The salesman and installers were very nice and the installers did a wonderful job putting in my laminate floor. Recently bought a house and had Lowe's come out and measure but wanted someone to come to my house with samples and help me decide on what to do since I had hardwood in another room. And a friend recommended Empire. The sales rep told me laminate was very durable and as I am getting on in years, did not want to spend a lot of money and wanted something that looked nice and would hold up as I have a dog and grandchild. I went with the laminate but within one week the laminate started peeling up in one area and then spread to several other areas in the living area.
I had an area rug in part of the room and the laminate under it was fine. Contacted Empire and when they came out, they said it was water damage though I had used Bona (as they recommended) and a damp mop to clean and then dried it with a towel so could not understand why it was peeling. They saw a small drop of water they brought in at the doorway and said I needed a rug there (there had been a rug there I took up before they came). If they are going to say something about a drop of water, what does that say about their product? Said they would replace the peeling areas which I was fine with. Then yesterday my adult son came over and spilled a drink on the floor in another room with new laminate. I immediately cleaned it up with Bona and a towel. Within five minutes it was peeling up.
If a product is going to peel every time I clean it and cannot stand up to normal spills, I feel I should have been warned when I bought the product instead of being told how durable it was. Had I known their laminate was not durable, I would have saved up for hardwood. I have a hardwood floor in another room in my home that has been there 15 years and looks great. The laminate looked great for a week until it started peeling. It seems like paper over cardboard. It didn't even last a month. And then to feel like it's something I did when I did exactly as I was told in caring for it upsets me. I have not contacted them about the second room yet because I cry every time I think about it. Is this going to happen every time I clean or if my grandchild spills something? If that's the case I'm going to need to have it replaced every few months. This was supposed to last 30 years.
And I am 60 and can't afford to keep replacing something I thought was a good product. I was told it was the best laminate they sold. I would either like my money back so I can buy a durable product or have the money I paid put towards hardwood and just pay the difference though I'm concerned about Empire doing anything else since their "best" didn't last a week. I have no complaints about the sales rep or the installation team, just the product and that I was misled into thinking it was durable. I clean my floors with Bona every 1-2 weeks and use a towel to dry it so it looks nice. If I can't even clean my floors without them falling apart, I might as well have a dirt floor. And it makes me physically sick to have to make payments on something that I know is going to have to be totally replaced with something good as soon as I get them paid off and can afford to get a quality product somewhere else. I'll never get to retire.
We have read your review and want to apologize for the lack of communication you have received. We regret to know that you are still not satisfied with your product, and assure you that we take your concerns seriously. We will be following up with you soon to start working towards a solution.

I called Empire for carpeting then I went to Home Depot and got a ballpark number and both prices were very competitive with one another. Empire could install earlier so I went with them. I had $8500 worth of carpeting laid in my house's lower level—in my dining room, my master bedroom, and the other bedrooms downstairs. We just bought our home and it was really worn so once we put that Berber, it’s beautiful carpeting and we’re very happy with it. So far, so good, I’ve had no problem with it. I had a good experience so I passed on Empire as a recommendation to my granddaughter. They were visiting over and we bragged Empire up so they called them.
On the contrary, my granddaughter had a horrible experience over in Alma, Michigan. The guy never showed up the first time then he called and canceled the second time. So I called Empire and talked to a manager there and he said, “Well, I will make sure that they show up this next time,” which they did, but this guy said, “Well, finally, I showed up.” That’s how his response was and I was really ticked off to say the least. She ended up going with Home Depot. So even though my experience was good and I don’t have anything to say about it, I’ll never recommend them again because of my granddaughter’s experience.

I have used Empire before so I went back to them. They installed vinyl flooring in my living room and hallways and I'm very dissatisfied. It didn't meet my expectations. It's ugly and very dull! It doesn't shine and has bubbles in it that look like a stain. When we first picked the materials, the salesman told us that we could mop it and put wax. Now, they're telling us that we can't do that. But it's still not working because we didn't put a whole lot of wax on the floor yet it's bubbling up and stained.

I missed more than a half of days of work during the original install date and had to rearrangement my home four times by the end of the process while missing more time off from work. The company was slow and lethargic at remedying the situation in the most minimal way. Anyone that is interested in buying from Empire Today, make sure to do the following: Get multiple quotes and compare square footage. Empire Today calculated 10-14% more square footage than anyone else. This is 1 way they increase the price. Submit other quotes to Empire to try to get the price down. Empire first quoted us $11,270 and then later counter offered $8,500; that's about 75% of their original price. If they could do it for $8,500 why were they trying to charge more originally? But we ended up going with someone else who had better product and was cheaper!

The only thing that upset me was that they didn't come on the day they were supposed to. They told me that they would be out on a Tuesday and that if we moved our stuff out, there'd be no charge for the guys to move it. I had a stove, refrigerator, freezer, washer and dryer in my dining room. Then they called late in the day and said "We're not going to be able to come out today. But we'll schedule you for next week." I got mad and I said, "Oh, hell no. I can't afford to eat in restaurants for a whole week. I want this taken care of." Loyal Empire customer, but we may think twice next time. We were not satisfied with all the issues with timeline or the rude, Don, the 2nd time the installers showed up. There is also the fact our stove is now 3/4" above our counters, we have to replace $300 worth of rugs because the doors won't close (I haven't found rugs thin rough to work either), and we need to replace two doors because the floor is too high now. Contracted with Empire to install carpeting in condo. Living room, bedroom den and stairs to lower level. First installation was plagued with lost shipment, bad installation (seam was very evident in living room), could not repair and after 3 plus months was determined that a replacement was necessary. Misordered the amount of carpet needed 2 times, lost shipment once, new installation is a different shade than original, quality of carpet is so bad that seam cannot be made invisible, now have two shades of carpet and seam evident in living room again. Cannot get Empire people to answer calls, or resolve problems now for last 3 days.
Want total replacement or removal and refund, but cannot seem to get anyone to respond. Empire Grand Rapids, Michigan has no idea of customer service or communications with customer... voice mail and no responses. I have never dealt with any business that has worse communications and customer service. The quality of the product is very suspect. I hope this does not end up in a formal or legal consumer action, but I am ready to do battle with incompetent management. Employee installers are good and try to do a job with bad product and bad communications, scheduling and service.

The carpet salesperson who visited my home was very easy to work with. I left many aesthetic choices to her, and I was grateful that she kept me engaged without burying me in question after question. (I really like it when professionals act like professionals, and she did.) The installers did a passable job. I expect that they feel the more jobs they complete the better they are doing. This can lead to a severe quality issue. I am glad I reviewed what they did as they were not planning on telling me that the pocket doors within the rooms carpeted would no longer open. They knew this, but chose not tell me until I found the issue as I reviewed the work completed with them. I also noticed that they did not place padding under the portion of the floor that is difficult to see. The installers did not mention this either.
In closing, I look forward to having the Empire Salesperson back as I continue to put floor coverings into the home. I know now that the installers must be watched carefully as they may cut corners to complete the job quickly. (I guess in their homes pocket doors working, or not, are not an issue.) Example of why this is an issue: I sit at a writing desk with my feet directly above the area in the floor that the installer neglected to install padding onto. I have cold feet in the winter no matter how many pairs of socks in have on. It's a shame that the installers do have a different idea of what a quality installation of carpet is.

We had our entire house recarpeted. We had our salesman show us ONLY PET PROOF carpeting which would repel any leaks or accidents. He ASSURED us that the types we were getting would be just that. He saw our home and our pets. I specifically asked "So if my dog piddles on the carpet, how long will the puddle stay there?" and he said "Forever!" I was sold. I thought this would be the answer to my prayers. (We foster dogs sometimes, and we required something to mitigate accidents, and this was the ONLY reason we even bothered to get new carpet.) My husband and I even selected the highest grade (highest price) of carpet in the Pet Proof series to increase the efficacy of this promise. We also got Pet Proof padding under it per recommendation of salesman Ron. Turns out this promise was NOT true.
After the install (which went smoothly, and the installers were quite nice and very professional, and worked VERY hard over 2 days) I was very happy with the look and feel of my home. Until I decided to test the carpet on its repelling actions... I took a piece of leftover carpet and dribbled some water on it. It "repelled" for all of three seconds and then sank right through. It went right through the carpet, through the backing, and onto the table. I was shocked. I tried this again and same thing happened. I was absolutely horrified.
I called Empire's customer service line and spoke to a rep (Sarah) about what I just saw. Sarah said "It should not be doing that" and put in a tag or whatever to have someone contact me via phone or a visit. I called back the next day since no one had called me (she said someone would be calling me that night or the next morning) and Mario said that they have 48-72 business hours before they have to get back to me, so I would have to wait. I didn't think a simple explanation should take that long, so I contacted the sales rep.
He immediately went on the defensive and told me that "The carpet FIBERS would not hold moisture, not the backing, because if that was the case then why would you need Pet Proof padding?" I said "Why would I need liquids to seep through to the padding?? How would I know an accident had occurred?" He didn't really have an answer and told me he was "on my side" and that he would contact the company and have them call me to "explain how the fibers work". No one has called. I was completely upset because this is NOT how he explained this to us at our home visit. We asked REPEATEDLY about how this will repel pet accidents, and he assured us it would do what we needed (he kept referencing how he had just installed this for his daughter's home, and she had 2 big labs, etc).
I called Empire AGAIN 6 days later, and spoke w/ Elaine. She said she would contact the 'market office' to get more information, and she had to leave a message for them to call me because they were no longer in the office. She said she would escalate the issue in their system, and that I should hear back within 24 hours (the call was made at 3:15 PST on 12/14). It is now 9:23 am on 12/16 and NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME even after FOUR attempts to speak to someone to explain things. To say I am just "disappointed" is an UNDERSTATEMENT. We did NOT get what we wanted and spent close to $10,000!! I will NOT recommend this company to anyone. The only good thing was the gentlemen who did the install, they worked very hard. But now I have carpet that doesn't do anything more than the last carpet did. VERY UPSETTING.
Updated on 12-22-2015: I've called five times to the 800#. Each time, I was told I would receive a call back from someone who can help me try and work through my issue (the so-called "Pet Proof" carpet is NOT Pet Proof). Twice I was told I would be called back "within 24 hours." In fact, the last person, Jasmine, said she ASSURED me that someone would be calling me back within 24 hours... And of course, nothing has happened. I will never recommend this company to anyone. I will probably need to now take this issue to arbitration, since they are not willing to talk to me to resolve anything.
Shame on this company. I paid $9,000 to them, and they were happy to speak to me when they took my money. Now, they refuse to talk to me??? I have been nothing but courteous and polite on the phone, and hoped to work this out. But this is absolutely ridiculous, and I am truly disgusted. Even my previous review was responded to by Empire with "we will be following up with you shortly to discuss the situation in more detail." Yet still NO CONTACT WHATSOEVER. Unbelievable

We used Empire Today for our main house and our rental condo. The first guy that did our house was excellent, showed up on time and did a good job with the installation, but the second guy showed up an hour late and when he called that he was running late he almost threatened saying that If we want our installation done today or not or do we want to reschedule. When I complained about him being late and his attitude the customer service was apologetic and said they would issue a discount for the inconvenience but that day I had to pay the full price, which was fine thinking they at least accepted their fault.
Next day I get a call from their customer service rep, Erin I believe, she said that even though the installer did not arrive between the time window given (12-2) he still arrived between 8-6 which the contract says. The two-hour window is just for courtesy and they can arrive anytime between 8-6. Also when talked about the installer's attitude she said she knew him personally and he wouldn't behave like that and that I was basically lying. So in all her attitude was even worse than the installer and she just wanted to give excuses for not issuing a discount (which was originally promised before the installation began). I mean I am not talking about a 50% discount but they should have at least given like a $50 credit just to keep the customer happy. Worst customer service. Not expected from a company like Empire. If somebody asks me about Empire Today, I would probably say, “If you can get somebody else, try.” It just was not very satisfying. My daughter did a lot of work that they could, and should have done. She moved most of the furniture by herself, big pieces, to make it easier for them, and they didn’t do anything to make it easier for us. Although the men who put the floor in did a good job, I don’t think the service was good because they had to re-schedule, and didn’t show. Also, the quality of the work ended up being good because they had to come back a couple of times. And if I’m not mistaken, there might be one other thing that needs to be fixed. I just wasn’t happy.
Moreover, for the inconvenience that we went through, they were supposed to take $250 off of our total bill, and they did take it off initially, but they added it again, and had the nerve to charge $2 interest, perhaps because that’s what it would be for $250. Our purchase was supposed to be interest-free. To turn around and not honor their commitment just isn’t right, it just isn’t good business practice. I wouldn’t recommend them.

My concerns were addressed when they finally got here, which is why I gave them a "satisfied with the experience", even though right now I am NOT satisfied at all. The other 2 issues that I had were addressed, but again we are having a problem with the hardwood in the hall with the vinyl tiles in the kitchen. I received a call at 7 AM that they would be here between 9-11 AM, however THEY were NOT told that and didn't get here until 11:50 and that was only after I called again to find out where they were. NOT happy by being woken up at 7 AM, as not everyone is up at that time of the morning and then not having anyone show up in the time frame given.
With that said, after not even a week (they were here on Dec 7 and today is Dec 11) the hardwood is again separating from the threshold that separates the hardwood in the hallway from the vinyl tiles in the kitchen. This is a HIGH traffic area and I do NOT want to be calling every month to have it "fixed"! I am going to need them to come back and this time I want the threshold removed and the flooring fixed permanently this time. We paid a LOT of money for this flooring to be put down and now I am getting angry that it was not fixed permanently!!! Right now the separation is minimal, but I know that as time goes by it will increase in size until it is back how it was BEFORE it was "fixed".

I had Empire send a salesman to do a pitch. I told him I'm getting other estimates. I had another company there right after him. This second salesman told me it seemed like the Empire guy's price was too good and that he bets he "burned the deal." He explained that meant that he gave a very low price that no one else could beat but that if I called him back, then suddenly he will say that the quote was no good since he left already and that the price would be higher now. So I called the Empire guy and sure enough, like he said, the Empire guy said the quote was only good while he was in my house and that he probably won't be able to get that price again. I told someone else about my experience and he called BS on it. So I called Empire's main customer service number and told them about what happened and was told that was not how they operate and that I should've been given a quote that's good for 30 days.
So it seems while corporate Empire has certain guidelines to follow, their salesmen are off the reservation. I know it's not an isolated incident because I'm a repeat Empire customer. Slightly different scenario though, a couple years ago a different salesman at least told me while he was still at my house that the price is only good while he's there. I ended up buying only to come to find out later that he sold me a bottom tier carpet but told me it was one of the better ones. Also expect a fight with warranties. I won't go into what they told me but you can read countless other complaints by other people. Bottom line is, go ahead and call Empire's customer service and ask about how their salesmen are supposed to operate with quotes and such. If you decide to call them for an appointment, at least you will be prepared and call BS on a salesman who wants to engage in dishonest or high-pressure tactics.

Basically I purchased carpet from Empire on 12/2/15 and the representative showed me all they had. I supposedly purchased the thickest and the best that they had. When the installers came to install the carpet, the carpet they had was a joke, pieces of the carpet was falling out in the street once I ran my hand through it. The carpet that was brought to my home was nowhere near what I agreed on. Once I called "Empire Today" they had the audacity to tell me to contact the sales representative and speak with him about the situation, are you serious? The typical bait and switch.

I loved my purchasing experience with Empire Today. I went with them because they have a warehouse here so I knew they were established but now, they’re all over TV. I’m from Chicago and I was raised on their jingle. I also had a wonderful salesman, and I was the one that gave them a hard time because I didn’t want to pay the money upfront. That’s the only negative thing about them. Everyone I talked to, even the lawyer, said it’s usually half down and I guess, they got burned.
The installers were fantastic. Everyone I’ve talked to who’s installed the floor always say you have to buy new molding. I have a very unique molding here where I live. It’s very Art Deco. The edges of the walls curve, so the molding curves. And I said to the salesman, “You know, I want my molding.” And he says, “Oh yeah, well if it breaks, they’ll repair it.” The installers didn't break it and it came out so easy and looked so beautiful.
I was also so afraid I was going to get bummed out. What if they take off and leave and they got my check? When I spoke to the salesman, I said, “Will the boxes be inside the garage?” He said yes. I said, “I want those boxes in my garage.” And then they opened the box in the driveway and brought one panel in the garage for me to okay it. So overall I’d recommend Empire Today to others. But I’ll tell them that they have to pay upfront. Other than that, the floor is fantastic and my allergies went away.

I had a laminate flooring in my family room installed by Empire Today and I'm not pleased with the installers who did it. They didn't seem to lock it tight. They told me, "Well, don't get it wet because it'll expand." When I see on HHG how they install it, it doesn't look like it should be that way. They zapped it in and didn't tap it to lock it in. And also, they didn't tap in on the quarter inch rail, the nail holes or the nails around. On the ends, where they had to cut off, they said, "Well, why don't you go out and buy the coloring to clean up the end pieces." They didn't even mark the colorings so I'm very disappointed in it.
I tried to get a hold of my representative but failed. I'm still supposed to get more flooring put in and laminate in my kitchen and living room but I'm very disappointed in this and if this is the way it's going to look, I don't want it. The guys asked for a tip and one kid said "I haven't worked in a month and I'm running out of cigarettes." I didn't have extra money on me, so I gave him $4 because I feel sorry for him but I'm very dissatisfied.
One of Empire people called me and I didn't have time to talk to them so I gave them a better rating. But when I started looking at this floor, there's all these cracks and dirt is going to get down in there especially since I have a Collie that's got a lot of hair. And I said, "that's going to be hard to clean." I have a Swiffer but still that's not going to do the job and if dirt gets down in those cracks, it's going to be terrible.

He stated they do not contract out for help such as what Lowe's or Home Depot does. He also stated that as long as we picked up any loose objects off the floor and disconnected electronics, Empire would move furniture for us. Sounds great. We scheduled for them to install the carpet on a Tuesday. Tuesday rolls around and after I deconstructed my whole upstairs Empire did not show up. They didn't even call me to tell me that my carpet wasn't even delivered to the warehouse. So, we rescheduled for Friday. Friday rolls around and I deconstruct my upstairs. Lo and behold Empire fails to show up again. I had to call them again only for Customer Service to tell me my carpet was delayed for the second time.
So, we rescheduled for Saturday. Only this time I did not deconstruct my upstairs again as I had enough and expected Empire to assist. Saturday rolls around and they fail to show up during the 2 hour window they had quoted me on the phone. They show up 1.5 hours after my scheduled window and when they arrived they refused to help me move furniture or help me deconstruct my beds. Also, the installers were contracted out. We had Empire Today come out and install carpet in 3 bedrooms in our home. The installers were to move all of the furniture out of the bedrooms and replace it after the carpet was installed. The first part of that requirement went well - they moved everything out of the bedrooms to install the carpet. The second part, where they move everything back in and put it together, went about as poorly as it possibly could. It seemed like the work crew was late to another engagement and quickly threw everything back into whatever bedrooms they could find randomly; even after asking where things went. I decided moving a few things back wasn't a big deal, as long as the beds were put together and large furniture was in the right place.
Skip forward a few hours to me putting sheets on the bed. I realized my king size mattress was sideways on the bed, so I had to spin it around. When I did this, I realized the entire bed wobbled severely. I took the mattress off altogether and found that there were nuts, bolts, lock washers and a wooden bed slat just laying under the bed hidden. I started looking around the bed more and realized that the bolts that they did bother to put in the bed are "finger tight" at best. The footboard pulls away from side walls of the bed by about an inch. So, it would seem that the money I spent outsourcing the manual labor for this particular task was simply wasted and I'll be putting a bed back together, properly, myself. I would certainly not recommend Empire Today to anyone that doesn't wish to come behind people and complete tasks properly.

I had one of their best quality carpets with their best carpet padding, laminate tile and trimming installed. They did a horrible installation job on the wall trimming and the transition trimming. They did two different ways of installing the wall trimming between the carpet and the tile. The corners on the wall trimming were not even cut to the angles that they are suppose to be cut to. The transition trimming from the carpet to the tile was even worse!
First of all they went to Home Depot and bought the cheapest trimming they could find. (When I buy top quality carpet, padding and tile I expect the trimming to be the same.) The transition trimming was also crooked and all the nails weren't even hammered all the way in! The nails they did get hammered in, they dented in the trimming! They also left a mess out in my yard where they were cutting the trimming! Then when I tried to get them back to fix all this they never showed or even called!! I wasted TWO Saturdays waiting for them to show and they never did! They are the worst company I have ever done business with!!

The two men that installed my hardwood floors were unprofessional, did a mediocre job, and made a huge mess that they didn't clean up. They cut everything inside my house, so I had to wash everything, even my walls, to get the sawdust off. They did not have enough product to complete the job on the first day, so they had to come back the next day. They said they would show up at 8:30am. At 8:30, the installer called and sad he was running behind and would show up at 9:30am. He finally showed up at 1pm and he showed up alone. Once finished, he barely cleaned up anything and didn't move back any of the furniture. Quite a few of the pieces have glue residue on them that has been a nightmare to get off and some of the pieces installed are damaged.
To make matters worse, I was overcharged, so I called the 800 number to get this resolved, not even to complain about the installation. The representative I spoke with said someone from that department would call me back within 24 hours, but no one did. Over the next week, I made three more calls to the 800 number and two calls to the specific representative that was provided after the installation was complete. I never received a callback from anyone! I then filled out the survey for the install and indicated that I wanted to be contacted, and still have not been contacted. Thankfully, I did finally get the money back after two weeks, but have never received a call about the overcharge or the poor installation conditions. I've had some poor customer service experiences before, but this is certainly the top one since customer service did absolutely nothing.

Our experience, like many others that we have read about, was not a good one. The salesman came to our home, gave us the estimates, and set up the installation date. So far so good. Then the trouble starts. Installation day comes and goes. We contacted ET and they said the tile we ordered was "oversold" and they didn't have the quantity to do our job. They would get some in asap.
About 3 weeks later, we get tile. Then our installers had to travel over 3 hours one way to get to our house. They did the demo and then tried to tell us we needed to buy some material to "float" the floor. We did not pay extra for this as the salesman had said everything was included to make the floor level. So, the tile starts to get laid and is looking really nice. First two rows, the installer slides a cup the length of the floor and it slid perfectly. Now if the rest of the install went this good, I wouldn't be writing this.
The rest of the floor is unlevel, trip hazards and uneven grout lines. Even nonexistent grout lines. There are hollow tiles also. We called ET and they sent out an inspector that did not speak English. They did send an interpreter but this has been over a month ago and we haven't heard anything from them. They have our money so I guess they just don't care after that. I wish I would have read the reviews BEFORE we decided to go with them.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. The company demands money up front before the install. In my case, they did not come with enough carpet yet wanted the full payment before they would install the carpet. The installers blamed the sales person for the wrong measures. As a consumer, I was left with no answers or no carpet. I asked the installer's to install the 2 rooms they had carpet for and I left for an appointment. The installers left shortly after and did not install it nor did they call me to discuss what was happening or when it would be rescheduled.
I had to sit on hold for over an hour with 1-800-588-2300 to get the next installation date confirmed. I received no apology or phone call of any sort. I was just told "We are empire today and that's the way it works.” (Joe **, Empire Employee **). As an Atlanta Kitchen and Bath Designer, I would highly recommend against using this company. No company should get paid upfront for items that are not delivered. In addition, customer service should be a basic element to any company. Unfortunately Empire Today lacks both.

Jordan came out to the house last night and wrote a bunch of chicken scratch down on the back of the "Pricing Worksheet". Did not have the samples I asked for on the phone when I set up the visit. Told me I needed 47 cartons to cover the area and said it would be $22,230 but they were having a 50% off sale as advertised and that it would only be $13,655. I'm not a math wizard but half of 22 is 11? I got an "urgent message" from the "Offer Team" so I scanned the sheet of paper with the chicken scratch and told them I had no clue what any of it meant. Needless to say, they never replied.
I called the "Offer Team" and spoke to two different call takers, neither of which had a clue. One told me 47 cartons is about 1,000 sf. So I asked her why it was $22.23 a sf and she had no clue but told me they messed and can do it for much less at $12,000 by her calculations which would be $24,000 at full price. She got confused when I told her that was more. I can do what I'm trying to for about half of their 50% offer at the competitors full price.

Now the vinyl is cracking and getting wear holes because it is so soft and cannot withstand normal kitchen usage. My husband and I are senior citizens, we have no small children and don't wear stiletto heels! I have lived in homes where vinyl lasted 15-20 years. This vinyl is not even making it to three years! Even though Empire advertises lifetime warranties on the products it sells, they have informed me that because they no longer carry this pattern. They can't do anything about this situation. Call him, he won't be able to get to house for another 45 minutes. Had to go back to work so scheduled a 6pm appt. 6pm sales rep gets to house, takes pictures of carpet and discuss missing item from daughter's room. Nothing he can do but contact his managers. Asked for a breakdown of each room. Still no 4 room carpet.
11/14 Email from sales rep stating he sent out an email to all managers at Empire Regional and I should hear from someone by Monday. 11/17 Sent email to sales rep informing I haven't heard from anyone. Asked again for a breakdown of each room. That evening get breakdown from sales rep. Come to find out the 4th room of carpet that I wasn't paying for until I received it was actually $ 2076.20 not $1180.08. Still no 4th room carpet.
11/18 Called customer service number @ 8:12 am, spoke with Sarah at 8:20 am, explained situation. Kathy gets on the phone and tells me the carpet is in and when did I want it installed? Seriously? Why did I just talk to Sarah? I again explain to Kathy I don't want Empire carpet in my house and I want my money refunded for the carpet I didn't receive.
After 138 minutes on the phone with Empire and being told I didn't pay for the 4th room carpet, that carpet was special order (never told it was special order and not marked special order on the forms) explaining how much was owed me, I finally was told a refund of $1041.45 would be sent out in 7-10 days. 11/19 Get an Email asking how I like my carpet from Reece **, customer support specialist. Send Reece a long email about how unhappy I am and what a terrible experience this has been. Never got a response. Although it states if I have any concerns to contact.
12/3 Melissa from customer service tells me the refund was sent back today and didn't go out because it was for the wrong amount. I asked her how much it was for and she believed it was for $1180.08. So, not only was my disappointment with my carpet ignored, the missing item from my daughter's room ignored, that fact that I paid for carpet I never got and was led to believe I wasn't paying for but now my refund doesn't get sent out and Empire doesn't notify me and I have no idea when to expect it.

I first of all want to say that in 2010 we had our entire 1875 sq. foot house outfitted with ceramic tile. This was a large purchase and was completely satisfied. I use to refer people to Empire Flooring. In September of this year, we decide to re-carpet our upstairs bonus room and stairs. This was a small job. We picked out a special order style of carpet with the understanding it would be two weeks before an install date could be made. Within that initial two weeks, I was contacted twice with an install date. The first date 9/22/15, I took vacation off of work to accommodate the install. The second time 10/8/15, I had to take a personal day. The excuse I was given both times was "well, it's a special order carpet and we will call you when it comes in." Why did you schedule the install if the carpet was not available??
We finally got a good install date of 10/12/15. The crew came out, removed the old carpet and began installing the new carpet. Problem is they didn’t bring enough carpet to finish the job. They left my stairs exposed with nails sticking up. Why would you start a job if you don’t have all the resources? The carpet that was purchased is no longer available and cannot be ordered. The sales guy had to come back out and let us pick a new style of carpet. Again, we did pick a special order carpet with an understanding of a two week window for getting it in. Unsure if we picked cheaper carpet than what we paid for originally or which is more expensive. I found out from a representative after a week of no contact that the sales guy waited four days to turn in the order. It took four weeks to get the carpet in.
On November 11th, the installers came out with the new carpet for the install. They were nice and came ready to work. Well, two days after the install, we find one of the seams on the stairs popped. Further visual inspection appeared the piece was not cut long enough and was attempted to be stretched. There are also places on the stairs where the carpet is not tight around the edges and showing frays. Empire sent out another installer to inspect the situation. He agreed that a piece of carpet would need to be ordered to fix the one issue and he would clean up the other areas once the new carpet arrived.
I spoke with the Empire representative the same day and was told a new piece would be ordered. It has now been five days without any updates. I have had to reach out to Empire 95% of the time just to either find out that I don't have an install date or what the status of the current order is. I've also spoken with a sales manager in Chicago and got nowhere. Empire has lost all control of their operations. They do not know who is working on what and does not follow up with their customers to ensure everything is in order. I will NOT be using Empire flooring in the future. They have proven multiple times they do not care about their employees or their customers. Buyers beware.

We purchased our carpet from Empire 2 years ago for our bedrooms. The salesman who came to our home was very confident when he promised we would be happy with our carpet that came with a lifetime warranty. I noticed a few months ago our carpet is looking very worn down, areas that we walk on are obviously smashed down and frazzled, parts are clumping together and it is beginning to look like it will need to be replaced. The carpet is in our home where only my husband and I live with our toddler and we take very good care of it, we don't wear shoes inside, I vacuum at least once a week with a Dyson vacuum, there are no stains or any other damage other than it looks very worn down in the places we walk.
I contacted Empire's customer service line and after a few weeks of playing phone tag with a service representative who seems to never answer her phone, I sent an email with photos of our carpet. The representative called me and told me that the way the carpet looks is "natural texture" and not included in the warranty. She did offer us a discounted rate if we wanted to pay to replace the carpet. This is very frustrating! I don't think it's fair that Empire is selling carpet promising high quality and a lifetime guarantee and not standing by its guarantee.
It's obvious that the carpet is beginning to fall apart but I don't want to pay for new carpet that we just replaced 2 years ago with a carpet that is supposed to last a lifetime. We are a new family with a toddler and our second baby on the way and it's not reasonable to change our carpet every 2 years. I asked to speak with a manager and the representative said she was a manager and there was nothing more we could do. This is very disappointing service and I'm so dissatisfied I will continue spreading the word to friends and family and social media about my experience with Empire's quality and customer service.

We ordered carpeting for a foyer and living room. The salesperson was nice and fairly prompt and not very pushy. The carpeting was for my elderly aunt (89 yrs. old) living in Brooklyn NY who is about an hour and a half away from me. The carpet was either to be glued down if possible or put down with padding if that wasn't possible. These instructions were explicitly written on the sales form. I was told that since it was a small Job we would probably be looking at an afternoon installation and to call the morning of the installation and the dispatcher could give me a smaller window than approximately 6 am to 8 pm. I called that morning and was giving the script answer that if the installer wasn't there by 10:30 to call again. I explained I was coming from over an hour away and would need some lead time.
After going back and forth a few times with the scripted answers I asked for a supervisor and I was told that he would call the installer directly and tell him to call me when he got to the job BEFORE mine, give me a time estimate and I would meet him there. This sounded great except it didn't happen. The installer calls me at about 1:00 pm and tells me he is in front of my aunt's house. He said he never was called and told to get in touch with me when he arrived at the job before mine. I told him to go to his next job and then come back to my aunt's house. He said OK and that that job should take 2-3 hours and we could meet at my aunt's after that. Although I was annoyed that someone dropped the ball and would call to find out how things weren't terrible yet. I called my elderly aunt and told her it would be a few more hours, but not to worry. She wasn't thrilled.
I called Empire and asked what happened. Why didn't the installer know to call me from the job before mine. I was told he was called and they left him a voice message that he mustn't have picked up... Are they kidding me! Next thing I know the installer calls me again asking why I just called Empire, he was a bit pissed, saying that will affect his relationship with them, etc. I tried to explain that I needed to know why they said they called him and what went awry, but he wasn't too happy. We agreed to meet between 4 and 5 pm. I call him when I was about a half hour away and he now tells me it will be many more hours, maybe another 2-3 hours. I wasn't happy at all. I get to my aunt's house and she is tired as she had just come out of the hospital 3 weeks prior after having a heart attack. 8:00 pm rolls around and I call him, he says he will be leaving the other job in 10 minutes, but suggests doing the installation the next day.
I say no and he says he will be there soon. Soon turned into 9:15. My aunt falls asleep and has to be woken up when he finally shows up. If that wasn't bad enough, after 15 minutes of looking at the job he tells me he can't do the job!! He said he can't glue it down. I told him to look at the invoice where it says to use padding if it can't be glued. He sees it and says he doesn't have padding because the warehouse didn't give him any for the job. OMG... Are they kidding me! After 45 minutes on the phone with customer service (I recorded some of these calls) nothing could be done and we reschedule after I wasted my whole afternoon and evening and still had to drive home on a Saturday night (another 1 1/2 hours). We reschedule for another Saturday and I made it abundantly clear to Empire that I wanted to be the first install around 8:30 am.
After arguing with numerous people and agreed to my being first and it should be around that time within an hour. OK Fine. I explain about the need for padding again and they assure me "no problem". I call them that morning to confirm the time, my being first and the padding. I also asked the representative to call the warehouse and the driver to confirm his having padding and she says she will. I get a call from the new installer and we meet at the house around 8:30. BUT HE DOESN'T HAVE PADDING!!!
He said the warehouse said it was a glue down job and didn't give him padding. I ask if he had gotten the call earlier before he left the warehouse about the padding and he said he had gotten it but he was already at his FIRST STOP by the time he got it!!! He said I was the second stop!!! I WAS READY TO EXPLODE!!! After nearly an hour on the phone Empire agrees to let him use the padding from another job and go to Home Depot later to get more. I was furious!!! I spoke to Empire and they were annoyed with me. Imagine that!!! So Unprofessional!!!

I ordered carpeting for two rooms, a 4' x 4' square of hardwood for an entryway and wall base board for those rooms a month before my first scheduled installation. When the day came for installation on a Monday the pad for the carpet was not available so I was rescheduled for Wednesday. On Wednesday they came out and they did not have enough carpet because based of the original drawings from the salesman the amount of carpet they came with would end up with several more seams than necessary. So again I rescheduled for that Friday. On Friday they came out and AGAIN there was not enough carpet but we went ahead with the wood installation only to find out that they would have to come back after the carpet as well since apparently the carpet people don't do baseboard installation.
So today (Saturday), they came out and actually had enough carpet this time. The base board was then supposed to be installed after but no surprise something else went wrong with the communication at this company and now I will have to wait until next week because I can't take any more days off work. 5 days is completely unreasonable for getting such a simple job done and to ask for me to be available from 8 to 6 for that many days is absurd.
Though the product that has been installed has been fine, I am incredibly disappointed with how this order is going and would definitely not recommend. The installers seem to be the only one at this company capable of doing their jobs. The scheduling and communication between the sales, hardwood installation, and carpet installation is non-existent and the fact that I have to relay information between each the different installers shows a major disconnect in this company. If I could give a 0 star review for my experience I would.

We have purchased and been happy with the wood flooring in 2 of our homes from Empire Today. We then trusted them to order plantation shutters for our new home. They assured us we would have them in time for Thanksgiving. Our original install date was 11-20. When the date passed we called them (not them calling us!) to find out the new date. Three different people; customer service, a supervisor and the rep all then assured us they would be installed by 11/27 (the day AFTER Thanksgiving!) That day is today and no shutters OR communication. We have, again called numerous times (not them contacting us), only to find out, finally, that they have not even been received by them!! And no date estimated as to when we will get them. NEVER order window treatments from Empire Today!! Terrible communication, no follow through and lousy customer service. Should be re-named "Empire Never".
Thank you for bringing your experience to our attention. We understand your frustration that your installation has not yet been completed, and we will be following up with you shortly to discuss the situation. Thank you. Bill Allivato, National Customer Service Manager

Buyer beware: I will never buy from this company again which is quite unfortunate. I would have liked to have gotten matching carpet in other rooms but I guess that won't happen now. When the guys came out to put in my lvp they told me I had a lot of staples under the current linoleum and I should just have it put over top instead of having the old floor removed first. I didn't want to do that. I was charged for the old floor being removed in the original contract $989. He told me I would receive a credit for about $1000. I then received a phone call from the Empire 1800 number. Said his name was Craig. Told me same thing while the installers were standing in my kitchen. They left the product in front entry and said to call him and let him know what I decided and they would come back in morning.
After discussing it with my husband, we reluctantly agreed to just have it put over top of the old floor and expected to get a credit on the credit card we used to finance the project. There was no credit after a few days so I called the next week and asked about it. They said I would get a call early the next week. On the next Wednesday I got a message saying I would get $45 back. Doesn't sound right. I called back the next day. Was on hold for 20 minutes. Finally got to speak to Orlando. He put me on hold several times. Said he talked to salesman and he said he charged us $3 a sq ft not .25 that they were refunding. Told me Marla would call me. Said he told her it was urgent since I have already been trying to figure this out long enough. I asked for a copy of invoice mailed to me, emailed to me. He gives me confirmation number... It has been 2 weeks now, no emails, no invoice.
The salesman called me the next day. Left message saying he doesn't know how much anything cost and can't tell me anything. No one else calls me. I call back 3 days later. Talk to Mario after being on hold for 20 minutes. He tells me he has to call the market. They are not answering and he is leaving a message for them. He tells me someone from there will call me. I ask for an extension number or something so I can call myself. He says no, he is the interface. I'm wondering what the customer service is even for at this point since they always tell me someone will call back. NO ONE CALLS AGAIN!!
I wait a few more days. Call again. Get Joselyn this time. On hold for 15-20 minutes. She says Andrea will call me back. I say, "No way. I want to know what is going on." She yells at me that the installer should not have told me an amount back and says this Craig person (her words, this Craig person) shouldn't have told me that either and they are trying to talk to them and see what to do. I tell her, "It doesn't matter. I made an agreement with someone in the company on cost and why am I being charged for a job that wasn't done?" She gives me an extension for Andrea. I give her an hour to call me. She doesn't so I try extension.
I just get a foreign language speaking back to me, obviously extensions are not meant to be used with 800 number. I wait for customer service and they put me through to extension. Of course I get voice mail, and her mail box is full. It's been almost another week, I am still waiting for her to call me... I have called the credit card company that I am using to finance this and they said they would try to resolve it on my behalf. As far as the product, I'm not sure how I feel about the lvp. It seems cheap to me. They left my baseboards a mess, left pencil marks all over everything and did not fill in between the wall and the waterlines to the toilets. There is just a hole there all the way to the wall!! I would like to have someone come out to fix that but am a little nervous to try to bother with it!
The customer service I have received has been horrendous!! I don't know how these people can work there. They should be embarrassed!! I definitely regret using this company! I have learned my lesson I guess. I will read a thousand reviews before ever making a large purchase like this again! My floor was put in on the 30th of October and it is now November 26th and I still haven't even gotten the $45 credit that Joe said I would get. Oh, and the card was charged an extra $200 over what the contract says it would be charged!! I wonder why. I guess I have to call on Friday and see if they can have someone call me back about that one.

Our Salesman, Dominick, couldn't have been sweeter. He assured my husband that the installers were "very professional". However, after we signed to have carpet installed in our living room and hallway, the drama began! Two installers showed up in an unmarked vehicle, no I.D., no paperwork. They began by taking my new leather couches & throwing one on top of the other (damaging the leg of one). Then they tied my drapes in knots to get them off the floor! They were using the old tacks from the old carpet when we were promised new. They took the padding and laid it out on the street in front of my house to cut it!
Do you want a huge pad that has been laid out all over the street then brought in your house? When my husband voiced concern, they, without a word picked up their tools & left... no conversation, no explanation. I, then, "tried" to call customer service and was give a run around for more than an hour! No one seemed really concerned. Today, a new crew is coming back to, hopefully, "fix things". We'll see. In addition one of them used my bathroom, w/o permission, peed on the floor & did not flush! I would never use this company ever!

We had Empire install carpet in two rooms and up the stairs. When we had a warranty issue, we called the company. After 20 minutes on hold, they answered and gave us a date when they would come. Not a time window, just a date. On that date, they called and said we'll come at X time, which conflicted with an unexpected doctor appointment. So we cancelled.
Next day, another call, another 20 minutes on hold. Same story - they can give us a date, not a time, not even a time window. Just "we'll call." My wife said that doesn't work for us - can't you at least give us a window. Finally, after consulting a supervisor, we got a time: 8:30 in the morning. At 11:30 we called again and got a boatload of excuses on why they weren't there. Oh, but now that you've waited all morning, they can tell you they will come for sure between 1 and 4. So even when they reluctantly give you a window, they don't meet it. Poor customer service. They just don't get customer service.

Everything with Empire Today went well. They were polite and were well-mannered. However, I want to get the color that I asked for. I got musk when I had put down mink on my piece of paper. I was so sure it was mink. They sent an email or a fax to my son's house, and I wrote it down plus the amount. I don't know how I would write mink compared to musk. I don't even like the name musk and I feel it's mud. I hope I could see the sample board that they brought. It's still beautiful carpeting though. I would recommend it to friend. In fact, a lady across the street will be back in January.

We had tile installed a month ago. The installers left behind a mess in the showers and on the walls of the three rooms they were doing. The next day we saw that the tile was cracked in two of the rooms and we contacted the warranty department and it has taken us till today the 23rd to get the tile fixed. We have spent weeks sending pictures and making phone calls and getting the run around only to have them make an appointment then change the date and then they show up today and try to say that they only have the order to fix the bathroom.
I said no way, it has always been both places and they are suppose to fix our transition that was cut incorrectly and they are saying they were not told to fix that and they don't have the part. They don't do the transitions, that is someone. The saleslady and the carpet installers were great but I have nothing good to say about the tile installers. I will not recommend Empire Today for tile. We are very disappointed in the service we have received for our tile installation.

I had to call back 4 hours later to find out no cancellations. Asked what kind of compensation I would get and they told me to ask the installer when they got there.
Talked to the guy who sold me the carpet on Monday, said he would get back to me. Have yet to hear back from him. Carpet was installed Saturday, 2 gentlemen did a great job. No compensation on what I owed when I paid the bill. The salesman wanted us to install the carpet the next day, said warehouse had all carpets. I am beyond upset I had purchased carpet and tile for my house. I scheduled installation for Thursday and Friday. Thursday no one called to tell me that the installation date had been changed, so I had to wait until Friday. Friday arrived and the installers were awesome. Only problem was there was no carpet for one of the bedrooms, so when I called the lady representative I originally spoke to was so rude, told me complaining didn't help, I just need to find a new date so I refuse to talk to her. She got the salesman that sold me the carpet on the phone who apologized for her behavior. He attempted to make things calmer and said the installers would take care of us Friday but we had to reschedule for the other room to be completed. I complained that someone should have told me so that me or hubby could figure out work schedules, so he explained that carpet would be in on Saturday and they would wrap everything up on Sunday.
Now Sunday created a work schedule issue for me and hubby but we dealt with the decision and made preparation to be available on Sunday. Oh and I was told we would be priority and if I had any other problems to call him. Sunday comes undamaged and after several hours of waiting I contacted customer service to see what was the hold up and if we could get a time frame since this is what I was informed through the confirmation email that was sent out on October 19 and 20th. The representative attempted to call installer but was unable to reach him, so I had to just wait. I attempted to call the salesman like he said but he never called me back. After waiting several more hours, it was getting closer to me needing to be at work so I called again, representatives attempted to call installer again, no response. This time representative said installer had until 6pm to come, so I called for my husband to relieve me.
At 5:48pm, I called Empire back to asked if installer was still coming, she again attempted to call with no response. At this point there was nothing left I could do. Just beyond frustrated because I am not able to take off anymore and my husband's job is very rigid so he will have to take off and receive a discipline report. Oh and I have family arriving tonight for Holiday and the room they were suppose to sleep in is completely empty and bed broken down, furniture everywhere in my recreation room. I just wanna cry. At this moment I am just over it. If I could cancel I would but it is impossible at this moment. Thanks Empire... Happy Holiday.

My wife called Empire for replacement carpet in our family room, stairs, and upstairs landing/hallway area. At least the salesman arrived on time for his appointment. After she agreed to a $3300.00 with a change order to bring the price to $1900.00, odd but that is how they do discounting? Appointment for installation was set before the salesman left with her $200.00 deposit, for the following Tuesday before noon... Well that did not happen.
Installer called and said was the last job of the day and would be there between 3-4 pm. At 4:45 pm I called the installer on his cell phone. He said they had a tough install and would call after 5 pm. I then called the installation department, and they told me that there was no way that my install will take place as it was too late to start another one. Hence the installer lied to me, as he knew he would not be coming to do the install. Called the install department back, they arranged to do the install the following Friday, and agreed to be the first install of the day.
On Thursday, I get a call from the install department saying that they don't have enough installers for Friday, and could they reschedule for 1st thing Saturday morning. I agreed to this to get it done, but when I had no call no show on Saturday, I again called the install department to inquire as to when or if an install would happen. When I asked what percentage chance there was of an install happening today (Saturday) the install manager said zero percent. I am so done with this company. I gave one star since there is no way to give less! Do yourself a favor and never fall for this company's BS.

I got carpet and some flooring in our bathrooms. Minor issues when they were installing the flooring but all was made right and the installers even helped out by fixing a part of the floor near the bathtub that rotted. All in all the installation went well. Not even 1 year later as I was vacuuming and I realized the carpet was separating in a section. Just a straight line ripped like a seam. Not only there but upstairs it's in a spot, it was doing the same thing. We called Empire and after a wait they sent an inspector out. Then after another wait finally they agree to come out and replace all of the carpet. I thought wow, what great service.
Then we get to now. Not even a year later and the carpet is doing the same thing again near the same area it did the first time. Wow this sucks, but let's call Empire. After an even longer wait the inspector came out. Then after another wait we get the call that the inspector found dog urine at the location of the tear and that the urine caused it to rip. So to get this right they are trying to tell me that the carpet is tearing the exact same way it did the first time they had to come out and replace it, but this time they found dog urine at the area so that must be the cause of the carpet ripping.
Needless to say I am very disappointed. I have a lot of tile downstairs that I was planning to get replaced with wood flooring and after the great service the first time around I was planning on using no one else besides Empire. But instead I am going to have to go thru arbitration to get them to fix their defaulting carpet they sold me. Would not recommend if you have animals to go through Empire. Their carpet cannot stand up to urine.

I signed a contract to have a laminate flooring installed by Empire Today. The worst experience I ever had with a company. The installation was scheduled on October 16, 2015. On that date, the installers were unable to conclude the job because some of the laminate boxes were damaged. As agreed, they would conclude the installation on October 17, 2015.
However, the timing did not work and was re-scheduled for October 18, 2015. On said date, another installer showed up at my house to conclude the job. At the time he concluded the installation, I noticed that the laminate he installed was too short and the baseboard would fall in between the wall and the laminate. The installer acknowledged the issue and replaced the pieces he cut too short. As I reviewed the rest of the house, there were other pieces too short. I addressed the issue with him. However, he responded that he was sent just to complete the installation and that he did not install the other areas. He called his "boss," but the call went to his voicemail. I made a notation of the issue on the Certificate of Completion.
In an attempt to have the issue resolved, I made numerous calls to (800) 588-2300, spoke to different people, who placed me on hold for long periods of time while they tried to contact someone from the installation department, but they never reached someone and nothing was resolved. I received a reference number, which did not help at all. After many phone calls, Mr. **, Installer Coordinator, contacted me and indicated that he would take care of the issue... Still waiting...
Once again, I continued making numerous calls to (800) 588-2300. On November 4, 2015, I was told that Ms. **, Resolution Specialist, was going to contact me, but she did not, instead Mr. ** called me. Ever since, I have e-mailed him pictures, sent him e-mails, and made phone calls. Finally, we scheduled an appointment for the installers to make the needed repairs on November 17, 2015. According to Mr. **, the installers would call me prior to arrival on said date. I am still waiting... I will NEVER use this company again and for sure I would NEVER recommend it. For the contrary I WILL spread the word of how unprofessional they are.
HI Luz, we never want our customers to be disappointed in the work that’s done in their homes, and we regret that your concerns have not yet been addressed. We can assure you that we are taking this matter seriously, and we will be contacting you shortly to help make things right. Thank you.
