The people that installed the carpet in the living room were very nice. The only thing about Empire was that they never came when they said they would. They even called me and sometimes, I waited all day and they didn’t come. But the people that put in the carpet were here on the dot when they called me. I really liked them. If I ever have carpet again, that’s the same thing I want. I love my floors because I had the best padding put down. The color matches and it looks nice. They did a good job.

I got laminate flooring that looks like burned wood for my den. The installers from Empire Today were super nice, and if I have any more flooring to put down, they are exactly who I would call.

Vinyl flooring installation - 5 times they have come out. Replaced the floor twice and now a 3rd time. Each time I have to take days off work. Soon I could have paid for my floor with lost wages from work. People on the phone are nice but lack of communication thru the company as far as I see. 2nd crew damaged the surface of my brand new stainless steel dishwasher. Called and informed 4 different people. No one has come out to even look at it. 3rd crew showed up today to tear out and reinstall floor but instead said it was too big of a job and left. Just received a call saying the 4th install crew will be out later today. Still no manager to check the damages.

Empire Today took my thousands and never did the work I paid for. THEY SCREWED UP MY ORDER 3 TIMES & AFTER THEY ripped out my carpet on stairs & hallway they took off & have not installed my floors... They it was too difficult for them to do. I thought they were flooring professionals... Don't hire them. They are incompetent & customer service is worse. I called to follow up & the salesman who was the only contact I had told me it's not his problem & not to bother him because it's his day off/on a Monday... Yeah run away all!!!

I’ve had a good experience with Empire Today. I had them install a carpet in my master bedroom and it looks good in the room. I’ve used Empire for half a dozen times already. It was easier that way as compared to looking for other companies. The installers were great and their salesman was goo. I have referred Empire to a couple of customers and they’ve bought from them.

The job done installing the sheet vinyl was done good and looked good, but after about three or four months there started to be bubbles in the vinyl as if the glue that was used didn't hold. This is not happening on the entire floor, just on a few spots and it make the room look bad. We did not call Empire to see what if anything we could do to correct or smooth out the sheet vinyl but we paid and owe too much for this to have happened so soon. I LIKED the floor, otherwise the quality and experience was good.

We were overjoyed when our beautiful new floors were installed. We needed something that would hold up to our kids and our dogs and the sales rep recommended their low maintenance laminate flooring. That was the end of the great customer service. There was a small spot, where it looked like the flooring was lifting. Smaller than a dime size in between two boards. We left that alone because it seemed so minimal until it started happening on a larger scale in our entryway. Our transition between the carpet and flooring had become detached. We called to have it fixed. They told us someone would be out to assess the issue in the entry and fix the transition. They could provide a date, but not a time, so would update us.
We had a rep show up unannounced. Frustrating, but at least they showed up. We walked around to show look over the problem areas and was informed that it looked like water damage. From where, or what I have no idea. I told them there is no way. I walked them to the small spot in the kitchen that looked the same, that happened first, and they informed me that that was a product defect, not water damage. I asked how they could differentiate, and was told, it just is. They took pictures and said they would send them in and we should hear from someone within 24 to 48 hours.
It took two weeks for us to get a callback, and that wasn't until we called them first. We called the 1800 number. We were told there were notes our case and we should have heard something already. They would update the case and we would get a callback within 24 hours. Again, that didn't happen. I called back again 3 days later, and was told there were notes that a message was left, but at another number, and was assured a call back again in 24 hours from the local Atlanta office. Another 3 days pass and we call back, I'm transferred directly to the Atlanta office where I am told, the work we need done is not covered by warranty because the installer stated there was a high moisture issue.
I asked how that is determined, especially when we were told that one thing was a product defect and the other moisture issue by simply looking at it. She said they have a tool to gauge it...that was never used. I was asked to provide a number I would be at all day so that our issue can be escalated and called back that day. That was again 4 days ago, and we haven't heard from anyone again. We are extremely disappointed in the effort we have to continuously put forth and the lack of follow through on the part of Empire Today.
We're sorry to hear about your experience, and we'll be in touch with you shortly to learn more.

A friend of mine had her home done by Empire and I liked it. My entire home has hardwood flooring except for the master bedroom so I had it done by Empire so it'd all match. The color was pretty close to what I had and it was nice. The installers did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. I'm satisfied and I'd recommend Empire.

This is a new house purchase for us so we were changing things to our taste. There’s a company here in town that we went and talked to and we didn’t like the way they treated us, so we called Empire. We had them do carpeting in three bedrooms and an office. We got their highest quality and that was the quality that we were looking at from Caro-San. When we called them initially, the sales guy came out and brought everything with him, and he explained how they worked. He was very conscientious and he made sure everything was followed up on.
Empire had their subcontractors do the installation and those guys were very nice. They did a good job cleaning up. The guy that sold me the carpet came over during the day of the installation. A quality control person who oversees installation came over that day as well. She explained who she was and what she was there for. She talked to the guys and made sure that we were all happy and everybody understood one another. They met our time frame, so they were fine. I would definitely tell others to hire them without a doubt.

I'm a repeat customer of Empire Today. I just had my kitchen done because I was very satisfied with the job they did initially with my laminates. I had trouble getting my floors installed and it seemed like it was going crazy. What had happened was because we had water damage they had just taken up half of the flooring and left the other part down so at first when the sales rep came, they could just finish that off. But because it was done long ago it had a different locking mechanism so we found out we had to have the whole floor done. So it was more money than I had expected. But then finally everything worked out. I have the vinyl that looks like tile installed and I'm satisfied with how it looks and the installation went well. I don’t have to worry about it getting wet especially being that it’s in the kitchen. When they came back and got it straightened out I was satisfied with my flooring in the kitchen and I would recommend them.

We had a salesperson come to our house for a free estimate. He told us that he was new and this was his first job. He measured our bedroom and got samples to show us, he went back upstairs to remeasure our bedroom he fumbled a lot. He tried to get a quote for us from his computer and said it wasn't working. Right that he was going to go to his car to call his boss and he would have a quote for us in 5 minutes. I looked out our window and he was gone. Wtf. So I called the company to tell our problem and the lady on the phone was shocked and documented what happened. We rescheduled for the next week and said we want someone who has been with the company for over a year but after thinking about it we are going to go with another company.
We assure you that we take matters such as this one very seriously. We'll be in touch with you shortly to learn more.

Disappointed is an understatement. My 73 year old mother and I sat down with the salesman from Empire in November in her home and clearly explained that we were looking at re-carpeting the floating stairs in her home. Keep in mind these stairs have been carpets over and over through the past 43 years my parents have lived in this home. When we questions the idea of placing a Berber style carpet on these type of stairs the salesman assured us that is would be the best type to use and that they do this all the time. I asked him specifically about the Berber because I know it does not bend and mold as easy as most other carpets. He said, "No problems. I have been doing this a long time."
We had a few other questions such as do they have installers that know how to do a float style stairs. Once again the answer was YES. Well fast forward to installation day and we have ONE person show up install who looked at the staircase and tells us “I have never done this type of stairs.” This is not a one man job which we told the salesman on day one. I called and explained to them that they needed to send out at least 2 people to do this job. The installation was rescheduled and two gentlemen showed to do installation and by the time and looks of it they were not knowledgeable either on how to get this stiff Berber carpet to bend around the stairs. It took them 12 hours (9am to 9:30pm) to complete the job.
Less than 2 weeks later we notice that the carpet is coming apart and the carpet look as though it is shrinking or pulling away in places on the stairs in areas. We made a total of 6 calls to customer services before we finally heard back from someone. Empire has sent out 2 different people to see the problem and have taken photos and stated that they see that the problem is that the wrong carpet was sold to us. However after review from whoever is making the decisions they will send out another person to look at it. We have had no show for appointments to add to the many calls and conversations that have been had.
No one wants to help fix the problem. We have asked them to simply replace the carpet with a normal low shag version that will actually bend around the stairs. The same type we have had for many years. The customer service / Sales supervisor said it’s the installers fault. The installers have come out and when they called to discuss with their supervisor about the problem. They clearly stated that the carpet is the wrong style for these types of stairs.
The supervisor's answer is ”It’s not our problem. They can purchase a new style carpet if they want”. I can’t believe that after all the problems we have they want my mother to pay more to have the problem corrected. They even asked if we had the carpets cleaned and that is why it has come apart and shrank. Are you kidding me? What a complete joke. So the bottom line is NO ONE WANTS TO HELP OR FIX THE PROBLEM BUT EVERYONE WANTS TO BLAME THE OTHER PERSON. Sad to see that they would take advantage of a customer let alone a senior citizen. I am disgusted in these people. I will never use this company again.
We're sorry to hear about your mother's experience. We've located her account, and we'll be in touch with her soon.
Thank you.

Thomas was great; very knowledgeable. I am slightly disappointed in the lack of "cushy-ness" in the padding. The installers worked themselves into a coma. I am very impressed with their work. They got to work right away and did not take a break until it was finished - 7 pm!

We had three separate jobs by Empire Today for the carpet, wood flooring and vinyl tile. The wood floor was good. It was prefinished so the edging wasn't rounded. So it was really sharp where you walked off the wood onto the carpet. They were going to put another tack strip there to build that up so it wasn't as bad, but they haven't made an appointment to come back to do it. No one has ever called so that's been a bummer.
The carpet and vinyl tile were put in at my work. We had no issues with the carpet, but we had problems with the vinyl tile coming up in spots. I called customer service already and they're going to have someone come out just to look and see. Empire Today has been fine to talk to, but they put in the wood floor and vinyl tile last December and nothing has been handled with the issues yet.

I had laminate floors installed throughout the downstairs at our home in 2013. Initially, Empire was very responsive and accommodating during the purchase and initial install. Little did I know, moving forward, Empire would be a nightmare! After the initial install (right after) I noticed that the floor would give in some places (dip)... I thought, this is odd, the entire first floor is slab/concrete. The installer told me that this was normal and it should settle. Silly me for believing this, but how was I to know... never had laminate before. 5 months into this "Newly Installed" floor, we noticed that the panels flooring started shifting and sliding around. We called Empire several times and finally got someone out more than 30 days later. They replaced the areas that were affected and off they went.
Another 8 months later, the problem showed up again and this time in several areas. After calling them several times, they said this was an "installation issue and was not covered under the installation warranty" which was 12 months. Again, SILLY ME! I believed them and carried on completely disappointed in my installers. Lo and behold I get a water leak in my kitchen (an area that had the laminate installed). This time I call Empire and request replacement flooring. "They do not sell the flooring without the install", they explain. "Ok, well send someone out because I need to replace 16 sq ft of flooring and no one carries your product." We schedule an appt... aaannddd yup you guessed it, they no longer carry that flooring but could install all new flooring downstairs at a staggering "more than I paid before". So we decided to pass on that and installed similar flooring from a local flooring company in just the affected area.
During that install we talked to these installers about what was going on with our flooring throughout our downstairs and what they had told us. The installers said that was absurd! The material was faulty. The locking mechanisms were failing allowing the flooring to slide around. So we called Empire again, and again, and again. Of course when we talked to someone and they assured us someone would call us back NO ONE EVER DID. Well ok! That's that. Never getting flooring from Empire again, right? WRONG. Well, we needed new carpet upstairs and yup you guessed it AGAIN!!! We figured we would at least get a quote from Empire. Once again, they came out and showed us their options. BUT THIS TIME, I WAS READY. During this appt I said, "Well this could work, but first I need to get a clear answer and/or fix on my current laminate".
Well this time they were going to get it right for me, I mean, they had a $10k carpet job hanging in the balance, right? WRONG!!! This back and forth calling went on for a few weeks. They finally sent an Empire inspector out on September 4th. He drafted his report, or so he said but I never heard anything. I called again in October and was told, "We will call you back from the local office." I called again in November and finally got through to the Local Operations Manager. He assured me that they would get it fixed. A third party inspector would be sent out to verify the issues. Now it's January, and no call. So I call, and the Manager admits to dropping the ball (That's a first)... he forgot. Well, Finally, 3 days later a third party inspector. As he's inspecting my flooring, I strike up a conversation. I asked him what he thought, he said, "I can't say with certainty but it looks like the flooring is faulty." I said ok, "well anything else that you can see?"
He says, "No not really, one of the big things they look for are signs of water damage in the affected areas, but you guys don't have that." Well that was a good sign for us or was it? He states, "I have 48 hrs to get this back to them and you should hear something soon." Well the wait begins. After waiting a three weeks, I call in. I talk with Angelica from the San Antonio/Austin Branch. She says, "the manager reviewed the report and it shows "WATER DAMAGE" so the flooring will not be covered." WHAT!? Water damage, NOT POSSIBLE! Angelica says, that's what the manager said but I haven't seen the report. Well ok, I need to see the report. Angelica assures me that she will have the manager call me and she will send out the report. Well that was last week and here we are on February 8, 2018. I called them Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Angelica had conveniently JUST LEFT for the day.
Today when I called, "SHE JUST LEFT FOR VACATION but your report was mailed out to you." No one else is available to take my call! STILL NO "MAILED" INSPECTION REPORT. I wish they could just tell me the truth. "We are sorry but replacing your floor would cost way too much and we feel like our bottom line is more important than your customer experience. For that reason, we will be coming up with any and every excuse to avoid your calls and not cover your replacement flooring. Thank you and we hope you can still recommend us to your friends and family in hopes that we can take their money and leave them as unhappy as you are!" Well EMPIRE, was that sooo hard?! FOR ALL OF THIS, I AM PLACING THIS LOOOONNNGG REVIEW. This Company may be too big to provide EVERY customer with QUALITY workmanship and customer service.

A very good friend of mine had Empire put her carpet down as well as my sister and they were all pleased. My sister had a little problem but they reached out and reimbursed her for the damage. So I was familiar with Empire Today and had them do quite a bit of work for me. I had laminated flooring installed in the hallway and closets. I was pleased with that so I decided to go back to them and had vinyl planks put down in the family room. Then they're supposed to be coming back on the 17th to put carpet in one bedroom. I like the durability of my flooring. I'm also pleased with the workmanship more so than anything. Empire is doing a very good job as long as they stand by their work and they seem to do that. So far, they've been very reliable and they go on extra to please their customer.
Their installation team were very nice, too. They were willing to correct anything that I was displeased with and I liked that. For instance, when they first put the vinyl flooring in, they put white flooring on my mantle. But my floor is dark so it didn't match. They said that they didn't have the molding to go with it and that they didn't carry anything that would match that. So, I had them take out the white one and replace it with what I had left over from the other flooring. But it was lighter and still not the same. I was a little displeased that they didn't have the matching molding to the floor, but I was at Menards and they had the molding that would match. So I called and told Empire that I got the molding that matched the floor and asked them to come back and put it down.

I SIGNED A CONTRACT AND GAVE A DEPOSIT TO EMPIRE on 2/5/18 with installation to take place on 2/8/18. On 2/7/18 I received a text message confirming installation for 2/8/18. That evening I received a telephone call asking if we could change the day of the installation due to the Eagles Parade. I said no because I purposely took off for the installation and I live in Northeast Philadelphia, nowhere near the driving issues that might exist. They were okay with that. Today I received a call from Empire Today telling me that they did not have the carpet I purchased in stock and therefore would not be able to deliver on 2/8/18. I let them know I did not believe them and canceled my order with them asking them to return my deposit. Just as I am bound by contracts that I sign, Empire should be bound by their contract and signature and not be able to make up a lame excuses for breaking the contract.
The actual contract was signed on company's salesman's IPAD, but attached is a Change of Order Form which I've signed because I had changed the color of carpeting in my bedroom. As you can see, installation is February 8... I've now lost a paid day from work for nothing. Are they going to be responsible to reimburse me for that? I want them held accountable.

My wife, son and I recently purchased A new house. The flooring in the house was in need of replacement so we hopped online and quickly found Empire Today. I was really excited to see that in some cases they were able to install the floors next day. This was a plus for us because we only had two weeks till we had to move in. So I ended up having to take off work to meet with the Empire Today to get an estimate and pick out the flooring. Unfortunately they never showed up or called to let me know they were not coming. I call them twice and they could not get a hold of the employee that was supposed to be coming.
My wife then called after and they said they were unable to come that day. This was very aggravating and upset us. Why are we calling? Can’t you at least call us? Anyway we waited at this property two hours for no reason. Will never use or recommend to anyone. I would go find someone else that’s more professional than this. Lo and behold no one called me until 4 pm to tell me that the truck broke down and that I would need to reschedule. I called in to complain. No one could find a supervisor or manager. They left me on hold for twenty minutes and then left me on hold another fifteen minutes. By this time I am at my wit's end. So since my patience was wearing thin I politely cancelled and asked for a refund because I believe that this is a bad omen so instead of continuing with an unprofessional company I have decided to give my business to someone locally and reliable.
I will not do business again with this company. Oh by the way they offered me a $50.00 discount I explained that the $50.00 would not cover part of my day if I had gone to work. The salesman was nice. We agreed to have our living room carpeted. When the installers arrived. They were in a beat up, unmarked van, parked illegally on the street, no identification or uniforms at all. And proceeded to track snow, and salt into the house with each trip through the door. Including onto the new carpet after they installed it. This is only just the start. The installer Tech wanted to take my credit card out to his van in order to complete the payment over the phone. For anyone who's ever been a victim of credit card fraud this is a huge no no. I then had to hear him struggle to pronounce basic English words to the person on the other end of the phone to correctly pay the balance on my carpet order.
The two installers proceeded to converse with each other during the entire installation in a foreign language as to keep me in the dark about the proceedings of the installation. Come to find out the carpet they laid down was too short on one side leaving an exposed edge by the baseboards. I recorded with video them struggling and struggling to force the carpet to fit. They use roofing nails and requested I turn the heat in the house up to maximum to try and cheat the carpet into fitting at the expense of the premium pad underneath it.
During the course of the installation the installer also ripped a quarter-size section of the carpet by the wall which he proceeded to try and cover up using spray adhesive. Little did either of them know I have all of this recorded on video. I am severely disappointed with the installation service. I am left with a carpet that does not fit on one edge and also a carpet with a rip in it that stands out. The installers were dishonest. They're all so bad at their job. Instead of getting a carpet that they forced it to stretch which it did not do. In their struggles to make it fit they ripped the carpet and attempted to cover it up with spray adhesive. All the while talking to each other in a way as to hide the fact that the job was not proceeding well.
The whole experience was videotaped by me. I have evidence that these installers did a horrible job in my living room and I plan to contact Empire Today seeking a refund for the horrible workmanship even worse customer service and lack of respect to even wear booties on my new carpet. The poor level of service I received is unacceptable. I paid good money and these installers left me with a rip in my carpet that was brand new and carpet that does not even fit the room on one edge. Then they proceeded to walk all over it tracking snow and salt in the house. The experience was embarrassing inexcusable and I am going to seek refund. The icing on the cake was that they also left two garbage carpet scraps from the vents they had to cut out on my front yard.
We've read your post, and we regret to hear that your installation did not meet your expectations. We'll be in touch with you shortly to address your concerns.

We have two friends that had work done by Empire so we called and asked them for a proposal. Their cost was slightly less than the other companies, and the woman that came out was very knowledgeable. She talked about what we could do and it was a very pleasant experience. Then the people that came to do the carpet installation showed up on time. There was no damage done to anything and they cleaned up very well after they were finished, so we were extremely pleased. We like the color and texture of the carpet. It was a pleasurable experience, and Empire met and exceeded out expectations.

From Empire Today, I got a carpet in the wildlife style installed in the living room and parlor room. We have been looking around for awhile, and aside from Empire Today's reputation, this particular carpet was on sale. It had a very good price and quality. I like it very much that's what we got valued for money. We're very happy with it and we love the whole thing. Also, the installers were absolutely amazing. What a team. We watched the whole installation and it was professional. They cleaned up everything themselves as well. I would recommend them. We would have Empire again. They’re very prompt and I like the honesty factor the most. They do exactly what they say they’re going to do.

I got some carpet from Empire Today to install at our bedroom. There’s only a little pressure at the beginning. But for the most part from beginning to end it’s quick and easy. I like the color and the price of the carpet. I went by the sales rep as far as the under part of the carpets -- the padding which she seem to be knowledgeable about. When you’re getting padding you should get the thickest padding you can possibly get because the padding will last longer than the carpet – will give out before the carpet will and the carpet won’t be as good as it used to. The installers came on time. They were in and out quick and they did a nice cleanup.

I had seen the work that Empire Today did for my mother a few months ago. So, I also got them to install carpet on the stairways, hallways, floor of dining area and living room of my home. I had a great experience when I was selecting the flooring from Empire and the sales person really worked with me. Then the guys who did the installation were all about business. They were friendly but they did their work. If I ask them to do something, they did it. Everything worked out fine. They knew what they were doing and they did an excellent job. Also, the Empire carpet has good quality. I had to get used to the carpet making my legs hurt because it’s so thick and soft but that’s what I like about it.

Empire Today used to be good because I use them all the time. I had bought a couple of homes and they put in the carpets, and I was always satisfied with them. But now they’re not the same and it seems they got a little bit of a problem. I had some carpeting put in the hallways of an apartment building I own and it took them forever. One day they said they had to comeback because they couldn’t roll the carpet out as it was going to rain, so they came the next day. When they did both hallways, they were short so that didn’t help. They had to come back and end it. It pushed two days there except they were coming back the next day and then didn’t come back in. It was really sad the way they did it. So, it took them between four to five days before they got to each two out of two hallways to get them in. I called Empire and complained about it but it’s like they didn’t care. They have a good product but with that experience, I wouldn't deal with them anymore. They need to check out some of the people they got working. I hope it gets better and maybe they’d call me with something to get me to comeback.

The recommendation that I got from my dad was to go with Empire because they had the warranty anyway. I got a couple of quotes from my contractors and I decided to go with Empire. It ended up being cheaper overall. They came in and did the window treatments for one room. They put heavyweight custom blinds and that part ended up looking pretty nice. The persons who installed them were professional and got it done in around two hours. It was as needed. Empire also came to put in the butterscotch flooring but I ended up getting a refund for it. The subflooring wasn't as good as they needed it to be and I wasn't going to spend more money to fix up the joints for that. Empire was willing to void the warranty to have them just come over and and do the flooring anyways. We had to figure out their policy and what I needed to do to get my flooring done, but everything has worked out fine.

Empire Today did my neighbor's house and so I went on their recommendation. I love that the vinyl tile is not cold on the feet compared to ceramic tile. I could walk on it barefoot perfectly fine. However, I'm having problems with it coming up with spots. I’ve reported it to Empire Today but they need to come back out to fix the problem which is irritating. They scheduled to get me a work ticket and I’m waiting for them to call me back to schedule a day they would come out. It has been about a week waiting for it.
Then we’ve noticed some little gouges in the hardwood from the install that we didn’t notice right away. I’m having a hard time getting Empire Today to come out and inspect it for me, and maybe fix it. So I’m really not impressed right now. A day before yesterday I talked to someone about the wood and she said that looking at the photos that the installer took, she didn’t see any damage and that they didn’t ‘cause the damage. She was going to send me copies of the photos but I have yet to see them too. I’m not telling them to replace my floors, just come look and see if there’s something we can do to make it look a little better in that spot. Other than that, the install guys were great and very courteous for everything. The salespeople were fantastic, and I do love the look of the products. It’s just the after effect when I want them to come back out to look at them that's like pulling teeth.

Empire Today seems convenient. We were going to do it ourselves but it wasn't going to be practical. We’re very happy with Empire's product. The salesman said it would be a couple of days and it ran over a week. Although the time ran over, the installers were great. The only complaint we had was that we were supposed to get a quote on carpeting the basement stairs and after we got it, we never heard anything back about it. We told them to go ahead with it. We’ve even picked out a color. It has not been installed or paid for and we’re still waiting. We would probably wind up going with somebody else because we still want to have it done, which is sort of throwing it up in the air.

Empire gave me a good price to do the installation fast. It fit in the budget and the timeframe perfectly, and the installation was a very good job. There are no uneven lines or gouges. One thing that was a little bit annoying was that they gave me a very high quote at first, and then when they called me later, I told them what my budget was and they did it. If they gave the price that they could give at first, instead of trying to sell me at the highest they could, it would have been done a week faster. A couple of days after installation, I noticed an area in my 2nd bedroom (approx. 4 x 5 sq ft) where the new hardwood flooring wasn't attached to the sub-flooring. Upon observing this, I called Empire to inform them of the problem. I was told that I would be contacted to schedule a date for someone to come out to assess the problem.
After several days go by without hearing from Empire, I give them a call. The first lady I spoke with informed me that the next available date would be Thursday, Feb. 1 (today). A couple of hours later, I received a call from a second lady who told me someone could come out that afternoon. Of course, I agreed to that. The rep showed up that day to assess the situation. He took some notes, told what materials would be needed, and informed me that someone would be contacting me to schedule a repair date.
After waiting several days, I again called Empire yesterday and was told that I was scheduled for the next day (today) between 12 and 4. I asked the lady why no one called me to inform me of this. At any rate, I get a call today asking if an installer had contacted me to let me know that they were on their way. After telling her I hadn't, she placed a call to the installer. Ten or fifteen minutes later, the installer calls me and tells me that he wouldn't be here until around 6. But what really astounded me was him telling me that he would only be "taking pictures and assessing the situation." I immediately told him that someone had already assessed the problem. So that's where we are... I'm awaiting the arrival of the installer to do a 2nd assessment. I must say this has been a horrible experience. I will never, ever do business with Empire again. Nor will I recommend that others do business with them.

I have two rooms where I had Empire today install carpet. We went to two other local stores, but I went with them when we saw that the customer service did not have to ask the turn-around is going to be. So, we had the guys come and we weren't prepared and we lost that day and then rescheduled for another week and a half, and that was not good. Nevertheless, the flooring is good and I like its durability.
The price points are also good. Our local rep was good too. There was just that thing with the baseboards which should not have happened. So that was something that did not fit well with us and I don't know if I would recommend her again. Although, she might be the only person on the east end where we live as a rep. If we would have known about the install to come to the baseboards, we would have had it then installed pretty quick. There are a lot of people looking to do stuff and it’s great that they have the flexibility to do it that fast. But, other than that, everything else went very well. Give these guys a call.

We had used Empire Today in the past and we called them again to install a blue carpet in our home's basement. The pricing was okay but it was terrible customer service. This time, we had issues with the installation as they had some reasons why they were unable to install the carpeting and it was on the third time that they came when they finally installed it. It took 6 months or so because the stair didn’t work every time before they would do the installation. And then, the person who we purchased the carpet from said that the base molding shouldn’t be down but then somebody who came to install said that the base molding should be down. So, the installer called his supervisor and that’s what the supervisor said that needs to be done. There was a legit different opinion between two. I reached out once to Empire and we didn’t get a response. All in all, the carpet looks durable but the experience wasn’t so great.

I really try my best to be patient and give companies the opportunity to resolve the issue prior to leaving a review. But after 14 month of the runaround with Empire, my patience has run very thin. I paid over $9000 to get the flooring in my home done before the Holiday season 2016. I was extremely hesitant because of the reviews but not following my first mind, I schedule a consultation. The salesman was great and reassured me concerns. Assured me that I was getting a beautiful, sturdy product. The first installation for ceramic flooring in my bathrooms was cancelled due to not having installers available for the job. Red flag #1! Of course things happen so I was a tad bit aggravated but not overly concerned.
The following week, installers came out and completed the ceramics that literally took about 12 hours. Next would be the laminate flooring, which was a complete disaster. The installer came and removed all the carpet in my living, dining, kitchen area, a little under 700 sq ft. He did a moisture test that originally failed. He stated that it could be from past shampooing of the carpet and to give it a few days to dry out. He returned and stated that the floors passed the moisture test yet the floors would have to be leveled. At this point, I become very concerned. I asked him the cost and he stated that he would have to call and get a quote. He got a quote to level the area which was $1664 that had to be paid to order supplies. I paid $1664 and the floors were scheduled to be leveled 10/28/2016 since we would be out of town 10/29 - 10/31 giving enough time to dry prior to the laminate being installed.
So 10/28/2016 when I didn't get the installation reminder, I called empire who basically called me a liar that I did not have an appointment for that day and they had no one to level the floors. At this point, I snapped and still they did not care. They told me that if the installer made the mistake with scheduling, the installer had to fix the mistake. I was livid. The installer did find another installer available and sent him out to level the floors. He explained that there is no need to level the entire area, just to spots that needed leveling and wondered why he was loaded with so much material (concrete).
Upon leveling the floors, approximately 9 spots, the installer left with the extra product that was paid for. I reach out to empire with concerns about the $1664 that I paid and a credit for the labor & product since my floors were not leveled. They asked me to provide a video so that they can get a visual and estimate the cost. I did speak with Jessica ** who tried to assist me with getting this resolved. I sent her the video and it was sent to the installation manager to review. They ended up crediting me $550 which was not reasonable after they withheld the money until I took down my original review.
To this day, I have not been contacted by the installation manager, Joe ** to provided me with an update, explanation, resolution, nothing. My laminate floors were finally installed and I don't know yet if I'm totally satisfied. I feel that there are some spots that are very cushioned, bouncy, soft and I don't know if it is because the floors were not entirely leveled. I expressed my concerns and was told an inspector would come out and do a final inspection. That never happened. They just never show up and don't have the decency to even call and cancel.
I feel like dealing with Empire is not worth the aggravation and I would definitely not recommend them nor do business with them again. The customer service reps are not useful since they are based out of Texas. So they always had to place me on hold and reach out to the Orlando office who were never available. Fast forward to January 2018, I noticed that there was some damage to two areas in my home. I immediately contacted Empire and was told that my lifetime warranty has expired by 2 months.
Dee out of the Orlando office who was awesome by the way, advised me to send pictures of the damage, which I did. I was originally told that it looked like it may have been a manufacturer defect and that they would send out someone to repair. They would send the damaged pieces back to the manufacturer and John would be out to see exactly how much product was needed to repair the floor. John finally came out after 8pm, in the dark to inspect the floor and basically said that it was moisture damage and half of my living area and the entire kitchen needed to be replaced. Moisture from what I asked? I proceeded to show him what I used to clean the floor which requires no water. I do not have any kids, I did have not had any spills, or leaks.
He went so far as to say "maybe my dog peed." Are you kidding me. My dog is 7lbs and he does not pee in the house. I was furious! John left and I was contacted by Bill to come out and do an inspection as well. Bill did not show up on the first scheduled appointment yet on the 2nd appointment, 1/9/2018, he arrived late afternoon. He inspected the floor, took pictures and stated that he would contact me within 10 business days. To date I have not heard from Bill. I have left him voice messages as well as sent him an email detailing my frustrations. Still no response from anyone at Empire.
I honestly feel as if I was sold faulty cheap material. I should not be stuck with damaged floors at no fault of my own. I have been kind, respectful and patient dealing with Empire's unprofessionalism. All I want is to get what I paid for, and be happy with the investment to my home. If Empire cannot provide these things, my only other alternative is to seek legal assistance which will be worth every cent. Please give your hard earned money to a smaller, more organized company that values your business. I understand that some reviews you have to take with a grain of salt, but I would advise you to take heed.
This is not the experience that we wish on our customers, and we're sorry to hear that this was your experience. We'll be in touch with you shortly to learn more.

Left me with the financing paperwork for my records. Fast forward. The flooring is installed and a month later we get a bill through a financer I've never heard of in my life and it's 100.00 over what I was quoted. I call Empire several times, talk to several people and they tell me that I simply signed for it. WHICH I DID NOT!! This goes on for a few weeks. I requested a document showing that I signed for it and there was no signature present. They tell me that the first loan I was applying for was denied and the secondary was approved after he had left my house.
I asked if I wasn't approved for the first option and I supposedly signed the second, why did he check the financing off (that I thought I was getting) on the slip and give it to me? I have a witness and she never heard him bring up yet secondary financing either And heard what I was signing for. We went through a lawyer and he said they have a document showing I signed (which they couldn't provide to me earlier, which again wasn't signed). And that it's costly to take them to court to prove they forged my signature electronically. THERE WAS NO COMMUNICATION ON THE PRICE!!! A year later and I'm still paying over double what I was quoted. And to top it off they made it seem like I was dumb and that it was my fault!!

Empire Today did our living room and hallways at our other house so we knew that they were good. We had estimates from two other places but Empire Today's cost and quality were the best. The two places that we called had the same carpet and was $100 cheaper but they couldn't guarantee when they could come to do it. It was also a discount outlet so I wasn't too sure if I wanted to trust them. So, we called and hired Empire Today to install carpet in the family room when we moved into this house. It's reasonably priced. Plus, I really like the color of the carpet and that it cleans nicely with the vacuum.
We were worried that we weren't going to get it in time for the holidays but we had them before Christmas and they installed it so quickly. The two young men that came did a very good job and were very timely and efficient. They had the old out and had the new one in in just over an hour. It comes up to where we've got hardwood so they had to roll the edge under and had to cut it in an angle because it doesn’t go straight across the room.

Empire was the least expensive compared to other brands when I looked online. There were some others that were close or a little bit less but they didn’t have as good reviews as Empire. The first time I used Empire was a few years ago when I had the carpet removed and replaced from three of the bedrooms. They did very well that time.
But it was very odd during this second time that they scheduled an appointment twice and I sat home all day but they never showed up. They said that the product wasn’t in stock and I said that it was totally fine but they still shouldn’t leave somebody waiting all day and one of them should have called. Both my home phone and my cell phone would clearly say if I have a missed call and they could have left a voice mail. Of course, twice they said that they called me and I felt a little like they thought that I was really that stupid. Yet the fact that they didn’t show up really hurts overall and I would have been much more upset if I didn't work from home and had taken a day off or worked my day-off to be around that then got stuck at home.
Still, the flooring met my expectations. I had a wood flooring in bedrooms and laminate flooring in the closet. Now, I have no more carpet in my house to vacuum. The flooring also looks so much better than a carpet. It is real easy to clean and not an issue. The other day, someone was over and he spilled a little bit of his drink. If it was carpet, it would have been stained. But with wood, just a damp paper towel and it was all clean. The upkeep is something to be done every other day and takes me 5 minutes. I use a little sweeper on mostly the walking area from the garage and it takes me less than two minutes. Overall, it was a good experience and I would tell others to reconfirm the installation three or four times.
We appreciate your feedback. Thank you for sharing!

Empire was advertising a 75% off sale with many sales ads running on television. Salesman comes for the free quote. Selling Shaw flooring. Price quote was on the high end but I felt the longevity of the company and promise of smooth installation and speedy service was worth it. Salesman and the television ads described the uniformed installation team able to move the furniture, do the job, put furniture back all in one day. I gave the deposit and scheduled for a Friday installation. My only reservation at the time was that the salesman could not tell me the cost of the materials separated from the installation. The 75% off was only on the materials. So I could not judge the savings on the materials.
The day of the installation only one installer was sent. The young man was not in uniform and said he a was sent by himself to do the job including moving furniture. They sent nothing for him to complete the trim or step. After many calls to customer service the installation manager came with the right color quarter round but not the step or correct finishing between kitchen and laminate. Manager assured me that he will make it right and will finish the job on Tuesday. He explained to the installer how to finish the job.
On Tuesday 2 men arrive one acting as interpreter for the man doing the work. They arrive at 3:00. They still do not have the right materials to finish. The same material was sent again. They feel they can complete the step and begin work. That could not be done either because the cement was not even. I called customer service several times. They could only pass the message along to the manager. He could not be found. Now the job is still not finished and they are supposed to return tomorrow. I received a call from an installation manager saying they will smooth out the cement tomorrow but the trim may be Friday! I will report more tomorrow.

We're disappointed to hear that your carpet is no meeting your expectations, and understand that we have a repair set for you on 2/12/18. We'll continue to follow up until a solution is reached.

Empire cancelled the job as soon as they walked in after I prepared the room for changing the rug. They claimed the sofa was too big and I would have to hire movers to move it out, and then, come back after they installed it! They said the contract allows them to cancel anytime and we have no recourse. The new company laughed and said, it is easy to move the sofa to another corner, and move it back to where the work is completed. DUH! They are horrible, never hire them!!

I am writing because this has really bothered me. We had carpet installed and also tile installed Nov. 15, 2017. The man that measured the carpet measured way wrong. We have a lot of extra carpet that we had to pay for. My main complaint is that they are supposed to be professional installers but the ones that installed the tile measured wrong and filled in his mistakes by using caulk. It is very noticeable and I am very dissatisfied with the job they did. I did call and complain and they gave me back less than $100.
Also the ones that installed the tile got glue on my new carpet which I still have not gotten out. They seemed to be in a hurry because one of them had to be somewhere by a certain time. I’m still finding excess glue on the tile. We have had Empire do other carpet installation in our home and that turned out ok. I feel their standards have really fallen. We have 2 other bathrooms to be done and we will defiantly have someone else do it. I also have a friend that owns a restaurant that was going to use Empire but I’m sure if I told them about this they would change their mind.
This is not how we expect our installations to go, and we're sorry to hear that this was your experience. We'll be in touch with you shortly to learn more, and make things right for you.
Thank you.

I called the 800 number and scheduled an appointment for Monday 1-29-2018, between 5:00pm - 7:00pm. The Rep called me to confirm our appointment at 3:30 pm. I called the Rep at 5:30 to see if he had an idea of what time he would be here. He stated he'd be here at 6:30pm. By 7:30pm I did not hear from him and called to find out where he was. The Rep told me that he was running late from his previous appointment, and said he wouldn't be here until after 8:30 pm. I told him that would be too late, and the Rep asked if I'd like to reschedule my appointment. I said, "Yes, I'd like to schedule it for the next morning." After a few minutes I received a call from Empire to reschedule. I told them I'd like to schedule for the next morning. I was told that they are booked up until Friday. Totally unacceptable. I drove 30 minutes to meet the Empire Rep for a scheduled appointment between 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
I see that Empire Flooring is doing so well, as to first; blow me off on a scheduled appointment and then not schedule another appointment for 5 days. I have all of the furniture moved out of the room and existing carpet & padding removed. I took a day off to clear the room, then wait for over 2 hours for an appointment that never happened, now have to wait 5 more days for an estimate, then another day or two for an installation. This is totally unacceptable. I will not do business with Empire, and have since called another "in home" company to do the work. I suggest that if anyone needs an "in home" consultation look at your alternatives and don't rely on Empire to blow you off, then ignore you.

I would recommend Empire Today to people and tell them they did a good job for me. I tried ABC Carpet, but their cost was over two times as much. From Empire Today, we got a rug called the Eden Rug. It's in a hall way in New York City in a building which we own and rent two apartments. I like the color and the rug really pepped up the whole hallway. Floorings are forgotten spaces and they’re a void between point A and point B, but the rug is a pleasure to walk through. The Empire Today sales person was extremely nice, too. She came to the site.

Empire Today did a nice job in installing carpet and laminate flooring in the downstairs hallway and the entire upstairs. They brought enough samples with them so we had something to compare with, and the sales person we had seemed knowledgeable about the product. The quality of the presentation of the young lady, the samples they brought, and what they showed us that they could do made a big difference to see it at home. We were able to compare it with what we already had. We have pets and we were looking for something easy to keep clean. They did the carpet in six hours and then the next day, the laminate took about 10 hours. They showed up when they said they were going to show up. They did what they had to do, put everything back, and got going.

I have flooring laminate installed by Empire Today in all of my bedrooms and the bathroom. I also had checked the Flooring Liquidators and Empire Today was a little more in line in terms of cost. They also brought large samples out to my house, instead of a little five by five chips. I like its quality and durability in holding up because I have four dogs. I, however, had difficulty when the estimator came out and did the estimate. My whole bathroom was included in that estimate and somehow between his drawing and what they drew up for the gentlemen to come out, they left out my whole bathroom. So, it took me a couple of weeks or two at least to get them to get back to me about doing the other bathroom that was supposed to be done. I was not happy about them not getting back to me in a timely manner after I had paid for everything else. Nevertheless, I have already sent someone their direction and I would tell people about them.

I got Empire Today install carpets in my living room, the dining, and the hall and I am perfectly satisfied with them. Empire was just what I wanted. I saw the carpet and I like the color. Beatrice, their rep helped me pick a good carpet and she explained it to me, and everything she told me was right. I sent my first note off this morning, but I’m going to call a certain company and ask them if I have sent my money to the wrong place and if I can get somebody to take me to the bank. I also told Empire that I won't get my social security check until the third and they gave me until the fourth. So, I want that money to get to them. I don’t want them to think that I’m messing with them from the beginning. Overall, my Empire Today experience was wonderful. The people that come here love my carpet so I told them to call Empire.

My house got flooded because of the hurricane so I had to replace the floor. When I called Empire Today, I had the salesman came out to my house and he showed me some samples. And that’s where I picked from. But I had a lot of problem with Empire Today trying to get different stuff done. They kept taking me through changes. I don’t live in that house and I stay 30 miles out. So I drive over there when they say they were coming, but they didn't come. They didn't even call to tell me they were not coming. I had ceramic tiles installed in both bathrooms, carpet in three bedrooms, and then laminate in the kitchen, dining area and the rest of the house.
The installers came out about five times, and they kept saying Empire didn’t get them the right material. So when the guy came out to install the laminate flooring, he had to come back twice because he didn’t have the right type of quarter round down. They gave him the quarter round that you put at the door. They told me it’d be a couple of days before they would get those. And then they called me and said that the truck in Dallas has broke down.
After a week, they finally got out there and finished the floor. It was crazy. I went through all these stuff with the people. They also messed up on the ceramic tiles in my front bathroom. The only people I didn’t have a problem with was the carpet people. I've told my neighbors that Empire made floors but after they've seen what I was going through, they became hesitant. When I called my salesman, he told me he will talk to his boss. But I'm not worries about the trim on the floor in my bathroom. I got all the stuff done and I'm getting ready to move in my house.

I had vinyl flooring installed by Empire Today in the whole house except for the bathrooms and the entrance hall, and I'm very happy. The salesman was very good. I asked him for copies of all the things I signed, and he sent me digital copies. Because there’s concrete underneath the floor, I asked the installers to put a layer of plastic underneath to keep the moisture from turning to mold. They did the installation in a timely fashion. It's cold when I walk barefoot on the flooring, and I miss my carpeting for that because I walk barefoot on my house all that time. But it looks nice and nothing has penetrated into it. The cost was probably more than I anticipated spending, but it has met my expectations in terms of quality.

In the past two months I’ve done three of four cargo shops with Empire Today. I’m a contractor and I use them a lot. I have no complaints with Empire other than one job that I actually referred out. I had my sales, got it to come out and everything else and had a Luna installer take care of the works and the work was the absolute worst job I’ve ever seen in my life, to the point where I was helping my customer figure it out. The bottom line he doesn’t ever want to use Empire again.
And in all my contracts now they say, “No Luna installers or the job will be cancelled.” It is that bad. He had a half inch gap between the base and the carpet line, tack strip was out almost three inches from the base with nothing holding it back up. It looked like a child went out there and did it. It was so horrible. It was nobody’s hand other than the installers that they sent. That process went on for probably three months him waiting to get carpet and get everything re-done and nobody went out to take care of it. I had to go out and take pictures and send it to somebody in the office to try to help this process roll.
But other than that incident I’ve got no problems. With the exception of that one job, I would definitely refer Empire Today all the way across the board with the side note stating that no Luna Installers are to step foot on my job. I’ve been using Empire now for almost four years now and I have done probably every bit of around 200 jobs with them and out of that we’ve had a couple of little minor things, nothing that couldn’t be resolved.
They’ve always been able to come back out at a timely fashion taken care of it. One I had a problem with a fee and they came out, no questions asked and took care of it and it was a done deal. Another one there was a couple of vents that I need to be cut in they come out, no questions asked, took care of it, and easy breezy done deal. I could not ask for a better salesman than Daniel.
Like I have been through prior to her, I had two other salesman and the one I was not happy with in the slightest which was on the very first job I can say almost four years ago and then we got it worked out. Then he left, referred me to somebody else. I didn’t like that guy either and then got me linked up with Daniel. We get along great. She keeps her promises. She’s never missed or been late to an appointment. She is on her game when it comes to everything that I need. Right down to that problem I was telling I was talking about she was with me looking at the job. She was involved in getting a hold of corporate to let them know the problem. She was right by my side the entire time trying to get him rectified.

Empire's price was comparable to Lowe’s and Home Depot. The sales guy/estimator who came over was really knowledgeable. The installation experience was good except they forgot the transition. It was carpet bedrooms to hardwood floor in the hallway. It was frustrating when I had to call a few times and no one ever called me back. It took almost two months for someone to finally call me back and that person was calling to get final payment. It wasn’t even the schedule of finishing it, and I ended up going to Home Depot and buying them and having someone install them. I had to turn in my receipt to the girl who called and she credited that off the total. Empire handled the situation to my satisfaction in the end, but make sure when they come to install, go through the installer first to make sure everything is covered.

I decided to go with Empire Flooring. It was recommended to me by a friend. I went online and set up an appointment for estimate. The representative came out. Gave me an estimate. I put the down payment down. They returned on January 3rd to install my engineered hardwood floors. As the installation started I asked question about the trim. I was told that is how it is supposed to be installed. So when installation was completed I walked around for the final walk-through and voice my concerns about the trim. How was installed. Where was installed. I was told that it was supposed to be like that.
The trim in my bathroom was placed over my heating vent and I was told that it was supposed to be like that and I could not put my new heat vent on there, trim in front of bathtub, trim around bathroom cabinet, gapping at the door and on all the ends of the trim is crooked. I called and explained the situation and an appointment was set for the next week. Another installer came out looked at the trim and also removed some trim to see the size of the gap between the quarter trim and wall baseboard. He was supposed to contact customer service and set appointment to remove baseboard and move quarter trim back.
I then was called on that Saturday by customer service to cancel my next appointment on the following Monday. That they were cancelling my appointment for Monday and that he would talk to the inspector. Well I never heard from them so I called today January 27th and talk with another customer rep and they made me appointment for February 15th for the inspector to come out. I love my flooring. I've never been so disappointed. They did offer to re-schedule and give us 50.00 off our estimate. This whole experience has been very disappointing. What happened to good customer service?
Updated on [02/16/2018]: After my first review the problems continued. We waited for quarter round trim for over a week. We were told 3 different stories as to why they couldn’t complete the order. The last conversation we were told we would receive a free upgrade to a wall border for making us wait. When they finally arrived they brought the quaternary round trim we were to receive that they said they didn’t have all week! We should have received the wall border as promised! Again another excuse. We are still waiting to be compensated for 3 no show/no call installations.

I had Empire Today install carpets in my bedrooms and laminates in the den. They were very reasonable. I love my den because the laminates match perfectly with the paneling. When my friends came in, they loved my den too. Of course, the carpet is fine too since I’m just here by myself. I should have gotten a little bit darker carpet though because it’s so light that every footprint shows when you walk. But when my daughter came here last weekend and she saw it, she liked it. So, if she liked it, it’s okay. Our experience with Empire Today has been great. They have people who come out and show you the products so you don’t have the struggle of going around and looking for floorings.

Empire Today has a good reputation. I didn’t want any problems and I knew they could more likely get the job done. I had carpet but my grandchildren walk and they would spill a lot of stuff. The carpet was also over 10 years old so I just decided that wood would be better for my foyer and my TV room to keep clean than the carpet. When Empire said they were going to have it done, they did and they were on time. They sent out people who know what they were doing. The workers were friendly and they did a good job, even on cleaning up. I like the way the wooden floors look. They match the decor of my house. My grandkids are pretty rough plus it’s winter and the weather’s bad. My grandkids don’t always take their shoes off or wipe their feet and the floor is holding up well so far.

Be prepared to read, this going to be a lot... 1/15/18 - Empire Salesman comes to house. He prepares an estimate for me for flooring three bedrooms with laminate and one room with carpeting. Roughly $6100.00. Prior to this estimate, Empire had performed some work for me and did a good job. Hardly perfect though. The salesman that prepared the estimate walked the house and looked over the prior installation. There are a few thresholds/transitions that came loose (not a big deal) and he agreed that if we purchased from him on this project, the installers that would come this time would fix it while they were there. I thought this sounded pretty good, so I told him to go ahead and I proceeded to put down $2,000.00.
1/18/18 - Carpet Installers arrive. They sent a 2 man crew to do my living room. These two guys were absolutely amazing. They flew through the job and did a fantastic job. I was very impressed with their professionalism, speed, and quality. After seeing this, I was excited for tomorrow when the hardwood installers came. My opinion was that if the hardwood guys were half as good as the carpet guys, they would be done in a day and we could go into the weekend with new floors and no worries.
1/19/18 - Hardwood guys come. The day started off not on the best terms. They showed up about two hours later than scheduled, but they were adamant that they would be able to complete everything in a day and that I shouldn't worry. The man seemed genuine and like he had a good grasp on everything, so I went with it. I proceeded to head out to work and assumed I would come home to newly floored home. Around 5PM, my wife called and informed me that they had been short on material and that they said that they would come back in the morning, 1/20/18. Not exactly what I had in mind for a Saturday morning, but I thought, ah...whatever. No big deal.
1/20/18 - NOBODY SHOWS UP - NO CALL - NOTHING. 1/21/18 - NOBODY SHOWS UP - NO CALL - NOTHING. 1/22/18 - I call the Pittsburgh, PA installation center and ask what's going on. The guy I got on the phone seemed to be genuinely concerned and apologetic. He said that they did not have the flooring in stock, but would order it immediately. He said that he most likely would get the flooring in the next day (1/23/18), but could not guarantee that someone could do it that day, so he scheduled us to be installed on 1/24/18. Keep reading, it gets better...
1/23/18 - RECEIVE EMAIL FROM EMPIRE CONFIRMING APPOINTMENT FOR 1/24/18. Sounds good, right? 1/24/18 - Wife calls off work to be home for installers. 8am, no call. 10am, no call. 12pm, no call. 2pm, no call. 4pm - WE GET A CALL!!! YAY. Sounds good, right? NOPE...not whatsoever!!! This guy calls and says that he is over two hours away from our house, and he doesn't "FEEL" like making the drive after working "ALL DAY". My response was of extreme displeasure and that we have now missed a day of work and that we cannot afford to continue to do that. His response... "Well, I can come at 6:30AM on 1/25/18 and then you won't have to miss work. Pissed off, unhappy, and disgusted... I actually went along with it. I wasn't giving in, I just wanted the damn floor done.
1/25/18... 6:30AM... Doorbell rings. The guy shows up. They only sent one person. I thought this was odd given the fact that a closet had to have all of the carpet torn out and that hardwood needed to be put down. I didn't want to complain or ** because I didn't want the guy to leave. So, I zipped my lips and let him go to work. 6:35AM... He politely comes downstairs to tell me he is finished. I scratch my head and go upstairs to check his work. He installed a transition piece from the bedroom into the closet, but didn't touch the inside of the closet.
He was a nice man, but of Hispanic descent with very, very broken English and his ability to communicate effectively with us was just not possible. I try to ask him why he isn't doing what he came to do, and all he did was continuously point to his phone. I don't know what in the hell he was trying to tell me, so I just looked at him with a blank stare. I attempted to call the Pittsburgh installation office (a guy named Jimmy). He doesn't answer. I leave him a message. I then called the number back, and got another guy named Ryan. EXTREMELY RUDE!!! This guy was a first class **. He offered me nothing but a attitude. After wasting ten minutes of my life listening to this guy offer me no assistance whatsoever, I then called my salesman.
As it seems to be the trend at Empire, he didn't answer the phone. I then took it upon myself to call him 17 times in a row until he answered the phone. I asked him what the deal was (I actually used some choice language that I'm sure I'm not able to share on here)? He said he was sorry and that he would call the Pittsburgh office. If he was unsuccessful at reaching them, he would be there around 9:00AM and would contact me at that point. Disgusted once again, I finished the call with no understanding or idea of what would happen next.
Approximately at 12PM, the installation manager (Jimmy) called my wife. He intentionally (in my opinion) did not contact me. He told my wife that we would be the FIRST stop of the day on 1/26/18. The reason I believe this wasn't run through myself is because I think everyone there was aware of my feelings on the situation and that I would've told him that tomorrow would be COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.
When she made me aware of this, I did exactly what I assume you and the people at Empire knew I would do. I called... I called... I called. I called the customer service line EIGHT times between 12:15PM and 5:00PM. Of the eight times I called, I spent a combined 2 HRS and 11 minutes on hold. Twice I was hung up on, four times I was told I would be called back, and the other two I was essentially told that there was NOTHING THEY COULD DO. Angry and agitated, I once again was forced to be at the mercy of Empire. Prior to them beginning an install, you are responsible for paying the job in full. I gave them over $4,000 on 1/19/18. So, there's essentially nothing I can do besides hope and pray that they come through.
1/26/18 - PHONE RINGS AT 8:20AM. The message went verbatim... "Hello, this is Empire today calling about your laminate installation for today. Your installer is on the way and should arrive shortly, but certainly within the next 1 to 2 hours. If you need to speak to someone, please call ** to reach a customer service representative. Please make sure all breakables are removed where work will take place. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon...goodbye." At this point, I'm somewhat relieved that this nightmare looks like it is coming to an end. WRONG!!!! At 11:41AM, I receive a text from my wife that says... "I wanted to wait until this time and not get you worked up too early, but Empire still hasn't shown." My response - "You've got to be joking." Her response - "Wish I was."
I'm absolutely LIVID at this point. I proceed to call Empire's office in Pittsburgh. Surprise, surprise...NO ANSWER. I didn't even bother leaving a message. What's the point? They don't call back, nor do I think they really give a damn. I then called Empire's main customer service line again. I got a guy on the phone and immediately I asked to be transferred to a supervisor or manager on duty. He asked me for some of my information, as I believe he was attempting to handle whatever issue I had himself. I once again asked for him to transfer me to a supervisor or manager. Sounding somewhat annoyed, he put me on hold to get someone.
I waited for about 5 minutes. I got a really nice lady on the phone named Anna (her extension is **). SUPER NICE lady. Seemed very eager to hear my concern and address it the best way she could. She tried to call the Pittsburgh office multiple times, but was met with NO ANSWER either. Shocker, right? She proceeds to call the installer set up to come to my house this morning. She did confirm that it was noted in my account that we were supposed to be the first stop of the day for this crew. She comes back on the line and tells me essentially she is going to tell me something that she doesn't think I am going to like to hear. The people set up to come to my house are turning around from whatever job they are currently on, and are coming to my house now. I'm ecstatic to hear this. I'm thinking to myself...that sure sounded better than I thought it would, given her warning.
She then proceeds to ask if I have any extra boxes of the flooring. I informed her that I did from the job that Empire did about 4 months ago. She asked if I would be willing to let the installers use that leftover wood to complete the job today. I gladly agreed, but asked for some sort of compensation for the wood that I paid for in particular for this job as they would be using materials left over from a previous job and essentially would be keeping the materials I paid for this job. She agreed. She asked me to call her once this job is complete to make sure it is done to my satisfaction. As of 12:59PM today (1/26/18), no one has come to my house and it is my direct belief that no one is coming. Period. This is the WORST experience I have EVER had with any sort of home improvement work thus far in my life. I would hope after reading this, if you've made it through its entirety, you would think TWICE about calling Empire. Consider yourself warned...
This is not how we want our installations to go, and we're sorry to hear that this was your experience. We'll be in touch with you shortly to further discuss your concerns.

The quality is amazing and it is much better than the $600,000 houses I built -- I am a home builder. Customer service is very important to me. They could come out almost immediately to give me a quote, which was reasonable. They also have a wide product selection and I was happy with our first interaction as they gave me the feel of the company that's why I wanted to go with them. The sales rep who came in to give the quote was also very professional. The color and the material selection that they offered were awesome, and it has more than met my expectations. Get your quote and your carpet from them.

I got a suggestion for Empire Today from a friend and neighbor, and so I got Empire to install hardwood floors in 2 of my rooms in my home. Empire has good quality and good resale. However, I noticed yesterday that I've got one of the pieces that go around the wall seems to be loose. I also have a claim that's still open and have not gotten a response yet. I had two items that got broken when the installers were in the home and I've relayed them to Empire but they've not come back and give me an idea of when I should expect my money. I got an email but nothing else since then and it's already going two months, which is a little long. It'd be nice if they give me some feedback. I hate to leave something hanging so I've already taken care of it but that was extra expense and I'd like to be reimbursed. I'm happy with my hardwood and I would recommend Empire Today but I want my claim resolved.

I had a living room and bedroom rug put in through Empire Today. The installation went very good. The gentlemen that put it in were fantastic. One didn’t speak English but the other one did and they were fantastic gentlemen all the way. Within two and a half hours and they cleaned up every bit of the mess. They moved all my furniture and put it all back. I’m disabled and I couldn’t lift it and they were very good.
I checked around other places and they were a lot cheaper but they charge steep for moving the furniture and stuff for you and then they want to remove the old carpeting and padding and get rid of it before they come in and I couldn’t do that. So it was worth it. I like the color of my Empire Today flooring. It’s like a beige with the hint of brown in it and I’m very happy with it.
I like the company. But I don’t like that I have to make a deal right then and there with them. They won’t come back. If they come back it’s going to cost more money. I would have wanted to discuss it first with my family but I went ahead with it because I’d like to get my new flooring put in my kitchen. They were a little high on that. But that was the only thing I didn’t like.

We had vinyl flooring put in back in May of 2017 in 5 rooms and a hallway. The install itself was fast and the installer done a good job. The vinyl looks great and you had to look hard for the seams. The issue comes about 6 mos. later when it starts to bubble up throughout 2 of the rooms and the seams start coming unglued. They send out their inspector and he took pictures and everything. Now they have determined that my sub-floor is damaged and it would need to be replaced before they can fix it.
She told me that the installer should not have installed it if the sub-floor was bad. The thing is, the entire floor was replaced with new plywood prior to the install. Now I am told that I will need to find my own inspector to come out and tell me whether or not it is my sub-floor or that the glue is not holding it. I would not recommend Empire Today for anything that you plan to live in for longer than 6 months. They have one group install it and another to inspect. The inspector has never seen what is under the vinyl. I guess I should have spent my $4000.00 somewhere else.

The customer service was terrible!!! I would never do business with them again. Stick to a local company with personal service not a 800 number one in Texas.

Empire's carpet installers canceled out on the day of the installation because they said that nobody answered the phone. But I was home and no one called. They then scheduled for the next day. They brought the carpet here and they got everything going. When it was almost finished, they said they needed to call and get some more carpet. They had done what they were supposed to but they were still waiting for the stairs, not enough carpet was sent for it. I told them to do what they had to do so they did. They said it’d be the next day or at least next Monday. I told them to go ahead but they shouldn't wait too long because this was making problems for my family. They finally came the following Monday and they got the carpet in. When they finished, they went ahead and cleaned up. I'm hoping that the carpet will stay as nice as it is right now.
I thanked them for everything and they told me that someone would call and be talking to me about what happened, about trying to get this and not having enough carpet. I’ve been waiting for a call but I haven’t had one till now. It’s been over a month. I don’t understand why it takes them so long to get things done. The installers did their job but the other people who were supposed to be helping perhaps didn't know what they were doing. I wasn’t very happy to wait for different things. It was inconvenient to wait for them to come out or call me when they’re going to come out.
I had Empire three years before this with the same problem. I got everything but we had a problem getting it done because they sent the wrong carpet out. They came out and started to install the carpet for the whole thing going down the hallway. They stopped in my living room because there wasn’t enough carpet so they had to order more. But when we got it and put it in, it didn’t match. It was a different shade. I told them to get the same textures even if they had to take the whole carpet completely out and redo the whole room. They did that to get it done and somebody came up and checked. It was creating a dark shadow on one side which was already laid and I couldn’t tell that they were both the same carpet. It wasn’t running the same direction. But it was finally finished and they had the stairs done. I haven’t had any complaints since then until my basement flooded again.
Other than those, the color of the carpet I have now is absolutely beautiful and it’s just one of those things that I have to get used to because it seems to be thicker. When I talked to the one who sold the carpet to me, he said that what he got me this year was something that it was supposed to be a little denser and everything was with a better packing. But it wouldn’t be so plush that I'd sink into it at all time because I didn’t like that. It's just that it was too hard to walk downstairs when I had company and they were eating down there. I was afraid people would worry that they were going to trip or spill whatever they had in their cup. But this one seems to match all covers more than anything else and it has a beautiful feel when I walk on it. Overall, I would recommend Empire Today as long as they have the same people that brought the carpet in and made it. They were absolutely great.

The installers did a really good job. They came in, got it done and were out of here. But I just had a situation that was never resolved. I thought they would trim the doors if they rubbed the carpet. I guess I didn’t understand right because I could not get it resolved. I could even go back and find notes. But I talked to someone who said, “According to your contract, they do not do that.” And that was several calls later.

We purchased from Empire Today a vinyl flooring for our bathroom and their reps did a good job. They had to come back though because they didn’t do part of their job the first time, but they fixed it. We also had our kitchen done by them a year ago, and we had a very bad experience. They ran a seam right down the middle of the kitchen and within two days, it had separated. We called them and they came out to fix it but their rep just spread some glue over it. We called them again and the manager came out and had another person come out and take care of it. The first visit that has was a crew of four couldn’t do it right but the third guy did an excellent job all by himself considering we’ve got a large kitchen.
I addition, they tried to talk my wife out of what she thinks is wrong. They said, “No, you don’t need that.” when in fact we do because she doesn’t want water to get in the gap. And my wife has experienced that twice as they tried to think that you should listen to them because of the benefit of the experience. My wife is not stupid though and she knows what she wants and knows a way to avoid having further repairs later on. We just wish they do their job completely right the first time, then they wouldn’t have to come back.

Reviewed with Empire Today Sales representative for $5,700 removal and replacement of carpets in home. A week prior to install, I hired painters to patch, sand and repaint the home. On installation day, Dec 15, the installer would not start unless he received COD. My initial payment was going to be by Company CC. But, was caught off guard by this request as to what if I had an issue later, and then I would have to go thru a customer service nightmare. So I changed my payment to Business check and was approved. Once the installers were completed, this is where the nightmare started. There is a little paragraph in Empire's installation liability that states " best to avoid nicks, scratches and baseboard scoring is expected". After contacting customer service with my complaint of multiple holes in the walls, brand new wainscoting had a 2" gash through to the sheetrock behind, above the door wood trim with gashes and punctures.
I was instructed to take screen pictures of the damages. I inquired as to would it not be more feasible to have someone come out and visually inspect. I was told NO, and pictures would suffice. I took about 10 clear pictures, and shortly after was then told by Empire that $200 is the maximum they could do "as a courtesy" since they're not responsible for damages by their "subcontractors". I immediately contacted my previous vendors who performed the work a week prior to supply a valid estimate of costs needed to repair and replace to previous conditions which amounted to $594. I then contacted Empire's customer service about the difference in costs. Once again, I was informed that to read the installers contract, and that they're giving a courtesy of the $200 and that is the best that they could do. I explicitly replied, "absolutely not, why should I have to pay $394 difference to repair damages that your company damaged?"
Not to mention, tape seams protruding through the center of my master bedroom, and overlayed carpet on one of my heater vents. Another subcontractor came out to address the tape seam and overlay of carpet. He did a great job in fixing the issues and wanted to know do I know the names of the previous crew that messed the job up. But, back to the customer service nightmare. I contacted Empire on Dec 15 day of the install that I was not happy and that I would stop payment on the $5700 check. I told them I would not have an issue of reissuing another check less the $594 ASAP. The customer service rep repeatedly would come back with headquarters would only authorize $200. So I then contacted the Better Business Bureau to help with this. Empire would reply to the BBB that they would now offer to split the $594 in half to be paid by them and myself...
I replied that why should I, the one that hired your company to install carpet take on the responsibility of splitting damages that I did not do? And they replied that they felt that it was a gracious offer and hoped that I would accept. I replied I would not accept this offer unless I was fully reimbursed the $594. This was over the course of 3-4 weeks. Now today, 1/24/18 I received an email from the same customer service rep with a typed up agreement between Empire and myself, for the sum of $594 to be paid to me upon me signing that I would "forever release Empire, its former, present and future parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of actions, debts, accounts, accounting, legal or equitable, which I may have on my purchase order". Looking at the "iron legal clad" document, and the possibility of finally getting some resolution I was about to sign and agree.
It was odd as to why they would finally agree after a month of back and forth, but I was glad to finally have this put behind me and pay them for the installation. BUT, I received a letter. A collections letter from a company CPRS who stated that my business now owes them the $5,700 as Empire filed a claim and was subsequently paid the sum, and that any correspondence from this point would be between myself and Certegy Check Services. Empire would no longer be involved in this negotiation.
You can imagine the shock to see that your business account the whole time of trying to have this rectified ASAP in December, Empire was filing a claim for payment, relinquishing their claim to the sum and as well I assume trying to tie up any and ALL legal remedies, harm that may now have been completed against myself, and my business with this financial move. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE before you hire Empire Today do your due diligence and research RESEARCH, before you contract with them. This has been and continues to be a financial nightmare.
We understand your frustration, and we sincerely regret to hear about your experience. We understand that we've in contact with you regarding your concerns, and we'll continue to follow up until a solution is reached.

I was told at time of purchase that the product had a lifetime warranty. That is total **. I recently had an issue with one of the floorboards. They came out and said it was moisture damage. The lifetime warranty states that it's covered. But it has been over one year so that means the service warranty is over. I need to pay. I said that means that there really isnt a lifetime warranty because the one year overrides it. They didn't understand what I was saying. I asked for a warranty specialist to call and explain to me. Never called me back. Meanwhile I have been leaving messages with a Chris in the Philly market since Jan 3rd. I have yet to get a callback. I have multiple messages. I dont think they are budgeting on the warranty but since they won't call me back. I cant even schedule. I'm held hostage. No one else can fix the floor.
Justin from the Philly market left me a message that Chris would call me Monday. It's Wednesday. Still no call from Chris. I left messages with his boss too - Lisa. She never called me back. I just want to get my floor fixed. But it's like they are refusing to work with me because I had the nerve to question the warranty - because at first all I was told was that it wasn't covered. I wasnt even given an explanation why it wasn't. It's the worst experience I have ever had. Here it is a month later and I'm still dealing with them. Still havent heard back from Chris. Still isnt scheduled to get fixed. Cant even find a corporate number to submit a complaint. You call the general customer service all they do is call the Philly market. I regret ever getting my flooring done with them. I will warn everyone about the scam of the warranty and horrible customer service.

We have a friend who works for Empire and he highly recommended it. I also saw results of previous projects Empire had done so I was quite confident that they would do a good job. We got plank craft flooring and the color was good. We had them installed in the family room. The installation crew was great but they kind of left a little bit of mess at the side of the house. We have a xeriscape lot so when they were washing up the mud, it left a bit of a mess all over the black granite rock. Also, the product for the grout with the package contents didn't make up the sample that were shown, the package didn't make that color. So they had to come back and they looked at it again to make sure that there wasn’t a screw-up. They bought a brand new bag of the grout, they put it down and it was never going to equal.
The grout that they show you is like a piece of chalk and they put it up against the final product. My wife took a picture and the difference was night and day. They admitted that the product will never match. So they went out with my wife to Home Depot and bought some stain and they had stained the grout to come closer to what the color was. It was a lot better after that. Other than that problem, Empire took care of us at the end of the day.

I complained about the carpet in the first unit since it had tufted up and when I vacuum it pulled the wool and unravel a line leaving missing portion of the carpet. I suspected a bad run since it was in every room. My tenant had a dog, taking this into consideration, it still led me to conclude that this was the bad carpet product and since under warranty I called Empire customer service. Customer service finally set appointment for a review, they send the installer whom took phone photos and comment it was my fault. Patrick was extremely rude and did not allow me to speak with the customer service person. I was told they would decide, when I called and e-mailed Briana ** for results I was told that a letter was send to me (I am still waiting) and three departments said that the product warranty would not cover this.
I have e-mailed several times for address of someone higher and also address for legal department, no answer. Empire customer service is zero. It is about not telling you anything so you will go away. The PA STATE CONSUMER DEPT. will be my next step - no communication speaks volumes. I am senior citizen and I feel I have been abused by the lack of communication. I paid cash for this carpet in the believe that EMPIRE STANDS BY ITS PRODUCT, it appears Empire does not. I will not buy another carpet/flooring whatever you have, until this is resolved and not by customer service rep behind a phone. Worst service and product. Though there was miscommunication from a reminder call from Empire informing us installers would arrive by 8 a.m., installers verified that morning that because of the drive length they’d arrive at 11-ish. (I wouldn't have minded knowing that ahead of time as I wouldn't have gotten up quite as early to make sure everything, including myself, was ready.) They arrived at their newly estimated time & worked quickly & efficiently in 2 days to install beautiful flooring in the living & dining areas along with the 2 bathrooms (that required grouting). Head installer was very friendly & respectful.
We’re very happy with our new look. Our only disappointment was 2 missing tools (which my husband used the previous week & planned to reuse the next day) noticed after the installers left. Empire handled the problem quickly & with care--calling us several times to verify the problem, confirming it had been resolved, & that we were satisfied. My only other somewhat negative comment would be regarding the use of quarter round by the front door since it is cut abruptly with an open space for the door & then restarted. It does cheapen the look a little bit. Otherwise we are thrilled with the flooring and the service.

Well today is install day for our new floors. The install crew arrived on time and seem to be very professional and knowledgeable. We are very pleased with them and the work that they are doing. However less that 15 minutes into the project we ran into some issues and discovered that our sales consultant failed us on a huge level. We were told that the install crew could level any rough spots and lay our lvt tile down on the existing plywood which is in good shape. Well as soon as the crew pulled up the carpet they said that we would need to put down underlayment to ensure that the project was done right. Of course we want the job done right so we now have the added expense of the underlayment which is about $1100 more than quoted.
I want the job done right and don’t mind paying the extra amount. However I just wish the salesman had the proper knowledge of the process before giving us a quote and hitting us with large added expense on install day. Some confusion and headaches could have been eliminated with a proper estimate from someone with more knowledge about what is required to complete the install. We agreed to the install based on the price that we were given because it was reasonable. However after adding $1120 to the price I feel like we could have gotten a better deal and wished we would have shopped around some more. Very disappointed at this time and although we are happy with the floor and install crew, I would caution anyone about trusting the knowledge of the salesperson and quotes given.
Your feedback is valuable to us, and we're sorry to hear that there was a miscommunication regarding your installation. We'll be further reviewing your concerns.

Then, they came and installed late into a Friday night because they said it would be 2 weeks to get into the schedule again and we would have to live in disarray until then. Then, they tore a hole in it during installation. We have tried and tried to get them out.
We have on our 5th no show after they call and say they will be there. The call center says they cannot reach the local Raleigh office. The driver refuses to come. The salesperson will not return phone calls. The call center will not allow us to speak to the president. They once said the executive office would phone us, but we got promises that the local office would be out. Today was the 6th day taken off work and while we got a call saying they would be out within 2 hours, they did not show. Call center again says they can't reach local office. We asked them to rip it out and give us a refund. They refused. Do not do business with this unethical company.

We chose Empire because we thought we were getting expertise advice in the type of flooring as well as the installation. We chose the luxury plank laminate and we're promised much more than what was delivered. The first issue we had the Salesman ordered the wrong color, that was a week's delay and time lost from my job. The second problem was the crew that was sent out spoke close to NO English and the head of the crew who spoke very broken English at best was absent for the majority of the installation. When asked if they were eliminating the squeaks in the floors, AS WE WERE PROMISED THEY COULD DO by the salesman, they would nod and affirm they were. No the queaks are still there. Before the installation was finished, I pointed out several inferior places in the floor and was promised faithfully they would return the following weekend and fix the areas. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN.
When I complained the installer blamed his manager. He said I needed to call customer service and file a warranty claim. We have several places coming up and the flooring buckles if any sunlight hits it directly. THIS SALESMAN DID NOT MENTION THIS FACT EITHER. We found out after the fact that we should have re-inforced our subflooring. NOTHING WAS MENTIONED ABOUT THIS. Now we have mushy spots and sunken flooring. FORGET ABOUT WARRANTY. I have called numerous times and each time I've been promised results. I've had 2 people sent out, one to supposedly take pictures and inspect the floors and another to fix the problem. The person coming out to fix the problem, did not have anything to fix the problems with!!! He in turn says it will have to be inspected. It's a switch and bait deal that is meant to make a person give up!!!
They have cancelled so called service calls 3 times. THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE. The franchise owner in MEBANE, NC is nonresponsive and frankly very unprofessional. NOT ONLY IS THIS A RIPOFF, YOU HAVE TO PAY UPFRONT BEFORE ANY WORK IS STARTED. I should have known this was a poor choice when they asked to be paid in full first. Then it's try and get your money's worth. I scheduled time off from my work to accommodate EMPIRE, only to have them cancel at the last minute. I've lost whole days waiting on them. This whole complaint could have and should have been resolved promptly.

I was sold LVT in a rectangular shape. The sales rep showed it to me and sold it to me. The installers showed up with square and I was not made aware of the tile until they completed demo on my floor. I was left with a sticky mess In my kitchen and was told they don’t even make the rectangular shape. I have a 1 year old child and a dog. Leaving the floor sticky and unusable while I looked for a different provider was not an option. So they installed the tile which they brought. I remind you this was not what I chose, or paid for. As they finished they quickly tried to have me sign a document without reading. I looked over their work and noticed they completely smashed my refrigerator power cord. Their fix was to break off one of the prongs and ask me if that was ok.
Also they cracked the wood floor in my home which is right next to where they were working. When I pointed this out they gave me a frozen type of wood filler and said I could fix it myself later. Also they grouted in my dishwasher. So I will not be able to remove it in the future without taking out the tile near it. I found out they sub out their labor which is likely why it was inexpensive and awful execution. When I called my sales person I was told it had never happened before but a manager would call me. When he did, over a day later he was unapologetic and almost unbelieving of my experience. I asked for a refund and he said, while this has never happened, that isn’t an option. I was sold a product that they don’t offer, was left with an unsafe environment and then when left with no other option had them install what they had for safety of my family.
He then called me a day or two later and said they would offer me $300 which isn’t close to what I paid for this. Also, after the I stalkers left I had tiles lifting up. I stayed off them longer than they said, but still there was damage. They came back to fix it but obviously did not put down enough adhesive in the first place. I am extremely disappointed, I was sold a product they don’t even make. Then had damage to other flooring and appliances by their Installers. Then when I made their management aware I was treated poorly and offered a very minor financial refund. Don’t forget I also had to fix my surrounding floor and appliances. Sales, install, and management were all incompetent. I would recommend that anyone else choose a different provider.

I knew a manager that was working at Empire Today who I used to work for over at T-Mobile. He told me that they were a good company, that they did good customer service, and that they stayed behind their products. So we had tile and laminate floors installed in our home. Then we had a carpet put down on our stairs which they just finished up and our experience with that was horrible.
We heard on the radio that they had a promotion that was going on where you would end up getting a free install if it was not done by Thanksgiving. We thought that was really cool because this company was standing behind what they were doing. But Thanksgiving came and went, and we still didn’t have the job done. Instead, it was completed the day after Christmas. At 8:00 in the morning, we got a knock on the door and they were finally there to put in the stairs. We had some correspondence beforehand and there were some mishaps. The installers that were supposed to be in were in accidents and all sorts of things happened throughout our whole wonderful experience.
After they had the carpet installed, we had to have a new bullnose put on the top of the stairs because the one that was put on there was too short and was for the wrong jamb. So, we still had to have them come out and fix that problem which took over a week. We had one crew that came out the following day who said he didn't have the right part but they'd get it corrected right away. About a week and a half later, it finally got corrected.

We liked the quality of Empire Today's product and we liked their salesman as well. We had them install laminate floors in our living room and bedroom, and I really like its water resistance feature. Our installation experience was a little rocky. We had some problems during the installation, but they corrected all the problems when we pointed them out. They had to leave us for two days because they ran short on their product. We were out of our bed for two extra days. They scratched our floors, too. And I would not recommend them because of the installation problems.

Their selection is also one of the reasons I went with them. They were very efficient and the installation was done on my timeline. I had to change the date a couple of times and they were able to accommodate that. The product looks top-notch and I like all its features. The flooring makes the house really nice. I like the tile and the wood look, and the carpet is very comfortable. So far, so good and I’d definitely use them again if the time ever came. I had some carpet installed in the two bedrooms of my mother’s home. Empire Today cost a bit more but the convenience was worth it as they came and I didn’t have to go to a few floorers. They had some reasonable samples and they gave me some options to choose from. The person who came out was pleasant and accommodating. They measured and then, gave me the price.
However, I got a call on the day of the installation and they told me that they canceled the schedule. It was inconvenient. I got the time and date a week in advance. They shouldn’t be agreeing on the things that they can’t make sure they can follow through on. I was pretty upset because I took time off from work to be there. They were rescheduling me for another day, and I didn’t know if I could make it. They called me back right an hour later and told me that they found some installers to do it. So they came and it turned out okay. I was pretty annoyed at first because once they gave me a date and a time, I expected them to live up to that. Still, the installation was perfectly fine.

I got a laminate in the living room and down the hall, and new Armstrong tiles stuff in the den, which is a big den, 27 x 25, from Empire Today. It looks like and grouted like tile but it's not cold to your feet. I had a certain amount of money I was going to put in to it and Empire Today had 50% off on the material and 50% off the labor. So that was the incentive.
The laminate flooring was made in Hickory, North Carolina, which isn't far from here. I'd love to have hardwood but I couldn't afford $5 and something a foot. It looks great and I'm pleased with it. The installation team was a-number-one. They moved everything, fixed the laminate back, and done an excellent job fixing the doors, which was first class. I got nothing but praise to those people. We have used Empire before for hardwood and carpet, this is not a review about that, they are great with Hardwood, Leo and his crew are fantastic. This is about tile. We have two bathrooms that we needed tiled when we moved in. We had them done and it was a disaster from day one. We were told it would be one day, it turned out to be 2. On the 2nd day after they "finished", they could not put the toilets back in but the installer promised Empire would pay for a plumber to come out since it was supposed to be apart of the install. We had the plumber come out and fix one of the toilets (2 hours for 300 dollars). The other one they told me how to do it to save money.
My wife and I have called Empire on and on and finally got a hold of someone who said that they will not pay for a plumber. We then spoke with a plethora of people over the next week to try and get an installer to come back to fix the work. We even spoke to some woman in corporate who ended up not being any help and lied about getting back to us. It was finally scheduled and my wife took a day off and on that promised day they never showed up. We both called and finally after speaking with 5 separate people, the appointment was rescheduled without telling us! We finally got another appointment where I took the day off. The installer came in the morning and took 4 hours to cut one piece of tile. He was completely incompetent. Even though he needed to re-grout both entire bathrooms, he only grouted part of one.
So now, the tile work is done, but not good at all, the tiles are misaligned, the grout is full in some places and not in others, the tile is uneven, we are paying 1700 dollars for this work and it's not even worth that. We are so disappointed in the customer service and we never got a refund like we were promised and the work was never done to our satisfaction. Do not do tile with Empire, bottom line, hardwood and carpet only.

Original Review: Jan. 17, 2018
I have used Empire Today several times for carpet and flooring, several thousand dollars spent with them. Each time I have had great experiences with the salesman and installation teams. Based upon that I recommended them to my mother. Unfortunately this is the first time there was an issue that required us to follow up with the "local" installation manager. In this case it is the Detroit market located in Belleville Michigan, Manager Craig ** (sp?). In short, the carpet is buckling in an area in her living room. We began calling in October 2017. She was told several times someone would call her back and schedule an inspection (callbacks and communication is not something Empire is very good at doing).
When this did not happen for about a month we followed up. Because the issue was raised a few months outside the warranty period (it was there inside the warranty period but she did not know to call), they told her she would be charged to fix it, which she declined to do being on a fixed income and feeling like that was not reasonable. I have been trying to follow up on her behalf (as the person who gave her the recommendation) to talk with the manager to see if anything can be done. Have been doing so for weeks. Discussions go like this: "Hold on sir while we put you on hold to contact the local installation manager. I'm sorry sir I was not able to get an answer but I left a message on your behalf and you should expect a return call in 24 hours." Same call, same result at least 10 times.
It's to the point where I am sympathetic to the call center employees. When I call, I tell them exactly how it's going to play out. They say they have no other information and/or no one else they can reach out to. They did not even have a direct phone number or address they could get for me. So I did some research on my own and obtained the information myself. I was able to reach the installation employees, all have been pleasant and have seemingly tried to be helpful. Those discussions go like this: "We don't have the authority to make any decisions on this type of issue, you will need to talk with the Manager (Craig). I will call him now, or I will transfer you to him."
Each time we get his voicemail. Interestingly the voicemail box is not full. They assure me that he will call the next day. Same result multiple times, no returned calls or messages. It's to the point where I question whether this guy even exists. Is he sick, on vacation? That would actually make me feel better if he was, otherwise it's not a very good look. Negative review is for the lack of courtesy to at least call customers back or provide a realistic expectation of when you might be able to do so.
I completely understand that things could be extremely busy. Experience gives me a clear understanding that you can't have any faith in their ability to address issues or concerns after the fact. Never seen anything like it. And of course no one can provide a name or alternate contact. It occurred to me to call my salesman, great guy. It was an ominous sign when he called me back, shortly after I left a message (imagine that), and indicated he had left the company. I am done doing business with Empire and certainly won't direct any future business their way, at least any business that would be serviced by this "local" installation manager.

There were two parts to do and it took him a day and a half altogether. I'd give him an A-minus, though. There were a couple of little things I had to do after, but he's pretty good.
They did the kitchen floor. They put laminate, then did the steps in a different material. We like the look of the flooring, and it has worn well for a couple of months. At this point, we come in and we say, “Look at that nice floor.” We’ve been happy with it so far. I'd tell friends they’re a little expensive, but sometimes a little expensive is better than a little cheaper. We’d recommend them.

I could only get half of it done but I am very grateful for that it took a lot of time for him to do it and I appreciate his devotion to your company. Empire Today had a good sale going on. They came out and gave me a free estimate. They came about two weeks later to put the carpet in my bedroom. They called me to let me know that they were on their way. They showed up on time and did everything right. They explained everything and when they got through with the work, everything was A1. They took care of the business. Everything was done like I wanted. Empire should keep doing the good job they're doing. They’re a good company and they stand behind their word. I recommend them.

I had kitchen and dining room floors put in, as well as carpeting throughout my whole house. Empire Today's salesperson came to our home and explained everything to us. The cost was reasonable but there was a little confusion with the customer service. The person I spoke with said both items were coming out because there were separate installers. The vinyl guys called me first thing in the morning and said, “This is the time we’ll be out.” They came in on time and did their thing. They took their time and the floor was actually great. But unfortunately, one of the individuals cut their hand towards the end of what they were doing. I also had an issue with a tile that was defective, but they came right out and took care of it. It now looks great and I’m happy with that.
And then, the appointment I had with the carpet was supposedly at 3:00. But 3:00 came and went, so I had to call back and asked if they were coming and the lady said, “I guess, they’re tied up on another job. We’ll call you back and reschedule in a day or so.” They carpet's comfortable and I like them but they're wrinkling which needs to be re-stretched. I asked if they were going to use a power stretcher for it and the lady said, “Oh, yeah, I’m sure he’ll have whatever necessary tools.” But I haven’t heard anything from them yet. And I don’t want to have them come back because it’s a lot of work. It’s five rooms of carpet with a lot of furniture to shuffle around when and if they come.

Don't make the same mistake I did. I had them install rugs 2 years ago in my upstairs, about a year after they were installed, they started to roll around the edges. The salesman originally told me that I was purchasing a great rug that would stand up to cats, that was wrong, that cats have frayed the rug. I decided to use them again for my family room and office downstairs. The salesman came out (different one) walked through, gave me a price and agreed to have it done. I showed him my upstairs and he said that the installers would fix it, free of charge even though it was a month out of warranty. He told me it happened because all the furniture wasn't removed when it was installed.
The day of the install, two guys showed up, very nice, we had a hard time communicating though, their English wasn't the best. They did my office, looked great, when they started the family room, they rolled out one side and then went to get the piece and when they rolled it out they were short. Rolled it up and said they would be back later in the week to finish. I went off the deep end, later in the week, my house is in shambles, couldn't even get to my kitchen. They looked at the upstairs and said we can't fix that and left.
After calling the sales person and the office, they told me they would have the rug for the next day. While I was waiting for someone to get back to me, I got a call from someone in customer service who wanted to schedule a different installer to come out and fix the upstairs, while I was trying to find out about what was up with my install, they want to talk about repair and wouldn't stop talking long enough for me to talk. They showed up in the morning and after having a debate about moving my couch out before they stretch it because they didn't want to they finally did.
When the install was complete, the guys didn't really want to move the furniture back in so I gave them $100 and they happily move the couch back in. As they were leaving, the installer said, let me look at the upstairs again, we went up, he took a look and then said, I'll fix it all for $200. I was a little surprised but I had them do it. I spoke to the sales person about it and he was shocked, he told me that someone would be in touch. Guess what, I've never heard from anyone. They promise you everything, but don't believe them, make sure you have it written that your install means moving the furniture out because I've had 2 installs and neither group wanted to move a thing.

We put in new carpet in 3 bedrooms in 2015. Very happy with service initially. Was told we had a 20 year warranty on carpet that if anything happens they will replace for free. Unfortunately my husband fell and cut his head open in one of the bedrooms and there was severe damage to one of the carpets - we had it professionally cleaned and the stain and damage did not come out. I then called Empire back and explained and after a month that they will not replace it at all because I had not had that room cleaned before this happened - I explained that the room it happened was my sons room who is away in college and that room is empty and is never really used and there was no reason to ever have it cleaned. This is a scam - salesperson never told us how difficult it is to submit a claim and get it approved. After spending over 3000 they told me they can replace for 485 and my carpet is discontinued. Will file a claim with the BBB.

No call from a supervisor. So, I thought I’d give them one for shot and rescheduled another appointment for an estimate. The exact same interaction with this company occurred. After the 2nd appointment window ended with no one from Empire showing up or calling, again, I called to inquire about the SECOND no-show. I had carpet installed in two of my bedrooms at home. The quality of the material and the sale that Empire Today had going on was affordable. The person that came out to do the measurements was very knowledgeable and he was very helpful in helping me choose what was best for the area that I wanted to put the carpet in. But the installers didn't want to install. I had a cashier’s check and they told me that it wasn’t good. But I did it because I felt that it would be safer for them not to be carrying the cash. And then they told me that they didn't want to put the carpet down because they didn't want to move the furniture that was in the room. They also said that the furniture was too heavy, but I had taken everything out and each room has two pieces of furniture that they have to move over.
They kept going back and forth saying reasons why they didn’t want to put the carpet down. And I told them that I had planned for the carpet to be put down that day, and I asked them to let me talk to the person that told them that the check was not good. When I called my bank, they told them that the check was good and that they had never received a call on that particular cashier’s check, and I didn’t like that. I didn’t want to use the installers again. I own four houses and I always got carpeting replaced in them. I've been doing this for 20 years and I always use cashier’s checks. This is the first time that I had a person that wouldn’t receive a cashier’s check. But other than that, it's all good and I would recommend them.

that we wanted. The carpet was like a white burlap with the stripes which Empire told us was of premium quality and a good carpet. It was also supposed to be second from the best that they got. Then he left me with pieces of the square carpeting so I had it when they came for the installation.
When the installers arrived, the molding on some of the carpet they brought was coming out and the carpet was not as speck as it was supposed to. They also came in and out of here with their wet boots but I didn't say anything to them about that. It was snowing when they came here but my husband swept the deck off. Still, they brought the carpet in here, cut it, and messed my walls up. They cut the big roll outside and they brought the big piece in here.
And when they put the carpet on, the room was all crooked, the carpet was pieced and all the walls got messed up. One of the installers said that the room was crooked that's why the carpet looks like it's zigzagging. He also said the walls were like that when they came in. But if they would have kicked it a little bit more, it would be straight. The workers also asked me if it was okay to have a nightstand to cover the spot where they cut the carpet, put a piece on, and where you see it was glued in.
One of the guys agreed that everything was done wrong but the other guy didn't. Their supervisor on the phone told him to take pictures and he even refused to take pictures. I had to yell at him to do what his supervisor said. When you got your workers even argue with each other there's a problem. Also, one minute their guys could speak English but the next minute they couldn't. I was even going to call the police and I asked them to stay here for a police report. But a supervisor gentleman on the phone said that sometimes that happened and asked me to let it go. Then their CS reps were supposed to call me back about this before Christmas. It was like a rush job. But they didn't call me. In the end, my house should've looked nice when my kids came home at Christmas but it didn't.

We had carpeting replaced in our entire home, the initial visit to pick out the carpeting and the installation went very well. However, after the installation, I completed a survey which asked if I wanted to be contacted and I stated yes. Someone called me within a couple of days and asked what the problems were. I explained that we did not get the correct padding in our living room, the installer messed up the trim in the living room where the carpet meets the vinyl. In the hallway there are two seams that are separating. In the master bedroom, there's one spot where it feels crunchy when you walk on it. I was told someone would call me back within 24-48 hours.
Two weeks later I still had not received a call, so I called customer service. After a very long time on hold someone came on the line and finally scheduled an appointment for January 15th, 2018 some time between the hours of 9 am-1 pm, to have someone come out to make the necessary corrections. After hanging up, I began to think, how will they know what supplies to bring if they haven't seen what needs to be repaired?? So, I called back again. Customer service said they would have someone come out on Thursday, Jan. 4th between the hours of 4 pm-6 pm to inspect and get a materials list. The installer called my home at 6 am on Jan 4th to tell me he was on his way, to which I replied, no you are not, no one will be home as we were scheduled for 4 pm-6 pm. He said someone would call back to reschedule, but no-one called back.
I received a call at 6 am on Friday Jan 5th from the installer to say he was on his way, AGAIN, I say, "No you are not, no-one called me to reschedule and we are not home until 4 pm." At this point, I am very angry at the lack of follow-up and follow-through from this organization, fed up actually. The installer called me back at 3:30 pm on Jan 5th and arranged to come by to do the inspection that evening. He agreed that the wrong padding was used in our living room, he said the carpeting in the hallway was laid incorrectly (wrong direction) causing the problems with the seams, he said the wrong type of trim was used at the front door and the crunchy feeling in the master bedroom is probably a piece of trash under the carpeting. He told us he would send his report to the corporate office telling them what needed to be done and for us to call after 3 pm on Saturday, Jan 6th to make sure all repairs are going to be made on Jan 15th.
When I called on Jan 6th as instructed after being told they are open all weekend, I was told they are not there on the weekend and after a long conversation with the customer service rep who was NO help at all, I asked for her supervisor. I then was connected to someone by the name of Anna, extension **, who I explained my entire situation to AGAIN only to still get no answers. I was told by Anna, that I would be getting a call on Monday, Jan 8th to answer all my questions. NO ONE CALLED AGAIN!!
I called Anna on Tuesday, Jan. 9th, only to be told she still didn't know anything except that the installer is scheduled to come out on Jan. 15th to inspect and possibly make repairs, to which I explained once again, "HOW CAN ANYONE MAKE REPAIRS WHEN NO-ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT IS BEING DONE?" Anna said someone should call me today, Wednesday, Jan 10th which remains to be seen. Anna said she would call me Thursday, Jan. 11 in the morning to follow-up, which also remains to be seen.
Needless to say, I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in Empire at this point. I want what I paid for, nothing more, nothing less and I want these repairs taken care of, but before that can be done, your company needs to get their staff to do what they say they are going to do. You've got my money so I'm sure I'm no longer a real concern to you, but good business is to follow through, not just make the sale. I want someone at the management level to call me to make sure this issue is resolved. Thank You.

All floors had to come out and days went by with a newborn and a 2yr old with exposed subfloors and all our belonging including changing tables and cribs stacked up in our front room. I got from Empire Today the recent vinyl flooring in my lower level of the house, and I have had them before too. They put hardwood floors on my upper level a few years ago and I was very happy and pleased with it. They also did do a bedroom for me and I was pleased with that. But I had too many problems with this downstairs. Each time they came in and did things, however, there was stuff that wasn’t done right. They cut the tile, the vinyl, and then they did a sloppy job putting down the quarter round. I did have them come back to redo the closet in the family room, which I didn’t do at first. But I also had my office area done and they had messed up and cut the vinyl wrong in there.
Then, they came back to do that, and then came back to fix the quarter round that they didn’t do that right. This last time, I had to call and get help from the financing company to step in and make them come out here and fix it. So, finally, they were here last week and they fixed it. I sat right on top of them while they did the work, and, finally, it got fixed. Now, the man who could speak English was not as knowledgeable about putting the vinyl down as the other man who could not speak English. But I had to go to Wells Fargo to get them to back me on this because that was too much money to have all these problems. The work took six weeks to get it done, and I was very disappointed in the crew that was sent out to do this.

It held up well and we are happy.
However, the board that holds the carpet in place has some spikes and we could feel it. My wife was walking barefoot and she could feel the spikes, too, so she took a hammer and knocked them down which seemed to solve the problem. We were disappointed that they didn’t do that for us, but it was a quick fix so we weren't devastated. Also, one guy told us we might have overspent a little bit, but we didn’t really have a point of comparison since we didn't have time to check other companies. On December 6th, 2017, Jolene from Empire Today came in the evening, and we discussed the flooring for the kitchen and bathroom in my second floor apartment which is currently not rented. The flooring is a wood type LVP interlocking floating floor. The flooring I decided on was to go from the kitchen continuing on into the bathroom. As we stood in the bathroom she asked about removing the bathtub. I said to her clearly, that the bathtub will stay in place, and that the floor will have to go around the claw feet. I said moving the tub would open a huge can of worms, and that leaving it as it is, is the best option. She said they will cut around the claw feet. I said to her that I was also purchasing a new toilet, and having the old one tossed out, as it was between 15-17 years old. She said, "Not a problem, once it's off we'll put the new one on." We talked about it for a few minutes, then moved on into the kitchen again.
I placed my deposit, and set up an install date of 12/14/2017. The day of the install three men arrived in an unmarked van with Connecticut license plates. Of the three men, English was not the language spoken. One opened the carton with the flooring, and showed it to me, to make sure it was correct, and it was. Two of the men carried the new toilet upstairs for me from the front porch that was to be installed. They started their demolition of taking up the old flooring, and taking it to the outside. I had to return to work, leaving them in the space where they were working. When I returned home from work nearly 5:15 pm, they were still working. The floor had essentially been done, but the toilet had not been replaced yet. These men were under the impression that the old toilet was to be put back, but I tried to tell them, that is what the new toilet is doing here. I could not make them understand, as one of them was shaking his head, no.
I called Empire Today and spoke with someone who finally called them to tell them to install the new toilet in place of the old one, in Spanish. They did so. Once they were done, the lead person showed me the rooms, and had paperwork for me to sign, and I wrote a check for the balance. Once they were gone, I turned off the lights, and went on with my evening dinner. I get up very early in the morning to go to work at 4 am, so I ate as soon as I could, cleaned up, then retired for the evening. I work for a school district, and we were on Christmas vacation starting on 12/22/17, but I also have a second job driving for a disability center, so I filled in there for the week. I worked Tuesday, and Wednesday 12/26 and 12/27/17. I decided to go upstairs and start cleaning the apartment on 12/27/17, at 5 pm, as the unit is listed for rent, and the real estate agent will be bringing people through.
Once a room is done I close the door to it and move to the next room. I was in the bathroom, washing the walls, cleaning the windows, wiping down the new toilet, scouring the sink, and scouring the bathtub. Water was being used from the tub for all of the cleaning. Once the floor was wiped down, and the room considered done, I closed the door. I closed the lights to the apartment and went down the back stairs to my apartment below. As I was making my way down the stairs I heard water. I went to the basement where I saw water pouring from the basement ceiling going onto the floor racks that have belongings on them, and water all over the floor. I held my head, and immediately went to the back of the basement and shut off the water main valve. I ran upstairs to my bathroom where I saw water pouring from my ceiling and all over my floor. I have a drop ceiling with a sheetrock ceiling just above it.
The ceiling was bulging from the volume of water. I had 1 1/12 inches of water on the bathroom floor, going onto my kitchen floor. I went back upstairs into the bathroom and looked at the bathtub, and saw that the floor was put under the claw feet. They pulled up on the rim of the tub to get the floor under the feet. They did this on all four sides. They pulled so hard that one of the clawfeet broke free and separated from the bottom of the tub. I called Empire Today at 7:15 pm and spoke with a lady who said, "Don't worry we'll take care of it", after I explained what happened. "We'll get back to you in 24 hours." I waited throughout the day for Empire Today to call me but they did not. I missed two days of work on 12/28/17, and 12/29/17 cleaning, and trying to get a plumber to the house.
On 12/28/17 at 7:45 pm I called Empire Today, and spoke with yet a different person explaining what occurred, and their response was, "We'll get back to you in 24 hours." I said to them,"That was supposed to happen and no one called, that is the reason for this call." "Someone will get back to you in 24 hours", they said again. On 12/29/17 a call was received and I was asked to take photographs of the damages which I did, and e-mail them to **. I was told that an adjuster and a manager will be getting in contact with me once they review the photographs and speak to the installers. I sent photographs on 12/31/17 and on 1/01/18.
On 1/3/18 I called Empire today and spoke with Amanda, and she said a manager by the name of Eric will contact me. I asked for Eric's last name but she said they are not allowed to give out that kind of information. I asked her about the installers and their unmarked van with Connecticut license plates, and she said she knows nothing about that. Amanda said that someone will be getting back to me in 24 hours.
Today is the 6th day of January and I have heard nothing from anyone. On the 29th day of December 2017 I had a plumber here at my home for nearly 7 hours. As a result of the installers tugging and pulling up on the bathtub, they broke a drain pipe in between the second and first floor. My instructions to the saleswoman was not to touch the bathtub as this would open a can of worms, and this was not abided by. The drop ceiling was destroyed, and had to be thrown out. The sheetrock ceiling above had to be cut out leaving huge gaping holes, and the new floor that was put in, in the second floor bathroom had to have a good sized hole cut into it. With this hole, you can see right into my downstairs bathroom.
For two days I could not use my bathroom as I had to go to my local gym to take my showers. Not only do I have damages to my new floor upstairs, and the damages to my bathroom ceiling, and the ruined items that were in my basement, but now I have to deal with mold and mildew from all of this. I live in this space. To this date, no one has contacted me about coming over to view this situation. Could you tell me, what kind of business are you operating here. I feel Empire Today is not taking the necessary responsibility here by just pushing me off 24 hrs at a time. My home is a mess, I lost wages, I have plumbing bills, I have repair costs that have not been addressed yet, and Empire Today keeps pushing me off 24 hrs at a time. To boot, I can't rent my upstairs apartment with a big hole in the bathroom floor.

Empire Today's cost was half compared to the other companies. However, the quality of the other ones was a little better since they included moisture barrier on the carpet itself besides the pad and they also had lifetime stain resistance. Since we're doing the whole house remodeled, the price was our deciding factor. There was a separate installation team for the LVP and for the carpet and both were phenomenal. They were very quick, friendly, and professional. They just went way above and beyond. Moreover, they also cleaned up. The LVP is so durable and wonderfully easy to keep clean. But the carpet has only been in the house for a month and a half and it’s already starting to show wear on the spots that we walk through. I'm concerned what's going to happen to it over time.

Empire was recommended to me by somebody else. They installed the flooring in the kitchen, the hall, and the laundry room. The installers were very courteous, neat and fast. The people that came to my house and saw the flooring gave me great reactions. The only thing is that I called and asked for invoice on the amount. I explained what I needed and the lady took over a month to send it to me. When she sent it to me, she didn’t send me everything on it, but that's okay. I decided to pay her up and see if I get it.

The first thing I thought of when I decided to get a new carpet was Empire Today's TV ad. The price I got from them was all right. I had just put down a natural cedar plank kitchen, and the color I picked up was almost a natural cedar color so they went well together. It's been fine so far. I'm worried about the steps and I hope they did them right, but I think they're going to be all right. The two installers who came in were excellent in doing their work. One worked on the carpet and the other one did the trim. They did a good job and I'm satisfied.

My Empire Today salesperson was very good and I liked her. She came out, did the measurements and told me she thought the floors would go on sale soon. It didn’t go on sale that first month, so I had to wait eight weeks for the product to go on sale at 50% off. I had Empire Today install two wood floors in the bedrooms and we like the floors a lot.

Although the initial sales rep was good and the installation was good, there was a huge mistake on your end with electronically processing my check not going through resulting in continued harassment of me as a "delinquent customer" threatening me with a collections agency which would have adversely affected my credit rating. It was eventually resolved but not without a great deal of anger on my part all because your office people didn't know their job.

I am an 8 time customer of Empire Today and have spent tens of thousands of dollars with them. None of these purchases went completely smooth but ultimately I have always been happy with the work quality and nobody can beat their pricing. Today's event was the last straw and I will never do business with them again. We purchased tile for 2 bedrooms of our home on 12/14/17 and scheduled the install for 1/6/18. The week before the install we received no fewer than 6 phone calls and 3 emails asking to confirm the install date. We replied to each email and called them multiple times to confirm the install. Each time we were told it was confirmed and they would be here on 1/6/18.
On the morning of the install, we had not received the customary call to tell us they were on their way. Thinking this was unusual, we called them and asked if there were any issues. The customer service rep told us a note had been put in our order by the install manager saying it had to be re-scheduled for 1/8 or 1/13. Since she did not know why, we asked to speak to the install manager. When we asked the install manager why it needed to be re-scheduled, he said, very rudely, that they had tried multiple times to contact us to confirm and we did not call back. We told him that we had called AND replied to the emails and in each case were told it had been confirmed. He said, "Well we don't receive those emails and nobody had marked it as confirmed" and that there was nothing he could do. I am now done with Empire and they have lost a multi time customer. This is also not the first time I have had an install issue.
In a past carpet installation with them, I had moved all of the furniture and prepared the rooms for the install and we got a call that morning saying "We need to re-schedule as I do not have anyone to send out there". I had to take another day off work to have them come out and complete the install. Good luck Empire. With customer service like this, your prices will only get you so far and eventually you will alienate all of your customers.
We know delays can be frustrating, and we're sorry to know that your order was cancelled. We'll be further investigating your concerns.
Thank you for sharing.

Empire installed carpet in home. Returned to install runner on two sets of stairs. I did not see results until they were gone. Horrible job. At bottom of stairs, carpet was not bound. Carpet is fraying... looks terrible. Also cut unevenly. Two different representatives came over. The first one, Miguel, took pictures and agreed that the runner needed repair. He assured us that a crew would come by with a small binding machine and make things right. He stated he'd submit his pictures and a report. Weeks later, another representative came over... I assumed he was here to repair the runner. He had NO idea what was going on. Said he'd never seen Miguel's report. Also said he could not bring in a small binding machine. He took pictures. Said he'd give them to his boss, Kenya. He promised me the runner would be repaired.
He tried explaining why removing the runner wouldn't work... I had trouble understanding his English... and my husband and I see no reason why the runner cannot be removed and replaced. Took weeks to get a call from Kenya. We were at work. Called back numerous times and her voicebox was full. We left our cell numbers at least four different times when her voicebox would finally be empty. Nope. She called house phone. We don't believe she even listens to a full box of messages at all. We've tried and tried calling her. We've tried getting through to someone in management. No luck at all. This is the worst customer service we have ever encountered. Empire has you pay upfront. If you need a repair that may require some effort, they are no longer at your service. We have a very poorly installed runner on two sets of stairs. Cannot get any help from the company. Will never recommend them. Wish we could find help.
We regret to hear that you were unsatisfied with your installation. Your concerns are important to us, and we'll be in touch with you shortly to further discuss your concerns.

Empire Today installed carpet in our living room. We've always dealt with them and it's where we’ve gotten our carpet for three years. It's convenient that they come to the house with the samples. Dave, the salesman, is the only one I like dealing with when it comes to coming out here and doing some measuring. I'm going to have him come back out here in a month or two and have him give me an estimate on a carpet for the bedroom.
The way the installers laid the carpet floor was a mess, and Empire sent somebody else to come out and redo the carpet. However, they marred up my molding that goes around the carpet. I had to go down and fix it myself. Also, for as much as it cost us, they could not disconnect my TV. My husband is totally disabled and I know nothing about disconnecting a TV. So, it bugs that the installers wouldn’t disconnect the TV to take it to another room which is only 6 feet away. The guy said he wasn't allowed to do that. We've had some bad experiences with Empire Today, but they've tried to make it right with us and I'd still recommend them.

Empire Today did a great job the first time, which was months ago. Recently we had them install carpeting on the house's lower level. This time, it was crazy and chaotic. They got the orders mixed up and delayed it by six weeks. Then they kept on calling us to reschedule and weren’t communicating with one another. However, they got it done in the end. I was very dissatisfied, but I'd still recommend them.

I chose Empire Today to install tiles in one room and hardwood in the other because I saw the advertisement of them having discounts. The pillow is color-coordinated with the hardwood and padding on my walls and I love it. The quality is excellent too and I’m perfectly satisfied with it and the workmanship. They finished most of the work in one day but they had to come back the next day because there was about a four-inch drop-off from the hallway to the living room and I wanted it to come down. They’re going to have to drill a hole in to remove the railings so that they would put the padding under it so it wouldn’t need a trimming. I figured it would take much longer but it did not. They came back the next day for a few hours and did it in a record breaking time. It was a real delightful experience working with them. I would highly recommend Empire Today to anybody.

The sales rep, Mary was very good, knew product well, listened and answered questions, overall very good experience with her. Carpet installers--did a good job. Also, were careful of things in my house and did a good job tearing out, cleaning up and installing the new carpet. My only complaint would be such a big job, installers were on site from 10am to almost 8pm--would it be possible to have 1 or 2 more people for installation so it does not take an entire day going into the evening. Thank you!

Updated on 05/08/2019: We had our carpet installed in December of 2017. The installers destroyed our woodwork. Empire refused to repair it or to pay for someone to repair it. They ran out of carpet and had to finish a few days later. The carpet on the stairs was left with a raw crooked edge and there were many loose threads which they left at the seams and along the woodwork. An installer repaired the raw edge but we were told to just trim the loose threads. In November of 2018 one of the loose threads (I did my best To trim them as the rude customer service rep instructed) got caught in the sweeper and unraveled a large section. In the middle of the room. When I called customer service I could never get a callback and now the warranty has expired. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! They are unprofessional and incompetent.
Updated on 01/30/2018: I already submitted a review a month ago. Empire replied that they were very sorry about my experience and would be in contact with me soon. Guess what??! Same old thing. Have not heard a single thing from them. Again I would suggest you stay clear of this company. Their customer service is non-existent.
Original Review: On the date of The original install the date was changed. When they did arrive 2 days later, they did not have enough carpet to complete the job. And while installing the carpet they did have they destroyed the baseboard, door frames and walls. I was dumbfounded. Huge patches of paint were scraped off. It took 3 days to repaint everything. Then when they arrived to lay the carpet on the stairs the installers did the same thing! It took over 2 weeks to get any kind of response from Empire. Even then I got the run around for another week.
The stairs had to be completely relaid because the edge was left raw with the padding showing. Guess what happened??? Yep wood destroyed again. Do not hire these people if you expect a professional job to be completed. I will say this, the installers were the nicest people I've ever had at the house. Just not very careful. I will never use Empire again and will do my best to dissuade anyone else from using them. Their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. Horrible.
This is not how we want our installations to go, and we're sorry to hear that this was your experience. We'll be further reviewing your concerns, and we'll be in touch with you soon.
Thank you.

I've used Empire Today previously and had good results with them. I also have friends that had gone through them and they’ve had some good results. About six months ago, we decided that we were going to try to get some additional carpet installed in our house. My mom, who is my neighbor on some adjacent property out here, had been discussing this stuff. I talked her into using Empire Today as well. She had some significant amount of work done to her place. Her house is around 3,000 square that had carpet throughout the area. She wanted the carpet removed and some of Empire's wood flooring put in.
Empire initially said that they could do all the work for her place in one day. Then they came back and said they couldn’t do it in one day and that they were going to have two different sets of installers come in. That meant that the wood flooring was going to be done in one day and the tile work was going to be done in another day. Neither one of those had taken place. My mother has a gas stove and a refrigerator with a water line that she needed to unhook. But she was extremely happy even though it took longer for the wooden floors to be put in. The installers did a really good job and were very respectful of all the stuff that she had in her house.
Then only the main installer showed up for the tiles. He had somewhat of a language barrier, so he had brought a guy to work with him to act as a translator. I asked what to use to maintain and clean the tiles since it was my mom’s first time to put that kind of tile in her house. The translator told me that he’s typically a wood installer so he didn’t know anything about it. All he was supposed to do was to carry all of the tiles into the house and the installer would be the one to do all the work. He was completely polite. He also indicated that the main installer was supposed to show up with a crew of people. Nobody showed up so they called the translator.
My mother has a huge bathroom in her master bedroom that was supposed to be done in tiles. The entranceway to her house is about 6 by 10. The installer had to do that and her entire kitchen, which is probably 15 by 18. It was a significant amount of floor space that they were going to cover. If somebody told me that it's going to be done in one day and I’ve unhooked the refrigerator and the stove, I would think that would be the primary location that they’re going to start in. But the main installer decided to start in the bathroom in her bedroom.
Having most of that done, he started in a foyer area where my mother had laminate flooring down. He never decided to remove that laminate but just went over it because it has a nice smooth surface. I have installed this kind of stuff before on my own and this seemed like a Mickey Mouse way of doing it. What made the situation more complicated was that prior to him leaving at the end of the completion of the first day, he decided he was going to put adhesive stuff on the laminate flooring. He was trying to prep the surface so that he could use that shiny flooring. It was a wet finish, and then he left for the day. My mother has small dogs that were walking on the brand new wooden floor she had installed two weeks before this. She's a 70-year-old woman, trying to clean all the little track marks because the guy left it. It all ended up them working on her place for close to five days.
When the installer showed up for one of the additional days, he brought a woman there who my mom thought was his wife or his girlfriend. My mother has a septic system which is an extremely expensive unit to have. She has her own sewer system that the county and the health department have to be on board with. She has to have this thing inspected on an annual basis. My folks had those pipes built less than 10 years ago. The installers, because they were using grout, didn’t bring any type of extra buckets or anything along those lines. As they were cleaning all the grout, my mom noticed the woman taking the grout bucket and dumping them down my mom’s drain. My mom told the lady to stop and said that she couldn't be doing that kind of stuff. The woman started arguing with my mom then continued to do it.
My mom tried to be nice to her at first and said to pour it out on the grass but not in the sewer system because it wasn’t city water. But she continued to do it. Finally, my mom had to get really aggressive with her and basically said not to do it anymore because they were going to mess up the system. She finally stopped. But within a day or two of the completion of the job, my mom’s pipes clogged up from the grout.
I ended up contacting Empire through the customer service and spoke to a gal by the name of Ashley. Ashley told me that they were really sorry about it and the lady shouldn’t have been doing that stuff. Ashley told me she was unfamiliar with how the septic systems work, but she definitely would get to the bottom of it and would remedy it. She said to get a plumbing company out here to see what they’d suggest and then they would pay for the repairs on it. So I contacted a plumbing company which took another day or so to get out there.
During all these dates, my mom didn’t have the ability to use her septic system or her kitchen because the plumbing problem started in her kitchen. The plumbing company came out and the guy used every bit of electronic snake tool that he had. He said, “If I can't get it to break loose on this one, I'm going to have to come back another day.” Fortunately, he was able to do it. He was out there for several hours working on this whole thing to try to bust out all of that grout that was stuck in the pipes. Then he proceeded to say, “Well, because this is a septic system, I'm using a snake. This is going to your actual tank out here.” He suggested to have tank pumped because it’s on a pressurized system where it pumps the stuff from one reservoir to another, which it would more than likely clog up the pump and create a further problem.
I contacted Ashley the next day to let her know of that information. She asked to send her the invoice for what I paid to get the plumber to do that. She also indicated that she wanted me to have a septic company come out and pump the tank to try to prevent any further problems. At that time, I asked if they were going to provide my mom some compensation for all the inconvenience she experienced because of it. She said yes but we’d have to wait until after the septic pump was done and then we'd discuss. I said, “Okay.”
She immediately sent out a reimbursement check for the plumbing that was done initially to snake out the drain. Back in October, she got the invoice for the septic pump to be done but I’ve yet to receive anything on it. On the 29th of November, I ended up having surgery. I haven't been able to follow up with her just hoping that she would take care of this stuff. It hasn’t been done and I ended up sending her emails about two weeks ago but there’s no response yet. I called them and spoke to Carol from customer service. I was going to try to pull up the email because I just got an email that the information was sent to Ashley. I didn’t believe that she was attempting to cover for her but she was trying to make an excuse for it because when I started to go through a portion of the story with Carol, she told me Ashley was on vacation. But based on my emails, she could not have been on vacation for a couple of months.
It put me in a bad way with my mom because I was the one that directed her to Empire. We were having carpet installed in our house simultaneous to this which I almost canceled because they’ve obviously jacked up my mom’s stuff so bad. We were still willing to use Empire Today but right now, I'm very dissatisfied and torn on the issue.
I was extremely satisfied with them before. And the guy that came out and did the carpet in my house seemed to be really good. But when Ashley was initially dealing with the septic tank issue, she told me specifically that she had to go to a supervisor and that it has been authorized. So how it is that it was authorized by somebody above her and this stuff is still not being rectified? I don’t know what Empire Today is capable of doing for some kind of inconvenience compensation on something like this, particularly for my mom who's never used Empire Today before. But it's just bizarre that they aren’t doing any kind of follow up.
We're disappointed to hear this, and would like to further assist your mother. Please email us at customersupport@empire-today.com with both the phone number and address linked to her order, and we'll be happy to follow up with her.
Thank you.
