I was a returning customer and had been happy in the past, however this time was different. I wanted to carpet a small bedroom. The sales guy came out on 10/25/16. Took the measurements and gave me a price. I had another business come out the next day and gave a lower price. The sales guy from Empire said they would match it with $40.00 over. I agreed. I was told the carpet would be installed 11/8/16. I called to confirm the date and I was told yes that was still the date. Yesterday morning 11/7/16, I called the main number to ask if my install date was still the same and I was told they couldn't get the person who would know so she left a message for him to call me. Late that afternoon I heard nothing and called again. Once again she couldn't get a hold of the person so she left another message. I texted the sales person to find out what was going on and he texted me back to say he would check on it tomorrow 11/8/16 first thing.

I asked that he let me know when he found out. I received no call or text from him all day. I did get a call from someone who said that they couldn't find it in the computer and that they would call back. They never did either. I called to cancel my order and the girl I spoke to once again said she had to call someone and the line dropped. Never called me back and I certainly have not called her back. This has been the worst experience I have ever had. No apologies no nothing. I will never use this company again! I had better not be charged for any of this!

I recently signed a contract with Empire Today for LVP flooring for 5 rooms in my home. When the crew arrived to install the flooring they first said they might not have enough materials because the salesperson (Marvin in Durham, NC) might not have measured correctly. Excuse me, but wasn't it to be expected that a salesperson would measure correctly? Next they said they might not be able to install the flooring because I might have plywood under my cabinets.

Marvin, the salesperson never mentioned this could be a problem. I called him while they waited and he said he didn't notice. He didn't notice I had cabinets? Am I the only customer who has plywood under vinyl? Nothing was resolved with Marvin, plus he kept telling me he was trying to shop with his wife. So? I was trying to get him to do his job! I'm sure the commission he made on my flooring purchase was paying for that shopping. Finally, the installers told me there was moisture under my carpet and they couldn't do the work. They thankfully left at that point.

After talking with a supervisor I set up another appointment for today to have them pull up the flooring and let the floor dry out. Imagine my surprise, after all that inconvenience, when the new crew told me there was no moisture and the plywood in the kitchen wasn't a problem! This after I had to take an additional day off work and pay a second time to board my dog!! The final straw was that they wouldn't even start today until I paid them in full for a job that hadn't even begun! Empire do you have a response? I've tried for two days to call and can't reach anyone. Long story, but DO NOT, DO NOT do business with Empire!!!

We ordered window treatments in first week of August 2016. We are in November now and we still did not fully receive our order. We made a 50% down payment and ordered cordless window treatments. Last week we received a voicemail and they are telling us they do not offer that service. What's upsetting is after calling Empire and talking to customer service no one is helping.

My wife and I are considering to take them to court if this issue continues. My suggestion is stay away from this company. They are liars and they do not provide you with the service they offer but they will tell you anything to take your money. Also their installers visited our home two times to take measurements and they still could not take the right measurements. We have called and left a voicemail and now we are waiting for their call. We will never ever use Empire Today and we will file a complaint with BBB.

My laminate flooring was installed in November 2015. The salesperson told me that I should get laminate and not wood, which I had originally wanted. She stated because I have a child and a dog that the laminate would be more durable. After about 8 months I noticed that the floor was beginning to buckle and bubble in several spots. I began calling to have service people come out in August. No one actually came until October 2016. The installers spoke to each other not in English, so that I wasn't able to understand them. After they left I was contacted and told that the damage was from water, and dog urine, and wouldn't be covered. I have since tried to follow up with customer service and a manager several times and am always told that someone will return my phone call, which they do not.

After doing a lot of shopping around, my wife decided she wanted to use Empire. It had something to do with pricing. The last sales rep we had here was a real good person. He knew what he was talking about, the job and the product and he wasn't too pushy. We worked everything out through him. The installers were very handy. They knew their job very well. Only thing is, on the recent installation, they could not make decisions on their own. We've had three installations with them. They installed the hardwood floor, carpeting and the most recent one, laminate flooring. Considering everything, I would recommend them to a friend.

Our mother had some carpet put in her house by Empire Today, and they did a good job at a reasonable price, so I decided to try them. I went ahead and had a representative come out and show me some stuff. She had samples with her, and when she measured up, she had an electronic device like a laser beam, and had it all straight in no time. Then she told me I'd put down a ten percent deposit, and the rest would be required upfront before the installation in a couple of weeks, and it went great. I had carpet installed at my home, and I liked the two guys who did the work. They were fun. I halfway worked with them, carrying things for them and getting rid of the debris, and we had a pretty good time. They were sharp, and did a really good job. The whole thing was good all the way around.

But the seller came to the house, I picked out a sample and it was installed the next day. That's the second time that's happened to me with Empire Today and it's great. We originally contacted Empire Today for LVP to replace our hardwood flooring in DR and hallway. That night after signing the contract, I realized our stairway (which was same color as DR and hallway) would not match the new flooring. Contacted salesperson to modify order. Since they could not use LVP on stairway, we opted to carpet them (along with our LR). We also requested to have hallway done in same carpet as stairs and LR, as we thought that would look the best. Salesperson said no problem to do that. He asked us to let installers lay down carpet in hallway when they came and that he would work out the refund difference of LVP versus carpet after installation. Since the installers were already scheduled, we allowed for them to install carpet in hallway, trusting we would receive our refund quickly.

When it came time to lay LVP in DR never was advised we would run into difficulties with replacing hardwood flooring with LVP. Installers were going to lay LVP down even though it would leave at least 1/2 inch gap around baseboards and door frames. This was not acceptable to us. We halted installation that day, so we could get proper resolution. Only alternative was for us to pay an additional $300.00 (above our original quote for LVP and installation fee). We had no choice since our hardwood floor had already been ripped up. This was infuriating, as we feel this should have been disclosed in original quote. Salesperson told us he used to remodel houses, so he was quite qualified on flooring (except he failed to mention this in our agreement).

So now over a month later, I have made countless text messages to salesperson for resolution. He kept telling us he would contact customer relations and get us our refund. We even sent an email to customer service (we were told they would open a service ticket to help us resolve matter). We even followed up with phone call. No one has gotten back to us, no refund has been granted. Contacted salesperson again today, only to receive a response that he had been transferred. I replied by asking whether he had just planned to transfer and disregard finalizing an order he had opened. No reply.

Called customer service again today. They had no idea why original service request went ignored. They intended to open another one and "hoped" I'd have it resolved or at least contacted in 24hrs. She said she contacted salesperson and he said he would follow up with this as well (although he told us on 3 prior conversations that he'd get it resolved).

This is just poor customer service all the way around, from receiving misquote on LVP installation flooring, installers about to leave a gap hole all over the baseboards and door frames) to not following up on carpet refund. It's not only just 1 person... it's been several. Our account has just been severely mishandled. At the present time I cannot recommend this company to anyone I know. Very disappointed.

Empire Today did my girlfriend's wood floors and the linoleum in her home before she left five years ago. That's how I first heard about them. Then, I saw the advertisement on television. My husband selected them, but I didn't like the color and I was gonna change my mind. I had a different color in the entryway and I wanted to match that. I had somebody else I was gonna go to for a second opinion. But my husband liked that color, so we just let him go and do it. It was a thing that we had a little tipped over but I was happy with them. They were very nice. The sales representative was very understanding and helpful. The installation team was great too. We were gonna have linoleum put down in two places and I didn't like it, so we had them do the wood.

The sales associate was great. The installer was very helpful and did everything. I like the way he called me and asked, "How do you want it laid down, vertical or horizontal?" I told him, "I trust your judgment." The wood floors on the bottom were hitting each other and crossing, but he didn't just leave them that way. Began with wood brought did not match what the contract specified. Took awhile to figure out the difference. Installers tried to interest me with what else they had in the truck. Then told me they would install the wood over the tile already on the floor. Had to show them contract called for removal of tile. Tile removed without protection of walls, grout and tile pieces hitting the walls. Then lead handed me the phone where I was asked to pay $100 more for taking up the tile and removal of subfloor. Lead and I agreed on direction of wood to be laid. I left to do an errand and wood was laid opposite of agreement, some of the team were showing me how unlevel the floor was by bouncing up and down on the wood. Showed me that they were using parts of cardboard boxes as shims. When I objected the team got in a fight between themselves and 1 worker left the job.

I talked with lead outside about how to use leveling compound for the floors. Then received another phone call asking for $650 for compound and extra work of taking out already laid wood. Caller wanted to negotiate $ when he found that I had no idea that the wood was laid without my knowledge. Ended up paying $550. Laid flooring in the hallway and ended up spilling toilet water over new wood when removing toilet. Broke water valve on back of toilet. Ordered pizza and laid greasy box on new floor. Workers sitting on stairs with dirty shoes and laying on floor. Had new carpeting laid the week before. Called Empire many times to complain, never got a call back. Poor professional behavior and poor install. Called sales rep as well with no follow up. Very bad experience.

    Updated review: Nov. 21, 2016

Customer service has been great. Empire Today did compensate us for the inconvenience. However, they are still advertising products they don't have in stock.

    Original Review: Nov. 3, 2016

We got Empire Today install carpet in my home because of their pricing. We thought we were getting a good deal, but we really weren't. The sales associate and the interaction was fine. Everyone I dealt with in customer service was above and beyond in their skills and ability to work with me, but I would never use Empire again because they promised me an installation date of Monday morning, and an hour before they were supposed to get there, they called that the carpet wasn't in stock. I had to pick another carpet and they promised me that that carpet would be in stock. On the first day, we had taken off work for them to be there. And so we rescheduled with our second and they called me the day before that they didn't have that carpet. We ended up with our third choice. The corporate didn't have our item in stock on three different occasions when they had promised us.

It was very unprofessional. They made it seem like our project was so big and it wasn't. We have a normal, standard-size home, had moved all of the furniture in our house, and had taken off work already. We were very inconvenienced. It wasn't the customer service. Whoever was managing the corporate and goes about making sure that they have stock on hand is doing a very poor job. We lived in disarray for over a week and were expecting the carpet, but then there was none. However, we're now forced to go with them because we've already started the process, left a deposit, and are ready to get this done.

When I spoke with the customer service representatives, I was pretty upset and frustrated with the experience. I spoke to three different people in that department and they all remained very professional. They did not promise anything that they could not deliver, except for the product. But other things that we discussed and we were talking about, they would say, "I'll look into that." They never made any false promises as far as that was concerned. But at this point, I need them to accommodate me some way financially. And they never made any false promises regarding that until they went and spoke with someone who could make that a negotiation.

I've seen the 50/50/50 advertisement on TV--fifty percent off on the installation, fifty percent off on the padding, and fifty off on the carpet. But then, I was misled by it for the simple fact that it was for Empire Today's expensive carpet and not all the carpets so that was depressing. We needed one and I really didn't wanna go to the ball of getting back on the phone and trying to find someone. I went ahead with them.

The sales associate was good. He cut me a good deal on the living room carpet because I told him that I was on SSA. He brought up some deals that he would classify me as a business and he'd give me a discount for the business, which is just a home. But he didn't give me a good deal the second time around with my bedroom because its size was like 25 by 25 and my living room was probably 35 by 40, and then the hallway. The living room cost $900 and my bedroom was $550.

The installation team did a good job in putting the carpet in the living room. They pulled up all the border on the floor so they could run the carpet but they just ran it to where the edge of the border laid so there were little gaps. When I asked them about why they didn't put the trim back down, they said that they don't deal with the trim or the threshold plate, which was a little disappointing. But I called them back because they did a nice job putting the carpet down.My bedroom has a nice carpet and they did a good job on laying it down as well as I can't see the seam. They also helped me move our big old 32-inch TV that I couldn't pick up out of the room so I was pleased with them. I'm already thinking about calling them back next year. They were pretty good and I'd recommend them.

The installers had to move a lot of furniture and did a good job of it. They earn their money. I'm just hoping this carpeting lasts longer than the first round.

We called Empire Today to get an estimate at the store. While we were there, we just got talking and they showed us the samples. We had them install wood floors in our living room and a little bit in the hallway a couple of months ago. We're happy with the sales associate and the installation team were polite and nice. We had a good experience with Empire Today and we're satisfied.

I just want to write this hoping others in the market for flooring will read before going with Empire. This may be wordy but will be worth it in the end. We originally got multiple estimates and went with Empire although they were more expensive, we liked the product, and had heard great reviews from family and friends. We had two rooms carpeted, on the day of installation a regular utility van showed up with the passenger smoking a cigarette right next to the new carpet I had bought. They will send someone to your house to collect money prior to the installers showing up. Once they have a payment in full they will install your carpet. This should have been clue number 1. Paying for a job that has even been started, let alone finished up front was a bad decision on my part. The installers worked hard but placed a very noticeable seam right in the middle of a high traffic area in the living room.

When the job was complete to them, we said this was not acceptable. We got on the phone with "Craig" the installation manager. He asked for me to send a picture which I did over the phone that day. He agreed it looked awful. He offered for the same crew that was already there to fix the problem. I told him no why would I want them to fix a job they already did poorly. While on the phone, the second worker was already in the van and actually honked to horn to get his partner's attention and leave. Craig said he would send another crew out to fix the seam. I agreed to this and set a very specific time and date. When that date rolled around I was told the new crew we requested wasn't available and the original install crew could come back, 2 hrs after the agreed on time. Here are two more major issues. They again wanted to send the same crew back and also send them 2 hours after the agreed time.

Finally, a different crew came out 2 weeks later to fix the seam. When they were done the job looked worse than it already had. When they were done I contacted "Craig" and told him, he said "Ok. It sounds like we just need to start over with new carpet." He also agreed at this point, we deserved some monetary refund as our living room furniture had been in our kitchen for 3 weeks now. I was told I would hear from Empire to schedule a new appointment. This led to "Vince" who was Craig's boss calling and asking how the fix went and if we were happy with the job. I politely told him obviously he had not talked to Craig who promised us new carpet and some refund. He told me that Craig could not make this decision and he, (Vince) would need to come inspect it himself. This took another week to get Vince to my house because they only inspect complaints on Tuesday and Thursdays.

Meanwhile, they continue to make more sales, take more money, and not finish the jobs they have started. Vince came out and agreed the seam was noticeable and that proper tools such as a power stretcher were not used. Vince also did not have tools and asked if he could borrow a tape measure from me. I politely said I could not find mine and that he should have the proper tools, not rely on his customers to supply them. Vince also agreed that the carpet needed replaced but of course this would take another few days "to push paper and have things approved." Once they were approved re-scheduling became a nightmare. After going another week without hearing from Empire I contacted customer service. Customer service told me the job had been closed and showed as finished. I explained this was far from the case.

The customer service specialist "Toneisha" helped set up another date for re-installation. We agreed on a Friday due to work schedules. As I was leaving to go to work Thursday the day before the appointment, I had a van in my driveway. I told them they were not supposed to be here until tomorrow, they argued, made me talk to their boss. I called Toneisha, left voicemails and finally two days later heard back from her. She asked if the crew had not shown up on Thursday. I told her "Yes they did show up. However we agreed on Friday." She then laughed on the phone and said, "Oops I told you one thing and wrote down something different. That's my fault." Although they had the carpet they could not come out on Friday now as planned because their schedule was too busy. AKA making more sales and installing new carpet to keep collecting more money from unsuspected client.

Once again, another date was rescheduled, that was for today. I got a phone called by Vince again who told me that a mistake had happened. Between Thursday when the carpet was in my driveway and Monday, 4 days later our carpet had been sent back on a return truck to Chicago. I basically laughed and said that does not even surprise me the way this has gone so far. Today is November 1, our initial installation happened on September 20. We still have no carpet. Getting in contact with anyone is almost impossible. Everyone I have talked to has given me the runaround. BEWARE do not use this company even if they underbid the job. We thought by paying more for a better product would be worth it. At this point we are 6 weeks into this debacle and still do not have a finished job that we paid for up-front.

We had been talking about it for a couple of years now and I'm glad we got the nasty carpet out and got something else in there. However, we thought the grout was going to blend more into it but it hasn't. It's more of a close to white and we thought it was going to be mocha color. But I never called anybody about it. That was the only negative experience we had. Nevertheless, when their salesman came out to show us the tile the first time, we picked out a color, and they came but it was not the color that we were thinking it was as it was a little bit lighter seeing it first in the picture. They couldn't start that day, Monday, but were able to get the product to come Tuesday. I like their promptness of taking care of the problem which was good.

Like when this guy put the molding along the baseboard and then he had to put one in front of that part that belongs to the stairs that comes down and meets the floor. It’s thicker than the baseboard. He did not match it so they were both even together. One was sticking out more than the other, and I didn’t like that at all.

I had first Empire sales person coming to give price estimate of 3 bedrooms oak wood flooring and was quoted for $10923.24. I signed the order form with $4000 deposit on it. Two days later, due to its high price and other issue, I contacted this sales person to switch to carpeting. Three days before the installation, I received another price quote of $7697.53 in e-mail for the same wood flooring from second Empire sales person with price difference of $3225.71!!! As it was too late to switch back to wood flooring, I stayed with carpeting instead.

As Empire Today has a lowest price guarantee slogan, after the installation, I called Empire local sales manager asking for explanation for the price difference. Yet, there is no call back. I sent an lengthy e-mail to this sales manager and cc-ed to its Satellite manager, I received no answer. This makes me think how much Empire Today can be trusted in this business world. Also, it makes think how much I have been overly charged for the projects of ceramic tiles and carpeting by this first sales person.

In this business world, no trust, no business. Empire Today management should fully realized such reality. From now on, I will tell all my friends and relatives and their friends and their relatives not to deal with Empire Today. In addition, after signing the work order, I repeatedly told the first sales person to make sure to schedule the ceramic tile project before the carpeting began. Yet, when I received the job scheduling e-mail from Empire Today, both projects were scheduled on the same day!!! This is so much that this Empire Today sales person responded its customer's needs.

Empire Today did call me today. They made an offer that was very fair to make my situation right. The woman I spoke with was very helpful and understanding, and I appreciated her kindness. Since they did take the time to listen to my complaint and make things right, I will use them again if I have flooring needs in the future. I appreciate that we were able to get this matter resolved.

    Original Review: Oct. 28, 2016

I originally had Empire Today install flooring from door to door in my downstairs and also in 2 upstairs bathrooms. Everything went smoothly, and the installers were great! After about 3 months, a few planks near my sliding door began to buckle. I phoned the company since my product is under lifetime warranty, and they came out, removed the bad planks, and replaced them. There was a tiny bit of an area that was "off" but not a big deal.

Fast forward 10 months later. I had some plumbing issues beneath my slab. My living room floor had to be removed, about 1/3 of it. I called Empire Today because I was very pleased with their original work. I wanted them to redo my living room floor and possibly my hall. The gentleman came to do the estimate which included the entire living room and hall. We did discuss that the hall may not need done, but I wouldn't know for certain until a couple days from then. He said that was fine, just to let the installer know. He also phoned the company and did tell them I "may" want the hall done, but didn't know for sure. It turned out that the hall floor did not have to be torn out, but a very small closet had been torn out. That hall closet was included in the estimate.

The day came for the installation. I let the man in and I told him the hall DID NOT need done since it hadn't been torn out. He said okay. I came back from my appointment and the hall floor was up. I asked what happened. He stated that there was water damage to the floor (which there was not) and that he had called his manager and they gave him the go ahead to tear it out. I've still not received a clear answer as to why I wasn't called. Anyways, he had to put some leveling agent in the floor because where the plumbers had to break the slab, it was no longer level. He returned the next day, after the leveling agent dried, and replaced the floor. He only replaced 1/3 of my living room and about 3/4 of the hallway. I was charged for the entire living room and hallway.

Now, I've spoken with Empire Today for two weeks, and I finally received a call back from a very rude manager today. He advised that I signed a contract stating the work was done right and to my satisfaction. However, the installer had me sign a paper stating he had been here. This was the same thing I was asked to do 10 months ago at the time of the original installation. I told this manager I wanted some of my money refunded because I was charged for work that wasn't done AND for work I did not NEED done! This manager told me it was impossible to join new flooring to old flooring. If that's the case, how did the care do the repair in my kitchen in the spring AND how was this installer supposed to do only the living room and match it to my dining room?!

How was the hallway, had it needed done, supposed to match up to my kitchen?!? He clearly lied about this. I was overcharged and have been talking for two weeks to different people trying to get some of my money back. This manager that called just heard about this today, 2 weeks later!! The gentleman who did my estimate was supposed to put the hallway as a "maybe" but failed to do so, even though we spoke in-depth about it. This manager will be to my home on Tuesday to see the job that "was impossible" to do. I'm very disappointed with the service, or lack thereof, that I've received. Once this issue is resolved, I will not be using this company, that I've paid nearly $30,000, ever again! This manager was rude and basically called me a liar without having seen the job that was done, or not done. He was very unprofessional, and I'd install my own flooring before having them in my home again! Buyer beware!

UPDATED ON 11/01/2016: I left an initial review last week and stated I would follow up. The "manager" from Empire Today visited my home today to inspect the complaint regarding the installer not installing the entire area that I was charged for and tearing out and replacing an area that I specifically stated to the installer AND the gentleman who did the estimate that I did NOT need or want done. This manager had a very poor attitude. I showed him proof, quarter round and seams, that the installer only did a portion of the room. After some back and forth he finally said that's X number of boxes. He used his phone to determine the cost and said "I'll give you back X dollars." It was about 1/5 of what I was charged even though the area was more like 1/3 of the charge!!

Before he left, he extended his arm to shake my hand, and I attempted to shake his hand, but he just kept his hand extended and moved it up and down. This was probably one of the rudest people I've ever dealt with. I've spent near $30,000 at Empire, but I will guarantee that I'll never spend another dime on their services!

And I liked the fact that I could actually have someone come in the house and show us the material versus Home Depot and Lowe's where you have to just pick up samples at the store and take it to your home. So, it was really nice having that expertise to say, "This would go well with your furniture or this would go better." The seller was really cool. I also like the texture and color of the flooring. But we scratched it a little bit and I don't know if there is a scratch-resistant stuff that we can put on. But other than that, it has absolutely met my expectations. It just scratches so easily. But my experience was pleasant overall.

I had picked out a floor for my dog room. Ordered it and they came to install. The Rep had wrote down the wrong floor, what they brought out was my second choice, but I gave the go-ahead as I still liked my second choice. After installation, the installer gave me the paperwork to sign and AFTER I signed it, he told me that the floor was soft and anything heavy would leave marks. NOT what I wanted! Turns out the rep did not disclose to me that Empire only sells the low grade vinyl flooring, not the top grade. I was contacted by CS as I was not happy and since then (this has been going on since 9-23-16) the person assigned to helping me does not return phone calls. Tells me I signed the contract, so I have to accept the floor and if I was dissatisfied I should not have signed off on it. Never mind that I was told the information AFTER I signed and not before.

Then when they offered a re-select to get a better grade floor, I will have to pay ANOTHER $1400.00 for it! On Tuesday of this week the CS rep called and the call dropped. He never even bothered to call back. The last time I had left 5 MESSAGES for him and not until I called to speak to a Supervisor to let them know that he was NOT returning my phone calls, did he finally call me back. Very frustrating to have a CHEAP FLOOR that I now have to pay for and after a MONTH have no resolution in sight, lousy Customer Service and to top it all off, today when some furniture was picked up, it gauged this new floor down to the old floor which is held up just fine! Only reason I was getting a new floor was to brighten the room up. Did NOT expect to have to deal with a company that will not back their product!

I like their product especially the stain resistance feature and was happy to know that they could install the carpeting quickly. It really does look nice and the installers did such a great job. There was never any problems. Everybody was really wonderful.

A sales representative came to my house and spent 15 minutes explaining how long the company had been around and what great customer service they had and what my husband and I received was the complete opposite! The job was supposed to be completed on Saturday and a supervisor contacted me and told me that several crew called out and the job would not be able to be completed until Monday. After explaining to him that we told the salesman that we were in a time crunch (I am 7 months pregnant and had a shower planned for the following weekend) and were promised a Saturday installation he said he would get back to me. He never did, instead a crew showed up at my house in an unmarked beat up truck and said that they were with Empire and there to complete the job.

At the end of the day the men left without completing the job and said they would be back the next morning. They never showed up instead a different crew showed up complaining that the first crew did not complete the job correctly. That crew then advised that they would not be able to complete the job. I called Empire and asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that an installation supervisor was unavailable. I then asked for any supervisor and that's when I got to a Joel at extension **. Joel stated that he was the call center floor supervisor. Joel never apologized for the customer service we received, told me there was absolutely NOTHING he could do to help, couldn't give me an address or phone number to a local Empire office that I could go to, advised that my best bet was to wait until someone got back to me and then hung up on me! Yes, he hung up the phone on me!! UNBELIEVABLE.

As of now a supervisor has yet to contact me, it has been 3 days! My house is in complete disarray and I literally was left with nails sticking up out of my floor. Empire is aware that I am 7 months pregnant having to sleep on a mattress on the floor and that I have two other children at home and the nails are a safety hazard (see pictures attached). Also, in the pictures attached you will see that one of the installation crew attempted to install the carpet on top of our ceramic tile after we paid for tile removal! There are broken pieces of tile along with the nails everywhere.

On a side note and a minor complaint compared to the ones referenced above, Empire Today also stated that they remove and replace your big furniture items such as the beds and dressers and this was not done either. Aside from the excellent job the salesman did convincing my husband and I that Empire Today was the best company to choose everything after that point has been THE WORSE!! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

I had seen Empire commercials and I am a widow and very limited in finding good people to do house projects so I thought I would make an appt for a consult. The sales rep came, went over carpeting & I purchased carpeting that evening and set up an installation date. I had to change schedules at work with someone to be available for the installation. The day before the installation at 2 pm they called to say they were canceling because of scheduling difficulties (which I do not understand as this was scheduled 6 weeks prior). It was difficult getting someone to get back to me and so I called my sales rep and asked her to call me. She called me back that evening around 9PM and said she did not know what was going on, would look into it and call me first thing in the morning with the answer. I have not heard from her since!

So the next day not hearing from her I called & canceled the order with a person answering the phone because I had left a message with the customer service manager the day before and heard nothing. The person on the phone said she would take the cancellation but that someone would be calling me in 24 hours to confirm. Next I get a call from the customer service manager stating, "I called to reschedule your installation." I said "I canceled the order this morning because I do not like how I was treated as a customer." Her reply was, "you're kidding me." I said no. About an hour later a man called me and offered to give me a nice reduction in price if I would reschedule the installation. Also, my sales rep stated that I had to remove everything from the walls, take bed frame off, empty all drawers (I had carpet laid before and never had to do this). I told the man that offered me the discount that I would let him know.

I called him back and said, "if I can have the installation next week and if you can guarantee me that it will be completed in one day I will" (with hesitation, but giving in only because I did not want to start the process all over again and with my house being torn apart). He said they would load the truck Monday morning and I would be the first person. Monday comes, no installers. I called the main number. They say "oh they are running late(?). They will be there by noon." (Now I lost a half a day of work.) I got my neighbor to come over and take my place because I have a new job. He said they arrived at 11:30. Told him that they were late because Empire told them to go to another customer's house to install tile because she was "upset".

At 3:30 pm they said they were leaving (installation not complete - living room and hallway and two closets not done) and left everything (big rolls of carpet) in the middle of my living room, could not walk through, not watch tv, anything). I then called Empire again and I do have to say there was one person that took care of me the prior week and this call that was the ONLY person that seemed sincere and truly tried to solve the issue. He said it is unacceptable that they left at 3:30. He said the rule is they must stay and finish the job. He asked me if they said why they were leaving. They said because if they started the job they couldn't finish it, and it would be a mess (??? they left a mess in my living room anyway!).

I told him that I felt I should be compensated further for lost work, inconvenience, etc. but he said he was not able to do that (which I know they can do anything they want to do). Also there were two steps going up to my attic that were to be carpeted and he told us that she did not include that in the order, but he did go ahead and put carpeting there. He also stated that I did not have to unplug the TV, take mirror off dresser, etc. He assured me they would be here the next morning (today) and they did arrive and complete the job. I am not complaining about their work because they did a nice installation and I like my carpet (so far).

I am writing this to tell you that it is the worst customer service I have ever had. No one cared at all about me except the one man. You cannot get a hold of anyone in management. They have phone agents taking care of everything, when the manager did call me once, not an "I am so sorry" but instead "you're kidding?" I tried to get information on where to send a letter of complaint and they said the only thing I could do was go on the website (are you kidding me?).

I will never, ever use Empire again and I will be sure to let everyone I know in the Pittsburgh area of my experience and how terrible a company Empire is. The disorganization, lack of compassion for the customer, not being able to contact someone in authority, just unacceptable. I am beyond angry.

He promised it would take less than 2 days, and everything would be completed before we left on a business trip. We emptied the house, moved all furniture. Installers showed up and were concerned about the fact there was no matching trim for that flooring. All the promises the salesman made about the transitions and steps matching and having nice trim were completely untrue. Cancelled the install before they got started. Spent many calls and much time trying to get customer service to issue a refund. Run far away from Empire. Find a local pro who can do what he promises.

Empire had a salesperson come out and take measurements on 10-15-16 and I chose what carpet I wanted. We set the date to have the carpet installed on 10-22-16. Empire called first thing in the morning to let me know the installer would be there within 30 minutes and he was; I thought everything was going great. The installer asked me to come out to the truck to check the carpet before he unloaded it, and when I went to look, I noticed the padding and realized that the installer never went over padding with me or allowed me to choose the padding I wanted. I asked the installer was that a good padding or one of the thinner ones, and he said it was one of the thinner ones, and that he had a much better one that was thicker and waterproof. He said if I wanted to change it, he could call and I could reschedule my appointment; I wanted to go ahead and get the carpet put down in my basement, so I just told him to go ahead and install it.

He went down to start laying the tack strips and took the measurements again, and let me know that he couldn't install it because the Empire salesperson who measured it, measured it at 27 ft and it should have been 28 ft; he took the measuring tape and showed me. He told me there was nothing he could do until the shipments came on Monday and he rescheduled with me for Monday, and said he would bring me the upgraded padding at no additional charge for my inconvenience. I was upset about it, but okay because it was just a couple of days, and they were going to upgrade my padding.

Well Monday came, which was yesterday and nobody showed up and nobody called. So, I called this morning and the earliest they can come out now is Friday. I asked them about receiving a discount for my inconvenience and they said they had to put in a ticket for someone to call me about that; I personally feel like it should have just been offered. So, hopefully someone gets back with me about the discount and hopefully they actually show up on Friday with the upgraded padding, and then I will come back and upgrade my rating, but as of this moment, I am a very dissatisfied customer.

I had carpet installed in the living room of a rental unit and decided on Empire Today for the job as it was supposed to be convenient with the whole next day delivery. When the girl came to the condo unit so that I could choose the carpeting, I quickly realized that it wasn't a next day delivery. It was only on specific things and specific styles which I understood. The big problem was that here in Chicago, high-rise buildings have lots of rules and regulations regarding the carpeting installation. The girl assured me that she would take care of everything. I gave her the management company's email and telephone number.

Four days before the carpet was set to be installed, I called my management company to make sure that they had everything. But they had no information with regard to this installation at all. I called the girl who sold me the carpet and she said that the email and telephone number that I gave her were incorrect. I asked her why she didn't call me so that we could have gotten that taken care of. She dropped the ball and it seemed a little fishy to me. We tried to get approval for the installation and I needed to get a freight elevator scheduled. It was really a disaster. The worst part about it was nobody even reached out to me to ask how they could make things right. But other than that, the guys who did the carpet installation were great.

I wanted it done before I moved in and they accommodated me. The installers took three days to install the laminate because my concrete slab was not even so they had to work on it before the installation and they didn't change the price for me. They worked until they finished and during the last night, they worked until 9:30 to get it done. They went out of their way and did a fabulous job. The laminate is easy to clean and the color is exactly what I wanted. My experience was great.

It's a shame I couldn't get a different color carpet but other than that, I saw exactly what I wanted.

Normally the installation takes two days but Empire did an excellent job in one day and that really impressed me. The installers took all the beds down, moved all the furniture and I didn't have to do anything. They're outstanding! You can't beat it. Every now and then, I stand back and I look at my carpet and I am so pleased. After I pay for this, I'm going to have the basement redone.

When I bought my carpet I was told a group of 4-5 people would show up to do the work. I was also told they would be using an industrial stretcher and not a knee kicker to stretch the carpet. When the crew showed up it was only 2 people and yes they were using knee kickers. It took them 12 hours to complete my carpet install and that is not normal. When I called the 3 people that I talked to treated me like I didn't deserve to have a group of people at my house and told me I could have rescheduled. Why would I reschedule when I was promised what I was and they didn't hold up their end of the bargain but of course they wanted their money in full at the end. They had no bad feelings of what they did to me and made me stay there for 12 hours while the work was being performed. They treated me like what I was telling them was something I requested and not what I was told by the guy that sold me the carpet.

When I finally got ahold of the guy that sold me the carpet he told me once again that there should have been more people sent out and the stretcher should have been used. He then told me that he would dig into the issue and call me back and now it has been 5 days and still no call back. All they want is you to sign the contract and then don't hold up their end of the bargain. I would never recommend anyone to use this company after the way I was treated.

While looking around for flooring, I was told that Empire Today was cheaper. I had them do the laminate flooring in the living room and carpeting in two bedrooms. When the salesman came, he told me it was going to cost me $1,600 because they had a promotion. When I asked how much it will be in a four-year payment, he said it was going to be around $36-$39. I signed the paper because I took his word like a dummy but I should have looked at his numbers. I wound up paying $3,000 for the whole thing and I'm pissed about that. I could have gotten what Empire did for me for $1,900 at Lowe's. The salesman wanted to make his commission and he didn't care how he made it. I'm a veteran and I live on a fixed income.

As far as the installation, the guy who installed the flooring was great. I love the flooring. However, getting customer service from Empire sucks. Since my floor wasn't finished, their guys had to come back a second time and I kept calling them. They wanted to wait two weeks but I refused and they came out. I had to have this old carpet removed when I moved in here and I needed something as soon as I could get it and Empire Today came through with high-quality. I worked with Home Depot and their carpets were more expensive. I had a certain budget that I wanted and Empire was able to come very close to it. Plus I asked for the experience of the two fellows that came out to help put it in. That means a lot to me that they know what they're doing so and that made it even more of a decision to take Empire. I have darker wall paneling so I got the rose color carpet which is brown, tan, and then sometimes when the sun hits it, it comes up a little red and I liked that. But, I would've liked to have something a little bit softer 'cause it's a hard fabric and when I kneel on this carpet, I have to get up within five minutes.

The salesperson came out from Modesto and he is the most important part of the business 'cause he's the one that's introducing the product and telling me what type of carpet it is and all the reasons why, the guarantees of it and the length of the warranties, and all that is vital to me as a customer. So, without the salesperson, there's no way Empire could have any of these jobs completed. All in all, I was satisfied with their customer service and they were a joy to be around as well. I would definitely turn them on to somebody else.

We begin in May 2016 to get carpet and hardwood flooring installed by Empire. Carpet installation went as expected, good job. Hardwood flooring is still a problem, now it is October, 2016. To begin with their sales Dept sold us product that was no longer in stock. We waited about 3 weeks without any communication from Empire unless we initiated the calls.

Finally decided to change hardwood flooring products to a product that was in stock.. Product was ordered but not enough to finish the contracted job. Waited another week, installers came without the proper tools to do the job and unable to communicate. Job finally finished, about 3 weeks later several places in the flooring began to "creak" as if it was loose.

Called Empire, waited and waited, finally found what Empire calls their "Resolution" team. Thought at that point we may get some results, what a joke! Empire sent out another group of so called repaired workers, could not communicate, removed about 1/3 of the hardwood flooring, could not find any problems with the sub flooring even though they found a place they should be leveled, only repair that area at my insistence. This repair groups determination was the hardwood flooring was bad and needed to be replaced.

Call Tommy with the so called "Resolution" Dept. 95%of all the communication had to be initiated from me. Tommy promised me that he would not send out a team that could not communicate for the new flooring install. New flooring was ordered, crew shows up, barely able to communicate, new flooring installed, crew brought the wrong type transition wood and 1/4 round, broke a piece of my kitchen tile (see photo) while removing the old transition wood, rescheduled the completion of the job to be done on Sat morning 9 am, no call until 11am. Job rescheduled for Monday, Oct 17, 2016 at 9 am. It is now 10am, no crew, no call. Photos attached will show what I as the homeowner had to do to get the transition wood to stay in place until the adherent dried.

I had so many issues with Empire Today that I think even 1 Star is too much for them!!! Sales Rep Jeff ** mislead me in everything he could and said everything he could to close the deal, from pricing to guarantees to even saying they would match my quotes. He stated that he has been working for them for a long time and yet did not even know the product correctly and sold me incorrect product that then after signing the contract had to come back and we had to change the product we had like because of his lack of knowledge to what he was selling. There is too much to mention to even a Retention agent named Joanna who promised me the ski and moon to not cancel and then every time I would call she would be off and were unable to contact her.

From a 3 day install to a 7 day install due to lack of knowledge of communication as to how much it really takes to complete the jobs, lost time of my family weekend and work due to installers not being able to finish. Installers tried their best but that does not take away the lack of professionalism Empire today had. I would NOT recommend Empire Today at all to anyone, and to be honest with you, would not ever make business with them ever again! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY.

Empire Today installed the carpets on my living room. The gentlemen who installed them were really nice and worked well. The carpet has the same quality compared to other brands, but their costs were a couple of hundred dollars less. I really like the way it looks and overall, it was a really good experience. I would use them and recommend them in the future. In fact, I have an appointment with them again to have another room carpeted.

The only thing not done right was when they did the installation, they also installed it in our bedroom closet. So, they had to take off the closet door and now it’s not on properly. It’s not on the track.

Sales made promises they didn't keep. Most important Sales Complaint: Empire would install floor in the entire first floor with no thresholds. There are eight thresholds after installation. Installation: Took extra day, never advised of thresholds before laying them, yet we were home all day to approve extra costs. After Care: Installed 1/2016, began lifting in two rooms. Empire came back, fixed flooring (by that time in several places). When we were phoned to see how the repairs went, I advised rep, the flooring was already coming up in other places. I told her I would call back to fix again. I called, as was lifted and lifting in other rooms. (4 of 6 rooms showed lifted flooring). I sent pictures. I was advised person would come to check out floor, see if qualifies for replacement. Moisture showed .02 (no problem there). Did you know you can't wash laminate floor? It's horrible!!

So, floors showed kept bone dry, representative took photos and spoke, which I videoed in case of future lawsuit. Received call that flooring was discontinued, that Empire was going back to manufacturer to request replacement. We would hear back in a week (Which we have not heard anything to this date). Sales lied. If we would have had full disclosure we would not have decided on the spot to buy new flooring from Empire. Sales rep lied. Cannot wash laminate floors (CRAZY). Not honoring warranty without question, although there is no doubt we did not misuse the floor. Moisture was measured with scientific equipment at .02. Empire's expert advised that is DRY. NO PROBLEM.

Flooring discontinued. Not following up in timely manner, nor on the schedule they advised. Flooring installed in January is now coming up in a brand new room. Absolutely will file suit if we get jammed by using their service. Lots of photos to choose from (I've made entire book of emails/notes/photos). Paid over $11,000. Floor looks horrible.

I had measured the carpet prior to the Empire guy measuring it, and he said, "We have to have this excess because it might not fit, otherwise." So, I bought that. In reality, I ended up with a lot of extra carpets. But other than that, everything was fine. The installer did fine work. He was here when I needed him. So, I was pleased with the installation.

We purchased carpet from Empire Today a year ago. We had a good experience with the salesman and the installers. However, I immediately noticed pieces of the carpet pulling out and a few months later, it started looking really matted. I had the carpet professionally cleaned because it was in the contract it would have to be clean every 12 to 18 months. It didn't look any different than before I had it cleaned. I called Empire and they sent out the installers who said they had seen this before and it was a defect in the carpet and would need to be replaced and would let the office know.

I waited for a couple of weeks before calling back only to find my case had been closed. They said they would send an inspector out and the inspector concluded it was an issue with the carpet cleaning. I called back and talked to someone at the corporate office who said it was a 3rd party inspection and there was nothing they could do. I find it really hard to believe the issue was caused by having it cleaned when it looked matted before I had it cleaned. So now we are stuck with carpet that looks horrible and I am so frustrated and disappointed with Empire and Shaw.

So, the guys came in with half of the floor ripped out around the toilet, and they had to replace the plyscore on the underlay. And they did a great job. The ceramic flooring is easy to clean. Ceramic is better in a bathroom area because of the moisture. I had vinyl there before and over the course of the years, it wore out and the floor started to sag around the toilet area. I was very happy with the two guys that came here. I thought they were gonna have a harder time. But they were quick, efficient and they knew what they were doing. They also did the stairs for my daughter and my son-in-law. And they did a wonderful job there.

I purchased a carpet from Empire that was installed in a house that I manage. The tenants love it and they’re very happy with it. Empire was the first I called because I saw a commercial that they were offering a discount. The whole time I was dealing with them, I had their slogan in my mind. However, I did not enjoy my conversations with the salesperson. The salesperson did meet at the house and dealt with my tenant directly and I spoke with him over the phone. But he wasn’t helpful, nor informative, nor courteous. That was a turnoff but he worked with me on the price, which I enjoyed. And then, I had some issues.

First of all, they didn’t install on the day that the salesperson said he would install. We had three appointments to install and they installed several days later. Then the installers showed up and said the carpet that was already there was in a very poor condition and they insisted the tenant give them $400 in order to pull the carpet, to which the tenant said, “No.” There was a lot of runarounds and back-and-forth with the office. I could never reach the person that I meant to talk to every time I called. An operator consistently said, “I’ll leave a message and they’ll call you back.” Then they would call me back in one or two days. So, it’s a very long process.

We had a laminate floor installed on August 5 2016 and a week later carpet was also installed by Empire Today. When the carpet was installed a transition piece for our laminate floor was not put back securely as originally installed by the empire laminate floor installer. We were instructed to contact Empire for warranty repair to solve this issue. I called and spoke to a customer service representative and then an installation coordinator to schedule an appointment. I scheduled an appointment for Saturday September 10, 2016. We waited all day and no one showed up at our home, no phone call to let us know if this was not going to happen. I called and spoke to them and they told me they were sorry and we rescheduled for Monday September 26th 2016. We waited again and another no show on this date as well, again no phone call from them.

I called a third time and again they expressed their apologies and assured me that this was a priority and scheduled a third appointment for Saturday October 1, 2016. Again we waited all day and no one showed up at our home. At this point I see no reason to contact them again, apparently they are refusing to honor their warranty by not coming to do any repair work. After filing a complaint with the BBB on October 3, 2016 Empire contacted me on October 5, 2016 and we discussed a form of resolution. This involved sending a repair person on October 7, 2016 to do the repair and compensating me $300. So as usual the repairman never showed up, never called and I have not seen any of the compensation I was promised. I asked for my entire purchase price back and have not heard from them. They will not return my calls.

I previously had several hits and misses with local vendors, and this time I went with Empire. I got two different things from them. One is a vinyl flooring for a kitchen / dining room and the other one is a carpeting for the living room, bedrooms, and hallway. These products have already been installed. The quality of the materials that I received was good. Furthermore, I went with a national brand company that's a little bit better priced, compared to other brands. Aside from the quality, I liked that there's a good selection. I already had the style and colors in mind.

The carpet I got was what I expected. But the linoleum came loose within a few days. There were bubbles up in it at the lower end and a seam came apart. It wasn't installed correctly. After I contacted Empire about the issue, the contractor they sent out was supposed to come and fix it. The contractor scheduled the repair five times, but they never showed up each time, and I was never contacted that they weren't going to come. I hired a person to be there and wait for them, and it cost me four hours, at $15 an hour, each time. It was pretty bad home service with the linoleum. It took Empire about six weeks to fix it.Empire finally got somebody to show up and repair the linoleum. Since then, they have discontinued contracting with that company.

I've had a bad experience with Empire regarding communication. They need to work on their communication so that I can contact the people who will be working with me and they'll respond. I wasn't happy with people not being responsible, not showing up when they're supposed to, and not doing the right work. Also Empire still owes me money as reimbursement for several things, and I'm getting no response from the company. They were supposed to put down new vinyl flooring, and then the Empire guy decided that this wasn't needed. But they had already charged me for a new one, and they have not refunded me for that yet. In addition, they were supposed to pick up the tiles that were there previously. I had replaced the flooring, so they didn't have to do that, but I have not been reimbursed for the tile cleanup. I'm still going to be working with Empire and, hopefully, these issues will be resolved satisfactorily.

Updated on 10/21/2016: I previously wrote a review, and I received a email from ConsumerAffairs stating "that Empire said everything was resolved." This is untrue. I had a floor installed in August 2015 I started to see problems with spaces in the floor. I called customer service in February and had them come and look at the floor. They came and said the spaces in the floor will from the light-colored wood that I chose and then I would always have this problem. They did replace however 5 boards. The installer that they said I really should get a different color floor but I would be charged for it because this is going to constantly happen. I called customer service the following day and explain my situation. The guy that I spoke to said that "that was wrong. It's not the color of the floor." If I have any more problems please call them. After a few months have gone by the floor is getting worse. Meanwhile I had been in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy so I couldn't call any sooner to get somebody back here.

I called 2 weeks ago and told them what was going on. They sent another installer here last weekend. He looked at the floor and said "It's not you. It's the floor. They no longer carry this for it's discontinued." He called his supervisor and she advised me that they do not carry the floor anymore and I was to call in the morning to have somebody come and help me pick out a new floor. I called the next morning and spoke to customer service. I was at the store was discontinued because it had formaldehyde in it and it did not meet their standards. He said he would send me out the report which I never received especially that I was diagnosed with cancer I do not want any formaldehyde in my house. We schedule the talk to come out tonight October 11th 2016. My window is between 5 and 9. I advise them to "Please call 1 hour before arrival so I could leave work and be home in time."

I called customer service this morning to make sure they were still coming in to make sure that they were going to call me an hour before they were coming. Verified my address and phone number, was given a verbal yes that they were still coming. I arrived home at 6 o'clock with still no phone call from them. I tried calling customer service and they were closed. It is now 9:10 p.m. No call and no show. I am beyond aggravated. I want this floor out of my house, I want a new floor put down with no formaldehyde, and I want to be compensated. I spent a lot of money on the floor and was never told that there was any formaldehyde in this product. If they discontinue this floor in February why what customers that purchased this floor notified that they had problems with this product and that if we had any issues we should contact them and they would take care of it. I do not understand the reason behind any of this.

Their customer service is terrible. When I leave messages the calls do not get returned. I have to keep calling. Once in a blue moon somebody will call me back. This company needs to do the right thing for me it's not. I will be contacting a lawyer. This is very unfair. I purposely went with Empire Carpet because they did not contain any formaldehyde in their product as I was told. I am hoping to contact them again tomorrow and give them a piece of my mind. I am very frustrated and annoyed I will never deal with them again once this is over.

UPDATED ON 10/13/2016: I am writing in regards to a post that I posted last night. I called this morning because the installer did not show up last night as scheduled. Angelica from corporate called me to apologize and said that she would have somebody out tonight between 6 and 9 they would call me an hour before arrival. Well at 8:06 I got a call from the installer he said he was running very behind and he would not make it to my house tonight and that he would put a call in tomorrow morning and let them know that I had to be rescheduled.

I am very unhappy this is the second time somebody did not show. At this point I just want my money back. I will have somebody else come and without the floor and put a new one down. Very bad customer service. I am aggravated and very disappointed I spent a lot of money on this floor. The problem is still not solved. I will be calling them again tomorrow. I did leave a message the corporate explaining the situation again tonight.

I own a rental home and contracted with Empire Today to have the carpet installed on June 1st. The night before on May 31st Empire emailed me with a confirmation time. I had requested an early installation time for my new tenants were to move in in the afternoon. No installers showed up the next day, Empire told us we had cancelled the appointment. They scheduled a new appointment 3 days later. I found out that when an independent Empire dealer runs late they just cancel the order and blame the customer for the cancellation. I lost 3 days rent and Empire lost tens of potential customers.

The past few years, I’ve gotten carpeting and tiles. I liked what I saw at Empire Today, but had problems with the outdoor carpeting this year. It’s a year old and it came very stained. I called them and they said it was a water stain. I told them to bring someone in to see the stain and they sent an inspector out who said it wasn't a water stain. He said that whoever installed it put too much of the glue under the carpet and it came through on top. Empire didn’t fix anything. They told me that the warranty had worn off and the carpet had to be replaced. I told them I was not going to replace it and to get someone to come in, clean it and see if they could get the horrible stain out. This was one bad experience and they should’ve given me a discount. But they wouldn't so I told them to just forget it.

My experience with Empire Today has been the worse. Had problems with this company since day one, they did a terrible job with installation. Have called the company numerous times, get the run around all the time from one person to the other and never a solution. A week ago walking in my kitchen with socks on. A piece of the wood got stuck to my sock and ripped off leaving a big spot missing in the floor. Called company and was told my warranty was over 1 week ago. Therefore will be a $375.00 to fix the floor.

We wanted a 12mm floor, carpet removed, furniture moved, and installed. The floor included padding and quarter round. The standard stuff nothing special. The quote was $17,200!!! We stopped talking and asked her to leave. No point in talking about this. It was over budget. Not sure how they could get to $6000. I told her "We have quotes from your same company from march 2015 for $5200." Not sure how in a year we got from $5200 to $17,200??? Every quote we have received is around $4800 to 6200. Not sure why this company thinks $17,000 is acceptable. SCAM!!!

I asked the man from Empire Today that came originally about the half-price situation as advertised on TV, and the only thing he ever told me is that he will give me every discount he can. I went ahead and gave him my credit card and he charged $200. There was an additional $700 and odd dollars that had to be paid. Then, Empire sent a crew in there. First of all, they couldn't speak English and they demanded the payment before they started to work. I'm 85 years old, and have never paid in advance before the work is done, but they insisted. I'm paralyzed in a care home and had to make a trip home to check this work out. And of course, my wife was there and they wouldn't start to work until they got the payment. I had already been about three weeks waiting to get the work done. They even promised to get it done one day and it was canceled for some ungodly reason. Then, they rescheduled me a couple of weeks down the line.

I think Empire is running a little bit of a con game. Their price was never quoted for what I'm paying for the carpet per yard. The company never satisfied me on anything on the half-price deal because the price I paid for a hallway and a living room which was all there was and there was no furniture but the bed to be moved over. Furthermore, how I wished to hell that Empire would get someone that spoke English to some degree. I know there are a lot of foreigners here. Also, I've served in many foreign countries and dealt with many foreign languages, but my problem is I don't speak them. I had a roof job done on the house and had to run into the same thing - non-English speaking people going to work, which I've got no problem with that, but there should be at least one person that could speak English.

I was satisfied with the work after it was finished, but for the life of me, I still can't figure out why they wanted the payment before they'd do the work. I had already made a down payment on the project. I don't think I'd ever do any business with this outfit again. If I hadn't been paralyzed, I'd have kicked the crew out of the house and sued the company because my experience was ridiculous.

Two neighbors recommended Empire and since we’ve already done flooring on the main level of my whole home, Empire did pretty much the whole upper level. The entire upstairs and the staircase, four bedrooms, the hallway, all of the closets, and staircase have been installed with new hardwood flooring. So far, I like the flooring's color and design. Although we had a little problem and they were back out here the other day. They didn't tell me that they don’t make a nail putty yet for the wood that I chose. It’s a lot of an eyesore that the putty is a different color from the wood considering my floor is over $9,000. I don’t like that. That’s quite annoying to me since I didn’t know that in the beginning. Had I known that, I would have picked a different wood color. I would still recommend them but I’d tell them about my experience so that they could make an informed choice.

Empire Today sucks. They were supposed to install carpeting on two and a half rooms in two different trips because we have so much junk. The guys do one room and the other room the following week. We paid $1,200 which is more than what we're supposed to because the job was $900. However, they didn't want to do it unless I gave them the money, so I told them that I'll pay when they did their job. I'm not paying for a job that's gonna be done in one or two weeks later.

They gave me a hard time and they lost so much time talking to the company back and forth. I ended up talking to some big shot from the main office who cannot make a decision. It took me an hour and fifty minutes on the phone and eventually they were able to do it the way we agreed it done. We had something done by them last year and had an argument with their salesman because of something that he promised but later denied. Then later on, he kept calling me because I mentioned that we had two rooms on the third floor that needed to be done, but if he'd come, I'd throw him out. When you’re in business, you represent the company. If you can’t represent the company, don’t be a salesman. You’re the first people making the deal, so you should do what you promise to do.

We saw an advertisement on tv for half price flooring and installation on select floors. Empire Today states that you get a FREE in home estimate guaranteed for 30 days with NO HIDDEN FEES. We contacted them and scheduled our estimate and told vinyl sheet was included on the half off sale. We were given an estimate for vinyl sheet flooring in our basement of just under 300 square feet. The sales rep was friendly at first. The price was well over $5000 for certain floors and almost $4000 for the vinyl sheet we wanted, which WAS NOT HALF OFF. We were told about various payment options. We stated that we weren't going to sign anything yet, but wanted to talk about it and compare prices.

He said the floor was top of the line, but didn't tell us what the brand or maker of the floor was to compare it with other companies. Nor were we told how the price was broken. We were then told he could not guarantee our estimate after he left if we did not pay a refundable 10% discount. He offered to drop the price to $2,200 if we signed today. Not going to happen. When we wouldn't sign, he seemed very agitated.

I'm sorry, their website says 30 day guaranteed FREE Estimate with NO hidden fees. That was definitely not the case. We will not use Empire Today as we feel it was deceitful, false advertising, and we cannot trust them to not hit us with additional fees from "issues that arise during install" if they can't give us what was advertised for their quotes.

After hearing about Empire Today on television commercials for YEARS I thought I would give them a try to get new carpet for our home. The online scheduling process worked great and even sent me an e-mail confirmation of my meeting. I took off from work to meet them between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm for my initial sales meeting. Around 2:00 pm on the day of my scheduled appointment I was contacted by someone from Empire (not given a name) and I was advised my sales representative was running late, but he would head my way around 2:30 pm. I agreed to wait.

About an hour later (3:30 pm) I was called again by a different person from Empire who asked me, "Did someone ever call you to reschedule your appointment?" I explained that I had not heard my appointment had been cancelled today and expressed a bit of frustration about not being notified, especially after taking a day off from work to meet with the sales representative. As a consumer I felt pretty helpless about this situation since I had no way to contact my sales representative and the Empire person on the phone could not explain when (or if) anyone would ever come to my home. The call ended with me being told I would not have an appointment with anyone from Empire Today, today.

I am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with the way I was treated by Empire Today. Even though I received an e-mail stating I have an appointment from Empire, there is an apparent lack of internal communication and accountability which was evidenced by the cancellation of my sales meeting without any contact with me beforehand. I'll certainly think differently about the Empire brand whenever I see the commercials on television now and I plan to share this story with the folks in my community, friends, and family. I'd like to consider giving Empire Today another chance because of all the positive reviews but I never found out exactly why no one came to meet with me in the first place. For now it's pretty clear that Empire doesn't need our business in the DC/MD/VA area so we'll have to consider other options.

I had Empire Today do the carpeting in my basement two years ago but I had a water leak and it was destroyed. So I had them install a new one, and I like that it is soft and sturdy at the same time. However, the installation process was a bit difficult because the first time around, the person who came to install the carpet had not been given the correct amount of carpet. What happened was they went back on their own because they did not have enough carpet and the particular one that I chose first was not available. Then they had to come back again to get another one.

If somebody's done a measurement for installation, I would expect Empire to put in the right amount of carpet. Then apparently, it had not been cut in the correct way for the installer, because the installers are independent people who just go pick up whatever is given to them from some warehouse. I think it is better if they have a better handle on what the order is. I stayed home from work, then some guy come says, "I cannot install your carpet," and goes away. Now I have to reschedule again to have somebody else come in. The second time around, they came in, then everything went very smooth. Overall, I am happy with my experience with Empire Today.

We had carpet installed in our home back in 2010 from Empire Today and my most recent business with them is the 500 square-foot tile floor. There was a lot of errors during the first installation so they had to reinstall it. After that, some things got better, but now we have additional things surfacing. I've been working with them on and off for about a month and a half. They kept saying they'll keep reinstalling or fixing it until it's right but I feel that they should have gotten it right after two full installations. We're pulling a bunch of documentation now so we can move forward with them with what we want.

When we called them, it was for a carpet and we had no intention of tiling. We talked with the salesman about our home and what we wanted to do. Then he mentioned that what if he can get it to our price range, to which I told him that I'd definitely entertain it. If the tiles were installed properly, it would be very beautiful to our home. We had laminate prior to that and have always wanted a tiled floor for durability and strength.

The installer was very nice and pleasant when he was here. However, he told us that this was the first time ever he had tiled with a 6x24 tile and really did not know what he was doing, which was very surprising to us because after we had several installation issues in the beginning, Empire Today had told us that they were sending out their number one installation guy.

We purchased a carpet and tile at the same time. At that point in time, we paid for everything all up front at the sale on our credit card. When the original tile was scheduled to be installed, they came out and it was a 500-square foot job. It was a kitchen, bathroom, hallway foyer and then entryways. It was entire downstairs living space which is a very large area.

When the sales guy was out, we let him remove a plank to look at the floorboard. So, he knew there was no cement sheet under and that it was wooden flooring. He said they used a product called Ditra that they put down which is like a barrier. Then, the original installer came out and tore up all the laminate flooring. He made some comments that our sub-flooring was not correct and that he couldn't install the floor because there may be some floor joist issues. The installation manager then called me and was very apologetic but there was nothing they could point in time. We had to have the floor joist issue fixed. So, all in a day, we had a contractor come out and look at the floor joist. He said that there was nothing wrong, no cracks, and what the original installer felt was normal floor bounce because we have a standard plywood sub-floor down. The contractor said Dura-Rock was normally put down underneath the tile.

I called back the installation manager and told him what we'd found. He then said that there's another issue. It would create too much of a leveling issue at the six entrance ways that come in the different areas. I said at that point that we'd probably have to look at another product. He said that if we could get the sales guy back out that same day, they would be able to install an alternate product like LVP the next day. We let the sales guy come into the house again at 10:00 at night and he sold us an LVP to be installed the next day as per our contract.

Next day came around and no one showed up at 10:00 so I called and left the installation manager a message. He called back at about 2:00 and told me that he hadn't gotten it ordered until just a few moments ago. So, it couldn't get installed that day like it was supposed to but he made arrangements for Wednesday. Then he called me back later that day on Tuesday and said he was sending a new installer that was supposed to be his top guy.

The new installer came out and brought the vinyl with him. The tile the original guy brought in was still at our house and said he was gonna put down the Dura-Rock which we were happy with. But Brian, the original installer, had told us that he was giving us a big perk for our disadvantages by doing the Dura-Rock installation and that it was purchased for free. The new installer then told us that Ditra is four times as expensive as the Dura-Rock. I wasn't very happy with having it relayed to me that way because it made me feel stupid, like, I was getting something and really wasn't though it's sales strategy which I understand.

But he came out and got it done in about three days. Then when we had a general contractor come in as we had a big flooding issue in our upstairs bathroom, he said that the floor is very uneven but beautiful. I told him we just had it done and he said that they were wondering why it's very uneven. Then we noticed grout started to crumble and crack not just in one area but throughout the job. Then we found a couple of areas throughout which were never even grouted. It was like two tiles together. So we took a bunch of pictures and sent them to Andrea over at customer service. They replied and said to mark the tiles. Then the installer came out and fixed the 37 tiles with issues. Then as a couple more days went on, the total ended up being 92 plus 37.

We told Andrea that at that point in time we thought it needed to be redone. They agreed and the same installer came back out and tore the old tiles out of the floor. What that did is the Dura-Rock below it got pulled apart. They had to take the thin set mortar and had to re-level the floor because now the Dura-Rock was all crumbled from pulling the tiles up. When they did that, it worked better.

But there's still areas where it's severely uneven. When the installer had to put the extra layers over the Dura-Rock to level it, this increased the height of the floor. So, now we have very bad transition issues from room to room, in four of our six entrance ways. We had to use the ugly transitioners to move in. Even in our laundry room, he couldn't even put a transitioner in because it's so high of a difference now.

I have a lot of concern because the original installer that came out said he wouldn't do it because he didn't feel our sub-floor was correct. Then the second guy that they sent out said that he can do it, which if he can do, then I just expected it to be done correctly. We were ready. We had already signed the purchase order for the LVP. We said we won't do the tile because the goal for it was whatever that was down there to be done and to be done right.

The carpet we installed in 2010 was absolutely phenomenal. I absolutely loved it. Empire Today tried to make us happy because they know we really wanted tile but sending an installer that's never done it before on a 500-square foot job wasn't the right thing. When he came back to re-install, he told us that he's never done it before though he's phenomenally nice and I really like him as a person. Now we'll keep an eye on everything and document it. Our biggest thing now is the total job for this was right around the $8,000 mark. Another thing that got me was right after the initial install which didn't go well, we got this call out of the blue from a collection person saying that we owed $3,000 or $4,037. The person was not very nice to me.

I told her our floor was not even installed yet. She said we signed a contract saying we would pay for it upfront. I told her that we did. What had happened was they credited us when it went to an LVP order. I told Andrea that time that after the bad installation, I hope they'd understand that I would not be paying the balance until it was done. They had half and we'd pay the other half when it's done to specifications. She was fine with that, but then it couldn't have been two minutes past and the collection person called me again.

I told them that I was a previous customer of the company. My carpet then was paid for up front and that I am 100% happy with that but I needed to make sure that our floor was right before I pay the balance. I also said that they can call me every day but I'm gonna give them the same response. That's where we're at. I had left Andrea a voice message and know she was out of the office the day before yesterday but she was very good about calling back. We'll go from there and see what happens. Everything was perfect with the two installations we've done except for this recent one with Empire Today.

However, I wish they had told me that it would be so messy. It was very bad. But I love them because they did a good job. They are good people, and I would recommend them.

We ordered flooring to be installed on Thursday 9/29 and the installers told us our floor was not level enough for the product. We then ordered new product that would work with our floor. The installers were supposed to return on Friday 9/30 but there was a no call/no show. When I called they stated they were at another job and would not make it. We then rescheduled for Tuesday 10/4 but again no call / no show. When I called this time I was told our appointment was changed to 10/30 which is a Sunday and makes no sense. I had to take off work twice to wait for the flooring to be put in and if we do decide to stay with Empire we will have cement flooring until completed. Very displeased with the lack of communication. My wife and I came to the conclusion that by pushing the dates back enough, Empire is hoping we will cancel but actually we just want our flooring done as we were told numerous times.

Firstly, reviews of products or services are incredibly influential when it comes to choosing a supplier/company. When my wife and I reviewed this company, we were amazed at the many great reviews to be said by the overall company as a whole. Not to mention the longevity and expertise this company emits on their website, one would believe they have it all together. However, that is a false statement at best.

Our sales rep Amanda came out within a weeks time and gave us option after option that fit best for our family. We currently have a newborn that is in the beginning stages of crawling and wanted carpet put in to accommodate this transition. Once we found the perfect line of carpet as well as some new vinyl flooring for our bathroom, Amanda gave us the price and had the sell - could not have asked for a more smoother transaction than that morning. Then everything went downhill from there. Empire Today emailed me with the confirmation of the date they would be out to install everything, which for sake of explanation was a 2 week turn on the product. Fairly quick for a new install, so we were pleased with that date.

The day before the install took place I receive a call from the service center at Empire Today stating that they had one individual that was qualified to do both installs for the vinyl and carpet. They went on to say that this particular individual had been overbooked and that we would have to re-schedule. Mind you, we have a newborn, so scheduling is everything now and we had planned our entire weekend on this service. Disappointed, yet in understanding, I respectively re-scheduled for the following week and was assured that two teams would be present now since that one individual gets overbooked so frequently. Another week rolls around and I get an email confirmation the day before install again stating the day of install would be that week. I even got a call to confirm that this would happen and was assured via phone that two teams would come and install my carpet and vinyl flooring.

The morning of install comes and at 8:17 a.m. I get a call from the service center stating that the vinyl flooring team would be at my location later that day, but that we would have to reschedule the carpet - as there was no one available to install. SERIOUSLY!!! After you have already assured my family this service, you rescheduled us once, but then try to reschedule a SECOND time the following week??! That is absurd and highly unprofessional!! Needless to say, we completely cancelled this service and walked away from this company for good. I encourage the reader to think twice before committing to this company as a solution for your flooring needs.

When the salesman came out I told him I wanted furniture, demolition and installation. He looked around and said since I have heavy furniture and the tile we had would be hard to remove he would have to charge more. I agreed but didn't get an itemize quote - just a total price. When the demo crew came out they found we had asbestos, not Empire's fault. So we had a moving company move the furniture out and an asbestos company remove the flooring, so all the installers needed to do was install the flooring. When I talked to my salesman he said he will look into it. He came back with a discount they would give me. In talking to the tech that removed just the flooring it took 4 man days.

I went back to my salesman and basically said you have paid call the 800 number. I called and each time I talk to a tech they told me someone would get back with me within 48 hours. They didn't. I did get calls from Empire for other reasons. I was told by the person they would take personal charge of it and get back with me within 48 hours - it never happened. I finally got a person that did follow up and told me Empire has no idea of what everything cost because they sell by the square feet so the best they could do is give me another $250 and basically don't call again. Bottom line I got charged for service that they did not provide. I have worked with Accounting long enough to know that know to the penny how much every costs.

The carpeting from Empire Today that we had put in the basement was fine but the flooring they put in the kitchen was not the proper one. It started pulling up and peeling apart and we kept calling them to come fix it. It got to the point where it had to have the asbestos test done for the Clean Air act, which was weird as we had already had them in there to do the work. They ripped and rolled it up and threw it out the door in three minutes, so I could tell the flooring wasn't even properly put down. Then they came and did the new flooring which we were really happy with.

However, Danielle, the rep that works there, was not very friendly. They still charged us a $1,000 for the original which was horrible because it was not up to par at all. I disputed the charge before because the flooring wasn't done properly and Wells Fargo credited my account. However, the money was taken back because Danielle said that the flooring was put down properly. But even the men that came and took it off said that it wasn't put down properly and I can't use that flooring in the house. I feel like it was a highway robbery. She also said I had to pay $1,500 more but it's linoleum flooring that looks like hardwood which isn't worth that amount. Even more so, she wouldn't let me talk to a supervisor. My only recourse is to call Wells Fargo and tell them I won't pay that as the initial flooring didn't work out at all.

I liked that he listened to what I wanted rather than tried to just pitch me on anything. But I disliked that when I came home after it had been installed, the installers had left my door off the hinges and left some tools in the house. It looks like they were coming back later to finish. I called and told that to the customer service line. The guys came back for their tools and they were apologetic. It’s easy and quick and the prices are reasonable. I used Empire Today in New Jersey and had a wonderful experience, I can't say the same in Georgia. I had carpet installed with waterproof padding underneath. They stapled this to my hardwood floors, which I want to preserve for the future. They used 1/2 inch staples in my 3/4 inch solid oak hardwood floors, I don't see how my floors are not ruined now. Empire Today said my floors are fine. The installers did not tape over the seams in the padding. The reasoning was because the seams were so close together they didn't need to.

I talked to a few carpet installers and did some research online, numerous sites, which said for waterproof padding glue it to the floor and use waterproof tape over the seams especially near the wall, because if any water gets under the padding it doesn't dry and causes mold. The water also can't be soaked up with a shampooer due to the coating on it. The worst thing you can do is to staple the padding creating tons of tiny holes for water to find even with tape over it!

After over a week of calling 3-5 times a day and being transferred to associates that promise to call back with a solution and never did, I finally talked to someone who was willing to help, she told me they would tape over the seams, but gluing it down would cost extra. I'm already paying a lot of money for a job done wrong! I asked her, "If the floors get mold, is Empire Today responsible?" She told me, "No." I said her I am bringing this to your attention, I don't see how that is my problem. I have a son with asthma, he doesn't need anymore breathing problems. I want the job done 100% correct or I want money back!

After sending my email to the President and BBB this was my next email.

Thank you for your assistance. **, the installer, was a nice representative of Empire. His customer service skills, professional knowledge of his work and smile is what I needed to calm down. He truly seemed like he wanted to please the customer. He wanted to satisfy me. He drove from home when he received the call to resolve my issue. However, without an assistant, the quality of work may potentially be sub par. He may need to replace more boards if he did not have another installer to assist. And I can not help him move the two sofas if need be.

** took photos of the chip in case anyone needs to see the defect. It was hard to see unless the light reflects on it just right and that also depends on where you stand in the room. From one side of the room, the defect looks visible... not from the other side. Thank you for sending **. Hopefully, we can resolve this issue on our next scheduled day, October 15th, with two installers. I appreciate the effort in resolving my customer complaint.

    Original Review: Oct. 1, 2016

Laminate flooring put in early Spring 2016. Need one floor board replaced due to a faulty installation. It is chipped and could with time rip off the board leaving me with a poor appearance on the floor. When I called to discuss this issue it was hard to connect with each other. Finally, in August, a reviewer came to look at the floor/board. I had put an "X" on the spot with tape because the chip is hard to pick out unless you are able to capture it in your vision.

Well, the reviewer took photos. Said it was pet scratches and would do me a favor and repair for an extra $500. I said, "What? Did you see the taped "X"? The rest is dust!" The "X" was photographed yet the tape was NEVER removed to see the chip underneath. I had my 96 year old mother at the house to let the rep in and review the issue. She thought it was odd that he/she never lifted the tape. However, did not say anything.

Finally, agreed to replace the wood laminate board as part of my warranty and scheduled a Saturday so that I could be there. 1st time scheduled, Sept 10th. I called customer service the day before to ensure I was scheduled for a repair. I was told that I was and that I would hear the ETA first thing in the morning. That morning at approximately 9:00am, I received a call to hear that Empire did not have the applicable materials, and therefore, will not be showing up that day. When I talked to the local office, I was informed that he was not sure "WHY the materials were not in because this is common materials used by Empire". Please note, that this appointment was scheduled weeks before.

Ok, we schedule for October 1st. I canceled two other engagements to ensure I was home for Empire that day so that I could resolve this situation. WHAT IF I HAD TAKEN OFF OF WORK FOR THIS APPOINTMENT? Today, October 1st, again I waste another Saturday! I am told by customer service that I am a priority and scheduled for October 1st and will receive an ETA that morning. Well, I wait and no estimated arrival phone call. I call the local office about 9:30am and have yet to receive a call back. I call customer service at 10am and I am told an installer will call right back.

At 11:45am, I call customer service and am told the installer called in that he broke down and can not come at all today! I said and when was someone going to notify me. When speaking to call center supervisor, Jasmine, her notes indicated that Diane **, contacted me. I called her at 10am. Furthermore, the notes indicate that someone called me about an hour later and indicated that someone called me to tell me that the installer will not show up. Well, why would I call customer service at 11:45 am to find out ETA if they did call? By the way, it is a cell phone and all calls are inventoried. Caught in a lie someone!

This is APPALLING, CUSTOMER SERVICE! AND THEY WANT ME TO WASTE ANOTHER DAY WAITING. REALLY? Saying all they can do is RESCHEDULE me? Why would I trust that Empire really wants to resolve a customer complaint after I am just left hanging two Saturdays already. How would I be compensated if I took off two days of work and for nothing!

I called Empire for their 50% off promo for their flooring. I was in a rush because I was running out of time to go to other places so I went with them. I take full responsibility for that. But I felt like I was ripped off. I’m not happy with the product and was shown samples of only the expensive ones. The salesman did not tell me anything about the product, and he brought out his three ugliest samples and said, “These are the three that you could get 50% off of." He said those were the top laminate products, He didn’t show me anything else, so I thought that was all they had. So I just picked one out of those booklets that he had. But when he was about to leave, I saw that he had a ton of other samples in his car.

Once the flooring got in, they smudged every time they were walked on so every single night, I have to wet the floors. It's very frustrating. The salesman was nice, but he only had been doing that for three months and I can't believe I got someone like him. But I saw as he was going through the sales presentation, and when I think back on it, this is not even the flooring that I really wanted. It’s really shiny and you just have to walk on it and it smudges. He didn’t tell me how to clean it, nothing. So I had to figure that out for myself. Also, I did a comparative shopping and found out that I ended up paying over $3,000 more with them than if I had gone with another establishment.

I was initially quoted a price of $20,000. I said, “You must be crazy.” Then he gets on the phone with someone and comes back and, “No, it’s $9,000.” I told him he can't just drop the price into half like that. I told him to tell me how much it was per square foot since he measured everything so they should be able to tell me how much the product was. But then he went through this process of choosing the three different floors which I liked best. So I picked them and I went, “This is number one, this is number two, this is number three.” Then, he puts one at $19,000 in change, another at $17,000, and the last one at $15,000. But before I knew those rates, he told me that he will call and get half off. I said, “Wait a minute. Let me do the $15,000 and get half off.” He then said, “Oh no, he won’t do that. He only did it because you chose this one.” I told him it didn't make sense to me.

And then during and after the installation, their reps mixed me up with someone else since they told me things they were gonna do or situations that need to be addressed but they weren't applicable to me. Somewhere, they don’t have their stuff together. I will write a letter to the President of the company and take it from there. There is no way I would use Empire again.

Before signing the contract, I explained the salesperson very clearly that its a 14 years old house and the floor squeaks little bit in bedroom and I would like this to be taken care of during carpet installation. It was a minor squeak and sales person agreed that the installer will fix it. Installer heard the squeak and aligned to fix during installation and said they fix these minor issues anyways. Not sure how they removed the old carpet or installed the new, the squeaking noise increased multi-fold after the installation of the carpet!!!

I contacted the empire sales person, Empire customer service via phone / email and whatnot. Nobody bothered to return my call or contact me. I reached out to BBB, then someone contacted me after a month. We agreed to get empire inspect the carpet and set up an appointment. Nobody from Empire showed up for appointment!!!! I contacted them again, set up another appointment. NO ONE SHOWED UP AGAIN FOR THE APPOINTMENT!!! Contacted them third time... Set up third appointment.

This time installer showed up close to the end of the day, inspected the carpet and agreed upon excessive squeaking noises coming from floor and said he will get it fixed after submitting the report. Week went by, did not hear anything from them, I followed up via email... No reply for a week. Followed up again via e-mail... Got reply after 5 days stating there I a minor squeaking noise and nothing needs to be done!!! This is height of disappointment and frustration. I am now reporting the case to Attorney General... I don't know where to begin. This has been a painful experience for my wife and I. Empire arrived to install engineered hardwood in our basement and hardwood in our 3rd floor of our home on 9/26/16. To our surprise, the installers told us they only received notification of the basement, only bringing the materials to cover that area. We called Empire to inquire about the supplies for the other rooms, which they kindly admitted fault and gave us a small discount for the shortage and we happily rescheduled the rest of the order to be completed two days later, 09/28/16. This is when the nightmare began.

I spent the entire day on that Wednesday talking to a combination of their customer service reps, Installation department coordinator, supervisors, and sales sales manager, trying to find out why the installers have not showed up for the scheduled installation. There was a severe confusion between the installation department and sales department regarding whether an installation was in fact scheduled for that day or not. All of the customer service reps, to include supervisors and a sales manager confirmed that there was in fact an installation scheduled for that day. Two installation department personnel to include a coordinator, stated that there was no installation scheduled for that day and that they needed to speak with management to clear this issue up.

I was placed on hold many times for very long periods in order to get some sort of clarification, and I was very patient in doing so. There were times when I was placed on hold so long that I had to call back and start over again. It got so bad that I actually had to start taking a log of names just so I can remember of who I spoke to and what was said. They kept on telling me that someone from sales would call me back, which never happened. I called one last time late in the afternoon to see why no one has attempted to call. At this point all hope was lost because it was too late to install on that day.

I finally was able to speak with someone that actually felt the anguish my wife and I were put through, and his name was Joe. He was a supervisor who opened up a ticket that included everything that transpired on 09/28. He even agreed that the compensation that he could authorize to provide was too low for the severity of our situation and recommended that I talk to management for a fair number. This was just for the compensation, without even getting an explanation from management for where the communication broke down, and to assure that a new install date was confirmed. This ticket was made 'high priority' and that it would be visible to management first thing in the morning Thursday 09/29, prompting an immediate call to myself from management.

Well, it is a little after 10 pm today 09/29 and I never received a call, not one. My wife, an Air Force vet who just started her job in nursing had to plead with her supervisor to get the day off for install as I was out of town and she was the only one available to be present. We don't know if Empire even cares about completing the job and honoring the order. We don't know if we'll be able to actually get a chance to speak to one of their 'managers' in order to sort this out. All hope and trust has been lost and we don't know where to turn. We don't know who will help us, so I hope this review will finally get someone's attention that will take complete ownership of this situation and arrive to a positive resolution for my family and I. Empire management please call me, we have not given up on you, don't give up on us.

We’ve done enough renovation and we did consider other brands before we went with Empire Today. Their cost and quality were definitely better. We got in on a good sale which was very helpful, but the fact that they were moving furniture and doing the complete job more so than the others made us decide to go with them. They did a good job on the carpet which they installed in our 3 bedrooms. The representative was also very nice. He came to the house and was polite. It went well with him, too.

I've seen Empire Today on TV and the radio ever since I was a kid. They have years of doing work so I got carpet and floor to the bathroom from them. The color of the flooring is my favorite and everything is real fantastic. They came when they said and there was no delays. They had what we ordered and they had enough carpet. That was not the case in what I had experienced years ago when I ordered from other people. I was 1000% happy with everything they did.

That was the only problem, but otherwise, the installers were very nice.

It was so much more convenient to go with Empire Today compared to others. We met with their rep about two weeks before we moved in to our new house, before we closed, so the previous owners allowed us to come in and get the measurements done. And then, they did the quote and we were able to schedule the carpet installation. We closed on a Thursday and they were able to do the carpet on that Friday. The installers left everything really clean. They did a nice job and everything was really good.

Empire was a little cheaper than other brands and I know the guy who came to the house. I got them to install carpeting because we're getting the house ready to sell. We didn’t go to an upper-end carpet so it did exactly what we needed it to do and it looks great. The installers were awesome, very polite, clean, neat, and did a little more than they thought they were gonna have to do even though that was part of it. There was a little area that they had to do a little extra work on but there were no complaints. They got it done and cleaned up well. I’d recommend them.

Because I have a dog they tried to claim it was urine. Then I was told because it was behind the couch maybe a water bottle rolled under and leaked. They insisted so how do I disprove any of this? I had to pay $250 to have it replaced. It would have been more but I had a leftover box from the original installation.

They sent crackhead installers, I had to call the main office every day to get them to come to work on my flooring. They'd arrive at three in the afternoon and stay til after 10. This was a nightmare. After they left, we discovered that they hadn't nailed down the trim, they had just laid it on the bottom of the walls to make it look like it was done. Same with the floor vents, they weren't screwed down. A couple months later, we discovered that the vinyl in the hallway hadn't been glued down. When I called and complained, they offered me a thirty-five dollar refund as compensation for this nightmare. I laughed at them, I couldn't help it. I am so angry and so burned by this company, I wish I could hire a lawyer and get some of my money back.

I was shopping for new carpeting for a house my parents bought. They live over 90 minutes away and are 87 and 84 respectively. My mom has Parkinsons and uses a walker. It's not easy for them to get here to get the house ready, so I'm doing it for them. I preface with this info as I told the same thing to the salesman... and you can read how things ended in #3. My issues:

    1. When I called I asked if they had availability within a certain price range, as I did some research. I understand the toll free number won't provide exact prices and of course it depends on selection, I just simply wanted to know if there were options within a range. They won't tell you. I knew I was getting set up for the hard in person sell, but being short on time and not wanting to go to various stores, I went for it anyway.

    2. They don't give you any contact info for the salesperson. I am a realtor and had a closing time get moved up today. I needed to contact the sales person to ask them if they would be there by 12:30 (had an 11-1 slot). I waited on hold for THIRTY SEVEN MINUTES. THIRTY SEVEN. If I had 37 minutes to waste, I would have went to a store. Mind you, they didn't even pick up in that time... thankfully the salesperson called me to say he was on his way, so I hung up with holding for "customer service."

    3. Salesman showed me stuff and gave me a price. It was slightly less than a price I got another place, but I just didn't like the color or fabric as much. I tried to call my mom to tell her the difference since after all, it is her house and her money. Maybe she'd just want to spend less. She was at doctor so couldn't talk. I explained to the salesperson Howard that I'd have to discuss the options with her and get back to him.

I started getting the "If you don't buy now then when you call back it will be a higher price" speech. I said fine, if I decide to go with you, call back in 2 days and it's a higher price, then I'll just go elsewhere. He proceeded to pressure me, telling me he shouldn't have to come back, how my mom should have been there, etc. I said I already explained to you that she is 84, lives 90 miles away and has trouble walking. I am doing it for them. He then referenced me being a realtor and how do I like it if I have to take people out again. I told him I don't pressure my customers into a house they don't want and go with them as many times as we need to to find the right house. In a perfect world would I love it if they bought first house? YES. But that is a rarity and I certainly don't try to bully them into it.

For another 5 minutes and several more times, he insisted how he shouldn't have to come back. I responded, you don't... everything is written down and measured so if I go ahead no need for you to come back. AGAIN, AGAIN and AGAIN he repeated how my mom should have been there. Well let's see, do I care about your inconvenience at 30 years old coming from 10 minutes away, OR MY 84 YEAR OLD MOM WITH PARKINSONS WHO LIVES 90 MINUTES away?

I finally said, "ENOUGH, I'm done with you, you're an **, please leave." Don't like that I called him a name, but he was so obnoxious at that point it just came out. Horrible Experience. Horrible. P.S. Oh and I think he tried to add on 30+ extra sq feet and gave me a questionable excuse when I questioned him on it. I ended up going to a local carpet store and got a better carpet, better warranty, less expensive and nylon not polyester.

We haven't cleaned it a whole lot because it's new, but it's fine. There were two things that I tried to deal with in getting the carpeting done. First was that we were in a hurry to get the carpet installed in one room in particular. They made an appointment to come in here right away. But the guy that was supposed to come for the appointment didn't show up and didn't call.

I called four times during the time of his expected arrival. At first, the call center couldn't reach him. So, we didn't even know if he was going to come that night. Actually, somebody had come out that night, specifically to meet with him, and had to stay overnight somewhere because he did not show up at the appointment. They had to reschedule and send somebody else, a woman, to do the sales appointment. The second was that there was a step that needed some repair. I tried to find out from the woman they sent if that was something that they could do and what would be involved in getting that done, but she didn't ever give or get me an answer, and that was problematic. So, I had to hire a separate handyman to come and repair the step, and I had to get him to hurry before Empire's installation people came.

I have been double billed by Empire. I have called Wells Fargo and they said I have to work with the Empire folks. This double billing took place Aug. 31st. I have been in contact with Empire but as of today the problem is still not resolved. I don't understand why this has taken place to begin with and am very dissatisfied that it has not been resolved as of yet. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide to resolve this issue once and for all. As your records will verify, I have recommended other customers to Empire and right now I am very concerned.

The installation team did a great job with the project. They helped moved things and even helped repair a wobbly leg on a dresser that they moved. The results are great and the crew was quick and courteous!

We had Empire Today install some carpet in our home. My father always dealt with Empire in the past, so we went with them. He liked the way they come in and laid the carpet, and they do it very fast and efficiently. In fact, I like that they put the new carpeting up so fast. I'd recommend them.

We love our new flooring. The only flaw is a loud squeak by the front door when you step on a couple of boards when you come in or leave. Family members and friends have already commented on this. We really think this leaves a bad impression on the type of work done.

I had a pretty good meeting with the sales associate. Very convenient, a he came to my home, and had large samples provided to give a better idea of how it would go together with the rest of the room (wall and furniture color). However, the installation schedule and process was miserable. They rescheduled the first time, and gave us advanced notice, which was okay, just a little obnoxious. The second time however, we were called after our installation window, saying they would not make it until the following day. My wife ended up having to reschedule several appointments each day to be available during the inaccurate, and long windows of time.

I had wood laminate, carpets, and linoleum installed by Empire Today. Everyone was professional and everything’s been good. I'd recommend them.
