Empire was definitely better-priced than other companies and they exceeded my expectations. From the person that received the phone call to send somebody out to show us the wares to the guys that did the work, the whole experience from beginning to end was very satisfactory. The initial guy presented the different fabrics and it wasn’t a rushed job, while the guys that came out to lay the carpet did very hard work and they did over 130 yards of carpeting. I’d definitely go with Empire again and recommend to anybody that needs carpeting.

We contracted Empire to replace our carpet. At first everything went well, the salesman came out and met with my wife and I. They even did a price match. When the installer showed up that is when is all fell apart. The installer told that it was cheap carpet, there would be a large seam that I would be able to see and the padding was just ok. He then told me he had better carpet and would show me samples. If I liked it I could cancel my Empire order and he would be down next week to install the better carpet. I called Empire and told them what was going on, I kicked the installer out. He then stood in front of my house until I went outside and got him to leave. Empire said they would call me back, that was at 1100 AM. I am still waiting for the call back. Completely disappointed with this whole situation.

We had carpeting installed by Empire Today in the family room and in the computer bar area of our home. Empire offers good quality at a reasonable price, and it was easy and convenient with them. We liked the color of the carpeting. We previously had one room done in the color that we selected, so we decided to go with that color as a theme throughout the house, and we'll also be doing the living room area and the hallway in the summertime this coming year. However, there were some issues in getting a call back. We even tried to call the salesperson who sold us the carpeting, but he never returned our call. Nevertheless, with the exception of the call back issue, it was fine overall with them.

Recommendations and the price of Empire Today's products were the reasons why I chose them. The carpet was installed in the second floor of my home and is much better than the ones in other companies. The coloring is also perfect. The carpet is great and my experience in getting it was quick and easy.

I had Empire Today install some carpeting in the great room of our home and in one of my offices. I like our new flooring's durability. The great room is fairly 30 by 30, so it’s a giant room with a giant fireplace and all floor to ceiling windows. It is two stories high and it’s spectacular. It’s a gathering place, so the carpeting has to be very durable. I got Berber which was the same type of carpeting I had done beforehand, but this was a little different and it’s certainly brand new and there are no stains, tears, and holes. I’m very pleased. The idea of using Empire was very simple. I can get carpeting anywhere, but the fact that I picked out the carpeting on a Tuesday and it was installed on a Thursday was very impressive. In fact, they were going to do it the very next day, but I couldn’t be around for that. Overall, my experience has been convenient, friendly, and excellent.

I got one of the top throw-down rugs that Empire had and I'm happy with it so far. I like it in the hallway and in the closets and how the installers did the seaming. I can't tell where it began and exited so they did a very good job. Even the gentlemen that came out were very nice. I had trouble with my card but they were patient with it, plus they were very courteous. The best thing was I held them off twice because I thought I wasn't ready for them. Then I had to do some other things and I asked them if they could wait a little more. I took out my fireplace but I haven't even taken the wall down so I wanted to clean the mess first and they worked with me on that.

The installers did not like the idea that we wanted to pay half up front and half upon completion. Refused to rip out soiled carpet (which it is pretty bad pet stains) in one area of the stairwell. However, instead of telling us this was a concern and giving us the opportunity to pull it up, they put the new carpet back in the vehicle and drove away. Multiple calls to Empire customer service did not resolve a thing. "We can reschedule" they said (not sure how that would work when they would not do it in the first place).
In the meantime all my furniture is stored in the garage and it's three weeks until the holidays. "We can have the president call you" (which he never did). No one would resolve the issue as to why the installers did not tell us the concern and allow us to correct. They showed up at 2:30 for carpeting 3 bedrooms, a hallway, and two stairwells, my thoughts, they just did not want to work late. DO NOT use this company if you want any type of professional response or quality product.
We are disappointed to know that your experience was not a great one. We understand that you have decided to cancel your order. If you continue to have questions and/or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com.

We have most of our home done with Empire Today. I received 2 mails telling me that if I referred someone and they gave them our Reward number at the time of appointment and installation I would receive $100. This was all properly done, however I never received the money. I was told on 11/14/16 the $100 was in the mail, never got it. I called local office and they said they can't help me! What!!! So, I talked to corporate and they implied that it wasn't done properly with the reward number being given at the proper time. That is a total lie! We did everything in the way and order that they instructed. They do not stand by their word, and I WILL NEVER USE EMPIRE TODAY AGAIN! Nor will I ever refer anyone to a company that says and promises one thing, but then totally turns around and doesn't fulfill their promises. A total rip-off company, do not use them! I am also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for false advertising!
We appreciate you making us aware of this matter. We will investigate further and will be in contact with you soon.

Empire installed commercial flooring in November 2014 when I renovated a retail space for new tenant. Upon my first meeting for an estimate, I pointed out that the floor was irregular due to a structural addition. They assured me that the combination of the high-end materials I chose and proper subflooring and installation would ensure a smooth floor. Within 6 months, the flooring cracked. A representative said it cracked because of the sub flooring. I said yes because sub flooring was incorrectly installed. Flooring then installed the second time - they assured me sub flooring was adjusted so floor should be fine. After 2nd installation I pointed out that the sub flooring was NOT adjusted - could still see same irregularity in the floor. So 6 months later, it cracked again. Short story: Flooring was installed THREE times - all with the same result. Dangerous floor cracking in a retail store - perfect trip and fall scenario.
After third installation they said they would no longer honor their warranty/guarantee. BUT it was never properly installed. And I am exhausted from dealing with Empire. After initial purchase, each and every time you need to contact them for any reason, you are on hold endlessly and then transferred from one party to another. The ONLY person who was professional was the adjuster. All other employees and installers are unprofessional. Empire's commercials lead you to believe they save you money. I would have been far better off to pay a reputable company more for a better job. Now two years and three installations later, I'm left having to have the job entirely redone. I'm completely out-of-pocket for this installation, and in addition have wasted too much time. Their workmanship and materials are shoddy. Steer clear!

Sales person was on time and showed us a variety of products. Gave us decent price. Problem with deposit. Got billed twice for $2800. Sales manager corrected but took a couple of weeks. Promised an additional $100 off. Ceramic tile installation was good. Grout seems to be two colors - supposed to be malt color, but is very light in some places. Carpet installer was strange. Kept telling me what a good job he would do and then totally messed up the corners of the room and along the base of closet. Then was angry with me because I complained. Carpet is still shedding from the dull knife he used. Installation worse than the old stuff he took out. Carpet is not soft and is more like a twine texture on feet. Tile is nice and really love it!

I own a construction company and decided to use Empire Today for the carpet install of a basement project. This was the first time and the last time I will be using them. The one reason I was using them was because they said they could get it done faster than the other companies and I was willing to pay $.70 more per square foot to have it done faster for the client. The night (7:48 p.m.) before I get a call from them saying they aren't going to be able to install it tomorrow. When questioned the guy couldn't even give me a logical answer as to why. Being in business I know the first thing not to do to people is lie to get their business and change things on them. When they finally showed up to do the work I was told it would be first thing in the morning. Not true either. They didn't show up on time and the work didn't even start until 10:50 a.m. I wish I never would have used them as they have been nothing but a headache.

About 4 years ago I had new carpet and padding installed in my home. Sometime later I noticed welts in the carpet. I called and told them about this and they sent someone out for a charge of $125.00. The representative fixed part of the problem but not the entire problem. He said that would go away or flatten out. Of course that did not happen. I recently had my carpet cleaned. The carpet shampoo man said "there is something wrong with the installation of your carpet. I am afraid it will detach from the wall. It is too short or something".. Well, that never happened... thank goodness. I have been in contact with customer service several times since June about this and they keep saying they need to escalate it. The issue is never resolved. I love the carpet but I have bad installation and poor customer service. This has gone on far too long. It needs to be resolved.

The installers who came out were nice and clean-cut young men. All in all, the experience was good.

I had Empire Today install carpets and a floating floor. They've done my flooring in the living room, dining room, hallway and stairway on the carpeting upstairs. I also had them install vinyl tile flooring in the bathroom downstairs. I thought about other brands, but what I liked was that they came to the house and brought samples. Also, their prices sound fairly reasonable. They do a lot of advertising, and I figured if they were that bad, I'm sure they would have been nailed by now. I had a very positive experience with Empire Today all the way around and have no complaints. I had one issue and they followed right up on it and took care of it. I would recommend them.
However, I would like very much to get some material on the care of my carpeting and wood floors. I know it's available online but that's just not very acceptable. It would be nice if Empire provided me with information on their specific flooring and carpeting and how to care for it. Many of us are not computer people. We have computers but don't want to do all that online. We like to have that material just readily available. It would be good to give a consumer full information on the product they're purchasing at the time they purchase it without having to go online.

I looked around at cheaper stores like Floor & Decor and Empire Today was a lot more expensive but I feel like we got a much better quality product from them. I also thought that I could trust the person that came in to install our flooring. They installed vinyl flooring that looks like wood in the living room and three bedrooms of my home. It's very pretty and all in all, we were well pleased with it. I like it, the color goes real well in here and it's non-slip. My 95-year-old mother and I live together and we feel like it's safe. We used to have carpet in here but I have little pets and that was not working very well. I also feel like the vinyl flooring is healthier for our breathing. I'm happy I don't have the carpet. It doesn't seem congested in here and everything is easier to control.
The man that put the flooring in told me what his plan was and how many days it would take him. Being in a mobile home, the flooring was not perfectly smooth so he had a pretty big job to do to get that vinyl in. But he did a very good job. The lady that calls for me talked to him and called me to make sure who did it. She told me that somebody came out and gave her an estimate and that she wasn't pleased with that person. I assume they had a little bit of an attitude or something. I told her that my experience was good so she's probably going to call them again. Overall, Empire Today was very professional and it's my understanding that the product's guaranteed for life. I hope that's right.

Empire Today installed carpets all through my house and I love it. I’m grateful that I have new carpets because I’ve been wanting it for a long time. I have a new granddaughter and a new grandson and they can crawl over it and not get dirty so I’m happy with it. Empire did a fantabulous job. I made my order and the next day they were here. I didn't have to wait. And they were here before I was even awake. They were sitting outside in the truck at 8:00 which was on time. I was shocked that they got my whole house except the kitchen and the bathroom done in the short period of time that they did. It only took them a couple of hours and they did a great job in every inch of the house. It was awesome and I was really impressed. They even moved my furniture for me which was great because I couldn’t move it. I had a great experience and I have already recommended Empire to a couple of my friends.

I had carpeting installed in three bedrooms and tiles in two bathrooms by Empire Today. I’m new to the area and a couple of people had recommended them. Their salesman pretty much sold me on it. He showed me a lot of different options and was fairly honest. I like him and was comfortable with him. The installers were very respectful. I’m elderly and I move as much as I could. I had no problem moving things around and they’re very courteous about it. They were also very neat and cleaned up behind themselves. However I found a few things wrong that I didn’t see at the time and I wish they had pointed them out to me.
I have hardwood in the hall and the strip that goes between it and the carpet in the bedroom is broken. I can replace it but it'll be quite expensive. Also, I wasn't too happy with the quarter round trim in one of my bathrooms that they’re supposed to put back together. It has some kind of warping in the base of one of my cabinets. I also saw one small hole in the wall where they hit the wall with my headboard of my bed when they put it back. But it was small and I was able to fix it. Then there were a few marks on the walls from the carpet but I expected that. It’s not gonna be hard to deal with.
I’d recommend Empire Today, but when they’re done, people should really look at their work closely and make sure there’s nothing that might have to be corrected, which Empire would have done had I said anything. It’s a long day ahead and I am sure they were ready to get the heck out.

I needed the carpet installed within a couple of days, and everybody else were saying that they could install the carpet in six weeks to three months out, and I was totally shocked at how long it would take. So I went with Empire. The lady who came to measure, as well as the installers, were great. We've only had the carpet for a month or so, but it looks nice.
The only thing I'm disappointed about is the comfort of the carpet. My number one priority was cleanliness and I wanted something that's going to hold up well. When the lady from Empire was here, I was talking all about cleanliness and she kept telling me about urine-proof padding for the carpet. I said, "That sounds great." So, I stepped on it for a second, and I said, "It's not that comfortable," but she said that most of the padding aren't comfortable because they need to be firm. I have one pet and chose a padding that would protect against urine, but I didn't realize how hard or firm it was going to be. There's zero comfort when I walk on it. I've walked on more comfortable carpets than this. But it's not like I'm gonna get a new carpet any time soon, so I'm gonna have to live with this until the next time.

I had Empire Today do the upstairs of our home years ago so we recently had them work on our big kitchen floor way, hallway, and inside the closets, plus I had a rug installed in my living room. I'm happy with the color of the linoleum and I like the stain-resistant rug. I'm happy with the work Empire did, but it took three times to get the front foyer straight. My floor near the door is humped up a little bit more than where it actually shuts at. So when the door is opened all the way, it hits the floor a little bit. I told the installer to not put another piece of the luan down because it's gonna be too high and the floor will hit. But he kept going and finished it all up, so when I open the door, it hits. His solution was to take the door sweep off the bottom of the door. It fixed the problem but I was thinking that the door sweep was there for a reason.
After the installer left, I could see upon sitting down on the couch that daylight and little leaves were starting to blow in. So he came out again and took the luan and linoleum back up. He glued them all down and the outcome looked really good except it wasn't centered or even. The line going on one side was about four inches while the other side was eight inches. So my girlfriend called Empire back for them to straighten it out. We paid a lot of money to have the work done as we wanted it done right. So the gentleman came back, did it again, and this time I was really happy with it. I told him, in a good way, that I hope I never see him again.

I was pleased with the salesperson. But in the last 3 months I just noticed signs that the carpet was not a tight fit to the floor. This room is not used a lot but for special occasions as it is a rec room. We spent a lot of money on this carpet and it should not be rippling in three different areas. I called Empire and told them about this and they said I was only covered for one year. This carpet is almost 2 years old but no way should this have rippled. We have no kids and there is hardly any traffic in that room. They said they would come out to stretch it but it would cost me. That is not good business practice in my mind and I will never use Empire again. I will be sure to tell my friends my bad experience with Empire.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the unacceptable level of service of The Empire Today Company. Below is a brief timeline of my un-endingly frustrating interactions with them:
We have signed a contract that The Company would replace my floor carpet with hardwood floors. The scheduled date was November 8th. I spent quite a bit of time and effort moving the furniture around; and all was ready on November 6th. On November 8th - nobody showed up! Only the next day they called and "canceled" the previous day's visit! The next available day they had was only November 18th. That meant that for the next 10 days I had to live in the place turned upside down. On November 18 they came; and did an OK job - definitely *not* a top quality work - but only finished it about 80%! They ran out of material; and said they would need to come another day to finish the job.
They showed up on November 23; I had to miss a half a day at work. Did they have the right material?? Of course not. Another day of my life wasted on these incompetent people. Now they said they would reorder the material and come back on November 28 or 29. This is a dry re-telling of the timeline. As you can imagine - *every step* of this saga was accompanied by my repeated attempts to get in touch with someone. Needless to say - nobody ever picks up at any of their numbers. If they do - they cannot resolve any issues; and just take a message. The messages are not returned for hours, or days. The customer support is practically non-existent. My house is still a non-livable mess; I have no idea when this disaster is going to be over.

I've been using Empire Today for years. They did my floor in my den and they're eventually going to do my basement in the spring. Their sales rep was fantastic. I had picked out two floorings which I both love. I'm putting one downstairs and one upstairs. I used the rep's expertise and asked him which one would look more appropriate with the color of the furniture that was coming from Raymour & Flanigan. The flooring he picked was perfect.
Raymour & Flanigan did not take the tacks off the bottom of the settee and it went through the brand new carpet. I called Empire and I told them what happened because I didn't know if it was Empire or not. The guys from Empire came immediately. I never saw people work so busily. They were prompt, on time, and were just unbelievable. The two guys got down on that floor, popped the thing up then said that it wasn't them. Raymour and Flanigan never took the pegs off the bottom. It was terrible. They want me to take pictures so I could send it to their manager and they will come and fix the floor. Also, if it was their fault, they were willing to pay for it. I love Empire Today. I'm very pleased with them and have always recommended them to my friends.

I had Empire Today install carpeting. The gentleman that came out to talk to me was very informative. He quickly cleared up any doubts or questions I had. The two gentlemen that installed my carpeting were excellent. They kept me informed as to how long it would take. We had to step away for a minute because my husband is on dialysis. But they continued to do the work. They were quite comfortable with being at the house. I was quite comfortable with them being there.
They were courteous and helpful. They were moving stuff. All I had to do is make the way clear for them. They were considerate and cleaned up so fantastically well. I had a great experience and I will continue to do it over again. I didn’t have the finances to do my whole house. But when I've paid this up, I will be in touch with them again. I was excited, overwhelmed and very satisfied.

Do not waste you time, effort, or money! I have been fighting with Empire for a month trying to get my carpet job fixed that needs completely redone and they continue to give me the run around. I have been home 4 times with someone suppose to come and no one ever shows up. I paid over $4800 for a rushed crap job. An installer came today to try and fix the problems and only found more problems and could not fix anything because the original installer cut all the material short, very short. The installer actually advised me to contact BBB.
I have many pictures to provide and can even view the terrible work still currently in my home. I can lift the carpet right off the floor and have many places missing carpet and padding. If you want an honest opinion about this company, this is it. I have never in my life wrote a review and now am going out of my way to ensure I get refunded. I have even contacted news stations. Do not I repeat do not fall into this scam like I did. I work hard for the money I earn and it feels like I was stolen from. Below is evidence that I am not making this up. Each photo is a different area in my home.
Updated Response 12/11/2016: A few weeks ago I posted pictures and a review about my terrible experience I was having with Empire. And I am happy to say that Empire completely came around to fix the problems. They replaced my entire house with new carpet and the installer was amazingly hard working and kind. He took his time and did a beautiful job. Empire even went as far as providing a refund as well. It is nice to know that if something goes wrong they get you taken care of.

I had the living room and bedroom in carpet and then I had a dining room, family room, and a little tiny hallway done in the laminate by Empire Today. The salesman that came out to the house was well informative, honest and very nice. I wanted bamboo flooring and that’s what I had set out for. And he explained to me the pros and cons about having it done in our climate. He told me that if I want it done, it could be done but it was much more expensive and it wasn’t practical. I really like the laminate done by Empire Today and I wish I had the whole house done in the laminate. It looks like hardwood flooring. And it's easier to take care of and it makes our room look so much larger. It's also easy to clean.
The installers were really good. However, they had to come out and do one thing. It was in a doorway, and on each side of the door at the bottom, they didn’t put the shoe molding. I called and I thought they forgot it, but he said they normally didn’t do it but they would do it if I was requesting it. So they did that and it took them about 15 minutes and they were out of here.
Now, the ends where they join it and put it together, I have found a couple of places when I would be walking and I could feel like it wasn’t quite down like it should be. I have not called them back because I have looked, hunted, and got down on my knees, and thought maybe it's settling. I’ve slid my feet across the floor and I'm not finding them. I had two spots that I have found that, and I can't go back and find them. But the guys that came out here were really fantastic. They came in and knew what they had to do and they handled it. I really had a great experience with Empire Today and I would definitely recommend them to anybody. I had Sears come out here three years ago and they did my kitchen floor, my utility room, large bathroom, and a small bathroom. And I didn’t like the experience with Sears at all.

On Monday I had received a call from the local manager and he made it sound like I was the one that wasn't available for the appointment. I have 2 days off a week and I am an Owner/Operator so I have long days and on my days off there are things that I need to get done not to be waiting around for someone who doesn't even show up screwing up my whole day.

Empire Today has done carpeting in our whole house except for our hardwood floor. My son loves it, I love mine, and then we have a piece in the hall. The installers were awesome. The guys came in, moved what they needed to move out of the way and started laying down the carpet. They must have been finished in an hour. What I was happy about is that they cleaned up before they left, and that was good. Adding to that, the price is fair. I love their 50/50/50 all.

Empire had the 50/50/50 deal which I thought was pretty reasonable, that's why we went with them. We had them install LVT tiles in our foyer and kitchen while the hardwood is in the living room. I like the style and color of the LVT. But I was irritated that the laminate is dark wood but doesn't have a shine to it. For the LVT installation, there was guy who was supposed to come out before they lay the laminate down but he didn't make it out here. Empire said he couldn't find the place. If he has GPS, I don't see how one couldn't find it. Nevertheless, I was very pleased with the work of the last crew that they sent. They stayed busy until they got the job done. On November 1, 2016 I sat down with the Salesman from Empire Carpet to order carpet for my 3 bedrooms. He told me to choose a date, any date for installation. I chose November 15. I figured this would give me time to clear out all the excess from the floors of the rooms and have it all put back together before my grandchildren arrived on Friday the 18th for me to babysit for the weekend (They are 1 and 3 yrs old). On November 14, Empire called me to see if I could change my install date and I told them absolutely not.
On the morning of November 15, I set my alarm to get up early and again remove linen from the beds etc before they arrived. At 9 am they called to say they had to cancel because one of the installers had called in sick. I told them I did not believe them because they had called the previous day to cancel me. They gave me a new date of November 18. Since the kids would not be here until 330 I took the appointment. On the 18th they again called after I got up with my alarm to tell me that they did not have enough installers. I was so upset. I contacted the salesman and he text me a number and extension to call for a new appointment. He told me this was unacceptable and he was trying to get in touch with his boss and he would get back in touch with me. I have never heard from him again.
I called the appointment desk and they gave me the day after Thanksgiving. November 25. I canceled all Thanksgiving plans for my house and we stayed home by ourselves because we could not drive to my daughter's house 3 hours away and be ready just in case they showed up on Friday. It says on the contract in bold letters. HEAVY FURNITURE. One installer showed up this morning. Very nice person. This has been the only experience that I would rate with 5 stars. The installer is great. They are contracted out and not employed by Empire. NEVER AGAIN. No returned calls, I called and text everyday for confirmation and none received. I asked how the seams could be installation and not a failure of the product and was told they are and there is nothing they can do.
I continued to speak to supervisor etc all with no solutions other than they would offer me a discounted rate of $491 to come and re-stretch the carpets however this would not solve the seam issue. I am extremely disappointed that the carpet I spent over $7,000 dollars would last less than 2 years in rooms that are very low traffic (master bedroom and a den). It's only right to preface this by saying the two independent contractors that came out to do the actual work were very good. If they had their own businesses, I would review them separately and give them high marks. But Empire Today, as a company, is unprofessional and generally horrible. My girlfriend and I bought our first house recently and wanted some carpets replaced and some laminate flooring put in. We spent 4K, and scheduled to have it done on a specific Saturday, before our big truck move in. We were told the workers would show up early that morning, and they'd call when they were 20 minutes out. Our workers called that morning and were there good and early. However, they were only the laminate crew... The carpet crew was separate (a detail not provided by Empire).
The laminate crew were great; the only issue was they were told the wrong trim type by Empire, so they had to go to Home Depot to get the right kind. Not a huge deal. After a couple of hours, no word from the carpet people, so we called Empire. It was then, and only then, that they told us the carpet crew wouldn't be coming until Tuesday. The fact that we had to call to get this information is unacceptable.
Furthermore, when dropping 4K to have stuff done on a specific date, you expect to have it done on that date. Instead, when we moved in the next day, we had to keep the bedrooms empty so when the carpet people could come, they could get the work done. When talking with customer service that Saturday, they were completely unhelpful and flip the entire time. It's the downside of big business... They just don't have to care. And they didn't. They failed at providing what we had asked for and paid for. So if you're thinking about getting some floor work done, I implore you: go with Lowe's, Home Depot, or a local business. Empire Today is the worst.

I'd recommend Empire Today. In fact, I went to seven different places, both those that I was familiar with and some new ones, and I never found what I was looking for. So, after doing the footwork for a while, I decided to try Empire and see if they have what I was looking for and sure enough, it was there. The two salesmen who came out were friendly and knowledgeable. My only complaint is in the communication between the salesman and the installers. I redid the house into an open concept and it had Pergo tiles and carpet in strange transitions. I made it very clear to the salesmen that I didn't want any transitions, and they saw how open concept the floor to the house was.
When the installation people walked in the door and saw how open floor it was and I said I didn't want any transitions, they said they can't do it. I told them that they had to figure out a way to do it because it's what I wanted. They called back to home base and then we settled for one transition and tried to fit in the other. They gulped at first but then they figured it out and it turned out very well. It was one of the simplest ways I've ever done a new floor in any house before.

I have been working with an Empire Today CSR named Suesan ** on the problem of my estate living/Harvest oak laminate wood flooring. It is warped & bowed on the edges & sides. Since this process started on 10/28/16 I've been told to: take pictures & send them to her which I DID in less than a hour. I was told it was water damage & I should have a flooring company come out & test it with a moisture meter. I DID not feel that was my responsibility.
After researching the product, I have found it has a number of quality issues. I sent her this: "Suesan I have been researching this product online & see a number of problems like mine." It is obvious with so many complaints that this is not water damage done on my part. I would like to know if Empire will stand behind this product & make things right.
Then I was told a inspector would come out to look at it today 11/11/16 between 11 & 3 pm. When checking with her this morning I was told his van broke & he couldn't ride his motorcycle out to inspect the flooring. Then Suesan ** said she couldn't get anyone out till 11/21/16 & she would normally have a charge for this inspection & the installation was only covered for one year. I told her I had no problem with the installation, my problem was with the quality of the material & felt Empire should stand behind their product.
I have found Empire Today's CSR Suesan ** very difficult to work with & feel that 4 weeks to get someone to look at this problem is ridiculous. After all the entire process from sale rep to finial installation only took a week! Anything you can do on your end to speed up this process would help me greatly. I was a big fan of Empire Today until this issue came up with the flooring & the way it's been handled by your company.

I also had them do the tile flooring in my kitchen, but I wouldn't do it again because when the salesman showed me samples, I thought my floors were gonna be the same, large and thick squares that looked nice for the same price. However, it turned out that it wasn't. I was glad about the thickness because I have laminated wood on my den and kitchen floor, but the quality was different. I wasn't impressed by the way they cut the flooring across and put that big, old, ugly strip on there. I didn't think they would do that, but their guy said it had to be done to hold it down. Also, I told my husband that it wasn't the right color. It's down neat but I don't like the coloring. I got a couple more rooms I was gonna do.
I was gonna let them do my carpeting in the spring but I'm afraid they'll show me some carpeting and then when they come back, it's not gonna be the same thing. If somebody would ask, "Who did your floor?" I'd say, "Empire did. If you want it, call Empire," and that's it. I wouldn't say, "Call them up and get them."

Bea was excellent in following through with her promise of us finally getting our carpet installed. Our installers Angel and Juan were professional and were extremely detailed-oriented. On another note, I believe the problem lies with the people who are making the appointments who are housed in Texas, and the warehouse (ours is in New York.) In closing, I would definitely use Empire again because of their stellar work!

I had Empire Today install carpeting in my home. They have better quality carpet so I went with them. In fact, the carpeting is good, and I like it. Their sales representative was very good and professional. The first installers were good, but they scratched up my table really bad. The second ones were really good, and I requested them again because they were so efficient. The third ones were okay. The fourth ones were also okay, but they knocked one of my nightstands and the bulb off of it, and they didn't tell me. I happened to see it later on in the evening after they had gone.

The guys that installed the carpet were excellent. But after I had the carpet installed, I saw an Empire advertisement on TV for a pretty hefty discount of 50%. And when I called to inquire about it, they said that the carpeting that I purchased did not qualify for that. But the advertisement was perfectly clear. It seemed to me that it applied to all kinds of flooring, carpeting and wooden etc. The promotion was kind of ambiguous.

I would second an existing review. I was quoted $4200 for carpet install by Empire. $2500 from Big Box home improvement store (same install). They continued to tell me that they were the only ones that can do this/that, and that their buying power got them great deals. Well, when I decided to call and cancel the next appointment, by some miracle they were able to get the carpet install down to $2400. I, too, was quoted a much higher square footage by Empire (including scraps on both quotes).
Overall, my customer experience with them has been good. They are attentive, responsive, etc. However, the process was certainly that of a well trained sales organization. As a consumer, you want to deal with an honest company that is not looking to take advantage of you. If you can drop the price that much with one phone call, where else is their hidden margin? The product is only part of the sale, if you feel like you are being taken advantage of - forget the whole deal.
We regret to hear about this. Your concerns are important to us and we will be investigating this matter further.
Thank you for your feedback.

I had a vinyl kitchen floor installed in May 2010 by Empire. Several months ago I noticed that 9-10 of the tiles had bubbles forming. Due to personal reasons, I could not address the issue until last month. After a couple of phone calls finally someone called me back to arrange for an installer to come to my house and assess the repair. I would have to pay $95.00 for him to take pictures and send them to his manager. I did that on 10-27-16. Someone was to call me. After 6 days no one called, so I had to call them and got a return call on 11-4-16. I was told the cost of the job and that they did not make the color of my floor anymore but they had something very similar. My other option was to replace the entire flooring. Empire also asked me if I preferred morning or afternoon. I chose afternoon.
On 11-11-16, Empire called to let me know someone would be there between 10-12. Due to my job, I had arranged to be home in the afternoon. I told her this and she said Empire had no control over the time the installers came out. After a few minutes of discussing this, she hung up on me. I called back 10 minutes later and got another secretary and I told her what had just happened. She seemed unconcerned and at this point we re-scheduled for today 11-17-16 and someone from Empire would call me in the morning. Now, this is the 3rd day I have taken off of work.
He arrived at 8:30 am just as Empire was calling to tell me they would be there between 9-11. He was a nice man but his English was very limited and we had a hard time communicating. He told be it would be a very difficult job and he would be re-using the existing vinyl and no guarantees. I told him that Empire told me it would be a new vinyl. He called his manager who in turn told him to tell me that I should call Empire customer service. I called, while he waited.
Then as I'm on the phone, he's telling me, easy job but no guarantees. He also told me he miscalculated, it's a 3x3 job not a 2x2 job. I told him that it was his mistake and when he took the initial pictures he didn't look at the whole area. As I write this I'm waiting for Empire to call me back. I'm so frustrated right now. No one seems to know what's going on, Empire is telling me 1 thing, and the installers another. This has been a horrendous experience not to mention the time off I have taken, communication barrier, and the rudeness and unconcern for the customer by Empire.
We are disappointed to hear that you were inconvenienced by a delay in your repair installation. We want to learn more and we will be in contact with you soon to learn more.

The salesperson was great. He was nice. He clowned around and made me feel like this wasn't something so serious and so he was really good. We had problems with the first team that came for installation so I told him I did not want them coming back and he said they wouldn't because they were out of Detroit over in Grand Rapids helping out. Then the people that we had come in the second time were fantastic. They worked really hard and kept apologizing when it took a little longer than they thought because one of the guys had to do a repair job. But they were good and cleaned up well. We had a good time with Empire Today. We can't wait to get the money put together to get the other half of the room done. I'd definitely recommend Empire Today.

The other flooring company that I used previously didn’t have a very good customer service. The guy said he would come back to look at my carpet upstairs because it's rippling but he never did. There was no point in going back to him when he didn't care about what was going on. On the other hand, my Empire Today sales rep was unbelievable. Jack was awesome and he gave me his business card. I called him when I wanted my living room and dining room done. He came out and brought me samples. I even referred him to my best friend and she had a really good experience as well.
We had our three bedrooms, family room, living room and dining room carpeted by Empire. This was done in the past year and the most recent one was in September. We had a problem with our carpet in our bedroom, though. There was this seam going through like it was an indentation from the roll from the piece of cardboard that was holding the carpet on the roll. But the installers were so good about everything and they brought the matter to our attention then made sure that everything was resolved and taken care of. They were incredible. My husband even said he hoped that we got the same installation team for any other install that we may have. Overall, Empire Today was great.

They carried out the furniture to our garage. We had everything cleared off. But the one thing is the installers were dressed in not very workmen-like clothes. I'd think they would wear a uniform, like khakis and a shirt, maybe, with the Empire logo. They looked like they walked off the street with ordinary clothes. They should be dressed more professionally. But they were nice and did the job. They installed carpeting in the living room, dining room and the hallway of my residence. Empire Today had a 50/50 sale going on and their price was really good. Their salesman, John, did the initial contact and the pricing. The experience with him as far as measuring and quoting me a price, doing all that quickly, and having the samples right there was much better than going to a brick and mortar store. John worked with me and he seemed genuinely upset when the installers did not show up although it was out of his hands.
For the first scheduled installation, I had moved all my furniture and even taken the carpet up to try to assist the guys who were coming. But they didn't show up when they were supposed to. Everything was piled and I had to sleep on the couch with my wife for a week. But they adjusted and cut the price significantly because I threw a fit. To get the rest of the carpet put in the same color, we rescheduled. Then I did the same thing again and moved the furniture with the guarantee that the installers would be there on a Friday. I had taken days off of work to be there.
Friday morning came and they called me at 8:10 in the morning to say that they couldn't make it. I was extremely upset this time and they cut the price for me again. After I went off like a raving maniac, the guy who finally got on the phone with me was decent and understood the circumstances. He's the guy that dispatches the people to do the work. The boys then came on Wednesday and installed the carpet in my home. They were in and out.
The first time it happened was okay, but the second time was inexcusable especially if it was the same person within a three-week period. If I hadn’t moved all the furniture and done the preliminary work, it wouldn't have been such an inconvenience. I took two days off of work which was wasted vacation and that's a big thing. Vacation is very important. I was discouraged with the not showing up part since I had my house in such a turmoil which was tough.
When I had read reviews about Empire online, one of the bigger complaints was about people not showing up when they were supposed to. But I like the carpet and the boys who installed it were good. They didn't take my old carpet during their visit but the young installer said he would make a trip back down on Sunday to pick it up which he did. I've got all new carpet now except one room. It's only been three or four weeks and I haven't had any problem with the carpet. I don't anticipate any problem with it too. All in all, Empire's prices are better than competitive when they're having that sale. I would still work with Empire and recommend them.

I had carpet installed for my son's room. We picked the carpet based on what my son liked. They came and installed the carpet and it looked good... later on that day I noticed the tacks were coming through the carpet on the whole perimeter. We filed a complaint. They said they would adjust the tack strip by using smaller tacks. They showed up and said all they can do is hammer them not replace them and as the installers were hammering they told me that the carpet will start to bubble by doing this... so the only way for my son to not cut his feet is to ruin the carpet job and waste my money. If somewhere along the line somebody said the carpet tacks may come through the style we got I would have purchased something different... so now when this carpet starts to bubble and needs to be replaced I will go to someone else and I would never suggest them to anyone if this is how they handle problems.

On Monday I called about having someone install carpeting on some very steep wood stairs we have (for safety reasons for a small child and two small dogs). Amazingly, they were able to get us in right away and sent someone to install the next day. Everything looked fine so they left. The first time I walked up the stairs barefoot, I stepped on a nail sticking pretty far from the tack strip and through the carpet. When I ran my hand along the step, I noticed a couple additional nails sticking up and stuck my finger on another step I was checking as well. I didn't check every stair (2x drawing blood is enough for me) but called Empire right away to see if I can get the guys back - again, this was about 40 minutes after the men left when I got ahold of someone at Empire.
The guy I spoke with was nice, said he would try to call the installer while I waited on hold. When he finally got back, he said the guys were already at their next job but he had noted this as urgent and that I would hear back from someone and they would get someone out the next day (if they couldn't get out that night). No one ever called so I followed up on Thursday morning and was told the earliest they can get someone out for repairs is next week. I did explain that I was worried about my young son and our two small dogs but apparently, repairs are not as high a priority as getting new jobs in.
In fact, the first person I spoke with said to "try to be careful on the steps" until someone could come fix it. Sure hope we don't get hurt tip toeing down the steps - we are trying not to step on anything but the furthest portion on the front of the step. Not very safe but clearly that is not a concern of Empire. Very, very disappointed. Glad I live in a new neighborhood where people are always asking for recommendations. I would tell them to stay far away from Empire - at least the way they operate in my area. In this instance, the convenience of getting someone out right away initially was really not worth the trouble in the long run.

I recently signed a contract with Empire Today for LVP flooring for 5 rooms in my home. When the crew arrived to install the flooring they first said they might not have enough materials because the salesperson (Marvin in Durham, NC) might not have measured correctly. Excuse me, but wasn't it to be expected that a salesperson would measure correctly? Next they said they might not be able to install the flooring because I might have plywood under my cabinets.
Marvin, the salesperson never mentioned this could be a problem. I called him while they waited and he said he didn't notice. He didn't notice I had cabinets? Am I the only customer who has plywood under vinyl? Nothing was resolved with Marvin, plus he kept telling me he was trying to shop with his wife. So? I was trying to get him to do his job! I'm sure the commission he made on my flooring purchase was paying for that shopping. Finally, the installers told me there was moisture under my carpet and they couldn't do the work. They thankfully left at that point.
After talking with a supervisor I set up another appointment for today to have them pull up the flooring and let the floor dry out. Imagine my surprise, after all that inconvenience, when the new crew told me there was no moisture and the plywood in the kitchen wasn't a problem! This after I had to take an additional day off work and pay a second time to board my dog!! The final straw was that they wouldn't even start today until I paid them in full for a job that hadn't even begun! Empire do you have a response? We originally contacted Empire Today for LVP to replace our hardwood flooring in DR and hallway. That night after signing the contract, I realized our stairway (which was same color as DR and hallway) would not match the new flooring. Contacted salesperson to modify order. Since they could not use LVP on stairway, we opted to carpet them (along with our LR). We also requested to have hallway done in same carpet as stairs and LR, as we thought that would look the best. Salesperson said no problem to do that. He asked us to let installers lay down carpet in hallway when they came and that he would work out the refund difference of LVP versus carpet after installation. Since the installers were already scheduled, we allowed for them to install carpet in hallway, trusting we would receive our refund quickly.
When it came time to lay LVP in DR never was advised we would run into difficulties with replacing hardwood flooring with LVP. Installers were going to lay LVP down even though it would leave at least 1/2 inch gap around baseboards and door frames. This was not acceptable to us. We halted installation that day, so we could get proper resolution. Only alternative was for us to pay an additional $300.00 (above our original quote for LVP and installation fee). We had no choice since our hardwood floor had already been ripped up. This was infuriating, as we feel this should have been disclosed in original quote. Salesperson told us he used to remodel houses, so he was quite qualified on flooring (except he failed to mention this in our agreement).
So now over a month later, I have made countless text messages to salesperson for resolution. He kept telling us he would contact customer relations and get us our refund. We even sent an email to customer service (we were told they would open a service ticket to help us resolve matter). We even followed up with phone call. No one has gotten back to us, no refund has been granted. Contacted salesperson again today, only to receive a response that he had been transferred. I replied by asking whether he had just planned to transfer and disregard finalizing an order he had opened. No reply.
Called customer service again today. They had no idea why original service request went ignored. They intended to open another one and "hoped" I'd have it resolved or at least contacted in 24hrs. She said she contacted salesperson and he said he would follow up with this as well (although he told us on 3 prior conversations that he'd get it resolved).
This is just poor customer service all the way around, from receiving misquote on LVP installation flooring, installers about to leave a gap hole all over the baseboards and door frames) to not following up on carpet refund. It's not only just 1 person... it's been several. Our account has just been severely mishandled. At the present time I cannot recommend this company to anyone I know. Very disappointed.

Empire Today did my girlfriend's wood floors and the linoleum in her home before she left five years ago. That's how I first heard about them. Then, I saw the advertisement on television. My husband selected them, but I didn't like the color and I was gonna change my mind. I had a different color in the entryway and I wanted to match that. I had somebody else I was gonna go to for a second opinion. But my husband liked that color, so we just let him go and do it. It was a thing that we had a little tipped over but I was happy with them. They were very nice. The sales representative was very understanding and helpful. The installation team was great too. We were gonna have linoleum put down in two places and I didn't like it, so we had them do the wood.

The sales rep did a very good job in evaluating my area and was really complete in telling what I would need and how it would go. I was surprised of these youthful boys who did the installation, but they seemed to know what they were doing. They are good workers and did everything they said they would do.

I recently had laminate and carpet installed by Empire. The laminate is beautiful and I love it. The couple that installed it were awesome. But the 3 guys that installed the carpet on two sets of stairs and hallway did a poor job. Looking at it it looks nice but when I went to vacuum the carpet started coming up and there was no padding underneath. Plus there are staples sticking out in places. I am very disappointed!!! The installers made a comment. They had to hurry because they had another job to go to.

Carpeting was installed in my living room by Empire Today. Their sales associate was okay. He brought in samples that were wet from his car. One of the carpets had started to mold and I didn't like that. Moreover, the installation team did fine but I can actually see where the cuts are. I’m not 100% satisfied because I can see the seams, but I'd still recommend them. They did an okay job.

He came out and showed me the carpets to see what I like. Empire Today installed cherry wood laminate floor in my home last September. They can do the whole work in a couple of hours and clean up everything, and there was the convenience of not having to buff the floor. Moreover, the cost and quality were reasonable for me. The sales associate was great. The installer was very helpful and did everything. I like the way he called me and asked, "How do you want it laid down, vertical or horizontal?" I told him, "I trust your judgment." The wood floors on the bottom were hitting each other and crossing, but he didn't just leave them that way. He made them stay in the same direction as they went into the hallway. He did this everyday and left the floor really nice and perfect.

Began with wood brought did not match what the contract specified. Took awhile to figure out the difference. Installers tried to interest me with what else they had in the truck. Then told me they would install the wood over the tile already on the floor. Had to show them contract called for removal of tile. Tile removed without protection of walls, grout and tile pieces hitting the walls. Then lead handed me the phone where I was asked to pay $100 more for taking up the tile and removal of subfloor. Lead and I agreed on direction of wood to be laid. I left to do an errand and wood was laid opposite of agreement, some of the team were showing me how unlevel the floor was by bouncing up and down on the wood. Showed me that they were using parts of cardboard boxes as shims. When I objected the team got in a fight between themselves and 1 worker left the job.
I talked with lead outside about how to use leveling compound for the floors. Then received another phone call asking for $650 for compound and extra work of taking out already laid wood. Caller wanted to negotiate $ when he found that I had no idea that the wood was laid without my knowledge. Ended up paying $550. Laid flooring in the hallway and ended up spilling toilet water over new wood when removing toilet. Broke water valve on back of toilet. Ordered pizza and laid greasy box on new floor. Workers sitting on stairs with dirty shoes and laying on floor. Had new carpeting laid the week before. Called Empire many times to complain, never got a call back. Poor professional behavior and poor install. Called sales rep as well with no follow up. Very bad experience.

Customer service has been great. Empire Today did compensate us for the inconvenience. However, they are still advertising products they don't have in stock.
Original Review: Nov. 3, 2016
We got Empire Today install carpet in my home because of their pricing. We thought we were getting a good deal, but we really weren't. The sales associate and the interaction was fine. Everyone I dealt with in customer service was above and beyond in their skills and ability to work with me, but I would never use Empire again because they promised me an installation date of Monday morning, and an hour before they were supposed to get there, they called that the carpet wasn't in stock. I had to pick another carpet and they promised me that that carpet would be in stock. On the first day, we had taken off work for them to be there. And so we rescheduled with our second and they called me the day before that they didn't have that carpet. We ended up with our third choice. The corporate didn't have our item in stock on three different occasions when they had promised us.
It was very unprofessional. They made it seem like our project was so big and it wasn't. We have a normal, standard-size home, had moved all of the furniture in our house, and had taken off work already. We were very inconvenienced. It wasn't the customer service. Whoever was managing the corporate and goes about making sure that they have stock on hand is doing a very poor job. We lived in disarray for over a week and were expecting the carpet, but then there was none. However, we're now forced to go with them because we've already started the process, left a deposit, and are ready to get this done.
When I spoke with the customer service representatives, I was pretty upset and frustrated with the experience. I spoke to three different people in that department and they all remained very professional. They did not promise anything that they could not deliver, except for the product. But other things that we discussed and we were talking about, they would say, "I'll look into that." They never made any false promises as far as that was concerned. But at this point, I need them to accommodate me some way financially. And they never made any false promises regarding that until they went and spoke with someone who could make that a negotiation.
We sincerely regret that your installation did not take place as planned. We understand that your time is valuable and assure you that we will investigate further into this matter.
Thank you.

I've seen the 50/50/50 advertisement on TV--fifty percent off on the installation, fifty percent off on the padding, and fifty off on the carpet. But then, I was misled by it for the simple fact that it was for Empire Today's expensive carpet and not all the carpets so that was depressing. We needed one and I really didn't wanna go to the ball of getting back on the phone and trying to find someone. I went ahead with them.
The sales associate was good. He cut me a good deal on the living room carpet because I told him that I was on SSA. He brought up some deals that he would classify me as a business and he'd give me a discount for the business, which is just a home. But he didn't give me a good deal the second time around with my bedroom because its size was like 25 by 25 and my living room was probably 35 by 40, and then the hallway. The living room cost $900 and my bedroom was $550.
The installation team did a good job in putting the carpet in the living room. They pulled up all the border on the floor so they could run the carpet but they just ran it to where the edge of the border laid so there were little gaps. When I asked them about why they didn't put the trim back down, they said that they don't deal with the trim or the threshold plate, which was a little disappointing. But I called them back because they did a nice job putting the carpet down.My bedroom has a nice carpet and they did a good job on laying it down as well as I can't see the seam. They also helped me move our big old 32-inch TV that I couldn't pick up out of the room so I was pleased with them. I'm already thinking about calling them back next year. They were pretty good and I'd recommend them.

The first carpeting that we had, ridges started appearing all over the place. So I called and the same gentleman came and they put new carpeting in again. I just want to write this hoping others in the market for flooring will read before going with Empire. This may be wordy but will be worth it in the end. We originally got multiple estimates and went with Empire although they were more expensive, we liked the product, and had heard great reviews from family and friends. We had two rooms carpeted, on the day of installation a regular utility van showed up with the passenger smoking a cigarette right next to the new carpet I had bought. They will send someone to your house to collect money prior to the installers showing up. Once they have a payment in full they will install your carpet. This should have been clue number 1. Paying for a job that has even been started, let alone finished up front was a bad decision on my part. The installers worked hard but placed a very noticeable seam right in the middle of a high traffic area in the living room.
When the job was complete to them, we said this was not acceptable. We got on the phone with "Craig" the installation manager. He asked for me to send a picture which I did over the phone that day. He agreed it looked awful. He offered for the same crew that was already there to fix the problem. I told him no why would I want them to fix a job they already did poorly. While on the phone, the second worker was already in the van and actually honked to horn to get his partner's attention and leave. Craig said he would send another crew out to fix the seam. I agreed to this and set a very specific time and date. When that date rolled around I was told the new crew we requested wasn't available and the original install crew could come back, 2 hrs after the agreed on time. Here are two more major issues. They again wanted to send the same crew back and also send them 2 hours after the agreed time.
Finally, a different crew came out 2 weeks later to fix the seam. When they were done the job looked worse than it already had. When they were done I contacted "Craig" and told him, he said "Ok. It sounds like we just need to start over with new carpet." He also agreed at this point, we deserved some monetary refund as our living room furniture had been in our kitchen for 3 weeks now. I was told I would hear from Empire to schedule a new appointment. This led to "Vince" who was Craig's boss calling and asking how the fix went and if we were happy with the job. I politely told him obviously he had not talked to Craig who promised us new carpet and some refund. He told me that Craig could not make this decision and he, (Vince) would need to come inspect it himself. This took another week to get Vince to my house because they only inspect complaints on Tuesday and Thursdays.
Meanwhile, they continue to make more sales, take more money, and not finish the jobs they have started. Vince came out and agreed the seam was noticeable and that proper tools such as a power stretcher were not used. Vince also did not have tools and asked if he could borrow a tape measure from me. I politely said I could not find mine and that he should have the proper tools, not rely on his customers to supply them. Vince also agreed that the carpet needed replaced but of course this would take another few days "to push paper and have things approved." Once they were approved re-scheduling became a nightmare. After going another week without hearing from Empire I contacted customer service. Customer service told me the job had been closed and showed as finished. I explained this was far from the case.
The customer service specialist "Toneisha" helped set up another date for re-installation. We agreed on a Friday due to work schedules. As I was leaving to go to work Thursday the day before the appointment, I had a van in my driveway. I told them they were not supposed to be here until tomorrow, they argued, made me talk to their boss. I called Toneisha, left voicemails and finally two days later heard back from her. She asked if the crew had not shown up on Thursday. I told her "Yes they did show up. However we agreed on Friday." She then laughed on the phone and said, "Oops I told you one thing and wrote down something different. That's my fault." Although they had the carpet they could not come out on Friday now as planned because their schedule was too busy. AKA making more sales and installing new carpet to keep collecting more money from unsuspected client.
Once again, another date was rescheduled, that was for today. I got a phone called by Vince again who told me that a mistake had happened. Between Thursday when the carpet was in my driveway and Monday, 4 days later our carpet had been sent back on a return truck to Chicago. I basically laughed and said that does not even surprise me the way this has gone so far. Today is November 1, our initial installation happened on September 20. We still have no carpet. Getting in contact with anyone is almost impossible. Everyone I have talked to has given me the runaround. BEWARE do not use this company even if they underbid the job. We thought by paying more for a better product would be worth it. At this point we are 6 weeks into this debacle and still do not have a finished job that we paid for up-front.
We regret to hear about your experience and assure you that your concerns are important to us. We will review this matter closely and will be in contact with you soon.

However, we thought the grout was going to blend more into it but it hasn't. It's more of a close to white and we thought it was going to be mocha color. But I never called anybody about it. That was the only negative experience we had. Three days before the installation, I received another price quote of $7697.53 in e-mail for the same wood flooring from second Empire sales person with price difference of $3225.71!!! As it was too late to switch back to wood flooring, I stayed with carpeting instead.
As Empire Today has a lowest price guarantee slogan, after the installation, I called Empire local sales manager asking for explanation for the price difference. Yet, there is no call back. I sent an lengthy e-mail to this sales manager and cc-ed to its Satellite manager, I received no answer. This makes me think how much Empire Today can be trusted in this business world. Also, it makes think how much I have been overly charged for the projects of ceramic tiles and carpeting by this first sales person.
In this business world, no trust, no business. Empire Today management should fully realized such reality. From now on, I will tell all my friends and relatives and their friends and their relatives not to deal with Empire Today. In addition, after signing the work order, I repeatedly told the first sales person to make sure to schedule the ceramic tile project before the carpeting began. Yet, when I received the job scheduling e-mail from Empire Today, both projects were scheduled on the same day!!! This is so much that this Empire Today sales person responded its customer's needs.

Original Review: Oct. 28, 2016
I originally had Empire Today install flooring from door to door in my downstairs and also in 2 upstairs bathrooms. Everything went smoothly, and the installers were great! After about 3 months, a few planks near my sliding door began to buckle. I phoned the company since my product is under lifetime warranty, and they came out, removed the bad planks, and replaced them. There was a tiny bit of an area that was "off" but not a big deal.
Fast forward 10 months later. I had some plumbing issues beneath my slab. My living room floor had to be removed, about 1/3 of it. I called Empire Today because I was very pleased with their original work. I wanted them to redo my living room floor and possibly my hall. The gentleman came to do the estimate which included the entire living room and hall. We did discuss that the hall may not need done, but I wouldn't know for certain until a couple days from then. He said that was fine, just to let the installer know. He also phoned the company and did tell them I "may" want the hall done, but didn't know for sure. It turned out that the hall floor did not have to be torn out, but a very small closet had been torn out. That hall closet was included in the estimate.
The day came for the installation. I let the man in and I told him the hall DID NOT need done since it hadn't been torn out. He said okay. I came back from my appointment and the hall floor was up. I asked what happened. He stated that there was water damage to the floor (which there was not) and that he had called his manager and they gave him the go ahead to tear it out. I've still not received a clear answer as to why I wasn't called. Anyways, he had to put some leveling agent in the floor because where the plumbers had to break the slab, it was no longer level. He returned the next day, after the leveling agent dried, and replaced the floor. He only replaced 1/3 of my living room and about 3/4 of the hallway. I was charged for the entire living room and hallway.
Now, I've spoken with Empire Today for two weeks, and I finally received a call back from a very rude manager today. He advised that I signed a contract stating the work was done right and to my satisfaction. However, the installer had me sign a paper stating he had been here. This was the same thing I was asked to do 10 months ago at the time of the original installation. I told this manager I wanted some of my money refunded because I was charged for work that wasn't done AND for work I did not NEED done! This manager told me it was impossible to join new flooring to old flooring. If that's the case, how did the care do the repair in my kitchen in the spring AND how was this installer supposed to do only the living room and match it to my dining room?!
How was the hallway, had it needed done, supposed to match up to my kitchen?!? He clearly lied about this. I was overcharged and have been talking for two weeks to different people trying to get some of my money back. This manager that called just heard about this today, 2 weeks later!! The gentleman who did my estimate was supposed to put the hallway as a "maybe" but failed to do so, even though we spoke in-depth about it. This manager will be to my home on Tuesday to see the job that "was impossible" to do. I'm very disappointed with the service, or lack thereof, that I've received. Once this issue is resolved, I will not be using this company, that I've paid nearly $30,000, ever again! This manager was rude and basically called me a liar without having seen the job that was done, or not done. He was very unprofessional, and I'd install my own flooring before having them in my home again! Buyer beware!
UPDATED ON 11/01/2016: I left an initial review last week and stated I would follow up. The "manager" from Empire Today visited my home today to inspect the complaint regarding the installer not installing the entire area that I was charged for and tearing out and replacing an area that I specifically stated to the installer AND the gentleman who did the estimate that I did NOT need or want done. This manager had a very poor attitude. I showed him proof, quarter round and seams, that the installer only did a portion of the room. After some back and forth he finally said that's X number of boxes. He used his phone to determine the cost and said "I'll give you back X dollars." It was about 1/5 of what I was charged even though the area was more like 1/3 of the charge!!
Before he left, he extended his arm to shake my hand, and I attempted to shake his hand, but he just kept his hand extended and moved it up and down. This was probably one of the rudest people I've ever dealt with. I've spent near $30,000 at Empire, but I will guarantee that I'll never spend another dime on their services!
We regret to hear that your installation was not a success, and want to help make things right. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be following up with you soon.

The cost was not much cheaper than others, but we were able to negotiate with Empire which I liked a lot. And I liked the fact that I could actually have someone come in the house and show us the material versus Home Depot and Lowe's where you have to just pick up samples at the store and take it to your home. So, it was really nice having that expertise to say, "This would go well with your furniture or this would go better." The seller was really cool. I also like the texture and color of the flooring. But we scratched it a little bit and I don't know if there is a scratch-resistant stuff that we can put on. But other than that, it has absolutely met my expectations. It just scratches so easily. But my experience was pleasant overall.

My experience with Empire Today has been good. But when I looked at the end of the carpet, they didn’t do the trimming like they should have. They didn’t put it closer to the edge like it should have been towards the kitchen, and I got a rug over it right now. I Nevertheless I would still recommend Empire.

I had picked out a floor for my dog room. Ordered it and they came to install. The Rep had wrote down the wrong floor, what they brought out was my second choice, but I gave the go-ahead as I still liked my second choice. After installation, the installer gave me the paperwork to sign and AFTER I signed it, he told me that the floor was soft and anything heavy would leave marks. NOT what I wanted! Turns out the rep did not disclose to me that Empire only sells the low grade vinyl flooring, not the top grade. I was contacted by CS as I was not happy and since then (this has been going on since 9-23-16) the person assigned to helping me does not return phone calls. Tells me I signed the contract, so I have to accept the floor and if I was dissatisfied I should not have signed off on it. Never mind that I was told the information AFTER I signed and not before.
Then when they offered a re-select to get a better grade floor, I will have to pay ANOTHER $1400.00 for it! On Tuesday of this week the CS rep called and the call dropped. He never even bothered to call back. The last time I had left 5 MESSAGES for him and not until I called to speak to a Supervisor to let them know that he was NOT returning my phone calls, did he finally call me back. Very frustrating to have a CHEAP FLOOR that I now have to pay for and after a MONTH have no resolution in sight, lousy Customer Service and to top it all off, today when some furniture was picked up, it gauged this new floor down to the old floor which is held up just fine! Only reason I was getting a new floor was to brighten the room up. Did NOT expect to have to deal with a company that will not back their product!

We bought an 850 square feet of a medium gray rug from Empire Today for a rental house. I considered another company but the guy from Empire Today who came out to the house with his iPad was able to do measurements on the spot and gave me a bid immediately, whereas the other place, I had to go to the store and they had to send to the guy out. Bottom line, it was 30% cheaper with Empire Today. They coordinated with me on the phone and also gave me the moisture barrier which was very excellent. The installers were great and I'm very happy with the whole process.

Sales and installation went great! Now all 4 bedrooms are buckled! Embarrassingly buckled! A salesman that came to my mother's told me to call as it was a lifetime warranty. I called, they called back, asked a few questions, then told me it was in proper installation and no longer under warranty. I have asked for someone to come look at my carpet, as I believe it goes beyond installation. I did get a call back, but we were never able to connect, despite my giving them 3 numbers to reach me at. My case was closed with a letter, but was told I could call to reopen. I've now left numerous messages and emails with NO response. This problem is not due to humidity or moving furniture, it's poor quality carpet and padding. Never been so dissatisfied with a company!

As for the pricing, they gave us initially a way too expensive price. But then, they came down in price and helped us with the pricing. They asked us what they had to price it in order for us to be able to do it. The installation team was perfect too and they're very hard workers.

The person who came in to help us had a lot of patience because my mother had a lot of decision-making to do before she picked what she wanted. The brothers who put the carpeting in for us were wonderful. However, the piling doesn't last well. I noticed that it has worn down already. But it was a very good experience all around and we're probably going to have Empire Today back again to do the rest of the house.

I had tile at my front door and two bathrooms done two weeks ago. Tile is still incomplete. Tile in master bath is terrible! Hump in floor, grout lines not equal, some thin some wide. Grout different colors, and not level. They didn't caulk the toilets or the bathtubs. There was a mess left on carpet, walls and doors. Job was marked complete and signed by them I guess, I didn't sign it complete or give a number grade. Transition between the front door tile and the living room laminate was broken and replaced with one that doesn't match.
Steve, the manager, sent a repair crew out today with no warning. I called and he insisted that he made an appointment with my wife for today but didn't. He basically called my wife a liar. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with, by far. I will tell everyone I know to Not do business with Empire Today. The carpet crew was better, but still bad! The carpet looks good, but they beat my walls to death. Then the lead guy puts his clipboard on my $32,000 Harley Davidson tourpak and scratched the paint on the top! WOW!

I called and they said "anytime between 8-6". The installer came at 1, didn't have the carpets I had ordered, didn't know laminate had to be removed and I was left hanging dry. I had to make multiple calls, and then they rescheduled. Came the next day with the wrong carpet again. I was in the phone again and finally the installer went and picked up the right one. They didn't remove the laminate from one bedroom but charged me for it anyways. The sales representative who made the deal didn't bother answering or even apologizing. Also, it wasn't done properly. There was extra carpeting so they needed to roll it out and had to come back out again. The quality of Empire Today is better. They cost a little bit more than Carpet Exchange but I was satisfied with the carpeting that I had. I like their product especially the stain resistance feature and was happy to know that they could install the carpeting quickly. It really does look nice and the installers did such a great job. The men who came and installed it did an excellent job. They were perfect. However, Empire messed up the delivery date. I was expecting them and when I called, they said they weren't scheduled to come. But we straightened that out and they came soon after. A sales representative came to my house and spent 15 minutes explaining how long the company had been around and what great customer service they had and what my husband and I received was the complete opposite! The job was supposed to be completed on Saturday and a supervisor contacted me and told me that several crew called out and the job would not be able to be completed until Monday. After explaining to him that we told the salesman that we were in a time crunch (I am 7 months pregnant and had a shower planned for the following weekend) and were promised a Saturday installation he said he would get back to me. He never did, instead a crew showed up at my house in an unmarked beat up truck and said that they were with Empire and there to complete the job.
At the end of the day the men left without completing the job and said they would be back the next morning. They never showed up instead a different crew showed up complaining that the first crew did not complete the job correctly. That crew then advised that they would not be able to complete the job. I called Empire and asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that an installation supervisor was unavailable. I then asked for any supervisor and that's when I got to a Joel at extension **. Joel stated that he was the call center floor supervisor. Joel never apologized for the customer service we received, told me there was absolutely NOTHING he could do to help, couldn't give me an address or phone number to a local Empire office that I could go to, advised that my best bet was to wait until someone got back to me and then hung up on me! Yes, he hung up the phone on me!! UNBELIEVABLE.
As of now a supervisor has yet to contact me, it has been 3 days! My house is in complete disarray and I literally was left with nails sticking up out of my floor. Empire is aware that I am 7 months pregnant having to sleep on a mattress on the floor and that I have two other children at home and the nails are a safety hazard (see pictures attached). Also, in the pictures attached you will see that one of the installation crew attempted to install the carpet on top of our ceramic tile after we paid for tile removal! There are broken pieces of tile along with the nails everywhere.
On a side note and a minor complaint compared to the ones referenced above, Empire Today also stated that they remove and replace your big furniture items such as the beds and dressers and this was not done either. Aside from the excellent job the salesman did convincing my husband and I that Empire Today was the best company to choose everything after that point has been THE WORSE!! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

I had seen Empire commercials and I am a widow and very limited in finding good people to do house projects so I thought I would make an appt for a consult. The sales rep came, went over carpeting & I purchased carpeting that evening and set up an installation date. I had to change schedules at work with someone to be available for the installation. The day before the installation at 2 pm they called to say they were canceling because of scheduling difficulties (which I do not understand as this was scheduled 6 weeks prior). It was difficult getting someone to get back to me and so I called my sales rep and asked her to call me. She called me back that evening around 9PM and said she did not know what was going on, would look into it and call me first thing in the morning with the answer. I have not heard from her since!
So the next day not hearing from her I called & canceled the order with a person answering the phone because I had left a message with the customer service manager the day before and heard nothing. The person on the phone said she would take the cancellation but that someone would be calling me in 24 hours to confirm. Next I get a call from the customer service manager stating, "I called to reschedule your installation." I said "I canceled the order this morning because I do not like how I was treated as a customer." Her reply was, "you're kidding me." I said no. About an hour later a man called me and offered to give me a nice reduction in price if I would reschedule the installation. Also, my sales rep stated that I had to remove everything from the walls, take bed frame off, empty all drawers (I had carpet laid before and never had to do this). I told the man that offered me the discount that I would let him know.
I called him back and said, "if I can have the installation next week and if you can guarantee me that it will be completed in one day I will" (with hesitation, but giving in only because I did not want to start the process all over again and with my house being torn apart). He said they would load the truck Monday morning and I would be the first person. Monday comes, no installers. I called the main number. They say "oh they are running late(?). They will be there by noon." (Now I lost a half a day of work.) I got my neighbor to come over and take my place because I have a new job. He said they arrived at 11:30. Told him that they were late because Empire told them to go to another customer's house to install tile because she was "upset".
At 3:30 pm they said they were leaving (installation not complete - living room and hallway and two closets not done) and left everything (big rolls of carpet) in the middle of my living room, could not walk through, not watch tv, anything). I then called Empire again and I do have to say there was one person that took care of me the prior week and this call that was the ONLY person that seemed sincere and truly tried to solve the issue. He said it is unacceptable that they left at 3:30. He said the rule is they must stay and finish the job. He asked me if they said why they were leaving. They said because if they started the job they couldn't finish it, and it would be a mess (??? they left a mess in my living room anyway!).
I told him that I felt I should be compensated further for lost work, inconvenience, etc. but he said he was not able to do that (which I know they can do anything they want to do). Also there were two steps going up to my attic that were to be carpeted and he told us that she did not include that in the order, but he did go ahead and put carpeting there. He also stated that I did not have to unplug the TV, take mirror off dresser, etc. He assured me they would be here the next morning (today) and they did arrive and complete the job. I am not complaining about their work because they did a nice installation and I like my carpet (so far).
I am writing this to tell you that it is the worst customer service I have ever had. No one cared at all about me except the one man. You cannot get a hold of anyone in management. They have phone agents taking care of everything, when the manager did call me once, not an "I am so sorry" but instead "you're kidding?" I tried to get information on where to send a letter of complaint and they said the only thing I could do was go on the website (are you kidding me?).I will never, ever use Empire again and I will be sure to let everyone I know in the Pittsburgh area of my experience and how terrible a company Empire is. The disorganization, lack of compassion for the customer, not being able to contact someone in authority, just unacceptable. I am beyond angry.
We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention and we sincerely regret to hear that your installation was not completed as planned. We will be in contact with you soon to discuss this matter in more detail.

He promised it would take less than 2 days, and everything would be completed before we left on a business trip. We emptied the house, moved all furniture. Installers showed up and were concerned about the fact there was no matching trim for that flooring. All the promises the salesman made about the transitions and steps matching and having nice trim were completely untrue. Cancelled the install before they got started. Spent many calls and much time trying to get customer service to issue a refund. Run far away from Empire. Find a local pro who can do what he promises.

Empire had a salesperson come out and take measurements on 10-15-16 and I chose what carpet I wanted. We set the date to have the carpet installed on 10-22-16. Empire called first thing in the morning to let me know the installer would be there within 30 minutes and he was; I thought everything was going great. The installer asked me to come out to the truck to check the carpet before he unloaded it, and when I went to look, I noticed the padding and realized that the installer never went over padding with me or allowed me to choose the padding I wanted. I asked the installer was that a good padding or one of the thinner ones, and he said it was one of the thinner ones, and that he had a much better one that was thicker and waterproof. He said if I wanted to change it, he could call and I could reschedule my appointment; I wanted to go ahead and get the carpet put down in my basement, so I just told him to go ahead and install it.
He went down to start laying the tack strips and took the measurements again, and let me know that he couldn't install it because the Empire salesperson who measured it, measured it at 27 ft and it should have been 28 ft; he took the measuring tape and showed me. He told me there was nothing he could do until the shipments came on Monday and he rescheduled with me for Monday, and said he would bring me the upgraded padding at no additional charge for my inconvenience. I was upset about it, but okay because it was just a couple of days, and they were going to upgrade my padding.
Well Monday came, which was yesterday and nobody showed up and nobody called. So, I called this morning and the earliest they can come out now is Friday. I asked them about receiving a discount for my inconvenience and they said they had to put in a ticket for someone to call me about that; I personally feel like it should have just been offered. So, hopefully someone gets back with me about the discount and hopefully they actually show up on Friday with the upgraded padding, and then I will come back and upgrade my rating, but as of this moment, I am a very dissatisfied customer.

When the girl came to the condo unit so that I could choose the carpeting, I quickly realized that it wasn't a next day delivery. It was only on specific things and specific styles which I understood. The big problem was that here in Chicago, high-rise buildings have lots of rules and regulations regarding the carpeting installation. The girl assured me that she would take care of everything. I gave her the management company's email and telephone number.
Four days before the carpet was set to be installed, I called my management company to make sure that they had everything. But they had no information with regard to this installation at all. I called the girl who sold me the carpet and she said that the email and telephone number that I gave her were incorrect. I asked her why she didn't call me so that we could have gotten that taken care of. She dropped the ball and it seemed a little fishy to me. We tried to get approval for the installation and I needed to get a freight elevator scheduled. It was really a disaster. When I called the 3 people that I talked to treated me like I didn't deserve to have a group of people at my house and told me I could have rescheduled. Why would I reschedule when I was promised what I was and they didn't hold up their end of the bargain but of course they wanted their money in full at the end. They had no bad feelings of what they did to me and made me stay there for 12 hours while the work was being performed. They treated me like what I was telling them was something I requested and not what I was told by the guy that sold me the carpet.
When I finally got ahold of the guy that sold me the carpet he told me once again that there should have been more people sent out and the stretcher should have been used. He then told me that he would dig into the issue and call me back and now it has been 5 days and still no call back. All they want is you to sign the contract and then don't hold up their end of the bargain. I would never recommend anyone to use this company after the way I was treated.

I had to have this old carpet removed when I moved in here and I needed something as soon as I could get it and Empire Today came through with high-quality. I worked with Home Depot and their carpets were more expensive. I had a certain budget that I wanted and Empire was able to come very close to it. Plus I asked for the experience of the two fellows that came out to help put it in. That means a lot to me that they know what they're doing so and that made it even more of a decision to take Empire. I have darker wall paneling so I got the rose color carpet which is brown, tan, and then sometimes when the sun hits it, it comes up a little red and I liked that. But, I would've liked to have something a little bit softer 'cause it's a hard fabric and when I kneel on this carpet, I have to get up within five minutes.
The salesperson came out from Modesto and he is the most important part of the business 'cause he's the one that's introducing the product and telling me what type of carpet it is and all the reasons why, the guarantees of it and the length of the warranties, and all that is vital to me as a customer. So, without the salesperson, there's no way Empire could have any of these jobs completed. All in all, I was satisfied with their customer service and they were a joy to be around as well. I would definitely turn them on to somebody else.

I was satisfied with the flooring installation originally, but we are on a third call back to fix flooring. That's three too many times. They are slow to respond to repair, which took over a week on the last call back. Seems to me that if they screw up, and the customer is paying 14k on flooring, the response should be very quick. At this point, don't feel I can recommend them to anyone.

Have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get our floor replaced since the warranty gives a lifetime warranty and the floor has over 27 issues! We have not even had this floor for a year! Gaps, warping, uneven! Installation was horrible, product also horrible! No one we have talked to will do anything, we just keep getting the runaround! Danielle, Charles, and Dante are a waste! No help at all! Do not waste your hard-earned money on Empire! Go to Home Depot! We are taking further action against them since they will not back up their guarantee and warranty, and replace this floor! They don't even deserve 1 star! Very dissatisfied customer!
Updated 10/19/2016 - Told us today that they will not stand behind the guarantee or warranty that they advertise on TV and that their sales rep told us BEFORE we purchased it! They told us today, 10/29 that it will be 100% our cost to repair, fix and/or replace it! FALSE ADVERTISING!!! Going to file a lawsuit against them!!! Our next step is the Better Business Bureau!

I am very disappointed with Empire Today. I am a disable army veteran and the service provided was horrible. The day of installation, the installers arrived and were very confused of what needed to be done. I think that is bad business if I am paying all this money and was told everything will be handled professionally and it wasn't. After they were done, they didn't want to leave my house unless I paid them, which I told them it was being financed. Customer service is terrible. We were placed on hold for almost 30 minutes until we got frustrated and hanged up the phone. This was a terrible experience and I have more project in my house to do in the future and I am not sure I will go with you all anymore unless someone fix this issue. I paid a lot of money and shouldn't have to deal with how disorganized things were.
We never want our customer's to feel this way and assure you that your satisfaction is important to us. We will be following up with you soon to learn more.
Thank you.

The installers showed up with no identifying uniforms or ids. They smelled strongly of liquor and corn chips, and this was at 9:45 a.m. on a Monday morning. I don't have patience for this, anymore. Nothing good was going to come from that experience. Be careful, please.
We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. We assure you that we take matters such as this one very seriously and we'll be in contact with you soon to learn more.

We begin in May 2016 to get carpet and hardwood flooring installed by Empire. Carpet installation went as expected, good job. Hardwood flooring is still a problem, now it is October, 2016. To begin with their sales Dept sold us product that was no longer in stock. We waited about 3 weeks without any communication from Empire unless we initiated the calls.
Finally decided to change hardwood flooring products to a product that was in stock.. Product was ordered but not enough to finish the contracted job. Waited another week, installers came without the proper tools to do the job and unable to communicate. Job finally finished, about 3 weeks later several places in the flooring began to "creak" as if it was loose.
Called Empire, waited and waited, finally found what Empire calls their "Resolution" team. Thought at that point we may get some results, what a joke! Empire sent out another group of so called repaired workers, could not communicate, removed about 1/3 of the hardwood flooring, could not find any problems with the sub flooring even though they found a place they should be leveled, only repair that area at my insistence. This repair groups determination was the hardwood flooring was bad and needed to be replaced.
Call Tommy with the so called "Resolution" Dept. 95%of all the communication had to be initiated from me. Tommy promised me that he would not send out a team that could not communicate for the new flooring install. New flooring was ordered, crew shows up, barely able to communicate, new flooring installed, crew brought the wrong type transition wood and 1/4 round, broke a piece of my kitchen tile (see photo) while removing the old transition wood, rescheduled the completion of the job to be done on Sat morning 9 am, no call until 11am. Job rescheduled for Monday, Oct 17, 2016 at 9 am. It is now 10am, no crew, no call. Photos attached will show what I as the homeowner had to do to get the transition wood to stay in place until the adherent dried.
We regret to hear that your installation is not yet complete. We want to help and we'll be following up with you soon.
Thank you.
