On May 18th my wife and mother-in-law worked with Sales agent to pick out blinds for our apartment. They made an informed decision to go with Empire as you had a great reputation. We were given two weeks for installation. The understanding that the blinds will be installed no later than Thursday June 1st. This was very intentional as my wife and I were about to be in the hospital with our newborn and thought we could depend on Empire to have the blinds up in time when our newborn arrived. It's now Friday, June 9th and I've been informed by Our sales rep that our blinds won't be arriving until Tuesday, June 20th. This is frustrating on multiple levels.

    1. No one at your company reached out to us to inform us about some issue that was taking place. I had to reach out to hear the issue.
    2. We are paying an incredible amount of money for your goods and services that aren't being installed when promised. This impacts my family being able to sleep and the temperature of the apartment and health of our newborn.

    3. We just entered the summer with a newborn that has no blinds in her room that we're promised by your company.

I'm deeply disappointed in the situation we are in. We've already given you a deposit of $725 on 5/18 for your service. We would have had this done in 3 days with 3-day blinds. Update: It's June 22nd and still no blinds.

I had 2 rooms and a hallway laid with vinyl. It wasn't done properly. There's wrinkles and bubbles, gaps and glue on my floor. This took 3 days and 3 nights to install. They came, left cans in my backyard and supplies they didn't pickup. 3rd day of installation the contractor came alone but later called his wife for help. My husband and I with 2 dogs stayed in the bedroom 3 days for them to finish. I saw imperfections and it wasn't corrected. Then I get a bill it was agreed in the contract $71.00 per month, however now it's $116.00. No one at the office has called. I've called several times, but to no avail.

So I'm stuck with messed up floors and higher price. Empire has not reached out to resolve this and I'm thinking of reporting them to the BBB. I told the salesman I and my husband on disability so our budget is important to us, so now we're over our head and it's only been a month. UGGG! Oddly enough when I try to pull up my 16-page contract pages 3 and 4 don't load. I feel scammed. I'd never refer them. My neighbor needs her home carpet. I told her to look for somebody else.

I had some friends who used Empire Today. Then when I had to purchase a flooring, I also went with Empire Today. When I first called them to have their salesperson come out, my appointment was not booked. So on the day I thought they were going to come, where I got off work early and rushed home, they never showed up. But they got it straightened out. A sales representative eventually came and he did a good job. He gave all the samples to choose from. I picked the carpet that was more expensive, but it was too expensive, so the sales rep showed me another one that I could afford. The carpet's cost was good and its color was what I wanted. I had it installed in the living room at home and I like how it's in there. The installation team also did a good job and they were fast.

I wanted my flooring done right and sufficiently. In a lot of places, they get hooked up and it takes months for them to complete the flooring. And so, I had Empire Today install laminate and carpet in my bedroom and living areas. Lewis, the guy who did my laminate floors was absolutely wonderful. The color of the carpet is perfect and the laminate is what I envisioned. I like the color and texture of it. The flooring met my expectations up until my last bedroom. They're trying their best to get that bedroom completed but there was an issue in Tampa where they had the wrong name on the roll of carpet that we needed. And so, they are going to try to install it again tomorrow.

I recently had the carpet replaced in my home by Empire Today. This was the worst experience I have ever had all the way from customer service to installation. My issues began at the very first installation by a team of 3 installers. In particular the installer that did my basement floor. I observed the installer during his process of seaming together two pieces of carpet. He was doing this extremely fast and very sloppy so I questioned him about it because I was concerned about the appearance as well as the quality. He told me it would all work out okay at the end, so I let him continue. Three weeks after the installation was complete the entire seam ripped out of the carpet when my wife was vacuuming.

I called Empire about getting it fixed and they agreed that they would send "Their Inspector" out to look at the damaged carpet and assess the situation. The inspector arrived 4 days later and I explained to him what happened. He then told my wife and I that this was "absolutely an installation issue" and then proceeded to tell us exactly what he was going to do to fix it - "I'll be here tomorrow with another piece of carpet and we will replace the torn piece and do the seam correctly." Great!... Not Exactly.

First he never showed up, never called, and I never received a call from Empire explaining what steps they were going to take next. I called Empire the next day and asked what was going on. The customer service person I spoke to (Melissa) told me that they were still waiting for authorization to repair and that they would call me back the next day with the answer. I never received a call. Two days later I called Empire back asking what was going on and again I got the run-around about having to speak with the inspector and get some authorization to proceed, I was told I would get a call back in 24hrs. Surprise... They never called.

I called again and this time spoke with another C.S. rep - I was not happy at this point having to explain the entire situation to someone else and wait for an answer. She then put me on hold to research my case. After 25 minutes on hold she came back to me and explained that according to "Their Inspector" the carpet was torn due to outside influence and she could provide me with a quote to get it fixed. Now I'm really un-happy! Especially after being told by Empire's inspector that it was in fact an installation issue (I knew all along) and that he would fix it!

After that conversation I went back and forth with Empire for over a week until finally I was put in touch with "Mr. **", the customer service Manager, and only after I had to ask to speak with someone of authority. Finally after multiple heated conversations with him did he agree to have my carpet fixed at no cost to me. At this point I had over 15 days of going back and forth with Empire just to get this issue resolved. To top it all off the only reason we decided to replace carpet in our home was because we were selling and the house was on the market. Just before this issue our home had gone under contract and we were facing home inspection and appraisal. Through all of this trouble with Empire I was constantly reminding them that time was of the essence because our home was essentially sold... They didn't care.

So finally Empire sends out their problem solver, Freddie. This guy was awesome! He showed up and told me that he was going to try to repair the seam using the original carpet...he was afraid that the other piece they gave him would not match. He tried for hours and was very meticulous but in the end unsuccessful. When he took up the original pieces he found even more issues from the original installation that resulted in him not having enough material to do the job right. He took tons of pictures and finally said that the entire floor would need to be re-done with enough material. So he packed up and left. I immediately called Empire. At that point they told me the installers would not be out until the beginning of the next week to complete the repair.

Fast forward a few days... Three different guys showed up to install the carpet that Freddie ordered. They ripped out the original carpet and began to cut pieces and place the carpet into the room only to find out that the new piece of carpet had a huge cut right down the middle and they would not be able to do the job. At this point I'm freaking out! We had an inspection and appraisal scheduled the next day and there was carpet all over the room, up the walls, in the garage... Everything was in disarray. I called Empire again!

Finally the following afternoon (yesterday) Freddie showed up... Thank GOD, with the new roll of carpet. I need to say that Freddie was the best part of the entire experience. He was professional, knowledgeable, meticulous, and respectful. He went above and beyond to make the carpet look great and took his time so that he was sure it was done right. Thanks Freddie!

Overall I'd say this was one of the worst experience I've ever had with a company, their customer service, and their integrity. I for one will NEVER use Empire again, I will deter anyone I know from using Empire and will continue to post negative reviews. If it weren't for Freddie and if I could give Zero stars in the rating I would. Empire should be grateful they have someone as good as Freddie! BEWARE!!

Empire Today installed rugs in my whole house except one bedroom and the kitchen. I left them as is because I wanted to be able to have them put the furniture some place. It’s very good and I have no complaints. I like the looks of it. For me, a rug is a rug. I'm very happy with my carpet. But I need to call later and get information on how to wash or just scrub it. Right now, it's not dirty. So, I don't have to worry about it.

The salesman was very nice and cooperative and the guys that came out were very good which made me stay with them. I was surprised how quickly they did it. And I also liked the idea of financing it and paying it off in a year. That helped me a lot. I'm very happy with the experience. I should have done it earlier but I couldn't let my dog go. And before she died in December, she was urinating and having problems before I had to put her down. I decided that she would be my last dog. I figured after she left, I would have the rugs torn up and get new ones. Everything went well and I was very happy with their service and I'm glad I did it.

My carpet was installed just over 2 years ago and I have had nothing but issues! The initial contact and installation was wonderful but I can honestly say it is a joke. The installers cut the carpet at the shop prior to bringing it out and cut it too short. I have had repeated issues with it coming out of the tack strip and the last time was advised that if they had to come out, it would probably cost me out of my pocket. The new installer came out and put down a thicker strip to save me from coming out of pocket or them piecing my carpet. The carpet has come loose again and I am just at a loss! I do not have the money to put into this right now! So my only alternative is to seek an attorney and or go to the media. I do not want anything except my carpet fixed properly.

I purchased wood flooring from Empire and had them install it in my kitchen and family room. The sales representative was professional and the installers were attentive. The installation was pretty good. I like my new flooring. It's easy to clean but when barefoot, it kind of shows a lot of print from the floor. Also, the cost was a little too high compared to the other choices I have. I thought I would be getting a 50% discount but it doesn't seem like I got a big discount like I thought I would.

Empire Today installed a carpet for me and they did a great job. The most recent one was in the closet and the porch, not too long before that, it was the bedroom. I've always had business with Empire Today and I go back a long time with them. The first job from Empire Today in 2002 was my porch windows when you used to do windows. Then the Mohawk carpet which was only three grand and I also had them do my kitchen floor. The people at Empire were friendly and they don’t mess around. They came in and did the job. They didn't take a break.

I'll never forget the time they came and worked through the carpeting of my whole basement also in 2002. They worked straight through from the morning until late afternoon doing my basement. The salesman at that time told me that maybe, in 15 years, I might start seeing wear on it and he was right. So I put runners on the carpet and vacuum it once in a while. It's like a brand new stuff. During the installation, the guys knew there was going to be two feet of snow out. It was in the dead of winter at that time, and those guys worked their butts off. I fed them after because I knew what they had to go out into and I felt bad. They must have gotten stuck and there were no cars on the road. That impressed me so much that I knew they had a customer for life.

This house is around 55 to 65 years old. At that time, it was springing leaks. It hasn't sprung any leaks down there now in a couple years. But just after they put the carpet in, I had leaks all over the place but it still hasn’t ruined the carpet. That Mohawk still looks brand new. I didn’t have the expensive stuff put on it and I also did stuff in my bedroom, in my closet, and the porch. It's as good as the one downstairs. Although, there were impressions on the carpet and I'm trying to figure out how to get them off, but they still don’t look too bad. They did an excellent job on the carpeting. On the vent, they even asked me if I'm going to cover the vent or not. I said, “Not.” So, a guy came up and did a perfect job measuring around the vent. He was precise and I appreciate that.

When I got all wood, even though I varnish it up, I could tell that it's 50 years old. Empire had to take some of the moldings and fix it because of the old crafted wood there. I sprayed and covered all the holes up but then the carpet covered over that. When you put carpet over it, there's a difference. It's like night and day with the old and new carpeting. It's spongy and it's nice if you're barefoot. It's also warmer in the winter. It's different than just having a rug with nothing under it.

The carpet adds to the warmth in the bedroom, especially in winter. You don’t have people look at the old wood because it's covered. It's another aspect of it. I had two closets in there and I had a big walk-in closet they did for me. When I look in the closet, it's all covered. They did an excellent job right to the edge. This house was just like in demolition before I got here so I called Empire and they added to the excellence. If I need anything in the future, I won't hesitate to call them and go back with because of the positive experience. I already recommended them and they've had other customers through me.

I finally called the company to be told, "Oh he isn't going, would you like to reschedule?" When I asked why they didn't call to notify me, I was told it was because the installer didn't have any phone numbers let me know he had other plans. Empire lacks quality craftsmen & management all around. They hire an outside company to do their work, whether it be carpet or laminate. Empires sales/management office is poor and rarely returns your calls and if they do they do not address the problem at hand nor does the issue get resolved. We purchased new baseboards and they installed baseboards with unmatching/flush corners. If they didn't have corners to match the baseboards they were selling, they should not have sold us the items in the first place. Don't know if that comes down to a uneducated salesman who did the quote, or the main office who provides the installers with the materials.

From day one we had problems... the installers were late, installed defective laminate, showed up with only half the material needed to complete the job, weren't aware of what needed to be installed, and did a "very poor and lazy" job installing the flooring. It has been a nightmare and the worst experience I have ever had. To top it all off we now have holes up and down our stairs from them installing the laminate which I guess afterwards they told us is common but neglected to inform us of this. We now have to pay someone to come out and fix the holes and repaint.

The only good thing that came out of this experience were the carpet installers and our new soft carpet. The crew they sent to do the carpet was fast, efficient and very professional. I wish I could say the same for the management, front office and laminate/baseboard crew but sadly it was a completely different and unsatisfactory experience. What was suppose to take no more than three days, turned into 6 days and the job is still poor, unmatching, and incomplete. No one at this point appears to care nor get back to us to make this right. We don't mind paying for good flooring and labor if it's stress free and good quality craftsmanship...

I moved into a new home and needed new flooring. I called Empire Today and I regret that decision. The consultant came to my home, I picked out a carpet and scheduled an appointment for installation. The installers never showed nor did they contact me to let me know they were not coming. I called their HQ and complained, the rep there gave me a $50 discount. A second appointment was scheduled and they were late. Eventually the installer showed up...with his small children! Yes, he brought his two small kids with him. He did not speak English which made things more difficult.

They scuffed my walls bringing in the carpet. The kids were in and out of my home and the installer used my bathroom w/o permission! Someone cut their finger and dripped blood on my stairs and in my master bedroom. The carpet was installed crooked and finished crudely. The installer failed to bring a vacuum even though they're required to so he asked to use mine. He left dust and dirt everywhere along with loose staples. He removed my closet doors and rehung them incorrectly, they would not close. When I asked that he redo the last step because it was raggedy, he told me to call HQ and they would send someone out to fix it because he had to leave for another appointment. The entire experience was less than professional and nothing like the advertisement on TV. I would not recommend Empire Today Flooring to anyone.

Ordered new carpet and LVT on a Friday for the upstairs floor of my home (around 1000 sq ft). I was a little overwhelmed when the quote came back at $5000.00 but decided to place the order. They took a deposit of $509.78 immediately. Over the weekend I discussed the price with my father who has been in the construction business his entire life. He told me he thought the price was high and recommended I get a few more quotes for the work. I thought that was a good idea so on Monday morning at 9 am EST, I called the customer service line at Empire Today and requested they cancel my order since their contract clearly states you only have 5 days from the date of transaction to do so if you're under the age of 65. The representative agreed to cancel the order and stated I would receive a call from their Baltimore/Washington area location to finalize the cancellation.

After 4 hours, I hadn't heard anything from them so I called again. This representative stated that he did see in his system that the order was cancelled but could not and would not provide a confirmation email stating so. He did give me a confirmation number for the cancellation which no one else in this process has referenced once. Still, he said I would receive a call from the Baltimore/Washington office on this day. Around 8 pm that evening, I still hadn't heard anything from Empire Today so I decided to call them again. I asked the representative to verify that my order was cancelled. Her response was, "Let me put it this way, it's half way cancelled but it's half way not". I again asked for a verification email of the cancellation and the representative told me I would need to speak with their "safe" team and placed me on hold for 30 minutes. After being on hold for 30 minutes, I hung up and called the number again.

Someone answered immediately. I told them of my experience with the last call and again asked for some sort of confirmation email saying my order was cancelled and I would be receiving a full refund of my deposit. This representative again said he could not provide that but could let me speak to his "cancellation department". The "cancellation department" answered fairly quickly but the man on the other line was immediately unenthusiastic about my reason for calling telling me that I would get my entire deposit back without question. I attempted to explained to him that his contract clearly stated I only had 5 days to cancel the order because I was under the age of 65 and was cut off in mid-sentence by him almost as if he didn't have time to deal with me.

He kept guaranteeing me that I would get my deposit back but would not give me any kind of confirmation email or number or anything, saying he did not have the option to do so. Keep in mind that I got a "confirmation number" from an earlier representative. All in all, the sales rep was very nice and helpful and there was a chance that I would have continued business with Empire Today after getting some more quotes (which I stated to every representative that I spoke with) but after my experience with their customer service department, I most likely will not continue business with them. Some of them were very rude. I am writing this review now to put a timestamp on my cancellation since it seems to be the only avenue I have of proving I cancelled within their discriminatory 5 day period for folks under the age of 65 like myself.

But the salesperson from Empire made two trips to our house and she made making our choices very easy. Then the laminate flooring we bought from them was installed in three bedrooms and a den area in our house. We like the flooring because we don't have to worry about the dogs being on the carpet. I ordered a carpet installation for my store and paid in full. A week before my installation I called to ask for insurance paper and a sample to show my landlord and get the ok for installation. Nothing happened and failed to answer or provide any of the documents. So I had to cancel the installation. Now I'm calling to get my refund and that just a nightmare to go through. Every representative tells me a different story and that I'm gonna get a callback but nothing. It's been 15 days now.

Empire Today had the best price and they had excellent carpeting. They also gave me the seven-pound pad, which is their best pad. I was really happy with the installation. The carpet is great and I like it. However, when they first came out here to install the carpet, they wanted me to pay for it. I said that I’ve already paid for it and Empire Today had taken all the information over the phone. They said they didn't have that information and they couldn't install the carpet without that.

When I was on the phone, I can hear that someone beside the staff I was talking to was offering to give an extra $250 off but nobody could hear me. The head of installation called me and I told him if I might be able to get that also. He said that he'll look that up and call me back. But, the only trouble was once they installed it, he has almost no incentive to call me back. He was supposed to call me back the Monday after it was installed but he never did. I called him and left him a message and he still never called me back so I wasn't happy with that.

We've been delayed moving into our new home because we couldn't schedule an installation any sooner than 6/17. We were told that they would be here to install between 8 am and 6 pm. So needless to say we got very little else done because we had to be here all day. CS assured us they would be here by 1:20, then 3:00. It was 5:30 pm when they finally arrived. They told me because the house was so big they wouldn't finish and would have to return the following day @ 8 am. Again 8:00 in the morning. They got to work ripping out old carpet and measuring. I even fed them dinner running to McDonald's for them before they left. They assured me again that would be here at 8 am. We clarified over and over. 8 am. At 8:30 I called customer service and was told they were still 1 hour and 45 minutes out. Their watches must have been broken. They told me 8 am.

Here's the problem. I have to move in today. Not tomorrow. Today. I was very clear with the sales guy and the installers over and over. I have to bring a truck full of furniture and move it in today. Today, Empire today. I can't do that until your guys finish putting in the carpet. When you tell someone to their face you are going to do something at a particular time, people expect that you will keep your word and do it and they planned accordingly. I can't pick up my truck because someone has to be here. It's father's day. There are limited working hours because of the holiday. Why can't you be a man of your word and do what you agreed to do. 8 am was your choice. You said 8 am you would be here. I want some refund for this. My say is shot. I may have to take tomorrow off to get this done. I hope it's not like yesterday where 1 hour and 45 minutes turns into three hours or five.

We planned replacement of kitchen and bathroom tiles and carpet replacement our four room in our house. Contract was made with EMPIRE through salesperson FRANK **. Frank was very professional. He told us the work will finish in two days. Work was started as plan. Est. completion was 2/21/2017. Unfortunately work is not finished until now 6/17/2017. Carpet was completed in two days, we think work was fair. Nightmare started with ceramic tile work. Work area was not covered properly so the dust and concrete went to adjacent finished wood floor and damage it. Also dust went into ventilation system as vent area was not covered.

Empire employees were not looking very good professional. It was hard to communicate with them because of language barrier. They were not good in work.

Work was done incorrectly, floor is not level, tiles are up and down, spaces between tile varies, grout is missing a lot of areas and look different color. Grout is coming out in different area, household is tripping, there is danger of fall and injury. Door was not replace properly after work, they are hanging and there is space between door. They are not airtight, so drift of cold air coming inside from two outside door. Empire employees were walking on finished wood floor over the cement particles and damage the wood floor. Toilet is moving on floor. Two different color of tile were installed, they were removed multiple time and replaced. Poor quality of work was hallmark.

Frank and two inspector agreed that work is done incorrectly and reimbursement should be done. We call multiple time about more than 50 time to Empire customer service. Frank told us Kim is in-charge. We call her a lot. Two time I was able to talk with her. She committed to solve the issue after inspection. Lately we are still waiting for her response after three month. We are putting all options on table. Honestly we find Frank very honest and reasonable person but I have every reservation about Miss Kim. I strongly feel that me and my family has been disrespected, cheated and abuse. We are still in limbo after three month. Frank is still responding to our text and messages. According to him he is calling customer service and Kim every day. Per him she understand this case need to be resolve.

Multiple time me and my wife have to leave job and come to help them inspection and other things. We have been disrespected, discriminated, abuse and touchier by EMPIRE. We found them unreliable, dishonest, unprofessional and cheater. They have not tried sincerely to solve this issue. I honestly think they need to improve their business practice.

Empire Today's advertising is very misleading. To receive the much-advertised 50% off, you must choose one of only two options for engineered hardwood. To save money and because I was pressed for time, I chose one. The person who estimated the project and measured the premises gave me an estimate that did not tell me the square footage or specifically state that the foyer, hallway, and adjoining closets were included, although he assured me that they were.

No reasonable person would doubt my intent because the hall carpet was in terrible condition and the tiny foyer was clearly part of the living room. No plan was included with the estimate; if it had been, everything would have been clear to everyone. The company did not tell me that I had to pay for the entire job before the installer commenced, and he was irritated and left the site until I was able to call the company to give my credit card information. He was not happy to have to return. The installer then said that the foyer and its closet were not included in the job description and refused to do them until I called the company and paid an extra $120, which I did.

He left at the end of the afternoon without completing the hallway and its closet, saying that they too were not included in the estimate. I called Customer Service many times to get this resolved and to have the installer come back to finish the job, but no one ever returned my call. The job was time sensitive because someone would be on the premises to let the installer in for only a week, and I told that to Customer Service repeatedly. I asked for and was eventually transferred to a supervisor in the Atlanta area. I have not heard back from her and no longer expect to. No person connected with the project seemed to know what anyone else was doing. I've rarely had this bad an experience with any company. They have my money, and I seem to have no redress other than to complain online.

Empire Today was a little bit more expensive than others but we thought it's because of the reputation and bought a carpet from them. However, we had a little disappointment with the experience. We were really careful about picking the colors because we’re selling the house and we already have too many colors going on. We invited our realtor and the designer in to help us with the carpet and then we scheduled the appointment about a month in advance.

On the day of installation, we got people coming over with the carpet and they said that they didn't have the one that we picked so they brought a different carpet. It was not worse but the color scheme was not exactly what we were hoping for. We had no choice because we had other contractors lining up after that. It was not very pleasant and we did not get any compensation for it. So, we paid for the carpet that we didn’t choose. Also, we did not appreciate that we were not contacted before at all and we didn’t review other samples.

We called the salesperson and he said that unfortunately, there's nothing he can do right now and he cannot give us any concession. Then, somebody from customer review called and they had specific questions. I was trying to tell them our experience and they said that it's not the question they were asking. I just told them not to worry about it. I understand stuff happens but it was not that we installed the carpet the next day after talking to the salesperson. But the installation people were great. They stayed late until around 10:00 PM in order to finish in one day and that was good. They did a great job with the stairs and stuff so there was no problem with the quality of labor. The salesperson was wonderful as well.

We decided to use Empire for a fourth time this last weekend. We had great experiences the first two times. The third time, a small carpet installation was pretty bad. The crew was supposed to show up in the morning, I took off work and they never came. When trying to get in touch with someone we were given terrible service and the crew finally showed up at 8:00 that night! That was last year.

Fast forward to this weekend, we gave Empire another chance understanding that everyone makes mistakes and they really had done a great job in prior years. The project this weekend was a small one, about 100 square feet of LVT in two baths and laundry room. The crew ran out of product two days in a row. There is a buckling spongy spot in the middle of the floor, they didn't install the new toiled kits that we paid for, they tried to hide that they missed a corner in the closet, they broke transition strips, didn't rehang doors or baseboards, banged up the walls, and left our house completely trashed. This project which should have been completed in a day is now on day five and not completed. They will have to take yet another of our weekends.

In trying to contact Empire about it I was told someone would call me, never did. I had to hound the local St. Louis office and call up to ten times before someone finally got back to me. Voicemail boxes were full of course. The office seemed to not view my complaints as legit and acted like what is the big deal? When asked what Empire could do for us, I was told, "Well we have to pay another crew now to come fix it, so I don't know." How in the world is that our fault as the consumer? It should have been done right in the first two tries!

I feel as though the company lied to me every step of the way. The work was completely unprofessional and the service and reactions to our complaints have not been heard. We are to have one more project with Empire this upcoming weekend and I am praying it goes well. I highly recommend not using the St. Louis, MO Empire. Their apathy towards customer satisfaction is quite appalling, especially considering that we have spent almost $20,000 with the company. Terrible. DO NOT USE!

I looked online and at some local flooring spaces, but the wood that they were showing wasn’t quite what I was looking for. I didn't have a lot of time to go around shopping because I have a total care daughter, so it was a lot easier for me to go with the company that I’ve heard of throughout the years. Empire Today's commercial is always on TV and it’s easier to get the number there. I decided to call them and they had the 50-50 sale. So I tried to get a look at a deal I can get. We got the Homestead Grey Flannel Oak which was on the display, although on the packaging, it was Mohawk Frey Flannel. I chose it because the wood wasn't just flat unlike some laminates that are flat. Also, it had some indentions, like carvings into the wood to make it look more wood-like. We had Empire install the flooring in our family room, dining room, kitchen, hallway and my daughter’s bedroom.

I told the sales rep who came by that I wanted to have my daughter's room done first. We would have to move her because she can’t walk and she has a lot of supplies we have to use for her. Also, she gets tired as the day comes running. I’d rather for her to be back in her room and comfortable. And then they could finish the rest of the house. The installation was supposed to be scheduled for 11:00. The installer came earlier and I showed him what rooms were to be done. At that point, we had already moved my daughter out along with all of her equipment.

But the installer said that they can’t do her room first because when they get to the end of the hallway or went into the dining room, the wood might not line up right. I didn’t understand that, but I said OK. I thought it was going to be like an all-day job so I left with my son to go put the kids in the school but I was only eight minutes away and my daughter’s nurse was there. About two hours later, I called the nurse to ask how the floor was coming along. She said they haven’t started yet and that they've only been doing a lot of sanding. On our way back, the installer called and said that they were going to get ready to leave. I asked if the floor was done and he said it wasn't and that they'll come back tomorrow. He also told me that I didn't have to pay them until after they finished the job.

The installers left early and only did the middle section of the room they started in. I thought they would have at least finished that first room that day. From their commercial, you get your floor the next day. But that was such a small amount they did and they left that soon. Also, I stepped on some carpet nails because they had taken up the strip and they never put it back down because they never put the laminate in that little hallway closet. So I was a little unhappy about that.

They asked if I wanted the installers to come back or not. I said I wanted somebody else to come because it seemed to me that the ones who came didn’t do enough for one day and they left the place in a situation where I can stick myself and it was easy to trip. I had recently had my third surgery and I was still recovering, so I’m really scared about tripping coming out of my room. Empire had to work on getting another crew out here so that took about a week. The new crew came out and they did an excellent job. They worked really fast. It seemed like every time I came through, they were almost finished with a room. I was very satisfied with the second crew.

However, they never glued anything, so I got skeptical about my flooring. When it came, I saw Mohawk Grey Flannel, glueless laminate floor on the packaging. I questioned the sales rep if it was the right floor. The rep tried to convince me that it was the floor I ordered. He said Mohawk and Homestead are the same company. We were texting each other and I asked when he could come out to compare and tell me that the wood is not the same as the one I got, and he said it could be a week or so before he could come.

When I started talking to Empire, he wanted to come and bring more samples of wood for me to look at. He said we could get a different type of wood if I wasn’t happy. I was happy with my choice, but I didn't feel like I got what I chose. It’s got a different name and look. Even my family members agreed that the wood was different and was thinner than the other wood that I supposedly bought. The rep kept telling me that was the right wood. The flooring that I have has almost a yellow tone to it. The floor I picked was totally great. It was thicker and a four-click. The one I got fixed looked exactly like the two-click that they took up because my son put two planks together and they fit perfectly. I figured a four-click plank shouldn’t fit perfectly with a two-click. When I explained it to the rep, he said it’s supposed to fit perfectly because other companies mimic them. I didn’t like that answer.

Also, he told me nothing could get through the floor, but when my son was pouring a big tank of Windex into spray bottles, he made a mistake and the bottle fell. We quickly threw towels on the floor and it wasn’t like the Windex even had time to really sink in, but the floor had buckled. Because the floor was not glued, the solution went through so fast that I ended up paying an extra $150 for the installers to come back out and redo that part of the floor. That was very disappointing. I could see the wetness inside of the wood that they had taken off. The rep tried to explain that the floor was water resistant but not chemical resistant. Windex is something people use all throughout their homes to do their mirrors and doors. I don’t understand why Windex can do such damage to a floor in a matter of seconds. I’m unhappy. The floor looks great, but I’m tipping around trying not to spill anything.

If I felt comfortable with the durability, then I would feel more comfortable with going on to my daily duties, but I got to give it up because I don’t want to pay $150 to redo some floor I just spent $6,700 on. I feel like I was cheated out of the flooring because I know what I saw and felt and I know what I got. If I’m paying for something more expensive and I’m getting a 50-50 off, I should get the more expensive floor, not the one that the money balanced it out with. If I’m going to get a $12,000 floor and I’m going to pay $6,000 for this $12,000 floor, I want a $12,000 floor for $6,000 ‘cause it’s 50-50. I don’t want to get messed around and get a $6,000 when I’m paying $6,000. I’m not getting the deal at all. I wouldn’t recommend Empire Today to my friends and family because of the experience I had.

Had six rooms of carpet installed two years ago. Three of the rooms are buckling and lumpy. Empire charging me over $300 to fix. They claim the carpeting relaxed and needs to be stretched. I have asked multiple people who have had previous carpeting installed and no one has ever heard of this. They even insinuated that perhaps my air conditioning has not been on. I live in South Florida... the air conditioning runs at 75° 24/7. Carpeting was either not installed properly or is an inferior product. Either way, Empire pass the expense onto the customer after only two years. This is ridiculous. I will never use this company again. I do not recommend Empire.

In January we contacted Empire Today to have tile installed in our living room, dining room and connecting hallways. When the crew arrived, no one spoke English which made it extremely difficult for the crew to understand anything we were trying to convey. The second day they failed to arrive and we didn't get a call from Empire until several hours later telling us the crew's truck broke down. Then the third day they didn't arrive until well after noon and rushed through the job in order to complete it that day which by the way they didn't leave until after 8:30 pm. Because it was dark outside we didn't see the damage they had done to our lawn with cement.

The next day we contacted Empire and also sent them numerous pictures of tile, grout and damage issues to our lawn and driveway. A second crew, this time who could speak English fixed the grout issues we had. Unfortunately we still have uneven tile here and there and because furniture has been put back would be a problem trying to fix. The next we had tile installed in our lanai which was done beautifully by the second crew. Now I am having grout coming out from the outside doorway and the tile in my lanai. I tried contacting Empire by email and phone but no luck. I need to have this grout fixed right away.

Empire Today’s price was close to prices of other brands but it wasn’t about the price that made me go with them. It was about the quality of their carpet. I have very soft and sensitive feet, and I don’t like to walk with shoes. So, as soon as I come in through my home, I take off my shoes but I don’t like to walk across on just a flat carpet. I like a plush carpet and that’s what I purchased from Empire and I'm satisfied with it. The representative was awesome and gracious and had a personality to go along with my sense of humor, so we got along good through the process of choosing and taking my time going through his portfolio of carpets that he brought to me. The process wasn’t difficult because I already knew what I was looking for.

The installation team composed of young men came in and didn’t goof around when they came to lay the carpet. They got straight to work in both residences. They installed a wall to wall carpet all throughout the home plus in the kitchen and bathroom and I was pleased with the outcome. And I have plenty of carpet left over. Then in a few weeks, I will be calling back Empire to make an appointment for the drapes because I needed a window treatment as part of my home renovation. Overall, Empire Today is good and their staff is courteous and professional. If one wants good quality carpet, I’d recommend them to go with Empire.

I had used Empire several years ago for carpeting. I told them about the chemical sensitivity so they brought a special kind of padding. They were prompt and did a good job. I was very happy with the services and the carpet was of good quality. I went with Empire again to get carpet installed in my two bedrooms, a hallway and stairs. I had a 5:00 appointment and the salesman got to my house. I was going to look at both the carpet and hardwood. First, we looked at the hardwood but I didn’t get to choose any of the hardwoods. It took him a very long time to just get the measurements. He kept messing up and his computer kept messing up as well. So the hardwood took two hours.

So now it's 7:00 at night and I'm tired. I asked him about the carpet and told him I was looking for silvery gray. He pointed out a product to me and said that it's a very good carpet. I’ve talked about the chemicals and he showed me it was green. I asked for the price and he said that he's the only salesman who would be able to give me a price that's the same as the 20-year old carpet. I asked for the price again and he said $3,200, but he stuttered on the two. I had $3,000 in my mind but I'd go $200 for the better quality although it was really high-priced.

Now, it's 8:00 at night, he took my credit card and he said he'd put 10% on my credit card. I signed different things and policies but there's nothing about any dollar value on it on his computer. He said that that would come to my email. Then he ran through the computer stuff at the end explaining what I was signing. But I didn't check my email. He seemed trustworthy and I knew what we agreed on. But when the installers got here, the cost wound up to be $3,900. I was not very happy about that. I knew exactly what number he said and there's a big difference between a two and a nine. At $3,900, I could have taken hardwood into all those areas which was really what I wanted to do anyway. The 10% charge was $390 which I didn't see because it was in the email. I felt like he sized me up as a single woman, still uses her flip phone, and probably not very tech savvy and not really going to look at the email. I got ripped off and I will not use Empire again.

But the installers were very nice, polite and respectful. They cleaned up and did a good job. It's a good carpet but there was a terrible smell that is coming out of it that’s making me sick. The salesman showed me that it was green but I'm not sure if the padding is. I've had headaches so I had to open the windows.

Also, I had tried to get the same salesman to come back and we'd look at the flooring. The salesman had an appointment with me directly, not through the company, but he never showed up. I called Empire about it and I was told that the salesman was not allowed to do that. So, they had him call me instead. We discussed the issue of the pricing of the carpet. I said there was one product that I had a little interest in and I wanted to take a look at that. He said to call through the company, which I did.

Then they sent out a different salesman and he's the general area district manager. He asked me what was the problem with the other salesman. He told me that the salesman has had a couple of other complaints and I explained my experience to him briefly. I also talked to a woman on the phone and explained to her the situation. She said she was going to write up a complaint but nobody from that company has ever called me to ask me what the problem was and how it could be fixed. That really didn't sit well with me.

A friend recommended that I call Empire for a quote. I have tried to schedule Empire 3 times in the last 5 weeks. The first time they scheduled for 1-3pm. I had to take 4 hours off of work to be home. They said I wasn't home and didn't answer the door. I was there. I checked my camera and there was a car in our court, but no one came to my door.

I let them reschedule for the next Thursday again, I took time off of work. I got a call the night before that the rep was sick and they needed to reschedule but could not do it until the next Thursday. I didn't lose my hours at work that time. The third time I scheduled for 3:00-5:00pm the next Thursday. I got a call at 2:45pm that they overbooked the rep and he couldn't come. I would have to reschedule again. Then, I was shocked that I got this email saying that they had been to my house and would like to discuss my quote with me. When I tried to reply back right away, I got this: "I will be out of the office the rest of this weekend and reply to messages as soon as possible. I apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you!" All I wanted were new floors.

We had the rugs and padding installed in the master bedroom and the spare bedroom. The rug was what we were looking for. It was more comfortable than some rugs and we like the style. It wasn’t the cheapest, but it wasn’t the most expensive either. It was in the middle. The installers were great. They showed up on time, didn’t make a mess, took away the old rug and moved the furniture that had to be moved. It was an easy experience and everything went great for us. I was assured that Empire could do this at a extra charge which I agreed to. A week prior to installation I called Empire and spoke to Joanna and she assured me the plywood subfloor would be installed and the installation was scheduled for 06/10/2017. Empire called me on 06/05/2017 and confirmed my appointment and again was told the plywood subfloor would be installed and the new flooring on top of that. The installer arrived at my home about 8 am today and stated he was confused about the plywood. I told him he was suppose to lay a plywood subfloor and he said he would have to call someone.

He made the call and stated they would call him back. Instead of calling the installer Jeremy called me back and stated they didn't do subfloor work. I told him I had 3 different people to tell me they could and would, he stated he was sorry I was misinformed. I was LIED to. I also gave them a large down payment and when I called to cancel the job I asked that this money be refunded to me immediately. I was told it would be 10-15 days before I had my money back. I've been doing construction and reconstruction as a project manager for 15 years. I have a rental property that I was refurbishing so I called Empire Today to come and do both the carpet and padding in the bedroom. The salesperson was really thorough and he said the payment was going to be due at the time of completion but that's now how it went. Empire wanted 100% of the payment before starting the job. I was told that it's on my contract and I replied that I signed about 18 pages on an iPad in two seconds but I could get past that. They need to be much clearer about those stipulations before they do the job. In my experience, I have never paid for a job 100% in full before something is installed ever. That needs to be in big blinking light on the top of their contract.

They did the job but there was one room we couldn't do since all the work equipment was in that room. So I called back two months later and told them I needed the same sales rep to come out because I need to order the exact same carpet to make sure that it gets installed in the room. They sent the same salesperson out and I have to manually sign everything since the iPad wasn't working. The original installers came, pulled up the carpet and I told them that it's not the right carpet. They told me that they're there to do the installation and I have to do a claim. It was very similar to what the sales guy had told me that Empire stands behind their product 100%, that no matter what the problem is, they'll fix it.

While they're installing it, I called and filed a claim. I said that the installers were in the house and I gave them my credit card but they had the wrong carpet. I made sure that I got the same sales guy out here to pull my previous order to ensure I get the same carpet but it wasn't. That was on the 17th of March. The guy said that I have to sign to say that he has completed his job. I had already filed the claim so I signed saying the job was completed.

I kept calling in every two days until two days ago but no one will ever call me back on this claim. So, I had to escalate to managers. They told me I signed the paper and said everything was okay and they're not replacing the carpet. “Too bad" is what they told me. Every time I would even open my mouth, they would say, "It was in the contract you signed." Then they said to take them to court. Also, when I called to get the second piece of carpet, the manager on the line told me that I signed off on the colored carpet. I told him that the sales guy didn't bring samples, that's why I had the same guy. I trusted the salesperson who apparently ordered the wrong stuff. Then the manager said, “You signed the paper.” I almost went through the roof. It was a $550 mistake that a lot of people can't afford.

I will never ever refer them and never ever use them again. Now, I'm going to have to replace the carpet because it's not the same as the rest of the house. It was a standard construction-grade carpet that I would not put in my own house. I've lost the month on putting the house on the market waiting for them to respond to my claim. My experience has been terrible.

Flooring Clarion Global View Ash: Nonstop problems from the start. Our salesman was great however we were misquoted the price by thousands of dollars which Empire tried VERY hard to make us pay for. Supposedly there were fees unaccounted for. Seemed like every day the installers had me on the phone renegotiating the price. This also extended the installation from 2-3 days to 5 days. There was also a landing to be done that was never done. The flooring is NOT water resistant as it claimed to be and because of the glare the floor NEVER looks clean. The floor started to bubble within a few weeks of installation even in areas with no water or moisture. We have had the warranty company out twice and the floor was deemed faulty. Great right? Wrong!

Now to get an upgraded floor, Empire wants to charge us the same price we paid for our original floor. We initially looked into the "upgraded" floor and was NOT $7,500 MORE than the floor we pick out. We feel it would be fair to pay the difference between the old floor materials (only) and the new floor materials (only). Hey Empire, I looked and the price of your so called upgrade is only $1.99 per square foot. So I was way overcharged for the faulty flooring in the first place. I keep being told that the 5882300 is their corporate office number which gets you nowhere. I've encountered plenty of rude people but never from a corporate office. Good luck in your dealings with Empire.

My experience was horrible. The installer showed up 5 hours late the first day. With it being a kitchen and 2 bathroom installs, there should have been 2 installers. They only sent one because Empire didn't have the paperwork right. The 1 installer spent the entire day trying to tear up the kitchen floor then realized after 4 hours of tearing up the floor that the floor was too difficult to get up, then realized the plywood was the wrong size that was given to him, by then the warehouse was closed. His help arrived around 6 pm, started on the main bathroom, then kept pulling the tile up. When they laid it down and pulled it up twice then put it back down it looked like crap! So the following day it was pulled up and reinstalled again.

The manager was called to my home and he explained that they cannot leave a job unfinished, but then said since the wrong size plywood was given, they couldn't complete the kitchen that was all pulled up and that I needed to reschedule. I rescheduled to 8 am the following morning and no installer showed. By 10:30 am no one showed so I called and was told I had been rescheduled to the next day, without my knowledge. I spoke to management and they sent someone out right away and of course it was the same one guy.

He spent from 11 am to 10 pm on my kitchen then completed laying the tile in my bathroom and around 10 help showed to do the grout and trim. They didn't leave my home until midnight. To make matters worse, they still never even touched the 2nd bathroom so I just told them to cancel it off the order and I would find someone else to complete the job.

Management contacted me several days later and said they would contact me in a few days to come up with a resolution and 2 weeks has gone by and still haven't heard from them. I called today and no one seems to know what I'm talking about and claim they will have management contact me. I even reached out to the sales manager a week ago to check the status (he had been very helpful throughout the entire process although now he hasn't returned my call). In all, their service is horrible, their installers are horrible, everything with my order was miscommunicated, and management does not respond. I would never, ever use Empire again or recommend them to anyone.

On June 2, 2017 Empire came out to install Laminate in my family room and Breakfast area. When they arrived I mentioned to the worker that I had noticed a leak around the window seal and told them that I just wanted to let them know just in case it would present a problem. They started moving furniture and just putting it all over. I mentioned to the worker that the salesman told me that they would move the furniture in stages, which did not happen.

Then they begin ripping up the carpet. After ripping up most of the carpet the worker told me that he needed to do a moisture test. The moisture test detected moisture in 2 very small areas by the window where I told him that I had noticed the leak by the window seal. The floor was not wet but the equipment used detected moisture. So he told me that they would not be able to lay the laminate that day because we would have to let the area breathe. I was okay with that because he said that if they put the flooring down and there was moisture the laminate would buckle up and would need to be replaced. I definitely did not want that to happen. He said they would come back on Monday morning to complete the job.

It rained super hard all day Saturday and Sunday so I decided to call Empire to let them know about the rain and about the leak. I had questions of what would happen now because I had already paid them $3000.00 and they had ripped most of my carpet up. The customer service person that I spoke to could not answer any questions for me. I asked to speak to a supervisor. He said he could only give me a file number and have a supervisor call me back within 24 hrs. The file # he gave me: **. That was Sunday, I waited until Tuesday to call back giving them the opportunity to call me within the window that I was given but no one called. Again I was told that I could not speak with a supervisor and was giving another File # **. Again no call back.

After another 24 hrs I called back and explained what happened again and asked for Empire Corporate number. The attendant told me that she could not give me the corporate customer service number. She stated that all she could do was give me another file # even though I told her that I already had 2. 3rd file # **. I Googled the # for Empire Corporate office but was unable to get through. I have tried to be patient with them but will not sit still and allow them to treat me in this manner. I am 58 years old and have never in my life experienced service this horrible. Empire should be ashamed of themselves. They have $3,000.00 of my money, did not do any work in my house except to rip up my carpet and leave my house in disarray. And not have the decency to talk to me about the situation.

I will not stop until someone talk to me and give my money back, no one have returned any of my phone calls. Today is Thursday June 8 and the service was scheduled to be done on Friday June 2. My money have already been deducted from my account and no service has been done and they still have all their materials. What kind of people does this??? IT IS NOT OVER BY A LONG SHOT!

I ended up just doing the living room and hallway... for now. Installation was done two days later by Ever and Michael (Installers #**). We are in the process of having our entire house recarpeted. The purchase process went fine... But today when the install was to take place it did not happen. Our sales rep told us that they would send a large crew because we have a lot in our house. A crew of only 2 men showed up and told me we had too much on our home and they could not do the job. I cannot express my disappointment. Obviously the sales and installation departments are not on the same page. We can't just take all our personal belongings and place them outside. I have rescheduled our install, but wonder if we will be disappointed again.

Sales rep showed up on May 12th and seemed very professional so we set a installation date paid our 10% upfront and thought this would be effortless. Installers show up on May 18th and notifies my fiance the sales rep measured wrong and they do not have enough material to complete the entire job. The installer says, "We have enough for the kitchen and dining area but not enough for the laundry closet... but we can come back and finish at another time." My fiance agrees and the kitchen/dining area were completed but not the laundry closet. Installers said, "We will submit a ticket and notify you within 24-72 hours to schedule a date to come back."

After 5 days I called customer service and was told, "We will notify you within 3 days." Never received a call after 4 more days so I called customer service and was told the same thing again "We will call you within 24-48 hours to resolve the issue". Never received a call so I called customer service today for the 3rd time. This is what I was told, "We are unable to reach the local installer office. We will send them a email and call you within 24 hours". Really this is how you treat a customer? Funny how they can reach you every day leading up to a scheduled appointment but after they receive your money it is impossible to receive a solution. I have been more than patient and feel like at this point I have been scammed.

I went straight to Empire Today figuring they were the Cadillac of flooring. They installed laminate flooring in my home. I called them for repairs and everybody came out and they were pleasant. The only problem I'm having and I've already had to place one service call to them was the seams on the steps. The flooring was constantly coming apart. I had them to come once before to do a service request and I need to put in another one because it's becoming creased again. As the flooring gets ready to curve over into the next step, it leaves an opening like it separates from the actual lip of the step to the actual flat flooring. It keeps on creasing where one can see the actual tan of the wood showing that it had separated. Empire Today sent the gentleman to come and fix it. But over a period of time, I look down as I'm going down and I can see the creases open.

My overall experience is good but it could be better. I went to them hoping that I'd have no problem but I still have this reoccurring problem. Also, they are the Cadillac of the flooring industry but they do the subcontracting to different people. Some of the contractors are not meeting the standard because the person that installed the stairs was upset when I asked him to come back. That would misrepresent Empire being the Cadillac of the flooring industry if their contractors are subpar. But the second guy who came and installed was friendly. He even came back when I called him with no problem.

On January 17, 2017 three were installed with Ocean Villa Brazilian Cherry Hardwood Floor. After one month of installation the floors began to crack and lift in the center of the floor. After numerous complaints the company decided to send two inspectors. One worked with the company and the other one is outside inspector. I went to the office of State Senator Ruben Diaz and informed them of my problem with the company. After several phone calls and finally speaking to a supervisor. I was informed that the problem was not the material but a problem with the humidity. Floors were installed in the middle of winter and no one is living in the apartment at the time. All repairs are being done before anyone can move in. During the winter season the boiler is on to keep the apartment warm.

The company never called or sent a letter explaining the results of the inspection. The cost of flooring and installation is $6900 dollars and there is a one year warranty. Instead of treating me like their customer I am being treated like a pest. I am a disabled amputee with a prosthetic leg. The floor must be flat and leveled otherwise I will fall. I have not been able to move into the apartment because of this. After speaking to a supervisor I really do not feel that I am being treated fairly.

I considered other companies, but when the Empire salesman showed up, he was very thorough and I was impressed with him. I was looking for a long-wearing flooring and had the industrial carpeting installed in the basement of our home. It looks good. In fact, the installation crew was so good I’ve asked for them again and we’ve ordered more carpeting, which is coming on July 23rd.

When the installers came, their first procedure was to get my payment. But the separate subsidiary company Empire hired to verify checks told the young fella that my check was not good. They asked me and my husband for our driver’s licenses and said they were invalid. They are very ignorant. I took out a bank account specifically for the remodeling of our downstairs and Empire was not the only one I paid. I went to my bank and they were surprised because this was a home equity line and all my other checks went through. Also, there was nothing wrong with my driver’s license or my husband’s, which was renewed in April. They made the young fellas stand for over an hour and that really angered me because they don’t get paid unless they’re working. That company delayed the whole process.

I couldn’t believe what we went through. It finally dawned on me to use my credit card, which I did, but that alone is going to turn people off. I’m 72 years old and I’ve never had someone tell me that my check was not good or that my driver’s license was invalid. If it wasn’t for Empire's crew, I would have told them to keep the carpet. That’s how disgusted I was with how long we were on the phone with that company. Making me stand on the telephone for over an hour and undergoing that embarrassment was totally unacceptable. When we rebought, I told the salesman to tell his superiors about that company because they’re gonna lose their business. But I know Empire had nothing to do with that but they should get rid of that company. Empire was very professional and we’ve had a very good experience.

So the two guys that came out for this job should be commended.

We had Empire Today put carpeting in our bedroom and a number of years back I had the living room rug put in by them as well. Before, when I was looking for somebody, I found out that Empire was the best and when I found out that they always did a good job, were always honest and were very good installers I wanted to keep going to them.

I love the rug they put it and I like that the new carpeting is so nice and soft. It's nice walking on it with bare feet. Also, the installers always did a nice job and were always friendly and kind. And I don’t have to worry about them coming in with dirty shoes unlike with people I've worked before who don’t care how they do their job. I can always trust Empire and their work is always done nicely and taken cared of properly. It's a very good experience with them and I’d recommend them to a friend.

I had carpeting installed in my living room, hallway and bathroom. I like the softness and richness of it. Also, the reps were very polite, efficient and quick. Overall they did a great job.

This issue has been resolved quite favorably. I would suggest that any issues with empire be taken all the way up their "chain of concern" until you receive satisfaction. My compliments to CORPORATE customer service who were professional and direct in ensuring customer satisfaction....it is because of the way my issue was handled, I will continue to recommend their product.

Vendor scheduled installers to come 5/3. Upon installers arrival they indicated that they could not do the job because they "didn't have enough carpet due to wrong measurements." I communicated the installers' observation to the vendor who adamantly defended his measurements. Installers could not locate manager after many phone attempts. Installers stated they would come back Monday. So far they have NOT arrived. Empire has destroyed my weekend and had to use an annual leave day where both represent a financial loss. Compensation/restitution would be in order. Depending upon outcome, I will determine if I would recommended Empire since it was recommended to me.

The salesperson was extremely helpful and has brought samples so I didn’t have to go to a showroom. The crew was exceptional. They had to maneuver through stairwells, hallways, and cramped spaces, but they were cheerful and helpful. The flooring has only been in about a month, but I like it. They'll be coming back out today to complete the carpet on the stairs and get started on the hardwood. So far so good. They're very professional.

We had laminate flooring installed in my kitchen and down my stairs. I had seen Empire advertised on television and they were having that 50 sale. So, I decided to call them and when they came in, they explained everything to me and I decided to go with them. They have a very good selection and they had exactly what I wanted. I got the Oak and it was my favorite because it matched my cabinets and I have a fireplace that is oak-finished, my set-in door casings and my doors. It matched everything in my house.

My interactions with their rep were very good. The cost was right in the ballpark of what we had expected to pay. The people that did the work were very good as well. They were willing to compromise on the things that we were not pleased with and gave us the best quality that they could. We were very pleased with their work as well as our floor right now. Plus the quality of the flooring is holding up very well.

We had engineered vinyl tile installed in the kitchen. Compared to other brands, Empire Today was right on par. They had some pretty big discounts going on at the time. The price point was comparable but even then, it was probably my cheapest option for install. My favorite part was that I didn't have to put it in. Plus, they volunteered to put the trim in if I bought it and that was a big selling point for me.

They only messed up on the transition piece that goes from my dining room to my kitchen. I asked for a stainless steel transition and they put a gold one in. It is very different but it's not something that's hard to fix and it's really not a big deal. I'm perfectly happy. I like it's durability and the ease of install. It didn't have to involve tearing up the old flooring. All in all, the experience was great, professional and fast.

I was told by phone, text, and email by my salesman that I had an appointment between 9 and 9:30 this morning. At 10 am, we called to see if the installer had an e.t.a. I was informed that I had an appointment between 2 and 4. When the installation coordinator double checked my paperwork, he confirmed that I had the 9 am appointment... but there was nothing he could do. I would have to wait until the 2-4 window. My brother, who was waiting outside the building to give access to the installer, was an hour late getting to work because of this. No call from Empire. Nothing.

Now, my 75 year old mother goes to wait for the installer, to let him into the building. (I won't bore you with why I wasn't there, waiting for the installer. I have a 2 year old daughter and all that comes with that. The appointment time change made it impossible.) It gets to be around 3:45 or so, and I start calling Empire. No answer at any number. I leave messages, of course.

Finally, a little after 4 pm (too late to start a job in a residential building), I get a call from a clueless call center guy that the installer will not be there at all. No more explanation than that. This guy can only relay a message. Not talk remedy for the colossal waste of time. This is the first email of its kind I can ever remember writing. I am not much of a complainer, and I recognize that people have a job to do. Sometimes, stuff happens. But the utter disregard for the customer's time or feelings in this particular case motivated me to write something. A warning, really. Do business with Empire Today Carpet at your own risk. The vinyl was installed a day late and improperly installed. The hall was not leveled correctly and now there is numerous bubbles. Also was promised a return in a week to complete the transitions, which never happened. For the next 2 months we contacted Empire in Baton Rouge on a weekly basis and was promised install dates for repairs and carpet in bedroom. They always had excuses and promised it would be completed the following day. It then got to the point that they never called again, so we demanded our deposit back as the contract had been void and null.

Then they tried to pay us 3200 dollars and we had to argue with them that we only put 500 dollars down. We are on the outskirts of New Orleans and we will never recommend this company. They originally applied the 500 dollars to the improperly installed vinyl and was not giving us anything. So now we have cheap looking flooring and need to start over by pulling up everything that has been done, move breakables and furniture. Which we did each time they promised to install and repair.

On May 8th an Empire salesman came to our home. I wanted laminate or engineered hardwood that would match our downstairs existing engineered hardwood. We found an acceptable match of laminate and even decided to have it installed in our master bedroom even though it maxed out our budget. The installers arrived on May 13. The 1st thing that we were told was that the supplies needed for the stairs would not be in until the following Tuesday. They also collected the entire payment for our flooring. They installed the laminate in the master and hallway - leaving "temporary" moulding and made modifications to our door jams & top stair in preparation for the rest of the install. They left telling us that we would get a call when the rest of the flooring came in on Tuesday and they could return that week to finish the install.

We received no call so a call was placed to Empire and after much confusion - We were told that the installers would come an May 19th to finish. On May 18 we got a call from our salesman saying that the laminate that we picked out could not be put on the stairs!! He would come by the next day to bring samples to find a match for the stairways. On May 19 our salesman brought samples of hardwood that did not even come close to a match. Our options were to pay 1/2 of the cost of the hardwood ($3600 to be split with the salesman contribution) because he admitted that he made the mistake - or to put carpet on the stairs. We did not agree to either option and were told that a manager from Empire would be calling to resolve the problem. We never received a call.

On May 22 we called customer service and again confusion. We requested to have an installation manager come out to our home. On 5/23 the installation manager came & we looked at more samples - engineered hardwood this time that was a closer match. We were told that the cost would be $5000 extra!! The only other she gave us was carpet. This was not acceptable and we asked that we either get the stairs done to our satisfaction and no extra cost or we want all of our money refunded - that Empire could remove what they had already installed and we would start over with another company. The manager said that she would give this message to corporate.

On 5/26 still no call from corporate. We placed a call to customer service and we were told that we would get a response in 24 hours. No call received - on 5/27 another call was placed. We were told due to the holiday weekend we would not get a call until 5/30 - no call received so on the evening of 5/30 another call was placed. We were told that we would get a response 1st thing in the morning. On 5/31 around noon another call was placed to customer service. We were told that we would get a response that afternoon. At 7pm one last call was made to customer service. He said that the manager (Lori **) has been assigned to the issue but they stop returning calls after 4. I asked if I should start with legal proceedings and he said to do what I have to do to get the issue resolved.

So - Empire has over $6800 of ours & we don't have our flooring. They don't even have the decency to return our calls or to try to resolve their mistake. Don't let this happen to you! Empire is only concerned with getting your money and then you can forget about their customer service afterwards. At this point we have no choice but to put out more money to hire a lawyer.

We hired Empire Today to replace vinyl in three bathrooms. The salesman was great, the vinyl looked good and the salesman reassured us the installers they hire were the best. First lesson learned. Empire Today is a BROKER... as a consumer you have no idea who you're getting for installers so you can't look for reviews or references.

Two men, only one could speak English, and a truck came and tried to convince us not to remove the baseboards and the old ripped linoleum. Major communication issues with broken English and what we had requested which was to have the installers remove the baseboards and remove old ripped vinyl. I wanted the vinyl put in properly as we requested. They removed the baseboards and some of the old vinyl. I was left with 1/4 of the baseboards broken and clumsily put back together, my bedroom carpeting with some kind of stains, one bathroom door doesn't open and close over the two layers of vinyl.

They also did not know how to remove our toilets, spilling gallons of water everywhere and one toilet had to be fixed and one of their staples left behind got embedded in my heel. When I called to complain and request some kind of compensation I was met with no apologies, very unconcerned, and told it was in my 4 page contract that if damages occur it's mine to deal with.

Bottom line the company sells a good product but you have no knowledge of the experience of the installers. I will never use or recommend Empire Today... be aware consumers... after spending $2,000. I was left with the expense of new baseboards, a new door, carpet cleaning and my husband fixed the toilet... and the company doesn't care.

    Updated review: Feb. 13, 2018

So a supervisor / manager did contact me shortly thereafter. He apologized for the experience and let me know I could contact him at any time to work out a fair arrangement.

I procrastinated on getting the floor done for almost a year, and didn't still have his information, as I thought I wouldn't want to go to Empire when I did decide to get my floor done.

But in thinking about that final offer of $2,000, I decided that wasn't over priced with underlayment and labor to go along with the viynl flooring.
And it would just be less hassle than buying the materials and finding cheaper labor or doing it myself.

Plus, I did not realize Empire provides a lifetime warranty on the product, which is very comforting.

So I had a new Empire consultant out yesterday, and explained our situation and experience the first time.

He laughed and nodded as he understood the entire process we went through and showed us step by step on his tablet how it works.

    Very nice guy.

Showed us how it tells him to first ask for the first price we were qouted ($6,700), and worked it's way down to $2,000 in exactly the same manner.

I still think it's pretty shady how much the company tries to over charge initially, but think our final offer is a very fair deal after all.

I'm having them out this morning to finally get my floor installed.

I will not update again unless there is bad service, otherwise know everything went smoothly, as I think it probably will.

Changing rating from 1 star to 4.

Just know not to get grossly over charged.

    Original Review: May 28, 2017

I wanted to get a estimate about vinyl flooring for my basement and carpeting for the stairs. The salesman seemed nice enough, and I realize he is trying to make a living. But Empire advertises free in home estimates. Well after he measured the square footage and showed us some samples, that's when he got ugly. First he quoted us a ridiculous price of $6,700 to do the 300 square foot basement. When I said, "Okay, well I had no idea what it would cost, and Empire won't give me a rough idea over the phone, so I made the appointment for the free estimate, but that is way out of my price range". So he said, "How much were you looking to spend?" I said, "I had no idea in mind, but was hoping to be down in the $1,000 range at the most."

He then acted like he was getting permission from his boss on the phone to "give me a great deal". Said he could offer me a 68% discount, totaling $2,400 with a no interest payment plan. I apologized for wasting his time, but told him sorry, I just can't afford it. He repeated he get permission from his boss show and offered me the same deal at a total of $2,000. Both times, these deals were contingent upon me signing up now. Because he's doing me a huge favor, and time is money, and my dad saying that we should not sign because the materials and labor add up to much less still. The salesman, "Kirk", got frustrated and used the term old school to basically convey that my dad is an old timer who doesn't understand the way the business works now.

My dad convinced me not to sign. I thought I was being offered a great deal. He told me, "Anytime they say this price is only good if you sign now, do not do it." That convinced me finally not to be swayed into signing. The sign now only deal then became available for the rest of the day, as Kirk realized he wasn't going to get me to sign, then the deal became available at any time, "just for me". I went with my dad to Home Depot after, found the same flooring I liked at 90 cents a square foot with his senior discount off of a dollar a square foot. So between the flooring, the primer, matting for under the flooring... materials will run me around $350.

So my question to Kirk and Empire Carpeting would be, first the labor was going to be $6,350, then $2,050, then $1,650. Even at $1,650 for installing 300 square feet of vinyl flooring, you are grossly trying to rip your customers off. I thought calling such a well established company that has been in business for so long would not have been such a disturbing experience. Which is why I'm surprised to see so many great reviews for Empire. I called several places, but Empire Today was the only one that talked to me on a Saturday afternoon and scheduled a person to come out Monday. Everybody else waited until Monday or Tuesday to even call me back. I had hardwood installed in my master bedroom. It was in our price range and they could do it in the timeframe that we needed. The color is great and they're easy upkeep. They're better than my original hardwood in the rest of my house and they were factory finished unlike the others.

The people we worked with were very professional and the guys that came in were very nice and worked on what they needed to do and got it done. It was a good experience. A lot of times when you're putting in hardwood, you have insulation under it, but our garage doesn’t have any. Naturally if you're putting in hardwood and you're putting in nails, there were splinters everywhere, and I showed that to the installer. But he said, “No problem. We can still sweep this. We'll clean it up before we leave.” And they did.

We had carpets and wood flooring installed on the main floor of our home by Empire Today. It was a nightmare and there were big mistakes from the get-go. The wires were crossed and installing it should have only taken a weekend. Instead, we had to wait three or four weeks. Nevertheless, Empire corrected everything and I was happy. Moreover, the guy who installed it did an awesome job. We like that our flooring is easy to clean and that it looks good.

I had Empire Today put laminate flooring in my landing, stairs, hallway, and little kitchen area. I purchased from them last September and I wanted the rest to match. However, the way they put the stairs together was different than how they did it in September with the other stairs and they’re already coming apart. Also, Empire didn’t call before they came and they said they would. It was a two-day project, but they didn’t tell me about that either. Other than that, I love the product and the way it looks.

I am a repeat customer of Empire. I have had a complete home done in carpet with them in the past. I was very happy. Was being the key word here. I recently had them come out to give me an estimate for two rooms in the same carpet just in a different color. All seemed good during the sales portion. We decided on a high end carpet being that we were only doing two rooms. The delivery time and install went good up until the second room was being installed. This is where everything started to go bad. The installers noticed that the first room the carpet seemed more plush that the lighter around room. I heard them talking about it in Spanish. I asked the installer if it was the same carpet, he replied that it was. He did not know that I understood Spanish. He finished up and was vacuuming the second room when he told me that I now noticed that it did look like a cheaper carpet. In my mind I'm thinking cheap rental home carpet.

The yarn was noticeably shorter by a good 1/4 inch. Both rooms had Empire's highest recommended padding. I was not happy with the carpet in the second room at all. They called and set up a follow up visit from the sales department. He came out a week or so later. We came to the conclusion that it was in fact a lesser quality carpet but that it was what was sold to me. I strongly disagreed. The sales guy told the problem back to Empire to resolve the problem. It took me calling back to see what was going to be done. I had to leave a message. That was 3 months ago. I have been calling and leaving messages (4 in total with no response). For now I will leave that person's name out.

Other than calling BBB and Empire Carpet Corp I'm not sure what to do. I ran across ConsumerAffairs and thought I would see if I get a response before I go that route. So for anyone reading this buyer beware. I know they can do better at resolving customer problems. I think I am just not a priority for them now. I think, they think, I'm going away. I hope someone gets in contact with me. So as of now they get only 1 star until they resolve this issue with me.

I have a relative who is in the carpeting business who promised for 10 years to do it and he never did. Then Empire was having this big sale, so I had them install carpeting in my living room and two bedrooms. The cost was fine and the installers came in and did it exactly when they said they were going to do. They were very quick, efficient and got the whole thing done in just a few hours. However, I was not happy with the color. A lady came with several samples and I was down on my hands and knees trying to match it with the tile. I had one that matched but after they put it in, in a different light, it didn’t match what I wanted though it goes with the paneling and it’s in there now so I learned to love it.

Another thing is that it happened so fast and I felt really pressured. The lady said if I didn’t do it today then, I wouldn’t get the sale. And my daughter was not here to help me so I did it. The sale was still on a few days later so they should’ve given me a couple of days to think about it and give me the same deal. That's the thing I didn't like. If I recommend it to somebody, I would tell them, “If you’re gonna call Empire, don’t let them rush you into it. Don’t let them say, ‘If you don’t do it today, you don’t get the discount,’ ‘cause it’s not true, I found out.”

All carpeting is stain-resistant now and the padding is good up underneath it. We spilled a few things on the carpet and if we clean it up soon enough, the stains come up. Overall, there’s always bumps along the way doing this kind of project but everything came out in the end the way that we wanted and planned.

Original appointment rescheduled to June 3, 2017. Both parties agreed to the date. The only exception was told I would lose the 50.00 discount due to being over 30 days from original date. I agreed reluctantly, but I did change the scheduling date. The worse to come was notified by voicemail as of three days prior to installation date that the order was placed closed due to the length of time regarding the original date to install carpet. Spoke with supervisor Clarissa. Refused to give the last name. Clarissa Instructed me to reschedule to a later date.

The date of sales that I received originally, would expire on 6/11/2017. Keeping this in mind I rescheduled for the second time on 6/10/2017. Asked if I would get my $50.00 discount since the original was closed? I was told my original sale was reinstated $1995.00. Very disappointed, as I tried to call for more assistance in keeping the June 3, date by calling other EMPIRE numbers. "What do you want me to do" the sales representative said. I replied, "just need someone to keep the June 3, appointment." Had to plan work schedules around this date. 3 days would not be enough time!!! I hope and pray The carpet to be installed on June 10 is done professionally!!! Just another runarounded customer!!! Happy Memorial Weekend!!!

Updated on 06/12/2017: Carpet installers requested payment before installation. Noted carpet after installation had a yellow dingy hue in spots totally different view from what I had originally agreed to. Due to my night shifts, the salesman offered to meet me in the mornings with the samples after work. I agreed, he placed the samples on his trunk of his car, full morning sun I saw no yellow hues or was told there would be any. The carpet color I saw was a light gray without any hues. Hope this helps others. Very sad and disappointed customer. I paid approx $1995.00 for yellow, dingy streaked GREY carpet.

Also, when they put the carpet in, they were really nice. They moved stuff around. So, I was very content. Then, they cleaned up after themselves before they left. But, I've been waiting for somebody to call me about my account. They said that I owed them some more money and I had made one check out to Empire. Then, nobody told me I needed two separate checks, one for the floor and one for the carpet. I talked to their customer service rep a couple of days ago and they were supposed to get back with me. I am very disappointed with Empire Today and here is my reason. I have used them twice before in two of my previous homes. My last experience was back in 2012. Both times I had a good experience with Empire, from a smooth sales appointment to the installation with no problem. I was looking to change my carpet this time around in my Airbnb property because my previous carpet was ruined by some paint and I can't rent it out until it's replaced. I called Empire because I was familiar with the service and had received good service before. This time around, I felt like I was working with a low-level disorganized company.

First the salesman came out to my home and showed me different options. The one I liked was above my budget so I told him that I will compare with other companies. I received a call from a sales rep to find out why I did not move forward with the sale and she convinced me to take a look at 3 specific carpets that would fit in the price range before I go with another company. I agreed and a sales appointment was made. I had to reschedule my initial appointment and when the sales appointment was met, a new salesman came to my house.

This guy didn't have a clue about which carpets the phone salesperson and I had discussed nor was he aware of the price range we discussed as well. He ended up showing me everything all over again and I ended up just making a decision on a carpet because I was just ready to get it done. My financing was with Fortiva was confirmed and I was assured I would have 2 people to help move my furniture and working on my carpet.

Before installation, I called customer service to confirm my order and financing through Fortiva. When the subcontractor came to install my carpet, he came alone. He was ready for a full payment for installation because he apparently did not get the memo on my financing, though I had confirmed it with Empire multiple times. He called customer service and they did not have any of my financing information either. They told me I would have to call Fortiva myself to confirm my own financing! I almost cancelled my entire installation because it did not seem like my needs as a customer was going to be met after my experience thus far.

After a while, they were able to reach my salesman and he confirmed my financing. The subcontractor finally started and I helped him move my own furniture despite being told there would be 2 people to do it. The actual installation was going well until the subcontractor ran out of carpet. Empire did not give him enough carpet to complete the project! This was last Thursday. I was told that someone would call me to confirm if they could come out on Friday within 24 hours to complete it. I had to call myself only for them to tell me that I could not finish the installation until Monday. Not only did I miss work to be at home on Thursday and Friday but I also could not rent my property out over the weekend because I have mismatched carpet!

Today is Monday and I missed work again to be at home and did not receive a call in the morning. I called Empire around 11am this morning and this afternoon at 4pm to see if a subcontractor is going to come out and finish my carpet, and I was told both times that no one could be reached to confirm. I still have no confirmation on when my carpet will be completed and I am losing money by the day! If I had known that I would have to deal with this, I would have used a cheaper, local company and gotten more attention as a customer. I am very disappointed and highly doubt I will use or refer Empire services again.

This company won't work with handicapped stairlift people. Even though when the Stairlift company stated any reputable company could bring the carpet down the stairs and screwing the screws back into the brackets. We feel discriminated against because of our stairlift. The sales person was the greatest I've seen in some time. She tried everything she could do to get her manager to allow installation by her company. She gets 5 Stars from me.

UPDATED ON 08/07/2017: We ordered a sales inquiry. Tela showed for the appointment. The stairway became an issue due to the stairlift. The sales call was terminated by Patrick, her supervisor. I made a complaint to the BBB about not working with handicapped people. I called Tela back out and ordered over 10K of merchandise from this company. I spoke with Tela about moving furniture for us since my wife can't get around very well and I'm on social security disability. She stated she charged us money in the contract to move furniture. She asked me to remove the complaint about Empire not working with the stairlift. I told her it was the truth, she stated Patrick said he's been on the phone all morning about this stairlift. He'll pay 1/2 the cost to remove and replace if I tell them the problem was resolved.

We scheduled 3 different install dates due to our health issues. The first date was all hardwood, vinyl, and tile flooring. The install was great, thank you Brian and your professional team. The second install date was living room down stairs plus 3 bedrooms upstairs. That install happened according to schedule. The third install was the huge man cave plus the upstairs hallway and the landing and stairwell, here is where stuff started going south fast. The door jams were cut at an angle and part of the hallway was cut at some angle other than straight. The downstairs step instead of a tack strip had like 100 staples across the bottom step.

We called. Got no response. I emailed the company with pictures and got no response. Finally I called the 800 number and they put me in touch with a very nice lady. She told me that she would send Rick ** on Thursday morning a week from us talking to evaluate the situation. Rick came in, looked around and said, "You need a total redo on the bedroom closets and hallway, also the bottom step needs to be redone." We were like we got to move all this stuff again? He apologized and said, "Yes sir." Thank you Rick for being a straight shooter. Rick left and we waited.

A week later a lady called me and said they found carpet of the same lot as what was installed. Would Monday be ok to install the hallway. I said, "Sure as long as the color matched." Rick ** showed up and took a piece of carpet upstairs to match, it didn't come close. He called his company and told me he'll be back when the carpet was in. We finally got the 3 bedrooms, closets, and the hallway and bottom step replaced. However nothing on the broken furniture or 1/2 cost of stairlift.

I talked to Tela and told her not to jeopardize her job for standing up to Patrick. I've heard nothing on this matter from Empire management. I believe that they owe for the headboard stand costing $199.00 plus 1/2 the cost of the stairlift removal and replacement which works out to $87.50. We have called so many time to speak with Patrick that it's just become redundant. Additionally, our original cost included grout in the kitchen. When we found out that we wouldn't be able to walk on it for 12 hours, we opted to go groutless. Tela assured us that it would be a refund on our account.

We bought a wall-to-wall carpet from Empire Today and it was installed in the sunroom, dining room, living room and hallway of our house. It was on sale and I like that it’s pet-proof, which helps a lot. It’s beige and a nice light carpet. However, I wish the installation would have gone better. The salesman gave me a couple of different dates. Then the installers never called or showed up, and I stayed home all day.

Now when they finally came, they put in the metal strip in the doorway between the hallway and the tile floor bathroom. They've beaten the nails in and cracked the grout in a couple of places. It's pretty wide which was probably 3/8ths of 1 inch by 1 inch long and the length was about 9 by 9, like the whole length of one towel. I noticed that a few days later and it wasn't that way before. The men were here all day and they were nice but I never expected them to crack that grout.

I called the Better Business Bureau and asked about the company. BBB said that Empire Today has a C rating and got a bunch of complaints, which I wish I’d have done that before I got the carpet in. I’m waiting to hopefully get this resolved and I’m in the process of getting hold of somebody, and we’ve been calling back and forth. I was supposed to get an estimate on it and mail it to a lady and then we’re gonna go from there. Other than that, everything was good.

Good pricing on the carpet compared to the other estimates I got. My biggest complaint is that they put a big seam right in the middle of the living room, in front of the sofa, so it is immediately seen when you walk in the house. Also doesn't match perfectly. Also carpeted bathroom and they knocked the toilet loose. When I called to complain about the problems they asked if I saw them do it. When I said no, they said it wasn't covered. They rescinded that later on and agreed to pay the repair costs.

Purchased what I was told was a pet friendly laminate floor. Any liquid that comes in contact with flooring leaks underneath the flooring and causes warping regardless of clean up time. I was willing to accept that it was a Shoddy material, "buyer beware" but then I spilled a glass of water on the floor cleaned it up right away and it warped. That is when I decided it couldn't hurt to see if anything could be done. Had Empire come out to assess. I was told it was site related, meaning I did not clean it up in time. This was not true. All spills were cleaned up in a timely fashion.

Then they had a secondary party come out to assess the situation. I was told they found moisture under the flooring and again this was site related. They claim it was not cleaned up again but did not find any pet urine residuals or spill stains on the surface under black light. This proves my point that everything that spilled on my supposed pet friendly was cleaned up in a timely fashion. Very disappointed in how this was handled but still hopeful for a resolution. Empire needs to stand behind their claims and not try to blame the customer for a poor product.

Unfortunately I did not have a wonderful experience with Empire Today. My experience had been a long and painful one for 8 months. Had laminate wood floors installed throughout house - living room, kitchen, hallway, and carpet - stairs, hallway, and master bedroom. Installers showed up around 11am (late start for a big job) and did not finish until 10:30 pm. Instead of completing job in 2 days they squeezed into 1. After they left my husband and I spent at least 2 hours cleaning up nails, debris, and dust. We could not let our children walk on the floors. In the master bedroom we noticed that our ceiling fan had been ripped out of the ceiling and wired up. Our walls had major dings and dirty black handprints throughout the house and one of the closets. They forgot to install the carpet. The molding at the long straight walls were in piecework. Instead of using one straight piece, 2 were placed together. Using the scraps to make one.

The next day we noticed the driveway had piles of nails and debris that should have been cleaned up but since it was dark out when the installers left, they could not do this. I called my sales rep and she gave me the 1-800 number and said they would handle it. After sending several photos, I was given a $200 check for my new fan. However my newly painted walls were not covered as I was told that is in the contract. Had to have them come back to install carpet, another day my husband had to take off. The installer said he could not do the molding as it was not his area. I decided to leave it as is. Shortly after the install we noticed that one area in our living room the floor was starting to cave in. You could see when walked on, the floor sink. We had the sales rep back at the house, after several attempts getting her there. She stated that she would put in a service call. After 2 weeks and not getting a call, I had to call myself.

An inspector had to come and "inspect: the area. It was determined that the floor needed to be removed and fixed. We scheduled a day and unfortunately the installer that came did not have the correct material. Another day my husband took off and issue not resolved. Following week, an installer showed up but we were never called and informed the day before and therefore were not at home. Another week went by. Finally, installer came and fixed the floor. However, the molding they took off was thrown back on wall with more nail holes added and caulking dripping all over. One section of the floor was loose and when stepped on you seen it move up and down. My paint that was touched up from original install was now chipped AGAIN. And to boot my closet door in the living room was taken off and the bottom hinge was taken off. After several calls to Empire Today's install department leaving messages I never got a callback.

The manager that I was told to speak with, and who I did speak with the first time, her mailbox was full and could not leave messages. Tia ** would not get on the phone with me. By this time, another section of the floor was caving. Speaking through a customer service sales rep, Tia replied a message that they would come and fix floor and molding. I stayed at home and had to stand over the installers and watch them. They ripped up the floor and had to fix the issues. They fixed all the molding but banged up my walls again. I will need to get them repainted again. I had to wipe down dirty black handprints off my walls and have the installers adjust my closet door. I have never experienced such a horrible home improvement. I felt that the installers were not professional and did not care for my personal items. I would not and will not recommend Empire Today to anyone. I should have went to a mom and pop shop locally.

Empire came & installed my entire upstairs on April 25th. I was very satisfied with that installation. Empire returned on May 10th, to install carpet on my main level. I found some issues with the carpet within the next few hours when going to move furniture back. I called, the very next day, & they couldn't get anyone out here to look at it until May 15th. An appointment was scheduled to come take care of the issues on May 16th after 12:00 pm. At 11:00 am I received a call telling me they cancelled the appointment & would be coming on May 17th. The 17th will not work, as I will be at meetings in Chicago. It was a voicemail, as I was in a meeting. I was to return their call. The call was returned within an hour & I only got a voicemail.

My husband continued calling several times, even called the sales representative, which is the only person he spoke with. All other calls, were answered & sent to voicemail or went straight to voicemail. As of right now, & another phone call this morning, we still know nothing. My furniture is still in my halls, dining room, kitchen & garage because they need to come back out. It's been a week of disarray in my house. How can a company not take care of their customers & simply answer a call or return one? How can they just up & cancel your appointment? I had 5 stars all over this company but after the second install & this disaster, I rate them a zero. We had planned on using them in the future for our basement, but not anymore. Not only should this be handled immediately but there should be some type of compensation for this horrible customer service.

In April of 2017, we contacted Empire regarding our floors. They sent a salesman out who showed us a few samples of flooring. We selected laminate for 2 small front rooms and lvt for our kitchen and laundry room. We were told it could be installed that week. We were unavailable until the following Monday. The salesman told us this would be a 1-2 day job for all the rooms. The installers came and as they were installing the laminate, they were concerned that they would not have enough material to finish the job.

They tried to finish but had the wrong transition pieces for the floor. They said they couldn't finish until they got them. The quarter round pieces were pieced together which looks very unappealing. They were supposed to come and finish the kitchen and laundry room but said the material was not in. They told us this for 2 weeks after they canceled appointments due to lack of materials. We canceled the kitchen and laundry room floors because of this.

I have contacted Empire several times and was assured by someone (won't mention his name) that "he had my back." "You don't need to contact anyone else because I got you covered. I will take care of you." The installation of all floors began on April 24, 2017 and was supposed to be done April 25. It is now May 17, 2017 and we are still waiting for them to contact us. In the meantime, I have requested a full refund. I will never use this company again and will never recommend them to anyone. I have seen a lot of reviews on this site that have or have had the same problems I am having. I have yet to touch the floors with anything, in case someone actually shows up to look at them. It says on the bottom of this form to attach a receipt, but we were never given one. We weren't given anything.

Updated on 05/24/2017: After a month of back and forth emails, phone calls, etc. Empire finally sent the installers back to us to "finish" the work. They were supposed to send quarter rounds long enough for our small rooms, but did not. This resulted in unsightly piecing of the quarter rounds on all walls of the rooms. They do not tell you the cost of materials. How do you know you are getting 50/50/50? They never tell you the original price!

There are three bedrooms, one hallway then stairs, three closets and one bathroom on that floor and they did an excellent job with the installation. Although, I'm not really happy with the price since I'm a single mom. My husband passed away and it was too much for me to pay. I like the design and the color is light brown. I asked the one who came to our house, John, if laminate flooring is better than hardwood. He suggested and advised me to have this laminate flooring because it is more durable and stronger than hardwood. I'm really impressed with the Empire workers. They are really good and polite. They came on time and then they did well. I highly recommend Empire to my friends.

She said Empire Today doesn't sell product without installing it.

I said, "Fine. You can install it. I need about a foot of flooring because we are replacing the tub with a smaller tub." Ashley put me on hold. 5 seconds later she was back and said her Assistant Manager just told her my product was discontinued. I asked to speak to her Assistant Manager and she told me he doesn't speak to customers. I questioned that and she told me he couldn't come to the phone because he was in the middle of teaching a class. This seems like a BIG SCAM to me. If you decide to do business with Empire Today be sure you get enough extra material for repairs and minor replacements. If Empire can't hook you on a big enough repair/replacement job, they will blow you off altogether.

We scheduled our installation of vinyl flooring for Sat. May 6th. We called Empire that morning of the 6th to find out that they didn't have our product ready. They didn't even bother calling us that morning. We had already disconnected our appliances and removed all items from furniture. They rescheduled for Wed. May 10th and once again, they failed to call us right away, so we called them and to find out that once again, product had not arrived. We were already without a stove since May 6th since Empire told us to turn off the gas and remove from hose. We couldn't connect it back again due to issues with hose so we ended up buying a new stove and were waiting for delivery on May 17th.

We had already given Empire a down payment and still waiting for installation. New date for installation was May 13th. By this time we were already frustrated because husband had called headquarters and he was told that they would compensate us somehow and we only got a small discount. Not worth our frustration. Had we known it would take this long, we would have not disconnected our stove. We tried calling our Empire sales rep, left him many messages, and he never returned our calls. We came very close to cancelling the whole deal and go with another company, but we figured it would add on to our frustration since we had financed this deal through Wells Fargo and didn't know what to expect from this.

Saturday, May 13th came around and the installers FINALLY showed up at 11am. We wanted this job completed in one day and assumed it would get done since there were 4 guys, but then after a couple hours I noticed that only 2 guys were working. The other 2 had left for an emergency so of course, these 2 other guys worked for 8 hours and didn't finish the job in one day. They had to return on Monday May 15th to finish. I do like the end result, but am very unhappy and disappointed with the company's customer service and sales rep. They need to get with it in regards to communication. I will demand more compensation especially since we were left without a stove and no way of cooking our meals. I will not recommend Empire to my friends and family. Too bad we didn't have many other options in our area for floor companies that offer financing.

Updated on 06/06/2017: It says that it was resolved? The only thing that got resolved was that the laminate flooring FINALLY got installed, but I never heard back from them regarding a refund for the trouble we endured. I also called them on May 31 to complain that the installers forgot to staple a section of base boards. Customer service rep said I would get a call back 1 to 3 business days to schedule the repair. It's been 4 days and no one has called me back. They have the worst customer service. I will never refer them unless they do something about my complaints.

The sales part was fine. I was having my entire home carpeted and I had waited so long to be able to afford it. I went with Empire because they advertised and stress free installation and a quality product. I relied on the salesperson that the product he recommended was the best quality and that the installers would take care of moving furniture, etc.

The estimated time would be two days. Well the installers asked me what they were to do about the furniture and balked at having to move it. They put my furniture outside and fortunately got it back in before it rained. They were upset that they had to return another day because they had another job scheduled and I pointed out that I'd been told it would take two days and they finally agreed to return the next morning to finish rather than the next evening. It was not a good experience. So, that was September 2015.

6 months later I was contacting customer service about traffic patterns on the carpet. The carpet cleaners couldn't believe that this was fairly new carpet and there is only me and an occasional guest walking on it. Well customer service kept finding reasons other than carpet quality for the darkened area and never agreed to send someone out to look at it. Now in addition to that it appears that the padding is lifting under the carpet causing raised creases, first in one area and now in three. This developed shortly after the one year installation warranty expired. So I'm looking at investing in having a portion of the carpet replaced and getting the padding issue repaired. I'm disappointed with my experience and I'm not rich so I can't just have it all redone and might just have to live with it. 2 stars is generous.

Empire Today installed our carpet in one of my homes and in our rental properties. In the rentals, the carpet was everywhere except the bathroom and kitchen. I didn't have to wait three weeks for them to come and install it. Most of them took two days to install, while some of them were the next day. The carpet was the medium grade and stain-resistant. It had a color that would hide dirt and had a decent warranty. Empire Today had to come out and do one repair for a seam that has come apart. They said they were gonna look at it and decide if it was gonna be a warranty thing. They ended up just fixing it while they were there.

I've had several installations done in Anderson, Indiana area. The last one that Empire Today did was a huge 3,500 square feet house that was almost all carpet. They had a crew of four, but one of them was a girl and she left early, and they worked until 9:00 o'clock at night. The last one I did was only about 1,000 square feet and four Mexican guys came, which were the same guys that did one of my earlier houses. They had the whole house done in a couple of hours. There were three large bedrooms where the carpet had to be installed in my house in Oregon. The guy that came out to install the carpet was a little old Mexican man that didn't speak English, and he had to lug carpet up the stairs and install everything by himself. He worked until 9:00 o'clock at night. He needed to have more help.

I decided to purchase carpeting from Empire for my home. I chose them because of the convenience. I had purchased carpeting and flooring from Luna which I now understand is owned by Empire. When the salesperson came I explained to him that I was very disappointed with my carpet because of its condition. I had purchased the carpet from Luna in 2006 and I felt that the salesperson had sold me inferior carpeting because after 9 years the carpeting had deteriorated. It looked awful especially in the high traffic areas. I explained to him that I wanted a high quality carpet that would look good for a longer period of time. I thought this would probably be the last time I would be purchasing carpet for my home since my husband and I are in our 70's.

I purchased the carpeting in February, 2015 during a sales promotion for a 50% discount. The salesperson quoted a ridiculous amount for my 1700 sq ft home but brought it down to a reasonable amount for the high quality and better padding I thought I was purchasing. When the installers came in April of 2015 they did an excellent job if moving furniture and installing the carpet.

The one thing that I have appreciated and the reason I chose to purchase from Empire is because I have received excellent service from Empire and Luna's installers. Also I thought I was receiving their best padding and carpeting. Now 2 years later, I am very sorry that I had not educated myself and did more research on carpet purchases. I asked the salesperson several times about the quality of the carpeting and he assured me that I was getting the best Empire had to offer. Unfortunately I was an easy sale because I trusted the salesperson to be honest and now I feel that I was scammed.

When my carpet was first installed it was beautiful it felt good and looked good. There was quite a bit of shedding but I thought that was normal. After two years of having the carpet and several cleanings the carpet has matted down and has changed colors. I finally decided to call Empire and explained what has been happening to my carpet. The gentleman who came out to clean my carpet (who is a friend of my granddaughter) thought the carpeting was much older than 2 years. He has no reason to be dishonest he cleans carpet and he doesn't sell carpeting. He said that that the matting could be from inadequate padding. I have a 20 year warranty on the carpeting.

After calling Empire I was told I had to pay 90 dollars to come out and inspect it. The person I talked to said that he would reduced the inspection cost to 47.50. I told the person in Northlake Illinois that I did not want to pay anything and that I wanted to speak to a manager. He said no manager was available but he would have one return my call. It has been over a week with no phone call from Empire regarding someone coming out to inspect for no charge. I have my carpet cleaning receipt that I will submit after I hear from you.

Unfortunately I have lost all confidence with Empire and I really don't expect to have some come out and waste my time by telling me it's not their fault. It's my fault! So my advice to all is educate yourself before you make any major purchases. There is enough information out there on the internet to assist you. Fool me once (Luna) shame on me. Fool me twice (Empire) shame on you. A very unsatisfied customer!! By the way I am still waiting for a manager to return my call. It's been over a week and a half since your representative told me that his manager Julio would return my call.

I just got my carpet installed today. However the experience has been a headache. First the installers show up and didn't bring the subflooring that was to be replaced. Then they forgot to cut out the vent in my master bedroom. Last but not least they left all the old carpet and matting in my front yard. Very unprofessional and I'm still waiting for the job to be complete. So now I have to put my day on hold and wait for them to finish the job that wasn't done the first time around. I will not recommended this company to anyone in the Clarksville, TN area.

Empire installed wood flooring in our home. I thought about researching and considering other brands but seeing the advert on television that it looked pretty good, I just went with them. I wanted to get rid of the carpeting because I have asthma and I've heard that a lot of carpeting makes asthma worse. It has worked better, considering I have three cats, because I haven't had too many problems since I've got the hardwood floors. I was told I'd have to get rid of those cats because of my asthma and I said no. And so anything that's going to help out without having to give away my cats. The flooring was very nice.

When I said I wanted it redone, he became indignant. His supervisor was not very helpful. We will NEVER use or recommend Empire.

I had carpet and some vinyl installed by Empire Today. The vinyl pattern is what I really like. That’s what I had done before and I was really pleased with it. I had it in the hallway, in a bedroom, and also in a bath downstairs. When I got ready to replace the kitchen, I thought of getting some more of that. Their sales reps were fine, answered questions, and set up the appointment on time. The installers came in when they were supposed to, finished their work, and cleaned up well.

This is a 2 part review: first, the laminate installers were excellent. (Jesus and two other guys) They arrived on time and did a very professional job. We have absolutely no complaints with that part of the installation. Second, the vinyl man (Rick) came and had an attitude before he got in the front door. He was mad that the laminate installers were "in his way". Mad because the refrigerator, range, washer and dryer were not unhooked and moved. We were told the installers would do that. So he left.

I called Empire Today to complain and to cancel the order with them. I was offered a $201 discount to give ET another chance to make it right. We rescheduled for another day, we had someone here to unhook and move all appliances. We received the confirmation calls Friday night and Saturday morning. Then on Saturday morning at the time the installers should have been here Brandon called and said the product had been discontinued. We allowed him to come show us the new product which was inferior to the initial product, but we decided on a product and scheduled delivery.

We were offered numerous discounts due to the miscommunication. Numerous times I complained about the inferior product. It was not the discounts I was interested in. I simply wanted a vinyl product that was comparable to my initial purchase. We started getting the runaround. Keep in mind I had already paid in full on the day it should have been installed. Finally I requested a full refund for the cost of the vinyl but eventually had to go to the credit card company and request they refute the charges. This was done and my money was finally returned. Of course I was not reimbursed for the guy that came to move my appliances. I will never use them nor recommend them. Many family and friends have come to admire the laminate but they also got to see and hear how shabby and unprofessional the vinyl department is. Not sure how they keep an A+ rating. Overall horrible experience.

Made an appointment based on a home product and repair free site. I got a confirmation for time. The salesman arrived with several different sample books of carpet. I had requested nylon carpet in the online preferences. I asked him who manufactured the carpets and he quickly replied either Mohawk or Shaw without any added information. I asked him how the carpet was constructed i.e. stapled or continuous filament which he seemed not to know. Asked about how much I wanted to spend asking different price points. He had brought with him 2 nylon samples all the rest polyester products with no manufacturer anywhere on the product. Asked how much the carpet was per yard??? He said, "We only quote by the install price."

Did not thoroughly measure like another quote with measuring tape etc. Imputed some figures into his computer while talking to me and arrived at 4 prices 2 being 8000 for 100 sq yards the other 2 around 4 thousand, but these were for very cheap low quality polyester with limited colors. I said that was more than I wanted to pay. He called his boss, then it was 6000. Declined to get excited by this and then he asked if I would have a sign in front of my house etc and if I gave an upfront deposit of 300 dollars I could get it for 3400. I asked if I could show the sample to my husband... No I need these. I said that I would not give a deposit to anyone without consulting my husband.

He wanted to close this sale, but honestly I became suspicious even about the quality of the carpet the more I looked at it. The high pressure sales with no quote to be emailed to me was enough to say forget this company and their flimflam. No money was going to be given in advance to this operation and in fact I glad I found this site even after the fact.

I had used you in the past and so we used you again. My only problem is because Empire made a mistake, a manager never contacted me about the issue and I was told by a few customer service workers that they would return my call. I wanted the issue resolved before the install. I was told a manager would call me but no manager ever called. I wanted a manager so we would could resolve the issue in a fair way due to their mistake. The day of the install came and still no call back. I was assured not to worry basically and that they had my message and my account was noted in the computer in order to resolve the issue to my satisfaction. The workers during the install however did an amazing job. I'm just upset in the way Empire handled the situation with their management who never returned my call.

I'm not chasing you but I definitely feel that you have fell short on that end of the customer service part, especially when it was Empire's mistake. I was never looking for a free product from the mistake but perhaps a slight discount for my troubles and for having to take off from work because they made a mistake the first go around. In the end customer service basically said to me that the job was completed and that is all that matters at this point. It felt as if they said, "Now go enjoy your carpet runner on the stairs and move on with your life, we can't help you and we are going to pretend that we did everything in our power to make sure you as a customer were satisfied". The next time I would use you again does make me question if there would be a next time I could put my faith in Empire again.

My sister-in-law gave me Empire’s phone number and I gave them a call. They came out that afternoon and took the measurements. Then the installers came back the next day to install carpet in the front room and the little hallway in our home. They were very nice, polite, did a very good job laying it and had a very good time laying it so I'm very satisfied. Empire's cost was reasonable because the other stores were a couple thousands. When the sales rep gave me the price, I said that we'll do it because I'm on a fixed income and I got a really good deal. I like the color of the carpet which is deep water blue. It's very comfortable compared to my other carpet and it's so soft and squishy. Even my little great granddaughter who turned seven last month and came over to spend the day said that it's very soft. I'm gonna need some kitchen rug and I’d probably be calling them too.

I was very pleased with Empire. I had a specific date that I needed them to complete the project by as we were having two parties and they came in and completed everything. They ran low on one material that they had to backorder, which they made sure that it was brought in on time and they came over the day before we had the party and finished up some baseboard molding. We also had one little problem with the carpet. There was a hard spot in the pad that you could feel through the carpet. We called the office and they sent somebody out to repair that promptly. The guys that did the wood were very good. We weren't there the entire time but for the time that we were, they were considerate of what we were doing while they were still busting to get their job done. They also cleaned up nicely at the end of each day. Overall, it was a very good experience.

Let's start at the beginning. On April 19, 2017 between 1pm and 3pm a rep was to respond to my house for an estimate. At 3:15 the call center phoned me and advised that no one would be out as my name was not on the list. So we rescheduled. On 4-24-2017 Sue ** came out to do the measuring and give me the estimate. She said the laminate could be installed the next day, but I wanted time to rearrange the furniture so we decided on Apr 26 for the laminate and the 27th for the carpet. I was also told by Sue the sale ended at the end of the month, but I went online and checked and found the sale was good until 5-6-17. Maybe a little sales pressure, huh?

Now the fun begins. Phone call from Sue stating "The product is not in stock". A product that was promised the next day if I wanted it, but decided until the 26th. Each day after that for the next two days call after call was made to me the product would be on the next truck and ready the next day. Finally, after several days of this I told Sue, "Just bring out more samples and I will choose something similar." Just want the job done, as my house was upside down with furniture piled up in my living room and the laundry room was unusable due to furniture and my drum set being stored in there. In other words, the place was a mess for four and five days waiting for "the product" to show up.

Finally after choosing a different laminate we agreed on an installation date of 4-29-17 and carpet installation on 5-1-17. Almost a week after the initial installation dates. Keep in mind, I do not have access to the laundry room and living room during this time. The reason the laminate needed to be put down first was I could then take the stuff from the living room and place it in the kitchen so the carpet could be laid. Time for the carpet. Almost the first thing out of the installer's mouth was..."I don't have enough carpet with me to finish the job." Oh, great, what's next with this job. So the installers put down what they had and had to return the next day.

To say the least I am totally unsatisfied with Empire carpet. What was supposed to be done and could have been done in three days took almost an entire week. The one bright spot in all this fiasco was dealing with Ceci on the 28th at the call center in El Paso, Texas. She was extremely courteous and helpful with my plight. In fact I made it a point to wait on hold to talk to her supervisor and tell him what a great employee she was. If not for her this entire project would have been a TOTAL DISASTER... I am very disappointed with the overall experience with Empire and the ad saying next day is complete B.S. Next week is more like it. That's it. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Had Empire salesman come in. He heard my needs that, "I wanted a comfortable flooring that would allow my whole family... 2 children and a husband with a fused back be able to sit/play on the living room carpet." So we found a carpet I liked and he negotiated a really great deal for it. Or so I thought... We put the downpayment in and problems there.

Two men arrived (only an hour late) which was fine because I had moved 99% of the furniture they were scheduled to move. But when I saw the padding they picked out (mind you I never saw any samples of padding or anything on that subject. Just followed the salesman recommendation and I didn't know anything) different to ask if there were options since he KNEW I wanted the carpet as thick and cushiony as possible. If this padding was 1/4" thick, I be astounded. It's the thinnest thing you'd ever seen.

But trusting more than I should have I had them install it... the moment I walked on it I knew I was in big trouble. You can literally feel the notches in the wood flooring below. So I called the company after thinking how much we paid for something that NO ONE is going to want to sit on (let alone lay on and wrestle with our boys). I truly hope there is a way to fix this as the carpet alone is great. But just getting rid of the protective padding and putting a thicker (non protective one on instead since the carpet is 100% polyester anyway AND from everything I've read is cheaper padding too) and the rest be a wash. Because I don't know what I can do with a floor that no softer to be on than the stone floor in our kitchen. Hoping that next 24 hours I can change my experience.

Updated on 05/18/2017: I did a review in the hope things could get fixed the day the carpet was installed... well they didn't and the promises of someone actually contacting you "within 24 hours"... (like they promise) is getting really old too (think the movie Money Pit and promise "2 weeks"). They didn't move the furniture in or out. They didn't take the divider out as I asked them to do (and as always was promised but had to step away). And lastly the sales person ignored my request of having carpet and padding that was thick (in inches) so it doesn't hurt ones back to sit on the floor... likely so he could get a bigger commission. All of these things happened... I still have a bump in my flooring and NO ONE at Empire seems to care to help. Most talk a good game but still can't/won't do anything to fix it.
