This has been a nightmare! Paying 12K for 2 living rooms, kitchen, half bath & 2 small hallways. 1st install was 1-29-19. All old floors were supposed to be removed. Paid extra for it. Kitchen floor was not removed. Because of that, floor transition to living room was slanted. Installers left without toilet hooked up and told us we were going to have to hire a plumber. After telling them Empire promised us a functioning toilet, they said ok they would take care of it. A WEEK later we finally hear from a plumber. We were also left with multiple chips in the quarter round, a gap in a corner between the floor and quarter round, quarter round blocking a heat vent and no caulking done between floors and outside doors. Just to name a few problems. Sloppy job that wasn't completely finished.
Empire sends an inspector on 2-4-19 over our concerns. Finally on FR, 2-22-19 2nd installer comes. They sent one guy and he told me they budgeted 4-5 hours for repairs. He was here all day FR, Sat and Sun! Kitchen floor and half bath had to be completely replaced. Since we had to have a 2nd install we decided to add new baseboards for an additional $300 charge. No offers for discounts after what we had already been through. Disappointing. End of Sun, installer asked for our Empire card to add the extra charge.
Next day installer calls (at 7:30am!) saying he couldn't add the charge to the card and I needed to call Empire. Told him I would. No answer at Empire so had to leave a message. Waiting for call back, installer called again in afternoon and following morning (at 7:17am)! After only 2 days I get a text at 7am (3 days after his install) saying that he is reporting me to collections. Ridiculous! I even gave this installer 2 lunches and 1 dinner while he was here over the weekend. And this is how he treats me? I wasn't trying to get out of paying. I was playing phone tag with the Empire financing dept.
So now today I'm waiting for a 3rd installer to address the rest of my floor problems of uneven vinyl planks. Was told they would be here in the morning and it is now 12:30pm. Yesterday we got a call that Empire processed the remaining balance on their credit card. We aren't supposed to be charged until the job is done. At this point I'm ready to tell them to take all their floors back and go somewhere else. I'm so frustrated! This family of 4 has been living out of boxes and eating take out for about 5 weeks now.
Heidi, this is not the experience that we wish for our customers, and we sincerely apologize for your experience. We'll be in touch with you shortly to discuss your concerns and start working on a resolution.

The color of the carpet that I had in here was too light and it stayed dirty all the time. So, I wanted something a little darker that I don't have to clean all the time. I'm really satisfied with the carpet installed by Empire Today in the whole house. I was gonna go somewhere else, but my brother had used Empire and he told me about it. I love Empire. They were really nice and friendly, and went on and did their job. It didn't take them time to get through with it. They came about 9:00 and they took up the old carpet and the padding, and they were out of here at about 1:00. They were really good.

Empire Today did a very good job and I would highly recommend them. We had one big living room and an inside porch, and they did quite a bit of floors. They did it in one day. It has been three weeks since they did the project and their quality of work was very well. Those fellows did a very good job and we were very pleased.

Empire today put in carpet in all rooms for this rental property. The carpet is well-constructed and its installation was very professionally done. I liked the workers. They did an excellent job and it was finished in about half a day. All in all, it was a good buy.

So my situation is a bit lengthy - but please read all - so as to get the whole picture. A pipe had broke behind a wall and ran dirty, rusty water into our family room in the basement and ruined the carpet. On Monday, 2/25/19 I put on the computer that I was needing an estimate for the removal, prepping, carpet, and laying/installing carpet due to the ruined carpet in my basement. EMPIRE was the first to respond to my distress call. At that point I was impressed with EMPIRE's response time and availability to get to me soon. We set up online for Wed. 2/27/19 between 1 - 3 pm for them to be at my house to measure with a free estimate of the job.
Tuesday evening - a real-live person phoned me - so they did have my number - this was Tuesday 2/26 9 pm, to verify and confirm my appt for Wed. 2/27 between 1 and 3 pm. They should have that contact and visit on a recording! At that time - I then phoned the house owners - that same night 2/26, and they agreed to drive the 2 hours in order to be present for the estimate from EMPIRE, as EMPIRE had suggested all participating parties should be present. We waited and waited the full 2 hours! NO CALL - NO MESSAGE - NO E-MAIL from EMPIRE!
At 3 pm on Wed., I phoned EMPIRE at the number they had given me just the evening prior = 866-512-5474 asking if they got lost or what - ??? I was told "Sorry - we don't have anybody available to come to you today". "Sorry, we tried to call you". What the HECK??? NO missed call, NO message left, NO E-mail!!! I had verbal confirmation, and in return received no call, no message, no email to inform me of this! I see this as TOTALLY unprofessional as well as inexcusable actions from this company. When I called, Daniel did transfer me to a floor supervisor - Adam. He again said "Sorry" and that they could give me a $100 rebate for the estimate - WHICH WAS FREE to begin with.
Good grief - no respect for a company that does not follow through with their confirmations of appointments, as well as lack of consideration for others. EMPIRE, please do not respond to inquiries, and then confirm appointments that you are NOT able to keep. Selecting ZERO stars was not an option - but should be! Sadly Disappointed in EMPIRE.

I have missed three days of work and the job should have been completed over the weekend. I am beyond ANGRY. Empire needs more reliable contractors. Will look elsewhere for future contractors.

We saw Empire Today being advertised on TV and all at once, we decided we were gonna have new carpeting stuff put in. Empire's sales rep was okay, but to me and my husband, we really didn't need a middleman, which was her. There were not that many flooring options and she didn't have that many samples at all. The guy that would lay the materials should be the one that comes out and measures.
Nevertheless, we have laminate flooring and three rooms of carpeting installed. I like the carpeting because I don't have to sweep it every day. I don't like it when I can see the footprints every time I walk on the carpet. But with the carpet from Empire, I don't see the footprints and I like that. I also love my laminate flooring. My room is big, but the laminate flooring makes the room look so much bigger. The laminate guys did a random laminate, but for the finish-up job and for the little trim around it, they could have more experience. But the carpet guys were great and did a fantastic job. Empire Today is a good company and the entire experience with them was fine.
Beverely, customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we're thrilled to hear that we made beautiful new floors easy for you! Thank you for sharing.

The sales representative from Empire Today was wonderful. He was a really nice, young man. We got laminate flooring, as well as ceramic for the bathrooms, and we bought those at the house. We called Empire Today and they came out and brought us samples. The only problem we had was with the stone fireplace in the living room. When they tried to put the wood laminate down and around the fireplace, it left gaps. I wondered why they couldn’t just put some self-leveling putty to make it look right but they couldn’t.
They told us that they would put molding around it that matched the floor. However, they didn’t come back like they were supposed to. It took us three months to get them out here and when they showed up, they had white. We said it was gonna look awful. So it took us about six months to get the molding around the fireplace. It was the follow-up that was the problem. But the people who put the flooring in were absolutely wonderful and we love the floor. We had no problems there.

My husband and I decided to get laminate wood flooring from Empire Today. The sales rep who helped us was great. The one who installed it was really good too. And I love the way he left it. I like the oak color of the flooring because I had linoleum and the color was dark. Everything’s great about our Empire Today flooring and we're happy with it.

I have been replacing all the flooring in my home a few rooms at a time and have been using Empire for the majority of it. No longer. Many people I’m friends with have been asking me how I felt about them because they are also replacing flooring... My response is, "Do yourself a favor and go to Lowe's or Home Depot." I’m kind of forced to complete this install so the carpet matches but my hardwood replacement will not be done by Empire. I’ve had issues in the past but they made good on it so I thought they would this time around. Well not the case. I waited around all day. They finally came out at 3:30 pm. Had me verify the carpet which was the right color but they clearly didn’t have enough product with them. They remeasured the space and said they didn’t even have enough carpet for one room and would need to reschedule. Well ok.
I called customer service to reschedule and told them. Now I need to take an additional day off of work and feel like they should compensate me for my time and loss of income by way of a discount of some sort which I feel is reasonable. First they lied and said the salesmen measured incorrectly. Then they said the Atlanta distribution center didn’t send enough carpet and that material shortage was not a warranted issue as far as they are concerned. This is not a shortage. It’s negligence on their end for not loading enough carpet to begin with. Because if it were a shortage they would have known that ahead of time and called to reschedule the installation and not shown up at my house. So all they want to do is try to cover up their mistakes by creating excuses and pushing the blame. I have worked in flooring before and am well aware of how this works. So thank you for wasting my time and causing me to lose a second day of income Empire!

I purchased 318 square feet of carpet that cost me almost $2,000.00. Yep, you heard me right. 318 at sq. ft. for $2k. Empire said the carpet was defective. I had to have the first carpet removed because it was "corn rolling" after only 18 months. Keep in mind, I live alone and don't get a lot of traffic. After the second install...guess what, carpet is matted again, corn rolled, again. Of course I have to pay to get it cleaned before Empire will look at it...because you know that will make a difference with the defective carpet. I want my money back. I don't ever want to deal with Empire again. I am not sure what recourse I have, but I will say this, I would love to have a jury of my peers see and hear my documentation on this matter.

I like that Empire Today did a good job. They were quick, and got out of the way. I’m satisfied with their service. But in certain places, the carpet is coming out from the wall. The carpet technician did not seal it to the wall. It was not connected. He messed up a little bit of the carpet when he used the kicker to get a tighter carpet. When they put the carpet down, they dent my carpet. I took a whole picture of it, and I still got the old picture for when they did it. But nobody came out or did anything. I told Empire about all of these and they said they would have somebody close to come out, but nobody came. It’s been over a month now. I'm not so satisfied with how they put down the carpet.

My installation is complete, I have the following feedback though that I want on record. 1. Brand new paint on railings was chipped and deep scratches put into my new handrails. 2. NUMEROUS marks on walls even above trim on freshly painted walls. 3. Installers had dirty hands and left black marks all over the doors the put back on hinges following the install. 4. The bed I had PAID to have moved for the install was sloppily put back into place and then banged into the wall, again a freshly painted wall, showing complete lack of care. 5. Carpet mess from their cuts in my garage was left all over my driveway and garage floor, they were working less than 15 feet from a dumpster I had rented for this job and couldn't take the time to clean well. 6. When I attempted to communicate with the lead installer he was nonchalant and arrogant regarding why my walls had to be destroyed stating it was 'so he did not have to cut seams'.
Overall I am VERY disappointed with the whole experience. I will NEVER use Empire again and if I were staying in this house I would make you come back and pull all of this out and go with any other company. The installers certainly did not live up to the reputation you guys have out there. I hope this type of thing never happens again to a customer, I hope you address the above as a company and make sure you guys start using much more qualified, careful professional installers.

This company is the absolute worst. If you have a job needing to be done; they send an estimator out to you, who is just a salesman (a bad one at that) and they show you samples. We already knew what we needed, so we picked out the laminate for the stairs which was replacing the carpet on the stairs. The install date was set. The installers come on the date and 5 hours into the install after the previous carpet; padding, and everything was pulled up and taken off - they call and say they have to come back because they have the wrong parts. They come back the next day; work a little bit, then realize the laminate we picked out won't fit.
So finally they were supposed to send a new salesman and installer at the same time today - to finally settle the issue and job and they were a no show. A regional manager called. I asked him how they plan on fixing this. They said they would give me a refund (since I was tricked into paying in full before the job started). No discount was offered. No way of putting the stairs back to how they were before they took off the carpet and threw it away. And no other customer service at all was provided. This is how the job was finished.
Andrew, thank you for making us aware of your concerns. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we'll be in touch with you shortly.

We recently had our carpet installed and a window treatment done in our family room by Empire Today. We considered other flooring brands, but Empire had the best deal. We have two dogs and a small child, so we wanted a plush carpet that was stain-resistant but without the PET chemical on it. Empire had one that was of a quality that my husband liked. Empire had someone come out to walk us through the process and show us exactly what would happen. We scheduled the appointment and the installers came. They were there for a couple of hours for the carpet installation, then left in an hour for the window treatment. The work was done exactly according to our liking. The best part about the experience was that it was very convenient. Everything went smoothly and we didn’t have any hiccups.

I had Empire Today install carpet in our living room, hallway, and the bedroom. I saw a commercial and it said 50% off each room but I don’t think I got that discount. And on my floor between my living room and my kitchen area, there should’ve been a piece of metal that goes across the floor. The carpet is just laying on the floor where eventually, it’s gonna tear right there because it doesn’t have that piece of metal. They didn’t put that piece of metal across there. Other than than, I like that my flooring is new. And the installation team was efficient.

My husband and I made an appointment for a sales representative to come out and give us an estimate for new floors throughout our entire home. The appointment window was from 11-1 which would’ve been perfect because we had somewhere to be at 3 pm. By 12:30 with no phone call from anyone with at least an estimated ETA I called to check. The representative on the phone said she couldn’t get a hold of the salesperson on the phone but she put out a page for him to call me as soon as possible. By 1:30 with no phone call, no show. I call again. The representative on the phone again tried to call the salesperson with again no answer. She says we can reschedule but in my eyes if this is any indication of how they do business I’d rather not. Empire today installed wooden planks in my living room, hallway and bedroom. They left the doorway in a mess though. Whenever they pulled up the edges going at the end of the door to put the wood, they just set it down in there. They didn't fasten it back down and now it just slides everywhere. I’ve already called them two weeks ago and they were gonna put in a work order but nobody has been out here since. I got carpet installed in the living room and a little bit in the hallway. It was $1,400 and the quality of the carpet is my favorite. It is what I paid for. The installation went good, and the guys were courteous. Overall, the quality of workmanship was excellent, except for one area. The new carpet met up with another carpet in another room. It’s a little jagged and it’s like it wasn’t a straight cut. So, they need to come out again and straighten it out. I called them about it and they told me that they would get right back with me. But that has been more than two weeks ago.
If Empire Today was a local company, they would be on top of it. But since they're from out of town, they're a little less safe. It was just a very simple thing that needed to be done, and they failed to do that. I think they were really in a hurry to get out. It didn't make sense that they did a good job everywhere else except for one area.

In May my husband and I spent close to $5000 having flooring put in our living room, dining room and bedroom. Within a couple of months I noticed a "bubbled" spot in the living room and a spot in the bedroom that looked like something was breaking through from underneath. I called Empire, someone was sent out, I was told the bubbled area would not be replaced because it was water damage. I have grandchildren, a sippy cup was in that area, it must have leaked, but, really THAT messed up a brand new floor.
The other area was not going to be a problem, a tack had been floored over. When the installer came out to make the repair I told him if the so called "water damaged" area got that way from a sippy cup that was overlooked for several hours, he could pull the whole damn floor up and take it with him if it was made that cheaply. Both areas were repaired, BUT in order to do so, my baseboard had to be pulled off and Empire doesn't fix that!!
NOW, I have another spot that I'm pretty sure they won't cover because it's where the dog dish got splashed over and sat for several hours. We are remodeling and the area is just where it had to go at the time. This flooring is so CHEAP. It seems to be made out of cardboard! Yes, we fell for the half off sale, but we THOUGHT Empire was a reputable company. NOPE!! Do yourself a favor a favor, go to Lowe's, pick out some Pergo flooring and have them install it. It is a MUCH BETTER product and the service is awesome.

Dishonest, pressuring and condescending. We found Empire Today through Angie's List, and asked them to come over to offer a quote for a bathroom flooring replacement project we had. They took a week longer than the other 2 contractors to come by (and they had to reschedule after we made the first appointment), but eventually the sales rep came over to look at the bathroom and give an estimate.
While he was looking at the bathroom, he started asking about every possible extra thing that could be replaced, including the things we told him were fine. He kept insisting that our under-flooring needed to be replaced despite the professional water damage service company who looked at it (as well as all the other contractors who looked at it) saying otherwise. Whenever I told him I wanted to do my own research about whether the under-flooring needs to be replaced, he played it down and tried to pressure me into it and make fun of every other company that told me otherwise (including those who had no stake in the flooring repair).
Eventually, he gave us a quote that he ensured us was "about $800 higher than it could be just to account for replacing the under-flooring, which the other contractors are ignoring, but he'd be happy to give back if it turns out it's not needed". I asked him for a break-down of the costs and he said he doesn't have one, only a cost for the whole project. I then asked him how much the project would cost without the under-flooring replacement, and Lo and Behold, he finds that breakdown that I had asked for, and it shows the under-flooring costs $250 (not $800 as previously mentioned). This made his quote more expensive than the others I had received.
When I mentioned that, he started asking a long line of bombarding questions about what I knew about the other contractors, how they're probably gonna cause me problems later on and are under-bidding on this contract, and how they're the only company in the US who offers a warranty on their services. Whenever he asked me a question like "are they insured?" and I answered yes, he would look at me in a condescending way and ask "are you sure about that? better double-check that".
By the end of the appointment, I could not wait until he got out of my house. He was being outright disrespectful and condescending, and it was clear by that point that he wasn't being honest about his pricing. He left me an Empire Today paper with their quote (just a single number estimate, including under-flooring work) without any itemized lines. Even if his quote wasn't more expensive than the others, I am quite confident that I don't want any business dealings with such a company.

I called 12 times in 2 days and all that happened was I was transferred to another department and couldn’t leave a message because the mailbox was full. I had no help from anyone and when I called to cancel, they tried to transfer me yet again. After I canceled the $5,000 order, they showed up anyway. I have never been so aggravated and disappointed with a flooring company. When they came to install my vinyl floor, I was told it was going to be $1500 more. I recently placed a call to Empire Today on my mother’s behalf to get an estimate on having repair work done on the wood floors. My parents had the floor installed throughout most of the house by Empire about eight months ago. There has since been a toilet leak which seeped under the wall from the bathroom into the master bedroom and caused water damage to a few of the flooring panels. I explained this situation to the Empire representative. She told me that they still have that particular flooring in stock and the damaged area could be repaired. She quoted me a price of $2,600 to replace the bedroom flooring and some of the flooring in the hall leading out of the bedroom.
I said that really the entire bedroom floor did not need to be replaced because only a part was damaged and she informed me that their estimator would take a measurement and the cost could be less if not as much needed to be replaced. Either way I felt okay with the $2,600 quote and planned to have Empire do the work. I explained to the Empire representative that my mother is elderly and not fully aware of things. I am calling on her behalf and can they please call me back with the final price estimate. She said, "Certainly we can do that" and she took my name and phone number.
A few weeks later I give my mom a call just to see how she is doing that day. She says everything is good and that the flooring people were there replacing the floor. I was very surprised because I had heard nothing from them. She told me they gave her a new estimate of $6,349 the day before and arrived that morning to start the work. They replaced less than 200 SF of flooring, tore molding off the wall and did not put back. I called Empire and couldn’t get through to anyone that could help. They said, "We will leave a message for this person or that person to call you back" and they did not.
Finally, Jessica the manager of the Charlotte office called. I started to explain to Jessica what had happened and she cut me right off. She said, "I know what is going on. Your mother signed a new estimate which voided the one you were given." I again tried to explain and she rudely cut me off with saying the same thing over and over; my mother signed the estimate. The phone call ended with Jessica hanging up on me. My mother is 75 years old, lost her husband about three months ago, and is fighting cancer with weekly cancer treatments. I feel that Empire Today took advantage of a vulnerable elderly person. No one in their right mind would have paid that amount for the small amount of flooring repair. I think they saw that she was not in her right mind and took the opportunity to cash in.
Christopher, we sincerely regret to hear about your mother's experience. We understand your frustration, and we'll be in touch with her shortly to discuss your concerns.

I have rental properties. One in particular had original vinyl roll flooring in bathroom from manufacturer. It was damaged by cigarette burns from a renter. Although it was Nearly 20 yrs old it looked great and held up well to water, and normal wear. Empire was running a special so I decided to try them. Customer service and sales were great but none of the promotions applied to vinyl flooring. Sales rep tried to get me to upgrade to more expensive flooring to get promotion. I explained it was a bathroom rental therefore crazy to put tiles with seams, and laminate styles due to water in bathroom.
I expressed I would need solid sheet of vinyl to avoid water getting underneath and between cracks. After paying nearly as much for inexpensive vinyl roll as I would have a much nicer less practical flooring it was installed. Fast efficient and beautiful. Was so pleased and rented trailer a couple months later. After about 8 months renters gave notice and moved. I went to clean property noticed all the silicone trim around tub was cracked and pulling loose. I also noticed floor has extensive water damage and glue peeling up. Not only has the toilet been leaking underneath floor since install, but there is a one inch seam right up against wall peeling up all the from the tub to behind the toilet. Floor was installed one year ago. Install job was so neat and clean I did not even know they had seamed where most water would be getting out of tub and behind toilet. So because of the warranty "I was told" about upon purchase.
I called last week. Today I got a return call. I was informed the inspect fee is one hundred dollars just to come look at the glue peeling up, leaky toilet, and floor damage from water getting under it. She also informed me that "WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO RENTALS?!?!" REALLY?? she has basically stated that if any repairs are needed it will cost me, before even seeing the installation error or knowing what caused problem just assumed abuse from renters. I did inspections once monthly renters were not to blame for water getting thru seams or the slow toilet leaking beneath floor. Tomorrow I will see what they say, and add photos but if repairs needed or new flooring is necessary. EMPIRE WILL NOT BE DOING IT!!!

I purchased carpet from Empire Today 2,600. About a week I looked at my carpet it was discoloring. I called Empire. They gave me the runaround then finally someone called me name Roy. He told me that I have to pay for the carpet because I bleached my carpet which is a lie. It’s 3 spots. I just saw 1 but the installer saw 3 more. I have a warranty but I have to pay to get it fix after they got 2,600 from me. I called the installer. He lied 3 times to come fix it but no show. I called him again. He hung up in my face. This company lies just to get your money then afterwards you on your own. The salesman full of it also. His name is Jerry. He told me to lie to them. I’m not going to lie. I’m telling them the truth. Original review: Terrible experience with Empire. They had to come to the house three times and I had to have 15 phone conversations in order to get a small area of my basement carpeted. Customer service is a joke. They just blow you off and don’t do anything. Workers did not clean up area properly after work was done. This is the worse company I have had to do business with. I too am having problems with our floor! We had Laminate floors installed by Empire Today in Wa. 5 months after we noticed flexing in the wood and the seams swelling. They came out to try and fix the problem. Then we noticed it was starting to happen all over our floors. We called again and this time they said it was something we did to the floors. That we must have done something that caused moisture damage to the floors. Mind you... I haven’t even mopped my floors yet! I have a dry swifter that I use and being that my floors were brand new... If something splashed or dripped on the floor I would use a sponge or paper towel to wipe it up immediately!
We have gone back and forth several times with customer service... They finally decided not to fix the whole floor but just the really bad spots. When they sent their installer out to fix the floor...we took pictures and had a friend of ours that also laid floors and saw that they did not seal the underlayment/ vapor barrier and it was already moving creating gaps! I have looked up every laminate floor installers websites for instructions on how to install laminate flooring properly and they all say to tape and seal the underlayment. I believe this is why we are having swelling problems, the flexing in the floor I believe is from installing the floor too tight. Not enough room to expand and move! We have had several other people out to look at the flooring and all of them have said it wasn’t installed properly!!!
Now the installation warranty is only good for one year. The 30 year moisture warranty is a joke because they just say “you must have done something to it, that we don’t cover”! $4,500.00 on a brand new floor... 7 months later having several major problems. Look on the website Consumer Affairs, Empire Today! Several complaints for this horrible company!!! We are now getting ready to sue. Thank God we took several pictures before the install and after!!!

The flooring was installed in early December and ** month later we discovered the leak. The installer who removed the toilet to put in the flooring didn't put in the wax toilet ring which caused the leak. It is now February and this is yet to be resolved or fixed. They keep promising me they'll get back to me but every day I have to call and get no answer to this mess. Their "supposed" manager, her name I was told is Tracy, is never in the office or never available. I have a hole in my ceiling and water and moisture in my walls. They don't seem to think this is a priority to have fixed. Mold starts to produce in 100 days so I would think this would be an urgent matter to most Companies. Although this company has been around for years, their SD install dept violates all principles of basic business courtesy. Derek, the coordinator and Christine, the office manager DO NOT return calls but rather INSULATE themselves in their little dens when an alleged slab moisture problem needs to be addressed, as was the case for me. The LV Plank installers lead by Derek failed to complete the contracted job and even stood me up for my appt. for an entire day because I would not submit to a special $350 concrete coating to a 150 sq ft entryway (it had ceramic tile over it for 21 yrs). 2 and 1/2 months and 15 plus unanswered calls and messages later, I finally caved and finished the job with another company. Bought sweet escape/coastal breeze last March. I mainly bought the carpet because of the 10-Year warranty with the R2X soil and stain resistance system (helps keep liquids from seeping deep into the fibers). The sales person that came to my house said that 'pee' accidents would be covered. Last week my dog had 2 accidents in the bedroom. There was clearly visible stains, tried the vinegar/water solution as suggested under the warranty. The urine 'stain' is gone but the smell is horrible. I called Empire Today and was told to get my carpet professionally cleaned and if the stain is still there she would contact the manufacture.
As I said, the stain is gone but the smell... Well, scroll down to the 'stain' page of the warranty and you get ' EXCLUSIONS - This warranty excludes any urine stain other than pet. Pet feces and vomit are excluded. Odor resulting from the covered pet stain is Excluded! My questions is why tell a customer that 'pee' is covered but conveniently leave out the part about the odor. Where is the 'resistance' on the carpet. Seems that this is far from the truth. I am a very unsatisfied customer, warranty is a joke and clearly was not told the truth. I will not be recommending to anyone else as well.

We chose Empire to install new flooring in our home. Installers came to our home whom where obviously a 3rd party contractor. The job was to be completed in one day, however due to the fact that they forgot a "tool" it became a two day job. Floors looked nice when completed. However, the installers trimmed my closet and bedroom doors to make the carpet fit under doors. The cuts are uneven and the newly painted doors were left with black fingerprints.
The installers when the job was complete requested payment. However, the payment amount was incorrect because our job was broken into two install dates (part of the house is under construction and cannot be floored until complete). I told the installers that I would pay the balance directly to Empire once the amount due was corrected. The installer texted me directly and called me directly demanding HE get paid because Empire would not give him another job without my job being "closed." I was in contact with Empire and was only going to provide my credit card information to them when the amount was corrected. For two days I was harassed by the installer. The installer text me over 20 times and made several phone calls to my personal cell phone. As promised, when the balance was corrected, Empire was paid in full for the floors that had been completed.
I called Empire to file a complaint about the third party installers. I also requested that Empire provide me with proof of insurance for the company they hired to install their product. I was told after speaking to four different people that "upper management" could take up to five business days to return my call and review complaint. After 1 week and no follow up I reached out to my sales representative who promised me to "always be there for his customers." Well... it is now two weeks later and after two more attempts to get him on the phone, I've got nothing.
So today, I made ANOTHER call to Empire. Got the same runaround and was told that an email was sent to "upper management," hopefully, someone will get back to me today. End result will be the following: I WANT PROOF OF INSURANCE and LICENSE of the installer of my flooring or I will dispute the credit card charges and demand a refund on my floors. I am cancelling the second order of flooring scheduled to be installed at the end of this month. Hopefully our second install through another company will have a better end result.

About 10 years ago, I selected Empire to install all new carpet in 3 bedrooms. I had no problems and never had any complaints. A little over a year ago, I decided to have new floors installed. When we met with the salesman, he recommended the vinyl flooring, which came with a lifetime guarantee. Compared to wood flooring, it wouldn’t be easily damaged with kids and pets. We were also told the floors are easy to clean and do not hold bacteria or mold.
Well, within the year we had two noticeable scratches on the floor. One was a huge gapping scratch on the floor. In another room, there was a smaller scratch, but still noticeable damage. We do not have any clue how it happened other than something was possibly dropped. We don’t have a lot of traffic in the house, all the furniture has pads underneath, the dog we have is older and well groomed, and we do not have any small children. I was now feeling like my purchase was not a good choice after we were told it was far more durable and guaranteed. We contacted Empire and they replaced the pieces of floor which were scratched. No problem, and we were still within our 1 year warranty.
Then, a couple months later, all four transitional pieces that separate the tile to the floor became unglued. No broken pieces, just came off. We could have very well bought the glue and done it ourselves, but not when the product was guaranteed, it was only over a year we had them installed, and we paid a high price for these floors.
I contacted Empire in December 2018. Of course when you call you can’t make an appointment right away. They take the message, then you have to wait until someone calls you back. No one called me back after a few days. I called them back and they of course apologized and put in the request again. Someone called me back and we scheduled an earlier Jan date. Nobody showed up. I called back and went through that painful process again, to be told I would be placed on a “priority” schedule.
We set an appointment for Jan 15th. I got a call saying the part was not in. I told them there are no parts needed, it’s just glue. They said they were unaware and they had already cancelled my appointment and would have to reschedule. The individual I spoke to was extremely condescending and robotic, absolutely no empathy for so much back and forth I had been experiencing. He scheduled me the next day. I work nights and told him that day would not work because if it was not early, I would be sleeping. The next day someone called and I missed the call. I left two messages on a number I had a direct extension to. No calls back. I then had to go through customer service again and file another request. Someone contacted me back and every time I call I have to leave a message.
I finally left a message for the days I am available and to just send someone. I got a message back saying it was scheduled for February 7th. I got an automated call saying someone would be coming and the service tech would be contacting me. Once again, there was a no-show. All day, again, someone was home waiting. No one called me back, no one followed up. I called again to a direct extension I have and no answer. I left a message this morning. I have never experienced such horrible service. The process is terrible. The follow up is terrible. The communication is terrible. Considering it's only been a year with these floors and I’ve had these many problems, I’m better off learning to do everything myself and not have to deal with companies and contractors.

The installers arrived and were very friendly, but immediately wanted to be paid before one inch of carpeting was installed. They tore out all the old carpeting, they then told me that they didn't have enough carpeting to do the job, leaving my house for a weekend with no carpeting. I was told they would be back the next day to finish the job, but this did not happen. I was called and told the carpeting I picked out was no more available in the same lot number, and when they come back out to my house they would either have to tear out the steps that had already be done, or put carpeting that was close to the same color in my family room. Empire said that they would be back out on Tuesday, making it 5 days of turmoil in my house. This has been a nightmare, and one I wouldn't want for anyone. I purchased Golden Teak Acacia floors about 4 months ago. I do not have pets, use felt pads and take my shoes off at the door. Parts of my floor are now showing white smudge marks. The aluminum oxide coating is wearing off even without scratches. Also, I measured the left-overs that the installers left behind. The wear layer is only .07 mm not 2.0 mm. I chose the product because it had a 25/50 year warranty and 2.0 mm that would allow for one refinishing a decade from now. I doubt my $10,000 purchase will last 5 years. I made a call to customer service and they said someone will call me within 2 days. I will update my review after I receive a response.

I will never do business with this company again. Neither will my family or friends. I am a customer that purchased flooring before this same year. I called for a quote for another room. I specifically told the salesperson they sent out that all I wanted was a quote, Not a commitment. I informed of my desire to get other quotes then make a decision. I was informed it was ok to pay 50 dollars for the quote, get the other quotes and if I decided to go with another company they would refund the 50.00. Yet, when I called to cancel I was told I would lose my deposit. That I had only 3 days to cancel. HOW CAN I GET MORE QUOTES IN THREE DAYS? Impossible. This was false information. Also, the customer service I received on the phone was rude, and disrespectful. I might have lost 50.00 dollars but this company will lose our business and much more. A sales rep came to my house and I decided on the floor that I wanted. It was a Gray vinyl plank flooring, being installed over the old hardwood floors. The sales rep promised that because the square footage was so small (approx 800 sq ft), the job could be done in one day. This evidently was not something that she could promise, so I found out later. The company that Empire today hired to originally install my floors tried to tell me when they could come out and do it instead of working to my convenience. At the time I was working, so Saturdays were the only day available to me. So the floors get installed, in August 2018. A few weeks later I had to have them come out again because a pebble got left underneath one of the vinyl planks and was starting to mar the surface from walking on it. Skip forward to December and I notice that the seams are separating in every Room in my house.
I waited until after the holidays to call because I knew the holidays were a prime time for people having new floors installed. An 'inspection' was done on my floors to check for moisture and whatnot, all was good. It was decided that my entire house had to be re floored because the original installers beat the click-and-lock planks together with a mallet and broke off a lot of the lips that hold the planks together. All the floors had to be removed and laid again. I was hugely inconvenienced in having to have my house totally torn apart all day, dogs locked outside, cat locked in a small bathroom, and most of my household furniture sitting in my kitchen and dining Room.
I called Empire and explained my inconvenience to them and they offered me a compensation of $25! I paid approx $6000 and They basically said that all the compensation that I should be getting is the fact that my floors were redone. My suggestion to them was that they should have hired installers that knew how to put it in right the 1st time! As far as I'm concerned, very poor customer service and I will never use Empire again.
As for the warranty on the floors, the floors are supposed to be warranted for 25 years. However, it's NOT ACTUALLY THE FLOORS that are being warranted. The warranty is non transferable, so they are warranting the person that purchases the floors. THE WARRANTY ONLY STAYS IN EFFECT AS LONG AS THE PERSON OWNS THE HOUSE. So, if you are buying the floors in an effort to sell your house, the warranty will be void once you sell the house. I do like the vinyl plank flooring, but will purchase from any other company besides Empire in the future.

Back in August of 2017 we had carpeting installed in our family room and up the stairs. Although the sales experience and installation went very well, we are finding that even though there are only two of us in the household and the fact we never wear shoes in the house, the carpet seems to be wearing rapidly. In two places (one that was seamed and one that was not), the carpet is bubbling up. I called customer service and they tell me that they only cover the warranty for the first year and that the carpet manufacturer would need to cover the balance of the warranty AND in order for Empire to fix the problem (without seeing it they suggested that they re-stretch the carpet at a cost of $295.00).
I requested they send someone out to see for themselves. They now are telling me that in order to send someone out it will cost me $95.00. This is completely unacceptable. At this point, I am a very unhappy customer and unless this can be resolved I will make sure to let everyone know not to do business with this company.

The whole process with Empire Today has been a mess. The customer service department try to make things right but they could not answer for a horrible sales department and lazy installers. Me and my husband were planning to use Empire Today to install hardwood floor on both our entire upstairs and downstairs floors. We also wanted to install LVP in our kitchen. We spent almost a $1000 testing for asbestos. Our home is a 100 years old and I would never want to expose anyone to anything unsafe. We found out that the upstairs had some asbestos tiles so we were planning to bring in a company to safely remove them in the spring and then have Empire Today install floor up there in the summer. I set up an appt online but getting a sales person out to my house was impossible. Empire Today called me to cancel the 1st scheduled appt.
On the 2nd, the salesperson showed up at the wrong time and me and my husband were not home. On the 3rd appt, the salesperson called to tell us he could not make it due to a car accident. When he finally showed up, we settled on a solid hardwood for the first floor and LVP for the kitchen. We showed him the asbestos report from the lab and he said that was fine. Customer service offered me a discount because of the inconvenience that it took to get a salesperson to our house.
When the salesperson quoted me a very high price, I asked him about the current sales and the discount that customer service offered me. He told me I could not have the discounts but he would look at getting discounted wood. I told him how much I was willing to spend, based on other estimates, and he added $2000 and said that was the best he could so. Ok, I was willing to pay extra if it looks nice and done well. I called him the week later to ask when the wood would be delivered to acclimate. I texted me back to tell me he would let me know. I never heard from him so I called customer service. I also told customer service that the salesperson was not willing to consider giving me the discounts that I was promised or any current sales and the policy on wood deliver. The customer service took off $700 and told me that the wood is delivered that day of the job.
On the day of installation, the real problems started. They showed up on time but when they got there, they told me that they could not install the hardwood because my subfloors were not level. Ok, so we asked them if Empire Today could pull up the carpet (as written in my contract) and see what need to be repaired. The install said they Empire Today does fix subfloor but told us to forget about them and call a contractor. I asked him to get us an estimate from Empire Today and he refused.
Ok, I then decided to take my $10,000 hardwood flooring job plus the work upstairs to someone else. Then I asked them to still take up the tiles in the kitchen (as written in my contract) and just install the LVF. The installer jumped on my kitchen floor a few times, looked under the stove, said asbestos in Spanish and told me that my floor is not level and he would not install the LVP either. He did not take out a leveler and when I showed him that all the flooring in the kitchen tested negative for asbestos, he refused to look at it. They left and told us to get a contractor.
I called a contractor the same day and had a second come out that week, both used levelers in my kitchen and saw nothing uneven. They even told me that my subfloors in the rest of the house were fine. Both had flooring guys who were willing to install the hardwood floors on our entire first floor. We paid one contracted to pull up all the tiles, even though it was in my Empire Today contract, and saw nothing wrong with my subfloor. He said it is 100 years old and it should last another 100 years. Customer service took off some money from the final price of the kitchen floor since I had to hire someone to take up the floor that was suppose to be done by Empire Today. We are scheduled for installation today and they are still not at my house. I will be very upset if they do not show up today. I am very unhappy with this experience with Empire Today. I hope no other customer has to go through the same ordeal. Thank you.

Had vinyl flooring put in my home. Sales rep told me it came with a lifetime warranty and it was scratch resistant. Then the installers scratched the floor. Supervisor made two attempts to set dates for it to be repaired. Both dates for no calls no shows. Come to find out there is no warranty and it is not scratch resistant. That was only reason we chose this floor versus tile due to the fact of having three dogs and three children. One of our children to whom is autistic. They also made promises to come out and fix the damages as well as credit our account as well as our belongings were damaged. They left the debris outside in the yard. Supposably last we heard it was in corporate's hands but still have not heard anything. I would not recommend Empire Today to my worst enemy.

The salesperson was fine and convinced me to buy carpet from Empire, promising it would be installed in four days. The carpet people came, didn't have the underlay for one of the rooms, laid the living room and kitchen and broke one leg off of the refrigerator. They didn't tell me - I went out and asked them to put the refrigerator back in place, they had left it in the middle of the living room and that's when I saw it. Then they went out and I was phoning to try to get commitment for completion of job so didn't realize until I was leaving that they had also bent the door jamb and the door wouldn't shut. All you get if you report these things is a customer complaint number in Texas and no callback.
When the installers came 3 days later with the rest of the order, they had forgotten the underlay. They left. There is no way to get in touch with local office, so attempts to reschedule went through Texas again. Another case number and finally installation finished 11 days after promised. No response on damages to door and refrigerator. DO NOT USE EMPIRE.

We have called several times (4 to be exact) to set up an appointment but no one ever calls back to set up the appointment time. All of the representatives insist that someone has called but we have not received any calls and not missed calls are showing on my phone. I don't think anyone has called. Dec. 5th salesman came to my home and took order for two rooms of carpet, three areas of engineered tile and porcelain flooring in kitchen. Total was 7k. The guys who did the work spoke no English. The salesman measured my closets for carpet but failed to properly place order. The installers weren’t going to carpet closets. The salesman called me and told me to measure my own closets and give him measurements. I told him that was his job! The installers of engineered tile ruined the paint and baseboard in my bathroom and left a huge ugly gap between floor and bottom of cabinets. The installer of porcelain flooring used the wrong colored grout, left the floor looking like a mess, ruined most of my baseboards, tore a chunk off the bottom of my door, found a can of primer in my garage and slapped it on top of my newly painted baseboards on an attempt to cover up their mess, mixed the grout in my bathtub and left it a mess.
The manager came to my house and somewhat agreed that they needed to fix everything but when they replaced the grout in kitchen they still left in an absolute mess. I sent the manager 19 photos and never heard back. I begged her to come back out to inspect the work but she said they don’t do that. They’ve gone silent on me about their terrible work. However they aren’t silent on the billing.

On December 28th 2017 I had a Salesman from Empire Today come to my house as I requested to look into flooring for my house. I was looking into either the vinyl wood flooring or tile. He told me the vinyl wood flooring would be the best to go because it was guaranteed never to scratch and due to the fact that I had three children and three dogs. One of my children to whom is disabled as well as I am disabled it would be easier for me to clean and safer for them. I decided to go with that. On January 2nd was the installation dates due to be finished on January 5th. I also paid for movers to be able to help me move the furniture back and forth to two being disabled on it unable to do. So my husband took off four days of work to be able to help them as well. However its only moved four things. One of them they weren't even supposed to move which was my 75 gallon fish tank.
In the process of installing the floors there was multiple scratches on the forest to which they filled in with a chalk like pencil. I told them why don't they just replace that plank to due to the fact that I have a lifetime warranty. They said, "Oh no problem. We do this all the time." There was multiple things in my home that they broke such as a one-of-a-kind picture frame on my wall. My daughter's dresser was chipped, my dresser leg was broken half and as well as the multiple scratches and they didn't cover the pinholes from the baseboards as well as they left their trash in my yard.
I have since called and then speaking to the supervisor supposedly and they were supposed to scheduled to come out on the 17th of January to do the repairs which I thought I should have had to wait that long. However they were a no-call no-show. I then called again to the same supervisor in which he told me he was going to try to find out what was going on and see if they could get them to come out the following week that he would call me back at the end of the business day.
Here we are on January 29th. I have left him multiple messages and I've heard nothing back and on top of that both of my neighbors came over because they're both looking to do their floors as well. The installer gentleman told me to tell my neighbors to go by the vinyl flooring or whichever flooring they wanted from Home Depot and for me to give them his direct cell phone number and he would install it directly that's kind of a shady contractor if you ask me. I've never received my first bill for the floor to which is not completed at this point and I'm being billed $15,900 for pardon my English a half-ass job.
I felt I was lied to when they told me that the vinyl was scratch-proof. Had I have known that it would have got scratched when the installer scratched it I would have chosen tile not only that but at the time that I got my floor from the salesman there was a promotion that was being ran to where you buy one room you get every other room for $50 each. I was not offered that promotion as I was told I was getting the wholesale price.
I'm very disappointed in my decision right now to go with Empire Today as I don't understand why it is taking 25 days for them to even get back in touch with me to try to come up with a conclusion. I've getting this issue resolved. My next results is going to legal matters and a higher up supervisor if need be or maybe one will read this and contact me because its issue needs to be resolved. This is not a way to conduct business. A customer should get a job completed. This is unacceptable. I feel that I was lied to. Deceived. My things were damaged, the floor is damaged and now I'm left to pay $15,900 for damaged goods. Totally unethical. Bad customer service and I would rather dokkan with another company at this point. I regret my decision as well as I have all pictures of all damages and they have them as well. Someone waiting this long is unacceptable. I am disabled with a disabled child and also a toddler. This is not right.

However, I didn’t get the color or the type I wanted at all, but I went with what they had. Also, I wish that they had put grout in between the tiles because it will look and stay down better. I logged into install specials and called the number. I was then immediately called by Empire. The employee that answered the phone told me I would get a 500.00 coupon and price match the local chains like home **. The Salesman (Brian) arrived on time, measures everything while I am looking at 9 different colors to choose from. 9, yes only 9.
I decided on a color, he then tells me the estimate would be 13699.74 but with the discount they are having he can drop it to 6000.00. I then asked him about the 500.00 coupon, he says that there isn’t any coupons and the person who took my call doesn’t know that he is already saving me money. Ok? So I then proceeded to tell him I only have 4500.00 and would have to call the bank in the morning. He said if I don’t put 25 percent down he can’t offer me the discount that day? Really? I told him I would communicate with the bank in the morning.
I text him 3 times giving him a status. The 4th text was I can’t lock in today but will in about 2 weeks. He replies with a “I’m driving and will call you soon.“ Probably generated from his phone while driving and him pressing that option which is ok but he never called me back, text or bothered. So... If you don’t get the sale you blow people off? No text, no call?? Rude! I will never do business with them, ever. He couldn’t even show me reviews of the product nor show me the interactive option with that product like the others “they sell”. I believe it is meant to be. I have received a estimate from their competitors and never told them what I was quoted nor played the I can get it cheaper game. They quoted me 3856.00 total, out the door. So... Thank you for giving me a 10000.00 difference, take my so called discount away if I don’t put money down and being so rude. I can smell dishonesty a mile away and should of went with my gut.

I think it was April or perhaps May of 2018 that we had Empire install a nail in hardwood floor and a carpet. Both looked fantastic at first - the carpet for the most part still does. The hardwood floor however has gotten scratched up real fast and real easy. The scratches are so bad that my floor looks like garbage now. I cannot imagine why this happened- I do have two dogs and two cats however the sales lady insisted this particular floor would hold up against anything, even dragging furniture across it constantly (which we never have). And for the amount of money we spent on the small section of wood flooring it SHOULD hold up against anything - the cheap Lumber Liquidator wood laminate I have in three other rooms held up far better - and we installed those almost 9 years ago ourselves. I’m very disappointed with the lack of quality of this wood floor, and as of right now I will never have Empire install any more floors in my house.

Updated on 02/11/2019: I have been waiting for over 7 months for Empire to fix the window treatments, after they took my money to get them fixed. I left a prior review a few weeks ago, describing my waiting 7 months, having to make over 30 calls for follow up, which never led to anything. After leaving that horrible review about Empire Today, I finally got a callback, from someone named Mandy, letting me know that the parts were in and that they could send someone out to fix the window treatments. I had them come out the next day, but of course, they brought the wrong parts. Not even the correct color. They have to replace two pieces of plastic nothing particularly complicated, just two long pieces of plastic that hold the window treatments into the base.
I was extremely upset and disappointed with the fact that after 7 months of waiting and hounding Empire for an update, they sent the wrong items. I have called Mandy several times now over the last 2 weeks asking for an update, but as per their usual piss poor customer service record, they have yet to call me back. This is unacceptable treatment of paying customers, and they refuse to give me back the money I paid for the parts and repairs that I paid back in June 2018.
Updated on 01/24/2019: I called Empire on 1/22/2019, about my waiting more than 7 months for someone to come and fix my window treatments that are under warranty. Not to mention that the technician took money to fix the job back in June 2018. I was told on the phone during my most recent call, that my issue would be escalated to a "priority ticket" and that someone would call me back within 24 hours.
No surprise, I have not received a callback. I left a review on 1/23/2019, and the company responded that they would get back to me shortly. This has been their story day after day, week after week, for the last 7 months. To date, I have called more than 30 times and have a recorded call of my last conversation with a representative that I will be posting. I suggest anyone having similar issues, call the state's attorneys office and make a claim against them. I will be looking into how to file a class action suit against them and will be leaving the attorney's info when available.
Original Review: I have been waiting for over 7 months for someone to either fix my window treatments or return the money they took for the job. No one even returns your calls. They are quick to take your money, but good luck getting the services you paid for or the money you paid them. It's a SCAM! No one ever answers the phone for their customer service line. I leave them 3-4 messages a week and am still waiting for a callback. I hope enough people decide against using them and they go out of business. A company with such poor service should not have the privilege of staying in business. THE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED... And I have had to deal with Comcast. That says a lot right there.

We had used Empire before on the first ground floor apartment and we didn't have a problem. They were very reasonable throughout. Recently I had a carpet done upstairs in three bedrooms and a corridor. My only concern was when I asked the guys who came in with the carpet to fix the flooring. It was supposed to be all put in a report. The floor seemed to crack a bit at times, so I had asked if it would be a problem and if it could be fixed. The initial rep said it shouldn’t be a problem and that it would probably be a little extra, which wasn't a big deal compared to what I wanted done to one of the bedrooms.
When the tech guys came, it appeared to be that they didn’t know that they had to do that. They took pictures of my house and sent it to their boss, and I was very upset. Their boss told them to charge me extra money because they had to move stuff. I have a dresser and they'd have to put it on something to slide it. But the next crew that came tried to make things as simple as possible. They came in and said it was not a problem. The carpet is good and I appreciate the work that the guys did, and they were respectful of everything. The only holdback was when I tried to get the original rep, it was hard to get to him. She was polite and we had the thing done in less than an hour. Then, the people that installed it were prompt. They came out and did an excellent job. The price of it was a little bit high, but the idea is it's in a rental. With a rental, when you've had it these many years, you're pretty much in between each tenant. Tenants usually stay between two to four years and you gotta pull the carpet out every five to six years. It's just the maintenance on it. Other than that, I'm really happy with this company.

I had someone from Empire Today come out to measure the room to give me a price on the carpeting and I never got a straight answer out of them. They took the measurements and asked what I wanna pay for it. I said, “I’m asking you what it’s gonna cost me to get this installed.” And the rep gave me some astronomical price about it. I said, “No, no. That’s crazy. I’m not gonna pay that.” She said, “Well, what will you pay?” I said, “I’ll call somebody else if that’s what your offer is.” The rep said that they're accepting offers and asked me what I will pay. I gave her a price and she took it. I should have went $500 cheaper. It was just a bad experience. It felt like I got taken advantage of and I’ve used Empire before. I used them when I lived in Los Angeles and I never had a problem there. I’ll just call somebody else, somebody who’ll give me a straight answer.

I've always had Empire Today. They've done a nice job and they were fast. I know they have to work with outside companies and I had some problems with that which was frustrating. I had the flooring done on three different occasions. One of them was great and the other one was saying something about the floorboards needed to be completely replaced. I sent in two other people and there was a huge difference, like a couple thousand dollars difference. So, I wasn't happy with that. The other time, I had hurt my back really bad and I had to run to the chiropractor. The contractor called me and said he was done and he wanted me to get home. But when I got there, he hadn't cleaned anything up. So, I was irritated. There were other problems but Shane, the sales guy, followed through on stuff, more than he was required to. He made sure that I was happy. I really like him. I wanted to finish the rest of my house and I'd get Empire Today again.

If I could give 0 stars I would. They are real great during their "sales pitch"- promising licensed/bonded installers, quality work, professionalism... We spent $7000 on laminate and about another $5000 on carpet- which is a lot of money! But again, we thought we were paying for quality. The install occurs- a requested change I put in was not made in time though I was told it would, and was also told we had room in our approval to make that change without any out of pocket costs. I had to spend hours back and forth getting it corrected. It took 2 more days for the installer to obtain the product after he complained he had to keep driving down to San Diego for nothing to try and obtain it.
Install begins, halfway through the first day, he leaves to go collect some money that is owed to him, leaves his apprentice behind who is not experienced so he spends some time trying to rip out the carpet, and some of the time sitting on our $2000 couch. Needless to say, the laminate took days longer than we were told it would, our thresholds squeak like they are 50 years old, the surrounding area around our fireplace seems to have to padding and if you step on it, you sink down.
This also concerns me because our dog door is right there and it has been pouring rain. Our carpet crew was timely, quick and very professional. But what gets me is when you are promised a licensed person to come in your home and the installer flat out admits he is not licensed, to me that should be illegal!!! This company is crooked. I highly advise you to go somewhere else and actually end up happy been the thousands of dollars you spend... I called 3 days ago to complain about our floor sinking and was promised a call back within 24 hrs by a manager, no call. So we will raise hell so everyone knows to keep shopping.

One installer made a 3-4" cut in my carpeting for some reason. It has not been repaired. So far we have only received a partial refund. We were looking forward to an update in our home. Had to cancel the entire job.

My entire home flooring was done by Empire Today. Total cost over $12,000.00. I love my carpet and new tile. When the installers of the tile were ripping up my old tile, They did not seal the rooms well enough and the temperature outside in Florida was hot, so I had the A/C on. Needless to say, there was a ton of dust all over my home. I was very upset over this and I told the installers that if I had know it was going to be this bad, I would never have had the new tile installed.
I contacted the sales person Jennifer and she assured and promised me that Empire would pay for the cleaning of my home and she even cleared it through her manager. She asked me how much I thought it would cost to clean my home and I said around $300.00. She said go ahead and have it cleaned and submit the invoice to her via email and she would send it on to have Empire pay for the cleaning. I had my home professionally cleaned for $300.00 months ago and submitted the paid invoice only to be told by Empire that they were not going to pay it.
I also had to have my A/C ducts professionally cleaned at a cost of $600.00 because the dust was so thick in my duct work. My 95 year old dad lives with me and before I had all of this cleaning done, he and I were sneezing and coughing all of the time. I will not recommend Empire Today to any of my friends and I am sorry that I trusted them. I can not believe that I spent over $12,000.00 with them on flooring and they would not pay $300.00 for house cleaning. Live and learn. I will be suing them in small claims court over this matter. It is not about the money, it is about lying to me.

The salesman from Empire Today came out to the house and measured all up and prepared us for what we had to do. Then the guys came in and put a laminated wood floor on the great room of L-shaped ranch. It turned out great. They came back to do the carpet but they said they couldn’t do it because we didn’t move enough furniture.
When I had called Empire, they said we don't have to worry about it because their people will move our furniture. They also told us to get all the drawers out of the stuff and pick it up as best as we could, and they would just slide it around. But when the guys came out, they said there was no way they could do the job. They said that it would only take them two to three hours to do the job, and they'd spend four or five hours moving all the stuff. I live here with my father and I’m his caregiver. He’s a single man, crippled and there’s no way I can move the furniture. So I had to get the furniture moved out into the garage, and we hired another company to do it.
Empire gave us a refund on our carpet portion. Also, the installers were very polite and hard workers. They didn’t mess around and they have the job done right away. They were in here at eight o’clock in the morning. They moved some of the stuff out that I couldn’t, came in and put the carpet up, cut remnants and cleaned the place straight up and knocked the wood floor out there, and out the door by three o’clock in the afternoon. It's a large room and they worked hard. I would recommend Empire Today. I wouldn’t tell anybody that they’re not a good company or a good reputable business. I don’t know if there’s a snafu between the salesman and the workforce but it doesn’t matter. We’re happy with the wood floor.

Updated on 01/24/2019: The issue has not been resolved. I have not been contacted by Empire Today for a resolution. I spoke with Turk ** less than a week ago. He was only inquiring as to whether my husband and I were going to proceed with 2nd redo and accept the potential consequence this redo could result in the flooring being worse than before. I cannot receive a guarantee or confirmation from Empire Today that the flooring would be redone to my satisfaction but again only within industry standards.
The work has a 12 month warranty but according to ** Empire Today is only willing to give one redo. Any additional redos require a 3rd party to come out and determine if a redo is necessary. Unfortunately as long as the flooring is leveled within industry standards and there are no obvious dips (despite any noise or customer dissatisfaction) this 3rd party will determine if the floor needs to be redone. Therefore the 12 month workmanship warranty is negated by this industry standard. THIS ISSUE IS STILL OUTSTANDING.
Original Review: Purchased LVP flooring from Empire Today less than 5 months ago. After installation the flooring was making a smacking noise when walked on certain areas. Upon contacting the installer they eventually came out and redid the floor. Myself and the installer noticed when they pulled up the LVP there were many many areas where these same installers did not properly lay the floating material during the original installation thus causing the LVP to make the smacking noise when you walk on certain areas.
Unfortunately after the installers redid the floor most of the original areas were fixed, but NEW areas making the smacking noise surfaced. Upon contacting the installer he came out and basically said there was nothing else he could do and that I would need to contact Empire Today. After contacting Empire Today they sent the installer out again who reiterated what he previously told us, however at this point he indicated the installation manager would be in contact with us.
Well the installation manager T ** came to our home, checked the floor with his leveler and indicated the floor was level and within INDUSTRY STANDARDS and there was nothing Empire Today could do except send a 3rd party associate to check the floor and this 3rd party associate would basically conclude the same as what T ** had already informed us. ** did offer to have new installers come out (at the cost of Empire Today) and touch up the areas making the noise but also indicated we would have to sign off as satisfied the same day even though we would not have time to check the floor to confirm actual satisfaction. Meaning we would not have an opportunity to verify the previous issues were fixed and that no new issues are present.
** informed us if new issues arose as a result of the 2nd redo it would be a lengthy process for us to have those areas fixed by Empire Today because the floor is leveled based on industry standard and because he did not hear or see these issues when present in our home (after all of our furniture had been moved out for the redo it was difficult to point out all the noise issues). Our complaint HAS NEVER BEEN that the floor was not leveled but that the floating material underneath was not properly or professionally laid under the LVP once again, especially since new issues arose after the first redo.
** tried to indicate the noise was the result of the floor shifting because it is not glued down. 1) We were told gluing the LVP would void the LVP manufacturers warranty. 2) We were NEVER informed the floor would make noise due to poor installation of the floating material. The noise was not due to shifting as it was discovered within the first 1-2 days after install upon which we immediately contacted Empire Today within the week. We waited over month before having the installers come out to ensure the noise would not change after acclimating to our home and environment.
Please beware of this company while there is a warranty on the workmanship the warranty has a major loophole. Empire does not care if the customer is satisfied, they only care about installed within industry standards. There are numerous other issues wherein I would have expected better from trained professional installers. After having installers to our home 4 times we only received 1 redo, because there are no major dips in our floor but if there is noise where the professional installers did a poor job laying the floating material you will have to accept it after the first redo because additional redos are nearly impossible as long as there are no noticeable dips in your floor. And any redos after that could potentially result in the same shoddy work and you may have to jump through hurdles to get Empire Today to redo your floor a 3rd time.
I will never purchase from nor recommend Empire Today to anyone as it is my belief they have deceptive business practices and use industry loopholes to take advantage of consumers. Nowhere in the contract was it mentioned the floor would make these sounds. Nowhere in the contract did it state the floor would not be completed to customer satisfaction but based on industry standard. We spent over 5k to live the next 15 yrs with floors that make noise due to poor installation or we could pay another 5k to have another company come out and redo the flooring and cross our fingers that they have more professional less rushed installers than Empire Today, this is not acceptable.
I would greatly like to return this product and receive a refund but ** basically informed us that Empire Today would rather drag you through court for years rather than refund your money— according to ** there is basically too much work from past hurricanes for Empire and their installers to spend too much time redoing any home to customers actual satisfaction.
Tammie, thank you for making us aware of your concerns. We apologize for your experience, and we'll be in touch with you shortly to make things right.

Left my wife sitting at the house for 2 hours before calling me telling me they weren’t showing up. Second time to install carpet the installers showed up started taking up my carpet & pad. 2 hours into job the installers call me to tell me there’s a large cut in the new carpet and they can’t install it. So now it’s been 2 weeks before getting more carpet to install and I’ve had to take 3 days off from work to get one installation of carpet. We had to have our guest bathroom floor replaced. We had original tile from when the house was built. We decided to go with Empire and have them install vinyl. Installation day came and went without incident. About a month later we noticed the edge of one on the vinyl tiles was lifting. This led to two tiles lifting. After finally getting in contact with someone from Empire, a repair was scheduled. I took a day off of work to wait for the repair as we were given a time frame of between 8 am and 6 pm. At 4:00 pm I was still waiting as no one had called. I left several messages and sent emails as well.
No one ever showed up. I finally was able to contact someone and they were able to see that we were scheduled, but not sure why the repair/installer never showed. Rescheduled for next day. Next day comes, repair guy shows up, lifts edge of tile and simply states whole floor needs to be replaced. Someone will call me. No call received. I, again, had to initiate communication to get repair done. Second repair guy comes out, is much more knowledgeable, but was unable to complete job because he was only given enough for repair, not whole floor replacement. So now I am waiting for yet another call to reschedule a full floor replacement. Let’s hope 3rd time's a charm, not holding my breath. This has been going on for 3 months.

I hired Empire to do a vinyl install. The contractors they sent out a month later did a horrible job. Not only did they go over the time of the install by almost 2 hours (I have HOA rules no construction after 5), they left all their mess. I came home to shards all over my floors, nails, fragments, etc. all while holding my crawling baby and dog by myself. The dog ended up with bloody paws, my baby was cut on his hands and feet while I was rushing around trying to vacuum up the mess. The installers just watched and offered to help. They then had the audacity to ask for a tip before they left. I was so busy cleaning up the mess and tending to my family I didn't have time to go over the completed work before the installers abruptly left after I refused to tip them.
As soon as baby and dog were settled I realized they had done a horrendous job. They left baseboards missing, nails were shooting up from the carpet to vinyl transition and none of the transition pieces were installed correctly, were coming up, vinyl wasn't cut straight and was very noticeably crooked and pieces of baseboard and transitions weren't cut to size. Gaps were left between my doorway showing that not only did they not put down underlayment but leaving a 3 cm gap exposed from my front entryway.
I called immediately and talk to a manager and someone named Anita called the next day saying she was shocked and that she had multiple complaints about the installers they had sent out to my home and was going to let them go. She was extremely apathetic and set up someone to come out to do the repairs within a few days.
Well, weeks went by and not a word. More calls to the direct line of Anita to no avail. Meanwhile multiple injuries had been happening in my household due to the dangerous install. I eventually went over Anita's head to complain and amazingly she got back to me within 24 hours. She set up a crew to come within a few days to do the work. Guess what? They cancelled. This happened a couple more times, then once again going over Anita's head to get a response she sent another crew who did show up and once they saw how much work had to be done to fix they didn't want to do so they flaked on me twice. Finally, I got their head repair contractor Sebastion to come out. He was shocked at how bad they left my home and for how long and his team did the repairs. This took over a month.
Anita, had promised me due compensation (Empire initially offered me $100 which was not fair compensation for my ordeal) once Sebastion and his team had completed the work (I have this conversation recorded by the way because of how my experience had been with hours on the phone trying to get help). It has been over 2 months of dozens of calls to Anita with messages and she has not gotten back to me. I am about to sue for breach of contract and liability. I don't understand how Empire Carpets is still in business when I have searched reviews from them and have had read dozens of similar stores. I'm wondering if a class action could be formed at this point? There must be thousands of customers that have been taken advantaged of and injured in the process.

The people that I dealt with at Empire at their office was very nice and kind. In July 2018, when all the installation was going on, I wasn't home. My aunt was here with my mom who had ovarian cancer. I had my mother and my aunt down in the boy's bedroom that was kind of barricaded. They couldn't move and get out. My mom didn't have air. I thought that the installer could have been a little more pleasant. The installer was my biggest issue. It was quite obvious that mom wasn't well when the installer came. My mother passed away in October and that was when Empire made a mistake of calling me and asked how did I like everything. They did the steps and there were nails in the steps, that my little guy, as he was climbing up the steps, cut his foot. And there were two lumps.
They managed to hammer down some of the lumps and some of the nails on the steps but there are still nails that are poking through. And funny enough, my aunt was still here or had visited again from England when the installer came back the second time. My aunt said it was the same guy that was here that installed it and he looked like the same unhappy camper that he was. The carpet's fine and its wear is okay. Empire had also installed the previous carpet and there were no issues. Empire was also great with coming back. But I had that nail issue and I won't even call anybody back the third time.

I have Empire carpeting installed throughout my condo which we purchased in 2016. Due to some wear by the previous owners, I had Empire come out in 2016 to replace the carpeting in the master bedroom and on one set of stairs (15 stairs) from the front door up to the living room. Fast forward two years later... The carpeting in the master bedroom is buckling in a few places, and the carpeting on the stairs is separating on each stair since it was apparently installed in two pieces on each step.
I called Empire Customer Service and they sent out 2 carpet installation inspectors to assess the issue. They both told me that the replaced carpeting was not installed properly in 2016... It was not stretched adequately, the edges of the carpeting are coming up, the carpeting on the stairs should not have been installed in two pieces, and the patterned carpeting was not aligned properly with the door seam in the master bedroom and the hallway. The inspectors TOLD me this, they were very professional, and also spent about 45 minutes on the phone with somebody at Empire while they were here. That was on January 3, 2019. It is now January 9, 2019 and I have heard NOTHING back from Empire.
It cost me $95 to have the inspectors come out (and interestingly enough the check was cashed that same day). I have called Customer Service repeatedly without any feedback as to what Empire is going to do to resolve this. Today the Customer Representative told me that she had no record of the Inspector's findings and will have to reach out to the Installation Department for their decision on how to move forward. I am beyond frustrated and disappointed with Empire's total lack of organization and accountability.

Last June we had laminate and carpet installed in our home. The laminate installation crew were awesome and our floors look beautiful. The carpet installation crew was another story. Walls in one of our bedrooms were damaged in 5 different areas from the carpet installers. Called Empire and sent them pictures and they gave us a credit of a $150 to fix the wall. They did not bring our baseboards which we ordered for the whole house so another crew had to come out to install them on another day. These guys left stickers just thrown around the rooms from the baseboards they had peeled off. Very unprofessional.
We were not happy how the carpet was installed in our bedroom and someone came out to inspect the situation. He ended up just tearing up half of the room of carpet and not even removing the baseboards or threshold strips. He put foam padding over the uneven floor and just tucked the carpet back under the baseboards and threshold strips. We thought in time the foam padding would flatten out a little but it did not. Feels like a bunch of lumps under the carpet. Not happy at all.
Our salesman originally told us if for any reason we are not happy with our carpets they will come and replace them And the manufacturer Mohawk would pay us. This is how highly he praised the carpet. Well called Empire and expressed our concerns and wanted to have the carpet removed and replaced with laminate to match what we currently have in our home. We were told that there is no such warranty and it would cost us over $2000. Just a reminder to anyone getting anything from Empire, GET IT IN WRITING... Very sad to learn this after all the money we paid to have this done. They did not even honor anything we were told by this salesman. Done doing business with them and will definitely spread the word.

I contacted Empire Today in order to receive a FREE estimate. To most, this means they will leave you with a quote (whether written or emailed) on company letterhead. An estimate should include pricing, breakdown of cost and an expiration date. The first salesman told me he could not leave a price without a downpayment. Stated this was "Company policy". After numerous phone calls and complaints, they agreed that this is NOT company policy and that they could absolutely provide a quote in writing.
So, they sent a second salesman. He came in and offered to send me a 'screenshot' of pricing (which doesn't even list who the quote is from). This is appalling! I will never do business with a company that falsely advertises and refuses to leave an estimate. What a scam. Any reputable company would never have an issue with leaving a quote in writing for you to compare prices and options. I will be contacting the BBB as well, but wanted to share this information. Because we were happy with the service we decided to have Empire come out again in April to carpet our basement that we just finished. Then my mother-in-law bought a new house in August and my husband had Empire come out to her house and install new carpet as well. She had opened a Credit Card as well.
In October when I went to make my CC payment, I noticed a charge on there in the amount of 3,000.00! So when I called I was bounced around several times and finally connected to someone who had some answers for me. He had told me that for some reason the sales rep had (Linked) attached my Mother in law's account to mine? So they added her balance to my loan??? Not even sure how that happened when I do not even have the same last name as my MIL not to mention we do not live in the same house or have the same SOCIAL SECURITY #!!
I was told that they would take care of this asap and to give them a week. I logged back into my account a week later and the 3,000 balance was still there! So I had to call again and explain the WHOLE thing all over again to another customer service rep. This time I was told that they would rush my request to fix the issue and even gave me a name and # to another person who would handle it from there. I called a person name Joellen and left her a voicemail. She called me back a week later and said that she would personally take care of my issue.
A week later my balance went back to where it should have been, but my monthly payment is still where it was at when my balance was over 5K! I called Joellen again and left another message and called her manager as well to only be ignored! I called the 800 # again and demanded to speak to a manager and I was connected with a Mandy who then told me that I need to take this up with Wells Fargo and not Empire. I told her that she was wrong and that this was a MERCHANT issue and I wanted it fixed asap. Here we are now in JANUARY and my issue is still not resolved. Horrible!!! They cancelled on me 4 times. Yes, four times, and then they issued partial refund to me. Yes, you are reading this right, partial refund. I lost 2 days of work and 2 days of holidays and they did not care about that. I have never seen a company that treats potential consumers this way. Just horrible. I figured that there are local carpet companies who treat you much better, are cheaper, and do the work better.

I've used Empire Today before in other buildings and they usually do a half decent job. A year ago, I got the wood floor and had them put it in my kitchen and dining room floor. I’m not happy because it was down only for a few months. I called them back because I noticed there was buckling in one area in the dining room. They sent somebody out there and this guy was trying to tell me that it was water damage. I said that it would have been all over the floor and not just one spot. He said that was what he was gonna recommend. When I called Empire to talk about it, they told me that he was their expert and that if I wanted another opinion, I would have to pay for it and have them come and write something up. In case it was something different, then they would still have to take it into consideration and decide whether or not they would fix it.
I had another floor put in. I had the kitchen and bathroom done with vinyl. The bathroom floor was buckling up and although it was not super bad, it was bad enough to notice. The contractor who put in my walk-in tub said that the reps from Empire put it too tight which was why it was going up. When we mentioned it to them, they said that their rep said that it was water damage. I asked them why he didn’t pull off the baseboard and why he didn’t look and see how tight the floor was put down. Also, there was a corner in the kitchen that my brother noticed as spongy. I saw it was bad underlaying and they didn’t replace it when they put the floor in. So, when I called them, they came out and pulled all that up. They put new underlaying in and did it the right way. However, they wouldn’t do anything for the dining room floor.

Vinyl floor was to be installed in my basement. My concerns, 85 yr old home, asbestos tiles, new sewer line recently installed. I was assured by salesman, Sam, no problem. Day of install, I was called and asked if anyone had been in touch with me... No one had. Trey advised me, based on pictures, that vinyl probably would not work. They sent out Charlie who concurred, and told me Empire's objective was to have me "sign off" releasing them from obligation when the vinyl would most certainly start coming up, creating a situation underneath like "potato chips".
I called Trey back, distraught, who then offered to come by and assess. He said carpet was the only option. I was very reluctant. This is a basement, but I was desperate, as party was in a couple days. New salesman came out, tried to be helpful, in fairness, and gave me the rules on distance from furnace, hot water heater, etc. Next day, install, 2 guys arrived. 1 polite and quiet, the other bullying and rude, asking me what he was supposed to do. I broke down. It is not my job to tell him the specs and parameters, as I do not know the rules and guidelines. Very long story short, he refused to install, my family Christmas party had to be cancelled, they still have my 2000$, and all the food I bought is going to waste. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.

I recently had Empire install vinyl flooring for me. I have decided to go with someone else for carpet. The installation looks like I did. The reason I hired someone was so it would look like a professional installation. When the other company came for my estimate they noticed the new flooring, they did not laugh but were somewhat appalled at the job and installation techniques. Explained how they would have done it and I believe it would have come out much nicer. That being said I am sure it would have cost more but I was hoping for something that look nice.
Biggest complaint was the use of 1/4 round that did not match molding. Salesman assured me it would look nice when finished. NOT!!! During the quote I was rushed because he was late for another appointment, That should have been my sigh. I wish I had taken more time and gotten more estimates so that's on me. Will not use them again, might pay a little more but probably worth it. Just to let everyone know never had them install carpet, maybe they do a better job with that.

The sales rep came on time. I picked the carpet. They sent the wrong color. The men that came to install agreed it was wrong. I got a report number with promises of a call back that day. No call. Called again. No call next day. Called later finally got someone. He insisted it was the right color. Gave a ton of excuses. Even had the nerve to say, "It would look different when you see whole roll as opposed to a piece." It’s not paint. It doesn’t dry darker. I was on a time crunch.
I then had to wait 2 days for them to come back. New men came. Wrong color. Same one as first time as if I’m color blind. They agreed it wasn’t the same color. Now I’m forced to postpone a trip. The in charge person they had me speak with had the nerve to say he showed it to people at Empire and they say it’s the same. He is totally difficult to deal with. Not an apology. I sent pictures side by side where you can clearly see the difference and yet he insisted it’s the same. I sent the same picture to people and they all said it’s not the same, just in case. I never ever have I dealt with such an arrogant person. I used Empire before with no problems that’s why I called again. The females that answer in customer service are extremely kind. I had laminated hardwood flooring installed everywhere there was carpet on the first floor and the second floor. I purchased from Empire Today since it is a known company. I felt more inclined to use them. Plus they've been around for a long time so I trusted the brand. They have very good customer service too. They were very professional, informative and quick. They came out one day and after the next, in that same week, my floors were done.
The product I got was cheaper than the real hardwood floor. But because it's dark, everything shows up, like animal hair. What I don't like about it also is that it's not as durable as I thought it would be. There's already a chip on one of the panels and that happened a week after I had them. My two-year old just dropped her cup on the floor and it chipped it. I have a warranty though so I need to call them and have them replace that floorboard. On the other hand, what I like about the floor is that it is easy to clean.

The installer never showed (not surprised). I have been calling customer service for the last 5 days, no resolution. Salesman showed up on time. Did not have the correct samples. Kept pressuring me to sign the contract. I could only get the quoted price if I signed right then. I was wasting the salesman time, if I didn't sign. Well, I didn't sign. Can I at least see the product you want me to contract you for, BEFORE I sign. Met with salesman again, he was late. This is a vacant house. Not enjoyable to wait for him. Easiest job ever for them. So I signed. I took the day off from work to meet installers. They were late. But worse than that, they didn't bring enough carpet!!! Went round and round with installer with salesman with office in Stoughton. They wanted me to let the installers go ahead with what they had. They would come back and finish.
SO...the carpet would be from 2 different lots. Large house, so there has to be a seam. 2 lots = 2 colors. Anyone knows you never buy from 2 different lots on anything with color. It won't be an exact match. Soooo...they rescheduled appt. to come back with the correct amount of carpet, all from the same lot. When I complained about another day off work because of their screw up, they offered me $200.00, (I make $62.00/hr) and said that's all their contract allows for their mistakes, and I shouldn't be so upset. I asked what the problem is with Saturdays. I tried to get it on a Saturday. My salesman told me they don't do Saturdays. Or I never would have scheduled a weekday. Sooo...I scheduled the install for the next Saturday. It's finally done.
Would NEVER use them again. Would never recommend them to anyone. They are high pressure, overpriced and make you feel like if you don't sign their contract right then and there, you're going to lose your "discount" price. As well as, to make their world easier, they don't care what the final product looks like. Or they never would have said "take this carpet today, and we'll be back tomorrow with more" and finish it. UNPROFESSIONAL IS PUTTING IT MILDLY.

On the first evening they were supposed to be here between 7-9 and at about 8-8:30 someone called and said the representative was sick and couldn't come. Of course this really put a bad taste in our mouths. I received a call from someone wanting to make it up to us. Offered $250 extra off of our total. I continued to tell her that in my experience if you start off business that way you usually end in that manner. Against my better judgment, I allowed her to reschedule our estimate because she promised she was going to speak to the supervisor in our area and be sure they only sent the best representative out and that they would be sure to show up. She put me on hold and said returned to the line and said she had spoke to the supervisor. And he himself would be coming out and was definitely available at the said date and time.
Well guess what, I never received a call or anything. At about 8:45 I called and they informed me that they indeed did not have anyone to come out!!! No call, no email, nothing! I called the following day and spoke to a Supervisor at the call center and she said that my account had already been sent to someone who would be calling me to straighten everything up, guess what... Several days later I have yet to hear anything! We recently had a laminate wood-looking floor installed in the family room, dining room and all four bedrooms. Empire Today did a good job with it, and we love the way it looks and the way it cleans out. Where they put it in is absolutely gorgeous, and it's lightened up the house a lot more than I thought it would. I have COPD, and I've been prone to having pneumonia. Now I can breathe better and I'm not afraid of having to go to the hospital every time I turn around. Plus my daughter, who has all kinds of allergies, is not sniffling and coughing around as much either. The house is cleaner now than with no carpeting.
Everything was good except the salesman. We never felt like he was telling the truth about stuff, and when Empire came in and laid the first flooring, we found out he was not telling the truth about making sure that it's seamless. Also, he only had a limited supply of laminate flooring to show us, and that was aggravating 'cause our choices weren't a whole lot to pick out what we wanted. We asked him why he had a few samples, and he said because he has to pay for them himself so he couldn’t afford to buy too many samples. That limited our choices, and we just went for something else because of that.

Empire Today does a good job and we're happy with what we got. We got the flooring with that new wood-look and we like it real well. The installers were decent too and they seemed to do a good job, except for one piece that buckled up on the edge of the carpet. That happened because of the carpet and that flooring, and they had to come back three times. But they used some heavy-duty glue and finally got it glued down now. So it's just fine. That was also the only thing that was out of line.

I ordered flooring for 2 rooms. The salesman for Indianapolis, Kyle, called several times trying to get an appointment as soon as possible. He finally came out and measured and showed me some samples and pushed me towards one sample which I ended up ordering. He looked at the floor and told me that the old layers of the floor needs to be taken up and leveled before the new floor can be put down. I agreed with the price and set up the appointment to have my floor installed.
I took 2 days off of work to be here while it was replaced. The installers arrived but the work order was wrong and said nothing about pulling up the old flooring. Installer said the work order says to lay new floor over old floor and he also told me the the flooring I chose was for commercial use, and if he put it down it will start to buckle. He advised me not to put it down and call the salesman, Kyle, back. I called 6 times in two days to try and get ahold of Kyle and was told by the operator that they left a voicemail and emailed him all 6 times and stated that he would call back. As I am typing this message I still haven't received any calls from ANYONE at Empire Today to fix this problem and I missed two days of work. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

If you value your time, reconsider. On three separate occasions, I took leave from work and declined an overtime opportunity to wait on carpet installation that was rescheduled. It is a horrible look for an employee to repeatedly request time off on the same issue and prevent another employee from spending time with their loved ones around the holidays. The installer stated my carpets must be installed first thing in the morning and could not accommodate an afternoon request because of the size of the project - four rooms, closets, and hallway - but mentioned I could leave after signing the paperwork.
First install date 12/8/2018 - Overbooked. Second install date 12/10/2018 - Snowed the evening prior. Third install date 12/15/2018 - Vehicle trouble (passed up overtime on a questionable excuse). Fourth install date 12/21/2018 - Afternoon appointment! Another person took the day off; I was in a pinch. In a desperate attempt to receive carpet, I gave my credit card and house access to someone who could only stay for a short while. Fifth install date 12/28/2018 - The appointment mysteriously disappeared, even though I scheduled with a supervisor -- overbooked. Sixth install date 12/29/2019 - Nope, cancel the entire order. I want my money back.
Seventh install date 12/28/2018 - Stated they were going to ask people to reschedule. I am fuming. No one should have to reschedule to a predetermined date. The only reason I am even entertaining this last attempt is that I have requested off too many times. An entire day off around the holidays is a difficult task when you have the lowest seniority. It would be a slap in the face to the person who gave up their time for me. A shared outlook calendar for each distribution warehouse center with reading access for all to see would resolve a lot of overbooking issues.
Living out of boxes in your own home is difficult. I moved everything in and out of my kitchen multiple times because it is the only room not receiving flooring. After the third reschedule, I left everything in place rendering my kitchen useless. After weeks of tunneling to items as needed, everything is everywhere. Being rescheduled multiple times has caused me to live in chaos, give up 4 hours of overtime, request 14 hours of leave, inconvenienced others to cover for me, not to mention that I had to ask my boss for time off repeatedly. Empire's compensation value for my troubles is $150 off. Smh.

Most of them seemed to be Brazilians and some of them barely spoke English but they had somebody to guide them through. And they were all very professional, polite and respectful. We had a leak and had to have the tiles removed and replaced. I got carpet and sheet vinyl from Empire Today. We had them do the installation in the living room, kitchen, dining room, three bedrooms, and stairs. The installation got done in four phases. The living and dining room was done in phase one, the sheet vinyl was done in phase two, and my bedroom and walk-in closet was phase three, and then the upstairs was phase four. But everything was going wrong during phase four. I originally was gonna have the same carpet throughout the house. It was the end of the year, so Empire quit carrying the one product. They thought they had enough but they didn’t, so I had to switch carpet. But it worked out okay.
I scheduled the last installation on a Friday. The installers showed up, but it was the wrong carpet. The tag that was on there had the correct name, but the carpet was not like what the sample looked like. So, we rescheduled for the next Wednesday. When they came, it was the exact same roll. We knew it was the exact same roll because when they came last time, the installer had cut a little piece out of the corner and brought it into my house. When I looked at the tag, where the guy had crumpled it up, it was the same. I talked to the warehouse manager, and he said that because there was a roll that had my name on it, and that roll never got used, the warehouse in Tampa would not issue another roll. So, he was gonna have to say that that roll was defective.
We scheduled the installation for the third time, but unfortunately, it happened to be the day that we had some terrible storms. When the guy got here, I asked him where was his helper, and he said that his helper had gotten into an accident on the way here. So, it ended up taking him five hours to install into the bedrooms upstairs, which would've normally be two to three hours. But he did a good job.

I have been up since 7am waiting for this phone call. No one called me, and they made me reschedule my appointment. He gave me $150 off my multiple thousand dollar purchase for the inconvenience. This is not an inconvenience, this is a huge hassle. I have a dog that would have lost his mind if someone knocked on the door. When no one showed up in the allotted time- I was told it would be between 7 and 8 pm and the inspector was the original installer. I asked for a management inspector and had to wait over a week with several reschedules. Checking with other carpet companies who came to look at the carpet (for a fee) I was told that if the glue is not hot enough then the carpet will unravel at the seams. Checking with carpet companies in South Carolina- I was told the same thing.
Finally "Jose" came out and agreed with the diagnosis and said he would get back to me Dec 24 or Dec 26. Of course, no phone call and when I called the local office I was told they would be in touch. I also called the corporate office and left a message for "Roshanda" and no phone call until late that afternoon from an associate. Nothing is being resolved. Updated on 01/04/2019: My previous post last month was in regards to the terrible wear of carpet only 18 months old. While someone reached out quickly and persisted in reaching me, I am not a satisfied customer. There were all kinds of manufacturer' warranty guidelines. 1. No stairs... The bulk of my carpet, say 90% was stairs. 2. Professionally clean carpet, their choice of carpet cleaners. (MY DOLLARS.) And maybe the ten percent could be considered. However, my walk in closet shows the same wear as the stairs. I declined submitting a claim. So the attempt to make me a satisfied customer was fruitless. A -for effort, F -for results.
Original Review: The carpet on two sets of stairs was installed 6/17. No pets, no kids and it looks as worn as the 28 year old carpet it replaced, with kids, heavy traffic and pets. So disappointing! Empire Today did the flooring of the kitchen okay, but they couldn't do the hallway. When the salesman came, he didn’t tell us that there might be a problem on the bottom of the flooring because there might be asbestos. They said they couldn't do the job after the workmen came two or three times. I was pretty fueled about them when you try to schedule, take off of work and cancel stuff around to give them their space to work, and then they tell you they can't do the job. But nobody would tell you that there might be a possibility before they do the work. So, I wasn’t too happy. They kept scheduling and rescheduling and saying it was done, and then they wouldn't show up.
They would cancel appointments, and they wouldn't tell us so we'd just sit there waiting for the truck. They wouldn't even call, and we'd call and speak to a supervisor, but they didn’t know what was going on and they weren’t helpful. We often leave messages with one person, and we kept that person's name. We then call five or six times, and then there's nobody to take on the call and call us. They are not courteous and the supervisors don’t call back. Overall, your experience depends on who you get. The person who did the carpeting was okay and he showed up on time. You can get somebody that's always better at their job, more honest, and more dedicated to their job. But then Empire Today hires people who are not really familiar with a lot of flooring and the difficult issues that may come about.
Kate, hanks for bringing this to our attention. The situation you’ve described is not how we expect installations to happen. We'll be reaching out to you shortly to work with you on a resolution.

We had Empire Today put carpet in our basement. They only had three carpet choices though - a dark green, which I used to have for my kitchen, a dark brown, which I already had, and the one I picked, which I wasn't too particular about but I had to have something put down. The fellows who did the installation were nice and did a good job. The carpet is nice and clean.

I have dealt with Empire Today in Luna before and had a good experience. They were faster than the other brands. I didn’t have to wait six weeks for them to come and measure. I also didn’t have to wait six weeks for them to come install. The carpet was for a rental property, so I couldn't leave it open for six months waiting on the carpet dudes. Empire installed the carpet in the family room and the installers were fantastic. The carpet looks great. The couple vacuums I did on it before the tenants were fine. In our other units, the similar carpeting is holding up great, so we're good.

I got my carpet from Empire Today because they had an A+ Better Business Bureau rating. I dealt with two different sets of people. There was the guy who came where I had to select the type of carpet I wanted, and then the installers. They were great. They worked hard and made sure I was happy. They didn't piss around and I'm extremely satisfied. I would tell friends to go to Empire.

I’ve been having quite a bit of work done around here and Empire was good with the carpet installation. It was better than what I had before, especially when it came to the stairs. I was impressed with how they did the stairs. Their professionalism was good too. I stayed out of their way and they stayed out of mine. They did a good job and I’ll recommend them. In fact, I recommended them to the lady across the street from me. I’m also working on trying to get one room cleared out so I can call Empire again.

I had a great experience with Empire. Their pricing was better than the other companies, and their salespeople were very knowledgeable. We had the tile and the carpet installed. Everything went right on time. They got done pretty good. They came back because my husband had a issue with a part of the tile, and the way our house was built, it wouldn't do. They gave us a credit then, so it worked out perfectly. Other than that, it went very nicely. Everything was fantastic at my house, so I refer Empire a lot.

Avoid Empire Today at all costs if you expect to have a warranty! I have laminate flooring from them that is supposed to have a lifetime warranty but after 6 years it is delaminating in multiple rooms and the laminate planks are also separating from each other. I cannot get anyone to respond from the Seattle office unless I reach out to the corporate office on Facebook.
After a month of persistence (5 calls, 4 emails to the customer service manager in Seattle which were never responded to and 2 FB posts) I was finally able to speak to another customer service manager who told me based on 1 picture of the delamination she saw on FB my floors were not covered because it was water damage. Then she told me it could have been because of a dropped ice cube or visiting dog peeing in my house. After I explained that, that was not possible because the issues were in every room with laminate flooring. I was told that did not matter. I was then told I could provide pictures of damage from under furniture and they would consider reviewing the issue.
I would have to provide pictures of planks from under furniture showing the same damage. After moving furniture and sending 3 additional emails of 15 pictures (which were not responded to) showing delamination and separating planks. I have now documented 36 separate issues across my house. So it's now been over a month, 7 emails that were not responded to. 4 calls to the 1800 number, 2 FB posts and 7 calls to the Seattle. Just to get them to send an installer next year to "look" at the issues. I would never use them again!

I liked the way the laminate flooring looked and we had it installed in the front room and the hallway. The price was decent and I’d tell people to try Empire out and see what they think or get a price from them. Every price is different and it depends on what they’re looking for. The only problem I had with Empire Today was the first guys who came out. Empire Today doesn’t have their own crew so they hire people out. And the guys who came out the first time wanted the money upfront, before the job was even started. This one guy just sat his fat butt down on my chair in the kitchen. I wasn’t home and my lady was freaking out.
He kept telling her he needed the money before he could start. She called me and I talked to him. I told them no, which was common sense. Who pays somebody before the job’s done? The second guys who came out weren’t bad. But they didn't really converse. I had to ask some things and they didn’t talk to you unless you brought it up first. When I asked them how they were doing, they said, "Fine." It was really short and blunt. But they did great work.

The people who came in and installed the carpet were friendly. The people at Empire are good to work with. And so far I like the color of the carpet and the pattern they got on is really soft. You could just lay back down there and sleep. In fact, I don't let anybody walk in with their shoes on. We walk bare feet on it. I'd recommend Empire to anybody.

Our experience with Empire Today has been horrible from the salesperson to current issues. The salesperson was VERY pushy and tried using high pressure tactics, we had the salesperson here on a Friday and he kept making prices saying they were only good if we had them install the next day. We agreed to what we wanted because they did have a good price even though we couldn't wait for the salesperson to leave our home. We paid instantly with a debit card and they were to come the next morning to do the install and were promised they would send a couple to move all the furniture and put it back and we were promised they could do our stairs to match how they already are which is 3/4 of the center covered and the wood showing off each side and seamed on the edges.
Next morning: Installer arrives and has no help aside from his young son who was probably about 10 years old I would guess and I informed him that I was not supposed to be moving furniture due to four shoulder surgeries and that he needed more help so that was the first issue. Second issue is he looks at the stairs and tells us that he does not have the correct carpet on the truck to make them like they are currently and that he would have to fully cover them or fold the edges and staple the carpet to the stairs and we would see the staples and the edges would be bulked up and look bad so I told him if they couldn't do them like we were promised then we wanted a refund and we would find a company that could.
So, he made a phone call and spoke to someone in Spanish so he THOUGHT we couldn't understand! Well...that didn't work well for them and we called Empire ourselves and informed them of the issue and we were told that they could do the main carpet that day and he had to submit a ticket to figure out the stairs that would take 2-4 business days and I told him that was not an option and I asked for a manager.
Next up I get a floor manager and explained it again and I was assured that they could cut the carpet as a runner, have it seamed on the sides to match what we have and they would have to install it on another day and I told him my only issue with that was that means I would have to miss a day's work to be here for a 2nd install which means I lose money and makes the carpet more expensive. So he offered me a 50.00 credit which I refused and told him I make 20.00 an hour and I work 10 hour shifts so he finally agreed to a 200.00 credit and told me the credit would be done within a couple days and that we would receive a call within 24 hours about rescheduling to have the stairs completed which I agreed to and is the only reason we agreed to let them do the main install that day which was a mistake on our end for trusting them!
The man installed my carpet and he did do a great job and we are happy with it and we thanked him and informed him that he was not the one we were upset with as it was not his fault. And before he left he measured the length and width they needed to do the stairs to have the runner made. After two days we did not receive any calls about rescheduling for the stairs so I called Empire and explained the situation and I was put on a very long hold then suddenly I get a recording from a dispatch center that they were not available...talk about mad! Next I call them back and have to explain to another person about the issue who was very nice, she listened to my explanation of the issue and then she told me because it was a few minutes past 5 pm she could not pass it on to the office. She needed to and assured me it would be escalated to the correct people and we would receive a call within 24 hours.
Well, guess what...not until the 2nd day and they informed my wife that they could not make stair runners and we could either let them cover the entire stairs or they would refund the amount for the stairs which was 50.00 on their buy a room and get a room for 50.00. So what they are really trying to do is get out of the entire thing and only refund us 50.00 vs 200.00 as promised. Needless to say my wife told them no to both and told them she would have myself call them which I did today which is exactly 7 days since initial install.
Today's conversation consisted of being transferred to a manager by the first person that answered, the manager again told me that they could not make the stair runner as we had been promised by the salesperson and two other people and that they would have to cover the entire stairs or they could refund us the 50.00 from their promotion! Needless to say I told him that was not a viable option because if I have to have another company come do it they will charge 700 to 800 dollars AND I still have to miss another day's work. If we have to have another company do the stairs they can't match Empire's carpet and now the stairs won't match the main carpet and will look bad and that was not going to happen. And if they couldnt install what was promised we wanted a FULL REFUND so that we can hire another company to come do the entire job correctly and have matching carpet.
And I expressed my total dissatisfaction with them from the salesperson right up to the current call and that they have lied to us from the beginning and said whatever they had to for us to let them do the initial install considering we wouldnt let them do the initial install until they guaranteed us they would do the stairs correctly and there were 5 people in this house including our painter that heard the entire conversation and what we were promised. To boot when I asked why we still had not seen the 200.00 credit we were already promised I was informed it was put on hold because there is still no resolution to our issue and I informed him that I was promised it would be done immediately which was a stipulation from day one of us agreeing to let them do the initial install and the manager simply didn't care.
At this point the manager told me that he had to submit the issue to corporate and that they would again *call us back within 24 hours* and I told him I was holding my breath because that's the standard promise every person from Empire we have spoke to in 7 days has told us. And that now we would be having all of our Christmas company over and our stairs are not completed as promised. I informed him that we were filing with the BBB and State Attorney's office to better ensure that they actually fix the issue to (our) satisfaction not theirs so here we are...I am filing here, the BBB and the state attorney's office and if they still do not give us a proper resolution it will go through an actual attorney and court. We will see if Empire wants to do the right thing or not at this point.
Randal, thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We'll continue to review this matter, and will follow up with you soon to discuss a resolution.

It was supposed to be buy one room, get one for $50, and I still haven’t gotten the quote on that but it cost me $360. I was a little surprised but it had to be done, so I went on along with it. They also charged me for the one with the little nails on the edging, but they didn't use it. Also, it’s like the threading is coming loose. We had a risk-free, no cost at home consultation. The salesman measured and was overall nice. Then when we started to talk numbers he became rude to my wife and I. We have ~960 sq/ft and he said it would be $4,600 (3 rooms, 1 living room, 1 stairs). We told him that we wanted to think everything over, maybe get a few other quotes and we would let him know. He told us that we would be wasting Empire's time if we didn't sign anything today and that they would be losing money. We told him we were not looking to sign anything that night and wanted to speak with our parents regarding the purchase (we are new home buyers). He asked us if our parents installed carpet, which we responded "no". And his response was "Well what good are they then". He told us he was there that night and he needed us to commit.
I asked him 3 times how long is the quote good for and he would not answer. As I looked it up before he even got there I knew it was good for 30 days. I asked if it was good for 30 days and he finally said that was true. I said, "Ok then we are all set. We can give you a call when we are ready." After 30 min of not leaving the house, telling us we needed to commit, he finally gave up and packed up. He took the quote with him. When I asked if he could leave the quote he refused and said that's not how they do business. I asked if we wanted to call tomorrow and say we wanted the work done and reference the quote how would I do that, he said he didn't know if we even could as "they are not a pizza delivery shop". When I asked again for the quote he said no he was not allowed to and there was no way we could ever reference it and Empire would send someone else out and have to re-measure the entire house again.

Also, why would the representative bring a sample of carpet, they don’t even sell anymore. So unprofessional.
So they told me to choose from my other options of carpet that I saw. They told me the installers will arrive between 1-2pm. It’s 3:30, no call or anything. So unprofessional! We have been having a hard time with this company. When we first initially set up our estimate appointment it went really well, the salesman showed up right on time which impressed me. We made the purchase and set up the install appointment. When it was set we were told it would take at least six hours so it would be an all day affair. We were told the crew would get to our house first thing in the morning and complete it all in one day. This was great for us because we have a baby at home and it was our kitchen and living room that was being done and having to hang out in a small basement all day with a baby was difficult enough.
Install day came and the crew didn’t show up till 3 that day and worked until around 8 pm and the crew said they’d be back first thing in the morning to finish. So on day 2 we get up early and it was a completely different crew that shows up but they don’t even show up till around 4. At that point I was mad that two whole days were wasted. They finally finished and the floors looked great.
Fast forward a month and a couple of the boards started to separate, a piece was coming up, and the nails in the threshold weren’t nailed in properly which we now have to keep blocked off because we have a crawling baby and nails sticking out of the floor is a HUGE problem. So we called customer service and we were given a ticket number and were told someone from the warranty department would be calling us.
We had to call to try and get in contact with the warranty company for almost a month before we finally talked to someone. We set up our appointment for today 12/19 and we’re initially given a 10 hour window just for someone to come look at what needs to be fixed which is ridiculous so we got it narrowed to a 4 hour window of between 8-12. It’s now past 12 and no one's shown up yet. Absolutely ridiculous. I love the way our floors look minus the issues we’re having. When we go to redo the rest of the floors in our house we definitely won’t be using Empire again.

I contracted Empire Today to install carpet in my upstairs after they did a fabulous job installing flooring in my downstairs. This second experience was a nightmare from the very beginning. After a string of very frustrating contacts with the company and hours of being on hold and talking to people, I was ready to just cancel the whole thing. The order was not done correctly. It took 2 different agents to come to the house to get it right, important details were overlooked, phone calls were not returned, emailed quotes promised but not sent, etc. After the 1st installers came and refused to install, I got a call from customer services offering me a price "out the door" to reschedule the appointment and not cancel. I accepted.
The 2nd set of installers laid the carpet in the street. My neighbors had a difficult time driving around it to get out of our neighborhood. They did not want to replace furniture that they had stacked in my bathroom, blocking access to that room. They left me a crooked piece of carpet as a mat. After the carpet was laid, the price they gave me did not match the price quoted me. They said they had no record of the offer. During this time there were at least 2 calls prior to the carpet being installed asking me how I liked my new carpet, and at least one after it was installed asking me when I'd like to schedule the installation. It does not seem like the different departments communicated, so it's understandable they didn't have good notes. I feel greatly taken advantage of.
I have contacted them repeatedly about the price and a repair to the job. They have told me they will call in a couple days to make an appointment to replace the mat and repair an area on the stair. That hasn't happened. The carpet was laid at the beginning of September. It is now mid December. I am very unhappy with this company and would not recommend them or use them again because their service is inconsistent, and they do not follow up on problems.

Horrible customer customer...horrible installation and unable to get help from anyone on a higher level. I’m interviewing Attorneys. It has been a nightmare.
Maria, it’s disappointing to hear about the issues you had with your installation. We’ll be following up with you shortly to work with you towards a resolution.

We had Empire Today install laminate flooring throughout the whole house, except in the dining room and the kitchen. A friend had told me about them. Everything worked out fine with the reps. The installation didn’t take that long, but the installers didn’t change the molding around the wall and just added more to it. But the new flooring met our expectations.

The guy from Empire Today who sold me the flooring did everything fine. I financed it and I thought it was a done deal but he said that they require 10% down that time. I had it but he should have been more upfront with it. Still, I had somebody install the flooring thereafter and I like it so far. It looks good. I recommend Empire Today.

I had laminate flooring installed in my living room and I love the floor. Empire's reps were very good and helpful too. I had to make a couple of changes to the schedule and they were very accommodating. However, they sent the wrong color of the quarter round, so the installers had to come back at a later time to do that. Other than that, I'm extremely satisfied. The installers came when they were supposed to and they did the job very quickly. They were very good.

We went to a couple of different places before we chose Empire Today. When the guys came, we asked about the furniture and the placement. They explained to us how they would move everything and what would happen. They were very nice and they gave us all the information. When we came back, they asked us if we had any more questions and they answered them. It was great interacting with them. We got a brown carpet for the two bedrooms, the hallway and the living room. We were happy with our experience with Empire.

I asked my wife what she wanted for Christmas and she said she wanted carpeting in our dining and living rooms. The only name that I could think of back then was Empire Today, so I had them do the job. Mike was the salesman I worked with and I highly recommend him. I was impressed by his attitude, kindness, and willingness to help. If I, in the future, am gonna have a couple of other rooms in our house carpeted as well, I would want the same crew that installed the carpet in our dining and living rooms to do it.

My sister used Empire Today and she referred me. I had carpeting installed in the bedrooms, living room, and stairs of my home. What I got is better than the carpet that I used to have. However, their installers were supposed to come back and put down the strip between the hardwood and tile. They said they would do it for me but they never showed up and I haven't heard anything else from less than three or four weeks ago.

I had a flood under my kitchen sink and it took a lot of my parquet floors out. It also ruined the wall and the carpet in my basement. But my insurance company didn’t wanna pay for anything and I couldn’t afford to put new floors in there. So I got the 12-inch square Congoleum tiles from Empire Today. But I was happy with them. There were two guys and two girls who came out. They were out there for two days and they were very nice, polite and very respectful of my house. They installed the product in the kitchen, the downstairs bath, the hallway and the breakfast nook. And they did an excellent job except for two little bitty things.
They didn't put on the metal strip that goes between the floor and my steps down to my basement. It's there but they didn’t nail it down and I don’t know how to do that. I was thinking about calling about that. Also, they didn’t put back the board that they had taken off in front of my sink. They just put it under the sink. But I'll go ahead and have it done because I am thinking about calling Empire again. The kitchen flooring is not the type of wood floors it's supposed to have. The kitchen is already screwed up. So I am thinking about using Empire for my family room because I wanna sell the house.

Empire offered me a good deal, and it worked out. I had great interactions with their customer service team. They listened to me and they did exactly what they were supposed to do. They were kind and they did a good job. The people who did the flooring did well too. I’ve gotten the same product, but at two different times in two separate parts of my house. I had carpet installed and I loved the first product so I went back. I actually saw three different groups of installers, and they were all kind. They did a professional job.
When I got some carpet, I didn’t get my tile done. I’m getting it done on Saturday. However, I’m really upset with everybody on my tile situation. Empire told me the height of my floor is going to change, so where the toilet meets the wall, the piping is not gonna be the same. I don’t understand why this giant company is not prepared for situations like that. I obviously don’t know that the floor is gonna rise with just a pretty tile that I picked.
Apparently, I had to have a plumber come first, to remove everything before these tile installers could do the flooring. The installers are gonna take my toilet out, but I have to be prepared to put it back in because the Empire people cannot. I wish somebody had told me that before because now, I also have to pay for a whole plumber to come to my house to fix that and to put the toilet back. If these installers are only in charge of one thing, then they shouldn’t be doing a bathroom at all. If they’re gonna remove something, they should be able to put it back. Now, with my bathroom situation, it’s really kind of annoying.

So you give me a 10 hour window in which you guys will be here. Promise me a call before so that way I can let you know what steps need to be taken with my kitchen, seeing as my wife was going to be there while I'm at work. No phone call. After dealing with customer care and treated like trash by 2 supervisors, I was told 12 pm they would be here and that I would receive a call from the install supervisor and 1 from the installer. (Thank GOD I didn't hold my breath.) 430 pm rolls around...still no word. No one can seem to get in touch with anyone. 530 pm...you guys grace me with a phone call "sorry you been waiting around all day, but I have some bad news..." You can't make it out today. After she waited around all day. What a friggin joke. No loyalty to longtime customers. Treated like total garbage, just for you to bail for whatever bs excuse. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. I'm supposed to hand you guys $1300???

We had carpet installed by Empire Today in the living room and dining room and they got it done faster with about the same cost compared to other brands. The first people they sent out didn't do the job because they couldn't speak English and I couldn't understand them. The guy came with his wife as a helper which was fine except that she couldn't speak any English and her clothes were very dirty. They were also acting like asking me, "So, what are we gonna do?". I wasn't gonna let them install the carpet and they left. But the second team who came was outstanding. The flooring installed was great and I liked the different colors of the carpet and the tweeds.

I was looking for a person who was close, but I couldn’t find one, so I dealt with Empire and I had linoleum installed in the basement. The flooring wasn’t the one that I was intending to buy, but when I checked with my insurance, they didn’t cover the one that I wanted. Still, our new flooring is okay.

I looked over some brands before I went with Empire and in terms of price, Empire came under the other people I was dealing with. I had the kitchen flooring installed and before they left, I showed one of the planks to them. You can see the crease but they said it would settle and be okay. They banged it with the hammer but it shouldn’t be showing. And when you look over the other part of the kitchen, you don’t see where they're connected like these two. So I'm gonna watch it for a few more weeks. If it keeps showing up, I'm gonna have to call them back. I think I was told they had a one year warranty on it.
I also looked through the papers and found that they didn’t leave me one to let me know how to take care of the floor or what to mop it with. I asked and I was told I could use some vinegar water. Then I asked about the sweepers and I was told I can use that. So I used some wet sweepers and it came out okay. All in all, Empire did a pretty good job.

Updated on 12/22/2018: After almost a year of disputing Empire Today installed the wrong floor than what I ordered and frustrated with the constant run around, I finally sent the CEO, Keith Weinberger an email. He in turn had someone call me, Tim ** which basically informed me we had already spoken. Gee I should remember that because I have spoken to over no less than 50 people with Empire Today and I stopped taking notes after 6 months - he was looking at notes that made it very easy. In this conversation he basically TOLD ME: "YOU HAVE THE CORRECT FLOOR, anything that has happened to the floors is not covered under warranty. They are considered accidents and that falls under homeowner insurance and the floor they pulled up will not be placed back without a charge because it was not a floor issue but an issue with the subfloor."
So, basically bottom line once you have a floor from Empire Today that's it. I will add, when I ordered my flooring I wanted something that would be water resistant because I have 5 grandchildren. The sales rep showed me samples based on what I wanted and I selected, so they base I have what I ordered on that, but the sales rep knowing what I wanted provided the samples that I selected from which is correct. Months later I am informed that in December 2017 the floors I wanted were not available, so the sales rep did not inform of that, just provided samples for me to select from and I did, NEVER stated But these are NOT water resistant?
So, based on that is why Empire states I have what I ordered. This is what I have been disputing for almost an entire year. And one more thing, Mr. ** proceeds to inform me the cancellation clause is 3 days after you sign the contract - but takes over 3 weeks to install. My question is how do you cancel 3 days after signing if you have not even had a installation to review - this is WRONG. Cancellation NEEDS to read - "If you find something before we can install you - you can only cancel 3 days from signing contract." When it should be 3 days after installation when you have had an opportunity to see the product - like driving a car.
How do you cancel a purchase without the opportunity to see it in place? So, based on my experience I was doomed since the day of installation - there was no going back and they had me wasting my time for almost an entire year because they were NEVER going to take care of my dispute. Empire Today was my worst NIGHTMARE EVER.
I do now understand the attitude of the Houston Managers that work for Empire Today. It starts at the TOP! No customer skills whatsoever, attitude is High and Mighty attitude and Empire Today always wins. When I said, "Is legal the only way you will provide "Customer Satisfaction"," he strongly stated, "Have your attorney contact ME in writing," and provided the corporate address? So, Empire Today NOT resolving my issue of wrong product installed. You decide if you want to deal with this type of company.
Updated on 12/19/2018: After so many months of contacting Empire Today - Ray ** contacted me to SELL ME another floor. I refused to buy anything at all - ALL I AM ASKING is they replace my floors with the product I ordered. I have received acknowledgment that they did install the wrong product but refuse to replace it, because it's been almost a year - WELL THIS IS HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN CALLING ABOUT THE PROBLEM WHICH NO ONE WILL RESPOND TO. And still have not contacted me after over a week of the phone call.
I just don't know what else to do but file a legal lawsuit, I believe I have been extremely patient in waiting on a response but like Ray said - ITS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR! Yes, that I have been waiting... seems once sold - they do not deal with you at all. Do not call them unless you plan to buy, if you do it's at your own financial loss. Has anyone read their "WARRANTY" you might want to, it does not cover anything. I was told by a sales rep to contact my home owners insurance company because warranty does not cover anything but this is what they sell you on??? DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH EMPIRE TODAY. FACT, they are not worth it.
Original Review: I called Empire Today for an estimate on water-resistant flooring December 2017, I had a sales rep come out and tell me which samples I could select from. I selected and within a few weeks my floors were installed, January 22 2018. Before the installer left I asked again - are these actually water resistant? They did not look water resistant, he replied, No, I called the next day to dispute installation for the wrong product. It is December 2018 and I have yet to get resolution, I had Ray ** call me today after months of dispute and TELL ME, only way they will come out is for a New Sale - cannot do anything about installed floors almost a year ago?
I have been calling them for 11 months, really? Not to mention he is Rude and arrogant. I have never had anyone treat this way after being ignored for a almost a year. Cardboard would have been about the same - much cheaper than the product I was sold (Not to mention NO LONGER AVAILABLE). Gee, I wonder WHY? It's the worst material ever - it's for a house no one lives in! All show. I wish I could go back in time and NEVER contacted these people.
Lesson learned, always check reviews but these people do not show you all the bad one only the good ones, if they are even real. I would love to talk to those people after one year of having the product installed! My guess, they no longer have it. And after months of being given the run around stopped. I work hard for my money and it hurts really bad to see it thrown in the garbage before my eyes. Unless you have lots of spare money and could care less on quality DO NOT CONTACT EMPIRE TODAY, I am here to tell you, you get better customer service at the Home Depot, yes, the Home Depot - believe it or not. :)
Janie, we take your concerns seriously, and we sincerely apologize for your experience. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we'll continue to follow up with you until a solution is reached, thank you.

Had vinyl flooring and carpet installed in our home. Within the first year we had to have repair to the vinyl floor 3x due to inadequate installation. The flooring lifted in different places 3 different times. The rug began to stretch and come up a year after installation. Called for repair and a installer was scheduled. I received a call the morning of the repair and was told the installer would be at my house late morning. At 12:15 pm when the installer had not yet arrived, I called for an update. No one was able to give me an update because the installer was "Not answering his phone".
After 2 more follow up phone calls, I received a phone call from the office at 1:45 pm saying the installer would be arriving in 2 hours. When I asked why I was not given the courtesy of any update, letting me know that late morning was now changed to late afternoon, the representative would not listen to my question, talking over me as I asked what the policy was and hung up on me. My recommendation, do not deal with this company. Quality of installations is very poor coupled with very poor customer service. I would never buy from Empire again.

I had an in home estimation and advised salesperson I would need to discuss with my husband before committing to having work done. He asked several times as to what would be necessary for me to sign up at that time... I repeatedly said I my husband and I would need to discuss before signing. Felt pressured into signing however salesperson advised I could cancel installation. I asked for a copy of the contract and was told he could not give me one however I could take a picture.
Several days later I called to cancel and Luis again questioned as to why. I advised that we decided to not do the work. I was transferred to Zack who at first could not find my information. Then started questioning again as to why I wanted to cancel. I told him we decided not to have the work done. Still wanted to know why and my answer was the same. Then he stated that according to the contract we did not call within the cancellation time. I advised that was not what I was told and that I am giving notification of cancellation. He then said ok and hung up.
Belinda, we never want our customers to feel this way, and we thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We'll be looking into your concerns right away.

But I had a bit of a problem with the man who took the measurements. He took the wrong measurements. The installers had a confusion then because they didn’t have enough material. They had to come back another day, and I had to keep calling them. It was crazy. But other than that, everything’s all right.
