I was extremely happy with our sales representative. He went above and beyond with making sure we were satisfied. The installers did an excellent job. My only problem with the entire process was the fact that the tile installers spoke very little, if any English. This made communicating very difficult and frustrating.

My carpet looks amazing in my house and it feels like I have a brand new house upstairs. My only little complaint I have is the installers did mess up some of my paint on the walls and left marks on my walls. Also, some of my baseboards were dented too. Other than that I will refer a friend to Empire. My saleslady was excellent, kind, and took time with me to select the right carpet for me. I will call her again when I'm ready to do my bathrooms, kitchen, and front doorway.

Sales person was thorough, courteous and knowledgeable. Both Sales people and installation people were on time as agreed. The installers were quick and knowledgeable. They had to move furniture for a 3500 sq ft house. They were very careful and they move everything back to where it came from. They worked tirelessly until the job was done to our satisfaction. If I ever need carpet again, I will call Empire Today. I recommend them to all our friends.

What a FANTASTIC experience! The salesperson was PHENOMENAL! I think he's the reason I chose Empire to begin with. I had a salesperson from a competitor a couple of days before and he was rude and demanding. The installers were great! They did a great job installing, and were very careful with the furniture that they had to move from one room to another. They were quick and thorough. One of them even brought in a package that was delivered by the post office. That sure wasn't a part of his job, but I thought it was very considerate of him to do it. I couldn't possibly be more happy than I am with my Empire experience. I guarantee that I will (and have) definitely recommend anyone I know to use Empire Today.

I discovered a trim fixture for the laminate flooring was not attached during initial installation. I have contacted Empire Today and taken 3 days off of work to be available for them to correct the problem. Each time either the appointment was cancelled at the last minute or the repair person call after the appointment time. The company's warranty coverage is worthless if they cannot or will not fix installation errors. I have finally requested they either refund the cost of the flooring or remove their product and put my original floor back to its original condition. I was told I would receive a call from customer service within 35 minutes. It is now several hours later and no call. This may be a case of getting what you pay for.
Dear CW,
We are disappointed to hear about your dissatisfaction with our product warranty. We take your concerns seriously and will reach out to you soon to address this matter.

I'm a regular customer at Empire Today and when I need carpets, I call them. I like it when they bring all different carpets - like the one-day service. I also like that they get it done fast and I don’t have to wait for a couple of days, like most companies. I had a carpet made for the bedroom by them and the quality of the carpet is good, cushiony and soft. I have pets, so I bought the one where if they have an accident, it just stays up. Their workers were also friendly, kind and hardworking.

I have had a laminate floor installed by Empire Today about a year-and-a-half ago. The installers and customer was initially great. Over time, I started to notice glue marks on the floor and glue marks on the trim that they installed after time wants dust collected on it. I paid for a long-term warranty on the floor and started noticing that the boards were curving up and bowing in certain areas. I thought that Empire strives on having good quality products but I was wrong.
I called the warranty department and was immediately blown off and refused service. I told them that I use a steam mop on the floor which stated was perfectly safe for laminate floors and they immediately told me it was my fault and they refuse to fix it. There was no working with me, no compromise, no friendly customer service whatsoever. I feel that they will do anything they can to get out of fixing their defective stuff. Please use caution when buying products from this company.

Had new carpet installed Nov 2015. No problems with installation. After 3 months we noticed matting. Called Empire. Reported issue. Was very unhappy with customer service and all the questions. What kind of vacuum, how often do we vacuum? How many people live in the house, how many pets, do you wear shoes in the house, etc. I understand the question to a certain degree. But honestly I was calling about carpet that was maybe 4 months old. I felt as if they were questioning my use & care of the carpet to find fault rather trying to help a customer.
I was instructed that they would have a service call to come look at the carpet. The gentlemen came out, took picture, and agreed it did look matted. I was then told I would receive a call from Empire to see what they thought. I never received a call. I called them after 2 weeks. That being said... I was then instructed to have my now 5-month-old carpets professionally cleaned at my expense. So today I am having carpets cleaned so we will see what Empire has to say after. I will keep you posted.

We had laminate flooring installed from Empire Today. A friend of mine recommended that I call them, so I did. We ordered before Christmas. Things happened and I had to keep putting the salesman off and he was very understanding about it. The company didn’t cancel me or anything and the installers were topnotch. I liked the color, it’s got the wide planks and their price was very reasonable. I didn’t want wood because I have to be way too careful with that. We have friends that have dogs and I like to move furniture around. I didn’t want to have to walk on eggshells or have anybody be afraid to walk in the room. It’s a very sustainable product and so far, so good. The experience has been very comforting.

I had recently a laminate installed on the bedroom and hallway by Empire and they did a good job. However, I had a bad experience with my first flooring with Empire four years ago. I had carpet put in the living room, hall and part of the family room. I had laminate put in the kitchen and the other half of the family room. Up against my sink is a gap that is one inch wide. There are two boards that the gap is one inch. They keep scooting back, so that I have little spaces between the boards out in the middle of the floor. It's my fault, I didn't complain about it before.
We had to put laminate in the bedroom and get rid of the carpet because of the wheelchair. My daughter has a friend whose husband is a salesman for Empire. I told my daughter her friend's husband can come out and we'll talk about it. When he came out, he gave me a decent price and he looked at the floor and said, "That is definitely shotty workmanship." After they installed, I paid to have an inspector come out. They charged me twice because I gave the man who came out to inspect a $75 check and he phoned that in and they charged it by telephone that day. Then four days later, they charged my check also. I called about that and they said it would take 15 days to get that straightened out.
Then they called and reported that the man who inspected it said that it was a maintenance issue; that I wasn't taking care of the floor properly. It was too wet. I am thinking if their flooring is going to shrink a whole inch because I mop it, then there's a problem somewhere. So I told her that she's got to be kidding me because that cannot be the problem with the flooring. She says, "Well, we can still send another inspector out." I asked if I have to pay for that one too and she said no. So there is another inspector coming out that is not with Empire. He's an outside inspector and he's coming out the 12th to look at it and give us his opinion. With my husband’s health and all this is going on, it has driven me nuts.

My boyfriend ordered Carpet and Vinyl for all his bathrooms and entire upstairs last week. They said they would be here Saturday (today) to install the carpet which is fine. But he called to confirm the appointments on Thursday because he was doing his own tear out of the carpet and Vinyl. They confirmed that he was scheduled for today. Then Yesterday after he had already ripped up the flooring in all the bathrooms and upstairs rooms and taken up every single toilet in the house they call to say they can't find a Vinyl installer for that day and maybe they can make it out Monday. He asks what he is supposed to do without a toilet for the entire weekend and they didn't seem to even care.
There was no guarantee that they would be out Monday. Then the carpet installer said they would be there between 9-11. They didn't show up till 1 in a van bearing no name of the company and no clothing on that even represents the company. Then the carpet for the Master Bedroom is damaged so they didn't even complete the job. So the Master bedroom and stairs are still without carpet and they didn't even say when they would be back. But they left the damaged carpet and the pad all over the place and then didn't haul away the old carpet today. So my boyfriend can't even park in the garage. The carpet that they did complete looks good but the whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel bad since I am the one that told him to call Empire.

My husband and I hired Empire Today for carpeting and vinyl flooring. We were given a decent deal and our sales person told us part of the deal was only good for a certain amount of time. We wanted our flooring done ASAP and booked an appointment time that day. The week before the install we spoke to two different people to confirm the date and got a confirmation email. We hired a babysitter for the first install day as we have two children under the age of 5 and wanted the installers to be hassle free. We spent several hours prepping our home. Today rolls around with no call for an arrival time. My husband calls and is told they have no record of us being scheduled for today. They tell my husband they can service our home in two weeks.
My husband took Monday off of work for day 2 of the install. We have family visiting this week and a baptism for our daughter this weekend. All of this was planned around our flooring being done. When I spoke to customer service they were extremely fake and condescending. I reached out to my salesperson with no response. We paid 3,000 dollars down and have been told we "should" see our money in 7-10 business days. So utterly disappointed with this company that I actually cried today. Horrible experience.

When the Empire Today salesman came over, I asked him a bunch of questions to make sure that there was no formaldehyde or anything like that on the flooring. He said no and explained that it's because everything is made in the United States. So we decided to get them to install the laminate floors throughout the house. And the other thing was that they did everything in one day. So it's a big difference when you have a lot of people in your family. The installation crew that was here were very professional, great and quick. They moved all the furniture and were very careful. We had it done about a month ago. A month prior, we had the living and dining room and the kitchen. Then, the month later we had the bedrooms done. And luckily, we got the same crew. The flooring is beautiful. I wasn't quite sure how the carpeting was going to look just by looking at the piece of it, but I was really surprised that it looks really nice after the installation. I also found out by accident that it's very repellent to stains. I accidentally got some paint on it when I was redoing this one door. Recently we had both Tiling and Carpet installations. The tiling went well, with the exception of the installers were not careful when hitting the walls, baseboards and tracking dirt into the house without care, but the actual tile came out very nice. Now for the carpet. We thought we were purchasing quality with a good padding, but when you walk on this carpet there is no comfort like a good quality would have, instead it is very stiff. This carpet would not even cover my baseboards and now I have a gap between my baseboards and carpet which looks, well, looks horrible. Now I am not sure what to do without adding cost. I contacted the sales person and of course he said, "Call the customer service line and complain," Wow!!! Empire Today put tile down in the master bedroom, which is great. Prior to them putting it down, there was mold when they raised the laminate that was already there. So we bleached it and it was gone. But they did the tile after they did the carpet, and now I'm wondering if the people that put the carpet in put it down with the floor being moldy the way it was in the entrance. It has an odor which is easy to believe that they did do that, and when I called the guy after he put it in, when we realized that the entrance has the mold, he said that there was damp. So I asked him, "Why the hell would you put in the carpet if it was damp?" But overall, I'm extremely satisfied with everything except for the master bedroom closet carpet. The tile is great so I'm very happy.

I had laminate and carpeting replaced through my entire home in 2011. The original process was stellar and my salesman Kirk was fantastic. The install process was fast and extremely convenient. However, beginning in August of 2015, I was noticing gaps in between the boards of my laminate wood as well as parts where the corners of the boards were chipping and peeling/bowing upwards. Even our socks catch on these. We opened a claim 8/27/2015 and there have been installation managers and an independent 3rd party inspector to come out to my home in December. I was told we would hear back within 2 weeks. It is now April 13, 2016 and I have had to place 5-6 calls to Empire in the last day to hear that the issues are "site related."
I asked what specifically could have caused this & I was told cleaning the floor with a topical solution or water. I clean my floor with a dry Swiffer duster and spot clean only as needed! Additionally during our initial sales consultation, Kurt was beefing up the qualities of this floor saying that standing water on the floor up to 7 days would not damage it! HMMM... Interesting, glad I didn't test it out.
Now over the last 2 days I have spoken with customer service rep Samantha who was excellent, Jeanette who was handling my case, and Heather, her supervisor who has conveniently informed me that the gaps and chips in my floor are not within the warranty. Shocker! She did agree to replace JUST 2 boards that have gaps in them as well as one doorway transition. All this tells me is that the company is aware there is an issue on their side if they are willing to replace anything at all after the 'warranty' is over.
All I want is for my floors that cost $12387 in cash to be repaired properly! No one will return my phone calls to even help me resolve this issue. I want the boards that are gapped, chipped, and bowed to be replaced. I would love to be able to keep the same exact floor. I just want it to remain in the condition I was promised, especially considering that I obliged by all care suggestions. The attached pictures aren't even all of the gaps, chips, and bows!

We waited and received a call at 12:45 PM. When I picked up the phone, no one was on the line. I called back their 800 number and spoke with a representative about our scheduled appointment. The representative stated that we had called their company to reschedule the visit. I explained to the rep that we had not been in contact with the company since our initial call. In fact, we were told anyone involved in the decision for the choice of tiles should be present for the appointment so my wife had to take the day off from work to keep the appointment.
At that point in the conversation, the representative put me on hold. When the representative returned, she promptly hung up on me without any explanation or discussion. We lost a day of work and trust in the company but maybe it's for the best. What type of a guarantee on the work could you get from an organization that conducts its business in such an unprofessional manner? This type of customer treatment indicates that the company does not deserve the business.

My wife and I ordered laminate flooring from Empire Today to be installed in our home. A sales rep came to our house and showed us several samples to choose from. We chose City View Pecan, because of its nice natural wood grain look and because it was one of the lighter shades to choose from. Our sales rep told us there was padding and a moisture barrier pre-installed and sound would not be an issue. Installation proceeded a few days later. The installation crew showed us a panel of the product they were going to install. I confirmed with the installer it was in fact that City View Pecan and he said yes. So installation began... and that was where the problem began.
The laminate flooring, one installed, looks absolutely nothing like the product we ordered. Based on the samples provided by the sales rep and our conversation with him, we expected to have a natural looking wood grain finish uniformly across the floor. Instead our living room looks like a giant checkerboard!! The laminate they installed has seemingly random lighter and darker patches/panels not even remotely close to the samples we were provided, nor were they in the sample shown to us at time of installation. It looks terrible!! When my wife got home that night she wanted to cry.
I was on the phone with Empire in less than 24 hours. They sent a new sales rep out to our house to assess the issue. Guess what? He showed up with a sample of City View Pecan of his own and it was totally different than the one originally shown to us. It was much closer to what was installed but still did not match the finished product. (By they way-Empire does not have any pictures available of an entire room finished in City View Pecan.)
When we told him we were unhappy with the product he said "I don't blame you! These dark shades aren't anywhere in the sample. I wouldn't be happy either." We also informed him there was a substantial amount of noise and creaking when the laminate was walked on. He asked to see our invoice. "Why did they install the cheap padding?" He asked. Hmm news to us. We were told we had been given premium quality padding already... "what about the baseboards?? They didn't offer those?" This went on for a while.
In any case my wife and I chose another type of laminate for a replacement. We got a call a short while later informing us that the product was all set to install... it would just be an additional $2,224 for product loss!!! Mind you the original job cost us $4,495 to begin with! The laminate we chose to replace the City View Pecan was CHEAPER than the product installed! I know they can recycle the laminate that they bring back.
Suddenly it was very hard to get anyone at Empire Today to call us back. When we finally got a hold of anyone we started getting the runaround from people who sounded like they would rather be having a root canal. They tried telling us "the laminate is modeled after real wood and that naturally has different shades in it." We sent them pictures comparing the sample to the finished product. "Well I can see some slight shading in the examples." We brought up the padding and creaking issue. "Well that is the standard and that's what was in your invoice." Buyer beware.
We are tired of excuses. We were sold one thing and given another, bottom line. This was not our fault and we should not have to pay for it. As of writing I have submitted a Demand Letter requesting refund or replacement of product with no cost. We are willing to call it even on the cheaper laminate we chose. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau that deals with their corporate office in Chicago, and intend to take this matter to small claims if Empire Today continues to be unreasonable. This morning we received a call offering to replace the flooring for just under a thousand dollars, something we still find unacceptable.
I urge anyone considering doing business with Empire Today to first do a quick Google search for reviews by previous customers. On the Better Business Bureau website alone there are more dissatisfied customers than any other. However Empire Today does seem to make an effort to respond to these complaints and fix the issues. Should they respond to mine as well and fix our issues, I will amend my review to reflect that.
We regret that your experience has been frustrating. This is not the level of service we expect for our customers. We will be following up with you to discuss the situation and work towards a resolution.

While I can't say that I've spoken directly with Empire Today since writing my review, I can say that the company appears to have issued me a discount on my purchase due to the inconveniences I experienced. The discount was approximately 35% of the amount paid to Empire Today, and I consider this to be fair recovery/compensation given the amount of inconvenience caused by Empire Today's initial lack of service and communication. I am happy with their resolution and would like to change my original rating to 4 stars given the fact that action was taken and that their carpet seems to be of high quality.
Original Review: April 11, 2016
After our in-home consultation we selected a style of carpet, agreed to a price, and paid for the new carpet and installation. When installation day rolled around, Empire showed up, moved all of our furniture, tears up the old carpet, and then realized they didn't have enough new carpet to finish the job. Empire agreed to come back 2 days later to finish the work. After two days, I get a phone call explaining that they still have not received a shipment of our carpet. After 5 days of waiting, it looks like we may actually get our flooring. We tried calling customer service but all we got was a simple apology and an offer to reschedule installation. Even spoke with a customer service manager, and nothing was done about the fact that our house is still a wreck and we can't use our master bedroom or master bathroom. Terrible service recovery. Stay far away from this company.
Thank you for making us aware of your experience. We regret that you were inconvenienced during your installation appointment. We will be contacting you soon to address your concerns.

We are extremely disappointed and appalled by the lack of professionalism and conduct on the part of Empire Today. Empire Today is a company that advertises that they are committed to ensuring your carpet and flooring installation experience is top notch and handled by qualified and experience contractors. Unfortunately communication between the salesperson and the contractors does not exist. The salesman that came to my sister-in-law's house was exceptionally well versed in selling carpet and making open-ended promises. I say this because the promises he made turned out to either have fell through the cracks or did not get the memo to the contractors.
Now whether it is true that the contractors are supposed to move furniture or not that is one of the issues. My sister-in-law made plans for my wife to be there for the installation. On the day of the initial installation the contractors told them they will not move anything. After contacting the sales rep again he assured them that he would be there on the next day to oversee the contractors to make sure that they do what was promised. But he failed to show up. The contractors did move things and installed the carpet but in doing so they ripped our couch, and throughout baseboard pieces that should have been put back in place.
The day after the carpet was installed a different groupof installers was supposed to come out and lay laminate in the kitchen. They canceled the installation and promised to be there the next day which happened to be a Saturday. On Saturday a phone call came in saying they were not coming. They called the sales rep and explained what was going on. The sales rep had no idea what was going on. Finally after a lot of hassles we were able to get someone to come out on Saturday who showed up in a personal vehicle with no intentions of installing the laminate. He gave my sister-in-law excuse after excuse on why he was not going to install the laminate.
With all this being said, I do not believe that the contractors and the sales rep cared about the mission or the history of Empire Today. Please be known that this review/complaint will be posted on all my social media sites warning my friends and family that they should not hire Empire Today to install anything. They are unprofessional in the Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.
We appreciate you sharing your sister-in-law's experience. We are unable to locate her account. Please have her contact us at customersupport@empiretoday.com, so we can help resolve this situation.
Thank you.

I will never use this company again and will continue to leave complaints everywhere on the internet, on social media, websites etc. My issue with Empire Today started Dec 2014 when the salesman showed up at my house. Went thru the estimate process... it was like buying a car, he kept calling someone to see "what he could do for us." So we finally agreed and he made us all kinds of promises such as warranty/guarantees, when the work would be finish etc. None of that "fluff" was ever lived up to. So the floor installer showed up two days before Christmas, they promised that they would be finished that day (I don't think the salesman let them know all the stuff he had promised us.) They looked to be about 12 years old but I was reassured that they knew what they were doing. (They also smelled like smoke and took many smoke breaks during their time at my house.)
Needless to say my house was tore up for Christmas and wasn't finished till after the New Year. What a horrible install experience!! A couple of months went by and I noticed that the laminate at the seams started to come up. I was told at install never call the Cust Service line at Empire, that the installers would come out to fix anything wrong. So I was given a cell phone number to call instead. Come to find out they get graded for the install. If they get too many complaints they get fired from Empire since they are contractors. So after several months go by with trying to contact the installer, I finally called the 1-800 and opened a complaint. Was promised that someone would contact me, days/weeks would go by without a response so I would call back and was told that the rec had been closed and satisfied in the computer but I had not had any kind of contact.
I did this several times and when I called back the work order/complaint had been satisfied. Finally I called in Dec and had my complaint escalated (12/08/15) which should of happened before. I was told that the install manager had just been closing the orders and no longer is employed. I got Ken the GM for the St Louis region. He sent numerous people out to inspect my floors, first the 12yr olds on Dec 12th, who accused me of using a steam mop on the floors, also said my dishwasher/refrigerator was leaking. I had a plumber come out to inspect the appliances and he could not find any leaks, so I wasted $75.00. Then a new install manager was scheduled on Jan 19th that was a NO SHOW with no call. I called the cust service line to see what the issue was and they told me the office was without power that day.
I checked the Ameren Website to check for power outages in that area and I found nothing! OKAY? So he re scheduled again on Jan 29th. (He got fired shortly after.) Another floor crew on Feb 12th, another install manager from Chicago came to my house. To make it worse the Chicago Install Manager arrived at my house before his scheduled appt time (he arrived at 4:15 and was set to be there at 4:45) started banging on the door, my daughter opened the main door slightly to try to tell him we were not home yet, but he opened the screen door and came in my house uninvited. Luckily my 10 yr old daughter had called her Dad on her cell phone, she handed the install manager the phone and my husband pleaded with the man to exit our house while she was home alone. Still trying to file a formal complaint with Empire on that situation, since my daughter has been having nightmares from the man coming in on her.
They even hired a man from 150 miles away to drive to St Louis to inspect my floors to see what the issue was. We were told then that his formal review would take a couple of weeks, I called the gentleman to see if he had finished his report and sure enough he had, so I called Ken at Empire this morning to check the status. He said the report came back that it was due to topical moisture and that he blamed it on my house keepers incompetence.
I was so livid all I could do is listen to this idiot lecture me on floor care. So I hung up and called my house keeping company, the lady did not start cleaning my house until Jan so that could not of been the problem. (Oh well played KEN well played.) So now I have an appt for a floor crew come out on Weds the 13th to fix the other issues that I have with my floors that I did not even mention before. I want a partial refund of my $4200.00 dollar that I paid for a 825 sq ft house of laminate flooring. I will continue until my issue is resolved.

We recently had Empire Today install our kitchen floor. They were very prompt about coming to the house and showing me the samples, and the man was very helpful in making the correct choice with the cabinets and layout of my kitchen. The cost was also a little lower. The choice of the material was different, so it's hard for me to compare with other brands, but I was very satisfied with it. The salesman thought that they would not be able to put some kind of vinyl underneath the sheer molding around the edge of the kitchen. But they were able to remove the molding ahead, install the flooring, and replace the molding. So I got more than what I was hoping for. They did an excellent job of it.

The saleswoman melody was awesome. I cannot speak more highly of her. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Made us feel comfortable with what was going to happen. We had 3 different product put in and did our entire house with Empire. The first crew that installed the vinyl planks were also amazing. However the crew that did the carpet and the vinyl tile were not up to the standards promised by empire. There is a crunch type sound when walking on parts of the carpet and there was gaps and bending in some of the tiles only a few days after they installed. They also left tile glue everywhere, price tags on the quarter round, trash and things moved out of the rooms outside etc. Definitely not up to the standard that was set by the first crew to come into my home.
I called empire customer service and they said they would send out a warranty person to take a look at the issues and instead they sent out the same crew that made the mistakes in the first place. They fixed the bent tiles and one of the crackle sound areas of the carpet but it's still not what we expected to get when spending this amount of money. If I chose to use empire again I would feel like I would have to hover over them to make sure the job got done correctly and neatly. It really shouldn't be that way. Really not happy with that crew. Obviously it's not every crew because the first crew did amazing work but seems to be somewhat hit and miss.

He refused to remove the old linoleum and when he installed the vinyl, the pattern old the linoleum showed through the new vinyl making it look bad. Our money has been wasted installing a new vinyl. He have practically force to install the metal bars that supposed to join the vinyl with the carpets all around the kitchen. He claimed he was not instructed to do that. He finally gave in and installed 3 new bars and one old bar. He also failed to install new 22 inches of Kove in one piece of furniture. We thought that this job was to be guaranteed.

I started trying to get new flooring in February and here we are on April 5 2016. When we first started talking with this company we had a sales rep come to the house to take measurements and give us a quote on some LVP wood flooring that we wanted to have installed in our living room, hallway and our master bedroom. Everything was going well until the 1st contractor came to our house to do the work. He stepped 10 feet into the house, lifted up a corner of our carpet and flat out said "I won't be installing anything in here until you get that tile inspected for asbestos", where he proceeded to scare the crap out of my family about the risks and whatnot involved and left. He wasn't very nice about it at all. Mind you we had already moved everything in our room and taken furniture apart to have this done.
Now I understand why he was concerned about doing the job and we quickly had the tiles checked for asbestos and contacted a abatement company to give us a quote on the remove of the tile. We were told by the abatement company after he came to the house that there was no real need to have it taken out and no real reason why the LVP could not just be placed over the top because the tiles are in good condition.
We then called empire back to discuss our options and were told that carpet would be a safer option on not disturbing the asbestos. We then had the same sales rep come back to the house and gave us another quote on installing carpet and made an appointment for it to be installed. When the second set of installers came we again had taken beds apart for 2 bedrooms because we had added a bedroom in on the carpet pricing, and removed all but the dressers and big furniture because we had paid for furniture to be moved.
Upon the guy walking in the house we had told them what we had done to make their job easier and he proceeded to tell me they don't move furniture. I wasn't very happy when I heard this but was willing to accept it if the price was removed from our contract. But upon him seeing the tile, he refused to do any work and left also. Even though it was stated in our contract that we had asbestos tile that needed to be covered and I had told the 1800 # specifically that we had the tile and was told there wouldn't be a problem because they could just reuse the old carpet tax that were already down on the flooring. We then again contacted Empire and were given an excuse that it was against the contractors policy to handle asbestos flooring at all.
Well if that was the case and it was a known fact that we had it in the first place, why would they have taken the job and wasted our time and energy getting everything ready for them? They then proceeded to tell me that they would have someone call me in 24 hours to discuss what our options were. We have paid close to $3000 for this carpet just to be put on hold again and we will have to put the beds back together and fill our dressers back up with our clothes. Just to have to do it again if they find someone to do the work. I am at the point that I want to go with another company but they are holding our money and it took 3 weeks to get the refund from the last quote they gave us from the LVP. I'm tired of being jerked around and want the carpet we paid for installed correctly. I am not happy with this company so far.

Great customer service. We shopped around and visited several stores, they all try to sell you and tell you they have the best carpet, but you can tell for yourself, just look at the back of the carpet and check out all the ratings, you know exactly what you are getting at any place just by looking at the back of the sample carpet. Be sure to keep this in mind when shopping around - one place might be cheaper because the quality of the carpet is not so good or the warranty is very low.
The easiest way to shop for carpet is Empire. They come to your house for free. They give the best price. No one could even come close the same price for the quality I choose which was almost the top of the line carpet. They have the best warranty as they stand by the carpet warranty themselves. Whatever the carpet warranty is, is what Empire will stand by so that you do not have to deal with the carpet manufacturer if ever you need to use your warranty. I would recommend Empire to anyone looking for new carpet installation and I would use them again. Even the installers are really nice people who speak fluent English and are very courteous to the customer. I was very happy from start to finish.

We tried to move our furniture as much as we could beforehand so that they could do their work, but I have more to do so they helped move up furniture. So far, our new flooring is good and it was so nice not to have to go shopping with people and run from one store to another. Everything happened so quickly and nice, and it was really great.

I called Empire today 4/4 because my carpet has started buckling or raising up from floor. I paid $4,000 for the carpet and wanted them to come and tack the small area back to the floor and was told I had to pay another $156 for them to come and fix the carpet. I have had the carpet 2 1/2 years and there are no children in the home. It is a one person household and the carpet should not becoming loose from the floor. On Saturday, 4/3/16 I called Empire for an estimate to have carpet installed in another location and they never showed up!
This was prior to me finding out that they would charge me $156 to fix the damaged carpet. The appt was confirmed on 4/2 by Empire, one showed up. I never received a phone call or anything. I found out on 4/4 that they gave me an appt but never assigned the job to any of the representatives. I don't usually complain about much, but I am very much dissatisfied with their customer service. They are willing to lose about $1,000 for 1 room of carpet for $156 repair. They have lost my business for $156 and bad customer service.

How would you like to order carpet for the office in your home and six weeks later, when you worked your tail off to be all ready, Empire calls you and tells you that they don't have your carpet and that it's out of stock? What! YOU HAD SIX WEEKS!!! I have been very happy with Empire in the past and just recently, this is my second of two installations at our home, have been very satisfied with the first install. The first one went like a breeze, but this second one, just two weeks later, has been awful. Two different people called me two days prior to confirm the install date. Then they call me the morning of and they don't have it!!! Then they can't even tell me when they will have it or when they can install it!!! "Oh sorry, we will knock off $100 off the job." Really!
Well mean time I have boxes in the Master, in the LVRM, clothes hanging in other closets, office furniture in another room for a tight makeshift office and we have no idea when they can complete this job. I worked hard around my regular job to get this room completely renovated, working until 10 at night and until nearly midnight the last two nights before the scheduled date. Now the project is totally in limbo and the plans for the day to move a lot of things back and get the house somewhat in order are shot. Who knows how long we will be inconvenienced with this. Yeah, that 100 bucks will buy us off. Now I have to wait until Monday for a call from an install supervisor to maybe hope they can do something, whenever who knows. Total disgusted with them. Maybe they need 6 more weeks!

Last year we had a decent experience with Empire, on a large flooring order. This year we decided to tackle the upstairs room by room. I placed a call, and set up an appointment for an estimate. We had a two hour window, but the company did not show. I was upset, and when I called, they offered a $50.00 discount on the reschedule. I told them I was not ready to decide if I wanted to do business with them after they wasted my time, and that I would call them back. I received a call the next day asking about the reason I canceled the appointment. I explained the situation and the person offered me a $150.00 discount on whatever offer was made for the install. I made the appointment, and the representative arrived within the two hour window on the second appointment.
We ended up choosing the same carpet in a different color, and asked about the need to move furniture. We were told that we should move what we could, and they would move the larger pieces. I signed the paperwork, and paid upfront. I hesitated, and was told not to worry. It would be easier if the installers did not need to collect the money. We set up a day for the install, and I requested a morning install if possible. Was not given a guarantee on the timing, so I left the whole day open. We moved all of the furniture out, with the exception of the three large pieces.
At 8:00 AM the next morning I began the waiting process. At 1:40 PM I texted the sales rep, who had requested we use that method to contact him if there were issues. Crickets... At 3:20, I called the customer service number, and was told they could not find the order. I immediately told them I would need to speak to a supervisor, because this was the second issue I had encountered. I was asked to hold for a few minutes while they "compiled the information" and tried to call the installation manager. After an extremely long hold, I was connected to someone, and started the arduous process of explaining my issue, only to discover that I was not speaking to a supervisor, customer service, but customer service.
I waited another 7 minutes while they got a supervisor. The supervisor also researched, and was unable to do anything for me because they have no actual paperwork on file. They do, however, have my payment. I am now in limbo, while they fiddle around and try to contact the installation manager, to have them contact me. Who knows how long we will be in limbo... I have been assured that it will be handled, but I am hopping mad, and have no idea of how long this simple project will take.

Where to begin? My experience with Empire flooring was far from acceptable to say the least! To start, we had a salesman come to our house to measure and give us an estimate. Sales pitch: I regretfully must admit that I bought-in; hook, line, and sinker. Alex really talked up the product very well and made us feel like we were getting a great deal. He also said that SmartStrand and Anso R2x are the same product. He said SmartStrand is the new name for it (found out later they are two totally different companies).
I knew I was dealing with a salesman but, I did my research on costs and I thought the ease of the purchase and the all-inclusive (tear out, installation, & disposal) was a good deal. We agreed to a price and decided to finance through their company. However; once we began to sign paperwork, the Alex told us that he needed the down payment which we never discussed. He said it was because they needed at least 10% of the purchase paid for installation purposes. I was caught off guard and questioned this, but I conceded because it went towards my purchase after all.
Installation (1st attempt): The installation workers showed up with a carpet that had a different style name than what was on our paperwork, although, the pattern was similar to what we ordered with the salesman. Because of the discrepancy, my wife informed the installer that she didn't think it was the right carpet because the name of the style was different than what was on our contract. He questioned her judgment and asked her if she knew what she purchased. She didn't argue back but requested she get what was stated on the contract. The installer made a call and said he had to go back to the warehouse to pick up the carpet listed on our paperwork. He also asked for her to clean out the garage so they could have room to work. He said he would call us with an update in regards to when he would be back. We didn't receive a call for the rest of the day.
Contact with salesman (Alex) and Empire: I called to express my frustrations about the installers not calling us back or following up with us to determine when they would be back. The customer service rep said he contacted the installers who said they left a message for us (no such message exists) and that they would be back the next morning. He also said a manager would call us back (ref #**). That did not happen. I explained to the customer service rep that I wished I had looked at the many horrible reviews before making this big purchase. He acknowledged that there were a lot of bad reviews but stated that they "always try to make it right" (turned out to be a lie).
I then called Alex and he explained that there was a "glitch" in the computer system and that name on my contract was wrong. They did bring out the right carpet (the patterns were very similar), but he understood the confusion. While talking to me, he disregarded the input error of the order and focused on the installer's bad attitude. He said he couldn't guarantee anything but that he was sure his manager would compensate us for our troubles and would send a new crew over the following day with the carpet we initially agreed upon.
Installation (2nd day): The new team of installers arrived on this day and stated they needed "Cash On Delivery" before they could start. Seriously? We had to make more phone calls and straightened that out as it was already financed. I have to say, this installation crew was friendly however, after getting to almost 2/3 of the project completed, they said that not enough carpet was ordered! We had to make more calls and apparently there's a separation in sales and installation because they both appeared to want to blame each other. The installers had to install what they had, leave the job, and travel across town to pick up the carpet. Due to the lateness in the afternoon, we agreed for them to come back the following morning to complete the install.
Installation (3rd day): Installers arrived, finished the install, and left. Later that afternoon, I finally got a return phone call from a manager. She didn't appear to initially recall the conversation we had the prior day about the shortage of carpet, but later said they sent out carpet without measuring because the cutting equipment was down. So apparently they were just sending out whatever and figuring it out later. She didn't at all seem too concerned with our overall experience, and only said she would talk to all parties involved and was sorry for the experience. I asked about being compensated for the time we had lost due to rescheduling appointments and waiting for the completion of the project. She said she would bring it up to the other managers and would call me back on Monday (never received that call). Huh, guess they aren't too concerned about making it right.
Overall: I didn't feel valued as a customer. The salesman seemed to want to sell, the installers seemed to want to install, and we just wanted new carpet. We did our part in picking out the carpet and financing our purchase. The rest should have worked itself out. Well, that's how it was presented to us at least. I'm one of those easy to please customers and I don't like to complain as long as I get halfway decent service. I would have to say Empire was far below my expectations and it's amazing to me that they continue to function with such dysfunctional internal communication and below average customer service.
Still waiting for the manager's return phone call to happen...shows how important I am. :( I would love to update my review by saying they "made it right", but I don't have much faith in that happening. I and anybody I know will not be using this company in the future. Save yourself the stress and use Lowe's or Home Depot if you want to save money. Unless you want to take your chances with a company that states they will make it right instead of getting it right (and they can't even deliver on that promise). Sorry Empire. You get a thumbs down way down.

I requested for them but for whatever reason this last time we got somebody else and I wasn't pleased with that. The second carpet wasn't installed to my liking, I called the salesman up because I wasn't sure what to do. There is a seam that was open and it didn't close, he said that he would take care of it and he did. Then, they called me and then they sent somebody out. They took care of everything expeditiously. I called Customer Service and they gave me an email address that does not accept delivery "customerservice@empire-today.com". How can you cancel the contract in writing via email without the company being upfront with the proper address? ***Buyers BEWARE***

A friend of mine got carpeting from Empire Today and he gave me a reference. I was pretty impressed by what he had, so that's why I went with Empire Today for my carpets too.

When I called Empire Today, everybody was very friendly. The saleswoman who came out to the house had a lot of samples and explained things to me. That was the main reason why I went along with them. The installers did an absolutely beautiful job and I was very happy with it. I also like the color of my carpet. My experience was fabulous.

We looked at a couple of different places. A person from another company came here and was pushing us to hurry up and make a decision, and it upset my husband and I. It was the reason why we didn’t go with that company. We enjoyed the gentleman from Empire Today. He earned our business because he was knowledgeable, very polite, and seemed like a very nice person. He showed us the different flooring and didn’t try to rush us through to make a decision. The two guys who installed the flooring were respectful, very nice and sweet young men. They knew their job and did it quite well. We love the new flooring. It’s perfect.

My husband and I paid over $3000 to have two bedrooms redone with laminate wood flooring. The initial sales rep (Zavier?) was polite and knowledgeable about the flooring and installation. My husband signed a contract on an iPad and was NOT told that if we did not remove the old baseboard, the installer would put a 3/4 inch round WHITE QUARTER ROUND (that is basically cheap compressed cardboard) where the floor meets the baseboard. The baseboard and floor is dark brown!!! It looks absolutely horrible. My husband tried contacting the customer service twice by phone and once by survey before he finally received a callback.
The callback was 4 days after the initial call. To say that we are very disappointed that a company that regards itself as "highly recommended" is an understatement. I understand that we signed the contract, but the sales rep and company was not forthright in their product. I would not recommend Empire to anyone.

My nephew got carpet through Empire Today and got a really good deal. So my sister and I decided to have laminate flooring installed by Empire Today. I liked the standard color they offered me and that they were the lowest in cost.

Empire Today was a more established company over different flooring companies so we had them install our rugs and hardwood floor and my wife loves them. We worked with two different sales people and they both did wonderful jobs. We really wanted to stay with the original fellow, but he was out of town and we wanted to get it done faster. So they sent out another lady and she followed up and did great work. She said that when we're ready to do more, just give them a call. I'd recommend Empire to anyone that I talk to if they ask me.

Empire Today was wonderful. We got the carpet from them and we were really pleased with it. We were looking for someone then to give us a decent price for good quality carpet. I also talked to a friend who had theirs done. Then, I called Empire. So, they came out and showed me different carpets that they had. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. In fact, I already have. I'm satisfied and we had a very good experience.

The quality of the carpet seemed similar to other brands, but the cost was considerably cheaper that's why I went with Empire Today. It has not been installed yet, but the carpet is soft and looks good. I like it.

The guy who came out was very kind. He showed me exactly what I wanted to see as far as my sample. And when they came out and did the carpet, they did a great job. The only problem that I have is there's a difference between the height level of my carpet and the tile. I wished they would've put some kind of wood or ramp or to help make that separation not so noticeable. When I step on my carpet and on the tile, my feet are on two different levels.

Compared to other brands, I got a better deal through Empire Today. The salesman talked me into it. He was very good and he knew his stuff. I like the color of the rug I got. It was middle-grade, neither expensive nor cheap, and the salesman said it was comparable to the rugs that I already have. Everybody at Empire Today did wonderful.

Empire's salesman was wonderful and the guy who laid our carpet was excellent. Our experience with them was great so we referred our friend, and she put a carpet. We were supposed to get $100 for that referral but we never saw it yet, not a penny. She gave them all the information - name, our address, everything, which was enough because we did our carpet and we don't have to call them.

Two and a half years ago I had my cabinet totally redone by Empire Today and it’s what sold me on having them do the house. Last year, I had one side of my house re-carpeted. This year, I had the other side to match. The installation was wonderful and it looks beautiful. I even saw somebody’s house on television today and they had the same dark blue carpeting. So it was great. Their installers were nice and cleaned up very well.
However, I had ordered blinds for the master bedroom and kitchen because the ones I have are falling apart. It was on the 26th of February. Last week or the week before, I finally got a hold of somebody and found out they no longer do them. I had my attorney call them to make sure that they weren’t going to come up with them and say, “Oh by the way, here are your blinds” and meanwhile, I got them someplace else. It seems to be squared away. But I was disappointed that neither my representative, who I used twice before, nor Empire Today called me to say that they no longer stocked that product and so I wouldn’t be getting them. Other than this, I’m really happy and would definitely recommend their carpeting.

We've used Empire Today for carpeting twice and they've done a good job for us both times. We went to one of the big-box like Lowe's and couldn't get a price out of them because nobody knew anything about the carpeting, so we called Empire again. And they did a great job and everybody likes it. If we ever need it again, we'll call them.

We had the engineered hardwood put upstairs and the luxury vinyl tile put in our great room downstairs by Empire Today. We had looked around a bit at Home Depot but we thought we’d deal with them again because we were pleased with them when we had used them about 13 years ago when we moved into our home. We love having hardwood throughout the whole house now. It’s so much easier to clean and looks so much nicer than carpet.

I had bamboo flooring installed by Empire Today for my daughter. I had just had my two rooms done. They didn’t give me any discount on the bamboo just as their ad had said. The first man from Empire Today was so personable but the salesman wasn't very accurate. This man acted like it was another sale and it was over $7,000. He miscalculated and had to come back another time and add more to it. But I didn’t think much of the salesman and we're very satisfied with the floor They did a very good job.

I’ve had Empire Today several times and they installed our flooring and carpet. Between the sales guy and every time I get a flooring installed, I always ask for the exact same crew because they are like artists. They were perfect. The sales guy was very comfortable to talk to and did not oversell. He listened to what I wanted and gave me some options. He even suggested that if they didn’t have the flooring, Home Depot or somebody else might have it. Cost was a little better than other brands.

I deal with tons of vendors on a daily basis as I am a Property Manager and Empire Flooring has been the worst company I have EVER dealt with. They show up without calling, they will not give me the installer phone number so I would make sure we would be there the same time since the property is vacate. One day I had to call in 6 times and I still had a no show installer after my assistant was at the property for 2 1/2 hours waiting. The owner called me and stated that they would be there at 9 am on a Thursday and then I get a call from Empire which I was shocked because they never call back to inform me that the installer would be there between 9-11 which is different than what they told the owner. I ask Lisa with Empire if they were going to pay my assistant for the 2 hours she has to wait, so I told her I need a better time so she tells me to have her there at 10:30 with a attitude. Please never use this company.

Just had their estimator stop in to give me a quote $6100 for 1200 sq feet and this was their 50% off carpet. When I asked him to print me a copy or send me an email he said they don't give "quotes" out. I promptly asked him to leave. How on earth do you give a price but don't have the balls to print the customer a copy? Empire Today lost my business and hopefully yours as well.
