Install and service was good. Just concerned about the carpet durability. Only been 3 months and it's starting to show wear in the master bedroom. Carpet is vacuumed twice a week like recommend and it's not coming back as before. I don't know if that's the way it looks.

When the first team came to install my kitchen floors they did a terrible job. They left gaps in the baseboards, used while caulking everywhere. Had uneven tiles and tiles did not match up to the baseboards. Another team came and did fix it, but the first team was terrible!
We are happy to hear that your experience had a positive turn around Thank you for sharing.

I used Empire a while back to do my whole basement and they did a great job. This time; way more expensive, they did a poor job of installation and care of my home. I have damage to my walls and frames due to the lack of care in installation. I have chips in the wall and boards, paint removed from carpet installation and utilization of tools. I have cracked framing around doors and entryways due to the removal of the old hardwood floors. I was told at installation that I would have to re-caulk around all of my doors because the depth of the new floors was less than the old.
I believe that should have been known by the salesperson and communicated prior to installation. Once install comes, you want the new floors in. It has become speed rather than care in the installation process it seems. Very dissatisfied considering cost. I have other rooms that I still need done; however, at this point I will never use Empire Today again due to this project.
We want every customer to be satisfied, and we're not happy that you've had a bad experience. We've located your account information, and we'll be contacting you shortly to discuss your concerns.

When we purchased the ceramic tile flooring the salesperson assured us the job would take 3 days and everything necessary was included in the purchase price of almost $9000. The actual time taken by the installers was 6 days and they were there until after 6:00 pm most days. The last day they were there until almost 9:30 pm. They did not provide transitions for the doorways, my husband had to make an additional purchase for those. When we tried to contact the salesperson, she would not return our phone calls until two weeks after the installation.
Now, a little over the year, the flooring is "lipping" coming at the corners of the tile. When we contacted Empire they sent someone out to see what the solution could be. The subcontractor came out and said the entire flooring was improperly installed and should be ripped out and replaced. And, we had to pay Empire $100 for his time to come out.
Empire called a few days later and said they would replace the flooring but we would have to pay for the labor because the flooring was no longer under warranty, by about 3 months. When asked how much the labor would be, were told they would call back the next day with the quote. We said "call us back" and also wanted to hear from a manager. Haven't heard a thing. Very disappointed in Empire and will tell everyone we know about their "service".
We regret to hear that you have been inconvenienced by this matter. We will be in contact with you soon to learn more.

I purchased laminate flooring from Empire in Feb. of 2017. They came and installed my laminate and did a very nice job, but informed me that they could not install it in one room due to the moisture content in the plywood and recommended I get indoor outdoor for that area. The salesman came back and showed me 4 samples of carpet and none of the colors worked, so he said they would refund my money $1,675.00 and filled out a change of order form, that was Feb. 27, 2017. Today is March 30 and I have called many times and they tell me it is being processed. I still have not received credit on my credit card, I would never get Empire again.

First of all I only chose Empire because of the commercial I saw on TV. Buy one room, get one room free. To my surprise, I was informed that MN was not included in the sale. I was told that there is some law in MN that doesn't allow us in MN to get these deals. I say no way. I am still seeing commercials. Now it's half off but not for me as I am a Minnesota resident. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

We are so disappointed with Empire today. We had carpet and vinyl flooring installed last week. When the vinyl flooring was installed, the installation went until 10 pm. When the installers finally finished it was discovered that they did not install the floors into a designated area as it was not on their forms. We were told to reach out to our Sales rep. Which we did the following day, as I mentioned we did not reach out to the sales rep when the job was finished because the installers did not leave our home until 10 pm.
Side note - (I have 2 small children 3 and under who were unable to be put to bed because we did not have access to their rooms during installation). Also, the installers left such a mess because the job ran so long. When we reached out to the sales rep he informed us that he put in the order for carpet in that area even though that is NOT what we discussed when he measured and drew up contracts. Human error? Yes, I understand that people make mistakes but instead of rectifying the situation for his mistake he tells us that it will be an additional $900 and reprimanded us for not contacting him at 10:00 pm the night of install.
We have contacted Empire Today customer service and have an open ticket right now awaiting a return call from a supervisor. We have called 3 times already. Have yet to receive a return call from a supervisor. I will absolutely never recommended Empire Today to anyone and will never use Empire again. This is a completely unacceptable way to run a business and the customer service is awful. I now have a section of flooring completely ripped up and not completed as it should have been last Monday 03.20.17.

After spending a couple of hours with your sales representative at my home, he made measurements of all rooms requiring carpeting. In his measurements he obviously forgot to include the steps. I have a two-story home. On March 24th, 2017 the installers arrived at my home approximately 11:00 AM, commenced removing the old carpet. After completion of the removal the installation of the new carpet began. Everything went well as planned with the installation of all the rooms. The installers then informed me they had some bad news, "We do not have enough carpet for the steps and would have to order additional carpet, and come back another day."
I was inconvenienced for a whole day sitting with the installers to find out they were unable to complete my install. I lost a whole day of work so I could be there. I then called the toll-free number for Empire Today to lodge a complaint. The representative that I spoke with try to transfer me over to the Centralize Specialist Team. They were already closed by then, she then informed me she put in a discount request for my inconvenience. I received a call from Joel (a representative from the Centralize Specialist Team) on the following Monday stating due to what I paid for the carpet and installation, that he could not offer me any further discounts for my inconvenience. I feel this is bad way to treat customers, I wish there was a separate rating system for the installers. They did a A+++ job on the install.
We regret to hear about the shortage during your installation. We will be in contact with you shortly to address your concerns.

After telling us Empire uses their own workers (a lie) and all we had to do was remove knick-knacks they started on the job about 11am. I had moved everything from the 5 rooms to be done including small tables etc. By six 3 of the 5 rooms were done. I was also told a vacuum would be used, but I saw a broom used all day by both causing the air to fill with white chalk-like dust. Later that day I noticed my entire bookcase that takes one whole wall was filled with white dust, along with my shudders, fans, blinds & printer. What? I wasn’t told to cover this stuff. The first day the employee did one room, the subcontractor (sub) did two larger rooms?
Next morning, the sub was ready to work by 9am, the employee about an hour late. After employee walked around awhile, he left to go get plastic bags to remove the tile in the kitchen. Almost two hours later I said, "Before you break up tile, (kitchen was only room with tile) please hang something over my kitchen cabinets/counter & food," because I wasn’t told to pack that up. I had to help with tape up. The subcontractor worked circles around the employee & then was picking up trash and “sweeping” up. The house was full of white chalk substance that I was breathing in. It’s 10 days later, I still can’t taste anything. The employee took all day to do the small kitchen and at 9pm said, "do you want us to clean up?" What? Hell no, get out and I’ll sign whatever. I’m hungry and I really didn’t want them back.
I was told, "you don’t need to fill out the completion form" which I read later asked questions about the job. Is that how they do it… stay really late, then say "do you want help cleaning up". Everyone would say no. Anyway, next morning I couldn’t get water out of my refrigerator so we pulled in out to find it was pushed back kinking the water line. Then we noticed tape around the line. This new refrigerator had no tape on any lines before this install. We also noticed a place in the kitchen that didn’t have the ½ round molding, and there were two places where it looked like the laminate was jammed in so hard it caused the seam to rise a bit, so we called to have someone fix it. I explained how unhappy we were with the installer and what we were told about the process beforehand. I still feel like I have rocks in my eyes from dust.
The following week someone would be out to fix both problems and we could tell the person about our experience at that time. UPDATE: After Empire cancelled our first appointment for repair, customer service sent the SAME installer?! He came in the kitchen and the first thing he said about the buckle in the floor was water damage. Since we called the morning after the install and hadn’t been in the kitchen, I knew that was wrong. He didn’t say anything about forgetting to finish the ¼ round molding. Rather than argue, we just let him fix the problem. We called customer service again to tell them they don’t seem to be concerned about customer service when they obviously didn’t listen to me and sent the same guy out that caused the problem. In the end, we like the floors, but don’t use Empire, run.
We regret to hear that your experience did not get off to a great start, but understand that we have since completed your repair. If you continue to have questions or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com.

We had linoleums put down by Empire in our Florida apartment's kitchen and the bathroom. I'd seen Empire in the phonebook and I investigated a little bit on the different prices. Empire's cost and quality are very, very nice and I like it a lot better than other ones. It's a lot better quality but the cost was higher than I really wanted it to be. It was worth the value after I heard what they were gonna do. They took the old flooring up and I liked that idea.
The installer was a very nice guy and he did a very beautiful job in the home. We were very happy with him and we could tell that he knew what he was doing. After tearing the old one up, he had to lay the other one down. We had a lot of little turns and all that, then he had to cut and put down a lot of moulding. It took him about 5 hours. I really like the flooring and it looks nice. They're a better a quality and it matches up real well. We enjoy it and it's a lot easier to keep clean. It also doesn't show the dirt like the other one did. I like the shine to it and it's a very durable setup for us.

When I dealt with Empire Today from years ago, they did a good job. So I called them back a month ago and they installed a carpet in the bedroom and living room of my apartment. I like the way the carpet looks and it has met all my expectations.

They are advertising 50% off flooring materials -- yet when they quote they quote the entire job and do not quote the materials!!! No way to know if they are quoting 50% off. Their quote was the highest of the 3 quotes that I got. This appears to be a very deceptive company. I was able to find high quality wood flooring from a local retail company that would cost me $2000 and be better quality than what Empire quoted which means that $3000+ was for 1-2 days of labor! It doesn't take long to install 400 sq feet of flooring. One company said they could do it in one day. So that would work out to about $200/hr assuming they had 2 guys doing the install or about $400/hr if one guy was going to do it.

We were told we had to wait about a week for installation. We scheduled, and the morning that they were supposed to arrive, they canceled due to installers being ill. This is fair enough but disappointing since we had torn everything down and it serves as our home office and guest room and we had guests coming the next day. Also my husband took the day off of work. They offered us a discount for our inconvenience and rescheduled for about two weeks later.
They were here today to install. Neither installer spoke English which makes the walk-through difficult. The installation was shoddy. The carpet is short, and they didn't replace our padding on part of it which would void our warranty. They had holes and exposed tacking. I tried to point things out during the walk-through and they tried to fix it. I ended up signing off on the form and writing that I still had questions and concerns. It's pretty awkward filling that paperwork out right in front of your installer. I called and reported this to the company, so hopefully they'll make it right. My boyfriend & I had a salesman from Empire to come out for a free estimate for laminate flooring. He took all our information, we picked out flooring and was approved for financing. The salesman said he didn't see any level problems. We got the appointment scheduled for our new flooring. He proceeded to tell us we needed to remove the old vinyl from the kitchen which we did last night. Other than that we were set & excited until the day of installation! My boyfriend took the day off work to move furniture around as they worked.
When the installers came, we were told the floors were NOT level and we needed the kitchen floor checked for asbestos. Mind you, we have no kitchen floor now!! It was then OUR problem! Why did the salesman tell us our floor was level if it isn't?? Why didn't he tell us we should make sure there is no asbestos (which there isn't per a local flooring business we are now using)? Now we are in a bind. We've wasted our time, removed the old kitchen flooring & used time off work!

So, I didn't choose that one and went for the dreamcatcher canvass. The installers came in and moved the furniture, they took the old carpet out, put the new one in and threw the old one away. They did a great job and I’m extremely happy. I love my carpet. It looks really pretty and I like the way it feels and I like the color a lot. I had a sales rep come to my home Saturday 3/18, and the quote he gave us for a commercial carpet installation for our living room, which is about 20 x12, was almost $800. I told him we had to speak to our landlord because we wanted to find out if they would cover some of the cost. The only reason we were looking for carpets in the first place was noise complaint the neighborhood from downstairs was making. We have a baby learning to walk so the walker was making "too much noise" apparently. Anyhow the rep said fine, put $20 refundable deposit and if any changes occur just call by Wednesday to cancel. We called Monday afternoon to cancel, after speaking to landlord about the cost, and the customer service rep said she can put a note to cancel, the order hasn't come in yet but it's fine, and we'll see a refund in 10 days.
On Wednesday my husband said he got a call about installing confirmation? So something went wrong. Called Thursday morning and spoke to a manager named Bobby and he gave a lot of insulting back handed comments about people being cheap, and why we put the order in the first place. I was appalled and told him that's not his concern and why he was speaking to me like this, then he reduced the price to around $629 and I told him we don't need a carpet anymore. Completely unacceptable behavior and the worst customer service I ever experienced. He said a refund will take place in about 15 days and the order was canceled. I will never consider buying from this company ever again. I will write another review about report them to BBB if I don't get my deposit back.

We had previously gotten carpeting and ceramic in our foyer area through Empire Today. And when we had a water problem, our homeowners covered our new kitchen floor, and we got Empire to also install ceramic tile through our kitchen so that it would match our foyer. When they came to do our kitchen, they pulled up a few tiles so that they could get the pattern going again. Everything looked great but we were a little upset. It took me a few days to realize what looked different. And then I just kept walking back and forth thinking to myself something looked different than the foyer. Then it finally dawned on me that the grout color does not match with what we have in our foyer and it all runs together.
When we finally figured it out, my husband called and he played phone tag for a really long time with somebody. They said that the grout color in the foyer was discontinued. So, they did the best possible match that they could in the kitchen, but they were completely different. We were trying to figure out how we could switch one or the other but now, the grout color in the kitchen is also discontinued. They said that there was nothing that they could do at this point. So now we have two different grout colors for tile that is running the whole length of our house. I just got a reimbursement check for $200 for the inconvenience but we still have two different grout colors. It's a little frustrating, but all the quality has been good so we're still happy.

The first time that Empire came, they did a laminate floor for me. They were supposed to come here first thing in the morning, but they showed up at 11:00 o’clock. The installer sat in the truck until 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon. When another carload came, there were about four of them. One was a girl and she was the driver of the vehicle. By the time they unloaded the truck, they hardly did anything that day.
This time, they were supposed to put down a tile floor on my porch. They gave me a price. Then the installer comes in and says he can't do the job and that he has to float the floor to level it off. I told him to leave and I went to another company. Their installers were here in two days, they didn’t have to float anything and it was a beautiful job. When I was having my floor put down by Empire in my dining room, a neighbor downstairs came upstairs and asked me for their number. So I gave him the salesman’s number, but after this incident with the tile I went over there and told my neighbor not to call them. I would never recommend anybody to them.

We decided to use Empire Direct after looking at a number of flooring companies. We replaced flooring throughout our entire home. From the beginning we had issues. Carpet installers decided to work until after 9:00 at night even though we asked them to finish later because "coming back was a huge inconvenience since they lived an hour away just for 2 hours of work." We had luxury vinyl installed in our basement and they didn't initially put a base down or level the floor, they had to come back, take up the floor and do the job correctly. Finally, we attempted to have hardwood installed and the installers and the warehouse could not coordinate enough to make sure the installers were at our home early enough to meet with my wife or myself. We took time off work only to get a call stating that the installers were going to a different job before ours.
When we attempted to reschedule for the NEXT DAY, we were told the window for arrival was between 8 am and 6 pm. We couldn't even get an estimated time frame even though we had a ton of problems early in the job. I let the salesman know what was going on and that we canceled the order and his reply was, "Sorry it don't work out." Will never use that company and if anyone does I recommend taking a week off work and expect the installers to be there for dinner, you may need a few more place settings.
We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention and apologize for your experience. We will be in contact with you soon to learn more.

I ordered carpet from Empire Today approximately 2 weeks prior to its installation. My wife and I spent a week removing everything but the furniture and moving it downstairs. On the day of installation I was notified that they did not have enough carpet to do my upstairs. The salesman came out and we were told that it would be a month or longer before we could get the carpet we selected. We decided on a similar carpet and it was installed shortly after, we also were given a $250 discount. Poor communication on Empire Today's part. We just had our walls painted while the rooms were relatively bare and the installers were very careful, but some damage occurred - plaster knocked off and scrapes on the paint. Unfortunately, I did not notice the damage until after I signed the release.

Our installation was fast, but not high quality. The installers left Sharpie marks on boards in the middle of the floor, and some boards were not installed tight. Also, we have one area that is scraped from the tool they used to make the transition. A repair man came out, but only gave us filler. We also had water damage in the kitchen that was our fault from the fridge. We paid extra for that repair, but the repairman forgot to replace one board and I am still waiting even though I already paid him. The quality of the floor is not what I expected, hard to clean and seems like it isn't solid enough. I paid a lot for this floor and didn't get my money's worth.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We will investigate your concerns further and will be in contact with you soon.

Empire's pricing was quite similar with the other brands, but since we got a little bit better deal with them, we had Empire install carpet, laminate and tile in a rental property and it was neat. The tile and the laminate look nice and for what we paid for the carpet, it was all right. But it would have been better if we had gone with a higher-grade padding. Other than that, our experience with Empire has been fine so far.

We recently bought carpeting for our home and it was a wonderful experience, as usual. This is the third time I used Empire, so I wouldn’t even consider anybody else. The carpet we bought was stain and pet resistant with a special pad, and it's nice and plush. Their quality, the service, and their courtesy are what kept me coming back to them. We’ve dealt with their rep, Mark, several times and he has been excellent. In fact, I also referred him to my daughter. I’m very satisfied with my overall experience with Empire Today.

In September of 2016, my fiancee and I decided that we needed new floors in five rooms of our house, and on two steps and a landing. After visiting a number of different stores to comparison-shop, we decided to go with Empire Today, located in Commack, NY, based on their competitive prices, and the great customer service provided by our salesperson, Kellie. Unlike the experiences described by many of the reviews that you will find online, our installation went off without a hitch in early October. We were so thrilled, we actually wrote a letter to Empire commending Kellie and the installation crew. The engineered hardwood floors were in, on time, and they looked great for two weeks.
From the outset, we had concerns about replacing the flooring in our home. One of the surfaces seemed to not be level, and a couple of the floors transitioned to tile surfaces where there was a height difference of approximately two inches. Initially, we were only going to have a couple of floors done as a test. As a result of our concerns, we had technicians from Empire out to our house a total of five times to determine whether or not they would be able to install engineered hardwood. Every single time they reassured us that there would be no problems with the installation. The non-level floor could easily be leveled. The uneven surfaces would be solved by transition pieces that would be built up so that there would not be a height difference.
After Empire finished the first couple of rooms, we were initially so impressed that we had them do a number of additional rooms. It was shortly after the second installation that everything started to become unglued, literally. It turns out, those magic transition pieces were only glued down and completely separated from the floor itself.
Let me take a minute to explain the documentation that we received from Empire at the time of sale. They gave us their standard contract. Who reads these things? We did not at the time. If we had, we would have noticed that in the fine print there is a section that indicates that all disputes regarding the contract can only be resolved via binding arbitration.
For those of you who are not familiar with it, binding arbitration prevents you from suing a company in court, and is largely employed by companies who are concerned about having to stand behind their products. The results of binding arbitration are most frequently biased toward the company and not the consumer, largely due to the fact that companies will often give arbitrators repeat business (consumers usually only go through the process one time, if that). On top of all of that, the proceedings, including the results, are completely confidential, and arbitrations do not have to follow any set rules, including rules regarding presentation of evidence.
We also received Empire's Retail Hard Surface Flooring Checklist, which, among other things, recommends that we maintain a relative humidity of 30-50% in the home. What we did not receive from Empire was warranty documentation for the product itself. Empire did not even tell us what company manufactured the product. We had a description in the invoice that read "Trinity Bay Redwood," but there was no information as to which company actual made it. We assumed that the Empire warranty covered the product as well.
After two weeks, the condition of the floor in every room of the house started to deteriorate at a rapid pace. In addition to the unglued transition pieces, we noticed discoloration, boards that started to pop out of place, and cracks on boards in every room of the house where the floor was installed. We have since learned more about wood flooring than we ever wanted to know, including that those cracks are actually called face-checks. In our office (one of the five rooms where work was done), despite the floor being glued down, in many areas it seems to now float. The resulting effect is like having a trampoline on the floor. When you walk over certain sections, you bounce along.
We were initially concerned whether this room would be suitable for engineered hardwood, due to the fact that it had a concrete floor that was not level. Multiple representatives from Empire visited us and told us that we had nothing to worry about. The installation on the stairs left surfaces that were raised more than an inch, which has left us with a fairly severe tripping hazard.
We figured, "No problem... We will call Empire and certainly they will fix the issues." We contacted the store, and then were sent to a regional office. It took weeks to get someone out to look at the problem. The first representative who came out took some measurements with a variety of tools and told us that he thought that the wood was potentially defective and would need to be replaced. He also indicated that we needed to go through the Empire process to have the replacement approved, that the process includes several steps, and that it would take a long time.
After not hearing from Empire for several more weeks, an independent inspector was sent to our house to do more testing and inspection of the floors and environment in which they were installed. A couple of weeks later, Empire sent us the inspection report, which indicated a number of problems with the installation and a couple of defects with the product itself. In addition, the inspector indicated that the relative humidity in the house was 30.8%, and that the manufacturer's warranty, L.W. Mountain, indicates that the relative humidity must remain normal, which they define as between 35 and 55%.
Wait a second, who is L.W. Mountain? Where did they come from? I looked them up online, and if you read the warranty section of their website, they do indeed recommend that relative humidity should be between 35 and 55%. Had we known that this was the product that we had purchased, and had we known that the relative humidity in my home was only 30%, we would have had significant concerns at the outset that this product would have been incompatible with our home.
Now, show of hands, how many people out there are dutifully monitoring the relative humidity in their homes on a regular basis? I am not even sure how you would even do it, because the inspector needed something called a hygrometer, which evidently costs about $1,000. Maybe we are odd, but we do not keep a spare hygrometer handy. The funny thing though is that the checklist that Empire provided recommended that we should keep our home between 30 and 50% relative humidity, contrary to what the L.W. Mountain website indicated.
Throughout his report, the inspector referenced the National Wood Flooring Association and their guidelines. I took some time to read through them myself, and what I found was that, prior to installing anything, the installer is supposed to take a relative humidity reading and do a number of tests to make sure that the environment is suitable for the product that is being installed. Empire did none of that. They ripped up the old floor, brought in the boxes, and slapped down the new one, no questions asked, no measurements taken.
It is now March, and we finally have been contacted by Empire's NY customer service supervisor, Joe **. He informed us that Empire submitted the inspection report to L.W. Mountain, and they denied warranty coverage due to the fact that the relative humidity was not maintained properly. Mr. ** ignored the parts of the inspection report that indicated that the installation was done incorrectly, and that Empire's own documentation contradicts the L.W. Mountain warranty.
Perhaps the most ridiculous part of this story is that Mr. ** indicated that, as a courtesy, Empire would be happy to tear up the floors and replace them with exactly the same material, if we pay the labor, which would cost more than $2,500. We asked him if that was wise, given that the relative humidity of our house appears to be outside the range that is acceptable for the L.W. Mountain flooring. He said that he was pretty sure that the cracking would happen again, but he could not do anything about that.
I think that last point bears repeating, because it is so insane: Empire sold us a product that was inappropriate for our house, installed it poorly, without taking the industry recommended measurements, and is now willing to make the same mistakes again, if only we will pay them $2,500+. We are likely to go to arbitration to try to settle this dispute. Unfortunately, the terms of Empire's contract prevent us from sharing the results with you, so we can't add a happy ending to this tale (or a sad one, for that matter).
The bottom line here is this: Empire sells poor quality products, and installs those products carelessly and without following industry standards. When things go wrong, Empire points fingers everywhere but at themselves. The mandatory binding arbitration clause in their contract shows you that they expect a lot of things to go wrong. If you want to experience unparalleled levels of frustration and anger, if you want to watch your beautiful floor crack and buckle before your eyes, and if you want to pay lots of money for the entire experience, then I highly recommend Empire Today. Otherwise, shop elsewhere. Empire Today, Pain and Suffering Tomorrow. Oh, another fun fact is that our salesperson, Kellie, quit the company shortly after our sale. Evidently Empire treats employees just about as well as they treat the customers.
Your satisfaction is important to us and we sincerely regret to hear about your experience. We understand that we are currently working with you and will continue to follow up until a resolution is reached.
Thank you.

It was our second time with Empire Today. We had the linoleum floor in one of our rooms. A couple of months prior to that, we had our entire house carpeted and had tiles put in our kitchen. We called other places but couldn't have anybody come out except for Empire. So, we went with them because of the whole system, how they can come out and can get it done quick, they'll also move the furniture and the customer service part of it all. It was a lot more expensive than I thought it was going to be but we got a very good price because we didn't know the pricing of a lot of the others. The flooring also met my expectations.
The first time we had it all put in, everything went great. It went like clockwork. The second time when we had our little office done, it was setup to use our Empire card like we had done on the first one. The only issue we had was they couldn't get the paperwork straight. There were issues from beginning to end. I didn't know where that fell apart but the first time they came out to install it, they had to leave and to reschedule. They also showed that they were supposed to collect money from us and not on our credit card and they couldn't get it worked out. Our salesperson supposedly got it all worked out with everybody but then the next people came and we had the same issue. We were fortunately able to rectify it before they had to leave and I know they're just outside contractors. Something just fell through the cracks. Everything else went good.

This has been the worst experience with a company ever!!! I can't even list all the problems we have had with this company because I would have a book & I don't have time to waste doing that. I've already wasted enough of my time dealing with this situation so I'll just list the main problems we have dealt with and are still dealing with. It started on March 7th 2017. 2 guys show up at 11:00 am to install our vinyl. I believe that is way too late for what needed to be done. One of them does not speak any English & barely knows what he is doing then they tell us they don't have enough to do the job. So I'm not sure why they even came out to take measurements if they still didn't order enough. So anyway I was not here all day my husband was because I wanted to be surprised when I got home but finally at 7:00 that night I did come home because I had stuff to do. Kids had school in the morning and boy was I surprised.
It was getting too late so about 8:00pm they pack up & leave to come back on Thursday. So we start looking around & what they have done looks horrible. Bubbles all through the vinyl found about a 4 inch piece of wood down in our plumbing for the toilet. Thankfully my husband saw it or who knows what kind of damage that could have caused. There was all kinds of wood pieces and debris they just let fall down in our air duct vents showing no care at all for the work they were doing. So husband takes off work Thursday so he can be here so we're waiting waiting waiting.
Finally about 2:00pm I call the 800# to be told "Oh your materials didn't come in so they won't be coming today." "Are you Kidding me? Perhaps someone could have called and let us know this. I do have other things I could be doing well while I have you on the phone. I do not want the same installers. What they have done is terrible." He says, "Ok. I'll try to get someone out there tomorrow. I will call you back." Never get a call back until Friday morning saying the installers will be here in an hour or two. So I say "No. They were supposed to be here yesterday. Never showed, never called and someone was supposed to call me back yesterday. Never did. Well we are not available today," so now I'm looking at Monday. Keep in mind I've lost use of 1 of my bathrooms & my stove & refrigerator are in my living room. My house is in total disarray till at least Monday.
Now but oh wait they call Monday & say still do not have all the materials. "Oh my gosh. Well we're not available Tuesday or Wednesday." So here we go Thursday. So 1 guy shows up at almost 11:00am and I'm just thinking there is no way he's gonna get done today. I was right. So now Friday 2 guys 10:00am. It's looking a little better but they have to tear up and redo everything the first guys did last Tuesday. So of course they do not get done. So now my husband has to take another day off work Saturday to be here. So hopefully they will get done. We will find out tomorrow. I do have to say the guy who has come the past 2 days is doing a good job and actually knows what he's doing!
The ironic thing about all of this was my husband could've done this his self but we opted to go with what we thought was a good company because we wanted to just get it done professionally and be done with it in a day or two tops and that is so far from what our experience has been. I mean that's why we paid big money for it to avoid frustration, anger, & major inconvenience to name a few. But on this day 10 of having vinyl installed if it does get done tomorrow it will be day 11. We shall see how that goes. I am definitely at my wit's end!!! Also I do not even like my flooring. The joy I had about getting it is gone and maybe it's because of all the issues. I am just so disappointed I can't even be excited and I have not listed every problem either. It's been a complete nightmare!!!

A few days later, I called and spoke with a very nice customer service rep and we rescheduled the appointment for this past Saturday March 11th. The sales rep was to arrive between 9 and 11am. Mind you, we scheduled our entire Saturday around this appointment, promising our 2 young toddlers that we would take them somewhere super fun if they were able to behave while the rep was there discussing our new shiny floors. Much to our dismay, by 11:30am, no one had shown up. I called the 800 number that I received in my confirmation email and spoke with another very nice customer service rep.
After being placed on hold for a while, the rep informed me that there was only a "skeleton crew" available on the weekend and she was not able contact upper management to resolve the issue. She said that a sales rep was never assigned to my call. I explained to the rep how unprofessional this was and she agreed. She told me that upper management would be calling me on Monday March 13th to quickly resolve the issue. I was also informed that I would receive a discount on my total purchase due to the inconvenience. I was happy with that. I had read so many positive reviews that I did not want this miscommunication to force me to choose another company to do my floors.
Unfortunately, Monday came and went and I have not received a call. It is now Wednesday March 15th and still no one has reached out to me. This is sooo unprofessional... Especially for someone who is a new customer. I guess a "big box" company such as theirs does not care about the mistakes they make... All that seems to be important is their own bottom line. How unfortunate!

Don't fall for the sales pitch - not worth it in the long run. I purchased carpet and padding from Empire 7/29/13. Our carpet has some pretty big wear sections and parts of the fibers are coming up all over. I first contacted Empire 12/29/16 but didn't get a response. I finally spoke with someone today from the warranty department. She told me that because I used a home carpet cleaner that I voided any manufacturer warranty that I had. She said the only way I would have been able to be covered under warranty was if I had had the carpet professionally steam cleaned every year.
She then transferred me to a supervisor who said the same thing. When I pointed out to her that our sales person never once brought that part up when she was selling us on buying the upgraded carpet and padding. The supervisor told me she couldn't speculate on what was said over 3 years ago and proceeded to tell me she had a similar situation with Home Depot. So, we paid $5000 for carpet that didn't even last 4 years. I will never again do business with Empire and I strongly suggest others stay away.

I had a representative come out and measure 3 rooms and my stairs to get LVP installed. She wrote up a quote for 2 rooms, the den and dining room, for $8,000. Then proceeded to give me a "50% discount". Bottom line she quoted was $3500 for the 2 rooms. I ended up declining the offer as I found that this is overpriced as compared to other companies for the same service and product. I received an email from another representative several days later offering me installation for the two rooms for $2533. I emailed her back and stated that I was interested and wanted to add another room, the living room (which had already been measured when the rep came out the first time). She responded with a price for the additional room, which didn't make sense to me since it was a small room. So I questioned the reason, and basically couldn't get a straight reason.
What I got, however, was the runaround like I have never seen before. The sales reps I tried to call avoided the calls and didn't return them. At one point, I used a different phone to call and was told that the sales rep was on the other line. I then used my phone to call and was told that she was out of the office. She was there, but did not want to talk to me, the customer. Again, all I wanted was to see why the 3rd room was priced so much higher than the other two rooms. Avoiding customers, lack of respect when emailing and talking to customers is no way to gain business. This has been the most unpleasant experiences with ANY company I have ever had.
To add insult to injury, even her manger, was rude in his way to speaking to me. The reason he provided was that the measurements were incorrect. I stated that I was willing to have a rep come out and measure again, but he didn't seem interested in doing that. I attribute that to the fact that the measurements were correct. The 2nd rep just emailed a quote that they discovered was too low, and that was the only way to fix the mistake. If the company really cares about customer service, they would make an honest effort to fix THEIR mistakes.

We heard good things about Empire and we saw their commercial of "Buy one room, get one room free", so that worked out well for us. We had carpeting installed in our living room and a bedroom and I’m very happy with it. I like the thickness of the carpet and the padding that we got was really good. And the guys that installed did it really fast so it was cool. They could’ve come the next day but we asked them to come two days after that. They were fine with that and then they showed up at 8AM and were done by noon, so it was nice.

We previously used Empire for a large project and was satisfied, which made us call again for this additional project. I wasn't prepared for the price I was given for this project. I really thought it would be less. Though I am very happy with the end product and I can't say enough good things about the team that installed our flooring.

Empire Today installed laminated floor in my living and dining areas, and the hallway. Initially, I looked around at several different places and since Empire had a sale on, I decided to go with them. I like the pattern of the floor - it's older and narrow. It looks like hardwood that I had forty years ago in my first home and it duplicates the pattern that Bruce, a very good hardware company, has. The best part is that they have installers that come on time, that have good manners and do a good job. It’s a lot of hard work but the young men were exceptional. I had some pretty heavy furniture and they didn’t complain at all, too. They put it back after it was done and they swept the floor as well. They could not have done anything better.

I'm pleased with the carpeting installed by Empire Today in our home's living room, dining room, the hallways, two bedrooms, and steps. I saw their commercial where they were having 50% off everything. My oldest son has also gotten carpeting from them. The cost and quality are wonderful. We have a cat and he has a tendency to throw up every once in a while. The poor thing did several times and the stain comes right off. The carpet is stain resistant and has met all my expectations. It's been great and I'd recommend Empire to anybody and it's been a good experience.

They have all those samples to choose from and they help you out in making your decision. Empire Today has been right on top of things and got their work done in an expedient manner.

Empire Today installed carpeting for us. I was ready to buy from Home Depot until we had the Empire guy come up and Empire's pricing was better. The quality also seems to be good and there are no issues with Empire's flooring. They put tape on some corners of walls so that they wouldn't scrape the paint off the walls when they carried the rolls of the carpeting, but they didn't take the tape off. I didn't notice that while the installers were there and it was after they left that we took the tape off but the paint came off with it.

I had flooring in the kitchen and carpet installed by Empire. The flooring in the kitchen was done all right, but there were some places where they didn't match it up to the wall. Furthermore, they cut a couple of pieces too short and just put these anyway. But that's in one corner. I'm not real happy with it but I'm not real dissatisfied with it either. Furthermore, I thought the guys cleaned up well when they did the kitchen, but then when I got in there after a couple of days, it seemed like they swept everything down into the basement.
The guys that installed the carpet did four rooms and a hallway in three hours less time than the guys that did the kitchen, who spent all day doing the kitchen, and my kitchen is only 8 x 10. In addition, the carpet layers did not sweep. I thought they would have a vacuum cleaner and vacuum the carpet after they were done, but they didn't do that. I had to sweep all the debris from the carpet. Nonetheless, they moved all the furniture and got the carpet laid in about five hours, and it looks like it's a good job and everything's tucked in properly.

I chose Empire Today because of many factors. One is its reputation. They’ve been in business for many years already. Second, the salesperson was excellent. The cost, service, variety, and quality of the product were also considered for buying the carpet from them. They have a lower cost, especially with the disposal of the carpet and installation. They were perfect. The carpet was for our two-story home and was installed in the living room, stairs, and dining room.
It took one whole day for installers to get it done and it was not their fault. The two of them were working hard and they did a great job. My condominium is big so maybe after the measurements and they had known that the place is big, Empire Today could have added a third person so the job didn't take all day to do. Other than that, I’d recommend Empire Today.

We’ve used Empire Today in the past. Recently, we bought their LVT, a luxury laminate, and they installed it at the front entryway of our house. We liked the product and the installer had been very nice. On the other hand, he put down a very large metal piece on the corners which we're not thrilled about. It looks like it’s for a commercial building. My husband told him that it wasn't ideal and he said that it's all that he had. We figured that there was nothing he could do about it.
In addition, our front entryway has a step-down, and we thought that the step-down was going to be covered with tile, and he said that it wasn’t ideal which was very strange. He was also very rushed because the job took longer than he was expecting. He made it very clear that he had to go pick up his son from daycare. He ended up leaving us materials so that my husband could finish it himself. We’ve had only good experiences with Empire Today in the past, but this wasn't our best experience.

The contractors from Empire Today did a perfect job. I got the parquet and they also did the linoleum in the kitchen, put a beautiful kitchen and rug in. They had reserved three days for the kitchen, the living room and the dining room but they did it in two days. I get complimented on the floors and I’d been more than happy. All in all, I’m satisfied with their workers and their laminate but I’m dissatisfied with them responding to me to settle the payment.
Empire Today gave me a quote of how much the install is going to be and I've got it all written down. They said they were going to finance it through Wells Fargo. But I had been told I would be financing through Empire ‘cause I wouldn’t work with Wells Fargo. The rep also promised that I wouldn’t have to pay more than $125. I gave her a $200 check for deposit and another $200 check for Empire which I thought was for coupons. I was thoroughly confused and I still am.
I haven’t gotten back anything on how I can pay Empire so I took it to my attorney but he's very busy on cases. I called the rep five times at least and each time she was over at Anderson Island, or down in some other place and she couldn’t and didn’t return calls. And then within a week or two after that, they start advertising on television that anybody that wanted to have the floors, it would be half-priced. So, I called them again and talked to a lady and I recorded her. I’m happy to pay for it, but the woman told me right on the phone that that half-sale deal that they’re advertising was the inferior laminate floors and that they weren’t as good as the ones that I got. So, she couldn’t give me the half off although they weren’t saying that on television.
And two years ago, I was working with Empire, but I couldn’t finish up the deal. And then the fellow that came forgot his two books of rug samples. I called and told them to come and get the books but they never did. So when the lady came, I told her about these books and asked her if she'd take them back to Empire and she did. Overall, they’re a good company if they didn’t get their stuff mixed up.

So far, the quality is good though it does scratch when I'm not careful. I was gonna buy the product myself from Home Depot and have someone put the floors down but Empire Today had a deal of 50% off. However, it wasn't as reasonable as I thought it would be. I've gotten some calls before for about the same amount to do what I got done and it was gonna be right around that amount. I figured it would be much cheaper than what it was but it started out way higher than what I paid and it gradually went down by negotiating. One room was supposed to be free, but for the price I paid what I got was getting the whole thing done for that price anyway. Still, it was a professional experience with Empire Today.

So Saturday we moved all the equipment out of those rooms to find out later that day the product didn't come in. Service rep was nice and offered a 100.00 off. We rescheduled for the following Saturday. Received another call later that day from Empire saying that I couldn't receive the 100 off. I said, "What? Your company offered and now you are saying I do not receive 100? This is confusing..." He then said I would get the 100 and said sorry for bugging me.
3/11/17 Moving all equipment again from my health challenged daughter rooms. Installers come and look over rooms. After pulling the register vents they find out I need more materials (under-lament), at a cost of over 700.00 more to the quoted price. Talk about a bait and switch. Told the installers to leave. Called Empire to see about my down payment and a refund. Was told that the quote has verbiage about if an installer needed more materials that a cost would be added. Said they needed to train the salespeople more. Upping a price after said quote is not a good thing. I understand if it was rotted sub-floor but this wasn't the case. My daughter in law and son hired Empire to install $3200 worth of carpet in the house they had just moved out of. The installers showed up and everything seemed to be going fine until I was told I was needed in the house to talk to them (I was at the house that day to let the installers in since my son and daughter in law could not be there). The installers told me we had a big problem in that they didn't bring the tools to remove the cove molding from 9 steps and that they didn't know what to do about it. I told them the job had to be done that day (there was a showing to sell the house the next day) and to call a supervisor and get it fixed. They told me that would not be possible. They called their supervisor Michelle who was rude and condescending.
When I realized they were unwilling to get this fixed that day I asked for one of their X-Acto knives so I could cut a V shape piece of old carpet out from under the molding to see if that might be a solution. They freaked out acting like I was going to hurt someone with the knife (I admit I was impatient and nervous the job would not get done that day). They threatened to walk off the job and one installer did as I "made him nervous!" Seriously we just paid Empire $3200 for this carpet job. They ended up finishing the job but did not replace the molding. We had to nail it back in and repaint. I was at the house until 8 PM that night trying to finish when I was told they would be done by 2 or 3 PM. The installers left around 6:30 PM.
Also the "head" installer chastised me a second time for explaining to my kids' realtor who showed up to check the progress for the showing the next day what was going on as I was "scaring" his installer and he was threatening to leave. Empire - you should NOT be sending installers who don't know how to troubleshoot a job. Oh by the way the head installer informed that my daughter in law should have asked the estimator more questions regarding the steps to have prevented this issue! Seriously!!! Also my daughter in law has tried and tried to discuss this with Empire and they won't return her calls.
We believe that Empire owes us money back ($200 would satisfy us) for the inconvenience and lack of professionalism that was displayed by their installers that day. We also believe that whomever they hire to do installations should be trained in proper customer service and should be trained in how to troubleshoot a job and how to talk to customers. Until we hear from someone to resolve this we will continue to tell friends and family about our bad experience.
We are saddened to hear that this was your experience, and would like to investigate this matter further. Please email your son's and daughter-in-law's account information to customersupport@empire-today.com, and mention Consumer Affairs in the subject line.

We also had laminate flooring installed in our efficiency kitchen, which is a 5 ft by 6 ft area, about 37 square feet. Since our dining room and living room and hall are 3 times that size we figured the carpet was about 2500, and the laminate was the difference. Well, when the kitchen was done this past Saturday, the installers took about an hour and 10 minutes to remove the rug in the kitchen. They were done with the installation very quickly.
On Monday different installers came to lay the carpet but said they couldn't as we had asbestos tiles underneath. We qualified for 8000 in financing from Empire. When the total amount of 3300 was told to us we agreed because we were never given a price per square foot of the laminate nor the carpet. So imagine our astonishment when we were billed over 1500.00 for 35 feet of laminate flooring. I called to complain but no one is helping us. We have since called in another company who said the laminate would have cost us 600.00 if we used them. We are seniors on a diet ex income and Empire should have given us pricing per square foot for each job upfront. We asked the salesman several times but he just responded that we were getting a great deal. Buyer beware! We didn't get that price until Saturday After laminate was installed!

I rarely write negative reviews but our experience with Empire was so bad that not only am I compelled to write a review about it everywhere I can, if there was a way not to give them any stars that would be more appropriate. We were moving into a new unit and needed to have the carpet and tile replaced. We had never used Empire before but remembering all of their commercials and wanted to give them a try. They certainly promote the quality of their work along with their expertise, speedy installation and guarantee so we thought this might be a good option to get our project done in a timely manner. Since we had a specific move-in date it was imperative that our flooring was done before move in. We had scheduled for a sales representative to come out and take a look at the space in order to show us samples and take measurements. We mentioned we would want carpet, tile and possibly window treatments (blinds/drapes).
When the sales rep arrived he talked so fast and was so rushed that he left without ever mentioning anything about the window coverings. Regardless, we had arranged for him to come back a few days later in order to possibly finalize the order. In the interim, during the several days until his return appointment, we got a call from Empire corporate saying that since we were first time customers and as an incentive they would like to offer us a discount from the original quote of $300. We were pleased with that and based on this information decided to move forward and give Empire our business. When the sales rep returned for our 2nd meeting and to finalize the order he wrote up a final quote to which my husband said the amount was incorrect and should be $300 less based on the call from corporate.
The sales representative said he doesn't know anything about this call from corporate and that Empire gets these "new people with no knowledge" to call on customers and offer them ridiculous discounts that they shouldn't be doing. Already feeling uncomfortable at this point we explained that it's not our fault or problem that corporate and sales reps are not in-tune with each other but we should be given the discount as promised. At this point the sales representative completely lost his temper, started yelling at us that we are costing him his commission and threw the $100 we gave him in cash as the deposit in my husband's face. We also had painters and other workers in the unit at this time who witnessed this which was beyond embarrassing. My jaw literally dropped from what was happening and I could not believe how we were being treated.
My husband was about to throw him out and tell him to never come back but we were really pressed for time in order to get our flooring done and at this point didn't have the extra days to shop around for a new vendor. (Which there are plenty of out there by the way). Eventually the salesman calmed down and said that he would honor the offered discount. (How nice of him!) Once he filled out the order we asked him several times if he got the measurements he needed and he assured that he had. He said that everyone these days uses the laser measuring system but he doesn't need to do that, that he's been doing this for so many years and knows exactly what he's doing. We also stressed to him that it was imperative that everything was done on time because we had other contractors scheduled to come in after the tile and carpet was installed to do additional work to the unit and that we were moving in the day after that.
He assured us that both the carpet and tile installation would be done on the Saturday we scheduled it for. He said they would be coming in the morning and would be done with everything in the afternoon that day. I had him confirm that several times because of the strict timeline we had and he assured us that everything would be set and done by EOD on that Saturday. Friday evening we received a confirmation of the install for Saturday. Saturday morning (the day of installation) we get a call from a customer service center saying "Sorry, we are out of tile and therefore will not be installing your tile today." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. We thought there was some mistake and explained that can't possibly be as we finalized our order a week ago and were assured that everything was being done that day.
The rep on the phone basically could care less. She said that she's just the messenger and doesn't know anything except that we are not getting our tile today and for that matter she doesn't know when we would be getting it. We immediately tried to reach the sales representative who basically didn't want to have anything to do with it at this point. (He must have gotten his commission so could care less). He said he has nothing to do with the installation process and that we will need to contact corporate on Monday!! (2 days later!) This after assuring us and reassuring us that all will be done on Saturday. And it only got "better" from there. Around mid-morning the carpet installers came. As they looked at the space and almost started tearing out the old carpet one of the installers asked "Who measured these rooms?"
We informed him that it was the sales representative and then he asked if he used a laser measure. We said he did not because he said he didn't need to and knew what he was doing. The installer said that whatever he did, he didn't measure anything properly and that they do not have enough carpet to do the job! At this point I was starting to feel like we were being "punked”. We were now in frantic mode! Since nothing was installed we now had to contact a number of other contractors to push back and put a hold on their work and beg our current landlord for at least an extra couple of days because now we could not move into our new unit.
Aside from the stress and aggravation this also cost us quite a bit of money starting from deposits on additional work, cleaning service that was pre-paid and double rent per day to stay in our old unit longer and ALL of our time spent in dealing with this situation including having to take so much additional time off from work! First thing Monday morning my husband and I were on the phone with Empire customer service where it took conservatively an hour of being bounced around where no one wanted to help us. We had to repeat our situation every time to a new customer service representative where no one seemed concerned, cared to help us and just wanted to pass us to a different department.
When we finally did get someone that said could possibly help we thought the team would be very apologetic and want to rectify the situation asap but instead we were met with a very relaxed attitude saying that they would have to see what they could do. After re-hashing our story for probably the 10th time we were told that they could get the carpet installer to come out that day to do the job but they would need to be paid upfront for all the work and that they still had no idea when someone could come out and do the tile. I told them I didn't even care at this point if we got the tile we picked, to install any tile because we are now running out of time. Again, I wish I could have just hung up, never to deal with this company again but after all this we didn't have any extra days left to deal with the situation.
After speaking to several more people it turned out that apparently the "lovely" sales representative also wrote up the wrong order for our tiles in the wrong size and that they had the tile we picked all along! We had no energy to argue about anything with them anymore at this point and just wanted this nightmare to end. The new manager said that they would have the tile installed the following day (which is now Tuesday – 4 days after the initial set date) and she would have to see what they could do about a discount since we had now come out over $500 out of pocket for all the expenses incurred from not having the work done. Until then, we were told, we had to pay the contractors the FULL fee upfront and then they would figure out the further discount. We literally felt like we were being controlled by the mafia.
We did finally get the carpet installed and just when we thought we might be done with this whole thing, the following day when the tile installers showed up they realized they did not have enough tile to do the job!!! At this point, the whole thing was almost comical. We were joking that a TV sitcom couldn't have come up with something like this. After a ton more calls with no apologies for anything and now being told that the tile job might not get done (and at this point we were no longer able to postpone anything else) we demanded that if the job wasn't finished that day there might be a lawsuit on their hands... after much more deliberation someone came by to deliver the additional missing tile and the poor installers had to work until late to get everything finished.
I will say that in this whole experience, the actual workers who are installing the product are very nice and knowledgeable so the massive problem is clearly with management and sales. I want to make sure it's clear that the installers didn't do anything wrong as they get their orders from the sales team / corporate and management. They are just the poor guys following terrible direction and orders from the team above them. I'm still in awe and COMPLETE shock every time I think about this experience which had to be one of the worst I've ever had in dealing with a company. There are SO many companies out there who provide flooring solutions. You would think in a space with so much competition an organization with such a big name would care more about their image but it obviously doesn't seem that way.
Oh and by the way, not one word since from their team offering even a small apology! One other major warning sign is that they demand ALL money up front before they start the job which is unheard of. Usually it's 50% down after which point, if the job is done properly the remaining balance paid. With a demand to pay for 100% of the work before any work is even done all power is taken away from the consumer and if something goes wrong, mistakes are made, or there's damage caused to your property you would have to fight them to get any money back! Stay away from this company!!

We have used Empire flooring for ALL of our carpet and vinyl needs for many years. Up until this last events we were very happy. We had some Armstrong vinyl in our breakfast area that the top layer started peeling off. We understood that it was past the Empire one year warranty, however Armstrong had a lifetime warranty on the product. In our attempts to file a claim through Empire we were met with all types of refusals, reasons why it is OUR problem, it is your fault and it is past our warranty statements. NO level of customer service was provided. Finally, somehow, we got our claim to Armstrong, and they fully agreed to replace the product but through Empire.
Working with Empire in selecting the right replacement, scope of work to be done, product to be used and all other details seemed smooth until the day of installation. The wrong size product was delivered, inferior product (same material) was delivered, workmanship on installation was the worst I have seen from this company, workmen spent the entire day on their personal phones or gone somewhere, installation issues were left for me to correct. Empire had two weeks to get this order RIGHT, to show some level of CUSTOMER SERVICE and to show they cared. THEY FAILED.
We have read your posting and are sincerely disappointed to hear about the events that occurred throughout your experience. We will be in contact with you shortly to address your concerns and start working towards to resolution.

I went and looked in Home Depot but they couldn’t schedule an install within the week and Empire could. So, I ended up making my purchase with Empire. I had the carpet installed in the upper hallway and the bedroom in my home. It took them one afternoon to complete the install. It was how I expected it to be. I like the carpet’s colors and feel of it too. It feels really nice and flush. The whole experience was quick and the product was of good quality.

We started this experience early Dec 2016. Sales rep came out and I picked out flooring for two rooms, foyer and stairs. The installation team came out early as scheduled, looked at our floors, and determined they can not use the floors I picked out due to not being able to cut and that I'd need to pick out different flooring. I kept getting weekly phone calls after that to verify installation for another date and I repeatedly told them I need to see the sales rep to pick out different flooring. Finally on about March 1st another sales rep came out and we picked out flooring, and scheduled installation for Mar 8, 2017. We cleared off the floors for the 2nd time, took off work, got up early and waited. (The first time the crew was here by 7:30 am).
About 8:30 am I called customer service, they verified the delivery and responded with "They are loading the truck and will call with an ETA." About 1 1/2 hours later the local person called and said the installer had something personal come up and they wouldn't make it today. I called customer service and they were told they didn't have enough installers. Very poor customer service. Sure hope the flooring, if we ever get it, proves to be better. Oh and the $6500.00 has been secured and the deposit was taken back in December.
We’re sorry to hear about the problems you've had with your installation, that's not how we want our installations to go. We’ll be contacting you soon to start working towards a resolution.

I'd looked at several different places such as RC Willey, Home Depot, Lowe's and even some wholesale places before settling for carpeting from Empire. Their original price was not so good but it worked out well after they did a price match. I had the salesperson in the house and she was very good. She was very knowledgeable and wanted to make sure that everything went well. Their guys also moved forward in a matter of a couple of days where others won't in about a week.

I had wall-to-wall carpeting installed in my home. The house is a two-family house here in Lakewood and it’s bigger than a lot of homes here because it was built as an enormous single home. I wanted something that was resistant to pet urine in case there ever is a pet, and my Empire carpet is just that. With the beautiful national woodwork that I just refinished, the coloring goes perfect with it too. The quality’s fantastic and it's a beautiful carpet.
The first carpeting that Empire put in a month ago had to be ripped out because it had a foul smell and they were fantastic about it. At first I thought maybe they would give me some opposition towards this, but right from the very start they instantly said they would replace the carpeting, before they even sent the representative out here to inspect it. Then the new carpeting got put in very quickly. It has just a slight brand new smell, nothing like the other carpeting. They replaced the padding too. Their supervisors called me to make sure I was satisfied and everything was okay. They went beyond of what I expected.

The wood floor was well done, as was the carpet installation. Everything was put back in place and my house left in good order. Subsequently, I found damage to my new wood floor and to my door jambs and walls as a result of the carpet installation; more than should be expected. I entered separate, online complaints to customer service, which took multiple attempts to actually make contact and then initiate action. I never received an actual response to the carpet damage from my initial complaint entry. I did get response about the wood floor damage. Per customer service, I sent pictures of all the damage and waited for someone to inspect the damage firsthand. However, only the hardwood installers came to the house. They were good enough to not only inspect the wood floor but also to take pictures of the damage due to the carpet installation.
While the above was in play, I called my salesman about the problems and the extended time it was taking to secure a resolution. He told me to call Amy **. Amy and I played telephone tag for a bit. When we're able to talk, I told her it had taken too much time and too many calls to get a resolution. I gave her my feedback, and she offered to fix the wood floor at no expense to me and gave me a 10% discount on the carpet to compensate for the damage. I feel this was a fair resolution.
So, in summary two complaints were entered, only one initially responded to. It took at least 6 calls plus emails with customer support to get someone to my house. Instead of sending one person to investigate the damage, the original wood floor installers were sent; but were good enough to take pictures of the carpet installation damage (which duplicated the ones I had already provided a week earlier). I felt compelled to call my salesman to get someone to respond with a solution. Amy ** finally resolved the issues for me. In my opinion a reasonable response to these problems should not have extended for weeks with multiple phone contacts and emails. And one knowledgeable person inspecting the damage with the authority to offer a solution on the spot could have made this process much more professional and efficient.
We sincerely regret to read about your experience and assure you that this is not the level of service that we expect for our customers. We understand that we have spoken to you in regards to your concerns, and we will continue to follow up until a solution is reached.

Working with Empire has been a nightmare. They were supposed to install the carpet last Monday. I received a call the Friday before saying the carpet was in. We scheduled the installation for Monday. At 6:30 in the morning last Monday, I was told that the carpet WASN'T in and that they would call me when it arrived. I then was told at the end of last week that the carpet was delivered to their warehouse and did I want them to install it yesterday, today or tomorrow. I took off from work today and told them to install it today. YESTERDAY, I received a call in the late afternoon telling me that the carpet WASN'T here and that they WEREN'T going to install it today. At 9:00 TODAY, I got a "robo-call" telling me that the installer was on his way - this was AFTER I changed all my plans since they told me that they WEREN'T installing today.
I changed my plans back and spoke to the woman at Customer Service just to confirm that the robo-call was correct. She said yes, that it definitely was confirmed and that the installer would be at my apartment in the late morning. So, I spent two hours taking apart my bedroom so they could install the carpet. At 11:30 AM, the installer showed up. He said he COULDN'T install the carpet because the roll was too large to cut on the ground. I had ordered carpet for TWO rooms - same carpet, same color. He was going to unravel the carpet on the ground in Manhattan and cut it BEFORE bringing it up to my apartment but because it had rained, the ground was wet and he couldn't unravel it on the dirty ground in Manhattan. I asked him if this was their common practice - to cut the carpet on the ground on the street! He said it was when there is no room to cut it elsewhere. At this point, I was livid.
I had spent two hours taking apart my bedroom only to find out that they were going to take the carpet BACK to their warehouse, have it cut there and then come back tomorrow to install. This is an absolute nightmare. I have NEVER written a bad review like this before for ANYONE but this was such horrible customer service that I felt compelled to let others know how bad this company is. I should have purchased the carpets at Home Depot or a credible carpet store. Do NOT be fooled by their ads. They are TERRIBLE.
I have tried getting a hold of someone responsible in their customer service department and NO ONE seems to have the courage or courtesy to give me a call. Their customer service person said she was going to pass me over to some guy called "Jim" and after being on hold for 5 minutes waiting for this "Jim" character to speak with, I was disconnected. I called back again and got some underling who couldn't help. I told him I wanted to speak with someone in customer service and he said he'd have someone call me. Of course, no one has called.
We have read your post and sincerely regret to hear about the delays throughout your installation. We understand that we have spoken to you and have decided on a installation date. We will continue to follow up until a solution is reached.

I have to say this was one of the worse decisions I ever made when I decided to have Empire install my flooring. Late last week, I decided to redo my bathroom and I accidentally scratched three of the boards in the hallway. I placed a call to Empire and asked if they can ship me 3 boards (or even a box) and I will gladly pay whatever the cost was. They told me the only way I can get three boards is if I pay them 500 dollars for them and have them install. They informed me they do not sell flooring but only install the flooring. I fought with them for over a week and they still refused to do this unless I paid for the installation. Nowhere in my contract does it state that if I have an issue due to my negligence that I need to pay them to fix a few boards.
I had to rip up the entire hallway myself (11x3) and buy new flooring at Lumber Liquidators for 100 bucks and install myself. They have the absolute worse customer service I have ever seen. They should be ashamed of themselves. If I was told this information upfront, I would not have used them. 3 boards should not cost me 500 bucks. Do not use them for anything. After this fiasco, they called me and said they would sell me a box for 200 bucks but of course the warranty on the floor goes away. Even though I only needed 3 boards. And they took the extras away after the install even though I paid for those boxes. These crooks need to be out of business.

We had an appointment this evening with Empire Today. From the moment the "salesman" stepped through the door he was rude and pushy, as a consumer before you even get down to brass tacks you want to see the warranties, the product being offered, and spec sheets on the products. The salesman became borderline aggressive when asked what the warranties of the company are, and stated "we are putting the cart before the horse".
He accused my girlfriend of having a bad taste in her mouth, before he even showed up. He again accused her of being tired and told us it wasn't worth his time to stay here and show us the products. The gentleman was promptly shown the door and unfortunately he said his name so fast I was able to catch it, otherwise I would post his name here in a marquee. Trust me when I say you will never hear from us again.

I have been very disappointed in the duplicity, "bait and switch" tactics and lack of transparency regarding my flooring sale and installation. Specifically: It does not appear I was given the "50/50/50 off" price but a much higher price instead. I was told that they could not install tile in my den and kitchen, but would have to install LAMINATE instead because it was an older house. Yet two tile installers from another company who later came to quote different jobs, said that was nonsense, that tile is routinely installed in all types of houses and floors, including older ones and ones on crawl spaces.
When Empire's installers got here, they told me that the floor was slightly higher in one spot and that I could NOT install LAMINATE because IT would crack, but kept trying to get me to install carpeting again instead! They ended up sanding and putting cement on the floor but did not level it properly and you can still tell when you walk on it, that they did not completely level the floor in that area. It was also discovered that the kitchen floor was slightly higher than the den floor and the installers wanted to charge me another $600-$800 to install plywood in the den to make the floors the same height. This is something that should have been pointed out by you and addressed at the time of the quote, instead I ended up having to put an ugly bridging piece across the seam, breaking up the line of the room.
The salesman told me I could install tile in the laundry room because it is on a concrete floor. What was installed was not tile, it was LVT or luxury VINYL tile. I was never TOLD this, nor even shown an actual piece of tile (where I might have seen how thin and cheaply made it is and that it is not truly "tile"), but a "picture of a room" with the tile and told to choose which color I liked better. I have sent my Salesman two emails and he has not responded... He sells floors every day, all day long and knows not only what issues exist with a floor but what can and cannot be done to it and the associated costs - and yet he skirted the truth in order to make a sale! So basically, I ended up paying double to get something other than what I wanted when I could have gotten what I asked for!!! What a sorry and duplicitous way to do business!!!
Our goal is for our customers to have a great experience from start to finish - and we're sorry that didn't happen. Please send us your account information to customersupport@empire-today.com, and mention Consumer Affairs in the subject line so we can further assist you.

I moved and didn't know anybody here so I didn’t know who to call. I paid the money to Empire Today and then these people showed up. There was never any option or question, it was just done. I had 12x24 tiles installed in the two bathrooms. There's a Mohawk laminate floor downstairs. And then, upstairs is engineered hardwood.
They started on the 10th of January and they ended on the 9th of February. They had one installer that knew what he was doing but he was only here maybe a day and a half and they put him on another job. Then, I had these two installers that were ridiculous. They were on the phone with their wives or girlfriend, yelling and screaming at them several times a day. He was in my garage and I could hear him yelling on the phone in my kitchen. These were 20-minute phone calls and they don't speak English which I was intimidated by. If somebody is emotional, then they're not going to do well and it's not professional.
I called Empire directly and told them several times that I don't want these installers in my house but they said that they're third-party and they don't have any control over the installers. They took all my money upfront and I felt very trapped. They were at my house working and I let them do it because I wanted them to finish and get the heck out of here. I ended up having to move out of my house and stay at the Saratoga Inn four nights towards the end because they were working here so late and I couldn’t take it any more. They were sawing and pounding for many nights, 'til 11:00 pm and my neighbors complained. I told Empire Today about it but they continued to do that. They took forever and wouldn't get out of my house.
The tiling in the bathrooms is atrocious. There's a broken tile behind the toilet and the woodwork edging that they put down is full of nails and nail holes. For instance, there is a one-inch slice of the woodwork between the tub and the drawer that have five nail holes in it. It's ridiculous. It's even chipped off the white paint that is part of it. Also, there are several places they pounded so hard in putting the floors down, the paint chipped off the corners of the wall. I glued one big piece back on. I also have some nice woodwork that are part of this house and they're scratched.
Also, the sample they showed me for the Acacia engineered hardwood was only one piece which was definitely on the lighter end of the wood. When they started installing it, I've got some of the light pieces and pieces that range all the way to pretty dark and in between. So, it's a multi-tonal floor. It’s very fluid-like patchwork, different wood, light and dark. And that in itself is pretty interesting. But if I had a sample with these different colors, I don't think I would have had it in my house. It's quite dizzy and isn't the sample they had that I picked out but it's okay, it'll work. Then, when they glued the floor down, they ended up using too much glue. Their hands were covered in it so, when they touched everything, there were glue spots all over the floor. The guy who was supposed to be in charge of installers came and hand-cleaned everything but it's still there in many places.
The entire experience was just awful. I'm a recent widow trying to buy a house and start my life and this is just a nightmare. I got a recommendation finally from the local company and they're coming to give me a quote on taking out the tile floors and their edging, stick with woodwork and then redoing that. I’m having to spend money now having a different company but I don't want these installers back in my house.
Your concerns are important to us and we regret to hear that your experience was not a positive one. We will be in contact with you soon to discuss this matter further.

We had some friends who had some work done and had some carpeting installed by Empire Today and were very happy with it. So, we went a little bit on their recommendation. Their cost and quality worked out very well for us compared to other brands. We had carpet and tile installed in our home and the two teams that came in were very professional, nice, pleasant and fun to work with. However, we were told that the tile people would be here on a certain day and then the carpet people would come the next day. But the tile people, for whatever reason, did not come in on the day they were supposed to and came in the next day. That was a problem, considering that we had painters coming to paint around after the product had been installed. Then after the painters left, we had the company. So, it was a very tight schedule when we scheduled it.
The only other issue was that the representative who did the selling to us said that he did not have little samples of our carpet or our tile so that we could go out and purchase the paint ahead of time. We had to wait until it was installed. But even if it'd been samples that we could keep for hours, that would have been fine. We would have been more than happy to see that he got them back. Nevertheless, the job was done correctly and accurately, and the color and the quality of the product itself worked out very well for us.

They didn't use any cement and I was under the impression that they usually do that.
I hate to have to dig it up again but I don't know which is the best option. The fellow that came here told me to call him if there was any trouble but I don't have his name. But the fellows were very nice, worked all day and did a great job. A gentleman who didn't speak English called and didn't really understand me. I barely understood him as well. I ordered carpet and Laminate floor from Empire. The sales girl Cindy was nice, the installers did a good job. My complaint is as follows. I signed a contract for 5000 for the job. The contract did not match the total cost of the job that was presented to me at the end of the job installation. The 3 papers I signed at the completion of the job totaled $4499. I financed $4500 and put an additional payment of $500 on my credit card.
I called Empire and they said basically "too bad you signed for 5000 and it doesn't matter the job actually came to $4499." I am very disappointed that they take this attitude. As a consumer when you feel ripped off by a company it is very disheartening. I know a lot of people to which I would have recommended Empire but I will not now. My advice to people, when you sign a contract make the company breaks down the price ahead of time, as they did at the end of the job instead of just signed a total amount.

They came and living up to their word had the floor in within 5 hours. However, the molding doesn't match the floor, it's pink, and the flooring itself is not the color I picked out. It is the ugliest floor I've ever seen. I was told if there was a problem the owner of the company would contact me. That didn't happen. Salesman came out, saw the problem, agreed and told me we would have resolution by Wednesday. Of that week. Instead we were given another stall and told Thursday. When Thursday came we were told someone would be out to see the floor Saturday. They are not BACKING their floor is the real bottom line. This is a $2000.00+ mistake. Don't use them. Save your money. Go to Home Depot or anywhere but Empire. No one deserves this, it's a nightmare. I'm buying rugs to hide this monstrosity.
Our goal is for our customers to have a great experience from start to finish - and we're sorry that didn't happen. We understand that we have been in contact with you regards to this matter, and we'll continue to follow up with you until a solution is reached.

I saved money for two years to put new flooring into my apartment. The sales rep was very happy and eager and assured me I was going to be very pleased with the "high quality" vinyl flooring I chose and the lifetime warranty that Empire provides. I cared for my flooring just as I was told to do, and four months later I noticed dents in the flooring where my couches sit.
While dealing with the customer service department for the last four months, I have been hung up on, run around and simply often ignored. It takes me leaving at least 4-5 messages for several different people including the customer service manager before even speaking to someone. Then they tell me that they will replace the flooring... with the same flooring. Ever heard of the Einstein's definition of insanity... "to do the same thing over and over and expect different results". Dealing with this company and its disregard for its customers and their investment I feel insane. But mostly I feel taken advantage of.
We regret to hear that this was your experience. We understand that we have been in contact with you regarding your concerns. We'll continue to follow up until a solution is reached.

I had laminate floor and carpet installed at home downstairs by Empire Today. When I compared them to the other guys, they had the same stuff, though it may have been made in a different place. Even the warranty was about the same. Also, 50 Floor matched their price, but I liked Empire Today's salesman a little better. But I asked him for an estimate on the upstairs on the day before the install because I wanna redo the carpet there as well. However, he told me that he was in a hurry because he was going to another customer. He then said that he'll be back and call me the following week to see how the flooring went after the installation and then he could do the estimate, but he never called. They could've made more money with it, but I decided to go with somebody else. Other than that, my overall experience with them went well and the new flooring has met my expectations.

We had laminated flooring in the bedrooms and carpet in the stairway foyer installed by Empire Today. We heard good things from people talking about Empire so we just gave them a shot. I wanted a floor in a certain price range, so I looked at what they had in the price range and picked from that. I basically said what I want and they showed me options and I worked through that. I liked their price and the convenience. It was a good experience. The salesperson was professional, honest, and forthcoming. The installation people did what they were supposed to do and was good in that. They made sure it was the right stuff that you wanted before they started. Everything we wanted, they accommodated. Empire Today was all efficient. I was satisfied and had no problems at all. I would use them again and recommend them.

Empire Today was handy to me as I pass by the store every day. I had them install a rug in one room and we did all right. The installation was perfect and I have no complaints. The guy worked by himself and had to haul everything in. My wife picked out the color and I thought it was too light for the room as we're in and out of it. The room gets a lot of activity from the garage which isn't always very clean and the backyard where I could be working in the garden. But the color is a good one for the house and for the colors that we have in here.
However, our salesman was a little overzealous. There was a lot of hee-hee, haw-haw and he was trying not to stick in the business. He was trying to be friendly and making it sound a simple job. And he made a mistake there. He quoted me a price in writing and tried to charge me a little higher price later. I had to point out the fact that he had in writing what the price is. He denied it until I showed him and he was pretty embarrassed. But we got it settled. I told that to a fellow over in rank than him and the fellow gave me his card if I ever have any trouble. I thought that was all right and I'd recommend them.

We met with a sales rep last month and picked out flooring for our home. To save money we decided to pull up all the carpet and old hardwoods ourselves, and have all the furniture out and floors prepped before install. Received a call asking us to move our install date from April 25 to March 2 and they would give a corporate discount of $500 off our new hardwoods. Agreed and now we really have to get moving on demo and moving furniture out.
Well today is the day and they come in and tells us that they can not install our flooring because of the humidity is greater than the floors itself. This test should be completed prior to purchase. If done so we could have picked out different flooring that accommodates. The sales representative should have tested and made us aware. I have contacted several customer service reps including the sales supervisor Kenneth **, that was very rude and non-compliant of the issues we are having. I myself took off from work to have this installation completed and I can say was a waste of time and money on my part. Never go with Empire. I would not recommend them to anyone and as far as their always striving for a perfect 10 they have received a 0 from this customer. They have not upheld their promises for "building customers for life."
We’re sorry to hear about the problems you've had with your installation. That's not how we want our installations to go. We want to learn more about what happened and work with you to make things right. We’ll be contacting you directly to help.

We have used Empire with an older house we had and had a pretty good experience. So when we bought a new house we decided that we wanted laminate floors. We made an appointment online for a Tuesday evening. My husband took off of work early and we waited for the salesperson to show up. Finally I called to verify that they were coming. The lady on the line said she was sorry but no one was going to be coming that night. I was like, "Why didn't anyone call me?" She was very apologetic and I decided to try again so the following week we made another appointment. My husband again took off work early. No one called or showed up again and I had talked to someone from empire earlier that day that promised me someone was going to be at my house. When I called them they offered me 100$ off if I try to make another appointment.
I again tried for the following week. They had talked to the manager and guaranteed that someone would be at my house this time. My husband again took off work early. I called the company numerous times during the day to guarantee that someone would actually show up. They said yes someone would be here. An hour before they were to be here I received a message stating that they were not going to make it. I was livid! I called back where I was told the manager of the store would call me personally in about 30 mins. No one called. Then I was told the corporate office would call. No one called from them either. I live in a large community and many of my neighbors wanted to see the work of empire floors in my house and maybe go with them. But after this horrible experience I told them to never go with them. Not very good customer service.

Therefore they tried it again and when I viewed my credit card account online I saw where they took the money off my card twice but when I called them about it, they pretended like it didn't happen. A few days later I called back and just told them to refund all my money and the agent tells me that she do not have my contract. I had Empire Today install carpet in our bedrooms, loft stairs, and the master bathroom. The salesperson was great and the people who came out for the installation were good. They were very quick and got it all done in one day. However, it was our first time having somebody come out and install anything in our home. It would have been nice if they could have helped us by giving suggestions that were more feasible like giving other options and other materials. Now, I kick myself because I probably shouldn’t have carpeted the stairs because I have little kids. Also with the master bathroom, I probably could have gone with laminate because of our budget. But we got a little intimidated by the price of the other types of flooring that we settled on carpeting everything besides the stairs. Otherwise, the carpet is easy to clean. Sometimes, something spills and it isn’t easily absorbed by the carpet.

The installation was really good but there was a mess. Empire Today took all the leftovers although I needed some. Also, we have a problem that has to be repaired and I have nothing to repair it with. They were supposed to send somebody back to fix this and if I even had some samples of what they had, I could get it fixed without having them come all the way from Kent. Moreover, I've also never received anything to pay them back yet, I haven't received coupons. Nevertheless, they did a very good job.

I thought Empire Today was too expensive. But their sales rep gave me a good deal so I went with them. However, there was a little mix-up. I'm not sure whose fault it was. It was just the fact of how things came about with me paying for it. Also, I didn't know that I had a warranty. And as time went on, I was noticing there were little pieces of things that were not quite complete. The man who did it was rushed and I felt if he wasn't rushed then it probably wouldn't have been a mistake.
When the gentleman was doing the vinyl in the kitchen, two men came in to do the carpet for the living room. The carpet guys said, "You need to hurry up. You need to finish so we can move this back so we can do the carpet." And it was putting him at unease and even the field manager and his boss came out because the carpet guys were stating, "We'll just come back. You have to reschedule." And that put me in a bind because I had to leave work to come for this. But when they finished the carpet and vinyl, it was great work, so I'd recommend them. The flooring itself met my expectations. It was just that little incident in between there that made me a little uneasy. And I realize that was not Empire per se, those were the contractors. But these are well-known contractors that work for Empire. And I should have never experienced anything like that.

Empire had a very similar carpet that I also liked, but they were able to do it within a two-week period. Home Depot was six or eight weeks out. It’s a nice carpet. I like that it is soft. I have kids and I don't want them to smack their heads off hard surfaces all day long. That was my deciding factor in putting carpet in. Empire Today did a good job. They were quick, they were clean, everything's holding up, so far. The guys were good and professional. I was very satisfied. I have recommended them to a couple of people. I had laminate wood floors installed by Empire and was very pleased with the process from start to finish. So I decided to use Empire for window treatments. Unfortunately this process has been terrible. On January 21 I met with the sales person, Karen, who measured my windows and placed my order. She was very professional and I looked forward to being contacted by Empire again for the second measurement as promised. Over a week went by and I hadn't heard from Empire, so I contacted them.
When I was finally able to get them to set up the second measurement the gentleman who came to my home was extremely unprofessional complaining the whole time about the long drive he had, about his health issues, etc. After that visit 2 more weeks went by and no one from Empire had contacted me. I called to see if I could pin down the approximate date the blinds would be ready and set up an installation. I was told that they had to contact another party to find this information out, and that someone would call me back.
No one ever called back. This same scenario was repeated when I called again a few days later. As of today 6 weeks have passed since the initial order was placed and I have yet to receive a call from anyone at Empire except for Robert who apparently tried to make arrangements for the installer to call me back today. Once again no one called. The lack of customer service and follow through for such expensive items from a company that claims customer Service is a priority is frankly appalling. I still have no idea if the window treatments are ready or when I can expect them to be installed.
We apologize for the lack of follow up that you have received. We will investigate further and will be in contact with you soon.

I've used Empire a few times and I've had a great experience with them. I've had them install flooring and carpeting. I’m a contractor so the areas where they've installed flooring have varied. I had the entire house done with carpet, and just finished carpeting the basement yesterday with them. Kitchen and dining room areas were done with their PVC tile flooring. Then I did the hardwood flooring in a front living room area. The job was for a customer’s house.
My initial use of Empire was because of their speed. They were expedient in regards to their installation. We've continued to go with them because of their great service, polite, clean crews, who are fast and professional. I have yet to have an issue with them. I'm a general contractor and I deal with a lot of different types of trades and people associated with trades, and I give them As across the board. An Empire employee who's of Spanish descent and that spoke in broken English was fantastic to work with, and I'm going to request him on my next round. I've got another job coming, and I'm going to request that same crew because they've done exceptional work for me. I'd give them a recommendation.
However, there was one glitch. They called me a couple of months after an installation because they thought there was an outstanding balance of $1,000 when they were filling up their itinerary. They checked through their records. I pulled up the paperwork and showed them that there was a discrepancy in the paperwork and they actually called the office that day. When I brought the matter to the attention of a rep, and she saw the footnotes in their ledger or record, she had the situation rectified. She was very congenial about the issue and it worked out fine.

I do not usually review company's online unless it is a positive experience... but since we are continually being avoided and ignored I feel I have no other choice. In August 2016 we had Empire install flooring throughout our entire home. The downstairs was laminate wood flooring, and the upstairs was carpet. When the salesman came out originally I told him that I was interested in the most durable carpet they had, in which he sold us the product that we have now. I believe it is called Berber Carpet. After the installation my daughter noticed that her desk leg was broken, in which the installers did not report. The desk was literally 2 weeks old. If that had been the only problem, I would not be writing this review now. Unfortunately the Carpet that they have installed is HORRIBLE QUALITY!!!
The first time I vacuumed (with a brand new vacuum cleaner) the Carpet seam came up and separated the entire length of the seam (which happened to be in the middle of the room). Since then almost every other seam throughout the entire upstairs has done the exact same thing!!! We called the company and finally got them to come and look at it. The problem with that is they sent the actual person that had done the installation out so of course he tried to find every possible excuse as to why this occurred other than it being poor product or poor installation. Of course we requested someone else that had not been part of the initial installation come out and look at it. After several weeks we finally got another person out. He did not make excuses at all, he agreed that this should not happen and actually admitted that he did not know why it happened but it definitely was no fault of ours (the customer).
He took some pictures and said that he would have to now have his boss come out and take a look and we would go from there. The "boss" came out, he looked at everything, he asked to look at my vacuum cleaner, he took pictures and then he said he really didn't know why the Carpet was falling apart either. It did appear that he was looking to try to put the blame on us, but was unable to. He told my wife and I that he would have to make a report and would be giving us a call in the next week or so with some possible solutions. It has now been at least 2 months and we have heard NOTHING!!! We have called several times with it going to voicemail, leaving a message and still no return calls. We spent over 9,000.00 dollars with them and this is how we have been treated. My wife is sooo upset with the entire process!
We actually went with a big company so that we would not have to worry about them standing behind the work. At this point I would warn everyone to stay away from Empire Today!!! We feel we are getting the run around! We have new carpet that literally is coming apart at every seam! Yet they still have our money! Not right at all!!! I would not even be writing a negative review if they were trying to make it right, but they are not! They continue to avoid us. Take my advice your money is better spent with a company that will stand behind the work that they do!!!
We sincerely regret that your product is not meeting your expectations. We will be in contact with you soon to address your concerns.

BUYER BEWARE: We had an Empire sales person come to our home, measure, do up a quote and schedule our installation for today, Saturday 2/25. He spent at least an hour at our home and installation was confirmed several times by email and via phone. The installers showed up a 7:30am this morning to first tell us that since they were putting carpet over older basement tiles, the tiles had to be tested for asbestos so they could not do the basement install. Something that would have been nice of the sales person to let us know in advance considering our basement is a weight/workout room and we had to disassemble and move all the heavy equipment last night to prepare. And no, the tiles weren't unable to be seen, the sales person walked on them to take the measurements.
Now we have to schedule and pay for a test and take off work for both the test and that install again next week if we decide to move forward with them which at this point is highly doubtful. Next, they proceeded to tell us they didn't bring enough carpet to do the upstairs of the house which was measured and scheduled for installation as well. Mind you, for the past 2 days we have packed up closets, disassembled heavy furniture, unhooked all TVs and computers, etc., everything we were told to prepare for. Now, our entire house is basically packed or torn apart, pets moved, beds broken down, etc., the installers left and we have nothing.
Someone finally called almost 3 hours later to explain the dangers of asbestos tiles and why they have to be tested (duh!) and is trying to get different installers back out to at least start the upstairs. I honestly could have dealt with the asbestos testing mishap because I understand the issue and also understand sometimes ** happens (for lack of better words) but to not even attempt to complete the upstairs portion of the job is just beyond my comprehension. Especially considering the size of the job and the extent of prep needed to make it happen.
So far, no explanation as to why we weren't told about the testing upfront; no explanation as to why the upstairs couldn't have at least been started if not completed with a carpet that was in stock even if it meant using a different carpet; no offer for the inconvenience or to make it right... Nothing except a very weak attempt to get new installers back out to start the job that should have started at 7:30 this morning.
Bottom line, incompetence all around and pure laziness on the install end... Stick with and support a good local small business if you want something done right, wish we would have! It's now after 12pm and I haven't even heard another word, can't get thru to anyone at a management level, haven't heard back from our original sales person and am stuck sitting at my home waiting for some sort of answer. Considering the lack of simple communication, this is possibly the WORST customer service I've ever experienced!

If you want great customer service and you want to work with an honest company, I would not recommend using Empire for any type of purchase or install. We scheduled to have the carpet in our entire house replaced almost 2 weeks ago. I called Empire the Friday before the install date to confirm everything, and I was told our install had been rescheduled. No one contacted us to tell us anything. On top of that, the customer service rep was very rude. When I told him we scheduled our install almost two weeks ago, and we expected them to honor what we were told, he said, "well what do you want me to do about that".
I ended up speaking to one of the managers there, Edgar, and he called the installers and told me that we were on their schedule to have our carpet installed on Saturday, like we were told. The Rep that sold us the carpet even sent me a screen shot of our order and install date. We cleared out every closet in our home, and moved everything off all tables and sat around waiting all morning for the installers to show, but they never did. I called Empire to find out what was going on, and they told me we were dropped from the schedule and there was nothing they could do about it. Everyone I spoke to had a very nonchalant attitude and treated me as if my business meant nothing to this company.
I spoke to another manager, Joel, and told him what was going on, and he basically said, "well all we can do for you is reschedule you", that's it. I told him I wanted my deposit back because I didn't like that fact that we scheduled this install almost two weeks ago, and Empire changed the install date twice without letting us know, and then treated me like they didn't care about the time me and my family spent preparing our home for the carpet to be installed. I had to go back and forth with Joel about getting my money back because they were not trying to issue us a refund, and I finally had to tell him that I would write a review letting everyone know how they tried to rip us off and not give us our deposit back after Empire was the one that screwed up our order.
I also asked for a phone number or address to the corporate office to let someone else know about the problems we have had with this company, and Joel told me they don't have a corporate number or address and that there was no one else I could speak to. I have never been so stressed and treated so rudely from a company we were dealing with to have work done on our home. I purchased tile for two bathrooms in a JC Penney with Empire Today. I was told this was not a special order flooring and it could be installed. I purchased this floor over a month and a half ago. Today someone came out brought in two boxes and trim molding then the man immediately told me this is not worth his time to do the work. I am out of money time and has no floor. This installer left with my paid for material and my room was left just as it was before he arrived. He told me he was not going to install my floor today. I had been on the schedule for a month. He calls me at 7:40 to tell me he is on the way. He arrives and has excuses he can't do the work, he lives one hour and a half from my house and he does not have his glue gun. It's not worth his time.
I'm letting everyone know to stay away from this company. It is horrible. I'm thinking about hiring an attorney. I paid for two rooms of new flooring and got nothing replaced. A sick man arrived yesterday to install my other bathroom. He complained the entire time and quit after he tore up two feet of ceramic tile and quit the job. He said he was going home to get into a bed. This is the weakest company I have ever seen. I can't say enough bad things about this company. I want a refund since they stole my money and time. I should have just used a local tile carpet place down the street. I'm very upset about this. I have two rooms emptied out. My house is a mess. This company should be ashamed of not starting a job and sending out worthless installers that do not want to install the flooring.
We regret to hear that your experience did not have a positive start. We are aware that we have since completed the installation. For future questions or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empiretoday.com.

We had Empire Today put down Armstrong tiles in the kitchen and in the foyer of the house. The flooring doesn’t break easily, and it's easy to clean and maintain. My wife has a much easier time with it. Empire had an older gentleman who was experienced to do the installation. He knew exactly what to do on the tile floor because I had an old floor that was there before and then he was able to lay the floor on top of it, which worked out well.
The problem was that he missed the piece of the tile in the corner along the cabinetry on the left side of the front door. It was about an inch and a half from the cabinet and you could see it as you walk by. It wasn’t even in the back. It won't come out for 10 years. After the installer walked out, I went at Empire for it and said, “You're gonna have to send this guy that did the work. I want that piece installed. They were paid very well for what they had done.” The floor was not bad. It was just a missed piece and then the refrigerator got slid back against this spot with no flooring.
After about two or three days of complaining here and there, someone called me back and supposedly made an appointment for them to show up on a particular day. They apologized for it and told me it would be that day and they would have the man come back and finish the job. Then the day came and half a day went by, we hadn't heard from anybody. We called and complained about it. They said, “Oh, he's a little behind. He'll be there before we close up at 5:00 today.” No one ever showed. So consequently, I ended up doing the repair myself. For something that was quite expensive, I'm quite annoyed and would never wanna have Empire in my house again. Also, I would never recommend them again.
We have read your review and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We will be in contact with you soon to discuss your concerns in more detail.

Empire Today = upcharges & EXCUSES. Went to Empire Today to find a replacement floor for our condo which was damaged due to plumbing repairs under the concrete slab. We made Empire Today aware of our situation (displaced to a hotel during repairs). Found a LVP product and special ordered it on February 4. Our contract included floor prep, leveling and some appliance moving.
Feb 17th install crew arrives. Informs us that the concrete sub floor will require more leveling than what we paid for originally. We were also informed that they did not have enough product to do the diagonal install which we also PAID extra floor when we special ordered the flooring. We got a call and were told that leveling with Merkrete Pro Patch AL1 (20 bags) nw was required for approx $1800. After reminding them we already paid for leveling they reduced the price to $1300 and within an hour dropped it again to $1000. We went to the Empire Today location in Fairfax to negotiate a solution in person. We reluctantly agreed to a price for the floor leveling "upgrade".
Feb 23 installers came and did the Merkrete Pro Patch AL1 leveling. We agreed to not do the front coat closet as it has glued down engineered wood and we THOUGHT the flooring would be installed NO LATER THAN Sat. Feb 25th. When asked what the next step and when we would need to be back at the property no response was given. They PROMPTLY took MORE MONEY from us at that time.
Feb 24th after Empire Today MADE NO CONTACT WITH US, we started calling them for an update on our install. We were finally told at around 4 pm (note we both took off an entire day of work to be available for their installers) that the LVP product was "damaged by weather". We asked where the additional amount of floor supposedly ordered on Feb 17th for the diagonal install was, no response. We asked for a date when the replacement for the damaged flooring was to arrive AGAIN NO RESPONSE. So here we are waiting for our floor forced to stay in a hotel @ $129/night BECAUSE EMPIRE TODAY CAN'T GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER.
We sincerely regret to hear that your experience was not a positive one. We understand that we have spoken to you in regards to this matter and have agreed on a solution. If you continue to have questions or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empiretoday.com.

Let me start by saying that all I wanted was my bathroom re-tiled. Empire was unable to meet their part of the contract and it never happened. They left me a mess. The original consultation was by a gentleman who was very uneducated in regards to flooring installation and basic instructions. He told us that the toilet would be removed and replaced upon installation (for $125), and he assured us multiple times that the sink and vanity do NOT need removed, the installers work around it. I was confused by this. However, this is the first time having our bathroom floor redone so we went with what he said. Should've been a red flag. He also lifted up a broken tile and told us the subfloor looked okay.
The day of installation the gentlemen that came spoke poor English. He was also unhappy that the sink wasn't removed and said they absolutely cannot remove the sink/vanity and that they aren't allowed. He pulled up some of the tile and subfloor and told me that the subfloor had water damage and needed to come up. He also said there was a second subfloor that was fine. He told me to remove the sink, pull up the tile and subfloor and he could return later in the day to install the floor. He also recommended using grout for the job because my floor was slightly uneven. With a crying 3 month old baby I pulled the sink and vanity and removed it from the bathroom. I wasn't equipped with the tools or time to pull the floor so I called Empire.
I told them what had happened and questioned why I had been given the task of removing the tile and subfloor when I paid a large sum of money to have it done for me. I also told them about the sink. They had no idea why this happened and assured me that they are supposed to pull the tile and are capable of pulling the subfloor and replacing it if needed. The customer service manager had spoken to the installation manager and had rescheduled the installer to come back 2 days later because they needed to order the grout. I wasn't happy because my bathroom floor was torn up by the bathtub making my shower unusable because the floor and subfloor needed to stay dry. This is my only bathroom.
My husband called the customer service manager the day before installation to ensure there would be no issue removing and replacing the subfloor. She assured him that this would happen and was within the installer's scope and in my contract. I double checked my contract as well and in the section of subfloor it stated that the Empire installers can repair or replace the subfloor if deemed necessary.
The 2nd day the installers came it was a different group. They knew nothing of what happened the prior day and simply expected to have to lay the tile. Not only did the installer not come equipped with plywood, he also said he didn't feel comfortable doing it and that he's never replaced subfloor. He simply stated that he could simply put a new one on top (which doesn't sound like repair or replace to me) but it wasn't possible now due to the previous installers pulling up part of my subfloor. They even pulled up more subfloor to see what they were working with.
I spoke with one of their supervisors on the phone and he simply said that he has to go with what his installers are telling him. He asked me if the installers touched any more of the floor and I told him that they pulled up more of my subfloor for basically no reason. He wasn't happy about that. At that moment I knew that I was fed up and simply cancelled. That decision was supported by Empire seeing as that couldn't do the job. My bathroom was left with the floor and subfloor partially torn apart. Sink and vanity removed. Again, my only bathroom, with a family of 5.
In the days after I've received calls and emails from Empire. The emails are sent by a different person each time trying to offer deals to get me to replace my order. They basically just want my money. I emailed one person back and told them my issue and received no response. I received 2 calls while I was at work over 2 days. The first message I was unable to make out one word of what was being said. I feel like that was a technical issue on their part. The second call simply requested a call back. I called back to a number that put me on hold for 10 minutes, then hung up on me. I called back and left a message, never received a call back.
When discussing my experience with others I regret not asking around before doing this - Empire has a bad rep from everyone I've spoken to. I actually talked to someone that has a family member that works for them and he said their installers are trained on the job (meaning they pretty much have no idea what they're doing). He also said that all they care about is volume and want to get in and out as quickly as possible. They just want their money. Not to mention the contract has the price listed, but NO breakdown of costs in terms of labor, materials, etc. It's funny how they advertise that they price match, however, you don't know how much their stuff actually is. Ultimately, there's no communication. No care for their mistakes. No care for their misleading contract. And no care for following up to resolve any issues. I'll make sure that everyone I know is aware of this experience so that they don't have to ever go through what I did.
We have read your review and sincerely regret to hear about the events that occurred throughout your experience. We understand that you have cancelled your order, if you continue to have questions or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empiretoday.com.

Warning: Our bank disputed on our behalf, and we won so Empire will likely mark this review as "customer not responsive" because they have not stopped harassing us. For consumers: We got vinyl floor from them in April 2016, and to keep it short, product was substandard and install never completed. We were supposed to get carpet as well a few days after, but when we saw the quality of the actual material they brought, we canceled that portion of work order right away.
We filed a dispute with BBB and ended up having to go through our credit card company to resolve the matter. After several months and countless steps to verify that our claim was legitimate, and that we did in fact try to resolve the matter on our own with Empire to the best of our ability, the credit card company found in our favor. We have a letter from the bank stating this.
So what does Empire do? They have not stopped harassing us stating that there is an open balance for the amount that was disputed and keep threatening to send us into collections. We asked Empire to send us to a collection company because at least the collection company will look at all the paperwork and speak with our bank rep and then maybe we will be finally left alone. But no, we were told their collections is yet another department in house so in essence, the harassment will and has continued going on almost 3 months past date of resolution with the bank.
Thank you for making us aware of your billing concerns. We will investigate further and will be in contact with you soon.

When it did come out, I happened to be out of the country and I missed the payment by a day and Wells Fargo hit me with a $26 charge right off the bat and I’m trying to get that reversed. I got laminate from Empire Today in the front room that's like a den, as well as in my dining room and living room. I also got the two bedrooms done in carpet. I like their product and the people that came to do the job were very polite, careful and nice. They cleaned up everything after them and did a great job. However, I didn't like their customer service at all. The sales rep told me that the flooring could withstand four hours of water but that’s not true. The directions say not to put water on it. So, I'm watching that very carefully.
He also told me that I’ll get the warranty when they come to lay down the floor and the carpet, but they didn’t have it. I asked them to FedEx it to me and they said they had to get permission to do that. And then they called back and said they weren’t allowed. I said that I was thinking of cancelling my whole order because I want to see what the warranty says and the woman there said that she can do that for me very easily if that's what I wanted to do. Then I got a call from a gentleman and he told me they would mail it to me and asked if I really wanted to cancel it since I got a good price. I had paid the salesman $550 deposit and the balance was $4,900 and it’s a 12-month no interest through the bank which I like because I can go over there and pay it.
I told my granddaughter about them and she said she got a $7,000 estimate because she was going to do more than what I did. But she told them she wasn’t doing it because that was too much money. A week later, they dropped the price to $3,000. Now, I wonder if I would I have gotten it cheaper too if I did that. And I think that’s a bad recommendation. But apart from their customer service, my experience with Empire Today was very good.

We had hardwood floors installed and the stairs. The stairs wood doesn't match and they didn't finish the trim. I have called Matt the sales guy, he has never returned any phone calls. Called customer service and the First Lady who answered said the pictures I sent didn't match and Amy would return my call. Amy returned my call and looked at the pictures and said she talked to the guys and they match. I took the pictures to several business and they all said they didn't match. She didn't help at all and has never called again!
The installers didn't speak English very well and when I said I want them to rip it out and redo it they said it looked good. And that the oak doors didn't match it anyway. I said I know that but I don't want 3 different colors of wood in the house. When my husband got home from work I had to leave I as a woman I felt It was very demeaning. They didn't think I knew the difference in colors. They didn't finish the trim on the stairs up and down. I asked and was told they don't do that. Really we paid extra for it. Matt should have told my husband that it was not included and we would have did another option. It looks like I did the trim. It's very disappointing that the sales guy Matt doesn't return any phone calls. I guess once it's sold there's no follow through. Very upset and disheartening that a Huge company treats anyone like that. Let alone a woman. Please respond.

They did send someone. I saw them do the reading which showed that there was moisture on the slab yet they said that due to their contractor that came out said that he felt that it came from on top, they refused to honor their warranty. I thought it was supposed to be the next day but they said it's the next day from when they come and measure. I was putting up the house on Wednesday so I told them that if they come out on Monday, they have to be able to install the carpet on Tuesday, and they agreed. The salesman was super nice and they did cut some off the price before they even told me because they knew what I thought I was going to spend.
Then, Monday comes around, the guy comes out to measure my carpet. He then said that they can come on Thursday and install it. At that point, I flipped out on him because my house is going on the market on Wednesday. Pictures are done, everything's in and we need to sell the house. I just want to get the carpeting changed and I want it done for day one. They promised that they will come the next day and I can't have them doing the carpet while people are walking through my house. So he called and he'd put it in for Tuesday.
They really need to be honest about the schedule, although once the carpet got in, the installers did a great job. Everyone who came said that it was a great carpet and that it was the softest. They loved it and the kids play on it all the time. In fact, I sold my house on the first day that it went on the market, which wouldn't have happened had I not have the carpet. We lived in it for about a month afterwards and we were super glad we had done it once it was done. I ended up spending different but that's okay. I loved the carpet.
