A few years ago, a friend used Empire Today. I always remembered it until I needed something like that and I called them. I had them install a wood-looking flooring in the dining room and they did fine. However, I had some flooring that was coming in from the front door through the living room, but not in the main part of the living room. I tried to match it and this is darker. The rep and I could not find anything else closer. I just wish that it looked like a continuation. Still, the flooring is fine and it shows a few spots in it. It shows under the table a lot although it’s not a big thing. So far, the Empire Today flooring has worked fine for me. A lot of people like this flooring and they don’t seem to be bothered by it being a darker wood.

I have radiant heat, where the heat comes from the floor. You have to be careful how you’re putting the carpet down. You can’t puncture anything on the floor and you have to use a very thin padding. I went to Home Depot but that didn't work out. They didn’t have their own workers. The men who came here said they never heard of this type of heat. So that scared me a little and I canceled the deal.

Empire Today was recommended by a friend. I went to Empire and I'm glad I did. They have their own workers, which was better. They installed a carpet and a rug in one room and in the hallway. These people were experienced in doing that. They were nice and they even cleaned up. They knew what they were doing and I felt more at ease with it because I was afraid something could have happened to my heating system.

The flooring is great. The only drawback was that they told me I had to have a door shaved because the carpet is higher and it doesn't fit. The only thing was the carpet was thinner. But that was in the papers and was no surprise. They gave me a leaflet and told me that. Nevertheless, I would certainly recommend Empire Today.

We've used Empire Today a number of times and we’ve been very satisfied with them. The flooring at our foyer, which ran practically the length of the house, had to be replaced as a result of a flood which caused problems. We requested Empire the veneer flooring we had before however, they didn’t have it anymore. It was out of style after eight years. So, we had one that was similar to it and it was installed very quickly, from 7:30 in the morning till 2 o’clock. Two technicians came in with all their tools and the work was very well done. We would use Empire Today again if we have to.

After cancelling a purchase, I received a call from Empire on my drive into work. The rep was extremely aggressive and rude. When I told him that his tactics were causing me anxiety, he repeatedly yelled over my protests, "What am I doing to you?!" He behaved more like a liberal protestor than a company representative. While I liked the saleswoman that I had in my home, I will never, ever purchase anything from Empire. And if you prefer to be treated with respect, I don't suggest you do either.

I would like to explain my experience with Empire. From the sales point of view everything began well with fitting date arranged for 4 rooms. On the day of fitting I received a call to say that one part of the carpet was not available, so therefore I could proceed with the 2 other rooms or leave until other carpet is available. As I had already cleared the rooms, I preferred to have the carpets fitted that day. The fitting went well that day, no concerns. When trying to find out details of when the other part of my order would be fitted I was advised of a 2 week window. This was not what I wanted as I had planned the rooms all to be done before my daughters returned from college.

I called my sales rep Kevin **, and after explaining my dissatisfaction he returned to my home with other examples for me to choose from. Second part of carpet was scheduled for the Saturday 16th November. I had asked from the sales rep numerous times for a revised bill, and as yet still not received an itemized bill, to provide details of carpet and revised price. Additionally on the day I moved everything out of the room except certain pieces of larger furniture, which was included in my order. When the fitter arrived they said that they had been very busy, and when viewing rooms to be done said that they could not collapse beds. I said that this was not explained to me at time of sale and as my husband being away, sales rep assured that there was no problem. Fitters continued reluctance to dismantle beds x2, eventually finding the correct tool, they completed this task.

When it came to putting the beds together he explained that he would not be fitting them back together. I explained that as he had dismantled them he would know better how to put them together. He did so after I explained that I had paid for this service. He then informed me that he would not be tightening the screws! I could not believe what I was hearing, so I thanked him and said his farewell. A couple of minutes later a knock on the door and the fitter returned to tighten the screws! In conclusions – delayed carpet fitting, disgruntled fitters, numerous call to sales rep for request to see other samples and revised bill - still not received. All in all Sales rep promised top rate Customer Service – this failed as well as carpet fitter’s attitude on the day.

I used Empire Today about 20 years ago and they did a good job on the carpeting. That thing was very expensive though even back then and it is still expensive now. This time, the representative that came out was very informative. He explained and brought samples. The installation was good and the color is great and I liked how durable the flooring is. I’m very satisfied and I’d recommend Empire.

I saw the commercial on TV and I liked the price of Empire Today. I had a rug installed in one bedroom but I asked the guy who came out here for a Berber carpet and I got something else entirely. When I tried to get in touch with him, I never could and I always had to call the company which I didn’t like. I wanted a chocolate Berber carpeting but they gave me what they had which went very well with the room. I’m in a beige room and what they bought me was brown and I wanted a deeper color but I’m very satisfied with what I had. I’ve had quite a few people come and ask about it and I told them that I got it at Empire and they have good deals on it.

I was interested in Empire Today by a TV commercial and they called me. They came out and were very good. They also gave me a good price. So we decided to go with them. I purchased a carpet and they set up the install date. But they called me on the day of the installation to tell me they no longer had that carpet in stock. And they knew that when I had ordered it a week or so before that. So they had to come back out, bring more samples and then re-set another date. But that was the only problem I had with them. Otherwise, they definitely met my expectations. A team came out and did the installation in four bedrooms and a former living room. I like the way the product looks and I have recommended them.

We called Empire and we had a good salesman come out. He told us about their products that are pet-proof and urine-proof because we got pets, and we decided to go with them. My wife liked the luxury vinyl planks which are waterproof and made by Shaw, so that's what we bought. We had them installed in the living room, kitchen, dining room, and laundry room of our home. The install was really good and it took four days, off and on, to complete. I wish the prices would have been a little better, but our new flooring has met our expectations and we like it.

Upon their instructions we had moved everything out of rooms where carpet was to be installed even wall hangings. I requested off work to be there as they require. I was very much looking forward to my new carpet and this was extremely disappointing. I called the customer service office, and they said they may be able to reschedule for next week sometime! I asked them why I would trust them to show up next week. Very poor business management is obviously the issue with this company. I would never recommend to anyone.

To say I wish it was possible to leave negative stars is an understatement. I've never been treated more poorly than I have been for the last six months by Empire Today (Kent, WA). I signed a contract on April 30th to have 350 sqft. of flooring installed. In the beginning of the process Empire was notified that this was a rental property & the importance of getting it done in a timely manner.

Due to Sales Representative Douglas **, Customer Service Manager Ashley **, General Managers James ** & Michael ** negligence my flooring wasn't completely installed until October 8th. I was ignored throughout this whole ordeal by these representatives & Empire in general. These four individuals took zero responsibility & tried to pin the blame on me for a 2-3 day job taking 5 months to be fully completed. They weren't taking initiative in properly scheduling installation dates, and when they did schedule dates the contractors weren't showing up. Empire failed to notify me of these occurrences & didn't reschedule contractors. It took weeks for me to get a hold of Ashley ** through emails, texts & phone calls after every incident.

Given that General Manager Michael ** & Ashley ** weren't willing to take full responsibility for a 2-3 day job turning into 5 months, I then decided to reach out to headquarters. I provided Bill **, Senior Customer Service Manager, with a detailed 5 page letter as well as Resolution Letter, explaining the rental loss of over $9,000 due to their negligence. I expressed that I was willing to settle this matter outside of court if Empire was willing to waive the cost of the flooring, $5777.74 and keep the warranty intact.

During my contact with Bill **, It appeared as though he wasn't fully reading the detailed documents regarding my horrible experience the previous 5 months with Empire. Instead, like the rest of Empire's Representatives/Management he put the blame on me. He then made a lowball offer that I declined & then told me upon checking with his Regional Director that they weren't willing to go higher or meet my requests. Though I will continue with this matter in court, this message is to advise others to stay away from Empire, so as to not be in this predicament because Empire will not give two ** about you or take responsibility for their employees' actions.

I was satisfied when I had carpeting put in by Empire Today before. This time, I needed something that was washable and that looked nice. But after the laminate was put in, I had a really big problem with it in the beginning. Nobody told me that it was gonna be very slippery and most of the furniture wouldn’t stay where they were supposed to. I had a queen-sized bed in there and it was sliding all over the place. I called Empire Today but I guess they haven’t had that complaint before. I had a very hard time finding a solution to the problem. I had to make several calls to several different places. Finally, I talked with a place that sells beds and we figured something out. It's fine now. And all in all, everything went great with Empire Today.

Horrible customer service. Scheduled a rug installation on Friday Nov. 9, 2018 for installation on Thursday Nov. 15, 2018. They do not give a time that installation takes place, but state that they will call the morning of to give an estimated time. On Thursday Nov 15, 2018 at 0906 I was left a message that they were unable to make the appointment that day and to please call and reschedule. They left a call back number which my husband and I attempted to call multiple times that day and the next, then I get an e-mail saying that they rescheduled our installation for Tuesday Nov. 20, 2018. When we attempted to call to find out 1) who authorized that appointment and 2) to reschedule seeing as both my husband and I work on Tuesdays and one of us want to be present to verify the product, we did not get a callback. Finally, on Saturday Nov. 17, 2018, we got a hold of them and rescheduled for Saturday Nov. 24, 2018.

Once again, we moved all the furniture out of the rooms and waited. By 1000 no call from them. When I called customer service, the lady I talked to told me that they rescheduled for Tuesday Nov. 27, 2018. When I asked who authorized this change without talking to us, the clients, she said it was the managers. She also said that they attempted to call to verify the appointment on multiple occasions; they did not. When I told her as much, she basically made me out to be lying.

I said I wanted one of two things, either a discount for their lack of ability to keep appointments and them move all the furniture out of the rooms free of charge when they do come to install the rugs or all of my money that I've paid them back. Her response was that she could request a discount but they would charge me for any furniture moving on their end. I told her that we have moved the furniture out of the rooms not once but twice now and that we will NOT be moving it out and back in again a third time. I requested to talk with the manager.

The manager saw that now two appointments were rescheduled on their end and it was documented that they attempted to call me to verify this appointment. They read my number off to me correctly, but my call log shows no calls came from them in well over a week. Now we are rescheduled for Friday Nov. 30, 2018 and I demanded morning and that they move all furniture at no cost to us. Now we'll see if they actually come this time. They pride themselves with next day installation, well it's more like a month. Being that I am 8 months pregnant, moving all the furniture out of the rooms and back in is no treat. I would NOT recommend Empire Today, LLC to anyone. They need to relook at their business plan and educate their employees on a proper business model. In my field of business, if I or any of my employees, handled business like this company does, we'd be out of a job and out of business.

When I called up there though, they said it was and that they’d be down here on the following Wednesday.

But somebody called me back and said they had to order the part so they would give me a call when it has come in. That’s been over two weeks ago and I haven't heard nothing. And I wanted it done before Christmas. My experience wasn’t good. I just wish they would come on and finish the job. I chose laminate wood floors for my den because my son has it in his house and it really looked pretty. They finished in a professional manner and cleaned up after themselves.

The first installment was a little bit over a year ago, 2017, and everything is still up to par. The carpet is still in good shape. This is like a tenant apartment, and then, the second one, which is quite new, I'm expecting to last. It would have been nice to get things a little bit cheaper. From the last carpet installment and the second one, it was almost about the same price for a lesser job. So, I was not too happy with the price the second time around. This was a commercial daycare job... What a nightmare! Sales Rep was an Idiot. The installation crew were Inept. The Install crew owner left his 16 year old son in charge instead of his 30 year flooring veteran while he ran back to Atlanta for the weekend. Never saw him onsite supervising. He had a crew of Hispanics that brought 3 of their young children to work with them. They were running all over the facility pulling out toys in every room. It was CHAOS!!! Reinstalling toilets was a fiasco. His son was uninstalling a toilet and did not shut off the water supply. Water ruined a whole room and 40 feet of a hallway of freshly laid VCT. No one knew how to shut off the water supply to the bldg as the Owner of the crew left and did not tell anyone where the shut off was. Luckily I was still on site, otherwise the whole bldg would have been flooded.

They didn't want to spend 150 a toilet to reinstall the toilets (9) with new spuds and seals. The son took out the toilets and mixed up what rooms they came out of so the plumbing didn't match when they tried reinstalling. They ended up paying ROTO-Rooter 675 to fix one toilet at 11:30 pm and then had to pay the original plumber, who was going to charge 150 a toilet, approx 300 for each toilet. This is a daycare so they needed All toilets operational by Monday at 6 am. We are Now having issues with the install where the floor flooded and a few other areas, but they are not answering our emails or calls. When we first called Empire it seemed like the salesman wanted to do good by us, told us the best thing for our place would be laminate floors because we have a pet. Within 6 months most of the seams across an entire installation area (dining room, living room, hallway) have striations (the seams are peaking). I have called Empire for over a month, they assigned a caseworker and every time he called I was in the middle of work. I would return his call within an hour and I would receive no response back for DAYS. I finally got somebody out after calling corporate multiple times, and the inspector told me he could tell it was not water damage from me, he could tell it was not pet urine. 2 weeks later I finally get a callback and I am told they have to replace the floors but AT MY COST. They claim it is not an installation problem, but it is locally caused damage.

I can tell you that I make sure we have an area carpet with a carpet pad (striations are happening under there as well), there are striations in parts of the floors we do not step on, we make sure not to leave any liquid on the floors, we make sure to read the product care and do not use liquid products on our floors, we just dry Swiffer them. I can not believe that we have a "30 year warranty" but Empire does not want to honor that because they claim we caused the damage. I am still paying for these floors and 6 months in it looks like we have had them for years. I am so disappointed that Empire will not stand by their warranty. And if they knew the floors would not be good in our area (over cement) they should have never suggested those floors. In addition, when they came to do the install, they brought the wrong flooring (the salesman did not submit the change form in time) but we decided to go ahead with it, but it was a different brand.

We purchased $10,000 of engineered flooring anticipating a professional job as promised by salesman. The flooring is beautiful but the workmanship not professional. Nail holes in transition strips were not filed. Several cuts of flooring were splintered and needed stained. Workers were continually asked to keep entry door closed because of the cold. They left job messy. Had to pay upfront and now I know why. I would not recommend this Central Ohio crew of workers. They didn’t have enough transition strips and left job indicating one would come back. I signed that they were done before I should have, my bad.

We received a confirmation email yesterday that the installer would call in the morning to give a time window. We had not heard anything by 10am. We called our salesperson, who was absolutely no help. We called the main number and were informed there was NO INSTALLATION CREW!!! Now our living room is completely empty with carpet removed, which was part of our deal, and they have not returned calls or given us an answer as to when installation will be. Mind you it is Thanksgiving in 2 days. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Now we are just hopeful we can contact someone to cancel our order and start over with a better company.

I had the carpet installed on the stairs from my living room to my basement and the guy who did it was very good. He came out on time and he did everything he was supposed to do. It took him at least five hours to finish it and I was satisfied. I would also recommend him. I like the carpet's texture and gray color. It has met my expectations perfectly well, too.

I set an appointment to get my stairs and one bedroom done, with an appointment time set between 9-11 AM. I had to take 2 1/2 hours off of work to make sure I was there to get my estimate and place my order. 3 minutes before 11 the 1-800 number called me to tell me that the sales rep had "car issues but the rep was able to resolve it" and that he will be there before 1. So they basically told me I had to request another 3 hours off of work. The reason I was called right before the 11 AM deadline, was to blame me for "cancelling" the estimate. I did no such thing.

The customer service rep offered $50 off, as it was the best he/she could do. I asked for a manager, was placed on hold and somehow the phone got disconnected. I waited until 1 PM and no one showed up!!! I spent a lot of money getting my other staircase and 2 other bedrooms done by Empire earlier this year, thinking the process would be just as seamless. I was clearly wrong. I am so irritated because I already began moving my bedroom furniture to accommodate the sales rep and installer, which would have been requested for the next day. This is beyond disappointing at this point. Empire doesn't care about one customer, which is why this constantly happens.

I had a great sales representative come to my house. She sold me on customer satisfaction. She said in all of her years of working for Empire she'd never had a dissatisfied customer and if they were the owner would do everything with in his power to fix it. We set up my carpet install for 4 days later. I received a call the next day from someone saying there was a mix up and that date was not available. We chose another day. They came to install and I was pleased with the carpet but noticed several areas of base board damage. I called the customer service line and they told me someone would call me back the next business day.

A few days later I still had not received a phone call so I called again and left a message on the voicemail of the person they said was handling my claim. After 24 hours I still had not received a phone call so I called back and I got the person on the phone. She told me that she would like me to email her the pictures of my damaged baseboards but she said in the contract it states there may be baseboard damage so she doubts there is anything she can do.

A few days passed and I had not heard from her so I called and left a message on her voicemail asking her to call me. 10min later I received an email from her saying, "Unfortunately as stated in the contract baseboard damage is possible." I then reached out to the sales representative that had come out to my home. She asked me to text her pictures of the damage and said she would get back to me. I have not heard back from her. I just want to warn future customers because I don't understand how a company can come into your home damage your property and not fix it.

I live alone and I have lots of services I have to hire out. But I’m constantly being overcharged and I don’t like being misled. Empire Today has a good product but it’s much more expensive than people are led to believe. Three years ago, I had hardwood oak installed in the living room, the dining room and the hallway. It ended up costing about $6,000 but I went ahead and paid. Then recently, I needed carpet in two rooms. The kitchen also had linoleum that was about seven years old and it had a couple of cuts in it. So I was having laminate put on there. Empire Today's ad said, “Buy one room and get any other rooms for $50.” But you pay for labor, materials and padding. I was a little bothered when I saw that. If the $50 is not for labor, materials and padding, then what is it for? It was not a bargain. The commercial was misleading and I should have been more attentive.

I've worked with Empire Today twice now and it's been awfully expensive. I've spent $10,000 on a thousand-square-foot house in the last three years. Plus when I talked to the salesperson about the overcharge, he got defensive. He didn’t really want to discuss it and I understand that but it’s not right to mislead people. I would like the company to know that people know that that’s not right and that ultimately, that’s not gonna help them. I like Empire Today's product but I hope not to need any more floorings.

I asked numerous times, told the same thing each time. That was the one and only requirement, until I called to use my warranty since the carpet is not holding up as the salesman said it would. It's the worse carpet I've ever bought. Not satisfied with it when it was installed. Looked like a cheap grain of carpet. The man checking our carpet for the warranty began listing off requirements for the warranty I was not aware of. But the time the man left, we already knew what we told was not happening. Was guaranteed the job could be done only to be told that the installers cannot complete the job with the type of flooring material we chose so we decided to go with something else so we can get flooring installed after all of the flooring was already torn out of my entire house with only Thanksgiving a week away. Monday comes along and still nothing is being done.

Now they want us to wait until they get the flooring in stock. This is absolutely insane and inconvenient for my family. So I guess no family Thanksgiving at my house this year. We were having family over and big dinner plans for the holiday. Thanks to Empire everything is canceled and my children will not have a Thanksgiving dinner. We have no table because all of our furniture is pushed into one part of our house. What's worse is that my children have to constantly be in tennis shoes or confined to one room in the house because the floors are concrete. This is so terrible of Empire. Contacted corporate and I was told someone would be in touch with me within 24 hrs but that was a complete lie.

They are not helpful in any way whatsoever and they have not made me feel comfortable throughout this whole process at all and have not reassured me through anything and not even offered compensation for all the time wasted and inconveniences on their end. They know our situation and still we are on standby. So please look elsewhere. Empire is not the place!!!

I took time off from work, had my stove unhooked, set up the cats so they were not in the way, moved furniture around, etc. So they were supposed to call me between 8:30 and 10:30 to let me know when they would be here. Meanwhile received texts and e-mails verifying the date. When I called I spoke to the person who manages the installations. He said he had called me to change the date. #1, I did not receive any phone call and #2, if I had known this yesterday, I wouldn't have spent all day getting ready for them to come.

So the installation manager says he has no one in the area today or tomorrow to do the work. Again I took time off from work to be here for this flooring. I am so disappointed in this company. The salesman didn't even call me back. All they said was I am sorry. That doesn't help that I am losing money by not working and now have to move everything back to where it was. I told them to cancel and refund my money, and of course I still haven't heard from them. Bad business. I know a lot of people have had good luck, but not me.

Empire Today Flooring Review. NEVER hire this company. From my experience, they are not competent, not responsive, not responsible (don’t want to admit their own mistakes) and do not refund money when items are returned. They have so far been unwilling to settle what even they admit is a legitimate claim for compensation for completely butchering a floor installation.

July 2017 - Empire recommended and sold me poor quality and inappropriate flooring: Manufacturer: LW Mountain. Style Name/Number: Vallette. Color Name/Number: Acacia Samba Brown. Size Involved in Claim: 1841. Type of Surface: Vinyl Plank Click-Lock. Empire recommended this flooring for both the upstairs and downstairs as well as the stairs. But when their installers looked at it, the installers showed me that it was inappropriate flooring for stairs. Empire had to order a second type of flooring and trim for the stairs.

Empire charged me additional $5K and did not refund any for the extra vinyl flooring I paid for. The installers refused to remove the original wood flooring on the lower floor. Instead, they installed the vinyl directly over the original flooring. I was charged for the removal and never got a refund. I reported this to the sales rep and she did nothing but note it on the paperwork. In addition, Empire had ordered and charged me for cement to level out the lower floor when the old flooring had been removed. I had the installers return it to Empire. This charge was not refunded.

The installation was very messy and the installers left glue around baseboards and did not clean up. I called Empire repeatedly to get the floors cleaned and they did not respond to my request to do so. The installation took much longer to complete than originally estimated because of the bad recommendation to use the vinyl on the stairs. The installers broke plumbing in the bathroom that I had to pay for and I had to hire someone to set up the TV a second time.

January 2018. Within 5 months of installation, floor humped up 1+ inches in one spot (the kitchen as you enter from the dining area and hall) and up to ½” in other places. After the flooring humped up, I did an online review of complaints about this flooring. Many reviews indicated that humping was a known problem with this flooring. I called customer service and was told they would get back to me. They didn’t. I called several times to follow up as floor was getting worse. It was also humping up in several locations upstairs.

March – The floor is getting worse – the humped floor in the kitchen is 1 – 1.5” higher than the rest of the floor. This has created a trip hazard. On March 11, Empire sent two installers out to “repair” the floor. The installers took one look and said that the floor had been improperly installed and would have to be entirely replaced both downstairs and upstairs. They called back to Empire while they were here and reported this to Empire. Thus, in addition to being poor quality flooring, the vinyl flooring was installed badly. I got no follow up from Empire and had to keep calling them. Finally in May, Empire told me they would send two new installers out and I had to move out to have them repair the floor.

May 11, 2018. I was told a supervisor, Mario would be out 5/24 to replace the floor. I was told that I would have to move everything out of the downstairs rooms. I reminded the Empire installation supervisor, Joe, that I was a 70 year old woman with a bad back and could not move the large furniture. He said the installers would take care of that. From 5/11 – 5/22, I packed all dishes, art, and collectibles that were in the living room, dining room, and family/kitchen room. I removed all items from the pantry. I removed all small furniture, packed items and carpets and stored them in the garage. This took well over 60 hours of my time.

May 24, 2018. Two new installers arrived (not Mario, the supervisor as I had been promised). They took one look at the problem and said, “We can’t fix this. The entire floor needs to be replaced.” They called Joe and left. Since then, Empire has continued to jerk me around and not resolve the problem. They have admitted that the flooring was not good quality and had known problems and that it was not installed correctly. They have finally admitted that it will all have to be replaced.

I have had to hire a lawyer to help me get them to respond. I had to hire a professional floor inspector to do a report on it. Empire hired their own inspector. Both inspectors said the vinyl flooring was not good quality and it was installed very badly. I'm appalled that a company of their size would be so difficult and insensitive. For example, twice, the local installation manager has sent a crew (2 installers) out to "fix" the floor. Both times the installers looked at the problems with the floor and said, "That can't be fixed, it has to all be replaced".

I have been greatly inconvenienced and stressed because of Empire’s poor quality flooring, incompetent installation, and poor response from Customer Service. I have been contacting Empire and trying to resolve the problems with the flooring since February 2018. I have been unable to use a large portion of the house – particularly the living room, dining room and kitchen. The hazardous bump has prevented me from inviting family and friends over due to the liability of possibly tripping on the floor.

The stress and inconvenience will not be over with a payment from Empire. I will still have to hire people to remove and replace the faulty, poor quality flooring that Empire left me with. I will have to pack and move out so that a proper installation can be done. As of November 19, 2018, I have received no compensation from Empire.

I received a phone call at 7 am on the day of installation from Empire stating that not enough flooring was in the warehouse for the installation and that the installation would have to be rescheduled. I had already taken off one of my precious few annual leave days for the installation.

When I asked about partial installation, I was told they could proceed, but they would not give me a date for the rest to be installed. I told them I wanted to cancel the order and was told it was past the 3 day cancellation period. I informed the representative that EMPIRE was the one in breach of contract since not only was the installation not performed due to the lack of materials but also the company could not provide an estimated date in the future (which could be 1 day or never) for the installation. I requested the refund forthwith. This occurred about 2 months ago and still no refund has been posted to my credit card. The carpeting installed in the living room is holding up great. And the cost was good. It's been great with Empire Today and I went with them because they called me back first. They were polite and I was impressed with their professionalism. They made me feel at home and not pushed me into something else that I didn't want. The installation team was nice too. I would recommend Empire to anybody.

We had our bathroom floor installed on 11/7/2018. We were to have vinyl tile installed and grouted along with baseboard due to our existing flooring going up the walls. The installers laid a subfloor down but only on part of the floor. They installed the flooring and did the grout work. They informed us that they did not have the baseboard with them and would have to come back to install. Once they left and the grout dried we noticed that all the grout work had cracked. We contacted customer service to make them aware of the issue and they filed a claim. A supervisor contacted us and asked that we please send pictures of the issue and she would review them and get back to us on Tuesday.

Tuesday came and went and we got no callback. On Wednesday we placed a call to customer service yet again and they informed us that the home office was unavailable. They left a message and filed another claim for us and yet we still have not heard back. It is completely frustrating that no one seems to care that we are dissatisfied and have a bathroom floor that is unfinished. Here we are less than a week before Thanksgiving and we have family coming in town. Completely unacceptable in my eyes considering we paid good money to have this floor installed. I would never recommend this company to anymore due to the fact that if an issue arises they are pretty much stuck with a half finished floor.

Hired Empire Today to do floor install. Informed them that I was also having bathroom remodeled. They decided to partially finish the bathroom. I asked Empire to return to complete the job. They indicated that they would only return after I paid them more money. I complained to management and management hung up the phone on me and refused to listen to what I had to say. I am now left with a partially finished floor. Very poor customer service.

After spending 7,000 on carpeting for my entire house, just after 1 year the carpet started to pull away from the walls leaving bumps. I had not even had them shampooed yet and I did not over vacuum that could have caused this problem. I was told when I purchased this carpeting that they were going to send their "A" team to do the installation.

I contacted my salesman about my problem and he told me to contact their office, well they told me there was no warranty after 1 year. After much complaining they finally came out and stretched 1 room and a hallway at no charge. Well here it is only 2 1/2 years and every room has a bump in it. God forbid what will happen if I ever shampoo this carpet. Terrible terrible installation! So sorry I spent 7,000 on this carpet!!!

Absolutely the worst experience imaginable. Signed a contract and made a deposit to have carpet installed on November 2nd, scheduled for November 7th, they don't give you a time in advance so I had to take the whole day off work. Installers show up and realize they can’t insall the carpet because the clearance on my doors will not fit the new carpet. I schedule a carpenter to trim my doors as instructed by the installers for Friday, try about 10 times to get in contact with Empire to have the new install date moved to Friday so that I don't have to take a third day off work.

They don't ever respond, on Friday night I finally get someone to answer the phone at Empire's customer service department. They schedule me for Saturday, November 10th installation. Saturday comes, installer never shows up, he calls me at 5 pm and says “we have too much work so we can’t get to you, someone will call you on Monday to reschedule.” This is after I’ve been waiting for them all day. No one ever calls, Tuesday I call and I am told someone will call me back within 24 hours. Thursday night (November 15th) I call again cause I have not heard from anyone, person tells me, “Oh, we realized we did not show up so we cancelled that order yesterday.” Meanwhile, no one ever told me they pretty much changed their mind on fulfilling their end of our contract and how to get my deposit back. Completely terrible service.

I was looking at two companies, Empire and Luna, for flooring in our kitchen. I couldn't find what I wanted with the Luna company, so I thought I'd get a second opinion and see whatever Empire had, for which they didn't, but he showed me the laminate and I liked the pattern in that. So, I went with Empire instead of calling Luna back. I'm satisfied in the choice that I made with the laminate. Empire's rep was okay. He took $100 off the bill because the measurements weren't right and there were a couple of problems. The flooring wasn't installed the day that it was supposed to because of the wrong measurement of the first people that came here. It was a mess.

The installers did a very nice job, though. The two men that came didn't take them all day. However, I would never deal with Empire again. I'm paying for what I got, and it was priced too high. I could have gotten my whole house done for $1,000. And then, a couple of months later, they got a sale going on. I wish I had stayed with Luna. I got some other rooms and I'm going back to Luna.

The vinyl was done first and the transition pieces they put down between the vinyl and carpet was too high that I couldn't even open my french doors to the backyard. The installer told me I would have to just pull hard on the door but be careful not to scratch the transition piece. When I called about it, the representative told me that I should have read my contract carefully because it states they do not shave doors and that is what needs to be done to correct the problem. Now, the next day with the carpet installers. They both smoked which is fine that's their body. But one of them left a lit cigarette in the hedges and when I mentioned it; he looked at me, shrugged his shoulders, and kept working. Really!!

Salesman came out to home and showed us numerous samples. We pick one that he suggested. Installation took longer than expected. After initial installation everything looked good. Two weeks later the "luxury Vinyl" flooring was "peaking" at the end joints in the kitchen and living room. A call into Empire and a week later someone show up to look at it. They scratched their heads and left. Another two weeks go by and finally an inspector from Empire shows up and says "don't lose any sleep over this as it was a defective lot of flooring." Weeks go by and after numerous phone calls Empire and the flooring company want an independent person to look at the issue. He shows up and does his thing.

A week later I get a hold of the report which states the installation was done incorrectly and there were "site" issues. Now for the fun, Empire was willing to repair or replace but said the "site" issues (supposed unlevel subfloor) would need to be addressed. Repair tech shows up says the installation was done wrong and there was no "site" issues. So three months later finally the issue is hopefully resolved. Lost three months of rent so the $8000.00 flooring job turned into $12500.00. Just a horrible experience with Empire and I would never recommend them to anyone and tell everyone I know not to ever use them for anything.

I financed new carpet with Empire Today a year and a half ago for $3,300. I make monthly payments. I'm about halfway through paying it off. The carpet is no longer lying flat in the hallway. I called Empire Today. I was told I was under warranty and someone would contact me to restretch it. I got the call and was told I was not under warranty (I was beyond the one year warranty), and that it would cost at least $80 to come out - maybe more, depending on what they had to do once they got there.

I did not schedule an appointment for repair. I don't think I should have to pay for it. I'm am an older woman who is extremely clean, neat, & easy on the carpet. I live alone so I am the only one who walks on it regularly. I have no children or pets in the home. And I'm only halfway through paying off $3,300 loan. That's ridiculous. The sad thing is, I am a repeat customer. I don't feel valued as a customer and am disappointed. I won't call Empire for my flooring needs in the future.

Disappointment is an understatement. An appt date was set for this past Monday. My husband and I both arrived home from work early, due to the appt time. The appointment time came and went, no show. The sales rep finally called stating he wasn't going to make it due to his previous appt going through our time. We rescheduled our appt time for two days later. Sales rep promised we would be his priority and he would be on time. He showed up a day early! We were leaving for another out of home appointment and reminded the sales rep our appointment time was the following day. The following day my husband and I both took off of work early to be home at our appt time.

The appointment time AGAIN came and went... no show. I called Empire to discuss what happened. I was told the sales rep was very sorry but he was busy with another customer and wouldn't be able to make our appt. When I expressed my disappointment with the Empire customer service rep, his comment was, "We have other customers, Ma'am." I guess the other customers and their time were more important and valued than mine. To say we are disappointed in Empire is an understatement.

I can go into great detail though I’ve shared this sequence of events far too many times with no resolution. My experience started with a no show of a salesman and no call from the manager. The following week a man come out who showed me some color options for my carpeting and a couple for my kitchen floor. The day came for install of my kitchen floor that I scheduled far in advance, the man came and said it couldn’t be done with the option that was selected and that my sales person should have known. He filled me in on some second choice options and told me I had to call in. So I did, talked to my sales person who told me he had no time then when I called again hours later he was suddenly in the area. He came in. We picked something else and then I was told it was going to cost even more.

I felt like I was haggling to buy a car. Why would I pay more for 2nd choice product? He got on the phone and somehow it ended up a wash or close to it. The next day was to be my carpet install, I asked what could go wrong before my salesman left. He said nothing carpet is easy. Needless to say the man came first thing the next morning, he took a look at my living room and dining room and told me he couldn’t do the install. He has a bad back. Livid at this point he tells me no one can come out for another week. When I tell them to forget the whole thing suddenly someone can come out in an hour and leave all my carpeting and padding on my front porch. Hours later 2 men come and install. The following week my floors are installed. I’ve sent pictures to Empire directly that show damage to these floors as well as cove base that’s not fully attached.

There is also some type plastic between the carpeting and padding on certain spots that you can hear crackle when you walk. I’ve been waiting for months for a resolution. I received an additional bill while waiting that no one could explain and when I ask for itemized statement reflecting the flooring change and the upgrade in padding that we don’t believe we actually got but were charged I was told by Xavier that he didn’t believe it was possible to get those. I put another phone call in yesterday because my husband and I are concerned about this padding. But the poor guy got no answer yet again out of Pittsburgh. Needless to say I would really do my homework before I’d invest in such a project. Something that I was so excited about has brought me nothing but frustration and disappointment.

The carpet cost only $700, which was cheaper than that of another flooring company that I also called before I went with Empire Today. I love the carpet. It took the team one day to finish the job and they surpassed my expectations. I had put one in myself and I know how much work it is, and I didn’t expect them to do that good of a job. They put in that rug and the kitchen floors so easily. I also like that my new flooring hides the dirt. If I get any dirt on the floor, you will not see it. As soon as I get my bill paid for on Empire, then I’m gonna do the main floor of the house, put a new bathroom floor and put in a shower. I would surely phone Empire for the new carpeting and I’m hoping that the men who put in my carpeting upstairs will be available to do the main floor. It started with the sales person telling me I could leave big furniture in the room and the installers would move it around as necessary... that’s not true. Then, a separate team needs to come out to cut down your doors. They will literally NEVER show up and not call to tell you their other jobs took too long so they won’t make it. I’m on my third appointment and it’s going on almost 2 weeks after the carpet install and my doors aren’t cut down. I’ve escalated to several managers and they don’t care. The sales contract guy showed up, gave us a quote for a laminate flooring install. Just for a reminder we lived in the Syracuse NY area and had a contractor install a laminate floor in our dining room. Fast forward to our house in NC... Installer shows up this AM with the "quality flooring product." I looked it over and found the quality of a poor grade. The piece I looked at was a mere 1/4 to 3/16 thick and the exposed fiber tongue, broke off with little effort. I remember the quality of the floor installed in my home in NY, which was at least a half inch thick and was of much better construction and was solid to the touch.

The sample that the sales guy had didn't show this poor quality and the price was equitable to the product used in the NY home. I'm not sure why this flimsy product was not properly displayed, by the salesman. We surely would not have selected this product. Please check the quality of the samples the salesman shows you before selecting inferior materials, and causing undue stress and wasted time. We had to select a different product and wait to have the sales guy requote it, and adjust the budget for the entire bottom floor of our NC home.

I scheduled a free estimate on 10/7. On that day I picked the flooring of my choice. It was originally scheduled to be installed on 10/14. On that day no one showed up. The scheduler called and said the installer had food poisoning and could not make it. I understood and rescheduled for the following day. Although I was told it would only take a day to install I had planned two days off of work because I suspected it would take at least two days so I was not alarmed. On the next day I waited at home from work no one showed up. I got a call by the end of day asking to reschedule for the following day, with an apology from the scheduler.

I explained I could not take off another day in a row. The scheduler promised someone would be there on the third day, because I have to work for a living taking off three days in a row would possibly put my job in jeopardy. So I rescheduled for 10/23. The floors were finally installed and looked beautiful with one problem the installer left three boxes of flooring at the warehouse and I had to reschedule again for the completion of the job. Again I am understanding I said ok. This time rescheduling for 11/6, on that day no installer showed, by this time I am frustrated and decided to go to work on the following day and wait until the installer contacted me before making sure I was home for the install.

The following morning I get a call from the installer saying he had a problem the previous day when would be a good time for him to install the flooring. My response was because it was a storm this morning I don’t have any lights but he could come anytime today. He assured me he would have his generator and had to pick up the flooring and would be on his way. I again stay off work waiting this day no one showed up no call or anything. I called the scheduler and left a message then called customer service. So here it is a fifth day I am waiting for the finalization of this project.

If I keep taking off for this I may not even have a job to pay for the flooring that I am under contract and obligated to pay for in full. I regret choosing Empire Today but 85 % of the job is complete and it would look too bad to have this unfinished. I am so frustrated with this process and the time I have invested for a job I was told would be completed in one day; now that one day has turned into 4 weeks.

Empire Today installs tile. They do. They eventually did install tile. However this took 7 DAYS of waiting 8 am-7 pm for them to show up. Admittedly one time this was the installers coming and saying, "Hey it rained all day. We can't install tile today." Sounds reasonable. It was a variety of interesting silence - I'd get a call around 8 am to say my tile will be installed today... And then nothing. No calls, no show. Take off work? Better devote a week or two of vacation days to use this company. And the fun only starts then. So they install your tile. Found a water leak made my slab totally saturated with water in one corner. Remember that bit about rain? Now it doesn't apply and they say the tile will go down no problems. Moisture meter to measure concrete water saturation levels? Ha! They came back the next day (around 5 PM!) to grout.

They make mistakes - no transition strip, moldings installed inconsistently. The installer didn't have a measuring tape so eyeballed the trim moldings after the tile was installed. You can guess how that looks after they left. And oh? My toilet is overflowing after they took it off and put it back. Aw shucks, I understand must be unrelated right? Plumber augers the toilet and removes GOBS of wax stuffed into the toilet. My nice new floors are covered my swirled feces. Great. Empire says they'll reimburse me. I notice some pieces of my toilet are missing too. Installers threw them away! So I have to order new plates to the toilet, (covers the bolt holes). So I work with corporate they apologize sound nice, and schedule service. No call no show. Call corporate again, they apologize, and guarantee the repairman for the toilet will be here by 5.

4 rolls around, and the guy calls me and says he'll be around 6-7. I'm unhappy but after almost ten visits for 120 square feet of bathroom tilework, I acquiesce. It's 8 PM now. No show. Go figure. I feel ** more than serviced. 80 hours of my time wasted for $15 a square foot tilework I could get done by others. I thought using a big company would be a good idea. I will never trust them again. It's not over though, I still need the installation finished.

There's a gash in the floor between my admittedly nice looking tile and my other flooring, (which is another story - the salesman promised a tile pattern transition strip, but plain metal is all the company says they have now.) I'd be happy to have anything, the job is undone almost two weeks later and I have nothing but wasted time and annoyance, poorly installed trim, and questions whether this flooring install is going to last. No warranty is given for the tile staying down, only for the pattern not wearing off... I wouldn't trust them if you want to retain basic self respect.

Empire rep came 10/31, gave estimate of nearly $9000 to replace old hardwood floors and subfloor on 1st floor. We put down $50 deposit "to lock in the rate." 11/5 salesman returned and we put 1/2 down and applied for and received financing through Wells Fargo - pay in one year, no interest. Installation to run two days, set for 11/8. So far, so good.

Installer/sub-contractor came on 11/7 to "make sure there'd be no problems." It's an old house, has been settling over time. There is definitely a slope in the front room. It's part of the reason we contracted for removal of old floor and sub-floor and new installation. Contractor claimed it would be an additional $2100 to "level the new subfloor." That's some expensive wood on top of the to-be-exposed beams - that makes it an $10,000+ job. We said we'd pass, and initiated cancellation process. Surprise! The start date for our job was suddenly 10/31 (the "lock in the rate" day) rather than 11/5 (the day we actually made the downpayment and were approved for financing), or 11/7 (the day the actual contractor tried to upsell us for $2100) or 11/8 (the day work was to begin).

There is a 3 day Buyer's Remorse window on electronic cancellation (but no email address in the paperwork to which to send) and 5 day for Empire to receive (not for us to send) by mail. So we missed that boat. Called Empire to cancel. Was told they would refund $3100 of the $4000 downpayment to the card we paid on. Or, and this is the kicker, they could lower the additional charge to $100 and we could go ahead with the job. So, lose $900 or pay $100 more - unless additional problems arose once the work started. Have to say, we weren't feeling very trusting at this point. Canceled the job, filed dispute with the credit card company. We'll see.

I'm absolutely disgusted with my entire process with Empire. From the beginning the customer service was the worst. Had flooring and baseboards installed in my half bathroom. 3 months later the paint on the baseboard is bubbling up. Contacted Empire only to be passed around. Submitted pictures and I had to call back every other day until someone would help me. Only for the lady to tell me that it looks like moisture damage and I may have a leak in my walls. I just purchased my home, full inspection and just had all plumbing done in that bathroom, no leaks! But it's also a bathroom so if the baseboard cant withstand moisture why install it in a bathroom? It's a faux wood baseboard. The bathroom doesn't have a bath or shower and the damage isn't behind a sink or toilet. Save yourself the headache and go with a company who will stand behind their customers and not use cheap products in your home. A complete waste of my money.

The customer service is a disgrace, the product is a cheap knock off, and the "warranty" is a joke. I can't get a single installer to come repair the numerous issues with our carpet. Empire Today was supposed to send a sample of our carpet to the Shaw Mill in Georgia, which would have required a claim number, guess what, no sample sent, no claim number, no record of Empire sending a sample, just a lying customer service manager named Ashley ** telling me they sent it to the mill and all came back fine, yet she is offering a full tear out and reinstall of the same carpet for 1000$ off... NO THANKS.

I refuse to do business with Empire Today after the crap they have put me through for 4 months. Not to mention the sexual harassment from the installers. I have 7 claim numbers and pages of notes from my ordeal with Empire Today with no resolution. They are even refusing to come do any repairs now that I got my money back from my bank! This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. Empire Today came out and gave me a quote, the following day a rep called to say they could come down on the original quote because the materials were in stock. I said the quote was great and asked if they could honor the $250 coupon offered online for signing up for their emails. The rep said absolutely, and that he would call to confirm. I called him on Friday to confirm and he said there were no issues and our installation date on Tuesday was good to go as well as the quoted price to include the coupon. He then calls me first thing Saturday morning, when none of their offices have a manager/supervisor available, and says he can't honor the quote given and it would go up. I was told a supervisor would call me first thing Monday morning.

I can't get Empire Today to answer me, I can't get me in touch with a supervisor, and now they are telling me there's no way to honor my installation date. Every time I ask to speak to someone they put me on hold and when they finally get back on the phone they tell me that "someone will contact you in about 24 hours". Empire Today is a SCAM, DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

Friday they arrived at my home, took up my floor and replaced it. Installers were great, floor looks great and Empire stands behind their word. Thank you Empire. I will use Empire again.

    Original Review: Nov. 5, 2018

They came out to install over 400 sq feet of hardwood late afternoon 1 person. I told him 2 day job. He said, "I will finish today." He was dumping boxes of flooring in the middle of the room and then trying to match up pieces. He was throwing pieces and grabbing other. When I came home my wife said he was there to 130 in the morning. I have 3 kids. I was like, "Look at this floor it was scratched up all over." My wife told him the entrance way was part of the floor so he then took up old and put floor in. And it was raining out now at midnight. There are stains like drops on the entrance way in. Can't get them out. Tried everything. Can't get it cleaned up and scratches all over. I need 2 more rooms done in wood so I told the salesmen to wait and see what happens.

The first call they told me to send pics. I did. 2nd they said someone was coming out to look. No show no call. 3rd they say they are coming out Monday between 8 am and 6 pm. I have never had this problem. I've used Empire for 20 years or more on 4 of my houses. Never had a problem. I hope they do the right thing and redo the floor they did and I have 2 more for them and a staircase to do too. Like I said they always did great work. This is the 1st time I had a problem. Installer was a young man. Good worker but just like to throw and dump the flooring.

I've always had Empire Today out in my houses. They did my house in Williamstown about 15 years ago and it was wonderful. This time, I had them in Hammonton. Their salesman did very well. My wife liked their ceramic flooring and I liked it too, so we got it together. Their installers were very nice people. We had them install the flooring in the living room, dining room, hallway, two bedrooms, and two closets. They cleaned up after and they did a good job. It was perfect and the product is beautiful. However, after they put the flooring in, they told us to watch it and don't get it wet because it's gonna get messed up. We thought it was good and a little waterproof, so now we're keeping it dry and there are no problems. I'd probably get rugs in and scratch guard as well because I got a puppy.

Also, the floor was for $8,400. Good thing Empire Today was a nice shop, but it's a lot of money for a couple of floors. When they did my house 15 years ago, I had whole rugs put in my whole house and they only charged me about $2,000. Now, I'm in debt. I gave them around $1,140 and I still owe $7,200. Other than that, I'd recommend Empire Today. We love the floor. When we shine it, nobody walks on it for an hour. We look forward to doing business with them in the future.

The salesman who came in had a beautiful patch and I just fell in love with the rug. I had that done as well as had Empire put in laminated flooring.

The only thing with the installation was they said they would be here at 8 o'clock in the morning and yet they came at noon time. They put the laminated flooring in the kitchen, then they did the living room and the hall. So, they were here until 7:00 PM. Then, they came back the next day and four hours later, they were done with installing in the rest of the house. Other than that, I liked the color of the flooring and it matches my wall. The brand was similar to what I had in here as it was manufactured by the same company. I'd tell anybody to go to Empire.

I deiced to take a closer look at everything and realize they left another gap behind the toilet!! We were charged for them to "flatten our floor" but the contractor did NOT do that, so now we have squeaking floor in the kitchen, gaps in the restroom (wet area), holes on the quarter round base.

I got moisture proof padding and a middle of the price range, average carpeting for two bedrooms, two baths, stairs, hallway, and landing. I like the fact that the carpeting I picked out might not show spots and stains as prevalent as a solid color. I’m hoping that it doesn’t show the wear and tear and stains as badly since it had more of a salt-pepper type appearance to it.

Do not use Empire. I repeat do not use Empire. I recently (1 November 2018) had Empire handle my carpet installation. I called customer service on a Tuesday to find out a price comparison before my install that was scheduled for that Thursday. Empire has a 24 hour policy to call you back. Needless to say they did not call me back. I called twice; once after the 24 hour period on Wednesday and again Thursday morning after telling the installers not to proceed. I was then told by a manager in sales that it would cost some crazy price to change my carpet. He called back after I told him that I would verify the information against an order my friend has coming up. I will inform him about this horrible business so that he can go somewhere else.

I'm sorry that I ever recommended Empire. Then as the installers were wrapping up business they realize that they don't have enough supplies. The installer ask me to sign a form that I was satisfied. I drew a line through satisfied and called Empire. This time I speak to customer service and I explained my situation and the agent informed me that all they would do is to set me up for another day to complete the installation. After asking for a decision maker I was transferred and told the same information and given the same 24 hour timeline by her manager. I asked for corporate's number. I called at 1530 on a Thursday and all I got was a bunch of answering machines. I left a message. As I was about to leave a review I saw the number on this page.

I called and the level of rudeness by the escalation manager was horrific. The first person was fine. I calmed down and explained why I was so upset. He then transferred me to this person that answered, "How can I help you?" I lost it. I asked her, "Did you not receive a brief from the last person or look through the notes." Then she quickly found my issue after a few deep sighs as if I was bothering her. She basically echoed the 24 hour sales manager line and again with some more bothersome exhales. I asked her to please have her manager to call me and she hung up.

I was taught in the military to provide a solution for a problem and I have the following: fire that young lady, dissolve that 24 hour policy, install right the first time or Empire pays for the installation, refund me my installation price and fix this right away. The nerve of this business. I am a disabled vet with mobility issues and I have to be worried about tack strips until you can get back out. I also have small children. Who is in charge? I will also contact my friends that have future installs to tell them about your business practices as well as putting pictures on my Facebook. Good day!

We had a supposedly quality carpet with a 30 year wear warranty installed in March 2018. Within 6 months, the carpet showed unusual and unacceptable wear by our couch. A representative from Empire came out and said we needed to get the carpet professionally cleaned and the problem would be solved. Keep in mind, it's just my wife and me in the house. We did as told and it did no good. Repeated calls to their customer service resulted in unfulfilled promises to contact me. Eventually I contacted the Chicago area BBB and submitted a complaint. Empire responded by saying I must grind my heels in the carpet which voids the warranty.

After I replied that I would have to be mentally ill to sit and grind my heels, they came back with we didn't vacuum enough. After I countered that, Empire came back with the ridiculous statement that we should vacuum DAILY. Again it's just me, 69 years old, and my wife who is 66. No pets or children. Since the BBB did me no good, I have moved on to the Ohio Attorney General's Office. This company should be ashamed of their inaction on my part. Again, 30 year warranty and we got 6 months. Never a reply from their "world class" customer service. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.

I've used Empire before and I've been very happy. I went back to them after a year and used them for the second time. I also saw an ad on TV that said they were having 70% off and it seemed like a good deal. I got some carpet for my bedroom 'cause the rest of my apartment is tiled. I had a wonderful installation experience and the installers were very efficient, helped move some of the heavy boxes, and were very nice to me and my friend. The carpet is stain resistant but when my sick cat vomited on it, I can't seem to get it up. Now, it's brown all over the carpet where she threw up and I'd like to use a scrub brush for what I should do, but staining. Still, the new flooring met my expectations.

I looked around, but I decided to go with Empire. I liked the product, and I had a good experience with them putting my carpet upstairs. However, they had to come back because they did not get all the right measurement of the closet. The in-home sales visit was great and the rep was very good, too. He explained everything and told me what products and what advantages I have. Our new flooring is like a plush and it is the best. Go with it.

We had our three bedrooms installed with carpet by Empire Today. We liked their salesman. He was honest and he gave us a good deal. However, the installation of the carpet went awfully. The head installer was rude. We transitioned from hardwood floors in the living areas of the home to carpeted bedrooms where we had transition strips, he never even reinstalled it. They were just left. If I had to have the same installer again, I wouldn't buy from Empire today. Other than that, the guy that worked with him was awesome. I love the carpet. It is wonderful and easy to maintain.

The installer broke the baseboard of my new bed set and when I ask him about it he called me crazy. On top of that after only two months my floor in my room started to lift. The company send me back the same installer. He spoke to my husband and said he was going to change it that he didn’t know what happen. He was going to order parts. After then I got a call that I had to pay for it because it was not cover that it was moisture.

I spend over a month trying for someone to call me back. I got a callback today and nothing is going to be done because moisture can even be coat by the AC in the house. I think company has really poor customer service. The thing that make a company be successful if it great with customer. If I would have known the flooring was horrible I would not had installed it in my house.

I had Empire Today do my whole downstairs, windows, and some window dressings before, and I was pretty satisfied with their service. But since their price is a bit higher than other companies, I shopped around this time. I still ended up with Empire Today though because they move all the furniture and that was a big factor. Another thing was their warranty is good. I had the upstairs done with new laminate because of the guarantee that it won't buckle and fade and that it's good with water now. I also had Empire Today put in porcelain tiles in the downstairs kitchen and bathroom.

Their installers were very, very good. However, I wasn't wild about the fact that aside from their price was higher in the first place, when the installers came, they ended up wanting $700 more to do the kitchen because they said of what was underneath it, which I never hid what was underneath. I told them there were three floors under there. Then when I called, they said they would give me a coupon and let me put in on my cart. That was a little bit of a compromise, but they should know how to quote it without doing that. I also have a little problem downstairs. They took the toilet off the floor then put it on and it's rocking a little bit. Still, I would recommend Empire Today. The flooring turned out very nice and I like it. I absolutely love the color of the porcelain tiles. I also like the fact that I don't have to worry about water anymore.

We decided to go with Empire simply because of the price, they were the best deal, only a hundred off from Home Depot's estimate but we still went with them because carpet is their "specialty". We met with the sales rep, he came to the house and showed us carpets, we picked a carpet and a day for installation. Seemed like it was going flawless. We even paid in full! The installer came out and within 10 minutes of being at my house told me that the type of stairs I have (capped stairs) will NOT work with the Berber I chose. He even took a piece off the carpet and showed me how the loops will 'smile' when bent over the edges of each stair.

My next question was, why did the sales rep not tell me this? He said, "You'd have to ask him, it's a common issue with the Berber carpets." The sales rep, when I called him, was extremely unapologetic and frankly seemed like he was tired of this sale. He said he'll come out in a few days with different carpets for me to choose. He finally comes out 3 days later and starts to show me carpets that are almost a thousand dollars more than what I initially paid!

I told him we will think about it and asked him to leave, I am going to try to call Empire again today to give me another sales rep or refund me completely because that is a VERY sneaky way to upsell and I was NOT born yesterday. This guy gets paid off of commission and this just seems like his sneaky way of making more commission off of a young girl who seems like she doesn't know any better. Steer clear of this company! They are delaying with every step of this process! They were very quick to take my money and now when there is a problem, I keep getting the runaround! I will also be telling all of my friends, coworkers, church family, and volunteer groups about this HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

I talked with other retailers and for what I was looking to have done and the time frame that I was trying to get it done, Empire Today gave me the best option. Also, they did the carpets upstairs 10 years back. I knew what I was getting with Empire. I already had a history with them, so that worked out. I had my upstairs recarpeted and I had the wood laminate floors put down downstairs. I was getting tired of the dog hair and constantly vacuuming the floors so I found an easy solution where I could keep the house clean without having to drag the vacuum cleaner all over the place.

The guys came and moved stuff around. They took their time and did a good job. I like the way that they got the upstairs out of the way and the stairs. Then, they came back and they did the downstairs. The installers knew what they were doing and they had all the right equipment that they needed. They knew how to use it without tearing the whole house up. They did what they had to do, and they respected the house. I appreciated that. The harder part is paying for it all but I'm satisfied and I recommended them to a couple of people.

Even though the installation wasn’t done fast for my liking, it was done when he said it would be so I’m happy with that. As far as him coming in saying that he can do this for this much money, this day, be in here this time and be out by this time, he handled it 100%. It worked out wonderful. My friend recommended Empire Today and we had them install laminate wood flooring for our bedroom. Everybody was friendly and very informative. However, people were telling me that I could’ve gotten the flooring cheaper at some other places. Still, I liked everything except for the installation under our radiator. They had to cut around and it looked awful. The installers didn’t lift the radiator up, although I asked them before it happened. That was my main concern before I did the purchase because we have radiators in our home. I kept asking if they were able to do it and Empire called people who said they would deal with it.

Empire should let the contractors come out first and look at the place for installation. They should have the installers come out and say whether they can or cannot do what needs to be done. They should be open and honest if they can do the radiators or if they can’t lift it up. They should tell the customer it needs to be put up first. Empire shouldn’t do hardwood floor tile in a house with radiators.

I'm very satisfied with my laminate wood flooring and its installation done through Empire Today. I got laminate wood flooring from them for my living room. Before that, I had the kitchen done but the guy who did it got a regular, full-time job and he didn't want to do my living room. And then, as I was sitting here watching TV, I saw Empire's ad and I called them with the intention of just getting a testament on doing it. Their guy came out and he was nice. And I felt like what he offered me was a fair deal, because even though I could have gotten somebody who would have done it cheaper, I'd have to buy the flooring, install those and move everything.

Empire's people came in and they moved everything from the east side of the living room to the west side. They put the floor down and moved everything back to the east side, and moved the stuff on the west side over. I got two really good guys and they mostly spoke English when they were around me. They were here for around six hours and when they were about done, two other guys came in and helped them finish it up. All in all, they had done a great job.

NEVER DO BUSINESS with EMPIRE TODAY. This is VERY long. But it is a word of caution. Use this company at your peril. I don't anticipate an answer (and will revise if there is something that comes of it). PLEASE SHARE!!! Enjoy! Outlined the entire experience below. And as expected, he was condescending. Quoted policy-script, and worst of all... offered me $500 off if I would take the installation. I am amazed at the attitude and approach. It was NOT about money in the end... It was about a company I can trust, and I will never ever use your company again and neither will my friends, my family, or my vast contacts online.

Mind boggling how an obvious end to end mess up by your company cannot take ownership and do the right thing. It's the best $389 I have ever spent not getting your carpet, as if it was installed and something went wrong... I can only imagine how much MORE it would have cost. Enjoy a nice dinner in New York City on me. It was worth every penny. Best to your organization. You are going to need it.

I am a third time return customer for Empire Carpet. Also, my family has used your service to satisfaction in the past. Believe overall we have as a family used your services roughly 8 times. Which is why I came back for my home where I reside now in Maine. I reached out via your 800# and had an appointment with Robert **. He was professional. On time. Showed us options. The normal experience I have had with your company and said he would be available in case we had any challenges. We set the appointment to install on a rounded 4k purchase of our master bedroom, three others, and hallway a month out so there was ample time for the install.

We got a message they would be there during the "afternoon" which normally would mean to most people 1-4 which is the "afternoon" not evening. Regardless, we waited. We called and asked for an update midday and told they would be there "within the hour" this proceeded throughout the day until my work day was over and I called and told "40 minutes." It was now 5:30. Seeing a van turn down my street it was almost 6 pm when they finally arrived. Two men for a large job and what I suspected was not enough carpet to do the job as they said (barely speaking English but I speak some Spanish) they "were up for it" which I thought would mean them there until at least 11 pm having had this size job done in the past.

They entered. I outlined the work (that was outlined on the sheet by room with measurements) and they said (while speaking Spanish I could understand enough) that they did not have enough carpet to do the job... And not just a room... but the entire thing sans ONE SMALL OFFICE. At this point, my house was fully broken down without a place to sleep and no use of two bathrooms as we did as we were told and were prepared with furniture clear (I have pictures of it timestamped if you would like). I called customer service and said I was open to rescheduling if it could be done on Saturday as time off from work was not an option, or due to the ineptitude and lack of care. It was your duty to accept a cancellation with a full refund. I held up my end, your organization did not, and the simple fix was give me my money back or put it in on a weekend.

I called the sales rep Robert who was so nice prior, who apologized, said he would return my call, speak with his supervisor, etc... NO CALLBACK, then I called your customer service organization, and it was a comedy of errors with no follow up, no looking at notes, repeating myself multiple times. Finally... I got Thomas at ** in your installation department who apologized profusely, said that it was "all Empire's fault" and of course I would get to cancel and get my money back... From there I was waiting on follow up.

Finally got follow up on Monday the 29th with a voicemail and your customer service department informing me that "I" had canceled... which was NOT the case. EMPIRE massively dropped the ball and needed to do the right thing by their clients and refund my money and maybe down the line after this horrific experience if far behind me might give you a mulligan and consider your company again. I asked to be transferred to Thomas (who did not call me after the apologies) who had all the info. Instead I was put on hold and waited north of 30 minutes to speak to a supervisor for what should have been a simple thing. Empire messed up (not just shortage on rug. The ENTIRE rug, made a client wait an entire day, sent an inept small crew without even the materials to do the job, then tossed around like a football with no coordination or transaction number to satisfy what had been a loyal customer).

Short version. Fix your backyard. It's a mess. I am writing this while on hold, and we shall see if the supervisor does the right thing and refunds my money like any good company would do when they make massive errors (I have been in sales my entire life... Would never treat a client this way.. I man up and fix it). But at this point... I do not have high hopes. We shall see. If you have an interest in learning what is happening on the ground to ensure you keep the reputation of your company heading in the right direction, my direct line is: **

It is with deep dissatisfaction and disappointment that I write this correspondence. Maybe a bit too much sharing... But I lost a dear pet this month... And to cheer us up, we were replacing the rugs because as animals can do sometimes... There are stains. Instead, we have ANOTHER headache and another disappointment to deal with. Salt in a wound. At the ending of the correspondence I have been on hold for 40 minutes... And told it could be a half hour before a supervisor gets on the phone. If I ran my business this way... I wouldn't be around long. Thanks for reading this. I know it's long... But I have had a lot of time to write it.

I could not urge customers to stay away from Empire Today, more. I'll just lay down what our experience has been like so far. First, they put in the wrong carpet in two of our rooms. The form they showed me at the time of installation, said that it was the carpet we ordered. Secondly, the carpet was supposed to be put in place by an adhesive, and not tacked into the floor. They tacked it in the floor. Additionally, we requested that they leave space around our side door. They brought the carpet all the way to the door, and now we cannot use our side door without using great effort to force it open. Lastly, I asked the installer to use a silver trim where the carpet meets the tile. They used a gold trim.

When we called into the customer support line, they were beyond unhelpful. At first, they blamed us and said "Well that's why we say to watch them while they do it". I believe it is unreasonable for me to sit there for several hours, watching people work. I'm not a carpenter, I assumed I was paying a company to do what I paid them for.

Their customer service has never been proactive in calling us. Eventually, they would call us back, after we opened several cases because of the lack of response. Four days after we opened our first request, they finally told us two things. This has happened before, because the colors were so close. They didn't have the adhesive yet, so we would have to wait for any corrections to be made. Right there, they are saying they already weren't prepared for our original install date. When we asked them about the holes in the floors under the carpet, the manager on the phone said "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it." To that, I say; We're at that bridge now and we have been for a week now.

Finally, over the phone they said they would come the next Saturday, 11/3/2018. Two weeks, after the initial install. However, they "couldn't" give us a verification email or number. So who knows if and when they will be coming. When we asked to be part of the email chain, to make sure the proper people were being included, another manager said, "We don't have email that can go to customers." There is no way that is possible.

We posted a comment on their Facebook page on Friday (11/26), which they responded that they found our case in their system, and that they would call us on Monday. Well, between then (10/29/2018) and now they have erased that post. They have not called us either, which we knew they would not, per their prior lack of response.

I ask you (the consumer), to seriously consider if you want to use this company. After my own experience, and reading through several others. If everything goes perfectly, then things are fine. However, if there is anything that needs corrected, it will take everything you have to get them to correct it... if they even will. To those at Empire, you will not find a case under my name, as it is under my wife's name (different last name). You have her number, so you can contact us. I hope this finds its way to someone at the company who knows how to actually assist their customers, but I won't hold my breath.

I liked the way that Empire did business and they did not break it down to moving furniture. Larry, my salesman, was a good guy and he backed up everything he said he would. Plus, they did the installation the next day. I put a vinyl floor in about 90% of my house and had it done in two different times. I had a problem with the last group. I knew they unhooked the water of the washer because they had it backward when they hooked it back up. When they put my washer back in, they didn’t put the drain back on, and that made a big mess. The next day, when I went to do my clothes, I had three rooms full of water. Larry was supposed to come by and talk about it but he told me that they were not supposed to do washers and dryers.

Moreover, they trimmed my door to where my pantry is and they didn't do a good job on that either. I also had a little problem with communication between. One guy speaks English but the rest of them don’t. That one group, they were all up from El Salvador. But the installation was perfect and the flooring has been excellent. I have a 25-year-old carpet that Empire Today did for me that's still going strong. One of the bedrooms didn't have any carpet and I saw that Empire had a sale going on, so I called them. This time around, I had them install laminate flooring and ceramic tile in my house. The second floor bedroom, two bedrooms, and the hallway were done in oak laminate. I did a nice barnwood laminate in gray for my family room, and then I did a gray ceramic tile in the small bathroom in the basement.

The color and the style of the floor was similar to a hardwood floor that my husband laid in one of the other bedrooms, so I decided to try to match that as close as possible. We had foundation work done in the family room and the basement that the tile was torn up and so we had to redo the whole room and the bathroom. I wanted something new and easy to maintain. The installers that did the flooring were excellent. The laminate in the bedroom was a two-day job because one of the bedrooms was full of stuff that I had to move out. So they had to give me time to move it out. But the first floor and the larger bedroom, and the hallway were done in one day. I absolutely love our new flooring. I really like that Empire finished off their work. They put trim around the walls of the rooms that they do, and that was important to me for a finished look. I'd used Empire again if I had another floor that I wanted done. They covered everything really nicely.

Empire called 10/9 and left a message saying that they did not have the carpet and would have to reschedule for 10/27. Then Empire called on 10/27 to confirm my installers would be coming out in the afternoon. Guess when my installers came? 9am. Did they have all the materials? No. The installers came and told me that not only do they not have the plywood, but they also do not install plywood at all.

Empire had us sign a contract for a service they can not provide! When I called to cancel, this multi-million dollar company would not give us our $250 deposit back, even though it was a breach of contract. I had them install carpet in three bedrooms, and then I had the vinyl installed in the half bath and the kitchen. It was done in just a few hours and it was done very well. I like the carpeting really well. I got a nice thick pad, and it's so comfortable to walk on. And then, the vinyl brightened up my kitchen. I'd recommend Empire Today to a friend.

We purchased carpeting for our basement from Empire Today. The salesperson seemed knowledgeable and completed our purchase. The carpeting was quoted to have a 20 year wear warranty. Within 5 months after purchase the carpeting was matting on the stairs and at the bottom of the stairs. There are only 2 of us in the house that use the basement on a regular basis. Empire sent in 2 inspectors. They both agreed that the carpeting was matting. The 2nd inspector took samples - noting the fibers were untwisted in the matted areas. Again this carpet was quoted with a 20 year wear warranty.

Empire refused to accept the claim. They told us to steam clean the carpet. The carpet is not soiled and the 2nd inspector clearly noted the pristine condition of the carpet. It is ridiculous that as buyers we have to start steam cleaning new carpet after 5 months to counter the matting of brand new carpet. Empire totally misrepresented the quality of the carpet sold to us and then refused to acknowledge the problem although clearly noted by the inspectors. This is beyond "buyer beware" and more on the lines of fraud and deceit. Not only will I never buy anything from this company again but I will repeat my story to anyone or on any social network I can to help other avoid our mistake - buying anything from Empire Today.

Very satisfied with the Sakes representing the company and the team of four men putting the flooring in, only one day. Only drawback is initially the team was not aware they had to move the furniture and asked if they could reschedule the installation. After consulting his superior, they went immediately to work - moving the furniture and installing. I even offered to go get lunch for them, which they all texted and wanted to keep on working. My husband and I are very happy and would definitely recommend EMPIRE to anyone looking for a flooring company. ❤️

The laminate was installed but the carpet installer never showed up. Took the whole day off of work and now need to find a more reputable company to do the carpet as I will never use Empire Today again.

Empire's laminate flooring was also on sale at the time and that was what I got. I had it installed in my entry way, bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen. The guys that did the installation were great and it took them about a day and a half to finish. The flooring is easy to clean and I'm getting used to it because I never had it, but I'm satisfied.

Original Review: The installation date was Oct 18th but was changed to Oct 23rd. The installer came out but informed me that the vinyl was not cut correctly and he could install it crossways. But I said no. He called the office and told me he COULD come back on Friday Oct 26 to finish the job. No one called me from the office. I called on the 25th. I was told they couldn't get it done until Monday, 29th. I explained that was unacceptable because my hallway would be a mess the whole weekend. He said that was the best he could do and I had to honor the Contract and hung up (I also Said the contract was voided when work wasn't done on time)!

I am writing regarding my experience with Empire which was terrible. The salesman came into my house stating how great their product is and if I ever have any trouble with it they are more than willing to come and fix it as long as I own my home. Well I ordered their laminate flooring got it installed and it looked great but about 3 months later had issues with it buckling up. They came out, said it was moisture and then he looked over, saw I had a dog bowl in the kitchen, said it was my dog peeing on the floor!! My dog had never peed in my living room before so I was surprised to hear that. Then I thought I have a lifetime warranty on the flooring which is what the salesman told me, but that was not true.

I had the problem again in another area. They said, "Nope. Not covered under the warranty. We cannot do nothing about it." Sent out a person with a little machine. She said and I quote "no it's not from dog urine. Probably cleaning product. Let me see if we can come and repair that small area." Well get a call. They said, "Nope. We cannot fix it. Not under warranty for moisture." Now I am going to complain to every avenue I can because I feel Empire use moisture problems for everything not to fix their flooring.

I would caution everyone be careful buying a floor from them because they do not stand behind their product, will blame the customer for improper cleaning of the floor. I will continue to put my review out there because they are not a good company to work with. Once I started to complain their customer service people was very rude with me and even told me that I need to go purchase another floor from another company. I am going to seek help from a tv station to investigate them because I see many customers are having the same issues with their customer service after they purchase the product. I am ashame that your company work like this, I am telling everyone I know and going on social media to warn them about buying your product!!

They said it was only $1,200 and I felt that the floor would be a lot more than that. The installers came in and put the flooring on top of the other floor that was ripped. They sealed it up, where the hole was and they ripped it out a bit more. They then put the compound down on it and they let the wood floor dry. As soon as it was dry, they covered it and then they laid the other floor on top of the wood floor. I love the way the flooring goes with my cabinets. The new floor is also easy to maintain. I sweep it, then use a Swiffer and it’s done.

And I had everything moved out there but I left just the hot water tank because I was gonna wait and drain it. I'd have it shut off when they were ready for me. So I could just unhook it. I called my rep who then said, "We'll take care of it and reimburse you." I haven't heard anything from anybody else since then.

Updated on 10/24/2018: As of today, 10-24-18, the Dallas customer Service rep (Megan) called to tell me they are doing nothing to address my concerns and the inspection report has been altered by the initial inspector (Kieth) to show me at fault and not them. Also told that there was no such thing as a third party inspector. Empire Today are liars and have no place in this industry. This is the worst by far customer service nightmare I have experienced ever!!!

Original review: On September of 2017 I contracted Empire Today to install laminate/carpet flooring in my home. Installation seemed to go well, except several months later there was a creaking noise on the laminate flooring along the baseboards. A second installation crew came back out and advised the baseboards were improperly re-installed and had to remove them and replace them with a small gap so the creaking would stop.

I also asked the lead installer at that time on the best what to maintain my laminate flooring and she told me to use a wet/dry mop with a light spray of Murphy’s Oil a Soap to maintain a new and luster appearance on my floor. I have used a small bottle of this product over the last year now and am now seeing some scattered spots of the laminate that is curling up sling the edges. In addition some of the laminate boards are separating with some being in excess of an eight of an inch gaping which is quite intrusive looking.

Last week (Thursday) I contacted the Empire Today Installation Manager and explained to him my situation and he scheduled to have a representative to come out this Monday (10-22-18). A representative (Kieth) arrived and spent about two hours inspecting my laminate flooring. His observations as he explained to me were that there was a definite gapping issue between the laminate slats which was beyond the industry standard and some definite curling. His comments to me was that it was either a defect in the installation process or a manufacture defect. After his consultation with his supervisor (Installation Manager “Chris”), it was determined that a third party was needed to re-inspect and relay their findings to Empire for a final decision.

The Installation manager advised me he would reach back out to me by end of business that same day with a scheduled time for the third party installation date. That never happened. Many attempts were made by myself to contact the Installation Manager with no response. I attempted to contact the Customer service Manager (Megan), and after multiple attempts she called me and after my explanation to her of the issue she told me there was no such thing as a “third party inspection”, and that she was the responsible person to address my issues.

After multiple attempts to contact the Installation manager to get the real story and finally reaching him he hung up on me. I immediately attempted to contact the Corporate offices of Empire Today and explained the issues to them. I requested they relay my concerns to their Resolution depart for a resolve, but as yet I have received no contact. This is the worst by far customer service nightmare I have experienced ever!!!

The sales representative came out and sold us the flooring, we scheduled the installation for 2 weeks out. The installer came out and gave us a 4 hour window and showed up at the tail end of the end of the window and stayed for 10 minutes. They suspected asbestos tile was present due to the year our home was built. That was completely understandable, but why hadn't the salesperson told us about this issue? He did the same survey of our home as the installer and if flooring is your business, shouldn't you be aware of potential issues that could have been corrected prior to the installers arriving, especially with an installation date two weeks out. Once the asbestos was tested and abated, we called the salesperson again to schedule the installation and he assured us they could come out the next day to do the installation and with his insistence, we called the home office to schedule the install for the next day as well.

The home office gave us a 10 hour window! We reserved 10 hours to wait for the installers to come out the next day. The company sent a text and called the next day to confirm the installation and remind us of the 10 hour window. Well we waited the TEN hours PLUS 45 minutes more and no one showed up nor did they call to let us know that they would not be able to do the job. The sales rep Lynda ** came out to measure my home and show flooring/carpet samples. She completely mis-measured everything, which caused the installers to have to spend more time re-measuring. They had also run out of material and had to come back a different day to finish. She GUARANTEED the vinyl flooring to be done in 1-2 days and the carpet 1 day. We told her that was fine and they can start work on Wednesday 10-17-18. We again asked if they will have everything completed before the weekend, and again she GUARANTEED that the work would be done before the weekend.

Due to her incompetence and cluelessness, the work wasn’t done until late Saturday afternoon. As long as she got the sale done, she didn’t care about telling the truth. If she had come out and said it will take 3-5 days, then we would have had them start on Monday. She also told us the installers would hang plastic sheets around the areas where they had to tear up tile, and they did not do that so my house was filled with dust. I will get into the installers next, but wanted to point out the lies that were told to us to finalize the sale.

DAY 1: Vinyl installers show up. One guy with a very young helper. His helper looked completely lost and barely did any work. The installer had him tear up our tile in the kitchen and by our front door. Again, they did not cover up anything, so dust was all over the place. They were also so careless with the tile removal that pieces of tile were flying everywhere taking chunks of drywall out of our freshly painted walls. Due to the installer being completely understaffed, they barely finished one room on the first day. I had also received an email later in the afternoon stating the carpet would be installed the next day, Thursday 10-18-18. I then called Empire Customer Service just to verify that was correct, and was told yes the carpet will be installed 10-18-18.

DAY 2: We were told they would show up around 8 but they didn’t show up to our house until 10. Now the installer brings 2 kids with him, again looking like it was their first day on the job. We were also told by Lynda that all installers are background checked and verified, but who knows if that is the case. The carpet installers have still not showed up, so I call into Empire Customer Service and am told that I am scheduled to have the carpet installed 10-19-18. I told them no, I was told on 10-17-18 that it would be installed on 10-18-18. The service rep had no clue why I was told that when they showed 10-19-18. I later am told directly by the vinyl installer that he told the carpet installers to not come that day because he had flooring to do and couldn’t do it with them coming in and out. Again, this shows the terrible service this company claims to be so prideful of.

DAY 3: Vinyl installers show up around 9am and start work to finish flooring. I receive a call from the carpet installers that they are finishing up at a job and will be at my home at 12:00pm to start. I am told I have to disassemble any beds. The sales rep Lynda told us Empire would move all furniture, all we had to do was take the sheets off the beds. Again, more lies to complete a sale.

The carpet guys even started tossing furniture all over, damaging some walls. I call Jay ** the satellite manager for the area and let him know what is going on. He promises me the beds will be taken care of and the jobs will be completed by the end of the day, even if they have to stay late. A little after 6pm the vinyl installers inform me they are almost complete but will have to come back on Saturday morning to finish. At about 7:30pm the carpet installers inform me that they have one more room to do, but will have to come back in the morning. Now I’m being lied to by the direct manager overseeing all operations. One of the carpet installers asks us to sign the paperwork stating the job was finished because the other installer coming on Saturday doesn’t speak any English. We told them we are not signing anything until the job is complete.

DAY 4: Carpet installers told us they would be at our home at 7am, did not show up until 8:30am. Vinyl installers show up at 9. Carpet gets finished and I sign the paperwork. About 20 minutes later, the vinyl installers are in my laundry room moving my washer. They did not detach any of the water lines from the water, and proceed to snap my cold water pipe in half, flooding my downstairs. Water gets into an office I have and soaks the brand new carpet. The installer then starts to say I had a bad pipe and that’s why it broke, it was nothing that they did. As he is saying this I am staring at the hoses still connected to the wall. So because they failed to properly disconnect and the lines and take care of my appliances, I now have to call a plumber to repair this.

The plumber comes out and repairs the pipes. As he is working the vinyl installer walks over every 5 minutes to remind the plumber it was a bad pipe not them. Once the plumber is finished I ask him in his professional opinion if it was a bad pipe or if they broke it. He tells me the pipe is not old and does not appear to have any rust or build up, and that the only way it could have broken was if they pulled on it. The plumbing bill comes out to almost $500. Once he leaves the flooring finally gets finished. As I go to sign the paperwork I see he already filled it out for me, answering all the customer questions beforehand. Questions like “Would you recommend Empire”. I then check no, I would not recommend this company.

The next day a couple areas where the carpet were laid are now coming away from the walls. It is supposed to be quality work, and this is the complete opposite. The caulking on the baseboards was terrible. They got caulk all over our paint. They also ignored our requests to keep the front door closed when not in use. Overall, Empire is a terrible company. This has been a mess from the start, and is certainly not worth the money I am spending. I expect to receive a refund for the plumbing bill I had to pay, and for management to reduce my overall cost of this project.

I had laminate put in in the living room, dining room and bedroom. I had this laminate in my kitchen before, and I like it. So, I got something that matched it. I love my new flooring and it is easy to clean.

We bought this place a year and a half ago and the carpet was worn out and I didn't realize it was that far gone. I even put up with it for a year. When the salesman from Empire Today came, he was helpful. He brought in different types of carpets which my son and I looked at. I wanted something that wouldn't be so plain and if kids got something on it, it wouldn't show up so bad. So I chose the beige carpet. It blends in with everything that I have. I had carpeting done on my master's bedroom, closet, and the hallway. I also had carpet installed in my 17 x 25 living room.

The gentleman and his helper who installed it were fantastic. They came in and didn’t fool around. They didn’t talk among themselves except when it concerned the carpet. The thing I liked about it is that when they were done, they vacuumed every piece of the carpet with a Shark vacuum and put the furniture back where I wanted it. They have very good workers. People who see the flooring complement that it's nice to look at. Overall, I would highly recommend Empire Today.

Be more careful with Empire Today. We were selling a rental property and we wanted the flooring done. We called Empire Today and they said they could have the carpeting installed right away. The sales rep came to show the samples and we picked out what we wanted then he gave us the price. But when the flooring came, it didn't match to the sample that was in the book. It was almost a creamy white, like vanilla, whereas the one we picked was a deeper brown. But when we called Empire Today, the salesman said it was the one we had picked. It was too late to do anything about it. The installers were very good though. They came in, did their job, cleaned up and left. Nonetheless, we put our confidence in the sales rep but bottom line, what we got wasn't what we wanted.

We also had a couple other quotes and Empire's was right in the middle, but they had good service. I was impressed with the people that did the work. They were very good.

The contractor arrives at 1:30 PM. Tells me it's too much work to be finish by 4 and leaves. I call to cancel altogether and get Ms. Daisy on the phone. Speak to her about hanging up on my husband and then ask for a manager or supervisor.

So I get Jason, who states, he will indicate they must come in the morning because the work has to be done by 4. Well today October 20th, 2018 my new day starts off just the same. Automatic message at 730 they will be here within the hour. Then at 10 I get a message from the installer he is still in Long island at the warehouse and it takes 1 1/2 hours to get to me. He'll call me back. I called Empire then get hung up on by Delores. Called back get Alexandra who gives me a voicemail to leave a message. So the contractor comes and now the floor has asbestos and the cost to remove and then they refused to give me back my refund said because its past the time frame on the contract. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Don't do it. It's a waste of time and money. Bottom line my floors are still not done.

What we picked out was something that we could afford, and that's the reason we got it. They were supposed to do our hallway, but they didn't have enough material to do it so they had to come back extra time. I have been very pleased with the carpet I got from Empire Today, and the installers were fantastic. They carpeted the entire house with the exception of the bathrooms and the laundry place. And then, I went ahead and put the tile in that but they ran the carpet up. They put the strips over between the carpet and the tile. They got here and they worked all day. They didn't even take a break, and I was really surprised. When they left, I gave them a tip of $100 because they did such a good job.

Before going with Empire, I've checked around and Empire seemed to be the cheapest. Also, the guy that came in to show us the carpet was very good and very professional. He wasn't pushy, and I appreciate that because I don't like pushy salesmen. He was very exact on everything, and he told us what he'd do and when they could do it. And we decided, "You know what, this is where we wanna do spend our money."

Our new flooring has been fine. We haven't had any trouble. It cleans up well. It vacuums easily. When you first vacuum them, you get a lot of fuzz off of the top of them, and we didn't get that, and that was good. Empire would be the place I'd go. We're gonna be moving to New Mexico, and I've already checked to see if they had Empire distributors there, and they said they did. So, when we buy a new house, I'll pull the carpets up because I have no idea what's been on those carpets, and we would go with Empire again.

    Original Review: Oct. 19, 2018

This is a big story but let me explain in short. I was buying a home and wanted to have the new carpet installed. I scheduled a free estimate by these guys. Not sure if this is really a free estimate as their representative gets pissed off if he doesn't close the order. He was fuming when he realized that I was not in favor of giving an order. Finally, I gave the order with 10% deposit and it was my bad that I couldn't buy the home due to some unexpected contingent issues during the final walk-through.

When I called these guys and asked for the refund, they came back with the story that the advance is non-refundable and they did not pay me. They mentioned that, it is all written in the contract and blaming me for not reading the contract thoroughly. The guy who came for the estimation said that the advance is refundable. I can understand if a small local guy does this but I never expected such a big company behaves this way. I can understand that they have their own rules in the contract but their people should spell it out when they get the orders. I don't know how many people read the whole contract.

I agreed that he could come the next morning, which he promised would be first thing at 8:00.

At 8:45 I got the second call canceling, and I now have a promise that they will arrive tomorrow between 9:30 and 10. Will they? My confidence is approaching zero, and I have now waited around a lot. I haven't even seen whether the carpet meets expectations yet or not. I tried to call customer service to complain, and was told by auto message that I was 17th in line and I didn't feel like waiting through THAT many calls. (How about an auto call back feature Empire?) I won't use Empire again after this, and if the installers don't show as promised, I am going to cancel the job and ask for my money back.

So we had carpet installed this September, it has been a nightmare ever since. I had doubts when they first asked me if the carpet was what I picked out, I said it felt like kinda crappy carpet. Not like the sample that was shown, but I thought ok maybe with the padding down it will be better, boy was I wrong! I should have went with my gut and not even had anything done. The installers were very nice, but I felt like they were in a rush to get to their next job, they left and said they would be back to fix a few things when they were back in the area aka the translations of the carpet from the tile flooring. So he used masking tape to hold it down till he came back out, no biggie. I feel like everything was left not finished and was told that to fix it right is extra.

The sales person told me transitions and everything is included, but installers say, "Oh no. The salespeople don’t know what they are talking about." Ok they take up the old floors and say, "Oh this tile is chipped" which I never seen it chipped before but ok 1 tile. I wasn’t gonna make a big deal over, then when the carpet was put down they had to cover the crack. So along where the living room and dining room meet there are areas that are supposed to be a straight line and just go along with the crack. Called, they came out to fix the translations and tap down some racks and fix the carpet that was already coming up and tack down every doorway because every time you walk you can feel the tacks.

Later that night my daughter cut her knee open from the tacks that were taken care of earlier that day. They come out again to look and stretch the carpet and try to tack it down so it would stay, but was told if they push the racks down the carpet won’t stay so I said neither my kids are going to cut up their feet and get hurt or the carpet is going to keep coming up? Their answer was YES! I’m tired of typing because this, and this isn’t even the whole story, customer service doesn’t care, their supposedly managers don’t care and I’m over it! Not only did I not get the right carpet, it was not installed correctly and now I have to find out how to get the other 4-5 tiles that were broken from the installers coming out 4 more times to try and fix the carpet fixed. As Empire said “they won’t take ownership for breaking the tiles”!

I was told by a “supervisor” in the call center that Friday I would be the first instillation and she promised to email me her contact as soon as our call ended. That didn’t happen and the 9 am install I was promised is now a 8-6 window. I hate to write a poor review but I would not recommend Empire. Robert the salesman was a class act but the service after the sale is very poorly run. The installation department is like The Wizard of Oz, no one can speak to them or question them. After that, we looked at some other colors and I decided on a different color. It was okay because it was in the bedroom area versus what I had out in the front room. It was close to my furniture so it worked. The laminate flooring is great and the color looks and feels good to touch. The person who came and talked to me was very cordial and friendly. He worked within my budget to get it where I needed it. Empire’s pricing was a little on the high side but getting it done quickly and in a timely manner mattered more to me at the time. Here is what has happened so far with this whole process. It all started when I received the first email and call from Empire Today confirming the Hard surface installation for 09/29/18. As the email stated I boxed up all breakables, removed everything from the walls and moved it all into the 2 bedrooms that were scheduled to have carpet installed on 10/6/18. On Sat morning I received a call again confirming installation and that the installer was on his way. Shortly after that the installer showed up by himself and told me that NO installation was happening today as the flooring needs to acclimate to my environment. This was surprising to me because I was NEVER told this was something that happens and had taken the day off of work in order to be there for the demo, I could have avoided moving everything if I would have known that nothing was happening that Sat (Empire Today wasted my time).

When I called customer service they said, "Oh, I see your install is scheduled to start Monday 10/1/18," and again told me about the product acclimating. The question I have is that if the product needed to acclimate to the temperature of my home, why did the guy leave all the product in my garage which was hot and Humid??? Monday 10/1/18 the same guy that dropped off the flooring in my garage showed up with one other person and started to remove the tile as well as putting my stove, washer and dryer in the garage. They worked form 8-4 and said they would be back Tuesday 10/2/18 to finish demolition that was left and do the installation. On Tuesday only one person showed up and stayed for about an hour, then stated that he can't keep doing this because it would take him 3 days and proceeded to call Empire.

I then received a call from Empire saying that I would need to pay a third party to grind down the floors. The installer recommend me call a company which I did and the floors were level by Thursday 10/4/2018 for an extra $2200.00!!! I called Empire and rescheduled my carpet for 10/13/18 as the bedrooms were full of all the furniture from the rest of the house, and they said I could have the hard floors installed Sat 10/6/18. On Sat 2 new people showed up at 7:30 am and said that they would probably have to do more leveling and that this wasn't their install job because they were just picking it up from someone else. I told them that I had just paid to level all the floors, and they agreed to start the install.

They only worked until about 4 pm and didn't patch any of the large cracks on foundation. The concrete contractor told me that the concrete will need to be filled in and the installers should do that as he saw that we had bags of patching in the garage that was left with the materials. I did notice that there were 7 bags of patching that was in the garage along with the flooring. When I called to speak to an installation manager the customer service agent said that the manager wasn't available, then called to speak to the installer, and got back on the phone with me saying that the installer said they don't patch cracks. WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH? The 2 guys said they would be back Monday 10/8/18 to finish the install of the hard surfaces.

On Monday they both showed up again and continued the installation of the flooring in the hallway leading to the guest bath. They then said that if we are having the carpet in the bedrooms installed Sat 10/13/18, that they should take out the tiles in the bedrooms today Monday 10/8/18 because the people who install the carpet would not be able to demo the tile and it would delay the process even further. I agreed and then helped the installers move all the furniture out of the bedrooms (including small items we were not prepared for) and into the living room and outside of my house. They stayed until 8 pm on Monday 10/8/18 so that all the demo was done, but they had to come back Tuesday 10/9/18 because they didn't have enough baseboards or any of the molding for under the cabinets to complete the installation of the hard surfaces.

I ended up calling out of work Tuesday 10/9/18 so that they could complete the install because I didn't feel comfortable leaving anyone in alone in the house. Monday I was outside while the demo and installation was taking place and I hear 2 kids voices and a different voice speaking to the installers, the installer had let someone come into the house with his 2 kids who was doing work in a nearby neighborhood. Since I was home, and the man was already in my house, I proceeded to speak with him about the kind of work he does. Although I was home for the day to keep an eye on my house, I was surprised to see a stranger in my home talking to the installer. Imagine if I were to leave the installers here by themselves who else might be coming into my house other than employees of Empire!

The installer finished the installation by noon Tuesday and I called again to double check that the carpet would be installed Sat 10/13/18 as I didn't want any more surprises or excuses. They assured me that it would happen and not to worry. On Sat Morning I moved all the furniture again to the living room and waited for the installers to show up. When they showed up they took out the tape measure and informed me that one room of carpet was too long and they would have to cut it down but couldn't because it was raining outside and my garage was too small. They also told me that the second room of carpet was larger than they thought and did not have sufficient product on hand; and no product was available on Monday, but they could not get anything done until Tuesday 10/16/18.

I was so upset at this because this whole process had been such a headache. I rescheduled the carpet install for Tuesday after I get out of work, making this the 18th day into installation for flooring. The sales rep said that the process would take 2-3 days. Tuesday 10/16/18 is supposed to rain again so I am hoping they will be able to complete the work as scheduled.

I attempted to call the sales rep who sold us the flooring and also called to ask for a corporate rep to call me back and I am still waiting for a callback. One likes to give the benefit of the doubt despite, some bad reviews. The reviews turn out to be accurate. Empire Today, you are one of the largest flooring businesses in the country, everyone knows your jingle when a commercial comes on. Flooring is YOUR business, all aspects from sales, installation and delivery is supposed to be an automatic, synergistic and nearly flawless process, you do this every day. I know nothing about the flooring business, and rely on professionals to inform me about the process and timeline with the events as they will occur; this eliminates the risk of your customers packing the entire house into the bedrooms because the communication confirmed hard floor install, only to find that someone will simply drop off materials.

Alicia, I kindly ask for compensation above $250. I believe that someone dropped the ball here, but everyone one subsequently followed suit. I scheduled an appointment to get a quote on new flooring for 9-10-2018 @ 6 pm. The representative didn't get to our house until 7:45 pm and when he started to take measurements his tablet died. He did apologize for the inconvenience and rescheduled for the next day 9-11-18 @ 5 pm. The next day he didn't show up until 7 pm and said that he was there at 5 but nobody was home, which was not true. We let it go and get our estimate for the floor, signed the documents and paid the amount in full. I was told that if we schedule the installation the spot we would get the price we were quoted and paid in full, so I scheduled for 9-17-2018 @ 8 am.

On the day of the installation the installers didn't even show up until 11:30 am and showed me a bill saying that they couldn't start until I paid $600, even though I had already paid in full. I kept calling customer service trying to get it resolved but nobody was able to assist me. I paid them the $600 so they would start installing my floors and kept trying to get a hold of the person that had come to the house and gave me the quote. After multiple calls I get the billing department and they gave me the $600 back.

In the meantime the installers didn't have everything they needed to finish installing the floor so they left and said someone will call to finish the job, but couldn't tell me who or when they would come back to finish the job. Once they left I checked the floors and noticed that they had left loose nails, staples and dust from cutting the floors all over my living room and the basement.

When I went into my garage to grab a broom to clean up the mess I noticed that it was missing and the installers had taken it out of my garage. So I spent an hour going through the living room and basement cleaning up the mess they left behind, using a dustpan and small brush. I also noticed that they installers got coking all over my brick fireplace. I tried to clean that up but was unable to get it all off. I called Empire again the next day to find out when they are going to come back to finish the job and to file a complaint about the mess the installers left behind and the coking they got all over my fireplace. I told the customer service rep that I have a child and a pet and that it was unacceptable that they installers left nails and staples all over my living room. Had I not checked and cleaned up someone could have been hurt.

The rep. told me that he would have someone in my location call me to set up a time to finish the job. I heard from the local installation manager the next day and he told me that he would send someone on Saturday 9-22-18 to finish the job. He also said that he would talk to Corporate about the complaints that I had to see if they can give me some kind of refund/credit for the problems that were caused. On 9-22-18 someone did come in to finish the job and when I asked if he his manager had any new information about my complaint, he had no idea and told me to call again. I called them again and tried to get a hold of Megan the person who helped me to make sure that I get the work finished and she told me that she would also call me back to see if Corporate can do something for the inconvenience caused by Empire, but she wasn't available.

I tried calling again on 10-3-2018 to if I could get a hold of Megan or anyone located in my area and was told sorry no one is available but we will have someone call you as soon as possible. By this time I have told 4 employees with Empire about my experience with the company and I kept getting the same response that someone will be in touch with me.

A few days later I got what I thought would be a letter from Empire but it turned out to be a bill dated 10-8-18 for $600. I called the billing department to ask why I was getting a bill when I had already paid the full amount due on 9-11-18. The rep told me that he is not sure why that happened but according to their records I still had an outstanding balance. I informed the rep to look at the notes on the account and they should say that this matter was resolved on 9-17-18 and that the $600 should not have been charged and in fact was credit to back to me on the same day. The rep said that he could see the credit but no notes as to why, even though every time I talked to anyone on the phone with Empire they told me that they were making a note of the conversation. The rep told me that he would have to have a manager look at it and would have them give me a callback.

On 10-15-2018 I called the billing department again to see if they had figured out the error that they had made and I was directed to collections department manager Marguerite and she told me that she would have to look into it and call me back. I let her know that I have been dealing with Empire since September and I keep getting told that someone will call me back but nobody does and when I call I keep getting a different department in a different state and have to retell what has happened, at which point they try to get a hold of someone in the Columbus Ohio location only to never be able to get someone on the line EVER. Marguerite assured me that she would call me back on 10-18-18 and that if she didn't call me I should call her since she would be out of the office for the rest of the week.

I called her on 10-18-18 and got her voice mail and left her a message to call me before she left for the week. She did call me back and said that she had the billing error corrected and I shouldn't receive any more bills from Empire. I asked her if she also had any updates about what I was told by Megan and she informed me that she did not know about that and had done what she said she would do for me. I am upset that she said this even after I had explained to her in our earlier conversation, in detail about what I have been dealing with since I decided to go with Empire and all the mistakes that they have made. She told me she couldn't help but transferred me to the Columbus Ohio department and said that they would be able to help me. After being transferred I get the answering machine and am left with no alternative but to leave a message that will NEVER be returned.

My frustration with Empire is that I agreed to pay them $1200 upfront, had to agree that I would only get this price if I moved all the furniture myself and signed a contract that said that was what is owed and had already paid. Then I have installers show up who refuse to work unless I pay an additional $600 which I was assured at the time I signed the contract that I wouldn't have to pay. I spent hours trying to get it resolved, only to realize that the job wouldn't be done and they would get back to me on when it would be.

To make matters worse they did a CRAP job on installing and left a mess for me to clean up, and let's not forget decided they liked my broom better so they took it. I never got a callback and had to call them every time and repeat the situation over and over again because they kept telling me they were making notes on the account but never did. To add to the frustration they sent me a bill a month later saying I owed them money even though I received a call on 9-17-18 telling me that I don't because I had already paid in full.

Ordered carpet for stairs, set up installation. They called on day of installation for arrival window. No one ever showed up or called, expect to see how installation went. I told them I had been calling and leaving messages with numerous people, including my salesman, to find out why no one showed up. NEVER got a return call. After 2 days of calling I finally got through to request my deposit be refunded, and shame on me, gave them a 2nd chance to get it done. Again, same old. Called with installation window, got "follow up" call, but again. NO SHOW and NO CALL.

My son used Empire Today before, and he recommended that I go with them as well. We had them install a carpet on one of the bedrooms. The installers did a good job. They did exactly what I was thinking they would do and it looks nice. The quality of it is good and it was just what I was looking for. It's comfortable and easy to clean.

Spaces between the laminate were too big and I had trouble getting Empire out to fix the problem. When they did they created a bigger problem by pushing the planking together. Then they did not want to come fix the issue that created. Which was breaking the ends of the laminate itself. They came out again after arguing with them and Empire telling me my warranty was up. They caused the second issue. The third time out the repair was done to a quarter of my floor but the color is off from the rest of the floor and I cannot get Empire out to repair that and the spaces are showing up between the laminates. I would NEVER use them again.

The Empire Today experience is awful. The salesperson, although nice and a 20 year veteran of the company, was willfully ignorant about the product he sold and its installation process (we actually met with him twice - the second time the product and service happened to be $2000 less...). The assured one day installation took over four days and was poorly done. We've now been in talks (which is us repeatedly calling and being given the runaround) for two months now. On two occasions Empire scheduled someone to come resolve the installation issues. They never showed up, and they scheduled the original installers (who we are very certain stole from us). We are still trying get them to fix the problems with installation - uneven boards, chipped finish, cracked boards, bowing transitions, and missing quarter-round.

One star is far too generous. STAY CLEAR. The arbitration clause is binding and has essentially rendered us endowed to their will. This is only part of the problem too. Their customer service is completely inept, there are NO SUPERVISORS to speak with, and everything they do is out-sourced. Empire is a company by name only - they DO NOT DO ANYTHING on their own - everything is handed out to subcontractors which completely saves the company in arbitration. CHOOSE ANYONE ELSE. I'm in the Chicago region.

The salesman said my floor would be done in a day; they would remove my bathroom sink and dishwasher; and would put everything back. The installers could barely communicate, tore up my wall, took 2 days, were rude and messed up my bathroom sink which is now leaking badly. I had a different crew each day and they did not communicate with each other at all, so it made me have to work to get anything done. Oh, and how about the billing? They tried to make me pay twice. Day two of the install, I had to make calls and get the payment straightened out before they would even begin, wasting over an hour. At the end of the very long day, they tried to leave without putting my washer and dryer back. I have more flooring I need but refuse to work with them again. I chose them because I am from the Chicago area, where they started but am now quite disappointed.

My 78 year old mother met with the salesman and picked out a carpet for her living room on September 25, 2018. Scheduled installation on October 6, 2018. Had to reschedule installation due to an emergency. The reschedule installation was scheduled for October 6, 2018. Received an email on October 5th confirming installation for the next day. Also received a call on October 5th confirming again.

Needless to say no one showed on Oct. 6th. My mom called the company and they told her they had overbooked!!! So again she rescheduled for October 12, 2018. Received an email and call confirming installation on October 12th. And was told she was there was one installation before hers. She waited and waited and then at 5:45 pm she called. She said I want to cancel and then was transferred to another person to convince her to install. She canceled. My mom spent two days waiting for the carpet! Empire should be ashamed of taken advantage of the elderly like that! We will not be recommending your service ever again.

I was looking for a flooring that wears and something that would be comfortable to walk on. I've seen Empire around as I've worked in a construction business and I also heard comments from people. I had them put linoleum in the kitchen and carpet in the bedroom and the installation went well. The threshold with the kitchen backdoor has come loose though and I was getting ready to call them. Nevertheless, Empire did a great job overall. I was surprised with the many turns and cabinets in the kitchen and the way they were sitting there. The crew was able to put it down in one piece without cutting it.

I have been trying to get Empire here for an estimate for over a month now. At first they kept calling and cancelling the appointment we made and rescheduling. We finally got a firm confirmation for an appoint after rescheduling 3 times. An email and phone call were received confirming our appointment and time frame. We anxiously waited all day. No one showed up, called or emailed us. So I gave them one more shot and made an appointment online this time. Again, a confirmation was given for today between 1 and 3 pm. No one showed up again! I did get a call to reschedule but after over a month of waiting for an estimate I lost all faith in this company and did not reschedule. Apparently Empire does not value our business.

I am the property manager for a luxury rental property in Baltimore. When the representative met me at the house, his first words were "are you the decision maker and will you be making the final decision today". I informed him that I was the property manager representing the owner and that I am the decision maker but I may not be making the final decision today. Final decision would be based on their estimate. Upon hearing that, he told me he was going to his car for carpet samples and never came back. As I am waiting for him to return, customer service calls me and states the representative that met with me told them I wanted to reschedule. So I explained that was not true and that I was waiting for him to return with carpet samples. Customer service said he would call the representative back and I never heard from either of them.

After about 20 minutes I called back and was told that the owner of the property must be present for them to give an estimate. I explained that the owner of the property has hired my property management company to handle all matters concerning the property and we have a contract in place with owner to make all decisions. Apparently, they did not want the business if the owner could not be present. I thought it was very rude and very unprofessional to be treated this way and to waste my time waiting for his return when he actually left.

My goal was to get a few estimates before making the final decision but my next appt that day was with Luna and the representative from Luna was wonderful and I ended up signing a contract with them that day. The Empire rep was not interested unless I was going to sign a contract but if he would have not been so rude and left I very well may have signed with him. This is Empire's loss and Luna's gain because my management company manages over 50 properties in the Baltimore area and this could have been a good working relationship. I will make sure all our business contacts are aware of the service we received from Empire.

It looks very good and the quality is very good but it is expensive as it was $2,099. The installation team was on time and they cleaned up everything very well. I had the furniture moved out before they came and so they took about 2 hours to do the installation. After installation, the flooring is perfect and it looks really elegant.

A little over a year after installation, I have about 12 spots that the carpet is buckling so I called for a stretch and was told it was a 1-year warranty. That was never mentioned by the salesman. They refuse to honor what I was told and it feels very much to me like a bait and switch. Clearly it should not be buckling this much after 1 year with very little use. The supervisor wouldn't even speak with me. Very unprofessional.

Made an appointment for a Friday evening, 5-7pm window. We left work early to make sure we were home by 5. At 6:30, we get a call from the salesman - he says he can't get to us that night, they were behind schedule. Told him that's ok, we would look elsewhere. A few minutes later, a sales "manager" calls and says he will come himself, around 8:30. At 8:45, he calls and says he was in a car accident and couldn't make it. Sent us a picture of what looks like a deployed airbag as "proof", lol. Hate dealing with companies that can't meet their commitments. Stop trying to front-load your schedules, and deliver on what you say you can do.

The first day I was stepping on nails and they sent one guy out that week to correct that problem. Over time I noticed bunching of the carpet in several areas and then in all carpeted areas. I have reached out to customer service and have sent picture and videos and have since had to have a carpet expert come out and re-install the carpet. I have submitted emails and have not received a response back to date.

After two weeks of phone calls and threats they sent the SAME crew to fix it. Of course they could not see anything wrong. They also took a very large remnant with them. No one seems to know where it is. Now no one will call back even though the carpet is under warranty.

I used Empire Today’s services before and I was very satisfied with it so I called them again. I had laminated floors put down in the entire bottom floor of my home and in the living room because it is quite big. The laminate blended in with my furnishings and my steps going to the upper part of the house. I also like the way that they trimmed the flooring around the chimney in the living room area. I’m overjoyed about the new flooring because I had carpet first and I got tired of cleaning it. The workers were cordial and they did the work at a timely pace. They came early so they finished early which made it wonderful. One of my girlfriends came over and saw my floors. She said it changed the house altogether so it was a good investment.
