    Several years ago we bought carpet from this company. Just one week after the warranty ran out our carpet got a run in it that went the entire width of the room. OK our problem. At the same time we had CERAMIC TILE installed in our master bathroom. This was to be our lifetime floor. We were sold ceramic tile. It was very expensive. In the last two weeks the covering, for lack of a better word, started to come off in several places. Upon examination we found that it was not ceramic tile. It is pressed wood or something similar. This to me is fraud, misrepresentation, false advertising and just downright lying! Something needs to be done so other people aren't misled or lied to as we were! I wouldn't be writing to you, but I found no phone number on their site.

    Installers apparently didn't have enough material. They had to use patches of carpet to complete one room. 4 patches. Also carpet quality installed in adjacent room worse than previous builder grade carpet. Had someone come out after initial complaint to "look" at the issues 4weeks ago. Was supposed to get a callback, never did. Called 2 weeks ago to check in, was told area manager would call me. Never did.

    I have 1200 sq ft to be carpeted. They quoted $9,000 then discounted to $4800. I asked how much the carpet was per square foot and was told they do not sell carpet by the square foot! The same carpet at Floorz is $3900. So Empire inflates the price so they can offer a great discount. Buyer beware.

    We purchased scratch resistant flooring. Within days the floor was showing scratches and scuffs. We had a difficult time contacting the customer service department. After several attempts we finally managed a name and number from our salesperson, who to this day still claims they sell the floor as scratch resistant. They sent someone out from the company to investigate the floor and repair some minor issues with the carpet. The gentleman took pictures, fixed the carpets to the best of his ability and indeed told us that the floor shouldn't be scratching as it was, and that someone from Empire would contact us. After a couple of weeks and no contact we called back and there was no record of having anyone out.

    They did finally discovered the mistake and told us the ticket was closed and there was nothing they could do because he stated my floor was not scratch resistant, which led the girl in the office to tell us we did not buy a scratch resistant floor. We again checked with our salesperson, he confirmed they sell it as scratch resistant, as it states on the website, so keep pursuing. Finally a third party inspection was offered. The report stated not only was the floor not performing, that it was laid incorrectly. We were offered 20% refund to keep the floor. Being unacceptable and now not trusting the company or employees we have asked for our money back. They responded with a 50% refund to just keep the floor. Since we have to put down an entire new floor, this is not acceptable.

    After giving poor reviews on their webpage, yelp, google a regional employee called. Said she was aware of the situation and could I please stop with my posts. She has come back with what we want, but in the wrong order. They are willing to refund my money only after they take out their product. Which leaves me with concrete and less than what I started when I began this transaction. I would like the refunds, and when I have new floors laid they may have their product returned so I am a little less inconvenienced. I have very little faith they will be careful with my belongings when they remove the product. On another issue is the way they offer promotions. We went on buy one room get one room, but when asked for a breakdown they were unable to provide that information.. Which leads me to believe it's obviously just a gimmick.

    Now, I was completely happy with my purchase, the sales rep, the installers but absolutely turned 100% dissatisfied in having to deal with their customer service representatives. I think this company should be investigated and held accountable for any wrongdoing.

    The carpeting was excellent. The tile seemed very good until the tile became loose and the grout began to break apart. I called to report the problem and was told I would receive a call within 24 hours. It is now 48 hours and I am still without a call. Looks like I'll have to contact the bbb with a complaint.

    The price is better with Empire Today and they were more personable unlike Home Depot where it's strictly on phone. It's why I chose Empire Today. They did a very excellent job and I'm really happy with it. They put in a vinyl flooring. I like its design because it's like an imitation of ceramic and it turned out nice. However, the molding that goes around the edges that is glued to the concrete wall is coming down. It needs to be glued.

    I bought carpet and kitchen flooring in the fall of 2014 and the carpet is buckling. The install from the get go was bad with the carpet people and I informed Empire of it several times and they still let them complete the bad job... Well in December I called customer service and she said someone would get back to me, "Lindsay" I think her name is finally left me a message saying that if I could get in touch with her we could discuss the price of repair "REALLY" and I have tried to get back with her but it's a no go, she hasn't answered! Why should I pay for something that was bad from the start? I didn't hire these people to do this job. They did and they were very disrespectful and one of them just went and used my bathroom without even asking. Very upset with this company, I will never use them again!!!

    On 12/14/16, a contractor arrived at my home to install carpet throughout. Let me begin by saying that I am a cancer patient and am more of a hindrance than help. Empire's contractor arrived on time and the three men who came to install the carpet, did so in the most courteous and professional manner I have ever observed. They worked harder than anyone I have witnessed, were obliging and were at my home most of the day (it was a rather large job). Other than Servpro who recently came to assist with a water issue, this contractor was the best, undeniably.

    After nearly 30 days (impatient me), I noticed that a seam was still obvious and another area was "shedding". I phoned Empire and they scheduled a follow-up from the contractor, who arrived at my home, once again, after a confirmation call and on time. It turned out to be a little anxiety and all is well. The contractor was very obliging again. They assured me that if there are any concerns in the future, Empire will schedule them to come out again. I am so pleased and confident in their service. Because of this contractor, I will call Empire and ask for the same contractor when I have my kitchen and two baths serviced (tile or other hard floor).

    The only issue I have, is with Empire. I never got a follow-up call from Empire to check on the work completed and when I called with my concern, it was all too easy for the representative to place blame. I'm sure she just wanted to convey her understanding; however, "sometimes they are in a hurry to leave to another job" is not at all what I wanted to hear. Kudos that Empire stands behind their work and quality carpets but shame on whoever trained this person. It is not now, nor ever, acceptable that the contractor be put in a bad light.

    The long and short of it: I received a quality product, the installation was fluid, no complaints, no breaks, no negative experience with the installer either. I am pleased! Will I return to Empire Today? Absolutely! I would say from the salesperson (five stars), to the installer (five stars, can we add more, please) and Empire Today's response to my inquiry and concern (five stars). I will come back with more orders and have recommended Empire to coworkers and others who were willing to listen to my wonderful experience. Let's not forget the pricing...

    Worse customer service I have ever experienced in my 60 plus years on this earth. The salesman was rude, nasty, disrespectful and argumentative. He did not want to measure the 6 offices I needed carpeted. He said he wasn't supposed to measure. How does empire give an estimate without measuring? He left no samples, he showed us not a single sample. He said I could not see the sample on the website because it was a commercial carpet so he reluctantly gave me an estimate and told me that he shouldn't. Even if I wanted to buy from Empire I could not because I have no idea what he was quoting, a clear opportunity for a bait and switch tactic.

    Anyway I measured the office which took 5 minute (tip to salesman count the ceiling tiles 2 x 4 or 2 x 2, duh) then went to Home Depot and they was almost 3000 dollars cheaper with a premium commercial carpet at 1.95 s.f. They actually had some starting at 1.08 s.f. My advice is for consumers to shop 2 to 3 prices before buying and don't waste your time with Empire. My advice to Empire is to contact me and I'll ID the salesman so they can rid their company of guys like this. In closing I'm thinking because it was Friday morning the salesman was looking to finish his day early and screw off the afternoon.

    I spend over 5k replacing the carpet in my entire home with this company. The carpet is beginning to fray at the seams, one room very bad. I called Empire and they sent a third party out to inspect the carpet, he said it was improperly installed and they didn't use the correct seam or one at all. Empire now says they won't cover because they only have a one year warranty, even though it was their installers that did the job. They don't have the carpet anymore and want to charge me to try and fix it. They use low end non-employee contractors to save money and they don't know how to properly install carpet (per my 3rd party inspector).

    The company has offered me no resolution, not even a $10 coupon... nothing. The customer service people don't return calls and are extremely insincere and could care less; probably because they are mistreated and underpaid. Use a local small mom and pop carpet or flooring company that stands behind their work and avoid this company at all cost! Tell your friends too as I'm going to tell everyone!

    We heard how good Empire does a work so we had them installed wood flooring. It's soft and they did an excellent job putting it into the entire dining, living room and down the hall. They put it in so that it'd match what we had in that extra room that was put on when this house was built. The three bedrooms we have were done with a carpet. It was a very good matting placed down, which is very important in putting a carpet, and it seemed like a real great job. Also, a salesman came over to our house and we liked what we saw, especially the half-off.

    The carpet guys were good. They had to move some really heavy stuff with sliders and did not cause any damage. Everything was done great and we gave them a tip we could afford. The mat and rug seemed to have good quality. The only thing that was said by my wife was she didn’t think it was down tight enough. She felt it should have been tighter and stretched a little bit more. She has a degree in interior design and is good when it comes to knowing how things were installed.

    I ordered laminate flooring for my home. The installers showed up on the day we agreed on, Saturday, and started to install the floor. The lead installer left me with 2 workers that didn't speak English. He then came back about 7 that evening and told us that they didn't bring the right color trim. The installer said he would be back on Monday afternoon to finish the job and since his truck was broken he left his trailer in my driveway. So I took a half day off from work to be here. The installer called me later in the day and told me he wouldn't be coming because his truck was still broken down. We called our salesman at this point and he assured us that a different installer would be here the following Saturday.

    About 11am on Saturday the installation office called and told us no one would be coming to finish our floors. The installer came back late Tuesday night and left boxes outside my door while ringing the doorbell and scaring the hell out of my wife. Then he left a message on my cellphone telling me he needed me to sign his ticket so that he could get paid. This is after he left his trailer in my driveway for 4 days. Now the salesman won't call us back, someone named Kevin called and left me a message about resolving the issues. I have called 3 times and left 2 messages and now he hasn't called me back after 2 days. I feel like they think they have my money and now I'm at their mercy. As far as I'm concerned I paid good money for this floor and they can come take it up. I'm not going to be screwed. For all Empire has put us through I don't know if I would even pay half for what they charged us.

    I had carpet installed April of 2013 and nothing went wrong with the install but when the sales rep came out he assured us that the carpet we were purchasing (20 year carpet) would hold up to looking like new for a long time. Well, here we are and problems are starting barely after a year. The carpet is matted down in many areas and looks like it's already at least 10 years old and where the seam is the carpet fibers are pulling away from the underlayment of the carpet itself. Naturally I called to have the issue resolved to only find headache and frustration from Empire. Initial call left off and they (Empire) would send out someone to assess the damage but would call me back to let me know what day.

    I didn't hear from anyone for a few days so I called and then was told someone would be out the following day but couldn't be given a time frame except for anywhere between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. but that they would call a couple hours out when they would arrive... Well no one showed up and 5:30 p.m. rolled around so I called Empire which they told me that they spoke with someone at my residence and told them that someone would come out between 4 p.m, and 7. Well unless you consider a voicemail to be a person that was a lie because no one spoke to them. Then when I was able to get someone to come out the following week that went fine. I was told that it was a product defect and it shouldn't look the way it looks currently. Which brings us to a couple weeks later and still no word from anyone about fixing the carpet so I called them back...again.

    Now I'm told that my claim has been closed because the matter was already fixed (it hadn't). So they reopened my claim and were supposed to call me back first thing this morning (they didn't call until late this afternoon) only to tell me that unless it had been within the first year would the problem have been covered so now I would have to pay a fee and the representative said I would be better off going to home depot but I'm not sure for what because I cut her off so that I could reiterate what she told me that I would have to pay a fee for a product defect and so here is where it lies, with no help from Empire Carpet.

    The salesman was professional and arrived on time. He was aware of our concerns with the floor product itself and the need for a durable material due to having a larger dog and three children. He encouraged us not to consider hardwood or bamboo as they are "soft and scratch very easily". We went with the product he suggested and one he was confident would withstand our busy life. We had been looking for flooring for a few weeks and have had laminate in the past. Being that I am undergoing treatment for breast cancer and limited with time and energy, we went with his suggested material and his reassurance that Empire Today has been in this business for decades and know their flooring.

    We also went with Empire's installation due to my husband's limited time to install the flooring himself. The installation process was great! The two gentlemen who completed the install were respectful, quick, and very professional with their work. Within days of having the flooring installed, we have scratches EVERYWHERE!!! We have laid rugs throughout much of the home where the laminate flooring was installed and are beyond disappointed at the results and lack of durability of the flooring. We feel as though we were duped and trusted this educated salesman, only to be left with less than adequate flooring. We understand that trusting a stranger is never a good idea and we definitely made a mistake with trusting the Empire Today employee who sold us the flooring.

    We will never again purchase from Empire Today. Clearly they are in the business of simply selling products, not customer satisfaction. Incredibly disappointed with the method of sales and product we purchased. From what we can tell in way of warranties, we are stuck with what we have. Buyers be aware. We have learned from this experience, just not in a positive way.

    The hardwood floors installed by Empire have so far met my expectations. I like its color and design. All my trim in my house is oak and it matches. The first estimate we got for three rooms was outrageous and they were also going to move my furniture from one room to the other. The salesperson guaranteed that the floor would be done in one day and they did, which the other brand didn't. It would take them 3-4 days. I have already recommended Empire to five people.

    Placed an order with Empire Today for window treatments on December 5th, 2015. The sales rep did the initial measurements of all the windows. On December 17th, an installer came out to measure again so that my treatments could be made. On January 12th, the installer came out and installed the treatments and they are not the correct length, you can see clear into the bathroom and one of the bedrooms with the blinds all the way down. The other blinds do not go completely to the bottom window seal, however the ones right next to them do.

    My blinds were custom made and are the wrong size. One of my blinds were made with the string on the wrong side, so now it's hanging in the middle of the window. The blinds were not checked by the company before installing to ensure the measurements were correct. The installer left the home before I could finish checking all the blinds. Plus, part of my order was back ordered which I should have been made aware of before the installation, not the day of. I called and left a voice mail for Bret to call me back, which he has not. I am very disappointed, especially since I paid a lot of money for blinds that were poorly made.

    I purchased carpeting from Empire Today. Other places were cheaper but Empire had the whole package included and it was almost about the same as Home Depot. I like the idea that when Empire came out, the guy had a lot of samples of carpet with him and we were able to look at it right there. It was very convenient and easier than having to go out and look and then bring pieces home. He was very good, thorough, and he measured. He also gave us a discount. We carpeted the whole house and have a really good padding. The only thing that we had to get used to is the carpet color because even though we picked it out, it is lighter than we expected but now that we've had it for a while, it looks good.

    Made an appointment to have someone come to our home to quote laminate flooring installation for last Thursday evening through the website. Received confirmation afterwards. My wife was told by a coworker the next day that she had a friend who also set up an appointment with Empire for carpet but was rescheduled several times and she finally gave up, which was a bit concerning but we hoped it was just a one time problem. The day of the appointment I received a call from the representative stating he had some scheduling issues and asked if he could come by earlier if he could arrange it. I told him it would be ok. He called later that afternoon and said he could not make it at all and could we reschedule for Monday (yesterday) evening and I again said ok. Today is Tuesday and we still have not heard ANYTHING from Empire. At this point, we no longer want to. Stay away people!

    I liked everything about Empire Today. I would use them again since I've already been there and know how it works. From the beginning, I didn't quite understand it. That's because the people that came to install the flooring wanted us to write them a check for the amount of the work, but I never paid anybody for the amount of the work before. If I hadn't been told about that before the stuff arrived, I would've been aware of what was going on. I was not aware of the way the sale thing worked and that's the only thing I didn't like.

    They need to explain to the customer when they come out to show you the material and stuff and then you make a decision that you want to get it. They tell you to pay $200 down, but all they ever mention is about the way you're going to pay. We told them we won’t pay cash. He could’ve had the check numbers and could've been checking our credit instead of waiting for those people to get here to put it in. Then, they said that they needed us to write a check for a certain amount, but we don’t really know why they want the check upfront.

    That’s when I said that first man should get that check so he’d have information that he needed to check out. I guess the young man called the bank and the check then was forwarded. This was going on the morning that he’s supposed to be doing the floor and I thought people don’t want to give him their money and he's got nothing. That's crazy, but they did a good job. I love the flooring and the people that put it in, and I would try them again.

    Empire Today’s cost and quality is slightly favorable compared to the other brands I considered. One overriding factor that made me choose them was the salesperson that we talked to. It was the same one that we had called a year ago, but we had decided not to do the carpet at that time, and we called the salesperson back. I have purchased a carpet from them back in 2002 for our home in Illinois, Chicago, and so I was already familiar with them before moving to the Cleveland area. In both instances, his customer service was really good. His knowledge of the product was excellent. He really made us feel comfortable with Empire.

    The installation team got it all done in one day. They stayed late, and were very conscientious about where we wanted the furniture. I’m a tough customer and they did a great job. The new flooring that we got, which is a whole house carpeting, has exceeded our expectations in both performance and feel. However, there are a couple of things that are still cropping up today, like fibers from around the edges where carpets were cut. We swept them up but they keep re-appearing. But other than that, it’s been fantastic. When a cat urinated on our carpet the urine dried out and had raised to the top instead of being soaked into the carpeting. In the old style carpeting it would never get out but with Empire after a quick couple of swipes with a Hoover steam cleaner it was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend Empire Today.

    Can't get a call back until I said I was going to the TV station and Brian ** called and seemed interested. We shall see Monday the 12th of Jan. All I wanted was a mgr. of sales and after two weeks I was told she left. What a crock. Now their holding the trim hostage. Heather the salesperson ordered white for a med honey vinyl and when asked what other color she developed hearing problems so white came. Now they want me to call them, for what so I can get another runaround?

    Had three people that were going to buy from here and one was doing the whole house, floors and windows forget it now. Was told 6,200 for a 13x13 sq. rm. and another that was bigger then she came down to 52 hundred when I could have had it done for 35 hundred with the same product and I listen to my "friends" cause they are cheaper. I got the shaft. (How about an undercover boss a CEO from embassy to see how the public and workers are treated.) Oh, that's right they don't care!

    Updated on 01/17/2016: Had two different fellows call since you're on the job. Now I have the molding down and a different color on two of the walls in the same small room. Guess he thought I would not see it. The installer left at 7 pm with a dim light in the room but, the next day it stuck out like a sore thumb. They keep promising me that the first installers would be back. No such thing yet. Called to let Brian know about the situation and asked for someone to come and look at the situation. Xaiver called me to say he was in charge and would call me the next day. WRONG. Have yet to hear from him. JUST WANT SOMEONE FROM THIS COMPANY TO SEE FOR THEMSELF. They have yet to answer my question on a 62 hundred dollar quote when others charge much less. Yes, this was my mistake of going with them and should have used the credit card. They would be holding their hand on their ** until the job is finished and done right.

    We shopped around a little bit before we chose Empire Today based on two things. A friend of mine is one of their sales reps so he was able to come over right away and give us the presentation. They also promised a next day install because originally we were going to install everything ourselves. However, there was a hiccup. We were promised a 24-hour install but it ended up being four days later. This was all for my dad and the older generation is a little more rigid in their ways. He was willing to go with the higher cost because there was a 24 to 48-hour install promise and when that didn’t happen, my dad cancelled the order.

    When we made the phone call, Empire Today was able to squeeze us in three to four days later and gave us a $300 discount. So they made right. There was miscommunication between the sales, the warehouse, and the install. But I like the way the laminate flooring looks. It's good quality and I would definitely recommend Empire Today.

    Empire Today did hardwood flooring, carpeting, and tile throughout the house. Compared to other brands, the cost was a bit more but we like the fact that they were really quick and a reputable company. The sales guy that came and worked with us was a decent person and gave a lot of good assurances. He gave us a wide range of product choices. We even went with the window treatments. We're getting the Roman shades as well throughout the whole house. It was about $1800 more expensive than the next guy, but it's worth paying for to have really good quality with a good guarantee. I was happy with the product.

    The installers were super professional and a great crew. They were a couple of brothers who work together, were good people, and were highly recommended. They did a great job not only in the demolition of the old floor and kept things in a relatively confined area, but laid the tile down real nice. It's just beautiful. The work is truly professional.

    I sat down with Empire Today's salesman, Sean and decided to go with their 50/50/50 deal for installation of laminate floors in my master bedroom and office. After researching several other local companies, I believe this 50/50/50 deal is a scam. My fault for not searching prior to going with this awful company. They were still more expensive than other quotes. With that said, the company arrived on a cold January 2016 day. Two of the three Mexican workers did not speak English. Therefore, it made it difficult to communicate at the onset. They kept leaving my front door open after asking them to close the door multiple times. In addition, the electric saw was just outside the front door and was extremely loud.

    After the work was nearly done, the English speaking worker came to me and said they did not have enough boards. I was flabbergasted. I immediately called Sean and he said, "I have some personal contacts and I will call you back." It has been several days and no one from Empire Today not even Sean has called me! Not one! Not even the salesman. This shows how much they DO NOT care about their customers and how they only care about getting their money. Today, I receive an automated appointment via email and that I am scheduled for completion this Saturday! I won't be here and it is a "noreply" email!

    Now, for their work. The quarter round work was awful. One section of quarter round came to a "point??!!" The transition boards were awful. There were gaps and overcuts. Here is what they did. They filled the transition board gaps with white caulk! Unbelievable! They left my bedroom door dirty with their black gloves and dirty hands. It was awful. Never ever use Empire Today due to their salesman's lack of professionalism and their workers, lack of English speaking workers and more importantly, the extremely poor craftsmanship. It just goes to show that companies like this boast about they have been in business for so many years and great customer service - NOT! NEVER AGAIN Empire Today! And, all of my facebook family and friends will know! I will use the power of social media!

    I will start off by saying that this is the first review I have ever written but felt obligated to warn anyone who was thinking of using this company. I had a salesman come to my house to give me a free home estimate. I will say that the salesman was extremely nice and accommodating. I showed him a piece of wood that I liked from Lowe's and he found the closest match he could find. When it came to pricing I was shocked when I was given the estimate of $2,600 with a 50% discount to put LAMINATE in my 291 Sq ft room. The salesman called his manager and I asked for the exact price of the item I was buying. He informed me that it is company policy not to tell the customer the price of the product because their price includes installation and warranty.

    I responded by saying that this is absolutely ridiculous because then I would have no idea of the quality of product that I am buying. The manager then said that he can tell me that the cost of the box of laminate and installation is $100. The manager told me there was no way he could go lower than $2,600 and considering that Lowe's had given me a quote for $1,300 for laminate and installation I told him that this deal wouldn't work out. I then did my research online and found 2 websites that have the exact same laminate (without installation) from the SAME manufacturer for $1.19 sqft/$31.42 a box. This price also included a 30-year warranty. On those same websites the coordinating underlayment was $87.00 which brought my grand total of the actual product to $ 464.00.

    This means that EmpireToday was charging me $2,136 for installation which equals $7.35 per sqft of installation (compared to 1.99 sqft from Lowe's). If my laminate would have be "full price" I would be paying $16.27 per sqft of installation. It is absolute robbery. I have been calling them to price match (which is a company policy) and to email me a written copy of my quote but I keep getting passed from one representative to the other. Again, I have never felt obligated to write a review but felt it was my obligation to warn customers like me who have been saving to update their homes. If Empire pulls through and price matches my quote I will gladly update my review but until then I will remain sincerely disappointed in this company.

    After posting my review on this site, I received a phone call from a representative at Empire and they acted quickly to attempt to resolve the installation issue. I am uncertain if they saw the review and that has prompted the call or if they were being proactive in attempting to resolve the issue.

    The carpet was installed late afternoon on the 7th and I was satisfied with the installation and found the carpet installer to be skilled, fast and friendly. He was apologetic about the experience I'd had and I appreciated that very much. Because of the inconvenience I experienced (having to schedule additional time off from work, failure to communicate delays to me in a timely manner, etc.), I am still unable to recommend Empire and will be using a different company for further carpet installations.

    My feedback for Empire would be to ensure that their customers are given accurate information about installations and communicate delays as quickly as possible.

    Original Review: Jan. 7, 2016

    On 1/2/16, we had a salesperson come out to help us choose carpeting for our lower level. We setup time for installation on 1/6/16 and put down a required deposit of $100. On 1/5/16, I received a call and an e-mail confirming the installation between 8 AM and 6 PM on the 6th and was told someone would call me in the AM on the 6th to give an estimated time of arrival; they also gave me a number to call in case I had any questions. By 5 PM on the 6th, I had not received a call so I called the number I was given. The first person I spoke with told me I was calling the wrong number (this was their Chicago office) and that they would transfer me to the KC office; the call then disconnected. I called back and the same thing happened again.

    I called a third time, told them I kept being disconnected and they transferred me to someone else that told me the carpet we'd ordered wasn't in stock. I was told they wouldn't know until the AM of the 7th if they'd have it or not; they also authorized a $100 discount from the order for our inconvenience. I asked for a number to call on the 7th to confirm the status of the order and was given the same number (Chicago office) I'd been given on the 5th. I asked for a different number and was told that was the only number they had. Later that evening, I got another e-mail stating that our carpet would be installed on the 7th between 8 AM and 6 PM and that someone would be calling in the AM to give an estimated time of arrival. By 9:30 AM on the 7th, I hadn't received a call so I called again and was told the carpet we'd ordered still wasn't in stock and that I would have to reschedule.

    At that point, I chose to cancel the installation and told them I'd go with a different company. They offered to take another $50 off the order for our inconvenience but by this point, I had lost all confidence with Empire's ability to fulfill their promises. While everyone I spoke with at Empire was courteous and professional, I cannot recommend using their company for carpet installation as they were unable to fulfill their promised delivery dates and took no action to inform me of the delays.

    I had Empire Today install carpet in our entire condo 2 years ago. The installers that were sent to do the job were 2 very nice gentleman, but they didn't speak English. This was a problem as I had to show them several times how I wanted the stairs carpeted, and could not communicate properly the concerns I had. About 7 months ago the carpet started to bucket in just about every room. I was told that it would cost me out of pocket since it only had a one year warranty. I have never seen carpet do this before this quickly. It's embarrassing and I can't believe the carpet is a little over 2 years old. I'm pretty sure it's buckling because of poor installation and I'm going to have to go up the ladder on this one as I don't feel I should have to spend hundreds of dollars on top of the 3500 originally spent to have this fixed.

    I'm completely satisfied with the floor done by Empire Today. I like the padding up under the floor, the color, the texture, the way they put the trimming around the wall down the hallway. It looks very rich, like it's been here the whole time. There was a scratch and wood putty needed to be put around the fireplace but they came and fixed it.

    I just had to call back and get something straightened out about the 30-year warranty and I was told that Empire Today would be responsible for it. But now the warranty seems to be with the floor maker. I had asked about the paperwork three times and I only got it today after the holidays. I got to find out more about what’s going on because there should be some trail. But other than the warranty and making absolutely sure who these people are and why was I told that the warranty would come from Empire and it’s not (so it’s kind of scary), it was fine. The floor is not a problem. I only want things to gel together and have something ironclad.

    I made an online appointment for a sales representative to come and show me hardwood and laminate to redo our home. My time was January 4 between one and three at 3:15. I called to see if everything was OK and first I got hung up on then I called back and it took a while and they found me in the records and said, "Oh" they didn't know what happened and they called the sales rep and left a message and nobody ever called or showed up so I called on January 5 to give them the benefit of the doubt and they said, "Oh, we don't know what happened but we could reschedule you and come out Thursday." I said I was a little concerned and wondered if this is how they did business having the customer wait then the rep not show.

    Then since I had called them with the concern I was a little surprised that they didn't call to make sure that a sales rep showed up for the appointment. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Called today and asked if they were going to send somebody out and she said, "Yeah, we can try to send somebody out Thursday" and I said, "I've already been waiting. Is this how you do business because it's a little concerning?" And she was like, "No, we don't know what happened but they can come see you Thursday" and I see the reviews on here and it seems mainly people are happy so maybe I should give them another chance.

    New carpet installed in Spring 2013 and was said to come w/ 20 year warranty. Aside from the fiasco of the workers "patch-working" the carpet pieces together (8 pieces in my living room), the carpet is loose, keeps snagging and apparently they were short on padding since there is a dip just in front of the divider from carpet to hardwood. The way this carpet looks after nearly 3 years, there's no way it will last to 5 years much less 20 years. I'm sure the horrible installation plays a part but Empire Today sent a rep to my home who didn't see any probs so no resolution. Buyer beware!

    Our neighbor across the street had a carpet put in by Empire. They were pleased with the work ethics and the warranties, so we had them do our laminate flooring as well. They were here on time, worked, and got out when they said they would. However, I'm not happy with the fact that I don't know how to clean my floor. The only thing they said was to use Swiffer.     I had my laminated floor replaced by Empire last month. I looked at Home Depot and Lowe's but I'm not that familiar with brands. I didn't see the same brand Empire used at either one of those stores. I only had Lowe's and Home Depot's price per square foot but Empire's price was the combined product and installation cost. Empire had a good price and their warranty is pretty good so I decided to go with them. Our new flooring is excellent. They asked me if I was gonna do any linoleum in the kitchen.     Last Monday your installers replaced all the carpet in the home we just purchased. I verified with both the sales rep who came to our home as well as the installers that we would be getting all new padding underneath as well. Everyone said yes. Today I noticed the walk in closets upstairs did not have the same feel as the rest of the house. IN AN ATTEMPT TO CUT CORNERS AND COST, THE INSTALLERS LEFT THE OLD PADDING I ALL THE CLOSETS. There is a noticeable difference in feel and we can smell the difference as the previous owners had dogs and cats! We are beyond upset because we feel they thought no one would ever notice! It's Sunday but I did call the 1-800 number to record my complaint. They said it may take up to 3 days to get a call back. Unacceptable.

    We bought a hardwood floor, a carpet, and some tiles from Empire so I had three different contractors in here. There was no problem when we called the 1-800-EMPIRE. They sent somebody in two different days from my phone call, to come here and pressure me to just put the carpet and the hardwood floor in before Thanksgiving and Christmas. There was no problem with that. They were going above and beyond my needs to schedule it in their advantage to come in here and do the sales. Each contractor that came asked me for the survey after that, like how did they do their job. I'm familiar with that and I was happy with the tile and the carpet.

    With the hardwood floor, the installer contracted by Empire was a piece of work that even at the end of the night, he was not even talking to me when I was telling him "What you did in the hallway, there is a gap in there. Where are you going? Why aren’t you finishing the rest? Don't keep going when you're doing that." And then, he left. And I even called the salesperson within 24 hours to say I didn't even fill up the report. There were two guys that came. There was a young man which I'm pretty sure he's out of it. He's just working for him. The other adult understood enough English, and he didn't even tell me he's leaving. He just grabbed his stuff and he left. And then I was telling my husband, we paid more than 6,000 for just the hallway and 12 steps, and I'm telling him there's a one-inch gap in the open hallway.

    But not even one person picked up the phone to do the follow-up on that. Even before the holiday, I tried to contact the salesperson that sold us this product. I already rated them and told my problem to the salesperson that came to the house. He told me he's gonna check it with his district or market manager. And twice I tried to call Empire to put my complaint in, but every time the wait is 55 minutes to one hour and five minutes. It's a ridiculous way to just put the complaint in.

    I would just like somebody from Empire to call me and send somebody back because I even told my salesman I have 90 days to dispute my transaction, which I will. I told him I don't wanna wait for the whole 90 days, but at the end of my 85 days, I'm gonna go ahead and dispute my transaction. The company has to call me, just like they're saying "a hundred percent satisfaction or your money guarantee back." I don't want my money because I cannot get my time back. They should come back and fix those two or three things. At the end of my steps, it's missing a piece. They charged me for it. I understand the salesperson is not the one who did it, so I don't want to keep bugging him. But it's gotta be either the company or somebody.

    We bought our first home and decided to replace the flooring. We went with Empire because of the great sale they are having, we regret ever calling them. The carpet was supposed to be installed after the wood laminate but there was a mix up and the carpet was installed first. The laminate was supposed to be completed on the 28th but there has been one thing after another like ordered wrong supplies and not enough supplies. We are still waiting for our floors to be completed. Can never get a hold of anyone for help and it really doesn't seem as though they care about customer satisfaction. I wanted to do so much more work to the home but will never use them again. Such bad practice. I will be spreading the world where ever I can about how bad of a company this is.

    I am a Chicago native and grew up singing the Empire jingle. When we decided to put hardwood floors in our house, I knew where to call. The salesman was nice and got us what we thought was a good price on hardwood flooring for our entire house. Where things went wrong was with the installation. They were unprofessional right from the start. We had been told that they would pull out the old shabby floors and install the new floors after. The installers tried to get us to just lay the new floor on top of the old floor. I called Empire and they confirmed our contracted price included ripping up the old floors.

    The installers asked if we could clear out the living room first so they could lay the floors directly through to the bedrooms the same direction. Great! Well, the installers laid the boards the same way, but cut the boards at the entry way to the door so it required a very ugly and unprofessional threshold to be put on top of it. It literally looks like someone put a wooden ruler in our doorway. They then ended up doing this in all the rooms. Why didn't they just have the floors go through? When we asked, we were told - "that's where the threshold goes." Did I mention that our installers couldn't speak English well. I have no trouble with skilled immigrants working on our home, but we could not communicate with them at all, and our sales person was now nowhere in the picture.

    The installers continued to do sloppy work at any difficult part - along exterior doorways the wood was cut in a jagged fashion approximately 2 inches away from the door so a threshold could cover it. Wood flooring was not lined up with the window, and, you guessed it, a threshold lined the window. Actually two, put together crookedly, and they had actually split the wood with a nail and left it that way. There are examples of sloppy work all over the house. We chose Empire Today because they've been doing this since the 70s, they are supposed to be professionals, and they had a good rating with the BBB. We are SO unhappy with our floors. It looks like WE installed them, not professionals.

    We called Empire to complain, and the complaint was lodged with the Installation Department. They said they would contact us within 3 business days. At 5:00 today will be 3 business days, and no call. I still hold out hope that they will make this right. That they will pull out the flooring in the doorways and lay floors correctly. That they will remove the thresholds along the doorways and along the windows and cut the wood cleanly as a professional would do. I am so so upset that they are not going to make this right, which is why I'm lodging a complaint on this site. Any company can make a mistake. It's how they correct it that matters.

    I had Empire Today install a new floor in the kitchen and carpeting upstairs and downstairs. I was very happy with my carpeting, but I have been very disappointed with them mainly because it went almost a month before they finished my kitchen floor. When they did the kitchen floor, they covered the vents on my registers that’s why they didn’t work for a couple of days, but that finally cleared up and I'm sure that wasn’t their fault. Also, they didn’t have the bottom baseboard when they came to do the kitchen floor. I kept calling and they kept telling me they're going to send somebody and then nobody would come. I felt that they should have reimbursed me something for what I went through but I never heard anything back, so I'm very dissatisfied with them.

    I had Empire before and I had found them reliable. So when they laid my carpet, it was wonderful. Everything was fine except that they took off my bi-fold doors which they had to do for the carpet. But when they carried them out to the garage, they weren’t careful. They managed to lose most of the rollers on top and they should’ve known better. That gave us a lot of difficulty because the new rollers we got in the store were too big. I didn’t understand why because they ought to know that those bi-fold doors have rollers on top, slip it right off so they could’ve taken and put them in a bag and left it on the counter, and we will put them back on. That caused great confusion and as a result, I didn’t have any doors for about two or three weeks.

    I had carpet installed in 2007 and I was very happy with it. I recently went to remove the carpet and realized that the whole padding was stapled. All over my hard wood floors. The floors are going to need to be repaired. I called Empire and questioned that the installers were professional. They said they were but that they were subcontractors. I requested their license # and Empire said they didn't have that information. I have consulted 2 other professional carpet layers and both agreed that the floor was damaged. I would like someone from your company to come out and confirm that this is how you normally install carpet and that you stand behind it. Thank you!

    The salesman and installers were very nice and the installers did a wonderful job putting in my laminate floor. Recently bought a house and had Lowe's come out and measure but wanted someone to come to my house with samples and help me decide on what to do since I had hardwood in another room. And a friend recommended Empire. The sales rep told me laminate was very durable and as I am getting on in years, did not want to spend a lot of money and wanted something that looked nice and would hold up as I have a dog and grandchild. I went with the laminate but within one week the laminate started peeling up in one area and then spread to several other areas in the living area.

    I had an area rug in part of the room and the laminate under it was fine. Contacted Empire and when they came out, they said it was water damage though I had used Bona (as they recommended) and a damp mop to clean and then dried it with a towel so could not understand why it was peeling. They saw a small drop of water they brought in at the doorway and said I needed a rug there (there had been a rug there I took up before they came). If they are going to say something about a drop of water, what does that say about their product? Said they would replace the peeling areas which I was fine with. Then yesterday my adult son came over and spilled a drink on the floor in another room with new laminate. I immediately cleaned it up with Bona and a towel. Within five minutes it was peeling up.

    If a product is going to peel every time I clean it and cannot stand up to normal spills, I feel I should have been warned when I bought the product instead of being told how durable it was. Had I known their laminate was not durable, I would have saved up for hardwood. I have a hardwood floor in another room in my home that has been there 15 years and looks great. The laminate looked great for a week until it started peeling. It seems like paper over cardboard. It didn't even last a month. And then to feel like it's something I did when I did exactly as I was told in caring for it upsets me. I have not contacted them about the second room yet because I cry every time I think about it. Is this going to happen every time I clean or if my grandchild spills something? If that's the case I'm going to need to have it replaced every few months. This was supposed to last 30 years.

    And I am 60 and can't afford to keep replacing something I thought was a good product. I was told it was the best laminate they sold. I would either like my money back so I can buy a durable product or have the money I paid put towards hardwood and just pay the difference though I'm concerned about Empire doing anything else since their "best" didn't last a week. I have no complaints about the sales rep or the installation team, just the product and that I was misled into thinking it was durable. I clean my floors with Bona every 1-2 weeks and use a towel to dry it so it looks nice. If I can't even clean my floors without them falling apart, I might as well have a dirt floor. And it makes me physically sick to have to make payments on something that I know is going to have to be totally replaced with something good as soon as I get them paid off and can afford to get a quality product somewhere else. I'll never get to retire.

    I called Empire for carpeting then I went to Home Depot and got a ballpark number and both prices were very competitive with one another. Empire could install earlier so I went with them. I had $8500 worth of carpeting laid in my house's lower level—in my dining room, my master bedroom, and the other bedrooms downstairs. We just bought our home and it was really worn so once we put that Berber, it’s beautiful carpeting and we’re very happy with it. So far, so good, I’ve had no problem with it. I had a good experience so I passed on Empire as a recommendation to my granddaughter. They were visiting over and we bragged Empire up so they called them.

    On the contrary, my granddaughter had a horrible experience over in Alma, Michigan. The guy never showed up the first time then he called and canceled the second time. So I called Empire and talked to a manager there and he said, “Well, I will make sure that they show up this next time,” which they did, but this guy said, “Well, finally, I showed up.” That’s how his response was and I was really ticked off to say the least. She ended up going with Home Depot. So even though my experience was good and I don’t have anything to say about it, I’ll never recommend them again because of my granddaughter’s experience.

    Empire's rep was the nicest man and was thorough. He explained everything the way I wanted to do so I took the opportunity. I didn't plan to do it at that time but I went ahead. They installed linoleum in my bathroom, laminate in the dining and living room and carpet in the bedroom. I was very happy with my experience with them.

    We looked around for other brands, but Empire Today's quality and the job they've done was way better. The cost was a little bit more but it was worth it, plus you get it the next day. We chose their premium carpets and pads and had them installed through the whole first floor. We love our new flooring.

    My entire experience with Empire Today has been the worst experience that I can imagine. My original carpet installation appointment with Empire was overlooked by the company. The sale rep. failed to notify me that my order would not processed for install according to the time decided upon and listed on my contract. I missed more than a half of days of work during the original install date and had to rearrangement my home four times by the end of the process while missing more time off from work. The company was slow and lethargic at remedying the situation in the most minimal way. I only continued service because financing had been approved and I am careful regarding multiple hits on my credit. DO NOT USE EMPIRE TODAY!!!

    Anyone that is interested in buying from Empire Today, make sure to do the following: Get multiple quotes and compare square footage. Empire Today calculated 10-14% more square footage than anyone else. This is 1 way they increase the price. Submit other quotes to Empire to try to get the price down. Empire first quoted us $11,270 and then later counter offered $8,500; that's about 75% of their original price. If they could do it for $8,500 why were they trying to charge more originally? But we ended up going with someone else who had better product and was cheaper!
