Great salesperson who helped us assess options. We were perturbed when the installation wasn’t done when promised, and waited an extra day. Complicated by a power outage the afternoon of the installation which suspended the completion over the weekend. Once finally complete we are satisfied with the carpet and installation.

My sales guy Randy was nice of course when he was trying to make the sale. Very pushy. I decided to go with Empire. And honestly the only reason I’m giving two stars is because of the installers. Juan was amazing and his team. Nice, polite and very helpful. I was promised that the job would be done in one day by Randy. Well that was a lie and when I tried to call and confront the issue. He actually yelled at me on the phone and was made I called Corporate. Which is ridiculous and horrible customer service. I spent so much money and should not have been treated that way. So rude and unprofessional.

Got laminated floors from you. My wife and I were very excited especially with what we thought what's going to be next day installation, to find out it wasn't. I called three different times. Was told two of the three times that they were coming then the third time supervisor in customer service informed me that it wasn't. I consider strongly to cancel the entire order but because I've already ripped up all the carpet and moved all the furniture myself I didn't. Looking over the contract I never seen anything stating a discount which I was promised for doing the work myself. I'm disappointed in the sales rep and the customer service reps but the installers themselves I am very happy with. They did an awesome job. So as we move forward if ever asked would I recommend Empire I will tell them first the broken promises that were given to me before any recommendations.

Updated on 09/24/2019: It's been less than 6 months since Empire Today (or the subcontractor they provided) installed floors in my house, and the flooring is already separating in a couple places, pops due to being placed on an uneven floor, and is generally not installed correctly. I have called Empire on several occasions to remedy this issue, an was even told by one person that "we understand sir, we no longer work with the sub-contractor that installed your floors due to complaints and several incorrect installs". So lucky me, I was the very last guy to get the bad deal.

I'm writing this review to tell the rest of the story. From day one, it was obvious the floors were wrong. I've attempted to set up appointments with Empire and continue to get the run around, even as recently as last Saturday (21 Sept) regarding an inspection to see "how they were going to fix the issue" ...and then the inspector never showed up. I tell you this as fact because I LITERALLY did not leave my house all day waiting for this person. when I called the customer service line, the response was "they noted on your account there was miscommunication". UMMM, I set up an appt, you didn't show, or call, or email. The only communication problems Empire has are they continuously lie!

I am attempting to sell this property and wanted to have it on the market by now. Kinda hard to do when the floors are jacked and the installer won't do the repair work promised (and stupid me... already paid for in full). I'm not sure which way to go form here, but I think my first step is to contact my local new station and get the story of fraud, scam, and simple theft to them, then possibly retain a lawyer when all I want is the floors I've already paid for installed correctly. Just sad. Stay away form Empire Today in Newport News Va. unless you want new floors and a minimum of 6 months worth of hassle when the install goes wrong!

Updated on 06/03/2019: So here it is, 2:45 on Monday, and I’m still waiting on a call! After a horrific series of events (in my last review), I was called Friday, 31 May, and told that “someone would be contacting me Monday to see what could be do to rectify the situation”. Well, it’s Monday, and as expected, here I sit.... And just to add to the insult, I canceled my carpet install with Empire and have not received a refund yet, so not only is my house half finished, I haven’t received the funds I paid to Empire back to my account to be able to find another company to do what I hired them to do in the first place!!! Ever felt like you’re being intentionally given the runaround??? No? Have EMIPRE install flooring for you! You will!!!

Original Review: Yesterday (5/29) was day #1 of install on new flooring in my entire downstairs and carpet upstairs, and it has not gone well!!!! During the consult with the salesman, I asked for baseboards to be replaced and in one room that was recently dry walled, new baseboards be installed. In lieu of baseboards, 1/4 round was brought to the job site, and when I asked about the mistake, I was told “it’s not in the contract”. I also informed the salesman that I was not able to be at the house during install and asked if this would be a problem. Two weeks in advance I was assured by him, the two people that called to confirm the appointment it was not and all I needed to do was give the installer the code to my front door. Of course the day of installation, they were going to cancel, but I assured them I was 100 ok with it. I regret that now.

I ended up leaving work and going to check on the progress, where I found my front door and every window in the downstairs wide open and my AC STILL RUNNING (it was 98 degrees in Virginia Beach that day) and the installer (who’s sub contracted through Empire) laying the flooring in the wrong direction (i.e. not parallel with the longest run of wall). Immediately I call Empire and after talking to 3 different people, they finally sent someone out to check (an installation manager). He calls me and his exact words were “well to switch directions is going to cost more money due to wasted product” and that they “didn’t have anyone in stock so it was going to delay finishing so it might be best to just transition to that direction in another room, if that’s what I wanted”!

Eventually after threatening to cancel the entire project they agreed to install the floor in the correct direction, however, after they left, I started to notice that it looks like the trimmed /cut pieces were reused, and now the plank joints are not staggered correctly (i.e. there is as little as 1” between plank joints in a few locations and several less than 4 inches on a 48” plank, while at the same time there are multiple joints staggered with over 6-8”!!!)

During the sales pitch I informed the salesman I wanted the tile in the foyer and hallway to the laundry removed. The installers did JUST THAT and in the process crammed broken thinset and timepieces under the pocket door to my 1/2 bath to the point that it will no longer slide.... and installed the floors right around it! Not to mention MULTIPLE spots where slivers of flooring were “installed” to make it to the existing baseboards, not under... just up to! (By the way, the baseboards were carved up by the installers with the scraper they used to remove the tile, which was kinda why I wanted new ones installed!!!)

On top of all that, the installers moved my couch (out to the yard, and apparently had to take one of the legs off, stripping out the screws that help it on) and coffee table (dropping my tv, surround sound and cable box remotes as well as my ceiling fan remote which controls speed and the light. The ceiling fan remote no longer works) and DROVE THEIR VAN ONTO MY FRONT YARD, not once, but twice, without letting me know/asking if it was ok, which left huge ruts in the yard.

Today (5/30), I called the installer, informed them they were not allowed back inside without someone from Empire there to inspect first. They said they would have someone call. Nothing.... I called Empire (and after cancelling the carpet install set for next week) I told them I wanted someone to come to my house to inspect the work and tell me if this was the standard Empire was ok with. With attitude, the installation manager said, “well, we’ll get out there today, but I have no idea what time” so right now NOTHING is being done to finish this project, and my washer and dryer are currently in my kitchen (to facilitate installation) so I can neither cook dinner or do laundry!

I’m current waiting to hear back from Empire, and I’m hoping the canned responses to these reviews aren’t just lip service, that Empire actually does care, and will correct this issue promptly, because my next course of action is to call the local tv news and let them know how the public, and in this case, a retired military vet, is being scammed out of 9500$.

Empire Today has been around for a long time and I trusted them for that longevity. Their reps were very good, very professional and very fast. It was quite a nice experience until a couple of days ago. There were four edges in a strip that went across the bathroom. They put down two pieces and didn’t nail it down, so it was catching my foot when I went to the bathroom. But everybody makes a mistake. It’s how you handle the mistake, and they handled it perfectly. The guys came back and put down a new strip. And we were laughing. It wasn’t really a huge issue to me because they handled it.

My wife was looking at different carpets and different things and seeing the price. And the guy from Empire came out and explained the differences, and they could do it in our time frame. They have good, better, and best-type stuff. And we went with not the low, not the medium, but kind of in between what we wanted and the purpose we needed, and it worked out perfectly. I like that it is spill-resistant and the warranty on it is great. We’ve had a lot of people that had been over at the house, and they like the carpet as well. Empire Today was awesome. It was a great experience for us. The salesman was easy to talk to and was great.

As a loyal customer of Empire, I was very disappointed by the way you dealt with my hardwood floor project. In January, the salesman from your store gave us an estimate. We were not ready to begin work at that time but after a few months we called again & Empire sent another salesman Harold **, who gave us an estimate, which was not in line with the original estimate. Then we negotiated a price including the subfloor installation, which was recorded online, & I was assured as the final price. However, later, it was overturned because of Harold’s interference with the original agreed price. We agreed on a price & installation was scheduled on Tuesday April 30th but they delayed 1 day & came with WRONG wood. By the time I have submitted an complaints to customer service. After waiting another 2 weeks, Empire sent new installers who did not know the plan of our floor & wanted to charge us extra!

I have tried to calling and texted, Harold never replied my text or phone call. In the meantime, I had called customer service & requested compensation for my inconvenience & customer service reviewed it for several days & approved a credit, which was adjusted, & I had paid the agreed amount. After 2 days, Harold called aggressive & asking to me to pay the adjusted amount and if not threatening to send my account to collection. I called again to customer service and by the time they changed the entire story and I paid the adjusted amount. Kevin the installer was excellent and took care of the installation with high marks. I would like to Empire to investigate and would like get a written explanation what happened in here. And if I were entitled to get compensation, would like to get it.

Everything with Empire Today went great. This is the third time that I have employed Empire Today to do flooring work for me. And every time, I've been satisfied with their work, so every time I have a new need, I call them back for more. The first time that I dealt with them, I shopped around, and it seemed like they had the best deal. But after the work that I got the first time, every other time that I've had a need for flooring, I go straight to Empire now. This time, we had them install carpet in our family room. I just needed one room to be recarpeted. Their rep brought everything in, and Empire had probably 15 displays that we looked through, and we settled up on what we wanted probably within 10 minutes. They came out within a couple of hours, and the job was done, and it came out fantastically. It looks good. I like the way it looks.

There wasn't any problem with the contractor. I felt bad for him because it was raining that day. Even though it was a little bit more difficult for him, he went out of his way to go through my garage and then through the house to make sure to protect the carpet from getting wet from the rain. I know there's a lot easier way to get into the house than what he did, but he made sure he did a good job keeping everything as the best condition that he could. So, I gave him a lot of credit for that. When he was finished, he went through and finished up the paperwork in the final inspection. The quality of the work done was excellent. If my friends will ask me about Empire Today, I'm gonna give them a high recommendation and I'm gonna tell them that they should go through and use the company if they have the need.

I had an Empire representative come out to quote me a price for wood laminate flooring in 3 bedrooms. He came on time, showed my family and I samples, we chose the one we liked and got down to business. I told him I wanted to finance and he said, "No problem." He made phone calls, crunched numbers (we weren't shy about asking for discounts my husband being a Veteran), and when he hung up he told us we got it. I said, "GREAT! How soon can we get this done?" The installers came bright and early two days later and did an absolutely perfect job. I wait for my first bill and in the mail comes, what I assume, is the bill. Instead it's a letter from Empire telling me I owe them $2900.... apparently, more than half the total amount!

I call them and tell them they've made a mistake. I told them I financed the entire amount so I owe the finance company and I hadn't yet gotten their bill. The person I spoke to said she didn't know anything about it and I owe this money payable in full. I told her that isn't what I agreed to and she just said OK. Since then I've gotten three letters in the mail and the last was a letter informing me that my account is about to be sent to collections. I'm furious about this and have, as of this writing, retained legal counsel.

I purchased the vinyl, plank wood flooring, tile, and carpet from Empire Today. There were a few bumps in the road because something got messed up between the sales and the installation. They did not realize how much space they were doing so they didn't have enough product. It took about a day longer than they said it would. But they remedied the situation and they covered what should have been in there so that was good.

The customer service dropped the ball once but they recognized it and apologized so that was nice. We said there was a scrape in the planking and they told us what to do to get that fixed and then nothing happened. I contacted somebody else and they said that that was in the system. They started to report that something was wrong but it hadn't been finished. The sales guy told us that everybody who installed was an employee of Empire and that's not true. They sent it out to LLCs so it's just another company that's coming in to do the install which is totally fine, but not what we expected because it's not what we were told.

The only thing Empire could improve on is the communication between all the different parts because when they have somebody come out to install, they're taking the payment, but then that person has to call customer service and wait sometimes a long time on hold before they can take the payment. It seemed like that was a little cumbersome. It also made the start times longer. Overall, we're totally fine with it. I probably would recommend them and we might even use them again but I'll use what I learned from this first experience. Altogether, it was not unpleasant. I want that impression. They fixed the things that went wrong.

I purchased the laminate wood floor for my first floor and new carpet, the best carpet I had, for my upstairs. I checked with Empire Today first and I did get another quote from Lowe’s. It was really out-of-control price so we went with Empire Today. I had a great experience with my sales guy. He was very nice. He told me that I’d have to remove the toilet so I had that done. But when the guys came to do the wood floor, they told me I also had to remove my pedestal sink. It would've been nice if I knew that. I had it rushed and got somebody to my house to remove that or they weren’t gonna put my flooring on the day they arrived. That was a little disheartening. I called my guy and told him about it and he was sorry.

The guys that did the hardwood floor were fabulous but they showed up with not enough product to do my home that morning. They were short of like six boxes. It might’ve been better if they had a little bit better communication with the warehouse so they knew what they were bringing to my house. That was the only negative. And the thing that upset me with my salesman is he said they should have had the product because I made these arrangements two months ago.

Other than that, everything was great. Even the guy that did my rug was fabulous too. He was really good. His team was great to do the rug. The rug guys were out of my house by noon while the poor guys were there until 7:00 that night and had to come back Monday with the rest of my flooring. They were embarrassed and upset. They were really sorry. They made sure that they came back that Monday. They called me when they were five minutes out. I left work and went right to the house. They were done in two hours just as they told me. They did a great job. They put all my furniture back. They worked straight through lunch. I kept trying to offer them water and they said, “No, no, no. We’re good.” They got as much as they could get done. They cleaned everything up before they left. I’m very happy with everything Empire Today did.

So we got them do the carpet in the living room when my husband spilled some water and let mildew in the carpet. We thought we could just get that spot done, but then when the guys came out, they said they couldn’t just do that spot. They would have to do the whole floor. At first, I really didn’t like the way Empire left the spot where you come in the front door sticking up. So I called them and someone came out and fixed it. We are satisfied with the carpet itself. I knew what I wanted, and it was just a matter of picking out the right color and trim. The salesman was great in making the presentation and knowing what I wanted. He got me pointed in the right direction, what options were available, what would be good for a tenant's space, etc. The installers were terrific. They knew exactly what needed to be done. Until they started taking the old stuff up, we didn't know if we were gonna have a problem with it, and we did. So, we planned for that in advance with the salesman and we were ready for it. The installers adjusted accordingly and went out and got the material they needed. They were very considerate, very accommodating and very courteous. They had a lot of work to do in there. Now the flooring looks good and the tenants love it. It was a very good experience.

I had a 44-ounce carpeting installed in our house, and we chose Empire since we needed to re-carpet the whole thing. Plus their cost and quality was better all the way around. In addition to the cost, the salesman was really good, Chris laid out all the options, and I liked the way he presented everything. He was really professional. I had a little issue when the installers broke the wooden threshold, but they came in and fixed them. I've referred my neighbor across the street to use Empire too.

Wish I would have come here before hiring this company. My life has been one disaster after another with them. After they make the sale, there is no such thing as customer service with this company. I think they mess things up on purpose to wear you out so that you stop ever trying to get any customer service from this company.

I had laminate and carpet installed from them. Nothing from the minute they walked into my house was right. Didn't have the right amount of laminate. One installer had to drive 1 1/2 back to warehouse before it closed to get more, and then drive the 1 1/2 back plus the time he spent at the warehouse. That left them down an installer for 4 hrs. My install went on till 8:30pm that night, from 8am that morning. Should not have taken that long but one whole man down, the other guy could not do it.

This could go on forever but I will condense. Next carpet guys did not bring out the matching quarter round I had asked customer service to add to my bill. Customer service when called said, "Yes we see the order but we thought that was for the laminate?" DUH!! Ask questions why would that be on the order when the quarter round comes with the laminate? Let's see, then there was the fact that I could not tell why all my rooms had pieced together carpeting when my rooms are well under the width of the carpeting installed. Customer service was baffled by this question also! But, that was that.

Also was not told that the carpet installers would be ripping out all my quarter round. I was told "If by chance they broke a piece of quarter round, or accidentally pulled one off they would not replace it." Does that sound like I should have known they were going to pull off ALL of my quarter round? Called customer service again because I felt the places where they seamed the carpet together was not done right. It looks like it is puckering together and coming up. 2 months later I finally got them to have someone come out, well...actually that is still to be seen.

7am of the repair day, (as they call it) they call to say installer on his way, will be at my house in 1 to 2 hours. 3 1/2 hours later they call and leave a message that the installer is on the side of the road somewhere with tire trouble and will try to make it to me later in the day or I could set another appointment! Did I already say that it took 2 months to get this appointment because I was not going to take another day off a work for their screw up and needed a Saturday appointment. Of course when you call back the number they give you on a Saturday, no one answers. So, I have no idea if the installer will come out today or not. So, I will sit on my butt all day and wait for Empire Today to fail me once again. To be continued...

I researched about four companies, even independent contractors, but I had a little problem. I live in a condo and the concrete was kinda cracked right near my slider. I even showed them where a few of the people in the building made like a step to go outside onto the patio. One company said they’d do it for carpeting but they didn’t wanna do the laminate flooring. It was their attitude too. They were persistent on trying to sell me the carpet for the living room but I didn’t want it. When I called Empire, they came out and said it was no problem. The price was about $400 cheaper and they did it. I didn’t even need the step there. They were so good. In fact, everything was really good, right down from the woman who came and took the measurements. She knew her stuff and I felt really comfortable with her.

The crew that came in was unbelievable. There were three of them and they were so good. In fact, it was supposed to take two days but they did it in one. They stopped for maybe half an hour for lunch and that was it. They kept trucking on. I had the two bedrooms, a little hallway, and the living room done – everything but the kitchen. They worked really hard. The contractor's name was Ray. That's who the guys worked for and he was really good too. He was in contact with me all of that day to explain to me about the concrete.

Going from carpet to flooring, it was a little slippery. But it is much easier to clean than the carpet. I was vacuuming every other day then. The laminate also makes my condo look even bigger and I love the color. I love everything about it, really. Two people on my floor came in and took a look at it, and I gave them the number to call. The girl downstairs had also used Empire Today and I had seen it beforehand. She was very happy with them as well.

Empire did everything. They were nice, they brought things to the house and they showed us everything. We're not able to go out and look at these things in different stores that's why we chose them. They installed laminate flooring in five bedrooms and a foyer. The quality of work performed by the four installers on the first day was excellent. However, they put white quarter-inch molding all around in all the rooms and they never asked me about it. I told them that they're supposed to be putting oak quarter round, I didn't want that white so the next day, the guy came back and redid it. He had to remove the bookcases and book things again that was against the wall that they put back. When he came in, he said he would be finished in an hour and a half but he was finished in five hours. It was just really time-consuming and draining. He did a good job of putting the molding in though.

The installers also didn't clean up after themselves 'cause they had to cut doors down. It took me four days to get all that sawdust up. They wrote me a little thing, "Just go to Home Depot and buy this stuff and you can clean the floors." I was upset with that. Thn my biggest concern was that the salesman kept changing the amount of money. He was not clear on any of the things. He drove me crazy and he wanted an answer that day. I thought it was under $9,000. I figured $2,000 a room, that would be good, and less with the foyer 'cause I thought they were going through 59 boxes of the laminate. The salesman forgot to add tax and he then added it. The price wound up to be $9,900 and I don't know why. I gave him two checks and I don't even know what they're for.

Another thing, I had wanted to have shades put in in my family room and the salesman said okay so he took all of the information down. The man came out, he measured, and that was the last I've seen him. No more shades and I didn't hear from anybody. That's a big project too because that was $1,200. But I love the new flooring. The color is beautiful and I'm hoping that it does what it's supposed to be, no scratches, no water damage. So far, it works.

The carpet was coming up all around the edges of the floors, the carpet on the steps was not secured and I had to speak to customer service for them, because they could not speak English. I called the person that set up the job and he never called back. I called Empire and they eventually sent someone out to inspect it. This person took all kinds of pictures and said he would call me no later than next day, finally called 2 weeks later.

Empire sent someone out to correct the issues. This person was good. He fixed all around the edges, but said he could not fix the steps. Said they had to be replaced. He even commented, "This is the worst job I have ever seen." He noted on his worksheet that steps need torn out and reinstalled. A month went by and I still did not hear from them. I recently called them and asked them to reimburse me for the steps and they refused. This has been going on since November 2018 and the issues are still not all resolved.

We were getting new carpet I. Our living room & hallway. We received a call at 8:33am, stating the installers were at job and we would be next. They arrived at 5:40pm. When they arrived they were extremely tired, which we understand. They asked us what type of carpet we were getting. We didn’t know the name of it, that should be on the paperwork, and you shouldn’t bring a 1x1 piece in to the customer's home asking if that’s it.

They did not have all the material for our home either. They were supposed to replace the carpet transition strips. The one guy was using a wonder bar to take off our existing ones, which of course bent them. If you are reusing what is already there because you don’t have the material, how about NOT damaging it. Then I have a deep cut in the carpet between my middle bedroom and hallway. Then the installers took their tools and left. They NEVER installed the carpet. I called Empire and I was put on hold twice and then hung up on. Wow what customer service. The salesman was super nice. Very frustrating and still did not get resolution.

It wasn’t the one that we wanted, but it blends in better with the hallway and everything. Also, the border that they used sucks, but I never said anything because some of it looks good. I had to put tape down from the kitchen into the front room because I cut my foot open. I got caught on the wood, so we put tape down there. But other than that, it’s very nice. I’m very satisfied. Another company was gonna do it and then I got disgusted with them. I had to do everything for them. And that was when I found Empire on the TV, and I called them. We had hardwood floors installed in our living room next to existing hardwood floor in our kitchen and entryway. During the consultation, we made it abundantly clear that we wanted a seamless look between the two rooms, as there is no wall separating them. They assured us that they could make that happen. Upon arrival for the installation, we were told that they could not remove the threshold between the two rooms, but they could still give it a seamless look. I'm still not sure why the threshold had to stay, but at any rate, we decided that would be okay as long as they matched up the boards. See photo for what it looks like. They did not even try to to line up the boards! It would have been so easy, but they started on the opposite side of the room from where the existing floor was started, so the boards don't line up at all. We are left with a very defined split between our very open kitchen/living room.

This is completely unacceptable, and way below industry standards. Everyone I have asked has been appalled and said that even a non-professional would know to line up the new boards with the existing boards. We are very disappointed and now stuck with an issue that will affect the resale of our home. We were trying to add value and we got an eyesore instead.

I met with a salesperson, described what I wanted, and put down a deposit. Although I wanted solid hardwood, I agreed to engineered hardwood. Later in reviewing the contract I realized that she had written it up for a floating floor when I had requested nail-down or glue-down. The major difficulty was finding a product that could both cover the floors and also do my stairs. When I called to bring that to her attention she stated it would add $3000 to the cost. I then requested another salesperson to come out, this time to show me the product I had originally requested (solid hardwood.) In the meantime I pulled up the carpet on the stairs and found good quality wood that just needs staining and refinishing. The salesperson had never bothered to check.

A new salesperson came out. He only showed me one sample set. I asked about 5” width samples and he said “Oh those are exotics and cost too much.”

I picked a 3 1/2” sample reluctantly while the salesperson fielded a phone call during which he said “I’ll be able to get right out of here to my next call.” He had been in my house for 15 minutes. He said I would get a call with the estimate today. I had requested not to have any further contact with the first salesperson because I feel she had pushed me into something I didn’t want and wasn’t listening to my requests. There was also an issue about wall base. I don’t want quarter-round, I want new wall base installed over the new floor. She said that their installers wouldn’t do that. The salesperson yesterday said that they would!

The first salesperson called the next and wanted to come to my house with the new estimate. As I said, I requested no further contact with her so this is was unacceptable situation. It’s clear the Empire wants to get any kind of floor in my house whether I like it or not. I am beyond exasperated and finally called the management team and cancelled the whole project. Needless to say I lost an $1800 deposit.

I waited until 5:55 and called back again, again they tried to reach the installers and they did not pick up. At this point you can imagine my frustration. I asked what he was going to do my to fix this. He offered 10% off, and couldn't even guarantee that I would be placed as a priority for tomorrow morning.

I requested a phone call from the install department first thing in the morning since that department was closed for the day. I then texted my sales guy to tell him what was going on and to see if he could help in any way. He said he was going to email his manager. This entire thing is 100% not acceptable. I made a deposit and scheduled installation with the representative for May 10. I received an automatic message that my installation was scheduled for May 6. I had to call immediately and change the appointment. I am not sure how this mistake was made. That was the first mishap.

On Friday, May 17, my first assigned installation day, I received a call from the local office that they did not have the right carpet on the truck and needed to cancel. This was the second mishap. At that point, I cleared my rooms in anticipation of the new carpet and so asked for an immediate re-schedule. I was promised the following Monday installation, May 20, my second assigned installation day.

On this second assigned installation day, they simply did not show up. They did not bother to even call to reschedule or cancel. This was the third mishap. I called the national 1-800 number who looked into the issue. The local installers lied and said that they had rescheduled with me. The was the fourth mishap. The national 1-800 assured me that I would receive an early morning appointment on the next day, May 21. However, the local installers said they had a different job today and they would try to be here later. The was the fifth mishap.

My home’s furniture has been re-arranged since last Friday and the old carpet has been removed. I would take weeks to restart this process with another company and I would have to live like this in the meantime. I have never seen this level of unprofessionalism in any company I have hired! I had carpet installed by Empire Today in three bedrooms of my house. However, their guys didn't properly install my bedroom closet sliding doors which they removed to put the flooring in. Also, there was supposed to be a lady who would show up for the job. She did not and so it was very hard to communicate as the people who showed up could not speak English. Also, Empire Today's guys were supposed to show up on a Sunday but then the guys with computer systems didn't tell the installers to be at my place. It sucked that I wasted my Sunday waiting for Empire's installers.

They apologized and scheduled somebody out the next day from 11:00 to 1:00. I told them I had work and I had to leave the house around 2 o'clock. The reps said that the job would take about an hour. I told the rep to put in the notes to make the appointment more towards 11:00 than 1:00 because I had to leave at 2:00 and I had to get ready for work. The rep told me it was no problem. Instead, their installer showed up on Monday at 1:35. So, I had to leave for work and we had to reschedule for the following day.

Also, that installer was kind of new. He said that I had to have my carpet cleaned once every year or 18 months. But then he said that he wasn't sure which one and that he would find out and let me know. He never gave me confirmation on that. While I love the carpet that was installed, the experience was rough. They hid a corner and damaged the drywall. In one of the corners where there is a metal grip that holds a drywall together, they knocked one of those loose and knocked the chip in the wall. Additionally, there were a lot of deep scratches and some of which tore the actual drywall. It was almost wrinkled and they tore the paper part. There were several complications and I didn't feel like the $50 they gave me back towards the cost was good enough. Whenever their lady called, I was at work so I didn't have a chance to communicate with her to work a better situation out.

I'm going to take care of the rest myself because I already have the paint ad the drywall mud from where I was doing all the repairs all weekend before Empire Today's guys showed up. It would have cost them a whole lot more to have somebody come out and fix all the stuff. It’d just move everything back. But they wanted to give me $50 which I feel is inconsiderate. I wouldn't recommend Empire Today. I'd tell other people to find a friend 'cause I could have gotten the same carpet and the upgraded pad for about $400 cheaper and had somebody lay it for $250. I'm really irritated about everything.

And the work that they did was phenomenal, very professional work, and they were professional in talking with us. They were very timely too. They were quick, but they were very good with their work. Even the sales rep walked us through every process and what he said was how they did it. So, it was great. Moreover, the quality of their work was very good for the price.

I hired Empire to install laminate flooring in three bedrooms. Installers started work. Ripped up old carpet in two rooms and started grinding down concrete floors. In the process they called empire and then I received a phone call from empire. They wanted 500.00 more to level floors. The woman said the salesman always says there could be an extra charge if there is a problem with the foundation concrete. Was never told anything about that to me or my wife. I told her I refuse to pay being I had known nothing about the extra and said I was calling salesman. I called him and he lied about telling us. (HE DID NOT.) He never said anything about it to me or my wife. I refused to call them back so my wife did. Girl told her she would talk to the manager. About 15 minutes later they dropped the price from 500.00 to 250.00. I still wasn’t happy about but had to pay to finish the work.

Not blaming the installers. They did a Great Job. Before they started I gave them 50.00 tip each and said do a good job. It wasn’t even Empire. They hired a sub-subcontractor to do the job. They didn’t have to call Empire. I have a guest house also on my property and was going to hire them to do flooring in guest house when tenants moved 06/31. NOT!!! Very unhappy with Empire and NEVER RECOMMEND THEM.

I got a quote for the install of various flooring products for various areas of my home several weeks ago. Sales guy was great -- personable, helpful, and worked with me to fit the install into my budget. I put a significant amount of money down as a security deposit to begin this project. We schedule the install for a week later. The installer shows up, and immediate wants full payment before even beginning the job. At this point Empire had not even approved me for financing, so he gets rude with me, and then leaves. He doesn't return. I call the office number, and after being hung up on twice, I get a hold of someone. They clear my financing application, which turns out to just be a credit card application from Wells Fargo... In any case, we reschedule for the following week.

I'm told the installers will be here by 9am. After placing a few calls that day, wondering where they're at, they arrive around 5pm to start a job that should take them most of a day to complete. I invite their lead guy in to show him the rooms and confirm my products. The rest of the team proceeds to enter my house from the front door, back door, and basement without permission -- letting out a few animals that I had consciously secured away so that they would not be a bother to the install team.

We review the rooms and products. In confirming the products for each room, we find that they do not sent with enough of some of the products, too much of some others, and for two products, they were missing completely. Installer nervously implies that they might have been accidentally used on an earlier install, and is very confused. He makes a call, comes back, and attempts to collect payment. He wants to partially start the job, and come back another day, possibly 2, to finish it. By this point I had already burned 2 vacations days just for this renovation, and I had been assured by the office that my job would be completed in a single day. I as politely as possible send them away. By this point, I simply want to cancel my order and receive back my security deposit.

Over a week later, having heard no more from Empire, I call customer service and declare my intention to cancel my order and retrieve my security deposit. I am routed to a regional sales guy. He's polite, and patient, but tries his damnedest to get me to reschedule my install. I no longer have the time to do so, and my financial priorities have recently changed. I tell him this multiple times, but the best he can do for me is offer me a discounted install, insisting that he cannot return my security deposit, though, he will waive the penalty fee for cancellation, telling me that he's really doing me a favor.

I ended the discussion, and have been trying to hound their customer support folks since. I just want my money back, and to move on. Empire appears to have a horrible reputation, which I wish I knew about before trying to work with them. This has been an atrocious experience, and I would heavily caution anyone thinking about using them for their home renovations.

They denied the amount I had paid, that I didn't include the office flooring! What a terrible experience! I have yet to receive the money paid for the laminate and Empire representatives denied that they owed me a refund for the product they failed to deliver! My advice, Find another carpet firm. Original Review: May 17, 2019

I contacted Empire because of recommendations from a family member who had carpeting installed. I recently moved into a large manufactured home and wanted to have waterproof vinyl planking installed since I have cats. The sales rep was great and very responsive to my needs so I agreed to have Empire install vinyl planking in multiple rooms. I paid close to $6000 and was very happy with the installation. They were prompt, did a wonderful job and the sales rep even left me his local number if I needed anything.

Several weeks later however, while having a disability accessible shower installed, the contractor discovered the new shower pan was a few inches narrower than the original tub and he needed a few vinyl planks to fill in the small gap. I called the sales rep who left me his phone number and left a message, but never heard back. I then called Empire directly and it took two days before I got a response. In the meantime I desperately searched other companies to locate matching planks for the contractor to install while he was still here. I was unsuccessful and the contractor had to leave without being able to fill the gap in the bathroom floor.

When I finally did speak to customer service at Empire I explained the situation fully expecting them to help me out since it was a very small request and my floor installation had been done so recently. I was shocked when I was told Empire does not provide or sell additional planking after completing their jobs. I asked why they didn't leave a few extra planks from the same lot as is standard in the flooring industry and was told I purchased only what was installed and no more and they take the rest.

I then asked what my options were because I couldn't find any place that has planks to match the ones Empire installed. They said they didn't know and then advised me to not void the warranty by leaving the area open. So I was stuck!!! How in the world could this small gap be closed without the same planking??? This effectively has left me with no options. I could have tile installed, but it would ruin the continuity of the floor and I certainly can't afford to totally redo the bathroom because of such a small gap.

I am a senior on a limited income and since Empire installed my floor so recently, I feel my request is entirely reasonable especially since there is no way to obtain the same planking anywhere else. Empire was more than happy to take my money to install the floor but as I'm sadly learning, they certainly don't seem to care much about customer satisfaction once the work is done. The disability shower situation was a legitimate and unforeseen need and I am extremely disappointed with Empire's customer service. I even said I was willing to pay for the planks but was told they do not sell to the public.

Needless to say, in light of this experience I will never use Empire for any flooring needs in the future and certainly will not recommend them to others. It's truly sad when a company gets so large customer service goes into the toilet. Even if I have to pay more I think I would much prefer to use to a smaller local company that is responsive and genuinely cares about its customers.

We got carpet, laminate, and tile from Empire Today and it was a pretty good buy. I was happy with it. I like the laminate in the kitchen, and the carpet is really soft. However, it shows all kinds of footprints wherever you walk. It is so plush that it shows footprints, but that's all right. I like the floors, but I just don't like the way other things were left.

They moved a cabinet that was right beside our refrigerator, and some of the trim separated from the actual cabinet. So that was kind of frustrating. The guy said he would fix it, but then he never did. The other thing was when they were pulling the carpet up in the kitchen and also in the bathroom. When they pulled the carpet up in the kitchen, they also pulled carpeting off the baseboards and they pulled some trim off of one of my cabinets under the oven. They also did this in the bathrooms, and they just left without finishing that up. It looks real tacky. Now, it's just there and there are carpeting stuff on it. It takes away from the beautiful look of it.

Updated on 06/13/2019: I have been waiting for a MANAGER to contact me since before my job was completed. Many phone calls with promises to have a manager contact me, another review on the site with promised contact (May 15th) only to be ghosted, inquiries about contact info for corporate office with responses that no one knows how to get a hold of them. I bet if their check was messed up they would figure it out. Do not do business with Empire!

Original Review: I originally called to have the ceramic tile in my bathroom replaced. I made an appointment and the salesman came out. At that point he informed me they do not install ceramic tile, but why not tell me that when booking appointment. To make a long story short the salesman advised me they could install vinyl tile directly over my ceramic tile, no tear out, no mess. Sounded good to me so I selected a product and scheduled an installation date. They called the morning of installation and said the installers would be there between 10 and noon. The installers arrived at 2:00 and when I showed them the bathroom they looked puzzled and said they could not install over ceramic tile.

I was not a happy camper after taking a day off from work and traveling 1:45 in each direction (my daughter lives there and was out of the country). I called the office and after much discussion they promised to come the following week to do a tear out and new sub floors prior to the vinyl installation. The following week I again traveled 1:45 in each direction to be there for what I anticipated would be an early morning appointment. The installer called and said he was on his way at 10:00 am, they arrived at 2:30 pm. Upon showing them the bathroom they stated they could not install the tile over the ceramic floors, I stated, "I found that out last week, that's why you are doing a tear out and new sub floors." They stated they knew nothing about that, that they had no laun on the truck and were not prepared. They were just going to leave and I advised them that they had better get their manager on the phone before doing so.

They called their manager and explained the situation and I could hear their manager through the phone telling them to just leave! Thanks to the installers they did not listen to him and decided to stay and do the job and even went and bought the laun out of their own pockets, I'm sure later to be reimbursed. Because of the late start the installers left my home at 1:45 AM! I cleaned up and drove home 1:45 to arrive about 4:00 for 2 hours sleep before work. To sum this up it was a CLUSTER! I have called weekly asking to have a manager call me about my experience. The install was on April 8th. Every time I call I am promised a manager will get back to me by the following Monday, obviously not the case. Last week I asked for corporate office contact info and they said they are not provided with that information. Do yourself a favor, hire anybody except Empire!!!

First off, I want to start by saying we had a very good sales person come to our house and work with us on different options for our flooring needs. We chose to lay down new tile in the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as new ("durable" as he stated) carpet in our half basement. Installation went pretty well, even though they took longer than anticipated (they forgot some material and had to come back the next day to finish). So about a week after having everything finished, I was in the basement vacuuming the carpet when part of the carpet starting coming up.

Obviously something was wrong with this new "durable" carpet that I had been sold. So I call into Empire and tell them what happened. They have me send them a picture of the damaged area. A couple of days go by and finally get a callback from them saying it is not covered under warranty and they want to charge me $1,700 to replace it. They state that it is not covered under warranty because something caused it pull up and that not all carpets can be vacuumed with a standard vacuum. So to sum it all up, I have two week old carpet that is partially defective and am stuck with it. Sad thing is that I was going to have my upstairs carpet replaced in a few months and now I WILL NOT EVER use Empire again. Such a joke of a company.

On or around January 9, 2017, Empire Today installed flooring throughout my entire home. The laminate flooring installed on the stairs closest to the main level had massive gaps between the edge of the laminate plank and the stair nose molding within the first few weeks of the initial installation. Upon discovery, I immediately contacted Empire, they never returned my calls. They acknowledge receipt of my call regarding the flooring issue by sending me a letter dated February 27, 2017 to confirm receipt of my concern related to my order. The letter requested for me to contact them at 847-583-2290 ext. 2, which I did immediately upon receipt of the letter. Once again, I left several messages and nobody ever returned my calls. Needless to say, out of frustration I stopped contacting Empire and the issue was never resolved.

It's now 2 years later, the same stair nose moldings that had a gap between it and the laminate flooring on my stairs is now detaching from the stairs that were built out as well as several other stairs have gaps and the trim between the family room and kitchen has a gap between the laminate flooring and the trim as well. Some of these issues existed immediately after installation, so the care of the flooring had absolutely nothing to do with the poor work quality. For the record, I do not have any pets, small children, no excessive water, nor do we have high traffic in our home so there is no reason for these issues. I have followed their care instructions meticulously.

I called Empire Today mid-February requesting to speak with someone regarding this matter. Holly at Empire gave me a service request number, stating a supervisor would call me back within 48 hours. Needless to say, no one called me back yet again. So, I called again on March 1, 2019, spoke with Anissa who gave me another service request number. She stated a supervisor would call me back within 48 hours. She claimed the information wasn't entered correctly when I called in a few weeks prior which was the reason I never received a call back.

As of March 14, 2019, I still hadn’t received a call back so I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Chicago. By the next day, March 15, 2019 SURPRISE!!! I received a call from Kathy at Empire TODAY corporate office at 12:15pm on Friday, March 15, 2019 regarding the complaint I had filed with the Better Business Bureau of Chicago, she left a message in my voicemail. I returned her call within an hour of her leaving me a message, she NEVER returned my call. By Tuesday, March 19, 2019 since I still hadn’t received a call back, I called Kathy again at 10:51am and left another message for her to call me back. She returned my call the same day at 11:04am; she wanted to schedule an appointment for someone to come out to my home to inspect the issues I had mentioned in my complaint. We scheduled the inspection for Saturday, March 23, 2019.

Saturday, March 23, 2019, the representative from Empire TODAY came out at approximately 8am to inspect my floors and take pictures. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at 9:05am, Mandy from Empire TODAY called to let me know that she received the inspection results and pictures. She wanted to move forward with scheduling an appointment to repair the flooring. Since I was going to be out of town the two weekends to follow our conversation, we scheduled the repair appointment for April 13 between 8:00am and 6:00pm. She stated someone would call me the day before the appointment to narrow down the appointment window they would be out to make the repairs.

Friday, April 12, 2019, the day before the appointment came and of course no one called me to narrow down the appointment window, so I called them on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 2:35pm. I was told that they don’t narrow down the appointment window; someone would be out on Saturday, April 13 between 8:00am and 6:00pm.

Saturday, April 13, 2019, I called Empire TODAY at 12:15pm to get an update on the time someone would be out to repair my floors, they were not able to give me a specific time. At 4:43pm, the same day I called them back again as I had been waiting since 8:00am Saturday morning, I had not received a call nor had anyone shown up and it was close to 6:00pm. I was very upset because they gave no explanation as to why they hadn’t come out, but it was safe to say they wasn’t coming since it was nearly 5:00pm when we were having the conversation. They told me someone would call me on Monday to reschedule.

Monday, April 15, 2019 at 3:41pm, Kathy from Empire TODAY called to reschedule. She had no explanation as to why they failed to show for the appointment on April 13. I explain the Kathy that we could reschedule for the upcoming Saturday, April 20 but I needed a shorter appointment window because it wasn’t fair to me that they tied up my entire day and didn’t show nor call to let me know they were not coming. She stated she could call scheduling to set up the appointment and she would call me back.

Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 9:59 Kathy called me to confirm the NEW appointment was scheduled for Saturday, April 20. So I asked again, what time will they be out to my home because I was not going to be able to wait there all day like I did the weekend before. She said she needed to call scheduling to reconfirm the appointment window.

Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 10:24am, Kathy called and left me a voicemail message stating the NEW appointment was scheduled to be a first call for April 20, 2019 from 8:00am to 11:00am. They would call when they were on their way. Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 7:44am, I received a call from Empire TODAY’s automated system stating someone would be out to my home in 1-2 hours from receipt of the message.

Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 10:09am, 10:10am, and 10:11am I called Kathy at Empire corporate office and left her a message to let her know that it was NOW more than 2 hours after receiving the automated message and still no one from Empire had shown up. I continued to wait since it was more than 2 hours after the call; it still wasn’t 11:00am (the end of the appointment window).

Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 12:00pm and 12:02pm I called Empire TODAY again because I’m furious now that Empire has wasted my time yet again. No call or no show once again. The person I spoke with had no explanation as to why I received a first call message and nobody showed up. I requested a call back from upper management because this was unacceptable. First Empire poor work quality when the flooring was initially installed, now the company lacks competence and common courtesy when scheduling appointments and mostly valuing customers and their time.

Monday, April 22, 2019 at 3:17 I received a voicemail message and email from Julio **, Customer Service Supervisor stating, “I am reaching out concerning the missed repairs of your floor. I do apologize for the inconveniences that have occurred, please allow me to reschedule the repairs for day you are available.” I called Julio back at 3:22pm and left him a voicemail message as well as replied to his email as follows:

Monday, April 22, 2019 at 3:35pm my reply, “I just returned your call. I’m not interested in rescheduling, as your company has wasted my time 2 consecutive Saturdays. It’s very clear to me that it’s not of priority to your company. I’m not going to keep rescheduling every week until your new customer business slows down and someone finally shows up. Clearly you don’t value my time. I want my money back so I can get my floors done correctly with a company that has time to honor their product warranties. I wish your company had displayed this lack of customer value before I had any work done with your company.” Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 12:12pm Julio ** replies, “I am unable to refund the amount of your floor, I can forward your information to my manager so he can reach out to discuss your refund request.”

Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 1:16pm my reply, “I will await a call from your manager.” Friday, April 26, 2019 at 7:16am I received a voicemail message from Rob, Customer Service Manager. He was calling to see if I wanted to reschedule the appointment for the repairs. He also offered a “discount” for the inconvenience. I advised him that his “discount” was not sufficient for my inconvenience and he still couldn’t assure me that someone would show up if we rescheduled the appointment for a third time.

After all of this, still no explanation as to how two appointments were scheduled and missed by Empire TODAY. Then, they call to reschedule as if everything is ok and they didn’t just miss two appointments nor did they bother to call either. This is totally unacceptable; we spent more than $15,000 for Empire to do all of the floors in our home. I want the flooring throughout my home that is the same as the flooring that needs to be repaired to be removed and installed by another company that valued their customers, provides quality work and honors their product warranty. I initially wanted Empire to repair my floors but after all of this I want a full refund since Empire TODAY is not capable or competent enough to repair their work. It amazes me how Empire is quick to notify the Better Business Bureau each time the appointment was rescheduled as an indication that the issue had been resolved, when in fact it still hasn’t.

I’m very disappointed; Empire has been around since before I was born. I had never heard any negative issues regarding the company so I would’ve never thought to check for other customer reviews or the company’s rating on the Better Business Bureau. I’m still trying to understand how Empire TODAY has an A+ rating on the Better Business Bureau website when numerous customers have had similar issues with the company. Disappointed Customer.

I would like people to think twice before calling Empire Today. I am sorry that initially I had cancelled the order and should have stuck to that. The sales person called me back and offered me a good price and I said ok. That was a big mistake. I gave two sets of date April 23rd, 24th, 25th and May 8th, 9th and 10th. The work started on April 23rd and in between twice they ran out of product and finished their job on May 10th. The installers and contractors are ok but management need to do oversight and be more professional. Today I was looking for the product warranties, my google search came up with no such page found. Good grief.

We had a laminate Flooring install 8 years ago at the cost of 7500.00. Recently I have been going back and forth with Empire because in several areas of the floor we have buckling and warping. In the contract the floor is warranted for 30 years. Empire is telling us that they do not stock the floor anymore? So we are out of luck. I have filed a complaint with BBB, and we have been going back and forth over this issue. When the floor was installed they left a box of flooring that was extra. I requested that an installer come and put down the flooring that was left in the areas that were bad.

When this installer came he claim that the pieces we had were no good and that Empire will offer us a deal on new floor, well what about the warranty. I received a call from Empire from a lady who said she was from Corporate and someone will contact me, that was a month ago, this issue to this day is still unresolved. When Empire contacted me that wanted to charge me $125 to have an inspector come out to inspect the floor. I refused because if he works for Empire why would I pay him to come out. I sent Mandy ** photos of the floor and she decided that my damage was caused by moisture. She stated it "looks like" moisture, what home doesn't have moisture.

Another EXCUSE to not honor their warranty. Finally last week we agreed to have the installer come and put the remaining floor down that we were in possession of. Last week two guys came out and I could tell that one of the gentlemen was the inspector because of the questions he was asking. This person asked me about the cleaner I was using because the floor had a shine to it, I showed him that and he took a photo. This person told me that we did not have enough of spare flooring to cover the area that needed to be done, he left and he stated that Empire will call me. Today I received that call from Mandy ** and she stated that my damage was caused by the cleaner I have been using and it would not be covered by the warranty. Another excuse to not honor their warranty!! Shame on you Empire!!! I will be seeking legal restitution, we will let a judge decide this case.

The sales rep was very helpful in selecting a carpet for me, the color and the quality that I needed. She was very professional and very knowledgeable. She was the most helpful out of any of the consultants that has come. The installation was well done. The installers were very careful with my place, and that everything was very clean and done just perfectly. Empire Today met all of my expectations. I have recommended them to a lot of people.

The sales rep was great. He knew his stuff. The installation went fine too. The guy came in, moved my furniture, put the carpet down, and put the furniture back. He installed carpet in two bedrooms and we like the color. It was very easy to find the particular color that met our need. I already recommended Empire Today to my brother-in-law.

We called and a representative came out. We thought everything was going okay. We wanted to have our whole upstairs done in hardwood flooring. The representative took a picture of our subfloor and sent this to the company. The rep said that we had a certain type of subfloor that was acceptable for hardwoods after speaking with someone at the company. The job was supposed to be done in 1 day. HAHA.

The installers showed up and took a look at our subfloor and found that we could not have the hardwood we had picked out because of the subfloor. They simply prepped the rooms and left with no flooring done because now they had to order a floating floor for us which was okay and meant a difference in the price. They were supposed to come back the next day and did but with only one installer instead of three as was indicated to us. The installer also was supposed to do our staircase but could not because the appropriate material was not ordered for that as well.

We called him after a day of no one showing up and he said the company was supposed to call us to explain why the material was not available. They did not call us. It has now been a week and we still do not have the total flooring done on our floors and no staircase done at all. We have e-mailed the company with complaints only to get an e-mail back saying someone will be in touch.

Since I work at home and one of the rooms being floored is my office this has been a major inconvenience to say the least. We feel that the representative made too many mistakes to count and lied to us. Our house is all upside down because everything from our upstairs is now downstairs to accommodate the install. I also cannot work due to the office not being used from the flooring not being done.

We are truly sorry we called Empire to do this job and will tell everyone we know not to use them. They couldn't pay us to use them again and we had planned to do our downstairs after the upstairs was done. Actually we feel they should compensate us in some way due to the crap we have had to put up with. The only positive thing I can say about this company is that the installation team are extremely nice. DO NOT USE EMPIRE!!!!

It has been two months now and the job is still not done. The last time they brought the wrong material there was supposed to be a rescheduling. No one ever reached out and I have called several times only to be told "they will call you back" but they don't. OK, so I seen a deal on carpet installation and called a rep to come out and give me a price. We selected the "Pastry" colored carpet, for 2 living rooms, hallway, stairs and a bedroom. All the same color. Signed the contract and scheduled for install on May 5th. Well middle of April my rep calls and asks if we can do install end of April instead, they would knock some off the price. I agreed, Scheduled other appointment's on the 6th. A few days beforehand the rep calls me back, they have no installers available on the 30th of April and have to move back to the 6th. So I agree, reschedule appointments remake all arrangements I already had etc.

Well the 6th comes and I do not receive a call telling me when they will be there, so I call, get a estimated time, to which they were 30 minutes later than that which is no big deal. At this time, I have my house torn apart ready for install. The installer gives me a swatch for the carpet. I immediately notice that this is much lighter than the color I picked out. I show the installer the color I chose and they compare it to what I have and agree that it is indeed much lighter. I call my rep. He tells me to go with the next shade darker than what I wanted because the swatches sometimes look darker than they do when they arrive. ALSO they did not have enough carpet to do the job. They were short the required amount! So I agree with the darker color because nothing could be done on the 6th anyway cause they don't have enough carpet. They tell me someone will call to reschedule the next day.

Next day comes, finally at 5pm I call them to ask what is going on. I am told that they now have me scheduled on the 20th, but NO ONE ever contacted me to ask if this date was ok or not. I tell them, "No, it needs to be done sooner." So we schedule for the 9th. The 9th comes, no call on when they will show (I did receive the confirmation email stating that I was scheduled for the 9th). So finally at 2pm I call, the rep tells me that they were AGAIN short the amount of carpet and would have to reschedule. AGAIN NO ONE CALLED ME!!!!

I had purchased to furniture so it could be delivered after the carpet was installed, so that messed up all those plans. SO now, I have paid to put my daughter with a babysitter 2x at $50 a pop, plus taken 2 days off work for install without vacation time so taking a hit in pay, overall their missed appointments have cost me between $600-$700. Again I am told someone will call to reschedule, and that a "discount request" has been submitted. I should hear from someone within 24 WORKING hours. So waiting to see if I hear from them. If they think a $50 credit is going to make me happy, they have another thing coming. Sad part is, I planned on having 2 kitchens, 2 dinning rooms, and 4 more bedrooms done in the near future.

Please do yourself a favor and don't shop with Empire, no matter what the salesperson tells you or how nice/knowledgeable they are. I ordered the same color (grey) carpet for 4 bedrooms and stairs. Arranged delivery/took day off work and made day care arrangements for my dog. Installers show up with a roll of grey and a roll of beige. They blame dye-lot variation. Paperwork on their end shows the warehouse and the installer both signed for the incorrect carpet. I took a swatch of both rolls of carpet to compare to my initial order. Only the grey one was correct. Spent next 2.5 hours on phone with customer "service" and ultimately the installer manager, Rafel, who assured me they would cut all 1100 sq ft from the same roll so there would be no doubt about color mismatch or mislabeling.

Took another day off work and make day care arrangements for my dog. A new group of installers shows up with THE SAME EXACT 2 incorrect color/not what I ordered rolls from 3 days prior. I know this because the carpet swatches I took from the installers' van on day of first scheduled install MATCH EXACTLY LIKE PUZZLE PIECES. Contacted my "nice" salesperson, who said to cancel order and I should get refund. A few hours of phone calls later, Empire states NO REFUND since beyond the 3 day refund policy of signing the contract. I have no words to you other than RUN VERY FAR AWAY FROM EMPIRE and save yourself all kinds of grief.

Empire ended up emailing me offering to install all new carpet in my living room a couple of weeks ago as a Customer Satisfaction. I appreciate them for making the right decision. Carpet looks great. Guys were quick and seemed like they knew what they were doing. So we will see in a few months if any lifting or sharp edges start sticking out but as of right now I’ve walked around the edges barefoot to make sure there were no points sticking out and it seems to be good. Thank you very much Empire for fixing the problem and redoing the living room again.

    Original Review: May 9, 2019

I had Empire install new carpet in my townhouse in 2017. Unfortunately I didn't purchase a warranty but had I known that my toddler would have been injured a couple of months ago I would have. My experience with the technician was fine when the carpet was first installed until the edges of my carpet started lifting so Empire had to send out a subcontractor to fix what the technician did incorrectly. Now we are in 2019 and my son was walking on the edge of the carpet right by an end table and the tip of a nail went through his foot. So I contacted Empire's corporate office and they basically told me since I didn't have a warranty they would have to charge me 100 dollars to come out to take a look at it but can't promise that it could be fixed and they said that they don't even make my carpet any longer.

I'm furious because I don't feel as if this is just a normal wear and tear issue. I feel this is a hazard from unprofessional workmanship and should be repaired at no cost to me. Period. I spent over 600 dollars on a very small area and they can't even fix this for free as a courtesy. I'm not asking for new carpet. I'm asking for them to fix their mistake but unfortunately they don't seem to agree. So now I will have to try and figure out a way to fix it myself. I'm a single mom and can't just keep installing new carpet which they asked if I wanted to do that instead. I will never deal with Empire again. I will use any of their other competitors if I ever decide or can afford to install new carpet again. If you use Empire make sure you get the warranty because they will be of no help otherwise and the lady Angie I spoke to was very rude and not helpful at all nor was the corporate headquarters. If I could give zero stars I would.

He went over with both of us the many different options we had to choose from for installation. We made a decision and discussed payment options. We were informed that we would have to put down a deposit that day (no problem) and upon installation, begin making monthly payments (again, no problem).

When the guys came out to install the carpet today, we were informed that we would have to pay the remaining balance before services were rendered and that the only way we could have made payments was if we opened up a line of credit with Empire. Not ONE TIME was this information provided to us during our discussion with the rep the day of the estimate. I have 2 neighbors that are homeowners as well that I referred to Empire until this happened. We were misled and our money was taken because they have untrained staff. I would have paid the entire cost today... but the principle is what matters most. This was not what was discussed during our in-home estimate. Very unfortunate. Why would you set an appointment with a serious homeowner in need of flooring, send someone out, sit with them for over an hour, AND NEVER GET BACK TO THEM?!?! Like many home improvement companies, it is quite obvious that Empire Today is marketing-driven. They must pay a fortune to the company that captures their leads and follows up with them. After that, it's all downhill...

I'm a single male homeowner who had an unfortunate puff-back in my home which lead to an insurance claim. Being in sales myself, and not being the "ideal one-sit-close", I explained this to the lovely young lady on the phone that I was not able to purchase my flooring "on-the night" as I had to submit a written estimate to my insurance company. (Standard protocol with any home improvement insurance claim...) They sent out a pleasant gentleman who kind of rushed through his presentation and "ball-parked" me a price. I then repeated the fact that I needed a written estimate to my insurance company as they would not take my word as to how much the flooring would cost. He instructed me to text him my email address so he could sent it that way. I complied.

A little over a week passed by and Empire Today called me to follow up with the field visit. I explained the sequence of events and they seemed quite shocked that I hadn't heard back from the salesperson. They apologized and assured me that I would hear from him that same day with the whereabouts of my written quote. Fast forward 2 weeks later and still not a peep! Meanwhile, I am stalled on my project living with ripped up flooring. I don't know about the rest of y'all, but my money is green EVERYWHERE! I shouldn't have to beg to get my home improvement project done. Luxury vinyl tile and carpeting is available at every big-box and specialty store...and after some research, CHEAPER! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR HARD EARNED DOLLARS WITH THIS COMPANY!

We have been going back and forth with Empire on ALL the issues with our carpet installation that was done April 12, 2019. We called and informed them on April 15, 2019 of all the installation issues. We have 2 children - tacks were not hammered in therefore we all kept cutting out feet on the tacks, there were a couple seams you could easily see, there is now a large divet by the entrance to my son's bedroom that was never there before, the hallway carpet that meets the main bathroom that has ceramic tile was not put done correctly. Seems too short so we all hurt our feet because the edges of the ceramic tile are very sharp and the carpet doesn't meet the tile so the edges of the tile hurt anyone walking into the bathroom.

We had carpet in the house prior for the almost 8 yrs. I've owned the house, this was never an issue. They wanted to put a track bar over it and that to me would just look tacky so that was the one thing I told them I didn't want done. They have sent out contractors THREE times now - yesterday the last time the contractor agreed with us on all the issues and told us there is really nothing he can repair. There are too many issues with the installation so I signed my name on his paperwork adding what he had told me under my signature.

We received a call today from Empire from a very rude rep named Helen ** stating that the contractor told her that we refused to allow him to fix all the issues - that was a BLATANT lie! The only thing I refused was the metal track bar over the hallway area that meets the main bathroom. The contractor stated all the other issues including the divet by my son's room could not be repaired without doing FURTHER DAMAGE and that it would not look ok once he cuts open the carpet to repair the divet and he was not comfortable with doing so as he said it would makes things WORSE. So he said he would inform Empire of all the issues and that he couldn't repair anything else because it's beyond repair. Basically need to reinstall the carpet from start to finish but today we are being called liars saying we refused to allow him to fix anything.

WE WANT THIS FIXED!! WE HAVE BEEN PATIENTLY WAITING FOR A MONTH TO GET EVERYTHING FIXED ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS and every time a rep never comes they just send contractors that don't work for the company and they refuse to write down anything they tell us when they come out, they won't document what they are telling us. NOTHING. So we have NOTHING TO EVER GO BY. Their customer service is horrible and we hope the word is starting to get out to never do business with them, take a look at their Facebook reviews and all the reviews on here -- same story different people.

We paid 3k for carpeting. We aren't made of money and have to work hard for what we earn, took me year to be able to save up to do updates on my house and this is what we get after choosing Empire. Going to call Wells Fargo finance that we used thru them and see if I can put a fraud on the charge seeing they never installed it correctly from the start. I could go on and on about our situation with Empire. We have gotten nowhere, customer service is terrible. All you do is get the runaround and horrible installation. They got our money. That's all they care about.

All I can say is read all their reviews, it speaks volumes! Wish we did more research and read more reviews. I posted a review on Facebook and have already had 3 different customers reach out to me about their similar experiences and how Empire never fixed the problems. Just took their money. BBB will be my next step after Wells Fargo but I most definitely am going to dispute the 3k charge on my credit which I have never done in the 20 years of having credit history. Good luck to everyone who has used them and had issues and to anyone thinking of using Empire - GO ELSEWHERE BY ALL AND ANY MEANS. I am sure I will get a response to my comment saying they are sorry to hear this and would like to contact me... Been there done that, they don't care and they won't fix the issues.

As of now no one is here to complete the job and I’ve been calling Empire since Saturday complaining and I’m still in the same boat. I thought Empire stand by their word but I guess not. We had carpet installed I believe in 2011 and about a year ago I noticed a ridge down the middle of the room. I didn’t do anything about it at that time because my husband was very ill and in Hospice. After that I noticed another ridge again right down the middle of the room. I’ve since got a 3rd one. Dealing with my husband illness and his recent death I just didn’t have the time to call Empire to complain. But the other day I talked to a female rep and was told that they could come out and fix the problem but for $150.00. I’ve never seen carpet bubble up like that, I’ve got carpet in our bedrooms that’s been there since before we bought the house, we moved furniture around in the rooms and never had a problem like this.

I’ve NOT slid furniture in the family room since putting the carpet in. Just walked in it, vacuumed etc. It’s like the goop they used to help hold it down is letting loose. I don’t understand why I should have to pay to get this corrected. If it had been done correctly it wouldn’t be coming loose. I questioned the installers a couple of things but they were I guess Mexicans and didn’t understand what I was saying. They just replied “yes” or Ce. Anyway I’m making this complaint so others pay attention to their installs. The reps pressure you into buying whatever they show you not what you saw on the TV ad or what you wanted. I think the carpet is of poor quality and the installers aren’t much better.

I know I probably should have started complaining right after the install, but most people trust what the company says. DONT. Check their credentials and read what others say about them. I know 150.00 isn’t much to most people but it is to me especially now that I’m on my own and are in a very tight budget. I’m frustrated with the lady I spoke with. I don’t want to leave the carpet the way it is and have it get worse. I’m physically handicapped at this point and I pray it doesn’t get worse and end up tripping on it. But it is what it is I guess. I won’t be buying anything from Empire again. I don’t know if you can do anything for me or not but I feel this should be told whether it gets corrected or not. Thank you.

I choose Empire Today as the Company to change the carpets of my townhouse taking into consideration that was a big and prestigious Company. I trust on them because I assumed they will be serious. I bought a new laminate floor too from them, I have to say that I am very happy with that part of the transaction. My problem is with the carpet. Two small bedrooms and a master. In the house just live one senior person without pets. That carpet installation was never done properly.

In three opportunities I asked the service because the carpet was not properly stretched over the floor. Each opportunity the service stretched that carpet. And again and again the same problem. The last visit of the inspector, he admitted that the job was done improperly from the very beginning. The Installation Manager told me that just the master bedroom is still under warranty and that I have to pay $300 to repair the mistake into the two small bedrooms. For something that was done wrong from the very first time? I think that the material was short, that's why the stretching can't solve the problem. I'm very displeased. I hope the Company find a solution to that job done improperly.

I called them when I saw a commercial for a buy one, get one for $50. I know that if you don't mention a sale, you don't get it. For the commercial that I called for, I did not get the discount. I talked to somebody about it and she told me that when I had the carpet installed, the commercial that they had wasn’t in process. I felt like I was misled. The carpet Empire installed met my expectation but I’m paying too much money for it compared to the commercial.

I had Empire Today install water-resistant laminate flooring in the entire home. They had an ad on TV that said buy one room, get the others for $50, which was why I called. The rep was really nice. He said it would cost over $5,000. I said that I wasn't interested in that much money on a rental house. He asked what if he could get it cheaper for me. He tapped on his computer and said he was gonna give me a 10% discount because I was elderly. Then he acted like he was on the phone, came back and said his boss said he could get me another 20% off. He tapped on his thing and said they could get it for me for $4,600, which is what the contract says. The installers did a fantastic job. The floor's color and the way it looked after they were finished looked really good. Everything was fine, except for the price.

I have a friend who works at Home Depot. He measured the floor and got the same identical flooring. He said that top-end, it would cost $3,000 so Empire Today overcharged me by $1,500 for the flooring. That was over $1,200 per room, which are little teeny rooms. It’s just two little small bedrooms, a little hall, and then the living room, which was was not bigger than a small kitchen. I called them back a couple of weeks ago and talked to a lady. She said that I signed off on it and there was nothing she could do about it. She put me on hold and talked to someone. I told her that I'd never call Empire Today back again.

He left to get a moisture reading meter comes back 2.5 hours later puts the meter down in 10 different spots and said it’s dry. Empire informs me that they will not cover the flooring because they said water damage. I had a rug down on it for almost the whole time I had the flooring. I asked why the meter reading came back dry and they said the meter reading doesn’t matter. I’m not supposed to clean laminate floors. My sales guy said my flooring was waterproof and pet proof. I mentioned that to the guy and he said that’s only if you spill something and clean wipe it right up. The molding they put up against the floors is coming apart as well. Very unhappy and would never recommend them.

When they came to install her laminate, she was told they could not do it. She had to pick out a different flooring. Another salesperson came out a few days later and sold her a vinyl tile. That installer came and told her he could not do it & again she needed to pick out another type of flooring. Do the salespeople know what they are doing or what they are selling or is it really bad installers??

Anyway, following the last installer, no one has contacted her about rescheduling or choosing another floor. It has been two weeks and three calls. Nothing. On my last call, I was told her install was rescheduled for 5-30-19? How can that be when she hasn't picked anything out? Finally, completely frustrated, I asked for them to refund my mother. Then they transfer me & that guy doesn't want to talk to me because I am her daughter and not the customer. I said, "I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO CALL HER. I told him I want to place a formal complaint & I also had contact with some regional manager named Harold who did nothing to help, so don't bother with him. He said he would contact my mother.

On April 5, a sales representative from Empire Today came to my house to give me some ideas and an estimate of how I could redo my downstairs floors. It was to be a combination of vinyl and carpeting. The kitchen floor, which I wanted replaced, had 3 layers of prior flooring that needed to be removed before new flooring cold be laid. I was assured by the sales rep that this would not be a problem, “…they do it all the time.” Removal and prep was included in the quoted price for the entire project. While the total price for both vinyl and carpeting was much higher than I expected, I approved it as I knew the installation would be difficult.

When the contractor (not Empire agents) arrived on the appointed day to lay the vinyl, I was informed that they could not proceed because there were 3 layers of flooring that need to be removed. I explained that the sales rep included tearing up the old flooring in the project cost. Contractor said that was incorrect and, besides, the floor needed to be tested for asbestos before he could proceed. The sale rep never mentioned this. As we could not continue, the contractor left and I contacted Empire to cancel the project. I was misled by the sales rep and had to rethink the entire project.

When I called the customer service line over 100 other callers were in queue ahead of me. When the customer service rep returned my call about an hour later, he was not at all helpful. He tried to convince me not to cancel, tried to engage me in a discussion of specifically why I wanted to cancel and tried to explain why my reasons were not sufficient to cancel. I should have another sales rep come out and re-evaluate the project, he said. When I finally convinced him, somewhat demandingly, that I needed to cancel and he should not argue with me, he transferred my call a “cancellation rep”. Really?

More of the same with the cancellation rep, a man named Davon. He was rude, condescending, arrogant, and insinuated that it was my responsibility to have the floors prepped prior to new installation. I tried to explain the interaction and verbal agreement the sale rep and I had but he was not having any of it. He continually reminded me of the 3 day cancellation clause in my contract. “If you had read the contract, you would have understood this.” I explained that the deal breaker was not on my part, it was on theirs. They could not fulfill their side of the agreement. Again, he referred me back to the contract and that it was my problem if I didn’t read it or understand it. The man is totally unfit to be in a “customer service” role.

Real catch was that because I cancelled I had to forfeit my down payment of over $600.00 as the cancellation occurred more than 3 days after signing the contract. Despite the fact that the contract was breached on their side, I got stuck. Perhaps this is a $600.00 life learning experience. And the experience I would share with others is DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Misrepresentation by sales rep; rude, cold, and pecuniary customer service; a total sham. STAY AWAY.

Horrible Customer Service with no callbacks! We had LVP installed in 3 bedrooms of our new house. The floorboards were cut too short and showed the subflooring, if we spilled something it would have ruined the subflooring. When the flooring was sold to us there was no mention of quarter rounds being installed and this was not the aesthetic we were looking for. We were told "the installers do an excellent job of installing the flooring next to the original baseboards." This was not the case.

We scheduled a follow-up complaint resolution and took time off a work to ensure the work was done properly only to be told the appointment needed to be rescheduled because the installers didn't have the material necessary. Mind you, this is after we called to confirm the time the installers would be showing up. If and when we do finally receive calls back, because we called over and over and over, we are told "Oh, I'm sorry, I was out of the office." We spoke with the manager of the install department for the local San Francisco area who told us we would receive a call from her manager, now almost a week later and multiple voicemails, we have yet to hear for anyone on how they are going to make this right by us.

Each time we are told someone will follow up with us in 1 business day we have to call multiple times a day to try to get ahold of someone. This is unacceptable customer service, if you say you are going to call me back, I expect a callback, I should not have to take time out of my day to track someone down. The carpet I purchased last year is not holding up. It is suppose to be somewhat stain resistant yet you can’t even drop a little water without it staining! It also started to fray. I had to mix glue into the piece of rug material that unraveled and push it down! This is the reason I replaced the old carpet with Empire - I thought I was getting a higher end carpet. I have been trying to connect with customer service for weeks now- Twitter, email, phone calls, Instagram- now I am trying this route. Maybe they are going out of business so they do not care? It's really upsetting because I never had problems with them in years past.

My fiancé and I just bought our first house and we need new flooring in the entire house. We scheduled Empire to come the day of closing because we were so excited to get started. Well the appointment was 3-5 but the sales rep calls us at 1 and says it was more convenient for him to come now because he finished his previous appointment early and didn’t want to wait around until 3, we said, "Now won’t work. We would like to keep our originally scheduled appointment time," and he asked if we could reschedule. That’s ridiculous. So we had to reschedule for another day that week and we waited around and no one showed. We called and apparently the guy somehow got confused on what day he was supposed to show up?? So we had to reschedule YET AGAIN! It is ridiculous that we have to jump through hoops with this company. We have been looking elsewhere for flooring with all of our extra time we have gotten.

I met with a sales rep who assured me installers would remove quarter round against my baseboard before laying carpet in two rooms. Installers did not. After finally reaching customer service they admitted to the mistake and sent out another crew to address the issue. 2nd installer informed me the carpet was cut too short and could not be stretched. He then attempted to contact his supervisor for the next ten minutes to no avail. I have been unable to get a response from customer service since then.

I have reached out to the sales rep via text message repeatedly. First he stated the issue would be handled then would not respond to additional text messages. Finally he responded by telling me not to “dump” my issues onto him, questioned my integrity and character then stated the installers were not “mind readers” or “woodworkers”. I’m simply blown away.

I signed a contract for a 7000.00 dollar job that is completely unsatisfactory in two bedrooms and the sales rep asked me not to “dump” my problems on him? Buyer beware, the big box store easy finance offer is a ploy to get your signature on a contract, collect your money and forget about you. Rarely do I spend time writing a review but the way this situation was handled, (or should I say, not handled) by the sales rep was completely out of line and downright disrespectful. Funny thing is, with the large remnant the initial installers left behind, this issue could have easily been fixed weeks ago. I should have trusted my instincts and shopped local... You should too.

Omg, I should have canceled the order, shut the door and locked it the first morning Empire Today's work crew came on property. First of all, the sub sub sub contractors were very nice. However only the foreman lady spoke English. They arrived in a car. No truck for debris or tools. Another sign to shut the door now. After walking the job, the foreman left. Then demolition began. 1 carpet room, tile in the bathroom. When it came to the bathroom floor, the non English speaking crew began to remove sink and toilet, no tools, or proper tools. I lent them my tools. I placed an old rug outside the bathroom for them to place the toilet on because they did not remove all the water out of the tank etc. They did not provide any floor protection whatsoever during the entire job.

They placed the toilet on a good carpet next to the provided carpet. It gets better, check this out!!! They began to break up the ceramic tile in the bathroom with a hammer, dust and debris spewing in the air piles of broken tile everywhere. They had no trash bags, trash cans, broom, shovel nothing. I again provide tools, plenty of black construction rated bags, trash cans, shovel, broom, whatever they needed. But they could not understand me and I did not speak Portuguese, I can't even spell it. Now they are moving carpet, tiles dust through the whole length of the house on on my good floor without any protection.

I once again covered my floors with old carpet. (Thank God I did 'cause they are no good now after this job. Can't get them clean) Then the foreman returns from Home Depot. (Should have locked the door) with various tools. They never attempted to clean up after 3 days of work, I ran a vacuum and damp mop the whole house after they left. I still am finding thinset droppings. Speaking of thinset-check this out. Believe it or not. Every single bucket of unused thin set the crew dump in my grass on the wooden fence, in the water meter box anywhere. I was not able to communicate with them to stop it from happening over and over again. I now have harden thinset all over the side yard.

Yes it gets worse--when the Ceramic tile was installed, a different sub sub sub contractor did the job, a pleasant person no speak English, arrived with a new tile cutter (manual) right out of the box. (Should have locked the door) Still have the box in my yard waiting for the no show Empire Today manager. So new tool in the box, makes me wonder what kind of experience this installer has or doesn't have. Overall the job seem to go well but they did not have the proper tools, I provided a table to place their power wood cutting tools outside. The whole job seem being done by inexperienced sub sub sub contractors and the final outcome is proof. The ceramic tile is installed with the use of spacers, used to keep spacing between tiles uniform.

Spacers are removed after thinset cures, before grouting. Yes listen to this.. Omg some of the spacers were not removed completely and were grouted over. I kid you not. And immediately after grouting (wet grout) the crew used a hard coarse broom to sweep the floor and began to cut and install the molding around the wall. This action created an un smooth grout lines and the spacers that remain are sticking out of the grout lines today. Last day of the job which was the 4th day of a 3 day job, had to take another day off, the sub sub sub contractors hurried away barely a clean up, a quick review, I just wanted them out of here, so I was too nice in the final review.

I have contacted Empire Today managers and wonder if they too are sub sub sub contractors as I have not heard back from them in over a week. Must be busy following this crew on other jobs. Empire Today really needs to work on quality control and should qualify the selected contractors they send out to represent the company. No uniforms, throwing cigarette butts in customers yard, no clean up, using customers tools, flower pots, etc. I am in the business, I over see many jobs such as this daily, that what I do for a living. The worse thing a company can do is ignore a customer's concerns and make excuses as the answer. I would like this matter to be resolved as my install was March 25, 2019. Thank you for the format.

I had to get a second window measurement because of the custom sizes. I had to chase Empire down to get the 2nd window measurements appointment. Then I had to call several times to get the installation date which was set for today, April 26th. They said they would arrive between 8 am and 6 pm and I would be called on installation day to get a better time frame.

I sat at home ALL DAY, turned down notary home loan closings because I was waiting for Empire to show up. I called them at 3:00 p.m. to find out when they were coming. I was told that I would get a callback. At 5:00 p.m. I called again and after a LONG hold was told that my window coverings order had not been delivered and for me to talk to the window treatment department this coming Monday. I will be on a jury by the way on Monday.

I waited all day today (4/26/2019) for NOTHING. They didn't even initiate the call to tell me about my order not being ready. LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE. I asked to speak to a supervisor and only got the Customer Call Center Supervisor, which was useless. I have to wait to speak to the Manager of the Window Treatment Department next week. We went with Empire for an install on luxury vinyl plank flooring for our entire main level of our home. Sales guy was pretty great! He seemed honest and fair. He scheduled our install with no problem! However, he lied about how long the install would actually take. He told us 5/6 people would show up and it would take 3-4 hours. The day of install, only 2 guys showed up, and at 2pm.. and of course they weren’t able to finish the job so they had to come back the next day and it took them from 7am-12pm the filling day. We weren’t prepared for that so we had to juggle to rearrange our schedule that day. Install went great, the installers were very nice and hard working.

Then, a day later one of the rooms floor starts to bubble in several places. We called right away and tried to schedule an inspection. This is where things go crazy. Literally nobody would call us back. The sales guy went MIA, we got passed around to a bunch of different people and they kept telling us different days and THEN we finally scheduled the inspection and then they never showed up. So we called customer service, they were worthless. We finally got ahold of somebody in the local office, rescheduled the inspection and then didn’t show up a second time!

So we finally spoke to a manager, for them to reschedule the inspection and she finally came (only 1 person) to replace an entire room of flooring ... I’m so appalled that they take no blame, pass the customers off to another department and can’t be bothered to help a customer with damaged floors after only 1 day! Their customer service is absolutely terrible! Finally, somebody called me to ask if the inspector showed up. I told her yes and explained all the issues we’ve had and her response was “Ok, thanks for letting us know, just wanted to find out if she showed up”! Really?! They totally disregarded the entire situation. My husband and I are just appalled that a company can treat customers this way after spending so much money on floors!

Because of their poor work, I will need to pay $1765 out of my pocket to repair the damage they did when I just had the house painted and woodwork done 2 years ago. They want their money up front before they do the work and then the customer has NO recourse to the poor workmanship they do. I sent pictures of the damage they did and they don't care. This is piss poor customer service. # Have carpet and flooring that stands behind their work 100% and buy local, IF EMPIRE SOUNDS GOOD, THEN IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. I was NOT paid to do this review, hear me when I say the next sentence! Empire was THE BEST CHOICE EVER! I read and compared ALL 1000 reviews below mines and was SO worried to go with Empire Today because some or most of the reviews were so similar, but I experienced NONE of what these other customers went through. I compared Luna, Empire Today, Mills Carpet and another local capet installer near me. I am SUPER glad I chose Empire. Let's get into it....

    1. The installers called me 30 mins before they came and even called me (robo-called) the day before with the time frame.
    2. The installers came into my home, conducted a walkthrough before installation, showed me the carpet before installing, and told me they would move the furniture out of the way for me.
    3. Before installing the carpet, they even bolted down my subfloors so they would NOT creak or crack anymore when walking on them.
    4. Before installing they made sure I understood everything, all of this was BEFORE installing.
    5. After installation, they walked me through EACH room and made sure each corner, border and molding was met with carpet and no damages were done.

    6. After installation, they gave me a list of aftercare for my carpet and even gave me MORE staples in my steps since I have a cat that loves to scratch at my steps.

All of this was MY experience and this was after reading all those negative reviews. I went with my instinct and this was the best yet. They reduced my price before installation too when I met with the consultant. It was very expensive in the beginning. Not sure why but I named my price and we went from there. My carpet is fresh, stapled down, and I look forward to using them again.

Updated on 05/02/2019: Maybe Empire Today thought I was satisfied with my complaint. I certainly didn’t notify anyone that I was. I wrote a review about a week ago regarding an installation that started failing last fall. I had also contacted Empire on the day of installation regarding a stain on the stairs that we just had refinished that was caused by installers McDonald’s cup that was left to sweat and leave a ring.

After six months of not hearing back I threw in the towel figuring they were never going to follow through. I was checking the web after hearing aid commercial for Empire Today to see if anyone else had similar complaints. That is when I found your site and decided to put one in myself. They finally paid for the damage that took place a year and a half ago, but never addressed the poor installation. Michelle ** stood behind their policy of one year warranty, even though there were numerous emails, calls and numerous dropped balls by this department. I spoke with Delmer, her installer this past Saturday. His explanation for the rippled carpet was that his help didn’t know how to use a power stretcher very well. Good to know.

I hired YesSir Services who came Monday and do the two worst areas, the hallway and my sons room. He stretched and cut off enough excess to carpet a closet. I spent a small fortune with Empire Today with a lousy result. Volume business with poor results and poor customer service. Only the original complaint from a year and a half ago was resolved. They refused to stand by their product installation.

I had them come out weeks after the installation to install two rooms in the basement. I even complimented them in an email regarding the installation, and later that year had to walk it back due to seam issues which were repaired. That was when Delmer asked me never to call his boss but to call him direct because they charge him back for repairs. I wish I had called him direct, because dealing with customer service yielded zero results. Would definitely not recommend this company to anyone. I have almost 3000 people across the country who I’m friends with on Facebook as well as my real estate investment network that I will be sharing this information with.

Original Review: I made a claim to Empire during the installation. We had just had our stairs refinished. I came home to find a sweating McDonald's drink cup on the stairs that belonged to one of the installers which left a stain. Forwarded photos as well as sent estimates for repair. Promises were made to follow up and resolve. This has been over a year. My carpet now has lumps everywhere and needs restretching. They have been out to fix seams a just weeks after install. Not impressed with service after the sale. If there was an option for half a star, I would have selected it.

I had my master bedroom done in hardwood and the rest of the house in carpet. From the salesman to the final piece of flooring, I had no problems. I will eventually do the whole house in hardwood and will call and use this company again. The carpet people even rolled up, and left me a strip that was extra so I could use it downstairs. That kind of stuff is what counts and why I will use them again. The company will call and check on you and make sure you're satisfied along with the contractors will not leave unless you sign off and say they can leave. I like that!!

Went with Empire Today to have our old flooring removed and new flooring put in. Salesperson lied and said it would all be done in a week. Well three weeks later and numerous unsuccessful complaints, here we are with a torn up house. The workers, if they show up, turned on the AC units on and then down to 65 degrees clogging them up with the tile dust. Damaged baseboards then ask us, "Oh are you replacing the baseboards." Then have the gall to ask if they can use the roofers dumpster for their debris. I have filed complaints with the BBB and DBPR as well as contacted the reporter who did the story on them last year. They talk a big game but it is all false.

I have never gone out of my way to write a negative review for anything but this service was so atrocious that I do not want anyone else to have to experience it. If I could give this company less than one star, I would. Our experience with them was a complete disaster pretty much from start to finish. We are finishing our basement and used Empire to put in vinyl flooring in a small portion of the room and carpet in the rest. Given that they are a flooring company, this didn't seem like it should be a complicated task. In the end, it took over a month and a half for the job to be fully completed.

The first employee who came out to install the vinyl portion told us that our floor was too uneven and he'd have to sand the concrete down (something for which we were not quoted), then, this process took him most of the day and at the end, he didn't even install the transition piece (something that, at the time, didn't seem like a big deal). Then, the carpet people came. At first, it seemed like everything went well until my husband noticed a wet spot on one of our walls accompanied by a dent. Turns out that they damaged the wall and tried to patch it themselves without telling us. When we called to file a complaint about this (considering we were told if any damage was done, we would be reimbursed for whatever the cost is to fix it), we were told that someone would contact us within 24-48 hours. Yeah, still waiting on that call.

Then, we needed someone to come back to install a transition piece between the vinyl and carpet. We assumed that this would be a job should be pretty standard and there should be no discrepancies about how to go about installing a transition piece when flooring is literally all that they do. Unfortunately for us, that was an inaccurate, to put it mildly, assumption for us to make. The first crew they sent never showed. The second crew they sent were the wrong flooring people. The third crew said they could only do so much then the carpet people had to come back to finish it. The fourth crew said there was nothing more they could do and that a vinyl worker had to come back to fix it.

Finally, the FIFTH crew was able to get the job done (keep in mind that when they schedule a service with you, they expect you to be available ALL day and their robo call to alert you of the installer's arrival is not just misleading but is, in fact, a blatant lie). Meanwhile, as all of this is going on, we have filed multiple complaints and have been promised by multiple people that our complaints are listed at the "highest priority" and a manager will contact us. Again, still waiting on that call. At one point, a customer service representative even claimed that the manager called, left a voicemail, and because they never heard back from me, they had closed the complaint--that voicemail never existed. Needless to say, I will never use this company again and want to make sure that as many people as possible avoid their services again. It was a complete and utter nightmare.

We had a salesperson come out and we went into great detail about wanting vinyl flooring, we had the wood laminate flooring and it was only two years old! We told him we were not interested in any other type of flooring so not to waste his time we looked at only one sample case of vinyl plank flooring. We ordered the colors we like and everything appeared to be in order. I reigned the form to get the job authorization and we waited for scheduling. The flooring was done in two different days we were told the product we selected was out of stock.

A different salesman showed up and my husband spoke with Pete and scheduled the flooring that was not out of stock! I’m talking with installation person and I’m informed the flooring is laminate and I called the company at three places Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Corporate to tell them in midst of installation that the wrong product is being installed! I was told that I esigned the contract and that they were standing by the hat the salesman entered in the computer!

I’m the customer and this is wrong! I should not have to suffer for the mistake of the salesman! I asked for vinyl plank flooring and I am forced to have wood laminate flooring! The kitchen was laid last week has bulging/bubbles at seams. The second installer took pictures and checked for space at wall edge but I am left with a wrong flooring and damage at install! Please make this right! Empire Today Flooring was my favorite and my Texas home had it! I was treated very well in Texas and not in Michigan this is wrong!!!

My flooring installation started at the end of January 2019. Flooring for 2 bathrooms and a laundry room. One bathroom has a bathtub. The installer did a terrible job cutting the flooring straight along the bathtub. The remedy suggested to fix this problem by Empire was to apply peel and stick caulk. The caulk is not staying in place. They came out and resealed the caulk along the flooring but it comes undone along the tub. They need to come out replace and cut the flooring properly along the bathtub. It is now April 2019. The installation manager is ignoring our emails and phone calls. The customer service that I have been experiencing is the worst. There was also an issue with the installers scratching my wood floor while moving the washer and drier out of the laundry room. They were unprepared and had zero moving tools.

As it turns out it was decided to get carpet for the whole residence. I called back to reschedule this in the manner in which I wanted it done. A whole new estimate...but I had to go into a dialog with 2 other persons who did not agree with my request as a potential customer instead of $370.00 the cost (revenue would have been ~$1300.00.) After having this dialog. I cancelled the order and requested to return my initial refund ~$37.00. (I was told it would take 7-10 business days.)

I spoke with several persons and (4) each one opened a ticket for the refund. On yesterday April 15, 2019 I called the corporate offices and on this morning someone called to say that a check would be mailed. Allow 15 business days to receive it. I was not satisfied at all with this transaction. I do accounting and this would not have been acceptable in the corporations that I worked with. No apology was given... Poor Customer Service... The floor guys were 5 hours late. When they arrived here they asked which floor they were doing, I told them the hallway and kitchen only. They asked about the laundry room off of the kitchen and I told them "No, just the hallway and kitchen." I walk into the other room and a half hour later hear one of them say "OH **." I walk into the kitchen only to see that they ripped up the floor in the laundry room....THE EXACT ROOM I TOLD THEM NOT TO DO. The guy turns to me and again asks "were we supposed to do the laundry room?" and again I tell him no. So now they spend the next two hours putting the floor back in the room they weren't supposed to touch before even starting the actual project. Fast forward to 11pm and they're still working on the kitchen and have a power saw running outside...AT 11PM on a weeknight when people have work in the morning and kids have school.

I ask them if they can come back tomorrow because they're being so loud and at this point, neighbors are complaining. They tell me no, they need to finish the job the same day. It eventually gets to the point where I'm in tears and begging them to bring the power saw inside so that my neighbors don't call the police after having them come by 3 times yelling for them to keep it down. They don't finish until after 12:30 at night (mind you I have to be up for work at 5) and leave the driveway a complete mess. The cops show up just as they're pulling away and it was the worst experience with a company ever. I complained to customer service and someone was supposed to call me and never did. Completely unprofessional company all around. Their price was almost the same as competitors, but their service and professionalism was subpar and not worth it.

We had our two bathroom floors installed on 4/6/2019. Within the week of it being done we've noticed there's multiple things wrong. Some tiles appear to be lifting a little and what looks to be glue/some type of liquid coming through the cracks between the tiles which ends up getting sticky stuff all over the flooring as you walk. It's been a week so by now everything should have settled and dried! We've also noticed our toilets the installer placed back are now sitting off balanced/feels wobbly. I'm really upset as I shouldn't have to have anyone come back out a second time or even have to call in about this issue. It should have been right the first time. I hope they call me ASAP to get this issue rectified and everything fixed.

The salesman told me the pile on the rug was a little high but I would not see any foot marks or vacuum cleaning marks. Berber rugs are not suppose to leave any marks period.

They came to my house. Never showed me the rug first, they were so fast they took away my old rug and proceeded to install my new rug. I stopped them because I notice the foot marks on the rug from the installers. I was so mad. I had to let them install the rug. I had no choice... They took my old rug already. It also was hard to get in touch right away. So now I'm stuck with a rug that look like foot prints in the sand. Waiting for them to make a decision of what they are going to do to make a customer happy. Plus the installers didn't finish their work in stapling my rug down. So now I'm waiting to find out what's going to be done.

October, 2018 I received two estimates for three rooms of hardwoods at my new condo. Zach ended up coming down about $1,000 from original quote. He didn’t know how to enter the reduced rate, so he marked ‘floating’ versus ‘glued down’ and in the comments section wrote that floor was to be glued down. Well, the installers put down a floating floor - which by the way sags in the sunroom. I had already agreed to have hardwood put in my mom’s sunroom before mine was put down. It was supposed to be done same day. Nope. They brought wrong color wood.

When mom’s floor was finished, it looked great. When the two guys left, they drove on neighbor’s yard and ruined her grass. I called the installers and the main guy came back with dirt and rake and tried to level out deep gullies. It had been raining for two weeks. Customer service was rude and acted dense. They kept repeating that I didn’t pay for glue-but I did. Zach had typed it in comments, because he didn’t know how to enter the price match. Company did knock $300 off my mom’s floor. I will NEVER use Empire Today again. Have given plenty of free advertising too.

Doing the living room, which is our largest & counting all other rooms at $50 each with the entrance, top of stairs, & upstairs hall, & laundry closet as rooms, we have a total of 12 rooms at $50 per room which totals $600. Plus the price of our largest room, our 19x11 living room at full price. HOW DOES THIS GO FROM $600. Plus the cost of the living room and steps to $12,900.00? Setting up an appointment to get a free quote was easy, the sales rep was extremely helpful and assisted in picking out the proper laminate flooring for my needs. However, when it came to the installation, it was SLOPPY. The lack of communication within this single department is ridiculous, and whenever I called with a concern, no one knew anything about it or had a solution. So, I got my floors installed and the molding looks cheap and plastic-y, and my stairs did not even get any molding at all.

Where the molding is cut looks and feels uneven and jagged. And furthermore, I was charged extra for the installers to lay concrete down in order to level my floors so that the laminate flooring would lay flat, however, MY FLOORS ARE LOPSIDED!!! And when the installer had arrived on site, I explained to him to be sure that I would be able to access my crawl space. Come to find out, he sealed it off entirely and I couldn't get access to my crawl space. So then I called to schedule someone to come back out and take a look at it, however two appointments in a row I was given an arrival window time of 8 AM and 6 PM, BUT NO ONE SHOWED UP! TWICE!!! So finally, third time's the charm.

Someone finally showed up today (ALMOST 2 MONTHS AFTER MY INSTALL), opened my crawl space, installed a handle (which I had to provide), but they did a sloppy job and installed it CROOKED. And now there is also damage done to the border around the crawlspace and the laminate is already separating. I tried to call back, no answer. No surprise to me. They already got my $15k, so obviously I don't matter to them anymore. Overall, not happy.

We left a message for our sales rep and did not hear back - we called the next day and he let us know he no longer works for Empire. We then called Empire to check on A) getting a new quote for another type of flooring and B) to confirm the installation date of the carpet for our son's bedroom.

As of today (over 9 days later) we still have not heard back from a sales rep. We spent all day yesterday clearing out his room, including all his furniture. We were told a sales rep would call us. 2 hours & 2 more phone calls we initiated later, still no word from a sales rep or any idea of when/if my son's carpet will be installed. I paid Empire Today to recarpet a rental home. One of the workmen spilled black liquid on the carpet and couldn't get the stain out. The crew left and there wasn't anything I could do because Empire had already processed my credit card. Ten days later a new crew came - but only took photos of the stain and remeasured the room. Five days later a manager approved the carpet be replaced and the CS rep made an appt for the next day. I was told they'd be here in the am; at 4:30 pm Empire called to say they wouldn't be able to do the work today, and I'll have to begin the nightmare process to get the work rescheduled. It's been almost three weeks since I paid them.

The Empire requires full payment up front. Once they're paid, they'll do the work, and if it's successful, great. If it's not, it is a very frustrating experience to get poor/improper installation resolved. My salesperson has returned only one of my calls. Customer service reps have no authority except to say we'll get back to you. Staff doesn't call back when they say they're going to. It has been one of the worst customer service experiences I've had, especially when I think of how much I paid them.

I've been seeing Empire Today on TV and I needed somebody to come in and do the flooring and get it over with because I've been dealing with the person doing my house and trying to fix it after I bought it in October. The work still isn't finished and I wasn't going through all that with him. So, I decided to work with Empire and I had them install carpeting in the living room, two bedrooms and the hallway. The installation went quickly and took three hours, and they didn’t waste any time. I'm really satisfied with my experience with them. The new flooring has met my expectations and I like its color. I would tell people that I've used Empire and they've done a good job.

We meet with an Empire representative, decided on laminate flooring. We were told they can have it installed as soon as possible. We set a date one week from ordering. We received a phone call the day the work was suppose to begin at 6:55 am saying our material was out of stock and they did not have a date when the material would be in. Absolutely disappointed in the way they are conducting business and of course when I ask to speak to a supervisor no one is available. I would like to cancel my services without having to pay a 25% fee. Terrible way of course conducting business.

The installation went very well and I like that the laminate matches my floor. It took a day and the guy who installed it was very helpful and I enjoyed the way he did the floor. My friends have seen my floors and they’re really impressed. So, I would recommend Empire Today.

We used Empire in 2010 to install carpet, vinyl flooring, and blinds. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. There are places where they neglected to put carpet padding, and not even two years in we already had loose spots/carpet ripples. The vinyl flooring in the kitchen had to be redone 5 times due to air bubbles. We were quoted one price for the blinds, and then they tried to charge us more. I tell everyone to steer clear of this unprofessional company.

I had an appointment on Sunday 3/31/19 between 9AM and 11Am for someone to come and measure and give me a price. At 12:20PM no one had come. No phone call, text or email. I finally called them and they said they could have someone come but I had other plans and was aggravated by this time. I then went ahead and rescheduled for Sunday 4/7/19 between 11AM and 1PM, well on Saturday night at 7:11PM I received a voice message saying they had to cancel and I can call back to reschedule. This is the poorest customer service interaction. How is one to have next day installation if they cannot even get someone out to do step 1. I’m in the process of a remodel and my upstairs is done with the exception of new flooring, not to mention I’ve emptied rooms for the remodel which would make it easier but looking forward to start getting things back together.

After the I realized I had a message with the cancellation I started reading the write ups with the similar situations. I wish I had read them first as I wouldn’t have wasted my time and would have already had new flooring down if I went with a local flooring company or big box store. Now I need to start from the beginning. This is unprofessional!!! But I guess it tells a story. Would they stand behind their products after installation if there was an issue? I’m guessing NOT!!!

A second installer came (I found out later he had never installed that type of carpet, a glue on) so of course it was a nightmare to installed it and it was a mess. It was all unravel at the edges, cut up wrong, with the seams uneven.

I tried for a month and half to get help, Jason stop taking my calls. I was texting his supervisor who promised somebody will come, I took off from work 3 times and nobody show up. Finally I disputed the charges with my bank, sent all documents and letter from another contractor testifying of the bad job. Got the charges reverse but now a year later Empire is asking for the money again. I called to ask for an address to send all my documentation for the dispute and I was told they DON'T have a mailing address and nobody can contact me unless I pay the money first so they can write a ticket for my dispute! Empire, we choose them because of they had the best prices, and fit what we were looking for, but alas they were horrendous. They are nothing but problems!

The Installers for our laminate floors were scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, March 19th, and take no more than 2 days for the laminate and on the 3rd day the carpet would be installed on the stairs.

The crew that arrived did not speak English, when we had questions, they could or would only say “yes, no, or same stuff, no worries.” They spent 80% of the first day on their phones, and could not even finish the master bedroom and closet. We had just over 700 sq ft that needed the laminate. Not a huge amount. During the removal of base boards, they destroyed them; were not gentle and punched multiple holes through our walls, they cracked, shattered and maimed our baseboards. Then lost some of the smaller pieces, or maimed them so bad they destroyed them and they shattered. They had excessive waste of the laminate, and marked everything with a red sharpie, then used the marked boards in the closets. They left large enough gaps on the edges of some spaces that even with the maimed base boards you can still see the underlayment.

In one bedroom, my husband caught them laying the laminate without the underlayment, he made them pull the laminate up and lay the underlayment back down the way they were supposed to after they argued that he was wrong. Then, they moved heavy furniture and dragged it over the newly installed laminate. They scratched up a bedroom, so we made them replace all the scratched boards about 10 of them basically a whole case worth of boards. So even more wasted boards for their crappy work. I went out of my way and ran and got felt furniture pads, to protect our new floors! They refused to use them stating it was no good! After calling and voicing my issues to Empire on the second day, I was told to use google translate to communicate, and he has heard this complaint before and that is the best they could do. I demanded on the third day an English speaking person accompany them for our concerns and issues to be addressed.

Day two The Supervisor for the laminate came out for about 40 mins, let himself into our house unannounced and was just standing around. When we came down stairs he introduced himself to us. WE had to watch these men constantly or they tried to cut corners. In those 40 mins that the “boss” was there, we asked they fix the holes, but they had already started putting the destroyed and damaged base boards back up. So they patched above the baseboards…. Half ** fixed it.

Supervisor had them switch the underlayment in the last room. Kind of Fishy!!! Was not the same product we paid for and was a different feel and color! They did not nail all the baseboards down and a few are falling off the walls and hanging on with one nail to them. They left exposed saw, blade, tools and things just laying around on new floors with zero protection from scratching! When done they did not offer to move our heavy furniture back to where it belonged like it said they would in the contract. I just had Elbow surgery and cannot help my husband to move anything. So our house is sitting in disarray until everything is done. So for the last two week we have been waiting to put things back together. The installers left their garbage and debris lying around and they took what should have taken 1-2 days into 5!

On to Carpeting the stairs- Carpet was scheduled for 3/21/19, Carpet installers arrive with the wrong color! They supervisor then told us we are wrong, and this is what we ordered! Um no it is not. The contract guy, imputed the wrong color, so the carpet gets sent back, and contract guy sends in an order for the right color and we are told they will come back the next day. Next day, after hours of waiting we get a phone call, the carpet was never delivered! Yet another day wasted to them, and now we add another day, and they promise install for that Saturday. Install for carpet goes smoothly, it has been just two weeks and the carpet is pulling up on the stairs after vacuuming them, and the small landing is pulling up also! WHAT THE HELL.

After many calls and emails of our issues with pictures to back it up, we came to an agreement that they would replace the baseboards, and they promised a different company and people would show up for them. I scheduled the install for 4/6/19, low and behold is this a JOKE to Empire, they sent the damned supervisor from the same flooring company. First thing out of his mouth, “you have a problem with our work? What’s wrong with it?” We have called and complained again, and have once again put our home on hold to reschedule the base boards for next week 4/13/19.

Long story short 1. Destroyed baseboards, 2. Holes in walls, 3. Sharpie markers on some boards, 4. Gouges and scratched up new floors, 5. Horrid customer service, 6. Wrong carpet color ordered, 7. Did not move any furniture back, 8. Took 5 days to install, and now 3 weeks of waiting on baseboards, 9. Garbage left in our house. 10. Excessive waste. 11. Carpet is pulling up after vacuuming. 12. Everything is 3rd party installers and have massive language barriers.

I have used Empire products for over 10 years and have had carpet installed in several properties with good results. However, I recently had my entire home redone and within a couple of months noticed shedding. It continued for a couple more months before it came significant enough to notify Empire. They responded quickly. I spoke to a CS rep and sent pictures - she responded with "it may be defective and will send a tech out". They sent 2 techs who took additional pictures and told me that they "have never seen anything like this before".

After some time I called CS to inquire about next steps. Here is where it gets real. They told me that they lost the pictures and tech report. After a couple more weeks they told me that the damage is pet related and not a warranty issue. I actually have a small bare spot in one area where several strands pulled out. I've had pets my entire life and NEVER have they caused damage. This product is damaged and Empire will not stand behind it.

I had an account with Empire and I had them install hardwood floor. They were fabulous because once they did my steps, I realized I needed to finish my upstairs so I called them and they immediately came right back out. My second experience was most definitely better than my first experience where Empire botched the entire installation of my downstairs. It was a three-day project that turned into a six-month endeavor. I had a quarter-inch engineered hardwood flooring in my kitchen. Empire didn’t take into consideration that the product I had down was different from the product that was going back down. The product that they brought in was ceramic which was much thinner than what I had. They ended up trying to caulk and shut all of my doors up where I had an inch and a half gap between my floor.

The problem was the time that this was going on, the same crew wasn’t coming out each time so it was a sloppy job. The bottom line was we made Empire aware of the problem and they still didn't correct it. We went back and forth to the point that they had to replace all of my door facings, door jams and my entire downstairs. It wasn’t good. I was happy before, but I was pissed afterward because all they had to do was just put another piece of subflooring down to make up the difference but they didn’t do that. In the end, Empire fixed the problem because we told them before the installation went down that this wasn’t going to work. Other than that, I'm fine with my steps and my whole house being hardwood, except my kitchen. It looks really good although the initial product I bought from Empire, they don’t make anymore so the color of my steps and my upstairs are different.

Empire has good pricing, good carpet selections, great salesmen, good installation and customer service. My husband is a disabled veteran and they gave us a good discount! What was disappointing was using Wells Fargo for their 12 month, no finance charge bank. Wells Fargo did not approve our 12 month interest fee financing when we have not been turned down for credit is the last 4 years! This bank has a history of not being consumer friendly. Their repeated visits to Congress to answer charges on this is history.

Had I known this was their bank of choice I probably would not have purchased here. However our salesman was good, and convinced us that another bank would give us a 6 month interest free deal. So 3 stars because they have Wells Fargo. Now we have lost a couple of credit points because of their refusal to offer us 12 months. We do however have a very nice carpet. My suggestion would be to check your credit first before ordering!

I had an empire rep in to give me a quote on my floors. He shows me 8 color options, when I was told there would be 100s. I pick one I can deal with and carry on. We discussed the kitchen tile and subfloor, and how they needed to be pulled up. We talked about how the installers would level my floors, and the base molding I wanted. I was offered a $250 discount because they couldn't keep a date. The man tells me a price (4700), then when I agree he says, "I'm sorry it's going to be 4950ish" for whatever reason. He tells me they will come April 1st, in the morning, and it will be a 1-2 day job finished by Tuesday.

Fast forward to MONDAY April 1st. They show up at 1140, after I called 3x to find out what's going on. They tell me... ripping up the kitchen floor was not in my contract, and I was getting 1/4 round not base molding. NO. I am not paying 5k for cheap looking floors. They speak to a manager, and they say ok they'll come back Thurs and put the molding down, but finish the floors THAT DAY. Come 3pm they say they can't finish, but will come back SATURDAY the 6th. 6 days later. My entire downstairs is destroyed.

I called the company, the person who sold me the floors, the people installing. Everyone says a manager will call me back, but no-one has. I had to postpone my cabinet and appliance delivery because they said 2 days to finish, not a week. And apparently 2 days 5 days apart is okay. I have no kitchen, no living room, no dining room... NOTHING. I would not recommend this company. The contractors seem nice and hard working, but they are sub contracted. It seems like the company tries to give the smallest amount for the largest price. DO NOT USE EMPIRE!!

Then he kept trying to stand really close to me while I filled out the paperwork, I ended up asking another contractor to stay and sign when the work was done so I could leave.

Of course once I left everything went downhill. The guys banged up all the trim that I recently had painted, they also knicked up several walls and did not finish the entryway areas as the salesperson and I had discussed, instead they tacked down scuffed up silver transition strip that looked terrible and bent. The carpet has big bubbles in the center of the room. I have pictures of the room before and after the install showing all the damage done to the walls and trim.

I am a property manager and this is the worst carpet install job I have ever dealt with. I will never use Empire again and I do not recommend anyone else does. My experience with Empire Today was the worst I ever experienced with a contractor. This company is dishonest, managers don't return calls, you are put on hold constantly and made to wait and then transferred to someone else and the calls are dropped and then you're told someone will call you back and they don't and you have to start over from scratch with someone else who can't find the name of who you talked to even though you tell them who it was... This was my experience with customer service.

Workers I dealt with did not know English and trying to converse with the managers and customer service and them was disastrous as noted above. Installers came in the wrong order. I had carpet, laminate, and ceramic tile. I was told the first day when workers came over that my job shouldn't have been scheduled as it was as far as the order of work and had to be rescheduled. This was just the first of so many things that didn't work out right and hours of aggravation on the phone with customer service people and managers whose names were supposedly not recorded or even working there when I tried to contact them later. Between the salesman and the installation manager, the two of them could not get anything right.

This company just blew my mind with all of the arrogance, nastiness from the installation coordinator whose name now is supposedly unrecognizable when attempting to contact him. He was so bitter and angry when having to talk to me and treated me like I was stupid and worth nothing. I was so glad to be able to stop discussions and all forms of contact with this lousy business where no one was ever accountable for anything.

So now, a year later and one of the laminate boards has separated about 1/4" so far, apparently from not being put down correctly. Already today I spent over an hour trying to get in touch with the original installation manager who no one can find on any of the paperwork or phone records. He avoided me like the plague having to deal with me before. They act like he never existed. I've been put on hold and redirected and put on hold and told twice I would receive a phone call within minutes and an hour after five minutes, no one ever bothered to call me back.

I refrained a year ago from complaining about this company, but I'm not holding back this time. I'm going to make it my mission to let as many people know from my first-hand experience that they do NOT want to deal with this company. It's not surprising one bit the number of complaints this company continues to rack up. Use anyone but Empire Flooring where no one wants to help. Don't be fooled into thinking by a nice speaking salesperson that all will be wonderful. IT WON'T BE. I see some great reviews but they are ones selected by Empire to show here. I don't believe them. And I wouldn't doubt that no one will ever see this one.

Salesman was very charming! He gave me a estimated for 3 rooms on 3/21/19. I told him I had another estimate coming 4/2/19. He said, "No problem sign the contract now & when you get your estimate on 4/2/19 & you choose to go with the other co. you can cancel with us!" Don't take him by his word! When I called to cancel 4/1/19 that's right the other co. came early 3/30/19 they said I went passed the 3 day waiting period to cancel the contract! The salesman told me that it would be no problem to cancel! So now they told me that they are charging my credit card $200 & I would have a $200.00 credit with them to do more floor work! The other co. had more choices to choose from & they are doing another room & the price was much better! I can see charging the customer a fee of $25.00 like the other co. did if I didn't choose them but not $200.00 for doing nothing! What a scam! Salesman's word means nothing!

I saw Empire Today’s nice price on a commercial on TV and I had them do the flooring on the hallway in the living room. I loved it. The project took two to three days and the final result was great. The installation crew did alright and I give them a plus. Empire did an excellent job.

I had Empire Today install linoleum flooring in the kitchen. Another company burnt a hole in my other one so they had to replace it. I had to get two estimates, so I took Empire Today and Lowe’s. Lowe’s had the same thing as Empire did, but Lowe's was a couple $100 or nearly $300 dearer so we went with Empire. They were very efficient and the people they sent were very pleasant.

Empire Today had put carpet throughout the house in Pflugerville that we were selling. Then we had them replace the carpet in two bedrooms and put hardwood flooring in the very front bedroom and master bedroom. We got water resistant ones and so far, it's working out well. It has met our expectations.

We signed up to have a carpet installed at an investment property and when the installer came out to install they told me my wife only 1 set of stairs were to be included in the scope of work. They also told her if we wanted to pay more they didn't have enough carpet to finish the steps. Contacted Empire immediately to explain the situation and was told someone would get back to us in 1-3 days to look into the matter. Now at day 4 and nothing. Check in after day and was told in short terms it would be 1-3 days no sense of urgency to address the matter. Now going to be difficult to match the carpet that was installed on floor leading into this room. They just have too many parties involved and no sense of urgency to address a Customer's concerns.

We scheduled an appointment for 03/27/2019 for 7pm-9pm. Well, we waited and never received a phone call, text message or an email that no one was coming. Not very professional. Was looking forward to having new flooring. Guess I will try someone else.

Empire Today installed some carpet in the home. I called one other flooring company, 50 Floor. Empire's price was more economical and that was the main reason that I chose them. I like the fact that they were able to get in and out within the day. I’m pleased with the product and I like the color of it. I’m satisfied with the new flooring.

Empire Today installed carpet for the whole home. They put it in three bedrooms, the den, the living room, a hall and the steps. The boy that came to the home first to introduce us to the carpet was very mannerly and knowledgeable. They need to slow down a bit with the installation though. My husband had removed the furniture and they didn’t have a whole lot to do but to lay the carpet. They worked so hard and so fast that it was done in no time until they ran out of carpet and then they had to wait two days to come back and finish it. But other than that, we were pleased and I would recommend Empire Today.
