I looked at a couple places and saw that Empire Today was having a sale. I thought I’d call them because I wanted it in quickly. The other place where I chose couldn’t do it for a month. The person who came from Empire was very thorough and very nice. They also gave me different options. The next day, they came and installed carpet in a bedroom. Those guys were all real nice. They cleaned up and did everything greatly. I like the pattern of the carpet and the feel of it when you walk on it. If I get carpet again, I will call Empire. I’ve told a few people that I would have Empire again.

I had laminate flooring done on the first level of my home through Empire Today by recommendation. They did my living room, family room and my bedroom on the ground floor. All four of their installers were wonderful. Their estimate of days was three days because I had a lot of furnishings. And they did it that same day when they came in at around 9:30 and they were done by 3:00. I like the color of the flooring and the fact that it's not rug. We have grandchildren and kids can do to rugs badly. As an older person those things offend me. The flooring has met my expectations and I love it. The only thing that I sometimes may have a little concern is that they had the ridges between rooms but they told me that’s normal.

I had some carpeting installed by Empire Today in the living room. Previously, I had some wood laid down in the bedroom. I love the new flooring that I got from Empire Today and I wouldn’t even let anybody walk on it with shoes on.

I hired Empire Today to install some carpet. I’m renting and I didn’t want to go all out because it’s not my property. But at the same time I wanted a nationally known company. The price was clear to me and I trusted who they were going to send to my home was going to be someone I could trust. So that was the big draw for me. And it turned out really great. The installers showed up when they said they were going to show up. They were very nice and polite. As a matter of fact, I went upstairs and went to sleep while they are putting the carpet down. That was how quiet they were. I got a mid-range carpet. We got a good padding and we’re very, very pleased with it. My favorite is the way it feels. And also it changed the entire look of the rental property. The carpet the rental had was just really crappy and old and it's now updated.

Well another problem that we have with Empire Today. This is carpet beetles! We had complete flooring done in our home mid February and product and installers were not an issue, but communication and lies (management blamed lack of training of sales rep) was our unresolved issue. Here’s our new problem. Since the carpet was installed we have found we are getting bugs (which we have been told are carpet beetles). While we had only about a dozen and we do vacuum carpet daily we are concerned about what will happen in May (when apparently is their hatching season)? Ok Empire Today let’s see how you respond to this.

The carpeting and linoleum from Empire Today had excellent quality and their installers were excellent. They came in, moved all the furniture, put everything back, and cleaned up. It was a better experience than I ever expected. I am truly satisfied with Empire Today and have recommended them and when I need more work done, I will call them.

I had vinyl flooring installed in our living room by Empire Today. However, I'm 85 years old and I'm used to a lower price on everything. The cost is too high. We choose Empire Today because they had an advertisement that we liked since there was a promise for a low price. However, that's something we really didn't get. Still, our new flooring is better than the one we had. It doesn't absorb dirt. Still, if we had a knowledgeable person inspect it as their installers put it down, we've might've saved a couple of complaints.

I was really pleased and satisfied with Empire Today. I came back to them since they did my living room a couple of years ago. I had the wood flooring in the living room and I wanted the same thing back in that room. The young men did very nice. I would always recommend Empire Today to anyone.

I got the carpet in the bedrooms and on the stairs done quickly by Empire Today. I’ve also used them before. I couldn't get the carpet that I picked but I liked that Empire was fast. If they come on Monday, they can be here on Wednesday or Thursday - that quick. Usually, you might have to wait two or three weeks from someone else. Also, the installers were good and knew what they were doing. They did what they were supposed to do. Everything was good. If you need carpet, call Empire up and get an estimate from them.

Empire Today's cost was comparable to the other brand I considered but a little cheaper, and I went with them for that. I had them install carpet in three bedrooms and in the living room of my house. The install was okay but their customer service before and around the fact wasn't the greatest. Originally, I was supposed to get hardwood in the living room and the installer relayed and explained to the salesperson how I have a little step-down into the living room and they explained what they were going to do compared to what the installers said they were going to do, which I didn't want, so it got switched to carpet.
And then, Empire billed me for what was owed to match what was for the hardwood. They even sent me collection letters and I got two different statements. I called and thought it was fixed, but then I got another statement and I called back and found out it wasn't fixed. It's just one department not talking to another department and it took two months to get that straightened out. The biggest issue was I work late and there wasn't anybody in accounting left, so I was talking to somebody on the phone that couldn't really help me. On the other hand, the sales rep was pretty new and the guys did a good job installing the carpet.

We looked at another company at Home Depot but they didn't do installations and Empire's pricing was just as good without the installation. We got the first quote from them, got two other ones and then went with Empire for the price. They installed carpet in our garage and I like its quality and how soft it is. We could actually lay on it and watch TV or do whatever. I highly recommend Empire Today.

We were shopping around and we probably would have gone with someone else, but Empire Today was able to do it right away. When we went to our first place that we would have been satisfied with, it was gonna take them 10 or 12 days. And then we called Empire Today and that’s when they matched the price and said they’d do it in two or three. Originally the pricing was a bit high, but our rep Brandon did some stuff and the price came down. We had carpet installed in the bedrooms and it's perfect. It came with all the right paperwork as far as the 15-year warranty, and that’s what we liked about it.

I had three bedrooms of carpeting installed by Empire. From start to finish the process was top notch professional. My salesman was prepared and gave us his thoughts and recommendations and was knowledgeable about the products. The price was a small bit over what we expected to pay, but because the process was so very simple we went for it. Our two installers were prompt, courteous and quick but above all on time and did a tremendous job of installing and cleanup. Would highly recommend to anyone.

We bought a home in August of 2017 and had Empire Today install carpet and vinyl thru the entire home. About 3 months after the vinyl was installed, bubbles started developing in the kitchen, so I called them out and they repaired the problem. Then a month or so later some more bubbling occurred, I called them and they came back out and fixed the bubbles. This happened one or two more times. The last time, the installer said they could not fix the problem.
So I called Empire Today's customer service to get them to do something (fix the problem), they sent out an "inspector" to see what the problem was. From that point on I have not heard from them, they have not reached out to me or responded to the problem. I have called them several times, and found it very difficult to get past the automated system to speak with a living person. I've gotten thru twice, and the representative on both calls said their manager would get in touch with a resolution, but never has. The last time has been about a month ago. Besides them not standing good for their work they did not pay the referral fee to my sister-in-law for referring them to us. Anyone looking to get new flooring I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Empire is not a professional floor installation company. Instead I was sent a “salesman” for an in home estimate who did not understand how custom of a job I needed done. His answers to all my concerns were “no problem we can do it” which turned out to be vastly incorrect! Unfortunately I took the salesman's word for it and trusted that Empire could get the job done and I set up an install date right away.
On day of installation 2 workmen came to my home and immediately within 3 minutes were able to tell that the job would require a more sophisticated company that could level the floors properly to install tiles in the kitchen. This made me very upset because I took off work, cleaned out my kitchen for the installation to have the workers say that they couldn't do the job!?! If Empire would simply send knowledgeable people for in home estimates to see if a job could be done it wouldve saved time for both me and their company. My experience was very poor and I wouldnt recommend this company to anyone. You've been warned.

In March 2015 I had a solid wood floor installed at the cost of 6,000 plus. Fast forward to November 2017, I noticed what appeared to be cracks and splintering in a section of the floor. I contacted Empire Today and two inspections followed. It was concluded by the last inspector that there was a defect in the wood, the fact that I had extra wood in the basement that showed the same signs of cracking and splintering, I’m sure contributed to this conclusion. The inspector was to submit his findings and Empire Today would be in touch. On one occasion, a installer came to replace the defective slats only to discover that he had been issued the wrong wood. It was at this time I was informed that the manufacturer no longer stocked this particular wood. Numerous calls to Empire Today went on for weeks without any response. I was always told, a supervisor would be contacting me, that never occurred.
Around 2/19 I posted via social media my dissatisfaction with Empire Today’s customer service. The next day I received a call from Julio, who informed me that he would be submitting my claim ASAP. ON 3/3 Yvette called...probably Yvette ** who was supposed to call me on 2/19 and never did... She informed me that my claim had been denied by the manufacturer. My warranty with Empire Today was for one year and only covered installation. The “fictional” 20 yr. for the product itself, is with the manufacturer and obviously up to their discretion to honor.
My problem is that I contracted with Empire Today and they are not advocating in my behalf. Of course, it is in the manufacturers best interest to deny culpability in view of the fact that they no longer stock this particular wood, they would have to replace the entire floor (living and dining rooms). This is not cost effective, Empire Today does not stand behind the products they install. I recently received a call from Randy who said for an additional 1,900 they would install new floors “with their highest quality wood”. The “highest quality wood” is supposedly what I originally purchased for 6,000+. They sound like con artists!

The carpet is cheap and the padding is horrible. TOO THIN, the sales man did not say anything about how thin the padding would be... I WISH I COULD GET THIS CARPET TAKEN UP AND REPLACE WITH THICKER PADDING, carpet should last at least 9-10 years. Carpet I have I'll have to get new carpet in 5 years with the wear and tear.

We had Empire Today install hardwood for the living room and the dining room. My favorite features are the color and the texture. I know it’s easy cleaning it up too. Empire Today is less expensive than others and the installation crew was good. Some of the cuts weren’t as tight as they should be though. I also have one area where the floor trim is coming apart. So I have to call them and have them come and take a look at that. But other than that, we were very pleased with them. Overall, it was a good experience and we’ve recommended them.

Empire Today matched the price and I thought they were the best way to go. The carpet was for a big basement at my home. It was a big job and the guys who came to install were quite hardworking. They spent quite a bit of time here. But I think they were a little bit understaffed. They came with a mechanic and two helpers. And based on the size of the job, I think they probably could’ve gone with an actual mechanic. They were here for a long time. They came early and they didn’t go ‘till very late. But as for the new flooring, there's no problem with it.

Empire Today was a little cheaper compared to the other brands we considered, and they could also finish the job in an efficient manner. They installed wood floors in our house except for 2 bedrooms. I chose the flooring for its color but it marks very easy. Any kind of marks will show up and I can get it off but it's too hard. While there's some part Empire had to do over because they had to nail it, they did a good job. They were also good people and very friendly.

We were in an awkward position as we were trying to move out and rent our home and move into another. There was a very short window to get this done. Now, we do recognize that we are also very lucky to be in this position in Los Angeles, but years of hard work were paying off! We needed carpet in our house in 2 days time AND laminate in the new place 2 days after that... We didn’t think anyone could manage.
In comes Karen, who met us first at one home, to set up carpet. She was prompt and professional, understanding our needs to make the home we loved into a rental. We liked her so much, we asked if she would help us in the new place. 2 days and 28 miles down the road, she met us in the new house and got us a great deal on laminate for the new bedrooms. 2 homes, 4 days! Great service, reasonable prices and we moved out on time to get amazing renters and landed in our dream home! Thanks Empire.

I hate carpet and I already had existing hardwoods so I wanted something to match with it. I called a couple of place and got estimates. Some of the places didn't have finished flooring and I was going to find a place to relocate for a day or two while they finish it and I didn't want to do that. But Empire Today has pre-finished oak hardwood flooring and the decor product matched my existing hardwoods pretty well. The installers from Empire did a good job. They came in, did the work, and they seemed happy.
But when I called their general number, the person that I talked to seemed a bit confused so I also got confused. I wind up calling the sales person I talked to then they took care of everything. But it really wasn’t an issue because it didn’t result to anything other than five minutes of my confusion. So overall, I would definitely recommend Empire Today.

We had some tile work and some waterproof luxury vinyl planks installed by Empire Today in the whole home but the bathroom and the back porch. We looked at quite a few brands and went with Empire since they would install it from start to finish. I also liked their price and warranty. Plus what we got is easy to clean. The boys that did the tiles were top-notch people. There was one translator and one guy that really knew what he was doing. And then, when the guys came to do the flooring itself, there was quite a discrepancy and I told them, “We're not going to do that. You just go back home and we'll refigure it.” When they figured out I wasn’t going to spend a whole bunch of money, they got everything to come together. They knew exactly what they were doing and the proper way to do it. It just took a while to get the problem solved but it was perfect afterwards.
They wanted to play hard to communicate at first, but when it was all said and done, I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of guys. They were legit and they cared that it was a nice job. When we figure out what we're going to do in the bathroom and the back porch, I'm going to get Empire to do more. They went above and beyond.

I need a non-warranty repair on the flooring of my rental property so I scheduled an agent to come out and measure so I could get an estimate. The agent was scheduled 3/21 between 2-6 pm and I was supposed to receive a phone call from the agent when they were 30-60 mins away. The agent never called and showed up 4 hours early. I do not live at the property! On 3/21 at 10:30 AM I received a text message from my tenants that said the agent had already came and took measurements, asked them for $75 (which they did not pay) and the agent tried to call me and I missed the call, he left.
3/21 My husband and I called the number back and the agent insisted that we need to pay $75 (Which I was aware of) but I informed him I had planned on paying the fee with a check. He then said I needed to call Empire and make the payment over the phone and they would accept a check. So we called Empire multiple times trying to make a payment and no one would accept our payment as apparently the installers are the only people allowed to call in payments. So obviously I am not very happy as I just need this quote ASAP.
3/22 I spoke to a manager in customer service and he agreed to waive the $75 fee and would get back to me when the agent turned in the information for my property as they have 24-48 hrs to turn it in. 3/23 My husband called the agent to make sure he turned in our information as we had not yet heard back from Empire. He said he did turn it in but he did not receive any notice that we paid the $75 and asked my husband for a confirmation # which of course we don't have since the fee was "waived." 3/26 Once again I call Empire for an update and they inform me that the person handling my account from the Baltimore office was unavailable but left a message to have them call me back as soon as possible.
3/27 Having never received a callback, I call Empire and get the person in charge of my account and the rudeness and attitude I experienced was completely unacceptable. She is telling me the only solution is to schedule to have someone come out again. ABSOLUTELY NOT. Again, I do not live at this property, why should I have to take more time off work to wait on an installer to come do this job all over again because Empire cannot hire competent agents to do the work in the first place. When I ask to speak to the manager she informs me that he conveniently leaves at 3 pm.
I can't understand why this is so difficult, someone came out and took the pictures and measurements they need to create a quote. If my husband and I can call and talk to the installer why can't Empire call and get the info they need?! I used to love this floor and now I absolutely hate it and will tell everyone to stay away from Empire. If I could purchase the flooring elsewhere, the job would be done by now but here I am still waiting for a Quote! I can't even imagine how awful it's going to be to try and schedule a repair.

In February, 2018, we placed our order for our carpeting, along with a downpayment. It was our 2nd choice as our first choice was now discontinued though still showing as available on their board. We scheduled our delivery for today, March 27, 2018. We were told we would be called to inform us approximately when our carpet would be installed. At 8:37 am, on the day of delivery, I received a call telling us that our carpet would NOT be delivered at all because upon their checking their inventory they did not have enough of our carpet choice in stock to now do our basement AND that the carpet we chose and paid a deposit on is now discontinued.
This company does not EARMARK IN THEIR INVENTORY YOUR CARPETING THAT YOU PAID A DOWNPAYMENT TOWARDS, so until the day of installation they apparently do not know if they can even uphold the contract you signed. Never heard of such a way of doing business. We had moved everything out of the two rooms into other areas of the house, which now makes the entire basement unliveable and we will have no carpet. Our salesman never mentioned that this could even be a possibility. I am sure within all of the fine print of their huge contract, they cover their very unfair business practice but just know... You are taking a big risk of having no carpeting available at the time of your installation, even after your signed contract, down payment, hard work and expectations. Very unfair to their consumers.

We had carpet installed in one room by Empire Today. Jeff, the salesperson, was down to earth, honest, patient and was not pushy. He was local and he gave me his telephone number as well as his card so I could put his number in my phone. He did an incredibly great job. In fact, he was the reason that I bought the carpet. I looked at a lot of different samples and I went back to my original choice. I liked the padding and that I could have it installed the next day. It was installed within hours and they cleaned up very well.
I just left the installers alone and let them do their job although I did watch them move my antique organ. However, they wrecked the cord on my organ and I still haven't gotten it repaired. I still can't play the organ so, that was one thing that I didn’t like. I had a very cheap estimate to replace and repair. The cord itself would be $29.95 and then the average labor for installing that would be $65 an hour and it would take about an hour to move the organ, install the cord and check the cord to make sure that the organ is working. So, if you add that and you get 30 plus 65, it would be $95 and Jeff agreed to do it for $60. That's a savings of $45 to Empire. But it still isn’t fixed.
I would recommend Empire Today to a friend despite the fact of the cord has not been fixed yet. Also, I did not get an invoice with the receipt of the amount that I had paid. I had to ask repeatedly and I still haven't gotten it. And, I have fees that they're going to put a credit on my charge card but I haven't received that charge card. I haven't seen that credit yet but I'm anticipating that they're going to file and do that for me. Nevertheless, they did a very good job of installing the carpet and the quality of it is very good. I vacuum it once a day so it is pristine when you walk in. I don’t let my pets near and when people come, they comment, "Oh, you changed the carpet. It really matches your new furniture and it looks very nice."

I contracted with Empire Today to have flooring installed in two bathrooms. We did not call any other flooring installation companies because we felt that Empire Today had been in business for a long time and would have professional flooring contractors. We received an estimate and signed a contract. Vinyl flooring was installed with white caulking and white quarter round. We were told that we would have a bead of white caulking next to the tile, which was not the case the caulking was wide and sloppy. I tried to stop the contractor in the middle of the job but he said he had to finish. I was unaware that white quarter round would be used. The contract is digital and we only signed a few pages of the large contract. I called Empire Today immediately after the contractors had left to let them know the installation was done unprofessionally.
There was glue on the door and walls and damage to baseboard and tiles in my bathroom along with the poor installation. Empire Today has a very good customer relations department and 3 crews were sent to fix the original installation. It is still not corrected. I had requested that the original flooring installer not be sent out to fix the problems if he thought he did a good job to begin with he could not repair the floor or the damage. He did come back and was very intimidating to me. He felt he did everything right when he installed the flooring and disputed my claim that the tiles were banged at the installation with the large roll of vinyl. The tiles fell off soon after the installation but not right away. They have since been reinstalled by Empire Today. The quarter round used is very large to cover up any cutting errors, which there were many. The vinyl flooring is a multicolored brown flooring and white caulking was a problem.
The quarter round was changed to a different color when the original installer returned but the corners were not mitered. I was told that the wall was not square. The baseboards have been damaged by the installation and removal of the white caulking by a very sharp tool. When the toilet was removed there was damage to the wall that has not been repaired or even offered to be repaired. Empire Today feels that the flooring has to be replaced but after 6 chances I cannot have them return and now they have sent collection notices. I hoped the flooring installation could be repaired but because the vinyl was not cut correctly, new baseboards would not cover the uneven cuts. I have estimates from licensed flooring contractors who also agree it cannot be repaired, a new vinyl floor has to be installed. I do not feel I should have to pay Empire Today the balance on my account. They are not agreeing. See the photos.

I had Empire come do the duplex I built. The salesman from Empire was a little better compared to the local company that I've been using, but their work was about the same. We put some carpet and ceramic tiles. It was a little messy on the tile, but we cleaned it up and everything worked out. The flooring looks good and it's holding up good. I might do it again.

We had Empire Today install carpet in two rooms that I needed it in. When I talked to the gentleman from Empire, I thought that the price point he had was the average going for two rooms anyway. I figured that $800 per room was about right. My mom is on a walker and a wheelchair now so I needed the durability of Empire's carpet. I also liked the earthly tone so that the carpet is kept from stains and for low maintenance. Empire's carpeting has definitely met my expectations and I was satisfied. They did a good job and I'm happy with them.

We had 3 rooms and a hall installed with laminate in July 2017. At the time of the sale, the salesman had indicated that it would not be possible to install anything but a floating floor unless we installed a new subfloor. We were willing to install the new subfloor but he said that Empire doesn't do that, we'd need a contractor because that's like construction. He assured us that the floating laminate would be fine. Less than one year later, I contact Empire...no response. I contact Empire again and the customer service person found it strange I hadn't heard and said he'd send my inquiry to the manager. No response. I called my salesman who asked for a picture. I sent pictures.
No one even came to look at the actual floor. I get an e-mail - not the courtesy of a call and they refuse to repair the laminate that is being pushed up by what seems to be nails or something coming through the floor. This was not happening prior to installation but is sure happening now. Empire refuses to repair but will give me a price for repair! TERRIBLE!! Never heard again from the deceptive salesman either. Installation FANTASTIC!!! The crew who removed flooring and installed were EXCEPTIONAL. Unfortunate experience and I'm certainly not done yet with Empire but please...ask the right questions when dealing with this company because they are VERY invested in the quick sale at your home but not so invested in keeping you happy afterward. One would have thought they could have at least called me back. I'll add addendum if I make any progress with this complaint.
Updated on 06/05/2018: I had a large job done by Empire Today in July, 2017. Earlier this year, I wrote a review informing other potential customers that the while the process of buying and installing went well, once I reported that we have a problem with the flooring, there has been no acceptable response. After my first review, Empire responded and put us in contact with someone who eventually (after some confusion and cancelled appointment) came out. That appointment was in March, 2018 and in June, I have not heard.
I have reported this and was told that they said the repair was completed 2 weeks prior. Untrue. We never had the repair and Empire Today has yet to respond to my follow up calls to Customer Services. If you are in Massachusetts or Connecticut and thinking about using Empire Today, DO NOT. The early process is convincing to make the sale, follow up and standing by their product - AWFUL!!! Very disappointing and regrettably, I have 2 rooms and a hall that have flooring that is popping up and have not had a successful response from Empire Today. BEWARE.

Empire Today is advertised a lot and they have quick installation. I also considered the product itself. The only thing that I was a little bit disappointed in was when the girl came out to demonstrate the different patterns and colors, she didn’t have very many to choose from. She only had six and I’m not able to shop around so I just picked the carpet that I thought I really like and went with that. Otherwise, I would have probably chosen something with a little flexi color. But none of those had any color in them. Still, I’m very happy with the new carpet I got in my living room. I like the color, the texture and everything that came with it.

Horrible experience, lack of education to customers and very frustrating experience. Sale person was very friendly, working hard to give us a good deal for installing carpet of 3 bedrooms, hallway, living room, dining room and stair to basement. I told him we have couple areas that making squeaking noise and he said "no problem, we can fix it". Never mention or ask us about what kind of floor we have underneath the old carpet. Never tell us about our floor could make more squeaking noise after the install done. We have one 78 year old man and 4 women 73, 55, 53 & 40 at our house.
We had to packed, moved almost everything except very big items. We even moved all the dresser drawers so it will be easy for installer to move when install. When installer took out the old carpet, we saw the hardwood floor. About one inch width. The installer told us they only have big screw for plywood is not going to work with hardwood floors. So we didn't screw the floor. They never warn/tell us about, the floor going to make more noise. We have no experience on flooring, we didn't think with all of these heavy scraping staples, heavy banding new staples to the floor and putting new thick pad & new carpet it making our floors making more squeaking noise.
"Now every step we walk on our floors it making louder squeaking noise. Some of us live in the basement and it's hard to stay and sleep in our bedrooms nowadays. When we have guests come over, all we can think of our floors making noise. We didn't even think about show off our new carpet, after we had our old carpet for almost 20 years". We called customers service to have someone to check our floors, the installer came walk around about 2 minutes and told us they have to pull all carpet out and put screws on the floor. He will tell his manager and have him call us. 3 days later nobody call, I called back again, these frustrating phone calling last about a month and installer came 3 times (2 different person).
2nd time is the same thing, doing nothing, walk around and left less than 5 minutes. Customers service keep telling me putting screw on the floor not going to work, because there a plywood underneath the hardwood floor. She suggested we have "humidifier" to help the floor, I'm not sure what is she thinking, having humidifier turn on 24/7, 365 days. The 3rd time we asked installer to tried to put screw on the floor, to see if it works and it did. We willing to damage our hardwood floors to make the squeaking noise go away, but now Empire want $500. We told her we can only afford $200, she said it not even enough for screw. So we told her we will pay for the screw, they bring labors.
Now she saying they have to bring 2 person for one day of work is $500. "All she thinking of their labor's cost, how about our labor's. We have to pack our 3 bedroom, living room and dining room with 5 old people in our house." All of these last about 2 months, my "ulcer" came back. I haven't call them for 3 weeks now, still trying to get grip of my ulcer. I'm still not sure what to do next. I think Empire should pay for all of these, the sale man said, "No problem. We can fix the squeaking noise." Customers service said, they only cover the carpet, which we never get to enjoy it.
Jintana, we're sorry your installation experience didn't go well. We'll be contacting you shortly to address your concerns.

Would NOT recommend Empire Today. We had one problem after another. Carpet was not installed properly (not tracked down in several rooms & cut/pieced together in one of our closets. They also installed our bathroom flooring over some of their materials causing a bump in the flooring). They were not timely & did not deliver & install as promised at the time of sale. My husband ended up helping remove our old padding and put all our furniture back just so the installers could leave our house at a decent time (10pm, this happened more than once). In addition, once the snow melted, a mess of cigarette butts to clean up in our yard. Their resolution for our inconvenience of installation problems spanning 3 months and spending about $10k, refund us $300, that is not acceptable. This was decided by their Admin as I left a message for their CFO.

I wanted hardwood floors in the kitchen because I put new counters and back splash in. So I got a hold of the lady that I worked with before and she came over and showed me samples of hardwood. Then I selected and we went with it. I live in New York and the guys who installed it drove up from Connecticut. It's like a three-hour ride to come and install it, which surprised me because I assumed that Empire would use somebody more local. The English of the guys that came in was not great, but we didn't have to talk a lot and their work habits were excellent. They worked hard and they did a great job. The flooring looks great and I like that I don't have to wash it and I just use a dry sweeper on it.

My granddaughter had used Empire and I’ve always heard of Empire on the television. I was just mad at the beginning because they were gonna cut it outside and I said, “You can’t. It’s raining and it’s been raining and it’s been snowing all through the month of March. It still hasn’t stopped it would still be wet out there.” They kept telling me they were gonna come as soon as it ended. I said, “Don’t bother because it’s not gonna end.” And it didn’t. So the lady called and she said that their worker would cut it at the store. So he came and they had to bring it over and then they took away all the old carpeting and then he finished the whole job in two days. It was great. It turned out real nice. I’m very happy with them now.
My granddaughter had similar carpet though it was lighter. She used it upstairs at her house. I want it for my living room, dining room, hallway, office room and upstairs. So I took a shade darker it looks perfect. Everybody that has seen it loves it. I recommend it. If you have a driveway that’s big enough for them to cut the carpeting or if they have weather that’s good enough they can do that. But not for me. But I was very pleased with the end result. I’d do it again except I’d have to tell them in the beginning it has to be cut at the office. The way they said it I didn’t think it could be.

Had a salesperson come out and give me an estimate. Specifically told him the only way I would do the project was if they fixed the part of the subfloor that was bad and was told that yes they do that and that it would not be a problem. Day comes for the install and once they have got up to where the bad spot was at I was told they do not do that. So I try to call the salesman to no avail. Call the 800 Empire number and I am told, "Oh we don't do subfloor." Asked to speak to a manager and was told someone would call me within 24hrs. So then the salesperson calls me back and I tell him the situation and he says, "Oh we don't do subfloor," and I said, "Well you added it in on the price and it is on my receipt," and he hangs up on me. Then the local installation manager calls me and tells me they don't do that and I asked then why is it on my receipt. He then says he will get it taken care of.
Call installation manager back around noon the next day and I am told he is working on it but that I would probably have to do it myself (which is why I remind you I hired them in the first place). So to today the next day. Try to call the manager again, but now he is not answering his phone. So as looks like I will be contacting my Lawyer.

Originally was told it would be 150 to come and repair gouge in the hardwood they originally installed. Which was a lie as they sent someone who couldn’t explain how they would repair due language problem. They were late and didn’t know how to explain how the problem would be rectified. Just worried about the 150. But they had dirty shoes and put dirty hands on a wall that can’t be washed. Empire will not return my 150 which I feel they should as they lied about the whole process.

In the living room, we had a hardwood floor put in and then in the three bedrooms and our stairway, we had carpet put in, and everything looks good. The product was also good and the price was excellent. Empire Today had a special going on at that time and they sent their sales rep out to the house. He did very good. He brought the products in and he was able to show us everything we wanted to see. We sat down to talk about it and then we made the decision to go with them. He took his measurements and it was basically done quickly.
The install was very good and we were really pleased. But when they did the original install on the carpet, the installer did not have enough carpet for the stairway. He asked me if they ever talked to me about binding the edges of the carpet and I said no. He said he would make notes on everything and send it back to Empire so Empire would know that they need to come back out here and install the stairway. But two weeks went by and we didn’t hear anything.
Then we called up on it and I don’t know what happened at the main office but they dropped the ball on that. It was, “Oh yeah, we see that now.” Right after that, they were out there quickly and finished up the stairway. But the company down here that runs out of Tampa, Florida didn’t use the person they used for the binding of the edges anymore. So we went ahead and just had the top done on like we had originally on the carpet before this, which looks good. The only thing that upset us was the waiting period and the fact that we had to call back to get it done. Nonetheless, I’ve recommended Empire Today to several people who were looking for flooring.

We had LVP installed in our home. LVP was 100% waterproof so we would not have any issues like if we spill a drink and the floor would swell up. We considered Lowe’s and Home Depot, but they just didn't have their ducks in a row, and Empire Today did. We had a very good crew that did the installation. There were a couple of hiccups. The warehouse shorted them a box of flooring and then they had to get the approval, but they solved the problem and they got it done the same day. About eight weeks before that, we also had another installation on another house we own, and the installation company they contracted was terrible.
The subcontractors came to our other house was three hours later than they were supposed to and it took them 10 hours for a job that should have taken only five hours, and then they had to come back for three hours the next day. It was a mess. Then where the carpet met the break in the room and they weren't prepared for that and it was still not right. Then they had to send the carpet company to stretch the carpet because the original group had it too short, and when the stretcher was put on it, it made a mark on my wall. Also, all the nails that were in the poured around molding, half of them are sticking out. So there was a significant amount of stuff that I was not happy with this installation. Other than that, I was happy with the latest one. The guys who installed the LVP were very nice and were very good craftsmen.

Three areas of concern: I had specific requests that fell on deaf ears: regarding how I wanted the old wood floor in living room and hall to blend with new kitchen floor - both other rooms on either side of the kitchen floor. Second, I noticed as I'm now painting the wall/baseboards, the floor in one area did not extend under baseboard, it stopped short of baseboard that was noticeable only if close to the wall. Finally, the flooring is a poor grade. The floor dents easily: if you drop a knife or pot on the floor. My old floor was Bruce, does not compare!

I have a vinyl rug installed through Empire Today. I considered another place which has been there for umpteen years but they were a little more expensive than Empire. The Empire rug also had a good backing. I have it from the front door through the kitchen because it looks like hardwood floors. And I've had my carpet come to the door facing but it doesn't come all the way because I got tired of putting carpet with the little round cut-out things and then you just step off of them right onto the carpet.
So the way this is, when you come in, you just walk right on the same thing. It's all in one piece from the kitchen into the living room. Then my carpet goes back after that. But where the stuff went up to the carpet, when they cut it, it cut a little piece. Then I had to have this little wood stripping that went down it and that covered it so you don't see it. But they kind of snagged it out a little bit there but that piece comes down over it so you don't see it. They didn't leave any of the tiles. Even I could've put a little piece and patched it. I wondered why they didn't.
I also had to talk to somebody about what can I do to clean it. All I've done is just take a damp mop. I haven't put any kind of cleaner or anything on it because I was afraid. When I called on the phone and asked somebody about it she said that she would send me a pamphlet. I couldn't really understand them. They were very nice and one could speak English good but the other one talked everything to him in their language. But I like my flooring. It blends in with my cabinets real good.

We have a two bedroom apartment and we couldn’t afford to put carpet on the whole thing so we just did the dining room, the living room, and the hallway. We felt that Empire was a more established company and they had an interest-free financing so we went with them. We could also do that with the other company we were considering, but we would have to go through an outside source. So we went with Empire because everything was inclusive with them. Also, Empire presented its carpet in a more professional manner than the other company that just showed flashes which were thrown out on the floor rather than presenting it in the kind of binders that they used.
We felt a little bamboozled, too, because Empire's presentation was filled with song and dance. They showed us what we wanted then we couldn't afford it so we had to go with the last choice which turned out to be not the kind of quality that we wanted. Once we got the carpet, we could see that it was the same quality as the people we were going to go with but the price was double. That’s where the disappointment was. Instead of being more upfront, there was all of the “If you did it this way, you could get this. Then, if you did it that way, you could get this.” We would have gone with the more expensive choice but there was not a good selection of color.
It was also disappointing not being able to communicate with the installers who came out because they didn’t speak English. We were trying to indicate to them that we just had our paint job so they should be careful. But we ended up with finger prints on the wall and slices on our flooring when they were slicing the carpet. Other than that, it’s nice to have new carpets. And because we know that the quality is not very good and it will quickly degrade, we’re kind of walking around on eggshells and we're very conscientious of putting runners all over the place. I would tell my friends that if they're going with Empire, they should watch the installers that they're going to get to make sure that they are doing what is expected. They should also be careful not to let the salesperson lead them down the way that is not what they want and make sure that they keep a broad sense of what Empire's offering.
We're sorry to hear that your experience was not five-star worthy. We'll be further investigating your concerns, and we'll be in touch with you soon.

But this time, I was not happy with the installation. They scraped up the walls and they were rude about it.
They took the paint off the walls when they installed the carpet. When I said something to them, they tried to tell me I bought cheap paint. Then the installer took the carpet and showed me how it was so easy to scrape off of the walls, but I was trying to tell him that the carpet shouldn’t even have touched the walls. I had to retouch up my walls and I wasn’t happy with that. I said something to Empire and then somebody did call me to ask me about the install. I told them, and they didn’t say anything. Then I contacted him and told him to go ahead with the job. I had them install the shutters for me and they were done earlier than they thought. The shutters enhance the look of my townhouse. I’m going to use them again. I've also recommended them.

We had dealt with Empire Today on previous projects and we were happy with their installation. This time, we had them put in blinds on all the windows of our home. So far, the new blinds have met my expectations. My favorite thing about them is that there are no cords. I just push them up or pull them down with my hands. Empire Today's price is also comparable to other brands. If people would ask me about Empire Today, I'll tell them not to hesitate to use them.

I had wood floors and I knew I wanted to get rid of them and go back to carpet. I was watching TV then I saw the little man hopping around the carpet, and I said that was where I'd go. So I called Empire Today and the young man came out and had samples. He was extremely nice and made me feel very welcome. What he had was what I wanted, so I had Empire install a new flooring in my kitchen, both bathrooms, and my entire house.
The people that came out to take care of the job were very impressive and they did a marvelous job. They looked like professional workers and they moved all the furniture. I was so taken back because I had taken all the stuff off my beds except my skirts because my husband and I couldn't lift the mattresses. They took them all down, then they had to to take flooring up and put the other items back. When they put the beds back together, they also put the skirts on very nicely. They were very conscientious about what they were doing and they handled everything very nicely. Then they did the flooring in the kitchen and the bathroom one day, and the rest of the house the next day. They left the place very clean and I couldn't have asked for more.
I like the padding of my new flooring. If I walk with my bare feet on it, it feels so good. I also love the flooring they put in my kitchen and bathrooms. They called it plank and it looks almost like white birch. It has a texture of wood, but is not wood. It's rubberized and it's waterproof. I know a couple of people who were thinking of flooring and I told them I'd be happy to give them the number of the young man from Empire that came out and talked to me. I'm also happy for them to come and look at what I got because I'm very proud of it.

I had Empire Today install something in my kitchen and the entries that were in the door, and the result was good. Also, the representatives were good. Empire and the other companies have the same prices and I expected they were going to be on sale but there was not much on sale. They also claim on TV that you’ll be sent 75% off but it was not true. I have another kitchen I want to get done but I’m trying to see if they still have the 75% off. Overall, Empire was very professional and they did the job. They didn’t break anything.

We had carpeting installed by Empire Today in our family room, living room, dining room and our four bedrooms. We had prior experience with Empire Today and we decided to go with them again because of the speed of the installation. Their salesman understood what we wanted to do and he taught us a lot about carpeting. The carpet we had installed was stain resistant and I like the color that I picked. But the teams the did the installation were misaligned this time. Three guys came to do the family room, living room, and the dining room and it was all done in an hour and a half. The following day, only two guys came to do the four bedrooms and it was a larger project and it took them five hours to do the installation. Other than that, the carpeting has met my expectations and I have told my neighbor about Empire Today.

Stay away from this company at all cost. Even if they offer you free service, it's not worth it. You will regret it a great deal. Imagine this: They reschedule installation several times, because installers show up with not enough material all those times. They will apologize, but that's not going to restore your wasted days off from work, nor will it help you with moving the furniture back and forth multiple times. Eventually, they install your new floors, and, post factum, tell you that you can't wash or vacuum them, nor do anything on them normal floors are intended for. With time you will learn that you can't live on your new floors, you pretty much have to live around them, in order to keep them undamaged. But that's not going to stop the wear and damage. And your life becomes a nightmare.
You become obsessed and don't let anyone walk on them with shoes on; but in two months you see the first obvious signs of wear. You try to convince yourself that's normal and go on with your life only to see how your new floors are deteriorating in front of your eyes. After four months you contact Empire and request warranty service. They will send out "experts," two different people different times (apparently, they don't trust their own people). Both experts acknowledge wear/damage and tell you that Empire will take care of it. But they do nothing. And you reach out to their executive management to no avail. And now you are stuck with low-quality, damaged and disgusting floors, that are much worse than once you have replaced. Nice job, Empire! How are you still in business?! And the bottom line for the potential customer: do yourself a favor, run far and run fast from this unreliable and dishonorable company.
This is not the experience that we wish for our customers, and we'll be further investigating your concerns.
Thank you.

I checked Empire Today and the store down the street from my house. I went with Empire and they stayed right on time. Their man came out 2 days later to do the estimate and measure. He was a very nice guy. He came in with the right carpet and quality to show me, we showed him what we wanted, and he worked with us. Then I contacted Empire and we bought the carpet off with a good deal, and they gave us a percentage off. Everything worked out right and I was very impressed with everything.
Then the guys came out, and they took the time on it and did a good job. I was very satisfied with everything. However, there was a couple of tacks that was sticking up so they came back a week later. I thought that they would go down so I gave them time. But they didn’t go down, so I called them and they were here right in the morning the next day. They fixed them. One of the rails in my staircase was loose and they even glued it and tightened it up for me. One guy looked around and he didn’t see any problems, so I trust him. I'm legally blind so I couldn’t go over the flooring as well as everybody else could have, but if I come across something that’s wrong within a couple of weeks then I would appreciate it if they would help me. Right now, everything has been very good and I'm very happy with the flooring.
I would definitely recommend Empire Today. My family used to say another place but I said, “I got a place too. I'd use Empire. They're very respectful, reliable, and they're very cooperative.” It was a very good experience and there was no sneaking around and no breaking. They were very experienced. Their supervisors also called up and asked me how the installers were doing and I told them that they're doing great and everything’s going good. There was nobody taking off going to the stores, nobody was stopping, and everybody was working and nice with a smile.

We didn’t like the quality of tiles we had in the house when we purchased it. We were thinking about several options, but we decided to go with Empire Today. We watched TV ads and asked some people that already installed products from Empire Today and that helped us make our decision. Empire Today seems to be a good quality product. I had tile installed in some areas and carpet in others. The flooring is fair. It seems to be stain resistant. But I don't like the carpet, it's too dirty. The installers were professionals. I had some tiles set down in my kitchen, and it's a new type of tile. I had that same pattern and I had gone to Lowe's to get it, but I would've had to hire a person to come in and cut the stones. When I had Empire come out and give me an estimate, the stone that I had matched what they had to offer. And they had a special going on at the time so I took advantage of that special.
The flooring looks like ceramic tiles but it's not. It's marble and it's beautiful. It blends in with my cabinets and everything in here. I also had brand new carpeting put on the steps, though they might want to do a little bit tighter weave with that carpet. When they set up the steps, I noticed that it's more of a shag type of carpeting and I thought it should have been a tighter weave. But the service was impeccable. They did everything they were supposed to do. They cleaned up behind themselves and put my furniture back like it was supposed to be. They did a wonderful job. When I get this paid off, I will consider going back and doing the rest of the downstairs. I've already recommended Empire.

My husband and I purchased hardwood floors through Empire Today back in December 2015. This past December 2017 I started noticing splits and cracks in the flooring. I contacted Empire and they sent someone out to look at it. The person said they never saw anything like it. He said Jan 2018 is their slow time and someone would come out to fix the problem boards. At the time there was about 20 boards messed up. In January the installer came out around 4 in the afternoon. By then there was about 50 problem boards. He said he could not do it because it would take too long and it looks like the entire flooring should be replaced. So I called Empire back. They scheduled me for another date. The installer Rich ** came out to do the work and he also said it was a lot of work and he contacted Empire because he did not know what to do about all the problem boards.
Finally after a few weeks Empire contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent out an inspector to look at the floor. He took some test. I asked him what is causing it. He said he was not able to tell me even though I was the customer. I have made plenty of call to Empire (Kris **) left messages and it took at times a week to get back to me. Finally last week Kris called and said the manufacturer denied the claim. He said it was due to low humidity in the house. I asked him for the report. He emailed it to me. What he failed to tell me was that the inspector also said the flooring was not acclimated to the house. This was not done prior to installing the floors. He said he would check with the bosses because he did not think it had to be done prior to installing.
Tim ** the regional manager called me and said it does not have to be done in my house because it was already done at the warehouse. I asked him for an email stating this and he said no. He said the customer knows that it is a next day service. From what I have been reading on the internet hardwood floors needs to be at the least 96 hrs acclimate in the house. prior to installing the hardwood. This was definitely not done. If I ever have anything this major done I will check on the customer reviews before I sign the papers. I have been reading plenty of reviews about Empire and I now know I am not the only one with problems from this company. If anyone asked me about my flooring I will discourage them from going with this company. I will let them know the terrible customer service that I received.

Confused, I waited for an explanation as the representative waited for a response. I said “so what does that mean for me today?” She says “well, no one will come out today because they are booked”. At that moment I advised her that I didn’t want to get upset and if I can please reschedule another appointment. She said, "Sure. Next appointment would be Thursday." I asked for a later time (for when I got off) due to missing out of work that day for no one to show or even give me a courtesy call. She scheduled me for 5pm to 7pm that following Thursday.
Well hello. Today is Thursday March 15th... my 2nd appointment time @ 8:26pm to be exact. I called Empire Today 3 times throughout the day to be proactive so that someone will be scheduled to come out and do measurements. All 3 times each representative stated that they didn’t see anyone scheduled yet but it can possibly be because my appointment was at a later time that maybe it will be in later. I advised that I will then gladly call back around 3-4pm to check to see if someone will be scheduled to come to my home. A lot of time and effort to spend my money with Empire Today right?, yeah I thought that too. I gave them yet another call closer to 4pm and you guessed it NO ONE IS SCHEDULED TO COME OUT TO MY HOME AGAIN. They then asked if I wished to reschedule, AGAIN.

The caller said they couldn’t locate the rep all day and apologized. I thought, “no problem; there must have been an emergency of some sort.” I heard nothing more. The next day I called back and rescheduled and was happy to accept a $50 inconvenience credit. I also wrote an email inquiring about their current sale, worried I’d miss the opportunity. I never received a reply. Well, the time of my rescheduled appointment came and went without a sales rep appearing or calling. It wasn’t after I replied via email that I got a call from the company.
I guess I was supposed to be thankful they didn’t make me wait around ALL DAY instead of all morning. The call came at 12:46 p.m. I was asked if I wanted to reschedule my appointment. Well my wife and I wanted to shop around and get some quotes to have carpet installed, so we started off with Empire Today with plans to shop around and compare quotes. Right away our plans were spoiled when our salesman (who I will name in a later post after our carpet is installed) told me that the price would go up if we shopped around and caused him to come back, because he would have to factor in the price of his time and gas into the price of the sale (insane). Then he continued to tell me the history of the company, (no big deal, he’s a salesman) but he wouldn’t stop looking my wife up and down. I’m not a sensitive man by any means and I let everything slide right off of my back, but this man wasn’t even trying to hide what he was doing.
My wife was so uncomfortable that she was standing behind me while I sat across from him at the table to keep him from looking. Well then she went to check on my kids and he continued to follows her butt the entire way and I finally said “SIR!” To get his attention and I pointed at his tablet as to say, "Let’s focus, man". He told me he was just looking at my kids which were almost behind him so he was clearly lying and let him know that he was lying. I had to sit in my own house steaming mad at this guy for his behavior hoping it would get better.
Nope!!! My 1yr old comes in the room and pulls my wife’s shirt over her head, so my wife says, “Stay out of my shirt!”, the salesman then says, “Yeah, that’s daddy's job”. My jaw dropped. I text my wife and told her to go upstairs with the kids because I didn’t want them around this perverted salesmen. We did everything to just get this guy out of the house and speed up the process. I had them install wooden planks with a light color and were six inches wide. There were two installation guys, and one guy had a hard time talking English while the other guy could talk both languages. But they were quick and good. They ran out of part of the flooring that they thought they had enough of, and part of it was a different kind. So they had to wait till the next day and come back with the right kind to finish the job, which was more of a problem for them than me. I also forgot to ask them what to use to clean it with, 'cause I have a dog and he's a little bit messy when he drinks. I just clean it with water. Overall I would recommend them, but I wish I would've done a shade or two darker. It's a little too light, but I didn't want to have the house look dark inside when it's starting to get dark.

We scheduled three rooms to be carpeted. We were guaranteed that the installation would be completed in one day. The installers arrived at 4:00 in the evening on the scheduled day of installation. They were careless in moving the furniture and at 7:00 we received a phone call from the installation coordinator that the installers ran out of carpet. The installation coordinator assured us that the remaining carpet would be installed between 8:00 and 10:00 the next morning (Saturday, March 10th). At 9:00 Saturday morning, an installer called to inform us that he would arrive between 3:00 and 5:00 in the afternoon. At 5:00 the installer still had not arrived. The installation coordinator explained that the installer ran into some issues with other installations that day and the earliest he could arrive would be 7:00 in that evening. We offered that, if it helped, we would wait until Sunday afternoon (1:00 at the earliest and 2:00 at the latest).
The installation coordinator then texted us that the installer would arrive at 1:00 Sunday afternoon. When 1:00 Sunday afternoon arrived the installer did not arrive. We waited an hour and texted the installation coordinator that the installer had not arrived, but no response. At 3:00, the installer still had not arrived. We texted the installation coordinator once again, pointing out that we waited two hours and asking if the installers were coming, again, no response. At 4:00 we texted the installation coordinator that the installers had not come and no one had communicated with us.
So, we contacted Customer Service to report our disappointment. Customer Service listened to our story (reviewed above) and filed two claims with "corporate." On Monday morning, at 7:30, the installer called to say he would arrive in 45 minutes. The installer arrived and was surprised that there would be furniture to move (he was alone with no help). He finished installing the carpet and our son helped us replace the furniture (there was a great deal of it). It is Tuesday and we have yet to hear from anyone at "corporate." A Customer Service Representative has called us and we related our story to her (reviewed above). We are still exhausted from this experience and feel so disappointed. It has affected the joy we should be experiencing with the completion of our carpet update.

We were so excited about our new carpet. Unfortunately, Empire Today successfully shot to hell any and all joy we found in getting our new carpet. Our horrendous experience began with a few unfriendly and gruff personalities that had an apparent discomfort with dealing with homosexuals. We were immediately informed that while we had scheduled this appointment for having the entire upper level in our home completed in addition to a stair runner, that we couldn't get our stair runner completed. Numerous excuses were made for the inability to complete said job. They proceeded then to scratch both bannisters and several of our walls while attempting to carry carpet upstairs.
Furthermore, they continued to leave our door wide open to the outside. This was not during the unloading and loading period, this was during the entire duration of the day as the door was left open for over 20 minutes at a time. Because of this, I had the privilege of chasing my pets around the neighborhood. Finally, despite having paid for the hauling away of our carpet, we were informed that the carpet could not, in fact, be hauled away and less than 20% was actually disposed of, leaving the rest of the square footage to be carried to the curb by yours truly. We then spent the next several weeks trying to get ahold of anyone to speak within customer service.
While they may tell you they work from 7a-4p M-F, don't believe them. No one answers the phone or when they do they promptly disconnect from your call when they "place you on hold." When you DO finally speak to their representatives, you'll find it will be 10:30 in the morning and they're "just leaving for the day." They're unprofessional, they're rude, they're not helpful and they have no desire to perform any customer service recovery. A month later and we STILL have not heard about our carpet runner and we've received $59.00 credit from the over $4000 we've spent on carpet. Shame on you Empire. You're a disgrace. NEVER GO HERE!
We're sincerely apologize for your experience, and assure you that we take your concerns seriously. We'll continue to follow up with you until a solution is reached.

Empire Today has higher quality product at a lower price. The representative that came to interview us and see what we wanted was very nice. He didn't take forever. We were undecided about what color we wanted at that time but he gave us time to make up our minds. He didn't pull any punches, and he was very honest and upfront, and we appreciated that. I got wood flooring from them and their installers were very quick. I couldn't ask for a nicer installation and it was all done in one day. I had it installed in the living room, hallways, foyer, three bedroom, and closets. It's pretty and very easy to keep clean. It's easy to move furniture on it compared to the wall-to-wall carpeting. It's very nice and we like it very, very much. I would recommend them.

Empire Today laid down our carpet really nice, but I'm pissed off with the experience I’m still going through with the banner. When Kenny came here to put the banner down, he saw a soft spot and told me that we need to take care of that. He then told me that as soon as the handyman did that wood part, he would come back and install my banner. So after we had somebody take care of that, I called Kenny directly like he said. He told me that he would call me as soon as he gets to the office. But, he did not return the call. On top of that I called their office that evening and they said that my order has been cancelled. We didn't tell anyone to cancel my order. We've paid on the card and I wouldn’t have known that they cancelled my order if I didn't call.
I like that banner that I have picked out that’s why I wanted it. I told the rep to put me back on and I was told that they would put me back on schedule. The next time I heard from them they said that they have somebody who might install our banner. But when they called me Monday evening, they said that the installer forgot the banner at the warehouse in Atlanta, Georgia. I said, “What? You had me on schedule and they forgot the banner?” The rep said it was an oversight. And then the next time they called me, they said they couldn’t find the material. So, I asked the rep, “What kind of business are you all running?” Every time I've called them, they've given me the runaround. Right now, I got my kitchen turned upside down and the sink out of my kitchen is a big mess. I have to find somebody else to try to put my floor back together.
Empire Today showed me how much they value me by lying to me and how much my little money count to them. They also showed me that with what they've done to me, there would be other ones that they could do this too. And if they keep on doing that, they're going to lose a lot of business because I would not recommend Empire Today to anyone.
Ms. Johnson, We’re sorry to hear about the problems you've had with your installation. That's not how we want our installations to go. We want to learn more about what happened and work with you to make things right. We’ll be contacting you directly to help.

I set up a sales appointment and was told they'd come between 3 and 6, at 5:30 I get a call that they can't come, so I rescheduled. Someone comes the next day, this should have been the easiest installation since I was just matching the floors Empire did in my basement. The saleswoman mistakenly scheduled the appointment for the next day after I told her I would need it done on a Saturday so the installers came when I wasn't here. Also there was no record that I was financing the floors. Got that straightened out, waited ALL day Saturday (they give you a ridiculous window of 8-6) for them not to show. No one called. I contacted customer service, they had a job with "more furniture to remove than they thought" (why is that my problem?) so I rescheduled for Monday, it's 3:45 and they still aren't here and no one can reach them. I asked for a discount, thus far no one's called me back.
It amazes me how dead customer service is. These companies act as if they are doing YOU a favor instead of you paying thousands for their services. I contacted the salesperson, nothing. I just get these pathetic apologies from salespeople for my wasted time. One thing you should know about Empire, they contract out their salespeople and the people who do your floors. Their communication is horrid. Don't use them! If they don't show today I am cancelling with them.
We assure you that this is not the experience that we wish for our customers, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We understand that your order has been cancelled, if you continue to have questions or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com.

WHERE DO I START. I ordered vinyl flooring and carpet. The salesman was very misleading. The carpet came the wrong color. I let it slide. The installer never replaced door guides and transition strips took three weeks for an appointment. When they called they said they will be here in the afternoon so I took the dog to the vet. At 9 am the tech calls me 20 min later and said no one’s home. Call back and nothing. Now the flooring techs were great but the salesman didn't do his job. My wife and I had flooring done a few years ago and we decided to get the rest of the downstairs done and wanted it to match color and height wise paid for it but when it was done I had two levels of flooring with bulky strips to cover the difference.
The customer service told me to take pictures so they can review them and nothing no word from them. It was their mistake but I have to jump through hoops to get anything done. Empire should of sent someone to my house to get it not have the customers do it. I myself paid upfront. This will never happen again. It seems as soon as they got their money you don't matter. So with that being said never again will I use or recommend EMPIRE TO ANYONE. IF YOU DO USE THEM DONT PAY UPFRONT. Wait till everything is done and to your satisfaction then pay.

Empire Today installed carpet in the living room, dining room, and the hallway of my home. I was able to almost duplicate what I had before, and what they installed was better than what I had. The carpeting and the underlayment were much better. When you walk on it, it's like you're walking on sponges. I'm very satisfied with the installation. It was good and the two guys who did it were friendly, but I didn’t like having to do the repair afterward. I had my walls freshly painted before they came here, and they damaged three walls.
All in all, it was a good experience, but then a few days later, they had someone call me for a follow-up and he had such a thick accent. He had to repeat everything four times, and that was most annoying. I had company, and I asked if he could call me back in an hour and he said, “No. Let's do it right now. It'll only take a minute.” They should never have someone who can't speak English to call for a survey.

Since 2013 this would be our third time using Empire for our same residence. In 2017 we had carpet installed. We loved the carpet so much we wanted to have it installed in the remaining bedrooms. We made an appointment and the same sales rep returned from last year. I mentioned I wanted the exact same carpet that we had installed less than a year ago to be carried in the bedrooms. She said easy enough as I have the same carpet in my home and easy enough. She mentioned that an install could take place the following week which was suffice.
Fast forward to the day of install which the window is 8am-6pm. It is now 2:30pm and no word from Empire. Finally I made a call to customer service who alerted me that they would be arriving by 4:30pm to start the install. I said that I had three small children and as long as they could be complete by 6pm window that is fine. It is now 3:30 and I receive a call now from the local dispatch (Jimmy **) who informs me that they now are canceling for today's install. I said that was fine but due to the inconvenience I expected extra some form of compensation. He had the audacity to say, “We will give you $100 off of a $2700 order”... really? I said for him to do better than that due to the inconvenience and call me back.
At this point I start to move all of the furniture and items out of the bathrooms back to the bedrooms and getting my house back to normal since my kids were going to bed soon. While I am doing this my phone is ringing and Jimmy proceeds to tell me that they are actually able to make it now and will be here close to 5pm. I said this won't happen and this is unacceptable and asked him how they were fixing this situation. His exact words were... "Sir there is no compensation any further so don't even ask since we are now in the original window." I was furious that I hung up. Soon after there comes the workers who show up. They come in the House much to my dismay and ask to see the space they are working with. I show them all three bedrooms and they say they won't be able to finish this today. I said, “Well why did you come then?” He said, “Well let me get started and see how far we get”.
At this time it's dark outside and my kids are ready for bed. Also may I point out that the rooms he was installing had no lights due to renovations so not sure how they installed in the dark. Also isn't formal protocol is to when they arrive they are to present you with paperwork and show you the carpet to assure it’s correct? Yeah none of this. They proceeded to leave after only competing one room and also might I add they asked to use my vacuum to clean up their mess and clogged it up. The installer said he would be back the following morning to finish the job. He then asks to keep all of the remaining carpet in my garage until tomorrow.
It's finally about 8:30. Was able to get my kids to bed but not before they are walking upstairs with nails and staples present all through the hall where the carpet wasn't even installed. Also their tools spread around the hallway left for everyone to trip on along with leaving a hall window open in the dead of winter. The next morning I call in sick to work since I now have to wait for the remainder of this install. When the sun comes up my wife and I are horrified to find out they installed the wrong color of carpet.
I figure I would wait for them to arrive THIS morning as stated the night prior. It is now 12 noon and no word... 1pm, 2pm nothing. I finally called customer service and they reach the installer who claims something came up. They now had to cancel even though I had to take off work and he assured me he would be there first thing in the morning. At this point I am just livid and try to reach anyone I can. I process to find my original sales person who seemed to refuse to call me back and would only text me. Based upon all of our texts throughout the day she stated my issues have been sent to multiple managers and GMs. All of them would be reaching out but not a peep from nobody.
I finally called customer service to file a formal complaint and when the service rep got the installer on the phone he wouldn't give her time. That he would be out. Her exact words was that she suggest I reach out to him to see when he was coming. I finally lost it and said, “How is it my job to track down your staff when I was the customer”. She then put me to a supervisor who made multiple calls and claims he wasn't able to get a hold of anyone locally but assured me someone would call me to address the situation. As mentioned, still not a word from the cowards of staff they call management.
The only call I got was dispatch Xavier stating they would put a new roll of carpet that is the correct carpet and installer would be there tomorrow. I said when I hung up I refused to sign the final paperwork until compensation was to happen. He said he would ask but still nothing from the cowards of management. This company has wrecked and railroaded my life and family’s life for the past three days due to their incompetence of staff they hire. At the end of the day DO not use Empire or trust any of the salespeople as they are all snakes in the grass and simply want your money and never to hear again.
We're sorry to hear about your experience. We'll be following up with you shortly to learn more.

We purchased carpet from Empire Today two times. We talked about Home Depot the first time around, but Empire had better deals. The first time, we had it installed in a house that we were selling, and it was the entire downstairs minus the kitchen and the bathroom. Price was the biggest factor in choosing the product that we bought. We didn't want to redo the stairs because of the price. So, we went with something that was very similar, but it ended up also being very cost-effective.
And then, for the second time, I called the same person who quoted us the first time and had her come back. We had two rooms done, the living room and one of the bedrooms. The previous owner was a heavy smoker and the carpets were disgusting. And we have a child that crawls, so we couldn't have that. Their installers were very professional. They came when they said they would come. Our house is hard to find, so I had to go find them. But he was 30 minutes early and he was like, "Hey, I'm looking for your place. I can't find you guys." Both times, they were very professional and very considerate of our time. It was a very pleasant experience. We would call them back if we needed to have something done. The only issue we had was that the guy's van broke down in our front yard, but my husband's brother was coming anyway and he was a tow truck driver. So, it turned out to be a win.

I've had carpets from Empire Today back in 2011, 2013 and recently, about a month or two ago. I like the ease of doing business with them. So far, everything is fine but the service is not the greatest. They also represent lifetime guarantees but none of that is true. When the carpets were put in, sometimes they stretch and they bubble, and they never want to come back for free and fix it. I also had a very bad experience about four or five months ago when my daughters brought a new dog home and the dog ate a piece of the carpet. All I wanted was someone to come in and repair it but I ended up buying a new carpet.
They wouldn't get someone to help me. Getting one of their installers to come and do a repair was the most impossible thing I've ever gone through. I've had people calling the customer service and made appointments and they didn’t show up. It was six weeks of wasted time. I ended up just buying a new carpet from them because it was the only way I can get them to help me. And the only reason I bought it from them was because the other places were just as bad. Nevertheless, Norm, the guy who came to my house was great. However, their service department makes me not want to recommend Empire Today at all.

The overall installation went okay, but I needed to make sure the guys got all the tools because they need the power tools, not screwdrivers.
Also, when they come out to show you the carpet, and if you want new tacks put down, they don’t tell you that they use the old tacks. On the day of installation and they were doing it, I was wondering why they were not breaking and changing the old tacks. That was when they said that they don’t put new ones in unless they charge me for them. I didn’t know that. So I didn’t make them put new tacks down. It's not the top, but it fits fine for me. Empire gets it done, and they got great guys that come out and do it. They did what they were supposed to do and I would use them again.

I recently bought an older unit in an RV park (trailer with attached Florida room) and wanted all carpeting replaced. Empire kept me informed, salesman showed on time, scheduling was easy and price was great. But installers really make or break a company - and Lucy and Alex saved the day. After pulling up old carpet there were issues. It was difficult install but they worked late first day and finished next and completely transformed this old place. They MADE me a believer. Had never called Empire before but will certainly REFER in future. Anyone else would have balked but Lucy and Alex - thanks for making this a beautiful place to live!

We had carpet installed Friday and my husband and I are pretty disappointed. The sales rep told us the installer would show us the carpet before installed, that never happened. The sales rep also said there would be 2 installers, one working on the steps and one on the main level, that was another false statement. After over 6 hours of installing one man finished the job and left a big mess, also left vents out that my husband had to try and fit back in, which involved cutting our new carpet. The actual carpet is beautiful but installation is terrible. If you look closely you can see the carpet not flush to the walls and actually see the pad peaking through, you can see seams and bubbling in some areas. After spending over $2000 and seeing really poor installation done we are extremely disappointed. Sales rep was awesome but made many false statements that actually never happened.

If I could give Empire Today zero stars, I totally would! Although the salesperson was great, the service was absolutely awful! My first appointment was cancelled due to the rain, as my townhome does not have a garage for them to cut the carpet. So, I gave them a pass; however, I left my new job a couple of hours early, so I could be home for the installation. The second time it was cancelled, because the installer wasn't answering their phone. The third time (today) was cancelled again, because another installer cancelled, again! I called and cancelled the carpet installation today.
I would NEVER recommend Empire Today to ANYONE!!! The huge company runs their business like it's a one-man operation, with limited resources. Had my carpet installation went according to plan, I would have gotten laminate flooring done downstairs. A total waste of my time; I wasted 2 Saturdays in a row waiting for the installers to show up. I'll will most certainly be using a more professional company to handle my flooring needs.
We know this has been a frustrating matter for you, and understand that your order has been cancelled. If you continue to have questions and/or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com.

This has been one of the worse experiences we have ever had with a company. We REALLY should have read ALL the reviews before calling to have a floor installed by Empire. We ordered our LVT back in October 2017 but had to wait until we closed on our house to have the floor installed - which put us to February 2018. When we called to see if we could get financing I was told that it had to go through our sales rep and he would call me that day. I had to call him 4 more time and still no return call. My husband called three days later and told them that we would cancel and go somewhere else, less than 5 minutes later we get the call! We were only doing the kitchen, but I decided to add a 5X5 bathroom with vinyl flooring.
Everything was set to go on a Friday, I wanted my husband to be here when the install was being done. We had friends help move things and get ready the day before they were to come when I get a call at 4pm letting me know that they had to reschedule because the materials didn't come in and would be there late Friday (they had the order since October and here it is Feb)! I told them that was ok but I wanted both floors done the same day, and I wanted the 8:00am appointment so this would be done and over with. I was told there would be 3 or 4 guys and could do this by the sales rep. So everything was put off until the following Friday and we made other plans.
The next morning I get a call from Empire at 7:45am that they are on their way to put the floor in - what the heck!! When I got hold of the installer he told me he was all set to go and I'm like what is going on. He told me he would call me right back and let me know what happened. It turns out that Brian only installs vinyl and he had the materials. He only does one job a day and I didn't want to mess him up so I told him to come on over. BRIAN WAS THE ONLY GOOD PART ABOUT THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE. He was very professional and he did a great job. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. When he was finished he had cleaned everything up and put things back together so that we could put the new vanity and toilet in the bathroom.
The following Friday I am expecting the installers to be here at 8:00am as promised - guess again. I finally get a call sometime after 9:00am that they should be here in about an hour!!! What could we do. When they finally showed up my husband walked through the area with them to be done and asked that they to pull up all the old flooring (which the sales rep said they would) because they had to level the floor. We were told that they were not told that by their supervisor and didn't have the materials. The paperwork read Embossing Leveler - YES. So now they had to take an hour and a half and go to Home Depot to pick up the materials which would make this an all day project. They blamed the office, the office blamed them and my husband and I were in the middle of this whole mess and we are the ones paying for this screw up.
It was almost 7:30 by the time they were done since there were only 2 guys and one was being trained. I was so tired by this time when I did the walkthrough I did not notice all the mistakes that were done. I have spent the last two days cleaning my stove, fridge, washer, dryer, walls and the new floor of glue, cement and dirt that was left. My husband is still trying to repair the floor where it was not done right. When they didn't have all the materials I called to complain and customer service did give a slight refund, but now they will not call us back regarding the crappy work that was done. As someone else said they have their money so what do they care. As I said before NEVER AGAIN! We would have done better to buy the materials somewhere else and done it ourselves. I don't ever give reviews but I was not going to let this one go. I hope when someone else reads this they think twice - I wish I had.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We're sorry to hear about your experience, and we'll be in touch with you soon.

The house was six years old and the original builders put in the lowest quality carpet they could. We were planning to repaint the walls in a particular room. And that point I said, rather than spend a whole lot of money on each other on Christmas like we used to do, we decided to spend the money on the house. So we redid one room. We had Empire Today install carpet in that room.
Empire Today got a good reputation and I know they do more than just carpet. We had a young lady out here and she did the measurements. She was very professional and not high pressure. And we had another area that I had her measure and estimate while she was here for installing either hardwood or laminate. At that time, we chose not to do that because we just couldn't afford all of it at once. But it was convenient that she was able to quote us both of them. The installation crew that they hired was fine. We got the product that we thought we were going to get and we have had no bad feelings about having made that decision now that we've done it.
However, the cost was slightly more expensive than it would have been if we had gone to Home Depot. That bothered me a little bit because this was the 30 30 30 sale. But we were happy with the product. My expectations aren't real high but I do have a certain set of things that I expect whenever I hire anybody to come in and do work. And the flooring met my expectations. Make sure that you wait until Empire is having a sale and make sure you get the best prices you can get.

We got a roof at the same time we were doing the flooring and the roofers were completely horrible. And pretty much every contractor over the past 15 years had been horrible. But the installers from Empire Today were the first people ever that were great. They were very efficient and nice. They made sure they didn’t mess stuff up and they cleaned up their mess. They're probably the best contractor that I've ever seen. We got the flooring installed in the whole house and I like that it's stain and water resistant. And the quality is great.

However I was told the job would take two days and they rushed it and did it in one day thus resulting in poor workmanship. Before (Kevin) and his crew left I mentioned to him that I did not like how worn some of the boards looked and he told me that they would come back out to fix them because he did not have time that day.
Three times I took days of work waiting for appointments that were scheduled for repair work and they failed to show up all three times. I had Empire Today install my tile flooring. I was in a very tight window when I needed to get it done and they were able to accommodate my time request. Their cost and quality was comparable with the other brands, but their selection was not, although it was okay for what I need. We want a tile that looks like wood and this tile flooring looks nice. I liked the way it looked.
I was supposed to get carpet from them as well. And since I have dogs, there was supposed to be some type of undercoat or padding under the main carpet, which would protect if the dogs went to the bathroom on the carpet. But the undercoat wasn’t there when it was delivered. When I called them, they said that the pad that they sent was fine, but I felt that it was like a bait-and-switch, so I wound up buying the carpet from somebody else even though I had intentionally planned to do it with them. But still, they're a good company. They have a lot of good things. The guys that were here were off the charts great. They were quick and efficient and they were the highlight of the process. The guys that did the work had a lot to do and they got it done quick, so I was happy. I'd tell my friends to give them a call.

The salesperson misrepresented the company and told us only Empire employees do the installs and this was not true. Upon installation they ran out of the product. I was told they would be back the next day with the product to finish the install. I took an extra day off work for them to come back and complete the install. It has now been a week and the flooring is still not complete. The subcontractors were unable to obtain the materials from the Empire warehouse and informed me they were not able to get paid until we sign off on the completed install.
Even though they did a great job on the part they completed the installers are unable to assist in getting this completed and directed me to the Empire customer service support. I’ve made numerous calls to Empire’s customer service support to get the issue resolved without any support. This includes being hung up on and being told I need to call back as the system can not be accessed after the representative told me the name of the flooring I was having installed. I was on the phone for 20 minutes just repeating “connect me to your manager” before I could speak with anyone that would try to work with me but again no resolution. I was also told that this issue would be escalated but again still no resolution.
I would like this issue to be handled amicably and just complete my flooring install. Unfortunately since I’m not getting any resolution I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and if need be I will also be getting my attorney involved. This is not the level of customer service I would expect for such a large and well known company, very disappointing.

Decided to use Empire Today to put new flooring throughout my entire house. The sales rep showed up and measured our floor layout, we decided on the product and scheduled installation for Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning comes and the carpet installers show up and remeasure the floor and tell me that they cannot install because they didn’t bring enough product. They leave and a second crew shows up and installs the LPV in half of our house. Day number two, the carpet installers are pulling down my driveway and my phone vibrates with a text message from the sales rep. It’s a recording sent by text message of him explaining that my cell service is bad at my house and his tablet didn’t calculate the floor layout correctly because a room wasn’t added, due to my poor cell reception (as though I have control over the cell signal). He stated that his quote was wrong and he would need to add another $650 to the total.
I said that I would not pay more than what we agreed, so he said that he would keep the price the same but we would have to accept lower quality product that was cheaper. I said no to that offer also and told him I would only accept that the job be done for the price agreed upon or I would cancel the order. The sales rep said he would keep working on it and hung the phone up. At this time the installers had come in and told me for the second day that they couldn’t install the carpet they brought because they didn’t bring enough padding this time. My wife and I spent the next several hours repeatedly calling customer service just to find out that the sales rep canceled the order as soon as he got off the phone with me and didn’t bother to let us know.
After spending the entire day on Wednesday getting the runaround from customer service and getting nothing resolved, and no call back from anyone, I posted a comment on Empire Today’s Facebook page telling this story. First thing Thursday morning people from the local office and the corporate office started calling my wife and promised to make everything right, that we were correct and the rep screwed up, and they had scheduled another installation appointment for Friday morning. So Friday morning the installers show up again and take about three steps into my front door and says that he can’t remove my old carpet because he saw a flea. Not fleas, but A FLEA. I pulled a piece of carpet and rolled it back where he said that he saw a flea and we couldn’t find it again, or any other kind of bug. Out of desperation to get my flooring complete I talked him into removing it and leaving it in my yard.
After all that he asked me to look at the carpet in his van and said that he didn’t think that he had the carpet that I ordered. He kept saying that he thought that it was the cheaper carpet without the stain resistant r2x. We tested a small sample of the carpet and it didn’t react to liquid the way the video that the sales rep showed us. The video showed wine beading up on the top of the carpet and then getting cleaned up with a few dabs with a paper towel. I poured a tiny bit of soda on my sample and it was sucked into the carpet like a sponge. I get on the phone with the installer's supervisor that gives me a 100% guarantee that I was getting the correct product that I ordered. The entire time I was on the phone with him the installer was shaking his head and telling me that it wasn’t the right product.
Out of desperation again I told them to go ahead and put the carpet down even though I was still very concerned that it was the wrong carpet. Received another call from someone in the corporate office being assured that I was getting the correct carpet and they would come out and verify it to make sure no mistake was made. I went to work on my second shift job thinking this nightmare was finally over. Shortly after I thought that, my wife calls me and tells me that the installers were tired and one of them said his back was hurting, so they were leaving without finishing the job again.
I start calling all the different people that me and my wife had talked to on Thursday and Friday morning, all had given us their direct extension and said to call if there were any more issues. No one ever answered the phone. I left messages to several people wanting someone to finish the job. No one called back. I’m now going on day number five of what should have been a one day job, and I’m not very confident that it will be finished on Saturday. IF YOU WANT NEW FLOORS, DO NOT EVER CONSIDER HIRING EMPIRE! By far the worst company I have ever dealt with at every level.

The installation went as we hoped for, smoothly and efficiently, and the installers were professional and courteous. The payment process went along smoothly as well. We ordered a hardwood floor to be put in hallway. Right off the bat they said they couldn't and put in engineered hardwood instead. It took three days to install but it's only a four hour job. It was a man who couldn't speak English and his 14 year old son. They didn't know what they were doing. They were told to finish the job or they'd get fired. There are so many things that went wrong. Number one we didn't even get hardwood, so we didn't get the product we ordered. Next, areas of the floor are lopsided and you can visibly see uneven wood. Next, the transition from hallway to bathroom is 3/4 inch high instead of a smooth transition and they had to cut the bathroom floor shorter so it could close over the transition.
There are gaps between the floor and the wall now because they never took off the trim while placing the floor. They cut into the stair railing and puttied a random piece of wood there to cover up a hole. They glued the floor together with wood putty. We want a refund on the floor and money for a new bathroom for that they cut. We have been trying to speak to management for five days now and no one is calling us. Every time we call customer services transfers us to a voicemail. The work was done Friday Feb. 16-18 with the guy working twelve hour days, not knowing what he was doing. I couldn't talk to him about my concerns because he didn't speak English and management offices were "closed." My husband and I work full time jobs and don't know how to handle this or have time. No one from management has cared to call back or to even come look at the floor.

We had the bathrooms and the laundry room retiled and we had hardwood installed in the master bedroom. We had previously purchased hardwood floors for the rest of our house from Empire and we wanted to make sure the hardwood matched. I was fairly good with the cost and I'm happy with the quality. But for the installation, they were over the top, off-the-chart horrible. They were going to do the tile first before doing the hardwood, which made sense. But they installed the wrong tile and the whole affair was the nightmare before Christmas. We bought it in November and we finished it up finally in late January. And yet, the company advertises next-day installation. The service was also way below par in all respects.
When the tile people came in, they didn’t show me the product ahead of time. I had to go to work and I assumed they had the product. I guess I should have taken the lead on it but we had had our hardwood floors put in about two years ago and I forgot Empire's procedure to show the product ahead of time and to walk through the whole process with the installer. Aside from that, I had one request before I left for work. I asked them to please hang a piece of plastic between the master bedroom and the master bathroom so that it will help contain some of the dust. There's no door there. It was just an archway and we’d had tile ripped up before the other hardwood and I knew what it was going to be. The installers said, “Of course sir. We’d be happy to do that.” But when I came back, I found out that they did not put up the plastic.
On top of that, we had two toilets that had to be lifted up but after they reinstalled the other toilet, we couldn’t use it because every time we flushed, the water would seep through the new grout in the new tile. It did that because they didn’t replace the wax ring. They took the old one and just stuck the toilet on there. But I didn’t know initially that that was what they had done and for a month and a half we had one toilet we couldn’t even use.
For the first several weeks, they kept making the appointment to come but on the day of, after the robo call saying they're on they're on their way, I would get a call from the installation department saying they won't be here and they don't have the product. It wasn’t until this happened twice that they finally stepped up and admitted that the reason they didn't have the tile was because they installed the wrong one. My wife and I had suspected it was the wrong tile. We bought it in the evening and we thought maybe the lighting was wrong. But it didn’t look like what we’d ordered. We thought maybe we could live with it. When they finally admitted that they’d put in the wrong tile, it was the week before Christmas and we were getting ready to leave for Michigan. So I asked if they would come the week after New Year’s and we would reschedule but they never called.
I finally called them a week after New Year’s and got a date set up. They came out and the gentleman showed me the product that time. I walked him through and he followed the procedure. I made the same request to put a plastic but he said he had to talk to his manager. He was out of the house for about 10 minutes and when he came back, he said he couldn't install the tile because there was too much liability here. He said there was going to be a lot of dust here. I told him I knew that but he wouldn't do the job. He got in the truck, took the new tile and drove away. Then I spent that entire day trying to get a hold of Empire because when you call the installation department, nobody answers those phones.
In this day and age, people should be able to text and answer phones. We should not be put on recording and then not get phone calls back especially when I had been treated the way that we had been treated. Finally, a very nice young lady answered and she had helped us previously in getting this all corrected. I told her the story and she said she made sure they had all the materials and everything was ready to go. But it wasn’t a problem with materials. He refused to install it. She asked for a couple of hours to get it straight.
Then the supervisor of the installation department called and he started the conversation by being really snotty to me. He implied that it was our fault because we were willing to keep the old tile. The only reason we were willing to keep it was because we didn’t know it was the wrong tile. On top of that, they never had the right tile and they never brought it here. After I explained everything I've been through, he was much nicer because he realized that truly if I called a lawyer I could have really made a big thing about it because it was really so poorly handled.
They sent a new team out and those guys were polite and organized. They listened to me and they did a wonderful wonderful job putting in the tile. They worked neatly and cleaned up after themselves. The people who put in our hardwood were outstanding as well. They absolutely did a wonderful job. They showed us the product ahead of time, followed all of the company's procedures and listened to our request. I would use those installers again and we are happy with what we have now. Empire Today has a good reputation and I know for a fact that my bad experience is not Empire's way of working. But I couldn’t possibly go back to them again from what I went through.

Was looking to replace old carpet in my home so we called Empire because we heard good things about them. Consultation was great. Product pricing very reasonable. Installation was another story. Contracted workers did not call before showing up and the job they performed was below our standards. Will not be using Empire again.

My mom used to work for Empire, so I had a sales rep come and I got a good deal on it. I had a carpet, tile and laminate installed in the whole house and it was great. My carpet guys were late one day, but the laminate guys were on par and everything was good. Plus the laminate looks good in the house.

We had Berber carpet installed in September of 2016. By November, the carpet was falling apart, frayed and looked to be at least 20 years old. An inspector was out and immediately stated that this was a manufacturer's defect and they would send a salesperson out for us to choose a new carpet to be installed at no additional cost to us. We met with the salesperson, chose another carpet and set up a time (February 2017) for installation. By August, seams were failing and it took until November 4th for an inspector to come out, take pictures and tell us that we should hear something back in a few days. A week passed and we had not heard from anyone. Damage getting worse, holidays approaching. I was phoning daily and could not speak to anyone but the "call center people" - who were wonderful - understanding and as helpful as their job limitations could be.
I received a letter in the mail stating they had been trying to reach me and could I please phone a specific number. I did so and I was told they have been leaving messages for me daily - REALLY? Because I love living with damaged carpet; especially approaching the holiday entertaining time of the year!!! Everyone else in the world could reach me but Empire Carpet! I finally was able to speak with a customer service rep who still insists that he cannot phone me so we resorted to email. Well, apparently, he isn't having much luck with that either! A salesperson was out on January 17th (I believe) and she was surprised to see the carpet and learn that we were told we could choose another alternative to Berber since twice we have damage. She agreed that the carpet was not damaged, it was poorly installed. Only the seams were failing in several locations.
The next day, that customer service rep discovered how to email me again and asked when they could install our new carpet. I explained that we were also now considering changing to a laminate after speaking with the sales rep. We were told (in writing, by email of c.s. rep) that that would be okay and it would be greatly discounted. Another salesperson was out on January 31st - we chose a carpet and two different laminate options that we are still waiting on pricing for. Meanwhile, we have taken evening/lunch/weekend time on 5 different occasions to meet with reps, we have taken off of work twice for installation. We have spent hours of phone and email time. I am absolutely done and now want a complete refund from Empire of our 2016 purchase price and we will go elsewhere. If I could, I would give a minus rating, not a "1". Contacting the BBB also!
We're disappointed to hear that your carpet is not meeting your expectations. We understand that we've been working with you in regards to your concerns, and we'll be in touch with you shortly to continue working on a resolution.

I got some new carpet from Empire Today and had it installed in my living room. I’ve seen Empire's advertisements on TV. And I liked that they came right to my home and did the measuring, and all I had to do was sit here. My new carpeting is very thick. It was the most expensive and had a nice pad with a plastic cover to keep stains from going down into the pads. So I’m very happy with it.

We needed some carpeting done for two rooms and a hall. We went the best route and chose Empire Today. Two guys came in and did what they had to do, but there were a couple of spots on the carpet so I was wondering if they cleaned it.

Pushy salesman, dishonest scheduling, lousy customer service - After asking what general color we were considering, the Empire salesman came in with an extremely small assortment of carpet samples - either 6 or 9 samples glued onto a board. He claimed he had others but clearly had no intention of letting me see them, and wouldn't get them out of his car when I asked. His explanation was that, if I was lucky, he'd be able to get us the sale price for the 'better stuff' (i.e. the few he'd brought inside). He even wasted additional time going through the motions of a call to the manager to see if he could get approved to sell us one of his chosen few for a 'great price.' When I relayed our experience later to the coworker who had recommended Empire, she said they'd had the same salesman, who had given them the exact same sales pitch down to the phone call, although for them, fortunately, scheduling was not an issue.
When I told the salesman that the purchase was completely dependent on scheduling - that we would only proceed if we could have an afternoon appointment - he assured me that would not be a problem, and that our installation would be scheduled as the last appointment of the day. I got a phone call the day before, and mentioned this to the phone representative, who also put a note on our order and said that would be fine - they would not arrive before 3:00 p.m. The next morning, shortly after 8 a.m. a white van pulled in. I asked how long the job would take and was told "about an hour." Rather than send them away I told them to go ahead. By the time they left it had been almost three hours. So much for working around our schedule.
I should note here that the installation and carpet were adequate, and I'm sure the installers had nothing to do with the scheduling. The quality of the carpet is pretty much on par with what we would have bought for a similar price at Home Depot, but we foolishly chose Empire specifically for flexibility of scheduling. When I called customer service I was told there was no way to schedule anything more specific than between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and that they never would have promised anything of the sort. Will never deal with Empire again.
We're read your review and sincerely regret that your installation was not installed when scheduled. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we'd like further discuss your concerns with you. I had a carpet work done by Empire Today and the salesman was kind of funny. We have the carpet on our living room. I was going to get Menards. It seemed like the better carpet but they didn’t have installers. I liked Empire Today just because they took care of everything. They kind of gave me a little scare that they weren’t gonna be here that day. “Sorry, we don’t have your carpet.” I took the day off and I can’t get any other days off. But somehow that lady at the distribution center in Youngstown made it work.
I like the way the carpet looks. When I got divorced I bought this house. It’s 103 years old and had updates. The walls had flower wallpapers so I got new drywall. It’s all white so I think it all works together. I don’t know too much about decorating so I went with something neutral for everything. I don’t let anybody walk on it. It was a bit expensive. It shouldn’t be that way but my daughter moved out to finish college and I’m just trying to fix the place up a little. I'm thinking about when I retire to move to Florida if I make it nice I'm getting more rent for it.
The installers were really excellent. I have a little background in carpet. I helped a guy install it before when I was younger so I kind of know what’s going on. There were a couple of them. I'm seeing a little bit of a seam more and more and I realize I didn’t get the best carpet they have. That carpet installer taught me how to do the tape and match up the line. They rolled that out and they had it done in no time. The installers were very efficient people and I would recommend them. I also like the fact that they don’t have stores. It kind of worked.

We installed carpet almost throughout our home including a basement bedroom that doesn't get used. We noticed a few months after 2 spots of carpet glue. We called Empire. They asked for pictures. After they reviewed they sent out a GM to look at the spots and he said, "Yes that's carpet glue, I will talk to my manager and get back to you." 1 week later we get a voicemail that they talked to the installer and they didn't use glue and it's been too long. "Let us know if you want to install new carpet and we'll give you a quote." I have called several times back and NO ONE ever calls me back.

Empire was having a sale with a great price so I went straight to them and had carpet and tiles installed at my home. It was installed upstairs with three bedrooms, a game room, and the hallway. And the tiles were in three bathrooms, two full, one half. The flooring is updated and it has met my expectations. They were very professional from the sales person who came out, to the people that put the carpet and tiles. It was a great experience. I didn’t have any problems.

We contact Empire Today and scheduled an in-home sales appointment for some new carpet. Our salesperson, David **, arrived on time and was very friendly and congenial. He measured our space, brought in a number of carpet samples that met our needs, and helped us make a selection within our desired colors and budget. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. At the end of the sales appointment, David took a deposit and scheduled our installation for Monday, 2/12. We were told we'd receive a call that morning with a more precise arrival window, so I planned to work from home that day. We subsequently received an e-mailed confirmation of the installation day.
On Monday, 2/12, we never received a morning call. So, around 11 am, I called to inquire what was going on and was told that we were scheduled for 2/15!? After spending about a half hour on the phone squabbling with them, I was told that an "installation supervisor" was trying to locate a crew and would be back in touch "shortly" to see IF they could get us installed that day (the installation day we were PROMISED). (NOTE: Empire has various regional headquarters, but ALL phone traffic is routed through Chicago. You simply CAN'T get a live, local manager on the phone under any circumstances.)
Several hours went by with no return phone call. So, at around 2 pm, I called again. I was again given a run-around, put on hold while they allegedly contacted the "regional team", and was again promised a return phone call. By 5:30 pm, I still had received no call and we contacted them again. At this point, we demanded a discount, which we were promised, and we rescheduled for Saturday, 2/17 - today - and were told they would try very hard to make sure we were the first appointment of the day.
At 7 am this morning, a "robo" call woke me up to say that Empire would be out to install our carpet "this morning". Not a very specific time, but at least morning gave us something of a window, so I got up and ready, and prepared the house to have the carpet installed. By 11:30 am, we still had heard NOTHING further from Empire and the "morning" was almost gone. So I called Empire and found out that morning means something different in Empire-land than everywhere else - we had been assigned a "late morning" appointment, which to them means between 11 am and 2 pm. Clearly, we were NOT the first appointment of the day and I would have to wait. (I asked the customer service rep to have a MANAGER from the region reach out to me. I call that I have not ever received and doubt that I ever will since they NEVER seem to return phone calls.)
At 3:00 pm, the installation crew finally arrived. They were very friendly and apologetic, but they said they were heavily booked (and indicated that this is typical). After laying some pieces of scrap carpet to protect our month-old new floor, they said they needed to use our garage to cut the carpet since it was snowing. There are several issues with this: Their confirmation e-mail goes into great detail about what you must do to prepare for Empire's arrival - and it makes NO mention of a clear, dry area where they can cut large pieces of carpet.
The person whose car was parked in the garage was away from the house - with his keys. Like most people, we have lives and chores and things to do, and the entire family was not going to be confined to the house waiting for the carpet guys. The snow had been in the forecast for DAYS and, had Empire arrived IN THE MORNING as they were supposed to, this would have been a non-issue.
At this point, I was at the end of my rope, and there was no apparent way to get this carpet installed today unless we waited a couple of hours until the car could be moved out of our garage. So I called Customer DIS-service yet again, and I canceled the order. I asked that a manager still give me a call (I won't hold my breath) and they indicated that it would take 7-10 business days to see the refund on my card. (I returned something to Safeway yesterday and saw the refund THE SAME DAY; Amazon usually issues refunds within a day or two. In other words, Empire is as inefficient at issuing refunds as they are at installing carpets.) There are many choices for purchasing and installing carpets in our area, some of them highly price-competitive with Empire. We'll be giving those other places a try and I strongly encourage you also to look elsewhere for your carpet and flooring needs. Empire should be avoided at all costs.
We regret to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and understand that your order was cancelled. We appreciate your feedback, and we'll be further investigating your concerns.

Met with a salesperson to replace my carpets, scheduled my installation for 2/14/18. I got a call on the 14th saying they would be there in the afternoon to install the carpets. At 2pm I got a call from the installer saying he was running late on the job before mine and didn't realize I had such a big job and he would not be able to finish it if he started it after the job he was on. I had already taken off work and waited around all day. I couldn't take another day so I reluctantly agreed to Saturday morning "first thing" he told me.
Here it is Saturday, I received an automated message saying that they would be there in the afternoon (again) to install the carpets. Got a call at 1pm saying the installers were delayed on the job before (again) but they would definitely be there today. So here I am again. It is now 4pm and no installer to do my "big job" that would take all day! 2 days of missed work and still no carpets. This company need to get its act together. Waiting 30 more min before I cancel my entire order!! This has cost me more in time off than the job itself.

Very poor communication with the company. They "Empire" cannot seem to get organized between the people you speak with over the phone and the installers. Now that they have my money they cannot seem to get their act together and complete the job. Called the sales rep "Bob" numerous times and left messages with no return call back from him. The first time they came the carpet could not be installed because it was measured incorrectly and they did not have enough carpet. They said they would install what they had and come back and "patch up" the rest. I said this was unacceptable and requested them to reschedule and come back and do the job completely, properly with no patching. On the reschedule I was told to expect them by 9-9:30 am on 2/15/18. Was called and told by a Empire rep that they would be coming by sometime after 2:00 pm.
Told the 3 different reps that this was unacceptable and that I did not want people working in my house after 5 pm. They assured me that it would be rescheduled to the following day 2/16/18 at 9-9:30 am. At 2:20 pm on 2/15/18 they show up after I had spoken with 3 different reps to reschedule for 2/16/18. No Communication between the phone people and the installers. Called Empire this morning to make sure that they are coming and they could not give me a definite time since they have an 8-5 time window. I do not have the time to keep sitting around waiting for them to arrive. I have other things to do in my life. This is the 3rd time to attempt them to get the job done and if they show up after 2 pm I am sure they will be here into the evening which I had previously expressed was unacceptable. If I had known I would have canceled this contract and would go elsewhere. Still the rep "Bob" who set up the contract has not called.
One thing that bothers me when speaking to Bob originally I had expressed that we would be looking at other companies and he assured us that the other companies were not reliable and would not do the quality of work that his could do for us. The only reason I am giving a 1 is because the kitchen floor and bathroom work that was done separately from the carpet was done very well and those workers who showed up when they said would show up did a fine job. Again I will never recommend or use this company again and wish that I had my money back. No care by the company after the sale and excuse my language piss poor communication between their phone people the customer and the installers. I said my piece.
We're sorry to hear that you feel this way, and we'll be further reviewing your concerns.

Well again no return call and don't expect to get one. I am very disappointed in the Detroit office and Marla ** lack of follow up. I have always enjoyed using Empire and have recommended them several times to friends, family and landlords I know. Empire's price seemed a little less expensive and the quality seemed to be comparable when we initially looked. We got Empire again and they installed porcelain tile floor and composite wooden floor in the kitchen, hallway, living room, and dining room. It's quite extensive and the actual installation took three days, which I anticipated to be that long. The installers were helpful, courteous, and they explained what they were doing. We also had to make some decisions on the fly and it was fine. I tell others to choose Empire as one of their options, but then always compare.
