I had got some carpets from somewhere else and I wasn't satisfied. Then my cousin had gotten some carpets from Empire Today and I liked the work they did in her house so I wanted to try them as well. Empire installed a carpet in the front room in the hallway. I like the way the carpet has been put down and it's neat in going up the steps. I told my daughter-in-law about them and she might also get some carpet from Empire. I told her that they take their time and don't rush. And when they get through, they would ask if the carpet installed was all right and if we're satisfied. Most people don't do that. Others just put the carpet down, clean-up and go. Overall, I'm happy and satisfied with everything that Empire Today did.

I had Empire Today install a rug in my living room and I love it. It had the right color I wanted and Empire was willing to install it right away. The installers were very nice and perfect gentlemen. They put everything back where it was and I didn't have to do a thing. The experience was very enjoyable and speedy. And I’d gladly endorse them.

Had carpet and hardwood installed by Empire at end May this year, all that went fine. Problem I am having is Empire Double Charge the Card I got thru them on June 1st. I called in thinking this be a easy problem they could correct. But boy was I wrong. It is now about 3 months later and they still haven’t corrected the problem. I call in weekly trying to get this fixed and get the same story every time that they noted my account and someone will call me back in 24 hours to get it fixed, even try talking to a Sup and he saw the problem. Said he sent something up the ladder and it be fixed. MMM. That was 3 weeks ago. No change. Now their mistake is impacting my credit score because the card is over the limited.

We considered other brands and chose Empire for the convenience of them coming out in the installation. We had carpet installed in our living room and the new flooring met my expectations. It was quick and easy. It required a follow-up installation and we were completely happy with our experience.

We had laminate flooring installed in our whole first floor. The two installers were nice and on time and finished in one day, which I was impressed with. However, this is probably because they rushed the install and the quality of work was lacking. They forgot to nail down some of the quarter round and I later noticed that one of them accidentally left a huge gash in my wall while using a saw to cut the laminate.

A few months later, I noticed that the laminate was warping up at some joints. Additionally, the transition bar into the kitchen looks horrendous. Glue had seeped out onto the floor and the bar has shifted and the layer of "wood" look is peeling and cracking off of the bar exposing the laminate core. When the salesman sold us these floors, he said they were pet and wear-proof, which is a complete lie.

After an inspector finally came out - they showed up weeks after they were supposed to randomly at my house (thankfully I was home) - it took weeks for the customer service rep to get back to me. The results of the inspection were that I was cleaning the floors wrong. I was "mopping them" instead of cleaning them with a dry cloth and spray. I have NO idea where they got this information because if he had even asked, I would have gladly showed them the expensive DRY microfiber mop and LAMINATE floor SPRAY cleaner that I use to clean those floors. They told me I have to pay $2000 to fix it because of this "incorrect" cleaning, for which this accusation was pulled literally out of thin air.

I am extremely dissatisfied and angry, especially since I feel that I overpaid for the floors in the first place. The salesman was extremely pushy and threatened to leave when we would not pay the ridiculous amount that he suggested. When we finally agreed to "help him out" by paying for recarpeting our bedroom, we were able to settle at an amount finally, that I also feel was too much money. It was an overall excruciating experience, as he was at our house for over 3 hours. Overall this experience is something I would not wish on anyone, and now we are stuck with ** damaged floors because of a rushed install and ** customer service. Pictures and order # to come.

The people from Empire Today were also efficient and did the job quick. They didn't waste any time. I got carpeting installed in my living room and it met my expectations. I love its color. It's gray but it got a blue cast to it and depending on the lighting, it almost looks aqua. The carpet goes with my living room because my furniture is blue and gray too. Also, it feels nice to be able to walk barefoot and know there’s some insulation underneath the carpet.

I had Empire Today install carpet in my living room, dining room, and hallway. I checked with a few stores and Empire Today did the carpet for my niece so I went in and let them do it for me. The three nice young men from the installation team did a very good job. They came in, did their jobs and went out of here, which was well-received. I would recommend their work to somebody else. But the Empire team themselves gave me hell. When I called them on the carpet, they made an appointment. Then they called back and said, “Oh, no one is in your area today. They can't come out, but if you reschedule, I'd give you $50 off of your fee.” After I’ve decided, I called them back and told them I'll let them do the job. Then they pretended not to know anything about the $50. I know they had to tell me that and they gave me the $50. In the end, it all came out okay.

Our carpet installation went well enough, but we had 4 missed appointments to have our baseboards installed, and the 5th appointment resulted in the contractor not having enough materials to complete the job, and the baseboards used were the cheapest quality I have ever seen. We assumed that the baseboards would be similar in quality to the carpet we purchased (above average), but the contractor simply nailed the boards to the wall, filled the gaps with caulk and called it good. The second contractor didn't install the boards flush with one another, pieced multiple segments together to fill a wall, and wasn't able to do any work on our stairway so we are still incomplete with our order well over month since we originally ordered the work.

Our local office (Washington/Baltimore) has never called about follow ups, missed appointments, damage done to our home, or work yet to be completed as annotated on paperwork signed with the contractor. I have requested action from the corporate level through Facebook/email and am very disappointed in the experience.

We just moved to our house and Empire Today did a good job with my new laminate wood floor in the kitchen and dining, carpeting throughout the living hallway, two bedrooms, and the game room. We also got the ceramic-like floor in the bathroom. I considered other places but I didn't want to sit with a salesperson so I went with Empire Today. I probably paid more than I should have but I got the best carpeting and padding underneath the laminate because our son needs extra cushion since walks on his knees. However, I noticed a place in the kitchen floor, where the laminate wood is pulled apart. I'm getting coffee and crumbs down in there. So, I just used the toothpick to get it out. But other than that, I'm happy with Empire Today.

We had Empire Today put in carpet last year and it's holding up pretty well. We love it. This time we had them install vinyl-snap wooden floor in our basement. I considered other brands before I went with Empire and they were better with their price and was willing to work with us. We went back and forth as far as negotiating the price a little bit. The quality was also comparable. We also worked with Randy, who was our sales rep last year, and we were pleased with it. We knew what we were expecting out of the job. We are still in the middle of finishing our basement and I think the vinyl floor will be great for the basement since if we do get flooding, it won't be as big as a carpet would be. Empire was also quick so it wasn't super inconvenient to have the installation.

I am writing this to express my disappointment in the Empire Company over the last year. Our initial encounter with Empire, in June of 2004, was not only a pleasant experience but a very professional one as well. The representative explained everything, gave us a copy of the full contract with dates and a receipt. The preinstallation checklist was complete and the carpet that was installed continues to serve us well in one of the rooms and we have never had to have anyone come to fix it in 13 years. This installation was $1600. Our next experience with Empire was in June of 2015. This representative was also professional and helpful. We were beginning the process of remodeling our house for possible sale. We had been so pleased with our earlier encounter that we contracted for two bedrooms, a hallway, stairs and two closets for carpeting.

The representative showed us a new product for the bathrooms and it was so impressive we contracted for those rooms also. Again, a full copy of the contract was presented to us along with a full disclosure. This installation was $5000. The carpeting was installed and it looked very nice, therefore, six days later we had Empire come back and complete the upstairs with carpeting in the last bedroom for another $954. Here ends our pleasant encounters with Empire. The previous installation of June 2015 began to wrinkle. We called Empire and an installer came out later that summer and restretched the hallway, but said that he could not fix the bedroom because it was not on his work order. In June of 2016, a realtor suggested that we have the carpeting in the dining room and living room replaced due to the color. This was original carpeting from 2004 and still looked very good.

We did replace it, however, on the recommendation of the realtor, with a more neutral color. Again, we chose Empire. This installation was $1329. The representative did not give us a contract but said it was on her tablet and she would send it. We never received a contract and the preinstallation form was empty and undated. In June of 2017, the living room and dining room began to wrinkle. I called Empire on June 26, 2017, and they said that they would have to charge me to fix it because it was out of warranty by about three weeks. I spoke with a manager and he said if an inspector came to evaluate it and the reason was poor installation that they would reimburse my inspection fee and fix the carpet free of charge. I explained about the upstairs carpet and he said that the inspector would also look at that carpet installation. The inspector came July 6, 2017 and before he looked at the carpet he wanted to know if I had cleaned it.

I told him no and his response was "Be honest because it will show up if you did anything to it." He proceeded to use a light of some kind to find out if the wrinkling was my fault. He said that he found no fault of mine with either installation and someone would come to stretch it. He also said that I would hear from Tiffany at Empire by July 11 or 12. I never received a phone call so I called Empire on July 18th 2017. They said that someone would call me back. Empire called on July 26th and asked about the stretching. I told the person on the phone nothing had been set up so they set up an appointment for August 2nd 2017. The person making the appointment said that I would get a call between 6-8 AM on 8/2/17. No one called and no one came. I called Empire back twice that day and was assured someone would come but no one came for the stretching.

On that day, I spoke with Richard and Janelle and both said that a message was left for Tiffany. The next morning Tiffany from Empire called and asked if I was satisfied and I explained that it never happened. She again set up an appointment for August 9, 2017. The installer came but explained that the work order was only for the living room and dining room. He wanted me to sign a document stating that everything was completed to my satisfaction. I would not sign the document without writing a disclaimer regarding the upstairs, because he only stretched the downstairs. He said it was due to the fact that he needed more equipment.

When Tiffany called on August 10th 2017, she said that even though the inspector said that the major wrinkles upstairs were also due to faulty installation, it was too far out of warranty and I would have to pay $130 to have Empire restretch the carpet. I told her that I would never deal with Empire again and that I would have a local carpet installer fix it for me. We may even have to buy new carpet due to the fact that the nap of the carpeting in our bedroom is totally matted and flat. I realize this is quite lengthy but so is our relationship with Empire. I am copying this to the Better Business Bureau not as a complaint but so they can have on record that faulty workmanship is not always seen as a reason for Empire to work with their customers. They did in fact follow their warranty of one year to the letter and even went a little farther with a few weeks beyond one year.

It is very disheartening, however, that a company as large as Empire cannot admit to faulty workmanship even after two years and fix something for a long time, loyal customer that had a spending history of $8883. I would hope that the BBB would keep this on file for others who experience this with the NEW Empire. I will certainly be sure that all my friends, work associates and my husband's work associates know that Empire is in the business to make money not satisfy customers.

Worst experience I have ever had. I wanted to install vinyl flooring in my tenants apartment. The salesman came for the quote and pulled up a portion of the carpet. There was some tile underneath the carpet. The salesman said that the tile was ok and did not have any asbestos on it, he took a 10% deposit and ordered the flooring. The installers came a couple of days later. They took a picture image of my check before proceeding with the job. They pulled up the carpeting, cutting it into multiple pieces. Then they called me down to the apartment and told me the small section of tile around 3sf had asbestos and they would not complete the job. Now that the carpet was in multiple pieces so they could not put it back as customer service said they could do.

I was on the phone with multiple customer service reps and the salesman to no avail. The installers left and I was left with the apartment in disarray. All of the bedroom furniture moved into other rooms. I tried to cancel the order, as they had my check, but they kept giving me the run around. Saying the local Boston branch needed to reach out to me before they could cancel the order and get me money back. At this point I stopped payment of the debit transaction from my checking account. The next day I could see that the debit transaction of over $2,000 was being processed from my checking account. Luckily, the stop payment worked and they were unable to STEAL the funds from my account.

Finally, got a voicemail from a rep saying they would install carpet over the tiles. (P.S they did not need to remove the tiles, could have just covered over the tile with the vinyl flooring as they were willing to do with the carpet). I did not want carpet. I would have just kept the carpet that was there and had it cleaned. Left multiple messages to this rep and was told multiple times someone from the Boston branch would be contacting me. Last message I left with the rep I stated I would be filing a police report if the debit from my checking went through, finally got a response. Was assured that the order was being cancelled. Hired another contractor and had vinyl flooring installed and was also around $700 cheaper.

Honestly, I was done moving on, lesson learned until today. Just got off a call from a collection agency for Empire Today trying to get the $2,000+ from my checking account. I am furious not only did they displace my tenants for 3 days till I could get someone to do the install, cost me 8+ hours on the phone with reps and on hold, being hung up on, now they are contacting me through collections! How is this possible. They didn’t do the work or give me the flooring. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.

The entire process has been a mess and I have talked to multiple people about the situation. Some things are being corrected, others are not. Within 10 minutes of the flooring being put in, we noticed scratches on the floor. There are small chips out of the floor in a few areas. Debris was left outside of our home and the house was a dusty mess from the sawdust. We were told this would be a fairly easy process and it was anything but. Our stove has a burner that didn't work after the installers moved it.

When I go to clean the floor, you can see a film all over places which I am assuming is glue. We have tried getting it off, but it still can be seen when the floor is wet. I called after installation because the chemical smell was overpowering. We were told that was going to go away in about 48 hour. It has been 2 weeks and it still has a chemical odor to it. It is awful! We are being given a small refund for our problems and someone is coming to change the boards that are damaged. I don't think anything can be done about the odor. I would never use this product again and it upsets me greatly that we spent over $10,000 on new flooring that I am not happy with.

The representative of Empire Today that came out was a straightforward kind of guy — no tricks, no games — so I had them install a carpet in my home. But I was puzzled because it appears that Empire sells the carpet and subcontracts the business, so my carpet installation was not done by Empire but rather by a contractor that works for them. I was expecting to see a truck with "Empire" on it, but then this guy pulled up and there was no Empire logo on his truck and the name of his business was different from Empire Today. It turned out that he works for Empire as a subcontractor, but he represented the company well.

The quality of the carpet that I picked was great and I liked its color and texture, but it could have been a little bit more economical on the price. Despite that, everything else was A-okay. As a matter of fact, I've got a project coming up in a couple of months. I need to put laminate flooring in the dining room and a new carpet in the living room. I've had all the other rooms in the house carpeted by Empire and I'm almost in the situation where I'm even afraid to talk to them because I thought their prices were too high. But their prices were a couple of hundred dollars lower than anybody else, so I'll definitely give them a shot.

I renovated and purchased carpeting from a discount house and they had a list of installers. The installers on the upstairs didn't talk to me for six weeks so we had to make a decision about the basement if I needed to put carpeting down there. I watched the Empire's commercial at 5:00 one morning, waiting for the news to come on and decided to give them a call to see what their product would be like, their timeframe and the cost. I talked to a salesman on Thursday and I set up the appointment for Tuesday. They were there about a half hour late than what we had suggested on but I was okay with that because they also contacted me saying that traffic was up from Chicago and they couldn't quite make it. When they came in, they went right to work and installed the carpet within one hour and a half. They were pleasant to work with and they cleaned up after themselves.

If I would have gone with the upstairs installers, it would cost me about $400 to $500 more. I'll be doing business with Empire again and it's my plan to bring them on in on the next house to get at least a bid right from the get-go. I am happy with Empire and they exceeded my expectations. They're on time, on budget and it's a work done well.

I had a sale person (Norm) come and evaluate a flooring project on 8/9/17. I wanted the carpet pulled up and replaced with laminate on the stairs, loft and 2 upstairs hallways. He measured and showed me products. I selected a earthen chestnut product on sale and gave he me a quote of $3162. I remarked that was much lower than I was expecting and was he sure. He recalculated the numbers and said yes due to the HUGE sale they were having. Even told me a contractor was trying to rip me off if they quoted me more for labor then the price he was giving. I was amazed and told him how awesome it was and what a painless experience this was and how thankful I was for such a great company.

I signed the contract and paid my 10% down and scheduled installation for the following week- but told him I was on a tight timeline. Unfortunately the problems started the next day (8/10/17) when "Norm" called me and said he completed the order wrong and the stairs portion should have been separate and it was going to be $2600 more for the project- almost DOUBLE!!! He caught me off guard and I told him I would have to think about it. I called customer service later and have been getting the run around ever since. I have never seen the quote or anything in writing on the updated contract.

The 1800 Customer service will only take my complaint and the manager or owner from the franchise office in FL is supposed to call me back (since 8/10/17 and today is 8/14/17), but no one does. I don't want to talk to the liar salesman. Now I have wasted so much time and effort and I have a tight timeline to get it done. I feel that they are waiting me out for either to just give up or give in. VERY unhappy with how they bait and switch prices and are unaccountable for changing the executed contract after the fact. UNACCEPTABLE business practices!!!

Empire Today did a good job of doing our carpet throughout the house and we were pleased. We actually considered doing it through Home Depot but Empire had a better offer. We liked the padding, carpet, and the color. Chad came to our house to talk to us about installing the carpet. He was nice and knowledgeable, and we appreciated him. They pulled up our previous carpet and the pad, and did a great job. They took care of it and did what they said they would do. The only thing was the installer wasn't apprised about us needing to have the carpet all done in one day. There was a disconnect somewhere between the installers and the people that sell the carpet. But despite that, we would use Empire again.

I had water damage and needed to get something done about it, and I originally went to Home Depot but they dropped the ball because they’re incompetent. So, I had Empire Today install laminate wood flooring in my whole house. The flooring itself is nice and I like it. But I'm sorry that I went with Empire because I don't like their handling of the insurance portion of the whole agreement. The gripe I have with them is that they won’t itemize the work that they've done so the insurance can pay out. That's poor business practice and absolutely ridiculous, and it's costing me money in addition to what I have to pay out.

The sales rep said that they had to do continual flooring because the damage was done in a specific area, but they can’t replace the flooring in that area without replacing it everywhere else as otherwise the flooring won’t match. But instead of itemizing the work done and allowing for the insurance company to pay out according to the continual flooring, they sent me a generalization which is not working right now. Then I cannot get justice by dealing with Empire directly. They keep sending me the same thing over and over again, and giving me the same line.

I can’t reiterate enough that Empire Today doesn’t deal with insurance companies. The work is financed to Wells Fargo which I’m going to pay in a few days and then I'll be done with Empire unless something goes wrong with the flooring. I need to use the insurance and hopefully nothing will come up with that. Maybe they’ll come up with some other little known, seldom used excuse for not living up to the agreement. I'm very dissatisfied with the customer service. I will never do business with Empire again and I would not recommend them to anybody asking me about getting any type of flooring.

I was hoping that Empire Today would match the existing vinyl that they put in before, but what they put was a different shade. That’s okay, though. I can live with that. However, the guy should’ve brought in more than one sample to match the shade. He’s a new guy, so he probably didn’t know that. He was friendly, and he took his time and measured everything right. The only thing I didn’t like was that their prices were more expensive than before. Their linoleum was around $800, now it’s $1000 for even less than what I bought before. The carpeting they put in was nice and comfortable. It looked good and I was pleased with that. Their reps told me to use steam on my carpet and not soap, that otherwise it would ruin my warranty.

Home Advisor contacted Empire Today when I asked for flooring contractors. Empire sent out Jay to do the quote. As soon as he saw how small the job was (31 square feet in a bathroom) I could tell that he had immediately lost interest. I got the feeling he was just going through the motions and that if I did go with them, they wouldn't think twice about rescheduling my job if a bigger job came along. The day after that I had an email "reminding" me of an appointment that I did not schedule. I replied that they'd already sent someone out to quote. A couple of days later, I received another email "reminding" me of another appointment that I did not schedule. Then I received a phone call "reminding" me of another appointment. I explained what had happened and that I was not going with Empire and to take my name and other information off their list.

I received a 3rd email "reminding" me of another appointment. About 3 days later I received a second phone call "reminding" me of an appointment. I explained AGAIN what had happened and asked them to remove my name and number from their list. I didn't want any further communication from them as I was not going to hire them. At least that person apologized. On top of that I have been receiving promotional emails from them for the past 6 weeks or so. I have unsubscribed FOUR (4) times and yet the emails keep coming. I am not impressed with Empire's communications process and am tired of receiving unwanted emails from them. It is doubtful that I would ever consider them for any job in the future.

I was trying to laminate a lot of carpet and I had wood laminate installed in the living room and hallway by Empire Today. The price was reasonable and the customer service was good. But the guy that came here to give me the estimate made a mistake and didn’t measure the two closets at each end of the hall, and that didn’t come up in the price.

Two guys and a girl came to install the flooring and they were here for quite some time. They were great people and very polite. The materials were supposed to be here at 9:00 o’clock but these didn’t get here until 11:00 o’clock, and the installers were here until 8:00 o’clock at night, finishing the job. They asked me if that was all right because they didn’t want to come back another day. That would've been crazy and I wanted to get the job done. I thought the installers would be running short on materials so I told them to forget the closets. But they actually had plenty of materials — a whole box and four other pieces — left over, though they weren't authorized to install the extra closets because that was what their papers said. But they did excellent work and the flooring installed was fantastic. I might have some other work for Empire. There's still a lot of work to be done and I want to keep good with them.

I had carpet in the living room, dining room and bedroom of my home done by Empire Today. I've had the carpeting for a week now and I like the color. Randy, the guy that sold it to me, was a sweetheart. There were three techs who came to put my carpet in but they hardly speak any English, though one of them was better than the other two and he was the main spokesperson. However, when it came to paying for my purchase, I had to write a check and he wrote my routing number, account number and everything off to this other person, which I could tell were speaking Spanish. I didn't understand them and I felt I was out on a limb. It was very confusing for me and I felt uncomfortable with it. I told them to put $500 on my Discover. Then, I called back the next day and talked to somebody that spoke English and asked him of what kind of transactions the techs put through on me.

Also, they laid a big table on top of my dining room chairs and one of the sides are completely down and the falling itself won't go back up. So, I'm sitting here with two dining room chairs that don't look good anymore. These dining room chairs are only about a year old and are discontinued now, but Empire Today would only give me $98 for a new one. I spent $2300 for this, so I thought they would do more for me.

Worst experience of my life. Salesman was fine though he said he would email me a copy of my contract and it was never emailed. Set up an install for Jul 7th 2017. Scheduler called the day prior to confirm, installers called morning of install and let me know arrival time... they were on time. Once they were here they started telling me they wouldn't move some of my furniture because it was too heavy... I could move it myself. They also told me to confirm the carpet but once it was installed it was final. It didn't look to me what I picked out. I couldn't confirm it because I didn't get the contract.

Called the salesman...no answer. They ended up leaving. The salesman returned my call and told me it was a good thing that I turned them away because it was the wrong carpet. Said they would be back the following Friday to install, Jul 14th. After that, salesman boss called and left a message saying installers were returning (the same day) with the correct carpet. They didn't show. She said she emailed me the contract again... I did not receive it. Wasn't in junk folder either.

To date, today is August 11th, no call back, no carpet, my house is in shambles because I moved so much stuff to get it off the floor. Pictures off walls. Had to take house off the market because it's a mess. Who knows what sales opportunities I missed. Sent message to salesman saying my order is cancelled. Clearly they don't want my business.

We had used Empire before to carpet our entire home and we were satisfied with it. We got them again to install engineered hardwood flooring at home but I’m not completely satisfied. The cost was good and the product has been okay but since we have a concrete floor the hardwood flooring would not be even. So, we get a lot of cracking as we walk on the floor. They fixed certain areas where it was very noticeable that the floor was not level. Then I had to call them back because in one of the areas, it was very noticeable to the point where the wood was going down. They came back and corrected that.

I should’ve done a little bit more research on the placing hardwood on a cement slab because I think that I would’ve chosen another product or we would have done something a little bit more because I don’t like the cracking sound as I walk on the floor. However, the installers were very good. When I asked questions, they gave me the answers and I really appreciated that. The installation went fairly smooth and was done in a timely manner, as well. Plus I like the look of the floor once it was installed. Empire is a good company and I would recommend them.

I contacted Empire Today online to schedule an estimate for carpet. The sales person showed up on time. He however parked on my neighbor's lawn and caused a commotion that resulted in the two of them yelling at each other. I invited him in nevertheless. The sale person took measurements electronically and sketched the two areas. He asked what type of carpet I wanted and gave me two choices. I selected one and he went to do the estimate and told me that was no longer available. So really I had one choice. I asked him for the density of the carpet and he told me he did not know it. I asked him the face weight and he was able to tell me it was 64 oz. He gave me the estimate and we agreed to have them do the work. He had me sign at least 6 documents electronically and several paper ones. However, he did not give me anything before he left. Not even a business card.

He did tell me that I would receive the documents electronically and the date of installation (10 days from the appointment date) and time. 3 days later I had not received any documents so I called Empire Today and was told I had to contact the sale person. I asked for his phone number and stated he had not given me a business card. They first had to call him and see if it was okay to give me his number. They gave me his number. When I called him it went to voice mail, but he did return my call within 1/2 hour. However, he told me that I would have to call the company to get the e-mail. He no longer had access to it. So the next day I called Empire Today again and asked for the contract to be e-mailed to me. I was told that the e-mail would be sent in 1 - 3 business days. I inquired why it took this long and was told it was "their" procedure.

After I hung up I was still not sure I had made the right decision. I tried to find the carpet he had sold me to find out more specifications for it. After much searching I found the Pleasant Valley carpet listed on the Empire Today website only under warranty and discovered it was manufactured by Phenix. However when you go to the Phenix website there is no such carpet listed. The next day my husband received a voice mail from the installer asking to return the call and confirm the installation. I had asked the salesman to only use that number if they were not able to reach me. I had not received any call regarding the installation. I called the number left by the installer and was told the same appointment date but was told they would call me between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on that date to let me know what time they would arrive to do the installation.

I asked for a smaller time frame and was told "this is our procedure". At this point I was sure I had made a mistake and asked for the order to be cancelled immediately. The person I was talking with said they would need to transfer me to the cancellation department. I was on hold over 5 minutes before "Davon" answered. He was a hard salesman and attempted to convince me not to cancel the order. Twice he asked me to hold while he processed the cancellation and each time he came back with an attempt to keep my business by lowering the price. The first was a $250 reduction in price from $2,600 to $2,350. The second time he offered $2,000. If they can afford to reduce the price by 23% at this point, they obviously are overcharging their customers. Davon made comments that he would be able to micro manage the installation from here and all would go well.

I stated that Empire Today should have all employees be willing to offer their best not just the last guy attempting to save the sale. I finally had to tell him that even if he gave it to me free I would not take the carpet due to the issues I had gone through in the last 5 days. He finally did process the cancellation and gave me a cancellation #, but when asked to e-mail it to me he told me that he had no way to e-mail me anything at this point. My experience was not that different from at least 10 others in Florida and I should have read the reviews prior to getting a quote. I am looking elsewhere for carpet in my own community with a store front and people who care.

The purpose of this correspondence is to express my disgust and disappointment with Empire. For a company that has extensive advertisements on television and stands firm by their mission to please customers, they have really shown me what customer service should never be. My first disastrous experience with Empire was on 7/8/2015 order #** (Owings Mills, MD). After shopping around and getting quotes from different companies to install carpet in my house I just purchased, I made a conscious decision to go with Empire because of the representation of the company over the phone, and in person when the representative came out to give me an estimate.

The initial meeting went great and I was given a date for installation. The installers, contractors that Empire uses and goes with the lowest bidder, came out and had to take cable wiring off of various parts of my wall throughout my house. After the carpet was installed, the gentleman informed me he was finished and asked me to sign some documents. Prior to signing the documents, I informed him I wanted to see the work that was done.

As I checked out each of the rooms, I noticed that the wiring, that was removed by Empire, was still hanging. I asked the gentleman if he was going to finish the work by placing the wires back where he found them, and he informed me that he would not. I could not understand his resistance, for he was the one that removed these wires. I asked him again to please put all the wiring back as he found it and he again said he wasn’t doing it. At this point I became upset and told him to get out of my house. I called Empire and informed them of this unprofessional behavior by a contractor they hired and told them that my install was not complete. Of course, they apologized for this experience and tried to send the installer back continuing to apologize. After that experience, I vowed I would not utilize Empire again.

Although I had a tumultuous experience the first time, I decided to give Empire another chance. I again shopped around for quotes on replacing my kitchen floors and because of the promises from the salesperson, I put my faith in Empire, unfortunately, again (order #**). The salesperson took measurements and gave me a price and date for installation after receiving my 10% down payment.

The day of the installation, I took off from work (losing money for the day), disconnected my gas stove, and disconnected my refrigerator placing the food items in a couple of coolers prior to the installers’ arrival. The installers arrived and were professional upon greeting me. Within a few minutes of their arrival, I noticed them looking at the floor and discussing something in Spanish. Shortly after I was informed that they were not going to be able to perform the installation because of an issue they observed, within minutes, with my sub-floor. Of course, this issue was going to cost me a significant amount of extra money. The installers stated that this was something the salesperson should have noticed and factored in with the estimate. I lost money for the day, had to reconnect my refrigerator, and lost various food items all for nothing.

As a consumer I just thought you should know that I have never experienced such an unprofessional inconsistent company in my life. Your attention to detail is horrible and all your company seems to care about is completing a sale. The sales personnel only cares about getting that commitment and could care less about the ending result. I was the fool for giving your company a second chance and I will inform everybody within my sub-division about my experience. This is a terrible representation of your company and your company as a whole should be ashamed.

You get what you pay for. It was the lowest price I could find around here. Paid over $3,600 for a high quality carpet. The installers completed everything in one day vs the 3 days that was given as an estimate. I know some rooms were very large but I wasn't expecting to be able to see the seam that easily. I ended up with a broken house fan, broken outlet covers and a damage foam mattress topper. Consider the things you will find broken over the next few days into your budget.

They are the ones I would give all the credit to. So it took 3 weeks in all when it was only supposed to take 2 days. The carpets look good but because of the people who came in last to do it. However, when we called them back for a quote on replacing the carpet in our boys room, the guy who came out gave us one price which we thought was a bit too high but we decide to think about it. We were expecting him or a representative to call us back and discuss it (like the first job they performed) but they never did! My wife had to call back and when she did the representative said they had no record of the quote!! They then send out another guy who gave us a quote that was even higher than the first. (This led us to believe that the first guy did not give a quote the company was pleased with so they fabricating losing the records in order to give the quote they preferred). It was our intentions to use them for future jobs but given this experience we are inclined to just use someone more consistent and reliable in their pricing methods.

We had spend two weeks painting the rooms to be carpeted, and when they installed the carpet in one of the rooms, they scraped up my baseboard trim pretty badly. I will now need to sand down the baseboards and repaint if I want a smooth finish. Not something I am looking forward to doing with brand new carpet.

Cost and quality were good and what I was looking for. So I went with Empire because of the schedule as they were able to turn it around to fit my schedule much better than the other guys. The interaction was great as well. They gave me a lot of different scenarios and options, worked with me on the pricing.

The carpet installation was a great experience. The guys that came were really cordial and just kept going and got the job done. However, the hardwood flooring was a little bit odd. The original people that came to install it looked at it and said that they couldn’t do it. They knew the job which looked like a tough one. They had a big job that they were doing next, but I don’t think they wanted to be bothered by my little job and just made a bunch of excuses and said they didn’t want to touch it. It was a little bit aggravating. I had to get it rescheduled. A different installer came and those guys were great. They took care of it. Overall, it was a good experience. It was convenient and they did what they said they would do.

However, there were a couple of little snafus on the installation but she helped make sure that everything got done. It had to be different crews and there was a sequence and they said that the carpet had to go last. But when doing a whole house installation, it would have been nice if Empire Today had crews that had people that did ceramic tile, wood, and carpet, instead of it being done after the house had been torn up for a couple months already. Because by then, you just want to get it over with. Nevertheless, the installation was great.

Installers weren't knowledgeable because carpet is buckling 2 years after installation. If carpet was installed correctly, using a power stretcher, then carpet would not be doing this. I called the company and they said 'sorry, they only stand behind it for 1 year.' Well guess what, buckling won't start 'til 2-5 years after being incorrectly installed. I've received 2 quotes from companies and for 2 rooms, stretching is going to cost us around $400. Both companies told us if carpet were installed right the first time this problem would have never occurred. The said 2 companies also told me they back their work with a lifetime warranty because when done right the carpet will not buckle. Customer service is one of the highest values of a solid company and the fact Empire won't budge to help us speaks volumes.

I have purchased flooring from Empire Today in 2 different cities and NEVER experienced what I endured in North Carolina. I contacted Empire Today for new hardwood flooring and the salesman came out to show me their offerings within the designated timeframe. The salesman asked for $50 deposit and then full payment when the installer arrives given I was paying cash. The installers arrived and I paid the balance with a check. The installers went out to their truck for 1.5 hours and came back in the house stating 'the system was slow' and returned the check to me as a receipt. They proceeded with the installation of the floor.

After the 1st day, they started to have issues with the size of my steps and I had to call the salesman twice. Each time he promised to come out to the house within the hour and showed up 2 hours later. The installers spoke little English and struggled to articulate their concerns. Anyway, when the salesman showed up the last time, he gave me 2 numbers of individuals to call to handle repayment of a picture that was broken by the installers. He even supplied their email addresses. Of course, NO RESPONSE from those individuals. I ended up calling customer service to get a claim started.

Now the fun begins - I went on vacation which the salesman knew. I got a couple of calls while on vacation stating that the installers made a mistake in giving me back the check and when I return from vacation, they wanted to pick up the check. Fine. While still on vacation, I was contacted again asking me if they could come to collect the check. I explained I am still on vacation and it will wait until I return. I was then told, "you won't get your money for the picture until your balance is paid." Finally, the same woman called me with an attitude asking me if I was ready - which I replied yes, but to have the installer contact me directly as I will not sit around waiting for them to show up as we had to do with the salesman.

4 more days passed and finally the installer contacts me and he picks up the check on the same day! Empire Today processed the check on 0714 and it cleared my account 0717. Today is 08/07 and I have yet to receive my money back for the broken picture either by check or credit card. Tonight I was told, "well if you paid by check - they will issue a check, but oh- I see you paid the deposit with a ccard and the local company is closed and we will have to open a claim request." I have a vacation home that I contemplated using Empire Today to put the flooring in, but I can assure you this is not going to happen given this experience. They need to come into the millennium and figure out how to electronically process checks w/o requiring the hard form.

Additionally, some courses in customer service and honoring your commitments is in order! I shouldn't have to chase them down to issue repayment for damage in my home after the balance was paid in full 3 weeks ago. Viri confirmed they had notations they were to issue the refund when balance was paid in full and yet it did not happen. It's obvious their management team is not interested in providing exemplary customer experience. If you live in NC, find another flooring company. There are some good ones out there that care about their customers based on feedback from friends in the area. BTW - the installers did a great job, just left a lot of dust which was expected. Too bad their supporting team did not offer same quality of service.

We agreed on 5:30, so I get my realtor to open the door and me and my wife leave work early to get there.

5:45 rolls around and he isn't there. I texted him and he says “I will be there 8:30-9:00pm”, because he moved an appointment from 7-9 to my spot. What kind of business doesn't inform the customer that they are moving their appointment??? I should’ve looked at all the negative reviews and not made this appointment. Empire Today installed our carpet. We figured out that Empire had a couple of good things to offer at the time that we made the decision. One of the factors was that they had good pricing on the project that we had in mind. Their customer service was good as well. We were able to get someone at the house pretty fast since we had a bit of a time constraint with getting this project completed.

We just had a couple of hiccups along the way. Initially, the measurements taken at the time they did the first consultation was apparently incorrect. At the day when we had to get the installation done, the installers came out but due to bad weather, they couldn't do it, which I understand since it was not under our control. They had to reschedule and I had to take time off again the second time. They came by, started the work, and realized that they were short on materials because the measurements taken were not accurate.

So, I had to take a third day off from work to try and figure out how that could be handled. They had to come back in on a third day to complete it. What should have technically been a one day's job, ended up being in a span of three days. It was definitely not a very pleasant experience, only because I do have a tough time getting time off from work. It put a bit of pressure and that definitely worked against us. For three days, I was taking care of the needs at home, the family and the pets that we have. It was relatively inconvenient but we did get past that last stage.

The price and the quality of the product were good, but since the installation was done on the second floor of the house, we found out that the floor has been creaking a little bit in some spots after the installation. We're starting to find the issues in small pockets so there are just minor issues that we would like to have that looked at, at some point in time. The rest of the experience has been good. We would definitely consider Empire Today for future projects, hoping that things get better as far as the measurement and scheduling are concerned.

We got carpet and hardwood floors from Empire Today. More than anything, we chose them for their price. The carpet met our expectations but we're a little disappointed with the flooring. We have a dog which scratches and I told the Empire team what kind of dog we had. When I asked the salesman, he said the hardwood flooring is durable and it would hold up, but it’s not. We have a bunch of rugs down to try to prevent it, but the scratches can be seen. When the regional manager called us to reschedule the quarter round, I told him about the scratches and he just apologized.

At first, we were going to get something that matches the fireplace a little bit better, then we changed our minds so they had to come back to do around our fireplace for a quarter round. The quarter round looks a little cheaper than what I would have liked and when we put in a new door, we found out that the quarter round was not even stained. It’s like a sticker that they put on it so I’m a little disappointed about that as well. I also know it’s a floating floor, but there’s a couple of places that is kind of soft and I can feel it just from walking across. I didn’t notice it as much until my son came home and said there’s a loose board. But it’s not loose, it just gives a little more than elsewhere. I don't know if that was supposed to be that way or not, but I’m not real super pleased with the hardwood. The installers were great though.

UPDATED ON 10/28/2017: So apparently there is nothing that can be done about the soft spots that are in our hardwood flooring after installation, with the exception of pulling up entire floor, or putting an unsightly "spacer" or something like that in the flooring. Two sets of installers have come and gone without correcting the issue, not agreeing if the flooring needs fixed or not. Two times we took off work to get the issue fixed, and still no resolution. Was told we would be contacted by the company to see if they could come up with a solution, but nothing yet. Worst decision we have ever made on going with Empire. Unsatisfied with the quality of the flooring and definitely unsatisfied with the installation of the flooring. No one really seems to care how we feel about it.

Called Corporate office to express my concerns and was told someone would call me back... That was 2 weeks ago. After the installers were here yesterday, they told me the supervisor would call me to see if we could come up with a compromise on the situation... That was 24 hours ago. At this point, I am so frustrated with the entire experience and have no desire to let them back into my home. We may not get a resolution, but I would never recommend this company to anyone. If anyone I know is getting new flooring, I will certainly caution them about Empire. If there was a "0" star rating, that is what I would give. 0 for Sales; 0 for installation and 0 for customer service!

Wooden flooring was installed in my home by Empire Today. They put it in the living room and dining room. I considered other companies but Empire was on sale at that time. I like the color of the wood. However, the wood that they have on the samples didn't look like the wood that they brought here. So, they had to bring the samples back over to make sure that I was getting the right stuff. It was frustrating.

In their commercial on TV, their guys came in and have the Empire shirts on. They look like they work for the company but that's false. Instead, these are private contractors that work for themselves. One guy that came out was worried if he was going to get paid because I didn't let him install the flooring. So he had to come back and he was more worried about his money. They're a private entity so they don't work for Empire. By them not working for Empire, they don't have customer service issues. And Empire doesn't have to pay anybody. They just pay the contractors a flat rate for putting on the flooring and then they go about their business.

I can call this guy on the phone and he can put any floor I want to. But Empire doesn't want that. They all want to have a private contractor. So Empire doesn't have to pay vacation time, sick time and offering them a pension. But Empire needs to change that policy. They need to train people to put on their floors and start paying people to work for them solely. Also, if they're going to put them on TV with uniforms on, they need to come in my house with uniforms on. They're preaching one thing and selling another, but what you get is something altogether different.

I had Empire Today before when I first moved in here 10 years ago for my living room carpet. Their availability was so good and I liked their price too so I used them again. I have a two-family and I had the upstairs living room carpet done by them. The old renters were not up there then and I was getting a new renter on June 1st and they were able to put the carpeting in two days before the renters come. No other company could do that. They were very accommodating and the carpet's color is good. It was a good experience.

The other companies had contractors and instead of doing everything, they do bits and pieces. I’ve done that in the past but I’m older now and we weren’t interested in that. With Empire Today, they're able to do it all pretty much in one shot. We had carpeting installed in my home and they took care of everything in one day. The carpet is fine.

We had our salesman come to the home. Settled on a $15,000 price for hardwood, LVT and carpet. Hardwood installers were fantastic. Took 2 days. LVT installers were 2 days late as original installer didn't show. Finally showed on the 3rd day at 3 p.m. after 23 phone calls to customer no service. Didn't install subfloor in one bathroom. Left appliances in our dining room, didn't bring materials to reinstall toilets and were going to leave at 7 p.m. with no toilet for us to use for 24 hours. Came late next day and finished. Grout is already showing cracks and bubbles, and didn't install transitions in 3 rooms properly. Left a mess we had to clean up.

Next day was carpet installation. First contractor showed, refused to remove floating laminate flooring in 2 of the 3 bedrooms (one was already cleared to the bare subfloor). Said they were going to van to call a manager, then drove away. 14 calls later finally got a local office to reschedule carpet installer. 2nd installer never called, we obtained their number and had to schedule ourselves. Did a decent job with the exception of the transition from master bedroom to master bath - said the LVT installers didn't do a proper transition so now we have a huge dip in the floor and the carpet is pulling away from the entrance. This was after we had to harass the 2nd installer into showing up when he said he would as our furniture was being delivered that afternoon and could not be rescheduled without a $650 fee (we had already rescheduled furniture delivery 3 times due to Empire's inept installation scheduling).

So now, we've made countless posts, emails, calls and nothing but a call back on Monday 7-31 from a "manager" who said he would review the situation and get right back to me the following morning. Today is Friday 8-4 and still not a word. We were sold on the quality product, the fast installation and the guarantee/warranty of service - if we can't get a resolution on week after installation how are we to trust that Empire will stand behind any issues that may arise years down the road? I am very appalled that we were sold products that we had to take years to save for, didn't finance (paid in full for the entire install) and are treated like we don't exist.

The salesperson was nice and did a good job during the sales call. We purchase 960 SF of solid oak hard wood floors at almost $10,000. During the sales call, he told me to call him with any follow up questions and if he doesn’t answer to leave a voice mail. He said there was no need to call him more than once because he listens to voice mails and he would call me back. I had some questions after he left the house, so I called him. He did not call back, so I called him again and emailed him too. He did not respond, so I called one more time and forwarded my original email with the questions and asked for a response or call. I never heard from him again. For a sale this large, I couldn’t believe he ignored me.

The installation went well, but after the installers were gone, I found some 1/4 round base scraps in the area where they had been cutting the materials from installation. The base is compressed paper with a film of white paint or plastic film, I’m not sure. Realizing I did not get real wood 1/4 round base, I am now wondering if the wood flooring threshold trim and trim around my fireplace and intersection with my basement stairs is real wood, or also compressed paper with a fake wood finish on it.

I spoke to a customer service person and she took notes about the sales person, but the installation issues about the 1/4 round trim, thresholds, trim around the fireplace and stairs was over her head, so she said she would have someone from installations call me. I spoke to the customer service person about a week or so ago, but I never heard from Empire Today about my wood trim concerns or anyone else from Empter Today again. With as large of sale as I gave them, I am very disappointed with their customer service and follow up. Finally, the whole experience with Empire Today is pretty impersonal because most of your communications with them is either from automated calls or emails. I really wouldn’t recommend them to a friend and I don’t think I will ever use them again.

We needed the carpet installed quickly and a guy said, "We could install it now," which he did. My husband said he was really nice and very professional. This was $600 for both rooms and it was a nicer carpet and a nicer pad. We could have found somebody to do it but we didn't find very many people that would install it. It was getting to be a problem for that. We would have paid somebody about $300 but the quality was nowhere near what Empire did. So we'll keep them in mind for all our future projects. Overall, it was affordable and I got a good product. I was pretty impressed and the carpet looks marvelous in the home.

Empire sent a "specialist" out to look at it and I was told that the reason the board turned is because there is too much Humidity in the air. If that was the case then why come the other boards right next to it did not turn. So they said they could not do anything about it. All I can say is I know I won’t be using Empire on my next project. This floor was done in 2013, but it suppose to have at least a 10 year warranty on it and I would not recommend them to anyone. That then changed at least 3 times that day. Then there was a bubble, they had cut the material and it was visible to me, while trying to fix the bubble they tore a big section. So I wasted a whole day and it still was not complete. I had to call back for them to come do the whole thing again! More problems than it was worth!! Roman showed up on time. That is the only positive I can note. We were getting an estimate to replace carpeting. After he finally measured, he brought in samples. I had asked him to bring in the samples of carpets that are under the half price sale. When I asked about the fiber content, he first had no idea what I was talking about. He finally figured out that all of his samples were polyester. I asked after nylon. He then came back in with some samples of nylon, and then blatantly proceeded to do the false news dance, telling us that no one was buying nylon anymore since it is so outdated (what??!!).

Anyhow, he clearly had no idea what he was talking about. Ultimately, we asked for an estimate on one of the least expensive polyesters- one with a 15 year warranty. His quote came to $7500 and then said it would be only half of that with the sale. I told him that the two other estimates we received from two local small flooring stores were for $2800 and $2200, both for nylon carpet with 25 year warranties. He asked then what I wanted to spend?! What??!! I told him that I had expected Empire to come in below the other two since they weren't on sale and were nylon, which is a more expensive fiber. He asked me if I wanted him to "make a call" to see if he could match the price. I told him not to bother, as there was no way I was going with Empire (disgusted with him, his lies, his lack of knowledge, and of his inflated quote). That was that. Never again. What a waste of my time!

It was not a good experience! 7/6/2017. First day was horrible, they wanted their money when they walked in, didn't really speak English in fact told us they didn't, but the one was able to ask for a cable to charge his phone, which he used to watch what looked like a video of a girl while installing the floor. They tried to skip using luan, didnt want to use the luan that we were charged for, they said our floors were fine which they were not. I can send you a picture of when we stopped them cause they were just putting the paper or whatever it is over old 5x12 register holes in the floor. We had to call the 1-800-empire number to get them to use the wood or we wanted to be reimbursed for it. They said a truck was on its way with wood.

Told us any more problems to call the phila. number, which throughout the day I called three times to have a recording answer and tell me all lines were busy and I should leave a message and number and they would call back. NEVER HAPPENED. Magically 3 pieces of luan came out of the back of the van so the one guy could start. They kept telling us their boss was going to call us, no one called us. Made messes in other rooms that were not being worked on. They left about 9 pm. Said be back 1st thing Friday to finish, 9 am never heard anything so once again we call the Philadelphia number and guess what, recording to leave number. So I called the empire number again, talked to someone, told her what was going on, was put on hold. When she came back said they were loading and leaving soon, should be there in about 1-11/2. Eventually got a phone call that they had to stop at home depot to pick-up supplies. Really???

My husband made me leave cause this whole thing was causing me to be so stressed. So our daughter gets me to leave, about an hour later I receive a call saying that the check is no good. I call the bank, they tell me that no one's even tried to run the check and to have empire call them. Meanwhile empire is saying that if they try to run the check again they will have to pay a fee. So I come back home (at this point I've lost it, started telling them to just take the floor out and leave), I take the one guy to the bank and they give him a certified check. We go back to the house and my husband gets me to leave again. So about 4 hours later we come back and they're still not done. Finished I think about 6. So the floor is done looks good till while cleaning over the weekend I found a cut in the floor. This is like a never ending nightmare!

I have pictures from some of the things that they said didn't need fixed that we insisted they use the luan that we paid for but did not bring to use. Also a picture of the cut in the floor, that will now not be moisture resistant. I sorry but you asked. I would not recommend this experience to anyone else... Once they received the short review (their character count that they allowed was very little) they called us but we missed the call. So we call back wait on hold for someone to pick up because they are experiencing high call volume, 15 minutes later a woman answers and asks me to hold a minute, incredibly they transferred my call to the Philadelphia number to once again be told to "leave name, number, and message and they will call you back." We're beginning to think this all some stupid joke.

Quick update. I had called them again last week, and told them what was going on and ask to speak to someone in charge. The gentleman took my name, my number. I have his name and he said he would pass it along to the president of the company's office. And I should hear something back within a few days. Two hours later someone from the president's office called me and said that he would have somebody from the Philadelphia office call me. We are now one week later and I still have not heard anything once again. Meanwhile just finding more things wrong with the floor. Think they should get ahold of me.

Mind you the stains were in any room where something large had been sitting, as well as other awkward locations. Not one room but several some we didn't even frequent, which we explained. They said they would take it back and someone would be in contact. As expected we were told it was nothing they could do. Well years later the same prints/stains have spread and our in many rooms. I called Empire Flooring to have thin carpet removed and laminate flooring installed. The salesman showed up the next day. He arrived by knocking on my window, not my door. Shaking my head. Ok, he shows me some samples, not many and then quotes me a price for the laminate flooring. I didn't know at that time, it didn't include my vestibule. When I inquired about that area, he proceeded to show me vinyl samples. I thought, well it certainly will have to be replaced with something, so I picked out the vinyl flooring for this small entrance way. On July 1, 2017, 2 men arrive in a unmarked van with no uniforms, identification or safety gear. My uncle had pulled up the carpet before the salesman arrived, so that the salesman can see exactly what was under the carpet. Under my carpet were stick on vinyl tiles and beneath that was hardwood flooring. We had no idea or were notified that Empire Flooring sub-contracts out their installation.

When these 2 men entered, all of a sudden they were making outrageous suggestions that it was unsafe to install the laminate flooring. They proceeded to put a gash in the center of my floor with a huge crowbar and then called the company complaining about it was unsafe to work here! I began to take photos of the floor before they put a huge gash but I went into a major panic because of what was happening here. Empire called me when they were here and told me they would install the flooring. All of a sudden, safety concerns from the 2 men were the topic. All the while, I'm noticing that they arrived with 1. No Uniforms, No Safety Shoes, No Masks, No Protective Eyewear, No Hard Hats, No Gloves, absolutely nothing to protect them when THEY were so concerned about safety!

THEY HAD NO TARPS at all. My house was absolutely filthy. They had street clothes on, sneakers, a nail gun, a huge crowbar. So I decided to cancel and they left. Empire called me as soon as they left and told me they were still outside in the van waiting. I said, "Waiting for what?" I was already having a mini nervous breakdown as my floor was a mess. My new born granddaughter was coming home that upcoming week and they knew that. The man on the phone said I would have to pay for the plywood and the installation. I didn't know what he was talking about. Suddenly, the 2 men return, then leave and return with an additional kid that was waiting outside some Home Depot in another part of the city. So what they did was this in a nutshell. They see an opportunity to damage your home to get another worker on the job, not even sure Empire knows about that part, so the price automatically doubles, after they destroy your floor.

Thank GOD my neighbors have cameras so it was all on film who entered and existed and how haphazard and dirty with all the nails left outside, on my steps in the street, etc! Needless to say how filthy the inside of my home was. In addition, my baseboard electric heater is all damaged and they told me "Oh that's OK, get a new one." If that's what they said. Who knows. They advertise elders entering their room as they move everything and then you enter and everything is just peachy keen. THIS IS NOT TRUE! In fact, it's quite the opposite. They DON'T DO what that television commercial shows you. This is an atrocity of a company. They are very deceitful and actually do more damage by the Spanish speaking Sub Contractors.

I was charged in addition to the small amount of laminate flooring nearly 1400.00 for plywood. Now they are charging me twice for the vinyl in the vestibule. I already paid them 1700.00. But I have to retain an attorney to go to court. I already paid for the floor. That's all they are getting because everyone who did come in to see it actually laughed and told me that Empire is a Rip Off. Also my neighbors thought I hired unlicensed contractors. I informed them, "No I didn't, that was Empire Flooring." Neighbors wanted to know who these 3 guys were. I kept saying It was Empire Flooring. So they sub contract out their work to who knows who. The work is beyond shoddy. Floors creaking, cheap material, charged DOUBLE! I have no idea what kind of floor I had installed. What type of cleaner to use on it. I absolutely knew nothing and still am learning from experienced LICENSED flooring contractors of what I have installed.

Empire Flooring owes me money for all the filthy dirt and dust and damage they have caused me in addition to my mental state. And, by the way, my first grand child could NOT come home to this house because of how dirty you left my home, my couches and everything in here is now in the trash. I suggest you refrain taking advantage of senior citizens, and YES I am a woman. I will have to hire an attorney to sort this out, then we will deal with all the other issues you have caused me. This is my TRUE and HONEST Advice, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER CALLING THEM. Let alone hiring them. They make more modifications to rip people off when no modifications were even necessary. Run from this company.

I have had Empire Today come to my house 3 times. The first was scary and untrustworthy so I call and spoke with someone about him. I was offer a better deal next time I order. The next salesperson who came out was amazing. She put up with my mother like a champion. Very respectful caring and I felt like she really cared about what we wanted and needed like she was only worrying about us. I never seen her again but that's where all the trouble happened after that. The installers was late then when they showed up they are demanding me pay them up front when it was already place online of credit. The installer told me that he will not be installing until he paid like at least 10 times he almost left. Finally someone at Empire pick up the phone and told installer that it was a mix up. That it was already paid... After that the installer was acting very nice. Once done with flooring I thought I would never do business with them.

After the first sales guy and now their installers being nasty and rude. A couple months later I decide to show around for more flooring. After looking around my mom told me to call Empire again... What a mistake... The sales guy was a scam artist in my eyes... He comes out on July 5 and immediately tells me the offer I was trying to get is a rip off just to get people to call. The deal was buy one room get 2 free. He tells me that it's a rip off not fair pricing and he not even in my house. So I was disappointed and told him I'm not interested anymore. He told me he could do a better deal for me 50 percent off. So I gave him a shot. He price me like 1300 for a room now mind you I paid 1100 for the first room and it has 70 more Sq foot than this room. I put a deposit down anyways cause this was my mom birthday gift and install was scheduled for July 28.

I call Empire the next day cause of the way I felt about everything and they lowered the price for what happened. July 28 the day of install I wake up to hear that the install will not be happening cause of installers call out of work. Empire person told me they was sorry and lowered the price by 35 dollars which was like a slap in the face. She and the install manager assure me that they will make my install a priority emergency. So they tell me they could do it Wednesday August 3.

Today is August 3 and I get awaken again to a call that I didn't want to receive. They call me tell me they will not be coming out again due to they have a limit number of installers and they will not be doing mine install... Is my money not good enough? Like I told many times to Empire I have at least 6 other rooms to get done. I try working with this company. I don't know why they will not. Honestly I feel like I'm being discriminated against maybe cause I don't have millions of dollars. I'm in the working class who doesn't have thousands of dollars to get everything done. This last install was a priority but I guess they had better accounts to take care of than mine. So now I have to put my room back together without having flooring done. Thanks Empire Today.

They told us that it’s not really convenient to go full out hardwood if it’s not going to be something we're going to live in for a while because it’s not going to increase the price of the home exponentially. The investing versus the selling isn’t going to be what we would be looking for, so we opted for new carpet. I was really happy with the lady who came and did the bid for us. She knew what she was doing and was very informative and helpful. She was willing to work with us and be there at a certain time. So, we were happy with that aspect of the process. I would definitely recommend Empire Today. I had the most amazing experience in the world with them.

We had gone to various shops and price was certainly a big issue. Empire Today had a carpet we wanted for a price we could afford. And the color was what we wanted also. The sales representative was on time, very knowledgeable, helped us find exactly what we wanted and had it installed when we wanted it, so everything was fine. They were very good and we're happy with the product. As a matter of fact, I've got the gentleman's card and we're gonna call him back and get an estimate on the rest of the basement.

We had carpet and flooring installed by Empire Today. We did flooring for all of downstairs, the kitchen, living room and dining room. Then they also took care of all the bedrooms and loft upstairs. The cost and quality were very good compared to other brands, and we chose them for the deal they had going on. The installation guys were friendly too. It was a good experience and my favorite feature is that it’s waterproof.

I needed to replace my carpet in my basement and install laminate wood in one of the bedrooms upstairs. I checked the price of Home Depot and it was at least $2,000 more expensive. I decided to go with Empire (Big mistake). The first set of Installers came to put down the laminate. I was extremely satisfied with the work they did. They respected my furniture and my house and they cleaned up after they were done. I was very impressed.

Now here it comes, the following Saturday, a new set of installers came to lay the carpet. When they left I called immediately and complained about the mess they left the place in and they did not even sweep the carpet. They left their water bottles (6 in total thrown down) on the freshly installed carpet. The pizza box was left. No one even contacted me regarding that. That's not the bad part. Now when they were finished installing the carpet, they called my attention to mold that was in the basement. He reiterated to me that I need to get it taken care of because it could destroy the house. That particular side of the basement I don't really use so I was not even aware of it. Now, when I start calling companies to come in and have my basement waterproof, they said that the installers should not have placed the carpet down on mold.

They insisted that the Empire company should have that carpet remove and replace or give a refund. I have been trying ever since to get this resolved and no one seems to care. They did care when they took my money but now they are so unprofessional. I spoke with one AVA from the Atlanta area and she said I should go ahead and take that carpet up and she will have them replace it. I am as I speak is getting my basement waterproof but will be left without a flooring as I cannot seem to get in touch with anyone from Empire who is willing to help. Whenever, I speak with anyone, they said they are escalating the process and someone will call me the following day. No one has called. I call two days after that and the same thing, I call almost every day and they place me on hold and never return and this is something that they have done to me on several of my calls.

I felt very robbed and disrespected. I don't know what else to do as this is causing me great stress and I feel very robbed. I was so excited about giving my basement a facelift but instead is left with a new mold infested carpet. There was so many other things wrong with that installation but it took a back seat to mold. I would not recommend Empire to anyone. In fact, I have told so many people about my experience. I must say that if I am given my refund or should I say whenever, Empire decide to make good, I will focus only on the first installers who did such a remarkable job. I had forgotten to mention the date of installation which was July 1st.

Having seen local TV ads for years, Empire Today was my first choice when we tired of our very old carpet throughout upper level of home (3 bedrooms, living room, family room). We decided for carpet in the bedrooms (one used as my home office), laminate elsewhere, with carpet done 10 days before laminate flooring. Prices and choices of install dates beginning 3 weeks later seemed OK, but I was a bit put off my having to "sign" a seemingly endless number of screens on salesman's tablet. Screens were difficult to read and were very briefly explained in rapid-fire succession. I was promised I'd get an emailed copy (I did, but the number of items seemed less than those I had signed). Paid deposit.

While we waited for the first install date to arrive I received 2 further Empire emails. The first requested I call them to confirm readiness for install, which call went OK. The second, the Wednesday morning before the scheduled Thursday install, confirmed the install date but noted the installer would call me sometime between 8 AM and 6 PM when he was ready to come. That is a rather long 10-hour window!

My home office in particular had numerous material requiring removal (6 tall bookcases, completely full) which we felt best to move in advance. My entire computer system (I program) was also dismantled. By the evening before the install date we had finished days of moving either to lower (full basement) floor or into area laminate would be installed a few days later.

Just before 6 PM someone representing the installer called to say they could not come that week after all, would Monday be OK? Though disappointed, I agreed, but I did ask why I had received the Empire email earlier that day confirming they would come. Was told they actually were not the same as Empire (i.e., Empire "farms out" its work to parties unknown to me) and they were not bound by anything Empire promised!!

Mid-day Monday I get an automated call (this kind of thing must happen often to require automating such calls) that the installer was otherwise busy that morning, but would contact me that afternoon. By 5 PM we were fuming. There had been no contact. Finally, about 5:20 PM, the same rep who had called Wednesday and had arranged for the Monday install called again to say they could not come. I asked for what she could commit to and was told no commitment was possible; they were completely booked and no way to EVER come!! I responded they were in breach of contract.

Immediately called Empire Customer Service and, after a bit, was transferred to their Cancellation Department. Interesting they have full-time employees just for cancellations! I was offered a discount on the carpet install; ludicrous since their installer had just told me, and I had reported, there was no way to actually schedule my work! I did receive a promise my deposit will be refunded and, on my request, a cancellation confirmation number. I do expect to receive the refund; not worried about that, as it was done by credit card and previous experience indicates the card company does stand by its satisfaction guarantees.

Summary: Numerous reviews on the ConsumerAffairs web site indicate Empire does have many satisfied customers. However, since their only true involvement apparently is to originate work, then hand it off to other companies, it is no wonder a significant number of truly dis-satisfied also exist. If you are considering Empire, first find out the experiences of other customers IN YOUR AREA. When offered a deal by the visiting sales rep, ask the names and contact information of the actual install companies; then check on them before signing or paying anything. If he can't or won't furnish that info, would that not be a red warning flag?

I had carpeting put up in my third bedroom on the second floor and going up the stairs and through the third floor by Empire Today. Those were done very nicely and beautifully. My problem, however, is that they screwed up with the contract. My original contract might have been $1100 and I had been making some payments through the bank because they tied the contract to a bank. But when I got something in the mail regarding the next payment, it had gone up to $2800. When I called the bank, they told me that they need sixty days to fix it.

I told them I am going to stop payments but they told me to not do that and to continue to make the payments. But I have to wait 60 days while they do some checking up on the forensic on this. I bought what I would consider nice carpeting and I'm very happy with the quality and the installation of the carpeting. But it makes sense to me that Empire is well aware of what is going on with my contract, how they screwed it up and why I am being charged twice. I am not happy with them, the bank and the contract.

I liked that but they don’t do that anymore. My recent experience was about both the vinyl installation in the kitchen and carpeting throughout the house. The cost is a little on the high side but they did a really good job on the kitchen floor. I really liked the gentleman who did the kitchen floor but not so much the people who did the carpet. I had a lot of problems because they messed up the hallway and between all the rooms, there was a gap so they had to send somebody to fix it. The carpet at the stairs are not tight enough and it's sticking out.

My review is for Empire Today in the state of Maine. I have had one of the worst experiences dealing with them over the past few months. I could go on and on about all of the cancelled appointments and excuses for not showing up but there are plenty of those on this site. I just want to warn anyone in Maine that Empire does not have local installation crews that live in the state. All of the work is farmed out to contractors that live in Massachusetts. I cannot get their service people to admit this but here is my assumption of how things work. You are given an installation date that is either on a Tuesday or Thursday (the only dates they install in Maine). On the day of installation, the crews show up at a warehouse and are shown the list of jobs for the day. Based on my experience, it appears that If the crew does not feel like driving 2-3 hours to do your job, they can pass on it and take one closer to home.

I have had a carpet install scheduled on 3 different days and each time I was called the morning of to be told they could not find a crew to do my job. How can that be if I was on the schedule? I even had a service rep tell me that I was put on the VIP list to ensure my install was put at the top of the list. Still ended up getting cancelled. After the 3rd cancellation, I called to ask for a manager. Spoke to a shift supervisor and he apologized and said that I would hear from a local services manager and regional executive. That was over 2 weeks ago and I have not heard from anyone. I have also tried contacting the sales person Jim ** and he just keeps pushing me off to service. Not at all willing to step in and make this right. Take my advice like others have given here and use a local flooring store with their own installation crew. In the end, you will probably pay about the same and have a much better experience.

    Updated review: Aug. 24, 2017

I stated in my initial review (7/31/2017) of my dealings with Empire Today, that I would post an update based on resolution of my original concerns. Empire Today's local general manager contacted me after my review posted. As stated before, everyone that I had any telephone or personal contact with, was always polite. It is the most polite company in which I have ever dealt. I thank God, that after their calls and my follow up calls, the matter was resolved in a way that was eventually most advantageous to me and appears to reflect Empire Today's effort for good customer remediation/service. I especially applaud the intervention of the General Manager, Linda, and the professionalism of the salesperson and installers.

    Original Review: July 31, 2017

My experience with Empire Today has been filled with frustration and dissatisfaction because I received no service when scheduled and no contact from a manager when requested. I wasted precious vacation time to prepare for an installation that did not take place. The human beings I talked to after the problem began were always polite. However I have not talked with someone to resolve the matter or offer any consolation for the anxiety this has caused me. I chose this company because they advertised prompt service.

The only prompt service I received was from the email request for an appointment on 7/19/2017. The salesperson was cordial and professional. I made the salesperson aware that I needed installation of flooring I selected next week while my home business was closed and before my spouse came home from rehab with his wheelchair and other equipment. The salesperson assured me that the installation would take place in the time frame. I scheduled and contracted for installation of the flooring on 7/24/2017. On 7/20/2017 the salesperson telephoned me to agree to installation on 7/25/2017 instead because that was when the installer could do it. I consented to that.

I have a home business with lots of STUFF I removed so that the installers could just move furniture. On 7/25/2017 at 7:51 a.m. I received a call from Empire Today casually apologizing that the installers would not come because the flooring product I ordered was on back order and they would reschedule whenever it was available (in the unknown future). I made the caller aware that was not acceptable since the order was made on 7/19/2017 and there was plenty of time to know that product was not available. I told him I closed my home business for the installation and was not in a position to do it again without it negatively affecting business. I asked to speak with a manager then and he told me a manager would call me that day 7/25/2017. No manager ever called me that day or any other day.

From the Empire Today website, I sent 2 emails about the matter and requested to speak with a manager. I made 3 telephone calls to Empire Today about the matter on 7/25/2017 and attempted the next day. The Empire Today staff I spoke with were always polite and apologetic but would not provide a telephone number or name of a manager for me to talk with, only reiterating that since I was told a manager would call, that they assured me a manager would contact me. That NEVER happened! The salesperson called me after 4 pm on 7/25/2017 to see how the installation was going. I informed her that no installation occurred and rehashed my feeble attempts to talk to a manager and my dissatisfaction. The salesperson apologetically indicated she would check on this matter. I received one last phone contact from the salesperson indicating that the product I ordered may be available in an out of state warehouse.

I did not hear from her again and there was no further progress. I left town for a planned vacation midday 7/27/2017 and returned 7/31/2017. I confirmed that I received no phone calls, emails or mail about this matter. My $200 deposit was not cashed as of 8/1/2017. I want to talk with someone who is in a position to resolve this matter since the terms of the contract were not followed. My home and home business are askew and my spouse is returning home this week to the same flooring impediments. The inconvenience of this experience has been anxiety filled and distressing. I am willing to post an update if Empire Today satisfactorily resolves this matter!

Empire Today installed carpet and hardwood in certain rooms of our new home. Their cost was great and the quality is comparable. Their salesman that came out was second to none and was so explanatory. He gave me a price and he stood by that price. His salesmanship, his customer service and his calling us back when we had questions after he had come out to get his estimate on the spot, were excellent. The other company did terrible in that aspect. They sent somebody out but she didn’t know what she was doing. She couldn’t figure out anything and she said she had to go back to the office. She never called me back so I figured they didn’t want my business. When I took her samples back, she wouldn’t even allow me to come into the store because I was going to talk to her manager and she knew it. I also never called them back.

Empire's installation guys were excellent too. It's a good carpet and flooring but one of the trims around the staircase and the railing is not going to work. It has a quarter of an inch sticking up where I can see under it all the way around. There's got to be another way they can do that where it meets plush with the rest of the wood if they had to connect that hardwood shape. That’s something I've been meaning to address but I have had so many problems moving. We had to move in a hurry and I haven’t had the time to put down and call Empire for that.

But it’s very minor and it's not anything that they can't handle because I've seen it on other stairwells and I understand the problem they had. They didn't have the right type of wood to do what they needed to do, like a threshold we’d see, and they had so many places to go and work to do. So, I'll have to have that redone and I know they’ll make it right. They're a good company and they're in the business for a long time. The overall job was excellent, I was pleased with everything, and the guys they sent out did great. I would highly recommend Empire and I would do a commercial for them.

I ended spending almost $700 to hire somebody and install the bathroom back. I like the durability of the material but it has underperformed my expectations.

Also, I called customer service several times to have somebody to repair a piece of wood that was coming out from the installation. And they couldn't have the technicians to come to work. I had to take time off work to be able to meet with them. But in the end, they never came. The third time, they swapped and that did the work. But that wasn’t a good experience at all. I wouldn't recommend because I don’t like the way the customer service handled the situation when I asked them to come and fix it. I’m not happy.

Empire Today was very similar to other brands in terms of cost and quality but they was running some specials at the store and we chose them for the prices that they had. However, the timing of the floor job was not scheduled correctly. They basically had my whole house to do and they came out about 3 o’clock in the afternoon. They were here ‘til about 11 o’clock at night, then they had to come back the next morning and finish up. That was poor planning and I felt bad for them because they’ve been working a long day.

Also, I’m still waiting for someone to come out and trim around my den. They didn’t do that as well as they should have and the person who had installed my window trim was the same one who installed my carpet and I told him about it. I was going to put in a request but I have never actually called Empire about it. But if I still don't hear anything, I probably will soon. Other than that, it looks good. I note they do window treatments such as blinds and called in for an appointment as I wanted wide wooden blinds installed. This was clearly communicated. I setup the appointment for Friday, July 21st with a window of 7 pm - 9 pm because this was acceptable and worked for me. On Thursday prior the appointment, I received a call asking if I could change the time. I couldn't due to my work schedule and was told my appointment was still confirmed as scheduled.

At 6 pm on Friday, the day of my appointment I received a call from the sales person that would be coming who asked, "What was I looking to purchase and informed me that he had absolutely no experience with blinds but was willing to come anyway". Excuse me! Me the customer is considering spending a substantial amount of money with your organization and you're sending me someone who will be learning their job, at my expense? How appalling and unprofessional is that? This is the regard you have for your customers? I respectfully declined and refuse to do business with Empire ever again in life.

To add further insult to injury, I receive a card today thanking me for meeting with the sales rep! I'd washed my hands to never think of it again until this card was received. So was it a ghost I met with? I can't help but realize this all happened because the original sales rep had something else to do on Friday evening so they pushed me off on just anyone who would say, "I will" regardless to them knowing what they were doing or not. I will be sharing this with everyone I know.

I wasn't sure what I wanted and I just didn't feel like I wanted a carpet again so I went to Empire Today. I got them to install laminated flooring and had the whole room cleared so that the installers didn't have to do anything but pull the carpet, do a little sanding, and lay down the floor. I've talked to other people that had floors put in by contractors and it took up to three days but these installers Empire sent were in and out. It took them about seven hours to complete the work and they were great. It was quick service and I would recommend them if somebody was interested.

I had new flooring put in by Empire Today in my kitchen, laundry room, and one bathroom. I considered Sears but it was so expensive. It was going to cost me $8,000 and Empire was only at $2,500. I like my new flooring's color, design, and shape. I had an issue with them when they couldn't do one of my bathrooms. I live in a manufactured mobile home. But one of the master bedrooms has a crack in it and they wouldn't fix it. That was the only thing that I was disappointed in because the salesperson said they could fix it and when the floor people came out, they couldn't. He just said that later on, it would crack, and I would be wasting my money for doing it. Overall, I would recommend them.

On Weds., 7/26/17, installers arrived at our home to install vinyl flooring. We had contracted for the living room / dining room area and upstair hallway to have the vinyl flooring. During the pre-work walk-through my husband was told the work order did not have the dining room and that he did not have enough product. I showed him our contract. The installers began their work and worked all day and left the job unfinished due to lack of product. The installer told my husband he would be back first thing in the morning to finish before he went to his other job. I called Customer Service numerous times which was useless. All they did was to call the installation dept. and leave a voicemail to have someone contact me. I never received a call back on 7/26.

On the morning of 7/27 at 7:26 AM I received a call from a representative telling me the installer was having van problems and may or may not be able to finish the job that day and if the installer couldn't, he would be here first thing Friday, 7/28. He told me he would update me later in the day. I never received a phone call. Late in the afternoon I tried calling the reps number. It just rang and rang. A voice mail was not set up for that number to leave a message. So I called customer service again and received the same response as the day before. I have no idea whether the installer will be back on 7/28 to finish. On 7/27 we scheduled to have carpeting installed on our stairs and that went flawlessly.

The stairs look beautiful. I wish my living/dining area did. Photos of the unfinished work is attached. Lack of communication and not getting a resolution is why I am writing this review. Perhaps now I will receive a response and the job will be finished. Please note: I do not fault the installers. They worked very hard with what they had.

There have been two postponements of my installation already this week. I had been scheduled for TILE on Wednesday, July 26 and carpet July 28. I was informed yesterday Wednesday (7/26) that they would install TILE today. Since no one had called today, I was just told they'd be here tomorrow... on what is supposed to be carpet day, both of these postponements (of the TILE) have been found out only after I INITIATED THE CALL to EMPIRE Carpet, to inquire about time of ARRIVAL. Since an adult, 18 or older, is required to be in the home, I TOOK TIME OFF only to find out, AND AFTER I HAD TO CALL THEM, that it was postponed. No one at Empire Carpet, thought of calling ME to let me know the plan. It would have been much appreciated!

As of my call (to Empire Carpet) this morning, because, AGAIN, no one had initiated a call TO ME, they are supposedly NOW going to accomplish both tile and carpet ON THE SAME DAY, tomorrow, FRIDAY, July 28th. I will be back to give an update. POST NOTE: The root of the problem in my opinion is the SALES TEAM (person that came to my house a month ago and made the sale) is not very informed as to how the INSTALLATION TEAM works, hence, the SALES lady scheduled my tile on Wednesday (7/26) and my carpet on Friday (7/28), whereas INSTALLATION is now saying that they will come and do it all on the same day... tomorrow, (7/28). That would have been good to know and hopefully something that can be fixed by this company. I am actually very, very surprised about this whole thing, to be honest.

After a laminate floor installation we noticed the floor next to the basement brick chimney seemed to be noisier and creaked when walked on. We put this down to things needed to settle. Several days passed and the creaking was still very noticeably there, two weeks later it had become more of a ‘bounce’ and had bubbled up. Also, the NEXT DAY after installation in the laundry room, we noticed a slight incline we again thought this was due to settling. As none of these issues, the bubbling up or the incline had settled, we called you to get someone to look into this and were informed that it would be two weeks before someone could come out.

Two weeks later no show! We called late in the afternoon, after 5pm EST, and asked if anyone could come out tonight. Later that evening, a four man installation team, who were working in the area, came around to look into our complaint. They said, and I quote, “The laminate was installed too tightly against the brick wall”. Hence the bouncing effects. In the laundry room they found moisture under the recently installed laminate. They asked us if the washing machine had leaks? Our response was, “No”. In fact the following day just to make sure, we ran four (4) loads of laundry to test this out; and there were no leaks or water on the floor, nor have there ever been any leaks. If moisture was present on the floor, why wasn't there a moisture reading taken before installation as the basement level is about 5 1/2 feet below ground level?

When we obtained a quote to install the laminate flooring in the basement and laundry room we specifically asked if it was okay to install the laminate flooring on top of the linoleum in the laundry room. We were informed, and it's in the quote, that could be done with no issues. The four man crew who did the inspection informed us that, they would have to take out all the new laminate and the old linoleum as laminate shouldn't have been installed over the linoleum. They said they would be back on Thursday to fix these issues.

Thursday came and went with no phone calls or communication. By Friday morning I phoned, and was told someone would phone me later that day. Again no one called back. On Monday morning I phoned again and was told someone would phone me back. In the afternoon I had to phone again, and later on I eventually spoke to a manager. She informed me that the inspection results were, that our washing machine had leaked which caused the incline and bubbling. This was completely different from what the inspection team told us when they were here. I tried to tell her this, and was completely dismissed and was simply told "accidents happen". In other words, without actually saying it, she was insinuating that I was lying about the washing machine. She said she would talk to the inspection team and phone back the next morning.

After waiting almost all day I phoned again at 3pm, I eventually spoke to the manager at 3:55pm. She told me they would have an independent inspection. This would take 2 to 3 business days for them to call me and maybe up to 2 weeks for an appointment. Our concern now is how INDEPENDENT will this inspection be?

IF, we had a leaking washing machine we most certainly would not have had the laminate flooring installed in the laundry room. So the ill-logical response we received from manager was, we had a leaking washing machine and any repairs we would have to pay for, including the reinstallation of the ‘bouncing’ floor which, this individual put down to the nonleaking washing machine. Did I mention the bouncing floor was some 20 feet away in another room and, figuratively speaking, uphill from the washer dryer station due to the incline which was created by the recent laminate floor installation?

After repeated telephone calls, extended waits, missed appointments, extremely poor, if almost nonexistent communication or follow up from your company, with delays of up to two weeks in getting any satisfactory response to resolve the issue we are still in a dispute. Think twice about using this company. Our experience has not been good at all and their delaying tactics in coming to a resolution is frustrating to say the least. They’re very happy to take your hard earned money but not very willing to fixing their mistakes. So off to the BBB.

We used them since the person we bought the house from also used them and we wanted to make sure the color matched. I went with what else is already in the basement. Overall, they have met my expectations although I definitely noticed there are a few spots throughout the living area where the pad must have been bodied up against. When I’m walking across, I can feel that there’s a disparity in some sections of the room. But from the process of selling to the installation, it was pretty seamless so that was fine. I’d recommend them. My experience was quick, easy and hassle-free.

They gave me the best price and I love the carpeting they installed in my master bedroom. It wasn't synthetic. Also, the gentleman that came to put it in did an absolutely great job. They were very helpful. When I wasn't sure if the carpet out on the truck was the same color I ordered because it was different in the sun, he assured me that once it was put in, it was the same color which it was. Empire Today installed some wood flooring and carpets in my home. I thought about calling Lowe's, but when I had something installed by them in the past, I was totally misled on everything from how far out it would be to install it to when the inspector would come to do the final inspection. Also, my daughter did 50 Floor and it wasn’t a good experience. I'd rather pay more and have good customer service. Empire also had a better material and I liked the salesman a lot more. He delivered what he said he would.

The wood flooring went in the common areas, they are easy to keep clean and I really like the way they look. The carpets went in the bedrooms and they both have padding underneath. I'm not walking on a concrete slab so my legs feel better. The installation process went very smoothly. The guys who did the wood part of the floor came in first. They did a good job and there’s no goofing around. My kitchen cabinets are a dark wood so they asked me about putting the quarter round that was more of a wood look instead of the white like they did on all the edges. They didn’t have to ask me that and they could have just left it there. They were very nice, very polite and when they were done, everything was clean.

But I had a problem when I had to call Empire’s customer service. We went back and forth trying to get the vinyl installed. They would call me and tell me that I had an appointment for a day and that they’re confirming it. But I didn’t have an appointment and nobody called to ask for one. I told them they were not calling to confirm an appointment but to make one and that I wasn’t available on the day they said the installers would be here. It would be great if I could talk to the installers and not talk to the customer service people but I had to. They also got kind of irritated with me because it happened three times that I had to change the schedule. The last time it had to be changed, I had it scheduled for July 7th and they called and cancelled it because they didn’t have enough installers which was not a big deal. Now it’s going to be installed on August 15th. I'm going away and that’s the only time I could do it.

I also had to talk to a specialist who wanted me to put more of the deposit on my flooring because it had to sit in a warehouse. It was like going to the principal’s office and I refused to pay. I’ve already paid almost $10,000 and I'm not running out on $500 worth of linoleum or vinyl. All in all, I love my floors and my experience with Empire has been fantastic from sales to installation. The salesman and installers were also perfect but the customer service reps on the phone were awful.

I had Empire Today do the carpeting on the whole area of the lower level of our home. My daughter had used Empire Today and her dad and I decided it was time to redo the downstairs. She suggested that I call Empire Today and that’s exactly what I did. She recommended it and I let them know ahead of time and they sent her $100 for referring us. We installed a beautiful gray carpet with mingles. We got the very good pad that goes under it and I can tell that that’s made a big difference.

When the lady called to confirm that the installers would be out to my home the next day, she talked about them picking up the carpeting from the warehouse early in the morning. We waited for the installers all morning and I just wish she had told me the time they would arrive because every second we were looking for them. They didn’t get here until two o’clock in the afternoon and this was a pretty big job.

They had three very nice young men who did the installation and they did a beautiful job. I complimented them. I have answered phone calls about them and I would recommend them to anybody. They did a great job, very respectful in my home. I and my husband liked them and were very satisfied with their work. But they didn’t get done until eight o’clock that night and I know they were exhausted because I was. It wasn’t the installers fault. They had a job to do first and then they came here. I was just a little surprised about that mix-up, especially when I had been called the night before. I just listened to what she had to say but I should’ve asked what time can I expect them to come. I wouldn’t hold that against them. But if I ever need carpeting again, I’ll sure ask more questions.

I was very satisfied and I thought they did a remarkable job. They had to move so much furniture and I still don’t know how they did it, but God love them, they did. I have no complaints whatsoever about the installation. If Empire Today can keep those three young men and pay them well.

When they arrived, the installer mentioned I should check the carpet prior to install. The carpet they brought was completely different than what I had been shown. The color was different and the quality was completely non-existent. The installer commented that this was not their normal quality and he had no idea what they had sent. I turned them away, called my salesman Bryan, and scheduled for him to come work with me to resolve it. The day and time he scheduled, came and went with no call or visit. This flooring job has been a 2 week train wreck! First of all we have been remodeling our house before we moved in. Scheduled floor install for the Wednesday before move in on Saturday. We had not painted before move in and trim was not on. My husband was going to do that after move in because we ran out of time. But I refused to move in with concrete floors.

The first crew came on the morning of original install. They refused to do it since we still needed to paint. I think that should be our choice. People repaint all the time with existing floors. So how is that their choice? Pretty sure those guys were just wanting the day off. Empire said they couldn't come back for a full week. Doesn't this company promise next day installs? When our sales guy heard about this he fought for an earlier date for us and had it scheduled for 2 days later. We still had movers scheduled because we had to be out of our other house.

Second crew comes. They were very accommodating and professional. They understood exactly what to do. They installed our floors but couldn't do the stairs due to a mix up on material order. New material was discussed and on back order. They said it should take 3 days to get material in. Well that was 8 days ago. I'm sitting here waiting for installer to get here. He won't be here until 4:00. I took yesterday and today off work for this and they schedule us as the last job. I have sat on hold with their huge call center for hours during this whole process. In those 8 days we had to keep calling them back. My dog fell off the stairs because there isn't a banister while we wait for the wood to be installed. My daughter scraped her foot on an exposed nail on the stairs. And we have called several times to complain with the call center promising they would have someone call to resolve our issues.

My advice to people looking for flooring companies... Go local. Empire is so big most of the time you aren't even talking to someone in your same state. The call center people are just working a job. They don't care. One call center worker even hung up on me. So the catchy little commercial 800-588-2300 Empiiiire Today is going to be an ongoing joke in our house. This company has made the whole process of getting floors stressful. And it was a lot of money to spend to be this stressed!!! I would not recommend Empire Today.

I contacted Empire who took 4 weeks to come out to my home to inspect the floor. The installer stated, "Oh it's cold outside and your floor contracts during the winter months and it should close once the humidity increases." Well 3 months later floor gaps still not closed. Contacted Empire again. Called every other day for 6 weeks with no response or return call. It was not until I contacted the finance company to dispute the charge that I heard from someone in enhanced resolution department. They scheduled an independent contractor to come out and it was determined that my house was too dry for a hardwood floor. Now this is a $6000 floor. Nowhere in the contract was I advised that not all homes can accommodate a natural hard wood floor.

I was advised that due to this being a house issue and not a product issue Empire would be so gracious and give me a discount on a cheaper material floor however I would still be responsible for the $6000 floor I would have to have ripped up to have the new floor installed. It was just one type of padding and apparently, that's all they had because it wasn't even discussed and I didn't realize it until afterwards. If I have to do it all over, I would still pick Empire but I would have gotten a thicker pad.

My wife, Debbie had used Empire Today before and was very happy in her home. This time, we purchased engineered hardwood flooring with the best coating that Empire Today had. Then we had it installed in the entire first floor of a condominium. The cost was a little bit disappointing because when they came in, they increased the cost by some $400 from the quote for a special tool that they said they used which we never saw.

My favorite feature is the color. In some ways, the flooring met my expectations, but in a lot of ways, no. There was no follow-up with the sales rep and/or with the installers as to how to take care of the floor. I had a urine stain from a pet and no one could tell me how to take care of it. I went to their website and I contacted Empire but it said their voice mailbox was full. I couldn’t get through to the Chicago end distribution center or to the customer care center. I had to work around it to get to the manufacturer eventually and spoke to the distributor in Atlanta, Georgia.

Plus, when I called my sales rep, he didn’t take the call. Instead, he texted me to say he was on vacation and to continue to call the customer care center like he didn’t care. I was extremely disappointed in David. He's someone who Debbie had used and he’s been a salesperson with Empire Today for some 30 years. He knew I had a problem but he didn't even ask if the problem was taken care of when he got back from vacation. We had high expectations for Empire Today but there was very little follow through on their part to make the customer happy.

A repair of the strips was performed with no improvement. The installer said that he couldn't do any better because of the quality of the material that Empire Today provided him with. We would like this problem resolved, if necessary, using better material.

She did, but they did not answer, so she said she left a message and that was all the help I received. If they were running late, a call would have been fine, but I wasted a day of babysitters, my husband taking off work, and now a no call no show. On Thursday eve at 7:30pm AnnaLisa a sales rep came to our home for a free estimate. She was not friendly, personable, nor knowledgeable with the product. All she wanted to know was when we were going to have the money so she could lock in the deal right away. We explained we were waiting for a check, which we did not know when it would arrive. I thought that was invading our privacy and all we wanted was a quote so we would be ready. Not to mention, we are getting our entire home and kitchen redone. The first quote was very high, then she contacted her manager, quote came down only for today, only if we gave a deposit right now. If we waited until September then the price would double. Yes, double! I expressed my opinion that I thought this was not ethical to raise the price from $3,000 to $6,000 in a matter of days. The only way was to give her a deposit. I explained we are just getting quotes right now so we can decide.

We had to ask her to show us samples, which she begrudgingly got from her car. She was not explaining them too precisely, seemed nervous and would not write the quote for me, I had to jot it down. Finally, when we’re totally turned off to Empire, she abruptly got up, did not thank us, or shake hands or anything, got up, walked out the door. My husband and I just stared and looked at each other. Why would I consider using a company that just wants to close a deal during the entire estimate process. We had the money, we’re ready to make the deal, but she did a poor job. Seemed like her first day on the job.

Empire came and installed my carpet. A few hours later I realized that there was an area of about 1 square foot that was discolored. I thought maybe it was a wet spot and I waited 2 days. It didn't go away and I called Empire and they gave me a day that they would come to repair it. They said between 8 and 6. I said "Wait a minute, you gave me a damaged carpet and now you want me to give up a whole day to wait for it to be repaired? The woman said she couldn't do anything. I tell her that's terrible customer service. Hesitantly she says that she will request a morning appointment.

The next morning I get an automated voice message saying that the installer will be there in the afternoon. By 5 pm no one had showed up, no phone call. They supposedly call the installer who says that they will be there before 6. At 6 no one has called and I call up and they give me a story about the installer, complications on the last job, blah blah blah. The next morning I called and spoke to someone who couldn't get in touch with the office or the installer. The customer service rep says to me that she will give me an appointment that Wednesday, July 26th. I told her that I am not available for the remainder of the summer during the week. She says they don't do repairs on Saturdays. She tries 2 more times to give me an appointment on Wednesday, July 26th, and 2 more times I say I am not available the rest of the summer during the week. The charge is now in dispute with American Express.

So here is a thing. This is my first time writing a review and I don't usually rate or write reviews because most times the experience and service is acceptable if not great so I don't really feel talking bad about anything. But here I go with my experience with Empire. Bad is an understatement. This was pathetic, disgusting and all the bad things I could say about them. And to my fault, I didn't check many similar experiences others have had regarding the same issue.

I had an installation appointment for the 20th. I didn't hear from them in the morning until 11 am. I called them at 11 am and I was told that the installer was trying to reach me and called me on my cell phone and it was not reachable so he left (absolute lie). I was on my phone looking at it since morning. There was no voicemail. There was no prior intimation (as they market of calling 2 hours in advance). None of that whatsoever. There was no email notification. The person could not find my place (well we live in the world of GPS. Their sales guy could find the place, everyone who knows how to use GPS can, but only the installer could not). So a bad bad experience.

Then I tell their customer service that I am a consultant and I took a day off from work losing x amount of money to be at home for the installation only to know that the person decided to not show up. Spoke with the floor manager. He apologized (wow!) and said he will escalate it and try to provide a compensation. I requested to have the carpet installation the same day but he told that there was no availability for next 2 weeks. (wow!). No availability! Well good luck to the people who are using them. I wish no one has such experience.

He said that he can set something up after 2 weeks (which was a no as I have family visiting my new place). I said I need to know about the compensation as well as the earliest date. He assured me at 1 pm that he will personally call me and update me on the status and... nothing happened that day except I was super pissed and dissatisfied. I contacted other companies for the installation and was ready to move on with them. But wait. They call me next morning stating that they can do it today. That is 21st. I was relieved to say the least and because of my pressing need to get the work done I was thankful for them to get this sorted and expedite it. Then unlike the first day I get an automated voice call stating my appointment for the day is confirmed and the person should be at my place at 9 am.

I was elated and was like wow. This is finally happening. Had the call, they were able to reach on my phone, it's a new day. Better day. So I took another half day off from work (the pressing need to get this done) until 1 pm. And that's where more fun starts. They call me at 9 to say the automated call was done in error and the installer cannot come before 1 pm. Well well... Do I need to say more? It's just been a traumatic experience, one to forget and something I will strongly recommend others to not go for. Personally it was nightmare and I hope none of you have to go through this.

The salesman came out the next day (Friday) and I told him I had to have the carpet in by the following Thursday at the latest. He called his boss and the boss guaranteed the carpet would be installed on Monday. I told him if they couldn't do it then, that I would look for another company, as the time limit was a deal breaker for me. They said no problem, they would be there on Monday. Monday came and they called that day and said the carpet, which was in stock, by the way, wasn't in.

They said they would come on Wednesday for sure. I said ok. Wednesday they called and said they couldn't make it but guaranteed that I would be the first install the next morning (Thursday). I got up early Thursday to be ready, after getting home at midnight after work, and they called and said they couldn't make it but could come Saturday. I told them that was unacceptable and they needed to have someone there Friday because the open house was Saturday and I needed the carpet in for that, as they had promised. They said that wasn't possible. I told them they had promised this carpet would be in for the open house and they just kept saying that wasn't possible.

So now I have an open house on Saturday with my old frayed carpet which will decrease the value of what I could have gotten for my home. I am beyond livid. This company is fraudulent and a total bait and switch company. They make guarantees and promises they don't keep and lie to you all the way along. I am VERY disappointed with this company. I decided to use this company even after reading all the bad reviews. I wanted to give them a chance with one of my rentals. From the very beginning it was horrible customer service starting with the sales rep not returning my calls. I wanted to open a line of credit with them, so that I could use them for other rental properties. I had to call customer service in order for them to do it because the sales rep wouldn't call me back.

When it was time for the installation I received a call the day before telling me that they had to move it to the next day because they couldn't find an installer. The problem with that is my tenant had taken a day off from work to be there and we had paid to have her things moved. We live in a different city and couldn't be there. Then turns out after telling us they were moving it to the next day that wasn't going to happen either. Finally on Monday they call and tell us that it would be installed that day. While I'm with my son at a doctor's appointment I get a call from my tenant telling me that the installer is asking for payment. Now, this was a credit where a payment is not due.

Empire had not attached this to the work order although this was confirmed with them a couple days before. While I'm on the phone with them trying to figure this out, she calls me back saying the installer is saying that he's not going to be able to install today due to them not cutting enough carpet to put down and he left. Are you kidding me? I have been calling them for days and have been told that I was going to be getting a call from the Atlanta office. No calls. So now my installation is suppose to be tomorrow according to an email. No calls. My tenant has taken off three days from work to have this done now. We have had pay money to move her things. This has been such a horrible experience and a embarrassing one for me. I am very disappointed. I had to give them one star in order to do this review, but really it's zero stars.

I've been a contractor for 35 years so I've dealt with flooring many times. And when I hired Empire Today, their service was satisfactory and as expected. I had linoleum installed in the kitchen and carpeting in the living room, three bedrooms, hallway, and stairwell of my home. I liked their cost which was less than the other companies and is very good value. My rep was very nice, very well-versed in her product and made everything easy. There was a little gameplay with the prices. She marked them way down for what was exceptional in the eye and made it look like a good deal. Then I told her I'd get back to her and a few days later, another rep from Empire's office called, told me how much they can really do it for, and that was the clincher.

The quality of the materials was adequate and the installation was professional. The installers did their job and were great. But it seemed like there was a little bit of a disconnect between the management and installers. It also seemed like there was no communication between Empire's sales and installation departments. We had a little bit of an issue when the installers took the carpet out of the van and it had holes in it. Apparently, a Ford truck had punctured it and went through about 10 layers of the roll. So the installers called their bosses. They came out to the house and looked it over. Somehow, the installers worked around all those punctures and I don't know where the holes went. I had the flooring done to resell the house so it's not a long-term concern to me, but that's the way things went.

The installers did a very good job, however, one of them (might have been more than one) got glue on his shoes when they glued something down during the installation. It got on the tile in the bathroom and also in several places on our hardwood floor in our dining room (the room they had to walk through to get in and out of the house). I had some "goo remover" and that worked to get it off, but it was a bit of a pain to remove. They should have been more careful.

We were having carpet installed in the living room and laminate flooring in the bedroom. We made an appointment with an Empire Today salesperson who was here. The installers were supposed to come on a Tuesday, within a certain time window. However, I've had problems with companies before who were supposed to come out and never showed up. So I called that morning to confirm the appointment and I got the impression that they didn't have a crew set up and that they had forgotten. It was 10:00 in the morning and we’ve taken all the furniture out and my puppy and I were going to be outside all day. The first person directed me to the installation team and then the second person went, "We'll get a crew out to you as soon as you can. They'll be coming in soon."

I felt like we got the B crew that wasn't prepared to come out. They were here at noon and by 2:00 they left for lunch. The guys needed a break but they came back an hour later. It was already 3:00 and they were supposed to be out of here at 6:30. It took them a lot longer that it needed to. They were here till almost 7:00 that night. At the end they were rushing to get things done. If they had not gone to lunch for an hour, it might have made things a little bit better. And that entire time I either had my dog in our closed sunroom with me or outside. Plus, when they put the laminate flooring in, they took the trim off. Then they asked me if I wanted the new smaller and thinner trim they were putting in or the older stuff. I wanted the older stuff put in but they couldn't put it in right. The floor was put in okay but the trim was so mismatched, my husband had to take it out and put it in himself.

They didn’t speak English very well either, although the supervisor could. So the crew didn’t talk a lot but when they did, they were courteous so that wasn't a problem. They also cleaned up for the most part afterwards. However, I was hoping we’d get the same guys who installed our laminate flooring before. A couple of years back, I had laminate flooring put in by Empire Today too and the guys were great. They were very accommodating, pleasant and hardworking. And that crew had worked straight. Overall, it's just the installers that I wasn't too pleased with. I like the products themselves and the carpet is nice and soft. The cost was a decent amount and the quality is comparable to other brands.

I love the product and the installation experience, but the accounting site is horrible. The sales representative included a tile repair in the floor installation and now the corporate office keeps calling me wanting me to pay for the repair. I paid almost $11,000 for the flooring and because of Empire not getting their back office straighten out, they keep calling me asking for $75. Get your act together and talk to each other. I have another house where I wanted to use Empire for floor installation, but I will go to someone else.

I was hesitant about paying upfront for the new flooring when the installers arrived. 3 installers arrived promptly and each person went to each individual room and began removing the carpet. Before I knew it they were installing the underlayment and the new hardwood floors. The floors are beautiful and I cannot say enough about the 3 installers. They were very professional and pleasant to work with. I would use Empire again and recommend them to all who ask. The salesman that came before the installation was very knowledgeable and delightful.

Everybody was courteous from the sales rep to the installers. The carpet was amazing when it was installed and felt great. The sales rep was informative and was polite the entire time. I would definitely buy here again when given the opportunity to do so.

Carpet was installed in the living room area and the stairway. The installers did not speak much English; however, they did an OUTSTANDING job!!! Would like to have had more communication going on, but what mattered most was that we were satisfied overall with the installation and including the promptness and the time that it took to complete the work. My husband wasn't sure if they installed new padding, but we were assured that they did. Thank you!

Carpet installation - The crew came as scheduled and were efficient. We were pleased with the work they did and the price was fair. They removed the old carpet as agreed and cleaned up all the debris. I would recommend Empire and use them again if needed.

We are very satisfied with our purchase and installation of our new carpet. Your sales rep was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful without making us feel like the first-time buyers we were. The delivery and install was excellent. The two men were very nice and got right to work. I don't think you can improve on our experience. Thank you.

I really enjoyed the consult and we had great people to install the carpet. They worked hard and quick and did a great job. The carpet was a good pricing, but I think that the quality of the carpet could be a little better, but still happy!

Ceramics, wood, and carpet flooring in residential church parsonage. The building is a donation to the JESUS IS LORD Baptist Church by a bank to help our ministry of the Gospel. The building has been named "Rebekah's Good News Center." The Church invited Empire Carpet to do the flooring because we needed flooring that will generate glory and honor to our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ. Empire Carpet did a good job. The cost was, however, high for us.

I can only say that I was highly pleased with the work done on the installation of my carpet. The worker did a great job installing it and worked very hard to complete the two rooms within the same day! The worker that installed my living room and hallway carpet was an exceptional worker as well. Empire does have hard workers working to install carpet!

Nice cleaners, great job. The window to wait is a bit long - we had to wait for more than three hours in a vacant house - but the workers are great. Other than the long window time for waiting we were very pleased. The gentlemen who came were very nice and very fast!

I was very happy with the salesman. He was prepared with samples, neat and very knowledgeable about his products. We set up date for carpet laying. Jose came, showed me the product, asked if it was what I ordered. He was very punctual. Did an excellent job. I thought someone would come with him to help move furniture but he did it all himself. I thought he did an excellent job and would request him the next time. Only thing I didn't like was when girl called to get my credit card number I said I wanted to set up another appointment to have the other two rooms done, one in carpeting, other in tile maybe in carpet. She said the salesman would call me which no one did so when I received another e-mail the other day I set up another appointment. Very happy with job and product at least so far.

On June 21, 2017 we had carpeting installed. A piece of wood molding between the kitchen and living room was broken in half as the old carpeting was pulled up. The installers' boss came out to check the damage and came back with a replacement piece that was the wrong size and color and said he would send out an Empire rep. After a week I called Empire and spoke to Selena. She said an Empire rep would be in touch. She asked for the size of the strip and color. No response. What is the status? Other than the broken molding strip, the work was satisfactory.
