    I had an excellent sales person come and do an in-home quote and estimate. I was really excited and felt I was making a wise choice since Empire has the price match guarantee. I signed a contract (knowing that they were competitive with their quotes - price match) and was happy to be getting our floors done. I did get another quote which was $100 more, so I was really pleased I chose Empire. The day of our installation I heard nothing from them and called to make sure that someone was coming. The installers arrived at 11:30 am which I thought was kind of late for a big job, but still glad everything was still going to take place.

    Then we found out that I was misquoted (have it in black and white). Empire tried to explain the difference stating that I was aware. I took my contract out and NOTHING was itemized. All of the work I wanted done was listed along with the total quote. I told them I was going to go with the other contractor I got the other quote from. They wanted $1100 more from us and when I told them no they put me on hold while they scrambled for a solution. This was very awkward for us and the installers who drove up from Illinois. I was told that Empire uses their own "guys". The name on their van had a different flooring company name.

    Finally after being on hold for a long time, they agreed to charge us only $525 more instead of the full $1100. Since we had already taken time off of work, emptied the rooms to be redone, we went along with it. Now we sit here a day later $5100 later with no workers returning to do the work. What a waste of time. I was hoping to get this done by a specific date. I'm on hold with Empire right now. Something that I have grown accustomed to. Now a day later, they found out the crew they sent yesterday opted out of the job. Nobody called us with an update or ETA. They are sending a new crew. Thank goodness, but this could have been handled much differently. Very unprofessional.

    We used Empire previously. Because of our past satisfaction, we had them install carpet in our home. Their guys did a nice clean-up. They were pleasant, polite and considerate towards us. But the job itself was lousy. After they had gone, we stepped on a nail in the master bedroom that hadn’t been picked up off the pad. When I moved the bed out to plug some electrical appliances into the outlet, I found that the carpet was mis-cut and it was never taken care of or mentioned to us. Also, I don’t think they really stretched it the way that I’d seen it stretched in the past. This is not living up to my expectations based on my prior experience with Empire.

    I called Empire based on their customer marketing ads. They sent a independent contractor out 4 days later. He was very nice, did his job, sold a product and service he had no control over. A week later, got email confirming install date, even called the night before taking and emptying 3 rooms and the inconvenience it would cause. They said "Yes we'll be there between 8 and 6", so far so good. Then they call at 9:30 am to say "Sorry it will be another week". I would have been fine with that if I had not taken all the things out, no internet, TV, or a place for elders for another week.

    I called my sale guy, he just brushed it off, like "Oh, sorry that happen", and "understand if you need to cancel". I just wonder, are big companies like this, just so big they really don't care about their customers, "another will come along, cause our prices are cheaper". Sure I did see their ratings, but again have to wonder if the good ones are used, based upon a great marketing ability. I aid in elders and needed the timing of service more than the so-called savings. Thank you for your time, and no I am sad to say not a happy customer of Empire.

    I've ordered in the past from Empire Today. Recently, they installed a carpet in the living room hallway of my house. One of the salient points of going with Empire was that, in the past, they've warranted their product and I found that reassuring. The representative who came to show me the carpet was able to work out the price to an agreeable term. I had a bunch of comments about how the installation will be done. Once all my questions were answered, the installers came out and I made a special trip to be in the house because I was working that day. I talked to the guy in charge before they got started about the seams, the thresholds, and the closets so we’re on the same page. He seemed to be very in tune with what I wanted.

    I had a threshold around the hearth around my stove and it was kind of elevated on wonderboard so it was well higher off the plywood on the floor. He acknowledged the fact that the way he built it up would not only strengthen but would support the hearth at its transitions. So he did little extra things. He advised me that he was going to have to pull some baseboard on the hallway because it would be at the wrong height after the install, which saved me some time and frustration of not knowing why it was not mentioned beforehand. The guy was not only professional in problem-solving but was also concerned about providing the customer service with a high-quality standard. He provided me exactly what I wanted.

    What I would really consider quality control was the professionalism from start to finish. From the representative who showed me the carpet, to the walk-through from the installers, to the checking on customer satisfaction by corporate within a week or two after the installation. The progressiveness of service and providing the quality to the customer was appreciated. They care enough about their clientele that they would pursue the comments and customer reaction.

    I am very unhappy with the service I have received from Empire Today. On February 9, 2016 a sales rep came to my home to show and sell us on some flooring for $12,000. I explained to the sales rep that the price was ridiculous and we were in no way willing to pay that price for two rooms of laminate flooring. We eventually came to an agreed price, payment was made and set a date for installation. We were told the installation date would be February 13, 2016, and someone would call on at 8 a. m the morning of and arrive by 10:00 am. We waited several hours for someone to call and no one ever did. I contacted Empire and was told that the installing would not occur that day due to the fact that someone had dropped the ball and not completed all paperwork. I was then given a new date for installation of February 20, 2016. They arrived at 9:30 a.m.

    The work was started on February 20, but was not completed due to the fact that they did not have enough material. I was told they would return on Feb 23, but they called on Feb 23 to cancel and say they would come on February 24. I was then again contacted on Feb 24, 2016 to say they would yet again not be able to make it to finish the incomplete work. I am so unhappy with Empire Today and the customer service they have provided. I would never refer this company to anyone. I have a 10 month old baby but yet I have laminate slabs left in my foyer and old carpet that was removed that was suppose to hauled away still left in my home in the areas where my infant child plays. I have rearranged my schedule several times to be home for them to come, for them to only cancel or be a no show. This is not a very professional company at all. Never use Empire Today!!!

    The start of the process was OK, rep worked out deal and got everything scheduled. After that it was downhill. The only thing that kept me moving forward after was the crew that came into install the floor - they were great. That was the only part that was good.

    Wed night I ripped up my own carpet, strips, and base boards wed night till about 2am. They were suppose to arrive Thursday morning. Thursday, I never received a call, follow-up or time frame, so I called Empire Today. After a long conversation with the rep he informed there was a missed measurement and that the floor wouldn't be installed nor was it properly scheduled. I have 2 children under the age of 3 and a pregnant wife, with the whole first floor ripped up. So they finally scheduled for Friday. I've asked multiple times with email and phone calls to speak to a supervisor or regional manager.

    I have yet to receive a call, email or even a follow-up and this was installed in Dec 2015, and it is couple months later and still nothing. This was by far the worst experience I have received on services rendered. I'm going to notify my local news and allow them to do a story. Unluckily I have pictures and video of everything. With as big as a company as this is, I would steer clear and go with a independent contractor near your hometown.

    I had wood flooring installed by Empire Today in our home in Upper Darby Pennsylvania. I had them installed in our living room, dining room and second floor hallway. We also had them install tiles in our kitchen and bathroom. Their cost was much better compared to others but as per quality, they're all similar. I like the wood flooring because the design was a lot different than other floor sample I had seen. However, they weren’t really clear that it wasn’t going to be ceramic tiles that they'll put in our kitchen and bathroom. It still looks very nice and it’s a nice floor but it’s not that hard like ceramic tile. It’s like a fake bendable thing like linoleum.

    So far, they were on time on the day of installation and they finished when they said they would. Also, they said they could put the flooring in our bedroom, but when they came they said they couldn't do it. But the sales rep told me that it could have been done. So, that was disappointing. I wasn't able to use Empire for that one bedroom and ended up using a different vendor. Finally, I think it was a great price but they weren't as clear about their services as they could have been.

Except for this problem we have been very satisfied with Empire Today. We love the new floor coverings and are pleased with the installation.     We recently had our entire home floor covering done by Empire. We were happy with our carpet choices and the quality of the LVT installed. The salesperson was patient and not at all pushy. The installers worked hard to complete two very full days. The problem started when the installers for the luxury vinyl tiles told us that we did not need the underlay for our floors and we should be getting a refund for it.

    I have called customer service and was told to contact the salesperson. I have done that several times and only get a promise to let me know why it's being delayed. No action on anyone's part. It's not a small refund. They owe us $957.50 for material not used and I cannot get it back. When they come to install the product, they insist on full payment before they will even bring the floor covering into your home. When they have your money for product not used it's an entirely different scenario. I cannot recommend Empire Today after this experience. If I had gone with a local company this could have been adjusted right at the time of installation and I would not have had to pay for something not used.

    Empire installed carpet and hardwood in our home early February. Carpet experience wonderful - hardwood experience horrible. We,are still trying to get shoe molding fixed. 1 had to take 2 days off of work to wait on them to come back to repair molding... they never showed up. Today an inexperienced installer came with equipment that didn't work, not enough materials to finish the job and he did a horrible job on the molding. Left dirty handprints on my walls. Going to have to deal with them tomorrow to hopefully get my floor fixed or I will be disputing my credit card bill.

    First let me say that this has been the worst experience in customer service. It has been over a year and I still do not have my flooring done! I contracted Empire Today to install carpet in 3 rooms and my stairs. The carpet is fine and have no issues with. I also contracted them to install laminate in my laundry room, kitchen, powder room, and hall bath in all the same color. This is where the nightmare began. First the installers placed the laminate over the top of my ceramic flooring in the hall bath. This should not have happened. Then the installers covered the kitchen floor with some type of sealing product that caused a dull finish. We had someone come out and inspect the floors. The hall bath and kitchen floors had to be redone.

    When the second installers came out they used a different type of padding in the kitchen than was used in the powder room and laundry room. These rooms are all together so when you stepped down from one room to the other you can tell the difference. At this point we were told the kitchen floor would have to be redone again. There were five different times that someone was suppose to come out and either they didn't come out or they showed up without the right product. It became so long that the original flooring was no longer available and our sales rep had to come out so we could choose new flooring.

    One would think that after all this someone would make sure not to screw up our order. Not so. When the installers showed up to install the new floors they were told it was only a repay job and that we had the product. The installer had to go back to the warehouse and pick up the many boxes of our flooring. Because he lost most of the day doing this he wasn't able to complete the job. My husband has had to take multiple days off from work for this. The installers were suppose to come back last Saturday and never showed up or called. They finally showed up today and I can't believe I even have to type this but they had the wrong product. This company is the biggest joke and I would never purchase anything from them again even if it were free. I am to the point where I am going to hire someone out of my own pocket to finish the job.

    I had flooring put in the kitchen and in my daughter’s room. I went with a product sold by Empire because of the gauge of the flooring. I’m unhappy with the ledge. They fixed it and it’s still not good. My daughter has a wheelchair, and it’s very hard to get over the lip that goes in from the hallway into her room. I have to call them to come back and make it lower. Also, what I got was a laminate type of flooring but they do have now the linoleum type that looks like wood. I didn't know they had it and I wish I have gotten that.

    I called in June 2015 to schedule. My appointment was cancelled twice before someone finally came out. When installers came they were rude, unprofessional and acted as if they had somewhere better to be. Less than 1 year later my padding is flat and it feels like I'm walking on my subfloor.     I have looked into considering other brands, but Empire Today has a better product at the same price, if not a little bit cheaper so I got 750 square feet of plush carpeting installed by them. I had done two bedrooms before which I bought through Home Depot but I had problems with them. They send out contractors that were really bad and slow. It was just two bedrooms and they were here all day. And when Empire Today came and did this large area, they had to help me move furniture and pull all the stuff out. They came in a crew of four Spanish guys where only one speaks English but were really nice and didn't mind moving something, and they worked so fast that they completed the whole thing in three hours.

    The carpet vacuums up really nice and it's a very light beige which is a pretty color. I was a little worried when they first brought it because it didn't look like the sample, but once they got it in here, I realized that it was the right color. Overall, the experience was really good and very satisfactory. The saleslady had to come out twice and I didn't qualify for the loan and then she came out again and worked with me, and my daughter ended up doing the financing with her credit. And hopefully, I'll get this paid off, and I'm planning on getting some other stuff done. I would recommend it to my friends and to anybody that needs carpet.

    Empire's customer service dept called me, actually several times leaving messages, to resolve the issue I had with no one coming out to fix the problem in my laundry room. I had someone I knew come over & fix it because I had to get my dryer back in place (didn't want to keep going to the laundromat).

    When I finally talked to someone, she was very sorry the installers did not come out to fix the problem. She asked me how much I spent on my guy, which was only $25, and she offered to pay us back $50 for our hassle. I appreciated her persistence in contacting me and her offering me double what we spent. I am happy with Empire & will use them again. Issue resolved!

    I had my laundry room floor installed with vinyl tile, they put 1/4 round to finish it off. I was unable to inspect closely (I didn't think I needed to that closely), but after the flooring dried & I was able to walk on the floor, I noticed they had covered up part of my dryer vent on the floor with the 1/4 round. I called Empire to have them come & fix it so I could get my dryer back in place, but I didn't hear from anyone for 5 days. In the meantime, I had someone I know take care of it (& paid him) since I needed to start using my laundry room. So I guess the moral of that story is to hope you don't find any mistakes because they won't be right out to take care of it.

    This response is for tile work that was to be done by Empire carpet / flooring company. To be fair, I had carpet and tile work done - the carpet work was great. The tile work was awful and they made no effort to help or resolve the problem. I think they thought if they ignored me I just might go away? The work was initially done on January 8th. After inspecting the work, I promptly sent an email to my contact salesperson Muir, outlining the problems and the fact that my personal property was damaged and the work was not completed as it should have been. Amongst other things, the workers decided to empty my trash can and mix tile grout in it, which ruined it, and use my tub as a mixing bowl for grout, leaving it caked and dried in the tub when I came home. I also attached pictures of the problem areas. Two days goes by, no reply, so I forward that email again.

    At this point he has me placed in touch with a manager, Melissa **, to try to help on 1.19.2016. She schedules that they should be coming out on 1.26 to fix this. On 1.26 they never show up. As per my email I sent her, they were supposed to call before arriving but never did that so they arrived unannounced at the property, and no one was there (obviously since I was working and asked that they call ahead) and left. Empire did not call me, I was just left to figure this out and sort it out myself. Actually, what happened was that I called them. They said they had "no idea" why the sales person didn't arrive and would make sure I got a call back within 15 minutes. Shockingly, 2 hours goes by with no call and I have to call in again to find out what happened. At this point, I email my sales person to express my disappointment and no response. Clearly, now that the sale was made he could care less.

    We did schedule again and they come out on 29th. Attached please a picture that I sent. First of all, they only fixed half of the job. They fixed the bathroom and not the entryway. I asked that they call before finishing so I could come back from work to inspect it and that never happened. Secondly, they left the flooring with the nail side facing out in my young daughters room. Thankfully she did not run around the corner but why they: (a) did not dispose of the old flooring; and (b) decided to leave the flooring on the corner of my daughter's bedroom? I don't know.

    I contacted manager Melissa again about this and asked her on 2.2 when the job would be finished. Five days goes by and no response. As of 2.7 I had still not received a response or acknowledgment. At this point I asked for a refund. On February 8th, she offered for the to come back (again) and fix the job. It's really nice now that they have my money that they think they can just come fix their work whenever it's convenient for them. Sure. Take your time. It's not like I am paying interest on my credit card or anything.

    After not responding for a week to my request or any status updates and the difficulty I have had with Empire and lack of customer service, I do not want them coming to my home again to fix the work. They either don't show, don't call ahead, break my property (as evidenced by the email that I sent Melissa when they were at my house on the 29th they broke a picture frame in the bathroom and then just re-hung it like we might not notice). They are unprofessional and I expect a full refund for the work (which I now have to have another company come and fix) and my time correcting this.

    I emptied my entire house so Empire could install carpet (5/15). After installation I had issues. Seams didn't match up and after the first week it looked worn. I paid good money for this carpet and these issues are not yet resolved. They came out, told me they would get back to me. I have not heard from them nor will they return my calls. I will never use Empire Today again and I would not recommend their service.

    So far, I'm satisfied with the end result. Floors look nice. But this almost didn't happen because of the sales rep they sent. She was rude and appeared impatient. She never seemed comfortable to be in my house and didn't seem to appreciate me as a customer, even though I paid cash. I almost backed out this deal if it were not for the fact that I really wanted the floors anyway. As a matter of fact, she served no purpose other than showing pictures of the laminate, which I could've looked at online. She left a bad taste in my mouth. The laborers however, did an efficient job. They seemed to know what they were doing and were polite. All in all, I think that lady either needs more training or is in the WRONG field.

    It was a great experience I had with Empire Today when I had them install a carpet in my living room and bedroom. I like the color and comfortability of the carpet. I don't know what it look like next year but right now I'm very pleased with it. I lived on the basement floor and the flooring there was concrete, I wasn't able to get the hardwood that I wanted. They could have done it but they had to go through another procedure. So I went on and got the carpet because they said the carpet that I had was a Builders carpet. In addition, the persons who did work were very professional, did a marvelous job, and explained and asked questions as they went ahead doing their job. They didn't lose a lot of time and did the job in a timely manner because they were finished with nothing left to clean.

    My husband and I purchased carpeting from Empire Today on November 5, 2013. We have no complaints on delivery and installation. However after I vacuumed on November 8, 2013 I noticed an unusual line on the carpet. I contacted Empire Today and got a work order number. I submitted photos of the line on the carpet to an employee there at the company via e-mail. I waited and waited and got no response. I thought that perhaps they thought I was being petty and chose to ignore my complaint. So I left it alone and decided to live with the line on the carpet since it wasn't an eye sore.

    I recently noticed that some fibers are starting to come out from where the line is and the carpet is starting to bulge in many different places including along the initial line I complained about. So now decided to contacted them again. I got a work order number, and an inspector came over within a couple of days and he took more pictures. I submitted the old photos and a copy of the initial e-mail with the initial photos.

    When I spoke to the person handling my case she stated to me that because they no longer carry the exact carpet I purchased she would offer me an upgrade, but because it had been two years, and the carpet has been obviously used and because they could not determine from the pictures what caused the missing fibers to go missing and that it is difficult to determine that the missing fibers start at the line, that I would have to pay the price difference.

    Now, mind you, the inspector that came to see the carpet did realize that the carpeting has a manufacturing defect and that the missing fibers do start at the line and said to us that he would let the company know that the carpeting needs to be replaced. Also keep in mind that when the salesman come to do his business one of the first things he says is that if there ever is a problem Empire Today would take care of it because the carpeting has a 10-25 year warranty depending on the carpet.

    I submitted a new ticket disputing the charge on February 3, 2016 and have yet to hear from anyone. I also submitted an e-mail to the person handling my case letting her know that I am disputing the charge. So now she apologized for the misunderstanding. She said that the charge is for labor. I'm not sure what the policy is for Empire Today and the employees could not tell me either. No one knows anything and so I am feeling a little bit ripped off. SHAME ON YOU EMPIRE TODAY!

    They refuse to fulfill a contract that I signed on Jan. 7, 2016!!! And paid for in full, because a saleswoman who came out to my house made a mistake, even though she got approval from her supervisor to do a price match. I have been on the phone with Empire about 15 times. No one knows what they are doing? I received an email congratulating me on my installation, which was never done. I am always transferred from one person to another. Got a call two days ago from a installation mgr. saying that my order would be installed the end of this week???

    This all started after I waited over a month for my installation to be done. They refuse to install because they want a hard copy of the price match estimate. After I signed the contract with Empire, I threw away all of the other estimates, and I can't remember who gave me the estimates due to so much chemotherapy for cancer treatments. They told me they will not honor the contract. I said, "Why was it approved by your supervisor??? I paid in full!!!" Customer service said, "Did you read the back of your contract?" (Never shown to me). She said, "We have the right to cancel any order that we want to." Please do not buy from Empire, they are unethical and very unprofessional. I have spent about 4 hours of wasted time with this company. 2 hrs for the visit, and 2 hours or more on phone calls.

    Upon closer inspection, I believe the carpet that was installed is not the carpet that I purchased. Reporting the matter to Empire in November 2015, within 2 days of installation, has resulted in no resolution as of Feb 2016, in spite of my repeated calls to follow-up with the main Empire number and the local Empire office. Repeated promises have been made by personnel who commit for field personnel who have no follow-through. In addition, there was damage done to my property which was reimbursed only 2 months after the damage was incurred, and again, only after my constant follow-up to get results.

    I used Empire Today to install my laminate floors upstairs in my home. My salesperson was great and the install went well. So, I decided to call again recently for my living room and dining room floors. Same salesperson, he was wonderful again. However, I scheduled the install, even called in to confirm the date per requested by an email from Empire Today, and no one showed up on my install date. I called in around noon to find out what time they would be there and I was told they could not do it because they didn't have the material and I needed to reschedule. So unprofessional.

    If the material was not in why did they confirm my appointment two days prior? And why did no one call me and let me know the install was not going to happen as scheduled? I wasted half my day waiting for them. To make it worse, when I called in only to get the disappointing news they weren't coming the customer service rep could care less. She had no answers and no apologies. Not a happy customer.

    Good morning. Several weeks ago I made the decision to get the carpet in my upstairs living area replaced (3 bedrooms, a hallway and stairs). I did my researched and settled on Empire. On January 8, 2016 an Empire Representative/contractor (Sonny) came to my home and we pawned over carpet types, padding and colors for a few hours before making a selection and setting on an installation date (February 8, 2016).

    Today was the day and I spent yesterday evening moving all of our smaller non-furniture items to prepare for the install. The installer called at 7:30 am and stated they were on their way. The installer arrived and he did not speak any English, creating a huge language barrier. We walked through my house and I showed him what was getting replaced and I made very certain to him in my best "Spanglish" that there was an issue with the subfloor in a particular area and I wanted to replace/fix as Sonny the Representative/contractor told me there was no issue with getting it fixed.

    The installer moved quick and soon all of the carpet and padding was removed. I went immediately to the subfloor issue in the hall and explained to the installer that there was a slight slope/dip in the flooring and it needed to be fixed, at which time he said he didn't have the tools to fix it. I then told him, "Well I need you to stop working so that I can contact Empire." I called Sonny the rep who came out to my home initially and he stated that he no longer works for Empire and to call the 1-800 number. After I contacted Empire after going through the maze of automated selections I was able to reach a customer service rep at which time I told her the issue. She stated that it was not notated in my account and Sonny no longer worked for the company.

    I explained to her that this really defeats the purpose of getting the carpet replaced and new carpet going over the bad subfloor would create the same problem with the carpets they just ripped out. I then was transferred to an installation manager Kevin. Kevin was initially very rude and unconcerned. He stated that he would have the installer take a photo of the floor, send it to him and he would call back. After about 10-15 minutes passed I asked the installer if he took a picture of the floor and he said he did. Kevin then called back and said he could patch it with a cement composite.

    At that point my concern was it appeared that that technique was already applied to the flooring previously. Kevin stated that they would not lift up the wood flooring and that was the only option. At that time the installer began laying down the cement composite to my discontent. Although I tried to keep an open mind I walked over the area after the padding and carpet were laid and could still feel the slight slope/dip.

    Several hours later the installer wanted me to come and look at the stairs at which time he advised that he was running out of carpet and would not be able to cap the wood trim on the stairs. At that time again I told him to hold tight and called Empire again. At which time I asked to speak with a supervisor the customer service rep then transferred me to another customer service rep (Carlos). I told Carlos that I was not interested in speaking with him and I've had issues with my install all day and I only wanted to speak with a supervisor.

    Carlos then places me on hold and comes back on the phone and says is there another issue with the subfloor? At which time I said I just want to speak with a supervisor. He seemed to get upset and placed me on hold again for just over 10 minutes before coming back and saying there wasn't a supervisor at the office. I replied, "Thank you for not helping" and hung up the telephone. I then called Empire again and spoke with a Yvonne ** whom did apologize and stated she would transfer me to an installation supervisor at which time I told her I wanted to speak with a supervisor with Empire. She stated that she couldn't contact a supervisor but would send them an email.

    I am very displeased with the service I have received from Empire Today and wouldn't recommend their service to anyone. I paid lots of money to your company and did not get the two main things that I wanted completed (not to mention I took the day off from work to ensure I was here so this could be completed). My subfloor is still not fixed, my stairs were not capped, some of the carpeting on the stairs appears to be loose, some of the baseboards are cracked and damaged and I'm still waiting on a supervisor's call. I was initially told by Sonny the Empire rep whom initially came to my home that none of that was an issue and everything would be done properly.

    We shopped around and the interlocking features on the hardwood that Empire Today had were a lot bigger and better than what the others were offering. Also, we weren't treated very well by the other company that we talked to. They weren't very customer-friendly.     I had Empire Today do wall-to-wall carpeting in my living room, part of a hallway, and the master bedroom. The men that put the carpet in were very nice and courteous. The only thing was they don't speak our language and it ticks me off. When the salesman was here, I told him I want a carpeting that once people stand on it, I won't see their footprints. He said, "Oh, no. This will not leave any footprints." But I can see the footprints and I can't stand it. It kills me. I vacuum every day and wear a brand new rug out before five years. It's like at the end of the year it'll be worn out.

    The reps should have bigger swatches so this way we can feel and test it. My son got a cheaper quality rug and his doesn't leave footprints because his rug got no fiber. If I had to do it again, I'd go back to Berber and I would never get this again because I'm not happy. I had a Berber that came with the house and it lasted me 10 years although I felt that it should've lasted much longer than it did. My other son in Massachusetts has Berber and he put it down when my 19-year-old granddaughter was just a baby and there is not a sign of wear on the rug. It's not Empire Today's fault. It's something that I ordered and I can live with it.

    We were debating on whether or not we were going to use carpet or wood, and eventually went with wood from Empire Today. We went with them because of the rep that we spoke with. She was very good about breaking things down, and my husband looked at other places and liked her and the deal that they had. So we had the wood installed at the stairs and at the hallway. Everything was done according to what the seller told us. The guys that worked on it were very friendly and efficient too. It's a little more expensive but it's what we wanted, although it limited us on how much we could do. But overall, our experience with the company was very informative, accurate, and reliable.

    I am very dissatisfied with the laminate flooring that I purchased from Empire flooring. I was told to use alcohol based products to clean it. Everything I have tried has left streaks. Every time someone walks on my floor you can see their footprint and it leaves smudge marks behind. I contacted them to get it resolved and they said there was nothing they would do. I paid almost $5,000 for this flooring and now I'm going to have to tear it up and start over. I would never buy from them again.

    My husband and I went through Empire to get the hardwood floors and carpeting in our home. I would not recommend them again. The sales rep lied to us completely. LIE 1 - We were having our house painted, she advised we should have the carpeting and floors installed 1st so that their installers would not have to rip out freshly painted molding. Well we did that, it costs us extra money with the painters for the time and they said we should have never had the floors in first. Lesson learned. The installers never even touched the molding. LIE 2 - Their buy one room get one free. It's a scam we found out after. They jack up the price so you think you are getting a deal. YOU DON'T SAVE ANYTHING.

    LIE 3 - When looking at the flooring, we were specific that we wanted something durable and easy to clean that was stain resistant. We have a 7lb Yorkie that sometimes has accidents, plus we have children. We went with the higher-end hardwood floors which she stated "You can have 20 Rottweilers on this floor. You will never know. This floor is scratch-resistant and has 20 layers of polyurethane so you won't see anything." Well that was a HUGE lie. The floor scratches so easily and my dog has an accident and the floor turned black from the urine. Glad I went with the Bella Hardwood... what a waste.

    Lie 4 - The carpeting. I asked for something super durable that will last and is stain-resistant. Again we went with the upgraded carpeting. On the date of delivery the driver did not have the carpeting we originally ordered but something else. They said it was even better than what we originally ordered. I should have known this was a bait-and-switch. Our carpeting looks like crap after a year. So much so that any friends who go to order from Empire I sent pictures to. I am a neat freak, own a top of the line vacuum and we don't wear shoes in the house. The carpeting looks worn. They don't place padding in the closets so it looks weird and the carpeting which was gray now looks a different color. I would have never proceeded with this.

    Lie 5 - Installers stand behind their work. They come in the same day and install the floors. Our floors have spots where they are uneven now and we have a slight split in one of the floor board. I called to have the floors looked at the installer, stated they would have to rip out the floors from one point on. He said he would get back to me. Never heard from them and calls to Empire and useless. They don't want to be bothered. Lie 6 - the sales rep told us they sent the warranty after the installation. I had to call to try to get the paperwork. The rep said I should have been given it at the contract signing. I am not happy with the quality of the floors especially for the price we ended up paying. BUYER BEWARE!!!

    Getting carpet installed with Empire was the worst experience ever and it all started from the shady salesperson (Greg **) three days before Christmas. A few days before Christmas the Salesperson came to my house to do the initial consultation. I told the Salesperson that my daughter wanted to purchase the carpet for me through Empire credit, but she lives out of town and would be coming to visit the next day. He stated he would wait to do the credit check when she comes but still put in the order to have the carpet installed on Christmas Eve. When my daughter came into town he took her information and left. Never called or anything to say if she was approved or not.

    That night and next morning I had been calling the Salesperson to see if she got approved but he never called back. The installers came to put down the carpet. Still no word from the Salesperson. So in the midst of the installers almost being done with pulling up the carpet and calling Empire's credit people who said my daughter was approved, the sales guy finally called and said she wasn't. So the carpet was pulled up but the invoice still had to be paid. This could have been prevented if everything was done in a professional/timely manner. My daughter ended up paying cash that she didn't want to necessarily use at that time, but this experience put a damper on our Christmas. Needless to say the Salesperson came to the house to relay the news and left without making sure the situation was resolved. He simply said "Oh well." In my opinion very bad and negative experience.

They worked from about 11:30 in the morning until 9:00 at night and they didn’t take any breaks because they wanted it done for me. Also, the salesman who helped me select the flooring was perfect.     I got a very bad reaction from the carpet in the bedroom that Empire Today installed. It was awful. I had a very bad allergic reaction for over two weeks and I don't know what chemical they put on the carpet but I ended up on the doctor's twice. I never had that reaction before. I couldn't sleep. The smell was so horrible and I was gagging from its smell. I had to put some kind of air freshener, which didn't help. The work that the guys did was very good but the carpet itself was horrible and I would never ever buy any carpeting from, or recommend, Empire again.

Empire was at least half the price of everybody else. The installation process was unbelievable because we have in this rather large room, some big wall units that I don't know how they were going to move, aside from a lot of furniture that's hard to move. We took all the glassware out of these units but they popped everything out. They went out of the French doors and put the stuff on the old carpeting, which the other companies would have charged me by the foot to remove the old carpeting, and there was no charge. I couldn't ask for a better job.

    Since posting to Consumer Affairs, I've received calls from both the local and corporate offices at Empire Today. They were very apologetic and offered to send another representative to my home. I initially agreed but later changed my mind and cancelled. The first experience left a very bad impression on me and we've since decided to go with another company.

    I scheduled an appointment online for an estimate for laminate flooring for the kitchen. This was my first experience with Empire and I was very disappointed. The salesman was not professional at all. He showed me a few samples by tossing the sample books on my floor and told me to chose the ones I liked. He seemed rushed and like he did not want to be there. After I chose a few options, he wrote up some prices and then began with this very pushy sales tactic. He quoted me approx 3800 for the flooring.

    After making a phone call to someone, the price was lowered to around 1900. He kept saying how I could not find it any cheaper and if I did find it elsewhere they would not honor the $1900 if they had to come back. He was very argumentative and seemed frustrated and upset. He stated that if I did not make a decision today that Empire would not come back for my business. He then made mention that it was waste of time and the company does not make money by making a number of trips to people homes that may not be serious about buying. Since I apparently was wasting his time, he hurriedly grabbed his stuff and left. No business card and no quote. He kept bashing Home Depot and even assumed that Home Depot was the company that installed my flooring because it was not a good job. I prefer to give my business to a company that wants my business. Worse experience ever.
