We originally called in and spoke with a guy that came out. But because he didn't give us any examples which was highly unusual as per my mom, she told me to call Empire again. And a different rep came out and did an excellent job. He answered all of our questions and he wasn't really high-pressure because if so, I won't buy it, regardless. I never did this before so we didn't know what was supposed to happen. Nonetheless, their rep was very nice. Even the installers that came out were very respectful, quick, efficient and cleaned up after. So, they were great.

We got a carpet installed by Empire in our home. They had quick turnarounds and the sales rep we had was very nice. The carpet we got was good and that's what we wanted. Empire came out and gave me a price, but it was horrible and I hit them on it. They went down about a third of the price that they quoted me originally and installed the carpet the next day. So, we were happy.

I have been very disappointed in the duplicity, "bait and switch" tactics and lack of transparency regarding my flooring sale and installation. Specifically: It does not appear I was given the "50/50/50 off" price but a much higher price instead. I was told that they could not install tile in my den and kitchen, but would have to install LAMINATE instead because it was an older house. Yet two tile installers from another company who later came to quote different jobs, said that was nonsense, that tile is routinely installed in all types of houses and floors, including older ones and ones on crawl spaces.

When Empire's installers got here, they told me that the floor was slightly higher in one spot and that I could NOT install LAMINATE because IT would crack, but kept trying to get me to install carpeting again instead! They ended up sanding and putting cement on the floor but did not level it properly and you can still tell when you walk on it, that they did not completely level the floor in that area. It was also discovered that the kitchen floor was slightly higher than the den floor and the installers wanted to charge me another $600-$800 to install plywood in the den to make the floors the same height. This is something that should have been pointed out by you and addressed at the time of the quote, instead I ended up having to put an ugly bridging piece across the seam, breaking up the line of the room.

The salesman told me I could install tile in the laundry room because it is on a concrete floor. What was installed was not tile, it was LVT or luxury VINYL tile. I was never TOLD this, nor even shown an actual piece of tile (where I might have seen how thin and cheaply made it is and that it is not truly "tile"), but a "picture of a room" with the tile and told to choose which color I liked better. I have sent my Salesman two emails and he has not responded... He sells floors every day, all day long and knows not only what issues exist with a floor but what can and cannot be done to it and the associated costs - and yet he skirted the truth in order to make a sale! So basically, I ended up paying double to get something other than what I wanted when I could have gotten what I asked for!!! What a sorry and duplicitous way to do business!!!

I moved and didn't know anybody here so I didn’t know who to call. I paid the money to Empire Today and then these people showed up. There was never any option or question, it was just done. I had 12x24 tiles installed in the two bathrooms. There's a Mohawk laminate floor downstairs. And then, upstairs is engineered hardwood.

They started on the 10th of January and they ended on the 9th of February. They had one installer that knew what he was doing but he was only here maybe a day and a half and they put him on another job. Then, I had these two installers that were ridiculous. They were on the phone with their wives or girlfriend, yelling and screaming at them several times a day. He was in my garage and I could hear him yelling on the phone in my kitchen. These were 20-minute phone calls and they don't speak English which I was intimidated by. If somebody is emotional, then they're not going to do well and it's not professional.

I called Empire directly and told them several times that I don't want these installers in my house but they said that they're third-party and they don't have any control over the installers. They took all my money upfront and I felt very trapped. They were at my house working and I let them do it because I wanted them to finish and get the heck out of here. I ended up having to move out of my house and stay at the Saratoga Inn four nights towards the end because they were working here so late and I couldn’t take it any more. They were sawing and pounding for many nights, 'til 11:00 pm and my neighbors complained. I told Empire Today about it but they continued to do that. They took forever and wouldn't get out of my house.

The tiling in the bathrooms is atrocious. There's a broken tile behind the toilet and the woodwork edging that they put down is full of nails and nail holes. For instance, there is a one-inch slice of the woodwork between the tub and the drawer that have five nail holes in it. It's ridiculous. It's even chipped off the white paint that is part of it. Also, there are several places they pounded so hard in putting the floors down, the paint chipped off the corners of the wall. I glued one big piece back on. I also have some nice woodwork that are part of this house and they're scratched.

Also, the sample they showed me for the Acacia engineered hardwood was only one piece which was definitely on the lighter end of the wood. When they started installing it, I've got some of the light pieces and pieces that range all the way to pretty dark and in between. So, it's a multi-tonal floor. It’s very fluid-like patchwork, different wood, light and dark. And that in itself is pretty interesting. But if I had a sample with these different colors, I don't think I would have had it in my house. It's quite dizzy and isn't the sample they had that I picked out but it's okay, it'll work. Then, when they glued the floor down, they ended up using too much glue. Their hands were covered in it so, when they touched everything, there were glue spots all over the floor. The guy who was supposed to be in charge of installers came and hand-cleaned everything but it's still there in many places.

The entire experience was just awful. I'm a recent widow trying to buy a house and start my life and this is just a nightmare. I got a recommendation finally from the local company and they're coming to give me a quote on taking out the tile floors and their edging, stick with woodwork and then redoing that. I’m having to spend money now having a different company but I don't want these installers back in my house.

I had another company give me a price but I liked the look of Empire Today's product a little bit better so we had them install the vinyl flooring at our kitchen and laundry room and it was great. However, there wasn't any good communication between me and the company because I was supposed to get carpet too and I cancelled it all but they said they're going to bring carpeting. It was about three times before they realized that I cancelled the carpeting. Nevertheless, I'm satisfied.

I gave them a call and they said they had to redo the entire kitchen but I didn't go through Empire to do it. I went with somebody else.

We had some friends who had some work done and had some carpeting installed by Empire Today and were very happy with it. So, we went a little bit on their recommendation. Their cost and quality worked out very well for us compared to other brands. We had carpet and tile installed in our home and the two teams that came in were very professional, nice, pleasant and fun to work with. However, we were told that the tile people would be here on a certain day and then the carpet people would come the next day. But the tile people, for whatever reason, did not come in on the day they were supposed to and came in the next day. That was a problem, considering that we had painters coming to paint around after the product had been installed. Then after the painters left, we had the company. So, it was a very tight schedule when we scheduled it.

The only other issue was that the representative who did the selling to us said that he did not have little samples of our carpet or our tile so that we could go out and purchase the paint ahead of time. We had to wait until it was installed. But even if it'd been samples that we could keep for hours, that would have been fine. We would have been more than happy to see that he got them back. Nevertheless, the job was done correctly and accurately, and the color and the quality of the product itself worked out very well for us.

I really liked the salesman. He was very honest, forthright, and knew his stuff. He was really nice. He knew we were getting other estimates and said whatever estimates we got, if some came in lower, to just give the office a call and Empire would match it. And that's exactly what they did. We considered three different companies, including Empire. But I like the carpeting in Empire better. So I had them put carpeting throughout our house and they did an excellent job. They were neat, and cleaned up after themselves.

We used Empire in July to install Laminate flooring in our kitchen. Now we asked them to come back to do the same flooring in our living room. Got a quote, set up the install. When they show up they have the wrong flooring. The sales guy didn't do the correct quote! We have a whole ripped up floor, and now they aren't even sure if that flooring is around anymore. Horrible customer service. No one can give us a straight answer. We wasted a whole day, have a ripped up floor with a bunch of dust flying around. My wife is 30 weeks pregnant and shouldn't be breathing in the dust, and Empire can't even call us back to tell us what's going on. We have been trying to reach someone for the entire day, and now they are closed. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with.

I was so disgruntled with everybody else that I dealt with. There were people telling us to go here, there and everywhere. We're in our late 70's, so we couldn't. So we looked around but never got the fast response that I did from Empire Today. We called them and the next day somebody was here to show me a few samples. We picked one and then the next day, they were here doing the work. I was very pleased with that and I'm really happy with the floor but when I walk on it, it makes a little sound in places like there's air underneath it. It's not completely levelled. They didn't use any cement and I was under the impression that they usually do that.

I hate to have to dig it up again but I don't know which is the best option. The fellow that came here told me to call him if there was any trouble but I don't have his name. But the fellows were very nice, worked all day and did a great job. A gentleman who didn't speak English called and didn't really understand me. I barely understood him as well. He wanted to know if everything was alright. I told him I was very happy with the people. And he said "Okay." but then hung up. That part wasn't too good. It was two calls that I got and the person on the other phone call didn't speak very good English, either. But overall, it was a satisfactory experience with Empire Today.

I ordered carpet and Laminate floor from Empire. The sales girl Cindy was nice, the installers did a good job. My complaint is as follows. I signed a contract for 5000 for the job. The contract did not match the total cost of the job that was presented to me at the end of the job installation. The 3 papers I signed at the completion of the job totaled $4499. I financed $4500 and put an additional payment of $500 on my credit card.

I called Empire and they said basically "too bad you signed for 5000 and it doesn't matter the job actually came to $4499." I am very disappointed that they take this attitude. As a consumer when you feel ripped off by a company it is very disheartening. I know a lot of people to which I would have recommended Empire but I will not now. My advice to people, when you sign a contract make the company breaks down the price ahead of time, as they did at the end of the job instead of just signed a total amount.

It is the ugliest floor I've ever seen. I was told if there was a problem the owner of the company would contact me. That didn't happen. Salesman came out, saw the problem, agreed and told me we would have resolution by Wednesday. Of that week. Instead we were given another stall and told Thursday. When Thursday came we were told someone would be out to see the floor Saturday. They are not BACKING their floor is the real bottom line. This is a $2000.00+ mistake. Don't use them. Save your money. Go to Home Depot or anywhere but Empire. No one deserves this, it's a nightmare. I'm buying rugs to hide this monstrosity.

I saved money for two years to put new flooring into my apartment. The sales rep was very happy and eager and assured me I was going to be very pleased with the "high quality" vinyl flooring I chose and the lifetime warranty that Empire provides. I cared for my flooring just as I was told to do, and four months later I noticed dents in the flooring where my couches sit.

While dealing with the customer service department for the last four months, I have been hung up on, run around and simply often ignored. It takes me leaving at least 4-5 messages for several different people including the customer service manager before even speaking to someone. Then they tell me that they will replace the flooring... with the same flooring. Ever heard of the Einstein's definition of insanity... "to do the same thing over and over and expect different results". Dealing with this company and its disregard for its customers and their investment I feel insane. But mostly I feel taken advantage of.

Even the warranty was about the same. Also, 50 Floor matched their price, but I liked Empire Today's salesman a little better. But I asked him for an estimate on the upstairs on the day before the install because I wanna redo the carpet there as well. However, he told me that he was in a hurry because he was going to another customer. He then said that he'll be back and call me the following week to see how the flooring went after the installation and then he could do the estimate, but he never called. They could've made more money with it, but I decided to go with somebody else. Other than that, my overall experience with them went well and the new flooring has met my expectations.

Empire Today was handy to me as I pass by the store every day. I had them install a rug in one room and we did all right. The installation was perfect and I have no complaints. The guy worked by himself and had to haul everything in. My wife picked out the color and I thought it was too light for the room as we're in and out of it. The room gets a lot of activity from the garage which isn't always very clean and the backyard where I could be working in the garden. But the color is a good one for the house and for the colors that we have in here.

However, our salesman was a little overzealous. There was a lot of hee-hee, haw-haw and he was trying not to stick in the business. He was trying to be friendly and making it sound a simple job. And he made a mistake there. He quoted me a price in writing and tried to charge me a little higher price later. I had to point out the fact that he had in writing what the price is. He denied it until I showed him and he was pretty embarrassed. But we got it settled. I told that to a fellow over in rank than him and the fellow gave me his card if I ever have any trouble. I thought that was all right and I'd recommend them.

We met with a sales rep last month and picked out flooring for our home. To save money we decided to pull up all the carpet and old hardwoods ourselves, and have all the furniture out and floors prepped before install. Received a call asking us to move our install date from April 25 to March 2 and they would give a corporate discount of $500 off our new hardwoods. Agreed and now we really have to get moving on demo and moving furniture out.

Well today is the day and they come in and tells us that they can not install our flooring because of the humidity is greater than the floors itself. This test should be completed prior to purchase. If done so we could have picked out different flooring that accommodates. The sales representative should have tested and made us aware. I have contacted several customer service reps including the sales supervisor Kenneth **, that was very rude and non-compliant of the issues we are having. I myself took off from work to have this installation completed and I can say was a waste of time and money on my part. Never go with Empire. I would not recommend them to anyone and as far as their always striving for a perfect 10 they have received a 0 from this customer. We have used Empire with an older house we had and had a pretty good experience. So when we bought a new house we decided that we wanted laminate floors. We made an appointment online for a Tuesday evening. My husband took off of work early and we waited for the salesperson to show up. Finally I called to verify that they were coming. The lady on the line said she was sorry but no one was going to be coming that night. I was like, "Why didn't anyone call me?" She was very apologetic and I decided to try again so the following week we made another appointment. My husband again took off work early. No one called or showed up again and I had talked to someone from empire earlier that day that promised me someone was going to be at my house. When I called them they offered me 100$ off if I try to make another appointment.

I again tried for the following week. They had talked to the manager and guaranteed that someone would be at my house this time. My husband again took off work early. I called the company numerous times during the day to guarantee that someone would actually show up. They said yes someone would be here. An hour before they were to be here I received a message stating that they were not going to make it. I was livid! I called back where I was told the manager of the store would call me personally in about 30 mins. No one called. Then I was told the corporate office would call. No one called from them either. I live in a large community and many of my neighbors wanted to see the work of empire floors in my house and maybe go with them. But after this horrible experience I told them to never go with them. We chose Empire because we felt that what they were charging and their payment plan were really good, and that they would work. However, we had an accident wherein our hot water heater ruined the carpet, which we just had installed about three years before. So, we went back to Empire to have them re-install the basement. The installation was really good but there was a mess. Empire Today took all the leftovers although I needed some. Also, we have a problem that has to be repaired and I have nothing to repair it with. They were supposed to send somebody back to fix this and if I even had some samples of what they had, I could get it fixed without having them come all the way from Kent. Moreover, I've also never received anything to pay them back yet, I haven't received coupons. Nevertheless, they did a very good job.

Empire Today did carpeting in my living room and dining room, and everything was good during the installation. Empire was easier for convenience so I was willing to pay extra. I also wanted the service to come in quick and Empire's was one of the fewer and quicker things one could do. The carpet looked nice. I picked a really good color to make the furniture look really nice. I was pleased and got what I wanted. I would recommend Empire Today.

I had Empire Today install carpet in our bedrooms, loft stairs, and the master bathroom. The salesperson was great and the people who came out for the installation were good. They were very quick and got it all done in one day. However, it was our first time having somebody come out and install anything in our home. It would have been nice if they could have helped us by giving suggestions that were more feasible like giving other options and other materials. Now, I kick myself because I probably shouldn’t have carpeted the stairs because I have little kids. Also with the master bathroom, I probably could have gone with laminate because of our budget. But we got a little intimidated by the price of the other types of flooring that we settled on carpeting everything besides the stairs. Otherwise, the carpet is easy to clean. Sometimes, something spills and it isn’t easily absorbed by the carpet.

I thought Empire Today was too expensive. But their sales rep gave me a good deal so I went with them. However, there was a little mix-up. I'm not sure whose fault it was. It was just the fact of how things came about with me paying for it. Also, I didn't know that I had a warranty. And as time went on, I was noticing there were little pieces of things that were not quite complete. The man who did it was rushed and I felt if he wasn't rushed then it probably wouldn't have been a mistake.

When the gentleman was doing the vinyl in the kitchen, two men came in to do the carpet for the living room. The carpet guys said, "You need to hurry up. You need to finish so we can move this back so we can do the carpet." And it was putting him at unease and even the field manager and his boss came out because the carpet guys were stating, "We'll just come back. You have to reschedule." And that put me in a bind because I had to leave work to come for this. But when they finished the carpet and vinyl, it was great work, so I'd recommend them. The flooring itself met my expectations. It was just that little incident in between there that made me a little uneasy. And I realize that was not Empire per se, those were the contractors. But these are well-known contractors that work for Empire. And I should have never experienced anything like that.

It's like a Scotchgard type carpet and it's a very pretty one. We used Empire because the tenant's mother had used them a time or two and had good experience with them. That intrigued me to go that direction, too, and my experience with them was very nice. I'd recommend Empire to a friend.

I had Empire Today install carpeting in my office, kids’ playroom and kids’ bedroom. What made me go with Empire is the timeline - I was trying to get it done for the holidays and they had availability. I was going to go with Home Depot during one of their sales because it was a pretty good deal and I found a carpet that I liked. Empire had a very similar carpet that I also liked, but they were able to do it within a two-week period. Home Depot was six or eight weeks out. It’s a nice carpet. I like that it is soft. I have kids and I don't want them to smack their heads off hard surfaces all day long. That was my deciding factor in putting carpet in. Empire Today did a good job. They were quick, they were clean, everything's holding up, so far. The guys were good and professional. I was very satisfied. I have recommended them to a couple of people. I told them my experience went very well.

The installation process of my new blinds has been completed. After a no show on the original install date Empire arranged a second date for the installation which went very smoothly. I am very pleased with the blind quality and with the installation process now that it has been completed.

    Original Review: Feb. 27, 2017

I had laminate wood floors installed by Empire and was very pleased with the process from start to finish. So I decided to use Empire for window treatments. Unfortunately this process has been terrible. On January 21 I met with the sales person, Karen, who measured my windows and placed my order. She was very professional and I looked forward to being contacted by Empire again for the second measurement as promised. Over a week went by and I hadn't heard from Empire, so I contacted them.

When I was finally able to get them to set up the second measurement the gentleman who came to my home was extremely unprofessional complaining the whole time about the long drive he had, about his health issues, etc. After that visit 2 more weeks went by and no one from Empire had contacted me. I called to see if I could pin down the approximate date the blinds would be ready and set up an installation. I was told that they had to contact another party to find this information out, and that someone would call me back.

No one ever called back. This same scenario was repeated when I called again a few days later. As of today 6 weeks have passed since the initial order was placed and I have yet to receive a call from anyone at Empire except for Robert who apparently tried to make arrangements for the installer to call me back today. Once again no one called. The lack of customer service and follow through for such expensive items from a company that claims customer Service is a priority is frankly appalling. I still have no idea if the window treatments are ready or when I can expect them to be installed.

We had Laminate flooring and carpet installed throughout our new home less than a year ago. The laminate that has a lifetime warranty on stain, wear, fade, moisture, scratch etc. The flooring now has 4-5 gouges in it and multiple scratches. Empire brought in (hired) a third party to come inspect the flooring for "manufacturing defects." The third party determined it was not a manufacturing defect resulting in Empire not doing anything to resolve these issues.

This company does not stand behind their product. We have this many issues with a less than a year old floor that has a lifetime warranty and they will do nothing to fix these issues. They are a joke and do not stand behind their warranties and or work that was completed. The salesmen that came out, did the key on the piece of laminate gimmick that did not scratch and claimed that the product we choose was much better than the one he used as an example. We now be taking legal action against the joke of a company for the 10k in flooring in our home that looks terrible.

I've used Empire a few times and I've had a great experience with them. I've had them install flooring and carpeting. I’m a contractor so the areas where they've installed flooring have varied. I had the entire house done with carpet, and just finished carpeting the basement yesterday with them. Kitchen and dining room areas were done with their PVC tile flooring. Then I did the hardwood flooring in a front living room area. The job was for a customer’s house.

My initial use of Empire was because of their speed. They were expedient in regards to their installation. We've continued to go with them because of their great service, polite, clean crews, who are fast and professional. I have yet to have an issue with them. I'm a general contractor and I deal with a lot of different types of trades and people associated with trades, and I give them As across the board. An Empire employee who's of Spanish descent and that spoke in broken English was fantastic to work with, and I'm going to request him on my next round. I've got another job coming, and I'm going to request that same crew because they've done exceptional work for me. I'd give them a recommendation.

However, there was one glitch. They called me a couple of months after an installation because they thought there was an outstanding balance of $1,000 when they were filling up their itinerary. They checked through their records. I pulled up the paperwork and showed them that there was a discrepancy in the paperwork and they actually called the office that day. When I brought the matter to the attention of a rep, and she saw the footnotes in their ledger or record, she had the situation rectified. She was very congenial about the issue and it worked out fine.

I do not usually review company's online unless it is a positive experience... but since we are continually being avoided and ignored I feel I have no other choice. In August 2016 we had Empire install flooring throughout our entire home. The downstairs was laminate wood flooring, and the upstairs was carpet. When the salesman came out originally I told him that I was interested in the most durable carpet they had, in which he sold us the product that we have now. I believe it is called Berber Carpet. After the installation my daughter noticed that her desk leg was broken, in which the installers did not report. The desk was literally 2 weeks old. If that had been the only problem, I would not be writing this review now. Unfortunately the Carpet that they have installed is HORRIBLE QUALITY!!!

The first time I vacuumed (with a brand new vacuum cleaner) the Carpet seam came up and separated the entire length of the seam (which happened to be in the middle of the room). Since then almost every other seam throughout the entire upstairs has done the exact same thing!!! We called the company and finally got them to come and look at it. The problem with that is they sent the actual person that had done the installation out so of course he tried to find every possible excuse as to why this occurred other than it being poor product or poor installation. Of course we requested someone else that had not been part of the initial installation come out and look at it. After several weeks we finally got another person out. He did not make excuses at all, he agreed that this should not happen and actually admitted that he did not know why it happened but it definitely was no fault of ours (the customer).

He took some pictures and said that he would have to now have his boss come out and take a look and we would go from there. The "boss" came out, he looked at everything, he asked to look at my vacuum cleaner, he took pictures and then he said he really didn't know why the Carpet was falling apart either. It did appear that he was looking to try to put the blame on us, but was unable to. He told my wife and I that he would have to make a report and would be giving us a call in the next week or so with some possible solutions. It has now been at least 2 months and we have heard NOTHING!!! We have called several times with it going to voicemail, leaving a message and still no return calls. We spent over 9,000.00 dollars with them and this is how we have been treated. My wife is sooo upset with the entire process!

We actually went with a big company so that we would not have to worry about them standing behind the work. At this point I would warn everyone to stay away from Empire Today!!! We feel we are getting the run around! We have new carpet that literally is coming apart at every seam! Yet they still have our money! Not right at all!!! I would not even be writing a negative review if they were trying to make it right, but they are not! They continue to avoid us. Take my advice your money is better spent with a company that will stand behind the work that they do!!!

BUYER BEWARE: We had an Empire sales person come to our home, measure, do up a quote and schedule our installation for today, Saturday 2/25. He spent at least an hour at our home and installation was confirmed several times by email and via phone. The installers showed up a 7:30am this morning to first tell us that since they were putting carpet over older basement tiles, the tiles had to be tested for asbestos so they could not do the basement install. Something that would have been nice of the sales person to let us know in advance considering our basement is a weight/workout room and we had to disassemble and move all the heavy equipment last night to prepare. And no, the tiles weren't unable to be seen, the sales person walked on them to take the measurements.

Now we have to schedule and pay for a test and take off work for both the test and that install again next week if we decide to move forward with them which at this point is highly doubtful. Next, they proceeded to tell us they didn't bring enough carpet to do the upstairs of the house which was measured and scheduled for installation as well. Mind you, for the past 2 days we have packed up closets, disassembled heavy furniture, unhooked all TVs and computers, etc., everything we were told to prepare for. Now, our entire house is basically packed or torn apart, pets moved, beds broken down, etc., the installers left and we have nothing.

Someone finally called almost 3 hours later to explain the dangers of asbestos tiles and why they have to be tested (duh!) and is trying to get different installers back out to at least start the upstairs. I honestly could have dealt with the asbestos testing mishap because I understand the issue and also understand sometimes ** happens (for lack of better words) but to not even attempt to complete the upstairs portion of the job is just beyond my comprehension. Especially considering the size of the job and the extent of prep needed to make it happen.

So far, no explanation as to why we weren't told about the testing upfront; no explanation as to why the upstairs couldn't have at least been started if not completed with a carpet that was in stock even if it meant using a different carpet; no offer for the inconvenience or to make it right... Nothing except a very weak attempt to get new installers back out to start the job that should have started at 7:30 this morning.

Bottom line, incompetence all around and pure laziness on the install end... Stick with and support a good local small business if you want something done right, wish we would have! It's now after 12pm and I haven't even heard another word, can't get thru to anyone at a management level, haven't heard back from our original sales person and am stuck sitting at my home waiting for some sort of answer. Considering the lack of simple communication, this is possibly the WORST customer service I've ever experienced!

If you want great customer service and you want to work with an honest company, I would not recommend using Empire for any type of purchase or install. We scheduled to have the carpet in our entire house replaced almost 2 weeks ago. I called Empire the Friday before the install date to confirm everything, and I was told our install had been rescheduled. No one contacted us to tell us anything. On top of that, the customer service rep was very rude. When I told him we scheduled our install almost two weeks ago, and we expected them to honor what we were told, he said, "well what do you want me to do about that".

I ended up speaking to one of the managers there, Edgar, and he called the installers and told me that we were on their schedule to have our carpet installed on Saturday, like we were told. The Rep that sold us the carpet even sent me a screen shot of our order and install date. We cleared out every closet in our home, and moved everything off all tables and sat around waiting all morning for the installers to show, but they never did. I called Empire to find out what was going on, and they told me we were dropped from the schedule and there was nothing they could do about it. Everyone I spoke to had a very nonchalant attitude and treated me as if my business meant nothing to this company.

I spoke to another manager, Joel, and told him what was going on, and he basically said, "well all we can do for you is reschedule you", that's it. I told him I wanted my deposit back because I didn't like that fact that we scheduled this install almost two weeks ago, and Empire changed the install date twice without letting us know, and then treated me like they didn't care about the time me and my family spent preparing our home for the carpet to be installed. I had to go back and forth with Joel about getting my money back because they were not trying to issue us a refund, and I finally had to tell him that I would write a review letting everyone know how they tried to rip us off and not give us our deposit back after Empire was the one that screwed up our order.

I also asked for a phone number or address to the corporate office to let someone else know about the problems we have had with this company, and Joel told me they don't have a corporate number or address and that there was no one else I could speak to. I have never been so stressed and treated so rudely from a company we were dealing with to have work done on our home. We recently had windows and doors replaced and had an amazing experience with the other companies we worked with. If you want to deal with an honest company that will respect your business and not talk down to you, find another company.

He said he was going home to get into a bed. This is the weakest company I have ever seen. I can't say enough bad things about this company. I want a refund since they stole my money and time. We had Empire Today put down Armstrong tiles in the kitchen and in the foyer of the house. The flooring doesn’t break easily, and it's easy to clean and maintain. My wife has a much easier time with it. Empire had an older gentleman who was experienced to do the installation. He knew exactly what to do on the tile floor because I had an old floor that was there before and then he was able to lay the floor on top of it, which worked out well.

The problem was that he missed the piece of the tile in the corner along the cabinetry on the left side of the front door. It was about an inch and a half from the cabinet and you could see it as you walk by. It wasn’t even in the back. It won't come out for 10 years. After the installer walked out, I went at Empire for it and said, “You're gonna have to send this guy that did the work. I want that piece installed. They were paid very well for what they had done.” The floor was not bad. It was just a missed piece and then the refrigerator got slid back against this spot with no flooring.

After about two or three days of complaining here and there, someone called me back and supposedly made an appointment for them to show up on a particular day. They apologized for it and told me it would be that day and they would have the man come back and finish the job. Then the day came and half a day went by, we hadn't heard from anybody. We called and complained about it. They said, “Oh, he's a little behind. He'll be there before we close up at 5:00 today.” No one ever showed. So consequently, I ended up doing the repair myself. For something that was quite expensive, I'm quite annoyed and would never wanna have Empire in my house again. Also, I would never recommend them again.

Empire Today = upcharges & EXCUSES. Went to Empire Today to find a replacement floor for our condo which was damaged due to plumbing repairs under the concrete slab. We made Empire Today aware of our situation (displaced to a hotel during repairs). Found a LVP product and special ordered it on February 4. Our contract included floor prep, leveling and some appliance moving.

Feb 17th install crew arrives. Informs us that the concrete sub floor will require more leveling than what we paid for originally. We were also informed that they did not have enough product to do the diagonal install which we also PAID extra floor when we special ordered the flooring. We got a call and were told that leveling with Merkrete Pro Patch AL1 (20 bags) nw was required for approx $1800. After reminding them we already paid for leveling they reduced the price to $1300 and within an hour dropped it again to $1000. We went to the Empire Today location in Fairfax to negotiate a solution in person. We reluctantly agreed to a price for the floor leveling "upgrade".

Feb 23 installers came and did the Merkrete Pro Patch AL1 leveling. We agreed to not do the front coat closet as it has glued down engineered wood and we THOUGHT the flooring would be installed NO LATER THAN Sat. Feb 25th. When asked what the next step and when we would need to be back at the property no response was given. They PROMPTLY took MORE MONEY from us at that time.

Feb 24th after Empire Today MADE NO CONTACT WITH US, we started calling them for an update on our install. We were finally told at around 4 pm (note we both took off an entire day of work to be available for their installers) that the LVP product was "damaged by weather". We asked where the additional amount of floor supposedly ordered on Feb 17th for the diagonal install was, no response. We asked for a date when the replacement for the damaged flooring was to arrive AGAIN NO RESPONSE. So here we are waiting for our floor forced to stay in a hotel @ $129/night BECAUSE EMPIRE TODAY CAN'T GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER.

Empire Today installed rugs about a month ago at my house. I also had tiles installed in the kitchen. The rugs are comfortable and they told me to cleanse the tile floor with just plain water. The person who came here for a consult also told me that the rugs have a warranty for 30 years while the tiles have a lifetime warranty. It cost me enough money but everything looks nice.

However, when they were installing it, the alarm kept going off and they ended up cutting through two of the wires of my alarm. I had to have the guy out here and it was $200. I'm still waiting to get reimbursed from Empire. They said it would take about two months to get that check, so hopefully I'll hear by the end of this month.

    Reviewed Feb. 22, 2017

Let me start by saying that all I wanted was my bathroom re-tiled. Empire was unable to meet their part of the contract and it never happened. They left me a mess. The original consultation was by a gentleman who was very uneducated in regards to flooring installation and basic instructions. He told us that the toilet would be removed and replaced upon installation (for $125), and he assured us multiple times that the sink and vanity do NOT need removed, the installers work around it. I was confused by this. However, this is the first time having our bathroom floor redone so we went with what he said. Should've been a red flag. He also lifted up a broken tile and told us the subfloor looked okay.

The day of installation the gentlemen that came spoke poor English. He was also unhappy that the sink wasn't removed and said they absolutely cannot remove the sink/vanity and that they aren't allowed. He pulled up some of the tile and subfloor and told me that the subfloor had water damage and needed to come up. He also said there was a second subfloor that was fine. He told me to remove the sink, pull up the tile and subfloor and he could return later in the day to install the floor. He also recommended using grout for the job because my floor was slightly uneven. With a crying 3 month old baby I pulled the sink and vanity and removed it from the bathroom. I wasn't equipped with the tools or time to pull the floor so I called Empire.

I told them what had happened and questioned why I had been given the task of removing the tile and subfloor when I paid a large sum of money to have it done for me. I also told them about the sink. They had no idea why this happened and assured me that they are supposed to pull the tile and are capable of pulling the subfloor and replacing it if needed. The customer service manager had spoken to the installation manager and had rescheduled the installer to come back 2 days later because they needed to order the grout. I wasn't happy because my bathroom floor was torn up by the bathtub making my shower unusable because the floor and subfloor needed to stay dry. This is my only bathroom.

My husband called the customer service manager the day before installation to ensure there would be no issue removing and replacing the subfloor. She assured him that this would happen and was within the installer's scope and in my contract. I double checked my contract as well and in the section of subfloor it stated that the Empire installers can repair or replace the subfloor if deemed necessary.

The 2nd day the installers came it was a different group. They knew nothing of what happened the prior day and simply expected to have to lay the tile. Not only did the installer not come equipped with plywood, he also said he didn't feel comfortable doing it and that he's never replaced subfloor. He simply stated that he could simply put a new one on top (which doesn't sound like repair or replace to me) but it wasn't possible now due to the previous installers pulling up part of my subfloor. They even pulled up more subfloor to see what they were working with.

I spoke with one of their supervisors on the phone and he simply said that he has to go with what his installers are telling him. He asked me if the installers touched any more of the floor and I told him that they pulled up more of my subfloor for basically no reason. He wasn't happy about that. At that moment I knew that I was fed up and simply cancelled. That decision was supported by Empire seeing as that couldn't do the job. My bathroom was left with the floor and subfloor partially torn apart. Sink and vanity removed. Again, my only bathroom, with a family of 5.

In the days after I've received calls and emails from Empire. The emails are sent by a different person each time trying to offer deals to get me to replace my order. They basically just want my money. I emailed one person back and told them my issue and received no response. I received 2 calls while I was at work over 2 days. The first message I was unable to make out one word of what was being said. I feel like that was a technical issue on their part. The second call simply requested a call back. I called back to a number that put me on hold for 10 minutes, then hung up on me. I called back and left a message, never received a call back.

When discussing my experience with others I regret not asking around before doing this - Empire has a bad rep from everyone I've spoken to. I actually talked to someone that has a family member that works for them and he said their installers are trained on the job (meaning they pretty much have no idea what they're doing). He also said that all they care about is volume and want to get in and out as quickly as possible. They just want their money. Not to mention the contract has the price listed, but NO breakdown of costs in terms of labor, materials, etc. It's funny how they advertise that they price match, however, you don't know how much their stuff actually is. Ultimately, there's no communication. No care for their mistakes. No care for their misleading contract. And no care for following up to resolve any issues. I'll make sure that everyone I know is aware of this experience so that they don't have to ever go through what I did.

Warning: Our bank disputed on our behalf, and we won so Empire will likely mark this review as "customer not responsive" because they have not stopped harassing us. For consumers: We got vinyl floor from them in April 2016, and to keep it short, product was substandard and install never completed. We were supposed to get carpet as well a few days after, but when we saw the quality of the actual material they brought, we canceled that portion of work order right away.

We filed a dispute with BBB and ended up having to go through our credit card company to resolve the matter. After several months and countless steps to verify that our claim was legitimate, and that we did in fact try to resolve the matter on our own with Empire to the best of our ability, the credit card company found in our favor. We have a letter from the bank stating this.

So what does Empire do? They have not stopped harassing us stating that there is an open balance for the amount that was disputed and keep threatening to send us into collections. We asked Empire to send us to a collection company because at least the collection company will look at all the paperwork and speak with our bank rep and then maybe we will be finally left alone. But no, we were told their collections is yet another department in house so in essence, the harassment will and has continued going on almost 3 months past date of resolution with the bank.

I like their product and the people that came to do the job were very polite, careful and nice. They cleaned up everything after them and did a great job. However, I didn't like their customer service at all. The sales rep told me that the flooring could withstand four hours of water but that’s not true. The directions say not to put water on it. So, I'm watching that very carefully.

He also told me that I’ll get the warranty when they come to lay down the floor and the carpet, but they didn’t have it. I asked them to FedEx it to me and they said they had to get permission to do that. And then they called back and said they weren’t allowed. I said that I was thinking of cancelling my whole order because I want to see what the warranty says and the woman there said that she can do that for me very easily if that's what I wanted to do. Then I got a call from a gentleman and he told me they would mail it to me and asked if I really wanted to cancel it since I got a good price. I had paid the salesman $550 deposit and the balance was $4,900 and it’s a 12-month no interest through the bank which I like because I can go over there and pay it.

I told my granddaughter about them and she said she got a $7,000 estimate because she was going to do more than what I did. But she told them she wasn’t doing it because that was too much money. A week later, they dropped the price to $3,000. Now, I wonder if I would I have gotten it cheaper too if I did that. And I think that’s a bad recommendation. But apart from their customer service, my experience with Empire Today was very good.

We had hardwood floors installed and the stairs. The stairs wood doesn't match and they didn't finish the trim. I have called Matt the sales guy, he has never returned any phone calls. Called customer service and the First Lady who answered said the pictures I sent didn't match and Amy would return my call. Amy returned my call and looked at the pictures and said she talked to the guys and they match. I took the pictures to several business and they all said they didn't match. She didn't help at all and has never called again!

The installers didn't speak English very well and when I said I want them to rip it out and redo it they said it looked good. And that the oak doors didn't match it anyway. I said I know that but I don't want 3 different colors of wood in the house. When my husband got home from work I had to leave I as a woman I felt It was very demeaning. They didn't think I knew the difference in colors. They didn't finish the trim on the stairs up and down. I asked and was told they don't do that. Really we paid extra for it. Matt should have told my husband that it was not included and we would have did another option. It looks like I did the trim. It's very disappointing that the sales guy Matt doesn't return any phone calls. I guess once it's sold there's no follow through. Very upset and disheartening that a Huge company treats anyone like that. Let alone a woman. Please respond.

We called Empire and they told us that they would send someone out to fix the problem since the original contractors forgot to put the moisture reading in the contract which was probably the issue under the laminate. They did send someone. I saw them do the reading which showed that there was moisture on the slab yet they said that due to their contractor that came out said that he felt that it came from on top, they refused to honor their warranty. We were moving to Nevada, so we had our previous house in Indiana put up in the market. I then called Empire Today to install carpeting on the stairs, family room and the landings at the base of the stairs. When we were getting ready to move, I called Empire but they said that they can come get me next Monday. I thought it was supposed to be the next day but they said it's the next day from when they come and measure. I was putting up the house on Wednesday so I told them that if they come out on Monday, they have to be able to install the carpet on Tuesday, and they agreed. The salesman was super nice and they did cut some off the price before they even told me because they knew what I thought I was going to spend.

Then, Monday comes around, the guy comes out to measure my carpet. He then said that they can come on Thursday and install it. At that point, I flipped out on him because my house is going on the market on Wednesday. Pictures are done, everything's in and we need to sell the house. I just want to get the carpeting changed and I want it done for day one. They promised that they will come the next day and I can't have them doing the carpet while people are walking through my house. So he called and he'd put it in for Tuesday.

They really need to be honest about the schedule, although once the carpet got in, the installers did a great job. Everyone who came said that it was a great carpet and that it was the softest. They loved it and the kids play on it all the time. In fact, I sold my house on the first day that it went on the market, which wouldn't have happened had I not have the carpet. We lived in it for about a month afterwards and we were super glad we had done it once it was done. I ended up spending different but that's okay. I loved the carpet.

I wasn't satisfied with the quality of the carpet I had before because it was already at my apartment when I got here. But I'm quite satisfied with this new one. It looks luxurious and it's so wonderful. Unfortunately, I have to wait until I've paid my bills out before I get some more for the four other rooms that I have. Also, the lady representative that sold me the carpet was quite nice. She told me how to get it cleaned but I haven't had it cleaned yet.

It was a little headache with him because he measured wrong. He gave me the wrong estimate and then they wouldn't give me the carpet. Then some lady had to call. The salesperson gave the office feedback about the customer, and he said I couldn't afford the carpet or was looking for a cheaper price. But how did he know that when we never really discussed it. But overall, I was satisfied with Empire.

We had Empire install hardwood in our bedroom and hallway. They have better cost and quality, and we like the color of the floor. I was willing to buy another box because I wanted to do a hot bath that we had. We’re doing a new construction, so I called Empire up and said if I can just buy a box and I'll install it myself. And they said somebody will reach me in 48 hours. I waited about noon the next day and nobody called. So I called them, “Oh, somebody’s calling you this evening. Don’t worry about it. That 24 hours is 24 business hours.” I replied, “So you mean, you all are not calling me back for 3 days?” The rep said that somebody will call me this evening before 5 o’clock. Well, I called them back about 4 o’clock and said, “You all are not calling me back.” She said, “Well, I’m sorry, let me see what I can do.”

So she got back on the phone and then I told her what has happened and next thing I know, the phone hung up. I was getting upset but I let it go. I went through the next day and called them back. They told me, “Oh, we can help you out. It ain’t a problem.” Then I found out that they don’t sell just the boxes. I asked them why and the rep said, “We just don’t sell boxes. We have to come out and install them, and all.” I said that’s not true because when a salesman’s out here for my floor, he told me, "Do you want us to install it or do you want to install it?” And the rep on the phone said, “No, if you install it yourself, it voids the warranty.” So of course, I just had them install it.

It didn’t make no sense. Here I am, a satisfied customer, happy with everything, and you’re all going to ruin everything over one box of floor. Now I will have people come in to my house looking at this floor and they’d go just like, "Ah, where did you get this?” And I’m going to say, “Empire Today but don’t ever use them because they got bad customer service.” The sales rep and installer were just as nice as they could be but there was nothing they could do. They just blew my sale through a box of flooring.

The most frustrating thing was the run around. If there’s a rule, they need to tell somebody instead of leading them on for a week. Surely, everybody knows the rules or the procedures. Why didn’t somebody tell me that? I would recommend the salesman and the installers every day. The salesman knows the product and he goes through it and takes time with it. The installers did a professional job and didn’t leave any mess. Everything was topnotch until I had to deal with customer service.

It not only looks like an inferior product but appears more like vinyl linoleum than wooden flooring as requested. This was selected to match the beautiful wooden steps on my stairway. This is not the case.

I called the local manager and to this day, now February 2017 and 3 months later, have not received even a phone call from him. I challenged the payment through American Express, and a female service representative called, not to listen to my concerns, but to tell me that there was no recourse, no adjustment, absolutely nothing that would be done by Empire. I could not recommend Empire Today for flooring needs. There is a reason they demand payment up front.

We had laminate flooring installed September 8 at the cost of 6359.86. At first it looked nice but we went away for a few days the end of September and came home to a 4 to 5 foot section of our kitchen floor lifted and bowed. About 2 to 3 inches off the floor. I called since the salesman said it was a lifetime warranty. They sent someone in a van from NY (we live in PA and not near the NY border). A female sat in the van while he came in to inspect. He looked at it and was arguing it was water that did this. Mind you I had not even mopped it yet. Only used a swiffer dry mop and we have no small children spilling things. Our home is a ranch over a heated garage. He then wanted to inspect down in the garage for leaking pipes which he did not find!

More time went by and then Empire called saying they were sending out another inspector. This one did not work for the company so was neutral. He examined and wrote a recommendations for repairs. Couldn't tell us what was wrong but agreed it WAS NOT water that caused the damage. I since have had 2 contractors come and explain that the flooring was installed too tight and with the temperature changes it could not expand so it lifted. They also said if it weren't for the furniture throughout the other rooms keeping it down they most likely will do the same. They also said we were charged way too much money for what we got.

Empire called to set up a date to repair the flooring. They called in October or beginning of November. The first date they could fix it was January 30th!!! Gee when they were taking our money they got here the next day. Anyway they called the morning of the 30th saying they would be here in an hour or two. The contractor called and said he would be here around 1130. I took the day off of work so I would be home. Then around 1130 the contractor called and said he couldn't make it and we need to reschedule!! I called and told them we want our money back, we are very dissatisfied and we will have someone that knows what they are doing replace it. Still waiting for a response. All of our friends and family saw the flooring at our Christmas open house. Not good advertising for you Empire.

These are the problems leading up to today. On October 5, 2016 wood laminate flooring installed throughout 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room and hallway. We were told it was going to be a 2-day job and yet this installer, Miguel was in such a rush, he completed the job in one day. No one from Empire ever told us they were going to be using an electric saw to cut the wood laminates and borders in my home. When the crew arrived and told this to my husband, he asked if they were going to cover the furniture because of the dust the sawing was going to cause. The head crew member, Miguel, assured my husband everything would be covered. However, that was not the case. I had dust all throughout my house. It was disgusting.

Then on top of that when they were done it was late and the lighting was not good in my home. Miguel asked us to check out the work and let him know if anything was wrong. We asked him to walk with us but he refused. Well it turned out sections of the wood laminate were defective and some of the borders around the house were poorly cut and installed. I contacted Empire and eventually, they came to fix the problems. However, we continue to have the same problems with the saddles and there are parts of the floor that have gaps. In addition, you can now see other defects on the flooring such as lifting, cracking, etc.

We have been in constant touch with Empire Today and they have provided nothing but horrible customer service and overcharged us for material we had to pay for ourselves. There have been several occasions where we stayed home waiting for them and no one showed up. They do not stand by their guarantee of their flooring and all I want is for them to have someone competent come to our home to take care of our problems once and for all. I am totally frustrated at this point and so I thought post my complaint on this website in hopes of a resolution.

But it is a great floor and probably worth the price. It might be 20 or 30 years old and then if we replaced it three or four times, it would make up the difference between $2,800. Other than that, everything is perfect. It looks like real wood and the workmanship is excellent. Their people are very polite and kind. Everybody likes everything about our flooring.

"We strive for Perfect-10 performance and your complete satisfaction". Although my sister and mother have had good luck with Empire Today, I did not have the same experience. I knew I might be in trouble, when Empire started throwing around, $100-$200 additional discount offers. Conveniently, I never got see a break down, so really it felt like flimflam. Initially I scheduled an appt with a sales rep who gave me three choices. After talking with the rep, I told him that I needed a day to think about my options. The next day I received a phone call from a customer service rep named Eric, he asked why I didn't go with Empire, and that he could "rerun the numbers" and cut my cost in half. He then scheduled a new sales rep appointment, and the same guy came out. Supposedly all of this was documented in Empire had all of this documented, but the sales rep (same guy as first time) came out, and was totally unaware of the rep's discussion with me.

He then made the excuse that the rep probably chose a cheaper material, and told me he couldn't really do anything. Okay, well I was already getting a pretty decent deal, but I decided I'd only do one room instead of three. I wanted to see if I could trust Empire at all. Well when the installation date came, I had two men come who really weren't all that professional in manner. Granted they installed the carpet well, but it felt like I had to guide them through the process. I had to ask them to show me the material, and when I'd ask them questions I would initially get a sarcastic or joke answer before getting the real answer. They left my door open unnecessarily resulting in my house getting cold (currently 48F). While they cleaned up the area, they still left a bit of a mess that I will have to pick up.

They asked me how much I paid for the installation (Why?). One of the guys took a dump in my bathroom, and didn't even have the courtesy to turn on the fan, stinking up my house. Going forward I will not use Empire today because overall I feel like they are unprofessional and do not care. The perfect 10 performance is just lip service.

One star is too many in my opinion at this point. We had the upgraded padding installed under the new carpet in our home. After less than a year it sounds like you are walking on newspapers. We called Empire and they sent someone out to inspect and he said it was bad. Keep in mind we had to give them a 90.00 check for this. The "expert" stated that corporate would be calling to come and replace it and our money would be refunded. The check was immediately cashed by Empire. It is now 6 weeks later and we still have no answers and we are being told another "expert" must come out to look at the carpet but only after we pay to have the carpet professionally cleaned. Keep in mind this carpet is not dirty.

They have been completely lacking in communication and completely unreasonable. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told no. I was promised a call back the very next day numerous times and have received nothing. So not only is their product inferior, their customer service is unacceptable as well. My wife is in real estate and is making sure to share her experiences at every conference she attends. BEWARE!

After we purchased the flooring, nothing that was agreed was done when we were assured it would be. The sales rep would not reply to calls or texts and she stressed I had three days to cancel the contract, but neglected to tell me that that was only if we had special orders, i.e. windows treatments or blinds. They did not come when they agreed, I took a day off from work to be there, my stepson is deaf and is very uncomfortable around people he doesn't know. I could not be there to check the installation although I had made arrangements to be there on the day I was told the installation would occur.

There apparently is no concern for the consumer once the purchase is made. The work is contracted out I would guess to the cheapest quote. Not at anytime did I speak to the same person although I had called at least six times. You will not be given a number to call the installer. Empire Carpet is listed in Illinois but doesn't have officers listed with the Secretary of State that I could find. If you wanted to speak to someone other than the customer service center I could find no way to contact them. All in all, there is no way I would recommend this company to anyone. EVER.

This is the 2nd time I used Empire for both carpet and tile. I was very pleased with the previous installations. This time, it was the worst experience. The ceramic tile was to be installed in the Jack and Jill bath. Then, carpet was to be stalled in the bedroom. The installers got to my home at 11:49 am and claimed they needed to leave. They came back around 1:30 pm. They did not leave my house until 11:45 pm. Then, the area around one vanity was not completed. I told the installers that my work was not complete. They claimed they would be back the next day.

I was to have the carpet installed the next day. I called Empire and everyone feigned the inability to completely grasp this situation. I want to be compensated for my time, incompetence and mistrust of this company. I requested that the same installers not come back to complete the job. They sent the same 2 installers. The tiles are shotty and do not line up. I told them to fix them and they left my home.

Empire Today installed laminate flooring on the main level of my town home. After installation, we noticed that the kitchen was significantly lower than the dinning room which caused our table to sit at a noticeable slope. 8 months later, we had our fridge repaired which resulted in a leak and caused damage to the floor. I contacted Empire to come out and give me an estimate on a repair of the damaged boards. I also asked for them to look at the level issue.

An installer came out and insisted that it was level until I showed him with a level that it was not in fact level. I then spoke with the service manager whom quoted me $800. When I told her the issue with the level was not our fault she changed the quote to $758. Several weeks later, the installer came out to replace the boards and level the floor. The installer installed boards that were the same color but a different finish. The boards that were replaced were noticeably duller than the ones initially installed. I contacted the service manager twice before hearing back.

When I spoke with the service manager I asked that the boards be replaced with the correct ones or a refund be issued. The manager told me they don't always have the same boards so they usually don't match. The manager then stated she would not issue a refund because they did the work and were repairing something that was my fault was damaged in the first place. When discussing my concern with her response she asked that I send her some pictures of the boards so she could show the installers and ask if they saw an issue. I did email her the pictures. However, based on her response I'm not expecting much. This company has the worst customer service and is by far the shadiest company I've ever dealt with. Don't waste your money.

I had outdoor carpeting done on my four porches through Empire Today. I was looking at that other brand that was always put on porches. I got it two times before. The first time was very good and lasted a long time. The second time was so thin and weak until it didn't last no time. So, that's why this time I went with this particular brand I got from Empire. The color is a little light and I know that's bad for a porch but the fabric felt good and have some thickness to it and it seem like it was long lasting quality. It's also stain resistant plus it's easy to clean.

The new flooring met my expectations highly. I called them because a couple of spots came unglued and they finally came out and glued them back down. But one of the spots they glued down the same day popped back out. I never did call them back. It just looks like that now. I just see it, I was finally getting around to it. But it really won't stick well in the winter time if I do it so I would just wait until spring.

Now, I am very careful with who I apply with for credit because I have been on a steady upswing credit-wise in repairing my damaged credit, so I am on top of the soft hit hard hit, how many points etc. I took 20 min debating this back and forth. I asked the sales rep what type of hit and what point-wise. He had no clue. (Mind you I wanted to pay cash in a few weeks from now) so the salesman found something on his tablet which stated that the financing would only be a soft pull and not affect point-wise, as well as my report would not even state what hit it was. So in this case, I said ok as long as there is no hard hit...

I was of course declined and my credit alarm went off. It not only hit my credit report. It hit it for 22 points!!! At that. Wry second it dropped like a rocket down 22 points. My stomach just sunk... and I am very upset! I had to work to get it were it was! I really think if you’re going to have sale reps that represent this company, they need to know the answers to all the questions I did my due diligence with. I am extremely bothered by this. You need to have an extra training for just this. That is so very wrong and at the most should have been a 1 point hit! We decided to install hardwood and have hardwood through the entire first level. We wanted the floors to match. I did all the research and reached to different companies for pricing, time of installation and the product. Home Advisor matched us with Empire Today and this was our last vendor to be considered.

When the Sales Rep came through the door, he was nice and engaging. He brought several very small samples, however we were concerned that the wood was not matching. The Sales Man assured us that we will have a perfect match once the floors are installed. He assured us that the Empire today has the best reputation and stands behind its service and product. Unfortunately for us, we decided to go with the Empire today; it was not even about the price, but the confidence of the Sales Person, his, what we thought professional opinion and nice personality, that SOLD us.

To make a long story short, the floors did not match in color or finish. I did not sign on the certificate of satisfaction and filed a claim. It has been over a month now. It has been a nightmare experience. Trying to resolve this, like pulling teeth out. We have invested money, time and emotions into this expensive project. We wanted to add value to our home. Now we have hardwood floors that do not match, we are paying monthly payments for a wrong product installed and dealing with numerous managers on how to resolve this problem.

The Sales Rep refused to speak to us from day one, telling us that it is the Customer Service Issue. It has been ongoing problem... for weeks. We finally had an appointment set up for reselect and, not to be surprised, the Sales Person did not show up! I can't tell you how disappointed we are with this company. I would NEVER recommend the Empire Today or The Home Advisor to anyone. We are stressed out and emotionally drained.

Empire Today was to install flooring in my kitchen and bathroom on Wednesday, January 11th, 2017. I was told that I would receive a call that morning giving me a window of the time the installers were to arrive. Also, I had financed this project with their credit company. The morning of installation I received an automated call stating that they could not give me a time that the installers would be arriving at my home. I immediately called Empire Today's Customer Service to notify them that I would need a call before they were on their way so I could leave work and be there to let them in.

The CS agent contacted the installer while I was on hold. They told me that they were to arrive at my home within the hour. I still requested a phone call when they were on their way just to be sure. I was able to leave work soon after so I headed over to my home. 3 hours late the installers showed up, unannounced. Luckily I was home. Then they proceeded to tell me that I owed them money or they would not work on the install.

I was forced to call CS again to have them verify my financing. 15 minutes later this was all worked out. I made sure they had my number to call me when they were close to finishing so I could come back. They had propped open my screen door and front door and were bringing in the sub flooring and the laminate as I left. About 4 hours later I received a phone call telling me that they were about 15 minutes away from being done. So I headed back home.

When I arrived I noticed that my screen door and front door were still propped open, even though it was 20-something degrees out and hailing. And that my heat had been turned up from 65 degrees to 70 degrees and was still trying to get to the 70 mark, currently at 68 degrees. I don't know why they thought it was okay to touch my thermostat.

As I walked around the kitchen to inspect I noticed a few things. First, my brand new, never been used fridge now had a dent in the front door and a huge gouge all along the side of fridge, very visible. I did not buy this item as "scratch and dent" but it sure looks like I did. Second, my freshly painted kitchen was completely ruined. I still have the tape on the walls along the base board, because I just finished having that painted 2 days before this installation. Every single wall in the kitchen now has to be repainted. I purposely had that done before I had the flooring put in so it wouldn't get on my new floors. None of this should have happened in there. They only had to move the fridge around to do their work. There is not a stove in this room yet.

Then I headed to the bathroom where they were just putting the toilet back into place. No visible damage up there, even though it's a much smaller room. My only concern was that they opened up my shower doors. Again, not sure why that was done. As I stood in the living room they took all of their equipment outside while I spoke with one of the men. I was asking him about how the scratches, gouges and dents happened. He didn't seem concerned at all by these things. The other went outside and didn't come back in. I added the damages that I saw to the work order that I signed and he left.

As I walked around looking at all the garbage that was left laying around my house (including their water bottles, food wrapper, napkins, wrapping, pieces of the borders, tons of dust) I noticed that my toilet was running. Then flushing. Then running. Then flushing. Then running. So I called CS about this problem. It took them 15 to decide to call the installers back to fix this problem.

The installers pulled up and went to the bathroom. They were in there a few minutes. One of them told me that it's not their fault and blamed the toilet. Even though it was working perfectly before they disconnected and reconnected it. He went outside. Another one of the guys walked out the front door. Then the third installer walked outside too. All 3 were on their cell phones. The one I had been talking with before told me that they were leaving. He was speaking to me through screen door. I asked if they fixed it. He said they shut off the water and were going to get a part to fix it. Then they all left.

So I waited, and waited and waited. Finally I called CS to ask them what was going on. I was told that the installers don't know how to fix it so they were not coming back. And was given nothing else. I told them that this needed to be taken care of immediately. I don't understand why they thought it was okay to leave me without a working toilet. They said they would have to figure out how to fix this problem and would call me back. I was supposed to have carpeting installed the next day but I told them to put that on hold until this was all worked out.

I did not hear back from them that night. The next morning I received an automated call telling me that my carpet installers would be at my home sometime that day, again not giving me any idea when they would come at all. Even though I had cancelled this. So I called CS again. Firstly, to cancel my install again and secondly, to find out the status of my request to fix all the damage done to my home.

They cancelled my install again. Then the agent told me that she would update my request to "urgent" in their system. A few minutes later I received a call from the carpet installer asking what day I was going to get this installed. Not sure why that even happened, since I specifically said I wasn't even sure that carpet install was going to happen after all the damage caused by the flooring.

I received a phone call hours later asking me to send in pictures of the damage in an email. Still no update on when I was going to have a working toilet in my home again. I sent in a ton of pictures of the fridge and paint damage as well as the garbage left behind. All were blocked by their company email server. I emailed him a separate time, without pictures, letting him know this. I heard nothing more that day, Thursday, January 12th, 2017.

Friday, January 13th, 2017, I received a call back from Empire. They want to send someone out to "have a look" at my toilet on January 18th, a full week after breaking my toilet. Not fix it, just to look and see if they are responsible for the damage done. I'm not sure why they think it's okay to leave me without a working toilet for even that night, let alone a week.

I told them it needs to be sooner. I'm not sure why this is so hard to take care of, there's tons of plumbers around who can make house calls. I told him no, that's unacceptable to leave me without a working toilet for a week. The next thing I heard was that my contact would be out of the office for the next 3 days. The workmanship on the trim is also terrible. The corners aren't joined together, it's cut short in a few places and not joined to the wall in another area.

Empire customer service took care of the issues. They are doing what is right (in my opinion) and rectifying the situation. The manager that I spoke to was very understanding. Just to be clear, the installers were never an issue. They did an awesome job. I had an issue with the sales process and the sales person we had, giving us wrong information about their product. I am happy that Empire is making us whole. I will use them again (provided we do not get the same sales person).

    Original Review: Jan. 16, 2017

3 years ago Empire installed engineered hardwoods in our dining room and office. Did a great job and loved it so much that we called them again to replace our breakfast room, kitchen, foyer, stairs and 2nd floor landing with the same flooring that we previously used. Unfortunately, the salesman said that the floor is no longer available. He said that he had something similar and we wouldn't even notice the difference. We specifically told him we would like it glued instead of floating. The salesman said that it couldn't be done. He also said that the new product was superior to the old stuff (except it can't be glued). We spent over $10k for the floor to be installed.

Fast forward 3 weeks. My wife has been nagging Empire because of nicks everywhere. The same guys that installed the floor just left my house for the "service" call. He said that we should have had the floor glued. It wouldn't move if it was glued and the corners wouldn't be rubbing against each other which is causing the nicks.

I have contacted Empire about all this and have yet to hear back. I would have paid extra to have the floors glued instead of floating. The floors don't feel the same underfoot. The older glued ones feel solid. The new flooring feels like cheap laminate when walking on them. I would love for Empire to do the right thing and make these floors right. I want to make this perfectly clear... The installers did a great job and did exactly what they were supposed to do. My issue is with the sales process and the customer service that we have had thus far. We are contemplating going through the Better Business Bureau and if nothing comes of that, looking at legal actions.

However when they showed up, they discovered in the bathroom that the sink and vanity had to be removed because the tile went all the way underneath. As a result, they didn't feel comfortable moving it because it had a granite countertop. At that point, the work stopped and we had to go about trying to find someone to move the vanity before Empire could come back and finish the job. We had a highly difficult time in doing so. Nobody wanted to deal with the countertop. I called in a contractor, but we still haven't gotten it removed. Empire also installed a little bit of carpet for us, but that was a different crew. I was anxious to get a quote from Empire. After doing quite a bit of research, I was under the impression that I would be very happy with their customer service. I could not have been more wrong. My appt was set for 8-10 in the am. After waiting till 10:30 and still no rep or phone call to explain the delay, I decided to give them a phone call. After giving my name to the client service rep, I was placed on hold and told that I did not have an appt scheduled for this particular day. I told the rep that I was looking at my two confirmation emails and asked if she wanted my customer account ID number. I was told no, and placed back on hold. When she returned I was informed that actually my appt was scheduled for 3-6 in the evening. I again said that I was looking at my confirmation email and asked if she wanted my ID number. Third time I am placed on hold and then told that actually I had canceled my appt and rescheduled for the following day.

This time I just gave her my ID number and she told that she would call the Sales Rep. After being placed on hold again, she told me that actually my Sales Rep had been stuck on icy roads and would be at my house in about 20 mins. I was startled by her response, as there were no icy roads around. At 10:40 the Rep showed up, with little explanation of his tardiness other than to say that he was held up at another job. Story was a bit different from the lady whom I had spoken with on the phone.

After going around my home and looking at both the carpet and flooring I wanted replaced, he spent a large portion of the appt criticizing what I currently have for flooring in my home. I was repeatedly told what poor quality I had, and what a terrible job had been done in laying the flooring. As I had picked out and purchased the flooring I had, and a friend of mine had laid it...I did not find his remarks necessary.

Obviously I wanted my entire home redone, that is why I had called you out. I did not find his remarks in slamming what I currently have a necessary sales pitch, it seemed in poor taste to me. Needless to say, by the time he had given me the estimate, I had already decided that if this was the type of customer service Empire gives, I was not interested in having them work in my home. I was extremely disappointed and have already looked elsewhere for my flooring needs.

I'm a repeat customer of Empire Today and I like the ease of dealing with them including their next day service. Everything else went beautifully with the exception of the bounded carpet. That didn't go so smooth and the carpet didn't turn out to be a very good quality product, but the salesman warned me about that. So I can't hold the salesman accountable for that.

We've had Home Depot put in carpeting for us before and it only lasted a year. This time we got Empire Today to put the carpeting throughout the apartment we have in Philadelphia, except for the bathroom. It's an apartment we sold so we wanted to put the best foot forward there a little bit hence we've put in the new carpeting, kitchen, and everything. We went with Empire because of the price and the fact that they take everything away. The salesman was very knowledgeable and he helped us quite a bit on the texture and carpeting. We let him decide on the color for us, which came out well, and we liked the color and pattern. During installation, they played some loud music and that didn't go over too good with some of the other people since it was a condo with a lot of other condos. We told them about it and they turned it down. It was a good experience, nonetheless.

When we had the house built we had white carpet put in, and I was forever washing traffic areas and I got tired of that. Our new carpet from Empire Today is really pretty and I like it. It's a cross between brown and cream, and the threads are twisted with the different colors. It's supposed to not soak in any liquid, so all I have to do is gently wipe it up and it's fixed. However, trying to get a hold of our salesperson was a challenge which we never completed. The guy was very good in his sales, but when I tried to call him three times after that, they never called me back. But the two guys that came out to install were very informative. We had questions and we had the installation scheduled so we asked the questions when they got here. They helped move the furniture that we couldn't move and it was all great after that.

I had used Empire Today 3 times before and was very satisfied. BUT this time I kept telling the installers get rid of these "bubbles". Also, the installers left spots that had a 2" gap of NO PADDING in 3 different spots, and one wall had no tack strip down and was just laying on the floor. Along a short wall the carpet wasn't long enough and you could see the nylon weaving with no carpet. They also demolished, cracked my baseboards beyond repair. They came back and corrected the problem with the padding and nylon weaving showing and no tack strip. Only to discover a staple which looks awful. And one spot the carpet and padding dips about 1" BELOW my baseboard!

I asked the installer when are they going to fix the CRACKED custom baseboard. He told me to "just go to Home Depot and get a piece and replace it". I told him that would require about 5 hours of my time getting it, cutting it and painting then installing. He took a picture and promised he would address it with his "manager". After 2 weeks had gone by I called customer service. The installer didn't say a word about it! The customer representative was very RUDE and wanted me to let it go, but ended up giving me $100 compensation for the cracked baseboard probably just to make me go away! I called and called and got no response before speaking with her. I spent good hard earned money and a very expensive nice carpet looks like CRAP because of the installation was done haphazardly and recklessly! Never Again will I even consider going through Empire again!

When I got my carpet not even a year ago yet. I was wanting carpet that would withstand two dogs and a toddler. I was told the kind of carpet we have would not be flattened as long as I vacuumed 3 to 4 times a week. I vacuum every single morning and also regularly carpet shampoo my floor. My carpet is so flattened completely down in some spots you can't feel any padding underneath. I knew that it would happen in high traffic areas but it just seems like all over the carpet is the flattening and looks dingy and old. If I would've gotten the correct information about the kind of carpet we wanted from the salesman, I would have chose something completely different than this kind.

I called Empire today and explained how my carpet looks and all they had to say was "get your carpet steam cleaned". I've done that and it made no difference. After not even a year my carpet shouldn't look like it's carpet that I have had for 10 years. I take very good care of my carpet, so to have it look like it does makes me believe their carpet is not good quality.

We went straight to Empire because of two reasons. One was I used Empire before over at my condominium and I was very pleased. And the second reason is we had a laminate floor put in by my son. He does the laminate work and we told him we were going to go with carpet in the living room. He said, "You want to go with Empire. They'll do the best job. You'll get the best value." So we were already thinking about Empire then we got that endorsement, so we did it.

We had carpet installed in the living room, in our stairway and in our landing upstairs. It was a great experience from the time the sales guy came out until the work was done. The flooring looks good and it's working just fine for us. I like the color of it and the way it goes with the rest of the room. The gentleman that sold it to us told us about the feature that guards against pet urine being a problem going into the pad. We got that feature so that if there's anything spilled or any liquid goes on the carpet, we can clean it up with soap and water and it doesn't go into the pad. That's not a general problem for us but we really like that feature.

First time customer and our experience with Empire Today has been a nightmare and very disappointing. We had a salesman who showed up on time with a nice selection of hardwood floor options, we selected one and agreed to a price and a contract was signed with our initial deposit accepted. Install date set and installers showed up with all hardwood material we had selected and per the contract we had to pay the full amount before installation could start, so we provided a check for the full amount.

At that point is when our problems started. The installer was not a professional as he started on our stairs and actually installed two different colors of hardwood. The stair nose did not match our selected hardwood and stair nose was installed with a lip instead of flush causing a trip hazard and the wrong type of glue was being used for stair installation. We requested the work to stop until the correct stair nose material that actually matched our selected hard wood color could be delivered.

We were told the proper stair nose color was being shipped, two days later a new install team showed up and still the stair nose was not a matching color for the selected hardwood and we were told over and over this was the matching stair nose color and it was obviously not and the Empire Today team finally confessed there was not a matching stair nose for our selected hardwood. At that point we requested all material be removed and our order canceled since Empire Today was unable to provide matching hardwood materials for completing the order.

Over a two week period we have been attempting to get a confirmation from Empire Today that our order was canceled and refund is being processed. We have spoken with multiple Empire Today employees and each time has been a very unpleasant experience and we still don't have confirmation our refund is being processed. Multiple voicemails have been left with no response from Empire Today. So at this point they have our money ($10K) but failed to deliver the exact hardwood flooring that we purchased and we are left with bare stairs and floors in our house until we can obtain our refund money and hoping Consumer Affairs will be of some help. We have also raised an online complaint with the BBB today.

They put new carpeting in that was a little bit thicker than the old carpeting so the closet door and the door to the room were a little bit tight. They told me that the doors would have to get cut down or I could wait and maybe I'll get used to it. It was ridiculous but it was a long day and so I was happy to do it myself the next day. But if I had been some little old lady and let them get away when they seemed not to wanna do it, then there won't be a solution for me. Working with Empire Today's sales reps was a joke. I had one sales rep come out, do the measurements, and quote a price, but for some reason nobody ever came back out to do the follow up. Then another sales rep came out and did the measurements, but quoted me something totally different. So we had to finagle back and forth with that and I ended up getting the cheaper price. The day that they came out to lay my carpet, the first sales rep’s carpet was on the truck and the second sales rep's carpet was also on the truck with the incorrect carpet that I ordered. So they had to come back with the correct measurements again and come back once more with the correct carpet to lay it.

I told Empire Today that I thought their sales reps lacked training. How can one sales rep quote me one price then the next sales rep will tell me that I should have never ever been quoted that price? It was just a mess. The installation team was great though but some of my carpet is already coming up away from the wall so I will have to call Empire again.

Absolutely never again. I choose a carpet for a rental property. The installation day arrived. Two cowboys arrived to install my carpet. No surprise they couldn't install the carpet. The reasons were endless, but apparently it was their last day working with Empire, so I gather that had more to do with it than the carpet. Anyway the story goes on, I eventually get new carpet and it gets installed. I am left with a hole in one of my doors and greasy finger marks all over my white doors. I took photos with my phone and sent them to the Sales Manager, to which I was going to get a reimbursement of $200.00 to replace the door, just for the record this has never shown up, it has never been paid.

Now to top it all off the carpet is lifting. I ring and schedule an appointment to have this looked at and hopefully repaired. Guess who got stood up, I got a no show. I rang not sure why I had to, as they said this was the time available. I was told the person would be there in 3 hours, well no he wasn't yet again. I did receive a phone call finally from a man my husband said sounded drunk only to tell me he can't come - well isn't that a surprise, no not really. So now we are waiting for another phone call to tell me when they are available, even though I have already put a whole day aside waiting.

I would not recommend using Empire under any circumstances they do not stay by their word. I just used Lowe's for carpet and wonderful experience from start to finish. So Empire cannot only not lay carpet without damaging a person's property they do not care afterwards. The rental is leased to my adult son who takes excellent care of the home.

This July past I had $13000 of hardwood flooring installed by Empire. Within weeks of the install, cracks and splitting began to appear. Empire was called and replaced two boards. As weeks passed more splitting and cracking began to appear. Empire sent the installers to inspect the damage and conveyed they would return to complete the repairs. Appointments were made however, were never kept. After several phone calls Empire sent what they called an "independent" inspector to inspect the flooring. They chose the inspector. The inspection took approximately 10 minutes. The report was never sent to me although I requested a copy several times. According to Empire the inspector stated the probability of a moisture problem and subsequent drying of the wood, etc. Please note that this was a complete rip up of the top and subfloor... Empire installed a new plywood subfloor and 5/8 finished hardwood.

My home is centrally air conditioned which control both temperature and humidity. For heat I have hot water baseboard which is considered one of the best methods of home heating. The temperature in my home never exceeds 75 degrees and never falls below 64 all year round. The humidity is consistently between 35 and 45. The basement is finished and is also centrally cooled and heated. The inspector did not request to drill and test holes to ensure an accurate test however, only monitored the surface. My home is ideal for storing "anything" as the temperature and humidity is controlled year round. The idea of voiding a warranty to me is ludicrous from a company that prides itself on customer satisfaction. I am not looking for anything other than replacement of the damaged wood which amount to 14 small pieces out of hundreds or compensation to have an outside contractor complete the repair.

Their claims of moisture or any other reason is absurd as the conditions in my home are ideal for any type flooring. I am not a laymen and consider myself competent and educated and have decades of contracting and mechanical experience. In my opinion, the plywood purchased by Empire which was used for the subfloor contained moisture as is typical when purchasing any type of lumber. The hardwood flooring is dried by the manufacturer prior to shipping and packing. The hardwood was dry however the plywood obviously wasn't. The hardwood is nailed to the plywood subfloor, As the subfloor dries the hardwood splits as it is nailed to the subfloor. Either way, there is nothing in my home or anything that was done other than a faulty installation or the bringing in by Empire of a moist subfloor. The splitting has ceased as by this time any expansion or contraction has settled. In request this matter be settled ASAP.

We are so disappointed and they haven't even shown up. If our appointment gets pushed again we are contacting the Better Business Bureau and will pursue complete refund of our deposit!

I had hardwood floors put in for my home by Empire Today, and it has met my expectations. The sales reps that came out were very nice and the guy who installed the flooring by himself was wonderful. I have no complaints with Empire Today at all. In fact, I've recommended to two friends.

When I first moved here, Empire did my whole apartment. Recently, I also got them to install the carpet for my bedroom and my hall. The installers were friendly and cleaned up after themselves. I'd recommend Empire Today.

This has to be the worst company I have ever worked with. The installers horrible. Customer service horrible. Trying to get in touch with someone to fix the repairs that the installers made was impossible. Not to mention they use the worst product I have ever seen and left marks and dents in the floor and they're the installers lol. I spent over $8,000 in flooring with this company and it was the worst money I have ever spent in my life. If you want a recommendation please do not use this company. You will be wasting your money.

With Empire Today there was no money down and no interest. It was convenient to get the carpeting of my home. That helped since my credit had not been so good lately. I like the carpet they have installed in general. The employees are fast and efficient as well. It was a good experience.

I got from Empire Today some flooring and a carpet that was put into my bedroom. The flooring was fine but we're not so happy with the carpet. We had problems with the carpet so the installation team came and worked on it. The carpet is still in the corners not put down correctly and I went round and round with this carpet trying to get it right. But we’re going to go with it because we’re tired of messing with it.

I went with Empire Today because it's a big company and I figured if something went wrong with the floor they would stand behind their work. I had them install laminate floors in my home and the color was amazing. The workers that they sent out worked hard and were courteous and so it was a good experience.

The quality of the floorings I got from Empire Today was good. I had wood flooring for my dining and living rooms, and ceramic tile for the kitchen. The sales rep was great too and the installation team was very professional. It's just that the tiles in my kitchen are brown but the installation guy put white trimmings around the kitchen floor. I love the floor but I wish they had put brown trimmings like they did in the living room. I didn't know it was white until it was all done and I would have stopped it earlier. I talked to the guy who worked on it and told him I'll just paint it with brown. They said it's how it's supposed it be.

I am only sorry I have to give them any stars. What a waste of time. Of course their "50/50" deal only applied to certain products. All we wanted was to pick out flooring, get a price, and get on with our night. The salesman called his boss to get us a "good deal". It was more than we wanted to pay, but we were willing to go with it. But first we had to sit through his life story. He did the typical salesman tricks trying to win over the wife (me) and seal the deal. He took up a couple hours of our time talking about himself. What he failed to do was his job. He never checked the flooring under our carpet. When the installers came out that was the first thing they did. They told us they were certain our tile was asbestos and because of that we couldn't get the hardwood we had picked because it would have to be nailed in. You can't do that with asbestos. If he had done his job we would have picked out another flooring right then and there, but instead they have lost a sale.

Just out of curiosity we asked the installers to measure. The salesman hadn't even gotten the measurements right. They would not have had enough flooring to complete the job. I wasted two vacation days on these people. They have since contacted me three times. The second time I asked them not to contact me again or I would post this information online... so here I am. Moral of the story - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH EMPIRE.

Problem: I purchased service for vinyl flooring product and installation. I paid half of the amount (Oct.2016). The rest was financed (Fortiva). The contractors did the work in 2 days (told 1). Same day of completion I pointed out several gaps and overlaps in the planks (space in between and planks not flush side by side). They said it was normal, put glues on a few pieces. I called the customer service dept. the next day to file complaint. I even contacted the salesperson Lewis ** with concerns that day. This was repeated several times from Oct until now. During that time I have had 3 inspectors come out (from contractors that did the poor job). 1 took pictures and then reported no issue. Others took notes and tried to make repairs and could not. The service representatives set appointments without telling me when appointments were set (Mandy and Yvette). I had to take time off of work. Did not get follow up phone calls after inspectors came out.

I'd call and inquire after a week. I called the corporate number several times and kept getting transferred to the same people that were mishandling the information and concerns. I stated I needed a resolution before I continued to pay on the account given that the gaps were already collecting dust and moisture. I spoke to Julio ** 12/23/16 about replacement advised by inspector. 12/30/16 contractors called and asked if I was getting a totally different product than the original work.

They arrived with a child. They complained about doing the job. They'd take it up but I'd have no floor until Jan. 3 when they'd come back and finish 23 day job. They told me that they could do a floating floor and I should call and request that. Floating floors are substantially less than what I originally paid. They denied that it would be. They called mgmt and cancelled job and told me to reschedule. I called back & got a voicemail. I no longer trust the company and follow thru. An independent contractor confirmed poor work.
