I absolutely love my carpet installed by Empire Today on my steps. My niece called Empire out to do an estimate on my sister's old carpet. And I liked the knowledgeableness of the person who came out, and he worked and helped me get what I needed. They were also willing to install it when I needed it and when I had the money to do it. And so, all of those played a part in choosing Empire. And I am considering having the other parts of stairs done with the same carpet. It is durable and I like its color, and my sister even said that when they get to do her 400 and something square feet bedroom, she wants the same carpet because it was of good quality.
I love that the person who installed the carpet was very helpful. I had to leave and go somewhere when he came, and I told him to please look after my mom and lock the door when he leaves because my mom is 90-something years old. And he said it wasn't a problem and that he'd take care of her. He was happy to do it and it was impressive to me.

The salesperson was very pushy. I felt uncomfortable but the price seemed comparable other major retailers so I decided to go with them. I decided to do whole house which I am regretting now. Day of installation the installers came at 11:00. They quickly got to work. They were very fast in moving stuff. They were done by 6 PM. Pretty fast for 6 rooms and hallway. I don't mind whom is hired by the company but none of them spoke English. Hard to communicate. I was using Google translator to communicate.
But the problems started after that. Few days later I feel my carpet is starting to bubble in every room and I can hear the squeaky noise. As I did not have that noise before I called them again. Week later they came to inspect and tried to convince that it is floor. After explaining and letting them feel the bubbles around the house, they decided it was padding that is defective. They put me on a phone with a manager who promised me that I will get a call by EOD to schedule an appointment. I asked for the inconvenience and the answer I got from him - “Do you want us to fix and stay in squeaky floor”. I had no choice, there was not an apology or anything. We have to move things in my house again, take a day off as well. The manager did not seem to be considerate. He was arrogant.
After that, I never got a call to schedule an appointment. Two days later I called and the case was opened to contact me. Day later I got a call that they will come on Tuesday. Fast forward to Tuesday morning, we both took time off and I get a call, saying the installer called out sick and they cannot come. However, they will next day. I am hoping that they will come here tomorrow. While I understand that people get sick but this is not acceptable. There was no compensation for the inconvenience caused and the time I had to stay home and then not getting things done. When I mentioned I am told 150$ credit which is about 1% of my cost. I was told it is more than what they do normally. 50$ is for missing the installation and additional 100$ for the inconvenience caused to us.
Not to mention, but I took their BEST carpet (“30 year warranty”) for install in whole house. What I am talking is one month time frame. My sales person never called me back to see how the carpet installation went, any issues etc. No courtesy call from him. What I got was, mail with his business card for referrals. I am sure not to do that anytime. Worst customers service from EMPIRE and the sales person. I would not recommend them.

I had Empire Today install carpet in three bedrooms and a closet. The rest of the house is hard surfaced and we wanted to go with carpet mainly for expediency. I saw Empire’s ad about next day installation, and they were able to pull it off. We called on a Thursday, the rep came on Monday to do the measurement and selection of the product, and then they were able to install it on Tuesday. We ended up paying about 88 yards, and two installers got it done between 9 AM and 1 PM so we were happy with that. They did a great job, too. The quick turnaround and their stock of inventory certainly helped. We didn't order a special product, which also helped. We ran a tight time frame with a house move, finishing up painting, and furniture arriving, and a lot of factors in it, but we were able to get them all met. We were fully pleased and it was a good experience overall.

My daughter and son-in-law have had Empire Today do some work for them a year ago. I thought Empire did a good job, so that’s why I called them. The sales rep gave me all the information I needed. Empire installed wooden floors for me, and the guys who installed it were really good and professional. I would recommend friends to choose Empire Today because they did a good job.

Ordered carpet in advance. Paid $1600 and was called THE DAY OF INSTALLATION to be told that carpet was out of stock and not available. Their guarantee of getting carpet right away is a total lie. Even when given five extra days they couldn't come through with the product that was ordered. Horrible experience. Stay away!

I had Empire Today install carpet in my bedroom. I really liked the salesman who came. He was very professional, friendly, seemed to know his products, and wasn't pushy. I was going to go elsewhere but he convinced me to use Empire. Our flooring met my expectations and I like its quality and its price, too. The installer was very nice, but I gave him specific instructions and told him I have some things behind my cabinet that I need to pick up. The cabinet was too heavy for me so I told him to let me go behind it before they pull up the carpet. He said he'd let the guys know but then he left and didn't tell them. I was doing something else and when I came in, the whole carpet was pulled up. I kept trying to ask them but they didn't speak English and they didn't understand a word I was saying. I was very angry about because my little custom jewelry and other things that fell behind the cabinet were gone. Other than that, everything else was good.
Thank you for your feedback. We're disappointed to hear that your overall experience was not five star worthy. We'll be further reviewing your concerns, and we'll be in touch with you soon.

I had carpet installed by Empire Today in our home’s family room. They were quicker to install and they had a better price over other brands. We were looking at Home Depot, but Empire Today was definitely cheaper and I like how the carpet looks. The only thing we’re a little bummed out about is that the carpeting has a strange pattern to it. What we understood from the salesman was that they were supposed to install it vertically, the length of the room but they installed it horizontally and did one seam instead of doing three. It looks better in the end but we were under the impression that the striations would run the length of the room. Overall, we’re very pleased with everything.

My brother was very pleased with his experience with Empire Today. They worked on the two bedrooms. The flooring is easy to clean, but shiny, and very durable. The color is good as well. It was installed over a month ago and the installers were excellent. It looks very good and my brother wants to do his bedroom next. However, they couldn't do the hallway and steps because the floors were uneven. They were disappointed and told us the flooring would crack when we walk on it. It looks awful because we took the rugs up and horrible. I don't know what we're going to do with the floors. We may have to get somebody in to sand them down. For now, I'm going to put steel threads and a little throw rug up by the landing. They provide very good workmanship and service. I would recommend them to anybody.

At first I didn't know who to call for a carpet installation because everybody has good & bad experiences but I was more familiar with Empire Today since I've seen a lot of TV commercials so I gave it a try. I got an appt so I can get the room measured & see what carpet matches with the rest of the house. It was super easy plus discounts then I made another appt to get it installed. The day of installation the guys that came were very nice & did the job really fast. It was a very well done & clean installation. I would recommend & if in the future I need more carpet installations I know where to call without hesitation.

I had Empire Today install hardwood flooring in my living room and hallway, and I had a very good experience working with them. They compare very well compared to other brands. I even put a down payment on the first one I saw, but they never did install. The flooring I got is a dark wood and it made my living room look wider, and a thousand time better. Plus, the workers were fantastic. My daughters also love the flooring. When I get rid of the bedrooms, I will be calling them back. I recommend them.

Set up an appointment for quote, for 11/11 by online, didnt show up between 3-5pm, re-looked at email, was set for 18th, took as my fault. No one showed on 18th, called and they told me no one set the appointment. So waited 3 weeks for nothing. Reason for review is because they dont have any other way to voice my complete displeasure with them. Would give zero stars but not allowed.

When we began to remodel our Florida house we chose Empire based on your television commercials jingle stuck in our heads. We began with carpet in our two guest rooms and everything was exceptional from the subcontractor to the installation and professionalism, also we liked your sales representative. Then we heard your advertisement buy one get two rooms free for tile. So we called your sales representative again, only to discover it was a form of bait and switch as the promo was an extremely small selection choice that I can only assume wasn't selling. But decided to place an order anyway for a tile I liked for a total of $9,900.00 and according to your rep included tear out and haul away. (He even pulled up thresholds to confirm what the laminate was on top of, as we discussed on the phone as you were trying to upsell the service with your subcontractors here to verify that indeed the thresholds had been pulled up).
We pushed the tile installation back twice to make sure we could arrange our schedules so that one of us could be home everyday only to have your first crew of subcontractors sent out to proceed take over two hours to find our house. After multiple calls from him I decided to cancel and go to work. Then October 9th 2017. Your second crew of subcontractors arrived and they called your corporate office (which is when the previously mentioned upsell in price occurred, warning sign #2 that I again didn't listen to). But since we had already rearranged our schedules for this 2 weeks we proceeded despite your last minute add on/upsell charges. My schedule was cleared from October 9th thru the 19th and your subcontractors assured me they would be done, and be working weekends not to worry.
The first three days were great, I made sure they had breakfast and lunch. But then the no shows began, either the materials were not in or they ran out etc. We both know (growing up with my father being an architect and general contractor as well as being around subcontractors/local unions) I knew they were taking other jobs which I understand you need to do to grow your business but not at my expense or timeline.
Now as a flooring company you are obviously aware then when grouting floors it is necessary to remove the excess and residue as you go not days later or it becomes hard to impossible to get off. That is what happened multiple times in each section/room, they grouted then left sometimes not even returning the next day. I spent 16 hours one day, 8 hours a second day, and 7 hours a third day on my knees with a sponge and over a hundred buckets of water. I even brought it to their attention by text questioning it being left on the tiles before I began cleaning them and they responded back to wait another hour and then clean it.
My daily rate at work is $1,500.00 per 8 hour day, since the excess grout and residue remained on the floor too long and after equivalent to me cleaning for 4 days on my knees (which I thought your company was being paid to do) I had to have two guys referred to me from a Home Depot employee come and do some high acid ph cleaning at the cost of $1,700.00. That is a total of $7,700.00 not to mention that I paid my cleaning people twice at $80.00 per time even though they couldn't come to clean as they still were not done due to not coming everyday till the job was completed and it not being fair to them not earning what they count on weekly for their livelihood.
There are also tons of sections that didn't get grouted fully, but they did leave me a bag of grout to finish myself. There are no thresholds from the tile you installed to the carpet you installed. I paid $900.00 down and extra $700.00 (your upsell charge for tear out which once again I was told was included in my original quote). That is $1,600.00 total paid and a remaining balance of $9,000.00.
So by my calculations $7,860.00 is my extra costs/loses for having to do the work myself or pay outside sources to complete the job you were being paid for not to mention the vacation we had scheduled for October 30th thru November 4th which had nonrefundable deposits. Leaving a balance of $1,140.00. I am willing to do a one time offer of paying a remaining balance of $4,000.00 of the $9,000.00 left with the $1,600.00 already paid for a total of $5,600.00 which I am certain covers the cost of the materials and most of your labor.
If not I intend to contest the charges, open an escrow account to make payments too then file with the courts at which point I can guarantee I will owe nothing more based on the texts, and pics I have as well as you being responsible for all court costs. Not to mention telling my story to the 60,000 hairdressers that follow me from New York City to San Diego that I have trained and like me as well as them telling their own 8 to ten clients each per day of my unacceptable experience.
Addendum: today is November 14th, I have spent the last 3 days trying to get ahold of someone with authority. To no avail every day I explained the situation and someone was to call me back which never occurred. At this point I declare I owe nothing more from this point going forward. I assume you have all my calls from the last 3 days recorded as do I with my attorney on the line.
We're disappointed to hear that this was your experience, and assure your concerns are important to us. We'll be in touch with you shortly to learn more.

I purchased carpeting from Empire Today before and I’ve been really happy with it. I've had that carpet for quite a while and that's what they ripped out and replaced with another. The carpet's in living room, the hallway and one of the bedrooms. Their service has always been very friendly and very good. They came to the house which made it easier for me since I have a bad leg. Then during the installation, they took my old couch and loveseat outside for me and put it on the curb. They also wanted me to go out to the truck and look at the carpeting to make sure it was the right one and since I had a bad leg, they helped me out to the truck so I could look at it. They were very helpful and I was happy with their service service again. It was a very good experience.

I called to cancel my contract with Empire Today since I decided to go to another flooring company. But Empire Today gave me such a good rate so I ended up staying with them. They installed hardwood floors in the family room, hallways, dining room and kitchen. They also put in a carpet on the steps, and tiles in the laundry room and at the base of the steps. I love all the products they installed for me.
The installers were very respectful and cleaned up after themselves. And when I found something that was wrong, they took care of it right away. The installation was delayed since the products were not available when they were supposed to be available but they gave me a credit for my frustration in dealing with that. Then, when they laid the tile, their people couldn’t do the trim so somebody else had to come back and do it. But they worked it all out. They were also trying to get everything done in one day so they worked a long day and into the evening a bit. That was a little odd and I understand what they were trying to do but they still ended up having to come back the next day.
I also had them call back since the carpet was not finished at the very top step. If I stood at the top and suddenly looked down, it looked perfect. But if I went down to the basement and I was coming up, I could see that the very top of the step where the carpet met the wood wasn’t smooth. It was raggedy and wasn’t professional looking. So they came back and fixed that, too.
It has been a great experience and I can’t wait until I pay these off so I can have some carpet done in my office and in my bedroom. They have good quality products and their customer service reps and installers were awesome. Also, since this was my first time using them and I was going to be spending a lot of money, one of the things that made a difference was that Empire Today is a part of the Better Business Bureau. I felt that because of that, they cared about my customer satisfaction and if there was something I didn’t like they would fix it, and that worked out for me.

The salesman was green and had an older man in the car he would refer to when we asked something he could not answer. Despite not getting the 50% off sale prices advertised, we were in a bind on our new home. Being gouged was our decision. We had just purchased the house, the carpet was unlivable, and we both us and the salesman knew we were going to do it. The following a day a 4 man crew arrived. Their leader could not speak English, but one of the younger guys on his crew knew some English and we worked through the problems.
The first problem was the house had MDF under the carpet. They informed us the salesman was supposed to check this as we purchased over $4,000 worth of hardwood, and hardwood cannot be laid on MDF. He called the office in Gastonia, and gave them the dimensions of the one room we were having done. He put me on the phone with a nice sounding young lady who said there would be an upcharge of $750. As I mentioned before we had no real choice as we just bought the home and our other previous home had already closed. I agreed and she asked me to return the phone to the installer. The installer answered some more questions and then asked for my credit card. To which he started calling off the numbers to whoever was on the other end of the line.
At this point the locksmith who was also there needed my attention about 20' away. I stepped over to him for about 2 minutes, and when I returned opening the nearly shut door to the room they were in, I could hear the installer reading my card a second time. I didn't think much of it at the time. The installers laughed at how much at I paid for one room of that size, and offered their services at a much lower rate with business cards at the ready. Later they informed me that the home office had sent the wrong thresholds and they had made them work, but were not correct and my doors would hang. Then he lied and told me they would come back and correct it in a couple of days. They gave me the paperwork, where I erred again, and I even wrote them a compliment as they did work expediently, and removed the carpet from my upstairs for a small fee.
Despite the hang ups along the way were very cordial. I recognized many Spanish swears, but I didn't realize until later after asking a Spanish speaking friend that the insults and phrases were racist remarks directed at me. I later reviewed the paperwork and realized by signing, I have agreed to everything being perfect, and even gave them a nice write up. I signed a release from a guy who couldn't read it himself. I was an idiot and way too trusting, but I thought I was dealing with a big reputable outfit, not shady contractors, and my guard was down.
We awoke the next morning to a massive amount of calls from Visa asking us about the 20k in purchases attempted on our card last night. The purchases started around 10 pm and ran through 2 am. Good catch Visa, normally we don't buy 4k worth of liquor on a Wednesday night. The Empire purchase was in my wife's name, our saving grace, as that limited the use they could get out of us.
After a little research I was able to determine what info of mine they found online to complete their fraudulent spree, and how to circumvent it. Further I found that all the packages were destined for ** of 714 Raintree Ct. Conway SC. I want to say I heard them calling the youngest one of their crew **, but they talked fast and low when I was around.
I contacted the authorities, laid it all out to the Police and Visa, Visa said in the end they only got about $800.00 in merchandise before they caught the card, and that wasn't enough to pursue. The police said I wasn't the victim, Visa is, and I could not pursue without first getting approval from Visa. Now are trapped in a new home, nearly wiping out our on hand money for a down payment and flooring, and now skimming savings for cash until the new cards arrived. They received no punishment whatsoever for their crime.
I then pursued hiring these guys through the business card they had left. I asked him about doing my entire upstairs including the stairway. I let them quote the job via text messaging. Since they had removed the carpet while contracted by Empire they already had the measurements. The quote was for 12k installed. Very impressive, Empire wanted 18k for the upstairs without doing the stairs. I debated paying in cash and calling over everyone I know to watch them with me since now the house was now full of our things. Still grateful our belongings had not arrived when they were there. I told them I was very interested and would get back to them. They pursued me a few days, and then I name dropped ** just to see what would happened. I have not heard back since.
Empire sends whoever shows up at the lot looking for work. From what these installers stated, there are plenty of guys with vans showing up to get a job from Empire, and the only requirement is a vehicle capable of transporting the products. Empire has no idea who is arriving at your home. Looking back I am grateful it was just liars and thieves. It is a matter of time before they get someone hurt.
We understand your frustration and sincerely apologize for your experience. We'll be further investigating your concerns, and we'll be in touch with you shortly.
Thank you.

Bottom-line after we saw the Blinds Empire had to offer we were informed by the rep. that if we have a better deal in writing that Empire would price match the deal. Seeing how we (my wife and I) had already applied for their credit card to do business through their company we revealed that we had in fact been offered a better deal for Blinds installed by another company and presented a copy of our quote as requested to the rep. Ms. **. She told us it would be presented to her manager for approval.
Next day the rep. contacts us to let us know that her manager said, they would not price match because their company has better quality stuff than the company we had a quote from - No deal. Well... to our surprise we could plainly see that we had been lied to and scammed out of our time, our efforts and our credit check approval thru Empire credit. Why you ask?? Unbelievably as one can clearly see it had went from price match to price compare. We told them that's not fair, we sited foul play on their part. That clearly was not the deal we were offered. We were told they would price MATCH not price COMPARE! Now our credit check & time has been wasted because we can't do business with them. Very Shady indeed.

We booked a time to have carpet installed last week. This was prior to my 1st holiday party at the house. Empire booked the date and time. Called and confirmed. The installers called the morning of and arrived at my house on time. The installers re-measured the areas and determined that Empire cut the carpet short and we could not even piece the carpet in the closet area because one of the rolls had a "run" in the backside. THEY COULD NOT INSTALL THAT DAY! It was the company mistake - NOT mine! During my 1st holiday party I had to completely shut off a room that had all the clothes from the closet and all bedroom accessories.
My house has been upside down for 5 days now! The customer service representative was unsympathetic! "Tanya" claims that pursuant to their contract they have 3 days to complete installation. (NOWHERE in my contract is that stated!) (I have read it!!) H-E-L-L-O... It has been 5 days due to EMPIRE'S improper cutting of the carpet. They refuse to compensate me at all for my inconvenience. I call and leave messages and NO ONE returns my calls. I have to keep calling until I can reach someone. This is unacceptable! I need a MANAGER TO CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY!!!

I have two friends who also had used Empire. And so, when I ended up having Empire come out and they showed me what was perfect for what I wanted, I figured I wasn't going to go for another possibility from someplace else. Everybody I associated with at Empire was very accommodating. I like the two guys who put the hardwood floors in my bedrooms, hallway and living room. The salesperson, Jim, was very knowledgeable, too. So far, I like the hardwood floors' marble coloring, and they have met my expectations 100 percent. I like Empire really well.

On October 16, 2017, we ordered carpet and installation from Empire for our upstairs (5 bedrooms and hallway), and the installation was scheduled for two days. Installation included moving furniture, and we were told that if any problems/damage in the subfloor were found, repairs would be an additional expense if we chose to have the company make the repairs. We also stipulated that we wanted to screw down any squeaking boards during installation. On November 13, 2017, a 2-man installation crew came on day 1 and started in the master bedroom first. (I will refer to members of the two-man crew as the installer Jose and the helper.)
We previously removed carpet from our stairs, and opted not to replace that carpet, planning instead to refinish the hardwood stairs ourselves at a later date. This was determined before placing the order. When the crew came, we asked about how they normally finish the carpet above the stairs. There was a language barrier, as neither the installer Jose nor his helper spoke much English, but the installer Jose indicated that he had a metal transition he could put at the top of the stairs. This did not seem safe or aesthetically pleasing, so we showed him how we would like it finished and asked if it was possible. He viewed the video and saw the schematic, conferred with his helper, and said it would be no problem.
The crew started installation in the master bedroom. We immediately found an area where the subfloor was damaged, and needed to be replaced. The installer Jose indicated that it was not a problem, and that once the carpet was installed, it would be fine. We bounced on the floor, showing the sponginess, and we insisted on replacing it. He did not agree with us, and commented on not knowing how long a repair would take. It did not appear the installer Jose was interested in doing the repair, and wanted to press on, but we insisted on the repair, and suggested he start in any of the other rooms and we would do the repair ourselves. Again, the language barrier was a problem. Unfortunately, due to not having the option of having the crew do the repair for an extra charge as explained when signing the contract, we were tied up with the repair, and unable to screw down any squeaking boards during installation.
In the late afternoon, we noticed that they had not installed the edge of the carpet at the top of the wood stairs as we had discussed and viewed upon their arrival, but instead had simply affixed it to the top half of the riser, and not even with a straight line. Installer Jose began to say that it wasn’t possible, but we showed him the drawing again, and he indicated that he understood and would fix it.
The crew was still working at dinnertime, and at 6:40 PM we asked how long they were going to be. The installer Jose said that they would be one hour longer and they would be completely done. Shortly thereafter the crew discovered that they did not have enough carpet and would be unable to complete three closets. Though we have two school-aged children (it was a school night), the crew did not leave until just after 10:30 PM, saying they would return at 8:30 AM the following morning. We pointed out the problem on the stairs again, and installer Jose said he would get the piece and fix it tomorrow when they return. The installer Jose asked us to contact Empire about not having enough carpet, then subsequently indicated that he would contact them and we didn't need to. Again, this was confusing and there was a language barrier.
That night my husband and I slept on couches because our bed was still disassembled. Though the crew said they would return at 8:30 AM on day 2, they didn't arrive until 11:30 AM. While waiting for them that morning, we contacted Empire, and were informed that we were the 2nd stop on the crew's schedule. The same crew arrived and continued to work on the installation.
On day 1 we were available and willing to assist the crew with moving heavy furniture. (We moved all the smaller non-furniture items ourselves.) They accepted this assistance. Noteworthy is that on day 1, when a room was completed, the installer Jose came downstairs to look for us and asked for assistance moving things back into the completed room.
As the crew was finishing up on day 2, we pointed out that some of the large pieces of furniture still needed to be placed back into the rooms where they came from, and the stairs weren't finished as agreed. The installer Jose asked where his paperwork was. We gave it to him, unsigned. He proceeded to look over the paperwork as we went about our day. It was about 10 minutes before we realized that the crew had left without saying a word. (The crew went in and out the door throughout the installation to get things from their van, remove old carpet, etc.) As soon as we discovered the crew had left, we contacted Empire.
They immediately got in touch with the crew, and informed us that the crew would be returning. Though they had only been gone 15 minutes at this point, no one could tell us when they would return. We insisted that this problem needed to be taken care of today. Empire customer service said that they had up to three days to complete an installation. When calling the salesman, he indicated that he was very sorry, but was unable to do anything other than say he was very sorry. We made several phone calls and had to work with determination to attempt to get these immediate problems fixed. Customer service was not helpful and displayed a lack of concern and unwillingness to make things right.
After several hours, a three-man team who appeared to be the supervisors of the original installation crew came to the house. It appeared the man in charge was named Ricardo. The team was in touch with the installation crew. They relayed to us that the installer Jose claimed that moving furniture was not on their ticket. Apparently, a new ticket was written for the 2nd day of the installation, and whoever wrote it did not stipulate moving the furniture as per the agreement.
However, they did not replace all the furniture on day 1. It was agreed that moving the furniture was included in the installation, and based on pictures the crew had taken on day 1, it was apparent the furniture was not where it belonged. Next, the supervisors indicated that the installer Jose claimed that we wanted them to move furniture they had not moved in the first place. Though installer Jose had accepted our assistance moving furniture on day 1, we did not move it on our own. The supervisors were able to look at pictures and see that the furniture was not where it came from.
The supervising team indicated that the finish of the carpet at the top of the stairs will have to be done after the hardwood is refinished, and did not correct the work. After they left, we had more time to check over the workmanship, and question many corners in closets. There appear to be gaps and holes, of great concern particularly in corners. It seems that the carpet was cut too short in these closets, reaching barely to the wall, without any tucking. There is a questionable seam between one bedroom and the hallway.
Also, one large piece of furniture has been damaged, and we can see where the furniture scraped across a door. It appears the paint from the door trim that was on the furniture was rubbed off, but some remains, where some finish from the furniture has been removed. After spending hours trying just to get the installers to come back to move furniture, we do not know how to get these other problems fixed. We have company coming next week as well.
We're disappointed to hear that you're not satisfied with your installation. We'll be in touch with you shortly to discuss your concerns.
Thank you for your patience.

We wanted some tiles installed in our spare room and wanted it done as soon as possible. We were able to get it in a timely manner with Empire. We liked that the tiles we got matched with the room, and the tiles came out beautifully. As for the installers, they were fine and they cleaned up. However, they didn’t look as professional as they do on television. I have the perception of a person coming in with uniform that’s skilled to do the work. Also, the installer did not speak any English. Other than that, we're happy with the service.

I bought some carpet from Empire Today for my living room and dining room. I checked around with other companies and I went back to Empire Today. The carpet that they took out was also purchased from them. And the nice thing was the person that came to my house and sold me the carpet was the same person that sold me the carpet that I was getting rid of. The carpet I had was really bad. I had it for about four years and it puckered up. But the carpet I have now is great and I’m very happy with that. It’s a nice indoor carpet and I love the pretty color. It really looks fine. I got a better deal cost-wise with them than I would have gotten with the other people I looked at. And I didn’t have to wait a long period of time for the installation.
The only thing I was a little concerned about was the installers didn’t take the old carpet. They didn’t want to put it in the van with the other carpet, which I didn’t understand. My husband is disabled, but the only thing wrong with the carpet was it’s old and puckered up. I had to get my garbage company to pick it up. They were going to charge $10 a roll. And I had nine rolls of carpet. But the one that came out and sold me the carpet just picked up and took the carpet so I didn’t have to pay all that.

I had my carpeting in my master's bedroom installed by Empire Today. I considered Home Depot but I went with Empire because they could install faster. They came when they said they were going to come. There are so many companies that don’t come when they say they're coming and they leave customers hanging. So, they came out the next day and it was very helpful that they brought samples right into my house. They gave me a price then they installed the next day, which is very quick. And the team who installed it were fine. They were were in and out, very courteous, and got the job done. The carpet is fine and I got what I paid for. It's not $25 a square foot yet it doesn’t show footprints. When one walks on it, it doesn’t stay padded down. It met my expectations and it's wonderful. It was very easy working with Empire so I will buy from them again. Also, I didn't even have to leave my house, which to me was a benefit.

I then decided to go back with them and had them install a carpeting at my home particularly at my office. The installers who came did an excellent job and within a very quick amount of time. I had a very bad experience with Empire Today. We had a tile and carpet installed. While the carpet was great, they put the wrong color tile. They came out the next day and still didn’t have the right tile but it was close to the color it was. And then, there's a grout issue that isn't filled up all the way. You can actually walk on it and feel a lot of the clip of the trowel. They were supposed to be coming out there over two weeks ago, and we just finally got a callback.
At that time, we're trying to get the house put back together with furniture and appliances coming in. But before that, I have to get all the trowel done. So I settled for what was delivered, which wasn't really right. But you got to do what you got to do. Everything was scheduled from the top. Trowel first then carpet, then furniture and then appliances after all the trowel was set and set up. The tiles part didn’t go too smoothly but I had to take what I got to keep my stuff going and get my house put back together. I have used Empire in the past and had good service but not this time. I had another neighbor down the road that I even recommended to them, and he's not really happy. Right now, Empire got someone coming out to look at the grout and examine how it was done. Hopefully, they get the issue resolved in a timely manner.
We never want our customers to feel this way, and we'll be in touch with you shortly to further address your concerns.

I had Empire Today install engineered hardwood in my home. Compared to various other places, they could do it right away, in just a few days. It was great, beautiful, and I loved it. Also, the pricing was great and I had friends that had used Empire several times. Kim, the designer, was a wonderful person. She came the same day I called her to measure and give me estimates. She brought me an enormous amount of flooring samples and she knelt down on the floor with me to decide which one to get since there were so many options. The installers came the next day and they moved my furniture properly.
I originally had some other kind of hardwood and I wanted it to go a certain direction. But when the installer pulled up the carpeting, he couldn’t put the new hardwood over the old hardwood because of the joints. He then gave me several other options and told me that if I get engineered hardwood instead, they can do it the way that I wanted. I immediately called Kim and she was in my house within 45 minutes with engineered hardwood samples. I reordered flooring from Empire and the installers brought it the next day. Everything turned out wonderful and I was very thrilled. This was an incredible experience and the product was absolutely beautiful. I’m telling all my friends now to contact Empire first if they need flooring.

Empire Today installed carpeting in our new home that was purchased in North Richland Hills, Texas. We were under the gun and we went with what we thought was a highly rated carpet. It had to do with timing and relocating. Plus, it was convenient that my wife was able to look at samples in another state. We also liked the thread count, the warranty, and the stain protection. There were some challenges navigating through their customer service when we were moving and doing the relocation. There were some stuff that we had to do in terms of pricing and setting up the appointment. It was a nightmare using their 800 number to get to our initial sales rep. But he was great and he made it convenient. The installation went well and the quality of the product is amazing. All in all, they met and exceeded our expectations. I would recommend them to a friend.

I had Empire Today put carpeting into my master bedroom. I used to order our carpet somewhere else but we went with Empire Today this time because their price was right. It’s very nice quality carpet and it's perfect for my bedroom. However, they didn’t have much of a selection. They only have about four things to select from and the colors are all quite similar. It was the owner who came and took my order after I called them. But I'm a little unhappy with him. He talked to me about financing my $2500 order but he never further discussed that. So, I paid him $2500 but I would have liked to spread it out. He wrote my style and he was talking fast. My living room needs to be done too before the holidays, but finances are limiting me as I was doing that. So I think he should’ve reminded me that I could have financed that. And I never thought of it then because I'm used to paying for things in full, but I need the last carpeting in the house.
But the very big problem was that Empire Today does not have their own installers. They use rogue gentlemen with trucks with no markings on them. They should’ve come on a Monday but they didn’t get here by noon so I called Empire Today. I got a call back about 2:00 o’clock telling me they're having technical difficulties and the men would be here within the hour. At 3:00 o’clock they never got here and I didn’t get another call from anybody. This was creating a problem because the bed and bedroom set was coming on Wednesday. Then the mattress was coming on Friday. And I had to put all of that on hold. I'm beginning to think that I don’t want to work with any company again who doesn’t have their own delivery people or installers because you don’t know who you're getting.
The installers finally showed up Tuesday about 1:00 o’clock, and I never even got a call on Tuesday morning. Two of the guys were in their 50s and one was in his 30s and he was a real worker. They did a good job and I was pleased about that. The carpeting is wonderful. I'm glad I was there paying attention to them because it's a very big bedroom and they had to piece the carpeting in one area. I went in there and they told me they were piecing the carpeting in one place but it should be done at another place so they did it the way I wanted it done. And they were kind, polite and they were sorry they hadn’t been there on Monday.
The room is empty so its ok but ut I was anxious. I'm always busy and I have a husband in a nursing home and I have a lot of responsibilities. And that week was a week from hell because I was trying to get phone calls back from furniture companies and trying to get the mattresses people not upset with me. I got my furniture the next week because the companies couldn’t change their time or day. So my complaint about that is, this man who claimed he was the owner of Empire Today in this area, why does he never call me? I even telephoned his number and left a message on Tuesday, “Where are these men,” and I never got a return call. He lives only 15 miles from me, why couldn’t he have come over here to see how things are going? Why didn’t he check on the work? I've never seen or talked to them except that time when he came in here, sold me the carpet and got all my money. So, I'm very reluctant to order again from Empire Today.

Finally getting my carpet installed after the company rescheduling for over a month. The first time the person car broke down and no one ever showed. Wasted a who day waiting for no reason. The second time the person had car trouble again but did show at some point only to have brought the wrong carpet. They didn’t offer to go get the one I want but yet said, "Call your salesperson." who by the way when I did never returned my call not even until today. Never heard from him but he knew how to stay for hours trying to close the deal. I’m clear that Empire only sells carpet and hires different contractors to install it. I was under the impression that I’m dealing with a professional company not people who are standing at the Home Depot waiting for Work.
I plan to hold this company very accountable if anything gets broken or stolen so I pray all goes well today. I’m sitting here very nervous thinking that all the signs in the beginning was for me to back out. Silly me. I’m praying for a miracle and waiting on my credit that I was offered of $100 that they say I have to wait for an approval. They collect all the money upfront and tell you to wait for the credit and a phone call. So I’m still waiting because justice will be served. I deserve this considering I started this on Oct 7th and now it’s Nov 11th and they are finally here with the right color carpet. I’m still very nervous about the installation because on the video they show you it’s a team of people moving your furniture and doing the installation. Today I have one lady and a man who must have the willpower to remove my $5,000 very heavy California king size bed. Because if they break it Empire will pay for it.

I totally understand the window of all day 8am-6pm. I took off losing 8 hours of pay. I get up at 8am call them, make sure everything is okay. They will call when they are getting close. I get a call from them at 9:30, saying, "We will be here this morning." Well that didn’t happen. So my expectation was high, based on what they told. 12 noon rolls around. Nobody shows. I call at 12:01, they tell me the installer will be there in the afternoon, then why did YOU CALL ME AND SAY MORNING? Yes you called me. They don’t show up until 5:30pm.
I could have worked not only 4 hours but my whole 8 hour shift. I had an engagement to go to, missed that. They tell me all they are doing today is Moving my bedroom furniture to the living room and coming back tomorrow. Are you for real? So tomorrow I will miss another engagement, a Veterans Day party. So here’s the emotional train: confused, mad, angry, pissed, almost crying. Now I’m in empty bedroom with one installer and the other one is moving furniture and puts a foot board near my antique china cabinet and it falls. I scream, "Oh my God!"
Neither one of them speak good English. So they are speaking back and forth in another language. One guy says, "The glass is not broken!" Are you for real? It’s smashed. The glass is inside and out. It’s a gorgeous a jasper cabinet with beautiful hand painted flowers and the glass has gold lines running through it. I am totaled appalled about the service of this company. Worst scheduling ever. I have never experienced such bad service in my life. And I moved in 7 months ago. Had a lot of work down, from painting to construction, plumbing, Electrician, and all that was so smooth and wonderful. Now I have to put up with this again tomorrow AND find a cabinet glass antique repair company for a written estimate so Empire can pay for it. This day was a nightmare.
They gave me $100 of for the delay in the arrival, the phone rep said, "So now it will be $1855.46." I repeat everything he said. I look at the certificate of completion which they left here and THAT IS the amount $1855.46. So you mean $1755.46 not 1855.46... And as soon as They walk in they want to get paid. Who get paid before the job is done? Seriously? Shady? Nope nada zilch, I’m not paying. So installer calls his boss. They speak Spanish and then I have to get on the phone. Nope not paying. Look at your records, see what the agreement was, do I have to do all your work? Which reminds me, when the nice saleslady come over and we set EVERYTHING up, I was constantly getting emails and phone calls about, “what is your installation date?" What? Hello? You are empire and you are asking me the installation date? Are you seriously people? Focus people. I should have cancelled then.

But initially when I called to make the installation date I said to the young woman on the phone that I had changed my mind and that I wanted to change my color choice. She said okay and took my color choice. And then when the installer came they came with my original color. The installers didn't speak English so they didn't say much at all and understanding them also was a challenge. Like calling for tech support with your computer and you end up talking to India it makes it a little difficult.
But when I finally got someone on the phone who did speak English they said, "Well, if you changed the color, you should have gone to a new contract.” I said, "No one ever told me I had to do that." Since I was very anxious to get a carpet in this place I just elected to go with what my original choice was instead of what I really wanted. I asked Empire when I was on the phone with them when the installers were here asking them to make an accommodation for me and no one made it clear. And so they made a very minor adjustment. But still overall we're happy with the choice here. They're fast and efficient. If you need something done fast these are the people to go to.

My brother and I had our house done by Empire Today. His house is fine, the project was done on time, and they were very efficient. But for my house, which was a much bigger project, work started on June 18th and as of today, it's still not finished. There have been a lot of calls back and forth, and there have been tickets opened up. I requested that somebody has to give updates every week to let me know what's going on, but that has not been done either. I spoke to a manager but it seems nothing is moving.
The reason we looked into Empire Today is that we saw it on TV. We also looked into Lumber Liquidators but they are more expensive. Add to that, Empire Today has specials. They gave us 50% off. So we called them and somebody came out right away and showed us some products. We just happened to pick out the one that we liked, and it happened to be an engineered wood. We liked the color, the thickness, and also it was scratch resistant. So we purchased it for the entire house except for the kitchen.
So far, it's been a long drawn-out job because of the transition, the one between the tiles and the woods, which they had to put as well. The stairway is what holds us the longest. When they sold the products, they didn't mention anything about different colors and heights. So when the installers came and installed the floor, the nose of the stairway is of a totally different color. They're distinctively different than the engineered wood. The stairs have several different colors and to put the floor would make it look like it wasn't professionally done.
Also, the height between the nose of the stairs and the rest of the stairs are different. I even took pictures and then showed it to them. The person that sold us the product came the second time to do my brother’s house. I showed her my house, she took a lot of pictures and then told me something needs to be done. We sent the pictures over to the project managers. They also saw the difference in colors and said they're too distinctly different and they need to be fixed. However, nothing's ever done. There's no movement. Originally, I called them every week to get the updates.
It's been three weeks since I've taken some pictures and sent it. So far, I have not heard from them. I did what they asked me to do: I called and locked a ticket about the colors and locked a ticket about the height differences from one piece to another. They're going to send two specialists out and take a look at it. Nothing’s done.
My husband and I have not signed off the completion of the project either. The project originally said that it will be done in five days from the day that they started ripping off my new carpet. It's been three and a half months now. Also, they wanted a 100% payment up front, which is $30,000, $30,000 after the 50%. So that project right here, it was really $60,000 but they gave me 50% off originally. That’s why I signed for $30,000. They wanted that up front but then they can't hold up their promise at the end of the candle.
If I wanted to take this further, I could. But my intention is I want to get the job done and done right for what I paid for. All I want is for them to come and fix my stairways the way it should be and then fix all the transitions to make sure it's glued out because when you walk on it, it's moving. And all I want is an update, but if there's no update, I feel like nobody is doing anything about it. Hopefully, one day I forget or give up. But how can I forget if I could look at the stairs every day?
We're disappointed to hear that this was your experience, and assure your concerns are important to us. We'll be in touch with you shortly to learn more.
Thank you.

I needed a change of carpet. I got a recommendation from my sister since she was very pleased with the service she got from Empire Today. I followed suit and had Empire Today install carpeting in the living room and dining area. I like the color and although it’s a commercial grade carpet, it has a very nice feel to it and it’s durable. The cost wasn’t too exorbitant and the salesman was very nice. He knew my circumstances and they told me “Don’t worry, the installers will work with you,” and sure enough, they did and were very courteous. Everybody that worked with me on that carpet was great and they called to see if I was satisfied. Everybody admired the carpet and I told them about the service I got. I have also recommended Empire Today to two people.

I loved the way Empire's reps treated me. I had laminated flooring installed in my home and they did a wonderful job. Their whole process was very nice. I liked the guy that came and brought out the samples for me to see. What you can see is better than on a computer, and I really appreciate him bringing books and things for me to look at.
I also liked the guys who Empire brought out here to put the floor down. They were very professional, very clean, careful and very considerate about how I felt about things. Everything they did was exactly like I wanted. They cut the stuff outside the house and set it up beautifully. Then they put those booty things on their shoes. I love my floor. Right now, I’m doing double payments to get this paid off since I want them to do my kitchen floor around February. The guy who came out here before gave me his card and I’ll be calling him to let him know when I want him to come and we’ll do it again.
I love the way my floor looks and that it's easy to clean. Empire also provided instructions for everything I needed to know. They gave me a paper on how to take care of the floor and what to use on it because I've never dealt with wood floors. The guy who first came out was very good about the whole process. He made sure that I got the information that I needed on how to take care of the floor and I really appreciated that he came through on that.

I don't normally post stuff like this... but I have to say that Empire Today is the worst company I've ever dealt with. I was supposed to have floors installed today starting at 8am as promised by the sales rep. That turned into 11am, then 3pm, and now tomorrow - which would mean another day of missed work, sitting and waiting while living room furniture is in hallway. Customer service was the most unhelpful and unprofessional, rude group of people I've ever spoken to. I was left on hold when trying to cancel the order, then their system disconnected me and sat on hold for fifteen minutes again. Never again! Buyer beware! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH Empire Today.
We've read your review, and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We're aware that your order was cancelled per your request. If you continue to have questions and/or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com.

I had Empire Today install carpet throughout the whole house. I'm in construction so I deal with a lot of carpet installers and other companies were about $4,000 higher than Empire. Also, Empire gave us a superior product. I got a better product at a less expensive price. Also, I felt comfortable with Manny, our sales guy. We had a concert to go to in Dallas and they weren't going to be finished by the time we need to leave for the concert. We had Manny come in and sit in our house and watch them finish the job while we went to the concert. Empire did everything and it was professional the whole way through. It was a great experience and I'd recommend them to anybody.

Empire Today had the 50/50/50 sale at the time. It is half off on the installation, on the padding, and on the carpet. I got a good amount of pile carpet for under $2000, which was a good deal and I was very happy with it. When their sales rep came the first time, we had an emergency so we weren't there when he showed up. However, he took the initiative to come back the next day, which I was glad about. He also brought samples. It was a very easy process.
Their sales rep was on here on Wednesday and they installed it on Friday. It was unbelievable. It was a big plus that they came so fast. They also have their own financing, so we didn't have to pay it upfront. We financed the rest of it and we'll pay it off at some point. We installed the carpet in two major bedrooms and a major staircase, and they did it with ultimate precision. It's beautiful. They also moved the furniture. They only took five hours to get everything done. I would highly recommend Empire Today to anyone looking for value and speed.

Empire Today was more affordable and more timely. I had to get the rental filled so I was under a time constraint and Empire could come out within a few days unlike some of the other contractors who could come out after weeks. The salesperson from Empire was informative, showed me all of the choices, and worked with me on a couple other things. And there was a couple of things in the house that were questionable like a shelf that was built-in to the floor, but he was very knowledgeable and helpful. I had Empire install two different products and two different teams came out at different times. The first was the laminate, and it was for the majority of the house. And the second was the vinyl in the bathroom. I looked at a vinyl core flooring which was nice but expensive. It’s a rental home and I was concerned about durability and it’s a dark color, too. But so far, I’m really happy with the installation.
I had gotten an automated call from Empire Today. But then, I got a personal call from the installers when they were 45 minutes out which was helpful for me because my rental is close to my work. And so when I got a call, I could just run over there and meet them. And they worked with me on a couple of things. One of the things that I found really impressive was they told me that if I'd buy some baseboard trim, they'd cut and install it for me and they did. Also, part of the deal was we’re putting quarter-round. But because I had pulled off the old trim and it had a paint line, it was two inches up and I wanted to get something that would cover that. So they worked with me on it and it was really nice.
The second team that came out and did the bathroom floor worked with me as well on an issue that came up. The toilet bracket that you put the bolts into was all rotted out. And they told me they didn't have that part but if I'd run and get it, they'd work with me in putting it in. I got it in and I avoided a very expensive plumbing bill. Empire went beyond my expectations. The quality of the product and the ability for the installers to work with me on these issues were exceptional. The flooring is great, too, and the renter is very happy and she loves it.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM EMPIRE!! I met with a salesperson on 10/3/2017 to replace the carpet and luxury vinyl in our basement. The salesperson Daniel ** wasn't great with explaining things... Obviously just wanted the sale and was pushing us to sign. We ended up getting a pretty good price for what we were looking to do, so we scheduled our installation for 10/7/2017. The salesperson assured us that if we paid for the extra leveling of the flooring that it would be completed within the one day of installation, so we decided to have our floor leveled to make sure we did it right.
On the day of installation the two people that they sent came, without the necessary items they needed to complete the job... They went to Home Depot 30 min away to get concrete to level the flooring (wasting time). Once they came back they had to rush the job, were drinking Coronas while working... and "finished" around 6:30pm... Came upstairs, rushed out the door without a tour or explanation of anything (they just wanted the signature so they could leave).
After the gentlemen left I noticed some things weren't completed properly... For starters they left all this wet glue that was tracked throughout our brand new flooring (not a big deal but I had to clean it up myself), the carpet wasn't attached to the walls (would pull up when I vacuumed) and the transition strips weren't installed properly... Honestly this was THE LEAST of my worries after how this company has treated me since.
Later that night when I was in the basement, I stepped on the transition strip and it cut my foot open... ARE YOU SERIOUS?! I immediately called the sales guy who insisted to let him know if I had any problems... Big shocker that he didn't pick up. I figured it was the weekend and that he would respond come Monday so I sent him an email about the things that need to be fixed and patiently waited. Monday came and went and this guy was nowhere to be found. ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY AND THEN THEY DON'T CARE.
I ended up calling the 1-800 number and giving them all the information... Let them know that I cut my foot open and that this was a safety hazard for myself and my family. They said they opened a claim and someone would be contacting me shortly... Fast forward to 10/13/2017 and I still hadn't received a call back from anyone regarding this matter. I had to call the 1-800 number again and ask them why no one contacted me... The person let me know that it was assigned to a manager and they should have contacted me by now and they are surprised that no one did. YES I AM SURPRISED AS WELL!! Anyways I ended up getting in touch with someone...eventually. Her name is Kim (New York office).
Kim was very nice in the beginning... She was blown away at how I was treated... Said she was so sorry and then scheduled someone to come out and fix our transition strips and see how the leveling of the floor needs to be fixed. These gentlemen arrive at my house on 10/17/2017 and had the WORST attitude ever... When I showed them how unleveled the floor was, they had the audacity to argue with me and tell me that THAT IS EMPIRE INSTALLS THEIR FLOOR. So not only do they overcharge you to get your floor leveled... they do a terrible job and then try to convince you that it's ok. HEY EMPIRE >>> IT'S NOT OK. Next we moved onto the transition strip and how the carpet isn't attached... Their quoted words were "We're not going to bother fixing this now because we will probably get sent back here to fix the floor" and they walked out of my house and left. Like they were inconvenienced. Are you kidding me? After I took a day off of work to have them fix the SAFETY HAZARD??
Right after these guys left... I called and left a message for Kim explaining the entire process to her, and let her know that they didn't fix anything... And they just left. NO CALL BACK... Shocker. The next day I am home alone and get a phone call from someone's personal cell phone... It's the original installers threatening me that they are on their way to my house right now... I had no appointment scheduled, I am home alone... About to leave for work and these guys are being so threatening and aggressive. I immediately hung up and tried Kim again. She picked up, and at this point I'm in tear... Why is this happening... I thought Empire was a good company. BUT I WAS MISTAKEN.
Kim again is so apologetic and is like, "I'm going to speak with my manager (Andrew)..." At this point I'm so frustrated and upset I don't want to have to deal with this company at all and I WANT MY MONEY BACK. Another week goes by...with me calling and leaving message and not getting a call back. Finally I hear from Kim and she needs to schedule a manager's inspection of this SAFETY HAZARD. I agree, but now I have to wait another week for them to send someone... It's now 10/31/2017 and I had to take another day off from work to meet with this manager for the inspection... I wait the entire 4 hour window that they gave me and at 2pm the sales manager from the New York office Andrew calls me and I kid you not "We had an appointment today... Yeah we're not coming, you can have a third party come if you want, if not... call corporate". Literally so rude, and just hung up.
So yes, yes I did call corporate. I called and wanted to let them know how their customers are being treated after spending a lot of money and after BEING INJURED because of their product and installation. When I was on the phone I heard that this New York office closed my Original complaints (I have all the records on file) and said they were completed. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Anyways this nice person reopened them and sent it up to corporate because they were also BLOWN AWAY at how this New York installation office was treating me... They told me the LEAST I should be compensated with is a full refund... That literally the least they could do. I ended up leaving voicemails for the GM John **, the senior sales manager Joseph ** and Chris **... letting them all know that I was injured and they have to make this right. Called and left 3 voicemails for each of them... I have received ZERO callbacks. Not one.
I ended up getting in contact with a corporate resolution person Janine, and we have gone back and fourth until today... when she informs me that the GM John ** will not be offering a full refund. Say that I should take ANOTHER day off of work to let them "fix" their mistakes. HEY JOHN, since you won't pick up and call, and make this matter right... your office has 2 opportunities to fix the installation. It's been over a month since installation and since I CUT MY FOOT WIDE OPEN. PLEASE WHATEVER YOU DO!!! Do not work with Empire Today... All they care about is getting their money and they honestly don't care if you get hurt or they mess up. Money hungry company that honestly should not longer be in business. The men showed up at my house to perform the installation at noon and stated that they must leave at 330 to pick up kid. When they returned on the next day the work still need baseboards installed by another person. The guy were professional until the carpet installation people arrived and there seemed to be some issues with the transition stripe from hard floor to carpet. The problem was resolve by the carpet installation people. During the clean up of the baseboard install on Friday a different installer notice large gaps in the hard wood cuts from one side of the room to the other. The baseboard would not cover the gaps. The installer had to push the board from one side to the other using a crowbar and rubber hammer to make adjustments to the boards in order to make the baseboard cover the gaps.
My only reason for telling this is that the original hardwood installers did a poor job with cutting the boards and laying the floor. This cause the second and third installers to clean up the mess so I was happy with the work. I would not recommend my friends based on this story. For the amount I paid for this service I expected more professionalism and work from the beginning to end. Thank you.

When my carpet was installed, the seam was placed in front of the entrance to the master bedroom, which I would consider to be a high traffic area, and should have been placed differently. Not only is the seam totally noticeable, but the wax or whatever it is that they use to seam the carpet, is so thick, that you can actually feel it when you step on the seam. I don't think that's acceptable, since the carpet that I purchased is a good quality carpet, and I expect it to last for many years to come. First of all, the sales person was very polite and informative, and we thought truthful. We picked out the second flooring to hardwood. The sample we picked was the same thickness as the hardwood. When the floor was installed, it was beautiful, and we were happy... until we found some scraps of the flooring and realized this was a very thin floor and not the thickness we picked out in the sample books. Everything on paper is correct but it is still not the thickness of flooring we picked out.
Then there was a large amount of leftover flooring so I took a picture of it in the truck. When I questioned Empire about it, I was told nothing was returned, and the installer, Hector, said there was nothing left except the box he left for us. Because I couldn't definitely prove that I took the picture after the floor was installed, Hector gets away with stealing the leftover floor and I get no credit for it. I will never use Empire again and will not recommend Empire to anyone.

I had a frustrating experience with Empire Today. We thought they would be good because of the TV advertisement. We ended up having laminate flooring for our two bedrooms, as well as the living and dining area. We originally purchased it since we had to get rid of our carpet and we wanted something that would be easier to keep clean. We really like it. It has a much warmer feeling.
However, it wasn't installed correctly and we've had a lot of problems with the installation. While they've come back several times, the people who came have varying levels of dependability. They haven't had anybody who we felt was prepared to do it as far as their abilities and knowledge. But we've had them come out several times and say that they couldn't do it because they didn't have what they needed. A lady followed up after our last visit because I was so frustrated with having to call them all the time.
She said that she had ordered correctly. She checked her order and told me that she ordered the laminate and the trim, which they didn't have with them that day. I don't know why it would take so long. They said they're going to be there in the late afternoon but they didn't show up. It was in the summer and it took a really long time to get everything done. And then, we had a flood and had the floors replaced. It just enlarged our frustration.
And then, I waited to have the replacements done because we had lots of popped up ends on the laminate. Some were even cracked and one was deformed. We waited to have the repairs done till this past week. But when I called they said they didn't have the product. It has been more than a month so I called again to ask if everything is set up to do the work. They said they're all set. That's on a Tuesday. And then, at 11 o'clock, they called and said the product wasn't in. They never called back again after that so I called them on a Friday. I told them that if they didn't do it that week, they'd have to schedule on a different Friday because while my mom is off on Fridays, I'm not. Again, they never called back.
I called them on Thursday just to know whether when they were going to be doing it. They said I was scheduled for the next day. I asked if the laminate was in. Finally, they said the product's in. So Friday came and they called to let me know they would be there at 7:00. They were here at 8:00 but they didn't have the product. They told me it would take some two or three days to do it. There's nothing about the trim. Overall, I like the product but do not like the service.

Empire Today installed laminates in my three bedrooms, living room, hallway and entry. It’s been good so far and I'm happy, although I like the colors of Lowe’s way better. Empire didn’t have many choices and that was the only issue that I had with them. The installation crew was the nicest and the cleanest, and they were hard workers. They completed the job in two days. I've told a couple of people about Empire and have recommended them.
However, Empire hasn't delivered their promise yet. One of my best friends highly recommended them and kept raving about them. I even paid $35 for an estimate through Lowe’s. The salesperson said that my friend would get $100 at least for recommending them and because of the high purchase that I had. My sister was going to get carpet throughout but I talked her into doing exactly what I did and she's getting it done now. I already gave Empire my friend’s address and the date, but she hasn't gotten her $100 yet and I'd like to know where mine is too. I called them, told them and gave them all the information but I still haven't heard anything.

We’ve had carpeting and laminate flooring put in by Empire Today. We had the carpeting in the living room and one of the bedrooms and a sunroom, and we had laminate flooring in another bedroom. We had another company come out and give us an estimate and show us some carpet samples but Empire seemed to be the better choice so we went with them. From the carpeting selection that we had, we're able to pick something that wasn’t what we were looking at before. We wanted Berber but we didn’t want that industrial look, and so we got something else. Empire Today’s product was a very well-made carpeting and we were very pleased with it.
The cost was less too and we’re very satisfied with the quality. We haven’t had it that long but it seems very durable and easy to clean. The flooring vacuums up and it looks really plush and it’s very comfortable to walk on. I was impressed with how quickly the workers came and put it in. They really did a fantastic job at getting it done and they were out of here in the amount of time that was expected, even less. The laminate floor guy also was here and got it done quickly, and I was very impressed with that.

We had a staircase that went down to the basement and it got a lot of wear, so we switched it out to a steadier carpet which was what we expected. We mostly picked something that blended with our other carpet that was going to be sturdy. It’s a little darker and has more colors in it than our existing carpet. The stairs each had a lip that they had to wrap the carpet around, so it was a fairly complex job and the installers did a very nice job.
The only problem I had was that Empire Today was not really a company but they’re brokers. The guy who did the estimate and showed us the samples and the installers were nice guys, but they're independent contractors which I consider a negative. The first people that we talked to wrote our address down wrong and no matter how many times I tried to get that corrected, it never did. So every time somebody came, they would call me to ask where I was because Empire Today gave them the wrong address. I was unhappy with that because once they’re done with it and it goes into the system, then that’s what it is.
Also, the ads that we saw said it was immediate delivery but it took about three weeks. So, their advertising was optimistic if not deceptive. We had plenty of time, so we didn’t worry about it, but if we were, it would have been a big issue. That’s basically a result of it being not really a carpet company. They’re an order taker and they’ve got the guy who shows what it is and then the installers. I suspect that if the installers had done something wrong, it would have been a big problem and I would have to go through three different levels of communication to get anything accomplished. I wouldn’t call Empire Today again.

Empire Today installed laminate flooring in our hallway and two bedrooms. The workers were wonderful and hardworking. I had two sets of teams because I had flooring installed in one bedroom and the hallway during the first week, then I decided to get another bedroom done and another team did it. The first team was here longer. They put the subfloor and they were amazing for five hours. Everything was professional. However, Empire's ad said it was half price and I didn’t think that it was but I went ahead with them. If it wasn’t in dire need, I wouldn’t have gone with Empire because of paying the money upfront. My friends are not going to like that and not going to do that so I can't recommend it, but I could if it wasn’t for that factor. But as far as the looks and the installation, everything was perfect. The laminate flooring doesn’t show dirt and I like it.

The tile in the bathrooms was a consumer's worst nightmare! They installed the tile but didn't re-install the toilets (as agreed on) and when we finally were able to get ahold of Empire, two days later, we were told we would need to hire a plumber and Empire would reimburse us. Unfortunately the flooring installers put the toilets in the showers and we weren't able to get a plumber out until four days later (we found out we needed to get the plumber late Friday afternoon) on Tuesday. We also noticed that the tile installers neglected to put in the baseboard we had paid for.

We contacted the sales person and he said we needed to call the scheduling manager... long story short we never got a call (I doubt this person exists). We finally got the bathrooms finished and sent the plumbers bill to Empire. Weeks went buy... no check. I contacted the salesperson again and again was told he couldn't do anything and I would need to talk to the operations manager. I've called and called and called, only to get her answering voicemail. When I finally got disgusted and left a message telling her I wouldn't make any payments until the plumber's bill was paid back to me, she called and left a message about how 'sorry' she was and that they normally didn't do business this way.
I've called at least ten more times. She never called back. So today I called Wells Fargo to let them know there would be no payments sent until Empire (know from now on as "The Evil Empire") only to find out my account was credited two weeks ago for the plumbing bill. Great news right? Only a credit to my Wells Fargo account doesn't help pay the amount charged to a different credit card to pay the plumber. This company has the WORST customer service I've ever experienced. Don't buy from The Evil Empire!

My husband and I chose to have our kitchen flooring redone after moving into our home because the tiles shifted and cracked with weather changes. We had our carpet changed by Empire in our previous condo therefore my husband suggested that we use them to redo the kitchen floor even though I have had great experiences with Home Depot tiling our bathroom.
From the start the service was very poor with Empire in August 2017. The crew that came to do the work arrived in an unmarked van with the wrong tile. It took two weeks and my personal photos of the correct tile texted to the Service Manager for them to bring the correct one (we chose a gray tile but the company has another tile called "light gray" which is actually darker???). The work didn't get started until my husband threatened not to continue the installation even though I had left numerous messages. The rep was responsible for correcting the error but the rep stated that it was customer service's job therefore neither party did anything until I asked my husband to call Empire as my messages didn't produce any results.
I have chosen to write this review at this late date because there are three depressions in the floor. The most obvious one is between the sink and the stove where I walk and stand numerous times a day. During the install I asked the installers if they would fill in the missing tiles that can be seen in the attached pictures. The flooring in the picture was the original that appeared once the installers stripped our ceramic tile. The installers told me not to worry about the missing tiles. "It would be ok". Once the work was complete, I felt that the floor was not level because even though luam was placed beneath the LVT, the areas that are missing tile below the luam are obviously be lower.
I called customer service and asked that a different crew be sent out to remedy the problem. Lo and behold they sent the same crew which, not surprisingly, did not think anything was wrong with the floor therefore no adjustments were made. I now have to live with this floor for the next 10-15 years as we have a 4 month old and will not be able to afford a new one anytime soon. It is unfortunate that a simple concept of laying tile on a firm even foundation is not one that Empire governs their business by. Use Empire for carpet but stay very far away if you need a reliable sturdy tiled floor for your kitchen.

In March 2017 we got our tax return and knew we had to look at replacing the carpets. We priced around and found Empire to be reasonable on cost. They came out, replaced the carpet in the living room and hallway. About September we started to notice plastic fraying coming through the seam out of the carpet in the hallway. On October 14 2017 the Installer came out and looked and took pictures of the carpet seam and carpet along wall area and noticed in the area along the wall that the binding had separated from the actual carpet and noticed it in the hallway seam as well. The installer stated then that the carpet was defective and it was not the installation. He sent everything to the Supervisor which we called numerous time and no response.
Finally the manufacturer said that the carpet defect was not covered under the warranty because it's a high traffic area. I am really disappointed in a big company to do this especially since the carpet is only 7 months old. So someone should replace this and also pay for what is owed on a defective carpet. Is the installer at fault or the manufacturer...

The sales person was outstanding and everything was exactly as he said, and it was perfect. The installers were fast, thorough, clean and they didn't leave one mess behind. We had a good experience to the point that we’re going to use them again. As soon as I can rearrange myself some more money, I’m going to have them come back and do the living room and then start replacing the carpet if I can afford it. The quality is good, they have a good service and good price, too.

We had a luxury vinyl tile installed by Empire Today. I like its durability as well as that style of product. Previously, we also had some carpeting done by them. We weren’t going to be ready for a couple of weeks after we decided to buy tiles but we were able to get the install date schedule that we wanted. We received an automated call which said that they were going to come in the morning but they didn’t end up coming until 1:00 in the afternoon. That was later than I had expected. But once they were here, they worked efficiently and got through the job in a reasonable amount of time.
Removing the old floors was a very messy process and there was dust in the air that they couldn’t do much about but they did a good job of cleaning up. So far, the quality seems fine. In one bathroom, there seems to be some cracking in the grout between the tiles which I intend to call in to see if we can get that fixed up. But otherwise, it seems good. I would definitely recommend Empire Today to somebody else.

Somebody else told me about Empire Today so I went with them. I had them install carpeting all through my house one room at a time except in my bathroom and kitchen. When my son was running the sweeping for me, he found that the carpet behind my TV in the living room wasn't pushed in behind the door there. I've been trying to get a hold of them but I was unable to. However, everything else is wonderful. The rep came to my house several times before I purchased the carpet and he was A1. He was very honest and explained things and he was here whenever I wanted him to be. He was a wonderful person and he should get a star for salesmanship. The installation team was all good too.
I like this carpeting a lot better than the older one I had when my home was built. It's a mixture of tiny black, brown and white spots and when the sweeper is running different ways, it looks colored. It blends in with everything. My favorite features are the stain resistance and the smooth backing where it won't wear off. It has a very good guarantee on it too. I have neuropathy on both of my feet from having radiation and it still feels very nice to walk on it. It's also very easy to clean. The quality is very nice for the money and I had already given a recommendation to other people.

The next day was installation day. I got a call to confirm my afternoon appointment. By 3:30 I called and the dispatch couldn't reach the installer but promised to have someone call me. Come to find out, they were not coming and NO ONE called to tell me.
I got a hold of my sales guy who said there was nothing he could do. He said he couldn't get a hold of anyone, but funny when I tried, I got a hold of someone who rescheduled me for a week later and I have to take off work. The first time I used Empire Today was years ago when my son was getting married and I needed a new carpet. It was really a mess and needed somebody right away to come and install it. And they did a great job with it. The second time that I needed them was when I was moving and my living room was years old which needed to be updated in order to sell the house. And since I had a good experience the first time, I called Empire Today again.
I just moved into a new home and I didn't have an intention to replace the carpet right away because I've only seen it twice and it looked passable. But the carpet was terrible. So, I called Empire Today again because I had a good experience with them two times before. I had them install carpet and vinyl tiles in the living room, dining room, kitchen, hallway, and entrance way. So far, I got everything that I asked for. I wanted a low-pile and the color was up to my expectation. And the installers were excellent and knew what they were doing.
I’d call them again if I need to. Besides, I'm not a shopper. I don’t have the time to hop around from store to store, looking at carpets and their prices. I work full time and going with Empire Today's a benefit. I know what I want and like, and I’m able to go online and put down what I’m looking for when they call and ask me colors. They bring exactly what I’m looking for in two different choices. I pick from there and they’re out the door, and I sign the contract.

I take off work, Installers arrived on Friday with carpet around 10ish in the morning, everything going fine despite me loaning garbage bags and drills for the job. After completing 2 rooms and a hallway I was informed at 8 pm that there was NOT enough carpet to finish the main living area and 2 closets until TUESDAY THE FOLLOWING WEEK! Needless to say I am livid!
I contacted customer service who said a supervisor would reach out in the morning however, after reading these reviews, I doubt it and may be left hosting a party in 2 days with a 1/2 complete carpet job... What makes matters worse is the fact that they made me pay BEFORE they would even take the carpet off the truck! 2 measurements and they still couldn’t get it right! I had Empire Today install vinyl flooring and carpeting. The crew that did the vinyl flooring was fantastic. We had to get a contractor in here to repair a couple of places on the floor, but they were only scheduled for one day and they didn't get the job done. They had to leave the work unfinished and our furniture was all piled up together. Then the hurricane hit and we were out of power for eight days, so they couldn't do anything then. The installation of the carpeting and the vinyl flooring had to be rescheduled six times. Caesar, the head of the crew, was really good, extremely polite, and very professional. He gave us outstanding service and Empire should send a whole bunch more like him. He came out by himself to finish the installation of the vinyl flooring and he worked until the job was completed. When it was finally done, the vinyl flooring was beautiful and I'm very happy with it.
When the first crew came for the installation of the carpeting, my daughter and I were at a funeral, so my friend Brenda and my son Michael took care of it. But when the crew arrived, they were extremely rude and very condescending. They said that there was no way we were ready for them to lay carpets and they ended up just leaving. The saleslady that came out knew that we were on disability and that all we could move was the knick-knacks, and she said that was fine, so we were surprised by the treatment that we got from the first carpet crew.
The installation of the carpeting was rescheduled. My daughter left a message with Empire, telling them not to send the first crew back out, and the supervisor called us back. Another crew finally came out and did the carpeting. The second crew was aware that we couldn't move the furniture and they moved everything, and afterwards they put everything back in place. The carpeting was beautiful and we're very happy with it, but the whole experience was a nightmare. I was happy with the flooring but disgusted at how long it took to get it done. It was a long-drawn-out experience and it was extremely dreadful having to live for so long with our furniture piled up.

The finished install had areas where the carpeting didn’t meet up with the tiles. I could see the edge of the tiles. I mentioned it to the installers and they called their supervisor. Turns out Empire subcontracts, which I was told by their rep that they didn’t. The installers supervisor arrived ready to do battle. I actually said as much to her at one point. She started in with saying that it was the floors, not the installation, her installers did the best they could do. BUT, it was the way she told me that left me more upset. She was a bully. I had to tell her to calm down on more than one occasion, and I told her that her tone was very unprofessional.
She explained everything away, she also mentioned that they didn’t work for Empire, told me that I should’ve done my homework, and added, if I'd dealt with her directly, her company would’ve done things right (like removing sliding doors, running the carpeting under the sliding track, and smoothing the tile mortar on the edges, which she said was causing the visible gaps).
After she finished her lecture, she told me to sign off on the job. I said I didn’t feel comfortable signing without talking to someone from Empire. Then the bullying got worse. She stormed out saying, "And that’s why I came to do battle..." I don’t have to sign, her guys will get paid anyway! Then she paused, and told her installers, since I wasn’t going to sign, they can dump all of my old carpeting onto my driveway! She wasn’t going to haul it away! I told her that it was part of my agreement with Empire. She showed me that it was part of me signing off with them, not Empire. I shook my head and said her behavior was extremely unprofessional, petty, and immature.
She followed me back inside and tried another tactic, explaining that my signing didn’t have anything to do with Empire, I could still complain to them, they had a guarantee, they would fix the problem... so, not her problem, they did their job, I needed to sign. So, with the fear of six rooms of old carpeting left behind, looming over my head, I signed, under duress, just to get it over with, hoping that I could sort things with Empire. No such luck. A supervisor from Empire came out later (after speaking with her) and basically repeated the same thing she said. It felt like they had each other’s back... and my client’s money.
For the record, I’ve flipped and organized the remodeling of a lot of homes. I’ve used Home Depot, Lowes, and Carpet World. It’s the first time I’ve used Empire, and it’s the FIRST time I’ve had this problem with a carpeting install. Yet, I’m supposed to believe it’s the tiles and mortar. And did I mention that this very same home had extremely old carpeting prior to this install, yet it didn’t have gaps. I mentioned it to the installers supervisor and that’s when she said part of the problem was Empires carpeting as well. So... it’s either the floors or Empires carpeting? Where does that leave me? Guess I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place... and stuck with a dodgy install. Needless to say, I will NEVER use Empire again, nor will I recommend them.

I've used Empire Today on my last three jobs and I recently had them install carpeting in a rental property that I own. So far, I'm pleasantly surprised with what they've done. I was able to get similar pricing with what I get with guys who are trying to get into the business now. Since I've done a few jobs with Empire, I'm in a position now to even get better prices. That's good when you deal with somebody with a reputable name. But even though they gave me a good deal, they might not be the best deal because I only had so much time for research. The only thing I suggest is if they're dealing with somebody like me who have multiple properties, they could offer more incentives. Nevertheless, I will definitely recommend Empire Today. I'm happy with them.

The first day that Empire Today came to my home was to start replacing my carpet. (10/9) After waiting all day they show up realizing they did not bring enough equipment and said they had to come back another day. They came back the next day (10/10) in which the Vinyl flooring people were coming too. They ended up both arriving at the same time. Both the carpet people and the vinyl flooring people. They were here from 9:45 in the morning til 4 pm.
At 4 pm, they tell me they can't finished the project today due to not bringing enough molding so they would have to come back another day. A week later after they finally contacting me saying they were gonna come on 10/17 to finish the molding. I get a call at 7:45 in the morning stating they don't have time that day to come due to being too busy with another job. So I had to take off of work on 10/18 just for them to come to finish the project.
When scheduling the appointment I was told I was gonna be the first house they go to. They ended up not showing up until 12:30... after all the hassle of trying to get this project finished and taking much longer than it should have the installers damage my upstairs flooring by scratching my hardwood floors from dragging their equipment through. They also scratched up my walls up in the room that they were working on after I just had them professionally painted the week prior. I called and filed a complaint with customer service and have not yet heard back from them since. I will NEVER use Empire again nor will I EVER refer them to anyone!

Everything was what Empire Today told me I was going to get. It took a little longer than usual but there were circumstances. I'm satisfied and the floor is pretty good. So far everything's good. I'm wondering though if there is a warranty on it. I'm worried about where they connected the carpeting. They split it. Where the two seams meet looks okay right now but I hope it last.

They were also so fast and it was a very good experience.

Homestead hardwood laminate flooring was installed in a hurry by the crew. When I looked over job later that day there was glue on flooring. I called co. to report. They sent someone but they next week. When they got there they said it wasn't glue. It was defective flooring and found other spots as well all over floor... It was two to three weeks before they came back out and said they couldn't replace just five or six boards since they are in the middle of room. They have to take up all flooring. It had been almost a month since they were put in. They said they would send a crew in a few weeks to take up and replace all floors. I had lived in home with all of living room and dining room in pieces having to remove all items from both. I couldn't wait any longer.
We put our items back in place, they sent yet another person to take pics of flooring and I explained to him that we were not removing stuff from cab. He said he was going to do this because he was the one coming back to do job. Well they sent a different crew two weeks later. They came in saw stuff in cab. Said THEY WERE NOT DOING JOB unless stuff was removed. They left... Company has called three to four times with ridiculous terms to resolve this matter. I don't think I should have to remove all items again and live in my home in such a mess again because of a defective product. This should on them... I would not recommend them to anyone.

I had them install carpeting for the master bedroom and another bedroom. I really liked the style and the height of the carpet. The installers were fantastic. They were very good, organized, and hardworking. I just want to mention one issue I had. A couple of years ago they have put carpeting in my basement, a very big bedroom, a very big area and I was pleased with their work. But now the carpeting is all lifting. They said they were going to repair that and they didn't while they were here. I was going to pay for it but they didn't have time to do that.

However, I have a little hesitation in them because although I like my floors it isn’t what I ordered. My order was grayer. I also tried to explain it to them, but they just said that it's all right and that it's already there. I even called them up for a warranty book on how to care for the flooring and I never got it. I paid for an expert on what to do and how. They're supposed to give me all that stuff. Maybe I'm expecting too much in this day and age and they're basically cutting things.

Imagine this being the worst review because that’s how disappointed and angry I am. We used Empire Today once before and we’re happy so we tried again. Al ** was our sales guy and nice while he was selling. We ordered carpet for both son’s rooms and paid extra for furniture REMOVAL. Al told us just to remove items from tops and installers would move furniture. Only item he instructed us to move was a tank with lizard. We did as instructed and more. Installers show up last Saturday, October 21 and that’s when our problems began. He wasn’t sure if he had enough carpet and then said it’s not his job to remove furniture and wanted us to take everything apart. I said there’s 5 of us here and we'll all carry. He walked outside and never came back in. I called every supervisor AND Al but no one could help.
The installer finally rang my bell and said he wanted his tools which I gladly flung out the front door. Then I was promised delivery Monday after 4:00 pm because we work and we’re already inconvenienced. So they showed up at 1:00. I had to run home from work to greet them and then left my mom here. They were very cordial. I was not here to see the final results until I came home from work. At that point I see a pull in the Berber. So back on phone with Empire Today and was promised a fix between 3:00-5:00 pm. Well it's 7:12 pm and I have called Empire a half dozen times. While everyone is cordial I have AGAIN been inconvenienced. Would like the COO or CFO to look up my record which salesman can provide and call my cell phone number. I will call every local news station as I do not tolerate being disrespected and inconvenienced when spending my hard earned money.
We're disappointed to hear that this was your experience, and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We'll be further reviewing your concerns.

We had Empire Today install carpet on the second floor and on our event area on the main floor. We looked at Home Depot and Lowe's and even if Empire Today costs a little higher, we went with them because of their availability to install. The carpet that we got was based on the color scheme of our paint on the wall and we wanted something that was a little darker and something that's durable. It's stain resistant and easy to clean, and we’re pleased with it.. The installation crew who came were very professional and they did a good job installing the carpet and cleaning up. There weren't tons of shreds of carpet lying around when I got home. The experience has been good from start to finish, from the salesman that came out all the way to the installation. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and worked within my budget, which was good. I would recommend Empire Today.

We were very happy with the salesman (Drake) and with all the communication around timing, installation, etc. The install itself was okay. The hard floor (laminate) guys were really good with explaining everything and working with us on items at the end. We, however, were not clear on the removal of the tile floors and the installers did not clean up very well. I'm still finding areas that have dust from the tile removal.
The carpet guy was a different story. He never actually showed up on the day of install, from what we found out he was going to be late because of another job going longer than expected. On the rescheduled day of install he didn't know his scope of work and wasn't going to carpet a hallway that was clearly part of the work. That got fixed when I reviewed the paperwork with him. He also said he wasn't suppose to move any furniture, but my contract clearly says he was. He said, "That's okay I have furniture sliders so I will go ahead and do it for you anyway" as if it was a favor instead of part of my contract. His work was great and he cleaned up very well after he was done.

So an Empire salesperson came and advertised these floor planks that are glued AND click together, advertising this is this amazing thing. Apparently I should have checked the fine print after because what he advertised and what I signed off on was different (my mistake, but also shady business) (my floors only glue down). Then the flooring team came (none of which were fluent in English) and pulled up all the carpet but didn't show up with all the pieces needed for the install and didn't realize until we were standing on concrete slab already. So they installed up until the transitions which were left exposed and then hazardous for the offspring I tend to keep in my home. They also did not glue pieces down all the way so I had floor planks sticking up at various points and obviously uneven and potentially dangerous while walking. Not to mention there were work materials left out from them coming and not finishing the job.
They returned the next day when I complained about the poor workmanship and reglued the pieces sticking up but still did not have transition pieces, despite me asking them to verify that they had these pieces by phone before they arrived. Now I should mention that there is a transition which WAS from tile to carpet in the hall and is now tile to vinyl plank. At some point (whether while removing the first transition or installing the second) they broke the tile and placed a transition piece and tape (which I was told to leave down for a few days to make everything stick) over the spot so I couldn't see the broken tile.
I just called to complain after taking the tape off (giving it extra time because thanks to prior experience I know their glue jobs aren't the best) and there's just exposed broken tile and seeping glue at that transition point. When I called I was told that my tile was already broken. Alright, so instead of repairing that spot or filling it in or putting a larger transition they just left exposed broken tile and threw out the "already broken" pieces. So let's just say all of this leaves a lot to be desired. Like a floor that's done right the first time and doesn't require me to miss extra work for them to fix after they advertise how "all they do is floors so you won't have any issues". Thoroughly disappointed.
We take matters such as this one very seriously and sincerely regret the inconvenience. We'll be in contact with you shortly to start working on a resolution.

I personally have never rated a company before but I feel the need due to the horrible job and customer treatment from this company. Empire Today was hired to install carpet throughout my home, installation was in February 2017. The appointment was scheduled for 8 am but the team did not arrive until 11 am, stating that the job on the previous day was not completed and they had to go back to complete that job. Before the installation begins, you are asked for the money up front (which I find to be shady). The installers began installation and asked if I would stay outside while they installed my carpet. At about 6 pm, I was told that the job was complete and that they were tired and left. They never did a walk thru or anything.
After I started putting my things back in place I noticed that my bedroom furniture was damaged a whole piece from the pillar of the bed and the side rail screws were missing, causing the bed to slant to one side, my wall unit was cracked on the bottom and there were dents on the walls. The carpet was not installed correctly, the installers left debris under the carpet, so there were lumps as you walked on it, the carpet kept coming out every time that I vacuum, a nail even came up and cut me. I called Empire Today to let them know about my findings. They scheduled 7 appointments of No Shows. I finally got a hold of the manager that promised he would compensate me for my furniture and would send someone to look at it. A sample was taken, a portion of the carpet was lifted and a long piece of metal was found in that spot, the carpet was vacuumed and he saw how much carpet was coming up thru the vacuum.
The representative was very surprised and stated the installers did a lousy job and that he had never seen so much carpet come up! Well as anyone in my position can imagine, I requested for my carpet to be replaced, as I did not feel safe not knowing what else was left under the carpet or when I would start to see bald spots, and I was told that they were sending it to get tested and would get back to me. I received a call that the claim that was filed to replace the carpet was denied!!! No fault was found in the carpet and that I would have to pay them again an installation fee of 750.00! Can you believe this company??? I already paid!!!
When a customer pays in full the amount owed and the carpet has not even been installed for a week and a complaint is filed, the company should be responsible for what their installers do. They are just giving the runaround. I thought because they have an 'A' Better Business rating, that this situation would have been handled quickly but it has not. Not sure how they stay in business or how they have an A rating. Please do not ever hire Empire Today!!!
We're sorry to hear that you feel this way. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we'll be reviewing your concerns.

First off let me say I love my carpeting, and the installation was first rate. I really can't say enough about how hard that team worked and how quickly. They were flawless. My salesperson was on time and polite, but it felt like buying a used car. The initial price for the work was $4K. I told him it wasn't a $4K project for me. So he "calls his manager" to find out if there's a lot of the carpet I selected in stock. If so, he might be able to give me a deal. He dropped the price to around $3,300 due to availability of product. Told him I needed the weekend to think about it. Never heard from him again.
But a few weeks later got an email "confirming my installation." I had never signed anything. So I called and was offered another $500 discount. So my ultimate price was $2,800, which was a great deal. But in the sales meeting I told him to just give me his best price, and he didn't. I don't like haggling. I am happy with the outcome and with my price. But now I know how inflated initial prices are.

The floors themselves look great, and the installation appears to have been done well. However, it took an additional 2 weeks and multiple phone calls to get someone to the house to install the transitions between the 2 materials I chose. A massive waste of time and an inconvenience between moving and work and all of the other vendors I was dealing with for that process.
Due to a still ambiguous error on the part of Empire floors, my approved finance amount was less than the amount financed. I'm told that shouldn't even be possible, and yet it happened. The result was that I had a new, maxed out credit product hit my credit report (103% of the credit limit). As expected, this dropped my credit score more than simply adding a new account would have.
When I brought the issue to Empire's attention via customer service, I was first referred to Wells Fargo, the actual lender. After speaking to Wells Fargo and making an emergency $1000 payment to get the balance under the credit limit, I was referred back to Empire. The 2nd person I spoke to at Empire essentially told me he wasn't sure what happened, and there was nothing that could be done.
At this point, I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told the matter would be escalated and I would hear back from corporate within 24 hrs. It has not yet been a full 24 hrs, but at this point, the damage to my credit has happened and I'm not sure what can be done anyway. I understand administration errors, but this was a large one and there has been no acceptable resolution. I will not recommend Empire to anyone, and have already steered a coworker in another direction. Depending on the resolution from corporate (if I even get a call) I will be filing a BBB claim as well. To recap- the job that was supposed to take 2 days took over 2 weeks. And, an error was made that dropped my credit score almost 100 points. But, the floors look nice, for whatever that's worth. You could say, the only positive part of the experience is actually due to the flooring manufacturers.

Worst experience. First cancel, They called to cancel because they ordered the wrong tile. Called to cancel because they did not have enough of the tile to finish a 4x4 bathroom... sounds like an excuse to me. Called to cancel because carpet not available. Called to cancel because employee was sick!!! And no one to cover! Called to cancel because they didn't have the right carpet for the outside porch.
Then when actually doing tile they did not put the underlay under the tile. and I paid for this... had to take pictures as their workers were doing this to get my refund, this was just BS I can't believe that this is an acceptable practice at Empire. Empire sublets the work to non-qualified/unprofessional people. Carpet was very thin and cheap quality for the price paid. After all of this and $2000.00 for this BS I would highly recommend NOT using this company.

The installer ended up coming after 6pm. They did a good job with the install. I was happy with install. Didn't appreciate the mix up with the timing and them coming late. Also I was told I had to pay before they installed. That made me uneasy and question their quality.

So, both my husband and I called to have an inspector come to the house to take a look. It's been a month and I'm getting a runaround. First no one called us back. We had our back porch enclosed and Empire Today put down the stone tile flooring for the room. I've lived in Chicago and in different parts of the country, and whenever I needed anything done on the floor, I always used Empire, even for the other houses that we’ve had. I grew up with their jingle on TV and I have their phone number, so it seemed a natural thing to call them.
But the first time the installer came out, he brought flooring that I didn’t like and we had a communication issue on the terminology for the type of flooring because I called it stone and he called it tile, so we were confused on what it really was. The next time he came out, he brought another sample of flooring and he explained that different people called it different things in different places. It was a very nice, light stone and it had grout that wasn't hard to take care of and didn’t require a lot of upkeep, and I appreciated the fact that it was low maintenance. I expected the floor to look good and to be almost totally maintenance-free. Those were the two things that meant the most to me and the flooring met my expectations on those two things. I was satisfied that the flooring looked good and it was done well.

We’ve been using Empire Today for a long time. We had good luck with them in the past because they did our carpet and they're good for that. This summer, we had part of our upstairs carpeted and I was so impressed with that. But, I’m so unhappy with the laminate flooring. When we called them out for an estimate to look at our situation, our priority was the bathroom upstairs. We picked out the product and we let the salesman know that we wanted to redo the downstairs in the future. He said that he had a really good deal going right now so we heard him out. The price was affordable so we went with it. We had them install laminate flooring in our family room, dining room, kitchen, small bathroom and laundry room in a span of eight days. We took up our carpet and they decided to go over the existing floor in the kitchen and we had a lot of trouble with this situation.
The rep said that there were a bunch of layers before the laminate type tile flooring and if we removed that, we would have to lift up and take up all of the cabinets as well. He didn’t want to get into that so that was never removed. However, they felt that if they added a thicker flooring, we wouldn’t be able to open our steel door that led to the garage. It would be too high so we had to go with something thinner which all made sense to us so we just agreed since we’re going to move in five years or so. All the while, the salesman was out here and he saw the condition of the floor because we had pulled up all the carpet and he could see better what was going on. We had to choose something that we didn’t really like. It was real thin. At that point we were all ripped up so we didn’t have a choice.
They brought in a lot of plywood because there were two rooms that needed to be brought up to that level and they did lots of layers of wet concrete to level it. They worked their butt off to level the floor. It was a huge job but I hate the floor. It feels like you’re walking on plastic. I’ve been fighting with them since Friday as we can’t even walk on the flooring. It has a huge bubble in the main area and every time you walk on it, it ripples. It lifts tables and chairs off the floor. I’ve been trying to get them out here. I have said that it was a hazard and I need to get somebody out here immediately. I made four phone calls yesterday and I texted our salesman last night telling him that either he come help me or I'm going to have to do something. Finally, I got a very nice call this morning that they’re going to send somebody out tomorrow to look at it. I told them that I fell on it when it initially bubbled up. It was a nightmare.

She explained that further investigation need to take place and I needed to be patient. I told her that I thought I was being treated badly and she had the nerve to ask what she was doing to me; well, not installing a quality product, taking my money and providing terrible service... I heartily do Not advise using them. FYI they are not listed as recommended by the Better Business Bureau (in the flooring section). In December 2016, we spoke with the salesman, Rudy, about replacing our carpet with hardwood in our living room and hallway. We selected the wood and color and he assured us this hardwood would be like steel and stand up for many years to come. We are retired and have 2 dogs and 2 cats living in a modest rambler style Home. Carpet was removed and all hardwood installed in one day. Looked nice and we were pleased although the floor was not smooth. Seemed to have space between boards. In February we noticed a chip on one of the boards and again in March. They came out and replaced both times. We were told any further issues with chips were not covered and not because of their product.
Today we have found a board warped lengthwise on one board. They will come and inspect but I’m not hopeful. I regret asking Empire in the first place and have not felt like they want to have satisfied customers once the sale is complete. We expected this hardwood to be that- hard wood. We have hardwood in our kitchen and wood there has never chipped. It warped after 18 years of use. I review as a way to warn others looking at Empire for floor options and ‘tread’ carefully. I will update after next Empire inspection of the warped board on their ‘hard’ wood.

Experience has been horrible. I gave them a chance with hardwood floors and it has been installed TWICE in the wrong manner. The first time it was installed, every single plank was dented and had dings in it. The floor was installed in the wrong direction per the manufacturer requirements. Again, their installers did this the second time wrong. In addition to the manufacturer installation guide, I've had 3 contractors look at the floor and confirm the installation is wrong. The planks were installed on vinyl as they did not take the existing floor away. The planks are also installed running parallel to the floor joists which is not in accordance with the manufacturer requirements. They should be installed diagonal or perpendicular. Now, my subfloor is sagging from the weight. The customer service rep that HUNG UP on me told me that my "house was crooked and leaning". That was his true response.
My house was built in 2000 and the area where the wood is installed wrong is the only area with issue. The manufacturer warranty also requires (multiple times in the paperwork) that the floors be allowed acclimation time for 72 hours prior to install... which was also not done. So, the floor is damaged and because of their negligence, the manufacturer warranty is voided. AND, they refuse to remedy. I am contacting a lawyer.
We understand that this has been a frustrating experience for you, and regret to hear that your hardwood floor is still in need of repair. We'll be following up with you shortly to address your listed concerns, and start working on a resolution.

Empire is the worst carpet installer ever. Paid them to carpet 12 stairs and a closet. They left raw cut edges on every single one of the stairs so that if I ever vacuum the Berber carpet will completely unravel. They have not carpeted the closet at all, although this was paid for 2 months ago. I have taken off 2 additional days from work without pay, because they assured me they were coming to re-do the stairs and carpet the closet. The first day they arrived with no carpet at all. The second day they only brought enough carpet to carpet the closet.
The installers have no idea what they are supposed to be doing. There is no communication between the office staff and the installers, and the installers even told me last time that the people in the office have no idea what's going on. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. They bill you, get paid, and then refuse to complete the job. I have been waiting 2 months since the first time they arrived to do the installation... and am stiff waiting. HOME DEPOT did a far better job on these stairs twice before, and I seriously regret my decision to use Empire Today.

My initial experience with Empire was very good. They salesman was nice, the installers were courteous and the carpet looked great when they left. The challenge I have occurred unfortunately a little over a year after the installation. We started noticing ripples (rucking) in every room only the rooms we had Empire carpet installed in. I called Empire about the issue. I was told that the one year installation warranty had expired and that it would cost $900 to have someone come out and stretch the carpet.
When I questioned the cost, they stated that they only used "power stretchers" (oddly this was not what they used when their crew installed it in the first place) and that I could have a local company do it much cheaper (which seemed like the direction they were trying to push me). Not being happy with the response I received I asked to speak to a supervisor. She stated one was not available and I would get a call back from them. That has now been over a month.

Empire called within 48 hours of this posting . They agreed to fix the flooring at their cost. The installer who replaced it said that it indeed was an installation error. There was no room left for expansion and in a basement (and any other room) that is necessary. Resulting floor looks beautiful.
Original Review: Oct. 20, 2017
I had laminate flooring installed in our basement. A month later the flooring bubbled in one spot. There is a huge air pocket in one spot on the floor. I called and they said they would send an inspector out. That inspector did come out and told us that the floor was installed incorrectly. There was not enough room left for expansion. He said our humidity level in our basement was within acceptable levels, so it was not a moisture issue. He said, “I will go back and write this up and we will replace it.” About 10 days went by, and I hadn't heard anything. I called to schedule the appointment. Customer service rep told me the report stated it was a site issue and we had to pay $900 to fix it. I said, “No, that isn't what we were told.” After a while, she agreed to alert her manager and they would call me back.
Two weeks and no call. I call today. Another customer service rep says it's a site issue and it will be approximately $900. I repeated the inspector's finding. He put me on hold to call his 'manager.' He came back and said, “If you disagree you can hire a third party person to inspect it at your cost.” I said, “No, it's been inspected.” He said, “Well yes, the report showed that it is an installation issue. However, our installation general manager overruled that.” I asked to speak to that man. He was, of course, on lunch, but the customer service rep could slash my price in half. I refused and asked for a copy of the report. He said that wasn't possible. I said that I wanted to speak to his manager. He said he was gone for the day and I could leave a message, but he may not be able to call back. I cannot believe a company I've used before won’t stand by their product. This is unacceptable.

After ordering my new carpet, and receiving the paper work, I noticed that the footage of carpeting and labor were not broken down. This was my oversight. But in doing so there was no you to see the discount for the current sale. But the price was within the range of other estimates I had received. The installers didn't arrive until 12 noon and this is for a job covering a living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms, hallway and stairs. The installers really did a good job and worked until nearly 6 pm!! This was the scheduling department's error, for not having this job first thing in the morning, not after another job. So I was held up all morning as well as all evening.
As if this wasn't bad enough, they didn't have enough carpet for the stairs!! This was a special order carpet!! So rather than wait for additional carpet, 2-3 weeks, I decided to let the installers do the stairs with the pieces that were left from the other rooms. They did a great job with this and should be commended for their efforts!!!
This is not the experience that we expect for our customers, and regret to hear that there was a delay in your installation. We'll be in touch with you shortly to make things right for you.
