you repeat that again" because I can't make clear what they're saying. But as far as the job that they did for me, I'm happy with it. I think it's beautiful and hopefully my husband thinks it is, too.

It's so hard to keep this short, but I'll try to stick to the key points and am more than happy to provide additional detail if asked. We got the wrong tile. We ordered 24x24 and we got 12x12. That was Friday. We aren't getting the right one supposedly until Monday. Salesperson Joe said that all products are always in stock, but that's really not the case here. Joe gave his number and said we could call him if we have any issues, but has yet to call us back. But, he was eager to answer his gf every time she called at our home. The phone center doesn't see the size of our tiles in the system to confirm what is in our contract. How can that be possible???

The installer says their paperwork shows 12x12 tiles when our contract shows 24x24. How is that possible?? They also told us that the tile doesn't come in the 24x24 size. But the sample we took a picture of clearly says available in 24x24. Finally, when they saw the wrong size of tile, the installer tried to tell us that the one we ordered was too big, and they probably wouldn't get it level. But that's what Joe sold us on!!! He told us that most places don't do it right, but Empire does the larger tiles and they are flat with no uneven surface. Who do I believe??? I'm concerned my floor will not look good or be installed correctly. Our POC Edgar says the order on his side shows a mix of 24 and 12 inch tile. How is that??? Initially, we were told at contract signing that we got $7k in financing, but when I called, they said we only had $3500.

The installers said they would need 3 days to install, but after the tile mix up they say they are now going to do it in one or two days. Does that mean they will do a crappy job just to get it done and leave? If it takes three days, then it takes three days. They said they would finish removing the floors Saturday but they didn't. Why couldn't they do that so that Monday they are ready to lay tile? This is not about the installer's convenience. It's about MINE! I have a tight work schedule, and must be back to the office Wednesday. I allowed for 5 days to complete the job. But now I sit here with my furniture all over the place and no progress is being made. And the only thing I got other than an apology was a 1.8% discount off of the hardwood floor. That's an insult.

So, as a result of your mistakes, and might I add that there were multiples, I have no choice but to cancel the hardwood flooring for my master bedroom. So my guests will see old ugly carpet for the holidays!!! But, I don't have confidence that you'll get it right, nor do I have another day for you to waste my time. The sale was great for you guys, but the customer experience has been subpar at best.

I took a day off of work a double day at that to wait for installers who showed up on time but with a totally different product than what the salesperson sold me. The product was the correct color but the quality was very poor compared to the samples I picked out. I told the installers to leave and take the garbage they brought with them back. So no carpet was installed and I wouldn't ever use this company again.

I had Empire Today do installations in my living room, hall, and bedrooms, one of which now has wooden floors, after seeing their advertisement that they were giving 50% off at that time. The man I spoke with in the beginning and gave me the prices couldn’t have been any nicer. He offered to help me in any way and told me that if needed, I can call and ask for him. The installers that came were absolutely excellent and they did not leave anything. You wouldn’t even know that people were working in my house.

My daughter referred to us Empire Today as she had used them before and was supposed get a $100 gift card. But I'm a little disappointed with them. First of all they quoted an estimate and I wasn't pleased with it so I told them I was going to wait. A week or so later one of the representative called to ask why and was everything okay. They negotiated a better price for someone to come back out and do an estimate. I agreed and we had decided on the price. He got it approved right past the kitchen and they only gave the last four digits of the account number.

My husband and I selected the flooring and we set the date for them to come out. It was a conflict with another time so they changed it to the following Saturday. Then they called and said that they couldn't lay the flooring until we got the whole account number and to let them know soon when I get something in the mail from the finance company. I was waiting and didn't get anything. The following week they called and said that they're sending someone out to lay the flooring. I was very happy and was like, "Look, I guess they got the information they needed."

They laid the flooring in October and that was bad so I hadn't made a payment as I don't know who to pay. I listened on my voicemail a couple of times as someone had called Empire directing to take me to collections and then I needed to give them the full account number which I didn't know myself. So I called them today and they said, "What, you don't owe us anything. You are approved." They told me who I was approved through for Tiva, for the amount of 6,000. "So you owe them, they financed you so you're good with us." But nobody has called and complained about anything. So I said, "Okay." and she gave me their number.

So I called and told Tiva about it. They said, "No, you don't owe us anything." We don't have any documentation saying that you had purchased anything." They said, "They had not found a bill. What were you set up for?" I said, "Twelve months before interest and I pay $150 already." And I was supposed to have $1150 balance. So she went back and forth she said, "Well, from my perspective you don't owe us and we haven't billed you. Your interest can't start and we have to be. And then we set things up, you'll receive the quote. Right now legally you don't owe us anything because they hadn't fix this thing." She gave the account number to me and said "call Empire back and give them that whole number," and I did.

Apparently somebody dropped the balls on Empire where they set to pay for it. Now they have the correct account number, they can only see the last four digits before and don't have access of it, I do. So I gave her that information and she had set everything. She said that in 24 hours they should have it. I wanted to pay it off, thinking it was $1150. She said "no, it was $1350" so that was the fees. Then I asked her about the $100 referral fee gift card for my daughter. She looked that up and saw her name but she wouldn't be able to get that as it showed that she got the floor and we only got an estimate, thus never received the floor. I told her that we received it but she said that would call back about it.

Then I went on to say, "Well, looks like you all should give me something for inconvenience to courtesy." From being called and harassed saying that we'd go to the bill collectors and all. She said that there were no records that they called and told that it was from the finance company. Then the finance company said no because they didn't even had that as their system showed we were only approved for 6,000 and hadn't seen a file bill from Empire. So it was just back and forth and here I am, wanted to pay it all and I don't have an invoice.

I was a little worried that nobody sent anything saying that I neglected anything. I had to do the research and find out what's going on to pay my own bill. I'm also dissatisfied right now because of the price discrepancy. My daughter still hasn't gotten her gift card and looks like somebody didn't do the paperwork right on time. But overall, I'm satisfied with them as the floor is beautiful. The guy that came did a wonderful, clean job by himself although my husband didn't go to mass on Sunday because he needs to be there to let him do it. His staff didn't show up so he had to come for two days.

I just got off the phone with your customer service reps for the 3rd day in a row. This time they hung up on me. That was an even more unpleasant change. Installation on my new condo was supposed to begin last week. But oh there "Might" be a problem with having old asbestos tiles under the carpet. Do you know what the installers for your company did? They left with the promise that I would get a phone call that day to let me know what to do. But alas that phone call never happened. So, I had the tack strips they were unsure about removing done. The carpet is gone and so is the padding, tack strips, and baseboards. Do you think maybe the floors I have already been charged for could possibly be installed? Guess not.

The installation manager has apparently refused to call me back since last Thursday. Yesterday the information was given to the regional manager. And guess what? Even with your promises of amazing customer service he has decided not to call me back as well. I called today to get some resolution to this problem and was hung up on when I explained that simply leaving more messages for people to call me back was unacceptable. Your company is now not only holding my floors hostage but my life as well. A person cannot move into a condo if there are no floors. So Empire Today, how can you have a great rating with the BBB if this is the treatment your customers receive?

We placed an order with a sales rep when he came out to our house for a consult. That evening I read reviews online about Empire that were not favorable concerning their services and subcontractors not showing up, showing up with the wrong product, not being able to get anyone to return your calls when you had an issue, etc. I called Empire the next day and cancelled my order and told them of my concerns. The next week, Claudia from Empire called to see what my concerns were and why the order had been cancelled. I told her what I had read and she reassured me everything would go as scheduled and we negotiated on price and we decided to go ahead with our order.

Our installation date was scheduled for 4 weeks later on a Monday. The Thursday before installation was scheduled, I called and confirmed the date the installation was to begin. Empire called me the next day (Friday) and confirmed the installation date a second time. At 5 pm that same day, Joel from installation called and said the job would NOT be done on Monday or Tuesday. They could do it Wednesday. I told them this was unacceptable because we were going out of town Wednesday afternoon for several days and we had been told it would take 2 days to do the job. After countless calls the price was dropped $350 and we were assured the job would only take 1 day and they would definitely do it on Wednesday (2 days late). We had already torn out our floor ourselves, moved the appliances out, pulled nails, staples and swept everything up ourselves.

The subcontractors showed up this morning and were impressed they could begin their work right away. And we paid upfront as instructed. They brought in the flooring and had a laminate flooring instead of the expensive hardwood Brazilian Cherry floor panels we ordered. Of course the floor we ordered wasn't available for them to go back and get to put down. We cancelled our order with Empire. We will do our own floor this weekend. I would not ever recommend Empire to anyone I am friends with.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with hands down! On September 10, 2015 I had a salesman Jerry ** from the Mebane, NC office in my home for a quote. Mr. ** was very friendly on that day and said he has been doing this so long he doesn't even have to measure a home anymore. He walked upstairs, eyeballed the rooms that we wanted carpeted and needed hardwood for and then we returned downstairs to begin the discussion and quote process. After looking at samples of wood and carpet my wife, was newly pregnant at the time, decided on the product we wanted and we then began price negotiations.

After going back and forth with Mr. ** we settled on a price $3,450 for having two rooms and a stairway carpeted and a landing area at the top of the stairs covered in engineered hardwood flooring. We picked an initial install date in October and paid the deposit and Mr. ** was on his way. A week or two later a business trip caused a conflict with the initial install date and I called Empire Direct at their customer service number 800-538-2300 to talk about rescheduling. I told the guy the conflict and asked him for a new date. He said he was reviewing the local installers schedule and he then offered me November 10 as our install date. He said that we could not push the date any further than the 10th of November due to their 60-day policy and I confirmed that I will be sure no conflicts arise for that day.

On November 5th I got an email from Empire asking for me to call and confirm my install date of November 9th. (Remember we agreed on the 10th on the phone.) I thought about it and moved my schedule around to accommodate the install on the new date and then called and confirmed the install for the 9th. I have pets and they occasionally have accidents on the carpet so I elected to remove the carpet from my upstairs on November 8th and coat the floor with an odor blocking primer.

The contractor who helped me with the coating asked if Empire would be installing a vapor barrier beneath the wood and I told him I did not know. I decided to call Empire and ask as he was going to install a tar paper vapor barrier if not. I was informed by the lady in customer service that my order had been cancelled due to the install date exceeding 60 days from the date of the contract being written. I explained to her that I had received a confirmation email and followed that up with a confirmation phone call only 3 days ago on November 5th. She apologized and offered me $150 total off of my order and said she would not be able to schedule the install until the 10th.

Considering that my upstairs was now uninhabitable and my pregnant wife and I had accepted the fact that we would only be spending 1 night on the couch bed in the living room I asked for a supervisor. Her supervisor came on the phone and was very apologetic. He offered an additional $50 discount for a total of $200 off on the total job and said he was able to contact the local office and ensure the install could go ahead on November 9th as scheduled and confirmed by both email and phone call. I thanked him and went to bed.

The morning of November 9th I received a call from the head installer, Lewis (not sure about spelling) and Lewis told me that unfortunately when my order was cancelled on the 5th (the same day I confirmed it?) my product was removed from their truck and not delivered to the local warehouse. This meant that the install would have to be pushed until the 10th to allow the product to be sent from Atlanta to Raleigh. I again was very upset and was offered an additional $200 for my inconvenience.

On the morning of the 10th I received a call at 8:00 from the local installers and they arrived promptly around 8:30. The installers verified the product with my wife and she then took them upstairs to show them the area that was to be carpeted. They then took a detailed measurement, something my salesman never did, and learned that they were short both carpet and wood. Also some of the items needed to complete the install were never ordered by Jerry. My wife called Jerry and he was very rude to her and refused to talk to her after he spoke with the installer. I called Jerry and left him a voicemail which he never returned.

I am now looking at the third night in a row of sleeping on a couch bed that is making my wife's back hurt terribly. I called customer service and they said that there is nothing more that they can do to compensate me for this horrible experience. At this point I really just want to cancel this order and never deal with Empire again, however, I am stuck as I need to get my wife back in a normal bed and allegedly they are coming back to fix this tomorrow. Only time will tell...

First, I was told by the sales guy that the carpet installation would only take one day and they would have it done in just a few hours (two bedrooms and stairs for a town home). The installation took over 6 hours (guest room and stairs) and there was a shortage in carpet (master bedroom left incomplete). I called and talked to customer service and they were no help - basically said that someone would have to be home again the next day to complete the installation. I explained that I was on a timeline to get this complete in order to put my home on the market to sell and was guaranteed completion in one day.

The customer service representative was rude. Then I asked to speak to someone else and she took down my number for her manager to call me, and the individual never did. I asked about a discount since there was a shortage brought to my home and now I would have to take two days off from work, and was told I could be credited $50. With an order for almost $2500, I was expecting better service than that. PLEASE, PLEASE do not use them. Call Lowe's or Home Depot - Worst customer service and installation process.

I had carpeting done in a bedroom by Empire. It's excellent and the installers were great. I've been very pleased with the way the two guys put the stuff down. They were really nice and everything went really well. The only complaint that I had was that I measured the area but when their guy came out to measure it, he put down almost twice the amount of square footage that I had. I questioned him and he said, "Well, that's the way things are." And I said, "Oh?" And he says, "Yeah, because that's the way the carpet's got to be laid down." I said, "Twice the amount of carpeting?" And he says, "Well, that's the way things are." So when the kids got finished laying the carpet, I had a tremendous amount of leftover stuff. If it were run a different way, there wouldn't be that much waste. But these are big pieces, so they're not really waste. The guy, however, made a lot more money in the job by doing what he did.

So the next time I have anybody come out to measure, I will be on top of them because money is hard to come by. My son also got the exact same carpeting and there was very little waste in his rooms. He got the exact same thing about two weeks before mine was put in. We're both very pleased with it. He had gotten carpeting from that company before as well. I've got one more room, and eventually down the road I'll probably have Empire come in and do it. I'm trying to get the place up to par. It gets up in my ears when they have a sale and I kind of get everything right.

Two years ago my boyfriend had the carpet replaced in the hall and in our bedroom. Two weeks after the carpet was installed, we had to have them come back in and fix the carpet in the hallway. It was already starting to fray. About a year after they installed the carpet, my boyfriend and I noticed a couple places in our bedroom where the carpet was starting to rise. About 6 months ago he placed a call with Empire to come back and they said they were going to charge us $90 and we had to move our own furniture. My boyfriend tried to get this waived, as obviously they didn't pull it tight enough in the first place.

After months of arguing, we finally had them come to fix it last night. The price went from $90.00 to $100.00 and the 4 men who came to the house to fix it admitted that it was the quality of the work when it was first installed that caused the carpet to ripple. So, not only did we pay them to do a bad job, we had to pay additionally for them to fix the job they didn't do properly in the first place. Very disappointed. And it's too bad because there is another carpet in our house that needs to be replaced, but we will NEVER use Empire again, after this terrible service!!!

I chose Empire Today to install a carpet because of their price. The carpet installers did a wonderful job and were polite. However I didn't like the fact that I couldn't communicate very well with them. It really bothered me. They need to learn English a little bit better or try to speak a little clearer. But other than that everything was great.

We will be adding to a negative experience with Empire Today. When we decided to change our carpet for hardwood floors my husband contacted Empire to get a general estimate on how much it will cost us. At this point we were not set on this specific company but only trying to see where we are. Salesman Michael ** visited our home and showed to my husband few samples. When I got home I specifically stated I am set on OAK floors and wide planks. That was my choice. Mike eagerly ran to his car and brought several other samples that he stated were oak. One of the samples had 5 inch wide planks which I didn't like, the other new items that just came out was a mixed set of planks with 7 inch, 5 inch and 3 inch that provided more contemporary look. I liked that sample but noticed the name was - Forest Lodge elm. I pointed it out to Mike asking what wood is it since it says Elm. He reassured me multiple times that this is OAK.

We opted to think about it and he left to only start to bombard my husband with calls. Price was reasonable for OAK and our square footage. We decided to go ahead and start the job. The crew came on time. We knew it has to take 2 days to complete the job. Our whole family including two small children resorted to upstairs due to the dust. Next morning while waiting for the crew to come back to finish the job, I noticed boxes from the wood in the corner that specifically stated - SPECIES: ELM. So it wasn't just the name of the sample, it was ELM, not an oak. I contacted Mike to get answers on what is going on and why he sold to us something that is NOT OAK. He texted to me "I never told you it's an oak floor." After lengthy arguments and him being extremely rude he just said "I didn't have something that you wanted." I asked him "so that is why you lied to us? You came to our house, looked straight into my eyes and lied to me?!!"

Then he started threatening me. If you don't have what we want just say so and leave our house, pretty simple! There are plenty of companies who have and can install what we were looking for. I didn't get the floors I wanted and wasted money and hopes. For the money WE PAID we should not be threatened, yelled at, lied to! Hundreds of complaints regarding this company are TRUE. Please look somewhere else and don't repeat our mistake or many others that posted here. If you still decide to go ahead with them - don't allow salesman Michael ** into your house. This is not the person you want to make a deal with and you will be hurt at the end. I will be reporting him to their corporate office. The only positive here - the crew was great and I wish we would hire them independently to install normal OAK floors from another retailer.

Some time ago I purchased 2 rug runners from Empire. The saleswoman was nice enough and the pricing was pretty decent, so I decided to give it a shot. What happened after was just ridiculous. The carpet took over a month to come in (I was quoted 2 weeks), the installation guys failed to appear on the scheduled date - TWICE, then the rug was cut wrong so they had to re-order it and we had to wait another few weeks before they came back. Each time I called, I was told mismatching information. They kept screwing up my address so at every appointment (the cut, first install attempt, re-cut, second install attempt) the guys would go to the wrong address and would be late. They finally got the carpet installed about 3 months later. The product itself is fine, though it gets dirty easily. I SWORE to myself that I would never ever use this company again... until I spilled paint on one of the rug runners and it needed to be replaced.

Luckily, a saleswoman called me about a special promotion, saying I would get $150 my order. I asked her if there was a minimum and she said no - I asked her again, and she assured me there was no minimum. I scheduled an appointment for the next day. The saleswoman just left without my having placed an order - and you'll never guess why... YEP, there was a freaking minimum. So I stayed home to give this stupid company another shot and they screwed it up... for what must have been the 7th or 8th time. No joke, it is literally the very worst sales/customer service experience I have ever had in my life.

I said I didn't want to be pressured with them. But since I had furniture coming from another state in a few days, I was rushed so I went with Empire. It turned out to be a very good experience. The guys who installed the flooring did an excellent job. They worked really hard. They had a long day and a long drive. It was two hours to me and another two back. The only thing is I wanted gray plywood, but I didn't ask the man for it. He only showed me two samples on a short board and one book of samples that were more expensive. It was my fault, though. I wanted light gray but I ended up with warm oak because the cabinets were oak.

August 2015, Ordered tile floors for three rooms. When the job was done the floors looked dirty and hazy. Had inspector come out. Empire came out to try to fix the problem. The grout color (Mocha) on my floors does not look like the color that I was shown on the sample nor what was advertised on Empire's website. The tiles are dark brown and the grout looks gray. Trying to make a very long story short, Empire has set up appointments, canceled them. Also set up an appointment on my birthday, had to forego plans, and they did not show up or call. I called three times thereafter before finally getting a return called. I request $1,000.00 in compensation. I'm still awaiting a decision regarding that.

They set up an appointment for October 28, 2015 but canceled that on October 26. Now, we are awaiting new grout color (Santa Fe) that I picked out to be delivered as this is a special order grout. October 29, Mr. Tim **, Regional Manager telephoned. Said that he called to tell me about the grout being on order. He then mentions that $1,000.00 in compensation would be hard pressed to happen, or something along those lines. I tried explaining to him the reasons why I'm requesting $1,000.00 off of my bill as compensation. I have had to take my house apart about five times in anticipation of them coming to correct this issue. I have had to write numerous letters, extensive phone time trying to straighten this out. Have had appointments canceled numerous times, dealt with people that had no idea what was going on, been stood up for appointments, etc.

Now, if and when they correct this error, my home will be a dusty mess. Have you any idea what dust digging up old grout in three rooms will bring? I do. Mr. ** kept reiterating "Ma'am, ma'am, I'm not trying to fight with you, I'm trying to be respectful, I just called to tell you about the grout." I said "I, too am trying to be respectful and not fight with you. I'm just trying to inform you of my reasons for requesting compensation." He said that he would not be getting $1,000.00 off of the price from the grout manufacturer. I said that that was not the issue. If this job had been done CORRECTLY to begin with, we would not be having this conversation.

My time, stress, letter writing, being stood up, taking my home apart numerous times in anticipation of them coming, canceled appointments, etc., those are the issues. It is almost November and there is still no appointment set up for this to be resolved. Not happy with this company at all. Can't believe that a nationwide company does business in such a slip-shod manner. Oh, I forgot to mention that the tiles are uneven and there are loose tiles as well.

I spoke to many people at Empire Today up to the Regional Manager who spoke to me like I was an idiot. He stated he is aware I wanted an itemized bill but is not going to give me one. I in turn stated I am the consumer and I want an itemized bill. He refused again; "We are an out the door company, we quote you a price, you pay it... You signed a contract. We do not have to give you a breakdown."

I also advised them that my doors are scratched and so is the moldings and I mean really bad. I just paid to have the room painted. The regional manager stated, "We don't cover any of that." The tiles are lifted and I was told I was getting Porcelain flooring and they gave me Ceramic. Empire has very poor customer service, they just want your money and don't care about you. I didn't have pictures and the receipt with contract with me now, hopefully I can add later.

The 2 man crew arrived the morning of the install within the window of time promised. They immediately started work and didn't take a break. They were courteous and respectful during the whole processes. They then moved the furniture back into place, cleaned up after theirselves, and did a walk thru to make sure we were satisfied. I would definitely recommend EMPIRE TODAY to anyone needing carpet or other type floor covering.

Well at 3 I did receive a call from the installer that he was on the way but wanted to know if I had a garage and I told him no. He then says I will need to cancel and make another spot due to the rain. I was upset because it was raining the whole day and someone could have told me earlier in the day.

After my frustration I make another spot for Nov 17th. I NEVER get a call this time on when to expect the installer so I stay at the house the whole time until 2pm when the installer says he will be here in 10-20 mins. When they arrive they have me check to make sure the carpet is correct. When he come in I show them the areas and he says he is only suppose to do the living room, dining room and stairway but it was also to include for the 2 bedrooms and hallway upstair. So needless to say I STILL DO NOT have my carpet installed and my place is a total mess since I had my knick knacks moved since Nov 9, sitting in my kitchen and laundry room. I WILL NOT EVER RECOMMEND OR USE EMPIRE AGAIN. Totally disappointed.

The installers came to my house with a thin laminate that chipped away under my finger nails. I told the installers that was not the product I ordered. I took a day off from work and had removed most of the furniture for nothing. The number one reason Empire has so many complaints is because they will not leave a sample with the customer so they are able to switch with a similar cheaper product! Nine years ago I ordered carpet from them and they did the same thing. I won't forget them in the future. I will never use them again. I did cancel my order. I had my husband call and cancel order which I should have went with my gut and the 1st time but I decided to go ahead and give them a chance so I called and rescheduled it for Oct 5th.

Well this day came and I had to call manager to see if anyone was coming she goes on to tell me that the material had not come in and if she could schedule for the following day which I agreed. The next day came and once again I had to call her she said that because of weather, material still had not come in, so me being the understanding person I am agreed to schedule the next day. She goes on to tell me that she understand my frustration and that she would take some more off the price so I agreed once again and now the date is set for October 10th which now is two weeks pass the 1st date I was given.

I received a call this morning confirming appointment for today and installers did show but in a beat up van which you couldn't tell who they worked for. It was 3 Hispanic guys, had me come look in back of van to see if it was my product, afterwards he came inside to see the areas he would be working on and inform me that he had to put wood down before vinyl which would be 500 to 600 hundred more dollars. I told him no, just cancel the job and why didn't the sales rep know this and why was I inform today. Which he couldn't explain, afterward he said well I know someone who could do your floor and I’m thinking what kind of people do they have working for them. If I could give them a zero I would! We got carpet installed less than 2 years ago and about 2 1/2 months ago the carpets were cleaned in all 3 rooms. A day later, the smell that came from one of the rooms was so bad I had to tear it off and remove it because it was right next to my kids rooms that are 2 and 4 years old. When I called Empire to report this, they told me that all I can do is create a case and they would get back to me. About 4 days later, they told me that they wanted to send someone out there to take a look at the carpet, which I had no problem with but he could only do it in 3 days. Now we are talking about a week later, which I had to keep my kids away from the carpet because I tore it out and they wanted to mess with the threads. Once the guy came out he took pictures and asked if he could take the carpet I ripped out with him and I said yes.

About another week and a half later a woman named Janet ** called me and said that the carpet didn't dry correctly. So I told her that it sounds like a product defect because all three rooms were dried the same way. She told me that they can replace the section I tore out with new carpet, which was not even up for discussion because a 2 year old carpet even with cleaning looks completely different from a brand new carpet. So she then proceeded to say that they will pay for material and I have to pay a $400 dollars for labor. I told them that it was unfair that I had to pay again for a defect that their product caused and they should absorb the whole cost. She told me that she would need her supervisor to agree to this and that she would call me back.

One month later with 3 phone calls and 2 voicemails unanswered, I was finally able to talk to a supervisor named Linda ** that decided to tell me that they would lower the price to $200. I told her that it was ridiculous how they have treated me and that they should be ashamed of themselves. I had to get the carpet replaced because I had a huge hole in my floor for the past month and a half and I couldn't live like that anymore so I agreed to pay the cost.

A day before the appointment, they decided to call me and tell me that they overbooked and can't make it. They did tell me that they would now install it for free, which was the first decent thing that they have done for me. We rescheduled and the second time they came they told me that they were going to install gold or silver floor transitions, which I told them that there was no way they were going to do that because they originally installed wood transitioner and it was even noted on my original order form. So yes once again I had to reschedule. The third time they came out, I told them to come early but they gave me a window of 9-11 which they ended up coming at 11:30. This time they told me they couldn't replace the carpet because I needed my husband to remove the closet folding door. I told them the original time they were here that they removed it and put it back together.

The guy said he doesn't do that and I should call my husband. I told him that there wasn't going to be anyone here till 6. By this time I was so upset, I have missed 2 days of work for them and moved furniture twice by myself all for this crap. I called Linda again and left a message. The guys told me that they were going to go and I told them to wait till I got a hold of someone so I knew what was the next step, but before I could get someone on the phone that I was on hold for 25 minutes, they left my house. So now I still have a hole in my floor, I still need to miss another day of work and I have to put everything back and take it out again. AND STILL NO ONE CALLED ME BACK!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

I have decided not to go through with the project because there seems to be a lack of consistency in the prices they offer, and their customer service leaves much to be desired as evidenced by not following through as promised. I am just happy that all this happened before the work started. Based on what I've read here, the quality of their work is also inconsistent.

Waited till 2:00 pm and I called them and asked what time installer would be to my house. They said sorry but they didn't have anyone to do it that day so I asked for my money back. They asked if they could do it Saturday and offered me 100.00 for my time. Said "no thanks." They said fair enough money would be put back in my account asap. That was 3 weeks ago. I call everyday and they tell me I should have it tomorrow - Bunch of liars.

I made an appointment to get an estimate for replacing a carpet for 10/01/2015 between 5pm and 7pm for the estimator to meet. On the date, I called few times prior to the appointment time to make sure my appointment is confirmed and informed them that I was coming 1.5 hour away each way, so it was crucial that he shows up during the time promised, which was 5pm to 7pm. As I drove to the unit, I again called to confirm it, reminded them that I was coming from 1.5 hour away and no indication of problems existed. I called about 6:45pm to find out where the estimator was and he was coming soon. At this time, the call center representative called the estimator and left a message with him and I was asked me to wait for a while since it was not 7pm yet. Obviously I waited.

About 8 minutes after 7pm, I called again. At this time, I was informed that the estimator, Chris, contacted the management office to inform that he was not able to make it to the appointment. Somehow the communication was not conveyed to me. That was completely lie and unacceptable excuse. I know in fact that the call center log every call in the system and know what is going on. Also, the estimator had access to my number as well to inform me. I cannot express how angry I am and very dissatisfied.

We had Empire contractors come and install our laminate flooring through our whole home. It looked great when it was finished, but within the year the floor shifted and started making squeaking noises as you walked across it. They came out and replaced the entire floor because it was installed wrong. Well, as you'd guess we are now having issues with it again. I was even told by a licensed contractor that our stairs that they put the laminate floor on would never have passed a code inspection. The stairs are coming loose and the trim around the floor is coming off the walls. The stairs are a safety hazard. The floors once again have been installed wrong. But Empire will not fix them, they are telling us we will have to pay for them to be fixed now. They are a Big Box company who really don't care about their customers and get away with not having permits for their work. We will never recommend them to anyone! We are out a lot of money.

A toilet tank cracked in our master bath and water seeped through the ceiling and adjoining areas. We called Empire to give us an estimate and do the repairs of the master bath. On the following morning three young Hispanic men showed up in a rusty van, with no ID, a big yellow tool box and a broom. Two of them did not speak any English at all, and the one that did was hard to understand.

He wanted payment in advance before they begin the work. I told him I never pay for work in advance; I will pay after the work is completed. He connected me with the office girl and then to the manager. Both of them insisted that I pay in advance - this is how they know that I have the funds to pay for the job!! And what if I don't like the job they had done? The manager said, "They will do the job to the best of their ability." So I sent the three young men away with an apology. I forgot to ask whether they were licensed and insured. We are going to get the job done by Home Depot.

The vinyl install guys complained from the minute they got here about how far they had to drive then they shouldn't have taken the job. They messed up my freshly painted walls that I paid to have painted. They were leaning doors. They took off the hinges on my walls. They left a mess. They were in a hurry to leave. They wiped blood on the bathroom wall and the hallway. They somehow managed to get the hall walls dirty. They scrapped up the paint on walls in every room. The man said that my washer and dryer were ready to go and he did not hook up the dryer vent - it was shoved in the cupboard.

The salesman measured the carpet wrong and the carpet installers came and could not install because they did not have enough carpet. I said no to Empire sales because their price was too high they sent me a card in the mail "call and we will make you a better offer", so I called and they told me they would send someone to remeasure the whole house. I asked for different representative because the one they sent was having a hard time hearing and doing stuff. They sent the same man and he only remeasured the hallway. He said that's all he needed to do then the carpet was wrong, not enough. The trim they told was either white or oak. Well what they put down is cherry color and does not match the trim I purchased to put in my home. I told the vinyl guy that the trim doesn't even meet the new trim I put up. He just looked at me and I said "well now I will have to replace it and have to pay somebody to do it."

I am very upset. I called the sales rep. I called Empire twice. I talked with the carpet installers boss. I received a phone call today they are putting my complaint to their team. Well hurry my house has been tore up too long I cannot put things back in place because the floor needs to be replaced. Empire needs to stand up and take responsibility for their sub contractors. I want my money back and my floor replaced because I was supposed to have my house back together by now - 6 days tore apart. I am very angry. I used Empire in South Carolina and did not have a problem, so I thought in Michigan it would be fine. No do not use Empire. I will be contacting my attorney tomorrow.

In June, I had Laminate put in my main floor and carpet, put in on my stairs and hallway. The sales person was great, very honest and open about pricing, and was knowledgeable about the products he sold. We scheduled to have the install done in the next couple of days. I was in no real hurry. I just wanted both jobs done in one day. It was scheduled and all set, even paid all upfront since I felt good about the experience so far. Two days later, the Laminate guys come to put in the flooring but I'm told the carpet guys can't be there until two days later. Ok, I'm understandable, stuff happens.

Then at the end of the laminate installation, the installer tells me that they don't have all the material they need to finish the job, missing over half of the transition pieces and trim to finish - so they will have to come back tomorrow. Ok, a little annoyed now. How can you be so far off to not have over half of what you need? Next day comes, they finish the laminate. Overall happy with their installation even though it took longer than expected. Next day, (so this makes three days in a row for a job that was supposed to be done in one) the carpet installers come and install the carpet. Install took a long time for one area, like ALL day long for just my steps and a hallway, but was uneventful other than that.

Now, the real issues begin. Now it is Aug (little more than two months after install), we notice gaps in the laminate boards showing up all over our living room. I call the main 1-800-588-2300 and put in the request for warranty repair. Get a call back the next day from the local office in Manchester NH to set up a time have the flooring people come out on Friday, the 11th of August. I take time off work, and no show, call the main number again told them they never showed up. Got a call back from the Manchester office at 3 pm saying they are sorry and rescheduling for the next Friday, Aug 18.

Aug 18th comes, and guess what, no show again and no call or anything. Tried calling the Manchester office, 1-866-5882307, and it only ever goes to voice-mail, try it yourself - voice mail every time, whose customer service line goes to voice mail? Still haven't been able to get someone out to fix the floor and I realize now after reading some other reviews, I should have done some research before hiring Empire today.

We purchased whole house carpeting from Empire Today the end of April. Had it installed the first of May (the best carpet and padding they sell). Started noticing problems right away with bubbles in the carpet everywhere and seams. After numerous calls and complaints someone came out and attempted to fix the seams to no avail. Still complaining and now into July finally the install manager came to the house and determined that the whole install job was done wrong and said new carpet had to be put down... really! After waiting another month now into August installer comes out to do "repair" work. He doesn't want to install new carpet if he can fix old.

Needless to say I was livid. This was totally unacceptable. They had our carpet on the truck but was told to try and repair it if we would let them first. I didn't and insisted I was told to replace and he did 1 installer with 2 little boys by himself. He did not do the bonus room. I told him he cut the carpet by the hardwood flooring in kitchen a little short and he shook his head no. Now the carpet is unraveling there... tack strips are showing and I complained and complained. Another 2 people come out, took pictures and finally a manager came out and said carpet was cut too short so needs to be replaced. It has been scheduled 3 times by Empire and twice canceled on the day of install and a no show on the day of install.

I will never ever buy from Empire again and NOT recommend them. They should take care of their customers that have already paid a lot of money for their product and quit giving them the runaround. You call them and can never talk to anyone... you have to leave messages and have someone call you back. They don't care... They get their money before install that's why 5 months after the fact we are still waiting on our carpet to be done right. We are still waiting 5 calls again now. It was scheduled for yesterday and they called and canceled again. Surprise surprise that's Empire!

We moved into a new house about a year ago. The house had brand new carpet, but we prefer hard floors. No more than six months ago we had Empire come out and give us a quote as they had done our floors in our old house. We decided on hardwood and had it installed the next day. A few weeks ago a TV tray left a small scratch that was deep enough to not be the same color as the flooring. I was surprised that the TV tray scratched the floor. Then a week ago, while closing the reclining part of the couch a very large gouge was left on the floor.

We called about it and were told that "everything scratches" "even diamonds scratch" and they were not going to warranty the floor! We paid $8,000 less than six months ago and they are telling us it is not covered? That decision solidifies my efforts to not only never use this company again, but tell everyone and anyone I know to choose a much more reputable company that values their customers and more importantly believes in their product enough to recognize this particular floor is inferior! The last time we purchased a floor for our old house, they left us with some planks in case we needed them, this time they did not. I have a 3200 sq ft house, they only did the first floor, I will call someone else for the second floor.

The problem is that she is now 250 miles away. I explained the circumstance and asked if a contract could be overnighted or signed via email. I spoke to three different people, including a supervisor, and was told that there was no way that this could be done. I would have to drive 500 miles round trip to meet someone at her condo for measurement and to sign the contract (even though they have the measurements on file). I was told unsympathetically that there was nothing they could do. I will be making the trip, but it will be to Empire's competitor, since I have to start from scratch.

We have had our carpet for just about a year and it has already started coming apart. Please if you do buy from them don't believe a word their sales people say. We were told the carpet we bought was "pet proof" and that they had tested the carpet in a zoo in a cage with an animal. It was supposed to be stain proof. We paid extra for the pet padding so if our pets did wet on the carpet it wouldn't go through to the sub floor. Well in less than a year we had black stains on it that won't come up... (Not sure where they came from) then what we thought was the seams coming apart was actually the carpet shredding. They then told us it was from pet urine and they wouldn't cover it. Now we are stuck with a carpet that looks terrible and they won't do a darn thing to help us. PLEASE people read their warranty about stains even on a supposed stain free carpet... They don't cover anything!

Yes I do have dogs and one of them is a really old small dog that does at times have problems getting outside in time. But I don't see it causing the type of damage that we see. We paid the extra money just for this reason just in case our pets did wet on it. I will never do business with them again. I had carpet for over 20 years that was definitely pet stained because we had a dog that was very sick... It NEVER shredded or came apart like this carpet has. Anyone that considers doing business with them anyway, be forewarned they will not help you if you need anything from them. They won't even help us fix this mess. The sales people will tell you anything to make a sale. Also whatever they tell you get it in writing so you have something to fall back on. Just please be informed as to what they actually cover... We didn't and we are paying for it now.

The top color just comes off everywhere on this beautiful floor so I thought ended up being talked about by everyone who came in and asked what happened to this floor. I signed a 5 page contract, left a nice deposit, picked an install date. I took the day off from work (lost $500) only to get a message that my job was cancelled. I called back and spoke to "Joe." Joe rescheduled my install for the following Wednesday and guaranteed that the installers would come. Once again I passed on overtime and lost another $500. Unlike the first date they screwed me on, I never got a pre-message. I was told that I would get a call on Wednesday morning to get a 2 hour window from 8am to 6pm.

At 10:45am after waiting again, I received a call stating my job was cancelled again. I spent all morning moving all my furniture out of the house in preparation. I lost it and went off on the guy who basically hung up on me... I called my salesman to complain and he said that I should of went somewhere else. After calling Empire and demanding my deposit back, I was once again "assured" by Marco that the job would be done Thursday morning. Thursday morning I got a call from the installers and they arrived early and did a good job (sub-contractors from Rhode Island).

They did the entire upstairs and took extra carpet for the 2 stair runners. They said Empire would call me the next day to let me know when they would be back to finish the stair runners... as I expected, no phone call. I called numerous times and spoke to someone who said that they could not reach anyone in the office to get an answer. I was once again assured that they would call me back which they never did. I've emailed them, called them to no response... This company does not care about their customers at all!!! Do not use them ever and spread the word to everyone you know to go elsewhere. If I don't hear back from them soon then I'm demanding money back to have someone else finish the job. Empire you really suck!!!

I had carpet installed in three rooms in my home. During installation, one of the installers made a hole in my wall while attempting to move furniture. Argued with me that it wasn't him, even though I witnessed him do it AND the hole was not there upon his arrival and initial walk-through we took TOGETHER prior to installation. He also took the form I was supposed to fill out regarding how satisfied or dissatisfied I was with his service. I wasn't able to fill it out. Most likely, he filled it out and forged my signature. He bled all over my floor after he cut himself and when I asked him if he was all right, he yelled at me that it wasn't him, even though he and his partner and I were the only ones in the house. He had taped his fingers and the tape had blood on the outsides and sides of it. I wasn't worried about the (tile) floor, but rather his health, but he yelled at me anyway. So very unprofessional.

I have had several conversations with Customer Service and Management, calling over eight times now with complaints and attempting to rectify the problem. After having to wait three weeks for an appointment for a contractor to make right the situation, they have not shown on two separate appointments now, as I have cleared my schedule and waited endlessly for their arrival. TWO NO SHOWS IN A ROW! Every time I speak to Customer Service, the employee places me on hold for long periods of time to get a hold of a manager, most of the time who never actualizes. Instead they leave voicemails for people who in turn have a clerk or phone representative return the call with a new date and time to sit and wait for nothing, without any true resolution to the problem.

They are so not worth the convenience of having them come to your home with samples of their flooring. The salespeople are just that, awaiting their commission. Once they have your money, no one wishes to speak to you. Go with a more reputable company. Save yourself the headaches and the rudeness and the absolute unprofessionalism. This company does NOT care about customer satisfaction or the customer in general, as much as they state that they do. They take your money and then treat you poorly, without any regard to your time, energy, or life.

They, in my opinion, are a total joke of a company, and they should not be allowed to get away with treating people in this way. There is so little one can do about the shoddy work and attitude that some companies instill in their employees, other than to write posts such as this. My only other two actions I can take are: to complain with the Better Business Bureau, which I intend to do and to hire a contractor to fix the problem myself and hope they reimburse me (which they won't), and then sue them. Perhaps I can have the cost of repair reimbursed to my credit card by going through my credit card company instead of Empire Today. Who has time for all that? I work full time and am a full time student, and have much better ways to spend my time. Don't do business with this company. They truly suck.

In sales you always under sell and over deliver! Do not ever use Empire Today for flooring. Installer showed up and first thing he said was "we don't do baseboards" which were on my contract, then said I need to show him the baseboards we got b/c he doesn't work with a lot of baseboards, then said they would not install our flooring because they did not want to float the floors WHICH WAS IN OUR CONTRACT! Gave him some advice and then told him "babye" and canceled my contract! Empire Carpet is a NO NO. I called the sales lady (Chris/Christine) and let her know and she thought it would be a valid argument to try and tell me it was because of my foundation rather than try and apologize and make it right. They talk so highly of their customer service, but right off the bat the installer did not want to do his job and talked about it costing more money. Told him to leave in so many words.

I don't know why most people tend to leave only bad reviews. The good experiences seem to just be ignored. People don't take the time to write something good. Empire was prompt with their delivery (actually got to my home an hour early but called first to get my OK), installation was flawless and professionally done, moved and replaced all furniture and bedding, hauled off old carpet and cleaned up before leaving. I would highly recommend this company.

I scheduled an in home consultation which went fine. I wrote a check for the entire amount due ($4120) and was told that amount would not be deducted from my account until the job was completed. Not true, the money was deducted from my account that very night. After a couple of hours of contemplating spending that amount of money for an old mobile home, I called and cancelled the job. At that time, I was given a cancellation number. The next morning, I received a call from the carpet installers telling me that they were on the way. Upon telling them that I had cancelled, I received another phone call from the General Manager. When I told him that I thought the price was just too high, he counter-offered a lower price. I decided to go ahead with the lower price and the installers showed up within a few hours.

While I am very pleased with the actual carpet, the installers managed to break a small plastic piece that is essential to rehanging the bi-fold doors to all of my closets. They told me that they couldn't rehang the doors because I would have to have them trimmed at the bottoms in order to fit with the new carpet and padding. They never even attempted to rehang the doors to see if they would fit but, as I would later, discover... this was because they had broken all of the parts needed. The installers were in a very big rush to get out of here, saying they were tired. The next day, I hired someone to come in and trim all of the doors and rehang them for me. That is when we discovered all of the broken parts. I had been in contact with the GM over other issues and proceeded to send him pictures of what his installers had done. He told me to get them fixed and send him the receipt and he would take care of it.

It took four days to get the parts (they had to be special ordered) but finally my 8 sets of bi-fold doors were reinstalled. This was back in June 2015. In the middle of July, I received a phone call from Empire stating that they figured they were paid in full and that they didn't owe me any further money either. After arguing with the person, she said she would get back to me. Later that day, I received a voicemail stating that she was wrong and that they still owed me $150 and that the accounting department would be issuing the check that same day. It is now the middle of August and I still haven't been compensated for the damage the installers did.I have tried to get in contact with the GM on several occasions but he is ignoring my calls.

I am fed up with trying to deal with them and am actually considering taking them to Small Claims Court. I think that it is disgusting that they would treat a senior citizen in this fashion. Oh... did I mention that they also charged me $150 to move furniture? It is clearly stated in their contract that furniture removal was included in the price of the carpeting. I, did however, finally get that money back. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. They are overpriced to begin with, tell you it is "Buy 1 room, get 2 rooms free" but when questioned about the price per yard of the carpet, I was told they don't sell it by the yard but by the job.

I would like to people know what I went thru with the sales person and also with customer service. My wife and were going to have new floor coverings after almost 30 yrs. But what we have now looks about what we took out. It started about two years ago in February with the sales person. He came to the house and we talked about carpet and vinyl flooring. He told me that the installer would remove and dispose of my old carpet and take care of any stains. This turned out to be lie number one. Then we picked out our vinyl flooring. He went on to tell us that the installer would remove the old linoleum. This was lie number two. When the installers came over they were unhappy that I did not have the carpet removed. When I told him that they were to remove it they replied that they had no instructions to do so and that they do not remove carpet let alone dispose of it.

They could not get a hold of the sales person but they went ahead and removed the carpet. When I asked about taking care of stains they said absolutely not. They went ahead and installed the carpet. Then it came to the vinyl floor. I said that they were to pull up the old floor. They said there were no instructions to do so nor could they. They needed to put down sup floor and then the vinyl flooring. I had to give them a ride to the lumber yard to pick up some sup flooring as they did not have any. They put down the vinyl and the transition from the carpet was about 3/4" with the carpet edge. They had to leave that, tell they went to Menards to get a different edge strip. When they left after day one I had such a mess. When my wife came home she notice that the vinyl was not the one we picked but it looked good so we did not have them replace it.

The following day the installer came back and installed the carpet edge strip. A representative from Empire came out and apologized. They compensated me 500.00 off my bill. At this time I was done but I had my carpet clean from Zerorez. I went about two mounts longer than I was supposed to and after they were done the carpet still looked broken down. It was not fluffy like where the less traffic areas. I paid the 75.00 for Empire to come out and they took samples, checked my vacuum cleaner. The person from Empire told me that Zerorez was not good way to clean the carpet that you need a hot water injection like Stanley Steamer. Empire would not even send in the samples stating that I was over the allotted time to have it cleaned. I talked to a Mike in customer service and he said he would send in the sample.

I called back some time later and he said that Phoenix carpet denied my claim and that he would check and see if Empire could help me out. Months have gone by and I called and tried to reach Mike but could not. The lady I did get in touch with said that if the manufacturer will not warranty the carpet that Empire cannot do anything. I said to the lady "so Mike lied to me about seeing if Empire can help me" and she replied no and I said "well if you said there is nothing Empire can do and Mike said he will check to see if Empire can help, what do you call that?" I hope this helps someone so they don't go thru what I did. What I learned is to keep your business local. I tried to save money with Empire but it did not work. I will be ripping up my carpet and have Carpeting by Mike from Somerset WI install it.

I ordered $3,000 worth of carpeting from Empire Carpet. I chose them over Smart Carpet (which I had used twice before, without issues) because their pricing was cheaper and we had no carpet in the house due to water damage and we were told an installation date of one week later. During the carpet selection process, quality wasn't really discussed and the salesman was more concerned with our color choices. We ordered one carpet for our family room and carpeting for our great room, dining room, and hallway.

We were told that our job would take the whole day and to expect and early time for installation, due to the amount of carpet purchased. They called one week later (the day we scheduled the deliver) and said our time would be later in the day (I should have known something was wrong). I was told the amount due for balance (the total amount, which I expected). Then they showed up in an unmarked van with only the family room carpet. They said the other carpet was special order and had no idea when it would be in.

Then they expected me to pay for the family room carpet and installation (about $400)... which I refused because I had one check made out for the entire balance of the entire order (which I was told to have by the company that morning). They installed the family room carpet and the following day, I received a call that said they were taking me to collections. I explained that I never said I wouldn't pay. I would pay when they delivered and installed my entire order. I knew that in paying for the family room, I wouldn't see the other carpet for quite some time. Remember I have been living on a cement slab without carpeting due to water damage. Empire knew how important the installation date was to us!

I will now need to take a second day off from work. They shouldn't have even showed up and they should have waited for the entire order to be present. Actually, they should have been upfront in telling us that the other carpet was special order and we wouldn't have chosen Empire at all! I will never use Empire Carpet. Back to Smart Carpet.

When I asked him what caused he said, "what do you care, you're not paying for it anyway". I did find an area where the dog had urinated. It was totally different and I paid someone else to replace it because of my experience with Empire. Also on the commercial, if the job was so great why did the customer have to be paid and why isn't the commercial filmed in her home, according to the disclaimer. Stay away from Empire Today!!!

In the summer of 2013, we employed Empire Today to install carpet in 2 bedrooms, and the connecting hallway, and into the bedroom closets floor. The buy 1 get the other free was not available as we were told. The cost totaled more than $4000. We were told the excess carpet would be left with us, due to the fact we were paying for it, but that day, we had a bear in our yard, and things were hectic outside. The excess carpet was taken by the 3 installers, not a crumb was left, so we begin calling the following day, and just got passed around, and put on hold. There was never a resolution. We even called the BBB, and a female owner is on the board. We will never use the company again, nor recommend them. So sad.

I bought tile for my kitchen. The first day I waited as they came hours after they said they would. Paul showed up first to tell me that he was going to send someone to start removing the old lino. A guy showed up and about an hour into it I poked my head in and asked if there was any sign of asbestos to which he answered "what’s that?" After that, another guy came and started to work. I realized after they told me that they don't bring plastic to place in the doorway to prevent dust from entering the rest of the house I started to worry that there could be asbestos my grandson and I could be breathing it. I decided to trust the process.

The first day I noticed they had taken some food which they denied but I found wrappers in the yard. They also helped themselves to a bagel and some lemonade. He went to another part of the house and got my broom and I have never seen that again. Also when I was told the job would have to be completed on a Sunday, I asked him not to come until 9:00 am and he showed up at 7:00 am instead. The installer took three days to do the work and at the end, his boss and the manager from Empire came to see the job and he was fired and I was told the whole job had to be completely done over. Three different days I asked the guy to lock the door when he left and somehow he didn't do it. My house was left open for hours each time.

I was scheduled for the following Thursday for reinstallation and was told I'd get a call on Wednesday to confirm everything. The call did not come. I left a message and Brian, the installation manager called me at 6:30 the next morning to tell me someone would be there before 10:00 am. I got a call from the installer at about 10:15 that he was on his way. I left my house unlocked to go to work as he told me he was down the street. Apparently he got into an accident on the way and my house was left unlocked for 4 hours until I got home from work. Nobody came to do the work that day or to lock my door and I was not informed until 2 when I could get home.

When Brian came to inspect the original botched job, he took notes and told me that it was going to be really messy to pull the tile out and that he would instruct them to bring plastic to cover my kitchen door and that they would bring new quarter rounds and a few other things. When they finally arrived, Brian had not given him any instructions at all. I was told that Paul's supervisor (the contractor) would be present during the entire re-installation. I never saw him at all.

Three days into the reinstall, I was told by the Customer Service department that there was no reason for it to go another day, but at 1:30 pm it was nowhere complete and the installer wanted to quit for the day. He had told me the previous day that he had personal business to take care of. I told him that it was not acceptable and told him to stay and finish. He got really mad and it was obvious.

I work from home and had to cancel clients several times because of this issue. I teach yoga and fitness training. I told him several times that I had yoga clients coming at 4:00 pm and it had to be somewhat quiet for an hour. I thought that due to the trouble I've gone through it was not too much to ask. As soon as my yoga clients got there he pulled his saw in the kitchen and started to cut tile. As many know it is a loud whining sound. My clients walked out to the driveway and he was there with a smile on his face asking if I wanted him to stop. Both of my clients said that it was so obvious that he had done this to be a jerk. They left. I was so upset that I called him out on it and he left - job undone and a huge mess. So I was left with a half done job - and a huge mess. I will never let another person from that works for Empire ever into my house again. Luckily, I have not paid a dime yet and won't.

I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I have gone through. In my many years of owning homes and having work done on them, I have never experienced anything as bad as this. They lie to get the business and then you experience a series stressful and many times expensive chain of events. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.

I called and set up the appointment. I told them I wanted 1 X 12" unfinished flooring. The reason was because we rescue dogs and cats. The carpet that was down was becoming stained and cleaning costs were becoming excessive. The salesman convinced I needed the composite wood floor that can handle the animal traffic. He had some valid arguments so I went with that. The crew that finally arrived did a great job and were in the guidelines of the work order.

Within 3 days, the floor turned black where a dog peed on a chair leg. Then the wood buckled up because they did not put down any Luan prior to installing the floor. I complained and after 2 weeks or so they came, laid down the Luan over the new floor and put down another floor on top of it all. Within 2 or three days the floor turned black. They no longer return my calls nor answer any emails. I spoke with other flooring companies trying to track down the issue and fix it. None of them had ever seen this issue.

I have complaints about the workmanship and broken plumbing that they acted as if they had nothing to do with but it pales when compared with stealing. All you can do is to have security people watching when they come into your house and then search them before they leave. I need to add thousands of dollars to the cost of the job. First day, we have 4 animals, which I had told them in the beginning, my husband and I have COPD, (breathing concerns), it has been at least 5 yrs before any real hard cleaning has been done, one of my cats had 'urped' on rug some time ago under bed, didn't clean up because could not get to it, but it did not smell, did not hurt anything, lots of dog hair all over. When they came in, I explained about the health issues and the 'dirt' and said, "If any problems anywhere, please let me know so we can handle it." They chose to remove furniture, took pictures of the 'dog hair accumulation', the 2 spots of discharge from cat, took pictures, told us that one had allergies to dogs, they could not stay, would return in the morning, which they have not. My house is in a mess removing everything.

In calling sales rep, said he would make contact w/ His mgr and get back w/ Me in am. Also told me had talked to crew and that there was feces all over and they would not do the removal. My hubby and I removed all the hair and mess we could, called and had to leave a message to sales rep, told him "I know we both wanted a smooth transition to continue w/ Our work," that I was available for anything he needed done, that 'clean up' was done. That was 2 days ago, still waiting for information.

Guess I could sue for breach of contract, but thinking price is high for a 50% discount. Lesson learned, you don't get something for nothing. All workers could not speak English but one. They are the ones that created the situation, since I had asked if there would be any problems or situation, to let me know, instead they went and created their own story. The rug is going to be thrown out, so there is no longer a health issue either, so??? This is Friday, will give them till Monday, give me time to think this out also if no results have not been made. I come from a unique perspective in that I worked for Empire for a year and a half. I cannot speak of their business model or practices due to a confidentiality agreement, but I can speak as a customer, who used Empire for 4 installations, one prior to my employment. Empire will call me a disgruntled former employee... damn right! I also left on my own as I could not work with the people in the local office or sell a product and service I couldn't believe in. My first install was 6 years ago for laminate in 2 rooms, hallway and stairs. The salesman screwed up on the order as Empire doesn't do laminate on stairs, so they informed me they'd do wood at no additional cost. Great... I thought. The installers failed to set the nails on the stairs and nails were poking through on every step. A safety hazard. They did repair it and since they did I had no problem going to work for them a few years later.

Little did I know every install would do with them would have similar issues and more. My second install, now working for Empire, they installed carpet in 4 bedrooms. The installers left a one-inch gap from the wall in one room, tack strips poking through (which punctured my foot, and a horrible seam. They came out and fixed all but the seam, saying it was the type of carpet I ordered. What I never understood was why was half the length of the seam done perfect? So, if you don't mind them coming back to repair what they screwed up in the first place be my guest, however I suggest you read on to see how bad it gets. My third job and most egregious was for tile and carpet on the wood stairs they installed years before. The tile was done first, the installers took no care in covering up cabinets when removing tile in my kitchen and scratched my new and professionally painted cabinets.

They do have a disclaimer about baseboards but this was much higher than baseboards, some as high as an 1 foot! See attached for a few pictures. I complained and was told they'd cover the cabinets in the bathrooms, they didn't, until I raised a fuss. Nor did they cover my carpet going into one of the baths and they got thin set all over the carpet I had put in less than a year earlier! I called to complain again and while doing that the installers used a rag and water to rub it into my carpet. I was told I'd be reimbursed, but I didn't pursue it as I didn't want to create any hassles with the company I worked for. I did after all enjoy my job. As usual the installers had to come back as there were numerous tiles that were so bad. See pics of a few When the installer came to carpet the stairs he said he'd have to rip out the wood. I knew wood stairs could be carpeted over, but he insisted.

I had to call the install dept to have them tell the installer it could be done. Was this guy hired yesterday or what? I was also charged in full that morning before the job started, but it was less than a day so I thought no big deal. Read on... My fourth and final install was for hardwood and tile in a home we just purchased. The day of closing a drunk driver ran through the front room. I had to change the order to remove the front room, then add it back in when the room was repaired. I also made a change to remove and replace tile in a laundry. The installer, who mostly does wood, complained it was going to be a hassle to tear up and thinking I might do some renovations in the future in that room I removed it from the order, but I did leave tile in the kitchen on the order. For that I was called a sales rep with half a brain by the general manager in an email he copied to numerous people in the company. See attached.

But that wasn't all I was charged in full $10517.00 again for the job before it even started a breach of contract and against the law in California. See attached charged June 4 job not completed until June 19! The job was not completed for 2 full weeks! Additionally, they ran out of product, not uncommon, and the installer was enraged so he left the warehouse leaving some of the product behind and couldn't complete my daughter's room as a result. No one could tell me when the rest of the product would come in. So I told install to go ahead a tile the kitchen since they didn't know when the wood would come in. It was confirmed and when the day came it was a no show. I was told they had no installers available that could get through the Temecula border check point. So they're known illegals? In the meanwhile I had a painter start painting. I informed the install manager they'd be finishing up that Friday 3 days.

On Friday I was out when the installer arrived. He walked into the front room where the painter was, took pictures and said "I can't work like this" and took off! He could have finished my daughter's bedroom and my office, which were on the other end of the house and separate from the painter. I called to complain and instead got a tongue lashing from the assistant install manager and general manager saying they got his pictures and that I couldn't expect him to work around the painter. So, I texted pictures of the areas to the general and install managers of the clear path the installer had and the areas, that were nowhere near the painter, that he could have done. I never did get an apology from anyone! I might add the painter was done by 1 pm that day! Almost 2 weeks later and my daughter was still without a bedroom!

The following day the installer ran the security gate in our community and refused to pull over until he got to my house! He exited his truck in a rage swearing at the security guard. I came outside and calmed him down and explained to security he was working for me. Had I not intervened he would have gotten a ticket and possibly arrested. The wood turned out fine, but after a great deal of stress and aggravation. I ended up canceling the tile order and turned in my samples. Bottom line is if you want the risk of them having to come back and fix what they screwed up, having them damage your property, out of inventory, being charged in full before the job even starts then Empire's the company for you! If not avoid them at all costs.
