This was my first time using Empire. Sales rep was good and showed up on time. Installation was crude and messy. After the installers left I noticed that they did not tack down one of the steps (I was installing wall to wall on a flight of stairs). From here things turned south. Took many repeated calls to reach a live customer support agent, and weeks for this minor repair to be scheduled. I am then expected to hang around all day until they decide to show up! First and last time using Empire.

I saw an advertisement of Empire Today and I thought to give it a try. The sales rep was excellent. He listened and worked with me to find what I wanted. He gave me options and choices and he was patient to see what I was satisfied with. The installation team was courteous and but they were kind of a little aggressive with moving stuff. They moved my buffet out of the dining room which I didn't tell them to do. I looked around and I had to move it in. Other than that, they were okay. We had carpeting installed and I love the flooring. Empire Today was prompt and they try to work with you with the prices. I was pleased with everything. I like Empire Today and the product and I would tell others to give them a try.

Was told by installers kitchen floor could not be done. My problem is no one would answer a phone, or return a call with the exception of a lady named Wanda to give me any options. So after being hung up on by an installation manager named Tommy. I decided enough is enough and canceled my entire order. I would not call Empire Today for anything. If you are in Ohio, go someplace else.

I had linoleum flooring installed in the kitchen, and carpet in the living room and the hallway. Empire was convenient and timely, so I went with them. It took approximately a month for everything to be completed though. The process was a little complicated, but it turned out wonderful. We were relying on the professional to tell us if there was anything we needed to do on our end to help expedite what was necessary to get the service provided. And it was not until the first day of the installation that we realized that there was more needed to be done. And so it took three different installs before we finally got it right.
The sales professional was very professional in the beginning. He did not stay that way, however, until he realized we were serious about the installation and that we were not going to let it go and just drop it. This is something we wanted and we were willing to pay the price for it. We wanted to be dealt with professionally and properly. And so, it started out great then it went stylish for a minute. But he came back around and we ended up with a successful situation. Also, the installers were completely professional. They were excellent. Nothing but high marks.

I heard people always say Empire Today is very expensive so I always stayed away from them. But their salesman came in and tried hard to sell me anything. I love the salesman. He presented very well and he was just excellent. I had Empire put in hardwood floors in my kitchen, and I love its overall look. The salesman also explained to me that the flooring installed will not absorb water and it won't stop buckling. I love Empire and I was well pleased with the work they’d done as well.

The floor covering is great. However when I was able to check out the quarter round installation and quality it is unsatisfactory. The quarter round is coming apart, the paper is peeling off. Also when it was installed there are several places that are not cut correctly and don't fit. It was not installed properly in front of the dishwasher so I could not replace it without removing about 6 feet of molding that I could not match. My wife has been in very bad health since December and I have to take care of her and get her to the many doctor's appointments that is the reason I am late getting this report to you. if you could have someone check it out without the service charge I think it would show you are serious about your reputation and customer satisfaction.

I had Empire Today install a carpet in my man cave down the cellar and the stairs. They did a fantastic job and I had a fantastic experience. I looked around at Home Depot and places like that beforehand, but when I talked to Empire they sounded more professional. It's like Home Depot enrolls higher people that are out of work to go do a job, not necessarily professionals. Empire's salesman came to the house and brought a bunch of samples with him. I picked out the one I wanted and he gave me a price on it. We wrote that out and they put it in two days later. Their team then came when they said they were gonna and installed the carpet. They also cleaned up after themselves. The carpet is exactly what I wanted for my man cave. I bring my dog in the house and the carpet's got short hair. When I vacuum it, it comes right up.

So, I had some hardwood flooring installed by Empire Today in the kitchen and in the hallway. It's so easy to keep clean and it's real nice. I love it and I'm satisfied with everything. When everybody comes in the house, they love it too and I tell them Empire did it. If you ever need them, give them a call.

I had two rooms installed with new carpet. Empire was quicker on getting it done compared with other companies, so I went with them. I got a medium grade carpet and I like the color and thickness of it. It's neither expensive nor cheap, but the price seemed really good. The warranty was also really nice. On the day of installation, they needed the payment, so one of the guys that installed took my checking account number, the check number, and went out to their van and called it in. But he missed a number on the check. So, Empire was saying that the check didn’t go through and that the bank wouldn’t accept it. They also thought that they weren’t getting paid but I told them that they were gonna get paid. We went back and forth with that then they told me that I needed to call the bank, so I did. We went through that for three weeks and it was a hassle. So, they need to a pay a little better attention when they’re writing numbers down.

I contacted Empire Today flooring to install new carpet upstairs in my master bedroom, hallway, and stairs. This was the worst mistake EVER. The initial visit with the salesman Ed was fine, but after that it was downhill from there. We set an install date, but was never given a time until that day. This was never told to us that the install times are between 8 am and 6 pm. I would have informed the salesman that morning is the time I want. This way the installers can get in and out in a decent time. I called the morning of my appointment to see if I could get a time as I would not want an appointment late in the afternoon. I explained to the gentleman that I didn't want a late appointment. He placed me on hold and called the installers. He returned to the line and informed me they would be to me between 1-2. The installers arrived at 1:45 with no phone call prior to showing up.
The installer (Maro) asked me what floors were we replacing. I showed him each area that was to be replaced. However, upon entering the master bedroom, he looked at me and said he didn't know if they could move the furniture out. I asked him were they not told there was furniture to move. He said no, but it was listed on the paperwork just not in detail. He stated he would have to call his boss. He sent a text to his boss after taking pictures of the furniture pieces. He received a call from his boss a few minutes later. Maro asked his boss did he see the pictures he sent. I could hear Maro being asked can they move the furniture. He kept saying, "I guess, I don't know." They were on the phone negotiating a price for Maro and his partner to get paid to move the furniture out of the room. This was so unprofessional!!! We were already told the price for replacing carpet included removing the furniture.
Needless to say, after going back and forth, the furniture was moved out. I did help a little by taping the glass and supplying tools to use. I didn't mind at all. I was even going to give the two gentleman money out of my pocket for moving the pieces because they were big furniture items. However, I changed my mind once they started acting pure money hungry and would not do any work until they were instructed since the representative on the phone could not process the check electronically correctly.
I got on the phone and asked the representative for Empire's routing number and account number so I could transfer the funds. She informed me that Empire doesn't have a routing number. I informed her this didn't make sense for a business not to have a routing number and they cash checks. She then stated, "I'm sure they have one, but we don't have that information in our office." I informed her again, this doesn't make any sense at all. While I was on the phone trying to get this resolved, the other gentleman had went back outside and brought the old carpet back in and put it back in my bedroom after he had ripped it out. UNPROFESSIONAL again!
I called the salesman that was originally out and informed him what was going on. He informed me that this was an issue on their end and they should still be working. I informed the salesman they are no longer working. He informed me he would make a call and call me back. While waiting for a return call, the installer informed me that it is too late for them to start. I asked him why when it is only 3:30 and they would not be finished with the installation anyways. He repeated the same to me. I then informed him if they didn't start today, there was no need to return. I took the day off of work and I was not going to take another day off for them. I received a call back from the salesman who I informed him of what the installer just told me. I advised the installer and the salesman, if I knew all of this was going to happen, I would have never called them.
He apologized to me for this issue and informed me the floors would get installed today and he was not sure what their problem was. He asked me had anyone called me back. I informed him no. He then asked had anyone called the installers. I asked him to hold while I asked them. I went in the room and asked them if anyone had called them. They both shook their heads no. I informed the salesman of this information and I informed him they were not working just sitting in the room. I also informed him that my husband has now gone to the bank to get a cashier's check. He asked to speak to them. I handed my phone to the Maro who seemed to be in charge and speak better English, but he really didn't want to speak with him and kept asking me who was on the phone. I informed him this was Ed from Empire. He balled up his face and kept saying, "I don't know him," several times.
He finally took the phone and after a long conversation, they got back to work. I was so ticked off by now! Mind you, the account we use, we use daily for all of our business transactions as well as personal transactions. NEVER had an issue with a business being able to not process a check from us. NEVER. Just a few weeks prior, we wrote out several checks to another business for window replacements. No issue at all. Empire says they accept checks, but in actuality, they want either a money order, cash, or a credit or debit card. If this is the case, then they need to stop lying to consumers and remove the check option from their list of payment options. I prefer to use checks for business transactions to avoid giving out my credit or debit card. There is too much hacking going on.
I kept checking on the work progress, as I didn't want the workers in my home late at night. When the master bedroom was done, I started the cleanup process to help them speed up and get out of my home. I piled the extra carpet and paper in a big pile. I vacuumed the entire room and made my way to the hallway once he was finished with the seaming. While cleaning the hallway, I noticed that one of the gentleman used my restroom. If they would have asked me, I would not have said no, but I would have directed them of which one to use. It would not have been my upstairs bathroom. I do think you are suppose to ask any homeowner if you can use their facilities. Not just take it upon yourself to do so.
The other installer was finishing the stairs while cleanup was being done upstairs by me and the other installer Maro. Once all the trash was removed, Maro helped complete the work on the stairs. Once all this was done, they began place the furniture back into place. I oversaw this as they only had to place two pieces back in the room instead of all the pieces that were removed. This was all done and by now it was 8:30 pm and I was tired and ready for them to leave. I understand fully why homeowners do a lot of projects (DIY) themselves and choose to do other work after they have moved out of the home. This is EXACTLY where I am at based off of this experience!
Companies take your money and then want to treat you like crap. I would not recommend Empire Today Flooring to anyone at all and I would NEVER use them again. I noticed the next day during another round of cleanup, that the installer placed some of the trash in my bathroom trashcan and the seam in two of the bedrooms is not very well done. I had to use a heavy toolbox to sit over the door seam for a few days to see if it would lay the seam down more. I am so disappointed with the ENTIRE process from Empire!
We regret to hear about your experience, and we'll be further reviewing your concerns.
Thank you.

I got hardwood in the hallway and I was gonna put hardwood all through. But those floors were too expensive and I couldn't afford them. So, I had to do carpet with Empire Today and the guy who did the installation was really good. I got one board that's not down too good and it goes into the hardwood where the carpet goes in there, with just one nail. I don't know how to put it back down, but it's pushed up a little bit. Empire Today did everything that they were supposed to do and the carpet was installed in the living room and dining room. However, I picked the wrong carpet and it was my fault. The carpet is off-white and I should have picked one with a little more design and character in it, so it wouldn't show anything that drops on the floor. Nevertheless, the new carpet is okay and I'm satisfied.

Empire had done some work for my husband before and I also had them install carpet for two rooms and a hallway. I checked other brands but they were a little too high for me. I also have some furniture in here that they moved and they were very nice and gentle about it.

I also got carpet for three bedrooms. They did a good job putting everything down but they cut my walls up. I called them about it and they said that since they did not get any holes in it, they couldn’t do anything about it. Other than that, I'm well-pleased with the flooring and the carpet. I had some laminate flooring from Empire Today and it was installed in the kitchen and family room. I got that flooring for its color and design. I looked at another company but the laminate from Empire Today would do the job better than what the other company was telling me. The installation was good and it was all done in one day. I just moved from a larger, 1500 square-foot home which I could not handle anymore. I had purchased thicker pieces of laminated wood for my living room, hallway and three bedrooms from Empire Today to get rid of the dirty carpeting through the house. I went through Lowe's and Home Depot but still I liked Empire's price. Their salesperson and I had good rapport. However, I ordered one product but when the men came out to install the flooring, I noticed that they were going to use a totally different one.
I was really upset so I called the office and the person whom I spoke to told me that they had a center piece of wood which was the same color but it was another product. At that point I told them I didn't care and I just wanted the job done. I had been putting it off and trying to make arrangements to have people come out here. I had Home Depot and Lowe’s come out and give me estimates. I was just at my wit’s end. I wanted it done, so I told them, to put the flooring in.
There was a whole crew of installers and they had the job done within the day. I was totally pleased and happy with them. Since then, I've been liking what I have. I like the coloring of the floor which is more like natural ash wood or the Real MCoy. Still, the man who sold me the product showed me something different. I told the district manager of Empire that it sounded like a bait and switch but I accepted it anyway. I was desperate to have the job completed. Others should not get over-excited about the flooring that they bought whenever it comes in because it might be the wrong product.
Linda your feedback is valuable to us. Thank you for sharing!

I've had Empire Today install carpeting, floors, tiles and ceramic tiles. They have worked on my home and rental property. I considered other companies but Empire Today could work on my rental property the following day, which was important to me. However, I am not really pleased with the carpeting. As soon as I had gotten it, I contacted them and said that it was not wearing well. It was bunching up. They sent somebody out after I called three times and I was told that the carpet had excess carpet fiber down deep and it was separating the carpeting. There's a lot involved in getting carpeting and it was such an ordeal that I just let it go. I bought their top quality carpet and I told them that I wouldn't do it again. Still, I've had two kitchen floors and the bathroom floors put in in the last two years and so far they're doing well. I've had the ceramic down for a good 10 years and they did a good job on that also.

Empire Today had the price range for the quality carpet that we wanted. We had them install the carpet in our two rooms on our main floor. Overall, I'm happy and the work was okay but the installers were a little bit careless when they brought the big roll of carpet in. They had it on their shoulders and they slipped out underneath of it and slammed it onto the floor. And the brown caps on my light fixtures in the basement popped out. I didn't realized until I went down there two days later. I called back and the same people who’ve installed it came back to repair. It's fine now. Also, we were referred to Empire by our daughter and her husband. And I was told that they were gonna get some kind of a Visa card thing but they never have received anything.

Our experience with Empire Today was very good. We had some carpeting installed in our living room. The two men were efficient and friendly but stuck to their work. The only problem that happened was the guy who laid the rug, and he probably didn't even know it, cut the phone line. We called and they said, "No problem," and they sent somebody right over the next day. It was amazing. He was able to pull out a little just enough, two inches of what was left over. He fixed it and the phone was ringing. We were very pleased and then he got us a peace offering, another part that we're gonna be able to use. They were very good and they took everything and they worked very hard. My husband likes the quality of Empire's rugs better than other brands. Their cost is better, too. The new carpeting is clean, although we probably chose a little wrong because the color's a little too light. But it's gonna be okay.

I saw Empire Today's commercial and it sounded pretty good. I called them to see what they had and I liked what they showed me, so I went with them. I had carpet installed in my living room and two bedrooms. When they were putting it in, the installers argued with the salespeople over the phone about moving things with me standing there. I am old but I moved everything so these people really had nothing to argue about it. But I couldn't move my bed, TV set, and living room sofas as those were too heavy for me. Also, the installers unplugged my cable and it took me over a week to get it back in order.
When they left, I thought everything was fine so I told them that I was happy with what they did. However, within a week, the carpet was matting in certain areas where I would walk and I didn't believe that I received what I picked out. I'm not happy with the look of it at all. Empire Today knew what they were doing so I felt that either I didn't look at it very well or it was presented better than it was. I learned my lesson and I would not recommend them.

I like the coloring of the laminate flooring and as far as durability, it’s good.
The installers who came were nice young men. They were very helpful and they answered questions. I noticed, however, that some of the dry wall in my bedroom was pulled off when they pulled the base board away. I would have liked to have that pointed out to me but they didn't, and I found it myself. They did the best they could to pick up a majority of the trash but there was still a small amount left in my bathroom, so I wound up having to clean all that up myself. Several years ago, I had my house redone by Empire. A wood laminate was installed in the living room and hallway and the kitchen and dining was like a muted brick that had pale blue and beige. I loved them and it cost me about $5,000. Then I wanted to get laminate in this little condo and it was $7,000 just for that. This is half the size of my house. Also when I called Empire, it was the last day of the sale that they advertised on TV which was 75% off everything. The lady I talked to confirmed that I’d get that promotion since I was scheduling the purchase that day. However, when the installer came, the man said that the 75% off was only for the carpet and I'd get 50% off everything. Then the Berber was less than half the price of the laminate, so I had it installed instead. It was still $2,500 for this flooring with the 50% off. But I don’t have any problems with the installation nor with the carpet.

We had Empire Today install linoleum in our bathroom. The cost and quality worked good compared to the other brands we considered. We also liked its pattern and we thought it was like regular flooring. The people from Empire were very polite but we had to wait a day before they delivered the flooring. They said they're going to deliver it one day and do it but they had to cancel that and then did it the next day. They also didn't give the directions on how to take care of the flooring until they put it in. And there's a part of the flooring that was bent. And then somebody cut the linoleum wrong for the patterns in it. It was a whole mess of things that were not great.

I had Empire Today install carpeting in one of my bedrooms, hallway, living room and dining area. When we bought our home, it was built for us and we upgraded a lot of things. My old carpeting was almost 27 years old. It didn’t look bad, but it needed to be replaced in some areas. I was shopping around for carpeting, then my neighbor next door replaced the carpeting in three of their bedrooms, we talked and I asked them to send us the person to give me an estimate. I had a very good experience with Empire Today and I would definitely recommend them.

I hired Empire today to install engineered hardwood in my home. I was informed by the salesperson it was a one day job. After 3 days and multiple calls to Empire I am still not sure the job was done correctly. I spoke with the installation manager who blamed the salesperson for incorrect figures which caused a shortage of material on the 1st day then a shortage of materials on the 2nd day. Based on the salesperson my job was 530 ft². However after my own measurements I found the job to be 475 ft². On the 3rd day one of the original installers is in my home with two new people, one who claims to be a supervisor. The job is incomplete and my patience is long past exhausted. They have created a need to refinish my baseboards and totally annihilated any plans I had with out of town guests.
The installation manager was rude and without concern and wanted me to understand he had not been available due to a doctor's appointment. He did tell me that he would try to get me a $300 credit but that would have to wait until next week. I am concerned on many levels: 1) the quality and efficiency of the work is questionable. 2) Customer service on the local and corporate level is laughable. 3) Not once has anyone offered any identification to indicate affiliation to Empire. 4) Finally the salesperson had one measurements was too low based on the installation manager but based on my calculations it was excessive.
Empire corporate does nothing but make notes and attempt to contact local management but is forced to leave messages. All in all I could've hired local and had the job done right, less expensive and quicker. I guess Empire is building their empire on the backs of their customers. Almost $5000 for a job which could've been done for less and better.

Empire Today installed carpet in one bedroom, a small office, and on the 13-step stairs. We have also done business with them before. My husband and daughter picked the company out. Then we had scheduled an appointment for them to come out and put it in. But since my husband was diagnosed with an illness, we had to put it off for months and months until my husband was well enough to have it done. Empire Today was very kind to let us put it off that long because the pattern they chose was discontinued, and so they saved it for us for all those months. Most of the time my husband could not talk and so I was the one who was calling them monthly, saying we can't do it yet. They were considerate of us and they never pressured us. Also, the two men who did it were absolutely fantastic. They did a beautiful job and we are very pleased with it. The carpet is beautiful and we just love it.

We were putting up our house for sale and we needed a small bedroom carpeted. We got one for $5,000 from Empire Today and the price was a little high but the quality seems to be very good so far. We also like the color and the brush of it. But there was a mix up on the date of installation. They told us they would be out here on Tuesday, so we emptied everything out of the room. We couldn't sit here all day waiting for them, so we called them if we could get the time arranged. And they told us that the installation had been rescheduled for Monday. We were upset because we put every stuff in the room in other places and we had to return them again. Also, we were putting the house up for sale. We asked her if there was anything they needed to get it done sooner. Another five days was not gonna work. And she was able to get it installed on Thursday, so that was very good.

I had three wall-to-wall carpets installed in three bedrooms by Empire Today. They turned out beautifully. The installers were fabulous because there was a lot of heavy furniture to be moved around, and they did an excellent job. A couple of weeks after the installation, I noticed on my master bedroom, where the piece of wood is dividing the room to room, there was an indentation on that rug. And it looked like there was no padding under it or it needed more padding under it. So I called the service department to have a service man come over and look at it. I had an appointment on June 1st.
I received an automated call on the morning of June 1st that a service person will come between 8:00 and 6:00 that day. So, about 11:00 o’clock in the morning I called thinking that they have an idea of the round about time when they would be here. Then, they put me on hold, they checked with the service person, they got on again and they told me that the service person would be here between 1:00 and 3:30 that afternoon. So I said fine.
Then, it was 4:00 o’clock and nobody had called or showed up. So I called back again. They put me on hold again, got in touch with the service person said they wouldn't be here till 7:00 at night. I have a sick husband and I could not do 7:00 at night. That was too late for me. So, I spoke to a supervisor, who wouldn't give me her last name but she gave me her extension number and told me that she would take care of everything. I said, "Look, I prefer a morning appointment. I took off from work to be here and the least you can do to accommodate me is to give me another appointment for the morning." And she said,” Okay.” She never called me and nobody ever got back to me.
So, I called again. I set up another appointment for yesterday, June 6, Wednesday. The same scenario, the automated message came on telling that somebody would be there between 8:00 and 6:00 today. They could not give me the time. So then again, I waited until 11:00. Because my time was valuable just as well as their service people's time is to them, I said that they get me in touch with them and give me a round about time. I understand they couldn't give me an approximate. So they said, "Oh, they'll be there definitely between 1:00 to 4:00,” meaning yesterday. I said, “Okay that's fine." And then again nobody called, nobody showed up. I called back and the girl called again and said, "Oh, they won't be there till 6:00 o'clock". I said, "No, this isn't acceptable. Let me speak to a supervisor."
So I did speak to this very nice lady named Yvette. She is supposed to be a supervisor. She put me on hold and said she was going to get in touch with the New York office. I have an appointment now for this coming Monday and Yvette told me to call her if nobody is there by 10:00 in the morning. The service department is not very well with me, but the installation went very well.

I’m partial to Mohawk carpeting because their carpeting that I had years ago stood well. At first, I went into the big-box stores and priced carpeting. The padding was separate and you had to have a different crew come in and lay the carpeting. Plus, I had to move the furniture myself.
By the time I figured out that it wasn’t worth my while, I would be paying Empire about the same price to come in and lay the carpeting I wanted with the padding. And they would move the furniture. There were only two couches, a couch and a love seat, and the TV. The guys disconnected the TV, picked it up, and put it in the kitchen. I never even thought of doing that because all the rest of the furniture was in the bedroom. And upstairs, the dresser was too tall to put in the storage area, so they worked around it.

It was 9:30 before we left the house and I had another 50 miles to drive to get home. That was the real hassle. Maybe they should start an install in the morning and finish it because they were so late in finishing the carpet that I didn’t get time to put the two closets up. Empire Today has the worst communication and customer service I have ever experienced! My original installation was in March. The carpet was fine but the tile installation was horrible. The guys that installed it didn't know what they were doing. They told me the equipment they had would not allow them to cut the tile so it would fit around the corners of my kitchen, bathrooms and pantry. So, what they did is just round the corners and fill it in with grout!! They thought this was fine!! The tile they laid down is not even so you could trip walking through my house if you aren't looking.
The supervisor I've been dealing with for the last two months has done nothing but credit me 300. I need a lot more refunded than that at this point! He also never never calls back when he says he is. I have to keep calling and calling! His name is Quinton **. I've had multiple people from the company come out and look at it and take pictures and say how horrible it is but nothing has been fixed! Quinton had set up people to come fix over the Mother's Day weekend and I told him Saturday I was ok with but Sunday is Mother's Day. I wouldn't be home so the guys said they would come back on the 25th and 26th which is today and tomorrow.
I woke up early so I would be ready. No one came and no one called. I called Quinton twice and he has not called me back and customer service shows no date on file of anyone coming out to fix??!! Unbelievable!! The guys who did the tile also broke my toilet!! I came home to a pile of water on my new bathroom tile!! Empire Today would not fix my toilet and I was without it for three weeks and I had to pay to get it fixed. Not ok!! I had no issues with the toilet until they removed to do tile work.
They also made me go to Home Depot to buy the kit to put toilet back in. I've had problems from the first moment the installers came. First I was told by the carpet guys that there was no order for carpet in my living room and so I had to fight to get that fixed! Two weeks later they brought carpet and finished that. Then when tile guys came they said they don't show that tile was ordered for my pantry or under my stove so then again I had to battle with Empire over that! Now I'm trying to get a supervisor to return my calls and fix this horrible tile job and obviously I'm not being placed as a priority. No returned phone calls and no follow through!! Someone should be doing more for me and following through to make sure I'm satisfied. Horrible company!!

Got a call at 8:01 a.m. in which a recorded message told me the installers would be at the location "this afternoon" and that I could speak to a representative if I wanted to, but the representative had no more information. I don't live at the location and decided to go to the house early to accomplish some others tasks before the installers arrived (I'm getting the house ready to put on the market.)
At 9:55 I was in the garage with the door open when I saw a van pull up blocking the driveway. I thought it was the previous renter coming to get his stuff from my garage, then realized no this was no one I knew. I walked toward the van and said, "Who are you?" The reply, "Empire." (Good thing I got to the house early!) Three foreigners started walking toward the house -- No, I don't mind foreigners as long as they can understand and speak in English. They couldn't. I very quickly discovered.
Entering the house, I said, "You'll be doing the bedrooms." One man, looking into bedroom #1, said, "Closets?" I said, "No, don't worry about the closets unless you have some extra piece that's been cut off that I can just put down in the closet. We didn't measure for the closets." (I may have said the word "closet" too many times and he misunderstood what I was telling him, apparently only understanding a few words of English.) They re-measured the rooms. Ok. He then ask me to "van, check carpet" so I followed him out to the van to verify they had the correct carpet. Good.
So they proceeded to take up the old carpet and got the new padding from the van, all the while chatting (and yelling at one another) in a foreign language -- probably Spanish, but I wouldn't swear to it. Ok, fine. Another man approached me in the kitchen and said something unintelligible, but I got the impression he wanted me to follow him when he stopped at the first bedroom door, pointed to the threshold and said, "Color?" I'm assuming he's asking me what color to put down on the threshold strip. "What colors do you have?" He looked at me uncomprehendingly and motioned for me to follow him to the van (At least he realized I had asked a question. Thank goodness for inflection.)
Ok, by now I know this guy doesn't have a clue what I'm saying and I'm going to prove it. At the van, he shows me two metal strips, one gold, one silver. I looked at him and very politely said, "Which one would you recommend?" His response was a look of total incomprehension. He's pointing to them again. I said (specifically not pointing), "Let's go with the gold." He doesn't understand and just looks at me with a blank stare. I proved it. Doesn't know colors in English. I pointed to the gold strip and the job proceeded.
So when they got around to getting my new carpet out of the van (which was a sort of silvery grey color--light), they proceeded to unroll the carpet across the entire street! This is a suburban house in a quiet, but not isolated neighborhood. I was just waiting for a neighbor's car to drive by and run over my carpet! Luckily that didn't happen, but when they proceeded to cut the carpet and fold it over to pick up the individual parts, they flipped it over and part of the top of the carpet (the part you see of course, not the underlayment) was on the street! And I'm thinking to myself, "Well now that was intelligent!" But I'll wait and see after installation.
So, they start installing. At one point, as the one guy who knew a few words of English said to me, "closets" and pointed. I wasn't sure what he was trying to say about the closets so I went and looked and yes, they had installed the new carpet in the closets of the two bedrooms they were working on -- not the master suite. Ok, better have enough carpet to complete the job, I thought. Foreign chattering, yelling between the rooms, music playing, ok.
Now, it's about 85 degrees outside so I had turned the air conditioner on 72 to make sure it was comfortable for them to be working. (I had also turned on the self-cleaning oven on so that was warming things up a bit!) Two of the guys, including the one who spoke one English word, started working in the master bedroom (I was in the kitchen. Same floor--small house.) He came to me and said some kind of unintelligible utterance and walked back down the hallway. I gathered he wanted me to follow, which I did. He was standing by the thermostat, pointing at it and trying to say something which I couldn't begin to understand. He's gesturing with a "thumbs up" motion while pointing at the thermostat.
I'm trying to ask, "Do you want it up? Warmer?" He looks at the other guy standing there, says something; the other guy can't help him because he doesn't understand English either. He's shaking his head no. "You want it cooler?" I said. Shaking his head no. I tried changing the setting to reflect "73, 74, 75", he's shaking his head no. I go back down on the thermostat "74, 73, 72", he's shaking his head no. I'm confused! The two of them are standing there looking at me like there's something wrong with me! And the one is pointing at the thermostat. I finally said, "You want me to turn it off?" I turned it off. That got a hearty nod. Geez! Why can't people working in America -- where we speak English, learn to speak English if they want to work in this country? Drives me nuts!
They did do a good job, except the master bedroom closet has the old carpet in it. Oh well. Not a huge deal, but I would have preferred, If they were going to install the carpet in the closets -- which I had initially told them we hadn't measure for, but they probably didn't understand me, I would have preferred the master bedroom walk-in closet instead of the other bedrooms. Now, if you care about American workers doing American jobs, don't hire Empire. If you'd like to actually communicate with workers in your home, don't hire Empire.
I think I'll be calling ICE about Empire's installers. They're probably not here legally and work cheap. I have no problem with people coming to America for a better life. I just firmly believe they should do so legally and learn the language! How many of us go to a foreign country to work without learning the prevailing language of that country? Senseless.

With the price given by Empire Today, I got them to do carpeting. The did almost my whole first floor, living room, hallway, three bedrooms and stairs. We had a problem the first day because they couldn’t cut the carpeting. It was raining and they went back to the warehouse to recut the carpeting. They came back the next day and they were very efficient, worked constantly and never stopped. They put the new carpet in and cleaned up. First, Empire Today will always respond to these poor reviews by making a note such as "we hear your concerns and we will reach out to you shortly". We had Empire before and paid it off within the year. We had the family room done and the sunroom done at that time. This time, I had the living room done and had laminate flooring installed. They were excellent, responsible, and clean during installation and they just moved everything so easily. I was pleased with everything but the financing which turned out to be exactly what we did not want. I was supposed to get financing with no interest and it was supposed to be $38 a month.
I know that Empire does not do the financing like the financing he promised. He took it as though it came through. He took my check and everything and said it went through, no problem. Then, they reneged and did not accept. He had to try again and that didn’t work. And then, he tried again and no. Also, they changed companies two or three times because I’m almost 88 and I have no credit score now because my son gets everything for me. Everything I need, he buys and he gets his credit score raised. So, I got a different company and now, I have to pay $147 and some cents.
I've told people how much we like the flooring. We liked it so well, I was hoping that I would be able to get the family room and the sunroom done, but not with this kind of prices because the interest that was supposed to be zero, it’s 29.99% which means I have 30% interest. I would not recommend it because of the financing.

I had good and bad experiences with Empire Today. For the good part, I had a very excellent representative who came to my house and took my order. I picked out a great product and the installers were excellent. I got the flooring for my family room which I’m very happy with. And the second time was my carpet for my bedroom and my stairs. For the negative part, I ordered my carpet three weeks ahead of the date that I wanted because I had to wait until I had a Saturday available so the installers could come in and do the installation. However, I didn’t get a call until Saturday morning of the day of the installation to tell me that the installers weren’t coming. It was not good because it seemed to me somebody should have known the day before.
I’m sure they have a computer system and someone should have been able to tell that the carpet was not there because I had to rearrange furniture. I did a lot of things to be prepared for the installation of the carpet. And to get a call that morning at 8:30 and I was expecting the people to come at 9 and just the explanation, “We don’t have the carpet.”, that was terrible. After that, it took a while for somebody to explain to me when I was gonna get my carpet or I never got a clear explanation as to why the carpet was not there except that sometimes, these things happen.
I have recommended Empire to a friend of mine who was getting some work done but after this carpet thing, I don’t know. I don’t wanna ever do business with Empire again. I don’t wanna recommend Empire to anybody too because I don’t want them to have this kind of a problem. Communication is very important. If Empire Today won’t be able to deliver when they say, they have to give the customer a heads-up an hour or more than 30 minutes before the installers are supposed to be there. Nevertheless, I got my carpet put in and it was a week the following Saturday. The installation of the carpet was excellent. I also got a $75 discount for my inconvenience which was somewhat satisfactory. Other than that, I love my carpet.

I am writing this note to document the absolutely disgraceful experience I had with Empire Today. May 10th: One of Empire’s “Flooring Consultants” came to our new home to measure and provide pricing. We informed him that it was critical that our carpet be installed in our new home prior to our move on May 19th. Obviously, it’s much easier, less work and less cost to install carpet when there’s nothing there. By the way, I won’t name the consultant as I happen to believe his intentions were OK. In any event, after checking with whomever he checks with, he assured us that our carpet would be installed on May 17th. We had actually priced carpet elsewhere and knew that Empire’s pricing was a bit higher. But, for the convenience and commitment to have it installed when we needed it, we decided to pay that premium.
May 16th: Empire’s Customer Service Department called to say we’d be getting a call in the morning to let us know when our installers would be there. May 17th: I received a call at approximately 7:20 with a message that Empire would not be able to install the carpet today because they had no installers available. But no worries as they’d be happy to install it a few weeks from now. After I cooled down, suggested a simple ideas: why not ask if they could install it tomorrow. I called customer service back and after some holds and checking, I was told that yes, in fact, they could install it tomorrow. Again was told that someone would phone me by 10:30 to let me know when they’d be there. I also received a text confirming that my carpet would be installed tomorrow.
May 18th: The day I’m documenting this and a day before I’m moving. By 10:30 I had not received a call from an installer. After calling customer service, I was told I’d be hearing from someone by 11:00. Still didn’t happen. At 11:10 I received a call from the Tampa office who informed that they would not be installing my carpet today. They had no installers. When I asked why I was told they would be installing, I was told that customer service just says that and they really don’t check with the offices who do the installations. Again, I was beyond disgusted. I cancelled my order.
This is an absolute disgrace. It shows an absolute lack of integrity and it’s the ultimate in bait and switch. I committed to working with them for the specific promise made that they clearly didn’t care about keeping. This company should not be allowed to do business this way with no repercussion. I know I’m not the only dissatisfied customer as there are 524 negative reviews on the Better Business Bureaus website. I intend to continue to make this experience public so others won’t be subject to the same disgraceful treatment.
Updated on 05/30/2018: The experience kept getting comically worse. After posting the narrative above, I was finally contacted by a real-live human being. He barely apologized before offering me $200 off to re-schedule the installation. I told him I’d check if we still wanted it and would get back to him. A day later, a completely different person called me and offered me an additional $150 to re-schedule the installation. Wow, they must really mark up the carpet if 2 different people can know the price off this easily. This past Sunday, I was sent an email to confirm an installation on June 1, a day I never suggested, asked about or discussed. I called yesterday to cancel my order and was told it was already cancelled. And finally today, I was sent a robotic customer survey to ask “Why I chose not to do business with Empire Today”. Pathetic.
We're sorry to hear this! We'll be in touch with you shortly to discuss your concerns.

I looked at several different brands of floors the first time and Empire Today had the best selection so I went with them. I had my bedroom floors done several years ago. And then two, three years ago, I had the rest of my apartment, the living room and the hallway done. And then recently, I had them put new blinds and shades. So far, I’ve been happy with them. I have a lot of allergies so the laminated wood floor is the best. They look clean and nice, and they’re okay. And I got cordless shades in my living room. I have three windows of them and they’re bottom up, top down. They are the greatest. I also have wood ones in my bedroom but I didn’t get all the windows with the shades cordless.
Their reps were very quick and very professional. The installation took 11 hours and it was very good. I did recommend them to a friend a couple of years ago when I got my floor done. She came over, looked at them and she thought they did a great job. She purchased carpeting and then she also went back to them for shades and blinds. I had Empire Today do two and a half rooms of laminate, three full closets, and I had carpeting put down on three or four stairs. My salesperson was very nice. However, they put the wrong carpeting down. It was not what I picked and I wasn't happy with it. They came and redid it in May. But then, I didn't get a bill. Since I had something redone, I thought they consolidated the bill together before sending it to me. But it turned out that Empire Today sent it to the wrong address. In January, I had the consulting come to the house. Everything should've been written down. If I had gotten financed, everything should've been legit, including my address. I knew the monthly must've gone up. If they were missing April and May, I would pay it. That's not a problem. But I needed to have some paperwork.
The rep bothered me on a Sunday and wanted to be paid on Monday. I said that I haven't received the bill yet. I was trying to make her understand that we needed the bill in the business. But whoever I spoke to was not from the country. Also, I had a hard time talking to her because of the language barrier. I also said that I didn't know where she was calling from, but it was a holiday and Monday is another holiday, so she ain't gonna get paid by Monday. There are too many hands in the cookie jar there. I can't talk to one person and nobody bothers to speak to another person to see what's going on.
So every time somebody calls me, I gotta start with the story all over again. It's ridiculous. I'm really upset because they're saying that I'm not paying. I was gonna have work done next year on the rest of my house, but forget it now. I'm not doing it. Still, I'm happy that I financed it and it worked out well that way. Empire Today installed for us the kitchen flooring and it was laminated. I looked at the floors in town, and then somebody came over to measure my area. At the time, I thought it was a little expensive and I couldn't afford it. It was before the holidays. And then, we saw Empire Today on TV saying to call them and I impulsively did so.
A man from Empire Today called me and asked if I wanted him to come out and I said that that was great. Everything went very fast and very smooth. He started giving me estimates and I knew what my ballpark figure was from the holidays before. And so I told him that I did my homework and had this figure in mind. I wanted something below $2000, and he said, "How about $1955?" 1955 was the year I graduated high school, and so I said that 1955 was a very good year and since it was below $2000, he got a deal. Before he even gave me an estimate, he asked that if he got to my ballpark, will I do the installation the tomorrow, and I said yes, though I had to cancel a doctor's appointment for my eyes. And so he said they'll do it the following day instead, which was a Saturday.
When we moved here, the kitchen was white with the cabinet set and my husband was wiping the floor every other day. When someone comes from the garage, footsteps get all over the white flooring. And so we went for laminate flooring with a wood effect, and we're very pleased with it. The two installers did an excellent job with the installation and that's really important. So we're very favorable all the way around. With the new flooring, we don't have to wipe it up every day. Also, we like the choices of the color.
The flooring that was installed by Empire Today has met more than our expectations. I like people with personality and the staff at Empire Today were friendly. When they worked in our home, I welcomed them like our guest, and they were. They checked everything over, put things back and then they gave the instructions what not to walk on. I would recommend Empire Today to others and tell people to go with them.

So I am a bit miffed at this time. I ordered 5500.00 worth of Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring for my house and thought I was going to get a professional installation. Was I wrong. Don't get me wrong the floors are beautiful but the finishing work is extremely shotty at best. I would think that for that amount of money the quarter round that was put down around the baseboards would have had returns added on the ends to make the work look finished, not left with bare wood ends that look like I did the work myself rather than paying a lot of money for someone to do a professional job. Also the installers left a broken flat screen tv at my house for me to dispose of that was originally in their truck at the time of install. How unprofessional is that? If you don't want your trash why do you think I would?
The contractors that did the installation also caused damages to my plumbing in the bathroom, which cost me 300.00 to fix, and they damaged the dryer vent on the dryer when putting it back in place. I have tried to contact the company since the installation to get these issues resolved and after a week of complaints the installation manager finally came to the house on 05/11/18 to take a look at the issues first hand. Upon arrival he informed me that I had "refused to pay for 300.00 dollars of build up work" that the installers had to do when doing the installation. I was NEVER informed of additional charges at the time of the installation nor was I ever presented with any paperwork showing additional charges had been assessed, and this was the first time I had ever heard this accusation. I also have not ever been given a receipt for the check payment I gave them at the time of install.
He agreed with me that the job did not look professional and told me he would contact me back on Monday 5/14/18. Well here it is Friday 05/18/18 and I still have not heard anything from him. At this point I have lost faith that the job is ever going to be resolved but I am hoping by writing this review we can finally put an end to this issue.

We had carpeting done by Empire Today in the family room, four bedrooms and the stairway. While I was okay with the price, I was very unhappy with the quality of the carpet. They told me that it was good quality but it's not. In fact, the carpeting that I still have in my living room is twice as good as the one from Empire. I was supposed to be getting an upgraded pad. But I can walk up to my stairs and different parts of my house and I can feel some of the staples. That's how thin it feels like. And the carpeting in our family room had a little bit of a pattern to it. It was a 6 x 6 square and it was of a lighter color and every time you walked on it, the footprints looked like somebody with dirty feet came into the garage and walked out. I complained to my sales person and he told me to call his manager. They just blew me off and to think it was a lot of work to get ready for it, with moving all the stuff and hooking all of our electronics.
I spent $11000 in less than a year with them and they didn't care. When we had the first job done at the condo that we owned, the installers who did the vinyl and the carpeting worked very hard and they did an excellent job. I didn't have that much of a complaint about the installers here, but I was unhappy and dissatisfied with the carpets. They seem like some cheap, flimsy stuff that you'd put in a rental that you're going to sell so it looks good. I just accepted it that this is something that I live with now but I'm still looking forward to getting that new carpeting in. The regional manager or whoever it was that the salesman turned me over to told me to vacuum it for 30 days or more and see how it looks. That's ridiculous and I will not use Empire again.

After a second appointment we settled on a combination of hard surfaces and carpet with assurance that this would remedy the problem... it didn't! The hard surfaces were installed without issue and looks great. The installers were professional and efficient. On the same day the carpet installers arrived and were unhappy by the size of the job, the requirement to move furniture and tear out and dispose of old carpet... They stated it was a job that required at least 4 people. They were aggressive, foul mouthed and very condescending. After talking and arguing with their manager, they left without doing anything.
After 2 dozen calls to the sales rep, customer service, the Detroit manager etc, all we hear are promises. Getting anyone on the phone is impossible. I find that I have been charged not only for the hard surface installation, but the carpet installation as well despite assurances that the billing would be corrected. No authorization or signatures approved the charges beyond the hard surface flooring. This fraudulent behavior is shocking and unethical if not outright illegal. Buyer beware. The main thing I considered was people's ability to do a really good job at what they do, and that would be the advice I would give anybody that was thinking about having laminate put down. I would tell my friends to call and get an estimate from Empire Today. I'm the kind of person that gets two to three estimates and doesn't just go with the first company. I try to do a little investigating what kind of work they do. But if a friend asked me, I'd tell him to call Empire and let them come out and give him an estimate. If it was reasonable, I'd go with them. Otherwise, I'd get another estimate. I would definitely recommend Empire Today.

My daughter got an advertisement on her computer that Empire Today was on 75% off, so even though I wasn't thinking of replacing the carpet, I decided it was time to contact Empire Today and get a good deal with the sale. We ended up getting laminate flooring for the family room, the living room, the dining room and the hallway. The product we got, however, was a bit thinner than I expected. But after it was installed, it seems to be holding up. The installers did a good job. We were supposed to have three guys but the third one was sick so the two guys needed a couple of days to do the job. The first day, they ripped out the carpeting, did some preparation and did some work. Then the next day, they finished. And I was happy with them. I had Empire before so I went with them and I would go with them again.

I had some Berber carpet from Empire Today installed in my bedrooms. Empire is not as high as CC Carpet, which I also talked to, so I went with them. Besides, Empire is a good brand. It's fine, as far as I'm concerned. And, since Berber was what I wanted, their representative brought in some sample and that's all he brought in. The carpet is durable and easy to vacuum. I'm 89 years old and I can’t push a heavy vacuum so it's okay.

I had some laminate flooring installed by Empire Today. It was what my wife wanted and she picked it out. The rep was very personable and he showed a lot of different products. The installation team was really nice. However, what we thought we were getting and what we got were two different things. I expected a 10 but what I got was a 7. The flooring wound up being very, very thin as compared to what was shown. One must make sure to know what they're getting because once you made up your mind and you sign on the dotted line, there ain't nothing you can do about it. But as long as the wife's happy, it's all good.

Sales rep worked with us to pick out the correct ceramic tile and grout, along with quarter round trim. At time of installation, the installer began to lay tile with no grout. I called the sales rep and told him of the problem and told the installer to stop the installation. The sales rep called back and said they had to complete the installation because it was a 'hazard' to not complete the tile. I didn't understand this and the installer was pressuring us that he had to finish or he wouldn't get paid. The sales rep agreed to come out and assess the job.
He came out and assessed the job and took several pictures. He agreed the job was not correct and the workmanship was very bad. He apologized over and over. He also said that the installation crew had been fired. It is now 1 month later and a new installation date was provided and yet, no one showed up. I believe the sales rep is genuine, but Empire clearly has a problem with resources to install and communication with them. The sales rep has mentioned he has shared this with his manager, but no one else has contacted me. In short, they did not deliver what they stated (in writing), did a very poor job and have not resolved the job or repaired the damage to my home.

I had Empire Today install tile in my kitchen and carpet in my family room. I liked how they did the family room so much. The guys they sent out to put the carpet down were excellent. They did a beautiful job. So, I also wanted the two bedrooms done. I had the guy gave me a price on the bedrooms and I was okay with it and I ordered the same carpet for my bedroom. On the day of installation, the rep called me and told me the carpet was discontinued. And I said, “Well, how can it be discontinued and how did y’all let me order it?” My house was a mess. My mom is 83 years old, she's sleeping on a couch and I got all the furniture everywhere because I took all the furniture out of the bedroom for them to do the carpet.
I talked to a lady at Empire and she said that they’ll let me pick another carpet and they would give me a discount off the price they already gave me just because it was their fault. I called back and heard nobody confirmed it and they gave me a long runaround. I asked them why someone can't do it as it was their fault. I’m a loyal customer and I'm trying to do my whole house. I was very disappointed in Empire’s service. They put a person after person on the phone like they didn’t even know who I talked to. One person finally told me who I talked to but they couldn’t get the lady on the phone. Then I told them that I don’t even want their carpet anymore and I cancelled the order. When I was buying a new carpet, Empire was okay and honest, but when I had a problem, they did not help me. Right now, I wouldn’t recommend Empire Today to anybody.

I’m almost 68 years old. I live alone in a one-bed apartment without a pet. I had carpeting done in my bedroom by Empire Today 14 months before and then another 14 months later. The wear and tear was terrible. Also, I had it done several times where I live before. When I had it installed the last time, I had two installers that were so horrible. They were insulting, screaming, yelling at me. And I had every single thing out of my room that I was able to pick up because I have one piece of furniture that’s built in so that they didn’t even have to move that. However, they wouldn’t install it because they said I had a medical bed. Yet I don't have a medical bed, it was a Craftmatic type of bed.
So I spoke to the manager of the installation area of Empire and he was also crazy. Then I got a call from a man named Trevor who was wonderful. He was more of a district manager and he handled the problem perfectly and I told him the whole story. I told him that the installation manager didn't even wanna listen and I'm certainly capable of articulating that my carpeting was installed so many times with the same bed. A week later, I got my carpeting installed by a different installer and he did the best job and he put everything back for me and he got a $100 tip. Other than that, the salesman who sold it to me was the most wonderful, kindest, gentlest, quickest, nicest man. His name was Michael and he's the same salesman who helped me 14 months ago. While I had a very bad experience with the very first two installers, the other installer did a good job. Overall, I still recommend Empire Today.

She had to come twice because the first time we ordered, the thing was out of stock. She came back for plan B and she did that within 24 hours which was good. She was on top of that kind of stuff. We had them install tiles in the kitchen and the utility room connection. Freddy and his assistant were very good and helpful. The installation was very well-done and the flooring looks good. And considering Empire is out of Illinois and working in Oklahoma, they’re doing fine with the communication to the customer. I would tell others to get out, see what Empire can do for them, and have a sales rep come over.

I purchased the luxury vinyl flooring. They came out promptly to install it. The only problem was they realized they were 2 boxes short in the end. The installer assured me he would be back the next weekend to finish. I waited all day the next Saturday, they were a no call no show. I called customer service many times, they said they couldn’t get in touch with the installers and didn’t know what to tell me. The manager Larry assured me that the next Saturday I would be the first stop that morning. I waited all day again and the installers showed up at 7:30 pm! If you use Empire pray everything goes smooth because if you have an issue with anything there is zero customer service and many excuses. I will never use them again or recommend them to anyone. If I could give them zero stars I would.

A salesperson came to my house to show me and a neighbor flooring. We both have the same house model. I wanted to see different types of flooring, such as engineered hardwood, vinyl and laminate. He brought in the laminate and vinyl but not the engineered hardwood. Not much of a choice, much less than it shows on the website. He said that he didn't have time to show me the engineered hardwood because he had another appointment. He arrived an hour after the beginning of the two hour time frame due to traffic. That I can understand but telling me he did not have time to show the flooring was not professional. I did like one of the other types but wasn't completely sold. Got the sales pitch of bringing the flooring down in price and then when I told him I wouldn't be signing a contract at that time, he seemed to lose interest. Might be done with this company.

Quality is why we chose Empire and we’ve been a customer for the past 15 years. We've never experienced any problems and we went back to them to install carpeting on the hallways, four bedrooms, and stairs in our home. We like our salesperson. This was the first time we had him and he was very nice. They didn't have the carpet that we ordered so they gave us a better quality carpet which cost more. But it was our other choice of carpet which was very nice. Then, when they were moving our furniture, they broke our bed. Our bedroom furniture was brand-new and it has never been moved, Empire was the only people that ever moved it. But we never called about it. I'm a claim adjuster and it would be more pain in the butt to go through a claim with them than to just fix it ourselves. I thank that my husband is handy.
A follow-up call from a customer service representative would have been nice after it was installed to ask if everything was okay. We could have explained what had happened with our bedroom furniture at that point. We experienced a couple of difficulties this time but overall, the experience was great. Call the sales guy that we had because he was very customer service friendly. He followed up even when he had his own family to deal with and he was still following up with us to get our problem fixed the night before our carpet was supposed to be installed.

Not only did I receive none of the acclaimed customer satisfaction but chased them down for months, having to call numerous times, and I mean numerous. I’ve had problems with Empire Today from the start. The sales rep showed up and didn’t have as many samples as I thought he would. That was the first issue. It went downhill from there. I decided on the carpet and the rooms I wanted done. I got a call a few days later with an install date that was incorrect. I called and texted the rep a few times, but he didn’t respond. Days later I called customer service and complained that my rep didn’t respond to my attempts to fix the situation. I was asked if I wanted to file a complaint or have customer service send a text asking him to call me. I said I didn’t want to get the guy in trouble and decided on the text.
In the meantime I looked at my contract and noticed it was for one room, not three. I finally talked to the rep the next day and he said he’d change the order. He texted the dollar amount for the “new order” and it was over $400 more than he quoted me at my home. (Luckily I have a bad memory, so I had let the rep know at the time that I would record our sales meeting.)
The rep didn’t believe me when I told him his new price was too high. I played the recording for him and his response was, “I can’t do it for that price, I won’t make any money. I’ve got to get paid!” I told him I didn’t appreciate the bait and switch and asked for his supervisor’s name. He refused and told me to just call customer service. I called customer service and said I wanted to file a complaint. I was shuffled from one rep to another and was told I’d get a call back to file the complaint. It didn’t happen. I finally spoke to another rep to get my deposit back and was offered a deal better than the original price quoted by the shady sales rep. I scheduled an install date and I was assured by two different reps I would get three rooms done with the carpet I wanted.
On the day of the installation I was ready for my new carpet and I was so happy this ordeal was almost over. But no! I meet the installers and they have an order for just one room. WTH!? I say, "Ok. Do the one room and I’ll call and get this straightened out." Three times I called the rep who gave me the deal and he never called me back. Now I’m stuck with only one room done and we’ve already ripped up the carpet in the other two rooms and the furniture is piled in my living room. I’m still trying to get the situation rectified. I’m beyond dissatisfied! This is just ridiculous. I will never ever ever use or recommend Empire Today! I don’t care how low the price is. What a nightmare!
Updated on 05/21/2018: I wrote a review on May 7, 2018 about my carpet nightmare and I received a quick response from Empire Today Carpet stating they want to solve the problem with my partial install. It should have been 3 bedrooms, a big closet and a small hallway, but only 1 bedroom and closet were done. Now I’m stuck with the carpet ripped up in two bedrooms and furniture piled in my living room. It’s been there for more than a month!
I’ve had issues from the start. It began with the very unprofessional sales rep didn’t respond to my phone calls and texts and then he gave me one price for the job and when I told him the contract he sent me was for only one bedroom, he wrote up a new contract and said the job would cost $400 more than the original price he quoted. I reminded him that, because I have a bad memory, I had recorded our conversation when he came to my house for the initial sales call and I had a recording of him giving me the lower price. He didn’t believe me so I played the recording for him. After a moment of stunned silence he said, “I can’t do it for that price, I won’t make any money. I’ve got to get paid!” I was shocked.
I told him I didn’t appreciate the bait and switch and I asked for his supervisor’s name. He wouldn’t give it to me. He told me to just call customer service. So I called and got the runaround. I was transferred from one customer service rep to another. I told one rep I wanted to file a complaint and I was given a reference number and told I’d get a call in a couple of days to file the complaint. I never got the call so I called again and the rep said they would call me back, but it never happened. I’m so frustrated! I’ve talked to 4 representatives since the partial install who said they would get everything straightened out and install the correct carpet in all of the rooms that should have been done more than a month ago. But no, that hasn’t happened.
I’ve had representatives say they would help me and then I wouldn’t hear from them for days or sometimes not at all. I finally spoke to a rep who said they need to come back out and measure the rooms again so a new contract could be written. They have the measurements from the sales rep who came out in early April, but for some reason they can’t use those measurements. I’ve moved out of the house, so now I have to make the 30-minute drive and spend hours waiting for the new sales rep to show up to measure and then I have to wait for an appointment for the install and drive out there again and sit around all day again so they can finally install the carpet in all of the rooms I’ve been trying to get done since April! I am so frustrated! I can’t wait for this nightmare to end.

I had the bathrooms, bed rooms and living rooms carpeted in August of 2015 and had laminate for the kitchen, pantry, entry, and the laundry. All the floors in the house were from Empire Today. The installers and Norm, my first salesman, were very nice. My laminate is beautiful and for the carpeting, I have the Primrose Lane and got the best padding at that time. I was also told that I could walk on the carpet with shoes when mostly everybody has to take off theirs because we got the best carpeting.
Then I found out a couple of weeks ago that they discontinued it because it was not wearing well like mine. I called Empire Today first. I tried to talk to Norm's boss because I wanted to explain. And then when Norm got him on the phone, he yelled, "No, no, no!" and hung up. The boss didn't want to talk to me. Then I called Mohawk who said they’d tell Empire to make a claim on it. Empire was supposed to have done a claim for me in January and I don't know what happened to that. So last Thursday, a girl made a claim on it for me but I haven't got anything back on it yet.
In the mean time, my salesman, Mohawk and the lady suggested we discontinue the carpet. Then Mohawk was trying to make me buy more carpet for more money even though they said that Empire would be responsible. I already paid almost $9,000 for the Primrose Lane and they wanted me out another $8,000 for another kind of carpet. They weren’t replacing my carpet and wanted me to put more money into it so I can have all new carpets in my expense. I called back and they sent me a card in the mail. Then I called back again. The cheapest I could go was $6,500. And I wasn’t getting any credits.
Then Mohawk wanted me to pay $125 for somebody to come and check the carpet. I told them I was not gonna do that because I paid all that money and was waiting for my laminate which I kept stalling off because I wanted them to see the carpet first. Then finally, we came to a conclusion. I would pay them $125 with my credit card and they would take it off at the end of the bill. A man named Mike came and he just stated the financial way. My first carpet looked terribly bad so I asked him to help me out with it. He went back and I thought he was gonna send it to Mohawk, but he gave it to Empire and might have said that everything was fine when it wasn’t.
So then, I talked to many people from Empire asking them to do something about my carpeting. I called them back a couple of weeks ago and they didn't call me back. My daughter buys and rents out houses. She said, "Mama, we didn't buy one from them.". Then a guy who remodels houses came in with my grandson. I asked him if he would like to try to fix it and he said he wouldn't take the carpet because it looks like hell. I'm very dissatisfied with Empire Today until they help me out.

I had vinyl flooring and laminate steps installed yesterday, May 5th. The estimator ensured that the vinyl flooring and steps would match our existing floor in the dining room during our initial walk-through of our house. After viewing it after installation was completed, it's obvious that none of it matches. It doesn't even come close to matching.
The estimator and installation crew ensured us that each plank of vinyl would change in color, which would match the current floor, but all of the planks installed are the exact same color scheme. The laminate steps installed look horrible. They look like they were installed in the quickest and cheapest way possible. I have reached out to the estimator numerous times and he constantly won't return any of my calls. The man that installed the floors continued to say that it was a Saturday and they needed to move quickly since they close early. Terrible customer service. I expect a full refund and will find a company who is honest and does quality work.
Updated on 05/19/2018: After the Empire sales associate and installers assured me that the vinyl floors would match our pre-existing flooring, I returned to find the color of the flooring a complete contrast. The steps don't even match the flooring that was installed in the den and looks like a third grader installed it. After having a professional flooring expert from Spectrum Floors view the the installation, he was completely appalled by the craftsmanship and assured me that no reputable contractor would approve of such poor work. Spectrum proceeded to match the floors perfectly and were honest and respectable throughout the entire process. To top it all off, after Empire completely botched the job and mismatched the floors, I still have Empire leaving voicemails on my cellphone stating that they won't reimburse me for the floors, even though their employees were dishonest and disregarded any form of customer service.
They informed me that it doesn't matter if the floors don't match, even though that was my request as a customer. This company doesn't care about their customers. They only care about making a buck. Do yourself a favor and don't hire them. Contact a professional and save yourself the headache. I have included the pictures below so that you can see how badly they mismatched the floors and steps to the den area. The pictures on top that showcase the floors not matching is Empire's work. The pictures at the bottom that showcase the floors matching perfectly was the new work done by Spectrum. The pictures don't lie. Remember that it doesn't matter if it looks like crap and the customer isn't happy. All that matters to Empire is that they're compensated. Do NOT hire this company.

On April 23rd we took off work to get this installation done. We were told it would take one day to do small bathroom and kitchen. The installer didn't call at 9 or 10 so I called sales person and he said the installer will call me soon with ETA. It's 12:30 nothing - I called sales person again - finally I got a call and he said he would be here at 2 which he was. He was by himself. Said his helper's wife was having a baby. He did not leave until 11:00 and had to come back tomorrow - so I ended up taking the rest of the week as a vacation.
I was so stressed out. He showed at ten and finished the job - Empire requires C.O.D. before they start the job which I think is ridiculous but this guy didn't. I was not going to pay for it until I got restitution - I called the office and expressed how unhappy I was. They offered me $150.00 off - which at the end of the day sounded like that was all I could get. We PAID $2500.00 for same day plus I found some nicks on my fiberglass tub and sink, my stove handle is broke from being moved around by one man. I thought an Empire truck would show up - not the case. It was a junky van. I will never recommend this company to anyone!

We got hardwood floors from Empire Today and had it installed in three bedrooms, a hall, a den and a sunroom. We negotiated the price and I was well satisfied with how it came out. The flooring exceeded my expectations and we especially love what we had put in the den and the sunroom. But the crew that laid the floors was supposed to do a two-day job and they didn’t show up. They showed up here about 10:00 on a Friday morning and I told them not to bother unloading because unless they can get this done like promised, we ain’t gonna get started. They told me that I am the boss and it is gonna be done. They started about quarter after 10:00 on a Friday morning and they finished at about 10:30, Friday evening.
I went and bought their lunch and brought it back in. I set it on the dining room table and told them to take a break and eat. One of them went and they’d come in, they’d take a bite, and they’d keep working. They’d come back, take another bite. They never stopped. They were unbelievable. And I don’t think they even went to the bathroom the whole day. I’ve owned a lot of houses and had a lot of work done and this topped it all.
The only problem that I had, and it has nothing to do with the crew, but where the door frames were originally, when this house was built, it was built more or less with carpet. And there was a gap between the floor and the door frame, which was when the carpet was in here it covered it up. Of course, the hardwood does not and there’s a gap under the door frames to the house. And one of the guys said that you can’t put any wood around it because it’ll look terrible which I agreed with. I asked about caulking it but he said it would even be worse. He knew what he was talking about so I said nobody sees it but me and I don’t really care. But I couldn’t ask for a better job. Empire Today needs to do more business in the area, and I’m sure they will. I have already recommended them to several people.

Empire Today just installed a kitchen floor. I had high hopes since I had received a good recommendation from a friend. I must say that the installer they sent out did a very good job, but they sent out only one person and I had pointed out that I had a lot of heavy furniture that needed to be moved. I had chosen a pattern called Golden Gate when speaking to the salesman. The installer asked if I had chosen Golden Gate to confirm order. Installer removed my old tile and prepped my floor. At this time all my kitchen appliances were in my living room along with my other kitchen items.
When he started laying the LVT, I saw the pattern was not what I picked out. Installer called office. Name on boxes of tile was Golden Glaze. Supervisor said that was all they had and salesman must have had an old sample. My only choice was to install what I had or wait until salesman could come back out and pick out something else. In the meantime my living area was compromised. There was no apology or accommodation to my dilemma. Feeling there was no choice I accepted what was there. At the end, there was two plus boxes of tile leftover for a small kitchen they had measured for LVT that had a lifetime guarantee. Supervisor said I could return one box if I wanted but they would not credit the cost to me. This was a stressful experience with no cooperation from the supervisory staff for mistakes they had made. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

My floors in the living room, the dining and the laundry room and a little bit of small bathroom and my bedroom were done by Empire Today. Then I had their guy look at the basement and he said he was gonna give me this sort of plastic flooring that looked like wood but and that my bill would stay the same. But he would not be able to do it until I pay $1,749, so I gave them a check for that. And then he said that I was gonna owe them $6,700. I asked him four times if he was sure if this was all I would have to pay, and he said yes and assured there would be no more.
But when Wells Fargo sent me a bill, it was around $9,000. I called Empire Today and they said that they knew my bill wasn’t gonna be that much and that I had to call up Wells Fargo. Also, they said they would be in contact with me and that I had to make sure I paid the $171 before the deadline for this month so I would not have those late fees, which I did. We've had Empire do work for us years ago and this time, we had cobblestone vinyl flooring for the kitchen and dining room. We went back to Empire because of the work that they do and their products. It took them two days to put it in. And when the salesman was out here, he didn't tell us anything like that. He said it would take five hours to do the job but the installers got here at about 11 o'clock and they didn't leave until 12 o'clock at night.
They couldn't put the flooring down on the linoleum that was there and when they took the linoleum off, there were belays and hard spots on the concrete floor. So, they had to come back the next day and finish it. They had it all straighten out in order to get the vinyl to work properly on the floor. The installer did a great job. They seamed it in the dining room and you couldn't even see where they did it. You wouldn't want a better job done. But I wish somebody would send me information on how to properly clean this.

I used to live down here in Louisiana in 2005 and that’s when hurricane Katrina hit down here. And we lived down in Saint Bernard Parish. And the house that I owned down there, the only land you could see was one foot from the ridge of the house and one foot down, and then the rest was water. So, we moved out here to Slidell and bought this house. This house also had 30 inches of water in it, but the previous owners guttered it out at 3-foot and they redid the house. But as somebody doing it as an investment, they put the cheapest thing they could put in there.
We’ve been here since 2006 and with both my wife and I just retired, we decided to redo the whole house and everything in it. We had seen Empire on television and they had a really good deal on it. It was 50 or 75 percent off of the original price. And so, we went ahead and got it done. I had Empire Today install my living room and dining room with their new laminate flooring, but it didn’t have the caulk back on it. It had three or four different types of material on the back of the flooring and then they had the laminate on top of that. And then I had three bedrooms carpeted, and four closets.
When the rep came out to show me the samples of the material and the different types of carpets, I asked him how many days will it take. He said they’ll be finished in one day. They came and they got here at about 8:00 o’clock in the morning. There were four guys. Two of them did the carpet and two of them did the laminate part of it. The only reason that they didn’t finish that day was because the salesman didn’t figure out the right footage on the carpet. So they were missing two closets, about nine square feet. But everything else was completed. They did get out on a Friday and they said they would be back Saturday. But I told them it’s no big hurry and Monday morning would be fine because it was supposed to rain Saturday and I have a new carpet, and I wouldn’t wanna take a chance on messing it up. They came in on Monday and within an hour, they completed the whole project and it came out really great.
The flooring really looks good. The pattern of the laminate matched perfectly with the décor of my house. And I was really surprised because I kept telling my wife, “Hon, now we’re gonna have to go to Home Depot and buy some molding to go around the house of the laminate.” I used to be a carpenter so I knew that you don’t cut every piece in to where it doesn't need any kind of molding. And she said, “Yeah, well, we’ll just do what we gotta do”. And then all of a sudden, they came in and the guy came in with the box and he started pulling the molding out to do the molding. I didn’t have to lift a finger.
I have some pretty substantial furniture in my house and in my bedrooms. As a matter of fact, in my master bedroom, my bed has the one that rises at the top and the foot. It’s heavy and they moved everything. They never scratched a wall. Being a professional carpenter myself and a cabinet maker, I know what to look for and I couldn’t find any defects. They really did good of a job, they were very professional and they were very punctual too. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that was looking to have their floor done in their house. The experience was absolutely great.

I will say the price was great. However, the contractor sold us solid hardwood that he said didn’t scratch. That was definitely not true. The floor scratches pretty easily. Also, when the installers came, they told us the flooring we bought was not compatible with our sub flooring. Our carpet and hardwood had already been removed, so the contractor should have known this. After a bunch of phone calls between the two, they decided it would work. Well now the floor is squeaky and is splitting apart! I have big cracks between boards. The installers were nice, but they were very rushed at the end and it shows. I’m pretty sure they were supposed to put quart around up and they never did. They also left an open slot under fridge. They were at our house late in the evening. They told us they couldn’t come back the next day because they had a new job.

On April 2, 2018 I met with a salesman of Empire Today to select carpet. He was pleasant, professional and helpful. Due to a busy install schedule the carpet could not be installed until April 13th. I agreed to the date and 1130 install time. I had to take the day off work for the install and it was important for them to be punctual. The scheduler called me at 10:30am and stated that they were on the way. At 11:30 I called and again, I was told they were on the way. I waited all day and did not receive a call until 330 from an installer that claimed he was at my house when in fact he was not! I continued to attempt to contact a manager and did not receive a call until 530pm. The manager identified himself as Chris **. Despite being a manager Chris was unable to provide me a reason why they were a no call no show. He was unable to provide me any information at all.
Chris claimed he was only able to offer me a $86 dollar credit. I was shocked after taking a day off work and a no call no show that $86 was his offer of resolution. After all Chris is the General Manager, he should be able to do more and must have some idea of what happened, but apparently not. I declined use Empire Today and told him we could cancel the contract. I told him I would go to RC Willey or another reputable company in the area. I told him I did not want to continue doing business with them and canceled the order.
The following day I received a call the following day from another manager. He was apologetic and stated that he could have an installer there on April 19th. An installer would be there between 300pm and 500pm. He explained that Chris was aware of this and was hopeful to retain the business. In addition I was told they would also give me an area rug, and an additional $50 off. Specifically the rug would be a piece of carpet that could be used as a rug but due to the company not having a binding machine it would not be binded. I agreed to give the company another try.
On April 19th I waited for the arrival and once again no one showed up at 300pm as Chris and the other manager promised. It was not until 800pm that the installer showed up after a plethora of calls to Chris. Once again Chris despite being the manager had no explanation of why they did not show up. The installer who clearly was unaware of all the issues began his work and was very polite. A few minutes into the job he alerted me that he was not provided enough material for the job and would have to come back another day, but he would finish what he could with the material he had. At 930pm I told him that my family needed to go to sleep. I attempted to call Chris but he did not answer. The following day Chris informed me that he was asleep when I had called. I was shocked by his response of sleeping when his customer and his installer were still dealing with the job.
The following day Chris explained that they needed to send the installer with more material. He was scheduled a third time for Saturday April 21st. Throughout the process I spoke with a manager located in Chicago by the name of Angelica. She attempted to bridge the lines of communication and I was told since she was from corporate that she had more authority to help rectify the situation. I felt this was ridiculous for many reasons, she was in Chicago thus a time zone challenge, and second, Chris was a local General Manager of the area. Additionally the communication between the Chicago corporate office and local office was inaccurate, they were not communicating. This was evident after Angelica was able to provide me with an additional $50 discount, for a total discount of $130, when I was presented with the bill from the installer he was on the phone for 20 minutes because the discount was not reflected on the account.
It took four weeks to complete the job. One no call or show from an installer, and two additional trip to complete installation. Two days of work that I took off for installation and countless calls between local and corporate management. The rug they promised was a piece of uneven, odd shaped scrap that was left over from the my job, this piece would have been discarded after the job.
Upper management is clearly insulated by lower sub-par supervisors. When problems arise lower supervisors are neither empowered nor savvy enough to authorize compensation or solve the problems. Amazingly Chris the local General manager failed to even follow up or come in person to check the work that was performed after all the problems.
The company touts affiliations of reputable business agencies and services but in no way shape or form shares the levels of commitment and service. My hope in taking the time to share my experience is to prevent others becoming victims of Empire Today. I would sooner walk on a dirt floor before using Empire Today for any flooring needs.
We're sorry to hear about your installation experience, and assure you that we take matters such as these very seriously. We'll be further investigating your concerns.
Thank you.

I bought carpet, laminate wood floor, and vinyl from Empire Today a long time ago and I'm getting the rest of it installed. I checked another company but I like how convenient the installation is with Empire where I can pretty much change the dates. They've been very convenient with me and helpful with my installation dates. Also, the price was really good and Empire is competitive.

I had carpeting in my den installed by Empire Today. I liked the color, and the installation went good. However, I have a big entertainment unit in my den, with my TV in the center, with the cable box. That was taken loose and I can't get the lights on it to come on to nothing in the world. It happened while they were installing because they had to send in units up in the air in order to get underneath them. I have told about this to Odell, the gentleman who sold me the carpet, about it as well. Nevertheless, Empire Today was polite.

I've been living in my home for 11 years now and the last carpet I put in was 11 years ago. My son got a business going and he always gets Empire Today, so I told him to call them up. Empire Today installed a new carpet that was grayish in color in my master bedroom, which is the only room I wanted right there because I didn't want anything else done. My wife decided on the carpet, and it is nice and I like it. Empire Today was very professional and if I have to come back again then I would call them again.

Empire Today offered to move all our stuff so we had them install carpet in our living room and dining room. I like that the carpet is new and plush. Also, it's supposed to be pet-friendly. Its cost and quality were good and I was happy with it. However, they broke a couple of things in some of the ways they installed when they were in here. But they're taking care of it and other than that, it was a nice job. So, if a friend is thinking about using them and asks me about them, I would tell them to go ahead.

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED - we agreed to save money to do demo our self. Took 4 days off work did all the demo. Lost the use of appliances and then on the day of installation of kitchen and hallway flooring - took dog to daycare at our expense - only to receive a call after 9 am. Installer called off - cant do it. We said, "Unacceptable. I cannot just take days off of work whenever", the supervisor said she will try and find someone else and call back but a guy called and said they don't even have the product. Offered $50 discount - big deal. It cost $150 for dog to go to daycare. THE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE, "That is all I can do - you can take it or we can cancel the order." WOW. I will never recommend your company to anyone... and this is also going to put on every social media site I can to let every know. Your company offers next day installation - I wonder how you handle that when you have an installer call off???
We know delays can be frustrating, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We'll be in touch with you shortly to further address your concerns.
Thank you.

We had a carpet installed by Empire Today in the hallway of two of our buildings. It was a commercial gray carpet that I needed. The reps were good and very helpful. They discussed what products to use. My experience with the installation team was very good. I'd tell a friend to use Empire Today. They were very good and the work was done in a timely fashion.
