We had carpeting done at my house through Empire Today. I had it in my whole upstairs, bedrooms, living room and dining room. In my aunt’s house, we had it installed in her patio. The installation took a while, hours, but the team was very nice. I got a multi-color carpeting in a brown base and I like the feel of it. I'm very satisfied.

I selected Empire Today over the others for their better price and quality. I had some flooring and carpet installed and it was an excellent installation experience. Also, I like the color and durability of the flooring.

Empire Today installed my carpet a few years ago and I was satisfied with it. Recently, I had them put in wood-like flooring as well. I had the flooring installed in two bedrooms. The young man who came out was professional and made me feel easy. I like the color of the flooring and the way that it was put in. It was piece by piece. I was satisfied with the way it looks and the time that it took for the guy to put it in. He has done it very well. I would tell others that Empire Today is a reputable and very good company to go with.

Made an appt. for an in home estimate. Appt. was confirmed. They were to be there between 11 and 1 p.m. They were no call no show so I called. The person who answered the phone put me on hold and called the rep. He did not answer. She offered me $50.00 off my purchase. I declined. I would not do business with a company who can't even get to their first appt. Don't waste your time calling.

Today, August 31st I have been given the runaround for the second week. Installers have an excuse each time they can't come. When I spoke to a representative last week, she guaranteed the installation today for carpet in my master bedroom. I specifically told her that my new bedroom furniture will be delivered on Sept 1st, now I STILL do not have carpet, I will never recommend anyone to Empire carpet!!!

I was presented with Empire's wooden flooring, which was on sale at that time. I had it installed in the living room and the bedroom. I had carpet before and the wooden floor is easier to clean. I like it and I'd recommend this company.

Empire did my wood floor in my living room. So, when I needed a tile in the kitchen, I went with them again. I like the color of the tile flooring that matches our wood floor and the installation process was great. I would tell my friends to go with Empire because the people that they send out to install the flooring are quick, professional, and on time.

I had Empire Today install a carpet upstairs and it was a very good experience. I didn’t have to do the actual bedrooms except for one room and I wanted everything to match and Empire Today had the same carpeting that I wanted. I first used Empire in New York years ago and they did a good job. The second time was down here when we first bought the house. But the guys who put the carpeting in were not that skilled. So when I had Empire come back the third time after we finished the renovation, they made sure that the guys who came here were very good.
Empire Today has to have people coming into homes that know what they’re doing. They have to rip bad carpeting and it’s not good and leaves a bad taste in the consumer’s mouth. But because I voiced that to Empire the second time, they really stepped up to the plate, and I was very happy about that. People should make sure to let Empire know that they want skilled people as that is important, especially in Florida. Overall, Empire's price is right and their guys do their job quickly.

We called Empire to come out to give my 82 year old mother in law an estimate on flooring. The sales person came out and showed her the product/price and we decided to go with them based on the info that they gave us for the complete job. Once the Installers showed up and asked to be paid in full ahead of starting the job or they couldn’t start so we reluctantly paid and they began to remove up the carpeting and then told us that it needed an additional $930 to level out the floor which we declined.
When I called Empire to question this I was told that the details are in the small print in the contract she signed which was never discussed by the sales agent that came out to give her the estimate. In fact while she was signing the contract on an iPad with a broken stylus he was showing her pictures of some wedding that he attended am sure now as a distraction to confuse a elderly person when presented with a contract to sign. And it was never discussed by the sales agent that came out. When trying to explain this to customer service they were very rude and matter-of-fact at that point I told installers to get out, leave. Stop payment on check. This is a evil Company that prey on the elderly. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.
Doug, we regret to hear about yours and your mother's experience. We've located your account, and we'll be looking into this right away.

Our old carpet was 13 years old and it needed to be replaced in the bedroom, living room and the closets. Our sales person was friendly and helpful and assured us that we were replacing our carpet with the same carpet we had so the house would look uniform. We removed the furniture each room for the installation team as requested so they could install the carpet into the empty rooms. The installation team came and installed the carpet. However, there was an issue with the installation. The team cut some carpet wrong and had to come back the next day to finish the closet because they did not have enough to finish the closet. The installation was complete and I paid them $1,700 dollars. The carpet looks crushed and worn after only two years which is strange given that there are only two people in the house and no dogs. Our old carpet withstood a dog, two kids and their friends and my husband and I.
About a month ago, we noticed that the carpet appeared to be wrinkling in several places. This signals that the installation was done incorrectly. The carpet we had for 13 years never wrinkled. We called Empire and they told us that they would come and fix it for about 200 dollars. They were not interested in looking at the issues, they just wanted the additional money to fix it. We declined given that we already paid them several hundred dollars to install the carpet which is now faulty. We have concerns that this wrinkling will continue and we will need to keep paying them to come out. Buyer beware - you might pay almost $2,000 dollars for a carpet that will likely need to be replaced if the carpet cannot be fixed or if they damage the tile in the kitchen floor which is attached to the living room. Do yourself a favor...contact another organization to help you.

Nothing but a nightmare. Measured incorrectly, sent one guy to install & was too much so instead of one day install it was days. No one knows what they are doing. Scheduling is a huge problem & absolutely no customer service. 3 months after final installation my laminate started buckling. Took weeks & us getting the local new station calling them to finally get the repair scheduled. They rarely answer their phone & when they did they said they were waiting on materials. Took them 3 weeks to get 2 boxes of laminate. Then we find out they did not install a moisture barrier under the padding so the laminate was wet & is now stacked in my driveway. Overpaid for these floors to only have 3 months & they didn’t even haul them away. The previous laminate had been down over 5 years with no problems. Replaced due to remodel, moving a wall & wanted a lighter color.
After paying Empire $7500.00 for floors I only had 3 months we are having a reputable company install new floors. The installer asked me which way to lay the planks. He was going to lay them short way in the hall. Needless to say Empire is not trying to make this right, they are blaming us & not reimbursing us for our expense & their mistake. Why would they not install a moisture barrier?? NEVER use them.

Empire Today had a good deal that was going on. It was cheaper than anyone else I've looked at. So we had two rugs installed in bedrooms of the same size. While the carpet installed in the second room was perfect, one of the gentlemen came back and he had to straighten the carpet on the first room ‘cause it started to buckle in two places. Despite my experience, when I get ready to get my last room done, I’ll use Empire Today again.

Going with Empire Today was a better value than with the other brands I considered so I did. It was brief and reasonable with Empire's sales reps. The guy showed me the carpet sample and I picked out the one I wanted. It was very easy. I had carpeting installed in my own bedroom and the installer did an excellent job. There was some damage to the nail boards underneath and he replaced those. Also, it's nice to have fresh, new carpet. If anyone asks, I would tell them to go ahead and use Empire.

People should call Empire Today before they call anybody else because they're not gonna get a better deal. When I gave Empire Today a call to see what they would say, Frank was very helpful. He showed me so many things. I said, "Now, you got me confused." I told him that I have a dog who's a real pet and he suggested something unscratchable. I got the hardwood and it's beautiful. It does great in terms of cleaning too. I haven't wet it yet. I just take it up with a dry mop and it cleans very nicely.
Plus when the guys came to install, they asked me which way I wanted the flooring installed or what way to run it. I said I didn't know and they told me what way it was supposed to be. I said, "All right." And they did a wonderful job. Once they had started, they only stopped and had to drink water. They didn't take lunch and went right back to work. They worked from 9:00 o’clock in the morning to 7:30 at night. I was really overwhelmed by them. In fact, they did such a good job that I want the same guys back for two other bedrooms rooms that I want done.

Worst experience. Wasted my two hours in prime evening time. I simply need an estimate but when I went online to book to get scheduled, only 4 days later time was available. I booked it anyway since I had a good experience with before. Unlike the previous experience, no one had called me to confirm. So I called an hour before the scheduled window, asking around what time the rep will be arriving. 1st customer service personnel tried to call the rep but couldn't reach, so she said she left a message to call me. No one called next 30 mins, so I call back.
2nd customer service personnel said she will try to call the rep and then she hangs up on me. So I call back. 3rd customer service personnel said he cannot locate my appointment in the system, I was on the phone for 20 mins and finally he got through the rep but wouldn't tell me when he will be arriving, instead just telling me he is on the route so I specifically told the customer service personnel to tell the rep to call me at least 10 mins before arriving. 10 mins later I get a phone call from my front desk of the apartment that the guy is there.
I was right outside getting something to eat and told them to open the door for him since I am coming right back, the rep told the people that he is leaving and when I got there, they said, he just didn't want to go into the apartment. Empire calls me to reschedule the appointment because rep left...??? And says they gave me 30 mins warning? No one has contacted me about the appointment. I had to call so many times to find out when the rep is coming out. And when the rep actually came, he didn't have any decency to call me to tell me even though the front desk guy told him I was coming right back, and he knows that I have been trying to get in touch to know when exactly he will be arriving.
The rep basically came and left within 1 min. knowing I have been waiting but stepped out for a few mins. And the customer service who called to reschedule kept telling me that they have a record of giving 30 min. warning? No one called me to let me know that. Such horrible waste of my 4 days of waiting to get this estimated. So not as all the good reviews and experience I had so far. Such big disappointment. Will never ever recommend to anyone.

We have a townhouse, and we had Empire install carpets on the entire upstairs and the living room downstairs. We also had them install blinds. We considered a couple of other companies, but our daughter recommended Empire. She was satisfied with them and we thought that was good enough for us. Chris, the salesman, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We had issues with painting and had to work around a bunch of things, and Empire Today was very flexible with us.
The people that installed the carpet were fantastic. They were very personable, professional, efficient, and hardworking. All three of them acted as if they were installing the carpet in their own homes. We were very satisfied with them. The floor is nice and the people who have visited have remarked that they liked it. The only thing was when the blinds were installed, my wife noticed that one of them had a tear on the lower right-hand corner. The installers marked it down. That was in June and we haven’t heard anything about the replacement blind.

After tearing up old carpets in three rooms and spending days convincing hubby to call Empire, he finally did yay! They were scheduled! And I had plans of slipping in all the other floors on the entire first floor with the order since hubby was on board. They were coming this past Saturday between 1-3. So excited until 3:30 and no one came or called or anything. We called Empire and they just said, "oh well then let's get you rescheduled for next week." NO. How about accommodating us with someone that night or next day or next two days but a week more after staying home all day waiting. No one would have even called!
Then when my hubby called they showed we canceled... What??! Then they apologized saying they had that wrong. They were to have someone call us as to why no one showed but no such call came. I would have had 2500 sq ft of flooring business but instead we have chosen to go somewhere else for the fear of scheduling, purchasing, and then to have them not show again. If I Were them, I would have done my best to get someone out there that same day to save the sale but hey they're big. They don't need us right. Right? Hmmm. Two words Empire CUSTOMER RELATIONS.

We are a small therapy suite business and I have two large suites consisting of 3 waiting rooms, 15 offices and conference room which were to be carpeted. If you want a short summary of our experience, just re-read the title, from here on it's long. First the good things: a) the price was reasonable; b) the sales rep was patient with us early on while samples were being chosen as several people had to weigh in; c) according to my operations manager, the installers (when they came) worked hard and did a good job. The carpet does look very nice. For these reasons, and at the urging of the ops mgr, I am giving 2 stars. If it were totally up to me as the boss, I'd give them 1 star.
Between the time the samples were chosen and the contract signed, I had many questions and it took weeks to get them clarified: what is the timeline for ordering the carpet, how soon can it be installed, how many offices are done in a given time frame, how long with the entire job take, will the crew work on Saturday? I had to relocate people in the offices so it was a complicated task with many moving parts. This was annoying and stressful, but ultimately resolved. They would work 9-5 on Thursday through Saturday and I would pay for extra freight elevator service in our building on Saturday. The rep informed us (in an email) that we would also need our ops mgr on site to supervise and assist with moving furniture (each office had couch, two chairs, desk/table and some file cabinets or bookshelves). Ok, no problem.
The day before the job, we were even contacted by their "helpful walk through" specialist who reviewed and confirmed the above. Thursday morning, the crew showed up (after 10:30) and adamantly refused to move any furniture. They also were requiring that we have at least 3 offices cleared out before they'd even get out of their truck. The sales rep, who we contacted, denied saying that we only had to supervise and assist with the move, saying we went over this many times. No one else was contact-able to resolve this. You might guess, that of course one of the crew offered to make an exception and help us out for say, $2000 under the table. (Empire, should I name names at any point? Just let me know!) My ops mgr negotiated him down to $1000 just so the job could proceed.
Sadly, I felt stuck on a tight time-frame so patient appointments wouldn't be disrupted any more than they already were with the relocations of therapists, couldn't reach a manager at Empire, so I wrote the check. It was now after 1:00 before the work began, and about 3 offices were done when they left the first day. Second day was a full day. I'm relieved. Saturday they were late again and didn't get started until after 11, citing "problems picking up the carpet at the warehouse" and by end of day the job was not nearly done though they had a larger crew. Do they know I'm a therapist? Are they toying with my feelings? My ops mgr insisted they return Sun and they did, but the head of the crew complained that it was hard to get anyone to come to work, and the 2 helpers were not the same guys as the other days. I'm not even certain they actually worked for Empire at this point.
At 4:15 the carpet is all laid and I was appreciative of that. However, as they were working on two floors simultaneously, the ops mgr could only supervise so much, so boxes he had labeled for certain rooms ended up in other rooms, practically impossible to find, and at least 4 smaller office and the large conference room could not be returned to their original state in time for Monday work. So now I have an additional $1000 of extortion money, another $1250 to run the freight on Sun, overtime for the ops mgr, and salary for him and another mover to come back again to finish organizing the offices.
Funny thing, I'd tried to use Empire over 10 years ago to do work in the same suite. When their reps never showed up, I crossed them off the list and went with a private company. A decade later, I thought I'd give them another try. I should have known better. It's hard for people to change ingrained patterns of incompetency and disorganization. Unless they want to come to therapy and work on it. You have my number, Empire.

We had Empire Today install laminate wood through the whole house, and the guy who installed it did a wonderful job. We really like the whole thing, including the combination of the quarter round and the molding that he put down. It is really nice and it makes each room look larger. Yesterday, however, I was thinking about filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. We have this large wall unit with a TV inside. We also had a lot of shelves and other things in there. Empire Today told us we would have to pay $150 for them to move it. We paid the $150 and it was included in the whole cost. However, when the time came for them to move it, there was a lot of electrical things in there that needed to be taken apart.
They said we’d have to take it apart and we’d also have to reinstall it. We are elderly people, and there was no way we could have done that. We decided not to have it moved and they would install around it. In the meantime, they owe us $150. We’ve gone back and forth with it and they lied to us several times. They said Wells Fargo was gonna rewrite it, but there was no way they were gonna rewrite that because Empire already had the money. We’re still waiting for our $150. Also, we are paying finance fees on it and we don’t like that.
Marion, we're sorry to hear that your accommodation has not been received. We thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We'll be in touch with you shortly to discuss a solution, thank you.

Well I am sitting here after making all arrangement for carpet installation. Took day off. Got care for dogs. Removed all furniture... Installer comes with carpet about 4 shade lighter than I ordered. I spent about two hours with the consultant making sure I was receiving a brown carpet not caramel, not mauve, we matched the sample to my brown ottoman to make sure it was brown. Well carpet comes looks more taupe than brown and is extremely thinner than sample. I call to notify them and the women who helped me choose the carpet and tile calls back. I began with, "I know it’s not your fault but the sample does not match the carpet that came." I reminded her about the conversation we had about my concerns of getting brown, that’s when she raised her voice and said, "Are you blaming me." and I mean in a really rude and very defensive voice. Then goes to say, "You will never get a carpet to match the sample," still in a angry and rude tone.
Now for tile the carpet was to be installed after tile so they wouldn’t have to step over new carpet. I get a call that the carpet is coming before tile. I call and that was easy fix but the tile grout was not sealed. The operator kept putting me on hold and coming back with different excuses then tells me the grout has a sealer in it. I am looking at the bag of grout. It says sealer needed. I know no one is perfect but it seems they are more concerned with making excuses rather than say, "Ok we will help fix it." The grout is also very much lighter. I ordered silver and got white! So here I wait for someone to call me about my concerns.

The customer service people were RUDE and told me that there was NO lifetime warranty against scratches or fading! Great! I would never use them again!!! The salesman LIE to you and put this so called LIFETIME Warranty just to make you think if anything happens they will rush out and replace it! NOT THE CASE!!!

Empire came to lay a wood floor. Took my payment first for over $3000. 20 minutes later they said they couldn’t lay the floor. (Subfloor old.) So I called and said they better not put debit payment through. They assured me they did not. Few hours later, I looked online and they did!!! Called numerous times and they lie and give me the runaround. Going to call all the tv stations in Milwaukee.

Garrett ** is his name and his text response after we complained was "That is **". Are you serious? I have special needs relatives and do not appreciate that remark. He is no help and the only thing offered to make this right for a job that is still not done was a $50 refund? Totally ridiculous. The installers that I had here did not speak English, so I did not know what they were talking about. However, they cleaned up after themselves and put the furniture back. Also, I have a spot in my kitchen that I do not quite understand. It is a dip, so I have to call them to find out what is going on. Other than that, they did a wonderful job. I will recommend them.

Years ago, I had Empire Today do my floor and they did a great job. Because of that, I called them again. However, this time around, my experience was not good. The guy who came here told me that he had to go home and he came back hours later. He also left a forstner. Then, there were three things that were wrong. My rug is all choppy where the molding is supposed to be. Then, the molding doesn't match the floor. They took away my good saddle for my door and they gave me a piece of garbage. I could also see my basement coming up.
After six months, some of the issues got fixed but some of them still aren't. My rug is still chucked. I sent Empire pictures and they sent three guys over. Nobody spoke English and all they did was take pictures. Nobody got anything resolved. Then finally, one guy came. He saw the problem and he told Empire what it was. Empire was supposed to come and give me a new piece of molding but they never did. I stopped calling because I would call and they never called me back. Then, on TV they show that there are discounts, but I got none. I called them up many times but they didn’t wanna hear it. I will never use Empire again. I had the worst experience in my life with them. My friends wanted to use Empire but I told them not to.

So they were gonna give me a $600 refund on the labor. I kept calling for the refund and it's been six weeks and they said it was taken care of. However, I haven't gotten the credit yet.

We have seen the commercials for Empire Today then we called them and the price seemed to be in our budget and reasonable. We also needed the work done pretty soon and the fact that Empire could be here that same week, we went ahead and went with it. We had carpet down in the basement and on some stairs. We also had the luxury vinyl tiles in the bathroom downstairs. But we weren’t able to do it exactly when they said they would because one day, they called me that morning, said that somebody got sick, and that they couldn’t come in. Then the next day, it was raining and they didn’t wanna do it when it was raining outside. So, it took a few more days than what we thought, but it didn't take three weeks, so that was fine. All in all, Empire was professional, convenient, and easy to work with, and I wouldn’t have a problem recommending them.

The sales person show my wife and I engineer wood one plank perfect wood with little distressed. On the installation day they started to put down something that we never selected. Heavy distressed wood and repaired wood with some type of gray resin or epoxy. The workers started to remove some at my request, not all was taken up. After the job was completed. We still was not happy so I call the contractor he agreed to come back and removed some repaired wood planks about 13. When they returned instead of removing the baseboard and remove the flooring floor he started to cut one out with a circular saw. After I seen what he was doing I stopped him. I informed him you are going to have to take up the floor.
He later came in and take up the floor in the kitchen area and change about 8. So we still was not happy so we called Mrs ** and a week later they came to remove about 13 more. At this time also put in wood planks my stairwell. When they were done. My stairwell had multiple sizes in depth. One was 8-1/2, 9, 9-7/8, 11-1/4. Before they were 10-1/2. I reported to the manager. They came back out and remove all the wood off my stairwell. The contractor instead of removing all the nose from original stairs he left them on and place spacers.
Shortcut job that blacked fired so we suffered for about a month. My house was a mess. I don’t recommend this company. The carpet Installation was also bad. They called us told us the installer will be at my home in 2 hours and they never showed up never. It was 5 days later my carpet was installed. The vendor told us they would install in 5 days. It took a month. We had a lot of cleaning to do. Day in and day out. Empire Today is not a good company. Keep away from them.

I am so disappointed that this carpet did not turn out as planned. One and a half years ago I helped my 91 year old grandfather get a new carpet in the living room and hallway of his apartment. We decided on Empire. Early this summer, I noticed a large bump in the middle of the living room that is getting larger every week, and several smaller bumps in the hallway. My grandfather does not use a walker or wheelchair, so there is no reason for this besides poor installation. He had wall to wall carpeting for 40 years with no such issues.
It is now a serious safety concern, as my elderly grandfather is at risk for falling and has now tripped several times. I have called to try to speak to a manager nearly 8 times, and have left messages, being told my only option was to pay $180 to get it stretched. I was recently told I would have a call back in 24 hours several times, never happened. I have received NO follow up. Most recently, I was told by a call center manager that the district manager would be following up with me and that was 3 weeks ago. I am so disappointed, concerned and in shock that a company that prides themselves on customer service has left an elderly man at such a risk.

My experience with Empire started on a very positive note with my sales consult. The associate was very helpful with helping us pick the right carpet and making sure we had the warranty we wanted as well and worked to accommodate our request for install dates and times but it went downhill from there. Carpet was installed on 3/3/18 – Tech arrived late and showed up with his wife and child in his truck and he was in a hurry. He then started to inform us that we paid way too much for the carpet and that Empire overcharges for the type of carpet we got and they never honor the warranty. We would have been better getting someone off of Craigslist. He stated the carpet was a little wet as well as it was in the warehouse but that he would cut those areas off.
Now, we start noticing that the carpet around the tile boarder is coming up. We contact Empire to schedule for someone to come out and see about making repairs. The young lady we spoke to stated that she could have the tech out there on Saturday August 11 between 8am and 10am. We are now waiting and no one has called or showed up and it is 10:45am. We contact them and we spoke to a lady who was rude and informed us, "Look your appointment maybe from 8 to 10 but these are sub-contractors and they can show up any time before 6pm".
I informed her that this is the first time I am hearing this, and she stated, "Well I am telling you now." and hangs up. The tech finally shows up at 5:30 and it was the same guy who installed the carpet. He stated he was in a hurry and that no one gave him the call until 11:30am and he was already on a call and had things to do. He stated the issue was that the TACK strip was not replaced and it was old and not holding the carpet in place and that it was bad carpet. He stated he could not stretch the carpet because there was not enough of it to stretch and because the carpet is fraying at the transition.
I called on Monday August 13th and complained and the young lady that helped me was truly wonderful and stated someone will contact me. I received a call on Tuesday from a lady who stated she was a manager and that she needed to come out and inspect the carpet to confirm the issues. She arrived on Wednesday August 15th and informed my mother-in-law she was not a manger but a installer and her name was Eunitha ** and she then proceeds to inform my mother-in-law that there is nothing wrong with the carpet; that the issue is the dog is eating the carpet.
Are you serious??? She is telling my mother my dog who is trained and I mean very well trained that they are eating the carpet. My dogs are not eating the carpet, nor do they play on the carpet. For someone to come into my home and tell my mother there is nothing she is going to do because her dog and cat has done the same thing to her carpet and this is what my dogs have done to this carpet is totally unprofessional. I have carpet in other parts of the home and this is not an issue.
I have a warranty on this carpet and the entire carpet is coming apart where it meets the tile and this is not a dog issue. I have done a lot of research on fraying carpet and this has nothing to do with pets. It has to do with poorly installed carpet. Transition molding – Where carpet meets other floor coverings, the edges must be adequately protected with an appropriate transition molding.
Sealing – Edges placed into transitional moldings may require sealing to prevent ng – Edges placed into transitional moldings may require sealing to prevent raveling.
Carpet is fraying and looking ragged next to the wall and at transitions: When carpet is manufactured it has a raw edge. We all understand that if a garment fabric has had the selvage cut off it needs to be hemmed or have a serged edge applied to keep it from fraying. The raw edge of a carpet backing fabric is no different in the sense that if it is not protected it too will fray. To protect that raw edge the carpet must be fully tucked between the tack strip and the wall so that the threads from the raw edge of the back will not work to the surface.
As with the backing around the walls, threads from the raw edges of the backing when not adequately tucked or protected will work to the surface. As you walk across these transitions or vacuum the carpet in these areas the back of the carpet can be separated. When it is difficult to protect the edge it is often advisable to use an adhesive along the raw edge to seal. I really need someone to contact me to resolve this issue.
Cheryl, we understand your frustration and regret to hear that your carpet is not meeting your expectations. We've located your order, and we'll be in touch with you shortly to discuss your concerns.

I was getting all my bedrooms redone and my living room. Choose a carpet and set up a install date which was a Friday. So come Friday I took off work and had my whole house emptied and torn apart ready for the installers. They did show up on time but said they did not bring enough carpet they will be back tomorrow (Sat.) and took off not even doing one room. About an hour later a rep called and told me my carpet would be now on Sun not Sat. because there are no available installers.
She was more worried about how I was going to pay for the carpet on Sun. than the inconvenience they were leaving me with. Sun the installers show AGAIN without enough carpet AND without doing any rooms. They told me now it would be Tue. that when they would be able to come back. Tuesday took off work again, have an email from them confirming my installation for that day. 9:30 no word from them. I give them a call. They tell me I am scheduled for the day but a install crew has not been assigned yet and was told to give a back in a hour if I do not hear from them.
Hour later no word so I call back, put on hold. When they came back was told all installers were busy and they were going to have to reschedule AGAIN which the earliest date was the following Monday 10 days after my original install date. Was offered no compensation because I was misquoted on my carpet by over 1000 dollars which I already knew was a lie 'cause I already priced check at a local carpet store for like carpet and difference was only a couple hundred. So I had my order canceled and would never buy from them again or would I recommend Empire to anyone.

When the salesperson was here I chose a dark mushroom color of carpet. When the installer came he showed me a square inch of carpet that looked very similar. It just depends on how the light hits. Ultimately what they installed was a mauve colored carpet and what I ordered was a dark mushroom carpet. In addition they offer 1-year free financing with a predatory lender. Synchrony Bank. Just be careful when you deal with these people. Everything Is Not What It Seems. And they have refused to make any adjustments or concessions. The excuse that they gave for not making a correction of some kind was the color variants of the lot. I feel duped. BE VERY CAREFUL OF THIS VENDOR. MAUVE IS NOT DARK MUSHROOM.
Updated on 08/14/2018: Empire called me back and offered me $100 to live with a carpet that is mauve colored when I clearly ordered the color dark mushroom. For all I know at this point it may not even be the same product. Horrifying experience. I have $8,000 worth of carpet that is contrary to exactly what I ordered and they're saying it is a lot color variance. Between the color mauve which has a severe purple hue and the color mushroom which has a brown hue. Be careful please when dealing with these people. They do not deliver as promised. I don't know how they expect you to okay sample of one inch square in someone's hand against the carpet when it is laid.

I got bids from different companies and looked at their product. I have two dogs so I wanted something in case I had accidents when they get older, I wouldn’t have to worry about my carpet rotting out. Other companies that I had called on to come out kept calling and telling me they couldn’t make it. That discouraged me from doing business with them. When I called Empire, the salesman came right out and kept his time. He was a little late one time but he called me to tell me he would be there.
Empire has their own installers and the quality of their work was great. It was done in one day. I had the interior painted so everything was packed up. All they had to do was move the furniture and install it. I had carpet removed out in one bedroom and a vinyl put down. Then, I had my carpet removed and carpet put down too. It was a really smooth installation and a great experience.
I would tell friends to use Empire. I would also refer them to Mike, the salesman that I used. He helped me make up my mind as I had never done that before in my life. When he came out, I picked out one color but it kept going over in my mind that I don’t like that color so I called him again. He came out and showed my daughter the color that I picked and then he brought out some more samples. That was when I changed my mind and got a new color. There was a 75% discount to have it installed by a certain date, too.

A friend suggested Empire and I got them to install different shades of gray vinyl in two bedrooms, a bathroom and a hall. They also did little edging around the flooring and the walls. Though their sales rep was very talkative, he was pretty good and he answered all of my questions. However, I’ve got several places that already came on and I’ve not even had the flooring for six months. The vinyl was laid out properly but the floor wasn’t exactly flat as it needed to be and it shows through on the vinyl. They should’ve said something before they laid it instead of letting me bring it to their attention. I paid all this money yet they said that there was nothing they could do about the problem. I don't recommend them.

I had engineered hardwood floor installed over a month ago. Installer showed up with quarter round trim that didn’t match other rooms that Empire installed a few years ago. I made the mistake of believing the salesperson that they would match the trim up later and let them install floor and do the trim later. It’s been over a month and I have called over two dozen times to follow up. They NEVER call you back after saying they will. I have to explain the problem each time I call. Empire makes you pay in full before they start the job. That’s the problem. You have no leverage to get anything fixed. And they DONT CARE BECAUSE THEY HAVE THEIR MONEY. NEVER EVER ORDER OR USE EMPIRE.

The salesperson was awesome...came in, listened and we found a solution for flooring. We ended up choosing laminate and carpet. The schedule date was 3 weeks out...plenty of time for me to take schedule the day off so they could install the laminate. Was called the evening before the install that the color I selected is no longer in stock and I would have to pick another color...weird they found out the day before! So, was told that they would PROMISE to come out the next day if I picked another color. Left work early to meet the sales guy. We picked a new color and he submitted it.
I asked multiple times if we were still on for tomorrow. He said if corporate manager had said yes...then we were. So the next day I showed up at my rental and no one ever came. I even got the email that said they would show up...still no one showed. I called and they said all changes require 72 hours to go through the system and that they could not install today. I just missed 1.5 days of work!!!
Next, carpet people came out next day. Said I "might" have asbestos" in my tile, but they could glue the tack strips down, but needed manager permission first. They called the manager and never got a hold of them...so they left. Another day completely wasted! That is two days of work gone. Finally got ahold of the manager that said another installer would come out on Saturday to glue the strips down...again, waited on Saturday for several hours. Installer showed up at 5:20 and refused to glue strips down. Said it wouldn't work. Didn't offer any alternatives and just left! I have now SEVERAL day lost due to this company!!! Next, installers was to come out Monday and install laminate...said due to some uneven flooring in small area that they would not install unless I signed document voiding warranty for entire install.
There are rooms separated by 12 foot opening. Only 4 of those feet were uneven by 1.5 inches...totally understood. Suggested a transition piece that would make the living room totally separate and LEVEL from the dining room. They said no...that laminate floor would give and take and would ruin the entire floor!!! All 400 square feet would have been separate from the uneven part and they still wouldn't do it unless I gave up warranty on entire install. Called manager again and after several discussions they said they would call me back in 10 minutes...it never happened! It's been 4 hours and I have still not heard anything. I called the managers back. They are not answering! NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! It's not worth it! Their service is horrible.

We had just purchased our house in Lawrenceville, GA on October of 2016 and before we moved in, we wanted to remove the carpet and have hardwood floors installed on the first floor. The salesperson was polite and professional. It was a bit pricey but the sales person assured me that it was well worth it because they back their product up with a lifetime warranty and that we had nothing to worry about. So we proceeded with the install. We were very happy initially with the install and the house looked great. Now we are coming up on 2 years, and the floor in my living room is starting to bulge. I called customer service and told them about the problem and they assigned a ticket and told me that someone would be calling me back within 24 hrs. 5 days go by and no call!
So I call back and they opened up a new ticket and told me the same thing. This time someone did call back. They told me to send them pictures and they will review them and schedule someone to come out. I thought great! However, I got an email back with some disappointing news. The representative basically told me that the installation warranty was only good for 12 months and the manufacturer's warranty does not cover damage caused by wetting or the presence of excessive moisture. Now I'm furious!
I should be able to mop my hardwood floors to keep it clean. The sales person did not go over any special cleaning requirements or explained anything about not being able to mop these particular floors. I paid over $6000 for this floor which to me is a lot of money. Now I feel ripped off and helpless. The customer service representative wants to send someone out to inspect it and test for moisture. This leads me to believe that nothing is going to happen and I will be stuck. I expected that they would send someone out to fix it. But not the case. I am extremely upset and I would rather not talk to any local customer service. This case needs to be escalated to corporate.

Buyer beware. You may be charmed with a very knowledgeable and competent sales person but once they have your commitment they have absolutely no control over the installation if things go poorly. Empire is merely a name that independent contractor work under. My experience: my sales person was wonderful. She walked away with a $17k sale. Installation was to start the next day - carpet and laminate.
After two days of installation (by little English speaking Hispanics) there were issues that need fixed. The sales person can only give you a 1-800 number to which you enter a maze of on hold and incompetence. You never get an actual person who will do the work only Empire schedulers. It’s been 2 weeks! I had the carpet issues repairs by the laminate- still unfinished. If called the dedicated person FOUR times and left vm messages, my sales person can’t help AND her sales manager hasn’t returned call either. This company is the WORST.

I'm leaving this review because my husband and I have 1500 square feet on our main floor that we would like flooring for. Empire today had a Salesman come out to give us a quote. We wanted time to think about it and compare prices. The gentlemen left and came back to our house after 5 minutes. He explained a better deal and we thanked him and said we still wanted to think about it. The next morning we wanted to go forward with the deal and we're unable to connect with the salesman. I called the main line and they assured me that someone would be calling to speak with me.
We finally heard back from our salesman at 8 p.M. That night. By that point we wanted to speak to someone else due to the unprofessionalism of the salesman. The next morning we called the main line again and ask to speak with a manager or someone other than the original salesman. It has been 5 days now and we have not heard from anyone at Empire today regarding the two service tickets I requested when wanting to speak to a manager. At this point will be looking for another company to do our flooring. Our frustration is due to the quick turnaround to get a Salesman in our home and pressure to sign at that moment. When we refused and wanted time to process the quote, the company has now refuse to call us back.

However, I've been trying to get the book with the warranty and the maintenance care since May. I've called five times already and each time they tell me that it will be here in two weeks, but I have yet to get one. I'm about ready to call the Better Business Bureau. I really enjoyed my experience with Empire Today. Prior to choosing them, we had looked at Home Depot and those stores, but it was my interaction with Nora in a lead networking group that made me decide to have her come to the house and put the carpeting in. She was such a wonderful rep and she had a really good eye for helping us look at flooring and think about what to put down. I also loved the coloring that went with our wick in the room and I liked that the flooring had a warranty too.
Empire's installation team was wonderful. They were very courteous and they did a great job very quickly. I've been meaning to call Nora though because there are a couple of places where the flooring popped and one little spot where it's a little uneven. But other than that, we absolutely loved the floor so, they're highly recommended. I also have already referred Nora to other people who are looking for flooring.

More recently, I had them install hardwood floors in the dining area and then the carpet in the living room and the bedroom. The carpet that was there before was also done by them years ago. While the new carpet is fine, there is one area in the dining room with the hardwood floor where I don’t think it was sealed as well as it should’ve been. Other than that, Empire has been of great service. They have been fast and efficient and timely.

I expect and insist on great customer service but after 4 months' time, over 6 hours on the phone, I called the sales guy who came to my house within a week. My wife and I explained how many times we called, and asked why our carpet is wearing so fast after less than two years of installation. The first appointment for an estimate I had set up was for August 4th which was a Saturday. It was a beautiful day but we stayed home all day waiting for Empire to show up. About a half hour after the window of time passed that they give you for the appointment, my husband called to see what happened. He was told that the manager should have called and let us know that they had a scheduling conflict and were unable to make it. Nobody called or emailed us. The woman apologized and gave us a $50 credit for future use if we decided to go with Empire.
Rescheduled for the following Tuesday. On Tuesday we actually did get a call about five minutes before the appointment window saying that they were not coming and that something happened to the sales rep that was coming. Reluctantly we scheduled a third appointment for today. They did not show again. No call either. I consider this to be very unprofessional. Sorry Empire, you have lost our business.
Updated on 9/15/2018: Installers showed and could barely speak English. I was unable to communicate properly with them. They didn’t explain anything that they were doing. They rolled out my brand new carpet in my dirt driveway (where my dog uses the bathroom) in order to cut it. Upon moving my furniture they damaged my kitchen floor in two places. When I told one of the men he just looked at me and walked away. They left my electric heaters propped up against the walls instead of reattaching back to the walls. They didn’t have the correct tools with them to take off my closet and bedroom doors. I had to call a different contractor to come and take them off. Also had to have him come back after they left to reattach the electric heaters back on the walls.
Someone from Empire called to see how the installation was going. I told them what happened and they said a manager would call me back within 48 hours. The next day a woman named Candis called and left a message to call her back. We did only an hour after she left the message. No answer, left message. Called back two other times throughout the day, no answer. Called the next day, no answer left message. Filled out a survey two days later that they emailed me. Someone called only two hours later and recorded my issues and again I was told that a manager would call me asap. That never happened.
Now it’s over a week since the installation and I still have yet to talk to a manager about the damage done to my kitchen floor. I feel like because I paid in full at the time of installation, Empire no longer cares about the situation. Not a good way to do business. That being said we did get a great deal on our carpet. It’s very nice and we do like it. I hate to complain but what’s fair is fair.

We scheduled the install with our sales rep and set up financing. We were told on the day of the install they'd ask for COD (cash on delivery) but we should just show them the paperwork stating we are financing and we will be good to go. Sure enough, the installer asked for COD and we showed him the paperwork, however, when he called it in Empire had no record of our financing and downpayment and Empire said we owed more than we had signed off on. I sat on hold with customer service for 40 minutes until it was resolved.
The installer and his crew could not start working until they confirmed we had payment taken care of. The customer service rep took care of the issue about 50 minutes later and the install team was able to begin. Because of the delay the installer had to come back a second day to finish his work. This was in no way the fault of the installer or the customer service reps but the fault of Empire and their records. In fact, the installer was very knowledgeable and helped me make a few decisions based on his experience. The CSR was very calm, cool and collected while being very apologetic because I can assure you I was very frustrated. I suggest Empire work on their filing and documentation.

We had our carpeting done through Empire Today and I like the carpet. It was a stain-guarded, pet-proof carpet and was one of the best carpets out there, but the salesperson was pretty misleading on the interest rate for the carpeting. He said it was 0% and it came back at 9.99%. I called him on it and he said, “No, I never said that.” I said, “Yes, you did or I never would’ve signed up for it.”
They also promised me a guaranteed delivery date so I cleaned out all the rooms and was ready to go and then they called me the night before to tell me that they weren’t coming and that the carpet wasn't there when I already had my whole house torn up into pieces for them. I said, “What? How did you not know this? This is the night before.” They had to come back with a different date to reinstall and were blaming it on a truck. But everything’s great with the carpet except that I’m having a hard time getting one spot out of the floor. They also forgot to cut a hole for one floor vent so I had to call them back. Nonetheless, the installers themselves were fine. It was a big job and they were really good.

I saw Empire Today advertised on TV. A friend of mine also got them, so I looked into them. The salesman who came was all right, but what I didn’t like about him was that when he asked me what was the price I wanted and I told him I wanted something that I like, he kept asking me for the price range. I didn't like the first product that I picked out too. When the guy came to put it down, he showed it to me and it was fake wood. It looked cheap, so I went with the tile for my kitchen. The man who installed the tiles was the best. He came at 8:30 in the morning and left at 1:30 the next morning, and he laid everything down. It was perfect. I was very pleased with him. The flooring looks good and clean, and I'm happy with it. I'd tell people to check out Empire Today.

I am very happy with the carpeting installed by Empire Today. There's plushness as well as elegance to it. It is also a good product. While the team from Empire did a fine job installing the carpet, there was a little language barrier. Their rep was also a little hard to get a hold of. Other than that, the work Empire did was good.

On 3 separate occasions Empire failed to appear for a carpet installation in my home. On each occasion they did not give any notice until well into the evening (after 8 pm). In spite of assurances from someone in the corporate office (a Bill **, at extension ** did not exist when I called back due to their failure to show for the 3rd installation) the installers never came nor were they able to be reached by phone by the customer support staff or myself. This fiasco caused lost wages for my fiancée and tremendous frustration for both of us. Needless to say I have demanded a refund of the deposit and I will be hiring Home Depot, a more reputable company. Warning to consumers. Don't be fooled by the TV commercials that show a kindly smiling middle aged man rolling out carpet. Empire takes your money and has no control over the actions of the contracted installers.

And had the nerve to ask for another reschedule. They are advertising everywhere but do not have the staff to fulfill their clients. Customer service at ITS WORST!!!

I can't begin to describe how disappointed I have been with my experience with Empire. The Baltimore office was the primary disappointment. The sales experience was the only reason my review gets one star - at least this was pleasant and he was professional. The problems began with the installation. We purchased the new hypo-allergenic carpet. On the day of installation, there were 3 guys that showed up and got the carpet in the room, but they soon discovered they did not have the proper tools and materials to install this new carpet. That should have been my first clue that I would need different installers. They said they would come out the next day (a Saturday) to finish the job. They were late the next day and held up our evening.
When they completed the job and I walked around to inspect their work, I was horrified with what I saw. They had installed the stairs in the wrong style - waterfall instead of Hollywood. They did not verify the style we wanted before doing the job, and the salesman had told us they have a standard installation in Hollywood style, so I didn't even think to check as they were installing it. The room they installed the carpet in was even worse. There were bare spots at wall corners and the factory edge of the carpet had not been pulled against the wall, so there was a bare spot against the wall. They finished the room with a small square piece of carpet and the seams were obvious.
When I pointed this out, they said they would fix it, but they just made it worse. Their "fix" was to cut small dots of carpet and shove them in the bare spots...which would probably vacuum up on the first run over the carpet. When I confronted them about the steps, they wanted to just put staples in the carpet, which would probably pull out the first couple of times up the steps.
I wrote this on the paperwork before I signed and they left. I called the next morning (Sunday) to see if the company had gotten the message. They hadn't. In fact, I was told 1-3 business days before someone would get back with me. I was told by the salesman that if the job was not done correctly, someone would be back the same day to correct it. This is not true at all! In fact, I would have to call every day for the entire week and leave messages at the Baltimore office. When I called the corporate number, the customer service operators would try calling them and get no response. They would just keep "upgrading" my status to urgent. This didn't do any good.
Finally, 10 days after the initial day of installation, I got a call back. The representative had only been on the job for 1 week, and during that week he was in training. They said they could only come out 2 days later. This was not acceptable. I asked to speak with the manager, and he said they would come the next day. I asked why I hadn't gotten a call back and he said the office was short staffed. The next day came - I got a call saying the installers did not come to work that day and they couldn't install the carpet. Now, they would have to reschedule me again. I was promised they would be out first thing the next morning. I also found out they were trying to schedule me with the same guys! If they did it wrong the first time, they need to send someone else to fix it. I am not letting them in my house again.
Here we are, the next morning, and I get an automated call that they would be here in the afternoon. What!?!? After all this, now 13 days after initial install. When I tried calling the Baltimore office again, no one answered... surprise, surprise. The installation voicemail box was full, so I couldn't even leave a message. I had to leave a message in the general inbox. Customer service is awful and there is no follow-through. I don't know how they can stay in business in this market given the experience I have had and with the installers they have in the field.

The installation department of this company needs a serious revamping! I was scheduled for installation today (a date the company picked) and was told they would arrive at my residence at 12. However, when I called the company at 2:00 to find out why they not yet arrived, I was told that the installer was on another job and would come out tomorrow. But wait, I already took the day off work and displaced my 98 year old father in preparation for the installation. Shouldn't the installation team know their schedules and how much approximate time a single job should take?
Also, to add insult to injury, you cannot talk to the installation manager because they don't answer the phone, but should return your call in 24 hours? What the heck? I should have listened to the all reviews that point back to the installation department. I am really thinking about cancelling and going with another vendor. I guess you get what you pay for and sometime discounts equal disappointment.

Back in 2000, I was living in Carson, California and had Berber carpet installed through Empire Today. I was really happy about the work they did so I called them back when I moved down here. I had the Berber again, a tighter one this time, but when they put it next to my tile, they had to re-fix it. The carpet was unraveling. It's like when you get a string and pull it, you're messing up the whole thing. So, I called Empire back, they came back and glued it. They told me that if I see a snag where it looks like it's coming a little, not to pull it. Because of what happened, they gave me a discount.
Another thing, the tile that I ended up picking for the bathroom and washroom had the right name on it but it was the wrong tile that was in the box. It's been over two weeks now and I've been waiting for them to get the right one or something that would match the rest of my tiles. They said they had me scheduled for the 23rd. The mix up wasn’t the installers’ fault and we’re trying to get it straightened out but ‘till then, my stuff is all over the place. I moved everything out of the way such that all they had to do was move my washer and dryer. Then I just found out that I can't pick up anything really heavy due to having a hernia in my navel. Thus, I can't move anything back. So, that’s kind of depressing too. But given my experience with Empire Today in 2000, I’d still recommend them.

Right now though, I don't like the carpet I have because the color is a little off and it is more suited for a bedroom. I should have gone with the regular carpet. I saw other carpets, but it all went back to this carpet that I have which is more expensive and has the padding underneath that I don't like. I like the regular padding and I thought that was what they were gonna put in. Also, where they had put together the carpet from the little hallway to the living room, I can see where it's going to come apart eventually. After meeting with a consultant and receiving 3 different estimates...which I thought was very shady...one offer was good just for that day. She assured me I could get that price for the carpet with only a 50.00 fee. I agreed to the price and paid the 50.00. I was set to have the carpet installed when my hot water heater exploded. I had to cancel the carpet installation due to obvious budget issues. When I tried to cancel the installation I was first placed on hold for over 20 minutes after being transferred to the "cancellation department." This departments sole purpose is to do everything in their power to persuade you to keep the contract. Their tactics were completely and utterly unscrupulous.
I kept telling "Mike" I need to cancel due to finances. He continued to say... “What if we pushed the installation forward past September.” These tactics are completely out of line!!! If a customer calls to cancel...the company has an obligation to immediately cancel… NOT transfer the person 3 times... with a total hold time of 30 minutes to several people!!! There is something wrong with the mindset of this company!!! IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I hope this helps someone else out there. When choosing a carpet company do NOT consider Empire Today!!!

I had to pay somebody to take the carpeting off and take it away which was different than my other experience.
I called my sales guy who was always right there when I needed him and he came right over. I've already had the rug off and taken out and it was cold in here without the carpeting, so we decided we would just go with carpeting. We picked out the carpeting but this was three weeks later so that was out of stock. I had to pick another color that was closer to the other one. It was almost exactly the same and it was enough gray too from the last. It's a very small area and the rep said that I would get my credit as the carpeting was gonna cost less. That was good because I was getting $1,000 back. However, I've never gotten my money back. The Empire guys wanted me to buy something else so what the rep said about the credit was a big fat lie. It got rescheduled and the day of I get a phone call from a very rude girl, very unprofessional. I demanded to talk to a supervisor. He told me as with any business things like this happen. No. Things like this do not just keep happening! It was very unprofessional and especially waiting last minute to call me and inform me.
When the installers have finally came out they layer the carpet over my laminate flooring which was supposed to have been taken out prior too. They said it was not in the paperwork. They had my husband look at it and it was typed out on the first page on the very top! They still did NOT remove the laminate floors off the stairs, they did not properly lay the carpeting in my home, and they broke the tile on my kitchen floor! I am very upset! Not once did I get a phone call from a supervisor to ask if I was satisfied or pleased with the service after they have finished.
After they have left I have went into the bathroom. I had blood all over my bathroom sink from where one of the workers have cut their finger and did not ask for cleaning stuff to clean up their mess, there was toilet paper in my trash can from where he wiped causing my bathroom to smell like feces! I was very hospitable and kept offering them stuff to drink and have found my glasses laying everywhere instead of being kind enough to set them on my kitchen table. They did not have the proper tools to cut the laminate wood floors as my husband had to do that with several broken ribs!! They did NOT put the border of my walls back up after pulling them off!! And NOTHING is being done to rectify ANY of this!

I’ve been doing business with Empire for a lot of years. They always give me what they say they’ll give me when they say they’ll do it. Plus, the people who do the work have always been excellent. They do a great job and clean up after. There was only one time when I had an issue with Empire. Many years ago, I had my family room, kitchen, and hallway done with tile. In the kitchen, around my cupboards, they put the molding down. A couple of years later, one piece of the molding swelled up really bad and had to be replaced. Since it’s a molding that only Empire Today carries, I contacted them about getting this piece of molding which was exactly two and a half feet long. I was told that they would have to send a repairman out with that and that it was gonna cost me some ungodly amount of money.
I told them that I could replace it as there were only two nails holding it. I asked if I could just purchase the piece of molding. They told me no. At that point, I told them to take me off their list and I would never do business with them again. The next day, they called back and said they were gonna send a service person out to replace my piece of molding and that there was no charge. The next day a young gentleman came out and he had the molding. He replaced it at no charge to me. He also had a couple of extra pieces that he left with me in case it ever happened again.
I do all my business with Empire. I’m in a two-story colonial and the record would show everything on my floor in my home has always been Empire and even my window treatments at one time. To charge me that kind of money for this little piece of molding was absurd, but, they made it right. I was happy, which was why I called them back to do the carpet and hard flooring. The hard flooring was for our living room and the carpet was for the stairs and hallway going upstairs. Now we are trying to get the second carpet installed and the representative is not returning my calls and his mailbox is full. I have called the company 5 times already and they have left a message 4 times for a woman who is suppose to call me back and hasn't. We have had Empire do four projects in our home and rental property in the past with no issues. We decided to use them for a simple flooring replacement on our basement steps and landing. After taking two days off work to get it done, it’s still unfinished and what’s there hasn’t been properly installed. Our complaint was supposedly “expedited” to a customer service manager who does not return our calls. Installers have always been late and don’t seem to know what they are doing. We’ve asked for different installers and at this point have been told we won’t know until the day of the third try to get this done whether they can come in the morning or afternoon. I am beyond angry and would not recommend this company. Spend the extra money to save yourself frustration and vacation days.
Updated on 08/06/2018: I recently put a post on here describing unfinished work, unprofessional behavior and taking 3 days off to get stairway flooring installed. I received a call back from the company. I was assured someone would come in a timely manner and fix the job today. I was also told by more than one person it would not be the same installers who messed up the first three times. After taking another day off, no one contacted us until they were 5 hours late. It was still going to be almost 2 hours later that they would arrive. Most surprising was that it was the same installers who we were told would not be used.
The day was wasted and we were not interested in having someone who did shoddy work three times back into the house to mess it up even more. The stairs are unfinished, what’s there likely can’t be salvaged and now we have to find someone to do a job that Empire makes you pay for before they start working. I am hoping that Empire will refund what we’ve paid and we can simply forget this whole situation. Unfortunately the days which were taken off work can’t be replaced. I’m not sure what happened to this company since the first four projects they did for us but needless to say it wasn’t good.

I purchased laminate wood flooring from 'Empire Today' just over a year ago. Initially installed in April 2017. When the installer arrived, he was by himself (was supposed to be 2 installers). He asked for payment although I had arranged financing with the salesman. Managed to get that cleared up for him to begin the install. As he was alone, it took him until almost 10pm to finish. He also had not been informed that he needed to level part of the subfloor, another oversight by the salesman. A couple of weeks went by when we noticed the floor was sagging badly in one area. Called them out to inspect, and they agreed it needed to be fixed. They came back out and re-leveled the floor and put back together (it took 2 appointments as the first time they showed up, they didn't have the materials needed).
Another couple of weeks go by and now the floor is 'buckling'. Again, inspector comes out and agrees that installer put in "too tight" and used glue/nails where he shouldn't have to allow floor to 'float'. Scheduled another repair date. The date arrives and new installer shows up, again without all the needed materials (did not come in as expected). Re-scheduled AGAIN and finally thought it was right. So, now we're up to 4 visits, each time causing me to take time away from work, not to mention that I did not always get a call like I was told I would with their ETA. This caused them to leave during an appointment as I wasn't home because they didn't bother to call.
Fast forward to now, where AGAIN, the floor is buckling badly. My wife called and was told we would get a call back in 24-48 hours 96 hours later, I get the call. The customer (non)service person was too busy explaining their crap policy to me and not listening to my concerns. She said it would be $125 for them to come look at their crummy job because it had been over a year since the installation. I tried to explain to her that it had been LESS than a year since they had gotten it actually installed right (or so we thought). She was too busy going through her script and reiterating their policy to listen to what I had to say.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that she could request that, but I would have to wait another 24-48 hours. When I told her what I thought about this system, she began to talk over me again. I waited for her to finish and again tried to convey my concerns to her. She was not having it, and interrupted me and began to talk over me AGAIN! I lost my cool, and regrettably used some not so appropriate language. At which time she ended the call. I am still fuming at the lack of concern this company continues to demonstrate to their customers and shoddy workmanship. DO NOT USE EMPIRE TODAY FOR ANYTHING!

I liked Empire's timing and cost. They put in a carpet on the stairway and upstairs hall, and a hardwood floor in the living room. The installation people on the hardwood floors were superlative and so was the guy who did the carpet. They were fast and efficient, and they cleaned up after themselves. The carpet and the hardwood are wonderful. I sent Empire customer service an email after the installation telling them how pleased I was and I also told the man who came to talk to me about the carpet how pleased I was with the hardwood floor.

I've had Empire before with my carpets and I had one of my rooms done. I thought I would try them and see if their price is a little better and it was. I could only afford two rooms at that time. I liked the guys who did the floor. They did a nice job and they were easy to work with. There was one board that seemed to be a little different but it was nothing serious. We've had carpet our whole life and although switching to a hard floor is kinda different, it was what we wanted because of our dogs. My dogs are older and I was getting tired of cleaning up messes. Now, I can clean up the floor really quick and be done with it.
I have one more room to do and Empire told me it was $1,200 for the last room. Also, there was a $250 off. But they came a couple of weeks ago and they gave me a price $500 higher. Empire's rep measured the room and he came up with a $1,700 price instead of the $1,200 and that was including the $250 which didn’t make any sense to me since the room was small. Some lady called me and she was gonna check into it and get back with me but she didn't. I was not really thrilled with them with this recent part. Somebody should have at least called me this time. We were gonna buy our last room through them but nobody seems to want my business so I'm gonna probably go down to a different place.

I had wood flooring installed by Empire Today. We had a few appraisals done before, but Empire's price, as well as the convenience of it, were a little better. The speed of it was very good, too -- next week availability. They did three rooms in a day, and they were great. The flooring has been holding up very well.

They arrived on time and were helpful in moving things that I couldn’t. They also cleaned up. One of my neighbors saw the carpet and went with Empire as well.

I wouldn't go to anybody else. Empire Today is the oldest one that is still in business and I've never heard anything bad about them. We had a rug installed in our front room and Empire Today was fantastic. Our carpet was in here the day after and they gave absolutely great service. I have never had a company that was pleasant and respectful straight up. There was no complaint about anything, all the way down from their salesman to the sweet little people who came in and installed the rug. I love it and I would use them again.

I am a returning customer and had no issues the first time several years ago. However this time it started with a no call/no show on the est for carpet for 2 rooms. Ok whatever. Made a new one. So I order the carpet, give deposit and tell them that I needed an afternoon appointment. They said no issue with that and added a note. Day of the appointment I wait all day and get no call, email, etc and no one ever showed. So I call customer service and make a new appointment. After speaking to a manager same thing. Need an afternoon appointment and again they say Np and make a note.
The day of I get a call in the morning from the installer. They had a cancellation and are on the way. But I am in class which is why I said, "Hey I need an afternoon appointment." So I speak to a second supervisor and this is when I start getting pissed. He tells me that I should take the whole day off because they can't guarantee a time. So as of now I am waiting for his boss to call me back. But how can he tell me that when two other people told me nothing about, "Hey you need to take the whole day off." They are the dollar store of flooring and at this point I am done with this ** service.
Thank you.

I got the flooring of my bedroom done by Empire Today a long time ago. They installed carpeting for me twice. Also, they put in vinyl laminate flooring in strips in my downstairs area. It looked like wood but it wasn’t wood, and it looked really nice. I’m planning on getting the upstairs area and our kitchen done too, but that would be another $100 and I don’t have the credit to do that right now. I also need carpeting in my other bedroom, but I want to hold off on that for a little bit. Nevertheless, Empire did an excellent job and I loved my new flooring. Everything went very well and I was very satisfied.

I’ve used Empire Today years ago when I was in construction. I like the expertise that they put into the quality of their installations. This last time, I had them install carpet in two specific rooms in my home. I'm 65 and I’m disabled now. I have a custom staircase and the installer figured it was gonna take two or three hours to do it, and it took him eight. Still, when he was done, the work was impeccable. He even took pictures to take with him to show people what they had done there.
Though I would recommend Empire Today for their carpet, hardwood and their SnapLock flooring, I would not recommend them for their vinyl. They only had half a dozen selection and most of them were really dark like hardwood. There were no floral prints or stuff that was bright and airy looking. I would have used Empire for four rooms with vinyl but all they had was the wood grain-looking stuff. Nevertheless, Empire Today met my expectations and even went way over them. They put in a very good product and I like the durability and the colors.

I’ve been using Empire Today for years and my whole house was done by them. When I needed flooring for my living room and dining room, that was who I went with. First, they installed linoleum but it bubbled up so bad because it was damp underneath, so I had to complain and complain about that. They finally came out and picked it up, then they put the new stuff down. But it was still the same way, so they had to pick it up again. We had to wait about two weeks for the floor to dry before they came back out to put the floor down again. So, I had a bare and ugly floor for about two weeks. I had little changes with that and they ended up doing laminate in that area. All in all, it took from April to July to get the work done.
They weren’t understandable as far as what was going on but they were nice people. They had to end up getting somebody else to do the work but regardless of whatever went on, Empire did what they had to do to make it correct. Also, that was the first time anything ever happened like that and I learned from that experience. The floor looks good now and it’s easy to clean. I'm happy with it. Overall, I had some difficulties but I still love Empire Today. If I need them again, I’ll still call them.

I'm submitting this review on behalf of my sister, and you'll find out why shortly. She hired Empire Today to install LVT and carpet in her 3-story townhome. They had to remove the washer/dryer and a toilet to install the floors but when they re-installed the washer, they did it incorrectly and it flooded all 3 floors of her home. All floors, walls, and the ceiling of her 2nd floor had to be removed to get rid of all the moisture.
She had called the salesperson, Curtis **, who came out to take pictures and reassured her that he would take care of everything. Well, after speaking to him via text today since his VM is full, he said he submitted the pictures to customer service and said that's all he could do. It has been 3 months since this fiasco started and my sister is living in a construction war zone.
After repeated calls to Empire Today for resolution, there has been NOTHING done. Only customer service managers telling us to call other customer service managers and now we were referred to a STEVE ** who is the sales manager for the West Coast. Of course he's never in and we've left several VM with zero response. Even his cell phone number doesn't work. To top everything off, her house was burglarized over the weekend and the police think it was due to the fact that her home has been under construction for so long that the burglars thought it was vacant. They took everything so I'm writing this complaint on her behalf. We are at a loss of what to do next...
Mira, we regret to hear about your sisters experience and we'd like to further assist her. Please have her contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com for further assistance, thank you.

Today I had a rep from Empire come to my house for an estimate. On arrival, I told him that I wanted our stairs carpeted because our dogs slide when they go up and down the hardwood stairs. He did not listen to me and kept suggesting that we put a "strip" of rug on each stair to match the trim. I finally just agreed with him so I could get through the estimate and get him gone. Then, I found out the estimate was a hefty 1,200 dollars, which was much higher than I expected. I told him I must check and approve with my fiance before I can confirm if we will move forward. This is when his demeanor immediately changed.
He began explaining all of the reasons that I had to finalize with him today in a very pushy manner. He didn't even care if I canceled, he just needed me to finalize and would literally not take "no" for an answer. He even used the cancellation as a closing tactic, saying "You can just cancel it". It was so intense I felt like I must agree to get him gone.
Oh, and there was a $20 cash fee in order for him to proceed with the "contracts" that I was just going to cancel anyways. He even demanded to know the color of the carpet we picked out to put on the contracts which we had not even decided yet BECAUSE IT WAS AN ESTIMATE. I sense he could tell I had reached the limit of my frustration and let the "color" go for now. So to get him gone, I filled out his contracts, knowing damn well I am going to cancel and never deal with Empire Today again.
This was not an estimate, this was literally manipulating me into signing a contract. I was in high-pressure sales for 10 years of my life selling everything from cell phones to wireless automation - I can honestly say this was the most high-pressure sales situation I have ever experienced. Never dealing with Empire Today again.
Aaron, this is not the experience that we wish for our customers during their in-home consultations. We'll be looking into this matter.

We had hardwood floors installed throughout our entire house (over 2,000 sq. Ft!) about 2 months ago. The install went well but we quickly noticed that the floors creaked terribly. It sounds like you are walking on bubble wrap. We were able to get 2 different employees from Empire come out and inspect the floors. Both confirmed that the material was faulty. Both employees ensured someone would be in touch with us to resolve the problem. At this point, we just want the material ripped out and to never deal with them again. We have contacted our “Customer Service Manager” on a DAILY BASIS for almost 2 weeks. We also contact the corporate office and are told “someone will contact us in 24 hours.” We are still waiting for someone in customer service to contact us and will continue to call on a daily basis until this issue is resolved. I just recently purchased a new home and the carpets were terrible so I decided to go with laminate flooring. I contacted Empire and their customer service was great, they were able to send someone out for an estimate right away. The person doing the estimate seemed very knowledgeable, was able to answer my questions and able to help match me with the best flooring product. I was leaving on vacation so I scheduled install 2 1/2 weeks out for July 16. On July 14 Empire called and said that my product still wasn't in and they weren't sure it would be on time. I said OK and asked them to call on Monday (the 16th) to let me know when they thought the product would be in.
On the 16th I was told it would take another week for them to have my flooring delivered and they would be able to install the NEXT Monday the 23rd. When I asked why the delay they said that my product had been in the warehouse and because the install was a ways out they sold it to another person assuming there would be time to get a new order in. On the 23rd they arrived as promised and the installers were very professional but found when the carpet was removed that they needed to even out the floor first, so because of drying time they wouldn't be able to install until the 25th, things happen I understand.
On the 25th they came out again, the crew was very friendly and very good and their job but didn't have any of the transition pieces for between rooms, they said they'd install everything else that day and then return to do the transitions within the next couple days. I waited for 5 days and when they didn't call me back to say they were coming to install I called customer service who said no such request had been put in and they didn't know that the transition pieces were needed (even though I noted it on the paperwork). I was told that they could come out later in the week sometime between August 1 and 3rd (16-18 days AFTER the job was supposed to be completed). So far they have not arrived to finish the job but hopefully it is completed soon. Timing aside, the product is beautiful and looks to be well installed, it has just taken MUCH longer than promised which would cause me to hesitate before recommending them to anyone.

Our family's experience has been horrible since the beginning. On 4/16/2018 my husband and I met with an Empire representative or floor sales person to see some hard wood floor samples. After agreeing what we wanted documentation was submitted for installation and financing was set in place. After that everything went downhill from installation, wrong materials, delays, bad customer service, lack of respect and communication. This is not what we expected from a reputable company we're at a point where we're considering legal action be taken. My husband and I have talked to people in Texas, and the contractor supervisor from Tulsa and all we're getting is the run around and no solution. The problem we're having with our hardwoods is that the material was not left in our home to climate because it was being rushed from Texas since they messed up our orders the first time.
We called Empire to express that concern and was told that the flooring needed to glued down (because it's squeaking really bad and to this day it's getting worse), ok so we submit the paperwork for the additional financing which would of been $1,000.00 and $100.00 was reduced for the inconvenience mind you this is the second time they deducted a convenience fee.
The first time it was because of the wrong material delay. Installer shows up and tells us he was given a work ticket for installation and not a glue down, so there goes another delay. We never get calls back within 24 hrs, no courtesy calls or follow ups. This has all been very inconvenient. 1. We have to take off from work to deal with this. 2: Our new furniture is having to be moved and moved because they keep telling us that they're coming and never do.

Spoke with customer service, still no answer on when an installer will be calling me. She said she left message with installer and installer would be calling me back. Turk ** called at 11:30 to let me know that the truck was loaded but my laminate wasn't, so how do you load without product? He said he'd call RDC and get back to me in 1/2 hour but never did. I called customer service again for the 3rd time, she said she left messages with everyone she could. Turk ** called at 3:30 to tell me that they did not have enough product and they will not be out to install today & would let me know by end of the day with a status. Which he did not let me know anything.
I called again 4th time around 7:30, customer service left a voice mail with the market & told me someone would call me in 24 hours. Worst experience ever!!! Bought a house, needed flooring, my sons said use Empire good "TRUSTED COMPANY". I called spoke with customer service and had a appointment within couple days. Great right!!! The lady came met with me my son and his wife going over flooring choices, went over how we want something strong durable and scratch resistant. Great, "How much do you want to spend". I told her, “I want top of the line, want it to last,” so we picked it out and I was happy paid my deposit. Done deal right??? The installer was already mad cause they screwed up my order, I said, “Please do baseboards in the bedroom first for bed was on it way to be installed.” He protested he does not do baseboard it is carpet guy.
Called Empire who then confirmed it was part of his contract to do the baseboards. He told me if Empire does not pay me I will be back. I just paid him the $200.00 cash to get it over with, if this is the worst that comes screw it. (one would think). I left the house and went back to work. Came back home at 7:00p.m I pulled up as they were packing up. We went inside to see it looked great as good as a new floor could, something was a little off but I thought it was just because I seen a sample not the whole thing. My son and his wife came over and noticed the same thing but really had no samples to go off of. About 4 months after install I noticed server scratching all over thought ok, I called in talk to Amber, was told floor are not scratch "PROOF". I explained this was not what I was sold and these scratches are coming from the smallest things, move a kitchen chair, dog walking across, sweeping, these are coming up for the smallest things.
Again told it’s my problem. In April 2018 I called in to tell them my floor is separating the boards are coming apart!!! I was told to take pictures with money in the cracks for "PROOF" so I did and when they seen that I could fit quarters in between the cracks they sent some out their best installer!!! DING DING same ** who installed my floor the first time, who then told me he was never here before. They spent maybe 10 mins here got everything right and left. Here we are July my floors are coming apart. Worse I call in explain what’s going on and again Empire required me to submit proof in pictures sent to them like I am lying.
Latasha contacted me from customer service and said they could come out to fix it once I pointed out the original fix was within the maintenance year or for $75.00 they would send a manager out to inspect the install job. I did and expressed this is even worse. My son took over, seeing how the floor is scratching so easy and coming apart everywhere he informed Empire with my blessing that he is the new contact and we need to have a manager out to the house to look at what’s going on. Come up with a plan being how I have been pushed around by them too much already.
Latisha then informed Kevin with a attitude that again the is not scratch proof and it was something we are doing wrong. Then informed Kevin of the $75.00 charge it is going to be to get someone out here. Kevin said on top of the 6000 dollars my mom spent that is getting screwed over on you want more money!!! Ok you win. Kevin agreed, called me to get all flooring info that I had out, warranty, complete price, install date, everything. I then told him we still have one box of the flooring from the install in the garage. Kevin got here was going over the box and happen to look at the invoice. And what do you know, what was sold to me and what was installed was completely two different types of flooring!!! I paid for and is on my invoice - type: Vallette series: Acacia Natural, and what was installed in my house was type: Home Style Connection Series: American tobacco.
I got completely taken, bait and switch, if my son had not been so persistent and looking into this I would of never known wiser, they would of fixed said scratches are not Empire’s fault and leave. Now we are waiting till August 8th pay our $75.00 for a "manager" to show them how they really take advantage of an older individual. I paid top dollar because I wanted it to last ($5600.00 for 800 sq ft do the math just at $7.00 a sq ft) and I got flooring that should be about $3.00 a sq ft and customer service skills that is worthless. We will see where this goes but I have yet to get a hold of anyone, and can’t get a direct number. At this point, as far as I am concerned, this place is a complete bait and switch type outfit and should have some type of charges against them. I will be contacting the Colorado Consumer Fraud division and the BBB with my complaint.
Kevin, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We've located your order and we'll be in touch with you soon.

Our house is 18 years old and had the antique cherry color for the flooring. But when I checked, it was no longer available. I wanted to go with a different color anyway. I had Empire Today put down hardwood floor in the large family room. The guy brought the hardwood in and laid it down next to our flooring so I just matched it according to the grain with a little darker color because even though our house is an open floor plan, it was a separate room.
Empire Today did the installation well. The guy who installed, and the guy who was their leader, were very nice and efficient. They cleaned out everything really well. However, I noticed that whenever I put those little things on the Dry Swiffer and use it on my new hardwood floor, there is a little tint of red color that comes off on the Swiffer. I knew it was coming from the one that Empire put down because the other flooring has never done that. But overall, the experience I had with Empire was really good. Empire never showed up on the date the vinyl was originally scheduled to be installed, Saturday, June 30, 2018. That appointment had been set probably a month before. I tried calling the installation department all day, their installation department voicemail was "not accepting messages," I tried customer service and left a dozen messages on that line and never got a return call. I finally called the new appointment line and was told that someone would call me on Monday and that I had cancelled the installation, which I didn't. I wouldn't have spent an entire Saturday sitting at home trying to call Empire if I had cancelled the installation.
I didn't receive a call on Monday and after numerous attempts again to reach someone in the installation or customer service department without success, I again talked to someone in the new estimate department who said there was some problem with the credit department. I had paid about 60% of the entire installation (carpet and vinyl) at the time I contracted with Empire, I don't know what that problem could possibly have been. They had considerably more of my money than the cost of the kitchen vinyl installation.
The new estimate line contacted the customer service/installation dept. and finally got the installation scheduled for the following Saturday (July 7). The old vinyl was to be have removed, per my contract. The installer didn't do that, he said the old vinyl was adhered too tightly to the subfloor and would damage the subfloor if removed. This is something the sales person should have known at the time of the sale. They are supposed to be the experts, I'm just a customer looking for a new vinyl floor. I told installer that I paid to have the old vinyl removed, that it was in my contract, he again said it was adhered too tightly, and not to worry the new stuff would be super easy to remove since the glue they used now didn't stick nearly as tight. So the installer said I would get a refund for the work that wasn't done (I am still waiting for that refund since July 7), it is now July 30.
I asked the installer to place sliders under the refrigerator after he was done, he said they don't do that. I again asked him to put the sliders on the fridge since I wasn't capable of moving it myself, but he refused. A few days later the refrigerator was moved by a contractor and the new vinyl was ripped, I guess because it "doesn't stick as good as the old stuff" and there were bubbles all over the floor. The contractor probably hit one of the bubbles and since this new glue doesn't stick as good, the bubble ripped.
At first Empire said they wouldn't fix it, that it wasn't their fault. They would be happy to repair it but that I would have to pay, which I refused to do. Then a few days later I discovered numerous "bubbles" in the new vinyl so Empire did agree to come out and deal with the bubbles and repair the rip without charging me for that. However, that was after I threatened to cancel the balance (carpet for living room, dining room, stairs, hall and 3 bedrooms) and demanded a refund for the vinyl as well since they did a crappy job.
The carpet installers came Saturday, July 28. The refused to haul the old carpet from one bedroom and the hallway, they said it smelled bad, which it did, but the salesperson knew of the problem and should have told me that they wouldn't be able to take the old carpet from those two rooms. The carpet installers did a decent, not extraordinary job, and so far (although it's only been 2 days) the carpet seems to be fine. However, they didn't bother to leave any of the cut-out pieces for possible future repairs. I've never known carpet installations not to leave a few of the left over pieces, after all what are they going to be able to do with them. The pieces sure aren't big enough to carpet anything other than maybe a closet.
I would not recommend Empire to anyone. The only person that I got any feedback from was a secretary who at least would respond to me, so I give her high marks. The salesperson when I spoke with her after the first day when nobody showed up or called said they are so busy with the hot real estate market. If they can't keep up with their orders, they shouldn't be taking any new jobs. Overall I will tell anyone who asks DO NOT CHOOSE EMPIRE.
Linda, thank you for making us aware of this matter. We'll be further reviewing your concerns.

I looked at installing it myself through Home Depot and Lowe’s, but decided I didn’t want to get involved in it. So, I did some research online and read the reviews that people write in. The determining factor was Empire didn’t really have that many bad reviews where everybody else had a lot. So we had the flooring installed by them and it was perfect. They were fast and courteous too, and they cleaned up after themselves as well. It was phenomenal. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

I got a carpet from Empire Today before and a few months ago I went with them again to have new carpeting installed. I wanted something for heavy traffic and the new flooring has held up to my expectation so far.

I scheduled an appointment with Empire for 26 July between 4-6 PM. They did not show; I called customer service and they did patch me through to the rep; he stated he did not know of our appointment. I told him I had a confirmation number for it. He promised to be at our house @ 8PM same evening because he lives in our town. He called at 9PMish after I had texted him and said if he was not at the house at 9AM next day to forget. He immediately called and said he had a dental appointment and could be here at noon...ok one last chance. Well he arrived stating various reasons for the night before (sure). He measured our master bedroom for hardwood flooring; brought in samples which might match our other hardwood flooring (we have the SKU# and name of our flooring and asked if they could order it-No they couldn’t) and then we started to discuss price.
Our master bedroom is quite large and we have gathered 3 other estimate quotes. The rep proceeded to enlighten us it would cost $18,885.00 dollars to do our room! Both my husband and I were totally astonished! That is over $13K more than our highest quote!! We said, "No thank you." He said, "Just a minute," and called he said his boss; he said, "Wow unheard of, my boss said to leave until you all sign so we have dropped the price to $5,800!!!" WTH! A moment ago it was $18,885. Now this price. Hmmm! We are thinking that was the correct price to begin with; however, we guess he thought he could actually get us to say yes to the first price, we are seniors so this leads us to think they are not honest with the older generation!
He then asked we put down 5-10% now (not a problem) and then pay the full amount before the job begins-that’s before the installers set foot in our house! I said, "But the job is not done," and he said, "That’s how Empire does it!" Really? I asked him if he took his car into the shop for brakes would he pay $400 upfront and then let the mechanic work on his car; he said he’d have to pay to get the keys. I said, "Well we don’t mind the 5-10% and then 1/2 of the amount still owed but the final payment is when the job is completed." He said, "Are you calling Empire a shoddy business?" No we never said the word shoddy (and have not used that word in a while)! He called his boss again and got off the phone and said again how amazed he was because his boss said we could pay the final amount at completion! Hmm! Imagine that?
He packed up his samples and left after we said no deal. So we have a “gut” feeling that we were being played if not scammed because of our age. Come on from $18,885 to $5,800; to paying all monies prior to work being done to not having to? A bit fishy to us. At any age do let the rep talk you into anything and especially if you know or feel it’s not right!! We will never do business with this company and we will let anyone that asks us about them know, not to do business with this company.

I contacted Empire to put in wood and tile flooring in my home. The first installation (wood) went great. The installers were nice, knowledgeable, and efficient. Our tile has been a different story. We had too much moisture in our subflooring when they came to install the tile so we had to set up a later date for install to allow the wood to dry. All of our flooring was ripped up in half of our house and no one ever contacted me from Empire to follow up on when they would return or when the next install was scheduled for. I had to contact them after it had been a week to find out what the plan was. They set up another install date, called me at 7 am saying someone was on the way and they did not show up until 2 hours later and they only sent someone to check the moisture level (not install) the floor. This person said it was still too wet and needed a couple more days to dry out and he left.
Another week goes by, I hear nothing from Empire, I call them back and they say installation is set for a week later. Here we are going on week 3 with half of our floors ripped up, 3 kids (one a toddler who has gotten splinters from walking on subflooring), and 2 dogs and we are finally set to get the tile put in. Empire calls at 7 am saying, "Installers are on the way." It's now 9:30 am. No one has shown up and when I contact Empire they say they cannot reach our installer by phone and if they have not arrived by 10:30 to call back. This has been the most unorganized, unprofessional ordeal and I will NEVER use Empire again. They need to get it together with the sub contractors they use and come up with a better system because there is definitely no communication between the two and the customers are in limbo waiting for install and hours for people to show up when we have already had to pay for everything up front. Take my advice and go elsewhere!

This company claims to take "customer service" seriously stating "WORLD CLASS CUSTOMER SERVICE." I beg to differ. First of all, this company is by far the most unprofessional organization I have heard done business with. They show up TWO DAYS LATE of our scheduled appointment and shows up UNANNOUNCED at our home WITH ATTITUDE--as if the INSTALLER (MICHAEL, a ** male from the San Diego branch) was the one angry with us for being at our home to do HIS JOB.
Anyway, the only people home at the time was my 70-yr old dad and two sisters (both over 21 y/o). Aside from his bratty grunting and mumbling under his breath when he started doing his job, MICHAEL began making comments about our home. (These were recorded by the way). One in particular, MICHAEL had said "WHAT THE ** IS THIS **. DIRTY ** ASIAN HOUSE." Loudly and had no ounce of professionalism. MICHAEL made it seem like my parents' home belongs on "HOARDERS" or something. Regardless, I do NOT and CANNOT FATHOM how anyone doing their job of INSTALLING NEW FLOORING to make any comment like that one in the first place. WHAT DOES HE EVEN MEAN "DIRTY ** ASIAN HOUSE."
This first day of installation was on 7/26/18, Michael came to my parent's home with one other person (a very nice and professional ASIAN MAN). Michael was already throwing hissy fits and making obscene racial comments all day on 7/26/18--What kind of training does Empire Today even provide? To allow installers berate Empire Today's customers in a racial and discriminatory manner? WAIT I'M NOT DONE. ON THE SECOND DAY OF INSTALLATION, 7/27/18... OH MAN. Again, only person home was my father and two sisters however I was on FaceTime with my sisters during this encounter. So, Michael and his (professional) assistant started doing the kitchen and family room. When MICHAEL was installing the flooring in the kitchen, he DEMANDINGLY YELLED at my father and sisters "GET THIS ** OUT OF MY FACE BEFORE I ** THROW UP. THAT'S SO DISGUSTING!"
He was referring to a plate of chicken and fried rice my dad had left on the kitchen counter... and apparently house flies were in the house because we live in California and weather is 110-115F so they had left the doors and sliding open. Again, what company tolerates an "employee" to make comments like this in THEIR CUSTOMER'S HOME. Michael CONTINUALLY berated, embarrassed, disrespected my father and sisters in OUR OWN HOME with his racist unprofessionalism. My sister was helping by trying to clean out the trash being left by Michael and some on the floor in a plastic bag--my sister had placed the plastic bag (ONLY TEMPORARILY) on a little hook to just collect a few more trash pieces. BUT MICHAEL TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF and aggressively grabbed the trash bag and THREW IT OUT OF THE KITCHEN ONTO THE FLOOR.
Michael's behavior was beyond appalling and completely unacceptable. This was OUR HOME. MICHAEL IS AN INSTALLER to DO A JOB. By this time, my father and sisters have had it already with Michael's behavior. Once Michael raised his voice AGAIN towards my sister because of a plate of food on the counter, my sister had told him "What is your problem? It's just food." Michael RAISED HIS VOICE to my sister (23 y/o, 5/4" ASIAN GIRL) and angrily approached my sister less than a foot away from her face and BEGAN SHOUTING AT HER IN OUR HOME WITH HIS FISTS CLENCHED SAYING, "I DEMAND A RESPECTABLE WORKING ENVIRONMENT!"
Ok, ATTEMPTED ASSAULT. Once MICHAEL had approached my sister with an ANGRY, YELLING TONE of voice to my sister MY DAD FINALLY KICKED HIM OUT OF OUR HOUSE. I started calling Customer Service. Spoke with different representatives. I HAVE MANY REF NUMBERS because I had to call numerous times for each time this disgusting display of unprofessionalism was displayed.
I was able to speak to this so-called CORPORATE OFFICE person named "JAY **" or "JUEL **" (again from San Diego branch)--now THIS guy JAY WAS CLAIMING TO BE CORPORATE OFFICE. JAY told me after he had talked to my sister, "Like I told your sister, I AM CORPORATE OFFICE and any complaints goes through me. I handle ten thousand emails on a daily basis so I screen them and decide which ones are filtered out" AFTER I told him that I wanted to file a complaint against MICHAEL.
So I replied, "So just to clarify, you are telling me that I should not file or waste my time to file a complaint against Michael because YOU ARE CORPORATE and this issue isn't important?" Jay replied, "Yes that is what I'm saying. I am the corporate office." I replied, "So to my understanding of your tone of voice and your demeanor towards me regarding my complaint with MICHAEL, are you condoning to his behavior? Because I have not heard one "I apologize for this inconvenience" to say the least." Jay replied BY YELLING AT ME, "MA'AM DID I SAY THAT I AM!!!" I replied, "Are you yelling at me?"
JAY CONTINUE TO YELL, "DID I SAY ONE WORD THAT I AM!!!" Again, yelling at me (because supposedly he's corporate office. WHAT KIND OF corporate office yells at their customers? Jay continues to yell at me and said, "Do you want your flooring done or not. It's a simple answer yes or no. Do you want it done or not." So threatening and giving ultimatums is a standard practice of Empire Today? They commit unprofessional, racial, discriminatory acts and then threaten you to not complete installation.
I simply replied, "No, I do not want anyone from your branch in San Diego." Then, JAY HUNG UP ON ME. HAHAHA. OH MY GOODNESS, what kind of company is this? And to charge us almost $9,000 FOR THIS KIND OF TREATMENT. THIS ISSUE WILL BE ESCALATED. My family and I do not appreciate or deserve this kind of racist treatment from any company needing our business and money to be MADE FUN OF, EMBARRASSED AND HARASSED with ATTEMPTED ASSAULT from a disgusting floor installer MICHAEL.
MICHAEL CLAIMED TO BE THE SUPERVISOR too after my father said that he wants to speak with the manager. EMPIRE TODAY, PLEASE train and hire truthful and respectful employees because they are ruining this company to the ground, literally. "WORLD CLASS CUSTOMER SERVICE"??? PLEASE CHANGE YOUR SLOGAN.
Renee, thank you for making us aware of this matter. We'll be further reviewing your concerns.

As I have never been in this particular store, I have unfortunately done business with this company. My husband and I were easy sales about 3 years ago, as everything in our home was white and not a good mix with kids and dogs! We picked out of new floors. Even opted for the better carpet and have never wished we could go back in time more!!! We felt completely misled by our sales rep as nothing went the way he prepared us for. We had multiple installation problems, installers coming late or not a all for repairs and even one installer who showed up and just simply said he didn't want to do the job so he didn't. I will say after several phone calls and appointments we finally got the carpet and vinyl floors we were completely happy with!
BUT, sadly it did not last. About a year half later the gaping of the poorly installed floors got too much for me to bear and an daily used threshold came off. We called and they did send some installers out to fix that and a couple other issues. BUT, sadly that did not last. About a year later the gaping came back and the same threshold was no longer attached. They had someone come out to inspect our complaints and we got approved for a reinstall. We picked our product and agreed on real painted white wood quarter rounds. We thought everything was straight forward.
Early this month the installers came out, on time, and started working. I checked their work pretty closely given my past experiences and one installer even told me I was "difficult to work for" which really kinda floored me (no pun intended) and I kinda stepped back not wanting any of frustrations taken out on his work. After they leave it looked good and the quarter rounds were white but didn't look like painted wood... My suspicion were confirmed. When my 3 year found a scrap piece (of quarter round) and asked me what is was... compressed material with basically a white sticker around it!
I called, complained and it took more than one attempt/message to get Charles the customer service manager out of the Baltimore area not to call me back but actually answer his phone. We started communicating and after a couple phone calls we set a date last to fix those quarter rounds. That day comes, I have my schedule cleared, I have my garage set up with a window ac unit running and fan for my dogs, I have activities for my two kids, we wait the time period and beyond and no one comes and no one shows up.
I'm upset I call into the call center to complain. (Still from that date on I have not heard back from Charles or anyone else out of the Baltimore office that I have left messages with...) Through the call center I set up a new appointment for the next day. Same scenario, I was like, "Alright. I'll keep the same game plan." We were waiting, schedule clear, home activities planned, dog cool spot set up... and NO CAME AND AGAIN NO CANCELLATION CALL! I called the call center again and they said emails will be sent out and should hear from corporate. I never heard from corporate. I call Baltimore again. Haven't heard back... I call the call center again and was promised that everyone involved was included in the email and everyone in the corporate office she and someone should get back to in 24 hours but it was after hours... I am still waiting... I know feel like I have wasted my money and I know I have wasted my VALUABLE TIME!

My mom was having stuff done at her house and she said that Empire Today would do the carpet in the family room of my house all at the same time. The guy who came and showed us the products was really nice and the installers were also very good. The new flooring takes a lot of abuse because it's in the family room but it's good all around. Other than the carpet is not as pet-stain resistant as I thought, Empire was really nice to work with, very friendly and all-around good. I'd recommend them.

I have tiles in my house and I needed carpeting in the bedroom and living room with color and style that would go well with those tiles. I had a dark moon color and I got tired of it. Also, my closet flooring needed some redoing after 30 years. Empire Today had a 50-50 sale and I decided to go with them. The salesman that came out here to get the contract going gave me all kinds of information in regards to the material. At first, Empire was gonna finance me through some bank. Then I decided that I was just gonna apply for a personal loan and deal with my bank instead of going through a finance company. They made the arrangements so I could pay them at the time when the installation would be finished. The people that came to install the floors were very patient. They took their time in doing the work and everything turned out fine. I’m happy with the work that Empire Today did and with the service that I received.

I had a sales rep come to my home for the in home estimate. I wanted carpet for my living room and wood laminate for my entryway. The entryway floor is uneven so he said a transition piece would be necessary. He stated that the transition piece wouldn't be a problem for the installers. The product I chose was out of stock. Another representative didn't tell me until the day of them coming to install my carpet. So I had to wait 2 extra days for them to come out. The installer took one look at the floor and said he can't fix it. I called the company and the sales rep and after giving me the runaround once more said I have to wait like another week to have someone come out and fix my floor.

We had (and are still having) the worst experience we could have thought possible with Empire Today. The carpet installation itself was okay, except for the fact that it was/is incomplete. (One of the installers was good, one was sleeping in the car for half the installation. The door to our house was left open and unattended through the installation. We would close it ourselves and find the door open again. Also, there is a spot of dried glue used at the seam of two pieces of carpet where we are now bruising our heels on.) What's been most frustrating is the fact that the installation team did not have enough carpet to carpet one room, and Empire Today has handled the situation miserably -- our final bedroom is still without carpeted with nail boards exposed.
After informing us that they did not have enough carpet with them, the carpet installers said they would inform the company so that the installation for the remaining room could be scheduled. A customer service rep also called during the installation to ask about our satisfaction with the job. We told him there was a room that could not be carpeted, and he said he would make record of that in our account. The fact that the installation was incomplete was not communicated with the company by either party. When we called to schedule the final room, no one had record that the job was incomplete. The customer service representative we spoke with was disrespectful and unresponsive. She told us someone would call to schedule within 24 hours.
When we followed up the next day she insisted she meant 24 business hours. (That's not a thing. One would just say 3 business days.) After 3 business days, we still did not receive a call to schedule the final room. Finally on the fourth day, we scheduled the room with the Cleveland office. That installation was supposed to take place today. We called to check in to see when the installers would be arriving and customer service had no idea why no one had come. They said they would have the local office call us. After waiting a few hours, we called again.
Customer service had a hard time reaching the Cleveland office. After being on the phone for more than a half hour, we finally were told the person who "scheduled" our installation for today forget to put it in the system, and everyone's left for the day. They said our appointment is now scheduled for next Friday, but we'll see. We will have had an unfinished room, with nails sticking out of the floor that we have to avoid for more than two weeks. We feel disrespected and taken advantage of. Others in our family have used Empire Today for their carpet, but I believe that trend will stop with us.

They scratch up walls and doors. Also broke wallplates without full replacement. The color of the carpet was nice. However, it buckled as soon as short notice warranty was up. There are NO children running around nor do we wear shoes on carpet, After carpet was totally paid for trying to get them out to stretch carpet is worst than pulling teeth. There are real carpet choices that give real warranties like 7-10 years. Please do your homework because I didn't. It won't happen again. Empire carpet suck.

Summer 2017 I had floors put in by Empire Today. Upstairs bathroom and all of downstairs. Installers also installed toilets in upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. The downstairs toilet wasn't sealed correctly and water dripped from under the front of the toilet and seeped under the flooring, spreading throughout most of the downstairs flooring. Since it wasn't a flood, but rather a slow drip, it took time before the presence of water was evident.
Early this year we began seeing beads of water appear in between the floor panels. It evidently took months of buildup before the water reached its saturation point and was forced upward. I began calling Empire in May of this year to get someone out to take a look at the flooring and to determine if the problem originated from the toilet that Empire had installed. After playing phone tag with no results and calling call back numbers that didn't connect, I called in a plumber and a leak detection company. Both concluded independently that the leak did in fact originate from the toilet which hadn't been installed properly.
Now I was left with fixing the problem. When Empire put in my flooring all of downstairs was one continuous flow of flooring which meant that all of the flooring had to be pulled up and not just an isolated area. Not only that, since the water came from the toilet and was therefore classified as category 3 (sewer) water, anything that it touched had to come out. That meant all of the flooring, all of my kitchen cabinets that touched the floor and a two foot flood cut of the drywall in the bathroom and common laundry wall.
So now we're without a kitchen and eating fast food every day. After my downstairs was gutted, someone from Empire finally got in contact with me and scheduled a time to come out and inspect my floors. I told them the state of my house but still made an appointment for a representative from Empire to come out and inspect the affected area. They asked me why I didn't wait for them to come out and take a look at the problem. I told them that they were the first calls that I made and that for nearly a month, I couldn't get anyone from Empire who could make a decision to talk with me.
Their inspector was scheduled to come out during a morning time window. Didn't show up until very late in the afternoon, and the inspector gave me the impression that he really wanted to be somewhere else. He looked over the place, took some pictures and a video and asked me, "okay, what do you want us to do about it?" I told him that I want Empire to replace the floor since I supposedly had a great warranty and it was Empire's installer who caused the problem. I told him that I was still paying on the floors. The product was a bit expensive and I had chosen to finance the floor rather than pay cash. He told me that he didn't think that Empire would replace the floor but fill write out what I wanted them to do.
Next, he told me that he felt that the problem came from a drip from the water bib for the washing machine and that was what he was going to report as the cause of the problem. He was in and out in all of fifteen to twenty minutes. Next I emailed the report from the leak detection company along with pictures showing the partially sealed wax ring at the toilet connection and the plumber's report. It was reportedly sent to the decision makers and my request was subsequently denied. The reasoning came down to the visual fifteen minute inspection of their employee whose time I was intruding on.
In a nutshell, I shopped for floors from several companies and although Empire's product was a bit more expensive than the competitors, decided to go with them because the product did seem good. They also could get going on the project faster than the other companies and Empire offered good financing rates and (on paper) a good warranty. But once that warranty had to be enacted upon, Empire dropped the ball. Empire caused a problem that they refused to fix. All that I am asking Empire Today to do for me is replace the floors that I am still paying for that had to be ripped out because of their negligence. Now it looks like I have to get lawyers involved which is never a good option for any of the parties involved.
Wadsell, we're disappointed to hear about your floors. Your concerns are important to us, and we'll be following up with you shortly.

I was going to use another flooring company but Empire Today said they could do it quicker. They put in the wood flooring in the living room on a day that was pouring rain. So naturally the floor warped. Called them about it and it took them a year to come out and look at it. Two different people came out and said they would replace the flooring. That was over 2 months ago. No one has showed up or called since then. Guess I will have to get a more reputable company and pay another $2000.00.
They also did the kitchen in tile. Some of the ugliest stuff you can imagine. The installers were supposed to install it but their truck broke down so they couldn't make it until the next day. They had the tile in their truck and it froze overnight. Could not lay it that day and would have to come back in 2 days after the tile thawed. Finally showed and laid the tile. Of course it wasn't laid straight and the baseboard was left off. I'm still waiting to hear from them so I can put my kitchen back together.

I called Empire Today to see what they would come up with and the young man who came showed me something I liked. I didn't wanna make my decision that day though but he told me that if I didn't buy from him, he would not be the person that would have the sale, it would be someone else. They shouldn't push people that way. But in the end, I was very happy that I had done it. I liked the carpet and the price was not too bad. I got the low plush carpet. The previous carpet that I had gotten through Home Depot about 17 years before was wool and it wore well but I was never happy with the way it was installed. It was sloppy. On the other hand, Empire did a beautiful job and I was impressed with the installation. The installers were excellent and the carpet looked better than it ever did.

I was in my room, took a nap and watched TV and when I woke up, the flooring was correctly done. I’ve noticed that certain spots are not even though and I wish they would’ve told me that, then I wouldn’t mind putting out extra money if I had to so they could even the floor. But I love the overall experience, their prices and the bargains that they give. I went with them because they were reasonable and I wanted a professional person to do the installation.

We went to Empire for my elderly mother. She can’t get around so it’s best that people come to us with the samples. I also asked some friends about it who are elderly also and are in the same situation. They couldn’t get out and go to carpet stores and pick out things so having the company come over is much simpler. However, the sample was just a little 4 x 4 square and when they put a 13 x 30 in our master bedroom, it looked a little different but still it was fine.
