I picked Empire Today because I was very satisfied when they installed the rugs in my house 1 year and 10 months ago. My experience this time around was very disturbing. I was going to put LVT in the basement which is a finish basement with kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom on June 09, 2018 and Empire called me and stated they did not have the materials, so I had to reschedule. My husband did not go to his bible studies because he was home waiting and I had to work. Appointment scheduled for following Saturday 6/16/18. That Saturday when the installers came the lead guy stated he could not installer the LVT because he could not lift up the tiles on the because they had asbestos. No floor done that day.

I called the sales gentleman and during the week he came and I picked a different floor. I picked the LVP. A little more expensive but okay. They could not lift the tiles. That was scheduled to be installed Saturday June 23rd, my husband once again stayed home from his bible studies, and when I called customer service to find out at what time they were coming, they stated I was not confirmed. I received a text message stating I was confirmed. I was told I was on the schedule but not confirmed. The manager confirmed me for the 27th. I was working and my husband took off of work to wait for the installers. The installers did what they had to do in the basement. My husband calls me and tells me they took off the tiles that the prior installer stated had asbestos.

When I got home, I asked the installer, was he not informed that the tiles he lifted had asbestos. The response I got from him was "it was not asbestos, he probably just did not want to do the job." I called customer service. Reported what happened and my concerns. I was told that a manager will call me because they were going to have an inspector come out to see if it was asbestos. No phone call or inspector. I called the manager and she was upset about the situation was going to go higher up. Here we are 4 weeks later, no inspector and no solution. I am so upset because if it was asbestos myself and family have been exposed and if it wasn't and I pray to God it wasn't asbestos, the installer made me put down a floor I did not want and was more expensive. I am going to call an inspector myself to make sure if it was or was not asbestos.

I wanted to replace part of the flooring in my one bedroom condo. I thought about using the same flooring company that I had used many years ago in my previous condo, but I thought to try something new and not box myself in to the same vendor. I am a California transplant from Chicago and had grown up listening to both radio & television advertisement for Empire Flooring now named Empire Today. I had always been curious about them, so when I went online to HomeAdvisor.com, filled out their survey and up popped Empire Today amongst other recommendations, I decided to give them a try, which turned out to be a big mistake.

The salesperson within a very short turn-around time came to my home, came inside and I showed that person the scope of work. Salesperson then went back to car to get samples, brought the samples in and we began to go through the process of picking out flooring. The first question I asked was if the baseboard would need to be removed, because I was hoping this was not the case. The reply was no, they just add quarter round, to which I was relieved. It was then recommended to me which flooring to go with based on the lighter color scheme which I preferred.

When I saw the flooring samples I told the salesperson that my existing flooring was thicker than what I was being shown. The salesperson then replied that this was only a sample I was looking at; that the actual flooring would have backing and be thicker. I was told that this flooring was a big seller and that the same flooring, 3,000 sf was just sold to another home in my area. I trusted this information and went with the recommendation, processed the paperwork and signed the contract.

I had placed a Security Freeze on my Credit Report to protect my identity so I had to call the main Credit Reporting Agency and have the freeze lifted then call the company financing the deal to let them know they could check my credit report. Once that was done I had to call the Credit Reporting Agency back and have them re-freeze it for my protection. This was all on Monday July 16th. They scheduled the installation for Saturday July 21st. Tuesday through Friday I brought boxes home from work & packed up everything that needed to be moved out for the installation. Friday night my boyfriend moved all of the packed boxes and furniture that could be moved out to the garage, completely filling up the garage.

Inside my condo it looked as if I were moving out; the place was empty except for bare necessities such as bed, sofa, etc. I bought bottled water for the installers since the weather was hot. My goal was to make their job as smooth and easy as possible. Saturday morning they show up with the flooring and the backing. The flooring was as thin as the sample was that the salesperson told me would be thicker. The backing was thinner than the flooring. The installers came in and started pacing the floor and I could tell something was wrong. They told me that the flooring would not work in my situation.

To test fit the new flooring against the existing flooring I had them remove a couple of pieces of baseboard from the smaller closet, pull out a piece of existing flooring and a small piece of the underlayment. The thickness of my existing flooring is ½” & the underlayment is ¼” totaling ¾”. The new flooring combined with the underlayment was a total of about 3/16”. When placed on the bare floor there was a huge gap between the new floor & the baseboard. They told me that if I wanted that flooring, that all of the baseboard would have to be removed and put back lower to meet the lower height of the flooring, because even the quarter round would not even cover the size of the gap and even if it did, it would not a good idea to install this material because there would be a huge space for air, etc to get in.

To add to this problem, the quote did not even include removal and replacement of the baseboard because the salesperson said it would not be necessary. The installers and I agreed that this was not the correct flooring to use. I told them I was very unhappy with this. I called the salesperson and left a message. (I was later told after calling the salesperson and leaving several messages, that the salespeople do not return their phone calls). The installer told me that this is not the first time this type of thing has happened with flooring. The installer then called his installation manager and explained what happened; the installation manager suggested another flooring. We arrived at a specification and color selection. The installers left without being able to do the job since they did not have the correct flooring.

The lead installer told me that he would confirm that the revised selected flooring was in the warehouse, have it reserved & re-scheduled for Monday July 23rd, because they were closed on Sunday. I was told that the revised flooring was more expensive to which I responded that they should be honoring their original quote regardless of which flooring I chose, due to the inconvenience they caused me. The installer called me back 8 pm Saturday night to say the flooring was revised, confirmed in the warehouse, reserved and re-scheduled for Monday July 23rd. He said he was not sure if he would be the installer for the job, but that it was re-scheduled.

We then had to bring the TV back inside and re-connect it so that we could watch it and other than that, everything remained in the garage. I arranged to take Monday and Tuesday July 23rd & 24th off as vacation days, hoping, thinking, trusting and trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that they would complete the installation Monday and I would put my house back together Tuesday. Monday July 23rd, no phone call, no text, no email, no show. I called the salesperson again and this time got an out of town until August 1st voice message. I called customer service again and as usual was put on hold for about 10 minutes.

Once I was connected I explained the whole thing, stating that the process they follow is the opposite of what it should be: a project should be field verified first, then the product specified and ordered; that the salesperson knew nothing about the flooring that was being sold. I was told in an impolite manner that it is not their policy to send an installer with a salesperson, or to send a field verifier first. I told customer service that this should be their policy. I asked to speak to an installation manager & was told that I would be called back. No one called me so I had to keep calling customer service, each time being put on hold. With each frustrating call I was asked to stay on the line to answer a 2 question survey. I started out doing that and then got so frustrated I hung up the phone without taking the survey.

I kept calling and got a customer service person that seemed to listen; I told them that the salesperson was out of town. They looked up my order and said that the flooring specification still showed the original flooring, the order was not revised with the corrected flooring and it was not scheduled for Monday. She put me in touch with a back-up salesperson saying they would correct everything and schedule the installation for Tuesday the 24th. I spoke to the backup salesperson who said it was all set for Tuesday the 24th. I received both text messages and emails saying it was scheduled for Tuesday the 24th. At this point I told everyone I spoke to that I would cancel the order and contract if the floors were not installed on Tuesday.

Tuesday I am awaiting the phone call from the installer to tell me they are in the area, when I receive a phone call from the installation manager telling me that the job was not ever scheduled for Tuesday, that the order still showed the original not the revised flooring and that they did not actually have the revised flooring in the warehouse; that this is a product in high demand, that they ran out of stock a while ago and in fact do not even have an ETA as to when they will receive more. I told the install manager that I had emails & text messages saying it was scheduled for Tuesday and that I was told by the back-up salesperson that everything was revised. The installation manager then told me that this probably happened in error because, and I quote: “a button was pushed on the computer.” I told this person that if the floors did not go in today that this was it.

The manager took about 4 hours to reply back to me with a flooring that they did have and that they may be able to schedule for Wednesday July 25th – today. I said, "No. I am canceling the order." I then had to call their customer service retention department and cancel the order and then had to call the financing corporation that the transaction went through, tell them what happened and close that account.

After this I had to start from scratch. I contacted the same flooring company (tried and true) that I had used before, went to their showroom with a piece of my existing flooring and underlayment, explained what happened, took samples home, made a decision, brought the samples back. They came to my home and verified measurements and sf. I then had to repeat the same financial, product availability and schedule process with them, and now have the flooring installation scheduled with them for August 2nd maybe sooner if possible. I am still living as if I am moving out and will do so until the flooring is installed.

Empire Today, while you are on hold waiting to speak to them, has a recording stating that they have over 2 million satisfied customers and how highly they are rated with the Better Business Bureau. What a joke. How deceiving, never again. I think that they probably started out as a small reputable company but have gotten too big for their britches. No one even seems to care when talking to them. It’s very political. All they seemed to care about was taking my money and making the sale, which, in the end, they lost.

This is the second time I have waited for a salesperson to come so I can fill out paperwork to get my carpets done. The first one reschedule because he had an issue and now the next rep is a no show. I already had a quote done but they won't let you sign and scan paperwork back to them they insist on a rep coming out again. It's not the same rep I had that originally came and did the quote. They are very high pressure and want you to sign on the dotted line the day they provide you with a quote. When I tried to call customer service about this they told me I had the national number and they can't help me transfer me to another "local" number that goes straight to voicemail. I will not be using them for my carpet. They are a fly by night at best company.

I had carpet installed in 2 rooms in March, they damaged my TV stand and broke my window crank in the basement, they did not wrap my basement steps then came out and tried to use different color carpet, seriously! I have sent numerous photos and emails and left voicemails, I am not getting any resolution almost 4 months later. This is unacceptable. I will never use Empire again and will not recommend to anyone. All I want at this point is to get this taken care of so that I can put this awful customer service experience behind me.

I have had two separate experiences with Empire and if I were to write a review based on the first experience it would have been a 5. We had our floors installed about a year and a half ago, great experience called them back when we had damage due to a flood. HORRIBLE Experience. The Sales Rep Richard ** talked down to me the entire time only addressing my husband. Mistake 1 - Not kicking him out there for being rude. I stated I did not want Laminate in my laundry area due to the moisture and he assured me that it would be fine and that he doesn't think they could do what I wanted so I let him talk me out of it.

Mistake 2. I showed him a concern we had regarding our crawl space access which he said he would let the installers know (they knew nothing of it when they came in and tried to nail it shut but that's another review). So cue 2 months later so far 2 times of people coming out to fix our floors which are now buckling around the dryer because SUPRISE... MOISTURE. I wrote a review on FB finally got a call to send someone out to fix it.

Now their fix was REINSTALLING THE LAMINATE UNDER THE DRYER. I say no that isn't a fix so they are going to send a sales guy out for a material selection. I tell them square do not send the same guy and gave his name. 1 day later. You bet the same sales rep comes to my house. He walks in with a chip on his shoulder asking what is wrong. I show him (admittedly now I am VERY agitated so maybe not the most pleasant person to deal with). I tell him the whole moisture thing and if he remembered when he came and told me the laminate would be "fine" under there but it is NOT due to moisture. He asked me "what's leaking?"

At this point obviously he is not listening to me so I had to ask him his experience with a dryer. They are hot items that use heat to dry wet clothes causing humidity. So he starts to walk away saying I have "been on him since he walked in the door." So I begin to ask if he doesn't understand why I am upset and he interrupts me with an "Oh, you're not done yet." To which he got flat kicked out of my house. Called back to customer service to complain. I got told a SALES MANAGER would call me today to reschedule. Sure enough the same guy who called Monday and Sent Rich back out called me to schedule. NO SALES MANAGER.

This isn't the first time I dealt with Empire. I have Venetian blinds on 12 windows and Empire had put them on. Now on this recent excursion they had five windows done. I did the living room and the kitchen. I liked their material and I'm a skilled tradesman. I know workmanship and I'm dealing with good products. When I buy something, I don't wanna have to go back and adjust. I want it installed and done.

I had a break in and they messed up one of my blinds in the bathroom. I put it back together and I missed a part. The installer was excellent and he brought me the part and put that one back up for me. Empire has some good people working for them. We had a little thing here at Memorial Day and some BBQ sauce got on my brand new blinds. I took a piece of wet cloth and wipe on it and they came clean. They're really good quality blinds and this is the third home I've put them in. People have come and looked it. I would refer others to Empire.

A couple of years ago, I had a room done by an installer sent by Home Depot and I was unhappy with what they did. Though the room had never been used, the carpet rolled and got blazed later on. They had no responsibility and I got fed up with that. I called Empire Today and their guy was at my place the same day and put the carpet down the next morning. The installers were fine except they went a little too fast. I was just amazed at how quickly they were done. We had glued down carpeting there before and they scraped the whole room. They even moved furniture for me. But, when I went to clean up, I saw where they had buped baseboards and in one spot, a little piece broke. Still, that wasn't a big deal as I could glue it back. The carpet looks good and I'm perfectly satisfied. I'm going to do my living room and dining room soon and I intend to call Empire Today again.

On November 1, 2017, we signed a contract to purchase/install laminate floors in our home through Empire Today. They scheduled the installation team to come on December 13, 2017 at 7am. We removed all of our furniture and pulled the carpet from the house in preparation. I took off work because someone needed to be present while the installers were here. No one showed or called and I missed a day of work. Additionally, we had to stay in a hotel because we had no bed to lie on. I called Empire and they stated they would credit me for my missed day of work and reschedule the install.

A few days later, they called and rescheduled the installation to commence at 7am. By 9am, the installers still had not shown. I called the 800 number to find out what was going on, since I took another day off work. They said they were stuck in traffic since they had to travel from Orlando to our home in Jacksonville. They do not use their own installers, they contract it out to the cheapest bidder. Finally they arrived around 11am and started working. Each day they came, they showed up late and worked late into the evening. Upon completion of the installation, we were initially pleased with the results.

A couple of weeks later, we noticed the floors were buckling in numerous areas of the house. I called Empire and they assigned a warranty claim number. They sent an installer to the house to repair the buckled areas. He stated that the floors were not installed properly and this would continue to be an issue. He even offered us his personal cell number because he knew we would need further repair down the road.

Well he was right. In early March, the floors were buckling again. I called Empire to file another claim. I insisted they send someone out to look at the floors. A month later, they finally had the original salesman come and we showed him all the issues. He stated how weird it was and it was not supposed to do that. He ordered extra boxes of the flooring and send out a repair installer for our SECOND round of repairs.

Here we are in July, and guess what... we are having MAJOR issues with the floors buckling AGAIN. I had an installer from another company come inspect and he told us the floors under the laminate were not properly prepared or leveled before the floors were laid, and the only remedy is to start over from scratch, which would cost us more than our initial installation! I called Empire on July 20th and they said someone would call me back in 24 hours. No one called. I called back today, July 24th and they said my ticket is pending with a "resolution specialist". The customer service rep tried calling her but got her voicemail. She said I need to wait for her to return my call.

I am extremely frustrated because we paid a lot of money for these floors, I've lost wages, the customer service is worthless, and I'm left with floors that look like a four year old installed. They said they would credit me for my missed days of work, but never did. It is my opinion that Empire is stalling so that my 1 year warranty will expire so they don't have to warranty their shoddy installation job. I pray Empire Today stands behind their product and services and rights this wrong once and for all. If not, we are prepared to take legal action because it's cheaper for us to hire a lawyer than to purchase new floors again.

Contracted for an installation date on ceramic tile for 7/20 a Friday. Empire called at 10am to inform of cancelation. Next date was Tuesday 7/24 as they do not work on Monday so I asked to be first call. Service person said, "Yes." Excuse was installer had an emergency. Well Tuesday comes at 10am. Again service person calls to cancel. I explain to her this was unacceptable and I needed someone there today. She said they had no others installer available as they were contracted to do others already. "Ok. Can I speak to a supervisor?" She says, "He is on another call. Can he call back." "Ok have him call me by 10:30am." By 11am no call back. So I called back and got an answering machine stating someone has 24 hours to call back.

I left my message by 11:30am. I called customer service to complain and see if they could move this along. Their reply was, "No. All others are on other scheduled jobs." "Ok can I speak to a supervisor?" A supervisor named Maria gets on and says same response. "Well how about pulling from another job and send them here as I have been inconvenienced." "No. We can not do that." "Well what is the solution?" Her answer was, "You have to wait until someone calls you back." "So I am to be shoved aside so no one cares," was my response.

I waited 5 days already. Does anyone care? Obviously not. It is now 2:11pm and no one has called including anyone from corporate. I have no information, nowhere to contact and the supervisor (Maria) gave me the same number that has an answering machine I originally called when I asked her for her direct line in case we got disconnected. Then she proceeded to leave me on hold for a substantial amount of time. Great. Still no information and no recourse except to call another co. NEVER EVER EVER CALL EMPIRE TODAY!!!

First of all Empire is not done installing the flooring in my house yet. Second issue the sales rep. did not discuss with me about how the financing worked, I thought I would just get billed and make the payments, but oh no I received a Wells Fargo credit card in the mail yesterday which I had no notice of. This is what I am supposed to use to pay for his service. If I were told about this I would have just used my credit card and paid it off after installation.

Third issue I called Empire's customer service line yesterday about the flooring that was installed in my hallway. It's not level. I checked it myself and I am not a lay person. I could tell as I walked on it that's why I checked, everything else seems fine. Fourth issue Empire made an appointment with me last week to install the remaining flooring and carpet today 7/24/18 so I took the day off of work. Empire rep. calls me at about 8-8:30 am to tell me that the material has not arrive yet and they don't know when it will arrive. I must be cursed. Seem like every time I hire a contractor to do work I get screwed. I knew I should have just done it myself. I am very dissatisfied. HELP!!

However, legitimate issues I have, as documented by explicit work orders, have not been addressed. I was very surprised by a call from a corporate official July 2, 2018, who assured me that my issues would be addressed. I have not heard from corporate since July 2 and will now begin to appeal to consumer advocacy sources that assist people like me in obtaining justice from large companies. Empire Today installed carpeting in my home and I love it. I chose them over other brands of flooring because of the time that they could install it. I liked the carpet that I picked better than the rest of the ones that they had. The sales representative was very efficient. The installation was shaky for a while and there was a little dilemma, but then that was resolved. We had opened up a wall to make a walk-in closet for one bedroom and we had bought some units from IKEA that we had partially put together. The units are tall and the installers didn't know how they were going to move these units in order to put the carpet down. But they got this figured out and I was satisfied that everything got done in a timely fashion with the time constraints I had, and I was happy with the time that it took them to do the work and complete it. My experience with Empire was fine and I like that the carpet that I got from them is new and it's in both rooms.

Also, everybody else wanted about three months to do it and Empire could do it in a couple of weeks. I watched Empire install the flooring here and everything is good. It was expensive but I like my experience with Empire Today.

I called up Empire to get a quote for the floor in my trailer. I've seen their commercials all over the country and I wondered if they would do a job that's small. They came out and took a look at everything then gave me a quote. I thought they'd do a good job so I hired them. Up until the end of the first day, everything went great. Then there were a couple of hiccups because the head of the crew got sick and he even went into the hospital for that night after he finished working. So he couldn't come the next day and then the crew was gonna come back on Wednesday, but they didn't get here until Friday. That was the only thing I was a little disappointed in because they put the refrigerator, stove, and everything in the dining room and the place was torn up from that Monday night to Thursday. However, the original guy came back and he finished everything up. They put in baseboards and did a very thorough, nice job.

I got the tile that looks like wood and I like that it looks really good. I also feel good about the quality. It's easy to take care of and it's waterproof. I've been very happy with the final results and I'd recommend Empire. They do drapes and different things too, so at least get a quote from them. They came in and did what they said they were gonna do for the price they said they were gonna do it for.

I went to one store that has carpet layers and the guy that runs the store was very nice. I would have gone with him, but my kids told me to call Empire Today because they have had them before and it was a very good price. I went with Empire, listened to the rep explaining to me, and then I picked out the carpet I wanted at that time. But I made a mistake on the kind of carpet I chose 'cause I didn't go into a lot more samples than I did since I didn't wanna get confused as I just wanted a similar one to what I had, but only lesser footprints.

When their guys came with the carpet, they told me to go and look at it to make sure it was the one I wanted. They took me out to the truck to look at it and I said, "I don't know if I want that or not." So, they took the carpet back and the guy came back out in a very short period of time to put the other carpet down. He was very nice about it. He probably didn't like making another trip out here, but he didn't give me any static at all, and it turned out okay.

I was very happy with the way the people at Empire conducted it. The guys that came out here and laid the carpet were very good and efficient. I wanted a normal, not high-end carpet, so I went with the mediocre. I just had to get the right color, which I did and I'm happy with it. The carpet that I got shows little footprints and it's not as bad as the one that I had before. Empire Today is a big company and has been here for quite a long time. They have to satisfy a lot of people and I certainly would consider and give them a call again next year.

They laid a fantastic floor in the lobby downstairs too and they were phenomenal. The flooring is great. Everybody loves it. Somebody came to see my floors and then they went right with Empire. I’ve also referred Jim to Empire but he was very concerned that I didn’t get my referral fee so Empire shouldn’t tell people that they were supposed to credit something for referring someone. When I was able to walk on the floor and inspect it 2 days later, I noticed that the floor was uneven and the grout job was horrible. Three men came out and looked at the floor and stated that they could maybe redo the grout. I eventually spoke to the General Manager in Sacramento and he came out. He stated that the tile job was not the worst he had ever seen but it was not a good job. We scheduled an appointment with him to have it redone on July 19th and 20th.

When I called Customer Service on the 18th, I was told that nothing had been scheduled. I have been unable to reach the General Manager (no return calls) or the Customer Service REP (no return calls). They took my money and did a poor quality job and will not fix it. We were told by cust svc we didn’t pay for extra 8 boxes. I am sure we did, it is factored in price we paid which I thought was priced too much. And what about labor I probably paid in our price for installing those 8 boxes if they were needed. Next day we were having carpet installed also different installers who somewhat quit company that I was scheduled with. No phone call from cust svc, I called a few hours later and was told to be rescheduled for another date. Wasted my day.

Another crew came next day and did great job. Their install manager removed padding from my carpet order which we did want and then wanted to charge me extra for glue. Confused my install guys and me. I hope Empire will make good on refunding me some amount off our balance of job for padding and 8 extra boxes of same color laminate. Overpaid. I have used Empire in past homes in N.Y. and Florida and never had an issue and got a fair price.

I contacted Empire Today to install laminate flooring in three bedrooms in my home. I initially had carpet that I wanted to be removed. Based on their commercial and their recordings when you call the company, they insured customer satisfaction. I found the staffs that I have corresponded with by phone were very inconsiderate, confrontational, and has no regard for their customers.

For about two months now, I have been trying to get Empire Today to send someone back to correct my floors. They left a huge gap behind two of my bedroom doors and one of the planks in the other bedroom is not even with the others. Someone can easily trip if the person is not watchful. I have called to set appointments after appointment. Each time no one from the company showed up. I was not even given a call to let me know they were not coming. This has been going on for I know two months, and as of today July 18 on an appointment day, set by a supervisor, they did not show up or call.

Today July 18, 2018 is a scheduled appointment that was made over a week ago by a “supervisor.” I waited for someone to show up or a call because I was assured by a staff that someone will call me when they are on their way. Just a courtesy call for assurance. Their appointments are set from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. After waiting for some hours, I decided to give them a call to confirmed they were still coming; just to be faced with another disappointment. After going over and over with a customer service staff about not showing up or calling, I was only told there is nothing they can do but set yet another appointment. Like in the past I asked to speak with a supervisor, but even that is like pulling a wisdom tooth. When I finally got a supervisor (so I was told) on the phone I hear the same accuse "I call you, but I still can't send anyone until???" Whatever day they choose to say.

After dealing with this so long, I decided to record our conversations. They are not a very truthful company nor reliable. The supervisor I spoke with was very rude. I had to set yet another appointment because he said they don't have the materials to finish the job from around two months ago. All I am asking for Empire Today to complete a job that I have already paid. I feel/know base on my experience with the company, Empire Today cannot be trusted. They have no conscience in mistreating their consumers. They are not reliable. I suggest to anyone who uses the company to be very careful of their underhanded ways.

I used Empire 20 years ago and was very pleased with both the price, quality and installation. Because of that experience I very recently contacted them to get an estimate to flooring for my whole house. I did not make a commitment because I'm a shopper and like to get estimates from several sources. During my meeting with the Empire rep that measured for me and while giving me prices, I commented that I wasn't sure of the cost. The rep told me that I could possibly finance a portion and suggested that we find out if I would qualify.

I agreed on the condition that we were just checking and were NOT opening an account. To my horror I was notified by one of the credit bureaus today that I have a new account and that account has quite a large balance. I have not ordered, nor received any flooring from Empire and based on this I will never use them again. I have filed a dispute with the credit bureau and hope to get this account removed before it's reflecting that I've missed payments and affecting my credit score. This is crap.

After 2 years, we had a person from Empire come out to look at the way the carpet wore (it looked awful). He said that it could all be remedied with a heat-extracted method. We did that and it didn't look any better so we replaced it with tile after only 4 years since the installation of the, so called, top notch carpet. We purchased 3 types of flooring from Empire Today almost 2 years ago. With 2 of the products, we are generally satisfied. However, with the hardwood, we are totally unsatisfied. A few months after installation, we experienced splinters in several places. The worst part of the experience has been dealing with the customer service department to get this issue resolved. They have taken us through different stages, yet the problem remains unresolved. In trying to work with Empire to resolve this issue, we’ve had to: send them pictures; schedule a meeting with a “manager” who came out to do an inspection (he actually suggested that we use a color marker to resolve the issue! ); undergo another inspection by an independent consultant; wait for Empire to decide that they needed to fix the problem and try to get them to honor their word. This has been a total disaster.

Customer service reps will not call back after promising to get back with us by a certain date. When we did talk to someone, they set up two separate appointments to come out and make repairs. However, no one from Empire showed up for either appointment! We’ve spoken specifically with Judy (customer rep.) and Michelle (customer service mgr.), but still no success in getting this problem resolved. We are totally disgusted with Empire Today. I had carpeting installed by Empire Today and I was supposed to have some more flooring installed. The first go-around was fine. But the second time they were to come back, I had a water leak while on vacation. I had all the hardwoods floored up and they had finishing nails left. The salesperson knew that. Reservations were made for them to come on a Saturday to finish taking up the nails and putting the flooring down. The guy got here and he said he couldn't take all those nails up because he was told it has a floating floor and it was not a floating floor. He said that if they have to do this, there was gonna be an extra charge for it. I told him to call his supervisor and he did but the guy wouldn't call and text him back. We stood and looked at each other for two hours and he did nothing.

I contacted the salesperson and a couple of minutes later, he said that it was good to go and that the guy should be starting and that I should be getting a phone call. I never got a phone call from anybody until someone from Empire called me. And about 20 minutes into the conversation, I had enough. I told her I signed the contract for this flooring to be put down. I had already given them money and I expected that to be done that day. My person said the guy should be doing it but he was not doing it until he heard from his person. She said all they could do is reschedule which I said no to. I had changed my plans that day for them to come and do it.

I asked to speak to the manager and he gave me the same runaround. I told the the manager the contract says for the flooring to be taken up and for new flooring to be put down and he said it was a subflooring. The contract states flooring. I couldn't help that the person who put it down was subcontracted through Empire. That was not my problem. My contract says this flooring is gonna be put down that day and that was what I expected. If not, I was gonna cancel and I wanted all my money back. I was not nice about it at all. I had lost it by the end. They said they couldn't put it down that day so I said I expected my money back and would send the guy home.

They drove two hours to get the flooring and another hour to get here and by then, it was going on 5:00 or 6:00. That was not a good experience and I wouldn’t do it again. I sent an email to somebody but nobody has responded to that nor has the salesperson contacted me since then to even say, “How did it go or what happened?” Also, I wish that when I moved in the house and had all the flooring done, I hadn't gone to them because I would've saved a lot of money. It's overpriced.

I originally had the Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) installation scheduled 2 weeks ago, which is when the installers started, and the job was just finished yesterday. The original installers started the job and determined they needed t-molding to finish the job. So, for 2 weeks my hours was left in disarray -the toilet was disassembled and left is the shower, supplies everywhere, air registers detached and not reinstalled, etc. The workmanship was not good as there were gaps left next to cabinets and t-moulding used in the middle of an open area, which should have been continuous flooring.

For 2 weeks, I tried to confirm an installation completion date with Empire. The customer service was horrible - they promised call backs and never followed through and even scheduled an appointment and no one showed up! It took 2 more scheduled appointments to finish the job. When the 2nd installer added the 3/4” round moulding that matched the floor color, the ends that were cut are white - and they stick out like a sore thumb! Terrible look - see photo attached. The installer left a gash in our closet door (photo attached). All in all it was a nightmare of an experience. I am one dissatisfied customer!!

The first experience when I had my floor done on Willow Road by Empire was nice. But when I had the hardwood in the kitchen done at our other house, it was 2000 dollars when the guy that did it figured it out, and that wasn't good. I like the wood grain a lot, but I didn’t like the price as I was misled. The previous guy was better and he knew what he was doing.

We were to have numerous types of flooring removed and carpet installed Thursday July 12, 2018. When the gentlemen showed around 2:30 they said they would not do everything as they didn’t show removing certain flooring (our paperwork showed everything) but they could do some but we would have to pay in full showing the work was completed.

Customer service kept saying paperwork didn’t show certain flooring being taken out. Again my paperwork clearly shows it to be done. Can never get through to customer service Tampa office no matter what extension you try. I planned my carpet install around my moving furniture. I get a call Friday July 12th saying someone will be there this morning to remove ceramic tile. Called customer service at 12:30 and they robotically said between 8-6 (even though I got a call saying this morning). Even the salesperson is unable to help us get this resolved. Still dealing with such an incompetent company. No compassion or understanding or trying to make it right. They definitely would want to be treated this way.

I purchased carpet a few weeks ago for my mother's home. We explained to the salesperson that it’s a high traffic area and the carpet has to be sturdy. We were assured it was and we were picking a great carpet. The salesperson was nice but the price was cheaper in Home Depot for the same exact carpet and the only reason we went with them is because they guaranteed fast delivery.

The install date came and the installers were also very nice but warned my mom that the carpet was very fragile and will pull. The carpet actually had pulls it in after they left... I called for someone to come look at it and the installer came back, cut the pulls with scissors and said it will happen again but just keep cutting... this is not acceptable to me. I paid over 1700 for carpet that is of poor quality and I have to cut it with scissors when it pulls? I have tried to get someone to call me back of authority. I do not want the installer back and have called 4 times. Every time the call center operator was polite and would escalate my complaint and it has been two weeks no call... it’s disgusting the way this company thinks it can treat its customers.

I asked why you didn’t tell when we signed the contract, they said it was a mistake. Called sales rep who agreed to amount but he never responded. Overall very bad experience.

I had Empire Today put carpeting in two of our rooms, our hallway, and a bedroom upstairs. I also had laminate floor put in our kitchen, utility room, and bathroom, and vinyl on our back door. The installation was fine and the guys who did it were competent. I like my bedroom floor and the carpeting's okay, but the kitchen, utility room, and bathroom floors suck. I was not told what could happen to the laminate if water’s on it. My washer overflowed three times and it has ruined my floor. If the salesman would've said, “I don’t advise that,” we wouldn’t have done it. I let Empire Today know about the issue and the person I talked to told me that they shouldn’t have sold us that product for those areas. They should have known that there's a potential for water in the kitchen sink, the washer, and the bathroom. The covings are also coming off in my bathroom and my hallway. And I'm not happy with that. Stay away from Empire Today.

We had a laminate flooring put in through the whole house by Empire Today. I actually had another person come in and their price was cheaper before going to Empire, but I didn't like how the rep explained it. But the Empire guys did an excellent job at explaining everything. I like the dark color and stain-resistance of the flooring. Nothing stains on it and I just have to use the Swiffer. But it shows a lot of dust especially in the summer with the windows open. The dust settles on it so we're sweeping every day.

The guy from Empire gave me a whole bunch of cards, so I gave my friends his card. He's an older gentleman and takes the time to explain stuff to us older people and I appreciate that. He didn't put everything at, "Well, you should go on a computer." We don't do a lot on computers, so he took the time to explain stuff. The installers came in at 10 o'clock in the morning and they were here until 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. It was a long day but I expected that. On the second schedule, I was already at work and he came in with my husband. And he was already finished by the time I got home from work.

Empire Today used me for an asbestos removal and I used them in return to install the laminate, the linked and plank flooring in my front sun porch and my kitchen. Although the flooring looks very nice, I’m actually not impressed with the whole flooring. For some reason, they put the wrong trimmer on the outside of the flooring. The guys that put it in said that whoever loaded their truck from the shop didn’t load the right material so it has different color quarter rounds. There are different colors of them around my floors so it looks super stupid. They’re supposed to come back out to fix a couple of things, but it's been three weeks and they still haven’t come out to do it. Other than that, I’ve used Empire all the time and had them do other stuff and rentals for me. They’ve done a good job before and it was just this incident that I’m not real happy about and hopefully, they get it fixed up. Still, I’ll recommend Empire Today.

Stay far away from this company. We had LVT tile (which I was not told is NOT tile but vinyl just with a fancy name) installed in November 2017 and by MAY 2018 it was lifting, and peeling away and several soft areas. I informed them that the sales rep should not have installed this material in my bathroom if it’s not safe or waterproof. When I finally spoke to someone in the San Diego branch (Gilbert) he said “who told you that?! That’s a lie. We install in bathrooms and kitchen all the time”... Ummm your website told me!!! It says it can barely get wet?! Ummm. How do you keep kitchen and bathroom with showers and tubs and kids safe from splash? We had ceramic tile in there and the sales rep said we should match the rest of our rooms with this tile. Needless to say we were duped!!! It was a total upsell to make a sale and was very dishonest by Lynda **. Shame on you!

The communication is impossible. You call and they take 3 “business” days to return the call, then it’s a week or 2 to get someone out. Save yourself the headache and find someone local. This is like the McDonald’s of flooring with a Ruth’s Chris price tag. I didn’t even get to discuss what happened at installation but the 3rd party contractors had to go buy trim/border because they screwed up and didn’t measure before removing old carpets.

My wife and I wanted to have hardwood flooring installed in our dining room and master bedroom. We scheduled an appointment with Empire. The sales rep arrived late, but quickly got down to business. The first cost estimate was for $10,500, which alarmed me. I said it was outside my budget. The sales rep asked what my budget was and I said $6,500. She quickly said "Well you are in luck... We can do it for $6,300." I felt ripped off after that, but felt it was a good price based on my research. The sales rep told me the install would take one day, and was scheduled for a Friday. I later received an email saying the team would arrive between 0800-1600.

The morning of the install I received a phone call at 0810 from an automated service saying the install team would arrive between 0915-1015. I figured I had time to drop my daughter off at swim team practice which was just a 5 minute round trip. As I was about to leave at 0815, I get a knock at the door. The install team arrived. The individual at the door said his team didn't show up this morning, so it was just him. He would not be able to finish the job in one and would need to reschedule or add another day (Saturday or Monday). This frustrated me because I already took a day off work to be here for the install and I had plans on Saturday and Monday. I felt like I had no choice at this point, so allowed him to start the work today and said to plan for Saturday to finish it.

I then called Empire customer service. I was on hold for over an hour. At 0930 I spoke with a human about the situation. They said they would contact the install manager and the install manager would get back to me in 20 minutes. At 1230 I called customer service again. I was on hold for an hour. They apologized, and said they would contact the install manager, and the install manager would contact me before the end of the day. At 4:30 I called customer service and was on hold for 45 minutes. They apologized, and said they left messages for the install manager to call me as soon as possible. I didn't hear from anyone the rest of the day.

The next day the installer arrived at 0815 and continued work. I called Empire customer service. After being on hold for 30 minutes, the service desk said the install manager doesn't work on weekends, and would call me within 1 business day. Since I called on a Friday, the next business day would be Tuesday. As of today, Monday, 10 days after the initial call, I haven't heard at all from Empire. I filled out the customer survey saying I was dissatisfied and indicated I wanted to speak with someone from Empire about my experience. Still haven't heard back.

The installer did a GREAT job on the install. The floor looks fantastic, and I'm very happy with the professionalism of the installer. However I am completely dissatisfied and disappointed with the overall experience from Empire and the poor customer service. They claim to strive for World Class customer support. They fall way short.

On May 15th, 2018, two installers arrived at my home to install vinyl tile in my kitchen and hallway bathroom. As the work was being done I asked one of the installers should my flooring have what appeared to be spots - color defects in it. His response, "Yes this is the way it should look." I did not think it should look this way. After the installers left I really looked at the tile and noticed how poorly it looked. The tile look nothing like I expected. It has a dull look - with spots -discoloration throughout! I tried to clean by wiping the spots with water then cleaning with Bona Tile cleaner but nothing changed. I have called Empire weekly - talking to customer service resulting in no assistance with my flooring.

Each time I was told the representative was sending an email to someone who would contact me within 24-48 hours to discuss my complaint which never happened. I was so frustrated I called the salesperson who I met with initially and was told Empire has had several complaints recently about the flooring. I was encouraged to contact Biana ** I called Biana ** and she was no help either. My last conversation with her was Empire can come to install Laminate Flooring that I requested as a correction but it will be at an additional cost to me! I could not believe what I was hearing. Empire already charging me 2400.00 for flooring that clearly has defects in it and if I want it corrected I must pay more money. I am not happy at all. I am receiving no assistance from Empire. I refuse to pay for it. I am so disappointed. Every day I am looking at a mess on my floors. I will never use or suggest Empire again!

Updated on 07/10/2018: Today 7-10-18, I received a phone call from Empire Representative Tanzanine **. She indicated she wanted to discuss my concerns involving the tile recently installed in my kitchen and bathroom. I explained once again my concerns. Once again I was informed Laminate flooring can be installed but at a Discount Price to me. So again I am being told if I want something different installed I am going to have to pay more money. This is not something I am willing to do or think I should have to do. I have to pay more money to correct a problem that is clearly an Empire Today problem. I was informed again that what I am seeing is what the tile should look like. I do not agree! Again my issue is not being resolved. Consumers beware of Empire Today. I will never use them again. Again I am not satisfied with the outcome of my phone contact today!

This is the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered and I will never use Empire again (having used them twice before with satisfaction.) Ordered $14K of new flooring -vinyl plank and carpet for entire rental property. Was told it would be installed on Friday (hard plank) and Saturday (carpet). The installers arrived on Friday and worked for 10 hours - looks great however, they were missing the connecting “cove” so there is a gap between flooring and kitchen cabinets. He told me to call the 800 # to handle getting it finished. On Saturday carpet guys arrive to do half the job as they say it is too much for one day (although my salesman assured me it would take one day.)

Installer tells me he will return on Monday morning to complete. He does not. I call him and he tells me I have to call 800 #. After waiting for 46 minutes on hold for a customer service rep, I am told they are unsure when they can finish. I have already had to postpone renters for a day and now it will be more. So I lose that income ($850) and no one will get back to me. My only resource is an 800 number. I will never use them again! The customer service is atrocious and the “next day” installation is a lie! For the considerable cost and purchase, I would have expected at least a human contact person who could handle my issues not an incompetent 800 number system that I must continually call and still has not solved my rather large problem!

I had carpeting installed by Empire Today in my family room and two bedrooms. The carpet has been here for eight years and I liked that they were multicolored and it blended in so I didn’t have to paint. The salesgirl did an excellent job and I was impressed with her. She was patient and called me on the phone. I felt comfortable and I called her back. She came back out again, brought me the sample again, and told me to hold on to it, put it down on the floor and see how I liked it. Then she offered me a little discount. She told me I could call the company and see if they would bargain with me and if they had any other specials. A week or two later, I called and asked if they could lower it another $100 and they said yes.

I was kind of surprised with the ones that came out to put it because they were two guys. One was an older gentleman and they were kinda petite. They were not big strong guys and I was fearful of them hurting themselves. But they did a good job. But I had some stripping put down on the old ones and they took those up and they put it down but they missed a couple of the tacks. I didn’t know because it blends in with the carpet where it was laying. I head on the house without slippers and I felt something on my foot and it was one of the little tacks that nail down the stripping. Then I went along the hallway and I felt a couple more. I told Empire that the stripping wasn’t put down solid and I’ve been finding some tacks.

I got the vacuum and cleaned out. But they said they’ll come out and have the guy tack it back down. I thought it was gonna be the same guy but it was someone different but he was nice. He came on the house and went through all over where the stripping was. And he felt it and made sure. I have picked up about four of them and he put them back. Also, I bought an electrical recliner and it had a shortage in it. It burnt my carpet and Empire is taking care of that. There was a little round spot about the size of a 50 cent. It didn’t do any damage but right there where the wire was touching. Other than that, I’ve recommended Empire. My neighbors asked and they know. They saw the truck and I told them I was really pleased. One of them was thinking about moving and they’re gonna try to fix the house up, put carpet, and try to sell it.

The guy also said that the products for my house got in an accident coming from Dallas so they had to work around that.

Also, we had a dispute because they said I needed the 1/4-inch laminate, although I put down 1/2-inch on top of the old floor. And in the bathroom and the larger room, the guy didn’t use the 1/4-inch laminate. It was an experience trying to get that resolved because I kept getting the runaround. No one cared and no one could tell me where the material is and what happened. Took 4 hours to finally get contract cancelled. Awful experience. I'm better off going to a mom and pop place in a strip mall. At least they would care about their client.

I booked Empire Today to tile a small storage entrance/storage room. I moved everything out the night before they were scheduled and in the morning received an automated call that they were on the way. But no one ever showed up. Every time I called they told me they couldn't get in touch with my installer. Then they said he had come into work late but was on his way. At 4pm I called again and asked to cancel and asked for confirmation I would get a full refund. The service rep said she would process the cancellation request but that only the cancellation team could decide if they would give a refund and she wasn't authorized to transfer me to them until after processing my cancellation (that's ridiculous).

I asked for a supervisor who apologized, said they would absolutely refund in full but offered me a financial consideration to reschedule and I stupidly agreed. One week later and the exact same thing. Only now I have had to pack and unpack and pack this room twice so I insist they come first thing the next morning to do my job; I am told they will write a ticket and a manager will call me within 24 hours (which would then be the weekend). So I request a supervisor and they hang up on me after 45 minutes of holding for a supervisor. And guess what? Then they don't answer phone- maybe closed for the day? So the next morning I get an email that they will come a WEEK later. I call again and again they refuse to help me and say they just don't have any room to schedule new jobs. NOT A NEW JOB. I am disgusted and really upset. I lost a lot of time packing and unpacking the room - and I still don't have tile (Ceramics).

There was a 50% off on television, but it was a fraudulent claim because it was only for a few different styles. The rep didn't have those with her, but they were in the truck if I wanted to look at them, so it was a bait-and-switch type of deal. Nevertheless, I had carpet installed by Empire Today in the whole house and the quality is okay so far.

We were scheduled to get our bathroom floors redone in Luxury Vinyl Plank. We decided we were gonna change out the toilets at the same time since they had to be removed anyway for the new flooring. We rented a trailer ($58) to remove the old toilets so that they could be taken to the dump. My son in law took time off work to be there to help my husband with the dump run etc. We were suppose to go a family member’s graduation but decided we better not commit since we weren't sure when the installers would be done. The day of installation we're waiting and waiting. Finally, I call to confirm everything is good. That's when I am told that they wouldn't be able to install that day - was told that the contractors didn't show up. I was offered a small credit. I was upset, but hey I realize that things can happen.

Our installation was rescheduled for the following week. So, we rent the trailer out again (another $58) the next weekend (once again my son in law takes the day off of work). Once again there was a family member graduation we were suppose to go to. We cancel and give our tickets away since we weren't sure when the installers would be finished. Again, we're waiting and waiting the morning of installation. No phone call. Finally I call to check. I am told the same exact thing – “Contractor didn't show up. We won't be doing your floors today.”

This time I am def upset. Again I am offered a credit. At this point, my husband and son in law remove and replace the toilets themselves. We can't afford to keep renting out this trailer. We reschedule for the 3rd time. This time I canceled to attend my granddaughter's dance recital. I didn't want to miss another family event. We rescheduled for a Thursday this time. I'm thinking that we may have better luck with a weekday. I'm scheduled for today, 5 Jul. My husband took the day off work and stayed home. We were all ready. We're thinking the third times a charm. I even get the email sent that tells me we're scheduled for installation on 5 Jul. I'm thinking we're good this time! (even though I received that same email before and got stood up) I'm feeling very optimistic!

I call around 9:30am. I'm disappointed to hear that an installer hasn't been assigned yet. But I'm told they have until 10:30am for this. I wait. I get a call at 10am telling me that the installer called in sick probably because of the holiday. And that it's because of the holiday etc etc etc. Well it wasn't a holiday the other two times I got stood up so that is BS. I honestly cannot believe that installation is being cancelled for the third time. I was offered additional; discounts but honestly unless its free - these discounts don't cover the hassle, stress and events that I've missed.

It pains me to have to write this review. The reason is that a few months ago, we had our entire first floor redone by Empire and everything went off pretty smoothly. We were pretty happy with our experience that time. That is the reason we decided to call them back. We're planning to get our 2nd floor totally redone next year too and was gonna go with Empire for all of it but I can't go through this again. The latest is that we're scheduled to get our bathroom floors done this coming Saturday, 7 Jul (which happens to be my daughter’s birthday). So more inconvenience and stress to look forward to. IF THEY SHOW. I mean at what point does a client become a priority? Beyond disappointed, beyond frustrated.

During initial purchase, discussed need to repair parts of damaged floor, and remove tile, prior to installation. Tiles were already removed to display parts of damaged floor. Sales representative stated it would be taken care of and articles in kitchen would be moved by contractor. Provided a downpayment and scheduled a date for installation.

On two separate occasions, appointments were canceled by Empire. First stating, tile purchased was not in stock. Subsequent appointment was canceled because the wrong color tile was delivered for installation. I made an inquiry to installation department to determine why I was never giving opportunity to select the available tile. No response was offered.

The third installation date, the contractor stated he’d arrive at 1 pm then 2 pm. Installer, finally arrived at 4:30 pm. Examined the floor then shared he’d be unable to install because of the floor damage despite the sales representative words to the contrary. Stated, Empire needed to give more money for the work to be performed. He called his manager. Communicated in Spanish then handed me the phone. I explained my experiences to the manager and what was negotiated by the sales representative. I shared I would report them. He responded ending with stating, “I don’t care what you do!”

I called customer service to request a refund. I was forwarded to another representative. She read the notes for the previously canceled installations. She listened to my recent experience. She offered to reduce the price but was told by her manager I should not have been offered the reduction. She subsequently told me I had 60 days to claim the reduced price. But the floor needed to be repaired prior to the installation. Floor repair was negotiated during sales. I waited nearly a month. I rearranged work schedule As an outcome, I was informed Empire was not able to perform the work originally negotiated. This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had as a consumer.

Empire Today put in laminate wood floors in the whole upstairs, including three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the kitchen, living room and family room. And then, I had carpeting going down the stairs which had two flights with eight steps per flight and also downstairs, where there are two rooms connected with each other. I considered other companies and compared many things such as proximity, the quality and pricing. I chose Lowe's but the problem with them was that they asked me to move things and they were more expensive. On the other hand, Empire told me not to lift a finger and that they would move all things so I went with them instead. However, that was not true. Once I was committed to them, I still had to do a lot of prep work for them.

But the installers did a good job and they were very helpful. Also, they had to do a couple of structural things for me. I had some stairways and they had to put a full nose on it. They went above and beyond and got that installed correctly. The flooring looks good as far as aesthetics. However, with the laminate floor, I can't have any water on it at all and I have to get it out quickly. Had I known that, I probably would have chosen hardwood floor versus laminate flooring.

Empire met my expectations but there was a problem with the installation day. Empire told me it was to be done in the morning, but I didn't get any phone calls until I made 20 calls showing my anger to my sales rep. I finally got a call at 3:45 and the Empire installers asked if I still wanted him to install, and I said yes. Empire Today put down a good product and I'm angry about their lack of communication and not committing to their early committed install date. I had already booked everything during the day of the installation and I had to postpone all of my other scheduled appointments and reschedule them for the next couple of days.

He kept calling the main office. They got it resolved and he put it up. The flooring is durable and it's a lot warmer compared to what I had before.

However, I am very dissatisfied with Empire despite the good. In my first experience with them, I had my whole house carpeted and I had two guys. They came into the house and I had all the drawers moved out of the furniture. I had everything else moved and they said that the furniture was too heavy for them and they didn’t sign up for this. I don’t know what their deal was, but they were very rude. They broke two pieces of the furniture, and it's solid oak. It's hard to break solid oak, but they cracked a whole top of a dresser, the kind that you have the mirror on top of, and an end table cracked in half. At that point, I just wanted them out.

    Original Review: July 2, 2018

The installers came on time. Introduced themselves and showed me the carpet and padding while still on the truck. They proceeded into my home to measure what I assume was how they needed to cut the carpet for each room. The driver then asked for payment upfront. I got hesitant because I had already paid $610 for them to do the work and I assumed the balance would be required after the work was done. They say it was in the contract to pay upfront. I told them I was going to call the company and they proceeded to walk out the front door, saying they were going to smoke a cigarette. After I got off the phone and looked outside they were gone. I missed work, my living room is full of bedroom furniture, I'm sleeping on a couch, I'm single and 62 years old.

Who or what kind of company does this? When I finally got to someone who could probably help me, he said they could reschedule for next Monday, they would take another $150 off on top of the $150 that was supposed to be taken off at the initial start up of this contract. As of right now I am extremely dissatisfied and appalled at them taking my money and trying to charge me a 15 percent cancellation fee. I went with this company because I thought they were a reputable company. I will give them another chance to rectify the problem but in all honesty, I would never use this company again or refer anyone to Empire Today.

Then I have eight black spots in front of my fireplace, which I never walk at, and it has not been taken care of and I want it taken care of. I spoke to Ashley a lot and I spoke to the head of the Seattle area people, but then he got fired and another guy came in. This guy was very nice. He said they were really behind and I still have not got anybody to take care of it, so I'm pretty pissed off. I went with them because we also got flooring in Virginia in the big house I had and they were great, but this time it has been a nightmare. Nevertheless, the products seem to be durable. The carpet is very nice and its color is nice too.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Nothing about what the sales rep said was accurate. She said 1 day install. WRONG. She also miscalculated the amount of carpet needed for the job. The installers were supposed to be there 1st thing in the morning. By 11 am they still hadn't showed. Impossible to speak to a person who knew anything so had to keep leaving messages. They only did the upstairs and were there until 8:30 pm. Said they would be back next day to install rest. WRONG. Took several days for them to return to do downstairs and even then impossible to know when they would show up. They were supposed to come back to do the stairs on Saturday. WRONG AGAIN.

They never showed up and Wanda the install scheduler out of Twinsburg and Diane out of Cleveland liars. Say one thing and do not follow through. Highly unprofessional. I had someone waiting at my house all day and they neglected to show. Then on Thursday when they rescheduled... we were supposed to be 1st install of the morning. My husband took off of work again. No show yet AGAIN. Finally after being very insistent someone installed stairs that night at around 5:30 pm. Many work days wasted, promises broken and time wasted on hold with their useless Customer Service people. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I serve as the principal for a small private school. We had previously purchased flooring from Empire, and had a satisfactory experience. We wanted to match the carpet with what had been installed previously so we decided to go with Empire again. I still had the rep's number, so I called him to inquire about a quote. When he came to take the measurements he told me he needed to get some information from one of the commercial flooring guys before he could give me a formal quote, but that he would email it to me by Monday or Tuesday (this was on a Thursday). I told him that was fine, as long as I had it prior to our board meeting in two weeks.

On the following Thursday, one week later, I requested an update but did not hear back from the rep. Over the next several days I made multiple attempts to contact him, still without response. Today (the board meeting is this evening) I called Empire's customer service line to see if they could track down the quote. After 45 minutes on the phone with them looking through their system they came to the conclusion that the rep had never generated a quote, and in fact had never even logged the visit in their system. They attempted to call the rep directly but (what a surprise) he did not answer. They did offer to connect me to the sales manager in the local office. But they were unable to get that person on the phone either.

To their credit the people I spoke to at Empire's customer service line were courteous, professional, and tried very hard to be helpful. As I said, they spent forty-five minutes trying to find the quote, and attempted to put me in direct contact with the local office. Unfortunately, due to failures on the part of local personnel, they were ultimately unable to provide a resolution to my problem. At this point if I could give zero stars I would, and it is highly unlikely that I or my school will do business with Empire in the future.

Last night, Empire called and asked if they could change the time. Unfortunately, we could not and they agreed to keep the 1:00 pm appointment. No show. When I called to ask where they were, they claimed they left me a voicemail letting me know the carpet was out of stock. A lie, and what a coincidence! Yesterday they wanted to change the appointment, and when we could not accommodate that request, suddenly, the carpet was out of stock...Did not happen, there was no call or voicemail.

They only had one telephone number to contact us, and it was my correct number. No call, no show. I called and asked for a supervisor and a refund. They said no, that I would have to speak to the "local office". I asked for the name of the person to speak with and telephone number of the local office. They said they did not have a name and could not give me the telephone number. Seriously??? I am not making this up!!! They do not know when they will have the carpet, cannot tell me who to speak with and will not provide a refund. Wow. I think this is called fraud? I had an appointment on May 29 to have flooring installed in my laundry/mud room. We had taken the freezer, washer, dryer and the toilet out so the installers could work in the room. About 8:30 AM. I received a call from the installers that they would not be coming today because they were too busy and would not have time to come install my flooring. Thank goodness my son-in-law was here and he helped us move everything back inside. I made another appointment. On June 25th I received a call to confirm my appointment on June 26th. I make it a habit to repeat back the information just to make sure I have everything correct. I told the representative, "This is for tomorrow" and "Will they call me before they come." I was told yes and they would call about 30 minutes before they were expected to arrive.

My husband and I moved the freezer, washer, dryer and the toilet again. This time we did not have anyone here to help us. I stayed home Tuesday and waited. When three o'clock came around, I called and asked when they were going to show up. I was told my appointment was for Saturday June 30. I said I had confirmed an appointment for today. I then asked to speak to a supervisor (a big waste of time). I told this person that I would never make an appointment for Saturday since my husband and I had made plans for the day. I also told him I never would have stayed up late the night before moving everything if I had known they were not coming.

I have grandchildren that stay with me and now they were going to have to go upstairs in order to use the bathroom. I was then told that when I confirmed, they were not able to schedule my installation for Tuesday so my appointment was moved to Saturday. Unbelievable. The customer service is so insincere in their apologies. This company has no concept of people's time or the inconvenience that they may cause.

I met with the salesperson on 5/25/18 and discussed whole house carpeting/padding/removing of old carpets/new tack bars if necessary/etc. I chose the best padding for the house and the standard padding for the bedrooms since there is no traffic in those rooms. He provided me with the price which I must say was very good.

My paperwork/contract states the estimated start date is 7/2/18. On 6/26/18 at 1:11 I received a message stating my installation was scheduled for 7/18/18. This was NOT what was discussed at the time of sale. I took time off that week and was very specific that it needed done that week. I was told no problem! I called the phone number on my caller ID back and spoke to a gentleman who put me on hold then transferred me to a phone number with a voicemail. No warning I was being transferred. I called back got a different gentlemen and he told me they called me the day before to schedule me for 7/2 but I never called back so I lost my spot. I advised him (very rudely I will add) that they in no way called me as my caller ID reflected on attempt by them earlier that day and that was it. Also, Xfinity logs each call that comes to my residence and they NEVER called to schedule this installation.

I was then transferred to a woman named ANN who had me on hold quite a while then continue to state they were booked on 7/2 and the earliest they could do this was 7/11. I kept explaining this does not work for me. She put me on hold to supposedly speak with the Installation Manager then came back and stated he was gone for the day. I was then asked for my permission to put my name on for the 7/11 installation to hold a place tentatively while she emailed the Installation Manager and for doing that I would get a 200.00 discount off my remaining balance. I hesitated and she said that is just a placeholder and she would PERSONALLY call me back the following day with an update. At this point I have now told my story three times to three different people and angry doesn't even cover my attitude! On 6/27/18 at 10:15 I still had not received a return call from ANN, so I called them back.

Again, had to explain the story and I was then transferred to a man who I assume was some type of Manager. He told me I have already been compensated by getting the 200.00 reduction and they would do nothing further. Like a robot he kept repeating they were booked on 7/2 and that was it. I told him (very sarcastically) that he must do this all the time in his Customer Service role because he didn't care what I had to say. He just kept repeating the same thing over and over. Finally, I said fine, install because I have no options apparently, my cancellation time frame is over (3 days) but funny I scheduled 6 weeks in advance and the call didn't come within 3 days to cancel and I do not intend to lose one penny on this transaction! Needless to say, we are not getting off on a good foot! I have printed my paperwork received and will have it in my hands when the installers come and can only pray that I have no further issues.

You feel because you are giving me a 200.00 additional discount that is good enough for the entire poor customer service provided. I also called the salesperson who helped me and never heard back from him either. Now I have to take ANOTHER day off work which will cost me more than 200.00 that they are crediting me but I guess they don't care since they do quite a business. Once this is done, I will advise family, coworkers and friends of my experience with this company and suggest they do not contact you for flooring/carpeting, etc.

Will never use or recommend! My carpet install went smoothly, professional install and nice job. The next day was tile... that never came, next day, never came, finally on day 3 of my appliances and kitchen furniture in my living room they showed, after 18 calls Friday and some prompting. They showed without all the supplies and didn’t know it was a tear up until they actually read the order, to Home Depot they went for subfloor. I’m not totally sure I even got the tile I ordered since the job was scheduled in April but I’m almost certain I ordered a lighter shade.

The tile is nice and I told them to put it in, by this time I had begun tear out myself and would have finished had I known I had two extra days rather than paying hundreds of dollars for them to do it. I was then informed they were two boxes short and had some damaged tile so they may not be able to finish! Thankfully they did finish, this is Saturday, I was told my appliances and furniture could be put back Monday, my husband took the day off to do this. There are air bubbles that have popped leaving holes throughout the grout, a gritty surface on the top of the grout in areas oh yes we also had to connect a tow strap to the installers van and pull them out of the muddy rut they made while going through the grass. I am waiting on a call to get some resolution as the man I spoke with seemed to not care that I had turned down 2 12 hours work shifts to be here because they didn’t show up the first two scheduled days... just the surface, not happy!

Permanently scarred my daughter's foot, and destroyed our landscaping over thousands of dollars. Third party contractors too. Empire immediately sent us to a third party insurance company that the installers have, that is a nightmare to deal with. Currently interviewing attorneys. This install took over three weeks for three four small rooms. They kept forgetting tape so three different crews were at my home over a month. My 6, and 8 year old daughters were injured by stepping on the tacks leading into their room that were left unhammered apparently. It's been over three months and my daughter still has a hard scar on the ball of her foot which is painful.

The first installers that came got stuck for over 4 hours on our property and caused thousands of dollars crushing our railroad ties that surround our land trying to get out. Two tow trucks had to get them off our property at 11 pm. I have been emailing corporate for three months and they finally told us to deal with a third party insurance company because the installers were third party contractors. Empire washed their hands with us. Seeing attorney now. BEWARE. INSTALLERS DO NOT WORK FOR EMPIRE!!! If something goes wrong on your property or injury, you will get the run around like us.

On Wed. June 20th, my wife took off that day to prep the rooms based on what we were informed, and also took off Thursday June 21st & Friday June 22nd. She took off because we were told this would be a 2 day install by the salesperson Austin **.

On Wednesday morning no one called to let us know what was happening, my wife a bit after 10:30am and spoke to Donte ** I believe from the warehouse in Maryland and he informed her the material had not arrived in the morning and it would arrive around 1pm so the installer can pick it up and go from there, late that afternoon my wife found out the material never arrived. The same thing took place on Friday morning and we were told they were out of stock. So, the install did not take place on Friday either, 2 days wasted, unproductive and a great deal of stress and concern. Keep in mind my wife took 3 days off work to make this a simple as possible for us.

Finally the materials arrived late Friday by this time is was too late to begin therefore the install had no other choice but to take place on Saturday. We had to cancel our Saturday plans and accommodate Empire's mishap!!! The installers arrived at 9am and left at 9pm. Needless to say this was a dissaster!!!! However I do have to commend the installers for working 12 hours straight to the point I asked them to take a break, eat and rest. They were very organized!!

The other issues are the following: cost & Austin ** the sales rep. I reached out to Austin on Thursday June 21st to inform him of the situation we were facing, he said there was nothing he can do but to call customer service. I did not accept that because customer service was not helping other than saying "We're sorry for the inconvenience".

I asked him for his manager's name & number and he refused to comply. He then asked me to send him my info ie, name & date when our appointment took place, so I did on Thursday the 21st at 5:52pm. I asked him to find out and follow up. He responded on Friday the 22nd. late into the evening and I quote "Inventory is first come first serve, which is why I tried to explain that you should have done the install sooner, we had the product when you ordered it, but when other customers order the same product in the same color and their install is set before yours, the product gets used. Unfortunately I do not monitor product inventory or handle customer complaints, I can direct you to customer service".

This is unheard of... The agreement was signed on May 31st and Empire had plenty of time to order the materials prior to the install. No excuse! The dates that were chosen were based on our availability and agenda, not Empire's agenda. Based on his comment, Empire works around their agenda not the customers. As a sales rep. he should monitor the progress and follow up with each of his installs and communicate to his clients if and when a problem has arrived.

Finally the cost: on Thursday June 21st I had spoke to Gerald (supervisor at customer service) at around 5:55pm and we agreed the final bill would be an even $5000.00 and call it a day. We both agreed and I asked him... will the installers have the correct amount when they present me the final document? Gerald confirmed that they would and all I have to do was sign and that information would then be passed to Wells Fargo who it was financed by. That did not happen... I called customer service on Saturday June 23 at 1:40pm and spoke to Brian and informed him the bill was still at $5390.96, he mentioned the bill was $5049.96, he said he would have someone call me. No one called, I had to call again at 6:25pm and spoke to Angel and had to repeat myself again, gave him all the information and he told me someone would call me on Monday June 25th.

It is now Monday June 25th and I had to call again, I spoke to Laura and she mentioned someone would call today, it's now 4:06pm and no one has called. After reading the a number of reviews, the "Out of Stock" excuse is a norm. To my understanding this happens on a regular basis and it is very consistent. My opinion with all the respect everyone deserves there seems to be no ownership. No one wants to be held accountable for their performance and would rather point the finger and blame other departments. The lack of leadership, planning and inventory control does not seem to be a priority for Empire, if it is, it surely does not reflect it at all. I would like for Empire to do the right thing, own what happen to us and fix it.

Made an appointment for between 11-1, and waited and waited. About 12:45 I contacted the live chat to ask for an update on where they were (I know these kinds of jobs run late sometimes). I was then informed that I did indeed have an appointment, but NOBODY has been assigned to it. Oh, thanks for letting me know ahead of time guys. I could have not wasted 2 hours of my life if they had been a reputable company. What if I didn't contact them? I'd have just waited and waited? Cool. They then offered me $50 off to make another appointment. I was already getting $200 off when their site offered if I made an appointment. How ironic.

My husband and I are considered loyal customers to Empire as this current project is our 3rd largest investment with them. However, appears this will be our last one as well. The project was estimated to be completed in just 1 day or a day and a half at the most due to the installation of wood floors on our stairs. However, fast forward to today, this project is still ongoing after 2 weeks due to inadequate logistical issues with their ordering of the wrong flooring and the installation crew showing up at my home with the wrong product, 2 times! Tomorrow will be their 3rd attempt! Not to mention, on at least 2 occasions the installation crew lead us to believe they could rectify the issue by coming in on a Saturday, only to find out the products weren't available for Saturday installation.

We changed our Saturday plans for them twice to accommodate Empire. I'm not even going to address the quality of the work! We have some wood floors that aren't completely glued down and they hid it under heavy boxes. The floor actually bounces in that area! These issues even continued after our discussion with the Norfolk VA management team, however, in my opinion everyone's a little too relax from my perspective especially since they stand to earn thousands of our dollars! I usually recommend folks to Empire Today as I hold them in high regard, but never again... Buyer beware... oh well my saga continues tomorrow, hopefully they'll have the right flooring this time.

We originally had Empire install laminate in our dining and living room areas. The dining room was getting badly pitted and needs to be replaced. The sales person came out and we told him we wanted the same laminate they had installed before. The 1st installers came out and had the wrong laminate and not enough materials. They tried to blame us as we were the ones who picked out the sample. I explained that we never saw samples as we wanted what was previously installed by Empire. I even gave them a leftover piece from the 1st installation so they could get it correct. One week later the 2nd installers came to my house with the exact same problem. A different laminate but, just the same not the one we wanted. Still not enough materials even if they were to have what we wanted. They made us feel like it was our fault.

I like the color and you just flowed along when you walk on it. The carpet feels soft and the linoleum kitchen floor has got the give to it too. Empire Today did a good job.

A couple of years ago, I had Empire Today install wood floors in the entire downstairs, the front living room, dining room, kitchen and back living room. In their commercial, it said that if we buy one room, we get two for free. And so we went with them. However, when I had the salesman come, he was very horrible. He was very pushy and didn’t let me make a decision. I had to make that decision in five minutes or the offer he was offering me was gonna expire. So, I had to call my ex-husband because he was splitting the bill with me and he heard the gentleman through the phone and told me to hang up the phone and tell him to leave. But I really liked the floor so I put up with it and I told the salesman that I can't pay the bill myself so my ex-husband has to agree. And he pressured me into buying from them.

The problem that I had was that I had the flooring installed but the salesman lied through his teeth because I told him that I have two dogs and two young kids at that point and the new floor is not allowed to get wet by any means. We can't leave a wet bathing suit on the floor, and in the winter time, we couldn’t leave our snow boots by the front door because it literally buckled the floors. Also, where the dogs drank their water, it was ruining my floors with any type of water. The new flooring is gorgeous, but I had to have it repaired three different times as it was bad.

There was a very nice gentleman at Empire Today. His name was Chris and he fixed the floor this time for free. I had to make sure no water ever touch the floor and make sure the children knew better to leave anything wet on the floor by the front door. We had a nice, big mat by the back door but we can just look at it and can't play with it. I was told by Chris that they don't make my floor anymore.

Overall, it was a bad experience and I'm very dissatisfied with Empire Today. Their customer service was not willing to help me at all and the only way I felt that I got help is because when I went online to Consumer Affairs. I wrote off how I felt and how I was treated by Empire. That was when I got a call from Empire and they said to me that they would fix the problem for free one time if only I would take my post down. They even sent me something that I had to sign saying that I was gonna do that, and that’s the only way that they were willing to help me. Empire is misleading and dishonest. The flooring probably isn't their fault, but I asked the salesman all these questions and he lied.

Let me start by saying that I have used this company before with perfect results. The 2nd time is when I saw how they treat their customers that have a problem. I had needed my first level floor replaced after a broken pipe had damaged my floating wood floor. I of course called Empire after being satisfied with prior work. When we signed the contracts (Feb 19, 2018) with the salesperson we handed over insurance paperwork that needed to be filled in and returned so that we could receive an insurance check to pay them. We arranged the install for 30 days later (March 19, 2018) to give them time to do the paperwork we needed. At that time we paid a deposit and then waited.

We moved all furniture off the first floor except for 7 pieces to make everything go smooth on the install date. We even took the pictures off the walls so they would not be knocked off while working. My first warning should have been that they would not give us a time for them to arrive, but instead told us if they are not there by 10am call and they will help us. That morning the install crew showed up at 8am ready to begin, but first wanted full payment for the job, $8,000. At that time I asked them what happened to the insurance paperwork and of course they did not know. I contacted the salesperson and he said he would look into it immediately and call me back. I spoke to the install supervisor and he used the same line.

At that point I was told I would need to pay or they would not install the floor. I made the mistake of paying this on a credit card thinking that once I received one of the callbacks this would be taken care of. They stayed late and finished the job that day. First thing the next morning I received a call from their customer service to follow up. I told them I was more than pleased with the job, this is 14 hours later, but I was still waiting for a callback about the payment paperwork. I was assured again that someone would be in touch with me that day (Tuesday).

You guessed it. There was no callback that day or the next. In the meantime I heard a loud pop come from my kitchen and discovered that a piece of the molding had popped up and come free from the floor. I contacted Empire on Thursday and was of course told someone would call me back. After several calls I did finally get in touch with a woman who assured me she would help with everything that had gone wrong. She informed me they could not locate the paperwork and could I please fax it to them. She also informed me that she would connect me with someone to repair the molding. She connected me to a voicemail and I left a message about the problem.

The following day I faxed the paperwork to them and waited. 2 days later I again faxed the paperwork to them. A week later I contacted the same woman and left a message for her and again received no callback. In total by this time I had been told by 7 different people that someone would call me back. I have of this date never received a call from any of these people. This led me to contact my credit card company and dispute this charge as I believe this contract was not honored and neither was the warranty. I had to go out of town for a week and upon returning home I had a FedEx envelope on my porch and when I checked my messages there had been 3 calls from an Empire customer service person. I called the number on the letter and to my surprise it went to a telemarketing company.

Thinking I had dialled wrong I tried again and again. It was late and I wanted to believe that there was a problem with the phone lines. I decided I would again call in the morning. The next day I again called the number and yes it was a wrong number that they had sent me in that letter. I then called in on the main number and asked for the woman named in the letter and was connected to her. I left a message for her again explaining all that had happened. When I returned from work the next day I received a message from her that she could not have possibly have given me the wrong number (I have the letter) and that I need to call her.

I left her another message telling her that I do not arrive home till 6 pm or later and would not be able to speak to her earlier as I have a job where I can't receive or make calls during working hours. The message that I received the next day from her was in essence telling me too bad. She stated that she only works until 5:45 and I would have to call her earlier. I tried this the next day but of course got her voicemail and did not receive a call back until the next day when I was at work. I of course returned her call again telling her that I could not do this and would need someone to help me that would call me later. I of course received a message back that said this was not possible.

I returned the call one more time asking why I can book an appointment if I call at that time and can have a salesperson come to my house after 6pm but cannot speak to anyone that could help me. Since then I have never heard back from them. At this time I now have 4 separate pieces of molding coming loose and parts of the floor that if I step on makes another part of the floor pop up. This has proven to be the worst customer service that I have ever received since I became an adult. As of this date (6/23/18) I have not received a single call nor is my floor repaired. Any further information needed about this complaint I would be free to offer to anyone that contacts me. All I can say at this point is never use Empire.

I ordered over 1300 sf of carpet and flooring from salesperson on 6/18/18 to be installed 6/25/18. I called 6/22 and Empire said they had no order for me. I called sales person who said she ordered and would let me know. It should be installed Mon and would let me know the next morning. She didn't so I called Empire back. Still they say they have no order 6/23. My paperwork shows a install of 6/25 which now cannot happen, my maid was coming 6/26 for my dinner party on 6/28. I have taken off work to be here. Had people come help me move all small items. My house is a wreck.

I guess my salesperson is overworked and just dropped the ball. What a mess. No person with customer service is able to help when they don't show a order, I have left a message with the salesperson manager. I told him I want my carpet Monday 6/25 like I was told and at least a 10 percent off discount for each day it's late, does that sound fair. I have had to spend hours on the phone and text trying to get this handled. Now I am told to wait for a call on Monday, I have had to cancel my maid service and may need to cancel my dinner party! I have had to take extra blood pressure meds and a nerve pill to try and calm down! So I am very unhappy, I hope to get a call asap!

My children had to sleep on the floors for a week because the furniture was taken apart and in the garage (until Empire decided to show up). Our first Experience with Empire Today has been horrific to say the least. They admitted to have sent in a green sales rep. that explained to us that after picking Planking Flooring for our basement was a choice - After speaking with an experienced Empire Today installer that sheet Vinyl would be a better choice for our basement. We agreed to that cost (which was not cheap) and decided that with their special that was going on to get our kitchen with the planking finished as well. Installation day came and the Contract Installer came into our home explaining that the Vinyl was not in as yet and in a couple of days it would be. They proceeded to take the balance owed for both jobs - laid the planking in the kitchen - THEN before masking basement told us that our incline in the basement would not hold firmly with Vinyl sheeting without buckle due to the incline of our drain being 2 inches - and we would have to call sales.

The installer then MASKED the floor and replied they would be back on Friday - call your salesperson. The installer left a sample of flooring less expensive as to what we would be paying for Vinyl to show sales person. Sales person comes back 2 days later and suggests 4 colors on a ring for me of Affinity plank flooring. Nothing else. I said "ok" - I picked one - he did his calculations and said we would owe another grand!!! I about fell on the floor. We feel like we were taken at this point to make more sales money for your company - not about what it's worth or making it right. I was told by their promotions department that I would have the head of installations call me to discuss the matter- NO CALL.

I then called and asked to speak to SALEs MANAGER JOE> he explained he would get with corp. office and get back to me today. I waited all day for a call. NO CALL. I then called Empire Today to reach out and no one is in to take my call. I am totally disappointed with Empire Today. I thought with the years of experience that this company holds, would not be getting the runaround. They have my money - I have NO tile in my basement. I hope someone reads this and is able to help us. My husband recently had an accident and we have been through 5 years of hell and now living with a brain injury for the rest of his life. I am the one handling this. I do not want to go to court - but believe me - I have and won't hesitate to again if pushed.

July 2016 – 1700 Sq. feet Mohawk Laminate Flooring installed through Empire Flooring for $16K, 1-year installation warranty, Lifetime product warranty. Within 3-6 months of installation started having issues with the floors. Boards separating, boards lifting up from each other, laminate peeling off - some small/some big chunks. Filed a claim with Empire Flooring in June 2017 - a woman by the name of Hannah ** was our main contact at Empire. Decision could be: product defect, installation defect, site defect (our fault). Floors inspected 3 times over the next 8 months. 2 inspectors through Empire Flooring, 1 inspector paid for by Mohawk Flooring. Empire Flooring submitted claims to Mohawk Flooring twice (2). Mohawk Flooring rejected both claims stating it was site defect (aka our fault).

I asked to see the Mohawk Flooring’s inspectors report. Was told no by Hannah at Empire Flooring – Per Mohawk Flooring “I didn’t pay for the inspector therefore I had no right to see the report.” Empire decided they would pull up all the flooring, replace only the damaged boards and relay all 1700sq feet of flooring at no cost to us. Replacement of damaged boards began early February 2018. Installers did not pull up all the flooring as I was told by Empire Flooring. Installers missed areas where boards were still damaged. Boards that were replaced had laminate peeling off the same day as the reinstall. Called Hannah at Empire Flooring and informed them of this. I told Hannah at Empire Flooring the flooring was defective, I wanted all the flooring removed and replaced with different flooring.

Hannah at Empire Flooring came back and said no - that’s all they could do – they’ve already gone above and beyond the call of duty by replacing the damaged boards at no cost to us. Hannah at Empire Flooring said I could pick different flooring and have it installed at an “up cost” to us. I told Empire Flooring “you’re replacing defective flooring with defective flooring.” After doing more research on Empire Flooring and Mohawk Flooring, I realized I am 1 of many consumers who feel that they were sold defective flooring but that Empire and Mohawk always lays the blame on the customer and do the absolute minimum to correct the problem(s). To this very day, we have flooring where boards are lifting up from each other and laminate peeling off in small and big chunks. I will be contacting the Colorado Attorney General, Consumer Protection Agency and an attorney.

Rod was here four days and is still not done.

They sent others with less experience to help, They were no help. I had to go through father's day weekend with unfinished floors. We had Empire Today install both laminate and carpet for us. We liked having the samples at their store and choosing from the stuff that was laid out before us instead of running back and forth. They were also fairly competitive on the cost and quality all the way through. We picked out on what we liked and just took them. Then they installed the laminate in the dining room and the living room, and the carpet was put in on the front porch area. Though we got good quality of work and service, we also had a very mixed experience with them.

We had a little confusion on a part of it when we had a few problems out of the warehouse getting the right size of the cut and I just didn’t like the idea that I couldn’t get to anybody. There should be somebody in the corporate headquarters and I wanted something where I get to talk to somebody and go down the line instead of going to the same spot all the time. Despite this issue, we were very satisfied overall. We just had the breakdown and we ended up having a very good manager at the warehouse who got us out of trouble. Everything went smoothly and got things going.

After a long discussion, we decided to call Empire regarding new vinyl flooring. The rep was very professional (the best part of our experience). We had our new floor installed April 9. The installers instructed us that when if we noticed any lifting of the floor edges, to step on them. After 3 weeks of "stepping on the edges/corners" and the vacuum catching on the floor, we called. A time was set up for June 4th. I stayed home from work, waited ALL day, and no one called or showed. Called Empire on June 5. We got a contact number for Floyd, an assistant repair worker. Floyd personally said that "someone would be out June 14." I stayed home from work, when no one called like Floyd said they would be, I called Empire (11 am). They did confirm that "I was scheduled, and someone would be there on this day". 4pm, no one showed-this is now the second time.

I called Empire, again. My husband called the rep we had. On June 15, we were assured for a third time, "that someone will be out to repair your floor." The third date set up was June 21. June 21, was advised that someone would be here. At 4pm, we called Empire, again! I asked to speak to the CEO. I was transferred to their office and spoke with a lady. She advised me that, "this person can help you with your concerns." At this point, I am now requesting a partial refund of our very very poorly installed floor! OUR COMPLAINTS:

    1. Three different dates set for a repair person to come to our home. No one came, or even called to say they weren't coming. 2. I missed 3 days of work/time WAITING on someone to show up. 3. Moved furniture, and "all breakable items"-3 TIMES NOW. 4. HAD to call and call to get NOTHING in return-still don't have a date of repair and a floor the looks like crap. 5. To DIANA **, I promise if this happened to you, you would be mad as heck!!! I left a message for you, this situation needs rectified ASAP. WE WANT OUR $8000.00 FLOOR FIXED! Honestly, what we have is not the quality of $8000.00. I have also requested an itemized billing statement. IF we have been overcharged or there are any questions regarding what we had installed, I will contact an attorney about my complaint.

To begin all their advertising is a scam. They offer the lowest quality for the advertised price once they are in your house to measure. In our case after reluctantly ordering they canceled morning of installation. We already rearranged our entire house and they cancel morning of! They reschedule for later in the week. Instead of being a priority we were pushed to an afternoon appointment. After dealing with being put on hold for almost an hour each time we called we finally got a terrible apology. They finally show up at close to 2 pm to do a 6 hour job and realize they measured wrong the first time and they don't have enough rug! Empire Today was running a 50-50 special and I got carpeting from them. My floor is done in my kitchen but my carpet in the den, which is a big area, has some ripples in it so I’m gonna have to have it restretched. I used to lay carpet back in the day when I was younger. The guy that came and laid it had used a knee kicker instead of a wall-to-wall stretcher. I called Empire and they were supposed to send somebody out to look at it. And I talked to a rep about a couple of days later and she said, “I’d imagine it’s gonna be $150 to restretch it.” So I said, “Never mind.” They didn’t really do it properly, so I’m gonna get a wall-to-wall stretcher from the Home Depot and do it myself. Other than that, I was very satisfied with Empire.

Purchased my carpet from Empire Today. Picked out the best carpet they sold and had it installed. I have been having "matting problems" for about a year. I called them and was told it was too late to complain. About two weeks later I called again and they said I needed to supply receipts for cleaning. I told them that I cleaned the carpet myself at the end of each year (twice in two years). I then had to submit pictures of the matted areas. Of which I did. I supplied the name of my Bissell carpet cleaner and model. They once again told me that the manufacturer required receipts. I then went out and spent $122.00 to have the carpet recleaned. They told me finally that they would have to check with the carpeting manufacture to see if my carpet shampoo machine would be approved. They came back and told me it was not. And cannot do anything.

Nowhere in the warranty does it specify it has to be professionally cleaned or give instructions as to which carpet shampooer can be used. It seems that Empire Today's only care about the sale and that is where it ends. They let the manufacture rule without backing the customer at all. They go through the motions and that is where it ends!! I now have to replace the carpet after two years and paying over $1500.00 for a single room. BE AWARE OF EMPIRE TODAY!!! THEY ARE NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY AFTER THE SALE!! BUYER BE AWARE!!

Updated on 07/11/2018: Please see my review for Empire Today on June 20th 2018. They responded on June 21st that they were looking into the matter. This is VERY FAR FROM The TRUTH, as they have never responded to me at all!!! BE WARY OF Empire Today as they DON'T Protect the customer AT ALL!

Well here we set, still looking at our old carpet! No one showed up, just like the reviews warned us. Then we call and get the runaround and tons of excuses. SO disappointed! Oh and the price they quoted... we were told it's going to be more money because the salesperson quoted us a price on the wrong type of flooring... give me a break!

Updated on 06/25/2018: So after we were told the contract was no good... which I never heard of canceling a contract (a month after it was signed) but obviously these people can. We get another man to our house who quotes us $6000.00 to do 4 rooms in a double wide modular home. We figured it out to be $7.50 a square foot. Sorry fellows but Lowe's can do the job for less than 1/2 the price you gave us and about my other review where someone responded, that they would be contacting me... Never happened! But I'm not shocked. The right hand really doesn't know what the left hand is doing when it comes to this company. I am still receiving calls to confirm my canceled contract. I was under a time constraint to have one room of carpet replaced. My experience with Empire in the past was that they were ridiculously expensive so I wasn't going to call them but they were the only ones that could get it done the next day. Their rep, Danielle came out and took measurements and because of pet stains assured me they would both remove the furniture and treat the concrete under the carpet before putting new carpet down. So I figured the $720 price tag for some cheap crappy plush carpet was worth it given that I only have one day to get the job done.

The guys, Flavio and Philipe, two of the nicest and hardest-working gentleman I have ever seen, showed up the next day and showed me that Danielle's measurements were wrong by a foot or two in either direction. It took them an hour and a half just to calculate whether or not the carpet would work. When the carpet was up they were getting ready to lay the pad and I asked them about the concrete treatment and they had no idea what I meant. I explained it all and they asked me if I had anything they could use to put down on the concrete. I was incredulous but I actually had something and then they asked me if I had a mop to apply it.

All this time I had called Danielle at least five times and she never got back to me. It took them over 6 hours to do a job that they said should have taken one hour. I have not one complaint about the guys or their work but the fact that this was not done the way it was sold to me and that neither Danielle nor her manager ever bothered to call me back means I will never ever even consider calling this company again. It is 3 days since the installation and they still have not called me.

I purchased Luxury Vinyl Planking back in October for my living area which also encompasses the dining area and a hallway. There had been the original carpet down and having a new baby I wanted something that was easier to clean and more sanitary for him. The rep came out and was very pleasant to work with. I wanted something that was durable, waterproof and nice looking. I have the LVP (which I had purchased from Home Depot) in my bathroom and love it because it looks like real wood. When I saw the samples, I thought they were nice but they were so small and it was difficult to really see the quality of them. I had gone to other stores and actually seen the full sample so this was a little odd to me. I also checked out two local places and both had many other samples to choose from.

But what really got me to go with Empire was the price and the fact that they had a long warranty on the product (which ended up being matched later on by a local competitor but since I had already signed with Empire there was nothing I could do). I scheduled an installation for a Friday, took off work and waited for them to call me. By 9 AM I hadn't heard anything so I called and no one knew anything. Then they told me that my product was out of stock. I'm not sure why they didn't tell me this ahead of time, and it not only inconvenienced me but I had to take additional time off of work for their screw up. They compensated me practically pennies for my time. It was comical in the grand scheme of it all. It cost me over 4k and they gave me like $100 or something. The installers came to my house the following week, showed me the product which looked like those cheap flimsy sliding door blinds.

At this point I wasn't sure what to do and convinced myself that it would look better once they installed it. When they were finished I went to look but they seemed in a hurry so I thanked them and they left. Before they left, they told me that I have to be careful with the floor because it will scratch. I got a call from an Empire rep about the installation and I told her it was ok, and told her about the scratching the installer mentioned. She said "It should get better with time." That made absolutely no sense to me, how could a product get stronger? But ok. Looking around I was disappointed I had spent 4k on this floor, but figured I would give it a chance.

But there are several major issues with this product and the installation. There is a noticeable dip going from our bedrooms to the living area. My son has actually fallen when crawling when he reaches that area because of the dip. They also were supposed to provide a piece for the area where my kitchen floor and this floor meet. They didn't. The gap between my kitchen floor and this flooring is noticeable enough that dirt is constantly getting underneath there but I can't actually get to it. (That area I had mentioned to the installers before they left and the guy just shrugged his shoulders at me.) The floor is all scratched from my SON'S TOYS! How cheap does the quality have to be to be scratched by plastic toys and a 16lb child pushing them around? The floor is constantly bouncing and it looks weird in some areas. Almost like crinkled paper when it gets wet. I don't know what that is.

My floor from Home Depot? Still in great shape and looking beautiful. I regret every day not taking the offer from my local store. Their products are beautiful and high quality. I'm still paying so much money for this horrible floor that I hate. I would rather have no floor than this floor. Empire please come take this junk back and put me out of my misery. Throw it in the garbage where it belongs.

When we bought this house, all the floors were carpeted except for the hallways and the entry hall. The Realtor knew somebody who put hardwood floors in and we had him do those, but that was 10 years ago. I have no idea if he's still around. So, when I saw Empire Today in the phonebook, I decided to go with them. The rep that came out was so good with all the stuff. She showed us everything and took things into the room to look how it would match other floors. It all went very well.

Empire Today called and said when the installer would be here. Immediately after, they called back and said that something had happened to the fellow and couldn’t do it that day, but they would be here the next day. And sure enough, they called the next morning and said that the fellow that’s gonna do it is on his way. I had them install a vinyl floor in the bedroom. It looks like hardwood, and it was a lot cheaper. It was shocking how fast the installer got in and out and did such a great job, and everything faultlessly got through. My husband uses a walker and he had ruined the carpet. It was marked up badly. But this floor doesn’t show any of it. It looks so pretty. Once in a while, if he turns the walker really fast, it makes a little mark and it comes right off.

    Original Review: June 16, 2018

I purchased carpet and PVP flooring, it was installed on 5/5/18. I have since decided to redecorate the bathroom with the LVP, including replace the vanity. I was notified by the contractor doing the bathroom that the flooring was not placed under the vanity. One of the reasons I decided to use LVP was the water resistance, now if the sink leaks, water can get under the new flooring. First the contractor contacted Empire Today on my behalf in an attempt to purchase more flooring for under the vanity area and was told they did not sell the flooring nor do partial room installs.

Today I called Empire Today to speak with customer service and waited on hold 45 minutes, during which time I went to the website and chatted with Jose who filled out a service request for me. They will call within 3 business days. I'm not confident that this will occur. Just for comparison I then called back to see if I was interested in getting a quote for new flooring how long the wait would be and my call was picked up on the first ring. To me this speaks volumes about their customer service values.

And I was told they will come 5-7 days to come and rectify the issue. So I had to PAY someone else to come out to fix the issue. There's a reason why we have a toilet... to use it. The 2nd issue we had, the laminate started to bubble up at the entrance of my coat closet. They came to fix the issue. And the 3rd and worse issue I have is my floor squeaks when you walk on it. Yes. Squeaks.

I called and they came out and took pics, recorded the squeaking when you walk throughout the house. Yes. Every room squeaks. They trimmed the edge of the laminate at the wall, and said it will go away... in a month or so. Whaaat. This is not what I paid for. So like a dummy, I waited a week. And the whole bottom floor STILL SQUEAKS. I called AGAIN. They said the reason why it squeaks is because water must of spilled or whatever we use to clean the floor. The SALESPERSON who came told me the floor is SCRATCH PROOF, AND WATERPROOF. NOOO. I have scratches on my floor by moving the couch, and my dog. And I have kids. That's why I PURCHASED WATERPROOF. The lady I called told me, they can replace my floor with a discount... I PAID FOR A FLOOR ALREADY. Why do I need to pay for ANOTHER floor.

We had luxury vinyl plank installed in our whole downstairs except the kitchen yesterday. We were so excited and it quickly turned into a nightmare. Our sales representative told us that the LVP could be placed right over our hardwood which was true, but he failed to inform us that it would be a different level from the areas that were carpeted. The installers informed us of this and we of course wanted our floors one level. Because of this, the hardwood had to be removed and Empire right off the bat charged us an extra $300, though this was not quoted or communicated at the time of sale. We felt very misled.

In addition, we are very unhappy with multiple pieces of our flooring. Our toilet was unable to be reinstalled and we are having to call in a plumber. Quarter round was used at every door entrance, which is going to get incredibly dirty. Transition pieces (that really don’t even match) were used at two of three entrances in our kitchen, but the third, white quarter round was used. Under our door frames, huge spaces were left where the hardwood was before installation. These are all issues that should be able to be fixed that we are now having to go through and deal with. We expected an easy process and for the entire project to be completed yesterday but now we are having to deal with after effects and inconsistency throughout our floor. What we were hoping was going to be a good investment in our home has become incredibly disappointing and we are very upset with our purchase from Empire.

A day or two later I received a phone call from a man identifying himself as Marcus saying the carpet was in overstock & we could get it for $3173…about $216 savings. Dad & I agreed, and Brian came out with a ‘change of order’ form to sign, where it clearly states in writing that the new price was $3173. That day, my dad put down the $330 deposit, and scheduled the installation for that Friday morning.

By this time, it was documented on paper and at the corporate office that my roommate & I work nights, but they said they’d start Friday morning as long as one of us could run home and do the walk-through afterward. They were supposed to be here BY 9am, but got a call from Scott—the warehouse manager—that there were problems at the warehouse and it could be an hour longer. I said that was not a problem as it would give me an extra hour to rest. He then calls close to 11am & said “we are going to do a short little job first and be at your place by 3pm”. Told him the latest one of us could be wait would be 1:30, & asked why we were getting pushed back (a surprise b-day dinner for my roommate was scheduled for that Sat. night). He placed the blame on ME saying I told him I needed to sleep. Skip forward a few arguments and it is agreed they would be at the house by 10am Sat. morning.

I finally called him at noon wondering where they were, & he said they called many times AND came to the house but no one answered. I believe one of his exact statements were “my drivers can’t waste their day because you can’t get up on time. The warehouse is closed now.” I had NO missed calls & our security camera showed no one EVER at our door. Naturally I was now VERY upset, & when he kept saying they called, I finally said “THAT IS ABSOLUTE BS” (though I used the actual words). He then started in with “I do not have service you if you’re going to yell and cuss at me!” He said that several times before I literally began to laugh & said “sir, I said ONE cuss word, and based on the lies you keep telling, I’m surprised that’s ALL I’ve said!" (Our sales rep later verified there was NEVER even a job order for Saturday!)

At this point I wanted to cancel, but they already had $338, so though Scott lied AGAIN, we agreed to do it Sunday. We literally stayed up all night, then watched as the truck stopped 2 houses down. We waved them back to our house where the crew leader said they had come to the house the day before—until we showed him the security camera. He back-tracked REAL fast at that point. So they get started & the lead tells me I need to call an 800# to give the rest of my payment. I did, and then had to write in a code given to me by the person I spoke with, that verified my payment went through. The carpet was installed (nice guys there too, but only 1 spoke English)...then I wake up Monday to FIVE voicemails from Scott saying my payment was either bogus or had non-sufficient funds!

So on top of that insult, I looked at my card transactions, & they charged $3150.10—over $215 what was owed! So in a nutshell, The complaint number I was given when I called to tell someone about Scott’s words/actions were supposed to be followed up by a “customer care representative” & never was, and now that they owe me $216.10, I can’t seem to get a single person to A) Call me back in the 24 hours promised & B) after refusing to get off the phone until I talk to a manager this 3rd day, found out there was no record of a guy named Marcus giving me the discount, despite the ‘change of order’ copy I have in hand, signed by my sales rep! If I do not hear from them in the next 12 hours giving me the refund, I will take this to The Better Business Bureau. This place is too big to get decent customer service. Their right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing, so you are constantly caught up in red tape if you have a problem.

They replaced the entire floor based on all the mistakes now to our satisfaction and offered a % discount.

Zero stars... Floor installation happened in February. A job took they said would take a day took 2 days and on a school night at my house until 11pm, they still didn't have enough material to finish. Upon further review, many of the pieces were installed incorrectly and transition and flooring boards were not the right color. They then scheduled and didn't show up to 2 appointments to fix and then we escalated to a higher manager level. They came out in May and noted all the issues and scheduled the fix for Memorial Day weekend also saying that the same incompetent installer would not be handling this.

We changed our family plans to be available on Saturday but the installer called and said he received the order this morning and his partner was on vacation and they couldn't make it -- it was also the same incompetent installer we were told would not be involved. The manager then called to say that WE cancelled the appointment. Came out again to fix a month later with same incompetent installer who has now installed wrong color floor so we have half a cherry floor, 3 different thresholds style that look absurd next to each other and they left all the staples sticking out of the quarter round which is dangerously for my dog and kids. Still not resolved after 4 months of them not being able to complete a job and lying about completing the job.

I had Empire Today install carpet in my home where I have an attached cottage. I went with Empire because I felt they were the best. The installation people were amazing. They were quick, easy, and was in and out. If someone would ask me about Empire Today, I'd tell them to go for it.
