So I had to have Empire come out. One of their representatives took pictures of it, took it back to Empire, and said yes, “Your rugs shouldn’t be laid like that. We have to take up your whole dining room and living room again and re-lay them.” And then they said, “There is gonna be a charge to move your furniture.”
I told them they're not charging me to move my furniture. They’ve got to be kidding me. They did shoddy work and they want to charge me. It has just been one nightmare after another. Then I had to fight with them all day long until finally, they said, “Fine, but we’re not moving anything delicate like free-standing clocks or pianos.” It’s a pain in the neck because when I get rugs laid, I have to move all over again. I’ve got to take everything off of the tops of my tables. I’d never use Empire Today again.
Dear Lynn

Empire Today could install the carpet flooring the next day and this was what made me choose to buy from them. The carpet flooring was installed in the bedroom and it's good and its color is my favorite. It was a great experience with Empire Today.

I contacted Empire Today to ask about options for doing stair carpeting or another option. A representative came to my home and showed different styles of carpet texture and color which helped me choose what went with existing flooring it would be adjoined to. Being on a fixed income I was able to opt for something in my price range and felt good about the fact that it would hold up to the traffic going up and down. Very satisfied.

First, Empire canceled/rescheduled the day before installation date. Which was unacceptable. Three rooms were prepped for installation. Walk in closets as well as rooms were unable to be used for the next 10 days due to the rescheduling. Which caused us much undue stress, frustration and inconvenience. The tile took an extra day but was understandable due to circumstances. The carpet was done in a timely manner but the installers broke a floor lamp and a hand tool went missing. We could have understood about the lamp if something was said. Nothing was. They also did not have me fill out the completed installation form. Only wanted me to sign it.
Lastly, just today we found out from Wells Fargo that our financing was set up all wrong. Not at all what we agreed to. When we purchased the flooring, we were led to believe Empire was a leader in the industry from a customer service and professional point of view. That certainly has not been the case in our instance. It has been our experience with Empire that they lack proper communication skills with the customer.
Your concerns are important to us and we regret to hear the events that occurred throughout your experience. We will be in contact with you shortly to start working towards a solution.

OMG these guys were fast! They were on time, and took like, maybe 2 hours? The floor looked fabulous when they were done, and they cleaned up as they went along. I would be happy to recommend Empire Today to whoever asks (actually, I already have!). Very professional, clean, prompt. A real pleasure doing business with them.

Installers showed up and had to have payment before they would start. We had a check written. But, the third party that verifies checks for Empire could not verify our check. We called bank and problem was not there. Finally just gave installers a credit card and they were able to start the job. Installers did not have enough product to complete the job. We had to make calls to Empire to ascertain when the needed product would be available and reschedule with the installers. Installers arrived and we noticed the dye lots did NOT match exactly. This was noticeable as one color was in hallway and another color was on the stairs connected to the hallway.
Installers worked quickly and were very willing to move furniture around, etc. Good clean up afterwards. I had asked for some screws to be put in flooring to alleviate some of the squeaky floor areas. Installer just put in some nails. Consequently, the squeaks are coming back after only a few days. I realize the odor from the new carpet and pad can be noticeable for a little while. But, installers left the doors propped open with A/C running constantly which allowed dozens of flies to enter the house.
We regret that your installation was not a great one from start to finish. Your satisfaction is important to us and we'll be in contact with you shortly to learn more.
Thank you.

Jeckyll: I was originally sold on Empire when their salesman performed a "whole house" measurement, for what would be both carpet throughout 1st and 2nd floors, and new vinyl in both the 1st floor kitchen/bathroom and upstairs bathroom. Vinyl to be done this fall, carpet to be done in the spring. We negotiated a price we were happy with. Then the problems started.
Hyde: The vinyl installers were scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 13th by 9 a.m. I took a day off from work to be home. 9 a.m. Tuesday comes and goes. No show. I got a call from the installation manager at 9:30 cancelling but promising to reschedule. So I'm out one day of work, but hey, they promise to schedule something ASAP. They call back later to say they'll DEFINITELY be there by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept 14th. I take another day off (this time, on late notice). 9 a.m. Wednesday comes and goes. I get a call Wednesday at 9:15. They can't make it...and not only that, they can't make it that week. I'm now out two days of work. But they have good reviews, and the price seems OK, so I agree to find another time.
After two days of go-round, they promise to arrive Monday, Sept. 19 by 9 a.m. I take another day off for Monday. 9 a.m. Monday comes and goes...but hey, they finally arrive at 11:30. OK, at least they're installing Vinyl, right? They confirm "yeah, this downstairs kitchen/bathroom, and the upstairs bathroom, right?" I say "yep." I am then required to pay, in full, for the project. They run my card. The charge clears. They get to prepping both kitchen and 2nd floor bathroom for install (rip up quarter round, pull out putty and caulking along sides of tub, remove toilets, use staple-hammer to hold down the existing floor -- particularly in the 2nd floor bathroom.
Here's the worst part. About 2:30 p.m., after everything is ripped apart -- and AFTER I've already paid in full -- they tell me the 2nd floor somehow wasn't actually included in my order. They say they don't have the vinyl for it. They say "talked to the sales and installation managers". They were told it was never part of my order...Oh, but if I want, for an ADDITIONAL PRICE, they can have someone else come back and do the upstairs bathroom. Several calls with he installation manager over a few days and, lo and behold, the executives at Empire have said, in effect, "tough luck. Not in your order" (despite being part of the order at every step of the process until AFTER they were mid-project).
I can't begin to tell you how dissatisfied I am. Two cancellations. Two days of work lost. Then I'm told -- mid-installation and after paying in full -- that the upstairs bathroom was somehow mysteriously not part of a whole-home quote in which we specifically discussed vinyl downstairs and upstairs (hell, my wife talked with the sales guy about making sure the vinyl matched, and him agreeing it was important to do them at the same time). Now, here I am, two days after installation, with a torn-up upstairs bathroom, exposed staples all over the place, not caulking or quarter round...and no further response from Empire.

Dealing with the Empire salesman was pleasant. He his product and help us with the selection. We very happy with the rugs. The installation crew was very professional. The problem was, we asked that installation be done before 5:30 because of condo rules. Installation crew did not show up until 2:00 in the afternoon. Did not get done until after 6:0.

Compared to the other brands I considered to get the job done, Empire Today's prices were very reasonable and competitive. I had them install a rug in the bedroom and the wooden floor at the entryway to the house. I like the wooden flooring and my daughter loves the carpeting. My new flooring is what I expected it to be. They did a good job and I had a good experience with Empire Today.

The salesman took his time showing and helping me decide what flooring to choose. He understood I had a budget but after he left I realized that the promotions I had read about had not been offered and was told that the flooring I had picked was not on sale and wasn't part of any promotion. When the installers arrived to start the flooring they couldn't start the vinyl plank because they found tile that they thought could have asbestos so they installed the carpet in the living room and bedroom. They did a good job of installing but damaged a light fixture when bringing the carpet through the kitchen instead of through the living room. I had the tile tested and it was found to not contain asbestos. I faxed the certificate on a Wednesday and made an appt to install the flooring on that Saturday which was confirmed.
On Saturday morning I received a call from Chicago to inform me that they still needed the certificate and would not be installing that day. After being without a floor for 2 weeks, I was a little hot. I finally reached someone later in the day and told him that they did indeed have the certificate. I was put on hold for like 5 minutes and when he came back told me that he did find the certificate and asked me when I would like the flooring installed. I responded TODAY!! Of course I was told that this was not possible and I scheduled it for Tuesday. I had actually made 2 appts that week that no one showed up for.
When the installers got there Tuesday I found them very hardworking and they went above and beyond my expectations. I was told contrary to what the salesman told me that Empire hires sub-contractors to install the flooring. While I was happy with the second pair of installers I will never hire Empire again. Their claim of the lowest prices is a joke.
We are saddened to hear about your experience. Your concerns are important to us and we will be in contact with you soon to discuss in more detail.

Installers broke two toilets, refused to put down subfloor that was paid for, and failed to install quarter rounds in all bathrooms. Contacted the Atlanta office several and was not called back intentionally. Through several calls and being on hold for 10-20 minute intervals each call, I was transferred several times and told that someone will come and assess the damage. Ava and Charlene were extremely rude and unapologetic about my experience. In fact they acted as if I was bothering them. This is by far the worst Decision of my life. Apparently they contract temporary installers that do not speak English clearly and one of them I caught with my belongings (hat) on their person while they were FaceTiming their family as a joke. To sum this entire experience up: very unprofessional and a complete waste of money. Do not make the mistake that I made!! I now have to repair the toilets and rerun my alarm wire. Which may have been cut intentionally!

We were happy with the quality of the carpet and the new wood looking tile floor in our master bath. Each installer was pleasant and did a good job. And, it was half the price of other bids.

The contractors who came to our home did an excellent job with the carpet install; they were very professional and efficient. However, I was very disappointed with the salesman - especially since he provided us with faulty information. Initially, we did not want to get our staircase carpeted, we wanted to just stain the hardwoods under the carpet. The salesman looked under our carpet on the stairs and informed us we did not have real hardwoods, just plywood. So we decided to re-carpet. The day of the carpet install, my husband quickly learned - that was not case - our stairs are most definitely made of real wood, not plywood. This was very disappointing, as the original vision and plan for my house did not include carpeted stairs - a look I am not happy with and did not want!
The other issue was with our bathroom. We originally were quoted a price without re-carpeting the bathroom, as we did not want carpet in that room. After deciding the price to insert hardwoods was too much at the time, we decided to stick with carpeting. The salesman said he would give us the carpet bathroom area for no added cost, as there would most likely be enough carpet in the order to cover the bathroom. However, that was not the case, he ended up charging us for the extra carpet and then on the day of the install, a bunch of extra carpet was left unused. We were planning to get all of our hardwoods replaced with Empire, but I am not sure I can trust what I am told by your representatives.
We have read your review and regret that your sales experience was not a positive one. We appreciate your feedback and will investigate further into this matter.

My vinyl planks were installed on 8/19/16. When the stove and fridge were moved and replaced the kitchen floor was scratched and the stove was not level. There was also areas that were smudged mostly in front of fireplace and the doors. I called with my complaints and installers were sent to level the stove, replace the damaged planks and "clean the floor". The stove is level, but the smudges are still there. They replaced the damaged planks but in the process to placing the stove and fridge back they scratched the floor and it was worse than the original damage.
When I called I was told that if they sent someone out again I would have to pay a service charge but they could send someone out to repair the damaged planks. Today is Sept. 21st and no one came. Neither have I gotten a call from Empire. I also asked if there was someone I could speak to regarding an adjustment of my bill and I'm waiting for the customer service manager to call me since she is the person that would have to authorize it. My plan was to have carpet installed in 2 bedrooms later but after this experience I don't think I will be using Empire again.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We are disappointed to hear that your installation experience was not a positive one. Your concerns are important to us, and we'll be in contact with you soon.

I had Laminate, Carpet, and Tile installed. This was supposed to occur over the course of 3 consecutive days, a week and a half prior to moving into the house.
The first problem was on Monday, August 15th. The tile installers never showed up. I called the corporate number, and they didn't have any record of a tile installation for me, just the Laminate. I went to the local Empire office and spoke with Jackie. She was aware of the issue, evidently, the estimator had written down a color that didn't exist in the brand of tile I chose. I showed her what tile color, and she said they didn't have anyone to install it that week, that it would be the following week.
The laminate guys came on Tuesday. They did a good job but almost ran out of laminate prior to finishing the job, so didn't have any extra to leave with me in the case of problems later. The installers would get a 5-star rating, but someone loading the absolute minimum materials would get a 2.
The carpet guys came on Wednesday, the day of my Father's funeral, so I wasn't here to supervise. I had other friends/workmen in the house, though.
The installers were one experienced guy, one novice. The Experienced guy was showing the novice how to lay padding - and did a VERY poor job of it. There are lumps under the carpet.
They also cut the carpet too short in some places, as well as "pulling" some chunks out at the edges. To salvage the job - so we could move in on time - I had my guys put quarter round down. On carpet.
They also left a bag of trash on my central heat and air unit - they had just thrown it out the window - as well as the carpet core on my front lawn. They left with no warning, without saying anything to the guys who were there. Carpet installers get a 1 star (or less!)
The tile was installed on Thursday and Friday, August 25-26, and we moved in on the 27th. They didn't seal the grout, either, I had to do it myself.
As a resolution for the Tile and Carpet issues, Empire refunded part of the cost for both jobs. I am satisfied. Not happy, exactly, because it was a lot of hassle at exactly the wrong time (with my father's death, I really didn't need to be dealing with anything else) but they did, in the end, make acceptable amends.

Installers arrived at 4 pm, worked hard and did excellent job, finished at 7:30 pm. So glad to get it done. Nice carpet in two areas. The floating floor that we ordered is fine, the quality is good and install went ok after some problems getting the correct floor. Even with half off the price we paid close to $12 per square foot installed and I would not rate this floor over others I have had installed at half that price. The sale is very price, high pressure and the price is not broken down for you. You have no idea what you are paying for install or the product. The installer are not employees of Empire, they are third party contractors you could hire anywhere. Not worth the money for what you get.

I am very disappointed in the service I got from Empire. I originally planned to have Empire install shutters in my new home but boy am I considering taking my business elsewhere! Empire installed my carpet in my previous home 5 years ago and I was very impressed with the quality, price and service. By contrast, when I made an appointment for an estimate last week for window treatments the representative never showed up and never called. I had to call them and ask why and they told me he forgot his samples so he didn't bother to show up!
I rescheduled and the second time was a no show again. When I called Empire they didn't have an explanation for the no show. In bad judgment I scheduled a third appointment. This time the representative showed up... and that's when the failure to meet expectations REALLY began. The representative came was more interested in boasting about his new home than he was in helping me. He didn't take measurements of my windows or bring any samples! He went on bragging about how great his new house was for about an hour and then said "You don't really want Empire to install your window treatments, we're too expensive." Then he proceeded to arbitrarily estimate the cost to be nearly $13,000 for 14 windows, and that's with a 50% discount! Needless to say, I declined the offer and told him I'd look elsewhere. Its obvious to say I will never use Empire for anything again.

I placed a down payment of $1000 along with a signed contract for install (9/8/16) for flooring and baseboards at my business location scheduled for 9/14/2016. On 9/14 no show, no call. I call my salesperson who advises me that my contract had not been completed yet and that we would have everything processed by the end of the day and could reschedule the install. I get a call from the corporate office requesting additional information - which I provide. Later that day, I get confirmation from the sales rep that everything has been resolved and we schedule my install again for 9/19/16. My sales rep sends me text letting me know I should received a call between 7 am - 9 am with an eta as to when they will arrive at my business to begin the install.
Today, 9/19, it is almost 9 am and I call the corporate office to find out when is the anticipated eta to begin my scheduled install. I am told that there is nothing in the system regarding my install. I ask to speak to a manager and I am transferred to a Joel. Upon speaking with Joel, he was very nonchalant in his tone in speaking with me. I explained my issue and why I was upset that I have blocked my schedule out twice for this install and I am told today that my order still has a pending status because it hasn't been submitted into the system.
I asked Joel if there is anyway that he can contact who is responsible for this and ask them to push my order through the back end so that I can have my install scheduled and completed because I have other renovations going on and these floors must be done because it is keeping me from completing other renovation projects. Also, the fact that every time I schedule an install, I have to block out my schedule and thus prevents me from being able to service my clients; so I am available for the install.
Again, Joel was very nonchalant. Not willing to speak with anyone else. He claimed that my complaint had been submitted to the appropriate department and they would have to call me back. When I stated this wasn't good enough because this would mean that I would have a 3rd install scheduled and I need to have these floors and baseboards installed no later than the end of the week - that means that I need for someone to resolve this now. Joel kept repeating the same rhetoric and wasn't willing to help me as a customer who has not only been inconvenienced me twice; but has required that I block out my schedule twice for an install that never occurred - this in turn means I can't service any clients on those days.
Joel didn't seem to understand my frustration. There is no reason why we couldn't resolve this issue while I was on the phone. How hard is it contact a manager in the department that has my order pending in the system to ask them to push the order through and schedule my install for the 3rd time? I am so frustrated because he acted like there was nothing he could do - when I know for a fact, he could have went beyond just sitting on the phone and made an attempt to contact someone (even if it someone above him) to try to resolve this issue while I was on the phone. I asked if they could write notes in the system? He said yes. I asked him to write my grievances in the system so I don't have to continuously repeat myself for whenever this "supposed person" is to call me back and try to resolve this issue.
Oh, by the way - I have to wait 24 hours before I can get a response. Seriously??? I have to wait 24 hours for a return call from someone after the company has failed to completed my install, not once, but twice and I am still trying to get my floors installed so I can complete the remainder of my renovations and keep my opening date on time. It would have only taken a few minutes to resolve this, but Joel didn't attempt to do anything outside of tell me no and wait for a phone call, when Empire created this problem to begin with. I need this resolved ASAP and deserve a discount on the price I was quoted for my installation of floors and baseboards. Especially since I have not only paid a substantial deposit, but also blocked my schedule twice where I am unable to service clients for this install.
Thank you for making us aware of this matter. We are disappointed to hear that your installation was not completed as planned. We will investigate further into this matter and will be in contact with you soon.

I had a carpet and a laminate flooring installed in my home and Empire gave me the best deal. I was looking at the same carpet with a different company and it was almost twice the amount of the price for the installation and purchase of the exact same carpet. My friends recommended Empire to me and they recommended Jason, the guy that came to my house. I told him my budget and he tried to go around it and worked with me. We kept calling each other back and forth for a few days and I wasn't really sure if I'd do it. It's a lot of money to spend and you have to get various pricing. But he was real patient with me and gave me some different options. He could've easily given me the most expensive ones but he didn't. I also didn't want to compromise on the quality and he did what I wanted. I like its quality for the price that I got and it greatly exceeded my expectations.

I have a rental, it is 1 1/2 hour drive to get to it so scheduling is critical. Decided on Empire Today to replace the vinyl flooring on three rooms because they are supposed to be able to do it quickly. Signed the contract on 8/23, soonest they could schedule the job was 9/2 which was disappointing but I said OK. Got a call from Empire Today on 9/1 at 9:19 pm saying they would call the next day between 7:30-9:00 a.m. with a time slot so I could be at the site. No call while I am waiting at the job site by 10 am. Call them, they say I have been canceled because of staff shortages. Why did they not notify me? They claim I was notified the previous evening which is the opposite of what happened! I end up rescheduling for 9/7 which the soonest time slot they can give me.
I call them 9/6 at 8:33 p. m to make sure we are on schedule for the next day, after a slight delay they notify me that I have been canceled again, would I like to reschedule for about a week later. I decide that two cancellations with absolutely no notifications on their part that I have been canceled is enough. I decide to cancel the job. Be aware that they have a pretty stringent cancellation policy, I was nervous that I would not get my deposit back since you have to either take something into their office in Chicago within three days of signing the contract or mail it to arrive within the same three days or send them a telegram!
Not sure that telegrams are timely anymore so if you do not live near Chicago your only real choice is to decide the very next day to send them a next day mail notice that you would like to cancel. I would be very careful signing a contract with this company in the future. Do not count on getting quick service like they advertise. If you are in a critical hurry for service check out other companies. Since this website seems to be linked to Empire Today I wonder if they will allow this to be posted?

I had my kitchen tile floor installed with Empire Today. I had a few estimates and Empire was better compared to other brands. I just had Empire do carpeting not too long ago and I figured I would stay with them. I liked the color of the product that they had. However I called the salesman because when they did install the floor, they ran out of tile and the guy that was installing it told me to call and get some extra tiles because he was going out of town, and he wasn't able to do that. I also asked the salesperson if the grout that he used was sealed or not, and he said no and they won't give me anymore tiles. He said he would call me back and he never did so I don't know what's going on. I need to call him to figure out what to do but I know he'll take care of it.

One of my neighbors told me about Empire today and I liked what was done over there so I called them and had them install linoleum in my kitchen and laundry room. The installer did a wonderful job with the way he put down the floor going from the kitchen to the dining room. However, in retrospect, he should've done certain things differently.
For example, in my kitchen, I would've preferred to have a brownish color on the extra little piece down the baseboards which he did all in white. He did a nice job putting it up, but I don't think it should've been white. And underneath the cabinets where I can't see it, he put it in brown and I liked that a lot better than the white stuff because if you're going around there with your shoes and you kick it, you'd get a mark on it. I have also noticed that I will get marks when I just stand there and by accident step on it or come too close to it. Also, he didn't put up the doors in my laundry room correctly and just left. Now the doors are open, I'm not able to open or close them and they came off the tracks. So that wasn't very nice and it's that part I didn't like. I talked to him afterwards but he said he was already so far away.

We wanted to do either hardwood or laminate but we can't afford their prices, so we went with the carpeting. I had done the carpet from Empire Today for my living room and dining room before, and I was satisfied. So I had carpet installed by them in my sewing room as well. I told their rep that we have to go with a budget and he was very good about it. However, he told me that I would be able to reuse my sewing chair on wheels but I cannot move my chair at all on that carpeting. It doesn’t roll on it. I've got four machines that I work off of at one time. So I've got my sewing room designed where I can sew, turn around and do something on the other machine and I can't do it on this.
That’s the only part that I'm really disappointed with. There's nothing I can do about it now but suffer. I wish I went with just regular floors instead of carpeting. And the rep told me that those floors are cold but I said I'm used to it because I'm an old farm girl and they can't be that cold because I've got a bare floor in the kitchen and I don’t complain that floors are cold. And so he talked me into that. The guys that were for the first and second carpeting were very good, polite, clean, fun to work with and fun to talk to.

Our experience with Empire started off pleasant with our sales representative, but is now a headache with installation and installers. We are contracted to have our sec master bedroom suite, loft and hallway installed with hardwood flooring and have been trying to get this done for 2 1/2 weeks now. We took off three days from work with no installation done. First day installers came, could not lay floor due to some unevenness and would need to spread cement glue, did not have any with them. Installers arrive 2nd day, applied cement glue, spatter some of the cement on new furniture. They were messy and careless. Used a bucket of ours without asking. Said it would take 8-16 hours to dry.
Arrive 3rd day, cement still not dry. Asked if they could start installing floors in other areas of the upstairs. We were told no. 4th day, Saturday morning, repeat of Friday, including can't apply hardwood floors in loft area. Day, installers came again and said the cement glue that was laid is still not dry enough. Called sales representative. We informed our sales rep that we did not want the same crew coming back and they had to reschedule for a Saturday when we don't have to take off from work. Sales rep got a new crew - very nice, professional and courteous. Will be back the next Saturday to complete install.
Received a call from Empire service dept to confirm install for Monday. I became very upset and let them know the installers are suppose to be here tomorrow Saturday, instead of Monday and that we were already inconvenience by taking off two days of work, and they must come on Monday. My husband contacted our sales rep again to assure us the second set of installers would definitely be at our home tomorrow Saturday to complete the install. Well, let's see what happens. Also, to let you know, Empire does not do the installers. They outsource for installation. This is why in many cases the installers are no professional and don't give a **.

I signed a contract with Empire on 9/1/16 for purchase & delivery of my carpet on 9/29/16. This included a deposit check in the amount of $300.00. My in-home salesman, David **, said that everything was approved & we had a signed deal. I received from Empire an email confirmation of the order & a written letter confirming that everything was in order dated 9/1/16.
On 9/10/16 I received a very inflammatory letter from Complete Payment Recovery Services, regarding my "bounced" check, & a statement that "my dishonored check had been registered in a national database & that I could be denied the privilege to write a check or open a new bank account." For someone with an excellent credit history who has NEVER in 70 years written a bad check, this is an absolutely unwarranted turn of events. My check, as it turns out, was never submitted to my bank for payment, neither was there a electronic request for payment, when I was told by salesman David ** & Empire Carpet Services that everything went through & was approved. This process has involved hours & hours on the phone with Empire, Complete Payment Recovery Services, & my bank. No one wants to take responsibility or resolve this problem & my salesman will not speak to me or answer my phone calls & HE is the one who has my check.
I would NEVER do business with Empire again & think turning over my information to a credit agency without first contacting me to say that there is a problem is criminal. There seems to be some type of scam going on where your credit can be permanently damaged by something you did not do, & Empire will not help you. I am locked into a contract because I did not receive the alarming letter from Complete Payment Recovery Services until 9/10/16, & the 7 days had already passed for me to cancel my contract. I feel that neither company is trustworthy & they should be reported to the BBB. This has been a total nightmare, so if it even happens, I am very leery of the type of service I will receive at installation. To do this to someone with a perfect credit history is devastating. I am SO sorry that I ever placed an order with EMPIRE!!!

Please, please, please do not use this company!!! Especially in the Rhode Island area. I have had a nightmare experience with them for the last two months. The company sends you a salesman that wheels and deals you a product. Then they contract out companies to do the work. The companies come in unmarked cars and the language barrier is absolutely horrendous. They show up at least an hour late every time and never have the right product. They did not carpet the stair in my living room even though it was in the contract with the salesman. Then customer service blamed it on my husband because he signed off on the job. I was supposed to be there but they showed up 3 hours late and never called.
They came back and fixed the carpet but forgot to put my baseboards in. They made another appointment for me to get the baseboards in and never showed up!!! My husband of course took the day off and they didn't even call us to tell us they weren't coming. They had to come to the house 4 times!!! The job is messy and does not look good! I have at least spent 20 hours trying to fix all the problems. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have never in my life yelled at someone on the phone, and I have yelled at them every time I have called. We spent $2800 and when I spend that much money I expect a good experience but they completely ruined my summer. They are so awful! Please Stay away!

We are in our 60s, no children. However, prior to buying carpet from Empire, the carpet we had while raising our children and pets lasted over 14 years. But, it was burgundy and I wanted neutral and thick for comfort. Decided since everyone was grown and gone, it was time to purchase some nice neutral carpet and laminate floors. My plan was cream color shag in all of the house but 2 bedrooms and kitchen. The kitchen I wanted laminate. The other 2 bedrooms we decided to leave alone (which I'm glad we did because you can compare the over 14 yr old carpet to the junk Empire installed). It was a total nightmare!
I had just lost my Dad and feel like they walked all over me. The salesman talked me into a grey color nylon short shag which I hate! And instead of laminate in the kitchen indoor/outdoor carpet, which I hate. It ALL is falling apart and matted. Matted in rooms that we hardly ever go into. They stripped out my linoleum in my kitchen with a "hatchet" and chopped places on our wall. I did NOT want to get rid of the linoleum. They did NOT speak English so there was a barrier.
Things were torn up while they were moving my furniture. I went in while they were installing the carpet in my "large" bathroom with scrap pieces. I had a fit and said I paid for carpet not scraps. He said that was just the way they did it. It took several weeks for them to install, plus when they moved my NEW refrigerator back in place they busted the shut-off valve and had to go back and tear that carpet. I had to hire a carpenter to replace the soaked wood flooring under it. The 2 year old carpet is matted and I have taken VERY good care of it since install.
Did I turn this in? Did I talk to customer service? Several times!!! They would transfer me from one person to the other until I was exhausted and gave up. This makes me sick and I finally decided that I hope this helps someone before they decide to use this company. The carpet is cheap, this is NOT what I wanted, I'm still paying for matted carpet that I'm embarrassed to show anyone. Their Sales still call me trying to sell MORE. Are you kidding me??? And in my 60s, I won't have what I dreamed of for my later years. By the way, I have ALWAYS made my payments and kept my end of the deal. They didn't!!!

I heard a couple of people who said that they had had Empire Today carpeting put in. We had a laminate put in and we’re very pleased with it and it’s so easy to take care of. We were also very pleased with the workmen. We had looked at some other brands before and we already had some in the house that was here, but what we got from Empire is a lot prettier. So we may have to call them when we can and have them do a couple more rooms. But, for right now, we’re good.

We have a rental property out of state and I had five days to get the carpeting done. And Empire Today was the quickest people that could come out and get it done. They even did Kilz on the floor. The guys were really top notch. Jerry was the guy who sold us the carpeting and was the one that we dealt with with the first property that we have. And because the experience was so good, we ended up using him for our second property as well. Everything with him has been fantastic. I have his number saved for when and if our other properties need carpeting. We’ll just contact him and hopefully we’ll be good to go. And then the installers were outstanding as well. Two of them spoke English pretty well and everyone was professional. They were kind and got it done. I’d use Empire again.

Rep took my info and concern, was told 1-3 business days for the installation department to call me, 4 days later no contact. Called back, spoke to another rep who assured me that Monique with the install department would call me by day's end, of course nothing. Called back and was told my info had been passed to the "general manager " and he would call me at the end of the day. Nothing. Called back, he was off and would call me on Monday. 2 weeks later still nothing but rep did call from the call center only to give no solution. I'm very disappointed in the follow up service I have received or lack thereof. Would not recommend Empire to anyone for any service as their customer service is beyond poor.

Back in June of 2016 I started looking to replace a majority of the flooring in my house just to update the look and value. I shopped around a lot. I decided to give Empire a try, so I scheduled my consult with them. My salesman came out. I had a very pleasant experience, so much so that I scheduled to have my floor installed on August 1. What I soon found out was that their idea of customers service only extended to the sale of their job and no further. August 1st came and the first part of my installation was Lvt flooring on my bathrooms and laundry room. The installer were very nice but the clean up was very poor. I had grout slopped all over these rooms. I did not notice this until they left because they told me I should stay off my floors for a day. They also never but a transition piece back down so it just left my carpet free and lose to snag on everything.
That was my good day. Day two was supposed to start my hardwood install. Supposed to is the keyword here. They never showed. After waiting almost an entire day to hear as to the reason why, I got a pitiful excuse and the promise that the workmen would be there the next day and the job would still be completed in the same time frame that they promised me. Day three starts. The workmen actual show up and they get started. At the time of sale of this flooring job I was informed that all old flooring would be removed and disposed of.
I was in the back bedroom with my dogs because they were supposed to be replacing my kitchen and living room floor. What I didn't know until it was too late was that they never removed the old kitchen floor. They just placed the new floor on top which in turn elevated the kitchen floor so that it was now not level with my living room floor so they had to place transition pieces instead of one seamless floor. Needless to say it looks weird and it is most definitely not what I wanted or expected. When I tried to address this issue I was told that is how all floors are installed. I am not stupid. I know this is not true.
When the installers left that day I was trying to clean up all the cigarette butts they left on my front porch and to my surprise I also found weed mixed in with the cigarettes as well. What people do in their own time is their own business but it should never be present at client's home. Day four and what should be the last day. Carpet was supposed to go in today but yet another no show. So after two no shows. The install going two days over what was promised, and not installed the way I was promised. Me missing two extra days of pay from work for Empire's screw ups. This whole time my salesman is telling me that he talking to his boss to see what they can do to make this right.
I guess the way they thought they should make things right is to never return my calls. Needless to say this company has no concern for customer services or do they feel any concerns to stand up to their part of the contracts they have you sign. I will NEVER recommend this company to anybody. But be sure I will still talk about my horrible experience. People should know how they can possibly treat you. Please learn from my misfortune.

Here are 8 reasons you might want to consider using someone else for your flooring needs. Our initial sales consultation went well and we were excited to finally be getting new carpet installed in a recently renovated floor in our home. It might help to mention that this renovation ran in excess of $15000 so having the experience we had at the tail end of the project has really left us disappointed in Empire. Everything was going fine until the installers showed up. That's when we were faced with the following realization that we made a big mistake in who we hired. They showed up 2 hours late. I received two different calls from customer service that morning with two different windows which caused confusion right out of the gate. When they did not show up on time, I called customer service and they basically told me it is what it is and they will be there eventually.
The first thing they did was to drop a dehumidifier full of water, flooding the space where the carpet was going. This meant we had to clean up approximately 3 gallons of water before the carpet could go down. I found out later that they actually broke the dehumidifier when they dropped it. I discovered this because instead of capturing the water in the holding tank, it now leaks around the housing and the water ended up all over the floor after running for a day. This is a $300+ unit I now have to replace. The installers were in a hurry and appeared to have no respect for our home or the work they were performing. I repeatedly told them to be careful but it didn't seem to matter one bit to them. It was a get it done fast mentality and I don't think they really cared what I had to say.
In their haste they damaged walls and floor molding, not in 2 or 4 or 10 places, but dozens of places. The entire area has new walls and new molding. Now there are chips, divots and scratches everywhere. I can understand a few spots being damaged by accidents and that this is part of the contract I signed, but this is nothing short of carelessness and it's going to cost hundreds of dollars to repair and/or replace. One of the installers spent most of his time trying to work and talk on the phone at the same time. He even asked to borrow a charger when his phone died which I gave him out of common courtesy. This caused some obvious problems with the quality of install. I tried to point out as many mistakes as I could at the time but there was no way to stay ahead of them.
There were "F" bombs being dropped throughout the install. I personally don't have a problem with it but it's unprofessional and if my 12 year old daughter was home, there would have been issues. They laid their tools all over newly stained and installed custom wood sills. Fortunately there was no damage to them. Again, unprofessional. Upon closer inspection of the completed install, I have found areas that are so badly trimmed that the subfloor below is still exposed. There are also a number of areas that are not properly anchored and it's only a matter of time before the carpet settles and begins to come up. I found a few spots while they were still there and the quick fix was to add a staple instead of fixing it right.
I have contacted customer service and after a long wait on hold, I was finally able to submit two different service tickets, one for damages and one for carpet installation. I am currently waiting on a call back from customer service and hope to resolve this in a timely manner so I can at least recover my losses. I would have to say at this point, I don't have any plans to use Empire again for anything.

Empire Today installed some laminate flooring at my home. I looked around Home Depot, Lowe's, and some of the local places, and Empire Today's cost and quality are comparable. I chose them for the speed at which they're able to put in without a wait. The sales rep who came out was good and very knowledgeable. The installers were also good, cleaned up and didn't leave any kind of mess, and were thorough. The flooring has been down for several weeks but it seems to be good and I like that it's low-maintenance.

Never in my life have I experienced such horrible customer service. Initially, the sales personnel was pleasant and we also had a positive experience with the laminate installers. However, we had several issues with the carpet installers as well as customer service and installation teams, which eventually led to us cancelling our order for carpet installation after over a month of back and forth. Our first appointment was cancelled by the company. Then, when the carpet installation was rescheduled the installer said he would arrive in the morning, but didn't call or arrive until the late afternoon. He then complained that he didn't have the tools to take up the flooring and left with no warning. We called customer service and had to reschedule for almost a week later. During this time we were scheduled to move and were unable to settle into our new home.
When the second installation day came, to avoid a repeat of the previous situation, we called about 14 times throughout the day to ensure the installers had the correct tools, but the exact same thing happened!!! They showed up in the late afternoon after we were told they would be here by 10:30 in the morning and they left because they didn't have the correct tools. The installers weren't able to get in touch with a manager directly and when we called customer service we were on hold for about 20 minutes and no one could resolve the issue. Management finally called 30 minutes later, but by then we decided we had had enough and went with another company.

Empire Today installed carpet at my home. We also looked at Lowe's and Home Depot, and the cost was similar. However, I thought the quality was a little bit better with Empire. So I went with them, because of convenience and speed, too. The same representative did the home that we bought, and the home that we're selling. He was very helpful because we were originally looking for hardwood and carpet, but realized that hardwood was out of our range. So, he showed us options that I thought was great because we were definitely looking to go as cheap as possible, and he was able to show us the most economical choices. The team that did the installation was pretty much straightforward. They knew what we wanted, and they came in and did it. Now, our flooring is great, that's why we recommended Empire Today to some family that were looking, and we would definitely use them again if we needed to.

I had hardwood flooring installed in my living room and ceramic in my kitchen and entry way. About 6 months in the grout in the kitchen started to crumble and break apart. I called and Empire sent out a team to fix the floor. They re-grouted the area but it did not last. So after calling about 5 times (no one in the Chicago/Milwaukee answers or returns calls), they sent out someone else. This person said the floor was not secured correctly and re-grouting again would be a waste of time. This was roughly late June. The installer said he would file a report and I would hear from someone within days. I never did of course so I follow up again. I called no less than 10 times before getting a response. After explaining the situation again, Empire sent out an inspector (August 23rd) and he reiterated the floor was faulty. He took loads of pictures and said I would hear back by Friday August 26th. Of course I heard nothing.
I called and someone told me I would be called by Tuesday August 30th. She claimed the report was not filed yet. Keep in mind this is the second time I have gone through this. I called Today, August 31st and was basically told no report has ever been filed and someone would call when it was. It is a crock. Do not order from this company. Customer service is not existent and when you get someone on the phone they will have no clue of previous calls. We had a great experience with Empire Today as far as the salesman and everything goes. The first go around wasn't too well. It should've been explained a little better. The biggest problem was the language barrier with the first two reps that came in. I couldn't understand them good and they couldn't understand me as well. They came in, stayed around a minute, took some pictures, and then left. I got a call back from the salesman and he said I had too much stuff. There was a chest and it had some glass right in it but we thought we had cleaned everything. They were scared of glassware being broken if they moved this particular chest and I understood that. I said, "Well, if you want my business, give me another chance and we will take care of what you said was bad." So, we did all of that and then they called and came back. They were different installers but they did one great job.
The sales rep was very informative and did what we had talked about. He showed us the good stuff and then the medium stuff and we were more than pleased to get the top-of-the-line stuff and it was very good. He informed us on everything on what we should've done but we thought we'd done enough. The two people that came later on really knew what they were doing. The floor looks great. They moved everything back where I told them to put it. They were in and out in a day and we were very pleased with it. I would use Empire again.

There are several things about this experience that were frustrating. The first is that the "deal" they claim to give customers is a sham! They absolutely did not give us a 50/50 deal. We purchased carpet for our upstairs and hardwood for the downstairs. They refused to give us an itemized bill. I told them I wanted a bill that says how much the hardwood was, how much the carpet was and how much we were paying for labor. We wanted to see what we were paying for and what we were saving. They refused and only gave us the totals of the carpet installed and the hardwood. We spent 18,000. Then we were told that there would be up to 20 installers coming to get it done in one day.
Just before the install we were told 1, but 6 people showed up. 2 for the carpet upstairs, and a different crew of 4 for the hardwood. These were not employees of Empire, they were separate crews, that asked for separate checks. (That part was not disclosed ahead of time either.) The crews worked very hard, but they did not leave until 8:30pm. We were outside all day, and they still weren't finished. They were going to come back the following day, but they wanted me to sign off on the job. I told them I would NOT sign off on the inspection until the job was complete.
Half of my rooms do not have overhead lighting, there was no furniture in the rooms, so seeing the floors in light was impossible. The next morning we were called and informed that they would not be back until Monday, which meant another day off of work. When they came back, we showed them some issues that we found, including boards that were sticking up, boards that were apart enough to see the floor underneath, scratches, and the worst part was that the floor moved! You could feel it move under your feet and see it. We thought that perhaps this was due to the fact that the molding wasn't on yet.
They came late on Monday and were told of the issues. They pounded down the boards that were sticking up, told us to stain the scratches and put on molding. They put white molding on the hardwood against other wood. I told them we did not want white molding tacked to wood on wood. "They would have to come back." That meant another day off.
They were late again, and the molding still doesn't match. It doesn't even match each other and are different colors that are extremely noticeable at the corners. They "fixed" the moving floor in two rooms, but didn't want to take the whole floor up. We were told that "it is a floating floor, and it is going to move." That was not part of their sales pitch! It wasn't mentioned at all until it was a problem. I would have never agreed to purchase floors that you can feel and see move!!! I told him that I did not spend that much money on flooring, only to feel it move under my feet. After $18,000+ and 3 days off work, we have floors that move and they have no interest in rectifying the situation. Not one person from the company has called to ask about our experience. I would not recommend this company!
We’re sorry to hear about the problems you've had with your installation. That's not how we want our installations to go. We want work with you to make things right. We’ll be contacting you directly to help.

We're going to get another carpet and I had three other bids. My friend had Empire Today do hers and she told me to call them. Empire Today was all comparable to others with the designing factors. The saleslady was awesome and knowledgeable. It was tough deciding which one and what kind and based on her recommendations, I am so pleased. I don’t think we would have done that at the other stores. Even the kids that came out and did the carpet were very careful and neat with my furniture. They installed it in the bedroom. They moved the furniture and put it back. They’ve removed the carpet and the other place that was all extra.
They were prompt and they’ve exceeded my expectations. I'm babysitting for a puppy and the dog went on the carpet and it didn’t even stain. It didn’t even get absorbed in the carpet. It's just like plastic. The lady said that it was made out of recycled plastic. When I went to clean it, everything totally came up. I was amazed and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

I was supposed to get Berber carpet flooring from Empire Today but their salesperson was telling me about this new type of carpet that's one step above it and is soft and stain-resistant. He even stated that I could spill bleach on it and it won't stain, and I was impressed with that. Initially, I had the two bedrooms done then when I saw the hall after one of the bedrooms was done I said I needed to replace the hallway floor. So I went on and called Empire the next day after they had installed the carpet in the two bedrooms. I asked them to come out and give me an estimate for the stairs and the hallway. The installed carpet flooring is beautiful plus the installers were very courteous and cleaned up after themselves. The whole experience was wonderful. We had actually used Empire before and had no issues with the price and carpet installation that was done that time. They also had a 50/50/50 promotion which was perfect as it's like icing on top of the cake.

My experience with Empire Today has been okay so far. I had carpet put in by them two or three years back and had a good experience before. So I decided to have them put the tiles out in the kitchen since I hadn't replaced it. The tiles looked nice on the floor and complemented the cabinets. At first, I was going to go with the ceramic which I had down before, but it kept cracking. The guy told me that it was lifelong, but it would crack if I dropped something on it. I also had wood laminate in the bedroom. It looks very good and it was something that I'd get any other room done.
The quality of their flooring is holding up really well. The people from Empire Today were very good and friendly. The salesman was very nice and polite and then I worked with two polite young men and they were really nice and comfortable and they put the time to answer all the questions. The ones that came out to install were very polite, too. Some of them don't speak English too well, but they were very courteous. I felt comfortable with the people when they came to my home.

I had some carpet installed by Empire Today in the living room of my house. I was glad I was able to get in contact with them. It was a busy season or time for them. They had a promotion on, and I called them a couple days before the promotion went on. They were located far from me and it took them a little longer to get to me than they had planned. But they got here and I liked the product when they showed it to me.
The price and the product were what sold their carpet to me. I went to other companies and their carpet was nice, but Empire was more in line with my price range for installing a carpet in my room that I wanted to do, compared to the other companies. In fact, one other company had almost double the price. Also, I was trying to get some type of green color for the carpet and I was able to get that from Empire.
Those that came to show the carpet to me and those who installed my carpet were nice people. They helped so graciously, did their job efficiently, and moved everything they were supposed to move. I was well pleased with them. However, they were supposed to give me some information about how to care for my carpet, and I thought this was going to be on a pamphlet, but I have to go to a computer and use it to get this information. Unfortunately, I'm not a 21st century person and I don't know how to use a computer, and that's been a little concern for me. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with my carpeting and I'd recommend Empire to anybody.

Over a year ago I had Empire Today install a new hardwood floor in my kitchen, family room, and morning room. They did a poor job. There were cracks, holes, and dents in the wood. Also, almost every foot of the floor was making noise as you step on it. It took over a year, four quick fix attempts by Empire Today, and me having to hire a third party inspector to get the entire floor replaced. The third party inspector report was damning and mentioned issues that I was not even aware of. This was additional cost to me.
Eventually, Empire Today replaced the floor. We thought that they did a good job because the floor looked good. We decided to extend the hardwood to the remainder of the floor. The new installation crew came and ripped up the flooring for the new install. When they started the new install they realized that they could not continue. The previous install was not aligned properly so they could not continue the flow.
Now facing this issue, I called the Baltimore Empire Today field office, who is responsible for this area. I was told by the representative that any fix to the previous install would be at my expense because they just replaced my floor. I said, "In another life." I was then told that they cannot continue the job until they have a third party inspector to inspect the floor for any issue. The installers left with my house with no flooring in place, the other rooms, including the kitchen were stacked with furnishings from the other rooms so no access.
I called the office to find out why could they not fix the issue and continue. I was told that this install crew cannot because it was not their job. It took four days for an inspector to come and confirm what the installer already told the office. Meanwhile, I tried everyday to reach someone in the Baltimore office, even through that national call center and could not get anyone to answer or respond to my voicemail. By the way, the national call center is of no help. They constantly tells me that there is nothing that they can do to help. All they can do is try to get me in touch with the Baltimore office. I had to drive to the Baltimore office to get someone to look into the matter.
I was eventually able to speak to the representative responsible for my case only to be told that their process does not allow for things to happen any faster. Remember, this is now day 5. Numerous calls were made and messages left. Company's policy is for the representative to get back to you within 24 business hours. That never happened.
I demanded to speak with her supervisor who argued with me and said that this issues was only 24 hours old. After several minutes of argument and her verification that this was a longer standing issue she told me that she can schedule the completion for the next day. The next day, the installers came and told me that they came only to fix the problem and not to finish the installation. I was told that the installation was scheduled for two days later, without any discussion or scheduling with me.
So, today is day 6, the repair is taking place at this moment. Meanwhile, me and my family, including a 2 year old, is stuck in a house that we cannot move around in. The condition is hazardous, especially for a 2 year old. We cannot cook. Our son cannot play inside, because of the house condition, nor outside, because of the heat.
Empire Today is a mess and does not care for their customers. How can you blame the customer for a poor job by your installers? How can you leave a customer's house in such disarray without care or any sense of urgency to resolve it? I have used Empire Today before and got good results. This time around it is a total nightmare. Never again. I gave a rating as high as 2 stars only because of previous experience. Otherwise, it would have been 1.

And because of that, we got it within the price we could afford. They also had nice colors that matched into the house. The installers worked very hard and did a very good job. They came when they said they would come. And one man had difficulty so two men came on a Sunday to take care of what the first man could not do. They worked until they got everything okay, except, it would have been better if the piece where it had a seam was put in another place where it wouldn't be noticeable. But they did a very nice job, I was very pleased and enjoyed working with them. They're also respectful and did not mess anything up. I would recommend them very highly.

The sales rep was great and so was the crew that Empire Today sent in to do the work. They were in and out and cleaned up, and that was perfect. I had Empire Today install the laminate on the porch and the carpet in the living room, dining room, steps, and hall. It was half-price on TV and I wanted to get that because I'm a senior citizen, but I didn't receive it. I called the company and the guy said that I couldn't do anything because it was up to the man who came in and helped me purchase it. But, I did ask about it, so I was a little upset that he didn't. It looked like it was a false advertisement. I wanted to have laminate all over, but it was too expensive for me and I would've got it if I had the half-price.
I was disappointed with the salesman on that part, but I'm satisfied when they put everything in. The installers were very good and clean. They were very nice guys and I really enjoyed them. Also, I like the quality of the floorings and it's what I wanted. However, they need to get things together. Their sales pitch should be upfront and say which one is half-price, but they didn't tell me all of that. So I believe I was ripped off even though I paid for it.

I was a contractor for 27 years and I did home remodeling, roofing, and painting, but not flooring so that’s why I had somebody to do it. My wife wanted to have a hardwood flooring in our living room so I called Empire up and a rep came down. She told me the different types of hardwood flooring and she even showed me some samples. We picked out what we liked and she figured all the material. I'm familiar with all the materials because I was in the building trades, so I know that oak is a very hard wood. And that’s what I wanted and I didn’t want anything else. I also like the color of the wood. She said that it would be installed within three days, which didn’t happen. I had to have three different appointments before they actually got to install it because, I guess, they were tied up. But they finally came and installed it.
The installation was good. I enjoyed talking to the installer who was a very nice person. There's only one spot where he scraped the surface of the hardwood floor when they lifted this huge cabinet. It was very heavy and the two of them were lifting it. They happened to scratch the floor with the bottom of the showcase of this piece of furniture, but I didn’t say anything because I figured it was mostly not that noticeable unless that piece of furniture has been moved.
I understood there was another material underneath the hardwood floor. It would cover the whole floor and the hardwood floor would be put on top of it. But they didn’t put it down. Also, one of the installers was hesitant with the mallet in closing the joints. Some of them could’ve closed in a little more because there's a space on some of them. But other than that, it was good. I watched them install it and they stapled it all in. They were done in six hours with the floor, which I thought was a good timing.
After I made a contract with them and ordered the material and the job to be done, I was watching on the news and Empire Today was having a 50% sale on flooring, and the representative that was here never mentioned that to me. She probably could’ve saved me some money. But, I like the way the people from Empire came in and they're very business-like. Then I walked into a Home Depot and they had it on regular price and it was cheaper than the discounted price from Empire Today. Also, if we buy so much with Home Depot, they will install it for free. It was pricey with Empire Today, but they gave me essentially what I was looking for -- a carpet the next day. The carpet was more than adequate, but it could’ve been a better quality. On the other hand, the people that installed the carpet were great and attentive. I had Empire Today do carpeting in my basement, and it looks good. I had experience with them before with flooring, so I didn’t have to go to different stores. Their price and quality are comparable to other brands. I also didn't have to move too much of my furniture when they did installation. They move the furniture from one side to another. With others, I might need to take everything out. It was a pleasant experience with Empire Today.

Empire Today installed carpet in my home's bedrooms, hallway, and attic. I like that the carpet is stain-resistant and soft. The installation guys were on time and they did a good job. My experience has been good and I would recommend them.

My experience with Empire Today has been perfect. We had a carpet installed in our basement and we chose them because we thought they were the best. Their price was equivalent to the others but the quality was better. We loved their service, too. The efficiency and timing were spot on. If we’re going to do something else, we would call them again for sure. It's very easy to deal with them.

Empire Today is wonderful, I've had nothing but great experience from them. I've used them twice and had them do tiles and vinyl flooring for the kitchen, four rooms and entry hallway. I've heard from other people that Empire costs a little more money but I don't know about that since I've done the half off. Nevertheless, I would rather pay a little more and have a good job.
I knew what I was looking for when I went to Empire. Their sales representative brought the product in, showed it to me, and that's what I picked. She was wonderful. I've called her back every time and gotten a response. The installers were very friendly. They were there when they were supposed to and cleaned up even though they were coming back. I love color of the tile and how Empire did such a great job on it. Anyone that comes in my house always comments on how good it looks.

Due to their price, we purchased carpeting from Empire Today and had them install it in every area of our house except at the kitchen and the bathroom. We like the pet guard even though we don't have pets. We like that feature for a forever clean carpeting. There was one area where the carpet looks like it has a defect. It looks like it has a seam, but there was no seam. The house was sold, so we're not worried about it. Our experience with Empire has been quick and efficient.

I had carpet installed in the master bedroom and tiles in the living room. Empire said I had to have a special type of flooring to go over my flooring but the tile man came and said that they don’t do that because we'll stumble on it. I had to pay $500 for that and the installers didn’t even use it. Empire didn’t have an identical tile color but it was very close. The man said it was 13 and a quarter inch, but it turned out to be only 13 so that left a bigger space and the tile man had to spread the tiles out a bit to balance it out. I also never got the half price deal. The salesman said I had to pay for it first, but I paid full price on everything.
I'm worried there must not be anybody in charge because we've tried numerous times to get a hold of somebody. The salesman said we had to contact this girl and the girl says she didn’t have any further information and we had to contact the salesman. They need to have somebody in charge of the office who can stand up, come out and see what's going on and they don’t have anybody like that.
Your satisfaction is our priority and we regret that your experience was not a positive one. We want to help address your concerns and we'll be in contact with you soon.

Empire Today has better cost and quality compared to other providers so we had the luxury laminate for my guest unit behind my house from them. It would almost waterproof my floor as well. The colors were great and the product is definitely durable. It came with a lifetime warranty. Their staff were able to get there and install it within my limited time frame. I needed it done within two days and it was done from my initial call. It was awesome. Great service, great quality, and a great experience all around.

I had a carpet installed in a client’s whole house. We had a quote from another company in town, and Empire's was less expensive and about the same quality. I’ve also had other clients use Empire and they were also very happy. The carpet looked good and the installation was quick and efficient. This was a good experience for us because we needed to have it done quickly and everything went very smoothly.

Sales Rep was very convincing and friendly during the sales process. I told her I was getting a next quote from Lowe's which was a bit higher, then I called the Empire Rep and asked her if she can at least meet Lowe's price or beat it which she did. We then proceeded to set a date for installation. I was asked to confirm the rug color which I did, but I never checked the thickness of rug which I know now is very important to do. The installer started on the 2nd floor and then finished with the stairs. That's when I realized just how thin the rug was. I even asked the installer about the thickness and he said yes it was the correct thickness. The carpet is so paper thin it feel like I'm walking on a bare floor.
I called the Rep and she said he will deal with it right away and someone will be calling me. Terry called the following day and apologized and said he would call me the next day which he never did. Since then I've called the rep and all she does is hang up on me even after I've sent pictures. In the pictures you will see that this work is going to cost me more money than anything. The 15 years old carpet which I had before the installation was still much thicker than the very new one. The staircase will have to be painted over because the installer damaged the painting of the staircase. I do not recommend Empire.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We are disappointed to know that your product is not meeting your expectations, and that your installation experience was not a positive one. We assure you that your satisfaction is our priority and we will be in contact with you soon to start working towards a solutions.

If I had to review them based on product it would be a 4, but since their customer service is a 0, I used the average. Having worked for the council of Better Business Bureaus for 11 years, I know how businesses should be run. And being that my brother-in-law works for one of Empire's competitors (no discount sadly), I know a little bit more than your average about carpet.
Empire apparently treats their customer as if they are clueless and unintelligent. Once my installation was complete, and I called back to discuss the figures, they told me they couldn't give me the figures because they are "all inclusive". This is a practice used to give the customer as less information as possible to prevent the customer from making educated decisions. Luckily for me, I had them already and wanted to see how Empire would respond. How does a company sell you a product per a certain measurement but when you call back to ask what measurements they used, they tell you that they cannot give it to you? That's shady business.
Also, never in the record of human history (slight exaggeration) has a carpet installer installed carpet and not had extra leftover. To leave an installation and not leave behind the "waste" that was purchased prior to installation along with the rest of carpet is basically theft, you pay for that "waste" it should remain with the customer. Also, the warranty on carpet suggests having a sample piece of carpet to refer to in case of emergency. How does one keep a sample if it wasn't left? But the biggest issue is that it took 3 days and 5 calls to get them to give me a half-ass solution that's truly not a solution at all. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
We are sincerely sorry to hear about your experience. We assure you that this is not the level of service we want for our customers, and we take your concerns very seriously. We will be in contact with you soon to discuss in more detail.

First of all for a company that can spend so much on commercial advertising you would think they would have professionally marked vehicles for the installations. Well they don't. They have just a regular truck and trailer with no markings on it at all, which is a little sketchy to me! I'm handling my father's installation since he works at night and sleeps during the day. Customer Service was specifically told by him to contact me for arrival times, installation etc. So they contact me saying they will be there between a two hour time span. I said "great. Can you give me a call when you are thirty minutes away so I can make sure to be here." The representative said "yes". Well guess what. Did not happen. They didn't give me a call and they contacted my dad, waking him up which we specifically tried to avoid.
I call customer service to ask why I was not contacted. Was passed around to two people before being told they did everything correctly. However they pointed out several times that the request to be contacted thirty minutes prior was not in the notes and that I was to be contacted. Not my father. So first of all if the request was not taken down by your representative, then you need to do a little better training obviously and second of all you completely disregarded the fact that IT WAS IN YOUR NOTES TO CONTACT ME AND NOT MY DAD SO HE WOULDN"T BE WOKEN UP! So please tell me again how correct you were? Your customer service team is by far THE WORST! I work in hospitality and I'm not quite sure how any of them have a job!
We have read your review and we are disappointed to hear about your experience. We want to help, and will be in contact with you soon.

A rep from Empire Today came and lowered the price of their product. Their product was cheaper and that's the reason we went with them. I got the stain resistant carpet and had it installed in the living and dining rooms, upstairs and hallway at my home. I just had one little minor problem where they messed up my alarm system for a couple of days. They came and repaired it, re-stapled down the carpet from where it got the alarm wire. But they were saying that the door needed to be cut because the door is not closing all the way from the bottom and it was because of the thickness of the carpet.

Empire Today installed laminate flooring on the entryway and a small bathroom at our home. We chose the product because of the 50-50 off and then the care for it is easy. I was a little disappointed with the salesman though. He seemed to be so genuine when he came and sold me the product. He was so into it and gave me his card with his own personal direct number so if I had any questions to call him. Then I did but he never ever returned my calls, so I thought that was kinda bogus.
Then the first installer was very nice but they ripped up the old floor when they came. The floor had carpet in there and we didn’t know if there was any leak but the floor was damp so he couldn’t install it. We had to wait for it to dry before it could be done again. The second installers came in and were great. Personality-wise and everything, they were really good. We had no problem with them. The experience was very fine and when I call and get somebody to come out right away, their thing worked good. It was our problem on our end that we didn’t get the floor done as quickly as we wanted but I’m glad that we decided to do that because otherwise we might have the whole rotten floor drop.

I had Empire Today install laminate flooring in the living room. I’m not that familiar with the product but I was impressed with the sales girl that came to our house. I told her I wanted hardwoods and by the time it was all over, she convinced us that a laminate would be better for our situation. We went to Lumber Liquidators and a couple other local places and none of them were as informative as she was in giving us the pros and cons, what colors meant and the cleanliness and look. She’s very impressive. Also, we financed it over a period of time.
Every room in our house has been done with Empire. I love the durability, hardness and location of the laminate. It's not going to fade on us while a hardwood might under an area rug or couch. The laminate is going to remain the same color if my wife decides to rearrange or buy a different sized rug. So all that played into it. We’re also very satisfied with the installation. The installers were here 12 hours putting the flooring in. They worked hard and did a good job. Overall, it has been an excellent experience.

I am so utterly disappointed with the customer service that Empire Carpet provides (or more accurately, does NOT provide). A little over a year ago, Empire installed carpeting in a condo that I own which is tenant-occupied. My tenants were professionals and kept my condo in impeccable shape at all times. When they left, I noticed that the carpet that had been installed less than a year and a half prior was buckling in several places. I called my sales rep and he passed me on to the 800 number for customer service. When I spoke with them, I was told that it was out of warranty and they wouldn't do anything about it. I asked for a higher lever rep, (on several occasions) none were ever available.
On two different occasions, I was told that my concern would be escalated to "the office of the president" and was promised a call from that department within 24 hours. Each time, they failed to call. I called customer service 4-5 more times to attempt a resolution. Each time I was transferred multiple times, then placed on hold for 12-14 minutes each time only to be "accidentally" disconnected EACH time. I was very frustrated.
When carpets buckle after such a short time, there is clearly a problem with installation and/or quality. I am feeling like their customer service policy after installation and payment is to ignore the problem until it goes away. I am not thrilled that I need to turn to such a public forum to express my concerns, however, I find that I have no other choice. I will never use Empire again and will certainly share my terrible experience with anyone looking to purchase new carpets. Empire is very happy to call you back to schedule an installation, but after that, they are the epitome of poor business practice.
Updated on 8/18/2016: On August 10th I posted a negative review on Empire Today. On August 12th I received a "canned response" stating that they were sorry about my experience and they would be contacting me soon for a resolution. As of today, I still have had no attempt from them at resolving my issue. I went back on the site to post this reply and they will not allow it to be done publicly so I must write a new review. I realize they do that so that potential customers will think they are trying to resolve these issues. However, I want to let everyone know that they are absolutely not resolving anything, they are simply placating people and again, hoping these unhappy clients just go away. This is no way to run a business. I will continue to keep the public updated as I feel it is important to have accurate information and not be mislead by dishonest businesses.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We sincerely regret the lack of service you have received, and will be following up with you soon to help resolve this matter.

We had flooring from Empire Today installed in our living room, dining room and hallway. We had chosen another brand but the quality wasn’t what we thought. It was really bad. Aside from the price, it was also the timing to get carpeting done since we were holding back the furniture so that whoever we chose to do carpeting won't have to move anything. What I did notice though is for some reason the carpet feels like there's a step down somewhere. I don’t know how that happened, whether it's the padding or it wasn’t leveled off. But other than that, we love the carpet. We have a new, fresh, plush carpet and we like the color. They did their service within a reasonable amount of time and an excellent job.

We couldn’t get a person to install it for quite a few weeks, so we decided to call a couple of people that install and we couldn’t get anybody until around October. . Empire could get it done right away and we appreciated that. The salesperson picked out a nice pattern that we didn’t consider. He was excellent and helped us a lot. However, they matched the tiles up with the carpet in the living room and it’s 2 inches farther on one side than it is on the other and I’m very concerned about it. But it’s not worth taking out and trying to change, but it’s strange how it came that way. Other than that, the colors matched real nice with what we had in the living room and the kitchen.

It’s like I got my own person to get things started, and if I have questions, he’s always available. The installers that came were very professional. They cleaned up after themselves and didn’t break my furniture. They didn’t scratch up the walls. They would consult with me every now and then and tell me what they were doing and how it’s looking. They knew what they were doing.
I got the veneer laminate for my den and dining room, and ceramic tiles with grout for the kitchen and pantry. The veneer laminate was great because I have an old house and it fits my den so perfectly. It’s absolutely gorgeous and it doesn't buckle. The kitchen tile floor was more difficult to do because Empire had to take up the other flooring that was there and put cement, then my ceramic tile on it. I wanted the grains going long ways on the dining room and horizontally on the den floor. They did that and it's really beautiful! I got exactly what I wanted on both.
