I talked with other retailers and for what I was looking to have done and the time frame that I was trying to get it done, Empire Today gave me the best option. Also, they did the carpets upstairs 10 years back. I knew what I was getting with Empire. I already had a history with them, so that worked out. I had my upstairs recarpeted and I had the wood laminate floors put down downstairs. I was getting tired of the dog hair and constantly vacuuming the floors so I found an easy solution where I could keep the house clean without having to drag the vacuum cleaner all over the place.

The guys came and moved stuff around. They took their time and did a good job. I like the way that they got the upstairs out of the way and the stairs. Then, they came back and they did the downstairs. The installers knew what they were doing and they had all the right equipment that they needed. They knew how to use it without tearing the whole house up. They did what they had to do, and they respected the house. I appreciated that. The harder part is paying for it all but I'm satisfied and I recommended them to a couple of people.

My friend recommended Empire Today and we had them install laminate wood flooring for our bedroom. Everybody was friendly and very informative. However, people were telling me that I could’ve gotten the flooring cheaper at some other places. Still, I liked everything except for the installation under our radiator. They had to cut around and it looked awful. The installers didn’t lift the radiator up, although I asked them before it happened. That was my main concern before I did the purchase because we have radiators in our home. I kept asking if they were able to do it and Empire called people who said they would deal with it.

Empire should let the contractors come out first and look at the place for installation. They should have the installers come out and say whether they can or cannot do what needs to be done. They should be open and honest if they can do the radiators or if they can’t lift it up. They should tell the customer it needs to be put up first. Empire shouldn’t do hardwood floor tile in a house with radiators.

We had carpet installed by Empire Today in four rooms of our home. We considered other options, but it made sense with Empire ‘cause it was quick and simple. We told the gentleman that came out what we wanted and he didn’t try and push anything on me. He said, “This is what I have and this is what you’re looking for,” which I liked. Even though the installation wasn’t done fast for my liking, it was done when he said it would be so I’m happy with that. As far as him coming in saying that he can do this for this much money, this day, be in here this time and be out by this time, he handled it 100%. It worked out wonderful. The cost and quality of the carpet are pretty decent and I'm satisfied.

I'm very satisfied with my laminate wood flooring and its installation done through Empire Today. I got laminate wood flooring from them for my living room. Before that, I had the kitchen done but the guy who did it got a regular, full-time job and he didn't want to do my living room. And then, as I was sitting here watching TV, I saw Empire's ad and I called them with the intention of just getting a testament on doing it. Their guy came out and he was nice. And I felt like what he offered me was a fair deal, because even though I could have gotten somebody who would have done it cheaper, I'd have to buy the flooring, install those and move everything.

Empire's people came in and they moved everything from the east side of the living room to the west side. They put the floor down and moved everything back to the east side, and moved the stuff on the west side over. I got two really good guys and they mostly spoke English when they were around me. They were here for around six hours and when they were about done, two other guys came in and helped them finish it up. All in all, they had done a great job.

NEVER DO BUSINESS with EMPIRE TODAY. This is VERY long. But it is a word of caution. Use this company at your peril. I don't anticipate an answer (and will revise if there is something that comes of it). PLEASE SHARE!!! Enjoy! Outlined the entire experience below. And as expected, he was condescending. Quoted policy-script, and worst of all... offered me $500 off if I would take the installation. I am amazed at the attitude and approach. It was NOT about money in the end... It was about a company I can trust, and I will never ever use your company again and neither will my friends, my family, or my vast contacts online.

Mind boggling how an obvious end to end mess up by your company cannot take ownership and do the right thing. It's the best $389 I have ever spent not getting your carpet, as if it was installed and something went wrong... I can only imagine how much MORE it would have cost. Enjoy a nice dinner in New York City on me. It was worth every penny. Best to your organization. You are going to need it.

I am a third time return customer for Empire Carpet. Also, my family has used your service to satisfaction in the past. Believe overall we have as a family used your services roughly 8 times. Which is why I came back for my home where I reside now in Maine. I reached out via your 800# and had an appointment with Robert **. He was professional. On time. Showed us options. The normal experience I have had with your company and said he would be available in case we had any challenges. We set the appointment to install on a rounded 4k purchase of our master bedroom, three others, and hallway a month out so there was ample time for the install.

We got a message they would be there during the "afternoon" which normally would mean to most people 1-4 which is the "afternoon" not evening. Regardless, we waited. We called and asked for an update midday and told they would be there "within the hour" this proceeded throughout the day until my work day was over and I called and told "40 minutes." It was now 5:30. Seeing a van turn down my street it was almost 6 pm when they finally arrived. Two men for a large job and what I suspected was not enough carpet to do the job as they said (barely speaking English but I speak some Spanish) they "were up for it" which I thought would mean them there until at least 11 pm having had this size job done in the past.

They entered. I outlined the work (that was outlined on the sheet by room with measurements) and they said (while speaking Spanish I could understand enough) that they did not have enough carpet to do the job... And not just a room... but the entire thing sans ONE SMALL OFFICE. At this point, my house was fully broken down without a place to sleep and no use of two bathrooms as we did as we were told and were prepared with furniture clear (I have pictures of it timestamped if you would like). I called customer service and said I was open to rescheduling if it could be done on Saturday as time off from work was not an option, or due to the ineptitude and lack of care. It was your duty to accept a cancellation with a full refund. I held up my end, your organization did not, and the simple fix was give me my money back or put it in on a weekend.

I called the sales rep Robert who was so nice prior, who apologized, said he would return my call, speak with his supervisor, etc... NO CALLBACK, then I called your customer service organization, and it was a comedy of errors with no follow up, no looking at notes, repeating myself multiple times. Finally... I got Thomas at ** in your installation department who apologized profusely, said that it was "all Empire's fault" and of course I would get to cancel and get my money back... From there I was waiting on follow up.

Finally got follow up on Monday the 29th with a voicemail and your customer service department informing me that "I" had canceled... which was NOT the case. EMPIRE massively dropped the ball and needed to do the right thing by their clients and refund my money and maybe down the line after this horrific experience if far behind me might give you a mulligan and consider your company again. I asked to be transferred to Thomas (who did not call me after the apologies) who had all the info. Instead I was put on hold and waited north of 30 minutes to speak to a supervisor for what should have been a simple thing. Empire messed up (not just shortage on rug. The ENTIRE rug, made a client wait an entire day, sent an inept small crew without even the materials to do the job, then tossed around like a football with no coordination or transaction number to satisfy what had been a loyal customer).

Short version. Fix your backyard. It's a mess. I am writing this while on hold, and we shall see if the supervisor does the right thing and refunds my money like any good company would do when they make massive errors (I have been in sales my entire life... Would never treat a client this way.. I man up and fix it). But at this point... I do not have high hopes. We shall see. If you have an interest in learning what is happening on the ground to ensure you keep the reputation of your company heading in the right direction, my direct line is: **

It is with deep dissatisfaction and disappointment that I write this correspondence. Maybe a bit too much sharing... But I lost a dear pet this month... And to cheer us up, we were replacing the rugs because as animals can do sometimes... There are stains. Instead, we have ANOTHER headache and another disappointment to deal with. Salt in a wound. At the ending of the correspondence I have been on hold for 40 minutes... And told it could be a half hour before a supervisor gets on the phone. If I ran my business this way... I wouldn't be around long. Thanks for reading this. I know it's long... But I have had a lot of time to write it.

I could not urge customers to stay away from Empire Today, more. I'll just lay down what our experience has been like so far. First, they put in the wrong carpet in two of our rooms. The form they showed me at the time of installation, said that it was the carpet we ordered. Secondly, the carpet was supposed to be put in place by an adhesive, and not tacked into the floor. They tacked it in the floor. Additionally, we requested that they leave space around our side door. They brought the carpet all the way to the door, and now we cannot use our side door without using great effort to force it open. Lastly, I asked the installer to use a silver trim where the carpet meets the tile. They used a gold trim.

When we called into the customer support line, they were beyond unhelpful. At first, they blamed us and said "Well that's why we say to watch them while they do it". I believe it is unreasonable for me to sit there for several hours, watching people work. I'm not a carpenter, I assumed I was paying a company to do what I paid them for.

Their customer service has never been proactive in calling us. Eventually, they would call us back, after we opened several cases because of the lack of response. Four days after we opened our first request, they finally told us two things. This has happened before, because the colors were so close. They didn't have the adhesive yet, so we would have to wait for any corrections to be made. Right there, they are saying they already weren't prepared for our original install date. When we asked them about the holes in the floors under the carpet, the manager on the phone said "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it." To that, I say; We're at that bridge now and we have been for a week now.

Finally, over the phone they said they would come the next Saturday, 11/3/2018. Two weeks, after the initial install. However, they "couldn't" give us a verification email or number. So who knows if and when they will be coming. When we asked to be part of the email chain, to make sure the proper people were being included, another manager said, "We don't have email that can go to customers." There is no way that is possible.

We posted a comment on their Facebook page on Friday (11/26), which they responded that they found our case in their system, and that they would call us on Monday. Well, between then (10/29/2018) and now they have erased that post. They have not called us either, which we knew they would not, per their prior lack of response.

I ask you (the consumer), to seriously consider if you want to use this company. After my own experience, and reading through several others. If everything goes perfectly, then things are fine. However, if there is anything that needs corrected, it will take everything you have to get them to correct it... if they even will. To those at Empire, you will not find a case under my name, as it is under my wife's name (different last name). You have her number, so you can contact us. I hope this finds its way to someone at the company who knows how to actually assist their customers, but I won't hold my breath.

I liked the way that Empire did business and they did not break it down to moving furniture. Larry, my salesman, was a good guy and he backed up everything he said he would. Plus, they did the installation the next day. I put a vinyl floor in about 90% of my house and had it done in two different times. I had a problem with the last group. I knew they unhooked the water of the washer because they had it backward when they hooked it back up. When they put my washer back in, they didn’t put the drain back on, and that made a big mess. The next day, when I went to do my clothes, I had three rooms full of water. Larry was supposed to come by and talk about it but he told me that they were not supposed to do washers and dryers.

Moreover, they trimmed my door to where my pantry is and they didn't do a good job on that either. I also had a little problem with communication between. One guy speaks English but the rest of them don’t. That one group, they were all up from El Salvador. But the installation was perfect and the flooring has been excellent. I’m happy for the most part and would recommend Empire.

I have a 25-year-old carpet that Empire Today did for me that's still going strong. One of the bedrooms didn't have any carpet and I saw that Empire had a sale going on, so I called them. This time around, I had them install laminate flooring and ceramic tile in my house. The second floor bedroom, two bedrooms, and the hallway were done in oak laminate. I did a nice barnwood laminate in gray for my family room, and then I did a gray ceramic tile in the small bathroom in the basement.

The color and the style of the floor was similar to a hardwood floor that my husband laid in one of the other bedrooms, so I decided to try to match that as close as possible. We had foundation work done in the family room and the basement that the tile was torn up and so we had to redo the whole room and the bathroom. I wanted something new and easy to maintain. The installers that did the flooring were excellent. The laminate in the bedroom was a two-day job because one of the bedrooms was full of stuff that I had to move out. So they had to give me time to move it out. But the first floor and the larger bedroom, and the hallway were done in one day. I absolutely love our new flooring. I really like that Empire finished off their work. They put trim around the walls of the rooms that they do, and that was important to me for a finished look. I'd used Empire again if I had another floor that I wanted done. They covered everything really nicely.

We recently had a room with asbestos that needed to be cleared to the subfloor. We thought carpet would be a great flooring option. When meeting with the sales rep, he stipulated in the contract that the installers would lay plywood in addition to the padding and carpet on 10/8/18. Empire called 10/9 and left a message saying that they did not have the carpet and would have to reschedule for 10/27. Then Empire called on 10/27 to confirm my installers would be coming out in the afternoon. Guess when my installers came? 9am. Did they have all the materials? No. The installers came and told me that not only do they not have the plywood, but they also do not install plywood at all.

Empire had us sign a contract for a service they can not provide! When I called to cancel, this multi-million dollar company would not give us our $250 deposit back, even though it was a breach of contract. I will be posting this review in multiple places to all my friends to make sure they never use this company. They will also be hearing from my attorney.

We purchased carpeting for our basement from Empire Today. The salesperson seemed knowledgeable and completed our purchase. The carpeting was quoted to have a 20 year wear warranty. Within 5 months after purchase the carpeting was matting on the stairs and at the bottom of the stairs. There are only 2 of us in the house that use the basement on a regular basis. Empire sent in 2 inspectors. They both agreed that the carpeting was matting. The 2nd inspector took samples - noting the fibers were untwisted in the matted areas. Again this carpet was quoted with a 20 year wear warranty.

Empire refused to accept the claim. They told us to steam clean the carpet. The carpet is not soiled and the 2nd inspector clearly noted the pristine condition of the carpet. It is ridiculous that as buyers we have to start steam cleaning new carpet after 5 months to counter the matting of brand new carpet. Empire totally misrepresented the quality of the carpet sold to us and then refused to acknowledge the problem although clearly noted by the inspectors. This is beyond "buyer beware" and more on the lines of fraud and deceit. Not only will I never buy anything from this company again but I will repeat my story to anyone or on any social network I can to help other avoid our mistake - buying anything from Empire Today.

But I said no. He called the office and told me he COULD come back on Friday Oct 26 to finish the job. No one called me from the office. I called on the 25th. I was told they couldn't get it done until Monday, 29th. I explained that was unacceptable because my hallway would be a mess the whole weekend. I am writing regarding my experience with Empire which was terrible. The salesman came into my house stating how great their product is and if I ever have any trouble with it they are more than willing to come and fix it as long as I own my home. Well I ordered their laminate flooring got it installed and it looked great but about 3 months later had issues with it buckling up. They came out, said it was moisture and then he looked over, saw I had a dog bowl in the kitchen, said it was my dog peeing on the floor!! My dog had never peed in my living room before so I was surprised to hear that. Then I thought I have a lifetime warranty on the flooring which is what the salesman told me, but that was not true.

I had the problem again in another area. They said, "Nope. Not covered under the warranty. We cannot do nothing about it." Sent out a person with a little machine. She said and I quote "no it's not from dog urine. Probably cleaning product. Let me see if we can come and repair that small area." Well get a call. They said, "Nope. We cannot fix it. Not under warranty for moisture." Now I am going to complain to every avenue I can because I feel Empire use moisture problems for everything not to fix their flooring.

I would caution everyone be careful buying a floor from them because they do not stand behind their product, will blame the customer for improper cleaning of the floor. I will continue to put my review out there because they are not a good company to work with. Once I started to complain their customer service people was very rude with me and even told me that I need to go purchase another floor from another company. I am going to seek help from a tv station to investigate them because I see many customers are having the same issues with their customer service after they purchase the product. I am ashame that your company work like this, I am telling everyone I know and going on social media to warn them about buying your product!!

I had a wood floor with vinyl covering installed in the kitchen by Empire Today, and I love it. I felt comfortable with the cost that they gave me. They said it was only $1,200 and I felt that the floor would be a lot more than that. The installers came in and put the flooring on top of the other floor that was ripped. They sealed it up, where the hole was and they ripped it out a bit more. They then put the compound down on it and they let the wood floor dry. As soon as it was dry, they covered it and then they laid the other floor on top of the wood floor. I love the way the flooring goes with my cabinets. The new floor is also easy to maintain. I sweep it, then use a Swiffer and it’s done.

Updated on 10/26/2018: So installation was today. Decided to saw in the house, whole house is covered in sawdust. Food and spices have to be thrown out. Hopefully the fish will survive. 6 inch nail left that if daughter found would be in the hospital tonight. Destroyed the entryway kitchen wall. This is one of the worst experiences ever. Called and service person said will send to installation. So they were no help.

Original Review: Be warned do not use this company. Took today off from the job to have a new kitchen floor installed. Sitting here with appliances all over the house which is a danger to my 2 year old daughter twiddling my thumbs expecting a call by 8 am telling me when they would be coming. Waited until 9. Called the company and they never entered it into their system. No care. Just said, "We can’t help you today. Our bad." Never have I dealt with such incompetence. Lost a day's salary because of it and all I got was, “MAYBE we can take some money off." Such a terrible company.

Empire Today's had a good sales rep and I like their cost. I had them install carpet all throughout the house and when their sales rep came in, he said their installation team would move everything. But when the actual team showed up, they said they were only responsible to move certain things so we ended up having to move a lot of furniture. Other than that, the installation was smooth for the most part and the flooring is amazing.

I had the Midday Mocha oak installed by Empire Today in the whole bottom floor of our home. They were good and fast but they didn't complete the job. I had two bedrooms, three closets, the kitchen, living room, and the hallway done, but for some reason the guy said he couldn't do the utility room, which was included in the paperwork. And I had everything moved out there but I left just the hot water tank because I was gonna wait and drain it. I'd have it shut off when they were ready for me. So I could just unhook it. I called my rep who then said, "We'll take care of it and reimburse you." I haven't heard anything from anybody else since then.

Other than that, they were nice and they did a beautiful job in the rest of the house, and we have no complaints. They knew exactly what they were doing. They were in and out of here in six hours. They cleaned up and they helped put the furniture back. Our new flooring is easy to clean and it's beautiful. It looks like natural wood.

Updated on 10/24/2018: As of today, 10-24-18, the Dallas customer Service rep (Megan) called to tell me they are doing nothing to address my concerns and the inspection report has been altered by the initial inspector (Kieth) to show me at fault and not them. Also told that there was no such thing as a third party inspector. Empire Today are liars and have no place in this industry. This is the worst by far customer service nightmare I have experienced ever!!!

Original review: On September of 2017 I contracted Empire Today to install laminate/carpet flooring in my home. Installation seemed to go well, except several months later there was a creaking noise on the laminate flooring along the baseboards. A second installation crew came back out and advised the baseboards were improperly re-installed and had to remove them and replace them with a small gap so the creaking would stop.

I also asked the lead installer at that time on the best what to maintain my laminate flooring and she told me to use a wet/dry mop with a light spray of Murphy’s Oil a Soap to maintain a new and luster appearance on my floor. I have used a small bottle of this product over the last year now and am now seeing some scattered spots of the laminate that is curling up sling the edges. In addition some of the laminate boards are separating with some being in excess of an eight of an inch gaping which is quite intrusive looking.

Last week (Thursday) I contacted the Empire Today Installation Manager and explained to him my situation and he scheduled to have a representative to come out this Monday (10-22-18). A representative (Kieth) arrived and spent about two hours inspecting my laminate flooring. His observations as he explained to me were that there was a definite gapping issue between the laminate slats which was beyond the industry standard and some definite curling. His comments to me was that it was either a defect in the installation process or a manufacture defect. After his consultation with his supervisor (Installation Manager “Chris”), it was determined that a third party was needed to re-inspect and relay their findings to Empire for a final decision.

The Installation manager advised me he would reach back out to me by end of business that same day with a scheduled time for the third party installation date. That never happened. Many attempts were made by myself to contact the Installation Manager with no response. I attempted to contact the Customer service Manager (Megan), and after multiple attempts she called me and after my explanation to her of the issue she told me there was no such thing as a “third party inspection”, and that she was the responsible person to address my issues.

After multiple attempts to contact the Installation manager to get the real story and finally reaching him he hung up on me. I immediately attempted to contact the Corporate offices of Empire Today and explained the issues to them. I requested they relay my concerns to their Resolution depart for a resolve, but as yet I have received no contact. This is the worst by far customer service nightmare I have experienced ever!!!

Their price was less than the other places I checked and their salesperson spent a lot of time with me and we went over all the products that he showed me. This vinyl one was the last palette he had and it was the color that I was looking for. I had laminate floorings at another house that I lived in and my main thing was scratched, and he said that the vinyl flooring wouldn’t scratch as easily. I had them installed in the downstairs room, living room, and dining room area.

The flooring is easy to clean and it has met my expectations. There were a few things that I call in and they quickly sent someone to repair them. I am happy with the product and with the response that I have gotten from the company. Once I pay this one off, I am planning to go with Empire Today to do the floors for the house. The Laminate that was sold to me was recommended by Empire Today for living room, dining room, hallway, bedroom and the KITCHEN all on the first floor. Buckling of the laminate began a few weeks later throughout the first floor with major problems occurring in the Kitchen where moisture caused the laminate to curl up along joints. Guess what? The laminate isn't even water resistant! It shouldn't have been suggested for the kitchen at all. Very poor product overall and no recourse to have it replaced. Next step, Better Business Bureau - left my last message today informing them of my decision.

Do not do not do business with Empire, by far the worst company ever. I had hardwood installed June 25, 2018, after 6 different times coming out, the last time September 12, 2018. The hardwood is chipped, high low pieces, butt ends have gaps that they used fill and it goes on & on. I was continually told that Ihor & Peter would be out to finish & do repairs, as they were here twice & the only ones that knew what & how to do hardwood. They were here on July 31, 2018, again on August 9th & did not finish repairs.

Another crew came out on August 17 and said they couldn't do the repairs. Scheduled again on August 29th and were a No Show. I called 27 times with no one answering. I finally received a call from Matt at 6:59 that evening that assured me Ihor would be out on September 8 or 9, which never happened and told they don't work for Empire any longer. Then on September 12, another guy comes out. The repair he did has a large chip & I ended up having to have a Carpet repair from another company come out to fix the carpet between the transit & the hardwood. For $6,600 I expected perfection. This has been a totally NIGHTMARE! Worst Experience Ever.

The sales representative came out and sold us the flooring, we scheduled the installation for 2 weeks out. The installer came out and gave us a 4 hour window and showed up at the tail end of the end of the window and stayed for 10 minutes. They suspected asbestos tile was present due to the year our home was built. That was completely understandable, but why hadn't the salesperson told us about this issue? He did the same survey of our home as the installer and if flooring is your business, shouldn't you be aware of potential issues that could have been corrected prior to the installers arriving, especially with an installation date two weeks out. Once the asbestos was tested and abated, we called the salesperson again to schedule the installation and he assured us they could come out the next day to do the installation and with his insistence, we called the home office to schedule the install for the next day as well.

The home office gave us a 10 hour window! We reserved 10 hours to wait for the installers to come out the next day. The company sent a text and called the next day to confirm the installation and remind us of the 10 hour window. Well we waited the TEN hours PLUS 45 minutes more and no one showed up nor did they call to let us know that they would not be able to do the job. Very disappointed with the way this company treats its customers, especially the lack of respect for the customer’s time. Will NEVER do business with this company and I have passed my experience along to my co-workers.

The sales rep Lynda ** came out to measure my home and show flooring/carpet samples. She completely mis-measured everything, which caused the installers to have to spend more time re-measuring. They had also run out of material and had to come back a different day to finish. She GUARANTEED the vinyl flooring to be done in 1-2 days and the carpet 1 day. We told her that was fine and they can start work on Wednesday 10-17-18. We again asked if they will have everything completed before the weekend, and again she GUARANTEED that the work would be done before the weekend.

Due to her incompetence and cluelessness, the work wasn’t done until late Saturday afternoon. As long as she got the sale done, she didn’t care about telling the truth. If she had come out and said it will take 3-5 days, then we would have had them start on Monday. She also told us the installers would hang plastic sheets around the areas where they had to tear up tile, and they did not do that so my house was filled with dust. I will get into the installers next, but wanted to point out the lies that were told to us to finalize the sale.

DAY 1: Vinyl installers show up. One guy with a very young helper. His helper looked completely lost and barely did any work. The installer had him tear up our tile in the kitchen and by our front door. Again, they did not cover up anything, so dust was all over the place. They were also so careless with the tile removal that pieces of tile were flying everywhere taking chunks of drywall out of our freshly painted walls. Due to the installer being completely understaffed, they barely finished one room on the first day. I had also received an email later in the afternoon stating the carpet would be installed the next day, Thursday 10-18-18. I then called Empire Customer Service just to verify that was correct, and was told yes the carpet will be installed 10-18-18.

DAY 2: We were told they would show up around 8 but they didn’t show up to our house until 10. Now the installer brings 2 kids with him, again looking like it was their first day on the job. We were also told by Lynda that all installers are background checked and verified, but who knows if that is the case. The carpet installers have still not showed up, so I call into Empire Customer Service and am told that I am scheduled to have the carpet installed 10-19-18. I told them no, I was told on 10-17-18 that it would be installed on 10-18-18. The service rep had no clue why I was told that when they showed 10-19-18. I later am told directly by the vinyl installer that he told the carpet installers to not come that day because he had flooring to do and couldn’t do it with them coming in and out. Again, this shows the terrible service this company claims to be so prideful of.

DAY 3: Vinyl installers show up around 9am and start work to finish flooring. I receive a call from the carpet installers that they are finishing up at a job and will be at my home at 12:00pm to start. I am told I have to disassemble any beds. The sales rep Lynda told us Empire would move all furniture, all we had to do was take the sheets off the beds. Again, more lies to complete a sale.

The carpet guys even started tossing furniture all over, damaging some walls. I call Jay ** the satellite manager for the area and let him know what is going on. He promises me the beds will be taken care of and the jobs will be completed by the end of the day, even if they have to stay late. A little after 6pm the vinyl installers inform me they are almost complete but will have to come back on Saturday morning to finish. At about 7:30pm the carpet installers inform me that they have one more room to do, but will have to come back in the morning. Now I’m being lied to by the direct manager overseeing all operations. One of the carpet installers asks us to sign the paperwork stating the job was finished because the other installer coming on Saturday doesn’t speak any English. We told them we are not signing anything until the job is complete.

DAY 4: Carpet installers told us they would be at our home at 7am, did not show up until 8:30am. Vinyl installers show up at 9. Carpet gets finished and I sign the paperwork. About 20 minutes later, the vinyl installers are in my laundry room moving my washer. They did not detach any of the water lines from the water, and proceed to snap my cold water pipe in half, flooding my downstairs. Water gets into an office I have and soaks the brand new carpet. The installer then starts to say I had a bad pipe and that’s why it broke, it was nothing that they did. As he is saying this I am staring at the hoses still connected to the wall. So because they failed to properly disconnect and the lines and take care of my appliances, I now have to call a plumber to repair this.

The plumber comes out and repairs the pipes. As he is working the vinyl installer walks over every 5 minutes to remind the plumber it was a bad pipe not them. Once the plumber is finished I ask him in his professional opinion if it was a bad pipe or if they broke it. He tells me the pipe is not old and does not appear to have any rust or build up, and that the only way it could have broken was if they pulled on it. The plumbing bill comes out to almost $500. Once he leaves the flooring finally gets finished. As I go to sign the paperwork I see he already filled it out for me, answering all the customer questions beforehand. Questions like “Would you recommend Empire”. I then check no, I would not recommend this company.

The next day a couple areas where the carpet were laid are now coming away from the walls. It is supposed to be quality work, and this is the complete opposite. The caulking on the baseboards was terrible. They got caulk all over our paint. They also ignored our requests to keep the front door closed when not in use. Overall, Empire is a terrible company. This has been a mess from the start, and is certainly not worth the money I am spending. I expect to receive a refund for the plumbing bill I had to pay, and for management to reduce my overall cost of this project.

We bought this place a year and a half ago and the carpet was worn out and I didn't realize it was that far gone. I even put up with it for a year. When the salesman from Empire Today came, he was helpful. He brought in different types of carpets which my son and I looked at. I wanted something that wouldn't be so plain and if kids got something on it, it wouldn't show up so bad. So I chose the beige carpet. It blends in with everything that I have. I had carpeting done on my master's bedroom, closet, and the hallway. I also had carpet installed in my 17 x 25 living room.

The gentleman and his helper who installed it were fantastic. They came in and didn’t fool around. They didn’t talk among themselves except when it concerned the carpet. The thing I liked about it is that when they were done, they vacuumed every piece of the carpet with a Shark vacuum and put the furniture back where I wanted it. They have very good workers. People who see the flooring complement that it's nice to look at. Overall, I would highly recommend Empire Today.

I have been very pleased with the carpet I got from Empire Today, and the installers were fantastic. They carpeted the entire house with the exception of the bathrooms and the laundry place. And then, I went ahead and put the tile in that but they ran the carpet up. They put the strips over between the carpet and the tile. They got here and they worked all day. They didn't even take a break, and I was really surprised. When they left, I gave them a tip of $100 because they did such a good job.

Before going with Empire, I've checked around and Empire seemed to be the cheapest. Also, the guy that came in to show us the carpet was very good and very professional. He wasn't pushy, and I appreciate that because I don't like pushy salesmen. He was very exact on everything, and he told us what he'd do and when they could do it. And we decided, "You know what, this is where we wanna do spend our money."

Our new flooring has been fine. We haven't had any trouble. It cleans up well. It vacuums easily. When you first vacuum them, you get a lot of fuzz off of the top of them, and we didn't get that, and that was good. Empire would be the place I'd go. We're gonna be moving to New Mexico, and I've already checked to see if they had Empire distributors there, and they said they did. So, when we buy a new house, I'll pull the carpets up because I have no idea what's been on those carpets, and we would go with Empire again.

I feel Empire poorly represented me and their company. They failed to provide me correct information to make an informed decision. Feel ripped off. Will never refer or use them again.

I did not expect Empire Today to respond and resolve the issue so quickly. I got my advance amount refunded. Thanks for taking care of this issue.

    Original Review: Oct. 19, 2018

This is a big story but let me explain in short. I was buying a home and wanted to have the new carpet installed. I scheduled a free estimate by these guys. Not sure if this is really a free estimate as their representative gets pissed off if he doesn't close the order. He was fuming when he realized that I was not in favor of giving an order. Finally, I gave the order with 10% deposit and it was my bad that I couldn't buy the home due to some unexpected contingent issues during the final walk-through.

When I called these guys and asked for the refund, they came back with the story that the advance is non-refundable and they did not pay me. They mentioned that, it is all written in the contract and blaming me for not reading the contract thoroughly. The guy who came for the estimation said that the advance is refundable. I can understand if a small local guy does this but I never expected such a big company behaves this way. I can understand that they have their own rules in the contract but their people should spell it out when they get the orders. I don't know how many people read the whole contract.

I decided to purchase carpet from Empire because of the convenience of having samples brought to the house. Sales rep was pleasant, and my carpet was scheduled to be installed on the 18th. On the morning of I got a call saying my install would be in the afternoon. Late afternoon I get a call from the installer saying he's been overbooked and won't be able to make my install that day. I agreed that he could come the next morning, which he promised would be first thing at 8:00.

At 8:45 I got the second call canceling, and I now have a promise that they will arrive tomorrow between 9:30 and 10. Will they? My confidence is approaching zero, and I have now waited around a lot. I haven't even seen whether the carpet meets expectations yet or not. I tried to call customer service to complain, and was told by auto message that I was 17th in line and I didn't feel like waiting through THAT many calls. (How about an auto call back feature Empire?) I won't use Empire again after this, and if the installers don't show as promised, I am going to cancel the job and ask for my money back.

So we had carpet installed this September, it has been a nightmare ever since. I had doubts when they first asked me if the carpet was what I picked out, I said it felt like kinda crappy carpet. Not like the sample that was shown, but I thought ok maybe with the padding down it will be better, boy was I wrong! I should have went with my gut and not even had anything done. The installers were very nice, but I felt like they were in a rush to get to their next job, they left and said they would be back to fix a few things when they were back in the area aka the translations of the carpet from the tile flooring. So he used masking tape to hold it down till he came back out, no biggie. I feel like everything was left not finished and was told that to fix it right is extra.

The sales person told me transitions and everything is included, but installers say, "Oh no. The salespeople don’t know what they are talking about." Ok they take up the old floors and say, "Oh this tile is chipped" which I never seen it chipped before but ok 1 tile. I wasn’t gonna make a big deal over, then when the carpet was put down they had to cover the crack. So along where the living room and dining room meet there are areas that are supposed to be a straight line and just go along with the crack. Called, they came out to fix the translations and tap down some racks and fix the carpet that was already coming up and tack down every doorway because every time you walk you can feel the tacks.

Later that night my daughter cut her knee open from the tacks that were taken care of earlier that day. They come out again to look and stretch the carpet and try to tack it down so it would stay, but was told if they push the racks down the carpet won’t stay so I said neither my kids are going to cut up their feet and get hurt or the carpet is going to keep coming up? Their answer was YES! I’m tired of typing because this, and this isn’t even the whole story, customer service doesn’t care, their supposedly managers don’t care and I’m over it! Not only did I not get the right carpet, it was not installed correctly and now I have to find out how to get the other 4-5 tiles that were broken from the installers coming out 4 more times to try and fix the carpet fixed. As Empire said “they won’t take ownership for breaking the tiles”!

I took off of work, removed all of the furniture and took my dogs to boarding. I was told by a “supervisor” in the call center that Friday I would be the first instillation and she promised to email me her contact as soon as our call ended. That didn’t happen and the 9 am install I was promised is now a 8-6 window. I hate to write a poor review but I would not recommend Empire. Robert the salesman was a class act but the service after the sale is very poorly run. The installation department is like The Wizard of Oz, no one can speak to them or question them. Empire advertises so much that I guess they don’t need to satisfy customers. If I could give zero stars I would have.

After that, we looked at some other colors and I decided on a different color. It was okay because it was in the bedroom area versus what I had out in the front room. It was close to my furniture so it worked. The laminate flooring is great and the color looks and feels good to touch. The person who came and talked to me was very cordial and friendly. He worked within my budget to get it where I needed it. Empire’s pricing was a little on the high side but getting it done quickly and in a timely manner mattered more to me at the time. Here is what has happened so far with this whole process. It all started when I received the first email and call from Empire Today confirming the Hard surface installation for 09/29/18. As the email stated I boxed up all breakables, removed everything from the walls and moved it all into the 2 bedrooms that were scheduled to have carpet installed on 10/6/18. On Sat morning I received a call again confirming installation and that the installer was on his way. Shortly after that the installer showed up by himself and told me that NO installation was happening today as the flooring needs to acclimate to my environment. This was surprising to me because I was NEVER told this was something that happens and had taken the day off of work in order to be there for the demo, I could have avoided moving everything if I would have known that nothing was happening that Sat (Empire Today wasted my time).

When I called customer service they said, "Oh, I see your install is scheduled to start Monday 10/1/18," and again told me about the product acclimating. The question I have is that if the product needed to acclimate to the temperature of my home, why did the guy leave all the product in my garage which was hot and Humid??? Monday 10/1/18 the same guy that dropped off the flooring in my garage showed up with one other person and started to remove the tile as well as putting my stove, washer and dryer in the garage. They worked form 8-4 and said they would be back Tuesday 10/2/18 to finish demolition that was left and do the installation. On Tuesday only one person showed up and stayed for about an hour, then stated that he can't keep doing this because it would take him 3 days and proceeded to call Empire.

I then received a call from Empire saying that I would need to pay a third party to grind down the floors. The installer recommend me call a company which I did and the floors were level by Thursday 10/4/2018 for an extra $2200.00!!! I called Empire and rescheduled my carpet for 10/13/18 as the bedrooms were full of all the furniture from the rest of the house, and they said I could have the hard floors installed Sat 10/6/18. On Sat 2 new people showed up at 7:30 am and said that they would probably have to do more leveling and that this wasn't their install job because they were just picking it up from someone else. I told them that I had just paid to level all the floors, and they agreed to start the install.

They only worked until about 4 pm and didn't patch any of the large cracks on foundation. The concrete contractor told me that the concrete will need to be filled in and the installers should do that as he saw that we had bags of patching in the garage that was left with the materials. I did notice that there were 7 bags of patching that was in the garage along with the flooring. When I called to speak to an installation manager the customer service agent said that the manager wasn't available, then called to speak to the installer, and got back on the phone with me saying that the installer said they don't patch cracks. WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH? The 2 guys said they would be back Monday 10/8/18 to finish the install of the hard surfaces.

On Monday they both showed up again and continued the installation of the flooring in the hallway leading to the guest bath. They then said that if we are having the carpet in the bedrooms installed Sat 10/13/18, that they should take out the tiles in the bedrooms today Monday 10/8/18 because the people who install the carpet would not be able to demo the tile and it would delay the process even further. I agreed and then helped the installers move all the furniture out of the bedrooms (including small items we were not prepared for) and into the living room and outside of my house. They stayed until 8 pm on Monday 10/8/18 so that all the demo was done, but they had to come back Tuesday 10/9/18 because they didn't have enough baseboards or any of the molding for under the cabinets to complete the installation of the hard surfaces.

I ended up calling out of work Tuesday 10/9/18 so that they could complete the install because I didn't feel comfortable leaving anyone in alone in the house. Monday I was outside while the demo and installation was taking place and I hear 2 kids voices and a different voice speaking to the installers, the installer had let someone come into the house with his 2 kids who was doing work in a nearby neighborhood. Since I was home, and the man was already in my house, I proceeded to speak with him about the kind of work he does. Although I was home for the day to keep an eye on my house, I was surprised to see a stranger in my home talking to the installer. Imagine if I were to leave the installers here by themselves who else might be coming into my house other than employees of Empire!

The installer finished the installation by noon Tuesday and I called again to double check that the carpet would be installed Sat 10/13/18 as I didn't want any more surprises or excuses. They assured me that it would happen and not to worry. On Sat Morning I moved all the furniture again to the living room and waited for the installers to show up. When they showed up they took out the tape measure and informed me that one room of carpet was too long and they would have to cut it down but couldn't because it was raining outside and my garage was too small. They also told me that the second room of carpet was larger than they thought and did not have sufficient product on hand; and no product was available on Monday, but they could not get anything done until Tuesday 10/16/18.

I was so upset at this because this whole process had been such a headache. I rescheduled the carpet install for Tuesday after I get out of work, making this the 18th day into installation for flooring. The sales rep said that the process would take 2-3 days. Tuesday 10/16/18 is supposed to rain again so I am hoping they will be able to complete the work as scheduled.

I attempted to call the sales rep who sold us the flooring and also called to ask for a corporate rep to call me back and I am still waiting for a callback. One likes to give the benefit of the doubt despite, some bad reviews. The reviews turn out to be accurate. Empire Today, you are one of the largest flooring businesses in the country, everyone knows your jingle when a commercial comes on. Flooring is YOUR business, all aspects from sales, installation and delivery is supposed to be an automatic, synergistic and nearly flawless process, you do this every day. I know nothing about the flooring business, and rely on professionals to inform me about the process and timeline with the events as they will occur; this eliminates the risk of your customers packing the entire house into the bedrooms because the communication confirmed hard floor install, only to find that someone will simply drop off materials.

Alicia, I kindly ask for compensation above $250. I believe that someone dropped the ball here, but everyone one subsequently followed suit. The process should be an experience, with systems in place to reduce the risk of KNOWN obstacles. Your customers deserve a bit more respect and information, wouldn't you agree?

I scheduled an appointment to get a quote on new flooring for 9-10-2018 @ 6 pm. The representative didn't get to our house until 7:45 pm and when he started to take measurements his tablet died. He did apologize for the inconvenience and rescheduled for the next day 9-11-18 @ 5 pm. The next day he didn't show up until 7 pm and said that he was there at 5 but nobody was home, which was not true. We let it go and get our estimate for the floor, signed the documents and paid the amount in full. I was told that if we schedule the installation the spot we would get the price we were quoted and paid in full, so I scheduled for 9-17-2018 @ 8 am.

On the day of the installation the installers didn't even show up until 11:30 am and showed me a bill saying that they couldn't start until I paid $600, even though I had already paid in full. I kept calling customer service trying to get it resolved but nobody was able to assist me. I paid them the $600 so they would start installing my floors and kept trying to get a hold of the person that had come to the house and gave me the quote. After multiple calls I get the billing department and they gave me the $600 back.

In the meantime the installers didn't have everything they needed to finish installing the floor so they left and said someone will call to finish the job, but couldn't tell me who or when they would come back to finish the job. Once they left I checked the floors and noticed that they had left loose nails, staples and dust from cutting the floors all over my living room and the basement.

When I went into my garage to grab a broom to clean up the mess I noticed that it was missing and the installers had taken it out of my garage. So I spent an hour going through the living room and basement cleaning up the mess they left behind, using a dustpan and small brush. I also noticed that they installers got coking all over my brick fireplace. I tried to clean that up but was unable to get it all off. I called Empire again the next day to find out when they are going to come back to finish the job and to file a complaint about the mess the installers left behind and the coking they got all over my fireplace. I told the customer service rep that I have a child and a pet and that it was unacceptable that they installers left nails and staples all over my living room. Had I not checked and cleaned up someone could have been hurt.

The rep. told me that he would have someone in my location call me to set up a time to finish the job. I heard from the local installation manager the next day and he told me that he would send someone on Saturday 9-22-18 to finish the job. He also said that he would talk to Corporate about the complaints that I had to see if they can give me some kind of refund/credit for the problems that were caused. On 9-22-18 someone did come in to finish the job and when I asked if he his manager had any new information about my complaint, he had no idea and told me to call again. I called them again and tried to get a hold of Megan the person who helped me to make sure that I get the work finished and she told me that she would also call me back to see if Corporate can do something for the inconvenience caused by Empire, but she wasn't available.

I tried calling again on 10-3-2018 to if I could get a hold of Megan or anyone located in my area and was told sorry no one is available but we will have someone call you as soon as possible. By this time I have told 4 employees with Empire about my experience with the company and I kept getting the same response that someone will be in touch with me.

A few days later I got what I thought would be a letter from Empire but it turned out to be a bill dated 10-8-18 for $600. I called the billing department to ask why I was getting a bill when I had already paid the full amount due on 9-11-18. The rep told me that he is not sure why that happened but according to their records I still had an outstanding balance. I informed the rep to look at the notes on the account and they should say that this matter was resolved on 9-17-18 and that the $600 should not have been charged and in fact was credit to back to me on the same day. The rep said that he could see the credit but no notes as to why, even though every time I talked to anyone on the phone with Empire they told me that they were making a note of the conversation. The rep told me that he would have to have a manager look at it and would have them give me a callback.

On 10-15-2018 I called the billing department again to see if they had figured out the error that they had made and I was directed to collections department manager Marguerite and she told me that she would have to look into it and call me back. I let her know that I have been dealing with Empire since September and I keep getting told that someone will call me back but nobody does and when I call I keep getting a different department in a different state and have to retell what has happened, at which point they try to get a hold of someone in the Columbus Ohio location only to never be able to get someone on the line EVER. Marguerite assured me that she would call me back on 10-18-18 and that if she didn't call me I should call her since she would be out of the office for the rest of the week.

I called her on 10-18-18 and got her voice mail and left her a message to call me before she left for the week. She did call me back and said that she had the billing error corrected and I shouldn't receive any more bills from Empire. I asked her if she also had any updates about what I was told by Megan and she informed me that she did not know about that and had done what she said she would do for me. I am upset that she said this even after I had explained to her in our earlier conversation, in detail about what I have been dealing with since I decided to go with Empire and all the mistakes that they have made. She told me she couldn't help but transferred me to the Columbus Ohio department and said that they would be able to help me. After being transferred I get the answering machine and am left with no alternative but to leave a message that will NEVER be returned.

My frustration with Empire is that I agreed to pay them $1200 upfront, had to agree that I would only get this price if I moved all the furniture myself and signed a contract that said that was what is owed and had already paid. Then I have installers show up who refuse to work unless I pay an additional $600 which I was assured at the time I signed the contract that I wouldn't have to pay. I spent hours trying to get it resolved, only to realize that the job wouldn't be done and they would get back to me on when it would be.

To make matters worse they did a CRAP job on installing and left a mess for me to clean up, and let's not forget decided they liked my broom better so they took it. I never got a callback and had to call them every time and repeat the situation over and over again because they kept telling me they were making notes on the account but never did. To add to the frustration they sent me a bill a month later saying I owed them money even though I received a call on 9-17-18 telling me that I don't because I had already paid in full.

They caused the second issue. The third time out the repair was done to a quarter of my floor but the color is off from the rest of the floor and I cannot get Empire out to repair that and the spaces are showing up between the laminates. The Empire Today experience is awful. The salesperson, although nice and a 20 year veteran of the company, was willfully ignorant about the product he sold and its installation process (we actually met with him twice - the second time the product and service happened to be $2000 less...). The assured one day installation took over four days and was poorly done. We've now been in talks (which is us repeatedly calling and being given the runaround) for two months now. On two occasions Empire scheduled someone to come resolve the installation issues. They never showed up, and they scheduled the original installers (who we are very certain stole from us). We are still trying get them to fix the problems with installation - uneven boards, chipped finish, cracked boards, bowing transitions, and missing quarter-round.

One star is far too generous. STAY CLEAR. The arbitration clause is binding and has essentially rendered us endowed to their will. This is only part of the problem too. Their customer service is completely inept, there are NO SUPERVISORS to speak with, and everything they do is out-sourced. Empire is a company by name only - they DO NOT DO ANYTHING on their own - everything is handed out to subcontractors which completely saves the company in arbitration. CHOOSE ANYONE ELSE. I'm in the Chicago region.

She said I want to cancel and then was transferred to another person to convince her to install. She canceled. My mom spent two days waiting for the carpet! Empire should be ashamed of taken advantage of the elderly like that! We will not be recommending your service ever again.

I was looking for a flooring that wears and something that would be comfortable to walk on. I've seen Empire around as I've worked in a construction business and I also heard comments from people. I had them put linoleum in the kitchen and carpet in the bedroom and the installation went well. The threshold with the kitchen backdoor has come loose though and I was getting ready to call them. Nevertheless, Empire did a great job overall. I was surprised with the many turns and cabinets in the kitchen and the way they were sitting there. The crew was able to put it down in one piece without cutting it.

We finally got a firm confirmation for an appoint after rescheduling 3 times. An email and phone call were received confirming our appointment and time frame. We anxiously waited all day. No one showed up, called or emailed us. So I gave them one more shot and made an appointment online this time. Again, a confirmation was given for today between 1 and 3 pm. No one showed up again! I did get a call to reschedule but after over a month of waiting for an estimate I lost all faith in this company and did not reschedule. Apparently Empire does not value our business.

I am the property manager for a luxury rental property in Baltimore. When the representative met me at the house, his first words were "are you the decision maker and will you be making the final decision today". I informed him that I was the property manager representing the owner and that I am the decision maker but I may not be making the final decision today. Final decision would be based on their estimate. Upon hearing that, he told me he was going to his car for carpet samples and never came back. As I am waiting for him to return, customer service calls me and states the representative that met with me told them I wanted to reschedule. So I explained that was not true and that I was waiting for him to return with carpet samples. Customer service said he would call the representative back and I never heard from either of them.

After about 20 minutes I called back and was told that the owner of the property must be present for them to give an estimate. I explained that the owner of the property has hired my property management company to handle all matters concerning the property and we have a contract in place with owner to make all decisions. Apparently, they did not want the business if the owner could not be present. I thought it was very rude and very unprofessional to be treated this way and to waste my time waiting for his return when he actually left.

My goal was to get a few estimates before making the final decision but my next appt that day was with Luna and the representative from Luna was wonderful and I ended up signing a contract with them that day. The Empire rep was not interested unless I was going to sign a contract but if he would have not been so rude and left I very well may have signed with him. This is Empire's loss and Luna's gain because my management company manages over 50 properties in the Baltimore area and this could have been a good working relationship. I will make sure all our business contacts are aware of the service we received from Empire.

I had the furniture moved out before they came and so they took about 2 hours to do the installation. After installation, the flooring is perfect and it looks really elegant.

Made an appointment for a Friday evening, 5-7pm window. We left work early to make sure we were home by 5. At 6:30, we get a call from the salesman - he says he can't get to us that night, they were behind schedule. Told him that's ok, we would look elsewhere. A few minutes later, a sales "manager" calls and says he will come himself, around 8:30. At 8:45, he calls and says he was in a car accident and couldn't make it. Sent us a picture of what looks like a deployed airbag as "proof", lol. Hate dealing with companies that can't meet their commitments. Stop trying to front-load your schedules, and deliver on what you say you can do.

The laminate blended in with my furnishings and my steps going to the upper part of the house. I also like the way that they trimmed the flooring around the chimney in the living room area. I’m overjoyed about the new flooring because I had carpet first and I got tired of cleaning it. The workers were cordial and they did the work at a timely pace. They came early so they finished early which made it wonderful. One of my girlfriends came over and saw my floors. She said it changed the house altogether so it was a good investment.

The sales rep that came out, Nicole **, was so knowledgeable and helpful. I had to make several changes to our original order of what product would work for our hot water heat situation, not to mention all of the changes of where I wanted the tile and the carpet. Nicole was so understanding and on top of it, she made the changes "lickety split" and all was well! Now then, about the installers. Jesse and Omar were unbelievable! They showed up on Saturday at about 8, and asked if I would mind if they worked a little later. (UMMM NO!) Well they sure did, until about 8:30. This was no easy install either. The carpet they had to tear out was down for 35 years... you can imagine the dirt and rotted padding etc. not a complaint, shoot they barely took a break! And they were back Sunday morning to finish the install. And what a fantastic job they did!

Now the product, this stuff looks and feels just like tile, stone tile. So thrilled to have a nice clean beautiful floor! I have been contacted by Nicole around 4 times to make sure everything was going well! Who does that anymore??? In my experience, very few! If you need new flooring, I would urge you to call Empire! I also have carpet coming in a few days... so blooming excited to get rid of the rest of the 35 year old carpet... AND THE DIRT!!!

I order vinyl tile to be put in my foyer, and eat in kitchen. I also purchased subflooring. Installer told me that subflooring was not necessary because my floor was adequate for direct installation. After installer left I immediately contacted company to get a refund for my subflooring. After a few months I was refunded. One month after my refund I noticed that my floor was moving and sliding near my heater. I decided not to contact until weather broke. In May 2018 I started to make calls about floor. No one ever responded to me because customer service was going off old ticket which was satisfied with my refund of subflooring.

Finally I spoke to representative who paid attention to what I was saying and schedule a service appointment. This was in August. They only do repair in my area on Wednesday thru Saturday. I am only available on weekends. My repair was canceled several times by the installer. Now we are at the end of September and repair guy comes out and tells me that my floor is shifting because of no subflooring and the whole floor needs to be replaced. I was happy that Empire was willing to give me new floor done the right way with no add cost to me.

Now we are in October. I have a scheduled repair on October 12, 2018 so I move my refrigerator, stove, table from out of my kitchen and two heat radiator. (300lbs a piece) The installer come at 12:30 ripped up my floor leaves at 8:00 pm and says they will finish the next day at 10 am. They never show up and say truck broke down. They said they don't work on Sundays but would be back. They never called or showed up. I called customer service no one had a clue about Sat or Sun. So now I sitting here with no heat (It's 48 degrees). No way to cook with two small kids in my house and no return service date. To say I am upset is a understatement.

You can’t fix it yourself either, because they don’t sell materials separately. You have to wait for a response, have an installer come out to the property, give you an estimate then fix it. Also we had a wooden entrance and I left that in. I shouldn't have done that because it took a while to get used to the two different woods. I was also disappointed that the flooring is a little bit harder to take care of than I thought it was gonna be. I have to use a special product and a certain kind of vacuum cleaner. But other than that, it's pretty good. I like the way I can move furniture around easily on the flooring. We had Empire Today install some Berber rug in the bedroom and the living room. And we had them install hard vinyl flooring too in the bathroom and the kitchen based on the recommendations of my friends. I'm doing a baseboard work right now because when I painted everything in these rooms, I wanted the rugs being put down. I took up the old baseboards so the rug would be put all the way flush against the wall. So now, the baseboard is going down over top of the rug. We’ve had a return on the Berber rug inside the living room because when I vacuumed it, the loose seam of the rug got to the part of the vacuum down at the bottom where it’s got the rollers and was sucked up into the vacuum. I called Empire, they set the appointment up and the contractors came back and they repaired the seam.

I have intentions of having Empire come back and complete the rest of the house. I've only done about 70% of the house. When the salesman came and explained, “We’re gonna do this much. And then when this is paid for, we’re gonna go do the other side and continue.” I have found a flaw, but it’s a not a defect that affects any walking in here. There’s a piece of trim work and they need to work it right at the threshold. They had to put weights. In fact, they had used my barbells to hold it down while it sealed and heal. But when you get back and look from a distance, it’s all crooked. I didn’t call and complain about it because whenever I get them to redo the rest of the project, I’d have them correct that if they could. Other than the issues, I’d recommend Empire Today. The folks who came in here and did the work did a fine job. There had been issues but they came back and fixed them.

They refused to just install my bedroom so could at least survive day to day until rescheduled installation. I talked to Headquarters department in Baltimore, several supervisors and they all refused to get them back here to install the bedroom. They said the lot color would not match. I didn't care about that, but still they refused. House torn apart, large furniture drawers have to be put back and after about 2 hours by myself, everything was back together.

I called a carpet company who had installed a piece of carpet for me previously. They agreed to come out the next day and install carpet for a much better price.

Don't call Empire if you want customer satisfaction, they won't do it. I told them they should be ashamed of themselves, putting me through all that work twice for nothing. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and 7 On Your Side news. Empire Today chooses themselves over their customers. BAD BUSINESS!

I've used Empire Today in the past and they did a good job then. This time, I needed a carpet installed and I needed to get it done within a two weeks' period of time. I talked to another company but they were really slow in getting back to me. So, I went with Empire again. I had modular carpet installed in all the bedrooms and the living room area. It was a reasonably priced, decent carpet. I liked the look of it and it was the right carpet to put in there. Everything was fine with my experience with Empire. In the future, I would go back to them if and when need be.

I have been a 3 time customer with Empire, so decided to give them a call when I needed to replace old carpet. The Salesman came to our house to give bid on 9/30/18. He advised that my carpet was available and could be installed on 10/8/18. I received a call on 10/5/18, advising that my carpet was not available and would not be here by the installation date on 10/8/18, after we both my husband & I had rearranged our schedules. I requested they call me back on today to verify my carpet would be ready to be installed on my new date of 10/13/18. No word yet from the supervisor who was suppose to call me back and let me know.

Updated on 10/13/2018: We did receive a new date for our carpet to be installed, which was today, Saturday, October 13, 2018. We were advised again to confirm our appointment, arrange our schedules, and clear out rooms all of which we did. We received a call at 10 a.m. today that our carpet would again not be installed (again) because the installer did not come in. We requested someone else be scheduled using OT if needed and were advised no one had the capability to authorize something like that. My husband has now wasted 2 vacation days for absolutely nothing.

I spent 1/2 the morning on the phone with no assistance whatsoever. Really terrible customer service! I am a customer assistance manager and would never treat my customers as I have been treated today! I have left messages on at least 5 different voicemails without response. My house is in total chaos from all the items in 3 bedrooms and I have company coming this week on Tuesday, which was the reason I wanted the new carpet in the first place. I asked to be rescheduled to Monday, as my husband is off and he would not have to take another day off (which he believes will be for nothing) as we have lost all faith in Empire. I was unable to get a Monday appt and the first appt they have is NEXT Saturday possibly? This is unacceptable!

It is amazing to me that there no managers on duty ANYWHERE to deal with emergencies like this? I very much feel like since we are doing only three rooms that we are not an important customer! It would be a blessing to receive a call back on Monday morning and get our installation scheduled for Monday, October 15, 2018. I think we have been patient and deserve a little understanding in order to finally get our carpet installed.

They say that it is a subfloor repair and they don’t repair subfloors. I don’t feel it is the subfloor because only one tile has come a loose and if there was a problem with the subfloor then it would be the whole floor would be weak and it is NOT! Empire has been good to us in the past but now I would never ever recommend them to anyone! They are expensive and the sales people are friendly but if you have a problem you are screwed!

Home Depot told us that if we buy $300 carpet, the installation was gonna be free. But then when they came down to it, it was not free. They charge for a lot more stuff that was in the little print. So then, we opted to go with Empire Today. They were supposed to take the carpet out, clean up, and re-put the carpet. But we had already taken the carpet out as well as the padding. So when they did the estimate of how much the cost will be, I told their guy that the carpet was already out, and then they gave us a little discount. I had carpet put in 5 bedrooms, the living room, and the study room in the back. They did a good job. They cleaned their work too.

I let Empire Today do the work in my house and they did a really good job with the carpet all through the house. I also had a hardwood floor put in half of my kitchen and ceramic tile on the other half. Both of my bathrooms have ceramic tiles on the floor too. The guys who did the hardwood floors came one day and the ones who did the ceramic floors came on another day. The carpet was done on the third day, so it was coordinated. They were good craftsmen and they didn’t talk much because they knew what each one was doing. The most conversation I had was with the ones who put my carpet down. They were courteous and nice too. I asked a lot of questions and they didn’t have any problems answering them.

Empire did a nice, good job and about everybody who comes to my home comments on how nice the flooring looks. The only thing is, with the hardwood flooring is half hardwood. It's really called a floating floor and some parts of it squeaks when I walk on it. It cost me $6,000 for having the whole house done inside so it better be holding up over the time. Overall, Empire did well for my first time experience with them.

I was real pleased with Empire's price and the quality of carpet that was brought out. So, I had them install carpet in the house and in four bedrooms. Once I chose the brand that I wanted, everything turned out fine. Empire was very good and I had no problem with how they did my work. I was really pleased with the way they installed the carpet, the time they got here, and how they did the entire thing. They said I had to take the beds down in the bedrooms, which I did, but I did not know that they were going to stand my dressers up rather than taking them out straight, and when they did that everything fell down to one side. That caused me a problem because I had my jewelry in some of the dresser drawers and I couldn’t find it afterwards. Had they told me that that was what they were gonna do, I would have moved my jewelry.

In the end, I had to have my son-in-law to come here as the dresser drawers didn’t come straight out. He had to have some type of screwdriver to take them out and he found several pairs of my earrings, beads, buttons, and any kind of thing that you would have normally in a dresser. Right now, I’m still missing about five pairs of earrings which are somewhere lost up in there. Other than that, the carpeting has met my expectations by 100%. I have recommended Empire Today to my friends but I told them that when the reps come, they should make sure to ask the reps not to turn the dressers up. Once the Empire reps get there and see how much space they have to deal with, they can let the clients know that there may be something in those drawers that they'd want to move.

I called Empire to try to schedule an appointment for fixing the gaps and chips. I was told to take pictures and sent it to them. No one came to inspect. This was considered a repair and the first appointment would be on a Monday morning October 1st. I waited all day. Finally called them. Was told they are not coming until Thursday morning first appointment, because they had to send the same installer which were already scheduled. I explained my situation that I have a contractor who is working on a timeline for the installation of cabinets and etc. May I have an earlier appointment. No can do because they can't get the flooring in time from the warehouse. What?

On Thursday the same installer called and said he had gone to the wrong appointment and would arrive around 2:00 pm. He was sorry. I called to cancel and reschedule for the following week first thing Tuesday morning. They still showed up at 4:30 pm. He said he wasn't aware of the canceled app. They discussed among themselves if they could fix it and even insinuated it was me or the contractor who could have damaged the wood floor because there was work still going on. I have picture of the chips and gaps before the work started and sent the pictures to Empire. One of the installers filmed the floor and took pictures. He was very unprofessional and rude. The floor is still not fixed. I will never use this company again. I will pass my negative experience on to my friends and colleagues.

Customer service rep. Lloyd ** set the tone for my service needs. He listened and was very patient then took action. After he spoke with his manager I was able to have my carpet stretched from a previous Empire installation at no charge on the same day my scheduled carpet installation for other rooms was being installed. He really made my day. When the installers came on my scheduled date I explained to them that I just had the two bedrooms, hallway and living room painted the week prior so if they could please be very careful not to scratch them. They did a very good job with the carpet, however my sliding closet door had been removed and was leaning against the wall so I brought it to the attention of one of the installers and he tried to put it back on.

When the other installer came into the room he claimed it was never removed, so I told him it was not like that before (although I'm not sure if he understood what I was trying to tell him very well because his English was very broken) so the other installer translated to him what I was saying as best as he could because his English was a little better. One of the wheels on the bottom of the door was missing but he would not take responsibility for it.

After they left, I noticed the wall next to the bathroom in the master bedroom was scratched and the borders in both bedrooms were scratched also. I was very very disappointed because I had previously informed them that the walls had just been painted the week prior. I do understand that this could possibly happen to the borders because of the tools they have to used but the scratch on the wall was no excuse. I must add that I have used Empire Today in the past and had no problems, they did a very good job but this current experience with the installers was a first.

I was scheduled to have both vinyl and carpet flooring installed in my home on 9/24. I was told with very short notice that the vinyl was not in the warehouse and that I would need to reschedule for them to come out and install. I work in Law Enforcement and only have Mondays available for them to come out to my house. I scheduled for them to come the following Monday. I was emailed that day that my appointment had been rescheduled for another day. No one called me to ask if that was okay. I called the customer service line and was told that I was going to be placed in high priority due to the mistakes on their end of the deal.

The installer came out that day (10/01) and advised me that he had forgotten some of his supplies and would need to come back the following day to finish the job. He asked if I could leave my furniture in my kitchen/den area in the meantime which was pretty inconvenient for me but I agreed. The following day I never received a phone call from the installer and he didn’t end up arriving until that afternoon even after I explained that he needed to come early due to my work schedule. He came without the vinyl product and said that he would come for a THIRD day the next day (10/03).

Today is 10/03 and he hasn’t shown up. I called customer service and they stated that I am not scheduled until the 8th and that there is nothing that can be done. My floors in my home are stripped up and my furniture is strewn around my house. The whole place is in disarray and I am extremely unhappy with this company. I was told that the job would take less than a day and it has become a three day job (probably longer knowing this installer and his forgetfulness). No one seems to care that my house is destroyed due to the flooring completely gone, my furniture is cramped throughout my kitchen, and the installers left a bunch of their extra carpet throughout my home. I will never use this company again.

It feels like there is no padding whatsoever... like someone threw down a piece of carpet directly on wood. I can even hear the boards creaking under foot when I walk. At least 10 people from my neighborhood have all walked on it and can't believe how awful it is. I'm so disappointed in the product and the customer service. I had to hound them multiple times to get a call back and finally they send an "inspector" which was just the foreman from the installation company. Then they communicate back to me that nothing was faulty with the product so there is nothing they can do. I can't believe I got duped into buying this. It makes me want to cry... Let me start by saying I have used Empire Today in the past and had no problem with them. Therefore, when I bought a new house and needed new carpet for the entire house, I automatically called them. My sales rep was fine and got the price down to around what I wanted. We set up the install for a Saturday because I work and they said it would take all day. The day comes and the AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL warehouse gave the installers the wrong carpet for my master. The other 4 carpets were correct though, and everyone makes mistakes so I said they could come back later and install that one and to just install everything else. They go to cut one of the carpets and they notice that the warehouse only gave them 22 feet of one of the carpets instead of the 26 ft that it was labeled. Therefore, they could do the rooms, but not the closets - they'd have to come back and do those.

Finally, the last carpet that they unrolled had been accidentally cut at the warehouse in such a fashion that they didn't have enough carpet to complete all 3 areas I wanted that carpet. So they said I would get a call back within 24 hours. I did not. I called on Monday and they told me it was 24 business hours and to just wait. They did not call. I call on Tuesday and they say they left a message and that I will definitely get a callback. They did not. I was given the warehouse installation number and I tried to call but nobody answered so I left I voicemail. I tried to call a different part of their number and the voicemail box was full. Finally on Wednesday, I talked to a floor manager of customer service (Celina).

She was great and basically sent out this e-mail saying there would be consequences if I didn't get a callback. Finally, my sales rep calls me and asks when I want my carpet installed/fixed and I say Saturday because I work. So he tells me they can do saturday. The next day I get a call from someone asking if I want to schedule my install. I told them my sales rep told me it was Saturday and he goes "Oh, I think we can do that, let me check". So clearly, there is miscommunication. Finally Saturday comes and they call me to tell me they are on their way but - SHOCKING - they weren't given the carpet for my master still. So they fixed the other 2 problems but I called on Monday to schedule a time. I talk to another floor manager (I think Carissa?) and she also seemed really great and said the installers could come Wednesday.

I asked for a discount because this is ridiculous and she said once it's installed, I can get one. At this point, I really want my carpet in so I tell them I will take off work. So now it is Wednesday and I don't get a call in the morning saying they are coming. I call the customer service and - AGAIN SHOCKING - I am not on their list of installs today. So now I'm waiting to see if they actually call me today like the new floor manager I talked to (Valerie) said they would. She said some guy named Jason with the install department was supposed to take care of everything and she has a call in to him but he wasn't picking up. So I told them I need to be compensated for my time because I literally took off work today. She said she made a note of that. I'm not sure how this will end but if you want to go with a business who actually communicates with their clients as well as actually INSTALLS the CORRECT carpet... look somewhere else.

I had carpet installed by Empire Today. I purchased the top grade they got and it’s a gray mix. I had it installed in the dining room, living room, hallway, three bedrooms, and the closet. It’s soft, cushiony, and clean, and it smells good. My experience with Empire was great and when I get myself straightened out, I’m gonna call Empire back and see if they’ll tear up the indoor or outdoor carpet in the rec room and put down something that’s cheap. I need to get the carpet out of there because it smells horrible.

My ex-daughter-in-law had a good rapport with Empire. The rep was very nice. He showed me different things to look at. I chose the water-proof padding and I liked the carpet that I picked out. It wasn’t the one that was advertised, but that was all right. I had three dogs and two cats, so the one that was advertised would not have held up under them. I was sick when the installers came out here and they did the whole house while I stayed in the bedroom. I slept through a lot of it, then when they got right to the bedroom, they woke me up. I went to the living room and wrapped up in the recliner until they got done, and everything was great.

They were three young men who worked really hard, and we were very pleased with their methodology. They were no-nonsense and came in exactly when they were supposed to be here. They didn’t damage anything and they were very careful with our furniture.

We're also happy with the product. It's very pretty and it's not too bright. We were worried that it was gonna be real shiny and then the light would reflect from it, but it's not. It's a very soft, warm color and it matches our kitchen, our dining room and the hallway going into the bathrooms. We're very happy with Empire and if we ever need to have any more of our floors done, we will be certain to call them.

We were told the installation would be done in one day and they would stay as long as needed to finish by the salesman so that was why we went with Empire. It was much more expensive than others we have priced but they sold us with the one day install. When the people who install arrived, I mentioned they would be done today and they said no, they didn’t know how long it would take?!? I called the salesman immediately and left a message, no response.

This began in Thursday, Friday at 5 pm and taking another day off of work, they are still there and my son's first game of the season started in an hour and we had the food for the meal to bring. I asked when they would be done and they couldn’t give me an answer. I told them we had to leave by 6 pm and I was going with that time so I was not happy. I once again left a message for my salesperson and no response. At that point, I knew the sale was made and he didn’t care!

Needless to say, we were over 30 minutes late to my son's senior start of the season, the place did not get cleaned up, they did not finish the things we were told would be done but we told them we had to leave, which we did and we didn’t plan on them being there on Friday, let alone at 6 pm! I tried calling customer service after the fact to ask why the salesperson doesn’t respond and I got an apology with being told the sales manager would return my call... I’m still waiting for that call for a month now! Very poor experience with the salesperson, and overall sale! I will not recommend Empire due to the experience I’ve had.

However, there is a problem with the carpeting in the family room and the carpet in the kitchen area looks like it is shredding. I am unhappy with the way the carpeting is laying out. I had carpets installed by Empire Today in my two bedrooms. While I considered other brands, I like the fact that with Empire, floor installation can be done in one day, in and out, and I didn't have to move any furniture. I also compared their prices with 50 Floor and the prices there were higher. In addition to that, I was trying to match a carpet that I already had in my house, in the other bedroom, and their carpet was a better match for what I was trying to achieve.

The salesperson served in two capacities for the day that he came. A frog somehow got into my house and was at my den. He served as my exterminator as well. It was funny because I was very frightened by the experience but he saved the day by helping me get that out of the house. It was a determining factor for me going with him because if he had just ignored it, I would have ignored him as well. He was a good service person for the job that I needed. So far, everything's good. I had already referred Empire Today to somebody else.

We were forced to go with Empire through the insurance company on the condo we bought, otherwise we would have gone with anyone else. The actual flooring is okay, it’s the installation and customer service that is garbage. The wood laminate was supposed to go in on a Tuesday and the carpet on Thursday...it is now a week later and neither are done. The carpet is still rolled up in the garage! We were supposed to close on the condo today and now we can’t until Friday, because suddenly Empire is saying they won’t be done until Thursday...an entire week after they were supposed to be.

We can’t get any explanation and when we try to get in touch with customer service, we don’t hear back. It’s beyond frustrating and unprofessional. And it’s not like it’s a massive place with tons of flooring—it’s less than 1500 square feet, and it isn’t every single room that’s having the floors replaced. Didn’t want to use them in the first place because we knew the service sucked but we definitely will never use them again.

But I was dissatisfied since the reps set up appointments that got me all messed up. First of all, they called me and said that everything was all right and that the flooring I purchased was gonna be delivered and done. Then they called me at the last minute and said that they had changed our appointment because that date was already taken up. Then they called back and set up another appointment, but it was delayed for another week. That was very frustrating and disappointing because I had my rooms, with furniture and all, ripped up. But the installers got here on time and everything went well. The carpet looks good, although there's one little spot that I need to have them come and check out. I was there when they did the installation, when they left and inspected everything, and everything was fine except there was a little bump. According to my contract, my living room and dining room had the same amount of carpeting, but they didn’t list the dining room as a separate room. So, I had to clear that up with my insurance company and I'm presently waiting for them to reimburse me on the installation. But overall, I had a favorable relationship with Empire Today. The ordering issue has been resolved. The installers did a good job at removing my existing tile floor and replace it with the hardwood oak that I wanted. I raised the rating to a 4 stars now because the installers were very good and they came well prepared once the order is straighten out. I must say that my case has pointed out the weakness in Empire Today ordering process and I hope that they will correct it for future customer.

    Original Review: Sept. 27, 2018

I ordered NATURAL OAK hardwood floor installation for my kitchen. The next day I requested for Provident OAK - CANYON instead of OAK - NATURAL. The sale rep change the order couple days later... On the installation day, the installer informed me that there seem to be a mistake with the order. The order indicated CANYON for dining room and NATURAL for kitchen but I only requested for kitchen floor since dining room already has OAK hardwood floor installed. It turned out that the sale rep has named a section of the kitchen as dining room and the rest as kitchen. When the sale rep changed from NATURAL TO CANYON it only applied to dining room. The installer said they don't have enough NATURAL OAK with them to install so they left.

I called the sale rep and he blamed the warehouse fault so I have to call customer service myself to correct the order. They corrected the order then submitted to the installation service dept. (outsource to local contractor like Home Depot) but no one call me back. I took a day off for this service and I have no idea when they are going to re-schedule for the installation. I called customer service again and they said there is nothing they can do and suggested that I should wait for 24 hrs for someone to call me back. I thought Empire is a big company that has been in business for many years and they should be able to provide a single point of service but they are not. If you want to deal with Empire Today be prepared to act as general contractor. Everyone will pointing finger at each other and no one will extend their effort to help you to deal with their mistake.

Seen the commercials with the little man laying carpet or hard flooring. This company is nothing like that. Everything about the experience with Empire was awful. To start they couldn't lay the type of flooring me and my wife wanted and had waited for 4 weeks to be installed. So another salesman came and we chose a wood laminate. Anything and everything from them doing a good job happened to get this job done. From damaging my walls, baseboards and cutting the floor too short so that the corner round trim didn't hide the new floor edge. Then halfway thru the job they told us the corner round we chose was not an option and if I wanted something to match my baseboards I would have to go buy it and stain it. I had to fix my entire house that they were in contact with including the floor that I had spent thousands of dollars on.

If I would have known now what I went thru with Empire I would have gladly spent more money somewhere else to get a quality job. They don't respect your house and the damage they do to get your flooring in. And they DO NOT give a quality job. It has taken over 3 months for them to finally finish my job and I am not happy with it. Ryan ** and Justin ** are useless as managers and getting things done. They never call you back and send out the wrong product or no product to finish the job. And the installers are left out in the dark and dont even know what they are doing when they show up. Instead of removing the old flooring and replacing it with the new flooring, they just laid the carpet on top of the old floor. When asked why it seemed so high, their response was that it was probably due to foundation which was a total lie. The issue was because they DID NOT remove the old flooring.

Now trying to get Empire to come back out and fix the problem because the floor is now too high to transition smoothly to the wood floors has been a nightmare! Also, I hope that I don't have to clean it often to keep it looking pretty.

Empire Today had been recommended to me by a couple of people and I went with them because of the ease of getting the whole package put together. I also got a good price, and considering the fact that the installation was included in it and the discounts that I got, the price turned out very well. The installation job was really good too. The crew who came in was meticulous about keeping the place clean, not spreading dirt and cleaning up before, during and after the job. I had vinyl panel flooring installed in both bathrooms and in the kitchen, and it looks nice. It's also very practical and it is an improvement over the vinyl sheeting that the previous owner had down. The whole thing worked out nicely. If you go with Empire Today, you'll get great value and the job’s gonna look good when it’s finished.

I'll start by saying we are in the middle of this mess, so hopefully we will get a resolution. We called and asked a salesperson to come out and one did. He was okay but when we got to the end of the pitch and we told him we would need a few days to think about it he got really defensive and borderline mean. He told us "It's called Empire TODAY because people make the choice to go with us the same day I come out." During his visit he told us our closets wouldn't be a problem. "My guys know what they are doing and have no problem with closets", he acted as if I was stupid for asking that. He did tell us we would have to pay a bit more for our stairs but that if we purchased the stair kits, then it wouldn't be a problem. The product looked good and we did want to go with a large company with a good reputation, but the sales guys was horrible.

Later someone from Empire called us and we negotiated a price that works but we specifically asked for a different sales person. They sent the same awful sales guy back, which was super awkward, to close the deal. Today was the day they were supposed to start. We have all of our furniture squished into a tiny portion of our house. We both took the day off. We had to cancel with some guests, etc etc. They show up and they can't do the closets, they can't do their stairs, they don't have the right product in stock AND the sales guy didn't measure our space correctly. He was 100 sq ft short! After time on the phone with customer service, the installation guy left and we were told a manager would call us back within the hour. It's been well over an hour and we haven't heard from them. We scheduled everything around this and now we have no idea what's going on. I'm not sure what to do now.

I had new carpeting in the living room and linoleum done in the master bedroom by Empire Today. Their rep had stopped here and we discussed the product. She was really friendly and talkative. She made me feel like it was a real good thing. The end product is real nice and I like it. It was better than what we had because the other one was a darker green and now I got a lighter beige in the living room. The linoleum also looks a lot better because we had a stained carpeting in there. I was glad to get rid of that. Empire did a very good job so give them a ring.

Empire Today did very good work in installing the carpet and padding for us and their salesman was very good. We set the installation up on a Tuesday and he sent the truck as promised. The gentleman rode in with another one and apparently, the job manager sat in the car while the helper came inside. The helper was understandable but he had no authority. It was raining and he had no place to roll and cut the carpet so they set it up for Wednesday. Wednesday came and a different gentleman came who was more aggressive and capable. Again, the grass was wet and he had no place to cut the carpet but he took the dimensions of the room, took the carpet back to a warehouse and cut it to size. Then, he showed up on a Thursday and installed it. He was very nice and professional.

They were not able to haul away the old carpet though and that bothered me. In the past, we've had bedbugs. I tried to explain to the gentleman that the professionals have been in and sprayed for those. Also, it had been quite some time. Nevertheless, I could understand his apprehension. So, he left it out in the driveway and we had to pay $75 to have it hauled away. I wasn't too happy but other than that, they did a nice job. It worked out very well and overall, it was a positive experience. We had the carpet and padding installed in the living room, a dining area and a small hall. We like the carpet's color and texture. We wanted the most expensive padding but a moderately-priced carpet. I have recommended Empire Today to my friends but it's always been with a caveat. We feel we lucked out with a good salesman and installer.

I would first off like to start by saying I had used Empire a number of years ago and had no problems and love them. However this time around I got three rooms done and had nothing but problems. I understand problems with the installation can occur with the customer service Dealt to handle it was absolutely awful. First off their representative had blown us off and then when he had come the second day we decided to give a second chance because things come up.

We are very understanding people and we had such good luck with them the first time so the representative came, quoted us for the Floors and the quote was pretty average. I would not say we were getting a good deal but we’re paying for what we were getting installed. We did not expect it to be a cheap thing. However he did have a deal going on that week. Do one room. Get the materials for the second room for $50. I had inquired about that and the representative had blown the idea of it off completely and said, "You’re getting a good enough deal already."

I had called the customer service line the next day and asked for a better explanation on the sale going on. Sure enough we were being shorthanded with the response from our Representative. The floor installers had come a week afterwards upon the installation. Our bathroom sink was broken. After they had left I had checked the floors out and there were at least 20 to 30 spots where you would step down your foot would completely sink in or it was completely in level or the vinyl plank was separated. We had them come out to fix it. The floor installers had come a week afterwards upon the installation. Upon fixing it they did a great job however completely half-assed the molding the second time around.

If there’s a way to attach pictures I would love to do that for you all to see. It was completely awful molding. Not even attached. The ends lining up to the molding over 1 inch gaps. No molding caps. Absolutely horrid. I don’t nothing about floors and can assure you I would’ve done a better job beside having a bad experience with the installers. I’ve been trying to get in touch with customer service to talk to somebody who would be able to help. For over a month now I get run around. Everything will time whether it’s somebody will call you back in 24 hours and I never hear anything or an email back and forth. I have probably spent at least 12 hours this last month on the phone trying to get in contact with them.

I am completely fed up and would like to do anything I can to just be completely done with this horrible company. The repairs needed to be done. I understand nobody is perfect but the customer service I’ve spoken to at least a dozen and a half different representatives over the phone and nobody has been able to help me, transfer me to the right person or have any sympathy for anything. I’m sure if your floors were that messed up, sink broken and nobody was willing to do anything to fix that you’d be quite upset too. I don’t understand how people can have such poor customer service qualities.

So we contacted Empire Today and we had them install rugs in the living room, hallway, and the back bedroom. Also, the crew they sent out to us were very nice guys and did a wonderful job, but none of them could speak English.

When Empire called to check how the work went, I told them that it was very hard to communicate to the crew what we wanted and the gentleman I talked with was surprised. He said that it shouldn't happen because they understood that they couldn't send in all crew to an English-speaking family and expect everything to go well. I then explained that we just wanted certain things done in a certain way, but everything went well in the end. The person in charge of the group tried very hard to understand what we wanted to be done and it got accomplished.

Also, a woman was calling me at 6 in the morning and the guys came at 6:30 in the morning. It was not discussed 'cause I would have told them no. I’m not a morning person so I was not up but they came anyway and sat in the driveway which I did not like. A guy got with me and asked me if I wanted to reschedule. I scheduled a meeting with a sales rep for estimate on flooring for my home and rental property. The sales rep insulted my home with rude comments of the interior of our new home. The estimate took so long because she went on and on about her other jobs. Finally we made our decision. Carpets to be installed Tuesday and vinyl on Friday. Tuesday comes. Carpet is installed. Great. Friday comes. Someone calls my husband and says they can't make it. I call. Spoke to 3 reps and floor manager who confirm they will be here. What happens? They never showed up. I called back and this rude rep is telling me I never confirmed. Asked for a manager again. She apologized and tells they were out of the flooring selected. Wow. Would have been nice if the other 4 people told me that. But no. I miss a day of work waiting for nothing.

They rescheduled someone to come back out between 3-5. Another day they call me at 445 to say they won't make it because the person called out sick. Would've been nice to know that morning instead of missing work again. We reschedule again and what happens? A no show again. And we are told the reps no longer work there and they will send someone from Connecticut between 3-5.

Well today is the day and you know what? I cancelled a business trip to stay in this house and wait and they don't show up again. Call customer service and all they do is say, "Call back Monday." They can't do anything. They don't have any information. The communication absolutely sucks. Talking to managers gets you nowhere. They are always sorry for the inconveniences and yet nothing has changed. We had to move appliances out the house for a no show. We had to delay our tenants from moving in due to this. Between missing work and no tenant this place is just losing my family money. This has been going on for 2 months. Never had such a bad experience on my lifetime.

They were to arrive from 9-11 am today, so I stayed home waiting for them to arrive. No one showed up so I called to see if anyone was coming. The girl said she did not see my address on their schedule. She said she had an opening this evening from 3-5 pm or 7-9 pm. I took the 7-9 pm. We canceled our evening plans to meet with their representative. We have been waiting all evening and again, no one showed. I called their scheduling department and the girl tells me there was a scheduling conflict and no one is going to come. I asked her why no one called us! They are so inconsiderate and unreliable! We considered some of the other big companies that were all just analogs to Empire then we looked at some of the options that were like in the big-box type stores. We didn't really find a whole lot of difference price wise especially when we added things associated with labor. We also very briefly explored the possibility of the do-it-yourself model. Then we learned that Empire was almost everything, that there were other brands that they work under. We had them come out and install the laminate floor in the living room, kitchen, dining room, and hallway.

The person who we spoke with that sold it to us was very personable, and went a little bit out of his way to help us. We had to get the wall removed before we put the flooring in. He had to check to see if he had somebody in his network that could help us do that. We didn't wind up going on that path but he was very nice to work with. Then the people who came and installed the flooring informed us that the salesperson measured it wrong. They didn't have enough materials so they had to come back. They didn't do everything that the salesperson said that they were supposed to do so I didn't know whose responsibility that is or where that lies, but that was the only sour point. They also didn't make it so that the floors are level throughout so we have rises and falls and I really dislike that, but it is what it is. The flooring itself is good. I wouldn't go with Empire if a floor is needed to be taken out, but I would recommend them if people just needed the flooring put in.

I’ve had some bad experience with other flooring companies such as not honoring the warranty and the quality of the product was no good. I wanted to give another company a chance so I had Empire Today install an LVP type of flooring in three of the four rooms. The installers were very professional and very precise. Greg, the sales rep was very good, the first time. I got a second quote to finish the apartment and then do my living room. He came in with a price and I came in with two other offers. He matched it and made it better but he never showed up, never called. I called Empire three or four times and found out that he was sick. He sent me an apology which is fine and acceptable. Another guy from Empire came in and did the measurements, and said he can't have the flooring installed with the price that I was given.

Greg sent a text about matching the price and putting the flooring in and said to show it to the other guy. I did but he refused to do it and said, “No. I can’t do that and I won’t do that. He’s not my boss.” Greg was pissed off so he would be here within the next half hour to get it done. I just couldn’t understand why one rep would do this or the other rep would do that considering they're from same company and Greg is basically his boss. He handles the whole east coast and all the commercial because we got commercial-grade put in and that’s what we’re gonna have here. Nevertheless, Empire is gonna honor the match and Greg was very professional. I’d recommend Empire Today. Right now, it’s in early stages and I'm anxious to see how the product holds up.

The first quote they gave us was $4,700 then we started getting the, "If I call my Manager and get this down to 3,500 would you buy today?"

After 3 hours of playing games and 4 calls to his Manager their best price was $2,700. After telling the “Salesman” we were not purchasing I had to tell him we were finished, please leave my house. The next day I received 3 calls from the Manager telling me the Lowe's quote would not be accurate and it would take 6 weeks for them to install vs. a few days from ET. The 2nd day I got 6 calls from the Manager until I finally blocked the number. If you call ET just be ready to buy that day and if not, be ready for some high pressured sales garbage.

They rolled out my brand new carpet in my dirt driveway (where my dog uses the bathroom) in order to cut it. Upon moving my furniture they damaged my kitchen floor in two places. When I told one of the men he just looked at me and walked away. They didn’t have the correct tools with them to take off my closet and bedroom doors. I had to call a different contractor to come and take them off. Also had to have him come back after they left to reattach the electric heaters back on the walls.

I did call several times to try and speak to a manager but no one ever called me back. Now it’s over two weeks since the installation and I still have yet to talk to a manager about the damage done to my kitchen floor. I feel like because I paid in full at the time of installation, Empire no longer cares about the situation. Not a good way to do business. That being said we did get a great deal on our carpet. We thought about the animal hair and the coming in and out and I didn’t want to show dirt badly. I got the light brown color and had the carpets installed in the bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, hallway and the steps going upstairs.

However, the installers put a piece of wood with a little nail sticking up. I can feel it when I’m walking in the living room and the kitchen. Empire Today had an ad on TV where you pay the regular price for one room and get other rooms for $50. But after I had the rep come here to talk to me, he said it was $50 to come out and I gotta pay for everything else. It came about a hundred and something dollars a room. He was upfront with it and he did whatever he said. I had them install a laminate floor on my hallway and kitchen, and a carpet in my master bedroom.

The guy that did the laminate didn’t know enough about the laminate, putting the floor down. He said he needed some more supplies and that he would see me on Monday. That was all right with me, but when he didn’t call or show up, I had to talk to the people at Empire Today for them to get in contact with him to send him back out here. On Friday, the guy got in contact with me and told us that Empire didn’t have the supplies for him. I said that he should've called me. He seemed to be a hard worker and he knew what he’s doing but he needs a little more experience especially in talking to the customer and in laying down the laminate. Nonetheless, the carpet was done great and the guy that did it was great too.
