I saw Empire Today advertised on TV. A friend of mine also got them, so I looked into them. The salesman who came was all right, but what I didn’t like about him was that when he asked me what was the price I wanted and I told him I wanted something that I like, he kept asking me for the price range. I didn't like the first product that I picked out too. When the guy came to put it down, he showed it to me and it was fake wood. It looked cheap, so I went with the tile for my kitchen. The man who installed the tiles was the best. He came at 8:30 in the morning and left at 1:30 the next morning, and he laid everything down. It was perfect. I was very pleased with him. The flooring looks good and clean, and I'm happy with it. I'd tell people to check out Empire Today.

We had our carpeting done through Empire Today and I like the carpet. It was a stain-guarded, pet-proof carpet and was one of the best carpets out there, but the salesperson was pretty misleading on the interest rate for the carpeting. He said it was 0% and it came back at 9.99%. I called him on it and he said, “No, I never said that.” I said, “Yes, you did or I never would’ve signed up for it.”
They also promised me a guaranteed delivery date so I cleaned out all the rooms and was ready to go and then they called me the night before to tell me that they weren’t coming and that the carpet wasn't there when I already had my whole house torn up into pieces for them. I said, “What? How did you not know this? This is the night before.” They had to come back with a different date to reinstall and were blaming it on a truck. But everything’s great with the carpet except that I’m having a hard time getting one spot out of the floor. They also forgot to cut a hole for one floor vent so I had to call them back. Nonetheless, the installers themselves were fine. It was a big job and they were really good.

I am very happy with the carpeting installed by Empire Today. There's plushness as well as elegance to it. It is also a good product. While the team from Empire did a fine job installing the carpet, there was a little language barrier. Their rep was also a little hard to get a hold of. Other than that, the work Empire did was good.

On 3 separate occasions Empire failed to appear for a carpet installation in my home. On each occasion they did not give any notice until well into the evening (after 8 pm). In spite of assurances from someone in the corporate office (a Bill **, at extension ** did not exist when I called back due to their failure to show for the 3rd installation) the installers never came nor were they able to be reached by phone by the customer support staff or myself. This fiasco caused lost wages for my fiancée and tremendous frustration for both of us. Needless to say I have demanded a refund of the deposit and I will be hiring Home Depot, a more reputable company. Warning to consumers. Don't be fooled by the TV commercials that show a kindly smiling middle aged man rolling out carpet. Empire takes your money and has no control over the actions of the contracted installers.

Horrible customer service!!! I called last week and they scheduled for Friday between 7 pm - 9 pm. Called me at 5 pm to say their sales person could not make it. OK... So reschedule for Tuesday 7-9 pm. Waiting until 10 and no one showed up. I called this morning and I was told that the sales person wasn't assigned to me. And had the nerve to ask for another reschedule. They are advertising everywhere but do not have the staff to fulfill their clients. Customer service at ITS WORST!!!

I can't begin to describe how disappointed I have been with my experience with Empire. The Baltimore office was the primary disappointment. The sales experience was the only reason my review gets one star - at least this was pleasant and he was professional. The problems began with the installation. We purchased the new hypo-allergenic carpet. On the day of installation, there were 3 guys that showed up and got the carpet in the room, but they soon discovered they did not have the proper tools and materials to install this new carpet. That should have been my first clue that I would need different installers. They said they would come out the next day (a Saturday) to finish the job. They were late the next day and held up our evening.
When they completed the job and I walked around to inspect their work, I was horrified with what I saw. They had installed the stairs in the wrong style - waterfall instead of Hollywood. They did not verify the style we wanted before doing the job, and the salesman had told us they have a standard installation in Hollywood style, so I didn't even think to check as they were installing it. The room they installed the carpet in was even worse. There were bare spots at wall corners and the factory edge of the carpet had not been pulled against the wall, so there was a bare spot against the wall. They finished the room with a small square piece of carpet and the seams were obvious.
When I pointed this out, they said they would fix it, but they just made it worse. Their "fix" was to cut small dots of carpet and shove them in the bare spots...which would probably vacuum up on the first run over the carpet. When I confronted them about the steps, they wanted to just put staples in the carpet, which would probably pull out the first couple of times up the steps.
I wrote this on the paperwork before I signed and they left. I called the next morning (Sunday) to see if the company had gotten the message. They hadn't. In fact, I was told 1-3 business days before someone would get back with me. I was told by the salesman that if the job was not done correctly, someone would be back the same day to correct it. This is not true at all! In fact, I would have to call every day for the entire week and leave messages at the Baltimore office. When I called the corporate number, the customer service operators would try calling them and get no response. They would just keep "upgrading" my status to urgent. This didn't do any good.
Finally, 10 days after the initial day of installation, I got a call back. The representative had only been on the job for 1 week, and during that week he was in training. They said they could only come out 2 days later. This was not acceptable. I asked to speak with the manager, and he said they would come the next day. I asked why I hadn't gotten a call back and he said the office was short staffed. The next day came - I got a call saying the installers did not come to work that day and they couldn't install the carpet. Now, they would have to reschedule me again. I was promised they would be out first thing the next morning. I also found out they were trying to schedule me with the same guys! If they did it wrong the first time, they need to send someone else to fix it. I am not letting them in my house again.
Here we are, the next morning, and I get an automated call that they would be here in the afternoon. What!?!? After all this, now 13 days after initial install. When I tried calling the Baltimore office again, no one answered... surprise, surprise. The installation voicemail box was full, so I couldn't even leave a message. I had to leave a message in the general inbox. Customer service is awful and there is no follow-through. I don't know how they can stay in business in this market given the experience I have had and with the installers they have in the field.

I’ve been dealing with Empire Today for some years now. I had them do the whole inside of my home and they did a good job. So I got them again and had them install some carpets in February. The reps did what they came to do and my interactions with them were okay. The installation team did a good job as well. I would refer my friends to Empire Today.

We had carpet installed by Empire Today. They have better quality at a lower cost compared to other companies. They also had a better selection for us to choose from and we also liked the patterns they had. We got a pet resistant carpet, and I like it. The dogs don't often have accidents anymore 'cause they're a bit older, but when they do, it's easy to clean up.

A little lady approached me to go with another flooring brand but Empire did not do that. So, I went with them. I got some vinyl plank which was installed in the master bedroom of my home. I was satisfied with the work and the new flooring has met my expectations very well. However, I was puzzled when Empire made a call saying that I was scheduled for an appointment that day, that their reps supposed to be here between 9:00 and 11:00 in the morning, but I should not to call Empire if their reps were not yet here yet because they didn't know when they'd be here. Then, their reps didn’t get here until 1:00 in the afternoon. Other than that, the people that brought the products were very knowledgeable, very helpful, and thorough in helping me decide what would be the best product to use.

I looked at several other companies and Empire Today was better. However, I had two of their salespersons come to different locations and they didn’t know what they were doing. They couldn’t get the floor and the measurement right as well as the price so they had to send another salesperson out who finally got us through. The communication with the installer was wonderful though. I had one carpet installed in three bedrooms and living room and then another one, in two bedrooms and the hall. I've had a great experience with Empire Today and I've recommended them to several friends who got them to do some work.

The installation department of this company needs a serious revamping! I was scheduled for installation today (a date the company picked) and was told they would arrive at my residence at 12. However, when I called the company at 2:00 to find out why they not yet arrived, I was told that the installer was on another job and would come out tomorrow. But wait, I already took the day off work and displaced my 98 year old father in preparation for the installation. Shouldn't the installation team know their schedules and how much approximate time a single job should take?
Also, to add insult to injury, you cannot talk to the installation manager because they don't answer the phone, but should return your call in 24 hours? What the heck? I should have listened to the all reviews that point back to the installation department. I am really thinking about cancelling and going with another vendor. I guess you get what you pay for and sometime discounts equal disappointment.

We started with a real bang, when I fell on the floor from slipping on the plank they brought in to make sure they had the right color. Set it on the hall floor that was also wood finish looking vinyl flooring. I didn't see it and when I stepped on it, it was like ice, and I fell on my right knee. It still hurts.

Home Depot is a whole lot cheaper than Empire Today. But because I needed to have a carpet put in right away, I went with Empire. Right now though, I don't like the carpet I have because the color is a little off and it is more suited for a bedroom. I should have gone with the regular carpet. I saw other carpets, but it all went back to this carpet that I have which is more expensive and has the padding underneath that I don't like. I like the regular padding and I thought that was what they were gonna put in. Also, where they had put together the carpet from the little hallway to the living room, I can see where it's going to come apart eventually. Nevertheless, the people from Empire Today were great in putting in the carpet.

It’s expensive but you get what you pay for.

Back in 2000, I was living in Carson, California and had Berber carpet installed through Empire Today. I was really happy about the work they did so I called them back when I moved down here. I had the Berber again, a tighter one this time, but when they put it next to my tile, they had to re-fix it. The carpet was unraveling. It's like when you get a string and pull it, you're messing up the whole thing. So, I called Empire back, they came back and glued it. They told me that if I see a snag where it looks like it's coming a little, not to pull it. Because of what happened, they gave me a discount.
Another thing, the tile that I ended up picking for the bathroom and washroom had the right name on it but it was the wrong tile that was in the box. It's been over two weeks now and I've been waiting for them to get the right one or something that would match the rest of my tiles. They said they had me scheduled for the 23rd. The mix up wasn’t the installers’ fault and we’re trying to get it straightened out but ‘till then, my stuff is all over the place. I moved everything out of the way such that all they had to do was move my washer and dryer. Then I just found out that I can't pick up anything really heavy due to having a hernia in my navel. Thus, I can't move anything back. So, that’s kind of depressing too. But given my experience with Empire Today in 2000, I’d still recommend them.

If you live in the Denver metro area DO NOT consider Empire Today. I initially contacted them concerning installation of carpeting for most of my home. After meeting with a consultant and receiving 3 different estimates...which I thought was very shady...one offer was good just for that day. She assured me I could get that price for the carpet with only a 50.00 fee. I agreed to the price and paid the 50.00. I was set to have the carpet installed when my hot water heater exploded. I had to cancel the carpet installation due to obvious budget issues. When I tried to cancel the installation I was first placed on hold for over 20 minutes after being transferred to the "cancellation department." This departments sole purpose is to do everything in their power to persuade you to keep the contract. Their tactics were completely and utterly unscrupulous.
I kept telling "Mike" I need to cancel due to finances. He continued to say... “What if we pushed the installation forward past September.” These tactics are completely out of line!!! If a customer calls to cancel...the company has an obligation to immediately cancel… NOT transfer the person 3 times... with a total hold time of 30 minutes to several people!!! There is something wrong with the mindset of this company!!! IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I hope this helps someone else out there. When choosing a carpet company do NOT consider Empire Today!!!

We wanted hardwood and we were gonna do the hardwood set 70% off. We picked one and they came out to measure but then the Empire reps said they couldn't lay a floor on the whole area because it wasn’t level and they don’t remove the carpeting anymore. I had to pay somebody to take the carpeting off and take it away which was different than my other experience.
I called my sales guy who was always right there when I needed him and he came right over. I've already had the rug off and taken out and it was cold in here without the carpeting, so we decided we would just go with carpeting. We picked out the carpeting but this was three weeks later so that was out of stock. I had to pick another color that was closer to the other one. It was almost exactly the same and it was enough gray too from the last. It's a very small area and the rep said that I would get my credit as the carpeting was gonna cost less. That was good because I was getting $1,000 back. However, I've never gotten my money back. The Empire guys wanted me to buy something else so what the rep said about the credit was a big fat lie. It was not a happy time and I would love to have my money back.

When I had the sales rep came out he was very helpful and very knowledgeable. I thought this would be a very smooth and wonderful experience as a first time home buyer looking to do home improvements. The date was set for installers to come out, I get a phone call that something happened and it would need to be rescheduled. I was not upset. Things happen. It got rescheduled and the day of I get a phone call from a very rude girl, very unprofessional. I demanded to talk to a supervisor. He told me as with any business things like this happen. No. Things like this do not just keep happening! It was very unprofessional and especially waiting last minute to call me and inform me.
When the installers have finally came out they layer the carpet over my laminate flooring which was supposed to have been taken out prior too. They said it was not in the paperwork. They had my husband look at it and it was typed out on the first page on the very top! They still did NOT remove the laminate floors off the stairs, they did not properly lay the carpeting in my home, and they broke the tile on my kitchen floor! I am very upset! Not once did I get a phone call from a supervisor to ask if I was satisfied or pleased with the service after they have finished.
After they have left I have went into the bathroom. I had blood all over my bathroom sink from where one of the workers have cut their finger and did not ask for cleaning stuff to clean up their mess, there was toilet paper in my trash can from where he wiped causing my bathroom to smell like feces! I was very hospitable and kept offering them stuff to drink and have found my glasses laying everywhere instead of being kind enough to set them on my kitchen table. They did not have the proper tools to cut the laminate wood floors as my husband had to do that with several broken ribs!! They did NOT put the border of my walls back up after pulling them off!! And NOTHING is being done to rectify ANY of this!

He seemed seasoned and he was very friendly. I also felt comfortable with him being in the house. So, I had Empire install hardwood flooring and the gentleman who came here was polite and very professional. He cleaned up as well and did a very nice job. The flooring met every expectation I had and with these hardwood floors, I just take a mop and everything comes up. If a 5-year-old spills something on the floor, I can just wipe it up right away and there'd be nothing sticky there. Empire Today was absolutely wonderful.

I’ve been doing business with Empire for a lot of years. They always give me what they say they’ll give me when they say they’ll do it. Plus, the people who do the work have always been excellent. They do a great job and clean up after. There was only one time when I had an issue with Empire. Many years ago, I had my family room, kitchen, and hallway done with tile. In the kitchen, around my cupboards, they put the molding down. A couple of years later, one piece of the molding swelled up really bad and had to be replaced. Since it’s a molding that only Empire Today carries, I contacted them about getting this piece of molding which was exactly two and a half feet long. I was told that they would have to send a repairman out with that and that it was gonna cost me some ungodly amount of money.
I told them that I could replace it as there were only two nails holding it. I asked if I could just purchase the piece of molding. They told me no. At that point, I told them to take me off their list and I would never do business with them again. The next day, they called back and said they were gonna send a service person out to replace my piece of molding and that there was no charge. The next day a young gentleman came out and he had the molding. He replaced it at no charge to me. He also had a couple of extra pieces that he left with me in case it ever happened again.
I do all my business with Empire. I’m in a two-story colonial and the record would show everything on my floor in my home has always been Empire and even my window treatments at one time. To charge me that kind of money for this little piece of molding was absurd, but, they made it right. I was happy, which was why I called them back to do the carpet and hard flooring. The hard flooring was for our living room and the carpet was for the stairs and hallway going upstairs. I recommended Empire Today for my son’s home a few years back too and I would recommend them to anybody that asks me.

I have had a terrible experience with this company. The empire representative that came to my house assured me that two separate carpet installs would not be an issue and that if I wanted to change my mind about the carpet color to just call him. I decided to go with a different color two weeks before my first install. I spoke to him directly and sent him a text and he said it was no problem. When the carpet came my husband was told it was bamboo the color I wanted it changed to but when I came home I realized that it was mindful color I had originally picked. So the representative lied to me and the installers lied to my husband.
Now we are trying to get the second carpet installed and the representative is not returning my calls and his mailbox is full. I have called the company 5 times already and they have left a message 4 times for a woman who is suppose to call me back and hasn't. Now my husband is on the phone speaking to the supervisor who is still not helping to solve any of this confusion and all she said she can do is leave a message for another person to call us back. I have no idea how this company runs but I will not be using them again. We have a baby on the way and right now without this install I have boxes upon boxes in my living room that we NEED to start setting up in her room. What a disappointment.

We have had Empire do four projects in our home and rental property in the past with no issues. We decided to use them for a simple flooring replacement on our basement steps and landing. After taking two days off work to get it done, it’s still unfinished and what’s there hasn’t been properly installed. Our complaint was supposedly “expedited” to a customer service manager who does not return our calls. Installers have always been late and don’t seem to know what they are doing. We’ve asked for different installers and at this point have been told we won’t know until the day of the third try to get this done whether they can come in the morning or afternoon. I am beyond angry and would not recommend this company. Spend the extra money to save yourself frustration and vacation days.
Updated on 08/06/2018: I recently put a post on here describing unfinished work, unprofessional behavior and taking 3 days off to get stairway flooring installed. I received a call back from the company. I was assured someone would come in a timely manner and fix the job today. I was also told by more than one person it would not be the same installers who messed up the first three times. After taking another day off, no one contacted us until they were 5 hours late. It was still going to be almost 2 hours later that they would arrive. Most surprising was that it was the same installers who we were told would not be used.
The day was wasted and we were not interested in having someone who did shoddy work three times back into the house to mess it up even more. The stairs are unfinished, what’s there likely can’t be salvaged and now we have to find someone to do a job that Empire makes you pay for before they start working. I am hoping that Empire will refund what we’ve paid and we can simply forget this whole situation. Unfortunately the days which were taken off work can’t be replaced. I’m not sure what happened to this company since the first four projects they did for us but needless to say it wasn’t good.

I purchased laminate wood flooring from 'Empire Today' just over a year ago. Initially installed in April 2017. When the installer arrived, he was by himself (was supposed to be 2 installers). He asked for payment although I had arranged financing with the salesman. Managed to get that cleared up for him to begin the install. As he was alone, it took him until almost 10pm to finish. He also had not been informed that he needed to level part of the subfloor, another oversight by the salesman. A couple of weeks went by when we noticed the floor was sagging badly in one area. Called them out to inspect, and they agreed it needed to be fixed. They came back out and re-leveled the floor and put back together (it took 2 appointments as the first time they showed up, they didn't have the materials needed).
Another couple of weeks go by and now the floor is 'buckling'. Again, inspector comes out and agrees that installer put in "too tight" and used glue/nails where he shouldn't have to allow floor to 'float'. Scheduled another repair date. The date arrives and new installer shows up, again without all the needed materials (did not come in as expected). Re-scheduled AGAIN and finally thought it was right. So, now we're up to 4 visits, each time causing me to take time away from work, not to mention that I did not always get a call like I was told I would with their ETA. This caused them to leave during an appointment as I wasn't home because they didn't bother to call.
Fast forward to now, where AGAIN, the floor is buckling badly. My wife called and was told we would get a call back in 24-48 hours 96 hours later, I get the call. The customer (non)service person was too busy explaining their crap policy to me and not listening to my concerns. She said it would be $125 for them to come look at their crummy job because it had been over a year since the installation. I tried to explain to her that it had been LESS than a year since they had gotten it actually installed right (or so we thought). She was too busy going through her script and reiterating their policy to listen to what I had to say.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that she could request that, but I would have to wait another 24-48 hours. When I told her what I thought about this system, she began to talk over me again. I waited for her to finish and again tried to convey my concerns to her. She was not having it, and interrupted me and began to talk over me AGAIN! I lost my cool, and regrettably used some not so appropriate language. At which time she ended the call. I am still fuming at the lack of concern this company continues to demonstrate to their customers and shoddy workmanship. DO NOT USE EMPIRE TODAY FOR ANYTHING!

I liked Empire's timing and cost. They put in a carpet on the stairway and upstairs hall, and a hardwood floor in the living room. The installation people on the hardwood floors were superlative and so was the guy who did the carpet. They were fast and efficient, and they cleaned up after themselves. The carpet and the hardwood are wonderful. I sent Empire customer service an email after the installation telling them how pleased I was and I also told the man who came to talk to me about the carpet how pleased I was with the hardwood floor.

I've had Empire before with my carpets and I had one of my rooms done. I thought I would try them and see if their price is a little better and it was. I could only afford two rooms at that time. I liked the guys who did the floor. They did a nice job and they were easy to work with. There was one board that seemed to be a little different but it was nothing serious. We've had carpet our whole life and although switching to a hard floor is kinda different, it was what we wanted because of our dogs. My dogs are older and I was getting tired of cleaning up messes. Now, I can clean up the floor really quick and be done with it.
I have one more room to do and Empire told me it was $1,200 for the last room. Also, there was a $250 off. But they came a couple of weeks ago and they gave me a price $500 higher. Empire's rep measured the room and he came up with a $1,700 price instead of the $1,200 and that was including the $250 which didn’t make any sense to me since the room was small. Some lady called me and she was gonna check into it and get back with me but she didn't. I was not really thrilled with them with this recent part. Somebody should have at least called me this time. We were gonna buy our last room through them but nobody seems to want my business so I'm gonna probably go down to a different place.

The speed of it was very good, too -- next week availability. They did three rooms in a day, and they were great. The flooring has been holding up very well.

I wouldn't go to anybody else. Empire Today is the oldest one that is still in business and I've never heard anything bad about them. We had a rug installed in our front room and Empire Today was fantastic. Our carpet was in here the day after and they gave absolutely great service. I have never had a company that was pleasant and respectful straight up. There was no complaint about anything, all the way down from their salesman to the sweet little people who came in and installed the rug. I love it and I would use them again.

I am a returning customer and had no issues the first time several years ago. However this time it started with a no call/no show on the est for carpet for 2 rooms. Ok whatever. Made a new one. So I order the carpet, give deposit and tell them that I needed an afternoon appointment. They said no issue with that and added a note. Day of the appointment I wait all day and get no call, email, etc and no one ever showed. So I call customer service and make a new appointment. After speaking to a manager same thing. Need an afternoon appointment and again they say Np and make a note.
The day of I get a call in the morning from the installer. They had a cancellation and are on the way. But I am in class which is why I said, "Hey I need an afternoon appointment." So I speak to a second supervisor and this is when I start getting pissed. He tells me that I should take the whole day off because they can't guarantee a time. So as of now I am waiting for his boss to call me back. But how can he tell me that when two other people told me nothing about, "Hey you need to take the whole day off." They are the dollar store of flooring and at this point I am done with this ** service.

I’ve been using Empire Today for years and my whole house was done by them. When I needed flooring for my living room and dining room, that was who I went with. First, they installed linoleum but it bubbled up so bad because it was damp underneath, so I had to complain and complain about that. They finally came out and picked it up, then they put the new stuff down. But it was still the same way, so they had to pick it up again. We had to wait about two weeks for the floor to dry before they came back out to put the floor down again. So, I had a bare and ugly floor for about two weeks. I had little changes with that and they ended up doing laminate in that area. All in all, it took from April to July to get the work done.
They weren’t understandable as far as what was going on but they were nice people. They had to end up getting somebody else to do the work but regardless of whatever went on, Empire did what they had to do to make it correct. Also, that was the first time anything ever happened like that and I learned from that experience. The floor looks good now and it’s easy to clean. I'm happy with it. Overall, I had some difficulties but I still love Empire Today. If I need them again, I’ll still call them.

I’ve used Empire Today years ago when I was in construction. I like the expertise that they put into the quality of their installations. This last time, I had them install carpet in two specific rooms in my home. I'm 65 and I’m disabled now. I have a custom staircase and the installer figured it was gonna take two or three hours to do it, and it took him eight. Still, when he was done, the work was impeccable. He even took pictures to take with him to show people what they had done there.
Though I would recommend Empire Today for their carpet, hardwood and their SnapLock flooring, I would not recommend them for their vinyl. They only had half a dozen selection and most of them were really dark like hardwood. There were no floral prints or stuff that was bright and airy looking. I would have used Empire for four rooms with vinyl but all they had was the wood grain-looking stuff. Nevertheless, Empire Today met my expectations and even went way over them. They put in a very good product and I like the durability and the colors.

It looked like wood but it wasn’t wood, and it looked really nice. I’m planning on getting the upstairs area and our kitchen done too, but that would be another $100 and I don’t have the credit to do that right now. I also need carpeting in my other bedroom, but I want to hold off on that for a little bit. Nevertheless, Empire did an excellent job and I loved my new flooring. Everything went very well and I was very satisfied.

I'm submitting this review on behalf of my sister, and you'll find out why shortly. She hired Empire Today to install LVT and carpet in her 3-story townhome. They had to remove the washer/dryer and a toilet to install the floors but when they re-installed the washer, they did it incorrectly and it flooded all 3 floors of her home. All floors, walls, and the ceiling of her 2nd floor had to be removed to get rid of all the moisture.
She had called the salesperson, Curtis **, who came out to take pictures and reassured her that he would take care of everything. Well, after speaking to him via text today since his VM is full, he said he submitted the pictures to customer service and said that's all he could do. It has been 3 months since this fiasco started and my sister is living in a construction war zone.
After repeated calls to Empire Today for resolution, there has been NOTHING done. Only customer service managers telling us to call other customer service managers and now we were referred to a STEVE ** who is the sales manager for the West Coast. Of course he's never in and we've left several VM with zero response. Even his cell phone number doesn't work. To top everything off, her house was burglarized over the weekend and the police think it was due to the fact that her home has been under construction for so long that the burglars thought it was vacant. They took everything so I'm writing this complaint on her behalf. We are at a loss of what to do next...
Mira, we regret to hear about your sisters experience and we'd like to further assist her. Please have her contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com for further assistance, thank you.

Today I had a rep from Empire come to my house for an estimate. On arrival, I told him that I wanted our stairs carpeted because our dogs slide when they go up and down the hardwood stairs. He did not listen to me and kept suggesting that we put a "strip" of rug on each stair to match the trim. I finally just agreed with him so I could get through the estimate and get him gone. Then, I found out the estimate was a hefty 1,200 dollars, which was much higher than I expected. I told him I must check and approve with my fiance before I can confirm if we will move forward. This is when his demeanor immediately changed.
He began explaining all of the reasons that I had to finalize with him today in a very pushy manner. He didn't even care if I canceled, he just needed me to finalize and would literally not take "no" for an answer. He even used the cancellation as a closing tactic, saying "You can just cancel it". It was so intense I felt like I must agree to get him gone.
Oh, and there was a $20 cash fee in order for him to proceed with the "contracts" that I was just going to cancel anyways. He even demanded to know the color of the carpet we picked out to put on the contracts which we had not even decided yet BECAUSE IT WAS AN ESTIMATE. I sense he could tell I had reached the limit of my frustration and let the "color" go for now. So to get him gone, I filled out his contracts, knowing damn well I am going to cancel and never deal with Empire Today again.
This was not an estimate, this was literally manipulating me into signing a contract. I was in high-pressure sales for 10 years of my life selling everything from cell phones to wireless automation - I can honestly say this was the most high-pressure sales situation I have ever experienced. Never dealing with Empire Today again.
Aaron, this is not the experience that we wish for our customers during their in-home consultations. We'll be looking into this matter.

We had hardwood floors installed throughout our entire house (over 2,000 sq. Ft!) about 2 months ago. The install went well but we quickly noticed that the floors creaked terribly. It sounds like you are walking on bubble wrap. We were able to get 2 different employees from Empire come out and inspect the floors. Both confirmed that the material was faulty. Both employees ensured someone would be in touch with us to resolve the problem. At this point, we just want the material ripped out and to never deal with them again. We have contacted our “Customer Service Manager” on a DAILY BASIS for almost 2 weeks. We also contact the corporate office and are told “someone will contact us in 24 hours.” We are still waiting for someone in customer service to contact us and will continue to call on a daily basis until this issue is resolved. Bottom line, DO NOT EVER USE EMPIRE. They have the worst customer service ever!

I just recently purchased a new home and the carpets were terrible so I decided to go with laminate flooring. I contacted Empire and their customer service was great, they were able to send someone out for an estimate right away. The person doing the estimate seemed very knowledgeable, was able to answer my questions and able to help match me with the best flooring product. I was leaving on vacation so I scheduled install 2 1/2 weeks out for July 16. On July 14 Empire called and said that my product still wasn't in and they weren't sure it would be on time. I said OK and asked them to call on Monday (the 16th) to let me know when they thought the product would be in.
On the 16th I was told it would take another week for them to have my flooring delivered and they would be able to install the NEXT Monday the 23rd. When I asked why the delay they said that my product had been in the warehouse and because the install was a ways out they sold it to another person assuming there would be time to get a new order in. On the 23rd they arrived as promised and the installers were very professional but found when the carpet was removed that they needed to even out the floor first, so because of drying time they wouldn't be able to install until the 25th, things happen I understand.
On the 25th they came out again, the crew was very friendly and very good and their job but didn't have any of the transition pieces for between rooms, they said they'd install everything else that day and then return to do the transitions within the next couple days. I waited for 5 days and when they didn't call me back to say they were coming to install I called customer service who said no such request had been put in and they didn't know that the transition pieces were needed (even though I noted it on the paperwork). I was told that they could come out later in the week sometime between August 1 and 3rd (16-18 days AFTER the job was supposed to be completed). So far they have not arrived to finish the job but hopefully it is completed soon. Timing aside, the product is beautiful and looks to be well installed, it has just taken MUCH longer than promised which would cause me to hesitate before recommending them to anyone.

Our family's experience has been horrible since the beginning. On 4/16/2018 my husband and I met with an Empire representative or floor sales person to see some hard wood floor samples. After agreeing what we wanted documentation was submitted for installation and financing was set in place. After that everything went downhill from installation, wrong materials, delays, bad customer service, lack of respect and communication. This is not what we expected from a reputable company we're at a point where we're considering legal action be taken. My husband and I have talked to people in Texas, and the contractor supervisor from Tulsa and all we're getting is the run around and no solution. The problem we're having with our hardwoods is that the material was not left in our home to climate because it was being rushed from Texas since they messed up our orders the first time.
We called Empire to express that concern and was told that the flooring needed to glued down (because it's squeaking really bad and to this day it's getting worse), ok so we submit the paperwork for the additional financing which would of been $1,000.00 and $100.00 was reduced for the inconvenience mind you this is the second time they deducted a convenience fee.
The first time it was because of the wrong material delay. Installer shows up and tells us he was given a work ticket for installation and not a glue down, so there goes another delay. We never get calls back within 24 hrs, no courtesy calls or follow ups. This has all been very inconvenient. 1. We have to take off from work to deal with this. 2: Our new furniture is having to be moved and moved because they keep telling us that they're coming and never do.

They told me they tried to get a hold of the market but left a message & asked me to call back around 10:30am. I called again at 10:40. Spoke with customer service, still no answer on when an installer will be calling me. She said she left message with installer and installer would be calling me back. Turk ** called at 11:30 to let me know that the truck was loaded but my laminate wasn't, so how do you load without product? He said he'd call RDC and get back to me in 1/2 hour but never did. I called customer service again for the 3rd time, she said she left messages with everyone she could. Turk ** called at 3:30 to tell me that they did not have enough product and they will not be out to install today & would let me know by end of the day with a status. Which he did not let me know anything.
I called again 4th time around 7:30, customer service left a voice mail with the market & told me someone would call me in 24 hours. I took the day off work, (which I will be compensated for), moved my furniture to have to sit there all day to wait for someone to call me. I know that is not the right thing to do. Worst experience ever!!! Bought a house, needed flooring, my sons said use Empire good "TRUSTED COMPANY". I called spoke with customer service and had a appointment within couple days. Great right!!! The lady came met with me my son and his wife going over flooring choices, went over how we want something strong durable and scratch resistant. Great, "How much do you want to spend". I told her, “I want top of the line, want it to last,” so we picked it out and I was happy paid my deposit. Done deal right??? The installer was already mad cause they screwed up my order, I said, “Please do baseboards in the bedroom first for bed was on it way to be installed.” He protested he does not do baseboard it is carpet guy.
Called Empire who then confirmed it was part of his contract to do the baseboards. He told me if Empire does not pay me I will be back. I just paid him the $200.00 cash to get it over with, if this is the worst that comes screw it. (one would think). I left the house and went back to work. Came back home at 7:00p.m I pulled up as they were packing up. We went inside to see it looked great as good as a new floor could, something was a little off but I thought it was just because I seen a sample not the whole thing. My son and his wife came over and noticed the same thing but really had no samples to go off of. About 4 months after install I noticed server scratching all over thought ok, I called in talk to Amber, was told floor are not scratch "PROOF". I explained this was not what I was sold and these scratches are coming from the smallest things, move a kitchen chair, dog walking across, sweeping, these are coming up for the smallest things.
Again told it’s my problem. In April 2018 I called in to tell them my floor is separating the boards are coming apart!!! I was told to take pictures with money in the cracks for "PROOF" so I did and when they seen that I could fit quarters in between the cracks they sent some out their best installer!!! DING DING same ** who installed my floor the first time, who then told me he was never here before. They spent maybe 10 mins here got everything right and left. Here we are July my floors are coming apart. Worse I call in explain what’s going on and again Empire required me to submit proof in pictures sent to them like I am lying.
Latasha contacted me from customer service and said they could come out to fix it once I pointed out the original fix was within the maintenance year or for $75.00 they would send a manager out to inspect the install job. I did and expressed this is even worse. My son took over, seeing how the floor is scratching so easy and coming apart everywhere he informed Empire with my blessing that he is the new contact and we need to have a manager out to the house to look at what’s going on. Come up with a plan being how I have been pushed around by them too much already.
Latisha then informed Kevin with a attitude that again the is not scratch proof and it was something we are doing wrong. Then informed Kevin of the $75.00 charge it is going to be to get someone out here. Kevin said on top of the 6000 dollars my mom spent that is getting screwed over on you want more money!!! Ok you win. Kevin agreed, called me to get all flooring info that I had out, warranty, complete price, install date, everything. I then told him we still have one box of the flooring from the install in the garage. Kevin got here was going over the box and happen to look at the invoice. And what do you know, what was sold to me and what was installed was completely two different types of flooring!!! I paid for and is on my invoice - type: Vallette series: Acacia Natural, and what was installed in my house was type: Home Style Connection Series: American tobacco.
I got completely taken, bait and switch, if my son had not been so persistent and looking into this I would of never known wiser, they would of fixed said scratches are not Empire’s fault and leave. Now we are waiting till August 8th pay our $75.00 for a "manager" to show them how they really take advantage of an older individual. I paid top dollar because I wanted it to last ($5600.00 for 800 sq ft do the math just at $7.00 a sq ft) and I got flooring that should be about $3.00 a sq ft and customer service skills that is worthless. We will see where this goes but I have yet to get a hold of anyone, and can’t get a direct number. At this point, as far as I am concerned, this place is a complete bait and switch type outfit and should have some type of charges against them. I will be contacting the Colorado Consumer Fraud division and the BBB with my complaint.
Kevin, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We've located your order and we'll be in touch with you soon.

Then he showed me samples and I picked out one that's two-tone and it was absolutely gorgeous when they put it down. I didn’t think it was gonna look that good. I have very bad feet and it's very cushy and soft to walk on. I love it.
I had black stuff coming up from the old carpet and it was a bit there when I bought the place. We all thought it was mold and after a few years, the black stuff has come up all over now. I bought mold stuff for the guys to spray and when they picked up the carpet, they showed me a black padding and water damage that had been there years ago. The carpet had gotten wet and the water started soaking through. It looked like mold and it was disgusting. It looked like a patent leather carpeting and I’ve never seen anything so awful. Anyhow, the guys from Empire Today did a spectacular job. They were fabulous and I already have recommend them.

Our house is 18 years old and had the antique cherry color for the flooring. But when I checked, it was no longer available. I wanted to go with a different color anyway. I had Empire Today put down hardwood floor in the large family room. The guy brought the hardwood in and laid it down next to our flooring so I just matched it according to the grain with a little darker color because even though our house is an open floor plan, it was a separate room.
Empire Today did the installation well. The guy who installed, and the guy who was their leader, were very nice and efficient. They cleaned out everything really well. However, I noticed that whenever I put those little things on the Dry Swiffer and use it on my new hardwood floor, there is a little tint of red color that comes off on the Swiffer. I knew it was coming from the one that Empire put down because the other flooring has never done that. But overall, the experience I had with Empire was really good. I like the choice that I made and right now, I’m satisfied with the flooring.

Empire never showed up on the date the vinyl was originally scheduled to be installed, Saturday, June 30, 2018. That appointment had been set probably a month before. I tried calling the installation department all day, their installation department voicemail was "not accepting messages," I tried customer service and left a dozen messages on that line and never got a return call. I finally called the new appointment line and was told that someone would call me on Monday and that I had cancelled the installation, which I didn't. I wouldn't have spent an entire Saturday sitting at home trying to call Empire if I had cancelled the installation.
I didn't receive a call on Monday and after numerous attempts again to reach someone in the installation or customer service department without success, I again talked to someone in the new estimate department who said there was some problem with the credit department. I had paid about 60% of the entire installation (carpet and vinyl) at the time I contracted with Empire, I don't know what that problem could possibly have been. They had considerably more of my money than the cost of the kitchen vinyl installation.
The new estimate line contacted the customer service/installation dept. and finally got the installation scheduled for the following Saturday (July 7). The old vinyl was to be have removed, per my contract. The installer didn't do that, he said the old vinyl was adhered too tightly to the subfloor and would damage the subfloor if removed. This is something the sales person should have known at the time of the sale. They are supposed to be the experts, I'm just a customer looking for a new vinyl floor. I told installer that I paid to have the old vinyl removed, that it was in my contract, he again said it was adhered too tightly, and not to worry the new stuff would be super easy to remove since the glue they used now didn't stick nearly as tight. So the installer said I would get a refund for the work that wasn't done (I am still waiting for that refund since July 7), it is now July 30.
I asked the installer to place sliders under the refrigerator after he was done, he said they don't do that. I again asked him to put the sliders on the fridge since I wasn't capable of moving it myself, but he refused. A few days later the refrigerator was moved by a contractor and the new vinyl was ripped, I guess because it "doesn't stick as good as the old stuff" and there were bubbles all over the floor. The contractor probably hit one of the bubbles and since this new glue doesn't stick as good, the bubble ripped.
At first Empire said they wouldn't fix it, that it wasn't their fault. They would be happy to repair it but that I would have to pay, which I refused to do. Then a few days later I discovered numerous "bubbles" in the new vinyl so Empire did agree to come out and deal with the bubbles and repair the rip without charging me for that. However, that was after I threatened to cancel the balance (carpet for living room, dining room, stairs, hall and 3 bedrooms) and demanded a refund for the vinyl as well since they did a crappy job.
The carpet installers came Saturday, July 28. The refused to haul the old carpet from one bedroom and the hallway, they said it smelled bad, which it did, but the salesperson knew of the problem and should have told me that they wouldn't be able to take the old carpet from those two rooms. The carpet installers did a decent, not extraordinary job, and so far (although it's only been 2 days) the carpet seems to be fine. However, they didn't bother to leave any of the cut-out pieces for possible future repairs. I've never known carpet installations not to leave a few of the left over pieces, after all what are they going to be able to do with them. The pieces sure aren't big enough to carpet anything other than maybe a closet.
I would not recommend Empire to anyone. The only person that I got any feedback from was a secretary who at least would respond to me, so I give her high marks. The salesperson when I spoke with her after the first day when nobody showed up or called said they are so busy with the hot real estate market. The young saleslady who came out was very good and knowledgeable, and she helped my wife choose a color for the carpet. The installation process was also excellent and the workers were very competent. I know about workmanship, and the workmanship was first class. The whole experience was fine and the new carpeting on the stairs has met all of our expectations. Our daughter recommended Empire Today and I would recommend it to a friend, certainly.

One of my friends works for Empire and my wife organized the installation of a carpet from them. It was for the basement so the main concern was we wanted it to be durable and easily cleanable. We didn’t want it to be able to get a bunch of dirt on it. The sales rep was real good. And the installers were nice. They took care of business and it was all seamless. I’d recommend Empire to people.

I had vinyl planking put down in my kitchen and bathroom, and carpet throughout the rest. I looked at installing it myself through Home Depot and Lowe’s, but decided I didn’t want to get involved in it. So, I did some research online and read the reviews that people write in. The determining factor was Empire didn’t really have that many bad reviews where everybody else had a lot. So we had the flooring installed by them and it was perfect. They were fast and courteous too, and they cleaned up after themselves as well. It was phenomenal. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

I scheduled an appointment with Empire for 26 July between 4-6 PM. They did not show; I called customer service and they did patch me through to the rep; he stated he did not know of our appointment. I told him I had a confirmation number for it. He promised to be at our house @ 8PM same evening because he lives in our town. He called at 9PMish after I had texted him and said if he was not at the house at 9AM next day to forget. He immediately called and said he had a dental appointment and could be here at noon...ok one last chance. Well he arrived stating various reasons for the night before (sure). He measured our master bedroom for hardwood flooring; brought in samples which might match our other hardwood flooring (we have the SKU# and name of our flooring and asked if they could order it-No they couldn’t) and then we started to discuss price.
Our master bedroom is quite large and we have gathered 3 other estimate quotes. The rep proceeded to enlighten us it would cost $18,885.00 dollars to do our room! Both my husband and I were totally astonished! That is over $13K more than our highest quote!! We said, "No thank you." He said, "Just a minute," and called he said his boss; he said, "Wow unheard of, my boss said to leave until you all sign so we have dropped the price to $5,800!!!" WTH! A moment ago it was $18,885. Now this price. Hmmm! We are thinking that was the correct price to begin with; however, we guess he thought he could actually get us to say yes to the first price, we are seniors so this leads us to think they are not honest with the older generation!
He then asked we put down 5-10% now (not a problem) and then pay the full amount before the job begins-that’s before the installers set foot in our house! I said, "But the job is not done," and he said, "That’s how Empire does it!" Really? I asked him if he took his car into the shop for brakes would he pay $400 upfront and then let the mechanic work on his car; he said he’d have to pay to get the keys. I said, "Well we don’t mind the 5-10% and then 1/2 of the amount still owed but the final payment is when the job is completed." He said, "Are you calling Empire a shoddy business?" No we never said the word shoddy (and have not used that word in a while)! He called his boss again and got off the phone and said again how amazed he was because his boss said we could pay the final amount at completion! Hmm! Imagine that?
He packed up his samples and left after we said no deal. So we have a “gut” feeling that we were being played if not scammed because of our age. Come on from $18,885 to $5,800; to paying all monies prior to work being done to not having to? A bit fishy to us. At any age do let the rep talk you into anything and especially if you know or feel it’s not right!! We will never do business with this company and we will let anyone that asks us about them know, not to do business with this company.

I contacted Empire to put in wood and tile flooring in my home. The first installation (wood) went great. The installers were nice, knowledgeable, and efficient. Our tile has been a different story. We had too much moisture in our subflooring when they came to install the tile so we had to set up a later date for install to allow the wood to dry. All of our flooring was ripped up in half of our house and no one ever contacted me from Empire to follow up on when they would return or when the next install was scheduled for. I had to contact them after it had been a week to find out what the plan was. They set up another install date, called me at 7 am saying someone was on the way and they did not show up until 2 hours later and they only sent someone to check the moisture level (not install) the floor. This person said it was still too wet and needed a couple more days to dry out and he left.
Another week goes by, I hear nothing from Empire, I call them back and they say installation is set for a week later. Here we are going on week 3 with half of our floors ripped up, 3 kids (one a toddler who has gotten splinters from walking on subflooring), and 2 dogs and we are finally set to get the tile put in. Empire calls at 7 am saying, "Installers are on the way." It's now 9:30 am. No one has shown up and when I contact Empire they say they cannot reach our installer by phone and if they have not arrived by 10:30 to call back. This has been the most unorganized, unprofessional ordeal and I will NEVER use Empire again. They need to get it together with the sub contractors they use and come up with a better system because there is definitely no communication between the two and the customers are in limbo waiting for install and hours for people to show up when we have already had to pay for everything up front. Take my advice and go elsewhere!

This company claims to take "customer service" seriously stating "WORLD CLASS CUSTOMER SERVICE." I beg to differ. First of all, this company is by far the most unprofessional organization I have heard done business with. They show up TWO DAYS LATE of our scheduled appointment and shows up UNANNOUNCED at our home WITH ATTITUDE--as if the INSTALLER (MICHAEL, a ** male from the San Diego branch) was the one angry with us for being at our home to do HIS JOB.
Anyway, the only people home at the time was my 70-yr old dad and two sisters (both over 21 y/o). Aside from his bratty grunting and mumbling under his breath when he started doing his job, MICHAEL began making comments about our home. (These were recorded by the way). One in particular, MICHAEL had said "WHAT THE ** IS THIS **. DIRTY ** ASIAN HOUSE." Loudly and had no ounce of professionalism. MICHAEL made it seem like my parents' home belongs on "HOARDERS" or something. Regardless, I do NOT and CANNOT FATHOM how anyone doing their job of INSTALLING NEW FLOORING to make any comment like that one in the first place. WHAT DOES HE EVEN MEAN "DIRTY ** ASIAN HOUSE."
This first day of installation was on 7/26/18, Michael came to my parent's home with one other person (a very nice and professional ASIAN MAN). Michael was already throwing hissy fits and making obscene racial comments all day on 7/26/18--What kind of training does Empire Today even provide? To allow installers berate Empire Today's customers in a racial and discriminatory manner? WAIT I'M NOT DONE. ON THE SECOND DAY OF INSTALLATION, 7/27/18... OH MAN. Again, only person home was my father and two sisters however I was on FaceTime with my sisters during this encounter. So, Michael and his (professional) assistant started doing the kitchen and family room. When MICHAEL was installing the flooring in the kitchen, he DEMANDINGLY YELLED at my father and sisters "GET THIS ** OUT OF MY FACE BEFORE I ** THROW UP. THAT'S SO DISGUSTING!"
He was referring to a plate of chicken and fried rice my dad had left on the kitchen counter... and apparently house flies were in the house because we live in California and weather is 110-115F so they had left the doors and sliding open. Again, what company tolerates an "employee" to make comments like this in THEIR CUSTOMER'S HOME. Michael CONTINUALLY berated, embarrassed, disrespected my father and sisters in OUR OWN HOME with his racist unprofessionalism. My sister was helping by trying to clean out the trash being left by Michael and some on the floor in a plastic bag--my sister had placed the plastic bag (ONLY TEMPORARILY) on a little hook to just collect a few more trash pieces. BUT MICHAEL TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF and aggressively grabbed the trash bag and THREW IT OUT OF THE KITCHEN ONTO THE FLOOR.
Michael's behavior was beyond appalling and completely unacceptable. This was OUR HOME. MICHAEL IS AN INSTALLER to DO A JOB. By this time, my father and sisters have had it already with Michael's behavior. Once Michael raised his voice AGAIN towards my sister because of a plate of food on the counter, my sister had told him "What is your problem? It's just food." Michael RAISED HIS VOICE to my sister (23 y/o, 5/4" ASIAN GIRL) and angrily approached my sister less than a foot away from her face and BEGAN SHOUTING AT HER IN OUR HOME WITH HIS FISTS CLENCHED SAYING, "I DEMAND A RESPECTABLE WORKING ENVIRONMENT!"
Ok, ATTEMPTED ASSAULT. Once MICHAEL had approached my sister with an ANGRY, YELLING TONE of voice to my sister MY DAD FINALLY KICKED HIM OUT OF OUR HOUSE. I started calling Customer Service. Spoke with different representatives. I HAVE MANY REF NUMBERS because I had to call numerous times for each time this disgusting display of unprofessionalism was displayed.
I was able to speak to this so-called CORPORATE OFFICE person named "JAY **" or "JUEL **" (again from San Diego branch)--now THIS guy JAY WAS CLAIMING TO BE CORPORATE OFFICE. JAY told me after he had talked to my sister, "Like I told your sister, I AM CORPORATE OFFICE and any complaints goes through me. I handle ten thousand emails on a daily basis so I screen them and decide which ones are filtered out" AFTER I told him that I wanted to file a complaint against MICHAEL.
So I replied, "So just to clarify, you are telling me that I should not file or waste my time to file a complaint against Michael because YOU ARE CORPORATE and this issue isn't important?" Jay replied, "Yes that is what I'm saying. I am the corporate office." I replied, "So to my understanding of your tone of voice and your demeanor towards me regarding my complaint with MICHAEL, are you condoning to his behavior? Because I have not heard one "I apologize for this inconvenience" to say the least." Jay replied BY YELLING AT ME, "MA'AM DID I SAY THAT I AM!!!" I replied, "Are you yelling at me?"
JAY CONTINUE TO YELL, "DID I SAY ONE WORD THAT I AM!!!" Again, yelling at me (because supposedly he's corporate office. WHAT KIND OF corporate office yells at their customers? Jay continues to yell at me and said, "Do you want your flooring done or not. It's a simple answer yes or no. Do you want it done or not." So threatening and giving ultimatums is a standard practice of Empire Today? They commit unprofessional, racial, discriminatory acts and then threaten you to not complete installation.
I simply replied, "No, I do not want anyone from your branch in San Diego." Then, JAY HUNG UP ON ME. HAHAHA. OH MY GOODNESS, what kind of company is this? And to charge us almost $9,000 FOR THIS KIND OF TREATMENT. THIS ISSUE WILL BE ESCALATED. My family and I do not appreciate or deserve this kind of racist treatment from any company needing our business and money to be MADE FUN OF, EMBARRASSED AND HARASSED with ATTEMPTED ASSAULT from a disgusting floor installer MICHAEL.
MICHAEL CLAIMED TO BE THE SUPERVISOR too after my father said that he wants to speak with the manager. EMPIRE TODAY, PLEASE train and hire truthful and respectful employees because they are ruining this company to the ground, literally. "WORLD CLASS CUSTOMER SERVICE"??? PLEASE CHANGE YOUR SLOGAN.

As I have never been in this particular store, I have unfortunately done business with this company. My husband and I were easy sales about 3 years ago, as everything in our home was white and not a good mix with kids and dogs! We picked out of new floors. Even opted for the better carpet and have never wished we could go back in time more!!! We felt completely misled by our sales rep as nothing went the way he prepared us for. We had multiple installation problems, installers coming late or not a all for repairs and even one installer who showed up and just simply said he didn't want to do the job so he didn't. I will say after several phone calls and appointments we finally got the carpet and vinyl floors we were completely happy with!
BUT, sadly it did not last. About a year half later the gaping of the poorly installed floors got too much for me to bear and an daily used threshold came off. We called and they did send some installers out to fix that and a couple other issues. BUT, sadly that did not last. About a year later the gaping came back and the same threshold was no longer attached. They had someone come out to inspect our complaints and we got approved for a reinstall. We picked our product and agreed on real painted white wood quarter rounds. We thought everything was straight forward.
Early this month the installers came out, on time, and started working. I checked their work pretty closely given my past experiences and one installer even told me I was "difficult to work for" which really kinda floored me (no pun intended) and I kinda stepped back not wanting any of frustrations taken out on his work. After they leave it looked good and the quarter rounds were white but didn't look like painted wood... My suspicion were confirmed. When my 3 year found a scrap piece (of quarter round) and asked me what is was... compressed material with basically a white sticker around it!
I called, complained and it took more than one attempt/message to get Charles the customer service manager out of the Baltimore area not to call me back but actually answer his phone. We started communicating and after a couple phone calls we set a date last to fix those quarter rounds. That day comes, I have my schedule cleared, I have my garage set up with a window ac unit running and fan for my dogs, I have activities for my two kids, we wait the time period and beyond and no one comes and no one shows up.
I'm upset I call into the call center to complain. (Still from that date on I have not heard back from Charles or anyone else out of the Baltimore office that I have left messages with...) Through the call center I set up a new appointment for the next day. Same scenario, I was like, "Alright. I'll keep the same game plan." We were waiting, schedule clear, home activities planned, dog cool spot set up... and NO CAME AND AGAIN NO CANCELLATION CALL! I called the call center again and they said emails will be sent out and should hear from corporate. I never heard from corporate. I call Baltimore again. Haven't heard back... I call the call center again and was promised that everyone involved was included in the email and everyone in the corporate office she and someone should get back to in 24 hours but it was after hours... I am still waiting... I know feel like I have wasted my money and I know I have wasted my VALUABLE TIME!

Also, my closet flooring needed some redoing after 30 years. Empire Today had a 50-50 sale and I decided to go with them. The salesman that came out here to get the contract going gave me all kinds of information in regards to the material. At first, Empire was gonna finance me through some bank. Then I decided that I was just gonna apply for a personal loan and deal with my bank instead of going through a finance company. They made the arrangements so I could pay them at the time when the installation would be finished. The people that came to install the floors were very patient. They took their time in doing the work and everything turned out fine. I’m happy with the work that Empire Today did and with the service that I received.

We had (and are still having) the worst experience we could have thought possible with Empire Today. The carpet installation itself was okay, except for the fact that it was/is incomplete. (One of the installers was good, one was sleeping in the car for half the installation. The door to our house was left open and unattended through the installation. We would close it ourselves and find the door open again. Also, there is a spot of dried glue used at the seam of two pieces of carpet where we are now bruising our heels on.) What's been most frustrating is the fact that the installation team did not have enough carpet to carpet one room, and Empire Today has handled the situation miserably -- our final bedroom is still without carpeted with nail boards exposed.
After informing us that they did not have enough carpet with them, the carpet installers said they would inform the company so that the installation for the remaining room could be scheduled. A customer service rep also called during the installation to ask about our satisfaction with the job. We told him there was a room that could not be carpeted, and he said he would make record of that in our account. The fact that the installation was incomplete was not communicated with the company by either party. When we called to schedule the final room, no one had record that the job was incomplete. The customer service representative we spoke with was disrespectful and unresponsive. She told us someone would call to schedule within 24 hours.
When we followed up the next day she insisted she meant 24 business hours. (That's not a thing. One would just say 3 business days.) After 3 business days, we still did not receive a call to schedule the final room. Finally on the fourth day, we scheduled the room with the Cleveland office. That installation was supposed to take place today. We called to check in to see when the installers would be arriving and customer service had no idea why no one had come. They said they would have the local office call us. After waiting a few hours, we called again.
Customer service had a hard time reaching the Cleveland office. After being on the phone for more than a half hour, we finally were told the person who "scheduled" our installation for today forget to put it in the system, and everyone's left for the day. They said our appointment is now scheduled for next Friday, but we'll see. We will have had an unfinished room, with nails sticking out of the floor that we have to avoid for more than two weeks. We feel disrespected and taken advantage of. Others in our family have used Empire Today for their carpet, but I believe that trend will stop with us.

They scratch up walls and doors. Also broke wallplates without full replacement. The color of the carpet was nice. However, it buckled as soon as short notice warranty was up. There are NO children running around nor do we wear shoes on carpet, After carpet was totally paid for trying to get them out to stretch carpet is worst than pulling teeth. There are real carpet choices that give real warranties like 7-10 years. Please do your homework because I didn't. It won't happen again. Empire carpet suck.

Summer 2017 I had floors put in by Empire Today. Upstairs bathroom and all of downstairs. Installers also installed toilets in upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. The downstairs toilet wasn't sealed correctly and water dripped from under the front of the toilet and seeped under the flooring, spreading throughout most of the downstairs flooring. Since it wasn't a flood, but rather a slow drip, it took time before the presence of water was evident.
Early this year we began seeing beads of water appear in between the floor panels. It evidently took months of buildup before the water reached its saturation point and was forced upward. I began calling Empire in May of this year to get someone out to take a look at the flooring and to determine if the problem originated from the toilet that Empire had installed. After playing phone tag with no results and calling call back numbers that didn't connect, I called in a plumber and a leak detection company. Both concluded independently that the leak did in fact originate from the toilet which hadn't been installed properly.
Now I was left with fixing the problem. When Empire put in my flooring all of downstairs was one continuous flow of flooring which meant that all of the flooring had to be pulled up and not just an isolated area. Not only that, since the water came from the toilet and was therefore classified as category 3 (sewer) water, anything that it touched had to come out. That meant all of the flooring, all of my kitchen cabinets that touched the floor and a two foot flood cut of the drywall in the bathroom and common laundry wall.
So now we're without a kitchen and eating fast food every day. After my downstairs was gutted, someone from Empire finally got in contact with me and scheduled a time to come out and inspect my floors. I told them the state of my house but still made an appointment for a representative from Empire to come out and inspect the affected area. They asked me why I didn't wait for them to come out and take a look at the problem. I told them that they were the first calls that I made and that for nearly a month, I couldn't get anyone from Empire who could make a decision to talk with me.
Their inspector was scheduled to come out during a morning time window. Didn't show up until very late in the afternoon, and the inspector gave me the impression that he really wanted to be somewhere else. He looked over the place, took some pictures and a video and asked me, "okay, what do you want us to do about it?" I told him that I want Empire to replace the floor since I supposedly had a great warranty and it was Empire's installer who caused the problem. I told him that I was still paying on the floors. The product was a bit expensive and I had chosen to finance the floor rather than pay cash. He told me that he didn't think that Empire would replace the floor but fill write out what I wanted them to do.
Next, he told me that he felt that the problem came from a drip from the water bib for the washing machine and that was what he was going to report as the cause of the problem. He was in and out in all of fifteen to twenty minutes. Next I emailed the report from the leak detection company along with pictures showing the partially sealed wax ring at the toilet connection and the plumber's report. It was reportedly sent to the decision makers and my request was subsequently denied. The reasoning came down to the visual fifteen minute inspection of their employee whose time I was intruding on.
In a nutshell, I shopped for floors from several companies and although Empire's product was a bit more expensive than the competitors, decided to go with them because the product did seem good. They also could get going on the project faster than the other companies and Empire offered good financing rates and (on paper) a good warranty. But once that warranty had to be enacted upon, Empire dropped the ball. Empire caused a problem that they refused to fix. All that I am asking Empire Today to do for me is replace the floors that I am still paying for that had to be ripped out because of their negligence. Now it looks like I have to get lawyers involved which is never a good option for any of the parties involved.

I was going to use another flooring company but Empire Today said they could do it quicker. They put in the wood flooring in the living room on a day that was pouring rain. So naturally the floor warped. Called them about it and it took them a year to come out and look at it. Two different people came out and said they would replace the flooring. That was over 2 months ago. No one has showed up or called since then. Guess I will have to get a more reputable company and pay another $2000.00.
They also did the kitchen in tile. Some of the ugliest stuff you can imagine. The installers were supposed to install it but their truck broke down so they couldn't make it until the next day. They had the tile in their truck and it froze overnight. Could not lay it that day and would have to come back in 2 days after the tile thawed. Finally showed and laid the tile. Of course it wasn't laid straight and the baseboard was left off. I'm still waiting to hear from them so I can put my kitchen back together.

I didn't wanna make my decision that day though but he told me that if I didn't buy from him, he would not be the person that would have the sale, it would be someone else. They shouldn't push people that way. But in the end, I was very happy that I had done it. I liked the carpet and the price was not too bad. I got the low plush carpet. The previous carpet that I had gotten through Home Depot about 17 years before was wool and it wore well but I was never happy with the way it was installed. It was sloppy. On the other hand, Empire did a beautiful job and I was impressed with the installation. The installers were excellent and the carpet looked better than it ever did.

However, the sample was just a little 4 x 4 square and when they put a 13 x 30 in our master bedroom, it looked a little different but still it was fine.

I picked Empire Today because I was very satisfied when they installed the rugs in my house 1 year and 10 months ago. My experience this time around was very disturbing. I was going to put LVT in the basement which is a finish basement with kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom on June 09, 2018 and Empire called me and stated they did not have the materials, so I had to reschedule. My husband did not go to his bible studies because he was home waiting and I had to work. Appointment scheduled for following Saturday 6/16/18. That Saturday when the installers came the lead guy stated he could not installer the LVT because he could not lift up the tiles on the because they had asbestos. No floor done that day.
I called the sales gentleman and during the week he came and I picked a different floor. I picked the LVP. A little more expensive but okay. They could not lift the tiles. That was scheduled to be installed Saturday June 23rd, my husband once again stayed home from his bible studies, and when I called customer service to find out at what time they were coming, they stated I was not confirmed. I received a text message stating I was confirmed. I was told I was on the schedule but not confirmed. The manager confirmed me for the 27th. I was working and my husband took off of work to wait for the installers. The installers did what they had to do in the basement. My husband calls me and tells me they took off the tiles that the prior installer stated had asbestos.
When I got home, I asked the installer, was he not informed that the tiles he lifted had asbestos. The response I got from him was "it was not asbestos, he probably just did not want to do the job." I called customer service. Reported what happened and my concerns. I was told that a manager will call me because they were going to have an inspector come out to see if it was asbestos. No phone call or inspector. I called the manager and she was upset about the situation was going to go higher up. Here we are 4 weeks later, no inspector and no solution. I am so upset because if it was asbestos myself and family have been exposed and if it wasn't and I pray to God it wasn't asbestos, the installer made me put down a floor I did not want and was more expensive. I am going to call an inspector myself to make sure if it was or was not asbestos.
Judith, this is not the experience that we wish for our customers. We'll be reviewing your concerns, and will be following up with you shortly.

I wanted to replace part of the flooring in my one bedroom condo. I thought about using the same flooring company that I had used many years ago in my previous condo, but I thought to try something new and not box myself in to the same vendor. I am a California transplant from Chicago and had grown up listening to both radio & television advertisement for Empire Flooring now named Empire Today. I had always been curious about them, so when I went online to HomeAdvisor.com, filled out their survey and up popped Empire Today amongst other recommendations, I decided to give them a try, which turned out to be a big mistake.
The salesperson within a very short turn-around time came to my home, came inside and I showed that person the scope of work. Salesperson then went back to car to get samples, brought the samples in and we began to go through the process of picking out flooring. The first question I asked was if the baseboard would need to be removed, because I was hoping this was not the case. The reply was no, they just add quarter round, to which I was relieved. It was then recommended to me which flooring to go with based on the lighter color scheme which I preferred.
When I saw the flooring samples I told the salesperson that my existing flooring was thicker than what I was being shown. The salesperson then replied that this was only a sample I was looking at; that the actual flooring would have backing and be thicker. I was told that this flooring was a big seller and that the same flooring, 3,000 sf was just sold to another home in my area. I trusted this information and went with the recommendation, processed the paperwork and signed the contract.
I had placed a Security Freeze on my Credit Report to protect my identity so I had to call the main Credit Reporting Agency and have the freeze lifted then call the company financing the deal to let them know they could check my credit report. Once that was done I had to call the Credit Reporting Agency back and have them re-freeze it for my protection. This was all on Monday July 16th. They scheduled the installation for Saturday July 21st. Tuesday through Friday I brought boxes home from work & packed up everything that needed to be moved out for the installation. Friday night my boyfriend moved all of the packed boxes and furniture that could be moved out to the garage, completely filling up the garage.
Inside my condo it looked as if I were moving out; the place was empty except for bare necessities such as bed, sofa, etc. I bought bottled water for the installers since the weather was hot. My goal was to make their job as smooth and easy as possible. Saturday morning they show up with the flooring and the backing. The flooring was as thin as the sample was that the salesperson told me would be thicker. The backing was thinner than the flooring. The installers came in and started pacing the floor and I could tell something was wrong. They told me that the flooring would not work in my situation.
To test fit the new flooring against the existing flooring I had them remove a couple of pieces of baseboard from the smaller closet, pull out a piece of existing flooring and a small piece of the underlayment. The thickness of my existing flooring is ½” & the underlayment is ¼” totaling ¾”. The new flooring combined with the underlayment was a total of about 3/16”. When placed on the bare floor there was a huge gap between the new floor & the baseboard. They told me that if I wanted that flooring, that all of the baseboard would have to be removed and put back lower to meet the lower height of the flooring, because even the quarter round would not even cover the size of the gap and even if it did, it would not a good idea to install this material because there would be a huge space for air, etc to get in.
To add to this problem, the quote did not even include removal and replacement of the baseboard because the salesperson said it would not be necessary. The installers and I agreed that this was not the correct flooring to use. I told them I was very unhappy with this. I called the salesperson and left a message. (I was later told after calling the salesperson and leaving several messages, that the salespeople do not return their phone calls). The installer told me that this is not the first time this type of thing has happened with flooring. The installer then called his installation manager and explained what happened; the installation manager suggested another flooring. We arrived at a specification and color selection. The installers left without being able to do the job since they did not have the correct flooring.
The lead installer told me that he would confirm that the revised selected flooring was in the warehouse, have it reserved & re-scheduled for Monday July 23rd, because they were closed on Sunday. I was told that the revised flooring was more expensive to which I responded that they should be honoring their original quote regardless of which flooring I chose, due to the inconvenience they caused me. The installer called me back 8 pm Saturday night to say the flooring was revised, confirmed in the warehouse, reserved and re-scheduled for Monday July 23rd. He said he was not sure if he would be the installer for the job, but that it was re-scheduled.
We then had to bring the TV back inside and re-connect it so that we could watch it and other than that, everything remained in the garage. I arranged to take Monday and Tuesday July 23rd & 24th off as vacation days, hoping, thinking, trusting and trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that they would complete the installation Monday and I would put my house back together Tuesday. Monday July 23rd, no phone call, no text, no email, no show. I called the salesperson again and this time got an out of town until August 1st voice message. I called customer service again and as usual was put on hold for about 10 minutes.
Once I was connected I explained the whole thing, stating that the process they follow is the opposite of what it should be: a project should be field verified first, then the product specified and ordered; that the salesperson knew nothing about the flooring that was being sold. I was told in an impolite manner that it is not their policy to send an installer with a salesperson, or to send a field verifier first. I told customer service that this should be their policy. I asked to speak to an installation manager & was told that I would be called back. No one called me so I had to keep calling customer service, each time being put on hold. With each frustrating call I was asked to stay on the line to answer a 2 question survey. I started out doing that and then got so frustrated I hung up the phone without taking the survey.
I kept calling and got a customer service person that seemed to listen; I told them that the salesperson was out of town. They looked up my order and said that the flooring specification still showed the original flooring, the order was not revised with the corrected flooring and it was not scheduled for Monday. She put me in touch with a back-up salesperson saying they would correct everything and schedule the installation for Tuesday the 24th. I spoke to the backup salesperson who said it was all set for Tuesday the 24th. I received both text messages and emails saying it was scheduled for Tuesday the 24th. At this point I told everyone I spoke to that I would cancel the order and contract if the floors were not installed on Tuesday.
Tuesday I am awaiting the phone call from the installer to tell me they are in the area, when I receive a phone call from the installation manager telling me that the job was not ever scheduled for Tuesday, that the order still showed the original not the revised flooring and that they did not actually have the revised flooring in the warehouse; that this is a product in high demand, that they ran out of stock a while ago and in fact do not even have an ETA as to when they will receive more. I told the install manager that I had emails & text messages saying it was scheduled for Tuesday and that I was told by the back-up salesperson that everything was revised. The installation manager then told me that this probably happened in error because, and I quote: “a button was pushed on the computer.” I told this person that if the floors did not go in today that this was it.
The manager took about 4 hours to reply back to me with a flooring that they did have and that they may be able to schedule for Wednesday July 25th – today. I said, "No. I am canceling the order." I then had to call their customer service retention department and cancel the order and then had to call the financing corporation that the transaction went through, tell them what happened and close that account.
After this I had to start from scratch. I contacted the same flooring company (tried and true) that I had used before, went to their showroom with a piece of my existing flooring and underlayment, explained what happened, took samples home, made a decision, brought the samples back. They came to my home and verified measurements and sf. I then had to repeat the same financial, product availability and schedule process with them, and now have the flooring installation scheduled with them for August 2nd maybe sooner if possible. I am still living as if I am moving out and will do so until the flooring is installed.
Empire Today, while you are on hold waiting to speak to them, has a recording stating that they have over 2 million satisfied customers and how highly they are rated with the Better Business Bureau. What a joke. How deceiving, never again. I think that they probably started out as a small reputable company but have gotten too big for their britches. No one even seems to care when talking to them. It’s very political. All they seemed to care about was taking my money and making the sale, which, in the end, they lost.
Linda, we sincerely apologized for your experience, and understand that your order has been cancelled. If you continue to have questions and/or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com.

This is the second time I have waited for a salesperson to come so I can fill out paperwork to get my carpets done. The first one reschedule because he had an issue and now the next rep is a no show. I already had a quote done but they won't let you sign and scan paperwork back to them they insist on a rep coming out again. It's not the same rep I had that originally came and did the quote. They are very high pressure and want you to sign on the dotted line the day they provide you with a quote. When I tried to call customer service about this they told me I had the national number and they can't help me transfer me to another "local" number that goes straight to voicemail. I will not be using them for my carpet. They are a fly by night at best company.

I have sent numerous photos and emails and left voicemails, I am not getting any resolution almost 4 months later. This is unacceptable. I will never use Empire again and will not recommend to anyone. All I want at this point is to get this taken care of so that I can put this awful customer service experience behind me.

I have had two separate experiences with Empire and if I were to write a review based on the first experience it would have been a 5. We had our floors installed about a year and a half ago, great experience called them back when we had damage due to a flood. HORRIBLE Experience. The Sales Rep Richard ** talked down to me the entire time only addressing my husband. Mistake 1 - Not kicking him out there for being rude. I stated I did not want Laminate in my laundry area due to the moisture and he assured me that it would be fine and that he doesn't think they could do what I wanted so I let him talk me out of it.
Mistake 2. I showed him a concern we had regarding our crawl space access which he said he would let the installers know (they knew nothing of it when they came in and tried to nail it shut but that's another review). So cue 2 months later so far 2 times of people coming out to fix our floors which are now buckling around the dryer because SUPRISE... MOISTURE. I wrote a review on FB finally got a call to send someone out to fix it.
Now their fix was REINSTALLING THE LAMINATE UNDER THE DRYER. I say no that isn't a fix so they are going to send a sales guy out for a material selection. I tell them square do not send the same guy and gave his name. 1 day later. You bet the same sales rep comes to my house. He walks in with a chip on his shoulder asking what is wrong. I show him (admittedly now I am VERY agitated so maybe not the most pleasant person to deal with). I tell him the whole moisture thing and if he remembered when he came and told me the laminate would be "fine" under there but it is NOT due to moisture. He asked me "what's leaking?"
At this point obviously he is not listening to me so I had to ask him his experience with a dryer. They are hot items that use heat to dry wet clothes causing humidity. So he starts to walk away saying I have "been on him since he walked in the door." So I begin to ask if he doesn't understand why I am upset and he interrupts me with an "Oh, you're not done yet." To which he got flat kicked out of my house. Called back to customer service to complain. I got told a SALES MANAGER would call me today to reschedule. Sure enough the same guy who called Monday and Sent Rich back out called me to schedule. NO SALES MANAGER.
Nicole, we're disappointed to hear that your concerns have not been addressed. We'll continue to follow up until a solution is reached.

This isn't the first time I dealt with Empire. I have Venetian blinds on 12 windows and Empire had put them on. Now on this recent excursion they had five windows done. I did the living room and the kitchen. I liked their material and I'm a skilled tradesman. I know workmanship and I'm dealing with good products. When I buy something, I don't wanna have to go back and adjust. I want it installed and done.
I had a break in and they messed up one of my blinds in the bathroom. I put it back together and I missed a part. The installer was excellent and he brought me the part and put that one back up for me. Empire has some good people working for them. We had a little thing here at Memorial Day and some BBQ sauce got on my brand new blinds. I took a piece of wet cloth and wipe on it and they came clean. They're really good quality blinds and this is the third home I've put them in. People have come and looked it. I would refer others to Empire.

A couple of years ago, I had a room done by an installer sent by Home Depot and I was unhappy with what they did. Though the room had never been used, the carpet rolled and got blazed later on. They had no responsibility and I got fed up with that. I called Empire Today and their guy was at my place the same day and put the carpet down the next morning. The installers were fine except they went a little too fast. I was just amazed at how quickly they were done. We had glued down carpeting there before and they scraped the whole room. They even moved furniture for me. But, when I went to clean up, I saw where they had buped baseboards and in one spot, a little piece broke. Still, that wasn't a big deal as I could glue it back. The carpet looks good and I'm perfectly satisfied. I'm going to do my living room and dining room soon and I intend to call Empire Today again.

On November 1, 2017, we signed a contract to purchase/install laminate floors in our home through Empire Today. They scheduled the installation team to come on December 13, 2017 at 7am. We removed all of our furniture and pulled the carpet from the house in preparation. I took off work because someone needed to be present while the installers were here. No one showed or called and I missed a day of work. Additionally, we had to stay in a hotel because we had no bed to lie on. I called Empire and they stated they would credit me for my missed day of work and reschedule the install.
A few days later, they called and rescheduled the installation to commence at 7am. By 9am, the installers still had not shown. I called the 800 number to find out what was going on, since I took another day off work. They said they were stuck in traffic since they had to travel from Orlando to our home in Jacksonville. They do not use their own installers, they contract it out to the cheapest bidder. Finally they arrived around 11am and started working. Each day they came, they showed up late and worked late into the evening. Upon completion of the installation, we were initially pleased with the results.
A couple of weeks later, we noticed the floors were buckling in numerous areas of the house. I called Empire and they assigned a warranty claim number. They sent an installer to the house to repair the buckled areas. He stated that the floors were not installed properly and this would continue to be an issue. He even offered us his personal cell number because he knew we would need further repair down the road.
Well he was right. In early March, the floors were buckling again. I called Empire to file another claim. I insisted they send someone out to look at the floors. A month later, they finally had the original salesman come and we showed him all the issues. He stated how weird it was and it was not supposed to do that. He ordered extra boxes of the flooring and send out a repair installer for our SECOND round of repairs.
Here we are in July, and guess what... we are having MAJOR issues with the floors buckling AGAIN. I had an installer from another company come inspect and he told us the floors under the laminate were not properly prepared or leveled before the floors were laid, and the only remedy is to start over from scratch, which would cost us more than our initial installation! I called Empire on July 20th and they said someone would call me back in 24 hours. No one called. I called back today, July 24th and they said my ticket is pending with a "resolution specialist". The customer service rep tried calling her but got her voicemail. She said I need to wait for her to return my call.
I am extremely frustrated because we paid a lot of money for these floors, I've lost wages, the customer service is worthless, and I'm left with floors that look like a four year old installed. They said they would credit me for my missed days of work, but never did. It is my opinion that Empire is stalling so that my 1 year warranty will expire so they don't have to warranty their shoddy installation job. I pray Empire Today stands behind their product and services and rights this wrong once and for all. If not, we are prepared to take legal action because it's cheaper for us to hire a lawyer than to purchase new floors again.
Megan, thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We'll be in touch with you shortly to discuss your concerns, thank you.

Next date was Tuesday 7/24 as they do not work on Monday so I asked to be first call. Service person said, "Yes." Excuse was installer had an emergency. Well Tuesday comes at 10am. Again service person calls to cancel. I explain to her this was unacceptable and I needed someone there today. She said they had no others installer available as they were contracted to do others already. "Ok. Can I speak to a supervisor?" She says, "He is on another call. Can he call back." "Ok have him call me by 10:30am." By 11am no call back. So I called back and got an answering machine stating someone has 24 hours to call back.
I left my message by 11:30am. I called customer service to complain and see if they could move this along. Their reply was, "No. All others are on other scheduled jobs." "Ok can I speak to a supervisor?" A supervisor named Maria gets on and says same response. "Well how about pulling from another job and send them here as I have been inconvenienced." "No. We can not do that." "Well what is the solution?" Her answer was, "You have to wait until someone calls you back." "So I am to be shoved aside so no one cares," was my response.
I waited 5 days already. Does anyone care? Obviously not. It is now 2:11pm and no one has called including anyone from corporate. I have no information, nowhere to contact and the supervisor (Maria) gave me the same number that has an answering machine I originally called when I asked her for her direct line in case we got disconnected. First of all Empire is not done installing the flooring in my house yet. Second issue the sales rep. did not discuss with me about how the financing worked, I thought I would just get billed and make the payments, but oh no I received a Wells Fargo credit card in the mail yesterday which I had no notice of. This is what I am supposed to use to pay for his service. If I were told about this I would have just used my credit card and paid it off after installation.
Third issue I called Empire's customer service line yesterday about the flooring that was installed in my hallway. It's not level. I checked it myself and I am not a lay person. I could tell as I walked on it that's why I checked, everything else seems fine. Fourth issue Empire made an appointment with me last week to install the remaining flooring and carpet today 7/24/18 so I took the day off of work. Empire rep. calls me at about 8-8:30 am to tell me that the material has not arrive yet and they don't know when it will arrive. I must be cursed. Seem like every time I hire a contractor to do work I get screwed. I knew I should have just done it myself. I am very dissatisfied. HELP!!

I liked the carpet that I picked better than the rest of the ones that they had. The sales representative was very efficient. The installation was shaky for a while and there was a little dilemma, but then that was resolved. We had opened up a wall to make a walk-in closet for one bedroom and we had bought some units from IKEA that we had partially put together. The units are tall and the installers didn't know how they were going to move these units in order to put the carpet down. But they got this figured out and I was satisfied that everything got done in a timely fashion with the time constraints I had, and I was happy with the time that it took them to do the work and complete it. Then there were a couple of hiccups because the head of the crew got sick and he even went into the hospital for that night after he finished working. So he couldn't come the next day and then the crew was gonna come back on Wednesday, but they didn't get here until Friday. That was the only thing I was a little disappointed in because they put the refrigerator, stove, and everything in the dining room and the place was torn up from that Monday night to Thursday. I went with Empire, listened to the rep explaining to me, and then I picked out the carpet I wanted at that time. But I made a mistake on the kind of carpet I chose 'cause I didn't go into a lot more samples than I did since I didn't wanna get confused as I just wanted a similar one to what I had, but only lesser footprints.
When their guys came with the carpet, they told me to go and look at it to make sure it was the one I wanted. They took me out to the truck to look at it and I said, "I don't know if I want that or not." So, they took the carpet back and the guy came back out in a very short period of time to put the other carpet down. He was very nice about it. He probably didn't like making another trip out here, but he didn't give me any static at all, and it turned out okay.
I was very happy with the way the people at Empire conducted it. The guys that came out here and laid the carpet were very good and efficient. I wanted a normal, not high-end carpet, so I went with the mediocre. I just had to get the right color, which I did and I'm happy with it. The carpet that I got shows little footprints and it's not as bad as the one that I had before. Empire Today is a big company and has been here for quite a long time. I had tile installed in my bathroom near the end of June 2018. When I was able to walk on the floor and inspect it 2 days later, I noticed that the floor was uneven and the grout job was horrible. Three men came out and looked at the floor and stated that they could maybe redo the grout. I eventually spoke to the General Manager in Sacramento and he came out. He stated that the tile job was not the worst he had ever seen but it was not a good job. We scheduled an appointment with him to have it redone on July 19th and 20th.
When I called Customer Service on the 18th, I was told that nothing had been scheduled. I have been unable to reach the General Manager (no return calls) or the Customer Service REP (no return calls). They took my money and did a poor quality job and will not fix it. I am very disappointed in this company and would never use it again or recommend it to anyone. I feel that this company is very dishonest and lacks decent customer service skills.

The install guys did a great job on laminate in our home. However, we had 8 extra boxes of laminate left over. Requested credit for material from our price paid. We were told by cust svc we didn’t pay for extra 8 boxes. I am sure we did, it is factored in price we paid which I thought was priced too much. And what about labor I probably paid in our price for installing those 8 boxes if they were needed. Next day we were having carpet installed also different installers who somewhat quit company that I was scheduled with. No phone call from cust svc, I called a few hours later and was told to be rescheduled for another date. Wasted my day.
Another crew came next day and did great job. Their install manager removed padding from my carpet order which we did want and then wanted to charge me extra for glue. Confused my install guys and me. I hope Empire will make good on refunding me some amount off our balance of job for padding and 8 extra boxes of same color laminate. Overpaid. I have used Empire in past homes in N.Y. and Florida and never had an issue and got a fair price.

I contacted Empire Today to install laminate flooring in three bedrooms in my home. I initially had carpet that I wanted to be removed. Based on their commercial and their recordings when you call the company, they insured customer satisfaction. I found the staffs that I have corresponded with by phone were very inconsiderate, confrontational, and has no regard for their customers.
For about two months now, I have been trying to get Empire Today to send someone back to correct my floors. They left a huge gap behind two of my bedroom doors and one of the planks in the other bedroom is not even with the others. Someone can easily trip if the person is not watchful. I have called to set appointments after appointment. Each time no one from the company showed up. I was not even given a call to let me know they were not coming. This has been going on for I know two months, and as of today July 18 on an appointment day, set by a supervisor, they did not show up or call.
Today July 18, 2018 is a scheduled appointment that was made over a week ago by a “supervisor.” I waited for someone to show up or a call because I was assured by a staff that someone will call me when they are on their way. Just a courtesy call for assurance. Their appointments are set from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. After waiting for some hours, I decided to give them a call to confirmed they were still coming; just to be faced with another disappointment. After going over and over with a customer service staff about not showing up or calling, I was only told there is nothing they can do but set yet another appointment. Like in the past I asked to speak with a supervisor, but even that is like pulling a wisdom tooth. When I finally got a supervisor (so I was told) on the phone I hear the same accuse "I call you, but I still can't send anyone until???" Whatever day they choose to say.
After dealing with this so long, I decided to record our conversations. They are not a very truthful company nor reliable. The supervisor I spoke with was very rude. I had to set yet another appointment because he said they don't have the materials to finish the job from around two months ago. All I am asking for Empire Today to complete a job that I have already paid. I feel/know base on my experience with the company, Empire Today cannot be trusted. They have no conscience in mistreating their consumers. They are not reliable. I suggest to anyone who uses the company to be very careful of their underhanded ways.

I used Empire 20 years ago and was very pleased with both the price, quality and installation. Because of that experience I very recently contacted them to get an estimate to flooring for my whole house. I did not make a commitment because I'm a shopper and like to get estimates from several sources. During my meeting with the Empire rep that measured for me and while giving me prices, I commented that I wasn't sure of the cost. The rep told me that I could possibly finance a portion and suggested that we find out if I would qualify.
I agreed on the condition that we were just checking and were NOT opening an account. To my horror I was notified by one of the credit bureaus today that I have a new account and that account has quite a large balance. I have not ordered, nor received any flooring from Empire and based on this I will never use them again. I have filed a dispute with the credit bureau and hope to get this account removed before it's reflecting that I've missed payments and affecting my credit score. This is crap.

We had our carpet replaced by Empire Flooring about 4 years ago. We bought the top of the line carpet and the representative, who is still with Empire, said that the carpet would last longer than we would (we're in our 60's). After 2 years, we had a person from Empire come out to look at the way the carpet wore (it looked awful). He said that it could all be remedied with a heat-extracted method. We did that and it didn't look any better so we replaced it with tile after only 4 years since the installation of the, so called, top notch carpet. We will not be recommending or using Empire again!

We purchased 3 types of flooring from Empire Today almost 2 years ago. With 2 of the products, we are generally satisfied. However, with the hardwood, we are totally unsatisfied. A few months after installation, we experienced splinters in several places. The worst part of the experience has been dealing with the customer service department to get this issue resolved. They have taken us through different stages, yet the problem remains unresolved. In trying to work with Empire to resolve this issue, we’ve had to: send them pictures; schedule a meeting with a “manager” who came out to do an inspection (he actually suggested that we use a color marker to resolve the issue! ); undergo another inspection by an independent consultant; wait for Empire to decide that they needed to fix the problem and try to get them to honor their word. This has been a total disaster.
Customer service reps will not call back after promising to get back with us by a certain date. When we did talk to someone, they set up two separate appointments to come out and make repairs. However, no one from Empire showed up for either appointment! We’ve spoken specifically with Judy (customer rep.) and Michelle (customer service mgr.), but still no success in getting this problem resolved. We are totally disgusted with Empire Today. I had carpeting installed by Empire Today and I was supposed to have some more flooring installed. The first go-around was fine. But the second time they were to come back, I had a water leak while on vacation. I had all the hardwoods floored up and they had finishing nails left. The salesperson knew that. Reservations were made for them to come on a Saturday to finish taking up the nails and putting the flooring down. The guy got here and he said he couldn't take all those nails up because he was told it has a floating floor and it was not a floating floor. He said that if they have to do this, there was gonna be an extra charge for it. I told him to call his supervisor and he did but the guy wouldn't call and text him back. We stood and looked at each other for two hours and he did nothing.
I contacted the salesperson and a couple of minutes later, he said that it was good to go and that the guy should be starting and that I should be getting a phone call. I never got a phone call from anybody until someone from Empire called me. And about 20 minutes into the conversation, I had enough. I told her I signed the contract for this flooring to be put down. I had already given them money and I expected that to be done that day. My person said the guy should be doing it but he was not doing it until he heard from his person. She said all they could do is reschedule which I said no to. I had changed my plans that day for them to come and do it.
I asked to speak to the manager and he gave me the same runaround. I told the the manager the contract says for the flooring to be taken up and for new flooring to be put down and he said it was a subflooring. The contract states flooring. I couldn't help that the person who put it down was subcontracted through Empire. That was not my problem. My contract says this flooring is gonna be put down that day and that was what I expected. If not, I was gonna cancel and I wanted all my money back. I was not nice about it at all. I had lost it by the end. They said they couldn't put it down that day so I said I expected my money back and would send the guy home.
They drove two hours to get the flooring and another hour to get here and by then, it was going on 5:00 or 6:00. That was not a good experience and I wouldn’t do it again. I sent an email to somebody but nobody has responded to that nor has the salesperson contacted me since then to even say, “How did it go or what happened?” Also, I wish that when I moved in the house and had all the flooring done, I hadn't gone to them because I would've saved a lot of money. I originally had the Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) installation scheduled 2 weeks ago, which is when the installers started, and the job was just finished yesterday. The original installers started the job and determined they needed t-molding to finish the job. So, for 2 weeks my hours was left in disarray -the toilet was disassembled and left is the shower, supplies everywhere, air registers detached and not reinstalled, etc. The workmanship was not good as there were gaps left next to cabinets and t-moulding used in the middle of an open area, which should have been continuous flooring.
For 2 weeks, I tried to confirm an installation completion date with Empire. The customer service was horrible - they promised call backs and never followed through and even scheduled an appointment and no one showed up! It took 2 more scheduled appointments to finish the job. When the 2nd installer added the 3/4” round moulding that matched the floor color, the ends that were cut are white - and they stick out like a sore thumb! Terrible look - see photo attached. The installer left a gash in our closet door (photo attached). All in all it was a nightmare of an experience. I am one dissatisfied customer!!

My wife and I wanted to have hardwood flooring installed in our dining room and master bedroom. We scheduled an appointment with Empire. The sales rep arrived late, but quickly got down to business. The first cost estimate was for $10,500, which alarmed me. I said it was outside my budget. The sales rep asked what my budget was and I said $6,500. She quickly said "Well you are in luck... We can do it for $6,300." I felt ripped off after that, but felt it was a good price based on my research. The sales rep told me the install would take one day, and was scheduled for a Friday. I later received an email saying the team would arrive between 0800-1600.
The morning of the install I received a phone call at 0810 from an automated service saying the install team would arrive between 0915-1015. I figured I had time to drop my daughter off at swim team practice which was just a 5 minute round trip. As I was about to leave at 0815, I get a knock at the door. The install team arrived. The individual at the door said his team didn't show up this morning, so it was just him. He would not be able to finish the job in one and would need to reschedule or add another day (Saturday or Monday). This frustrated me because I already took a day off work to be here for the install and I had plans on Saturday and Monday. I felt like I had no choice at this point, so allowed him to start the work today and said to plan for Saturday to finish it.
I then called Empire customer service. I was on hold for over an hour. At 0930 I spoke with a human about the situation. They said they would contact the install manager and the install manager would get back to me in 20 minutes. At 1230 I called customer service again. I was on hold for an hour. They apologized, and said they would contact the install manager, and the install manager would contact me before the end of the day. At 4:30 I called customer service and was on hold for 45 minutes. They apologized, and said they left messages for the install manager to call me as soon as possible. I didn't hear from anyone the rest of the day.
The next day the installer arrived at 0815 and continued work. I called Empire customer service. After being on hold for 30 minutes, the service desk said the install manager doesn't work on weekends, and would call me within 1 business day. Since I called on a Friday, the next business day would be Tuesday. As of today, Monday, 10 days after the initial call, I haven't heard at all from Empire. I filled out the customer survey saying I was dissatisfied and indicated I wanted to speak with someone from Empire about my experience. Still haven't heard back.
The installer did a GREAT job on the install. The floor looks fantastic, and I'm very happy with the professionalism of the installer. However I am completely dissatisfied and disappointed with the overall experience from Empire and the poor customer service. They claim to strive for World Class customer support. They fall way short.

On May 15th, 2018, two installers arrived at my home to install vinyl tile in my kitchen and hallway bathroom. As the work was being done I asked one of the installers should my flooring have what appeared to be spots - color defects in it. His response, "Yes this is the way it should look." I did not think it should look this way. After the installers left I really looked at the tile and noticed how poorly it looked. The tile look nothing like I expected. It has a dull look - with spots -discoloration throughout! I tried to clean by wiping the spots with water then cleaning with Bona Tile cleaner but nothing changed. I have called Empire weekly - talking to customer service resulting in no assistance with my flooring.
Each time I was told the representative was sending an email to someone who would contact me within 24-48 hours to discuss my complaint which never happened. I was so frustrated I called the salesperson who I met with initially and was told Empire has had several complaints recently about the flooring. I was encouraged to contact Biana ** I called Biana ** and she was no help either. My last conversation with her was Empire can come to install Laminate Flooring that I requested as a correction but it will be at an additional cost to me! I could not believe what I was hearing. Empire already charging me 2400.00 for flooring that clearly has defects in it and if I want it corrected I must pay more money. I am not happy at all. I am receiving no assistance from Empire. I refuse to pay for it. I am so disappointed. Every day I am looking at a mess on my floors. I will never use or suggest Empire again!
Updated on 07/10/2018: Today 7-10-18, I received a phone call from Empire Representative Tanzanine **. She indicated she wanted to discuss my concerns involving the tile recently installed in my kitchen and bathroom. I explained once again my concerns. Once again I was informed Laminate flooring can be installed but at a Discount Price to me. So again I am being told if I want something different installed I am going to have to pay more money. This is not something I am willing to do or think I should have to do. I have to pay more money to correct a problem that is clearly an Empire Today problem. I was informed again that what I am seeing is what the tile should look like. I do not agree! Again my issue is not being resolved. Consumers beware of Empire Today. I will never use them again. Again I am not satisfied with the outcome of my phone contact today!

Don't buy these overpriced blinds. The paperwork I signed said lifetime warranty. I got blinds in 2010. I called in November 2017. Diane at customer care told me they were covered for life. She sent someone out in December to make the repairs. They did a ** job fixing them. What I mean by that is they just repaired 2 of the 3 strings. I called back in January 2018 the 3rd string broke. I was told the guy who would repair them quit and they were hoping to have someone start in March. Then I would be on top of the list to get fixed. I called back in June and was told I needed to open a new claim. I get another call back from Diane and now being told it will cost me $65 because they now use a third party to do the repairs. I wasn't happy with that so she sent it to the office. They now say they are only covered for 7 years and now I'm out of warranty. Empire you not only lost my personal business but you also lost my commercial business account.

This is the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered and I will never use Empire again (having used them twice before with satisfaction.) Ordered $14K of new flooring -vinyl plank and carpet for entire rental property. Was told it would be installed on Friday (hard plank) and Saturday (carpet). The installers arrived on Friday and worked for 10 hours - looks great however, they were missing the connecting “cove” so there is a gap between flooring and kitchen cabinets. He told me to call the 800 # to handle getting it finished. On Saturday carpet guys arrive to do half the job as they say it is too much for one day (although my salesman assured me it would take one day.)
Installer tells me he will return on Monday morning to complete. He does not. I call him and he tells me I have to call 800 #. After waiting for 46 minutes on hold for a customer service rep, I am told they are unsure when they can finish. I have already had to postpone renters for a day and now it will be more. So I lose that income ($850) and no one will get back to me. My only resource is an 800 number. I will never use them again! The customer service is atrocious and the “next day” installation is a lie! For the considerable cost and purchase, I would have expected at least a human contact person who could handle my issues not an incompetent 800 number system that I must continually call and still has not solved my rather large problem!

I had carpeting installed by Empire Today in my family room and two bedrooms. The carpet has been here for eight years and I liked that they were multicolored and it blended in so I didn’t have to paint. The salesgirl did an excellent job and I was impressed with her. She was patient and called me on the phone. I felt comfortable and I called her back. She came back out again, brought me the sample again, and told me to hold on to it, put it down on the floor and see how I liked it. Then she offered me a little discount. She told me I could call the company and see if they would bargain with me and if they had any other specials. A week or two later, I called and asked if they could lower it another $100 and they said yes.
I was kind of surprised with the ones that came out to put it because they were two guys. One was an older gentleman and they were kinda petite. They were not big strong guys and I was fearful of them hurting themselves. But they did a good job. But I had some stripping put down on the old ones and they took those up and they put it down but they missed a couple of the tacks. I didn’t know because it blends in with the carpet where it was laying. I head on the house without slippers and I felt something on my foot and it was one of the little tacks that nail down the stripping. Then I went along the hallway and I felt a couple more. I told Empire that the stripping wasn’t put down solid and I’ve been finding some tacks.
I got the vacuum and cleaned out. But they said they’ll come out and have the guy tack it back down. I thought it was gonna be the same guy but it was someone different but he was nice. He came on the house and went through all over where the stripping was. And he felt it and made sure. I have picked up about four of them and he put them back. Also, I bought an electrical recliner and it had a shortage in it. It burnt my carpet and Empire is taking care of that. There was a little round spot about the size of a 50 cent. It didn’t do any damage but right there where the wire was touching. Other than that, I’ve recommended Empire. My neighbors asked and they know. They saw the truck and I told them I was really pleased. One of them was thinking about moving and they’re gonna try to fix the house up, put carpet, and try to sell it.

I had to upgrade my flooring because of Hurricane Harvey. Three other companies came out and gave me bids but I chose to go with Empire Today because I like their warranty and products. Plus their guy came to us. I had some vinyl flooring and some carpets installed, with the vinyl flooring being installed in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room and the carpet being installed in the bedrooms and living room. The installation of the vinyl flooring was up and down because in the middle of that, we had an ice storm. The guy also said that the products for my house got in an accident coming from Dallas so they had to work around that.
Also, we had a dispute because they said I needed the 1/4-inch laminate, although I put down 1/2-inch on top of the old floor. And in the bathroom and the larger room, the guy didn’t use the 1/4-inch laminate. It was an experience trying to get that resolved because I kept getting the runaround. I talked to one person and he said he got to talk to another person so it was really a hassle on that. Even so, the flooring has met my expectations. The carpet went flawless and the installers were in and out in less than six hours.

I booked Empire Today to tile a small storage entrance/storage room. I moved everything out the night before they were scheduled and in the morning received an automated call that they were on the way. But no one ever showed up. Every time I called they told me they couldn't get in touch with my installer. Then they said he had come into work late but was on his way. At 4pm I called again and asked to cancel and asked for confirmation I would get a full refund. The service rep said she would process the cancellation request but that only the cancellation team could decide if they would give a refund and she wasn't authorized to transfer me to them until after processing my cancellation (that's ridiculous).
I asked for a supervisor who apologized, said they would absolutely refund in full but offered me a financial consideration to reschedule and I stupidly agreed. One week later and the exact same thing. Only now I have had to pack and unpack and pack this room twice so I insist they come first thing the next morning to do my job; I am told they will write a ticket and a manager will call me within 24 hours (which would then be the weekend). So I request a supervisor and they hang up on me after 45 minutes of holding for a supervisor. And guess what? Then they don't answer phone- maybe closed for the day? So the next morning I get an email that they will come a WEEK later. I call again and again they refuse to help me and say they just don't have any room to schedule new jobs. NOT A NEW JOB. I am disgusted and really upset. I lost a lot of time packing and unpacking the room - and I still don't have tile (Ceramics).

We were scheduled to get our bathroom floors redone in Luxury Vinyl Plank. We decided we were gonna change out the toilets at the same time since they had to be removed anyway for the new flooring. We rented a trailer ($58) to remove the old toilets so that they could be taken to the dump. My son in law took time off work to be there to help my husband with the dump run etc. We were suppose to go a family member’s graduation but decided we better not commit since we weren't sure when the installers would be done. The day of installation we're waiting and waiting. Finally, I call to confirm everything is good. That's when I am told that they wouldn't be able to install that day - was told that the contractors didn't show up. I was offered a small credit. I was upset, but hey I realize that things can happen.
Our installation was rescheduled for the following week. So, we rent the trailer out again (another $58) the next weekend (once again my son in law takes the day off of work). Once again there was a family member graduation we were suppose to go to. We cancel and give our tickets away since we weren't sure when the installers would be finished. Again, we're waiting and waiting the morning of installation. No phone call. Finally I call to check. I am told the same exact thing – “Contractor didn't show up. We won't be doing your floors today.”
This time I am def upset. Again I am offered a credit. At this point, my husband and son in law remove and replace the toilets themselves. We can't afford to keep renting out this trailer. We reschedule for the 3rd time. This time I canceled to attend my granddaughter's dance recital. I didn't want to miss another family event. We rescheduled for a Thursday this time. I'm thinking that we may have better luck with a weekday. I'm scheduled for today, 5 Jul. My husband took the day off work and stayed home. We were all ready. We're thinking the third times a charm. I even get the email sent that tells me we're scheduled for installation on 5 Jul. I'm thinking we're good this time! (even though I received that same email before and got stood up) I'm feeling very optimistic!
I call around 9:30am. I'm disappointed to hear that an installer hasn't been assigned yet. But I'm told they have until 10:30am for this. I wait. I get a call at 10am telling me that the installer called in sick probably because of the holiday. And that it's because of the holiday etc etc etc. Well it wasn't a holiday the other two times I got stood up so that is BS. I honestly cannot believe that installation is being cancelled for the third time. I was offered additional; discounts but honestly unless its free - these discounts don't cover the hassle, stress and events that I've missed.
It pains me to have to write this review. The reason is that a few months ago, we had our entire first floor redone by Empire and everything went off pretty smoothly. We were pretty happy with our experience that time. That is the reason we decided to call them back. We're planning to get our 2nd floor totally redone next year too and was gonna go with Empire for all of it but I can't go through this again. The latest is that we're scheduled to get our bathroom floors done this coming Saturday, 7 Jul (which happens to be my daughter’s birthday). So more inconvenience and stress to look forward to. IF THEY SHOW. I mean at what point does a client become a priority? Beyond disappointed, beyond frustrated.

Sales representative stated it would be taken care of and articles in kitchen would be moved by contractor. Provided a downpayment and scheduled a date for installation.
On two separate occasions, appointments were canceled by Empire. First stating, tile purchased was not in stock. Subsequent appointment was canceled because the wrong color tile was delivered for installation. I made an inquiry to installation department to determine why I was never giving opportunity to select the available tile. No response was offered.
The third installation date, the contractor stated he’d arrive at 1 pm then 2 pm. Installer, finally arrived at 4:30 pm. Examined the floor then shared he’d be unable to install because of the floor damage despite the sales representative words to the contrary. Stated, Empire needed to give more money for the work to be performed. He called his manager. Communicated in Spanish then handed me the phone. I explained my experiences to the manager and what was negotiated by the sales representative. I shared I would report them. He responded ending with stating, “I don’t care what you do!”
I called customer service to request a refund. I was forwarded to another representative. She read the notes for the previously canceled installations. She listened to my recent experience. She offered to reduce the price but was told by her manager I should not have been offered the reduction. She subsequently told me I had 60 days to claim the reduced price. But the floor needed to be repaired prior to the installation. Floor repair was negotiated during sales. I waited nearly a month. I rearranged work schedule As an outcome, I was informed Empire was not able to perform the work originally negotiated. This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had as a consumer.

On the other hand, Empire told me not to lift a finger and that they would move all things so I went with them instead. However, that was not true. Once I was committed to them, I still had to do a lot of prep work for them.
But the installers did a good job and they were very helpful. Also, they had to do a couple of structural things for me. I had some stairways and they had to put a full nose on it. They went above and beyond and got that installed correctly. The flooring looks good as far as aesthetics. However, with the laminate floor, I can't have any water on it at all and I have to get it out quickly. Had I known that, I probably would have chosen hardwood floor versus laminate flooring.
Empire met my expectations but there was a problem with the installation day. Empire told me it was to be done in the morning, but I didn't get any phone calls until I made 20 calls showing my anger to my sales rep. I finally got a call at 3:45 and the Empire installers asked if I still wanted him to install, and I said yes. Empire Today put down a good product and I'm angry about their lack of communication and not committing to their early committed install date. I had already booked everything during the day of the installation and I had to postpone all of my other scheduled appointments and reschedule them for the next couple of days.

I chose Empire precisely because of their 'next day' installation marketing promise. However after purchasing the carpet 'next day' installation was not available. I was on a tight deadline and agreed to 'next week' instead. I rearranged my plans, took the day off work to be home for the scheduled installation day. On the DAY OF installation -- after I had canceled all my work priorities to be available, I received a call telling me my installation would be delayed ANOTHER WEEK. Customer service refused to offer any other options and simply passed my concerns off to the next 'installation specialist' without resolution. Terrible customer service.
Loretta, we know delays are inconvenient and we apologize for this matter. We'll be in touch with you soon to make things right, thank you.

Installation process is terrible. They do not have enough installers to handle their customers and do a bad job at customer service. We ordered top of the line carpet a month and a half prior to the install date. Day before we were told they might not make it for the install after we had the house all torn up to accommodate the installers. They showed up at 4:00 pm and then after ripping out all the carpet told us they didn't have enough to do the job. 5 feet short. OK now we have one room done and the other ripped apart. When are they coming back? 3 weeks!! Customer service not helpful, we paid in full to live like this for 3 weeks. Would never recommend this company to anyone.
Robert, we know delays can be frustrating and we apologize for the inconvenience. We'll be looking into your concerns, and will be in touch with you shortly.

I've always gone with Empire Today. I used them for my bedroom a while ago and I would like to get a new kitchen floor too. When I had them install a rug in the living room, they were 100% good and I was satisfied with the experience. I also like the rug and everything has been going well, even with my dogs.

My girlfriend researched all the name brands including all the good stuff and she told me she wanted Empire Today. A sales representative came out to the house and showed us all the different laminate flooring, carpet types, and textures. Empire Today had the best price so we had them install our carpet and laminate flooring. I like the laminate flooring because it was easy to install. The installers did it all within one day and everything was smooth. They came out and did the laminate flooring, and then they came out and did the carpeting. Their installation team was very friendly, respectful, quick and very professional. They got the job done. And, their reps' customer service level was satisfactory. Everything that Empire Today did was perfect and I like the product that they provided.

Empire Today installed the kitchen and utility room carpeting recently. In the beginning, the installer was not gonna put the carpeting up the side where the tile was going because it was down one step, and that was supposed to be included so there was some issue with that. He kept calling the main office. They got it resolved and he put it up. The flooring is durable and it's a lot warmer compared to what I had before.
However, I am very dissatisfied with Empire despite the good. In my first experience with them, I had my whole house carpeted and I had two guys. They came into the house and I had all the drawers moved out of the furniture. I had everything else moved and they said that the furniture was too heavy for them and they didn’t sign up for this. I don’t know what their deal was, but they were very rude. They broke two pieces of the furniture, and it's solid oak. It's hard to break solid oak, but they cracked a whole top of a dresser, the kind that you have the mirror on top of, and an end table cracked in half. At that point, I just wanted them out.

Empire Today was very good and I was very satisfied with them. I had them install tan rugs in my home. It's not the indoor/outdoor carpet and it's got good padding so I'm very pleased with it. The cost is also very good and I was very happy with it. I was able to have the whole thing financed, too.

The installers came on time. Introduced themselves and showed me the carpet and padding while still on the truck. They proceeded into my home to measure what I assume was how they needed to cut the carpet for each room. The driver then asked for payment upfront. I got hesitant because I had already paid $610 for them to do the work and I assumed the balance would be required after the work was done. They say it was in the contract to pay upfront. I told them I was going to call the company and they proceeded to walk out the front door, saying they were going to smoke a cigarette. After I got off the phone and looked outside they were gone. I missed work, my living room is full of bedroom furniture, I'm sleeping on a couch, I'm single and 62 years old.
Who or what kind of company does this? When I finally got to someone who could probably help me, he said they could reschedule for next Monday, they would take another $150 off on top of the $150 that was supposed to be taken off at the initial start up of this contract. As of right now I am extremely dissatisfied and appalled at them taking my money and trying to charge me a 15 percent cancellation fee. I went with this company because I thought they were a reputable company. I will give them another chance to rectify the problem but in all honesty, I would never use this company again or refer anyone to Empire Today.
This is not the experience that we wish for our customers, and we apologize for your experience. We'll be in touch with you soon to learn more.

I'm very happy with Empire Today. I had them install wood floors on my bedroom and hallway and the installation was done beautifully and the people were good and very polite. I love the new flooring. I like Empire's flooring better than those of other places, and their price too.

Our laminate floors and vinyl flooring in my kitchen installed by Empire were nice-looking. And I got used to the color now. There were three installers and on the day they did everything, the process went well. They did a good job and they did it fast. The flooring were fine and everything was the way I expected it. The only thing is my niece told me about Empire and they were supposed to send over a $100 gift card, but she never got it. I don't understand that and I called them a few times, and I'm not happy about it.

I had my carpet installed by Empire Today in my bedroom and on my steps. The quality was great and the brand was excellent compared to other brands. The design of the flooring is my favorite. The salesperson was so nice, very articulate, and very professional. He explained all the samples and when he bought them out, we put them on the floor and matched it very well with other items that I had to go to my bedroom and my foyer. He was excellent and that's what really sold me on because he had exactly what I wanted.
