I'm very happy with Empire Today. I had them install wood floors on my bedroom and hallway and the installation was done beautifully and the people were good and very polite. I love the new flooring. I like Empire's flooring better than those of other places, and their price too.

Empire Today did a good job. A girl came to my home, showed me all the different samples and gave me an estimate. She had a great personality, very nice and warm. The installers were courteous, got the work done quickly and were on the spot. I left for half a day, then I came back and the installer was curled up in my kitchen. The installation was perfect.

I had carpet installed by Empire Today in my bedroom, dining room, and living room. I also had tiles from them for my bathroom. However, I had ants all over the carpet and they said it was not their fault. I let that go. Then, the gal who sold me the tile did not know anything and so my tile grout is darker than the grout that was on the counter. Because I'm not in that business I did not know which to pick and she should have known some more things about sales. The tile sample I saw was not what I got too, so I'm not happy. Again, I let that go. I just let the sales director know that she needs a little help.
Then I have eight black spots in front of my fireplace, which I never walk at, and it has not been taken care of and I want it taken care of. I spoke to Ashley a lot and I spoke to the head of the Seattle area people, but then he got fired and another guy came in. This guy was very nice. He said they were really behind and I still have not got anybody to take care of it, so I'm pretty pissed off. I went with them because we also got flooring in Virginia in the big house I had and they were great, but this time it has been a nightmare. Nevertheless, the products seem to be durable. The carpet is very nice and its color is nice too.

I had Empire two years ago in my mom’s house and we liked them. That was why we went back to them and had carpets installed in two of our houses. I’m pleased with the flooring and I like the color and texture. It was a great experience.

Carpet seams don't match- furniture damaged- nothing was plugged back in. Salesman won't call back - called him 7 times and texted. Have no light in my bedroom. Furniture was left in front of the bathroom door. Your carpet manager will not call back. Had no wifi and internet for 3 days. Just lousy service. If that's not bad enough I'm in a wheelchair and can't get to all the plugs and a woman. You would not treated a man this way. I did not sign off on the job nor will I until my furniture is fixed and the carpet is put in right. I tried to talk to the 3 men that did the job but those do not listen to anything I said. I would never use this company again. Your high standards are a lie.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Nothing about what the sales rep said was accurate. She said 1 day install. WRONG. She also miscalculated the amount of carpet needed for the job. The installers were supposed to be there 1st thing in the morning. By 11 am they still hadn't showed. Impossible to speak to a person who knew anything so had to keep leaving messages. They only did the upstairs and were there until 8:30 pm. Said they would be back next day to install rest. WRONG. Took several days for them to return to do downstairs and even then impossible to know when they would show up. They were supposed to come back to do the stairs on Saturday. WRONG AGAIN.
They never showed up and Wanda the install scheduler out of Twinsburg and Diane out of Cleveland liars. Say one thing and do not follow through. Highly unprofessional. I had someone waiting at my house all day and they neglected to show. Then on Thursday when they rescheduled... we were supposed to be 1st install of the morning. My husband took off of work again. No show yet AGAIN. Finally after being very insistent someone installed stairs that night at around 5:30 pm. Many work days wasted, promises broken and time wasted on hold with their useless Customer Service people. NEVER AGAIN!!!
We're sorry to hear this. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we'll be in touch with you shortly to discuss your concerns.

I purchase wood laminate installation for my house in July of last year. A couple of months ago I noticed the wood laminate was peeling and lifting in certain areas. I have called Empire to request for someone to come out to inspect the floors. I have been transferred, ignored, never called back and 4 no show inspections. One person even had us send him pictures due to him not being able to make it to our appointment. I wait for like 45 minutes on the phone every time I call and get routed to people who do not know my situation at point of transfer. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional company. I will never do business with Empire or will I recommend it to anyone. I just wish I could get a real person to come and inspect my floor or at least get a call back.

I paid $6000 for my engineered hardwoods in three rooms. The floor creaks, squeaks, pops, and is not level. I have called Empire 4 times about this issue. The first time they had someone come out and told me to wait longer after installation, he said, "Give it another 30 days." I did. Since June 8th, I have called 4 times and my sales representative has called three times. No action on their part, just ignoring us. They scratched up my baseboards, put caulk all over my walls, and knocked my walls in quite a few places.

Due to my age and everything, I thought it was easier if Empire Today brought the carpet to me instead of me going someplace else and having to look at all of them. They also had more reasonable prices and that was a definite plus. I had carpeting installed in my home and I've enjoyed it and had a lot of compliments on it. I like that it's all one piece, the pad is connected to the carpet and I’m not sorry at all that I got it. I also like its pattern and if something gets spilled, I can wipe it up. My salesman was wonderful, easy to work with and seemed like a super nice guy. He listened to me when I was telling him what I wanted. The installation went well. Empire Today is dependable, their prices can't be beat and the quality of my carpet has proven to be as great as I thought it would be.

I serve as the principal for a small private school. We had previously purchased flooring from Empire, and had a satisfactory experience. We wanted to match the carpet with what had been installed previously so we decided to go with Empire again. I still had the rep's number, so I called him to inquire about a quote. When he came to take the measurements he told me he needed to get some information from one of the commercial flooring guys before he could give me a formal quote, but that he would email it to me by Monday or Tuesday (this was on a Thursday). I told him that was fine, as long as I had it prior to our board meeting in two weeks.
On the following Thursday, one week later, I requested an update but did not hear back from the rep. Over the next several days I made multiple attempts to contact him, still without response. Today (the board meeting is this evening) I called Empire's customer service line to see if they could track down the quote. After 45 minutes on the phone with them looking through their system they came to the conclusion that the rep had never generated a quote, and in fact had never even logged the visit in their system. They attempted to call the rep directly but (what a surprise) he did not answer. They did offer to connect me to the sales manager in the local office. But they were unable to get that person on the phone either.
To their credit the people I spoke to at Empire's customer service line were courteous, professional, and tried very hard to be helpful. As I said, they spent forty-five minutes trying to find the quote, and attempted to put me in direct contact with the local office. Unfortunately, due to failures on the part of local personnel, they were ultimately unable to provide a resolution to my problem. At this point if I could give zero stars I would, and it is highly unlikely that I or my school will do business with Empire in the future.
We're sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback, and we'll be looking into your concerns.

My husband paid for our two rooms of carpet and made the appointment for today. I took a vacation day to be there for the install, it is at a property we are selling. Last night, Empire called and asked if they could change the time. Unfortunately, we could not and they agreed to keep the 1:00 pm appointment. No show. When I called to ask where they were, they claimed they left me a voicemail letting me know the carpet was out of stock. A lie, and what a coincidence! Yesterday they wanted to change the appointment, and when we could not accommodate that request, suddenly, the carpet was out of stock...Did not happen, there was no call or voicemail.
They only had one telephone number to contact us, and it was my correct number. No call, no show. I called and asked for a supervisor and a refund. They said no, that I would have to speak to the "local office". I asked for the name of the person to speak with and telephone number of the local office. They said they did not have a name and could not give me the telephone number. Seriously??? I am not making this up!!! They do not know when they will have the carpet, cannot tell me who to speak with and will not provide a refund. Wow. I think this is called fraud? I am going to challenge the charge with our credit card company and report them to the Attorney General's Office. Stay away!

I had an appointment on May 29 to have flooring installed in my laundry/mud room. We had taken the freezer, washer, dryer and the toilet out so the installers could work in the room. About 8:30 AM. I received a call from the installers that they would not be coming today because they were too busy and would not have time to come install my flooring. Thank goodness my son-in-law was here and he helped us move everything back inside. I made another appointment. On June 25th I received a call to confirm my appointment on June 26th. I make it a habit to repeat back the information just to make sure I have everything correct. I told the representative, "This is for tomorrow" and "Will they call me before they come." I was told yes and they would call about 30 minutes before they were expected to arrive.
My husband and I moved the freezer, washer, dryer and the toilet again. This time we did not have anyone here to help us. I stayed home Tuesday and waited. When three o'clock came around, I called and asked when they were going to show up. I was told my appointment was for Saturday June 30. I said I had confirmed an appointment for today. I then asked to speak to a supervisor (a big waste of time). I told this person that I would never make an appointment for Saturday since my husband and I had made plans for the day. I also told him I never would have stayed up late the night before moving everything if I had known they were not coming.
I have grandchildren that stay with me and now they were going to have to go upstairs in order to use the bathroom. I was then told that when I confirmed, they were not able to schedule my installation for Tuesday so my appointment was moved to Saturday. Unbelievable. The customer service is so insincere in their apologies. This company has no concept of people's time or the inconvenience that they may cause.
We know your time is valuable, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We'll be in touch with you soon to discuss your concerns.

I met with the salesperson on 5/25/18 and discussed whole house carpeting/padding/removing of old carpets/new tack bars if necessary/etc. I chose the best padding for the house and the standard padding for the bedrooms since there is no traffic in those rooms. He provided me with the price which I must say was very good.
My paperwork/contract states the estimated start date is 7/2/18. On 6/26/18 at 1:11 I received a message stating my installation was scheduled for 7/18/18. This was NOT what was discussed at the time of sale. I took time off that week and was very specific that it needed done that week. I was told no problem! I called the phone number on my caller ID back and spoke to a gentleman who put me on hold then transferred me to a phone number with a voicemail. No warning I was being transferred. I called back got a different gentlemen and he told me they called me the day before to schedule me for 7/2 but I never called back so I lost my spot. I advised him (very rudely I will add) that they in no way called me as my caller ID reflected on attempt by them earlier that day and that was it. Also, Xfinity logs each call that comes to my residence and they NEVER called to schedule this installation.
I was then transferred to a woman named ANN who had me on hold quite a while then continue to state they were booked on 7/2 and the earliest they could do this was 7/11. I kept explaining this does not work for me. She put me on hold to supposedly speak with the Installation Manager then came back and stated he was gone for the day. I was then asked for my permission to put my name on for the 7/11 installation to hold a place tentatively while she emailed the Installation Manager and for doing that I would get a 200.00 discount off my remaining balance. I hesitated and she said that is just a placeholder and she would PERSONALLY call me back the following day with an update. At this point I have now told my story three times to three different people and angry doesn't even cover my attitude! On 6/27/18 at 10:15 I still had not received a return call from ANN, so I called them back.
Again, had to explain the story and I was then transferred to a man who I assume was some type of Manager. He told me I have already been compensated by getting the 200.00 reduction and they would do nothing further. Like a robot he kept repeating they were booked on 7/2 and that was it. I told him (very sarcastically) that he must do this all the time in his Customer Service role because he didn't care what I had to say. He just kept repeating the same thing over and over. Finally, I said fine, install because I have no options apparently, my cancellation time frame is over (3 days) but funny I scheduled 6 weeks in advance and the call didn't come within 3 days to cancel and I do not intend to lose one penny on this transaction! Needless to say, we are not getting off on a good foot! I have printed my paperwork received and will have it in my hands when the installers come and can only pray that I have no further issues.
You feel because you are giving me a 200.00 additional discount that is good enough for the entire poor customer service provided. I also called the salesperson who helped me and never heard back from him either. Now I have to take ANOTHER day off work which will cost me more than 200.00 that they are crediting me but I guess they don't care since they do quite a business. Once this is done, I will advise family, coworkers and friends of my experience with this company and suggest they do not contact you for flooring/carpeting, etc.
We're sorry to hear that you were inconvenienced by this matter. We'll be in touch with you soon to discuss your concerns.

I had Empire Today install carpeting in my bedroom. Someone came ahead of the guys and evaluated. He sold the carpeting at half the price to me. It was more than I thought it was gonna be, but it was nicely done. He got it all together. He talked to me and then the next day, three fellows came in to do the work, which I was very pleased with. I had some other rugs put in and I wasn’t too happy about them but these fellows were very businesslike. Their customer service level was excellent. I gave them a small tip because they did a great job. I would recommend Empire Today highly.

There was a carpet store out here and the only thing they had was really thin, and I did not want anything that thin. It was almost like paper. When I saw how thick Empire Today's was, I went with them. I then purchased a kitchen and a doorway laminite flooring. However, I called a couple of days after and someone was supposed to come out, but no one ever did. It has been a month and it is still bundled up in the hallway heading towards the back door. I just gave up on it. Also, one of the workers left his tape measure here. I have even left a message for him to come to pick it up if he wants to.

Needed an inexpensive but nice carpet replacement for my home being sold. My realtor recommended Empire, so I let her handle the choice of carpeting. The price was quite reasonable. Installation went without a hitch, and the carpeting came out looking much nicer than expected. Next consideration was my new home; I wanted new vinyl plank flooring; the sales rep came out and after showing us all options we went with a nice grey wood flooring for our second floor of a three floor home. It came out so nice, that we had Empire back, and they just completed vinyl plank flooring on our complete third floor. The whole house looks like it had a facelift. Installation was perfect, and the technicians were quite competent.

Will never use or recommend! My carpet install went smoothly, professional install and nice job. The next day was tile... that never came, next day, never came, finally on day 3 of my appliances and kitchen furniture in my living room they showed, after 18 calls Friday and some prompting. They showed without all the supplies and didn’t know it was a tear up until they actually read the order, to Home Depot they went for subfloor. I’m not totally sure I even got the tile I ordered since the job was scheduled in April but I’m almost certain I ordered a lighter shade.
The tile is nice and I told them to put it in, by this time I had begun tear out myself and would have finished had I known I had two extra days rather than paying hundreds of dollars for them to do it. I was then informed they were two boxes short and had some damaged tile so they may not be able to finish! Thankfully they did finish, this is Saturday, I was told my appliances and furniture could be put back Monday, my husband took the day off to do this. There are air bubbles that have popped leaving holes throughout the grout, a gritty surface on the top of the grout in areas oh yes we also had to connect a tow strap to the installers van and pull them out of the muddy rut they made while going through the grass. I am waiting on a call to get some resolution as the man I spoke with seemed to not care that I had turned down 2 12 hours work shifts to be here because they didn’t show up the first two scheduled days... just the surface, not happy!

Permanently scarred my daughter's foot, and destroyed our landscaping over thousands of dollars. Third party contractors too. Empire immediately sent us to a third party insurance company that the installers have, that is a nightmare to deal with. Currently interviewing attorneys. This install took over three weeks for three four small rooms. They kept forgetting tape so three different crews were at my home over a month. My 6, and 8 year old daughters were injured by stepping on the tacks leading into their room that were left unhammered apparently. It's been over three months and my daughter still has a hard scar on the ball of her foot which is painful.
The first installers that came got stuck for over 4 hours on our property and caused thousands of dollars crushing our railroad ties that surround our land trying to get out. Two tow trucks had to get them off our property at 11 pm. I have been emailing corporate for three months and they finally told us to deal with a third party insurance company because the installers were third party contractors. Empire washed their hands with us. Seeing attorney now. BEWARE. INSTALLERS DO NOT WORK FOR EMPIRE!!! If something goes wrong on your property or injury, you will get the run around like us.

Where should begin, it all started on Tuesday June 19th when I called customer service to confirm the install and spoke to Jenika, she informed me the installers have a window from 8 to 10:30am to arrive and begin the work. On Wed. June 20th, my wife took off that day to prep the rooms based on what we were informed, and also took off Thursday June 21st & Friday June 22nd. She took off because we were told this would be a 2 day install by the salesperson Austin **.
On Wednesday morning no one called to let us know what was happening, my wife a bit after 10:30am and spoke to Donte ** I believe from the warehouse in Maryland and he informed her the material had not arrived in the morning and it would arrive around 1pm so the installer can pick it up and go from there, late that afternoon my wife found out the material never arrived. The same thing took place on Friday morning and we were told they were out of stock. So, the install did not take place on Friday either, 2 days wasted, unproductive and a great deal of stress and concern. Keep in mind my wife took 3 days off work to make this a simple as possible for us.
Finally the materials arrived late Friday by this time is was too late to begin therefore the install had no other choice but to take place on Saturday. We had to cancel our Saturday plans and accommodate Empire's mishap!!! The installers arrived at 9am and left at 9pm. Needless to say this was a dissaster!!!! However I do have to commend the installers for working 12 hours straight to the point I asked them to take a break, eat and rest. They were very organized!!
The other issues are the following: cost & Austin ** the sales rep. I reached out to Austin on Thursday June 21st to inform him of the situation we were facing, he said there was nothing he can do but to call customer service. I did not accept that because customer service was not helping other than saying "We're sorry for the inconvenience".
I asked him for his manager's name & number and he refused to comply. He then asked me to send him my info ie, name & date when our appointment took place, so I did on Thursday the 21st at 5:52pm. I asked him to find out and follow up. He responded on Friday the 22nd. late into the evening and I quote "Inventory is first come first serve, which is why I tried to explain that you should have done the install sooner, we had the product when you ordered it, but when other customers order the same product in the same color and their install is set before yours, the product gets used. Unfortunately I do not monitor product inventory or handle customer complaints, I can direct you to customer service".
This is unheard of... The agreement was signed on May 31st and Empire had plenty of time to order the materials prior to the install. No excuse! The dates that were chosen were based on our availability and agenda, not Empire's agenda. Based on his comment, Empire works around their agenda not the customers. As a sales rep. he should monitor the progress and follow up with each of his installs and communicate to his clients if and when a problem has arrived.
Finally the cost: on Thursday June 21st I had spoke to Gerald (supervisor at customer service) at around 5:55pm and we agreed the final bill would be an even $5000.00 and call it a day. We both agreed and I asked him... will the installers have the correct amount when they present me the final document? Gerald confirmed that they would and all I have to do was sign and that information would then be passed to Wells Fargo who it was financed by. That did not happen... I called customer service on Saturday June 23 at 1:40pm and spoke to Brian and informed him the bill was still at $5390.96, he mentioned the bill was $5049.96, he said he would have someone call me. No one called, I had to call again at 6:25pm and spoke to Angel and had to repeat myself again, gave him all the information and he told me someone would call me on Monday June 25th.
It is now Monday June 25th and I had to call again, I spoke to Laura and she mentioned someone would call today, it's now 4:06pm and no one has called. After reading the a number of reviews, the "Out of Stock" excuse is a norm. To my understanding this happens on a regular basis and it is very consistent. My opinion with all the respect everyone deserves there seems to be no ownership. No one wants to be held accountable for their performance and would rather point the finger and blame other departments. The lack of leadership, planning and inventory control does not seem to be a priority for Empire, if it is, it surely does not reflect it at all. I would like for Empire to do the right thing, own what happen to us and fix it.

Made an appointment for between 11-1, and waited and waited. About 12:45 I contacted the live chat to ask for an update on where they were (I know these kinds of jobs run late sometimes). I was then informed that I did indeed have an appointment, but NOBODY has been assigned to it. Oh, thanks for letting me know ahead of time guys. I could have not wasted 2 hours of my life if they had been a reputable company. What if I didn't contact them? I'd have just waited and waited? Cool. They then offered me $50 off to make another appointment. I was already getting $200 off when their site offered if I made an appointment. How ironic.

My husband and I are considered loyal customers to Empire as this current project is our 3rd largest investment with them. However, appears this will be our last one as well. The project was estimated to be completed in just 1 day or a day and a half at the most due to the installation of wood floors on our stairs. However, fast forward to today, this project is still ongoing after 2 weeks due to inadequate logistical issues with their ordering of the wrong flooring and the installation crew showing up at my home with the wrong product, 2 times! Tomorrow will be their 3rd attempt! Not to mention, on at least 2 occasions the installation crew lead us to believe they could rectify the issue by coming in on a Saturday, only to find out the products weren't available for Saturday installation.
We changed our Saturday plans for them twice to accommodate Empire. I'm not even going to address the quality of the work! We have some wood floors that aren't completely glued down and they hid it under heavy boxes. The floor actually bounces in that area! These issues even continued after our discussion with the Norfolk VA management team, however, in my opinion everyone's a little too relax from my perspective especially since they stand to earn thousands of our dollars! I usually recommend folks to Empire Today as I hold them in high regard, but never again... Buyer beware... oh well my saga continues tomorrow, hopefully they'll have the right flooring this time.
This is not the experience that we wish for our customers, and we're sorry to hear that you feel this way. We'll be in touch with you shortly to learn more.

We originally had Empire install laminate in our dining and living room areas. The dining room was getting badly pitted and needs to be replaced. The sales person came out and we told him we wanted the same laminate they had installed before. The 1st installers came out and had the wrong laminate and not enough materials. They tried to blame us as we were the ones who picked out the sample. I explained that we never saw samples as we wanted what was previously installed by Empire. I even gave them a leftover piece from the 1st installation so they could get it correct. One week later the 2nd installers came to my house with the exact same problem. A different laminate but, just the same not the one we wanted. Still not enough materials even if they were to have what we wanted. They made us feel like it was our fault.

The sales guy did a fine job in showing the carpet and tile flooring. The cost was a little high but it was well worth it with the quality of work. I like the color and you just flowed along when you walk on it. The carpet feels soft and the linoleum kitchen floor has got the give to it too. Empire Today did a good job.

A couple of years ago, I had Empire Today install wood floors in the entire downstairs, the front living room, dining room, kitchen and back living room. In their commercial, it said that if we buy one room, we get two for free. And so we went with them. However, when I had the salesman come, he was very horrible. He was very pushy and didn’t let me make a decision. I had to make that decision in five minutes or the offer he was offering me was gonna expire. So, I had to call my ex-husband because he was splitting the bill with me and he heard the gentleman through the phone and told me to hang up the phone and tell him to leave. But I really liked the floor so I put up with it and I told the salesman that I can't pay the bill myself so my ex-husband has to agree. And he pressured me into buying from them.
The problem that I had was that I had the flooring installed but the salesman lied through his teeth because I told him that I have two dogs and two young kids at that point and the new floor is not allowed to get wet by any means. We can't leave a wet bathing suit on the floor, and in the winter time, we couldn’t leave our snow boots by the front door because it literally buckled the floors. Also, where the dogs drank their water, it was ruining my floors with any type of water. The new flooring is gorgeous, but I had to have it repaired three different times as it was bad.
There was a very nice gentleman at Empire Today. His name was Chris and he fixed the floor this time for free. I had to make sure no water ever touch the floor and make sure the children knew better to leave anything wet on the floor by the front door. We had a nice, big mat by the back door but we can just look at it and can't play with it. I was told by Chris that they don't make my floor anymore.
Overall, it was a bad experience and I'm very dissatisfied with Empire Today. Their customer service was not willing to help me at all and the only way I felt that I got help is because when I went online to Consumer Affairs. I wrote off how I felt and how I was treated by Empire. That was when I got a call from Empire and they said to me that they would fix the problem for free one time if only I would take my post down. They even sent me something that I had to sign saying that I was gonna do that, and that’s the only way that they were willing to help me. Empire is misleading and dishonest. The flooring probably isn't their fault, but I asked the salesman all these questions and he lied.

Let me start by saying that I have used this company before with perfect results. The 2nd time is when I saw how they treat their customers that have a problem. I had needed my first level floor replaced after a broken pipe had damaged my floating wood floor. I of course called Empire after being satisfied with prior work. When we signed the contracts (Feb 19, 2018) with the salesperson we handed over insurance paperwork that needed to be filled in and returned so that we could receive an insurance check to pay them. We arranged the install for 30 days later (March 19, 2018) to give them time to do the paperwork we needed. At that time we paid a deposit and then waited.
We moved all furniture off the first floor except for 7 pieces to make everything go smooth on the install date. We even took the pictures off the walls so they would not be knocked off while working. My first warning should have been that they would not give us a time for them to arrive, but instead told us if they are not there by 10am call and they will help us. That morning the install crew showed up at 8am ready to begin, but first wanted full payment for the job, $8,000. At that time I asked them what happened to the insurance paperwork and of course they did not know. I contacted the salesperson and he said he would look into it immediately and call me back. I spoke to the install supervisor and he used the same line.
At that point I was told I would need to pay or they would not install the floor. I made the mistake of paying this on a credit card thinking that once I received one of the callbacks this would be taken care of. They stayed late and finished the job that day. First thing the next morning I received a call from their customer service to follow up. I told them I was more than pleased with the job, this is 14 hours later, but I was still waiting for a callback about the payment paperwork. I was assured again that someone would be in touch with me that day (Tuesday).
You guessed it. There was no callback that day or the next. In the meantime I heard a loud pop come from my kitchen and discovered that a piece of the molding had popped up and come free from the floor. I contacted Empire on Thursday and was of course told someone would call me back. After several calls I did finally get in touch with a woman who assured me she would help with everything that had gone wrong. She informed me they could not locate the paperwork and could I please fax it to them. She also informed me that she would connect me with someone to repair the molding. She connected me to a voicemail and I left a message about the problem.
The following day I faxed the paperwork to them and waited. 2 days later I again faxed the paperwork to them. A week later I contacted the same woman and left a message for her and again received no callback. In total by this time I had been told by 7 different people that someone would call me back. I have of this date never received a call from any of these people. This led me to contact my credit card company and dispute this charge as I believe this contract was not honored and neither was the warranty. I had to go out of town for a week and upon returning home I had a FedEx envelope on my porch and when I checked my messages there had been 3 calls from an Empire customer service person. I called the number on the letter and to my surprise it went to a telemarketing company.
Thinking I had dialled wrong I tried again and again. It was late and I wanted to believe that there was a problem with the phone lines. I decided I would again call in the morning. The next day I again called the number and yes it was a wrong number that they had sent me in that letter. I then called in on the main number and asked for the woman named in the letter and was connected to her. I left a message for her again explaining all that had happened. When I returned from work the next day I received a message from her that she could not have possibly have given me the wrong number (I have the letter) and that I need to call her.
I left her another message telling her that I do not arrive home till 6 pm or later and would not be able to speak to her earlier as I have a job where I can't receive or make calls during working hours. The message that I received the next day from her was in essence telling me too bad. She stated that she only works until 5:45 and I would have to call her earlier. I tried this the next day but of course got her voicemail and did not receive a call back until the next day when I was at work. I of course returned her call again telling her that I could not do this and would need someone to help me that would call me later. I of course received a message back that said this was not possible.
I returned the call one more time asking why I can book an appointment if I call at that time and can have a salesperson come to my house after 6pm but cannot speak to anyone that could help me. Since then I have never heard back from them. At this time I now have 4 separate pieces of molding coming loose and parts of the floor that if I step on makes another part of the floor pop up. This has proven to be the worst customer service that I have ever received since I became an adult. As of this date (6/23/18) I have not received a single call nor is my floor repaired. Any further information needed about this complaint I would be free to offer to anyone that contacts me. All I can say at this point is never use Empire.
We apologize for your experience, and we'll be looking into your concerns right away.
Thank you.

I ordered over 1300 sf of carpet and flooring from salesperson on 6/18/18 to be installed 6/25/18. I called 6/22 and Empire said they had no order for me. I called sales person who said she ordered and would let me know. It should be installed Mon and would let me know the next morning. She didn't so I called Empire back. Still they say they have no order 6/23. My paperwork shows a install of 6/25 which now cannot happen, my maid was coming 6/26 for my dinner party on 6/28. I have taken off work to be here. Had people come help me move all small items. My house is a wreck.
I guess my salesperson is overworked and just dropped the ball. What a mess. No person with customer service is able to help when they don't show a order, I have left a message with the salesperson manager. I told him I want my carpet Monday 6/25 like I was told and at least a 10 percent off discount for each day it's late, does that sound fair. I have had to spend hours on the phone and text trying to get this handled. Now I am told to wait for a call on Monday, I have had to cancel my maid service and may need to cancel my dinner party! I have had to take extra blood pressure meds and a nerve pill to try and calm down! So I am very unhappy, I hope to get a call asap!

It's really nice and I'm impressed with it and I've gotten some compliments for it, so it's been good. We had a smooth transaction transition with Empire, and when they came in, we made a deal and then they came back and put the carpet in and everything was good to go. I purchased my home in November 2015. We had new carpet installed in 3 bedrooms by Empire Today. In December of 2017 we had a plumbing leak and I called them back to reinstall carpet in 2 bedrooms. We had another leak, two months later (after the carpet, new flooring and baseboards were installed). I called Empire for a third time.
The first two installs were great. Everything went smoothly. This last time, the installers were a "no show" twice. My children had to sleep on the floors for a week because the furniture was taken apart and in the garage (until Empire decided to show up). THEN, the installers cracked my newly installed upgraded baseboards. They didn't even notify us. I found out upon inspection of the carpet installation. I didn't receive a call back from a supervisor, as promised, so I contacted Empire again 3 days later. It's been a week since the incident and Empire still has not even attempted to contact me! Our first Experience with Empire Today has been horrific to say the least. They admitted to have sent in a green sales rep. that explained to us that after picking Planking Flooring for our basement was a choice - After speaking with an experienced Empire Today installer that sheet Vinyl would be a better choice for our basement. We agreed to that cost (which was not cheap) and decided that with their special that was going on to get our kitchen with the planking finished as well. Installation day came and the Contract Installer came into our home explaining that the Vinyl was not in as yet and in a couple of days it would be. They proceeded to take the balance owed for both jobs - laid the planking in the kitchen - THEN before masking basement told us that our incline in the basement would not hold firmly with Vinyl sheeting without buckle due to the incline of our drain being 2 inches - and we would have to call sales.
The installer then MASKED the floor and replied they would be back on Friday - call your salesperson. The installer left a sample of flooring less expensive as to what we would be paying for Vinyl to show sales person. Sales person comes back 2 days later and suggests 4 colors on a ring for me of Affinity plank flooring. Nothing else. I said "ok" - I picked one - he did his calculations and said we would owe another grand!!! I about fell on the floor. We feel like we were taken at this point to make more sales money for your company - not about what it's worth or making it right. I was told by their promotions department that I would have the head of installations call me to discuss the matter- NO CALL.
I then called and asked to speak to SALEs MANAGER JOE> he explained he would get with corp. office and get back to me today. I waited all day for a call. NO CALL. I then called Empire Today to reach out and no one is in to take my call. I am totally disappointed with Empire Today. I thought with the years of experience that this company holds, would not be getting the runaround. They have my money - I have NO tile in my basement. I hope someone reads this and is able to help us. My husband recently had an accident and we have been through 5 years of hell and now living with a brain injury for the rest of his life. I am the one handling this. I do not want to go to court - but believe me - I have and won't hesitate to again if pushed.
Updated on 07/05/2018: I was anticipating my installment as verified on 6/26 for a nine-10 am show up time. I had to call customer service with Empire Today to find out if the installers were on their way. The Customer Service Person then tells me it was put back a week for Lack OF MATERIALS!!! I then asked when it was pushed back for. She said new installation date of the 12th of July. She then offered the 11th of July for Installation. I took it. I was given a ref# of ** to confirm our new installation date. Time given was anywhere from 9 am until 6 pm. This company is UNREAL to deal with. They have my money- again I have no tile in my basement. Sad Situation.

July 2016 – 1700 Sq. feet Mohawk Laminate Flooring installed through Empire Flooring for $16K, 1-year installation warranty, Lifetime product warranty. Within 3-6 months of installation started having issues with the floors. Boards separating, boards lifting up from each other, laminate peeling off - some small/some big chunks. Filed a claim with Empire Flooring in June 2017 - a woman by the name of Hannah ** was our main contact at Empire. Decision could be: product defect, installation defect, site defect (our fault). Floors inspected 3 times over the next 8 months. 2 inspectors through Empire Flooring, 1 inspector paid for by Mohawk Flooring. Empire Flooring submitted claims to Mohawk Flooring twice (2). Mohawk Flooring rejected both claims stating it was site defect (aka our fault).
I asked to see the Mohawk Flooring’s inspectors report. Was told no by Hannah at Empire Flooring – Per Mohawk Flooring “I didn’t pay for the inspector therefore I had no right to see the report.” Empire decided they would pull up all the flooring, replace only the damaged boards and relay all 1700sq feet of flooring at no cost to us. Replacement of damaged boards began early February 2018. Installers did not pull up all the flooring as I was told by Empire Flooring. Installers missed areas where boards were still damaged. Boards that were replaced had laminate peeling off the same day as the reinstall. Called Hannah at Empire Flooring and informed them of this. I told Hannah at Empire Flooring the flooring was defective, I wanted all the flooring removed and replaced with different flooring.
Hannah at Empire Flooring came back and said no - that’s all they could do – they’ve already gone above and beyond the call of duty by replacing the damaged boards at no cost to us. Hannah at Empire Flooring said I could pick different flooring and have it installed at an “up cost” to us. I told Empire Flooring “you’re replacing defective flooring with defective flooring.” After doing more research on Empire Flooring and Mohawk Flooring, I realized I am 1 of many consumers who feel that they were sold defective flooring but that Empire and Mohawk always lays the blame on the customer and do the absolute minimum to correct the problem(s). To this very day, we have flooring where boards are lifting up from each other and laminate peeling off in small and big chunks. I will be contacting the Colorado Attorney General, Consumer Protection Agency and an attorney.
We're disappointed to hear that your laminate floor has not been meeting your expectations. We've located your order, and we'll be in touch with you soon.

I am so disappointed with my wood floor installation. Where do I begin. The young man (Rod) who is the primary installer is a very hard worker and is doing the very best he can but no matter how well intended he is, he does not have the experience needed for wood floor installation. He has only installed about nine wood floors before mine. So many mistakes. Where is the wood floor manager? Why has he not come over to look at the work being done? Rod was here four days and is still not done.
They sent others with less experience to help, They were no help. I had to go through father's day weekend with unfinished floors. I could not move furniture back into place because floors are not done. Cracks in the wood, boards not snug together and coming loose. Baseboards need to be put up. I contacted customer service a week ago today and I am still waiting for someone to call letting me know when they will finish. How does a company like Empire allow this to happen?

We had Empire Today install both laminate and carpet for us. We liked having the samples at their store and choosing from the stuff that was laid out before us instead of running back and forth. They were also fairly competitive on the cost and quality all the way through. We picked out on what we liked and just took them. Then they installed the laminate in the dining room and the living room, and the carpet was put in on the front porch area. Though we got good quality of work and service, we also had a very mixed experience with them.
We had a little confusion on a part of it when we had a few problems out of the warehouse getting the right size of the cut and I just didn’t like the idea that I couldn’t get to anybody. There should be somebody in the corporate headquarters and I wanted something where I get to talk to somebody and go down the line instead of going to the same spot all the time. Despite this issue, we were very satisfied overall. We just had the breakdown and we ended up having a very good manager at the warehouse who got us out of trouble. After a long discussion, we decided to call Empire regarding new vinyl flooring. The rep was very professional (the best part of our experience). We had our new floor installed April 9. The installers instructed us that when if we noticed any lifting of the floor edges, to step on them. After 3 weeks of "stepping on the edges/corners" and the vacuum catching on the floor, we called. A time was set up for June 4th. I stayed home from work, waited ALL day, and no one called or showed. Called Empire on June 5. We got a contact number for Floyd, an assistant repair worker. Floyd personally said that "someone would be out June 14." I stayed home from work, when no one called like Floyd said they would be, I called Empire (11 am). They did confirm that "I was scheduled, and someone would be there on this day". 4pm, no one showed-this is now the second time.
I called Empire, again. My husband called the rep we had. On June 15, we were assured for a third time, "that someone will be out to repair your floor." The third date set up was June 21. June 21, was advised that someone would be here. At 4pm, we called Empire, again! I asked to speak to the CEO. I was transferred to their office and spoke with a lady. She advised me that, "this person can help you with your concerns." At this point, I am now requesting a partial refund of our very very poorly installed floor! OUR COMPLAINTS:
1. Three different dates set for a repair person to come to our home. No one came, or even called to say they weren't coming. 2. I missed 3 days of work/time WAITING on someone to show up. 3. Moved furniture, and "all breakable items"-3 TIMES NOW. 4. HAD to call and call to get NOTHING in return-still don't have a date of repair and a floor the looks like crap. 5. To DIANA **, I promise if this happened to you, you would be mad as heck!!! I left a message for you, this situation needs rectified ASAP. WE WANT OUR $8000.00 FLOOR FIXED! Honestly, what we have is not the quality of $8000.00. I have also requested an itemized billing statement. IF we have been overcharged or there are any questions regarding what we had installed, I will contact an attorney about my complaint.

Empire Today was running a 50-50 special and I got carpeting from them. My floor is done in my kitchen but my carpet in the den, which is a big area, has some ripples in it so I’m gonna have to have it restretched. I used to lay carpet back in the day when I was younger. The guy that came and laid it had used a knee kicker instead of a wall-to-wall stretcher. I called Empire and they were supposed to send somebody out to look at it. And I talked to a rep about a couple of days later and she said, “I’d imagine it’s gonna be $150 to restretch it.” So I said, “Never mind.” They didn’t really do it properly, so I’m gonna get a wall-to-wall stretcher from the Home Depot and do it myself. Other than that, I was very satisfied with Empire.

I called them and was told it was too late to complain. About two weeks later I called again and they said I needed to supply receipts for cleaning. I told them that I cleaned the carpet myself at the end of each year (twice in two years). I then had to submit pictures of the matted areas. Of which I did. I supplied the name of my Bissell carpet cleaner and model. They once again told me that the manufacturer required receipts. I then went out and spent $122.00 to have the carpet recleaned. They told me finally that they would have to check with the carpeting manufacture to see if my carpet shampoo machine would be approved. They came back and told me it was not. And cannot do anything.
Nowhere in the warranty does it specify it has to be professionally cleaned or give instructions as to which carpet shampooer can be used. It seems that Empire Today's only care about the sale and that is where it ends. They let the manufacture rule without backing the customer at all. They go through the motions and that is where it ends!! I now have to replace the carpet after two years and paying over $1500.00 for a single room. BE AWARE OF EMPIRE TODAY!!! THEY ARE NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY AFTER THE SALE!! BUYER BE AWARE!!
Updated on 07/11/2018: Please see my review for Empire Today on June 20th 2018. They responded on June 21st that they were looking into the matter. On June 24th I asked them how long will the process take? It is July 11th with NO RESPONSE from Empire Today even though they told ConsumerAffairs it was resolved outside. This is VERY FAR FROM The TRUTH, as they have never responded to me at all!!! As I said in my original review on June 20th BE AWARE of Empire Today as they Love you BEFORE the sale, and Forget who you are after the sale. Well here we set, still looking at our old carpet! No one showed up, just like the reviews warned us. Then we call and get the runaround and tons of excuses. SO disappointed! Oh and the price they quoted... we were told it's going to be more money because the salesperson quoted us a price on the wrong type of flooring... give me a break!
Updated on 06/25/2018: So after we were told the contract was no good... which I never heard of canceling a contract (a month after it was signed) but obviously these people can. We get another man to our house who quotes us $6000.00 to do 4 rooms in a double wide modular home. We figured it out to be $7.50 a square foot. Sorry fellows but Lowe's can do the job for less than 1/2 the price you gave us and about my other review where someone responded, that they would be contacting me... Never happened! But I'm not shocked. The right hand really doesn't know what the left hand is doing when it comes to this company. I am still receiving calls to confirm my canceled contract. I keep telling them, "Sure come install the flooring because I wasn't the one who canceled the contract."
Your concerns are important to us, and we'll be in touch with you shortly.

I was under a time constraint to have one room of carpet replaced. My experience with Empire in the past was that they were ridiculously expensive so I wasn't going to call them but they were the only ones that could get it done the next day. Their rep, Danielle came out and took measurements and because of pet stains assured me they would both remove the furniture and treat the concrete under the carpet before putting new carpet down. So I figured the $720 price tag for some cheap crappy plush carpet was worth it given that I only have one day to get the job done.
The guys, Flavio and Philipe, two of the nicest and hardest-working gentleman I have ever seen, showed up the next day and showed me that Danielle's measurements were wrong by a foot or two in either direction. It took them an hour and a half just to calculate whether or not the carpet would work. When the carpet was up they were getting ready to lay the pad and I asked them about the concrete treatment and they had no idea what I meant. I explained it all and they asked me if I had anything they could use to put down on the concrete. I was incredulous but I actually had something and then they asked me if I had a mop to apply it.
All this time I had called Danielle at least five times and she never got back to me. It took them over 6 hours to do a job that they said should have taken one hour. I have not one complaint about the guys or their work but the fact that this was not done the way it was sold to me and that neither Danielle nor her manager ever bothered to call me back means I will never ever even consider calling this company again. It is 3 days since the installation and they still have not called me.
We regret to hear this, and will be in touch with you shortly to learn more.

I purchased Luxury Vinyl Planking back in October for my living area which also encompasses the dining area and a hallway. There had been the original carpet down and having a new baby I wanted something that was easier to clean and more sanitary for him. The rep came out and was very pleasant to work with. I wanted something that was durable, waterproof and nice looking. I have the LVP (which I had purchased from Home Depot) in my bathroom and love it because it looks like real wood. When I saw the samples, I thought they were nice but they were so small and it was difficult to really see the quality of them. I had gone to other stores and actually seen the full sample so this was a little odd to me. I also checked out two local places and both had many other samples to choose from.
But what really got me to go with Empire was the price and the fact that they had a long warranty on the product (which ended up being matched later on by a local competitor but since I had already signed with Empire there was nothing I could do). I scheduled an installation for a Friday, took off work and waited for them to call me. By 9 AM I hadn't heard anything so I called and no one knew anything. Then they told me that my product was out of stock. I'm not sure why they didn't tell me this ahead of time, and it not only inconvenienced me but I had to take additional time off of work for their screw up. They compensated me practically pennies for my time. It was comical in the grand scheme of it all. It cost me over 4k and they gave me like $100 or something. The installers came to my house the following week, showed me the product which looked like those cheap flimsy sliding door blinds.
At this point I wasn't sure what to do and convinced myself that it would look better once they installed it. When they were finished I went to look but they seemed in a hurry so I thanked them and they left. Before they left, they told me that I have to be careful with the floor because it will scratch. I got a call from an Empire rep about the installation and I told her it was ok, and told her about the scratching the installer mentioned. She said "It should get better with time." That made absolutely no sense to me, how could a product get stronger? But ok. Looking around I was disappointed I had spent 4k on this floor, but figured I would give it a chance.
But there are several major issues with this product and the installation. There is a noticeable dip going from our bedrooms to the living area. My son has actually fallen when crawling when he reaches that area because of the dip. They also were supposed to provide a piece for the area where my kitchen floor and this floor meet. They didn't. The gap between my kitchen floor and this flooring is noticeable enough that dirt is constantly getting underneath there but I can't actually get to it. (That area I had mentioned to the installers before they left and the guy just shrugged his shoulders at me.) The floor is all scratched from my SON'S TOYS! How cheap does the quality have to be to be scratched by plastic toys and a 16lb child pushing them around? The floor is constantly bouncing and it looks weird in some areas. Almost like crinkled paper when it gets wet. I don't know what that is.
My floor from Home Depot? Still in great shape and looking beautiful. I regret every day not taking the offer from my local store. Their products are beautiful and high quality. I'm still paying so much money for this horrible floor that I hate. I would rather have no floor than this floor. Empire please come take this junk back and put me out of my misery. Throw it in the garbage where it belongs.
We're disappointed to know that your floor is not meeting your expectations. We'll be in touch with you soon to learn more.
Thank you.

Having the products come to you and “one stop” sales process worked well for our family dynamic. The sales team misestimated the true installation time (est 3 days took 6). Installation team was by far the best we have encountered. Proving expert process overview and corrected time frame. The work done was top notch. Every piece of trim (including weird angles) is beautifully done. Floor preparation in advance of laying the actual floor provided a seamless beautiful look we are proud of.

When we bought this house, all the floors were carpeted except for the hallways and the entry hall. The Realtor knew somebody who put hardwood floors in and we had him do those, but that was 10 years ago. I have no idea if he's still around. So, when I saw Empire Today in the phonebook, I decided to go with them. The rep that came out was so good with all the stuff. She showed us everything and took things into the room to look how it would match other floors. It all went very well.
Empire Today called and said when the installer would be here. Immediately after, they called back and said that something had happened to the fellow and couldn’t do it that day, but they would be here the next day. And sure enough, they called the next morning and said that the fellow that’s gonna do it is on his way. I had them install a vinyl floor in the bedroom. It looks like hardwood, and it was a lot cheaper. It was shocking how fast the installer got in and out and did such a great job, and everything faultlessly got through. My husband uses a walker and he had ruined the carpet. It was marked up badly. But this floor doesn’t show any of it. It looks so pretty. Once in a while, if he turns the walker really fast, it makes a little mark and it comes right off.

Original Review: June 16, 2018
I purchased carpet and PVP flooring, it was installed on 5/5/18. I have since decided to redecorate the bathroom with the LVP, including replace the vanity. I was notified by the contractor doing the bathroom that the flooring was not placed under the vanity. One of the reasons I decided to use LVP was the water resistance, now if the sink leaks, water can get under the new flooring. First the contractor contacted Empire Today on my behalf in an attempt to purchase more flooring for under the vanity area and was told they did not sell the flooring nor do partial room installs.
Today I called Empire Today to speak with customer service and waited on hold 45 minutes, during which time I went to the website and chatted with Jose who filled out a service request for me. They will call within 3 business days. I'm not confident that this will occur. Just for comparison I then called back to see if I was interested in getting a quote for new flooring how long the wait would be and my call was picked up on the first ring. To me this speaks volumes about their customer service values.
We're sorry to hear this, Debra! We'll be in touch with you shortly to make things right.

I'm very disappointed with #empiretoday. After I received the laminate flooring, I've been having issues. 1st they didn't put the toilet back in correctly, which caused it to leak. And I was told they will come 5-7 days to come and rectify the issue. So I had to PAY someone else to come out to fix the issue. There's a reason why we have a toilet... to use it. The 2nd issue we had, the laminate started to bubble up at the entrance of my coat closet. They came to fix the issue. And the 3rd and worse issue I have is my floor squeaks when you walk on it. Yes. Squeaks.
I called and they came out and took pics, recorded the squeaking when you walk throughout the house. Yes. Every room squeaks. They trimmed the edge of the laminate at the wall, and said it will go away... in a month or so. Whaaat. This is not what I paid for. So like a dummy, I waited a week. And the whole bottom floor STILL SQUEAKS. I called AGAIN. They said the reason why it squeaks is because water must of spilled or whatever we use to clean the floor. The SALESPERSON who came told me the floor is SCRATCH PROOF, AND WATERPROOF. NOOO. I have scratches on my floor by moving the couch, and my dog. And I have kids. That's why I PURCHASED WATERPROOF. The lady I called told me, they can replace my floor with a discount... I PAID FOR A FLOOR ALREADY. Why do I need to pay for ANOTHER floor.

We had luxury vinyl plank installed in our whole downstairs except the kitchen yesterday. We were so excited and it quickly turned into a nightmare. Our sales representative told us that the LVP could be placed right over our hardwood which was true, but he failed to inform us that it would be a different level from the areas that were carpeted. The installers informed us of this and we of course wanted our floors one level. Because of this, the hardwood had to be removed and Empire right off the bat charged us an extra $300, though this was not quoted or communicated at the time of sale. We felt very misled.
In addition, we are very unhappy with multiple pieces of our flooring. Our toilet was unable to be reinstalled and we are having to call in a plumber. Quarter round was used at every door entrance, which is going to get incredibly dirty. Transition pieces (that really don’t even match) were used at two of three entrances in our kitchen, but the third, white quarter round was used. Under our door frames, huge spaces were left where the hardwood was before installation. These are all issues that should be able to be fixed that we are now having to go through and deal with. We expected an easy process and for the entire project to be completed yesterday but now we are having to deal with after effects and inconsistency throughout our floor. What we were hoping was going to be a good investment in our home has become incredibly disappointing and we are very upset with our purchase from Empire.

I was drawn to the lifetime warranty that came with Empire's carpeting thus I had them install it in two bedrooms. My dog soiled the previous carpet so I changed it. I like that the new carpet from Empire is urine resistant. Also, the people who installed it came on time and were really fast, and got the job done. My only thing is that whatever chemicals the carpet was treated with, it irritates my skin. I got a really bad rash all over when I was doing some exercises on the floor.

When I mentioned that he said no and then went out to get the samples that were on sale. This seemed a little bit like bait and switch to me. The installers were wonderful. However, I had some belated questions about pricing and thought that I had been overcharged. It took ten days of calling to finally get hold of someone who could answer my questions. The customer service was extremely poor and frustrating because nobody would return my calls or let me speak to someone who knew something. I was a naive consumer. Since my list is so long, I'll make points, though let me start with saying my actual sales rep, Brian, was the only positive thing about the experience (that I'm STILL dealing with). Brian comes out and gave a quote of $3389 for 3 bedrooms & a living room, along with samples. I told him I needed it cleared with my dad, as he was the one putting down the deposit. A day or two later I received a phone call from a man identifying himself as Marcus saying the carpet was in overstock & we could get it for $3173…about $216 savings. Dad & I agreed, and Brian came out with a ‘change of order’ form to sign, where it clearly states in writing that the new price was $3173. That day, my dad put down the $330 deposit, and scheduled the installation for that Friday morning.
By this time, it was documented on paper and at the corporate office that my roommate & I work nights, but they said they’d start Friday morning as long as one of us could run home and do the walk-through afterward. They were supposed to be here BY 9am, but got a call from Scott—the warehouse manager—that there were problems at the warehouse and it could be an hour longer. I said that was not a problem as it would give me an extra hour to rest. He then calls close to 11am & said “we are going to do a short little job first and be at your place by 3pm”. Told him the latest one of us could be wait would be 1:30, & asked why we were getting pushed back (a surprise b-day dinner for my roommate was scheduled for that Sat. night). He placed the blame on ME saying I told him I needed to sleep. Skip forward a few arguments and it is agreed they would be at the house by 10am Sat. morning.
I finally called him at noon wondering where they were, & he said they called many times AND came to the house but no one answered. I believe one of his exact statements were “my drivers can’t waste their day because you can’t get up on time. The warehouse is closed now.” I had NO missed calls & our security camera showed no one EVER at our door. Naturally I was now VERY upset, & when he kept saying they called, I finally said “THAT IS ABSOLUTE BS” (though I used the actual words). He then started in with “I do not have service you if you’re going to yell and cuss at me!” He said that several times before I literally began to laugh & said “sir, I said ONE cuss word, and based on the lies you keep telling, I’m surprised that’s ALL I’ve said!" (Our sales rep later verified there was NEVER even a job order for Saturday!)
At this point I wanted to cancel, but they already had $338, so though Scott lied AGAIN, we agreed to do it Sunday. We literally stayed up all night, then watched as the truck stopped 2 houses down. We waved them back to our house where the crew leader said they had come to the house the day before—until we showed him the security camera. He back-tracked REAL fast at that point. So they get started & the lead tells me I need to call an 800# to give the rest of my payment. I did, and then had to write in a code given to me by the person I spoke with, that verified my payment went through. The carpet was installed (nice guys there too, but only 1 spoke English)...then I wake up Monday to FIVE voicemails from Scott saying my payment was either bogus or had non-sufficient funds!
So on top of that insult, I looked at my card transactions, & they charged $3150.10—over $215 what was owed! So in a nutshell, The complaint number I was given when I called to tell someone about Scott’s words/actions were supposed to be followed up by a “customer care representative” & never was, and now that they owe me $216.10, I can’t seem to get a single person to A) Call me back in the 24 hours promised & B) after refusing to get off the phone until I talk to a manager this 3rd day, found out there was no record of a guy named Marcus giving me the discount, despite the ‘change of order’ copy I have in hand, signed by my sales rep! If I do not hear from them in the next 12 hours giving me the refund, I will take this to The Better Business Bureau. This place is too big to get decent customer service. Their right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing, so you are constantly caught up in red tape if you have a problem.
This is not the experience that we wish on for our customers, and we'll be looking into your concerns.
Thank you for your patience.

Zero stars... Floor installation happened in February. A job took they said would take a day took 2 days and on a school night at my house until 11pm, they still didn't have enough material to finish. Upon further review, many of the pieces were installed incorrectly and transition and flooring boards were not the right color. They then scheduled and didn't show up to 2 appointments to fix and then we escalated to a higher manager level. They came out in May and noted all the issues and scheduled the fix for Memorial Day weekend also saying that the same incompetent installer would not be handling this.
We changed our family plans to be available on Saturday but the installer called and said he received the order this morning and his partner was on vacation and they couldn't make it -- it was also the same incompetent installer we were told would not be involved. The manager then called to say that WE cancelled the appointment. Came out again to fix a month later with same incompetent installer who has now installed wrong color floor so we have half a cherry floor, 3 different thresholds style that look absurd next to each other and they left all the staples sticking out of the quarter round which is dangerously for my dog and kids. Still not resolved after 4 months of them not being able to complete a job and lying about completing the job.

We were relying on the professional to tell us if there was anything we needed to do on our end to help expedite what was necessary to get the service provided. And it was not until the first day of the installation that we realized that there was more needed to be done. And so it took three different installs before we finally got it right.
The sales professional was very professional in the beginning. He did not stay that way, however, until he realized we were serious about the installation and that we were not going to let it go and just drop it. This is something we wanted and we were willing to pay the price for it. We wanted to be dealt with professionally and properly. And so, it started out great then it went stylish for a minute. I had two rooms installed with new carpet. Empire was quicker on getting it done compared with other companies, so I went with them. I got a medium grade carpet and I like the color and thickness of it. It's neither expensive nor cheap, but the price seemed really good. The warranty was also really nice. On the day of installation, they needed the payment, so one of the guys that installed took my checking account number, the check number, and went out to their van and called it in. But he missed a number on the check. So, Empire was saying that the check didn’t go through and that the bank wouldn’t accept it. They also thought that they weren’t getting paid but I told them that they were gonna get paid. We went back and forth with that then they told me that I needed to call the bank, so I did. We went through that for three weeks and it was a hassle. So, they need to a pay a little better attention when they’re writing numbers down.

I contacted Empire Today flooring to install new carpet upstairs in my master bedroom, hallway, and stairs. This was the worst mistake EVER. The initial visit with the salesman Ed was fine, but after that it was downhill from there. We set an install date, but was never given a time until that day. This was never told to us that the install times are between 8 am and 6 pm. I would have informed the salesman that morning is the time I want. This way the installers can get in and out in a decent time. I called the morning of my appointment to see if I could get a time as I would not want an appointment late in the afternoon. I explained to the gentleman that I didn't want a late appointment. He placed me on hold and called the installers. He returned to the line and informed me they would be to me between 1-2. The installers arrived at 1:45 with no phone call prior to showing up.
The installer (Maro) asked me what floors were we replacing. I showed him each area that was to be replaced. However, upon entering the master bedroom, he looked at me and said he didn't know if they could move the furniture out. I asked him were they not told there was furniture to move. He said no, but it was listed on the paperwork just not in detail. He stated he would have to call his boss. He sent a text to his boss after taking pictures of the furniture pieces. He received a call from his boss a few minutes later. Maro asked his boss did he see the pictures he sent. I could hear Maro being asked can they move the furniture. He kept saying, "I guess, I don't know." They were on the phone negotiating a price for Maro and his partner to get paid to move the furniture out of the room. This was so unprofessional!!! We were already told the price for replacing carpet included removing the furniture.
Needless to say, after going back and forth, the furniture was moved out. I did help a little by taping the glass and supplying tools to use. I didn't mind at all. I was even going to give the two gentleman money out of my pocket for moving the pieces because they were big furniture items. However, I changed my mind once they started acting pure money hungry and would not do any work until they were instructed since the representative on the phone could not process the check electronically correctly.
I got on the phone and asked the representative for Empire's routing number and account number so I could transfer the funds. She informed me that Empire doesn't have a routing number. I informed her this didn't make sense for a business not to have a routing number and they cash checks. She then stated, "I'm sure they have one, but we don't have that information in our office." I informed her again, this doesn't make any sense at all. While I was on the phone trying to get this resolved, the other gentleman had went back outside and brought the old carpet back in and put it back in my bedroom after he had ripped it out. UNPROFESSIONAL again!
I called the salesman that was originally out and informed him what was going on. He informed me that this was an issue on their end and they should still be working. I informed the salesman they are no longer working. He informed me he would make a call and call me back. While waiting for a return call, the installer informed me that it is too late for them to start. I asked him why when it is only 3:30 and they would not be finished with the installation anyways. He repeated the same to me. I then informed him if they didn't start today, there was no need to return. I took the day off of work and I was not going to take another day off for them. I received a call back from the salesman who I informed him of what the installer just told me. I advised the installer and the salesman, if I knew all of this was going to happen, I would have never called them.
He apologized to me for this issue and informed me the floors would get installed today and he was not sure what their problem was. He asked me had anyone called me back. I informed him no. He then asked had anyone called the installers. I asked him to hold while I asked them. I went in the room and asked them if anyone had called them. They both shook their heads no. I informed the salesman of this information and I informed him they were not working just sitting in the room. I also informed him that my husband has now gone to the bank to get a cashier's check. He asked to speak to them. I handed my phone to the Maro who seemed to be in charge and speak better English, but he really didn't want to speak with him and kept asking me who was on the phone. I informed him this was Ed from Empire. He balled up his face and kept saying, "I don't know him," several times.
He finally took the phone and after a long conversation, they got back to work. I was so ticked off by now! Mind you, the account we use, we use daily for all of our business transactions as well as personal transactions. NEVER had an issue with a business being able to not process a check from us. NEVER. Just a few weeks prior, we wrote out several checks to another business for window replacements. No issue at all. Empire says they accept checks, but in actuality, they want either a money order, cash, or a credit or debit card. If this is the case, then they need to stop lying to consumers and remove the check option from their list of payment options. I prefer to use checks for business transactions to avoid giving out my credit or debit card. There is too much hacking going on.
I kept checking on the work progress, as I didn't want the workers in my home late at night. When the master bedroom was done, I started the cleanup process to help them speed up and get out of my home. I piled the extra carpet and paper in a big pile. I vacuumed the entire room and made my way to the hallway once he was finished with the seaming. While cleaning the hallway, I noticed that one of the gentleman used my restroom. If they would have asked me, I would not have said no, but I would have directed them of which one to use. It would not have been my upstairs bathroom. I do think you are suppose to ask any homeowner if you can use their facilities. Not just take it upon yourself to do so.
The other installer was finishing the stairs while cleanup was being done upstairs by me and the other installer Maro. Once all the trash was removed, Maro helped complete the work on the stairs. Once all this was done, they began place the furniture back into place. I oversaw this as they only had to place two pieces back in the room instead of all the pieces that were removed. This was all done and by now it was 8:30 pm and I was tired and ready for them to leave. I understand fully why homeowners do a lot of projects (DIY) themselves and choose to do other work after they have moved out of the home. This is EXACTLY where I am at based off of this experience!
Companies take your money and then want to treat you like crap. I would not recommend Empire Today Flooring to anyone at all and I would NEVER use them again. I noticed the next day during another round of cleanup, that the installer placed some of the trash in my bathroom trashcan and the seam in two of the bedrooms is not very well done. I had to use a heavy toolbox to sit over the door seam for a few days to see if it would lay the seam down more. I am so disappointed with the ENTIRE process from Empire!
We regret to hear about your experience, and we'll be further reviewing your concerns.

So, I had to do carpet with Empire Today and the guy who did the installation was really good. I got one board that's not down too good and it goes into the hardwood where the carpet goes in there, with just one nail. I don't know how to put it back down, but it's pushed up a little bit. Empire Today did everything that they were supposed to do and the carpet was installed in the living room and dining room. However, I picked the wrong carpet and it was my fault. The carpet is off-white and I should have picked one with a little more design and character in it, so it wouldn't show anything that drops on the floor. Nevertheless, the new carpet is okay and I'm satisfied.

I just moved from a larger, 1500 square-foot home which I could not handle anymore. I had purchased thicker pieces of laminated wood for my living room, hallway and three bedrooms from Empire Today to get rid of the dirty carpeting through the house. I went through Lowe's and Home Depot but still I liked Empire's price. Their salesperson and I had good rapport. However, I ordered one product but when the men came out to install the flooring, I noticed that they were going to use a totally different one.
I was really upset so I called the office and the person whom I spoke to told me that they had a center piece of wood which was the same color but it was another product. At that point I told them I didn't care and I just wanted the job done. I had been putting it off and trying to make arrangements to have people come out here. I had Home Depot and Lowe’s come out and give me estimates. I was just at my wit’s end. I wanted it done, so I told them, to put the flooring in.
There was a whole crew of installers and they had the job done within the day. I was totally pleased and happy with them. Since then, I've been liking what I have. I like the coloring of the floor which is more like natural ash wood or the Real MCoy. Still, the man who sold me the product showed me something different. I told the district manager of Empire that it sounded like a bait and switch but I accepted it anyway. I was desperate to have the job completed. Others should not get over-excited about the flooring that they bought whenever it comes in because it might be the wrong product.

As soon as I had gotten it, I contacted them and said that it was not wearing well. It was bunching up. They sent somebody out after I called three times and I was told that the carpet had excess carpet fiber down deep and it was separating the carpeting. There's a lot involved in getting carpeting and it was such an ordeal that I just let it go. I bought their top quality carpet and I told them that I wouldn't do it again. Our experience with Empire Today was very good. We had some carpeting installed in our living room. The two men were efficient and friendly but stuck to their work. The only problem that happened was the guy who laid the rug, and he probably didn't even know it, cut the phone line. We called and they said, "No problem," and they sent somebody right over the next day. It was amazing. He was able to pull out a little just enough, two inches of what was left over. He fixed it and the phone was ringing. We were very pleased and then he got us a peace offering, another part that we're gonna be able to use. They were very good and they took everything and they worked very hard. My husband likes the quality of Empire's rugs better than other brands. Their cost is better, too. The new carpeting is clean, although we probably chose a little wrong because the color's a little too light. But it's gonna be okay.

They had it on their shoulders and they slipped out underneath of it and slammed it onto the floor. And the brown caps on my light fixtures in the basement popped out. I am old but I moved everything so these people really had nothing to argue about it. But I couldn't move my bed, TV set, and living room sofas as those were too heavy for me. Also, the installers unplugged my cable and it took me over a week to get it back in order.
When they left, I thought everything was fine so I told them that I was happy with what they did. However, within a week, the carpet was matting in certain areas where I would walk and I didn't believe that I received what I picked out. I'm not happy with the look of it at all. The installers who came were nice young men. They were very helpful and they answered questions. I noticed, however, that some of the dry wall in my bedroom was pulled off when they pulled the base board away. I would have liked to have that pointed out to me but they didn't, and I found it myself. They did the best they could to pick up a majority of the trash but there was still a small amount left in my bathroom, so I wound up having to clean all that up myself. Also when I called Empire, it was the last day of the sale that they advertised on TV which was 75% off everything. The lady I talked to confirmed that I’d get that promotion since I was scheduling the purchase that day. However, when the installer came, the man said that the 75% off was only for the carpet and I'd get 50% off everything. After 3 days and multiple calls to Empire I am still not sure the job was done correctly. I spoke with the installation manager who blamed the salesperson for incorrect figures which caused a shortage of material on the 1st day then a shortage of materials on the 2nd day. Based on the salesperson my job was 530 ft². However after my own measurements I found the job to be 475 ft². On the 3rd day one of the original installers is in my home with two new people, one who claims to be a supervisor. The job is incomplete and my patience is long past exhausted. They have created a need to refinish my baseboards and totally annihilated any plans I had with out of town guests.
The installation manager was rude and without concern and wanted me to understand he had not been available due to a doctor's appointment. He did tell me that he would try to get me a $300 credit but that would have to wait until next week. I am concerned on many levels: 1) the quality and efficiency of the work is questionable. 2) Customer service on the local and corporate level is laughable. 3) Not once has anyone offered any identification to indicate affiliation to Empire. 4) Finally the salesperson had one measurements was too low based on the installation manager but based on my calculations it was excessive.
Empire corporate does nothing but make notes and attempt to contact local management but is forced to leave messages. All in all I could've hired local and had the job done right, less expensive and quicker. I guess Empire is building their empire on the backs of their customers. Almost $5000 for a job which could've been done for less and better.

They were supposed to come on Tuesday to install carpet and they couldn’t come that day and then they had to install flooring before they could install carpet. So, it was a little bit of confusion. Nevertheless, they still got that done that week and everything was done well. They are worth a try.

I had three wall-to-wall carpets installed in three bedrooms by Empire Today. They turned out beautifully. The installers were fabulous because there was a lot of heavy furniture to be moved around, and they did an excellent job. A couple of weeks after the installation, I noticed on my master bedroom, where the piece of wood is dividing the room to room, there was an indentation on that rug. And it looked like there was no padding under it or it needed more padding under it. So I called the service department to have a service man come over and look at it. I had an appointment on June 1st.
I received an automated call on the morning of June 1st that a service person will come between 8:00 and 6:00 that day. So, about 11:00 o’clock in the morning I called thinking that they have an idea of the round about time when they would be here. Then, they put me on hold, they checked with the service person, they got on again and they told me that the service person would be here between 1:00 and 3:30 that afternoon. So I said fine.
Then, it was 4:00 o’clock and nobody had called or showed up. So I called back again. They put me on hold again, got in touch with the service person said they wouldn't be here till 7:00 at night. I have a sick husband and I could not do 7:00 at night. That was too late for me. So, I spoke to a supervisor, who wouldn't give me her last name but she gave me her extension number and told me that she would take care of everything. I said, "Look, I prefer a morning appointment. I took off from work to be here and the least you can do to accommodate me is to give me another appointment for the morning." And she said,” Okay.” She never called me and nobody ever got back to me.
So, I called again. I set up another appointment for yesterday, June 6, Wednesday. The same scenario, the automated message came on telling that somebody would be there between 8:00 and 6:00 today. They could not give me the time. So then again, I waited until 11:00. Because my time was valuable just as well as their service people's time is to them, I said that they get me in touch with them and give me a round about time. I understand they couldn't give me an approximate. So they said, "Oh, they'll be there definitely between 1:00 to 4:00,” meaning yesterday. I said, “Okay that's fine." And then again nobody called, nobody showed up. I called back and the girl called again and said, "Oh, they won't be there till 6:00 o'clock". I said, "No, this isn't acceptable. Let me speak to a supervisor."
So I did speak to this very nice lady named Yvette. She is supposed to be a supervisor. She put me on hold and said she was going to get in touch with the New York office. I have an appointment now for this coming Monday and Yvette told me to call her if nobody is there by 10:00 in the morning. The service department is not very well with me, but the installation went very well.

The quality is good with Empire. They are a little bit more expensive than other brands we considered but I went with what my wife wanted and she wanted them. The installers gave us a heads up before coming in in the morning then they cut some of the pieces and took everything apart. We had everything moved for them, then they got the installation for the carpet in our whole home all done in a day. So, it was a good experience. There's a big difference from what the carpet was and personally, how soft it is now is my favorite.

In fact, I had a private guy that had done some work for me. I had him scheduled and he kept changing the dates. And then finally, he never answered the phone and he never got back to me. So I just dumped him, looked for somebody and I found Empire Today in the phone book. I was surprised that they had next day service so I thought I'd give them a try because I was in a hurry I want to get the place rented. I like their speed. Their reps came very quickly. They measured the day before we picked out a carpet and everything went smoothly. Their installers came early and they were done in three hours.
However, I paid a little more than I wanted, especially when everything was set and they'd just have put the foam under it and then the carpet. Nonetheless, I will use them again. I have six apartments so we're always doing something in them, damaged flooring, carpeting, laminate, etc. So far, Empire Today has met all my expectations and I was very happy with it. They didn't do it right this time and I didn't like it. I told them about the problem and it was something that it was on the floor already from the rug before, and they were gonna leave that one. I told them to change it but then their installer said that if they changed that then my tiles would get messed up. Since I only did the living and dining room this time, one can tell that the old flooring that they installed looks better than the one they put in recently.

It was 9:30 before we left the house and I had another 50 miles to drive to get home. That was the real hassle. Maybe they should start an install in the morning and finish it because they were so late in finishing the carpet that I didn’t get time to put the two closets up. I’m partial to Mohawk carpeting because their carpeting that I had years ago stood well. At first, I went into the big-box stores and priced carpeting. The padding was separate and you had to have a different crew come in and lay the carpeting. Plus, I had to move the furniture myself.
By the time I figured out that it wasn’t worth my while, I would be paying Empire about the same price to come in and lay the carpeting I wanted with the padding. And they would move the furniture. There were only two couches, a couch and a love seat, and the TV. The guys disconnected the TV, picked it up, and put it in the kitchen. I never even thought of doing that because all the rest of the furniture was in the bedroom. And upstairs, the dresser was too tall to put in the storage area, so they worked around it.

Empire Today has the worst communication and customer service I have ever experienced! My original installation was in March. The carpet was fine but the tile installation was horrible. The guys that installed it didn't know what they were doing. They told me the equipment they had would not allow them to cut the tile so it would fit around the corners of my kitchen, bathrooms and pantry. So, what they did is just round the corners and fill it in with grout!! They thought this was fine!! The tile they laid down is not even so you could trip walking through my house if you aren't looking.
The supervisor I've been dealing with for the last two months has done nothing but credit me 300. I need a lot more refunded than that at this point! He also never never calls back when he says he is. I have to keep calling and calling! His name is Quinton **. I've had multiple people from the company come out and look at it and take pictures and say how horrible it is but nothing has been fixed! Quinton had set up people to come fix over the Mother's Day weekend and I told him Saturday I was ok with but Sunday is Mother's Day. I wouldn't be home so the guys said they would come back on the 25th and 26th which is today and tomorrow.
I woke up early so I would be ready. No one came and no one called. I called Quinton twice and he has not called me back and customer service shows no date on file of anyone coming out to fix??!! Unbelievable!! The guys who did the tile also broke my toilet!! I came home to a pile of water on my new bathroom tile!! Empire Today would not fix my toilet and I was without it for three weeks and I had to pay to get it fixed. Not ok!! I had no issues with the toilet until they removed to do tile work.
They also made me go to Home Depot to buy the kit to put toilet back in. I've had problems from the first moment the installers came. First I was told by the carpet guys that there was no order for carpet in my living room and so I had to fight to get that fixed! Two weeks later they brought carpet and finished that. Then when tile guys came they said they don't show that tile was ordered for my pantry or under my stove so then again I had to battle with Empire over that! Now I'm trying to get a supervisor to return my calls and fix this horrible tile job and obviously I'm not being placed as a priority. No returned phone calls and no follow through!! Someone should be doing more for me and following through to make sure I'm satisfied. Horrible company!!

Got a call at 8:01 a.m. in which a recorded message told me the installers would be at the location "this afternoon" and that I could speak to a representative if I wanted to, but the representative had no more information. I don't live at the location and decided to go to the house early to accomplish some others tasks before the installers arrived (I'm getting the house ready to put on the market.)
At 9:55 I was in the garage with the door open when I saw a van pull up blocking the driveway. I thought it was the previous renter coming to get his stuff from my garage, then realized no this was no one I knew. I walked toward the van and said, "Who are you?" The reply, "Empire." (Good thing I got to the house early!) Three foreigners started walking toward the house -- No, I don't mind foreigners as long as they can understand and speak in English. They couldn't. I very quickly discovered.
Entering the house, I said, "You'll be doing the bedrooms." One man, looking into bedroom #1, said, "Closets?" I said, "No, don't worry about the closets unless you have some extra piece that's been cut off that I can just put down in the closet. We didn't measure for the closets." (I may have said the word "closet" too many times and he misunderstood what I was telling him, apparently only understanding a few words of English.) They re-measured the rooms. Ok. He then ask me to "van, check carpet" so I followed him out to the van to verify they had the correct carpet. Good.
So they proceeded to take up the old carpet and got the new padding from the van, all the while chatting (and yelling at one another) in a foreign language -- probably Spanish, but I wouldn't swear to it. Ok, fine. Another man approached me in the kitchen and said something unintelligible, but I got the impression he wanted me to follow him when he stopped at the first bedroom door, pointed to the threshold and said, "Color?" I'm assuming he's asking me what color to put down on the threshold strip. "What colors do you have?" He looked at me uncomprehendingly and motioned for me to follow him to the van (At least he realized I had asked a question. Thank goodness for inflection.)
Ok, by now I know this guy doesn't have a clue what I'm saying and I'm going to prove it. At the van, he shows me two metal strips, one gold, one silver. I looked at him and very politely said, "Which one would you recommend?" His response was a look of total incomprehension. He's pointing to them again. I said (specifically not pointing), "Let's go with the gold." He doesn't understand and just looks at me with a blank stare. I proved it. Doesn't know colors in English. I pointed to the gold strip and the job proceeded.
So when they got around to getting my new carpet out of the van (which was a sort of silvery grey color--light), they proceeded to unroll the carpet across the entire street! This is a suburban house in a quiet, but not isolated neighborhood. I was just waiting for a neighbor's car to drive by and run over my carpet! Luckily that didn't happen, but when they proceeded to cut the carpet and fold it over to pick up the individual parts, they flipped it over and part of the top of the carpet (the part you see of course, not the underlayment) was on the street! And I'm thinking to myself, "Well now that was intelligent!" But I'll wait and see after installation.
So, they start installing. At one point, as the one guy who knew a few words of English said to me, "closets" and pointed. I wasn't sure what he was trying to say about the closets so I went and looked and yes, they had installed the new carpet in the closets of the two bedrooms they were working on -- not the master suite. Ok, better have enough carpet to complete the job, I thought. Foreign chattering, yelling between the rooms, music playing, ok.
Now, it's about 85 degrees outside so I had turned the air conditioner on 72 to make sure it was comfortable for them to be working. (I had also turned on the self-cleaning oven on so that was warming things up a bit!) Two of the guys, including the one who spoke one English word, started working in the master bedroom (I was in the kitchen. Same floor--small house.) He came to me and said some kind of unintelligible utterance and walked back down the hallway. I gathered he wanted me to follow, which I did. He was standing by the thermostat, pointing at it and trying to say something which I couldn't begin to understand. He's gesturing with a "thumbs up" motion while pointing at the thermostat.
I'm trying to ask, "Do you want it up? Warmer?" He looks at the other guy standing there, says something; the other guy can't help him because he doesn't understand English either. He's shaking his head no. "You want it cooler?" I said. Shaking his head no. I tried changing the setting to reflect "73, 74, 75", he's shaking his head no. I go back down on the thermostat "74, 73, 72", he's shaking his head no. I'm confused! The two of them are standing there looking at me like there's something wrong with me! And the one is pointing at the thermostat. I finally said, "You want me to turn it off?" I turned it off. That got a hearty nod. Geez! Why can't people working in America -- where we speak English, learn to speak English if they want to work in this country? Drives me nuts!
They did do a good job, except the master bedroom closet has the old carpet in it. Oh well. Not a huge deal, but I would have preferred, If they were going to install the carpet in the closets -- which I had initially told them we hadn't measure for, but they probably didn't understand me, I would have preferred the master bedroom walk-in closet instead of the other bedrooms. Now, if you care about American workers doing American jobs, don't hire Empire. If you'd like to actually communicate with workers in your home, don't hire Empire.
I think I'll be calling ICE about Empire's installers. They're probably not here legally and work cheap. I have no problem with people coming to America for a better life. I just firmly believe they should do so legally and learn the language! How many of us go to a foreign country to work without learning the prevailing language of that country? Senseless.
We're disappointed to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we'll be reviewing your concerns.

They were excellent, responsible, and clean during installation and they just moved everything so easily. I was pleased with everything but the financing which turned out to be exactly what we did not want. I was supposed to get financing with no interest and it was supposed to be $38 a month.
I know that Empire does not do the financing like the financing he promised. He took it as though it came through. He took my check and everything and said it went through, no problem. Then, they reneged and did not accept. He had to try again and that didn’t work. And then, he tried again and no. Also, they changed companies two or three times because I’m almost 88 and I have no credit score now because my son gets everything for me. Everything I need, he buys and he gets his credit score raised. So, I got a different company and now, I have to pay $147 and some cents.
I've told people how much we like the flooring. We liked it so well, I was hoping that I would be able to get the family room and the sunroom done, but not with this kind of prices because the interest that was supposed to be zero, it’s 29.99% which means I have 30% interest. I would not recommend it because of the financing.

I’m sure they have a computer system and someone should have been able to tell that the carpet was not there because I had to rearrange furniture. I did a lot of things to be prepared for the installation of the carpet. And to get a call that morning at 8:30 and I was expecting the people to come at 9 and just the explanation, “We don’t have the carpet.”, that was terrible. After that, it took a while for somebody to explain to me when I was gonna get my carpet or I never got a clear explanation as to why the carpet was not there except that sometimes, these things happen.
I have recommended Empire to a friend of mine who was getting some work done but after this carpet thing, I don’t know. I don’t wanna ever do business with Empire again. I don’t wanna recommend Empire to anybody too because I don’t want them to have this kind of a problem. Communication is very important. If Empire Today won’t be able to deliver when they say, they have to give the customer a heads-up an hour or more than 30 minutes before the installers are supposed to be there. Nevertheless, I got my carpet put in and it was a week the following Saturday. The installation of the carpet was excellent. I also got a $75 discount for my inconvenience which was somewhat satisfactory. Other than that, I love my carpet.

We had Empire Today install hardwood floors in the living room and the hallway of our home. Their rep came out, talked to me and showed me samples. He was very cordial. The workers came in and did their job. They were very nice and polite. I like the fact that I can just sweep the floor and mop, and I do not have to drag out a vacuum cleaner. We've got dogs so there's hair everywhere. So I just sweep it all up and it's gone.

I had Empire Today install carpeting in my bedroom and vinyl wood floor in my bathroom. I've used those products for over 50 years and I've always had good results so I went with them. But I had a lot of trouble with the pricing. The saleslady quoted a price of $614 for the floor in the bathroom. I had it black and white on paper and we both signed it. But when they came to install the flooring, they gave me a paper signed for $789. The same thing happened with the carpeting. So I called to cancel and a guy talked to me, trying to give me a better deal. But I was very disappointed in that and it seems to me that the salesmen lie. It had been quite an experience.

I needed something fast and Empire gave a faster response than the other companies. Plus I went with them for the time they were available. They installed the carpet in my home's bedroom and stairs. The carpet type was on sale and it was a good price. It met my expectations and I like its feel and thickness.

We had used Empire previously but with another house. They were highly recommended and they were very good. We had laminated kitchen flooring done by Empire Today and we had the whole house carpeted other than the kitchen and our laundry room. We changed the kitchen flooring after we first picked out something different a bit lighter. But then, when we saw it and realized it wasn’t gonna match, we changed it a couple of days before we had it installed and everything went well.

Empire Today was a little bit higher in price than a couple of other brands, but I just like the carpet. It was installed in the den, living room and bedroom, and the guy who came in did an excellent job. He was a one-man team and he did everything and he cleaned up. He was an outstanding employee. The carpet has met my expectations, so far. And I’d recommend Empire to anybody.

I am writing this note to document the absolutely disgraceful experience I had with Empire Today. May 10th: One of Empire’s “Flooring Consultants” came to our new home to measure and provide pricing. We informed him that it was critical that our carpet be installed in our new home prior to our move on May 19th. Obviously, it’s much easier, less work and less cost to install carpet when there’s nothing there. By the way, I won’t name the consultant as I happen to believe his intentions were OK. In any event, after checking with whomever he checks with, he assured us that our carpet would be installed on May 17th. We had actually priced carpet elsewhere and knew that Empire’s pricing was a bit higher. But, for the convenience and commitment to have it installed when we needed it, we decided to pay that premium.
May 16th: Empire’s Customer Service Department called to say we’d be getting a call in the morning to let us know when our installers would be there. May 17th: I received a call at approximately 7:20 with a message that Empire would not be able to install the carpet today because they had no installers available. But no worries as they’d be happy to install it a few weeks from now. After I cooled down, suggested a simple ideas: why not ask if they could install it tomorrow. I called customer service back and after some holds and checking, I was told that yes, in fact, they could install it tomorrow. Again was told that someone would phone me by 10:30 to let me know when they’d be there. I also received a text confirming that my carpet would be installed tomorrow.
May 18th: The day I’m documenting this and a day before I’m moving. By 10:30 I had not received a call from an installer. After calling customer service, I was told I’d be hearing from someone by 11:00. Still didn’t happen. At 11:10 I received a call from the Tampa office who informed that they would not be installing my carpet today. They had no installers. When I asked why I was told they would be installing, I was told that customer service just says that and they really don’t check with the offices who do the installations. Again, I was beyond disgusted. I cancelled my order.
This is an absolute disgrace. It shows an absolute lack of integrity and it’s the ultimate in bait and switch. I committed to working with them for the specific promise made that they clearly didn’t care about keeping. This company should not be allowed to do business this way with no repercussion. I know I’m not the only dissatisfied customer as there are 524 negative reviews on the Better Business Bureaus website. I intend to continue to make this experience public so others won’t be subject to the same disgraceful treatment.
Updated on 05/30/2018: The experience kept getting comically worse. After posting the narrative above, I was finally contacted by a real-live human being. He barely apologized before offering me $200 off to re-schedule the installation. I told him I’d check if we still wanted it and would get back to him. A day later, a completely different person called me and offered me an additional $150 to re-schedule the installation. Wow, they must really mark up the carpet if 2 different people can know the price off this easily. This past Sunday, I was sent an email to confirm an installation on June 1, a day I never suggested, asked about or discussed. I called yesterday to cancel my order and was told it was already cancelled. And finally today, I was sent a robotic customer survey to ask “Why I chose not to do business with Empire Today”. Pathetic.
We're sorry to hear this! We'll be in touch with you shortly to discuss your concerns.
Thank you.

I looked at several different brands of floors the first time and Empire Today had the best selection so I went with them. I had my bedroom floors done several years ago. And then two, three years ago, I had the rest of my apartment, the living room and the hallway done. And then recently, I had them put new blinds and shades. So far, I’ve been happy with them. I have a lot of allergies so the laminated wood floor is the best. They look clean and nice, and they’re okay. And I got cordless shades in my living room. I have three windows of them and they’re bottom up, top down. They are the greatest. I also have wood ones in my bedroom but I didn’t get all the windows with the shades cordless.
Their reps were very quick and very professional. The installation took 11 hours and it was very good. I did recommend them to a friend a couple of years ago when I got my floor done. She came over, looked at them and she thought they did a great job. She purchased carpeting and then she also went back to them for shades and blinds. I didn’t know that Empire had these cordless blinds. But she told me and that’s why I went to them. Overall, it was a great experience. If I had to do anything again, I would definitely call Empire Today.

I had Empire Today do two and a half rooms of laminate, three full closets, and I had carpeting put down on three or four stairs. My salesperson was very nice. However, they put the wrong carpeting down. It was not what I picked and I wasn't happy with it. They came and redid it in May. But then, I didn't get a bill. Since I had something redone, I thought they consolidated the bill together before sending it to me. But it turned out that Empire Today sent it to the wrong address. In January, I had the consulting come to the house. Everything should've been written down. If I had gotten financed, everything should've been legit, including my address. I knew the monthly must've gone up. If they were missing April and May, I would pay it. That's not a problem. But I needed to have some paperwork.
The rep bothered me on a Sunday and wanted to be paid on Monday. I said that I haven't received the bill yet. I was trying to make her understand that we needed the bill in the business. But whoever I spoke to was not from the country. Also, I had a hard time talking to her because of the language barrier. I also said that I didn't know where she was calling from, but it was a holiday and Monday is another holiday, so she ain't gonna get paid by Monday. There are too many hands in the cookie jar there. I can't talk to one person and nobody bothers to speak to another person to see what's going on.
So every time somebody calls me, I gotta start with the story all over again. It's ridiculous. I'm really upset because they're saying that I'm not paying. I was gonna have work done next year on the rest of my house, but forget it now. I'm not doing it. Still, I'm happy that I financed it and it worked out well that way. The flooring is beautiful and they did a beautiful job.

It was a good, quick deal and it was all done easily, and there was no $50 deposit. I had Empire put carpeting in the hall, living room, and dining area. During the installation, the fellas were right on the money. They came in on a regular truck, did their job, and cleaned up after themselves. I like that the flooring has been replaced. So far, and the carpeting that Empire put in is good. I've already recommended Empire Today to my grandson.

I had laminate flooring installed by Empire Today in my entire home. I looked at other brands and found that Empire was a bit more expensive, but I liked the presentation that the sales rep gave. She came out to my house at 8 o'clock at night and stayed 'till after 10:00. She's very professional. She showed me everything, gave me lots of choices and I like that. It was a convenient thing for me as well. I have three grandchildren at home that I take care of all the time because my daughter passed away and I didn't have time to go out and just shop for a lot of laminate. When you have a 1-1/2-year-old, a 3-1/2-year-old and an 8-year-old in your house 24/7, you do not want carpet.
I love everything about the flooring. I love the color. We're having some remodeling done right now but I have to go with the flooring before everything so it's lovely but the time I finish. But so far, it has met my expectations. Empire is prompt and very efficient. And as far as price goes, they might be a little more expensive but for the quality and workmanship and the install, it's worth it.

Empire Today installed for us the kitchen flooring and it was laminated. I looked at the floors in town, and then somebody came over to measure my area. At the time, I thought it was a little expensive and I couldn't afford it. It was before the holidays. And then, we saw Empire Today on TV saying to call them and I impulsively did so.
A man from Empire Today called me and asked if I wanted him to come out and I said that that was great. Everything went very fast and very smooth. He started giving me estimates and I knew what my ballpark figure was from the holidays before. And so I told him that I did my homework and had this figure in mind. I wanted something below $2000, and he said, "How about $1955?" 1955 was the year I graduated high school, and so I said that 1955 was a very good year and since it was below $2000, he got a deal. Before he even gave me an estimate, he asked that if he got to my ballpark, will I do the installation the tomorrow, and I said yes, though I had to cancel a doctor's appointment for my eyes. And so he said they'll do it the following day instead, which was a Saturday.
When we moved here, the kitchen was white with the cabinet set and my husband was wiping the floor every other day. When someone comes from the garage, footsteps get all over the white flooring. And so we went for laminate flooring with a wood effect, and we're very pleased with it. The two installers did an excellent job with the installation and that's really important. So we're very favorable all the way around. With the new flooring, we don't have to wipe it up every day. Also, we like the choices of the color.
The flooring that was installed by Empire Today has met more than our expectations. I like people with personality and the staff at Empire Today were friendly. When they worked in our home, I welcomed them like our guest, and they were. They checked everything over, put things back and then they gave the instructions what not to walk on. I would recommend Empire Today to others and tell people to go with them.

So I am a bit miffed at this time. I ordered 5500.00 worth of Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring for my house and thought I was going to get a professional installation. Was I wrong. Don't get me wrong the floors are beautiful but the finishing work is extremely shotty at best. I would think that for that amount of money the quarter round that was put down around the baseboards would have had returns added on the ends to make the work look finished, not left with bare wood ends that look like I did the work myself rather than paying a lot of money for someone to do a professional job. Also the installers left a broken flat screen tv at my house for me to dispose of that was originally in their truck at the time of install. How unprofessional is that? If you don't want your trash why do you think I would?
The contractors that did the installation also caused damages to my plumbing in the bathroom, which cost me 300.00 to fix, and they damaged the dryer vent on the dryer when putting it back in place. I have tried to contact the company since the installation to get these issues resolved and after a week of complaints the installation manager finally came to the house on 05/11/18 to take a look at the issues first hand. Upon arrival he informed me that I had "refused to pay for 300.00 dollars of build up work" that the installers had to do when doing the installation. I was NEVER informed of additional charges at the time of the installation nor was I ever presented with any paperwork showing additional charges had been assessed, and this was the first time I had ever heard this accusation. I also have not ever been given a receipt for the check payment I gave them at the time of install.
He agreed with me that the job did not look professional and told me he would contact me back on Monday 5/14/18. Well here it is Friday 05/18/18 and I still have not heard anything from him. At this point I have lost faith that the job is ever going to be resolved but I am hoping by writing this review we can finally put an end to this issue.
Thank you for making us aware of this matter. We'll be in touch with you shortly to start working on a resolution.

We had carpeting done by Empire Today in the family room, four bedrooms and the stairway. While I was okay with the price, I was very unhappy with the quality of the carpet. They told me that it was good quality but it's not. In fact, the carpeting that I still have in my living room is twice as good as the one from Empire. I was supposed to be getting an upgraded pad. But I can walk up to my stairs and different parts of my house and I can feel some of the staples. That's how thin it feels like. And the carpeting in our family room had a little bit of a pattern to it. It was a 6 x 6 square and it was of a lighter color and every time you walked on it, the footprints looked like somebody with dirty feet came into the garage and walked out. I complained to my sales person and he told me to call his manager. They just blew me off and to think it was a lot of work to get ready for it, with moving all the stuff and hooking all of our electronics.
I spent $11000 in less than a year with them and they didn't care. When we had the first job done at the condo that we owned, the installers who did the vinyl and the carpeting worked very hard and they did an excellent job. I didn't have that much of a complaint about the installers here, but I was unhappy and dissatisfied with the carpets. They seem like some cheap, flimsy stuff that you'd put in a rental that you're going to sell so it looks good. I just accepted it that this is something that I live with now but I'm still looking forward to getting that new carpeting in. The regional manager or whoever it was that the salesman turned me over to told me to vacuum it for 30 days or more and see how it looks. That's ridiculous and I will not use Empire again.
Thank you for your feedback. We'll be further reviewing your concerns.

Upon arrival with the materials it was determined that the choices made were not compatible with concrete floor they were to be installed over. After a second appointment we settled on a combination of hard surfaces and carpet with assurance that this would remedy the problem... it didn't! The hard surfaces were installed without issue and looks great. The installers were professional and efficient. On the same day the carpet installers arrived and were unhappy by the size of the job, the requirement to move furniture and tear out and dispose of old carpet... They stated it was a job that required at least 4 people. They were aggressive, foul mouthed and very condescending. After talking and arguing with their manager, they left without doing anything.
After 2 dozen calls to the sales rep, customer service, the Detroit manager etc, all we hear are promises. Getting anyone on the phone is impossible. I find that I have been charged not only for the hard surface installation, but the carpet installation as well despite assurances that the billing would be corrected. No authorization or signatures approved the charges beyond the hard surface flooring. This fraudulent behavior is shocking and unethical if not outright illegal. Buyer beware. Thankfully Wells Fargo called to verify these charges or I would still be in the dark... much appreciated. BUY AT YOUR OWN PERIL!
